we avoided during the best summer beach time knowing it would be crazy crowded. Easily able to set up well away from folks. lots of parking although construction is going on for an open air event venue so getting into parking lot was a bit of a challenge.

This has a very nice public access area with nice facilities, swings, and an open area. Yes, it’s a little crowded but it’s a public beach in the summer. If you’re there at low tide though, you don’t notice but so much because the area is enormous. I love how you can walk forever at this beach and it not be too deep. The waves are pretty chill but there’s some there still. They say no boogie boarding in the swim areas but nobody seemed to care that others were doing it. The water temp in mid August was mid 80s. The sand is very compact so you can rent bikes and ride them on the beach for miles which is really cool to do. This is a very nice beach.

We have been going to HHI for 15-20 years. Have stayed in Sea Pines, Palmetto dunes, Shipyard & Forest Beach area. Forest beach is by FAR my favorite. An easy walk or bike ride to the beach, restaurants, shopping, everything!
Coligny Beach is the main area across from Coligny plaza & they have a spot where the sprinklers come out of the ground for the kids to play in, ice cream shops close, shopping, food & shows for kids in Coligny plaza.

Area is very clean . Love the bike trails . The one drawback is there are a lot of people. The beaches are nice and wide . The trees and foliage are beautiful.

If you ever head out to Hilton Head Island, I highly recommend you stop at Coligny Beach Park because it is really awesome

Coligny Beach is a great location. We were guest at the Beach House Hotel, that is located in this area. It is walking distance to the beach, and many other eateries.

Near Coligny Plaza where all the action is on Hilton Head Island. Short walk from the free beach parking lot. The sand dunes are much narrower here and the beach is smooth and clean. Many places to stay in this area and many casual dining places too. Great place to walk even in cooler weather.

Great for families, senior easy access, swings, seating, facilities for easy changing. walkway to beach.

All of Hilton heads beaches are awesome. We biked the 3 miles from sea pines on the beach(check wind direction!) to have lunch and enjoy the live music at the Tiki Hut. Great views and food!

Nice spot. Sometimes a little crowded. I like the boardwalk kinda area with the swings on it. I like the shops in the area and the set up is nice

Loved this beach. Family of 5 - ages 10-11. Free parking (if you arrive before 10,fills fast). 40 dollars for two nice chairs under Umbrella.

The sand bar here goes out with a slight decline for a great distance - kids were excited to be standing easily far out. Sand is clean/soft. Great beach day!

Not sure how you rate a beach... is there anything as a bad beach? Anyways they have lots of public parking here and the walkway is well maintained with bench and swings. Didn't use the facilities here but everything looked good. The beach itself is perfect, nice clean sand and water. What more can you ask for?

This beach is very family friendly, meaning it’s shallow and flat for a long way out. Walking distance to food and shopping. Great place to go.

What a gorgeous white sand beach!! A great spot for a walk, morning, afternoon, or evening. If you're hungry or in the mood to shop, you'll find multiple restaurants and stores right there. We make sure we get down to the Coligny area every time we go to Hilton Head Island.

Visiting Hilton Head in mid-September has its bonuses...far less crowded and glorious weather! That's what we experienced on our day at Coligny. A gentle ocean breeze, sand between my toes, the sound of a gentle wave...almost as perfect as my childhood in Hawaii. Still Coligny is a perfect place to reflect and savor one's moment in time.

I like beaches like this one. Not over developed like some beaches are, lots of choices for places to eat nearby.

Loved this spot. Very dog and human friendly. Great area before the beach with restrooms, changing rooms, and swinging benches. Sand was so soft. Easy path to walk down. Most of the sand was compact for people to ride their bikes. One of my favorite beaches on the east coast.

The beach itself was wonderful! The lifeguard's have quite a racquet going. The umbrella and two chairs were set up. Started using them. The guy comes bye and says, "That will be $22 for the day." I said, " How much for 4 hours?" His reply, " $22." I said, " How about 2 hours?" "$22". We were there about two more hours. I imagine at about 3:00 PM, they came bye and told the next family, "That'll be $22."
I suggest you buy an umbrella and two chairs for $40 and save yourself a bundle on your week vacation at the beach in South Carolina. Or better yet, the City Council require the business owners along the beach to purchase umbrellas and chairs and approve advertisements on the umbrellas and chairs as a way of increasing business and tax revenue and everyone wins.

Aside from the tricky parking situation, this is just a delightful beach experience. Arrive early if you want convenient parking. There are cute little changing rooms along the route to the beach. Chair and umbrella rentals are fairly dear in price, with discounts for half days (AFTER 1 PM ) or quarter days (after 3 PM) They can be arranged through your hotel or the lifeguards on most beaches. Very clean beaches, good crowd control, a few public access points and one really fun Tiki Bar. Easy walk to some fun shops and restaurants.

If you don't mind crowdy beaches, this is the right place. Warm water, great facilities, lovely sorroundings. We reaaly enjoyed goig to Coligny beach.

We strolled around here and enjoyed the little shops and views. It was a great place to grab a quick bite by the water. Good for an afternoon of walking.

Other than being overly crowed, we had a great time. The beach and the area is beautiful and very lean. The golf cart trolley to and from were fantastic. I highly recommend this vacation spot to anyone looking for a great time

They had water and a path to the beach. Very organized and clean. Sat and relaxed at the swing sets before walking to the beach.

Hilton Head has such beautiful beaches! Every morning we would go right to the beach to watch the sun rise, then we’d walk for miles. We would enjoy the sights along the way, meet super cute pups and collect small shells. There is nothing more peaceful and calming. Beach was clean and maintained well. The water was very warm, unlike our cold northern ones!

I enjoyed spending my birthday at this beach last week. It was nice, clean, family friendly and traffic was not congested.

We’ve been coming here for over 30 years. We’ve always enjoyed the experience. Still a nice beach but getting too crowded. Sand I’d hard packed with few seashells. The beach is extremely clean. Still a great HHI experience.

This beach is probably one of the nicest we have been to on the east coast. The sand is so soft and powdery. It seems the town has spent a lot of money to improve this area. The swings, benches, and chairs are plentiful and a nice touch. We were here during off season so it wasn’t very busy and plenty of room was to be had to enjoy the area. Nice beach to walk, ride bike or just sit and relax on. The area features many cute little shops and nice restaurants to enjoy dinner or drinks at.

Beautiful beach and facilities. Lots of free parking! Easy access and lifeguards on the beach. Social distancing needs to be enforced. Visitors not wearing face masks around large groups.

Lots of beach to walk. The waves are awesome!! i enjoy watching the birds and dolphins swimming offshore.

Nice, clean beach with a ton of space to sprawl out, even when there are tons of people there. When the tide goes out the beach becomes full of shallow tide pools that are fun to walk through and fun for the kids. If you look closely in the tide pools you might see crabs or starfish which is cool as well!

Coligny beach is the ULTIMATE beach gateway. The area is fantastic....beach changing rooms, showers, restrooms, rental chairs. Very well done

Beautiful miles of sandy beach. Great for long walks on the beach. Entry area to the beach has restrooms, benches and area to rinse of sand from feet. Even though it was November we were able to walk in the water. But surf was too rough for swimming at the time because of tropical storm effects. Would love to go back again.

A lot of variety of restaurants and shops are just outside the beach area. You can rent umbrellas and chairs on the beach. Lifeguards are on duty 9-5 everyday. Very clean and safe.

The beach was very busy, but it was very hot out! We ended up renting chairs with umbrellas, pretty pricey. The water was so warm but one person in our party was stung by a jellyfish. There were people around us that were also stung by jellyfish.

Nice, clean beach. Was a little too chilly for us to go for a swim, but we had a nice walk and loved the view. There was a nice bath to get over to the beach from the walking path. Will go back here again.

