Lots of people around but everyone was friendly and we didn’t have to wait too long to get into the area for some great pictures. Worth seeing.

We stopped to see Arch Rock during our bike ride around the Island so you need to climb the stairs up (209 steps per the signs).

At the top is a good photo op space with the rock formation as backdrop. There is also a viewing platform a flight or so steps further that allows great views of the lake.

If you want to skip the climb, the wagon tours stop here also.

It is worth the trip to see this natural formation when you visit the island.

Very impressive natural rock arch, which is close enough to the observation deck for a great photo-op. Easy to get to.

Nice stop on our carriage tour. Can be a traffic jam during the busy season. We enjoy seeing and photographing it. Easy to get to for most everyone.

Get your camera ready for this stunning spot. It's a must see on the Island. Not only is the arch impressive, but the view of the coast line from the observation deck is beautiful.

While exploring the island by foot, bike or horse, you need to check out Arch Rock from both the coast and up above. I personally thought the top view more impressive.

My son had been here to view Arch Rock but on a boat in the water, we were actually on the island staying so we rented the bikes and drove to this point, well I had no idea you had to climb this very long stair case to get to the top to have the view of Arch Rock.
I heard a little boy tell his grandma that he counted both on the way up and then on the way back down and he said the climb is 224 steps and when it's a hot day it's a hike. Luckily the stairs are in the middle of trees and in the shade which makes the trek a bit cooler, it was quite the trek but when you get to the top of the stairs the view and pictures you can take are amazing. It was very crowded on the top and it was a Wednesday I cannot begin to fathom how crowded this place is on a weekend. The view of the water thru the rock was simply gorgeous the water is such a greenish blue it was amazing.
The trek back down the staircase was much easier than the way up. I really enjoyed this part of our bike ride.

This might be cool for someone that has never seen any other type of rock formation. Extremely busy and pretty anticlimactic.

Tour guide related a cute Indian story that went with the Arch Rock. It is a beautiful site and we were glad to see it. If you are on a buggy tour, you are give a very short time so don't walk up the big stairs, the lower site is fine. There are bathrooms at this site.

This was part of our carriage ride tour. Arch is not big but rare. Nearby view great. Interesting Indian legend that our guide told us is behind it.

Lake Huron is in the background of this geologic arch formation. Very nice spot for photos of the arch and shoreline of Lake Huron. The carriage tour makes a stop here. You can also walk or bike here. It is crowded when the carriages arrive but they clear out quickly.

Took a carriage ride and stopped to see the arch. It’s an amazing view. The water is the color of the Caribbean. Great photo op!

Fantastic view! I love the color of Lake Huron as viewed through the Arch. Definitely worth making time to see and snap a few pictures. Does not require a lot of time. People were considerate of others by not hogging space and offering to snap photos of each other.

A visit to Mackinac Island is not complete without visiting Arch Rock. Is it a little over-rated? Yes, but it's just one of those things you have to do. When my husband and I stay on the island, we wake up and go for a walk to the arch before breakfast. It helps get us up and moving and we beat the crowds before everybody comes over on the ferry for the day. Also note that with the road erosion this year, you cannot see the arch from the bike path, the path is closed a few yards past the stairs that lead you up to arch rock.

We rode our bikes to see the Arch Rock both ways, it's a lovely view and interesting to visit from the road below as well as the interior road to the top. Don't miss it.

We saw this beautiful rock formation as part of a horse carriage tour. It was great to stop and click some pictures. You can hike or bike here as well, but since we were visiting for a day trip, it worked out well for us to do it as part of an excursion.

My friend convinced me to climb the 207 steps to see this arch. (You can also see it by taking the island tour which I would have chosen if I was alone). Anyway, this is worth seeing if you are spending the day enjoying Mackinac Island.

A Must see whenever visiting the island. It is a trek to get up there, but worth the effort either by stairs, bike or the easy way is horse & carriage.

Cool rock formation on the island. You can see it and take photos from the road, but then can climb the 207 steps to get up to it for a closer look. If you're not into the exercise, we did notice that some of the carriage tours come up a back road so that you can see the rock without the walking/bike ride/climb.

This natural arch is a must see when visiting Mackinac Island. We used a carriage ride to get to it, but you can walk or rent a bike. It will be crowded with tourists...since there is not much else to do on the island other than eat fudge or drink.

This is a little bit out of the way but you can get there with a long walk, a bike, or a carriage tour. On a sunny day, the water is absolutely gorgeous and it makes for amazing pictures.

I spent the day on Mackinac Island and hiked up the long stairs to Arch Rock. While the rock itself is neat the views of Lake Huron are what make this spot great. This spot can get busy though thankfully the day I went it wasn't bad.

This is really cool to see from inside the park. You can take the carriage tour and it makes a stop there. You can also bike in. We biked around the island and saw it from both sides. The best view I feel is from inside the park.

We walked to the Arch and it wasn't a bad hike. The view is amazing, almost breathtaking. Definitely work a stop. You will have to wait in a short line to view the arch, but it moved quickly.

Great view, even in the fog. Good exercise and a very nice, healthy walk. Enjoyed checking out Mission Point on the walk back to town.

We’ve been to Arch Rock before via horse drawn carriage where we were able to hike to it. This time I rented a bike and rode to it to see what it looked like from below. It is truly gorgeous and unique from either vantage points. Definitely worth the effort to see it from above and below. Highly recommend!

We had our carriage tour take us there-- was very glad as the "hike" would have been rather strenuous. It was crowded but worth the crowd. Very pretty.

