Beautiful

By Verne K |

A great place to spend a day or more! Many spectacular arches, even more if you're able to hike. Just don't go in summer.

Spectacular Views!

By jennifervTRAVELZ |

Go in the morning before it gets hot or crowded, and you'll get to enjoy most sights to yourself. Gorgeous park.

Best place to watch a sunset or see the Milky Way for some time time viewing

By isthatyourdog |

We camped at the camp ground and highly recommend the trail that leaves around campsite 51 and does an easy loop with stunning views an a small slot canyon/fins and hikes through an arch to come out back at the campsite. The views at sunset are stunning and the views of the sky on a moonless night with no light pollution are even more spectacular. No timed entry after 4 and no wait and even if you don't stay in the park just drive all the way to campground and park and watch the sunset !!!

Hikes galore

By Anantha |

One of the best national parks I have been so far. Plenty to see and hike. Delicate Arch, windows, landscape arch hikes my favorites… book for he earliest times entry in summer months as once the sun is out even easiest hikes will be strenuous…

Arches Galore

By Allison I |

Great visit, did some smaller hikes with my parents that are late 70's and they enjoyed it, we then did Delicate Arch while my parents went and looked at some scenic views. Great family place to visit.

So amazing but be prepared for the crowds

By Michelle L |

So even doing my research I was amazed at how busy this park is however like Rocky Mountain they handle the numbers fairly well.

We started in the park at 6:30 and began with Delicate Arch. It's not an easy hike but doable if you take your time (not a lot of shade would suggest doing it early and bring water). The hardest part is the climb up (and later back down) the slick rock. Our group ranged in age from 8-67 none of us in particularly great shape but we all walk/hike locally fairly often. The view of the arch from the top and at the arch is worth the hike. Bring a snack and enjoy your time there. Be prepared for lines to take pictures with the arch. People were overall courteous and friendly taking pictures for each other. Beware of ravens that were going through unattended packs looking for snacks, they weren't aggressive but don't leave anything that might be a problem if they took it like car keys.

After delicate arch we drove out to Sand Arch (very easy to get to if you can walk through sand) and Broken Arch (also a very easy hike but very little shade) which was the quietest part of the park. We then had a picnic lunch at the Devil's Garden picnic area (several covered picnic tables).

After lunch we went back in to the more touristy part of the park to the Windows region. This was a very busy parking lot but you can reach 3 arches from here. Double Arch is a fairly easy hike to the base of the rock face. You can then scramble up to the top but that's a bit trickier. The Windows and Turret Arch are on the other side of the park lot (a short trail/staircase separates the two parking lots so no need to move your car). A bit more difficult than Double Arch but completely doable for most people.

We finished our day at the Visitor's Center turning in Jr Ranger books (rangers were awesome). Gift shop was crazy busy. Lot's of parking at Visitor's Center.

They are a timed entry park during peak season so between 7a-6p you need to have a premade reservation to enter the park.

Very Cool Place

Arches National Park is definitely worth a visit. You can see the highlights in a day, but an extra day or two will really allow you to to experience the whole park. It isn't a large park. There are tons of arches to see and the main drive through the park has some beautiful views. My favorite arch in the park was Double Arch. If you don't have the capability to hike out to the most famous Delicate Arch, there is a good viewpoint you can go. Just continue on the road past the parking lot for the arch and you will get there in a few minutes. It requires a short uphill hike too but the view is worth it. I hiked about eight miles and was able to reach Balanced Rock, Double Arch, the Delicate Arch viewpoints, Sand Dune Arch, Broken Arch, Landscape Arch, Tunnel Arch, and Pine Tree Arch. We also drove the entire road and saw more arches from the road too.

Beautiful.

Beautiful scenery. This is a different park than we've been to before. We only found one exit and one entrance. Would be interested in typing the camping next time.

Beautiful Park!

By Vicki G |

Arches is a must do in Utah!! The timed entry was a bit of a hassle but was well worth it. We able able to hike up close to several of the arches including the Delicate Arch. The park has well marked trails and guides to answer our many questions about the park.

Exceeded Our Expectations

By KaiFl |

This is the 25th park I visited and it's up there in our top five. If drive on your own a timed- entry is required. I recommend a tour that will take you to all the highlights plus. You might pass some sights on your own.

Can't beat a National Park!

By Michele B |

Awesome experience! Again, God does not disappoint! National Parks are a treasure for sure! My favorite hike was the Sand Dune Arch hike, easy and you get to get back in the rocks!

A must hike in a beautiful state park

By MICHAEL S |

What a great day of hiking. We were assisted by a great guide Alyssa.
She was very helpful and explained a lot of different plants and sites.

Amazing trip !

By Maxim B |

Mark Trunzo was so nice with us. Great tour, amazing landscape. It will blow your mind. Thank you so much for the experience !

Awestruck!

By Mandy B |

We were awestruck! The beauty is overwhelming. We hiked, we saw the arches, we learned so much. Hoping to return in the fall when it's a bit cooler so we can hike some of the longer trails.

A wonderful glimpse of rocks to visit

By Giagia |

I was there in 2015, 6 months pregnant, and I returned this summer with the baby and husband who were delighted, it's always nice to go back, immense views, rocks carved by the wind, if you pass through Moab you have to stop by

A Must Visit

By Richard N |

Despite the hype about parks like Arches, it is still absolutely worth going. We needed a Timed Pass Entry to gain access, which is fine, but does necessitate a little pre planning. This policy probably minimised the queue at the entry point so had its advantages!

The Park is doable in one day dependent on how far you wish to walk. We did the Delicate Arch hike, the Landscape Arch Trail, the Windows area and stopped at most other points of interest. It was a full day but very special.

It was very hot when we were there so folks should be aware of the lack of shelter in most areas and take precautions. It's a land to be very sensible in, carrying water, wearing a hat and sunscreen, plus sensible footwear. And go at your own pace!

Stunning Vistas and Scenic Hikes at Arches

By Stefan B |

Breathtaking red rock formations and arches at every turn in Arches National Park. Hike to Delicate Arch for incredible photos. Camp under the stars and wake to stunning vistas. Get an early start to beat crowds at popular viewpoints. Park gets very hot in summer so plan accordingly. Don't miss this Utah treasure!

Best Thing To Do in Moab - MUST SEE

By Grover R |

There is a reason Arches is the number one attraction in Moab and it may be my favorite of the Utah 5. We visited all 5 parks in March and there is something amazing and magical about Arches National Park and the arches in it. One of the great things is the hikes are not that long and with that much elevation so you can do a couple in the morning and something different in the afternoon. However, the best thing about each hike is there is an amazing arch to see at the end. You don't necessarily have the 2,000 foot drop overlook, but these arches are amazing destinations of their own.

While there are hundreds of arches within the park, there are 4 that are MUST SEE for any visit. In my favorite order, they are 1) Delicate Arch - the most amazing natural site in an incredible amphitheater like setting, 2) Double Arch - The combination of two sizable arches in almost a diamond formation is an amazing sight, 3) Landscape Arch - The longest arch outside of China in the world and equal in amazement to Delicate Arch that it can even stand and 4) The Windows - two large arches in the same fin that create the appearance of a set of glasses sitting on a ridge.

However, there is more in the way of fins, towers and rock formations that can be seen at the park entrance and other ridges like Firey Furnace and Devil's Garden. All of these things make this one of the best National Parks in the country, definitely top 10 and probably top 5.

There are some tips to see everything because the park can become crowded. Our group did morning trips to Arches because you can control when you get in the park. We entered at 8:00 both days. We combined Devil's Garden with Windows/Double Arch one morning and Delicate Arch and Park Avenue the next. When then spent our afternoons in Canyonlands which is less crowded. We did not have any problems with crowds in the mornings and we were there on a weekend.

Awesome Arches

By D V |

This was my second visit. First for rest of family. Arrived early as heard lines can get long. No trouble getting in but it was getting busy already - mid March, week day and the crowds were there! VERY windy. Couple of the stops were tough as the sand was blowing in our faces. We did some walking and some hiking. Agreed that the fav spot for us was the double arch. Spent the most time there. Did not hike to the Delicate arch as the parking lot was full. Opted for the lower scenic viewing spot. Construction going on and the path was being redone so a little rough walking up it. Definitely not the same as being up and close to the arch but kids could say they saw it. Spent most of the day here. Came back 2nd day and visited a few spots we didnt get in the previous day. Wasnt a very long stay but when we left the park (mid morning) the cars were lined up to point that said 1 hr wait to enter.......

Awesome NPS, don’t forget your permit!

By Cryptic_Tourist |

My group loved this park, the trails are pretty accessible for all levels just watch out for the heat and check AllTrails first for conditions. We loved the permitting system as it did seem to cut down on the amount of people in the park and we found parking at almost every stop. Simply go online at recreation.gov to reserve, I believe it’s $2 per permit and you can only have one per day. Obviously if you get to the park before sunrise, you don’t need a permit to enter or to hike Delicate Arch which was an awesome hike (not super accessible) and I believe you only need a permit April thru October. Double check the website tho!

Beautiful arches and hikes

By joaniemaria |

A fabulous national park. One of my favorites. I recommend hiking to Delicate arch. It is steep, but all ages can do it. The double arch hike is flat and wide. It is a great view. The lower delicate arch walk is ok, but not as impressive as the upper delicate arch hike. We ran out of time I would return and do more hikes. You could easily spend 2-3 days here if hiking.

Unusual and Stunning Views. Get the guided tour!

By 246jlm |

What a fabulous place! I didn't really think I would like it but it is a sight to see and so glad I went. The best tip I can give is that we stopped in the park office and they "rented" us a USB with a wonderful audio guided tour. I think is was $5 with a $20 deposit that you get back when you return it. We were able to tour the park in one full day plus 1/2 day. We didn't make all the stops but most of them. Hiked the delicate arch (Stunning) and a few others. I think with the tour you could get most of it in with a few hikes in 2 days. We went early so we'd miss the heat and it was less crowded. Make sure to get your tickets ahead of time online if they are still doing timed entry. (way ahead if you want your choice of entry time as the earlier times are more popular) Also there was an issue when we checked in. The person who's name was used to buy the tickets needed a valid driver's license if I remember correctly.

Great park for hiking and exploring

By Martina B |

The park offers a lot to see for all. You rock arches and formations are sometimes incredible. You can walk around for hours and see something new again and again.

My favorite national park!

By Mary L |

Arches is by far my favorite national park that I have been to. The size of the arches is awesome and the formations are amazing. Even though the temperature was over 100 degrees, I hiked around the arches for great views and pictures. Absolutely a must see if you are in Southern Utah!

Great place not to miss!

By Patprevost11 |

Great place not to miss!
The Arches are beautiful and the landscapes exceptional
Small hikes are possible to see a maximum

Amazing views

By Steph R |

Arches National Park was a great place to visit. It has hikes for all effort levels - just be sure to read the descriptions first. The map was easy to follow and I’m a person who typically struggles with following a map. The views are amazing up close and on the scenic drive. The restrooms were clean. It wasn’t crowded at the Park. Be sure to pack a lunch and plenty of water.

Wonderful

By tleeEvans |

Great NP. Good hiking areas and lots to see. Get in line at least an hour from your reservation time, as the lines get long, especially on weekends. We went over Memorial day and they were long. Parking lots fill up, but usually can find a spot in a reasonable amount of time. No flush toilets in the park, come prepared for outhouse time bathrooms. Lines can form for those as well. The film at the visitor center is very good and recommend you to take time to watch it. Bring your own food in, as there are no restaurants or food services anywhere in the park. Moab is close, but you would to want to leave the park to get food and then have to get back in line to enter. Bring your own water or other beverage was well. They do have water filling stations at some of the areas.

Great with small kids

By Chasity S |

Beautiful park. Lots of short hikes, which was great for us to hop in and out between nap time with our one year old. We went after 4pm and were able to do all the short hikes we wanted to do. I’ve done longer hikes in the park before & would recommend going in the morning for the weather, but mid-day for less crowds if you can handle the heat. Lots of sand for our kid to play in. Saw a baby rattlesnake cooling on the rocks though so be mindful. Great park.

Wonderland of sandstone and sky

By phvi2617 |

With its stunning sandstone formations, Arches is truly a one-of-a-kind national park. I visited in late March, right before the spring reservation period. The weather was perfect, and it wasn't overly crowded.

After finding the Delicate Arch parking lot full, I went to the Devil's Garden Trailhead and hiked to Dark Angel, stopping at Landscape, Double O, and several other arches. While fun, this is a challenging hike, with slick rock and some scrambling.

On the way back to town for lunch, I stopped at the spacious visitor center, which has excellent displays about the geology of the area. I returned in the afternoon to hike to Delicate Arch, a moderate 3-mile hike to the iconic formation.

Before leaving, I stopped at Balanced Rock and Double Arch, both a short walk from the road. Double Arch was particularly stunning right before sunset, with its towering walls set against the deepening blue sky.

While you could certainly spend several days here, the park is small enough where you can see the highlights in a single day if it's not too crowded. There aren't many amenities, but it is right outside the lovely city of Moab.

One of Gods greatest creations

By Funlife4ever |

I love this park!! We go twice a year. It’s worth the 17 hour drive.

So many hikes and bridges to find. Nature at its finest for sure. Very busy in the summer months.

Breathtaking

By Suzanne C |

The views are gifts from God and I pray we have the opportunity to visit again. Our timing was off so we only were able to see a small portion before nightfall, but what we saw we loved! A must see!

Beautiful scenery

By Hans |

We booked our ticket on-line in advance and also had a time slot for 8 a.m. on a Thursday. The park was not to crowded and we could park our car on any parking. The walk to Broken Arch was for us the best of the day, nice walk, not crowded with people, took us about an hour towards and back.

Beautiful

By njoireading247 |

This was an amazing day! We had reservations for 8:00 am entry and glad we did as we were there for over six hours. There are small walks, medium walk/hikes and longer, more strenuous hikes throughout the park. Come with the intent to do at least one or two of the medium walk/hikes, especially to see the Delicate Arch across the canyon (if you can't do the longer, tougher hike). Bring your lunch as there is a picnic area. You need plenty of water. We were there during the week in the fall, so the traffic, lines etc were not a problem. There are not a lot of parking spaces at the scenic areas so plan accordingly.

Amazing Arches

By Lovtorun |

We had a very good experience in early October. We had 7am passes but arrived on a weekday morning before 7. Steady line of vehicles entering. We got to the Delicate Arch trailhead before 7:30 and quite busy. Fun hike up and back and great photo ops that early. Long line for bathrooms.
We also hiked Devils Garden and enjoyed very much.
We returned on a Saturday morning at 6:45 am. Two steady lines of vehicles. We visited the Windows area and walked the Park Avenue trail before our road trip home. Saw multiple tour busses by 8am.
Get a timed pass if needed but recommend entering before 7am. You still need pass or fee but beautiful and less crowded.

Beautiful park

By ES1 |

Amazing! Could spend days exploring. Go in the evening to avoid the heat. Only disappoint was trying to see stars - recommend walking far back on a trail or the car headlights will ruin your view.

Wonderful place to explore

By Matthew S |

The highlight was climbing up and into Double Arches, but we had a wonderful time exploring Delicate as well as some of the other arches. Even though it was busy, the park is big enough for you to find your space and to enjoy. Plan your visit accordingly to weather. A must visit when in/around Moab!

