I've gone twice now and both times I haven't been very impressed. Each time the pathways were very crowded. It's nice for having a relaxing day where you bring a picnic and stroll about, but I can do that at a public park for free. The ticket prices + parking fee are way too high for what you get.

I am a little disappointed to be honest because we were expecting to see nativity or any other Christmas theme display. Dont get me wrong, the 12 days of Christmas gazebos were spectacular and the songs too. On the other side coffee / hot coco quality / price overrated. Still a great place to walk and relax with all those trees.

If I lived here in Dallas I would have a season pass. Was pleasantly surprised in late October how much was still blooming. Well maintained and water features make it peaceful.
Very festive with the pumkins and fun place to go and loved the setting on the lake.
You need to reserve parking so pay attention to where and which parking area. Could be confusing.

This is a beautiful arboretum. We love morning walks through the gardens and afterwards enjoy a light lunch at any of the little cafes. Fall will certainly bring on the famous pumpkin patch. This is a Dallas treasure. Watch for dates for free parking as parking can be pricy, limited and frustrating. It can also get crowded during special events and staff can get pretty crabby.

Looking to get a taste of Christmas cheer while in the Dallas area! Look no further than the Arboretum and Botanical gardens! This lovely space transforms into a Christmas wonderland for the last half of the year.
My mother and I were in town for business and were looking to find something to do for fun. We weren’t sold on going to an arboretum/botanical garden in November but due to the lack of things to do in the area, we gave it a try. To our surprise, the Christmas season was already being celebrated.
We walked through the 12 Days of Christmas, each represented in a unique way. We were also able to enjoy the Christmas tree show (even in the daylight) and the Christmas village.
Would love to come back here during the spring and see all the beautiful flowers blooming.

Definitely recommend a tour at the DeGolyer Estate. A beautiful home with thoughtful design, and it’s nice to be indoors with AC on. The garden is managed well and easy to walk around.

The family and two young boys all enjoyed the trip to the Arboretum. Wonderful memories and pics to cherish always!!

The Aboretum is a nice place to spend a crisp Autumn afternoon. Unfortunately, I missed the fall festival, but still enjoyed seeing the pumpkins lined up along the path and the Peanuts exhibit. It was very relaxing to walk around the gardens, and the tasting of cornbread and relish was a nice surprise. One tip from another Tripadvisor traveller that came in very handy was to purchase the parking fee in advance, which saved a few bucks.

My daughter was married at the Dallas Arboretum and it was just breath taking... Very special place for us all... We've been during the different seasons and it never disappoints...

When we arrived it was awesome they had hot chocolate and coffee and they were passing out Christmas hats. Christmas is the celebration of the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ; and Jesus was no where to be seen. I was expecting to see a Nativity scene and was disappointed to find a politically-correct sanitized "holiday celebration."

The Dallas Arboretum is not just a Dallas treasure but a national one. It's stunning, and because of its sheer Texas size, it's a good place to visit during the pandemic.

Over all the aburetium is beautiful. This is specifically geared towards the pumpkins and children's area. The pumpkins are just so/so, the year prior to Covid (with snoopy) was amazing, and now it is just another pumpkin patch, not much to speak of.
The children's area that you pay extra for is a let down and a big disappointment. 75% of the interactive activities don't work. Children become frustrated and disengaged. The lack of care and up keep through the children's area is sad. We hope that as much time and detail that is put into the grounds will be put into the children's area to make it a memorable experience and make one come back time and time again.
If you question should we go or just pass, pass for now as again majority of the interactive features do not work.

We took a family outing to the Christmas exhibit and it was well worth it! We loved all of the decorations! The German-inspired Christmas market was fun to walk around in and explore. Even in the winter, this was a great family-friendly venue!

White garden party, cotillion, Fall festival, quincinyero....name the occasion; it has happened here. The gardners know when and how to display the magnificient colors of fall, spring and winter auburn. What more could you wish...perhaps a summer white party with pefect 70 degree readings? Hmm; make it so.

Such a beautiful place! Very expansive and immaculate grounds filled with color, history, and stunning views. Got to participate in a tour of the familial home of the Dallas DeGolyer Estate which was breathtaking and educational. Definitely recommend visiting, but come prepared for the Texas heat!

I went here with my two children ages 11 & 13 and a friend with her two children ages 2 & 4. The gardens are beautiful, even in the fall. We did the children’s garden. My children enjoyed seeing stuff they had previously learned about in school. Her children liked the hands on activities and the play area for the younger children. We had lunch here. Food was great, although not cheap. There are vegetarian & vegan options as well. I had the grilled portobello panini. It was beyond any expectations. The 12 days of Christmas was cute. My favorite part was all the foundations and water incorporated into the gardens. Very relaxing & serine. We will definitely be returning.

Had a wonderful afternoon out here. High was 92 and doable. $2 entrance fee was a super deal. Enjoyed a picnic with my teen daughter next to one of the creek exhibits. Can’t wait to visit again.

Cool spot to check out. Quiet and interesting things to see. Just my husband and I attended. Not sure my kids interest would’ve been kept there for too long though.

We had the best time walking around the Dallas arboretum. It was a beautiful day and they were getting all decked out for Christmas! 12 days of Christmas and a village along with the other beautiful exhibits in the gardens.

Beautiful setting on the lake and some nice landscaping. Children’s garden was a disappointment. Parking easy. Worth a visit if in town and time to spare, need about 2 hours.

Dallas Arboretum is a botanical garden along the shore of White Rock Lake. It is full of greenery, water fountain, water bodies, decorated gazebos where one can spend quality time and play with kids. It is more fun during the flower season and also festivities when the 12 days of Christmas and the entire garden is decorated and brightened with lights. There are Cafes where one can try drinks, coffee, ice creams and snacks. A must visit to any tourist to Dallas.

Great day, beautiful well kept place to visit.
Only one drawback, no paper maps are available for mapping layout or information.
The info booth offered us only QR code for a map on your phone. If you have a small screen on your phone or don’t have a phone you’re out of luck.

It was wonderful. I didn’t see a single adult walking around without a mask, and they counted people entering the pumpkin patch. The grounds were just beautiful, and I felt very safe. We had no problem social distancing.

I visited the Dallas Arboretum the week before Halloween on a pre-arranged tour with a group of friends who are specialists in ikebana (Japanese flower arranging). All of us were non-Texans. We’d looked forward to seeing and learning about native Texas plants. However, that wasn’t what we got.
The arboretum staff hadn’t been told, or didn’t remember who we were, so we were shown lots of pumpkins, given a half-hour tour of a big house on the property, and treated to a taste of food cooked from plants grown at the arboretum. What we mainly saw were lots of rather formal gardens, with ordinary fall flowers, and a huge number of pumpkins lining every path.
The guide explained that the Arboretum has experimental gardens where they test non-native plants to find out whether they can live successfully in Texas. When plants are found that are compatible with the Texas environment, the Arboretum staff tell garden shops so that those plants could be sold for people to grow in Texas. I asked her whether non-native plants might pose a danger to native plants. No, no problem, she replied. We test them to be sure that they can survive here.
Wrong answer. The issue is not whether they can survive, but rather whether, surviving, they endanger native plants.
The guide had told us that her main job was arranging weddings and other kinds of parties in the garden (“sometimes I have to do these tours”), so I suppose I shouldn’t have been surprised that she seemed to have no understanding of what I was asking.
The food-tasting was a good idea. Recipes were available for people who were interested and could take a photo of the recipes with their phones or cameras.
The final stop on the tour was a special area with many, many pumpkins, themed around the Peanuts cartoon characters. Those in our group who were Snoopy fans took lots of photos.
As we were driven around the Arboretum, the guide pointed out many gazebos that were covered in canvas. Those were being set up for Christmas displays, she told us.
Honestly, I’d expected something more scholarly.

Nice colorful park in the city. It is a great place to spend a few hours. We were surprised how busy it was for a weekday. You must reserve in advance, including your parking. A lot of people bring in their lunch. Nice place for a picnic.

Visited this place many times before but this Christmas time visited with our grand kids .It was true pleasure visiting this place .Even their Pumpkin show during halloween is worth visiting

I went here with my mother. It was breath taking. The gardens, water features, sculptures are all well maintained. We had High Tea with champagne during our visit. This was an absolute highlight of trip to Dallas.

Holiday at the Arboretum is running at the Arboretum through December 31st, however, the Christmas Market starts November 27th which features cute little houses with themes (like a Hat Shop or a Candy Shop). You can visit Santa on a limited basis (check website for current times). The 12 Days of Christmas automated displays are set up around the park. Bring a blanket and have a picnic on the grassy area overlooking the lake.
In response to Covid, they have implemented a one-way trail with signage along the way. Water fountains are closed so be sure to bring water bottles. Bathrooms are limited in number of guests. Distancing is encouraged but not enforced.
Reservations are required. Be sure to add parking and Children's Garden tickets if desired.

The grounds are huge. Probably the biggest botanical gardens I have gone too. Good mixture of plants, flowers and other features like fountains. Great views of White Rock Creek. Plenty of spots for a really nice picnic. I will say the cost I felt like was a little steep. Entry was $25 plus $15 for parking. Not sure it was totally worth it.

The pumpkin patch was so adorable and planned. We could see that the Christmas decorations were being set up and they look to be spectacular. Such an amazing place - fabulous restaurants, gardens, waterfalls, fountains! A beautiful place to take family and friends, or to have your wedding or reception!

Wonderful!!! Was a hot day but we found plenty of shade. Pumpkins were out. It was just gorgeous. Went to the children’s area which is more for little kids but my 15 and 10 year olds still enjoyed it. Cafe was excellent. Highly recommend for an outing.

Excellent visit to a lovely place! I was surprised by just how much there was to see. Beautiful flowers, plentiful shade, awesome hammocks and a really cool historical house full of knowledgeable volunteers.
We visited on Saturday afternoon and spent around 2.5 hours walking the park. I was inspired to try to build something beautiful in my backyard based on the tranquility we experienced. I really enjoyed the hammock park where you could crash in any of the 100+ hammocks under the shade trees. The historic Degoyler house was so impressive to walk through. I almost felt like I was transported back to the mid 1940s. Trails are kid and stroller friendly.

This is a beautiful garden right off White Rock Lake, which the lake itself is beautiful. I have enjoyed many of their concerts and park exhibits. Get your comfy walking shoes on and take in the view of the many flowers and trees on display. It’s a MUST SEE and a great outing for the whole family!

As a first-time visitor I was exceptionally impressed with these gardens. First, the location is magnificent as it overlooks a lake. Second, it is very well designed with many types of gardens--all well done. Third, all of the staff/volunteers are very friendly and helpful. It is a real joy to visit.

I visited this wonderful garden last week. Most of the tulips were finished but the Azaleas were in full bloom. Such a beautiful spot by the Lake, wonderful views. The staff were very helpful. Also, has a very nice gift shop and the cafe looked good. You could easily spend a few hours. I was able to get there by public bus. (all day bus tickets are only $6) There is a bus stop at the front.

We spent a few hours here on Saturday. The pumpkin displays were really well done and the little ones enjoyed the hay bale maze. It was crowded but the lines moved quickly. Our only regret was we didn’t know we needed a separate reservation for the Children’s Garden so didn’t get to see it.

Beautiful place. Very nice scenery and much to see if you’re a tourist or a local.
Wear your walking shoes cause you’ll do a lot of walking. This place is a PARK.
The suggested time spent mentioned at top of page of 2 to 3 hours is enough for a walk or stroll but not enough for a tourist that wants to see at least half of the Gardens.
I gave this a four star because I didn’t see anywhere about there being at least 4 entrance gates. I went to Gate 2 which the website suggested and came to find out that it was closed and was wrongly directed to Gate 3 then was directed to Gate 1 which forced me to drive back into traffic in the streets. Website should update which Gate is open daily so tourist would know exactly where to go.

The gardens were lovely to wander through. I am bummed I missed seeing the tulips due to a storm that had passed through the previous day. If it wasn't for impending rain, I would have wandered more.

