My VACATION March 2022

By battlebertha |

Wonderful visit at Castello de Amarosa. Called in that morning and was able to set up an appointment to get in the same day. One person greeted us at the entry and we had our wine tasting they were professional and pleasant to work with. I purchased probably more than 12 bottles of wine to share with other people as gifts also got souvenirs for everyone. Thank you very much for the wonderful greeting and care you gave to myself and my friend traveling to visit there.🍷🤗

Perfect picture stop!

By KrissyandCody |

Celebrated my 40th bday in wine country and I am so glad we stopped here! This place is amazing! The castle is so cool, really feels like you are in the old century. We made a tasting reso then got to walk around a bit for pictures.
Our wine pourer was great as well, very knowledgeable and super friendly, Dominico.
I really loved the wine also, shipping me home a 6 pack and I am excited to sip on it again.

Best Vineyard in Napa

By Stacey L |

We had the best experience at Castello di Amorosa. The castle was amazing however the wine was the best we have ever had. It ruined all of our experience at the other wineries. The wine is so smooth full body beautiful legs everything you would want in a wine. Highly recommend and can’t wait to enjoy here in Indy. Will be purchasing this again. ❤️❤️❤️

A private and pleasant experience.

By Francisco D |

The site had quite a lot of work so it is worth visiting. I found it good that if you taste wine, even the most basic is 5 glasses. Many good spots for photos. The wine in my humble opinion is not the best, however you pay more is for the experience.

Winery with children!

By Andrea G |

We visited with our two children (12 and 9 year olds).
What a great experience! Our host, Rusty, was phenomenal. Knowledgeable, kind, funny and truly catered to us AND our children.
Would go for another tasting without hesitation.

One of my favorite places to visit

By Jennefer V |

When we are close by Napa, the Castello is a must. They accommodated us and were able to fit us in for a tasting. What an amazing experience with amazing wines! We had Luca as our host! He is Great!! He helped to make our visit memorable! We are already looking forward to our next visit!!

Best wine tasting of the day!!!!

By Hannah B |

If I could give this place a higher rating, I would!! Michael was amazing and made our tasting fantastic!!! The wines were spectacular!! The ambience was beautiful!! You must go!!

Fun day with family and friends

By Michael K |

Great venue - member service level was high. Just a fun place to go beyond your normal wine tasting experience.

Good experience

By Lazari D |

I was with the family last Sunday for the castle. And it is the wine tasting that was a very relaxing and comfortable thing, and Mr. Giani with his charisma made us feel welcome, Thanks Giani.

A can't miss!

By Steve W |

Often a winery has a wine or two they excel at. Castello di Amorosa doesn't have a bad wine to offer, and the ambiance is second to none. Who doesn't want a glass or three of wine while in a castle?!?!

Wine tasting

By Guillermo |

My visit to the castle designed and built for tourists in Napa Valley, a picturesque vineyard in California, was truly remarkable. Upon the recommendation of friends, I had the pleasure of indulging in wine tasting sessions, listening to magical stories, and admiring the stunning views. It was an unforgettable experience basking in the beauty and serene atmosphere of the place. Booking in advance is a must to avoid the crowds. I highly recommend this excursion.

Subpar, mediocre, Nice castle but not representing Napa wine properly

By DDDWWWYYYSSS |

Not worth it ! Subpar wine. Mediocre at best. Don't waste your time here. We visited during our wine Napa trip. Initially went to a few beautiful wineries with superb experiences. We booked and prepaid our reservation for four of us, as required, due to illness only 3 of us were able to go. I found out this is non refundable per person. Thinking since we still filled the table they would work something out. So they wanted $65 for that. I asked their employees to shift the money over to a bottle of wine since our friend couldn't make it we would bring it over to his hotel room. They said no way. I was able to break through to a senior manager who understood and gave us a bottle but only after dealing with a cocky manager-boy who had a broken record response that unfortunately it's not possible...

Perfect place cĂĄ

By Jim C |

Excelent place!! I would like to congratulate Miss Livia for the excellent service and say that I took two bottles of wine just for the great reception she had with us!! and I would just like to write a criticism of Miss Livia's boss who didn't treat us well and wasn't cordial with us!

Great

By jessicagile1243 |

Awesome view and awesome wine. Became a member she can’t wait to visit again. Our tour guide Amy was the best.

Beautiful castle

By Final_knight |

This was the first winery we visited and it is beautiful. I love castles and medieval stuff so I am really glad we went. We did the diamond estate guided tour by Natalia, which was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The only thing I didn’t care much for were the actual wines… none could hold a candle to the Jarvis ones we tasted.

great time

By eobaed |

It was a beautiful place to visit! Generous, great taste, lots of terrific scenery.
we love it! definitely a place to visit with family and loved ones. I know this memory will always be remembered.

Never again

By Kim W |

It was so bad I had forgotten about the Castle until I just saw an episode of Man Fire Food about it. Our daughter bought my husband and I a special gift of wine tasting and food. There were 6 of us including 2 children. Basically our server did not know what my daughter had paid for and did not bring the food until we questioned it. He was obviously rushing us through. Before we could finish anything he was hovering. The guests next to us must have had the upgraded package as they had servers all over them. Seriously would not go back in peak season. It is a beautiful place and is possibly fabulous when it is not peak season. Our service was atrocious and could not recommend and will never go back.

California Castle and wonderful wine!

By V5588ZEkarenb |

Fantastic tour guide, excellent wine, the ambience was amazing - made for the perfect stop on my wine tasting weekend.

Fun experience for first timers!

By Caroline S |

This was our first time to wine country and we wanted to see what the castle was all about. It also was our first tour and we thought it would be an “easy way” to get a feel for the wine production and tasting process.

Definitely touristy, but since we went in the offseason, we were in a small group of 8 and really did not see too many other people there. I’m sure much of the experience would be dependent on a tour guide, and ours, Irene, was fantastic! She was knowledgeable and personable and made the experience what it was.

Definitely recommend it for the experience!

First time to Napa with a stop at the castle.

By Elwing |

Chloe was our guide, she was fantastic! Loved seeing the castle, the armory, torture chamber, and going below ground where the magic happens. The wine tasting with the charcuterie was amazing. Loved it so much. Definitely a must visit.

Nice experience

By Bill Goss |

Castle is beautiful and its history interesting. We also enjoyed learning more about the process of making wine. However, while our guide was very pleasant, engaging and knowledgeable, he had a strong accent which made him very difficult to understand. Fortunately, as this was not our first stop, we were able to make it work

Beautiful experience and place♥️🍷

By erika m |

It was our first time there and I became a member!! The service was fabulous (Vincenzo) made our experience so fun. This place is absolutely beautiful and I didn’t get to see it all this time. Can’t wait to go back 🎉♥️🍷

A Napa Highlight

By Michael B |

We did the complete tour and it felt like we were transported to an Italian castle. Everything was authentic and our tour guide, Bruno, was wonderful. Of course, the wines were wonderful and we bought more than expected.

Would not recommend

By Sarah29 |

I was very disappointed in the service I got from this winery prior to arriving. We had prepaid to come for a tasting and tour of the castle. However, on the drive from our hotel in the morning, we were rear ended pretty badly so our rental car was not drivable. When I called to see if I could cancel our reservation and get a refund, I was told that since it’s less than 24 hours, I could not - even though we had a car accident. I thought that was pretty odd. The person said we could reschedule. Since our rental car had to be towed, we did not know how long it would take. I called later and was able to reschedule, but not until a while later. Again, I had explained about our accident and let them know that we were 45 minutes from our hotel but only 5 miles from the winery. When I asked if we could come early and tour the castle first and then do our tasting to minimize the time we had to wait around, we were told no, that I was not possible. I was just very disappointed in how they responded. In both calls I made, I was not even asked if we were okay or the person never even showed concern about our accident. So, while the castle was pretty and the wine was good, I would not recommend this place based on the service and lack of empathy.

they should waive the wine tasting fee if you buy wine

By curva288 |

we paid full price on line for two wine tastings. We got to the tasting room and there were someone’s used wine glasses on the counter, at the only available space so we moved to an empty counter to the right. The sommelier told us that empty counter was “closed” and told us to move back to the space with the used wine glasses. He cleared the used glasses and half eaten breadsticks away and set out some clean glasses and a wine list. He seemed impatient or unhappy or both.

We chose the wines we wanted to taste and noticed his pours were very small, much smaller than other wineries. Minutes later, a couple came in and they went to the “closed counter” but our sommelier happily waited on them. He smiled more at them but his pours were still tiny.

More customers came and they all went to the “closed counter”. Our sommelier happily served them, explaining the wines to them while ignoring us. I tried many times to get his attention but he walked past us without even looking our way.

We finished tasting the 5 wines and as soon as I mentioned we would buy a case he became very friendly and attentive!

This sommelier seems racist or judgmental based on whatever he thought about us!

We bought a case and spent $1000. I don’t know what commission he earns but I didn’t care for the “that counter is closed” comment, nor being ignored most of the tasting until the end when I said we wanted to buy a case!

Was he busy? Maybe a little but why ignore us and walk past us looking the other way during our “fully paid tastingsl experience”? Not cool.

Also, other wineries will waive one tasting cost if you buy 6 bottles, two tasting costs if you buy 12 bottles…why is Castello so cheap not to do that?

Very commercial place. Yet interesting to visit.

By Juliana J |

Visited in September 2024.
This is not a traditional winery, it’s a very commercial place made for tourists. If you are a wine lover, this is not your place. If you are looking for a fun visit with friends, don’t miss it. The castle is huge, large investment to build (interesting story told by the waiter about the construction and the visionary self made fortunate owners). Wine is ok.

Excellent customer service

By Giuseppe D |

Unfortunately, due to a technical problem with the car, we were unable to reach the location. Chosen among many as many acquaintances had spoken to us about how unique this experience had been.
Excellent customer service, supported us in the technical problem and refunded the purchase of unused tickets.
Thank you again.

One of the best

By SoyRodrigo |

A very nice place, worth the visit if you are in Napa Valley. Don't forget to live the experience of trying their wines. The attention is personalized and the recommendations, based on your tastes, are very good.

Highly recommend

By Eric F |

This place was amazing to see. Wish the weather would have been better. Not much of a wine drinker but did enjoy the tasting. Highly recommend this place.

Terrible management decent wine

By anu_rajadorai |

Having been to wineries across Europe, Australia, South Africa, US and even Peru, there are much better places in Napa and Sonoma. This was an OK experience that was totally ruined by lousy management.

Marketed as a ‘kid friendly place’, Henriette Steinrueck, a VP of operations came by our table to tell us that our little children were too loud and that we should parent them better by doing x,y and z. She also told us that other guests have spent on nannies and we should be considerate of that. Very rude and judgemental, especially when this was a short pitstop on a day out for our kids on Christmas Eve. Our three year old had to witness another guest drunk and throwing up in the restroom at 11am. Only place to eat is in the car park if you have kids.

Distasteful management, too commercial and overly foot trafficked compared to other wineries in the region. If you want an authentic, classy experience with gorgeous views, give this a miss.

Instead, I highly recommend Sterling vineyards right opposite with beautiful views, a cable car ride, kind staff and awesome wine.

Amazing, will return

By Capri C |

Jacob our guide was amazing!! We had the best time and will absolutely return when we go back to Napa. If we lived there, we’d be members in a heartbeat. -Capri & Matteo

MUST SEE

By Kelly C |

The castle, your and wine tasting were an excellent adventure. I have been on many wine tours and tastings but this added another element. The staff was so friendly and provided their knowledge and expertise.

We fell in love with the vineyard. Period.

By CaptRico |

This is a unique vineyard. First is their building is a real castle with a drawbridge. Out host Paolo was absolutely wonderful and very knowledgeable about wine. He listened intently and immediately brought us the wine we had interest in. Never had this happen before. Every wine we tasted we bought a case or two. They were all that good. Especially the 2013 and 2014 cabs. Bot over 5k in wines and joined their club. BTW, the prices, even for older vintages, are quite reasonable.
If you are looking for a great tasting experience with great wines, this is the place to go to. Cheers

Everything that you would imagine what a wine tasting should be!

By Karin W |

The grounds and property are gorgeous! Our wine steward was so knowledgeable and nice! I would highly recommend going here. We spent 3 hours and could have stayed longer if we hadn't had another winery reservation.

Amazing experience

By rubypacursa |

The host her name is Kate was very accommodating and patient with us. All of us got to enjoy the wine tasting and the panoramic views.it was such an amazing experience my visitors from Vegas will never forget

Go for the VIEW, not for the TOUR

By Claudia I |

My husband and I went to the castle ready for an amazing experience. We purchased tickets from the official castle website for the Diamond Tour & Reserve wine tasting. We added some chocolate to the order because wine and chocolate were going to make the perfect end to a great experience.
The tour & tasting supposed to be about one hour and 50 minutes in length per web site details.
We flew in from Phoenix and rented a car from SFO to get to this experience.
We got more excited as we arrived because the view and the drive up to the castle are amazing.
But that is kind of where amazing ended.
The tour started a bit late, considering that there were only 5 people and the guide in this group.
Our guide did not care a bit about history, wine making or storytelling. He tried to sell us wine from the moment we met. The castle tour was super rushed, he kept pointing at stuff we can tour on our own, outside, later. And he talked about how many bottles he sells.
Also be aware that the wine tasting is at the bar, standing. You feel like an intruder in the space of the people who are not touring, who are sited at the tables.
The tasting is rushed, filled with more information on signing up for the wine club, and possible discounts.
Within 55 minutes the whole tour and tasting experience were DONE, including gift shop time.
We wound NOT recommend this experience to anyone.
Look at the pictures online and know that you are better off than wasting time and money making the trip to the castle!

What a castle …

By SAI_Traveller_2015 |

Visited over the weekend. Went there and Reserved the seats. The castle is very big.

With a ticket still did not get to see the wine making process. Some of the areas were closed; so it was ok - not good.