One Park and Four ways to See It

By Tony T |

We toured the Arches National Park in several different ways (which I strongly recommend). We did the 1/2 backcountry Jeep tour, 1/2 day jet boat tour down the Colorado River, drove down the State Hwy 128 (it follows the river), and a late night excursion to Panorama Point for star watching. Each method was filled with memorable moments very different from the other excursion. The jeep tour teaches geology. The river trip teaches history. The road trip allowed us to examine the formations in detail and watch rock climbers. The night trip was amazing to see with a wide-open clear night sky.

Delicates arch and the landscape arch all in 1 day

By Carli M |

The delicate arch trail was difficult for small children but doable we had back packs. Be sure to make a reserved entry online or feet there before sunrise! It’s worth it!

Another great park!

By GoPlaces665188 |

Yet another example of why the National Parks system is one of the best ideas in the history of this nation.

Arches National Park

By Marylee4159 |

Arches National Park is like no other. There are so many beautiful sights and hikes to enjoy. We could have spent more time there, if we’d had it! But the time we spent was worth it! Be sure to get a timed entry unless you are going in before 6:30 a.m. or after 4:00 p.m. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Wow

By JEBtravel2018 |

We did not have this time entry ticket. But, we had no problem getting the ticket right at 6pm the night before. It’s April and there are a lot of spring break families but we didn’t have a problem. If you go before 7 am or after 4 pm you don’t need this ticket. We were very leery about this entry ticket but……..we loved it. Less crowds, easy parking, no stress. Not sure how the ticket works at peak season June,July. Park is fabulous you can read everyone’s remarks.

A beautiful park that should be visited at sunrise!

By Timo L |

It's worth getting here very early to avoid the heat and the many visitors.
The park is beautiful and definitely worth a visit. With a ticket or an America the Beautiful Pass you can enter the park before the official opening time. This is also recommended!
After the official opening time you need a special ticket in addition to the ticket or pass to enter the park at a certain time. This ticket can only be obtained online in advance.

Magical

By Brandie H |

This was one of the most unique experiences. We had a 6:00 am reservation and were able to see the beautiful sunrise in the park. The hikes were mostly moderate with a couple trickier spots to climb. We had so much fun and were able to hike to the double o arch and the devils tower. Pack plenty of water and snacks so you can make a whole day out of it. Would need a few days to see all the arches.

Beautiful

By Stella M |

Arches is a beautiful park. Was not too crowded in late November and easy to drive and park there. The trails are good and maintained. You could see much of the park from the car without a lot of hiking. Everything was well marked with great explanations of the formations and how the were formed. Visitor's center was very nice.

Beautiful! must see it!

By MikeJennyQ |

Everyone should see this if you love the outdoors. The landscapes are amazing and many of the places to walk put you in great photo vistas. Bring you long lens.

Delicate Arch itself is worth the trip!

By Sam |

My mom and I visited Arches National Park during a 10 day trip from Washington to Florida and are so glad that we did!

We started our day driving nearly 6 hours in the dark from Idaho Falls into Arches, in order to be at the entry station between 7 - 8 AM for our timed entry, but are so glad we did because it was so worth it.

We had one goal in mind for the park, since we only had half a day to spend before driving to Bryce later in the day, so we headed straight for the Delicate Arch trailhead.

To my surprise, after living in Washington for 3 months and being in multiple national parks until this visit to Arches, the timed entry was actually really nice. The park was NOT overcrowded whatsoever, parking was extremely easy to find at the trailhead, and the pull offs were easy to get to for amazing pictures without a lot of cars in the view!

The Delicate Arch trail was not the hardest I've ever done, but not the easiest either. It starts off gravel and flat, giving you a small glimmer of false hope, and then you see the rock face you have to walk up to reach the top. I felt okay doing this trail, thanks to spending 3 months hiking in WA prior to our trip, but my mom needed several breaks, along with the vast majority of other people, hiking upwards.

Despite the struggle, the top is 100000% worth it. The arch, first thing in the morning, was not overcrowded, maybe 80 max people were at the top, pictures were easy to get without anyone in them, and there was an amazing breeze.

The hike down was easy, but could be stressful on you if you have bad knees. Takeaways from our morning hike: have plenty of water, hiking/trekking poles may be helpful going up AND down if you are not a strong hiker or have bad knees/hips, and make sure to take your camera!

We did not do any other hikes in Arches and only stopped at the scenic pull offs, but Delicate Arch was well worth the out of the way drive and early morning hike!

If you only see one thing in Moab...

By NK Raven Bruce |

Arches along is enough reason to protect our national parks. Mind blowing beauty. A week later and I'm still digesting it. As the guide said: geological time is now. Run to be part of it :)

Great family adventure

By Ryan |

This place is amazing. Lots of amazing natural wonders. You could spend a couple of days in here or a quick drive through the park to see some of the monuments from the road.

Super challenge & worthwhile

By Debra J |

Start your day hiking hard—counting—climbing to absolutely beautiful arches! Be prepared for angled flat rock—hiking poles used properly a must do!

Accessible arches to all

By Suzanne |

Breathtakingly unique park. We planned to arrive before 7:00 a.m. to avoid any potential lines to get in or waits for parking and that was a good call. Went to the “hot spots “ first and then drove the remaining scenic drive. Seemed to avoid huge crowds but increasingly busy late morning. Enjoyed Arches overall due to the close proximity to many of the arches/overlooks from the parking area. Recommend visiting- nothing else quite like it.

Arches!

By Gwendolyn M |

Do the hike to delicate arch! It's amazing and it's a very do-able hike! My boys and I loved it! The views are incredible!

Beautiful National Park

By Felix Zhang |

Such a beautiful park to visit! It was really cold when we went, but a great spot. Loved seeing the delicate arch and the windows arch and a few of the other cool sites like balancing rock

Totally amazing in every way

By Laura S |

This is a must do for your family!! There was not a bad view from anywhere we saw the entire half day their! When we got to the park around lunch time, we were admitted but soon found out off 4/1-10/31 you would have to make a reservation on line and would be given a time limit in the park. Thankfully we arrived 3 days before that started. We made the hike up and around to Delicate Arch which was magnificent in its own way! Worth it all right their! You can see soooo much from the road or just stopping at the turn offs and stretching your legs. Totally love this place and so glad we made the hike. Hope to return again someday

Great self guided tour after hours

By Cgeck |

We went to the Arches Visitor Center after 4 pm and we didn’t have to pay an entrance fee. We got the map and did a self guided tour, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The sights are amazing.

Arches now has timed entry, plan ahead!

By kht53 |

Arches has to have the most beautiful entry of any national park, with huge red rock walls you drive along as you enter. Arches can be explored as a drive- through with short hikes to particularly scenic areas, in about 4 hours. Right now (April 2023) they have a timed entry, to help keep crowds down. We went at 3:00 after main crowds and as heat was subsiding, which was nice. The Visitor Center has a nice film of the area... and bathrooms with running water! There are some very large parking areas here and there (unlike in Canyonlands). Know that you can hike to the Delicate Arch, which is huge, or drive to a different area to hike to a viewpoint from which you see Delicate Arch on a ridgeline with sphinx- shaped formations. Be sure to bring everything you might want during your time in the park... food, water, etc... because there's nothing to buy in the park, beyond the Visitor Center. Beautiful area!

Beautiful natural monuments and scenery sans canyons.

By toohip |

This was the first of the 5-National Park tour, and it was AMAZING. We've seen Canyonlands and Capital Reef, and Arches is the best so far. They are the only Utah NP with a reservation system requested by patrons to reduce heavy loads. The entry area to the park was the best and most amazing. "Park Avenue" is awesome. This is one of the few Utah NPs that is more about towering natural sculptures more than canyons like Canyonlands. The famous "Delicate Arch" can not be seen from car. My wife had foot surgery and could walk far, and I guess you have to walk about 100 yds just to view from the parking area; othersise it's a long hike to reach it in person. The road and turnouts were amazingly well built. The limited clouds provided great viewing and great backgrounds. This is a park you drive in and then have to drive out, no "thru" roads. The visitor center was amazing and the movie very well done. Lots of staff, good bathrooms. Many of the viewing spots at pit toilets for either sex, making it convenient. While they claim there are "over 2,000 arches" some are like a feet wide. Amazing natural structures. A must see. Moab is just a 5 miles south, and a very upscale hip community with lots of restaurants and grocery stores (City Market), but it's a bit upscale and because it's close to Arches and Canyonlands, thus lodging is very pricey. Why we and many other drove the ~60 miles to Green River off I-70. Lots of newer hotels there around $100+ with breakfast. If you take your kids, sign them up as a junitor ranger, get them a Nat. Park "passport" to stamp at each park or national place. The NPs do a fantastic job entertaining kids.

Don't rush it. Relax and enjoy!

By ThomUSA |

Great park. Lots to see. It is possible to take in all the arches in one day if you're up for it. Most holes are easy/moderate. I am a disabled veteran so I cannot walk at a normal pace anymore, so we broke it up to 2 days and took it all in comfortably. My service dog, Scout, kept m going, especially uphill. No need to rush. Weather in October was awesome...50+/- degrees in the morning, 70's for the high. Gift shop is great too.

Best park in Utah

By Running Man |

Best park in Utah. The arches are some of the coolest natural features on the planet. The Delicate Arch is worth the long uphill hike.

It’s Arches…of course it’s amazing!!!

By Mindy |

Pictures just don’t do it justice! This is such a beautiful and interesting place. The hiking was great and views spectacular. My favorite arch was Sand Dune Arch and favorite hike was Broken Arch because I didn’t encounter a single person. Everyone should visit Arches at least once!!!

Beautiful

By pccokeinabottle |

Was beautiful. Could get off the road to take pictures. And you could hike around an area and stay as long as you liked.

Stunning

By Sophia B |

The scenic loop was wonderful. Unfortunately, we couldn't go on the hikes because we had our dog with us. Instead, we explored the Dry Mesa OHV trail within the park, which made for a fantastic day. There were many opportunities to pause and appreciate the stunning surroundings.

A park sculpted by imagination; A park sculpted by imagination

By Michela a |

Each arch looks like a work of art created by nature. Some are gigantic, others hidden among the rocks... but all leave you speechless. The walk to the Delicate Arch at sunset is something I will never forget. A surreal, almost alien park.

Every arch looks like a natural work of art. Some are towering giants, others are tucked away among the rocks... but all of them are jaw-dropping. The hike to Delicate Arch at sunset is something I’ll never forget. The whole park feels surreal — almost otherworldly.

Worth the time

By Skidadoftwo |

Plan on lots of walking. Most of the trails are easy walks, some are moderate (delicate arch). Plenty to see and admire, lots of pull in observing spots. Parking lots fill up fast, we came in December, can’t imagine high tourist time. Most every spot had two sets of vault toilets but only one set was open. Lack of benches around park was noticeable as compared to other national parks. Although I’m sure a thankless job, the gate person was the same on both days and was very abrupt and just not the customer service oriented person I’ve seen at other parks, when I had a question. Gift shop well stocked and information center had multiple exhibits to look at

Visit the park if you can

By HeleneA636 |

We had missed that we had to reserve tickets to visit the park. But it was fine to go in after 4pm, luckily. We went around the park and experienced a fantastic landscape with incredible rock formations.

🛻 Stunning views, take a lunch and plenty of water!

By USN_Seabee_Wife |

Go in the off season to avoid the extremely large crowds!

1st stop: Visitor's Center for brochures, information, and video about park.

Take lunch, snacks, sunscreen, and plenty of water! There are no restaurants or stores inside the park.

Stop as often as you would like to enjoy the views. Don't forget your camera and make it a habit to look behind you since that is where some of the best views can be. 🙂

Last tip: Go in the off-season to reduce the chance of large crowds on the trails.

Breath taking

This place is breathtaking! The majestic rocks and landscape is beyond words. Amazing day with my guy

Such beauty

Spent a couple of hours here while on a bus trip. We drove as far as Panoramic Point. Such a vast range of beauty and scenery. Definitely worth seeing!

MUST DO!

BEST PART IF MY TRIP! We went to Canyonlands which was as neat and had some great hikes, but the Arches were on a whole new level. You had some super easy hikes, medium and harder. There are TOMS of places to hike! There is a hike for everyone! I HIGHLY recommend you go to the Delicate Arch or the Devils Garden early in the morning. Delicate Arch is 3 miles in all and is straight uphill going to it and there is very little shade. Plus, there is a line to take your picture with the Arch so the walker the better. The Devils Garden is about 8 miles of hiking. It’s moderate to harder hiking. SO WORTH IT! Kids can handle the Delicate Arch.

Arches National Park

By Demon Mike |

We visited Arches in June. You will need not only a Park Pass but also to book atime to drive into the parl. without areservation you cannot drive in. The reservaton can be made on line and cost us $2.00. The Park is very large and you drive from place too place. You can simply drive to outlooks or preferably do a few hikes. There are a multitude of arches. We saw Delicate Arch and double Arch to name 2. You can stay a few hours ore a whole day. it depenfs on what you wish to do. There is no foof in the park so bring what you need and do not forget water and ion summer, sunscreen

Very Popular National Park

By santhony |

Very popular National Park, just on the outskirts of Moab, UT. Requires "timed entry", so must be booked several weeks in advance. Even then, you could face lengthy lines to enter the park. We went in April, when the weather was ideal. Peak summer could be a hot, crowded nightmare.

There is a broad range of hikes available, from the very easy Balanced Rock Trail to Devil's Garden which allows you to go as far as you wish. Delicate Arch is a must. We spent half of two days here and saw pretty much all we wanted.

In nearby (5 minutes) Moab, I highly recommend Hoodoo Moab, a Hilton property.

Arches were amazing

By micheledl2016 |

Bucket list item to see the Mighty 5 in Utah. We began with Arches and it did not disappoint! We did easy to moderate trails and saw Pine tree arch, tunnel arch, skyline arch, windows arches, double arch, broken arch and Delicate arch. We intended to do Delicate arch lower viewpoinr but made a mistake and pulled into the trailhead. This was a moderate to difficult trail especially near the end where you walked a narrow trail along a drop off. Not good if you don't like heights but I hugged the inside wall going up and made it

Definitely need to visit

By Weazy123 |

The views were spectacular!! We thought we were going to what turned out to be Zion National Park, but were not disappointed we got the name wrong. We were able to do several tails even though we ate older & have back issues.

Incredible 4-day Visit

By Cindy P |

We watched the sunrise at the La Sal mountains viewpoint, we hiked to Delicate Arch for sunset, we drove and hiked all the major sights. Recommend early morning, then a late lunch in Moab, swimming at your hotel pool, and then going back to the park early evening.

Arches

By RoadWarrior766 |

Incredible! Fantastic! The timed entry makes the whole experience a once in a lifetime thing. Do not be put off by the timed entry. My time was 1-2 pm. It was perfect for mid- Apr. Parking available at all points. No stress. No crowds. I did all the view hikes. Nothing major hiking wise. I spent four hours and feel like I saw the highlights.

Incredible Beauty

By Paddy V |

Outstanding natural beauty surrounds you at every turn. We got there at 6am to watch the sunrise and it was spectacular. Take water and good hiking shoes.
Some of the features required a short walk and some offer a bit of a climb- which I conquered!
Get there and just sit and stare.

America the Beautiful!

By PatW217 |

You can see all the wonders without hours of hikes. The Park has paved walks to most of the best sights. Our sunset tour with Moab Adventures was the best. If you do the park on your own, you must have a timed entry. Many get turned away. Do your research before you come to Arches. The geology is fascinating!