Arch rock is easy to visit via a carriage tour or bikes. If possible, go on a sunny day to really get to see the beautiful gradations of the water! It makes for stunning photos. There are bathrooms at the sight and stairs in case you want to view from both below and above.

Fun little stop! We did the drive your own carriage which didn't allow us to get out and actually see the rock, so the next day we decided to make a trip there. It's a pretty easy walk from Mission Point Resort, and then up 200 some steps. It can get very busy there with people taking photos but the line moves quick and there are some nice views of the lake shore.

Absolutely stunning views from this unique rock formation. You can see for miles. Sadly this formation we were told will soon crumble. I'm glad I got to see it.

Enjoyed our carriage tour through downtown, past Grand Hotel and up to Arch Rock. Tour is 1.5 hour horse drawn carriage. $30/pp. Stop and stretch at Arch Rock. Very fun...just chilly in mid-October!

This is a beautiful example of nature and is well worth the trip to view this natural phenomenon! We really enjoyed going up on the observation deck to view more scenery to take pictures!

We stopped at the Rock during our Carriage Tour of Mackinac Island (see separate TA review).
Though there was quite a strong, cold wind coming from the Lake; it was well worth the effort, to see this natural wonder (though better weather would have enhanced/extended our viewing).
Sadly, our driver said the life of this stone sculpture is limited; due to erosion. There are efforts, however, being made to see if it's existence can be extended/preserved.
This feature, definitely adds to the Island's natural allure.

Absolutely beautiful! Definitely worth the bike ride there. The view of the water is one of a kind for sure.

The Arch was amazing along with the view. I felt like I was in the Caribbean as there is a rock formation in one of the islands

I took the steps, but there are some hiking trails you can take and avoid the steps entirely if you don't mind a hike :) You can take Arch Rock or Rifle Range trail and get there :) Taking the coast and the steps are also a nice experience though. I would suggest doing the hike first, then going DOWN the stairs and taking the coast walk back if you aren't riding bikes.

We rode bikes around the island so we saw Arch rock from the road level first. We then climbed the stairs to the upper viewing area and this view was well worth the climb. Highly recommended and it's close enough to town that there are a variety of ways to get to it including carriage, bike, walk, and (horse) taxi.

Arch Rock is beautiful. We took the carriage tour to see it. Easy access. Bathroom nearby as well.
It was a sunny day so the water was blue. The coastline is beautiful there too so look around.
Not crowded. Crowds still down. Great time to go.

Stopped at Arch Rock as part of the carriage tour. Spectacular formation of rock and views of crystal clear waters. Warning - people can be quite oblivious as you are trying to take pictures of Arch Rock. Have patience!

Definitely a must see while your one the island but to be completely honest the best way to see it is from by the water. Either take a kayak tour or rent one and look at it from that perspective

Beautiful and definitely worth the 207 step climb to reach the top. Keep in mind that you can also access the arch by bicycle and/or horse carriage. The arch can also be seen from the road below for a different photo angle.

We stopped during our carriage tour. It was beautiful. I’m glad we were able to stop during our carriage tour as they pull right up and it’s an easy flat walk to the Arch. If you don’t take the carriage you’ll be biking or walking up the hill. While it’s not that bad, I’m not sure the Arch is worth that much time and energy. Even though we only had 8-10 minutes there it was more than enough time.

You can see out on the water up where you can observe the arch. Very good view if Lake Huron and Bois Blanc Island

love visiting the island this is a memorable spot if you ever get the opportunity take a bike ride and stop here you will remember it forever

Turn right on main Street when you get off the ferry. Continue walking for about 2 miles. Very level, past gorgeous houses and flowers, then along the lake. Couple of benches along the way. The 207 steps wasn't bad at all! View from the top is so worth it! If you continue on the road just past the steps, you can see the arch from below! Take bug spray! Lots of gnats along the lake!

Stopped by this spot while on a horse carriage ride and was amazed by the view. The water is so amazingly blue and wish we had enough time to go down to the water ourselves.

Viewing Arch Rock was part of our Mackinac Island Carriage Tour. Our driver stopped and let everyone out for as long as we needed to get pictures. Beautiful creation!

Wow, what a view!!! If you see this from the road, there are a lot of steps up to the viewpoint, beware! You can also stop at the viewpoint on a horse carriage tour. Either way, definitely worth seeing...

The view from the top is awesome as it is looking up. Take the steps to the top and hike along the ridge for more views.

If you can do the 207 steps up/down from M185 it's a great workout and a great view - also accessible from a direct route.

This is an easy hike from town & a great site to see. On the hike you will pass the Somewhere in Time gazebo & some great overlooks of the town & lake area.

Wonder to see. Great pictures from lower level and all the way to the top. A must see, both by carriage tour or on your own.

We walked the path to get to the Arch. Not a bad walk. The Arch is really cool to see. You can also take a tour there I thing. Walking from the Fort was not that long.

207 steps to the top and then a few more to go way up high. This was so worth it...and so beautiful. We also followed the path around the top to see another view from the top that was awesome.

It is one of the highlight stops along the route around the Island.
It is a challenging fun climb that offers great vistas and picture opportunities.

Worth the bike ride to the base and the walk up the 208 steps. But bring your water and camera! I needed to hydrate and take many amazing photos!!

Wear comfortable but rubber soled shoes if you are walking. It is also a stop on the Trolley tour. I have never been disappointed having gone to the arch many times.

Rent a bike and head to Arch Rock, or take a carriage tour and they will take you there. It is a beautiful spot.

We saw this via the Carriage Tour as it was one of the stops - although it is a short walk (0.5 mile) from Fort Mackinac. Lovely view and worth a stop

The Arch Rock is gorgeous! Be sure to see it from the observation deck and from below on Lake Shore Drive.

