This is an amazing historic cave. Jack Daniels started his distillery on this spot by this underground spring 150 years ago. The water is used to make the amazing Tennessee sipping whiskey which is shipped all over the world. You can see this when you take the free tour.

This was really neat knowing all the water for all the Jack Daniels comes from this one creek. It's amazing how much water they get, plus I like the fact that they continue to use what Mr. Daniel's himself used originally.

Very cool spot with history to the Jack Daniel's Whiskey. Stays same temp year round and has fed the Distillery for 150 years.

What a nice place to hang out.....lots of nice stories were told about the cave. I really liked the one about the bottle of JD to every employee on the first of every month.
They say the spring has never gone dry......hope it never does..

Amazing story line here! Can’t believe how much the temperature has dropped in that area. Which I could just sit there and drink my whiskey on the rock 😅

The Cave Spring Hollow is part of the Jack Daniels Distillery tour, but it is very interesting. It IS the sole source of all the water for Jack Daniels! The water and air coming out of the spring is 59 degrees all the time, and your tour guide will teach you a lot of information about Jack.

This cave spring has supplied the water for Jack Daniel's whiskey for 150 years. The statue is a little larger than life. This is a major part of the tour of the distillary.

Visited the cave on the Jack Daniels Distillery Tour. Just loved that it all started with this spring and is still used today. Loved the statue at the front of the cave.

Not a lot to say - cute little town square with stores arranged on the outside edge of the square. A couple sculptures and benches.

This was a fun tour, there were about 30 people on the tour. Our tour guide was the best...his name was Jason!

You must take the tour of Jack Daniels to go here but it is amazing to see the water that they still use at the Distillery

Saw the spring while visiting the distillery. Good point for taking photos is the statue of Jack Daniel at the entrance to the spring.

What a fitting surrounding for the history of the area and specifically, Jack Daniels. The grounds are meticulously manicured with activities for the entire family.

This is absolutely beautiful and the spot where Jack first started making whiskey. Today the same water from that same area is used to make Jack Daniel's today.

I read a review before visiting, and it seemed like you could go walking through the cave... well... that is not the case. It is part of the Jack Daniels tour and the only thing you get to see if what you can see from the main road. There's no walking through the cave at all... you just look at the edge. It's still pretty, but it is not a destination.

The distillery tour was a wonderful experience. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and engaging, and the cave was a welcome respite from the summer heat. Sitting on a rock at the mouth of that cave was just like sitting in air conditioning. We had such a good time, highly recommended. Ask your tour guide why the trees are black!

Very interesting part of the tour was the spring. Great photos w friends at this spot. Moved along quickly, but we held back and did are own thing.

Great place to stand during your tour especially when it's hot. Temperature of the cave is 56 degrees year around. Loved the history of the cave too.

that every drop of Jack Daniels whiskey comes from the water at this cave. As everyone else has stated, this is only accessible through the tour and you really cant miss this part of the tour. The tour guide spends about 10 minutes here telling you the story, letting you take pictures with Jack, and lets you get a view of the cave.

Went here on the Jack Daniels tour, and I found it interesting that this is still the spring where they get the water to make Whisky.

Located at the Jack Daniel's Distillery. This was my favorite part of the tour. So beautiful!! I could have stayed in this spot for hours.

Visiting the cave was part of our tasting tour. The natural beauty of this cave and the water flowing around the property was on of the best parts of the tour. When standing next to the cave opening you could certainly feel the temperature difference of probably 20 degrees. For sure something to see!

This is part of the Jack Daniels tour. The cave is literally cool spot. Jack Daniels distillery uses the water from the cave in several parts of their whisky making process. Definitely, a must see.

This is part of the distillery tour, but it's a stop that is very interesting. You can't go into the cave, but can feel the cool air from it, and see the clear water from the opening. It's also interesting to know that the spring water is always used to make Jack Daniels.

Right on Jack Daniels Distillery. This cave is really cool....I mean cool like 56 degrees. See the water Jack is made of and get your photo with Jack.

Went on the Angles tour, great selection of Jack, how ever you want it, they have it. New green apple, double filtered, double barreled. Very educated tours, ours was with Kim. Being an Esquire we went to see our plot at the distillery, and recived a free gift from the Esquire house. The Cave is the original and current water that is used to make Jack. Comes out at 52 degrees as it's filtered through the lime stone of the cave.

Kim, our tour guide gave us an incredible tour. She was very professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. We will be back!@

Take the tour. It's free and the tour guides do a great job presenting information about the spring. If you don't want to take the tour you can walk to the spring from the parking lot.

