Great place to visit huge and lots of trails. Beautiful scenery and fun just to drive through. Beautiful lakes to see. Very peaceful.

This is a lovely State Park in Brown County. Many hiking trails of varying intensity, with spectacular views on your drive as well. Did not camp here, just a day trip and a picnic, which the park offers many opportunities. A very relaxing way to spend the day in beautiful surroundings. The Nature Center is worth the visit and so is the Tower for a expansive view.

We LOVE visiting Brown County State Park! We brought friends on our motorcycles and loved riding through the park and taking in the scenery.

Lovely Sunday walk around the lake, just us girls and my grandsons. Not too long but able to spot turtles sunning themselves while we strolled.

Fun to explore. Hike and sight see. Great views. Fun playgrounds for kids! My family enjoyed our time here. Oh they have horses too! We will be back hopfully soon. Would be amazing in the fall to see the leaves!

Our friends rent a pontoon boat, annually. We enjoy the water and our time together, for a day. It is esp nice when there are less folks on the water too.

This is a wonderful park with many beautifully spots to enjoy nature’s beauty. It also has great amenities - the Abe Martin Lodge is a great place to stay.

Beautiful fall leaves and good hiking trails by 2 lakes. Abe Martin Lodge has lunch and nice grounds. Nature center is interesting as well. Lots of people in October. Have fun!

We visited in mid June. The park is gorgeous with fantastic views from many vista's. We visited all 7 vista points along with the Fire Towers. Very beautiful lakes which are probably better in spring or fall when there is more rain. One of the creeks was pretty dry but still beautiful. We're planning to go back in the fall when the colors are changing. I'm sure it will be stunning.

Brown county is beautiful in the fall and we visited to walk, ride bikes, and enjoy the scenery. The weather was perfect an the park lovely but there really wasn't anyplace for the causal biker to ride. The trails were all for mountain bikers which was out of our league.
We tried riding around the camps and roads but there were too many cars on the roads no the camps were not very interesting for bikers.

Great getaway for a hike through nature. Quite, peaceful, trails were well kept. Highly recommend if enjoy easy hiking.

Took a drive after a day of shopping in Nashville IN. It was almost dark and we did not realize how huge this park is! There is a $7 fee per car which I found unusual for a state park, but we decided to explore since it was the #1 attraction in the area. It is a lovely park, swimming pool, tennis courts, cabins, and a lodge which looked lovely from a drive through persepective. There was a full moon and several points to stop and pull over and view. We thought we were in the Smoky Mountains... lots of hills and valleys. There are ziplines and horseback riding as well. We got a little turned around and there are some treacherous curves and turns which after dark probably seemed worse, but we found our way out... there are lots of signs showing directions. We decided next trip to come in the daytime and enjoy the scenery.

This place is beautiful. I just got back from a day trip. The fall leaves were at peak season. There are so many places to view them and the trees almost look like they are endless. You can drive and not get out if you want, but I would recommend try to walk over to a leaf viewing area so you can see just how vast they are. We also went to the nature center and I was very impressed with all the creatures they have for you look at and read about. There are several live creatures as well. Snakes, birds, and turtles.
I can’t wait to go back and spend a few days.

Enjoyed a sunny day walking the trails of Brown County. A little early for the really beautiful fall trees, but just a great place to spend time with nature.

We love Brown County State Park. Driving through is nice and we did Trail 7 ( around Ogle lake/ pond. We also wanted to do number 6 which is around Strahl (?) pond/lake but it as getting dark. Great for multiple days as there seems to be a pool restaurants and camping. Do not know if there is a general store?
Nashville is very close.

Excellent State Park Camping. Electric and Water only. Clean & level campsites. Bike or cycle the beautiful.campground roads. Excellent lodge and food service as well.Great hiking trails and really enjoyed Kyacking
A+++ Camping experience!

Had some great hikes with my wife on our visit to Brown County State Park. Awesome nature walks. This is also a great place for experienced cyclists with some great hill climbing.

It seems that if the park itself doesn't have it, you can get it nearby. For example, there are two small "lakes" within park boundries, but Lake Monroe is next door.
Well maintained facilities (including campground restrooms during a busy week). Many nice campsites, with a large specialized horse campground. Swimming pool, lodge, wonderful nature center, camp store. Many spots for picnics. Beautiful vistas along the road of the surrounding terrain. Miles of hiking trails, a few easy but many with varying elevation changes. Fun tourist town of Nashville nearby. Many more trails just to the south in the Hoosier National Forest. College town of Bloomington to the west. Architectural town of Columbus to the east. Such a concentration of nature, history, dining, culture and just having fun within an easy drive. Sometimes it is too popular.

Drove thru the park and took in a lot of the great views across the hill tops. The park offers a lot of activities for all ages. Mountain Biking, hiking, picnic, camping, cabins, nature center, horseback riding, hammock-Ing ( made up but you know what I mean) . Only downside is you must pay to enter the park. Our rate was $9. The Ranger looked at our car tags and said because you are out of state you have to pay more. We were a little surprised..we had a rental car, so if we had the good fortune to have had Indiana tags, our rate would have been less; AND we ate dinner at the lodge within the park, so if you go to eat you have to pay, which seems odd, but the rules are what they are.

We actually went here to stay at the Abe Martin Cabins. Driving through the park it is very clean with a lot of activities for families. We are hoping to go back in the fall.

We loved our hikes in the park + horseback riding. Although all the leaves had already fallen, it was still a gorgeous place to be. We hiked several different trails. Pay attention to when the park closes - early November the park is shut down for several days.

Went to see if a good location for the family. The park is beautifull; the lodge was clean and quite. Hugh swimming pool. Many activies for kids (slides, basketball in pool, etc.)
Many trails to hike and they had family cabins we were not aware of. Have to investigate. Close enough to Lodge that we could walk w/kids for pool.
Nashville was typical small town to buy crafts, etc. but being a lover of ice cream
and fudge and pizza there were many places to choose. Nashville was really fun to
walk through even though we did not buy stuff. Maybe 5 blocks.
Sept. was good time to go; not crowded and trees not in Fall beauty. I bet October
is bumper to bumper.

First time visiting this state park. The facilities were very nice and our interaction with the staff was pleasant.

Great place for hiking and to look at the scenery - will be fantastic when the leaves change colors
$9 per car
Will go again

Took a little drive to Nashville and stopped at the Park for a nice car drive through Nature and then a short hike around Stahl Lake. It wasn't crowded and we had the place to ourselves.

Though I live in Alaska now, I grew up in Indiana and was eager to get back to Brown County state park. We were too early for good fall colors, but this is a beautiful park. The trails are well marked and in good shape, and the map let you know how easy/difficult they are. There is at least one accessible trail near the Visitor Center. We climbed the fire tower there and discovered you can't get onto the platform, but the view was still lovely. We were not camping, but there were camper areas and facilities. I would have given the park five stars, but for this: the staff seemed pretty indifferent to our presence. The Visitor Center exhibits were engaging, especially the bird room, but we never saw any rangers, though we could hear them talking and laughing in another room. I realize it is the end of a long season, but hey, get out and chat a bit! The ranger at the entrance gate was also unwelcoming. They should be proud of such a lovely park! Anyway, it is well worth a stop and hike at least- those huge trees are just amazing.

I think two days is good to hike the trails . The trail 8 was most tiring good thing we started off on the left side from playground and made a big loop lots of stairs that was we had to go down ( good thing we did not turn R when we started or else we would have had to climb those up instead of down :)
we also did trail 2 beautiful hike
next day trail 7 around ogle lake , trail 6 around strahl lake and just amazing views with the beautiful colora of fall leaves ...
perfect for soaking in all that natural beauty and fresh crisp air.

The leaves were still pretty this late in the season. We didn’t have time to stop very long. Got out to view the scenery- so beautiful!

I’ve been hiking the trails of Brown County since I was a kid. It’s a great place to see the fall colors. And we always hike around the lakes. So beautiful.

Beautiful overlooks and a lot to offer in this park. It is the finest treasure in Indiana. You can ride horses or go mountain biking or simply walk the miles of trails. The nature center is a great place for all ages as well.

Lots to do here! There is a restaurant & tearoom, swimming, horseback riding, hiking, covered bridge, and don't miss the nature center with the bird sanctuary. We were there for the day, but didn't get to do everything. The Ranger at the kiosk was very helpful as was the map he gave us. If in Brown County-don't miss the park!

Came here in June for a mini vacation and was not disappointed. The trails were in great condition for hiking and the weather, for once, was absolutely perfect. I would recommend Brown County State Park to everyone as both a day trip and a mini vacation destination.

This is in the top 5 of the best Indiana state parks. This is a beautiful area & fall is the best for scenic viewing.
Brown County is a hiking park & there's several great hikes.
There's also a pool & scenic drives.
Stop at North & West lookout towers (they look like old fort towers). There's also a firetower you can climb across from a cute little cabin called Hoosier's Nest.
The nature center is the best in Indiana IMO!
I couldn't tell if the saddle barn was open, but they offer trail rides. There's also a horseman's campground with horse trails.
Lots of picnic shelters & random picnic tables scattered around the park.
The electric campground is ok, but the sites are VERY close & it's very crowded on summer weekends & leaf peeper season. The campsites are on ridges & some have bad inclines.
Don't miss the double lane covered bridge at the North entrance. One of only 4 in the USA!
Nashville Indiana is right outside the park with restaurants & grocery stores. It's also a quaint little town reminiscent of Gatlinburg. Lots of shops.

This is a fantastic campground and state park. Employees were all very friendly and the country store was great for anything we left at home while we camped this weekend. Quiet and large camp sites with plenty of shade where we were (Buffalo sites). Affordable rates. Clean bathrooms and nice amenities. Beautiful hiking trails very close to the camp sites. We love that this is an animal friendly camping site and our dog enjoyed the trails as much as we did. Trails were well kept and I can't wait to come back!!

This park is beautifully cared for, and offers varied activities, especially for children. The nature center is interesting, with different activities, which are posted on a calendar inside the door. Entrance fee to the park is $7 per day.

Brown County State Park is a great place to spend time together with your family and hike the many trails.

We did a hike around 2 different lakes. Could use a little trimming though. Lots of butterflies and even a little salamander!
Nice park overall.

This park is amazing!! We are already planning on returning in the fall. The trees were bare, and it was still beautiful! Be sure to walk the trail around the lake! So many fun spots!

Great views. Very nice drive. The lodge is historic & pretty, and nice hiking trails. I didn't stay here but would consider doing so, the views all around the park are stunning.

We are seniors and the hike was fine. Saw many turtles sunning themselves on logs. The various trails are marked by difficulty.

The grounds were well kept. Lots of trails for hiking. Great restaurant at the lodge. There is a small fee for entry, however keep your your receipt and you can come and go as much as you like until closing for one fee.

Enjoyed hiking the park yesterday. Hiked three different trails for a total of 11+ miles. Was exhausted by end of day... great exercise! Terrain pretty much the same on every trail. Hike around Strahl Lake was very pretty with the turning leaves. Climbed the fire tower but it was closed at the last level. Wished I would've seen more wildlife, other than squirrel and chipmunks.

A beautiful place to visit during the fall. Many different trails to hike. Excellent nature center. Very helpful staff. Bonus, the oldest covered bridge in Indiana.

