Arrived on a Saturday around 1pm and found parking. Used my Red Rocks annual pass. It wasn't super crowded at all and I was surprised. Two options - the trail and the climb. We did the climb because we wanted to hike up as far as we could. It got pretty hairy pretty fast because once you reach the base, the trail markers stop and you climb anywhere you want. With no defined trail, there was a lot of going left and then turning around and going right because there was no where else to go or no trail. Hiked for about 2 hours so it was worth it and had gorgeous views. Just wished we could have gone all the way to the top (even though we were pretty high) and wish it had better marked trails for the climb.

This was truly amazing hike. We got there early to avoid the crowd and the sun. We took the trail and ended up climbing the Rock. We went as far as we can go! It was breathtaking. Parking $5. Bring plenty of water.

Easy to get to, the views are breath taking. The closer you get to sunset the more dramatic the views become. We didn’t hike it due to the heat of 100 degrees, but appeared to be a fairly easy climb.

This was a great hike. We climbed up about 1/4 quarter of the way up. We also circled the rock. It took us about 90 minutes. We saw plenty of others but it was not crowded. Really enjoyable. Relatively easy, especially if you skip the climbing.

We stopped here for a little hike and made it almost to the tippy top but it was starting to drizzle and we didn’t want to slip on the rocks. Totally different hiking here vs hiking in places like Smoky Mtns. Loved it-

My husband and I hiked Bell’s rock today and it was absolutely the most beautiful sunrise spot in Sedona. We got there early morning for sunrise and there were only 2-3 cars, so no issues with parking and other hikers. The trail is well defined on the lower level but as soon as you get to 2nd plateau, all the signs disappear. If you want to go any higher, it will be a moderate to advanced rock climbing. You are going to have to climb up rocks and make some leaps, rock shuffling. There isn’t a defined trail going up or down, you just have to start climbing rocks where you feel comfortable. We saw several people make it all the way to the top. It’s worth the views!

Got there early and still only a few spots in the lot. Great morning hike to start the day. Sunrise was beautiful

Amazing views! You can make this hike easy or challenging depending how far up you go. Lots of beautiful views!

We arrived at Bell Rock on the final morning of our incredible Sedona visit. It is the perfect way to say farewell to such a beautiful, sacred place. Bell Rock was an easier hike for us and provided us with a sense of peace and calm. A must see on your Sedona visit

An easy walk Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte. Awesome scenery. A great hike for everybody, especially peopl that are not avid hikers.

Easy trail (as long as you do not climb the rock), views of Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte are sweet and closeup. Lots of signs on virtually all intersections, however, since multiple trails intersect each other, the signs needed a "you are here" location. We had planned for 4.5 miles and ended up with approx. 2.5 miles, since we had very little idea where we were and did not want to go too far from the parking lot. Spoke with many hikers along the way and asked for directions. The uncertainty of not wanting to go too far from the car meant we did not enjoy this hike as much as we should have. If I was going again, would download the trail map (exact one we want to use) on our phone.

The loop hike around Bell Rock is fairly easy and the rewards are great ~ beautiful dessert gardens and views of the famous red rocks.

We had a lot of fun climbing up this rock and seeing the beautiful views. The trail wasn’t super clear at one point, but I think you can just make your own way up. Our 10 and 6-year-olds enjoyed it too.

This is a must stop at Sedona. The site welcomes you as you approach through Red Rock Country. Easy access. Great parking. Be sure to talk a small walk if you are not a hiker and enjoy the "vortex."

Our family of five had an awesome day on this trail. We are novice hikers and have a 15,13 and 11 year old. It was a sunny 55 degrees and I was comfortable in leggings and a thin long selves, my kids wished they wore shorts.
We got there around 8:45am and the north parking lot was just starting to fill up and traffic was starting to get heavy. We started on the trail and it was easy enough to follow, however once we started the ascend the trail started to wrap around and we could not find where exactly we were suppose to go. Many others were traversing their own paths all along the front of the formation so we decided to head back that way.
We were able to find easy enough paths up and still feel safe. We got a little more than halfway and then decided to stop because it became too steep for our comfort. Going up probably would not have been to bad, but coming down looked sketchy.
Overall it was a perfect experience for our group with many photo opts. I am very scared of heights and did just fine. Once at the bottom we decided to hike Baby Bell just off to the left of Bell Rock. This was VERY manageable, and we were able to make it to the top of this formation!

we stopped here on the way into Sedona. It is right off the road and one of the more scenic spots. Easy walking, great for photos.

We loved waking up from our B&B and seeing this each morning from our window and watching the colors at Sunset!

I really loved this trail; it wasn't easy, but it wasn't overwhelming either. There's a point where the trail ends and you can sort of just climb as high as you feel comfortable, and we went a good way up. I would recommend that if you're able to do it; the views were incredible in those parts. I would also go earlier, because it gets hot, and that tiny parking lot fills up. We got there at 7am, and there were only 4 spots left. That said, I have a feeling a lot of people don't make it very far and leave after a few minutes, so you might get lucky.

This review is for Bell Rock PATHWAY, not the LOOP.
Pros:
-wide, easy, flat path (We hiked it in the pouring rain and it was still easy to do)
-well-marked trail
-great views of the Bell Rock
Con:
-it runs parallel to a major highway and you can hear loud traffic noises the entire time which is NOT what you want in a peaceful nature hike. The LOOP trail might be better since it's further from the road but note that others have indicated that the Loop's trail is not well marked (that's why we decided on the PATHWAY, especially since it was raining).

Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte are spectacular views and hiking opportunities....however, there are many intersecting trails and none of the maps on the trail show "you are here". According to the visitor center they are in the process of fixing that. Even frequent visitors to these trails get lost. We were first timers and definitely got lost. You will find your way out...but you may hike much longer than planned. Bring PLENTY of water for that reason. Also, there is more than one parking lot...many on the trail, including us, were unsure which trail led to the lot they parked in...bad signage! Beautiful scenery, flowers in bloom when we were there 22-29 May. Great maps and great advice at the Visitors Center...go there before deciding on where to hike. Bring lots of water with you!!!

We just sat there and took it all in ,it is such a special place you can feel the ageless energy it emits

Go early. Parking spots fill fast and the light in early morning adds to the atmosphere. If you have NPS annual or lifetime pass you can use it for parking. If feeling especially motivated, you can hike to the top of Bell Rock. Alternatively, you can have a really fun time just playing around the red rocks and hiking the trails toward Courthouse Butte and Baby Bell. Or, just hang out on the rocks, feel the energy from the vortex, and enjoy!

This gorgeous rock formation was very close to our hotel, so we walked here early one morning, and strolled around the area between this Rock and the Courthouse Butte. It is one of the more popular trails, so even early on, the parking lot was getting full, and we knew it would be a challenge to find a spot.
On another day, we pulled into that parking lot in the afternoon, walked around a little bit on the easy path and took tons of photos. We would certainly have loved to do the Hike to the top, as well as the Climb, but as a tourist, there is only so much time.
At Sunset, it was glowing gold and red, and was really breathtaking. There is no bad angle to the beauty of Bell Rock. It is no wonder that a photo of this rock is used in the picture postcards, and in all advertisements of the city of Sedona.

Hiked around courthouse rock and then went up most the way up Bell Rock. What a fun adventure and interesting route. Not sure about the vortex but the scenery was great.

My wife and I hiked Bell Rock on 1/30. We were able to get up to a certain level and follow a foot path completely around the rock. What a great feeling of accomplishment. Hike wasn't necessarily taxing but there were a couple icy spots early that really kept our heads in the game. At one point we had to climb through a crack between the rocks that opened us up to the sunny side. The views were breathtaking.

You know your getting closer to heaven's gate when you see Bell Rock as you drive north towards Sedona. Take the time to hike the rock and surounding area, so beautiful!

Great experience hiking the Bell Rock Loop Trail in the early morning not long past sunrise. Stunning views especially when I made it around to the east and south facing side of the rock glowing in the early morning sun. I added the southern portion of the Courthouse Butte Trail for some additional great views. Easy hike with very little elevation change. Spent around 90 minutes stopping often for photos. Early morning weekday in late October and at times I felt like I was the only one out on the trail. Western portion of the trail is less enjoyable as you near the traffic noise from SR 179.

We are not big time hikers - in our 50s in fair shape. We went at sunrise. So there is loop around Courthouse Butte - Bell Rock. Off this, there is a spur, kinda poorly marked, to head towards the Baby Bell - the rock isn't large like the other two, but gives a good view. As you take this spur, Big Bell will be behind you on the left, Courthouse behind you on the right. You'll reach the loop around Baby Bell. We went left. As you work your way around, when you get around 3/4 away around the loop (which would be about the 3 o'clock position as if you were at the beginning of the loop as you looked at it to start), there are a few ways to scramble up to a flat level. From there, we dropped the pack, went to the right on this plateau, and found a way to climb to the summit. Not nearly as high as even the lower level of Big Bell, but something to say you summited!

Multiple trails available for a variety of abilities permits you to go as far as you want. Stop and take in the view, after all that’s why you are in Sedona

Great place to visit and hike... if you can find a parking spot. I think there is a shuttle too, but never saw it in the 3 days we were there.

