8 family members consisting of 4 couples visited the Botanic Gardens on a Monday. The cost was $15 for adults. Our visit was in early May, so it was not quite yet in its full splendor. What was there and in bloom was beautifully manicured. The tulips and lilacs were in full splendor. There are some buildings that house tropical plants, but be prepared for the warm, humid climate inside. I have visited other botanic gardens that were larger, but they make good use of the space they have here. Plenty of opportunity to walk around and relax in a pretty setting. It's a nice way to spend an hour, and I'm certain that as the spring progresses into summer, the selection and diversity will only increase.

Parking is a nightmare. We couldn’t get a spot and left.

By S W |

Couldn’t get in because there was no parking. Terrible signage. Really disappointed. Disappointed. Disappointed….

Beautiful! A Denver-area Highlight

By TSG191914 |

Definitely worth visiting! Very peaceful walk through beautifully maintained gardens of hundreds of varieties of flowers, shrubs, cacti, trees, etc. Beautiful lily pad ponds and architecture, as well. A Denver-area highlight.

Not Worth It

By gypsyred |

What a disappointment. After reading all the hype, we made timed reservations to enter. No need to do that. We arrived early and had no problem getting in. As we checked-in, we were told the gardens would close at 2:00 for a special event. This was not on their website, or we would have skipped it considering the cost. The gardens were nice, but it was very confusing to find your way around. More maps need to be posted throughout the gardens. After a mediocre lunch, we decided to head to the gift shop. I had seen some items I wanted to purchase. They closed at 1:00, no notice was given. Other patrons were also disappointed. We were then told we had to leave because the gardens closed at 1:00. There was a total disregard for the patrons. Needless to say, I would say skip it.

Fun day amongst greenery

By Jason K |

Such a wonderfully beautiful campus! Such incredible exhibits and well maintained. I recommend this for all, bring water and a hat.

They Should Be Ashamed of Themselves

By Helen McCarthy-... M |

I visited the Denver Botanical Gardens in December 2020, just before Covid hit.
I'm from Southern California and I made a mistake expecting to see a variety
of beautiful plants as is common in my state even in January. However, THEY also made a mistake. Those people should have been ashamed of themselves. After paying, I asked for recommendations and was told that they had a Monet pond and to also check out their "beautiful" Japanese area. REALLY? The Monet pond was frozen solid and that "beautiful" Japanese area was a bunch of dead sticks. The only alive plants were in their green house which took about 10 minutes to explore Perhaps the plants in the botanical garden are blooming in Spring and Summer and the Monet pond unfrozen. Still, very annoying they made me think I'd be seeing such things and charged me to see a very dead looking botanical garden.

It was good parking garage is available which is nice. Large gardens including bonsai area. Indoor tropical area was closed.

By Dakota |

We started in the children’s garden. My 5 and 10 year old girls loved it. Then we toured the main gardens. The Lilly pad pool was a favorite.

Great to Work With For Events

By Brandy D |

We held our holiday office party at the Gardens on York. We were so impressed that we immediately booked next year's party. Fernanda in Sales was so accommodating and helpful. She was great to work with. The Blossoms of Lights cannot be missed and the Gardens are a sight to see throughout the year. I send my family here when they are in town.

Great Garden but Hard to Get Tickets

By Paul S |

We have visited many Botanic Gardens in our travels, but this was one of the best. Its sheer size of over 20 acres sets it apart. The variety of plant life is astounding and the walking paths are remarkable. The only problem we had was in getting tickets. They had to either be purchased online, by phone, or through a QR code displayed near the entrance. Since we don't know how to use the QR codes, we had to call and wait on hold for nearly half an hour for an agent. Otherwise, our visit was a great one and this garden is to be highly recommended.

Beautiful Stroll

By AMSLatham |

The gardens were still in bloom which was fantastic however many of the areas were blocked off due to two weddings, maintenance, and a luncheon. Overall, it was nice to stroll through what was open on our last day in Denver.