My grandson loves searching for wildlife as we drive or hike the park. Beautiful little lakes, observation towers, and a nature center add to the exploration. Reasonable vehicle fee for park entrance. Lots of pull-offs for picnics as well! In-door waterpark at the lodge is another hit with the grandkids.

If you grew up in central or southern Indiana chances are you have visited this amazing park. Great memories of scout camp outs, church groupsand scenic romps with high school girl friends. Great hiking trails and some amazing scenic views especially in the fall when the leaves are beautiful. This is a huge park. Go off the beaten path and enjoy some great private time with friends. Great facility for weddings and winter cabin adventures.

Cost us 9.00 to get in 7.00 if in Indiana, but becuz we stayed at Abe Lincoln Lodge we only had to pay once, just show your lodge room key card and your in free. But the park is so beautiful this time of year with all the fall colors, winding roads thru the park, trails, look out towers, worth the trip especially if you love nature...

Our family of seven camped in a pop-up in Taylor Ridge. For those not familiar with Brown County State Park, what we figured out is that Taylor Ridge is the farthest back of all the campsites (although I'm not including the horse camps as I'm not sure where those are located). Buffalo Ridge is the first campsite once we turned off of 46. It is the first whether you enter the North Gate or West Gate but the North Gate has a covered bridge with a height restriction of 9 feet and a weight limit (which I don't remember). Buffalo Ridge has trees but is more open. As we continued to drive, we passed Raccoon Ridge which we never actually drove through to see. There are lots along Hillside Drive but we felt like those would not have been a good choice for having little ones with us since they're right off the main road that goes to Taylor Ridge and they're basically on the edge of the ridge so the kids would be more constrained (except for a few locations that have several lots bundled together). Taylor Ridge is beautiful but if we visit the State Park again, we'll probably choose Buffalo Ridge since it's a little closer to everything and provides some open, grassy areas.

We visited the park in March of 2021 as a spur of the moment trip. Even though it wasn't fall, it wss a nice walk on the trails in the park. I can't imagine how pretty it is in the fall! Definitely a place to stop anytime of the year.

Weather cooperated and we were able to log over 15 miles of hiking in the beautiful park. Both trails around the lakes are very peaceful and pretty. Relaxing and enjoyable.

After a busy graduation period, myself and my family enjoyed 2 great days hiking around this state park. Trails were beautiful and staff were very friendly. Some trails could be better signposted but that may just be my terrible map reading skills.

This state park is one of the best I've been to. This is the first time I've been there in the fall and it is simply amazing! All the beautiful colors of leaves is just magical.

I tried to edit a previously written review. We love this campground and have been 4 times in the past year. It is beautiful and peaceful. I only wanted to do an edit because the shower houses need a serious update. The water has only one temperature, and that is SCALDING. You can't stand to be under it. They really need to fix this. It is not only very unpleasant, but also dangerous. Especially for little ones, or people who may be diabetic and have neuropathies. Other than that, I love this place!

After exploring the local town, we did a quick drive though at the end of the day. Beautiful vistas, really nice cabins for rent, and a pretty dynamite lodge with indoor pool is just some of what this park has to offer.
Could of sworn I was in North Carolina.

This is a beautiful park. The camp grounds are great if you have a camper or tent. We go there to mountain bike and there are plenty of trails to explore. There are trails there for everyone, beginners to expert riders. If your looking to do 7 miles to 100 miles this park has it all. Hobbs Hollow Flow trail is a must! So much fun! Crooked Creek I would say if your a more technical rider go for it, but not an easy one for a rider like myself. I hiked most of that trail. Again lots of trails to explore for sure. Def worth checking out. The views are amazing also of course! End of October if you want to catch the colors changing on the leaves.

Pretty state park with several structures built in the 1930s by the CCC. LODGE IS CUTE. WE STAYED IN A RUSTIC CABIN . WAS NICER THAN EXPECTED. TOOK A HUKE NEAR THE NATURE CENTER TO THE Stahl Lake. Lots of steps through the woods and down to the lake, then around and back up again. Driving around was interesting too. Sterp ravines, lots of tall trees just beginning fall color change saw several deer and birds. Enjoyed our visit. Nice employees. Oh and a covered bridge at North gate entrance.

We hiked around Ogle Lake on a beautiful warm early November day. It was a great time. It is listed as moderate in the guide and that seems accurate. My four yr old granddaughter led our expedition and let us know when stairs or a bridge was ahead. We had our 2 yr old granddaughter also and in some parts she needed to be carried but managed most of it pretty easily. The lake is beautiful and we saw turtles and plenty of chipmunks. Very enjoyable for all.

This state park is beautiful. We walked the trail around Ogal Lake. It's a fairly easy trail with a beautiful view of the lake. We also enjoyed the view from the look out tower.

I love this place! Whether its to go on a picnic, hike,or just take in the views. Mushroom hunting in the spring is a must! And the nature center is an all time favorite of mine.

We picked a very warm humid day to hike, but hike we did. Almost ten miles on the trails. We felt they could have kept the trails a little cleaner. There was one area where a footbridge was broken and had not been repaired. It was unattractive knowing that we pay taxes to help upkeep the park. The smaller toilets throughout the parks were basically covered outhouses with no toilet paper or sinks. The toilets near the camping area was very clean, with soap, toilet paper, and hand dryers.
We ended a hike in one place and had to walk almost 1 mile to get back to our car. Otherwise we did have a great hike and the peacefulness was incredible. We started our hike around 9:00 and only saw three people on the trails the whole day! It was almost like we had the park to ourselves.

This park has something for everyone. Saddle trails, bike trails, hiking, camping, cabins, a lodge, and beautiful scenery! One of my favorite places anywhere. Nearby in Nashville are all the craft and antique stores, but tbh it’s been a tourist trap for a long time. Still love the food and some of the shops though!
Any time of year is great to visit, but if you’re taking in the fall foliage, avoid weekends if possible, by noon or so it’s incredibly crowded during peak weekends. But you can still enjoy yourself if you get to the park 8-9 am and spend a couple of hours driving to all the overlooks. Then find a trail to hike. Most people are just driving from spot to spot.
Better yet go during the week, and stay on grounds for a couple days. No crowds to speak of, and it’s just so much more enjoyable.

Wonderful place to camp, drive through, deer spot, hike, sit and relax or just about anything else. Highly recommend a stop at the horse barn, the horse camp in addition to the regular camp areas. VERY COOL park!

We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our weekend gateway in Brown County. During our stay in one of the cabins, we hiked the state park and end up fishing at Ogle lake. The park was fully equipped and perfect for several activities. Definitely will visit again next time I’m in Brown County!

Just beautiful. Great hiking and mountain bike trails. Cabins to rent. Cool nature center that's great for kids.

We visited in the fall. Leaves were just beginning to turn.. Just beautiful. Many scenic outlooks. Behind the Rustic cabin we stayed in there were hickory nuts falling from the trees when there was a breeze. There was also a woodpecker we heard and finally got to watch him work on a tree. Beautiful park.

Nice clean room. Ask for a first floor room that has a walk out to the patio. Only complaint for the room is that the beds are super firm (yep, hard). Didn't sleep well at all. $7 admission for parking, but if you leave the park and go back in, just show your key. We were prepared to go walking, but were unprepared for the many, many stairs and hills to do so. We aren't THAT in shape ! There are many picnic tables - wish there were more that had grills. We found a nice spot to roast hot dogs though. The restaurant breakfast buffet isn't worth the money.

This park was great! Beautiful fall foliage and look out areas. Nature center. We drive through the north gate. There is a covered wooden bridge. It is a nice park with camping areas and a lodge.

I have often been to Brown County in the fall, but I think this was my first summer trip. It was a cloudy-turned-sunny day, and we took trails one and three. We hiked to the amphitheater and then to the horse barns on trail one, then took trail three part way back, deciding to get back on the road at the first place where trail three met the road. Big mistake, as trail three soon departed from the road and we found we were taking the very long way around. Eventually we got back to the car, exhausted but having had fun! I love fall in Brown County, but now I love summer there too!

Went on a mini vacation with family to the cabins. It was a great setting, great park and great lodge. Overall, great experience. Also, Nashville has a lot of cute shops

Great facilities and a peaceful setting make this a great destination. A beautiful lodge, cabins, campgrounds, serene lakes, shaded trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding are all available.

great place to hike swim ride horses watch birds camp in tent or motorhome camper full hook ups to primative

Let me start off by saying I’m new to camping. Recently purchased a camper and took our first long trip (3.5 hrs) to Brown County and couldn’t have been more pleased. It is less than 10 minutes to the campsite from the gate. We stayed at Buffalo Ridge site 43 right across the street from the restrooms, not a great campsite only because there just wasn’t a lot of room because we were close to the road and with 2 dogs it would have been better if it was bigger but we made do. We loved trails 4,5,&7. Our dogs were even bigger fans! We didn’t explore too much of the park but hiked those trails everyday. The bathrooms were great, although the shower heads felt like needles. Store was open so that was nice. Overall we had a great experience and even though it was almost a 4 hour drive we will be visiting this State Park again!

We stayed in the lodge last night. We had planned on staying tonight too. But, I had a friend die and had to come home. Our room was nice. Love the way it was decorated. They have an indoor water park and hot tub. We didn't get a chance to use it, but there was several families in there. Hotel staff was very nice. It is a beautiful park with lots of things to do. We hope to get back up there this spring and spend an entire weekend.

Stayed in a couple of cabins with lady friends in June for long weekend. Excellent place. We were so pleased with the cabins. And we even got a hayride!!

Beautiful scenery and setting for trail runs. There are stations around for replenishment, but I'd recommend bringing hydration as there are many miles and trails to run.

Stayed in their Cale Fluhart cabin. Really neat
No maid service, which was alright. Just swapped towels at front desk whenever needed.price was comparable to over places to stay.

Nice little park that you can drive around with stops for scenery easily in one day. In the fall I would allow for two days which would allow for some trail hiking. Out of state folks get charged $9 which is absurd but the way it is.

My wife and I visited Brown County State Park over the Labor Day Weekend and had a great time. The park is beautiful and has amazing scenic lookouts. Whether you like horseback riding, hiking or biking, you'll enjoy this park.

Enjoyed Spring Break with daughter , son-in law, and grandkids aged 4 and 7. Hiking trails were very nice with no bugs and no sweating. Especially liked trails around Strahl Lake (6), Ogle Lake and Ogle Hollow (7,4, &5) and North Lookout Tower and Hesitation Point (8). Kids loved the Nature Center especially the bird feeding area

Since I was in this park a few years ago with my young family, several activities have been added. The park is absolutely beautiful for hikers, campers, and horse riders, as well as those who stay in the cabins or lodge. I wish we had arrived earlier in the day to enjoy more of the parks features.
Our only complaints would be that we came to eat dinner in the lodge and had to pay an out-of-state fee to get into the park in order to get to the restaurant, adding to our expense. The meal was subpar for the cost.

This is a nice park. The lookouts are amazing views, but these are the only views to be had. The bathrooms were clean but very beat up. There is horseback riding and a pool (extra charge for both). The camping store is very tight and small for such a large campground. The sites are often on a hill and very small. Nothing is close, pool is 4 miles from campground. The staff is friendly. We liked it, just didn't love it.

