Our family just went there to see the Christmas lights. It was so beautiful we will definitely be back next winter, and even in the summer!

Well worth a visit, lovely gardens with plenty of shade on a hot day. Food preparation for the Cafe is very small, restricts what they can offer, especially as they have excellent seating area outside well shaded. However what food they had on offer was welcome and good. We went there after visiting Cowtown, it was hot so Botanica was very pleasant to visit.

What follows are the Top Ten Reasons I have found to go visit Botanica:
1. Letting a child run off steam. This is an ideal location to take 2 to 10 year olds in an effort to get less stressed out. A twenty minute walk around the grounds will do wonders for your attitude and be a completely unexpected distraction for whatever child you might be hoping to distract.
2. The live music nights where you can take a picnic OR buy food from the vendors they bring in. Awesome on all the levels - the food rocks and the music is top shelf.
3.

This is a gem in Wichita that just keeps getting better. Somehow I never knew they'd added the Chinese garden in the past 2 years, and so I was delighted to experience that with a group of 7 women recently. This group was from across the US and a couple from Europe, and they all seemed to enjoy it. They were particularly impressed by the children's garden. The Gardens have such an amazing volunteer network and the gardens are always in tip-top shape. And each season is equally beautiful. One thing I remember from the past that I missed this time was a plant called "Bed of Nails." I'd love to see that brought back. It was by the water gardens. It may have been in amongst the lily pads. Otherwise, great work. It's beautiful and a place of refreshing. Thank you.

This was our first time to Illuminations at Botanica! It was amazing all of the beautiful lights! This is a must see for all. They had lights to the music. There was live music, food trucks, and hot beverages for purchase. They also had heaters throughout so you could warm up. We will definitely be returning! I would highly recommend this outing to all. You will not be disappointed!đâď¸đ

If you're just looking for a nice place to take a walk, this is it! It's pretty, and it's a good value.

I enjoyed my recent visit to Botanica. The grounds were breathtakingly beautiful. I loved all the statues and fountains. Gorgeous gardens filled with flowers inviting their small animal visitors to pollenate them. The butterflies were all really pretty and it was fun to watch them fly around in
the butterfly house. I think my favorite garden was the Shakespeare Garden. Delightful colors, marvelous floral arrangements with a range of delightful colors.
Walking about the grounds was very tranquil and serene. I can see why brides choose such a wonderful
location to say I do. On my visit they were preparing for a wedding and caught a peek of the bride and groom taking their pictures before the nuptials. The Chinese Garden of Friendship provides a stunning backdrop to capture wedding memories that will last forever.
I was excited to see the restored carousel in the indoor pavilion. It's absolutely beautiful and I was glad it was brought back to life to create happy moments for families. Great place to spend the afternoon.

I love Botanica and all the flowers and butterfly house. Now it has the restored carousel. The Christmas Holiday Light are tremendous!

Botanica is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon just relaxing. The gardens are beautiful and change constantly. Sit and enjoy or walk through the many paths, it's up to you. But it is a genuine pleasure to visit.

Mother's in free , good idea. It was packed at our arrival at 1 p.m. There was a iris show and lily sale show of sorts .
Good deal on lily plants. Was beautiful iris . The grounds were very nice, labeled well and nice paths.
A worth while visit and enjoyed by all ...
Add to must see when in Wichita , KS

The garden seems to be made keeping in mind of young kids and adults. The area is not very much vast compared to other gardens, but they have managed to maintain well the plants and a decent butterfly pavilion. In our previous visit 5 to 6 years before, everything seemed to be fairly new throughout the garden, whereas now many of the things are being worn out.

This is a fantastic place for ALL ages and they always have seasonal events going on. The childrenâs areas provoke the imagination and give kids plenty of things to do; we always have to drag our children away. We love it!

May be a little bias since we have a 1+1 annual pass, and have had for years. Enjoy going from spring to early fall and usually illuminations. Enjoy most when flowers are in bloom starting with bulbs, then roses followed later by summer flowers. Several times have asked staff gardening questions and they have been very helpful and friendly. Not crazy about the Chinese garden but I think its mostly for events. Seems that there is always something new, even if only a small change.

I will say I did not plan to visit in the spring; however, the benefit is several cities in the Great Plains have amazing botanical gardens that were in bloom. The one in Wichita was the largest and most diverse and simply beautiful. It is located near several other museums in Wichita like the Old Cowtown Museum, Art Museum and the Mid-American All- Indian Museum, in the land between the Arkansas and Little Arkansas Rivers.
I visited when it first opened at 9:00 but there were also several school groups there. Fortunately, it is big enough to be alone even with others there. I started with the Chinese Friendship Garden which was you see as your enter the parking area. It is very well done creating small individual garden spaces complement with Chinese themes. I then visited the spring highlight tulip area. While the docents said, the bloom had peaked a couple of days before, it was amazing with the color, volume and diversity. I can not imagine what it must have looked like before.
I then walked several of the other gardens as well as children areas like the train sets. While some of the more native areas had not begun to bloom it was impressive to see them and you could tell they would be right for other times. I highly recommend a visit here, especially if you are here in Spring.

The gardens are beautiful. I love to stroll through gardens and this one is an excellent one. But the real highlight is the childrenâs garden. There is a place for them to plant and water plants. I am sure they run childrenâs programs here as it is well set up for that. Then there is a magical forest for them as well. A fanciful treehouse, built with imagination and children in mind, large musical instruments, a little grotto where children can âpaintâ rocks with water, friendly-looking tree monsters, etc. create a wonderful playground for children. We had no children with us and yet we totally loved that section of the garden.

The kid's place is kind of neat if you have kid's but don't expect amazing gardens. I was very disappointed.

It's been so mild for December that the weather was beautiful for us to view the lights. Everything was so pretty. The kids really enjoyed it.

Love going to Botanica, great people, great venue, great views.
For over 30 years, this has been a gardeners love.

Hands down, this is the most beautiful and friendly botanical garden weâve visited anywhere in the U.S. From the lovely and whimsical Chinese gardens with many koi fish to feed, to the formal gardens, wooded areas and the newly restored and incredibly gorgeous carousel, this place is simply awesome. They have a wonderful area for kids and scattered throughout are animated giant insects, so fun for photos. Pleasant, meandering walking paths take you to all the different areas. We were able to have a guided golf cart tour during their autumn festival, fantastic experience. Wish we lived much closer to Wichita - weâd visit every week. Two very high thumbs up for Botanica.

Great pleasant trip with the kids. Kids area a fun & entertaining. Gardens are beautiful. We love going to see the roses.

Botanica is a wonderful place to go and leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind for a little while. It is very peaceful, and the gardens are beautiful. They have a great kids area too. Christmas is not to be missed. Beautiful light displays and hot chocolate. Can't get much better.

We try to go to every garden spot in the cities we travel to, and this one did not disappoint. The lady who checked us in was so friendly and sweet, and the gardens were very pretty. We liked the children's garden and the Chinese Garden best, but all were lovely. Very hot in the Wichita sun, but still a nice time!

We've been here twice now, and each time was lovely. This time was for a school field trip. We ate our lunch inside on the patio. Their educator was amazing with the kids! She kept their attention the whole time.
The children's area is large, and kids can wander all over the place. There is so much for them to see/touch/hear/smell/do. They have musical instruments, a play place, a place to 'paint the rocks' with water. My kids enjoyed it thoroughly.
Taking a walk around is peaceful. And you're in the middle of Wichita, but you wouldn't know it. They have so many hidden areas to explore...little boardwalk, a butterfly garden, benches set up throughout. The groundskeepers have done a great job with the planting and keeping the gardens in pristine shape. Our next trip will involve a picnic and relaxation here!
If you get the chance, come at Christmas. The lights make for a fun date night!

This is a must see in Wichita. The gardens are something to see...very beautiful and a calming aura when you arrive and walk up the pathway to the entrance. Something to see for everyone !
During the summer they have music on the terrace !

Afternoon visit ended up staying till closing time. Nice layout with enough places to get away from other people and enjoy the flowers and plants. had a good time.

The park is beautiful with winding paths and themed sections. The park features a Chinese garden to the front of the park with large Koi fish which can be fed via a pellet machine and sitting pagoda. There are various lego sculptures throughout, each with a description of how many pieces it took to complete, usually reaching several thousand. To the back of the park, there is a butterfly house where several species of butterflies can be found. If you're lucky, there is a station where chrysalis are kept and you can watch a butterfly hatch and take its first flight. The overall park isn't very big and can be seen in a couple of hours. There were external cafe's, but they were not open when we were there. Inside the center there is a gift shop and also a children cresh.

One of the best small gardens in the country! We have been members for a very very long time and used our reciprocal membership to visit many many other gardens! The new children's garden is wonderful and tulip time is fabulous!

So much in bloom - shaded areas and water features to keep cool. Visited with a friend from England who has her own lovely garden. She thoroughly enjoyed it. Beautiful!

Went to the Festival of Lights at Botanica with 3 generations of family members. It was an amazing number of lights all in one place. Very festive and fun on a brisk winter evening. Everyone had a good time lots of things to climb on for the kids and some entertaining changing light sequences set to music.
Everything is outdoors, bring gloves, hats, & scarves to bundle over coats. Wear warm shoes.

Wichita Botannica is a great place to visit and take a leisurely stroll through beautiful gardens. They also have a wonderful children's garden where the kids can have a good time playing. Under construction is a new area for a Carousel. There are also venues that can be rented out for parties and receptions. During the Christmas holiday time, they have a light show called Illuminations with over a million lights some synced with music.

