Brookgreen gardens is a great treasure. We have pass and enjoy the gardens on a regular basis. Christmas lights are a must see.

This is an amazing spot. The garden is wonderful and the art really adds to it. There is also a little zoo. We loved the peace and beauty. We took a boat ride with a history guide. It was great except for one thing. Unfortunately it was a big thing. The guide compared enslaved people to farm equipment. He said something along the lines of: imagine if the government just came in and took your farm equipment and didn't reimburse you....of course your economy would be ruined. People are not farm equipment. An immoral act doesn't deserve reimbursement. It was offensive.

Our tour/trip was on 30 Aug 2021. It was 4 of us and we all enjoy nature & outdoors along with history. You have to understand history in order to move forward and these gardens with their unique and beautiful sculptures did not disappoint. There was a little travel car that one can take to get around the grounds. The grounds are large. We meet some very nice, pleasant, and knowledgeable staff which made our visit great. Oh did take the water boat trip they had as well. It was a peaceful visit and in the future, I will bring others to enjoys what I did and will do again. So, you can see I will return.

The sculptures were magnificent in an idyllic setting.
I think more signs should be used as going from place to place can be abit confusing.
A lovely place and I will definitely will be returning.

A must see for anyone in the area. Beautiful grounds with lots of walkways to meander about as you view the gardens and the statuary. Optional boat tour is a must if you want to learn more about rice plantations.

Unique, very well done combination of natural beauty, artistic beauty, wildlife and history. Well worth the visit. We spent 2 days visiting and had a great guide on the river boat tour.

I am disabled and unable to walk for anything other than short distances. I use an electric bicycle to assist me with mobility (with wide tires for stability). I was challenged by the staff and explained this and proceeded, ONLY, to be stopped and harassed, also, harangued, by a security guard on a GOLF CART with FOUR WHERLS that he had approached me on AT SPEED. He assured me he wasn't 'trying' to be ugly. I confirmed that he had done more than 'try'; that he was extremely effective at it. He, nor Brookgreen, obviously, had any concern for the ADA laws or their visitors well being or rights. Simpletons on golfcarts with an inability to distinguish a difference. The Huntington's legacy has been left to characters similar to those found in Orwell's writing. Get a hint about the laws, and don't challenge a handicapped person while you, an able bodied (physically perhaps) person sit upon a Golf Cart 🤔

We made 2 trips during the week. Highly Recommend, so much to see and do! The sculptures, the zoo and the tours are worth the price of admission!

An absolute must see! We enjoyed the family walk through the zoo and children's area. The sculpture garden walk felt like we were in a "dream" or in the "Secret Garden" novel. If I lived in the area, I would get a season pass. We'll be back to visit another time! Most areas seemed to be wheel chair and stroller accessible... some stony paths, but overall doable.

This is a location I have enjoyed many times, both in daylight and at the Nights of 1000 Candles. My most recent visit gets ranked as only "slightly less magical" since the longstanding practice of luminaria in paper sacks has been replaced with candles in clear glass as well as bare electric bulbs in mason jars. The tree and landscape designs are still amazing as always, but only a few plastic facsimiles of bags were used (and none with enhanced designs like I see available.) Fields of bare candlelight could surely be improved with a bit of color and variation. My biggest disappointment was the food service by Campbell Catering, which offered uniformly small portions (my pitiful shrimp and grits could have been two serving spoons-full and shrimp taste was off), not at all like the plates-full service of a few years ago. I still recommend the displays for anyone seeking a reflective place without dazzling motion lights. It's surprising that the early arrivals were more than half departed by about 7:30 PM. I was impressed by the size of a new Conservatory under construction, and of course this is a vast collection of statuary and a nice aviary open on normal days.

Nice tour. It needed more flowers. We were so surprised at the restaurant there. It was the best that we had since we went vacation. The food was wonderful. If we had stayed lower we would have went back daily.

Beautiful place with gardens, a zoo and sculptures everywhere. We went a couple days while we were in the area. Just could not see it all in one trip.

The statuary and superb natural beauty make this enjoyable for all ages. The "wheelchair " transportation allowed everyone to enjoy the visit.

This was probably one of the best values I have ever experienced in a tourist destination! Impressive paintings and sculptures, Lowcountry Trail with historical perspectives on life in this area in the early history of our country, nice zoo with animals native to this region, and SO much more that we unfortunately did not have enough time to see. Well worth the admission price-a must see if you are visiting coastal South Carolina!

This reviewer had not been to Brookgreen Gardens for several years, so it was included in our recent visit to the area. Tickets are good for 7 days and there most definitely is enough of interest to bring one back for at least a second visit. In our case, we wanted to take the boat tour (an addition $10.00), but ran out of time to get on it the first day there.
We had seen most of the statues before, so this visit we concentrated on the plants and flowers and the Low Country Zoo. Take your camera. I highly recommend the Trail Beyond the Garden Wall. It and all walks at Brookgreen are easy enough, though strollers and wheelchairs may have difficulty in some areas.
Note that the two bus excursions and the butterfly house were closed when we were there. Though no longer required by the county government, masks still were required in the buildings but not outdoors.

I never miss the opportunity to visit the gardens. The ticket is good for seven days and I often make 3/4 trips during the week.

Beautiful gardens and statues. We had the places to ourselves -quiet and serene. Lots of walking! And it was hot. Price was well worth it. There is a shuttle - don't be afraid to use it - especially on a hot day! I took a ton of pictures.

Night of a thousand candles is AMAZING! Nice night in the gardens and amazingly beautiful lighting displays, not to mention the 1000 HAND LIT candles throughout the gardens. Our first time after living here for a few years, don't know why we waited so long!

I have 4 tickets that were reserved for 12/17/23 Night of a Thousand Candles. The event is sold out for all nights and was cancelled 12/16 and was cancelled roughly 24 hrs. before because of weather- which I understand. BUT, they refused to refund purchase price of $140 and announced could exchange for another evening (12/27-12/31- which is supposed to be sold out) through Showclix. I am not from area and will not be in town during those days- not to mention can't get through to showclix as of 12/19 2pm in order to try and change nights in hopes to sell. Very disappointed refunds refused since Brookfield cancelled the event and website states goes on rain or shine and I called the location early 12/16 and was told the event continues in bad weather.

Hubby & I spent at least 4 hours walking around admiring the gardens & sculptures-make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes. We also stopped in the low country zoo and saw the rice plantation area. We did not get back to use our multi-day ticket, but would do that if back in the area.

My wife has wanted to visit one night when Nights of a Thousand Candles is open at the Christmas season for about 14 years, but normally we always prefer to return home on the Saturday after our Thanksgiving visit to the area to avoid the traffic. When I decided we would return a day later, I learned all tickets for opening night already were sold out. BUT! I noticed they were having a somewhat pricey benefit the night before on the Friday after the holiday which included drinks and "heavy" hors d'oeuvres, so I decided to treat her. I'm glad I did. It was a wonderful display, though a very cold evening. My wife had thought the candles would just be electric, but no, they were both real candles and electric lights! That brought up the question, who lights all these candles and who blows them out?
The food was very good and I had some of the best cocoa I have had in many years. The lights were beautiful. of course. There was live music in several locations. And it wasn't very crowded. My wife took plenty of photos and for a couple of old folks (I'm nearly 81), we really enjoyed ourselves. Oh, and we still got to go home on Saturday.

Night lights in the garden.
Beautiful gardens.
My family have been there both day and night.
Wonderful place to visit.
I give it a 5 stars.

My birding group saw only a small portion of this extensive property - we could have stayed several days. Lovely, even in winter.

Gardens were pretty and very well kept. They revolve around naked sculpture. I don't want to sound too prudish but not a place for Christian Children unless you want to spend the day explaining private parts. The collector seems obsessed.

My favorite part of our visit to Brookgreen Gardens was the pontoon boat tour of the former rice areas. Our "Interpreter", Fred, was very knowledgeable and engaging. I live in the Lowcountry and yet I learned new facts about local birds and history. What a relaxing and informative boat ride!
The gardens and sculptures are awesome in the original sense of the word. Around every corner there is an eye-popping sculpture surrounded by water features and delightful gardens.
We enjoyed a tasty lunch on the patio of the Old Kitchen.
This was a highlight of our vacation in Pawley's Island. Tickets are valid for 7 days, and there is much more to see than can be covered in one day. We plan to return tomorrow.

What a beautiful setting! We arrived and parking was very convenient. We spent hours following the meandering trails in awe of the beauty of the gardens. We had beautiful backgrounds for some family photos. We rode the trolley up to the zoo. The butterfly exhibit was open only from 10-2. We spent about 3-4 hours enjoying this peaceful area. I would visit again for sure.

I cannot list just one favorite. It makes no difference which way you look, you will see something beautiful. We have toured many Christmas light shows but this one is at the top of the list. Be sure you use your map, easy to get lost. Music was excellent and lots of places to snack or fine dining.

We had such a magical time at the Art by Night event — but even more wonderful than the lights and garden were the amazing staff! Exceptionally kind and helpful people at every turn who really brought the experience to life. Additionally, the lights were enchanting, and it was so special to see the garden at sunset/night. Highly recommend!

Just gorgeous! Was delighted to see so many old, large, beautiful trees along with the flowers and plantings. And discovering sculptures of all types and sizes around every corner was amazing. Staff and volunteers were delightful - happy to greet us and ready to answer any questions posed to them.
While we only had one day and probably saw 1/4 to 1/3 of the grounds, tickets are good for a week! Will definitely try to get back and will stay longer.

The azaleas were stunning! Here in mid-April. Several new sculptures since my last visit several years ago. I think there is an error on the map; had trouble finding a sculpture.
(Reservations for the boat ride are not always available.)
Enjoyed being here; thank-you.

The sculptures are truly amazing, and we enjoyed everything we saw from the gardens, the zoo, and the artwork. The docents were all very kind and eager to share their knowledge with everyone. Truly glad we went!

The gardens and statues were beautiful! A wonderful place to wander and explore, exquisite sites around every corner. The labyrinth was a truly spiritual and pleasant experience.

WOW! This is a must do activity when in the area. Entrance fees were reasonable and had a military discount. Plan on 4 or more hours and lots of walking. Several buildings have art exhibits, but the grounds are full of statues. Also, a "ZOO" on the grounds; but local animals like horses, goats, otters, and an enclosed aviary. Bring your own water bottles and snacks. The snack bar was a one man operation. Be aware that your phone may not work in some areas like the parking lot. The shuttle has three stops and is small, maybe 12 people at the most. One good thing is that there are a lot of paved walkways. Bring binoculars for the nature trails that are near the water. We saw turtles, gators, and birds all at a distance. In the aviary in the zoo area, we saw from the raised walkways many birds, turtles, and a snake in the water.

Such an amazing place. seemingly endless sculptures and gardens and even a small zoo. Definitely something for everyone- lots of walking through beautiful grounds, inside air conditioned exhibits as well and tram and tours available. Definitely recommend the boat tour. Great thing about tickets is they're good for a week, so you don't have try and see everything in a day. They also offer military , AAA and senior discounts. Volunteers and staff readily available throughout property and very helpful. On site dining available and the mango smoothie was delicious!

On Wednesdays and Saturdays during the summer, Brookgreen Gardens offers its Summer of the Arts after hours evenings. In addition to food trucks and music, the gardens are illuminated as evening turns into night. A very fun place to visit.

Visited with family. Had a Beautiful visit! Absolutely lovely. Bring bug spray. The live music was incredible! Extremely talented and perfect for the atmosphere.

There are a couple indoor galleries, one that follows Anna’s life in decades. Wear good walking shoes, as this is a walking only park (no bikes). If you come in the summer, bring an umbrella the sun can get hot. I didn’t partake in the small food stand so I couldn’t say if it’s worth it or not. The park pass is reusable for 7 days, you’ll likely need to go more than one day to see it all. A beautiful site and definitely worth the $20 to get in.

I first visited here over 50 years ago and I still love it. The gardens are amazing and the zoo is fun, especially for children. Outdoor art work is everywhere. The history on these rice plantations is quite interesting.

My first time here. By day the gardens are wonderful and the sculptures beautiful but by night, it’s something magical

Amazing beautiful and so peaceful. Sculptures are beautiful, so much to look at. Be sure to plan at least 2 hrs for walking the gardens. Water is a little stagnant in the fountains, could use some aeration. The walk in the giant oaks with the Spanish moss is simply breathtaking. The story behind the gardens is the sweetest ♥️

We managed to get lost on our walk and a kind employee returned us to our car by golf cart. I was so appreciative.
The gardens were beautiful. Amidst the beauty, I felt that Brookgreen tried to acknowledge the experience of the enslaved who lived a life of hardship they did not choose for themselves.

Brookgreen Gardens is not your standard garden, it has so much more to offer. In addition to the beautiful gardens and sculptures, you will find a huge marsh with wildlife, and a zoo tucked in the back of the property. There you can see night heron fishing, nesting, etc. Be careful, as there may be several directly overhead in need of relieving themselves. You can also see a fox in a tree if you are lucky, it took several visits to see this, but your ticket is good for 6 straight days. There are some other animals to enjoy as well. I wish the raptors had larger cages but the rest of the place was marvelous.

I knew going in that I was going to love Brookgreen and I was right. It is so beautiful to see the Spanish Moss as we don't have that in our area. Unfortunately, they had a lot of machinery hanging lights for the upcoming Christmas event which really detracted from our experience. Overall, though, the gardens are amazing. I know they would be especially amazing during spring/summer or with the Christmas lights glowing.

Brookgreen Gardens is absolutely spectacular and was the highlight of our trip along the coast between MB, Hilton Head, and Beaufort. It is well worth the $18 entry fee (good for 7 days).
Plenty was still blooming when we went mid-September. We tried to follow the map, but honestly, it’s probably best to just wander, taking each path and turn as they come along. You can always backtrack. The live oak walk is worth several visits!
The sculptures are plentiful and artfully placed. The galleries are especially worth going inside.
I imagine you could take a picnic, but a restaurant and snack bar are on the grounds. If you tire easily, or if it’s just plain hot, there’s a shuttle bus to take you among the three major areas.

