Beautiful building, welcoming mass and good service message on gratitude. The building is full of history and the design of the building is top notch.

Jaw dropping experience. Gorgeous cathedral with a calming stillness.
I would recommend walking to the cathedral, driving not recommended.

One of our trolley stops. As beautiful inside as it is outside. We loved listening to the history. He was sometimes hard to hear but I imagine a microphone is out of the question to not further distract church patrons.

Beautifully preserved and in use while we had a quiet docent tour, brief but informative. Catholic or not will appreciate this gorgeous cathedral, its meaningful stained glass and spectacular pipe organ. Gorgeous!

Stunningly beautiful. A must see during your trip to Savannah. And a nice place to rest your legs in the air conditioning while you take in the beauty.

This was a shorter stop for us but worth it. The docent was able to tell us the history of the basilica and offer background on the carvings and stained glass windows. It is an active church, so do be aware of when mass times are but they are very welcoming and it is definitely worth a visit.

One of the places you have to stop at in Savannah. What a beautiful church. You can take pictures and take some souvenirs home.

Not much different here as compared to other cathedrals. Nice stained glass, stations of the cross. I was disappointed there were notrelics.

We just went in quietly by ourselves to admire the architecture and art, enjoy the peacefulness, and light a candle for a friend.

We saw many sites while in Savannah, but this was definitely at the top of the list. Unbelievably beautiful! Located in the heart of the historic district.

An Easter visit renewal with choir and organ recitation of Tennebrae. The architecture, the decor, and the service gave a visceral appreciation of the darkness and anticipation of the imminent renewal of the light.

Beautiful church. Well worth going in to see the artistry. They had a British parishioner that gave a 10 minute history of the church, and the Catholic community in Savannah. Very informative. Willing to talk more after his presentation..

The art in this Cathedral Basilica is breathtaking! I recommend a tour so that you can learn the history of Saint John the Baptist Cathedral. We had not planned on a tour, but a kind parishioner noticed us wandering through and asked if we would like to know more. We had a seat and he gave us about a fascinating and informative history lesson!

The church is a wonder to see. Pictures do not do it justice as it’s one of those things you have to see in person. Even if you are not of this religious sect it is beautiful workmanship.

Catholic Church at its finest. As beautiful as many old churches I have seen in Europe. It is in a real great condition. Worth the time to stop by an maybe say a little prayer or light up a candle:)

So beautiful. So sacred. My soul was lifted to the Heavens. We were able to pray Holy Mass at noon on the Solemnity of St. Joseph. The organ and cantor were extraordinary! The Cathedral closes to tourist from 11:30 am-1:00 pm on weekdays for worship.

Gorgeous Cathedral! Loved showing my 4 kids this beautiful Church! The architecture & attention to detail was stunning!

This church is absolutely beautiful and worth visiting if in Savannah. It’s free to enter, but an offering of any amount is suggested if you enjoy your visit. We didn’t book a guided tour, but we did see a large group of people with a tour guide who was giving a detailed history of the church. Either way, you’ll surely have a relaxing and spiritual visit.

Every part of this church, you felt God's presence and the detail work in the glass and walls were awesome

Definitely worth a visit when in Savannah. Open for mass attendance, for tours, and for just wandering through it on your own. Check their website to make sure there are no special events that cause it to be closed to the public. I got off the Trolley Tour bus stop only to find that it was closed in preparation for an evening concert. I simply returned the next day.
It’s stunning and even though the public has access, everyone remains quiet when inside the basilica. I spent about 45 minutes slowly strolling through and taking photos. Many people sat in the pews for quiet reflection and some were kneeling in prayer. My only regret was not attending a mass here. Maybe on a future visit?

We spent a good deal of time here looking around and listening to the history of the building. Very ornate and detailed building.

Walking past and couldn't resist a quick walk through. What a gorgeous Cathedral. At some point in history it burned but has been restored beautifully.

This is a lovely building with gorgeous artwork and architect, but, of course, it’s primarily a church. In our first visit we happened to come during mass, and we were so impressed with the outside that we returned to take a free walk through later. It’s free to go inside, and you can take pictures; they suggest a $3 donation. While we were there the organist started playing, which added ambience.

Relationship of windows to the history of Irish people in Savannah was interesting but the most stunning part to us were the German carved Stations of the Cross.

Beautiful church, definitely a stop a long the way! Small donation is suggested, photos are allowed.

We went to Mass at the Cathedral. It was the perfect way to take in the beauty of the Cathedral, reflect on our blessings and pray.

Beautiful cathedral....a must to see in Savannah. A person might think they were in Europe. So very glad our tour stopped here, and we were able to go inside. Don't miss a chance to see.

We couldn't get in because the sign said they were having worship services. At 2 pm on a Friday. So anyway, it's beautiful on the outside. 🤷♀️

It was a nice break from the heat to visit the cathedral on a July afternoon. Although not too busy on a weekday, there was a steady flow of visitors. I felt comfortable walking around and taking photos in the church.

What a wonderful experience was provided us by the tour guide at this church! We listened to her and asked questions for nearly an hour. The church is just so beautiful!

There is a guided tour available on the cathedral website that should be seen by anybody planning to visit St John's Cathedral

Beautiful Church!!! It reminded me of the beauty of St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City! We didn't take a tour but just walked in and looked around. Don't miss this!

A beautiful church! Many stained glass windows and amazing architecture! Candles available to light and beautiful ornaments sold here as well!

This basilica is a feast for the eyes and soul. There’s so much to take in everywhere you look. We were fortunate enough to have a short narration from a gentleman that was full of knowledge about the history in Savannah. Stop in, you won’t be disappointed. My only request would be to have a cash app that allows for donations. It’s worth preserving, but lots of us don’t carry cash anymore.

Stunning!!! Just beautiful and gives you a glimpse in the history of the cathedral. To have it located in the heart of Savannah where they didn't want Catholicism is amazing.

This is a beautiful cathedral in the heart of the historic district. It is well worth the visit - especially for the cost of a donation.

Beautiful Place to Visit on a trip their! We added this into our tour based on the carriage drivers advice.

Amazing artwork and architecture throughout this cathedral. I was nearly moved to tears looking at the stations of the cross on Holy Week. We enjoyed the history shared by the guide.

Absolutely beautiful church. We were fortunate to arrive in time to listen to a very interesting talk on the history of this gorgeous building. This is a must see while touring Savannah.

This was on our list of places to visit while in Savannah. Without planning, we saw it as we were walking back to our car at night (one day before it was on our schedule). It looked really nicely lit, which validated the decision to visit the following day. We arrived around noon and we had to wait for the mass to end before we could get in. It was definitely worth the wait: the cathedral was a work of art. They have someone talking to the visitors about the history and the architecture of the cathedral. We learned that it was recently elevated to the status of minor basilica (and about the symbols that distinguish a cathedral from a basilica). Highly recommended.

