Cold but beautiful

By Debbi V |

We came in late May and it was a rainy, cold day but the have bathrooms, a little snack bar and a very nice beach. Lots of seagulls and beautiful views of the mountains and the Lake.

Warmer water - good cooling off stop

By WillGlobetrotForFood |

We were visiting Glacier National Park for 3 days. Our nieces (10 to 14 years old) wanted to get in the water, but the rivers & lakes were cold in the park. On our 2nd day, we stopped by the city beach for an hour after visiting the ski resort for alpine slides. It was fairly crowded for a Tuesday afternoon. The official beach portion was roped off. I didn't see much "distance" to be had, so we stayed on the right side of the beach, which was much rockier but away from the crowd. We had water shoes & flip flops on (a must have in my opinion, but I'm terrible with walking on rocks). Water was cold but not intolerable. We didn't swim much, simply played around. I recommend this beach for anyone who wants a little water break from hiking.

Beautiful area for all ages

By Debbie Stobaugh |

My Granddaughter whom Is 16 years old took me to this area because she likes to go here. It’s very peaceful and beautiful.

Great Beach

By J Michael M |

This is right in town with easy access.....nice clean large beach on a lovely lake. Parking is somewhat limited.

Way too crowded

By MDM |

There is very little parking, it's really crowded and not very clean. The people that seem to hang there seem rude and act like their sh-t doesn't stink. A very arrogant bunch to say the least. So is all of Whitefish though. Not a crowd you want to hang with if you want to have a nice family fun time. I bet I have more money than they do but I don't act that way??????

Beautiful Locale

By lantana |

Beautiful setting on Whitefish Lake.Nice place to relax, read a book, take in the lovely scenery, etc. Very fun spot on the Fourth of July for the city fireworks show. Penguin Plunge during the Whitefish Winter Carnival is also a fun event here.

Always worth the trip

By Chandra S |

Very clean beach with decent public bathrooms and an outdoor changing stall. We’ve been to City Beach before in the month of June, this time was a very different experience in late July! There were tons of people there, but we were able to find a spot to set up on the beach and there was plenty of room in the lake. We rented a tandem kayak ($57 for 2 hours) and a couple beach chairs ($15 each), which made the experience so much better. There’s a snack shop too, though we didn’t try it. Definitely a must do if you’re in the area! Downtown Whitefish is so fun to walk around, too.

Great place to watch the sun set.

By Dave H |

Got there late in the day. Beautiful place to relax and watch the sun set. The views were great and every place I went was clean. Parking seemed pretty limited but it was a school night and late in the day so it wasn't an issue for me. Not very crowded on a gorgeous Thursday night during the week in September 2022.

great beach

By TRACY W |

great beach to take littles. rentals were inexpensive, water was great! (would of liked a little more sand :) Easy to find . Parking was packed so get there early!

Winter peace and quiet

By PuraVidaWx |

It was a cold winters day, and I was the only person there, it was very peaceful. The bottom picture with the cloudiness was around 1030 am on Christmas Eve, the the sunny top picture was about 130 pm.

I didn't have snow boots with me, but it was still a calm view standing outside of my car and looking at the beauty around. It's worth taking a few minutes to travel through and enjoy the view.

Beautiful area

By tLynn18 |

We parked and road our bikes along the bike path. Unfortunately we had our dog and dogs are not allowed at the beach. We had brought a picnic lunch and ended up eating along the bike path, which was still really neat. It runs along a river to the beach one direction and into town the other. The town ride was nice too and they have an evening farmers market (can't remember which day) that was very nice.

Great Fun!

By Periwinkle1 |

This is a lovely small beach. There is a rental company that rents kayaks, paddleboards, etc for reasonable rates, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The beach is clean, there are picnic tables, it's just a delightful place to be!!

stunning background

By Adrienne F |

We had a wonderful visit to the beach in August. The water was refreshing, cool, and clean. We enjoyed the concession stand and felt like the beach was not overcrowded. Parking can be a bit of an issue as the lot is pretty small. We ended up just parking on a side street. Also, the showers were out of order, so that was disappointing. Other than that, it was beautiful!