Go early since there isn’t much shade.
The walk, just up to the Bell and back to parking lot, is about a mile or so.
But to do a loop..you have to go from Bell Rock Pathway to Rector Connector..about 3 or so miles total..and then connect again to Bell Rock Pathway.
Even an app, some nearby hiker used, wasn’t clear on the connection to make the loop..but we asked a local.

nice hike but you may want to go with the expectation that you will not make it to the top, especially if you are with kids.

Beautiful experience visiting Bell Rock & Courthouse Loop. Parking is limited so we parked at the Next closest parking lot, approx .6 miles away. Once on the path for the loop we ended up not doing the loop and did the climb. The pictures turned out great.

This is a pretty easy hike. When you reach the top you can enjoy a snack and take in all the beautiful views Sedona has to offer. Lots of friendly families were there too to have fun. This is one hike i can handle LOL! GO and enjoy!!

Enjoyed this hike but the trail markings are a bit confusing. We ended up doing a much longer hike than intended due to the lack of signage. Its no doubt beautiful but plan ahead.

We had a couple hours to hike in Sedona as we made our way from Williams to Phoenix. Several travel groups recommended doing Bell Rock and it was a fantastic suggestion. We really enjoyed climbing/hiking up the summit and our four year old was able to as well. The views were stunning and it ended up being a highlight of our whole trip.

We stopped and intended on walking the trail, but it had been hot that day and this was our last stop of the day. We started out on the trail which wasn’t hard, but be sure to wear good hiking shoes because you’ll be walking up several boulders and rocks. Sadly we didn’t make it far. The heat was a lot for us that day and we were low on water and snacks, but for what we did see definitely worth the stop. Beautiful place.

We have returned to Sedona 5 times now and just love the climb up Bell Rock! Beautiful and well maintained! Great place for photos!

This is a fun little hike. You can make it as challenging as you want, with some rock scrambling or just a casual stroll. Parking is challenging if you don’t arrive early. We were lucky and got a spot around 9am on a weekday but there weren’t many after that.

We were lodging in Oak Creek so we parked off of the 179 just outside the Village of Oak Creek. There's additional parking farther up the road, but you'll be hiking from a different direction. We left the parking and followed the main trail toward the formation. When we reached the crossroads, a friendly trail volunteer suggested we follow the route for the Rector Connector. That put us hiking between Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte. You could do the circle around the Courthouse but your hike will likely be twice as long. Trail is easy to follow and takes you to a Vortex. You can also scramble up the Rock. This is very popular among the younger set. Trail can let out at the second parking if you chose to car pool. Otherwise, follow the Pathway back to where you started from. When parking you should show a pass or payment stub.

Coordinate the time of day you do this hike with which direction the sun is shining so you're not in a shadow for best photos and vistas. You can do this hike early and still get in others in the same day, that are in the same area of Sedona :)

We drove by this gorgeous red rock everyday back and forth to our Hilton Hotel. One day we will go back and hike it. We saw alot of hikers on it.

We hit Bell Rock after walking around the Courthouse. When on the other side of the courthouse, and about half way past Bell Rock, we found the trail that cut back a bit and allowed access to Bell Rock itself. Many, many people sitting on the first two ledges enjoying the day. Very easy trail. It turns into a moderate once you begin to climb up the rock. Well worth the trip. Not to far from town. Parking is a problem. Get there early or later in the day.

Get to the parking lot early- there is a parking fee. The trail is well marked and will lead you up as high as you want to go. Note the higher you go the fewer the trail markings. Take water with you.

Outstanding scenery and natural beauty. Highly endorse visiting here. Unlike any other place - truly a gem!

Loved our hike on Bell Rock. It was a very relaxing time on the hike. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

My kids (ages 11 and 8) hiked with me up most of this during sunset. We nearly missed the place to start heading up as the signage does not say "Bell Rock" and it appears there are multiple ways up and down this trail. My daughter said, "God is speaking!" as the sun hit the red canyon and I could understand why when I stopped to look. It's breathtaking. There's a bit of scrambling over rocks but it's not bad. I recommend it for sure. Bring lots of water, a hat, and hand sanitizer for when you need someone to take a pic of your group!

This is a nice place to hike if you just have an hour or two in the evening. The sunset was beautiful from here.

We went here as part of the scenic byway. The red rocks and formations are just amazing. The parking is a little limited, but not too bad. October is a great time to go because the heat isn’t too bad. Lots of hiking options and great access to the top.

This was one of our favorite hikes on our Sedona trip. We did the loop around Bell Rock and Courtroom Rock. It was gorgeous in the morning. It was a mostly moderate hike, with a few small climbs.

You can park & walk to this rock from 2 areas: Trailhead or pathway. You'll have to purchase a Red Rock Pass to park & hike ($5/car)...it's per car not passengers/hikers. We made that mistake on our 1st day. The rock lives up to its name with its majestic disposition. My only complaint would be there isn't a marked trail going up & no end point. Have fun exploring!

We hiked the base it was sensational. Love the vibe and ate at a great place Chocotree. Go early to avoid heat and bring water.

You don't have to hike to enjoy this location. Easy parking and walking around this area to take in the Red Bell Rock Tower and get some great pictures. Wonderful spot to explore with ease and recommend.

Sedona being famed for its red rocks, formed millions of years ago where the layers of sandstone and limestone were left from an oceans past. Its was beautiful sight to see after a fresh coat of snow. It is quite cold, but bearable. The Bell Rock Trail is one of the easiest hikes and walkways of the rest of Sedona.

The Bell can be seen from the road, but it is a good place to stop by and visit. It is free to park and walk around.

My husband and his best friend hiked to the top, my friend and I went half way due to her recent knee surgery. Gorgeous views and photo opportunities!

I was told to face Court House Rock to release and Bell Rock to fill up, a spot right in between the two, that recommendation was spot on! Stunning beauty, amazing panorama view of the whole valley, and Heavenly Healing Energy! I will definitely go again!

Amazing views. Fun hike. There are spots to stop if you need to. Take your time and bring plenty of water! You will need it!

Loved being able to climb all over. We actually got so distracted by the beauty of the large formations we ended up off trail and climbing around Bell Rock. One of our teenage sons made it pretty far up. The trail itself was easy. When you start climbing up it gets a little more precarious. There's lots of good trails around that area.

Breathtaking view of Bell Rock, City Hall (rock name), and surrounding mountain monuments. Parking was a bit crazy, but findable. Noted as a spiritual vortex. Was there? That is up to the beholder and individual. Dont expect to experience it like a slap in the face, bright neon lights, or a knife touching the toaster wires. It's more subtle.

This butte is perhaps the most beautiful one in Sedona! It is beautiful in the morning, it is beautiful in the afternoon! Parking area is spacious and when we went, parking was free. The butte has a very intense red - orange color and is very photogenic; its color contrasts with the intense blue color of the ski. It is relatively easy to climb; however, to get to the very top is quite difficult. Nevertheless, the views are very nice even if you are not able to reach the top. The trails around the bell are very nice and easy to walk, especially the Bell Rock loop.
It really looks like dinner table bell.
You may spend half day at the Bell Rock.

A fun scramble! I started out on the Bell Rock Courthouse Butte Loop Trail, a flat 4 mile hike around these rock formations. Then ended with the Bell Rock climb. Best recommendation is to arrive early to get a parking spot. I was there at 6:30am and the lot was full by 7am. Otherwise cars are circling to find someone leaving. Worth the effort to start early.

Bell Rock is world famous for it unique look and beauty. I recommend visit this spot and taking photos. There are numerous scenic parking lots to drive off the main road the have spectacular views of Bell Rock.

We stayed in Oak Creek and this series of trails is very very close by. I went back every day of our vacation for morning hikes and didn't repeat one! So many paths to explore and ability to quickly go way back into the hills, away from 179 and people. The hike around Courthouse Rock was incredible. My son and I climbed up most of Bell Rock to near the top and up a couple of the spires. Views were spectacular. Paths can be easy or more difficult depending on where you go. There's something for everyone here. Highly recommend!

A must do!!! So many hiking trails to choose from! This trail was good for all ages and the trails were flat and pretty easy. Give yourself at least 2 hours. You can get some great photos too. We loved this hike! Parking can be challenging. Opportunity to make it more adventurous by climbing sides of the rock!

This is a great place to hike and spend time at. There are a lot of great views and photo opportunities.

An absolutely stunning hike. I had had walked around Bell Rock before and wanted to try to climb up the rock skirt at least as far as my ability would take me. To my surprise the path was easy. So too was the option to climb up the rock formation themselves. It is fairly straight forward to climb up half way in just a good pair of running shoes. Next time I will sit and take in the view a lot longer.

Stop in the Village of Oak Creek and hike or bike the Bell Rock Pathway. Parking for the trail system is right off Highway 179 (there is a $10 fee). Hotels are within walking or riding distance to the trailhead. There are bike rentals available in town. The Village of Oak offers many different dining venues. For breakfast, we ate at Mimi's Cafe. Mimi's offers traditional diner-style breakfast and lunches. We also had dinner at Corner Table. Corner Table has great craft beer selections from Oak Creek Brewery and bistro cuisine.
Head up Bell Rock Pathway to experience the amazing view over West Sedona even if you don't climb to the top. If want a longer route you can access the Rector connector and double back around Bell Rock. To extend your hike even further, continue past the Rector and follow Courthouse Butte Loop Trail, it will bring you back to the parking area via the Big Park Loop. It doesn't matter which trail you take the views are always spectacular. Try to schedule your hike at either sunrise or sunset if possible; that is truly a spectacular experience.