I was not very impressed with this for the price. Granted it was cold, but my son had fabricated some of the flowers and we wanted to see them.

Botanica is a wonderful garden setting in the middle of an urban jungle. Between the butterfly house, the Downing Children's garden and the wonderful shady paths and gorgeous plants/flowers, there is something for everyone. There are activities for members and we never miss the Lights at Botanica during the holiday season. My grandson looks forward to it every year.

My friend and I visited Wichita, so we checked out the Gardens. We visited in the fall and there were still lots of pretty flowers in bloom. Their Chinese Garden of Friendship was unique and nice. They were decorating for a wedding when we visited.

This is a beautiful, hidden treasure. Even in 100 degree heat, most pathways are in the shade, flowers blooming and fountains and ponds to reflect that beauty. Butterfly house, a carousel, and a children's area with an indoor/outdoor beehive keeps it interesting for the kids. It's a beautiful and restful interlude with nature and the beauty of Kansas.

We are annual members of Botanica. We attend their summer concerts. Visit the Gardens with friends. Love the Butterfly house. Visit the always impressive Winter Holiday "festival". And so on.

We went to Botanica at Christmas time to see the lights. What a beautiful place to go for lights and exhibits. Some of the lights were set to music. It was beautiful and enchanting. Will definitely go again and we plan on visiting in the spring and fall to see the colors!

It's a wonderful place to go see what's blooming and the great way everything is displayed. The children's garden, scent garden, model train layout ... There's just so much to see.

Wichita's Botanica is a horticultural masterpiece. It is also one of this city's hidden gems! The plantings are beautiful and well-designed and carefully maintained. There is something to be enjoyed and appreciated by all ages. One's senses, emotions and overall well-being can be enhanced by time at Botanica!

We are so lucky to have a great place visit for relaxation, a nice walk, a place to take kids, all good, very kind staff and beautiful trees and plants everywhere!

A very sceren place for a wedding! Afterwards we walked around and sat on a bench by the Lilly ponds and watched and listened to the bullfrogs. The lillies were fabulous!đ¸

We visit Botanica every time we get a chance. It's a wonderful garden, beautifully arranged. The children's garden is especially delightful, with stuff to pound on, places to hide away and a sliding hill with artificial grass. The butterfly house was undergoing maintenance when we were there, but in previous visits it's been a special treat.

Visited during time decorated for Holiday season..So very many lights, so well designed to thrill all ages. Streams of shoulder to shoulder fans of lights! The figures, the music. The hot chocolate & the âoohs!â Of children made the evening such a delight. A âmust seeâ, in season. If you come late-year, pllan to see or you will missed a glimpse of this greatly city!

Beautiful gardens - so many different varieties of plants. Landscape architecture hardscape was surprising and different. Offered lovely amount of shade. Fantastic kid's area - so creative and interactive. Even if you don't have children - you must visit this area. Also, don't miss the Japanese garden! Lovely ladies that ran the ticket booth were very helpful. We visited in October and while there were many species to observe, they had the area decked out in Halloween and some areas were blocked off for special events.

Each visit at Botanical Gardens has been great! Our favorite times have been to see the butterfly exhibit, the roses when they are in full bloom, and the luminous lights in December.

Over the previous few years, I've visited this place a few times. It's always enjoyable. Amazing plants, creatures, and sceneries. fun for both adults and children. Sincerely, I'm considering returning soon.

These gardens are wonderful. The map you receive when you purchase your admission is quite helpful. There are 15 huge lego sculptures scattered throughout. Each is titled, dated, and has information that gives you the number of pieces used and something about the actual sculpture. Other surprises include an operating model train set and wonderful children's area with plenty of activities that are educational and participatory. The musical instruments are particularly enjoyable. My wife and I spent about two hours strolling through the paths and reading many of the informational placards. One fascinating display was a butterfly house. There were a large number of butterflies freely moving about in a fabric covered enclosure. It was fun to watch them and to read about how they differ in diet and description. Highly recommend. We both enjoyed the Chinese Garden and the Bird area.

We went at the end of the summer, so it was not the premier time to visit - mums were just coming out. It was well maintained and there were places to sit and enjoy the plants.

Came here for the fist time last week. Very pretty for being in the middle of Wichita, KS. I've also heard that the illuminations during Christmas are awesome.

We had an amazing time it was beautiful and so much fun for the family . The play area for the kids is so cool even my husband and I played in it ha ha ha. The butterfly room was beautiful and the Chinese Garden was wow ! The Chinese garden is small but amazing. I know they are saving money for a merry-go-round I can't wait to see it when it's finished! I highly recommend you go to the botanica I fun place for the family and amazing for pictures.

We had some extra time in Wichita and decided to go to Botanica. It was an enjoyable choice. The gardens are very nice. Lots of interesting plants and flowers. We enjoyed the gardens with fountains a lot, as well as the lily ponds. The butterfly house was good too. We went late in the afternoon, about 90 minutes before they closed. It was pretty quiet, not a lot of other people were there. A musician was warming up for a wedding, playing very relaxing music. It was a nice bonus.

Botanica is a peaceful oasis in Wichita, except when there are special events like Illuminations when itâs hopping with action. I visit frequently, alone or with friends and family. There is always something new to give me ideas for my own landscaping. Highly recommended!

Visit was in fall 2021: I could have stayed all day but only had about 3 hours. Loved it! All age friendly! Throughout were mechanically operated large wildlife to add to enjoyment. Had an area specifically for kids. Sitting outside at the Koi pond was so relaxing I probably could have taken a nap had others not wanting to enjoy the Koi. Gift shop was fun! Friendly lady in gift shop gave a wonderful history of the carousel and other art. Parking was easy. Staff so courteous and helpful. Will definitely go back if in Wichita again.

Halloween colors & decorations are always good in Oct. Xmas decorations are always good too. Worth the trip in Oct & Dec for sure. The butterfly garden is great in the spring and something to see. Handicap accessible. Paths easy for walking. Clean bathrooms. Nice people there as visitors too. Gift shop is worth a peek too. Good clean fun!

the lights display was magnificent. there was something for everyone, and every age. Buying the tickets on line and shuttle buses made for an easy experience

We were looking to break up a 5 hour ride, and this garden looked like a good option. It was easy to find, affordable and amazing! Very well kept with beautiful displays. Well done!!

Went with coworkers Had a wonderful evening filled with good music, good food, and great friends. The setting is awesome and I feel that we are very blessed to have something like this in our city.

We had a lovely morning at Botanica! There are multiple gardens with a large variety of flowers and shrubs. The gardens are beautifully manicured! Amazing statuary! Friendly staff! Plenty of benches to sit and enjoy!

We enjoyed the gardens. Everything was very neat and clean. The Lego art was awesome. There is also a butterfly exhibit you can go into and see them flying around.

Maybe too early, but really seemed to lack all the beauty of years past. Iris show was very nice. Bulbs were for sale at a reasonable cost.

very tranquil. a wonderful walk and not too overwhelming. enjoyed feeding the koi and Lego exabits. definitely recommend this area when visiting

This is an excellent botanical garden - a must see if you visit these types of places. Well laid out, excellently maintained. Very peaceful way to spend a few hours in nature.

Every year between Thanksgiving and New Year, Wichitans enjoy gorgeous illuminations event in Botanica Gardens. With over two million colorful lights, every corner of the gardens becomes part of magic kingdom. If you visit Wichita this time of the year, come to Botanica. You will not be disappointed. Children, adults, youngsters, people of all ages love Botanica Illuminations!

This was our first year to attend the Illuminations event before Christmas and it did not disappoint. We went on a night that was a but rainy, so there wasn't a big crowd and we were able to park close to the entrance. Lots of hot drink and food options scattered throughout the park. Several chimeneas also going so there were opportunities to warm up our hands as we walked around. There are so many beautiful light displays and my mom had no difficulties maneuvering the park with her walker. This was a great family outing and will likely become a new annual family tradition.

Don't miss the huge variety of flowers blooming through the spring and summer. The whole family will enjoy the experience - be sure to stop by the children's play garden.
During November and December, don't miss Illuminations where the gardens are filled with thousands of Christmas lights and music. Also, a great venue for weddings and special events.

This was very nice. They have a butterfly house. Lots of very plants to be seen from around the world. I think the best part was the herb garden. I enjoy cooking so it was really nice to present to my guest all of the different herbs used in cooking. We were allowed to take some of the leaves from the plants and experience the aroma the can produce.

A great place to walk around for an hour or two; it is excellent for kids; the flowers and scheduled programs are excellent

Nice gardens, with some cool areas for kids to play. Was peaceful on a weekday afternoon. Otherwise, nothing special; could benefit from more curation and care.

The volunteers were working throughout the garden getting planting beds ready for the spring and summer visitors.
Many varieties to look at; a small cafe; koi fish ponds; walkable paths; benches for relaxing. A newer Chinese Pavillion is enjoyable too. Parking lot was full; and some school field trips were happening..Lots of activity.

Our family loves this place, relaxing and quiet, with nice flowers and a well attended Asian style garden. The "farm" is also nice. Good spot for few hours enjoying outside

Very Romantic and a perfect day for a walk.
I suggest an Early morning before the Heat. Stop along the way and pick a favorite Flower or plant.

our 2 daughters really enjoyed it here. there's a huge section for kids to play and interract. They really didnt want to leave. My only complaint was that the butterfly exhibit was inexplicably closed for the day.