This is a beautiful Cathedral. The stained glass is old world and stunning. It has the most interesting baptismal font I have ever seen.

Amazingly beautiful and inspirational! The paintings, the stained glass, the architecture--everything was wonderful to behold. It's also very generous for the church to be open to the public to freely visit (donations accepted).

Regardless of your religion, this building is worth seeing. From spectacular stained glass to a nativity display beyond compare to the pipes of a massive pipe organ, this church is stunning.

Stunning church. Nice to quietly walk around and take in the beautiful murals and stained glass windows. We didn’t do a tour but if we have the chance to go back I would recommend a tour

A must see but check the hours as they are very limited. So so so beautiful and the story behind this church is worth hearing or reading about.

Restoring the outside, so couldn't see it in all it's glory due to the scaffolding, but the inside was dramatic and wonderful and peaceful. Donations recommended. Mostly we just lit candles for our relatives; didn't wander to see everything, but the stained glass was very impressive so I recommend it if you have the extra time.

I went for Sunday mass. 10 AM. It was beautiful and uplifting. On top of that, the Cathedral is spectacular. Just a beatific church and experience.

Even if you dont attend a service, stop by and take in the beautiful architecture! The stained glass is so colorful and vibrant!

Absolutely beautiful..add it to your list, make sure you know when there are services before you go..

Well worth the time to visit. The cathedral is impressive. The cathedral is open to visitors and you are welcome to sit and enjoy the peace.

The Cathedral of St. John, located in the historic city of Savannah, serves as a stunning backdrop. The streets of Savannah are lined with buildings and sites of cultural and historical significance, and the cathedral stands out in all its regal splendor. When we visited on a Saturday afternoon, a steady stream of visitors flowed through its doors. Upon entering, the grandeur of the interior took our breath away—the cathedral’s ceilings soar over 60 feet high and are exquisitely contoured. The true highlight, however, lies in the beautifully vibrant stained glass windows that adorn all sides of the church. These intricate works of art pay tribute to significant moments from the life of Jesus and leave a lasting impression. The church’s interior is simply magnificent, and we spent several minutes absorbing the view and admiring the nativity scene. Guided tours are available when worship services are not in session, but even a self-guided tour allows you to appreciate this architectural masterpiece.

Beautiful architecture! Located in the heart of the city. With horse carriage rides going by and a wonderful coffee shop across the way.

We went to a mass service and stayed after the service to look at the cathedral and admire its beauty. We very much enjoyed the service and our time in the cathedral. This is a must see for the history of the building, but it’s also a spiritual event.

This is a beautiful place. The details in the architecture are outstanding. It was a busy day and a wedding was booked but we came back at a later time to see. So worth it.

Simply beautiful. So very peaceful to just sit here. Very quiet. Everyone was very respectful. The windows were stunning. Very nice spot just to reflect

Beautiful Catholic Church. I can't say enough about this place. It is a must see. Check the visiting hours before you go because it is an active church that closes to tourist during Mass times.

It is a beautiful church. The stain glass windows were breathtaking. The pipe organ pipes were cool.

This is so so gorgeous. And a nice place to rest from the heat. I had a great time exploring this cathedral and I love all the stained glass.

The church will definitely give you chills. The beauty is magnificent. Reminds me of the many churches I visited in Europe. This church is a must see.

Very nice cathedral. Very ornate. Nice docents who would share information with visitors. Check the times because sometimes have services in the day when tourists aren’t allowed in.

This one is not to be missed.
Magnificent American neogothic basilica amazes with its architecture, art, colors, stained glass windows and atmosphere.

Don't miss this stunningly beautiful church. Wonderful guides give a nice program explaining the history and meanings of the extensive amount of artwork, statuary, paintings and more.

The Cathedral of St John the Baptist was absolutely stunning. We bought tickets for the hop off hop on trolley and this was one of the stops (although I already knew I wanted to see it). I’m not sure if they have guided tours but you can certainly walk around on your own. It’s was gorgeous.

The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist on Abercorn Street between Harris and Liberty Streets is open to visitors Monday through Saturday from 9-11:30am and 1-5pm; also on Sundays from 1-5pm: The interior of this French Gothic cathedral is breathtaking but some of its secrets are best unlocked through free talks offered, almost on an individual basis, by very knowledgeable docents ($3 donation suggested). Docent John Pryer offers engaging and informative talks regularly; contact the cathedral for his schedule.

Beautiful church with amazing architecture. This is a must see while in Savannah. Take a few minutes to meditate while absorbing all the intricate details of the craftsmanship that went into designing and building this treasure.

I decided this second Sunday of lent to attend mass at the Cathedral while in Savannah. I’m so glad I did! The 10:00 mass was packed. When the organ began, chills went through me. Then the choir started singing, and the music was awesome. Combined with the beauty of the art filled cathedral, it was truly a moving experience for me. My simple, modest, and modern sanctuary at home pales in comparison. Every Catholic should be so lucky to attend a service in a place like this once in their life.

Worthwhile to go into church - a very nice example of a local cathedral. Open for public, but be aware the church is a working church.

My daughter and I attended 10 am Sunday Mass. it was a beautiful service. We are from a small town inKentucky and a cathedral this size had us in Aww! I would recommend anyone to attend Mass regardless of your religious affiliation! So much history and beauty in in place!

We just happened to be walking past the Cathedral, and decided to take a look, and offer a prayer. The exterior of the Cathedral is imposing, but the interior is magnificent. Tours are available, but the pamplet provides all the basic information.

Don't miss the opportunity to see this beautiful church. We went for high mass at 10 am on Sunday and the organ and choir were outstanding.

Beautiful modern ish cathedral. Lovely stained glass, catching the sun beautifully today. Really impressive nativity scene - the best I've ever seen. However, all slightly ruined by the miserable woman stationed at the entrance shouting at people. Completely unnecessary.

This Cathedral Basilica is so beautiful. I is one of only 19 Cathedral Basilicas in the United States. It has beautiful stained glass windows with some dating back 1800's and also wood carved stations of the cross as well as many painted scenes. Absolutely Beautiful.

The cathedral of StJohn the baptise in Savannah is under some reconstruction so it’s hard to see the beauty under all the scaffold. Nice though!

This church is one of the most beautiful ones I have seen in the US. The architecture, artwork, stained glass, and sculptures are amazing.
We stopped in for mass during our recent visit. It was a great chance to view the church, as we were there for about an hour. I was amazed at the intricate Stations of the Cross statues, as well as the other paintings and murals there.
Catholic or not, this church is a must see in Savannah. It is amazing.