Beautiful as always, make sure you buy your tickets in advance during COVID, they will be sold out if you try to buy them in person.

There's a Christmas Village made for kids where beverages and snacks are sold. The surrounding park has sohisticated carousels themed after the 12 Days of Christmas. This activity seems to be made to appeal to kids rather than adults. Quite pricy if you don't have little kids.

Our worry was about the control of the pandemic protocols but everything was in order as everyone was on a mask and social distance was observed. The pumpkin 🎃 were well displayed out. Coming back soon with my family after pandemic.

Stunning landscape gardens, sculpture and lake views throughout the property. Children and Women's Gardens were particularly enjoyable. An iced tea at the restaurant capped a lovely experience.

This is a lovely garden. I was here at the end of April during the “Dallas Blooms” event and the garden was, I am told, at its peak. Lots of flower beds and borders in flower plantings. The emphasis is on picturesque displays and elegant design as opposed to botanical diversity. The level of maintenance is quite high for an American botanical garden: the lawns are uniformly green and cleared of fallen leaves and the flower beds and plants are kept clear of weeds and are in good condition. Hedges are nearly trimmed. Everything looks very nice. It’s worth a visit. I visited in mild pre-summer weather and it was packed with people taking pictures so may be best to arrive at opening.

Went for the pumpkin patch/fall 2018 exhibit and took family for photos. 100k pumpkins or so makes for a pretty amazing backdrop. Beautiful. Parking was simple/easy. Get ready for a hike though if you want to walk thru the entire park.

We set out for what we hoped would be a festive fall day at the pumpkin patch, but instead, it turned into a logistical nightmare. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with utter chaos. Cars were circling like vultures for parking spots, and this was on a *Friday afternoon*. I shudder to think what weekends must look like. After finally finding a spot, check-in was surprisingly straightforward, but then the confusion hit—$16 for parking, and we were told we needed a receipt to leave. Yet, when we exited, *nobody* checked! What a pointless and frustrating money grab.
The cherry on top was the complete lack of direction. We weren't even given a map—nope, not a single one. We had to wander around like lost souls until an employee informed us that they only had a *handful* left to last them the entire weekend! For a place this large, it’s absurd that no one thought to prepare better.
As for the pumpkin patch itself? A cramped, overcrowded corner that was nowhere near big enough to handle the crowd. Sure, small children might get a kick out of it, but for anyone else, it's a miserable experience. By the end, I was counting down the minutes until we could escape. Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend this place, let alone return. What a waste of time and money!

This is one of the most beautiful places in Dallas. I am a local and we go regularly. Our membership has allowed us into lots of gardens around the country and this is still one of our favs! If you travel to Dallas in March you have to come and see all the amazing tulips and other spring blooms! Quite a show. If here in December, the garden is a real treat with its 12 Days of Christmas "snow globes" The grandkids are enchanted with them--much more so than they are with Santa, who also makes appearances!

We visited during April 2021 and were disappointed. We have been to other arboretums in other cities.
FYI, $15 per person for entry and $10 for parking. As we approached the gate to enter, a representative let us know we had to purchase our tickets online. We purchased online through our cell phone at that point. We then proceeded to the gate and showed a representative at a window our online order before being let in. Why have someone at the window if the customers must do all the purchasing online on their own?
Considering the price, we were expecting something better. There were a lot of shrubs, and a very small selection of the same flowers throughout the park. We visited during the Spring and were expecting tons of flowers. There is a small vegetable garden, but again considering this was during the Spring, I was expecting a variety of vegetable plants, and was let down. Getting around the park is confusing- you are given a map, but there are no signs, so you are not quite sure if you have made it to the destination you were seeking.
This place is overrated.

These grounds are scenic, full of blooms, water features, and smaller mini gardens. Because it was $5 daffodil days it was especially affordable. Many lovely spots for photos, and several photographers were there taking pics of couples, quinceanera celebrants, brides. The arboretum looks out onto White Rock Lake. Definitely worth a visit! There was even a really good gypsy jazz band playing called La Pompe. The prices can add up if you pay regular admission and need to park. My favorite place in my short trip to Dallas. The also have afternoon teas which looked fun.

Amazing Venue, beautiful views would come here every day if I could. Wish they had more fitness offerings but overall, very happy with my membership.

Really cool displays for Christmas!! Terrific gift shop. Would love to come back in the Summer! Great place for tourists and locals entertaining visitors.

This is a beautiful, peaceful and relaxing destination maintained to the highest standards with excellent staff and volunteers, highly recommended

This was my first time at the Arboretum and it was a beautiful place to explore, even in the late fall/early winter months. The 12 Days of Christmas Gazebos are fabulous and such a wonderful interpretation of the classic song. Day 5 was definitely my favorite.
The German Christmas Village was also a very fun place to explore. Kids (and adults) would find something fun to see/do/experience in the Village. I didn't make the stop, but I'm fairly certain that Santa can be found there, too.
We also took a self-guided tour of the house on the grounds. The Christmas decor inside of it was amazing! So well done. I'm sure it's also a cool place to explore during the non-holiday time, but the Christmas design was fantastic. I really loved the library.
Finally, we went to a cooking experience and that was so fun! I thoroughly enjoyed watching the chef show us tips and tricks. The major plus was that we got to sample his simple and fun creation!

Covid.
What more can be said about that subject.
But all was not lost as I enjoyed all of your videos of the gardens that we were unable to visit this past year.
Words that come to mind, heartfelt, beautiful, impressive, stunning.
Mr Forehand, your love of the gardens showed and I cannot thank you enough for the tours you provided us. It was one of the best things of this entire year and provided us a glimpse of this special garden. I cannot wait to come back and visit. Heartfelt gratitude ❤️

One of the top attractions you should see! Beautiful displays exist around each corner. You'll see unique displays that you have never seen before.

The park is huge. It's very beautiful. We were there in autumn and the highlight is the pumpkin patch: it's super charming! To do on Dallas.

LOVED IT. We've been to many beautiful botanical gardens in North America, including Butchart in Victoria, the Chicago Arboretum, and Kingsbrae in Saint Andrews Canada. While the Dallas Arboretum may not be as impressive as some of those, it is outstanding and well worth visiting. We loved the Dallas Blooms in mid-March 2021 (after the big freeze), and enjoyed seeing lots and lots of tulips and other flowers what was previously a beautiful estate along White Rock Lake. THE ONLY PROBLEM WAS WE PARKED IN LOT 4 (underground) and did not realize there were 2 entrances. As a result, after walking around for a couple of hours we faced a 1/2 mile hike back to where we parked in Lot 4. We do suggest parking in lot 4, especially if you have kids or are pushing a stroller. You will enter near the Children's Adventure area, so exit near the Children's Adventure Area. We did not and had to walk 1/2 mile along Garland Avenue.

They are not taking COVID-19 seriously. Crowds are insane, even though they have time slots, and people are not wearing masks, even though they are required. I felt very uncomfortable. Additionally, the grounds are not well kept - worst botanical gardens/arboretum I have ever been too. The pumpkin exhibit was a let down, just piles of pumpkins, not a work of art. NOT worth the money or the time.

Beautiful landscape and garden attraction plus the Holiday lighting and Christmas village addition gave it an additional bonus. The 12 days of Christmas displays were incredible. Well worth the visit.

Amazing gardens! Worth it even if you aren't a plant lover. Such a variety of types and colors. Many different types of gardens, walking paths, and areas to just sit and take it all in.

Beautiful view any flower you can imagine and it tell you what every one is originally from if ur a florist like me u will love it

It didn't take long to get in. The areas are beautiful and very well kept. The pumpkin patch was well done. They need signs that the pumpkins are not for taking. They also need signs stating this way to this garden as we were lost most of the time. The map is maybe ok. It kept getting more and more crowded. Restrooms could have been cleaner. There is an automatic 3% convenience fee added to your lunch bill.

Always love visiting the Arboretum and Gardens. The grounds are very kept, plenty of space to picnic and great views of White Rock Lake with sailing boats. Only complaint, not about the visit but some people refuse to self distance and block walking paths making it difficult to pass. 5 Stars though. A great way to spend a couple hours.

Despite being well kept, there's not much in bloom and the arboretum itelf is fairly boring as these things go. It does not delight with follies or a great sculpture collection (a few intersting pieces, but not many in comparison). No other attractions except - and this was the saving grace from 'poor' - for the DeGloyer house. This WAS interesting and made up for (part) of the $25 admission fee - which included parking, though honestly with the controls in place this day, one wonders if one could have simply skipped that and been fine. The house is not huge (as much is now offices and a cafe) but it is interesting and the tour, if a bit canned as larger group tours tend to be, was worth taking. It's the grandson who really spearheded the effort for preservation. He appears, as does his sister, as a child in a master bedroom portrait. Do make time for this. Otherwsie, better to leave the place for fall decorations or Spring.

We spent a great afternoon checking out all of the exhibits and garden's. A great landmark of Dallas and very worth the time to visit for all ages! The volunteers were all amazing and did such a wonderful job of ensure we all had a great time.

There is so much to do and see here. A wonderful experience for everyone. Be sure and come for the pumpkin patch, or the amazing Christmas Displays.

This attraction is well kept up, beautifully laid out with intricately made statues. Lots of plants, many of which are beautiful and smell great. Also great incorporation of waterfalls and fountains. Relaxing and serene environment. I recommend going in the morning or toward evening to avoid the hottest part of the day.

Went on a Sunday for Autumn in the Arboretum. We made required reservations and paid almost $100 for 4 adults and one toddler and parking. We were extremely disappointed in lack of crowd control. The arboretum was extremely crowded. No way to social distance. Masks required but no enforcement. Too many people were having photography sessions for their special events That should not be allowed on a crowded weekend as it delays access to popular sites and causes long lines and more crowding. We found a nice secluded spot for a picnic and made the best of it. There needs to be a better plan for Christmas at the Arboretum.

I purchased daytime tickets by accident that cost me $51 and they won't switch it over to nighttime tickets that actually came out to $48. That is so ridiculous that they won't help the customer out when they have the space available. We spoke to somebody on the phone and also somebody named Daisy who provided no help. We also emailed Kaylyn A who didn't help as well.
Really sad that it's the holidays and even for a holiday event they won't accommodate, it will be literally impossible for us to go during the daytime. We purchased it in error and the nighttime preview tickets were $3 cheaper so they aren't losing any money.

The beauty is stunning here. My son proposed in the water garden in December and no place could have been more perfect. We had a wonderful backdrop for pictures of the special day. After, we had a family brunch at the DeGoyer house and the food and service were fantastic. The decorations for the Twelve Days of Christmas are so well done, I have seen them in the day and at night is simply magical. This is great for kids and adults as well.

Beautiful place, landscaping was amazing! Squirrels were also having fun.... loved the view over the lake

They are not honoring discounts with AHS membership, even after I double checked before purchase. Really disappointed. We've been before and has similar issues so I'm confident this isn't isolated.

An absolutely wonderful experience for the entire family. The usual excellent customer service from all the workers at the gardens. We have visited three times this year and their restaurants are wonderful with very pleasant menus which are fairly priced. A well worth visit for everyone.

This place is a wonderful garden to take your family or just go for a stroll yourself. I was amazed by how many flowers that were in plants. It’ll take you well over an hour to just walk through. If you have children there is a children’s area which you’ll have to pay extra for, but it has, some different activities for the kids to do.
The staff were super nice and helped me find their area I was looking for . There is different restaurants to eat at and also many bathrooms.
There’s also an area where you can get on a hammock for free .
This place is at 10 out of 10 and I definitely will come back again for sure .

Summer is probably not the best time of year to come to the gardens unless you like to sweat. The day we went in June was 100 degrees and a heat advisory but when you’re from out of town you do your best. I feel like we did not see much of the garden because of the heat. What we saw was beautiful.

