First off I love dogs! No so much for dog owners...... This is NOT a dog park, control your mutt and CLEAN UP AFTER IT!!!!!! There are times when walking int the "park" all you smell is dog crap. Not the best.

We have walked/run here for many years. You feel as if you are in Austin and not a suburb of Dallas. Great opportunities to see wildlife and beautiful creeks that run through the property. Thank you City of Plano. Great vision. I highly recommend this park to anyone who likes to run/hike or just take a slow walk.

My friend told me about this place when I was on business in Plano, we met and went for a run here!! Great scenery and even a few hills!! Can easily get a 5 mile hilly trot in here!! My favorite run in Dallas/Plano!!

There's plenty of people here all the time, so you feel safe jogging/walking. Hills, trees, and streams keep it interesting.

Fantastic place to go hang out, spend some time with nature, it's much like Central Park or Boston Commons in that you simply forget you are so near the big city.

This is my preferred park to run, walk or enjoy the nature. It is a beautiful and quiet place. There is free parking, there are natural trails, bike trails, and a wonderful view.

We love taking our dog and young daughter here. There are great trails and we would go for about 2 hours. The only complaint I have is the people...please pick up after your dogs!!!! This place is free - please treat it like your home.

This is one of me and my daughters favorite places in plano!! It's beautiful the nature walks are so natural.
I advice anyone to go, go solo, as a couple's walk with your children or pets ...absolutely !!!

Plano has done a great job providing neighborhood parks with playgrounds and athletic fields, but they surpassed expectations by purchasing acreage on the far ends of town for great nature preserves. Oak Point Park on the East and Arbor Hills on the west.
I especially love taking some good study and walking time at Arbor Hills. There is an excellent paved sidewalk that encircles most of the park with plenty of signage and a ton of footpaths thru the forest for the adventurous.
I have seen bobcat, hawk and raccoon, plus tons of birds and squirrels. I can't wait for my next visit.

This is a beautiful park, perfect to spend the day. This time we brought a kite and we had a great time flying it. This park is big enough to fly a kite with out having trees on the way. There are little bridges and creeks. You can hear the birds and see the beautiful flowers . When we went the blue bonnets had just bloomed and it was beautiful. The bluebonnets you see in the pictures were at the entrance of the Nature Preserve .

We have been visiting this preserve since we shifted to plano , texas. This is a big preserve and attracts lots of locals and tourists as well. This is mantained really well and some really nice trails to enjoy on the sunny days. Must see attraction in plano with Family.!!

What a great place to visit and connect with nature. Very peaceful and serene. We were able to stroll and photograph nature and animals.

For a long time I would go along the concrete path for exercise and nature. Now, I go along the creek trails with my four year old and love all the sounds and nature! She gets her feet wet and skips rocks. It's an awesome place to unplug and take a breath of fresh air! :)

We visited this place a couple of times for refreshing walking trails and enjoying the beautiful weather. Safe, nice trails. Walkers, runners, bicycles all are welcome. If you need a place to get outside for a while, it' s a great stop.

Love this nature preserve. Lots of trails, play area for any that have kids. Lot of parking spaces. It’s a great place.

Arbor Hills is 200 acres of rolling prairie and wooded land. There are approximately three miles of paved trails that wander through the preserve. There are another three miles of dirt trails that snake everywhere. If you are considering visiting, there are several ways to enjoy the scenery.
Playground - There is a small playground with slides, swings and free-wifi for parents watching the kids but want to use their smart phones. It's easy access from the parking lot.
Pavilions - There are three pavilions that can be reserved online next to the playground. You're not allowed to use them unless you reserve them. There is a fourth hidden pavilion on the far north side. You have to drive outside the preserve to the remote parking to find it.
Cement trails - The three miles of paved trails take you around half the preserve. It's two circular loops with the first one starting from the parking lot around the pond and back. The second loop can be accessed at the mid-way point of the first loop. It takes you to the lookout station and back.
Dirt trails - There are side trails everywhere. Follow them for a little more privacy and less people. After rains they are very muddy and in some cases have little lakes of water that have to be sloshed through. I wear wellies after a rain for the back dirt trails.
Back Prairie - I call this out because not many people know about it. There are dirt trails at the top side of the second concentric paved trail that you can walk all the way out to the railroad tracks. It's quite, pretty and remote.
Bird watching - I've been walking this preserve and documenting the bird activity since 2001. I've racked up 1000's of miles of walking over the years within the preserve. I've identified 168 species of birds over the years and through the seasons. The best time to bird is the first three hours after sunrise. Spring is the best season. Middle afternoon when it's warmer and the park is full of people is the worst time to see birds.
Geo-caching - There are a handful of caches in the park including some very old ones placed many years ago.
Biking - Bikes are allowed, but I think it's a bad idea. It's too crowded with pedestrians. I'm a bike rider and will not ride it in this park.
Biggest Negative - This preserve is too popular. On the weekend and beautiful weather you cannot walk 50 feet without passing people non-stop on the cement trail. If you try to go out to the prairie, people and dogs will scare away the birds and wildlife. While Arbor Hills is beautiful, I prefer Bob Woodruff on the east side of Plano near Hwy 75. It's larger with more space to be alone and enjoy nature.

Took my dog out for the afternoon. It was an amazing time, both enjoyed it tremendously. Highly recommend it for time with you family and pets. When it is busy parking is hard to find

I really like Arbor Hills Nature Preserve. It is a great place to exercise. The only thing I would recommend is to not go on the weekends from 10 to 4 pm. It gets super crowded!
I like early or late walks/runs. It is a great place for solo, couple, or friend and family walks. Also , it is pet friendly. There are a few streams were dogs and kids can get their feet and paws wet.
There are also a few fields at the entrance to just sit and relax.
To anyone that goes with pets, please take a trash bag and pick up after your dogs so we can keep the Nature Preserve clean for everyone. Also, pick up after picnics or any other recreational activity so everyone can enjoy a nice and clean Arbor Hills.
Have fun and enjoy nature in the middle of the city!

Great run route, includes a couple of good hills and it's easy to loop in Windhaven hill if you want more. Appreciate that there are bathrooms and a water fountain and plenty of parking.
Personally, I avoid it on beautiful 75-degree weekends, when it is swamped from about 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. by kids, strollers, dogs, photographers doing wedding, engagement and quincenera shots in the middle of the path, and groups of people who evidently never heard of using ONLY the right half of the path so other people can use it too.
That said, if you take the back paved loop which contains the hills, you'll find far fewer people <
Any other time, it's the bomb. You'll often wildlife ranging from bobcats and bunnies to woolly caterpillars and the occasional snake and scorpion. A real treasure.

This is great place to get away from the city. A lot of trails to take. The main trail is paved and is an easy hike. You are able to bring your dogs. The trails are well maintained and clean. A must do on any day.

Ok maybe my title didnt make sense but whatever. This place was great for my walks, it does get crowded on weekends and I rather go during the week at odd times when there is less people. Its a great place for taking pics and has different little great locations to take your kids and show them around. My kids love going here and I highly recommend it to anyone. So go enjoy this great place and have fun.

If you are in the North Dallas area and are a nature lover, I highly recommend Arbor Hills. With trails ranging from basic and paved to off-road and rugged, Arbor Hills has something for everyone. It is a dog-friendly location (as long as your pup is leashed) and a wonderful way to spend an afternoon for a hike or picnic.

Arbor Hills Nature Preserve is just minutes off of the Dallas North Tollway, one of the busiest roads in North Texas, yet when you're at Arbor Hills you can forget the congestion of the city and just enjoy nature. A truly great tract of land preserved "close-in" for your pleasure. Enjoy!

This place is a nice getaway in the suburbs but it can get quite crowded on weekends and nice days. Good place to take your dogs for a walk, rollerblade, bike or just jog or walk.

Love this place. Its huge so never really feels crowded. There's a nice play area for younger kids. The pathways are well kept, there's a mix of paved and dirt. Run, walk, mountain bike or just picnic. Parking can be a challenge, but generally only at peak times on weekends.

Need a change in scenery while exercising? This is the place! A nice place for families, friends, couples, photographers, etc.... always busy but not too annoyingly busy. Love the new trails!

You will think you have left civilizations behind ! There are lots of paved and dirt trails to discover plus lots of cute dogs being walked. The creek is so pretty. This is a don't miss. Bring your bike as well!

I love walking here. It's usually pretty busy all the time but it hardly feels that way no matter how many people are there. You don't feel like you're in the middle of a neighborhood at all.