There is so much artistry packed into a relatively small cathedral. The crowd was reasonable. A portion of the front area was under renovation but it didn't detract from the experience.

It is a beautiful church with a lot of history. Tours are given at certain times of the day only- so make sure you check it out an plan your visit.

Whether you are Catholic or not, this is truly a sight to see. The church holds such great history and is one of the more ornate cathedrals of the south. Walking in we were amazed at the vast painting on the ceiling and the elaborate stations of the cross positioned on the wall. Made our way to the front pews and stopped briefly for prayer and lit a candle in front of the reliquary. Then we tagged along as the polite cathedral staff were answering any questions visitors had and pointing out key features. Sadly our schedule didn’t allow us to attend a mass while in town, but luckily they do have fairly long visiting hours in between masses.

This cathedral is beautiful to stop in and check out any time of the year but it is amazing to see at Christmas.

Breathtaking. Beautiful. Grand. Heavenly. Unforgettable. A must experience if visiting Savannah. Light a candle for an ill or deceased loved one. Pray while inside because you’ll feel closer to God. Please leave a small donation because every dollar adds up to help physically maintain this magnificent basilica for future visitors and parishioners. You’ll want to share your dozens of gorgeous photos with friends and family on Facebook.

This is far and away the prettiest Church/Cathedral I've ever been to. The photos do NOT do it justice and the wave of emotion I felt as I turned the corner and walked in was unmatched. It towers over the city and is very easy to spot and access. They also had a local guide come in and speak on some of its history and design choices by the holy water in the front.

Beautiful! The Christmas nativity scene was incredible. Massive church organ must sound gorgeous, but we did not get to hear it during our off hours visit.

No matter who your feelings are towards religion visiting this church should be on your list of stops to make while in Savannah. The inside is beautiful and peaceful, The architecture is amazing and the stained glass windows are fabulous!

We were fortunate to be able to tour the church on our second time checking. What a gorgeous interior, very moving....

If you enjoy the beauty and tranquility of a spectacular religious setting, this is your place. Stain glass windows are gorgeous. The dome is magnificent, and the peaceful feeling is addicting. Just go in and reflect, whatever your religion. Well worth a visit

The stained glass is stunning and I felt inspired to be closer with God.
Absolutely worth seeing, and a small donation of $3 is no problem to support the church.

Absolutely beautiful! Definitely made me feel like I was in a very special place. Bring a camera and prepare to be amazed.

Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful cathedral. I recommend if you appreciate gorgeous architecture.

We arrived with mass having started and had to come back. It does not open to the public until after 12pm.

Remarkable historic churches are scattered throughout Charleston, and each has a story to tell. Among the city's most interesting is the brownstone Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, a neo-Gothic structure built to replace the previous cathedral, which was lost in the devastating 1861 fire that destroyed much of the city. It has some notable stained glass windows as well.
The Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist is a magnificent beacon of faith and heritage in the heart of Charleston, South Carolina. It stands as the mother church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston, which encompasses the entire state.
This awe-inspiring structure with its Neo-Gothic design serves not only as a place of worship but also a symbol of the deep-rooted religious convictions that contributed to the city's rich history.
Visitors to the cathedral are often struck by the awe-inspiring architectural features and the peaceful reverence the space invokes. Taking a stroll through the nave, you're met with towering columns and pointed arches that lead your gaze heavenward. The stained glass windows recount biblical stories in vibrant hues, and the precise details are enough to captivate anyone's attention for hours.

Literally so beautiful! We went during a hot July day and the inside and outside are absolutely exquisite! Inside at the front there is a space where you can light a candle and they do allow photos on the inside!

This is the one church we had time for and so glad we did. Went early and glad we did as you can see it is popular.
They have members there helping with questions and they were playing the pipe organ, wow just wonderful.
Don't miss looking into the Vestibule I almost missed it but it has the Irish symbol, they told us about them helping in a time of need.

Beautiful Cathedral. Must see!
I would also recommending walking by at night if you can, it's beautiful with the lights on.
The location was easy to find.
check the viewing hours are on the website The first time we went by a service was starting so we had to come back.

Amazing inside and out, the sister Cathedral of Notre Dame! The self-guided tour is free and if you're lucky they will be having a performance on the amazing pipe organ! Felt like my whole body was vibrating under the light coming through the majestic stained glass.

This Basilica is stunning - full of artistic gems....stained glass, wooden carvings, paintings, all beautifully restored. The volunteers were friendly and answered questions enthusiastically. The atmosphere was reverent. After looking around, we just sat quietly in this sacred space.

A beautiful beautiful cathedral. Absolutely worth visiting. It was very peaceful, which was so nice after all, of the other touristy attractions! I am Catholic, so I may be a bit biased - but - I’d highly recommend to see the lovely architecture & relax and appreciate the silence.

It's a beautiful church even with construction going on in the area of the spires. I just loved the stained glass, murals, pipe organ, and altar. I wasn't able to attend mass this trip, but hope to on our next visit. Very inspiring!

Absolutely beautiful! I am so glad we went in! It is amazing to see and is stunning! Pictures do not do this place justice!

Beautiful. Don’t miss. What a sight. Peaceful and quiet. Add to your sightseeing around Savannah. Bring cash as there is a suggested cash donation of $3.00 each person and $1 to light a candle.

Beyond Breathtaking! So beautiful. A gentleman will tell you the history & describe many of the artifacts& stained glass.

This is absolutely beautiful and one of the must see spots of Savanna. Make sure to check when the mass times are so you can go in.

We went to mass here and the inside of this church was stunning! The stained glass and paintings were truly breathtaking.

We have been several times when visiting Savannah and the beaty and artwork never ceases to amaze me. What Beauty!

One of the most beautiful Roman Catholic Basilicas in the USA. Built in French Gothic style, incredibly stunning. Tile from Italy, stained glass from Austria, white Carrar marble. A must-see, all are welcome for a modest $3 donation, not mandatory.

My first visit to Savannah and we did a downtown trolley tour. This was one of the stops we made- beautiful! Humbling to see and leaves you speechless. We made sure to visit the area in the afternoon because they have mass daily in the morning and do not allow visitors until afterwards. This was amazing to see and I highly recommend it.

This is a must-see in Savannah! The most beautiful church I have ever been to. Words can’t describe the feeling of being here. Magnificent & Breathtaking❤️ Please don’t miss this!

The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist makes for an imposing sight as you walk the streets of the Savannah Historic District, with its unique French Gothic style including several soaring spires and bright whitewashed stucco coating over the structural brickwork (particularly striking when lit up at night). The interior spaces are even more beautiful and provide a spiritual sanctuary for quiet contemplation (as you wish) and for admiring the various decorative & architectural features. This place of worship is one of the most attractive cathedrals my wife & I have seen in our travels around the U.S., and the parish staff can offer you details & insights into its history including occasional free sit-down tours describing the key features of the building. A visit should be part of everyone's Historic Savannah walking tour.