Park at Courthouse Vista parking for this one, especially if you plan to hike up the Bell. It's WAY closer to the Bell than the parking lot marked Bell. We hiked about halfway up and then decided it was too high and scary for me, so we went back down and hiked around Courthouse loop. Very nice, fairly easy hike we did the loop backwards (keep Courthouse on your left). Pretty views, and we even saw a coyote.

Stopped with young kings and hiked a bit around it; easy and rewarding.
Tip: they accept annual National park pass for parking

Great moderate hike. A few places could get rough, but stay close to the trail and there should be no problems. The vortex is wonderful if you get a chance to sit and take it in.
Great views and photo ops all around!

We stopped here for a short hike to the base of the Bell rock from the south parking lot. The initial trail is wide and fairly flat and well maintained. But further up it is softer and less even so we saw some families with strollers that couldn't make it to the base but had to enjoy the view from afar. The trail is well marked and you can choose to do a short 1/4 mile or do as we did and finish the loop called courthouse loop. It has a mild elevation change, easy to climb and scenic all the way around. It ended up being close to 4-5 miles but we took our time (took about 3 hours) and never felt like we had bitten off more than we could manage. If you are ok with stairs, you can do this hike. It is well worth the time. Bring some water, there isn't much shade.

Great fun climbing way up the rock. Somewhat challenging, but a wide range of people made the trek. Beautiful vistas, well worth the work to get there.

Like all popular trails in Sedona, parking is in short supply and you have to pay and they could be better marked. There are some wide loops you can follow around Bell Rock and the Courthouse. If you want steep you can go up. Walk around is easy and scenic. Can walk across hwy to more trails (or vice versa). Nice area about 15 minutes west of downtown.

We rented bikes from Thunder Mountain Bikes and they were great. Then we hired Sedona Quick Rides to get us to the trailhead. Once we got to the Bell Rock Pathway trailhead, the adventure began. Three out of the four of us were first time mountain bike riders. But the trail offered a challenging but very do-able route. Everyone had an amazing time.

We hiked around the base of of Bell Rock and it offered wonderful views. The ground is easy to navigate and very family friendly. My husband wanted to climb higher on the rocks and scaled to higher views. He said he could climb higher but thought the 'coming down' part would be a bit more treacherous. We hiked this area again during a rainy/sleet day which made the rocks quite a bit more slippery. My recommendation is to watch the weather so you don't find yourself trapped on the Rock in the middle of a storm.

Easy early morning hike on first day of Sedona vacation. Path was smooth, family friendly and gorgeous. Quick and lots of awesome views.

Enjoyed our evening hike. Level trail, well marked. Watch for bikers. $5 cost to park / use trail... easy to use machine.

This has a walking trail and a climbing trail. Great views and lots of options for the level of challenge.

This was the first hike we did in Sedona. The signage leaves a lot to be desired. This is a demanding hike, and the path is not always clear and often confusing. The views from there are great. Please do not attempt in athletic shoes. You need genuine hiking boots that cover the ankles. Not for beginners.

Nice and easy hike. Definitely do it. We did the Bell rock from both sides using the main trail and another. We also went up to courthouse rock. I don't know if it real or not, but three people out of our party of five felt an up close to the rock. I wasn't one of the three, so I can't confirm. Beautiful scenery and not crowded at all (probably due to the fact it was a weekday afternoon and all the Covid stuff)

Really beautiful landscape and amazing rocks. That's worth a visit. It's not a hard hike, as long as you're sure on your feet. Our four and seven year old sons made it close to the top.

We started out for a small little morning hike and ended up almost to the top spires. A very fun climb, not too hard...beautiful October weather.

Bell Rock is one of the easier hikes in Sedona. There is parking at the base of the mountain (but not a lot) and rest rooms. The trail begins at an easy pace and increases in difficulty as you proceed. At a point, you can then choose one of three trails based on your desired level of intensity. There are spots to rest. Take plenty of water. Use a walking stick. Take a protein bar or two as well. The views are terrific.

Bell Rock has nice trails to get up close and personal with the red rocks. Several paths can lead you more adventure. Not sure of the vortex here - each person finds there own Zen. Plan for 3+ hours to fully explore. Views from all angles.

Bell Rock was the perfect choice for our first mountain climb! Easy access to the trail and you can walk up and around the rock and make the climb as long/short or easy/challenging as you want. Can't wait to visit again!

Easy hike for most of the family, amazing views, plenty of levels with a different and amazing vistas to enjoy, using the dry creek bed is usually the simplest way up to the next level.

This vortex was on my list as the least favorite and easiest and boy were we in for a treat!!! It was so beautiful full of adventure. The views all the way up we’re amazing and the rock climbing part was a little scary but something in my body filled me with joy and perseverance to get to the top. Never once did I worry about how we were going to get down. Once we were up, the views were my favorite I was in love I cried. My friend is a reiki practitioner and she blessed us and our rocks/crystals it was a beautiful experience. Going back down was a bit scary but only because we didn’t remember where we went up from but.. once you find ways you just slide down on your butt!!! Hiking shoes/socks/back pack and water a must!! Don’t forget tour crystals and safe. MUST DO VORTEX!!

This was the first hike we did as soon as we got to Sedona. Even in February parking was difficult as it is such a popular trail. Parking was $5 valid all day.
The loop trail is only about 1.5 miles round trip but does gain a few hundred feet in elevation with climbing required so wear good hiking shoes. The views were incredible and definitely worth the effort. I am by no means a hiker but really enjoyed the trail and finding ways to climb up and down the red rocks.
This was a great start to our Sedona weekend!

The rock is fun to scramble up. or do as we did walk the 2 miles around the base, Excellent views. Parking can be tough

Lovely trail near our B and B. Please go early, as you would for any desert hike. I did not hike to the top but meandered the various trails and had a lovely time. The moon happened to be present which made for a special experience.

We did this hike late morning after Devil's Bridge earlier in the day. It was easy to get parking (which can be tricky at other trails) and there are several trails to choose from depending what you are looking for. I will say we went on one trail that was not easily marked on the second half... but there were enough people in view to figure it out. Beautiful scenery, great trail, this one can be pretty flat in comparison to others in Sedona but there is little shade.

Breathtaking views, but I must say the energy here was very strong, The other vortexs were more calming for me.

This is a Beautiful place to stop. Both bike & hiking trails are available. We did both but walking with our dog. You can get better scenery on the bike trail but it's also a lot more jagged terrain & not feasible with you have mobility issues. We are TheRovingVets on youtube & have been RVing across America for a couple of years. Sedona is absolutely a must see!

Great views, good hike. Not difficult at all. Went in January on a sunny day, so temperature was great for a good hike. Nothing too steep, some muddy spots after rain the night before.

Although the parking lot was by waiting in line only, this short but steep hike is a fantastic hour spent for some Red Rock views. There are public restrooms/outhouses available but no trash service.

Nice morning hike up the rock, get there early to avoid the heat, not to crowded, beautiful views all the way around the bell, easy hike

Great view. Go early. We managed to find a peaceful spot to take in the breathtaking scenery. Expect to climb! We opted to take the shuttle, rather than trying to find parking

We thoroughly enjoyed going to Bell Rock. The red hills are just amazing and indescribable until you experience it yourself.

We easily found parking shortly before 7 AM since we wanted to beat the heat and see the rock formations in the early morning light. The parking lot requires a $5 parking fee (unless you have an annual parks pass) that you can purchase from a kiosk onsite. We walked the wide (and mostly level) Bell Rock Pathway that was mostly dirt with some rocks mixed in from the south parking lot right up to Bell Rock.

The marked trail ends fairly low on the rock so find your own and you'll get nearly to the top. We had seen people earlier high on the rock and following the signs was apparently not going to get us that high. It's really not dangerous but I'm guessing they don't promote going higher for liability reasons? A good pair of boots would be a good idea and well worth the couple of hours to get up and back..

We were here in the late summer of 2023, for the second time.
From Canyon Villa Bed and Breakfast Inn of Sedona, where we stayed, you can walk. A nice, free trail where you can walk along comfortably.
We didn't go up or around Bell Rock, just back and forth. Also recommended for small walks. On the way we had the beautiful Bell Rock on camera. In the morning the light was perfect for photos. We also saw smaller animals such as birds, insects and lizards, as well as cacti and lots of red soil (better not white shoes!).
There is no food on the way, so water and possibly something to eat as well as sun milk, headgear and sunglasses with you, it can get hot.
We always like to come here!

This is an easy walk to the vortex and is a place for great pictures of all the surrounding rock formations!

Easy trails but have the option to make it mod/advance hike/climb. Would recommend for first timers

Beautiful spot and you can definitely feel a positive energy here. You can take an easy walk or take the walk that goes up Bell Rock. Your choice. We watched eagles fly over head and took in the serenity. Everyone we passed was friendly and enjoying the surrounds.

This is a lovely, not too difficult hike in Sedona. The rock formations are exceptional and the views amazing.