Love this shopping area - lots of fun unique shops with a laidback beach atmosphere! Our entire family including teens, young kids and adults, loves to come here every year. The area is beautiful!

Unattended speakers - loud music blaring; children running amok without supervision; screaming from one end to another; what was once a genteel place has become the wild west of bad behavior;

nice beach, seems to go on for miles. They have chairs and umbrellas you can rent for $38. We did this just to have some shade. Beach was ok for boogie boarding in the morning, kids tried for a while and got some waves. Lots of people! It really filled up as the day went on. They do have bathrooms, changing stalls and showers to use. There is a free parking lot but it fills up. So I would recommend going early.

This was the closest beach to our condo and we had high hopes. The parking is a bit of a walk to the beach so keep that in mind. The beach has decent bathrooms and showers which was a plus. The downside - it was sooooooooo crowded ☹️ and some of the crowd seemed a little sketchy. If you’re looking for a party scene - this beach might be for you.

Beautiful public beach. Nice areas to rinse off all the sand. However be warned, August must be jellyfish season. several people, including two in my group, got stung. If it wasn't for that, Coligny beach is a wonderful place to be.

We enjoyed our stroll along he beach while visiting. It was nice, clean and not very crowded while we was there

The beach is very wide and most of it is hard sand so you can ride your bikes on it! What a great workout! The sunrise was beautiful. Beautiful beach. Perfect!

The beach was wonderful -- a very large and clean area, bathrooms, shower and rinse stations available. Chairs and umbrellas could be rented I believe (we had our own things). Parking is the only possible challenge. Once the free lot becomes full they close access until late afternoon, at least on this day they did. We drove around until a space opened in an area nearby, but noticed some open in the designated lot. Since there's a dropoff lane at the beach entrance it's not too bad, but the parking is only thing causing 4 instead of 5 stars. Still a great beach though!

While on our trip we were only staying a half a mile from here so we went 2 times. Very nice place! Great for shopping and beaching! Lots to choose from; eats and ice-cream. We enjoyed our time here. Recommend!!

If you were to design the perfect public beach, this would be it!
A fresh bicycle pump, clean restrooms, little shacks to change your clothes, swings and adequate seating for adults, and free wifi were just some of the features of this beach. Plus tons of natural beauty!

We were at the beach for Memorial Day weekend and the week after. The weekend was bonkers. There were so many people. Most people were nice and friendly. A few decided to have loud music. After the weekend, the beach was perfect. Just the right number of people. The waves were good for skim boarding and boogie boarding. The life guards were plentiful. The beaches were clean and sand was fine. No shells, but a good number of jelly fish.

The beach was crowded and fair quality. I thoroughly enjoyed the area around the beach. Great bike riding, quaint shops, cute neighborhood, expensive homes... worth a visit to the area even if you don’t want to go to the beach.

This is a great beach with restaurants and shopping nearby. Riding bikes on the beach at low tide is a fun way to see the beach

The restrooms & changing areas were adequately clean. The swings and rocking chairs were super nice to sit and relax. The splashpad was still off (I would suppose due to Covid) and it certainly lacked social distancing. The water and sand were both beautiful.

We’ve been to Hilton head several times over the last few decades. This Beach is always our favorite along with shopping nearby and the restaurants we always try to book in this area. The Beach is very good to walk on. Bicycles are welcome. Dogs and pets are welcomed. You will even see a few people fishing early in the morning and late in the evening.

We throughly enjoyed this beach. We used the parking across the street daily. We also loved the pathway that led out to the beach - almost to the water. It was nice because we saw people that were in wheelchairs using the path to the beach.

Water was comfortably warm. Soft sand on a clean beach. Busy but not Ocean City busy. Overall a great beach no matter what you’re looking for.

Very nice public beach. There is a great parking area and courtyard with bathrooms, porch swings, a place to rinse your feet. The beach here is wide and beautiful.

Smooth, clean sand. Easy access to the beach and water. Beautiful dolphins sawn close by! Parking close to beach access. Plenty of people, yet it didn’t seem crowded.

A very average beach in the nice Hilton Head setting. Didn't like seeing the mom take her naked baby girl on the sand where it meets the water to urinate in front of everyone.

It was packed and everyone seemed to enjoy their time there. Just OK for me.

The beach is wide and beautiful. The walkway approach is very nice with places to sit, restrooms and changing rooms. It is near a new park for kids and shopping all within walking distance.

The beach was fantastic. We went for day trip from Savannah. There are chair rentals all along the beach. We rented chairs and an umbrella and it was well worth it for the day. The beach sand was very nice and ocean felt like bath water. The surf was a bit rough the day we were there but it was fun letting the waves roll in over you in the shallow areas-they stretch out pretty far as the tide rolled out later in the day we could see it. We also loved that there was Tiki bar nearby with live music and tiki drinks. We had drinks and appetizers there. The bathrooms were close and clean along with showers to get the sand off. We walked around the shopping area and there was a fantastic ice cream shop as well. This beach is worth a visit and I would definitely consider staying in this area if I wanted to visit Savannah. Its only an hour drive for a day trip.

So good to have this place to park and then walk to the beach. You do need to be able to walk a little bit to get to the beach. Happy that there isn't a fee to park. Great central location on the beach. Bathrooms are available and that is important!

Coligny Beach was amazingly beautiful. My wife and I drove up from Savannah for a day of sun and relaxation and we got that and much more.The beautiful white sand, the ocean waves and the picturesque setting left us speechless. The weather was perfect with everyone having fun and enjoying such a wonderful day. The visitor's parking was close and ample. Plenty of public accommodations (bathrooms, rinse stations, seating areas) were there right as you enter the beach.The rubber pathway to the beach made it very easy to haul all of your items to your favorite spot. Everything was just as we pictured it, simply amazing.

Best way to end 2023 was sitting on the beach and people watching! Great sand and lots of fun to be had - even for just a chill-y day in the sun!

This is the place to catch some rays and hit the waves on Hilton Head. On the summer day we visited it was really busy forcing us to park in a far away lot after dropping off our gear. At least its a huge beach with hard sand that’s easy to walk on. The waves are usually fairly gentle and warm and we had a great time on our wave boards. It’s a good idea to bring an umbrella on this wide open beach. Definitely a good time for all.

Beautiful beach with big tide swings. Water was very warm and mild waves. A few jelly fishes but the facilities were excellent

The beach was nice, but crowded. My children enjoyed it. It was plenty of free parking, about a five minute walk to the beach.

We were eating locally and decided to take look at this very popular beach. Early October perfect weather for walk. There were visitors enjoying the sunny day. There is free parking nearby. This beach must get mobbed inn the summer.

This Beach has something for every traveler! With a multitude of restaurants, rentals, shopping, and shops. This location has bathrooms, water stations, seating, and dressing rooms. All open to the public with free parking across the street. This is a very popular beach that is taken over in the summer, but mild in the winter. This is a well known beach with plenty to do if you are vacationing.

A beautiful area, dog friendly, Easy parking, the walkways are well maintained, bike rentals are nearby, and the large beach is made to accommodate everyone with lots of room, especially at low tide for beach goers, dog walkers and bike riders.
The amenities are close, with wash stations for sandy feet, changing booths, and clean and stocked restrooms.
There’s lots of great restaurants to choose from within walking distance, go early or plan to wait for a table though.

Great sunsets. Great beach. Good place to walk and take the dog. Nothing like the beaches here. And Coligny is easy to get to

We stayed in a nearby condo. The walking paths to the beach are great. The beach is wide, long, and sandy. Easy to ride bicycles on the wet sand.

Coligny beach is beautiful with great facilities. If you’re looking to relax , this is not the place to go. Literally thousands of people here. Absolutely not the place to go to relax .