Take in the view, winter or summer

By Mary N |

We have visited Whitefish over the past two winters, and always stop by the City Beach as well as the State Park on the lake. Walk through the snow a bit and take in this incredible view. The lovely quiet of the winter day. Enjoy

Great spot to relax and play

By TTA |

We spent the day here after several days of hiking and traveling through the national parks. We had 3 kids (ages 9-10) who needed a day of play. We played in the (cold) water, sand, and rented kayaks and a paddleboard. This is a perfect spot to just hang out and unwind.

Nice Little Spot!

By Halesky |

Stopped here on a chilly September morning to take a look around. There is a small beach area overlooking the lake, a couple of picnic areas, a concession area, and a few parking spaces. There is an overflow parking area before you get to the park. Go early if you plan to go.

Great place for a family swim

By Jacob |

If you’re looking for a great place to take a young family for a swim, this is it. There is a roped off area in the water that is quite large. The beach is a coarse sand. It doesn’t offer shade, so bring something for shade, or just go down the beach a ways to set up under the trees. The water was a perfect temperature, refreshing, but not too cold. The slope of the beach is gradual, and there is plenty of shallow water before it gets deep. There are rocks around on the bottom, so water shoes would be advised. But I personally didn’t have any and still had a great time. There is an island dock in the roped off area that you can swim out to. There is also a concession building and a place to rent SUPs and kayaks. We rented some SUPs for $12.50/hour. Parking can be a bit of a hassle. But if your willing to walk a little bit, it’s not too bad. Expect it to be crowded on warm days. Beautiful setting - loved going here on our Montana vacation.

Great place to hangout

By SierraKim |

Love this place. I like to Kayak the Whitefish river to City Beach and then have a hot dog at Burly's Concessions Stand. Or it's fun to sun on the beach and swim out to the dock. Just a fun place to be!

Lots of fun

By kjohnson |

Beautiful little spot in town for the kids to swim, rent kayaks or SUPs and just enjoy the beautiful weather. A gem

Enjoyed the beach!

By Hendrix5 |

It was a nice surprise to get to go to the beach! Nice, small beach but a lot to offer. They rent chairs, rafts etc. The snack shack had a lot to offer. We didn't get in the water because it was cold but a lot of others, especially kids didn't mind it. We would do it again if we ever stay in this area again.

Great place to finish your thesis

By Michael K |

What more can I say, a long time ago I was stuck for correlation of non-renewable resources and Hotelling theory as applied to start-up oil company strategy and it all came together at City Beach. Quiet and inspiring. That was in the summer - this is winter...nice view. Bring your skates after/if it ices up.

A day of slow.

By MontanaTrace |

There is so much to do in NW Montana. This is a great place to do nothing. Nice beach. Great views. Bring a camera. After enough time on the sand or taking a swim, go into town and check out the unique shoppes.

Definitely Worth Visiting!

By Jesse H |

White sand beach in Montana! This is a great place to start when paddling around Whitefish Lake. A little crowded on hot summer days.

Beautiful view

By dtmarshall |

Stopped in at the city beach for a quick view. Wished I would've brought a book and took the time to stay a couple hours. Due to the time of year the bathrooms and concession were closed. They provided a porta potty in the parking lot (wouldn't use if I had too).
The lake has breath taking views and is indescribably beautiful. Would love to visit during the summer months. Would be a great place to bring children/family and picnic. Limited parking would be a concern.
Actually saw deer across the street in someone's yard, grazing and eating. Would love to spend the day here.

Nice but crowded

By Jimc82 |

I guess that you should expect any beach to be crowded in warm weather but after trying three times we gave up due to the crowds.

One day at the beach was magic!

By CaribbeanDreamz |

Ice cream, rental chairs, pretty views and friendly people. Its got it all!! Thank you, Whitefish!!!!!!!

