Our family did not stay at the Hotel Del Coronado, but we wanted to experience the atmosphere and the beautiful beach. We were able to rent chairs (wood and cloth) and umbrellas, and they set them up for us when we arrived. (See the Hotel Del Coronado website to reserve.) Gold is definitely added to the sand, so the beach is absolutely breathtaking. Non-hotel guests can park in the garage for a fee. The elevator from the garage goes straight to the short walkway to the beach. We purchased food at the resort and received a parking discount. Every employee was geared to make visitors feel welcome. Sand artists were working on some phenomenal sand castles. The age spread of our group was wide, and we all enjoyed watching that process. It was a wonderful day!

During our 2 day stay at the Hotel Del, we walked the beach regularly and enjoyed the water views immensely. Two large cruise ships were offshore quite a ways while their crews were waiting to finish out a long quarantine and return home. Just a constant reminder that this Covid mess is still not over.
It was really too cold in February for any meaningful beach time but the fire pits, brisk walks, and beautiful scenery still made for a really pleasant trip. We walked all the way down to the military barricade at the end of the beach (passing Dog Beach on our way). We figured it is at least a mile (maybe one and a half?) from one end of the beach to the other.
Beautiful beach!

Well… it’s a beautiful sandy beach with a large hotel behind it like in La Baule…
And red flag… because water is polluted by rainwater which causes wastewater to overflow on the Mexican side in Tijuana. I guess it's better in summer

This beach is everything you want a California beach to be. There are lovely views, lots of shells and clams to look at, and it's very pleasant to walk it or just sit down somewhere on the vast amount of sand and enjoy some quiet time. The rocks near the Hotel del Coronado feature lots of anemones and crabs.

I took a stroll across this large beach at the beginning of April so it wasn't warm enough for the water but still very nice. The sand DOES sparkle, many reviewers have said that and it's true. The sand was soft and the beach is very large with a lot of real estate for playing, suntanning, etc. I would definitely return during warmer weather.

This is a great beach to spend the day on or for a good walk. Parking is mostly street parking and restaurants are limited along the beach but otherwise a really nice place to spend an afternoon.

We started out at the ICE HOUSE and was given a mini tour by Betty. (GREAT) then we proceeded (total about 1 1/2 hour tour. Betty was very informative with the history of the Coronado Hotel. The many movies made there, the expansion and owners through the years. Got to see the dragon tree and the history behind it. The price of the tour was well worth it because was nice, polite and very informative during the entire time.

Probably most clean and one of the most beautiful places in California. No homeless people ( i haven’t seen one), clean beach, beautiful views and clean streets.

Having lived many years in Imperial Beach before moving to the Pacific NW *now back again to live once again in San Diego, I know Coronado Beach VERY well indeed!
I was but a teenager when my Dad was in U.D.T. 12 "Frogmen" before they were called "SEALS" and he was THE "Chief Bosn's Mate E9" *retired after 35 years. I watched
from the street of this beach area as Daddy would put the "Tadpoles" through their
paces for HELL WEEK. I doubt they thought at that time the beach was so "lovely" ;)
But lovely it is, clean and beautiful, albeit the water is usually cold, one can not ask for perfection in every aspect, n'est pas? Walking this beach is great exercise for both mind and spirit.

What a beach! great sand, both soft and hard for walking. The views are are spectacular from Mexico to Point Loma. Just a great place to take the family and enjoy the day or just a perfect place to take a walk either in the morning or sunset!

Broader beach with plenty of seating options right in front of Hotel del Coronado. Perfect spot to see sunset, but there was a big clod right close to the water when the sun set on the day we went. The hotel del Coronado is architecturally stunning and to view that while strolling on the sand is quite a feel. My son enjoyed building a sand volcano.

Great beach to walk on with a wonderful view of "The Del". No one swimming this time of year except for the few surfers at the north end of the beach.

Very beautiful pristine beach. Parking is always an issue here so be prepared to walk quite a ways. Located right near the Hotel Del.

The day we visited, the weather was cool cloudy and the water was COLD. Not ideal weather conditions for the beach, but we had a great time!
We came close to low tide so we were able to see mini- tide pools by the rocks in front of Hotel Del Coronado. The beach was clean, wide open, easy to access, and had nice easy waves.
The beach really does look like it has gold flecks or glitter in it! We didn’t stay long due to weather, but I’m glad we visited!

One of the best West Coast beaches. Very wide, sandy and clean and what is quite unique in California there is not a busy and noisy road „border” separating it from the rest of the city.

A great beach with lots going on. The beach was very clean and tidy. There's a nice walk right along the beach with great views and many cafes and bars to stop at if you want to

What a beautiful beach to take in while in San Diego.. Powdery white sand with flecks of gold. It was a popular spot. Walk around the Del Coronado Hotel with its majestic beauty and history. Next time we visit San Diego, I'll book a place on this beach. The weather is perfect in San Diego!

Beautiful, great place to relax, clean sand and lots of seashells. Nice, wealthy neighbourhood and good places to eat

We stayed at Hotel Del, and visited beach daily. Staff on beach and cleaned beach every day was just amazing. I loved the goldish flecks of granite in the water, so pretty!

Love the beach. Great for walking, playing and there are even some spots for beginner surfers. I love live music at the beach and the taco shack is amazing.

I have been coming here for years and love it. It is a family friendly beach that is great for couples as well. You can rent chairs and an umbrella and enjoy the day. They have great food options as well.

Mission is way kore fun with the boardwalk and such. The dog area is kinda fun to walk on even without a dog.

Clean and accessible beach! My family really enjoyed the beach with restrooms and no trash on the ground. The weather was perfect so even better!

Took the family on July 4 to the beach. Fantastic weather and a big thumbs-up to the Coronado police who were patrolling the beach and giving out masks. They were really polite but encouraged everyone to wear masks if walking the beach among people. This is how we’ll beat COVID-19...with nice encouragement and good participation. Let’s keep the beach open!

If I had to name a perfect beach, this would be one of the top contenders. It is beautiful, soft white sand, so clean, and blue waves. It is charming and sophisticated for a beach.

Coronando is a very beautiful area of Southern California and the beach is very pretty and coronando bridge is also very cool my favorite part was probably the beach.

Our #1 pick of public beaches in California especially right in front of the Hotel Del Coronado. The area is expansive and even on a busy holiday weekend, we never felt crowded. Great waves for boogie boarding. Chairs and umbrellas are available for all day rental if you are a hotel guest but it’s pricey. We witnessed the lifeguards warning folks to stay away from the rock getty because of possible stingray bites.

I'm not a fan of cold water, so this is not the beach for me, other than taking a nice stroll along it in the mornings, or for this one especially, the sunsets.
Access is not wonderful if you are not staying nearby, public parking is limited.
As an added bonus, you can walk south and get to the Navy SEAL's training ground where you will be stopped by armed guards.

This is our go to place to tour our visitors especially when they are first timers visiting San Diego. We usually take them on a car ride then take them for a longer visit the next day.

Just came back from a trip in SD with our kids (5 &7). Prior to this trip we had been to La Jolla shores, Mission beach and pacific beach. The vibe around Coronado and the town, is awesome. Also can explore the old Coronado hotel and walk the board walk.
The atmosphere is better for those with families or those seeking quieter alternatives to mission and pacific beaches. The sand is nice and soft and barely any seaweed. The beach goes for miles each way. The kids had a blast and we are glad we decided to explore Coronado. Of the beaches in SD, this one is my favorite!

SEWAGE. EWWWWWWWW
Wow, just a breathtakingly beautiful beach and area — especially a lovely, glowing sandy beach for SoCal. Unfortunately, due to sewage the beach is accessible BUT you cannot get in the water. So sad! Our earth is a mess these days. Very disappointing, and YUCK. Wish this could be fixed.

Coronado Beach is iconic, and just taking it in is worthwhile, but if the water is too dirty for swimming or you want a unique activity, look up the Sandcastle Man, Bill Pavlacka. Our family of five took a sandcastle building lesson from him and it was so much fun! Bill was really patient and showed us all kinds of techniques and tools for upping our sand building game. He also helped make sure that my in-laws who were hanging out and watching had enough shade. It was a super cool way to enjoy the beach.

I have some favorite USA beaches and this one just became my all time fav. Great Sand and it runs forever!

Had a great day the beach. It was relaxing and enjoyed a peaceful day at the beach. We were celebrating our anniversary.

If you're looking for a beautiful beach setting, this might not be your choice. This stretch of beach is on the island just across the bridge from downtown San Diego. It's a public beach, but is dwarfed by the rather tacky Hotel del Coronado. Also, the beach is buffered by a couple of military installations. Careful not to park in the hotel lot unless you're staying there and know about the fees. But there usually is street parking available along or near Ocean Blvd. The hotel has some al fresco bars and restaurants for you to choose from and you can stay for the sunset, particularly good with high clouds. I think the locals like to drive a bit south to the less impacted Silver Strand Beach. But you can walk that direction from Coronado if you like. For me, I'd rather hang out across the harbor at Point Loma.

A typical American beach, it is said to be one of the most beautiful beaches in America. Not usable during the winter because with rough seas apart from the serfists who have fun among the big horses. You always park for a fee. Small premises and well-kept houses.

I have always wanted to go here. Alot of history is shown in pictures on the walls. I felt like I was in the era of the place; 30's, 40's, 50's+ . The detailed of the hotel was beautiful. We ate lunch on the terrace and soaked in the sunny beach. The gold sparkled in the sand. So worth the trip. Wish I could have stayed longer, better yet, could afford to stay here.