You can take a horse and buggy ride to the Arch Rock, but we chose to hike the coast road (about a three mile hike round trip from downtown). Uh oh! The Rock was above us, requiring we climb 204 steps. It’s fine. Just go at your own pace. Accessing the rock from the west via Arch Rock Road, North Bicycle Trail/Rifle Range Road is also uphill, but may be a better route.
Once you finally arrive, the Rock is pretty cool, but the view on the catwalk above the Arch is spectacular, a few hundred feet above Lake Huron.
By the time day was done, we had walked over five miles and enjoyed sitting for 16 minutes on our ride back to the mainland.

We were delighted to stop for pictures at Arch Rock on our recent carriage tour of the island. My grandson kept saying, “It looks just like Iceland!” We were there last year before the pandemic, and it sure does look like Iceland! On the day that we were there, the weather was very Icelandic,too!!

There are hundreds of reasons to go to Mackinac Island for a visit, even if just for a day trip. Arch Rock is a top 10 reason though. Be sure to stop here and view this magnificent wonder of the island. Pictures do not do it justice. You can get there by walking, biking, or horse/carriage, and be sure to explore when you arrive!

We visit Mackinac often, but don’t always make the stop at Arch Rock. We made a day trip to the Island today and decided to shorten our normal walk. We walked around past Mission Point and took the stairs up to Arch Rock. It is quite a ways up, but definitely worth the view! If you are on foot the whole way, then waking up makes it a quick stroll over to the East Bluff, which the homes are an amazing sight!

We were pleased that this stop was on our carriage tour as it was one of the places we wanted to see. The walk to view the arch from the parking lot is not difficult, and the walk up to the overlook is only moderately so. Restrooms were also available.

We went up the hill of the Mackinaw Island Park and once you are up there you have a choice of turning left to see the Grand Hotel or turn right to see the Arch Rock. I really wanted to see the Arch Rock and even though my husband was complaining of the up and walking we arrived where the Arch Rock is. It is very crowded and rightly so since everyone wants to see it. The view of Lake Huron through the arch is wonderful. We did not stay to take picture as the line is so long. We turn around and went to the Grand Hotel afterwards. What a work out it was! :-)

We stopped here as part of a carriage tour. It was a great place to stretch your legs and see nature in all its glory.

So yes it's a rock formation in the shape of an arch. Nothing really special about it. I'm not sure why it's the number one thing to do on the island.
If you only have a limited amount of time and you've seen lots of other rock arch formations you can certainly skip this one.

We visited Arch Rock as part of our Carriage Tour. Determined it was a walkable destination for our downtown hotel. A beautiful view perfect for photos, but not someplace you will spend excessive time.

Be prepared to walk some stairs. Worth it. The views are beautiful. I think there is another way to access this without stairs but we did not do that.

The easy way to get here is on one of the many carriage tours. Otherwise you will have to bike or hike a few miles.

Obviously a main attraction, Definitely worth it. It was extremely busy and crowded. There was several smaller trails and view points nearby that were less crowded because almost everyone did not want to climb the stairs, that have amazing views worth visiting. I recommend looking around and hiking the trails. It's 100% worth it. And again, Most people are to lazy to hike the trails or do anything besides the MAIN IG pictures they all see. So many trails that people miss out on. Anyways. It is a good attraction and free.

Beautiful and easy to access. No need to be an expert hiker or biker to reach this awesome natural wonder and sight. Carriage tour stops right at it. Short walk to the edge to see it and climb a few steps up a stair case for the view from nearby out to the lake.

Arch rock is really neat to see and the water under it is clear blue and beautiful. It was really busy with people taking pictures of the rock and out on the viewing deck so there wasn’t much time to appreciate it properly. But overall worth a visit.

Visit this unique rock formation before it is destined to collapse sometime in the next ten years. No longer can you climb upon the arch, although there are pictures of those who did. Lots of tour groups drawn by three horse teams at the base, meaning your shoes get wet with horse pee or your bike tires get clogged with horse poop. Nothing beats the aroma of digested hay against the freshwater breeze of the lake.

Beautiful natural arch - great photo opportunities - steps to get higher view. Was not crowded at all when we were there - 1st Tuesday in Ocotber.

This is a beautiful sight to see. Wear comfortable shoes it is 207 steps to get to the Arch and do take pictures. If you rent a bike you can park at the bottom of the steps.

Heading east from the ferry landing, it was a beautiful walk along the shore. We encountered a gardener at a resort along the way and he advised us that if we kept going past the steps up to the arch, we would be able to look up and view this. Glad for the tip as it would have taken some time and a lot of energy to ascend the MANY steps although from pictures, the view from the top down to the water is quite more beautiful. The weather was quite chilly with a threat of rain so this was good enough and enjoyed seeing a natural wonder. The views out on the lake were gorgeous as well.

Great place to walk too and take pictures. It can be a tough hill to battle but, it is worth it. Stunning views.

This is such a beautiful picturesque spot on the beautiful island. Bike Ride through the woods to complete your day on this beautiful national park setting.

Nice Destiination for a bike ride either from below or above. Relatively easy to get to. Also has bathroom facilities right near it.

We climbed the 207 steps to get to the top and had a great view of the water! The steps were shaded by huge trees so the hike wasn’t as hot.

A must see

We got up just after 6 am to get up to Arch Rock. So worth it. We had it to ourselves. Tours will go by all day so you won't get a clear pict without people in it. Arch Rock is just so beautiful you have to experience it for yourself! There are stairs to climb- over 200. Just take your time. You can get up there on pavement, but the stairs are most direct off the "highway".

