This is such a beautiful park! We rode our horses there and it was challenging but fun! Hikers, bikers and horses.

The last thing i expected in WACO was a deep forested park. This place is beautiful and has a zoo within the park. Rolling hills and lots of trees and green space make this an amazing place to kick back and relax, or go for a great bike ride.

We drove through much of the park before deciding where to stop and walk. There are some scenic lookouts, nice playgrounds, picnic areas, and a walking trail that you can take into downtown. It was a pleasant day weather-wise and nice to he able to get some exercise. Recommended!

Thanks to Waco Tours, we learned about this awesome trail. Jacob’s Ladder in Cameron Park will show up on your map. If you are up to it, you can climb the 88 steps. Then, follow the dirt trail along the river. It’s a great place to run or walk and there is plenty of shade. We chose to walk about 1.5 miles out before heading back on a warm morning. It is an amazing nature to have near Waco. Enjoy!

If you are planning a trip to Waco or passing through i suggest you make a stop by Cameron Park. There are so many miles of trails for the amateur hiker to the experienced. This park is located along the Brazos river so you can bring you canoe, kayak or motor boat. The park has a mountain terrain and offers great views so bring your camera. If your staying for more than a day you really must visit the Cameron Park zoo.

Driving around Waco and happened to find this large park. It was a cold day and a beautiful drive. It was my husband and my anniversary. Found lovers leap and anniversary park. Such a nice surprise! The views were so,pretty!

We stopped for two days so my wife could check out The Silos. We discovered that the park which borders the Brazos River is a great spot to stroll or do some serious hiking! Once you hike up the cliffs you're in a whole different world of silence and bamboo trails.Do yourself a favor and stop in Waco for 2 days.

Drive to the top and park. Enjoy the view up top and the Brazos river down below. Great park up top with restrooms and water fountains. Take a short or long hike down below along the Brazos river. Great place to spend 30 minutes or 3 hours!

Worth a visit. Loved the overlooks of the Brazos. Extremely well maintained. Great way to experience nature.

This place is an unexpected gem in Waco. It is much larger than one would expect and it is a lot of fun to go regardless of age. Definitely worth checking out!

What a special place right in the middle of Waco! Something for every age to include the Zoo, every level of hiking or biking trails, picnics, romantic walks, etc. Great bathrooms!

I hiked here and found it to be very beautiful and relaxing. Love the large bamboo. The sounds of the river are so serene. Lush green everywhere. Must try the Jacob's Ladder...wow! Very sore the next day.

I remember driving through the park in my youth. Cameron park has always had an air of mystery. Local legends range from tragedies to the spooky side of witches castle. While many have spent decades searching for this infamous landmark it still remains a mystery. While it may seem like local folklore and wishful thinking it is well the effort to cruise these hallow grounds.it's natural beauty ranges from our river front views, the zoo, picnic areas, trails, and our native bamboo groves. Go ahead and live on the wild side, you never know what you might see.

A beautiful park with lots to do...hiking, biking, fishing, disc golf, etc. My only complaint is parking is tight on the weekends. Check out Jacobs Ladder and Lovers Leap...both great photo ops.

The Brazos River and cliffs form a striking landscape, and the park trails are peaceful, if overly littered. Large homes fill the surrounding neighborhood.

Beautiful area! Calm peaceful and clean. Splash pad, play set, and lots of space for walks or picnics. Nothing beats the view a little further down where it it grass with the creek going threw. Breathtaking

This zoo is fantastic! It not only has great animals, it is very educational. My wife and I love coming to this zoo.

Unfortunately due to an injury, I was not able to do much walking. We drove around and saw beautiful sights. We sat high on a cliff and just looked at the river. Very relaxing with stunning views.

Beautiful drive along Cameron Park. Several nice spots for a good view over the Brazos River. Cameron Park is a great place to visit.

My husband and I spent the morning exploring the zoo and had a blast! The bulk of the animals were out and about even in this crazy Texas heat. The animals’ enclosures were nice and the scenery throughout the zoo was beautiful.

Nice place to visit a little bit of history which if you take the Waco Today will take you there and tell you about it

Driving from Dallas to Austin, we found this park which is just about halfway along the drive.
There are beautiful walking paths along a river, and a park with swings and slides for smaller kids.
Free parking with about 30 spaces and decent bathrooms.
Dogs are allowed on a leash, and in general, they were.
Some parts of the walking paths are paved and suitable for wheelchairs, some are dirt and will be too hard to push on.
We stayed about an hour and a half.
Lots of students from nearby Baylor run along the paths too.
Not an "important" place to go, but if you are looking for a pleasant place to stretch your legs in the middle of a long drive, this is the place.
Its just a few minutes off Route 35.

Came here to chill and enjoy a place with not so many people. Was a nice day and beautiful scenery. Nice to walk around.

What a gem for the nature lover! We hiked for a couple hours. Well marked trails and very good, easy hiking. Felt like we were not even in Texas at certain points! Beautiful!

Drove up the long winding road, stopping along the way until we reached Lovers Leap with pretty views of the Brazos River. Every town would love to have such a pretty spot.

Cameron Park has trails to hike or jog, and a nice view of the Brazos River. There areas with picnic tables, also. Great place to sit and watch the ducks on the river, or have a sandwich, or just relax.

The park has obviously gotten lots of attention by maintenance staff. It is clean and well maintained. Lots of activities taking place.

Great place to visit. It hugs the Brazos River and is home to the Cameron Park Zoo. Its easy to access from I-35.

We were really pleasantly surprised by the size and the peacefulness of this park near downtown Waco. We ended up hiking few miles through the park on different Trails. We found them all well-marked, and using Google Maps we could easily navigate them. Check out Lover's Leap eap, and Emmit's Cliff, and walked the ?? steps up Jacob's Ladder. As far as difficulty, we started out by going down a double Dymond, and would not recommend it for anybody who is not limber. It wasn't very long, but there were big steps down and it was very Rocky, and I imagine the Limestone would be slippery if it was wet out. It was a Sunday afternoon, warm and beautiful out, and almost nobody on the trails. In our several miles walk, we only encountered just a very few people. Being from Wisconsin, I was nervous about the snakes, but no one else seem to be concerned and little kids were allowed to wander off from their parents, and we saw people digging in the leaves besides the trail. If you like walking, and you like trails, and you like peacefulness, this is something that you should do.

Beautiful park that caresses the abrazos River! Don't miss Lover's Leap... A high cliff overlooking the river. Plenty of places for a nice family picnic. Frisbee golf course too.

Large "park" with cliff views of the Brazos river. Lots of walking trails. Nice to see . A good romantic trip.

For a beautiful scenic view of the Brazos River from up above the natural limestone cliffs, venture up the winding road to Lover's Leap in Cameron Park. It has picnic tables, benches, a great open grassy area nearby for dogs and/or kids to play in, a playground nearby, beautiful trees on the way up (lots of bamboo trees, but also some of the other beautiful native trees to the area), hiking trails, sidewalks and parking spaces. This truly is a hidden gem in Cameron Park. There are other parks on the way up worth stopping to enjoy as well. Enjoy the parks and views during daylight hours though. I wouldn't feel safe there after dark. I'm a long time local, too.

Jacob's Ladder was a challenge but great. Don't miss it. Nice children's park at top. Hiking trail with wildflowers across the street.

Cameron Park is a unique and amazing jewel in the crown of Waco!!!
It is awesome, natural, huge!
There are hiking trails of varying intensities, there is a river, pavilions of all sorts, scenic views, day camping/barbecue sites, wooded areas, areas to play, fields to run in and areas to rest.
There is a Frisbee course, and a children's play ground and a wet-splash area. A series of winding paved roads take you all through the park, most of the time under a canopy of trees.
The park was willed to the city by a prominent family, and the will specified that it would be free, and that no concessions would be sold. That's the only thing you have to remember- bring your own food and drinks.
My favorite? Jacob's ladder: an uneven, set of stone steps going up the cliff - from the river up to a large pavilion/picnic area on top of the cliff.
Wonderful park for families, couples, singles. bicyclists, walkers....everyone!

Cameron Park was a nice find in the city. We loved walking/running along the river just taking in the scenery.

This is an extensive park located along the river with lots of places to stop along the way. Make your way up to Lover's Leap. Have a picnic lunch at one of the many tables along the river. Enjoy the outdoors.

We've been here several times. It's got hiking trails plus picnic areas. Gives you room to spread out. There's a splash pad & a playground for the kids.

We love to visit Cameron Park, while visiting our daughter at Baylor. We would pack a lunch and head out for some hiking. Great place to get out and move and enjoy nature.

Husband and I spent 2 hours biking through the park. The trail has a variety paths and all are mostly shaded..which is great in July. We saw other cyclists, hikers and runner, but wasn't too crowded. Very enjoyably! Would not recommended past sunset.

Nicely laid out, with plenty of explanations of history, etc. Well maintained signage, toilets, views. Jacob's ladder and Lover's Leap well worth visiting. Free parking all along the way. All free entry.

This is the biggest park in Waco, with hundreds of visitors everyday this park stays clean and welcoming.. I come here when I need some peace, when I want a good work out, a good hike or to just walk my dog.. People are always friendly and courteous

We absolutely love driving through Cameron Park. It feels like you have gone to the mountains. We have never seen wildlife, but we always expect "something" to jump into view!