Awesome but

By Karen C |

The park itself is fabulous; however, be forewarned that the ticket process is cumbersome. For those of us not raised in the digital age It’s even more challenging. The site is confusing and overly complicated to get a ticket online. I do appreciate that there is an easy paved path to the double arches so those of us with mobility issues are able to get up close to it.

Toilets were awful, parking is awful.

By James M |

The rest room at the trail head were awful, I understand they are toilets but they need cleaned a couple times a day at least when you have crowds like Memorial Day. Second complaint, why do they sell more passes than they have parking spaces? The parks are beautiful but they are dropping the ball on as it pertains running the parks.

Magical Place

By Coasttocoast1234 |

I had an amazing time with my son on this trip. The hike down Park Avenue is easy and doesn't lead to much but it is magical at dusk. No crowds at that time and the weather is cooler. Make a right at Balance Rock and you are at the Double Arch, which is also a short hike. This is one great National Park and not to be missed.

Beautiful 😍

By Candy Kim |

Amazing views of the Natural History Arches in the park.
Some great view takes about 30mins to 3.5 Hours to get there.
Convenient parking lot as well 🏔️

Breathtaking experience

By Barbara F |

The canyon is very impressive and everything is well documented. The information for the hikes is very well explained and the distances in miles and kilometers are given with difficulty. Even for shorter hikes you absolutely must have enough water with you. It was a spectacular experience.
Be sure to book the time slot and admission in advance (on different platforms). We then had to stand in line for another hour to get to the park. That has to be taken into account in time. In the park, however, the cars were well distributed.

neat

By gwviper |

The arches are really cool. Most can be seen from the road but it is worth it to get out of the car. Delicate Arch is quite the hike but worth it. Went at sunset and hiked out in the dark. Have a head lamp if doing sunset or sunrise. Go to arches in the morning or early evening as it gets hot. Would not do in the summer.

Arches and Delicate Arch--don't miss

By moviemom88 |

Arches is a stunning experience and may be the only national park within 15 minutes of a lively community (Moab). You have to make online reservations to enter the park. The most popular hike is Delicate Arch which is a "difficult" hike that will take 2-3 hours. These are specific suggestions about that hike. Follow NPS guidelines. Bring water. A Camelbak is a good idea. Trekking poles are good. Wear hiking boots. Don't hike in the rain! Don't carry an infant on your back or bring toddlers. It is steep and windy at the top. Have a strap to hold your hat on ( I lost mine). Be able to scramble over a 3 foot high boulder at the top.
There are easier, shorter hikes to the viewing points and the many other arches in the park. You will enjoy this trip! You can also drive another 30 minutes and get to Canyonlands.

Superb

By Pascool |

A must in the Moab region. To do absolutely even if you are not a great walker you can discover geological wonders. The two most beautiful requires 2 to 3 hours walk back and forth. Otherwise for a non walker the most beautiful are those of Windows made well walk easy complete to see the one of the South also. On the other side of the parking you also have the double arch to see also. It was just an example you will feast in se Park. Be careful to make your Reservation on the Recreation website.

Incredible park

By aspoe093 |

Went to Arches with my family. We spent two different days there and hit up many of the best hikes. I would recommend the Devil's Garden and Delicate Arch. It is a must visit and come early because parking is limited

If you have any mobility issues, don't waste your time here.

By Johnny B!!! |

What we COULD see, was beautiful. What the National Park Service DOESN'T tell you, this park is NOT for the disabled. It seems they are geared toward the young hikers, not the senior citizens who paid all their lives, for some of the funds that support their system. Again, what we were able to see, was beautiful. But sure would have liked to have seen "The Hidden Arches" which young people ONLY, have the privilege to see. On Route 191, about 35-45 south of the City of Moab, is a BEAUTIFUL arch named Wilson Arch and it's RIGHT ALONG THE HIGHWAY, with plenty of space to pull over and enjoy. Perhaps in the future, Arches National Park might put in asphalt ways for those in wheel chairs to enjoy. But, being a government entity, that will most likely not happen. I guess the National Parks that are open to EVERYBODY, is actually open only for those with their legs. Did they ever hear of the Americans with Disabilities Act, or are they exempt?

So many arches in one place

By Jerri L |

Spent two days exploring Arches and loved the experience. We visited only days before what is considered high season and needed timed entry reservations for the main portion of the day. We had a 7AM July 1 and 8AM July 2. If entering before 7AM no reservation was needed and after July 7 timed entry was not needed. We went straight to Delicate Arch to hike early (temps were in the 100’s both days) and accomplished the 3.4 mile roundtrip hike in under 2 hours with 30 minutes at the arch waiting for pictures… people stand in line to get pictures taken. We also hiked Sand Dune Arch - easy hike for anyone through soft sand, and Broken Arch, a slightly longer hike across an open field area with no sun protection. But the arch is beautiful. Double arch is another easy hike with amazing views and we stopped for a peek at Park Avenue Viewpoint. Parking lots were full and we passed by a few overlooks or short hikes because of that. There are lots of great views and spots to see along the drive alone.

Awesome Arches

By caml77 |

Although each arch was spectacular in its own way, we had the most awesome time in the Fiery Furnace. You need a permit and watch a video followed by a cautionary talk to get in.

Wonderful

By Diane D |

Because Moab reaches 100 degrees most afternoons in August, there was no timed entry. We arrived early, 7am, it was 70 degrees and quite pleasant. We are in our 70s, fit but not interested in long hikes in the heat. The highlight of our visit was Sand Dune Arch. A short walk from the parking lot into a shaded, sandy area revealed the beautiful arch up close & personal. We also walked up the hill to North Window. Lots of opportunities to see so much without hiking. Lots of pull-offs for photo opportunities. We were very surprised & pleased. When we left the park at 10:30am, the temp was already 90 degrees & climbing, yikes! Memorable visit for sure!!

Arches

By AmeliavdBerg |

Wow , just spectacular , the scenery is amazing , we pre booked an entry time online and opted to buy the yearly park pass as we’re visiting a few on our trip . Roads are excellent , heaps of stopping areas , very clean and well maintained
Have to see once in your lifetime

Absolutely worth visiting

By Previa1994 |

I visited Arches National Park in the Fall, and the weather was great for cool hikes throughout the three days I was there. Arches is one of the most enjoyable National Parks. The park offers several hiking trails ranging from easy to challenging. Be well prepared and planned to take on the challenging ones such as Fiery Furnace and Devils Garden trails. If not into much hiking, the park has several look out spots on the scenic drive from which several arches and rock features can be enjoyed with short walks. The geologic features in the park are absolutely stunning. During the peak season in the summer, Arches has timed entry requirements. Check out the park website for details.

Arches National Park is absolutely worth visiting. The nearby Moab is a wonderful gateway town.

What an amazing park !

By monette g |

We visited this park twice, but could enter only after 16:00 , because we were not aware that visits between 07:00 - 16:00 must be booked in advance. During our second visit we came at 17:30, brought a picnic basket, watched the sun set, then had our picnic and waited till it was dark enough to do some star gazing. Although there were some clouds in the sky, it was still an amazing experience.

Stunning national park

By Dave C |

This is an amazing park to visit any time of the year. The scope of the structures and the time it took for nature to carve them in mind-blowing. Once I was inside the park I really didn't notice any crowds, but I think the timed entry system needs some tweeks. We arrived at our appointed time of 1:00 and waited about 3-40 minutes to get to the entrance gate. And when we left the entrance line was twice as long. Get here early.

Views, stories, and memories made

Booked a sunset tour with Moab Adventure center. Chris was our tour guide and was fantastic! So knowledgeable! Beautiful memories and pictures captured on this trip!

Awesome time at Arches!

By Mark |

Beautiful views. Nature at its finest! Great drive through the park. Short easy hikes to Landscape Arch. Not so easy or short to Delicate Arch.

Beautiful Vistas, Plenty of Hiking, Interesting Rock Formations

By sgtgbacon |

We were in a 26’ class C motor home and it took us about 2-1/2 hours to go through the entire park. There were some really beautiful sights of various rock formations by and a few arches. There were Most areas had well marked trails and the longest was about 2 miles (round trip) with moderate grades to get up close to the arches or other formations. Our favorite was the “Courthouse” and Devils Garden (at the end). Roads were paved and winding but in some locations narrow with speed limits 30 - 45 mph. There were turnouts as well as destination parking that included parking for longer vehicles at the special venues. Note however that a reservation is required until 4:00 pm. You can go on line and make a reservation but during peak seasons (Spring - Fall) you may not be able to get a same day reservation so book in advance. Because of that system of crowd and vehicle control, the drive feels more relaxed as does all the venues. There is an information center once you enter the park that is open until 6:00 pm. There were also plenty of pit toilets throughout the park and at all the parking areas.

Amazing views and nice hikes

By dvjks |

We enjoyed the drive through the park and was able to a bit of hiking to some amazing views and wonderful scenery.

Arches National Park

By sunrise99 |

I had an amazing time here with stunning scenery. What a beautiful park. My husband wanted to climb into and up some of the arches. I strongly advise you to take a trip here.

See Bryce, then don’t miss Arches

By Joe C |

Of the five major national parks in Utah, I’d place Arches second, behind only Bryce Canyon. The views and features here are outstanding. Every turn shows a different and dramatic prehistoric formation.

Arches National Park

By Kathy S |

Absolutely loved our visit it. Stunningly beautiful! I couldnt take it all in it was just so majestic. Highly recommend a stop here if you can.

Very interesting and scenic

By Kevin S |

Very busy on a national holiday weekend, 40 minutes queue to enter, and that was with the timed ticket on top of the entry fee to this national park. No notice at the start saying pre booked timed entry was in opera-tion so 1 in every 5 cars was being turned around after they'd waited 40 minutes.
The park though was a very interesting succession of weather carved arches. The road is basically entry and end point, turn around and leave. Which arches you visited was up to you. Some visible from the road, oth-ers 200 metres, some 400 metres or more over gravel paths. Longer routes of a couple of miles hike were available which is why it is difficult to determine the best. There are many, and some involve a quitre long walk.
Our favourite was the Windows section. Double Arch 600 metres off one side. 600 metres in the opposite direction were North, South and Turret window. Head right to Turret window first and if you are lazy at one point you can take photos of all three from one location. Sand Dune Arch is not great but a fun walk on sand through a slot canyon.

Must See Bucket List Place

By DanaHJ |

If you are a climber or hiker, this place rocks. Expensive unless your camping or RVing. I spent double hotel costs for Moab. However, just coming from Bryce National Park I have to say I prefer Bryce due to the views and less folks.

10 STARS - No Hiking Needed to View these amazing formations

By PlusSizeAdventurer |

There are NO WORDS for this National Park, like Bryce Canyon, breathtaking!! Again, NO HIKING if you can't or don't feel up to it!! Can see these amazing from Viewpoints or even your car. Plenty of bathrooms here, NO FOOD, so pack your lunches cause you can be here for a while. Balance rock, very flat and easy hike. Sand Dune Arch, so worth the effort - See my review on SAND DUNES ARCH. You can sit and look at these formations forever and use your imagination to see formation. ARCHES A MUST DO!!!

A top-tier national park

By Brendan S |

Arches is wildly - and deservedly - popular for its soaring stone arches, over 2,000 of them (though only a few dozen notable ones on the main park trails). It’s a very easy park to visit, just 4 miles outside of Moab. The park is relatively compact and the entire park road can be driven in an hour. Most of the well-known arches can be viewed on short hikes from trailheads. I was able to see all the arches accessible from park road trailheads in one day. Arches does unfortunately get very crowded and very hot in the high season. I visited in November and crowds were low and the weather was perfect.

Sunrise

By Heather P |

We drove to Arches to watch the sunrise. Since we didn’t have a timed reservation we arrived at 5 am. We settled into watch the sunrise at broken rock. After the sunrise we drive to the delicate arch . There were saw many people at the arch watching the sunrise . I’d recommend that location if you are up for the moderate climb.

Breathtaking Views and Stunning Scenery

By Velvet K |

Arches National Park, one of the big five in Utah, has many different hikes for a variety of ages. The most famous hike, Delicate Arch, is roughly 3 miles round trip. Most of the trail is either marked or easy to follow; however, there are a couple of spots where you need to pay attention or you will end up off the path. It is a stunning view when you reach the summit and look out.

If you are headed out for a sunrise viewing, which is what we did and I would highly recommend, you will most likely start out in darkness. We used our phones and it was sufficient.

As for other hikes, you have several that are family friendly. There is Balanced Rock hike .3 round trip, Sand Dune Arch hike .3 round trip, or Skyline Arch hike .4 round trip. Of course for those that are not up to extended walking there is the scenic drive totaling 22 miles one way. It took us about 5-6 hours to drive it and make several short stops.

One final recommendation is to buy a National Park pass if you plan on visiting multiple parks while touring Utah. The cost is roughly $80 USD and there are multiple venues to purchase a pass.

Overrated and way, way too crowded

By 80237travel |

Arches National Park is, if I am being generous, average. Sure, it is scenic. Sure, it is beautiful. But anyone who lives or frequently visits the Southwest, Rocky Mountains and high desert will be familiar with red rocks, cliffs, mesas, giant boulders, and assorted rock formations.

Sure, Arches is home to a significant number of arches. But most of the arches are not visible from the road. You have to hike at times a considerable distance. And for most people, the weather is too hot for hiking after 9 or 10 am. So, the vast majority of people who visit do nothing but drive around the park and look at rocks from their car. A smaller number stop at some of the trailheads and hike. But even then none of the parking lots are big enough for the shear number of cars. Even with the stupid reservation system, the park is overrun. I visited three times in three days. Saturday, Sunday and Monday. In late September, weeks after Labor Day. It was impossible to have any noteworthy rock or arch to yourself, let alone get a photo without other people in it. Worse yet, there are so many idiots who visit and just stop their car in the middle of the two-lane road to take photos from their camera phone (as if they can even get a good photo). Then there are the people who pass out on the trails because they decided to hike at 2 pm when it's 97 degrees and they're wearing jeans and carrying no water. I saw at least 2 ambulances every day responding to trail emergencies.

Unless you enjoy wasting your time by waiting up to 1 hour at the entrance because of traffic, skip Arches. Just find a nice national monument, national forest, national recreation area or state park somewhere in Colorado, Utah, Arizona, etc. You'll find similar natural beauty with a fraction of the crowd.

All things considered, I wouldn't recommend Arches to anyone who isn't an actual hiker.

Daytime admission requires a reservation, so early morning admission is recommended.

By knishika |

As of August 2023, online reservations (USD 2/vehicle) are required in advance to enter between 7AM and 4PM. Reservations can be made relatively quickly, but it is recommended to enter before then if possible.
You can see the sunrise, and the area, including the parking lot, is generally empty, so you can explore at your leisure. I entered at 6:30AM just before sunrise, but did not need to purchase a ticket.
The park is quite large, and you can access the trailheads near each arch by car.
The most famous Delicate Arch is near the parking lot at the Low observation point (barrier-free level).
Most of the other arches are about 5 to 10 minutes from the parking lot (family-friendly level).

Must see bucket list item

By Napsterthecat |

We spent a whole day, hiking, taking pictures, standing is awe of the amazing sights. There are so many trails to so many arches or other sites it will take you all day. We went in March prior to the heavy crowds. We had no problems parking at any of the overlooks or parking lots.

Winter Visit

By EnigmaKS |

Arches was absolutely gorgeous covered in a light dusting of snow. It did delay the opening of the park due to icy roads, but the crowd level was low allowing us easy access to all of the trails and sites. Highly recommend a winter trip!

Everyone should try to come here.