Great and easy time taking the Ferry over to Coronado Island from the San Diego Convention Center on Harbour Drive's Ferry port. If you just want to get a quick trip,
(15 minutes) over to the Coronado Island to start having some fun, this is the location where you want to catch your Ferry. We found the scenery and the trip over to be
very enjoyable.
$ 9 each way, so good! Runs every half hour between
9am and 10 pm.

Coronado it’s a great small town, streets and beaches are super clean, we spent the evening and night and the marina the 4th of July fireworks started exactly at 9 pm the where spectacular definitely we will be back next year

This public beach is huge, clean, family-friendly and beautiful. I didn’t expect it to be so clean. The neighborhood is also very nice and there is street parking all along the beach.

This is a beautiful place to go. We met people from all walks of life and they were great. I highly recommend.

Pretty beach that is kept quite clean. Lots of seashells. The tide goes way way out so shell collecting was great. Military bases on either end so walking is limited.

I spent the afternoon walking along Coronado Beach. It was a beautiful sunny day in November and there were plenty of waves, sunbathers, and activities going on. The sand sculptures were very impressive.

very beautiful place and the beach is so peaceful and ocean is so clean.
There are so many nice restaurant too.

What's nice about this beach is there are restrooms, outdoor showers, and fire pits. And, the beaches are kept clean. If you want a fire pit, I'd recommend having someone in the group come early, and bring a book to read. Parking is on the street and free; it does fill up quickly.

My go-to beach when in the SD area. It was a busy place but the kids were still able to boogie board and throw the volleyball around and not run into people. Life guards always about an on alert

I visited here with my friend in November. So lovely, relaxing and so clean. We had a lovely day,put our feets into the ocean and had an amazing day.Should be visited.

My experience was incredible, one of the most heartwarming experiences i had ever had with my family. We walked by a good part of the bay, bougth ice cream sandwiches and the ambient here is wonderful. Truth fully this is what the life should be, being in the beach, with the people you love.
Coronado, November

Coronado Island is the best! Beautiful beach in front of Coronado Del Mar Hotel, but bring your own drinks! $15 for a bottle of beer and $21 for a mixed drink is a bit crazy.

Coronado beach is one of my favorite beaches. Clean, wide, and with the added charm of the historic Del Coronado resort. Great for runners, tan seekers, and anyone who just wants to relax by the water and have a good time.

I suggest you Google "Tijuana Sewage closes Coronado Beach" before you dare go near the water here. Untreated Mexican wastewater flows to the US Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge where it enters the Ocean. They have been trying for years to get the area declared a Superfund site. Also, the SEALS at the US SEAL team training facility just south of the Del are getting ill from being in the water. So, think twice before going near the water. Google it if you want to verify it.

We live about 90 minutes from Coronado Island and we visit it several times a month. It is a bridge away from San Diego but it’s a world all its own. Clean, quiet, safe neighborhoods filled with beautiful, eclectic homes. No two look alike. It takes a LOT OF MONEY to live here but there is no sense of elitism or snobbery. The island welcomes day visitors with open arms. Everywhere is a friendly face in the most charming setting in So Cal. The beach is beautiful and I’ve never seen it overcrowded

Always relaxing, safe for entire family even at night...Close to all San Diego activities. Weather is warm during day/cool at night. Great Coronado camp for kids ages 5-14.

A spacious stretch of sand that makes a journey out to Coronado Island worth it. I didn't get what the big deal about Coronado Island was until we hit the beach. Even on a windy, rainy day it's gorgeous. It was fun to watch the dark clouds take over the horizon.
Watching the sand castle man finish up his work made our visit even better.

The beach is clean and vast! Take your time and stroll on the beach. Walk towards the shore where there are rocks. Take a seat and enjoy the sounds of the waves crashing. Make sure to buy an ice cream and watch the sunset from the hotel. A great way to end the day! I always return to Coronado when visiting SD.

Best beeach in CA. Clean, lots of white, smooth sand. Beautiful, relaxing ambience for peacful walks or nice jog along the ocean water edge. Plan to stay awhile, because you won't want to leave.

This quaint little island is full of beautiful old houses and has a small town vibe. The beach is so beautiful and the sand is as soft as powder. It is my favorite beach to visit when in California!

My family and I are locals, and this is our favorite free beach in San Diego. Clean and spacious, it's maintained by the affluent little City of Coronado. Good for families. not for surfers, who can find much better options farther up the coast. This beautiful beach is kinda boring, but if you're OK with that, then this is your place. People tend to be polite here, but stick to themselves. Bring your own lunch, snacks, water, and gear - no rental stands here. Mornings are best to get on-the-street parking (no lots available) and to avoid crowds later in the day. During the summer, it can be foggy until about mid-morning or so. Also, some people prefer Saturdays and Sundays because the Navy's jets seem to practice only on weekdays. Nice view.

This beach is right outside the room we were staying at Hotel Del Coronado. It is a very clean beach, which says a lot for California, especially when feces are in the open in parts of LA and San Francisco. It is a beach well worth visiting especially because it is comprised mostly of silt and volcanic sand. It is not a "white" beach but it is as white as you can find on the West coast. It is good ocean beach for those who do not want to travel more than a thousand miles to get to a beach. There might be other choices in California, Oregon, or Washington state but it will be colder as you up in latitude.

1st time visitor to the beach here and we were both pleasantly surprised. Sand was nice and soft and the vibe was just fun.

Great stretch of beach to enjoy by yourself or your family. Very clean and safe. There is a section that is "reserved" for Hotel del Coronado guests but the beach is vast, so this isn't a problem.

Great family day at the beach! We traveled over from San Diego while vacationing there. Beautiful views! We enjoyed watching the boats from afar, feeling the crashing waves, and making a family sand castle! My only complaints are the excess seaweed/kelp and the lack of stroller accessibility onto the beach.

Very pleasant beach. Great sunsets. Plenty of room for everyone. Nice for a long stroll along the shore.

Great beach to be enjoyed by everyone. Plenty of street parking and clean, well maintained facilities. Only con was the continuous plane and helicopter traffic going to the Naval Base. Very close to town that had awesome Main Street. Overall highly recommended

Very relaxing and family friendly! The beach is very clean. Our go to beach anytime we go to San Diego.

One of the nicest beach in the San Diego area. The sand at Coronado Beach is so soft and the place is huge so you don't feel like everyone is on top of each other. The surf was pretty gentle on the the day we were there and the kids loved playing in it. There were showers on site so it was nice to get rinsed off before jumping in the car.

Beautiful beach. The sand literally glitters. This was our favourite beach in San Diego and LA. Lots of facilities nearby. The sea is lovely too, we went in July and the temperature was perfect.

We loved watxhing the surfers and playing in the sand. Free close parking was awesome. Great views. Clean beach

There is somethig special about this beach....maybe it is the backdrop of The Del Hotel, or maybe it is the glittery sand....but it is magical.
The beach itself wasn't very crowded (but we were there in February), and we enjoyed walking along the beach and on the rocks. We found a few seashells and even a whole sand dollar.

Beautiful beach, nice facilities (restrooms, showers), great sand and view! The sunset was amazing! Quiet and peaceful.

We enjoyed several visits to Coronado beach during our recent vacation to the area with toddler age children. This is a fabulous beach that was immaculately clean & maintained each time we visited. I would recommend entering the beach near the intersection of Ocean and Alameda Blvd. There is street parking only unfortunately - but at this entrance there is a nice pavilion with snacks & bathrooms, not to mention a paved walkway on the beach. This paved walkway will come in handy if you have strollers, wheelchairs, or rolling carts full of beach supplies.

I loved this beach, we got decent parking for a Saturday. The sand appeared to have gold flecks it was really pretty. The sand was soft, ocean was perfect for the kids to play in, we had a great time.

This is a very nice, clean beach. It can be noisy at times with the planes and helicopters flying above. Water is pretty calm, no large waves.
Nice and peaceful!

Being at the beach with two toddlers can be difficult. But this beach offered great bathrooms, conveniently located, and a ramp to push wheelchairs or strollers down onto the sandy beach!
Of all the beaches we visited in San Diego, I enjoyed this one the most!
And being sensitive to all, this beach had no homeless hanging out or in the bathrooms, that made me much less anxious with toddlers running about.
I had worried a bit at other beaches, due to the number of homeless ( possible used needles, strong smells, etc). But Coronado is clean, and well kept.

This beach is my favorite. There is always room for everyone and there is no other beach like it in Southern California. It's deep from street to shore and the sand is soft and plentiful. A must see when visiting San Diego.

We had a dinner picnic here. Watched the sunset and then enjoyed the beautiful Hotel del Coronado lit up at night.

We decided to go to Coronado Beach at the suggestion of our hotel clerk. It is definitely less crowded than Mission Beach and more family oriented; we even saw dolphins! There does seem to be an excess of seaweed, but it's a small price to pay for such a great day at the beach. We got there early (around 7:30 am) and I'm glad we did, because there seemed to be no real good parking except for on the street so we got a good spot. When we left about 4 pm there were a lot of vehicles circling, looking for a spot.

I have never seen a beach that has sparkling sand. Go up to the edge and look at the water lapping the beach on a sunny day, it looks like tiny flecks of gold everywhere. It is a beautiful beach!