Would come to these elaborate gardens over and over again. We were lucky enough to be in town for the Thousands Candles event. There are no words to capture how magical the experience was. Every nook and cranny explored was full of beautiful surprises. The expansive grounds are full of artistic sculptures, gorgeous fauna, captivating ponds and majestic trees that simply take your breath away.

Well, the art and the old oak trees are outstanding; especially if you make it in time to see the Rodin Exhibit.
Truly impressive woman and sculptor, Ann Huntington. Her gifts were many.
We missed the Azalea and Magnolia blooms, but enjoyed the fountains and the trees.
Unfortunately, dining at the Harvest Restaurant was a less than ideal experience. Ordered a salad and she crab soup combo for $16. The salad dressing was too sweet, but the real disappointment was the soup: cream and something akin to maple syrup!
Order something else. The grouper sandwich with a delicious tarter sauce and fries were excellent!

Different from what you expect at the beach. Several different areas to explore like the statuary and garden area, the farm animal and local nature zoo area, etc. Each area is fairly large with lots of walking so plan ahead with good shoes, water, hats, etc. We did this on the day we changed hotels mainly to kill time between old hotel checkout and new hotel check-in without really knowing what to expect and while it worked out for us more planning on our part would have made for a much better experience. My fault on that one. I understand that they offer tours of the grounds and shuttles that run around the area. Tickets are good for I think it is 6 days so if you are staying close enough it might be worth it to see one part of the grounds on one day then come back the next day or so and see another section.

We visited on a gloomy, weekday. Very few people were present. Having enjoyed many of the gardens in Europe, this was interesting, and we enjoyed the historical value. However, there were a couple things that presented concern and seemed to lack best and wise practices during a pandemic. In several locations the helpful and eager volunteers or employees did not seem to understand safe distance practices. Although helpful, there were many times we had to ask them to distance or they came up behind us unawares and did not maintain distancing at all while they presented information. Many times we had to ask them to please step back and maintain distancing. A couple times we had to leave a space,
because the volunteer or employee did
not understand or respect distancing. In all situations it was possible to maintain safe distances, it just seemed that the
workers did not understand how to do
it. Our second concern was going
paperless, and not passing out maps.
This may sound like an advancement.
But indeed it was not as people had to
congregate around the public maps. We
tried using the app on our phones. The
first cell phone lasted about 3 hours,
between using the map and tours and
snapping photos. And the second one
lasted a couple hours. We ended up
sitting in the car for a few minutes to try
to get a charge to finish sightseeing. A
paper map would have been much
better as far as safe practices and not
having to worry about cell phone
batteries. Besides, the app was not that good and very hard to read on a cell phone. It did not work that well and was not user friendly or detailed. When choosing one of the tours it just threw a yellow highlight over an area and did not give walking instructions or information. If you switch to the map sometimes the yellow highlighted tour did not go off the general map when it should have. Just because something is on a smartphone does not mean it is progress or better. The app contained maps that were too small to read, lacked any kind of detail or instruction, and was more frustrating than helpful. Perhaps in the future the app will be improved and an asset to the gardens, but for now it is very lacking.

Calm and relaxing day … the grounds were beautiful! Go early in your trip, because the tickets are good for 7 days. We also like the Trekker Excursion.

Spent 2 lovely hours here and wish we'd allotted more time. The gardens are just stunning. Beautiful, peaceful, amazing sculptures and foliage. The low country trail and zoo were very interesting and fun. The colors of the flowers were just gorgeous. This is a very peaceful, serene place. I wish I could go every day. Even our 16 year old son thought it was amazing. Well worth it.

This is an absolute must visit. If you can come to Myrtle Beach from Thanksgiving till the end of the year, get your tickets for the night of 1000 candles. You will not regret it. It’s an awesome beautiful experience. I will say this, get your tickets early because they are sold out very fast for every night.

The sculptures were amazing. Every one was different and everyone was so helpful. We walked our little legs off....but it was so worth it,

Two adults visited Brookgreen Gardens near Myrtle Beach, SC, in early February and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We spent 2 days there. Tickets purchased are valid for 7 days. There is so much to see ranging from the actual gardens to sculptures both inside galleries and outside in the gardens, an arboretum, some flowering plants even in February, the Floyd Family Heritage Farm and the Lowcountry Zoo of native animals. All very well done. There is a restaurant and cafe on the property that we didn’t use but heard nice things about. We took the Brookgreen 101 tour for an extra $12 each for an excellent 60 minute narrated tour giving the history and interesting facts about the gardens in an electric bus through many of the roadways in the gardens.

On a recommendation from friends, we took the 20 min drive to Brookgreen Gardens today. The admission was 20.00 each for us (seniors 65+) to enter the gorgeous property. We were explained that our tickets allowed us entry for a full week! The property is so beautiful this time of year with spring popping up everywhere. Azaleas are in full bloom making picture taking a must! We parked and walked over to the zoo area and explored other areas of the vast place. We will return again in the week to see more of the property. Great for walking and/or driving - plenty of parking and washrooms on site.

This is a beautiful place. Go in November and the weather is fantastic. Staff is friendly and the sculptures are fantastic. Take your time and stroll through the whole park. We ate a light lunch and enjoyed the 75 degree day in November.

So beautiful!!! Definitely worth a visit!! We were able to eat a very yummy lunch there too. Great way to spend a day or 1/2 day and tickets are good for the week to return to finish the rest of the gardens if short on time.

We visited three times during the week on the ticket and really enjoyed the grounds and the exhibits. The zoo area was very enjoyable. Sanitizer all around and volunteers everywhere to answer questions or assist. Wide enough for wheelchairs to get around and distancing of people. Should be beautiful with the flowers blooming in the spring.

The most beautiful garden I have ever seen in USA ! The Design , flowers, trees, bushes and the statues and the history ! Worth every penny we paid at the entrance ! There was no evening event but I am sure it would be gorgeous and romantic ! The staff are very polite, friendly and knowledgeable ! I wish we had time to spend more time !

Unfortunately we picked the hottest day to go here. But this place was beautiful. Well maintained and so different from what we usually do on vacation. Very relaxing

This garden is magical it like walking in a dream. The sculpture throughout the park are amazing for art loves. The zoo and nature of the enchantment of the trees, flowers and fountains. The history behind the rice plantation it’s truly incredible how they were planted. The sad part is it was a slave plantation. The grounds are beautiful. Take the pontoon boat tour it’s an additional $10 per person but so worth it. A must visit.

The best place to visit we weren’t sure what to expect but wow for $20.00 admission per person it is good for 7 days yes 7 days ! The gardens are beautiful the sculptures are gorgeous just amazing we were overwhelmed by it all we could of walked more but our feet got tired and thought why rush we will come back which we did . It was as breathtaking the second day we went , we also went to the zoo area it also was very nice , took the boat ride for $10 each great ride the captain was very friendly and informative about all that surrounded the area This is a destination you need to stop and see , also the staff was excellent.

There is a lot to do in the Murrell's Inlet area. Brookgreen gardens is at the top of my list. It is amazingly beautiful. I love the sculptures and the grounds themselves. I would be there everyday if I lived in the area. Don't miss it!

If I lived in the area I would 1000% get a membership and visit every weekend!!! Its soooo beautiful and there is plenty opportunities to take beautiful photos. Took us about 3 hours to walk through everything (yes everything) and we had lunch at the Harvest Restaurant (amazing). Bring water to hydrate and good walking shoes!

Beautiful grounds. Sculptures galore. Gardens easy to walk. Friendly docents. Tickets good for 7 days cuz you will want to go back.

We love Brookgreen Gardens year round, but in December evenings it is magical! While very popular, the organization is phenomenal; parking and navigating the Garden at night are smoothly orchestrated.

Very nice walking paths and nature hike. The sculptures were pretty cool. Good history about the plantation. Small "zoo" with. A few farm animals. Baby goats were a hit! Tickets ate good for a week so you can go back as much as want.

This is a lovely place to visit. The gardens are beautiful. Interesting sculptures. We enjoyed the escape from the noise and traffic.

This is a can't miss attraction! Your ticket is good for 7 days, so plan to go early and leave time for a return visit. Walk through beautiful gardens adorned with many sculptures from different artists. We enjoyed the zoo, especially the otters, horses, goats, owls...many more! The boat ride was my favorite (additional ticket but it was worth the $10). Our guide was very knowledgeable and fun! We stopped to view the alligators as we learned about the rice plantations and the enslaved people that once worked this land. Got smoothies and sandwiches at the snack shop that really hit the spot...there's several restaurants on the property.

I have always wanted to visit Brookgreen Gardens and I was not disappointed. This is one of my favorite places I have ever been. The grounds are immaculately kept, the employees are friendly and helpful, the art and history are both insightful, and the animal life is an added draw. I felt so at peace on the property. Make sure you wear your walking shoes and next time I will pack a lunch as there are picnic shelters. The restrooms were clean and make sure you enjoy the boat ride. The gentleman narrating the boat ride gave a very fair and accurate historical account. For $20 you get admission to the gardens for a week. You can't beat that. Highly recommend for nature and history lovers.

Stunning sculptures set in beautiful gardens. The restaurants are Wonderful. Cute gift shop. Don’t miss Brookgreen Gardens if you in this area.

After experiencing Huntington Beach state park and the Antalya castle there my husband and I got the fever that we had to experience brookgreen gardens ourselves. First off, it is very photogenic and beautiful with hundreds of azaleas in bloom this time of year! But by the end of our two hour trip I felt the 22 dollar ticket wasn’t worth it to me. The gardens are very spread out, saving grace is their trolley system when you’ve had enough. I learned very quickly that this park is much more an art museum and the focus is on the sculptures much more than flowers. I grew up in north Georgia and if your every in that area of the us, I can’t express how much I would recommend Gibbs gardens!! It is all about millions of flowers and gardens galore. Brookgreen gardens is nice for couples who love and appreciate art, but I wouldn’t waste my money here for young families or older adults. Huge area, spread out. The low country zoo is ok but we also went on a dolphin watch and river tour while in Myrtle beach that I enjoyed far more. Spend your time and money at huntington beach where it all started😃

What a beautiful place to be . Let the flowers bloom sweep you away in its beautiful fragrance I love coming here when I visit Myrtle . It’s such a b nice peaceful garden

It was a hot one today so we didn't see everything but we really did enjoy what we did see. We won't have time to return before heading home. I especially liked the children's section.

Beautiful and well maintained garden. Your ticket is valid for 7 days so you can visit several times. The garden offers several art exhibitions and changing displays. We enjoyed our visit very much.

20$ an adult gets you in incl parking.
This place is actually a transformed rice plantation and I enjoyed learning about how the sites worked including it's history, both good and bad.
The walks about were amazing, especially along with water.
Note the ticket is good for 7 days...so could easily pop back another day.

Brookgreen had a great summer light show this year. Also enjoyed great musical entertainment by Paul Grimshaw band. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy great entertainment under the stars at Brookgreen.

We have visited in prior years but are always attracted back to Brookgreea. You can not beat the deal. 7 days admission with single payment. The river cruise explored the areas not accessible by walking. Plenty of alligators of all sizes. Flowers were in full bloom providing a colorful sight for walking. Will always return whennnin the area

What a beautiful place to visit and walk! There is a cost to get in but it includes parking. The oaks alone were worth the price of admission. I only wish we could be here for the light display between Thanksgiving and the end of the year. The lights are everywhere and I can tell it will be spectacular!
There are many great exhibits and play areas for families with kids (though the butterfly house was still closed due to covid when we were there). But as of November 2, there were still a lot of butterflies outside in the gardens. The walk through the animal area was really nice for both adults and kids.
My only caution for families with kids is that many of the sculptures in the gardens were nude, with women's breasts leaving nothing to the imagination and several with male genitalia in detail. You may want to prepare your kids or avoid!

It just a great place to visit and take visitors to walk around. I wish I could get around better than I do but that is my problem, not theirs and they make it as accessible as they can. It's just big but still worth it if you don't see it all.
We went for the Christmas seasonal viewing and was extremely impressed.

This is a must see when in the area! Beautiful gardens and beautiful old Oak trees with the Spanish moss. It looks like it’s out of a movie!

Went to the Nights of a Thousand Candles display. Yes there was a lot of traffic to enter, but the displays were so much worth the wait. Extremely well done. Volunteers extremely friendly and helpful.

This event has become so popular that you have to buy tickets, well ahead of time, for a specific night. The even is held rain or shine. Almost all of this is outside so you really are at the mercy of the weather. You might get lucky. You might not.
That's the problem. When it rains, this event is terrible. We attended last night. The electric lights are lovely, but none of the candles were lit. It is just not the same without them. You're coming to see all of the candles, right?
Brookgreen's inclement weather policy really needs to be revamped. They do offer ticket exchanges, but the event gets sold out every night, so there really are no opportunities for exchanges when the weather is bad.
Why not give your guests the experience they deserve and do a rain date on a following Mon, Tues, or Wed?
In addition, the one food pavilion is catered by Inlet Affairs. They have been catering this event for years. The food is expensive, but usually good. Last night, most everything we had was cold. With the exception of the soup, none of the other food (fried food) was hot - cold shrimp, cold chicken, cold fish, cold fries, cold hush puppies. They simply had no food warmers to keep things hot. At the prices charged, they should at least serve you hot, or at least warm food.
We have been to this event in years past and it has been lovely. Last night was not that.

What a treat! We were especially enthralled with the majestic live oaks and all the gorgeous sculpture gardens. The map of the gardens was particularly helpful, we easily found our way around the entire property. It was definitely a photographer's dream, I took a zillion photos - it was hard to whittle them down! We spent about 4 hours there (and then followed up with a late lunch along the Marshwalk), it was a perfect day.

