Shopping Recommendations in Zhoushan

In Zhoushan, all kinds of fresh seafood are the first choice for shopping. Such as live sea shells, South China Sea laver, yellow lobster rice, Zhoushan offers white dried fish, dried fish with moth meat, three-fan jellyfish, kelp, anchovies, mussels, and more. The best choice is, of course, Zhoushan International Aquatic Products City. Compared to the leisurely outlying islands, Zhoushan's more prosperous areas are concentrated in Dinghai District and Shenjiamen in Putuo District. These two areas are perfect for shopping.

Dinghai Business District

Dinghai's business district resembles a nine-square grid. Three vertical lines (Furongzhou Road, Renmin Road, and Zongfu Road) intersect with three horizontal lines (East Street, West Street, Middle Street, Jiefang Road, and South Huancheng Road). This grid forms Dinghai's core business district and leisure and cultural zone. Despite the city's continued expansion in recent years, Dinghai's cultural heritage, commercial concentration, and local customs have ensured the district's core position remains unchanged.

Longitudinal Line

Furongzhou Road, less than 200 meters long, extends southward to Donghai Road. It integrates food, entertainment, leisure, clothing, and beauty salons, creating a quintessential leisure district. Enjoy Hunan cuisine, spicy drinks, and a constant stream of people. You can savor thirteen-spiced crayfish while leisurely watching the world pass by. The streetfront buildings, with their black-tiled roofs and wooden facades, exude an antique charm, reflecting the style of period architecture. At night, the shop lights illuminate, and the neon lights blaze in a dazzling array of colors, setting the road ablaze with splendor. Furongzhou Road is most famous for its food scene, often called "Food Street." Cafes, teahouses, and local restaurants serving Sichuan, Hunan, and Korean cuisine create a vibrant and bustling atmosphere. The street is filled with alluring aromas, constantly tantalizing the appetite.

Renmin Road: stretches from Dinghai Port in the south to Zhoushan's largest hospital in the north. Shops and banks abound along the street, especially on Renmin Middle Road, where department stores, supermarkets, and brand-name stores are concentrated. The most representative is the First Department Store (29 Renmin Middle Road, near the Telecommunications Building on Roads 25, 33, 37, 38, and You 3). Zongfu Road Pedestrian Street (Zuyin Temple Station on Roads 29, 56, 58, 60, 62, and 64) is located on the westernmost side. It is Dinghai's longest street for brand-name clothing and is known as a fashion trendsetter. There, you can see Zhoushan's trendiest fashions and the most fashionable people.

East Street, West Street, and Middle Street: These are the bustling streets closest to Shenjiamen Fishing Port and its seafood stalls. Strolling along these streets, you can glimpse Dinghai's past and present. With its cobblestone pavement, wooden gates, and old city gates, it evokes the charm of a Jiangnan town from the past. Shops line the streets, pedestrians flow through the streets, and customers fill the shops. Traditional cultural offerings, leisure gift shops, and fashionable goods like Tibetan jewelry and cross-stitching attract Dinghai's young population. A wide variety of gifts, toys, crystal stones, and more are readily available. A leisurely stroll through the streets reveals a surprising discovery.
Transportation: Donghe Station on Bus No. 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 15, 27, or 28.

Jiefang Road: Dinghai's Jiefang Road is divided into Jiefang East Road (Routes 32, 36, 41, and 42, near the Zhouyi Clinic), Jiefang Middle Road, and Jiefang West Road. Jiefang Middle Road is particularly bustling. This road was once a city wall, but was later demolished and turned into a road. Both sides of the road are lined with businesses offering everything from food and accommodation to daily necessities and entertainment. Jiefang West Road, on the other hand, has a section dedicated to wedding dresses. On auspicious days, couples there will offer a glimpse into the island's wedding customs. There's also a Pacific Department Store (at the border checkpoint on Routes 30, 32, 36, 41, and 42), perfect for a leisurely stroll.

Huancheng South Road: This road only appeared on Zhoushan maps after the reform and opening up. It's the longest road in Dinghai. At its eastern end is the Zhoushan Daily, opposite the Zhoushan Museum; at its western end are the Zhoushan Opium War Ruins Park and the long-distance bus station. People of all social classes can find accommodations along this road, whether in hotels or hostels. (Route 29, Route 3, Zhushanmen Station)

core circle

Dinghai District Cultural Square is not only Zhoushan's commercial center, but also a cultural and arts hub integrating culture, entertainment, and leisure. Surrounding it are cultural institutions such as the Zhoushan Theater, the Municipal Cultural Center, the Yue Opera Troupe, and the Zhoushan Cinema, as well as numerous cafes and restaurants. This area is home to many digital device stores, such as Suning, Gome, and Hongtu Sanbao. Looking for electronics of all kinds? You're sure to find quality and affordable goods here.

Donggang Neihu Business District: Located in Donggang Subdistrict in Putuo District, Donggang boasts convenient shopping opportunities, including Auchan Supermarket and Kaihong Plaza, both located adjacent to each other. This area offers a comprehensive range of shopping, dining, entertainment, finance, and leisure services for residents of Putuo and surrounding areas. It is particularly popular during holidays.

While commerce is less developed on the outlying islands, the International Sand Sculpture Plaza in Zhujiajian, Putuo District, Sijiao Island in Shengsi County (Shengsi Islands), and Gaoting Town on Daishan Island (Daishan County) are all relatively developed. Fresh seafood is a popular shopping destination, with live seashells, South China Sea laver, yellow lobster, Zhoushan white croaker, dried croaker, Sanfan jellyfish, kelp, anchovies, and mussels all being available at local seafood markets. Zhoushan's city flower, the Putuo narcissus, is unique and suitable for potted or aquaculture. The peach blossom stone on Taohua Island is an excellent material for crafting high-quality handicrafts.

In addition, the most prosperous street in Putuo Mountain, the "Buddhist Kingdom of Sea and Sky", is Huaxiang Street. Although seafood is also its specialty, due to the high prices, it is recommended to buy it at other small islands or Zhoushan International Aquatic Products City on Shenjiamen Street in Putuo District (No. 1, Shenjiamen Fishery Market Street, Putuo District, International Aquatic Products City Station on Roads 2, 3, 8, and 10). This is Zhoushan's largest distribution center for dried and fresh seafood, and there are also various seafood souvenirs, with nearly a thousand stalls for selection.