We saw great reviews of this place and since we were in Dallas, we wanted to see it for ourselves. There is a lot to look at, and the day we were there, the weather was uncooperative and cold and much of the foliage was not in full bloom, so it was not the greatest experience of you were looking for flowers in full bloom. The place is very well maintained and is a peaceful calming experience. We also toured the DeGolyer House and the docent gave an excellent presentation about the home and grounds. Dallas was fortunate that this acreage was saved from commercial or residential development as it is a beautiful oasis in the city.

We visited in October. It was the most gorgeous thing! The pumpkin patch and fall-related plant and flower arrangements were amazing. We had a great family time!

Parking was easy and both parking and admission were very reasonable.
Endless water features, amazing variety, well manicured, lots of spots to
Pic nic out relax, in great shape even at the end of summer, friendly staff.
Will definitely return in future.

This is one of the hidden gems of Dallas. Take it from a local. My family and I go throughout the year and never tire of it. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Plus there are always seasonal events going on that are a lot of fun. They do a concert series in the summer that is always a huge hit and is definitely worth checking out.

An old friend invited us to have lunch at this place before we go home to Houston. Its very beautiful and the environment looks amazing.
If I move to Dallas, I will be here all the time like my friend.
It's a must-stop when you are there.

Anytime is a great time. Best in spring when flowers bloom. Also great during fall/halloween when there are a million pumpkins lined up. Checkout Cool Thursday concert series.

This is a beautiful Botanical garden, such lovely views over the water and so many nice seating areas to relax and enjoy the scenery Have a house on the grounds that is free to tour, and the children area looks awesome, It is a separate fee from the main garden fee, but people with children seemed to really enjoy the area

The gardens are lovely. Always something new and different to look at. Different seasons you will see different displays and different flowers and trees blooming.

We visited for the Holiday Lights. This is a very well done display with the 12 Days of Christmas and so many lights on the trees. The large tree synchronized to music is a bonus. The cost is great for this event. (Living in Indy and going to something similar with less display costs significantly more.) We also went into the house on site which shows a huge collection of nativities and absolutely worth it. The only disappointment was the food situation. From the website, we expected something like food trucks that would then allow for a picnic-like situation. There really isn't any food, so we cut our visit short in order to seek out dinner.

Always beautiful, and enhanced since last visit!!
Gorgeous plants and flowers in all seasons. Just wandering around you will find so many unique views and different environments.
We have been coming for decades, and it always makes us feel special!!

We visited here from around 3 - 5 p.m. on a Saturday. We had spent the earlier part of the day flying to DFW and checking n early at the hotel, so we were only able to fight the traffic and get to the Arboretum by around 3 p.m. '
This was also the weekend before the eclipse, so they apparently had some themed activities (mostly for kids) going on that day. The place was packed, but I can't judge whether it was normal or excess... There are multiple parking lots but the police had some blocked off. We ended up making a U-turn and parking in the 3-level deck just across from the main entrance. I'd probably recommend this as a default, as it was quite large and features a tunnel that goes under the road and connects to the Arboretum, so that was convenient.
When you walk up they have multiple ticket booths. We spoke with a helpful lady who accepted the national gardens pass that my wife had bought for this year - it apparently covered this one. You should ask for a map - we didn't and just relied on sign-maps and following crowds. It would have been helpful to grab a paper map, though.
Near the entrance is a side-path to a children's garden section. This seemed popular, with a splash pad, etc. Our child is in her 20s so we didn't spend much time here.
The general layout is that you progress along a meandering axial path that is segmented into different spaces. There are lawns, floral areas, gardens, groves of trees, occasional fountains, etc.
They have a large café with a patio, though we did not eat there.
There were a number of groups having large picnics on some of the lawns. There was also one area where a jazz combo was performing and people had brought blankets to sit and watch from a large sloped hill. There were also a surprising number of groups taking wedding portraits or in some cases just 'glamour shots'.
You'd probably need multiple visits to do this place justice, but it was a fun and scenic area to relax on a weekend.

The fall display featuring the Peanuts comic strip characters was really nice - and well done. And of course the 90,000 pumpkins, gourds, and squash added a lot to the display throughout the gardens.

Beautiful scenery! We sure did enjoy our time at the botanical gardens in Dallas. It was a nice place to walk around and enjoy the beautiful views. There was a lot of shade and plenty of places to sit and enjoy the flowers/plants!

As out of town visitors we discovered this activity. We went in the evening ( bought tickets on line in advance), to see the.Christmas display. It is really well done. There are 12 gazebos each decorated as one of the 12 days on Christmas song. There also is a well done Christmas village. There you can get a beverage incl wine and beer, a few food items, and a few specialty items from vendors. It will get very crowded after thanksgiving up to Christmas; go early if you want to miss the big crowds.

This was a wonderful garden and park. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. It is peaceful and well kept.

What a beautiful place to walk in every season that I have been there. The special events like the Christmas Village and Dallas Blooms are well worth the entry fee. The volunteer staff is knowledgable and helpful. It has been a blessing to have this available during Covid.

Over half a million bulbs planted, and now in full bloom. Absolutely beautiful. The arboretum it wonderful any time of year but when the spring bulbs are in bloom it’s extra soecy

This place blew us away! Even with very little in bloom, the property is absolutely stunning. We will be back for sure! Highly recommend to just grab a drink, wander around, or sit and bask in the sun next to one of the many waterfalls!

This a great place to go walk around and look at the beautiful flowers, I love to go year around! My favorite time is Christmas they do a wonderful job!

It’s definitely worth going in the fall to see the pumpkin display. The pumpkin display was in a different location this year and there was a lot more space to enjoy everything. As always, the displays were very impressive. There were plenty of photo opportunities this year compared to in the past. Since you had to get a timed ticket in advance, it wasn’t too crowded.

We went before Halloween and there were pumpkins of all sizes all over. It is not just for children but also for the young of heart. Very unique and with a theme ( this time it was about Charlie Brown.

I celebrated my birthday at the Dallas Arboretum. It was the best birthday I've had in years. The serenity, the beauty of the gardens was like a glimpse of heaven.

Visiting the Arboretum in the spring is truly a breath of fresh air. The scents of all the flowers is indescribable. I try to go through the week to aviod the crowds. Find a quiet spot and simply inhale. As you stroll, enjoy all the colors and don't forget the camera!

We showed up on pick your price day. The lady at the front desk was very helpful and nice! We saw some insects, snakes, and of course the butterflies! We pretty much had the place to ourselves. There was also a "creature encounter" where we got to see a mantis up close and ask questions. Would recommend for kids and families.

This is a fantastic arboretum. You should definitely take time to visit it if you are in Dallas. It is filled with amazing water features. The Spring blooms are fantastic, including tons of tulips and multiple cherry trees. We covered most of it in two hours, but you could definitely spend more time and there are many comfortable places to sit and relax and take in all the beautiful scenery.

Very beautiful. Grounds are very thoughtfully arranged. Loved the selfie stations, but wish there were more of them. It was unbearably hot the day we went, which put a slight damper on the visit. Would love to go again!

Incredible gardens, many species of plants, flowers and trees.
We had a pumpkin exhibition, everything was very nice.
It is well worth the visit, as a couple, family or with children.
The staff is friendly.

Frustrating and no class! My daughter and her boyfriend got tickets for the Christmas night experience. It rained all day and the powers at be who run the Arboretum would not give a rain check for another night time set of tickets. They would only give day time tickets. Makes no sense. No class. College kids trying to have a nice night yet were told go in the rain. I am sure the board at the Arboretum is made to do the same.

Fall at the Arboretum was a wonderful outing with kids 3- and 5-years-old. They had a ball, and didn't require strollers (or being carried!) The park is huge, but so varied that it never got boring. I can totally believe the advertised "90,000 pumpkins and gourds". It was quite a sight!
A feature called Bugtopia was adorable, with its enormous insects. Made for great photos.
We'd suggest you DO spring for the extra $3 each to get admission into the Children's Adventure Garden. It was really impressive.
Visiting in early October, we avoided the summer heat, yet it was still warm enough to let the kids play in the splash pads/water features. We hadn't brought our kiddos a change of clothes but towards the end of the visit just went with the "moment" and they were soon soaked to the skin -- and it was one of their favorite parts.

We visited after the winter weather impacted the grounds and plants. Their website said the tulips and other plants were not fully in bloom so thanks for the heads up.
The grounds and blooming plants were nice but lacked the wow factor. It was a nice walk and nicely maintained park but was missing the flash.

We came to these beautiful botanical gardens in mid-April for the Dallas Blooms event, and it was the perfect time to visit for azalea lovers. The blooms were just hitting their peak and were absolutely beautiful - huge bushes in different shades of pink for as far as the eye could see. There were still a few daffodils and tulips left, but they were mostly past their prime. If you're interested in those, I'd plan on coming earlier in the season in March. The gardens are gorgeous with wide flat stone pathways, a wide variety of flowers, huge emerald green grassy lawns, pretty water features, and fountains all set on the shores of White Rock Lake. Everything is very well maintained. We loved how many large trees there are that provided shade on a warm day. They were having a nice Seward Johnson sculpture event while we were there, very lifelike sculptures and fun to see sprinkled throughout the gardens. We paid $25.95 each for weekend admission. You can save a few dollars if you come Monday through Thursday. We purchased tickets ahead of time online; there was a $15 parking charge once we arrived. They have food and drink available for sale and also allow you to bring your own in if you'd like. I like that they go beyond the standard offerings and have fun beverage carts placed throughout the gardens selling things like aguas frescas, fruity mimosas, and various lemonades. There are complimentary garden tours available via golf carts, but they only take 7 people at a time; we were in line and told they would send another cart, but we waited fifteen minutes and it never arrived so we moved on. Would love to see more people be able to take the guided tour. I saw other people mention that they couldn't find paper maps, but we were able to get one at the information booth, and the people that worked there were helpful and friendly. We stayed between two to three hours for our visit and could have easily stayed longer. Highly recommend these gardens as a place to spend a relaxing, beautiful day. We'd love to come back during fall and also at Christmas when they have other holiday festivals.

If you are in Dallas, you must go and see this holiday display in the Arboretum! I am from Houston and our city arboretum is nothing and really suffers in comparison to this one. It would be gorgeous during the rest of the year, but whoever thought up this event is brilliant and so creative. The 12 Days of Christmas and the Christmas Village are fantastic, but the musical tree that has the light show is great too. Worth the money to see it. About 2 hours to see it all once through.

We loved the beautiful gardens, but our purpose was to see the featured chef prepare a self-developed dish. This was such an awesome opportunity to watch a professional chef in action at no additional cost!

What a beautiful, thoughtfully laid out, relaxing arboretum. It’s filled with gorgeous paths, waterfalls and ponds, lake views, and a wide variety of plants and flowers. It’s 90% wheelchair accessible, with concrete paths throughout. It cost us $58 for two adults, one senior and parking. Lots of places to sit and relax, numerous opportunities to grab a bite to eat, and lovely staff members available for information.

Such a great venue!
Lots of paths to stroll on. Tons of tulips this time of year. Crowded on a Saturday but still beautiful and so much color …Nice cafe with outdoor seating. Enjoyed the various fountains too!
While Rock Lake in the background was a nice backdrop …

This is an amazing nature spot...took tons of photos. Go early and be prepared to spend the day. I didn't know what to expect, but it was certainly exceeded.

After driving to Dallas, I love stopping here to walk. It's a large garden with several water features surrounded by White Rock Lake. I would suggest bringing food and drink with you. There's a concession area near the main entrance and the DeGroyler cafe and restaurant. Take time to explore.

Unparalleled views, great Flora, and events throughout the year. Membership is recommended if you live in Dallas. It's worth it for the events they put on

Like to go every year on December last two years, before during Fall and this year was when they open with the COVID restrictions. Was different for the CDC regulations. Closed a lot of the areas , and restaurants but still enjoyed it to see the beautiful place and flowers. Hopefully all will be ok by Fall to visit again the Pumpkin Patches.

