Tour the north of the central axis, starting from Tiananmen Square, visit the Forbidden City, Jingshan Park, Shichahai, buy some creative souvenirs in Yandaixie Street, and if you are interested, you can rent a tandem bicycle in Shichahai, which is a unique experience. Visit the area south of the central axis, first try authentic Beijing snacks at Xianyukou on the east side of Qianmen Street, then visit Dashilan on the west side to buy time-honored Beijing specialties, then find the Eight Great Hutongs to experience the past Hutong times, and then go south to the north gate of the Temple of Heaven to visit the royal heaven worship site. In the evening, you can enjoy a warm performance by an underground band at MAO or Lanxi Bar on Gulou Street.

If the weather is fine, you can visit the Summer Palace and Yuanmingyuan in the west of the city, enjoy the breeze by the lake and appreciate the scenery of the royal gardens. You can also go to Xiangshan and Botanical Gardens and take in the view of the capital from the top of Xiangshan Ghost. In the evening, when you return to the city, you can experience the bright lights and bustling Beijing at Sanlitun Bar Street.

Visiting the National Museum, Capital Museum or National Art Museum of China in the city are all good choices. In the evening, take the bus from Dongzhimen to Huairou and arrive at the foot of Simatai Great Wall (you can also choose Jiankou, Jinshanling, Gubeikou), stay overnight in a farmhouse, rest early, and prepare plenty of energy for the next day.

Early in the morning, you can climb up to the beacon tower at the highest point of the Simatai Great Wall to watch the sun gradually rise from the east. After having a hearty farm meal at noon, you can get up and return to the city. If you are still interested, you can go on another gourmet food tour on Guijie Street in Dongzhimen.