Not to be missed

By rianne w |

Beautiful winery! Super cool experience, felt like I was back in Italy! Staff was friendly and lovely place to take pictures. We enjoyed our visit and can’t wait for our wine to be shipped!

Tuscan flavor in Napa

By clkerr1118 |

Cool experience. Paolo guided us through a pretty expansive tasting. We upgraded to the red wines and were not disappointed. Wines are Tuscan flavored, not California! We ended up buying a case of the Super Tuscan to ship home. Interesting history of castle. I would recommend a visit to this winery.

Fun tour wine ok

By Adventurer284163 |

If you are looking for a unique tour of a replica of a castle then this is the place. We paid up for the guided tour and cheese pairing. This winery is commercialized so lots of people. I would recommend the tour however we did not like the wine.

Beautiful view with disappointing tasting!

By 836katrinf |

We felt rushed during our tasting, even though we arrived prior to our appointment (already anticipated by them by email on the visit day)! Our sommelier didn’t give informations about the wines we were tasting and forgot to serve one of the wines and our chocolate! Good part about the visit is the view and the castle is nice to visit.

Amazingorosa

By gurjitmarwah |

It's a must do, you are transported to Europe and back in time!! The guided tour and the Guide, Christian, were awesome.

Castello is a destination to visit

By Derek H |

Always a fun tour and good tasting. Been club members for years! Recently went for another tour, tasting, and chocolate pair

A Castle and wine that can't lose

By VKK |

A castle! Seriously, a castle! My friends and I could not have enjoyed this experience more. Put on your walking shoes and take the tour! And the wines were lovely! I highly recommend this experience.

Great Beginning

By ggloop |

Fantastic experience!!! We joined as club members and took home 3 dozen bottles of great wine!!
Looking forward to out next tasting event in the next year.

Incredible property, stunning views, amazing host and some of the best wines we had

By Corey C |

We LOVED our host, Christopher, during our wine tasting. He was incredibly funny, personable and answered all our questions. We can't wait to go back to tour the absolutely stunning grounds. We will do the guided tour next time.

Pretty venue, crappy experience

By Tink0707 |

You have to pre-pay & we arrived a couple minutes late. We were the last time spot of the day & they’d closed the doors. We went around back & after about 15 min they agreed to see us. We understood we were late & offered to have them do less tastings (maybe 3 or 4 of the 5). We waited another 40 minutes for a guy who spoke almost no English to serve us. He didn’t give any time or focus & kept wandering off or talking with other people. He’d said he would serve all 5 wines but most of us got 3 & one of the girls got 2 because he kept forgetting to get the wine she’d requested. I didn’t like that kids were allowed, personally. There were 5 kids with 2 groups in the area we were in & they were running around wild & distracting to everyone. That’s the parents fault, but allowing kids into the tasting area allows for misbehaving kids to ruin everyone’s experience. The castle is pretty & the grounds are great but we had a poor experience, and so even though several of the wines were very good, I wouldn’t go back.

Cool place for a wine tasting!

By amazingsoccerman |

Wine Tasting at a real Tuscan castle. Looked authentic in every way. Very impressive. The wine was delicious and our host was funny, engaging and informative. We did not take the tour, but I think it would be fun as well. We walked around the beautiful grounds on our own before and after the tasting. There was a funny goat that escaped and was eating grapes. When a staff member came out, the goat knew it was in trouble and ran and jumped back into its pen. All staff that we encountered were friendly and efficient. Only negatives, and they are minor were that the fees were expensive and our tasting was down in the dungeon.

Great service and product

By Ryan M |

We have been going to Napa for 20+ years and recently bought a house in downtown for vacationing. We are in a bunch of wine clubs so I swore I would not buy OR JOIN any others but after going to Amorosa we signed up. The reason? We had an amazing experience, Luka our host was incredible and the wine was very good. Great all around experience.and would highly recommend to anyone!

A MUST do.

By Julie H |

This is hands down the best Napa Valley experience to be had! The grounds, the tour, the wine-just wow. We’ve been to multiple wineries stateside and abroad, this was definitely our favorite.
This is a very unique experience, and Mirco our Italian intern was FABULOUS.

Fun to visit

By llm050 |

Fun place to visit and explore around the “castle”. Wine tastings were good too. Get there early to avoid crowds and get the best photos.

A Winery Experience for the Whole Family

By Jeffrey L |

Fantastic winery with beautiful castle and grounds. The wine tasting is a bit impersonal and geared towards the masses. Great place for families as they have animals and the castle to interest the kids.

First wine tasting for our young adult kids

By tcuccia123 |

Castello Di Amorosa is our go to place when entertaining out of town guests - in the past ,usually with our minor children in tow. Our girls have always loved the castle ( and the grape juice!). Now finally to celebrate our youngest's 22nd birthday we returned with our young adult kids. They were thrilled to finally try the the fabulous wines Castello di Amorosa has to offer. Our tour guide did a fabulous job. She was very personable and really engaged everyone in the group.

Would not go again

By Kelley D |

Our guide was great, but the money for the tour not so much. I had been here about 20 years ago before it was commerciailzed. My daughter's first time. We both said lest favorite experience. But if you want to see the castle, maybe it is worth it. We paid less elsewhere for a better value/experience.

Great Winery & Lovely Castle

By Gwopilot |

The grounds were absolutely beautiful with a stunning and enormous authentic castle. The wine tasting and cave tour was first class and I'd highly recommend this to anyone!

Wonderful experience

By Steven L |

We needed a reservation (no walk-ups), and when we arrived, we were brought right to our table in the outdoor tasting area. Eva R was our wine expert, and she did an excellent job making us feel welcome, attending to the table, and explaining all the different wines that we enjoyed. It was a very relaxed wine-tasting event, and we liked all the different varieties that we sampled. Eva did a great job explaining them to us so that we understood what we were drinking before we sampled it. Our teenage son came with us, and he was able to sample the fancy grape juice too. Fun afternoon!

Fun, but touristy

By cjosnato |

Very touristy, and a little tacky, but still a great time. For us, it was our last vineyard of the day. No surprise, we still walked away with two bottles.

Fun at the castle in Napa

By skiers4 |

So this is a really different and fun place. Yes you have wine aspects but then it's all in an actual castle. Including a drawbridge and a torture chamber. The wines are really good as well so no torture.

True castle of Love

By One Sky For All |

It is true medieval experience. High quality wine, amazing panoramic views from Truncated Tower. Our trip will be cherished with memories full of love. Plan ahead, come earlier, schedule your wine paring tour. We took everything for our family picnic and had amazing time together. Make sure to prepare activities for younger children. This winery is oriented for adults, but their grape juice become one of the favorite treats for all our children.

What fun!

By marindell2 |

Our wine tasting was amazing and was made all the more special because of our host, Mary. Her expertise, knowledge, and excellent customer service made it one of the best tasting we have ever had. We became club members due to our experience at the castle. We will be back!

Real Castle!

By Rai11243 |

it is amazing place to take a tour and to taste great vines. Castle itself is very beautiful, so do not miss to order the guided tour! And my grandson enjoyed delicious grape juice there!

Who would have thought…

By travelingcompani2022 |

An amazing attraction with amazing wine. We went to see the structure, but we’re impressed with the history, tour, and community.

Not Just a Winery…a Destination!

By DunWrkin |

An outstanding outing! There’s wine, history and exceptionally knowledgeable people. Our tasting was guided by the bubbly Chloe, ‘une Francaise’ who educated us not only about wine in general, but also on how to serve and best pair them with food. She MADE our visit worth it! We did regret not taking the tour of the test of the castle including the dungeons and torture chamber. Don’t miss this winery on you visit to wine country!

Our host made it terrible

By yapgi |

My bf and I had an amazing time on our first trip to Castello Di Amorosa, therefore we suggested it to our friends for the 2nd time. However, I am deeply embarrassed as everyone in our group had a terrible time with the host. We had a standing wine tasting reservation and when we got there to meet our host (Don), there was another asian group that was already there who left in a rush. As we we're interacting with Don, one of the girls from the 1st group came back asking for breadsticks. He gave it to her unwillingly and embarrassed her infront of us. When she left, he stated that some cultures really don't know how to tip & we had a feeling he was referring to the last asian group and finally realizing that we're asians as well, he stopped and said Europeans don't ever need to tip because there's no such thing in Europe.

Moving forward, Don had us pick 5 wines on the list and just gave it to us with very little information or teachable moments to figure out what each of our palate would like. There's 8 of total and 4 haven't had that experience at all. He also forgot to give one of our friend's last wine even though he kept reminding Don. Another friend couldn't taste one of her choice because Don didn't want to open a new bottle. We also had to keep hinting him that we've had very little breadsticks only for him to say that it's not something you just keep eating while tasting. I guess at least he gave us two chocolates per person. Whoopty doo!

And lastly (unfortunately), there was another group from behind Don, in the other room who all came out as some point and their host walked them out himself all the way to the door behind us. Don also embarrassed his coworker infront of us reprimanding him about stopping there to talk to his customers so loudly and interrupting us. We never complained about it to Don or anything, it was all his own annoyance.

Dreadful value for money tourist trap

By David |

We must have gone on a very bad day looking at other reviews as this place charges $60 a person for five tiny measures of generally poor wine (cumulative total volume would be less than a glass, I didn’t score any wine over 6/10 and the sparking was atrocious), a server who rushed us without more than a sentence on each wine, and gave the kids about half a glass of grape juice each ($25 each).
It’s an interesting new build castle made to look old but given cost of visit is not even nearly worth it.
We took an Uber there assuming it would be necessary - maybe the many cars outside was the clue.

A Castle in Napa ??? Must See !!!

By Rachel H |

How fun! I wouldn't have expected a castle in Napa Valley, but lo & behold, ta-da!

Everything from the drive in to the views at the top are exquisite! Some might say it's touristy, but I think that makes it all the more a must! The wine tour is impressive as well, barreling, aging & tasting ... and the historical items they have, some of which I hadn't seen since my days in Rothenberg, Germany!

If you do a wine tasting, splurge & add the chocolate. It pairs nicely!

If you're on the fence with pricing, it's totally worth it. Once the tour completes, you aren't pressed to leave right away, take time & enjoy!

Napa Valley – A Wine Lover’s Dream Come True!

By Elany Leonardy |

"If you haven't been to Napa Valley yet, WHAT are you waiting for?!"

First of all, Napa Valley is pure MAGIC. I’m not even a huge wine connoisseur, but after this trip, I’m ready to buy a vineyard! 😜 From the moment you arrive, the beauty of the valley takes over. Rolling hills, gorgeous vineyards as far as the eye can see, and the kind of air that makes you feel like you’re living in a wine commercial. #LivingTheDream

We did a couple of wine tastings (because, duh), and each one was better than the last. The wineries are top-notch, the staff is knowledgeable, and let's be real—tasting wine on a terrace overlooking the vines? Pure heaven. Castello di Amorosa was a highlight. I mean, a castle AND wine? Yes, please!

We also did a tour of the valley and stopped at Beringer Vineyards, which is historic and stunning. The wine is exceptional, and the gardens alone are worth the visit. Oh, and don’t even get me started on the food. The restaurants here? WOW. The farm-to-table dishes were fresh, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the wines.

Aside from the wine, Napa Valley is SO relaxing. We took a hot air balloon ride (because why not?) and watching the valley unfold beneath us was an experience I’ll never forget. It’s like seeing the world through a glass of Rosé—everything feels soft, warm, and fabulous.

The only downside? I wish we could have stayed longer! Napa Valley definitely has me hooked. So, if you’re into beautiful views, delicious wines, and amazing food, Napa should 100% be on your list. Trust me, you’ll fall in love. #NapaValleyMagic #WineLoversParadise #CheersToNapa #CantWaitToReturn

Didn’t get to see it

By Happy traveler |

Very disappointed. We didn’t want to sample wine as we had our daughter with us. Just wanted to see the castle and walk around. Only way up the hill was to buy a ticket at 50 dollars. So we didn’t get to see it as it would have cost 150 and that’s an hike.

Non-Alcoholic and Self guided tour, a WASTE on money!!!!

By Kimberly |

The only reason I proceeded to pay $64.95 before knowing they only had 1 bottle of non-alcoholic wine was it looked like an impressive Castle. It was NOT! No one offered a guided tour. And part of the tour was blocked off with a self guided tour. I didn’t get to see any of the dungeon or the “staged” wine rooms in the pics. We only saw the open air tasting room, the so called “grand room” and was asked to go back inside when we walked out to where the wine was kept in these large metal containers. At least at a whiskey tour in TN they actually kept their whiskey in barrels for “true” aged wine. I question if they speed up their fermentation with these metal tanks. But I don’t know because we weren’t “allowed” there without a guide. And let me say, their use of a so called Chapel is a disgrace. Don’t call a room a chapel if you’re not going to respect it. The fake barrels had cheesy signage of various towns in Napa Valley. Ultimately this is a waste of money and NOT appropriate for kids because of the mural by Dante who f purgatory. It’s repulsive and what’s it’s purpose of being there.

Fantastic Experience

By cycling_banker |

While driving through Napa, we had a few extra minutes and decided to stop at Castello di Amorosa. It turned out to be our favorite stop of the trip. The castle is unique and has great views of the valley. We enjoyed our tasting were given great insight to the different types of wines produced in their vineyard.

Impressive

By marisa k |

Neither my friends nor I are people who would normally go wine tasting, but we wanted to see the castle and get a tour. The tour was fascinating and our guide was awesome! The only odd parts were the directions to check in for the tour, and while we were waiting for our tour to start there was a guide that was complaining very loudly about her guests that she was going to take on her tour :/ Despite that odd beginning, we had a great tour and thought the wine tasting and pairing with the chocolates was really nice! We regret arriving so late in the afternoon because we weren't able to explore more afterward in the dark or take pictures. We would be happy to go back again!

