Coronado is a quaint little beach and bayside town that feels like a dream. As soon as you get off the Coronado Bridge from San Diego you feel like you’ve stepped back in time fifty years. Stroll along the shops, galleries and restaurants on Orange Avenue, head down to the Landing for shopping and a meal, take the ferry ride over to Seaport Village, or spend the day at the beach in front of the world famous Hotel Del Coronado built in 1887 and opened in 1888. Unless I’m mistaken it’s the largest all wooden structure west of the Mississippi River. There are many great hotels and resorts to stay at though are favorites are the Hotel Del and the Glorrieta Bay Inn right across the street. Watch for Art in the Park, shows at the Lambs Player Theatre, and other special events and activities during holidays and weekends. La Jolla, SeaWorld, Old Town and the zoo are all thirty minutes or less from Coronado so it’s a great place to set up for a visit to San Diego. Enjoy!!

Really nice place to visit. The people are friendly, and it's not too rushed or busy in the area. Easy to drive around, and plenty of places to eat.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Coronado. Beautiful beaches and plentiful, diverse dining and shopping options. Many parks. Very kid and dog friendly. It is not a place to experience late-night entertainment. Everything pretty much shuts down around 9:00, but that worked for us.

What a fun place! We started with a little jaunt through the famous hotel and the shops within. They have a fun candy/ice cream parlor as well as some neat little clothes shops. There is also a very cool shop with all kinds of fun and interesting items (anything from art to decor to collectibles, etc.). The weather wasn't conducive to beach activity but the beaches are gorgeous! We ate at some great restaurants in town and shopped the little shops along the main road in. We will definitely be back!

We drove in from San Diego, a few minute ride, and spent the day on the beach and then lunch at a pizza place and shopping I very good place for a day if you are not already staying there. If you cannot find a spot on the street there is plenty of public parking.

We loved spending time on Cornado Island over this past holiday break. We stayed at the Del Cornado. I'd suggest the following activities and sites: Vist (not stay) at the Del Cornado Hotel to ice skate, see the light show and eat and their amazing taco stand. Eat in town at garage buona forchetta for the most amazing Pizza and great service! Enjoy gelato at Nado Gelato. Check out the shops on Orange Avenue, the dog beach, and a nice walk on the beach! It's also convenient to all the fun sites in San Deigo such as the zoo, La Jolla and Balboa park for museums.

You can spend all day here or just a couple hours browsing the town, looking for a find! Catch the beach, walk through the Hotel Del gets snack..all is fine!

Before I moved to San Diego I heard quite a bit about Coronado. I have been there just to take pictures and also at Ferry Landing to ride on Yachts. I have also eaten at various restaurants and sports bars. If you want family-friendly fun and great views, check out Coronado.

A truly beautiful and unique outing! If you are visiting San Diego as we were, take the effort to go see this Island. It has a very different feel to it than San Diego and is quite delightful! A quick trip over the bridge and you are in a place that has a different pace to life and much more quiet. Obviously dominated by the military, but usually only at certain times of the day is it a bit hectic.
Orange Avenue is a great place to stroll, and don't miss the beaches either! Easy to rent a bike and ride around!

A lovely Island we went on a Monday so was very quite. We walked from the ferry to the hotel and beyond. Has a really nice feel to the whole place would go back

This place is fantastic lovely properties all round the island beautifully eateries and a really good family buzz

I was in San Diego on business. On Saturday, November 18, 2023 I decided to take the ferry to Coronado Island. In articles it is bragged up as a wonderful place to visit, so I checked it out. If one has a car to drive across on the bridge it may be a totally different experience. For myself, I was on foot getting off the ferry. There are a few shops along the waterfront near the ferry dock, but two blocks in, it is completely boring. I didn't care to walk a mile or two to the other side, so I bought a cup of coffee and went back to the ferry dock to catch the ferry back to San Diego harbor. Total time on Coronado Island? About 45 minutes.

Coronado Island is a very nice place. You get a ton of different varieties of foods and travel experiences. You are very close to delicious Mexican food at Miguels and delicious ice cream at Moo Time.

Coronado is a nice escape as well as a wonderful getaway. Pretty, civilized, less busy than San Diego proper. Really worthy of a few days or longer.

This is one of the most beautiful islands of anywhere! It has natural beaches, as well as hotel and restaurant beaches.

Lovely small town feel
On the beach. Lots of restaurants and bars. Convenient to some beautiful wide beaches open to the public. Laidback vibe.

Took a 5 minute ferry ride from the convention center to get the island. The island has a nice, quiet vibe... less busy than downtown and the surrounding beach communities, but still plenty of spots to eat and shop around. The ferry ride was short, but pretty. Great views of the San Diego skyline from the ferry and the island.

Beautiful beaches and lovely trip over the boat. Nice restaurants to pop into as well - very worthwhile day trip from San Diego

I absolutely love visiting Coronado Island. Sitting on the beach and just enjoying the ocean sites and sounds is awesome. Rent a bike and explore the island. A relaxing place with lots of dining options. The traffic on the island is however heavy at most times.

We stayed at the Marriott Resort & Spa…highly recommend…great location, clean, friendly staff & fabulous pool/dining. We enjoyed the walking path along the water…loved the nighttime views of the city skyline from the hot tub! We went to the San Diego Zoo…did VIP tour which was fantastic….worth the money…lots of behind the scenes stuff including giraffe feeding, gorilla/elephant viewing areas. Also did Safari Park….bit disappointing….lots of walking & not as much to see. Glad we did the safari Jeep ride into the giraffe & rhino terrain. We did the Walkabout Australia behind the s ends and got up close to the kangaroos. We did the Saving Giants one too and got lucky to see the baby rhino with his mom. Our favorite restaurants were the Garage Buona Forchetta - amazing homemade Italian pastas & pizzas, Gelato Paradise was the best & Clayton’s Coffee Shop for tasty bakery & morning treats! We toured the USS Midway Museum…spent 3 hours….very interesting & lots of volunteers who’ve served and ready to share their stories. Worth a stop in Little Italy…so many spots for outdoor dining. We enjoyed Davanti Enoteca. Lastly we found a hidden gem on the island….Vintage Village Theatre….been open for over 64 years…definitely check it out if you can. We rented cars thru Enterprise…that was the fastest we’ve ever gotten checked in and out…staff was great to work with!
Can’t wait to go back….missed bike riding & tide pools!!

Great family getaway. Safe place sun in the fun. Best beach in San Diego. Stay at hotel Del Coronado and treat yourselves

I love Coronado and I came with my 7 year old grandson on his spring break from Minnesota. He loved running on the beach and all the gelato shops, riding the small ferry to San Diego, and the San Diego Zoo. BUT you need to know that the water is TOO POLLUTED to swim in and even to wade in most of the time ! It was such a disappointment for him. The sewage from the Tijuana river is almost always an issue. Also the extremely high decibel lnoise from almost constant Naval jets , drones , helicopters flying close overhead cannot be good for the ears ,so you should be aware that it’s a Naval base and the jets fly closely overhead regularly . If you do not plan on splashing in the water it’s a beautiful spot a with a ton to do and see in the area .Just don’t plan on it as a quiet beach vacation .

I'm in San Diego often and the beach just south of the Del is a favorite of mine. There are lots of places to get anything you want to eat and it's a great drive since you don't have to go over the bridge to go in and out.

This is an absolutely beautiful location! There is plenty to do for everybody. Shopping, eating, beaching-goers, etc. It's a very busy place with lots of people though. Parking can be challenging or pricey so do your homework in advance. The Hotel is just a majestic and historic must see! There are several places to eat or snack and you can shop there as well even if you are not staying. If nothing else it's a great place to stop for some great photos of you and the family!

Coronado ¬is a special place … to visit, but living here requires sacrifice or a boatload of cash and tolerance for tourists and traffic. When we first came here in 1971, we would see a small house for $75,000 and exclaim, “They want how much for that?” Now it is $2M or more for the same house, and that is on the low end. The great thing about the place is that it is a unique refuge from the big city and offers both a fabulous beach side and bay side with a small town feel in between. Although properties are expensive here, there is little pretense as you might find in similar price range communities. There are superb parks, scenic walks and plenty of great restaurants and shops. Reachable by bridge or ferry, but be aware to avoid peak traffic on the bridge in the weekday mornings until about 8am and in the afternoons from about 3:30 to 5:00, especially when there are two aircraft carriers tied up at the Naval Air Station.
Get out of your car and walk around the neighborhoods, along the bay or ocean shore. People are friendly, will look you in the eye and say hello and are quick to give helpful information. There may be more dogs per capita than most any other city of this size and certainly more being pushed in baby carriages or hauled in bike baskets than you’ve seen anywhere else. Pedestrians actually are given the right of way at crossings and the crime rate is nearly non-existent, as the police have zero tolerance for bad behavior. With a strong military presence, expect to see more polite and well-groomed youth than in most areas. If you are driving, be on the lookout for youngsters and oldsters on bikes. Many of the main streets have marked bike lanes, but most do not.
If you are looking for a circus atmosphere and expecting the place to actively entertain you, you will be disappointed. It is a place to be enjoyed for what it is, an oasis in the craziness that is Southern California. If you really want to experience the place, stay for a week or longer. There are many short-term rental opportunities ranging from affordable to ridiculous, but be forewarned, the place is addictive.

We first visited Coronado Island in the 1990's and have been back many times since. This place is enchanting and charming. It has a very fun vibe - but also very relaxed. The only other place I can equate it too is perhaps Cape May, New Jersey. Walk the shoreline, visit the shops, eat at one of dozens of amazing restaurants, and be sure to take in the rich history. The parks are family theaters. And dogs are everywhere for those who don't want to leave "Fido" at home.

We love Coronado and this visit did not disappoint. The weather was fantastic, the water was amazing, and the food was great as always. Recommend Burger Lounge vegetarian burger. Tastes like heaven! And the Gelateria had the best gelato I have had in a long time. Definitely will be staying on this island again!

Rated as one of the best islands and beaches to visit in Southern California, Coronado Island has the vibe and scenery that draws visitors from all over the world. It draws us every May for the Historical Mother’s Day tour of homes and never disappoints.

What a great place to relax eat and shop! I got some cute clothes at a boutique shop and we stopped at Coronado Brewing company for a brew and bite to eat

My friends and I went to the island when we were staying in San Diego, as a day trip. It was perfect! The location was clean and the people we met were friendly. Lots of restaurants and shops to choose from and a beautiful and clean beach available. Attractions were pricey but otherwise I have nothing negative to say!