After paying for an umbrella and chairs, couples were allowed to erect sun tents directly in front of our chairs, completely blocking our direct view of the ocean. Every beach I’ve ever traveled to made non paying guests place their umbrellas and tents behind the paid for umbrellas and chairs. Very frustrating that our beach view was marred.

Fun beach, lots of people enjoying the sun, playing football, soccer etc. This could be a Really fun beach if it weren’t surrounded by condos and I think I saw an office building? If it instead had more restaurants, bars etc. lining the beach it would be more enjoyable. This might be a city zoning issue though. Overall good, clean beach.

This is a beautiful public beach with easy parking and great service on the beach, in terms of umbrellas and chairs. Also nice area to wash off as you exit.

We were at this beach several times during the week we were in Hilton Head and it was amazing! There's matting on the walk to the beach, doggie waste stations, and basket trees where beach-goers can take a basket and pick up trash to keep the beach looking as lovely as it did! They ask that you dump the trash and replace the basket! Gorgeous white sand, too. And great parking areas for no charge, as well as restrooms.

The traffic was heavy today. Parking was filling up fast. I was able to find a parking space near the beach entrance. There is a larger parking area on the other side of the traffic circle. As I walk to the beach, there is a beautiful tree perfect for photos. I continued down the sidewalk, I arrived at the fountain. The kids love playing in the water. The boardwalk starts with the bathrooms, showers, and then the swings and seating area. The path to the water has matting to make it easier to walk to the beach. It also makes it possible for wheelchairs and scoters to make it to the beach area. The beach has lifeguards and seating with umbrellas for rent to enjoy extended beach time. The beach sand feels like sugar. There are many areas with crushed shells making the sand sharp and gritty in some places. When the tide is out, multiple tide pools are created. Parents often let little children play there for safety. The sky is beautiful on the beach at sunrise. It was worth getting up early. Another bonus is the variety of restaurants and shopping. Coligny Beach is a great place to spend the day.

Good beach. We went for a walk up and down it. Lots of Jellyfish ashore. The area around the beach and getting to the beach is very nice. Also rode bikes on the beach

This beach is readily accessible with plenty of public parking. The entrance to the beach is covered with MobiMat - which makes it easy for bikes, wheelchairs, carts, wagons and strollers to access the beach. The beach is clean. there are ample trash cans available up and down the beach. Umbrellas and chairs are available for rental from the beach patrol. these can also be reserved and paid for ahead of time There are easily accessible rest rooms. Overall, a very positive experience.

April brings out the tourists packing the wide white sterile sand at Coligny Beach. No seashells. Locals know to stay away now. But the tourist money pours in. Fish Hual Beach is not as "pretty" but more interesting and less crowded. Don't come looking for shells at Hilton Head but if you like Thrift Stores, they crowd the highway with top-notch clothing, too.

Wonderful beach on Hilton Head. All that you could ask for. Like elsewhere in Hilton Head the only question you have is will there be anyone left in New York to turn the lights off when they all get to Hilton Head?

Excellent area for the family to enjoy the beach. The ground in the is smooth with very few things to step on. The kids (2, 6, 10) enjoyed the waves. Bathrooms, showers, and change rooms are close by. Children can enjoy a splash area on the boardwalk. Coligny Plaza is close by with shops, restaurants, Rita’s Italian Ice, or other stores with a wide variety of food and beach items. The new LowCountry Experience Playground was very nice. The children’s water feature was not working yet. This Wednesday was a little less busy on the beach and perfect to be on the beach with an early afternoon incoming high tide.

Coligny has the best beach access with changing rooms, restrooms, mats in sand toward beach for easy walking or bikes, parking across the street and a great location to shops & restaurants. We go early mornings on our bikes to watch the sunrise here.

Still something to see and a must! Cute little shops all around with lots of people truck to sell you time shares and wanting you to get in their golf carts. This wasn’t great.

I rode a bike 4 miles along the beach to get to this area and 5 miles to get back. The Coligny Beach area and park have a lot to offer - beach, bike paths, boardwalks, restrooms, Tiki Bar with live music. Must be crowded in the warmer months - for sure.

My husband, dog, and I visited Coligny Beach on a partly sunny day. The beach was not crowded and so was a great time to take a nice, long walk along the ocean. Everyone was keeping their distance and wearing masks when appropriate. They even had poop bags in case you forgot yours and needed to clean up. There were bathrooms and places to sit and enjoy the day.

Huge, clean, beautiful beach! Family friendly, and lifeguards are posted until approximately 5pm each day. Public access makes this area very busy, but still felt safe at all times of day and late evening.

Nice beach to visit. Excellent, free parking close by. Amenities including restaurants, shops, areas to congregate off the beach, etc. are on the beach and/or nearby. Miles of shoreline. A bit crowded compared so some other beaches, but charming and enjoyable.

Free parking with tons of spaces. Nice beach with plenty of space. Does get crowded but this is expected. Closed to the Adventure playground which is great for the kiddos.

We thoroughly enjoyed the stretch of beach from Coligny to the west. It’s interesting that this seamless stretch of beach is divided up, but it’s all great. Because of the gradual slope there’s not much in the way of waves at the water’s edge, so it’s easy to walk in the water. The sand itself is hard packed, which also makes walking easy. The Coligny area is notable for an ocean-front park and an shopping area that features a lot of interesting specialty shops.

Absolutely beautiful we love Hilton Head Beach, accessible to the water very kid friendly and family oriented some great restaurants near can't wait to go back and stay even longer

Before you even get to the beach there is a circle to drop off the family and your stuff before you park. Parking is close but fills in season early. Walking on the bamboo mates gives you time to get organized or even stop to swing or rock in a chair along the walk. Enjoy.

Our family comes to Hilton Head every two years. At this point we have been her multiple time as the kids were little and now they are teens (three families). Our mother is also handicap (MS) so have that to navigate also. Recommend using a shade sail v an umbrella as the wind gets high. We rent a beach wheelchair for my mom. The sand is soft near the grass but primarily packed in hard. We enjoy this for games, mobility, and setting up our space. At night you can go out with red flashlights and see the crabs. We have used the Beach Club but find it over crowded. Preferences the local access across from the house we rent on Wagon Rd. Rent bikes and it’s a snap. So many good memories made and we will continue to make them.

I really enjoyed spending time with my family. Also the other visitors were so friendly! Fiddlers Cove was a very nice community.

Great beach ,clean warm water , free public showers. Free parking good choice of restaurants in walking distance bike rentals etc. If you stY in area overbite bring flashlight or phone as roads extremely dark.

My wife and I drove from our hotel to the beach. Unfortunately it was cloudy and chilly and high tide. We found nothing special on the beach as it was just like many other beaches. Sand, water and nothing else to do. No amenities on the beach. You had to leave the beach and go to the Coligny shopping plaza. All in all just your standard beach that you can find in most areas.

Can't go wrong here. The park is nice and the beach is well cared for. We rented an umbrella and chairs for the week.

What a disaster coming on vacation to Hilton head. If you coming from UK You tend NOT to bring a beach umbrella OR chairs OR towels etc with you. Well when we got the beach we realised there were ZERO facilities.

1 - no beach umbrella or beds to hire. Ones that were there all reserved
2 -Hotel would provide no beach towels on amenities
3 - no shops on or near the beach to buy or rent beach umbrella. I guess if you had a car you could drive miles away to find some
4 - no facilities eg toilets or outside showers to rinse sand on the beach
5- life guard that was half asleep most of the day

What a mistake to come to HH South Carolina. Locals so unfriendly when we asked for help and assistance .
We have cancelled remaining of our trip and going to Florida that do know how to value a visitor.