Beautiful castle, captivating history on how the castle came to be.
Unfortunately it was too crowded and the service was super slow, despite having a reservation, we had to wait 10-15 minutes to get a table.
The white wines were not chilled, had to ask for breadsticks and we had to wait for awhile after each pour which took away from the experience.
It’s scenic and great for pictures but as a wine lover I would not visit again.
The pours were not worth the money paid for.

Castello di Amorosa, what an Experience this was, Amazing!!

By TravelJohn092 |

While visiting Napa Valley, we made a reservation for this Castle and it was Amazing. Once the tour guide (Christopher) took us all over the Castle, he took us to the Gift shop and for our scheduled tastings of their wines, WOW!!
The tasting in the gift shop is the end of the tour but shop all you want, we had several bottles mailed to our home. You can't go wrong getting this tour, seeing the towers, catapalt, barrels galore, dungeon, more barrels, bottles and more barrels.....I spent time in Sicily and this reminded me of their castles. The Views of the surrounding valley is Amazing....

Best of the Best Wineries

By larrybrum13 |

Absolutely amazing!! This authentic castle was off the charts incredible, and the complete tour was breathtaking. The dungeon was so authentic it could be frightening to realize what actually was done back in the 11th Century or so. All of the people at the Castello were incredible. Our tasting host was simply awesome, Mary D. She was so knowledgeable not just on the Castello, but on all the wines that are made there and their multiple award winning vineyards where they harvest all their grapes for their wine. We had an unbelievable time and couldn't recommend it any higher as the best visit on so many counts in Napa Valley. We will definitely return for more wine.

Trip wine tasting

By Kels00000 |

The castle is very beautiful however the service and wine suck. I booked a standing reserve tasting which included 5 tastings of my choice. Which means I get to pick 5 wines from the list. We checked in and were directed to go downstairs for our tasting. Gave our cards to the server and he asked what type of wines I liked, I said sparking and white but not sweet. He picked 5 wines for me. 3 out of the 5 were sweet. Not happy. Then after he poured our first tasting he left for about 15 minutes, didn't say excuse me I need to do something so I had to ask another server to pour us our second tasting. When he got back he said he had to help with the register. WHAT??!!!! It would have been nice to not stand around wondering where he went!! The whole experience was terrible.

Don't miss this stop on your trip

By Laurie O |

The castle tour was impressive and we appreciated how the wine tasting allowed my husband and me to sample different wines and then share them so we were each able to sample 10 different wines.

Beautiful winery

By Kimberly Franco |

The castle is very beautiful and picturesque. You need reservations in order to go in. We paid $66 for 5wine tastings. Unfortunately, our guide rushed us and I didn’t really get to enjoy it. I even felt embarrassed to take out my phone and record the wine because he would come back in a minute after pouring a glass and say “oh you haven’t finished, I guess I’ll wait.” If you are visiting on a long weekend make sure you book ahead because it sells out.

Good wines but the real highlight is the castle

By mylesdolphin |

Let's face it - it's a replica medieval castle in the middle of Napa Valley. So it's pretty damn impressive! With that out of the way, the wine tasting we did was a bit sub-par. The Italian gentleman we had seemed ... uninterested? Like he didn't really care whether we were there or not. But the setting was incredible and we really enjoyed walking around the castle afterwards. We didn't do the tour so that might be more exciting!

A Unique and Beautiful Place

By Suezbaker |

The castle is an amazing accomplishment and worth the visit.
It sits on a hill overlooking the vineyards and countryside. Your drive up to the castle is charming. The craftsmanship is perfect. There is no air conditioning there and a good deal of steps to walk. There is also no where to really sit down and take a rest. They should really provide some seating. There is no water or food available either. There is a cute town 4 miles away with shops and restaurants. I would have given them a 5 but after walking around the castle for 45 minutes or so we had our wine tasting part of our tour. We had to stand while we tasted our wines frankly my daughter and I wished they had a stool to sit down on to enjoy our wines and rest. I found that a bit inhospitable. Also I wanted to add the charcuterie board because we were hungry, only to find out that was only available if you booked the tour with the board. They got to sit on that tour. Frankly I was hungry and thirsty after walking around. I did purchase the chocolate tasting for my tour. Three chocolates to pair with the wines for $8. They were amazing. I paid $80 for the tour of the winery and cellars including the torture chamber!!!

Good ambiance

By Jyss |

My mom and I stopped here. Cool grounds great view of the area. Castle is neat. There were chickens around the property.we were a little early for our reservation, but that was not a problem. Like all of the area, it's expensive side for tasting. The ambiance is nice in the tasting room at one of the lower levels. There is no cell service for us there. Staff was friendly and helpful. For some reason, my mom always got larger pours than me. We bought a few bottles including one of the discount wines in the gift shop.

Members Club

By party2u |

Only reason my review is not a 5 star is because the young lady that worked the members club was rude. My fiancé, a close couple, and myself visited May 14th, and headed up to the members area, as I have been a member for over 4 years. When we got to the entry the young lady at the said they were full and couldn’t seat us. It was obvious they were NOT full, we saw plenty of open tables, so I asked if there was a better time? During this same time a members worker, Luca, said no, we’re not full, I can take them. The young lady got very annoyed and said no, we are full and we have other people coming in. We turned and walked away, disappointed with the young ladies rudeness. I then went back up to get a card so I can speak to a manager, as I got half way up the stairs, Luca was running down them to get us. He said, come in, I will take care of you. He seated us and gave us fabulous service. The hour or so we were there, we saw only one other table be seated and over half the room was empty. I am very thankful Luca stepped in to accommodate us.

Beautiful views, nice people. Not necessarily for budget travel.

You will be the happiest if you visit on a day without rain. Even if it should rain, you will still be impressed by the beauty and the drive here. Food choices are of good quality and delicious-but really do not expect to have a meal under $16 dollars. Cal mart has a lot of gourmet items for a wonderful picnic. Many spas to indulge in a weekend of relaxation. There is a local shuttle for the city of Calistoga that runs from the morning till 7:00 p.m at night Mon-Thurs and till 9:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday. No shuttle service on Sunday. There are No more taxi companies in the area that I'm aware of-taking Lyft or Uber is sketchy if you need a ride. Napa California is about 40 minutes away by car and Santa Rosa can be as close as 20 minutes by car sans traffic. There is Bus service to Napa, but no direct bus service from Calistoga to Santa Rosa.

Beautiful location, Excellent wines, personal service

By Frequent Traveling Mom |

Gorgeous setting and wonderful wines. Be sure to allot enough time for a leisurely visit to Castello di Amorosa. Our tasting was customized to our preferences and presented with flair. This is a must see winery for wine enthusiasts and sightseers alike. Purchasing wine was easy but not forced. Magnificent!!

Excellent tour and tour guide. Beautiful castle. Great experience. A little touristy but still worth the visit!

By Brooke T |

Beautiful castle! Loved the tour and our tour guide, I believe his name was Alexander, was hilarious and made the whole experience even better. It is a little touristy but still very much worth the visit. The wines were ok but I was on my third tasting for the day so I’m pretty sure my palette was wrecked by that point! We did buy some bottles so I will be excited to try them again. This is a must for a first trip to Napa!

Cool fake castle

By Queen J |

This winery is located just off of Highway 28 in St Helena, a few miles south of Calistoga, across the road from the "Welcome to Napa Valley" sign.

I'm not a wine drinker, but I bought a ticket just to tour this (fake) castle. Is it like touring a real castle? Of course not. Not even close, but it is a lavish winery and still fun to visit.

You must purchase your tasting reservation online for a specific time and day. Print this reservation, and present it to the guard at the gate before your appointment. You will not be admitted up the drive without it.

Once you arrive, you park and walk into the castle to check in at the small office to the left, where you exchange your reservation for a tasting ticket and bracelet that corresponds with the type of tour you reserved.

My reservation was the earliest time slot, 10:05am, on a Monday. I arrived at 10am, and there were already several cars in the parking lot.
I reserved a standing tasting and self- tour of the castle for $50. A sitting tasting is $10 more and a guided tour is like $100 or something. You can add cheese pairings and chocolate, but I wasn't even interested in the wine, so I didn't.

I preferred the self-guided tour because I could explore at my own pace, avoiding the large tour groups, and return to any of the previously crowded rooms after the group had left. There is an audio you can download and listen to with your phone and earbuds.

I enjoyed the castle architecture, decor, and details. Two of the highlights were the banquet room and the pictures I took from the tower.

A few areas of the castle were closed, such as the torture dungeon, and some other areas because builders were expanding on the far side of the castle.

The tasting is the last thing guests do before leaving, so once you're done exploring, you head to the tasting room, and sidle up to the bar to present your tasting ticket.

I thought the wine was ok, but like I said, I'm no wine connoisseur. I liked the prosecco and the soda pop wine - a sparkling strawberry something. But I didn't buy any because I was heading out to explore and then drive to the coast, and I doubted there was a wine that would fare well in a hot car all day.

As you exit the tasting room , you pass a fenced area with a few goats and emus, and some signs warning visitors to remain 3ft away from the emus. As I passed by, the emus poked their heads through the wooden fence rails, stretching their long necks and eying me shrewdly, unwavering in their determination to peck out my eyes should I be so bold as to come within striking distance. I eyed them back in amusement.

In the end, I spent an hour and a half there. If there had been grapes in the vineyard, I would probably have stayed about 2 hours.

Wine tasting

By Expedition104674 |

Pleasant atmosphere and staff was great to work with. Town nearby also had a cool vibe. Plenty of coffee shops, bakery’s and restaurants to taste your new wine.

Our wine guide was the best

By rdwagner |

Gerardo was our wine guide and he was so knowledgable and personable, we had a great time chatting with him and tasting the wines, he is what made the experience special.

Beatufil views and good wine

By Yomaira Perdomo |

Did the tour that takes you see every corner of the castle. Our tour guide was very knowgeable and friendly. Ended the tour with a tasting. This was a great experience that I truly recommend to anyone visiting Napa.

Great visit and exceptional wines!

By MikeD08062 |

We had an early morning tasting with a tight schedule. We were brought downstairs to our tasting room where we were seated. We were quickly introduced to Paulo, our host. He was exceptional and made this visit so enjoyable. He had so much passion for these wines that it rubbed off on all of us.
I was not expecting these wines to be good. My thoughts were that all the energy and attention went into the Castle. boy, was I wrong. Their wines were incredible! Some of the best Cabs I tasted all week. We missed actually touring the Castle because we spent so much time tasting. Well done, Dario, Paulo and team!! A++++

Beautiful place, wonderful winetasting experience

By Amy C |

The vineyard offers family friendly wine tasting options, providing kids with their very own grape juice and activity sets.

The sommelier was very friendly and knowledgeable.

The wine tasting experience was great, the self guided tour around the castle was absolutely breathtaking.

Highly recommended for families or anyone who has never been to napa valley.

But weren't the Apache here?

By Petuchigo |

It's worth it in any case
Even if in Italy we wouldn't have been too upset when faced with a castle like this, the atmosphere you breathe upon entering is truly real, of a past that could have also existed among the Indians. All very touristy now but well told
The wines are not bad, especially the reds and their passito

Fun tour and visit

By cornbread35 |

We had a reservation for a tour and tasting with food and were assembled and off quickly. Dimitri, our guide, was very knowledgeable and friendly. The tour was interesting about the castle as well as the wines they make and surrounding area. The food and wine were good. I’d recommend

A Step Back in Time

By SLPmom |

What a fun experience! Felt like we were in a different time and country! We did a tasting with Cyndi and she was so attentive and great at making recommendations based on our tastes. We were celebrating my daughter’s 21st birthday and she made her feel extra special.

Beautiful and Noisy

By DJLJ |

Loved the look of this place, medieval and beautiful, but it was pretty noisy! They are probably very popular, hence all of the noise and people, but for tastings and educational tours, I prefer a little more of a quiet atmosphere. I missed a lot of what our guide had to say. Wines were very good, especially the Chardonnay Reserve.

awesome experience!

By ndolan5150 |

Server was fantastic in his suggestions for tastings. We were made to feel welcome from the beginning.

Kids

By Ellen P |

If you have kids this is the place to go. If you want a great tasting experience then avoid at all costs. It’s a cattle call tasting experience with marginal wine.

Amazing afternoon at Costello in Napa

By Donna C |

We made a reservation online that had a very specific entry time, we were well taken care of and seated immediately inside the main great room. Our server Lyn K was fantastic. He was so incredibly knowledgeable about all the wines, picked out wines that each of us would specifically enjoy, we really enjoyed sitting inside as it was a warm day. The castle was quite crowded but there was plenty of room for everybody to walk about and enjoy the property. If you were looking for amazing Italian wines outside of Italy, I highly recommend stopping by the castle for a winetasting. We brought home multiple bottles of Barb wine, everything was fantastic. Would come back and bring friends.

Beautiful European castle rebuilt with historic stones right here in the US.

By Leila and Steve F |

Gorgeous castle with a really interesting history of how it was built. Amazing staff and amazing wines. Highly recommend it.

Be prepared to treated like a second class guest if you don't buy the full tour.

By Ricardo L |

I visited this winery on October 30th in the Napa area. I saw photos of the castle and I said I wanted to go one day. What I didn't know is that to see the castle I need to buy the wine tour or to buy 6 bottles of juice to only see the outside and visit the store for $94. Be prepared if you only buy the juices you are going to be disappointed. You can't use the bathroom inside the castle you have to go to portable restrooms that are outside and are worse than ones you see at the park. They don't even let you visit the entire store inside to buy something. They only let you visit the entrance of the store, you don't have access to the entire store. So you are going to be disappointed like me spending $94 for simple juices. And the worst thing is the people who work there have the worst customer service skills. They don't talk to you in a good maner. Especially one of the managers who is named Vicky. I asked for her last name and she refused to give me her complete name. You have to train your people and take classes for customer service to speak politely and to educate the people. This person doesn't have any skills or any training. I don't know how a person like her can work on this property. I give just 1 star to this review only because the castle is pretty from the outside.