Located in far western Plano & walking distance from THR Plano hospital, this large nature preserve is simply beautiful. It is slightly hilly, has creeks, & is definitely wilderness. It is a great place to take your kids to explore. You can hike or bike, take your dog for a walk, or take your family for picnic.

Had a lovely twilight walk last Saturday night. Many couples and families strolling and playing. Easy parking. Great to have some hills and wooded areas in Texas! The only problem was the occasional smell of sewage wafting across our path. Hold your nose and enjoy the view.

Had a great 4 mile walk today! About 65% shade which helps on a sunny day. Bath rooms on site, a playground for the kids, and picnic area also.

This is a great park, with a lot of path/hiking options. Great for family outdoor adventure! Would definitely recommend.

My wife and I were training for a triathlon and wanted someplace other than White Rock Lake to run and bike. We found Arbor Hills and enjoyed the few occasions that we came here. There were runners, bikers, lots of dogs, young families, and elderly couples everywhere. It really is a great place to come regardless of your stage of life.

Great paved walking trails along with off road hiking trails through the woods. Excellent numerous biking paths for mountain biking.

... but still the most charming and least 'commercial' park in Plano. My wife and I have walked there every day for 16 years, since before it became a paved and pavilioned park. Although its more developed and groomed than was the original plan in 2000, it has retained enough of the woody, off-road feel on the dirt trails to never get boring. Playground for young ones. Reserved pavilions for groups. Added a new parking section this year, too.

Spacious park with miles of walking/jogging/biking trails. Great place to go with the family or to practice your camera skills. We saw several people taking pictures of the family as well as the park. It is a popular park for suburbanites but because of the size it seems to hold larger crowds well.

This is one of my favorite places to hike in Plano. It has tons of trials: mountain biking, concrete walking paths, and dirt hiking trials. I actually used to run the concrete path and that's how I lost 30 pounds because the trails kept me entertained and got me to run further.
Words of Wisdom: The park gets crowded and full of kids, so go during an off time (early morning or later at night).

Nice trails and neat tower with a nice view. Hard to believe this natural-ish setting is in the middle of suburbia. If you go, be prepared for mud after it rains. Even if you stay on the sidewalk, many others use the sidewalk to leave clumps of mud everywhere as they wipe off their shoes. Also, LOTS of dog poop on the sidewalks.

When you need to "get away" but don't want to drive too far, this is the place. Even on busy days when the parking lot gets crowded, people are very considerate and you can still enjoy some peace and quiet while getting some light exercise walking the trails.

Great weather and nice chance to get out for a full turn around the park. Lots of people got the memo!

This is a nice preserve but the dirt trails have become overgrown and need maintenance. Outside of that this is a nice place for a walk run bike.

It is easy to hike the paths here. There are plenty of other people and their dogs enjoying the vistas. There is a nice observatory tower and a few footpaths off the main ones. Plenty of squirrels and rabbits skitter around in the bushes. It is not overly shady, so use the sunscreen and wear a hat. There is no light on the paths at night, so plan a daytime hike.

As an avid outdoor enthusiast, I love hiking and enjoying nature. However, there aren't many spaces to do that in the DFW area without driving a good distance. This spot is the exception! You can bring your furry friends and let them enjoy the dog fountains provided. There are fabulous picnic facilities and a playground if you want to bring the little ones. While there are concrete paths throughout the area, you can hike through the trees on nice paths.

This is a very nice relaxing place to visit with kids, dogs etc. We always enjoy a long leisurely walk or bike ride here. It feels safe when busy. Bring a picnic.

trails and maps not very well marked if you are looking for longevity and distance and are not familiar with area

great place to relax, have fun with kids, mountain biking (a bit short so you'll need to run it few times) very nice walking and riding path (paved) and great picnicking locations, also have a small nice creek

I didn't know there was a place to hike or take a nature walk in Dallas! I'm used to doing this while I'm traveling and because of COVID-19, I'm not traveling. Which means I'm unable to do outdoor activities. This was a nice place to go as a substitute. However, the trails are a little bit confusing because one trail leads to another trail.
I'm pretty sure all the trails in the woods led to the pavement. Because every time we kept trying to get back into the woods, we ended up at the pavement. Regardless, there's no way to get lost, because it all circles back to the parking lot.

We walk our dogs every day at this park. It is lovely, with diverse trails and a long series of wildflowers in bloom.
Great spot for family photographs.

I have gone mountain biking to many times to count. I have taken girls on dates there this place is beautiful. It has very nice walking paths. Lots of hiking trails and a nice pavilion.

Arbor Hills is a great place for a leisurely walk after a stressful day. The paths are wide and the scenery is a nice break from the city life.

As a nanny i took the kids to a park daily after school. We loved it here for the nice trails and fun equipment. Kids always had fun. I would return in the evenings for walks by myself. I always felt safe! Thats important to me. Beautiful nature all around you! I recommend it!

I really love to hike in this preserve park. You can forget that you are in a suburban concrete jungle. It has so many natural looks that I think it is my favorite single stop in this area. And you can get in a great walk!

Great for walking, but can get crowded. Bring your own water bottle. Very well maintained park that makes you feel miles away.

Arbor Hills has great trails! They aren't all that long (one loop a little over a mile, a second loop is a mile), but the scenery is so nice it's okay to loop more than once! Plus the hills are a nice bonus to find in Plano. They are challenging to run but provide a great workout! The park, in reality, isn't that big, but it sure feels big when you're there! Paved trails as well as natural ones, a creek, meadow, lots & lots of trees! Nice playground for the kids plus a couple of pavilions. It can get crowded so you might not get all peace and quiet you're looking for, but it's still very pleasant. Get off the main paved paths and it's much less crowded.

Hike and bike trails, groomed mountain biking course. Hills flats, tons of wildlife and interactive map at covered pavilion.

We were out shopping, finished up, and needed to take a green break, so we went to this park within this very large and growing suburb. Good place to relax and reconnect. We were happy.

very scenic place in the city. Around fall time it is a good spot to have your fall photography done here.As you walk here in the trails during weekend you would see lot of couple, family have their photo shoot done.

A friend took us here for my son's 12th birthday. He asked my son what he wanted for his birthday and my son wanted to go on a hiking adventure, so he brought us here. It was lovely and peaceful and my son had a fantastic time.

This is got to be one of Plano's finest outdoor activities that is free. You can go here and picnic have a party or simply take the time to walk through the beautiful nature reserve. Get away from the hustle and bustle of all the building and construction and just get away from it all.
I found this with my wife one day as we were driving down Parker Road and we just pulled in and went for a nice walk this was truly one of the gyms of the city of Plano and I highly recommend it to all especially this time of the year when the weathers not too hot

I really enjoyed visiting Arbor Hills Nature Preserve. It is huge and absolutely gorgeous. Definitely great to go solo, with friends/fam, significant other, etc. Perfect for photography! I would definitely make sure to check it out when it is not so hot.

This was a wonderful place to stop and stretch my legs. What a hidden gem of a park! It was quite busy but the park is so large that it doesn't feel busy. There are lots of different trails, both paved and unpaved. I walked up to the lookout and enjoyed a beautiful view from there. There is also a children's play area and a large sheltered picnic spot area.

Walkers, hikers, runners have options.
Beautiful area. Concrete walk ways and you can also walk forest trails.

We have been going to Arbor Hills for years as a great photo spot with our family photographer. My husband and I also like to walk the trails. It's easy to forget you are in the busy city of Plano when you get back in the trees. I'm lucky to be able to go sometimes on week days that are less crowded. Expect people, kids, strollers & dogs on a pretty weekend day. Bring water. There is restroom facility. There are also picnic spots but I think you have to reserve the tables in advance if you want the area for a private event.

Given the sheer size of the grounds this is a full day's visit. The area is beautifully set out with different gardens, areas and water features to enjoy. There is also a huge area designed especially for children which we did not visit this time. As one would expect from such a huge set-up, the ambience and planting differs at different times of the yea and we spoke to a number of fellow visitors who clearly make multiple visits to the place. There is a tram which regularly ferries people around but this is a very large area which is best enjoyed on foot so be prepared for a lot of walking. The area is well served with restaurants/cafes but the very pleasantly set out restaurant in the middle of the grounds closed completely after lunch - although it may possibly stay open longer during the Summer. Do not forget to look out across the lake towards downtown Dallas to see where the iconic opening shots of the TV series was photographed from an aeroplane fling towards the skyscrapers.