A special place for us , we were engaged here ! Sandy dunes and the beautiful Pacific . Mostly locals and the " in the know " San Dieagans " who avoid the touristy spots. Small Mom and Pop shops sell the required beach fare , sunscreen , hats , towels and refreshments so stock up and enjoy some peaceful sun fun. Ample street parking.

The pros: the beach is beautiful. The sunsets were incredible. The hotel itself is lovely. The amenity's were nice. The staff was extraordinary. Really the people that work here are amazing. Our waiter at the Sun Deck was so nice and helpful that he should be considered for management. Loved sitting in the sun at tables.
Fun coffee shop and ice cream place (popsicle was 9 dollars but really good) Three scoops of ice cream ran $12. It is a fun stop for a treat ( they make a popsicle an experience).
The Sun deck was our favorite restaurant and the soups were really good. Eno market and pizza were also good. Sheer water was average.
The mixed. The room. We were in room 3220. This was a larger room with two beds and a pull out sofa AND TWO bathrooms (one really small but really two bathrooms - can I say it again 2 bathrooms). Such a great thing with two girls. The con was our view was of the garbage ( and you could hear it till midnight). It worked for us and kept bathroom issues at bay. It was a sun filled room and we were not in the room that much. For us a fair trade.
Thanksgiving weekend: Can you say crowds. Wall to wall people. Lots of families. Lots of adorable dogs. Ice skating was fun (as was surf lesson) but on Saturday there were so many people on the rink we did not even try to skate. It was fun to have fun Christmas cocktails while you watched the sun go down. Unless you want walk to wall people, this is not your weekend.
The cons: Again, we were there for thanksgiving. I do not recommend eating at the Del thanksgiving dinner. You and 7 million of your friends are packed into a convention center. No view - long lines -it is literally a convention center. For three people it was a cost of over 740.00 for three people (we did not drink). Save your money and go to a nice restaurant. It was so bad it was funny. Your food was cold by the time you sit down. Was not special or even ok. They did move people in and out. The staff was great. It has earned a place in the memory trip list because it was expensive and so bad it was funny

Enjoy this beautiful beach - views - clean safe water - and if thirsty the HOTEL DEL is right there to enjoy !!

Coronado Beach is a beautiful beach to walk and take in the sights like Hotel del Coronado as well as the natural beauty of the ocean and Point Loma. Sand is very nice with beautiful breaking waves and waterfowl.

Why does no one mention the dangers lurking under the sand as you walk in the shallows? Beautiful iconic vistas aside this beach is also known for Stingray stings. There is something known as the "Coronado shuffle" that while well known to locals is not shared with unwitting visitors. Apparently as you walk out into the water you should shuffle your feet to alert the Stingrays to clear a path.
Unfortunately I am not a local and found this out after having received an excruciating welcome by the local Stingray community. I thought I had tore an Achilles as the stingrays first hit. Felt like a slap on my ankle that then immediately evolved into waves of intense pain. Limped to a lifeguard station confused and bloody. He immediately recognized me as another Stingray victim and promptly drove me to the first aid station. If this is your idea of a great vacation story then go ahead "F" around and find out.
The lifeguard shared that this is a daily common experience at this beach and sure enough within fifteen minutes of receiving treatment I was joined by another bloody Canadian tourist seeking help. Swim at your own risk and also note the waters here are subject to cleanliness warnings from sewage runoff. This will also greatly increase the likelihood that your sting will become infected. Coronado Island please post warnings as the lifeguard did admit that this is a daily common occurrence with many days totaling over 10 individuals seeking assistance.

Have you seen beach sparkles? Now you have! A Natures beauty! So clean pleasant walk. Definitely a must! Meet a seagulls, sight seeing of a war ship! The view is incredible

We only had one beach day and struggled to choose between Coronado and Mission. We chose Coronado as it's a cleaner nicer beach. Parking can be tought but if you get there by 10:00 a.m. you can park right next to the beach. If only they had the restaurant choices that Mission did.

start by the hotel and walk all the way down (north) the the small dunes for a great day on the beach. he sandy beach near the hotel is absolutely spotless and free of trash - exceedingly rare in California!

awesome place to watch all the aircraft go in and out of the base, With the beautiful beach and hotel del just south

Nice beach with fresh air. Not the best but still good. We stayed at the Hotel Del and walked along the beach each day.

This was one of the highlights of our trip. Beaches with soft sand. Blue Water. No insect bites, free parking on the side of the street. The lifeguards were around. Stayed for about 3 hours. Outside showers were in front of the bathrooms. Unfortunately, the bathrooms, they weren't clean enough to use.

First time seeing a Cali beach and it was all I wanted. I knew it would be cool but that water was cold! November at the beach calls for a sweater in evenings. It was still dreamy. Waves beautiful too. My girls still wore swim suits and didn’t complain but we know they were cold. It was just too fun to stop playing.

had a great day down the beach from here, what a nice clean place to relax, and have a little lunch, build a sand castle and have fun in the ocean. finding shells, we found so many sand dollars, my grandson and I ran up and down the beach, then headed over to check out the Hotel, It has some rich history and the staff were so friendly. the little beach shack had great tacos and beachy drinks, had a guy even playing music, we enjoyed just sittiing and listening to him for awhile too. great place to take pictures. nice clean place.. We will be back someday

The town was quaint and beautiful. But the beaches were closed, and no one bothered to share the information with us prior to our trip. We rented beach chairs at the Hotel Del for a day, and they talked in circles when we asked if the beach was going to be open.

Nice beach with a very large amount of white clean and sandy beach. Not too crowded early on the morning we visited but it probably gets a little busy in the summer on weekends. Very nice beach preceeded by a nice drive over the bridge.

It is truly a beautiful beach. It is so clean, sand is so soft, it was a great place to just sit and relax.

This is a typical California beach. Loads of smelly seaweed. The sand is a beautiful color with black and tan sand and gorgeous golden highlights when the sun is shining on it. Lots of shells scattered across the sand. We were there during the week, while school was in session, so it wasn't overly crowded, but I can imagine that the weekend would be a nightmare. Parking isn't all that great.

We were on four different beaches in the San Diego area and this was the best of the bunch. The water was nice as it rolled in. The beach is large. The sand along the edge of the water sparkles like it has gold flakes in it.
Overall it just was a great beach to spend our last few hours in the area before heading home. We even found a few sea shells while we walked down the beach.

Clean and absolutely gorgeous beach with amazing sunsets at the Hotel del Coronado. Plenty of happy hour seating at outdoor bars to watch the sun go down. Also, you often get a free air show watching the Navy train right off the coast. During this visit, watched Navy helos performing search and rescue ops - never a dull moment!

Great beach! We took Uber over from San Diego and enjoyed the July 4th parade and visited the Coronado Hotel. The beach is great and perfect for long walks. Great place to visit!

Beautiful for long walks or just to sit/lay and enjoy the gorgeous views..... hotel is nearby for a drink or snack whenever you need one. Pricey but convenient.

I love the ocean and always think of it as my calm. This was somewhat of a disappointment. I have always hear California beaches are beautiful. I didn't feel that way. The beach was busy with tractors moving seaweed and sand. The sand was a mixture of tan and black so it looked unclean.

The Beach is always EXCELLENT and fun for couples, families or kids! Great Views of ocean and point loma.

We were able to park for free about 1 block away. There is a nice long paved path heading to the water. The water was ice cold. LOL. Of course I am from Texas and I am used to the warm waters of the Gulf.

Each and every point in San Diego is beautiful. This beach is also one of them. Not very crowded. Long stretch of sparkling beach. we stayed in Marriott and the sea view from the hotel was splendid. walk on the beach, the fresh air is just amazing. a must visit place.

One of my favorite beaches in the world. It's big, beautiful, westward facing (for sunsets), clean, well life-guarded, not too crowded, and accessible to Hotel Del Coronado amenities and the restaurants of Orange Avenue. There's a reason why the houses nearby are some of the most expensive in the world. I hope to afford one some day.

You can take the ferry from San Diego ($10 round trip) and latter the summer free shuttle to go close to Hotel coronado. Great beach, white sand. Possibility to rent chairs ($20) and umbrellas ($30)

Spent Easter weekend at this Beach, not too crowded, very clean, fun things to do nearby or go out on the Boardwalk.

they have chaise lounges and sun shelters to rent. The beach was very big so there was plenty of space to sit and enjoy the sunshine and ocean.

Fine sandy beach with beautiful views and stunning houses along it . This is the must go beach if you staying in San Diego

We love Coronado beach. It's so clean and clear. This is the first time we have come here to visit and not for work. We really enjoyed it

The water literally glitters with gold from the minerals in the rocks. Beware of the seaweed that occasionally becomes a problem. During our week long stay, it was only an issue once.
The beach is wide and the sand is soft. This is a fabulous spot to relax and unwind when visiting San Diego.

The beach offers incredible views of Coronado, Point Loma, the sea and parts of surrounding San Diego.
The morning offered a time when less people were around to enjoy the surroundings. There are well kept facilities and the beach is dragged and prepped for the public.
Whether for part of a morning for a walk or a full day event, this beach is a gem.

We came here as our last beach and wished we had visited earlier. The beach is wide with plenty of space to spread out. The sand is pristine. Definitely a great day at the beach!

A very long stretch of beach where friends families usually go to get together and do many activities, or just enjoy a walk or the sunset .. a well-kept neighborhood with so much vitality and beautiful people!! The photos speak for themselves!!