Castello Di Amorosa

By Alan H |

This is a great winery for families. We were relieved to see so many kids around. Thank you to Dimitri our host for an excellent experience. He’s a real pro. They also have animals outside to entertain the kids afterwards . Such a beautiful place !

Such a Treat

By TeamSkiSA |

The sites were magnificent. The castle is grand, and exciting to explore. The wines are beautiful. The experience was just splendid.

Breath taking

By Andrea W |

Absolutely stunning!! Wow, words can’t express the size and beauty of this winery. Pay for the full tour, you won’t be disappointed.

Great tour with great wine !

By Alyssa L |

My husband organized the guided tour of the castle + wine tasting this past weekend. We got there 15 mins before our reservation to check in and use the bathroom before it started.
Our tour guide was Jacob C. and he was very knowledgeable about the castle and made the tour super engaging. I don't know much about wine, other than I like drinking it lol
He took us around the castle and pointed out fun facts and I learned some stuff about wine. We even joined their wine club.
Thank you, Jacob, for being a great tour guide and making this such a fun experience.

Authentic castle vineyard

By TanyaB |

Amazing architecture representing an Italian castle. Very authentic. Fantastic wine that is only available for purchase at or from the vineyard. Stunning must see.

Only hype and over rated with no value for money

By sunilde2025 |

Its only hype and no value for money. The pour is too small and the service is bad to justify the money charged. Though claimed to be “ Tuscan experience “ in Napa valley, its much below the Tuscan experience.

Lorenzo and the wine are amazing!

By Leslie F |

We visited Castello di Amorosa for a wine testing. Because of the time of year and it being a bit slower we were able to do our tasting in the member room! It was such a fun vibe! Before you even make it to the tasting the views and the castle are amazing! Make sure you leave time to do some walking around. There are also chickens and goats on the grounds! Lorenzo was our waiter and he was fantastic. Very engaging and gave us the best suggestions for wines to choose from. If you are taking a trip up to Napa and want to do some wine tasting I cannot recommend this place enough!

Different experience

By Jeanne M |

The online description of the experience and the actual in-person experience differed so greatly that we elected not to join the tour and tasting. Way too crowded.

Club Member and someone new

By alejerubio |

My friend has been interested in wine tasting but already knew he did not like reds. I knew the staff would be able to assist as they are the best around. My friend had a blast and is all about learning more about wine.

Wine Tasting and Tour with Stefan

By Andre T |

Castello di Amorosa was our favorite wine tasting and tour of Napa, and we visited two others (Pine Ridge and Auberge du Soleil). Stefan was our guide and he was absolutely fantastic. Funny, knowledgeable and super attentive during the tour. Plus the wine tasting at the end was fantastic, highly recommend the diamond estate tour and wine tasting with the add-on for the flagship wines (top tier ones)

Grand tour

By Rick M |

Fantastic/grand winery. Pay the money and get the guided tour which includes a tasting at the end. This place makes you feel like you are walking back in time.

Careful not to get thrown in the Iron Maiden. (Excellent/bogus).

Outstanding visit!

By rwheeler |

I joined my husband on a work conference and this was the excursion the conference group too us on. Hands down an amazing experience. Upon arrival we were handed a glass of bubbly, and then a tasting for our tour of the castle. It’s amazing to think this castle was made in the 2000’. You feel as if you have been transported back in time to Europe. We were then treated to a fabulous tasting lunch experience in the Great Hall prepared by Tre Posti Catering. We then visited the great gift shop to bring souvenirs home from our memorable outing. If in the area again we will definitely be returning. Oh, and the wine is good too! Try their specialty sweet wine La Fantasia.

Amazing experience

By Ava T |

Experience 10/10. Highly recommend. We visited the castle for my daughter’s 30th birthday and we had an amazing experience. Anthony was our guide and he was incredible. He was so knowledgeable and taught us so much. The experience went way above our expectations. We can’t wait to return.

Authentic old world experience

By pmholcomb3 |

Wine tasting at the castle is an experience wine lovers should visit and enjoy every moment. Exquisite wines and the ambience is like entering the European old world. 🥰

The Only Castle in Wine Country!

Must see if you are scheduling wine tours in Napa! This place is amazing. Make sure to sign up for the tour in addition to the tasting.

Wine and a Castle equals a Great Time

By Wandering Lovebirds |

"""A Tuscan Fairytale in Napa!""

Our visit to Castello di Amorosa was nothing short of magical. The Diamond Estate Tour and Wine Tasting offered a delightful mix of history, charm, and indulgence. Roberta, our captivating guide, masterfully balanced storytelling with tasting tips (plus, her Italian accent added that extra touch of authenticity).

The castle itself is an architectural marvel—a true labor of love in recreating a Tuscan masterpiece. Sitting by the fire on an overcast day, enjoying carefully curated wine and chocolate pairings, was perfection.

We walked away with six bottles, each representing a memory of this unforgettable day. Pinot Grigio was her favorite; Brigante stole my heart. 🍷

A must-add to your Napa Valley itinerary!

Great wine experience

By kevin j |

After first visit years ago enjoyed it so much I kept coming back and became a club member and sommelier Johny B makes our visits enjoyable

Beautiful Place

By mylang2001 |

We love the place, location, atmosphere. The castle was unique and wine taste good. The reason why I gave a 3 stars instead of 5 stars because of our tour person and the cashier.

The tour person we got curse a lot throughout the tour. I understand that we all adults but not all of us enjoy the F word throughout. Come to a point I felt offended.

I ordered 1 case of wine to ship and 2 bottle pickup right there. However, no one, include our tour person and cashier told us that when we purchased a case, we'll receice complimentary membership. So I only put in the name I used instead of my legal name on my order form. Until when I got home and receive an email about complimentary membership, I tried to email couple time request for name change but no response.

Cashier who check us out was pretty rude and unprofessional. I understand that during this time, all business shortage on staff but that doesn't mean they can treat us however they want.

Winery has gotten too greedy for me.

By Linh T |

Used to go here with my family a lot to do tastings, buy wine, and check out the castle. Then they started raising the prices of the tours so just came here to buy wine and check out the castle. Now, they’ve blocked access to the castle unless you buy their wines or book a tour ahead of time. Guess I won’t be coming here anymore.

Nice winery

By ccampb378422 |

Really enjoyed the experience . It is quite touristy but still enjoyable especially for the novice. We did the Diamond tour

Beautiful winery

By Richard Klein |

Beautiful winery to visit. We did a tasting with chocolate pairing. The selection tasted great and we ended up having some of it shipped back home. I felt a little bit like the place was a little to commercialized though, a bit like a Disney for grown-ups. It was also disappointing that we couldn't just buy a bottle to drink there on the grounds.

Great visit!

By T13 |

Beautiful castle and scenery and vibes! Our tasting was customized based on what we like and Monica was wonderful! They had several sweet wines which is rare. Would definitely recommend!

Best wine experience ever

By dnagle51 |

I’ve been to the castle several times before, but this was the best visit I have had. Alexander our tour guide was amazing and followed up a great tour with a very personalized wine tasting. I’ve bought the Castle wines over the years so I was expecting (and they were) exceptional wines. I ordered a case and have only been back home for a month and am ordering another. First class in every way!

Dont do the standing wine tasting

By grace10107 |

the guy who did our standing wine tasting seemed off and made inappropriate jokes. All four of us felt uncomfortable the whole time. Plus the wine tasting was done in a dungeon like room closed off.

Great Castle Building

By poukala |

It is interesting that Google Maps takes you to the wrong place, but where it takes you, the winery is aware and they have a sign and turnaround spot to find the correct location!
The winery is build like a castle which is really cool! Families were exploring all the areas! There were more kids here than adults!
We had our tasting in the lower level. The ambiance was nice but our server was like a used car salesman! It was not a good tasting experience at all. The wines were good, he was a major turnoff!

trip to the castle

it was great fun we took my buddy and his wife they both loved it . The tour was fun and we had a lively group with us . the wine was great and the guide was bubbly and fun . this was my third tour and i learned something new every time . If you have not been there yet you must go .

Visiting Castello di Amorosa is always a treat! We are wine club members and took our friends on the Diamond Estate Tour & Reserve Wine Tasting, which is totally worth it. We learned a lot and got to sample exceptional wines that are only sold at the winery! Our guide, Jose made it a lot of fun. We'll be back!

Great Tour, Amazing Guide, Busy but Worth the Visit

By Kelsey K |

Castello di Amorosa is such a fun and interesting place to explore. It is very busy, which made parts feel a little crowded, but the tour itself was excellent. Our guide, Cynthia (Cindy), was truly fantastic — she’s been there for years, knows the castle inside and out, and added humor and personality to every part of the tour.

The wine tasting afterward was delicious, and we really enjoyed wandering the castle grounds to explore and take photos. It’s a beautiful property with lots to see.

One helpful note: have your reservation confirmation ready on your phone when you arrive, as you’ll need it at the entrance gate.

Busy or not, this is a memorable stop in Napa and definitely worth experiencing.

You HAVE to go !!

By Jeff G |

Epic. Breath taking. No wonder its the most visited winery in the Valley. The detail in building the Castle and its decor is amazing. The downstairs private tasting room is so nice I would live there. I went early. 10:06 am tasting. I know thats early but im on East Coast time so not a big deal but it avoided the crowds that showed up by the time we left. Had the downstairs tasting room with the excellent Luca, all to ourselves for the most part. Wine was stellar also and only sold at the winery. You cant buy it at any store or restaurant.

Disappointed Vet!!

By Jnandez |

Third time visiting and super excited for my mother to experience her very first vineyard and wine tasting. I was very disappointed with self tour wine tasting employee, Dominico. Not very welcoming and lacked hospitality to truly spend time and enlighten us with the beauty the castle has to offer.

Poor customer service

By Tintu S |

Extremely unhappy with the customer service. Website showed they close at 6pm. Their online booking system clearly had a problem in booking wine tours, gave an error for any day or time we book. I tried calling their customer service who did not answer any calls when they were clearly open. After driving 2 hours with little kids and senior family members, all the way to Napa just to visit this winery, we reached at 5:05pm. Their website still showed tour at 5:16pm.
Explained to the staff on their website issue, even showed them the website bug which took us 20 mins to explain. Requested for permission to do just wine tasting and taking pictures around the castle. They refused to let us in stating they were closed for wine tasting, when the website clearly showed open until 6pm. We were finally willing to choose option of buying a wine bottle just to be able to visit the wine pickup area close to the castle. I only wanted our family visiting from Florida for weekend to see the beautiful castle and taste wine which was optional. After a while of discussions, they say their store closed at 5:30pm while we were still inside their gate reception and in mid of this discussion for last 20 mins. They finally break this news that even going around the castle to take pictures is not possible now allthough their website showed close time as 6pm. We lost time standing their from 5:05 to 5:30pm explaining the problem with their website. now they were not allowing us to buy the wine as well. After all the effort, all they offered was an apology which was clearly frustrating when what we loose is time, energy and money driving all the way here with emotional frustration and disappoinement. Later we saw a board that stated they were closed for private event. Which is why I believe they were making an excuse not allowing people inside even though their website was not aware of this. They clearly did not feel responsibile to their system issues. Its frustrating specially this has been a place I have been many times, always took guests visiting california to see this castle. Never expected this poor customer service.

Loved it!

I’ve been before and did the self guided tour. This time I did the guided Cheese and wine pairing tour and it was amazing! So much better! It’s worth the extra money!

IT’S CLASSY ELEGANT BEAUTIFUL

Best Wine experience in Napa . The Castle Has Such elegance The owners vision is sent from above. Simply the best.

Unforgettable Experience

By rishik10758 |

The Castle is breathtaking. I was in awe of its size and beauty. Michael our wine expert helped us with sampling different types of wine which we throughly enjoyed.

The castle stones and tiles were imported from Italy. The art work and layout is exquisite. You have to experience for yourself!

A taste of Tuscany in CA

By Marci R |

Although we are not wine people , we booked to get to see the castle . We were surprised to thoroughly enjoy the wine tasting and took 2 bottles home with us :) I was very happy the vineyard is certified organic . The castle itself is beautiful and awe inspiring for its authenticity . Only wish more of the castle would be available to tour .

Amazing and unbelievable

By BShore2017 |

Our tour guide was amazing!! She was very interactive and descriptive of the wines. We had a wonderful wine tasting paired with an awesome spread. The castle mimics those I have seen in France! Truly magical! We bought wine and joined their club! I wish they updated their events on their website though. Wine was perfect! This is a must visit place!

Great experience with a unique tour

By Tom3318 |

Great winery, the wine and the tour was fantastic with our tour guide Stephen our tour guide was so much fun.and knowledgeable He told us lots of great history stories and knew so much about the winery. The Diamond Mountain tour is worth the price. If you are going to do any tour, do this one. The wine is also very nice wine with various price points

You have to take the time to experience the entire tour and history of the castle and taste their wonderful wines.

By rsceagle2025 |

This is a must-visit and the entire experience was made that much better by sharing our time on the tour with the very knowledgeable tour guide, Audi. Their wines were wonderful but the Castle tour and history was over the top educational. A memory we will always cherish.

Great wine, even better tour with Jacob C. He was so engaging and informative - couldn’t ask for a better afternoon!

Stephane is amazing

By Sebastian V |

Amazing! Stephane was the most incredible tour guide ive ever had. His enthusiasm, passion and extensive knowledge for wine and the estate itself leave nothing to be desired. What an amazing experience 10/10

A Little Taste of Medieval Europe in Napa!

By BAS |

This is a truly amazing experience! Besides the awe-inspiring castle, our guide was wonderful and the wines were some of the best we tased in Napa!

Grammatical Error on its barrels !!!!!!!!!!

