1st Anniversary

The Visitors Center was very helpful. This place gave us information for restaurants, things to do, and places to visit.

Learn something everyday!!

By Venture426985 |

Seeing the movie about the Hurrican with footage and people NOW talking about what they experienced THEN was fantastic! Lots of pictures, books, actual people talking about what they did and saw! The museum was loaded with pictures and facts about Biloxi and how it survived! The lighthouse was exciting!

Stop here first for friendly welcome, inside info, history, and discount coupons.

By Mike W |

The Biloxi Visitors Center is a great place to start your visit. We have been to this area many, many times, but still make a stop at the Visitors Center every trip. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

On our most recent visit, the nice lady behind the desk (I'm sorry...I can't recall her name!) provided us with a "2-for-1" coupon that saved us $60+ at a local attraction! Wouldn't have known about this if we hadn't stopped here! In addition to the coupon / discount booklets and magazines, there are numerous brochures available for area attractions, lodging, restaurants, etc.

The Center has several displays (some video / electronic) about the history of the area, culture, heritage, lighthouses, notable citizens / celebrities, hurricanes, etc. There is a small gift shop, restrooms, water fountains, and vending machines.

There are a few displays / markers outside the building, including high water marks (on a pole) for Hurricanes Camille and Katrina. My sons found this particularly interesting, as we were in the area just days before Katrina. They were obviously a lot younger then, and have seen / heard pictures and stories. But I think seeing, and standing beside these high water marks, kind of put things into perspective for them.

Whether you are looking for historical info, discounts, or just a restaurant recommendation, stop here first and you will surely find it.

Surprisingly well done for a welcome center

By Robin R |

After Katrina we were surprised when the old Biloxi Welcome Center was replaced by a much larger and more elegant facility. However, they have done an excellent job of being creative and using the facility well. Beautiful view from the front porch or balcony. The upstairs is used most weekends for wedding receptions. Love the space devoted to the various immigrant nationalities who have made up the coast over the years and generations. Well done Biloxi. There is not a charge to visit. Plenty of welcome information available too.

Great place to start your Biloxi Adventure!

By marann7 |

This is a must! People are so friendly and helpful. There is a museum in the back. The day I was there I was given a piece of King’s Cake! The building alone is a beautiful place to visit.

Interesting Information

By anita c |

It requires a stop to get information. There is a free film on Katrina that shows twice a day. Beautifully decorated structure.

Best visitor center ever

By Constance I |

Second time visiting here. This is by far the nicest visitor center in all my travels in the country. The building is like a home you would like to own with columns and stately look. It is located across from the Gulf coast beach, pier and lighthouse.
Staff are very informative. Continuous film playing
about history with focus on the destructive flood history.
Must stop if in the area

Quick 30 minute visit

By redmondrovers |

I imagine this is an ok museum for the size of Biloxi, but most of the video presentations were not working correctly and the major show on the 2nd floor was broken. So can't rate it any higher.

Very helpful on directions and found the mall there easily but so crowded this week

By Charlene D |

Wonderful experience awesome people who make you want to come back so much to see and do missed so much will go back soon the beau rivage is the most beautiful casino but real smokey and crowded

CARIBBEAN CRUISE

Lots of interesting things to see in Visitor Center located in a large old home. Good views of Light House from here. Very helpful and friendly Staff. Well worth a visit.

Excellent Visitors Centre

By Geoff H |

This excellent visitors centre gives you a free museum and very friendly informed volunteers who are more than willing to impart their knowledge and give you guidance on what to do while you are in Biloxi. It is a beautiful building in its own right and outside there is even more history in that there is the French Colonial Memorial Garden, the statue of Pierre Le Moyne Sieur d'Iberville and, across the road on the way to the beach, the statue of Astronaut Fred Haise, all of which merit looking at.

This is a top notch visitor center

By travelbug |

I highly recommend this visitor center. Clean restrooms, informative displays, beautiful art and a lovely gift shop. Biloxi lighthouse right across from it.

Great Place to start!

By lindama71 |

Very beautiful visitor's center with friendly and helpful staff. There is a small theater that shows the history of Biloxi and how Katrina affected the area. The historical lighthouse is right out front as well as a beautiful beach with a long walking dock that stretches out over the water. This was a great stop!

Info abound

By Kevin M |

Good place for local information. A video plays in the lobby advertising local restaurants, attractions and points of interest. Endless array of pamphlets are available for the taking and the counter people are more than willing to tell of their towns amenities. They are genuinely proud of the gulf coast of Mississippi. Their is also a small museum on premises to tell the history.

Get to know all about Biloxi

By footballgal |

As a frequent visitor to Biloxi, I have spent just too many hours indoors....casino’s! Beautiful weather for a walk led me to visiting the other Biloxi, the real Biloxi, this wonderful Visitor’s Center. The staff and displays are terrific. The history of this city is very interesting as well as the enormous challenges the people here have faced. Do not miss the movie about Hurricane Katrina, it is unforgettable.

Nice little shop, museum and information center

By bcasey1 |

Pretty building. Social distancing enforced. Gifts unique but a bit overpriced, and have cash or pay credit/debit fee. Nice little history museum.

An Excellent Visit, As Always

By The_Loup_Garou |

Even though we were on a day-trip from New Orleans, to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, I could not resist stopping into the Biloxi Visitors Center, because it is always great fun, entertaining, and educational.

As per our last visit, the Visitors Center was decorated for Christmas. I think that this was our third visit with the Holiday decorations up? The grand building, a replica of an antebellum plantation house (in most respects) was just lovely, and though not in the height of “tourist season,” was actually pretty crowded.

There are three areas with displays, a gift shop, a meeting/conference hall (upstairs), and then the information desk, with excellent folk, who really know the MS Gulf Coast. Though I grew up on the Coast, and have visited many, many times, since moving away, I always learn something knew from the staff. Though located in Biloxi (on US Hwy 90/Beach Blvd, and across from the famous Biloxi Lighthouse), and having “Biloxi” in its name, the Biloxi Visitors Center is really a repository for information on the entire Gulf Coast, and not JUST Biloxi. Ask the staff a question – virtually any question – about the MS Gulf Coast, and they will most likely have the answer, plus a map, and maybe even a brochure. Want to find some long lost, hidden tidbit? I’ll bet that they know where it is, or at least was. Want the latest activities for your children? This is the place to get that info.

We perused the displays, but as we had studied most in detail, on previous visits, just roamed, and then talked to the staff, when the crowds thinned – new water park in Biloxi. New go-carts in Biloxi. Lots of useful, and interesting details, as always.

For us, no trip to the Coast would be complete, without stopping into the Biloxi Visitors Center, and I strongly believe that I recommend it, as one’s first stop on the Coast, more than anything else.

As always, we’ll be back, and on our next visit to Biloxi, and the MS Gulf Coast.

Don't miss this!

By Forgetitnot |

A surprisingly interesting and thorough look at the history - and cultural background - of the area, with well thought-out and well executed displays. A "walk-through history" experience that engages the visitor.

No public restrooms after 5pm

By fishbone95 |

Went for a evening walk on the beach since we are staying at a local hotel. Well nature called and went to use the restroom nope not on the beach or anywhere on it after 5pm. That is just ridiculous

Large Visitors Center

By Dorothy K |

This is a must visit! So much history of the area! Beautiful building! Friendly staff! Nice gift shop.

Be sure and start here

By MagnumBatt01 |

Besides being a visitor center stocked with lots of local info, it is also a very lovely old building. There is a wealth of local information and the staff was very friendly. This is also where you get started if you want to go visit the Biloxi lighthouse

Good Place to see.

By Michael P |

We stopped here first to see what all was available to see in Biloxi. Good place to start you visit. Lots of good information

Beautiful building

By Barrel N |

Big, beautiful building with lots to take in. Nice and helpful staff to tell you about the area along with videos. Worth the stop.

no stop required

By 215John |

It just wasn't oh-awe for me, seemed like a big building with very little in it. Needs more history of civil war, hurricane Katrina stuff and must stop at ideas. I was really depressed, thought it would of been the one Katrina overload stop.

Nice visitors center on the beach

By Rebecca T |

Nice open building with a few displays about the history of Biloxi and a small gift shop. Welcoming staff with a nice park across the street.

Lighthouse View

By Maria B |

What ever you do start your tour of Biloxi here with the Lighthouse tour. And what a view, but arrive early as it too hot to visit the lighthouse after 10:30 AM. Victor gave us a list of 100 things to do in Biloxi, as well as recommended some great places to eat.

Nice place to stop and visit. Cold A/C and friendly staff.

By Rebecca B |

Nice piece of history. We enjoyed a few of the mini movies about the history of Biloxi. Was very nice.

Information

By Tlbasspro |

Very helpful lots of information staff very knowledgeable of the area. Always like to know where the local people eat instead of chain restaurants. They suggested several

Lovely southern style home

By knoxtntraveler_11 |

This isn’t an old home but certainly looks like what you would find in the old south. Excellent, interesting displays. Friendly staff...a gift shop is available. I would definitely recommend a stop here. Good place to snap a pic of the lighthouse too

So Informative & Friendly

By nlamb9 |

Want to know anything about Biloxi activities go here. Learned a lot about seafood industry & hurricane devestation that I had very limited knowledge of before.