Swimming spot

By Laura B |

Family friendly beach very safe and clean area to swim and relax great views and good parking around the area

Beautiful

By Tayyy H |

Very pretty and peaceful visit in May. It appears that during the summer months there are concessions and various rentals for the lake. It looks like a neat place to bring your family.

Nice place for a stroll in the evening

By James W |

We stopped by here in the evening, after dinner, to stroll along the shore. You can't go too far, but it's nice to look across the water, and take in the sights. Unfortunately you can't easily walk over here from the city center, and the parking is somewhat limited. Still, it's a nice spot.

"Beautiful views and cold water"

By Robert Y |

The entire area of Whitefish is very crowded and there is something always going on. The Beach is a great place to stop and cool down but get there early as parking is very limited as is beach space. The view of the mountains is well worth it and there is a little elevated boardwalk where you can buy lunch and snacks.

Nice Walk and Lake Views!!

By Kevin V |

During a recent stay in Whitefish, we took a nice walk to City Beach and continued on the River Walk to the downtown area. This is a very nice stroll with some great views of the lake. The well marked walkway into the downtown area is a nice addition, either before or after a meal in one of the great downtown eateries.

Picture perfect

By TravelAgent Cale |

Peaceful and the most incredible view. So far the best place on this trip to watch the sunset [which wasn't until around 9pm]

Looks like a real beach!!!!

By Dewellner |

Despite it is far from the oceans, this lake offers activities as if it were really a beach. The place is calm and beautiful.

popular beach for locals and visitors

By koabug |

a little strip of public accessible beach for everyone to enjoy. Parking lot was a bit small so people must park along the side streets. I am not sure if this is the only public accessible beach along the lake but we couldn't find any other ones.

Friends and Family of the Moki Dugway

By Synthia V |

We walked from The Pine Lodge thru Whitefish to the City Beach. A fun after breakfast or evening walk. The beach is a family friendly fun place with a little snack shack. They have paddle board rentals. A beautiful beach setting with mountains in the background.

Only real beach for young kids

By mtsuvegas04 |

The beach was very nice and pretty clean. The water was cold even on a 90 degree day. The boys, ages 6 and 3, loved playing in the sand, which is hard to find around Montana's water. The staff at the rental store was really nice and helpful. The biggest downfall was no parking, so with to elderly grandparents and two little kids it was a chore to get down to the beach.

Handy location, great views, and free

By Ben B |

Most of the land on Whitefish Lake is in private ownership, so it's wonderful to have a public beach so close to town. There isn't copious amounts of parking, and there are residents living very close, and so it might be tight in the warm days of summer. But we were there in autumn, and had the beach to ourselves. The beach is very nice, and there is a good pier and boat launch. For families looking for something low cost to do, this is excellent! The State Park charges for parking, so free parking here is treat!

Nice beach, water & view

By Jen |

Lovely lake- small beach but not crowded when we were there and it was really hot. Water is beautiful and there are things to rent if you’re interested. Bathrooms available too. Watercraft is kept to their own area so they don’t interact with swimmers. A great place to relax, swim, wade, kayak, etc for all ages.

Great way to spend the day.

By David H |

City Beach is a family friendly way to spend a nice day at the beach. People are friendly and courteous. The water is clean and the spectacular views are over the top. Bring lots of lotion and lather up for fun in the sun.

It's a sandy beach

By Joe W |

Went and checked it out. It may be a better place during the summer. It was not crowded, but didn't see much space if it were to get crowded. While I didn't look hard, I also didn't see bathrooms, nor anyplace to grab a snack.

Beautiful, fun, and free

By Chandra |

We spent two afternoons of our vacation at this beach. It’s clean and pleasant, and the view is gorgeous! The kids loved searching through all the colored pebbles, and enjoyed the ducks that came up on the beach looking for food. The water feels ice cold at first, but you get used to it quickly (even in June!). We rented kayaks one of the days, and while the prices were a little steep ($60 an hour for two tandem kayaks), we had a blast and the staff was very nice. You can leave valuables in the office if needed. Don’t miss this beach if you’re in the area!