My family and I went last year, so we decided to go again this year. The lights are still just as amazing as last time! Definitely would recommend going with family, friends, or even on a date with your special loved one. My family and I have decided to make this our new family tradition.

This isn't a very large place but what they have is lovely. We walked through it in a little over an hour (did not go through the Children's area). They have lovely koi in 2 separate areas (really the best koi ponds I've seen in a long time). We also liked their Butterfly Pavilion. We would definitely recommend this for a quick stop and look.

I was here in the winter and unfortunately many of the plants were not alive (not that I was expecting them to be). I recommend going in the summer when everything is probably in bloom.
The grounds were really nicely laid out and there are a lot of sectioned gardens and areas, like Shakespeare and a birdwatching area, and even a pond where you can rest for a bit and feed the fish pellets from a little machine (costs a quarter).
What's still great to catch in the winter are the birds and the animals. For children, there is a musical park that is a lot of fun. Even with everything kind of dead, it is still a beautiful and relaxing walk to explore the gardens.
It is a driving distance from downtown where many of the other attractions in this town are, but a great place to visit if you can get a ride. Only about 10-15m away from downtown.

This is a nice place to go for a walk. We got a season pass so we can go all the time. On my last visit, it was fairly quiet and very pleasant. Great if you want to get out of the house and see some nature.

My grandson LOVES going here. The army of volunteers were busy planting mums-which will be beautiful in time for their annual fall festivities. Go!

My family and I were in the Wichita area for a family event and we were looking for one tourist activity to fill out our time. We wanted to tour the Frank Lloyd Wright home but it was closed so we decided to try Botanica: The Wichita Gardens. We were amazed at what a great choice it was. Having visited botanical gardens around the world we did not have great expectations for a botanical garden in a city with a population less than 400,000. But, WOW, were we surprised! All five of us (all adults) thoroughly enjoyed our visit. For me, one of the special things was how well all of the plants (grasses, forbs, and trees) were labeled.

Becoming World Class Gardens. Year long visitation of beautiful gardens and associated areas, with buildings available for meetings, weddings, or whatever. Luminaries between Thanksgiving and New Years attract many thousands of people.

We liked the lego dispaly of differnet itmes in your yard. Birds, lawn mower, animals and so much more.

We were a bit late in the season for this visit, but I enjoyed the gift shop just fine. Wichita does a nice job with their attractions.

I always like botanical gardens. They show local plants and plants from around the world and beautiful combinations. This botanical garden is child friendly. They had dinosaurs that move in various parts of the garden to entertain children.

If you like flowers and stuff it is a nice place to spend a few hours during the week. Not really my thing here but my wife enjoyed it thoroughly and had a great time. So points with the wife = 4 stars from me!

We took our 4&6 year old grkids to Botanica twice: first in September to see all we could (esp. the butterfly area) and then December 31 to see âthe Christmas Lightsâ, on a bitterly cold evening... it was the only time we could get away to go. Both trips were awesome, and even though we left exhausted (& cold in Dec.) the kids wanted to stay longer. Beautiful gardens and breathtaking Christmas lights. Kids and we loved every second of both trips. Go!

When we got to the garden the carpark was pretty full given only been open 10 minutes and there was a short queue to get in. Its not a huge garden and we straight away realise that, of all things, there is a Lego sculpture exhibition on. Very much a distraction from rest of garden as there was so much of it.
It is quite family orientated with a carousel and large play area. It was only $8 per senior entrance, pleasant but surely not worth the #5 best in country (USA Today). As you can see I took more photos of the Lego than the garden.
We skipped the butterfly and bird gardens but managed everything else in about an hour.

This is a nice garden but it seems small, but that might be because I grew up in a much larger city that had a huge botanical garden. Once you have seen it that is pretty much it, not much changes in terms of new things to see. We usually only go now when there is an event going on like the tulips in March/April or Illuminations in Dec.

Our son is in his High School Jazz Band and they always play at Botanica during December. The lights are always amazing! I love the synchronized lights in the big meadow area! Everywhere you look is something new to see! They have smores and hot chocolate available for purchase. There are fire pit areas and chimineas burning that give it a cozy smell. There is so much to see! It has become a family tradition that helps us get into the Christmas Spirit .

Many types of plants and flowers. Although we didn't have children with us, this would be fun for a family. Lego sculptures, a play area, and a children's area. Enjoyed the experience!

I had been to botanical gardens almost for every big event of the year. Friendly staff, family-friendly location, the lights and light dance in the winter is top-notch. In spring you will enjoy the natural beauty of the place. Beautifully bloomed flowers, fresh and crisp plants to enjoy. I definitely recommend visiting if you are in Wichita or around.

Attended an event here with friends and it was very well done. The gardens are nicely laid out, flowers in bloom everywhere, walking paths with seating here and there if needed. Cute little butterfly house. Free parking. We enjoyed our time here.

Wonderful way to spend the day with the family. Before Covid we did the Christmas light event too and it is a must.

I had only been here for the holiday light exhibit (which was awesome), but I had family in town so we went on a Monday morning. The kids area is excellent - very interactive, they could climb, play musical instruments, follow the yellow brick road, water plans and see some beautiful flowers. The library inside is nice too - we definitely appreciated the air conditioning, but the tree house and reading/puzzle area was a huge hit with the 3 year old and almost 2 year old I was with. This is a great place to wander around for both adults and kids and the pricing is very reasonable in my opinion.

The pathways in parts of the gardens are narrow and they cram so many people in there during the illuminations event that you canât even see some of the setup because of the wall to wall bodies and strollers. Kids were crying because the Santa line was ridiculously long, the snack snacks were understaffed and places in a couple areas that made the traffic flow even worse as the line built awaiting purchases. Definitely was not worth the money we paid to go see.

I liked it. the lay out was great. it was a bit small. but overall a nice place. I would go back. bw

A wonderland of nature! Great place for family or couples
There is always something going on that should interest most people

I am pretty obsessed with taking pictures of flowers so visiting botanical gardens is one of my favorite activities when I travel. Not as huge as somewhere like Butchart but just jam packed with amazing blooms! I love tulips and was so lucky to be there when they were in full bloom!! And so many varieties , some were huge! And I loved the varieties that looked like they were fringed, don't think I have ever seen that kind before! Quite lovely paths through wooded areas too! Very cool Chinese Garden. Just a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

No surprise why Botanica is so highly rated as something to see in Wichita. We spent about an hour and a half walking throughout and enjoying all the beautiful landscaping. So many plants were labeled, making it extra enjoyable. The Chinese Garden is very peaceful, but I think my favorite part of the gardens was the extensive children's area--good play, exploration and educational opportunities for all ages of kids.

Really beautiful in late spring when everything is blooming. Good stuff for small kids to play on and get pictures of them. My granddaughter really like the butterfly house...me too! âş

Such a great place to walk around and be surrounded by beauty. My friend and I thought we would only be there for an half hour at the most but was pleasantly surprised that it was additional hour later. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and took plenty of pictures. It was worth it to visit and the best part it was only $9 for adults. Think everyone - young and old would definitely enjoy it.

2nd trip annual trip to see the Botanica for the holiday lighting. Music and sights were wonderful. Good weather really makes the event spectacular. Volunteer staff are very helpful

Worth the money and time to visit Botanical Gardens Christmas illumination festivities. The whole family can enjoy the walk through and make sure to bring cash no debit or credit cards accepted by the volunteers.

I love gardens but the Wichita Botanical gardens were out standing from all the water works to the butterfly house a very great place to visit

Have always loved Botanica. It is relaxing to ramble though the gardens and just enjoy the environment. Our out of town guests were impressed. No matter what season, beauty abounds.

A very pleasant way to spend an hour or two. The horticulture staff do a phenomenal job keeping the flowers and foliage well groomed, The exhibits are well maintained with an impressive array of plants. The staff is also very knowledgeable on all aspects of the Garden. While no where it size of Butchart Gardens in Victoria, But well suited to Wichita. It close location to Wichita's Cow Town Museum is a bonus as well.

The most enjoyable sights and sounds included birds, the early-flowering trees, "bulb flowers" up and brightly showing their spring colors, dusty purple lenten roses, and trees proudly showing their spring-green new leaves. We all had fun, due to the botanical wonders and family time. Perhaps too many structures/buildings, but hopefully the botanical wonders will be preserved and emphasized. It is great! A gem in the museum district of Wichita, Kansas (Our choice is usually outside at Botanica).

We always enjoy going here and the kids have fun in the childrenâs garden area. A seasons pass is well worth the price.

This was our first visit in a few years. Always beautiful and ever-changing with flowers blooming at different times. No two visits will be the same. We went early last Saturday and it wasn't too crowded yet. The new Chinese garden is very nicely done, it may become our favorite section. There is a Tuesday evening summer concert and cocktails series starting soon, looks to be a nice after-work wind down time.

Beautiful garden and a wonderful experience. So changed since I was last here. Was great to see the Joyland horses on display.

The Chinese gardens are beautiful. The childrenâs garden was a lot of fun for the grandsons. The roses are in full bloom. Just beautiful.

All year round, no matter the time of day this place is perfect to clear your head. The month of December is especially beautiful, because of the assortment of Christmas lights that literally light up the sky.