We hiked the trail near Bell Rock and enjoyed a peaceful commune with nature. The trail was not strenuous at all and offers a chance to see Bell Rock much closer than just driving by it.

Excellent walk You can go a short distance and get a picture perfect view or hike up to and on the rock. Take water if you hike. It’s very hot and not shady.

This is a must see during your visit to Sedona. You can walk to the bottom, or hike partway, or hike the whole trail. The trail isn't marked as well as you get further up, and I ended up actually going beyond the trail accidentally. This wasn't a great idea for me as I got myself in a bit of a bind, but luckily a kind stranger helped me get down! The views are amazing and there's some great spots to set up a tripod. I came in the evening as the sun was setting which made for some great lighting changes throughout my hike.

My wife and I were in Sedona for our Babymoon. We were looking for a trail that would be okay for my wife who is 30 weeks pregnant and the Bell Rock trail was perfect. There was some slight elevation change, but there's plenty of places to stop and take a break along the way.
On of my favorite things about Bell Rock is that the hike can be as difficult or as easy as you'd like. You can venture up Bell Rock and take in some amazing views if you're daring enough, or you can take it easy and hike to Courthouse Vista.

This is such a great hike. You can go quite a ways up, but you need climbing gear to get to the very top. The views are gorgeous with red rock all around and the town of Sedona. Do not miss out on this hike, it’s great.

We couldn't park in this site. But when you get up close, it looks like a big rock. So we drove farther down 179 to a vista for this site and took a picture in which it looks like a bell. If their was anything else besides a picture, we missed it.

The trail we took was approx 4 miles round trip. The path is easy with beauty at every turn. The trail is accessible from two parking lots ( one on southern end the other northern end) off of 179 N. The weather was perfect. The trail can be busy and one can ride a bike on the trail and dogs on leash are allowed.

We did the shorter loop as this was done after our morning Pink Jeep 4x4 tour. The parking is all by luck. We found a spot without problems in the lot; there were other open spots as well.
This is a good trail for anyone. It's fairly flat. It definitely looks like a "bell" from one angle over another. A lot of people with family and dogs enjoy the trail. As with all hiking, be sensible and wear appropriate hiking shoes.
We combined this with the trail to Courthouse Butte.

Due to the weather it was not possible to hike. But even from the car the skirt was impressive from near and far. Next time also more time planned for Sedona to explore everything.

Gorgeous views. Good active climb. I went near the top and just sat down and soaked in the views. It was spiritual.

Bell Rock...yes it looks like a bell but the colors, landscape and height make this a great place to start your Sedona climbing routine....
We stopped at Bell Rock and paid for our parking. Parking can be difficult since Bell Rock is one of the more popular mountains to climb in the area. We followed the trail and maneuvered between rocks, over boulders, around scrub brush to a point where it was getting harder and harder to find an easy way to ascend the mountain.
My wife made it about a third of the way up before stopping but said it was ok for me to go on....I went up about two thirds of the way with a couple we met from Pennsylvania...The three of us got as high as we felt safe at then took some selfies and slowly headed back down...
Bell Rock is a great experience for any climber, especially those of us who may be rookies but still want something to talk about and remember when we get back home....

We couldn't get near Cathedral Rock, so we tried Bell Rock. Ditto -- packed by late morning. Could not stay.

Fantastic hiking experience, all skill levels can find the trails that fit there skill level from beginner to advanced it’s all good. Might want to go early as the parking fills quickly and the trails get very crowded!

incredible to see what mother nature has created...incredible
some great hiking/biking/jeeping trails all around

Honestly, this was one of the most profound experiences of my life.
Even though I was on a little tour bus and we only had limited time here.
I have ADHD, ( yes guys it IS a real thing, read all my reviews and you can see it in action😜) excessive racing thoughts and when in a tricky time it gets even worse. Now I sh*t you not, staring up at bell Canyon - my thoughts literally just stopped. And this wave of Peace enveloped me. It was a profound experience almost like someone had taken my thoughts away and replaced them with grace and calm. I had the most wonderful tour guide and Co tour guests who allowed me to stay a little bit longer as they could see I was deeply affected.
As the tour bus pulled away and we went on a journey the thoughts gradually returned, but I will never ever forget this profound experience and talk about it to everybody... I can't wait to return someday...
❤️

Spectacular hiking around and on Bell Rock. We challenged ourselves to see how far we dared to go up. Considering we were not climbers and only had tennis shoes and no real equipment, we were pretty proud of ourselves. It was fun. I'd do this over Pink Jeep any day of the week....but to be fair its a different style of activity. Try it...you'll have a lot of fun navigating upwards.

It’s a gorgeous place, where you can hike, meditate, think, see sunset ( to see how sun touches the rock changing colors and then disappears, not actual sunset). Very spiritual !

Parking was conveniently located and centered down from trailhead. Multi- leveled climbing for all ages and types!
Hikers and cyclists.
I was surprised at the dogs I saw there; some owners seemed nervous of had brought them up the trail.
By looking at how people were hiking - it seemed one side of the rock was an easier climb than the other side… All the sudden it went from a nice gravel trail to an incline - It was short lived and not too difficult.
We went up for a while longer, decided we hiked about 85%, found a spot and had our breakfast bars and orange juice.
Looking up the trail, the hike seemed impossible… but slowly not.
Climbing down was easier than I expected. I crab walked most of the time down.
I would recommend visiting this place – it is located close to town and near many other landmarks.
About a 1-2 hour event.

Absolutely awesome hiking and views! One of the very best and most scenic hikes we have ever had. Highly recommended!!

I love Sedona, we have done this trail before, but this incident left me sick and it haunted me for days. We went early at 7:30 and started to hike the loop trail midway up the rock. My husband ran back to use the restroom. My son (17) and I kept going and got to the other side of the rock, I said lets wait here for dad. He stepped up against the rock wall, I stayed out in the sun, it was chilly. I told him to watch for snakes, there was some brush where he was. He was looking down, looked up, and yelled taking 2 leaping steps, just in time to miss a rock the size of a cinder block break off the wall about 30 feet above his head! It landed exactly where he was! Another man and his daughter witnessed this yelled. He heard it crack above his head and looked up in time to see it start to fall. It all happened so fast and I was in shock, it really could have landed on his head. After the shock wore off I cried, knowing what could have happened. My husband caught up with us, wondering why there were tears, and I felt betrayed by the rock ( I know it sounds silly, but I love Sedona and it was so upsetting). I needed off that rock now! My poor son shook it off pretty well, I woke up the next day thinking it could be a totally different day. I know, rocks fall, this is a risk we take hiking these rock formations. If I was next to him I would not have moved that fast. I am not exaggerating. That huge wall, and right where he was a rock broke off and fell. He said if he had earbuds in he wouldn't have heard the crack. Please pay attention to your surroundings, be cautious. Thank God it wasn't a different outcome.

Sedona was ABSOLUTELY BEAUUUUTIFUL!!!!😎😎😎😎
I could have easily stayed for several days! There is just so much to do!! We managed to get in 1 hike up to Bell Rock, which was a great & challenging hike!! It’s only $5 to park! Pkg lot fills up early!!

We were lucky to land a parking spot. We chose to do the climb over the pathway and the view was great. Getting up and down was tricky at times however we watched others paths and followed some of their leads.

Get out more. Such a beautiful place to get out and see. We loved every minute of our trip. Red rock state park was fun and educational.
Saw lots of animals on our hike.

Beautiful mountain with different trails. We tried to climb the bell mountain but couldn’t get past one section. Others did though and made it to the top!

Its easy to get to and the trail is not hard. The views are very good so its hard to get a bad photo. If in Sedona you have to do it.

Based on other reviews, we arrived earlyish to the trailhead. We got there at 8:30 am and got the last parking spot. By the time we were leaving, there were people parking where they were not supposed to and dozens of cars circling for a spot. Best to go early.
My husband and I are experienced hikers so we didn't think we would have any issues with these trails. The hike itself was pretty easy. There were some moderate spots where we had to work a bit harder but overall it was a very enjoyable hike.
The most irritating part was the signage. I don't know who designed the trails but some improvements need to be made. First, name the trails using names that are easily differentiated. When you are walking and unfamiliar with the trails, the names sound a lot the same and results in confusion. Second, color-code the trails. We were walking and one minute were on one trail and a few minutes later were on another. Our 3ish mile hike turned into almost 7 because we ended up on so many different side trails. Luckily, it was a nice day and we enjoyed the walk. But if it had been 100 degrees, I would have been a lot less pleased.
Overall, this was a pretty pleasant hike. The signage issues could be fixed which would result in a better experience. Use the AllTrails app to avoid getting on the wrong trails.

Gorgeous hike. We hiked around Court House Butte and Bell Rock. We went at sunrise to get a parking spot and avoid the crowds. An added benefit of going early was that half of the hike was in the shade.

This was really cool to see. We were able to find parking right away, you can use your Annual NPS pass or pay for a parking pass for like $5. If it wasn't so hot, we would have been able to do more walking. My mom and I could only go so far before we had to turn around. Do not wear flip flops or even open toe Teva type walking sandals- wear tennis or hiking shoes. Felt pretty peaceful here and will return during a cooler month.