It's not quite the Keukenhof outside Amsterdam, but it is still glorious. During tulip time, they have remote parking lots and shuttle people from there in full size buses to the entrance. I believe that you can purchase individual, family or group tickets on line. Restrooms and lovely gift shop, wheelchairs available. What I appreciate, and probably the parents of younger children do too, the children's area very close to the start, and always so creative for every seasonal change.
There are several snack and quick food options and a nicer restaurant for those who prefer. Picnics are popular all around the grounds and gardens. Plants, trees and flowers are all well marked. Additional wheelchairs are frequently available along the way, but if you think you might need one, bring your own or pick one up at the entrance. Well marked maps are given out, so you have many options available, including cutting back if you don't want to tour the whole site. Summer events in the evening with orchestra, etc., bring a picnic and wine for a delightful evening.
Of course it's a bit busy, especially at tulip time, but the property is huge and I have never felt like it was crowded. More small children on the weekends with their families.
A few discreet kiosks along the paths selling calendars, post cards, and the usual fare. But no where does the Arboretum look like a commercial park, indeed, it isn't because of generous donations and seasonal memberships. You end up back at the entrance with clean restrooms and that delightful gift store with some truly unique items. ENJOY! PS: if you're day is a bit cloudy, don't let that keep you from going. Seeing the flowers without your sunglasses on is great.

This place is beautiful. The tulips were in full bloom. We did not have our kids on this trip but it would be a great place to bring kids. Lots of green areas where they can run around.

An easy 214 bus ride from Downtown, the gardens are awesome, beautifully designed, presented and maintained.
A great place to visit!
Lots of good walking paths, a great variety of plants and gardens, interesting water features and sculptures.
If time allows, treat yourself to Garden High Tea - fabulous!!!

What a wonderful way to enjoy the great weather in Dallas by exploring the magnificent gardens and the Degolyer family house at Dallas Arboretum. Shame my photos do not do it justice. Lots of shade and places to sit and enjoy the place even if the sun is beating down. Cafe and gift shop were both good value too. It is definitely worth a visit.

My family loved the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Luckily, we were able to get a wagon for our 3 year-old daughter. We also picked up a coffee and hot chocolate. The Peanuts/Charlie Brown Pumpkin Patch was the initial draw but there were so many other highlights to our visit.
There is a garden where the Arboretum employees pull the produce, and they make other items with the produce. They day we visited they had used peppers in corn bread and made an accompanying relish and hummus. They ladies serving the items were volunteers and sisters and we thoroughly enjoyed visiting with them.
My daughter also did not want to leave the children’s garden which costs an extra $3 per person but it was well worth it. We spend half a day here and could have spend more time but we had to be at another event. We didn’t get to see everything because we spent lots of time in the pumpkin patch. If we visit Dallas again, we will definitely visit the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens again.

The photos of this "must see" attraction look fantastic, but must have been taken in late Spring or early Autumn as the colours are striking and vibrant.
However, I came on a scorching hot day at 34 degrees, and the past few weeks have also been too hot.
The result? Lots of dry and dull blooms. This is not a reflection on the gardens, the layout is stunning, but the heat really had an effect on the place.
Trams are available to hop on or off, the guides are friendly and knowledgeable.
Downside was quality of catering. I had a toasted cheese sandwich and luke-warm coke for a very expensive fee that certainly wasn't justified.
Highlight (for me) was entry into the DeGolyer house, which is a free admission in the gardens.
The ladies who act as curators and guides were very professional and obviously are very knowledgeable as they guide us through this beautiful house. It was quite sad to see part of the house is a restaurant, and the beautiful veranda is part of the restaurant. I who have loved to have seen the original kitchens that served the house, but unfortunately, like other parts of the house, were off-limits, as the restaurant has upgraded them.
Oh, pumpkins everywhere, and I do mean everywhere! The guide said approx 80,000 pumpkins were here. I can quite believe it!
I'm sure this IS a beautiful attraction, just don't go after a long Texan summer.

If you love plants, you'll fall iun love with this Arboretum. It is huge, on a major lake. Undulating paths wind throughout as you enjoy thousands of plants and flowers. Loved the show about a Ketrel by the audobon society.

October Pumpkin exhibition at Dallas Arboretum is a must-see if you are at this time of the year in the Dallas area. It is a bit crowded during the weekends, but it's still worth it. I would definitely recommend this place!

We visited in winter when they had the 12 days of Christmas and a Christmas village. Most stuff was open, and it was not busy, but it was just not something I would suggest spending the $17 entry and $15 parking on. There's just not enough stuff to justify the price.

Beautiful surroundings and especially so on a warm but not baking clear day. The grounds are immaculate and just spending a few hours moping around is lovely, although if you aren't a big flowers person, there isn't actually much of interest. A tour of the DeGolyer house is well worth it. The only other thing to note is that there's no real structure to going around the gardens, so you might be well served by planning a route first!

I’ve been a member for about three years, and love coming here for the big festivals. It’s also a great place to relax or take a leisurely stroll.

I attended a wedding at this facility. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and made for a breathtaking backdrop for pictures.

With the number of fantastic reviews, we were looking forward to spending the day at the botanical garden. The $18.76 charge for parking was a bit of a surprise. When purchasing tickets for the day at the ticket booth, we asked if there was a discount or combination ticket to also see the light display after 5:00. The cashier said that she did not know and gave no indication that she would seek an answer for us. Later, a volunteer near the gate shared that that there’s a discounted fee for entering after 7.
After the entry gate, we didn’t see one employee for the rest of our visit- about 2-3 hours. We were visiting the gardens for the first time and found it difficult to navigate. There’s not a natural flow to the walkways and exhibits, and the lack of signage didn’t help. The few signs for the bathrooms were at ground level and easy to miss. The bathrooms themselves were not well marked.
We’ve toured several botanical gardens over the years, and this one was a bit disappointing.

Beware! You must book tickets online 3 days in advance to get in. We were told this is a new policy to allow more flexibility of times for members. A Tuesday easily had over 500 time slots available when looking on Saturday but it is closed and considered “sold out” to guests on Sunday morning.
We hear great things about the grounds but do not appreciate this new policy. Book early if you want to go.

We spent an enjoyable couple of hours wandering around the Botanical Garden. Much to see here. The volunteers held “ask me” signs and were very helpful. There was a cooking demonstration, tasting samples and also a beer tasting as additional activities.
If you like plants, this is a must see. If your significant other likes plants but you don’t, it still was enjoyable.

If you love flowers and plants this is the location for you. Undulating paths along a large lake with every kind of flower and plant.

OMG. This place is great during the holidays (Halloween and Christmas). The whole place changes from tons of pumpkin in October to the 12 days of Christmas in December. Wonderful place to take the whole family.

Be advised before buying tickets, these are non-refundable and non-transferable. There are no options for inclement weather or illness. Would not recommend buying tickets in advance. Would also not recommend buying a membership. The discounts is only good for 2 tickets. This place is overall a scam

It was all great, if I had to pick one or two best exhibits it would be the shark tunnel and the penguins.

We've wanted to go for years and finally had a free day and took advantage of the $5 admission for January.
The place is very nice, well kept and all staff was very friendly. The arboretum itself seemed to be self guided but we did run into a lovely volunteer who was driving the tram who gave us a lot of backstory on the property itself and encouraged us to go the guided tour of the degolyer house, also on the property. We learned the history of the families who lived there and how the place became the arboretum.
We plan to revisit when the tulips are in bloom.

It is just a joy to wander around the well-manicured gardens and landscapes of this fine arboretum. There are some exotic plants, but the place really specializes in visually alluring displays of many beautiful flowers you can buy in your local store. Yes, it's not on the international caliber of the NY Botanical Gardens, but it is a very fine experience to roam aimlessly around an amazing environment. If you are into gardens and landscapes this is a must-see. Wonderful for kids as well.

The parking lot and Uber drop off/ pick up is Gate #1. They don’t sell admission onsite. I was guided to an online purchase by garden security clerks before entering... The cost was $17 for a non-member. And this place is giganormous. Spring is springing but the tulips have sprung. It’s like abstract art to Medusa’s Mane everywhere around here. Loads of botany (plants and flowers) to see... Nothing new or unusual for the season. Statues sporadically placed. Plenty birds and many more people. Gorgeous landscaping. Great for everybody to enjoy. There are a handful of places for breakfast, brunch lunch and beverages (non-alcoholic and alcoholic). I’d like to say five, but it could be more or less. Nice way to spend the morning, afternoon, day, birthday or wedding.

Bought tickets for Holiday at the Arboretum at Night. Dressed up mannequins, photo op shacks and a few lights on trees is all you are going to see – the rest of the garden is blocked off at night and unlit. Save your money, donate to the Arbor Day Foundation and instead cruise neighborhoods that have lights or take a drive to Woodward, OK Crystal beach or any Christmas holiday park where they have a light show (not to mention parking) for free. Asked them to void a double charge and they refused.

What beautiful area of the city! We went to Arboretum for a family function. The entire staff was very nice. The walking paths had shade early in the morning, so it wasn't too hot. We had an amazing back drop for all the pictures that we took. Highly recommend!!!

Gorgeous views of amazing flower beds and displays. Every turn you take on the path reveals another hidden garden oasis.

You will not be disappointed no matter the season. This year we went in March and the place was filled with tulips galore! I’ve been in the summer and it was spectacular as well. Next time, fall and all the mums and pumpkins!

This one of the most beautiful botanical I have ever seen. It was such a joy. Truly exceptional and the most beautiful experience I had in Dallas!!
The mansion is very interesting! Take the tour.
Do not miss this one.

The area feels really Southern in a good way.. with those white pillared or stone homes on the other side of the lake. I enjoy visiting here in the Spring, or Christmas time and in mid-Fall too. Enjoy a family picnic there on one of the huge lawns. If you visit during the hot months in Texas just go early and get your exercise-stroll in.

I hate the summers here. (I'm a transplant from the northeast.) So I pretty much avoid the arboretum between May and October, when it's probably at its best. But it's a great place to walk and enjoy during the more temperate months. The special events are good. I don't get to it as much as I'd like (though I don't live far!), but I have never NOT enjoyed myself there. Great place to take families.

What a great afternoon spent here wandering the arboretum by myself. Even though not everything was in bloom because of it being February it was still a beautiful place and it was lovely to see the daffodils and tulips blooming. There are so many pathways and nooks to meander through, and just when you think you’ve seen all the little spots, there’s more you somehow missed. I loved all the areas with water features as well. There are plenty of benches and places to just sit and enjoy the beauty and peace there. It was nice to see people just out and enjoying the day. I took the tour of the Degolyer house which is on every hour and 1/2 hour. The tour was nice and the tour guide friendly. I also enjoyed lunch at the restaurant inside the house. There’s a little place called “ A Tasteful Place”where they do food tastings which was a nice little treat. Overall a lovely afternoon and highly recommend this beautiful spot in the middle of Dallas.

A beautiful day to look at the flowers! Spring is in the air! Nice place for families, couples and friends! Food is available as well

It was a warm winter day so there was not an abundance of blooming plants, but the setting is delightful. Caught the tail in of the leaf change which was beautiful. They were in the process of planting 500,000 tulip bulbs around the grounds. They should be spectacular in early March. Definitely worth a visit any time of year (expensive to park there though!)

Beautiful and peaceful. Nice walkable space. I brought a book and read near the koi pond and overlooking the gardens. I’d go back.

Great views, lovely flowers even in the winter.
The twelve days of Christmas display was lovely.
Gift shop prices were reasonable.
Parking was convenient

Let me start by saying that a good part of the blame lies in me. I was in town for a wedding and decided to make a weekend of it and visit some local attractions. I thought $25 to get in was a little steep.but what the heck so I purchased my ticket on their website, not bothering to check out the parking situation which I naively assumed would be free. Only after my ticket purchase was finalized do they pop up with the fact that parking almost $20 extra. They already had my ticket money so I paid to get reserved parking. Upon arrival I found out that the parking garage where I was supposed to have "reserved parking" was a gridlocked mess and all of reserved spots were full. After fighting Dallas traffic across town, feeling taken advantage of by the extra parking fee, and just worn out by wedding activities I just left without ever visiting the park. The loss of $45 is my fault but The Arboretum needs to seriously re-think their processes and how they handle parking situations. Had the potential to be a nice outing but in the moment it was a complete disaster.