Lots of wildlife and we'll maintained paths. Miles of trails clearly marked. This is my favorite place in the Dallas Metroplex to hike.

We have visited several times over the past 3 years. There are nice displays, and the walking paths are well kept. Several Boy Scouts Eagle projects help contribute to the features of the natural area. There various presentations given on wild animals. All nicely done by friendly staff and volunteers. Will make a nice day out with nature.

This is great place to go to the park with the kids and be around nature.
Take your stroller so you can do a nice walk. They get to see a lot of dogs and nature.
I went down to the river with my kids and they loved it.
During the summer it is too hot to go

The decision to get back to nature was made so easy. Walking daily through Arbor Hills has given me a new view of the world around me. Im inspired, more aware and getting healthy. Looks like the same people are out here... The happy ones

This is a beautiful, large park in an urban setting that brings one back to nature and affords an opportunity to take long walks on its many trails. There is a very nice parking area although visitors can park on side streets nearby and walk in as well. There are paved trails, mountain bike trails, and dirt trails available to satisfy various interests and activity levels. Nice meadows, a few hills, creeks, plenty of trees and wooded areas, and beautiful birds for those who enjoy bird watching. For those individuals who are interested in geocaching there are also several nice geocaches and at least one Earthcache available. Definitely recommend this park to anyone visiting or living in the area.

Great nature trail to walk in the middle of the city! Beautiful, quiet and periodic wildlife sightings. I once saw a bobcat while on a run here!

My children and I used to spend countless hours there. The trails were interesting and beautiful. It was easy to catch a glimpse of beautiful bird species.

WHAT A PLEASANT SURPRISE!!!!! My two grandchildren, ages 3 and 10, and I thoroughly enjoyed the amenities there!!!!

This is a very nice park that has some well thought-out nature hike trails.
It's a great place to get your mind away from City Life and experienced a little of nature!

The main walking/jogging/biking trail is paved the entire way. There are also unpaved hiking trails. Over 50% is under cover of trees or in the shade, some spots with nice views. There are benches or stone ledges to sit and rest if you need to. The paved trail with the yellow line (most of the way) is about 4,500 steps (this is the larger loop), so you can get 9,000 steps with two loops. If that's too much, you can cut that by about 15 minutes or 1500 steps per loop, by taking the 1/2 loop. Some very moderate hills, but really, it feels pretty flat. There always seems to be people on the trail, couples and singles; far busier on the weekend. Have seen people and dogs playing in the creek. There's free wifi in the park (tables and grills) and a playground for kids. Plenty of doggie bag stations. Everything is well marked and there are a few posted maps.

The best hiking place in Plano! Try their soft trails to add a little adventure to your hikes. Easy to spot some wild life along the way as well - turtles, different kinds of birds, armadillos, snakes (mostly in spring but they don't bother us unless you bother them!), coyote etc. Kid friendly and adult approved fun place to go!

I love this park. I use to hike and bike there all the time. Even saw bobcats a few times. Highly recommend it if you enjoy nature.

Beautiful little hiking and biking trails hidden inside the metroplex. My pup loves to splash in the stream on a hot day. Lots of little trails that split off so this hike can be as long as you want!

Great park with very diverse scenery and wildlife . Good picnic area with great hiking trails and mountain bike trails.

We go a few times a year to get into nature with our boys. It's always fun for them and nice to spend time outside.

If you're looking for a retreat in the City, this is an excellent place to go. You can ride bikes on a cement trail or through the many bike trials in the woods or eve get lost for a little while on the many trails weaving through the woods. Thera even a creek!

Went there on a sunny summer afternoon. Loved the nature, better than breathing artificial air in the malls and restaurants.
I would have loved bike around there. But no rental bikes available there … so a bit disappointed.

It's a glorious trail to walk to see beautiful nature and muddy non cement trails are more interesting too when you go over a branch bridge over a creek or river

Just enough people to feel safe and yet secluded enough to feel like you are one with nature. People on the path are generally friendly.

Great place to run or walk. They also have a park although I have not taken my granddaughter to it. Lots of paths and forks so you can do a longer or shorter run.

Arbor Hills is conveniently located on the border of Carrollton and Plano and is easy to get to. There are several trails, to choose from - paved and not paved. There is a map that tells you the distance. If you prefer, there is a small creek that you can explore in too. While there are a lot of trees, there are many places that you are exposed to full sun. There are bathrooms and a water fountain if needed. There is also a nice playground for kids and picnic tables to sit at. The playground is not visible while you are walking/running, so if you have small kids you have to stay with them - that is my opinion, of course! The parking lot can get packed as people meet up there and have separate cars, so don't be surprised if it is a beautiful day and there isn't a place to park. Overall, this place is wonderful! (it is dog -leashed - and bicycle friendly too...I think I have even seen roller bladers!)

My teenagers like to go here with friends to Eno. It's safe and a great place to literally hang out and enjoy the outdoors.

Amazing playground for the kiddos! Walking, running and bike paths for everyone to enjoy. This park has something for everyone at any age!

This is a hidden gem in Plano. For a free fun afternoon this is the place. The nature walk is one of the best in the area. The trails are paved and neat. It is very secure. Nice place to jog around as well.
There are picnic tables for families to bbq out there. I love to take the little kids so they can run around.

Believe it or not, Arbor Hills is appropriately named as it is probably the hilliest area in all of Plano. They have several different types of trails including concrete pathways, off-road bike riding, easy dirt trail hiking and more difficult trail hiking. It is a nice break from the city.

First visit, arrived at 8am and walked until 10am. Was not busy but got busier on a nice Sunday morning. By the time we left the trails were very busy and would not have wanted to be there any later because of it. Very little debris along the trail, walked longer loop 3 times, a little over 2 miles each trip. Restrooms were clean with toilet paper. Nice overlook along the way and also a view of apartments, but overall pretty quiet and secluded trail. Plenty of parking.

A well maintained, nice place to walk that removes you just a little bit from the hustle and bustle and ugliness of Plano. So nice to feel like you can be a little bit in touch with nature but have a great surface to walk on.

Arbor Hills is a beautiful outdoor area with nice concrete trails. There is a playground and a covered picnic space. The trails are easy and well maintained. It can be crowded on those nice days that seem to be hard to come by at times. On these occasions, parking will be hard to find.

The preserve is about 4 miles from our home so we drive there often to walk the trails and even the paved paths to enjoy outdoors and get a little exercise.
Seems. Lot of others are enjoying the preserve because prime times can be a little crowded in the parking lot. We have not really had any issues on the paths or trails since there seems to be so many available. We would like to keep this oasis a secret for now.

Walking trails, playground, rest room facilities - all very well-maintained by the city. I have visited numerous times. Good for a brisk walk of up to several miles, or for simple family stroll/playground.

Don’t worry if the parking lot is full there are so many great spaces and trails to walk that it nevera feels crowded. If you are walking the back trails, be aware that wild animals do live out there too. Take non lethal protection and make noise. Great place for kids to play. Great places for picnics and parties. !

This is a hidden oasis in the city. Much larger than I expected. Lots of well maintained trails. People with dogs and lakes and bike trails. All around a good way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Great place for a walk or jog! Well-maintained with concrete paths, dirt paths, restrooms, and playground. A few hills in the mix to get your heart rate up. Wonderful views from a few key spots too.

great place to spend the after noon hiking, biking and having a picnic. Lots of trees, great paths, nice play ground area. Great place to have family and friends to gather.

Great New trails that go through the interior of the preserve with unpaved trails. It feels as if you are in the wilderness far away from the suburbs. You can also walk the the paved trails that go around the perimeter of the preserve. There is a get playground for the kids and great picnicing tables.

What a gem: walking and bike trails, a seasonal creek, dog friendly, Arbor Hills is a wonderful addition to West Plano.

Many bike and walking trails with this nature preserve located in west Plano. Permanent structures provide relief from summer sun. Limited toilet facilities. concrete paths accommodate strollers. Dogs on a leash are welcome but clean up is required. Reasonable elevation change is an otherwise flat geographic location. Small streams lazily flow within the preserve. Narrow dirt trails available for jogging.

Beautiful area for a walk; safe and clean. A variety of walking trails from pavement to wooded dirt paths.

I have used this facility for a decade. It is beautiful and serene. Don't go alone as most of the paths are very isolated.

If you like to walk, as my wife and I do, it is difficult to find a good spot in Plano or Dallas. This is such a place. They have several trails that you can follow.
It can get busy at weekends, but it is a good way to stretch your legs and see some nature.