I won’t be returning to South Carolina again.

Our family usually stays along N. Forest Beach area in the summer. This trip was just my wife and I trying to get away. We stayed very near Coligny Beach to get different experience and be able to walk everywhere nearby. Beach was less crowded compared to peak season (summer) but still had more people than further north along Dune Avenue. Rental chairs and umbrellas are pricey for being in fair condition and not able to fully recline/lay flat but shade was appreciated. These are a good option of the wind is strong as most personal umbrellas/tents would not work too well.

Coligny Beach is a great place to go as it's always clean, seldom packed, and a place you can just sit and enjoy the sounds of the ocean, or take a walk on the beach (or bike ride) that can go for miles if you want.

What a show!!! Too many people. It was so crowded, and the patrons were just nasty and obnoxious. If you want a little peace, go to one of the beaches where you have to pay to get in. It is worth it.

Nice Long Beach with wonderful sand. Not so busy even in August or because of August ? Last storm had passed by and therefore water was warm but brownish

The beach is clean and everything you need is within walking distance. If you stay close by you really wouldn't need your car at all. Food, shopping, awesome ice cream...The beach was clean and felt very safe. This was my first visit to Hilton Head Island- I've been to Hollywood Beach, Virginia Beach, Clearwater, Panama City Beach, and Destin. Honestly I love the Gulf, but this was pretty impressive.

This beach is a hot mess. Wall to wall people - in October! - hundreds of children, radios blaring, crappy live music playing so loudly you couldn’t even hear the water. Parking was abysmal. I can’t imagine why people like this. I’m glad we stayed in a much quieter and more beautiful area of the island.

Other than being crowded which is to be expected for a public beach, this is very nice. They have chairs and umbrellas to rent for $38. Nice , clean bathrooms, swings to relax on. Showers and changing rooms. It is matted all the way to the beach which makes it nice for wheeling anything down to the beach.A place to rinse off your feet. A nice paved and shady walkway from the parking lot to the beach. Was very impressed! We usually stay in Shipyard and are used to that beach but this was very nice as well!! A very accommodating public beach!!

We didn’t spend a lot of time here as we were renting a place at Palmetto Dunes with access to a private beach. I was surprised at how crowded it was considering that it was Thanksgiving weekend when we went and the weather was just ok. But despite the crowds, most people were practicing social distancing within family groups. The beach was clean and would make a nice place to take your family.

Our September visit was great. Free parking - Easy walk to the beach - Clean restrooms - Benches and Gazebos to relax - Place to rinse the sand off your feet - Splash pad for the kids (and kids at heart) - Lifeguard on the beach - Umbrella and chair rental- Flat beach so you can walk out far and still touch bottom - Friendly people from near and far - Short walk takes you to many places to eat, drink and shop.
I’m sure this beach would be very crowded during the summer months but it was perfect during our visit.

I walked the beach for 3mi on four days. The sand was packed during low tide so it was an easy walk. Nice to be out and enjoy the beach again!!!

It was a pretty smooth drive from Savannah to Hilton Head. I enjoyed my short beach day soaking up the sun at Coligny Beach in August. There is a carpeted walkway down to the sand to save your feet from burning. Also, I’d think it makes it easier for those with strollers. The beach is a long stretch of golden sand that stretches for miles. They had change rooms, showers, bathrooms, and a play area for kids. There is multiple parking lots off but one entrance off the Main Street. There is also a park and small shopping/dining plaza nearby.

Great beach, very clean. Nice restrooms and showers to wash off with. Coligny plaza is a very nice area to take a break and visit.

Clean beach, pretty area, an awesome beach mat that leads all the way to beach to help with coolers and wagons. Only downfall, BUSY!!! It was definitely one of the busiest beaches I have ever been to and I’ve been to a lot of beaches lol.

Waited until midweek with off and on rain thinking this beach would not be as busy. Timed it just right! Got a parking space right on the street. Used the changing rooms- no wait. Beach was great- little bit of waves. Lots of folks but it was not super crowded. When we got tired, headed out and we were able to get rinsed off right away. Then we were steps away from lunch. Great afternoon!

Beach was clean and wonderful! Nice area to sit before the beach and showers and bathrooms, too! One of the nicest public beaches on HHI!

Great facilities, nice beach and nearby shops. No question lots of people here. Beach guys do a great job with the chairs and umbrellas.
Across the street are shops and restaurants, so nothing to lack for.

Very wide, very clean, flat beach. Excellent access with a nice courtyard. It wasn't overly crowded even on a Saturday.

Rented chairs and umbrellas from beach patrol for the week, over $300 dollars. We had to open our umbrella everyday ourselves. Our party was all over 60 years old with health issues. Also, other beach goers were allowed to place their own umbrellas directly in front of our view. We vacation here almost every year and this has never been allowed to happen. Always before no one was allowed within a certain distance of the rented chairs/umbrellas. Very disappointed with the way the beach patrol handled things this year.

Warm water, clean clean clean !!! Lifeguards, yes floats, noodles, boogie boards okay to use. Easy beach access through various points with food close by and their bathrooms.

Easy access to beach font. Free public parking within walking distance (less than a block). Plenty of shopping and dining options. Does not require Sea Pine entry. Free activity with restroom at entry. Well-lit at night. Public art displayed along walkway to beach.

So pretty! Whomever planned out HHI did an amazing job. The entry to this beach is absolutely gorgeous with the benches, statues, and trees. Impressed with the mat going way down the beach to help make it wheelchair accessible.

Nice walkway mat to the beach, splash pad, restrooms, free and very warm water, but so crowded it took away from the pleasure of being at the beach. I like less crowded beaches.

Beautiful morning on the beach. As the sun rose we were walking along this beautiful beach with people strong out here and there. So beautiful when we were done we had to go back to the hotel and get our bikes and then go for a bike ride down the beach so wonderful to be able to do that. Lovely beach to sit in the sun, to finds shells, to watch the pelicans in the boats, to Build a Sandcastle.

I love this beach, it is my all time favorite and I will continue to visit till I am too old to travel! Hilton Head Island takes excellent care of their beaches and I truly admire everyone in the area for being such responsible host to visitors.

Beautiful, very clean sand with attractive swings, benches, and landscaping. Appreciated the sidewalks being handicap accessible since we use a cane. Just the best experience and bonus with restaurants and bar within walking distance.

We met a friend at Cologne Beach.
The beach has wide sandy beaches, and is handicap accessible with a path down to the beach.

We were there to let our dogs play. Once we walked away from the crowds at the entrance, the beach opened up with more space, less humans.

If you visit Coligny, walk 15 minutes away from the main entrance snd you will have a private beach experience.

Very nice area, People super nice and the beach was fabulous. If you like exercise this is the place, lots of walking and playing. Food was good, the Sea Shack for great food was the best. It is a hole in the wall, but the food is great

Sand is hard and easy to walk on. Believe it or not, they have the beach carpeted halfway to shore. Great for handicapped people. Drop-off spot for handicapped, and free parking lot across street.

Get there early as this can get crowded fast. Parking is free and convenient. Chairs and umbrellas can be rented for about $40 for a whole day. The beach eventually got full but still maintained social distancing. Facilities are nice.

My son and his fiancée decided to marry in a small Monday morning ceremony on Coligny Beach. It was beautiful in its simplicity. Beach goers and the Tiki Bar were very respectful in not blaring any loud music. The ladies all removed their heels to walk in the sand. After communion and a prayer circle with parents and siblings, they celebrated to the sounds of “Wouldn’t it be Nice” by The Beach Boys! A perfect day on Coligny Beach!

The most beautiful beach park ever! Clean, neat, immaculate, great facilities, beautiful beach access. Swings and flowers, adjoining park and plaza across the street with shops and restaurants all within walking distance. A perfect day!