By 5-2andqtr |

The Denver Botanical Gardens are beautiful - and fun to see in each season! There is a great sculpture exhibit going on now!

Lots to see and well organized

By Kaj J |

If you love plants and flowers you will be in heaven. There is so much to see, and everything is well organized into themes. There are traditional English gardens, arrangements that mimic the mountain landscapes that surround Denver, a tropical plant area, and (my favorite) Asian exhibits. The water lily pond is outstanding. We were there in the beginning of August and there were plenty of things blooming. It is hot, and the gardens are extensive, so be sure to take breaks and hydrate.

Loved the gardens and the concerts

By Lisa-LPB |

The gardens are gorgeous. The concerts are fantastic. Get a membership so that you can visit in various seasons.

Gorgeous garden experience

By Chris W |

Beautiful gardens with well paved walking paths. Native plants, wild gardens as well as sculpted gardens. A favorite was the bearded iris and peony garden. Also enjoyed the house of cacti. There are ponds and waterfall areas, many benches to take a rest and look at gardens and people watch.

Beautiful

By Victoria N |

I visited for the first time recently from the UK. The place is absolutely beautiful. There are so many places to walk and you can also purchase and enjoy refreshments outside near the beautiful lake area. Parking was tight however, then you walk downstairs or get an elevator downstairs, then the gardens are across the street. There is a gift shop too.

A lovely day out

By Celia L |

I go to botanical gardens wherever I travel and this one is one of the very best. Lots of seats and shade to sit in and savour the day. Diversity of garden styles. And had a nice lunch in the cafe

By Cheryl B |

Denver Botanical Gardens is a must see! So many varieties of flowers, some of which I have never seen before. Beautifully presented and well maintained. One of the highlights of our trip.

By Joel K |

We had a fabulous first time visit to the garden. It was truly an enjoyable visit. So much was in bloom. There so many places to stroll, relax, take pictures and have a nibble.

Beautiful place to explore

By Christy C |

I decided to visit here with my daughter and it did not disappoint. The garden were beautiful and I’m sure I did not get to see it all. Every staff member we encountered was friendly. This is a great place to go by yourself or with family or friends.

Expansive Garden space

By Janelle |

This Is quite a large place with a lot to look at and do for being a botanical garden. We were there about 3 hours and didn't even go across the street to the Children's Garden at all. You could stay longer if the movie had been running, and if you looked through all the art exhibits as well. It appears to host many events at various parts of the park as well.

Cool, but would be much better in the summer.

By Bruce |

The areas in season or inside were very nice. Inside areas were well maintained. Japanese garden would be beautiful in the summer.

By Lauren B |

Beautiful gardens! Irises, in particular, were in bloom. The conservatory was very neat. Many plants and landscapes are displayed. Thoroughly enjoyed meandering here. Children enjoyed it as well, especially the water features, ducks, and fish.

Nice Botanical Garden

By svowels |

This was our first visit. The gardens are beautiful with many specialty areas. We will go back. The only downside is the lack of parking.

Celebration of Nature

By RJBandRDB |

A great celebration of nature, although I suspect this is not the best time of the year to view these gardens. We were a little disappointed that many flowers were not in bloom so the spring would have been better. I was also sorry there were not more roses to see and smell. However, there are some great points of interest to observe.

An Urban Oasis

By Gary S |

We were in Denver for a recent conference and walked from the downtown area to the Denver Botanic Gardens. It was a beautiful spot located in the midst of a residential section. Although it was the off-season, the garden area was a wonderful place to meander and enjoy the day. There are a number of special areas, including an interactive exhibit, a Chinese garden, an orangery, and an indoor garden reminiscent of a tropical rain forest. There are numerous benches located around the property to rest, relax, or think. The Garden also features an adjoining coffeehouse as well as some art exhibits as well.

I would definitely like to visit this attraction when the plants are in full bloom, but there was still plenty to see even in December.