City Beach

By Hoss98057 |

This place is WAY better in the non tourist months.

Crowd of folks and I sure do hope that tourists get away from city beach to experience Montana's true beauty.

Parking is an issue at times of the day. Beautiful scenery but crowded...

Beautiful Beach

By bmcalder |

Spent a few days on this beach, one day just laying around after a bike ride and the second day was out on the lake, paddle boarding and playing around. Beautiful place with plenty of coves to go to

4th of July!!!!!

By Greg M |

We went to the beach on the 4th and it was AMAZING!!!!!! It wasn’t the swimming or taking in the sun, but the annual fireworks! If you can plan it so you can experience it, do it! It was so much fun and beautiful to watch on the beach. They obviously like fireworks in general because before and after the show, there were fireworks going off everywhere!!! Fun times!!’

Beautiful view

By abcnation |

Didn’t spend the day, but the view at sunset was spectacular. Beach looks clean and inviting and would have loved to spend more time hanging out in warmer weather.

Whitefish Lake City Beach With a Scenic View

By Jeanne B |

I grew up learning to swim at the City Beach many years ago. They have beautified the beach & picnic areas and made this a favorite place to hang out with the family or by yourself. The view of Big Mountain Ski runs and the mountains looking into Canada. Gorgeous!!

A nice beach and water but careful if you go out to the rope

By Brent M |

Our family went to the City Beach in Whitefish on a recent trip. The beach is really nice but I must say the parking, or lack of it, sucks. There is a small parking area right on the beach but not much street parking nearby. Mind you, it was over 90 degrees on the day we went which would have played into that effect. I ended up dropping the family off and parking about 3 blocks away. The beach is really nice and has a snack shop and washrooms but, strangely, no change rooms. I changed in the bathrooms but it's best if you come ready for the water. Once into the lake the water is a decent temperature, the water is cloudy from the silt runoff but is warmer than you would expect from a mountain lake. As you get near the boundary rope the bottom turns from coarse sand into large rocks, slippery and hard to navigate. And if you decide you are going to go beyond the rope to the floating island you're not allowed to bring flotation devices, the lifeguard on the paddleboard will stop you in your tracks and make you swim or walk out.

Canadians visiting

By Carlos Pasqua |

The city of Whitefish is the coolest place on earth.. Well done and very inviting... Love the coffee shops, ice cream shops, pizza and beer taverns... and to top it of is the free parking... Great job...

But ... I'm a Canadian and the border crossing has turned into a stressful experience. Eureka border crossing has a couple of idiots that have no street smarts about a Canadian going down for a Pizza and beer. Just my wife and I going for a drive in an Audi tt converitible. We are in our 60's and into our retirement era. The idiot at the border gate didn't believe that we would drive down 2 hours to go for supper and a beer... It was stressful for us and we have decided not to come down through that border ever again... Its' too bad as I really do love the city and living in Cranbrook makes the trip very inviting for weekly visits... but we can't go through that again...

A small, but lovely, beach!

By CM_G279 |

discovered this little gem while exploring Whitefish.. the beach is quite nice, although I will say that parking is quite limited, I cannot see that being a good thing in the heat of the summer.

VEry nice surprise

By travelintrader |

The beach is a great place to put in a kayak, canoe, stand up board and swim. the water is calm. We saw a handicapped man in his wheel chair on a custom board paddling with his dog. there is a clean restroom/changing area, rentals and snacks for purchase.

Get the Floaters!

By Paula - The Canadian Explorer |

This is an amazing little spot, right in town! There is no shade, so best to bring a parasol. You can actually walk here from Whitefish (through the Riverside Park Trail).

Nice beach and mountain views

By Blueridge Charlie |

Found the beach on a walk along the river trail. Scenic mountain views and a pleasant beach. Not expected at all.
Made several more hikes along the trail to enjoy the beach before a return walk.