Lots of activities to do with kids. Highly recommend for families with young kids. Enjoyed bike riding, jet skiing and the clean less crowded beaches.

Went here on a weekday getaway with spouse. Great downtown area with cool shops, dining, etc. Great for strolling and checking out the town. Short distance is the beach. Highly recommend for staying there or day trip. Great for couples and families.

We went over for an evening. Had dinner and went to Hotel de Coronado. The hotel was beautiful and decorated well for Christmas. I know there is an ice rink there during Christmas time but we couldn't find it. It is a big property and there were a lot of people so it was hard to move around. But the Coronado Island experience was a great one and a must go when in San Diego.

Coronado is perfect for enjoying a walk in the San Diego sun. Nice downtown shops and restaurant options along Orange Avenue, quiet beaches, walking areas on the Silver Strand, and the historic Del Coronado all make for a pleasant visit to this friendly and beautiful neighborhood.

Coronado is one of those places to go if you just want to get away to relax and have some fun. It’s amazingly accessible by ferry or car and you can get around on foot once you are there.
On the side facing the San Diego Bay and the city of San Diego, there is the Coronado Ferry Landing which is a very pretty village with shops and restaurants and best of all the most beautiful view of the San Diego city skyline from across the bay. There is also a sandy beach area. You can also walk to downtown Coronado where there are more shops and restaurants. If you just have a couple hours to visit Coronado, consider taking the ferry across and spend your time in Coronado Ferry Landing. If you can, stay till the evening to watch the lovely night views of downtown San Diego.
Coronado beach is on the side of Coronado facing the Pacific Ocean, it’s one of the widest beaches in San Diego and it’s an awesome beach to come for boogie boarding and swimming. The views of the sandy beach and the Pacific Ocean are amazing. Coronado beach is also a good place to watch breathtaking sunsets.
If you are considering staying overnight there are some really nice hotels and resorts (ok they can also expensive!) such
as the famous Hotel Del Coronado, the Marriott, and the Lowes Coronado Bay Resort just to name a few.
All in all, its a very relaxing destination for both San Diegans and visitors.

Lovely island. Lots of places to sit and gaze at the waterfront. The walk through the area is pleasant. Lots of boutiques and the staff is friendly. Very relaxing.

I love Coronado been going there since I was a little kid!
People are nice and amazing !
They treat you like family
Do:
Subway
The hotel del coronado
The mansion hotel across from the del .
Henry
Little Frenchis

Such a fabulous get away! Coronado is pet friendly, has fabulous dining and shopping. I highly recommend it for a Girl's Weekend or Couple's get away!

Beautiful beach for walking. Lots to see and easy access to parking, shopping and beaches. The Hotel is a must see.

Very nice beach with ample space, easy parking and moreover free if you enter on the navigator only the name of the resort “coronado “ you arrive in front of a small free parking between 2 treasure, access to the beach is free just bring a towel or a beach chair

On my San Diego trip everyone kept telling me to visit Coronado, so I did! What an amazing place. I took the Ferry behind the convention center area (its $5 each way) with departures every 20 mins or so. The ride is about 5-10 mins and you arrive at Coronado. A few steps away from the ferry you are in a small shopping area. If you continue walking out of the shopping area you will eventually run into centennial park where you can then walk about a mile and a half to Hotel Del Coronado. This is THE spot to go to if you enjoy the beach or beach area. It's a beautiful walk down the street to the beach and there are some shoppes, restaurants and such until you make it to the Hotel Del. It is a beautiful property and shore area. Everything is so clean and calm. I visited in early May, so not quite a beach day but there were some brave souls who went for a swim. The water looked so clean and the beach area was freshly combed. Beautiful scenery and fresh clean air. I definitely would recommend as a day trip to anyone v visiting San Diego.

The weather was perfect the day we visited. There was a lot of construction going on around the Hotel Del, so parking wasn't easy. The hotel was as beautiful as I remembered it from a visit 26 years before. We loved the little shops and the ice cream parlor. The lobby was decorated for Christmas and the Christmas tree was stunning. The beaches were clean and not crowded and the town of Coronado was highly walkable with nice shops and restaurants.

This was a wonderful place to visit. The downtown of this island is surprisingly better than the San Diego main downtown with many amazing restaurants. You can take a ferry to the island for $5. There aren’t many activities here but great place to look at, eat and ride the ferry!

Surfing, Kayaking, Boating, Bicycling, Walking along the beaches and strolling through the shops. This area has so many things to do that any outdoor enthusiast should visit the area and enjoy the great outdoors.

The island view was beautiful, easy to walk, and in a charming area. Variety of restaurants to meet most budgets and food options.

We took the ferry from convention centre area to the island ($7/pp each way). Once in the island we walked down Orange street meandering in/out of shops until we reached the Coronado Hotel where we toured around, visited the beach and got some lunch at the hotel. The hotel is a sight to see, the beach is lovely but berms had been created due to high water levels so not it’s usual picturesque self so to speak. People were friendly and we’d definitely go back. A fun morning or afternoon :)

The beach and the fireworks show during the Labor Day weekend were very nice. It was nice that they allow dogs on the beach.

The trip across the bridge a treat and the town itself fun and
fabulous. Drive around and see it as much as possible. Drop
in at Hotel del Coronado if you can, it's history is amazing. You can just have a light snack and enjoy the beach view if nothing
fancy is your thought.

Visited with family and had a great time. Take in the historic ship tours. Did not take a ride on any vessels, however. Lots of things to see and do. Went to a nice hotel beach party. Food trucks and bar sponsored by hotel. Dancing, music, etc.
Take in the WWII information and tourist area. Statues, etc.

I’d say it reminds me of Beverly Hills. Upscale, beautiful beaches and nice stores. You should try to park close to Hotel Coronado to see it from the beach - that’s where Some Like It Hot was played. There is also a guy who builds and castles that are amazing

It was windy & chilly but sunny when my sister and I visited Coronado beach on a weekday. Parking was minimal but not too hard to find on a Tuesday afternoon. People all up and down the beach we’re enjoying their time in the sand and surf. Military helicopters flew by every 10 minutes or so, which was kind of cool. The beach was large and has rom for all whether you want to just lay in the sun or play a game of beach volleyball. Well appointed bathrooms nearby. Definitely worth the short drive (or ferry) over from downtown.

It is a great place to take a stroll. To see all the stores and lovely town come together is really nice. it defintly has a little history to it which you dont see often anymore. It was a great spot to just take in the beauty and enjoy it.

First visit and will return again. Getting around was so easy and quick. You can find everything on the island. Those that live there are so fortunate!

Lots of shops. Great food of all types. Some theater and movie theater. Friendly people. Usually great weather. Great beaches.

It was our first visit to Coronado and we truly enjoyed it! We stayed at the Marriott and had a wonderful view of the water and San Diego across the way. Found some great restaurants and enjoyed being able to walk to most places. The Coronado Golf course was great - rent clubs for only $60! We did not rent a car but used Uber when needed. Can't wait to go back! Enjoy!

Took a ferry over from the city and was able to walk around and see the beach. Worth the trip but the same ole shops and tourist type things to do.

Our family headed west from New York to see our nephew's retirement ceremony on the USS Midway. 7 of us rented a home on Coronado Island. It was near the Ferry landing, walking distance to shops and restaurants, and there was a free bus shuttle that took you around the island.

Had a great time at Coronado beach with my wife and daughter. Spent the day there and ate in the restaurant at the Hotel and toured the hotel. Spent time at the shops and had a great time.

we happened upon this tourist spot when our flight was cancelled and we had an extra day. we will return. this is a cute little island with little shops and cafes and beautiful beaches
it was a sunny sunday before christmas- it was wonderful to see all the people out enjoying the day.

We love to go to the Del Coronado and the beach there. The town is easy to walk around. Nice beaches and views. In general, Coronado Island is expensive.

Visit: My wife and I have been going to the Del Coronado since 2011 for our anniversary. We've gone every year since except during 2 years of Covid.
Experience: The Del has been upgraded since Hilton took it over but all the work looked great. The Shores were still in the works but the construction was in the final stages so issues with those activities. Our room was fantastic with an amazing view of the beach, and we spent mornings and evenings loving the view..
Routine: Each morning we'd get up and have our coffee and a snack and then walk the beach. In the 3 days we were there we then tried out the pool, day bed on the beach and then took chairs and umbrella for a nice beach experience. A relaxing experience at all locations. It would be nice to have one more pool for a hotel that size since it is a family/kid pool, but it was not over-crowded and we had a good time.
Stand out personnel: Doug Ward, super. of concierge helped make our trip the perfect anniversary get away; "Sky" working the day beds and serving food/drinks was upbeat, fun and made our day. Super. of beach (forgot name) was so nice and made things hum along with the beach staff.

This is one of San Diego's great place to visit. The hotel del Coronado is definitely worth staying at or just to go and visit. The beach is pristine and beautiful at sunset for that loved one to walk with,With the sand on your feet and a dog beach at the far end near the base. There is a shopping area called Coronado ferry landing, were there is a place to eat and shop and see downtown San Diego. At night is a beautiful site when San Diego is lite up and a perfect spot for fireworks on the fourth of July. You can take the ferry to downtown San Diego and take a pedy cab to seaport village or downtown San Diego or walk. You can just take a round trip on the ferry back to Coronado. there is a bike rental at the Coronado landing, were you can bike all over the island, the walkway at the landing is very relaxing and it will take you to the park if you head towards the Coronado bridge. If you rent a car I suggest a convertible as you can see a lot more and is great for picture taking and live that California life style. You can take a lovely drive on the strand to imperial beach just drive past the Coronado hotel were they have the famous sand castle contest.Check on the internet to find out when it is.Downtown Coronado has up scale restaurants and nice places for having coffee to relax and people watch. On Tuesday there is a farmers market at the ferry landing. And a lovely golf course with the beautiful views of san Diego for that golfer.

Had numerous people tell us to visit Coronado, and beyond glad we did.
Whether driving of the bridge and taking in the amazing views, or taking the $10 round trip Coronado Ferry, this quaint island is fantastic. Numerous shops, bars, and restaurants to visit. Coronado Beach is beautiful, with tons of space to walk, lay out, or play a beach sport.
The island is easy to get around, and is easily accessed by walking, but MTS buses are available as well.
Go visit. You won't regret it.

toured the hotel with friends. there were renovations being done. enjoyed the beach and lobby of the hotel

Great for dates, singles, married couples with or without kids. Lots of shopping, boutique stores and eateries. Great for day trips or longer stays.