A stunning experience visiting visiting the unbelievable Natural settings of trees bushes and flowers. Would highly recommend to everyone

The Dallas arboretum is beautiful. Their fall pumpkin patch, face painting, and petting zoo is really the coolest time of year to come. Parking can be a bit chaotic and the price is high.

Looking for a Christmas themed attraction in Dallas, TX? Visit the Arboretum in December. Granted, most of the numerous gardens are not in bloom, but there is still much to see. The Pauline and Austin Neuhoff Christmas Village is a series of buildings built in the style of a European Christmas market. Each small structure is painted inside to look like various themed stores. We were offered bakery samples in the bakery, candy in the candy shop, instruments to play in the music shop, etc. Of course Santa had his abode here also. There were twelve gazebos spread throughout the grounds. Each elaborate display represented one of the Twelve Days of Christmas. Christmas carols being played had people singing along as they wandered the grounds. The main estate house had more Christmas displays than can be described. If you like the food to table concepts, the herb kitchen type garden offered recipes and samples to taste. This garden is in its second year of existence. There was also a cooking demonstration in this area. We enjoyed several hours enjoying this venue.

We have visited many botanical gardens across the country, and the garden in Dallas is one of the better ones we've seen. Everything is well-maintained and beautiful. The garden is well-laid out, and there are many interesting water features that add variety and enhance the experience. We spent about three hours there and enjoyed the entire time.
One odd thing. There is timed entry. Our entry was 9am, and we showed up at 8:57am. I remember the time exactly, because they wouldn't admit us and told us to come back in three minutes. Very odd, but okay.

Tulips by the thousands, my adult daughter and i loved our day here. The gardens are amazing. I would love to see the iris exhibit

What a beautiful place to have your vowels spoken to your one true love ❤️. Thank you Maureen for making all of our dreams come true!!

I was taken here to celebrate my retirement. We had a great time. The venue was decorated beautifully, the 3 different teas they serve you and the food were excellent. They serve you 3 courses. I have to say my favorite course was the dessert course. The blueberry scone was fabulous. I hope to make this a yearly event for us.

The Dallas Arboretum is a place to visit in every season. In addition to the botanic gardens full of outstanding specimens, visitors enjoy strolling winding paths to surprise private gardens; lovely fountains and water features like the Woman’s Garden; and, large, gorgeous seasonal displays. Fall is especially fun as displays of thousands of pumpkins and gourds delight visitors. Highly recommend spending a few hours in the peaceful beauty of the Dallas Arboretum.

i would love to give this place more than 3 stars but they have horrible, horrible customer service. Why have a page on your website for people to fill out a contact form for questions, help, info if you are not going to respond. They don't believe in helping people that need answers due to unique situations. Even calling, the agents can't wait to get you off the phone. Never did get our questions answered before going. Then they won't give you any info on an event until the morning of. it really makes it hard coming from Cali to plan when you can't get specific info. I tried really hard to get it and no luck. Luckily it all worked out for the most part, but would have been much smoother if I could of had info prior. I can contact other botanical gardens and arboretums and get info, get very helpful and friendly staff that want to help.
SO we went two nights to the holiday lights. First two nights it opened. Parking is horrible. I have a daughter in a wheelchair and two sections of the disabled parking spots were closed off, no one could access them. So we had to park down a steep hill and block others while I got my daughter out of the car and then finished parking. We have a ramp on side of car for wheelchair. That is also not safe to do as well. Then having to push her up a steep hill to the entrance of the gardens.
Part of the gardens/arboretum is not wheelchair friendly, unfortunately. Once you realize that section you can go around but its a bummer to have to do that when they claim the gardens/arboretum is wheelchair accessible. Also, some areas are pitch dark with no lights so you can't see the raised areas of concrete and such to avoid and having the chair being flipped by hitting those cracks, raised concrete pieces so very unsafe. I finally turned my phone light on and tried to manuever her and use the light at the same time. Pretty difficult.
Other than those challenges we enjoyed the 12 days of Christmas gazebos and especially the musical lights Christmas tree. It was a nice way to start the holiday season and glad we had the opportunity to go the second night as the first night was super crowded.
They said Santa was going to be there but wasn't on either night at 8pm which event didn't end til 9pm. Christmas village is neat.

The Dallas Arboretum is a retreat within the City of Dallas. It is a big open expanse complete with varied and beautiful flowers, waterfalls, sculptures, picnic areas, and even koi fish. It offers a wonderful view of White Rock Lake. Dallas blooms in March-April is lovely time to visit with sunshine and thousands of tulips of every variety.

A great place to visit if you like nature and lots of plant life. There is a lot to see here and you could easily spend many hours walking around.

This was the best botanical garden that I have ever been to. Huge gardens with so much to take in. It was so relaxing that I did not want to leave. I would love to go back if I'm ever in that area again.

66 acreas, concrete and wood paths. Great place to meander and gawk at the gardening. Oct 11th viewed the pumpkin fest, had snack at the cafe and walked through shop.
Easy to walk thru park but no set route. Maps are helpful but even the volunteers can't advise the best paths.
Grounds are gorgeous, 90,000 pumpkins and 40 gardeners make it possible.
There is water refill station, picnics are encouraged, handicap friendly, lots of places to sit, read, rest, etc...
It was nice to see kids having so much fun, masks are mandated for folks over age 5, lots of venues for private parties.

Wonderful afternoon spent enjoying the gardens, the holiday exhibits and the house tour which was decorated for the holidays. There was a christmas market going on the day we visited with many neat items to purchase benefiting various causes. We really enjoyed the 12 days of Christmas gazebo areas.

Beautiful location on the shores of White Rock Lake. Very nicely organized and varied gardens. We were there on a weekday morning and it didn't feel too crowded. The azaleas and wisteria were spectacular. The parking situation was a bit confusing: having reserved online, nobody ever checked to see if we had paid. Still, this is a must-see if you are in Dallas!

I love the arboretum! Every time I go, I discover a new hidden garden with interesting plants. Loads of fun in the spring and fall, seeing all sorts of different flowers and plants. Highly recommend getting a membership, it pays for itself within 2-3 visits. Perfect place to practice your photography skills, there's always something new and vibrant to take pictures of!

It was the best experience ever very pretty! The best time to go is fall the pumpkins are beautiful and great for picking one out and pictures

Dallas Arboretum is a beautiful place. The volunteers are friendly and give free rides to their visitors. They are very knowledgeable of the plants, restaurants and the historic home on the grounds. You do not ride from one place to another, they entertain you with stories and even gave us a side trip because of a question we had asked!
The house tour is included in your entrance fee as well as the tasting booth which give us a taste of the gardens. I tried pineapple ice cream and it was refreshing.
The gardens are beautiful with formal fountains and wilderness creeks. They had two very large peacocks shrubs and their tails were the flower beds.
The sit down restaurant had delicious food and the service was great. We enjoyed our day.

This is a lovely arboretum, with lots of good photo spots and places to sit and read or lay in the grass. I particularly enjoyed all the little streams and waterfalls, and the views on to the lake. It only takes around an hour to walk through though, if you are short on time. I hope to have the opportunity to go back for high tea, to enjoy their concert series, or to take one of their classes.

It is a nice place to soke up the spring sun. If you are a regular member you can find lots of cool hidden nooks and patches of grass. In December of 2019 they recently added a garden with vegetables and food samples. They have many Trails. I suggest either coming in the spring or winter. The spring because the flowers have all bloomed. And the winter because they have a Christmas village and snow globes set up. I also think that the idea of having the kids garden in the back with a little baby pond and activity center. It is still great in summer if you have kids and they want to cool off. and in the fall because of the pumpkin houses with different themes every year. A very enjoyable experience.

I have been all over the world and this by far was the nicest garden I’ve ever been in. Keep in mind it was 100° plus the way this garden is manicured is quite remarkable. I was speechless when I found out that this is run and bought by the city of Dallas! Since we live in Texas, it was nice to see which plants thrive in the extreme heat! And unforgettable experience. Also, we had a lovely tour of the original beautiful colonial Mexican ranch style house. This was the highlight of our trip and we will definitely be back in different seasons. Also, it was so organized with purchasing of parking and the tickets in advance.

Beware!!! We tried going to the Dallas Arboretum where they ask you to buy your tickets on line. We asked the staff at the entrance if we needed to pay the $10 parking fee while we were purchasing our tickets online and the staff person there said no, and waved that it was okay. Then later at the gate they told us that we had not purchased a parking ticket. They said no problem you can purchase it here and we said OK, but this time they charged us $15 for the ticket when online it was $10. We asked for the five dollar reimbursement due to their mistake. And they said that once ticket is purchased there is no refund. The staff lady at the entrance denied telling us no and that it was not their error. The person in charge obviously saw no problem with overcharging us, and thier was no apology for it. This was going to be an anniversary celebration. Needless to say we walked out after paying for our tickets and the $15 parking ticket. It was a matter of principle. Customer service is a thing of the past. Never again Dallas arboretum!!!

This botanical garden keeps its promises, indeed it is very well stocked, I appreciated the good mix between plants, stones and trees, very well cared for

What an incredible place. The grounds were breathtaking. We did the afternoon tea. I highly recommend this. Note, you to have to book it online at least 24 hours in advance. All 3 courses came with a different tea. Everything was delicious, soup, sandwiches and sweet treats. Robert was our server and looked after us so good. He made sure our tea was topped up and explained everything that came out. I highly recommend reserving the afternoon tea. The price includes admission to the gardens and parking. We had such a wonderful day here.

We really enjoyed the 12 Days of Christmas displays throughout the gardens. We were in Dallas and visited on the fly, but if we had to do it over again, we would go after dark so we could see it all lit up. It was still worth seeing in the daylight, however.

Dallas Arboretum is beautiful but extremely dangerous. They have a very strict no refunds, no reschedule policy for event tickets even if you are sick and contagious. So you are expected to go even if you’re contagious or got in a car accident, give it to someone else on that day, Or loose your money. This is an extremely gross negligence on their part, and is a serious health issue to all patrons

The gardens are absolutely stunning! You just feel good breathing in all the fresh smells and visual it is wonderful!

The gardens are just beautiful, full of flowers and the pumpkin displays were amazing. We went for a birthday celebration and thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

My family and I have spent many hours here in the past few years. Living in East Dallas it is a must to have a membership! When my children were younger we really enjoyed the mommy and me days with the music and petting zoo. Now that they are bigger we enjoying just walking around and enjoying the beauty.

Nice gardens. A good break. Recommended. Just not of the caliber of Longwood Gardens - which I judge all US gardens with.

I visited this beautiful botanical garden during my 10 hr layover in Dallas. Ticket entry costs roughly 25 USD. The place has multiple flower exhibits, gardens, water installations, sculptures, kids area with interactive games and science stuff. The total area is roughly 66 acres and it’s a perfect place to spend a day for a picnic. It was built in 1984. It hosts three major events - Christmas festival, Pumpkin festival during Halloween and Tulip festival.

The Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Gardens is a stunning retreat showcasing a diverse range of beautifully landscaped gardens. The vibrant floral displays, serene water features, and seasonal events make it a delightful destination for nature lovers and families alike. The expansive grounds offer plenty of space for leisurely walks and relaxation. It’s a must-visit for a peaceful escape and a taste of Dallas’s natural beauty.

We went to the Gardens on Sunday, March 26. It was very busy, but the gardens are large enough to handle a crowd. It was the perfect day to go to the gardens because the weather was perfect, and the tulips and azaleas were in full bloom.

Dallas Arboretum is a must-see place in Dallas. Every year I take my family (children and grandchildren) as well as friends visiting Dallas. The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is a botanical garden located at 8525 Garland Road in East Dallas, Dallas, Texas, on the southeastern shore of White Rock Lake.

My husband and I visit every year , Spring is beautiful, during Fall the Pumpkin Patch, and 12 Days to Christmas daytime and nighttime must enjoy all. Plus more activities for family.