Christmas at Botanica was absolutely breathtaking. The lights were astonishing! They offered a great Christmas atmosphere like right out of a movie. Popcorn and hot chocolate was available upon purchase. (minimal cost) Very family oriented. Don't miss next year if at all possilbe.

I had some afternoon free time on a Thursday after a business meeting and made a trip to this wonderful botanic garden. The grounds are well laid out and there was plenty of things in bloom in mid-May to see. I loved all the statuary and sculpture they have intermixed into their gardens. I especially enjoyed the rose garden. You could smell the roses as soon as you stepped into that section of the grounds. Truly heavenly. The ladies working the front desk were very friendly and knowledgeable. For only $10 entrance fee, it can't be beat, especially if you love gardens like I do.

I go there at least once a month. They have a very nice children's garden area my grandkids love even the teens like to go there. This is a real Wichita treasure. The new Chinese garden area is first class and there are many activities. We attended a beautiful wedding there it is a good and beautiful venue for many events. I recommend it highly.

Visiting my son at WSU for Easter weekend and looking for something everyone could enjoy outside since it was such a beautiful day. Came across this recommendation in our search and it didn't disappoint!!! Absolutely beautiful flowers all over - tulips at every turn! Nice gardens with benches, waterfalls and flowers to stop and enjoy nature. SO MANY beautiful flowers here!!! There was even a children's garden which was perfect for our youngest who's 10!!! Lots of hands-on activities for the kids and beautiful scenery for the adults. Turned out to be a great pick for Easter Sunday afternoon family time! We'll definitely be back next time we're in town!!

The beauty was everywhere. Gardens were divided into themes and all plants were labeled. There was a children area that adults enjoyed as well. Invitation to play the chimes and climb the tree house was perfect for pictures. Best of all there were areas of rest and meditation. A few hours worth every minute.

Not only good place to see in summer but Illuminations is a must see during the holidays. Literally millions of lights. Its amazing

Extremely busy on Mothers day, didnât realize it was a free pass for Moms!
Fun to walk trough because they had some food and drink businesses set up in the garden. Lots of music going on too! Very enjoyable then it started pouring rain! I had been praying for some rain for our parched earth so it was a perfect Momâs day gift!

We really enjoy walking around the butterfly garden. The train set is also very fun. But our favorite is the Illuminations. Great job guys!! Thank you for giving Wichita something beautiful to see year round.

While I am a mechanical engineer by education, I appreciate this place. The gardens are beautiful, there is a children's garden that is nice, and the Christmas Holiday Lights Display is NOT to be missed! Indeed, that lights event is not to be missed. I look forward to returning to it with the grandchildren, every holiday season.
The center's central building offers story-time for preschool children on a weekday morning, and it is well run & educational.

Drove down from KC to Wichita for my brother in laws wedding. It was a lovely venue. I also liked that we could walk freely around the gardens as the reception was going on. Very helpful since my youngest was only 2 and only wanted to see the fish. It helped entertain him until the music started (so he could dance). As we walked around, I got some of the best pic of him in his little tux among the beautiful botanical garden landscape.

Went there for a Mother's Day outing. Flowers were beautiful and had a wonderful day with family. Great displays and extra vendors in the area where snacks and things are for purchase. My daughter made a sugar scrub from a vendor, and loved making it, and using it.

Botanical never lets me down. It's always such a serene peaceful place to walk through. The volunteers are a great , friendly group of people that never fail to teach me something new every time I go . Tuesday's on the Terrace is a fun, relaxing atmosphere where you can bring your own meal or buy a meal there. They have fun, live music to perform while you eat , walk through the gardens or visit with friends. This is a great date place as well as a family adventure with events all year long.

During summer the flowers are awesome very peaceful you can take a lot of pics and during winther i love the christmas lights.

Went the other night to the Legos display and the flowers were top notch and the evening was perfect. This is a hidden great spot in Wichita that not enough people go to. I sure don't get there often enough and when I go I am always delighted.

Botanical is a beautiful place to visit year around. It is very well-maintained. There is even a play area for children in the back. For every season there is something different to see. There are always activities on the calendar so visit the website for more information.

We have visited twice at different times of the year and were able to enjoy different seasonal plantings. Beautiful park and wheelchair friendly.

Excellent place. The grandkids especially loved the butterfy exhibits. They also liled the tree forts.

This is such a great place to get together with friends or just come on your own. Can be meditative and a great get away for a couple of hours. The scenery changes with each season. They also have noon time educational opportunities. A must see.

It may not be the largest botanical garden in the country, but it's definitely one of the nicest. This is a MUST SEE during the holidays when the entire garden is decorated in millions of lights!!!! It's breathtakingly beautiful.

There is so much to see that you really should explore all areas and gardens. There are lovely fountains and koi ponds. Hundreds, if not thousands, of plant species.

A beautiful setting with easy paths to follow around the entire property
A great variety of plants trees shrubs and flowers are grown for visual pleasure. This includes a pond some water gardens with Koi

Beautiful spot for wedding or party. Beautiful gardens but nothing changes except gimmicky stuff...Not worth the entry fee except once...Get better gardens taking a walk through Riverside or College Hill neighborhoods in right season and it's free plus beautiful architecture.
Walking trails along river require 3+ to use safely any more...
Well times stop at Dyck Arboretum or Belle Plaine Arboretum much more quaint and authentic.

Botanica is easily accessible by car or Uber from old town hotels. The park is well organized, offers a wide array of plants - flowers, shrubs, trees. It has a beautifully planned lotus garden, with a Chinese dragon wall separating the gardens from the pagoda and lotus pond. Along the way, another pond with koi. Very friendly staff and volunteers. All plants are marked with names. For kids, there's a small train town, with what looks like replicas of Wichita architecture from a past century. A lovely destination for adults and children for a sunny afternoon.

During Christmas time, there is no better place than botanica, it's a grat place to bring the family and make their kids live the real Christmas time...

The gardens appeal to all ages. Our group ranged from age 5 to age 82. No one was bored. It's easy to see in one short stay. There is plenty to linger over for longer periods.

This is a wonderful gem off the beaten track in the City of Wichita. We spent an afternoon wandering the different gardens and had a wonderful time. Friendly staff and volunteers.

Iâm not a big garden person, but my husband and I were looking for some things to do in Wichita. It was better than I thought and we had a nice time walking around !

It was very early in the season but we were amazed at the variety of plants and trees that we found were already growing. Some of flowers were blooming. The variety of trees was amazing.

Every year, my entire family goes to Botanica to enjoy the christmas display. It will get you into the spirit of the season. Its absolutely gorgeous and a family tradition.

Wouldnât go back, over crowded & you have to buy tickets for almost everything. Not worth it to me, having to park far away and canât walk on the grass that is dead etc. Would rather drive and look at them.

Botanica is a wonderful gem in Wichita, KS. Must go to in spring, summer, fall and very special lighting throughout in December. Something for all ages!

Our picnic lunch from Botanicaâs spacious patio enabled a gorgeous view of giant blooming tree and shrub varieties. From the Shakespearean Garden to the Childrenâs Garden (where the former âJoylandâ carousel is being restored and soon to open) we accompanied all ages of friends and family with everyone in their âhappy placeâ. The gardens shimmered with pizazz from thousands of bloomers. A highlight was the hive where millions of industrious bees deliver their nectar as the queen busily lays thousands of eggs while guarded by bee attendants. A fascinating bee-expert answered our questions and told stories from her vast knowledge while sharing honey samples, beeswax, and other collections. She read books aloud as children colored pages about bees. Botanica rolls everything out as a serendipityâalways something new to view and knowledge to gain. From the summery Butterfly House, fluttering with all the growth stages, to wintry âIlluminationsâ with millions of twinkling light displays, Botanica ever-grows with sights to behold in every season. Every year, we get to purchase exotic Tulip bulbs, Iris rhizomes, and other end-of-blooming seasonal plants for about a dime each. Adorned with exploding beauty, winding along acres of walking paths, breezy flowers seem to happily wave as we nestle with a book in a quiet space, observe model trains, engage in music-making, traipse through Chinese Gardens, gaze into the Water Gardens, and watch fountains bubbling over excitedly in the âoohsâ and âahhsâ of delighted onlooking guests of Botanica which never disappoints.

This place is amazing to see. Each time you visit it will be a little different. I highly recommend you visiting during Christmas time to see all the lights. I can't imagine the amount of work that goes into that event each year.

Never would you expect see such fabulously designed and varied gardens in a city. So well kept and the variety of flowers, plants, trees is amazing. Loved
The newest addition , the Chinese Gardens. Well done Wichita Kansas. Well worth the visit!! Will come back in different seasons. And the butterfly house is wonderful!!

This place is beautiful. And so worth the time and money. There were still so many flowers in bloom and tons of butterflies. The gardens were amazing but we really enjoyed all the interactive displays (probably intended for kids but it was not at all crowded the day we went so we got to do everything). The water features were beautiful and train display very cool to watch. Would very highly recommend as a top if youâre in Wichita.

I would go back and see the lights again. Very cool. It was also neat that you could eat and drink there too. Fun place!

Have visited this place on several occasions and different time of the year and it's ALWAYS beautiful. Ive been on single visits just to be quiet and take a peaceful walk in the beauty, visits with a few friends for a special event they are hosting and I've been on school sponsored trips. They take advantage of the season and the weather and make the most of it. There has not been one time that I've visited and been disappointed yet.

This place was beautiful. We took a walk and ended up here. What a beautiful place to go. If i lived here i would visit all the time.