This is a hidden gem. We decided to tour on a cold sunny day that was not suitable for golfing or going to the beach. This is 9,700 acres of gardens, sculptures and a small lowcountry zoo. There are 2,700 sculptures. You can picnic and let the kids run in the Storybook forest. This was once three rice plantations. There is plenty of history here.

Best $20 you will ever spend…and that’s a 7 day pass! Great for kids and adults. I’ve been there 6 times and still haven’t seen or done everything! Best botanical sculpture garden anywhere but has so much more! Don’t miss this one!

Wow! What a wonderful place, sadly we were in between seasons for the flowers but there was still so much to see and enjoy. The sculptures were amazing! A definite must see.

We absolutely loved the Summer Lights-Art by Night! The light displays were beautiful & mesmerizing! It was like a scene out of Avatar!
It got crowded closer to sunset, but there were plenty of places to sit and enjoy the scenery.
I brought my two young adult children & they enjoyed it as well!

Brookgreen is almost beyond words. The are statues of all shapes, sizes, and themes. All are beautiful situated throughout the magnificent gardens. Plants are identified with easy-to-read signs. The statue signage most often has information beyond just the title, artist, and date. Usually there's a paragraph giving interesting background on the sculpture. I immediately fell in love with Brookgreen and bought a membership. I've been 3 times and plan to keep going whenever I'm in this area.

The gardens are majestic. We loved the trees (the ancient oak trees are breathtaking!), the sculptures, the playground, the small zoo, and the children’s area. The trees especially were astonishing There are a few bathrooms spaced throughout, which is important for families like ours.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that, although the vast majority of understory plants featured are non-native, there were several dozen species of beautiful native plants interspersed throughout. I was even happier not to observe any invasive species except for liriope, which seemed fairly well-contained. Hopefully in the future they can expand their collection of natives which will support the ecosystem!

They gave a map at the entrance, but it was really easy to get off the main path and not see all the gardens. It was very well kept, though, and several volunteers were there working that day. Pontoon boat ride was extra, but worth it to get the history of the rice plantations.

Beautiful gardens and sculptures well worth the price for a days outing. Will go again. Christmas lights (night of a thousand candles) is one of the best.

We thoroughly enjoyed Brookgreen Gardens. The green space is inviting and all the statues are enjoyable. We returned more than one during our one week stay. Go, while away some time, relax, enjoy the art.

Beautiful sculptures and gardens. There is a zoo and a butterfly hut for the little ones. There are at least five galleries of art and sculptures! The grounds are immaculate and there is a light show in the fall. The admission is good for 7 days. There are over 2000 sculptures and over 900 beautiful acres which were four plantations at one time. They have three refreshment areas and give senior discounts. WORTH every minute of it. Just lovely.

Amazing experience. Went for a sculpture class and sightseeing. Love the place. Must spend a lot of time here. Best sculpture museum by far. Very friendly staff. Affordable ticket price for almost a week entrance. A very beautiful place.

This is a hard post to write because Brookgreen Gardens is so beautiful that I bought an annual pass online so that I could walk and enjoy it year round. I ordered a pass online that never arrived...just an email saying that the pass and extra visitor passes would arrive soon. After a month of not receiving it, I called and they said they would send out another one right away. After weeks, nothing arrived still. I called and they told me that I could pick it up at the gate office. I went there and it wasn't there. It's incredibly frustrating after spending $70ish dollars to get nothing in return.
I don't know if the office is staffed with volunteers or paid workers, but this diminishes my enjoyment of the park. Called and left ANOTHER message.

This is a beautiful area. We had so much to see we ended up going several days. The spring flowers were beautiful. The zoo was nice and I especially enjoyed the aviary area.

This place is amazing. Trails take you to history, sculptures, gardens, play area, and wild life. There is a long trail through the tree lined zoo. The trees and flowers in bloom are lovely. Give it a few weeks and the azaleas will be bursting with color. There seems to be an adventure around every curve. There is a large boat dock and you can take a cruise. We skipped the cruise but will take it next time. After admission you are given return tickets for up to 7 days. We are going back because it's beautiful and it is too much to see in one day. The restaurant was fantastic. Seating inside or outside with excellent service. They have a cafe' but we did not stop. We did stop in the gift shop. All the volunteers were knowledgeable and friendly. I learned some great facts about the artists and the area. Wear your walking shoes.

So much to see here..........the Botanical Gardens, American Sculpture, Low Country Zoo, Low Country History, etc.
We really appreciated that our purchased tickets could be used for 6 consecutive days.....what a great deal and a wonderful way to be able to see all that this site offers.

A friend and I enjoyed a visit to the Sculpture Gardens one day, and retuned to see the Botanical Gardens another day. Your ticket entitles you to visit for 7 days.

The Segway guide across the street recommended the Brookgreen Gardens. If you like open spaces with awesome gardens you need to visit this place. The food in the cafe is pretty good too.

Explore the gardens, over 250 live oak trees covered in Spanish moss, plants, flowers, statues, on site zoo. Just amazing!

Even though it's not the prettiest time of year, we really enjoyed our time spent at Brookgreen. Started off with a wonderful lunch at Austins Harvest (better food than some of the "high-end" restaurants in Charleston!). Two regrets - that we couldn't spend more time there and that we weren't able to get tickets for the night of a thousand candles. The staff puts in an amazing effort - would have been nice to see it all light up. The docent in the sculpture museum was very knowledgeable as well. Can't wait to go back in the spring.

Beautiful and peaceful.
A lovely place to walk around for a few hours on a sunny day, and enjoy the beauty of the sculptures, the huge oak trees, and the flowers. Here you can see large open space dotted with large artworks, and also you can walk through the many small gardens where you can find smaller sculptures in various corners of the gardens. Everywhere you turn, you'll be surprised by a lovely artwork.
There is also a zoo that's good for young kids but we didn't visit this time. We were simply lost in the gardens. This is the second time for me to visit Brook Green Garden (first time for my friend), and we absolutely love it. My friend and I joked that it would be wonderful if we could move this garden to Boston area where we live. There is no garden in Massachusetts that comes even close to the size or beauty of Brook Green.
This is a place I highly recommend if you bring your family to Myrtle Beach for a vacation.

A must see. The gardens are beautiful. We went to Night of a Thousand Candles and were see struck. We also went to the Zoo. We met the most knowledgeable gentleman who took us around and taught us many facts.

It took for us two days to see everything. We visited on March just before Spring. It’s just so beautiful and relaxing. We stop and take lunch in Harvest restaurant nice view while we eat lunch.

The Summer Light, Art by Night is a must see. Go early to see the amazing gardens and then enjoy the entertainment and great food from the food trucks. Fish Shak was there the night that we went…Very good! Then when it gets dark enjoy the lights in the gardens.

We've been to Brookgreen before and it's always a great visit, but this time we took the Brookgreen 101 tour. What a great tour! Fred was our guide on the small electric bus. He was very knowledgable about the history of the gardens and the many sculptures throughout the grounds. We learned so much and highly recommend this tour.

Such a unique place-part art museum, gardens, and zoo. We took a boat tour and really enjoyed seeing the alligators and learning about the rice fields and plantation history. We were there when it opened and left around 3 PM. It is an incredible place and we enjoyed taking a break from driving by using the free shuttle service.

Love going there ! My friends & family bought a Bench in my late husband’s honor so I go sit for awhile .
Love to walk through the gardens , hear the Bells, drove near the zoo this time & soon will go & walk there .
Just a Wonderful place to go !

Beautiful place to visit, I time out of beaches to enjoy nature and art, very well maintained, trees that survived time, exuberance of birds. the zoo has very healthy animals but just sad to see eagles in such small area, perhaps they are not able to fly but for sure deserved a bigger area.

Place was so beautiful incredible beautiful amazing place. If I could live here I would. The sculptures, the trees, the gardens are amazing! Staff was super helpful. Only wished they still had strollers as we forgot ours.

This is a great place to visit. The sculptures are amazing. We were very surprised to see some excellent art on display. Covering all of the grounds will take some time. All the different aspects of the gardens are interesting. We all enjoyed the history trail on the walk to the zoo. For those planning a trip I think 3 hours are needed to enjoy yourself. The Old Kitchen restaurant worked out well serving sandwiches and refreshments. They could use more signs to help folks find their way around the grounds but otherwise nobody had any complaints. Just a fun day!

Brookgreen Gardens is a National Historic Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is a magnificent garden with figural sculptures and a zoo. You could spend days there. It is a treasure. Highly recommend.

Beautiful gardens and artwork. We added two excursions, the creek tour and the trekker tour. Each tour was an additional $10, but it was money well spent. The tour guides were knowledge about the history of the area and provided entertaining commentary throughout the tours.
We also stopped in the Old Kitchen for a glass of tea and a piece of pecan pie - delicious!

We visited on a Thursday and it was not crowded. We took the Trekker tour and the boat ride in the canals. We learned many facts about the plantations that were where the park is currently located. We also visited the sculptures and were impressed by the sculptures of Anna Hiatt Huntington. The Huntingtons donated the land to establish the public park. We did not eat anything while here but everyone we encountered was very friendly and informative

This is a lovely garden comprising over 9000 acres. There is much to see of trees, flowers, museums, sculpture, alligators and I could go on. Passes are good for one week and reasonable in price. To do your visit justice, more than one visit is recommended. Be sure to do the short river cruise to see the alligators and learn of the history of the gardens.

Brookgreen Gardens is an expansive botanical gardens near Myrtle Beach, SC. It would probably be best enjoyed over a couple of visits. We only had one day though and covered most of the area. The flowers are gorgeous and the magnificent moss covered trees are breath-taking. I can never get enough of these trees. There are MANY amazing sculptures throughout the gardens- large and small. We also went through the small zoo. My favorite area in the zoo is the sea bird aviary. You can get very close up to the species and it's very special. There are also otter, fox, horse, eagles, owls, goats, sheep. It was very hot and we stopped to get a couple of bottles of water at one of the cafe's. The service was very slow and the clerks extremely rude.

We have wanted to visit for some time and it was worth the wait. 9000 acres of beautiful gardens with sculptures spread through the grounds and viewing areas. Many sculptures by Anna Hyatt Huntington, a vert well established and admired sculptor. We came in for the summer evening art exhibition with beautiful lit settings. Early on there was music, bring chairs! Also food trucks serving grilled cheese, another with different takes on fried shrimp, Kona ice, lastly the Sabrett hot dog showed up late. Worth the visit. Wear bug spray!

This is a very well maintained attraction. Clean, not too busy and Absolutely beautiful. We spent about 3 hours walking around, and didn’t see everything. The tickets are good for multiple days so you can go back. We bought ours on a Sat and the lady at the ticket counter said they are good till Friday. We love it!

We let the teen girls pick an activity on the trip and it brought us to the Gardens and Low country Zoo. We were staying in North Myrtle Beach, so this was a bit of a drive, but well worth it.
Our main destination was the zoo portion of the grounds. We were pleased to see so much more. We loved the views as we drove through the property. There were several picnic areas and multiple parking lots near the main spots. There were hiking trails throughout and a lot of shaded grounds.
The zoo portion doesn't house your normal exotic animals, but more your farm type and some wildlife. The trails are paved and shaded. Walking was easy and the exhibits were well maintained. We also took a trip through the butterfly house. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the gators or the otters. The otters were napping and trying to stay cool until lunch time. We could see them curled up among some tree roots on the bank of their water.
On the way to the front we cooled off in the gallery and enjoyed the statues and artwork. Due to the heat, we decided to pass on the arboretum section. The grounds were beautiful and the flowers we could see were colorful and well laid out.
There is a shuttle between the sides of the property. There are vending machines, but they were empty. The gallery had water fountains that were cool enough to take advantage of. There are also drinks in the gift shop and I think 2 restaurants on the property.
Originally we were a bit unsure of spending the amount per person for the visit, but we found out that tickets are for unlimited visits for a week!
This is definitely a great place to visit for leisure and walking, or if you just want something less touristy to enjoy.

Phenomenal gardens and statues! Not sure what we expected...but $22 for 7 days seemed like a win for us! The entire area was well maintained, the staff were friendly, and had it not been so darn hot outside, we could have walked around for hours! It would be awesome to see it lit up at night. Personally, the zoo for adults was very skippable, but maybe a better option if you have kids in tow.

I was first at Brookgreen Gardens over 40 years ago. My, how it has grown. Back then I could take in the entire grounds in an afternoon--today I'd recommend a couple of days.Whereas a younger me could walk the entire site, now there thankfully is a shuttle to carry you to various centers.
The primary attraction at this former plantation is the art work. The grounds are full of monumental statues, most by former owner and wildlife sculptor Anna Hyatt Huntington. Many other painters and sculptors are included in the gardens and galleries.
We'd scheduled only a few hours for the visit, so we started at their gallery. Then we hopped the shuttle and rtode to their zoo, a place mostly of species native to the area and aren't quite fit for release into the wild. Our first stop was their butterfly house, where not only can you get up close with several species but also can watch them emerging from cocoons. Then we walked the mile through the large animal exhibits, where I got to see an otter getting his mid-day fish snack.
We finished out stay with a light lunch from their hot dog stand (they have two other restaurants on site) and a quick look at their Gullah Geechee garden. It was a good morning, needed more of it.

Nice garden - didn’t have time to walk the sculpture section because wanted to do the zoo. We made the mistake of stopping at the information center - no need as you can just pay at the gate. I would have scored it 5 stars but we went to Low Country food stand at 230- they said the closed at 3. We were told only snacks! How is that open until 3??? We would have gone to the main restaurant if we knew they were shutting off the food early. Not impressed with that at all.