Beautiful building inside and out. Located in front of the Biloxy pier and light house- great spot for taking pictures.

Where to find what to see

By donnakhf |

The Biloxi Visitor Center is a great place to learn some of our towns history. You can also pick up brochures of places of interest locally. They have a great gift and souvenir area.

Fantastic Visitor Center

By JILLERNST |

Wonderful Visitor Center. Great Hurricane Katrina displays. Don’t miss it. And do miss the pole outside marking the water marks from the different hurricanes. Quite an eye opener

Beautiful

By DutchLace |

Beautiful place with a small museum of the ares. Plenty of informative brochures of the area and maps. One can explore the building. If the ballroom isn't rented out for an event, make sure to check out the second story porch. The view is beautiful.

Biloxi visitors center, a must .

By djc |

A well located and very helpful visitor center. The place to visit if you are planning a visit to Biloxi.
Built after hurricane Katrina it shows Biloxi’s commitment
To tourism. A nice antebellum style building reminiscent
Of the many buildings lost in the terrible storm that were built along the beach road.

Vacation

By Billie H |

The Visitor Center was a great help in planning how are days while we were in Biloxi and seeing everything we were interested then also restaurants good food

Elegant!

By karencO5887OQ |

The building is gorgeous!

The gift shop is fun & fair priced.

The ballrooms and veranda are breathtaking.

Highly recommend they serve “high tea” & “Mint Juleps” on weekend afternoons.

Must See!

By dizzydeb102 |

If you're new to Biloxi/Gulfport area or vacationing, you must visit the Biloxi Visitors Center. It is filled with local facts and history and a very nice gift shop. Learn about places to eat and things to do. We are looking at moving to the area and learned a lot about benefits for seniors. This is a beautiful building, very warm and welcoming.

More needed

By Ken H |

Nice building but not all that interesting. Was disappointed that my friend from Mexico could not understand any of the topics such as the history of the area as everything is in English only..for an area the was discovered/ occupied by French, Spanish you'd think they would do that little bit extra and have displays in multiple languages

Had to go in here first!!

By Kim M |

Stopped in before heading to beach. Gorgeous house and view to beach. Only bad thing was crossing the busy street to the beach but that's only if you go in here.

Quite and air conditioned

By matous |

A pleasant visit, gives a nice overview of Biloxi. Does have wonderful exhibits on the diversity of cultures and the history of individual families of Biloxi. That part of the museum was the most interesting A very good overview of the town is at the Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum, which is more tuned to fishing; whereas here is overall.

Nice place, friendly people.

By Kegan36604 |

Has a little museum as well as the normal visitor center stuff (helpful staff, gift shop, brochures, clean restrooms, etc). My first trip there I was met with a "Closed for Private Party" sign. Hope that is not a routine event. Also has a bike rental kiosk in the parking lot.

Couples get a way!!

By Vectra h |

The weather was great little
Muggy but great. We visited the museum which was very informative. We watched a 10 minute movie telling us about Biloxi and Hurricane Katrina.

Biloxi Visitors Center

By wa6flr |

The Biloxi Visitors Center was very helpful in guiding my visit to the area. I enjoyed Biloxi and found it was a wonderful place for great seafood.

Nice Visitor's Center!

By AKKris |

This was a very nice visitor's center to get information about the local area. Lots of information and displays.

Historic Building

By Betts53 |

If you love historic buildings, this is worth stopping. It is across from the Biloxi Lighthouse. Lots of information about the area and also has a museum to tour.

Biloxi Visitor's Center

By jackiefiddle |

Amazing compilation of Biloxi history. The building itself was formerly a hotel. Stunning interior chock full of historical artifacts with a big focus on Hurricane Katrina and the destruction she wrought on this small Gulf Coastal town.
There's a charming gift shop with a surprising selection of Biloxi oriented memorabilia. Prices are reasonable. Additionally, on the 2nd floor there is a theatre that features stories of Katrina survivors. Also there is beautiful artwork throughout, a delightful second story porch that offers lovely views, and the people who work there are pleasant and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Craft Fair

By Laura G |

Pre-Christmas trip to Biloxi. Nice craft fair inside and on the grounds of the visitors center.Things for the kids. Reasonablly priced crafts. Free photos with Santa 🎅.
Fun hour walking around this old mansion.

Good Stop

By pixiekansas |

Local information can be found here. Nice place with ample parking. Small museum with exhibits that tell about the history of Biloxi. Worth a stop.

Worthy of its rating

By minnesotans4 |

Usually a visitor's center is not the #1 attraction in a city but this an exception. Walking up the steps, I felt like I was about to enter an antebellum home. The center was dedicated in 2011. On the main level, was the gift shop, exhibits and informative videos. The video describing the architecture of Biloxi homes was quite interesting. Don't miss the Elvis Presley jacket in the hallway before you go upstairs. In the large theater upstairs, watch the video on Katrina and how the hurricane affected the area.
The view of the gulf and the lighthouse from the empty ballroom on the second floor was quite pretty. The visitor center was free and there was ample parking.

Wow!! Very Impressive!!

By 77LAH |

First of all the building is spectacular!! Simply beautiful!! Staff know their job and take great pride!! Friendly, polite and enjoy doing what they are doing! Exhibits are wonderful too. We did miss the movie presentation that I would have liked to see. Maybe more than twice a day would have helped. Do drop in!!

Lot to see, learn, enjoy, and be shocked by

By Vera C |

The before and after of Biloxi (the capital of the Louisiana purchase before New Orleans)
is fascinating and captured so wonderfully in this beautifully restored-rebuild old mansion.

The video of the destructive hurricane Katrina is heartbreaking. Beside to arrange your visit to see the video. Call to check running times. Art, vintage furniture, gardens, include some of your experience. And of course a gift shop.

great place

By Belinda H |

so much information- staff was wonderful- must put this on your place to visit-make sure you go to the theater room

Very informative

By Luckytraveler10 |

Beautiful setting and building for information center. Staff was very polite and extremely helpful. Lobby has small but well stocked gift boutique. Very interesting historical display. Currently historical movie being shown at 10 and 2 . Definitely worth the trip to visit.

Home like

By Jill B |

I felt right at home, a welcoming spot to visit. It was decorated for Christmas when we were there. Couches & chairs inside like you’d see in your home. It’s a beautiful large old home with plenty of space to wonder & stretch your legs. They have lots of info available on the area, as well as a museum like area to explore & learn more about Biloxi. The was kind and friendly ready to help if needed.
Thank you for being there 😎

Loved it! Very glad I visited.

By REBECCA W |

The view from the porch is brilliant. The art work is classy and the overall experience was completely worth it. If you are in the area, do it.

I don’t see Biloxi as a big party town. So, don’t expect a lot of hype...it’s not Destin. But the quiet, historical areas are lovely by comparison.

Beautiful building

By taregirl |

The staff was friendly and helpful and the building was beautiful!! Not much else to see here. The live oaks were nice too

Lots of info

By Anne K |

Very informative volunteer, even if they perfume she was wearing was put on quite heavily. Lots of info available here through brochures, museum and movies...a great first stop in Biloxi

The First Stop to Make in Biloxi

By Paul S |

This is more than just a visitor center. There is also a museum in the building that gives a good overview of the area's history and points of interest. They have a theater which periodically shows a fascinating film on hurricane Katrina. Plan to spend an hour or two here.

A little local art, history & info all in one place!

By Robert W |

We were with friends who are locals and they suggested we browse here. And I'm so glad they did! Truly impressed with the building and everything inside. What initially seemed like a short stop, turned into almost 2 hours. The staff was very friendly and helpful...just felt like being with friends. If you're new to the Biloxi area, I highly suggest getting started here!

Good place!

By j l |

Good place to bring the family for a decent vacation. We have been there 4 times this year. The only downspot at all was the Beau Rivage...terrible terrible customer service. VERY unfriendly staff. Thought we where going to be carjacked in parking garage. Terrible...terrible...terrible! AVOID!!

Great history and information.

By 875cydneyl |

Enjoyed reading about all the history of Biloxi and seeing the lighthouse too. It was a great side trip that we enjoyed.

Beautiful visitor center!

By LoveAGreatBnB |

This is the most beautiful visitor center I have ever been in; it looks like an old southern home, with coffered ceilings and beautiful light fixtures. They offer free coffee. They have lovely gift items. We did not get to see the museum there, but we did get great help from one of the people staffing the visitor center. She was extremely knowledgeable and helpful about everything! At 10 AM and 2 PM a film runs upstairs in the second-floor theater about the impacts of Hurricane Katrina, which were quite hard on Biloxi.

The staff here was so friendly and helpful

By 46749 |

This is a beautiful building in and of itself. The staff went way beyond for us. They were just so cordial, friendly, and helpful giving us the names of people that could help us with some paper work. We couldn't have asked for any thing more. They gave us that Southern hospitality. Thanks.

Great Visitors Center

By mhandersen2016 |

This is the second time I have been to the Biloxi Visitors Center recently. The building is very large and houses many interesting exhibits. If you look at everything, it will take you about and hour and a half to go through. Also included are two interesting films. We stayed until the Hurricane Katrina film came on (it only plays twice a week) and watched it. Very informative and educational. Building is clean and staff is very friendly. Highly recommend.