Nice local beach

By CATTSAR |

The beach is fairly small but serves as a great recreation area for locals. On this particular day there were a handful of people, two actually waded into the water. What the beach lacks in size it makes up for in scenery. An important local get away.

Great beach

By Mountain Guy |

Really love city beach. Great place for families with kids. Also nice spot for a picnic. Little tables along the shoreline

Yes, Whitefish has a Beach with sand & everything!

By Sharon P |

Our grandkids had a great time at City Beach. Now it is the place they want to go every time they come to Gramma's in the summer.

Nice beach

By Robin L |

Nice beach, we went early in the day and lots of room. Rented paddleboards at the beach shop. They also rent kayaks. Also a snack stand and toilets available. Was getting quite crowded by the time we left. Lake is quite rocky when you first go into the water. Limited parking.

Beautiful

By Dara-Khmer |

It seems Whitefish has it all. Stunning mountains, lakes, rivers and its own little
Beach!
This is close to the Centre of town and a great place for families or to have lunch.
Really lovely spot

Great for the 4th of july

By Ted |

Always love coming here for the 4th. Set up in the morning and enjoy the lake, views and all the people.

Also a great spot to see bald eagle in the winter

Must See Beach!

By Niki A |

Super fun beach!! Even tho it’s rocky I didn’t mind. I set up camp and floated around the shallow area. I loved every minute. Free entry and free parking!

Nice for a walk...

By LightingBolts |

Tucked back in a neighborhood north of the railroad tracks. The day we went there were few people around. Just a pretty little place on the lake. Great for a short walk. Pleasant when we were there but could get over crowded pretty fast so timing could be a factor on a hot day. Worth a look and a stop on the right day.

Amazing

By witraveler225 |

Stopped here several times. Decent parking on weekdays, not so easy on weekends. This location has great mountains views and a nice parth along the lake. There is a concession stand and restrooms.

Beautiful beach

By ladyrx84 |

We needed a shady spot to stop and eat our lunch after hiking. This is a pretty spot to swim or float. There were several pavilions and we picked one to eat our sack lunch. There are concessions so I was able to by a drink. We loved the view while we sat and ate. Many people were lounging in the sun and enjoying the water.

dont go now

By robjustrob |

we rarely get to this beach because we often visit in the winter, but when we have been here in the past it has been nice. the water is a bit cold, but thats what you expect in the mountains.

Montana version of a beach

By Isherbear |

City beats is a nice place to visit with kids. They also have rentals on the beach a bathroom and a place to purchase food. The dock is open to all for five dollars in launch. Can get real busy in this area. Parking is difficult. It's nice to put your towel down on the grass area and still have access to the beach. Most tourist go to the beach. Most locals go to state park. Have fun

Fun Day with Little Kids

By Lauren S |

Parking was easy for us, bathrooms were great, nice little changing station with a foot wash area. Snack bar and place to rent kayaks/tubes/paddle boards. Beach area is nice. The bottom of the water is quite rocky for about the first 30 feet, so if your feet are sensitive, wear water shoes of some kind. The water was clear, but not nearly Lake McDonald clear. If you make a day of it, Wich Haus is a great little restaurant nearby for lunch or dinner. (SUPER kid-friendly!)

kids love it

By Virgil_Boulder |

not like ft lauderdale but this is the best around i suppose. you can rent stuff, there is food and drink, and the kids love chasing the seagulls and ducks around on the sand. worth the free visit for sure.

Nice Sandy Beach

By phat_dawg_21 |

The beach was nearly empty on a cloudy, dreary Saturday afternoon in September. It was clear that there is a nice sandy beach and parking.

The concession stand was closed.

A wonderful mountain beach

By Mick |

This beach is located on the southern end of Whitefish Lake just a couple minutes from downtown Whitefish, Montana.
It features a sandy beach, gazebos, lifeguards during the busy season, a boat launch, roped off water play areas, grassy areas, a small convenience shack during the busy times and bathrooms.
This is a family friendly beach and the roped off section in the water gives you safety and peace of mind from boats and pwc's. The use of the beach and grassy areas are free but sometimes the gazebos require reservations ahead of time and the boat launch is $10 for the day or $50 for the season.
My only gripe is that the sand is little rough as I believe it's finely ground up rock from the area but hey, we're pretty far from the ocean and I'm not complaining.