Nice place for hike or walk. Trails along stream, on hill, and through prairie — dirt paths and wise concrete paths. I have never done the mountain bike trails.

We take the dogs on occasion. With younger dogs (<1 year) still a little excitable the weekend crowds can make the main paths a bit of work. That will change as they get better on the leash. But there are plenty of not so busy paths, plus creeks, and so on, that are great for taking the dogs. So we tend to stay off the main paths, but that's really more a function of our dogs are still a bit of a handful and easily distracted at their young age. Anyway, we like it as long as we stay out of the high traffic areas.

Great place to get your steps in! Twice around the outer loop is about 4.6 miles! Nicely kept paved trails for walkers/runners and natural footpaths for hikers. There are some hills and a great view from the lookout tower on the outer loop path. The park is dog friendly as well! Water and restrooms are only at the entrance near the parking lot so plan accordingly. The picnic shelters can hold sizable groups and there is a nice children's playground nearby. Trail maps are available and trails are well marked.

The Arbor Hills Nature Preserve is a great place to have your child's birthday party, meet up with family and friends for a picnic, have a play date, and do a treasure/nature exploration! We've walked the trails, had fun at the play ground and even skipped rocks on the stream. It's so much fun!

I have been here a few times to take photos of clients. Arbor hills has lots of unique scenic walk ways and back grounds like bridges, ponds, trees etc.

A great place for a fall walk and some shinrin-yoku (the Japanese concept of forest bathing, simply being out in the woods or out in nature). Beautiful spot with some great walks.

I highly recommend Arbor Hills. It has something for everyone - bike trails, hiking trails, and concrete trails. A playground for the little ones, great pavilions for gatherings, and disability compliant. What I like best is the variation of land in the different sections. Enjoy the fun!

Nice place to go for a morning walk or run. It's a nice break from the endless housing developments and commercial blight.

Walking the pedestrian paths is great anytime of year. You can do several miles of walking which will give you great exposure to the park!

Great playground for all ages. Good spot for a quick or a long walk. Nice all year round, you can see different things each time.

nice place, good parking place, lot of trails. Full of Fun for Kids and Family.
You have the option to hike towards small uphill- good for kids, bike along bike routes(but Sunny days it gets pretty crowded).

We enjoy going to arbor hills. If it were closer we'd go more often. I like that you're rather secluded but still in the city proper. Depending upon when you go it can be busy at times making it difficult to ride bikes. There is an off-road part for bikes to the left of the park as you face it so if you're looking for that its interesting with some rougher terrain, otherwise all of the trails are paved. Parking can be difficult during the busy weekend.

Nice place sub-urban park with "nature" paths and places to BBQ and picnic. Decent walking trails both paved and unpaved. Nice overlook structure to see the surrounding area. A creek runs through the park and access is easy.

As other reviewers mentioned, this area has been effected by the recent developments popping up in the surrounding area...the wildlife is definitely not what it used to be.
It is, however, still a beautiful place to walk your dogs, take a jog, or even snap some pictures. We took our dogs a few nights ago and they managed to interrupt at least three photoshoots (oops!).

Okay, first and foremost, these kinds of ‘preserves’ can be found everywhere. The biggest dissapointment for me is the human touch, the nature wasn’t really preserved. You can simply see a lot of planned interactions here...

The only complaint is that it could use some help aesthetically add flowers or some manicuring would be a very nice addition to the walking trails.

I recommend 100%
Is a place where you can go with your family or friends, to try something different.
Nature in the middle of the city. Is amassing.

This is an urban park. You will come across snakes, bobcats, hogs, deer, coyote and mountain lion at one time or another. Remember, they were here first and they have the right to be here too. The outer loop is my favorite. In the summer time be sure to use off on your legs to avoid chigger bites.

A great place to get away and enjoy nature. Great walking paths and places to just sit and enjoy being outdoors.

I took my family here one weekend and we had a good time. We were able to cook out on one of the grills that is provided at the preserve and they also have an amazing playground for the kids. There is also a hiking/walking trail and a field big enough to play frisbee in.

Nice place to walk and awake your senses. A little bit crowded but still beautiful. Buy your tickets in advance, Choose gate 1 wether you're not going with children, choose gate 4 for children =entrance to the children garden is not included, its an additional cost=

Arbor hills is a hidden gem in Plano TX
It's an unspoilt nature preserve that is lovely
Nice for everyone
Has a playground for kids
Can ride bikes

Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano, Texas, is a beautiful escape into nature within the city. This 200-acre park offers a diverse landscape, including wooded areas, prairies, and creeks, providing a perfect setting for outdoor activities. The well-maintained trails cater to hikers, joggers, and bikers, with options for both casual strolls and more challenging hikes. The scenic overlooks and abundant wildlife make it a great spot for nature enthusiasts and photographers. Families will appreciate the playgrounds and picnic areas, making it a fantastic destination for a day out. Overall, Arbor Hills is a peaceful, well-preserved retreat ideal for nature lovers of all ages.

Enjoy a walk away from the hustle and bustle. The Preserve is equipped with facilities, children's playground and picnic table area. Very delightful way to get your exercise. Very crowded on Saturday and Sundays.

Arbor hills is one of the best park in this area. It is a very big park with nice trail and good picnic area. It is good for large group party and family activity in the weekend.

As seniors in Plano, my husband and I have made it a priority to go walking and Arbor Hills Nature Preserve is one of our favorite spots. Anyone wanting to clear their mind and get some exercise should visit this area and enjoy!

I don't live in the Metroplex any more but when I was in Plano, I came here all the time. I love Arbor Hills. Beautiful sanctuary to walk, ride and enjoy. If you come during a quiet time during the middle of the week, you might see a bobcat. Nothing to worry about, you won't get close, but keep your camera ready for that unexpected pic. Plano has done an amazing job creating this environment for everyone to enjoy. Go see it, lace up your walking shoes, and get some exercise!

We took a hike here just after the eclipse happened. This place had apparently been a popular venue to watch the eclipse, but the crowds had partly left just before we arrived. There was plenty of parking at that point, and I'd assume that parking isn't an issue generally.
We consulted a nearby map/sign and saw a good loop route. The trail was also paved, though there are a number of side trails where are not. The main trail is about 40 - 50 % shaded, which is probably even more important in the summer.
The only issue we had was that, on the far side of the loop, the paved trail diverged. We followed the wrong (right-leading) path for a couple of hundred yards before noticing on a map app that we had strayed. My only advice to the park would be to increase the signage to keep people on the main trail.
As we returned, we saw more of the core facilities which are near one side of the parking lot - large restrooms, a playground, and some picnic pavilions.
If you are in this area and just want to escape suburbia for an hour, this is a great option.

Pocket of nature in the burbs. Mountain bike trail and walking paths, but also dirt hiking trail that goes thru a variety of terrain and mild elevation change.
Can get very crowded on weekends. Great place early in morning at enjoy sunrise.

Great for hiking walking and easy bike riding. A place to get out and be in a natural setting but you still in the city of Plano.

Great except to many dogs not on leash.trails are clear and abundent.scenery is beautiful.lots of wildlifr.closr to home.lots of parking

Feels like you are actually in the wilderness just in the middle of the suburbs. I often use the mountain bike trail. It is intermediate, but lots of fun and great exercise.

We live in the mid-cities area, and found the nature preserve as a nice local activity during a spring break weekend. Anyone planning a staycation should add this to the list, as it is a nice respite from the hustle of the city. Our kids enjoyed the playground, and we saw lots of families and dogs before us as we made our way up the nature trails. The kids didn't hesitate to step from rock to rock to cross the shallow river running through the preserve--and I had to muster up a little bravery. Be careful, as some rocks are slippery. We took good hikes up some hills and along different paths, which were labeled with signs. I expect we'll return, but even on an early spring day the humidity and direct sun in some areas made it pretty hot on the trails.

Before all the build up closing in, Arbor Hills had been a more tranquil place to share some time together with somebody. I remember when my kids were small, I, as a den leader brought a bunch of kids threading through the shallow water beneath the rock bridge. We explored and paid amazement attention toward the frogs and small fishes along the bed. It was a wonderful time that both kids and me enjoyed. As kids see pavement, buildings, auto, and electronics all day long, this is a chance for them to be where their parents had been when they were young. Well, things has changed a bit since then. Too many dog lovers, bikers, just multiplied and moved in. When people moves in, wilderness moves out. While the pavements are still wonderful, with all the new trails, it's just not the same.

We enjoyed our walk very much. The trail allows staying on concrete pathway thru forested, prairie and hilly areas. We went shortly after a good storm and the concrete was in good walking shape and kept us out of the mud.