Vacationing

By Christine D |

We stopped at the Visitor’s Center on our first day in Biloxi. What a beautiful building!! Lots of information. Definitely recommend!

Come on in!

By beachbumtoo1 |

Surely you are stopping at the lighthouse, and if you time it right you can go to the top to see the beautiful light. While you are there, check out the visitor center. We are so glad it is back, better than ever. There is much good information there. Also, you can catch the great mini-museum that shows the diverse people who have contributed to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and Biloxi. It shows you how the American dream is still open to all, and how welcoming we are down here.
Also take the time to see the view from the balcony and snap some great pictures of the lighthouse and beach. Sunset just before closing is a great time for this.
There are also pleasant rooms for events in a crisp, clean setting behind those stately pillars.
P.S. There are bathrooms, but you need shirt, shoes and a little time to visit. Enjoy.

Museum

By P F B |

This is worth a visit, not just for help with what to do in Biloxi. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The decor inside is beautiful, like that of an historic home. But this is also a history museum of not just Biloxi, but Mississippi as well. There is also a film on Katrina and its impact on Biloxi. And there's free coffee.

The Welcome Center

By Cora C |

We stopped to pick up some brochures and get directions. The lady that helped us was so friendly and informative. So willing to help, she was most definitely working in the right job. We took her advice and did 3 of the many activities she recommended, and we had a great time. I wish we would have gotten her name.

Always Interesting

By Shannon C |

I make it point to stop in here almost everytime I am in Biloxi as it is the easiest place to find out what is going on down there, plus they always have some neat displays and the free theater upstairs with short historical films playing every 15 minutes and longer more detailed films a couple of times a day. Plus just the view from the front porch of the Lighthouse and gulf is worth the stop...

Stop for info at tourist center

By buzzarddennis |

Stopped by for information about Biloxi / Gulfport area. Had lots of informative brochures available. Personell who were on staff duty very helpful with our questions and gave good directions and fairly precise answers. Got a lot of information on other Mississippi destinations while there, especially Mississippi Gulf Coastal areas. Personell working there actually helped us with several maps we received from tourist center to get our travel destinations correct. Atta-boy to friendly ladies who assisted me and family. Suggest anyone visiting area stop in to see all they offer. You can save lots of money from stopping and getting brochures with discounts in a lot of them!!

Great Visitor Center

By Kimberly834 |

Highly reccomend visiting the visitors center, lots of helful "Things to do and see". Super friendly staff! Very informative displays.

Quaint Little Town

By Mayank S |

If you like to travel to explore, make it a point to visit the Visitor Center of every town you visit.

While on I10, I'd suggest take a detour for a couple of hours and follow the parallel Oceanic Route of Highway 90.
This beautiful highway runs parallel to gulf of Mexico and id dotted with small towns like Biloxi & Gulf Port with beautiful & quite beaches.
We visited the visitor center during Christmas Holidays and were fortunate to witness weekend Bazaar there.
Locals had setup shops to sell local crafts/ handmade items and each of them were simply amazing.
The price was unbelievably less. My wife ended up buying loadsa jewelry at 1/3rd the cost of what we would find in our city.

Inside the visitor center, we were quite impressed by how the little town celebrates its diversity. Specially in these times of division which is propping up.
They had put up stories and family pictures of many immigrant families of the town who came & settled there generations ago and how they have been contributing to the economy.

The gift shop has a lot of beautiful items to sell too..

And then of course the lighthouse is worth a click..

Great Visitors Center

By Carolyn C |

This Visitors Center had a nice free museum and gift shop. You can go upstairs where there is a theater and a meeting room. It looks like it is a great place to have a wedding reception.

Very nice visitor center great information

By Expedition538707 |

We enjoyed our visit in Biloxi thanks to the great information and helpful personal. They gave us information about activities happenning during the days we were there. We picked different restaurant options that had offers and good deals, and enjoy the shopping too.

Well Done

By gold-vintner |

One could easily spend 4 or more hours here studying the history of the area, viewing film, shopping for souvenirs, talking with the knowledgeable staff, etc. They also have a ton of information available on local activities & schedules.

And, as a bonus, the building is quite nice as well.

Good starting point

By Bertram H |

First rate exhibits. Theatre on 2nd floor showing short films on Biloxi and Hurricane Katrina. Lots of literature and coupon booklets

Very helpful

By OldBridgeTraveler |

The visitors center itself is a sight to see. They have a small museum and a video. Twice a day they show an additional video on hurricane Katrina. Buy tickets here to see the light house.

Nice museum, staff isn’t super friendly

By Nikki |

The museum is really nice with a lot of interesting exhibits, but not one member of the staff seemed to want to be bothered about anything. I was lucky to get information from one of them about how to tour the Biloxi Lighthouse. On the other hand, the Biloxi Lighthouse tour guide was super friendly.

Most attractive visitors center you have ever seen

By TravelingBill |

This is a beautiful facility right on the main drag--hwy90--in Biloxi. It is right at the lighthouse. Helpful people, a full museum on the Biloxi area, gobs of information, clean restrooms. What else can you ask for?

Full of information

By melwashere81 |

If you're visiting Biloxi and not really sure what you'd like to do then make this place the first stop on your list. The visitor center is full of information and free brochures with tons of things to do in Biloxi and the surrounding areas.

Don't miss the history of the lighthouse presentation in the back of the building as well as one of the best views of the Biloxi lighthouse right out front.

The visitor center is free to all but don't miss a stop at the gift shop for a unique souvenir. Definitely worth a stop.

Good regional museum across the street from the Biloxi Lighthouse

By ransom007 |

The visitors' center has free parking and free admission. It is where you sign up for a tour of the lighthouse. Unfortunately for me, hurricane Marco was coming to town and there was no lighthouse tour. The visitor center museum has many artifacts and a good regional history. Being a visitors' center there were dozens of brochures for the taking. The is also a nice gift shop.

Holiday Party

By Renata Flot-Patterson |

Had a wonderful time at the Biloxi Bay Area Chamber Holiday Party. Great food! Great Music! Fun games and Great people from the various Coastal Mississippi business industries.

My friends and I stopped by the Visitors Center while vacationing in Biloxi and it was very nice. We were amazed at all of the displays and the history behind them. We were very impressed.

Get a feel for Biloxi's past and present

By Christine H |

The visitors' center is housed in a beautiful mansion along Beach Boulevard. It had to be re-built after its destruction by Hurricane Katrina. There are multi-media exhibits telling about the city's past and present. It's very informative. There is also a little gift shop. From the second floor, enjoy the beautiful view of the nearby lighthouse and beach.

Vacation

This visitors center doubles as a museum. It is set in an antique home and has artwork and historical displays throughout the center.

By Natalie R |

We visited to find things to do in town after the train tour lady just no showed on her 1 pm tour. Was able to find menus for local places to eat to help make a decision on where to go for lunch. lovely building

Glad we stopped in

By Lucaspapa |

Nice people, anxious to help. Interesting displays in the visitor center itself. Biloxi is very easy to get around, if you know the basics, and fortunately, the Visitor Center covers that need very nicely.

Hidden Gem

By Redcurls875 |

We came buy to buy tickets for the lighthouse and toured the building...What a fun adventure, the staff was great and answered all our questions. Great group of people working there .

Worth a visit!!!

By ideal21 |

We visited here on a windy day and didn't regret it! It was nice to see the history of the city. It really put into perspective the damage that Hurricane Katrina did to the city. It's one thing to see it on the news, but another to see the actual area where it happened. I especially liked the wood carvings, the pictures of the oyster harvest, and of course, the statue of the Canadian "hero" sent to look for the end of the Mississippi River. (I'm Canadian, so I'm biased). There is also a gift shop worth a look. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!

Worth stopping

By Kristi F |

We had not been to the Biloxi area before and really weren’t sure what there was to do outside of the casinos. My recommendation is to stop in here, take a look at all of the brochures and offers, as well as looking at the architecture of the building. We learned a lot and it was worthwhile stopping in.

Great starting point

By slas86 |

Beautiful building and location. The historic displays throughout the building are interesting and informative. The views of the lighthouse and water from the front porch are wonderful. So much local information available as well

Loved visiting this place

By TXVicky |

There is a lot of history in this building and lots of information on Biloxi. The staff is very friendly and helpful as well. They have a nice gift shop and clean restrooms too.

Just a Great Place

By KevinEdD95 |

You feel majestic just standing on the porch looking out onto the Gulf waters. It's an impressive building, inside and out. They have, of course, every sort of information you can imagine: people, brochures, pamphlets, handouts, etc. They even have a small gift shop, restrooms, etc. It's well worth 20 - 30 minutes of your day.

Beautiful Place

This is an amazing visitors center, one of the best. They have everything you can think of to help you plan your visit. There is a museum of the history of the area, exhibits and a small store. If you can't find help here for your visit and suggestions on things to do, then go home, lol

Really glad we stopped.

By CathyP217 |

This visitor's center is beautiful. The staff are very helpful and you can find any information you want. It's a good place to start your visit.

Neat history nice displays, kept my mouth shut.

By Engineering13 |

We visited the visitor center on a rainy day. We were greeted by a very kind man and he explained how the center tour worked.

The displays were very well done. Other than the gentlemen that showed us in and the young man that helped me in the gift shop, I would probably recommend customer and public manners training to some of the others.