Beautiful beach

By James A |

Well maintained, close to town. Too cold for swimming in May, but great pictures . I can imagine in summer this place is bussing with activities.

Nice Beach

By shanec |

Nice beach on the edge of Whitefish. The beach is small but the views around the lake are outstanding. We would like to visit the charming town of Whitefish in the summer and go swimming and /or Kayaking on the lake and enjoy the surroundings.

Great Family Fun

By Donna |

The City Beach was an unexpected pleasant surprise. The view is absolutely gorgeous. The rocks are so colorful under the water. The kids loved playing in the water.

Great spot for relaxation!

By Santo R |

Lots to do there from swimming, kayaking and water sports. There is also a concession stand and plenty of space to picnic or lay out in the sun. However; there is a very small parking area so you may find that a challenge.

Beautiful

By Crissiew |

Relaxing beautiful view. Clear water. Great place to bring your family. They have rentals for paddle boards. They have a place to grill.

Good for reading and resting

By Charles F |

Also good for people watching. Rest rooms and concession building handy. Quiet, nicely landscaped, nice view and a swimming area is roped off. There are paddle boads for rent. Bring your own chair or blanket as there is a shortage of fixed seating. As noted elsewhere, no dogs allowed.

Not dog friendly

By ScottandJanelle |

We headed straight to City Beach to enjoy our first visit to Whitefish Lake and were turned away by the "No Dogs" signs at every path and road entrance. The beach looks sandy and nice, the view is great, and the water is smooth, but there is no option to enjoy the water if you have a dog. We sat on the road and observed what we were missing and it looks great for families. We observed many other spots in Whitefish that prohibited dogs and felt unwelcome just because of our four-legged family member. So many other tourist locations around the country have dog options separate from the main attraction. It's too bad Whitefish is alienating us and others.

In the middle of town a lovely beach.

By osimajorusaf |

In the middle of town is this lovely beach with free parking and a great view of the mountains. It is clean and appears to be safe for the family. We enjoyed a couple of hours just talking with locals.

Frozen in Winter

By dmittleman |

Down an icy, sometimes treacherous road, the city beach is lovely in both winter and summer. The views in winter are quite good and you can walk out on the frozen lake. Just don't expect to go swimming!

Nice Beach

By Kenneth W |

Great little beach in Whitefish. Stunning views and a great place to spend the afternoon with the family.

Park off & walk in!

By TXMARTINS |

Parking does not abound right near the beach, but there are lots of options to park in the residential streets easily. Absolutely beautiful blue water with great Mountain view’s this is a great beach for a dropby or to stay for several hours & enjoy!

Fun, family-friendly beach

By Joop5454 |

I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this beach. The people are very nice and the availability of rentals for kayaking, paddle boarding, etc. is right next to the beach which makes it easy to enjoy the lake.

Who Knew?

By Ashford817 |

We had been staying in Whitefish for a week and kept seeing the sign "City Beach" so we finally followed the sign. It's a lovely lake beach with boat ramps, lifeguard stations, roped off swimming areas, a concession stand and a very pretty shady park. Way too cold right now (46 degree) but we were told by locals the place will be swarming with tourists in another month. We almost had the place to ourselves!

Nice

By Cropduster2153 |

Go here for the view if nothing else. The crowds were thin the day I was there, (end of August), so it was very quiet and peaceful.

Enjoying the lake and the beach

By Robby G C |

When we came to the Whitefish City Beach Park at Whitefish, the sun was not out.

Still we had fun.

There is a path with trees. I liked that.

They had yellow flowers.

The lake was beautiful. Perfect for swimming or taking a boat.

The beach is dark brown. Lots of people like to come here.