Our 15-year-old with developmental disabilities struggles with sensory issues, and benefits greatly from wearing a hat with ear protection. I take care to explain it’s a disability aid, and have found most people to be warm and understanding. However we were turned away by the guard at St John’s, who said that no exceptions could be made to the no hat rule for men, even as disability aids. I fully respect St John’s right to set a dress code to make sure visitors are approaching the cathedral respectfully. However it’s unfortunate that they put more importance on a dress code than on including disabled visitors like my son. I would have loved to share this beautiful monument of our faith with him.

This is a gorgeous place! The best part is the unique blue color features throughout the building. Be sure to look for Robert the tortoise in the square beside the building. He is fun!

Beautiful art and architecture. Very much worth the time. The church docent and volunteers were knowledgeable and very friendly.

A must see while in the Savannah area. I recommend that you sit and slowly take it all in. Beautiful doesn't describe it!

This building could be in Europe. Beautiful interior with the story of the crucifixion in order on the walls. Amazing stained glass.

Beautiful Cathedral. So worth a visit. Inspired place to pray. If I lived in Savannah, I would be a member of this lovely house of God.

This is a beautiful church and well worth your visit while in Savannah. Take your time and attend a service or wander around to take in the sights.

Nice to stop and sit awhile in such a sacred spot.
Great stained glass from Austria. The stations of the cross were especially beautiful.

The stained glass windows are breathtaking with stunning architecture. Spiritual experience and well worth the visit.

St John the Baptist Church in Savannah. Beautiful to go and look around and be still with God and yourself.

A MUST SEE while in Savannah. It was AMAZING. You don’t want to miss this beautiful church. A beautiful site whether you are Catholic or not.

Amazing. A must stop when in Savannah! Allow yourself sometime to take in this amazing cathedral. Small donation is requested as you enter but well worth it. Knowledgeable parishioners provide history talk throughout the day.

Wonderful experience!!!!
Se were on the trolly so we could hop on and off, We got there when a tour was being given so we jumped right in on it.
No matter what you religion it is worth the stop

One of the most stunning churches inside and out. You can't help but feel blessed in this church. Light a candle and say a prayer for someone or for this entire country as the status we are in is sad

In such a turmoil time, this place offers so much peace and beauty inside. An absolute must-see when visiting Savannah.

Would not have expected this cathedral to be so ornate on the inside, but it's stunning inside and out. Definitely worth a look if you happen to be nearby. We did not get a chance to look into its history or any other facts, but we did appreciate a the work that clearly went into it. And I enjoyed being able to light a candle for a small cash donation. We were in and out in about 15 minutes, though certainly you could stay longer if you liked.

What an absolutely beautiful cathedral! This was on our tour and we went back and walked inside. Savannah is a beautiful place to visit !

We stopped by after hearing about it and it was one of the most beautiful churches i have seen. The stained glass windows, altar and the architecture was amazing.

Such a beautiful cathedral! You could spend hours looking at all the fine details. Highly recommend stopping in there to at least take a look. It is one of the stops on the Trolley so an easy spot to visit.

We have traveled a lot in Europe and this Basilica is right up there with any we have seen in Europe. Savannah is rightly proud of the beautiful architecture and the congregation that makes a difference in the city. It is the most beautiful we have seen in the US.

Mass was lovely. No docent tour, but being Catholic, ourselves, everything was familiar and spiritual.

Stopped in the Cathedral as we were walking about in Savannah.
Beautiful windows and interesting stories about the church when it had burned down and its' reconstruction

We attended noon Mass at this Cathedral. (During noon Mass it is closed to tourists who don't wish to attend Mass.) It is stunningly beautiful. The history of the cathedral is fascinating as are all the details about the beauty within. They ask for a $3 donation but we gave much more after spending some time there in order to help preserve this work of wonder. Catholic or not, it is well worth the visit. As a Catholic it was very meaningful to be here.

The cathedral is stunning and reverent! The intricate artwork around the cathedral is breathtaking. This is a must see when coming to Savannah. We parked and walked but it is a stop on the trolley tours if you don’t want to walk.

Pretty cool little church, very easy to find, outside area was under construction, but still open. Worth to stop by to take some pictures if you like to visit old churches.

This was one of our first stops when we got to Downtown Savannah. It is absolutely beautiful. No matter what religion you are affiliated with, you can't deny the beauty of this church. The stained glass windows, the woodwork, the artwork and much more. It is a great opportunity to sit in silence and just enjoy the beauty that surrounds you.

Church was Beautiful definitely a must see for anyone who loves architecture and churches also is only a quick walk from the downtown area for easy access

So enjoyed this visit! Beautiful church and everyone was so friendly! This place is definitely a must see. Be sure to get a small tour when you are there to learn about the history.

Beautiful Catholic cathedral. Definitely a must see in Savannah. Try to attend a mass, even if you aren't Catholic. The stained glass windows are stunning and the choir was outstanding.

This is a beautiful cathedral. I recommend attending a mass to truly appreciate all the beauty including the music.

Incredibile architecture that is a must see when in Savannah. On the trolley stop and easy to get to if walking.

When we arrived a choir was practicing for a concert. Although we couldn't do the tour we were allowed to sit and listen to the rehearsal and see the inside of this magnificant place. The man at the door was very friendly. A quiet and reflective place with amazing views.

Worth taking the tour, just a stunning church. the guide was just awesome and they allow photos! Beautiful

Stopped in the Catholic Cathedral for a break from the heat. I was pleasantly surprised. It was the most beautiful church I have ever seen - and I have seen a lot of churches / cathedrals in my life! Amazing architecture and art. As crowds come in they give a very helpful five minute overview of the history of the cathedral and its art. Definitely worth stopping in.

This church is beautiful. Stained glass from Austria. Very beautiful Stations of the Cross. The characters depicted have very interesting expressions.

So worth the stop. Looking at it from outside does not give you any clue as to show amazing the interior is. Must see this cathedral.

A 5 star blessed experience. How does one rate a church? Holy and welcoming. The stain glasses windows are magnificent. The stations of the Cross, beautiful.

We went by the church on the on off bus tour and went back to it. Highly recommend it. One of the ladies gave an oral history of the diocese and church that was very interesting.

One of the most ornate and beautiful Cathedrals that I have ever Visited. The Curator was very knowledgeable and explained the history of the Church as well as the meanings of the stained glass, the murals and the organ. Very informative! This is a must see while in Savannah.