DONOT go to the arboretum , they donot have any arrangements for parking , we got 1.30 slot on line and paid tickets including parking . We stood in line for one and half to two hours only to find out that all parking lots were filled. We called customer service for refund and they said they have a NO REFUND policy . The sad thing is the dishonesty of selling tickets online when they know they are already full , they should block the online ticket site stating it is full for the day rather than collecting money from citizens .
Very poor customer service policy , seems more like a rip off just to collect money from unsuspecting citizens .
They didnot provide contact of higher leadership for feedback , that pretty much tells what kind of business these people are running . There should be a site to report their dishonesty .

We all loved the time spent here! Please take the golf cart tour with a guide. You will learn so much more than just walking and reading. We walked the whole park and then took the gulf cart tour. So worth the time! We will visit again in all seasons. The winter/December time frame was still very lovely with all the gazebos displaying the 12 days of Christmas. Just wonderful!

Always beautiful and relaxing! Great for guests to Dallas or for kids! We always find something new to see and enjoy. A must see in Dallas!

It was beautiful! Fall is definitely the time to go when all the pumpkins are out 🎃🎃🎃 the garden is expansive and has such a variety of plant life

At least twice each year I go to the Arboretum for the seasonal events. It's worth it every time. The outside space is amazing and the views are spectacular overlooking the lake

After seeing all the reviews I was super excited to see the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, unfortunately however, I left disappointed. It is more of an arboretum than botanical garden and much smaller than we expected. There were a lot of people I think mainly for the Christmas displays but if you are a true naturist and looking to enjoy real nature, I didn't find it.

The place itself is beautiful, just don’t waste your money on parking like I did. It’s not mandatory and essentially a way for them to get more money from you as stated by their customer service representatives, who wouldn’t even let me use that credit towards someone else’s entry for next time.

Lovely botanical gardens with lots to see and do and lovely kids garden also. Only small downside is that the food options on site disappointed compared to similar gardens I have been to elsewhere (see Edinburgh Royal Botanic Gardens) and they really need to up their game with regards to single use food serving items.

Very nice to spent the afternoon, my baby liked it a lot, lovely place, very relaxing, children can play, you get nice pics.

Beautiful place with so may varieties of plants and flowers. We visited during the fall festival and were amazed at all the lovely decorations done using pumpkins of so many diff colors. The pumpkin village was awesome. The place has benches everywhere for people to sit and relax in between. It was super hot when we when so will recommend carrying water and an umbrella for the sun.

Perhaps, it is better on the cooler day due to Dallas's humidity in the summer. On the other hand, there is plenty of shade from trees and magical little areas to sit, listen to birds, and feel like you are in the tropical forest. There is a nice restaurant at the very end, where there is such a great view of the city in the distance, while you eat some good, healthy food outdoor. I recommend the parking garage on the hot day.

If the weather is not too hot, stop here. It's not too expensive, the walkways are beautiful, the views of downtown Dallas over the lake are pretty.
I think it would be great for kids because they can burn off some energy. And there was a petting zoo there the day we went.

This was the best Arboretum that we have visited in the country. We highly recommend it. The grounds were absolutely gorgeous.

As a solo travel who wanted to get out of the city and away from people for a bit and enjoy some nature, the gardens were perfect. You can get an Uber there no problem they drop you at gate one and this month the entry is only $5, so it’s really good value. Of course with the weather warning you can’t expect anything other than the sturdiest summer plants and they are being tended to well, with gardeners hard at work. Due to the heat not many visitors were there so most of the time I had each area practically to myself it would only see a couple of other people. There are heaps of shady spots, perfect to take a picnic or book. There’s also a little cafe near gate one where you can get drinks and food. The waterfalls were beautiful and loved the wildlife too - squirrels and a variety of birds and butterflies. I’d been in two minds as to whether to go but was so glad I did. Getting an Uber back to downtown is no problem, they pick up from gate 3, you might just have to wait 10 mins.

We used online reservations including parking. With Covid precautions, we expected the limited ticket sales would minimize crowding. Arboretum opened at 9, our tickets were at 10. The lot where we had reservations to park was already full and we had to park in garage. Park was very crowded. Other than that, we enjoyed the visit. Fall festival decorations were very nice and grounds are in wonderful shape. Will return but not on a weekend.

Short and straight to the point...every time I visit, no matter the time of year, the Dallas Botanical Gardens is absolutely always at the top of its game. Incredible, unbelievable, amazing, astounding, beautiful, stunning, breathtaking...
You just have to go there to personally experience what I am trying to describe.
JUST GO SEE IT !!!

I am amazed at how well the Arboretum is decked out for November. Beautiful. Surprisingly crowded but that’s not their fault. We definitely will visit it again in the future.

I have been to arboretums and botanical centers in a number of cities. This one was amazing! I say this having visited on a February day when snow flurries were flying and many of the flowers (tulips, pansies, daffodils, etc) were still a week or so from full bloom. The layout and expansiveness of this beautiful facility are truly impressive. There are so many parts of it that were not available on my visit that I have already promised myself a return visit when the weather is more hospitable.
I will never visit the Dallas-Fort Worth area again without a plan to visit this facility. It really is breathtaking in both scope and construct.

I hope to return in spring and summer. Lots of space and in honor of public health, only allow for a certain amount of visitors at a time.

We are traveling to Dallas area mid early November and have been trying to get additional info on the arboretum and holiday lights for our specific situation but this place does NOT respond to their messages via contact us page. Sent message every 2-3 weeks over the past couple of months but never respond! They have a contact us form for more info/questions page but what is the point of having that if you are NOT going to respond.

This is a beautiful park with a lot of walking trails, peaceful nature and calming landscaping. We visited for a few hours one afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The vertical landscaping installations were fascinating as were the various water features. There are several water walls and other artistic water features that should not be missed. Well worth a visit

Genuinely surprised at how much has been done since the arboretum was established. Springtime is really the best for the flowering trees and bushes. You can never have enough magnolias and the holly bushes are real art. We could have wander and wondered for a whole day. Incredibly lovely garden paths.
The DeGoyler house was open and a real treat.
Trip is well worth the time.

Beautiful botanical gardens. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly, and you can hop on the free tram tour to rest your feet. The park has a lot of water features, which is a good idea in Dallas, as I'm sure they would help you cool off on hot days. The historic house on premises was a nice tour. There is a tasting area where you can get free food samples. There is a separate children's section which looks nice although we didn't go there.

Beautiful selection of lovely Spring flowers in a serene natural setting within close proximity to downtown Dallas. Highly recommend.

I was really looking forward to visiting the Dallas Arboretum for their holiday event, but the experience left me frustrated and disappointed. After accidentally purchasing four tickets, instead of the two I intended to purchase, I reached out customer service for assistance, expecting some flexibility or understanding—especially during the holiday season. Unfortunately, their customer service was completely non-accommodating and conveyed no concern or apologies for my circumstances.
At $35 per person, the ticket price is steep considering the size and scope of the display. There are far better holiday experiences in the Dallas area that offer more value for a lower price, with much friendlier personnel. The overall impression is that they prioritize taking your money over showing any consideration for guests, which feels very out of step with the holiday spirit and disappointing for a City that should care about its local residents.
If you’re looking for a festive, customer-friendly experience, I’d recommend exploring other holiday events in the area.

A quiet way to learn about native plants to Dallas,Texas. Plants well identified a super helpful staff Stop in for the tasting of dishes made from the vegetable area. Soup was unbelievable..

This is a place not to be missed for any level of garden or nature enthusiast. While it was hot during our visit, everything is well cared for and manicured beautifully. There was so much to see around every corner! Three things in particular were memorable: the water features and fish, the cafe on the patio (that peach smoothie!) and the many beautiful young ladies on the grounds having quinceanera photos taken.

The arboretum never fails to impress, even if I worry about the waste w/ all of the pumpking/squash/gourd decorations this time of year. My complaint? The arboretum is really clear about wearing masks. Info posted everywhere. Too many parents think masks are optional when they want to take a picture w/ their kid/s. They're not. Haven't you people learned anything about Covid 19?

Not sure latest with Corona virus but saw this a couple of weeks ago with zillions of multicolored tulips and early spring flowers. It was a riot of color and quite a thrill.

My husband decided that if I wanted to visit that we were going to visit. Even if it meant his friend who came because he had rode with us was there. It turned out an enjoyable experience for all. They would sometimes catch pokemon while I snapped pictures of flowers. It's a beautiful place that is well taken care of. While there we got to see them setting up a big exhibit on a lawn. I think for a tulip festival maybe. A kind employee told us we must check out the house. That we wouldn't we regret it. The guys were uncertain about a house tour but I talked them into it. We went and got to tour it. Our tour guide was a knowledgeable guide. He answered any question I had. The home was beautiful. The couple had a very nice life and wonderful taste and luck in antiques. Able to find matching items at two different auctions. The house tour ended up being my favorite part of the day. Would love to come back during a festive time to see more beautiful flowers.

Some areas closed to maintain appropriate safety measures but still lovely to walk around this beautiful arboretum. Look forward to full opening. Bring water and snacks as there’s nothing currently available.

I've been here several times throughout the year but never for autumn. I have never seen so many freaking pumpkins & squash before in my life! The theme this fall was "The Great Pumpkin" and the staff really outdid themselves on the presentation. They recreated several scenes from the Peanuts classic with incredible detail and creative flair. There is also a huge pumpkin patch for the kids to play in. It was a beautiful day and there were many young ladies having their Quinceañera photos taken here and I can see why, there are so many beautiful photo ops here. Buy your tickets online for the fall and Christmas displays (especially if the weather is beautiful) because the line to buy tix was very long.

Beautiful as always. I’ve been multiple times and it never fails to amaze me. I took my friends who are from the Czech Republic and they absolutely loved it!!

While spring may provide a better display of flowers, late November and December is an opportunity to enjoy some Christmas decorations. The gardens have huge pavilions that showcase displays for each of the twelve days of Christmas. (You now, eight swans a swimming, geese a laying, partridges and pear trees.) They also have a pop up Christmas village that's fun for the kids. The grounds are really big and on the shore of the lake so it's a very peaceful location. There are several little gardens (such as the poetry garden) tucked away. There's a big frog fountain that is probably huge with the kids on hot days. And they do have a couple of places to eat. We opted for the family membership and look forward to checking it out during other times of the year.

+picnics allowed
+water bottles/canteens- I took a half gallon size and drank it all.
+plenty of cool down areas
+live music
+lots of color & beauty left from the scorching summer season to admire
14 year old children loved this experience. There is a kiddy for younger guests that was popular on this hot day. DA offers plenty of cool off fountains and shaded play areas.
Even in the heat of the 2:00 sun- shady spots and sitting areas provided cool down.
The Coy pond was a perfect cool off spot for the teenagers. Young daters took to this area as well. The grassy knoll is also a perfect hangout for the teen girls & their charcuteries.
The tram took this hot momma back to base, and the sprite teenagers walked the entire park. A great three hour excursion & break from tik toking.

We were visiting Dallas from out of state and read lots of reviews so we decided to check out the Dallas Arboretum. The staff obviously puts a lot of work into making this such a fun place with TONS of pumpkins and everything fall! I can only imagine what it looks like for Christmas! We spent about 2 hours and felt like we covered everything and saw everything. The staff is very friendly and helpful and answers any questions you may have.

Enjoyed a beautiful day wandering the gardens. Arrows on ground and one way paths to help with the social distancing. It’s unfortunate that people visiting this beautiful place aren’t a little more conscious about their garbage. Saw several empty water bottles on the grounds which detract from the beautiful surroundings. Given the current pandemic, I didn’t want to touch something that was in someone else’s mouth. Nice gift shop.

I've been here many times in the fall with their spectacular pumpkin displays but it was my first spring visit. It didn't disappoint! Beautiful gardens and lake view. Restful and glorious!