This place is gorgeous. Stayed in campground for fall colors in 2020 and wasn't disappointed. Clean grounds. Great hiking and great views. Came back for the day to hike and enjoy the park while on a girls weekend trip. Highly recommend staying here or going for the day to take in the beauty!

It's a nice large natural park. Lots of green space and plenty of wooded areas too. It was clean and there was parking nearby.

The beautiful trails of brown county were perfect for Spring Break. We had the trail to ourselves. Both our dogs and kids loved it. Highly recommend.

There is a variety of hiking trails available with various difficulties. When you enter the park you are given a park guide with the hiking trails clearly described, based on location and difficulty. We did three trails and found the "moderate" description was accurate. The trails were fairly well marked and maintained. We also climbed the fire tower, only to find the very top level padlocked! Grrr! But if you're interested in doing a hike, there is enough variety to satisfy you!

Beautiful rolling hills. Awesome views even from the car. One entrance has a covered bridge! Camping, hiking, mountain biking, horses trails, and swimming at their outdoor pool.

Really beautiful part, I was here for the entire day and walked around one of the lakes. The park is beautiful and has natural views of the state of Indiana. There’s even a gift shop in the main lodge and a main dining dining room with a beautiful courtyard. You can spend the whole day in here there’s lots too do. I even got to see the cabin that Mike Pence stays in when he visits the state of Indiana.

Nice scenery (specially during the fall when all leaves are turning colors). You can do biking and hiking or just relax. We did take lots of picture of my granddaughter and they turn out really good.

Girls trip to Brown county! Gentleman at the gate was helpful and gave us several tips for where to start. Trails are nice! Check out Ogle Lake! Beautiful!

Amazing trails, some very difficult. Great pool and a few lakes to enjoy. We love getting food in town and then finding a place in the park at an outlook to eat. The campground is amazing and one of our favorite places to take our camper.

Brown County is a beautiful park! The trees didn’t change yet and I’m sure it’s even more beautiful in the fall! The trails are well maintained! We took trail 1,3, and 6. The auto tour can be found on the parks website and was really interesting, we just had a problem getting cell service enough to listen the whole way. We stayed at one of the Abe Martin Cabins. The cabin is better than camping but not a resort. Take a blanket, there’s a mini fridge and a microwave. There is no television and AT&T cell service sucked. If you stay at the inn you can have wifi, but not in the cabin. The cabin was as clean as you can expect. The shower was a trickle! The bed was firm and comfortable! There was no fire-pit at our cabin or a place to cookout which would’ve been nice. We had 2 breakfasts included but only went once because the hostess Amanda was the rudest person I’ve met in my entire life. The food at the inn was good though. We rode the horses and the staff there are super friendly! This was an exciting trail ride for us because they actually had us run the horses a bit to keep them together! The ride is fairly priced at $21 or $31 each with the option of a 35 minute or 60 minute ride. We chose the 35 minute which was plenty for us amateurs! Pony rides for kids are $3.50.

We knew one day would not be enough time to get to everything we wanted to see and do for our trip. We did a lot of hiking, was able to do some fishing, and had a nice picnic lunch. The park offeres several trails and areas in which to spend time. Looking forward to getting to see more of the park. Although we did not bring bikes, there are several miles of mountain bike trails.

CAMPING AT THIS STATE PARK is one of our most looked forward to trips of the year. We usually make it to the park in early spring, sometimes with snow still on the ground and then again in late summer or early fall.
My job keeps me busy on the weekends so we like to visit during the week. The camp ground will be super quiet and it is very relaxing. One small downer is not all the activites in town are open or at full go so you might miss out on some of that action.

Great bird watching and fishing between indianapolis and louisville a beautiful place worth the stop and go to louisville while youre at it

Beautiful views year round. Fall & spring are my favorite. Bring a lunch for a picnic in the park with beautiful views. And this is one of my favorite camping locations are well. Check out the horse riding too

If you love hiking, trail riding on your bike, photography or camping, you will not find a better park to visit. Beautiful scenery, many activities, and the friendly staff, will make for a very enjoyable experience.

Beautiful well marked trails with nice lakes and lots of picnic areas. Friendly rangers. The overlooks give you long looks and beautiful views. Didn’t see much wildlife though but it was quiet and peaceful.

For hikers and explorers, this is one of the most gorgeous state parks. The trails are very nice, however, there were times when we felt that the park was slightly uncleanly, however, it was not an uncomfortable amount. Definetly a recommended must-do!

What a beautiful place so much to do! Hiking, riding, you can camp, there is a hotel and restaurant. If you cannot walk, hike or bike you can drive thru the entire Park roads are nicely paved and smooth. You will sprang hours here!

Brown Countyj State Park is beautiful all seasons Something for everyone. Many nice look-outs. Lodge is beautiful. Good food in dining room.

Beautiful scenery and trails. Gorgeous views from vistas. Terrain is great for a good hiking workout. We did 5 miles. Seemed crowded when we got there but for the most part, we had the trails to ourselves. Bathrooms very very...basic :)

The whole reason we planned a weekend trip was to hike this park along with some side trips. What a disappointment. We tried the Ogle Lake trail first. It's just a small trail around the lake kind of through the woods. Little did we know the trail was closed halfway through and we had to turn around. There's nothing extraordinary to see while hiking. After, we saw a playground nearby so we took our 3 kids. It had GRAVEL as a base and the structure seemed unsafe. We were highly disappointed and won't go back.

Very nice hiking trails. Horseback riding is available but we will have to come back to enjoy that. Hope to come back soon and stay in the lodge or cabins.

love going here every year. like being in the mountains almost! great for nature watching and having a relaxing time.

We were diverted here because of the hurricanes, and it was a nice substitution. We stayed at the lodge while the rest of our family stayed in a cabin. There were many trails to hike, a nice nature center, and a huge indoor aquatic center. The slide in the aquatic center was lots of fun!

This park is great. There is a lodge, camping, and cabins for your stay. The hiking trails are just plain beautiful. We usually stay in the cabins. They are nice and set back into the woods a little, just feels more woodsy to me than the lodge. Book early as everything fills up quickly. The lodge has a restaurant and the park is fairly close to town. We usually do a day in Nashville, IN shopping and wandering around. Then a day in the park hiking and having a great time.

We camped in the Taylor Ridge loop. Many wooded sites with electricity. It’s a good drive back to the end of Taylor Ridge, but worth it for the cozy wooded sites, some with great views. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked. The showers were hot with good water pressure and good privacy. There are a couple of good pull offs on the West Gate road to watch a sunset, which is a must!
This was our first visit in the summer and I was surprised and delighted to see the haziness of the distant hills. Reminded me of the Smokies. For reference, the hikes around both lakes are nice (we have done in the fall and the reflections are beautiful in the fall season), but I would drive to the parking lot and catch the hikes from there. The trails to the lake through the woods are very hilly and strenuous. We did enjoyed trail 10 that looped through the woods by the fire tower. I would rate that moderate.
We ate at Abe Martin Lodge for breakfast. The pancakes were the size of a dinner plate! Be sure to only get a 1/2 order. The bacon and pancakes
were good. Service was slow due to staffing, but staff friendly. Cleanliness of restaurant 4/5.
So close to Nashville that you can have the best of both worlds with peaceful seclusion camping in the woods, and nice shopping and dining options in town. Best of both worlds! We will be back!

They call this park The Little Smokies. It will make you think that when you see the overlooks especially after a summer rain. Columns of "smoke" rise from the vallies after most rains. Friends visiting from the east coast said it reminds them of Vermont.
In the fall it could be called Litte Vermont, Its very busy there in the Fall when the leaves turn. The Overlooks are even more beautiful then.
The park has been ran very well for many years and attracts visitors from many surrounding states. Being next to Nashville Indiana is a big plus as well. Nashville is a great tourist town.

We have camped and hiked here this year. The hiking is good, fairly moderate and good for young family. The camping is also enjoyable.

Beautiful Park for hiking and enjoying. We just drove through and saw the grounds- camping areas, nature center, pool, lake and horse riding area. You could do a like of hiking here. Note Out of State visitors are charge $9 access charge.

Great camping, we prefer the wooded Taylor Ridge campground but Buffalo Ridge is closer to the main entrance and camp store. Campground was clean and lots of families around, felt very safe. This park is close to Nashville IN which is a unique artists community with many shops and restaurants.

We were a group of 4 adults, 2 teens, and a preteen. We tent camped for 5 nights in the Racoon Ridge campground. We had 2 sites, #126 and #128. I highly recommend #128! It was very spacious and fully shaded. If a second site is needed, I would rather of had #129 as it was closer, more level, and more spacious than #126.
The campground was very quiet and not over crowded due it being for tent camping (no electric).
The showers' water was extremely hot! Some in the group saw this as a plus, others could hardly handle it. They were fairly clean and a little small but this is expected of a campground.
It is a very large park with lots of hiking, biking, and horse trails, 2 lakes for fishing, a large, nice swimming pool, and an awesome nature center. I would highly recommend a visit!

Beautiful park with a nice narrated audio tour. Loved the North Tower. Numerous picnic areas. Restrooms were extremely clean and well maintained.

Starts off with a very warm friendly welcome with just a $7 fee for an instate person. And we get a beautiful entrance with a tiny house over the board-walk. The route to the Inn is breath-takingly beautiful with lush green trees all around. Plenty of Parking available at the Lodge. The Staff at the reception could be a little friendlier when asked questions and details about the Park. Trails 1, 2 and 3 are all amazing. The views from the destinations of each are worth the hike. You also get a chance to meet the horses in their stables and grazing in the field. The trails are full of horse-poop and that is the only drawback of the hike. Thousands of Fireflies all around during the Sunset, but make sure to complete the hike right after the Sunset because it tends to get dark pretty quickly in the woods. Besides, the markings are not so very clear for the trails, you might even get lost. However, due to good Network coverage within the woods, we can easily access internet and GPS.

Brown County State Park is a great place to visit, ride through and camp.
The RV sites, at least the ones we have had are good but not large though. On this visit we didn't have a place to park a tow vehicle and this site was a bit tough to level an RV.
The view, the nature, the ability to walk and walk and walk, well, it's a great place, quiet and clean.
They have Rest stations, just bathrooms with a toilet and the closest to this site was a nearly brand new plastic composite building. They also still have some of the old fashioned wooden structures as well.
The shower building was about a 1/2 mile from our site. Walkable in good weather, not so much with this rainy weekend.
Camp store, Nature Center and of course Nashville is a short drive from the Park.
We purchased the yearly pass which gets us into all of the State parks for the season.
Definitely a great State Park and one that we will always return to.

We went here for a hike and found the park well maintained. The #10 trail is rugged and over 2 miles but we enjoyed the hike. Nice nature center here also. No welcome center but they have a store by the campgrounds. Looking fwd. to a revisit and would like to camp here next time.