By Mary Ann D |

Probably one of the best gardens I have visited but being in Denver I would take the time to plan. For example, some of the days they have concerts and the last entry is at 2 pm and everyone must vacate the garden by 3 pm. You will likely need 2-3 hours to enjoy this garden so plan accordingly. The website lists the hours so check that for early closure. Appears that concert tickets sell out quickly so you probably have to buy those well in advance. However we went in a Monday and had no problems getting in. Parking was pretty easy in the lot across the street but again we went on a Monday. Might be busier on a weekend. The gardens are very well maintained, lots of variety. I didn’t think $15 for an afternoon was an outrageous price for a ticket and we also saw an Ansel Adams display and a lovely artwork display done in paper. Consider supporting your local gardens with a membership as Denver Botanical has reciprocal membership and with this you get in for free! We belong to Stan Hywet in Akron, Ohio for example. The restaurants appeared quite busy so maybe take your lunch in. Also it was quite warm in July so take your water bottle, hat and sunscreen. The garden is worth the visit!

Beautiful gardens with local and tropical plant selection views!

By Pinkcandymonster |

Beautiful gardens with local and tropical plant selection views! These gardens put other ones I’ve visited to shame. It has a multitude of water features/ponds with beautiful lily pads and some wildlife. The cactus house was cool as well. It’s reasonably priced with free parking. One of the indoor gardens were closed at the time but still got to see a lot.

Always worth the trip!

By William L |

Exceptional botanic gardens. My favorite area is probably the bansai exhibit. Always something new to see here because the plants are constantly blooming at different times. Currently they have a Salvador Dali collection on loan from the Dali museum in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Nice stroll through various gradens and expositions

By Otto L |

Went with daughters and son-in-law on fairly warm day. Nice Japanese gardens, ponds and native species indoor exhibits (to get respite from sun).

Just beautiful

By HoosierAmy |

One of the finest botanical gardens I’ve been to. Just beautiful. Special Salvador Dali exhibition was a big plus and a big hit with our kids. Highly recommend.

Cool, yet would be vastly improved in the late spring.

By Faiqa A |

The regions in season or inside were exceptionally great. Inside regions were all around kept up with. Japanese nursery would be lovely in the mid year.

Gardens and Music

By Eric B |

Attended Evenings al Fresco at the gardens. Wonderful evening strolling through the gardens, listening to music. The gardens are very well kept up. One of the nicest ones we have been to. Being able to picnic in the grass amphitheater area was a great bonus.

A Gardener's Delight

By Susie Snowflake |

There are so many beautiful areas to explore. Most are handicapped accessible. Even though we visited on a weekday It was fairly crowded. We did not have any difficulty with parking though. Using a timed entry system probably helps control the potential crowd. The garden is well tended . The water gardens were particularly soothing on a hot day. There are many benches available to help the weary as well as providing spots for contemplating the lovely sights along the garden's paths.

By Rumi Molina |

Great way to experience the beauty of Spring and a lovely way to decompress from city life. I loved this activity choice and recommend seeing it at least once :)

Pretty good

By JLeisMom |

Spectacular, even in the late season. Lots of colorful blooms and textured grasses. I found navigating the gardens quite difficult and it lacked any kind of directional sign, but it was small enough that getting turned around wasn't terribly problematic. It was packed with people Labor Day weekend, but most were pretty cooperative in clearing out of pictures and such. A bit too small for five stars. Also, the pyramid-shaped education building is quite boring and under-utilized. Displays are very aged and unattractive. So much potential, but not even a good place to sit and rest for a minute. It needs a revamp badly!

Great Place

By Nancy A |

This is one of the best botanic gardens I've been to, and I've been to many of them. My only suggestion would be for the garden to have volunteers around to answer plant questions. Lots of the plants were not identified and it would have been nice to know what they were.

Loved these gardens!