Don't waste your time or hard earned $$$ right now. When the Covid-19 craze requires 25% capacity they have taken that to mean you get to see 25% of the park too. And at any one time for the public only 2 bathrooms are open with 3 allowed in 1 of them close to the front gate and 2 in the other on the other end of the park. It makes you wonder just how that works? Do you poke you head in and ask how many are in here? Then there is one direction with everyone concentrated going that direction breathing each others exhaust. NOT SAFE. Wait until someone thinks this out or the craze is over. Then you will get your money's worth and not be so disappointed.

We had a good time seeing the 12 days of Christmas. The pumpkin patch was over but not cleaned up yet. And there wasn't a lot of flowers at this point of the year. Was able to push my mom around in her wheelchair with no problem.

I have a membership with them. I tried to enter the park. They check your membership, they check your ID, everything matches and you enter the property.
Security will run after you and they will make your day a bad day.
Super bad attitude.
Supe bad experience.
Do not pay for the membership and do not visit. They will just ruin your day.

Way overpriced. $55 to park and see some tulips. Poor signage on the plants. It was a Friday afternoon and the place was packed. What was I missing?

We've visited here a few times, once in the spring and once around Christmas. Visit in the spring if you want to experience beautiful florals with everything in Bloom (and the weather is better too). But the holiday decorations are as beautiful too, just colder.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! My kiddo's first kinder field trip was ruined by their lack of preparation for rainy days as well as their lack of instruction. Our school's trip planner attempted to reschedule days before and was told to try to come anyway and that we would get a raincheck if needed. She again was met with opposition the day we arrived, in a rainstorm, with 3 bus loads of kinder kids, as they instructed us that we needed to keep our planned field trip and get off the buses. The planner again insisted we leave and try another day, and then was told we wouldn't be able to get a raincheck. So I guess the parents that drove the entire way and paid their entry will just have to deal with a wasted day and ruined first experience with their kiddos. Shame on you! Will never recommend this place.

The park itself is very good and the pumpkin village is amazing, our kids had lots of fun. We also bought separate tickets for the night event called Spooktacular and this is where we got disappointed. The event did not match the description on the website, there was not food at all only some poor pizza from a car and a table outside the venue, there was no organization how to go around the park, almost no attractions what so ever, some poor stripes of magnetic tape hanging from the branches of the trees, almost no Halloween decorations, poor children's activities. My kids got so bored that we has to leave after an our. I can say our money were badly invested. I do not recommend this event, waste of time and money. I was expecting much more from Dallas and such park with such reputation.

I love the Dallas Arboretum at all times of the year but this review is geared toward the Holiday/Christmas display. It is a must see! The Twelve Days of Christmas theme is amazing and the displays are stunning. The attention to detail is unbelievable. They have great holiday music piped in and a really adorable Christmas village that is super fun for the kids. The DeGolyer house is decorated to the nines and each room has its own theme. I loved the gift shop and was so pleased to get two books that were signed by the author. There is a German Biergarten for an adult beverage and/or soup and sandwiches. It was such a great day! I would highly recommend an afternoon at the Dallas Arboretum during the holidays.

Flower beds not well kept, also same flower beds throughout. I’m likely spoiled as I’m from Chicago and the Chicago botanical gardens are incredible. Overall to expensive and a very disappointing day

The Holiday in the Garden is well worth the cost. I recommend it to anyone that loves seeing lots and lots of lights :)

Never disappointed! The arboretum is a relaxing place to stroll, enjoy nature, listen to birds, learn more about flowers and soak up the great outdoors. Dallas is lucky to have such a wonderful place to enjoy within the city limits. Flowers are displayed in such a beautiful manner.

We knew we weren’t going to see lush greenery knowing it was the last week of November but it was still a lovely few hours of walking paths among fountains and sculptured gardens. The holiday decorations were out and fun to explore. Wish there was more info about the former estates and plants in each garden. Beautiful spot for pictures. Can’t wait to be back again in a spring season.

I feel like I have seen ,a very nice change in bed design, and flowers being uses. And new flowers in the test trial garden as well. Those beds are well worth a visit. I get excited to see what might hit the nurseries,in a season or two. Can't wait to see the new editions open up for us. Great visit.Keep up the great job.

Great variety of settings and plants. Each area deserves some attention and appreciation. If you have not been in some time you will be surprised at all the new areas.

I visited my son who lives in Dallas. My son took me to the Arboretum and Botanical Garden. It's one of best things to do in Dallas. Paid $25.00 (parking $15.00 plus $10.00 for two persons). We spent a great time with good weather 65° in Feb. Most of flowers bloomed, good view of downtown and the white rock lake! Must visit!

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Need to see it at night. Took the grandkids and we had a wonderful time. Will go again next year

Absolutely gorgeous! Thousands of tulips in every color blooming! It was amazing how beautiful the gardens were just weeks after the worst winter storm ever! The tulips were blooming throughout the garden and we enjoyed walking along the paths. Just wish spring could last longer to enjoy it all!

Recent visit on a weekend, went early to avoid some expected high temperatures. Though the views from various lawn areas of the lake are gorgeous, along with several flowerbed varieties, the amount of tissues and plastic that were strewn about - between some bushes, and on branches of trees and bushes is of course unsightly. Need more trash cans would help, as would people being so lazy and dispose of litter on the ground. But also would be helpful is that those working on the property actually perform litter checks each day and throughout the day - otherwise the beautiful blooming flowers get lost because of views of ugly trash on the ground.

The Dallas Arboretum is a series of interconnected properties that come together to form an amazing oasis of trees, flowers and beauty overlooking White Rock Lake. Plan to spend two to three hours exploring the nooks and crannies of each themed garden area.

The weather did not cooperate with the planned trip to Dallas and although we were able to attend the 12 Days of Christmas Show at the Dallas Arboretum, we were extremely disappointed that you could not see the displays as the glass was fogged over and there had not been preparations made to keep the clean. Would like to visit again maybe another time of the year.

The arboretum is a must for the fall. There is nothing that compares to their pumpkin display. Year round, they have a great kids area and a wonderful view of white rock, we take a picnic and join tons of other families enjoying the view and sometimes live music. The tulips in the spring are breathtaking and the Christmas display is great for kiddos, including a pic with Santa.

Awesome as usual. A beautiful garden with lots of walking paths. Today it was the season for showing thousands of pumpkins and nice displays. Everyone was busy taking photos with there friends and family. Beautiful day and can not wait for the Christmas display. Best place for a stroll anytime of the year

Every year the Arboretum out does itself in color and variety! We love this little slice of Heaven in the middle of Dallas! Mrs. DeGolyer would be proud!

While the blooms were beautiful, I was disappointed to find that 3 out of 10 people were not following the mask mandate that had been specified on the website. Furthermore, despite visiting the gardens during our scheduled appointment, it was very challenging to find parking and the area was so crowded, that we did not stay long. I would not recommend this trip if you or if anyone you live with is considered high-risk for the virus.

We partook of Afternoon Tea at the DeGolyer House and throughly enjoyed the experience. Much of our delight was the excellent service we received from our waiter Eric. He was exceptional in his manner and helpful in that he asked if there were any dietary restrictions and as a result he arranged that we could have vegan foods provided for one of us. The food was delicious and the music set a charming ambience. It was totally a worthwhile.

Had an amazing time at the botanical gardens took a lot of pictures my wife and I really enjoyed ourselves. We will be back

We visited in large part to see the Christmas Market. It was nice, but we didn’t understand that it was a village set up for children to visit. The Twelve Days of Christmas display was lovely. The grounds themselves are picturesque, even in late fall. We’d love to visit again in spring or summer.

This was beautiful 😍. We didn't think of reading the website, so we didn't know you can bring food for a picnic, but will do that next time. There are some nice restaurants in the Gardens though. We have some lovely pictures.

when i was younger we used to go here a lot because my mom was a photographer. it had some of the prettiest flowers and art. I loved visiting. we even came during Christmastime which was probably one of my favorite Christmas memories.

We purchased tickets and parking online and arrived before the park opened. The parking lot was spacious and had many trees to keep your car cool. We entered and encountered a few other families and couples walking in the garden, but we were all spaced out. The garden was quite large and windy. We had a hard time keeping track of what we had seen and where we had wandered. It was just nice to walk among the green plants and trees in the middle of a bustling city.
Plenty of bathrooms.
It seemed handicapped friendly as I saw many families with strollers.
I saw a cafe but we didn’t go in.
Nice gift shop/

The perfect place to walk and relax after a long day's work. However, I see many people who do not take care of the covid

Amazing, breathtaking and wonderful place to go to relax and escape the routine. It's very well treated!

Really nice place to go out and walk on a good day. Christmas displays were already up. We will be back in the spring to see the Tulips. Really enjoyed eating at the Smokey Rose just across the street.

It was Senior Thursday and packed with my people. The place was fabulous and beautifully maintained. Tulips were in bloom. Air temperature was mild and breezy. Birds were everywhere. It was a nice, quiet moment in an often noisy and hectic city.

we picked a sunny day in October to visit. the pumpkin presentation (Village) was amazing. it was a little crowded but many families taking their photos, dressed up etc. this was worthy of a visit in good weather.

This place is filled with beautiful nature scenic spots. The beautiful flowers, plants and trees immediately put you in a calm mood. There were weddings, quince photos, proposals, picnics and families walking around.

Flowers were amazing and it was a beautiful evening in February. Wedding venue was awesome. Tulips hyacinths all colors of flowers. The wedding was on the lawn and it could not have been more perfect

This is a must see if you have time in Dallas. The gardens and grounds are beautiful. A few eating or refreshment places around. Very pleasant and relaxing experience.

It was a lovely place to be away from the busy traffic and close to the river. The Christmas displays were being removed but enough of the plants were still providing colour and greenery to help us relax and enjoy all the other aspects of this wonderful place. especially the sculptures. If we ever come back to Dallas we will certainly make a point of visiting again.

What a beautiful sight. Tulips in every color. The combinations of colors made every bed look like a new Easter basket. I love the sculptures!

We visited in October. Not many flowers blooming and not much greenery.
My Assumption: BEST TIME to VISIT would be in the SPRING SEASON (March to May) when many flowers bloom.
GOOD
- Large area (66 acres)
- Separate children play area as well.
- Different events and activities happening throughout the year.
- Weddings also happen here.
- Good for group picnic as well.
- You are allowed to take your own food with you inside.
- Allowed to click as many photos as you like.
NOT GOOD
- Not good in dry seasons.
- It can be crowded.
- Entry fees and Parking fees. But there are discounts at different months and days.

Wonderful morning visit! The gardens are great! Staff is very friendly and a great place to take pictures.

The gardens are always wonderful to enjoy the plants and lake view. At holidays they come alive for the season.
The new Christmas village is an interactive place for children of all ages. It is scheduled to grow next year.

Lovely Christmas at Night Display and the Holiday Tea is a must do. So very festive and a wonderful way to celebrate the season.

One of the better botanical gardens I have been too. There is a ton to see and a whole section dedicated just to kids. Plenty of cool walkways and plants on display no matter the season.

Gorgeous experience! We could have spent all day in the children's area alone. Every step you take here leads you to a beautiful view. They have snacks and drinks inside as well. Only drawback is that you can buy parking online but it was free the day we went, and other reviews are saying the same thing. Also, the person directing people going in was super rude. I kept hearing her say "We'll help you THIS TIME but you're supposed to buy online." Ok, calm down Karen. Thank goodness she didn't work inside.

We visited the arboretum on a Saturday morning and it was quite crowded. The grounds are lovely with many flowers blooming. However, we could see all the lights in the trees and on the buildings in the Christmas village, making us sorry we didn’t see it at night. It was still lovely but I think at night it’d be spectacular.

Since my family and I are nature-lovers, one of our first stops during our visit to Dallas was the arboretum. Even though it was a brisk 60° and the middle of winter, the grounds were well taken care of and gorgeous. It wasnt too crowded as we got there just as it opened. It was calming to walk through the gardens, taking pictures, and enjoying the greenery all around us. We hope to come back in the spring sometime!

