One of the better ones I've been to in awhile.

By fraunies |

The casino is very clean, staff was very courteous, and there is a bowling alley and arcade for the children. As like other casino's they aren't there for us to make money so I'm never disappointed when I don't. I go with the intent that it's entertainment so if I do come out ahead it's a win/win for me. We didn't have much time there, but I'd definitely go back!

Enough is enough!

By Kathy Grier |

I have been coming to this casino for many years, as evidenced by my players card rewards level....Diamond. For at least the last 2 years, it has been IMPOSSIBLE to win enough to make a fun trip. The slots are so tight! Only won a substantial amount, about $2600, once in 3 years. It has been so frustrating. And, in the past , they would give me enough comp money to have enough for a nice dinner at one of the restaurants. Usually $100 or so. I would just ask my host and it was no problem. Now, my host is virtual....I asked for a dinner comp and "she" referred me to my app settings. Nothing there so I went to the new host station and the " host" there told me that she would only be able to comp me $25!!!!!....I said, " You are kidding! After the thousands i have played and lost ????? She tried to tell me that i had gotten $200 in free play. Yep, and that was for a ton of money I put in the machine on multiple trips, and that returned basically nothing. I was betting $5 dollars on that and the most i won was a line hit of 10× the bet. It went fast. On top of that, they charge a 37.50 resort fee now for a comped room. For what? Rooms arent that great and there is no extra services. Non smoking room smelled like smoking room. Saying all of this, I have finally had enough of Harrahs Cherokee Casino. They have gauged me enough!

Research with my group

By Jerry B |

As a frequent visitor at Harrahs Cherokee, I kept wondering why the slots are so tight there,, because many people here in my area go and actually have a large group that goes and compares machines. Guess what........North Carolina DOES NOT HAVE A CAMING COMMISSION!!!!!. In other words HARRAHS CHEROKEE IS SELF-REGULATED BY THE EASTERN BAND OF THE CHEROKEE INDIANS!!!!!!!! Talk about the level of corruption within this group can be incredible!!! Most casinos that use Class 1, Class2, and Class3 slot machines on a $1 slot will give anywhere from a 92 to 96 percent payout with the Casino taking the rest. Harrahs Cherokee is not paying anywhere near that........I have several people playing for days there for research on strictly dollar machines......making thousands of pulls on these machines........the best payout we have seen is around 63 to 77 % payouts.
Time for the "regulators" to be regulated and questioned as to the fairness to its patrons.

Tight machine and no fun at all!!!

By Johnelle B |

Came here to celebrate my husband 60th birthday and I will tell you it’s sucks… no one is winning , tight slot machine , rude Caesar rewards people , they don’t treat seven stars good. The payout of their slot machine is horrible for seven stars. I’m taking my business to hard rock, mgm . Not coming back here!!!!

You will love it! ❤️

Love this place! Easy to win and so much fun. Clean and beautiful place The staff was friendly, helpful and very professional.

Clean.

Glad no longer have Smoking in Main Part. No one ask us if we wanted anything to drink. Or spoke to us. Like others in the past.

Worst casino experience and worst I been to

By Shawnslg1978@gmail.com |

It was horrible altogether. We got food from the restaurant by the bowling alley and it was terrible and tasted plain. They offer very little comps for going and playing. They act like they don't care if you go back and that what I recommend don't go because we will never go back and we stay in the soco towers and got no comps for staying and the room was not great either.

Nice visit

By Juls |

Arrived on Sunday, May 23rd. Many people here. Masks are now optional. People winning at slots. Bells and whistles. Today, Monday, not much action and a lot of machines out of order.

Still a lot of construction happening. Noisy.

Machines are being cleaned and buckets of wipes are available.

Feel safe but I've been vaccinated.

A fun time

By WorldTraveler910 |

We had an excellent time in the casino. The casino was very clean and provided a friendly atmosphere. All of the casino personnel we encountered were very friendly and helpful with our questions. I want to make note of a special bartender at the Diamond Lounge. Unfortunately, I cannot remember his name, but my wife asked for a special after dinner drink. Even though he was not familiar with the drink he made every effort to recreate the drink and I am pleased to say that he did succeed. Talk about providing superior customer service.

No big rush to go back

By Justin W |

The smokers fill up the one elevator that works. Of the three elevators. The employees use covid to not be polite or nice. No one to help you out if you have a question. Or even directions. 2 roulette tables open with only 3 guest at each table. Not able to have fun or enjoy. On the plus side, they don't smoke inside. But you smell like a dirty ash tray anyway. As all the smokers are right outside the door when you go in and out.

We had a BLAST😀!!!! Lots of games to choose from and the staff was very friendly and helpful with questions.

By jessi c |

Had lots of fun! The rooms was clean and nice for the prices. The staff where very friendly and helpful. Had a blast playing the games and had a large selection to choose from.

Great time

By Bryan K |

It was great we had a fun time it was pretty busy black jack was crowded but overall it was a great experience

Not yet enjoyable

By CiscoTax |

We are regulars in that we visit about 6-8 times a year. This was our first time back since COVID. I would wait. It’s very clean, everyone I saw was wearing mask, temps taken. Every precaution was executed perfectly. Slots are turned off every other so no crowding. The tables however are the reason for the low review. They are allowing 3 players per table. I had to wait 25 min for a $15 black jack table one night and 35 min for $10 roulette another night . Then they are cleaning chairs between each player at table but not slots?? So they are waiting on pit boss to wipe chair down between each player change. This wouldnt be so bad if they had more tables open but they don’t. We will wait to come back until tables are fully open or change to practice.

Always visit

By diam0nd5 |

We always go to Harrah's when we are there on vacation. We also visit the Harrah's Cherokee River Valley Casino in Murphy.

Decent casino with terrible odda

By rodden23 |

Plenty of table games and tons of slot machines, but the table games must be rigged because I played for about ten hours over two days and didn’t see anyone win any money. I play in casinos all over the world and I know the odds for the games I play and they don’t add up at this casino. Stay away!

Love coming here!

By Amber W |

Love to come up to Harrahs! It’s beautiful scenery is always enjoyable! The casino is always clean and there was always people whipping it very thing down for safety!

Nice Casino, But Food is Missing

By Richard Smart |

This may be the largest casino I've ever been in anywhere in the world. They have six deck blackjack, which I like, although midday on a Thursday they only had 20% of the tables open and all were $25 minimum bets. Would have been nice to be able to ease into the day at a $10 table. Tge dealers confirmed that they only go down to $15. Plenty of slots to choose from, the staff is very heloful,

Mountain Stay

By BoardingPass31481 |

My wife and I stopped in Cherokee for a two night stay. She was comped a room at Harrah’s Casino. We stayed in the newly built tower and the room decor was very nice.

Laughably awful. . .

By CMC |

I did some research and found that all of the positive reviews were some time ago. From the amount of money this place makes you think they would clean a floor, throw on a coat of paint, clean, or do anything to make it less gross.

I was there for an event, I didn't gamble. If you are planning on taking the family; please let me give you a few pointers.

1. This is a smoke free facility, absolutely no smoking period! Unless you like to smoke marijuana, then you can smoke in your room all you want with no penalty. You won't even get a knock on the door! Also, the anti-odor stuff they spray after you check out from smoking your pound of weed smells like crap, I much prefer the weed.

2. If you enjoy marijuana smoke from the room next door then this is the place for you! That's right, units share HVAC access so you'll be all 420 up in here, its awesome!!!

3. Masks are mandatory, without exception! COVID protocol is of the utmost importance to this facility and its leadership with only a few exceptions: Hand sanitizer stations are empty, room surfaces are not wiped down much less disinfected, hand rails, door knobs, the whole COVID approach is a ruse, but you damn well better have on a mask!

4. The rooms have been updated which is awesome! By updated I mean the towels have possibly been changed, everything else is from '88. The dresser, TV stand, night tables, all covered in dust LOL, DUST! The easiest dirt to clean! Then there were soda can stains and dried food all over the desk, and hair in the sink.

5. Buffet is closed because buffets are magnets for COVID (See #3) so you are forced to either eat in the few restaurants which are super expensive or order take out. There's a McDonalds close by so there's that.

Okay so what's good about it?

I'll get back to you. . .

This place is just for gamblers, its not a place you can enjoy staying at. There are so many better options in much better places.

Cherokee Harrah's

By Patricia S |

Nice rooms, great choice of slots or tables, abundance of restaurants, parking available, friendly staff, good prices on beverages.

It must be twice the size of Altantic City!

By Kellyahan |

Coming from New Jersey, where we are Caesars Diamond Plus members, we were excited to stop by the Harrahs in Cherokee during our stay in Asheville. The casino must be twice the size of the one in the famous gambling town of Atlantic City! So many different slots than back at home and so many more tables! Especially poker!

Lost a point thought because most of the restaurants (that we could find) were under construction.

Gambling there not fun.

By Kenneth H |

We won't go back to the casino. The slots are so tight. We didn’t see anyone win. The last 4 visits were just terrible. You would think they would loosen up the slots some just to get people to come back.

Tight slots.

By popwolf |

Lost lots of $$$, but still had a great time. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Lots of games to choose from. Won most of my money on the Big Wheel and Table Games. Lost my tail on slots. All is fun, bring plenty of cash.

When it’s clear some changes have been made...we might come back.

By 941margem |

Beautiful Hotel & Casino. Recent improvements & additions are impressive. HOWEVER, its unfortunate, and very obvious that your customers are carrying the financial burden for these expenses. Super tight slot machines, 1 (one) $10 min roulette table - when clearly you should have 3-4 (too many people swarming that 1 table) - $8.00 - $10.00 drinks, are just some of the shocking encounters. The tip of the ice burg is when you check your comps at the end of a weekend gambling, (quite a bit) to see you have “NO OFFERS”. And I mean NOTHING! Come on??? Seriously??? Have some class people. Do you not want your guests to return? EVER?
I ask this question because I heard it come from so many mouths. And, I did read it in reviews on my way up there...but we’ve been to your casino in the past...MANY TIMES (but some years ago), and I just didn’t want to believe it. I thought it was simply disgruntled losers that shouldn’t be there in the first place. But sadly, no.
I was there to celebrate my birthday. I did have a good time. The man at the rewards counter even said Happy Birthday to me. 😊 Was secretly hoping for something special though...as most casinos do for special occasions...but no. 😕 Please take the following suggestion to heart...Do something for your guests...ANYTHING...let them know you appreciate them. Loosen up those slot machines just a little...or building all those new parking decks is going to be for naught.

Vacation

By Jeannette M |

The trip was good the only thing I didn’t like was we didn’t have water in the building until 3am Wednesday morning. We checked in 4pm Tuesday evening.

Fun afternoon and not packed

By spike9090 |

We did not stay at the hotel. Only visited the casino. All staff that we encountered was friendly. We only played slots. The have very few $0.25 slots. Almost all $0.01 and $1. The slots are stingy, so we both came back losers :(

Plenty of tables and slot machines

By The Spanglish Guy |

Mid size casino, with plenty of table games and slot machines.
Have several bar stations and bathrooms across the casino floor.
It also have a food court with 4-5 options and a asian restaurant.
Parking can be valet or self.

Dirty Rooms

By Nona H |

Paid for a pet friendly room which cost extra, thats fine. Room was very dingy. Previous pet hair everywhere including mattress that I could see because sheet was not properly on the bed. Room was very outdated and toilet would not flush properly and ran all night. Every elevator and hallway were not only filthy but reeked of Marijuana. I booked a 2 day trip and left a day early and just ate paying for 2 days and only stayed one. The hotel its self charges 5 star prices looking worse than a motel 6. Casino its self was fine .

Goodbye Harrah's Cherokee Casino you are a disappointment.

By Lori H |

I was so dissatisfied with the service I received during my last visit. Your front desk staff and housekeeping staff was a horrible experience. I also did not enjoy the casino the payouts was horrible but that is part of gambling . I visited your casino with my husband and I played until early morning. We were awaken at 8 :45 am by housekeeping banging on hotel rooms doors loudly saying House keeping !!!!! We called front desk over 5 times complaining about noise of things being thrown against the walls as well as staff constantly waking up sleeping patrons. I spoke to several employees hers the list ...Sam (rude)
I asked for late check out for being disturbed and had to ask her 3 times to give me a later check out .. explained to Sam how loud the staff was early morning and she said basically this was normal to be loud at 9 am but she would agree to give me a 12 check out. I specifically asked her to please make sure the housekeeping staff knew. This was around 9:30 ish. But right before 11 am we get loud banging at the door my husband goes to the door and it is housekeeping staffer banging and shouting like a police officer his name was Nick . We told him we had a late check out tried to sleep but there is a loud thump like someone literally threw something against the wall behind us. We got up think we were being targeted for complaining to front desk rep Sam because apparently she did not tell housekeeping we had a late check out. We complained to several people Catherine front desk who blindly transferred us to Amanda house keep manager (who was useless) remember I am diamond member that got a free room but consistently getting awaken on the night before I am scheduled to check out. We complained to a Deliala that called me on my cell phone I basically just hung up the phone on Dilala because she was no help and I was exhausted. We spoke to. Cathy at front desk another wasted call. We ended up getting ready to leave right after Nicholas (Nick) banged on the door by now the damage was done. Before we left we called front desk again and was out in hold. I am so done with Harrah's Cherokee. I had bad feelings that this staff was all in cahoots together so I was not going to leave the room until someone could verify that before we left we did no damage to the room. My husband went out in hall and asked for a supervisor we meet a Shontel who was our saving grace not only did she listen to our concerns she allowed us to feel comfortable that the other staff would not retaliate against us by lying on us and saying we damage something in the room to charge us damages on the card we had on file with hotel for incidentals. Shontel wax the only staff member that we felt was professional and trustworthy. We checked out of the hotel way before our authorized 12 check out. Ironically when I was in line waiting to check out I heard one of the front desk check out members say to a patron that apologized to her for asking a question..the hotel staff member said to the patron " that if she was the only problem customer she had to deal with compared to other patrons it would be wonderful " now that told it all . I am done patronizing companies that do not care about the customer. Lastly I decided before this trip to stop getting offers though the mail because it was just so much paper wasted . I opted out to no mail being sent. No one explained to me that I would not get any offers at all. So. Basically instead of Harrah's saving trees and our environment by opting to use electric offers they penalize the card members who want to save planet earth 🌎 now isn't that disgusting. I am done with you Harrah's Cherokee !!!

We did not stay in the hotel as it was leafs eason and the wekend rates were out of sight but still rooms were full. We came for a little gaming and a nice dinner. The casinos of Biloxi, Tunica and Las Vegas do not have to worry. The casino is dark and crowded but our great disappointment was in the food offerings. We love the buffets we have had in the past at any casinos but I understand COVID took care of those. This casino has a Ruth Chris Steakhouse which is probably great but I don't want to spend $50 for two crab cakes. That left only stand in line to order and carry your food on a tray to a table places to eat. Yes, lots of them but they really need a medium priced sit down restaurant or may two or three.

By singleagain2008 |

I did not stay at the hotel this time but in previous visits, the hotel inside the casino was nice! I did request a non smoking room but the room smelled like smoke, however it was a nice and comfy room!

Don't go for the food.

By kerwriter |

We are here now. I had reserved a premium room in the Cherokee Tower and was assured the room would be very nice with a great view. We were not given any direction as to where we should park or that the Cherokee Tower was far away from the other towers. When we arrived and went to check in we were told that if we really wanted to be in the Cherokee Tower we should go back into the self park, move our car to the opposite side of the resort and the other parking structure. If we wanted to drag our luggage through the casino it would take 15 minutes. We were tired after driving almost five hours so we accepted the desk clerk's offer to put us on the 19th floor in the Creek tower. It is OK, and if you just look out the window from the bed you have a nice view of the mountains - still some pretty fall colors. The room itself is kind of dowdy, older furnishings, but it is clean.
We came here for my birthday, especially to eat at the much touted Gordon Ramsey sit down restaurant and enjoy his famous beef Wellington. This is advertised to be on the menu in Ramsey's Truffles' pub. It turns out that Truffles Pub is not open yet - it's almost a year over due because they have no staff. If you look at Cherokee Casino website today you will see Truffles Pub is advertised as open with pictures of the beef wellington. Instead of a nice sit down dinner of beef Wellington we were expected to eat from the food court. Gordon Ramsey should know that his brand is being tainted at Cherokee Resort . The casino also promises a Gordon Ramsey sushi bar. Nope, the only sushi is pre-packaged sold out of a market bin.
The Wicked brewpub, an offshoot of a local restaurant, is decent. You can sit at tables or in the bar. Good cocktails. We had pretty good burgers there last night (the Gordon Ramsey burger place in the food court required you to take your burger and find a seat on your own. We LOVE Gordon Ramsey's burgers in Las Vegas but what we saw being prepared at his place in the food court weren't appetizing. (We realize Gordon Ramsey just sells his name to these places but its his reputation that is suffering.)
Just saying, we believed the casino's hype about the Gordon Ramsey wonderful dining options and were very disappointed that the advertising was false - the restaurant that brought us to the casino to celebrate has been closed for almost a year and no one knows when it will be open. Not coming back.