The beauty of the park. My daughter and I spent time in the park. We took a trail ride through the park in the early morning. We hiked some trails then went onto Lake Monroe for an afternoon of Kayaking. We then went on to the small town of Nashville and had dinner and visited the shops. We also took a local train ride to hear the history of the town. A full day in southern Indiana.

was in the Nashville Indiana area and decided to check out Brown County State Park. Upon entering at about 4 in the afternoon we were told it would be 9.00 to enter and 7.00 if you were Indiana resident. I have traveled all over the US and have never been charged to enter a state park. I asked so what will be see for 9.00 and was told "trees" We left and saw "trees" on our own :(

Awesome place close by to me. Beautiful overlooks and trails and nature at its best. Nashville Indiana is such a neat little town with all the specialty shops and the bar/restaurants. I always enjoy my time there. My pictures we actually from a couple if years ago but the time line only is for 2024 on the reviews page.

If you haven't been here yet, you should definitely go. This part of the state is so different from what you see from Indy and the north. The rolling hillsides, ample forests and abundant wildlife make a trip to BCSP a must for anyone who appreciates natural beauty.

Great hiking trails, beautiful scenery and the park is very clean and well maintained. This is one of the nicest state parks we have come across. We were very impressed with the facilities available for visitors. A great place for families to enjoy time together.

Make sure if you have a camper/motorhome, you enter through the West Gate on Highway 46, south of the town of Nashville. The roads are still rough and very narrow so take your time. From the Gatehouse, the Buffalo Ridge Campground that we stayed in was a 3 mile drive. We stayed in site #14 and we were completely secluded from everyone! Best site in the park! It was unlevel so we had to use boards on one side and extra boards under our levelers so make sure to bring extra boards! The inside campsites were all in the wide open. We camped in a 26 ft. trailer and our kids are 11, 13, and 16.
There was a cute campstore near our campsite that we walked to. The Bathhouse had a separate door for the showers. There was a separate area with a bench to put your stuff on. Some showers were hot, some were cold - you couldn't regulate the temperature. Some water pressure was strong and some not. There were windows in the shower room that made us uncomfortable so we made sure the windows were closed.
Hiking - we walked from the Buffalo Ridge campground, past the camp store and to the parking lot where Trail 5 started. We went down steep hills and stairs - about .75 miles. Then we went to the right and took Trail 7 around Ogle Lake. It was an easy trail, but we went slow because we were seeing frogs, snakes, turtles, beavers, fish and snails. When you get back around the whole lake, do not take the boardwalk across the swampy area - instead turn right, right before the boardwalk and go up a big hill. You will now be on Trail 4 to return you to the parking lot. There is no sign. It took us 2 hours and 15 min. since we stopped a lot to look at animals. There was a boat launch area but we felt we saw enough of the lake and chose not to go kayaking on it. There was a picnic shelter with a bathroom at the far side side of the lake by the dam.
We also took trail 6 from the Nature Center around Strahl Lake. The trail went straight down and had a bunch of steps to go down. There was a tree blocking the top area of the stairs so we had to walk through the weeds to get around it and climb up onto the stairs. The trail was not maintained - the weeds were wet and crossing over the path so our legs got soaked. THe whole trail was covered with big tree roots so watch your step! We walked right next the lake the whole time - it was a really small lake - I would call it a pond. It took us 1 1/2 hours since we stopped so much to look at animals (turtles, fish, bugs, etc.)
We were rained out so we went to the Nature Center. This was so amazing! They had great displays about animals, trees, plants, etc. They had exhibits with live turtles, snakes and bees. My kids really loved the bird watching area! We stayed here about an hour!
After that we went to the Abe Martin Lodge and paid $15 per person to swim/play in the waterpark. My kids (ages 11, 13, 16) played on the 1 waterslide, tiny lazy river, and small pool area for about an hour and they were bored. The hot tub didn't allow kids in it. I was very disappointed in the price that we paid - very boring for older kids.
We went to the Westgate Lookout tower. The trees were all overgrown so you couldn't see much, but it was a pretty view.
We biked on Trail G - took us 25 minutes. It was very hard - full of boulders and big tree roots. Once we got to the fire tower, we got off the trail - luckily that was the end of Trail G - bad signage. We climbed to the top of the fire tower - you can't go to the very top - it was locked. Pretty sight of the State Park from up there. We then biked the road back to the campground.
If it didn't rain so much, we probably would have spent more time hiking and biking. The playground at the campground was small and boring. The staff were all very nice. I don't think we will return - we saw and did everything we had wanted to do.
Oh yeah - went drove into the town of Nashville and walked around. There are tons of nice shops with overpriced craft and artisan items. I was told that the Nut Store is good but we didn't buy anything.

We love Brown County State Park. It has so much to offer to visitors that no other park locally can compare. Hiking, fishing, biking, scenic views, swimming, horse back riding, nature center, on and on! It really maintained better than other Indiana State Parks. (so it appears). Camp ground can get very crowded. We tend to like to go when it is hopefully less crowded.
anyway - be it a picnicking trip, a day hike, or a camping trip there is so much to offer. and if you get bored or if the weather doesn't cooperate, Nashville is a short drive away! :)

The Brown County State Park is incredible, walking trails, fishing, bird watching are just a few activities.
A photographer’s dream with hilly views, and trees of all types make a stroll that much prettier.
Many ground animals make their home here so be prepared to watch animals scurry about.
A pleasurable drive through the park with many opportunities to park and walk around to enjoy nature.
There is a fee $7.00 residents of Indiana, non residents pay $9.00. Definitely worth the money.

Nice, easy to navigate trails. Peaceful walk through nature. In the quiet you could hear many different birds and wildlife. The morning mist mimics the smoky mountains.

We recently visited the park with family. The views are amazing and the trails were really nice.
We will definitely be back.

Loved the trails and the beautiful views Its like being in the Smoky mountains but closer to home Didnt get to see al of the park but will be back in the spring

Whether you like to hike, bike, camp, swim or ride horses you can find something to do in Brown County State Park. The Little Gem restaurant is also a great place for lunch or dinner and the buffet always has a nice variety. If you stay in the Lodge or one of the cabins you also can use the indoor water park which is a favorite with our grandchildren.

Amazing park. Rented the pavilion and it was a perfect venue for our event! Several of our group stayed in the park. I have always loved Brown County and she never disappoints!

It was our first time to Brown County State Park. What a wonderful park! Lots of hiking trails at different levels. The park is very well maintained. There is an interesting Nature Center with a wonderful viewing room to watch bird feeders. Lots of gold finches and hummingbirds at the feeders. Trails were sparsely populated, and other hikers were polite and friendly. There were fish and turtles in the lake easily viewed from the shore. I was surprised and relieved that there were few bugs too - not one mosquito bite!

Stunning view, paved entirely. Plenty of trails and exploring to be had. The lodge is excellent to visit and relax for a few days. Can't wait to.go camping here.

Fun! Great trail and water park! Only stayed two notes who’s it was longer. We stayed in Rustic Cabins! Beautiful this tim of year!! Hope to go back

We went for breakfast and they had a wonderful breakfast buffet, more selection that at any other restaurant in the area the sevice was good,

We spent 3 night camping at Brown County State Park. The nature part of the park was beautiful. However, the campground bathrooms were old and in need of some updating. The campground was dirty with trash and many expired post tickets still hanging on the posts. The nature center had a lot of good information, but there too it was old and tired looking. On a positive note, we enjoyed riding our bikes along the scenic drive and then out to the covered bridge entry. There are many steep hills both up and down making for a fun, challenging ride.

Although we went in the winter, this park is gorgeous any time of the year. The hills and cliffs are spectacular. Next trip, I will have to allow more time to investigate and enjoy.

We’ve been long time visitors to the Indiana state parks and BC has always been a favorite! There are a variety of trails, from easy to fairly challenging and rugged (we prefer trail 9 with the added loop), so there is a little something for everyone. The fall views are legendary for good reason, but the park is worthy of a visit any time throughout the year.

Rented one of the duplex cabins. The setting is beautiful in the woods.
These cabin are only a few years old, clean, nicely furnished.
The beds could be a tad firmer for me but I guess that's a personal choice.
They have fire pits for each cabin and free firewood. Who doesn't like a campfire.
The water park in included in the room price.

We decided to camp on a whim in southern Indiana in April because it was too cold in Michigan. We were wonderfully surprised by the spacious, clean campgrounds which we literally had to ourselves during the weekdays. The staff is super friendly. It was a wonderful week and we will be back next spring!

We spent 2 nights/3 days camping in the state park and it was stunning! There are lookouts almost everywhere and each one is more breathtaking than the last. BRING YOUR TICK REPELLENT. They are definitely in the park and once they find you, they won’t leave. All of the staff members we met were so nice. We can’t wait to visit again in the fall!! The Strahl lake trail was beautiful and it only took us about an hour to get all the way around it. Also, the lookout buildings are a great area to relax for a second and enjoy the view!

We went to Brown County State Park on our vacation and loved the parks natural surroundings and opportunities for recreation. One of the things we did with the kids was take them to the saddle barn for a pony ride. This turned out to be a great time that created a lot of great pictures and memories. We also visited Abe Martin Lodge and the lobby and gift shop there were top notch!

We try to camp at Brown County State Park at least once a year. The fall is the best time while the leaves are changing though it is also the most crowded. The campground is huge yet well maintained and the facilities are decent. The views from several places in the park are amazing.

We had a wonderful family outing today. We stopped at the outlook tower and climbed up it. Surprised the family wanted to go to the top. Then we hiked trail #6. We thought we would go to the nature center that diverged from the trail. After a while the kiddos were getting tired so we headed back to the main trail and completed the lap around Stahl Lake. Beautiful drive through the park. Excited to come back again and see more.

The park is absolutely beautiful with quiet scenic drives and lots of hiking trails. It was amazing to see the history of this park plus it’s an extra perk you can get in all day with your pass! Lots to explore we will definitely be back!

We really enjoyed hiking in the park on Easter Sunday with my wife, grandkids, and family. Took Trail 6 around Strawl Lake and up 170 steps staircase to the Nature Center. Even though the climb is a little taxing the panoramic view at the top was worth it.

Really pretty park that reminds of the smokies in Tennessee. We are going back to see the fall foliage it should be amazing.

Spent a very enjoyable day hiking. The weather was crisp and clear, the trails were well-marked, and the DNR personable and knowledgeable. The birds were plentiful and happy with the Spring-like day.
There weren’t many visitors at the park until after lunchtime.

I love Brown County State Park. We visit as often as we we can and during all Seasons. Each Season has its own special beauty. If you visit during the Fall be sure to come on a weekday. Weekends are very crowded. The trails are great ! There is one for every activity level. What a great place to take pictures!! the park is one of the most visited parks in the country. You will not be soory!

Beautiful park and worth a visit! I would recommend staying at the lodge which is very cute and near the pool.

Ever wanted to get away and leave your worries behind, even for a little while. Brown County State Park is the perfect place for that. At the Park you can walk the trails through the woods and enjoy the beauty of Indiana. You can ride bikes for a little exercise. You can also go for a riding horseback to enhanse your afternoon. If you like picnics, there any plenty of places to relax and haave lunch. If you're looking at a longer stay, check out the Park's cabins on check in to the Lodge. No matter how you're wanting to get away, Brown County State Park is the perfect place to do it.

We've visited the park several times in the past during different times of the year and always enjoyed it but this was our first visit in the fall. Loved seeing all the beautiful fall colors!!

Whether you're looking for a place to hike or just want to drive around, the Brown County state Park is lovely. Worth a visit.