Beautiful park. Tons of walking, hiking, and biking trails. Highly recommend going to this park. Clean, well maintained.

Would you like to see an incredible view of Texas? Well, stop by Cameron Park.
The roads are gorgeous and lush. The view is stunning... our only negative was that we couldn’t spend more time there.
Take a picnic or a book and just enjoy the peaceful park.

This is a nice park right off of the Brazos River, great for bbq and just spending time, we had to visit lovers leap and take in the view.

Cameron Park sits at the confluence of the Bosque and Brazos rivers and includes 20 miles of trails at four hiking levels. We stopped below Emmons cliff, a high bluff of the Austin Chalk, eroded by the Bosque and Brazos rivers. Very amazing park to find in this size Texas city. I wish more other cities would follow this example!

We had visited the Cameron Park Zoo some time ago and didn't have time to visit the park. This is one of the best city parks in Texas, from the hiking trails to the scenic overlooks on the Brazos River, it has all you would like to have in a park. The picnic areas are expansive and there are plenty of restrooms and play areas. If you get a chance to make it to Waco make it a point to spend some time here....

We drove through the park and stopped at all the lookouts. It’s a beautiful drive. There is much to do but the weather was too cold for us. It would be a great place to hike, bike, picnic and play.

On a trip to the Fort Hood area, we ventured to Waco. Not knowing what was to be offered, we found ourselves at Cameron Lark. What a wonderful surprise! We all played and let off some travel steam for about an hour.
There are lots of attractions near by as well. We hope to make our way back soon to check out the zoo!

Cameron Park has so much to offer if you like to be outdoors.I enjoy walking along the river or hiking the trails up near Lover's Leap. The hiking trails are for all ages. Young and old alike can enjoy the well groomed trails in Cameron Park. You may even find a few trinkets along the way. The park is dog friendly, has playgrounds for the children, and has several restrooms and picnic areas. Frisby golf is a bid attraction in the park as well.

Huge green space in the city of Waco. Beautiful picnic areas with scenic sweeping views of the landscape and city along with hiking and biking trails,

Waco has done some great things along the Brazos River. Beautiful parks, trails, disc golf, sidewalks, picnic areas and the super cool Jacob's Ladder. I make a point to climb Jacob's ladder every time I pass through Waco, just because. It's tough to do, but I can still do it. Cannot recommend this park system enough.

I love Cameron Park. It is an oasis within the city of Waco and is made even more memorable by the easy-flowing Brazos River which runs through the park. To sit or stand along the bank and watch the river effortlessly flowing by is the essence of tranquility and serenity.
My wife and I visited on a warm Wednesday morning in July and had a wonderful time. There are walking and jogging paths and plenty of trees and picnic tables.
The citizens of Waco are very fortunate to have this park and the Brazos River. They are truly the heart of the city.

We love going here with our kids or just me and my spouse. There is a great park for the kids to play at. In the summer there is a splash park that the kids love. There are great walking trails for us to take as well.

Super cool city park in the middle of Waco! Beautiful picturesque locations and views. Great spot to getaway! GetSome!!

We visited on our way from Austin to Dallas. We arrived in Waco and read some about the scary things in Cameron park and decided to check out ourselves. I can say this park at night is very dark. We easily found Jacob's Ladder and took a few steps up but it is very steep and tough to do at night. We explored Lovers leap and found the whole experience a lot of fun. I'm sure this place is beautiful during the day. There are many ghost stories surrounding this park.

We absolutely loved this park. So many different areas and trails to explore. Jackobs ladder and lovers lane was our favorite of all of them. If your ever in Waco Cameron park is a must see.

So peaceful and so many trails. Highly recommend to just stop and visit because the views are worth it.

Beautiful park. Great walking trails. The best views of the Brazos River. Make sure you take some food for the ducks in pecan bottoms. There is a great splash park for the kids.

I love the greenery and bamboo all around the park as well as the river that runs by it. Go to lovers leap and read about the history, Jacob's ladder will get your thighs and buttocks worked out and ride your bike or walk the trails through the park. Great place for a pretty day. The water parks on the other side of Herring Bridge may not be the safest place to go during summer, unfortunately there are some people who don't want to share the area with others.

Beautiful river and park located near downtown. Food trucks nearby, so you can get some lunch and go to the park and relax. Spectacular bridge running over the Brazos river. Historic spot in regard to the cattle crossings.

It's like a normal park. You just go and hang out and do normal things that you would do at a park. Its a great place for picnics and family outings but other than that nothing too special.

Enjoyed a fantastic morning run through the park and along the river. Would love to have had more time to explore. It's absolutely stunning and a great treasure for Waco.

Cameron Park was highlighted as one of the places we wanted to go while staying in Waco. Our experience was mixed. We hiked some of the trails away from the Brazos River bank first. We were generally disappointed in the condition of the trails, the lack of interesting vegetation and especially no consistent trails signs or markings to determine which trail you were on!
We then decided to hike or more correctly, walk, the river trail. This trail was far more interesting. There were sandstone bluffs on one side and the river on the opposite side. The trail wandered, following the curves in the river. This trail was wide and flat which made for a leisurely walk. There were lots of people on this trail some walking, others jogging and some with dogs. The trail probably had more foot traffic than normal because it was Saturday and the weather was perfect to be outside.
We were unable to find any trail maps within the park. There are detailed trail maps at the Cameron Park website on the internet. We recommend printing out a location map and trail map if possible before visiting the park. There is NO charge for using this park.

My husband and I made the drive up to lover's leap and the view of the Brazos River was breathtaking!

I am a Waco native and Cameron Park still exceeds my expectations. Better patrolling would be appreciated especially on the river bike/walking trail.

Just a morning walk on my last day in Waco. I had wanted to walk along the river for a couple of days. I drove into the park and just took a short walk and really enjoyed the views and the park setting. It was all so clean and well maintained. A gem in Waco!

Cameron Park has always been a very beautiful place to drive thru, picnic and just relax. I understand that there are several hiking trails and other recreational activities.
It is just a very beautiful park setting and Waco is fortunate to have such a beauty in their downtown area. Stop by for a visit. You will enjoy!

Cameron Park is in the busy city of Waco but far enough away to have a place to relax and unwind. It can be hot in the summer, but still a nice place to enjoy the outdoors and have family time.

What a fun surprise to find this gem. We loved driving through the park, and I especially enjoyed all the overlooks.

I parked my car at Cameron Park and took a nice brisk walk along the walking and biking trails. I enjoyed the scenic view of the park. It has lots of foliage that is well maintained. I appreciated the nice clean restrooms at the park too. This is a great place for picnics, bike riders, joggers and walkers and the little kids will enjoy the playground equipment. There is also a Frisbee Golf Course at Cameron Park. I especially enjoyed walking along the Brazos River for most of my walk. Nice park! Enjoy!

This is a very nice place to hike, bike or run and it's free! Picnic areas are available. It does get kind of crowded by the afternoon on weekends. Well mapped. Free is always good when travelling.

This is an amazing Texas version of Central Park in New York. It has miles of walking trails, biking trails, picnic areas, a splash park and overlooks to view the river and cliffs.

There is a lot of history at the park. Pick your time of day to go, it is a public park. Many facilities throughout park for water and restrooms. Endless trails and spectacular views.

Several spots at this park are said to be haunted. Reading the legends online as we visited them was pretty cool. It is about a 15 minute drive outside the heart of waco. There are trails, playgrounds, fountains, bathrooms, and splash pads.

I stopped here for a while during a break inbetween meetings. A beautiful, quiet place to walk. Tall bamboo rustling in the breeze. The sound of the river. A great place to walk.

Cameron Park really was a hidden gem. I had read the reviews here and wanted to visit. When our Waco tour drove us through the park, I saw that it was even nicer than I had originally thought. First, there is a paved path along the river, the whole way along the road leading to the park. This is perfect was walking or jogging. The new edition is that they recently installed animal statues all along the path. Adds a nice, cute element; kind of like the animals are leading you to the zoo. The park is full of trails, some paved so more rugged. Lover's Leap is definitely a great spot to get a view of the surrounding area. Be sure to make this a stop. Jacob's Ladder is neat. There are 88 steps, most of differing heights-- some are quiet high. There are two different spots along the way to sit and rest. As long as you are steady on your feet, it's not too hard as long as you pace yourself and go slowly, resting as needed. Once you get to the top, unfortunately the majority of the view to the river and area below is blocked by the trees. Not as good of a view as I had expected. It was still neat to go up. This park is definitely a must see. There's lots of opportunity for jogging, hiking, biking riding, and letting the kids run around. There are also playgrounds.

When it comes to running terrain, this park just about has it all! From rocky to rooty hills to expansive straightaways alongside the river to totally shaded canopies to full-on water (if that's your sorta thing, lol). The view of the two rivers coming together @ the top of the cliffs is a pretty rewarding view to say the least. And has spots for BBQ & a playground for the kiddos as well. Just watch out for the "thorn grass" near the riverbanks, lol. It can make for a "sticky situation" rather quickly, lol. Thx Waco. I'll be back!

I had no idea such a beautiful park existed in Waco. It was a lovely drive through bamboo forests and thick vegetation. Lover's Leap had great views of the Brazos River. I would go there all the time if I lived in Waco.