Great walking trail to the rock. Easy and also good for pets. Parking was also available in many areas. Great spot to see other rock formations.

We had an eclectic group of friends from the ‘I’m just going to sit back and drink my cooler of beers’ to the adventurous type like myself and the hiking novices. This was a great spot for us overall (I guess I can’t speak for the guy drinking his beers because he would have been happy to do that back at the Vrbo). Those who were less adventurous were happy to hike a bit up then stay low, the rest of us kept an eye out on them (so they didn’t roll off the mountain) as we climbed our way up. Keep in mind there is a specific way to get to the very top, it took us a while to figure that out once we ran into more experienced hikers. I wish I had known that sooner because I would have liked to have made it up there.
We were some of the first ones a bell rock since we wanted to catch the sunrise, but when we left for lunch there was a line of cars waiting to catch any parking spot. We told the guy who wanted our spot it would take us about 10 minutes before we drove off and he was happy to wait, so the parking lot gets FULL.
Very happy with the hike, the trails and the level of difficulty to easy here. I would say wear shoes that have good grip because of the loose Sandy/rock- I slipped twice on my bum- but at the same time I ran into a guy wearing socks and puma slides and he made it up top before I did so... ¯\_(-_-)_/¯

Loved this hike! Absolutely breathtaking. Plenty of room to move and will satisfy every level of hiker. Highly recommend!

Beautiful scenic walking trail with views of Bell Rock and the surrounding mountains! It was easy to park and was close to our hotel.

Had a great hike. There is a nice bench under a tree to sit at if you get tired walking. Lots of people socially distanced.

Our family hiked around the base of Bell Rock and it was a great easy hike! Definitely recommend for a family with kids and grandparents.

My friend and I kept passing by Bell Rock on our way to other hikes from our airbnb, so of course we had to do it. Even though we were there in November, it still got warm pretty quickly, so definitely keep that in mind considering that you're out in the open for the most part of your hike depending on the time of day you're there.
We got there around 8am and we had to park in a lot across the street further away, since the parking lot closest to it was already completely full. You can do as much or as little of the hike as you feel comfortable, but no worries because the views are gorgeous regardless. I definitely recommend wearing proper shoes with good grip, because the higher you climb, the steeper and more slippery the hike is. I didn't go all the way up as I'm scared of heights, but my friend did and said it was challenging (in a good way) and totally worth it.
I've seen people of all ages and physical ability there, so just know know your strength and enjoy yourself!

Our second time to Sedona and we love love Bell rock .. you don't have to be a serious climber to see some awesome sites! we are regulars now from Phoenix .. and it feels worlds away.. we did climb all the way but it scenic from every level!

Highly recommend this hike. Can take a leisurely stroll or a challenging hike. Worth the challenge of climbing up on to Bell Rock for the views

We hiked around the base of bell rock last week. The south side of the loop trail had a strong energy. highly recommend and so easy!

This is a spectacular site not to be missed - from any angle. Hikes and trails go on most sides of this rock so you can view with a different perspective.

So amazing to see sunset from Bell Rock. Better yet, if you can be there for a full moon as we were.
If you are in to taking photos, this is the location and time to do it!

This is a great hike especially early morning or late evening. It is relatively flat and there are a lot of crossing trails so you can go as long or as short as you want. Just follow the signs as it is well marked.

We had a fabulous hike in the lowlands between Bell Rock and Baby Bell Rock ... stellar views of Cathedral Rock!

Get there early as parking is limited.Good bet when going South on 179 Park at the Yavampi scenic view area. It is only about a quarter mile walk along 179 to get to trails leading up Bells Rock. Great views and interesting topography.

This was definitely one of my Sedona highlights. It can be more of a mental challenge than a physical challenge, for some. There were two main places where one has to scramble up crevasses to reach the top. Definitely for those who are in decent physical condition, as you need good leg strength to pull yourself up through these two parts, or at least have another that can offer a lift. It’s definitely worth the scenic reward. Highly recommend a guide to reach the top to do safely. My 12 yr old and my 50 yr old body did very well with guide of someone we found on Facebook. He was wonderful.

Parking was quite crowded and you have to have a parking permit. Law enforcement was there giving tickets to those without a permit.
Hike up the the lower levels of Bell Rock was fairly easy. The scenery even from that level is spectacular and the energies are very strong.
Lot of families with young kids and dogs made there way up the rock so the hike can be done by all levels.

This was a beautiful hike, perfect for us. A hiker can make it longer or shorter depending on the route taken. We hiked 5 miles, taking the Courthouse Butte Loop. There were many (hikers and mountain bikers) enjoying the trails initially, however, once we got past eastern side, we pretty much owned the trail. Everyone kept a great social distance.

There was a fairly easy hike from the Bell Rock trailhead in between Bell Rock and the courthouse formation, completely around the rock itself which gave wonderful views and a nice way to stretch our legs and enjoy the setting.

Bell Rock is at th southern end of the Red Rock country and quite interestin, even in the snow and rain. It is a great walk around the rcok.

Beautiful hike up the Big Bell. Bring water and light snack as there is not much shade. My only glitch was that the trail was hard to read the higher you got up. I was also solo so I wasn't able to get up but to a certain point (maybe 3/4 of the way up or so up before hiking back down). Saw some great views and got some beautiful photos. Would love to go back.

I'm a beginner hiker and I was able to get up pretty far and down by myself. A few spots were a little steep but people were up there with their dogs! Crazy! Brave pups! make sure you wear shoes with soles made for hiking.

Bell Rock is a beautiful scenic place to view from a distance or up close
Parking lot is just off main road
I hiked bell Rock and mountain bikes it
Hike is a moderate gradual incline with easy trails at the beginning and then a steep incline if you want to hike up to get great views from close to the top
Mountain biking was more difficult
With dips rocks turns and inclines
Both were worth the views
Beautiful place
Highly recommended

We went early in the day to avoid the heat and LOVED the hike around the Bell and Courthouse rocks! Took WAY too many pictures, but spent even more time just using the old Mod 0 eyeball to really take it all in! For those who wonder, it is a fairly easy hike to do (unless you want to ascend the Bell) and for that aspect of it, I have no idea. I was very content to just complete the loop trail.

This is a very good trail for anyone. It's relatively flat and you can just do the smaller loop. You will already see the Bell Rock up close and personal along with Congress. The only downside is that the parking lot is small. So it can be full depending on the time you get there. The good news is, there are people who do not stay long so you might get lucky and snag a spot that someone just vacated. Get there early especially during peak season. Also, mind the weather for the day. It can get hot.....

It took us three tries to find a parking lot that wasn’t full, but I’m glad we stuck with it. We didn’t have a lot of time once we actually started, so we only walked about a mile down the path before turning around. We were breathing hard at one part going up, but it was a pretty easy trail (at least the part we did). The scenery was gorgeous.

We didn't go up Bell rock but did the Courthouse Butte/Bell Rock loop. It’s an easy hike, 5/6km, with a path with little elevation gain. Of course, you must bring water, a hat and be properly shod. Very beautiful landscapes!

This trail is super accessible from the main highway and an easy trek even for non-hikers. Really more of a walk than a hike, and the views are incredible

Bell Rock and Courthouse Rock are very close to each other. Both are beautiful. I didn't feel any vortex energy but still ejoyed the scenery.

what a great hike!
We chose to hike the loop which took about 2 hours. It was the end of October and it was toasty.
We climbed a red rock ...walked around Bell Rock and sat and had a snack. Meditated and just took it all in.
Very nice ...must do

Definite go to for a hike- get there early as there is limited parking. Some of the areas around the hike can be a little daunting to get up, but just look for different access points that are easier. All in all a great hike with amazing views. Just south of downtown Sedona.

Wonderful hike, but it's hard to find a bad hike in Sedona!
I recommend the full loop, but make sure you take plenty of water.

I love visiting this beautiful dome of red rock. It’s best to arrive in the morning when the sun is shining on the rock & approach it from the car park closest to Oak Creek as the energy is stronger here.

This multi step Butte is an interesting hike. part of the sometomes rugged landscape around sedona. at least one major "vortex" here.

We got to the trailhead at 6 am- show up at sunrise if you want a parking spot - by 9 am it will be full. You should take water and a snack - we also took poles, which steadied us on the way down. It is somewhat difficult to find the trail markers to get up to the ledges, but there are generally plenty of friendly hikers to point you in the right direction. Great views from about half way up - worth the effort.

This is a great trail for the most eager of hikers. We loved being here on this gorgeous day! Lots of parking an local vendors to sell hats and such.

Definitely recommend to enjoy the stunning view of the surrouding area by walking up the bell rock vista. Also recommend the Courthouse Butt loop to enjoy the view drom different viewpoint.

Absolutely the most breathtaking view to drive up to and then explore. An absolute must in a lifetime. My teens and I were driving in from Phoenix and our breath was taken away as we approached.

Perfect place for a short hike or an easy walk around the rock. The views are great. Parking accessible, but go early to find a spot

This is a great walk for families and older people who do not want to have steep climbs or lots of elevation changes and the view is stunning.

Gorgeous views. Bell Rock Climb was the highlight of our vacation! You need a parking pass, but you can purchase in the parking lot.