We were thrilled that our stop here was shortly before the noon weekday mass, so we attended mass in the Cathedral. I also little candles for my 5 grandchildren, a personal tradition wherever I travel.

No matter if you are a Christian, Catholic or non-religious this magnificent structure is a MUST to see while you are in Savannah!

Very beautiful church. Great artwork and statues. Access is simple as long as no activity ongoing. Stayed for Mass and it was nice too.

The church can be compared to St. Patrick’s in Manhattan. Remarkable stained glass, a new baptismal, cordial staff, interesting history. Must be seen.

Absolutely stunning! Make this a stop on your trip, you won't regret it. Plan to spend around 30 minutes.

What a beautiful church! The stations of the cross are a highlight. Interesting fact though - with all of the money that the Catholic Church has you would think that they could hire a reputable company to dust off these gorgeous pieces of art every now and then. Don’t let that stop you though. It’s a great stop while in Savannah.

This was our first tour activity of our week-long stay in the historic district and it is a little bit of a walk from the busy Broughton shops. Nice way to visit more squares along the way. $3 suggested donation, which is standard for historic churches. There was a docent talking about the building - changes made over the years. The paintings are on wall-mounted canvas, so I wouldn’t call this the Sistine of the South. Beautiful stained glass windows. I would suggest walking the side aisles to get a closer look, since they are cleaned and well-maintained. Interesting architecture that was created without the Industrial Revolution month of some more impressive churches. Never saw a basilica before, though! Surprisingly there is not an attached book store. You can donate $1 for some postcards and walk to the Saints and Shamrocks store nearby. I realize this is a church, not a venue or attraction but I’ve been to churches with bookstores and thought it was a fantastic idea.

We attempted to visit the basilica 4 times over our 2 day visit. We planned our visit around the posted service times; however we were not able to enter.

Simply beautiful architecture inside and outside.
We almost missed this masterpiece, by rushing around in the city.

This was a very beautiful church. We were able to go in as a service was just ending. We were on the Old Town Trolley tour and this was one of the stops. It is just gorgeous inside. The beautiful windows and the depictions of Jesus in statue form on the sides of the walls. there is a beautiful organ. Absolutely stunning!!!!!

My wife and I toured as Christiand seeking information and education on cathedrals. We have always found their achitecture impressive. A very knowledceable parishoner gave us a short informative lecture to start us out.
Q&A was encouraged.

My husband and I attended a Sunday mass and it was so beautiful. The cathedral is breathtaking. The choir was amazing and drowned out my bad singing.

We took advantage of the Hop on Hop off trolley tour and visited the basilica. It is stunning. The stained glass rivals those I saw in Rome. We didn't stay for the presentation given by older ladies and a gentleman. We listened to his talk briefly, but it was a little long. We enjoyed walking around the cathedral. It is impressive.

The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist on E Harris Street is a magnificent cathedral. One may see the double spires from the historic district before arrival. Upon entering the main doors inside, one is left breathless. The architecture of the cathedral, stained glass windows, and large three-dimensional stations of the cross are exquisite. The cathedral is open for prayer and reflection at times during the day. One morning when we visited, we were fortunate to hear the organist playing. No matter what one's religious affiliation, the cathedral should not be missed.

My sister told me to visit this place, and I’ve heard it called the Sistine Chapel of Savannah. It was very beautiful with all the stained glass. We especially liked the organ in the balcony and the Prayer Intentions Project along the outer gate.

One of the highlights of our visit to Savannah the past couple of years! Absolutely gorgeous!! Have really enjoyed touring and listening to the docent's informative speech as we sat in the pews at the front of the cathedral.

Absolutely beautiful and so worth seeing! If you visit Savannah you should make a point to visit here.

Definitely worth the visit. Looks like something you would see in Europe on the inside. When we were there, there was someone who gave a short educational/historical talk about the cathedral.

St. John’s Cathedral church was absolutely beautiful ❤️ We donated a few $$, lit a candle, prayed and took some pictures. A must visit when in Savannah

Toured this magnificent Cathedral while touring Savannah. The stained glass windows are beautiful. The Church is serene and open to the public for contemplative prayer or to just admire the architecture and one's surroundings. Should not be missed if touring Savannah.

This is our 2nd visit to Savannah and the Cathedral. This is 1 of the most beautiful churches I've visited!! It is reviving just walking in you feel relaxed and well in your soul! The art work and Architect of it is just amazing.
Loved it! Visited off the Old Time Trolley.

A beautiful sanctuary to fill you eyes and spirit. Absolutely beautiful stained glass and carvings. A must see in Savannah.

The stained glass alone was worth the trip inside! They are absolutely majestic. The pipe organ is a sight to behold. I have been in many beautiful churches and this was something I will remember!

St John's was beautiful. It reminded me of St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans. It was nice that we could go inside the cathedral, as many of the large churches in Savannah were still closed due to covid in February 2022.

It was loads of fun lots of history and gold and glittering statues all over the place. I hope I visit Savannah again just to see it.

This Cathedral has the Old World charm and beauty, especially the colored glass windows. The majestic interior is just breathtaking!

The beauty of this church is on par with some that I have seen in Europe. The stained glass windows, statues, stations of the cross, votive candles, etc. - it’s all here to see and reflect on. Worth a stop if you are in the area.

This church was absolutely amazing inside. The architecture and design inside was stunning. A definite stop just to be amazed at the workmanship.

The beauty and history of this church was brought alive by a very articulate docent who was a retired professor of world religions. The tour presentation is offered for free (donations accepted) and the other volunteers in the place were over the top kind & cheerful.
There was rich history from nearly 200 years ago but we were also informed of more recent events that gave us a feel for modern events in Savannah. The church is well worth the 30 minutes it takes to be well informed on a variety of levels.

Amazing design and architecture that makes a key element of the Savanna skyline.A great addition to your photo bucket list of Savannah.

This is an incredibly gorgeous cathedral. During the Christmas season , it is adorned with probably over 500 poinsettia behind the altar and an enormous Nativity display encompassing the entire right side of the altar.
We attended Sunday Mass there and the choir and organ was angelic. What a glorious experience especially since we attend a small country parish with few resources. It was a blessing to be part of the worship of our Savior. During the week, the church is not open for touring from 1130am-1pm due to the noon Mass. Worth the visit

Worth seeing the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist, a minor basilica of Gothic Architecture. Gorgeous stained glass windows, beautiful great rose window (a gothic medallion—angels playing different instruments radiate from the center), fourteen stations of the cross, murals, Italian marble, and pipe organ. Highly recommend visiting here!

You must wait for Mass to end to go inside, but it is worth waiting to see. We were here a week after Easter, so the altar was still decorated with lilies. the stained glass windows are beautiful and the pipe organ is huge. All the stations of the cross are 3-D and almost life-sized.