Tried many slots but no payouts. People were humdrum & complaining about no payouts.

By A Zee |

I Stayed two days & spent $1,500 payout of $114! Tried many slots but no payouts. People were humdrum & complaining about no payouts. It is pathetic & just plain wrong for so many slots to not payout. After 2-3 spins, I move on if it’s not paying out anything & that was the case. I do not intend to return. They’ve been on a steady decline of payouts. A lot of the slots buttons don’t work because they spray sanitize the machines is what the Service Attendant told me. Obviously they don’t appreciate their customers except to drain their pockets & that’s no fun!!! Nobody wants to just lose ALL their money at the casino!

Huge and Well done

By Christopher Scott |

I thought the place was Really nice and Well done. Unbelievable amount of different machines and games to play. Some great restaurants there too

Won’t be back

By Christine P |

Wow. Tightest slots I’ve ever encountered. $800 gone in a flash. Very limited food choices. Can’t smoke in casino, which is fine, but you can’t even take your drink - which you have paid for - out to have a smoke. All in all, just really terrible.

I have won big here but often the machines seem tight.

By Di |

This is a clean and beautiful casino. It is non smoking. The casino floor is beautiful and the grounds are stunning. A creek meanders alongside the property. It is a large casino so expect to do some walking and each tower has its own parking area. There are many food options. Guy Fieri’s and Wicked Weed are wonderful and Brio and Ruth Chris are exceptional. There are many many skits and many table games. There are no full pay videopoker machines. If you look around the area you can see elk at dusk at Oconaluftee Indian village, beautiful hikes and waterfalls and there are a few museums.

After 20 years DONE!

By John Phillips |

After 20 years we are done I am always Diamond and husband Seven Stars....clear slots will never improve and tired of losing 6k-8k each visit....came day early dec 30th and big mistake lost all that day thinking would eventually paynus back but clear on nothing but collect for new years eve.....but seems always on collect......others asking in elevator and halls and restaurants and even bingo if we won trying to see if they are inky ones losing and one person tipped me off they would rather pay the fines and there are articles to google it.....they were right....now we know. So we are done. No honesty or integeity. Also start taking pictures of your points before you get up from machines and addd them up and check your monthly statement, ours are never accurate.....think they are diverting those behind scenes.....something dishonest snd fishy going on, and coupons stop out of nowhere and explanations say system error or I changed something online and systems are old do not change address or info online do it here because always messes up.....point being always an excuse. I hope these buildings become a ghost town because it will serve them right as a. Reminder their greed caused it.

Awesome

I've been here several times and it always is a nice place to visit. I'm not a huge gambler but I do enjoy the selection of games that are available.

Large bright clean casino

By John D |

Very nice, big, lots of slots, great bartenders, friendly waitress, lots of restrooms and bars through property

Nice casino

By livelife h |

Very nice casino they're smoking sections are not near where the general population is so it's not a overbearing smell when you walk through the casino. Plenty of slots they even got a bowling alley and plenty of options to eat

Harrah's Cherokee Casino

By rohniesr4756 |

Gambling at this casino you're sure to lose. The slots that I played at this machine Casino were so tight I could not win anything worthwhile. I'm going to take my gambling money and play somewhere else in the future.

Great times

By Harry & Tamaura Scheeler |

We decided to stop here on the way home from Tennesse as a side trip. We had such a great time. We each got $50 in free play. My girlfriend won over $400. Although we all put back what we won it was the fun and experiences that we came for.

Nice enough

By Foodie |

Nice enough casino. Lots of smokers.
Lots of slots. Not much open in food court. Duncan doughnuts coffee was lukewarm. Disappointed.

By sandrareid3771 |

I like to travel to Harrah's in Cherokee. Did not stay overnight but looking forward to staying overnight in the future. The employees are friendly and helpful. I feel safe when visiting.I like to play the slots machines and would love to win more.but I am sure everyone that visits wish the same thing. Wish there were a Harrah's in South Carolina but our laws forbid casions in South Carolina. If I could win this contest I would be one happy grandma.

Beautiful property

By wwilkinson2018 |

Went to Cherokee Friday night and actually won a little bit this trip. The casino was clean and plenty of slots to choose from. Drink service spotty, especially Saturday morning.

Fun weekend in the mountains of North Carolina.

By grammy rose |

My sister, nephew and I decided to spend the weekend at the hotel and casino in Cherokee, NC. We had a beautiful clean, comfortable, smoke-free handicap room with the safety features we need. We were there 2 nights and visited the casino each night. We ate in the Diamond dining room 1 of those evenings. Food was good but nothing extraordinary. We ate in the food court the next day for lunch but the pizza I chose at Uno's was not anything I would order again. My nephew, on the other hand, did eat it and enjoyed it. I understand that there is a bowling alley near the food court for those who want to do a little something when not in the casino playing slots or tables. This casino is the largest I have ever visited - it's huge. There is a gift shop in the casino area where one can spend their winnings buying things to remember the fun they had there. We ate breakfast at a buffet in the hotel that had a decent selection and friendly, helpful staff. There is a Starbucks on the way to the casino for those who need their favorite eye-opener brew. They have a limited selection of food items but salads and fresh fruit are good for you. Even though I left the casino with an empty piggy bank, I enjoyed my time with my family.

Would visit again

By J S |

The walk from the parking garage is a bit long and the directional sign could be better but we enjoy the walk
Casino was spotless, not very crowded, machines fairly easy to figure out and payed a pretty good pack back

Meh

By Amy B |

Need more penny machines. Better odds to win. More staff on floor. Didn't win but I'd return again in the future if I travel through North Carolina again. May have been more enjoyable with friends.

By shadydaze7 |

Horrible customer service and the price gauging is beyond anything I've seen at a casino. They know there is not another casino near by and they over charge for everything. It gives Harrahs cooperation a bad name as I will make sure to go anywhere but Harrahs when I have an option because of how they treat people and steal from them at the Cherokee location.

Play to Win - Stop if You Don't

By E J W |

Make sure you have a budget and stick to it.. noticed that the winning buzz didn't start until late afternoon.

Also, check out their other store and restaurants. One draw back was the buffet at Salu restaurant ends at 11:30 am ?

Reware

By Lexi |

Poor signage. Difficult to find your way to the towers. Not elderly friendly. Hope Kings Mountain Casino is better. Thx

Soco tower, old, but true and familiar.

By Bruce B |

The new Cherokee tower will attract some, but ole' familiar Soco is comfy. Nice rooms, close to elevators and the action. Familiar machines with some newbies at $.50, well staffed and maintained. Pet friendly for puppy family members.

Love going but a lot has changed

By Brandy M |

This is my 5-6 visit if your driving beside the House of Pancakes make a right at the light then the next light make a left go towards back of the casino go across the bridge pass the vallet parking go up the hill immediately turn left into the casino parking deck make sure U know which parking deck your in because when U leave it took me 2 hrs to find my friend & my parking spot because with the hotel it’s confusing where to park. I love going remember where tennis shoes a lot of walking was sad to know the restaurants aren’t open. They don’t come by U with free drinks like they used to a lot. Every time I go there are different machines but I still love going here. There’s a separate smoking room now 😂, bowling place & a sports area.

Exciting time!

By Dionne D |

I absolutely love cherokee but wished I won more as every gambler does I'm sure 😉 The staff was courteous, efficient and aways willing to help. We brought my mom and her sister ,2 Golden Girls who had an awesome time. Beds were heaven and enjoyed the mountain view.

great entertainment

By DeeS9348 |

very nice but definitely a little tired... some new machines but you can tell the casino itself needs a little TLC... please don't get me wrong - I thoroughly enjoyed myself and the gift shop personnel were very friendly as well as the casino staff

a long walk but worth it

By Gabby |

it was the best we had such an adventure looking for the arcade and indoor pool all of the towers connected so it was a long but fun walk to the coastal tower the arcade is on the 4th floor it was so much fun walking from the laguna tower (were the dogs stay) to atrium all the way to coastal the ac burger was so good the hotel is so big they have 2 self parking garages that's what makes the hotel so great.

Great safe stay

By clidec |

Played mostly blackjack. $15-25 minimum limit per hand is a little high for some people-only 3 persons per table-each time someone got up the seat and table were sanitized properly. Bottled Beers were $4 at the tables and service was pretty good. With only 3 per table it is very fast moving so you lose or win quickly. When the shoe ends there is only a couple minutes changing cards so it is nonstop and can get mentally tiring fast. There are quick and big swings in luck so I suggest short time sessions to maximize your bankroll. Didn’t see slots or video poker winners, but everyone were wearing masks and seemed to be having fun. We enjoyed our stay and meals. Brio restaurants was our favorite. All this is just my opinion.

Wonderul time!!

By ColleenBGreen |

Everyone from start to finish could not have been more helpful and pleasant no matter their job or the time or day of night it was. Our room (1030) was clean and pleasant, all features in good working order and no problem getting extra towels or toilet items if needed.
Yes the place is huge but just ask any employee and they are happy to direct you. They have mobility carts for rent if needed.
There is no smoking or vaping in the hotel but they have provided many convenient and pretty out door spaces to do so. As a smoker I found this a very fair and pleasant option! To the smokers who leave their spent butts on the ground less than a foot away from the many containers provided, shame on you!!
We enjoyed our stay and decided to stay an extra day!
To those of you with such negative reviews I ask you, IS ANYTHING ALRIGHT!!!!!!!!
Again thank you to everyone for a wonderful time, we will be back!

Cancelation

By Rufaro M |

Been calling numerous times to cancel a reservation due to bad weather. My wife had gotten hold of the main desk and the phone cut..at least have some sense to call back. There has to be a better way of handling cancelations.

Decent Casino

By Cindi |

Nothing like Vegas Harrah but nice for the area. The food court wasn't that great but overall fun place and beautiful

Casino in the mountains

By chakbeh |

Good break from a trip. Very popular busy casino with lots of slot and table game. Ample parking. Good variety of restaurants on premise.

Casino was good!!

By Paula D |

They kept the gaming floor clean and social distanced as much as can be expected. Mask and temperatures required to enter. No complaints!

Getaway time

By Opportunity2256 |

I must say after reading many of the more recent reviews I was wondering how this place has survived. I do feel everyone can have a bad visit most anywhere, anytime...but many of the reviews were from people that only have sent in one review...so I took it with a grain of salt. But anyone that goes to a casino EXPECTING to win is having dreams of grandeur...folks, if you don't know it's why it's called gambling...check to odds of winning at slots, table games in this industry...the casinos win ... No question...good luck, enjoy...take cash...if you don't know that ATMs charge fees where have you been the past 30 years...or get a bank that will cover you... sorry for my ramble...but for us our experience was very good...room was very clean...meals are what you should be prepared for... Ruth Chris Steakhouse... If you don't know of them knowing you'll pay upward to $200 for two don't go...our visit was excellent...Brio was also typical Brio fare...and food... breakfast at the Siu was very good... food court was what a food court is...have you been to a mall? The Covid requirements were well in place... constantly cleaning... masks were enforced actively... limits at the table was frustrating, but you better read the information before going if you don't like it, don't go...yes there was waiting, nothing not expecting... overall the resort was clean and the casino was a casino... nothing outstanding, but we are in a pandemic still I wish more people would be realistic in their expectations...and the drive in...great views...if you don't like a mountain highway... again, don't go.

Easily the most disappointing casino I’ve ever been to

By Harrahs Cheroke... I |

The only good thing I can say is that it was a very clean and non-smoking environment. But they will not bring you alcohol to your table if you are playing. If you ask a dealer they will tell you they’ll be around in a minute but in 2 days, no one in our group ever got a beverage while at a table or even saw a waitress. To anyone reading this just stay away. Go to a real casino. All decks at every table are automated, and the Bonus wheel blackjack tables are a scam. Asked the dealer how often someone hits the jackpot because it shows that it resets. She shook her head and said “never” and looked around to see if anyone else heard her. Don’t want to say her name Bc I don’t want anything bad to happen to her. But good on her for being the only honest person in building full of lies.

WSOP Circuit Event

By jlw0lf |

Went over to play in the WSOP. It was set up in the event center to keep it separated from the main casino & poker room. Also checked out the poker room downstairs which was very well set up. The place was packed for the weekend with a 2 hour wait to get a seat in the poker room. Main casino could use more Ultimate Hold'em tables and fewer Blackjack tables.

A Fun Get Away

By Tim G |

We decided to take a quick trip last weekend, we did not stay at the resort but gambled 2 days. We had a blast. We are big on the Beau Rivage (comp'd rooms and flights) but Cherokee is a pleasant drive from Atlanta. Yes you have to pay for drinks, but the prices are fair. What made the trip so fun were the characters running the craps tables. They were a blast, for the 10 hrs we were at the tables. We do not intend to make money, just have fun and we did. I do wish the rates weren't $500 a night as I'd love to stay at the resort for a long weekend. Also the restaurants don't earn you points. Drop $100+ at Brio, no points...

Harrah's casino review

Loved all of the new work that has been done on the casino. And loved that the casino is now smoke free!! It was kept very clean and the staff very friendly. Also the bowling alley was great!!

Non paying slots

By Jon A |

Nice place but i never heard a machine ring or attendants do a payout. I fed many machines much money and never hit a pot over 400. Then it went into the machine again. The elk in cherokee are more popular than the buffalo on the buffalo gold machines. I won 15 free games and only got $2,40 in returns. I always used max bets and that strategy didnt work. The 6 dollar a beer drink service sucked also with only occasional service. I assume since they dont have to report to the gaming authority like other casinos so the machines are set at 80 percent returns. The eastern band of cherokee indians never have to worry about me stepping back into that place. We went with a couple thay spent well over 5 digits and they say the same. Harrahs find some more suckers because i wont be one again.

By FarAway429630 |

Did not stay at the hotel due to not being there in over 2 years prices were high. Enjoyed our time at the casino and the surrounding area. Very clean and up to date on slots. Good selection of beer from around the state.

Outdated and gross

By Alowens5896 |

Made a reservation for a room after checking that they allow pets. Get to the resort and am told that we can’t have the room we reserved because we had to go to a certain wing. Found it to be the smoking wing that looked dilapidated compared to the rest of the hotel. As you can see in the photos it was scuffed, dirty, and although we have dogs, we aren’t dirty people. Was happy to only be staying one night. Very unimpressed.

By marshas92020 |

I had no amenities as I did not stay in a room. It was hard to self park and even harder to exit the parking area. I had to get out and stop traffic to leave. There were not enough seats at tables and the dice stick to the table leading me to believe they were magnetized.

Gross pool

By Lydia |

The pool is really gross. It’s over grown w algae and floating white chunks. The water is cloudy and has a layer of oily grime. It’s July. The pool should be cleaner than this, especially with a resort fee. I feel like we are going to get legionnaires disease. Everything else is as expected, great… but don’t come for the pool.

If you can find a better option to gamble, go there instead.

By Jenn S |

This place has so much potential but just falls short in everything. I'm really not one to complain, but I was shocked at what I got (or didn't get) for my money here. First off, the rooms are old and worn out. If we hadn't gotten ours comped, I would have raised holy hell for what they charge per night. They don't match the website pictures at all- stains on the carpet, worn out furniture, chipped tile, etc. It was clean when we arrived but housekeeping is nowhere in sight for the majority of your stay and requesting it special basically gets your bed made and fresh towels. No actual cleaning of the room. I second, third and fourth what everyone says about the slots being tight. While we don't play a lot- maybe $1k each trip on slots, we always use max bets and rarely hit anything. It's almost comical how long you can go on a dry spell with some of them! Also, getting a drink on the floor is difficult at best, impossible at other times. You have to walk to the bar yourself for reliable service. The late night food options are nonexistent. 3am and only 1 place in the food court is open with a line 20 people deep and no grab and go options. We've learned to bring our own food to not starve overnight. I understand the staffing shortage, but this is just poor management. So many people in line would have grabbed a premade sandwich or quick option if they had a choice other than waiting 30 minutes for crappy food court food. You'll find leftover drink cups and empty bottles everywhere and bathrooms are hit and miss on if they are clean. The poker room is OK (the main reason we go), but there's always a wait for tables that exceeds my patience. 60+ minutes to play makes me think there are better options elsewhere. The pool and fitness rooms are nice, but range from empty to crowded and can be hit or miss. If I have another option, I choose to go elsewhere after all my bad experiences here.