Found it odd that they would yell for each other from room to room and share their drama openly with the general public. All in all they were unprofessional.

The public works gentlemen fixing the restroom sink was more helpful and informative than the two that I assume felt they were “in charge” of the facility.

This is the center piece of Biloxi pride they should act as such. I felt sorry for the gentlemen that helped us in and my family as the events unfolded.

Not a dig on the facility. Just the two rude people that I’m pointing out here I found rather disappointing and not the examples of southern hospitality that I experienced in other places.

Informative

By Amanda L |

The staff was really friendly and willing to talk to you and answer questions. The movie about Katrina/Biloxi is a must see. Some of the staff lived in the area when Katrina hit and may share their own personal stories with you. They have a nice little gift shop and pamphlets for all there is to do in the area. I believe they will give you a tour of the light house early in the morning if it's not too hot.

Great

Everything you need to find out is here books coupons the guide was very helpful and gave good pointers and recommendations

Worth the time

By Karen H |

We stopped in and were very happy we did. The exhibits are very well done and informative. Everyone was so pleasant.

Broke down and not as interesting as previous reviews stated.

By Charlie K |

After reading great reviews, talking of the museum it is, as well as visitor center. Reading that many videos talk of it. And there is a history of Katrina and the rebuilding efforts. So reading this we went on our second morning there. Huge building, exciting to know it's a treasure to find. None of the tv videos worked. Went upstairs where Katrina story was showing in Theater. Once up there, entire upstairs is vacant rooms, but for offices. There was a paper saying theater was broke down. Told from office personnel that it wasn't being fixed any time soon, but we could go down and watch stories of Biloxi on many TVs. I told them they were not on. Directed to go down, and ask at desk. They should be working, and they would give us a DVD about Katrina we could take with us. We retreated down (they should put signage at stairs and elevator saying no use to going up currently). Stopped another couple and tried to warn them. They thanked us and continued on. Later saying they should have followed us down. The desk help said we had to walk past tvs to active them. Finally she followed us and found we were correct. Said she would reboot them an wait a few minutes. Twenty minutes later we went out again asking about if they would be working today. She said probably not. We asked of dvd. She said for $10. We left very disappointed. I three days here, realize everything but casinos seem to still need fixed from Katrina. Feel sorry for this area. Much like other places with casinos, everything else around it suffers.

Great Experience!

Biloxi Visitor’s Center has so much to offer travelers. The visitor center conveys the interesting story of Biloxi’s history. My favorite is actually the front porch. I could sit out there for hours when the weather is nice and there is a breeze blowing.

A beautiful and interesting building

By Maureen S |

My husband visited the Biloxi Visitors Center while staying in Biloxi.
It looks like a old mansion.
I enjoyed watching the short film about hurricane Katrina.
It is easy to spend a couple of hours touring the whole museum.

Biloxi Getaway

By OnAir747894 |

Stopped in to pick up the tram ride and to use restrooms beforehand. Very alert desk person picked up on 2 in our party with limited mobility and immediately phoned Carla to come pick us up, as we unknowingly were across the stree from pickup. The Center personnel were very helpful, very knowledgeable, and quick to grasp the situation. Very much appreciated!

Worth a stop in

By Sburris65 |

We recently embarked on a 2000 mile venture from our home in SC to Houston TX to get a copy of my husbands birth certificate so he could get his SC drivers license. Due to a calamity of events including wrecks and bad weather. Our trip took much longer than expected leaving me very little time to see anything. We decided on the Biloxi Lighthouse as it would allow me to see something along the way without requiring a large chuck of time (I have a seperate review on the lighthouse). After photographing the lighthouse and a stroll on the beach, I decided to pop in before we headed out.

The visitors center is situated in a stately mansion and is across the street from the lighthouse and the pier. If you are lucky enough to be here during the early hours and wish to climb the lighthouse, the tours starts here. Inside is fascinating. There are numerous displays of the history of the town and a movie. Enjoy local art including a gorgeous piece made from a downed tree from Katrina. There is also a gift shop and rest rooms. Parking here is free.

I wish I would have more time to explore but we needed to get back on the road. I am hoping to make a return trip to Biloxi in the future. And if I do I will make sure to allow more time to explore inside. But this place is worth a stop in.

Really Interesting and Well Done!

By Jeanie J |

We take all of our out of town guests here! It is easy to read the information plaques and the videos are interesting and just the right length. We always enjoy it!

Not so friendly young lady

By sunni014 |

Went to the visitors center because we had read on line that they offer a movie during the day about the history of Biloxi and we thought that would be interesting. The young lady at the desk acted like we were disturbing her day when we asked about the movie. She told us we were too late, that she thought there would be anther one tomorrow. She then said we could look around if we wanted to but they were cleaning up for the day. ( it was a little after 2:00 ) We just left...

Wonderful Visitor’s Center

By AlabamaAngel |

My family and I visited the lovely Biloxi Visitor’s Center everyday that we were in town. I absolutely loved their small gift shop. I bought many items while there. The gift shop features the creations of many local artists. They have jewelry, wind chimes, oyster trees, ornaments, postcards, food, etc. Their prices are extremely reasonable in the gift shop.
The Visitor’s Center offers a small, free museum that featured the history of Biloxi. They also show a 45-50 minute film about Hurricane Katrina. The restrooms are very clean, as well.
Of course, they have brochures to chose from and the employees are very happy to offer their assistance and give recommendations for things to do while in town. The Visitor’s Center is located behind the lighthouse and across the street from Biloxi Beach. I highly recommend making this your first stop while in Biloxi.

Water Issue

By jerry m |

Don’t visit the water currently has Blue Green Algae and extremely toxic beaches being closed throughout the area. Don’t eat seafood harvested here

VERY helpful place to find out what to do in Biloxi and get some historical perspective.

By MZP232 |

The helpful workers are the best. The literature is useful and the gift shop is good. If you are not familiar with Biloxi, this is a good place to go first.

Very informative, great staff!!

By sexysag1969 |

A great place to get a history lesson. A small museum with lots of info. Great, friendly staff. We went early when it was empty so the staff gave us great tips and things to do in the area. The highlight is you must stay and watch the film on hurricane Katrina. I think it's shown twice a day, about 45 mins long but you learn a lot. In the northeast you only heard the damage to New Orleans regarding Katrina, never knew Miss. and Biloxi esp. was affected. Great lesson for kids. You must stop in and explore. And to top it off, it's free!!., can't beat that!!

Stopped in

By Angie C |

Decided to stop it after looking at the lighthouse. Very nice. Interesting things to see. Set up like a museum.

A worthwhile stop

By mikeyoung00 |

This ain't your typical Interstate visitor's center. Located at the Biloxi Light House, this place has far more to offer than any state Welcome Center I have visited. And I've been to quite a few.

Well done displays and small museum

By Jean H |

There are the usual brochure racks which we expected to see, but they have a nice little museum tucked in the back with some interesting displays of the history of the area, cool photos of their lighthouse, and a wall of famous Biloxians including astronaut Fred Haise and everyone's favorite pirate, Jimmy Buffet.
Oddly enough, the Biloxi lighthouse is on the boulevard outside the Visitor's Center. Also along the boulevard are carvings made from trees damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Welcome and history of Biloxi

By charleslambert392 |

The usual welcome center handouts and maps. Great staff and even a gift shop.
Rocking chairs on the front porch to relax in.
What sets this welcome center apart is the nice history of Biloxi museum. Very well done dispays of the history of the area and the incusive families that made Biloxi great.
Upstairs are conference rooms and event areas so that locals can take full advantage of this large, plantation style building.
Small play area across the street in additional parking area.

Very helpful

By Carol M |

We have been to Biloxi many times, but this was our first visit to the visitors center. My husband was curious about fishing off some of the piers. The gentleman there was very helpful. He told us about the regulations and where a bait shop was. There is a nice gift shop and lots of brochures. It is housed in an old southern mansion which is worth seeing.

More than a visitors center

By Liz S |

The Biloxi Visitors Center is right on highway 90 with a view of The Biloxi Lighthouse and Gulf. It’s not just your ordinary Visitors Center it is much more. Offering a continuous showing of a 10 minute film , “We are Biloxi” along with a very nice multi media exhibit giving an insightful view of the cultural diversity of Biloxi and the Gulf Coast. A very nice gift shop is available too. A very knowledgeable staff will give information and offer maps and give directions. The building also is a venue hosting many weddings each year. The two story building with double porches overlooking the gulf is the perfect spot for entertaining.

Impressed

By UMtravelers |

Lots of information to help us figure out what to do. Friendly and very welcoming. There are plenty of books with coupons as well.

A must visit for tourist and a really neat Christmas show by local artist in early December and super friendly staff

An awesome Visitors Center

By Jodi H |

The Biloxi Visitors Center is located at 1050 Beach Blvd. across the street from the lighthouse. It was built after Katrina & opened in 2011. Open 7 days a week until 5pm. A marvelous 2 story center with a grand stairway that’s breathtaking. Upstairs is a 10 minute movie about Biloxi. Downstairs is a museum with incredible displays. The gift shop has some lovely art pieces done by local artists, plus a variety of souvenirs. There is a wealth of information about Biloxi along with a friendly staff. Not your average Visitors center, so please take some time & go here while in Biloxi.