What a beautiful Cathedral. This is a beautiful, well kept Church. Was great to stop in and pay respects. Take time to view all the windows and murals.

Vacationing with my husband and wanted to stop by and say a prayer for my sister that passed away. It’s such a beautiful church we are attending a mass this AM.

The architecture, the stained glass windows , the statuary, and the murals are exquisite. You know you have entered a holy place. You are standing and looking at the beauty just as people have for the last 120+ years!

People spoke of it as it is out of ordinary. It is not. Regular cathedral with stained glasses. Average.

Read about this on trip advisor. Was so glad we were able to go in and visit this beautiful Church. The stain glass windows and architecture is something you don’t see very often. So glad they have it open to the public.

Beautiful Church Amazing place, history galore. Beautiful architecture, and amazing artifacts in and around the church

The volunteer woman was welcoming and it was very helpful to hear her describe a brief history of the cathedral and importantly where the stained glass, stations of the cross, oil painting on canvas adhered to the walls were made , refurbished, etc.

Tried to visit just now - during posted open hours. Locked up. Very disappointing for us and the dozen other people behind us.

Our tour guide let us spend 15 minutes in this beautiful church. The stained glass and interior is simply beautiful! You can light a candle if you choose or just walk thru. They allow photography.

I loved my visit! It is a place that is so beautiful and breathtaking. I would highly recommend whether you are Catholic or not.

I was absolutely awestruck when I entered the church. It is, by far, the most gorgeous church I have ever seen. The details in the statues are stunning and the stained glass is breathtaking.

A beautiful and magnificent church! Worth the stop!! The pamphlet they provide gives a great overview of what to check out!

It is a beautiful church, perfectly maintained and clean. Majestic. Stained glass is beautiful. It has high ceilings.

A huge church in downtown Savannah. Beautiful inside with expansive ceilings and stained glass. Donations encouraged but not required to enter. Staff was friendly and helpful.

We were invited to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary along with all those 50th and 25th anniversary's from the Diosese of Savannah. This was my first visit and was awestruck by its beauty and spirituality.
Guided and unguided tours are available when Masses or worship is not being conducted.
The stained glass windows are awe inspiring and very meaningful to everyone especially the faithful.

Might be more important for religious people, but for me St.Baptist Cathedral was just another church with bright and eclectic interior. OK to spend 15 minutes or so.

We were lucky to arrive when a short tour was happening. A member of the church gave us a short talk on some history. It is a beautiful church inside and out.

We were sightseeing in Savannah for the day and stopped by this church. It was my mom's favorite thing she saw the whole day. It is very beautiful and I think anyone, regardless of faith, would enjoy walking around. We had the opportunity to light prayer candles for a small donation while we were there as well.

The Cathedral Of St. John The Baptist Basilica is one of the most beautiful churches you'll ever see.

Religion aside, this building is stunning! It’s a must see. You can’t help but feel peaceful when you enter this building.

Every inch of the interior of this temple is full of details and the mastercraft that it took to put this place together shows on every corner!! it is really a humbling experience and totally recommend visiting it!!

The architecture on both the inside and outside of the cathedral is beautiful. The stained glass windows are amazing. Definitely worth a visit to see the beauty.

Absolutely beautiful Basilica. We stopped in on a weekday and were able to walk around and see evening up close. Beautiful architecture. At one point there was a woman who have a brief history of the church, including dates, renovations, etc. we were allowed to take pictures We went back for Sunday Mass. the organ and choir were amazing. This was the high point of my Savannah visit.

This is a must see on a Savannah tour. It is one of the most beautiful churches in the world and can rival the ones in Europe.

The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist is a beautiful basilica in downtown Savannah. We were fortunate to arrive just before a nice lady went through the history of the Cathedral and answered some questions. Overall it was a very nice experience.

Husband loves seeing churches everywhere we go. Absolutely beautiful, if you like church’s it’s well worth checking it out.
Free to enter

Absolutely beautiful! You have to experience it in person. Looking at pictures does not do it justice.

This is a beautiful cathedral. The volunteers were super friendly and informative. They even offered to take photos of us. A lot of interesting history.

Beautiful sanctuary! If you are in Savannah, this is a must stop. We didn’t arrange for a formal tour. We walked in, sat in a pew, said a prayer and discreetly took photos. The colors are rich and lovely, both the paintings and the windows. Highly recommend.

Beautiful and awe inspiring. I am not sure what can be said that hasn't been said. It touches one's heart to visit. We also bought this year's commemorative Christmas ornament.

Such a lovely place to visit. Enjoy some quiet and take in the gorgeous architecture, stained glass, sculptures and history. Would love to be able to attend a service here -and we are not even catholic :)

We enjoyed a beautiful early morning Mass at the Cathedral on Sunday. The 8:00AM mass was well attended. The service was very good but without music except organ at beginning and end of service. The Monsignor had a good homily. Without music the service was over on 45 minutes. This is a beautiful church. They do have tours. We will definitely do a tour on another visit. While the church doesn’t have a parking lot, there is street parking. On Sunday street parking is free. We easily found parking early Sunday morning by the Cathedral.

This is one of the most beautiful churches I have visited-not overdone. It was during lent and there were a lot of people visiting. Well worth the time to stop & look

We visited on a Sunday afternoon. There was a box for donations with a request of $3/person. The architecture was stunning and it was decorated for Christmas. There was a lady who sat in front and told the history of the cathedral and answered questions. Photography was allowed.

A very beautiful Roman Catholic cathedral formed in the 18th century. It became a cathedral in 1850. It is a seat of diocese that includes 90s counties in Georgia.

Beautiful historical basilica with inspiring biblical stories displayed in stain glass and paintings. The spectacular Christmas crèche.was displayed in December.

A lovely, serene place with beautiful surroundings. A meditative place in a frantic world. Would go again.

This church is beautiful inside and out. One of the most realistic crucifix and staton of the cross carved out of wood.

The most beautiful church you will ever see in your life. It’s not really touristy. Unless you get a “guide” per say there’s not a lot of information in the church. But it’s definitely worth the few minutes you’ll spend in there admiring the architecture!

Beautiful Basilica. Got a short talk from a lady in the church on the history and it was fascinating! Even if you are not Catholic, you will enjoy the beauty of it. It rivals Italy’s churches.

Just an amazing cathedral! Every detail is incredible including all of the stained glass. Definitely need to see while you are in Savannah!

We visited this church as part of the historic churches tour. We were lucky to visit the cathedral shortly after a wedding ended.

A wonderful place to go and see. Truly worth the time. The lady at the door can tell you all the history and eve ts and yes Pirate's looting.