Quick stop along our carriage ride. There are some stairs up to the platform to see the Beautiful views and the Rock Arch.

The walk up to Arch Rock can be strenuous. I got lost and took the dirt trail of the Winnebago Trail to get to Arch Rock and said trail was difficult; a person is probably better off to just take the paved roads. The views of Lake Huron and this natural rock arch were incredible. There were many people who just gathered to view the turquoise and multicolored water from this natural wonder. There were even little trees which grew on this arch.

Mackinac Island was an amazing experience. The island is beautiful. There’s so much to see.
Definitely go early to avoid the crowds. Allow a day to see it.

We stopped here during a carriage tour. While I wasn't that excited about the actual rock arch, the views from the platform next to it are spectacular!

This view at Arch Rick is an absolute natural wonder. The water below of Lake Huron is crystal clear. Very much worth the time to take in this spectacular view!

We took a horse tour up to see Arch Rock. Unfortunately this only allows 5 to 7 minutes to visit and get pictures. If your time allows, I'd recommend renting a bike or walking in order to spend more time here.

We walked up the hill and all the way to Arch Rock...and it was worth every step! We then took the steps down to the beach and walked back to town.

While taking the tour of the island, we stopped at the Arch Rock. Great views from all around. Yes, get your shots from every angle of the arch but check out the rest of the views. Be patient and wait your turn. It's worth it.

While on the island be sure to stop a few minutes for a photo op at this natural arch with a view of Lake Erie. Accessible by foot or take one of the horse drawn tours of the island which makes stops here, the Fort and the Grand Hotel.

Observed Arch Rock up high in the park, and down below from sea level. Very nice, though not nearly as spectacular as natural arches in the western US (eg Arches National Park).

It is just a very pretty view of the lake. Many people around, but it easy to get to, so you should see it.

The Arch is really beautiful and well worth the effort to see . Fortunately, the carriage tours offer a brief stop at the top as well as a very informative narrative regarding regarding its formation. It can be accessed via bike and walking trails as well.

It was intriguing enough for use to take the walk on the lower trail past Mission Resort to view it from lakeside as well.

Highly recommend a visit.

Great view from above and below. Many people enjoy this place, be prepared to share the view. More people view this from above as they can arrive by carriage and not have to walk or ride a bicycle.

Great spot for pictures. If you take the carrage tour they drive you right by it and let you out to take those photos. There is also bathrooms and a small museum that tells about the arch in history.

It's both a pretty setting and a beautiful view. It is a scheduled stop on the carriage tour. Not sure it would be worth the long uphill walk to get there from downtown.

We took a horse drawn carriage ride through the island and one of the last things we got to see was Arch Rock. It is a beautiful thing to see and it's sad to think that at some point erosion was cause it to fall apart. It was just such a peaceful looking place and I was glad that tourists are not encouraged to climb all around it and destroy it's natural beauty.

It's worth the climb up 207 stairs. I have yet to figure out the road that leads up there without climbing the stairs. When you get up there, there are horse-drawn carriages and people with bikes. How did they get up there! It is a must-see. Unfortunately, the bathrooms up at the top were disgusting and filthy, wet and just nasty. It definitely needs round the clock care with that many people visiting during busy season. It was very crowded.

I had viewed pictures of this beautiful rock formation, but did not plan to make the effort to visit it. Much to my surprise, the traditional carriage tour took us through a part of the National Park and stopped for a few minutes at this iconic spot. I’m very happy to have seen Arch Rock for myself.

Amazing scenery, lots to see. Definitely wear walking shoes and water. Or you can rent a bike or a carriage ride. Go early because there are lots of people.

After walking up 207 steps there was a line a mile line waiting to take a pic. Rock is nice but was a waste of time and energy.

Visited arch rock last week it was beautiful. Extremely busy with lots of people though. We were on a tour so we were a little rushed vs my husband and daughter who rented bikes and went at their own pace.

There are a lot of steps up to Arch Rock. It was totally worth it. So beautiful up there. For those not wanting or able to climb all those steps, you can take a carriage ride up as well. I love everything about this beautiful island!

We enjoyed the view from the walkway of the coastline as well as this beautiful rock formation. The walkway can get slippery when it is wet.

Breath taking views of Lake Huron and sunrise. There are landing areas to rest on the way up to the top. Make sure to view from road looking up as well.

A Mackinac island must see! Climb the 207 steps from the bottom (lake road) or go to the top from town roads to enter.

What a nice thing to see after a beautiful walk up the hill. Gorgeous views and nice little hike. You can’t walk on the arch, but you can scamper around the area.

Interesting rock arch to see as you circuit the island on bikes, the best way to go! We ate our lunch across from it.

We saw 'Arch Rock", it is Nothing Special. We stay at the Grand Hotel, when we Summer on Mackinac Island. We arranged a Guided Bicycle Tour around the Island.
We stopped, took a few photos and left, nothing special.

Absolutely beautiful arch rock overlooking Lake Huron. On sunny days the colors are striking. You can walk or bike there-down Main Street, wind past mission point resort, not too far down are the stairs up. 207-but they are set up nicely, like maybe 8 steps then a landing. There are a couple built in benches on your way up, and areas to stop,rest a minute, look out. We stopped here with a viking cruise (tho I’ve come here all my life) people I wouldn’t think could make the stairs, made it! Just go at your own pace. You can take carriage tours there-but be careful the tour you choose stops there, there are many. Beautiful views from the top, you’ll be glad you went.