By Alessandro F |

It has a BIG ITALIAN GRAMMATICAL ERROR on its BARRELS :

"GLI cinquecento Cavalieri", in Italian is "I cinquecento cavalieri" .
GLI is a plural article for any name starting with a vocal , for example GLI ASTRONAUTI, and: " i" is the plural article used to any name starting with a Consonant, " I Cavalieri "or i cinquecento cavalieri

Loved it

By BBBBTravel |

Our guide, Kerry, was great. The building is fun. Like a wine theme park. Wonderfully designed and loved the animals outside the castle. Well done.

Castle Visit

By Greg-Amy-2 |

Wonderful tour. Excellent wines to taste. Fabulous experience! This was our third visit and it gets better each time.

An uncomfortable experience

By Mobile34914074776 |

The customer service was very disappointing. I’ve been a member and have spent over $3,000 in my short time at castello. I would expect to have decent customer support but unfortunately I was not treated very well by their phone support team.

During our tasting as well, the woman who was serving us gave an uncomfortable amount of attention to my husband (who mentioned feeling uncomfortable) while practically ignoring the rest of our group.

Please train your staff better. I don’t see myself or my family returning.

We had a fabulous visit and tasting with Stephen. Loved the wine and loved the venue. So much history! It is a must for anyone traveling to NAPA.

Great tour but tasting could be better

By Scenic24629618099 |

I went with my wife on Diamond Estate Tour. The castle is really beatiful and feels like you are really in ancient building. The tour, going into dungeons and checking production area is all great but wine tasting while standing on south tower is not that enjoyable. I like that vine rows are next to parking area so you get to walk in vineyard and pick grapes if you prefer, tour guide said we can pick. There is seating available in one of the hall, may be that is offered on a different tour.

Roadside attraction

By David D |

If you like small pours, exaggerated Italian accents, and mediocre service, this roadside attraction is the place for you!

Overpriced and under impressed. There are tons of wineries that offer a better experience within miles.

Swept away to mid evil Italy!

By valgalbrown |

This place is fantastic. While on a girls trip this was our first stop in Napa. What a place! Thomas our tour guide was so amazing in showing us all the intricate details of how the castle was built with as much authenticity as possible to replace a European castle.

After the tour it was on to the wine tasting. We had never had these wines before. For good reason, they are not sold in stores or restaurants. So we were eager to taste them. Wow! So good. Of course we ordered our bottles to be shipped home.

Day one in Napa did not disappoint. Will the other wineries compare to Costello di Amarosa? I’m not sure, this place is magical.

Beautiful place, but not worth it

By Manuelle H |

The place is beautiful. But it is extremely touristy. The tasting is expensive, $60 per person to taste 5 wines.
You choose what you want to try.
The place is full of tourists only.
I recommend visiting other wineries that are much better.
The wines are reasonable too. There are other much better places

Overrated

By Cecilia B |

The man who poured the wine seemed uninterested in us. He didn’t even say his name. Barely mentioned what kind of wine it was and didn’t say anything about it at all. He poured quickly and then left. Felt a bit like a production line. I had higher expectations.

A step back in Time!

By mandrgames |

My wife had such a wonderful time during our 2 hour guided tour with Guide Amy. She was a delight and provided us with so much information about this Medieval Castle. Plus the wine tasting she provided us was a hit.
We have already told many of our friends that they need to add this to their Bucket List of things to do.

Fun but touristy

By Race Wife |

This is a very touristy type place which is to be expected. Very crowded. The tour and tasting lasted a lot longer than we expected so leave extra time for any other reservations. Our tour guide Thomas did a great job. The wines were average but the cheese plate was really good.

Wonderful winery visit in Napa

By bravotangomike |

My wife and I only visited 3 wineries during our brief trip to Napa. I highly recommend going here during a visit to Napa. The castle itself is amazing to see. The wine tasting was excellent (the wine options, our host, the ambiance). Considering the ridiculous cost of wine tastings in Napa, this was pretty reasonable.

Amazing Experience: Must See

By Tyler M |

Great experience and highly recommend taking the guided tour! I took my parents on this tour as I thought it would be a great activity and a nice experience to tour a castle. I wasn’t sure what to expect about the tasting of the wine. Our Guide Kerry did a phenomenal job and has a great personality. If you can have her as your guide, you will be in for a real treat. The history about the castle and the details she provided were very interesting. Plus you get some additional access to rooms if you select the guided tour. The wine tasting section was fun and enjoyable. I was surprised and by the offerings. The wines I selected were enjoyable and purchased a bottle.

Fantastic tour and tasting

By Toni-ann C |

We had a Diamond Mountain Estate Tour and Wine Tasting on a Saturday with Christian and had a great experience. The castle is very impressive, and we enjoyed learning about the winemaking process and the history of the estate! Christian eagerly answered all our questions and was super friendly. After the tour, he curated a fantastic tasting for us. We loved it so much we came back the following day and purchased manyyyyy bottles to ship home. Highly recommend. Thanks Christian!

Fabulous winery with a replica of an Italian castle

By kenji56 |

We enjoyed a tour and wine tasting at this replica of an Italian castle in the Napa region of Northern California. The wines are delicious and the castle elegant. It is a definite treat and well worth the visit.

More of a theme park for kids; wines were just OK

By Marilyn P |

We visited 4 wineries on our trip to Napa and this was my least favorite. It's a total gimmick. Designed to look ancient, but it's only 15 years old. Owners have spent a fortune to create this theme-park style winery (moat, dungeon, torture room, chapel, even a small zoo, etc), but I just wasn't impressed, I've been to real medieval castles and wineries in Europe and this is just not comparable. Our wine tasting was OK. Our server was Italian and seemed to be knowledgeable but his accent was thick and I had trouble understanding all he said. The other 3 wineries (all of which now require advance reservations) were much nicer and had more beautiful views of the landscape & vineyards. My feeling was that this "castello" was created to lure you in to spend money in the gift shop more than the wines. Children were permitted in the wine tasting area, which is unusual. Take the kids maybe for a fun visit to a castle, but as a winery, I'm not a fan.

Professional, accommodating, timely.

By MBSalmon |

Excellent in all ways but beware tasting schedule. We made reservations well in advance because we were traveling with 5 including a young child. This was one of the few vineyards to accommodate kids. We arrived more than half hour before our tasting time. Checked in and everything went smoothly. Explored the castle then were ready to be seated. A local friend had added herself to our reservation then didn't allow travel time to be present by the tasting time. The reservation is intended that all be seated at the time (not straggling in). Fortunately we were allowed to go ahead without her and she never arrived. This is NOT a casual venue. Anyone who feels rushed may have not arrived the 15 min early as recommended on their reservation. We were there 2 hours with many options and generous pours. There were other children dressed appropriately as princesses making it fun. The non alcoholic grape juice was enjoyed. I am not a novice and found their knowledgeable information and the vineyard charming. We placed a sizable order for wine to be shipped and it arrived home before we did. These people are very businesslike. Meet their commitments and top rate all the way around

Medieval Studies

By pohlmanconstruction |

I loved visiting Castello di Amorosa because it was the closest I can get to Italy to visit Medieval sites.
It was fascinating to me as a builder and also as a wine lover

The Diamond Mountain Estate Tour was phenomenal

By Jola O |

Love this winery, the wine and the tour. Chris, our tourguide, was so much fun. He told us lots of great stories and knew so much about the winery. The Diamond Mountain tour is so worth the price. If you are going to do any tour, do this one. We added the chocolate upgrade- delish!

Nice

By fabsq |

Nice! The wines are super delicious... the experience of paying more for tasting is worth it! They explain it to you incredible! The area is super beautiful and the journey is one to never forget.

Must visit when in Napa

Vincenzo made our wine tasting absolutely incredible. We had such a great time. The place is beautiful. A must do when in Napa! Wine is amazing!

Exceptional Wine Tasting - A Must on your Napa Tour

By Fatima G |

We would highly recommend the Cheese & Wine Tour with KERRY. The Castle is absolutely stunning, and the history fascinating. Most importantly, Kerry helps bring the experience to life. Her charismatic personality and deep knowledge of wines and pairings was key in making the experience complete. We plan to be back soon!!

Recent visit Feb 2022

By jonduppler |

Very cool place! The tour around the castle is a must see! We had a great tour guide and outstanding wine.

Must do!

By Nicole |

We had a great time on our wine tour with Jose. He was very knowledgeable, easy to talk to. He was able to recommend places to eat around town. The castle was terrific, and being able to walk around was great. Their wine is very good as well. Was our first winery in Napa and did not disappoint and set the bar high!

Amazing As always

By angelaJ7085WW |

Just love this place. Beautiful property, delicious wine, friendly staff. We always feel like royalty... and usually leave with a case of wine! Can't wait to visit again.

Wine testing and purchasing wine

By usawinnie |

The registration is not good service, didn't tell me clear information, and try to charge us more money which should not. but the wine is good.

A castle in Cali?!?

By Melissa L |

This was the first vineyard we visited on our recent trip to Napa and it did NOT disappoint. We did the self guided tour and tasting since we had a car service and were tight on time. The wines were amazing, we got to pick which we each wanted to try and the grounds and castle were really something special. If you don’t do a guided tour, still go and check out the view from the towers, amazing! Enrico was our host and he was wonderful! Would definitely visit again!

Fun, but not essential stop

By Worlds_of_Wonder |

Unique/great for picture taking, easy to find, and smoothly run. Thought my tour group was too big and tour done too quickly. While my host was pleasant, I thought there was too much selling. I did not think much of the wines, but the wines may work for others depending upon their tastes.

Wonderful experience

By RK24 |

The best wine tasting we did in Napa. Not only is the castle cool, but the wine was fantastic. I liked that there was a wider variety of wines to choose from. They had a number of white and sweet wines. Our guide Alex was fun and entertaining. Would highly recommend!

Very rushed

By SandyM |

A group of nine of us visited the castle last week. This was one of four wineries we went to. Definitely our least favorite. The castle is nice to see but the customer service was horrible. Our host was Amy, she was very very loud, and made us feel very very rushed. The experience was tainted for us and would not recommend coming here. You do not even have stools during your tasting, they are definitely trying to get you in and out as fast as possible. The hostess seemed annoyed and wouldn’t even take a picture without saying she didn’t have much time. We just felt like cattle, getting us in and out quickly.

Heavenly

By Vitalogist |

New, gorgeous castle build of ancient materials. This place was obviously built by a kindred spirit with a love of the medieval period. I figured this ornate winery would charge extra for crappy wine, just because they could. Instead, we found very reasonable prices for some of the best wine we've ever tried. John B. was a magnificently attentive, generous, and personable host. I could go on and on, but instead, I'm just going to tell you this place could be the same once in a lifetime experience for you like it was for us. And worth the reservation.

Would think twice and visit a local winery instead

By lizandra m |

Would have hoped this place was more specific. Came with a group of 12 friends for a seated wine tasting. I spoke to the manager Julio and he explained to me that we were only aloud to view the chapel, great hall and upper terrace, self guided of course. I suppose paying more would have been better to see the dungeon etc. Would not recommend for the price. If you got the money then spend away.

Great girls weekend

By Catrina G |

Super cool place to visit, great wine and atmosphere. It was a really fun girls trip to take. Everything is really authentic and made for great photo ops! I recommend taking the paid tour, the free wandering is cool, but not as cool as the tour. Definitely do a tasting with the chocolates; super yummy!

Highly recommend

By Alicia S |

Beautiful place! Great wine and great customer service! We did a seated tasting and our waiter provided a lot of info on the wines we tasted.

Castle!

By TheSulli |

We had a blast! First of all, you’re in a castle…. What’s not to love! If you are doing a seated tasting make sure you ask for Paolo. Trust me on this! Amazing wine, amazing people, and amazing atmosphere. We can’t wait to go back!

Delightful Experience

By KansasReviewer |

The Castle tour was fantastic. Stephane, our guide, did an amazing job of telling the rich history of the castle, how it was built to where a lot of the materials and furnishings were imported from. He did an excellent job of describing and showing us how their wines are made. As we explored the caves, we had a barrel tasting to compare the wine from freshly made to aged. The castle is a busy place but don't let that deter you from its beauty and charm.

Tourist trap

By David V |

Adults : $50 a head to taste 5 wines. Best to go to a local vineyard. Don't go with Kids. There's nothing for them to do. The "zoo" is a joke. There are 5 animals in a yard.... + Kids $25 a head just to get a shot of grape juice. We didn't even stay an hour as there was nothing else to experience. And if you want to buy a bottle, its very expensive. Its a real shame as we weren't expecting it to be so commercial. A tourist trap. Shame as they have space to make it more interactive for children ( treasure hunt.... its a big castle! ) and if it was the case. I definitely wouldn't mind paying for that.

Not to miss when in the Napa area!

By Marta B |

We took a tour and wine tasting with cheese and charcuterie. There were 4 couples in our group which made it fun meeting new people and sharing our opinions about the wines. Our guide Thomas shared loads of stories and history about the castle, the wine, the owner, and advised us on which food to eat with which wine. This made a huge difference in complementing the wine flavors.

WOW!!! Amazing Experience

By LLV280Z |

This was actually a gorgeous castle; huge with all sorts of nooks and crannies. We couldn't figure out why our tour/tasting time was an odd number but it turns out they send off tours every two minutes. That was a concern when we arrived but no worries; they carried it off perfectly. The place was very crowded but they figured out how to route everyone so you never felt mobbed. Bruno was our guide; he was just right. Professional, efficient, fun, fact filled and really worked with us to make the tasting memorable. Kudos to Bruno! The barrel tasting was unusual but quite cool. The charcuterie was the best we had out of all the wineries we visited and included wonderful cheeses and even figs. This was only the 2nd winery that offered us grapes to taste which is a great idea if it can be done. All in all a great experience!!!!

Try it once, but be prepared for crowds

By seg82 |

This is a place to go once to check it off the list, but there’s not anything that would bring me back again. The views are fantastic and the location is unique, but it was overcrowded and very commercialized compared to other stops we made on our trip.

As part of a tour group, we were pretty rushed, so if castles are your thing, you may want to book this on your own.

Unique Experience!