Brown County State Park is the place to be in mid to late October. The Color is amazing. The vistas are nothing short of spectacular. The Abe Martin Lodge is a great place to shop, eat or stay. If you like to hike this is the place with trails for all skill levels.

This park is one of the great assets in Indiana. A beautiful park with great hiking trails (for many levels of fitness), water activities and just nice scenery. The park is one of premiere fall destinations to watch the change in foliage--very busy, so the roads are crowded. A place that can be visited at any time of year--and close to the artsy town of Nashville.

Spent the afternoon wandering around. Nice and relaxing after it stopped drizzling on us. Fond memories of childhood and my children's childhood visits. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

The park is nice. It has trails to hike for all fitness levels. The friends trail and discovery trails were perfect for smaller children. The other trails
Are better for 7 plus. We also enjoyed the “vista” points. If we do it again, I will bring a picnic lunch for the family and eat at one of the spots. We got some great family pictures. The roads are so nice and smooth. Don’t stay at the lodge!!!’ Terrible cabins; though some look Like they are renovating. Also visit during the week! The weekends are so crowded. People waited up to 3 hrs to enter the park.

Indiana has an excellent State Park System and Brown County State Park is an excellent example. Wonderful Abe Martin Lodge too.

Camping mid week in this beautiful State Park in Indiana. Very few campers in Racoon Hollow, non electric area of the campground. Our campsite is private and wooded near a water source and pit toilets. The toilets had lots of flies but the shower house has flush toilets and plenty of showers. The Nature Center is very nice. Trails for hiking and horseback riding. I would certainly come back here!

This park has some of the friendliest, helpful rangers. We camped 4 night at Buffalo Ridge csmpsite. Facilities were extremely clean! Views were tremedous! Wooded and semi wooded sites. Nature Center was fun for all ages! One of the best we've visited. Town of Nashville has quaint shops and restauranrs. We'll definitely be back!

Waking up in Cincinnati, we decided to make a day trip to Brown County State Park and the surrounding area. Many of my friends had talked about making weekend trips to the area, so we thought “Why not?” for our spontaneous day trip and it did not disappoint! Beautiful views and a dog days scavenger hunt (annually in early February) provided an extra burst fun during our hiking adventure. I’d recommend this park to anyone for a day-trip or weekend getaway!

My mom and I took a day trip here with our dogs. The park is very scenic, especially at the overlook spots. We hiked on the discovery and friendship trails. The friendship trail is short and paved which was nice. The discovery trail was more rugged but very pretty. We stopped in the park office prior to going on the trail and got a brochure with information that matched up with each station on the discovery trail. This was neat to read through as we hiked along! We packed a picnic lunch and ate it at a picnic spot near a small cabin. The park is pretty big and we look forward to going back in the fall when the leaves change!

Beautiful, scenic place with tons of trails for many different types of visitors. We didn't get to stay long, our next visit we will definitely make the day out of it.

We spent three days at Brown County State Park beginning October 21, 2019. Our campsite was really good. We stayed in the Buffalo Ridge Section. The shower house is heated in the section. The campground was very well kept and the shower house was stocked/cleaned daily. The Nature Center at the park was really nice. We went into Nashville, Indiana to shop and to eat. We ate at The Hobnob Corner, food was excellent, service was good. One day we went into Columbus, Indiana to the Atterbury-Bakalar Air Museum (admission is "free"). The retired military men there presented real interesting facts about the museum. The color in the foliage was coming in just as we had to depart. We look forward to another trip to Brown County State Park.

We have heard so much about Brown County State Park, but had never made the trip down to visit. I am so glad we did. Next time we will spend more time preparing for our visit and making plans to even stay a night at the lodge. What a beautiful park with great walking trails for all to enjoy.

Well marked. Well maintained. Gorgeous. Very enjoyable drive. Nature Center interesting and has bathrooms. One of the best parks we've been in. Lodge is nice and food is good there. Senior discount if you need a park pass.

Brown County State Park is one of the most beautiful parks in Indiana. The park accommodates horses with campgrounds for their riders, wonderful walking trails through dense woods, and lovely accommodations, both rustic cabins, and lodge rooms. This is my favorite state park in Indiana. It's close proximity to the lovely, tourist town of Nashville, IN is an added attraction.

This state park is very well maintained, beautiful views, quiet campground and an all around family place. There is a huge pool, a country store, a lodge, stables and horse barns.
This is our go to place for a weekend away.
The only complaint I have is the aged shower house. Lots of lime/ calcium buildup which hinders water pressure in the shower
RV sites have electricity hookups, there are several potable water sites.

Brown county state park is a great place to go for camping or having a picnic. Lots of great views. It also has a fire tower to climb if you have the energy!! There are several campgrounds and 2 lakes. Many hiking and bike trails. Or if you just want to go for a drive through the hills. Give it a try!!

Beautiful scenery, but some trails were a bit boring in comparison to Turkey Run. There are some great camp sights though so I gave it the extra boost. If there is a better overall state park in Indiana, please let me know because with all this has to offer it has to be the #1 .

We had a wonderful day at the park with our two young girls. Started out with a program in the Nature Center, had lunch at the lodge and then took a nice hike. Girls enjoyed it all! Can't wait to come back.

We had wedding celebration at one of the shelter houses here. We stayed in one of the family cabins. It was very roomy and clean. It was a great place to stay.

This state park is a haven for nature lovers. One of the largest in the U.S., it spans nearly 16,000 acres of wooded hills, ridges, and misty ravines. With spectacular views and abundant wildlife, it's perfect for photography, hiking, and scenic drives. Activities include trails for all skill levels, horseback riding, a nature center, a lookout tower, a summer swimming pool, and a well-stocked camp store. Campsites are plentiful, clean, and conveniently located near water faucets and restrooms. Each site features a picnic table, and there are many scenic picnic spots throughout the park. Whether you're with family, friends, or on a solo retreat, it's a peaceful escape and an outdoor enthusiast’s dream.

Hiking was awesome but beware we went as a group of 9 and 2 ended up finding ticks on their body. Parking at some locations on the week end can be a challenge. Speed limit in park is 30 mph and roads are hilly and traffic is heavy. There is a $9.00 vehicle entry fee for non-resident visitors which is not worth it just to hike.

This park is great for a day hiking or a week long camping trip. There are great camping facilities, as well as quite a few hiking trails in varying degrees of difficulty. I was there in the hot humid summer, I'd love to return in other seasons.

We had such a great time! My girls all went on a hike while I got to have some peaceful time by the lake. we are excited to do it again soon

My family visits this park several times a year. I have watched my kids grow up there in pictures. Park is mainly well maintained. Many trails to hike and things to see. A joy to visit ever time i go.

Park was beautiful and very well maintained. Wish I would of visited little later in month to see leaves change but overall beautiful park . Lots of nice hiking trails for all levels of experience.

This is my new go-to place. So beautiful. So serene. Everything was clean. We found many places with scenic view pull-offs and many places to picnic and grill. We enjoyed the horseback riding and took advantage of an outdoor meal.

This is a great family park. The hotel is great and has a wonderful indoor water park. They have horseback riding and hiking trails. There is an outdoor pool as well. Lots of shelter houses for group gatherings.

One of Indiana's best state parks. Hiking trails take you through beautiful woods. So peaceful. Well worth the visit. Nashville, IN is nearby with shopping and restaurants.

Visiting early gets you a more private time to hike or even find parking - in a few weeks - peak color - it becomes a real traffic jam on nice days

We have camped in Brown County STate Park numerous times. For many years with a tent and now a small travel trailer. The campground is beautiful regardless of the season, although we do have a preference for late spring and early fall. Make reservations as much in advance as you can, especially for summer visits. Enjoy!

The drive through the park is worth the extra time it may add to your travels. It is $7 per vehicle and is worth every penny.

Love the park and love the restaurant inside the park. It's definitely a highlight of Nashville Indiana.

The trails that feature overlooks are worth taking. Most of the other trails are not particularly scenic. Like much of Indiana this area has been harshly cut. The trees are not good quality forest canopy in portions of the park. One of the overlook shelters was built by the CCC. The shelter has been revitalized and is well worth seeing.

Drove around and decided to take a hike...trail 8 was pretty, challenging in places, but worth the effort. Whether driving through or taking a hike, it’s a pretty place!

We recently hiked for the first time in Brown State Park. The area is beautiful and comparable to some of the most beautiful areas that we have hiked previously like the Smoky Mountains in TN and Porcupine Mountains in MI. The trails are well-maintained and well-marked and pet-friendly. We had a pleasant hike to Ogle Lake and back again. This is definitely a park that we will return to when in this area in the future.

We visited this park on a Monday morning when almost no one else was around. It was enjoyable enough - the west point lookout is quite a view. We did pay $7 for in state visitors.
The reason I don't give it five stars is that many of the trails were narrow such that my wife and I could not walk side by side and also the trails were not marked consistently enough, leaving my wife and to wonder whether we were still approaching our target or whether we had gotten lost.
Overall very good.

We stayed in a wonderful cabin that included rocking chairs in the porch , fire ring and even wood!
The park is beautiful with lots of well marked paths, a nature center and aqua park

We had a nice, easy hike around Strahl Lake! Great fall day with fall colors, an easy drive through the park, lots of overlooks. Great wildlife viewing; we saw a giraffe and a fox on Halloween ; ) Bonus: the cleanest bathrooms I’ve ever used in a park!

We had a good time at our Pet-friendly cabin. Our dogs took advantage of the many trails. The cabin was a little iffy. 36 inch wide shower stall, 28 inch wide shower curtain. Precariously placed toilet paper roll, need to be a contortionist to reach it. Really small coffee pot. We made due and hiked some. Arrived a little early before the leaves changed color though. All in all, would go back. But avoid the buffet at the lodge. It's unedible.

My husband, son, and I visited the Brown County State Park and stayed in the Abe Martin Lodge and loved it! We drove around the park which was so beautiful! We took our son to ride a horse which was only $3! Amazing! We also went to the campground to check it out and took our son to a playground there that was super nice as well. All around beautiful park! I would recommend all to come see at least once!

Huge State Park with Plenty of scenic views along the way. Nature center was ok, parts of the park were being repaved so we stayed awy from the lodge area.

I'm glad we made the trip and I'd love to go back. The views are incredible. The pool was nice but plain, has 2 diving boards. We paid for the horse guided tour on a trail. Which was a neat experience. All our interactions with the staff were friendly. However, the bathrooms are not very nice or clean. The campsites were not mowed. We did run into a copperhead snake on our covered firewood. DNR removed from the site. Lots of chipmunks and birds.

this is a huge park and great to go with a big group of people. the camping is great. horse back riding. lots of hiking. its pretty

Driving through the state park was great, peaceful and gorgeous. The surrounding area is just as great. The people are friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed our time there and will go back.

Been coming here since I was a kid for over 50 years. Beautiful vistas, great places for picnics. Love this place.

Brown County State Park is an outdoor paradise,!There are lots of winding roads with amazing over looks, it's like mountains and vistas when you stop or pass by.The park offers hiking, bike trails for mountain bikes Horse back riding trail, swimming pool and a aquatic center at the Abe Martin Lodge. This area has cabin rentals of various types. Avery large camping area, a nature center,A covered Bridge at the North entrance. There is camping just for horses and trailers many trails just for them. There is so much to do here, what a wonderful place to Relax and enjoy a step back in time.