This is a beautiful site on the island. Whether you see it from the bike trail or at the top, you will love it. Personally I feel you have to see it from both views to truly appreciate it.

LOL we walked from town to this side of the island without realizing there were over 200 stairs to go up…. And then down again. And then back to town. GET A BIKE. But absolutely magical.

It was a long walk from the center of town up a hill and through the woods to the rock. You can take a horse drawn carriage but hey who doesn’t love a little exercise? There were restrooms along the way and the view of the harbor from the top of the hill was awesome. We went on a weekend so the rock was quite crowded of folks taking pics and selfies. There is another climb from the rock area to an overlook Recommend that also.

We planned to walk to the Arch Rock but then found out our carriage tour stopped there. All I can say is while it is very pretty in pictures, I couldn't get close enough to see it. The number of people there was crazy - worse than any Disney ride!!

Really cool natural formation. Easy to get to, great place for pictures. There's a staircase to the side of the rock that has some beautiful views!

Lovely place to visit for photos and seeing the sights. There is the scientific reason for its existence and also the Native American tale that is a wonderful story.

The view was beautiful from the platform, well worth the 207 steps up if arriving by bicycle. There are two areas to view from, one looking at the arch, the other from the side.

Visited here twice on our stay. A great place to to take pictures. Very beautiful. If you go on the trolley tour it is one of their stops so you don't have to climb all the steps.

Went here on a beautiful Saturday Morning. Stunning view at the top after parking our bikes at the trail base, and climbing about 200 stairs. The arch in the rock frames the beautiful blue waters of Lake Huron below.

Easy bike ride from the ferry dock (15-20 minutes), maybe 1.5 miles. Highly recommend renting bikes at least one day on the island and riding out here. Just follow the main road out of the town and you will reach the base of the trail. The base of the trail is marked. Restrooms at top of trail.

It is a little out of the way and you can access it by any means by bike or on foot via nicely shaded paths.

Stunning view and good exercise. What's not to like? Entrance is not far from Mission Point Resort - park your bike and go see something special!

It was a quaint place. We got there by our carriage ride. There was adequate places for pictures. We also got a picture later from the bike trail around the island

We arrived on bikes, but most of the folks there were with large groups in the horse-drawn carriage tours. There are lines for the iconic picture in front of the arch and for a different view from the side. There is also a stair to a lookout, which we didn't climb. (We climbed to Fort Holmes instead--much more peaceful!)

We enjoyed the walk from The Grand Hotel to Arch Rock. It is beautiful and under-advertised. The Grand Hotel lived up to all of its hype! We had a fabulous room, delicious food, and terrific service.

We took the carriage tour up to Arch Rock and nothing about it was disappointing! The view itself is stunning and plenty of place to walk to catch a different view.

Very busy place. Be ready with your camera and take your turn getting pictures. The carriage ride stops here and guide gave us 10 minutes. You don’t need to climb the steps next to it and there isn’t much at the top

This trip (October 2020) we stopped to see Arch Rock from the road below and learn the history and tales. Pretty cool. I will not spoil it for you. Hire a guide. It is worth the trip. Much more amazing from the top though!

Go there. You must. The carriage tour stops here. But if you are in decent shape and/ or cheap it’s really not a far walk from downtown … but you’ll have to climb a bunch of stairs to get here

This was a very picturesque landmark. We took a carriage tour to get there, and it was very interesting. It's a great spot for photos, as well.

Very peaceful. Unfortunately, very difficult to walk through the area if you have mobility issues. The bathrooms are very clean.

This is a neat rock formation with incredible views. Glad we walked up the stairs to see it. Makes a great photo op too! We thought it was worth it.

If you venture to the island, you must go out to the Arch. It is an amazing natural site. Our day was clear, sunny and calm Lake Huron conditions. Beautiful. The hike through the nearby woods is worth the steps. Views of the lake, and great trees and vegetation.

Make sure you put this stop on your list of places to visit on the island. The views from Arch Rock are spectacular. You may have to wait for a photo op, but go ahead and do it. You’ll regret it if you pass it up. Walk around and enjoy the unmatched views of the lake. It is truly beautiful!

We reached the arch rock at first by horse carriage tour and then returned to visit this beautiful site by bike and kayaking. You have to climbed up some stairs to reach it and take turns to do photos but it's worth it.

We took the Great Turtle Kayaking Company Arch Rock Tour. It was so fun paddling over the beautiful waters to Arch Rock. The guide took our pictures with the Arch Rock in the background. Great time!

I visited Mackinaw Island with my 2 kids ages 7 and 10.... we walked to get to the Arch Rock!! It was absolutely beautiful to see. They do have carriage rides that tour and stop at that location to see the Arch and take pictures. I'd recommend the carriage tour.... but we walked it and it was so rewarding to walk it and see the water and beauty!

Walking up 200 plus steps is a must do when visiting Mackinac Island. There is a nice restroom close to the observation area so can take a break and learn some history. The photos from the days when you could stand on the arch are captivating. I recommend this hike for those who are able.

Worth the climb and a photo opp. Considering the size of the island this is special. Most tours will stop here for a while. Lots of selfies.

This is a cool thing to see. It's accessible by over 200 steps on the front side and by a bike path/road on it's back side. You have a great view from the top. It's much less crowded entering on the back side.

Took a public horse carriage ride that went to the park. It stopped so you could see the Arch Rock. Very nice, but chilly.

We have walked, ridden bikes, horse & carriage as well as saddled horse around the island...8.2 miles.

Got our steps in walking to there and up the steps to get to it. Took the road then a little trail back to get away form crowds and enjoy the scenery.