Absolutely beautiful place. Historical church that has wonderful features. Lots of unique features, architecturally spectacular.

With stained glass windows, paintings, starry ceilings and a magnificent pipe organ, this is a must see in Savannah

A beautiful church and welcoming parish. If you're looking for a church to attend mass, be sure to come here. Organ and choir music was angelic.

One of the prettiest churches I’ve ever seen - it’s absolutely breathtaking. Worth a few minutes of your time. I wish I had been there for a service.

This is one of the two most awesome cathedrals we have ever visited! If you are not humbled by the immense beauty and architecture then you are blind!
Every aspect of the place is overwhelming! It was one of the stops on the city tour, and a must see!

Amazing building that has some equally amazing features.
The stained glass is beautiful as well as the architecture inside.
Massive pipe organ above the entrance.

Worth a stop to go inside and see this beautiful structure. Stayed for the talk which was very informative.

What a beautiful church! A must see while you’re in Savannah 😃 we were especially impressed with the station’s of the cross and the very beautiful stained glass windows. The pipe organ was one of the largest I’ve seen 😃

This was on one of the stops for our trolley tour. We were able to go inside and see this gorgeous cathedral. Very inspiring. Well worth the visit!

Every trip I go on, I have to check out the cathedrals. I loved this one! We went during Palm Sunday weekend. It is so beautiful! If you have the time to stop in this one, you should.

Absolutely gorgeous place to stop, reflect and rest. The stained glass windows were amazing. The tour guide was knowledge. This is free but they do request a $3 donation.

This is an absolutely amazing church. The stained glass windows and huge organ are just so beautiful. This should definitely be on your list if in the area.

This Cathedral is absolutely beautiful and full of the Holy Spirit. Guides were there to answer questions about it and there are historical markers as well. Just a stunning and spiritual experience.

Awesome church, spend some alone time there, meditate on all the great art work.Mass is at noon. Hoping to go to confession but no priest there

I wanted to visit the inside of this magnificent Cathedral, and it was so beautiful. Where to look as everywhere you turned was beauty. I took my time walking around and taking a few pictures. People were respectful and quiet, lighting candles, sitting in pews, and just taking it all in. Such a wonderful place - do not miss it!

It is The Crown Jewel of Savannah Architecture. Spiritually moving inside and out.
The City Council of Savannah will soon ban evening walking tours from walking past it at night due to Residents complaints.
Hopefully the Church will speak to the Mayor.

Attended Mass service. Incredible experience in this beautiful church. So many wonderful architectural details and history to cherish along with the traditional service and talented choir.

Open for free touring except during Mass (tourists are stopped at 11:30 am until Mass is over). A gorgeous building. One of the most beautiful I have visited. Flannery O'Connor attended here seven days a week until she was 13 and her family moved. The cathedral, which she could see from the 2nd floor window of the O'Connor home, sets the formative years of her faith in context.

A must see. They want you to come in visit. Need to go back for a service. The history of the place will bring you to tears.

There is so much history in this Church. See if you can get a guided tour (through visitors bureau?) as well as paying for the little brochure. I would go back.

Gorgeous church! We spent 20-ish minutes in the sanctuary, marveling at the intricate architecture and artwork. A highlight from Savannah.

Beautiful church, a must see! Awesome stained glass and a very unique interior. Regardless of one's religious affiliation, the Cathedral is an important part of the incredible history of Savannah.

A beautiful Cathedral. If you appreciate architecture and art you will enjoy this even if you are not religious.

The Cathedral is beautiful and free for self guided tours when not being used for services. There is meter parking nearby for $1/hr.

Worth stopping by. A beautiful house of worship with significant history. No need to block a lot of time, but worth putting on your walking tour of Historic Savannah. Our route to the cathedral from our Bay St. hotel took us through a very old cemetery which added to historical theme of our journey. Not even necessary to put the Cathedral in your Google walking maps… just look for the steeple!

The architecture and images in this cathedral are some of the most stunning I’ve seen in my life. Photos do not do this place justice.

Meticulously maintained Cathedral including volunteers who are eager to share any and all information you would like to hear!

Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful architecture and statues and stained glass was inspiring and moving! If you love God and Jesus, you’ll love visiting this church!! A definite must-see!!

Just go- this cathedral is stunning and should be a must on your visit. Just note the time as there are services at certain times of the day.

A rainy afternoon proved the perfect time to visit this beautiful space. Because afternoons is when there may be a docent to provide history and context to the visual feast of this church. And we were so fortunate to have that experience. We may think we have to go to Europe to tour a beautiful cathedral, but this is one on the American side of the Atlantic.

My hubby and I were on a civil war tour that purposely ended at the front of this church because so many people want to spend time here when they are in town. This is a must see for anyone spending time in Savannah, it’s open for people to walk through until 5pm each day and is absolutely breathtaking! We were very blessed to visit around Christmas so saw the gorgeous decorations throughout.

Very beautiful inside. Worth a Quick Look at the beautiful stained glass and carvings. Church had scaffolding up outside so I’m sure it’s even more beautiful when not under construction.
I’m glad we ventured inside, said a prayer and marbled at the beauty

This cathedral is absolutely breathtaking. It’s definitely worth the time to stop and walk around. The stained glass was amazing. Great visit.

We stopped into this beautiful church. A parishioner gave a 15 minute informal talk . Very interesting and well delivered.

Don’t miss visiting this beautiful church. Very ornate with beautiful stained glass windows. You just have to check the service times.

This cathedral would be considered beautiful by almost all visitors, but as Catholics, attending Sunday Mass here was even more special. The architecture and interior decoration is stunning. Having attended Mass in many cities around the world, I felt the music from the choir and organist was equal to any I’ve heard. The Catholic Church is alive and well in Savannah.

The Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist is absolutely breathtaking and peaceful! One of the most beautiful Churches I've ever seen. Went for Mass and the community is lovely too.

I visited here in spril 22 on our 2 day stay in savannah. I had an annoying morning, sat down by myself and just worshipped God and left restored and at peace. Oldest church in Georgia
I think. Very blue and ornate

Simply breathtaking. So much pride goes into the upkeep of the church itself considering its age and location and you can see it and feel it in every detail. During Christmas the spectacular Nativity set up is worth the visit alone. A beautiful spiritual trip for our entire family.

This church is beautiful but you just look around on your own, not tour or anything, There was an information desk, but the attendant was not too friendly, or helpful.

Beautiful cathedral. Weekdays they have Mass at 11;30 or noon. If you just want to go inside to see the beauty or say a prayer, the cathedral is open to the public from 12:30-4:00.

