great local theater

By thesnowman |

Small old style summer stock playhouse on the river. Good site lines and production values make for a first class experience. Lovely out door area for drinks before the show and a great balaconay over looking the river for intermission. Parking is tight you might want to park in one of the bigger town lots and walk to the playhouse

Great professional shows in a small theater!

By rcgaynor |

I’ve been to several shows in the past two years at his venerable theater. Comfortable seating in a fairly small space so that it seems like you’re almost part of the show. Professional sound, sets and lighting really make for great shows. The new restaurant attached to the playhouse serves excellent appetizers and meals at prices not out of line for the area. Great bar selections as well, with plenty of liquor, tap beer and wine choices.

A real gem.

By Richard K |

Intimate, well managed historical playhouse with an amazing history of famous actors/actresses. 400+ seats and not a bad one. Wonderfully helpful staff who clearly enjoy their jobs. Another must visit when in the area.

Nice theater in a nice community

By raudetra |

A very cute theater where there are no bad seats in the house. They have started to sell drinks and some snacks in the foyer and allow these item to be brought into the show.

Parking can be a problem on busy shopping days; the lot is metered. There is valet parking but not at every performance. The ticket prices seem reasonable and the sound system is more than adequate.

If they offer a show to your liking, this would be a great place to see it.

Great regional theater, loved the show - The Buddy Holly Story!

By LL28 |

This was our first visit to the Bucks County Playhouse and we were thrilled with it and the fantastic show we saw, The Buddy Holly Story. It was by far the best regional theater performance we've ever seen anywhere. We were blown away by the talent of the cast.
The manager gave a very informative introduction about the theater's history and a bit about the cast. We will be back!

Wonderful show!! Theater looks great!!!

By shaynashayna |

It is so good to have this theater back and WONDERFUL to see the quality of the production. We were fortunate enough to see "My Mother's Italian My Father's Jewish I'm in Therapy!
The theater has been renovated, people are enthusiastic, and the seats are very comfortable--could you ask for more.?
Check out the upcoming schedule; lots of good shows to enjoy.

New Hope is a great town to walk around and you can walk over the bridge to Lambertville if you choose. Restaurants abound--I checked Trip Advisor and was thrilled with our selection--Italian Cucina

Thoroughly Enjoyable

Went to the playhouse last night for the first time. Although it was preview night, the play went smoothly. Great singing and professional acting. Will definitely go again, although it is a four hour drive
Makes a nice weekend with the wife.

Rock and Roll Man is a great show!

By loripshopper |

This was our first visit to the playhouse and we loved the facility. Every seat is good and the play was really great!

Great opportuntiy to see a play withough having to go to NYC

By davidforrest2018 |

There are many great shows here in a quaint little town. Avoid the hustle and bustle of NYC and enjoy a day here.

Great Show -Beautiful Theatre!

By Terri I |

We went with friends to see The Million Dollar Quartet while visiting New Hope, PA. The show was terrific, the theater beautiful and small enough that every seat is guaranteed to be a good one. There is dining right outside the doors and the theater sits right alongside the Delaware River. It was a wonderful visit!

Restoration of Playhouse Fabulous

By RigbyHolly |

Grand old house reatored to invite people back to the place so many people from Broadway first made his or her name. Come to enjoy a play, see the town, and read about history

Great shows

By Jim B |

This place Is a gem. We went to see the Buddy Holly Story. Great acting and musicianship.

Wonderful, small theater with nice sight lines and acoustics. Will definitely go for other shows. The production values are outstanding.

Also went to see Million Dollar Quartet- what a show. Lots of fun and energy!

Wonderful experience !!

By rn513 |

Recently saw "Barefoot in the Park." It was wonderful to be back in this theater where I've seen shows since my high school days. Great show, reasonable prices, all seats in the beautifully restored theater are good seats. Just one small issue was the parking. Parking is always at a premium in New Hope. We arrived early as advised to secure a parking spot at the theater. For our $10. we were told we would have to move our car to another spot in town immediately after the show even though we intended to lunch in town after the play. Rather than spend $10. at the theater to park and then an additional $10 to $25.00 to park in another lot (REALLY !), we chose to park off site and walk to the theater. Several small lots are available for all day $10.00 parking within a block or two of the theater. All in all a very enjoyable day....we will definitely return.

Performance was good, interior still looked like it had not been cleaned enough from the FLOODING a few years back....

Great little theatre

By Cathy H |

First visit to Bucks County Playhouse.
Small venue, so there is not a bad seat in the house. Nice setting on the Delaware river, with a patio overlooking the water.

Great little pay house

By maspaz4 |

Took my teenage girls to see Clue. Had a great time. No bad seat and the acting was superb. Great place to see a show with your family. The ticket prices are reasonable and New Hope is a nice town to walk around before or after the show.

Historic NY Quality Theatre

By monac759 |

I’ve attended many plays at the Bucks County Playhouse. It’s been restored beautifully and still
continues to deliver top quality entertainment. A must visit.

Awesome!

By Fran C |

Went to see Home For the Holidays. OMG so funny and entertaining! Very comfortable and cozy theatre. Highly recommend when visiting New Hope to catch a show..

The Bucks Playhouse is a treasure

By Laundrydiva |

I moved to New Hope a few years ago.Our family trys to get into NYC for shows as frequently as possible. We quickly became season ticket holders after seeing one show at this lovely theatre. The Bucks Playhouse is a gem and the performances rival many we have seen on Broadway. Locals should treat themselves, support our local theatre, and get season tickets. Visitors should plan trips that include a show! Fabulous!

Great local venue with talented casts

By BluEyes1962 |

I've lived in New Hope for years and was excited when it was confirmed that someone had bought the playhouse to restore and reopen. I've seen 2 shows and both have been fantastic. Venue is quaint, comfortable seating, with good handicap access. Only down side is the parking situation, get there early and stroll around or leave yourself extra time to find parking.

Great Presentation of Hard Road to Heaven

By Bernard L. Fontaine, Jr. |

We got great seats to see an amazing play. The cast was stellar. The singing and dancing were awesome and authentic. The theater was eclectic. Full of patrons, the seats were very comfortable. Parking was not free but the valet put the vehicle close to the exit door.

Great local theater

By ronald p |

Bucks County Playhouse does a great job of putting on quality productions for a local audience. They have selected a nice, diverse series of plays and performances to please a large number of potential audiences. They have also attracted some big name talent and make the theater affordable.

Great venue, great staff, great show!

By John M |

We went to go and see 'The 25th Annual Putnam County Spellng Bee' in September. What a very sweet venue. Intermission is spent outside on a veranda overlooking the river. The seats are very comfortable and the staff is very, very welcoming. The quality of the production was undeniably top shelf! Can't wait to go back again very soon.

A Historic Attraction

By AnAdventureAddict |

This wonderful old playhouse has some enjoyable entertainment. It was recently renovated and I am so glad the new owners have chosen to give it another life. Bucks County Playhouse sits on the river and offers the New Hope surroundings for an enjoyable afternoon / evening.

Another must see in New Hope

By James S |

We just attended an afternoon showing of "Barefoot in the Park" in the refurbished playhouse. Although we had not been there for years and have no idea what condition it was in, the entire facility was beautiful. I am by no means an expert on the theater but the play seemed well done and from their bibliographies the cast had obviously been around. One of the nice things about the playhouse is its size. It is not very large at all so we were quite satisfied with the cheap seats in the back as they were MUCH closer to the stage than any other theater we have been in. Seating was comfortable and provided ample space. Further, the outside seats offered more space between the inside seat and the wall. Being in the back also offered egress through the rear door which opens onto a balcony overlooking the falls, a great view that avoids the crowds both during intermissions and at the conclusion. Ticket prices were reasonable. It was wonderful to see this historic landmark revitalized and once again well appreciated by the community.

I Haven't Been in Years But Now That Has Changed

By lookinforelvis |

It has been a long time since I came to see a show at this theater. It was run down and the actors were mediocre.Well...what a change! After hearing how Pasty Cline was so fantastic along with other past shows , it gave me the encouragement to give this place a try again. So I just saw "Once" last week and it was equal to any Broadway performance I have seen!!!!!The woman sitting next to me told me that since it has new management, all the productions she has seen since have been wonderful. Thank you to the management group who cleaned up the theaters act and made it a go to place again.I am already lining up my tickets for future shows!

So glad to be a part of the Theater

By RejuvinateandThrive |

Glad to live in this great town. Happy that bringing the Playhouse back to life is moving along steadily. Great nights under the stars outside too.

We have seen many shows at the theater and look forward to many more. Eat in town, people watch, then enjoy wonderful performances by highly regarded people!

Excellent shows

By Jayne H |

I have always enjoyed the shows at the Bucks County Playhouse. They are well produced in a quaint historic setting. There are several excellent places to do for dinner before or after the shows. It is a wonderful evening out on the town.

Rocky Horror Picture Show

By Philip R |

Buy group tickets every year and always a great time! The renovated playhouse is very nice. Seats are comfortable and always a great seat throughout the house. Love the tradition there!

The Stage Was Alive with Music, Dance & Song

By OldBridges |

Just saw a crowd-pleasing, full audience performance of Guys and Dolls. The stage came alive with so much talent packed into one small theater - especially the stellar performances of Steve Rosen (in the role of Nathan Detroit) & Lesli Margherita (as Miss Adelaide). This production runs through August 12th - so, if you enjoy revivals of Broadway musicals, don't delay putting this one on your "To Do" list.

Play Canceled

By Nate B |

My wife and I were looking forward to seeing the play. We were told at 7:30 pm the show was canceled due to an illness.

We're able to reschedule or request a refund. It's just very disappointing we paid $25 to park in a nearby lot.

We were looking forward to having a good time.

Great local theatre

By andoffigoagain |

Smooth operation getting tickets either online or over the phone...the plays we have seen over the past couple of years are professionally done...can’t say nothing but good things about this theatre...there is parking...but by the time the theatre starts ... all the spots are most likely already taken by visitors of New Hope...u can also do valet parking...but it will cost u ...$ 20 for valet...so either u come super early ...park and have lunch before the theatre starts or you will have to open your wallet to get a spot!

great show in a lovely venue

By maplest151 |

Always..Patsy Cline was just wonderful. 2 woman show with Sally Struthers and Carter Calvert and a full band behind them. Great music. The theater is cozy and situated right along the Delaware; it is beautiful. Watched the sun set on the river and the clouds changed color. Wow!

Rocky horror picture show

By kate v |

It was such an amazing cast and crew. It was like going to see a Broadway production. My family and I had a blast. Thanks you for an amazing time.

Romantic building, lovely play.

By Oliveseeker |

I have fond memories of going to country, regional theatres as a young person and this one did not disappoint. The outside of the building is very atmospheric and beautiful. There is only a small lobby that I could see. The play was lovely (Other Desert Cities). One person responsible for getting people into the theater in time was not tactful with me (better training needed), but others were hospitable. If it was NYC, it would have been just an annoyance, but I expect more gracious service when I am in the country.

Bucks County Playhouse a great theatre

By William W |

I have seen this show at several theatres but this one "BLEW ME AWAY", it was from my time and it was just like being at a real concert. It was by far the greatest one I've seen. The cast was professional and it was obvious that a lot of practice went into this show. I believe everyone gave this show a standing ovations. If you haven't been to BCP in a while you really should go and see one of their shows, especially this one.

Bucks County Playhouse

By pnm2012 |

On Wednesday, a group of friends and myself thoroughly enjoyed the production of 42nd Street at the Bucks County Playhouse. The acting, dancing, singing, costumes and sets were all really great. I was pleasantly surprised how good this theater is. I used to go often years ago and hadn't been there in a while. But, after seeing this great show, I definitely look forward to seeing more. I highly recommend.

Very impressed

By Travelforfuntoday22 |

This was the first time we attended a musical at the Bucks County Playhouse. We saw 42nd Street and the show was excellent. The dancing and singing performed by a very talented cast left the audience feeling upbeat and happy. The orchestra and cast, including several Broadway veterans, elevated the caliber of the show well above what I expected from a smaller venue. The playhouse itself is quite nice and situated in a beautiful location by the river. I would suggest paying a bit extra for the valet parking if you have a member of your party that is unable to walk long distances or if you are unable to get there early to secure parking in the theater lot.

Million Dollar Quartet

By Storyteller538994 |

Very entertaining from beginning to end. Especially enjoyed the tidbits by Jerry Lee Lewis imitator, both verbally and musically.

Not your usual review of the Buck County Playhouse

By MDB1973 |

We had an elderly relative join us on Saturday, 12/2/2017 for the 2 pm showing of The New World. After enjoying the show, we were walking through New Hope, only to have this elderly relative realize he lost his wallet. After a thorough "body search" we went back to the Bucks County Playhouse and found that an honest employee had turned the wallet (cash and credit cards in place) into the office. Thank you to that faceless hero - it could have been a very disruptive evening, week, month.

Musical Revue

By floss757 |

If you have not been to the Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope since it has reopened you are in for a nice surprise. Have been to two musical shows ' In the Mood" and "The World Goes Round" and can't wait to go again. absolutely the most talented singers, dancers and musicians you will find anywhere. Located on the River and surrounded by restaurants and shops, try to combine it with dinner or lunch. We went to a Sunday matinee and had dinner on an open terrace overlooking the river following the show..... a great way to spend your birthday.