A must see!

Changing Views

By nowpacking |

We drove by a few times because the views are constantly changing and the colors were beautiful.
Walk along the shore and enjoy.
Small parking lot.

Sandy beach in a ski town

By srswenson |

We stumbled upon this beach and we're so glad we did. Soft sandy beach with a designated swimming area. Multiple rentals, picnic tables and a few gazebos. Limited parking but worth the effort!

A little shallow and muddy, but good place for kids to cool off

By RangerBobN |

We wanted to picnic by the lake and this was very easy access. There are benches and tables on the lawn above the beach, and that area is shaded, so it was easy to be comfortable here. The bottom here was mostly clay/mud, so it was easy to wade in barefoot without working about rocks. No diving or real swimming as it's pretty shallow for a long way out.

Not really for Swimming

By VacaCouple2014 |

Very rocky beach that you have a hard time walking over. This is a short drive from downtown but you need to be able to climb down a steep set of stairs to get to the beach - many people would not be able to do this comfortably or safely.

Pretty and cold this time of year.

By Acrenename |

Looks like it would be a lot of fun in the summer- snack shack, rentals and nice beach. Cold and quiet this time of year.

This Small, Family Friendly Gem is Beautiful During All Seasons and Great For July 4th.

By MaryEllenM27 |

The views from City Beach are beautiful. It is in a very safe area with marked off places for the kids to swim. You can picnic, kayak, and generally enjoy an old fashioned, laid back family day. It is the primo place to watch the annual Fireworks Display on the lake...people come from all over to enjoy it. We have met people from many other states while there.

Great beach but cold water

By Powderhound17 |

A big clean lake with a great beach area. The pebbles are rough on the feet and the water pretty cold but a lovely setting.

Pretty

By MidwesternParent |

Nice beach area. Good view. Can rent kayaks, tubes, etc. Lots of people swimming. Saw lots of families with kids.

Busy

By c j |

Nice spot. Can be busy. Good for firework viewing on the 4th of July. Good for kids. Some grassy and shaded areas as well.

Average Beach

By MK |

Nothing special here, but this beach and parking lot offer access to the whitefish lake. There is a small park with shade nearby.

Beautiful Local Beach

By Vanessa P |

We spent the day lazing around, paddling, having ice cream and reading. The beach is one of the most cool local attractions. It is clean, family friendly, with paces to bbqs and shading trees. It is possible to rent canoe and paddles to play in the water. We love it and we plan to go back next summer. We stopped by during the winter and the lake is stunning beautiful in the winter as well.

Quiet and clean

By LadyTraveler13 |

It was super smoky so we knew we were missing some amazing views, but the rocks are so colorful! The ducks come right up to you, and the water is warm.

Beautiful Spot for a Short Visit

By flyfisher170 |

This is a small beach with a small parking lot, but the view of the lake and mountains is as beautiful as anywhere. You drive through a beautiful neighborhood that has deer strolling around near dawn and dusk. I'm not sure if the neighbors appreciate them as much as visitors, being a potential threat to their gardens!

Great aset for the comunity .

By dsdmontana |

Fun for family , kids and anyone that likes a beach and water . Great for young toddlers to play and make sand houses.nice picnic spot for grouips on the north side.

If you have time, this is a pretty little city beach on a nice lake right in town.

By Don H |

We just sent to see the beach and as a bonus got to watch people on the jet boards. The beach, lawn bathrooms were all spotless and a real nice vibe. If I needed a place to lounge, I'd go.

Fireworks on July 4th!

By BarneyNSC |

Could not believe how many people were walking through town or taking the free bus to go the the City Beach for the Fireworks Show. There must have been several thousand people attending. Beautiful beach and a great Fireworks Show on July 4th.

The lake is quite gorgeous

By greatcats |

The beach is nice but a bit small, especially if you are trying to social distance. Be aware of the train also, quite noisy.

Prettiest setting for a lake!