I’ve been returning to Brookgreen Gardens every year since I was 17. This isn’t just a garden—it’s a sanctuary where art, nature, and stillness offer something different every time I visit.
From the cathedral of Live Oaks to the powerful sculptures and quiet benches that invite reflection, Brookgreen has quietly helped me heal, grow, and reconnect to myself through many seasons of life. It’s stunning in any weather—some of my most memorable visits happened in the rain.
If you love gardens, art, or simply need a breath of peace, Brookgreen will meet you right where you are. I’ve written more about what this place means to me—just search The Happy Bishop Brookgreen Gardens if you're curious.

We hadn't been to Brookgreen Gardens in 25+ years. It's just beautiful! Sculptures set among well-tended gardens (even in February when there isn't much guttering).
We enjoyed strolling along the paths. There is not a brochure (thanks, Covid), but there is an app!
Great way to spend a day!

It has it all, zoo, flowers, and sculptures. I went with my family. My grandchildren loved the small zoo as much as I did. We made a two day tour of the gardens, zoo, Sculptures, and Butterflies. We took our time and still missed things.
A great place to visit and very enjoyable.

My first stop was at the gift shop and 118$ later I was not disappointed. They had great items fairly priced and the staff was wonderfully warm. Then I was notified that the tour bus was not working till the afternoon yet they opened at 9am. and there was quite a few people there so we were all disappointed. The sculptures and the art was amazing throughout the exhibits and the grass areas. But the butterfly garden was closed due to weather and the fountains were mostly not operating and unkempt. Then I tried to go to the zoo and was told I had to take shelter inside my car or inside their main building. It was total bust at this point so I just left. They did not offer a refund of any kind and said the ticket was good for 7 days. Not a great solution for me since I was only driving thru and allocated just 9am to noon to be there. Would I visit again? Probably not! Even our smaller Thanksgiving Point garden in Utah is better kept! Overall it lacked the wow factor.

This is a beautiful sculpture garden. Lots of big outdoor sculptures and lots and lots of beautiful flowers. Also lots of beautiful live oaks with Spanish Moss. There's also a small zoo for the little kids.

We got a free ticket with our hotel stay so myself and my 21 year old daughter went on our way back home. I am so glad we did! The ticket is good for 7 days and I see why. The place is huge and you really need to take your time there. The sculpture garden is AMAZING. We had to rush through everything else because we had to get on the road but I wish we had more time. They also offer a night ticket and have lights in the gardens that I would love to see!

We are seniors so we paid $23 and the tickets are valued for 7 days, so multiple visits are acceptable. We made 2 trips 1st trip visited the zoo, farm and did the boat trip 2 nd visit saw the gardens and sculptures which were amazing especially the exhibits which were made of wood. The birds were so lifelike, the feathers were so real. We stopped off at the Old Kitchen cafe for a coffee and BLT turkey wrap. The coffee was hot and the wrap had plenty of turkey and bacon bits and was reasonably priced - all served with a friendly smile. We were there for about 2 hours for each visit.

I've been to many botanical gardens, big and small, and this one is my favorite, by far. The grounds are just gorgeous and all the sculptures add to the beauty. If you're anywhere nearby, please go here.

The most magnificent, magical place…it is huge….gardens sculptures, art, animals, butterfly farm….boat tour…fantastic…historic we took the Oak Plantation Tour with Merrylee! She was by far the most interesting and informative tour guide. It was just myself and my husband. We were at the beach for 8 nights and we went back to Brookgreen 5 times. You get a seven day pass. We were there 11 years ago but a lot has changed. I think your foolish if you don’t go and check this very beautiful and unique garden, not to mention the very interesting history behind it!

This is such a wonderful place to stop & take a moment to enjoy nature, being outside & explore what's blooming. You'll need your walking shoes (closed toe preferably) & some time to explore & enjoy all the gardens have to offer. Enjoy a great lunch at the Autumn Cafe (although a little pricey), it's well worth it & absolutely delicious! The spring flowers & azaleas were just amazing in the gardens & lots of the statues have been relocated so you never know what you will see where. The gift shop seems to be struggling a little in our opinion. Not a very wide selection of outdoor decor or items (and for the spring time you would think there would be tons to pick from) but maybe COVID has slowed their inventory. It would be nice to see more bird feeders available, etc. Overall, the gardens are one of the most wonderful things that SC has to offer. Stop & take a moment to reflect & enjoy all that your eyes can feast upon!

Just absolutely beautiful... need to go back to do excursions. The zoo is small and could use some more interactive or attractions. The gardens are so peaceful and beautiful.

I will write a review separate from this one on the zoo and the sculpture gardens. If you get a chance and are down here in the end of November or December "A Night of a Thousand Candles" is a must. Volunteers start setting up months before the few nights this event exists . Photos do not do it justice you have to be there walking the grounds. A bit different this year with the covid precautions but still food Music and Christmas spirit abounds.

We were staying in nearby Surfside Beach and spent several hours here. We thoroughly enjoyed strolling through the grounds and the zoo. We came back a few days later (I love that your ticket is good for 7 days!) and finished up what we didn't see the first visit. Lovely place!

There are many different attractions/activities. We were most interested in the Zoo, which is where injured animals are taken care of. Our first stop was a "Meet the Animals" presentation. A volunteer was giving a talk about screech owls while carrying one around on her hand. His name was Pikachu and he was very well-behaved. The volunteer was very knowledgeable and friendly. The children watching in the front row were enraptured. The presentation lasted about a half hour, then we were free to roam the park at our leisure. We walked through two different aviary enclosures which were filled with all different kinds of marsh birds like the snowy egret. Along the trail we saw foxes, wolves, owls, an alligator, turtles, bald eagles, and otters. The tickets were $25 per adult, and they're good for seven days, so if we wanted to come back while we were in town, it wouldn't cost extra. I was also interested in seeing the art galleries. There were attendants throughout the park to answer any questions we might have.

This place was way more than I expected. From the zoo to the historical trail to the art not to mention the beautiful scenery. We were blown away by the beauty and size of the park. The zoo was well done. We took a boat tour through the creek. Walked the historical trail and the sculpture and gardens. There are sculptures everywhere you look. The scenery and setting transport you to another time. It was a beautiful afternoon.

The gardens are beautiful. They have beautiful displays of wildflowers which attract bees and butterflies. The trees are beautiful with enjoyable walking trails. There are also historic plaques throughout the gardens. The statues showcased in the gardens are a sight to see. Next time we are in the area, I hope to visit the zoo on the grounds. Purchasing a ticket will give you free passage for a week.

My husband and I wanted to visit the "Thousand Candles" exhibit December 2022. Brookgreen Gardens mandates pre-purchasing tickets so I did when they were first available for sale a few months in advance because I was told this show is very popular and it sells out. Unfortunately, the day before I was to leave my home in Pennsylvania and travel to South Carolina, my oncologist informed me that my cancer had returned after being in remission for seven years and he did not recommend me traveling at that time. I plan to return to South Carolina this December because my cancer is now under control so I contacted Brookgreen Gardens via e-mail and explained the situation. I still have my unused tickets ($105) and asked Brookgreen Gardens if they would reissue me new tickets for December 2023. I am not asking for any money back, just a chance to use those tickets. I was told by the Brookgreen Gardens employee that tickets can not be used the following year. I feel that the staff at Brookgreen Gardens is very unsympathetic and greedy. I will gladly provide a note from my oncologist so the staff at Brookgreen Gardens knows that I am not lying about my cancer. It was bad enough to find out my cancer returned and to think the staff at Brookgreen Gardens could not care less.

We were delighted with the courtyards of trees, the number of blooming flowers, the large butterflies everywhere, and the lovely statues. The Harvest had delicious she-crab soup and salad. The Low Country Zoo had great natural habitats and the boat tour through the rice fields was fun. It was worth waiting years to see. We may return some December for the Nights of a Thousand Candles.

This is a must see if you are in the area. Any one of the dozens of sculptures could be the highlight of a park. Each exhibit was interesting. There are 9000 acres to explore. Ample food and restroom facilities. $20 to get a six day pass ($18 for seniors). Well worth the price.

Statute garden is fantastic. Numerous statutes of all sizes beautifully displayed. Loved the tall cypress trees dripping with moss. Well worth a days visit.

Summer Lights looked like it would be a beautiful way to see the gardens. It was our first time here, so we walked the gardens in daylight then later after dark. It was like living in a fairy garden. If you missed it this year you have to make it a "must see" in 2025

These gardens are superb and not to be skipped during ur visit. We were fortunate that weather was perfect and everything blooming.

One of the greatest art experiences you will ever have plus a little zoo and amazing play area for the kids. The largest sculpture gardens you will ever experience exhibited magnificently. Your admission is good for the week, so you do not have to do it in one day. Am not sure it is possible to see everything in one day. An absolute must.

These gardens exceeded our expectations. The trees and flowers are very nice, but the many sculptures are amazing. We ended up spending all day at the gardens and went back another day for another tour. The first day we took the boat tour which provided a lot of history. The second tour was focused on two slave settlements that were in the area at one time. We also enjoyed the poetry garden. Even the cafe was great. I had a delicious Turkey and Swiss sandwich. Your entrance fee is good for several days, so don't worry if you can't see everything in one day.

Try to go in March when the azaeleas bloom. I was fortunate enough to see a great horned owl during the day perched in the tree. It is best to tour in parts as the place in huge. The dining room is wonderful and so was the service given by Jasmine. They even helped me get back to my car when I was tired. I would go here again if I lived closer. The one week passes are nice for one price.

What a fun experience! Our family our four spent two fun days here on vacation. The highlight was interacting with the animals and the animal keeper who did the educational program “Meet the Animals.” Katy was enthusiastic and friendly and very knowledgeable! We also enjoyed the walking tour “Mother Nature’s Cafe” and the volunteers who conducted those tours.
The Rodin sculptures were another highlight. We could have easily come here everyday and found something new and interesting.

Looking for something to do around Georgetown and saw this place on TripAdvisor. It was great. Lots of beautiful pathways with huge beautiful oak trees. Sculptures of all different types placed throughout the grounds. There is even a little zoo on the property and a nice interactive playground near the zoo. I think fairly priced at about $20 a person. Nice place to spend a few hours.

Beautiful grounds... Could walk here for hours. Saw that my ticket was good for 6 days, but wasn't in the area for that long, otherwise I'd have gone back. Definitely how one thinks the south looks like. Loved the poetry displayed here and there and the many sculptures. Almost made me feel like a kid walking through these gorgeous gardens! I thought the gift shop was a bit pricey, but I guess one should expect that. That's the only reason for the 4 star.

Beautiful gardens. Very nice and helpful staff ! Definitely recommend!!! We only spent less than 2 hours. Didn’t visit the zoo. Enjoyed by 3 couples!!

If you don’t go to the evening music and lights at Brookgreen Gardens you’ve missed the most romantic evenings in or near Myrtle Beach. This is the most prestigious sculpture gardens in the US and one of the best in the world. They even have areas children that they’ll enjoy. Don’t miss it.

First, I’m a member so I love Brookgreen Gardens. My rating is based on the photography tour with a “professional” photographer. It was a colossal waste of time and money! For 40 minutes, we walked, visited the river and a dock - where we were told it was built in the 1960s. Not one word about photography- composition, camera settings, lens choices, lighting - well - NOTHING. Just an older guy walking around. Name it a walking tour - and leave photography out of the title.

Went to the night of a thousand candles during holiday season. See other people reviews complaining about maskless people. Yeah, many people weren't wearing masks but most were. ITS OUTSIDE people. If you're that nervous, stay home and hide in your basement.
The display was outstanding. Beautiful. Cannot imagine the amount of work that went into stringing lights and placing thousands of candles. Well worth the cost of entry. WE will make this and annual event when we visit NMB area

We went to Brookgreen Gardens specifically to see the Lowcountry Trail & learn the areas history. In spite of all the beauty there, it was a sobering reminder of what our ancestors endured. The map showing how the 4 plantations that make up Brookgreen originally went to the ocean, Aaron Burr's daughter married one of the plantation owners & lived there, seeing the outlines of the rice fields, relics left behind, WOW!! I found a beautiful sweetgrass basket in the gift shop and original art as well. A great history lesson!!!

We took the kids and grandkids to the zoo portion of Brookgreen. The animals were out and beautiful. The grandkids loved it. We will return.

What an amazing place. The gardens are beautiful and the sculptures are truly spectacular. What a great combination. Spent all afternoon exploring even though we have been there before. There is always some wonderful visual experience around each corner. From small, intricate pieces to some that are truly monumental, the sculpture collection is full of variety.

There is a small visitor centre at the beginning of the park where you can get your tickets. Tickets are valued for 7 days. You can park near the butterfly enclosure and then walk through the zoo area where you will see birds, otters, foxes, wolves and more. Afterwards you can park your car at the garden's car park and visit all the different gardens and park land. You will also find a store and bathroom facilities here. Take your time strolling through the grouds, there is lots to see. Well worth it!

This is a MUST DO experience for ANYONE visiting the area! It is very affordable, there is so much to see there-you would need a lifetime to see/experience it all. There are numerous museums, walking trails, art, gardens, sculptures, and even a zoo and a butterfly dome. There is so much beauty and wonder. You could literally stay in the garden and sculpture trails and never see them all in a week! I am always amazed- I go to the area to vacation at least once or twice a year and always visit Brookgreen. I always find something new I have never seen and always find totally new areas to explore. I love this place, the grandchildren love it, we all love it! If you don't visit, you have cheated yourself!

This is the most gorgeous park. It is filled with 2500 sculptures. In the summer evenings they have a band, food trucks and light up the whole park. Turn up when it opens in the evening and wander around whilst the light fades. The sunset in the park is unspeakably beautiful. Check out their web site for the name of the band. You simply can’t miss Brookgreen, it is a magical wonderful work of art.