Very nice well done renovation; top notch talent

By brice2 |

Went to see Mothers and Sons starring Tyne Daly - it was excellent. The play house has been recently renovated such a refreshing change from the last time I went 5 or more years ago. Great show in a beautiful location with lots of places to walk to near the theater - a great combination.

Impressive Production

By Catapano |

Saw "Ain't Misbehavin.'" Very professional production with great orchestra and sterling cast. Historical Playhouse is great fun

Off Broadway performances and near theater prices

By NewarkScubaDiver |

The venue is small and the staff is a little over-eager. However, the real takeaway is that you may be able see an off-Broadway production without the hassle of NYC traffic, pedestrians or folks.

First Friday Debacle

By GiveMeDaShore |

The shows are hit and miss here. We like the one night shows best where they bring in singers, comedians and acts. It's nice to see professional acts come to our area. The smaller musicals and plays that they produce are okay, but terribly overpriced. The ticket prices are as expensive or even more than Broadway shows. Being New York is so close I would rather see professional theater for the same price. Also Music Mountain is just across the river. It's more professional, half the price and offers free parking.
We ate the Playhouse restaurant in June and we noted what a great location to watch First Friday! First Friday are fireworks over the river in New Hope on the first Friday. Before we left we asked the hostess if we had theater tickets could we watch the fireworks from The Deck. Big smile and she said that is what everyone does. You can come through this door (pointed to a connecting door) and get a drink and watch the fireworks from the Deck! It sounded like a plan!
Next day I went the web page and tried to booked tickets. I was shocked two tickets to see amateur theater in New Hope would cost $170.00! That seemed crazy so I called, nope no discounts that was the price and back row seats at that. Only because it was First Friday did we buy these tickets. Again my wife asked, if we could go to the deck, after the show. With no hesitation the lady said you can go to watch fireworks right after the show and not leave the theater and they don't start the fireworks until the show was over.
We went to the show, it was okay. However when the show was over we headed into the Deck only to find a rope across the door and two very young girls guarding the door. The one was very young and had the deer in the headlights look when we tried to use the blocked door. The other gal must have been vaccinated with a Victrola needle. She would wouldn't let us get a word in edge wise and just rudely talked over us telling us the door was off limits and we had to watch fireworks from the parking lot. But to add insult to injury they were allowing cast members and fellow employees through this door - but NOT customers!
Well we the last ones out the front door. The board walk area was so full we had to watch fireworks from behind the building in the parking lot and saw nothing. We paid an obscene price for bad seats to a so-so show and were lied to by employees that we could go to the bar after the show from the theater.
Staff is extremely young and has no people skills and the right hand doesn't know what left hand it doing here.

Great experience - The Broadway experience in New Hope

By Bryce S |

We attended the opening night of the Marilu Henner show o. Saturday evening. We had a great time. The theater is excellent.

This is NYC Broadway quality entertainment in the center of New Hope.

They do an excellent job observing the pandemic protocols. Masks were recommended inside the theater. This was widely observed.

The Marilu Henner shoe was outstanding. It was about two hours including a 15 minute intermission. Then show included the star, two supporting dancers and a person on piano and another on drums. She held the audience’s attention with many two or three minute segments of speaking, singing or dancing.

There is a lot to like.

Are there negatives? Yes, but they are minor. We arrived early, relaxing in the courtyard. There’s a bar serving drinks. It’s difficult for the one or two people making drinks and handling payment to keep the line moving. It’s a minor factor.

Here’s a plus: the6 have freestanding tables and chairs in the courtyard, as expected. They have a long bench running the length of the property on the right hand side. There’s plenty of space to sit with your drink while you are waiting.

We would return.

Beautiful Regional Theater on the Delaware River

By David P |

My first visit to the Bucks County Playhouse in many years. I went for a Wednesday matinee of Leader of the Pack: The Ellie Greenwich Story. I love the location of the theater right on the Delaware River. The show was great. The singers and dancers were fantastic. A couple of minor grumbles. The restroom is tiny and located in the back of the theater. They charge $30 for valet parking in the Playhouse lot. Plenty restaurants in New Hope, but the BCP has a restaurant/bar on site called the Playhouse Deck with great views of the Delaware River. Proceeds from the restaurant go to support the Playhouse. I enjoyed the restaurant and posted a separate review. Overall a great time and I look forward to returning when they perform a show I want to see.

My First Play

By JoRoD1959 |

This was my first experience watching a professional play. My wife chose to get us tickets for "Steel Magnolias" because of the excellent and well-known cast. We took two of our adult children with us. We all really enjoyed the show. The acting was top-notch and the set was well-made. The fact that we were familiar with most of the actresses from their other work made it more fun. The Playhouse is small but cozy - it was nice and cool (perfect for us). Our seats were in a great spot. Drinks were available at intermission and there was enough time to stretch and get some air. My son and daughter each had the "Shelby Drink Your Juice," my wife had a Jack Daniels and as the driver I had a cup of coffee. We were able to enjoy these in the theatre during the second half of the play. I truly enjoyed this night and I would recommend the Bucks County Playhouse to anyone who enjoys stage productions. The tickets are not cheap but what we saw was a quality show with some great talent.

Great Theater No Gridlock

By monawashere |

I am delighted to report that the Bucks County Playhouse is alive and very well! The theater has undergone a renovation which makes it more comfortable, attractive, and accessible, yet retains its vintage look. We took a chance and subscribed to the summer series, choosing a midweek, choose-your -own dates. It has been lovely to dine in Lambertville or New Hope followed by a short walk to the theater, turning a mundane after-work Tuesday or Thursday into a mini-weekend. The plays have been very good, both well acted and well directed, with surprisingly good sets. The talent is tremendous. Allow time to find on-street parking and have plenty of quarters on hand. Try a drink or some snacks on the Playhouse deck overlooking the Delaware. Some hints- there isn't a bad seat in the intimate house, and if you commit to a series, you gain the privilege of trading your seat for a different night if you can't attend. Just go!

Broadway on Main Street

By wsheart |

The new re-designed and renewed theater is warm and welcoming. The shows are well chosen and professionally produced. We plan to go many times in 2014.

Boring couldn't wait to leave

By Isabella G |

Nothing like the movie, didn't even change the scene. The men were important, never saw one of them. $70 for what. $30 would have been more appropriate not to mention the parking charge. Please don't bother.

building steals the show

By travelling_boomer |

Just saw "barefoot in the park". Nice to see new talent before they get to Broadway. The show was great; but just could not stop admiring the wonderful building and thinking about all the history at that location. Go if you can.

Mamma Mia better than the Broadway version!

By Cancersucksprep |

Enjoyed an amazing night out seeing Mamma Mia. The set, the music, the cast all were incredible! I found this version to be funnier and more endearing than the Broadway version. There’s not a bad seat in the Playhouse and the new addition of The Deck on the back is a welcome treat on the water. Will be back soon! Highly recommend this wonderful show!

The Day the Music Did't Die

By duck8to |

Like all things Bucks County Playhouse has changes over the years. A major renovation took place in 2012 when new owners took over. Tickets at one time were $20, now they range from $30-$60 but with an increase in name acts. It's still a small comfortable rustic intimate theater. Seats afford an excellent view of the stage with a modern sound system. Sometimes tables are set up in front with drink service. These tickets are more expensive of course. The stage curtain is unique and looks like a "Grandma Moses" painting. Unfortunately they still need more bathroom facilities. They have a bar in the Gazebo in front of the Theater. The bar in the back is a public bar which exceptional views of the Delaware river. A picturesque waterfall is adjacent to the theater. You can sit at the bar regardless of whether or not you have a theater ticket. They have some finger foods and the prices are reasonable. Parking can be challenging. There is street parking and it is limited and metered. Plan an after noon in New Hope before you see the show and you might find a spot. It's $20 + tip for a reserved spot which you can make online with your ticket purchase. They have same day ticket sales online or at the box office. It's $15 for self parking which is also limited. Union Squire a few blocks down from the theater also has parking. The performance quality varies with the show. "The Buddy Holly Story" was terrific or maybe the nostalgia got to me. Great to hear the old songs song by great voices and actors.

Nice theater in a small quaint town.

By tammyBaltimore_Md |

Saw Ed Asner in his hilarious true story of his prostate issues, happy to meet him after the show as well.
Theater itself is small and sits along the water, only issues is a very unlimited bathrooms.

Beautiful little quaint town, across the river from New Jersey.

Great Experience!

By MojoDining |

Went to see the Christmas Carol show and we loved it. Lots of puns and funny insider jokes about New Hope added to the traditional Dickens story.

Theater is small and all seats are good. Drinks available in the lobby are on the expensive side and valet parking was $20, but parking in New Hope is scarce, so we went for it and were glad we did.

Great entertainment for all ages.

Past Glories Restored - Moss Hart must be smiling

By OldBridges |

Bucks County Playhouse, located on the site of a former grist mill on the banks of the Delaware River, has enjoyed a long history featuring top-quality Broadway talents & plays in a beautiful setting. Summer haven, Broadway talents such as Robert Redford, Dick Van Dyke, Alan Alda, Grace Kelly & many, many more performed on its stage. Sadly, for a brief period, the landmark fell into neglect - that period ending with its purchase by the Bridge Street Foundation which enabled the Playhouse's beautiful restoration & its reopening on July 2, 2012. Since that time many alumni talents, such as Marilu Henner, James Earl Jones, Alan Cummings & more have returned to support the Playhouse's rebirth.

We became subscribers during its 2014 Summer Season & continue today - the venue offering a selection of comedies & musicals. Most recently we had the pleasure of seeing their adaptation of On Golden Pond starring Keir Dullea & Mia Dillon - a skillful portrayal of another time & of a family, with all its emotional baggage.

An added treat was the announcement that the actors would remain after the performance for a chat with those audience members who wished to remain. It made for a very satisfying theater experience.

Playhouse at Christmastime

By Sarah H |

It’s a Wonderful Life was performed at the Bucks County Playhouse, which featured a smaller auditorium, providing a more intimate environment. Before the show, one of the two female actresses sauntered down the isles, playing Jingle Bells on her ukulele. Outside, tens of people huddled around a large, unlit Christmas tree. As the lights flickered on, Christmas cheer swelled through the small community. The actual performance featured a minimalistic set; the idea being that the characters were recording for a live radio show. The cast was small, so each actor played the roles of multiple characters. The way they manipulated their voices and mannerisms was inspiring. The actor who really stood out was American Idol’s Justin Guarini with an angelic voice almost as soothing as his smile. I would recommend anyone of any age, especially families, to integrate this masterpiece into their annual Christmas traditions.

A great theater that harkens back to the day of "Let's put on a show!"

By Scott_A_Drake |

See a show — any show!

Great theater with excellent views from every seat. We've seen a Christmas special, solo performers, musicals and recently "Clue", which was the funniest play we've seen in a decade. Charming (albeit small) lobby is compensated by an outdoor patio in the front and a seasonally open deck on the Delaware River in the back. Take your drinks into the show with you!

TRIPLE ESPRESSO - a must see!

By KaMar4486 |

Love this theatre and have seen many wonderful musicals, comedy nights, plays, etc. Just recently saw Triple Espresso, a vaudeville show, with 3 guys who are hilarious! Definitely worth seeing and if you miss this one, check out their upcoming shows. This historic theatre has a outdoor deck bar overlooking the Delaware, sometimes with live music. A great place to see some amazing shows!

Nice place to see a show

By glenn3 |

My wife and I saw "MAME" yesterday and it was terrific. The renovation of the playhouse is very good. The seats were comfortable enough and it looked like everyone enjoyed the show. The bar was nice and the actors were all good. We'll be back

Nice little regional theatre

By David D |

Obviously it depends what show you are seeing but this is a nicely maintained historic old playhouse. There is some parking onsite which is nice because New Hope is always tight for parking. There is a lobby bar so you can get a beverage before the show or during intermission. Staff is freindly and helpful.

Restroom capacity is very limited especially for the ladies.

The Playhouse is Back!

By Compassrose87 |

We nearly lost our treasured playhouse last year. Some fine investors stepped up to the plate and granted us a reprieve! the playhouse opened last summer and has a full schedule this year.

great location great staff

By tom b |

We are season tix holders. This past Sat.night the show was Spelling Bee, best show of the season! Great singing and acting , every cast member did a great job. Very rare sanding ovation. Go see this well done show.

Great Entertainment at a Lovely Local Venue

By 65AroundTheWorld |

Saw Justin Guarini in Company last week. Although the play wasn't my cup of tea, the caliber of the acting was excellent. Also, the size of the theatre is small enough that all seats are good seats. Lovely outdoor area for drinks and light snacks on the River.
I've been here several times and it is a relaxing way to enjoy some good theatre locally.

Broadway Quality

By Margaret H |

We saw a production of “Once” at the playhouse and we were overwhelmed by the high quality of the production. Very comfortable seats and they allow you to bring drinks to your seats.

Cosy place for a concert

By Barbara E |

While the playhouse has undergone some renovations it is still the same small house that it was 50 years ago when I briefly ushered there. It was perfect place to have a summer matinee with fairly comfortable seats and an opportunity to imbibe at your seat. Nice to see the playhouse in use after all these years.