This was one of the stops on the walking tour through the Jack Daniels distillery. As I was already familiar with his whisky is made, this particular stop was the most interesting to me. The tour and visit to the distillery is highly recommended.

If you have never been to Lynchburg and taken the tour of the distillery, put it on your list!!!
If you have been, you know you want to go again!!
I am looking forward to my next visit.

The cave incases a natural flowing spring. It was beautiful, and it's part in the distillery is very neat!

This was a part of the Jack Daniel's tour. It was cold so we got to stay on the shuttle but the story behind Jack Daniel and the cave itself was remarkable.

Interesting history a lot of folks don't know. All of the Jack Daniel's liquor in the world started out at this Spring. It is the source of the all the Jack Daniel's liquor ever make. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable of the history of Jack Daniel's. Many of the employees are 2nd, 3rd or 4th generation of their family that have worked at Jack Daniel's Distillery.

The cave spring area, is visited during the tour and is just a great spot to cool off. It's amazing to think that all Jack Daniels whisky starts there....

The temperature was about 68°, on a 100° day it felt amazing. It is on the Jack Daniel's distillery property in Lynchburg.

The water coming out of this cave stays nice and cold! We were there on a hot sunny day, once you get down to the cave you can feel the cold air blowing thru it! Don't forget your free shot of jack on the rocks!

Great local history and wonderful day trip very informative about the founder and startup of jack Daniel . Very beautiful area and teaches you more than ever thought

Very interesting, nostalgic and educational tour of the Jack Daniels Brewery. Lunch in the square after the tour was great with BBQ grilled cheese!

The history is just amazing here. Came here with my sister, and we just loved the history. Such a great natural source for whiskey!

Did the whiskey tour at jack daniels distillery and it was amazing...I highly recommend taking the tour

Tons of interesting history and fun tour of the process of making Jack Daniels whiskey. Our tour guide, Jason, was a lot of fun and very knowledgeable

The cave is pretty cool to see -its part of the tour, but if you are just stopping by - its worth a quick look.

We only stopped a moment during the Jack Daniels tour, I would like to have learned a lot more about the water... but that’s probably just me. Anyway it’s not anything to go out of your way to see. If you don’t do the tour and maybe just walk around the grounds, all you really see is the mouth of the cave and a rock over hang. They really should have a large sign with information on this area, it’s underwhelming but I have a feeling if I knew the actual story I would be mesmerized.

We seen the spring as pry of our distillery tour. It was freezing cold but a lovely little spring that flows into the Jack whiskey who needs to say anymore. 👍🏼

This tour was very interesting and very good. We had Bob as our tour guide and he was very knowledgeable. Well worthy the money

The Jack Daniels Distillery is a very special place, but when you enter the cave where the water for this amazing amber nectar has always come from, then you truly know and feel you have visited the true home of the Famous Jack Daniels! we were there during the Summer and to go beyond the statue into the mouth of the cave is a unique experience, feeling the coolness of the 56 degrees temperature that is reputed to stay constant all the time! Do not miss the Cave Spring Hollow if you visit the Jack Daniels Distillery!

This was a beautiful stop on the tour! Also felt nice and cool on a hot day. Our tour guide did a great job explaining the importance.

Stopped because we’ve seen it so often but never did the tour before. OUR MISTAKE! The tour is wonderful. I have always enjoyed Jack Daniels but now have a new respect for not only the process but more importantly, the history. Out tour guide Ashley Was outstanding. She is a 3 generation employee and some families that work at the distillery are 4 generations. It was truly enjoyable. My wide does not drink and thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Don’t miss it!!!!

Imagine all the Jack Daniel's whiskey ever made came from this spring and continues to this day. It was also very enjoyable to stand in front of the 56 degree cave when it is over 100 degrees elsewhere.

This is a stop on a tour. I don't believe you can see this on your own. This statue of Mr. Daniels is positioned in front of a cave opening. The history is interesting. Definitely a worthwhile tour.

Cave Spring Hollow can only be accessed by taking the Jack Daniel Distillery tour. As part of the tour, it is an interesting place to visit. While Jack only wore a size 4 shoe, the statue has a size 12 shoe, just an interesting fact as to how the sculptor had to overcome Jacks small feet. The original statue that stood here is inside the visitors center. Excellent photo op. Take the tour, it's worth it.

We stayed in Lynchburg and took the basic tour followed by lunch at Mary Bobo’s. The area is nice TN country side. The people were wonderful and informative. Very enjoyable afternoon even if TN whiskey is not your drink of choice.