We did not stay at the casino. Want to in near future. We enjoy the gaming experience at Cherokee. The variety of games is a plus. Employees are always friendly and helpful if needed. We are excited to see the new additions being added to the casino

Bring your walking shoes!

By S R |

Since they have added the parking garage and the huge hotel, to the casino, it's now a LONGGGGG walk to the casino, from parking garage. Nice and non-smoking, helpful staff, clean, and a fun day.

Fun afternoon

Always try to make a trip across the mountains when we are in Gatlinburg. We haven't been to Harrah's in several years. The place has certainly grown. We were able to play for a couple of hours, We broke even but had a good time. Many casinos these days are so tight we feel ripped off. Enjoyed this visit.

What Happened to the Cherries?

By Susie Snowflake |

Wishing for the olden days when a machine actually had the value posted in an easily comprehended way. Now a 1 cent sign usually means 30 cents or more and it is not until the customer looks closely that it becomes obvious that pennies are not being spent. The search for quarter machines was pretty frustrating. Couple that with a strange gentleman at the rewards counter whose very difficult to understand gutteral explanations were confusing, and the constant rap music which made me want to get away rather than play and I have to say that I was not a totally relaxed gambler enjoying a good time.

Nice place. Didnt win...LOL
Gordon Ramsey food court was good. Fish and chips were great. I added the 2 piece Jumbo shrimp and they were really good. Pizza's looked great.

Can you say “tight” machines ?

By Acural93 |

We were at Harrahs Cherokee in December 2019
And I must say this was my worst experience I have ever had there. We have been there many times and I came away very distraught at the sum of money spent at the
Machines and so little return. It has to be the fact they are expanding and we are paying for it. Will I return ? I cannot say I will but I will say I am hesitant.

Came out winning

By Marie M |

A good mix of both slots and tables. Hotel room was nice and bed was super comfortable. the Gordon Ramsay world market was a chef's kiss. Disappointed in Ruth Chris's. Not really worth the hype

Fun place to hang out!

By Gaye Henley |

I did not gamble but went to eat and people watch. It is huge and beautiful! Open 24 hours. The employees are super helpful. I asked for directions a lot as it is so big.

Impressed

By vhash77 |

Visited briefly during COIVD-19 in August. I have to applaud Harrah's for simply being on top of their game for keeping things sanitized. I like the fact you have a temperature check before entering, they ensure you have a face mask, areas are marked off for entrance, and you must have a wrist band to enter.

I thought staff did a great job of going around and wiping down the machines. And I even noticed a hand sanitizing wipe area that you could get wipes and use on any machine you sat at.

The only negative I will say - I noticed the machines seemed to be tight. They didn't hit very often, which while it's still fun to play to see how the games operate etc. After about 1/2 hour of loosing money it was time to leave.

It's a fun place to enjoy some time if you just are wanting some entertainment playing machines.

Very Good

By Jeffrey F |

I have been reading reviews of Harrah's Cherokee and I felt I should give mine. I travel 2 hours every other month to stay for 3 nights at the hotel. Yes the slots seem tight at times but over all they pay as well as any other casino. I won $850 last time on a $.50 bet. and the trip before I won $700 on a $1.50 bet. For me the trick is to keep moving set a limit to loose on each machine when it's gone get up and move. As for the table games I would like them to return the $10 Black tables and feel they will when the new area is opened. I also really miss the Pai Gow tables. it was a place to sit and relax and not loose a fortune just a laid back game. PLEASE bring it back. they do need more dining option mostly late night. the rooms are quite nice and getting 3 nights comped helps the stay to be affordable for me and I'm only a platnium member. Looking forward to our next stay in 1 week meeting another couple for 4 days of fun.

Come and play, but be prepared to starve yourself.

By Bobby F |

Casino is fun with plenty of action. It gets crowded. Many complaints about trying to find a place to eat. Facility does not have enough places to eat. What places they do have are very long waits and lines. They built an additional hotel, but severely lack eating places. They seem to want to lure people in to stay and play without caring how one can eat. Many patrons were complaining about the lack of eating places. Rumors from several patrons were they will take their business elsewhere.

By eastlabor |

Did not stay at the hotel on site. Normally when I go to gamble drinks are free or at a reduced rate. Did not like that the cocktails we pre mixed. Casino was nice but all of the dealers where not always helpful.

Bad casino

By Amy S |

I ordered and paid for a drink at the bar (not cheap). Been playing several hours. Walked out the front door to smoke! Intending to play more. Security came out and said I wasn’t allowed to bring my drink out! They made me pour it out to get back in! This place is so rigged! Can’t smoke, pay for drinks, and totally rude staff! Very unfortunate. Zero respect from staff members! You would think they would cater to people who come to play from Atlanta. They could give a rip about you! I left the next day!

Nice time

By Juls |

Got here on Sunday, 9-12. Surprised by the number of people here. I play slots. Some wins, more losses, but people were winning.

Nice meals at Brio's. New beer brewing company open at 4. Looks interesting. Food, too.

Still have to mask. No smoking inside and I have to wonder how much money they are losing when people are outside smoking. It's all about the money.

New tower looks nice. More parking garages. More construction on inside near entrance, front.

Always a nice place to visit. Pool still open. Not getting comps like I used to before pandemic.

By nns0807 |

Was a nice short trip, loveeee the restaurant! Did not stay at the hotel this time but did use the casino, bar and restaurants. I like that they dont always have the same machines. Will be back again sometime

Non-smoking area too small and too close to smokers. Good variety of slots. There were table games but we did not play.

Do not recommend

By Laura S |

Used to love coming here but it’s all changed. Slots are terrible, food court is nasty and way overpriced. The new restaurants are just as bad. Only hood one is Brio. Needed some help and basically just got a run around. It’s just not fun anymore and not worth the drive for me.

Safety Protocols as Expected

By Juls |

I have been here two days. Safety protocols as expected...enter through parking garage, lower level. You will be asked if you have any symptoms listed on chart, temp will be taken. You do need a mask to enter. You will be given a wrist band to wear while you are here, if you meet requirements.

Unlike other review, I see hand sanitizer stations everywhere, plus bins of hand sanitizer wipes.

No smoking inside, allowed outside in front of rotunda.

Much construction going on, especially around front of rotunda. Noisy.

Slots are dead. No bells and whistles going off, no excitement. However, I do see employees cleaning machines after use. I do not play craps, poker, or other games, so can't attest to protocols for those.

Feel that they are following the rules. Have seen a couple of people who removed masks inside and they were spoken to.

All in all, I feel as safe here as anywhere else and I live at the beach.

Have safe and happy holidays!

Horrible odds

Experienced gamblers from the Vegas world will be sorely disappointed. Our third trip here and don’t see anyone hitting anything good. At least in Vegas they let you win periodically. It’s fun but only if you go in knowing you aren’t going to get any decent hits.

Harrahs Hotel of Filth

By odiemom |

Housekeeping needs to be retrained.
Our 2 Rooms were filthy, yes I said filthy. Never saw housekeeping three days we were there. Hall carpets filthy. Seems to be severe staffing shortage in all areas of hotel, restaurants and casino
Restaurants need to offer more variety for dairy free gluten free and vegan

Wont be back

By Momofjennifer |

Let me begin by saying that the property was beautiful and the staff was friendly. There are three things that will keep me from ever coming back; (1) food and drink prices were exorbitant, (2) the draw poker machines were set so tight that it only took about 30 minutes to go through the same amount of money that we would have spend hours playing with at any other casino we’ve ever been to and (3) when we went to valet to retrieve our vehicle, we were told that the valet charge was $12.00. I told the lady that we had never had to pay for valet before and she said that most casinos charge for valet. I respectfully told her that we have gambled all over the US (which is true) and we have NEVER had to pay for valet. She glared at me and said, “I’m not going to argue with you.” I replied that I was not being argumentative, just stating fact. Will not be back or recommend to anyone.

Harrahs in Cherokee NC.

By Johnson |

Until Caesars has a competitor near Cherokee things will never change. No competition means they do and say whatever they want. The top management from Brooks Robinson all the way down the line don't care. One day they will have comoetition and people will remember. The gambling here is one thing. It's a casino and you can't expect to win most of the time. Casino isn't built on winners. However, the machines at this property are much tighter than Caesars locations in Vegas,Tahoe, Biloxi, Tunica, Atlantic City, etc. No way they are being regulated the same since they are on a Indian reservation. The bigger concern is they have no appreciation for the seven star and diamond players they have much less anyone else. They know Biloxi 8 hours away is the closest competitor. The dealers, front desk and those type employees are great. The msnagement at the front desk, the pit bosses, the host and hostesses are bad. They do very little to build relationships with players and do the right thing. If something goes wrong it's a battle to get it fixed. Nobody should have to spend time arguing with management about doing what they say. If you offer something or Caesars offers something do it. No consistency either.I know more about Caesars total rewards than the people working the desk. If you are told the supervisor Keith Clark will take care of something you shouldn't have to follow up 3- 4 times. When you have the type turnover you have with host and hostess a problem exsist and Brooks Robinson needs to fix it. Chad is a great guy and the supervisor over the host and hostesses. However, they aren't performing up to standard. As the lady posted above the water went out for 14 hours on Tuesday- Wednesday. Things happen. I get it. However, if Harrahs- Caesars were concerned with customer service they would include with the updated message they left on everyone's telephone at the hotel enjoy a free movie or something for the inconvenience. Instead you do nothing.

Don’t waste your time

Fun times

By Janet S |

My husband and I went for a quick relaxing break and we had a wonderful time! We ate at the restaurant at the bowling alley and it was very good. Then we played a few slot machines. We didn't win anything but it was so much fun. We are coming back in March to celebrate a family members birthday! Can't wait:)

Poor Management and dirty

By Katherine Y |

This casino leaves little to offer. The tables are always full with waits. They hold spots for people when multiple people are waiting to sit down. I watched seated people not bet for several hands and the dealer not make them leave. A huge disappointment for anyone looking to have a good time. Money is lost by the company due to bad management practices, but I guess it doesn’t matter to them Efficiency would increase their bottom line if it even mattered. But apparently it doesn’t. The cleanliness protocols are stupid. You cannot sit down at a table behind a family member without waiting for it to wiped down yet no one is cleaning the machines and the bars have machines where you order drinks and I never once saw anyone wiping those down either. I will never go back. So much potential but a waste of time and money.

Never again

By Rachel F |

The worst experience we have ever had. We tried to check into the hotel and had reservations. Our toddler was having a melt down and there was an issue with our card that we would have had resolved by the morning. The clerk was very rude and said they don't accept cash because of Covid. She said we could sleep in our car and check in as late as 4am and that maybe our card would work then. She denied us speaking to anyone about it and we ended up canceling our reservation. We then went to our car with no hotel to go to after driving 5 hours. I called the hotel from the car to try and speak with someone else who might be able to help and they hung up on me. I will never recommend this horrible nasty place with the worst customer service ever! To tell a family with a tired toddler to sleep in the car! And to add the roads were horrible and it was the coldest night of the year so far. We ended up having to drive with a screaming toddler a couple hours back to stay with a friend. What a miserable experience. You couldn't pay us to stay there now. And smoking all over the place and was dirty.

No gaming commision

By Bobby S |

The wife and I came here and we had a similar casino experience with slots and auto roulette as the Indian casino in Florida. We won the first day and then the next day absolutely disgusting payouts. almost like the eye in the sky had profiled us and made sure we didn't win anything. We already knew what we getting into with the reviews of this casino being tight. So we didn't play a huge bankroll. These places with no gaming commission are just corrupt. Period. The Indians casinos have a license to steal. I told my wife this is the last time we go to an Indian casino. I even got a terrible line on my sports bet. -120 when it should have been -110. At least they couldn't rig that winning bet. My advice is to just go to the casinos with a state gaming commission and the 80-90% payouts. It's worth it if you have to spend the extra money getting there.

Zero customer service

By Bob C |

Zero customer service. From the moment I reached out to get more information on requirements and restrictions regarding new safety protocol. I should have known that they just aren’t trying to assist in anyway. So good luck moving forward with people potentially wanting to visit. Brutal management seems to trickle down to the whole place.

We do not plan a trip there again in the near future.

By Adventure09326488786 |

Not the place it used to be! Food was VERY pricey for what was available in casino and hotel. Rooms okay and clean. Shopping in casino and in town is typical vacation souvenir stuff. Good parking and valet service at hotel.

Best bet is the excellent pancake house! The CHEROKEE INDIAN RESERVATION and MUSEUM OFFERINGS AND TOURS ARE EXCELLENT! IN SUMMER THERE IS A POOL AND A FEW OTHER OFFERINGS AT HOTEL. CALL AHEAD TO BE SURE!

By lewisccc |

Had a blast. Love the place will hopefully will be back soon. I did not stay in the Casino hotel, we stayed off site.Place is easy to get too from parking deck. Elevators come right to casino and in you go.My wife's sister is pregnant so she was happy there was a non smoking section so that was a plus. Overall we were all pleased with our experience.

Not a good experience

By David W |

While a beautiful facility to visit, you will most likely be disappointed. If you gamble, you are going to be disappointed and leave hating the place. If you came to enjoy the facilities and setting, you will find it understaffed, dining facilities limited and lacking in every way. This is a big change from the past. It is very unfortunate and disappointing.

Fun! Fun! Fun!

By Carolyn W |

We always have fun playing the slots at Harrah's Cherokee! We know to not expect to win a fortune so we're not disappointed. We come here often for a day trip and have a great time. The staff are always nice and iinformative if we have a question. If you just want to have fun and aren't expecting to win a fortune, this is the place to come for a getaway!

Still a losing proposition; buyer beware; coronavirus awareness

By 323rebeccac |

On a whim and with nothing else to do, my husband and I drove over to the Cherokee casino to see what was new. They have some fun new machines since the last time we went, but I extend this word of great caution of buyer beware.

At first, we won a few bucks and were ahead a little. We are not big gamblers, so we don't win or lose a lot. We do, however, notice patterns in the overall casino in the slot machines. We notice not only whether we are winning or losing, we also notice whether other patrons are winning or losing. After a while, we could definitely tell the casino had really tightened down the slots. There were no more bonuses to be had and barely any matching symbols. It wasn't just us; it was everybody.

Just a few suggestions:

If you can't get a bonus and are only getting a few matching symbols, cash out and leave. Notice how other players are doing and realize the casino has tightened all of their machines and it's futile to keep on trying to win. Go to dinner, go for a drive. If you are still in the gambling mood, come back later to see if things have changed. If not, leave.

If you hear over the loud speaker something along the line of, "Players are winning! So and so won this much money," realize that it is a psychological ploy to keep you playing. Sure, some player may have won something somewhere, but that player is probably one of the few in the entire casino who has won. We have found that this announcement is made to keep people playing when the machines are really tight and giving out next to nothing overall. If you're not winning and most people around you are not winning in spite of this annoucement, it's because the machines have tightened up and they are trying to keep you playing even though it's a losing proposition on your part. This announcement is pure psychology to keep you playing. The odds of you being one of those who win are so extremely low, you might as well cash out and leave when you hear this announcement. You're not going to win.

It's fun to win and frustrating to lose. If you're ahead, cash out and leave. If you can't seem to get ahead, it's not just your bad luck. It's the casino controlling your luck and you need to get out as soon as possible. Cash out and leave. Don't let them control your fate. You're not going to be the exception when they control the reins.

Regarding the coronavirus:

This place is a potential hotbed for spread of disease. Everything is in close quarters next to other people. Although I didn't hear anyone cough or appear to be sick, if one person comes to the casino and has this virus, it would be nearly impossible not to spread it to a lot of people in this setting. A lot of older people - those most vulnerable to this disease - go to casinos, and that is extremely worrisome.

I saw one or two hand sanitizer stations, and that was all. I saw absolutely nobody cleaning the machines, and they were not very clean at all. People leave their empty or half empty drinks on the machines and there are very few people walking around to clean up. Ash trays are full and passed around.

If you do go to the casino (and I don't recommend it until this pandemic has passed), wash wash wash wash wash your hands a lot. Bring disposable gloves and change them out often. Never touch your face. Don't touch the door handles with your hands; use paper towels to touch anything in the restroom. Use your knuckles of touch elevator buttons.