By Mark G |

Who knew how amazing this park is? Visitors need to remember it has timed entry and it's HOT in the summer. Wear appropriate clothing and bring lots of water.

Get up and go

By tony s |

Drive in at 5am and get a good hike in to see the wildlife and the scenery with no one around
Great hikes

Unmissable

By JCruz61 |

The park is beautiful. Arrive early and stop at the Visitors Center, you will certainly be well attended to by the park rangers.
If you collect stamps in your passport, the stamp will be there.
You travel around the entire park by car, there are several viewpoints, especially for the most famous arches.
But there are trails too, which take you closer to some of them and through beautiful landscapes.
The park is well structured, signposted, has bathrooms at some stops and places to have a picnic.
But be careful, there is no food/drink sales point. Take everything with you.
For those interested, the park does not close at night and you can walk there to watch the stars.
It is an unmissable visit.

Lots to see at Arches National Park

By jimles7 |

Lots to see at Arches National Park. It's cool driving up the face of the mountain on switchbacks from Moab. It's not cool that you have to have an allotted time to get in. Arches scenic drive is 22 mi and takes about 1 hour. The Park avenue viewpoint is totally incredible. This is a must see park.

Needs easier access to arch’s

By Kenneth K |

Great park, too bad they make you walk great distances to get to some of the arches, especially delicate arch. Needs more roads so all can see the arches. ( This has been edited by trip advisor because I can’t mention the group that refuses to make more roads to make it easier)

Amazing hikes and scenery

By Lisa r |

Was able to do most hikes in two days visiting. All worth checking out, but Devils Garden loop and Delicate Arch were the favorite.

Wonders of the Earth

By pegsaddes |

This Park was so great to visit. They have a movie to watch,if you want, before you go into the park. There is also an info room you should check out. The history about this place is so fascinating.
Unfortunately you see some areas where visitors walk where they shouldn't be which destroys the grounds as well as throwing waste.
If you go,please be respectful of the beauty you will see . Will come back another time later in the day and hope to catch a sunset.
A Must See

So cool!

By Mike F |

This place is amazing! This one makes it up towards the top of my NP list for sure! I loved the trails, I love being right up on/in the arches which are everywhere! Went with kids and grandparents and everyone loved it. Great visitor center also. I only wish we had more time, but we came early to beat the heat, crowds and timed entry so we were ready for lunch! I hope to come back!

Get timed ticket! Stunning views

By Mrs K |

Be sure to get your timed ticket online! This park was A++. Everything was perfect. Bring water and sunscreen. We didn’t hike at all- just drive thru and got out for photos and we caught some sun. It’s so dry you don’t feel the heat so you need water! This is a great park for whatever your activity level. There were camping, hikers, people who needed ADA accommodation- it’s great for all. We drive thru and stayed near car and had great views and photos. It is stunning. If you plan to hike I would start out early.

A must

By DENISE L |

Great place to spend day or half a day I started w a reservation 7-8am arrived at 0650 be aware you need an entrance ticket per vehicle AND a timed reservation for entrance . I had already researched the arche’s I wanted to see so I headed to what I thought would be most popular , delicate arch still a good drive from Entrance but after drive and hike the picture was doable and not a lot of waiting in line to do so ,after that I headed back towards the entrance for the other hikes . There’s parking at each arch with ppl coming and going constantly at most I waited like 45 seconds for a vehicle to leave . Doable for all ages and I would Definitely go early on hot days I was there from 7-12 and hiked 6 arches . I know they offer tours here I would save yourself money and just do it on your own . There are bathrooms at each arch but they are fancy porta potties. I would stop at the visitor office on your way out . Ppl were stopping on the way in for some reason . I have my passport book for national parks so i got my sticker and stamp !

mystical arches...wonderful colors...lotsa hiking/walking trails!

By Joe Alejo |

the rock formations....the different colors....mystical rock arches....and plenty of turnouts/viewpoints to take in the scenery and take a photo or two....visited in the off season so there was very minimal tourists around...lotsa hiking trails that takes one to some spectacular arches....delicate/landscape arches are just two examples...stayed in Moab which is just a few minutes away so one can spend more time inside the Park...highly recommend visiting this place for sure

Stunning

By Treenzs |

We went in the early afternoon and didn’t wait long to get in. It was over 100 and so hot. Loved the visitor center! We went to windows and also to Delicate arch. We did not walk to delicate arch as it was too far and too hot that day. Saw it from a distance. Need a whole day here really as the sections are quite a distance apart.

Nature at its best

By britabroad9 |

We booked our timed entry ticket at 7pm the night before no problem.

Hikes to delicate arch and some of the shorter ones all fine

Just breathtaking some of the scenery would definitely recommend

Absolutely amazing National Park!!!

By Kelly Y |

Incredible park, packed with natural, beautiful, mind-blowing features.

As always, the National Park Service does an outstanding job creating accessible paths and viewpoints to view the features.

Please go see Double Arch. Easy hike and so much prettier than the less accessible, but more famous, Delicate Arch.

Allow at least 6-7 hours to stop at most viewpoints and walk a few easy trails.

Don't forget you need timed entry here most of the year. It's a $2 fee. You reserve online.

We had a wonderful time hiking and sightseeing all around the park. My favorite time to visit is after 4pm.

By Abigail R |

Arches National Park a stop you don’t want to miss. It was incredible seeing the natural arches & other rock formations.

Very cool experience; much enjoyed

By K B |

We very much enjoyed our short visit to Arches NP. We were able to schedule a half day 4x4 drive which added a lot to the experience as much of the park is "back country". On the other hand, there's a lot to be seen from the main road in and short hikes along that road. Park is over a mile high compared to Moab far below.
Stunning red rock formations.
Arches is a relatively small park and they have instituted a 'timed entry' system. It is not really that hard to get a time but we ended up going AFTER the timed entry, ie, after 4pm and we found the park less crowded than a lot of the reviews mention and the light was really great for photography.

Nature creating art

By 54tomas |

We saw the entire park and did a couple easy trails. I did the delicate Arch trail which is moderate. Average temperature during the was 96 degrees. Every sweat drop was worth it. We loved it and brought a picnic with us, just a great time. Met so many people from all over the world and this country sharing nature’s beauty.

Get out and see this National Park

By carlotaTravel4fun |

It turned out we did not need a timed entry as we went into the park around 6:30 so we could hike the Delicate Arch before the heat of the day. I am so glad we did as there is very little shade along the trail. The Delicate Arch was an amazing hike, and has some challenging spots, but nothing too difficult that these two average, senior citizens could not handle. There were all ages and physical abilities on this hike. There is one caution I think I should be mentioned. There are a couple of places where the path is narrow and without handrails. If someone is afraid of heights this could be a problem. If you just take your time, it is well worth the effort to see this arch. The main points of interest are off the main road with pull-outs or parking lots. Most of the trails and/or sites are located on easy, mostly flat walkways. One of our favorite was the Sand Dune Arch Trail. It is a short walk to enter a mini slot canyon and see the arch. Another easy walk was the Windows Arch (North & South) and Turret Arch. In The Devil's Garden Trail is the Landscape Arch, another great site. This is an incredible National Park and worth at the very least a drive through that I'm sure will lure you into investigating the landscape at closer range.

A must-see National Park

By Kelly R |

This is a timed-entry National Park. I booked a 7 AM time slot online as soon as the window opened up in April. The visitor center is right near the entrance, and they don't open until 7:30, so I just sat in the car and enjoyed the breakfast I brought. Visitor Center was nice and had an extensive gift shop. I then headed out on my drive through the park. It was busy at the parking lots, but with the exception of only one stop that was unbelievably packed, I was able to find parking spots. I didn't have a lot of time, so I wasn't able to hike to the Delicate Arch, but was able to see it from a distance. They were unfortunately paving parts of the park road when I was there, so traffic was stopped for quite a long time. I hope to get back here someday and do the hike to the Delicate Arch.

Worth the trip. Stay at Moab.

By Y O |

Beautiful scenery. Time entry works well to avoid over crowded.

The stacked stones trail marks are nice ideas but not frequent enough or people damage them. We got lost at one of the trail.

We were so thrilled with the scenery. It was totally amazing. We took an off-road tour in the morning and our personal vehicle that evening, it was great. I highly recommend

One of the best National Park trips we have made. A light snow fell overnight, adding to the beauty.

Another Beauty

Beautiful park with a lovely scenic drive. A number of hikes for all levels of difficulty. The timed entry from April to October is also wondering as it limits the amount of people in the park. We will definitely be back.

Visiting Arches National Park was truly one of the most awe-inspiring, humbling, amazing experiences of our lives. Arches was one of the focal points of our road trip through Colorado and Utah and it was more amazing than we could have ever imagined. We were ready for incredibly long lines and a crowded park, but there was a mudslide on I-70 and that blocked many people from getting to the park, so it was abnormally quiet. We were able to visit most of the big sites including Balanced Rock and Delicate Arch as well as many, many other small hikes. The Delicate Arch hike was one of the most fun hikes we've ever done and we'd do that again in a heartbeat. Make sure to bring lots of water as it's an exposed hike, sun protection, and make sure you have hiking shoes with good soles and you'll be fine.

Hiking through Arches is otherworldly and it's something we would highly, highly recommend to anyone who enjoys nature. It's just the best!

I love the strangeness of this park.

By Michael S |

I was here with my wife in 2011. She has died since then. A friend and I saw it this time.
First, we went at the end of March because, like most highly visited national parks now, they instituted a timed window entry system. Here, it didn't start until April 1st. What this means, is that you go online, and get a entry time, which is usually a two hour "window." If you arrive during that window, you get in. If you don't, you don't get in. It usually runs from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
As for the park itself, it is a beautiful, strange place. I liked it just as much as the first time. There are options available for all levels of visitors. My wife couldn't hike much in 2011, so we just did a tour via the park road. Still, there were lots of things to see.
My friend and I, hiked a little. Much more to see. This is in my top three favorite national parks, monuments, etc., and I have been to 60 of them.
Fiery Furnace was closed when we were there, but I heard it reopened.
As for the most famous arch there, Delicate Arch, we opted not to do the trail, which is a moderate to demanding two mile trail. We saw it from viewpoints available along a different road.
We took in a lot of other easy hikes though. There is so much to see. I strongly recommend planning ahead, so you know what to expect. If you come in summer, it gets hot, as in 80's-100's. March was just right.

Beautiful red terrain everywhere.

By Johnny-Boricua |

This was a bucket list destination since the Grand Canyon trip. When you enter you drive up this zig zag steep mountain road. It looks like a roller coaster going up for the drop, only you are driving the car to the top. Everywhere you look are these huge amazing red rock formations. There is not a bad view from anywhere. You drive drive one parking area to the next. At each parking area you walk to formations to get closer and take pictures. You cannot take a bad photo.
The star of the park “Delicate Arch” is a LOOOOONG, Long hike along a STEEP mountain. This hike will take everything you got, so you better be full & hydrated. Once you are there, it will be worth it. Delicate Arch is toward the back of the park.

You should be in decent shape to see this park. Some of the walks are long and some of the inclines are steep. There are bathrooms located at some of the bigger parking lots. Bring lots of water or hydration. Food is not allowed. This park is worth every cent you spent and mile you traveled to get there. You will never forget this park.

Moab

By Sophie R |

It is a great place to go with your family and adventure. It is a big place. Very beautiful. I really suggest that you go.

Moab 2

By Jon G |

My tour was by airplane which included Arches & Canyonlands. I was able to enjoy going over Canyonlands but was disappointed with flying over Arches. It was difficult to see the formations.

$$ plus Walking

By Melissa H |

This is not the park to see if you are unable or unwilling to walk. You must walk to see all but a couple of arches.

Also, you have to schedule a time through recreation.gov, which cost $2, in order to gain access. Then there is a $30 per vehicle charge to enter the park.

Arches

By Roger C |

Absolutely beautiful! Amazing what wind and water can do , loved you could drive and see some of the arches or hike to see them up close.

Must visit at least once!

By matt b |

Probably most amazing National Park, I have been to. We only had 1 day. Will be back. Absolutely amazing views and walks.

Amazing!

By TCB |

What an incredible experience! It's breathtaking and the sun rising and setting over the rocks is just incredible! Pictures don't do it justice!

Arrive very early to avoid queues and intensive sun

By Janka K |

One of my favorite national parks at the Southwest. It's small, but you can see multiple interesting places concentrated on this small area.
Since the place is extremely busy, you need to make a reservation for your car for some particular time that you choose in advance. I recommend to arrive early, something about 6 AM or 7 AM. Even with the reservation, there are still long waiting queues at the entrance that you can avoid by arriving early. This way, you can also avoid intensive sun at high noon and do you hike when it's still somehow manageable.
You can refill water at the visitor center, but bring your own food, especially if you plan to spend few hours or literally a whole day in the park.

Lots of great hiking options

By ksufan88 |

We spent parts of 2 days exploring this park, and it definitely has some amazing scenery. A few of the sights such as Balanced Rock and some viewpoint parking areas are only steps from the main road, but the better highlights are only seen up close after hiking to them. Delicate Arch in particular is worth the 3.2 mile hike (steep in places) to be able to walk right underneath it.

My Arches are tired.

By donE9788NN |

They park was beautiful. I liked the evenings the best. We hiked to many of the parts of the park. Planning on returning next year.

Magical

By C K |

This place is magic. We visited once before in March many years ago. It was sweating scorching hot then. This time it was a cool 40 degrees, but absolutely delightful!

Great place to go if you are in Moab or UT

By ATC Buses Orlando |

Amazing display of red tones/colors along the way. It will be hot, but low humidity makes it okay. Hiking a lot, be ready to go up and down the hills, but the view is worth it. We loved it above all, Moab is a nice little city and the Wingate by Wyndham hotels made the rest of the visit worth it.

Probably one of favorite places to visit.

By Glen B |

Always an amazing place to visit. This was our second time visiting this amazing park and pretty much spent the whole day there.

Always wanted to see and now I have.

By Gary F |

Plenty to see. A lot of arches. If you want to see some of the better views be prepared to take hikes. Always wanted to see and now I have.

Great Park

By tbwright |

This was our 3rd favorite park (Bryce and Capitol Reef were 1st and 2nd). The structures are fantastic and only require short hikes to view them. We visited in March so we did not have to do the timed entry. That being said, we entered the park around 8 am on both days and had a minimal wait at the entry gait. By mid-day, the line stretched all the way down the road with the wait being well over an hour to get into the park. As the day progresses, it becomes more and more difficult to find parking to view the features. We had to bypass some on the first day, and then went to the most popular sights first thing in the morning of our second day.

Gorgeous views!

By Godsgirl |

We are so thankful we looked online in regard to the Arches National Park. You must get a timed ticket for entry that is $2. You can't get in without one right now. We were able to do it online & there was no problem getting the ticket for the time we wanted to go. When we got there, we got right through...no wait. We saw others waiting in the timed ticket area & we saw a sign that said there was a wait. That said...the park was absolutely awesome & breathtaking. We'd been here many years ago, when our now grown kids were little. It was beautiful back then. We did all the long hikes back then. This time, we mostly did the short hikes as well as the roadside stops. The views are so incredibly different when you're driving up the hill & when you're driving back down. We went to the visitor center first. We got a map & learned so much about the park & then drove through the park. The views are stunning & this park is a must see! Even though we took some beautiful pictures, one can never imagine how expansive & wonderful this park is, unless they see it themselves.