Dinner and a Show

By Rosie P |

My husband and I came here on the 1st of July for our 33rd anniversary. We saw the early show of 42nd Street and had dinner a couple of hours later. This is a really cute venue. We sat further in the back but still had a good view of the stage. Everyone working there was very nice and did a good job of showing everyone their seats. It was a very entertaining show and we’re looking forward to bringing our girls for Scrooge during the holidays.

Bucks County Playhouse, New Hope

By Anne O |

We saw "Chapter Two" last week at the Playhouse and it was so good. The actors fit the role so perfectly and the scenes were outstanding.
It is a Neil Simon Production and directed by Marsha Mason. It is good to see a nice clean play that had meaning and this one surely does. We do recommend this one to all.

Great Theatre - Terrible Parking

By moose444 |

I visited the theatre for the first time recently. The theatre seating is very good, not a bad seat in the house. The show, "Buddy, the Buddy Holly Story," was exceptional. So why did I only give it three stars you might wonder? Parking...the parking lot is small so you have to be very early or try off-street parking. If these both fail or if you have someone who can't walk far, you need to use valet parking which costs $20.00. If the young men who valet park your cars have places to put those cars, why can't those places be open to the theater attendees for no charge?

Small and Intimate

By worldtravelier |

What a place to see a stage show. Up close and personal. The venue is terrific! It is located on the waterfront. Bar just outside the entrance. There are plenty of fine restaurants within walking distance.

Broadway quality at very reasonable prices

By Bryce S |

We may live in New Hope, but we don't get to the Bucks County Playhouse often enough. That's about to change, since friends persuaded us to buy season tickets.

We saw "Steel Magnolias" live on stage last Saturday evening. It had a six member cast, most with extensive Broadway pedigrees.

Before the show, we sat at the deck bar with friends and noticed Danny DeVito, in sunglasses sitting quietly at a table. His daughter was performing in the show. To the great credit of the guests, no one approached or interrupted him.

The stage setting was spectacular, of Broadway quality. The audience erupted into applause as each recognizable actress first appeared on stage. The acting was superb. The audience gave a standing ovation at the end.

One of the cool things they do is serve mixed drinks (and soft drinks) in reusable heavy plastic cups with locking lids. This allows you to bring drinks into the theater.

This was a great night! We can't wait to see the other four shows in our subscription package.

Great Little Playhouse

By Ed D |

You wouldn't think a small place like New Hope would have a playhouse, much less a very good one, but there is! This is definitely worth checking out. The shows are reasonably priced, and there are plenty of other restaurant choices around for before and after the show.

Great Production Value

By Mark B |

My wife and I saw 42-Street there. It was our first time. We ordered a couple of glasses of wine to take into the theater, and were astonished at the price. Buyer beware! But the theater is nice. The seats are a bit small. But you have a good view of the stage from anywhere. They had a live orchestra, and the sound was excellent. Overall, the production values were high. Great acting, singing, costumes, lighting, sets, etc. This is not a band of amateurs -- far from it. If you're on the fence for whatever reason, don't be. Just go. You'll enjoy it! (BTW, parking in front of the venue is a bit tricky. Better to park elsewhere and walk. Metered parking in New Hope is cheap.)

Top notch theatre in New Hope, PA

By jonahNJ |

My wife saw a performance of Ain't Misbehavin' at a Saturday matinee with friends. This was our first time seeing a production at the Bucks County Playhouse and we were very impressed.

Parking fills up fast in this part of New Hope, but the valet parking was convenient and efficiently handled.

There are really no bad seats in the house and the acoustics are outstanding. The performance started on time with one intermission.

We all enjoyed the show and look forward to seeing other production at the Bucks County Playhouse.

Truely a gem on the river

By ptmickey |

So glad this theater was saved and beautifully restored. What a treasure in the center of a great town. Dont miss the chance to see something here for a fraction of the price of Broadway. Nice size theater, really no bad seat in the house.

Vanya and Sonia disappointing

By Alan S |

My wife and I visited the BCPlayhouse last night to see the play Vanya, Sonia, Masha and Spike. First time back to the playhouse since the renovations. Nice location with an improved exterior setting, along the Delaware river in New Hope. The theatre interior was upgraded as well, but it's still a snug fit with the small tight seats. About the play: very disappointing. Other than the actress who played Sonia, who was excellent and the young man who played Spike, the rest of the cast, including Marilu Henner were amateurish, at best. The first half had some moments of being decent, but not often enough. The second half was a disaster. The story line, especially Vanya's tirade on life was cliché and disconnected. Was he truly forgetting his lines and needing help or was that part of the play, unsure. But either way it was off-putting. Overall, not worth the parking fee.

Great Experience!

By Marjorie A |

We recently moved to New Hope and have seen 3 wonderful shows there. One was with
my grandson for "Aladdin" - one was with a visiting friend "Putnam County Spelling Bee" which we completely had a fun fun time. Our first was "National Pastime" which was great!
The Cafe before the show was delightful. I just wish it were open whenever there is a
matinee. Good pre theatre snack food and a wonderful view.
Parking is always a challenge in New Hope.

A gem!

By maryndick |

A beautiful gem of a theatre. The performance of Its a Wonderful Life was charming with terrific performances and a wonderful set. A great place to see NYC quality theatre in an intimate setting.

theater history

By bruce b |

A comfortable old playhouse with a lovely deck over the river for intermission. Terrific regional theater boosted by actors we've all heard of. We go to small theaters all the time and this is one of the best. Saw two great plays this past year and going again for 'It's a Wonderful Life' around the holidays.

By NL144 |

Nice productions and great location. Reasonably priced. Very helpful staff. Try to get there as often as we can.

Comfortable Venue, Great Show!

By SuzyQu15 |

Bucks County Playhouse is a community theatre that has its roots back in the 1930’s. It has been recently restored and has comfortable seats and lovely restrooms. We recently saw “Tick, Tick, Boom”, a musical by Jonathan Larson of “Rent” fame. It was an excellent production with terrific music, acting and staging. We try to see a performance whenever we are in the area. Saw Sally Struthers not long ago. Many famous performers have graced its stage.

Great place in the center of town to see a play! Not a poor seat in the house. Intimate , great show and refreshments. We'll be back!

Great gem in New Hope

By Kathy H |

New Hope is lucky to have the renovated theater with high quality plays using equity actors! Some offerings are presented here before opening on Broadway. Very comfortable and roomy seats, bar service, and so much more reasonable than NYC. A must visit if you are in the area!!

LANDMARK TREASURE!!!

By ladysinger719 |

This establishment is in need of repair but to locals is beloved and treasured! Excellent shows offered by New York talent!

Great iconic theater

By 3chances |

So glad someone saved the Playhouse. It's worth going and the cheap tickets are good seat. I love this place

Charming river location

By Suzanne B |

A small charming neighborhood playhouse. We saw a very enjoyable production of "Meet me in St. Louis". A true neighborhood gem!

Rocky Horror!

By Neha YC |

We went to see Rocky Horror, the midnight showing. The Playhouse and staff are great. It is a tad bit cramped in the waiting area and there is really only one bathroom, before showtime, and this can cause a major traffic jam so to speak.

Otherwise great.

Great location for a good time

By Rebecca W |

Saw an off-broadway show here, “A New World.” It was funny entertaining and even had some messages regarding accepting others. The playhouse has an amazingly intimate feel while also feeling like you’re in a high school auditorium. Great sound and lights. Bathrooms were a bit crowded, but aren’t they most places? Love the quaint feel and enjoying the close little town scene is worth it.

very talented and enjoyable evening

By njvj |

Went to see Steel magnolia's at Buck County Playhouse very well acted and directed very enjoyable evening with some amazing and well known talent. Would recommend catching a production at this theater if you are in the New hope area.

Rocky Horror Show 2016 at the Bucks County Playhouse

By 397dktravel |

We went to the Sunday afternoon performance of The Rocky Horror Show and were not disappointed. the actors were professional and captivating, their performance kept us engaged and was lively, colorful and definitely not boring. This was a fun show with never a dull moment. Be advised, the content is for adults, not for young children. This was our first time back to the Playhouse since the renovations, and were pleased. The seating offered everyone a good view even the back and seats on the sides. A word of caution about parking, there is metered parking in the Playhouse lot at $3 per hour, but as the lot is open to everyone who visits New Hope, this may not be an option. There were no metered spaces available to us and as the town was packed, due to time constraints, we had to opt out for the valet parking at $20. This may not be the case if you go in the evening when it is less busy, but be prepared if you are pressed for time, to pay the $20.

A Wonderful Experience in a Historical Theater

By pinky65 |

As someone who has seen over 85 plays on Broadway, I was very happy to see Bucks County Playhouse totally refurbished. I attended Bucks County Playhouse for many years and have seen some amazing plays. The theater is small and rustic and there is not a bad seat in the house. Many Broadway stars have started here so it is no surprise that many have come back to support this playhouse. I have seen James Earl Jones and Tyne Daley in Love Letters, Marsha Mason, Alan Cummings, Marilu Henner to name a few. The plays are very professional and you feel as if the actors who are in the play have come home once again. It is a wonderful experience, professional acting at an affordable price. I have seen 15 shows since its opening...I have never been disappointed.

Topnotch Performers in New Hope, PA

By rsrkag |

I have been going to the Bucks County Playhouse off and on since I was in high school (many years ago). Now my hubby and I or my daughter and I go fairly often. One of the more recent shows was "42nd Street." Wow! It was a first-rate performance. I like all kinds of performances: musicals, plays, comedians. BCP offers it all in a small theater venue.

New Season Opens with Star-Studded Dramedy "Steel Magnolias"

By OldBridges |

Such a perfect little summer theater and so glad this gem has been restored to reflect its former glories. Come see its rebirth; enjoy its wonderful selection of plays & celebrate New York quality entertainment in a beautiful, river-side Bucks County landmark.

Yay!!!

By Sherreal |

Always pleased when we visit BCP. Productions are well done. We also have given tickets as gifts (and the recipients loved) Parking is limited. Get there early, or park elsewhere in the town and plan to walk a bit. Definitely recommend this theater.

Wow have they grown, as professional as Broadway

By Nancilee W |

Since I moved to New Hope in May 2018, I have been delightedly amazed at the professionalism and picks of the plays at the Playhouse. I have seen all of them 2 some 3 times and taken all my visitors to see what's running.

If you had been disappointed in the past, forget about the past, they now have Broadway producers picking the shows and it shows.

Terrific Regional Theater

By Robert_P_Richardson |

Just saw Neil Simon's "Chapter Two" at the Bucks County Playhouse. Great show, as always. It's exactly the kind of show that won't be brought back to Broadway, which primarily needs huge musical spectaculars; a revival of a smart comedy without big-name stars isn't on the agenda. That's why you need great regional theater.

Lovely, Comfortable Local Theatre

By SuzyQu15 |

We have been to several performances at this quaint, local theater and have never had a bad seat in this intimate venue. We recently saw the Christmas production which was an original play based on the Dickens “Christmas Carol”. Professional staging, acting and costumes made it very worthwhile. We thoroughly enjoyed this show and look forward to the 2018 season. Parking is available, although the lot is fairly small.

By Sue S |

We've lived in New Hope over 20 years and are so happy the playhouse is back on its feet with great productions and live music. Enjoyed the show.

Terrific venue

By karen_gettman |

Have seen a couple of plays here that were excellent! The deck bar in summer is lovely at intermission or before/after the play. A fun thing to do when you visit Lambertville/New Hope.

Intimate theater, great views and fun

By JDR0 |

We have visited the Bucks County Playhouse a number of times and have always enjoyed it. Great entertainment, productions and casts. It is an "actors equity" theater so the actors are pros, many well known. We make it to almost every performance since we live nearby, and always have a great evening there.
The outdoor terrace bar along the Delaware river is a very pleasant intermission experience too.

Food was basic menu and OK.

By ericoftheeeast |

Food was basic menu and OK. Service was very pleasant but slow. Prices were good considering we had view of the river. We ate there just because we were seeing a show. Probably won't be hurrying back there.

A great theater

By PA40Love |

The Bucks County Playhouse has recently undergone extensive renovations and is under new ownership. It has quickly become the crown jewel of New Hope once again. I have seen several shows over the last year. The most recent was Joy Behar over Mother's Day weekend. All have been excellent shows. The new owners are continuing to expand and improve the amenities with food and beverage services. I look forward to seeing many more great shows.
Welcome back BCP.

Recently renovated

By Lindsay M |

A beautiful barn-turned-theatre in New Hope! You can see the Delaware River along with quality performances featuring Broadway actors. The renovations are beautiful. Check out the bathrooms at the back of the theatre -- rustic luxury! My old complaint is that New Hope charges $15 to park in the adjacent lot, which is way too much.

Clean friendly atmosphere. Pricey cocktails. Great show. Comfortable seats seem to be good anywhere you are seated.

Small, intimate theater

By Rachel K |

Saw Rocky Horror show here. It was great! The cast was really able to interact with the audience. The theater definitely had some old charm. There's also an outdoor area where you can hang out and have some drinks before the show starts. I had a very nice experience!