When you get home (or back to your hotel room), wash your face and hands again thoroughly or better yet take a shower. Remove your shoes at the door and don't wear your shoes inside. Viruses can be on the bottom of your shoes. My husband put on gloves and cleaned the bottom of his shoes with a sanitizing wipe. Remove all clothing you wore at the casino and immediately wash them in the washing machine. I have a Baggallini purse I take to the casino that is machine washable, and I washed that, too. Remember that your purse is set down on possibly contaminated surfaces, too, keep that in mind when you go.

Be safe. Stay healthy.

Highly recommend!

did not stay in hotel

By spike9090 |

We did not stay at the hotel. Only visited the casino. All staff that we encountered was friendly. We only played slots. The have very few $0.25 slots. Almost all $0.01 and $1. The slots are stingy, so we both came back losers :(

Never coming back!

By Jennie & Kelly M |

We have been patronizing Harrahs for many years from Tahoe & Reno to Las Vegas & Cherokee and have NEVER experienced the cost of rooms and the tightness of the slots! Didn’t hear any hooping and hollering of winners at all in our stay and talked to several people who all said the same thing…trying to get their money back due to COVID19 absenteeism.it’s not just about winning, it’s about playing for a long time. Too bad, it used to be so much fun!

Fun Casino Nights

I went the first time to any Casino to Harrah's Cherokee. My husband and I went on a weekend getaway to a show (at the casino) and then we spent some time at the Casino. We really enjoyed it.

My Anniversary Nightmare

By Mela T |

I spend a lot of money with Caesar establishments and as a result I receive several offers for free rooms etc. Out of all my offers I choose to spend my very 1st anniversary at Harrahs in Cherokee NC. I arrived to check in and was informed the hotel had no water but it would be on at 10pm. Didn’t happen. The water didn’t come on until after 3am the next day. I also froze my entire stay. They have thermostat’s however no matter what you put it on it will stay at 71 degrees but the room felt more like 50 degrees. I also believe that they have cell phone jammers because you get no internet in the hotel or casino. You can purchase rom internet for $11. When I begin to cry my husband went down to the front desk and voiced his concern to the manager only to be told well your room was a comp and the only thing we can do for you is comp you a movie and the WiFi. Regardless to of my room was a comp or not. I have comps to Vegas with airfare, room and free slot play but I choose to spend my 1st anniversary at their establishment. The hotel workers are extremely rude. My husband even took our marriage license and showed the manager to no avail. I could use the bathroom, bathe anything and when the water did come on it looked like tea. For the entire hotel to have no water is highly unsanitary. MRSA, EColi, C-diff and numerous other infections possibly were spread to every guest that was there. My 1st anniversary was ruined thanks to them and no one cared.

A days fun place

By LydiaMiami |

The HarrahsCasino in Cherokee is a fun place. Its like an adult arcade. The slot machines are fun to play. Besides gambling, the casino offers lots of restaurants, food courts, bars and shops.
It's a fun place to spend the day. The landscaping is very pretty outside. Security is at its best here. All staff is very friendly. Casino is on an Indian reservation, so plenty of Native American decor. A great stop if you're near the Smoky Mountains.

Terrible

By Casey A |

DONT WASTE YOU TIME AND MONEY COMING HERE. Worst casino and dealers ever and you have ZERO percent chance of winning anything on your trip. Two dealers were telling me how they drive 4 hours to work and they hate it because of the low pay. They also told me the business made over 1 billion in profit last year and could be more under table. Terrible place!

Buffet

By Grace R |

Great. So sorry to miss it this trip. Hope it opens by fall. The expansion may make travel around the area a little busy but the food is so worth it.

Don’t be afraid to bring your kids

Both visits I’ve had were wonderful. Check in was easy and our room was clean. Everywhere except the casino floor are kid friendly and welcoming for toddlers and infants

Me Time

Great place to get away for quiet me time. Clean, comfortable, staff awesome. Just avoid the casino.

Ceasers?

By Jim M |

very nice casino, very clean, rooms just ok. house cleaning was none existent. the food court and food choices are limited. too crowded and kind of chaotic. most of the staff and dealers were not in uniform and dressed inappropriately. this is not sour grapes, just my experience.

Real Life Crooks

By gvemethreesteps |

This casino and Harrahs in Murphy are not regulated through a gaming commission so you will have a very slim chance of winning. They do not have a problem robbing you blind.

Host messed up our reservation

By William A |

The Cherokee Host that called me supposedly booked me and my wife a king suite with a sofa bed because we were bringing the kids. Drove 8 hours to get there. Showed up at 2:30 p.m and the room I was promised wasn’t available . Spent 40k there last year between me and my wife and this is how they treat us. Packed the car back up and went to the new Bristol casino which is going to be a hard rock in Virginia. It’s Not as big as Cherokee but still won $2500.00 which was good because Cherokee is the tightest casino around and is extremely hard to take home a profit.
Please Don’t lie to your customers if she just would have told me there was a chance I wouldn’t get the room I could have made different arrangements. It’s going to be hard to go back after this.
Thanks, William

Updating old 1 star review

By Earl Floyd, III |

Since my one star rating I have been here several times over the past couple of years. During this covid thing I’m impressed with the cleaning and safety measures that have been implemented. I’m completely comfortable being here.

Food is an important part of the gambling experience and food is Harrahs worst feature. Other than Ruth’s Chris steak House I eat at area restaurants, diners and cafés. The buffet was only open for five dinners a week and it was solid. But now it’s closed because of Covid.

Yesterday I won about 800 and lost 900. So for $100 I had an afternoon and evening of fun entertainment. What a value. Today I’ve won $200 and have lost $600. Not much fun and I’m in the room sulking about to enjoy my Jacuzzi whirlpool tub. So I guess I can’t complain as my rooms are comped. I can complain about my $10 Long Island Ice-T in the tiny cup, but it did have alcohol in it. Next time I’m bringing my own bottle.

The machines are tight like on the Las Vegas strip. But occasionally you can win, just not today. This place will never be five-star until they get better food options. But I will be back in October.

Have fun, but have a limit because they will take it all if you let them!!!!!!

By Kurt K |

I love driving up through the mountains to Cherokee. We hardly ever win and most of time end up funding their endless building projects. The mask police are in full effect so you have to make sure uncomfortable at all times to gamble. The machines can be very tight at certain times, so just pay attention if you were winning and all the sudden it stops then run they have flipped the switch on you. Also most of these machines don't warm up so if it starts out tight then in will remain tight until all your money is gone. Try to set a limit on how much you want to gamble or take out your cash from your bank in advance to avoid the $6 ATM fee. I have eaten at most places here and can't say that their is a place I would recommend. I have been going here for years, I think the part that brings me back is the mountain views and just the fact that I can getaway from GA for an afternoon or evening. I have lost more than my fair share hear and even won my first handpay here, but mostly lost money so don't expect to win. Set a limit and expect to have a good time trying to win, but be careful because they will flip that switch and no matter how much money you have it won't be enough to make you a winner.

High minimums and 6/5 blackjack

By william |

I'm from the east of N.C and wanted to find a casino near me. The only reason why I thought cherokee would be worth the trip is cause over the phone I was told they had 3/2 blackjack. When I get there the only 3/2 blackjack had $25 and above minimums. Even after being lied t I play roulette with $10 minimums. Now as of jan 20th the mins in roulette are $15.The final kick in the teeth after losing about $200 I only have $1 worth of comps. Scumist casino I ever went to. If you still want to give you cash to this place make sure you keep $300 you'll need it for the ride form the airport and back, yea rides to and from the airport something most casinos comp not here.

Some of the tightest slots

By TravelingBum10 |

We went twice to this casino while staying at Cherokee. The first night I lost $100 in a mater of 30 minutes. Played several different games. Not 1 ever gave me any bonuses or anything. The second night was just as bad. Lost $400 in 2 hours. The drinks cost around $5 for beer and $7-10 for spirits. There were a lot of people there. There’s a lot of different games to choose from. Just too bad that the machines are so tight.

By floornomad |

Place has the tightest tables and machines I’ve ever seen, and I’ve been visiting casinos for 30 plus years. I guess being the only casino within several hundred miles, they can get away with being somewhat corrupt. This is one player that realizes that he should just book a flight to Vegas.

Last minute getaway.

Beautiful hotel and casino located in a gorgeous setting. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, they really make your visit fun and exciting! There’s a large choice of games and machines to play and beautiful areas to relax and enjoy the view as well. Great food and bar service all in one place, even fun if you’re not winning!

Food

So I live 45 minutes away and overall I had a great time... BUT the noodle place was not up to par. The turnover was kind of fast but I got sesame chicken and no lie it was frozen chicken Nuggets with sauce and 20 bucks... the pot stickers were great but do not get chicken!! Was not impressed, next time I will wait for the food court pizza!!!

We won't be back.

By Megan C |

We won't be back. We came from out of state and were less then impressed with the gaming. I did really like the added cleanliness and screening procedures since Covid. I felt the casino was dark and the games were older. I did find a few "newer" games but you could not get on them. Also, I never once saw a server. I don't even know if they offer this service, since we never saw 1 in the 2 days we visited.

Good

By Betty J |

It depends on what slot you pick I go there at least once a month I win about every other visit won a bonus a month ago.my husband called me told me he just won 2.000 $ bonus so I go over sit down at machine next to him play while he is waiting to get paid I put money in and hit a bonus on my second spin of 1400$ .They don't give you much free play is true l am a diamond plus and I get 40$ that sucks.I go to Biloxi Mississippi I get 250$ plus free meals

BEWARE...They use dirty tactics

By Patrick S |

Players beware... they can do this to winning players that drink... sir we belive you had to much to drink and must stop playing... no I have not and argue your point then they can arrest you for disorderly and public drunk... very dirty way to back off winning players... I was Winning and they were serving me drinks. Get a tap on shoulder and they say sir to much to drink and forced me to stop playing. No warning and no drink limit. After I protested they arrested me for disorderly conduct and banned me from casino. I've seen very drunk people losing and they don't do this . The tribe casino has a license to steal in the state of NC. If you wanna play and drink then don't win and you'll be fine...win and don't say a word because they can always just arrested you for disorderly and set you up. If you win big don't drink and don't yell out of excitement and there's little they can do but maybe say sir we don't want your play. The Co at the jail told me they also did this to his son and the taxi drivers say same things happen and they don't go there for this reason

Fun place to spend an evening

By ddpayton89 |

We traveled specifically to come to the casino for one night. We didn't stay there but did come back the next morning for a short stint before heading home. The casino is a fun place to spend an evening. We aren't big spenders but we go knowing we are going to lose what we spend so we just count it as entertainment...like a beach trip. It is a very confusing space. Lots of slot machines and table games. The staff was very friendly but I guess because of the changes that came with the pandemic they have less staff. The last time we were there the waiters were coming by every little bit asking if you needed anything from the bar. The night and morning we were there I had one waiter come to me. I bought by diet pepsi at store there in the casino as it was much easier than waiting in the long line at the beverage kiosk. The water and soft drinks are free from there which is nice. Especially the water as it comes in a bottle. The Diet Pepsi is in a very small cup which who can complain since it's free...but buying it in the store just made more sense to me. If they had enough staff the free Pepsi would be awesome. The bathrooms are plentiful and clean. The food court is clean and mostly have just sandwiches. The line to get into the food court was very long way into the night. We ended up eating about 10pm or so. I think the next time we go to the casino I will make a reservation at one of the sit down restaurants so that we can get in and out in a reasonable time. I've got money to lose and don't want to spend extra time standing in line!! The valet service was nice but $20 is way too much to charge. The valet employees were great. Very friendly and efficient. We didn't have to wait but a few minutes both times we were there to get our vehicle and be on our way. It was a fun overnight trip and we will go again.

Stop over

By william k |

My wife wanted to sty here for a weekend and we loved it. The service was the best we have ever had at a casino. We had been to other Harrah's and the service and attitude was just so so. This location can't do enough to help. And for the first time we went home with more then we came with. We would recommend this Harrah's to anyone

An excellent family experience!

By williamaE9069BD |

I love going to Harrah's Cherokee casino. I love playing games like roulette and blackjack, plus I love playing the slot machines. I like to go with my family to get away for a while. It is a wonderful experience. There is a real thrill to gambling. Plus, the food is good too. Also, the staff is friendly and helpful. The gift shops and stores are nice as well. I just really enjoy myself.

Worse casino payout

Went with friends on July 3 played couple of hours but no win ....this casino are really greedy , all they want is your money . Got bonus with high bet and got $50 win thus is really disgusting me ....will have to stop going !!!

We only visited the casino. We did not stay in the hotel but I would love the opportunity to do so. It was very clean and I felt safe enough to venture out on my own and explore various areas of the casino

Horrible

By Billy G |

Hotel is ok. Game selection is good. Payback is the worst. Be prepared to lose your money each and every time you go. Without that much entertainment value.

All in all, a grand time.

By toma_svillesc |

After visiting the Asheville area over the past 11 years, my wife finally gave me permission to visit this casino to try our luck! We'd always enjoyed a few trips to Vegas years ago, and I could actually recall one time when I didn't lose all of my money LOL.

It was a bit difficult to find the correct parking garage, but parking was plentiful and convenient after we located it. The staff was very friendly, and we both had a great time despite both of us missing the "good ol' fashioned" slot machines!

My wife actually won quite nicely on the roulette wheel, and I even managed to not lose any money by not making stupid plays as had customarily been the case in Vegas. I wish there'd been $10 blackjack tables, but I suppose that's just not likely anymore since this is 2025 and not 1995!

I'm definitely looking forward to coming back again next year...with my wife's permission, of course! ;-)

Quality Has Gone downhill from years back

By njpickga |

The room was great. Mountain tower.
We have been coming here for a lot of years
Things are not as good as they used to be
The service while playing was almost none existent
The bathroom Men’s was messy Especially around the urinals
The prices are way too high
I really loved the buffet they used to have The grand buffet That was great
Gordon Ramsey is terrible The fish place is over priced garbage We had the shrimp and lobster Way too much breading
One piece of cake 12.00
The best place I have ever ate at was Earl of Sandwich
I don’t mined paying up if things are good
Upon check out no one was at the counter at 8:45 am a line was forming we waited 5-10 minutes before 2 people appeared I thought that was a little strange
It really is a nice Casino
They need to step up keeping it cleaner
I left with some money which was a plus
I will come back but I hope it doesn’t go down hill any further

Nice Break

By Mike D |

Wife & I with son & daughter-in-law had lunch here. Good sandwiches in the Food Court. Wife’s winnings at the Casino more than paid for our lunch while the rest of us were sightseeing in the hotel and surrounding streams. We’ll be back!

Robbed blind

Casino

By Jeffparker1 |

Learned the game of roulette. Made money playing the game. It was fun. Played a little black jack and slots. Too much smoke in the casino and drinks aren’t free. They did give me $50 free on a players card.

Disappointed

By Karen F |

The only reason I didn't select terrible is because the service we received at the pool, and restaurants within your Casino were very good......
From the start, Easy Check In with the kiosk, didn't work...no matter where or when we tried it.
The room my brother was given was supposed to be a Non-Smoking room(as he uses a breathing machine & has health issues). As soon as you opened the door, you could smell the smoke, and, there were 2 ash trays set out on the tables to use. I called to see about changing rooms for that reason & also, the room was such a long walk to get to and he has mobility issues.
We were told it wasn't a smoking room, ashtrays were a mistake , but they would send up someone with some sort of air machine that was to suck out the air and replace with fresher. When the employee walked in, he said "Yeah there was smoking in here" and then another couple of guests we met from the floor said there was smoking. Anyway, another room was offered, but still not a huge savings in steps for walking, so he decided to try some air freshener & stayed where he was.
I realize not everyone who goes/stays at the casino are elderly...but there sure are a TON.....and renting scooters, while a nice gesture...$60 a day? really?
The signange to tell you where you are or how to get to things is really, really, bad - and we, among others we talked to, wandered around several times, looking for things, taking wrong elevators.....I don't understand why there weren't more clear signs, or maps at elevators, saying you are here...etc
They do offer a map at the Rewards center....why that isn't given out at the front, totally blows my mind. That should be automatic.
The bed was comfortable....as I said, the people who worked at the pool (especially Napal (not sure of spelling) and at Brio's (Gina, maybe?) were very nice...
My brothers mobility issues are not your problem or responsibility, I get that, and the distance to get anywhere in such a HUGE building would definitely be a problem for us were we ever to come again....but we would not stay in the hotel again and wouldn't recommend it to others.
We had stayed at the Holiday Inn down the road, and the rooms were nicer, and less expensive (true didnt have as nice a pool) but that wasn't mainly why we stayed there....in the end, thats what saved the vacation.