Had a wonderful time returning nearly 20 years later. Very unique and special.
Jacob was our guide and did a wonderful job and entertained along the way. Upgraded to the premium and was definitely worth it!!

Super nice location for a wine tasting (visit also possible with teenager)

By manu |

Very nice romantic castle with good wines and various offers for wine tasting. Can be visited well with teenagers. There is also a tax for children, but it is not much and especially there are drinks without alcohol.

Great Castle visit…

By coosbaygal |

Fantastic Tour of this Unique Castle… we did the chocolate tour don’t bother paying for that, do the regular castle tour and taste out of a barrel.. the Chocolate tour just gives you some chocolate at the end… I thought it was pairing with chocolate but it was not. The Castle tour is awesome and you see the underground of this fabulous place… you taste wine from a barrel which is unique… The tour does not start on time and they wait for Late people which is unfortunate… Highly recommend but bring snacks as they offer none..

Awesome Experience

By Annie K |

The castle is very beautiful and it feels like it is in Europe. The tour guide is very detailed. There are some historical things. It is very meaningful. Wine tasting is good too especially sweet wine which I like it so much.😁

Wonderful landscape and winery of people

By 재복 이 |

A wonderful combination of landscape and castle, and above all, a winery with a very friendly staff.
It is good to visit with Sterling Binyard. Thank you very much for helping us (adult 2, child 1). The English was not fluent, but it really helped me to find the right wine. The child loved it too much in kindness. I hope to visit you again later.

Fake castle.

By Stephanie O |

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY . First of all this isn’t a real CASTLE !!!! We purchased 2 tastings of 5 different wines for 135$ and that’s fine . I’m in Napa , I came to spend , no problem . However the pours were a complete joke ! The waiter who helped us was only worried about the tip he thought he was going to get . The area where you sit to taste the wine is vague and there is nothing special about it . There’s way nicer places . The “castle” doesn’t even have a semi authentic castle feel . Feels like a fake Hollywood “castle” . The only authentic thing in this place was the chicken that was trying to escape out in the front . I hate leaving negative reviews , but gosh couldn’t help myself .

Castle Napa

By TerrasTravels |

This is a must when visiting Napa! Make reservations far in advance! If you don’t have a reservation, they will not even let you on the grounds. The venue is spectacular in and of itself! You can roam the castle! And there’s goats and animals too! Once inside when you have your tasting, they are really accommodating, knowledgeable, and the customer service is impeccable! My family, friends, and I had such a good time here! Definitely get the cheese and the chocolate! Food and wine divine! Their wine stoppers are pretty cool if you notice them! They also sell them in the shop as well as many other things and it’s fun to look around down there! We definitely got more than our moneys worth, and will definitely be back when in Napa again!

Transported in time and space

By Laneta M |

Amazing experience altogether! Incredibly authentic interpretation of an ancient Italian castle, believably set in a farming environment complete with goats and chickens. Worth the climb to the parapet where the view is amazing. The tasting room is another level, physically and emotionally. Our sommelier Gerardo was a fount of knowledge and enthusiasm.

Cramped. Unwelcoming.

By Z4596DL |

Such a poorly organized effort to provide a tasting. Ignored most of the entire time. Couldn't get any assistance or information regarding thus place , barely got info on the wines.

Welcome to the Experience of a Lifetime!

By Lilly M |

Castello di Amorosa was an experience all on its own. The self-guided tour was astonishing, and it felt as if we were in another country. The views and setup of the entire facility were to perfection. Prior to our tour of the grounds, where each section of grapes was labeled by the type of wine it would produce, we had a wonderful host, Frederico. He had only been there for 15 days but knew everything about each wine he served us. I love learning about the method in which different varieties of wine are made, and he certainly knew his way around. That being said, I would strongly recommend requesting Frederico for a wonderful experience.

The wines were fantastic, and as a red wine drinker, I loved trying the unique reds, along with mixing them up and starting with a couple of types of rosĂŠ-style wines. My husband loved the dessert wines. However, I took note of a few of my favorites. We started off with a smooth, double gold rosĂŠ that was delicious, despite being considered a dry wine. If you love a good rosĂŠ, the "GewĂźrztraminer" was simply amazing. It was nothing like any wine I have tried before, and the floral notes really made it unique. As Frederico said, once you try it, you will recognize it easily the next time you have it. I believe this to be 100% true as it was an unforgettable tasting. The "Wine Enthusiast Merlot" was delectable with a nice touch of spice and a smooth finish. We also tried two cabernets, the "James Suckling Cabernet Sauvignon," my personal favorite of the two, which was very full-bodied and smooth. My second favorite cabernet, and one that Frederico mentioned is often tastier as it ages was the "Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon." This was a delicious cabernet. However, as he mentioned, it would be much tastier with a little age.

Overall, I feel as though you are paying in large part for the experience, but it is an experience of a lifetime, and the wines are very good, so it is well worth it. I strongly encourage Castello di Amorosa for both the wine and the experience and time we spent there. It was well worth it. Reservations are a must!

Thank you again, Frederico!

A colossal castle adventure?

By thewennlunds |

Six of us friends entered this grand castle and were seated in the courtyard. Wine began to flow into our glasses one bottle after another. We felt as if we were the only ones there. The atmosphere was outstanding, service terrific, wine delicious and the castle was amazing. A most see on your next trip.

Horrible hospitality

By Mel W |

BE AWARE if you are from a different culture or not so familiar with the wine tasting process.

I recently visited this winery for a Father’s Day celebration with my family. Our overall experience did not meet our expectations. Furthermore, we felt embarrassed by the actions of one of the staff members. He ruined our Father’s Day celebration.

As someone from a different culture and visiting for the first time, I was unfamiliar with the wine tasting protocols. Unfortunately, our server did not explain any rules or procedures, seemingly assuming we were already aware of them. Towards the end of our tasting, she left a nearly empty bottle on our table and did not return.

Unaware of the rules due to the lack of explanation, I attempted to pour the remaining wine into a glass. At that moment, a different server approached our table aggressively, admonishing us and accusing us of actions that could "put them out of business." This confrontation, without any prior clarification of the rules, was both unacceptable and culturally insensitive.

While our assigned server was nice, this incident with the other staff member significantly marred our experience and ruined our Father’s Day celebration. We were left feeling embarrassed and uncomfortable in front of other guests due to the lack of proper communication and the aggressive response from the other server.

I hope the winery takes this feedback seriously to improve the experience for future guests.

Wine tasting

By caliendo1986 |

We had a wonderful morning. The place is gorgeous, the welcome from the staff is perfect, and, last but not least, the wines are really well made. Therefore, in addition to the aesthetic impact, there is a great deal of work made up of passion, competence, professionalism and great ability. The tasting was conducted by Dimitri Stephan Delipei, a young talented sommelier and winemaker originally from Greece. It was great. He immediately put us at ease, despite our far from perfect English, and with savoir faire he accompanied us on an unforgettable tasting, allowing us to spend a couple of hours of great quality. If Napa has reached its current level, it also owes it largely to people/professionals like him, who contribute every day to raising the bar of excellence in this magnificent region.
Thank you !

Unique experience in an ancient (moved) castle!

By Jeff R |

Go for the seated wine tasting and enjoy the view!
Hopefully you will get lucky and get Jose as your tasting expert! He is so very knowledgeable about all the wines and the area in general!
We ended up joining the wine club so we could experience this great wine at home too!

Intriguing

By Laura T |

I have toured castles in Ireland and dozens of wineries in California. I found d find this your interesting and informative. Our tour guide, Stephan, was quite charming and humorous. I booked the Diamond Tour, which included a stroll through much of the castle. I think I’d put a time to sit a while in the middle of the tour. I walk with a cane; I was quite tired by the end. I did purchase some hotties of wine.

We were oversold. NOT HAPPY

By Allen L |

The tasting was great, but our guy was too great of a salesman. I, stupidly feel ripped off. He told us that if we purchased an additional bottle or two that we would get a member ship. That bottle or two turned into quite a bit more. Are your tasting guys paid on commission? The membership that we did get seems to provide next to nothing. We ended up spending over $600, which I did not realize until down stairs. That is way too much money. I did not want to spend that much. As I said the membership seems to provide very little. On top of that I was handed a case of wine and had to walk in the pouring rain to the car. No help was offered. I am 70 years old, the parking lot is a good distance from the tasting room. I USED TO REALLY LIKE THE TASTINGS AT Catello di Amorosa. I really like the wine. BUT, I WILL NOT BE BACK.

Must go-to!

By Courtney B |

I cannot say enough about our wine tasting at Castello di Amorosa. Valerie was our host/sommelier and she made our first visit to Napa Valley phenomenal. She was able to give suggestions on wine selections and shared the history and makings of each wine we tasted. Such great company and delicious wines, made it a no brainer for my fiance and I to ship a case home to share at our wedding.

Thank you Valerie for such a wonderful tasting, we cannot wait to go back to Castello di Amorosa again!

Overrated and overpriced

By Laura |

The castle and grounds are absolutely stunning there is no denying that but for the price we paid we were just expecting more. At the very least we were hoping to like the wines but we really weren’t blown away by them at all, the only one we both really liked was the Oakville red priced at $80 a bottle. It just felt underwhelming considering we paid so much money in comparison to other wine tastings. I am pleased that we went as it was good to experience it but the actual wines were not all that. Also the vast majority of the rooms and areas of the castle is closed off to private tours which we were not aware of prior to our visit so it felt we had quite restricted access. At the end of our tasting we asked if we could purchase more wine to drink but they said no which we couldn’t understand as the area was very quiet…

Overpriced

By Wanderer52446607978 |

The castle was built by a European man inspired by European castles. Walking through the castle to see all of its features takes approximately 40 minutes. Add wine tasting and that is another 40 minutes. For the small fee of $64.50 ($60 plus tax) you spend a little longer than 1 hour and a half in the castle. As someone who lived in Germany and Spain, who never paid more than 15 Euro to enter one of the 20 castles I've toured, I would not recommend. The personal tour is not worth $30 and those sips of wine isn't worth the other $30

Wine tasting in a California castle

By Kristen V |

Natalia was absolutely fantastic! We did the Cheese & Charcuterie Wine Pairing Tour. Natalia was our guide. She shared her love of Castello di Amorosa and wine. She got us very excited for the Vinyard. The wine is genuinely good. The place is very unique. It's a castle, build like a castle of old with Mason work. Other than the ceilings being higher, plumbing/electrical in wall, and less smooth rocks...this place reminded if castles in Europe. It is a great replica that took decades to build. The wines are unique and very good. Very similar to wines in Italy. I would highly recommend visiting. I hope you get Natalia, she is great!

Does not live up to the hype

By A J |

I wanted to love this place, but it felt like Disneyland from the moment we drove up and had to be directed to a packed parking lot. There were so many people we couldn't take any personal photos without getting strangers in them, and the beautiful rooms where the wine tastings occur are loud with waiters and waitresses running between tables like Chili's. I would have loved the experience if they limited the guest count to about half of what they had. Also, after your tasting, you are not allowed to purchase any more glasses of wine to sip at leisure or to walk around with, which is one of the fun things about visiting vineyards, IMO.

So many other vineyards cater to smaller groups and are just as beautiful. I would recommend skipping this one and trying some less touristy locales.

Disappointing. Not family friendly, castle dungeons not available to tour, and lackluster wines.

By Susan A |

Disappointing, not for families. We went in July 2025 based on reviews and its appearance on lists of family friendly activities in Napa. Contrary to 5e we websites, the dungeon and armory are not available unless you pay for a 21 and over experience. This is not clear from the website. The building is impressive and reminded us of Italy…and our server was very friendly. However the wine was so so, so if we were going to taste wine we cannot recommend it. We were advised other wineries cater more for teenagers etc… I would recommend just going to the ground and checking out the gift store and walk around the grounds for free. If they ever re-open the other parts of the castle to tour, then reconsider.

Wonderful wine tour

By Karen T |

Fantastic tour with informative and friendly guide. Enjoyed the wine tasting and purchased 2 bottles of wine after tasting 5.

Great visit

By Ken M |

Castello’s di Amoross was the only winery we had time to visit on this trip to San Francisco. We planned to spend about an hour and a half tasting wine and then another hour or so touring the authentic replica castle. As it turned out, the wine tasting went on all afternoon and we never got to see the castle. Their wines are wonderful. I was happy to restock my cellar on this trip and we’re going back next summer.

Wonderful castle tour and lovely wines

By Adventurers11805 |

We loved the castle tour. We opted for the full tour with tasting and cheese and charcuterie at the end. We loved the wine so much we ordered a mixed case to be shipped. We tasted about 6 reds and 4 whites and glad we did as we ordered 6 different varieties. The castle is beautiful. The cave was very interesting and the dedication to detail was amazing. We're both Italian so it had extra meaning to us as some of the craftsmanship was done by Florentines. And some wines are definitely Italian crafted. We highly recommend this tour. Apparently you can only buy these wines direct from Amorosa so I hope to order more next year.

the staff was attentive to details, very friendly and knowledgeable, the wine and the scenery around the castle are wonderful

Surprise of the trip!

By Glenn P |

Initially we thought that this would be somewhat of a tourist trap with mediocre wine. The two cases we bought should indicate that we were presently surprised at the wine quality. Your was great as well.

Please don’t waste ur money…

By harpreet s |

Horrible… pathetic… should not waste your money.. the wine tasting is a joke… the Castle is good thought to visit. But you will not like to pay $60 for just visiting a Castle…I am going to ask for refund for the money spent… thieves they are!!!

Good wine

By dianewagner64 |

We had a lovely visit. The castle was amazing. The wine astonishing. The only fly in the ointment was the person running the tasting at our table. He was ….idk. Just left a bad feeling with everyone.

Must see! Make reservations!

By 6rhinos |

Wine tasting was NO pressure tasting experience. 5 pours is plenty to have great time to tour this beautiful castle. After being in may castle’s in spain, england and austria this pretty authentic for a modern day replica of a castle.