Really fun and intimate theater

By wahoowa1213 |

This little gem is on the banks of the Delaware and has really fine productions. One fun and unique thing is that they serve cocktails geared around the show! Nice outdoor patio on the river to have a drink during intermission.

BEST!!! Loved Bucks County Playhouse

By Linda5000 |

My favorite vacation is to stay at the Lambertville Station Hotel & walk across the bridge see a play at the Bucks County Playhouse, a fun theater in New Hope, Pa!

Stronger than the storm and other woes.

By GregCzar |

If ever you have the chance the playhouse is a wonderful place to see a show, make a weekend of it and stay in one of the B&B's in the area it will be a great vacation or just a make it a great day of it in New Hope PA or Lambertville NJ.

Love this theater

By Marci Darling |

I just saw Candace Bushnell's one-woman show, "Is There Still Sex in the City" and I absolutely LOVED the theater! It has twinkle lights, a huge waterfall, an excellent restaurant, and it's a wonderful place to see a show!

Great show and theater

By poohlbi |

Saw " Dancing to the Movies" show. Excellent song and dance show. Exceeded our expectations.

The theater has damaged during Sandy. So a lot is new. It is a wonderful small theater. Bathrooms are available inside the theater They are clean and tidy.. Plans are for a bar out side and more bath rooms.
Valet parking is available for $20.00 but very limited. Keep in mind they block you in. You could wait some time to get your car out.
Parking on the street is a contest of perseverance. We choose to park in the city lot up on the hill on the other side of the canal. It is a bit of a walk. Cost was $15.00 for 2 days. You can browse the shops walking back and forth.

Buddy Holly Story & dinner at The Deck

By Sush19067 |

We celebrated our 30th Anniversary with friends, starting with dinner at The Deck (awesome views and very good food), followed by The Buddy Holly Story. Very entertaining, extraordinary talent that had everyone on their feet.
Bucks County Playhouse is a treasure!

Intimate Broadway in PA

By WRVin |

A true winner. Shows are top Broadway quality, often with Broadway stars. The staff are top rate, professional, very friendly and extremely accomodating. The theater is small, intimate, with no bad seats. The venue is a gorgeous setting. Definitely leave time for a glass of wine relaxing on the river. And you are easily within walking distance for great dining and cocktails.
And ticket prices are affordable.
Discover excellance in Bucks.

The Male Intellect :An Oxymoron

By Grac L |

I just saw the funniest show of my life! It was 90 minutes of non stop belly laughing. We didn't know what to expect and thought it was going to be a man bashing. Quite the contrary..as both sexes and their relationships with each other are the subject of Robert Dubac's show! We have spent 3 times more for show tickets on Broadway and not been so totally entertained! It is a must see!

Old time fun, great venue

By Jfasch |

This was my first time here and thoroughly enjoyed it! Will return whenever they have a production I like.

By Chuck M |

I used to love going to see the many shows that would be performed there and my oldest daughter, now an actress, saw many musicals for the first time at the Playhouse. We were so sad when it closed. We have not been back since it re-opened.

OUTSTANDING IN EVERY WAY

By DIANE PATTERSON |

I've always wanted to see a show at the Bucks County Playhouse. Yesterday, we finally did. We saw "the Tale of the Allergist's Wife", starring Marilu Henner, Marsha Mason & David Garrison.
IT WAS FABULOUS!!! The theater, itself, is an outstanding venue to showcase wonderful talent.
Every seat is a good seat. We'll be back, for sure!!!

Wonderful Little Theatre

Just saw the radio play version of Its Wonderful Life. It was a very enjoyable show. The theater is really nice inside and has extremely confortable seating...sound was excellent too. Highly recommended.

Beautiful New Hope- Timing is Everything

By Elaine O |

We had a wonderful time, and the weather was beautiful, but it was the high season. All the restaurants were fully packed so were the hotels. Traffic was bumper-to-bumper, nonstop all the time. I’d go again, but not in the high season.

The Best Rocky Horror Shows

By M A |

The wife and I would go to the annual Rocky Horror shows here. Definitely one of the best if not THE best shows, but only when they're held at the Bucks County Playhouse itself. The playhouse is well laid out, and the inside is big enough to hold a decent-size audience and stage, but small enough that you don't feel like you're in a warehouse. You have a good view of the stage from any seat and the accoustics are very good. This isn't a rinky-dink theater either; they can support some nice, large sets. FYI, last year (2012), the Rocky Horror Picture Show was NOT held at the theater, I think due to construction, but rather at a nearby venue called the Fuge. It was the WORST RHPS show I've ever been to, primarily because the Fuge is so awful. No sets, virtually no props, a poorly-laid out venue, I could go on and on. Simply puit, if you're a RHPS fan, be sure to see it at the playhouse.

Broadway Performances

By karesp52 |

My best friend asked for a suggestion to entertain her sister -in law and teenage niece. I suggested the Bucks County Playhouse and later that week after securing tickets online, we all headed to New Hope for lunch, shopping and the show, The World Goes Around. The show was wonderful, Broadway worthy voices, and from the playbill we were not surprised to see the vast list of shows and some Broadway credits for cast members. The playhouse is small. We sat almost in the back, but the accoustics were excellent. The orchestra is live, no longer recorded as we were told. It was cool in there on a hot day. They offered half off on tickets for the next show, Summer of 42, if you bought the tickets that day. Good deal! Get there early, 45 minutes ahead at least, to park in the small parking lot. You will pay $15.00 to park yourself or 5 extra dollars for valet. Once parked, you can sit inside or outside, get a drink from two bars and some snacks. For three dollars, I enjoyed the chocolate chip bar. You can take your drinks inside when seated to watch the show, however there are no cup holders. We all very much enjoyed the show, even the 14 year old who laughed throughout several of the songs. We can't wait to go back.

Not a bad seat in the house!

By Milford18337 |

Just the perfect size. Limited parking, so if you can, get there at least an hour early. The town itself is fabulous!

Pleasant experience, but seemed overpriced.

By Carol S |

I went to see Steel Magnolias, and enjoyed the play. It fell a little flat when compared to the movie, but the actresses were a delight. I must say, I was a little disappointed with the venue. The lobby was small and people were awkwardly lining up around the very small bar - waiting as one nice young man filled drink orders. If there had been another person to take orders or money, it would have moved along much faster. There was one single bathroom in the lobby - one person in the room kind of bathroom. (It was announced that there were more bathrooms at the back of the theater, but I assume they were not available until we were allowed into the theater - 1/2 hour prior to the opening of the first act.) Again, this formed another line! In a small lobby, you had people lined up to use the bathroom, people lined up to get a beverage or snack, and people lined up to get into the theater. People who worked there were very nice. I sat in the 4th row and had no problem seeing or hearing. No balcony, so I don't know how it was for folks in the back of the house. I paid $20 for an all-day parking pass. It seemed a bit much, but New Hope is full of charming and unusual little shops. There are many restaurants too, but they are pricey - due to the tourism in the town, I suppose. It was a great day trip, and it sits right on the Delaware river, which is nice. Some restaurants have outdoor seating that overlooks the river. I enjoyed my day, though traveling solo for the day! It was a little extravagant in the cost, but I felt the ensemble of great actresses in this particular play was worth the money spent.

Only visited deck bar-not reviewing play or insise

By J Lynn |

We got lured in by signs of fresh
Mojitos and live music so we mosied on to the deck bar around 2pm. Small little bar with a great view to just sit and enjoy.Tables have neat wine bottle flower vases. I ordered mango Mojito and hubby ordered strawberry mojito. Both very tasty (mango is quite sweet be forewarned). We were one of three couples sitting Up on the deck and that allowed us to ask the waiter about dinner spots which started a convo with other patrons. We enjoyed relaxing here for a drink. We then followed the guitarist to the front of playhouse where I took my dirty martini (plastic cup only but fine by me). No speakers, just the guy and his guitar which was nice. Few people sat there waiting for the play I presume. My husband and I enjoyed the jenga game on the table and teamed up with a couple we just met and had many folks watching us play!
Just a cool area to hang and have a drink, even if you aren't seeing the play.

Harken back to the 1940's and 50's when New York artists were everywhere in New Hope

By SteelerFanInPhilly |

An historic theatre in New Hope, PA (Bucks County). Recently renovated, but with the same look and feel of days gone by. Some amazing TV and Stage stars have graced this very stage. Today it offers excellent performances by those well-known performers and up and coming stars.

Great venue and a great town

By vankalen |

My girlfriend and I took in a show one night. They have made great improvements. We got cocktails out on the deck while waiting for the show to begin. Friendly staff and ample parking. New Hope is always a fun day. This place brings it into a fun evening

Professional Theatre in Bucks County!

By SuzyQu15 |

We recently saw the current production, "Rock and Roll Man" at the playhouse. It was outstanding! Since this is a small venue, almost all the seats are good. The performance was terrific, an original show with a very interesting story based on the life of famous radio disc jockey Alan Freed. The cast was very talented and the music fantastic. The theater is charming, recently renovated. We have seen several shows throughout the years, and all have been worthwhile. Highly recommend!

No one has a good seat

By mrsail |

Seating is not ideal here. You can either sit up front with the high stage and look up , or in the back which can be very far from the action. Add to that the poor bathroom facilities and it's not an enjoyable evening.

A walk in summer-stock history.

By Stockdoc |

Renovated tastefully (and now air conditioned), this original Bucks County-based summer home to Broadway seemed to come live after being rescued from foreclosure by several newly endowed foundations. The echos of early 20th Century divas and Broadway greats remain; time will tell if the crowds return year-round.

A gem

By Vivian B |

It is great that a small town like New Hope can have such a great resource like this theatre. We have been many times and the quality of the programming is excellent. There are two bars that serve liquor. The seats are small but comfortable. All in all this is a great spot for good theatre.

Great Cozy Playhouse

By BillD5853338 |

We saw Cindy Williams give her one woman show about her career with video behind her and a Q and A at the end. She was absolute endearing and sweet. The Playhouse is cozy and clean and a great place to see anybody and feel you are close to the action. The staff was friendly and helpful. I recommend seeing anything here. You will enjoy it.

Best Playhouse for you Buck

By Spikey716 |

We just enjoyed the Buddy Holly Story. A fun night was had by all! The entertainers went over the top to please the audience and this playhouse is one of the best I've been to. When your in the area don't overlook the Bucks County Playhouse. You won't be sorry!

Excellent presentation of Broadway play. Miss Adeline stole the show by far and leads were all very good. We've seen other shows here and they do not disappoint!!

Historic day for rock n roll icons brought to life.

By Steve D |

Attended the opening performance on Aug 10. Extremely talented cast of musicians. We especially enjoyed the great rapport that Sam Phillips, played by James Ludwig, had with the audience. A must see show in a neat venue like the Bucks County Playhouse.

By Elaine R |

Haven't been here in a long time. My parents enjoyed the shows they've seen here. I know other people that will catch a show here every so often. To me, it's too far to see a show when I have play houses closer to home. If you are staying in the New Hope area for the weekend, then by all means catch a show!

Be prepared

By Tonyinzo |

The current show is the Rocky Horror Show This version is XXX. I think many people in the audience were uncomfortable. I would not recommend this presentation. Other shows we saw were excellent

Very nice venue

By kirk h |

They said it was newly refurbished. I don't know what it looked like before, but the seats were comfortable, beautiful wood floors. Very nice venue.

Beautiful venue

By BethV536 |

We attended a play this fall at the Bucks County Playhouse. I was so happy to see how well restored it is. The play was excellent. We are lucky to have the Playhouse in our area.

Great show and great theater.

By teena1014 |

We went here for the first time last night and had a nice time. The venue is small so seats don't matter. The show was great and of course New Hope is wonderful so if you see something that looks interesting, don't hesitate to buy tickets and go!

Buddy - a must see!!

By Jennifer C |

My boyfriend and I attended the opening performance of Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story last night. It was absolutely amazing!! The actors were fantastic and you could tell they loved what they were doing. They engaged the audience in a way that made it seem like we were watching Buddy Holly and The Crickets perform and not a play. Highly recommend catching this performance!!

Historic Playhouse

By Gary O |

This historic playhouse has the ambiance that goes with it. Nice performances well done. Located in New Hope it is part of the historic arts and crafts movement there.

THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY!

By NANCY M |

First, the good. "White Christmas" was a delightful show with great singing and dancing. It does vary from the movie but that kept it interesting. The bad: parking now costs $30. at the playhouse, which I find unreasonable and taking advantage of their customers. The ugly: the bathroom situation. I have never experienced anything quite like it. It was a full house and they only had four stalls in the ladies room. Everyone had to line up, single file, on the steps. It took forever. Upon leaving you have to go down the opposite side of where you are sitting to get back to your seat. There has to be a better way. I would still recommend the Playhouse as the production was so enjoyable. Just beware of parking costs and maybe wear a diaper!

Outstanding Musical Revue

By jan c |

I was visiting a friend and she bought tickets for the show THE WORLD GOES ROUND playing at the Bucks County Playhouse. Wow! what a powerhouse of talent. All actors had wonderful voices and great stage presence. Saying they were "Broadway quality" is definitely true since they all had Broadway credits and some had had Tony nominations and other drama awards.

Wine and drinks were available in the lobby and you could bring it to your seat which was a wonderful touch. It was a thoroughly entertaining evening of musical theatre.