I love Botanica! It is beautiful in the spring with all the flowers...just a nice place to walk through. They also have the Downing Center that is wonderful for kids to place in..my grandsons love the tree house!! complete with it's face!! The absolute best time to visit though - is Christmas! They put up thousands of lights, complete with music for them to dance too - serve hot drinks and of course Santa makes his appearance. If you are in town over the holidays - you have to go!!

Beautiful flowers, bushes and trees and full of color all the time. Great atmosphere, easy parking and very easy to get around while in the gardens.

We took 70 students to the butterfly garden to study life cycles. The Garden worked with us rotating three groups around. Next time we want to slow everything down and have lunch there.

We have been several times. We love April for Tulip time and also May for Iris. The various gardens are so well tended and every month is something special. The Tuesday nights are also fun with music and special events. Halloween and Christmas at the gardens is the best! Lots of family activities.

My wife and I stopped in here while visiting family. Very beautiful place with floweres in bloom, lots of ponds with blooming water flowers, a nice butterfly area. Very inexpensive 5$/person for a solid 2 hr walk around. They also have a beautiful kids area

Amazing garden for a community this size. It is wonderful to watch the changes through the seasons. There is always something blooming.

Don't miss the holidays music and lights show. A great night visit during the Christmas season. To partially avoid the parking problem because of the large number of visitors, consider taking a party bus tour that includes the Garden, such as one from the YMCA. . Large bag of popcorn for $2. A good evening!

Anyone with an appreciation of all things nature has to show us with what it grows and blossoms can be found here. Beautiful place for a stroll or to let the kids see many types of horticulture fruits of labor and learn a little about our indigenous plants and flowers and see them all at their majestic bloom.

The Christmas lights at Botanica are absolutely gorgeous. Spectacular. Inviting. Peaceful. Perfectly synchronized with the music. New adventure around each curve in the sidewalk. Definitely a MUST see.

Very nice gardens. Loved the Chinese garden with its dragon fence. Cute children's garden also. Gardens are well maintained and there are good signs on the flowers and greenery. Lovely mum quilt square.

I love to visit Botanica for lots of different events: for catered luncheons (which are great) and for weddings (lovely) and my favorite time of the year for a winter holiday visit is Illuminations in December. It's cold and crisp time of the year illuminated by thousands of light displays. It is a wonderland that you can't miss.
Botanica is a place where I love to return to see all the new and interesting. A must see is the Chinese Garden of Friendship where you can wander endlessly and enjoy the scenery. Each individual display is like entering another "secret garden". Visit Botanica.. you will love it.

If a place to visit if the rain has not tore the flowers completely into shreds and it is nothing but mud

We love this place! Gorgeous gardens and my kids love the children's garden, it really makes the whole experience if you have children in tow! Great place to wander, play and explore! Pack a lunch and stay awhile. :)

We went to Botanical in December for their annual Illuminations Christmas Light display. It is so beautiful as you wander through different sections of the park with different lighting themes and music. It is really the best display I have ever seen!

Always changing, beautiful gardens, with fish, butterfies, trees and stunning flowers. A wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

The gardens are always evolving with stunning flower displays. There is a great interactive childrenâs area, seasonal activities, and family and couples events year round. You do not want to miss Illuminations, where the gardens are aglow with extraordinary Christmas season light displays. You might find something fun in the gift shop, or enjoy a snack at the cafe. Various levels of yearly memberships are available for an affordable outing for all ages.

Stopped here tonight to see their christmas light special known as illuminations. It was amazing seeing all the lights and hearing the music. There were places to get smores and cookies for the kids to adult beverages including hot toddies as well as coffee and cappuccino. There was even a place to see Santa and tell him what you wished for christmas! It was a very nice time with loved ones and highly recommended for all. Elderly and disabled will be able to view most everything and there are even shuttles to botanica during the season. There are several buildings toi enter to warm up as well!

We really enjoy walking the gardens through out the year. Each season brings something new to look at. We like that the gardens are adding new areas to see.

This garden is magical! Our kids were super happy they had a traveling LEGO sculpture exhibit. The kids area is really cool. Make sure to stop by the bee house. A friendly lady there gave us a wonderful educational talk for half an hour that was so informative and interesting. The butterfly conservatory was neat and had plenty of butterflies. Donât miss the Chinese garden that is tucked off to the north. We saw a great blue heron hanging out near the koi pond! There new carousel addition looks like it will be super cool! (Opening Fall of 2019)

Botanica is an excellent place to spend a couple of hours. It is very well thought out and for those who love gardening, its a great place to get some good ideas. The volunteers and the employees do a wonderful job. The Childrens Garden is a favorite place for my grandkids to go.

Walking the trails in Botanica from China to Toyland is a repeated new experience as seasons pass and new ideas flourish in arrangements and colors. Activities inspires through a cup of coffee and music in the summer, but well dressed on a winter night when stars glimmer in the cold and the luminarias lighten the path is like entering and adventure garden, so I wish I had more stars to give....

Has a childrens garden has demonstrations and programs.
Just added an oriental garden that is worth the time to stroll through

With approx. 20 acres of property, Botanica Wichita is one of the smaller botanical gardens my wife & I have visited. But the gardens are so jam packed with beauty along curving paths & tucked away in hidden spaces that you really need to grab a map at the check-in desk to see everything. We expected to spend 1 hour max strolling the grounds on an early Saturday morning, but we ended up staying well over 2 hours & we still missed a few spots. Botanica is staffed by very friendly people, the grounds are immaculately kept, and the variety & creativity on display could easily compete with much larger garden facilities around North America. We would definitely return to Botanica-Wichita, and we will encourage others to enjoy it for themselves.

I love this place. Every part of this garden was amazing. Every themed garden set itself apart from the next it was a wonderful day spent exploring. Even the kids garden was fun to play around in. Definitely visit the tree house!

Best ever and I have been to many others in past years. Lights and music much improved. Parking always a challenge but was handled by attendants very well this year.

Great grounds with lots to see for the whole family. My son loved the children's garden, my daughter the butterfly garden, and I loved the size of the flowers. Everything looked so healthy.

Great gardens with lego figures thoough the park. Great colors and smells. Discounts for seniors and military.

Very nice set up, some areas had shade with benches to sit and rest in we went when it was very hot, people were nice, waiting in line because they only had one person taking money could be better having more people doing that. Parking is okay but if you get there early, don't park on street as long as you wait in line to get into parking lot then enter you are good.

I took my preteen child who loves butterflies and some friends for a special birthday trip (not a formal party). We went first thing in the morning when they opened at 9 AM and left about 11:30 before it got too hot. They enjoyed taking fun pictures throughout the gardens, butterfly and snail watching in the Butterfly house, playing and doing free activities in the children's garden, watching the koi fish splash around in the Chinese garden and chilling out in the library behind the cafe in the air conditioning. We brought along a little snack picnic including cupcakes since they are a little old for the official big hosted birthday parties that are available there. It was a very successful summer birthday expedition.
They did mention that Thursday admission is only $3 and Thursday evenings through the end of July they have family activities in the evening during their extended hours. I think that sounds like a fun option to checkout!

Beautiful place. It was very hot when we went but we didn't feel the heat bc the shade of the trees. The children really enjoyed it.

We visited during Luminations ... Christmas lights and Carousel. It was amazing and so beautiful. This is great adventure for families and couples. The snow on the ground made it even more beautiful. We've also visited in April during the tulip festival, which is also beautiful.

Hidden gem in Wichita. Great place to go and spend a few hours. Each season is different, but pre-Christmas is "Out of this World"

The Gardens were gorgeous and peaceful. The flowers were absolutely beautiful & colorful and the landscaping inviting.

This place is awesome for a family outing, a field trip, a date or just a quiet lunch by yourself! They offer amazing educational programs, seasonal attractions and some of the best dinner/entertainment activities around! Botanica never disappoints!!!

A very well kept botanical setting. The entry fees were reasonable for seniors $8/pp and were well worth it. We located all 15 LEGO statues scattered around the park and several were in ponds. Beautiful flowers, statues, butterfly conservatory and even a childrenâs playground and a hands on area to entertain them. We spent 2-1/2 hours walking through this beautiful area. Wish we had something comparable in our area. Iâd visit it several times a year.

I was pleasantly surprised by how wonderful this garden is! It is tucked away so you must seek it out, but it is so worth it! Even in the heat of summer, things were well maintained and there was plenty of variety. There are many benches in lovely shaded settings scattered throughout. I was alone but went to the children's area just out of curiosity. I'm so glad I did- it was incredible- so much for kids to see and do. The butterfly house actually had butterflies. (I've been to many that don't.) The walking trails are great and would accommodate strollers or even wheelchairs. The Chinese garden, though small, is very artistically done and has a well-stocked fish pond. There is another water area with more lily pads than I've seen anywhere else. There are also many nice bronze statues interspersed among the flowers. On top of all this, the cost of admission is very reasonable!

Botanica gardens is one of the best places to visit in Wichita. The gardens speak by itself creating an ambience of relaxation. This isnthe perfect place for a private party during spring or summer. Many activities during the year are being created for the community. You must go visit Botanica Gardens.

We live out of town but still have a membership as weâre in town often enough to benefit from it. We love going just about any time of year. Spring is obviously a great time, but summer is fun with the childrenâs garden and soon to be carousel. If youâre in town it is definitely worth a bit of a relaxing stop to check it out.