A MUST experience for Napa

By April C |

Highly recommend. This was an extremely enjoyable experience. Take the tour, it is definitely worth it.

Amazing Tuscan-style castle but disappointing wine tasting experience

By PF4Paris |

Our group of nine purchased the premium wine-tasting package. We arrived a little early and had a chance to explore a bit of the castle before our tour. Our guide was enthusiastic and well-rehearsed…a little too well-rehearsed. And, for the money, we’d expected a more intimate, more personalized environment for the wine-tasting. Instead, we were brought into a large room with a number of other parties. Just not the experience we’d hoped for.

Excellent Service

By mycj75 |

We took some friends that came to visit us from Colombia and they love the place and our host Chloe was wonderful

Confusing but enjoyable

By lmradeke |

The view and the place was beautiful. We enjoyed our visit and the server who did our wine tasting was wonderful. We felt a little lost at first, it would be nice when you checked in if someone would greet you and would go over how we were to proceed. We had to find someone and ask what we needed to do, where to go, when to wine taste. Other than that it was great.

Great wine tasting experience!!!

By publiussulla |

We booked a wine tasting here and it was extraordinary! Paolo was our sommelier. He was incredibly well informed and guided us to choices that suited our individual pallets. White and sweet for me and Red for the hubby. We liked a few of them so much we bought a case of several different kinds. It was a tantalizing tasting experience for the taste buds! Two thumbs up! If you're hungry get the charcuterie box it will def fill ya up! Thanks!

Amazing castle and wine tasting

By audra27 |

This castle is absolutely beautiful. The guided tour and wine tasting was amazing thanks to our tour guide, Jacob. I toured with my disabled father and we were completely accommodated including the castle supplying a wheelchair for my dad. The wines were great and we enjoyed them all so much we joined the membership and ordered some wine to be delivered to our home. I highly recommend this tour and tasting.

new years tasting

By graylangley |

we visited while in NAPA for the new years celebration. We enjoyed the time and purchased a case of wine from the 2020 release, to be shipped in October and I joined as a wine club member as well.
The grounds are very nice and it was fun to tour and taste in the below ground area. Because of staffing constraints for the Holiday season the host needed to move rapidly, but we were able to get a good selection of wines to taste and purchase.

Mixed Reviews

By Matt |

TRAVELERS TAKE NOTE! This place is beautiful but BUSY! I am so glad that I made a reservation, as they have a gate keeper that will not allow you on the grounds unless you have a reservation to be there.
Pros:
-This place is very unique! This castle was built over 30 years ago, however, the owner/creator wanted to create a castle that looks like something out of old world Italy. Everything is hand crafted, and aged to create a wonderful feel of stepping back in time.
-This place has a great wine selection, no matter what your preference is.
-This castle is set up on a hill with beautiful grounds that are well maintained that have a great view. Additionally, they host lots of barn yard animals which is unique.
-They are staffed extremely well, so you are never waiting long for your next wine to try.
Cons:
-SO BUSY! There are large crowds here. If you don't like being around large groups of people on vacation, then I don't think this place would be for you. Trying to carry on a conversation in the wine tasting rooms is difficult.
-I think some of the best parts of the castle you are unable to see unless you pay for the full guided castle tour, not just the self-guided tour and tasting.

Restaurants in Napa Valley

By Erica M |

Castello Di Amorosa is located in the Napa region. We made wine tasting (we were with kids and they served grape juice - they loved it) and we tasting 5 different wines (3 white and 2 red). Then we walked through the castle (it is beautiful!) and ⁇ the space. TIP: If you are staying in San Francisco, know that Napa Valley has a much warmer climate (it's really hot), so go with light clothes and light sunscreen and hats,

Castello di Amorosa

By Megan B |

Very busy, very touristy, so be prepared. But so cool. Huge castle built as an authentic Italian castle. Has catapults, murder holes, torture chambers… o and of course wine. Would highly recommend the tour and tasting. You Get to choose 6 different wines from their list which was awesome so you aren’t drinking something (like Chardonnay) that you don’t like. Even though this place is crawling with people it is a must see. Highly recommend

Great visit, highly recommend

By Dana A |

What a fantastic visit we had today! Stefano is an excellent host and sommelier. He could speak to every wine wine with expertise and was so conversant and gracious. Our 10 yo daughter who has Down Syndrome was treated kindly and with respect. She thoroughly enjoyed her grape juice tasting in a wine glass. The wines are exceptional and the whole castle experience is well worth the visit

Good but not great!

By FilemonL |

The castle is beautiful and the tour interesting. However, Stephan our host has hard to understand at times as he spoke very fast with a heavy French accent. Often laughed at his own jokes that were hard to understand. The red wines were better but would have liked to sit down for the tasting after walking around.

Great tour and wine tasting

By WakefulDreams |

Had a great tour and tasting of the vineyard. My favorite part was the cellars and all the rooms that store wine. It’s huge down there. It does get crowded but it was nice for both the view and the wine tasting. Knowing that you’re not going to an intimate tasting allowed me to enjoy the tour for what it was. Didn’t love the wines but that was a personal thing. Overall a fun experience.

Great winery to tour with kids

By Mark T |

With coloring pages, chocolate and grape juice this is a wonderful winery to enjoy with your kids. They also offered a wide selection of wines from sweet to dry

New castle with private wines not found in stores

By PtLomafoodie |

My friend and I enjoyed the novelty of a winery with a castle built just 18 years ago.

There is a guided tour of the castle’s chapel, enormous (height of ceilings and length of room) dining hall, torture chamber, and basement with barrels of wine.

Lastly, we are taken into the cellar tasting room. There were many wines on the list. I chose to purchase a Chardonnay, a Vermentino, and a Pinot Noir. Shipping was a reasonable cost of $25 to San Diego, CA, in June.

It's different, but not doing it again

By Charlie G |

Amazing high end wines, meh mid tier wines. The distinct difference between the premium packages and the normal/lite packages stand out. Case in point, if you're in the Wine Club, you have cheaper access to the tours and sit and sip downstairs in the A/C basement. Normal package has you in the non-A/C dining hall; which in the summer gets uncomfortable fast.
It's a neat castle with a good story, but I probably wouldn't want to return despite the good wine.

A castle in California

By kitkat0804 |

Loved the place! How cool is it to be in a castle in California. There was a lot of attention to detail to recreate this castle. Our party came here for the wine tasting, but was swept away at the magnificence of the castle, grounds, animals, and of course the wine too.

Make sure to make reservations online before you come.

Beautiful grounds, not so good tasting experience

By JCHaywood |

Let me first say the castle and grounds are beautiful. However, the tasting was not good and honestly it could be because of our server. She just asked us what we wanted we told her and she poured, she may have thrown in a little fact like it's good with popcorn or a grilled cheese but that's about it. After doing other tastings, we were disappointed in this one.

Great Experience

By sbnephro |

We visited the castle and the surrounding estate with my daughter and grandchildren. We all enjoyed the visit. The staff is very courteous and knowledgeable about details of the wine making and family oriented. The wine tasting was an unforgettable experience. Marco let us taste many excellent wines and he presented us some very good samples of great wine. The children enjoyed the grape juice and happily participate in the tasting. Thank you for the experience

Superb visit, very good wine

By jf |

Great visit, our guide (Alex) was really interesting and funny. He made us laugh throughout the visit while explaining the construction of the castle. Tasting very very well too.

Nightmare Valley

By bayard888 |

I traveled here with my family on July 1st and what an unpleasant experience it was. During the wine tasting, our waiter/host whose name is Paolo made a racist gesture towards us by pulling his eyes back and said he's Japanese (we're Asian). It was completely uncalled for and ended up ruining the rest of our day. Not only that, he wasn't informative on the wines that he served us. We tried to contact management over this interaction but we never received any response. I would not recommend going to this winery.

Lovely views and wine

By plano88 |

Great decently priced wine and a nice castle to walk around in. Great for pictures. Nothing else like it in Napa.

Gonzalo!!!

By allenl1408 |

What an amazing castle! The full tour is a must and hope for Gonzalo to lead you on it. The wine is secondary to the experience, but there are a lot of options, especially if you and another person share the tasting...tens wines to sample that way.

A great guide in Castello di amorosa

By Eve R |

Fun visit of a reproduction of a medieval castle. There aren't many around in the United States, and they did a great job at reproducing it.
Honestly our favorite thing about the tour was our guide Brunol. He was funny and knowledgeable and very happy to share more facts about the history of the place and the wine. He was also very personable remembering details about each guest to make them feel more included. If he ever reads this review we hope he knows how thankful we are for his kindness! (From a French-American couple)

Great wines! Besides the Castle Hype

By antnee65 |

I had read some reviews that were negative. Some calling it 'A Disneyland Atmoshere' But the wines we were served for the basic Seated Tasting were all very good to Great!! We visited several other traditional wineries that served lesser quality wines for their basic tastings! We did not feel rushed either (We were there on a Friday)

Learning while having fun

By wiseguys20 |

We had a great time visiting the castle. We are just learning about wine and appreciated the help of our server who knew how to tailor our choice to what we would like by asking just the right questions.

There was no visit

By VeronicaRSM |

Did not visit after the terrible welcome the “hostesse “ gave us. She was very unpleasant and therefore we decided to go elsewhere

Unexpected discovery in Napa that was family-friendly.

By AndreaM2011 |

Reservations are required to enter the property and we opted for a self-guided tour. Sparkling juice is available for those under age or who just are not drinking wine. It was a nice diversion because it was unlike any other winery experience. We visit Sonoma and Napa regularly and (aside from the different varieties of wines) the grounds are distinctive.

Expected more

By Lynette L |

Very enjoyable tour but for the $$$ was hoping for more educational winemaking/ grape growing information. That being said we enjoyed our tour and tasting

Napa Trip

By Ernesto R |

Pretty cool experience. Castle is well done. The tour could be improved, should add more information. Reserve in advance

Underwhelmed at best

By Margaret L |

My husband and two kids were very excited about this visit. From the reviews, I expected an experience that both my husband and two children would enjoy. Unfortunately, we were all extremely underwhelmed.

The castle is extraordinary and you can tell a lot of money went into its creation. I wish more money had been put into customer experience. It was raining when we arrived, and we were directed to a tiny patio umbrella with several other families to stage until “somebody called us”. When we were finally called, they told us we could “go ahead”. We had no idea where we were headed, but finally found the tasting room after several minutes of wandering around. Once we got there, we weren’t greeted. Our server put the list of wines down in front of us and told us to pick 5. He also sternly said that the kids would get 1 tiny, flimsy paper cup of grape juice and no more.

We were so disappointed - there were so many ways he could’ve put a little more effort into making it a memorable experience. He didn’t talk about the wines despite numerous tries in my part. At one point, he directed me to read the back of the wine bottle. The wines weren’t great, but we were there more for the experience with our family and we were solely disappointed. I expected the kids to have at least a couple of different grape juices to “taste”.

We drove 90 minutes from San Francisco and would not recommend this winery.

Fun Place to Visit, Average Wine

By kzogger |

Super busy place, so crowded! Fun place to visit, interesting rooms in the maze of the basement with armor, torture chairs and devices, etc. Guide was great, knowledgeable and very sweet. Wines were okay, but again, very nice ambience in the tasting room (some ants, though). Nice place to visit if you're not an oenophile. My favorite part was...all the cute animals on the grounds! Hens, roosters, sheep, ostriches, oh my!

🥰

By psychicreaderca |

Customer service is amazing overall experience was fabulous our waiter who has five stars in Service on us he told us a story all the wine to tell us of everything about it and where I came from and how it was made we were all Looking care ofus as experienced that was better than anything he served honors customer service experience that an honor to enjoy yourself their friends and family enjoyed herself because of the waiter who put his heart and soul

Excellent wine and atmosphere. Ask for Gerardo!

By Tiffany A |

Must ask for for Gerardo! My daughter and I had one of the most lovey, laughter filled, above and beyond customer service and all around “wine experience” today, and Gerardo was 100% responsible for making this a memory we will will never forget. The wine, oh my the wine.. be sure to try the dark salted chocolate with all he reds.. thank you Gerardo!

Beautiful Castle

Beautiful winery built within a beautiful castle. Wonderful ambiance with an old world feel and great staff that makes you feel at home.

Great wine but commercial feel

By David D |

Enjoyed our seTed wine tasting but didn’t like the a Disney feel of
This winery. Do appreciate the authenticity of the Costello but too many people. Despite it all we enjoyed the wine and our host Thomas was great.

Wine lovers

By flavia L |

Beautiful place to visit! We are already planning to go back ! Wines are amazing so glad I could take some home with me! Our server was very polite and funny we had a great time

Beautiful place

By jayne |

This is a must-see if this is your first time visiting. We did the seated tasting with the chocolate and charcuterie! I highly recommend this to enhance your experience. We each received generous pours of our 5 tastings, and there are so many options to choose from! After our tasting we were free to wander around the castle. On our way out don't forget to visit the animals including the famous Giacomo!

Very Commercialized and Busy

By MiddletonWI |

This was a very commercialized experience and more like going to a "wine" amusement park. Just be aware it is not very personalized experience and there are children allowed which is ok if that's what you're looking for. The building itself is beautiful and worth seeing just don't have high expectations on the wine tasting experience.

Tour of Castello di Amorosa

We toured your facility last week and have to tell you we enjoyed it tremendously. This was the second time we toured your facility. Our tour guide was fantasic.