Great public Beach access .. so clean and so many amenities available to the public. Beautiful beach ! If I lived in the area I would definitely visit as much as I could . We had a great time there.

I always love walking on Coligny Beach in the morning. The beach is well kept, the bathrooms are stocked well, even when I went in on Memorial Day and I often see workers collecting trash or doing other things to keep it looking nice. One thing I saw this year that I appreciated was a bin of toys that had been found in the beach. The sign said to add to it or take from it which I thought was such a great idea. And of course, we always love seeing the dolphins swim by.

We went down to take a look and the beach is impressive. It was very clean and miles of white sand. It has very nice bath/changing rooms and a great path down to the beach. Great place to bring the family.

We loved spending the day here! The sand is gorgeous, the parking is close and free, there are beautiful amenities very close (bathrooms, changing rooms, foot rinse showers, pretty swinging benches, lots of stores and shops). Everything is clean and there are rentals available that we didn’t get a chance to use because we didn’t stay long, but next time we will absolutely rent some bikes to ride on the beach- they looked so fun! There are lifeguards. We got to watch dolphins playing not far off shore all day! The surf was perfect for our 5- and 8-year-olds to play in safely. Highly recommend this beach.

A beautiful beach to be sure but extremely crowded. It was nice having an actually beach restaurant close and the amenities (showers, changing rooms, clean restrooms) are great. It could absolutely do with a bike rack though.

One of the most beautiful beaches you will ever see! Great area as you approach with swing benches, bathrooms and showers... There are lots of shops and restaurants, ice cream places within close walking distance.

Long beach shore, ocean is mild and water was cold in November, but after a little while it felt good. We had good weather, very blessed

Very clean. We saw baby sea turtles hatch!! Lifeguards on duty during hours. Patrolled by local police. Would definitely visit again!!

While the beach was pretty and the park wading up to it was very nice, this beach was so crowded. We went on a Thursday, and as far as you could see there was no place to sit.

Coligny Beach is a public beach in Hilton Head. The beach was clean and well-maintained. There is a large public parking area a short walk from the beach. As a result, this beach is busy all year long. All types of shade cover are permitted, and you will likely be looking at a tent, an umbrella, or some other shade structure. People bring in items by the wagonload. We enjoyed our day on the beach and would go back again. If you are looking for a secluded spot, you might want to go somewhere else.

We were there in late June 2021. The beach was so packed and busy you could hardly move. People were packed in like sardines. We couldn't even see the ocean from the sand where we were sitting each day. Cigarette and cigar smoke was heavy in the air constantly, it felt more like a bar than a beach. So many people had radios blaring so loud we couldn't hear the ocean. There are clearly marked signs that you are not allowed on the dunes. We watched several guys continually walk into the dunes to pee. People had dogs sitting on the beach with no umbrellas and the poor animals were clearly suffering. This beach was a collection of the most trashy humans we have ever seen. We will never go back to Hilton Head.

The place is very dog friendly and clean. The dogs didn't care for the ocean but loved the beach. It was good for biking too

Coligny Beach is very well maintained. It offers showers, restrooms, changing stalls and places to sit and relax. Wonderful beach park.

There was a great variety of shopping options and easy bike access to the beach. Very crowded, but much to offer.

Beautiful "boardwalk" path out to Coligny Beach....equipped with public restrooms, showers and changing areas, swings and other seating areas. One nice touch is a rugged fabric pathway at the end of the "boardwalk" out onto the beach. Makes it easier to pull a wagon, ride a bike, etc through the soft sand.

What a beautiful beach! The water was so refreshing. The waves were just high enough to make for a very exciting adventure for our grandchildren.

Stopped here for morning walk on the beach. Enjoyed the nice swings in the shade. Clean bathrooms. Fun people watching with plenty of different chair options heading to wide beach access.

This is a nice beach but we had a hot walk to get to it. Parking is across the street. Not too convenient unless you are staying close to it. I hung out in the park in the shade because I got overheated, but the teenagers loved it!

In spite of July 4th crowds, the beach was very clean thanks to many trash receptacles and considerate beachgoers, The waves are nice and gentle - great for children learning how to use skim boards or swim.

We did not see any seashells but threw a starfish back in that got stranded with the tide going out.

There's plenty of space on the beach for everyone to keep socially distant from each other. People were still able to play catch, bocce ball, and other beach games without running into others. There's a constant breeze to keep those kites up high!

Coligny Beach not only is a great beach to use but has plenty of shops, restaurants, pubs restrooms and changing rooms at the entrance to the beach.

I took two of my children with their families to Coligny Beach. It is a beautiful beach. It has great facilities. It has a wonderful park with fountains for the kids to running. The fountains were not on of course because of this covered 19. Lots of stores nearby also. Parking can be a pain in the butt sometimes.

Very peaceful. Enjoyed long walks jumping of waves and people watching. Was able to social distance accordingly

Nice beach. Can ride bikes on it. Not too crowded. Small waves. Excellent for children. Clean. You have to use metered public parking with a one-quarter mile walk to get to it.

Great public access beach with a fair amount of parking nearby. Small dressing rooms available and showers to wash feet or body to get the sand off. Kid friendly, clean bathrooms, cheap parking (at least off season). Would definitely visit again!

We had a great time at Coligny Beach. With 4 little ones under the age of 8 and our daughter, we arrived early on a weekday (around 9:30) and were able to find prime parking very close to the main entrance. The beach has everything... clean restrooms, life guards, an impressive walkway from the entrance to the water's edge (possibly accommodating the handicapped), swinging benches along the walkway...it was so nice that at first we thought we were entering one of the private beach hotel properties. There seem to be nice, upscale shops at the entrance where we parked but with the little ones, we decided not to venture in. Would definitely go back the next time we're there and recommend the place.

We visited coligny beach several times while we were in Hilton Head. We loved the relaxing areas to sit before you even hit the sand. Beautiful beach for walking, nice & flat with shallow water. Great shops & restaurants close by to walk to.

Ok, so this beach gets a bad rap because it's a crowded public beach.
HOWEVER, it really had great, close and free parking. They have really made the entry way very nice. Sculptures, shaded porch-type swings, beautiful path, again, shaded.
There were literally no shells.
We were there in the evening, the trash cans at the entrance needed taken out badly. But, this is not unusual these days.
We had NO problem finding a nice spot to put up our umbrella and blankets.

Clean rest rooms, benches and swings at the entrance. Easy access, handicapped accessible. You can walk for miles along the beach. Not great for shells.

This is a very nice beach. The community has put a great deal of money into to main entrance, with fountains, changing rooms and swings. In summer recommend coming early to mid morning or late afternoon. For some reason it gets crowded midday.

Great easy access public beach area with wide flat beach. Great for biking, walking, swimming, or sun bathing. There are a few restaurants within walking distance. Best to park early or bike to the beach due to crowds.

Very nice beach and surprisingly warm ocean water. Clean and safe beach, fun times. There is a Breeze public trolley which brings you right to the beach.

We love this beach, it is plentiful with marine life, such as sand dollars, star fish, and a variety of crabs. It has a drop off to unload your beach gear, and benches right by the kid's splash pad. Parking is ample...and FREE!!! There are bathrooms, changing areas, showers, swings, foot wash, and a beautiful walkway leading you out towards the entrance to the beach. Our favorite part, a two lane mat to walk/roll all of the beach gear, wagons, coolers, etc. through the deep sand. Makes getting out to the hard sand so much easier! The beach does get busy, I suggest coming at low tide, as you have a lot more beach for all the vacationers! Plus, that is the best time to go "critter hunting" with the family! We appreciate how clean this beach is, and we have never encountered any problems with fellow beach goers, and we stay out all day long.