Love this place. Great for adults, kids and dogs. Lots to observe or just relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Had a great time we had a picnic we walked the trail and played soccer it’s a great place to bring kids they can ride their bike or roller skate we will be coming back I. The spring

Love Arbor Hills! Great for walking, running, biking, and walking dogs! They also have a big playground for kids, covered grilling areas, and nice bathrooms!

I've been here several times with my family and our dogs. The views were amazing, the air was fresh and our jog was serene. Besides dodging dog poop every now and then, the run was almost perfect. We go here every weekend and it's beautiful.

Dropped my review from 2017 (below) to just one star, and would have given zero if I could. This once perfect little haven for wildlife has been totally destroyed by catering to the "active wear" set. You'll be lucky to see a rabbit these days. Awful, awful place.
Used to love this place when it was quiet and undeveloped. We would always see lots of wildlife such as bobcats, armadillos, owls, snakes, possums, etc. but, like most places, it has been overdeveloped to cater to the masses. Concrete everywhere, expanded parking lots, and the inevitable aftermath of human infection - litter...everywhere. The last few times we have been we have seen absolutely no wildlife, and that is a terrible shame.

Once you venture into Arbor Hills you forget that your in the midst of the comparatively flat, West Plano neighborhood. The park is a gem for running, walking trails and just enjoying a nice day outdoors. Take the time to get off the sidewalk and into the trails along the creeks.

This is a great park with tons of trails...very nice escape from the city without having to leave the city

Great place to escape from the city. It's fun to explore the trails throughout the park. The playground is great for grandchildren.

Tends to be pretty crowded early morning on the weekends, but, if you get out away from the front part near the parking lot, and especially if you get off the paved trails, it's pretty peaceful. You don't see many animals though.

The shade of the trees provides a nice walking atmosphere even on hot Texas days. Pleasant experience.

This was my son's top choice location to take his senior photos. Beautiful locale. Peaceful. Not overcrowded by any stretch, but lots of folks out and about on the trails - walking, jogging, riding bikes. Great vantage points from the tower, too.

We take our dogs for frequent visits. We also pick up after their "poop"! Just getting out with Nature is a blessing. I commend Plano for their upkeep/cleainess.

If you want a break from the stressful driving and sights of the city...head to the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve to exercise or just stroll to destress...the main path is about 1.5 miles long. Depending on he weather, it can get crowded around 7pm on hot days but there is ample parking space.

This is a great place to walk in the city and still see green space. I enjoy it because not only is there a great network of paved walkways, but a large number of dirt walks and trails where you can get away from the crowds that can form on a pretty day. If you plan to "off-road", I'd suggest long pants, since there is poison ivy around, as well as scratchy plants and mosquitos. During this pandemic time, bring water. The fountains and retrooms are closed, as well as the playgroud, but the trails are open. it is easy to keep social distancing guidelines if you get off the concrete walks. Enjoy and stay safe!

Did exploratory visit to check it out. Nice to see some greenery and walking tracks here with some water and kids will trurn with mountain bikes.

This is one of my most favorite places to visit when I want to clear my mind and take in nature's beauty. I walk my dog out here. The have lots of trails to go on. I always feel rejuvenated when I leave Arbor Hills.

The Nature Preserve in Plano has been a favorite spot of mine for years. I started walking here when i was pregnant with my daughter almost 11 years ago. I never felt unsafe but then again i always brought my dog with me.
The trails are easy and not too long, a few miles at most. The trees have matured a lot since when I first started walking there, which is perfect for the hot Texas summers.
Definitely a great place if you are new to the area. But with anything, be careful and have common sense. I wouldn't go walking at night or evening alone.

This is a garden spot of Plano. Nice for walkers, runners and nature lovers of all kinds! Nice 5ish mile loop! I'll be back🏃!

Trails that wander and take you through wildflower meadows, creek beds, in open, sunny pasture lands, shady treed areas which leads you up to the pavilions, playground equipment, restrooms, benches, etc. What more could you ask for! Come spend a day!
And did I mention open lands for kite flying in March winds!

Wonderful place to walk, play, ride bikes. They maintain everything so well it's very pleasant a fabulous place to spend a breezy afternoon you can have a picnic. From some wonderful spots to take family photos maternity photos just all a great place

This is a great place to unwind and get outside to hike. Many trails to explore. If you have some time you should try it.

Lovely place to walk in rustic Texas country, only minutes from the Toll Road. Nice hills in a normally flat prairie. Paved paths and gravel and dirt for more off road experience. Well worth a visit.

From true wilderness to trails and bike paths, this Plano park has it all!
The location surprises you that this gem has been hiding West of the tollway
and is soo large!!
Playdates to family picnics, it has grills and Pavillions, clean restrooms, water fountains,
great playgrounds that are separated for age, so the Lil ones have their own area.

Nice play area and trails. Kids like to geocache here! Watch out for poison ivy/oak when off trail! Covered areas to stay out of the sun and picnic.

I have visited this park for years. Very nice and popular park in plano. There is a cement trail (1.5 loop and .75 add on loop) with some hills. There are also many dirt trails that allow you to get into the trees and off the main trail. There are mouton biking trails as well. There is a covered area with picnic tables and grills (I assume you can rent it out), bathroom facilities, and a playground. I think there is wifi now as well.
Best part for me is the wildlife. I've seen armadillos, snakes, bobcat, deer, and a coyote!

This is our preferred place to walk our dog. You can vary your route, long or short, on the cement trails or - our favorite - "off-roading" with a ramble through the trees, over the streams and along Indian Creek trail. There are points in your walk where you can actually tackle the odd steep slope and if you stop and look around you can see no sign of being in a city - just trees; heavenly escape! The reserve is well maintained by Plano without being horribly manicured, and there is a lot of wildlife happily living here. We usually come early evening at this time of year (late fall) so that as we are heading back to the car the sun is dipping low in the sky, and the tops of the grass are touched by the gold and apricot hues of the sunset. Come for a walk here and get back in touch with nature!

Good place to walk and play. Has a playground and picnic pavilion. In Plano have to use so many characters so I am still typing.

This is strictly for locals: beautiful nature trails, hiking paths, jogging courses, bicycle lanes: this is the best of local parks, immaculately maintained. The playground is beautiful and clean. I don't think a tourist coming to the Dallas area would find much here, but for locals, it's a golden place.

Paved and unpaved walking trails plus some trails for "mountain bikes". Both the unpaved and paved trails are a combination of wooded and open areas. Lots fewer people on the unpaved trails. Many moms, kids and runners etc stay on the paved areas. The total distance on the unpaved perimeter trail is about 3 miles, if you walk all the paved trails that probably about the same. There are also a couple of picnic areas and a small playground and an observation deck up on a hill where you can get a look at some of the surrounding area (which is mostly houses, schools, arts, etc). Be on the lookout for the bobcat and coyotes! (Don't worry they don't hunt people).

It's so pretty out here that you will always see a photographer and his subject taking advantage of som of the local terrain. Great for mountain biking or romantic walks!

After moving to frisco, found it lacking in the Colorado scenery we were used to. Arbor Hills is my go-to place for a walking trail fairly near my house. Playground is fantastic for the kids, and the preserve is just the right size to go on a walk/hike with the family.

We visited in December 2013 and stayed a week in the Plano area. We did many trips across the state in that week, but made multiple trips to the nature preserve. We really enjoyed it and will go back. Located in the suburbs, but feels as if you are out in the hill country. Nice trials and beautiful scenery.

A great place to spend time with family, friends or solo.Trails are good for walking, running, hiking, bike riding. There's an overlook and picnic area. Restrooms are clean. Dogs are allowed on leash. Beautiful scenery. There's an area that tells about the history and development of the area. Highly recommend Arbor Hills.

This is a good place to go walk where there seems to be others on the trails. Of course if is hot right now but it does not keep the walkers away and even some yoggies. You are surrounded by trees but the trails are not so shaded. Some of the paths are paved.

The trails are great for hiking of all ages and the bike trials are pretty good for beginner to advanced. Scenery is beautiful.

My hubby and I like to walk the paths. It is a big loop so you can't get lost! The restrooms are very clean and the kiddy playground is huge. You can also reserve the pavilions for parties.

Nice area in Plano, needed to get into the nature a bit during my business trip to Plano. This area gave a nice break to the daily work and the concrete streets in the area otherwise.