Great winery in the heart of Napa

By offthemainroadtravels |

The architectural brilliance of mid-evil Europe along with the history is a fascinating time period that holds great interest to me. When there is a winery with a castle that represents the time period I am immediately drawn to it for the look on the outside and inside with the feel for it on the inside. At Castello di Amorosa venturing into the tasting room I feel like this is how it was back in those times. A dark, dimly lit, with a dank like quality just feels special to me. Their wines match the quality and effort put into the castle with quality and care you would expect upon seeing the winery at the bottom of the hill. Their rosĂŠ had this light pomegranate raspberry flavor while the zinfandel had complex notes of black current fruit. Their Merlot was an amazing flavor with its notes of cherry, chocolate, and wood from the barrels. Finally the Riesling had excellent notes of peach and apricot flavors finishing nicely with a sweet mixture of both. Parts of Castello di Amorosa were destroyed in the California wild fires of 2020 but the castle remains in tact. As of this writing they are determined to forge ahead and rebuild was lost. If you are in the area you should give them a try as the great wine combined with the castle structure offers a one of a kind wine tasting experience. Kids are welcomed if accompanied by some 21 or over. $$-$$$

The tour is a must!

By Claudia P |

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the castle and wine tasting! Our guide Stefan was delightful, knowledgeable, personable and humorous. I don’t even like wine much (but my friends do!), yet the wine tasting was fun because of Stefan. And the grounds were beautiful to wander around after the tour. Loved the bearded goat!

Unique grounds and building, friendly staff, good wines

By Gee See 24 |

The castle was a really unique and fun experience. The team at Castello di Amorosa were very pleasant and welcoming. We enjoyed our wine tasting and will definitely be back with more friends to taste more of their wine and likely do a tour. The wines represented a wide variety of Italian and Italian inspired varietals. The wines were very drinkable and approachable.

Like a trip to Tuscany in Napa valley.

By DebbieK2662 |

We really enjoyed our tour here. Beautiful place with interesting history. New castle constructed with old world historical materials and features. Loved the tasting and looking around the castle grounds.

Great Wine Tasting

By John M |

The Castello wines were delicious and presented in a unique and beautiful setting. We absolutely loved the hospitality shown by Gianni.

A fantastic afternoon, and I’m not even a wine drinker.

By C_More_Stuff |

My wife found Castillo di Amaorosa online, and the sweeping castle pictures convinced me that it would be worth the drive even if I wasn’t into wine tasting.

Our tour guide (Amy) made the entire tour worthwhile,
and took it as a personal challenge to find something for everyone in our group. Yes, I had a fantastic time at a winery and yes, we found a bottle of wine I actually enjoy. Very worth your time!

Beautiful Castle winery

By NjHyper |

Took the tour of the castle which is an amazing replica. Got to see production rooms and wine storage as well as a torture chamber, great hall and much more. Jacob was our tour guide and he was entertaining and funny as well as knowledgeable. We sampled their wines. Which were delicious! Definitely one of my favorite vineyards in the Sonoma valley

The Castle and its Historical Features and Setting is Amazing!

By jstoppleworth |

I have attended the castle tour several times, and have enjoyed it each time. This trip was different in that, because of ambient noise, and the guides rapid rate of speech and softer loudness level, it was hard to hear her voice even when standing right in front of her. I understand that you are pushing people through to accommodate all the tours and visitors, but perhaps some vocal coaching might be helpful.

Mediocre

By Kcopeland |

The castle was very beautiful. Wine was very average and during the tasting it felt the membership was very pushed. Felt more of a tourist trap than a great vineyard experience.

Castelli Di Amorosa is a must

By ABrooks |

Alexander our tour guide was knowledge and entertaining. He had us try some wines I would not have chosen if it weren’t for him. We did 3 winery’s when in Napa and he was the best tour guide of the 3 vineyards. We did buy some wine due to no retail presents. I highly recommend this wine tasting and if you get Alexander as your guide he is light hearted and fun!

Disney

By ALIBMQ |

Very pretty, super contrived! Almost felt like Disney Land. The tasting was pricey and very rushed like she just wanted it over. A very pretty setting but not worth the $ for the tasting

Excellent

By gracemontenegro |

The attention was good. The young man responded all our questions, give us clear explanation about each variety and offered other options as requested

Can a Real Castle be built in modern times? Yes!

By Kathy W |

Castello di Amorosa, 4045 St Helena Hwy, Calistoga, CA
Tour taken: Diamond Estate Tour & Reserve Wine Tasting

A special visit, in so many ways! This is not an amusement park building but an actual, legitimate European-style castle. Without giving too much away we recommend upgrading a bit and taking a guided tour that includes the underground cellars and tunnels. Who wouldn’t enjoy visiting a fully equipped torture chamber?

On a side note – there are numerous ramps, dimly lit rooms and steep stairs in the castle so I wouldn’t recommend it for mobility or visually impaired guests.

Wine-tasting in a castle is must!

By Natalie |

We went here for wine tasting and because we saw how beautiful the grounds are in photos, and yes, we did wine-tasting in a castle. They did not disappoint, it looks like a spot that you see in movies and read in books.

They have indoor and outdoor spots for wine-tasting and they have a good selection of wines to choose from. I personally enjoyed their sweet wines but the charcuterie board that came in a takeaway box was just okay.

They are family-friendly and pet-friendly, and they also have farm animals including an emu. They also have good local finds in the souvenir stores. It's kinda pricey but I personally think that it's worth visiting.

Unmissable tour in Nappa Valey.

By Beto Roriz |

Visiting Castello di Amorosa is a fascinating experience, a wonderful winery with award-winning wines and a guided tour that is the icing on the cake.
And we were very happy because the person who introduced us to the winery was a Brazilian woman who did the entire tour speaking Portuguese.
Sommelier LĂdia Lima gave us a real lesson on how to appreciate the various types of wine sold by this wonderful winery.

Day trip to the Castello

By shawnswantner |

Me and my wife always have a fun trip to visit a very cool renaissance era castle and have great wine! Thomas was very awesome and helped us choose some delicious wine.

An enchanting Italian castle in Napa!

By Touristfamily |

We did the diamond estate tour, which I highly recommend. Stephane Baty was our guide, and if you can request a guide, I would definitely ask for him. He was charming, well informed, and had such a love of wine that it was contagious. I am new to tours like this and learned so much, both about wine, the vineyard, and the building. He also gave his honest opinions and had great advice, helping us to choose the right wines that worked for us. When I tasted a wine, he was able to decipher my leanings and steer me toward new wines I would also like. Get the chocolate package with the tour!

Tour and engagement

By christopherlain |

Our family did a tour, a tasting, and had a couple get engaged. Everything went perfectly, and the folks at Castello di Amorosa provided great service. On top of that, it was a beautiful location.

Bottles fell out of the paper bag and shattered

By JohnW1689 |

We went to the Castello di Amorosa winery yesterday. It was sunny and beautiful. Sid was our sommelier and taught us about wine tasting. It was crowded but everything was well organized. We then bought three bottles from the winery. When we got home and took them out from the trunk, the bottom of the paper bag fell out. All three bottles were shattered. It ruined an otherwise enjoyable day. I am not sure why Castello di Amorosa uses poor quality paper bags for the wines. It was not even double bagged. All other winery we visited use thick cardboard boxes. Castello di Amorosa's wine is fine but the sad ending just leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Nice wines...but a bit skimmy the samples

By gary f |

This place has a great selection of "sweet wines" if that what your taste desires. The castle itself is very neat to explore and great for photos. Just wish the pouring wasn't so stingy.

Deborah was great

By Diane Alexander |

The castle was ok it was a real tourist attraction, not for me a typical wine tasting experience, I am used to. However Deborah made it fun and a really lovely experience. I have to say all the wines we tasted were delightful and I would highly recommend the wines they produce.

A treat to visit.

By Christine |

Beautiful upscale Winery. Offered grape juice for my son and I with fancy chocolates. Had a wonderful walk through.

Best Wine & Tasting Experience in Napa Valley

By Tposton86 |

The Castello is where I bring all my friends and tell anyone traveling to the area that this is a must go spot. The winery tour through the castle is amazing and did I mention the wine? Oh, the wine!!! It is absolutely delicious! You can't go wrong at any level of wine. (and it is unsulfited, as wine should be) To quote my brother when I took him to another winery in the valley after the Castello "It's like going from a steakhouse to McDonald's," not to dig on others but to explain, just how good the wine is here!!

Nice wines. Can accommodate better people who purchase wines.

By zionarubin1 |

We visited the castle to do a seated wine tasting. The tasting was excellent! Nice wines and great staff. I ended up buying a case. However, there was no accommodation to get a full tour of the castle after buying a case. Why??

Great experience and fun day

By kshelby123 |

This was obviously a must because the castle is so unique. We started at
V. Sattui which owns the castle and finished at the castle. We did a self guided tour and walked around the whole castle and wine tasted below which was really fun.

Vacation in Napa

By sdionne2022 |

We were really impressed with the overall experience. The wines are great and unique compared to most Napa wineries. The experience was fantastic. The castle is awesome. Our host, Paulo, we great and really enhanced our experience. Can't wait to return.

Great tour guide!

By steffbrarian |

Highly recommend reserving a tour ahead of time. Our group of 9 were joined by one other couple for an informative and fun jaunt through the castle. We learned so much about the wine making process and the construction of the castle, delved into the tunnels and inspected the torture chamber! Our hilarious guide, Alexander, kept us in stitches and made all of us feel so welcome. His recommendations for the tasting were spot on. The castle and the wine were great- Alexander was the star of the show! Try to request him as your guide if you are up for laughing the whole time.

Fun with Carlo

By Bryan D |

Fun wine tasting at the castle. Wines were very enjoyable. The castle is fun to explore. Our host, Carlo, was knowledgeable and fun to listen to. The tasting price is not a bargain but the sites and the wine make it worth a stop.

Italian style castle with wine tasting

By Shanelle |

Popular wine tasting spot in an Italian castle. Came here with a group of seven as part of a bachelorette and we had a table booked in advance. A couple of other friends found this place to be overhyped and the wine to not be that good, but for the ambience admins the chance to explore the castle, it’s with a visit. They do have sparking grape juice options for those who don’t drink. Our server was nice but slow. He also forgot to bring out our bread with the charcuterie and when we added on a chocolate tasting at the beginning of the tasting, he neglected to bring that until we had to ask another waitress for help. The castle is cute and the place was bustling in a Saturday afternoon. We made reservations and I would suggest doing that as well.

Complete rip off - fake castle - average ÂŁ10 wines

By Fairalways |

Elevated position, great views - that's where the positives end.

This is a fake castle, cleverly constructed but it's fake, end of. The wine tour is also a money factory, packing as many people in as possible. You don't even sit down for your wine tasting - you're stood up leaning at the bar - we had an Italian guy doing our tasting & he looked disinterested as he explained where the very average wines came from. Essentially, you are stood up because they want to move you on to make room for more paying pundits.

So, ÂŁ120 for 2 glasses of average wine in a fake castle with crowds of people streaming in & out - dreadful experience.

Beautiful place

Absolutely beautiful and the wine tour was great and very knowledgeable. The environment and the castle were gorgeous. Definitely coming back

Overpriced, single drop tastings ...

By Andy P |

Honestly, for the hype train that this place has been on, they should also provide great quality tasting for the price that they charge. Like how is $60+tax per person for a 1oz pour reasonable? This is a bad look for Napa and a bad look for California. All the wineries that I have been to, including Viansa and V Sattui, etc have had much better quality wines and MORE GENEROUS servings at a lower price point.

Honestly, the owners and management should be ashamed of themselves. You are providing an experience for tourist who are excited to explore Napa for the first time, good and hardworking American people. Not a lot of locals come here.

My advice - you should buy the wine that you're interested in trying, and skip the tasting. It's cost effective that way.

Also, they ask for tip after charging you an arm and a leg for their tasting. Like what???

A labor of love

By Noraatc |

This castle is Dario Sattui’s labor of love… He was building it for 30 years to honor his Italian heritage and the result is his Stella replica of the medieval Italian castello. The castle built exclusively from the materials imported from Italy and painted by the artists of Italian descent Fabio Sanzogni is one of them) is a true gem and the views from its walls are absolutely breathtaking. Kids are allowed and I am sure will love the animals.

We had done standing reserve tasting of 5 wines (La Castellana being the best) and I also added Belgian chocolates for $7. The wine guide was very friendly but extremely busy, so he did the best he could. The wines are good but honestly we have tasted better in Napa Valley.

Amazing! A must go in Napa

By misssval |

Amazing wine and the castle is breath taking! Family friendly which is rare in Napa. Kids had chocolate and enjoyed the mini farm and the castle. The Reds were all delicious, my fav was the IL Barone. Bought some to bring home and my friends also loved it.

Great wine tasting experienc!

By Sharon D |

The wine tasting tour is so much fun! The tour takes you to the cellar and the dungeon. The tour guide was very informative.

Unique Napa Experience (very un-Napa like yet great)

By Arash R |

Very unique experience in Napa. They also make great wine! Our server was very friendly and offered amazing service. The idea of being in an medieval setting in Northern California is a bit surreal, but once you're there you will appreciate it for being unique and memorable. We were quite impressed by their Reserve Chardonnay and their star, the Cab Sav. It's in a very beautiful setting and I have to say, it reminded me of Siena in Tuscany Italy a little, so yeah, it was great! Definitely worth a visit.

Nice experience but somehow frustrating

By Serge L |

We had the castle visit and tasting the top wines.
The visit was a very nice and impresive experience. Our guide was knowledgeable and helpful.
But the tasting was frustrating due to the ridiculously small serving of the wines.

A must when visiting.

This 2-hour guided tour is a must. We were lucky to have Mark as our guide. So very knowledgeable. Although not a real castle, Dario Sattui, grandson of V. Sattui ( winery, another must) had this castle built 15 years ago. Real pieces from Europe, and inspiration from his travels, were put into the making of this castle. Most pieces are replicated but still gives you that castle feel. We tasted many wines. Pinot Noir, for reds, and Spumante del Castillo for the whites.

The best of Napa!

The best of Napa experience! It’s worth every minute from the time you park to exiting the premises. The castle is a rare architectural feature. They know how to treat guests! From the janitor to the servers, exceptional service. The wine is the best tasting and not too expensive. See for yourself and you’ll not be disappointed! Thanks to Cynthia our host, she’s amazingly talented!