We are here for Christmas, a lot of people ! Many puppies too. We have been to the hotel 15 years ago. Thought was different impression . But times do fly as well. We enjoyed .

another visit was enjoyed again. I was impressed with how clean the beach is kept. Seaweed cleaned every morning at daybreak. the beach is also raked often do there is no trash to walk over. It is not a white sand beach like in the virgin islands but it is the Pacific after all. The water was cold in early November but ok to go in for a short time.Sunsets were wonderful

It was a little cool but the beach was excellent!! I loved the view and the water, it was the quintessential California beach!!

We came to San Diego with 3 kids for a beach vacation. We wanted to explore several different beaches in San Diego. Coronado beach was absolutely beautiful!!! This was such a clean beach, no one trying to sell us anything, gorgeous sandy beach with great waves for boogie boarding. This was a very relaxing day at the beach. We brought our pop-up, and walked not far from the bathrooms to have our own slice of the beach away from crowds. We were there in JULY! Our teenage kids brought boogie boards and snorkeling gear. They preferred boogie boarding and body surfing in the waves here, not much to look at snorkeling. This was a really long beautiful beach to take walks on and look for shells and sand dollars.
We parked on the street just a block from the beach. We brought a wagon that made hauling all of our stuff much easier. We packed a lunch and drinks so we had no need to leave the little slice of heaven that we set up for the day. There is not a boardwalk with shops and food vendors on this beach. We really just wanted to camp out at the beach for the day and not leave for anything, it was perfect. So incredibly relaxing!
This beach gently gets deeper so it would be a great beach for little kids also. My kids loved that the sand in covered with sparkling gold flakes. It just made the beautiful sandy beach even more magical. We learned later that the gold fleck are really mica.
Compared to Mission Beach (which has a board walk, shops and lots of vendors and is extremely crowded) and La Jolla Cove ( which has a very small beach, no room for pop ups and very crowded) Coronado was by far the most relaxing, least crowded, and pristine beach.

We visited during the latter part of April and it was still a little gray, but definitely worth the visit. The sun made an appearance after we arrived making it warmer and a perfect day for the beach. With the base so close we were able to have a front-row seat to watch the planes as they did practice runs, it was a lot like being at an air show without the cost of the ticket, it made us feel a little like we were watching Top Gun. There is free parking along the street and the beach has easy access.

This is a great beach on the south side of Coronado island. Easy parking on Ocean Ave and you can walk to either the hotel or downtown. Well groomed sand and not overly busy.

Best beach in San Diego. Stay on the northern end for less crowds and easier parking. It’s clean and free of sea weed

It was nice. Lots of wash up on the shore so it was a bit smelly. Other than that it was nice. The sand was clean.

One of the top beaches in San Diego! The beach is wide and deep, never 'shoulder to shoulder'. It's especially festive at Christmas when you can rent beach igloos and fire pits. (See my photos attached to this review). There's also an ice-rink set up besides the beach on the grounds of the Hotel Del Coronado during the holiday season.
There's always a sandcastle man who creates large sandcastles outside the hotel which makes a great photo opportunity. (Donations accepted).
Of course the crown jewel is the Hotel Del Coronado, that is set just back from the sand. You must go in and look around, especially at Christmas when they have a large tree in the lobby. They have restrooms too. :)
Parking is on the street along the beach if you get there early or in the nearby residential areas.
In the past, I've seen mobile restroom units parked nearby. There's also a permanent restroom facility at the beach, just make sure you wear your flip flops when you go in. :)

Beautiful walkable beach. Vendors are a bit pricey, probably owing to the proximity to the Hotel Del.

We stayed at Hotel Del Coronado (read separate review). The best thing about it IMO was the beach. It's clean, big, not overcrowded (even on a weekend), and open to the public. Pretty awesome! Bring beach chairs and an umbrella. Del Coronado wants to charge you $20/chair and $30/umbrella. Bring your own lunch/drinks. Beach service is slow and pricey.
TIP: The Beach Taco Bar has awesome tacos and drinks. Chill music and beach vibes.

Wow.... this is a nice clean beach! Did a day trip to Coronado while visiting San Diego and it such a nice beach a cute little town to walk around! Everything is clean and the sand is super soft! I would definitely recommend coming here while visiting even if it is for the day!

Coronado might be “America’s Best,” but it seemed like a trap. The water was rough and too cold to swim. As lovely as the Victorian and sandy beach allure may be, this is the most prohibitively expensive beach. Del Coronado might rent you a chair for $20 or umbrella for $30 USD. I couldn’t believe for two to recline, it’d cost you $200 USD. Outrageous. Even a meagre bottle of water (not full size) was the equivalent of $7-8 Canadian. The washrooms were not clean enough nor parking plentiful enough—for those who drove the bridge from San Diego—to warrant the expense. I would still recommend here for people with mobility issues. From the Convention Centre near the Marriott, it was easy to catch a ferry. Give yourself plenty of time, as nothing moves quick by the water.

This is not the place you want to come if you are looking for a quiet place to sit and read a book. Instead, it is bustling and fun and loud and boasts a world-Class hotel across the street! Because of the hotel, there are lots of opportunities for food and cocktails and fresh clean bathrooms. It seems it’s totally fine to get a cocktail and stroll around on the beach. Either there are no open alcohol restrictions or everybody’s completely ignoring them.
Because the hotel resort complex is so high-end, there are also opportunities for:
1. bonfires on the beach (you pay for seating and firewood, and there are places to dispose of your hot coals).
2. S’more packages that you buy from a vendor as well
3. Popsicle and other vendors
4. Private Seating for your group in the plastic igloos (again extra charge)
So the entire atmosphere feels festive and fun! We went in December, and the water was certainly swimmable, if not a bit chilly.
Not a big beach for finding shells. Although there are some.
This feels like a real family beach, and not a big party beach, even though people were walking around with open containers!
The waves are not surfable. I suppose some people could try, but this is not a good surfing spot.
The beach is very wide, so if you want to play football or throw a frisbee, it’s an excellent beach for that.
I imagine in the summer that it is really quite packed! Even when we were there in December, it was quite packed. Please note we were there on a festive holiday weekend, and the hotel-resort was really showing off its splendor.

We really enjoyed this beach, the sand is amazing. The water isn’t clear, because of the brown sand. There is also a lot of sea grass in the water.
What I really liked is that the beach is 100% clean.

Just a quick trip to see the area. Beautiful beach and walking area. Parking can be a challenge to find in there during mid-afternoon. Worth the visit.

This beach was SO nice and clean. The sand was soft (although HOT) and even had a shimmer to it. My sister and I visited with my kids (2 and 5) and spent a few hours there. I could have stayed there all day. The water was pretty cold though, and there were seagulls everywhere so if you don't want them getting in your stuff, DON'T bring food! They still tried to get into our bags so you kind of have to guard your stuff. My kids LOVED chasing them, though! Other than that, it wasn't crowded and parking (free, along the road running along the beach) was not bad either!

Get your feet wet, enjoy the island and friendly ambiance of Coronado. Dine and enjoy an adult beverage as the sun sets on the Pacific Ocean..

First time we visited this beach during the kid’s thanksgiving break. What can I say, this beach is simply lovely & family friendly. If you are looking to surf though, this might not be the spot. The calmer water makes it ideal for the little ones to enjoy the water. The beach itself is very clean & the soft white sparkly sand feels good to walk on barefooted. We mainly stayed along the beach near hoteldel coronado for reference. The sunset here is gorgeous!

The views are stunning! We rented two beach chairs and an umbrella and relaxed by the water. We walked along the beach every day. They have done an amazing job building up the beach walk. It’s about 2 miles to the end by the Naval Base from the Hotel Del. Also went to the beach for sunsets. Magical!

Don't forget to go to Coronado Beach when you go to San Diego. You will drive pass a long bridge. This beach sand is gold color, special when the sun shines on the top. The sand is so soft. So comfortable when you walk on the top.

While this beach is beautiful. Please know you have to check sdbeachinfo.com before going. They close the water regularly due to Mexico sewage dumping. So if you're hoping to play in the water check that first. Otherwise it's a great place to play.

Beautiful sandy beach. We were there midweek, off season so it was not crowded at all. A very peaceful place to take a stroll.

We did not have much time but we thoroughly enjoyed spending a couple of hours walking up and down the beach. Ideal spot for beach combers looking for shells or sanddollars. The water has a wonderful gold simmer to it. Plenty of space for everyone and you did not feel crowded at all. Beautiful place to visit only wish we had more time.

Best beaches in the area for all ages. Open space, nearby rental of beach toys. Close food to take to the beach and soak up the sun.

This very expensive resort is quite beautiful, but crowded, lacks adequate facilities, and is located directly in the flight path of low flying military aircraft landing at the base next door. Do not expect the peaceful sound of ocean waves, or relaxation of any kind, as a jet or helicopter is flying 50 feet above you every 25 minutes.

After the disappointment of La Jolla cove, what a pleasure it was to spend a day at Coronado beach. Fantastic wide open spaces with great views of Point Loma and the nearby naval / air base. The town had a lovely feel about it and it is definitely worth visiting the Hotel del Coronado, The Del, if only to walk round and appreciate the history of the place. Well worth a trip over the bridge

You have to options you can take the ferry and stay at the beach overlooking SD skyline or go to the other side of the island for a more pristine beach

Great view for a sunset with a very pleasant and quiet beach. Great places to sit and watch the sunsets. Plenty of room for everyone. Nice for a long stroll along the shore. There were few stores and no homeless people, big clean beach, beautiful views and clean streets.