Can’t believe I’m writing this

By Kent K |

Where do I begin at this pathetic resort. Checked in and had to get back in CAR to get to room. Every direction is met with distain and mileage. Yes mileage. Every restaurant has bar CLOSED. You can’t sit at a bar in casino and enjoy dinner. No one seems fazed. Literally worst casino I’ve EVER seen. Been all over and NC is toothless

Bye bye money!

By Bruce K |

This is a great casino. It takes your money faster than any casino we've ever been in. It has been this way for several years, yet me still return. Guess we, and all the others, just like seeing our money disappear rapidly! You lose so much so fast! Other casinos let you loose it slower, providing you with some entertainment.

Ruth Chris Steak House

By Land |

Ruth Chris Steak House - very understaffed - still blaming it on Covid. Wouldn’t take reservations even though there were 10 tables empty.

While waiting in line for the bar seat, a woman and her boyfriend cut in front of us to grab the only seat at the bar. When I talked with the manager, she was allowed to stay while we continued to wait our turn.

Then to make the matters worst, we had to sit across from them and eat our dinner.

Very poorly managed.

Beautiful

Absolutely beautiful casino and probably a great place to stay in the Smokies. Nice machines and tables but no free drinks.

Wonderful Experience

By Roger T |

Harrah's Cherokee Hotel and Casino provides an excellent Las Vegas style experience...complete with a nice selection of restaurants, table games and slot machines. I also enjoyed the Poker Room. The dealers and casino employees were friendly and efficient. I will go back!

Casino Impressions

By kenelliott821 |

We stopped mid trip back to Florida for a little R&R. The room was very clean and comfortable. The food court was very clean and very good social distancing. The check in, onto the casino was floor, was very thorough. They checked temperatures and gave you masks if you didn’t one.
The only thing that caught my attention BIG TIME was that with all the great cleanliness of the room, lobby, and surrounding areas... THE ONE THING I did not see was cleaning of the slots. I was very bothered that I did not see anyone cleaning and wiping down the slots. They had wipes for you to clean yourself. But again, other than myself, I saw no one wiping or cleaning any area that is touched frequently.

By David H |

While visiting Asheville, I decided to make the drive to Harrah's to play some blackjack. Prior to the visit I was unable to find good information about the Blackjack rules and conditions. Below you will find the conditions for the main casino not the high limit area which I didn't visit. These observations were made mid-week late in the morning. I did not stay at the hotel.

1) $15 minimum table 6 to 5 payout on blackjacks, hit soft 17's, split Aces once, double on any 2 cards, double after split.

2) $25 minimum table same as above but 3 to 2 payout on blackjacks.

3) Must play double bet to play 2 hands

The casino is quite nice. We had an enjoyable lunch at the Brios Tuscan Grill. The cocktail waitress was very friendly.

Once the new casino opens at Kings Mountain, this casino may have to improve rules to be more competitive.

Two Visits and Three Royal Flushes

By smcgrady01 |

My last two-night stays at Harrah Cherokee Casino in North Carolina produced a total of three Royal Flushes. I hit one each night during the Christmas holiday trip; playing on the new All-Star Poker machines. During my recent visit I hit another Royal Flush on a new GameKing video poker machine located near the Rushing River Bar. I spend most of my time at the eight machines located here, and was happy to see that all of the previous run-down GameKings had been replaced. I was also happy to see that the pay tables remained the same (such as 8/5 for Jacks or Better). I have had to adjust to the red-headed stepchild treatment at various casinos since switching from slots to video poker 14 months ago. I really like video poker, so I take playing in out-of-the-way corners on rundown machines in stride. In the last year or so Harrah’s has significantly upgraded and added new slots to the casino floor. As I video poker player, I was happy to see that they did not forget us.

Nice Visit

By Sootsgd |

This was our third trip to the Cherokee Casino as a couple and I had one solo visit before that. We spent two nights in the hotel which I reviewed separately. We were able to visit the casino about three times during our two night stay. Wife made a nice bit of cash which she used to buy some boots at the clothing store on-site. I made a good bit of money the last time I was here but came up short being saved on the last night here just not enough to come even. But hey, it’s a casino and we know the odds and this is entertainment after all.

We live in Florida near the Seminole Hard Rock Casino which is the third largest casino in the country. I would say that Harrahs Cherokee is as nice of a casino and has a huge selection of games. The Caesar’s rewards are better than that of the Seminole casinos and we did use our comps for food. We were also comped one night stay which could have been up to three if we had stayed on different days. I know some people believe they do better if they don’t use their card. That’s a fallacy and it is illegal for any casino to do so. Read the gaming laws in any state. If you use your card you can receive comps as I have for many years and have made use of the comps in three different states.

So we had a good stay but wish I had won a bit more, but who doesn’t.

WINNER !

Always fun to win. Masked and social distancing marked and encouraged. No admission without mask and temperature check. Well acclimated to the Sars-cov19 threat while maintaining the exciting environment.

Harrah's Cherokee casino

Maybe the casino would try to give people a little money to have them want to come back! Instead they just take people's money that they have worked hard for!!! I will never come back!

Tight

Haven’t won here in years. Machines are a lot tighter. Made my last donation to the Cherokee. Making plans to go elsewhere on the next trip

Best Casino Option in the South

We really love this casino for a large variety of slots and table games. Great well run WSOP circuit events and the noodle bar is very very good. Trust me to pass on Ruth’s Chris. Not worth the money. Much better elsewhere.

Clean Casino

By seekingpeace |

We were impressed with how clean the casino was. Lots of machines to sit at and spaced apart just right. We went two nights during our stay. The first night we did not see anyone hit anything significant. The second night we saw a woman hit over $4000.

Fun fun fun

By morganp14 |

I always enjoy coming to the casino. I usually play the penny slots. Sometimes i go home with more than i take and sometimes i go home broke.

Fun & Safe

By Kelly |

The casino takes COVID precautions to ensure guests are safe and have fun!
The casino is normally smoking friendly, but during these times, there is no smoking except for a designated area. Masks are required- if you do not have one, the casino will provide you with one upon entry. You will also get your temperature checked. Not all machines will be on to encourage social distancing.
The temporary main entrance of the casino is through the parking garage.

casino visit

By Joel W |

The casino was very clean and the dealers at the tables were very friendly and made the craps table fun. We were there on a Thursday night and there were 3 craps tables going and all were 15-dollar tables. Would love to see at least 1 10 dollar table. The negative with the trip was the slot machines. I have never seen tighter machines. You could just throw your money in the river when you get there and save yourself a lot of frustrations.

Disappointed with Harrah’s

By Jennifer s |

We stayed at Harrahs in Cherokee Oct/2023. Having never been we expected for 350$ a night that we would enjoy the resort. We were wrong ! The town of Cherokee was beautiful and we enjoyed the scenery but the hotel , we won’t stay at again. The food was overpriced in the Gordon Ramsey food court and not worth the price at all!!!! The stores inside of the hotel kept strange hours and the Dunkin Coffee was located in the furthest area of the hotel and their hours were 11pm-7am and it was self serve. The employees were tired and not very nice . LONG walks to get anywhere !!!! The outside areas of the main entrances were dirty! The details are important and seeing these areas not being kept clean is a sign of lack of good management. Lights were out, cigarette butts EVERYWHERE , dirty hallways from the night before , sloppy table hosts as far as dress attire , tight tight slot machines , broken slot machines , broken ATM machines , cashier windows closed throughout the hotel , so you’d have to walk FAR to the ONLY ONE that would be open , over priced food , homeless people bothering you at the slots and outside , parking garages felt unsafe and dirty , elevators dirty , the walking to get to something you’d be interested in and it be closed or broken. Overall our experience wasn’t what we thought it would be for 350$ a night . We’ve been to Vegas several times and the lack of competition (other casinos) is the reason I feel most of these things are the way they are at Harrahs. “Oh you don’t like this casino , ok , go next door to the other casino “ …. “Ohhhh there isn’t one” … we won’t be returning to Harrahs. We will continue to go to Vegas . Disappointing bc NC is beautiful!

DON'T GO!!! REPEAT....... DON"T GO

By rittdw |

DON"T GO if you do, don't stay overnight.... The last two visits have been horrible unless you don't eat or drink Brown Bag it We went on a Thurs nite 6-8-23. Casino was slow, staff pleasant, rooms clean. Restaraunt are non-exsistent. Brio was closed for no apparent reason, Ruth Chris was too busy to take reservations, Wolf Gang garbage food area had long lines for overpriced food. Guy Firos could seat you if you wanted to want 45mins for a half empty restaraunt (to be seated). Been there and done that on last trip and waited 60mins to be served after ordering The Wicked Weed could seat you BUT everyone who had been seated had no food on the quest tables. Waitress was honest and said it would be awhile to be served. Noodle Bar which is alway decent had a line down the hallway.

Bar service had lines 6-8 people deep. They had a decent band but two bartenders served the entire bar; which closed about 10pm (for $9 well drinks) and the band till 11pm. Bring your own booze and treck backand forth to your room for quicker service. Another staff said they usually had 3 bartenders, She noted if you know a bartender who likes to take abuse they had openings. (felt sorry for her).

The Food and Beverage manger shouuld be hung out to dry. never had we expereinced a worse run casino, sporting event or even a wedding staffed with your friend Bubba, brother in law.. We ended up eating an undercooked 14in pizza for $22.

BTW We did have a good nite on the tables $700+ So I am trying to be fair and honest. We go for the entire experince not just gambling. So like I mentioned if thats all your looking GO. You can only imagine how nasty this review would be if we hadn't won; which is usally the case.

Finally I don't know which law or regulation agency is enforced there but you can only buy a drink for yourself. So if you and your partner both want a drink either you both go (leave the tables) or one person will stand in line for a total of 45-60min. I won't blame the F&B Manager on that riduculous rule as nobody but the Government could implement a rule like that... Must be a Federal LAW!

Horrible gambling!

On vacation in the Great Smokey Mountains and love to gamble a little. Stopped by and was so impressed. Very clean facility, nice staff. Well maintained. And the place does not reek of cigarette smoke. I enjoyed myself, spent my budget. Glad I stopped and visited it.

Bad and putting it mildly

By William G |

Hello fellow casino goers, I visit Harrahs Cherokee 3 to 4 times a years . This was the the absolute worst. This was the second time since COViID . The first time they were limiting the number of people they allowed in the casino so they said. They were limiting the number of players at table games blackjack, roulette. Poker. Ok kewl this time I go 18-21 feb 2021 they are letting any and everyone in the casino with table restrictions be ing enforced so you have all these people in the casino , no social distancing Standing around because only 3 people can play blackjack or roulette at a time. That
is just part of the problem they constantly raise table limits. No grandfathering allowed. This is a strategy they use to get people to get up from the table the faster you loose money the next looser can set down. I am sure they have lost business but more thought needs to be put into how the casino is being run during this time. All they care about is let’s pack them all in here and they spend money on food, drinks over priced hotel room more drinks and for get they are their for enjoyment, New Casino in Kings Mountain will be in a better location other things to do around the casino malls etc. Harrahs future may be that of a retirement home. Want be going back . Lets all not go for 6 months and see what happens pass the word we all have to do it.

Fun but so confusing

We went with our two teenage daughters and enjoyed our trip. The bowling alley and arcade are a great idea. I felt no guilt for leaving them to go to the casino floor. The arcade was not huge but it was enough to keep them entertained for a couple of hours. There was a lot of bowling lanes and a very nice enclosed room with lots of seating. We looked online for a map to make parking and finding the arcade easier but no dice. This place is huge and has extremely poor signage. It's very hard to figure out where you need to go. Security officers were very helpful and polite however. The shops were awful and generic. I would definitely go again as I had a tremendous amount of fun. I took along a nice outfit as I didn't want to look too casual but you don't need to dress. Lots of shorts and flip flops on the floor. People at the tables were a little more upscale but I didn't want to play at 15 dollars a hand for blackjack. We found about 6 blackjack machines and truly enjoyed those. Beer was only 5 dollars but circulating servers hard to find. Be aware that most patrons have a bit of a trashy vibe but it is not unsafe. Obviously everyone is being watched.

Glamour and luxury in Cherokee

This place is beautiful! There are restaurants, bowling, a spa, and a beautiful casino. We are definitely coming back in the winter!

Semi retired and finicial stable Harrahs offers so much fun and entertainment for me and my wife, also bring friends up as well..Going to hit that Bowling area soon .. Sitting at home every weekend wasn't getting it..I prefer to come up Mon.- Thursday, not as crowded..Thanks Again!!

I'll skip it next time

By Love to go places |

We went to get a card and the cashier did not give me a PIN number, I had to go all the way back and she told me I didn't need it but she could give me one anyway... everyone else had one, I didn't know what was up, just a hassle to have to walk all the way back there to get it. I got one drink and it was awful, the bartender offered to get me something else and it was better but just ok. We had fun walking around and watching people play the tables, we played and won some lost some. Not our thing to begin with, but just had to drop in and see it for ourselves. I was hoping they would have a show we could catch. The restaurant we wanted to eat at had a long line so we left for dinner. Overall it was ok.

Great Time.

By Sootsgd |

I had visted here once before in early 2019 with no covid restrictions. Even with the restrictions I had a great time. My wife and I were traveling back to Indiana from Florida and took this route home so we could visit the resort. I got to play the slots and she opted to stay in the room since she was tired from traveling.

Now I had read a lot of negative reviews about how tight the machines were. Well they weren’t for me or lots of people I saw. Lots of winning. When I was in the high limit slot machine room there was a bank of 4 machines in a carousel and three of the players were getting hand pays. I also saw handpays on the main floor.

The place is huge. We visted the Seminole Hard Rock in Tampa while there and they boast about 1,000 more slots than Harrahs but I found it hard to believe. And the slot selection was just as good if not better.

I played about 3 hours and left with more than I came with. I really hope I get a chance for a longer stay at the hotel next year. I’ll definitely hit the casino a few times. I recommend it.

Disappointed

By Michele P |

I have been to Vegas and also to Atlantic City at the Trump Hotel several years ago.
For our Anniversary my husband and I went to Harrahs in Cherokee this past week.
What a difference. Both Atlantic City and Vegas were much cheaper and you could actually win.Not at Harrahs. It appears they are just out to take all of your money with no return.Very tight machines.
Everything at Harrah's was very expensive, including the room which I might add had horrible box springs that made a terrible noise every time you moved. There was also a metal piece sticking out of the bed that my husband caught and cut his leg on.Coffee was not replenished in the room as advertised.
They had good restaurants, however most were not open and what was open had a long line and was very pricey.

Was surprised

By dan p |

After reading everyone's reviews I was very hesitant to stop here. The first time we stopped I was breaking even figured it to be same as most casinos. First I am a small time player playing minimum bets on cheaper machines as in the 30 to 60 cent range. Well i hit a jackpot on a 50 cent bet and walked out with $$$$. So yes we would go back at a different time. The second time I tripled my money that i took to gamble with.
So two visits in one year made us happy. Its not close to us but worth stopping in when we are in area. Just received a complimentary room for 2020 so will go back.

Crappy, no winning, no smoking anywhere, and pay for your own drinks

By Brian R |

I have been going to Cherokee casino even before they were bought out by Harrahs, at least since 1996. They have changed and seem all about the money now. NO smoking in casino, anywhere. It's a casino people, there should be smoking. And no free drinks. You expect people to spend thousands of dollars and you won't let them smoke and have to pay for their drinks. No. I am not going back here ever again, same goes for Harrah's Biloxi and Harrah's New Orleans. They are all crappy. They give you hardly any comps too. I am also a member at MGM and they give us hundreds of dollars of comps every month. Harrahs? Like 20 dollars. No thanks. MGM lets me smoke too.

Disgusting. Don't waste your time and money

By Paige M |

Let me start this out with the only decent part of this trip are the dealers. Tim, Brenda and Kimberly were Amazing. The only thing this establishment has going for them is the personalities of the dealers. Anyways we have been coming to this specific establishment for years. Amongst attending other harrahs resorts this has always been the most pleasing until the last few visits. Made a reservation a week ahead of time and specifically asked for a room in the old towers given the fact that we've been in the new hotels that they built and they are by far Inferior to the older part. Why? I'm not sure. You'd think you'd build something new it would be better but it's not and this
Specific visit just proves me right. Not only have we gambled a good amount at this location but they gave our reservation away without even calling us but then gave us a room with no TV ( pictures attached and honestly been in some sketchy places that still provide the least amenities) we went down to gamble and spend money.... the high limits bathroom was absolutely disgusting. Three separate restrooms were Nasty beyond description. One had straight urine all over the seat. The next had a wine glass broken all over the floor and the handicap bathroom which I attempted to resort to had cigarette burns on the toilet seat. Is this a private restroom where you'd expect to be able to use under the circumstances that you are spending thousands on the table games? I don't understand how this establishment has become so utterly disgusting. This has nothing to do with the staff. This is upper management and owners in my opinion. If you are going to drive more than 30 miles to visit this establishment I'd say it isn't worth your time or money. This place is slowly going down the crap hole and it obviously shows. They have gotten rid of more than half of their food court and probably treat their remaining staff like trash. I TIP well and sincerely hope that this specific establishment treats their employees well Because it's the only thing holding them up.