Cameron Park is a pleasant place to hike, picnic, bicycle, drive, fish, and play. Facilities have grown over the years and are top-notch. They have pavilions for groups and picnic areas all over. Excellent views of the river from the top of Emmons Cliff.

Whether you are looking for a hike or just a stroll on pavement, this has the be one of the prettiest places in Waco. Even the roads are beautiful curves in the forest with trees all the way over the top. I would definitely recommend for Families, Couples, Friends, or just by yourself.

I thought that there was more hiking but eventually we drove to every view point and took some pics. But the views are really nice and it is good to be out of the city after visiting the crazy crowds at Magnolia Market.

Cameron Park borders the Brazos River and the terrain provides flat or undulating landscapes for a wide variety of activities. There are beautiful views of the River valley from several of the limestone cliffs in the park. The park offers great hiking, picnicking, on and off road biking, frisbee golf, playgrounds, maintained filed large enough for softball or soccer games. large pavillions for family or group outings. Public boat ramps are in-site across the river, and may be part of the park, but I am unsure of that detail. Easy access from interstate if travelers need a place to stretch their legs or burn some kid energy! Interesting facts about the park. It is the oldest city park in Texas and is the second largest city park in the USA.

Enjoyed visiting the park. Great views from the cliff side. Many areas to stop for a picnic or just enjoy the beautiful scenery.

If im not at work or home im ususally here riding some kind of bike! The road is twisting and steep and so are the trails. I learned to mountain bike here in the 90s moved to Az and rode in Co and Ut. For this far east and in town, you can't ask for better city park! Be Safe,Tim

From the weekend warrior to the professional mountain biker, there is something for everyone at this park.
Here is a link to the city page, which includes maps of the trails
http://www.waco-texas.com/cms-parksandrecreation/page.aspx?id=310
Great playgrounds for the kiddos, splash pads in the summer.
Today you will find bikers, runners, walkers, horse riders, families, disc golfers, Baylor students---all enjoying this hidden treasure.
I love to run the trails with my dog, take a picnic with the family, and just hang out here.
If you are a tourist, take the time in to visit the Cameron Park Zoo.
This park had a seedy reputation during the 80s and 90s, but the city and mounted patrols have really worked hard to make it a safe place.
Tip--If you really want to enjoy the trails, make sure to print off the map. If you get a little turned around, don't panic---they all lead to a major road or trail eventually---and we have found some of our favorites this way!

Fun place to experience a great afternoon whether biking, hiking, or riding in a car. Sights to see down by the Brazos river or look out over the area and see for miles around.

In October 2016, on a beautiful Texas day our family was visiting Waco, the Mammoth Site and Texas Ranger Museum.
We had driven down from Fort Worth, with family we were visiting and had a picnic at Circle Point, in a pavilion on the cliff over looking the river. I'm not sure if it is the Bosque or the Brazos
We spent about 1.5 hours, eating and walking around and enjoying the clear day and all the places in the distance that could be seen.
A great place to relax, have a picnic and just enjoy the outdoors

I was on a tour of Waco or might have otherwise missed this amazing park! It was simply beautiful with hills and a road that twisted and turned. There was a great lookout point onto the Brazos River! Don't miss the gem if you are in Waco! I'm not a hiker, but this almost made me want to become one! I believe our guide said there were over 20 hiking trails. I can only imagine the hikes would range in difficulty - due to the hills throughout the park.

Visited with Waco Tours. This park has amazing vistas, beautiful trails and plenty to see.
It is well maintained and carefully manicured.
Especially liked views from Lovers Leap.

I visited during Spring Break. The park is beautiful. It has playgrounds, hiking trails and places to sit and relax. The first place I saw was Lover's Lesp, which has a great view of the Brazos. This was my favorite spot. I took the Jacob's Ladder challenge, climbing both up & down the steps. Unfortunately, I did not stretch first and I pulled a muscle. The steps are uneven-a steep step could be right after a shallow step. Next time I visit, I'll bring a chair AND I'll stick to the trails for walking.

We love all the trees and plants on the property. Wish there were more animals and exhibits. Prices are high. We were done in 40 minutes, and that was stretching it out.

Have been here manby times and it is always and enjoyable place to take an afternoon stroll. A large variety of different animals from around the world. Small enough for children to easily walk the grounds. It keeps improving each year and if you live in the area and have not been here you should go

The park is a pretty spot inside the city. The winding roads and all of the green is a nice change of pace. Lover's Leap offers beautiful views of the area. Even if you don't have a lot of time, at least drive through the park.

We drove around this park but didn't get to walk on any trails. It's a beautiful park and we wish we had had more time to spend there. We did climb Jacob's Ladder! It was tough but we made it. Both in our 60's! Make sure to go here if you love the outdoors.

We visited this beautiful park as part of the Waco Tours Classic Waco Tour. If you don't do the tour, take the time to drive through this park and stop at Lover's Leap for a gorgeous view!

Wow such an awesome find!! Had no idea this place existed until Waco Tours told us about it. Very beautiful area. History is cool too.

Nice Park but Not as clean as I think it could be. There was trash and the facilities could have been cleaner.

This is a lovely oasis right in the middle of town great for walking bike riding kids have play areas ,there's lots of picnic areas a really good place to spend the day and it costs nothing so if you've got a few kids pack them up take a picnic and go

This is definitely worth doing. This park has a winding road thru it with many places to pull into small areas. Stop and get out of the car for a short walk to some wonderful views over the river at many of these stops. There is a Frisbee golf course, so bring some Frisbees and have some fun. Check out each of the areas in the park. Jacobs ladder is a lot of fun...just kidding. It is a set of stairs almost straight up. It was fun watching people go up and then come back down..huffing and puffing. This park would be a great place for an afternoon picnic or a place to just unwind. Lots of picnic tables and plenty of parking. There are hiking and biking trails everywhere. This is definitely a hidden treasure in Waco...especially for out of town visitors.

Cameron park is Beautiful! nestled right in the city, you feel like you have driven into a major state park. lots of great hiking and the river runs right along side of it. Lover Leap is not to be missed!

This was a beautiful drive we found by accident. I had no idea how far this drive went until we took it. This is definitely a hidden treasure that can be enjoyed by everyone. Highly recommend!

Beautiful, and peaceful park. Has everything you need. Grass, river, and quiet place for reflection.

most of the driving roads are far from the cliffs so you have to get out and hike for the best views. but those views are great.

Waco is under appreciated by most, but if you take the time to explore Cameron Park you will discover an entirely different aspect of Waco. There is much beauty to be appreciated.

This is a great place to hike, bike, walk your pet, picnic, or play frizbee golf. Trails are well maintained, some are paved. The scenery is exquisite, including limestone cliffs.

Cameron Park is absolutely one of the best things about Waco. It has something for everyone from disc golf to hiking to a splash park to biking to much more. Even just driving through the park is a great experience and something that everyone visiting Waco should do.

Beautiful park! Spectacular views from many locations in the park. Must climb Jacob's Ladder...fun steep climb. At the top is the "Old" country club. Lots of play grounds for children. Lovely drive through the park.

This was the perfect location for our Family Reunion. It was not that far from the ZOO and was adjacent to a very nice playground and a little splash park. There are also restrooms a few steps away and it sits right on the banks of the Brazos. There are huge shade trees and for the most part the facility is well maintained. There were enough tables to accommodate 40 people comfortably. Electricity is not available at this particular pavilion. Parking is ample nearby. The grounds are kept very nice. We reserved our space with the Waco Parks & Recreation. You pay a refundable deposit plus an hourly rate. We were told to take our paperwork with us and it is a good thing that we did because upon arriving someone had already set up for a birthday party. There was a large reserved sign strategically placed but that did not deter them from setting up. When I presented them with our paperwork to show proof that it was indeed reserved for us they simply said they always come out to the park and use the pavilions and did not know that you had to reserve them. They also said they saw the reserved sign but ignored it. They apologized and took everything down...if it had not been for us expecting 30 - 40 family members we would have shared it but it just would not work. All, in all it was a great experience and everyone appeared to have enjoyed themselves. Some walked over to the Zoo, while others walked up the stairs at Jacob's Ladder, the younger ones really enjoyed the playground to include the water park while others simply enjoyed sitting and watching the activities of the day. It was not overcrowded; it was the Saturday before Labor Day. Families where picnicking, fishing, throwing footballs, or simply taking a nice stroll and we even experienced some people with hula hops. As long as we have been visiting Waco we never knew about Cameron Park and all that it has to offer. Now that you know about it why not give it a try?

After dropping off my daughter on the move in day in August, I stayed in Waco for one more day just in case she needed my help. While she was busy with the orientation, I went to check out this Cameron Park. It is indeed a very beautiful park. There are so many hiking trails with different level of difficulty, many of them are quite challenging . The view of Brazos river from different vantage is very scenic. Jacob Ladder is quite interesting, I did climb it up and down. This place is highly recommended for the scenic beauty and hiking trails.

This is a large, multi-faceted park along the Brazos River! It has picnic and playground areas, and also great wilderness hiking. The 15 plus miles of bike trails are wonderful - some paved, some dirt. It is amazing to have this natural beauty so close to the city. You walk, hike, bike or just sit and enjoy the many overlooks!