Had a very nice day at Brookgreen. They have so much sculpture in the different gardens I think you’d have to go more than once to see everything. The entrance ticket is for a week do if we were staying closer we would have returned. The grounds are well maintained and there are several different styles of gardens as well as sculpture just placed along paths. There was also a nice Rodin exhibit while we were there. We ate at Austin’s and thought it was good (I think you need reservations). We never even made it to the zoo as we were done in by all of the walking. If we visit the area again we would return. We used to live near the Huntington Gardens in California so we liked being able to see more of the family history.

If you love walking through beautiful and well-maintained gardens, then you MUST come for a visit! My husband and I visited while on vacation to Myrtle Beach, and we will definitely be back. It was hot, but there are lots of shaded areas and benches to rest if you get tired. I also love love love the fact that they have nice and clean restrooms on site throughout the gardens. We both enjoy nature, and we were amazed at all of the scenes and things to photograph as well. There are lots of sculptures throughout the garden, and although I'm not into art as much as nature, I found the sculptures to be awesome! The garden area is massive and there are so many things to see, so expect to spend a lot of time here! The good part is that the tickets are good for seven consecutive days, so you can come back and visit again. It's so worth the $20 entry fee. We went back two days, but probably only saw 25% of the gardens, spending about 6 to 7 hours between those two days. There is a shuttle you can take to explore more areas also. Neither of us were fond of the zoo. It was the most depressing zoo I've ever visited. The animals seemed sick or sad and were just existing. My heart was broken especially for the birds of prey (owls, eagles, and hawks). The butterfly garden was closed at the zoo, so we didn't get to enjoy that part of the zoo.
The garden is one of the best I've ever visited! We will be back everytime we visit the Myrtle Beach area.
Fresh air, beautiful scenes, and nature...oh my! I'm in love.
Happy days, my fellow travelers! You won't regret visiting the Brookgreen Gardens!

Brookgreen Gardens is a must visit. Lot of cool sculptures, a zoo, indoor wood carvings. There is a trolly/golf cart to bring you around.

Wonderful day, magnificent environment and art work. Well worth the trip. The circulating volunteers were very informative and helpful. I will definitely return for more visits.

I would rate this better but the guy driving the boat tour did not stop or slow down for pictures of the gators that was a complete let down

We visited the Night of a Thousand Candles and what a beautiful evening. The lights throughout the Garden are beautiful. Seeing all of the lights is an easy, comfortable walk, but is so gorgeous. There are a number of different light displays and “arrangements” to keep your interest. Everything has a wonderfully peaceful feeling. The night we went, there were a couple of ensembles playing, which added nicely to the atmosphere. We would definitely return!!

Ticked off. Not renewing my annual membership. I emailed about being turned away at 4:31 pm when you say you close at 5 pm. 80 miles and 1.5 hours wasted. I emailed and no response. Rude. Now I know where the “security guard” gets his manners.

After 15 years of visiting Myrtle Beach every August, we decided to visit Brookgreen Gardens this year. And, what a treat it was! The gardens are beautiful and the sculptures wonderful. However, what prompted this review was the best pecan pie I've ever had in their little cafe right there on the grounds. I asked where they sourced their pie or if it was made there, but the staff told me they were not permitted to divulge that information. I'm wondering if anyone knows where their pecan pie comes from???

My husband utilizes a wheelchair and many places which advertise as "accessible" really are not with steep ramps, sharp corners, double doors that open out and extremely rough surfaces. While certainly not all flat, with a little bit of muscles power, Brookgreen is truly accessible. As many have said, this is a gem, gorgeous, breathtaking, calming, wonderful. We were there about 3 hours and took in only the garden. If we are ever anywhere near this area again, we will definitely return.

These gardens are spectacular. The plantings are so varied and so beautiful. The sculptures are very interesting. Very nice gift shop, too.

We went to this garden on another’s recommendation and we’re not disappointed. This former plantation is steeped with history, and the mission of the garden is to inform and help the visitor understand the unique landscape and how early settlers used the landscape to their advantage. I was surprised at the link to Aaron Burr! There is a small zoo as well. We were hot from walking so much, but your tickets are good for a week! So you can take it in doses if it’s too much for you.

My hubby and I are avid gardeners and this is absolutely one of the most beautiful gardens we have ever visited. The grounds are so well maintained and the walkways are paved for the most part. The sculptures have been incorporated all through the grounds. There were several water features. I assume they all have a fountain of some sort and they were not working but it is early in the season so maybe that's why.
Tickets are good for more than one day and we went back a second time because we didn't get to do all that we wanted on day 1.
We went on the pontoon excursion which was enjoyable. The gentleman gave us tons of information regarding the rice fields and what we were seeing.
Also did the excursion through the Oaks. I would skip this one if I were going to do it again. The driver did a good job with stories but really he only took us out to see an old cemetery. I would have preferred the open air trolley instead we were on the small bus.
There is an exhibit that shows birds that are carved by Grainger McKoy. Do not miss this exhibit. His carvings are remarkable. I believe they are located in the Bielefeld Gallery.
All of the volunteers were very helpful and pleasant.

First time at Brookgreen. We only scratched the surface. There are so many things to do and see. We plan to get a season pass for our family. Bring your cameras! Breathtaking views of the gardens and art work.

This is a must-see for any nature or art lover. I was extremely impressed with the scale of the property and how it is beautifully maintained. My family and I hope to return next year and make use of the ticket for multiple days as it is impossible to appreciate everything in one stop. Staff was very friendly and helpful except for one man at the front gate who was a little snappy. But overall had a great experience!

What a massive place. You could easily take a couple of days to walk around and see all the wonderful sculptures & gardens. The park entrance is good for a week. The zoo was small but a delight. The butterfly garden wasn’t open, that was a disappointment. They were getting ready for the Christmas as they were working on all the lights. I wish I could see it.

We loved the garden area but are extremely unhappy with the cemetery bus tour. I asked about the terrain before purchasing tickets because I was recovering from a hip replacement and knee surgery. I was told it was a smooth ride so I'd be ok. Well, once we left the paved road, the driver entered a dirt road full of large rocks, deep holes and tree roots. We were bounced so badly that I banged and reinjured my surgical knee. I knew it immediately but there was no way to get back other than ride the bus. I have been in agony since, with what appears to be permanent nerve damage.

Brookgreen Gardens is tonic for the soul. The grounds are filled with a variety of flora and sculptures by American artists. They offer curated 'excursions" down the river on the grounds several times during the day, and they are always informative and delightful.
We have visited the gardens every chance we get while we are on vacation. There is always something new to discover and the staff is always ready to be helpful.
Brookgreen also has several places where you can obtain food and drinks. Our favorite is a 'sit down' restaurant where the she-crab soup is not to be missed!
Children will especially enjoy the Low-Country zoo, where they can see a variety of animals native to the region, including river otters in both a natural habitat as well as a viewing aquarium. All of the animals in the zoo are either rescues or were born at the park. They are well-cared for and Brookgreen Gardens ensures that there are docents available to talk with you about their care, feeding, and habits.
Brookgreen Gardens is worth scheduling 1-5 hours and several days for viewing. There is no way you can see everything in one visit, and the time of day and season portray the garden in its various moods.
We took our grandchildren, 8 years and 15, and they are always anxious to return. This is truly a family experience, for gardeners, art-lovers, history buffs, or anyone simply needing to relax in a beautiful setting.

Beautiful, relaxing gardens. Very clean and well kept. They have a wonderful restaurant on the grounds and nice little zoo too. If you can't see it all in one day dont worry, your addmission ticket is good for seven days. So you can come back with that same ticket.

So glad we visited Brookgreen Gardens! The grounds are just beautiful, and the sculpture gardens are quite nice as well. We visited the last day before leaving Myrtle Beach, and had we known the ticket was valid for 7 days, we certainly wished we would have gone earlier to take advantage of this.

Spent the day there. It’s set on an old rice plantation with a nod to its history on display in several areas.
The sculpture gardens were beyond our expectations. So many great bronze and marble pieces interspersed among beautiful plantings and natural oaks. Another breathtaking view around every corner. Also have great gallery walk and 2 inside sculpture galleries. All well worth seeing.
The lowlands zoo part is nicely done. A pleasant trail winding through the beautiful grounds. Good up close views of most of the animals displayed.
Great hiking trails throughout the almost 9000 acres.
Even has a lego land play area for the kids.
Was so impressed we went back for a second day. Tickets are good for return visits for 7 consecutive days. A real deal.
If your in the area plan on going. Something there for the whole family.
You won’t regret it.

Absolutely, stunning gardens. The volunteers were great too. So, many statues and photo ops. Take your time. Don't rush. If you're tired it's okay because your ticket is good for 7 days. The Lowland County was eye opening for this northern Illinois girl. The zoo was a little disappointing but, families seemed to be enjoying it. Definitely, put this on your must see list. And look for the coupons for buy one get one in the coupon books around MB.

On Mother's Day weekend we ate at "The Harvest Restaurant".There were 13 of us. Some needed gluten free items othes preferred vegetarian options. Everyone found an item that satisfied their dietary restrictions . The food was excellent as was the presentation and the taste outstanding. We had 3 children one was 2 years old and needed a highchair. Our server Josh had his hands full with us. He was excellent! He brought our appetizers, beverages, and entrees in a timely manner. The kiddos didn't lack attention either.

I was horrified that so many people were not wearing masks. We went there because masks were required. I would not have went had I known it was packed with people. I spoke to one of their workers about it and they said they can't make people wear their masks, it is their right. What about my rights? I guess we don't have any even though we followed the rules. Maybe they should have had all the unmasked people in their own little section. If we end up with Covid 19 I will be sending Brookgreen Gardens all my hospital and Dr Bills.

Plan on spending at least a few hours, such a beautiful place the grounds were unbelievable, Good for all ages and so much to see!!

We pulled in on our way from Myrtle Beach to Charleston. Our stop was 5.5 hrs long! The beauty of the varied gardens combined with the sculptures was absolutely amazing! The nature walk didn't disappoint and we wrapped it up with a walk though the lowcountry zoo which had the cutest baby goats!
The volunteer staff is so friendly and if you have a moment, stop in the restaurant for lunch!
We were moved by the art, the gardens, and took the meditative walk in the labrynth! It's a lot to take in, so if you're close, plan a return visit as the ticket is good for six consecutive days! We missed the Summer Light Art by Night, but since it runs through August 21st and if you're reading this before then, don't make the same mistake!

It was pouring rain the day I went and that meant I had the entire place to myself. A good umbrella and some hiking boots kept me perfectly dry and I ended up slowly walking around over a couple hours. It was a magical experience being there in solitude with all the sculptures, fountains, and the sound of the rain falling amongst the Live Oaks. In the zoo, the ducks and river otters were loving the rain, my only disappointment is the alligators were no where to be seen, probably trying to keep warm in the cool temperature. I can only imagine what it's like in sunny and warm weather (I'm sure I'll find out someday), but if it's rainy and chilly when you're planning to go, don't pass up the opportunity.

This is a gorgeous venue and a must see if if traveling in Pawley's Island. There is so much culture and beautiful artwork and sculptures. During the Christmas Holidays the Lights Display is just magical!

This place is just wonderful. A botical garden and a sculture garden, with good food (light but good). Educational and delightful, and the ticket is good for SEVEN days. If you're in the Myrtle Beach/Georgetown area for a week, plan a visit on Day One. It's too big to experience in a single day. With the ticket good for a week, return two and three times. And if you're local, absolutely become a member!

Brookgreen Gardens was originally part of the Huntington estate that includes the ruins of their home and the beachfront in the state park across the street and this property.
Seems a little pricey when you first enter at $18/adult and $10/child but your ticket is good for a week and there is a lot to do here. If you have the time to spare here, and are staying in the area, then it is actually a good value. If here during a hot weather time, you can come here in the cooler morning hours and see a bit of the property and come back on a different morning to see the rest.
Most interesting for the kids are the small zoo with local rescued animals and the storybook play area. The aviary with the night herons is spectacular and you almost feel like you are not in a zoo.
There are also interesting exhibits on the rice plantations in the area and some beautiful gardens. We were there in the early Spring and they had some beautiful azaleas and dogwoods in bloom.

Stunning property. If you are going to see flowers, don't go in March or adjust your expectations. If you are going to see dozens of sculptures, you will not be disappointed. Just strolling around the property is delightful. Your kids are going to love the Lowcountry Zoo. Your ticket is good for seven days. If you have a question, don't hesitate to ask one of the volunteers strolling around. so knowledgeable and friendly!

humid in the summer but nothing like it anywhere. The sculptures are beautiful as well as the gardens.

What a beautiful place! I went expected a quick walk through of an hour or so, but we spent the whole day there. The gardens are amazingly beautiful. The zoo portion is small, but we'll done. The otters were playing in the water and that was fun to watch. We were looking forward to the butterfly exhibit, but it was shut down.
This is definitely worth a visit!

The work of Anna Huntington is amazing. Loved seeing the sculptures of other American sculptures as well my loved the Spanish moss on all the trees. Very expansive. Need more than one day to really see everything and take it all in.

Absolutely gorgeous place and by far the most beautiful and peaceful garden I've been to. There are sculptures, live oaks, gardens, fountains and so much more. My entire family loved it, and the volunteers were amazing. The kids especially loved the zoo and the walking guide who fed the animals. Will def. return.

Make reservations months in advance and go see the christmas lights. It was beautiful and i would do it every year!

We planned visiting this having little idea how amazing this place would be. Despite the chill (low 40's), it was a great day. This is 900 acres of nature trails, sculpture exhibits and displays, gardens, animal exhibits and friendly staff. This is the largest sculpture collection in the world found in one place. Each museum or internal display has a local expert on site to walk you through the history of each exhibit. The nature trails ( such as Live Oak Alley) are breathtaking. Trees that are hundreds of years old-massive and majestic. At 1:00 they have a staff member come around and feed the animals in the exhibits. If you plan it right you can follow along and see tons of the area's natural fauna in the native flora. Make time to spend a chunk of your day here when visiting Myrtle Beach.