The beach is beautiful and wide. Not crowded and the sunset view is beautiful. Ocean was very cold in early April!

We stayed on Coronado Island so naturally we visited the beach as soon as we arrived. We went to the beach every day, just to walk and listen to the ocean and search for shells. Beautiful sunsets especially if there are a few clouds in the sky!

Go for the history of the resort and the island. Set expectations that this is not the place to have your quintessential California beach experience.
You will however have unique opportunities to enjoy the creative resort activities offered. These include sand castle sculptures, igloos in the winter with beach chairs and comfort from the wind, and a wide-variety of restaurants, markets and food from the Hotel Del Coronado.

Very large and beautiful beach. I highly recommend renting a bike and taking a ride around the island. This is a quick and easy way to see the Hotel del Coronado, the Coronado bridge, as well as getting a terrific view of downtown San Diego located across the bay. It is a 6 mile ride around the perimeter of the island. I did it in just about 1 hour and 15 minutes which included me stopping to take some pictures. If you get there before noon, you can rent a bike for one hour with an additional hour for free.

even when this beach is so close to the military base sometimes you see flight planes passing by but still its a very nice and quiet place to share a beach soft sand walk throw the sunset time

We walk this beach several nights a week and take our dog to the dog end of the beach. This is regularly named the best family beach in the country by Dr. Beach and you will know why as soon as you come. I grew up in San Diego near La Jolla and those beaches can't even come close! There is so much room here. You will never have people right next to you which is GREAT! You need to walk a bit for food but there is a great range of choices-from Subway to pizza to fine dining at the nearby Hotel Del.

Voted best beach in the USA in 2012 and we could see why. Very wide sandy beach, with plenty of space a with public toilets and showers. Lifeguards monitoring swimmers too.

Go beyond the Del. It’s great watch the sunset and grab a drink but there’s more! Loved seeing the volleyball, families, dogs! Gorgeous ocean and beach!

Loved it! Wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be and everyone is just so happy to be there that it doesn't matter how many people are there. Only had 3 short days. Wish I could've stayed a few more months.

Coronado Beach is really lovely to look at. It is a long walk from the road to the water so expect a little longer on foot if you are heading here. If the sand is hot and it can be, make sure you have appropriate footwear. Sometimes there are sand carvings to be seen and from this place you get a great view of military aircraft coming into land at the naval base.

We visited Coronado Beach numerous times. In a Saturday late afternoon before sunset, we parked car on the Tolita Avenue and walked down to the beach. Having caught a few moments before sunset, we also have taken some afterglow. Coronado Sunset is absolutely breathtaking. We then joined the line waiting for delicious ice cream.

Great beach!! Soft sand. Clean. Great public restrooms. Lifeguards.
Lot's of people and families. On a nice day it is busy, but there is always space.

One of the nicest beaches we have seen in SD, it was quite, large and in a lot of ways atmospheric. We went on a Monday so it was not busy. Lots of shops and restaurants near by and a nice easy walk along the front. Will go again would recommend

We absolutely love Coronado Beach. We feel safe here. It’s mostly tourists walking, taking pics, enjoying the sunset. There’s locals jogging along. It’s a treat to see the Marines jogging in formation. The sights, sounds and smells cannot be matched. The water is cold though.

We have stayed at the Coronado Shores for four years. Most of the residents are over 60 years old.
We are planning to leave ASAP because the Management does not enforce the social distancing orders of the Governor of California. Their lack of enforcement puts the health of residents at risk, especially the elderly population. In addition dogs run wild barking so loud that you cant leave your windows open.

Clean and well groomed. Soft white sand. Not crowded in March. Clean restrooms. Close to many dining and drink options.

Amazing beach... perfect for anyone and everyone! Great shops, hotels and restaurants close by! Can’t wait to return!

Beach is huge and cannot imagine feeling crowded even if had many guests. Parking is premium if you drive so park a bit away and walk over

Not the cleanest beach, rather bland, with fighter jets and helicopters flying overhead every 15 minutes. Small waves no real surf.

Visited last year, pre-covid. Great large beach, lush white sand. Dolphins diving in the sea. Highly recommended.

A group of friends gathered here on the beach for a few quick pics. Very clean, with clear water - it was just a lovely beach. The backdrop of Hotel del Coronado cannot be beat.

A gorgeous beach with just the right amount of people - in front of the Hotel del Coronado, with peaceful waters and bright white sand. Plenty of spots to find seashells. It was so special to dip my toes in the pacific ocean again after so many years!

There is a long section of beach here which is deep and extremely well maintained. Lifeguards constantly patrol the beach. There is plenty of space on a weekday (not such how crowded it gets on the weekend).
If you're on the beach near the Hotel del Coronado you'll have a number of food choices at the hotel or on the main street nearby.

Great sunsets, photo ops and large beach for swimming and lounging. Long walk across the sand in places to get to water .

Gorgeous beach stretches on and on. We had a beautiful sunny January on the island. Seventeen more characters requirex

Coronado might be “a fairytale,” but it is not a swimmer’s paradise. The water was polluted, had big waves, and was too cold to enjoy. Only women in bathing suits strolled the sand but stayed clear of the shore. Besides being expensive, there are crabs and stingrays right by the water’s edge, so you have to wear water shoes on the beach. It’s about 50 minutes to walk from the half-hourly ferry dock/ $9 from San Diego Conference Center—better than the expense of parking. From the Convention Centre Hilton Bayfront, it was easy to catch a shuttle as well (for hotel guests). To walk to Coronado Beach, disembark and cross the island toward Orange Ave. There’s a crosswalk: from the Ferry dock we walked clear across in 45 minutes past houses to Ynez-Adelle street, which leads directly to the public beach/hotel beside Shores condos—North of the naval guard tower. Surfboards are for rent behind the patio bar of the Hotel del Coronado. Except in the winter, calling a free Express bus can also take you to different hotels/sites.
The beachfront Hilton-managed Hotel del Coronado is across from Glorietta Bay Inn where the Hilton shuttle stops.
From the airport there’s the #902 bus or Green line trolley to reach the Convention Center and marina/ferry. Be sure to arrange a shuttle or seat back to the mainland or concrete of San Diego by 7 pm.

The beach is clean , sand is super awesome. It’s a big beach and lots of room for families. So we’ll kept up by the city of Coronado! We stayed overnight and the trucks are there every morning picking up garbage , cleaning .. A great place .

This is the perfect beach. Huge. Free parking in neighborhood next door. The view is stunning. Doesn’t get any better.

Hotel Del Coronado.Just like Brighton England.were l was Born.Used t have ferry boat,now Bridge.Beautiful Hotel.Best Beach.would love t stay,in Coronado,if l could afford it.

If you're even close to San Diego you owe it to yourself to visit the famous Coronado Beach. So much to see here. It's just beautiful.

We stayed in Mission Beach and ventured over to Coronado for a day and honestly wish we had stayed there instead. Coronado Beach is soft powdery sand with flecks of mica that makes it shimmer near the surf. I was told that the local hotels clean the beach daily and it showed. Much "cleaner" that Mission Beach and a more laid back vibe. We went on a Wednesday during prime vacation season and it was somewhat busy, but not crowded by beach standards. HIghly recommended.

such a nice beach with it's soft sand. could be a bit chilly here though but fun to also watch the navy flying and doing their tricks in the air and on sea.

The beach faces the Pacific Ocean directly and offers magnificent ocean views. Depending on the timing, it can be quite inward because the waves from the open sea are crashing as they are.

Very nice beach right on the edge of the swanky Hotel del Coronado. Plenty of space so you can avoid the crowds and screaming children when the sun is out. Also great people watching. My favorite beach by far when I visit SD. :)

We went to Coronado Beach, an island called Coronado in California. It was a beautiful beach, not crowded at all and very clean. The seaweed is somewhat heavy at least while we were there but the water and sand was full of gold glitter. Yeah I know, hard to imagine if you’ve never been but really neat. We didn’t stay anywhere in the island, we just went to the beach on a suggestion from a friend. Totally worth the trip since we were in San Diego anyway.

We stayed in the Del Ray at Coronado Beach. We liked the area so much we may end up with a retirement place there in the future! The beach is super clean and wonderful at all times of the day. If in the area it is a must do!

Very wide beach with soft clean sand. Not overcrowded even on the weekend. Very easy access and parking nearby. Great place.

Great place for walks on thhe beach or collect shells. It is clean and absolutely stunning. Great beach for a run but I dont recommend a swim. Water is cold.

I enjoyed my days here...lots of room to spread out (over Christmas though). Might be different in the summer.
The water was beautiful, the sunset was great, the people watching and the soft, white sand. What not to like...and it’s on Coronado Island...which is just lovely.
Pack a picnic and enjoy!

I’ve never been to the Pacific Ocean so I didn’t know if this was normal or not, but there’s so much seaweed in places you can’t even walk to the water. Luckily, this was just a day trip for me and San Diego has been wonderful. I just kept thinking of the people who paid to stay there for a vacation and had to smell and see this view everyday.

The local soldiers were there exercising and doing drills which made us so very proud and honored to be protected by them. Thank you!

The beach is crazy busy but if you go out there you’ll be able to find a place for your family. It is right next to the Del which has ice cream.