A winter getaway

By Deanna L |

This place was beautiful! It is very large and the gift shop is adorable. The staff was super friendly.

Biloxi Visitors Center... Unexpected Gem

By Kelly W |

This is a really wonderful FREE museum with lots of interesting history. Don't miss the movie about how Katrina affected the city of Biloxi. We really enjoyed our visit!

Interesting place to visit.

By Dorothy L |

The visitor's center has many interesting exhibits. It is right across the street from the lighthouse.

Good data collecting

By Bookmon |

Nice folks. Even met representatives from the Biloxi retirement community. (Keep trying to convince Wifey). The did not have the "Coupon Concierge" from what I did find. It’s a fave of ours when on the Magnolia State Coast.

Very informative

By cs2898 |

People were very friendly and helpful. They gave us good ideas for things to see in the area. The center had some very nice exhibits

Really Nice

By Baker |

Loved this visitor center and was pleasantly surprised to find a full museum on the inside! The building is beautiful and right in front of the gulf. There was a wealth of information on the Biloxi area and it provided some interesting history. We loved all the exhibits and enjoyed the time spent there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Theater on the second floor was nice.

Centrally Located on the Highway, Nice internal Museum, Nice Gift Shop

Centrally Located on the Highway, Nice internal Museum, Nice Gift Shop

Recommended for Pamplets , Travel Guides and Maps. If you are interested in touring the light house in front of it, here is where you pay for the tour.

Great Gifts, Nice small Museum inside. Also contains local Memorabilia of famous people from this area and state. Friendly Staff

True learning day....

By wsturmfels |

Saw alot of history but was amazed at the information about the big storm.....Katrina....photos were really something that told a story, it was truely amazing. Some of the stories touched my heart, they had a ruff time of it. The rest of the building had plenty of things to see but I could never get my mind off the Katrina information and the pictures. This area was really slammed.

A Must Visit

By Lou2270 |

Stop by, even if only for walking through the house and going in the theater room to watch documentary on Katrina.

Fabulous Visitors Center a MUST

By GLMTraveler |

What an amazing Visitor Center Biloxi offers. The docent was very friendly and knowledgeable, sharing information about Biloxi as well as the building. A lot of good local information as well as tchotchkes to take home. The building is stunning! Good job as a visitor center with lots of information. Thank you so much.

No service

By Jan T |

This place is in a beautiful building and location. You can see the lighthouse and the beach. We stopped because this was our first trip to Biloxi. They have lots of brochures but no one ever spoke to us. No one even welcomed us to Biloxi or asked if they could help us with anything. But, the bathrooms are very clean.

Nice folks, nice place, good luck getting to it

By Michael B |

Nice people in a well-kept restored mansionette. Informative museum, eclectic gift shoppe. Loses a point and a half due to implausible access. Post-Katrina (10 years) road repair still going on, right outside. Road and parking lot access in shambles, bring 4WD or beater car. Huge straw bale truck parked right in front of entrance, in lot, for an hour whilst we were there. Just a mess to get to and get out of, kind of impacts the whole experience. Will be taking our SUV in for realignment.

Do your job leave your politics at home

By rocco c |

my wife and I heading to Texas for business arrived in Biloxi on Saturday. We stayed in a RV park along beach blvd.and used our car in which we tow to get around areas we liked to see while travelling.realizing the vast empty lots in and around Biloxi one could not forget the devastation and destruction to the gulf coast. During Katrina .We found the spirit of the people in Biloxi to be steadfast and proud in how far they have come.I first thought it was a mistake to remain in Biloxi due the closing of shoreline since july 2019 due to a virus in the water. So if you dont gamble, cant go to beach ,you drive around get to know area.we enjoy antique hunting so that for us is always fun.we decided to take a ride 1 hour to New Orleans while driving we discussed possibly folding up RV and heading down to new orleans for the remainder of our gulf stay. After a long day we decided that we condensed all we need to see in along day and felt that biloxi can use some additional tourism dollars.after lunch on monday we stopped in for a visit at the welcome center on beach Blvd..A beautiful building with the history of biloxi at your dispoal.after completing tour of first floor we encountered 4 woman who seemed to work for center at main counter.the young woman could not even talk about the area because there was this older shorter woman taking over conversation.so we had no choice but to hear her life story and while getting in a question or two on what to do further in Biloxi. she began voicing her opinion on irresponsible young people and how she never raised her kids to become spoiled as this new generation. We all realize that there could be a generational gap and some of us have strong opinions but sometimes, maybe all times, we should garage your opinions while working .especially while working .Well I new it was coming THE I HATE TRUMP mantra! I am sick and tired that people who's intentions are nothing more then to come and support a once devastated area have to be subjected to this. Then she says that she shouldnt say this, but you need to go to gulfport and use their casino because they offer a better deal on brunch. She works for Biloxi .She has a mouth in my opinion that has always had a foot in it.Just not at work with the public !PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You got to see the film

By Elymusicman |

The mural exhibit, information brochures, helpful information from the employee was great however the film about the hurricane destruction was an eye opener. Kudos to the people of Biloxi for weathering the storm and their progress of rebuilding Biloxi.

More than a brochure stop

By bill d |

Usually you stop to get help brochures and use the restroom, but this has history and interesting places displaying people, places and time lines of Biloxi. It turned into a picture taking excursion and we spent three times are normal 'visitor center' rest stop. P . S. We also got the areas run and entertainment items.

Good place to start

By J Zosa |

House was cool and very informative. Good place to start your visit to learn about the history of Biloxi. Receptionist was nice and gave us useful information.
Kids (5 & 9) enjoyed spending time there and watching the movie in the upstairs theater.

Upscale

By Liz S |

The casino is extra nice and all the restaurants offer a variety of food from casual dining to fine dining. We enjoy a quick bite at Snacks, a good cup of coffee at the Roasted Bean or sit down dinner at Stalla, Jia, or BR. Lots of choices for slots or table games. The Beau offers two non smoking areas and their ventilation is top notch so you don’t come out smelling so Smokey. We always enjoy our visit. The pool is huge and the rooms are spacious.

Take Illinois visitor

By Nancy |

My husband and I visited the Biloxi Visitors Center to watch the Katrina film when we moved here in 2015. We were so impressed with the Center, it's displays, gift center and helpful staff that we take all our visitors from out of town to the Center. For ourselves and all our guests so far, the film is the best part of the center. It helps folks understand what the Mississippi Gulf Coast endured thru Katrina but mostly, how resilient, strong and caring the residents here were and still are. We love living here now full time and will continue to share this great facility and film with our visitors.

Family Trip

By sskroll |

In a great building and very helpful staff that know the area. There is also things to see on the outside of the center in relation to history of the area.

CHECK IT OUT

By Greg J |

Great place to visit to get the history of the Biloxi area. If you dont want to read, there is an audio presentation of all the exhibits and history. As time heals all wounds, a great documentary about Hurricane Katrina and the devistation it brought to the area. Great gift shop and brochures of all the stuff going on.

Best visitors center ever

By Jim A |

Was the most beautiful visitors center we have ever been in. So glad to see the building being preserved for all to see. The ladies that helped us were all friendly and really made us felt welcome. When your in the area you must stop and see it.

History and Informing

I am a history buff. We enjoyed our visit to the center. The history and information they have is great. Not so much for young kids, but older children might enjoy the visit

Nice Visitors Center!!

By Bobby31225 |

My friend and I stopped in here and it was one of the best Visitor Centers I've ever been in!! Big beautiful building. Lots of history and photographs to look at. Great staff and very helpful. Just seeing the building alone is marvelous!! Worth the stop!!

A great place for Biloxi's history

By Ashlis |

This is a great stop if you're visiting Biloxi and you'd like to take a look at local architecture, local history and learn more about what the region has to offer. Helpful tip - just across the street from the Visitors Center to the west is a small pavilion with a spring-fed stream running behind it. This was the site of the first temporary settlement built by the French explorers when they first landed in the New World on what would eventually become the Mississippi Gulf Coast. They built their fort in this spot because of the freshwater spring that still runs there today. If you're a history buff, this is a can't miss stop!

Mansion

By garforth2 |

Walking in , it was like walking into a southern plantation mansion, The staff was very friendly and provided any information we needed but the best part was just walking around and seeing the inside of the building

Informative employees

By ezsnoflake |

The employees here are very friendly and helpful with a lot of information. They have quite a few brochures and a small gift shop. I asked if they had any pictures of the damage from Hurricane Katrina and they let me browse through their desk copy. I would recommend a stop here when you first arrive.

Very interesting and helpful

By Mathias K |

The visitor center was very informational. They have tons of information and the front desk guy was very helpful. He gave us a lot of places to go visit and things to do. The history of Biloxi there was cool, loved to learn the history of the lighthouse!

Visiting

By Cinamngrl |

Returned after last being here several years ago. The visitors center is wonderful. The galleries tell a great story of the history of Biloxi. Wish we could have stayed longer. The staff were very helpful and answered all our questions?

Don't miss Biloxi Visitors Center

By Alice Hill |

Not only is the Biloxi Visitors Center a beautiful building, but it contains very interesting information. A must see is this video movie of Hurricane Katrina and its impact on Biloxi. Being new to the area, it gave me a first hand look at what a hurricane is capable of doing and why it is imperative to heed all warnings and excavations orders.