Prior to the end of daylight savings I've been walking with a friend for fitness at the Preserve. The main loop is about 1.3 miles from the parking lot and back. There are several options off the main loop to add mileage, increase inclines and even off path trails that create variance for walking, running and biking. Lots of wedding pictures and professional photography done here. There's a small creek and it's pretty. Lots of large spiders, bunnies, mice and other creatures can be seen here on occasion. It's not all shaded and can be very hot when sun is directly overhead. Closer to sunset in hot days it is much more pleasant. This is a favorite spot for walking!

I enjoyed my weekend with my family. Relaxing and enjoying nature. I made family moments with my hubby, son and his fiance!

I say semi hidden because trust me, plenty of people know about Arbor Hills Nature Preserve. And while I would like to try and keep it to myself it really is something to share. Dog walking, nature trails, hiking, dirt bicycle riding, picnics, this place is acres of awesome. But please keep the dogs on a leash!

With my husband and my brother, we decided to start our day with a morning walk at this place. Paved pathways made it easier! We will be back when in the area.

Beautiful scenery and wide, easy cement paths make a comfortable stroll for most people. Follow the path to the top and enjoy a scenic view of the area. For those who love to go off path, there are meadow and forest trails that cross small creeks. Great nature exploration for families.

After going to Oak Point and seeing that depressing excuse of a park, we drove to Arbor Hills Park. It's great! You'll find it highly populated, but it's stretches such a large area, it's great. Concrete walking trails good for elderly or handicapped. Off trails for super eady hiking through the terrain. There's a stream that flows through and multiple easy access points to go to the water. Our dog loved it. It's pet friendly and almost everyone picked up after their pet! Yay.
There are a couple look-out points and many great photo opportunities. You WILL see nature at it's best on the trails and the atmosphere almost made me think I was back home in Tennessee!
We will definitely be going back!

It’s really pretty and going for walking or jogging, but so crowded on the weekends it’s hard to keep a pace without having to weave in and out of people or groups.

What a great place to just get away ! A Staycation indeed. You can walk the paved paths, or if you want a bit more solitude, take the dirt paths and you will think you are no where near a city. Peace ... and Tranquility

My friends and I hike here a lot. Its beautiful, peaceful and adventurous. The trails are over up and down hills, rocks, trees and some creeks and streams. There is a paved trail too. Bathrooms are clean. There is a park and wifi area. Fun for family, friends and couples. Best way to get some great exercise.

Beautiful park with walking trail, picnic areas, restrooms, water fountains and playgrounds for all ages. Busy on weekends and beautiful days. Great vistas and hilly terrain. Paved walking trails.

Love this nature preserve. Whenever we want to get away from busy life, this is our family place to go

Beautiful park with hiking trails and walking paths. If you want to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city life, take a brisk walk/jog or easy stroll through the park.

Such a beautiful bound of nature. With plenty of trails through different levels, anyone can find their home here.

This park offers a variety of trail types. Some paved, some not. There are several mapped out trails with distances listed. There is also a challenging 2.2 mile mountain bike course with lots of elevation changes and rugged terrain. Good place for either a leisurely stroll or invigorating hike.

I hike here all the time. If you know the trails well you can easily get in a 5-6 mile hike. Get off the paved path and explore nature but watch out for snakes.

A gorgeous place to go hiking in Plano! It's a bit further away from me than Oak Point, so I don't come here as often, but it's always a really great time when I can brace the drive and make it it here. There are plenty of places to park, so parking is never an issue.
There are a wide range of different ecosystem types, from bottomland forest to prairie to riparian ecosystems. I've tried to trek through all of the trails around here, and most of them are very well shaded except for the prairie ones. Stay out of the prairie if it's a particularly hot day and you should be just fine. Also, there are lots of mosquitos sometimes. I suggest you bring some bug spray and spray your shoes and the bottom of your pants really really well.
Check yourself for ticks when you leave the park too! It only happened to me once, but I accidentally went home with a lone star tick on my clothes- these are the reddish brown ticks with a white dot on their backs. If you bring dogs, make sure you check them really well for ticks.

Whether jogging solo or taking Fido and friends for a walk, this park has ample trails, easy parking and a nice pavilion to picnic too.

Well worth going. Packed at the first few good weather days each season. Clean bathrooms!!!
Go early, parking can be tough. Playground is great too

Pleasant scenes, free parking, and not too strenuous. One point less because the map wasn't easy to find and even if we find it, it isn't helpful. Neither are the sign posts inside the preserve. Best is to go when there are crowds, so that we don't get lost.

Perfect for a nature walk, or a stroll in the woods......maybe not in the heat of the summer, but anytime thereafter.

Arbor Hills is a great place for a hike, picnic or Geocaching adventure. City of Plano has done great job of providing a unique experience for all ages. Paved trails for walking, biking or roller blading. Even has rugged hiking trails for the adventurous. Cool playground for the younger kids and great pavilions that include fireplaces. Our boys have enjoyed this Preserve many times over the years

Great grounds, the city keeps them beautifully maintained! Great for morning and evening runs or just taking a stroll with little ones.

I have visited Arbor Hills Nature Preserve a few times now and am very happy to have found out about it! There is a great network of wide and clean paved pathways throughout the park as well as plenty of nice natural trails through the trees and brush. I enjoyed hiking through the small open grassland portion near the north side on the rock trail as well as seeing the creek/creeks that run through the preserve and near some of the trails. There was also a very neat little viewing tower that gives a little elevation to look out over the nature preserve and watch a great Texas sunset.
If you want to be outdoors on a nice day or are looking for a cool place to go for a jog, this is definitely a place worth checking out!

It's great to have such park just close to the city
There are many trails to keep you entertained for a couple of hours
It's a nice place for a hike, where you can find different terrains, changes in elevation and get close to the creek. Nothing extreme, but perfect to enjoy with the family
I'm looking forward to try the off road bike trail.

This is a great place to just walk or hike. The kids love it because they can explore and play on the playground. My grandson did get a ton of chigger bites because he went off trail looking for George caches.

This is a great urban oasis of sorts...nice trails both concrete and dirt paths to choose from. The restrooms were disgusting and the smell of urine was overwhelming but the park itself is a great place to get outside and not feel like you are in the middle of a city!

Arbor Hills is a wonderful park in west Plano. The trails are always well maintained, and provide an excellent opportunity for exercise, whether walking or jogging. It feels great to be in nature, and yet so close to the city. It’s also a wonderful place to take kids to get outdoors and play.

I've lived in Dallas my entire life, and I recently found out about this trail. You can stay on trail or go off trail.,it takes about an hour to go around the entire preserve on the off trail with hills etc. It doesn't feel like you are in the flat Dallas city at the preserve.

This free park was a nice getaway from the city. We went on a hot day, so we weren't able to appreciate it fully but it still was great! bring water. It had a lot of nice little trails. It would be nice to return when it is a little cooler (it was 95 degrees out when we went)

An oasis in the suburbs encompassing both paved and unpaved walking/bike trails and a separate unpaved biking area. The trails are all connected, so you can get in a 1, 2, 3 mile walk. My son, his girlfriend and I (with their dog) visited on a Saturday afternoon and despite many, many cars in the parking lot, the trails did not seem crowded. Very well-maintained and clean.

Great city escape ... came for an early morning walk over the weekend - loved it and will be back soon. Can't wait to discover all the wonderful wildlife .

My go to park in the heart of Plano. I visit about 3 to 5 days a week. Great place to connect to nature and recharge your mental batteries!

Finally found a decent park in Plano. This place almost has it all. Just missing a pond/lake, but has a creek running through it along with trails to explore the wooded area. Also has paved trails, lookout tower, and picnic pavilion. Great place to walk and enjoy nature! We visited on a Sunday and it was fairly quiet and less crowded than we expected! Even saw some wildlife roaming the wooded areas! We’ll return and hopefully it won’t be crowded then too!

We love to visit this park with our dogs. Ours are always on leash. I get the appeal of letting dogs off-leash, but ultimately dogs can be unpredictable. Otherwise it’s a good short-medium walk for anyone.

This is a gem of wilderness in a suburban setting. The paths are well maintained and you never know when you will come across some lovely bobcats.

This park was nice and quiet you could sit and relax..take a walk or run. All would be pleasing. If you want a place to just relax and enjoy the nature filled scenery this could help.

Great place for walk, jog, bike ride. Well maintained paths and very clean park. There's a large playground for multi ages, clean bathrooms and free wifi!