What a gorgeous place! Tons of hiking trails with lush plants and the brazos river! A cliff and lovers leep. All nature love will definitely want to visit this park!

Cameron Park has so much. Playgrounds, pavilions, walking/hiking/biking trails, great views, disc golf. We love taking our family and enjoying nature!!

Went to Cameron Park on a tour. Its a really nice park and the view from the top is beautiful! A nice surprise Waco has to offer

Beautiful park/drive and beautiful views. So clean and pleasant. Enjoyed the tour. Take a tour with the service offered and get the scoop

Cameron Park was a wonderful surprise for my family. There was so much to see and do, peaceful and beautiful. We enjoyed it so much that we visited it several times during our trip to Waco.

Our son is looking forward to biking and disc golf there. Beautiful drive and great views.A nice surprise in Waco.

We didn't really know it exsisted, we drove by and decided to check it out. It was just beautiful. Lots of trails, interesting pull-outs for the driving folks. The views are spectacular. We explored for one afternoon, we could certainly do more. Well worth the time to check it out.

Been to a ton of parks all over and this one is right at the top. We hiked close to 12 miles in two days and still did not cover every trail. It is a maze of trials from simple to pretty strenuous. Get a map and its easy to get around, I printed one online. The lower river trail was packed, but after climbing up into the hill trails we encountered little to no people. I would highly recommend going here to hike, bike, or just relax!.

I enjoyed getting lost in the trails here. It was peacefully therapeutic. You have to climb Jacob's Ladder.

I love this park. I enjoyed driving through it and stopping at the multiple stops to enjoy different views, and getting a serious leg workout at Jacob's Ladder. If in Waco, this is a must see.

Emmons Cliff, Lovers Leap and the whole nine yards just acres and acres of beauty. All 400 acres plus is a thing of beauty. In my youth there were not any restraints at places like Lovers Leap and we did some very crazy things in the park.

A gift to the city of Waco in 1910 , Cameron Park in Waco , has been a weel tended treasure in Waco for more than 100 years. The 416 acres of scenic land can provide fruitful entertainment from the solo bike enthusiasts, the couple hiking or the entire family outing!Lover's leap , 90 feet above the Bosque River , offers a magnificent view of the land . Jacob's Ladder presents a 100 step climb up a zig-zagged stairwell that is one of the favorite adventures. There are children's playgrounds ( Pecan Bottoms ) , wildflower gardens ( Miss Nellie's Pretty Place ), picnic tables & pavillions, restrooms & water fountains...... all available free for enjoyment !

a very exciting place to visit, ride your bic or just run or jog around. paved walks along the river

Beautiful park with many areas for everyone. Lots of trees and brush with hiking, and running areas.

Cameron Park doesn't have much to offer to tourists like we were, but it is an expansive park with many sections to it. The local residents must love it 5 stars worth

When your planning a quiet day in the majesty of God's creation, you have to consider a tour through Cameron Park. The scenery is spectacular and such a adventure to hike, ride bikes or jog through. Picture perfect landscapes with plenty of areas to have family fun, reunions or read a book and much more depending on your imagination. Pavilion's and for larger facility the Cameron Park Clubhouse has an awesome mansion, grounds and play areas for outdoor events. Feeling energetic with lots of stamina... then Jacob's Ladder is right outside this location. But bare in mind the steps to Jacob's Ladder are steep and will give you a work out going down and back up. There are plenty winding roads and bike trails for the site seer in you. The views from Emmons Cliff and Lovers Leap is something you just have to see. Elevated over 100 feet from the Brazos River you can see over 20 miles on a clear day. If you get bored there try the Cameron Park Zoo which is just outside park ground on 4th street. Like picking pecans for homemade pies or just to snack on then Cameron Park is the place to be. Can I go on writing about the park. YUP! But then that is what my kids say is "TMI!"

Incredible park right in the middle of the city, along the bravos river.. Gorgeous views, bluffs, meadows, tons of trails, could've spent all day there!

We visited to take a morning hike before it got too hot outside. Lots of (rough) trails crisscrossing the wooded areas and a well-traveled trail along the river. Good place for a scenic hike.

Been to this park several times and each time we discover something new! It's quite extensive running alongside and above the south side of the Brazos river. There are lots of different parking areas, some quite small. If the spaces are full just drive on and they'll be another parking area just around the corner! Thick trees and bushes along the way with multiple natural trails through them to hike along. The Cameron Park Zoo is located here ad well. The day we were there, the Baylor college rowing teams were practicing along the river....beautiful to watch!

Cameron Park has amazing hiking/biking trails. If you have exercised in a while, you'll definitely feel it the next morning after a good hike. The terrain can be a little rough, but it is well maintained. There are many different parks, views, and trails to explore. Definitely not something you can see in just one visit.

The purpose to be there not good as was a memorial but the setting was lovely, peaceful and where the couple married, so aside from honoring the death of nephew was really lovely.

There are times when I wouldn't go to the park. The first is at night. I am local and don't feel that safe at night. The other is alone. If I were part of a larger group, it would be ok. The trails are so much fun to explore. This place has true beauty. There are trails that run by the river or through the woods. There is a Clubhouse where weddings and receptions are held. There is a wildflower garden. The size of the park is almost overwhelming. The zoo is located nearby as well.

My husband and I went here to spend a gorgeous Saturday afternoon. It's a big area. We were able to picnic by the water and watch the kayakers and kids and dogs playing Frisbee. I would love to have this closer to me at home.

Lots of trails and things to do within the park. We hiked several trails, which at times were confusing. Also did Jacob's Ladder. Didn't visit the zoo but which we could have.

Who would have thought that a park like this is just minutes from downtown. This park offers picnicking, hiking, biking, and horseback riding if you bring your own horse! The city has recently completed a massive improvement project. New restroom facilities and additional parking a plus. Let's not forget Cameron Park Zoo, always a favorite. The setting along the river is just breath taking, no matter where you are viewing it from there is something different to see. Plenty of shade for the adults and swings for the kids. This is truly a place that Waco can be proud of.

Kids love the playground, hiking trails. Needs more picnic tables. Needs more benches around the playgrounds for parents to sit and watch their kids. Multiracial area. Need to watch your kids as they interact with others to prevent fights, particularly in the water feature area. Issues have occurred on a number of visits.

Spent a little time checking out the river walk and suspension bridge. There was no issues trying to find parking. Lots of trees and shade, a good way to spend a couple of hours checking out the river and parks.

Loved this park! Lots of great hiking, there are trails for different levels of difficulty. Beautiful trail along the water. Dog friendly. Be mindful of frisbees while around the disc golf course!

Cameron Park offers an extensive list of activities:
- Mountain Biking: There are over 15 miles of trails rated from green to double black diamond (similar to skiing). I'm a novice mountain biker, so I haven't ventured past some of the tamer blue diamond trails.
- Hiking: Choose your adventure. There's everything from the river trail along the banks of the Bosque to the steeper trails that lead up to the cliff's 100-ft above.
- Parks: There are a number of pavilions where you can meet up with friends and grill. There are also several playgrounds to bring the young ones to.
- Scenic Locations: The drive through the park is stunning with a number of scenic waypoints (Mouth of the Bosque, Emmons Cliff, Lovers Leap).
One word of caution: This IS a city park, so act accordingly... don't go alone or after dark, and mind your surroundings.

Beautiful area. Came thru on tour bus with a step on guide and was awed. Roads are enclosed with tree canopies and bamboo. Stopped at overlook named "lover's leap" , cute story. Great view over Brazos river. Clean bathrooms. Wish would have had more time to explore trails. What a nice attraction for Waco to enjoy.

Large park, clean, plenty of shaded trails, near the river, Jacob's Ladder a must-do! Felt safe & secure.

I love driving thru the heavily wooded areas. Their pristine beauty reminds me of
some places in Central America. Likewise driving along the river is very peaceful.
The shelters there are perfect for outings...the meadows even are terrific for frisbee or picnics. We are so blessed to have this beautiful place to visit daily.

Great park. Many picnic areas and trails. Way too many snakes though. Looking for a Challege, make sure you do Jacobs Ladder.

Cameron Park has so much to explore, great for hikes and mountain bikes. The confluence of the Bosque and Brazos Rivers is a sight to see. Don't miss Lovers Leap, and Emmons Cliff. The Zoo is nearby as well.

We visited Cameron Park on our Classic City Tour by Waco Tour Company. It is huge but has a lot of history and beauty to it. We stopped at Lover's Leap and learned about the legendary story. It overlooks the Brazos river which is really pretty. We definitely recommend a visit to this park!

A nice park with a river running through it. There are cliffs on one end of the park and water recreation in the middle. At the other end of the park lies downtown Waco. (FYI, Waco had nothing to do with the Branch Davidian siege. That happened about 15 miles east of Waco.)

We enjoyed walking by the river . Sitting by the river was nice . It was a busy , happy place . Lots of fun choices.

This is a big park with a variety of things to do and varied terrain. It's great for hiking, biking and horseback riding as well as just sharing a picnic lunch with your family. There are plenty of playground areas scattered throughout as well as picnic tables-many by the water. The park is located ont he river's edge and even has a splash park area for the kids in the summer time.