After years of frequenting San Diego and it's surrounding cities, I finally decided it was time to visit Coronado. Long have I heard this is a nice place, but nice doesn't do it justice. It's no wonder this is the "Crown City"...it is indeed the most perfect place and the pride of ownership here and public pride is evident.
The homes, gardens and parks here are pristine and idyllic. The beaches, bays and views are exceptional everywhere. And the way everything is easily within walking distance makes this a trifecta for me. Add to that the astonishingly amazing food options and I was over the moon.
This is my new favorite place in California.

Coronado Island is always a great place to visit. Beautiful beaches, wonderful shops, great food and friendly people.

We took the ferry over on a rainy day and walked across to the Hotel Del Coronado through the neighbourhoods. Our thinking was that we could walk back to the ferry landing along the coast. This became impossible either due to lack of signage or the impediment of the Coronado Bridge off ramps. A bit frustrating but still a nice walk. There are also plenty of shops and restaurants if you want to stay longer.

We had visited Coronado before but never stayed here. This time we stayed at the Marriott Coronado and it was fantastic. On the island, you have the most amazing skyline views of San Diego from the north side. On the south side (about 25-30 min walk down Orange Ave) you have the beach and the Hotel Del. On Orange Ave tons of shops and restaurants- very similar in tone and style to La Jolla.
I was surprised how quick it was to cross the Coronado bridge. It was very convenient to get anywhere in central San Diego.
In the past we tried staying in North County (too far) and Imperial Beach (too far south- a little seedy)
We'll stay in Coronado every time in the future. And even if you don't stay here it is worth a visit- go to the park to see the skyline, and then to Hotel del which is defintiely a must see.

Coronado island is definitely one of my favorite places! I love the shore, the view, the restuarant and the general atmosphere!! Fantastic!

Spent a long weekend here recently. Lots of great views, good restaurants and hotels. Close enough to San Diego to do everything there but also far enough away to be out of the hustle and bustle.
Also a good afternoon trip from San Diego. Plenty of things to do and eat if staying in San Diego.

Nice beach. Too many tourists. Not much to do. Some decent food. Good sunsets possibly depending on fog.

Parks, Golf, Beach, Shops, Restaurants. The island is a welcomed relaxation destination, with something for everyone. I highly recommend exploring the island on day while you are in San Diego.

"We have spent two nights here. We are supposed to be here six nights. The hotel is beautiful. We especially appreciate the elevator system. However, the service is terrible. For the following reason: 1.) At check in, the clerk had a very strong accent. Between the mask, the plexiglass barrier, and her accent, it was extremely difficult to understand her. 2) We received a call while we were out that there was a gift for us at the desk. Because we came in late, we didn't check on it that evening. The next morning at 7 (8 the first day of DST), we were awakened to come get the gift at the desk. When we went to pick it up about 9:30, we were told that we would have to stand in the long line of people who were checking out. Instead, I found a lady who went behind the desk to look for it. She said it wasn't there and they were out delivering the gifts. I told her that we were going to leave and wouldn't be there. She said it was ok because it was just an envelope and they would put it under my door. Then why would they wake us up to come and stand in line to get it if they could have just put it under the door? We have just arrived at 1:00 and the gift isn't here!!! 3.) They are using the pandemic as an excuse to do practically nothing in housekeeping. When we requested some upkeep on our room after two nights, they said they would bring bedding and we could do it ourselves. The only thing they did was to drop off clean towels. We had to request them to come back. So we should pay for six nights and not have any housekeeping done except towels? We are very disappointed.”

Love walking around Coronado. Quite little twin with lots of shops and restaurants. Nice Long Beach area right outside of town.

What a lovely part of the world! The Hotel Del Coronado dominates the skyline adding to the charm of this place. Lovely array of shops restaurants and beach walks this is a little patch of paradise. Not as hectic as San Diego and definitely feels more laid back.

I was lucky enough to live in San Diego for many years. We visited in September 2018 and got caught up in the "Coronado Vibe" within in 15 minutes of walking around.

A great place to visit while in San Diego. Super easy to take the ferry and relax and see the sights while taking in the San Diego skyline. Coronado Island was easy to navigate with its shops and restaurants. We took the bus (free) to Coronado beach. Well worth visiting the island. Its beautiful!

We drove from La Jolla and spent a few hours in this island. We didn't know what to expect and were pleasantly surprised. We walked around, drank some coffee whilee listening to live music. The place is beautiful!

Don't miss this gorgeous spot in San Diego. We walked along the path by the hotel and surrounding areas. The vegetation was amazing, the hotel a beautiful grand lady (don't miss going inside the lobby - it will take you back in time). However, I'm not sure I would recommend swimming at the beach there due to the sewage issues from Mexico that have recently plagued the area.

An enjoyable day trip from San Diego.
If you are staying near the Bay in San Diego, you can easily walk to the Ferry dock. We bought our tickets online so had no need to get them at the kiosk.
The ferry ride is short, but you'll have your cameras out as the views are tremendous. Uncovered seating is on the top level of the ferry and on the bottom are some tables and chairs protected by an enclosed area.
Bicycles are allowed on board and that looked like a fun way to explore the island.
We walked along the water and past the golf course then visited the Coronado hotel and walked back to the ferry along Orange Avenue - tourist shops, restaurants and a grocery store with sandwiches for those of us on a budget. The route we took to and from the hotel is not a short walk so wear good walking shoes.

Enjoyed walking along the main drag, shopping, people and dog watching, enjoying the parks. Very nice places to stop and eat - casual.

The island is beautiful and a great place to get away and wind down. The views from places like the Marriott view the city and the Hotel Del Coronado has huge beaches. Lots of great running, biking and walking trails. Plenty of parks and fun things to do.

Lots to do on the island along with the nice scenic drive on the bridge to get on the island. Coronado beach is nice for one.

Beautiful island very close to San Diego, just over the bridge. From here you can admire the city's skyline but also enjoy the peace and at the same time a few nice shops, sip a coffee and eat a very tasty ice cream.

Take a walk around the island, and be sure to walk through the historic hotel. The hotel has a little coffee shop with great cheesecake, just a few feet from the beach. Grab some coffee and cheesecake, and sit on the beach for a relaxing evening.

Staying with friends/family. Visiting hotel Del. ( some like it hot) is my favourite film. Friendly people lovely beaches. Nice restaurants. Beautiful weather.

Coronado is always fun with it's Beach-y vibe and great resturants within walking distance! A great place for couples and families!

We didn't have a lot of time so we probably didn't experience the best the island had to offer. Nice place though.

The time we spent on Coronado Island was the best part of our visit to the area. We visited for a couple hours using the on/off tour bus and returned to spend a full day, mostly at the beach. The beach was wonderful with gold flecked sand! We walked the length and picked up several sand dollars. We also walked through the shops and had lunch at a Miguel’s Mexican Cantina behind a gift shop...delicious!
We took the shuttle to Ferry Landing and the Ferry back to Convention Center. It’s such a nice island to spend time at.

Park your car and take the free shuttle all across Coronado. While street parking is everywhere, unoccupied slots are difficult to come by.
The quaint, picturesque island is home to several blond-sand beaches, including at the fabled Del Coronado hotel, delightful boutiques, charming residential neighbourhoods, and massive military operations.
A ferry ride to the San Diego main land costs only $5! Make sure to visit the beach parks and ferry landing. Particularly at night the view of the San Diego skyline is brilliant.

Impressive bridge to cross to get their. Visit the wooded massive hotel, impressive to see. Beautiful place with friendly people and lots of. Ice restaurants

We explored a lot of areas in and around San Diego on the trip and Coronado Island was above and beyond my favorite on the trip. The neighborhoods, the beach, and above all the hotel were a great place to spend the day.

- Highlights:
The drive over the bridge gives you a taste of what to expect. Meander through the side streets and take your time. Once you have parked, walk on the beach and enjoy the nice scenery. You may be able to catch see military helicopters fly by every 2 to 4 minutes and eventually a military plane or two. Walk up the beach toward the Coronado hotel and you'll get there in about 10 to 15 minutes. If the sand castle guy is there, you will have to take a picture in front of his creations. Walk up to the front of the hotel and see the inside and take a picture in front of the sign.
- Lowlights:
Maybe a bit cold that day and seaweeds on the beach.
- TIP:
Go through 75 on the bridge then take a left on Orange Avenue to the Coronado hotel. Do not stop there and continue until you reach the Avenida de las arenas. Enter on your right and go to the end of the street to the parking lot, it's free to park there but there is limited parking (about 50-60 spots).

First off it is not an island but it feels like one. There are only 2 ways to get here, by road there are 2 options or you can get a water taxi from near the Convention Centre. Coronado is a gem of a place. There are lovely beaches, a golf course, a big naval complex and of course the famous Coronado Hotel. You can also watch lots of military aircraft activity which can be fun. Lots of good bars and restaurants as well to check out.

Beautiful homes, beautiful beach!! Lots of happy dogs and families playing games on the beach. If you have a couple extra hours you have to check it out!

My wife wanted to see the sunset from Coronado; so we went before dinner this October. It was very nice to sit on the wall along the beach and enjoy those quiet moments.

You will love Coronado island. It is absolutely beautiful and has the very best weather. We loved riding bikes all over the island.

We stayed in San Diego for 3 nights. Our favourite part of it was visiting Coronado island. We got the ferry over which was a lovely little trip. We rented bikes and cycled around the island. There are lovely shops, restaurants and beaches! A beautiful place!

This trip was so easy! My husband and I travelled by Amtrak to San Diego Santa Fe station. We then crossed a block or two and easily found the tickets and entrance for the ferry to cross to Coronado. We spent the day walking the island and ended up at the Coronado Island Brewery. The beach was gorgeous and the trip was so fun!! We are planning to go again.

Don't waste time during peak season, come off season when weather is still nice but beaches restaurants and attractions are less busy, like early fall.

We enjoy our quick weekend getaways to San Diego. This time we stayed on Coronado island. Fun restaurants, nice small town vibe.

Many people did not wear masks especially after dark. Also no one was social distancing. Most of the stores enforced the mask rules.