It's about a 15-minute walk (up a big hill to start) from the ferry along the road and a quiet path through the woods. If it's not crowded, you can get up close from the viewing stands for great photographs. Rest rooms available.

An easy 207 steps up from the bike path. Or take the carriage ride up that path for some amazing views. Plenty of time for pictures.

While we were on the tour of the island this was a stopping point. Great views and nice place for a photo. Plus there is a bathroom here.

We took a tour of the island, and the Arch Rock is a must see. I loved it. The tour director drove the horse and was so knowledgeable. I learned a lot of history.

We started at the base of the stairs for Arch Rock and climbed all 207 steps to get there. The view was great and we got some awesome photos. It is a very popular place and so there were lines to get to the arch for the best picture taking. There were other people arriving by carriage and bicycle on trails from the centre of the island.

This is a must see if you are on the island. Absolutely beautiful. The only bad thing is that it gets very crowded! There was a line to take pictures. If you are on the carriage tour they only give you 8 minutes at this stop so it can be very rushed.

Got off of our bikes and climbed up to the top. It was beautiful and worth it! Amazing view of the clear water and Lake Huron.

Our first view of this was during our horse carriage ride. The view from up there to see the water below was beautiful. I couldn't wait to take a bike ride to see it from the other view. Be sure to see this when you're there.

I rode my bike to the rock and it was a short ride. It was a Friday afternoon in July so super busy but I still was able to enjoy. I walked to the top and viewed from below. A must when you visit the island.

This amazing look out point can be both reached from the coastal highway that goes around the island, via a long stair- for those wanting the exercise- or from an inner road close to the top of these stairs that's usually taken by the carriage tours.

Beautiful natural rock formation. Very good for a photo op. The view is best from the top area. Not worth it to go up the many stairs. Very crowded in August so, we were only allowed 5 minutes to stay and take in the beauty.

Beautiful vista amongst a well maintained area with shady trails. Restrooms available at the site. Nearby benches make it a perfect place to relax and hear the waves of the clear blue water crash into the shores below.

Worth seeing. It was beautiful. It wasn’t too crowd and didn’t have to wait long to take pictures. We took the self bike tour which brought you right to it.

Time continues to deteriorate the formation which offers some spectacular pictures from different angles if you stop at first level and then continue to observation level at top. Pictures of your companion with the bay in background are worth the effort to climb to top.

Very easy to get to by bicycle and fun bike trails all around Arch Rock. Bathroom at location so that is a plus.

We rented the bicycles after the ferry ride and took the 8.2 mile ride around the island. One of the stops was Arch Rock !! You have to climb a few steps, but the view and picture opportunity is worth the ride and small hike to the top. Arch Rock has pretty views to make memories.

Amazing views. Long walk up the steps but so glad we did it. Both my 3 year old and 6 year old were able to make the walk.

Great place to visit. We biked and hiked all over the island and had a wonderful time, if only for 24 hours.

Mackinac Island should do something about the horses. We understand that back in the early 2000s, they used diapers on the horses, but now a clean-up team patrols the streets every so often. Not quite the same and distracts from the walking, biking and exploring by forcing you to watch where you step or ride. This also applied to hikes to other parts of the island. The smells and sights of the waste were the only disappointing part of the trip.

It was a long 209 plus step hike up from the road, but well worth it. The view was great! The other access from inland was under construction.

This is super cool and you can climb up onto a bridge type thing to get a better look, as well as being able to look out onto the lake. It’s about a mile away from the city, but worth the hike out there.

We have been to the top many times before and seeing the view overlooking the water and this was the first time we had taken a bike I’m going on the trails to see it from that point of view. Definitely worth it to rent the bikes.

We rented bikes for the 8.2 mile journey around the island. It was a nice ride. Along the way, we stopped here and hiked up the stairs to the top viewing area for the arch. It was not a really challenging climb, but it is not trivial. As we reached the top, I recall saying "what, we could have taken a carriage here...". There are also road paths if you don't mind peddling or walking up the street. The view from the ring road of the arch is also a nice addition to the experience.

this is a beautiful spot that can be reached via tour carriage (horse & buggy) or easily by bike from downtown. Amazing views.

There are two ways to get to Arch Rock. You can walk from Arch Rock Road which is inland, or you can hike/ride the coast road which takes you past a spring and then to the stairway (207 steps) up the cliffs and to the lookout. I personally prefer the latter! There are some stunning views of the lake in dazzling shades of turquoise, teal, cobalt and sandy beige.

The rock itself is a neat formation and also some great views. It's always nice to have a chance to get away from the bustling main street, although during peak it can be quite crowded here too.

We enjoyed the carriage ride through the forest on Mackinac Island. The tour guide/driver was very knowledgeable. Our carriage was pulled by three horses. Being able to see the Arch was great. The Arch was only 100 feet or so from where our driver parked the carriage. If you have time it is worth the cost and time to visit.

We hiked here at sunrise and had a fantastic view…,no crowds either ….,enjoyed seeing Ladyslippers on the hike too.

Was on a carriage tour and we stopped for a few minutes at Arch Rock. It was interesting and a great photo spot. Too bad that it is eroding.

It is pretty to see but it is a rock! I am glad that we stopped and saw it. Was pretty busy but we were able to get some good photos.

We viewed Arch Rock as we were bicycling around the island. There is a wooden staircase (many steps) to climb from that point but you can also view it from the side on the trail. Later that day, we rode our bikes up on the bike trail above the fort and rode to Arch Rock. It was worth the climb up the hill with our bikes to reach the trail since our knees don’t do that many steps well. Highly recommend!