By Imyourtallcool1 |

We visited the Botanic Gardens in August 2024. Loved the succulent section and the Asian section as well as the ponds and all the interesting sculptures. I definitely recommend you visit these gardens if you area nature lover.

Beautiful grounds, interesting plants

By Karen W |

This was our favorite thing to see in Denver. Beautiful grounds and very interesting plants. Plus, there are several cafes, art galleries, and libraries. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Blossom of Lughts

By Angela C |

We have gone multiple times a year, and there is always something different. This latest trip was to see the Blossom of Lights. The music and lights were in sync. We have been trying to get tickets for 10 years, and this was our first time seeing the Christmas lights. We booked early rather than waiting for good weather.

See Flowers/Plants You'll Never See Elsewhere!

By VanEsq12 |

As someone who frequents botanical gardens often, I can be hard to impress. But when I say I was impressed, I was! I saw flowers there I've never seen in any other garden. The landscaping is first class! This is a beautiful facility that would make the perfect venue for a wedding or special occasion.

Beautiful gem in the middle of Denver!

By CaltoKan |

We went to the gardens on a day that was in the 60's, partly cloudy and not much wind, it was absolutely perfect! What a beautiful, relaxing place to spend some time. I would highly recommend a visit to these amazing gardens in the middle of Denver.

Absolutely gorgeous

By AR-BRAY |

We loved the garden. Beautiful and relaxing. Friendly staff. Small restaurant was very good too. Great place for pictures.

The place to visit on a beautiful day!

By Tom M |

What a delightful botanical garden. We spent five hours admiring the gardens and the conservatory. And we had lunch in the cafe! I've been to gardens around the country and this one is now on the top of my list.

Amazing Place

By 617erinc |

In the heart of the city a place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Very well kept and maintained. We were there as summer ended and fall began but with the weird weather we got a bit of both.

Peaceful and tranquility

By Concera D |

It was a beautiful experience, for someone who love nature. I got to see plants that I would never have gotten to see being in Missouri. It was calming and peaceful to just sit on the side and feel the warm breeze and the sun. Going at your own pace to just relax to read or draw. Just breath taking

By U8547GMlindaw |

From the “jungle” to the desert, this garden is a must see in Denver. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Chihuly structure.

Beautiful & Diverse

By Bulldog |

Greatly enjoyed the diversity of flowers, shrubs, trees, and ponds. There seemed to be more content than would fit onto 24 acres. Certain locations reminded me of Longwood Garden and Mortreal Botanical Garden, but most views and flowers are semi-unique to this garden.. We arrived about 10-15 minutes prior to our scheduled entry, and parked easily then walked right in without a wait. Ate lunch in the restaurant near the entrance, but service was slow - possibly due to pandemic restrictions and staffing. We were in the garden more than 2 hours but did not see everything because a thunderstorm came up and we had a schedule to keep. Will hope to return in another season of the year to see different flowers and foliage.

By Marilen C |

Closed areas for private events therefore unable to explore all of the gardens. Otherwise, beautiful place with amazing views. Very relaxing.

By Cryptic_Tourist |

Very nice botanical gardens. My friend mentioned that the plants in Denver have a hard time surviving the harsh climate so don’t come here expecting everything to be in bloom and super vibrant. The buildings and water features are very pretty! Unfortunately during my visit the large greenhouse was closed so I didn’t get to see that, but I really enjoyed seeing the art exhibits that were installed for the season. I’d like to return when they decorate for the holiday season some time.

Must Visit!

By Howie |

The Denver Botanic Gardens are expansive, well tended, and drop jaw beautiful. During a long stroll, I moved from wonder to awe -- just so much to see on different scales. Take your time, wear good shoes, and take breaks as needed. If you're a gardener, you'll go back home with many more ideas for your own garden.

By JoandGlen G |

Very nice, even though it is winter, the snow covering gave an another perspective, it would be so nice in spring, worth a visit, the Orchids are spectacular!