Friendly staff and knowledgable

By Byrdie122 |

We had a great visit. The Visitor Center has a lot of information about the area. Lot's of brochures, a small gift shop and a small room with artifacts and art sculptures. Well worth a stop in to look around. Great atmosphere, makes you feel like you are in an old mansion. The building isn't all that old but was made to appear older.

A good history lesson!

By jschroeder61 |

Staff was excellent! We spoke with a gentleman who was born and raised in Biloxi and who shared stories about the town which helped us enjoy it much more. I would recommend to anyone visiting Biloxi that the first stop should be the Visitors Center.

Beautiful building and good information!

Be sure and go to second floor and go out on to the gallery.
Great views of the gulf. A knowledgeable staff with great suggestions. Lots of FREE info to be picked up.

Beautiful Visitor Center

By Pat-FrankG |

Great center offering area info as well as offering history information. Great films on Biloxi and Hurricane Katrina. Lighthouse tour was interesting, beware of the 55 steep spiral steps, then a ladder at the top. Take your time and enjoy the view from the top!

Great information

By retiredandtraveling |

You will receive a headset with all information about the area of the building you are visiting. This information is something my family did not know about how people from another nation came to be in Biloxi. We took about an hour or more for our time there. Very-very interesting. It is located in front of the lighthouse. More info than you will see in history books. We were with others so don't have more info...Check with local to see

Beautiful building

By Nancy L |

The building is awesome. Lots of information about the area. We watched a short film and it was interesting. You can spend as much time as you want and it’s free!

Beautiful building

This is fairly new. Beautiful white building across from Sand of bay of gulf. Has many purposes ... gift shop, pamphlets/info, movie about Biloxi, movie about hurricane Katrina, museum on Biloxi and of course restrooms, very clean. People working there polite but not overly friendly. Gorgeous building inside and out. Def go to plan your stay

Worth the stop

By JeriM |

Beautiful building filled with lots of history, and also artwork from the area. I would highly recommend making the stop.

Very informative visitors center.

By James Lee |

This place has some really well put together and informative exhibits showing Mississippi and Biloxi history. You can't beat the free community coffee!

Shouldn't be number one

By Clay A |

My family went to the visitor center as it was the number one rated attraction according to trip advisor. Honestly the center was a little overwhelming. There was really no one there to give you information, just a bunch of brochures laid out and a few historical items to view. The house itself appears to be historic but apparently is just a new house made to look historic. The one person we did find to talk to at the center couldn't tell us the history of the site (I later learned apparently the site was the home for the caretaker of the lighthouse). Something to do if your bored with the beach and casino's but I wouldn't make a special trip like we did.

Interesting

By Laurie C |

Lot of exhibits about Biloxi. Very interesting place to visit. Right across the street from the lighthouse. Good view of the pier

More than I imagined

By Charles S |

This place is great starting point for people coming into Biloxi. Lots of information here for people looking for things to do while in the area. But also a great place to learn about Biloxi's history. I didn't grow up in the area, so enjoyed seeing and hearing about Biloxi's past. The workers were very informed, but not pushy so no pressure. Great addition to the coast.

Must see first stop in Biloxi

By Vince-Sherry H |

I went to the visitor's center because it was beautiful! Even though it was built after Katrina, it is built in the style of old Biloxi grand homes. I was surprised at the beautiful items on display and the amount of information available. You can see some of the Katrina sculptures and read about them here! The workers were eager to help me find just what I was looking for. I was also given information about the local historical tour - another must do activity! I picked up great maps of the entire area - very helpful! One young lady also worked the lighthouse tour that I did. She remembered me and was very happy to talk again. The short movies are very good to show you an overview of Biloxi. One is about the history and the other is about Hurricane Katrina. It was very hot and muggy outside, but the visitor's center was refreshingly cool! The restrooms were very clean as well. When walking around the next day, I went by just to cool off and get a drink. This is a must do first stop to help you get the most out of your Biloxi visit!

Great center!

By Stan D |

This is perhaps the nicest visitors center I have ever been to, and I have been to many. Aside from the people being oh, so polite, there is a store (with reasonable prices), a museum, and a second floor, all in this wonderful building. If you are in Biloxi, don't miss this place.

Don’t miss this!

By Sio82 |

Everyone who visits Biloxi should stop here! Not only a visitors’ center but a great FREE museum! Biloxi has such a long and rich history! Also, while you are there don’t miss the memorial garden outside!

Disorganized

By Ray C |

Our greeter, Victor, didn't seem very knowledgeable. He was mostly interested in passing out brochures. There was supposed to be an opportunity to get more detailed information about exhibit components but they were out of sheets. Exhibits were informative but it was not clear how to approach them in an orderly fashion. Didn't go to the second floor as Katrina movie wasn't being shown while we were there. Don't know if anything else was there.

Awesome all inclusive Best location

By Ramash K |

Best and wide visitor's brochures, the photos and displays worth the inside touring, restroom clean and yes complimentary coffee with a wonderful friendly front desk lady. Located next to the famous Lighthouse and "shrimp train tour" pick up

25 minutes to spend?

By J E |

Short movie upstairs grounding you on the area and stroll out to the balcony -- then down the grand staircase to a fast walk thru gift shop and go on your way better informed

Ugh!

By Charlie M |

I guess we are spoiled by our centers back in TN and how we treat our most welcome tourists. Seems we were an inconvenience to them.

History lesson

By Teakwo23 |

Was like going to a museum. Rather well organized. Learned a lot about the history of biloxi and the hurricanes that came though.

Informative And Humbling

By Nick W |

I hesitated to go to a visitor center, when I could be at the beach or go gambling. Yet, the reviews were so good and the day a bit dreary, so I thought I would give it a try. It is in a remade old antebellum mansion, thus you get the feel for the place. Ask for a tour phone, as it helps explain a lot. I didn't even finish the whole thing and was astounded at the amount of history they put there. My wife and I were humbled at the Katrina video. That is a must see. I knew it was bad, but the interviews and way in which it was explained was amazing. If your not sure whether to go see a visitor center, do yourself a favor and go. Well worth it.

Neat

By Angel R |

Lots of things to look at. Gift shop. Presentations going on through the day. Info available for travelers.

Meh...

By Holly M |

Entered the visitors center after being approached by a man begging for money in the parking lot. It was kind of unsettling having him watch us enter and then leave also. Nothing happened but it was uncomfortable. Anyway, once inside, it sounded like someone was giving a class upstairs somewhere. Nobody approached us, offered us assistance, or was there to accept cash when we wanted to purchase something, so we just took some (free) pamphlets and left the items.
Not worth the time but had a lot of free pamphlets and menus for local restaurants. That’s why I gave it 2 stars.

A little history lesson for my children!

By TopperTeacher |

This is not your standard welcome center. This is a free museum, a tasteful gift/souvenir shop, a theater, and so much more!

Beautiful building and great at providing information

By Dennis A |

We spent about 30 minutes talking to one of the volunteers who was full of interesting information about Katrina and the aftermath. He provided personal family experiences and valuable information about the Biloxi itself. We were well. informed by time we left the Centre. Do not miss the opportunity to visit this Visitor Centre.

Beautiful place

By MaryAnn O |

It's a beautiful visitors center with lots of information, helpful people and a true gem. The view from the rockers on the front porch and the sea breeze is wonderful.

Beautiful and Informative

By Tracey L |

We learned that the original structure was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. The existing building is an 8-year old reconstruction and it’s beautiful. Lots of mini exhibits with audio and written information. The hurricane Katrina movie was well done and we enjoyed stopping here. The staff was friendly and helpful. There’s also a cute little gift shop.

Local Treasure

By bob loblaw |

What a fine old home and visitor's center. Full of interesting historical as well as current information. Don't miss visiting this treasure. p.s., if you're staying in a casino-hotel you probably are being denied the many brochures of all the local eateries and places of interest that are available to you at the visitor's center.

Biggest House I've ever been in

By Patty F |

This is a huge, beautiful old house that has so much history to it. You can walk through and find out about the history of the town and the home places. A gift shop is on the first floor that has unique handmade items for sale. This is a place to visit when in town to not only admire its beauty but also what other attractions are out here.

Entertaining friends!

By Martha J |

Miss Billee (82) had never been to the Biloxi Visitor center so we wanted to show her a hidden gem! The museum is loaded with pictures, artifacts, boats, etc. set aside about 2 hours to watch the Katrina video along with browsing and shopping! We skipped the video as we lived through it and sometimes it just invites tears. They have a lovely gift shop from funny, inventive, birthday, and wedding gifts! I bought a T-shirt with all 82 counties of MS with a tribute to each county with celebrities or innovation. It was a delightful day! You can even pack a lunch and eat on the grounds or go across the street and view the lighthouse!

A really neat visitors center

Great Visitor Center in Biloxi !!

By DannyWasserman |

We wanted to get more information on the gulf coast area and things to do !! We stopped here for about 20 minutes and got some great ideas on what to do and how long to spend in each area. Small movie time that gives you an idea of the area as well.

Great visitors center. Lots of good info and a nice little museum with the history of Biloxi. Worth the stop.

Gorgeous.

By meongo123 |

Stopped by once again yesterday to pick up some literature. This is a gorgeous visitors center right across from the beach. Right now it is all decorated for Christmas and it is fabulous. This is a beautiful place anyway, but during this time of year it is absolutely gorgeous.