If you’re a first timer to Mackinaw Island, I think its worth walking up the large flight of stairs to see the rock and the impressive view of the water, but, frankly, its also a tourist trap. You’ll be waiting in line just to get pictures.

Great view overlooking the waters of lake Huron. Easy access from your horse carriage with only a few steps up.

You can access the arch from the top or down on the perimeter road. I like the view from the bottom looking up better plus it is not nearly as crowded. It is an interesting site and worth the effort to see it from both vantage points. The horse and buggy’s main tour stops here at the top but you can walk or bike the low flat road.

This is a must see on the island. Take the carriage tour and the driver will share great history of the island - it was amazing

A must do on the island. We climbed 207 steps and enjoyed the view of beautiful Lake Huron along the way as well as from the Arch. Nice photo opportunities to save great memories.

Instead of bike riding around the island, we hiked through the middle of it. We saw many beautiful sites including Arch Rock. We were there on a record breaking crowded, busy day. When we got to Arch Rock, people were waiting in line to take pictures. We didn't get that perfect even, right in the middle pix, but we snapped a few which aren't too shabby. Go see this spectacular site by hiking, biking, or horse back riding. It is one of the many island's gems.

We biked the island and stopped here along the way. It is over 200 stairs to climb to the stop for the view. Its beautiful. One of my favorite spots on the island! Would recommend taking a carriage tour, which stops here. Save your legs the climb.

We enjoyed the walk to The Arch and the Arch itself. Beautiful place to visit. If you go on a rainy day, wear boots or get muddy.

Lark crowd on the viewing platform, but it is a beautiful view & folks quickly moved in to get a picture & moved on!

What else needs to be said? Sunrise, Mackinac Island style. If you get to Arch Rock early enough magic happens.

You can see this arch about a mile out of the harbor area on the southeast side of the island. For a better view and a nice picture, park your hike and walk up the staircase for a view of the arch and lake.

Great place and jaw dropping view. really worth the walk. Just rent a bike and ride around the island. Worth every minute and sweat!

We enjoyed our time on the island. There is a lot of American history to be experienced. I would recommend for families. I would recommend the the Iroquois Hotel as superior to the Grand.

It was a beautiful day and the 207 stairs up to see arch rock was worth it. You can see the back of it from the bike trail but go up and get pictures from the top, you’ll be glad you did

The arc is located near east shore of the Mackinac Island.
If you riding a bike, it’s not far from the main entrance of the Fort Mackinac(about 10 minutes of riding).
There is a platform situated above the rock with the great view of the lake.
Even in October, this place was very crowdy. There was a lot of carriage riders.
The best is to wait until crowd will pass. There are some benches nearby.
Beside of sunny spot on the platform, this place is shadowed, covered by tall trees.
It’s worth to see it.

This is another place I go to every time I visit the Island. This year I took the carriage ride up to the top, it was very nice.

The Arch Rock is a must see. Very beautiful! Make sure to see it from the top. Well worth the 206 stairs to get to the top!!

Perfect for photos and the view. They say this arch is getting weaker, so enjoy it will you can. It may not be here in another 20 years.

It is a rock. It isn't expected to last another 50 years so everyone needs to rush up and see it. Highly recommend Mackinac Island Carriage Tours to get there

I believe you can bike in, but we chose to see it on a longer hike around the Island. This was a huge highlight of our trip.

Such a pretty natural arch and nice setting. Enjoyed the little park it sets in and the opportunity to view the lake beyond.

Beautiful overlook on Lake Huron and an interesting geological feature. We were told that the arch is continuing to erode and may not be present in 70 years or so. So, you better make plans to visit soon or... Now you don't.

Beautiful place to hike. About 220 steps up. Bring water. I saw horse and carriages at top so there are alternative routes if stairs are too much.

Taking a horse and buggy ride will take you thru the Park where the Arch will be seen. Also, we were able to step off buggy and walk around.

Beautiful scenery! I've been here twice with my family. The arch is beautiful! It would be more beautiful if you were out in the lake with a boat. That will be much more beautiful! Anyhow, it's not just the arch that is beautiful, but the view of the lake is very beautiful! It's a little of an hike to get there but you can either buy their tour package and they will take you to tour all the spots with their horse carriages.

You can access the Arch Rock from the road that travels around the island. It is 100+ stairs to get up there.. OR you can take a bike ride or carriage taxi to the arch and just hop off the horse carriage (much easier for older guests) It is a beautiful view from a high point on the island! Take lots of pictures!

This is a gorgeous stop on the carriage ride and well worth a picture shoot. It was amazing to see the natural formation.

It's a one mile walk from ferry to Arch Rock. Easy walk or bike ride. You can view from bottom but way better viewing from top. So I suggest going up the steps to top, I think it was 219 steps or so

We visited from below and above. Pretty crowded up top but people were friendly and it was easy enough to get in and get a photo which is what we all wanted!!

We went the first full week of October the color was fantastic. We rode our bike around the island and stop to see the arch. It is worth the stop. You can take the carriage ride which is fun.

Don’t waste your money. It’s an easy 1.2 mile walk from town. The Arch was a bit crowded but worth the walk. Restroom are also close.

We didn’t count but the sign said 207 stairs. Neat place for sure. I view from above was my favorite. Take the hike, do it!

Beautiful experience. When we went, it was busier than I would have liked but worth it. This stop was part of our tour and I am glad we were given the opportunity to enjoy it. There is also a small museum a short walk from the actual arch.

This is not far from the main shopping area and worth the walk or carriage ride to see it. There are steps required to reach the top so it is not accessible for everyone. Great place for some beautiful photographs of the lake as well.