The lights were great. The food was great. A must see when Brook Green Gardens has this event again. I took friends that were totally amazed and want to return for a day visit

Another wonderful visit. Started out with a great dinner at the Harvest Restaurant - I had the lobster salad roll and a cup of the she crab soup (some of the best she crab soup that I have had). Then a stroll through the gardens at twilight to see the excellent Summer Lights exhibit of the glass artwork of Craige Mitchell Smith.

Take one of the tours because the guides have a wealth of knowledge to impart. We took the tour to the cemetery. You don’t see a lot on the way there but you do learn a lot of the history.
You should be sure to make enough time to walk the grounds/ gardens to see the various plants and statues and to read some of the signage that tells of the history of the people that o ced lived on the 4 rice plantations that made up what is now Brook green gardens.
Your general admission ticket is good for several days so if you are staying close you may want to visit a couple of days and take advantage of cooler morning temps if you are visiting during hotter summer months. However if you cannot do so, there was a slight breeze blowing when we were there that helped and it was 93 on the day we visited. There are also a lot of shaded areas you walk through.
It is a must see if you like nature or history. You should be aware though that the only original remaining building is the old kitchen which is now a snack shop. The chicken salad wrap sold there is quite tasty.

The gardens are in 4 plantations. Nothing is left standing but the grounds are gorgeous. I was there about 3-4 hours and could’ve stayed longer. I saw the butterfly exhibit which was fun. There’s also a boat tour that I didn’t know about until I got there. Unfortunately it was sold out so if you choose to do it buy your tickets first then walk around the garden. There’s a few places to eat and grab a smoothie or drink. Definitely worth a day trip.

We visited Brookgreen gardens for a night of a thousand candles and it was absolutely beautiful. If you are on the fence about going definitely take the leap and go. You'll love it.

We really enjoyed the Brookgreen Gardens. The sculptures were beautiful, the grounds are meticulous and the zoo is fun to walk through. It was $22.00 for adults and hubby got a senior discount of $2.00. We arrived around 11:00 and left at 1:30. We had plenty of time to see everything and crowds were minimal.
I woukd recommend this outing if you enjoy gardens and sculptures.

The gardens are nice, nothing exceptionally special. Entrance is $20/person. The sculptures are plentiful and AMAZING. The zoo is marginal. The boat ride ($10) is a nice diversion, but also nothing special. In short it's a pleasant place to bring a picnic and spend a day - particularly if you like looking at sculptures (which I do!). But, I wouldn't say it's a 'must do'.

The zoo was OK - worth a quick visit, it would have been great for kids and there was a place for them to play. The rice paddy was well signed, and I learned a lot. The sculptures were amazing, and the shop was nice. I did the open jeep tour of the graveyards. I learned a lot and really appreciated all the information given by the guide. It wasn't that bumpy as advertised. You need to get there early and spend the day. I really recommend going to dinner at Hanser House, 14360 Ocean Hwy, Pawleys Island after. It was delicious.

My husband and I were on vacation in Myrtle Beach. We had searched for things to do around the area and found Brookgreen Gardens. So glad we did. The grounds are spectacular. We loved the Low Country Zoo. Our visit was worth the money for the entrance fee. Amazing flowers and trees. Definitely will go back there if we are ever back in Myrtle Beach. Don't miss out on this beautiful place.

Simply Amazing. We visited last year and heard about the Night of a Thousand Candles. Yet, last year, we were not able to get tickets. We waited until August when tickets open and joined the Brookgreen Foundation and were able to get two tickets for December 22, 2024. It was simply magical and warmed our hearts like when we are in Germany seeing all the festivities, candles, colored ligt displays, people, food, bands, resturants, caroling, and families of all ages. Just amazing. We will return each year from here forward and now that we are a member, should not be too difficult to get two tickets each year. Highly recommend this -- A Must Do Tour!!! v/r, Dr. & Mrs. Ken King

Lights like no other! We kept hearing about the Christmas light show and decided this year it was a must. You will be mesmerized by the circle of moss-covered trees with long streams of lights raining from above and walks of various statues and colored lights. Not only are the hanging lights unbelievable but there are real candles everywhere; including hundreds floating in ponds! How many people does it take to light them all each night? We look forward to coming again to not only the holiday lights but also to visit this huge garden.

Brookgreen Gardens was very pretty and worth the drive from Myrtle Beach. My favorite things about it were the friendly staff ( mostly volunteers), the pontoon boat cruise, the Oak Allee, and the low country zoo. The wolves were cool to see. It was a very very hot day - most of the animals were sleeping - but it was a pretty area -- if visiting in summer bring water to drink and seek the shade! It was not very crowded at all. The formal gardens were lovely but I really enjoyed the walk to the Low Country Zoo where there are viewing areas to see the former rice fields ( now marshy area) and interpretive displays about the enslaved people who worked the plantations. There are no plantation homes to see , only a kitchen building remains which is a small cafe. I am glad we spent the day there. The ticket is good for several days if you would want to return, but we only had the one day to visit the Murrells Inlet area. We walked to see most everything in about 4-5 hrs we were there, including the sculpture galleries. I am not an art afficionado but the sculptures were interesting to see, especially the one with the exhibit of the wooden birds. The gift shop stocked some beautiful items as well as locally grown rice.

World Class sculptures, gardens and exhibits at a an affordable price.
Tickets are good for 6 days which makes it easy to enjoy on multiple days. The pace is laid back, landscape is immaculate and the staff and volunteers are very hospitable.

This was the highlight of our week stay in Myrtle Beach. We spent most of a day (11-4pm) there and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We were fortunate enough to go past the gift shop when we arrived and a volunteer was there to show us the map and a recommended route to take through the gardens. We began our walk with Live Oak Allee and followed all of the paths on that side of the map (left side) making sure to see all of the wonderful sculptures listed on the map. Of course, these are only the largest sculptures but they are truly spectacular! We stopped to share an excellent BLT Sandwich at the "Kitchen" restaurant and then continued our walk making our way from left to right where we ended up at the Zoo. By then, we were walked out and didn't actually see very many animals. For this reason alone, because your ticket allows you to return for a full week, we would recommend returning and perhaps visiting the zoo and some of the other sites on the right hand side. The gift shop has really wonderful, unique items and we enjoyed an hour in there as well.

We went for Nights of 1000 Candles event and had a wonderful time. The candles and additional lighting decorations were very well done and in some cases, stunningly beautiful, requiring many pictures to be taken! If you missed last year, make sure to make reservations for next year.
A few things that may help fellow travelers: we arrived at 3:45pm, 15 minutes before it opened and already the small entry area off of the highway was nearly full of cars. The gates weren't opened yet so we all sat contently there until the gates opened and we drove to the ticket-checking booth. While you could arrive much later than 4pm and probably avoid any hassle getting into the gardens, we'd highly recommend arriving early so that you can tour the grounds at 4pm, while it's still light out. Then, as it darkens, explore the areas again while the lights come on. We spent about 2-1/2 hours there.

This place was everything it advertised and more!!! We did a ton of walking but there are also benches all over for taking a break. Hearing the history of the place along with seeing the sculptures was wonderful. It was a beautiful day to wander and enjoy every area. The animals in the zoo were still fun to watch playing and having fun. Watching some children enjoy them was fun for all of us adults. My husband and I enjoyed every minute we got to spend there.

Recommend to any botanical or art enthusiast, and even for those spouses who aren't interested (like myself). It surprised me how much I enjoyed it. It's very peaceful, and a great place to take a relaxing stroll through and view the fabulous art. We went there with the intention of only staying for an hour, but between the gardens, art exhibits, lunch, the creek tour and the gift shop, we ended up staying for 5 hours.

We visit Brookgreen Gardens on almost every visit to Myrtle Beach. This time they had special art glass installations throughout the gardens along with the many sculptures and plantings. As usual the vistas are beautiful and the live oak trees are majestic. There is some new building going on so we’ll be sure to return when that area is finished. We purchased our tickets on line again and I see they would be good for 5 consecutive days.

This place was wonderful. It was nice to walk around and see art in a calming environment. The staff were very courteous. There is a military discount. Your ticket is good for seven days. I wish we could have seen it at night.

The light show was wonderful but very crowded. still worth checking out. Lots to see but if you have kids, keep them close as it is very dark.

No social distancing and lots of unmasked faces even though signs said to wear a mask. People attending just didn’t seem to care and paths are not that wide to be able to avoid them. Very disappointing experience.

We decided to start with the coastal boat excursion and were on the 11:00 trip. Very interesting tour, exceptional guide with extensive knowledge of the history, and we saw a lot of wildlife. Highly recommended. We then spent 4 hours walking around Brookgreen which is absolutely amazing. Beautiful gardens and statues and another pool, fountain, or other surprise around every turn. The grounds were beautifully maintained and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The zoo portion was a little disappointing but can’t say enough good things about the rest of our visit. We ate lunch at Austin’s Harvest Restaurant which was outstanding and the subject of a separate review. Do not miss visiting Brookgreen

My wife and I visited the garden while on a trip to Myrtle Beach for a 25th wedding anniversary and vacation. We found the garden to be absolutely beautiful. The cost is cheap and you can go I believe for seven days with the same ticket to completely see the garden and enjoy all of it. It would take quite a few days to see it all. My wife and I did it in two days but we both said there’s definitely stuff we missed.

We came here while on vacation, specifically for the Sculpture Garden and Botanic Gardens and were not disappointed. We spent a half a day here and started with the zoo. It's small but so peaceful and lovely to walk through. It wasn't very busy and we enjoyed not being rushed or too close to too many people. They had goats you could pet through the fence and we took advantage of helping them reach the grass to eat on the other side of the fence.
The sculptures were amazing and the staff who was there to explain some of the items in certain areas were very friendly and knowledgeable. For $20 you get admission for 7 days and well worth the cost.

This is such a beautiful place. We are on a schedule and it was SO hot that we didn't stay as long as I would have liked. It is just so gorgeous. Customer service is amazing and there was just so much to see. I would have spent all day if I could have.

What a joyful holiday evening! Nights of a Thousand Candles was spectacular! If it’s sold out, don’t give up! People trade nights so space opens up even on the same day. We tried off and on for about 30 minutes and scarfed up 4 tickets. Such a delightful evening even though it was chilly. Well organized and great guides spread out to help with directions.

Wow! Never heard of BrookGreen before it was recommended by a friend.
Wow, what an incredibly beautiful place. We came back the next day.
I would not recommend it for teens and younger children because of the nature of some of the sculptures. However, is one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen in South Carolina.
Do not miss the butterflies.

Brookgreen Gardens is wonderful. First, the ticket gets you in for a whole week. My mother and I went twice in the same week and had a great time each day.
Alongside the sculptures, beautiful flowers, and amazing history, there is also a small Lowcountry Zoo with farm animals and also wild animals native to the area. Some examples are river otters, endangered red wolves, and many types of birds.
My mother and I paid $12 extra on our second day for the river boat excursion, which tells this history of the rice plantations and the enslaved people working them. The ride was 45 minutes with gorgeous cypress trees on either side of the river, and a wonderful tour guide and historical interpreter.
I highly recommend Brookgreen to anyone interested in beautiful flowers or sculptures, the history of South Carolina and particularly the Gullah Geechee people, or the zoo animals.

Took an abbreviated tour of the garden (only had 2 hours) so beautiful. Was on a coach trip with adults only. Our volunteer guide was well informed. We had 3 guides and the guide in with our group was very conscious of the fact that we had many cane users. Kept the pace slow but made sure he touched on ALL of the information. Our tour was for an hour but he stayed for the full 2 hours. Answering questions and providing historical information. Definitely need more than 2 hours. Ticket price gives you 5 days. Well worth it!!! Also very clean!

Honestly I cringed paying the $20 per person admission, but once you experience the expansive gardens and exhibits you realize this is an investment into preserving the arts. Plan at least 3 hours for a one day trip, or make multiple visits because it is a 5 day pass. If you appreciate art, sculpture and gardens, this is your place. If you have kiddos, they have a small zoo to enjoy. If you love nature photography bring a camera! It's a nature photographers dream. Such a relaxing, quiet place. The history behind the rice plantation is fascinating and not white washed. A lovely, educational place to visit.

Wow wow and wow. This place is amazing plan to stay the day. Such an inspirational place to visit. We walked and walked. The flowers so pretty. The fountains were amazing. We ate lunch at one of the restaurants on grounds. The food was yummy!

The Summer Lights: Art by Night experience is a must do for everyone in the area.
Be sure to arrive before sunset to walk the gardens once while the sun is out. The oak trees alone are worth the price of admission.
Watch the sunset from the back of the gardens and then prepare to walk them again at night.
The lighting effects are truly mesmerizing. The gardens take a whole different feel at night and you will just get lost in the wonder of it all.
There are plenty of docents around to guide your way, give you information or just to say hello.
The entire family was blown away!

We have been going to BrookGreen Gardens for decades. I have some recent photos where I visited yesterday, but some of these other photos showcase my family from 20 years ago. It was a special place when my son was two years old and my daughter was four years old, and it is a special place now that my son is 21 years old and my daughter is 23 years old. When they were little, they loved the sculpture garden with all of the animals. Now that they are grown, they take walks together through the gardens, but they still get very excited when they see the giant monkey sculptures. (Pictured here). These photos also include pictures taken during the nights of 1000 lights and during Covid. What a treat to be able to go to Brookgreen during Covid, and see all the beauty, even if we were masked.
We have been members/passholders for the past few years as well, because now that we are empty-nesters, we are traveling to the area four or five times a year, and certainly being a passholder is worth it. We are especially excited about the fall evenings in the garden where BrookGreen is open a little bit later in the evening and we can stroll around. I have also gone on many occasions as well, and it provides respite and solitude and a space to just be with my thoughts and the flowers and the sculptures. Such a special place for me and for my family.
When life feels too hectic, a trip to BrookGreen is the balm that I need.