Grand kids did this one and loved it. It was too difficult for me to do but the views of them hiking up the side were awesome. This was one of their favorite hikes

Great place to hike and relax! I love the beautiful rock formation as well as all of the trails. The sunsets are amazing too!

Nice easy trails which were nice after the more aggressive trails done the day before. Lots of options on trails to take and everything was very well marked.

Nice hike for an early morning. You have a little incline in spots but for the most part a nice way to get up close tp bell Rock.

Driving toward Sedona on Hwy 179; this is one of the first Scenic Viewpoints outside Oak Creek. We loved it so much, we stopped again on the way back to Phoenix. Beautiful colors that vary as the Sun moves across the sky.

If you are in the area it is a good trail. Obviously, take plenty of water. I would highly recommend leaving area asap and heading to Colorado for better trails. Not of fan of this area. Spent 3 days here and it felt like a week.

We saw this from so many places and angles , it became an old friend, once again. The only problem with Sedona is the endless development which has marred the natural beauty along with the greenery increasingly creeping up the sides of the rocks obscuring the red rock face, sometimes almost completely smothering it. If these phenomena continue, what will will be the reason to visit Sedona? It should have been made a national park, at the least a state park to prevent it from becoming despoiled like another Niagara Falls.Oh well, too late.

This is the first thing you will see as approaching Sedona from i79 and oak creek village. Very impressive. There are 2 options here which is to do loop on bottom which can get boring and too easy or do the climb to the top of the vortex. I recommend the latter. If you only want to do the climb park at the second parking lots closer to Sedona rather than the one near Oak Creek Village. This will save you some time walking to the start of the climb. I believe it's called the Courthouse Parking lot.
We hit there trying to get the sunset but arrived too late to enjoy it completely. We got to as far as we could which was like 3/4 up as it was starting to get dark at 4:50pm and we didn't want to climb down slick unmarked rock when dark. We did have flashlights and did have a warmer jacket as it does get cold as soon as the sun sets in the winter. So we got 3/4 up and sat and watched sunset.
Bit of a scramble to find parking but just wait and someone will come out. Most people just stroll for 40 mins and then leave and don't really climb up that much.
In my past visits to Sedona, i rented mountain bikes to do ride around Bell rock. This i recommend if you are comfortable on uneven off road trails. It's better than walking the loop as it gets hot and bit boring. Biking makes it exciting too.
This stop to Bell Rock is great for you first hikes/glimpse of what Sedona has to offer. Its rated easy. The climb bit more more not much more difficult unless you aim for the peak.

This is a super easy place to access-and a very unique piece of the red rocks of Sedona. The shape and location are centering to all the other unique shaped locations. I'd like to walk it-but So many people out there--it was worth the quick drive by and lookout.

Bell Rock is just not another hike, it's a special place filled with wonderful spiritual energy. Visit Bell Rock and listen to what he has to say to you.

I suggest going early to catch the pre-sunrise light & to avoid the crowds. The parking it was filling up as we left around 7:00. The path is nice; not too rocky and not too steep. Lots of choices to extend your hike.

This is a great place to hike and take pictures. The trails here at very well kept and easy to traverse. Plus the scenery is outstanding. I feel like I'm in an old Western film.

So much to see in Sedona. This is a beautiful place, take your time and enjoy! Easier to park when you get there early.

Bell rock is wonderful. We didn't even make it to the top but was amazing! Don't forget your hat and sunscreen.

We love to hike Bell Rock. It has so many breathtaking views. You can go around the loop or up as high as you can go. It is slippery in some spots because it is well traveled. Get there early for a parking spot. Hike and find a spot to sit and relax soaking in the red rocks! See if you can feel the energy of the vortex.

Had some family in town so we got up early to get a parking spot, glad we did,the lot fills up fast, take plenty of water!

These mountains are amazing! So beautiful and well worth seeing! There is so much to take in around this area that you need to take your time and pull off on the scenic pull offs to see the views. It is so beautiful!

Breathtaking views and easy to climb. Passed alot of friendly people along the way. Shady & breezy. Easy access if you are staying at the Canyon Villa Bed & Breakfast.

Easy walk around the entire base with beautiful views. We weren't expecting to go around the whole thing, but we just didn't want to stop!

Very easy hike for the young and old! Definitely recommend going early in the morning before the heat. Terrific photos, too!

It's a majestic Vortex, although it's hard to get to unless you rent a car because it's just south of the centre of Sedona.
The trail is also moderately long, longer than Airport Mesa and feels shorter than Cathedral Rock.
If you have a rental car, it is definitely worth a visit.

I walked the Bell Rock loop, and it is a very nice walk, with the well marked paths. Overrun with people though, made the walk not quiet.

We thought we would just walk the path around the perimeter of bell rock but we ended up climbing to the top. The views were amazing and although it was crowded, everyone was well-behaved and even friendly. Well worth the climb. But get there early, the crowds fill the parking lot.

We combined parts of the Bell Rock Loop, The Middle, the Courthouse Butte loop and The Big Loop trail for a very enjoyable easy hike. The area between Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte had beautiful vistas. We saw quail and rabbits when we started our hike. The trails are marked fairly well by rocks in wire although a few times it was difficult to see where to hike. This area was not nearly as crowded as the area with Devil’s Bridge and there’s much more room to spread out.

This was my 1st hike in sedona in early April. There was adequate parking but I got there around 6pm. You can ride bikes through here to a certain pt. I almost went to top of bell Rock but it got dark, so I didn't want to risk. The views with the sunset is stunning. There are no guard rails , so it can be a little dangerous when you get half way up but I did ok and are 50. I only did this hike and devils bridge.

Hiked around courthouse and bell rock. Great hiking for people who don't hike a lot, great views. Only issue can be parking, so get there early.

This is a beautiful red rock formation visible from many locations in Sedona. It is really scenic. You can hike around it. Parking for a fee but you can use Federal National Park passes etc.

Nice first day experience. Our hotel wasn’t ready so we did an afternoon hike. One need not go up too high to get great photos. About an hour walking around was enough,,,, path was clearly marked,,,not sure what people feel with a vortex,,,, we felt nothing,,, but it was a beautiful view and we took some fun videos to send to family and friends. Parking is at the base,,, pays either $5 or get a red rock pass for the week for $15.

This is an excellent trail system to and around Bell Rock and a multitude of other formations that make you want to stop and admire them. I observed very little elevation gain while in transit to Bell Rock so it should be appropriate for just about all ages. There are mountain bikes on the trails so be aware because they don't seem to have the courtesy of announcing themselves verbally or otherwise (i.e. On your left.). If you plan to scramble up Bell Rock understand that there are no steps or signage to show you the way. The North route up and down the smooth area (water pours down it when raining) is the one my wife and I chose to do. Worked out great but there are hazards to take into consideration. One must be ready for some rock fall from above as this is an incredibly popular route and not everyone is competent. My advice is to go as early as you can and maybe even wear a helmet. Take plenty of water! walking sticks, big hats, large backpacks etc. all have to be left at the section just before it gets steep (45 deg +) It is a moderate scramble up through cracks and ledges. Balance and physical fitness are critical. For those new to it all, your confidence will grow as you ascend. The trick is to stay within your level of competence. Good questions to ask yourself is: am I having fun doing this? Am I doing this safely? I went up through a chimney that delivered me just below one of the pinnacles and close to the main summit area (there is a summit register there). Moving over to the other pinnacles was fun and exposed. We spent about an hour up there then made a steep but comfortable downclimb back to the trail. We parked at the Bell Rock Trailhead area just N of the Village of Oak Creek. There is an access fee of $5.00. My wife and I have been climbing for about 30 yrs and this scramble challenged us nicely. Do some research, take plenty of water, have fun and be safe!

We had a great time scrambling up and down bell rock. Not easy for everyone. Wear grippy shoes and keep your hands free to aid with climbing. There are lots of ways to the top so be flexible on how you get there.

I saw it from Route 179 and from the observation deck at Holy Cross Church.
As its name suggests, it has a distinctive shape so it was easy to spot even for first-time visitors.
It is one of the four major vortexes and is said to have a strong masculine character, but unfortunately I was not able to sense anything, perhaps because I am a woman.

Bell Rock was the first time I have ever hiked and what fun it was! If you are a novice to hiking, this is the one for you. Take it easy, be adventurous and get out of your comfort zone and you will not be disappointed by the views and memories.

Gorgeous views which are usually better early or late afternoon for the best light. Start with a photo of the map of the trails - choose how far you want to go. Be sure to have plenty of water, sunscreen, hat, snacks and camera! There are parking lots on either side and you can walk completely around or choose a shorter route.

This was my favorite place. I didnt want to leave. Energy is amazing here. So peaceful and calm. Other hikers are so nice and helpful.

Absolutely gorgeous!!! You have to stop in the lot to take a pic. Driving by doesn't do it justice. If you roll through you don't have to pay but it might be worth it if you're going to the other places. It's good for all of them for 7 days

The scenery around Bell Rock is beautiful. The scenery from Bell Rock is breathtaking. It can be difficult to find parking, but there are several trailheads that offer access. Get there early to have a good chance to park.

Can climb almost to the top. Not too hard. Will get great photos on the way. Need a park pass ( $5) can be purchased at the base of the Bell mountain on the parking lot.