Something old, something new, something wonderful

By EAM1950 |

The setting works:
a charming location in a great retaurant town with a grand theatre tradition, a newly renovated facility that kept its intimacy, added modern comforts and conveniences.

But "the plays the thing" that had to improve here, and it has. No more tired old Broadway shows with aspiring actors, the offerings now are first class theater, somtimes edgy, always entertaing, always with establshed actors.

This is just what New Hope has been missing for 5 years. Take a chance, if you enjoy theater, this is a treat.

Broadway Performance in New Hope

By tom K |

A group of friends enjoyed a first class performance today in a country playhouse with a rich heritage. First the play. Buddy Holly, a rock and roll icon of the 50's. It was as good and times even better than what we have seen it NYC for twice the price. The cast was enthusiastic, upbeat and so into their role that you felt the character they were playing, especially Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper. The singing was unbelievable great. I could feel being transformed back to the 50's. This was a superb performance and you could see the actors and actresses felt the same way too.
Now the Playhouse.
Bucks County Playhouse has gone through a renaissance of sorts. New ownership, flooding of the Playhouse and a complete make over. It's strategically centered in town, over looks the Delaware River with a great view.
Going to the Bucks County Playhouse is an enjoyable day or night out. Pricing is reasonable and the performances are first class and professional. I highly recommend anyone to go and enjoy yours.

A Treasure has returned to life!!

By Thom W |

This fully renovated theatre has come back from the dead after being closed for a couple years, opening last summer for a limited schedule and now this week with a full summer schedule of more than a half dozen productions, starting with Andrea McArdle (Broadway's original Annie), now all grown up and starring in the fabulous production of "MAME". The season is extremely promising, and I'm pleased to not only be an official "Production Member" but a full season subscriber.

If you can't find your way to Broadway, don't hesitate to take in a show here at the Playhouse in New Hope (Bucks County), PA.

Excellent

By wstmd |

Went to see the Buddy Holly Story and had a wonderful time. New Hope is great at night and stores are awesome. The playhouse takes you back in time. Parking is sparse. Definitely will return in the future.

Great Show!

By Charles D |

My wife and I loved the show "42 Street". Both the music and dance were excellent. The theatre is small, but comfortable.

Great night of entertainment!

By Juliet G |

Great venue! We saw the musical Anastasia and it was absolutely phenomenal! The music, choreography, set design, and singing were all top notch. I felt that this production could easily be on Broadway, NYC, but how lucky are we, that is it in New Hope, PA. There is a bar/restaurant attached to the theater, and Stella's is also right there, and its within walking distance to several restaurants and shopping.

What a gem!!

By lovetotravel184 |

Saw Steel Magnolias last night. Unbelievable talent on stage, all accomplished actors from recognized TV and Broadway shows. A great performance. Having Danny DiVito in the audience watching his daughter perform was extra special!

Have you seen a show lately?

By One4NewHope |

Bring cash parking at the theatre and for the bar, then enjoy a great performance while sipping from your sippy cup. The shows are great! Skip the line for the bathroom by the entrance and use the bathroom at the back of the theatre. Much better. Soon there will e a lovely restaurant on the back deck of the playhouse and it will be a great date night.

Three For One Review

By Alan L |

Here is a 3 for 1 review. Starting from the best. 1 of 3. Just saw Buddy (Buddy Holly), the show was superb mainly because of the actors. A great super energetic group of people. If you can see the show during this run, or a future run you will not be disappointed. 2 of 3. The playhouse itself. A quaint venue, all seats good. The seating is a bit tight, not airplane tight, but close. Drinks and snacks are available in the playhouse, and they just opened a restaurant/bar on site. Summer outdoor deck. Prices a steep, $10 a cocktail. Another annoyance is the parking. Valet is $20 bucks. New Hope is known for its parking racket, draining you of change and issuing tickets with a squad of meter checkers. ParkMobile app is accepted. What is more annoying is the valet uses a city lot further limiting the number of available spots, and then charges you $20. 3 of 3. The show we saw before Buddy was the Blues Brothers review - skip it, it was horrible. I gave the playhouse one more chance after the Blues Brothers with Buddy, and they delivered. Guess I will need to deal with the parking issue again for the next show.

Dial M for Murder.

The theater is lovely and stage is visible form all seats. The actors were great. Play was hilarious and entertaining. The access to beverages (refreshments) was good.

The Bucks County Playhouse: Reborn, Rennovated & Revitalized

By Howard K |

“Each night, when I go to sleep, I die. And the next morning, when I wake up, I am reborn.”
― Mahatma Gandhi

I have seen shows in the historic Bucks County Playhouse dating back to the 1970's. It was sad to see this historic landmark shut down. But like the bird of Phoenix, it rose from the ashes last year with new owners who dedicated themselves to once again make this theater a 'must see, must do' attraction in New Hope. It is fully renovated and better than ever. Great shows, wonderful talent, live music - it is a place to be embraced for all its charm and entertainment value. With the 'new' Bucks County Playhouse, I can skip the Broadway scene and visit New Hope, soak in all of its ambiance, shop, visit with the extraordinarily talented local artists, soak up the many historical attractions New Hope has to offer. And, least we forget, you have ventured into the equivalent of a gastronomical playground in New Hope and Lambertville with everything ranging from a chic coffee shop or specialty ice cream parlor to four & five star restaurants and everything in between. Welcome back and, as they say in the theater, "break a leg!"

Million Dollar Quartet!

By Lee369444 |

My husband, teen daughter and I saw Million Dollar Quartet. The show was absolutely FANTASTIC!!! I had a huge smile on my face during the entire show. The actors/musicians are incredibly talented. The show was definitely on par, if not better than, some of the Broadway shows I've seen. The Buck's County Playhouse is nestled in the beautiful town of New Hope, PA. The theater is comfortable and clean. They have parking at the theater for $20. We opted to walk from the metered Union Square parking lot (where the New Hope Children's Museum is located). It's about a 10 minute walk. Highly recommend the Buck's County Playhouse!

Best secret in New Hope!

By Rich P |

They completely renovated this playhouse a few years ago. My wife and I have seen several plays here since and it is a wonderful change!

The venue is very nice and the bar on the back of the playhouse over looking the Delaware River is especially quaint.

If you haven't been you need to make time to try it out. The bar is open to the public and the plays are fantastic!

New Bucks County Playhouse is Excellent

By gb197500 |

Have had an opportunity to attend a few events at the playhouse and they all were excellent ! All productions use actors equity performers and they are all excellent . Playhouse was refurbished and since it is small with only about 400 seats has great views from every seat . Their is no need to get the most expensive tickets as all are good .

A great little theatre

By jenn22554 |

The Bucks County Playhouse is back and much better than ever. It is now starting it's second full year after being fully renovated. They have had a good line-up of productions and have been able to host well known actors. It's a great value and provides quality entertainment for a very reasonable price. We saw five different shows last year, and expect to do the same this season. The quality of NY, without the cost and the hassle.

Great Experience

By Brian M |

We saw a one man comedy show there in November 2013. The venue was fine, the seating was good and the staff was very nice. This is a really neat experience. If you have the opportunity to see a show here, GO! There is parking nearby and if you're staying in town it's an easy walk to the venue from most restaurants.

What could be nicer than...

By Nancilee W |

A view of the river and a door to a theater? This inventive use of a snippet of land is especially delightful if you re seeing a play at the Bucks County Playhouse. Remember if you have “will call” tickets to pick them up before going into the restaurant!
Big portions of fine food and the chance to see producers, directors and actors seeing the show also makes this especially fun.

Playhouse theater

By Sharon Slickis |

Fabulous! Beautifully renovated keeping the historic feel but with modern conveniences.
Comfy chairs to enjoy entire play, great sound,
clean facility, cool outdoor bar overlooking Delaware river for intermission. Great plays!!!
I honestly can't wait to go again! The gem of New Hope! I loved "Good Night Gracie"! Highly talented actors and actresses! I loved Bake Off!
Great venue to see a play ad walk across street to the best food in town the Logan Inn.

Somehow this was my first time here!

By saturdaydiner |

I've lived in Bucks County for most of my life but had never been this historic old gem! Excellent little theatre with no bad seats, in a lovely setting in New Hope. There's also a nice little outdoor bar and again, it looks like it's only going to get better!

A playhouse devoted again to quality theatre

By JackIndo |

We caught a world-premiere performance of Mothers and Sons by Terrence McNally with Tyne Daly at the Bucks County Playhouse. After the show, the playwright, the cast, and the Playhouse producer had an invigorating talkback with the audience. The building, the show, and the conversation all persuaded me that the Bucks County Playhouse is back in show business.

Great laughs!!!!

By Victoria E |

My husband and I went to the Bucks County Playhouse on January 27th 2018 to see Late Night Catechism #3. It was great. We laughed the whole time. We had a wonderful night. There are really no bad seats.

Pleasant Surprise!

By songbird5212 |

A wonderful alternative to going to a large city venue to enjoy a live show and at a fraction of the cost. The playhouse is small and comfortable, and the location in New Hope offers a number of restaurants and local shopping within walking distance of the playhouse.

Better than expected

By JordanRullo |

Honestly, I don't like plays. I went to New Hope to the Bucks County Playhouse to see beauty and the beast. We bought the tickets a few months ago, because we knew it was going to be a full house. And it was. The theatre was in really good shape. And also for kids who cant see behind a person in front of you, they do have boosters. The show was just over an hour long with no intermissions. Pretty much everyone in it was between 13 and 18 years old. But still, it was really good. The whole audience gave a standing ovation (I looked behind me). This was better than I expected, because like I said before, I don't like plays. They have good shows. So I then proceeded walking through New Hope eating, looking at t shirts, and a few hours later went home. Recommended.

Excellent!

By BroadieNewYork |

Last night my son and I️ saw The New World at Bucks County Playhouse. Being from New York (and seeing almost every Broadway show) I️ was so happy about this excellent production. I️ booked the tickets due to all the Broadway actors and was happily surprised at how good the show was. Funny with humor like The Book of Mormon. I️ definitely see a future for this great show. Congrats to Bucks County! Bravo to an excellent cast (and the last minute step in, Justin Guarini). Stand Outs, were Ann Harada, Eddie Cooper, Clyde Alvies, Tyler Maynard, Jillian Gottlieb- and the exceptional Jennifer Perry! The playhouse itself was small, intimate and charming! Come see a show- THIS show!

High quality entertainment for a modest price

By tankr |

We are locals who have attended several productions at the revamped BCP and have never been disappointed. Most recently saw a matinee performance of Neil Simon's Chapter Two, directed by Marsha Mason, with a Q&A with Marsha and the cast afterwards. They have recently removed 3 rows of seats from the front, making ingress and egress more comfortable, as well as improving the view from the front row, as you're not looking up to the stage anymore. Shows usually start within 10 minutes of the advertised time and there is a cramped indoor bar as well as an outdoor bar with lots of table seating. Our only complaint is the $12 charged for a tumbler of chardonnay, but it does come in a cute plastic glass with a lid that you can bring into the theater and take home for re-use. Also, call for tickets, since the website does not allow you to select your seats.

Starr Tour Trip

By Mother59 |

The Bucks CountyPlayhouse was good. Nice tables and Bar to wait outside before the show. The seats were real close and all the same level. A little narrow for sitting. The Performance of GUYS AND DOLLS was EXCELLENT. I would recommend this to a friend to go see. I LOVE GUYS AND DOLLS and sang with it to not to loud tho.

An Evening with Groucho

By Capt_Bleigh |

We went to see "An Evening with Groucho" Frank Ferrente play the iconic character. The Play is outstanding, the playHOUSE is beyond complimentary to the actors who use it. Its fabulous acoustics, it's long history ( it is the only place Harpo Marx ever spoke on stage).
The theater group shows why these playhouses are so important. It is well lit, clean, well taken care of and clearly well loved. See a
Play, enjoy the atmosphere, easy valet parking, walk to great restaurants, enjoy the day.

A Play One Evening

By Keith F |

We were here for Labor Day weekend. We spent 3 nights in a local hotel, and we drove around and just experienced the area. It was a fun weekend, and we were very pleasantly surprised to find this gem. The Bucks Co Playhouse has some really cool history to it. Lots of actors and entertainers we know today got their beginnings here. Worth a one night show for sure! ENJOY!

Great Place for a Play

By Gina I |

Since the Bucks County Play house has been renovated it has become a great place to see a play. We have season tickets and every play has been done extremely well. We are looking for to the last play in our series of tickets in December and have already renewed for next year.

GREAT PLACE FOR ENTERTAINMENT

By Daniel H |

The playhouse has excellent plays, comedy shows and work shops. A very clean and nice theater. only negative are drinks are expensive

Great small town show!

By jblifeguard |

We saw "The New World Musical" back in November, 2017. It was thoroughly enjoyable. The acting was excellent, and some guy I never heard of from some singing show that my wife loves was playing in the leading role while we were there. The seats were very reasonably priced as were the food and drinks during intermission. Everything was clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. Go check out whatever is running when you're in town. You won't regret it. My tip for buying tickets? Don't pay extra to sit up front. We sat in the cheap seats half was back. for half the price of the other tickets and had just as good a view.

Terrific!!