We stopped at Cameron Park on our Waco Tour. We were pleasantly surprised how beautiful the views were from park. It is worth the drive to the Park!!

Cameron park has wet through some very nice renovation over the past several years and is a beautiful park would be proud to share this park with others that come to waco to visit.

So much to see and do. Lovely views. Perfect for strolls, hiking, jogging, running, bicycling, taking your dog for a walk, having a picnic, etc. Just gorgeous!

and wouldn't have without the bus tour that Waco had this magnificent park and ZOO! We didn't go to the zoo so can't say anything more then it does exist. But this park is huge. hilly and contains miles of hiking trails. I'm going back just to hike!!! We saw Lovers Leap where an Idian Couple is said to have leaped together from the cliff into the BOsque River because the female's Indian chief father picked another man for her to wed and refused to let her marry her true love Running Bear. This park again was a giant full of hills and trails. Very surprised to see this park.

There isn't another park in Texas that rivals the size or the amount of shade available at Cameron Park. Playgrounds for children with water fountain to play in, miles of trails for bikes, running, etc. the wooded area provides a canopy from the direct sun, but you're still in Texas and in August it's still rivaling 100° outside. The walkway along the Brazos River is scenic but the water is not for swimming and it's a drop off into the water 95% of the path. The zoo is also within the overall parks footprint. Close to several delicious places to eat, just down the road from the University Place and Twisted Root Burger Co. That's a must try!

No matter if you're a runner, or cyclist, or just want to hang out with the kids and family to enjoy the day. Cameron Park doesn't disappoint.

We ended our Waco trip by coming here. We stopped at all of the interest points. Lovers Leap was beautiful. Jacob's Ladder was intense, but a must. Very calm and relaxing park to visit.

This park was beautiful!! I've never been a hiker, so this was a first for me, and I must say a great place for a first time trip. There are numerous areas of this very large park. We started in the mouth of Bosque area and hiked back down to the first part of the park by the river. When we got to the end we started walking by the main road to another area, but got a little lost. We were headed in one direction when this couple came by and walked us back to the area we needed to be in. After getting back to our truck we drive down to lovers leap, it was spectacular!! I had no idea Waco was this beautiful!! You could see for 10+ miles from that part of the park. Amazing!!!

I went here with a group for an outdoor picnic and the park has many positive sides. The park itself is not far from downtown Waco or campus, so the drive is very do able. The picnic tables were clean and the nearby facilities are also kept in shape, but there was no soap when I went there. There is much shade, so even during midday there are places to keep cool. I recommend this park - great place to go outdoors and exercise a bit.

Amazing park with lots of hiking and biking trails of all levels. Beautiful scenery and view of the rivers

It's a large park so it's easy to socially distance and still have a good time! Nice, clean playgrounds and plenty of picnic tables and places to hang out. Lots of shade!

Enjoy the sights and beautiful Waco, overlooking the river and area parks. Nice stop, for water and clean restrooms

We only we went thru sections of the park and saw the views. Very nice and quiet. Views were awesome. We want to go back and take some of the trails and do some bird watching. Lots of green space so this would be a great place to do this.

Not a huge place. You can see it all in a relatively short time, so it won't wear you out. They have a variety of critters. I've never seen whitetail deer in a zoo before this visit. Probably one of the most curious things is the hundreds of vultures that hang around everywhere.

My wife and I were visiting Waco for Baylor homecoming when she decided to surprise me with a morning of hiking. I had only driven by Waco on the way up to Dallas, so I wasn't expecting much.
I was surprised and elated by the Brazos River and the expansive trail system offered by Cameron Park. The park includes plenty of pavilions for picnicking, playground areas for kids, ramps for boats/kayaks to enter the Brazos, and miles of trails accommodating runner/hikers, mountain bikers (with rated trails), and horseback riders.
The park has signage posted frequently around the park that provides helpful maps of the park and trails and also gives short explanations of the history of the area and the significance of the trails. I'm a bit of a history buff, so I really enjoyed reading and learning more about the park and the development of the area.
We started the day climbing Jacob's Ladder, a short flight of stairs going from the river up to the club house on the upper ridge. I confidently surged up the stairs full pace trying to set a new record, only to stop 75% of the way up with burning quads and glutes. I walked the rest of the way and enjoyed the little side trip.
The rest of the morning we hiked the trail along the river and relished the lovely fall weather, the peaceful beauty of the river, and the chatter of friendly squirrels along the way.

We drove all throughout the park and stopped at all of the overlooks and side roads. This park is quite large at 400 acres. It is hilly and very forested and has windy roads. Some of the overlooks show the Brazos or Bosque River and panoramic views toward downtown. There are many trails as well as picnic spots too.

Make sure you go all the way to the top on Cameron Park and visit "Lovers Leap" it is named after a couple who we're both from different Indian Tribes and were not aloud to see each other. They pulled a romeo and juliet and leaped to their death so they could be together forever. <3 Giving the cliff its name.

AS you know from our posts we have been all across the United State and the World and I have to say that Cameron Park surprised us.
If you are an outdoor activity buff (hiking, running, biking, mountain biking, walking, picnics, etc.) what a beautiful park.
Well maintained. Numerous picnic and bbq areas. Mountain bike trails and overall large and beautiful.
Even if you don't want to partake in any physical activities it is worth driving through!

Many great hiking trails and views of the region and the Brazos River. The Zoo is in the park and lots of food and drink nearby in downtown. Many cant believe they are in Waco. High cliffs and bluffs and even a bamboo forest. New things to see around every turn.

We love visiting Waco, and always make time to go through Cameron Park. Great for walk, a trip to the Cameron Park Zoo, or just admiring the sculptures along the way. Great way to relax after a long day.

Excellent facility, a tremendous amount of variety in trails for different ability levels. When we were there saw a few cyclists. but not a ton. Took up a while to catch on to how trails were marked, and I think some of the signs were gone or obscured, but on the whole, it was pretty easy to navigate such an enormous trail system. Spent and entire day exploring the trails from top to bottom, left dirty, exhausted and happy. Bring a waterbottle, plenty of fountains for refills. Beautiful views and challenging trails will make for a great day!

Such a great place for outdoor activity. In my opinion it makes you feel like you are not even in Waco, let alone Texas. Lovely place to go for a drive. Beautiful scenery.

We went on this drive at the end of the day of walking the riverwalk. So we just drove thru it. There are many places to stop and go exploring, but were too tired to engage.

Nice park to spend some quite time. Nice tree lined drive with open pull outs. Perfect for a city park

I loved Cameron Park-it was beautiful! It reminded me of the places where I used to hike when I lived in Nashville and Chattanooga, TN. I loved the fact that it was in Waco and that it was easy to find. There are many trails to choose from, and the park is small enough to where you can't get lost on the trails. Absolutely loved the park!

Have always loved going to Cameron Park, lots to do on your own are in a group. Very large park, has a zoo and many other attractions.

We went to Cameron Park while visiting the area. We thought the walkway along the river was really nice, along with all of the statues. We climbed Jacob’s Ladder and drove to Lover’s Leap. The overlook was beautiful. Lots of people were picnicing and grilling all throughout the park.

Cameron Park is a beautiful place to sight see, hike, ride bikes, have picnics, and anything else you would want to do!!! The banks of the Brazos River borders along the park and there are walking trails along the river.

A great detour, that takes five minutes longer for me to get downtown to the office. Well worth it, particularly when the sun is coming up. Peaceful drive of several miles, usually passing one or two cars or one or two joggers, until you get along side the Brazos River. Truly spectacular, as the sun comes up. A peaceful way to start the morning.

Whether its a place to play flag football, host birthday picnics, or go for a drive, you can count on Cameron Park to host your next Waco adventure. Not only does the park offer all of the necessities (a playground, walking trail, and picnic tables), but it also has countless hiking and biking trails. You can always find the fitness enthusiasts running along the trails or taking their dog for a walk, creating a family-friendly atmosphere. The bugs may become a little obnoxious, but the views are worth the sacrifice of comfort. If you are searching for a more relaxed trip, the winding roads offer beautiful views of the Brazos. Each trip to Cameron Park offers new discoveries and countless more memories to be made!

The story of how the park became is cool, along with the Lovers Leap story. Clean and serene looks down on the river, runs along the river. Great place to hike, nap, picnic.

Beautiful and well taken care of park. There are a lot of hiking trails and places to look at the river. Make sure and remember where you park because it is a little confusing.

Our Waco visit consisted of Baylor, Magnolia, and the Dr. Pepper museum. These were all in the Waco downtown area, which we enjoyed. Not far from these location is Cameron Park, which provides great walking/running and biking trails, while enjoying some beautiful scenery.

a view and up front experience of the bravos river, which flows through waco on its way to the gulf of mexico, a slice of central texas, take in the experience, then get immersed in the waco culture, eating, etc.

I saw this park while on a tour of Waco. Absolutely beautiful park for hiking, picnics and just taking in nature. Lovers Leap has a beautiful view of the Bosque River. Jacob's Ladder is also a must see. Great panoramic views.