Yikes & Hikes

By MikeShaler |

What a marvelous National Park to view and to hike! My 2 nd trip here resulted in hiking up to Delicate Arch ( get in shape for this and drink plenty of water). What a sight! We then proceeded to the Windows portion and the pictures tell it all! Biggest disappointment was trying to book the Fiery Furnace , Ranger guided hike ( about 1 1/2 hrs). We were unsuccessful ! It was HOT! So bring water for sure.

The Golden Arches of the National Park World

By Traveling Man |

Great National Park. This was probably one of our favorites. Come prepared in the summer with plenty of water, it gets hot! Don’t forget to get an entry time ticket, or you may wish you had.

Hiking Arches

By K Greve |

Beautiful views, clean park, overall incredible experience. The park rangers go out of their way to keep it safe.

Fabulous

By Donna B |

This place is unlike anywhere else on earth. Fabulous place to visit. Mother Nature has created a masterpiece. Film/exhibits at the Visitor Center are well done.

The hike to Delicate Arch is worth it

By STL63141 |

I don't have a lot to say about the park that hasn't been said by others already. The views are astonishing just about everywhere you go. If you are considering the hike up to Delicate Arch, be advised that it is challenging, but if you are in decent health and can climb a few flights of stairs without being winded, you can probably make it no problem. And the view at the top is so much more satisfying than the ground-level view. Push yourself - you will be glad you did.

Sedona on Steroids

By shari P |

Amazing place that is so expansive it is hard to describe. There are so many different parts to this geological wonder inside and outside the actual park. Defiantly a fun place to hike, though in the less traveled winter we found the snowy trails hard to follow here and there as the markers are few and far between.

Get here early and stay all day!

By Von1287 |

So amazing! You would think you would get tired of arches but you don't! It was super hot but we were able to enjoy each arch sufficiently. We had our timed entry for early morning so we could see things before too many people came in and this was smart of us! We got to see Delicate Arch early and while there were plenty of people we were glad to have done that hike early before the heat really kicked into high gear

A unique National Park

By Louie G |

Rode my vehicle around this place.

A very strange landscape. Very interesting rock formations and scenery.

The delicate arch hike was a lot harder than I thought. Put aside 2 hours to climb the steep hill, pack light, and bring lots of water. At the end, you're rewarded with the beautiful Delicate Arch. Be careful, you could fall and die! Just makes it all the more interesting.

This is a very unique National Park. If you're nearby, check it out.

Don't forget about the gift shop.

Great Experience. Awesome views

By Roman J |

Loved it. Great adventure and awesome hiking. In July, get to the park early (by 6AM) so you don’t overheat. The views are so great. Visit the visitors center afterwards which is open 9am-4pm. Watch the 15 minute theatre movie (at visitor center) about the Arches (free and very interesting).

Outstanding hike

By TravelinArtist |

We started our park experience on the Fiery Furnace Trail lead by Ranger Nate. The hike is rated strenuous, although it is only 2.5 hours long, due to the technical challenges arising from the rocks. You really have to use hands and feet, walk along ledges, and really pay attention. I found it great fun! I would never had tried without a guide to show how to get through some of the obstacles. We also learned about staying safe in the desert and how arches are made (each ranger does their own presentation from what I understand). Please note that you need to signed up for the hike in advance. Allow extra time to get to the visitor center to get your ticket and day pass. We didn’t know how much time to allow so we arrived at 6:30 am for a 9:30 hike. It was a bit too early, but the road does back up with timed entries.

Government Shutdown Experience

By Gwen C |

First of all kudos to Utah for their efforts to keep Arches National Park open during the government shutdown October 2025. The Visitor Center was open as well as all toilets throughout the NP. Not only were the toilets open, they were the cleanest and stocked with toilet paper and hand sanitizer that I’ve experienced at any NP when the Federal employees were working. The State of Utah hired private vendors to maintain and stock the facilities throughout the NP.
No timed entry was needed and parking was not an issue during the morning and early afternoon hours at most trailheads and viewing areas.
Beautiful and well maintained trails for all levels of hiking experience. The payoffs are the incredible arches. Definitely one of my favorite National Parks and the best NP experience ever.

Best park. Nothing like it.

By Ann S |

My favorite park. Beautiful accessible unique land forms. Don't worry if you get a later entry, evenings in the park are lovely.

Spectacular awe inspiring place

By Vicky J |

On arrival we were immediately impressed. It’s necessary to make an entrance reservation before going so that you are timed in but that is helpful as it is such an understandably popular place.
The scenery is majestic, impressive and awe inspiring. Every where you look there is timeless beauty. We would love to visit again someday.

Simply stunning

By FamilyTraveller |

This national park is amazing. Bear in mind that you do need to pre-book timed tickets at certain times of the year, which has the benefit of meaning that it didn’t seem too busy in July. We never had any trouble parking at any of the lots.

We stopped by the main attractions and each was amazing. A real life geography lesson! We did a few of the trails. The most difficult we did was the Delicate Arch trail (see separate review). Sand Dune Arch is one of the shorter routes but definitely worth the walk.

This is a must see.

Pictures can't do it justice

By JoeFRocklin |

Visited on a clear cold blue sky day in late December and enjoyed every minute of it. Crowds were down off-season but it was still pretty busy. (can't imagine what it's like in summer peak season). I took tons of pics and hiked in to some of the arches. Trails were treated with snow melt crystals but were still slippery in spots. Good for families. Winter is a great time to go.

Nature's Magic

By Heather C |

As someone who has lived in the upper Midwest my whole life... Wow. Arches is like a foreign plant
There's beautiful vistas in every direction. Rock, sand, desert crusts... So amazing. Do pack your own food n beverages as there's nothing in the park. Also be prepared for pit toilets as the only facilities so no running water.

Lovely park

By diswix |

Loved Arches but a little spoilt going to Zion first whereby you could hop on a free bus to the trail heads. However drove early arrived just before 0700 and Devils garden first.

Incredible

By sunsandsand0703 |

Don’t miss this amazing park, can’t say enough about how beautiful it is in the entire National park!

Breathtaking

By Hambus |

On our trip we visited Monument Valley and Mesa Verde National Park, among others. Neither of these comes close to Arches National Park!

beautiful

By Paolino!! |

one of the most spectacular parks in utah, to visit especially at sunrise and sunset (the great heat present during the day does not help) because of the colors that assume the various rock formations.

Amazing Views

By MXSCHWARZ |

The views were out of this world. The hike to see the Delicate Arch is not easy but well worth it. Bring plenty of water because it is hot in the summer. My suggestion would be to post a ranger at the Delicate Arch when it is busy. The line was very long to take pictures and many seemed to be doing viral videos and photo shoots. Need to be in and out in a minute or less. Some were taking 5 minutes or longer and people were getting angry.

Great trail!

By Alexis H |

Absolutely loved the arches! We ended up doing the 5 mile devils garden trail, difficult but worth it! For-sure wear shoes that have traction!

Fabulous scenery

By Gail G |

We drove the scenic drive and were really wowed by the amazing scenery. For us, way better than Zion! Plenty of places to stop and take photos. Not too scary a drive. Wasn’t overly busy. A must if in the area.

Amazing

By 86MissyJ |

We enjoyed our visit to the Arches. We had a timed entry and had a little wait to get in, but the park was awesome to experience. The views were unbelievable and we did a few of the shorter hikes. This is a terrific park to visit.

A dream national park!

By maryse |

Back in this national park 10 years after its discovery and the magic still works. The charm of the place worked on my children. Short walks allow you to discover incredible rock formations.
On the logistical side, the entry slot reservation system is efficient and the presence of toilets and water fountain is very appreciable in summer. Despite this, we still see visitors, in the heat of the day, especially families, setting out on the trails bareheaded, without water bottles, with their hands in their pockets. This will always surprise me.

Wow, but pace yourself in the heat

By mvidro |

Gorgeous and well worth the effort even in 90+ temperatures. Pace yourself and carry ample water.

The park requires time-entry tickets. These are available up to six (6) months in advance via the Recreation.gov website. Book as early in the morning as possible—it will be cooler and far less crowded.

Also, for those older and less mobile: I didn’t see a single bench in the Park. Some made due with large rocks close to the trail, but those were few.

Don’t forget your sunscreen and water!!

By Lisa M |

We spent the day here and had the nicest time! We didn’t bring enough water and forgot sunscreen. Don’t recommend doing either. The weather was ideal and the people from all over were wonderful. The scenery was post card perfect. We packed a lunch and had it at delicate arch.

Wow this is a Beautiful Park🤩

By Lourdes G |

This park is Beautiful. Go to Park Avenue and also to Double Arch and Delicate Arch. We did not get to see it all in one day. I will have to come back to finish it. Don’t let anyone tell you that the hike to Delicate Arch is easy, it is NOT easy, but it’s worth it. Do not attempt to start the hike when it’s hot. The hike up has some very near vertical areas and it if it’s hot it’s nearly impossible unless you are in Great shape. For the average person over 50, take plenty of water. More that you think you’ll need. The up is hard and the down is easier but you have to pay attention. If tu trip on the rocks you will rolls all the way down. You have to pay attention on this one. Once you get to the top, the view is totally worth it and everyone up there is super nice. Would return and would do it again, but only while the weather is cool.
Enjoy

Amazing Views around every corner

By Tom Y |

Arches is absolutely named correctly. Spectacular views just from the scenic road. Get off the road and hike to some of the features and you will not be disappointed. The park does get busy, so make sure to contact them ahead of time to see if reserved entry times are needed.

Dawn and sunset are amazing!

Beautiful

By Dana O |

Beautiful park with a lot of hiking if you are up to it. A lot of the sites are close to the road also for the less adventurous. Road is 18 miles in and 18 miles out with plenty of pull offs and bathrooms along the way.

Beautiful national park

By Sonja E |

One of the most beautiful national parks! Beautiful rock formations and views. Very good routes to all viewpoints. Highly recommended if you are in the region.

Beautiful Park

By Connie E |

We enjoyed Arches National Park. We are in our late sixties and don’t hike as much as we used to, so I am happy to say you can see a lot of the park from your car. My husband made it to Landscape Arch but I had to quit about halfway through. We returned to the park later that evening to stargaze, the park is open 24 hours a day.

to visit, but with trekking experience

By Fabrizio |

one of the national parks visited during our visit; particular. In our case, in addition to the photo with the usual stops during the visit by car, we started early in the morning and made a long round trip trek from the Devil's Garden car park to the Double O Arch (passing through the Delicate Arch). The landscape photos are beautiful.
Other short paths, accessible to all, for visiting, for example, the Double Arch and other attractions, starting from the relative car parks.

Awesome place to see, especially in low key mid December

By wildhorsetrail |

We arrived in the afternoon, and were treated to a gorgeous show of shadows and sunset as we explored in the fading day. Crowding was not an issue. We saw a group of mule deer, including some large bucks. The children enjoyed exploring the trails and it seemed that every bend in the trail or road, there was a new impressive view. Definitely a good time of year to visit.

Can’t wait to come back!

By Cheyenne Rae |

First time there and I’m just excited to plan to come back! We only got the see like 8 arches out of all the ones they have. The scenic drive was one of the highlights too! Just driving and viewing all the beauty! Just a surreal experience

Spectacular views and many easy hikes

By Sara T |

Wow, We did the scenic drive through the park and stopped at various trail heads and took mostly easy hikes to see the different arches. We couldn’t see everything we wanted to and hike so we did two days at the park. The entire experience was amazing!

Perfect Park

By pfefmeister |

This is a great park to visit, with many sites an easy hike in. I thought the window arches were the best and easily reached from the parking lot. The delicate arch is a moderate hike for viewing. There was quite a line to enter the park at 8:00 AM and they only had one lane open - ridiculous. Must see park when visiting Moab.

2023 couples trip

By Fun Sledding |

Great park! Wonderful rock structures! Great hiking! The arches are amazing. You can drive and see lots if you don’t want to get out. Lots of stops.

Stunning

By jxx9595 |

I don't know what I can add to a National Park that already has nearly unanimous 5 star reviews. But I wholeheartedly concur with everyone else. The park is just stunning, like nothing else.

Must See National Park

By maestralaura |

Arches is a must see national park. It is unique and beautiful. If you want to visit between the hours of 7am and 4pm, you need to reserve a pass in advance on recreation.gov. We did this a couple of days, but on the day we did our long hike - Devils Garden, we went in before 7, which I recommend to beat the crowds, and beat the heat. There is so much to see and so many things to do. In addition to the day hikes, we came back at night for star gazing and night photography - I highly recommend, the sky is magnificent. Delicate Arch is the iconic arch and a must see, if you are not able to do the 3 mile hike, which is moderate, you can see if from the viewpoints past the hike. Make sure not to miss the windows, turret arch and double arch, they are right off of a parking area, super easy to get to and really awesome! If you do Devils Garden, make the extra side trips to Partition and Navajo Arches, you will not be disappointed. Overall an amazing national park.

Special Spot

By Keith M |

Arches is truly a unique experience with each arch providing a different perspective. It is unlike any other Nat Park I have visited. Both the geology as well as natural landscape offer a special opportunity to witness how diverse the natural beauty of the US really is.

Awesome experience.

By Christopher G |

If you like hiking trails it is a blast. We went with our young ones as well which, although happy they got to experience it, I think it was a bit much for them. It was difficult to enjoy as much as if we had went alone. Lots left unseen as there is a lot to see. But no regrets.

Amazing geological features in a desert location.

By Karen S |

Having lived in a hot, but humid climate most of our life, the heat was dry and very little breezes. My brother and his wife really wanted to see this unique park. If you like geology and unique landscapes, this is the place. Much of it is desert. Huge outcroppings of geologic formations.
We liked the timed entrance because the roads were not congested. We could always find a spot to pull off and park for photos. Plenty of bathrooms throughout the park.
We stopped and ate sandwiches at Devil’s Garden in the picnic area. Our table was situated in a canyon and the breeze that blew through was refreshing.
When we left Devil’s Garden, we had a different perspective of the park as we were descending. So many features looked very different. Many opportunities to take panoramic pictures.
BE PREPARED with plenty of water for each person, take food and/or snacks, and make sure you eat salty foods.

Magical!

By techgmu |

They have timed entry, so plan accordingly. We didn’t plan, but we were lucky enough to go online and reserve a time for the same day. What an incredible place — there is so much beauty! We spent all day there, and then came back after sunset to park and look at the night sky. I highly recommend.

Magnificent Utah experience

By ambertom2012 |

-Exceptional National Park!
-Unlimited views of remarkable structures of nature with MANY handicap accessible areas and overlooks, which we utilized, and was a deciding factor for visiting this park!
-Many restroom locations throughout park, but not any water refills stations other than the visitors centers that I saw.
-This drive through park has many opportunities to explore designated trails at your own risk to get closer to many of the “Arches.”
-Magnificent experience!

Unbelievable beauty

By Mike C |

What an unbelievable natural creation. This is one of the most impressive things I have ever seen. We hiked to so many of the arches and it never got old. If you are thinking of Moab for a vacation, do not hesitate. This is where you want to get away to. Make sure you get out of the car and hike to some of the great locations that are easy to get to. We also did a jeep tour one day to hit some of the offroad sites. Also well worth it to see what others will never have the chance to put eyes on.

Great scenery, wonderful experience

By Marex |

The park itself is wonderful. The scenery is spectacular and we really enjoyed it. However, unbeknownst to us, we needed a reservation for the day and hour we wanted to enter the park. Not having the reservation, we were turned away. We had to drive into Moab to the visitor center and make a reservation. The earliest we could get it for was 1:00 PM, so we had to kill a few hours. It would have been nice to know this in advance.