Escape from the City

By Ruthie8319 |

Went here on a busy Saturday morning. Got my ticket on TripAdvisor which was easy and quick to check in. These place is worth a visit if you are around Denver downtown or want some leisure walking time. I have visited several botanical gardens in other cities and this has more interesting landscape to see. It is huge place so prepare for some walking. Good customer service. Clean bathroom and you can tell they maintain this place. Definitely worth a visit.

This is a 10 Star Place

By Bernard W |

Parking: Free across the street from the museum. Top floor of parking garage had the fantastic, fun Mordechi’s Children Garden. The main botanic gardens was so much more than a bit of flowers. Currently there are special exhibits in the new building with air-conditioned spaces. Two outstanding not-to-be missed are Salvador Dali works that feature botany. The other exhibit Yellow Room are drawings and seeds and dying products of plants in the yellow family of flowers. The drawings are exquisite with some in colored pencil on mylar that are difficult to believe are hand drawn. In the building one can view botany-themed documentaries. Other buildings contain greenhouse hot house. There is also the science building that shows how plants and animals and humans interact and affect the environment. Very good displays. One can also see where plants that are grown to be planted at different times in this expansive part are tended.
Outside are vibrant clusters of beautiful flowers and plants and trees and environments such as a Japanese Garden and lily and duck filled pond exploding with beauty.
Highly recommend this special oasis. Free with American Horticultural Association membership. Plan to spend hours with a smile of contentment and awe of the beauty on your face.

Lovely Oasis

By TravelingMamaGlv |

What a lovely way to spend a warm summer evening! We wandered through colorful gardens, enjoyed a small Salvador Dali exhibit and ate outside at their garden bistro.

A Denver Gem

By C4242SVelizabethk |

Such an enjoyable walk through winter gardens and indoor oases. Beautiful no matter the time or temperature. Denver should be very proud of this extraordinary resource.

By C C |

The gardens were beautiful and a great time to visit in the morning. We stopped for a break at the snack area and were able to enjoy the water garden view. Very walkable!

Denver Botanical Garden Surprise

By Karen G |

The gardens are laid out beautifully and well cared for. A nice variety and style of plantings also. I wasn't expecting much but ended up surprised and pleased with our visit.

Beautiful gardens

By Jennifer K |

Took a trip via the RTD bus service from our downtown Denver hotel to the gardens. It was a very nice and relaxing break from all the concrete in the city.

Go to the Rainforest Building

By Ruth B |

A decent sized garden with many small waterfalls, streams and fountains. There are some beautiful spots such as the rainforest building and the lily pad pond surrounded by roses. Otherwise the garden is largely unimpressive. I was done in 1.5 hours so it’s a quick touristy stop. Purchase the city pass to save on admissions to many Denver attractions including this one.

By joycebG2295HD |

This is a beautiful, peaceful place. I my opinion timing your visit should coincide with seasonal blooms. Do your homework.

Pretty

By Compass761538 |

Fun, good weather, lots to look at, was amazing the number of different plants and trees. Would recommend!

A Gem

By heidibakerco |

We're local and this is one of our favorite places to spend an evening. The gardens themselves are incredible and constantly different. There are two fun cafes or you can bring your own food and drinks. Beautiful place for a picnic.

Exquisite plants but the experience needs a few tweaks

By Nicole F |

I visited on June 15th. The day was going to be over 100 so I arrived promptly at opening to flash my QR code.

They will not provide you with a physical map nut ask you to take a picture of a very large board with your phone camera, which was frustrating.

Science Pyramid not open, which was also a disappointment and unnecessary.

I had lunch at the Offshoots Cafe. I paid $18 for an iced tea and sandwich, before tip, which initially seemed fine since I thought it would be Zabars quality. Unfortunately, it was poor, with lower meat and bread quality than I use at home. (I did enjoy the crazy vaulted arches in the cafe).