By Traveler25616 |

We saw 42nd Street and had an amazing time. The staff was great and the play was superb. We have gone to the theater on Broadway, in Philadelphia, and at various community venues. The Bucks County Playhouse beats them all.

Local playhouse

By Luanne C |

This is a local playhouse in the small town of New Hope that we have visited three times during the last 2 years. The shows that we have seen were excellent. It was nice to not have to deal with the traffic of going into the city of Philadelphia. It can be a hassle going into the big city when we can see many of the same shows without all the hassles.

Rocky Horror Picture Show October 2017

By Jax S |

WORST Rocky Horror I've ever seen. The actors were talented but horribly cast. THEY CHANGED THE MUSIC!! And they added a random ukulele solo for Brad - weirdest thing I've ever seen. It felt like the actor had thrown a tantrum about how he didn't have his own song so they made one up just so that they could shut him up.
They skipped scenes, they changed scenes, they changed the costumes, they changed the music, they gave the narrator a weird accent. And worst of all Frankie wore a PURPLE WIG! A PURPLE WIG! And NO blue eye shadow. Are you kidding me?! And they charged $50 for the cheap seats! I can't believe they even went through with more than one show.

I would have rather watched the horrific TV movie remake. Anyone who is even the slightest Rocky fan, do NOT waste your time. It was a complete disgrace. Absolutely horrible.

My family and I drive to New Hope every October to see Rocky and for the past few years BCP wasn't showing it. So the New Hope Performing Arts Center picked it up, and they were FANTASTIC. BCP should give up and let the PAC show them how it's done because their version of Rocky was a disgrace.

A Great Theatrical Performance in New Hope

By capemaytraveler |

We have seen a few theatrical production at this theater and the last one was by far the best. It was the Buddy Holly Story; lively, entertaining, and well produced. The young motivated cast was very proficient in recreating their 50's characters ,and the musical abilities ranged from good to great. Overall an outstanding performance that left the audience standing .

Fun Evening with Playhouse Staff & Guests

By BJean J |

Spent Academy Awards night at the playhouse watching the winners accept their Oscars. Guests were treated to walking the red carpet and being interviewed before the show began on a big screen hanging from the stage.

Fantastic!!!!

By Sharon Slickis |

Best place to enjoy plays! Broadway talent comes to gorgeous Bucks County! Newly renovated wonderful seating comfortable! They enhanced the historic decor beautiful interior!
Highest quality productions. Enjoy local restaurants before or after the show!

Photographic!!

By Hgtravl |

I have not been INSIDE this playhouse, however, the view from the outside is BEAUTIFUL.

I am putting a review up for that reason alone.

You have the beautiful stone bridge overlooking the damn and the water below with all the adorable ducks. The playhouse itself makes great photographs! Myself and my husband have spent much time daydreaming in this location.

A cultural treasure

By smithmfa |

Loved it all. We enjoyed a good play very well performed. The set and lighting were also excellent. The new renovated theater is wonderful, especially the deck out back overlooking the river... a wonderful place for a drink before or after the play.

New York in New Hope PA

Presentation of an assortment of plays, musicals and original offerings is a truly great find with the remergence of the Playhouse

Laughed & Enjoyed

By ViennaSunflower |

It has been some time since our last visit to the Playhouse. The play was a great comedy (Vanya, Sonia, Masha and Spike) and the cast did a remarkable and spirited job of performing! It was not Broadway but I never expected it to be. We were up close and not sure if the seats were going to be good but they were perfect and comfortable. Probably anywhere you sit would be great as the theater is intimate. If you are interested in the show, take the chance and visit the Playhouse. The outside area is also nice to relax at before the show or during intermission for some fresh air.

Perfection. Absolute Perfection

By Bryce S |

The Bucks County playhouse is a great example of people who do everything right. The theater is recently renovated. It’s got good climate control. The seats are comfortable.

However, it’s the performances the keep bringing you back! We sat Guys and Dolls recently. What a show! 19 people in the cast! You would think you were on Broadway, only the tickets are far cheaper! We attended on a Saturday evening. It looked like every seat was filled!

We will keep coming back!

Do NOT go see The Nerd unless the Playhouse is paying you!

By Felice C |

Last night's performance of The Nerd was the absolute worst play we have ever seen (and we have seen many!). HORRIBLE dialogue; childish acting, not ONE laugh, silly, bathroom humor. We left after the first act. Particularly galling is that we paid $75 per ticket for 4 of us! Broadway prices! I justdon't understand - with all the great comedies out there, why choose an outdated, sophomoric, poorly acted and downright boring one. We are calling for a refund

Buddy Holly

By Mary689 |

Saw the Buddy Holly story here. It was great. We were in Bucks county for our 36th wedding Anniversary and happen to see that was playing and decided to go. Great little Play house. We really enjoyed it.

Nice place in a beautiful quaint town.

By tammyBaltimore_Md |

This old barn converted to a theater is really special, wonderful staff, beautiful on the inside as well as the view on the outside.

Upped their game, and it shows

By Kathy S |

I have been a regular at the BCP for almost 15 years, and have always enjoyed the performances. And while I loved the "local" feel of the playhouse in years gone by, the newly renovated playhouse, under new management, is really something. The prices have more than doubled, but you do really get what you pay for. Three bar areas (I like the one in the back overlooking the river in the summer, the one in front with space heaters in cooler weather, although both are over-priced), and the performances are first rate. If you want to cut costs a bit, I recommend drinking/dining in one of the neighboring waterholes before/after the show. And parking can be tough- if you get to town early, try metered parking at either end of town, or by the old church up the hill. Enjoy!

BCPH is New Hope pricing for NYC quality...

Bus trip with a tour group

By Rita B |

Saw a play here. Buyer and Cellar. Excellent show and performance. Very nice playhouse in the heart of New Hope.

A musical treat

By Joanne B |

My husband and I went to a matinee show on a very hot day. The performance was energetic and well done. Parking however is very pricey.

Historic Playhouse

By 1940dori |

Outstanding cast straight from Broadway...The Buddy Holly Story is a "Must See" for any generation. Can't say enuf about the hi-energy cast. Toes tapping, dancing in my seat. Good ole' rock n roll , in its infancy. The Playhouse is an excellent venue. And sitting in the heart of New Hope where u can stroll the streets for some nice shopping.

Clue!

By Josh |

Saw a fantastic version of clue here. I like it because it really does seem like it's hard to get a bad seat. Nice theater layout and big open staging.

Have attended three shows and everyone has been thoroughly enjoyable. After the show enjoy dinner on the newly added Deck restaurant.

Oh no the roads are closed , the show must go on but delayed

By Cookincath |

My mom and I had tickets for Clue on Stage on the day the gay pride parade shut down main street on New Hope from 11 to 3 and the play started at 2 pm. We knew about the parade but it was suppose to be over before 2 pm so we pre paid for valet parking at the theater , one BIG problem the parade started late and you couldn't drive anywhere near the theater. After driving around for quite a while I dropped my mom off at Bridge and Main and I continued to search for parking. Ended up at New Hope High School which is a little hike back to the playhouse. I did make it in time but many others did not.So luckily the management delayed the start of the play till 2:25 so all the ticket holders could see the play.
The play was funny and well done. Ninety minutes of fun and laughter . The theater is small and very inviting . We are looking forward to attending another play in the near future. They did refund us the fee for the valet parking that never happened.

The Male Intellect, An Oxymoron

By Patricia B |

We were looking for something to do on the spur of the moment last night and decided to see this show, it was a great decision and we laughed for the whole 90 minutes along with the rest of the audience.
The writer and actor Robert Dubac, does an excellent job of keeping the dialogue moving quickly while intertwining comedy and sarcasm. It was really a fun show and a nice surprise.
The theater itself is a small intimate venue (which I love) and even though it was a cold night the outside is festively lit and is one of the nicest spots in New Hope.

I Love Hamlet!!

By OldBridges |

Who would have thought a mid-November performance of "I Hate Hamlet" would have been plagued by a snow/ ice-storm which cut the matinee audience attendance in half. - but what a delightful performance those who did attend were treated to. Tom Hewitt's portrayal of John Barrymore's ghost was stellar - with loads of laugh-out-loud moments. 2018's subscription season offered 4 plays, including the fabulous musical "42nd Street", "Million Dollar Trio" & "An Act of God" - a great season indeed. Next season promises more great theater with "Dial M for Murder", "Mamma Mia!", "Always Patsy Cline", & "Once." Something to look forward to as we get through the worst of winter.

It Just Makes You Want To Sing Along

By rickpenne |

This past Sat my husband and I attended the production of "A Grand Night for Singing"
Sat in the 2nd row middle section. Don't worry at this venue there are no bad seats. The Playhouse has been renovated renewing it's original charm.Very clean no more smell of mildrew. Now BCP is not Broadway but the actors really give it their all for a very enjoyable evening. Kenita Miller was sassy and what a voice! Two things to remember. 1.Get there early to avoid problems parking (cost $10) 2. If you need the restroom get there early too seating there is limited. Taking your singing voice you'll want to sing along.

Best comedy show ever!

By KaMar4486 |

This is the third comedy show we've seen at the Playhouse this year and all of them were a lot of fun with some great comedians. But tonight's show with Kevin Meaney was absolutely hilarious!! It was one of the best comedy shows we've ever seen! Unfortunately, it was the last comedy show for 2014 but I can't wait to see who they have coming in 2015! There is a patio in the back overlooking the Delaware River where you can have cocktails before the show and during the intermission. Love the Bucks County Playhouse!

Buddy Holly - Fantastic!

By KaMar4486 |

Went to the preview of Buddy Holly with some friends and it was fantastic! This is the story of a rock and roll legend. You felt like you were back in the 50's going to one of his live shows. Excellent music by the whole cast. An enjoyable, heartwarming, funny show you shouldn't miss!!!

Take in a show

By Sheneal B |

When ever we are in the area we love to take in a show. This was our first time visiting since the renovation. We just loved it. Loving walking along the river and looking across the river with the view of Historic Lambertville.

A Rare Gem

By Suzette C |

Every production we have seen here has been outstanding. There is not a bad seat in the house.

We love the new deck which overlooks the river. It's a nice new addition.

Great Venue

By almNewHope_PA |

They have had some great shows, music and theater. The staff is friendly and it bring back an old time theater feel.

Amazing Little Playhouse In Our Hometown

By Edith D |

We have been to the Playhouse on several occasions. Most recent was to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show...It was so much fun! From the moment you walked in, everyone was in character. We got some drinks and sat in our great seats (there really is not a bad seat in the place) The actors were really good and the show was a lot of fun! We valet parked, so leaving was a breeze! Will definitely go back for more shows!

Million Dollar Quartet

By Life Begins at 65 |

This is one fabulous show! The musicians are about as good as it gets. The story gives one some rock and roll history and a great night of quality entertainment. Highly recommend this one. There is no bad seat in this small venue. Valet parking is within steps of the theater and worth the $20.00 and is available 1-1/2 hours before the show starts. Lots of good restaurants within walking distance of the theater as well.

So glad it's back!

By NJCathi |

The renovation of the theater is great. I remember seeing shows here back in the 70s and now that it's back it's better than ever. Saw two shows here this season and had wonderful seats for each (there really are no bad ones). It's an inexpensive way to see a show with wonderful actors locally. Make a day of it - stroll through New Hope, have dinner and then see a show.

Great Little Theatre

By djaehnig |

Loved the experiences and Intimacy of the theatre although the production of Scrooge's Big Playhouse Christmas Show was extremely undersold for our Matinee the production was excellent and the show while silly was exactly as billed.

Recommend this locale for other shows as the venue has an excellent production staff and knows how to put on a class "a" show. Only weird thing is the bathrooms are in the theatre at the rear, not outside the theatre. This can lead to some disruption of the performance I would imagine.

"Million Dollar Quartet" is Absolutely Wonderful!

By Kenny_Vegas |

My wife and I attended the opening night of "Million Dollar Quartet" at the Bucks County Playhouse, and it was truly the best musical stage play that we have ever seen. The actor/musicians were fantastic throughout the entire show. We loved each and every song, and gave constant ovations (along with the rest of the crowd). Being a guitarist and previous band member, I was especially wowed by the incredible instrumental talents of the two men who played Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. If you love good old Rock N Roll, you should not miss this wonderful presentation.

With many New Jerseyans not willing to venture out to Philadelphia or New York to see a performance this venue is a real option. We liked it each time we visited and our adventure started years ago with "Annie". The pandemic brought interesting outdoor performances as well

Love Local Theatre

By laurie w |

I do love the Playhouse. The reason for my 4 star review is that it does need a bit of an update. Otherwise, one of my favorite places for local theatre. Always have good companies.

We saw Ain't MisBehavin. It was really great! The actors were so talented! We would highly recommend it

Excellent Theater

By halinslp |

First visit, but will not be my last!! went to Rocky Horror Play and it was fantastic!!!! Theater was beautiful, parking was easy, staff was great, and the play itself was one of the most entertaining and fun plays we have ever been to ( including over 35 plays on broadway we have been to). Just a great experience!!!!!

Glad it's back!!

By KaMar4486 |

I use to love going to the Bucks County Playhouse and was so disappointed when they had to close. We went to their opening play and was very impressed with the renovations. Looking forward to their upcoming productions!!