By Kimberly H |

The is an amazing small lake with a roped beach area. Restrooms too! Easily accessible. We went paddleboarding for the first time. We rented our boards in town. The lake is in a picture perfect setting, surrounded by mountains. I highly recommend.

Well needed getaway and so beautiful

By Shawna S |

My friends, my daughters and myself live In Kalispell, and we went to the Whitefish City Beach. I love it out there and I told my friend that I wish I could live in my tent out there, and she told me that there are camping spots so I am going to check that out so we can go to the city beach, being at the water is the best thing ever. I want us to do it as much as we can till the weather gets too cold

Worth A Visit

We were here in August 2018 on a smokey Saturday evening. Lots of people paddle boarding, swimming, ,fishing and canoeing. The water is cold even in August to us Georgia USA folks. It's a beautiful city park type area. There is limited parking and you access the lake by residential roads. There is a fine gravel beach with lots of space for sunbathing and relaxing. There are really no seating that we saw or limited at least so take a blanket or folding chair.

I ♥️public beaches that....

Don’t charge you an entrance fee or to park! On top of that it’s a sweet little beach, with a roped in swim area and a dock to swim out to. Also has a snack bar and facilities. Nice quiet vibe on the beach too!

Nice Lake beach

Nice place to cool off for a few hours. Views would be incredible without the smoke. Bring water shoes as the rocks will murder your feet.

Beautiful lake

While the lake was beautiful, the park area itself needs updated and cleaned. Large beach area. Needs additional parking options.

Beautiful City Beach located on Whitefish Lake

This beach is popular and can get busy in the summer time. It is a fun place for a pleasant walk and some fresh air the rest of the year.

Super clear water

We visited for about 15 minutes on evening. The weather was drizzly and cool, so we didn't get to experience the lake for all it is capable of. The water is super clean and clear. The views are incredible. I got some of my best pictures here.

Something for everyone

We enjoyed a wonderful picnic lunch under a shade tree, We watched many people swimming, paddle boarding, jet skis, boats and generally enjoying the beautiful outdoors. The snack shack drew us in with the smell of waffle cones! We sampled a local favorite- huckleberry ice cream. The restrooms were clean and sanitizer was available. The beach area was clean and most people gave each group their own space.
It was a fantastic afternoon and I definitely would return!

Nice beach, beautiful views. We went in May- so the water was cold but we enjoyed walking around and sitting by the beach. it wasn't busy at all.
The kids enjoyed dipping their feet in the water. it was a quiet day- so we could park easily, but the parking lot is tiny, so I presume it wad be difficult to find parking on a busy day

Did not impress us, but we are accustom to great NC & SC real beaches.

Thought we would take one day off from touring the park & forest areas, an 80+ degree day, so the thought of a beach area sounded good. We could not find anywhere to park even close, then when we checked it out, it was a tiny spot of sand on the lake shore that was very crowded. Not saying others may not find it great, but just did not appeal to us, so we moved on to some of the other great things to do in the Whitefish area.

Wish it were sandy

The rental shack is affordable and convenient. Rented chairs for the beach($10 ea for the day) and paddle boards ($15 ea per hour). The snack bar had hot dogs and ice cream. The water was clear and cold. Wish they had shipped in some sand. It's very dirty and dusty on the beach. The rocks are fairly painful so wear water shoes if you have sensitive feet.

Yummy ice cream

We stopped during our boating trip for ice cream and milkshakes. The menu is slightly overpriced but worth it to eat ice cream on the boat! The huckleberry ice cream was the best! Chocolate was good too.

Whitefish lake is a very beautiful beach. Nice short stop to check it out. Beach is clean and not overcrowded. Spent a couple hours laying on the beach and taking in the view.

Great beach.

A great little park that is a hidden gem. It is set on the south side of the lake with parking and picnic tables. If it would have been warmer we would have strolled down

Beautiful lake

We rented bikes and rode around Whitefish stopping at the lake for a swim. What a great place for a refreshing dip! There are some excursion boats that offer rides as well. Great spot for a picnic or just lounging.