We had an 11am tee time and wanted to get in a hike and breakfast beforehand, so set out at 630am to hike Bell Rock, which was near our hotel (the Bell Rock Inn). We got the last parking spot, and were able to get about 2/3 of the way up. The views of the valley were breathtaking, such a beautiful way to start the day!

The hike around Bell Rock would best be experienced by hiring an experienced guide. The trails are well marked only near the start of the trail, but it is very easy to get lost. Take PLENTY of water, as it is very hot as the sun bakes the red rocks.

Hearing so much about Sedona's outdoor stuffs to do, areas to relax by the water, we just had to check it out!

The drive to Sedona from Flagstaff was short and scenic. Seeing all the Ponderosa pine trees and red rocks alltogether is another level. We already planned a couple of places to visit with short hiking trails. Apparently, there's over 400 hiking trails in Sedona, and we didn't plan to do all that. We were not in the mood to hike but weren't in the mood not to either 🤣! We decided to drive to Courthouse Vista, a popular trailhead hub with red rock views. From there we can already see the Courthouse Butte up close but we went climbing up Bell Rock to get a perfect view of the whole Sedona. It did not disappoint! We didn't have to hike all the way up, just turn around and it's right there! Breathtaking, peaceful and we were speechless! We stayed for a few hours and took it all in.

"Thankful for days when my body takes me to places like this. My heart is so grateful every time nature takes my breath away. I can't imagine life not seeing beautiful destinations."

Lovely view, easy parking, and not too crowded. It only took us 2 hours to walk 4 miles around Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte.

Impressive views from everywhere... can be very easy or very challenging. .all depends on what you want out of it. Busy and popular with limited parking spaces... we lucked out..

Beautiful hike up Bell Rock. Scenery was stunning. Pretty easy to get to scenic views but walking to the top gets tricky, if heights and rock climbing bothers you. Setting is just breathtaking! Clean and well marked trails.

Not a bad hike. Little vertical. Depending on how high you want to go. Or. Just go to ridge and take some pictures. Make sure to have hiking shoes.

Go early in the morning to avoid the heat if the day if you go during summer. The trail was fairly easy and the views are amazing!

Easy hike around bell rock on the bell rock pathway. You can branch off for harder vertical climbs if you’re adventurous. We had a great morning on this hike.

This area is so beautiful, but beloved by everyone. Lots of people at the trailhead taking insta pics. Definitely go an hour or two before sunset (or around dawn) to see the colors shine. I went down to other parking spots down the road and it was less crowded and just as beautiful.

I was disappointed after having been to the Garden of the Gods and other red rock locations. If you’ve seen the red rocks, you’ve seen them. This wasn’t horrible but I wouldn’t go again.

We came in through the 179 entrance and wow, what a sight that was to first lay eyes on Sedona. We made it to the bell rock trail. We actually stopped at the first sign for it but decided we were going to hike it by going to the second trail parking lot which I believe was courthouse vista. Much better choice to climb the rock. We were there around 8 am. Was not crowded at all. We spent about 1.5 hours exploring it but had to finally come down to hit the other trail. Definitely a place to come if you are interested in vortex as well.

I was able to observe some portion of Bell Rock from the end point of Airport Trail. It does look like a bell and with other interesting looking rocks in vicinity, I just enjoyed the view and soaked it all in.

The trial is really laid out pretty good, but couldn't find the path to climb up further on the rock. Go early as it does get hot.

This is a cool land feature right on the edge of town. You can hike trails to and around it. Even if you only view it from a distance it is very impressive.

I have been here during the day and hiked this, but we came at sun-set and it was completely different. Crowds thin out, and the sun setting hitting the adjacent area was beautiful. Very meditative. Stayed past dark, and needed flashlights to get back to the parking lot.

You can do an easy hike or rock climb at this spot with stunning views. Great for a sun rise hike as the sun electrifies the rock formations to the west!

I just stayed in the car but it's worth visiting. It was too hot, in summer you should go early in the morning.

Wonderful path for walking. Parking a nightmare. Think twice about going unless you have time circling lot until you get a spot. Too much waisted time taking shuttles. If they would just expand that lot with a Grader ...such an easy fix!

There are two parking lots for Bell Rock, and they require a Red Rock Pass. While the trip around Bell Rock is an easy one, for us 70 year olds it was a work out. Pack sunscreen, a hat and water as it takes awhile. If you are so moved it is possible to climb to the top. I can only imagine what a wonderful view that is. There are multiple trails which take off from here.

This easy access trail is fun for all ages with amazing views from the top. You can take a longer trail that loops around Cathedral Rock with many smaller trails to choose from. Good parking but as with most popular trails it is important to get to your spot early. Remember in warmer weather to bring water, hat and wear your sunscreen.

Did the Bell Rock loop trail today after doing Cathedral Rock. The trail was hot and sandy. Beautiful views around every corner.

We just loved this hike. It’s a moderate hike with great views. The trails are well marked. Most trails in the area require you to get there early. We were there late morning and did not have a problem getting parking. The trail is pretty busy but everyone is well spread out

An amazing hike to take. Be prepared bring water and some snack. Only if you plan to hang out more enjoyable.
It’s an awesome place and a major vortex

A Sedona must see/do. There is parking available on both the North and South sides, but getting there early is your best bet to get a spot. They fill quickly. If going in the Summer months, be sure to pack enough water if you plan to go hiking.

This is vortex you mustn’t mss. I really is good for The whole family and for those of us getting long in the tooth. It’s as easy as you make it or as hard as you like. Enjoy.

Wow. Midday in late April, I guessed there wouldn't be many people here, but wrong. The parking lots at ALL the trailheads were full. Find another time (early morning or late evening?) to visit. We had to park illegally just to jump out and take some photos. Beautiful rock formations, just way too busy.

The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is because we were unable to figure out how to walk "the bell rock loop". We had stopped at the Visitor Center and were told there was a loop. We couldn't find it.

We had the most wonderful weather in Sedona for our 35th anniversary. We were able to take the trail and hike for 4 miles and get our steps. We met other hikers on the trail who were also hiking. People were respectful of social distancing and mask wearing.

Not for you, if you require a lot of sign and guidance. Very fun, if you like to climb. You can find some fun challenging opportunities! If have good climbing skills you may come across some fun challenges that can be really rewarding.

We loved this hike. We took the "bell rock climb" trail around the rock. Quick hike(1hrish) but amazing views and minimal people. We did not go to the top of bell rock but hope to do that next time.

EASY TO SPOT. One of the most popular formations .Also easy to spot from many places. Also known for its vortex. Beautiful colors

We hiked pretty far but didn’t attempt getting to the top — it looked awfully steep. But gorgeous to look up at it.

This is quite simply one of the most beautiful views I have ever seen.
Imposing and the colours are so very pleasing.

The drive to Bell Rock was beautiful. Then we lucked out and got a parking spot on an early Saturday afternoon. The views were just mesmerizing. There is a paved trail for beginners, or you can climb up and all around the rock too.
This one was one of my favorite spots / hikes we did.

Definitely do this hike. It’s gorgeous! Parking lots can get crowded so hike early if possible. My son climbed up bell rock & loved it.

We hiked the bell rock trail in the afternoon after a morning pink jeep tour. It was very doable to do the bell rock loop and use the rector connector. Gorgeous views.

When you look at the advertisements of Sedona, you literally see everywhere this rock and the the Bell rock. I mean that is the draw for the tourists i.e. to hike or to at least hike around these natural formations, if not on it. Problem is there is a huge parking problem. People scampering dangerously around with their vehicles, circling around in desperation. And if you are folks like me who came from a different state just to experience these; it leaves you enraged and cheated.
There is a vast expanse of empty land around the parking lot and nothing in the vicinity, so its not that there is a space issue. It's simply lousy planning.
So, unless you get here by 7.00 am, which if you don't stay in Sedona then its not practical, don't bother coming here. You have been warned.

We really enjoyed our visit and hike around the area. The trails are well kept and well marked. Bring lots of water and try to finish before it gets too hot.

We chose to climb the Bell Rock as high as we could. The hike is easy and views are stunning! I highly recommend this place.

Amazing views whether at the very top or halfway point. No overcrowding here with so many paths to get to the top. It was a bit tricky to find the trail after the halfway point. Most people stop here and enjoy the beautiful views and peaceful surroundings. I went way left and found a good trail that took me all the way up to the left pillar. Not sure if that was considered the top or not since I didn’t see trails to go up further. Perhaps to get to the very top, it would be a rock climbing exercise for the young and brave.
The way down to the halfway point was tricky, easier for people with long legs since they can reach the crevice and foothold easier. Hard to find the trail that I came up, but I dis stop to admire the rock formations, red sandstone against the green vegetation.

Beautiful formations. Just took pics. Different hike. It was easy to access and reasonable amount of parking. Worth a stop

We are not in shape to climb it up to the top, but a nice walk towards it is doable for us. We started from our B&B and walked until the road. The scenery is beautiful, the views amazing. Just know for your self what’s wise, also think of the warmth, we started at 8 a.m.

This was our first hike during our trip and it's one of the most popular mostly because of how easy it is to access and how close it is to town. However, it ended up being one of the least memorable of the hikes during our trip.