Clean, Friendly, Low Key, Ample Parking, Enjoyable

By MargaretL750 |

Stopped in while in-route to larger sister property. Enjoyed ourselves. Parking was wide open, but we were there on a Thursday morning. Multiple table games with at least 4 to 5 roulette wheels. Two of the tables were open. $15 minimum. NFL themed - Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons - nice touch for something different. Dealers were friendly and well trained. Non-smoking, ventilation system is first class. Didn't stay overnight, but wouldn't hesitate to do so. The drive between the two properties (approximately 1 hour) through the Nantahala is AMAZING!

By kisstina21 |

Did not stay but the casino was great! Everyone was helpful. Great food and I recommend the Buffet..servers were nice and the customer service was excellent. I would visit again and stay in the hotel.

Horrible experience

By Anna B |

The rooms were clean and neat. The casino was a disaster, all the machines started going out and had to be cashed out by hand by employees so you had to sit at the machine waiting for a cash payout, we waited up to 2 hours at one machine for a cash out so I had my hubby sit and tried another machine and it crashed too what a mess. We gave up and went to bed, tried again the next morning but many of the machines were out of order. Pay outs were low and not very frequent. We will not be returning.

Why go anywhere else

I and my partner are always treated great. They have great food choices. Nice rooms. Rain or shine a fun place to be.

$15 minimum at your tables no good

By Dan G |

I live close enough to drive to both Murphy and Cherokee. I am retired after selling my business of more than 40 years.
That said I do have a comment that I hope you pass along to your higher up staff.

A $15 minimum at your table especially Mississippi has stopped me and most all my friends to fly to Biloxi MS where we can play a $5 minimum. If we bet to see all 3 community at your casino's it cost us $60 vs $20 in Biloxi. Thanks Caesars for the Free flights for us until you all miss us.

Horrible

By StephenpNY |

What a massive disappointment. There were over TWO hour waits at the restaurants, the drinks on the casino floor were NOT FREE and quite expensive (contrary to nearly every other other casino on the planet), the valet cost was 20 dollars...I could go on. Did I mention that the slots paid back very little? The place takes and takes and gives so little back as far as casinos go. Never again. Take your money and head to Vegas where you feel like youre getting something...anything back except frustration and that feeling of being taken advantage of. Terrible experience.

Don't stay at the new hotel

By Kenneth S |

Was booked for two nights in the new tower for a conference at the hotel. Terrible experience overall... Got to the hotel and couldn't check in at the express machines (was told that my card was didn't have the same name as my ID... which is not true...). I tried to check in at one of the desks (there are no signs on how to get to Tower 4) and was told that I was not able to check in at that desk and that I had to walk for a mile to get to my tower (again... no signs anywhere and I parked at the only place in the whole casino that said hotel parking). Once I finally get to my tower and checked in, I go to my room and the TV was not working. I called the front desk and was told that someone would call me back to fix it... no one showed up. Since the front desk would not respond I also contacted Caesars and the hotel twitter accounts (got no reply from Harrah's until I had already left even though they say they have "live support online"). After not getting any help I went to sleep that night but ended up having 3 FIRE ALARMS! All alarms even said to not leave the room and that they were checking on it!!! Ended up being nothing, but after 3 fire alarms in a span of an hour and a half at midnight you can imagine that not much sleep happened that night.

With all of that... on my second night I tried getting room service for dinner. I saw on the TV (that still couldn't show any live TV) that they had a menu there and called the phone number to get dinner. The voice message I got was that they were open until midnight that day and to leave a phone number to get a call back. Did it 3 times and never got any replies or call backs. I also called the front desk and no one replied (around 9pm).

So at the end there was really bad customer service, and the only excuse I got in a reply two days after leaving was that it was a new tower. No apologies or even a comment saying that they were trying to fix it. They only said that the tower is new and hope to see me again in the future... All of this while there was on going construction during the conference to the point in which even construction workers would try to access our conference rooms to do work while sessions were in place. They knew about the conference for a long time and told the organizers the hotel would be ready for it. Even had to wait around 20 min in the morning at the hotel Starbucks since they decided to clean the machines right when everyone is ordering coffee at 7:30am!

Please do not stay on this side of the hotel. No clue how things work in other towers, but things on this side were issues after issues!

Big Bang For The Buck

I've been coming here for many years. I finally became a Diamond member, and boy was that an amazing experience. While on the slot floor, VIP staff Christian and Debbie checked on me to see if I needed anything while on my complimentary 3 day visit. It was such a good feeling to have someone take time to great you and make you feel comfortable. I was celebrating 35 years with my company and wanted some R n R. Other staff were also kind and I must say it was a spectacular time had. Kudos to Cherokee Harrah's. Looking forward to my next visit.

This is huge. There is lots of parking, food places and variety of foods. I love the stacker slot. But not so loose. Will go back with my rewards for free rooms and slot money. The rewards are worth it

Stingy Comps!

By Travelin' M |

We stayed at Harrah's Cherokee Thanksgiving 2019. We are Seven Star Members and have NEVER received such stingy and horrible service from our host(s). Our host refused to comp even a dollar! And senior management never returned our call. When we told them we would not return to this property, the host(s) didn't seem to care at all. Guess business is good. I can tell you, however, they will NEVER receive another dime from us!

Love the casino.

I highly suggest if you havent been to the casino please do so its amazing!I promise you don't wanna miss it.

The cigarette smoke will kill you. Not a place for non-smokers. Don't enforce their own rules

By Rachel S |

My husband and I visited this past weekend and we could not enjoy ourselves for the fog of cigarette smoke permeating through out the building. You can smell it as soon as you enter and it gets stronger as you move about the casino. There are designated areas that say no smoking, but smokers do not abide by this and smoke everywhere in the facility. We had driven a long way so we stayed for a few hours. By the time we left, our throats were burning, our eyes were red and watery, and we couldn't stand the smell of your clothing and hair. We had to shower immediately after leaving and felt the effects of the cigarette smoke exposure for days after. Non-smokers should not have to be exposed to this carcinogen when your establishment does not enforce their own non-smoking policies. Why not have designated areas outside the casino area for those who want to smoke instead of making all of us suffer?

Just okay

By DennisT |

A decent hotel. The room was nice, albeit overpriced (jr suite). Housekeeping was non existent. In 3 days, they showed up once and only to refreshed the towels and dump the trash cans.

The restaurants were ok. The Brio was decent, not great. The Gordon Ramsey food court was a bit of a disappointment. The Guy Fiery restaurant was good.

Believe it or not the best meal we had was at a local establishment named Granny’s Kitchen. A surprisingly very good buffet.

Casino was heavily weighted to the house.

The surrounding area is nice. The Blue Ridge Parkway access was great. The locals were friendly.

Not sure I’ll be back.

Best overall casino bar none. Yes, that includes Vegas, Fallon or Tampa.

By Billy B |

My favorite casino, I moved away from the area but this place to me is #1 thanks Niles, now go to Tampa, OK but not the same. If I'm ever in the area again that's my goto place!

Didn’t stay here.

By Momspeed12 |

We were traveling on Thanksgiving, This hotel was sold out, so we chose a hotel that was close and made plans to eat here upon arrival (as everything else around was closed). We called to make sure we could get to the food court with our young daughter and was assured there would be no issue. As we entered the hotel we were approached by security that we could not get to the food court as it is in a 21 and over section. (Brilliant planning Harrahs). Obviously we had been told incorrectly when we inquired initially. So we were given an option of a “sports bar” (yeah. Because that is kid friendly!) or we can send 1 adult in for takeout. We reluctantly chose to do the takeout (while the other 2 waited outside in the cold) as we didn’t want the smoke overload in the sports bar.

Although I realize this isn’t a destination for children; a little bit of architectural planning could have made this a bit more friendly for families traveling through. Instead, I won’t be back in the future to see what Harrahs Cherokee has to offer. If the BASIC dining options are this backwards, I don’t feel the rest of the establishment deserves my business either.

First time at Harrah's Casino. Even on a Tuesday evening it was crowded and a little overwhelming. Video slot machines do not appeal to me. Food options were over priced.

Great Casino/Resort

This was a great place to go for a couple. Big casino with all the games you would want to play. Very good poker room with daily tournaments.
The staff were very helpful and always with a smile. It is a big place bring your walking shoes.

Nice getaway - huge facility

By Kara M |

Three day stay overlapped St. Patrick's Day. I mention this because that day's experience was different from the other two. There was a promotional drawing that evening so the casino was really packed (social distancing pretty much impossible). It exacerbated the fact that there really aren't enough quick food options, particularly on crowded days. This was compounded by the Pizzeria Uno not being "manned" around dinner time so the wait in the Johnny Rockets line was a solid half hour. I assume that many people visited the buffet pre-COVID but assuming it will remain closed for quite some time there really needs to be thought in expanding choices. Also, I guess because it was so crowded that day the slots were beyond TIGHT. I mean nothing...no bonuses, no free spins, overhead many people echoing that sentiment. The other two days were noticeably different, so you cannot tell me mgmt does not adjust payout patterns as desired. Ate one evening at Brio which had a nice ambiance with delicious food. Also had a very pleasant lunch at Selu Garden Cafe. There is a huge variety of games available from slots to table games. Masking was enforced with temperatures taken upon entry. The only other comment, and this relates to the facility not just casino is better signage is needed! This place (including hotel) is huge and it is easy to get disoriented. Also, please please please continue with a no smoking policy in the casino once COVID has passed. This would be the determinant as to whether I would return again.

Some days are good and some days are bad. That's what gambling is. It depends on what you enjoy playing. I play the poker slots and Keno. I have checked the whole casino out and love what I see.

A very friendly and welcoming place to do some gambling - if you are so inclined. The staff are extremely and accommodating. The Harrah’s/Caesar’s Award Program also provides good promotions.

Don't waste your money! Believe the bad reviews on here! I wish we had!

Raise the RTP! Machines are so tight, nobody was winning anything. We read the same bad reviews here, should have heeded the warnings! Spent almost $500 for NOTHING. Played max bet a lot, too! Still nothing!

Be prepared to wait

By Clt29 |

It shouldn’t take 20 mins to get a freaking drink in a casino.
This place is not equipped to handle busy times. I spent more time waiting in lines to get refreshments or food than I did anything else. Forget going to the events center. It took 30 mins to get a beer and popcorn. On the floor, good luck finding a table open for ANYTHING and be prepared for lines 20+ people deep at every “beverage” center on the floor.
And god forbid you need to stand in line for their rewards club desk. There are only 2 in the whole place and that was another 50-75+ person line that took 40 mins to get thru. This place apparently can’t staff for busy times

Nice cozy getaway, with big fun!

By Sherisse A |

This casino offers alot. There is splash of shopping, with a Pandora vendor being inside the casino. There is also a food court, the buffet was closed due to Covid-19 Guidelines. I was appreciative of the measures taken to cut down on COVID-19–there was social distance being practiced on the gambling floor and in the lines.

Not bad to visit one time

By happy2review |

Having visited many other casinos across the country, we were excited to try this one in North Carolina. The drive to the casino was a bit daunting going through the steep winding Smoky Mountains on an extremely rainy day but it was also kind of fun at the same time.

When we arrived, although it did seem crowded, it didn't take us long to find parking. I did think the parking facility could have been laid out much better because it took us a minute or two to figure out where we had to go after we parked. There was definitely a lack of signage to help with this.

The elevator situation was ridiculous. On the one hand, it is very good that they only want 4 people in an elevator at one time given the current situation with the pandemic. On the other hand, when you have one or two elevators running and a huge line of people waiting to get in, it becomes an issue. People were getting anxious and moody. It took us a very long time to get on an elevator and to get to the actual casino area. Once we were on the elevator, it would go all the way up and then come all the way back down.

Once we got to the casino area, the line was tremendous. No-one was practicing social distancing even though there were clear markers on the floor showing where each person should be standing. It was difficult with so many people.

The line did move rather quickly despite the amount of people waiting and despite each person getting their temperature checked and a wrist band placed on them. I didn't think it made much sense for someone to be touching your forehead with the thermometer after they just touched the person in front of you. They were not using it properly and were actually touching your forehead with it and not keeping it at a distance. It also did not make sense for them to be holding the wrist bands (no gloves by the way) and putting it on you because that was definitely not practicing social distancing. They did have sanitizing towels available in the casino. Most people had masks on.

The casino is not laid out well. There were penny machines mixed in with dollar machines and in other casinos we have visited, there is usually a sign somewhere letting you know where the quarter machines, five dollar machines (etc.) are. This was just a hodge podge of everything thrown together in every area.

The food court situation was also not laid out well. We went to the shortest line for Chicago Uno Pizza and there was only one person working, taking orders, making pizzas and expediting everything. The tables in the seating area were laid out well allowing for plenty of room between diners.

This seems like it could be a nice place if it were laid out better. We had a couple of hours of fun. All in all, we will not be returning but I am glad we got a chance to visit.

By Ambassador792901 |

Trip was really good- didn’t win but maybe next time.
We enjoyed Brio dining out . Met a lot of gamblers some friendly, some not. I really enjoyed my stay why should I write 200 words if I don’t have much to say. What do you want me to do lie? I have never heard of a mandatory two hundred word review. Kiddie game me right ?
Thanks

Huge And Clean Casino

By Judy W |

Very impressed with this Casino, too bad that roads to get there were winding and narrow roads. But, the casino was very clean: social distance, not on Saturday night!! We watched a Football game on Sunday night and that was very nice. Three movie size screens and very comfortable chairs. A ton of awesome slots, a great variety. I saw a lot of people getting paid off for jackpots!! The food court had a nice selection.

Do not keep playing points active but 6 months, this is not fair!

By Betty D |

Your money here is only good for 6 months to get points toward a free stay! Most Casinos do not let your points expire! Their machines were way to close and they did not make people wear mask!

Visit

By April T |

Very disappointed that the arcade, outdoor pool and bowling ally closed. Very few choices for food for children under age. Also Harrahs needs to stop with the ridiculous wrist bands for temperature and wearing masks when most mandates have been lifted...

weekend visit

By Joel W |

We did not stay at Harrah's but we were at the casino on 5/20. The casino was very clean and the people working the craps tables were very friendly and helped out when they could. The things that did not meet my expectations were the following.
The coupons they mail you can only be used on live table games and only on bets where the house has a better advantage.
The walkway beside the river between the hotel and casino is a great place to enjoy the view. But what does Harrah's do they make this their smoking area. I went out there and had to go back in due to the smoke. The smoking area should be as far away from this place as possible.
I never saw a craps table on Saturday or Sunday morning with less than a 25 dollar minimum bet. I will not play a 25-dollar table so I played the roll to win and bubble craps games.
Last while playing roll to win craps players would lean their chairs on the computer screens and I saw one person gone for over an hour. Normally they could be gone for 30 minutes while people were standing there wanting to play.
The biggest postive at the casino is NO SMOKING

Ridiculous table minimums!

By Kimberly G |

A $15 minimum to play a hand of black jack is a rip off. It was certainly not a place to just have fun. I guess I’m spoiled having lived within driving distance of Vegas.

By Christian V |

This casino is very clean with a lot of options for gambling. The people were very friendly. There are many options to choose from for eating. I did not stay there however I did look at a room to stay here in the future.

Lousy

By Bill M |

The game room is nice, clean and smoke free with lots of games but the staff was indifferent to rude. We left the game room spending only about half the money we allotted for gambling. First time that has ever happened to us.

We stayed overnight and the room was beautiful but the furniture was extremely uncomfortable with the exception of the bed. We thought about just checking out and going over to an Asheville hotel but decided we would just stick it out here and leave early since we both had 2 drinks in the casino.

There aren't really any other attractions in the are so if you want a break from the casino, you're out of luck.

Overall, the experience was pretty lousy for us and we love Vegas, French lick, casinos on cruises, etc.

I really wanted to love this place since we live just outside charlotte and this was only 2.5 hour drive but it's been permanently removed from future gambling excursions.