Cool but I Expected More

By Katie |

I kind of expected more from this park. We didn’t drive all the way down to Devil’s Garden, but there was really only one section that I liked. I thought the windows loop, turret arch, and double arch were all really cool. I liked those ones because they were a little more interactive- you had the opportunity to kind of climb around on the arches. We spent around 2-3 hours here, but I didn’t feel like I needed more time. The park was fairly crowded, but it didn’t get in the way of our experience.

Unreal!! I’m in love

By jmark311 |

This place is unreal!! The landscape is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Do yourself a favor and get out here asap. I’m ready to move the family out here. There are a wide variety of hikes ranging from chill to satisfying the adrenaline junkie in all of us.

LOVED Arches!

By Michelle D |

My favorite national park in Utah is definitely Arches! We had a great time- I especially loved double arches and climbing up for some great views !

Fill your eyes with wonders

By Paolo Carboni |

Years ago, on my trip to Utah, I failed to see the Arches National Park, opting for other visiting solutions. I must say that the desire to admire this wonder of nature had never abandoned me, so this time I took advantage by dedicating a full day to the park (perhaps little) and filling, consequently, my eyes with wonders.

Much more fascinating than expected

By TripPhotographer52 |

We went to several parks in southern Utah and the rock formations were amazing. I had bought a life time senior pass many years ago and used it again. We signed up for a Viator tour and it was well worth it. The afternoons were very hot- preferable to go in the spring or fall. There were many large rock formations- mostly red rock...They explained how the formations were formed over millions of years.

Worth the trip

By KM-COMO |

Spectacular views and a well organized self tour. So much to see but we really liked the walk around the balancing rock and the windows/double arches at the front of the park. Don’t miss the sand dune arch— a little walk back into the rocks. Delicate arch was quite a hike—we passed. The view from the bottom was just ok. Would not spend my time there. Towards the end, tunnel arch and pine tree arch we liked very much but a decent walk to both. We were too tired to finish up with the landscape arch—supposed to be great but further than we were willing to walk late in the day. Visitor center is very nice with a huge window looking up at the beautiful rocks. Don’t forget your NPS Passport stamp! 😊

Wow double Wow

By cynthia u |

this is a double wow. the most amazing views and great photo ops. this is hard walking and limited parking. the US parks now require reservations and it is still a wait to get into the park.

Amazing

By Marv R |

Like being on Mars because there is nowhere like this on Earth. Utah's National Parks are fabulous can't miss.

Timed entry pass required

By TravellingRings |

Awesome! Amazing! Must go here!!! BUT, be aware that timed entry passes are required in the summer. You can enter the park an hour before or an hour after the entry time on the pass, but make sure to get a pass well in advance of your visit!!

One of a kind park

By Heather B |

It is quite a hike to the delicate arch, but it is worth it. The "trail" is a bit sketchy at times, so I don't suggest hiking it if you are scared of heights. And if you go in the summer, go very early- because it is hot! Walking though the park is one marvel after another! Make sure you visit if you are in the area, because it is so unique and picture worthy!

Bucket list

By Irene Eng |

This national park has many arches :-) ... and trails and more.

The center is also the park's headquarters, located at the southernmost point, in an awe-inspiring setting; elevation 4,085 ft (1,245 m).

Many great places for yoga!

The planned itinerary is to visit Balanced Rock first after the Info Centre, but due to a lack of parking (a few mini buses are parking on tour buses' spots, which is wrong). To save time and avoid crowds and heat, Eric decided to take us to Park Ave instead, and visit Balanced Rock on the way out, which we did, at noon, when the natural light is far less ideal - unforgiving for photography.

Our day starts at 7:30. The drive to the visitor center is 10 minutes from our hotel. We made five stops in the park:

1. Info Center, with short movie
2. Park Avenue & Courthouse Towers viewpoint
3. Turret Arch & Double Arch
4. Delicate Arch
5. Balanced Rock

Stunning.

By stevemhall |

Absolutely stunning! Busy, even in October. Impossible to see all in one day. Recommend the loop trail via Devils Garden and Pine Tree up to Double O Arch.

Beautiful Views

By liquidpromises |

So everyone knows Arches NP, which has become one of the most popular NPs. With that said keep in mind they have a timed entry pass system which you will have to go to the NP web site to obtain a time slot to enter the park on the day you'll be visiting. We weren't able to obtain a pass on the day we went but before 7am and after 4pm you don't need a pass. Honestly we were able to get in after 4pm (still had to wait in line to enter) and were able to get to a number of the arches before sunset and got some very nice pic. The park is beautiful and worth some wait, just be aware you'll be waiting to enter and fighting some congestion at certain popular areas even during off season.

The Very Best!

During my recent journey to the breathtaking Utah national parks, I was eager to explore the remaining three, having previously marveled at the wonders of Zion and Bryce Canyon. My anticipation was met with the same level of awe and wonder as I ventured into the remarkable Arches National Park.
Prior to embarking on this adventure, I took the time to research my options and stumbled upon a piece of valuable advice on Tripadvisor – the idea of staying in Green River instead of Moab to save on lodging costs. This recommendation turned out to be a game-changer, as I found myself pleasantly surprised by the budget-friendly accommodations at the Green River Motel 6. At a mere $57, including tax and fees, I secured a clean and comfortable room. While the building may have shown its age, the savings were well worth it, leaving me with extra funds to enhance my trip.
To make the most of my visit to Arches, I took note of the requirement for timed entry reservations after 7:00 a.m., but I also learned that no reservations were necessary for early birds like me who entered before the clock struck 7. Setting my alarm for 4:00 a.m., I embarked on a pre-dawn journey that led to one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. The pitch-black Utah skies, devoid of the humidity that plagues my home state of Florida, unveiled a celestial spectacle that left me spellbound, with the Milky Way casting its brilliant glow.
Eager to catch the sunrise, I pulled off at one of the initial viewpoints and consulted my park map for guidance. My planning took an unexpected turn when a convoy of Jeeps raced past me. Figuring that they must know a prime spot, I decided to follow their lead. This impromptu decision led us to the mesmerizing Double Arch, where I struck up conversations with the friendly Jeep enthusiasts, all hailing from Georgia. As it turned out, they were just as clueless about sunrise locations as I was, but that hardly mattered. Together, we embarked on a short hike to the Double Arch, picking up fellow adventurers along the way. Our collective experience was a delightful chaos of stargazing, tracking satellites, and watching the sun ascend behind us, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink. One kind-hearted fellow even shared the night setting on his iPhone, a photography trick I was unfamiliar with. Such was the magic of this place that missing the sunrise became an inconsequential detail.
Following this delightful adventure, I proceeded to explore the Windows arch, conveniently nearby, and savored the view shortly after the sun had risen. In hindsight, this was the arch we should have chosen for our sunrise escapade, but as they say, there's always a "next time." My exploration continued as I hiked up to Delicate Arch and then embarked on a drive and hike to Landscape Arch, both of which left me in awe of Mother Nature's craftsmanship.
Among the five National Parks I've had the privilege to visit, Arches ranks as one of the best, if not the very best. While it does experience a surge in visitors around 10 a.m., even with reservations, it's nowhere near as congested as Zion, and there are no buses to contend with. Yes, it's a bit of a journey from any major airport, but the investment in time and effort is richly rewarded. Moreover, the proximity of Canyonlands and the charming town of Moab, with its excellent dining options, Jeep rentals, and charming T-shirt shops, make the entire experience even more enjoyable. In essence, there's nothing not to love about this stunning corner of Utah.

So good

It’s not just the double ark of Indiana Jones that’s worth it! What about this site which is beautiful, huge and offers such varied landscapes? Once the hourly permit is in your pocket, long hours of walking loom.

Wonderful Place

By CDTrip72 |

As you may (or better know), timed reservations are required to enter the park during the day during the heart of the travel season. As you enter in, there are only two entrance stations and for our both visits, we had to wait between 20-30 minutes to get in. It’s a little aggravating because since we already had reservations, I would assume getting in should be fairly easy but I’m assuming there were people either trying to get in without a reservation or had one for a different time. They should adopt what they did at Glacier National Park as while they also have timed reservations, they had rangers stationed before you could even get in line, and they would make sure you had a reservation first. That would save time.

Anyway, once you get in it’s hard to get lost driving wise, as there is just one main road and then not that many side roads. While people will race to places like the Delicate Arch, there are actually over 2,000 arches and we enjoyed going to other ones like the landscape and skyline. Thanks to the reservation system, getting parking in most locations isn’t an issue. There are no stores or other services once you leave the visitor center, so make sure you fill up on water and other snacks.

We kept to doing the easier/moderate hikes and were able to see most the park in two days but if you only have a day, you could hit the highlights as well. Definitely recommend!

Disappointed

Having to make an appointment and pay US$2 to visit the park is absurd.
This park isn't worth all that.
You're on the road and you're never sure what time you'll get to the park

Awesome Aug 2024 visit with family

Aug 2024 Family visit

We visited Arches national park on Aug 2024
Experience is awesome and can only felt by visiting the natural wonders

Camera can’t bring the depth of park natural beauty

Highlights of the visit is sunrise trip to Delicate Arch
Hike to delicate arch is Ricky and steep slope at places and enjoyable one at sunrise /sunset

Pls plan to spend two days( minimum) to enjoy different rocky structures like Windows/ Double windows/ architecture etc

Wonderful.

By TripBizio |

One of those places to see at least once in a lifetime.
Beautiful and above all HUGE. In the warm months, it is highly recommended to bring LOTS of water and various food, in the park you will not find anything. Fuel is also mandatory BEFORE entering the park (without petrol pumps), and it is a huge distance to travel so be very careful to refuel in the nearby town of Moab.
Always follow the trails and don't be fooled even in the coldest months, the area is very arid and it is very easy to get lost. Finding your bearings is not easy at all. Wonderful place where they shot the opening scenes of INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE.
Perhaps one of the most beautiful parks in the United States.

Give Yourself Two Days

By YukonSarah |

What an amazing park! If you have the ability do all the hikes, even if takes you a little longer to complete each one, do it. We travelled with our teenage daughter in February and did all the hikes but ran out of time before walking Park Avenue. We carried traction devises with us but only needed them for the last part of Delicate Arch. Poles were nice on the upward hike of Delicate Arch but we didn't need them anywhere else and they weren't required.

Watching the required video before going into the Fiery Furnace taught us a lot about the biological soil crust. After learning this it was sad to see how many people were walking on it. We felt the park didn't do a great job educating the general visitor so please learn about this and stay on rock and washes while you're in the park.

Utah Outdoors

By ryanwolff |

Crowds, crowds, crowds. That’s all that exists in Utah. Whether you go to the North or the South. Long lines, people driving WAY to fast.
Want to relax in Mother Nature? Think again.

People are more focused on taking photos of themselves or “tagging” themselves at a certain location then they are in actually enjoying Mother Nature.

The crowds, the drivers, the trash left on trails. It’s all too much.

Stunning!

By PHXBound |

Stunning! We visited over Presidents Day weekend. The park was busy but not overly crowded. We waited in line about 20 minutes to get in the park. We didn’t need a reservation.

Tip: Stop at the Visitor Center to watch the movie and get a map when you arrive. We spent the entire day there and went on two of the shorter hikes.

Family Friendly Vacation

By rysoftballstar |

We've done lots of NPs and this one was on the smaller side (not a bad thing). One road in and a few distinct areas. We did Landscape Arch then moved and did Windows and Double Arch. Next day did Delicate Arch (favorite of whole trip!). All with 9 and 11yr old. Family friendly hikes.Bathrooms at every trail head parking lot we went to. Each day we entered the park by 6am or earlier. Hiking right as daylight started ensured parking and trails that weren't follow the leader. Timed entry seems to be working as when we left each day midmorning there were no huge lines to enter.

Open and beautiful

By Shirley B |

This park is fully open and wonderful! State money is being used to keep the visitors center and restrooms open! Right now, it is free! A variety of hiking is available and the red rock formations are breathtaking!

Arches, Arches, Arches and So Beautiful Besides!

By Outdoor Traveler |

We visited Arches in April and spent the better part of two days there. The weather was pleasant and the park was busy, but timed-entry worked well. Make sure that you get your entry pass ahead of time. Every stop and arch is a post card. So interesting and beautiful! We enjoyed the Courthouse Towers area, Balanced Rock, Fiery Furnace Viewpoint, The Devils Garden area, The Delicate Arch viewpoints, and The Windows section. We did short hikes in several areas (Park Ave, Windows Arches and Double Arch, Balanced Rock, Delicate Arch Viewpoints, Broken Arch trail, and Landscape Arch trail). On a future trip we'd like to do longer hikes at Delicate Arch, Devils Garden, and Fiery Furnace (ranger-led only). Arches was spectacular, even better than we had expected.

Arches …..nice

By gary The Golfer |

Very hard to get the entrance ticket .
Plan it earlier ….
Or you may arrive before 7 am which require no ticket !
The trail to reach the famous delicated Arch require walking 3.2 miles one way, a bit tough hiking trail to reach it, but it’s well worth it . Bring water and wear hiking boots .
The landscape Arch is about one mile hiking , easier too !
Over all , a wonderful park to visit !

Didn't need as much time here as we thought

By RBonTheLake |

We scheduled two days for the park but only needed one. Even though we had timed entry, we were able to get to the park before 7am when no time entry is needed. This allowed us to be at the park most of the day and hike the trails we wanted. There are A LOT of people later in the day so if you can, I highly recommend you go to the park before 7, especially if you want to hike.

Arches National Park is one of Utah's top attractions.

By Radiohutch |

This was our third visit to Arches National Park. There are many great parks near Moab, but Arches will always be our first stop Arches has a timed entry system which can be a bit frustrating, but I do realize that with the tremendous tourist influx at this and other popular National Parks it is necessary. There is only one auto entry which is located just off of Highway 191. I am a photographer so I would have preferred an early morning entry, but fortunately the light is pretty good all day most days in Utah. Our timed entry was at 11 AM on Wednesday morning. We drove the entire paved road system in Arches as I photographed almost every rock. We were in the Park for approximately 6 hours. Traffic was actually pretty good. My favorite stops were Fiery Furnace and Double Arch. I am pretty patient and I never had to worry about anyone getting in front of my camera. This has got to be the best park in America for rock formations and of course the arches. Most of the trails are very easy. There are plenty of pull offs, much better than most parks. Bathrooms are plentiful. There is also a wonderful visitors center with helpful Parks people, plenty of books and clothing items. I left Arches with thoughts about my next return trip.

Beautiful place to visit

By Carol A |

Utah is beautiful!! Moab is quite the fun place to go see and stay. Lots of great hotel/motels. Rode the Colorado river in a raft. Tons of fun. Hummer ride on Hell's Revenge was scary but very exciting. A great place for family fun. Lot sof good eats as well.

Amazing Views

By dotravels |

We went on three days and had timed entry reservations for 9:00 each day. Overall the line was not too long. We did notice when we left the park each day in mid-afternoon, the lines were quite long. We stopped at the view points on the scenic drive and did some easy, easy/moderate hikes. The scenery is beyond amazing.

NATURAL SHOW

By Giovanna G |

Park nothing short of spectacular to experience and two days are not enough to visit it.
Beautiful colors, wonderful lost among the rocks that have been worked by wind and rain. The symbol of the park and the Utah state is a wonderful arch that with about 45 minutes of walking you can admire in all its beauty. Be careful to take the walk in the sun, you have to bring a hat, water and plenty of sunscreen, but the effort is worth it.