Bell Rock is beautiful. It’s a must see! The whole area surrounding it is beautiful! Take one of the surrounding trails!

Did a self guided hike through the area.Very easy to follow signage. You can go as high up as desired depending on your skill level.

Stunning views of this magnificent landform. It was nice to get photos from different places in our travels

Beautiful red rock with many a myth surrounding it. It may take off someday as a ufo but for now it's just a great place to climb around

Beautiful from far, but incredible up close!
A “must see” adventure for family and friends.
Unfortunately, the visitor’s centers were not open at the time, because of the virus.

we're not really hikers but took short trails towards Bell Rock from our B&B. It is a magnificent Red Rock.

My sister, niece and I really enjoyed the hike/climb although we found we needed better shoes for the higher areas!! We will be back for sure. Beautiful area to take photos

This beautiful, peaceful setting has well-marked maps and trails so it's easy to choose the length and difficulty level of your hike. We are not experienced hikers, yet we had a very enjoyable, not at all strenuous, one-hour hike through outstanding scenery. Be careful of occasional dirt bikers (all of whom were very polite) and horseback riders on the trails. This isn't a drawback, just a reminder. If you have a National Park Pass, parking is free. If not, it's $5.00 for the day with parking passes available via a machine at the beginning of the trail.

This was an easy hike to a beautiful view. The path was very wide to allow for plenty of room to pass other hikers. There were also lots of places to explore and my kids loved it! I would highly recommend this hike!

The Bell Rock pathway can be accessed by several parking lots off highway 179. The Bell Rock Vista parking lot seemed to be the largest of the 3 but they do fill up quickly. Several times, we returned in the afternoon around 3pm and there were parking slots available. You will need to buy a parking pass from the automated machine. You can buy 1 day pass for $5 or a week long pass for $15. The pass can be used at many of the hiking spots around Sedona.
The pathway is a dirt pathway and sometimes is on a rock mountain edge but fairly easy path. Many signs to guide you on the right path or suggest other hiking trails in the area. You still should pay attention to your directions and notice landmarks to help you return to your car. Many cactus and spring flowers were blooming. You can walk as long as you like, long or short. Great colors of the red rocks and blue sky. Remember to take some water and snacks if you stay out awhile.

There are not enough parking spaces. Restrooms are unusably filthy. There are too many people. Just awful.

Amazing hiking experience in beautiful Sedona. Bell Rock is a moderate hike with stunning views of all the main natural features in Sedona. A solid 10 in any hiker's list.

We absolutely LOVED Bell Rock. The magical energy is abundant for all who choose it. Bring your crystals as this is a perfect spot to have them re-energized. We hiked this one day and biked it another day. I think it is a place one can visit over and over and have a different experience each time.

Many angles to photograph this beauty! It is said to be a VORTEX. Would be curios how many ppl feel the energy. We did not.

Bell Rock has a convenient parking lot and nice easy trail if you wish to go on a gentle stroll or you can climb up onto Bell Rock and forge your own path. There are a lot of different ways to do this for different levels of ability and adventure, but be careful!

We went here for a quick photo shoot. We didn't go too deep, probably about 10-15 minutes up until there is a clearing with a flat area for pictures, but the entire region was breathtaking. I would definitely have liked to hike further up, but we didn't have time on this visit.

I had so much fun with this hike. A nice challenge to try to get to the spire at the top. It's nice once you get to the backside of the rock and away from the road noise.

We arrived the parking lot at 6am with only one car park there. Following the AllTrails’s guide, it was easy finding the path to climb up in the dark. It was much easier to climb up compared to climb Cathedral Rock, in my opinion. We truly enjoyed views when sun rises up lighting surroundings rocks. Hiking down is very easy.

Didn’t make it to the top with the bikes but from the base it was amazing to see. Definitely coming back to hike the rest.

We did the Bell Rock loop that goes around Bell Rock and in between Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte. In addition, we followed the trail partway up Bell Rock. The Loop was an easy ~2 mile walk. The trail up Bell Rock was not hard, but some of the climbing areas to go up are really just up rock slabs, so wear good hiking shoes and have a friend to grab your water bottle so you can use both hands. The views are amazing and the vortex makes you very calm.

A very busy area. You have to pay to park (think you can use an America the beautiful state park pass but need to check). There were lots of people hiking and biking in this area. It was a good place to stop for a picnic but the car park was busy and this was in early April.

Great stop! It’s beautiful and everyone was nice. We didn’t go super far, but it’s nice to be able to turn around when you want. It does get very hot.

Bell Rock is surrounded by hiking & biking trails. The trail to Bell Rock is uneven dirt and not accessible by wheelchair. Parking is $5 and hard to find on the weekends. Even if you walk just a short distance up the main trail you'll get awesome views.

Absolutely loved climbing here. Due to surgery/injury I have not done any serious climbing in 2.5 years and it showed!
This allows for climbing that is easy at the base and gradually harder as you ascend the mountain. Great views no matter how for up you get. We did not manage the peak but got quite a ways up.
I recommend good hiking shoes with grip and if you plan to go high maybe even a solid pair of gloves. Also plan to slide down some areas on descent. Coming down was probably a little harder than going up.
Great time - highly recommend!

This is pretty awesome and it's easy to get close on the Scenic drive. There is a small parking lot with trails if you want to get closer. Very accessible and absolutely incredible to see.

This incredible rock formation has many ways to climb up. Few climb to the top, but not me. My favorite place is climbing halfway up, and then traversing around to the West side. There is said to be a vortex there, and when you are there in the morning shadows it seems rather magical. This rock has various level for climbers of all abilities. One can go as far as you like, finding easy places to climb as well as difficult places. It is a popular trail with limited parking, so plan on getting there early.

We decided to start " easy" This rock and view did not disappoint. Like all the other hikes, start early. There was a yoga group and somewhere someone was playing the flute/ recorder. It was beautiful . The lot fills up quickly. Morning light was fantastic. On Saturday we saw four hand gliders ump off.

Nice hike it was 117 outdoors when we hiked up. You will need water and some extra calories. Beautiful views. You can do a short hike to the bottom of the beginning bells of the formation. Short drive out of Sedona

My teenage son and I enjoyed a great hike around and partially up Bell Rock. The path out to and around is well maked and east hike with not much elevation. The highlight was getting a closer look at Lion Head Rock (see pic) on the side of Bell Rock. The biggest challenge is parking! I would suggest arriving before 8:30am to get a spot.

This was our first trip to Bell Rock and it was super beautiful as we hit it just as the sun was going down. I feel that each time of the day the rock looks spectacular just with different lighting. The trip up there was wonderful with ranches trickled here and there, made you feel you were in the middle no no where.

We hiked here on a lovely day. Every time we came to a sign, there were confused people, and we were all asking each other where the heck we were, etc. The signs are not helpful. But we enjoyed our hike.

This was our first hike in Sedona. I loved it. We hiked around the bottom, then climbed and walked around it halfway up. The weather was perfect we were there at 7:20 am. I would recommend for all

We arrived around 730 and it wasn’t crowded. Trail is easy to follow. Lots of rock scrambling, which was fun. Go as high as you want (or don’t). Views were great, esp in the early morning light.

Easy to view from Red Rock Visitor Center, from Bell Rock Path (Trail) or from downtown Village of Oak Creek depending on your level of mobility/comfort. When the lighting is just right, it’s a magnificent thing to behold.

Bell Rock is one of several high spots in the area that are known as vortexes. People climb these to experience what is claimed to be a higher than normal level of magnetic energy on these rocks, and some visitors even claim to have experienced healing of physical ailments on these spots. If you don't get anything else you will surely get some beautiful views if you make the effort to climb them!

Bell Rock is one of many great places in the red rock country of Sedona. At the start of red rock country on Highway 179 it is the first of the vista's you will see in Sedona. Walimnhg trails are relatively easy and you can walk around Bell Rock and enjoy the scenery.

Plenty of trails for any expertise. The main parking fills up quickly (we got the last one). You need a Red Rock Pass or America the beautiful pass. You can combine trails to suit your needs.

Been here twice. Beautiful walk - just go super early before heat if in the summer!!!
Supposedly one of the amazing vortex of the area. Nice cared for trails...

My wife and I hiked this trail to get to Bell Rock and we were absolutely blown away by the beauty that this place had to share with us. We stood in awe so many times not believing that what we were looking at was real. Such an amazing experience! We highly recommend checking this trail out!

Easy hike to Bell Rock and then so much fun just exploring and making your own trail up the rock, great views of Sedona and surrounding area.

I usually only go half way up, then sit and read, while my husband goes to the top. Such beautiful views! Such a beautiful area. Peaceful and relaxing for me.

I stayed at Cozy Cactus B&B near here - and walked out the back gate to hike to this rock. It was so beautiful, especially at sunrise or sunset. Hike is not too hard. Worth the trip to see these types of sites!

There's a ranger station near the base of Bell Rock - lots of parking, clean restrooms. Try to get here at sunrise or sunset when the colors are the best.
We Love this place!
Great energy and a must see and do while in Sedona...parking however is a nightmare and you literally need a parking angel to keep you a space open during peak hours...would recommend getting their either early or late. We stayed at the Bell Rock Inn which is just a few blocks from the trail head...next time we are here we will just leave from the room