My husband and I have ridden the trails of Cameron Park since the days when Tailwind and others were beginning to invest in maintaining those mountain bike pathways. That's why I call this place a true GEM! Yes, people know they can fish, grill and just hang out here, but outdoor enthusiasts are missing out if they don't venture into the easy-to-difficult hiking and biking trails. Park near Jabcob's Ladder and hit the simpler Riverside trail. Start at Baylor or the Suspension Bridge and venture some 5+ miles all the way to MCC. Try your hand at the disc golf course (start at Redwood Shelter; bring water, bug spray and a couple of discs). Hit Jacob's Ladder for a serious leg workout. Take the kids to the water play area near below the Herring Bridge at Pecan Bottoms. Grab your reel, hammock, family, friends and pets, and just explore and make Cameron Park your own. Drive the winding roads with a "scary storyeller" in tow; there are plenty of creepy places and folklore to keep you in chills! Just please PLEASE pick up your trash; if you gotta pee, do so off the beaten trails; and keep those pets on a leash. Also be a mindful trail user... there are horses in Cameron Park, speeding bikers, and small kids, too. Keep it fun and safe for everyone. An awesome place to spend some time!

Plenty of things to see and places to go walking . River views were great.
A lot of history to take in.

We visited the park on a tour with Waco Tours. This place is absolutely a must see. It's huge and has a ton of options to relax for an afternoon, spend the day hanging out, or a week of biking fun.

I drove around first to get a feel of how expansive the property was. I stopped at Lovers Leap. Beautiful scenery but I hate heights so I was a bit timid about going to the edge of the cliff. I would definitely go again and walk around the park.

This is a great place to get away from stresses of driving or daily life. There are many mini little park areas throughout this park. Hiking trails, mountain bike trails are in abundance as well. Several places to stop are Lover's Leap for the view and walking up Jacob's Ladder (steps). You can also place frisbee golf along the river banks. Cameron Park is definitely a positive for Waco! Well worth taking some time here to enjoy nature.

Very nice park that spans over several miles. Very pretty and is close to the Brazos River. Would recommend for anyone.

Cameron Park is beautiful! It has many different trails for hiking and bicycling, as well as different levels of difficulty to choose from. Another thing we love about Cameron Park is the disk golf course. It goes all throughout the park and the scenery is gorgeous. This is a must visit when you visit Waco!

Cameron Park is incredible. Having lived in Waco for the past few years, it is wonderful having the second largest city park in the country right by downtown. Cameron park is wonderful for hiking, with several different trails of varying intensity through the hills. It also has numerous clearings that are perfect for barbecues or athletic events such as ultimate frisbee or soccer. The most striking feature is by far the cliffs that run alongside the Brazos River that cuts through the park. I would definitely recommend watching either the sunset or sunrise on one of the cliffs. During the day, the park is very active. My only reservation is that the park is notorious for not being the safest after dark - a time when locals tend to avoid it.

Great hiking, bicycling, running, walking and/or talking in a beautiful atmosphere looking over the river or in a special shady spot --- go the that special place and ask that special person in your life to marry you!!!!! Don't forget the picnic basket.

When we were at the Mammoth National Monument the guide told us that Cameron Park was the second largest city park in the country (next to Central Park) so we had to visit We ended up making two trips here because it is so big. We didn't have as much time to walk that many trails and there are tons of trails. They even have them rated by ease or difficulty. The views in some areas are spectacular. Plenty of places for a picnic. We mentioned that we could eat at a different picnic spot everyday for a year it seems.

Cameron park and Lovers Leap is a must see in Waco, TX . There are many trials and lots of scenery. Beautiful.

Beautifully serene. Lush green space! Due to the recent rains, both the Brazos & Bosque rivers were up and completely filled their channels which only enhanced the absolute beauty of Cameron Park's verdant 416 acres. Enchanting place, over a century old with many hidden gems that urge you on to explore!

Went to Waco specifically to experience Cameron Park one of the highest rated Texas parks for hiking. No disappointment on the trails. Park is well laid out with great elevations, views, and a difficulty level for all. Did see a lot of trash however. Don't know why folks litter, it's so unnecessary.

There are several picnic tables and a nice playground. The bathrooms are not the greatest, but that is the only issue. The grounds themselves are clean and there is lots of shade, trees, etc. In the warmer weather there are water fountains going that the kids can splash in.

This park is simply beautiful, I loved every part of it. Breathtaking!!! Waco is a very poor looking city so going to this park was like going into a different world.

We spent the morning in the park - very nice and clean - walking and meeting Tim at the fountain - he was very friendly and gave us the quick info on the park. If you have two-three hours to spend outdoors - I highly recommend visiting the different locations in the park - all the views are amazing!

Do you like to walk along a river, among trees, along rocky paths? All are available in this great urban park in Waco, TX. Great mountain bike trails too!! History and legends are connected to certain sites in the park and of course the wonderful zoo is within its boundaries. Frisbee golf fan? Horshoes fan? These are available too. Still I like hiking or just strolling along the river. A great peaceful experience everytime. With the great weather in Waco, it is doable every month of the year.

We drove through this park while on the Waco Tour. It is the largest park either of us has ever seen, and it is truly beautiful. It has tons of trails in it, if you want to take a walk, hike or do some serious mountain-biking (yes, they have very difficult biking trails!). The river runs right through the park, which adds to its beauty. Pretty place for a drive or walk!

Beautiful area to take a walk and enjoy the river and outdoors. It is an asset for the people of Waco.

For anyone looking for a good place to play disc golf Cameron park is the place to go. It is always clean and the course poses a challenge. My husband and I go and play with friend and it always entertains us for hours! I would invite anyone out for a game or just to enjoy the surroundings it is such a wonderful place to spend the day away.

Walking through the park and visiting Lover's leap. It is a beautiful place to relax and take in some of Texas' beautiful scenerary! Then if you want to go to the zoo it is right there.

Wonderful drive through Cameron Park, several roads within the Park each offering a different beauty. I have gone though this Park several times, enjoying the senerity and beauty it has to offer!

No matter what you like to do Cameron Park has you covered frisbee golf mountain bike trails hike trails even a picnic by the banks of the Brazos River bring your family, playgrounds everything and anything to do if you like the outdoors

Nice paved walkway between the suspension bridge and Cameron Zoo. There is a kids water feature in the park just inside the entry marquee; Frisbee golf course nearby.
Note-there is limited parking at the waterpark-maybe 20 spaces, and all were occupied. You might want to use the cut out parking curbside before you get to the entrance.

Where do I start?! From the tree lined drive to the breath taking views. This is a must for any nature lover. Hike, bike, horse ride the park is HUGE! The view from Lovers Leap is stunning you can see the whole valley on a clear day. It's free and a must stop and see if you are in Waco.

This park is spread out and we drove around endlessly looking for certain attractions int he park. But in doing so we got to see areas we might not have otherwise seen. Once inside of the park you seem far away from the noise of the town. There are several picnic areas with assorted playgrounds and of course the zoo and the river, hiking trails and an array of areas to relax and take nature in. If you want to get away for some quiet you need to visit here. If you have kiddos that need to run and get the energy out then put this place on your itinerary. We found it to be well maintained.

It is quite a large park with lots of options for trails. However, the trails are barely marked at all (I think they almost all come back around so it'd probably be hard to get lost), and there was quite a bit of trash along the main walking/running trail down by the river. The view from on top of the rocks at the river was beautiful and their structures and focal points are nice. For someone who loves trails and hiking, none of the trails made me break a sweat.

Our Waco tour included a tour of this large lush park. We stopped twice to get out and check out Lover's Leap and then to get a can of soda from our tour guides.

We stopped at the Lovers Leap and enjoyed the view. It is a wonderful drive through the park and some of the stopping points are worth the visit. Free and a delight...we saw several trails that could be taken although we on a little outing so we didn't stop to see ALL that was offered.

The park is a must see when visiting Waco. It is right on the river with great views and hills. Bike rides are fun but the hills can be treacherous. Stay on the trail along the river all the way to the Baylor campus. They also have trail walks with park rangers that are very interesting.

Cameron Park is a wonderful place to spend the day. A wooded retreat in the city. In addition to grassy parks, playgrounds, and picnic shelters scattered throughout the park, there are dozens of trails looping through the woods and along the river's edge.

Functional Beauty! Great views and tons of trails to explore. One of our tour guides had told us he did it 10 times, so of course we had to do it, too :)

Trails were superb. The climbs were challenging at times, but that's what makes it so great. Pretty quick as well, make sure you've got the brakes tight. The entire park was well-maintained. I hope to come back again soon.

My 12 year old daughter and I came here to enjoy a quick view of the Brazos river from the lookout at Lovers Leap park. We ended up hiking around the trails for over 4 hours. A park ranger gave us a map, and we explored all we could. Loved it, and will be back for more hiking next year here!!

My friends and I took The Waco Tour! One fabulous surprise for me was the greenery and curves going into Cameron Park! The tour took us to the top known as Lovers Leap. The view of the Brazos River was absolutely beautiful! I did not know such an area existed in Waco! Wow!

We spent a couple days hiking the trails within Cameron Park. I would highly recommend climbing Jacob's Ladder, for those of you that are into fitness. It is a fantastic workout! There is so much to see in this park.

I explored this park via the Waco Tours, they shared a lot of information about the park, local history and 'Lover's Leap' The views were amazing and the park was really beautiful.