Timed the visit to the arboretum perfectly this year. Went on November 8, 2019 and there were still some pumpkins and Charlie Brown's crew for the fall as well as the 12 Days of Christmas! Absolutely beautiful!

The Dallas Arboretum is average at best. It stands out because it’s located in a town where there is virtually no scenic appeal. Located on White Rock Lake, which is fed by White Rock Creek, a cesspool of a creek which flows through several homeless encampments washing piles of human feces and waste into the lake with each rainfall. At least bodies have floated to the lake surface this year alone. That said, the grounds are well-tended, if nothing special. New to Dallas, this summer our family purchased a family membership to the Arboretum. When we visited the 12 Days of Christmas event we were told season passes only work during the day and we were charged an additional $14.00 to view 12 installations that looked like a shopping mall displays. Not to mention that there was no ethic diversity or inclusiveness reflected in the displays. The Dallas Aboretum - go one time, then go home.

Don't recommend if you're from out of town. I was recently in Dallas and bought tickets and a parking pass for their Fall Festival. Arrived well ahead of our appointed entry time and waited in a line of traffic for 45 minutes for the lot we were assigned. Once we got to the front of the line we found that the lot was full. Called the office and they advised us to try a different gate that was the only one showing openings. We found that the line for that gate was even longer than the one we had previously waited in. Arboretum was not the only activity we had planned for the day and couldn't spend hours just waiting for a chance to get in. We called the office again to obtain a refund, but they said they don't give refunds. Told us we could use our tickets for another time, but we don't plan on being in Dallas again anytime soon. All in all, I feel like I was robbed!

It is likely that I would have given this review five "stars", but the crowds were a bit of an obstacle. I loved the layout of the gardens. Everything was so well maintained, cared for and marked. I appreciated beautiful views of the lakes and the paths meandering through wooded areas and water fountains. Spring is a great time to visit, as so much was in bloom. A Sunday at noon is not the ideal time to visit! (Parking was challenging.) Thankfully, everyone was respectful. If I were to go to the Dallas Arboretum again, it would be on a weekday morning!

I love the timed entry system because of the low crowds and the parking was easy to find. I know that the overcrowding of the past made lots of money for our beautiful Arboretum however we were able to visit on a Saturday and it was easy! Please ya'll go have lunch or Garden Tea at the wonderful DeGolyer Restaurant inside the Arboretum! The menu has great selections and the staff are lovely!
Love the Dallas Arboretum. Tomorrow, July 31 is the last day to see: Seward Johnson's 'Celebrating the Familiar Sculpture Exhibit'. It is wonderful, so lifelike.

We spent a gorgeous April afternoon at the Arboretum. The tulips were still in bloom. This is a lovely place to spend the afternoon. I am sure it is beautiful in any season.

Tulips not quite in full bloom - probably by mid March will be in full bloom. But gardens were beautiful - Hyacinth was in full bloom and smelled fantastic. At at Restaurant Degolyer - was very good. Lots of squirrels running around the grounds.

I have the membership it is worth it. I love the different flowers, the activites and the friendly staff.

Only had an hour to spend here but I can safely say it was on of the prettiest, best kept arboretums I've ever seen?

While it may be a little pricey to go to the gardens, it is more than worth it to see all the beautiful flowers and displays. I spoke to one of the volunteers and they planted approx 500,000 tulips for the season. They were just gorgeous. I lucked out and saw the wisteria in bloom, just lovely. All the gardens were well maintained, I didn't see a weed or stray dead leaf any place.

Really enjoyed the garden. Springtime and things were starting to bloom. It was very easy walking on level ground and lots of shade. Highly recommend doing a tea as it was delicious and very generous with food.

Spectacular from start to finish! Beautiful walkways, water fountains/falls among all of the beautiful flowers, shrubs and trees. It’s truly a wonder and it is bordered by a lovely lake. Everywhere you look, there is a beautiful view to behold! The best Arboretum I have ever been to. Stop, look, listen and enjoy complete peace with nature.

As a member I got to visit ahead of the public re-opening and was pleasantly surprised at how seamless and well-coordinated the new process went from start to finish. First, tickets are purchased online by selecting what day/time you'd like to visit as they are limiting the number of visitors at a time. Most of the extras are closed (rose garden, gift shop, food stations, the Children's Garden) and visitors are directed along a one-mile one-way path that circles the entire park but it's very accessible with plenty of benches and shade. Lots of great picnic spots. The summer flowers are blooming and there are fun music-oriented statues (with piped-in music) throughout for photo-ops. Like other poster said, bring lots of water as they have closed the food stations and the bottle refill stations. You will be expected to arrive with face coverings/masks and you cannot enter ahead of your ticket's time slot. The trails are well-marked and the 2 bathrooms that are opened were monitored for cleaning and limiting potential crowding. Overall, wonderful visit.

Such a great time! Everything was so beautiful. A must see attraction in Dallas.
My entire family had a blast at the the gardens

My family recently visited Dallas to view the total solar eclipse which occurred on April 8th 2024. We are from out of state and decided to go to the Arboretum on Sunday the 7th to pass the time while awaiting the eclipse on Monday.
The Arboretum website states: “To ensure that you have a seamless and enjoyable time, the Arboretum kindly requests that all guests purchase timed admission tickets online. This allows the Arboretum to manage parking and crowd levels, ensuring a more enjoyable experience for all.” The Arboretum created an “expectation of service” by allowing tickets to be purchased on their website for specifically timed admissions.
I purchased tickets on the 6th including parking for a 2:15pm timed admission as required through the Arboretum website.
We arrived at the Arboretum at 2:15 to be greeted by a half mile long car queue waiting to enter the parking lot. After forty-five minutes it became clear we weren’t going to be able to enter the parking lot let alone the Arboretum. A staff member standing on the sidewalk explained the parking lot had been closed since that morning and suggested we contact customer service regarding any possible refund. We contacted customer service that day and they suggested we rebook our tickets for a future date. This was not possible as we were leaving Dallas the morning of the 9th. We paid for a service that the Arboretum could not provide.
The Arboretum violated our “expectation of service” by knowingly overselling the capacity of the facility and failing to manage parking and crowd levels as promised.
Now, the Arboretum has a no refund policy which I don’t feel it should apply in this case. We didn’t change our minds and decide not to honor our admission time. The Arboretum oversold and should have known they would not be able to fulfill their commitment. Out-of-town guests visiting for a limited time are out-of-luck.
This is fraud.

The arboretum is really beautiful and has lots of areas to explore and is really immaculately cared for. You can read the thousands of reviews raving about it. I just wanted to add an emphasis to how amazing the Children's area on the east side of the arboretum is. It is a hands-on kids wonderland. I had heard it was cool for years but kind of thought it was going to be like a really good children's park and then when I finally went, I was blown away, it is unbelievable and kids everywhere were having so much fun. It is whimsical, amazing, informative, huge. It is really one of those places that you have to see to understand. Very cool and a big amenity for Dallas.

The most beautiful park in the DFW area, very well maintained! A great place to walk, to bring a date, for an amazing day with family and friends, for picnics with a view of the lake. There is a restaurant, fast food kiosks, or you can bring your own food. There are many benches where you can rest.
Somehow it happens that even if the park is crowded, it doesn’t bother you, you still feel good and peaceful.
One sad thing is that the park closes too early. I think from spring to fall they should stay open till 2am

Lovely set of gardens, and price point is not too bad. I really enjoyed their holiday displays. They were so vivid and detailed.

We spent the day at the Dallas Arboretum, walked, photographed flowers and plants, had lunch and sat to enjoy the atmosphere! The gift shop has unique clothing and items. Will come again for the autumn display and back for the 12 days of Christmas. Make a day of it!!

What can I say - it has great water features, unique flower pairing, plenty of benches, snack areas, I loved it.

I visited here on March 25th 2021. I just wanted to see cherry blossoms which Japanese call sakura. The flowers were blooming. Usually, you can see sakura from March 15th to 30th. It depends on climate. This flowers are great symbols of Dallas and Japanese friendships!

Mind blowingly beautiful gardens! I visited during the winter and can’t imagine how stunning it has to be in the spring and summer. Would definitely recommend this place!

Was taken there somewhat half-heartedly since I have a black thumb and have limited interest in gardening , but I did not regret it once I was there. The place is beautiful. There are a huge variety of plants and they are laid out in a lovely manner with attention to types of plants and color. There was clearly a lot of attention paid to detail. If I had any complaint, it is that it was really sunny, hot and humid so walking through the arboretum got pretty sweaty after a while. You do have to make sure that you stay hydrated and rest in the shade periodically. If you take these precautions, it is a fabulous visit and I do recommend it

My kids love exploring the pathways and being surrounded with peace and beauty. It’s definitely worth getting a family membership to enjoy the atmosphere in the different seasons. The Children’s Garden is also always a huge hit with the kids. There are so many fun and educational activities. It’s a great and creative resource to take advantage of right here in Dallas!

For Christmas this year, I gave my wife a membership to the Dallas Arboretum. She likes to go several times a year and had been going as the +1 with a friend who has a membership. One of my conditions was that I didn't have to go. I have nothing against the arboretum but my interests lie elsewhere. So, of course, when she decided she needed to use her membership for the first time a couple of weeks ago, guess who she asked to be her +1? Yep, it was me. And since I have trouble denying my wife anything since she's put up with me for as long as he has, off we went.
She told me I'd been there around 25 years ago with her and our kids but I have no recollection of that. We saw a lot of folks with kids and, in some cases photographers taking family photos so I'm sure we did that too when our kids were little.
We spent 2-3 hours there and I have to say that I enjoyed it much more than I ever imagined I would. It is a beautiful and peaceful (even with all the people) place and I have a great appreciation for how many people and hours and sweat it takes to make something the size of the arboretum look as good as it does and keep it that way. They change exhibits seasonally and it's obvious that they try very hard to stay "modern" and not just rest on past success. They had a food tasting pavilion as well as an outdoor stage where groups can (and were) performing. They also have a wedding venue. (That's a great idea!) There were volunteers on golf carts in the parking lot to shuttle people, if needed or wanted, to the main entrance and there were plenty of places to buy drinks and snacks throughout the grounds. The entire facility, including the restrooms, was clean and, again, that speaks volumes to the dedication of the volunteers.
I don't know when I'll be back but if my wife asks me to go again for the fireworks, the pumpkin display or at Christmas, I at least won't be sweating to come up with an excuse not to go! ;-)

Visited the 12 Days of Christmas and was really impressed by the displays - each of the 12 days are beautiful with over half of the designs in the absolutely stunning category. Would like to see the path of the exhibits flow a bit better and not have some in random areas that seemed out of order. Other people wandering in the dark trying to read a map, which we were not given.
The Holiday Village was beautiful as well - all in one contained area and well lit - perfect for young kids. The employees were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
The other lighted path was a bit random and we ended up way in the back in the dark and there were no staff back there. It was a dead end and we had to retrace our steps partly in the dark. Need a few more signs to keep people on the right path.
The DeGloyer Estate was beautifully decorated by a designer with each room in a specific color and the details were stunning. Try to visit that first before it gets too crowded because the rooms are not that large and a line forms at the front door.

This is a really nice rest from the city of Dallas. Just outside of downtown and easily accessible, the Arboretum is beautifully maintained

We came here for the first and we felt in love the minute we step that we became members. Is a very special place very well care. Beautiful grounds , stunning tulips and just the whole is beautiful

Beautiful and relaxing gardens east of Dallas. The horticulturists just planted 500,000 bulbs which are blooming!
The are miles of walking paths featuring many water fountains and seating areas. This garden is on White Rock Lake! It's so peaceful and calming.
This is a beautiful garden & arboretum. I recommend paying it a visit!

What an incredible, idealistic place. Transport yourself to the great outdoors among well-groomed and manicured grounds. We got lucky with a cooler than normal June day in Dallas. This is a must visit.
Provided you know the flora and light more is a good option.
It's nice, although it already looks a little sloppy and does a little maintenance. It is not very big and if you recommend that we arrive before 2 pm, to give them time to tour everything, as they ask you to leave before closing (17:00 hrs).