The park is really nice. Easy to get to and slll kinds of things to see and do. We went horseback riding through some trails and had a great time. My wife is a really good rider and I am alright just not risen enough to know all the trunks. The horses are great and the the people are super nice. Very relaxing and fun. We saw deer and squirrels. All kinds of birds. The leaves are starting to change but will be really pretty in a couple weeks. Try it out.

It's a fun place to spend a weekend. They have lots of well maintained trails all over the place. The camping sites are great. Very clean. The lodge is another story. Just go to Nashville to eat and skip the lodge. We had a great time around ogle lake and the playground was well maintained.

Beautiful park! This was our third visit. Lots of trails that range in difficulty from paved (easy) to moderate with some hefty inclines! We love the views and the historic CCC shelters smattered throughout the park. With the variety of trails it’s a great park for all ages and skill levels. It’s also a beautiful park no matter the season.

Short drive from Indy, worth the time plan on spending a couple of days to fully enjoy all the park has to offer

We have used this park several times as an overnight stop during long distant trips. This time we enjoyed a 4 day stay the week before Labor Day. The Park was virtually empty with most campers being the large rig seasonal type. Our site was nice and of course very quiet with the lack of campers.Several sites we viewed were small or quite un-level. The Shower/Restrooms were very clean and almost exclusively ours. Showers worked well but water was too warm, especially during hot muggy summer nights. Most of the Park provides Pit Toilets which we did not use, since our site was near enough to the shower house. They were however currently building brand new pit toilets with handicap accessible approaches. The sheer size of the park included a 12-15 minute drive from our site to the Park entrance. Trails, playgrounds, and public activity areas were abundant. The camp store was staffed by very pleasant people and was stocked with just about anything a camper may have lost broken or forgotten. The katydids dominate the evening sounds. Being from Wisconsin we are used to crickets, maybe frogs and toads, with occasional owls, coyotes, or norther lake Loons. We only saw one rabbit, one squirrel, a bird or two and some bugs. Lack of wildlife was a bit strange. Although we do not camp with bikes or horses, this Park is very popular with mountain bikers and has an equestrienne camp area.

Brown County State Park is an annual fall visit for us; however, in 2018 we may be traveling to Santa Fe.
Brown County State Park often is referred to as the “Little Smokies,” and a mid-week visit will find far fewer people than in Sevier County TN.
”Brown County State Park is not yet at peak, but there is good fall color.
We highly recommend.

Beautiful, peaceful & serene. There are cabins for rent but I understand you should book one to two years ahead as it sells out soon. The views are phenomenal. There is quite a bit to do, including sports like tennis courts, pool, restaurant and plain old walking. Highly recommend to get this on your bucket list. Shopping in downtown Nashville is awesome.

We enjoy hiking and have been to many state parks along the way. Brown County stands out as one of the best! If you're looking for an easy and kid-friendly hike, #7 at Ogle Lake is a great choice. We combined that with #8 to make a longer hike and enjoyed it very much. There are also long trail systems available for horseback riders and mountain bikers. Abe Martin Lodge is a lovely place to stay if you want to immerse yourself in the park. The lodge also has a dining room if you just want a meal while you're in the park. The nature center and the pool are both worth checking out too. Indiana residents should be proud to have this gem in their state park system.

This park really does have something for everyone. Trails, camping, biking, and a fantastic inn/restaurant. A large park with many scenic views especially nice in the fall. And to top it off you’re near Nashville with lots of artisans, restaurants, winery’s and more. Located near the center of the state, every Indiana resident should visit this park.

The fall colors are in full view. We spent an entire day inside the park and even rented an ATV to trail ride later in the day. This park is beautifully maintained. The roads are freshly asphalted. The trails are well marked.

From the minute you stop at the gate you are greeted with a warm smile and friendly conversation on how your day is. The campsites are are pretty level. The store is well stocked and friendly staff. Clean restrooms and taken care of to keep well supplied. We will visit again. The nature building was fantastic.

My husband and I visited friends who moved to this area, and really enjoyed this park. Can't wait to go back and enjoy all this place has to offer. It is huge - over 15,000 acres of land. The lodge is rustic and quaint. We drove through the park. Would like to enjoy horseback riding here. Beautiful views and trails.
We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet bar at the lodge - great food and service.

We visited Brown County State Park when we visited Southern Indiana. The park is beautiful. The Park Ranger was pleasant and very informative. The Abe Martin Lodge is amazing. We hiked trail #2 (about 2 miles). Much of this trail was created during the depression by the conservation Corps. The stonework could use some maintenance, but is beautiful nonetheless. The hike is a good workout though the hills of Brown County. Don't miss the views from the Fire Towers.

We really enjoyed the bird observation window. So many feeders and various birds. The waterfall / birdbath made for a very relaxing area.

This is such a pretty place. We camped there for 4 nights and loved every minute. The campground was so quite. There is a lot to do and see.

We just got back from our first visit to Brown County State Park, and will definitely be back! We arrived on Sunday, and were told our room at Abe Martin Lodge would not be available due to some maintenance issue... a little concerned at first, but Chris stepped in and handled it seamlessly. Chris and Erika provided us some options, and as a result, we were very pleased with our accommodations. We subsequently had a wonderful stay, and thoroughly enjoyed the park (specifically the hiking trails, beautiful!). The park is very well maintained (no easy task, as it's over 15,000 acres!!), the staff are all very friendly and helpful (Mary Ann in the dining area, & Jo at checkout... not to mention the maintenance and room staff) This park is top notch, as there's a little something for everyone... and it's close to town! We were amazed at how well run this park is, and are so grateful for the hard work and dedication of the staff... Thank you so much, and look forward to seeing you again soon! Jim & Carol - Battle Creek, MI

Spent a few hours exploring this magnificent park just outside of Nashville, IN. The scenic drive from the East gate to the West gate was a breath of fresh air for the both of us and offered some great photo opportunities.

A ride through Brown County may mean a visit to the little shops in Nashville but for us, it is worth the ride to drive through Brown County State Park. The forest is refreshing with many area to stop and view the beautiful scenery. Take a picnic, there are plenty of picnic tables. If you are lucky you will see people casually riding their horses on the beautiful trails. Take a ride and enjoy the peace and quiet!

It had been many years since the last time I was in Brown County. From my childhood, I remembered how gorgeous it was, but coming back reminded me just how fantastic this stretch of Southern Indiana truly is.
I'm from Northern Indiana, and I find the cornfields to be pretty in their own way. But if anyone tells you that Indiana is only cornfields or that it's a "fly-over" state, just tell them to go to Brown County State Park. One drive through this gem, and anyone will know why Indiana is an easy state to fall in love with.
Every corner offers stunning views. The main road winds up into the hills, and there are so many fun places to explore. Take an hour or two and just roam. You won't regret it.

Even in late fall, the Brown County State Park is a pleasant place to enjoy Nature. The views are awesome even after the leaves have fallen and/or turned brown. Our Friday, Dec. 1st afternoon there was a pleasant weather experience, hitting the high 50's. Great Sweatshirt weather.. Enjoyed walking some paths and just being one in nature. Will most definitely return when possible.

Always a great trip - any time of year - rented the family cabin - which has the full kitchen and wood stove. Could access trail two from the back of our cabin. Was spring break so the pool was busy busy lots of fun. Food at the inn was terrific. Hiked several trails - completed the seven vista challenge too. See ya in the fall!

We really enjoyed exploring this wonderful state park. From driving through the covered bridge, to the nature center, to the wonderful trails and lakes throughout!

There is nothing like Brown County State Park for the feel of the seasons. Indiana has the most beautiful trees to see during the year. Crunching on leaves as you hike the trails, horseback riding or spending the night in the area brings beautiful memories through the years I've lived in Indiana. Growing up in Texas, I never got to experience the seasons as I have here. Add a dusting of snow or a harvest moon and you have the true makings of all you need. Explore.

December 28th and 62 degrees in Indiana. we hiked several trails. The Ogle lake trail 7 is 1.3 miles from from parking lot to parking lot. Great trail to see nature. Kids like it. (Small stream feeds lake ), that kids can explore. More trails that are more strenuous. They do have horse trails. Great place to explore nature.

The park has many good hiking trails, none of which are very changing. The view is rocks and trees, unless you're hiking around one of the small lakes. There are a few lookouts and the scenery is nice when the leaves change. Otherwise, it's just more trees.

this is a nice big state park good for a day or two of sight seeing or even an overnight at the lodge. I was surprised at how big this place was when we drove through the park in april of 2019. We were staying elsewhere so only did a half day drive through of the park and visited the lodge and the lookouts, had time to climb up the tall observation platform, and do a pick nick lunch .
I think this place would be fantastic to see during fall season. I hope they will have finished fixing the covered bridge by then when we plan to re-visit.
the park entrance fee was $7.00 for one day. i do wish they would have other options open for say 3 days . or at least allow you to come back the next day .

My husband and I went to visit my brother and his family at the campgrounds. We hadn’t been to the park in years. It is very well maintained. The views from the overlooks remind me of The Smokey’s in Tennessee. There’s a fire tower to climb. The campground was great. The sites are big and roomy. We had a great visit and plan to go back soon for some hiking.

Paid $9.00 for out of state entrance fee, drove one of many roads, took us high to viewing spots to see for miles, would come back for fall colors.

They have designed walking paths around several of the lakes. I'm not an avid hiker, but i find it pretty easy to walk around Strahl Lake. It's a peaceful way to see the forest and watch the birds, and, it takes well under an hour to make the whole trip. Seeing the lake from different vantage points is really interesting, too. We have enjoyed being near the lakes when we visit Brown County State Park.

We hiked Trails 4-7-5. Our advice is to start at the Rally Campground parking lot and hike Trail 5 first. Grab an interpretative guide at the trailhead. It's downhill and slippery when wet. Take the out-and-back loop, then proceed to Trail 4 to connect to Trail 7 which circles Ogle Lake, connect to the other part of Trail 4 and proceed back to the Rally Campground via a nice uphill trail. It took us about 2+ hours to do ~3 1/2 miles.
Note: Trail 5 involves some scrambling over deadfall logs, some recent and some not. Some of the boardwalks were missing boards. There were several abandoned picnic tables along the Ogle Lake shoreline -- some in the water. Just a general sense of lack of funding.
Invasives: Pretty good overall. Some multi-flora rose in the woods.

Coming to Brown County in September and October is aleays a challenge without breaking the bank. However, the Abe Martin Lodge in Brown County State park is State owned and provides excellent overnight accomodations at reasonable rates. Book early as they go fast!!!
The trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding rate as one of the best.

We had stayed in one of the Rustic Cabins many years ago with no problems. This time was a totally different experience. First thing we noticed were mouse droppings on the bed near the pillows on both of the beds. Later we found droppings on the light stand, the microwave table, the other table. After walking barefoot on the carpet we found mouse feces were sticking to the soles of our feet! The next morning we noticed old coffee in the coffee maker with, you guessed it, more mouse droppings! The ceiling had many cobwebs. It was plain that the place is rarely cleaned. We reported all this when we checked out. The desk clerk was polite and agreed to pass our complaints on to the manager along with our contact information. It's been a week but have no heard anything from the park. The park itself is great but we do not recommend staying in the Rustic Cabins.