Huge stretch of beach, level and uncrowded. Fine texture sand, well supervised by lifeguards. Warm ocean perfect for cooling off, ability to walk endless miles and saw several folks with dogs on leash. Just gorgeous!

Try high tide pizza its awsome big pizza price is good they sell almost everything there. We had a blast

Coronado Beach is a simple, but lovely beach, in Coronado. I only walked a small stretch of it, but it makes for great beach walking. The dry part is a bit tough to get through, but the wet, flat parts makes it easier. If you're staying at the Del, the beach is in it's backyard. There were some nice sand sculptures made when I was there. The beach does offer some nice views of Point Loma and on clearer days, Mexico and it's islands can be seen as well. Being Southern California, of course there are places to play volleyball. If you're looking for a nice place to escape for a while and relax a bit. Coronado Beach is a great option.

Lovely place to sit or stroll. Amazing what is left on the beach in the evening...ie beach chairs, shoes...lol

A very nice beach to hang out, watch the sunset and have a nice evening on the beach, relax on the beautiful sand and talk a nice long walk, there is something special about this beach.

Love this beach because parking is free and close by. The beach is clean and well maintained. Everyone had a great time looking for shells and enjoying the holiday flakes in the sand there. Our son thought for sure it was gold!

Plenty of room to play, enjoy family time, and lay out. It is a nice wide open beach with PLENTY to offer.

Coronado beach is the one of the best beaches I have visited in San Diego. It's wide, too many place to spread out comfortably and very clean. It's the best place where you can feel calm and relaxed.

You must get here early to secure a parking spot as there are not many. The only exception is if you are military and then the other side of this beach is open to you with more parking and a beach too, but it's for military families. The beach has beautiful white sand with lovely shells being thrown up on it as it's open to the coast. The view out to sea with large ships, Point Loma Pennisula, and Cabrillo National Monument is great. In the background is the low growl of planes from North Island Naval Air Center. Overhead fly helicopters infrequently which children love to see. I saw a pelican flying across the breakers looking for a meal.

This is the best beach I have visited in California so far. It was clean and has nice sand. The sand looks like it has gold glitter in it. It’s beautiful. There’s tons of seashells. My daughter even found a full sand dollar. Just beware that there are stingrays not too far out from the beach. Our oldest daughter stepped on one and got stung. Luckily we were right by the lifeguard tower and they helped her by soaking her foot in hot water. Other than that, we had the next time boogie boarding and playing in the sand.

This is our favorite beach in California. We love to rent the chairs and umbrella and sit on the beach and read.
The food at the different food courts at the hotel are wonderful as well. We sometimes grab lunch on the deck and then head to the beach when we are finished. It is a great day with the family!

We had a blast at Coronado beach with our young kids. The water was shallow and warm. The sand was perfect for playing. We ended the day at the beach shake nearby for live music and fish tacos with beer!

While I don't think this is in the top 10 beaches in CA (nothing like Laguna Beach) - it's a nice beach. On the South end near the Naval Base entrance is a dog beach. As you head North you've got the Hotel Del & there's some nice breaks up there. Great for a long walk or just chilling on the sand.

We spent 4 days on this beach and we enjoyed every minute of it.
The lifeguards are friendly and helpful and the sand is cleared every morning.
Coronado is a great town with the best beach!
We highly recommend this beach to all of our family and friends.

We were visiting on a day that was hugely overcast and had intermittent showers. However, we did go out on the beach for a long walk - this beach is very big, and is kept very well, no trash or anything. We were sad to not be able to see it on a nicer day, but you could tell it would be a great spot to visit. We loved all the shops and restaurants nearby too - a very fun place to spend a day!

We loved the beautiful beach. The sand is clean and soft.So many places to take a long walk. We enjoyed watching the ship traffic and hearing the fighter jets take off.

We really enjoyed this friendly, clean beach, for an early afternoon stroll. We walked from the Coronado Hotel to the dog area, about one mile. It was very nice, wide beach, easy to walk. I recommend going during low tide. There were many amenities by the Hotel Coronado that were open to the public, regardless if staying there or not. The atmosphere was very welcoming. There were places to eat near the hotel that were outdoors with views of the ocean, or visit other great areas to eat on and around Orange St. Great place to spend the day!

Great way to spend part of your day, then head into town to Clayton's all day diner. Wonderful food and desserts there with good prices and a jukebox for music. Great memories.

This is the beach you can see from the top of Cabrillo, as you look at the San Diego skyline. First, the trip there over the Coronado Bridge is fun. The beach itself is beautiful, peaceful and great for walking. The northern end has a dog friendly area. and the Hotel del Coronado is close by. There are good facilities. What we really enjoyed was collecting sand dollars. At this time of years, there were hundreds of the urchin skeletons all over the beach so we collected several to bring home. When we arrived home I bleached them and them vacuumed out the sand from the interior and they became a dazzling white color. Great memento from a most wonderfully beautiful beach.

Some guy created a couple of sand sculptures right on the beach during our stay. They were amazing!!!

We have visited Coronado's Main Beach for decades. The biggest hassle is parking, so you have to go early to find a spot that lets you carry your chairs and snacks. Go further north than just by the Hotel Del and it gets a lot less crowded, too. The Navy's landing pattern for North Island runs along the shoreline, so you get to see some pretty cool military craft on approach from time to time.
If you're not by the Del, it isn a ways to get drinks or food, and if you leave your parking spot, don't count on it being there when you return. The beach sand is wide and pretty flat, so it is good if you have kids who want to run around (you can keep an eye on them).

Beautiful beach!!! The sand is almost white. Fun waves and one of the most romantic morning or evening walks in all of San Diego. Just make sure you obey when you get to the signs that say not to proceed forward. After all this is where the Navy SEALS train, and they are some toughest people in the world. May God Bless our men and women who serve this great country.

Beautiful clean beach. Lots of chair rentals, drinks, and food. Nice way to spend the day. Umbrellas, taco stand too

It was a special evening to park near the northern end of the beach and to walk southward, past the Hotel Del Coronado, as the sun was beginning to set. There are many great photo ops.
It is fun to walk to the Hotel Del, and have a drink at the bar and see the spectacular Christmas lights there. They even have an ice skating rink outdoors. It is a beautiful, historic place to visit.

Great beach with super soft golden sands, enjoyed my day with my family, absolutely worth the visit, the best beach I’ve ever been besides water wasn’t very warm.

We visited on a Sunday in late March when the temperature climbed to the mid 70's. There were lots of people but the beach is so big you really didn't notice. The sand has shimmering gold flecks which dazzle in the sunlight. Lots of shells scattered across the sand and along the waters edge (in the break).

Saw great things about this beach from CNN best beaches. It was absolutely amazing, while it was the 4th of July week there was room for everyone and it didnt feel crowded. Loved watching the sunset

We enjoyed a stroll on the walkway with great views of the water. It’s easy to get your 10,000 steps in while enjoying the scenery! The flowers were in bloom and were fragrant.

The beach is beautiful here. The sand is fine and the water was delightful. Great to sit and people watch and read a book. It's also nice to take a stroll along beach. If staying at Del Coronado, they do offer beverage and food service as well as beach chair/cabana rentals. Please note that you cannot take any seashells off beach whether alive or empty( that was the only disappointment as I am a collector of shells from our travels). This beach is a must to hit if in the area( also some great restaurants and small shops at Del ).

Beautiful beach with glittery golden sand. I loved it! My children loved it. It was clean. There was also a dog area for pet lovers.

It was our first trip to Coronado Island. We walked through the historic Hotel del Coronado and onto the beach.
The beach is VERY wide, perhaps a hundred yards wide. We were there in early April and the beach was clean and a few people were in the water. We walked for about a half mile along the beach and then went back to the street.
I would definitely make it a stop if you go to Coronado.

The beach itself is beautiful and clean. No service at all, no parking, no toilets or showers, no umbrella or chairs rental

this is a large beach but a very safe beach as life guards are posted at regular intervals a good promenade for walking or for the more active running

Beautiful beach but unfortunately you can’t get in the water, the signs indicate it’s contaminated with sewage. Very sad and disappointing after paying a pretty high price for a room.

One of our favorite spots in San Diego and one of the best beaches in the area. Fantastic views looking down towards Mexico, out towards the point, and at the world famous Hotel Del Coronado. Lots of free parking on the street fronting the beach but if that’s all taken you can pay for parking at the Del or across the street. Good swimming if the waves are down but check for advisories or check with the lifeguards to be sure. Great beach for a picnic. Expect to see and hear loud jets doing practice take offs and landings at the Naval Base at North Island. Be sure to check out the Del while you’re there. Pricey restaurants but good food and there are a few grab and go options at more reasonable prices.

Wonderful Beach in a great location. Always a crowd there because of the easy location. Still a great place to go to.

Cabanas, the beach the glittering sandy beach, the beach staff, the VIEWS. Everything you need or want is on the beach

The beach was closed due to sewage contamination from Mexico. We were unable to go near the water. The beach itself was fairly dirty and not what I expected for the area.

The shimmer of light on the wet beach makes it look like gold gold flecks interject with the sand. A long expanse of clean and lovely beach which feels like it goes on for miles & miles. A lovely place to wile away a few hours, a really pleasant location to visit.