Free access and easy to walk to from Forsythe Park. They do have a donation box if your inclined to contribute

This church is very beautfiul. Came here twice. First day it was closed but second day it was open for touring. You don't have to pay but there is a suggestion for donation. Very beautiful place with great stain glass windows and murals.

Breathtaking frescoes and paintings with a loving history. It was wonderful to celebrate Mass in this setting. We were given a warm welcome. Thank you!

The priest was excellent. Would listen to his message any day and I am not Catholic. He spoke to you in real life terms. The church was beautiful as well.

Breathtaking for the history and meaning behind this church. As a catholic it means allot to have witnessed this site. The gentlemen at the front was very helpful and told us of a local shop to check out. Thank you for sharing!!!

Just a wonderful time at a very ornate cathedral. We visited as part of the hop-on, hop-off tour and spent about an hour there. They ask for a small donation to visit, but it is well worth it. On our visit, we had to delay for a while because daily mass began at noon.

when we walked in, the beauty took our breath away- definitely a must see while you are in Savannah !!

Was very excited to see this church/Basilica but I was not overly impressed in comparisons to others I have seen. The stained glass windows were pretty but did not “wow” me, however the organ did. The architecture is impressive. It was a very peaceful and calming place to visit.

It is a beautiful cathedral and the docents/ushers were very welcoming. Wonderful chor and organ music to accompany the mass. Great sermon by the cardinal

Be sure to note the times there are services so you don't try to stop in during those times as the tours are off then. If you aren't allowed to enter there will be red signs, a police officer and one of the members of the congregation to let you know that it isn't the proper time to enter. For example, weekdays from 12:00-12:30 there is a service.
You can walk in and peruse the church at other times or there was also a gentleman giving tours if we were interested. This cathedral is similar to those you would see in Europe. Very reminiscent of those I've seen years ago there.

Stunningly beautiful church. We sat in the park across the street and watched the people coming and going from the church. We went in for the mass and were amazed at the beautiful interior.

Just spectacular. As a Catholic, I love visiting older cathedrals like this. So much history. The details are just incredible. They just don't make them as nice as this. Worth the visit and ask for a small guide.

Definitely go for a service. It is the most uplifting spiritual service even if you are not a Catholic. The reverence and beauty of the cathedral is beyond any other.

Don’t miss this church! It is simply breathtaking. After taking time for a prayer I walked around and admired all the things this beautiful church had. I only wished I could have been there during a service to hear the organ.

This is definitely a must see. It is a magnificent church. The architecture is worth seeing l! I would highly recommend stopping at this architectural beauty.

This place is worth a visit. It is absolutely beautiful. They ask for a $3 donation which is totally worth it.

Church was very beautiful and we got there a docent was talking about the church and history. He was great docent and you can tell very passionate about the church and history. The stained glass and the amazing stations of the cross carvings are worth a visit. There is no fee but a suggestion for donation. well worth a visit.

This is a beautiful church with so much history. The stained glass windows were phenomenal as were the murals. Sunday mass was beautiful and the choir sang beautifully. I attended mass with my spouse and my 6 month old son, maybe I missed it but there was not a baby changing station in the restroom so we had to change him next to the sink. We were able to enter the church from the street level elevator which was nice.

Beautiful church in the middle of the historic district. Be sure to look up the times you can get it. Limited times and you want to make sure you go inside

A stunning old Catholic church in beautiful condition. The color of the ceilings is as bright and fresh as the first day, the stained glass windows sparkle with vibrant colors. The pews are also comfortable, great while listening to our guide tell us about the church.

Attended Mass on Thanksgiving Day while visiting Savannah; Bishop said Mass, and was a good speaker and very congenial (also fluent in Spanish for the many Central Americans who were in the congregation).
A beautiful church! Magnificent windows and paintings, beautiful reredos and other fixtures. Fantastic organ and music (include a male tenor cantor, whose voice was angelic!)
Take the time to look around!

Wow!!!! Breathtakingly beautiful and such an amazing history of this church. Very informative tour guide and it was all free! Such an amazing place to visit!

Beautiful!!! My husband and I got up early one morning to “beat the heat” and walked some of the squares in Savannah. We stumbled across this beautiful Cathedral. Grand!!!

The Cathedral is absolutely stunning. The outside was being renovated during our visit so we weren't able to see that. The inside is incredible.

This Cathedral left us speechless as we entered. It is absolutely beautiful. The lady gave us a brief explanation of the church’s history. The Nativity was spectacular. We simply LOVED IT!! This is by far a must see in Savannah, Georgia. You will not regret it.

Beautiful church and well worth the visit. Very interesting history. I appreciated that someone spoke to a bunch of hillbillies to take their baseball caps off. This is a church, not a bar!

The Cathedral is breathtakingly beautiful. My husband wanted to visit. It’s normally not high on my list to visit this type if venue. I am so glad I went.

Very beautiful, don’t miss this inspirational cathedral! It was still decorated from Christmas, which was gorgeous.

My husband and I, and our 3 boys (14, 11, and 7), had a few minutes to spare before a tour of a nearby house so we decided to take a quick look. I knew I would love seeing it, but figured my kids would be bored. All 5 of us loved it! It was absolutely breathtaking! The pictures you see don’t do it justice. It’s amazing. We just went in for a quick look, so I can’t give any feedback on the tour, but it’s definitely worth checking out!

This is gorgeous church, both inside and out. You are allowed to go inside and you can also attend a mass there.

This cathedral is quite large. And it seems to be modeled after the huge old churches in Europe. It’s not as cool as those but it’s great for this side of the Atlantic. Totally worth seeing.

This was the prettiest church I have ever seen in person! Very cool that they let people see the inside! One of my favorite stops!

Be sure to see this beautiful basilica! Come when there is no service going on. And be sure to walk at least half way down the aisle and turn around to see the beautiful stained glass above the exit.

A lovely church, just hope you don't run into a funeral or the church is, appropriately, closed to tourists

This cathedral is so very beautiful and impressive. We were amazed at the windows and carved stations of the cross.

Great church in Savannah. The stained glass windows are just awesome. Tours stop right in front. Easy to get into.

Stunning. This was our sixth visit to this church. We attended the 10am mass on Sunday morning. The beauty of the murals, windows, and stations coupled with the mass and amazing music were awe-inspiring. This is a must-see while in Savannah.
A must visit when in Savannah.
One of the most beautiful buildings or churches I have ever been in. Pictures can not give you any idea of the beauty in this building. The stained glass, murals, woodwork and statues. It does not matter if you are Catholic or not. Everyone who is in Savannah should visit this church, you will not be disappointed. There is no charge but donations are suggested and remember when you donate how much it must cost to keep a place up of this magnitude compared to the local tours and museums. Please remember this is a church so you should dress and act accordingly.