Beautiful fountains flowers trees. Easy walking places to eat. Gift shop worth a visit. Sculptures in the trees and footpaths were nestled in the right spots

The flowers are not as plentiful as in the spring and summer but there are plenty of blooms to keep your interest. The best time about going this time of year is the art work. There are over 2700 sculptures on the property. There is a farm section with animals and a natural area with wild animals. Very good experience for children and adults. Lots of walking though, so wear comfortable shoes.

Amazing gardens, statues and beautiful way to spend a warm fall day. So glad we took the day to spend time at the Brook Green Gardens. Well worth the entrance fee.

I agree with another reviewer that Brookgreen is more about art than flowers. The art is stunning! A friend and I spent hours walking the grounds and admiring the sculptures. The garden includes a nice, small zoo. The grounds are incredibly serene, and if I lived nearby I would get an annual membership. There is a trolley that people can ride if there are mobility issues or if you’re just tired.

Brookgreen Gardens is a beautiful place to visit. This was our first visit to Brookgreen Gardens. We saw very little because there is so much to see. We will be returning very soon. There are many art exhibits, both paintings & sculptures around the very large beautiful grounds. There are many large sculptures throughout the grounds to behold. There are many friendly guides to help you find your way and explain what you are seeing. We went to see the live butterfly exhibit. You are met by a guide who helps you enter a very large open screened enclosure with live butterflies flying around you as you walk. There are signs identifying the different butterflies. It is a marvelous experience. As you leave a guide helps you exit, so none of the butterflies get out. We went on to see the zoo area. There were farm animals that were native to the area. There was a section with many species of birds and ducks including a Bald Eagle. We saw an American Alligator, which was exciting. There are many more animals to see, we just have to go back to see them. The grounds are extremely large, thousands of acres of beautiful nature. We recommend visiting. Multi visits are needed to see everything and you will most likely want to see some things again. Enjoy…

This is a beautiful place with a lot of beautiful volunteers. They talked and jokers with you. They acted totally concerned about you. There is a lot of history here. The nice thing is when you go to a lot of places there is only one thing to look at and do. There is so much here. There are the botanicals and the beauty of nature. (For the people at Brookgreen love those pine trees LOL). Then there is Anna Huntingtons sculpture. Plus sculptures for on various other artist. There ate the butterfly’s, The Zoo, the wild life, something to keep your mind engaged at every turn. Way too much to do in a day.

We were attending their pre-Christmas "Night of a Thousand Candles". Unfortunately, a storm blew (literally) through and most of the candles did not survive. This made some difference but considering the magnificence of the lights not much. I will not describe the event as words fail me - I will say, if you have any chance SEE IT.

Brookgreen Gardens is a must visit attraction in Murrells Inlet. The hundreds of acres of Botanical Gardens and magnificent sculptures are to be admired. The paths are well marked and the maps given at registration are nicely detailed. Many events are held during the year. A wonderful highlight (which is well attended) is the "Nights Of A Thousand Canles". It occurs after Thanksgiving through the middle of January. Beside the "Thousand Candles", lights are strung from most of the trees and shrubbery. It is a sight to be seen. The staff is friendly and helpful. You probably need two days to see all three areas of the gardens including the museum, low country and boat ride and zoo.

Beautiful way to spend a day. Gardens and sculptures are fabulous. Also nature trails are a great place to walk. Well worth the $20 admission. Large place with so much to see.

Such a beautiful garden that is worth $22 entrance fee. The volunteers are all very friendly and helpful with explaining the map and areas of interest. Plenty of shade, beautiful art, lovely gardens, maze, interesting historical facts, gift shop, and cafes for a quick bite. This garden quickly became one of my personal favorites. I love gardens and seek them out on purpose.

Absolutely beautiful. A refreshing escape from the tourist scene of highway 17! Relaxed and serene! The oak trees were amazing.

Beautiful gardens Night of a thousand candles was so beautiful we will be back next year every time we go we find something different recommend you go every season

We spent a full day at Brookgreen Gardens visiting the gardens, sculptures, animals, and historic path. Bring sunscreen, bug spray, and water.
There are beautiful garden walks with sculptures throughout and several buildings housing sculptures. Most of the sculptures feature nude figures. Several young folks we heard (mine included) said there were too many behinds, so this area may not be best for kids. There isn’t really an organized way to go through the gardens, so we decided at each opening we would take the most as The storybook garden is especially fun for the kids; as well as, the zoo area. aesthetic path. I imagine doing this would take you different routes each season.
The Low Country Trail takes you under majestic trees with Spanish moss trailing down. There are QR codes at various stops that read to you the history of the rice plantation that originally stood on the Brookgreen grounds. In the spring, the area is full of anoles. Our youngest was sure to catch one to show everyone.
With castles and a pirate ship, the storybook garden is especially fun for the kids; as well as, the zoo area. The zoo is small with various native animals and a few that are not. Try to visit during the zoo feeding tour. It is a great tour and you have a greater chance to see the animals. The highlights of the tour for us were getting to see the black colored red fox, the otters, the baby goats, and the alligator that was out sunning itself.
There are various talks throughout the day. We heard one of the staff recommend coming back during the candlelight display.
There are picnic tables available.
General admission is good for several days, so you can make lots of visits back.

There were crowds. It was not an organised crowd. That many people, we felt nervos. The botany itself was good.

The signage was nearly absent and the visitors' guide was so rudimentary and lacking in detail that much time was wasted in trying to figure out how to get to the particular gardens we wanted to see. The grounds are vast and a color-coded map of the numerous pathways would have gone a long way in simplifying our visit.
For the price of admission, I believe we were short-changed in that regard.

I rarely use "Excellent" but this place is. We were there on 2/14, the ceremony was well done and not religious at all. Rodin was of course great, but probably the best was the weather and the major walk we took. You have really created a very special wonderful place and if we lived nearby we would be members, and visit all the time.
The founders are proud of what you have done with their creation.

Brookgreen Gardens, Pawleys Island, 80 miles north of Charleston
Brookgreen Gardens is a 9,100 acre sculpture garden/wildlife preserve opened in 1932. It was developed on the property of four rice plantations. We spent several hours there and had a wonderful lunch at the Harvest Restaurant. Beautiful day to just casually walk and admire the beautiful gardens. So many adorable statues which some just made you smile. 😊 A little too early for many blooming flowers here.

Everyone there was helpful and friendly. So beautiful and my teen girls loved it. Must do for all ages.

Beautiful gardens , art work ,sculptures nature walk, restaurant.
There is something for every age group.
Each area is breath taking!

Beautiful grounds and well kept property. A shuttle is provided to help you get around the property or you can drive and park at the different areas.

This is by far one of the best places to walk and get back to nature!! So many things to see and the history is exceptional!!
We had a boat tour on the Waccamaw River and Tom Broderick was the narrator. He is very knowledgeable of the river and different things that took place on it!!

Brookgreen gardens are absolutely beautiful. The cost is 20.00 for a 7 day admission. There is so much to see, you probably need 2 days. It is broken up into 3 areas and there is a tram to transport you to each one. It is the gardens and museums, then the low country area where you board the boat, extra fee required, then the zoo. It is a small zoo but very nicely laid out and kept up very well. I can't recommend this place enough, must see.

My teenage daughter and I went here on a recent trip to the area. We really had no expectations, but in the end we LOVED it. It was so incredibly beautiful and well maintained. Everywhere you turned there was something absolutely gorgeous. We dined at one of the restaurants and had a lovely meal. The gift shop was great and and we enjoyed that. Our only regret was that we could not go back for the night show.I am sure it would of been absolutely stunning! I highly recommend this beautiful garden.

South Carolina and, indeed, the nation reveres Brookgreen Gardens for many reasons. The history of the place is wonderful. The sculpture collections are incredible. The gardens are amazingly beautiful. Located between Myrtle Beach and Charleston it is an easy trip. I can’t say enough good about it. Don’t miss it.

This is a great place for adults to spend an entire day. The sculptures are beautiful and there are hundreds, I think! The oaks are amazing and the staff is great. There is a separate section for children, similar to a petting zoo and a small playground, but for the admission price, I am not sure it is a good value. However, for a couple or a group of adults, it is a wonderful way to spend a day enjoying great art and gardens!

If we had stayed a bit closer then I would have walked this place every morning of the seven days the ticket last. Went twice and still didn’t get to walk all corners of this beautiful garden with magnificent sculptures placed among blooming flowers and trees. Should be great for families as well due to the zoo, the boat ride and the open spaces. Restaurants available- loved the delicious lunch we had by their eatable plots. Several galleries with special exhibits- plenty to admire

Spending four days here and seeing it all, Brookgreen is certainly one of a kind for art, nature, and ambience. Austin’s Harvest restaurant, located on the grounds, should not be overlooked. Their outdoor seating maintains the character of the setting, and with a cup of their she crab soup, you will get some additional flavor for the Old South. Excellent food, with the benefit of not having to leave the garden.

We had visited Atalaya Castle, located inside of the Huntington Beach State Park the day before so wanted to come here to check it out since the owners of that castle were the founders of this park and Anna Hyatt Huntington's sculptures are throughout Brookgreen Gardens. We spent 5 hours here! It was lovely, the grounds were just beautiful, the greenery, trees, flowers were just as amazing as the sculptures throughout the park. There is a little cafe there, we split the tuna sandwich that was delicious and had a couple beers, loved that they served beer, lol, it was a great half way point throughout our walk. There is a zoo there as well, and you can tell the animals there are well cared for and thriving. 2 big bird aviarys as well. Was well worth the 22 pp entrance fee, but that is also good for 7 days. Our favorite visit our entire trip, and will be visiting again for sure!

Beautiful garden, quiet, colorful, sparse with sculptures, statues far from the attractions and activities of Myrtle Beach. We are calm, we wander the paths and paths of the park. Part of the park is dedicated to animals with a small farm and slightly more dangerous animals (alligator for example), you can also come across giant grasshoppers or dragonflies... a change of scenery guaranteed. In addition, the tickets are valid for 7 days, enough to benefit from them several times.

We were looking forward to going back to Brookgreen Gardens for the “Nights of a Thousand Candles” lights display for the holidays. The problem was that there was a very long line of cars trying to enter on Route 17 South for .7 mikes before the road in. Some cars were cutting in and others were coming from the south. After that it was still very slow going to present our prepaid ticket through the entrance booths. It appeared that some people didn’t have the prepaid tickets so they were causing a big delay. It probably took a good 45 or so minutes just to get in to the parking lot.
The lights were lovely but it was very crowded.
When we left we again had to wait through traffic that was still coming in to the display where the two directions went around a circle. I’m pretty sure we won’t attend this in the future even though the lights were spectacular. I just didn’t like the way it was organized to enter and exit.

A pleasant surprise on our visit to Myrtle Beach. You can spend 1-2 days exploring the Sculptures and gardens. Workers were very helpful and full of information. Some areas are more for adults but they have a Kids Zoo for the younger crowd. This is a must stop for the area.

What an amazing garden. My husband and I spent an entire afternoon touring the garden and came back the next day with additional family members on our way to Charleston from Myrtle Beach. Everyone totally enjoyed the garden. We will definitely visit the next time we go to the coast.

We took the Coastal Excursion boat tour along the Intercostal Waterway. Tours leave at 11:00.12:00.2:00 & 3:00. They only cost $10 too. You need to buy tickets in the museum closest to the boat dock ahead of time if you want to get a seat! It’s a popular tour for good reason. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and personable, and we enjoyed his talk a lot. You get to see a side of the plantation that you can’t see from the trails, and you learn a lot of history along the way. If you’re lucky, you might see some wildlife as you pass the banks. We saw a largish alligator and many birds. Tours last about 45 minutes and the time passes very quickly. I highly recommend this experience for lovers of history and the water!

Having read the reviews we were looking forward to our visit, we were not disappointed. Between all the beautiful gardens and magnificent statues you will be charmed and inspired. Well worth the cost. For us more mature visitors there are plenty of benches and sites to sit a spell and relax. The boat ride is a really great addition and not to be missed. Our only suggestion is a better map with a flow chart, as we had to back track a few times as we wondered through the connecting gardens.

This is an absolute must-see. Spending time in nature, surrounded by incredible sculpture is a fabulous way to spend a day. Lots of places to sit and take on the beauty. And since my very reasonable ticket is good for a week, I will be going back. And back.
You can take a picnic or enjoy a quick sandwich from The Old Kitchen. Be warned - the delicious sandwich is large enough for two! For a meal, the restaurant is excellent.
Stop by the gift shop. The selection is great and the staff is very helpful.

We have vacationed in Myrtle Beach off and on for 50 years, but for some reason had never gone to Brookgreen Gardens so this time we decided to go. I had read info on Tripadvisor as well as the website to learn ticket prices, hours, and more so I was prepared with sunscreen, hat, and closed toe shoes. However i DID NOT bring bug spray/repellent and that was a big mistake. Within the first hour, I was swatting mosquitos (or other annoying biting bugs) and trying not to scratch!
Other than that, it was an amazing but overwhelming place. The map they give you is not to scale and very difficult to follow. There are a couple "you are here" type maps, but not nearly enough. Also the name Brookgreen Gardens doesn't reveal that the place is full of sculptures both inside and out.
If you don't feel you've seen it all or don't get your fill in one day, your ticket is good for 7 consecutive days making it well worth the price of admission.

The Night of 1,000 Candles (light show) is amazing. It was truly a magical experience to walk leisurely through the lights in this glorious nature preserve. And the sculpture gardens alone are wonderful to see any time of year. I have not gone in the peak spring season, but I've now put it on my to-do list. This place had a peaceful, calming effect on me. Even with tons of people there, it didn't feel overcrowded; I felt embraced by the beauty of nature, sharing it with othersf who also appreciate nature and art. And it's also a good place for kids to run around without getting on other people's nerves, so I would recommend it for all ages.