The climb to it was fun. 207 stairs to the amazing wonder of nature. Must watch when on Island. Spend some time time in nature centre . A naturalist at the centre is cherry on the top.

There are a hundred people outside this small picture view! Tight squeeze for an unimpressive view. Might as well see it while you are there though.

We walked up to arch rock at 8:00 am from the ferry dock it took about 25 minutes to get there. It was a beautiful peaceful paved walk. We were the first ones up there had it all to ourselves for 20 minutes, a perfect sunny morning. If you visit the island this is a definite must!

This is a real gem. We rented bikes to ride perimeter of the island. 207 steps, but several flat areas to break up the climb. Very doable for many fitness levels. The arch has a great view of the watee. Cool natural arch.

Arch Rock is a Mackinac Island staple and is fun to see from both the top and the bottom of the formation. It can get busy and you often have to wait for a photo op, but we were lucky on this rainy Thursday morning as there wasn't anyone around but us this time.

You can see it from a carriage tour but if you are biking around the island - take the climb to the top. 207 brutally steep steps to the top and another 20 or so to the next platform but just keep telling yourself how fit you are and how amazing you are for getting to the top! The view is spectacular and you won't regret it - so long as you have ice packs and bio freeze waiting in your hotel! :) But seriously, its worth seeing this from both the top and the bottom. You'll thank me later.

We visited with our kids while on a tour (we’d been before together), very beautiful! Love the tale told that goes along with it as well on the tour. The pictures you’ll get there are beautiful, but be prepared to wait in line to take them, and ready to act fast once it’s your turn! Still a must see when you visit!

We walked the flat path from town and it was about 15 minutes. Once we arrived we did not take the stairs up to the arch but feel we still got to see the beauty. So if you are hesitating to go because you don’t want to walk up hill know the view from below is still spectacular and the walk from town along the water it beautiful and flat. .

Definitely recommend. Took the carriage ride up so we got to hear some of the legends behind the rock formation. Beautiful views!

On our bike ride around the island, we saw the staircase for Arch Rock. It was not crowded and the staircase does have small platforms in case you need to stop. There is a way to ride your bike to Arch Rock, but you have to find the trail for it. There are bathrooms nearby, not port-a-potties, but there are no water fountains to refill your water bottles.

Bicycle shops are every few feet and all charge within a dollar or two of each other. We rented from Island House Bike Shop and were very pleased. The two seater tandem bike was fun and easy to navigate. Since bicycles (and horses) are everywhere, there are bike parking spots everywhere. A highlight on our bike route was Arch Rock. Lots of steps, but worth the view. There are restrooms on top and a new nature museum. Also, it is heavenly to sit on the rocks below Arch Rock and enjoy the lapping waves along the shore.

There are a lot of stairs to get to Arch Rock, but it's totally worth it!! We saw people on carriage tours, so if you can't do stairs you can still take in the gorgeous view!

We visited as a stop on our carriage tour and thought this was a lovely little spot. My only complaint really is that the carriage tours don't give you enough time here!

nice easy hike from Fort Mackinaw but it was a warm day while the majority of the hike is along a nature trail with signs marking the flora and fauna found in this area. It can get really crowded but everyone has patience and enjoys the arch

You can get here a couple different ways-bike/walk or take a carriage. Great place to take a group picture and the view is just amazing of the water/surrounding area.

We pedaled to this location twice. It is a beautiful feature and the walkways to it and above it allow for good photos.

Great place to stop and take a picture. This place also has bathrooms available for public use if needed.

Rode our bikes from the B&B to this spot. The proceeded to climb a couple of million stairs (ok, ok, not that many - think it was 230 or so) from the raod. It is a great spot for a photo-op.

This has a spectacular view from the water. Highly recommend getting out there to see it. the water around is super clear and cold, refreshing.

How can you say anything negative about a beautiful view. It is. However, I was not expecting the huge crowd and long line to take a 3 second photo. Then you walk out from a view of the water crammed next to a bunch of other people.
Did we take a picture? Yes. But honestly that’s the only way I’ll have seen the rock because you smile for the camera and are quickly jostled out of the way for the next tourist.
Was it worth it? Sure. Was it the best thing I saw on Mackinac? Not even in the top 10.

We visited The Arch as it a popular place to visit while vacationing at Mackinac Island. We climbed the 207 steps it takes to reach the top of The Arch. We took pictures and a selfie.
We also went on a carriage tour through Mackinac Island Carriage Tours which makes a stop here on the tour. During the carriage tour we were allowed to get out for 7 minutes.
During our carriage tour our guide told us the story related to the history of The Arch, which was interesting.

Picturesque view of the island and surrounding Lake. It's worth the climb. If you can't, there are carriage rides that take you to the top. While there, be sure to stop by the cemetery and other local viewpoints.

Worth the trip up. We walked up once and rode a carriage tour the second time. Beautiful views. Definitely recommend.

Be prepared to climb several stairs, but worth the stop if you are riding around the island. You just need to be in good shape to climb the stairs!

The view was incredible the day we were there. The walk to get there was very enjoyable. Highly recommend the island.

On southeast corner of the island behind the Mission Point Inn, a pleasant bike ride or a healthy hike up the 207 steps. (Or walk there from behind the fort on more level path.) Beautiful!

It’s no wonder the rock is what travelers mentioned upon visiting the island. Very cool sight to see. I recommend stopping by the rock if you are in the park.

Short walk from the grand hotel but you'll get your steps in (207 of them to be exact) walking up to it. Make it a round trip and walk by the fort on your way out.