We spent 4 nights trailer camping and were very pleasantly surprised. Some portions of the campground have nicely dispersed sites that only have electrical hookups but are very natural and peaceful. There's an excellent nature center, a small country store, and a beautiful hotel on site. We didn't try the pool or the horseback riding. There are lots of trails. We went on several bike rides. Some were pretty hilly but quite nice. School starts in this part of Indiana around August 8 and the campground emptied out by the 7th. I assume it's probably full again for labor day. This is really quite a nice park and a wonderful surprise.

Beautiful park with a great scenic drive with overlooks. We also hiked around one of the lakes and visited the nature center. It is all very nice. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because they charge $9 a vehicle for entrance. Make sure to bring exact change because he wouldn't take a $20. Thank goodness I happened to have it. Also, we just aren't used to being charged to drive through a park.

Hiked Trail 6 . Be ready to walk up and down 176 steps. It is a good trail that takes you down to Strahl Lake.

New campers to Brown County State Park should know there are three ridges in the park: Buffalo Ridge is very open, very sunny, and the sites are on what I consider "manicured lawns." I know some people really like nice grass though, especially if they have an RV. Buffalo Ridge is tent and RV, and has electric. It's also a small ridge, so it's harder to lose your kids or get lost in general. It's the closest ridge to the nice bathhouses and the store. The only wooded site in Buffalo Ridge (which we chose), is site 094. I highly recommend this site. It's shaded, woody, and private. The only issue is that people come off trail 9 onto your site. They are lost and on an unmarked trail, but they don't know that. Site 094 is also right across from the vault toilets. The other two ridges are Raccoon Ridge and Taylor Ridge. Raccoon Ridge appeared to be only tents, and no electric. Taylor Ridge is what I would consider a traditional campground- electric, RV and tent, and heavily wooded. There are vault toilets and playgrounds scattered throughout the entire campground, which is nice. Almost all the sites on all three ridges are very close together. Once you've been once you'll know which are the more private sites, but there aren't many.
The rest of Brown County State Park is top-notch. Great views, a nature center, a fire lookout tower you can climb, activities every day of the week, great staff, a lake you can kayak, well stocked camp store, tons of hiking trails at various difficulty levels and distances, and a huge swimming pool ($3 a person to get in). Campers should know the pool is about 4 miles away from the campground, down a beautifully paved road. Several people in our group loved the mountain bike trails. There's also a horseman park, but we didn't go there so I can't review it. Ask at the nature center about earning your state park pin if you have kids. The entire state park and campground is five minutes from an IGA, a CVS, and historic downtown Nashville, which was super cute and provided something more to do besides camp.

We enjoyed the amazing views with all the calmness of nature. Great for hiking and taken in the unplugged environment around you.

The walking trails at BCSP were nice. Easy signage and all in good condition. Would recommend both loops around the lakes.

Absolutely horrible. This once outstanding experience is now a rotten dumpster-fire.
We've been bringing our youngest kids here for the last couple of years. In all of our prior experiences, these have been parent-led pony rides around a fairly long loop, paying a price of $2 per lap. It was always a nice end to a day of hiking.
OH HOW THINGS HAVE CHANGED!
Firstly, the prices are now $6 per lap. So, a meager 300% price hike. That's cool! Secondly, the pony rides are now "guided" (and lets use the term "guided" as LOOSELY as possible). Because the rides are now "guided" by only one person we had to wait over an hour in line to ride our ponies - something that was not disclosed when we paid. Did we mention there are no refunds?
Our guide was a minor, who was not pleased at all to be there. His enthusiasm was roughly on par with someone who was about to serve two life sentences at a maximum security prison in the middle of the desert with no air conditioning, while being forced to watch the View on repeat all day. He explained to us in vivid detail how much "This sucks" and how he "Hated the new rules". He also used words that I would not like my young child to hear. I asked that he please stop using such language and he muttered "I'm just trying to cool off before I really explode."
The pony would often go to take a break, and rather than regain control of the animal the proper way, he would punch the pony in the neck a few times while barking orders at it. Not only is this clearly animal abuse, it was also terrifying to our young girls. Again, I asked him to stop to which he replied, "These animals aren't even trained right." (Insert additional verbal and physical abuse to the pony here.) At this point, I asked to take control of the pony's reigns to which he replied, " No, I'll get in trouble and I'll never hear the end of it." I told him he should definitely take a break when we were done riding this pony, and thankfully he agreed.
Our girls looked as uncomfortable as could be. On the last lap of the ride (We paid for two laps each, unaware at the time of purchase of the new, awful changes), he hit the pony so hard it walked into the fence and scraped our daughter's leg. It was at that point we hit the eject button and left. No apologies were given, and we couldn't even find someone in charge to give a recount of our experience. The best we could do was warn the line of parents and children there to wait until either someone else was there to "guide" them or just leave entirely.
It is an absolute shame that this once fun, family experience has been absolutely gutted. Even on the way home, both girls agreed (unprompted, by the way) they didn't want to go back to ride the ponies. We don't know if new ownership took over or not. But whoever is in charge should be aware of just how bad this experience is now. If this new style of operation continues, eventually some poor child is going to get seriously injured.
Avoid at all costs.

We have been here to camp at least 6 times over the last few years. Great employees. They clean the comfort stations daily. Now if only the patrons would be better stewards. Most are but there are always a few bad eggs.
Love the park. We will always come back!

this is a beautiful park. lots of things to see and do. wish i had more time to explore this place. would like to see it in the fall.

Brown County State Park is not for the faint of heart. Almost all the trails have significant hills to climb (a few exceptions). To my surprise many biking trails had been added. All the trails we hiked were in good shape - maintenance was working on them too at the time we visited. We will return probably in the fall.

Nice, clean park. Nice restrooms at the lodge. Hiking trail was difficult to follow, but we still had fun.

We went on a nice sunny day bout 60 degrees. We took our two kids 7 and 4 boys. We went to a more secret path and had a wonderful time. We ended up doing about 6 miles all together. My only wish is there was better labels on the trail because we ended up going down the wrong one which was okay we still had fun!
Beautiful place to take yourself friends or family.
Careful some of the places you cannot camp and you have to watch that you dont park on private property.

Church Retreat for 260 people using Abe Martin Lodge and cabins for 3 days and 2 nights. Good service with okay food and the park is great with Nashville close by. This is our third retreat at this location and have planned another one.

We had a family reunion there recently and it was perfect for our group. We had a building, restrooms nearby, convenient parking and plenty of tables. Everyone had a great time, and later went on a hayride, too.

This is definitely a must visit place in Brown County. Tons of hiking trails. The hike around Ogle Lake is beautiful.

The colors are at their peak right now until it rains. They were beautiful! The traffic was the worst I've seen. Would definitely recommend.

I hiked two of the many trails and both were very easy to follow and well marked. Trail heads had parking areas with bathrooms, which was great. I went on a weekday and only met very few people on the trails with me. Pick a trail and breathe the forest air; tune out man made sounds and listen to nature all around. By being quiet, I was able to watch two young deer just eating in the woods. Once they caught my human smell, their white tails rose and they jumped and ran. Cool sight- lots of birds, chipmunks and squirrels too.

I wanted my daughter to get a taste of Nashville IN and the wonderful Brown County State Park. We drove almost all the way to the other side of the park, staring at the incomparable views by the side of the road. The map they gave out on entry helped a lot, and since it was not crowded we got to go slow and soak up the gorgeous scenery. We drove down to the Abe Martin Lodge and around the pool and up and down and everywhere, stopping at a country store and camping grounds to check out the people who were nearly all starting up grills for dinner. Sometimes we stopped, got out, and just sat. It was so relaxing. Can't wait to go again. This is the place to be when the leaves change in the fall.

The park is the best of Indiana (and I've visited the Dunes many times). You can enjoy hikes from wheel-chair-accessible paths to horse-friendly to rugged trails. Camping plots are spacious and well laid out. Water is not bad at all, but I suggest bringing your own for drinking due to a slight metallic taste.
Most of the look-outs are splendid; there is plenty of room to park your car and take a look. Maps given to you at the gate are useful and clear. We had no troubles finding our way to the camp site.
Nearby Nashville has a quaint downtown strip of mom-and-pop shops. Delicious fudge, ice cream, popcorn, and more. Beautiful hand-made crafts.
**Bathrooms are miraculously clean! Never before have I seen such nice facilities....even the out-house was spotless.

Beautiful vistas across the hills of southern Indiana! The hills look as if they’re on fire as the trees shine with red, yellow and orange leaves!Far reaching vistas worthy(as they have been-TC Steele)of painting. Also visit nearby Nashville, charming and quaint!

Visited on a rainy Sunday morning. Too sloppy to hike so we visited the Nature Center which price to be very nice.
We drive around a bit and decided to climb one of the fire observation towers. Pretty cool. Nice vantage point to look around the park. Was limited visibility due to the misty, rainy morning. Probably can see many miles if it were a nice day.
Decided to leave and come back later in the day. Our entry fee was good for the whole day.
Since it stopped raining we went in a hike near the Lodge. Very quiet and away from everyone. Think it was trail 2. Not too sure about that. Had a little trouble locating the trail. Had to walk they the Lodge to get to it. Kinda strange.
Good park. Check it out.

Out of state visitors must pay $9. In state is slightly less. The park is huge and beautiful in the spring. Trail 9 is a great 7.4 mile lollipop loop hike in the spring with many wildflowers and blooming dogwoods on the way to a lake. For more info and pics, visit my TA trips page ETBtravelphotography for blog link: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Trips/87880785/Nashville%2C%20Indiana

Whether you want to bike, walk or horseback there is a trail for you. The area is beautiful with plenty of side spots to have a quiet picnic. Multiple trails around the water and park area. Be careful the parking can be a bit full in this area.

Brown County is a beautiful State Park- many overlooks and picnic areas, playgrounds and a great nature center that has several small reptile / snakes for young children to see.

Today was my first visit to this park. Wow!!! Definitely a lovely sight and my it’s enormous!!! So we did trail 8 which was 3.5 miles long labeled moderate. If that moderate I’m afraid to see expert LOL!! No seriously the person I was with did this trail just fine, for me it was very tough. When we finished I was so beat I was ready to go lol! We did make sure to see the double bridge which we were told is one of the five remaining in the USA. We met a nice man on the trail who gave us a lot of information. I’d like to visit again maybe on a cooler day ( it was high 80s) and do an easy trail lol. If you get a chance check out this park! There’s a nice pool, a place to get food and plenty to do and see!!!

We did a hike around the lake and it was a great short hike. We also did a tour with Patrick the naturalist who was very knowledgeable and fun.

I’ve been to Brown County State Park many times over the years for day trips or to stay in a cabin or the INN. Today was just a drive through for us after a day in Nashville, but this is probably the prettiest state park in Indiana. It wasn’t even in full color yet but absolutely gorgeous.