Wonderful piece of history in New Hope

By Pattie B |

We are so happy that the BC Playhouse has been restored, and beautifully! This place is a gem, and so important to local and regional history. We saw "Barefoot in the Park" which was well done, lots of laughs and fun. We will be returning for future shows, we are sure. If you visit New Hope, this is a must-see!

Playhouse Performance

By Rosemary G |

Attended Rogers and Hammerstein's "It's a Grand NIght for Singing" at the renovated Bucks County Playhouse on July 19. The show was outstanding, featuring Broadway performers in a sparkling show. The Playhouse itself is warm and welcoming. I would have given 5 stars if not for the parking problem. The small lot was full, and I got the last spot in the second lot across the street. Even so, I'm looking forward to their next production and will attend if at all possible.
Ticket prices were reasonable.

Great shows

By Jim B |

This place Is a gem. We went to see the Buddy Holly Story. Great acting and musicianship. Wonderful, small theater with nice sight lines and acoustics. Will definitely go for other shows. The production values are outstanding.

Great Show, lovely venue

By 65AroundTheWorld |

6 of us decided to see Meet Me in St Louis. What a great treat! The acting was exceptional and the production was fantastic. We weren't sure what to expect, but we all went away impressed. The playhouse is also very intimate. Don't think there is a bad seat. Bar and snacks available outside and in. Bartender told us exceptionally nice outdoor setup in warmer months along with fireworks on weekend. Give it a try!

Theater

By dsklion |

Great show and nice venue. Staff very considerate. Nice location. I would continue to go there for good entertainment.

Cozy

By Andrew S |

I love watching plays here. Old-fashioned theater with good sightlines but uncomfortable tight seats (love your neighbor), expensive parking $20, and pricey drinks/snacks. Convenient location and quality shows.

Excellent theater!

By Pete7919 |

Wow. This is a fantastic place. It was my first time going, so I can't comment on the past, but it's really a top notch theater. They have 3 bars, one out front, one in the lobby, and one out back on the river. The back bar is covered and heated. It can still be chilly as the wind whips down the water but it's a great spot.

The inside of the theater is very well done. There are bathrooms at the back which are convenient. The seats all look new and there really isn't a bad seat in the house.

As for the production it was very professional. The sound and lights were excellent and the actors and actresses did a fantastic job. I will definitely be back for more in the future!

TIP: If you use valet parking you need to pay for it at any of the bars. Find the one that is least busy and take care of it early.

The Great Broadway in New Hope

By Jersey Girl |

The Bucks County Theater exceeds my expectations with every show! “Once” proved to be another smashing hit! Great performers, wonderful music, adorable theater, terrific seats, convenient parking, great bar for after show fun and only a few minute drive home at the end of the evening! Try to beat that Broadway!

Great venue

By Garden Crazy |

Loved the show, even if there were only 2 people in the story of Patsy Cline and her music. The singing was amazing. Lots of songs. Sally Struthers was very funny. Love how the waterfront was remodeled. Would like to try the new restaurant that’s part of the play house. Recommend you pay for parking when you buy the tickets.

Wonderful Christmas 2017 show

By goodfoodrocks77 |

This is a historic old building on a charming historic town with historic shows and talent and their Christmas show this year was wonderful , along with all their shows which rival Broadway and much Broadway talent has played here.

Misery was great

By Alice N |

This show was really entertaining. I am glad we saw the show. The cast was great. So glad to see this place is back open and really looks great inside. Keep the great shows coming.

Did the playwright really flub his lines?

By JFCSpartaNJ |

We went to Sonia and Vanya and Masha and Spike. This is a Tony award winning comedy written by Christopher Durang. I guess it is the conceit of the playwright to think he can star in his own play. However, he kept forgetting his lines and needed the prompting from an offstage assistant. Really? It was very "community college" and not professional at all. Next time he should write (which he does very well) and let others act (which he doesn't do well). He has absolutly no stage presence.

Renovated and wonderful

I've been going to the Buck County Playhouse for years and was very happy to see it brought back to life last year. They are upgrading everything in the theatre and have brought back the live music along with the premier of new plays. It is a joy to see the tallent coming back to New Hope, some names you will recognize and some new extremely tallents people. The staff has been very helpful with tickets and whatever questions you have. The parking is a problem but the area is known for that. We usually park further down to get a walk in or enjoy a dinner or light snack. Fun and economical way to get out and see live theatre again.

boring play Steel Magnolias

By sona0234 |

A friend and I were in new hope on Saturday June 4th, and spontaneously decided to watch the play. It is a very very boring play. The whole play takes place in a beauty parlor hair salon. There is no Drama, nothing exciting. The theater is a flat theater and the tickets for this show are way overpriced. This is not worth more than 30 bucks. It has 6 women in the show with little bit of story that they share. They never go in any details. They show four seasons and no details of anything. I actually fell asleep after the intermission. I wanted to leave 15 minutes into the play. Please save your money for another play or even for a nice Dinner and drinks elsewhere. It is way too boring.

Super cool old stone country playhouse with a custom stage curtain like a ️Gramma Moses print
We came here for a Saturday night date night.

As Good As It Gets

By Herstory_62 |

Regional theater as good as it gets: First-rate talent overflowing with personality & energy & only six instruments filled the rustic historic ambiance with classic Broadway melodies. More than fifty-plus years later & delightful Guys & Dolls has never been better!

Entertaining!

By Mike M |

My wife and I saw The New World production which we thoroughly enjoyed. Some of the lines were laugh out loud funny. This theater is small and comfortable and they are in process of building an adjacent building which will offer a place to catch a lite bite. The acting was very good in this show as was the lighting and sound effects. The staging was ok. Instead of fighting the Black Friday shopping crowds, this was an excellent alternative. Valet parking is offered. Wine, beer, soda and water was offered for intermission.

Rocky Horror Show

By Adjo47 |

Great little theatre.Saw Rocky Horror show Halloween eve. Cast was great show is hysterical. Give a bag of props to use during show. Great entertainment venue..

Long History Continues

By James S |

The Bucks County Playhouse has a long rich history in New Hope. As a matter of fact it helped form the rich art and theater history here in Bucks County. People like Grace Kelly, Robert Redford, Helen Hayes, Dick VanDyke, Liza Minnelli, Tyne Daly and many more have played inside these historic walls. If only these walls could talk!
I looked at photos of the 1940s theater and from the outside only a very little has changed. However recently the theater had a complete makeover inside - it's alive and well! The renovation is top drawer.
It was a beautiful summer night and we got to the theater early. It was great to sit and sip a cocktail on the patio.
We saw Justin Guirini in Company. The cast was outstanding, Justin was the weakest link. He had the music chops, he didn't have the acting chops. However staging, music, lighting and sets were beyond what I had expected.
I loved the cocktail lounge off the side overlooking the Delaware River, you can enjoy this scenic lounge during intermission.
I was impressed by the quality of production that BCPH put on. I loved seeing a production in these historic walls on the scenic Delaware.
One tip - if you valet, beeline it to the valet station as soon as the show ends. The pick up line canbe endless!

Buddy Holly

By KarenGP |

The play was great. Disclosure: We went because the star is my colleague's friend. The audience was on their feet and thrilled. I heard an usher tell John Dewey, who plays Buddy Holly, that she thought the performances were fantastic. All of the performers were impressive musicians. I also spoke to a husband of a BCP board member who raved. I cried (a little) at the end. I highly recommend the play and the playhouse.

New and Improved theater

By gmg613 |

First time returning after a several year hiatus, we were pleased to see a fully renovated theater. It had gotten pretty seedy and rundown in its earlier form. The seats had been repaired and we were very comfortable.

The quality of the performance reflected well on the talents of the performers and we had an enjoyable evening.

Bathrooms were updated, but still insufficient for the crowd.

You will be glad you went to the show!

Great place to see a show

By Carol757 |

My husband and I traveled to New Hope to see "Guys and Dolls" at the Bucks County Playhouse largely because we had a cousin in the show. We would definitely come back to see other shows. The theater is intimate with great site lines, and the production values are outstanding. My only complaint would be that the lines for the bathroom are epic -- there just isn't enough capacity.

national passtime play

By Anne O |

We just saw the play "National Pastime" at the Bucks County Playhouse and i want to tell you that we have seen many plays but this one was the best ever. All the actors could sing and dance as well. It was a hilarious musical which kept pour interest all the way to the end. I would recommend it to anyone who likes plays. the theater is also so clean and all the ushers are very very accommodating. We just loved this play!!

Wonderful Small Theatre!

By SuzyQu15 |

Bucks County Playhouse is a terrific small theatre offering several interesting plays during their season and a holiday show at Christmas. The venue is intimate so basically all seats have a good view of the stage. Acoustics are good, and clean restrooms are on the premises. Parking lot is adjacent and valet parking is offered at $20. Many restaurants are within walking distance. We just saw “Million Dollar Quartet” which was excellent.

Rocky Horror Picture Show Was Great!

By Tony C |

We had a really wonderful night here for the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Neither of us had seen it, and we were thrilled. The theater is nice, but only has one bathroom outside and one in the back of the theater. Also, we parked far away because we had dinner at Hearth beforehand, but parking at the theater looked like bad idea.

Great Saturday evening getaway

By 4familytravels |

Great little venue, clean with very comfortable seats, that are actually spacious, compared to NY Broadway theaters where you pay triple the price. Also location is amazing - perfect for a casual riverfront strll before the show, or take a waterfront bench seat and enjoy the scenery. $30 valet parking is a total rip-off though, as there are numerous municipal parking areas within 1-3 minute walk ($4.95 for 3 hours)

Fun Evening at Rocky Horror Show

By P0rtuguy |

The Playhouse is well organized, seating was very comfortable. Super entertaining Rocky Horror Show and we loved the outdoor Patio area they've created with outdoor bar, big efficient heaters and lounge areas

Good Show, Bathroom Issues

By ShanghaiSue |

We came to see the Buddy Holly Show. I enjoyed the show, really good energy and good cast. Lots of music and the story is interesting. The cast seemed like professionals.
Like many places the woman's bathrooms always have a big line at intermission. We thought maybe we the bathrooms in the restaurant area would have a shorter line. However the line was equally or even longer as the old creepy bathroom at the back of the theater. The one in the restaurant had a very long line but worse, it had a bathroom line monitor who was just unfriendly and mean. She was short with curly dark hair. She was like a mean gym teacher making the students stand in line and seemed to enjoy that role. The wait was forever and the lady in front of me asked her who the manager was to complain about the lack of restrooms. The girl said in a really unpleasant - "I AM the manger!' We all laughed when she turned around that we were all adults and customers and treated like 2nd graders in line to use a bathroom! Why do you need a bathroom monitor to yell at your customers?
Also they need a parking lot that is reasonable. They have a valet but it's very pricey and when you drive around New Hope you can't find a parking spot anywhere. I suggest rather than building restaurants they build a parking lot to accommodate those customers who need to park to eat at a restaurant or come to see a play.
The theater is good here, but they need to fix the terrible restaurant (separate review) and if you have a 100 seat theater, make sure you have enough WCs to handle all your customers. Also get rid of the unhappy bathroom monitor, make your guest feel wanted and welcome and not like criminals.
Good shows, really bad management.

Cozy atmosphere and quality performance

By CindyKWarrington |

My husband and I enjoyed the show, but the place is really what sells it. A nice bar on the deck for intermission and comfy seats makes this a great place to see a summer show.

The New World

By Shana F |

This was our first visit to Bucks County Playhouse and it was great! We enjoyed the comedy/musical The New World. The theatre is larger than it appears and very well kept. I don’t think there are really any bad seats and you don’t feel too cramped or like your knees are hitting the seat in front of you. The whole area is a fun place to visit with all kinds of shops and restaurants sprinkled in between historical locations. You can definitely spend the entire day enjoying the area.

Entertainment at reasonable price

By ladydi3318 |

Bucks County Playhouse has wonderful shows. The theater is comfortable and all seats provide a good view of the stage.
A great place to go for a matinee or an evening of entertainment in scenic New Hope. The only downside is parking. Limited metered spaces at the theater unless you want valet parking which costs $20 plus a tip.

Wonderful Venue/Great Play

By Victoria F |

I took a group to see Mame as a pre-wedding event. It was so much fun and the box office was very gracious in arranging our seating and tickets. Thank you so much.

Excellent - just like Broadway

By Michele C |

My Husband and I have been to many shows in both community theater and NYC. I have to say that I came to the Bucks County Playhouse to see 42nd Street with no expectations. Man, I was blown away with the talent. This show as exceptional. After leaving, we immediately bought tickets to their next show. Hope it's just as good. If you are looking for theater without the drive and prices of NYC, this is the place to go!

Wonderful Experience

By Ed V |

While in New Hope, Pa. for dinner, my wife and I came upon the newly renovated Bucks County Playhouse. It was obvious the outside area of the Playhouse was beautifully renovated. It was an off-day so no plays were in process. We went inside and the reservations person invited us to observe the stage and seating area. We were impressed. It was newly renovated in excellent fashion. We purchased tickets for an upcoming show "In the Mood", a musical, that we attended the subsequent week. The show was terrific and we intend to see more shows. Prices were very reasonable. We intend to buy tickets for an upcoming show in 2013 and give them as a Christmas gift to my son and daughter-in-law. Highly recommend the Bucks Co. Playhouse for a great experience.