From the well designed layout to the expensive houses and the legendary Hotel del Coronado, this is a must visit for anyone coming to the San Diego area. The adjoining beach, view of Tijuana and the low flighting planes is a delight.

Points of interest right across from the Hotel del Coronado are Adella Plaza Fountain, the "Sit a Spell" blue piano (one of three on Coronado) and the El Cordova Hotel.
This is also where we rented bikes at Little Sam's Island and Beach Fun.
From here, we rode through the bustling downtown shops area until we reached the neighborhood. The traffic was sparse, the trees shady and the houses incredible. Each one so custom, well loved and special. With an active military base, it was evident that many of these structures are home to those who have served in the military.

Can anyone answer this question? Does everyone from San Diego head to Coronado Island on beautiful weekends during the fall.
PROS: What we liked most is the village is quaint, excellent for walking or cycling, shopping, and unique dining opportunities.
CONS: parking, DID I MENTION PARKING, and on the weekend people.
I was at the del Coronado Hotel for a conference and had planned to stay thru the following Tuesday. Hilton Hotels is renovating the del Coronado Hotel, service was poor, check in was unacceptable. I cancelled my reservation for four additional nights and went to a Marriott property on the mainland. My lady friend arrived mid day Friday. On sunday we spend half the day on Coronado Island. My lady friend wanted to go back on Monday when the island and village were quieter. We enjoved ourselves emensley.

You can take the Ferry or via Car. However you get there it is a great place to walk around and explore and has a world class beach.

Coronado island is a great retreat for beach, restaurants and a calming visit. We were struck with the cleanliness of the island and the nice downtown area.

Coronado Beach CA is a great place to visit in San Diego, lots to do, beautiful, relaxing, lots of great restaurants, laid back atmosphere, friendly people

We went to island and rented golf cart. We seen more things having this golf cart then we would of seen walking. The beach is beautiful. Very wide beach with very pretty sand. We were there 9/2019 and can’t imagine what it would be like in summer. I am sure it is a crazy busy time then.

Coronado is a great town, some great restaurants and shops. The beach is nice but a little wide, great taking a nice walk along the beach. Love the dog park at the beach.

Great place to visit, like stepping into a small town when you cross the harbor from downtown San Diego. Take the ferry (with bikes ok) or drive over the bridge.
Love to ride bikes here, it is mostly flat—there are numerous bike rental places. Beautiful golf course on the bay, but very busy. Lots of sandy beach, limited parking. Wide variety of restaurants.
There are several large hotels, most notably the hotel Del Mar. but also several smaller, more reasonably priced motels. Many and varied restaurant selections, primarily near the Hotel Del and Ferry Landing.

I’ve been to Coronado off and on since the 1980s. Prices now have become astronomical, it’s a tourist trap, overcrowded and too pricy for what’s to offer. I’m sure there are other quaint beach towns that are much better than this that are chill and less stressful. You take your chances walking on the beach and swimming in the ocean due to the contamination levels. I can’t imagine a family coming here to spend any amount of time longer than a couple hours. Things to do: ferry back and forth to San Diego, Dog Beach, Spreckles Park, walk thru the Del and have staff share Kate Morgan stories. God bless our military who practice maneuvers here.

Each place has its flare and energy. This island has both and more to offer. Beautiful beach and lovely homes. A great place to come to relax and get away. I would definitely recommend visiting Coronado island on your trip to San Diego.

Beautiful hotel, old historic hotel. Once in a life time location. Make the most of a long weekend with everything the hotel has to offer. Don’t forget to visit the town. Everything is in walking distance. We made the most of local restaurants/ bars and even a painting studio. Great weekend for couples, friends or entire family. Don’t forget to find discount retail shopping on the first floor.

Our first time visiting Coronado Island. Very nice sandy beach, many great little restaurants, little stores and a tour at the Hotel Del Coronado is a must to see. Look out for the Gelato place, live music and so much to discover.

Stayed on the Coronado peninsula for two nights as part of the final leg of a Californian tour. It is a lovely place with a fantastic beach as well as housing the iconic Hotel del Coronado, where the 1958 Marilyn Monroe film, Some Like It Hot was based.
Coronado is also home to a naval base so you cannot access certain areas of the peninsula. However, despite this I would highly recommend a stay or visit.

I didn’t realize it was an island. Went to the beach. It’s huge and beautiful. Parking is free in the neighborhood right behind beach. Perfect beach.

This town is great. It’s upscale but comfortable. Deep beautiful beaches, great walking paths, nice parks, quaint shops, terrific restaurants, a good theater. It’s great for the afternoon, for a short getaway or a whole vacation.
There is a lot of military activity in the area. We have enjoyed watching the aircraft do drills as well as the boats and ships in the harbor.

Beautiful town for a long walk after a big lunch in Little Italy in San Diego. Took the ferry and walked all around the town. Lovely homes. Nice park. Great spots to eat.

I visited Coronado Island beach, shops, and ate at an Italian restaurant. It was a nice little community area.

We spend three nights on Coronado Island, and enjoyed every minute we were there (except occasionally the traffic). It was a great base for visiting San Diego during the day and dining in the evening.

We come to Coronado at least three times a year. We love being here. It is very casual and has a small town vibe even though it is just over the bridge from San Diego. The main street is Orange Ave and it has cute shops, lots of restaurants and a park. Orange Ave goes straight to the Hotel Del which has the best beach in front of it. The sand is super soft. We always use bikes from the hotel we stay at The Crown City Inn and ride all over the neighborhoods. It is just a fun and relaxful time.

We looked this place! Spent the day sight seeing and shopping. Stopped at the hotel for a cocktail outside on the patio. Beautiful views of the planes landing and the massive sandy beaches! Highly recommend this place!

Miguel's is the closest, least expensive restaurant within a walk from the Del Coronado Hotel (and its overpriced restaurants). If you're staying at the hotel, be sure to visit the concierge and get a coupon for a free appetizer.
The worst thing about the restaurant is the long wait time. We showed up at about 6:30 p.m. on a Sunday night, and had to wait an hour to be seated.
But once we got in, in the food and atmosphere were fine. The restaurant was packed with many large parties of six people.
The food portions are huge! I got to carne asada tacos and my bride got a tortilla salad. She couldn't finish all of it. we're from Tucson and really know Mexican food, and found that Miguel's was okay.

Booked a spa day on Coronado Island because I knew I wanted to go across from downtown SD...
Making my way to Hotel Del Coronado (an absolute spectacle at Christmas), the stroll down Orange Avenue afterwards is just pleasant. A lot of little shops and restaurants to browse and just relax.
I ended up returning again in another day because I liked the vibe that much. For my preference of a chill, relaxed place...I would consider actually staying on that side next time.
A short Uber ride over the bridge from downtown SD gets you into the heart of. Coronado yet it feels very different than downtown. Lovely!

Coronado is a perfect place to spend a week, a day, or even a few hours. If you take a stroll along main town area, the beach, or find yourself anywhere in the island, you will stumble across beautiful homes, stunning views, a decent array of dining choices... All in all, this is something you should not miss if you happen to be if you are in the San Diego area.

The day we went, our first stop was Seaport Village. We walked around the Village and then walked back to take the Ferry to Coronado Island. Along the way we walked past the USS Midway (aircraft carrier) Museum with jet planes and helicopters on board. The ferry is ½ hour & quite in-expensive. We walked around Coronado Island and then stopped for a glass of wine at Peohe’s restaurant prior to boarding the return ferry.

Lots of fun dining and shops with easy walks to get around. All levels of dining with great little stops to formal dinners.
The Hotel Del is a nice walkthrough for shops and lite fare. The most fun is the unhurried nightlife at the ferry landing with great views of San Diego.
Metered parking is pretty cheap but get there early or walk from the hotel. Uber for cross island jaunts.

Firstly, the island begins with astonishing view of big coronado bridge. San Diego is seemed very clear and gorgeous from island which is very green and beautiful. You can see couples getting married around. Amazing island

We rented e-bikes from Fred at Paradise rentals, located in a Marriot Hotel . They need to give that information as we drove around looking for the right spot. We and our 13 yr old grandson rode all over the island. he said it was one of his highlights.

Beautiful place to discover. We did it by bike, whether on the cycle path or in the streets with little traffic it's very good. On one side we can see the Pacific and go to the beach, and on the other we see the city of San Diego. It takes about 2 hours no more.

Get a blanket, picnic basket, some beach toys for the kids and spend a gorgeous day by the wayer.Cross over by ferry or take the bridge and get to Coronado island in about 30 mins from San Diego downtown. Here you will see some exceptionally beautiful homes, quaint little stores, restaurants and the famous Hotel Del Coronado. The boardwalk along the hotel is pretty and you can access the beach from there as well. We caught the sunset on Christmas night and it was breathtaking! Definitely a place to see when in San Diego.

in may there was a lot of construction going on so no pictures that are good. did not stay since cost is so high but their men's shop and women's shop are first rate. for the quality you buying the prices are OK.

It was a nice place to visit, we took the ferry over from San Diego. Beautiful view! We rented bikes and toured the island. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

We traveled to Coronado both via the bridge and up the coast. Amazing little destination with beautiful scenery and awesome restaurants. We enjoyed Spreckles park and gelato. Will return!

Absolutely love the island; in-laws survive here tween-quakes. We love the island in its entirety. What a wonderful place to both visit & love.

Great for a beach visit, walking the island, doing a little shopping, and/or grabbing an adult beverage and soaking in the sun!

It was way above my expectations, we took the city tour hop on hop off And it was perfect! We spent a lot of time wandering here. The sights are spectacular!

Close to San Diego but slower pace, safe, and quiet (minus the military flyovers once in a while). Beaches are clean. Taco stands are amazing. Hotels are very accommodating. Bike friendly town. Best sub sandwich is at the liquor store on Orange Ave.

Coronado Island is beautiful. Clean, quiet and quaint, while just being across the bridge from the busy, bustling, city of San Diego. Even if you can't vacation on the island, visit if you can. Enjoy!

We walked around the streets, visited Coronado Hotel and sat outside for a drink and the views, walked the beach a bit and had dinner. We were staying on Mission Beach, so didn't need much more beach time. We drove across the bridge on the day we toured the USS Midway - that's a definite to do! Last trip out here we stayed on Coronado for a wedding, so didn't need to spend much time here this visit. Worth it but no need to make a day of it. So much else to do especially if there are any children in your group.