Wait till after COVID

By Bobby F |

Ruth Chris was nice and the hotel room was nice. The casino is not good in that due to Covid, you wear mask all the time, 50% of the slots are shut down, and you have to go outside to smoke. Drink waitresses are not around very much. I’m a seven stars and my wife is a diamond. I will not be back until this gets back to where it was. In their defense, they are doing what they are told. With that said, I have a choice and I choose not to go until this COVID thing goes away. We did consider ourselves safe and protected from COVID and the safety precautions in place are adequate.

Pleasing overnight excursion in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic :-)

By MsmoDMV |

As we are in the midst of a pandemic, a friend and I needed a break from the norm. We have taken covid very seriously. In learning that this casino had reopened, we did our homework to find out what safety measures were in place. For safety purposes we traveled mid-week and kept our masks on for the entire five hours in the car! We also stayed at a hotel within two miles of the casino due to not wanting to pay the cost of staying in the casino hotel - and to decrease the number of people that we would be around.

We were happy to find that the casino:
Strictly required face masks for ALL visitors
Monitored face masks compliance (if someone took it off their mouth or nose, they were approached by security)
Had one way in and one way out
Required temperature checks upon arrival
Required all visitors to obtain a wrist band to be in the casino
Had gloves and hand sanitizer available upon entry and throughout the casino
Instituted separation between gamblers on tables and slots either through the removal of chairs or shutting down machines and/or partitions
Had a very limited smoking area, that was avoidable; I'm not sure if it is always like this but it was a nice bonus!

I honestly felt safer in the casino than my regular grocery store runs at home (where safety measures aren't enforced)!

We visited the casino in the early afternoon on a Thursday. It seems that the casino became more crowded upon the approach of evening. I would have been comfortable remaining into the night with the safety measures that were in place. However, we didn't want to press our luck on our first venture out during the pandemic.

I've read reviews where folks complained about a lack of food and other activity options upon the casino opening back up...really?! I'm happy to be able to get my slot fix on as we have so few options for entertainment during these times. I feel that the food court area options were sufficient. We had hoped to find an outdoor breakfast place to eat before leaving Cherokee but we were unsuccessful in our search.

All-in-all, I expect that we will be living under these conditions throughout the remainder of the year. As I'm not spending disposable income in any other way, I will definitely return to the casino again during this pandemic, as long as they keep their protocol in place! Even though it would be less time to get to the DC area casinos, the ride through the mountains was well worth it...make sure to pick a beautiful day!

Unfortunate Service/Experience with NYE event

By B A |

My husband and I have been going to Cherokee for 3 years now, pretty much monthly or more. We meet another friend there. We booked NYE after being invited to their VIP dinner event. I used their text system, but it did not log my reservations for dinner, and did for our friends. So we're out dinner at this late date and the executive host did NOTHING to accommodate. Wouldn't comp $100 dinner at one of their restaurants, couldn't get us into the NYE event. He said they don't like this text system, others had problems, yet did NOTHING to make up for it. Even though I had my texts. Very unfortunate service after spending so much money there every month.

My son and I spent 800.on the slots and took no money home
Slots are too tight.if you do win ,it's 5 cents or 10 cents.most of the machines are the same you need 6 things on 1 screen to win.will not be going back there to lose more money.I go to casinos in different places and by far this was the worse.

This is the only elevator that will take u to the casino floor if you have breathing problems or a wheelchair. Its It's only in use 3om-11pm. If u miss it you will be walking the whole top level to get on the escalator. If your in a wheelchair, idk how it would be possible to get to the Casino floor. Shame on you Cherokee. This is discrimination at it's worst. I didn't notice the sign yesterday Sunday. This is awful.

Horrible slot game playing

By ROBERT J |

A much better gaming experience is needed. Slot play was horrible 0n 08/17/2021 and many of the customers were not happy at all. Many machines not even going into a bonus play. Payouts were small and no big winners were talked about over their intercom system. My own play was way off on many of the machines that i played on. One must understand that they just went thru a huge expansion and they have to get that money back. Also the food court on the casino floor is a horrible excuse for the quality of the food being served there. I suggest that you eat before coming to play in the casino.

Blackjack conditions at the Casino

By David H |

The casino is quite large with a huge assortment of machines. Blackjack is my game, and I found it to be underwhelming. There were $15 tables that paid 6 to 5 on blackjacks and $25 tables that paid the traditional 3 to 2 on blackjacks. Each of these games were dealt from a 6 deck shoe. There were no double deck tables available which was very dissappointing. The high limit area table had a $50 minimum. The dealers were very friendly, but I can't say the same for the pit bosses. My bets were not tracked well by the pit bosses which led to paltry comps. All of my play appeared to be rated at the minimum $25 bet even though I raised my bets several times. Most but not all of the pit bosses paid little attention to the tables. I did, however, get a decent comp on the room rate.

Worst pit boss I’ve encountered!

By Darrin |

My wife and I visited the casino to celebrate my birthday. We frequent this casino on a regular bases. I’ve lost hundreds of thousands over the last few years but that really doesn’t bother me. What does is being treated like a degenerate from a casino pit boss named Cathia in the high limit blackjack room. We were playing as normal and I was taking a beating like I usually do and I made a harmless comment about the dealer being a company man. He thought it was funny along with the rest of the table and apparently I stepped over the line when I asked him if his grandfather owned the casino. Cathia immediately jumped me and said that was the rudest thing she had ever heard and I needed to apologize immediately. I did as she said numerous times and it wasn’t good enough for her. She had her boss come out and stare at me for whatever reason like I was a common criminal. I mentioned to my wife that I would love to have the CEO as my grandfather but apparently she must hate this man. Or maybe she hates all whites men, not sure, but she wouldn’t let it go. My wife suggested we leave the table because no customer should be treated like this. She humiliated, embarrassed and threatened me for no apparent reason. I’ve tried getting a host for 4 months to no avail, so I decided this is the only way to get my voice heard. Seven stars means nothing to the employees running the tables in this casino. The pit bosses treat you like the scum of the earth! I decided to give up all my perks and NEVER return to this casino again. I have many gambling choices and Harrah’s isn’t going to be one of them. # 10701018064

Tons to do

By Amber j |

Of course tons of gambling, all types. Bowling and arcade. Great bowling deals. Tons of food options. Plenty of beverage areas. Nice staff. Plenty parking

The hotel beds were stink the room was dirty the breakfast was worse than take out.

By Geraldine K |

It was a nice scenic trip but the hotel was not what I had. Expected. It was terrible
Service was nondescript at the hotel. It was horrible. We stayed out later to not come back . They finally cleaned the room after waiting 2 hours. It was not as clean as I would have liked so I cleaned it myself. Poor service. I used to be a housekeeper for Hampton inn I never would have left a room in that state. When a room isn't used for a day you always do a check to make sure it's always clean.

Charge too much to credit card and terrible customer service

By Sean |

We stayed at Harrah’s Cherokee 3.11.21 and 3.12.21. The rate for 3.11.21, was $117.00 and 3.12.21 was comped.

To date, my credit card has been charged a total of $975.95. The charge should have been NO MORE THAN $132.69 (for 3.11.21) plus whatever the charge was for a movie ($19.00 maximum) watched during the stay.

There have been NO CREDITS WHATSOEVER issued to his card – not even the $50.00 deposits.

Over the last week we have been assured credits in multiple different amounts were being issued back to this credit card but have yet to see ONE -- only more charges!

The customer service has been absolutely terrible!! They have been telling me for over a week that they are fixing the issue but instead they hit me with another charge of $265.00.

If you plan to stay at this casino pay very close attention to your credit card statement. If you have a billing error to resolve, you are in for a long frustrating process with people that are rude and don't care about the disposition they but you in.

By susielovesbob |

We did not stay in the hotel. We had lots of fun playing in the casino. Lunch was delicious and there was a variety. We liked the option of playing in a nonsmoking section as well. Everything was clean and pleasant.

HORRIBLE SLOT PLAY on many of there machines. Small winnings to say the least.

By ROBERT J |

New expansion issues and horrible gaming issues on the floor. This casino is doing a huge expansion and the people that visit and play in the casino, are really paying for this out of there pockets. The slots are just not hitting and going into the free games. you are paying out a hole lot more out of your pocket and this VIRUS isn't helping at all by having many of the machines shut down for the social distancing that is required. My advice to all is to wait until next year when this expansion is finished.

A Huge Casino

By Mixa's Travels |

After playing the Sequoyah National Golf Course we stopped for dinner and take our chance at the Casino. This is a HUGE Casino. The self parking was easy on a Tuesday late afternoon. Challenge was food - the nice restaurants are not open during weekdays for dinner. After following signs to dining we found the restaurants and buffet closed. The facility is big and no directories or staff to ask for directions or assistance. A lot if walking and frustration. Finally the Valet staff referred us to Brio’s Tuscan in the Casino. There we got on the list for a 1 hour wait. Having drinks we learned you could sit at the bar for dinner. After about 20 minutes we were able to sit at the bar to order dinner. In the Casino my husband liked the electronic black Jack with a live dealer. All playing on the electronic live dealer bet minimum $5 so all playing off same hand. I played penny slots. Many slots were not working properly - no lights showing on buttons to know what betting or even how to bet or cash out. We still made the most of the experience.

Disappointed

By coachshane88 |

So my wife and I decided to check out the Casino while spending the weekend in Cherokee N.C. We had to park in the parking deck and walk in due to construction and no Valet parking possibly due to Covid-19 restrictions. We got in and masks on renewed our players cards. We were excited as we headed down the escalator especially since they now had table games new since our last visit many years ago. We were disappointed that we found no $5 blackjack table and only 2 $5 Craps tables in which one was totally electronic. My wife got on a slot machine and lost $20 in about 22 spins. It was a penny machine but had to play .88 cents every time. She won a few along the way but not enough to cover her loss every punch of the button. We may give it another shot again in the future.

All the fun you can stand

Watch the credits and take wins when they come. Set your limits and enjoy the entertainment. Great shows and food. Lots of options.

First time was not a charm here!

By 86DWC |

I don't know where they get these employees, but nobody is really in the mood to help anybody on the casino floor. They looked at me like I was rude when I flagged them down. Then they showed me I could do it on the machine itself. This was my first time here. They advertise both when you check in and get free drinks that are non-alcoholic. However, in the nighttime on the weekday, I found out that was hard to do. I was on a Tuesday night, and there was one bartender for the whole place in a circular motion. The Pepsi and Mountain Dew tasted like crap. The lady didn't seem to care she was more interested in serving alcohol. The security guards were about the best in the building he actually told me I could go over to the beverage station even though it was closed. If it wasn't for that, I would have thirst to death. The bartenders only seem to be concerned with the drinking customers. I really thought it was going to be a better experience when we checked in. The lady was absolutely wonderful setting us up for the first time gambling. After that, everything went downhill. I think they need more people around the gaming machines to help people during the week. It felt like we were on an island coming on a Tuesday night late. Beverages were hard to get to that you said were free. Machines were dirty with lots of handprints. My wife's machine malfunctioned, but one of the few game attendants did help her get her money out of it. I would say that for my first time here, it was a poor experience. I will, however, give your bowling alley about four stars it wasn't bad but kind of pricey for just bowling. I think $5 a game is a little crazy. I think that should be the weekend price. I think through the week, it should be around no more than $4 a game. I am a regular bowler, and most regular bowlers bowl at least four games just to get warmed up. Beverages and snacks were very nice at the bowling alley, probably one of the better priced restaurants than the whole casino.

Gordon Ramsay should be ashamed .

By Alec P |

So, I understand no alcohol after 2a.m. That’s the law or whatever … But !!
I was denied the ability to purchase a scoop of ice-cream from Boy George in the @gordonramsay food court while he literally is selling pastries and coffee over top of the ice cream freezer because it wasn’t 11:00 am . On what earth does it seem practical to refuse the sale of a scoop of ice cream at 10:45 am to a Diamond elite rewards member ? Isn’t the point of being in business to make money ?
Whoever made that rule shouldn’t have a job . And whoever enforces that rule should get a life and a better job .
I bet hard rock or two kings would gladly sell a scoop of ice cream at ANY hour of the day!

Husband had fun gambling but still lost

By Sue L |

In all the years my husband has gone to Harrah's casino during our visits to Cherokee, he has only won one time and grateful he quit. Since then, he goes with a limited amount of "fun" money to play with and always comes out empty handed but generally with a smile on his face because he had fun.

Good trip

By Sootsgd |

Visited the resort and stayed three nights. Hit the casino each night.

👉 Casino is Huge with lots of slots and table games and a high stakes room.

👉 Casino is now non-smoking with a smoking room.

👉 Free soda and coffee near the High stakes room near VIP Services.

👉 I saw lots of hand pays unfortunately I wasn’t one of the recipients.

👉 Good selection of slots both old and new. You’re sure to find a favorite. Even have lower denomination pennies if you’re not looking to spend a lot.

Good Visit

Greedy, even for a casino

By Johnny E |

We made reservations for a weekday stay, hoping to play craps. I specifically asked about the minimum bets and was assured there were $10 games like our trip just months prior. On arrival, however, the lowest minimum bet was $15 during the week! One manager said weekends were usually only $25 or higher craps tables. I was also told that there hadn't been any $10 games in a year, which was a straight up lie.

This casino is greedy and only interested in high rollers. With no competition around, they can kick us low rollers to the curb. Management didn't care at all when told they wouldn't be getting any money and we wouldn't be coming back because of their disdain toward players at the lower bet levels. In their words, high rollers are better players.

Other craps info that has been consistently bad at this location: 5% vig on buy bets is paid up front instead of just on wins (greedy). Field bets only pay double for both 2 and 12 (greedy).

The only semi-bright spot is 10x odds.

Just make sure you have your ID

By sherellp2016 |

Just make sure you have your identification. As you should anyway. You will not be allowed on the casino room floor.

Fun for a few hours!

By Dreamer66621457402 |

The mountains were beautiful and we spent a couple of hours at the casino. For the first time taking our grandson, who graduated from college two days prior, we had a good time. He learned how fast money can be lost ! A good lesson and we dont need to go back. We ate at the Weed restaurant and it was just ok.

No Jackpot for me

By Sherri0512 |

Beautiful Casino. Pleasant staff easy access just terrible weather. And won nothing 🥲. All in all fun and interesting.

Fun time in the Casino- felt pretty safe amid Covid-19.

By Rima S |

They were very careful about Covid 19- temperature checks, only one entrance to get wristband, social distancing, Masks were required.

BEST GUEST PROTECTION FOR TIME DURING COVID!

By dkinney2010 |

Can't say enough about the lengths Harrah's Resort and Casino has taken to keep everyone safe. Before you can leave your car and enter the property you must have your TEMP TAKEN and answer a few brief questions. The people that do it are meticulous; but they make the experience fun with little jokes and everyone likes their job and are happy! Even when our car was VALET PARKED; the entire seats and head rests were covered with plastic & removed when you needed your car. Stayed at hotel for 4 nights and found perfection at every turn. Poker players: NO WORRIES! Everything is sanitized before you sit down; the chairs, the rail and YOUR OWN HANDS are sprayed by the Dealers. Cards are auto shuffled and leave upon each new dealers arrival. Masks are mandatory. A special crew is there to make sure Masks are worn properly. It is a lovely hotel... the rooms comfy....the STAFF so friendly! Management is striving to protect guests & are doing a great job! WILL BE BACK! We drove up from Florida...so glad we did!

Good Experience

By Cliff C |

I played mainly the slots when I was there from 7/19-7/21/20 and I appreciated the safety measures that have been taken. The slots seemed tight to me, I am a novice but when I went there in Sept last year they were looser for me and the people I was with. There is a 4 way live game, a combo of black jack, roulette, baccarat and 1 other that combines a live dealer with video and a timer to bet for each game that we checked out and played a bit that we will absolutely play more next time.My 1 complaint is with the drink stations that aren't "bars"right now. It would be better if there was a place to buy beer only instead of mixed drinks as beer takes way less time to serve and pay for. But overall we had a great time! The staff at the casino were very helpful and accomidating.

Hidden Gem tucked away in Smoky Mountains.

By HartmanFamily |

We were driving through the area and came across the hotel/casino. Very friendly staff. Lots of restaurants within the hotel. Kid friendly area that includes arcade, bowling, smaller pool.

My only complaint is smoking allowed in some parts of the hotel (not in casino). When travelling from room to lobby, entertainment floors, the smell was overwhelming.

Fun

By michroot |

My family of adults went to the casino for a day trip and to eat at casino. We gambled mostly on the slot machines and it was fun with no big wins but no big loses. We ate at the Selu Garden Cafe for lunch and it was great with individually made sandwiches and a salad and soup bar.

most recent trip was on laurie maddox's bus trip with friends.