Want a large river that people boat on? Has it. What lots of shady walking/biking trails? Check. What dramatic Lover's Leap cliffs and views? Yup, that too. Lots of pavillions and picnic tables in drop dead gorgeous areas? Has it. Can't believe it is soo close to downtown Waco. It feels like you have parachuted down into a piece of nature's heaven.

If you live in Waco and are near Cameron Park, you have no excuse for being out of shape. This place is a lovely place to walk, feed the ducks, sun, whatever. It's also a great place to take the kids to play and to have a picnic. Go visit soon.

Great trails that are well marked. We hiked with our 8 month old granddaughter in tow and the green and blue trails were wonderful.

Cameron Park is a true jewel in Waco with its location along the river and the many mountain biking and hiking trails. Also spots to picnic or overlook the river!

Wow! What an unexpected great park in Waco. We hiked several of the trails, checked out many of the park's attractions and came away truly impressed. The park was clean and well maintained. Really a great place to visit!

Beautiful place to visit. Lots of history all tucked away in a very peaceful setting. A must visit!!

This is a stunning park. It's pretty, good for running, and seems far away from town, even though it's only a couple of miles. I recommend it!

If you have limited time in Waco and you’re here to gorge on all things “Chip & Jo”— I’m not sure I’d suggest making a specific trip to Cameron Park. But— if you’ve done all thing Magnolia and are running out of Waco destinations, visiting the park is pretty cool. You’ll find a beautiful view from Lover’s Leap, a zoo, a bamboo forest... A great escape on a beautiful day.

Cameron is a diamond in disguise. After having driven across it on the overpass numerous times with family, on a hunch, we decided to stop and see what it was like on the ground. Wow, were we shocked at the beauty and size of this huge park.. It's not circular but instead has many tentacles. It is beautiful and well-maintained. I didn't see any security or police yet never felt unsafe nor saw any unsavory looking characters.
There are playgrounds and water-pads for the children in different locations of the park, a pedestrian bridge to walk across the river, a restaurant on one bank of the river, a few picnic areas, gazebos, and numerous woods walking trails. If you have the heart and legs for it, walk up Jacob's Ladder, which is a steep, steep, paved but uneven staircase that goes up very sharply. It's surrounded by tall greenery and has a small seating area about half way up, should you need to catch your breath before continuing. This is really a wonderful area and a gold star for the city of Waco.

Cameron Park has to be one of the largest city parks I have ever seen. The cliffs and lookout points such as Lovers Leap, Circle point and Emmons Cliff. There are also other beautiful spots such as Miss Nellies Pretty Place, Aniversary Park and Jacobs Ladder to name just a few. There are play areas in multiple locations with water features such as misters for those hot Texas days. With miles of hiking biking and horse riding trails you will find something for everyone, even those like me who just want to be lazy in the shade under a giant tree.

We live about an hour away and come several times a year. The zoo is well maintained. It is a cofortable size and the kids don't get overly tired. In addition to the animals, they enjoy the "otter slide", a plexiglass slide that goes through the otter swimming hole, and the playground area.

We took our three young boys on some of the easier trails (a couple of the intermediate), and they did great. They are 3, 2, and 3 months (I wore him). We obviously didn’t go very fast, but it was very enjoyable, and the boys kept begging to go again. It’s worth it to look up the trail map to plan some trails if you’re going with young kids. I love that it can take as long or as short as you want. It was a great spot to get away in the middle of the city!

A very quaint park that offers many different hiking trails as well as playground and picnic shelters. We went up Jacobs ladder and our legs hurt the next day. Not much once you get to the top, but still one that you have to do.

We drove through and stopped in the park on a tour. We learned about the story behind Lover's Leap, also found out why there is so much bamboo at the park. A great place to stop.

very nice place just to hang out, trails, water sidewalks, zoo close by, nice place for all to just hang out

Even though it was a hot July day we didn't really have a problem with the heat. It is well shaded throughout and they also break it up with some indoor sites with AC. The animals are close enough you can see them even if is hot and they are not all that active. Had a 2 and a 4 year old and they enjoyed it. They also have a playground/small splash pad that helps beat the heat if you plan for it!

My family and I love this place. From the trails, wildlife, and water there is so much to do. Come here and have fun for hours. Bring water during the summer.

This area was very beautiful & we enjoyed the park & the scenery.
We learned that this area has legends of love, death & ghosts.

I used to go to college at Baylor University and ride my bike on the trails here 5-7 days a week. They are amazing! There are so many of them and we gave them all our own set of names. I went back to visit recently and noticed they haven't changed in 25 years. The park is still awesome! If you are a mountain biker and are thinking about going here, DO IT!!!

Wonderful history of Cameron park on our tour with Waco tours. The tour guides where very knowledge and interesting.

This is a very nice beautiful park! Lots do do and lots of hiking and bike trails. My family and I come here all the time! We love it!

We really enjoyed our climb to this site at the top of a ridge above the Brazos River. I think the city has done a great job of improving the landscape and making it more accessible for the average visitor. The views from the top are great opportunities for photography.

My boys and I went to Jacob's ladder. It is a steep staircase very beautiful. I am in terrible shape but the boys rocked it like champs. There were several different playgrounds including a small splash pad. We also went up to Lover's Leap and checked out the view which was amazing. There are trails by the river and in the woods. We spent over two hours and didn't even scratch the surface. On another note we went back after dark and it was super creepy just driving through no way you could have gotten me out of the car but that was half the fun. Supposedly there is a ghost in the park.

Many different trails to chose from. Beginning to moderate hiking and trail running. Parking at or near many of the trail heads. Fully shaded to partially shaded trails. Good for mountain biking as well. The river trail is great for running with minimal obstacles and elevation changes.

Took a stroll along the river, mostly for some exercise. Passed a couple of joggers, otherwise empty. Nice place to walk early in the day before it gets too hot. This is such a wonderful park, and well-maintained. Nice job Waco!

This is a very nice park extending along the river with nice views. There is a small splash park for the kids and lots of places for picnics.

Such a great way to start today on the way to work, driving through the park. Tree-lined streets, winding roadway, that eventually puts you alongside the Brazos River. Sunrise reflecting off the water.
Special drive to work!

You will enjoy the beauty of this place as it is amazing! Jacobs Ladder is a must do challenge! It is beautiful!!

This is a very nice park, plenty of shade for a hot sunny day. It was very well maintained and had great exhibits.

Most of my experiences of Waco have been driving through on the interstate. It was so nice to see the beautiful countryside from the lookouts in the park.

Take an afternoon to explore the trails of Cameron Park through its many woods, or along the water, or stop at the base level to let the kids play it the sprawling playground at this attraction adjacent to the zoo of the same name. This park, unlike the zoo, is free. Even if you only have a few spare minutes, drive up to Lovers' Leap and behold a breathtaking view of the Brazos River Valley and beyond. Unforgettable and massive, a treasure to be visited again and again.

We saw this on the Waco Tours trip. I would recommend seeing if you could spend a day here. It is beautiful with many trails (and a zoo too).

My family played a round of disc golf, climbed Jacob's Ladder, and watched the sunset at Lover's Leap. The view from Lover's Leap was amazing and disc golf was appropriately challenging for a bunch of novices. The park was clean, people were helpful, and there was plenty of shade.

I'd been to Cameron Park a few times before and just enjoyed the scenery, but this time? I was introduced to the hiking trails hiding within the woods and will definitely repeat if I'm ever in Waco again!

It was a hot summer afternoon and we were worn out from the Silos. So we drove through the park and got out at the sites (Lovers Leap, Cliff). I came back the next morning and ran Jacobs Ladder, it is a workout!

Walking sidewalks for sure footing along the Brazos River. Squirrels everywhere, birds singing nice quiet environment.

Spent a couple hours driving through the park stopping at the various view points, climbing Jacob’s Ladder and checking out Miss Nellie’s Pretty Place. A treasure for the city of Waco. The park was well visited on a January Sunday afternoon with people hiking, biking, playing disc golf, etc.

Surprisingly clean and quiet for the most part. There are lots of tranquil areas with wildflowers for relaxing or hiking trails for varying difficulty levels. We did not utilize them but found there to be quiet a few clean picnic areas available. This is in all around great place for a family day out or even a gathering as there were plenty of facilities to accommodate.

I love going to Cameron Park when it feels really good outside to either go for a jog or go hit the trails. If you are a girl I wouldn't go by yourself. Other than that it is a gorgeous attraction to visit

This park is huge and winds through hills and creeks. It’s great for hiking, biking, or running. Because it’s so large and forested, i would not recommend women going alone. But it feels very safe and clean

love the trails it is so nice i will say it neeeds to be cleaned but other than that i am happy to go back and climb the trails me and my husband love it there

We had a group of families meet here for a picnic lunch and splash park fun. The bathrooms were clean but didn't have soap. I was thankful they were stocked with TP.

I would go back there in a heartbeat! We went to lovers leap I think it was called. And thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Wow what an unexpected delight! We were fighting the setting sun so we only had a few minutes to take a few different hiking trails, & wow they were great! Some were EXTREMELY deep & adventurous. Loved the area & the view was SPECTACULAR! Will definitely head back there when in the area & will be sure to make a day of it, with picnicking & hiking.