Beautiful place to visit! Fun beaches, great restaurants and easy to access. Fun to take the ferry from San Diego with bikes and ride around the island. Lots of choices for places to relax and put your feet in the water.

Unless you stay are one of the locations here, theres nothing to do. So if you do go, feel free to drive over the bridge and back, walk on the beach and enjoy a crowded beach with lots of kids and families if walking close to one of the resorts.

We love coming here. They have a beautiful beach that is very clean and spacious, and there are lots of shops, eateries, and good restaurants. They also have the famous Hotel del Coronado, which looks like a palace.
The streets are congested, and traffic is usually bad, but it's not too far to get from place to place. They have an amazing taco stand just near the hotel at the beach.
The Sheerwater restaurant and Spreckles Sweets shop are fantastic. If you enjoy Mexican food, then check out Miguel's. Great atmosphere and good food.
Overall, this is one for the bucket list. We loved coming here and relaxing.

Spent an evening here during a recent trip to San Diego. Walked and walked and walked on the beautiful beach...had a nice dinner and a late stop for ice cream. Nice area of restaurants and shops. If I return to this area, I think I would plan to spend a few days here.

A mere two miles across the bridge from downtown San Diego lies Coronado Island, an enclave of shopping, dining & sights. Don't miss the Del Coronado Hotel. Plenty of beaches and water related activities as well.

On the north side by the Coronado Ferry, there is a great promenade facing downtown San Diego, plus a seaside strip mall. We rented a four-seater surrey for a leisurely ride along the promenade. Then, on the south side, the famous Hotel del Coronado. Walked along the wide beach and on surrounding streets that are full of eye-catching houses. Note: Parking was easy by the ferry and nearly impossible by the hotel.

Lots of great shopping and fun places to eat. You can easily spend a whole day here or more. A ton of small boutique places to stay that really look fun. Good beach access.

Such a fun place to go experience. We found parking not far from Hotel Del and got to walk some of the surrounding neighborhood. Each home is so beautifuly unique, it was a favorite part of the day to just stroll by them. Scheduling some extra time for that is a good idea.

You can take a cab or small ferry. Island is nice but really nothing special, beaches very crowded. On the island you can take a bus from the ferry station to the sandy beaches on the other site of the island.

A wonderful place, you breathe tranquility although there is a lot of bustle for tourists and the great mobile, but it feels peaceful to walk through its streets, its parks and sea walls.
Highly recommended.

The island is truly a gem. Very fun downtown. There is beach and water all around. Bike riding, jogging, walking, and sun bathing. Top it off with great restaurants!! We love it

Take the ferry from Broadway pier, and in 15 minutes, you will arrive in what feels like a whole other world. There is a free summer shuttle from the ferry down the main avenue to the beaches. Definitely worth taking!
Walk along Orange Ave. there are tons of restaurants, surf shops, quaint boutiques, art galleries etc.
The beach is nice, not great for sunset due to smog\clouds/mainland in the way of the views. Dunes are pretty. Walk along the boardwalk to the iconic Coronado Hotel.
Spend a day outside busy San Diego, it feels like a quintessential summer thing to do!

Worth the visit... Location of where they filmed Some Like it Hot. We both enjoyed walking the grounds and inside the hotel. There are a few place to eat on the island with views of the bay. Very relaxing.

This is a great place for a half day trip.
A lovely promenade for walking, great beach, plenty of interesting shops and a number of restaurants

OMG! LUXSA Thai Spa 2 months new as of September 2019. My husband and I went there for the first time and had the BEST MASSAGE we have ever had! We frequent massage parlors quite a bit over the last 20 years. We got the combination Thai/Swedish massage and felt relaxed, stretched and rejuvenated. Can’t really explain the euphoric sensation. A must experience for everyone! Highly recommended!

Beaches are beautiful and lovely to walk around. Orange avenue has great restaurants and small shops. January weather 65-70 degrees, needed light weight sweater.

This island is very quiet. Just a few hotels, a large beach, and mostly homes. There are a good amount of restaurants on the island and it is a short car or ferry ride to San Diego.

A nice oasis in the San Diego area. Located 15min from downtown Coronado Island is a unique island with a large Navy Base, parked Aircraft Carriers, lots of Navai Aircraft Activity. The Famous Hotel is also located on the island, along with a 18 hole golf course and many shops and eateries

We drove across the bridge to visit a small part of the island. We walked around the park and admired the skyline view of San Diego. We ate at a little BBQ place near the ferry landing.

Coronado Island is really more of a peninsula than an island as it is connected to the mainland by a thin silver strip of land. It is directly across the bay from San Diego proper and east of Cabrillo. The Island is well known as a resort community and has several stunning beaches with various facilities, the Hotel del Coronado, the US Naval Station, a wonderful leash free beach for dogs, and is just visually stunning. Best accessed by the San Diego Coronado Bridge as it is an exciting way to get on island. If you have the time and want to explore and relax, it is a great destination. We found lots of beautiful shells and sand dollar skeletons.

We had only been here 1 other time in the 1980's. This time we came with our adult cousins and were able to enjoy the Adult scene. The design of this historic place is beautiful. Very nice to see everything and all the beautiful flowers and plants.

Take the bridge or cross over on the ferry. The ferry docks in the shopping area. Lots of places to grab a bite and relax. Hotel del Coronado is about 3 miles from where the ferry docks. If you don’t drive over to the island you can take an Uber to the hotel. There is also a trolley that goes through town.

Free parking on street right along the beach. Few places to eat or shop right on beach except for hotel del area. Tacos at beach shack yummy and bar selections good but very pricey($6 coke) nice to sit on beach and enjoy tacos and beer.

A refreshing place to visit. It is clean and offers many places to eat and shop. Rent a bike and explore the island and enjoy the stunning views.

A great place to visit. You drive over a huge bridge with good views of the navy ships. The island is very relaxed with great beaches, lots of shops, cafes and restaurants. Worth a visit if you are in San Diego

My daughter and I loved this island and what to come back again for sure. Relaxing with fresh clean air and a great small town feel.

During our San Diego trip, we took Uber over to Coronado to visit Coronado island during July 4th weekend. The cost for Uber was about $15 one way from San Diego Bay. Coronado is great for beach with the popular Coronado hotel at the center. Many stores and restaurants to visit. Great stop if you're in the San Diego area.

What a beautiful place to holiday. We stayed on the island while down to visit the zoo.
We certainly intend on returning for a longer duration holiday. Great restaurants and shops - everything felt so clean about this place.

Coroando Island is great for all ages
They have a great beach, nice restaurant
You can walk everywhere
We love it here

Mr. Spreckels was one of the founders of Coronado; he saw it for the jewel it could (and did) become. Not short on cash, the sugar baron pulled up his stakes from Hawaii and set forth on a never-ending venture that still continues today, although with restraint and oversight by the city fathers. No scrapping of history under their watch!
We have walked one end of the "island" to the other. Orange Avenue is the main drag. Although it technically isn't a real island, it is a peninsula. It's on the south end where Coronado is connected to Imperial Beach but, for all intents and purposes, it "feels" like an island.
The Naval presence here is huge. It seems like about half of Coronado is cordoned off in the Naval preserve. Coronado Island has some of the priciest real estate in all of California. It combines the Art Deco style of the 1920's with the home-town charm of small-town America. We could just picture holiday parades, like the 4th of July, with folks sitting on the curb, waving small flags, and watching proud service members and floats coming down the street. It just feels that good.
Coronado has probably some of the best weather in all of California. Love it!

We were in downtown San Diego for a conference and decided to visit Coronado Island for the afternoon. We took an Uber for about $10 so we could drive over the bridge. The views on Coronado are beautiful and the Hotel De Coronado is definitely something to see. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping in the area. Our favorite part was the ferry ride back to the bayside. The views are awesome.

Coronado is so cute. The homes line the streets. Traffic was heavy but we walked down the main street and visited the Hotel del Coronado also.

This was my first visit to Coronado Island and the beach was wonderful. Although it was cold even for us being from the East coast but impressive. The homes are beautiful and the Coronado Hotel is amazing to see even from a distance. There is a ton of shops and restaurants and really easy to drive around with little traffic most likely given the time of year we went. I would definitely go back during the summer months to fully enjoy the beach.

I stayed on the island for a long girls weekend. The beach is gorgeous but the water is freezing! We ran around the island and felt very safe. We shopped and dined at several places; all very nice.

Expensive for average everything. Beautiful environment. God bless the US Military who train and operate amidst the excess.

My family and I recently spent 2 weeks on vacation in Coronado during a work conference for my spouse. We are so glad we got to discover Coronado! We stayed at the Best Western Plus on Orange Avenue. If you want to see a lot of the island on foot, I would recommend staying on Orange Ave. for convenience. There are some fabulous stretches of beach, nice boutique shopping, fantastic restaurants for any taste, and lots of parks/playgrounds to keep kids busy. We had so much fun and will definitely be back!

What a fun spot to spend a sunny afternoon. Walked up and down Orange Street visiting the shops, ate at one of the restaurants. Visited Hotel Del Coronado. Found a spot of the beach all our own to collect some much needed sun!!!! Even the bridge you drive over to get here was fun with great views of the bay, the city and the ocean. Love this spot. Next time we come, we will stay here on the island.

No parking. Noisy. Over priced. Crowded. Beach filled with people and with sting Ray's. Sidewalks barely capable of one way traffic. Oh, did I mention the rays?

Love Coronado Island!! It was a real chill place, friendly people and the food was great! I loved the close proximity it waste everything!!

We enjoyed walking around Coronado. The many shops were interesting and the scenery was beautiful. Fairly popular so parking can be difficult.

This is one of my favorite places to visit when in San Diego. Take the ferry to Coronado and stroll a couple of miles to the southern beach. Enjoy the cool weather, the parks and the cafes along the way.

Perfect getaway... beautiful beach, great restaurants and shops. Fun, scenic bike path to take in the island from all perspectives. And so close to the activities and sites in San Diego!

This is a beautiful island moments away from San Diego. There is a large navy presence here. The beach is nice. Parking minimal. Very populated.