The beach at that is not crowded due to the season. It's nice and clean. I feel it is a safe beach area.

We took 3 teens (2 girls and a boy) to this beach for 3 hours. I've been going to Hilton Head Island since I was a kid and like the beach in the Holiday Inn vicinity. There are vacation rentals and hotels nearby and it gets crowded which is what the teens wanted.

Everyone was happy with the beach, they have a new free parking area not far from the beach and Coligny Plaza across the street has restaurants, shops and ice cream.

Every shop and business on the island has the mask required signs so bring one with you, pretty much everywhere you go inside. We went for Ice Cream after the beach so just think ahead.

We had a nice time at Coligny Beach with it's warm beach water. They also have many shops and restaurants in this area.

Busy but not crowded this is a very popular beach. We enjoyed our brisk refreshing November walk today. Many people strolling, some playing ball or frisbee, some fishing, few sampling the water with their feet. Nice sunset.
The parking was easy this time of the year.

Beautiful wide beach. Lots of space to distance from others. Clean. Saw dolphins, sandpipers, sea birds. Great outdoor showers, washrooms and change rooms.

This beach is FREE! Free parking and free beach, It was about a hours drive from Savannah and well worth the trip. The drive down Hilton Parkway was a sight. There is a Wal-Mart, Dollar Tree and Dollar General for beach food and items on the way to the beach. The sand is very fine and very difficult to get off skin. The water was clear and clean. There are chairs and umbrellas to rent. On the day we went a couple who were leaving gave us their hairs and umbrellas, so I'm not sure of the cost to rent. The chairs were old and very difficult to move through the sand. The beach has an area with swings and play equipment for the kids. The main thing I loved about the beach, they have plastic walk ways to the beach. The walkway makes getting to the beach a lot easier than trying to walk through the sand. There are places to grab a quick bite before entering the beach. We will visit this beach again.

Cologny is a beautiful, wide beach with great facilities (bathrooms, showers, changing). Lots of restaurants and shops nearby.

However, when we went it was packed with maskless beach-goers. Just seemed like a covid hot spot ready to happen.

Definitely a great place to watch a sunrise!

It can be pretty crowded during the summer months, so make sure you're up before everybody else. Honestly, after that, it's pretty smooth sailing.

Coligny Beach is very accessible, clean, and is a beautiful beach. It is located next to shopping and restaurants and has very nice public restrooms. The parking is a bit tricky if you miss the designated public parking lot. There is only one sign that directs you to the parking lot. There are shuttles that will take you to your car or close to your vehicle at the pick up spot at the entrance to the beach. The beach has a nice outdoor shower to get the sand off your feet and legs.

Very busy but enjoyed it!! Definitely would come back to this beach again. Everyone we encountered there was friendly. We even saw a very small shark which was cool. And a word to the wise…even if you are under an umbrella you will probably get sunburned.

Bathrooms, showers, dressing rooms lifeguards and free parking everything needed for a perfect day at the beach! Waves are not real big si great for younger kids. You still have to watch for riptides..
The have chairs and umbrellas set up for rent or you bring your own...There shops in the area as well...

A great spot with SO many options: beach, splash park, shopping, restaurants, even a grocery store!! Within walking distance of public parking or the many nearby lodging accommodations.

The sand on Coligny Beach is like powered sugar ... you can't get much better. The parking lot is a bit of a walk from the beach, so plan accordingly ... maybe drop the family off with the stuff while you park. The beach is guarded and there are "facilities" located at the entrance.

While the ocean was warm and tranquil without many waves (a pleasant change from Cape May, NJ), the beach was too crowded. It just didn't feel relaxing. As the tide came up, we were squished even more. Not the beach for us.

We had an awesome time with our pup. Would bring family and friends here any time. The sunrise is spectacular!

This is the hub of the island. Too busy for me, it's like being at the State Fair in this area. The beach is over crowded and dogs are allowed on the beach. Too bad dog owners are pigs that leave their dog crap...... very sad. there should be no dog allowed on the beach for that reason alone. DISGUSTING!

Nice thing was the music at the beach bar. Food there as awful as well as the drinks.

The fountain and area for seating before the beach were very thoughtful. Especially liked the matted area for washing your legs after the beach. Mats to the sand was also good. beach was relatively empty when we went.

Free parking! Dog friendly (on leash)- there are restrictions certain times of the year. We had a nice time walking the beach with our little dog and letting him visit with new two- and four- legged friends. It is a nice place for families and there are beach chairs with umbrellas for rent. It was also great to have access to shower, restrooms and changing rooms.

Just had 1 day to spend on Hilton Head and spent the majority at Coligny! Free parking across the street (a tad tricky to find, we drove past it once). Pleasantly surprised no fee for parkng nor to get on the beach. Beautiful wide and large beach. Definitely had crowds but the beach is so large it really wasnt an issue. We hit the tides just right but do check b/c at high tide seems likes the beach does get smaller! Sand is nice and compact and the water warm compared to what we are used to in the New England area! There were a lot of jelly fish washed up on shore. Not sure if you swim if it was a problem. We rented 2 beach chairs and and an umbrella for $44 which while was pricey worked out well for us. There is a nice boardwalk with outdoor (enclosed) changing area, place to wash off your feet and bathrooms not bad. I was surprised no snack stands though with the the exception of 1 Kona Ice truck. A nice beach, you cant go wrong!

Great place for shopping & dining. Worth a visit while you’re in HH to grab souvenirs or something unique (gem stone store) or icecream (frozen moo!). Does get crowded and parking is a pain in peak times.

The beach itself was nice and the beach service was great, however you couldn’t get into the water there were so many jellyfish stings. Everyone few minutes someone was screaming because they had been stung. Eventually no one was in the water. Not a great experience at all.

Large and clean beach. Easy and fee parking in the beach lot across the street. Restrooms, nearby restaurants , showers and foot wash.

While I have stayed in Hilton Head in the past, this was the first trip that was primarily a family summer vacation with an emphasis on the beach. It was a great week and we absolutely loved Coligny Beach. Some of the portions of the beach with public access appeared crowded, but we rented a condo for the week with private access and could not have been happier. Beautiful beach with calm, warm ocean waters. Definitely recommend visiting.

Coligny Beach in Hilton Head is very peaceful and centrally located. An added bonus during this trip was the Oyster Festival that was going on at the park, across from the beach, complete with live music, food and friendly people. Great day at Coligny Beach.

Very beautiful. My 1st time coming to this beach. I really enjoyed. Very relaxing. Definitely want to bring my kids next visit.

We’ve been coming here for over 30 years. We’ve always enjoyed the experience. Still a nice beach but getting too crowded.

Too many humans, too much noise, beach is dirty, too much traffic, too much rudeness. Blowing horns, and don’t pay attention to the normal crosswalk signals, you’ll get run over by a big black Dodge truck! Not my kind of beach. Would not recommend this stop.

Coligny Beach is a beautiful white sand beach. The sand is hard pack close to shore which makes walking very enjoyable. The beach itself had clean restrooms, showers to rinse and changing areas. Parking was ample with no cost to do so. There is a walking mat to the water that makes it easy for those that may experience difficulty walking in sand and a manned lifeguard station.

I love coming here when I visit HHI. Great shops and beautiful view of the ocean. On a nice day, it is fun to walk around outside.

We come to this beach every time we visit. This is usually the most crowded. However, it is located to a lot of shops and restaurants, and has convenient free parking.

This is our third visit to Cologne Beach on the last six months. Well maintained beach near great bike paths and shopping. The stores in the area are excellent

We come to the resort right next door every year with beach access. We usually end up just walking for the sunrise or sunset which is nice. Not crowded at those times. The rare times we do come and park just for the beach is usually hectic but we find a spot. The bathrooms and changing rooms are a bit messy but it’s a beach what do you expect. Overall it’s a nice place to visit but not my favorite beach but it’s close by.