Utah Picturesque

By Greg B |

We’ve been to many national parks and Arches did not disappoint. Great hiking (although a bit warm - in the 80’s F) but just driving to the many of the scenic sites is great too. We found Arches unique because of the natural arches (of course) and the incredible landscapes that can found only in this park. Our favorite activity was the delicate arch trail - the Delicate Arch is inspiring. This hike won’t be for everyone, but if you’re willing to bring some water and not afraid of some exertion it should be well worth it. I can say, there is some element of risk once you get to the arch but it’s safe and picturesque.

Just remember, you have to register a time to enter the park - we had a short wait of about 15 minutes and there were plenty of parking spaces all throughout the park (this is very helpful). We visited in late September so our timing was right.

Fabulous viewing of gigantic unique rock formations! And petroglyphs

By Mary B |

Fabulous viewing of this unique natural area of other worldly and gigantic unique rock formations and ancient petroglyphs - You should see it to believe it!!

Reservation required to enter Arches National Park

By Cameraman999 |

You cannot now enter the park between 7am and 4pm unless you have pre-booked a Timed Reservation. It has always been the case that a visitor could turn up (early:7am), pay the entry fee and enter the fantastic park.
Now you will be turned away unless you have a Reservation number.
Arches Park was one of the reasons that we made the journey to the USA. To be turned away was a major disappointment. We will not be re-visiting

Delicate Arch Trail not to be missed!

By MissDegustatrice |

Wonderful park to visit and I recommend to do the first thing the hike to Arches, under the sun in August was very challenging, but with a few liters of water and several stops you can do!
The same day unfortunately towards the end of the morning it came to rain and it would have been impossible to go there.
We did the Delicate ArchTrail, with a height difference of 150 meters, it is a challenging path but it is definitely worth it! Being under the most famous "Arch" in the world is magnificent!
Remember to book park entrance on their website paying $2 per vehicle.

Amazing formations

By BA |

Really enjoyed our time in the park. Line to get in took about a half hour. Once inside it never felt crowded. We stopped at quite a few of the pull offs to enjoy the views. Even without being able to hike to the vantage points, we had a great time, and got to see all the beautiful spots. Spent probably close to two hours in the park.

Arches NP is a must stop if you are in the Moab UT area.

By YSREBOB |

We visited all five of the national parks in Utah, and I would rank Arches as number three behind Zion and Canyonlands. Arches is conveniently located close to Moab. Show up before sunrise for a unique experience. It will also help you beat the heat and the crowds. Most of the early risers are headed to Delicate Arch, but my wife and I stopped at Balancing Rock, and we had the sunrise experience to ourselves. Broken Arch and Sand Arch are easy hikes. Sand Arch seems like something out of an Indiana Jones movie!

Great day at Arches!

By Michael L |

We had a great day at Arches. Get an early start to avoid the summer heat and enjoy the arches. We took some shorter hikes and visited the Visitor Center.

A Continuation of home and beauty

By Paul F |

I went here in 2017. The only downfall was that the campgrounds were closed and had to stay down at the Colorado river. The Crowds were a lot but still a wonderful place to go.

Never gets old

By karoleigh |

We have been going to Arches for ages and we still love it. We also know all of the tricks of visiting Moab and the park to give ourselves the best experience possible. As you've probably seen from reviews and the park's website (always check park websites!) there is a requirement for timed entries. This was started because of the huge numbers of people who have gotten in line at the gate and have tried to get into the park. Once they entered, they became parking lot "vultures" who kept driving around looking for any available parking space, only to find out that there weren't any. Folks like this arrive too late in the day to get a parking space, even with timed entry. As for the effectiveness of timed entry, I will say that it still pays to get there before 9:00 if you can because even with timed entry we noted that the lines to get in were very long at about noon when we were leaving the park on October 11.

To get timed entry, get the app for your phone. You can book the timed entry appointment on the app by scheduling any available appointment time that is available. We booked ours at 7:00 pm the night before our entry when more tickets were released. We got a 9:00 am appointment. We arrived at 8:45 am, but the woman at the entrance booth didn't say anything about our early arrival. She just scanned our QR code from the app and wished us a nice day. If you don't mind entering the park before 7:00 am, there is no timed entry requirement. Also, after 4:00 pm there's also no timed entry requirement.

As for the park itself, it has a collection of amazing features like you won't see anywhere else. The best place to start is Devil's Garden, which is a hiker's paradise located at the farthest end of the park road. It is there that you will see a multitude of arches and interesting rock formations as well as beautiful views of the mountains. We start our day early there because of the ease of parking and the greater feeling of isolation from many people. The next-best place to go is the Windows. That has some pretty cool arches as well.

For those who are pressed for time, it is possible to spend just a half-day at Arches as we did this time. We visited the Devil's Garden and the Windows and walked at both places. Green River is less than an hour away from Moab, so you don't have to even stay in Moab if you don't want to while visiting Arches. We actually left Moab after just one night and stayed in Richfield, Utah the next night. If you want to stay in Moab, there are lots of hotels and places to eat. If you are in Moab for multiple nights, consider driving to Canyonlands for a visit. It's quite different from Arches.

Absolutely Breathtaking!!!

From the park rangers to the helpful & lovely visitor center's staff to gorgeous awe-inspiring views, Arches Park is a MUST SEE!!!

Poor staff.

By Katrijn C |

Nice park but poorly managed. Dozens of Rangers are walking around, but apparently none able to open a second cash register leaving a giant queue.

Amazing landscaping. A must see!

By Josh R |

Wow! Amazing experience. Great pictures. A nice time seeing the formations. More and better signage needed. Paths not marked well. Very hot. No shaded areas to just picnic or relax.

I did this for a science project a few weeks ago

By Amaris Bell |

My favorite part of this park is I didn't know the colorado river ran through this park tribe that lived in my park Hopi, Pueblo of Zuri, or A:shiwi. The plant and trees there are Tree diversity, Netleaf hackberry, box elder, Russian olive, Tamisk, and Fremont Cottonwood. Animals there are mule deer, desert cottontails, rock squirrels, antelope squirrels, and hawks. The Landforms and scenery here are balanced rocks, salt dissolution structures, canyons, and dunes fields.

Wow! Prepare to be inspired

By 307leven |

I visited this park on 2 days from November 11-12th as I wanted to avoid the crowds and having to make a reservation before October 4th. The first day was via a tour (Moab in a Day) with another couple as we traveled throughout the park all morning visiting the various scenic arches throughout the park. We visited over a dozen of the arches during our journey and were able to hike to them as they had short trails leading to them from the scenic pullovers. We started at dawn and drove through the entrance as there were no park staff manning the entrance gates that early. It was cold following a cold front, but I dressed in layers and had gloves on, even then, the cold temps weren't so bad because the humidity is very low.

As we traveled to the different arches, we hiked to them and took dozens of photos and just admired the stunning scenery. It was never very crowded due to the "off season" and we didn't have any trouble finding parking at the pullover areas. Later in the morning, we did see it getting more crowded at the very popular Delicate Arch parking lot, so we just drove down the road a short distance to the pullover section where you could view Delicate Arch from a distance if you don't want to hike to it. We spent the entire morning here (about 5 hours), but we had to leave as Canyonlands was also on our tour. However, you could easily spend 2-3 days here (or more) if you choose to do more hiking, photography, and spend more time viewing the scenery. We even saw some campers at the campground within the park.

The second day, I only had about 3 hours because I wanted to hike to the Delicate Arch before leaving for Bryce Canyon which was several hours away. I went to the park at 6:30am and traveled right to the Delicate Arch parking lot and arrived just before 7am and started my 1 1/2 mile hike to the Delicate Arch which took about 40 minutes. I admired the arch and took some photos and spent about 15-20 minutes admiring the view before hiking back down. On the way down, I took a right hand detour near the bottom to view the ancient petroglyphs that were on a large rock before leaving just after 8:30 - 9am.

If visiting, I recommend wearing hiking shoes or boots. You can get by with sneakers, but hiking shoes/boots provide better ankle support and superior gripping on the many rocks and rugged trails throughout the park. Also, I recommend drinking plenty of water during your hikes and bringing snacks for energy. It was only about 25-30 degrees, so I recommend dressing in layers for warmth if it's that cold and wearing gloves or bringing hand warmers.

Arches National Park

By DontStopExploring |

Arches National Park is one of the coolest National Parks that I have ever been to. We spent two days in the park as part of our 3-week road trip through Utah, Nevada, California and Oregon. At Arches National Park, the natural arches are literally everywhere and none of them look the same. In fact, there is over 2,000 natural arches inside this park. We did Delicate Arch on our first day and visited Landscape Arch and the Window Arches on the second day along with Devils Garden. If you go in the summer like we did, bring plenty of water, sunscreen and a hat for your head. It was very dry and hot even at the start of the day. Arches National Park is amazing. Make sure you also get your timed entry into the park. This cuts down on congestion at some of the more popular trails.

Hmm what can I say… WoW Amazing!!!!

By pierre c |

We visited the 5 National Parks of Utah... and we were amazed at each of them. And what is extraordinary is that the 5 offer very different landscapes. Concerning Arches... we find ourselves facing immense and magnificent panoramas, enormous, magnificent arches and which for some seem so fragile... we spent 2.5 days in Moab, and devoted 1.5 days to Arches (be careful , very important you must book your visit on the internet), then a day at Canyonland and Dead horse state park. If, like us, you like to hike (nicely) a minimum, 2.5 days is a bit short.

It’s no Canyonlands National Park

By ksmith72 |

We’d heard so much about this National Park. We were a little disappointed with the park as a whole. I think because we had high expectations. Crowds in mid May, while schools are still in session was surprising. Bathrooms closed, parking lots filled even with timed entry and trails not well marked. Glad we visited but wouldn’t return. A one and done for us.

Must see

By Lauraly B |

Arches National Park is a place to visit more than once. There are many arches to see and trails to hike, all are worth taking the time to do. Spring is a good time to visit the park while temperatures are cooler and wildflowers in bloom. Don't forget to bring sunscreen and lots of water as there isn't much shade in the park.
Note: a timed entry ticket is now required to enter the park.

Beautiful park

By SteelCity13 |

Beautiful! Different than any other national park that I have been too! The park was smaller than expected but that made it easier to get around. Hikes to the arches were on the smaller side 1-3 miles round trip and can even just drive right up to double arch and the windows area. The one thing I didnt expect is that alot of the hiking was through sand which make it alittle more challenging. Park was busy but never felt crowded. You have to have a permit to get into the park between 7-4 and for some of the hikes. This place is a must see! Also pretty good bathroom facilities.

Get the GuideAlong app for the best experience

By Kiara S |

This is beautiful beyond words. Fascinating geology and breathtaking to experience. We got the GuideAlong app and it made the experience like having our own private tour. There’s a nominal fee, you download it before you enter the park, and it will provide commentary all along the journey. Valuable information is provided about the formations, the history, geology and best places two take photos or hikes. It made the experience even more memorable.

Go There if in Utah

By potatochip1 |

Arches National Park is a great park with lots to see. Kids can earn their Junior Ranger badge by participating in some activities. Just go to the Visitor Center. The hikes are reasonable in length. If going in the summer, make sure you go early in the morning. You can go in before 7:00 am without a time entry pass. This allows you to by-pass the crowds and avoid the heat. Delicate Arch is not easy to get to with kids so we went to Windows, Balance Rock, Sandstone Arch and Skyline Arch. All really beautiful

One of the best parks

By dsmaddox |

This was my third trip to Moab and Arches National Park. The area is one of my favorites with many parks and federal lands to explore. Arches is the jewel of the area and a must visit if your there. Wear comfortable shoes with good soles, especially if you’re not a steady walker. Dress in layers and always have water with you, especially in the summer months.

Great Trip to Arches

By Donna B |

this is a new tour for the Tourism Center. Sean-Paul was funny and kept it all very interesting. so glad we went on a tour because we would not have know what to look at or what we were looking at for that matter. plus the fact that you had to have a time reservation, we did not have one, we were winging a 3 day visit to Moab except for the Under Canvas.

Arches, God's Work of Art at its finest

By GKirton |

I've always wanted to visit Arches for the longest time. Finally, I made it happen with my family. Arches National Park is God's work of art. There are so many different rock formations that tower above you, plus the red coloration that makes it look like real-life painting. We're fortunate that there's no timed entry and no lines. You can drive around different points or hike some of the rock formations. We hiked Delicate Arch, and what a beauty.! We started to hike at 8 am, but the heat of the sun was already brutal. But when you finally get to see it, it's all worth it. I hope to come back to hike some of the other rock formations that we missed during our visit.

Hiking

By Veve |

Something off my bucket list. Grew up in Utah but just never had the time to see this beautiful place. Weather was ok still cold and during the hike some ice. Take water and be prepared for cardio. I would recommend hiking sticks there are some places that are rough. Took about 3 hours I walk slow. Took many breaks. People said hi a lot hahah felt like I was in a small coffee shop. If your Native American you get into the park free!! Visited during low peak season so parking was ok I can’t imagine how busy it is when it’s summer.

One of my favorite National Parks

By Disbet |

I love coming visiting Arches. The scenery is just so beautiful. So many hikes to choose from as well. Get there very early or early afternoon if you want to hike or park anywhere. Cell service is decent. Be sure to bring plenty of water.

Gorgeous park, would visit again

By Laurence_Brussels |

It was our second time (1st time was 23 years ago) and this time, we wanted to explore more areas of the park. We arrived at 4:00 pm to see it less crowded and in a warmer light (nicer for the photos) and it was gorgeous. The only annoying thing is that often, the trails are not properly indicated, and you lose a lot of time trying to reach a certain point. But all in all, with Bryce, it's my favorite park. Roads are good, there are enough places to stop and take pictures or to eat and enjoy the scenery which is much richer than just Arches. Loved it and would definitely visit again for more than 1/2 a day.

Loved my 2nd Trip to Arches

By Mayur M |

Love our 4 day trip to Moab. From Atlanta we flew in to GJT (Grand Colorado Junction), rented a car (wish we had rented a 4x4 Jeep).

It's a 90 minute drive and drove straight to Canyonland National Park, reached there at 3:00 p.m. and we did the drive, stopped at all viewpoints, enjoyed Mesa Arch, Grandview Point, Shaffer Trail viewpoints.

We had entry pass for Saturday and abundance at 10 for the Arches National Park. We hiked to Delicate Arch, Landscape Arch and many short Arches.

My first trip to Arches was in 2017 summer and it was 100+ weather back then. Arches trip in April was perfect as it was 80 only on 1 day and for a few hours only.

Awesome park!

Mother Nature Premium Art Gallery - TIPS for visit

By BrakiWorldTraveler |

Certainly one of top US NP. It's located some 10-15 min drive north from downtown.
I won't write here how amazing it is, as many already did that and there's nothing I'd add. Instead, I give some tips from our preparing for the trip, as well from our ground experience:
- Arches NP is one of few requiring time slot to enter. You can reserve your slot at Recreation website months in advance,
- I suggest doing that as soon as you know your visiting date,
- I strongly suggest reserving the very first morning slot 7-8 AM,
- This will benefit you not waiting in long lines to enter the park gates,
- Furthermore you won't have to wait at parking lots for someone to leave to park,
- Once inside, around 7.15 AM drive directly to the main star - Delicate Arch. It's around the middle of the Scenic loop drive. At this time there're very few people while later you'll wait significantly just to park,
- If you want to hike to the Delicate Arch have in mind you need minimum 2,5 hours - one hour to get to it, another to go back and at least half an hour to spend there. Hike is easy to medium with some narrow parts you need extra care for,
- If you don't want to hike, drive a mile further to Lower Delicate Arch viewpoint. The Arch is visible from this point, however in a distance and looks tiny. For much better experience there's a short 10-15 min hike from there to the Upper viewpoint from where the view is fantastic with spectacular scenery around - maybe even better than from the Arch itself,
- After visiting the Arch with not so many people at this time you can now easily cover the rest of NP,
- I suggest first driving up to the furthest point for the Landscape and Double O Arch,
- After that you can drive easily back visiting others - note there are over 2000 arches in the NP,
- Must visit are: Sand Dune Arch, Double and Turret Arch, Windows Arches, Balanced Rock, Great Wall, Park Avenue,...
- Have plenty of water, sunscreen and hat with you,
- We spent around 7 hours in the park and covered all main attractions with short and easy hikes. If you're more to hiking and exploring you can easily spend entire day or even two days.