In order to be an island you got to be surrounded by water if you were connected to land you are a peninsula! So for those of you that think you're going onto an island you are mistaken and they are totally false advertising

Not really an island but a peninsula connected on one side with a strip of land where there is an important military base that borders the whole beach, while on the other side a 3 km bridge. Very pretty town, well maintained where they shot parts of the film of topgun, clean streets and low houses typical of America. Equipped beach that ends with the beautiful El Coronado hotel of 1900 where Marylin also stayed: super luxury, very expensive typical American of those years but very very nice.
Many bars and clubs for a nice walk

A beautiful place to enjoy a romantic evening walk or dinner. We took the ferry boat on one Saturday evening and it was really pretty around sunset leaving from San Diego Harbor. We did not even have to pay the ferry fee to come over to this charming place. It was random luck as we found Coronado to be a warm and unique place to explore and enjoy the beautiful San Diego city views. We would definitely love to come back to this magical resort destination again and see more.

We came here at least twice every time we visit San Diego. We park near the hotel del Coronado and check out the beach. This allows us to be near nice restrooms and also able to grab a snack or ice cream. The beach is amazing (although sometimes it can be heavy on sand flies). Great place to be if you enjoy watching military aviation. Parking I have to say can be difficult during the nice time of year and it seems a bunch of very short meters have been placed on the back streets (like 12 minute parking). There are a variety of bars, restaurants, hotels, shops and coffee shops on the main avenue to walk down. We really enjoy Miguel Cocina for food.
I think there are some shops and places to eat by the ferry landing but we really never go to that area.

I is a bike tour. It’s a very quaint island. If you visit do a bike tour. The Main Street Petange is very quant with lots of restaurant options.

This is my second visit to Coronado and it's still one of my favorite beaches. I love the lil town. The architect. The restaurants and shops. It's great place for families, even the furry ones.

We strolled all around town, the beach and the Hotel Del. It was a 20K step day! Everything was very scenic. The shops are reasonably priced and the storekeepers very welcoming. Lots of poinsettias planted in the common areas just for the season.

Awesome place to stroll around with a variety of eateries, beautiful views of Sand Diego skyline, very equipped during holidays though. Ferry available to get to the downtown.

We traveled to this island via the Old Town trolley. Thank goodness too. Gas on the island runs $4.85/gas. Parking is at a premium too. Good luck trying to find a spot. We traveled there for the beach and put our feet in the Pacific. We’re NorthEastern people. Long Island. We only stayed an hour. I wanted to stay longer. From the Hotel del Coronado you could rent chairs: $20/day. Beds$200/day. Expensive. They’re aren’t any beach restrooms but the hotel is accessible. After the beach, we ate at Juice Crafters, on Orange. I enjoyed an Açaí bowl. My husband ate at Pokè123 an new and upcoming Asian Create Your Own bowl. We noticed the island is pet friendly. There’s shopping.

Stayed in Pacific Beach but was told to check out Coronado Island while there. We visited the island crossing the famous Coronado Bridge. Nice view from there. Once on the island we walked to the Hotel and Checked out the Beach. Both awesome sights, beautiful beach, white sand and cool looking sand castles were built. We then rented bikes; they have a very nice bike trail that takes you to the Coronado Bridge area and back. Great views there as well. While it would have been awesome to stay there, it was much too expensive. The rooms at the Hotel were closets unless you spend $700 to $1000 a night for a small suite. Room value is not an option on Coronado Island compared to other beach front Hotels in San Diego unless you have money to blow. For a visit and sightseeing, 5 star, but If I stayed there it would be 3 star due to the money it cost and less value for that money. Definitely go and check it out if staying in the area however.

Our 21st visit to Coronado Island. This place is great for families, especially young children. Everything is clean and you always feel safe. My children kept wanting to come back as they got older...that says everything (my youngest is now 21!)

Large navy helicopters flying 100ft over the Beach the entire time. Literally every 5 minutes another one comes to land and takeoff again. These babies are big and loud too. Worst of all is they fly well past midnight. WELL PAST MIDNIGHT.
Gorgeous beach and island but the experience is greatly impacted by these damn helicopters. We live near an air force base with f16s and they at least stop flying by 9 or 10.
Will never return for an extended stay.

We enjoyed our electric bike tour with Ken on his woody’s. Saw done beautiful real estate, the Coronado hotel, military bases and learned the history on our tour. Nice lunch overlooking the bay at the chart house. Lots of cute shops too!

We’ve spent the last two summers on Coronado Island and we’re in love. The quaint town is filled with friendly shop owners, adorable shops and delicious restaurants. It’s a relaxing escape from busy San Diego, but only minutes away from the city of you want to explore.
While you’re on the island, be sure to check out the Hotel Del Coronado (“The Del”). No visit to Coronado is complete without a stop, or stay, at the historic resort.

We loved strolling downtown to find a restaurant for any meal. The marina is stunning to see. The people everywhere were over the top friendly.

We come to Coronado Island every summer!! It’s our happy place.
As soon as we are on the Coronado Bridge we are in heaven. I parks my car and don’t see it until we leave to go home. We bike and walk everywhere!!

Quiet, clean, beautiful inside and out, stunning view.. we drove around and walk some miles, just amazing such a beauty exists, no wonder there is the very expensive Coronado resort and spa there to pamper you up on the beautiful beaches and what not.

We took the ferry from the Broadway St. Pier, as we were staying in town without a car. It’s about a 15 minute ferry ride along the waterfront or you can take the bus as well. We walked everywhere but you can also rent bikes, e-bikes, golf carts & mokes. Really spend some time exploring all the beautiful houses on the island. We went to the Del Coronado and explored around there. They gardens and lobby are beautiful and they have a lot of pictures showing the hotel from many years ago as well as famous people that have stayed there. We had lunch at the Sheerwater restaurant in the hotel, it was very good and a has a nice view. We walked along the beach as far down as the Naval Base and back. We would have loved to stay longer but the sun had set so we headed back to San Diego on the ferry. We hope to be back again.

Great spot to spend the day relaxing, browsing, eating, and simply enjoying yourself, yourself, your company, and the California coast.

We loved Coronado. Beautiful large clean beach. Great choice of restaurants, shops and bars. Definitely the best location when staying in San Diego

The island has a variety of shops and restaurants. We enjoyed an easy 45 minute or so stroll through a beautiful and interesting neighborhood from del Coronado to the ferry station.

I was born on Coronado and even though it means driving across the bridge instead of driving onto a ferry boat, every time I arrive back in Coronado I am reminded of what a special place it is! First and foremost, it's completely walkable, so ride the bus over or better yet take the ferry and spend a day across the bay. If you're not inclined to walk or have kids, fear not. Bikes can be taken on the ferry for free or you can rent a bike at the Coronado Ferry Landing complex. In summer months there's free hop on / hop off bus service that circles the island all day. If you come over on the ferry, you'll find the bus stop just outside the parking lot entrance to the Coronado Ferry Landing. It will take you down Orange Avenue all the way to the Hotel del Coronado on the opposite side of the island. En route you can stop at Spreckels Park. On weekend mornings there are loads of local artists setup on the lawn, selling their creations and on Sunday evenings in the summer, there are free concerts in the gazebo. The concerts are well attended, so it's a good idea to pack up a lunch and spread a blanket out early.
There are lots of shops and restaurants along Orange Avenue. Many have sidewalk seating which are great for people watching and enjoying the normally great weather in Coronado. On your way to "the del" (as the Hotel del Coronado is referred to by locals), stop at the historical society and sign up for a walking tour of the island. Most begin and end at the del. Once you're back at the del with free time, go for a walk along the beach, have a drink on the outdoor deck overlooking the grounds and the ocean, and wander through the hotel and The Shops at the Del (a collection of unique and classy beach oriented shops at the del).
What else is there to do? Golf along the water, go kayaking in the bay, ride a Venetian style gondola through the Cays at sunset, watch the sun set on the Pacific Ocean from the del or take in dinner on the bay side and stare at the beautiful San Diego skyline by night. I know it sounds like an ad from the city tourism department, but there really is something for everyone on Coronado... families with kids and couples without (if only for a day) will enjoy it! I haven't touched all there is to do by a long shot, so Google the rest and/or check out tripadvisor for more suggestions.

Always beautiful and a great place to visit. I highly recommend checking it out when you visit San Diego.

The Island across the water from down town , when you think of tropical you thinks of Hawaii or the Caribbean ,but hole on ! Coronado Cal have that tropical feeling, great weather, long , long stretch of white sand beach , hotels , restaurants , golfs , nightlife
And like any tour destination “ traffic “
( worst on big holidays) 4th of July is the best time to visit the island ( the most patriotic city in America ( my opinion)
No crime to speak off and the best of all you can walk anywhere

Coronado Island is one of the must visit places in San Diego. We have seen San Diego from sea with Sunset cruise and from the air with a private plane ride. But actually walking here on the island is a completely different feeling.
The beautiful park and the hotels here made the island garden paradise. Many people come to just enjoy the natural beauty of island and others would come to ride their bikes. We came to just enjoy nature and to eat here.
We love the restaurants here. For coffee and tea, there is the Coronado Coffee Company is right next to the ferry terminal. This shop services amazing coffee. They also provide soy or oak milk options for your coffee.
For food, we ate at the Peohe's Coronado. The foods were fantastic and very reasonably priced. The California style foods they offered were amazing and tasty. I had a Japanese bento with Teriyaki chicken.
There are two ways to get here. One is by driving through the Coronado bridge and the other way is to get on a ferry.
Parking is a bit tough here. So the best option is to ride the ferry here. Ferries depart every 30 minutes from the convention center and every hour from the Broadway Terminal. You can get you tickets online or get them at the terminal kiosk.
We had a fun day by just walking around and visited the the famous Del Coronado Hotel.

We stayed the weekend for my daughter's college graduation and I am glad we picked staying on the island. We walked everywhere, choosing local restaurants (variety), bakeries and outdoors activities. We loved comparing our fitbits. Really enjoyed Orange Ave, We even felt safe at night walking from Orange Ave back to our hotel. Not the best beach or waters, but is durable for a weekend.

This was the best idea to have a little beach with a little Christmas. We went ice skating and the music was helping keep my falling down cusses under control. My heart is full and butt is bruised.

The Hotel del Coranado is an atrocious hotel. There is MASSIVE construction going on, which we were not informed about upon booking. They have turned the open spaces into massive low-end money making tourist attractions. There is nothing high end about this hotel. We had no hot water in our hotel room and were told that it could not be fixed. We checked out early. We were offered zero compensation for the construction noise. We offered to pay for a room upgrade upon arrival and were told there was nothing available, but then when checking out early they offered us a corner ocean view room, that was ten feet away from out Kristina’s room. This was after repeatedly telling us zero upgrades were available. We were done left early, there were also safety concerns as the buildings away from the main building have no security and the key swipes on exterior doors on buildings allowing anyone from the beach to loiter in the lobbies. The rooms are atrocious and the service is worse. The people on the phone are rude and condescending, specifically Joesph. Do not waste your time and money.