We go to Brookgreen several times per year, and it is always remarkably beautiful, but we just got back from the Nights of a Thousand Candles event, and I must say that it was one of the most amazingly beautiful things I have ever seen. It's like you are in a wonderland with all of the lights in and amongst the trees. It is rather difficult to describe adequately. Everyone, especially the staff, is so friendly and in awe at the spectacle. You have to wonder about the number of hours it took for all of the staff to assemble this incredible show. There is live music from about 5:00 pm on, and it is pretty good. At 6:45, they are supposed to perform a "Tree Lighting" but beware, there is a long Christmas song, sing along event at the Pavillion where the event is to take place, so show up about 7:15 and you'll see it. It is amazing!
I just can't say enough about this event. Everyone should see this at some point in time. A special THANK YOU! to the staff at Brookgreen for their hard work and gracious spirit!

When we were there, the rhododendrons were in full bloom and I highly recommend this as a time to visit if you can do it. The statues in the gardens are Greco Roman which means that they are mostly naked so you might not want to bring children if you’re uncomfortable with that. Instead you would want to visit the zoo area where the statues are animals and children. This is an excellent place to have a beautiful time but also to learn about the rice plantations and the issue of slavery. I really recommend the boat trip as the narrator gives you a huge list of information. The Brookgreen gardens also supply a chance to teach your children about conservation and saving animals in the wild as they are responsible for re-populating the red wolf.

This was our second visit to this magnificent garden. There are so many sculptures on display by well known artists that it really takes multiple days to get it all in. Purchase of a ticket does allow visits for 7 days if I remember correctly. Founded in 1931 by the Huntington family (she sculpted many of the works on display) , this is a must see if you have any interest in fine art or botanical gardens.

I never visit the area without including Brookgreen on my agenda - I absolutely love this place. I did the Trekker and Oak excursions - each takes about an hour and the guides did a really nice job. I also love the wander the gardens and just relax.

This is an absolutely beautiful Gardens. It is very well kept, attendants throughout to help explain things. Sculptures are magnificent, very similar to many we saw on travels to Italy. You need to plan on walking and spending several hours there to see it all. I would though suggest to pack a picnic since the cafes are a bit pricey and the quick bites had really long lines as well. They do have picnic areas throughout.

Brookgreen has held a firm place in my plant-geek-sculpture-lovin' heart for many years, but my most recent visit during the Summer Light: Art by Night festival truly blew me away. The grounds featured carefully integrated glass artworks by Craig Mitchell Smith in the most otherworldly, nocturnal fairy-tale way. Utilizing the canopies of the stately oaks, glimmering water features, flowerbeds, and courtyards, Brookgreen's horticulture staff transformed the space into a summer dream. Before fully exploring the landscapes, my boyfriend and I enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Austin's Harvest heavily featuring locally/regionally-grown produce and local caught seafood. Best piece of mahi and tastiest scallop risotto I've ever had, hands down. Brookgreen also has a wonderful, upscale gift shop with many botanical treasures and books. Day or night, this garden is a true beacon of American art, ecology, fine dining, and history.

At first, cost seemed a bit much. Once we saw how big the gardens were and everything offered, DEFINITELY worth the price!

Great place to visit and stroll. Poetry garden, labyrinth, sculptures - so much to see and enjoy especially during the cooler months. You can spend hours here exploring. Highly recommend.

Very disappointing on the animals in the “zoo”and the “wildlife habitats” including otters, foxes, birds and alligators. The experience of walking around these animals was very upsetting, especially the birds and otter enclosures. The smell of rotten fish, flies everywhere, and the water quality of the pond was terrible. Brookgreen needs to focus their feature of just “gardens and sculpture” not necessary to include animals. Most of the wildlife is readily viewed on most coastal areas and farms. The “wildlife” feature should be eliminated, and look to re-home the animals and birds to other rehabilitation facilities within the southeastern coastal states. Other than the wildlife, the gardens are beautiful, and that is the only reason I would visit Brookgreen again! Brookgreen Gardens..should get out of the “zoo” and “wildlife” business!

Sculpture garden stunning , zoo are awesome. The Zoo is all rescued animals. We took a 45 minutes creek adventure tour. Our guide Bill is extremely knowledgable and funny. Love his story about Theodosia Burr (daughter of Aaron Burr) and her husband Joseph Alston whose plantation was nearby. Huntington State Park and Atalaya are across the street. Brookgreen I believe was another philanthropic endeavor of the Huntingtons.

Our family has visited here a few times and always enjoy ourselves. You can walk through the gardens, which include art sculptures and other sculptures are located inside a small museum as well. You can take a boat ride and see alligators. There are special guided tours available throughout the day. Be sure to get tickets upon arrival for special tours, like the boat or history tours.

Absolutely beautiful gardens with lots of sculptures. I have a new appreciation for sculptures! I’ve never been to a botanical garden that has so many gorgeous sculptures - and I’m not a huge sculpture fan! The grounds are exquisite and so well maintained. The butterfly garden is fabulous. There are very impressive “realistic” flower paintings in one of the galleries that are amazing to behold. This is a really big property, so wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to spend at least 2 hours. However, the tickets are good for 6 days, so you can come back if you don’t finish. It will be worth it! Highly recommend!!

Great place to spend the day. The gardens and sculptures are amazing. The little zoo is great. The otters are fun to watch. Don’t forget to bring a camera!

We visit Brookgreen Gardens whenever we come to Myrtle Beach. The grounds are wonderful and we’ve really enjoyed the special sculpture exhibits, such as the Rodin exhibit. The River Excursion is a must-do, depending on the weather. One of the other huge pluses for this attraction is that your admission tickets are good for a full week, something you surely will want to take advantage of.

Enjoyable visit to Brookgreen. Perfect on a mild weather day. Enjoyed the Rosen Gallery and the beautiful grounds….even in winter!

This was a very interesting place to visit. It has an interesting historical story. There are gardens, sculptures, trails, art, and much more. You could visit over multiple days.

This place is one of the most relaxing, beautiful places I’ve ever been! It’s very expansive and a lot larger than meets the eye. My mom and I spent about 4 hours here. Be prepared with your walking shoes! But, there are a lot of benches along the way. We could have spent even more time here since we chose not to take the boat excursion. The $18 entrance fee is worth every penny and definitely worth driving here from Myrtle Beach area. This is a place I would visit again if I come back to South Carolina.

Brookgreen Gardens is a must see for anyone who is interested in sculptures, gardens, animals, history, beautiful spaces, peace and tranquility. This place is huge and taken care of flawlessly. We took the Trekker bus tour as well as the boat tour - both well worth the price. The guides for each trip were very informative, knowledgeable, funny and friendly. We enjoyed our stay very much. There is so much to see and do here that you really need more than a day. This place renews my faith in humanity. Please visit and support them - you'll be glad you did.

Brookgreen Gardens in South Carolina is a mesmerizing blend of nature and artistry. The botanical garden is a haven for plant enthusiasts, boasting a diverse array of flora from delicate blooms to towering trees. Wandering through its lush pathways, visitors are treated to a sensory feast of colors, scents, and textures.
What sets Brookgreen Gardens apart is its captivating collection of sculptures scattered throughout the landscape. Each piece tells a story, evoking emotions and sparking contemplation. The seamless integration of art with nature creates a harmonious and enchanting atmosphere that enchants visitors of all ages. The garden also have a butterfly garden, lake and a zoo. We were fortunate to witness the birth of 3 baby goats during our visit. You have the option to take a lakeside cruise around the garden to learn the history and view the garden from the water.
Whether you're strolling among the blooming flowers, admiring the intricate sculptures, or simply soaking in the serene ambiance, Brookgreen Gardens is a treasure trove of beauty and tranquility, inviting you to linger and explore its wonders.
FYI: Remember to wear tons of bug spray bcuz if you don't you will be too miserable from the annoying bugs that you won't be able to enjoy the views.

We went there 3 times on our 5 day trip and still not sure we saw it all. the garden were lovely with the numerous statues all around. So calm and peaceful. Loved the live oaks and Spanish moss. And the night time light event was beautiful. Don't miss this place if you appreciate gardens and a peaceful place.

Brookgreen really needs no review! So beautiful! We bought a pass and went back many times during the month to walk. Very expansive grounds to get your steps and watch spring unfold. Our bonus was the Great Horned Owlet! The Low Country Zoo was fun for all, especially the playful otters. The boat ride, an extra charge, was relaxing and informative about the rice plantation history. Be sure to have lunch at the Old Kitchen.

You know how people say that you can’t describe something (like the Grand Canyon), and that you have to see it? That’s how I feel about this. It was incredible!
This is billed as a holiday event and, even though I was there on January 5th (the last night for this year), it felt like Christmas. There were two different bands (and they played some holiday tunes), plus a roving bagpipe player, and a tree lighting. Other stats include:
•2,700 candles are HAND LIT each night (volunteers re-light candles if they blow out)
•2 million additional lights throughout the gardens
•130,000 lights on the Christmas tree (as big as the tree in Rockefeller Plaza)
• 3 months to set up and 2 months to break down
•150 staff and volunteers
It runs for five hours every night from late November to early January. Entry is $35 for non-member and you definitely get your money’s worth.

With its unsurpassed outdoor sculpture collection and diverse and well-maintained gardens this is one of the main gems of the entire Grand Strand area. I highly recommend purchasing tickets for the boat excursion, too, as it’s an enjoyable 45-minute trip filled with historical information and great wildlife viewing. We were very pleased that the entrance tickets are good for a week. This gave us a chance to come back a second day to focus on the indoor sculpture galleries.

Do not miss a visit to this treasure! They were just transitioning to winter plantings and getting ready for the holiday lights in the garden event when we visited. That being said, it was still awesome. We marveled at the majestic trees covered in Spanish moss while enjoying the beautiful sculptures throughout the gardens. Grab a map so that you do not miss a thing. We walked around for over two hours. The weather was perfect this time of year as well. There is so much more that we didn't get to see. The tickets are good for 7 days so you dont have to try and do everything in one day, and I did notice they have late nights on Wednesday and Saturday. The nights of a million lights event is spectacular so if you are going to be in the area get your tickets now because I do believe it sells out. Also, make a point to stop at the Cafe. The food was delicious, the prices reasonable and the servers were great. We ate outside. Try the She Crab soup. It was incredible.

Our family of two adults and two kids <4 years had a lovely visit to Brookgreen Gardens. The walk around the grounds had a fun "sight" to see around every corner.
Based on our experience:
- Highly recommend arriving at opening hour of 9:30a to beat the heat of the day
- Our little ones picked up the children's "scavenger hunt" booklet at the welcome center and won a prize at the end of the visit
- Actual Zoo walk took us 60mins moving at a very fast pace, but really warrants 90minutes, with impressively accessible enclosed aviaries you walk through and otters that at least on our visit were easily seen
- For families with little ones, make sure you budget time for the Storybook Forest (a collection of ~10 or so little "forts" and child-size buidlings)
- Pontoon ride was critter-filled (alligators, turtles, birds, etc.) and delightfully breezy and accommodates strollers
Practically here was the itinerary: we arrived to the welcome center, walked through gardens & sculptures to reach the Low-country center where we booked our spots on the Creek Excursion and paid for the supplemental tickets and then onwards to the zoo curving around the back of the center on a partially board-walked series of viewing platforms. Afterwards, took the direct path from the Storybook Gardens back to the Low Country Center (this path starts by being next to a street then heads towards Bethea's Garden and the Low-country center). From there you can easily see the boat dock. After that, we'd been there for 3 hours and our kids were ready for lunch so we headed back to the car via other gardens/sculptures and then 15 minutes' onwards to the Marsh Walk in Murrels' inlet

You must see Brookgreen Summer Nights. The flowers have never been prettier. There are new innovations in lighting. You have choices of good eating venues The Rosen Gallery has a great exhibit

Excellent collection of sculpture set in beautiful gardens. Also, interesting historical exhibits and a zoo with heritage livestock. We came three times during the week.

I’m a local and we used to be members. While the gardens themselves are nice, many times of the year the experience is underwhelming due to the nature of the seasons ( dormancy of various plants). Members used to have more perks ie, admission to biweekly concerts in the summer, now every event held in the evening is an up charge, the variety and quality of musicians seems to have declined as well. It’s worth seeing once, however increasing greed makes membership a joke.

The sculpture and gardens are five stars!
We had lunch at the Harvest Restaurant, this was the best meal in Myrtle Beach!
This is a must-do if you love sculpture, gardens, history ...

Although the grounds are pretty, so much of it was just getting planted, and there were areas under construction. On top of that, the day we were there, the zoo portion was closed, which was one of the main reasons we had gone. We didn’t get any of this information until after we had paid, parked, and then talked to a volunteer. It was very disappointing. We live very far away and this was likely our only chance to attend. Had we been told any of this we would not have paid that much to go in. Just a recommendation, but it may be nice to discount the tickets when under construction.

Beautiful gardens with amazing sculptures. The zoo is very small but cute. The enclosure for the ducks needs to be fixed. It doesn't have enough water for all the birds. The playground for kids is huge. The garden could flow better.

Beautiful grounds with a large staff keeping it impeccable. We walked almost all of the garden and "beyond the wall" paths. Lovely surprises around almost every corner. The live oak alley is truly stunning.
Walking down to the viewing platform (beyond the garden wall), we almost stepped on a sweet rat snake getting warm in the sun. Poor little guy was just minding his own business!
This was an eye-opening experience. New, old, small, large… this place was jaw dropping and simply amazing. Hidden gem and very, very affordable. Bring well fitted walking shoes and keep your ticket… it’s good for 6 days! (you’ll need at least two days to really appreciate it!)