We came here on a late Saturday morning. Unable to find street parking we parked in the Hotel Del Coronado garage. It was a short walk to the beach from there. The windy condition and chilly weather did nothing to deter beach lovers. The wide open beach with soft white sand under a picturesque blue sky seemed so inviting. We picked a spot practically in front of the iconic hotel. It’s nice that we could access the hotel for restrooms and shop at its many stores. We were able to apply validation from purchases at the hotel stores to defray the expensive parking charge. There’s a popular taco stand conveniently close by for food and drinks. We’re glad that our grandkids could walk on the beach and put their little feet in the ocean water.

the hotel has numerous options for the beach. chairs and umbrellas available for rent. beach bar and outdoor restaurant is very nice

Beautiful beach. Coronado is across from Dan Diego but great like a different world. Nice shops and restaurants and a beautiful beach to enjoy. A must see when in San Diego

Being Born in San Diego and as a Native Coronado Island is my Favorite place to visit on the Beach and Off , I am sure a lot of tourist come for the Hotel Del Coronado which is pretty amazing with a lot of history here in San Diego, I grew up here in San Diego and I am also a Military Vet and a Military Brat I was lucky enough to also go on all the Bases around San Diego…. Coronado Island has a lot of History. As military Member you can also stay on the Base on the Beach and see the lovely views out past Point Loma and Hotel Del Coronado.

The beach is absolutely beautiful.. The sand looks like gold flakes. Lots of shells and sand dollars. Tried looking for wreckage but was unable to find it even during low tide.

I’ve been to this beach many times. The atmosphere is usually pretty nice. Weather in San Diego is hard to beat. The beach parking isn’t the easiest sometimes in the summer but overall it’s not too far from the downtown shopping and food and restaurants. It’s one of my favorite places in the country as it has a decent amount of people but typically isn’t flooded except for parts of the summer. The water isn’t clear like tropical islands or anything and it ain’t super fancy but it’s a nice beach and beautiful, peaceful area. It’s a nice experience to hit the beach and walk over 10-15 minutes to the strip and have some food and drinks. I definitely recommend if you’re just looking for a nice beach experience with good cuisine nearby. Miguel’s Cocina is my favorite over there. Mc P’s is a great spot for drinks and bar food. Old Navy Seal Bar, pretty cool history and great seating outdoors.

Coronado Beach is arguably the best beach in the entire state of California constantly making it to the top 10 US beaches annually. It is everything that you expect and read about in a beautiful Southern Californian beach that personifies the Californian state of mind. It is one of the widest beach covered with soft white sand that glitters with the majestic Pacific Ocean in front. It’s a perfect getaway for the family and it is an ideal beach for swimming, body surfing or boogie boarding as the waters and the waves seem to be relatively calmer but do observe any lifeguard warnings in the event of rip currents. The beach can get crowded during summer but since this beach is so wide, there is plenty of room for everyone. There are also showers and bathroom facilities. If you can’t find parking along the beach, you can do side street parking in the residential neighborhood, and it’s not too far a walk to the beach from these neighborhoods.

My first time to go on the Coronado Beach, and I think it was the school group, and we went there on March 3rd on Tuesday, and it was very hot that day, and I got sick this morning, but it is very hot and sweating.

Lovely beach with clear water - one of my favourites I've been too, so beautiful, and with the Coronado hotel there too, it's worth a visit.

Wonderful sand and seaweed. Lots of people but great waves. Planes flying overhead but not that often. Not my favorite beach but still a solid choice for San Diego area.

Even by covid-safety standards this deep and wide sandy beach is well-distanced and calming.
Beautiful!

This beach is beautiful!! It's beyond well-maintained and you can pop up to the Hotel Del Coronado (pictured) for a drink, lunch or dinner!

Great place for an early morning walk. There is gold in the sand with lots of sand dollars and shell. It is a treasure trove.

An added benefit, The Navy Seals do their training on the ocean, awesome to see the Navy Seals working.
Always someone cleaning the beach. It was a daily occurrence, which is what it takes to maintain a luxurious beach, like Coronado Beach. Yes, I highly recommend Coronado Beach, and Coronado Island. Thank you

This was our favorite beach and favorite place in San Diego. Not anymore. The beach was closed due to raw sewage in the water from Mexico. The water, which used to be a beautiful blue, was brown and obviously full of sewage. Even the sand was not as sparkling as it used to be. The smell was awful! What a travesty! Hopefully Coronado Beach will be able to return to its former splendor in the future, but until then, I’d avoid this beach!

Visited Coronado Island and Beach in July 2023 and July 2024. This year the water was off limits (red flags) but the beach was still open to sun worshippers. Nice to walk along with boardwalk past the grand Coronado Hotel. Lots of people but not too crowded. Bring lots of sunscreen as the sun is very strong once the morning marine layer burns off. Close to Orange Ave and area restaurants if you get hungry. The pictures attached are from my visit in July 2023. A must visit if you are in San Diego.

Made a pit stop on my way to San Diego. This is a lovely beach. Plenty of space. Many families with their kids and dogs. Super super cute.

Be sure to check out the sand castle; a gentleman builds a beautiful one everyday. Of course, you can’t beat hanging out right outside Hotel Del Coronado.

Very clean near- white beach, excellent for walking, great views of hotel and ships off shore. I'm so glad we visited, there is lots of beach that you aren't crowded!

Tons of trash in front of Hotel Del. disappointing! Don't understand why guests cannot pick up their trash, or why hotel doesn't deal with it?

This beach is clean and beautiful. It has volleyball courts and wildlife. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip.

The history brought us here. The setting is beautiful. It was a crowded area on a Saturday afternoon. Walking through the hotel and shops is enjoyable...lovely way to visit this landmark.

Always a must when visiting in the San Diego area. The beach is family friendly, great tide pools and clean. Hotel appears to be under renovation but also worth a walk through..

Amazing beach in San Diego. Super clean and organize beach, with plenty of space for everyone to stay and play. 5 stars. Only downside the parking can be challenging but it not super difficult to find it.

This is a lovely very wide beach with plenty of room for the many people who flock to it. The sand is great and my children really enjoyed building sand castles on it. They are also lots of places nearby to grab drinks or food.

Beautiful beach, loads of space, calm, sandy and gentle water. You can hire beach chairs etc from the Del even if you’re not staying there. Beware buying anything from the Del, it’s ridiculously expensive ($9 for an OJ).

Beautiful, big and clean beach. Nice to watch some maneuvers of the military that are based there, helicopters, planes, etc. that leave and
Arrives from the Coronado base

Overall, a nice beach that locals recommended because it is sunnier in the morning compared to some of the northern SD beaches: La Jolla or Solana
Free parking on Ocean and neighboring streets. Restroom is located where Isabella and Ocean intersect. Restrooms are clean with indoor and outdoor showers
Easy beach access for the disabled. There is a concrete walkway to the lifeguard building and then, a temporary metal walkway almost to the water.
No food or concessions at the beach except for the nearby Del Coronado Hotel. It’s about a 1/3 of a mile walk to the Del Coronado Hotel. You can gain access to the restaurants, bars, and restrooms from the beach.
Waves are bigger at this location. Much smaller waves past the rock jetty at the Del
Lots of military aircraft flying directly overhead

Coroando Beach is a quintesential southern California beach with nice sand, moderate surf, plenty of sun, but not too hot!
The Hotel del Coronado provides a lovely nostalgic look back at the golden age of Hollywood beach glam and is a fun place to explore and shop.
If you're visiting the beach itself for a day or two, I highly recommend using the services of Beach Butlers. Beach Butlers will set up and take down all the heavy beach equipment that is so hard to lug around.
Beach Butlers saved us so much time and stress since they had everything set up by 10:00am when we got to Coronado Beach. We got the Party of 4 Package which included FOUR Tommy Bahama umbrellas, 4 Tommy Bahama beach chairs, 4 towels, 2 blankets, a cooler with ice, 4 water bottles, a roll of paper towels, and 2 lined garbage cans. All the equipment was very clean and in fantastic condition. The umbrellas were very securely planted on a windy day. We had several people ask us how we got the umbrellas to stay in place so well, so we told them about Beach Butlers.
The owner provided a lot of information about the beach and Hotel del Coronado, including information about what to see at the Hotel, which is open to look around to anyone.
When we were done for the day, all we had to do was pick up our own stuff and leave! No lugging back the chairs and umbrellas. Beach Butlers came and cleaned it all up after we left.
We highly recommend Coronado Beach and the service Beach Butlers provides. It saves a lot of time and stress. Well worth your money!

Great beach, not crowded, enjoyed watching the planes fly in and out. Parking available. Hotel Del in the background.

We had such an amazing time here, the sights are Beautiful and we loved walking around the town!! I would love to live here some day!

This is a great place to visit. You can go for a walk along the long (paved) promenade near the beach or, of course, on the beach itself. The beach is huge and when we were there, fairly crowded. There are a number of places along the beach to sit and/or eat with live music. We also saw an amazing sand sculpture and it appeared that the guy who created it was more/less a regular at that spot.

Beautiful sandy beach , long stretch of shoreline to walk or run great place to just sit and watch the sunset or visit the Coronado hotel for a drink, if you want to take a swim not a bad place to get your feet wet definitely one of the best beach in California!

We loved out time walking the beach while staying at the Hotel Del Coronado. The beach was very clean and beautiful.

Love the beach early in the morning, it was a great walk on a clean and well maintained beach. Great place to go.

Walking around the island and taking a long walk along the beachfront is not to be missed while in Coronado. The views are beautiful, the ocean breeze is very pleasant, and the photo ops are great. No matter how long or short the walk, you will surely take beautiful shots and enjoy yourself thoroughly.