Easy to access via flagship ferry from San Diego. The ferry is $9 per each way. We rented bikes and followed the bike path around the island and sat in central beach for about 45 minutes. Multiple restaurants and also made a stop at Coronado brewing which offered a large selection of beer.

If if you get the chance to visit one of our favorite places we've ever been! Beautiful weather, Great Beach, plenty of restaurants hotels in shops. Everything is an easy walking distance.

Took the bus across the bridge into Coronado island which was really easy, $2.50 each way or you can get the ferry back if you wanted a change, $ 6 dollars each way.
This is an amazing island and beach with the oldest hotel in America, a must visit 👍

Wonderful location. Spent a week here. Close enough to go to the sites in the city but has an island vibe. Feels very safe. Recommend for families.

Walk around the beach, the boardwalk and cute shops in town. Beaches are clean and not crowded during the week. Very relaxed vibe and very clean. The island is 10 minutes from downtown San Diego. Worth a day trip or just stay on the island.

We are here for Christmas, a lot of people ! Many puppies too. We have been to the hotel 15 years ago. Thought was different impression . But times do fly as well. We enjoyed .

This is a beautiful Island town with lots to do and see. We love riding our bikes around the town, the restaurants are good and the shopping is fun.

The island has a famous hotel that was built in a shape of the titanic ship, and the resembels is incredible !
On the beach you can have a bon fire and its absoulutly nice hanging

So much to do & see in a small. manageable , walkable area! Variety of activities for young, old, & in between in aperfect climate!!!

Beautiful place to come and stroll the beaches with small children. There are walking paths by Hotel Del Coronado that are wide enough for strollers or bikes with carriers for kids. It is a quaint community with good schools. You’ll see a lot of military people walking around and a lot of helicopters and jets flying in the sky. Beautiful place with lots of wonderful restaurants and quaint shops. Something for all to enjoy!

So many things to do here. Play golf. Walk the parks. Eat. Shop. Beach. You could spend a lifetime here and not do it all.

The Hotel del Coronado is quite open, with shops and an ice skating area. It is also a good spot to observe fighter jets, helicopters, and naval vessels at the beach. Fighter jets land and fly low over the beach aiming for the landing strip close by.
But there is no use to walk out to the south along the peninsula. This area is closed to the public.

Coronado Island is a very nice place. You get a ton of different varieties of foods and travel experiences. You are very close to delicious Mexican food at Miguels and delicious ice cream at Moo Time.

Gorgeous sights, great shopping, everyone was so friendly. The diverse real estate with the Pacific Ocean backdrop is simply memorable.

Beautiful day trip. We went on a Wednesday and had a lovely time on Coronado which seemed like a perfect little town on the beach. After we drove around the island a bit we found parking near the main shopping street Orange Street which is full of cute shops and restaurants. We strolled, shopped and ate a nice lunch and later went to check out the Hotel Del Coronado. The only downside was that the beach was closed due to contaminated water - so better to plan a day at Pacific Beach if you want to go in the water.

Beautiful city. Literally one of my favorite places in the world. Be prepared for big money. And the city is out to get you with $75 parking tickets. No signs, no painted curbs, just a nice welcome parking ticket. Thanks for visiting

Would love to live here. The homes are so cute, the downtown is pretty. Make sure to walk the Del. Rent a bike and bike around the island. Fun place to check out

Hard to get a long run in on the beach since it has several military installations scattered along the beach, but absolutely lovely.

We stayed at the Del on Coronado Island and enjoyed the pristine beach that lies in front of the hotel, the warm ocean and their fun beachside bar-deck. You don't have to stay there to enjoy the island though!
On our 3 day trip we found walking up Orange Avenue - away from the beach, was really enjoyable. The assortment of quaint restaurants and small boutiques took us 2 days to thoroughly explore. We also spent one entire day doing the beach walk and dipping into the ocean.
The most impressive part of Coronado island (at least the end we explored) seemed to be how pristine, clean and classy the area was. No dirt or litter, friendly employees in the stores and restaurants and beautiful houses lining the avenue.
We felt safe, enjoyed our time and will definitely return for another visit to explore more of the island soon!

We hadn’t been back to Coronado since 2019. There were so many fun things that we enjoy visiting that are still there. Moo Time, Burger Lounge, the adorable movie theatre, etc. We were sad to see La Salsa didn’t make it through Covid. Lots of changes happening/happened at Hotel Del Coronado. The Garage was new to us & fantastic.
If you want to visit Balboa Park/zoo it’s just a quick ride over the bridge. The best thing is you can pretty much walk everywhere. There are bikes to rent if you want to go that route.
We were sad to see you cannot swim in the ocean right now due to sewage contamination.

Coronado is a lovely relaxed place. The beaches are great and there are lots of little stores and restaurants. There are also lots of lovely beaches and great sand.

Make sure you visit the Hotel Del when you are in Coronado. The Christmas decorations are so beautiful this year. There is a light show in front of the hotel right on Orange Ave - it even “snows”! You can ice skate outdoors next to the beach. There are these cute igloos to rent. Just make sure you bring lots of $$$

Wonderful and safe area to walk and bike. Pretty houses, parks and great restaurants. Dream about living here....

Lots of stuff to do here we enjoyed the beaches, food in city and a nice walk thru town. The boutique shops were very nice. If in San Diego and looking for something to do this is it.

It's fun to drive over the bridge to the island. You drive so high and it's so beautiful. Coronado Beach is probably the best around San Diego and the food in the area is really good too!

Me and my friend went biking around Coronado Island, visiting the hotel, eating their famous ice cream, visiting the beach and hanging out by the ferry terminal. We had a great day, everything was beautiful, fun and exciting.

I took Lyft across the bridge and took the ferry back. Definitely recommend the ferry for much better views of Coronado and the San Diego cityscape during your ride. The 'island' was nice. Several shops and eateries as well as a small beach near the ferry landing.

From the Coronado Hotel and beach to strolling the streets, this is a beautiful and quaint spot to visit. I was not scheduled to stay on the island, but would like to next visit!

Fantastic vacation destination - super chill, friendly people and gorgeous beaches and sunsets!!! YES!

We met our don and 4 year old grandson in SanDiego. We spent one afternoon on Coronado Island and loved it. We walked on the beach and had lunch at a darling Mexican restaurant.
We all loved the island and it is on the top of our list for our next visit.

Last day in San Diego and we decided to stop by and see the beach. So glad we did! The sand felt like powder between our toes and looked like someone add some gold glitter.
Well worth the trip!

Coronado Island is the place to visit for sun, fun, people watching, dining, shopping and so much more. The Navy base is great -- our military is the reason we have freedom! I buy all the soldiers free coffee when they are in line to show appreciation. The dog beach is nice too. Keep those doggy doos down at one end of the island. The sands on the island have gold flecks (i think it's fool's gold but maybe it's real). The Del is a famous hotel and a must-see, which is why there are so many tourists speaking foreign languages and making it very crowded. But that means it's great!! Golfing is good too.

After 18 months of COVID sequestering, we needed a relaxing vacation, and a week on Coronado Island was just what the doctor ordered. Beautiful beach, very nice restaurants with plenty of variety, incredibly easy to get around without a car.

Traffic is a bonafide nightmare - probably the worst in any resort area I have ever seen in the US. Shocking really. You can't pull out from ANY of the side streets without risking "life and limb". Very surprised this was a MAJOR issue of my second visit, once again. They've got a SERIOUS circulation problem they need to take really seriously IF, they want the tourists to continue to come...VERY disappointed - never gets better!

We came to San Diego for a graduate. My friends mom lived here about 15 years ago and hasn’t been back until we went in October. She told us to come to Coronado island. What a beautiful place and we enjoyed walking Around and stopped to check out the local restaurants. I definitely want to go back again

Very good destination for a day or even a half day trip from San Diego. Quiet and walkable. I took a ferry and really enjoyed the short ride. San Diego is awesome seen from the water. The iconic Coronado hotel shouldn't be missed. I bought the ticket about one hour before boarding the ferry and there wasn't a long line (there may be later on in the season).
The only downside was the ticket I bought at the ticket window. I had to go to another kiosk nearby to get another one. Luckily, I had the time to do that, otherwise I would have missed the ferry.

This is a must see when you visit San Diego. There is just so much history and culture in the hotel. Whether you stay here or not, it is a great experience to have a meal here and experience the ambiance.

Coronado Island is nice to visit, with lots of opportunities for shopping and the Hotel del Coronado is quite beautiful. Actually, the best part was taking the Coronado Bridge to get to the island. It’s worth the trip just for that reason alone.

From the Midway museum on the harbor, take the ferry ($5/each way) or grab an Uber ($14) and spend an afternoon in Coronado. The big strip is Orange Ave. On the far end of Orange (a nice 10 block walk from the ferry terminal) is the visitors center and the famous Hotel Del Coronado. Definitely check that place out. A few good restaurants on that back end also with shopping everywhere. We were here in December and mid-day was glorious weather. Must be insane for non-winter months. Definitely go!

Lovely beach, nice shops and restaurants. Lovely vibe. There's a trolley stop and a nice hotel - El Cordova!

David's comment below is incomplete and inaccurate. Coronado WAS in fact two islands - north and south. North Island was completely surrounded by water and South Island, while semi attached on the south with the sand berms and sand spits of the Silver Strand, was also an island at times of high tides and winter storms. During WWII, the Spanish Bight (causeway of water) between the two islands was filled in and in 1939 the Silver Strand was filled in so the road could go through to IB. No need to think it is some kind of conspiracy or rip off to hear Coronado called an island. It WAS an island. Knowing history is a good thing...

This place is BUSY! If you don't like traffic or crowds, then I would avoid Coronado Island altogether. We did just a drive-through of the island because of this, but still felt like we were able to see what we wanted to see. The Hotel Del Coronado is as beautiful in person as in the pictures (though it was undergoing construction when we went, so the scaffolding took something away from its beauty). There are a TON of beach areas around the island, so if you're looking for one, this place might be a good stop. There is plenty of parking, though I'm not sure how much any of it was because we didn't end up stopping. If you like looking at homes, this was also a good place to do that! Nothing too extravagant, but nice nonetheless. The bridge to get there is a bit spooky if you don't like heights. I recommend trying to use an inside lane if you have a tendency to freak out. Otherwise, there are fabulous views from the bridge to enjoy!