I’ve been to Hilton head before and loved the beach. It’s clean. Showers. Swings instead of beaches and right across the street is a plaza with restaurants and shops. Best in Hilton head

The entire area of Coligny Beach is very clean and well kept! I love the shower areas for rinsing after a lovely day at the beach. The life guards are very attentive and during this trip we had to get out of the ocean a few times due to sightings of a shark. The mats are also a very nice touch for visitiors as they enter and exit the beach. We parked in the FREE public beach parking, which was about 1 block away. There is a small parking lot for handicap accessiblity, which is in front of a few shops on the same side as the ocean; also a very nice touch. The island is well-maintained. We enjoyed a beautiful day at the beach as we met several travelers from around the world. The water is not clear like Florida beaches, but it's a very pleasant with very little seaweed!

Beautiful beach. This time of the year it was too cold to swim but we walked in the water. Nice facilities for rinsing off & even a covered mat to walk from the car to the sand. Amazing.

This is a nice place to go after getting an ice cream from Coligny Plaza. There are swings to sit and swing on. It is very peaceful and recommend. We will definitely come back again.

Very clean, very quiet beach.
One of the best places to watch the waves at night or in the early morning.

A great beach with plenty of parking. Just entering the beach is a joy with people enjoying the park benches and swings as you enter. We rode our bikes daily along the beach. Busy place but not overly so.

The water was warm and it was a great experience. Lots of restaurant choices. We really enjoyed the Sage Room. The steak there was perfect. The one thing we didn't like is that they don't let you bike into Sea Pines anymore, we wanted to dine at The Salty Dog and buy some shirts, etc. without paying the ransom fee.

The main public beach in HHI- well groomed, young kids will LOVE the water fountains in front and a short bike, ample parking. Can't go wrong here.

Even though it was cold and windy it was easy to see what a very nice beach access there is a Coligny Beach. From the walkway, the showers, chairs and swings, handicap access matting across the beach and just the amazing cleanliness of the beach made the experience exceptional.

Have been to the beach twice a day since arriving in Hilton Head, it’s an amazing spot.
You an ride your bike for miles and at this time of year you never feel crowded.
Our dog likes the freedom of the beach and as soon he knows we’re getting close his excitement level goes thru the roof.
The parks and restaurants in this area are amazing.

Love Hilton Head! This time of year not super busy. Beautiful beach💕we come here often as a short get away from home. Live the mat that goes almost to waters edge that makes it possible for older people and the handicap folks. VERY NICE!!!

This was one of the bigger beaches I have been to. The beach is long and wide. The sand is really hard and dark. Not the most comfortable to walk on. The nice part about the beach is that because of its size you don’t feel like you are right on top of each other. The have bathrooms, changing areas and showers. No real restaurants near the beach so plan accordingly

Great place to get to the beach on. I was staying nearby (within a mile) so I could walk the beach, down to the coligny area, walk up for coffee or breakfast, after enjoying the sunrise. The area leading to the beach has porch swings and rocking chairs, also noticed a place to rinse off your feet. It was easy to spread out a blanket anywhere on the beach... anything goes! safe and comfortable and clean! There is a place for parking to go to the beach. Easy to get to the myriad of shops at coligny plaza! Bring a tote bag. I would suggest riding your bike. Many signs say "no beach parking." Street parking available.

Beautiful flat beach with bathrooms nearby and outdoor showers to wash off sand from bodies and chairs, etc. Great for kids with shallow water, easy waves and tidal pools. Great for sunrises. However, it can get crowded and loud, so be prepared to walk a little north if you want a little more quiet.

Lots of families, a few dogs on leashes having a ball in the water and playing fetch. Outdoor rinse showers, changing rooms, nearby restrooms and comfortable swings.

Beautiful but not my favorite on the island. Way too many people out here. There are other beaches just as pretty with less people

This is a beautiful beach with fine powdery sand. There is plenty of free parking across the way and a nice park like area with bathrooms, changing rooms, a place to wash the sand off your feet and some nice swings to sit and relax and enjoy some nice breezes. We walked along the water for quite a distance and it was just so pleasant. The water is calm and very shallow so if you have young children it is a great place for them to enjoy the beach safely.

The beach is spacious and is kept clean. Overall, the experience reminded us of beaches in Florida or California. Overall, this was a much more upscale experience than what we had previously at Myrtle Beach in South Carolina for example.

Clean sand and very nice amenities. There are restrooms, changing huts, and swinging benches to relax on when you are finished swimming.

We really liked this beach. Most of the sand is flattened by the high tide, so it is very easy to walk or job on it. There is a vendor that will rent you two chairs with an umbrella for 40/day. They open as early as 9 am if you choose to take advantage of this.

Because the area has shops and places to eat, this area and beach are extremely crowded. There's free parking but it's a bit of a walk to get from the lot to the beach, so bring a wagon or cart if you have a heavy bag or cooler. After spending just one afternoon, we opted for other beaches for the rest of our stay.

This beach is simply beautiful. We had our family reunion here and had an opportunity to visit this beach. Service was good. This beach is well maintained.

We loved Coligny Beach. Very clean. The parking lot for the beach was quite nice and spacious. (We were there on a Friday afternoon.) The area heading to the beach was quite nice with trees, swings, and relaxing chairs. The restrooms and showers were clean.

Love HHI. This is the best beach in the area. If you have kids it’s close to restaurants and shops. There is something for everyone

I love the sand mats that lead you from the front of the beach to the actual beach. Makes it a lot easier to walk on the sand!

Great location on the island. Easy to find, ample parking, and really clean beach area. Nice walking areas with some light shopping and decent eats and sweets in the Coligny beach area. The town keeps this beach spotless and it’s always pleasant to visit.

Overall it was ok was crowded but manageable. We were there around dinner time so most of the restaurants had 30 -45 minute wait times. I did like the beer tent so you could at least get a beer and walk around some of the shops. Definitely worth a quick walk though and maybe pick up some t-shirts or souvenirs

I was raised in the Caribbean so I confess that I'm a bit of a beach critic. The sand at Coligny was very soft and clean. The water was very warm. This beach was very crowded but you still were able to find a spot to relax. Beach chairs and umbrellas were sold out by the time we arrived. Parking looked nightmarish. If you have the opportunity to take a shuttle or Uber, I highly recommend it. I would recommend and plan to visit again.

Can someone explain to me the draw to the Atlantic Ocean? This wasn’t my first time on the east coast. My fiancé loves the scenery here and I have tried to like it. But the water is BROWN. Brown. The sand is brown. Just not my cup of tea.

Great beach. 1st time ever biking on a beach. Nearby hotel & plaza make this beach an easy focal point.

I can’t fault the beach for it being a bit chilly and super windy, but it was. This is a well maintained beach and I really appreciate the firm and natural-feeling sand. We’ve only been to HHI in the off season, but we’ve been very impressed with how clean this beach is and especially how low key and relaxing it is!

Conveniently located by shops, restaurants and a public parking lot. The beach was clean and wide. Plenty of room for patrons to spread out to enjoy the sand and water. The beach has a nice long mat to make it easy to walk onto the beach with all your beach gear. Prior to the entrance there are restrooms, changing rooms, showers, porch swings and a play area. All the Amenities needed to make for an enjoyable beach day.

This is the most popular beach on the Island and it is the biggest. On the best beach days it gets crowded, but there is always room for everyone. The water is great and there is always a breeze to keep you cool in the water...but on the shore you can get sunburned in a hurry!

I love Coligny Beach. I always enter away from the main entry. That’s where all the “I want to be seen” folk hang out. Peaceful. Kid friendly.