So one morning we decide to adventure into the park, with the help of the website we find out that they offer hikes and talks at the nature center.
The view are exactly what we need for a relaxing family time. Cant wait to get back

Arrived on a Friday in June, left on a Sunday. The campsites in Buffalo Ridge Campground were not private, not wooded and not spacious. The bathhouse wasn't particularly clean but did have flush toilets and showers. At NO time were we or anyone we talked to able to get cold or cool water in the showers. It was over 90 degrees during our entire visit and a cool/ cold shower was what we all wanted. Some complained the showers were too hot for their children. When we spoke to a very nice person in the guard shack we were told there was nothing that could be done to get us any cold water. The camp store was very nice with fountain drinks and ice cream bars and the usual essentials. There was a large pole street light by our campsite that flashed on and off randomly throughout the night. The mountain biking is good and the woods are lovely, that being said, I'm not sure I have any interest in staying there again.

The park is too big to finish in one day. Would stay longer if we knew it's this big! Don't forget to climb up the Fire Tower and enjoy the better view.

despite the rainy weather, we had a great time. We ended up with a tornado warning while there & the Inn staff was wonderful.

Went to the saddle barn first and rode horses. Our guide Jamie was a lot of fun. Did the hour ride and glad we did, just getting really comfortable after about 25 minutes. Horses were gentle and trail was pleasant. Picnic and hiking for the rest of the day, huge park did not cover half.

We rode out bicycles throughout the park. Beautiful scenery with outstanding view. Challenging on a bicycle throughout a beautiful forest.

Just spent a month in Nashville area. Brown County state park is beautiful in the fall. Hiking trails for all to enjoy, scenic overlooks and picnic areas. Nice people too. $9. entrance fee for out of state. Well worth the price.

Loved the trail system here... I’m hooked on brown County S.P. And can’t wait to return and explore.
The pool at the end of a 30 mile ride was a huge plus and much welcome amenity.

We rented a cabin for the weekend, the park is very well maintained, nice rds, lots to do. Friendly staff, highly recommend.

Great place to spend time, plenty of room to roam, places to go, things to do. Trails to hike or to bike, something for everyone

We started at the north entrance going through the quaint covered bridge. The attendant at the gate was quite pleasant. We received a map and was on our way.
The map wasn’t so helpful in details. So please don’t use it as your only means of guidance.
The #10 Tower Trail was our morning hike. We started with the climb up the tower to find that the top platform is closed. And as other people reviewed the view isn’t what it must have once been before the trees have grown to 100’ heights. Off to hiking we were met with the first dilemma, do we go to the right or left. We chose left. Left was the mountain bike trail not the hiking trail. No matter, it provided a great hike.
Next was lunch at the lodge restaurant. What a treat. The hamburgers were great and tasted as if they came straight off the charcoal grill.
Off to the second hike which encircled Ogle Lake, trails #4, 7, & 5. The lake is beautiful and you need to see it on a cumulus cloudy day.
We can see why so many people visit during the fall color change. The vistas are beautiful and plentiful.
Make it a point to come at anytime of the year.

This state park sits on several ridges with beautiful, expansive views over acres of trees. There are a couple of lakes and several loop drives that highlight the location of the park. Visit the Abe Martin Lodge, which has rooms and cabins for rent and a very nice restaurant, where we had a great lunch. There is even a waterpark at the lodge that kids would love. There is also an outdoor Olympic size swimming pool that is open in the summer. There are many hikes available for those who want to hike.

I am a local and I love getting out to Brown County State Park to refresh and recharge. The trails are approachable, ranging from paved beginner discovery trails to rugged, steep hills. Any season is a beautiful one to visit this park and there are always signs of wildlife. The lodge has a charming restaurant and there are several visitors centers sprinkled throughout. The Horse-back riding is an excellent experience.

We really enjoyed ourselves when we visited the park. We brought our bikes and took a nice ride on the trails. We saw alot of the park and the beautiful views. We cant wait to go back!

The drive was early from Dayton Ohio. But well worth it. The park is truly amazing and so much to see. A few hours to hike and see some of the great trees, mountains and wildlife. The lakes are beautiful and pristine. The sunrises are incredible to see from many spots along the drive. Pack a lunch, water and a great pair of hiking shoes.

We did not stay here, just spent an hour or so. Lodge seemed very fun. Nature center was very interesting.

We went mainly for the fire tower. It was a lot of fun to climb. We decided to drive around and just take in the sights. There were a lot of little places to pull off and get a good view of the vast expanse of trees. We decided to walk a bit of the trail around Strahl lake. We had a great time. The little waterfall was pretty to see. I mostly enjoyed the drive around the park. It was peaceful, relaxing, and beautiful.

Nature Center is so informative and FUN. An actual working bee hive. Great bird watching area (and squirrel too) Also outside gardens and herbs.

The fall leaves this year will be short due to drought, but it is always nice to drive through one of our state parks.

This park is beautiful! The roads are freshly paved and smooth. There were plenty of places to pull off and admire the view. Plenty of shelter houses for gatherings. Playgrounds for kids and a swimming pool. Campgrounds look clean and well kept. There is a lodge and cabins to rent that look nice. Definitely a place I want to stay!

Spent the weekend in the park very beautiful and peaceful, plenty of trails , lakes were really nice , swimming pool, plus a small water park in the inn.rustic cabin was what it says rustic it was a good weekend trip.

Drove thru the park and enjoyed the scenery. Unfortunately the only complaint is it was hard to go slow and enjoy the woods with people rushing up on your bumper. Outside of that the roads were very well maintained and the park seemed very clean.

Has lodge with dinner buffet, wifi, country store, swimming pool, hiking trails, nature center. We camped in RV. Shower houses clean with plenty of hot water

We have been going to Brown County State Park with our family for years. We hike, go horse back riding, enjoy the water park, and love shopping in Nashville. The family cabins are terrific. This year I made the unfortunate mistake of staying in the barracks style housing they call regular cabins. During this pandemic, the cabin was dirty, the sheets are in a bag for you to put on the bed — and they are too small for the mattress. The cabin smelled super musty and we had to air it out immediately. The air conditioner is really loud as is the fan light in the bathroom. We are facing the back of the lodge and hear service trucks, garbage, etc. Finally, the land has been scraped all around so it’s just a dirty, muddy mess. Don’t book one of their comic book named cabins.

Thought the park was beautiful and well maintained. Loved driving through and visiting the park over the past weekend.

I’m sad to say I have loved an hour from here my whole life and this was my first visit. It was very hot and I suffer from asthma so couldn’t get out and hike but we visited the nature center and they were having activities for Smokey the Bears birthday. We did the seven vistas challenge which allowed in to drive place to place and check out the scenery. If you are a mountain biker there were tails everywhere. They had a big pool. There is a lodge and restaurant and lots of areas for camping. We will be going back. Thank you for this beautiful place.

Have been going to this park for 60 years.. I love it for its beauty, trails, swimming pool , horse barn with trail rides, picknik area and convenience to Nashville, Indiana ... a real gem ❤️❤️

This was our first time visiting Brown County State Park. we are looking forward to coming back with the grandkids and doing some hiking. The park is beautiful especially with the colors this time of the year. we also stopped in and looked at the cabins and the lodge very nice and the prices are very fair.

One often thinks of state parks in the summer as full, rushed, and with limied resources for the overload they must endure. Well, we missed all of that in Indiana's largest state park with a mid-June, mid-week, three day trip to the park. We stayed in the main lodge in a king size room (Number 309) and found it to be one of the best rooms we have stayed in in any park anywhere! That says a lot. We ate in the main dinning room and the food was good, served promptly and very reasonably priced. All in all, if you can contact the park office and find a time when the registration is less than half in the lodge you want to go for it. You won't be sorry.

Beautiful park. With lots of scenery and great place to visit. Stayed in rustic cabins. Lots of places to picnic.

BC State Park is the largest SP in Indiana. It's hiking trails are what we go for but it's also known nationwide for great mountain biking.
It has a lodge, cabins and camping. It fills up on holidays and in the Fall for its beautiful colors! It's located in Brown County known for its Fall foliage.

The hiking is very good any time of the year, but the Spring presents many beautiful wildflowers and flowering shrubs. Try to go before the trees finish spreading their new leaves as many flowers try to finish flowering before then. The nature center has many exhibits and cases with live turtles and snakes. I saw a short presentation on Snakes by a very well-prepared naturalist.

I was here for a business meeting at the inn and stayed in the campground. The leaves were beautiful and the tenderloin at the inn for lunch was great. There is a nice nature center and miles of scenic driving in the park. One minor complaint about this and several other Indiana state park campgrounds, dealing with the dump stations. There is no threaded hose connection to hook up a black tank flush port. With most newer rv’s coming with the black tank flush, this is an adaptation that would seemingly be simple to do and would be much appreciated.

While we spent the night here we did a couple of trails .They were well marked and a the views were nice.

One of the best state parks I've visited. Great hiking trails and beautiful views. Had a great 6 mile hike with my poochy!

It was a warm sunny day so my wife and I decided to picnic in the park. We drove over to Strahl Lake and had our picnic there. Very scenic and serene. We took a nice walk around Strahl Lake. After leaving the Strahl Lake area we drove over to Ogle Lake and around the park. The nature center was closed maybe because of the time of year. We did however see a coyote run across the road while we were driving in the park. A beautiful gem in southern Indiana.

We were excited to check out the trail then found out it was $7 each to get in. Not realizing it cost money we decided to try again a different day. But we have heard great things and have been told it is worth the money and great for a honeymoon idea.

So much to see and do here. Bridges everywhere that are made for photos. Streams paths and so much to do for everyone

Beautiful state park. Lots of hiking and bike trails. We packed a picnic lunch as we did not realize we could get something to eat at the lodge. Small daily entrance fee . very scenic and relaxing driving through park. Lots of scenic overlooks. Nature center is very informative. Really nice area behind visitor center with many bird feeders and birds

This is such a beautiful and well cared for park. The lodge in the middle of the park is amazing - the indoor water park is fun for both children and adults. The cabins in the woods are a must stay for those who want to get away from the city life!

Yeah, it’s $9 for out of staters but the park is very nice. Roads are very good. Staff is helpful. Trails were very easy to find, well maintained and not too busy at least in late September. It was also fun to climb the old fire tower.

We only had a few hours to spend at this park would love to come back and stay in one of the cabins. The gate keeper was so friendly and informative. The park is beautifully maintained with amazing views.

One of the most beautiful parks, especially in the fall! I've been going since I was a child, 50 years!

Over two days we hiked the majority of the trails at Brown County covering different terrain and enjoying many different views of the fall colors. Just know that if it's peak leaves season it will be very crowded. Arrive early and get out of your car into the woods and you'll have a much more enjoyable visit. We stayed at the "primitive" cabins at the Abe Martin Inn with our two dogs and had a lovely, relaxing time only going into the lodge to get takeout breakfast and dinner to eat in our room. If your dogs, like ours, like to sleep on the extra bed, do housekeeping a favor and bring a throw or blanket to cover the bed they use.
Horseback riding and hiking
Excellent hour-long horseback ride at the Saddle Barn. Current rates were only $26 for an hour. The staff was great and our guide Jamie was very engaging. For someone who's only been on a horse a couple of times, these were the perfect horses. I really only needed to touch the reigns a small handful of times. The trails were absolutely beautiful with a nice mix of terrain.
Lots of nice trails to hike throughout the park. Several were shared use with mountain bikers. The trails were very well maintained.