The comfort is unreal, the service superb. I cannot wait to come back and am so sad to leave! One of the best “hotel” experiences of my life. Not cheap, but worth it.

Stayed in San Diego but road the train out and it was beautiful!! Enjoyed the rainy day seaside and the food! The business owners were very nice.

Wonderful place to visit in San Diego. It is a short drive from the San Diego harbor/downtown area but worth a day trip. The beach is gorgeous and if you visit at low tide you can observe sea life.

We rented some bikes so we could do a big loop of the whole island and it was totally worth it!! The oceanside is bike friendly for the most part and there are some nice beaches and some military bases that wrap around the coastline. I’d definitely do this bike ride any day as it only took about 40-60 minutes.

We chose the Del Coronado Hotel for our family vacation. It was a perfect place to relax and reconnect with all our family members. In addition to the hotel restaurants, there are lots of restaurants on Orange Avenue. Everything was within walking distance.

I visited here to go to my friend’s retirement about the USS Midway, and stayed for the weekend. The island is absolutely beautiful and pristine. There are tons of great restaurants and shops, and the beach is amazing.

I love this quaint little island! It has a small town vibe to it. It's full of beautiful old houses. Pretty much everything is within walking distance of the beach, which is a plus side because parking by the beach is limited. It also has the Hotel Dell, which is a breathtaking historic hotel that is so fun to walk through even if you don't stay there. There a lots of affordable little bed and breakfasts on the island to accommodate any budget. This is one of my favorite places to visit in California!

Coronado is a unique island. Only small part of it is open to civilians but it’s probably my favourite spot in USA. You can find here a mixture of old tiny houses (worthless if located anywhere else) as well as beautiful mansions worth millions of dollars. You cannot miss historical hotel „Del Coronado” and a beautiful wide sandy beach in front of it.

Do not miss the opportunity to spend some time here. very walkable or bike to all attractions. Quaint, quiet, relaxing.

It is a little slower pace, and much more relaxed than San Diego. Gotta go check this place out. Wonderful beaches perfect for a wedding!!

Coronado island is a beautiful winter vacation spot. Gorgeous weather chilly enough for a sweater but not too cold to deter a quick dip in the water. Stroll the lovely neighborhoods and admire the different types of architecture that runs along the main drag. Definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful place, relaxed and enjoyable, very cool spot. Next time this is where I want to stay! You can walk your way around or take a casual drive either way it is enjoyable sightseeing!

All of the San Diego beaches we visited were exquisite and offered their own unique views. Most were surrounded by cliffs with limited shoreline. This one had really long and wide shoreline. There’s also a long sidewalk and lots of umbrellas & benches. This is where you go if your just looking for a lazy afternoon on the beach, sunbathing, building sand castles, skipping rocks on the water or taking a nice jog/stroll.

I love Coronado Island and the Del section of the city. The beach is great. The Del has finished the entry, front porch and lobby area of their renovations. However, the rest of the Victorian section is under construction and covered with scaffolding and coverings. It is due to be done Spring of 2024. There is a new three story hotel with rooftop bar going up across the street.

Always fun and relaxing on the island of Coronado lots of dining options and walking. Great little shops to get unique gifts or items.

Amazing hotel, great location for this iconic magestic hotel.
We had a cocktail on the sun deck, citrus cocktail. Amazing views, then did a walk along the beach and through the iconic hotel.
Would love to stay here, definitely worth the drive over the bridge to see.
Parking is busy or valet.
We parked in the street right opposite, parking meter 2 1/2 hrs 85c.
Great day and highly recommend a visit.
Traffic was very busy leaving the island so be prepared to be patient.

We just love Coronado Island. There are so many fantastic restaurants and shops, though some are pretty pricey. However, it is easy to get around, and the ferry to the mainland is very convenient. We walked a lot and it is so easy to find one's way around. Highly recommended to visit

A gorgeous little island community built up around the hotel Coroanado built in late 1800's. Nice beaches and very relaxed atmosphere.

Beautiful island, well cared for, maybe a little noisy at times but beautiful, we will come back! Relaxing beach.

We stayed on Coronado Island during the coolest and wettest week of the year, but still loved the little island.
The mile of Orange Ave between 8th St and the Hotel Del Coronado is fully of locally owned restaurants and shops. There are lots of great options in this little section.
We loved Clayton’s Coffee Shop (vintage diner) for a classic breakfast and Leroy’s had great drinks and fantastically prepared appetizers and entrees for dinner. We took advantage of their happy hour, which was great. Street parking is available at only $.25 per hour.
Hotel Del Coronado is over-priced and over-crowded, but beautiful. (Our stay there was not good, so I don’t recommend booking a room). Park along Isabella Ave and then walk to the beach access for a stroll along the ocean and views of the Hotel Del.
This area makes for a wonderful day-trip, or weekend away. Bring your walk shoes and your flip flops and enjoy the friendly vibe!

We explored the island by driving from one end - the Border Field State Park to the town of Coronado. There are beautiful beaches the whole length of the island. It is possible to take a ferry across if you only want to visit downtown, it might be a good idea because parking can be challenging...especially on the weekend. There is also a lovely walking bike path on the island.

Pleasant place to visit. Lot of good food, shops, people. Great history and cultural activities. Great beaches and architecture.

Take the ferry to Coronado. You can get the ferry from right next to the Cruise ship terminal 5$. Once there rent a bike at Hollands and bike to the Del Coranado. Walk around but don't eat there . A hamburger is $29.

They offer a free shuttle bus to the hotel so you get a view of the little town and a nice walk through the hotel grounds. the public area of the island is lovely and we enjoyed the walk.

Spent hours walking the downtown streets plenty of shops to go into or just window shop. Old fashioned book store was where I rested had a coffee and people watched. Also at sunset sat down on the sand and watched the sun go down. Loved being here at this time of year not crowded can find parking and still good weather. Walked along the boardwalk near the ferry landing the views is tremendous.

With the iconic Del Coronado hotel in the background, this golden sand beach is absolutely stunning and beautify.

Beach is clean with plenty of food and drink options within very short walking distance. Chair and umbrella rentals are available at reasonable prices. Great beach for finding shells and silver dollars.

Nice beach with calm waters. Restaurants are very good, make reservations in advance. Family friendly, great dog beach. plan ahead to schedule activities. The beach does smell a little fishy. Not a good sunrise or sunset island. Lots of Navy practice so helicopters/fighter jets are loud and come around quite a bit.

You don't need to go to the other side of the island for the beach
The water is warmer near the ferry center. And this is also where you have many restaurants and shops.
Of course thr beach is good on the other side but not worth to go all that way there.
Note public transports are free in summer.
Double check the dates.

Coronado is a beautiful place, with shops and restaurants and gorgeous beaches. It is easy to walk to everything. Stroll on the sand, enjoy the Hotel Del and just soak up the sunshine. Such a perfect slice of Southern California!

Yes, I highly recommend Coronado Island. Very quiet while we were there. Great place to relax, shop, eat. Everybody so nice to visit with. See you another time

I was astounded by how beautiful the gold sand was on the beach! In the mornings it is not very busy and it is beautiful to walk around. I think between 9 and 10 it starts to get crowded and is VERY crowded in the afternoon. It is still very fun and there is a lot to do there! If you drive from San Diego I suggest planning on most of the day there.

Beautiful little place. Lots of shops, gorgeous beach and many restaurants. You need a car or ferry to get to the Island,

We stayed on the side of the island facing San Diego. There was a nice boardwalk for walking and nice views of San Diego. There is also a ferry to go back and forth between San Diego and back. On the San Diego side the beaches are rather small.

Loved Coronado Island. Quaint friendly lots of very good restaurants, happy hour, shops, easy parking. Although it was off season, still quite alot of people. Parking easy. We stroll through the town and took advantage of the weather and had a romantic walk on the beach. Definitely look forward to visiting again during the beginning of the summer

You can play pickleball at the Marriott hotel wellness center where they have a bunch of really nice courts. You can either reserve the courts for $24 for 2 hours OR play during open play from 8am-12pm Mondays and Thursdays for $6. When we first went to check in we were told it was $85 per person for a day pass. Once we told them we just wanted to play pickleball we were told about the $6 open play time...best deal ever!!! Even better is that you can take the ferry over from San Diego for free during the commuter time...before 9am. Otherwise, it is $7 each way...which is still a great deal! Loved walking all around Coronado Island and the beach was beautiful, although a bit chilly.

The month of February was delightful on the island. Not overly crowded, cool rather than cold weather. Beautiful scenery!

We drove from LA to San Diego and Coronado was one of the plan to see.Once we passed over the Coronado Bridge,it seems like a heaven. While you are walking along the streets, you feel the atmosphere, that is very relaxing, lovely and friendly people all around.I’d live here forever 🤪

Lovely afternoon on the island. We walked from the ferry to the beach. It was a long way but there is a free bus if you need. The farmers market on a Tuesday was special with an abundance of fresh fruits and flowers. We bought from here for lunch. The beach and sea were delightful but crowded. The hotel was pretty but crowded. Definitely allow a day or longer to enjoy.

We visited Coronado Island on a Sunday with the advantage parking meters are free on Sunday. We quickly found a spot around the corner from the visitor center. We walked and toured the island enjoying the views, stores, and restaurants. Touring the Hotel should not be missed.

Add the following to the review last night. ANTS! All over. In the bed on the night stand. This place just wants from a horrible review to BOARD OF HEALTH should shut them down. PERIOD. Manager "cant be located" by front desk to discuss. Seriously!!??

Gorgeous! A must see and add to your bucket list. Watching baby seals swim the island was epic. Bond fire on beach was priceless.

Enjoyed our day in Coronado. Beach is very nice and the del hotel is worth a visit. Nice hotels and a pleasant vibe. Would definitely return

Roads are narrow with mostly street parking..lots of DIPS! Some dips are quite deep. Odd angles at many intersections. Watch for bicycles.
Lots of cute shops and they have a dog beach.
Took the ferry over!
My daughter and I took the ferry over to Coronado, walked to the Hotel del Coronado, then walked along the beach, where we found whole sand dollars! Beautiful beach, and the hotel is exquisite! Enjoyed a drink and a sandwich at the Hotel bar, overlooking the ocean and hope to be back again!