This place is beautiful! Itâs a great venue for meetings, too. Stop by for a stroll when visiting the Riverside area.

We have been to weddings at Botanica, we've been there for their Christmas displays. It's very well kept, and they have activities for the young and old all year.

Very nice, peaceful and quite place to spend an afternoon. Very nicely set up, great displays and variety.
At least when we visited the options for drinks and food were limited which is a real shame as one could easily make it a whole day there doing eating and drinking, reading, having coffee.

We visit several times a year. The gardens are organized well. There are a variety of walking paths. A relatively new oriental garden is of special note, as is an adjacent area focussed on young children. For sheer beauty there is no better attraction in Wichita.

Great in all seasons. Christmas lights by the millions in winter. Spring, Summer and fall flowers. Much more.

A beautiful botanical garden easily located within 4 miles of the zoo! The children will love the fairy gardens in the woodland walk as well

Great place to visit anytime of year! Spring had wonderful blooms, awesome light display at Christmas and great for visitors of any age! Very affordable too, we have a membership which is redeemable at many other gardens in the US.

This was a real surprise! Huge, beautiful gardens with tremendous variety. Excellent pathways throughout.
We were there in October, and there were decorated pumpkins everywhere! So terrific to see, and there must have been hundreds and hundreds of them.
Not far from Keeper of the Plains sculpture, which is another beauty to see.

Really beautiful and peaceful place to stroll on a lovely day. Loved the flowers, the Chinese Friendship Garden, and feeding the koi.

We went to the garden today. It was good. I have been to better ones. It might have been time of the year but not much color. No butterflies. There was nothing wrong with the staff but they didn't go out of their way to have any interaction. A little bit disappointed.

Not too big and not too small. It was hot when we visited and I was apprehensive about visiting. It was great with an area for children including a carousel. The gardens were well kept and most things well concentrated. I liked it despite the heat. Wear a hat and stay in the shade when possible.

I had a business meeting here in the garden view room. Great location. Our group even toured the gardens. Great place to visit.
On Tuesday's in the summer they have Tuesday's on the Terrace with live bands. It's a must!
During Christmas time they have an amazing light display. Another must attend!

The Lotus room was wonderful for the chamber music concert I attended. It was set in the Japanese garden which is very lovely. The Lotus room would be great for weddings also.

I've been to the Botanica Gardens many times over the years...and I was so impressed with the detail and thought they put into the Children's Garden! It truly made me feel like a kid again...and I'm no Spring Chicken! ;-) It made me dream of 'Never Never Land' in the Peter Pan stories of my youth. Also, the Chinese Gardens are so beautiful and so peaceful...I could stay there for hours...at either garden section. Botanica as a whole is so beautiful and peaceful, if I could afford a yearly access pass I would. I've been playing with the idea of volunteering out there, but haven't worked my time out yet. We'll see! It's an 'must see' experience should you come or live in Wichita! Thank you for all of the volunteers & workers that tend there!

Every year the Parade of Lights at Botanica is worth the time and money to go see. We try to go each year; each year we go, they never disappoint. My kids are now teenagers and they still love it :-)

A gorgeous ever changing display of flowers and plants well arranged along with walking trails and sculptures. Many great programs throughout the year.

if in wichita during good weather, this is a great place to spend a couple of relaxing hours. nice layout, with beautiful trees and flowers, water, forest walking paths and birds. not large, but worth the $6 entry fee.

Thank goodness, we got to got somewhere that tired out my children. There did have so many activities for children, I have three Children so it was a bit more then I expected. I would only do it once. And bummer we that we didnât get a chance to see the statues. It was Halloween, so there were all dressed up. Bouncy house, princesses, face painting, petty zoo.

We toured Botanica to see the Christmas Lights Monday night. Important reminder: allow enough time to see it all. It was beautiful! Fun getting my photo taken with Santa.

I came to Witchta expecting to find the Wichita Line Man Experience or the Wizard of Oz Museum. Instead I found this is wonderful calm space, expertly curated and arranged. Definitely worth a visit. I wish I'd had more time.

nice day out Restaurants close by gentle walk lots of places to take a rest great coffee with gifts etc

This garden is much smaller than the one I'm used to. It is well kept, has decent signage and a wonderful area where kids can play. There is water they can wade in, water they can play in and a cave-like area that can shower them with water. There's also a "tree" they can go up into, and a smaller tree with "fairies" sitting in and around it. Music can be made from some of the other items further down and the barn-like area is nice for exploring. It does lack a place to get refreshments and lunch, though. We had no children with us, but we still enjoyed the area. Oh, and when we were there there were electronically moving dinosaurs lurking everywhere and 2 trains moving around 2 tracks. Nice place.

The garden was beautiful. Is more kid focused somehow, maybe is because we went on summer.
Staff was ok, when we got there she didn't even greet us and was chewing gum.
We bought tickets online to save time but when we got there military is free Admission so that was a waste of money.

Great place to walk with a cup of hot coco and look at lights, listen to music with friends and family

Great place to go with the family especially if you have little ones with extra energy to burn. They have a Bug Event going on right now (May 2021) and have huge bug statutes all around the grounds as well as different booths you can visit and learn more about bugs.

The botanical gardens in Wichita were a pleasant surprise. Easy to get to with GPS, not overly pricey, and very large with lots of variety. If you enjoy gardening or just like being outdoors, highly recommend stopping here

I went here off season (without the flowers in bloom) but it was still beautiful. It felt like a hike through the woods and the bird area was great. I didn't find the butterflies though. The children's area was really cute and fun.

Our stock at Botanica gardens was an unexpected treat. I personally would say this is one of the best botanical gardens that I have visited in the United States and Iâve been to quite a few. This is a great place for young families and older tourists alike. I kept thinking to myself of how my parents would have loved to of visited these gardens. Amazingly almost all of the species are well marked, and the grounds are kept meticulously, clean, and gardens groomed . It includes Chinese, butterfly, children, and general gardens. Thereâs something to see here for almost anyone.

Beautiful and lots to see. We enjoy gardens and this one was a jewel. Well laid out, staff was friendly and helpful. A must visit.

Despite it being late fall, there was much to see and enjoy at Botanica and Wichita continued to amaze me with all there is to do and see. I especially enjoyed the Childrenâs Garden. It offered some wonderful activities- the maze, the drums, the chimes and bells. Absolutely delightful and what children need to engage in. The tree house was also terrific. I hope if I return to Wichita itâs in the spring-Botanica must be pure magic then!

Bontanica is beautiful year round. During the spring, summer, and fall the flowers are amazing. At Christmas time the light display is always outstanding.

We stopped by Botanica on our family vacation in Kansas. We loved the gardens, and my kids loved all the children's garden featured, and played for hours! However, the cafe was lack-luster and had below average service.
We stopped in and went to order juice and my 3 year old jokingly said she wanted a milkshake, and the cashier of the cafe rudely said 'no sugar here, we only sell things that are *GOOD* for you' - uhm okay then... we then waited 15 minutes to recovered very watered down juices and I ordered a beekeeper, which was disappointing as well.
Would visit the gardens again, just skip the over priced cafe and healthy judgement

Go at your own pace, in a hurry and your fine, want to take time and take it all in, your fine. Been to a lot of arboretums and this is one of the best.

We had a Christmas celebration this evening here and it was fantastic! This is a beautiful place year around but the Illuminations is a must see! Dress warm and brave the cold.....I promise you will not be disappointed!

Botanica is always beautiful, no matter the season. This is a wonderful place for catered dining. They have a butterfly house that is very cool.

I haven't been to Botanica any time except for the Christmas celebration. It is beautiful with all the dancing lights. Santa is there to see the kids. It's an awesome time. Highly recommend it. There's fire pits around on those cold nights so you can warm up a bit before moving on.

You can easily spend a full day at the Botanica. They have multiple childrenâs gardens, a Chinese garden, carousel, outdoor dining area. What donât they have? Brochures and maps!! If you have to get out in a hurry, you are out of luck!!! Why, folks, why?

We visited the garden on June 5. There is free parking at the entrance of the park. When we were there, there were figures made with Lego blocks, including an information board with the properties of the animal and the concept that the artist had in mind. Most visitors will find the butterfly house the highlight of this park. The large fountain was not working.

Beautiful well manicured gardens with lots of well appointed types of flowers. Prettiest rose garden we have seen in years. We travel to lots of gardens and this rates toward the top. Spent 2 hours roaming around!

We really believe this would be an excellent day out in spring, summer and autumn. Unfortunately, we visited in Feb when the garden is deciduous and all dead for the season. Our mistake - just a warning to others.

The rose gardens are always beautiful when they are in bloom also the irises are amazing and the Tulips but just walking through the Wooded Path can be very calming bring a lunch and a blanket and it's a perfect place to have a picnic also.

This is one of my favorite and amazing gardens, and I visit many. Many highlights, such as the koi pond and unique fence, the variety of water lilies and color, the butterfly garden and many fountains/waterfalls. The most unique and incredible design was the children's garden. I didn't have any children with me, but wished I had! They would think it was a delight! I did!

Had a wonderful time. We walked around the garden for about 2 hours and had lunch at the cafe. The garden is simply amazing. The cafe had good food at reasonable prices. The volunteers were very helpful and friendly. We also had the pleasure of meeting the director, Marty. He was very kind! I highly recommend this place. It is a must see!

We thoroughly enjoyed this garden. It had a lot of variety with a children's garden, Chinese garden, a small lake. There were places to sit and enjoy and yet see it all in a half day.