This is a super nice park with many options for individuals and families.
PROS
* Cement and dirt trails
* Playground
* Can be utilized for many uses, including biking, hiking, running, or just playing around with the family
* If you are a runner, it's great for hill training
* Feels like you are in the middle of a forest when you get deeper into the park
CONS
* Crowds: Over the years, it has become more and more popular. On weekends, it is difficult to find parking. Weekdays are the best

Nice set of paths through some thick trees and some hills. Nothing that strenuous. Not a great place to bring a bike and not many open fields. Nice jungle gym / play area for kids.

hiking trails, biking trails, covered picnic areas, walking trails, dog friendly, overlook vistas, 4 distinct topography areas, parking, playground, water fountains, grills, OH MY! This park has it all.

Hiking, biking, running, walking. This park is fabulous. Sometime the parks gets so full parking can be difficult.

Very cool park. It has all kinds of terrain. Flat cement walkways, soft trails through the prairie and woods, ponds, creeks and ourlook sites. It is big and close to everything in the Plano, Tx area. Very clean and dog friendly.

This is a great place for a family outing. The trails are easy to use and safe. This is a good place for a weekend outing with the kids

This is the only hilly place around Plano.
It's a place for everybody: from babies to seniors.
At this place you can see everyone enjoying every moment.
Family never goes out of styles.

I love walking here. It is the perfect place to walk daily, several times a week or once in a while. It is really beautiful and the paths are very well maintained. This is a gem and I walk here whenever I travel to Dallas.

I love this park. Wish it were closer. Always lots of walkers, runners, bicyclists and kids. Some mild hills but plenty of space so it never feels crowded

Arbor Hills used to be my favorite spot to run, hike, and enjoy nature. However, in recent months it has become over run with photographers taking family and engagement and pregnancy photos. It's over crowded most days and any wildlife once present have been chased away. I am disappointed that more care has not been taken to preserve this once beautiful habitat.

Like the trails and lookout stops. Nice place to do some "trail" hiking that's close to town. Can get crowded on weekends, but overall a fairly relaxing setting. Well maintained.

Excellent nature preserve found in an urban environment. The trails/paths are very well maintained. Excellent place to walk, jog, or ride your bicycle.

This is a nice park to take a stroll around. You have a choice of sticking to the concrete path or walking along the numerous trails. There are signposts and maps posted along the way so you cannot get lost. There is a viewing tower which gives a nice outlook over the park. There were signs detailing wildlife present in the reserve but I never saw any while there.

This piece of nature in midst of urban sprawl is an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. One can take a leisurely walk down various trails. The preserve provides the feeling of security since it is used my hundreds of people every day.
Want to picnic, here is your place. the pavilions are covered and well maintained. One can have a party, celebrate a wedding, or just read a book in somber quietness. The greenery enhances the landscape with the feeling of being in Texas Hill Country.
What about animal life and critters? They are there but just as you are weary of them, they are also of you. You will have fun and come away with a bit of refreshment and enjoyment.

This was my first visit to the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano and I was highly impressed. The park is large, covering several hundred acres. There are thick woods and large meadows, set in a hilly terrain. Several creeks flow through the park, flowing west towards the valley of the Elm Fork of the Trinity River. There are many paved trails, and quite a few unpaved trails. The parking lot is very large, with ample parking for the many visitors who come here to hike, jog, bike ride, or just enjoy nature. Most of Plano is in Collin County, but the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve is located in the westernmost part of Plano, just over the county line in Denton County. I walked on the main loop trail, which was about a mile in length. I encountered thick woods, several bridges over the creeks, and a large meadow along the trail. The terrain is hilly at times. The parking lot is at a high point in the park, and most of the trails are down in the valley to the west. At one point the paved trail goes through a rocky cut of the local rock formations, which is limestone from the Cretaceous Era. I give the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve high marks, due to its size, preservation of the natural forest and plants, well maintained trails, and its popularity. The park is on West Parker Road, just about two miles or less from the Dallas North Tollway.

The preserve is always well maintained. It is a great walk with some hilly paths and flat ground to walk on. Always enjoy my visit to Arbor Hill's.

Arbor Hills in Plano is a refreshing oasis and a great escape from the hustle & bustle of the city. There are hiking trails, scenic overlooks, pavilions and more. Great for jogging, trail biking, walking ... and for taking your dog(s) along. JUST GO THERE!!

This is a beautiful escape from the busy areas. There are many choices of trails. Paved for everybody to use, walking only, and biking only. The walking trails lead through wooded and none wooded areas. Except for the few occasions where you see houses, you can't tell that you are close to a big city. It took us about 30 minutes to do the outer loop trail, that included a few detours.

We stopped here for just a short stroll. Although the trails are marked as to their names, they are not marked as to how long they are or if they loop back or leave you at the end, just to retrace your steps.

Great mix of hiking trails, mountain bike trail and cement walking/jogging path to suit multiple tastes and needs. Great location within driving distance in city. Can’t beat the convenience of all this in such proximity.

Arbor Hills is a great area of naturally preserved land in the middle of Plano. There are dirt trails as well as paved paths which wind through both wooded and grassy areas. These even have some hills (thus the name) which is hard to find in flat Plano. Do need to be careful on some of the dirt paths as bicyclist also use those. There are restrooms and picnic areas and a fair amount of parking but beware, on sunny spring afternoon the parking gets overwhelmed. Overall, a great place to get some exercise alone or with kids and dogs.

One of my favorite walking trails. Clean, scenic and doable. Does have some hills but if u can handle it it is a excellent trails. Also have great hiking trails

Located in the middle of suburban area, is perfect nature scape without going too far. Very popular area, has great parking accommodations. The area has several walking trails that are easy to navigate. They also have bathrooms and kids play area. Perfect for a Sunday stroll.

We love to take our daughter here. From the playgrounds to the fantastic trails that wind through the trees, there is something for everyone here.

We rented the pavilions for a large party and it was a great success. Kids and adults had a wonderful time.

If you want to get back to nature but don't have the time to travel far this is the place to do it. Sprawling acres, numerous trails paved and unpaved, hills, overlooks, creeks, beautiful wild flowers, everything to restore your soul!

Great for the entire family. From hiking, walking, or kids just having fun on the playground. Them the ice cream truck was in the parking lot to cool us off with a nice treat at the end of our journey. My entire family enjoyed our time there and plan on making it a ever Sunday adventure for a while

I went there with my family for trucking and it was great place for trucking. I started going every weekend with my family. Nice time pass. Good to go for trucking.

Great place to walk the dogs. They love being outdoors among the trees and green. Nice easy walking trails and a great look out point. This has become a place we go four or five times per year. There have nice picnic facilities too.

We live very close to this Nature Preserve and love all it has to offer. People drive here from a distance because often there are no spots to park on a nice day. Parking is plentiful, don't get me wrong.
People take pictures here for yearbooks and prom etc. Personally, I don't think its all that wonderful for those pictures. It would be nicer if the open areas were seeded with bluebonnets or other wildflowers for spring. But I also get that the objective is to keep it natural.

This is a rare park in the suburbs where you can walk in among the trees and along a creek. There are also plenty of paved trails for walking and biking. The park is dog-friendly. My little pup loves the woodland trails, especially in the heat — There’s shade, it’s about 10*F cooler in among the trees, and her little paws are comfortable. Bring a couple liters of water if you plan to walk more than 30 minutes in the heat. Once you leave the main pavilion area, there are no other water sources. For families with small children, there is a shaded playground, the only one I’m aware of in west Plano. There are also pavilions with tables, a nice breeze and free wi-fi. You don’t feel like you’re in the city once you embark on the trails. Enjoy!

I always go cycling and jogging at this location. Great nature if you want to jog cycle best place to do it so far for me especially because I just moved here from NY. Enjoy

It is a very nice, clean park. I love it. Very convenient parking, safe atmosphere. Great jogging trail.

I stopped by here to check it out for my dogs. Perfect. Great walking trails by a river make it an ideal place to walk my girls.

Walked the trails and actually felt like I was out of the city for a bit! Saw lizards, birds, butterflies and all kinds of nature! The creek with the waterfall was my favorite. I would recommend this place if you are looking to walk. There are also other people on the various trails so it felt safe.

This place has a nce trail. A great place to come for a walk with family/ friends or pets.
Parking aplenty, I spent around two hours covering the trail, walking up to the observatory, from where the sunset looked great.
You can ride your bike or walk, bring pets or just spend time with your family, and this won't disappoint.
Nice place to just don your jogging shoes, pack a bottle or two of water, and relax.