So Much to See

By Chip144 |

Came here to do the Mighty Five having only been to Zion before. I didn't know what to expect but I had a great time and some of the views were just incredible. Just a helpful hint is to get a Timed Entry slot as soon as you can or get there before 7 AM, because even in September it can get hot and hiking in the afternoon's 90 degrees will limit your progress. There is very limited shade. Plan well

Beautiful NP, fall definitely a great time to go!!

By Lori A |

Best time of year, no crowds at all, high 50's, perfect hiking weather! Delicate Arch is a must! There were almost no people up there this time of year, a bit of a hike, but worth it! Second in order of arches, a short hike to Double arch, another must see! Landscape arch was my 3rd in order of preference another pretty easy enjoyable hike. Don't miss Park Ave!

Hiker's Dream

By daisy5674 |

First time in Utah, did not disappoint! Climbing and hiking available for hikers at all levels! We found the petroglyphs and a small cemetery in the desert! We registered to visit in the morning; there wasn't a line/wait to get in. The visitor center was very informative!

Stunning and spectacular

By MelvinPusfinger |

This is a superb national park. Definitely spend an entire day here. Probably the best way to see the place is to drop by the visitor center, and then proceed to the end of the road to The Devil’s Garden. Then you can work your way back.

The Devil’s Garden has a nice hike. Approximately 1.5 miles round-trip. And you’ll see two impressive arches. The trail has very little shade. So bring plenty of water. Also water sprayers and cool towels are a great idea.

On the way back, there are a number of locations where you can see additional arches. Some are visible from the main road. Some require a short hike.

This national park is not all about the arches. There are many impressive rock formations.

Watching the 15 minute movie in the theater in the visitor center is a good idea. It puts a lot of what you will see in the park in context and explains how the arches are formed and how they break down.

This is definitely a must see place if you are in Southern Utah.

Just gorgeous

By greglinmon |

My daughter and I are moving her across the country and stopped here as we travel towards Washington state. We love National Park sites. This is an outstanding site. Just gorgeous, Very close to Moab as you probably know. Make sure you get a reservation and tickets in advance.

Pretty

By Hadley96 |

It's a very pretty site. Also, it's a great picture opportunity. We enjoyed driving to each area. We needed a timed entry ticket for this time of year.

Arches NP

By Esperanza G |

One of the most beautiful National Parks I have visited. The abundance of arches, stone walls, rocks in precarious balance, on a sandy bottom created by the wear and tear of millions of years make this park unmatched.

Pretty!

By lmorgan138 |

There are plenty of Arches in this park. Beautiful and a very picturesque road going through the park. You have plenty of opportunity to pull over and take pictures.
We spent a couple of hours here and then I went back to check out some other areas.
One thing is very important, you must have a timed entry that you can request through Recreation.gov. If you go after 4pm, you do not need one. This goes from April through October.

A must see

By Cris H |

Breathtaking views every where you look. I accessed using the national park pass and booked an entry time the day before. Unfortunately the access numbers are still too high for people to get parking at the sites that are there. demand is just too high for the available parking and you loose a lot of time waiting for a spot to open up. The hikes, when you can get to them, are wonderful but take lots of water as it's unprotected with limited shade.

Beautiful Park

By Robert B |

Magnificent and busy park. We did several short hikes but not the longer one to Delicate Arch. Sort of regret that now. However, we saw lots of other arches and amazing geological sites. There are numerous places to pull off on the road around the park. Remember, you must have a timed entry pass for Arches.

Beautiful park

By Katy P |

This was a neat park and we learned quite a bit about the formation of the arches. The rangers were all friendly and gave helpful information on the park. We enjoyed a few short trails, even in the heat. We would recommend going in the spring or fall as the sun was quite brutal.

Great half a day stop on a road trip

By Mary G |

Great family experience. We were on a road trip and it’s a good stop to stretch legs and walk to see the pretty views God created. We turned around after the Windows opening since we didn’t want to spend the whole day their, The map is very helpful with info on easy kid friendly hikes. No service in some spots, bathrooms scattered throughout. If your passing thru Moab, make the stop!

Absolute Must-See

By Niwotois |

Wow. Just wow. If you have a chance, do not miss Arches. It would be worth seeing if there were no arches! The scenery is that fantastic.

A few tips from an older, widely-traveled visitor.
1. PAY ATTNETION to the timed entry requirements that go into effect on April 1 (through October 31). They may seem like a pain, but parking is very limited throughout the park and this restriction is one that the visitors requested be put in place.
2. Do stop and learn from the Visitors' Center. Knowing about the widely varying types of stone, how it was formed and when, colors, textures, etc. will greatly enhance your understanding and appreciation of what you will be seeing. It's not just a random bunch of pretty rocks. The rangers at the Center can give great advice as to where to go and what to see based upon your interests and limitations.
3. The terrain and geology varies widely as you move further along the almost 20 mile long road into the park. Once you've seen the massive red cliffs at the beginning, you will be amazed at the 'frozen' sand dunes in the flatter interior and finally the 'fins' and steep passages near the north end. Such a variety in a small distance.
4. Based on our many hours long visit, I would say the following are absolute must-sees: (in order south to north) Park Avenue viewpoint; Courthouse Towers viewpoint/Three Gossips; Balanced Rock; the North and South Windows (our absolute favorites) and Turret Arch (on a spur road to the east); hiking some distance (your choice) into Devil's Garden at the north end of the Park.
5. The most famous arch - Delicate - is a half mile pretty easy hike in. There is a longer, more difficult trail. Ti can be seen at a distance from very short trails at the end of the spur read.
6. Great hiking trails for all abilities and also great biking.
7. Any morons who would do the following probably will not change their bad habits but I can't help trying. Signs EVERYWHERE say stay off of the arches, stay off of the extremely fragile crusty desert soils found outside of the marked paths, and do NOT take pets - leashed or otherwise - on any trail. Naturally we saw people violating all three of these very reasonable and necessary requests.

Finally, drive slowly, walk slowly, take lots of water (water was not availlable in the park when we visited), park only at marked areas and keep a lookout at all times for arches. There are over 2,000 within the park boundary!!!!

Stunning National Park, A Must See On Your US Travels!

By Vi |

Arches National Park was one to see on my small bucket list going to Moab. We absolutely LOVED this park! The different arches naturally created by wind and rain are so amazing to behold. We plan to go every year from now on!

Tips: Get a reservation online, otherwise there's quite a long line to get in. Also if you plan on seeing several national parks, you'll save by buying an annual pass or lifetime pass (62+ only) from AAA or the Ranger stations.

To see any of these arches require a lot of walking/hiking, sometimes 3 miles in, 3 miles back out. Plan to spend a whole day there.

If you can afford it, try staying at Under Canvas. It's a 5 min drive to entrance to Arches Nat Park. Otherwise, the town of Moab has nice accommodations.

Just go already!

By theandrewsnation |

Arches is a phenomenal park! Be aware you normally need a gate time and entry is 15$. Just one way in and out do stop and view or hike. Delicate arch hike is longer but the rest are fairly easy.

Great despite the snow!

By Bonnie B |

Just beautiful! It got so cold, though, that it snowed! Very well organized park. We had a timed entry at 7 a.m. but it was well worth it. They should really do this at all of the national parks - it would reduce overcrowding a lot. Got some great pictures - and you will, too!

Moab/Arches/Canyonlands in February

By Joe R |

With plenty of sunshine and temps in the 20s overnight to close to 60 in the day, we had excellent hiking weather. Didn't need a jacket, just a wool sweater, except for one windy and mostly cloudy day in Canyonlands when I donned a waterproof shell., hat, and gloves. There was just a smattering of other hikers on the trails as we hiked to Delicate Arch, the double arch, and other short hikes - no waiting in line and always an open picnic table available at lunchtime. The clear blue sky beautifully contrasted with the orange hued rock formations. Coming from Minnesota, it felt like a warm, clear day in October with the orange colored rock taking the place of autumn leaves. Several Moab businesses were closed for the season, but that still left plenty of choices for our 3 days there. I think we could have filled another day, but will likely come back again.

There is no mistaking why this is a National Park

By DLP |

The geological formations in this park are awe inspiring. The landscapes are beautiful. Hiking provides some astounding views, but the pull offs are just as mesmerizing. This time of year, it is hot and you should properly prepare when coming to the park, but a visit here is well worth your time.

Gorgeous National Park!

By Kathrine |

We were so grateful to experience this beautiful National Park. What a treasure! From the entrance and the stunning red rock formations to the arches and prairie in between - it's amazing. A must visit!

We stopped in the Visitor Center - well worth a stop with wonderful displays and helpful rangers. We had 2 days to enjoy the park and its trails with early park reservations. We did go back after 4pm (no reservation needed) to enjoy the sunset. There are picnic areas and multiple pull-offs to enjoy the spectacular scenery.

We did not hike difficult trails but did enjoy walking on many to view the arches. One of our favorites was the Windows section with Double Arch. Stunning. Highly Recommend.

Amazing place

By Bruce S |

Really scenic, amazing place to go. Can get very crowded at times...go early as its open 24/7. Make sure you take the relatively short walks to some of the arches that can't be seen from the road.

Moab and Arches

By holly d |

Did a guided tour with Moab Adventures. 4 hikes east to moderate. We had an amazing tour guide- Kim, very knowledgeable and personable. She described the hikes very well in case anybody had any thoughts of not being able to do them. She explained all the history and geology of the area. Would highly recommend.

Spectacular!

By dfb260 |

Spectacular views! Drive through the park and stop to explore as you wish.Important: reservations required (except before 7:00 am or after 4:00 pm); go to the park website. Take food and beverages and enjoy a picnic.

DON’T MISS IT

By Jeffrey L |

Spectacular. Not to be missed. Concentrates on individual formations rather than vistas. I recommend using a gps self-driven guide.

Lots to do here

By KH |

There is so much to see and do in this park! We love all the hikes and playing in the red sand. My kids have asked to visit here and this was our second time visiting! The arches are beautiful and mesmerizing!

One of Utah’s grandest parks

By dixiepeach |

This park is such a beautiful place to visit. There are so many interesting places to stop and take photos or go for a hike. If you visit in the summer take plenty of water and sunscreen as it’s very hot. Even if you have mobility issues you can see many of the stunning rock formations just by driving through. Best to book your timed entry early so you can enter at your desired time. The visitor center and gift shop is very nice as well.

Beautiful Marvel

By Douglas M |

A visual experience not to be forgotten. The Park Rangers are friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable. The hiking paths are well marked and offer helpful information about the distance. Plan for multiple days to truly enjoy nature's beauty. Don't pass up the visit center. A great short film and informational exhibition helps to understand the marvels of the park.

Spectacular rock formations

By Elmar |

You shouldn't use the term natural wonder inflationarily, but in Arches National Park, that word is entirely true. The rock formations are absolutely spectacular and the eponymous stone arches can be admired in several places - best when the sun begins its setting and makes the rocks appear in a bright orange.

Beautiful!

By Megan P |

Loved this park! Delicate Arch and Landscape Arch were our favorites. So much to see and explore. Highly recommend for all ages.

Mandatory stop

By DueEmme |

One of the most beautiful American parks visited. From this year they have adopted timed entry to regulate the flow of incoming cars, and I must say that it worked, no crowds and parking spaces are always free. Great American organization. The road that runs through the park is very well maintained and all the viewpoints well signposted. There are different paths to follow, from the simplest to the most challenging to get to the delicate arch. It is a trail of about 5 kilometers, almost entirely in the sun and quite challenging for those who are not trained. Entirely doable with the necessary steps, but certainly not suitable for people with mobility problems. The show, however, is truly remarkable. It took us about 1 hour to go up and half an hour to go down.

Simply Amazing!

By TerryRxyz |

There are the arches, of course, but to me the massive stone blocks were just as amazing. Well worth the visit.

There are lots of hiking trails, but if you aren't up to long hikes there are several places worth a short walk for better views. Unless you are into serious hiking, you can do it in less than a day.

Do check out the entrance requirements before you go as they try to find ways to address the massive over crowding. They've tried issuing entrance passes, and closing the entrance for part of the day. Those efforts are successful in keeping crowds under control but require visitors to know in advance what the current plan is to avoid disappointment.

Gorgeous scenery

By Jdcnew |

All the arches are beautiful and the drive is gorgeous. We got there when the park opened and it wasn't crazy crowded. One of the trails we took was not well marked so be careful and go back the way you went in. Also use the restroom BEFORE you go into the park. Their "restrooms" are disgusting. I was completely disappointed in the level of upkeep for a national park. I expected better. Other than those two things, the area is amazingly beautiful and worth the trip.

Arches NP #1 in Moab in my book

By William L |

Out of 7 National Parks in 10 days, Arches remains my favorite. Hard to explain why, it's not just the dramatic arches or the incredible views. There's a feeling about this place that is magical especially if you have kids. Do not miss Sand Dune arch, we spent so much time here, soft and warm red sand, its like being on a different planet.

Spectacular Viewing

By slhokie |

We drove through and stopped at several lookout places to admire the rock formations. The variety is amazing. The film at the visitor center is well worth the time to view it.

What can I rate this place: beautiful, amazing, outstanding, peaceful, you can name it all.

By 1xPlor |

Its my 1st time I've been to Arches. What can I rate this place: beautiful, amazing, outstanding, peaceful, you can name it all. But the summer is not the best time unless you can deal with the heat. I would recommend winter or spring. You get more energy to see beautiful arches, figures and red rocks. You do get to drive around a bit to see the scenic views. Most of the Arches are not visible from inside your car. You have to get out and go for short hikes. There are many hiking trails but I only did one hiking (Dedicate Arch) since I was on the tight schedule. So if you do not have time like me, at least try one hiking to dedicate arch, you won't disappointed. I promise you that. A must see. Bring water and snacks to keep you going but this is not a difficult hike tho. I definitely can't wait to go back and spend more time there. There are many hiking trails i need to explore.

Arches

By bubba073 |

Beautiful. Used national park pass and a reservation time. No issues getting in and only took about 20 minutes. Prepare to do some walking but not difficult. Drink lots of water or you will pay a price in how you feel.

Beautiful in the day... and night.

By Rich S |

This is a beautiful park that can mostly be seen in about half a day. I would recommend arriving early in the day and starting with Delicate Arch, as that is the most popular spot in the park. It's also one of the steeper trails. So getting that out of the way with fewer crowds and cooler temperatures is the way to go. Then you can check out the other areas of the park afterwards, like Double Arch, Landscape Arch (at Devil's Garden), and Park Avenue. Also, as a bonus, if you're staying overnight nearby and you have clear skies, I would recommend going back at night. The park stays open 24 hours a day and offers some great opportunities for star-gazing.