Botanical is a rare jewel in our city. We visit several times a year but always as a family on Mother's Day. We take a picnic lunch and enjoy it on the terrace. The children in my family include 4 grown children with spouses and 11 grandchildren ranging in age from 23 years-1 month. There is something for everyone to enjoy. The Downing Children's garden is a great place for kids to have fun. The butterfly house, in season is loved by all. I love the rose garden in the spring and summer. There are so many areas to visit please go and check it out. Also, don't forget illumination during the holiday season. It is beautiful.

We took our grandchildren to see the Christmas lights at Botanica. The lighting was incredible. It was an amazing experience.

Super place to visit! Even in bit June itâs nice because of all the shady spots to rest and take in the Kansas beauty.

I was traveling from out of state on a whim and out of all the places I was hoping to see while in Wichita, The Botanical Gardens was at the top of my list.
To be frank, I've never actually been to a Botanical Gardens before, but the one here is absolutely gorgeous. I'm no botanist, but there's a wide variety of flora all throughout the gardens in different sections.
Beautiful fountains, a butterfly garden, gorgeous floral arrangements, memorial statues, quiet alcoves, lilly ponds, a koi pond, and much more await you here. After a long year of stress and anxiety, being away from everything for a few hours was therapeutic. I'd definitely recommend seeing it for yourself if you're in the area.

We were lucky to be there at the right time and saw the tulips. A lovely, peaceful place which caters very well for children. Easy access for all. The carousel was being built, looking forward to seeing it next time we go. We also visited the Chinese garden, that is beautiful too.

This lovely place was the setting for my granddaughter's wedding. Even though it was still March, there were thousands of flowers blooming throughout the garden, including dozens of varieties of tulips, daffodils and hyacinths. It was a very warm day with a pleasant breeze. The actual ceremony took place in a small auditorium and the reception was held in a nearby glass pavilion overlooking the koi pond. Perfect setting for any celebration. There was also a Train Garden, where a large scale model train set was laid out among flowers and shrubs. Especially nice for the young couples with small children in tow. There was also a gift shop and, of course, restrooms, which were kept very clean. I hope to return some day, in a different season, and view the garden more fully.

My two year old had fun watching all the colorful lights in December. Super cool and great for kids. They had a lot of attractions too.

Not very big, the childrens playground is cool to look at but we went when nothing was in bloom, so judging on looks. Basic garden but good to get a walk in and let the kids play.

Would highly recommend the Gardens as a place to walk around and relax. Experience nature the way it is supposed to be viewed. We enjoyed all of the butterflies in the gardens. Plan to spend several hours walking around.

While visiting Wichita and its wonderfui Wichita Art Museum, it was suggested that I visit Botanica. It was late in the flowering season but, regardless, the flowers that remained were stunning and the layout of the gardens enhanced the experience. While not large (like the Missouri Botanical Gardens in St. Louis), it is large enough to have over a dozen garden areas, wandering pathways, beautiful trees and much more. If you are in Wichita and you like gardens, don't miss this one. And it's easy to miss as you drive through the park in which it is situated. I didn't find the signage very good and had to ask for directions. Still, worth it!

Went last night with my family and was amazed!! It was like a Wonderland walking around the gardens. My kids and my wife & I love the children's gardens. The smells, activities, & the sights were all amazing! We will absolutely be back. Tony at the front desk clearly loves his job and it made it more enjoyable for all of us. Please give him a raise or a garden named after him.

The only thing I had to compare this to before visiting was the best botanical gardens on the planet (Butchart Gardens Vancouver Island Canada). I didn't have high expectations of what I would see here having seen the best in the world..... but Wichita can be very proud of this botanical gardens. It is beautiful. It is large enough to see a wide variety and species of beautiful plants and it is simply a beautiful place to visit. I highly recommend it.

These are the best gardeners in the area. It is amazing what they can do to produce gorgeous plants. I love to take a leisurely stroll and see the changes of the seasons.
Add a fun filled children's garden that is nothing short of wholesome fun, and it makes the perfect family getaway.

The entire evening is a walk through a lighted Christmas wonderland. The walkways are lighted with thousands of luminaries, softly guiding you through lighted sculpure after another. Just when you think you've seen everything, you walk into field of musical lights, about the size of a football field, the lights dance, glimmer and shine in time with favorite Christmas songs. This leads you into a childrens wonderland of lighted story book figures and around the corner, hot steaming cider cafe for the entire family.
THe best winter evening with family you will ever spend

I love this place, especially at Christmas time. It has a banquet room for special occasions and also a gift shop.

Beautiful gardens that change throughout the seasons. Great spot to spend a day walking around and enjoying nature.

Beautiful, serene, ever changing. Kid's zone is a fun adventure. It's not Christmas without visiting it thousands of lights, a Wichita tradition.

I went to the Botanica Gardens with my family as we do every year. They have some pretty amazing Christmas light shows and entertainment. But the only reason I'm not giving this five stars is because they don't have any decorations for Jesus or the nativity scene and they don't play any songs that mention Jesus. It's a problem for me because Jesus is the real reason we have Christmas every year and it would be a lot better if they at least set up a manger or a cross somewhere for next year.

My Mom and I enjoyed visiting the gardens in late May, when there were many flowers, and a lovely rose garden in full bloom. I particularly liked the forest walk area which is canopied by plentiful and various trees. The toy train "garden" was fun to see and I imagine a favorite of children. Loved the may animal sculptures throughout as well. We spent about an hour and a half here, as the day was very humid due to recent rain, but one could spent 2-3 hours exploring all the paths, gardens, fountains, and multiple areas to discover.

We were driving through Wichita and this is the one thing we opted to do, and we were so glad! The gardens are beautiful! We saw a nice variety of flowers. There are a number of tasteful statues. There are a Koi pond, a lovely childrenâs garden, another pond with lilly pads, and a butterfly house, in addition to the main gardens.

Botanica is a beautiful botanical garden though not a large one by size but packed with a lot of variety of plants and styles of gardens. For example, the Chinese garden walled by a dragon like wall is lovely. Several structures in Chinese style architecture are spread out in this section. The model train garden is attractive, though no train was running when I visited. There is butter fly garden (conservatory), but I did not see many varieties of butterflies. The nature trail has displays of artwork such a bird nest, tepee, etc. One could easily spend about a couple of hours strolling around the various sections in this lovely garden. Do not miss the Koi fish pond to enjoy viewing the colorful fish.

Beautiful and amazing. Serene and quiet. The childrenâs botanical garden is worth the trip alone. My son absolutely loved it.

Every time I go to Botanica it is an exciting adventure to see the gardens as they change with the seasons and the progress they are making with their new proposed projects. the Excitement surrounding the Carrousel is immense. And, once again will increase the interest in the Garden across all demographics increasing the membership and attendance. This has the potential to increase parking and additional access. Tha would make the Garden even better Congratulations to all involved

We visited the gardens today and oh my goodness they are all so beautiful. Our toddler loved the Childrenâs Garden. The two ladies who were working the front desk were very helpful and super friendly.

We went during an event to specifically take my 2.5yo to the childrenâs garden. They DJs and loud speakers and a dance contest blocking the entrance to the childrenâs garden. I asked Renae for a refund so we could come on another day and she said it wasnât her problem we came on a day with an event and said no refund. Save your money and go to the zoo instead of looking at dried up old flowers. Used to like but none of the fish feeders were operational and all the flowers looked dead.

We go a few times a year because different things are going on. The new lego sculptures are cute. The grounds offer a lot of solitude

I spent almost 3 hours perusing the gardens here and not a second of that time was wasted or felt boring. I took so many pictures. The grounds are absolutely immaculate and so stunningly pretty, you kinda forget youâre still on EarthâŚ. In Kansas. In my life, I have had the privilege of going to the Botanical Building and famous rose garden in San Diego, the Dallas Arboretum, and Central Park in NYC (several times) and this place is better than all of those. Itâs absolutely surreal how many types of flowers are here! And they are all so pretty. I could have happily camped out here for my entire vacation. This place should be on every single personâs bucket list.

Bootanica is a great family event for all ages. Staff is nice and helpful. Consider weather when going.

This place is kinda boring. Pretty quiet but it was only fun for everyone under the age of 7 in terms of the children's' garden. There were no real flowers or birds but that could be because of the season and the time I went. It is fun if you need some quiet time and want to get away from a hectic life. It isn't really worth a huge trip though.

Located downtown between the rivers is an incredible botanical creation, including 33 gardens in all. Small, but growing, visit the new Chinese Garden of Friendship or play in the spectacular one-of-a-kind Downing Children's Garden. Come celebrate 30 years of growth and love on the summer Tuesday's on the Terrace with live music or attend one of the spectacular events or weddings scheduled daily. Christmas Illuminations is the #1 Christmas attraction in Kansas and lasts an entire month from Thanksgiving-New Year's. Great for families, sweethearts, Seniors and anyone who lives the outdoors.

I took my son and his family to this... so awesome! So many lights! Santa! Hot toddies for the adults! Hot food! Free carousel rides for all! The music that was in synch with some of the light displays were phenomenal! So glad we attended! Would definitely do it again! Bravo Wichita!!

Botanica is a wonderful place to be alone with your thoughts. I would highly recommend visiting for the Christmas light display. The team spends a lot of effort turning the park into a winter wonderland.