Loved Hamlet

By Linda T |

As Season ticket holders we saw the recent production of I Hate Hamlet. We loved it. Bucks County Playhouse is our favorite date night destination. We are coming back to try the new restaurant .. right on the river.. then see Ebenezer! The musical shows are amazing.

Got to go to ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW on Halloween Saturday!

By Donna D |

We go to Rocky Horror every year for a long time. Bucks County Playhouse is the best place to go for this cult classic (having tried other areas like Brooklyn). We choose to go at midnight...The people are genuine and not afraid to be who they are...in all there glory - the energy is fantastic.

Great restoration and revival of a very important theater tradition

By chip37 |

Great revival underway! Diversified and inspired program. Everyone working hard to make this happen. Huge local and regional support.

Refurbished Playhouse = nice evening out!

By DianeSH |

Wanted to support local playhouse with long and famous history that was recently refurbished. I saw a video that demonstrated extensive remediations and I have to say it looks good! ... new seats , much better bathroom access/ accommodations (this is big, considering the previous set up), and the main attraction, the show, Barefoot in the Park, did not disappoint!

What a change!

By Janou J |

Having lived in Bucks county all my life, I was disappointed when it had closed but am now elated with the renovations of the theater, the upgraded sound system, and overall entertainment. Just saw "Barefoot in the Park"...it closes this weekend so you better catch it quick. Never saw the show before and I thoroughly enjoyed the cast especially the characters Ethel and Mr. Velasco. The $29 and $39 seats are just as good as the orchestra seats. Row P is the first $39 section and it was perfect! Go for P 106, 107, and 108. You will be right in the middle with a great view. The next long-playing show will be "It's a Wonderful Life" starting December 13.

Broad’s Way

By Paige Davis |

The theater is great!! This was the second show I’ve seen there. Just super. It’s cozy and quaint, but offers top tiered talent from New York.

Great Off Off Broadway Theatre

By SuzyQu15 |

The Bucks County Playhouse recently reopened after closing for renovation. It is a nice way to spend an evening; the theatre itself is nicely done, with lovely outdoor space in which to sit and wait. We saw Marilu Henner in a recent production, which we thoroughly enjoyed. It's nice to be able to see an actress of note in an entertaining show, and not have to pay Broadway prices. Backdrop and costumes were very professional, and all in all, it was a good night out. One thing, however, when they opened after renovation, they changed the parking situation; previously there was a large lot for those who were there to see the show. Now, it is a municipal lot where anyone can park, so this necessitates either getting there early to find a spot or parking elsewhere.

Overall good experience and would go again. Small setting great sitelines and fair price. Drinks outside were pricy but parking easy if you arrive early.

A treat

By Vivian B |

We have been many times and we have always enjoyed our experiences there. First, the theatre is small and the stage is easy to see from most vantage points. Second, for a small town theatre the talent is phenomenal. Several first rate actors are in the various performances. Finally, the seats are large and comfortable unlike those on Broadway. This significantly enhanced the whole experience.

Great Theater in a Beautiful Setting

By pinky65 |

I have seen more than 15 plays at Bucks County Playhouse. I was very happy to hear that the playhouse would be brought back to life because it was a place my husband and I would go when we were dating and could not afford Broadway. The plays for the most part are excellent. I admit I love some more than others....Buddy Holly and Steel Magnolias were excellent. The staff have always been friendly and very helpful and as a subscriber, you have a lot of flexibility if you need to change a date or purchase more tickets. The theater is kept very clean and there is not a bad seat in the house. It is a wonderful place to see a play and there are restaurants nearby to enjoy a good meal. I do see many Broadway shows but it is nice to have a wonderful local theater that has great shows at an affordable price. My only suggestion...more musicals like Buddy Holly would be excellent.

Not a Bad Seat in the House

By TeamMan |

On the other hand, there are not enough seats in the bathroom causing delays getting back from intermission and some frustration on the part of patrons. However, this problem will be resolved when the Playhouse expansion and renovations are completed in 2018. As mentioned by other reviewers, the lack of parking is also a problem.

However, despite these issues, the quality of the productions is first rate. For example, we just saw an excellent revival of "Guys and Dolls." Others shows we have seen since the Playhouse reopened a few years have all been quite good. And at $60 a ticket the Playhouse is a solid value.

We will be back again.

Love the Quality of the Productions -- the charm of the theater

By Sharla F |

I have always loved coming to New Hope, but now it is better than ever. Bucks County Playhouse productions are outstanding -- last night we attended the opening of "Once" ... it is BETTER than I remember from seeing it on tour. The cast, the direction, the set ... and the shows are always this good! Plus, dinner at the Deck Restaurant and Bar was delicious.

Enjoyable concert

By Alana R |

Very enjoyable evening with the songs of Linda Rondstadt. Buy your tickets early if you plan to see a show. And if you want to have dinner there make sure you make a reservation in advance.

Rocky Horror Rocked.....

By jeffnnj |

LOVE, LOVE the Bucks County Playhouse. Have seen two shows there and enjoyed both quite a bit. The reason for the one star demotion is that there aren't nearly enough bathrooms. Wait is often tedious. Otherwise great,

Rocky Horror at the Bucks County Playhouse

By Gwen G |

Go and see this show! The energy is unbelievable. The actors spot on. The music vibrant. The set fantastic. Don't miss its 1 week run if you want to have a blast.

Baby, it’s cold outside! But not in here…

By Benny |

Great location to see a play and have a wonderful day in New Hope. The play closely resembles the TV movie with Will Farrell. The main actor looks just like him. Unfortunately they didn’t sing Baby, It’s cold outside. We were geared up to sing along and it was omitted.

gorgeous theatre

By RogueTrippers |

Date of Visit: Sat Aug 19, 2023
We came to Buck’s county to see a show at the Buck’s County Playhouse – The Bridges of Madison County starring the great Broadway star, Kate Baldwin.
The area around the theatre is absolutely beautiful. The theatre is situated right on the Delaware river overlooking New Jersey.
The theatre is a renovated historic gristmill right on the water. The seating is nice and comfortable – with a little leg room – its not too tight.
The stage is easily seen from most seats without issue – as the theatre is small-ish.
The sound quality if fantastic - we heard every word and song as clear as can be.

I am glad we came to see this show because otherwise I don’t think I would have known about the town of New Hope and what a charming and historic little town it is.

A Country Gem

By Bob K |

This was our first time to visit since the Playhouse reopened. It was a wonderfully cozy feeling with delightful volunteers to attend to our party. Defending the Caveman brought out the best in our couples and added to the warmth of the theatre.
We saw the coming attractions over the next few months and plan to go back. There are some children shows that look good and the theatre feels like it would be a great venue for them also.

worth seeing any show here

By Chris R |

The playhouse has had a few tough years but now seems to be back on track and the shows have been well done. You can get quality entertainment without having to visit New York. Over the years we have seen top notch actors and well directed plays. The theatre is in great condition and the sets have brought the atmosphere of the plays to show their best side. It has been a very enjoyable season and for the price of a season ticket you can not beat the enjoyment we have had.

Great place to see a show

By Dan M |

Not only was Mamma Mia a great show, but the theatre is a charming old place that was great to go to. Get there early to park, but other than that it was wonderful. Not a bad seat in the place. Comfortable inside and very well kept up. Nothing bad to say about it. Also, lots of restaurants near by you can walk to.

Good Theater in the Suburbs

By DixiePa |

We have been to the Bucks County Playhouse twice and have enjoyed the performances. The riverfront property is attractive, and the new deck is a nice addition. We plan on seeing more shows there. The only drawback is parking.

In the Mood

By floss757 |

was one of the best shows I have seen.. Music of the 40s with the 13 piece orchestra and 6 multi talented singer/dancers who could not have been more entertaining. the director and producer as well as piano player gets kudoos for this wonderful production ..... so glad to have it performed at the newly opened and renovated Bucks County Playhouse to SOLD out appreciative audiences.

I had a blast!

By l0vetravelling82 |

I saw the "National Pastime" play and it was something I didn't expect from a sweet little historical town, story and actors are both brilliant! I enjoyed every second in New Hope as well as the play.

"the Nerd"

By DIANE PATTERSON |

I bought tickets on-line. And, the very next day, I received an email from TravelZoo.com offering discounted tickets. I requested a refund of the difference & I was told that they couldn't do that.

We were SO disappointed we spent good money on "premium" seats because the play was awful. Sooooo amateurish!!! Worse than a school play.

We are season subscribers @ the Bristol Riverside Theatre. At the BRT, the sets & the acting are far superior.

Great theatre venue

By filbysam |

Very well run live theatre. Set in beautiful New Hope PA the theatre is in a very picturesque part of town. The show started on time and anywhere you sit you have a good view of the stage. Parking is a little pricey, but you can stay and walk around town for the parking fee.

Loved the Deck Bar!!

By Gregg |

Didn't visit the Playhouse itself but their Deck Bar out back. We were in town from S. Florida and sitting out here looking at the river and the trees made both my fiancé and I wish we lived back up north; beautiful view. Drinks were great and reasonably priced. Deck was almost empty while we were there so service was awesome. We left just as intermission happened for whatever show they had going on but our server gave us a heads up and wanted to ensure he took care of us before because he knew they were about to get slammed with people.

Would definitely recommend the deck bar to anyone looking for a beautiful view and a break from the crowds.

Big Beautiful and Back from the Brink

By HeadstrongCamper |

The gut renovation and new production standards have put this icon of regional theatre back at center stage. I've been to several shows and it is always a pleasant, easy experience. Only major criticism is the $15 parking charge at the venue itself. Yes, this is an equity theatre, but we are not in midtown Manhattan and no real estate is this dear.

Million Dollar Quartet is a fun show in a great venue

By ladyright |

We enjoyed this show vey much. The actors are very talented musicians and the music is wonderful. The story is relayed in an interesting way and the actor who played Sam Phillips did a wonderful job. We were especially impressed with the piano playing of "Jerry Lee Lewis". The Bucks County Playhouse is a very comfortable venue and they do a great job with parking and moving the cars quickly after the show. We hope to see other shows here.

So glad the Playhouse is back!

By Nancy S |

We've lived here for over 20 years, and I'm sorry to say that we had never been to the Bucks County Playhouse. It was always "We'll go sometime", and then it washed away in the floods. But, now we have attended, and what a great time! We arrived early and had no trouble parking just outside the entrance. $10 to park. We decided to make it a 'date-night' and went to dinner in New Hope. (It's good to support the locals.) The play was top-notch, and I found myself singing (good songs), laughing (funny actors), and crying (photos of Rodgers and Hammerstein) throughout the night! I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. It's smaller than I imagined, but I still think that they are going to have a restroom issue once they start to sell-out. More are definitely needed. And, as if the dinner and play weren't enough, free fireworks at 9:30 pm every Friday night right behind the Playhouse! We can't wait until the next show!

Great Local Venue

By cherylpd1 |

We made a trip to the area for my husband's birthday recently and saw The Rat Pack. This show saw the front of the theater filled with a club like setting. I certainly understand why given the nature of the show, but many of the people immediately began to complain that they couldn't see from their seats, even before the show started. They were given the chance to relocate which was very generous of the staff. We enjoyed our seats, 2nd row, and overall the theater is very nice. A very tiny lobby with a few bathroom facilities. The outside cafe wasn't open the day we were there, but the delightful weather found us sitting outside anyway, both before and after the show. There is a parking lot right there, and we planned our trip to get there early enough to park. Good thing, as it filled up quickly! The parking rate was reasonable, especially for us, as we spent an entire day and part of the evening in the area. We would definitely see another show here.

Ideally located

By Dorothy S |

Our party of three had attended a play at the Playhouse on July 31st. 2016. Playhouse had been renovated and is centrally located in the city of New Hope Pa. Suggest using the $20.00 valet service since parking is at a premium in the town and you can stay parked at the theater at that price all day and enjoy the quaint shops and restaurants in the immediate area. THe theater itself has very close seating but the stage can be seen readily no matter where you sit. There is a small bar for refreshments and it also has an outside front patio shaded in case you arrive earlier. We have been there before and have enjoyed its convenience and performances and are already planning our next trip. New Hope is a great way to spend an entire day of exploring.

Fun and small

We saw a great show and were comfortable. The talent was exceptional and the staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful.

Rat Pack, Buddy Holly and Christmas Show

By Naturefreak |

We fell in love with this place. We were lucky several times because we rarely have a babysitter but lucked out a couple of times. Luckily, there were always a few extra seats left last minute. One time our sitter cancelled last minute and they even gave us a credit towards another show. That was amazing customer service. We appreciated that and know it's uncommon but was very much appreciated. We loved the little bar outback and enjoy all the shows we saw there, much more than the Princeton theater. We were surprised by that but also loved that it was closer and on the DE River. Several memoriable nights here in New Hope.

Been there forever...also great town to visit as well as good restaurants.

By Daniel Murphy |

a classic place for up and coming actors. good restaurants and a great town to browse and shop...a get away location with or without the theater....

HORRIBLE SERVICE AND STAFF

By Melissa J |

The staff was absolutely terrible. They were very rude! I do not recommend this place at all. Save your money and go someplace better!