A few years ago they put mats for people to walk on that takes you all the way to the hard sand. This is wonderful for people with carts, bikes, or other things that you roll. Our friend had a badly twisted ankle this trip, so we used Coligny Beach to easily get our bikes onto the hard sand for riding.

Coligny Beach is large and wide and even when there are lots of people on the beach is not crowded. Rip tides and undertow were tricky while we were there but water was great and we enjoyed it every day.

The spot on Hilton Head. Restaurants, shops, live music. This is the main spot on Hilton Head if you want a little more than golf and beach.

The beach is very clean and parking was plentiful…but it was January…..the nearby shopping and dining area had a lot to offer.

Very nice beach with white sand. Clear blue water with calm waves. Nice relaxing place to enjoy. At the entrance of beach, there’s water fountain for the kids to play. There are bathrooms and changing stations. Nice comfortable swings to enjoy people watching. There are rental chairs and umbrella available at the beach.

Coligny Beach was beautiful. The sand was soft for miles of walking, but also hard packed along the shore, which makes it great for bike riding. A lot of people bring their dogs to play on the beach. Plenty of space to spread out and enjoy morning or evening walks or to spend a great day.

When we arrived, and saw the beach we were amazed how clean and stunning that beach was. Dolphins jumping in the waves , sunsets, people walking and relaxing- just wonderful place!

We really enjoyed this beach. (As beaches in the US go). We came during the late afternoon two days after Labor Day, so it wasn't crowded. It was clean, with a nice "walking path mat" to aid those with disabilities, that stretched nearly to the water. As others have mentioned. Fountains for rinsing, bathrooms, parking (across the round-about). This was only like a 10-12 minute walk from our rented condo, or only three minute walk from parking lot. We didn't rent any chairs/umbrellas, so i can't speak to that. Dogs allowed, but check for time restrictions largely dependent on time of year.

This is a unique beach. Beautiful, relaxing, not over crowded. Many places around to eat, shop or get ice cream.

Nice public facilities at this entrance at the beach. Restrooms, private changing booths, washing stations to get the sand off of your feed, body, and head if you want. Pleasant sitting areas with porch swings.

Avoid at all costs on the weekend. Crowded and people are pigs. Leaving trash all over the beach. Watch where you walk. Kids dig holes and do not fill them back in upon leaving the beach creating a danger for people walking.

The beach is free and beautiful. Has all the basic amenities. Ample parking. Restaurants and shopping areas are nearby. We enjoy the swing benches along the path leading to the beach.

Great Beach ! Sugary sand; refreshing water; lifeguards; chairs and umbrellas for rent and showers; footbaths; changing rooms and even swings in covered areas. The undertow can be a bit intense but children shouldn't be swimming unattended anyway. Free Parking is a breeze; at least in early September. You couldn't ask for more.

long, clean, and well patrolled. Lifeguards are scattered throughout the beach area and available to assist as needed. Bring your own goodies as the nearby restaurants are a bit pricey. Overall highly recommended pet friendly beach!

The beaches on Hilton Head are amazing: expansive, clean, with packed sand perfect for walking and riding bikes, and seemingly endless. We visited off-season, so the beaches weren’t crowded either. The Coligny Beach Park is full-service with restrooms, showers, and changing rooms. We walked here from Waterside by Spinnaker, but parking is also available. As far as riding bikes on the beach: it’s a beautiful ride with the wind at your back. The return ride with the wind in your face is quite a workout! One other word of caution: from the beach it’s quite difficult to determine which properties are gated. We found ourselves stuck inside a community and had to retrace our beach tracks.

Even in May this beach was crowded with sun and surf fans. It is clean and waves are not intimidating. Dogs are allowed only with responsible owners. The entry area has shops, restaurants and showers. Parking is free but fills up fast. There are also shuttles available.

Probably the most popular beach on Hilton Head Island. As a result it has the most facilities, stores and restaurants but also the biggest crowds. A great beach but travel at your own risk.

I've gone to many beaches all over the world and Coligny was perfect for my family (kids ages 1 and 3). We also saw young families and ones with teenagers. We recently went in late April. Great time of year to go with not too much crowd. There's lots of tide pools and starfish that make it on shore. My favorite part is their facilities. The bathrooms were well kept and even had changing stations near the beach. Highly recommend!

best time to go was early morning or at sunset, and it was not as crowded. three years ago it didn't seem to be as crowded as it has become now. HHI is becoming a hot tourist spot i guess. its still a nice clean beach. love it better than Myrtle Beach.

This is a great place to go to watch the sun rise. The parking is convenient and the beach is beautiful.

Great stores and prices. Love the Piggly Wigly. Restaurants are magnificent and always have Rita’s Ice cream.

Coligny Beach is an excellent public beach. Great for long walks, bike rides, bocce ball and people watching. Convenient parking. Nice walkways with bathrooms, showers, changing areas and decks to gather on. Easy walk to shopping and entertainment.

We went to Easter sunrise service on Coligny Beach. The service was good and the sunrise was beautiful. This is a good beach to take a walk on.

I honestly thought I would not love this beach as everything I read said it was the most busy/touristy beach on Hilton Head. That is likely true, but we didn't experience anything too crazy busy, and it was a beautiful beach with great amenities! We visited it twice during our recent trip and the second time I found a live starfish first thing in the morning. We also saw dolphins out deep in the water while swimming, which was pretty special!

Beautiful beach. Heard about the jellyfish but didn’t see anything. DID see a stingray in shallow waters but that’s to be expected. Nice and warm-plenty of lifeguards. Go early and leave at lunch, gets mighty crowded.

Coligny Beach was a short stop between Charleston and Savannah. The swings, beach walk and restrooms are the nicest I have ever seen at a public beach. That being said, the Hilton Head visitor site made it seem the restaurants and shops were very close. They are not really adjacent to to beach at all. I envisioned a quick lunch or ice cream within yards. Nope, just condos.

The beach is lovely. The area was clean and the sand was white. The restroom was well kept. It's a great place to visit.

I had a great day with my friends and family at this beach today. Played in the water, went to the tiki hut, and made sandcastles. It really was a perfect beach day.

The positives: the beach sand is soft and powdery and the water temp is equivalent to bath water!! The negatives: the water is super murky like a lake and the jelly fish are stinging like crazy even in knee deep water!!

The beach is super flat, making it easy to walk or ride your bike on. The waves were also incredibly calm. The beach can get quite busy, but makes sense given how nice it is.

The beach is beautiful, but August is apparently jellyfish season. I didn't know that before booking my trip. Many people got stung (myself included) while we were there.

We enjoy going to Coligny Beach. The beach is wide and has a lot of room for sunbathers and swimmers. Very clean and the water is nice! There are showers and changing rooms. Many swings to enjoy the passerbyers. There is a ground fountain for kids to play in. Many beach shops and places to get a snack.

Coligny is a great beach. Close to shops and food, the sand and water is typical HHI-perfect. Bathrooms close as is kiddy splash pad.

There are a lot of restaurants and shops. Some dining places only serve breakfast and lunch but you will find something for everyone. The prices are generally average.

Beautiful sunrises, & dolphin sightings quite frequently from the beach. Nice place to kick back & relax from everyday hassles, the only downside is the lack of care, & work ethic that some of the shore beach services personnel have demonstrated over the past couple of years. Highly suggest not to rent beach chairs, they are unclean, like they have just dug them out of the sand. Rental services use to take pride in what they do, not so much anymore.
Overall though; Coligny beach is a nice spot for relaxing, & enjoying ocean activities.

My two teens, our dog and I spent several hours at this beach. The beach was clean, people were friendly, life guard on duty, nice restrooms and facilities, showers and sand wash areas available. All around great beach.