We love getting to go every year to illuminations. Watching my kids look at the thousands of lights, eat popcorn and see Santa makes it worth it every year. We will continue to go every year.

Botanica is an absolutely beautiful place to visit. The gardens, the architecture, the wallkways are enchanting. There are many different areas with a great variety of flowers in many gorgeous arrangements. There are also many large, surprising and colorful Lego statues.

Most impressive Christmas light display that I have ever seen! Millions of lights and creative displays. Highly recommended!

Smaller size gardens with a variety of roses. The Chinese garden is a highlight. During the summer there are a lot of kid groups, especially in the morning.

Botanical is beautiful in spring and summer. Being from the Pacific Northwest originally, I feel so at home in the Woodlands at Botanical. During the holiday season, Botanical is a âmust seeâ during their Illuminationsâ at night.

My wife and I visited Wichitaâs Botanica gardens for a relaxing date stop on our 28th anniversary. Their very appropriate post-Covid measures barely impeded our afternoon. Many wonderfully cared for gardens to enjoy and plenty of space to spread out. I witnessed more hostas than I have ever in my life!

Whatever the season, Botanica is a special place to visit. Christmas time and the lights are beautiful but so is Springtime and tulips. The kids place is so fun and makes even adults feel like kids. It is a place we take visitors and a place where you can just relax and enjoy the flowers, trees, butterflys.

Wow. What an experience. Spent the entire time I had on Sunday here just taking in the beauty. Best 10 bucks spent. The butterflies were really cool with some hatching right in front of us.
I recommend this if you are in Wichita and need a break from reality.
The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.
The young woman who was tending the roses was very helpful in educating us about the different rose species.
Very very enjoyable.
I stand behind my reviews and attach my name to every one.

The title about says it all. A lovely restful place full of wonderful floral gardens that can be enjoyed by all.

Itâs a nice walk in a park. They have a LOT of the same common flowers (in small and sparse arrangements) to breakup the monotony of green, brown, and cement.
Bring your kids and let them scream to their hearts content, everyone else seems too.
Itâs a reasonably cheap way to spend an hour or so getting some fresh air in a nice environment. They have a small cafe.

In addition to having superb gardens Botanica offers lunchtime lectorâs on near every Wednesday. Most recently, the lectures on mushrooms and on the Orphan Trains were incredibly informative. What a wonderful way to spend an hour on a Wednesday.
I love to take my friend Dan because the lecture always leads to most stimulating conversations.

We went to botanical during Christmas time. While there weren't many flowers and plants out. They did a fantastic job with all of the lights. We have been there in September as well. The gardens were well taken care of, nicely manicured and everything looked healthy despite it being a dry season!

I have visited over 30 botanic gardens in the USA and close to 2 dozen in Europe. This small, but well laid-out and cared for one could be rated as highly as ones that are MUCH bigger! I chose an exquisite spring day to visit, just after all the tulips had died back and concurrent with spring school trip season. No less than 4 schools had scheduled visits for elementary school aged students with good reason. The children's garden is as good as the ones in Huntington Gardens and far more instructive. Almost every display is either interactive or hands-on. Topics covered include animals and their habitat, plants, music, the farm and gardening. Almost every display was underwritten by a local business or private foundation. Little was missed. The kids seemed to love it, as did I.... The sensory garden was being refreshed that day, but the approach is smart. In a wall with MANY holes, different plants are grown, making it easy to smell, see and (perhaps?) touch the specimens. Photos to follow.

Great place for all ages. Christmas time is nice. All the lights snd music. There is a kid area that is super cool even for the adults. Botanical Garden has a butterfly house. I say no matter what season it is. Botanical Garden is still a place to visit.

Excellent visit !! kept my 8 year old grandson attention with all the inter active displays! absolutley beautiful!

It's a cool place to see, especially during the holidays! very pretty place to see. good location, quiet, peaceful

I mean how amazing is this hidden little gem, here in Wichita?!?!? We were recently there for the Halloween Pumpkin fest and had an awesome time. Now looking forward to the Luninations!!! All year round its awesome!!

Our porcelain art group recently held a one day show here. It could not have been a more beautiful setting. The gardens are gorgeous and it is much bigger than we realized. The sculptures in and around are beautiful too. They are in the process of restoring an old carousel that was once in a local park and it will be in the childrenâs garden. There is also a lovely gift shop and very nice visitor center. Definite worth a visit!

The kids area here is very good and this is the only botanical gardens I have ever seen that has one. This is a must visit for parents with younger children. If you just want a peaceful walk and a nice view they have that here too. There is an old carousel that they have been restoring for a while that I'm sure will be great for small kids in the future. They also have a butterfly house.

My husband and I went to Botanica to see the Christmas light show. It was pretty crowded but we went at our own pace and thoroughly enjoyed seeing the many displays. there was a barn that held so many pieces of a Christmas village. It was the most awesome display owned by one family.

It was a relaxing afternoon stroll through some very lovely areas, dotted with beautiful statues. Not much in the way of different or unique plants. The butterfly house was low on the amount of butterflies and different varieties. We went with a VIP pass for Tuesday on the Terrace-it was enjoyable and I would do that again. The wine was great, the music fantastic and the crowd lively.

We've been to gardens all over the world, and Botanica is world class and completely enjoyable. Something different and beautiful around every turn. Clean and beautifully maintained. Awesome.

Kind of early in the season for some flowers to be blooming but it's a nice place. Not huge, it only took about 2hrs. Rose garden it very pretty, all of the bushes have a marker with the name of the rose. Love, love all of the statues all through the gardens. We 3 senior ladies had fun in the children's garden playing music and looking at all of the faces carved into trees.

My extended family of 13 adults and children visited last weekend to see the Christmas lights. I did not do any research before arriving so did not have any expectations. I am so glad I happened across this and booked the tickets. It was fantastic!! Beautiful lights and music. Lots of areas for the children including a carousel ride. Do not miss! We are looking forward to a return visit to see the gardens in the Spring!

Check out the Chinese garden, its my favorite. Staff is awesome, grounds are clean and overall is a really great experience! Took my nephews when they were in town and they enjoyed it as well.

Its a small park with labels on the plants. You can see the whole thing in less than half an hour from a leisurely stroll. Completely overpriced for what it is. Very disappointing.

My family gathered here for my brother's wedding. There were married outside with the reception inside. We were allowed to wander the garden before and after the ceremony. There are some beautiful statues, water fountains, and flowers. There was a LEGO exhibit as well.

My wife wanted to visit here and Iâm glad we did. I had a speaking engagement later that day and we were looking for somewhere to spend a relaxing morning. It was a bit warm but the grounds were beautiful and the staff was friendly. Would recommend if you are looking for a nice stroll and love plants!

Excellent and creative gardens with nationally recognized artist exhibits. All this blended with gorgeous flowers, shrubs and trees. Love Botanica and their Tuesdays on the Terrace - live music, food and fun!

I came here alone with my camera to wander and take pictures. The gardens did not disappoint. The weather was perfect and the gardens were so peaceful. Got some great pictures and enjoyed the afternoon.

We stopped in for a visit on a Monday morning and practically had the place to ourselves.
Our first stop was the Chinese garden. It is a nice little space. Donât forget to buy some fish food. Itâs fun to feed the fish in the coy pond.
The rest of the gardens are varied and beautiful. Check out the greenhouse, model train set, and the butterfly house.

I have lost myself there in the beauty. Worth every moment you spend there, pleasantly surprised at the flowers. I also attended a wedding there, very beatiful.

The place was larger then I thought. A butterfly house, model train exhibit and lots of beautiful flowers. They also have a nice play area for the kids with things to do etc. There were many flowers that were dead or almost dead. The place is tranquil. If your going t pay a visit I recommend that you call first and see what activities they have so you don't miss anything.

I understand that this is THE fundraiser for the year. BUT we were so choked in after walking half way through that we could NOT MOVE. NOT AT ALL SAFE. Where are the Fire Marshalls? Always Loved AND attended Till now But I am afraid They are putting the profit over safety. Will be back when cold enough, that it will be less dangerous for my family

What an amazing place to visit; whether it be at Christmas or in the spring/summer. GORGEOUS landscaping made beautiful with everything to entice children or adults. Many Wichita sponsors have made this location a breath of fresh air!

We went here first thing in the morning so we were one of the only ones here. There were quite a few photo shoots going on but we were the only ones in the treehouse play area. The kids loved the treehouse play area. It was really nice for the adults too because it was shaded. There were quite a few water locations where there was running water the kids could play in. The flowers through out the gardens were stunning. This place really takes pride in their gardens. The ladybug garden is super cute. As the afternoon approached it started to get crowded. I would suggest going in the morning. The price to enter was really reasonable. You can bring in food and drink here too so the kids can have a snack after running around for a while.

We started attending the Tuesdays on the Terrace Concerts this summer. The Lego statues are also there right now. It was really fun and even my teens thought the Legos were cool! The concerts are a neat way to showcase the beautiful gardens! We can't wait until the Joyland Carousel opens!

Even in dreary March this is a special place and we can only imagine the beauty once Spring arrives. Tulips are starting to grow and little patches of green dot the extensive areas. The walking paths are wide and dotted with many, wonderful sculptures that enhance the visual landscape. We look forward to a return visit when the grounds are alive with colors and textures.
TULIPS!!!
The tulips were beautiful. I can imagine it is a wonderful place to stroll any time of year. The check in process was a little unorganized and we were sad that the restaurant is closed on Sunday.