Gorgeous place. Simply beautiful and awe inspiring. We loved the temperature that stays pretty much the same all year long. It was very cool on this hot October afternoon.

The Spring Hollow is part of the Jack Daniels Tour, it provides additional background on the water type Jack considered a requirement for his Whiskey. The statue is a great photo op for the Tour members and the Tour Guide was happy to take a picture of our family with Jack. A fun part of the Tour.

My whole family enjoyed it! Lots of history in the making of this whiskey.

This stop is part of the Jack Daniels distillery tour. Pretty cool to see where it all began. We were told this is the coolest place in town during summer and a must stop.

This was one of the highlights of the Jack Daniels distillery tour. What a beautiful place and a great story! This cave is a great visit and I love the way it fits into the Jack Daniels story. If you are looking for history - don't miss this part of the story! It was also refreshing on a hot day as the area stays 56* all the time! It's amazing.

This is part of the Jack Daniels tour. As other reviewers have said, there is a constant breeze that is 56° blowing from the cave. The history of the spring is very interesting. Also, it's a beautiful spot.

A neat part of the history or the Jack Daniels Distillery and the current source of the water that makes Jack Daniels.

Im pretty sure this was just part of the jack tour. Its amazing none the less. It was about 97 degrees out and we walked by here and it got 30 degrees cooler.
The water is so cool and clear

This place is part of the guided tour of the JD Distillery. You get to see Jack Daniels on the rocks - what more can I say.

This was part of the Jack Daniels tour that my dad enjoyed so much he wanted my mom and I return with him. This cave was nice one of the places I enjoyed.

This was a fun part of the distillery tour. You get to see the entrance to the cave where the water comes out that they use for the whiskey. We also learned that the water has a very low or zero Iron content that is a big part of the success of the whiskeys flavor.

This Cave Spring Hollow was included in the JD tour and should not be listed as a separate activity.

This is a natural beauty! It was the one place I wanted to go. It didn't let me down. It was a very hot day and walking to the spring was like walking into outdoor air conditioning!

Part of the Distillery tour and interesting. Definitely a good photo op for your travels and good local history.

The Cave Spring was one of the best parts of the distillery tour! It was extremely hot the day we did the tour and as we approached the cave spring the temperature dropped significantly. The cool air from the car felt great and it was such a peaceful and relaxing place. I could have stayed by the cave relaxing for hours!

This is amazing that they still use the same water from this to make Jack. The history here is amazing. So glad we made the decision to detour here.It was well worth the stop.If you like history..there is history here

Ron was awesome. He was both knowledgeable and entertaining. The whiskey sampling’s were too small (just kidding). We didn’t feel safe as far as Covid goes. This is a problem throughout Tennessee.

Loved the cave...its so refreshing and cool as you walk towards it. Feels so wonderfully fresh! Very calming

This is the place where JD set up shop in order to access the pure spring water. It all started here!!
You can stand next to the brass statue of "Jack Daniel on the Rocks". Pretty cool.

Pretty area, tour guide Jed was great, funny and explained a lot! We did the Angel's Share tour. Worth every penny ($30) pp. 5 tastings, and I wasn't a whiskey person, now I have a new appreciation for it. My hubby likes it more! Spent time outside and inside.
This was March when they were closing things down, as our tour was to be Mon 16th, but they called us Saturday, asked if we wanted to come on 15th, cause they were closing due to Covid on the 16th. Great Customer Service!
Big gift shop and they know what their doing! Well done! Thank you!

A lot of history can be learned in this little cave. I greatly enjoyed this area of the Jack Daniels Tour. The rock formation will catch architecture lovers attention. Its an incredible temperature difference in this little area than surrounding areas. So peaceful too.

We took in this attraction while on the Jack Daniels Distillery Tour. It was rather muggy and warm out at the time of the tour and this little alcove area was very cool in comparison to the muggy weather elsewhere. Neat history behind it too.

This was one of the stops on our distillery tour. So cool how they still use the fresh water from this spring to make JD whiskey today. A cool breeze comes out of the cave and it's the cleanest, most refreshing air you'll ever breathe.

Interesting grotto where Jack Daniels gets its water. The statue of Jack was cool. Interesting part of the Jack Daniels tour.

This is such a great site and FREE! Interesting to learn the history of the use of the cave/water and see it stream through the property.

This was a great part of the overall tour, not sure you can see this without paying for the overall experience. Having said that, it's cool to see the source of the water, and get a sense of the history of the place.
The "coolest" part of the tour
The spring where the water used in production of Jack Daniels comes from. 56 degrees year round. It was 90 humid degrees when we took the tour and this spot was the "coolest" part of the tour.
