The grasslands of Ruoergai are well-known for their beauty. Visitors to Ruoergai will not miss the Huahu Scenic Area. A short trip to Ruoergai usually lasts 2-3 days, but if you have more time, you can usually charter a car to cover the entire western Sichuan loop, or start from Gannan, pass through Xiahe, Langmusi, Ruoergai, and finally to Nianbao Yuze National Park. The trip takes about 7-10 days.
Route highlights: Prostrating yourself at Dazha Temple and Langmusi Temple, circumambulating the pagoda, and enjoying the magnificent sunset at the first bend of the Yellow River. The integration of humanity and nature is just right in Ruoergai.
D1: Daza Temple → Yellow River First Bend (stay at Yellow River First Bend);
D2: Huahu Lake → Langmusi Temple → Qinghai/Zuoergai County
D1: Get up in the morning to visit Dazha Temple and go to the back mountain to overlook the entire Ruoergai County. After returning to Ruoergai County and having lunch, take a bus to the First Bend of the Yellow River and visit the Suoge Zang Temple in the scenic area. At dusk, climb the back mountain to enjoy the sunset over the Yellow River. Stay at the First Bend of the Yellow River scenic area that night.
Day 2: Wake up in the morning to watch the sunrise, then charter a car to Huahu Lake. In the afternoon, travel from Huahu Lake to Langmusi Temple, where you'll visit the temple and Namo Grand Canyon. Afterwards, you can choose to return to Ruoergai County or continue your journey to Qinghai. If you arrive at Langmusi by bus, you'll stay there and travel to your other destination the next day.
Route Features: Starting from Chengdu, the route loops around the area, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful grasslands, visit famous Gelugpa temples, and visit the Zhuokeji official village in Maerkang, covering most of the attractions in western Sichuan.
D1: Chengdu-Songpan County;
D2: Chuanzhu Temple → Songpan County → Ruoergai County → Dazha Temple;
D3: Huahu Lake → Langmusi → Ruoergai County;
D4: The First Bend of the Yellow River → Hongyuan County → Wachetalin;
D5: Hongyuan County → Maerkang County → Zhuokeji Official Village;
D6: Maerkang County → Danba → Jiaju Tibetan Village;
D7: Danba → Chengdu
D1: Depart from Chadianzi Station to Songpan County at 7:20/6:30 in the morning, and stay in Songpan County for rest that night.
D2: Get up early to visit Chuanzhus Temple, and take a bus to Ruoergai County at 2:30 pm. Arrive in Ruoergai County about three hours later. After settling in the accommodation, take a walk to Dazha Temple to watch the sunset over Ruoergai County.
D3: Charter a car to visit Huahu Lake, then go to Langmusi Temple, and return to Ruoergai for overnight stay.
D4: Charter a car to the Yellow River Yiwan Scenic Area, then continue to Hongyuan County. Arrive at Hongyuan County at noon. After lunch, go to Wachitalin to enjoy the magnificent group of prayer flags.
D5: At 7:30 in the morning, take a bus from Hongyuan County to Ma'erkang County. Arrive at Ma'erkang County at noon. After lunch, visit Zhuokeji Official Village. Zhuokeji Official Village, built on the mountain, is also a red tourism attraction.
D6: At 7:00 am, charter a car from Maerkang to Danba, visit Jiaju Tibetan Village, which is known as the most beautiful village in China, and find a local B&B to stay in that night.
D7: Return to Chengdu from Danba by bus in the morning.