This is a stunning beach with golden sand, clear water, small waves, and lovely views. Great for small children. Wish we lived closer so we could visit more often.

In San Diego, this is THE beach to visit. Gorgeous sunset views, people watching, restaurants, long strolls along the water. Perfect!

One of the great pleasures of Coronado is strolling along the water front. To one side, the beautiful beach (wear short pants, sandels so you can walk in the surf!) and to the other, a long line of homes - some are architecturally stunning, some have beautiful gardens, lots to chat about as you walk! And of course, there are plenty of eateries & shops nearby (we went to the Blue Water Boat House: excellent!)

Reserved a day bed from the Del Beach website. Had excellent location and view of the ocean. Had the bed for the entire day.
There was a waiter from the Taco Shack that provided our drinks and food during the day. We were able to charge our bill to our room at the Del.
The great thing is that you don’t have to be a guest at the Del to take advantage of the amenities at the beach.
Our day at the beach was great and we will do it again

What more can I say. Coronado Beach is the beach of all beaches. The views are great, it isn't over-crowded.

If you love visiting beaches, this beach is a must experience! The waves are doable for persons just learning how to surf.

Beautiful beach, wide sandy area. You may see various aircraft coming into the naval air station which is at the end of the beach. There is a walkway near Isabella and Ocean street that extends fairly far out onto the beach. Great for wheelchairs, strollers and wagons. There are public restrooms which were clean but nothing fancy. Outside showers to wash the sand off. Beach was clean and well maintained. Water was cold but there were some swimmers and surfers.

Great beach, not crowed, easy access, parking is a challenge, come early. Weather great, slight breeze, plenty of space, clean, lots to do.

This is one of the prettiest beaches we've ever visited. We only waded in the water as it was April and the waves were a tad cool for our liking, but we very much enjoyed the lovely scenery and poking around the Hotel Coronado, which is a must-see for fans of history or architecture (we're into both.)

The beach area is well kept and clean. Convenient bath house at the entrance, also nicely maintained. The water was around 70°F, a little chilly for us. The one draw back was there was no beach chair/umbrella rentals on the beach.

Have been coast to coast and this is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Sand, surf, views in all directions.

Great beach with fantastic sand - very large and beautiful. Bring a chair and sit down and enjoy nature. Parking available on the street

The beach is large. The sand coarse but satisfactory. The Pacific the Pacific. Repairs. Amenities. Nice visit.

My husband and I were staying in San Diego and went to Coronado Beach to "check it out". It was approximately 20 minutes from our downtown San Diego hotel. The beautiful Coronado bridge is TOLL-FREE ! We did not wear bathing suits or bring towels because I am handicapped and use an electric scooter so I assumed I would only be able to get NEAR the beach but not on it. BUT, WONDERFUL, AWESOME DISCOVERY!! The Coronado Beach had a rubbery-mesh walkway ON THE SAND so that I was able to get pretty far on it - close to the water. And then, at the lifeguard house, there were BEACH WHEELCHAIRS available for use. We were told that they were available for an hour at a time and that if no one else requested one, that it could be kept for another hour! These beach wheelchairs would give me access right down to the ocean! The beach was clean and beautiful. We will definitely be back here as there are not many beaches that service the disabled. It is wonderful!

Coronado Beach is a beautiful beach with stunning views. Picture perfect white sand. Very crowded beach. The water is cold but oh so nice

Get there early! Parking is hard to find but once you are there there are no limits to how long you can be there. You can grill in areas made for that, bring tour beach toys and umbrellas and enjoy the sun! The showers were unsanitary but if you must use them, make sure you wear flip flops at all times!

I love this beach! The sand is a bit of a workout but I enjoy it. Its beautiful sand with gold flakes everywhere, and it goes on for quite a while. The beach is beautiful. Well kept and clean. Water is fun and relaxing. My son had a lot of fun boogie boarding, and playing in the sand. Parking is free and fairly easy most of the time.

What a great beach! Very large with nice sand. Long stretch of shallow water at low tide. Plenty of parking on the street (but was not crowded when we visited). Navy jets flying in very low over the beach when heading in to land. The teenage girls loved it and so did I!

If you are in the San Diego area, this beach is well worth a visit. The beach is very wide and quite expensive. And the day we were here, the waves were quite gentle. Therefore, very small children will feel very comfortable at the waters edge. there is plenty of free parking on the street beside the beach. However, probably best to come early because the beach does get busier later in the day. The beach can get noisy at times because of low flying military aircraft which land at a nearby base. But otherwise you will have a very pleasant time here.

Its the beach. Visited in May 2019. A little cold and rainy during our stay, but still worth spending time. Large beach and in season is staffed by lifeguards.

Place has changed hands, but is still awesome. Great visit. Highly recommended. Parking in the area is a challenge if you are not staying at the hotel, but still worth the visit.

Beautiful place, with lots of sun and a beautiful view!
It is opposite the Hotel Coronado, which is luxurious!
A very pleasant shore to walk on... we loved the walk!

By local accounts, this was an early warm up but so very much appreciated by this northerner! No plastic or crap visibly seen on beach. The water is still cold in April. The sunset was beautiful too!

The view is excellent, especially at and immediately after sunset. The sky is huge over the ocean, we see white cap waves and the sound is beautiful. Also our daughter found a dozen sand dollars at low tide. The beach’s only caution is that it has signs saying not to swim, presumably due to the water not being clean enough. We took a long walk in the comfy sand and admired the local flora and fauna. Why drive to Sunset Cliff when you have everything right here?

If you want to just walk the beach you are fine. If you are hoping to go surfing, boogie boarding, or just letting the kids play in the water, not going to happen. There are sewage warning signs to not swim in the ocean.

I had high hopes for Coronado Beach - the drive over the bridge from San Diego is pretty amazing, and the properties on the island are incredible. The beach itself was nice with fine clean sand (side note - check out the Top Gun Maverick volley ball nets just north of the Coronado hotel), however there were signs preventing access to the sea due to sewage etc. this put a dampener on the whole experience.

This is definitely one our favorite Southern California beaches!! Soft sand, lots of space to spread out the crowd, beautiful water. The hotel Del Coronado makes a lovely backdrop to this beautiful beach!! A talented Sandcastle artist often has a beautiful sandcastle near "the Del". It's always fun to talk to him and see his art.
The US military base is south of the beach and training helicopter flights often flyover the beach which is always neat to see.

It was a gray day at the beach, but that didn't ruin the experience. The cold ocean was still calling us to dip our feet in and we did. The houses and hotel in the background complete a beautiful backdrop. Lots of amenities available nearby.

beautiful beach and spacious view and spectacular contours... of course we are not in the Caribbean but in low california... bridge to get there in the background and resort behind the sea........... I was in November and there were very few people... beautiful

I live in San Diego and have access to all the beaches and this one is just one of the very best. Beautiful white sand, excellent lifeguard coverage, fantastic for families.

Nice long public beach with wide sands and tons of street parking along the beach.
Easy access points along with public restrooms and rinse stations well spaced.
A great walk when in San Diego.

I am a local, but I still enjoy going to Coronado Beach. It is very relaxing. A great place to take a walk. I truly enjoy the part of the beach that is dog friendly and where dogs can run around without their leash. Watching them swim in the ocean is awesome. If you are stressed out..this place will alleviate your anxiety/stress. Highly recommend. Only 2 complaints is that the public restrooms are often not clean (no toilet seat covers) and parking is a challenge especially on weekends. Lots of nearby restaurants.

It's a white sand beach around san diego. The water is clean and due to white sand the beach aopears golden in colour. Left side is all san Diego city and the enroute to beach is also amazing

It was a very nice experience, from jumping on the boat, looking at the city of San Diego from the sea, crossing the ocean and getting to this beautiful place was fascinating. find beautiful places, the beach, the sand, the food, the souvenirs: it is like time travel because of the beautifulness of its buildings.

Great, easily accessible island with beautiful views, clean sand and terrific architecture. We ate at the expensive restaurant at the Hotel Coronado as a splurge, but the walk up cafes at the hotel and elsewhere were popular too. This would be a great spot to have a picnic dinner and watch the sunset. Plentiful free street parking along the beach, but expect a walk.

I was in SD for a conference and had a little free time so I made the quick ride over to Coronado to get my feet in the sand. It’s a large clean beach with a small area for some tide pool exploring. The view is wonderful.
My picture is of the small dunes area but most of the beach is just beautiful open sand!

Love visiting Coronado Beach! Plenty of parking, great nearby shops and restaurants along Orange Ave, convenient boardwalk, and a fun rock jetty with tide pool critters. Plus, it’s near the Naval base so it’s really fun to watch the jets and helicopters fly by. Perfect beach for a day trip!

It's not too crowded at least not in September. It's great for long walks and jogging. There are always some surfer here.

This was not our first visit to Coronado beach but as always, I just love this beach. Even with the week-end crowds, it doesn't feel crowed at all. Great to just sit back and watch the waves. Fun people watching too. Make sure to sunscreen it up, even if it is foggy-you will get sunburned!

What a nice place to watch the sunset and run your feet through the sand. There's hotel del Coronado in the background that adds a nice back drop.
Love it!!!
Smaller and way less crowded than up the water in San Diego. More relaxed and just a better vibe.... no crazy dance music playing too loud and good mlm people.just enjoying a day at the beach!!!
