Accommodation in Lijiang is categorized into two types: mature and less developed tourism areas. Mature areas offer a wide variety of accommodation options and a good environment, such as Lijiang Old Town, Shuhe Ancient Town, and Lugu Lake. Less developed areas, such as Tiger Leaping Gorge and Lashi Lake, have poorer accommodation conditions and are relatively inexpensive. Visitors can stay with local families or camp, but be mindful of safety.
Inns are a major feature of Lijiang accommodation and are the first choice for most tourists. Lijiang Old Town and Shuhe have convenient transportation, and most tourists choose to stay in these two places.

Everyone who hikes Tiger Leaping Gorge knows Teacher Zhang's home. Teacher Zhang built a path through the cliffs, descending from the highway to the canyon floor. He marked the forks in the trail and laid ropes at particularly dangerous spots, greatly increasing safety for hikers. The entrance fee to Teacher Zhang's home is 10 yuan per person, and climbing to Tiger Leaping Rock at Teacher Zhang's home is 5 yuan per person.
Besides Teacher Zhang's Inn, there are also several small guesthouses along the Tiger Leaping Gorge trail that cater specifically to hikers. These generally offer 24-hour hot water, are clean, and have reasonable prices depending on the season. Meals are available at the accommodations and are reasonably priced. Most of the owners speak fluent English with a very authentic accent.
Halfway is the most famous inn on the hiking route and is also highly praised. The inn is at the entrance of the village in Bendi Bay. After dinner, you can see the surging Tiger Leaping Gorge from the open-air balcony of "Halfway", which feels great.