A very beautiful old style place, but it is new.

Make this your starting point upon arrival

By dah1777 |

The visitors center gave us all the info we needed for our two week stay. Make sure you check out the 50 minute movie about Hurricane Katrina. Also we were able to take a 90 minute seated tour of the downtown area in the Biloxi Shrimp Train. Carla the tour guide was very knowledgeable and really knows and loves Biloxi!

Biloxi Visitor's Cwenter

By Ted S |

Well worth the stop for people wanting local information and recommendations. Beautiful well kept old historic building with knowledgeable friendly staff. Lots of local places if interest and some unique water tours during the warmer months. Highly recommend a visit.

Nice place to see

By Tammy M |

Historical information that isn't boring, pretty building - we even considered having our wedding here. Something else to do to spend time outside of a casino while in Biloxi.

Tons of information

By Elisha M |

You have to stop here if you are visiting Biloxi. It is set up inside of a beautiful old mansion. Lot's of beautiful art work on display and several coupon packages for free. Be sure to step out of the second floor balcony and take a photo of the light house. It's has a wonderful view of the ocean from there.

Great visitors center

By OrlandoCyclist |

Situated in great old house. A lot of fantastic information on history of area, hurricanes and navy. See two of Katrina Sculpures and pick up flyer of others in area. These began in January 2007 when MDOT crews "topped" dead trees. Carvins of various birds and dolphin situated from Waveland to east Biloxi. Do not miss this visitors center if travelling though Biloxi. Lighhouse is in center or roadway in front of center.

Pleasant surprise

By Blueheron41 |

Since it's free IK have to admit I didn't expect much, but the little museum and historical family displays were well worth the time. This time we also watched the movie about Katrina, which was well done albeit so sad to see such tragedy.

Biloxi Visitor Center

By julie h |

A beautiful center in the middle of town. I rented a bike from them and they were friendly and helpful. You can ride down the main path through town and over the bridge to Ocean Springs.

When we went to the visitor center the staff was very inviting. Loved the section to read the history of Biloxi. Also, bathrooms were clean. We will visit there again Summer 2020.

Whats going on in town

By thomasalcornjr |

you can find out whats going on in town here, other than casinos. I came to find out where the various casinos were in town but they had no maps or casino flyers. they did however have loads of information about other things to do in town, I:m glad I stopped in here.

Make this your first stop in Biloxi.

By sherrywenta |

Beautiful facility with very interesting historical displays presented in a very unique way. Knowledgeable personnel, nice gift shop and clean rest rooms.

A must stop

By KathyandKenny F |

A beautiful mansion across from the lighthouse. Actually, this is where you get your tickets to climb the lighthouse. They have a gift shop and show films on Biloxi. The helpful staff can answer any questions you have about Biloxi. They have many pamphlets available for places to see and visit.

Also a Museum

By djohns |

We had time to waste so dropped in to get some info. Receptionist was so nice and helpful. Museum is informative about the Biloxi area. Mostly reading, pictures and a few videos. OK for adults, but think kiddies would get bored quickly.

Neat old buulding

By al w |

We went to get some information on activities in Biloxi. We ended up staying for quite while learning about he history and diversity of the city I would recommend spending some time here and learning about Biloxi!! Awesome

Great self tour and info

Very nice visitors center. Tons of free info and videos you can sit watch and enjoy. Also some rock n roll memorabilia even hangs on the walls!!

Worth your time

By AjaxTheWonderDog |

This is a lovely facility and very educational. It’s totally worth your time. It does require stair climbing (I don’t remember seeing an elevator.). To do justice to this wonderful city, do something besides stay in the casinos.

Slavery in Mississippi's history? What slavery?

By Mimi M |

I need to report back on The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.
* First the good. I give the additional dot above the minimum possible for the lovely and warm receptionist, the beautiful building, and the free entrance (including audio wands).
* Next, the bad: The receptionist billed this as a "museum". However, there were nearly no original artifacts, and instead just non-original drawings made for the purpose of this display, e.g. a manufactured drawing of a Frenchman and a Native American. The only original materials were some clothing of a local military guy, from the 1960s or thereabouts.
* Finally, the ugly. Here I am, in a museum, in Mississippi, the state that had the greatest enslavement rate. How much discussion was there of slavery in Biloxi and the Gulf coast? A lot? No. A little? No. A tiny, tiny bit? Nope. There was zero discussion whatsoever anywhere of slavery. I was stunned. So I went to the gift shop, which had lots and lots of books. And I asked for a book on the history of Biloxi, or Mississippi's Gulf Coast. I was genuinely curious to learn how slavery played out in this part of Mississippi that had much less (or maybe no) cotton production compared to the Delta. The shopkeeper searched and searched and found not one book that would cover the history of the 19th or 18th centuries. Wow. Just wow.

More than just a visitor center

By Diane01S |

Beautiful inside and out. Stroll through the building to see the beautiful architecture, and unique art. There is a nice little gift shop, but use cash for your purchases as I heard a person being told there is a surcharge to use credit or debit cards. Be sure and go out the front doors to the porch to have a fantastic view of Biloxi lighthouse and the beach.

Great introduction to a beautiful city

By Bob D |

Wonderful house right on the Gulf. Chocked full of information and history of Biloxi and the surrounding area, Mardi Gras dresses and gowns are on display. The staff are very helpful. It's a great way to get introduced to a wonderful city. Biloxi has so much more to offer than casinos. Casinos are great, but there are museums galore explaining the area.

Lots of info

By kEtrp709 |

Great place to stop to find out all the things to see and do in Biloxi. Beautiful old home, lots of local history. Many maps and brochures available. Worth a visit.

Learn about Biloxi & Hurricane Katrina's impact

By hopalongrving |

Great place to start your journey in Biloxi. We were humbled by the video about Hurricane Katrina's impact in Biloxi, MS. The walk through exhibits were well thought out and showed the pride of the city. Expect to send at least 1 hour at this location.

Also if you want to tour the lighthouse this is where you buy the ticket to do so, the lighthouse is only open 30 mins a day so plan ahead.

Plenty of parking available at the center, RVs can fit with ease.

The fog

By zandramarie |

It was foggy the hold time we were there and raining the hold time. We wanted to walk on the beach but it was raining.

Great stop to find out places to go and things to do in the area.

By lovetotravel |

The statue out front had on a mask. Too funny. Very helpful staff and some nice art/photography. Lots of good info.

By Zman |

Glad we stopped. People were very friendly and helpful. Talked a lot about the area including historical points. Also recommend a number of places to visit.

A very beautiful building that housed an information desk and lots of brochures. The "museum" was ok.

Great Deals on Local Artwork and Crafts

By Nianya |

We stopped at the Visitor's Center upon arriving for our vacation in Biloxi. We were very pleased to find that they have exhibits for local artists and a gift shop with awesome local artwork for sale. We are huge fans of local southern artwork, especially artwork which depicts scenic locales and local wildlife.

The Nicest Visitor Center I Have Seen

By 2doglady |

The Biloxi Visitor Center is a first-class center. It is clean, spacious, and a great looking building. You can obtain info about the area, shop in the gift shop, go upstairs to see the film, and walk out the doors upstairs to see the lighthouse and beach for some great photos! There is also a display room with some Biloxi history on the first floor, too. You are allowed to park here and walk across the street to the beach, passing the lighthouse in the median along the way. Recommended stop.

Fantastic visitors center

By JohnandJana |

We went on Sunday when we got into town. Unfortunately (although not really...) the city had one lane of road closed due to having an air show (fantastic!) that was going to start at 3:00 off the beach. How lucky! Anyway, we stopped at the Center which was open. They have a lot of information, displays upstairs also (has an elevator) and a nice gift shop. Beautifully decorated. When we asked if they had a viewing area, they told us that the had a second floor outdoor balcony that we were more than welcome to use. There were very few of us there and it was great viewing! Thank you ladies!

Helpful

By Steve A |

Lots of info, received a great recommendation for lunch! I would recommend all visitors to Biloxi stopping by here before venturing out for great information and recommendations.

Family Vacation

By erinf450 |

My kids enjoyed the welcome center. The building was neat and provided lots of information. It is right across from the beach and located in a central location.

UNIQUE VISITORS CENTER!

By ginnyt608 |

This is one of the best visitors centers we have ever visited in any State. It is located right on Hwy 90 in Biloxi, across the street from the lighthouse, and the building looks like a plantation house. It has all the information you could want on the Gulf Coast in the area, a Gift Shop, and on the 2nd floor is a theater that shows a film on Hurricane Katrina and its affect on the Biloxi area. The documentary was informative and well done.

Worth stopping in

By cannylass2 |

A beautiful building. A nice stop to get information about the area. It is an easy walk to the ocean and the lighthouse.

Beautiful Location

By Sandy M |

What a beautiful place! Directly across from the lighthouse and looking out to the beach and water. Inside there's a small gift shop, art gallery, and brochures galore for all area attractions. Definitely worth a stop.

Perfect in every way!

By rpiotrowski_2000 |

They offer the visitor information on EVERYTHING in the area. Great friendly staff with lots of knowledge. Stop at the Biloxi Visitors Center first. The area has so much to offer other than the casinos and buffets.