Arbor Hills Nature Preserve is a great suburban park. It has a 2+mile paved double loop trail and lots of non paved trails for hiking or biking. There is a large creek that runs through the park and an observation tower. Also has nice pavilions that can be reserved for gatherings/activities. Truly is a nature preserve, I've seen bobcats, rabbits, snakes, and lots of birds.

This nature preserve is great for walking and biking!! Paved trails with some dirt/gravel trails and easy inclines. Public restrooms and a play area for children. Great option if you want to bring the children along for a walk/ride. If you enjoy more strenuous, difficult inclines, this may not be your best option.

Quite an oasis in the middle of houses and busy roads. Well managed trail mixed with woods, flowing water and grasslands. Never too busy. Quiet and wide open. Safe and secure for lone runners, bikers or walkers. Pets get a good walk too. Parking area is well laid out and visible. There are picnic pavilions that I have seen family outings and parties going on.

It’s an amazing place to be in touch with nature. My husband and I love to go hiking to this park. It has different trails options and it’s located in the city of Plano. I noticed a lot of people like to go and take pictures.

Clean, well maintained trails. Stop over the bridge and watch the creek. The observatory is also another place to catch your breath. Lots of parking.

Great escape from being on lock down at home. Plenty of parking and outdoors to explore. There are paved trails as well as marked trails to get a closer look at nature. Great place to take in the beauty that is all around us.

The outside trail at AH is by far my favorite trail. Going through the woods with no pavement almost convinces me I’m not still in the city. It’s peaceful & as long as it’s not too muddy, is great for running.

This large hilly park is a great place to experience nature in the middle of a busy city; slightly rolling hills, a nice meandering creek, and lots of grassland. It has an extensive grid of walking paths, some paved, others just paths through the grass - they all provide a lovely bit of scenery. We use the park a lot (as do other folks) to walk our dog and she really enjoys the smells and promise of birds, squirrels and other creatures to keep her engaged (note: you must keep your dog leashed at all times). This park is a great asset not only for the residents of Plano but also for N Dallas and Frisco as well.

I visit Arbor Hills frequently to run, walk and "hike". The paved paths are perfect for running or biking, and the miles of unpathed trails are peaceful and (usually) quiet. This is one of my favorite places to spend a sunny afternoon.

Cute place. Well kept. Great view of the area from the outlook. And never realized it was there. Will go back :)

Nice trails, enough to get a few miles in without the scenery getting too old. Nice shade for in the daytime.

Numerous trail through the trees and across fields. You’d never know you were in Plano still. You can bike or walk
your dog.

Walk, run, bike, chill, take in the scenery, you name it!!! Great place for anything outdoors. Nice grounds, playground for kids, creek and several different routes to take.

For running or biking, these trails are amazing. Some of the best cardio workouts on the off-road trails.

A great place to get outside and enjoy your workout. The birds are especially musical on the West Side of the park. Great place for all ages.

I take my dogs here frequently and really enjoy walking the trails amongst the trees. Paved paths are well maintained. There are many different paths of various lengths. Well marked and lots of fun for solos or families. Picnic and pavilions make a nice place for parties or just having lunch.

North Dallas isn't know for its park and outdoor activity options. This is a nice park to walk and get away for a couple of hours. Its mostly a walking/biking trail with some trees and a decent view.

Miles of walking trails in the park, home to wildlife such as racoons, bobcats, coyotes, turtles, hawks, etc. lots of parking. I feel refreshed after walking the trails.

We have been using this park for over 10 years and have hiked and biked all of the trails. The parking lot can fill up almost to capacity during the busy times and days of the week, especially on the weekend.
My top tip is to arrive early before the crowds and the heat during the summer months.
This is also a decent location to break in some new hiking boots or shoes because of the variety of terrain inside the park.

We're limited here by nature, woods, trails. This place is quiet, even when busy. Shaded areas as well as sunny paths. Bike & hike. Clean restrooms. Very nice place.

Great for children and adults. Playground and picnic area. Call city of Plano to reserve picnic area.
Concrete walking. Plus 3 nature hiking trails. Creeks, trees and forest.

We love walking our dogs out here but be are that it can get pretty crowded with the weather is nice. I wouldn’t recommend biking or running here due to the traffic but walking is perfect. Lots of pretty outlooks and usually plenty of parking.

This place was a great discovery. A nature preserve right in the city. Kudos to Plano city for leaving this as an undeveloped area that residents could enjoy nearby. Nice trails with varying terrain. On the weekend there are quite a few people walking the trails, so it seemed safe, although it is going into an undeveloped area and you're on your own.

This is a nice little walk through nature. The main path is paved and you can cover the entire preserve any time of year. There are also some unpaved trails and a creek runs through it. I have seen a fair amount of local wildlife there. There are restrooms (for humans) and clean-up stations for dogs, a play area and picnic area. Nice place to spend a few hours!

it is such a surprise to find this so close to town!!! My kids had a great time riding there bikes on the trails and playing at the park.

Situated in the hubbub of Plano, this is our refuge from the hectic pace of the city. It has paved as well as unpaved trails, off-road bicycle trails, parks for children, and native plants and trees as well as a creek running through it.
Love it.

After hearing my mom talk about Arbor Hills, my husband and I decided to go there for a walk one morning. It was fairly crowded on the weekend, with lots of bikers and dog walkers. We still had plenty of space though and it was very peaceful going through the various pathways. The lookout is surprisingly nice and the viewpoint is much higher than you realize! Love to go back!

beautiful paved and unpaved trails through woods with hills, creek, meadows and a tower overlook. covered picnic/event area can be reserved. rest room/water fountain

Our visit was in January, so not too many people. Some paths are paved, others not. Nice place for a walk. Good place to kill an hour and get a little exercise.

Plano has as good as it can be network of Parks and Reserves - a needed respite from urban life. If you like Arbor Hills, go to Oak Point Nature Preserve, it’s the best in the network.

Excellent paved trails in a beautiful setting. Very, very popular on weekends, so be ready for crowds if the weather is nice. On a warm January Saturday the vehicles were lined up waiting for a parking place.

This is a wonderful place to get away from you daily busy life. Great trails and there is a Lake that most can't find but walk right by. LOL

Is great place for hiking. I come here almost every weekend the trails are in good condition and there's no issues finding parking space. The only thing is that one part is undergoing construction right now.

My friend and I were visiting the area for a girl's weekend a couple of weeks ago and we wanted to get out and go for a hike. We heard that there were several parks in the area, but this one was closest to where we were at the time. So glad we checked Arbor hills out! It is a beautiful, well taken care of park with lots of different trails to explore and an amazing overlook area. We will definitely be going back there when we come visit next time.

It is one of the best Parks in Dallas area. It is called a Nature Preserve. There is lot of greenery and nice walking trails. It is a beautiful option for family picnics. Walk in the preserve will give you a good work out. Carry packed lunches and drinks and relax. Before going check the weather. See that the temperature is comfortable and there is no possibility of rain. The green meadows will make you truly happy..

This park is one of my favorites. You feel like you are in the middle of no where. Hiking in the woods on marked trails are fun. There is also a wide sidewalk path for walking or biking. There is also off road trails for bikes. The off road bike trails were closed the day were were there. My husband and I enjoyed the woods walking paths and the sidewalk path while our son rode his bike on the cement path. There is also a fun playground for kids. My son is too old for it now but he enjoyed it when he was younger.

Well thank God it was a pretty good day, wseather wise, or maybe I would not have enjoyed it as much as I have! But I did see a lot of "flora and fauna" in this area.

Great place for walking, bicycling, a picnic or just sitting and nature-watching. Some people had pets but were good about keeping them leashed.

Whenever my husband and I want to get a quick/ cheat walk out, we come here. We usually do two circles at least. Nice biking trails.
Extremely crowded.
Arbor Hills Nature Preserve has a fantastic set of trails for either sauntering or jogging. It is designed for the entire family. There is an 10-foot wide cement (unfortunately for the feet) trail that makes about 1.5 miles loop. The longer dirt path can reach about 2.5 miles. The terrain is interesting and several years ago I saw a bobcat cross the trail right in front of me. Unfortunately, it has become so crowded as to severely limit its attractiveness and utility. The picnic area is a crap shoot. The parking lot for such a small park was expanded and is now immense. Frequently, the line of cars going in and coming out is a continuous procession; forget the weekend or holidays. Unfortunately, the large crowds bring people who do not clean up after their dogs and feces on the cement trail and alongside are common. Overuse and expansion of the parking have turned what once was a 4-star park into a 2-star one.