I have been in many parks around the us, but this is one of the best, lots of trails for beginners, intermediates and advanced, i love doing trail running, if you do not know the park you can use the app or a map that can find in the bike stores, be careful with snakes, i have seen some and don't know if those are poison snakes, during summer even in the shade its hot but there is drinking water and bathrooms
i Have heard from some people that at night its dangerous but at have been there after 7 and i don't think so

Beautiful hike accessible to all walkers allowing us to follow the Bosqué River, several places to admire the river, take photos and take breaks!

This large, hilly park is great for hiking, mountain biking, jogging, picnicking, and generally relaxing. I've attended downhill longboard races and the shade of the trees kept us comfortable. It's simply lovely!

This park is awesome with so many things to see and areas to explore. The statues are very cool and the different scenic spots are equally as exciting in their own right. We spent hours here on multiple days to get the full experience. The people of Waco are lucky to have such a gem in their backyard!

Great place to take time to get away from the all the stress of traveling or just daily life. You can park and take the sidewalk or take to the bike trails in the interior of the park or simply drive through the park. I highly recommend walking up "Jacobs Ladder" (steps) and visiting Lovers Leap. If you have the time, stop by Outdoor Waco, 215 S. University Parks Dr #101 254.300.4448 and rent a bike, kayak and SUP and really get into the park physically. Oh, remember to take your disc and enjoy free all year round disc golf.

Really enjoyed this park.
The park has quite a few trails. I recommend parking by the redwood shelter. The river front trail can be easily accessed from that point. It is a great trail for either a run or hike. Well marked and beautiful trail.
Felt really safe on a weekend morning. Numerous runners.

The park is historic and beautiful!!! BUT the trash, the filth, the garbage, and the "clientele" make this a spot easy to forego. The city needs to do a MUCH BETTER job of keeping the park clean, keeping the park users decent (way too many kids running around in underwear, saggy diapers, etc.), and keeping unsavory characters away (good bit of thuggishness and upon driving through the park we saw several "parked" cars in suspicious locations with suspicious people in them most certainly up to something).

Even just driving through the winding roads in the park is beautiful! The walking trails, Jacob's Ladder, the river, all of it is relaxing and peaceful. It is so huge that it never feels crowded. Love it here.

This was an unexpected surprise. We went to go see/walk Jacob’s ladder but ended up at the bluffs and on the best trail by the river! Great for walking, hiking and is dog friendly. Loved this park! Very well maintained.

OK, may Central Park is better, but not by much. Lots of paved and unpaved trails, plus a major Texas river nearby. I have fond memories of Cameron Park.

We traveled to Waco to visit the Magnolia Silos and see bluebonnets. We drove through this crazy large park inside the city and while we saw few bluebonnets, we were pleasantly surprised at the quiet and peaceful solitude it offered. There are several areas that are great for kids, overlooks of rivers, a zoo, and hiking trails aplenty. A beautiful, relaxing place. Try it next time you go to Waco.

Cameron Park has so much to offer!! The number of beautiful trails, playgrounds, and views is amazing. The size of the park too is surprising for the city. It's the second largest municipal park in the US, just behind Central Park.

This park was a very nice surprise on our waco vacation. It was very beautiful with many hills and walking trails. Lovers leap has a great story behind and the view is amazing! The only negative thing I have to say is that the part was VERY dirty when we were there. Lots of trash!

There is a running, biking, walking, hiking trail that goes through Cameron Park and great for the health or nature enthusiast. I went out a couple miles running but turned around when the rocks made it hard to run through (I’m not a trail runner). When you follow the trail toward the road it turns paved and will connect up at Indian Springs Park where you can then cross a suspension bridge and run a long the other side. Great views along the river. This trail I was able to take to East Brazzo’s Park.

Cameron Park is one of the largest city parks in the United States. So many different type of areas inside the park and along the Brazos River. Very family friendly for hiking or picnics. Nice for couples too.

What a beautiful setting, for a picnic, just relaxing, hiking etc. So close to Waco, yet seems your out in the country!

Hiking Jacob's Ladder was a small challenge. The steps are deep, so I had to hold onto the ladder in a few places. It is a nice little hike. I noticed that some people would go up and down in order to get in some good cardio and strength training. If you are in Cameron Park, hike the Ladder. Once you get to the top, you can read about the historical country club in Waco.

Some of the best trails in Texas -- if not the entire USA -- are in Cameron Park. There are maps available for navigation, and Google Maps actually has all of them clearly labeled within the app (and reception is decent).
Tips: Some of the black diamond/double black diamond trails are easy enough for moderate hikers, it just depends on which way you are going. If you go North (enter from Lovers Leap), the three double back diamonds are all downhill and very interesting. Using a map with terrain shown will help plan which one to go
Tip: Plan which trails you want to take ahead of time. There are dozens, and they all intersect, and they aren't all clearly labeled. A printed out map, or Google maps, will help dramatically.
Tip; INSECT REPELLENT. Also there's poison ivy, so wear pants or something of the sort.

So peaceful. People were so friendly. Enjoyed our experience with the outdoors on our rented bike and hiking.

You have to visit Cameron Park. Whether you simply drive along the narrow, winding and hilly lane from one side to the other or use the hiking and biking trails and climb Jacob's Ladder, a rustic Stairway to Heaven, you'll feel you've found heaven on earth. Don't miss Lover's Leap with its broad vista of the lowlands beyond. Dedicated in 1910 and named in honor of William Cameron, this park does Waco proud.

we went into Cameron Park specifically to climb Jacobs Ladder. There were several people there who use the ladder for exercise. 88 steps of varying height. Quite the challenge, but at least on the shady side of the hill. Overlooking the bravos is a plus. Make this your next challenge.

We live in Waco and love visiting Cameron Park whenever we can! The park is huge and we have not even been on all of the trails. Great for running, hiking, biking, picnics, or just enjoying the outdoors:) you can spend 30 minutes here or stay all day. Great trails and playgrounds.

Cameron Park is amazing! Beautiful views and trails right on the river(s). Includes a great 27 hole disc golf course, several playgrounds, lots of trails (check the website for a map) and several splash pads.
Accessible by car and the river walk path that starts at Baylor and goes through downtown.
My favorite places are Jacob's Ladder, Circle Point and Emmons Cliffs. Lover's Leap is also great and a Waco landmark.

What a nice spot to enjoy an early spring afternoon. The Lovers Leap outlook is so pleasant with views of the river. There's a nice gazebo for family picnic as well. If you have children w you, be sure to visit the zoo.

A great way to relax in Waco and social distance away from COVID. Walk by the river, drive under the tree lined road through the park, or enjoy the views from a several lookouts.
Great place to watch the sunrise or sunset.

We went to this park to experience nice views overlooking the Brazos River. There are several places to park and look out over the river. Parts of the park are also at river level.
We spent about 30 minutes at the park, and stopped at 3 overlooks to get an interesting view of the river and surrounding area.

This is the place where I realize I loved trail running. Would highly recommend Halebopp Trail. From the top (near Lover's Leap), it's like riding a roller coaster.
Such a fun place with beautiful views. Definitely my favorite place in Waco.

Cameron Park was a wonderful surprise. The vistas are beautiful and impressive. In cooler weather I'd love to try some of the trails.

This was a great find. Our Waco Tour leader recommended so we came back to climb it. It was very fun and such a beautiful place.

Natural running space that is mostly used for joggers. Jacobs ladder is cool. There is a big playground in Cameron park coming from Indian springs before hitting the trails.

My husband, a friend and I went to the Cameron Park on a Saturday afternoon. There are no entrance fees and no parking fees. We went to the top of Jacob’s ladder (rock stairs), the Clubhouse, Miss Nellie’s Pretty Place, Lawson’s Point, Circle Point, Mouth of the Bosque, Emmons Cliff, Northern Gateway area and Lovers Leap. Jacob’s ladder is a very steep rock stairs that starts near the Brazos river and goes to the Clubhouse. The 1950’s Clubhouse is available for special events. Miss Nellie’s Pretty Place is near the Clubhouse. It has a pretty water feature (concrete pond about 30 feet in diameter and 1 foot deep) with a water fountain, seating around pond and flowers. It looks like a nice place for a wedding or photo shoots. Circle Point has 3 picnic tables, paved parking for about 10 vehicles and has a nice cliff view of the Brazos River. Mouth of the Bosque Point has nice restrooms, small pavilion, paved parking for about 10 vehicles and a river level view of the Brazos River. Emmons Cliff has a small pavilion, dirt parking for about 10 vehicles and a short walk from the Brazos River. Lover Leap has a small pavilion, paved parking for about 20 vehicles, benches, restrooms and has a nice cliff view of the Bosque River. Northern Gateway has playground equipment and large fields. In additional to all of this, there are marked trails all over in the woods. Beautiful park.

There have been so many upgrades to not only the park but the streets are so much better to drive on its just a beautiful park to just drive through if you like or stop in many of the available locations to have a picnic for two or a family gathering, just a beautiful park.

A beautiful scenic Cameron Park. There is lots of areas there for picnics and other activities. It also is part of Waco's World Class Cameron Park Zoo.
Beautiful scenic views
We enjoyed seeing more of the area from above, with the river below! It was in the 100s so a little hard to hang out at the look out when it was so hot, but there are miles of paths and places to go! Beautiful at sunset!