Very Impressed

By mario v |

The visitor center is very welcoming with very friendly staff. They Kindly show you what to do around town and all the best places

Helpful Staff

By Shannon K |

This was one of our first stops with our son as my husband and I came without our children on a previous visit. The staff was friendly and very helpful in selecting activities for our family.

Fancy!

By KK78 |

This is the fanciest visitors center I've ever been at. The exhibits is well done and supplies interesting information on the area and Biloxi hometown hero, Astronaut Fred Haise. Go upstairs to see the ballroom and for views of the lighthouse from the second floor balcony.

INTERESTING!

By Megabill |

This was a nice afternoon stop. The house looked like an old southern mansion, with a big porch with chairs to sit on. Inside was a small gift shop that was not so junky as the souvener shops, and had better merchadise. As you walked through the halls there were displays of the early settlers. There was a short film on the wall of the destruction of Katrina (AMAZING) In the lower level was showing a two hour film of the history of Biloxi that I would have liked to see but my wife said NO! In the lobby area was a sign in book. The entry above ours was another couple from Wisconsin. Paging through it were entries from all over the world. The staff were very helpful. It was not very crowded so you could talk with them. There was a rack with flyers of all the local attractions , restaurants and real estate magazines. If you go to Gulf Port check this place out first.

Amazing Visitors Center!

By adrianna24sings |

Such an impressive visitors center that's located in a wonderful building. The staff was so kind and helpful. There's lot of valuable information here, plus complimnetary coffee and extra clean restrooms. There's a small museum and a lovely place to sit and rest. This house is a stunner. Right across the street from beautiful beach. Biloxi Visitors Center is excellent.

Vistors Center

By kavanderplough |

This was a nice way to spend time away from the casinos and learn some of the history of Biloxi. Really enjoyed going through this center.

Very well-done exhibits

By Joyce K |

We enjoyed the art and the theater with a short history of the area. The display of who & how Biloxi was settled was very interesting. We would recommend this for your visit. Unfortunately the pier was washed away from the hurricane.

antebellum beauty

By pam k |

Such a beautiful building, lots of information to look at about the area, and they run a movie about Katrina's impact on Biloxi. Worth the trip.

Excellent

By Charles P |

This is an above average visitor center with local history thrown in. It is in a beautiful new building along the beach. They have all the visitor info you need, a large display of local history and a movie on the second floor.

Excellent starting point for all things Biloxi.

By OPMaster1978 |

The Biloxi Visitors Center is located in a beautiful building that has some architectural features of a mansion from the Antebellum period. The staff are very friendly and there are many brochures and flyers available offering information on nearby attractions, restaurants and shops. At the rear of the building is a small, but informative museum documenting the history of Biloxi and the various groups that have contributed to the city over the years. This is a good first stop for any tourists who are planning on spending time in the area.

A Biloxi Treasure!

By jtutor31107 |

This is a true treasure full of many treasures to see! It offers an historical journey as well as a look into what is happening today! It has a great gift shop full of local artists’ works! Don’t miss it and while you are there, visit the historical lighthouse!

More than I expected

By Cautela |

I wish I had started here when I went to Biloxi. I enjoyed the quaint everything this place had, including the fact that it is a southern plantation-style house from that era, and well thought out mini-museum of Mississippi history. It was also free, but they accept donations. There aren't many obvious signs to tell you what it is, so it felt like an exploration find; we literally only entered it because we parked on their parking lot to take pictures of the lighthouse across the street.

Enjoyed our stop

By Zman |

Very helpful. The lady there was a joy to talk to. Explained a lot of the history of the area including the military base located nearby. Very helpful in pointing out areas of interest and places to eat.

moving experience

By PogoIdaho |

The center was rebuilt after Katrina and the markers of water height during the storm surge are mind boggling but the video inside is extraordinary and certainly emotionally moving. Highly recommended.

Great place for info

By Hilda S |

This is a must go place when you visit Biloxi. Everyone is so very friendly and help. They have a film to see about the damage Katrina did. Bought me to tears. If you want to know what to do in the area, this is a must go to!

Beautiful place in Biloxi along the beach side...

By Mariah Honey |

The Biloxi Visitors Center's like a concierge desk for directions, ticket sales, pamphlet suggestions and gift store... And the worker was a complete sweetheart. She reviewed and highlighted a map full of destinations for us to visit. Then, she asked me where I was staying and what I wanted to do on my trip here.

She gave me a present. It's good for some free stuff with my purchases around the city. I got to keep the map and she gave me a guide magazine too.

Loved checking out the history of the city of Biloxi as well as the gorgeous structure of the home itself.

The Visitor Center's is a beautiful place along the beach side.

I live in the area and attend events at the Visitor Center frequently.

By MJM |

I always encourage out-of-town visitors to go and see the exhibits at the visitor center. They are SO well done. You can learn a lot about the areas history and culture... and there is MUCH to know... and it's FREE! They have a lot of printed tourist information and a fun gift shop. This is a MUST stop... if you are in Biloxi.

Beautiful building. Perfect location.

By LJ C |

We were so impressed with the elegant building housing the visitor center. Inside we were in awe of the ten food doorways. The center offers a walk through the history of Biloxi in the displays.

Ho hum

By tdumdei |

We visited the visitor center based on reviews we saw in Trip Advisor. One of the reviews said you can spend 3 hours there. I can’t see that. We spent less than an hour; maybe 30 minutes. There are a few interesting things there, but wouldn’t stop again.

By 149nick |

The staff went above and beyond to help find you things of interest in a friendly manner.
Movie of Katrina was interesting

Great stop!

By TOOTRAVEL5 |

I would have rated this an excellent stop if we had gotten better customer service. They could have been having a bad day. My husband and I were discussing different things we were thinking about doing, seeing and places to eat. The two ladies at the desk never offered ideas, suggestions at all. They didn't acknowledge us at all.

Everyone in this area was soooo nice and helpful. We found this to be very unusual.

There is a film upstairs on the area that is very interesting.

LOCAL INTEREST INFO!!!!

By ZeroBoxes |

This place is full of stuff to see and do. Today we got the hold a baby alligator from a local farm. Hats and tee shirts, paintings, pictures are available. Flyers for all the local events are available. You can even go upstairs and talk with the Biloxi Bay Area Chamber of Commerce executive director if you need some guidance to local businesses and could coordinate a conversation with local photographers if you need local touristy family pictures. DO TAKE THE TIME TO STOP IN….

Hidden Gem

By Amanda S |

I've never been to a more interesting and informing visitors' center! We spent two hours in there looking and reading about everything...taking pictures of the informative pieces, drinking the free coffee, used the very clean fancy bathroom haha! We wanted to watch the film about Katrina, but we weren't there during show hours. Definitely recommend this, especially if you're looking for cheap/free things to do while on the coast!

Nice place

By chan_Tross |

It was a great visit on a windy winter day.
The place offered more than I expected.
A lot of sources of information packed into very pleasant forms.
The theater was nice. It almost like we visited a nice museum instead of a visitor center.

Cute shop and little museum

By CruiserIllinois |

Cute gift shop and nice little museum about the history of the area. Nice and cool place to go on a hot day.

Visit at Biloxi Visitors Center

By KJun2018 |

Exhibits were excellent.
Hostess was very pleasant and helpful. Offered us many ideas about what to do and where to eat.

Gorgeous facility

By Georgeann R |

This is a replica of a coastal mansion that is beautiful. We did not have time to enjoy all of the exhibits, but what we did see was informative. The staff were extremely helpful. The gift shop offers a variety of items at prices more reasonable in price than other places we visited. It is a must see for visitors to Biloxi.

We make sure all our visitors go here

By mystri |

This is a great way to get a feel for the Gulf Coast .. Good presentations, friendly staff, well informed and willing to share their information. Like the title says, we get a lot of visitors and we make sure one of the first stops in our "tour" is the Biloxi Visitors Centerr.

Great view of the lighthouse

By Conrad J |

The visitor center is a great place to learn about the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The people working there will answer any questions you may have. View from the front porch is worth the stop alone. Nice gift shop and good interactive display of the coastal area.

Nice stop

By zachandlaura |

The visitor center was very beautiful. It has pretty leaded glass in the upstairs portion. It was very clean and has a gift shop.

Check the dates on the coupons!

By Sally S |

This is a beautiful visitor center. They also have some really nice multimedia exhibits that really help to enrich any sightseeing done in Biloxi. However, most of the flyers I picked up for coupons were outdated. Plus when I asked questions I got the barest of responses without any additional hints or history. We spent just under an hour in the visitor center.

Must see

By Cutejembird |

I presumed it would give us information about local attractions. Oh so much more. Film on katrina. Local residents gave their in depth version on how it affected them. The beauty of the center is awesome. Offer headphone to give you details about items on display. Learn about memorial garden

You Must Go!!! You will Miss Out Some Get Money Saving Coupons

By Al J |

I have been to Biloxi many times but have never visited the Biloxi Visitors Center, I can kick myself for not going before now. The people and so friendly and helpful and the visitor's center is a small museum in its own right. There are interactive displays, movies and lots of items to see. Make sure you go on the second floor and go out onto the balcony and take in the view of the lighthouse and the gulf.

Lovely museum inside- check it out!

By srmtx01 |

Very helpful attendant who suggested tours and restaurants in the area. Browsed around the museum as well located inside. Lovely grounds.