By gladyspatterson |

wasn't long enough !! The staff is great ,every thing is clean also plenty of food choices. Mrs. maddox really takes care of her tour people in our group of friends we had an amputee that had never visited a casino (my brother in law) another had recently broken his hip she made sure they were seated up front and saw them safely on and off the bus .SHE GETS A BIG THANKS FROM US.

Fun times great music venue

By Mark M |

Went to see REO Speedwagon in the event center. Very good music venue and enjoyed the casino also. Live roulette blackjack craps and poker. Plus so many slots to play. Staff very friendly good service just wished they had a map of the casino floor and also where to find certain machines. Overall good experience

By getaccessorized |

If you are an individual who has breathing issues, COPD, sinus problems - be aware this is not a smoke free casino and they allow cigar and cigarette smoking. These individual do not care that they are causing individuals to get ill from there terrible habits and will constantly just smoke in your face with no consideration. Its a shame that there cant be a smoke free casino in Cherokee.

Great time

By Stephanie M |

i dont play but went in with friends/family. The line to get in moved very fast. They are taking the steps to insure everyone's safety during this pandemic. Even with handing out mask, checking temperatures, and ID, it takes no time to get inside. The facilities are extremely clean and this includes the restroom!!!! Servers are steady moving around to take orders or help with any needs you might have.

Great craps tables and dealers!

By Neo617 |

Guys trip during the off season. Monday/Tuesday night stay. Arrived Monday and was able to check in at 10 am! Meet the boys and headed in. Had a great time. Friendly dealers and they knew their stuff. Had a newer dealer Monday night but she had a great personality and snorted a lot when she laughed so the learning big curve never bothered me. The water did go out on Tuesday but thankfully I had showered ahead of that and was never inconvenienced. Got lucky I guess.

They had a live dice digital table that was 5 dollar minimum with 5x odds. Real tables were 10 dollars and up with 10x odds. They had crapless craps, but no thanks. Again, great crew of dealers that were quick with the action and full of personality. Will definitely be back betting the hard 9 for the dealers. 👍🏻

Tight Slots

By laura s |

Slot machines tightest I’ve ever seen. Was there an entire afternoon and no one was winning. Last summer they were at least decent, not this year. Go to Seminole in Florida all winter and they are much better. Save your money.

Tight machines an understatement

By Paulette H |

This casino is TIGHT! Loosening up the machines, even a little bit, would make it more enjoyable. Food court filthy at night. Apparently understaffed? Casino floor staff were nice, helpful and casino kept much cleaner than the food court. A lot of hand sanitizer around as well as wipes you can use for the machine if you wish.

Good options, bigger than expected.

By rickbrennanrn |

A little off because of Covid, but at least they were open. Table games were hard to get onto because of very reduced seating. Poker room was cash only, no tournaments. Had to wait for about 90 minutes to get onto table last day. Slots were slots, they ate all of my wife's money.

Group Luncheon was Outstanding!

By Teresa G |

Over the years I have attended many business luncheons. They are all pretty similar in my memory. This week I attended a business meeting and luncheon at Harrah s Cherokee and was impressed.

The buffet included chicken, sialmon, two types of salad, au graten potatoes, mixed sauteed vegetables and dessert.

The chicken, potatoes, and chocolate dessert were outstanding. It was a very nice meal.

If you are checking out banquet venues in WNC, put Harrahs on your list.

Nice job HCCasino. Congrats to your dining staff.

fun and good people work there.

By Don S |

We've been a few times. The place is hopping and really well done. Last week we did a show and it was pretty packed. Went to several restaurants on and off site in the town.
We drive up from ATL and our only complaint is with arriving early. There's a huge check in fee for coming early. We, on occasion, will stay in the Murphy Harrah's and drive over to Cherokee but can't check in until 4pm. Well you could but it's 20.00 for each early hour. So we drive over at 11 from Murphy (their check out time) and unless we pay for 4 hrs (80.00) you can't check in. I know it's business but come on folks aren't they killing it at the casino? Please don't lie. So you can pay. leave your bags in the car or check them with the bag service. Then go spend a thousand in the casino............... I think all the Harrah's are like this.

Awesome

By Gail L |

Love this place. Resort is beautiful. Hotel if during weekdays is reasonable. Even if you don't gamble it's an awesome place to stay for a mountain trip. I like to do both. I play the penny machines etc. It's fun and occasionally I leave with a little extra money in my pocket.lol

Great time at Harrahs Thanksgiving Weekend 2020

By FHawley Forence SC |

My Sister and I had visited the Mountains October 29th, 2020 and I wanted to stop by to see Harrahs coming back home. I was very impressed and so I planned a weekend the day after Thanksgiving with my finance'. We used the Valet Parking and they came to our car to check our temperature as they checked us in.
Everything was so nice; No smoking (thank goodness), hand sanitizer everywhere, our room was clean, nice and big!( wished I had a microwave in the room ) Friendly people and I even won some money. Yeah ! So much fun and now I want to go back. They took great precautions for the COVID Virus and everyone wore their masks. I have terrible allergies so I would be happy if they never let people smoke in an enclosed environment again. It was nice and I did not smell smoke!
I have a friend who goes there, Vegas and Mississippi so she met us in Cherokee which made our first trip more fun! She was able to give us the tour first. We live in the same town so maybe she will go back with us soon!

Perfect Location and Venue

Perfect setting; thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Plenty of activity for everyone with excellent selection of dining. It was a rainy stay, but the atmosphere here helped disguise the dreary weather.

Getting worse by the day

By ajones0455 |

This is my opinion so take it with a grain of salt. As we're frequent quests to this casino they have now made it hard to get comped rooms. They are slowly causing a rift with their repeat customers. The slots are really tight and have been for months. I've heard and talked to other people that play at the card tables how rude dealers are. The drink girls are non existent. And I would guess with all the construction going on is why they've tightened everything. Not good for business.

Slot machines

By Pamela H |

The slots were looser this trip than I had experienced or expected. This casino is still the toughest to win that I've ever played. Which is why this trip was the 1st for us in about 3 yrs or so.
One nice thing is that the non smoking section has been enlarged!

BEWARE! Not COVID friendly

By Qwest6715 |

BEWARE!10 out of 11 hand sanitizers not working in casino?Machines are not being sanitized? Also Table games usage is over populated as the casino was?GOD HELP US AND OTHER HERE! Was staying a week leaving next day!!!!!!!!ONLY POSITIVE THING MASK CONTROL WAS FAIR!!!

Casino in Cherokee

By Trabo50 |

It’s not Vegas but having said that it’s much bigger than I expected. Loads of different slots and various tables with varying limits both minimum and maximum. Easy access easy to cash out if u happen to win. 🤣 worth a visit if your anywhere near. We called in for a night as part of our road trip.

Slots were paying off like crazy, my small investment of $90.00 yield over $800.00. Paid for my vacation, for sure.

Not impressed

By Joseybelle |

Very big and very confusing to navigate. Large gaming floor. Lost $200.00 bucks pretty quick at the blackjack table. $25.00 a hand buy in is a little steep.
Seemed to be lots of food choices. Drinks very expensive.
Lots of poverty in the surrounding area and several closed businesses.
Won't be on our places to stop list next visit to the smokie mountains.

poor experience at the GR food court

By JD R |

Went to see Ron White. Had a good time at the show and in the casino, but had a poor experience at the new GR food court...we ate there 2 times, once at the street burger and once at the bake and brew...the pricing was ok but that was all that was ok, the burger was under cooked, not very big, and even though the fries were just out of the fryer, they were hard and cold as soon as i started eating them.

The next morning at the bake and brew, the menu board's are in different locations so we didn't see all the stuff that was available, but it seems to be trying to be too high class and don't have any basic stuff, like blueberry, banana nut muffins or cheese danish-what they do have has stuff like orange topping, etc. The bagel we got was over toasted and very hard and dry and tough to chew, even with cream cheese on it, it just wasn't very good at all...The coffee had lots of grounds(and other stuff) floating in it when i took off the cover...i took it back and the 3 girls working in that area who were standing there just talking ignored me so after 2-3 minutes, i went around to the front. That girl said 'its just grounds', I asked for another cup, she poured it, looked at it, then started another pot, tried 3 times, kept pouring the coffee out, finally i said just give me a fountain drink. Obviously the coffee maker needed TO BE CLEANED but she didn't get it, so i guess others were served from the same nasty coffeemaker. I bet GR would not be happy if he got this kind of food and service out somewhere!

Best things are gone

I visited before COVID, visited again July 2024, the Harrah's is the same except for the restaurant they use to have, I was really disappointed it was gone The food was great and there was a great assortment.

Very large casino

By ManningAvenger |

It was a long walk from the parking garage to the casino in a circular mode. The casino offers many games from slots to poker to roulette. They even have a sports betting room. Probably the closest casino to Charlotte and Atlanta.

Casino was huge but our room was crappy.

By Judith K |

We stayed at Cherokee casino for 2 nights. We stayed in the Soco tower. The room was nothing like the picture that we saw online. We booked a king size bed room with view and was so very disappointed with what the room actually looked like. There was no bedspread, no carpeting and our room never got cleaned. We did not get a room with a view like we booked. The toilet seat was cracked and the closet door hinges were broken. Just to name a few of the problems with the room. We ate at Brio Restaurant and not a lot to offer on the menu. The food (calamari) that my husband ordered was uneatable. We ordered breakfast through room service and food was cold nor would we recommend staying there. I doubt if we will ever stay there again.

Pitiful.

By kathy g |

If I could give a negative number, I would… They close the food court, and opened the Gordon Ramsay food court thing. Had to wait 20 minutes before we were allowed in, now, we’ve been in line for nearly an hour trying to order, still at least 15 people in front of us. If I was Gordon Ramsay, I would be embarrassed to have my name associated with this. This is by far the biggest cluster I have ever seen in any Caesars property.

No reason to go

By leighea |

The only thing good about this casino is the casino floor itself. The restaurants and shops are way overpriced for only mediocre product if that. This is the only attraction and almost the only decent looking building in the whole town that we could find. The rest of the town is run down and appears to be a junkyard or a garbage pit with nothing to do.

By Helen S |

Did not stay in Hotel because my wife and I live close by. We have visited Casinos in several different cities over the years and still prefer Cherokee to any of them. Hopefully they will update the rest of the Casino when the Sports Book is complete

Poor Customer Service /Racism

By Zandra C |

Well for one the supervisors don’t know how to talk to you .They called security the casino worker had already told her her side then she confronted me and called the head manager assuming name Eich he swore to talk to all parties involved .Thru practice racism heavily .Another guy came over who was on crutches and approached and it is not what you say to an individual ;it is how you say it.It ruined my whole night where I couldn’t gamble no more .

OUR BEST WIN EVER

By BARL |

This trip to Cherokee in July was exceptional. We were playing some relatively new slots in the casino when suddenly the machine maxed out and paid the grand prize. Very few people ever hit this type of win on any machine. We ended up on this particular trip of a couple of days with three handpays. We also had a great room and very good food at Brios and the restaurant called Selu's Garden. The service at the restaurants was exceptional. This was hands down the best win we ever had.

Three card Poker!

By jds754 |

I like a big casino and this one was no disappointment. The health screening was very thorough and once completed, you got an arm band for admittance. The live card tables were limited to three people each so you had to wait your turn. The ten dollar ante was kinda steep but it was fun to play. I lost a little bit of cash because I didn’t walk away when I was ahead and that’s my fault.

Shame on Loverboy and Harrah’s

By Malinda S |

Was supposed to see Loverboy and night ranger. We drove 2 hours spent $200 and after waiting 25 minutes after it was auto start they say a couple of the band members couldn’t make it that night ranger agreed to play longer. Night ranger did a good job but very disappointed we wasn’t given a refund. They knew way before the concert they wasn’t going to be there.

Very nice high end casino

By Michael G |

The casino was very nice. It's huge and it's non smoking so that was huge for our group. The sportsbook is really nice, like Vegas quality. All the food options you could ever want. For the non smoking alone I'd go back to this casino even though I didn't have any luck

I trusted Valet with my vehicle to find my interior dash camera to was disconnected.

Why are you touching a safety feature? What do you have to hide? What if something happened to my property? Were you going thru my vehicle or smelling my seats?!? There is ZERO EXCUSE

I will be installing a hidden dashcam cause this is absolutely insane.

day trip to play some slots. Did not stay at hotel. Ate a restaurant by bowling alley. Parking was easy. We did not win any money but had a nice time. Easy drive from Asheville, North Carolina. Will visit again.

Great casino reasonable payouts with te slot machines

By Douglas M. L |

Great smoke free casino and resort the main restaurant is on the second floor of the casino and it has a great view of the smoky mts The service is good and the prices are for for a moderate priced venue the circular bar on the first floor is really well designed and is also well serviced

Horrible experience! Returning Customer are NOT important!!!

To whom it may concern...
Anyone gambling be sure to keep your eyes on your machine at all times. I was playing on a machine then turned around to play another machine and was talking to the lady whom had just got off the machine. I turned around and a man was playing my machine with my money in it. After a brief chase thru the casino (for a 2nd time), my husband caught up to him by the bus entrance. He was advised by the casino host to let the man go. My husband did let him go.

The really bad part about this is that the casino did not give me back my $94. After reviewing the tapes they said they could not identify the man. The Casino host had spoken with the man for about .5-10 minute when he was caught the 1st time. They said they would have to get my money back from the man in order to pay me back my money.

I called and left a voicemail on GM Brooks Robinson voicemail. He forwarded it to the head of security. I finally spoke with the head of security David Smoker, whom promised to get back with me. That was 3 weeks ago, still haven’t heard back from him. Now when I call for Mr Robinson, I’m given the run around. I called to speak with Brooks Robinson and was given the run around. Finally spoke with a Sherri, she said Mr Robinson doesn’t take those kind of calls. That was 10 days ago, she said the will have security call me. No one has called back yet. That’s the last dime of my money Harrahs Cherokee will ever get! This is how they treat their customers... so beware!!!

Updates badly needed

I was invited by a Diamond Elite member and had never been to a casino before so I went.
Not sure how the status thing works but I was thinking diamond elite would be a few stars above motel6.
The good:
The place seemed empty
Nice restaurants (high end $$$$)
Nice shops
Comfy bed with extra pillows

The bad:
Rooms are old, dated with beat up furniture and in need of a painting and carpeting
Shower flooded bath first night there
Pool is inadequate for amount of people, no chairs available (unless you rent a cabana)

Overall
I will try another casino next time if this is the Diamond Elite status.

Floor people at Casino

By Cindy F |

My husband and I have visited over 100 casinos and the floor people at Cherokee are by far the worst. Zero personality and absolutely no interpersonal skills.

If you like being ignored...

Very poor 7star experience. Showed up and room had been canceled. Took 3 days to get reimbursed for flights. Limited, expensive food choices. Gorden, you better check how your food is being prepared. Of course, no housekeeping. Player escorted by employee to smoke in the high limit men's room.
Won't be back.

Beautiful Facility, wonderful employees, great experience.

I stopped in because I had an extra day while staying in Asheville. The casino was clean, personable staff and a good selection of video poker games.

I spent the entirety of my afternoon in the high limit room- drink service was regular and payouts were quick and all were super friendly.

I was surprised because most casinos are very smoky- this wasn’t. I can’t even smell it on my clothes which is unusual, even in Las Vegas.

I’d go back and might do just that before I leave later this week.

The casino is a great place to visit and play ! Harrahs Cherokee at first o thought it was to big for me but it’s marked on the floor how to get around . Staff is awesome and very helpful . Went with friends was supposed to have a room but ended up sleeping in my van . I would 100 percent recommend going to this casino if you want to play and have fun ! 5 star atmosphere with a 1 star budget at the time . Thanks to all at this casino ! You were great to play didn’t win but what an awesome time money lasted a long time here !

stay far away

By Companion445665 |

to who it may concern stay as far away from Harrah's Cherokee casino as possible unless you only like losing money payouts are awful used to have winners posted everywhere now all that happens is 7 star players being evicted for being upset over table and slot play never have I saw a casino which engulfs hundred dollar bills so quickly and often doesn't pay anything on free spins in bonus play. the only competition in NC is the other Harrah's casino .I would advise another place Las Vegas or Atlantic city and by my personal experiences would avoid Harrah's and their sister properties. personally can't wait for two kings casino to open and have somewhere new in NC maybe some competition will help Harrah's in Murphy and Cherokee to rethink the more management tight machines and more management and poor comps