The gift shop was strange and small, and in retrospect I wonder if part of it was under construction. (When you walk in you are funneled to the right side of the building.) I found nothing to buy despite wanting to, except for a small plush type freestanding dog, made out of recycled materials, but it was $185 dollars, which seemed steep. Book selection was small for serious gardeners and was not as good as a bookstore. Many items seemed to be for home decorating but we're larger than most tourists would want to take home.

My last complaint is that if you are a serious gardeners, you are there to investigate plants, and so many plants lacked labels or had wrong labels. I understand that it can be tough to label as herbaceous plants come and go, but it was still frustrating.

Positive parts? Absolutely. Informative placards actually provided great insight in an instant....Plants were astonishing, and well cared for ----majestic peonies, huge fragrant, abundant roses, and big milkweeds. Interesting use of landscape design, barriers, shade features, etc.

I had visited about 15 years ago in October and I remembered it being almost magical, and this time, despite the exquisite beauty, it was not as magical. I think some small tweaks to correct the aforementioned issues should bring this back to a 5 star experience.

Beautiful Location in Denver

By Ashley G |

This would be a fantastic couples trip or if we had older children. The flowers were beautiful and the paths were winding and secluded. Alot of the paths aren't super accessible with a stroller. The childrens garden is also not very convenient to the main gardens, as it is across the street. The gardens are huge and there is a lot of learning opportunities. I would love to come back if I was solo so I could really explore and look at the labels on the flowers.

By JDG764 |

An absolutely fantastic place to visit - both beautiful and informative. Astounding collection of conifers and desert plants and a wonderful tropical house with perfectly kept orchids and more. The finest place in Denver - highly recommended.

By Amanda C |

What an incredible place! We stopped here just by chance and were completely blown away! Everything is so well taken care of, gardens are beautiful, and signage and education materials were top notch! If we lived here, we would come all the time!

By Joe |

We arrived a half hour after they opened. We spent 3 hours exploring as much as we could. The floral arrangements were awesome. It snowed the day before we arrived leaving enough snow on the ground and in the trees for some awesome photos. I could have spent another 3 hours there and not have seen as much as I would have liked. Recommend for all.

By FLtrotter |

Beautiful spring day to see the colors and smell the roses! The gardens was busy and on a weekday but it’s prime spring season. This does take away some serenity from enjoying the gardens. However the garden is so well laid out, labeled, picture perfect looking vegetation it’s really breathtaking taking. Anything from succulents, to irises and roses and trees. The the conservatory with tropical plants galore I’ve rarely seen looking so healthy and abundant. It’s not Fairchild gardens but neither is Denver a tropical zone. Spectacular visit although the crowds and parking made the visit a little stressful.

Lovely

By Eileen L |

Lovely place to visit during Christmas Holidays ‘the lights are so magical…’ blossoms of light ‘❤️ Wonderful Food and the grounds are well lit and handicap assessable ‘great gift shop for gardeners ‘great cafe ‘right in the heart of Denver ❤️ Who knew??😋

Just lovely

By AngWhitt |

Such beautiful place. One of the best botanical gardens I have been to. Lovely experience and definitely glad we went while visiting Denver.

Pleasantly Surprised

By geometryjunkie |

This place is absolutely beautiful. None of the pictures on here do it justice. It costs $15, money well spent in my opinion.

Ok Gardens

By italean |

Ok visit to the Botanic Gardens. Best part of the visit was the tropical greenhouse. We walked around for over an hour but that seemed to be the best exhibit.

Lots to see here

By L_Lott19 |

We were in town for a concert at Red Rocks and looking for something relaxing to do during the day. There is a lot to see here. Aside from all of the different plants, there are sculptures, buildings, ponds. It seems to be a pretty popular spot. A wedding and birthday party were happening while we were there. There was a gated area for members only. Whomever was using that area was blaring some sort of profanity-heavy music. We chuckled at the strangeness of it all. To hear that in the background as you're walking about this serene environment was odd. The little food truck that sells hot dogs, the woman was very was nice. We grabbed some waters from her. There are a few water fountains in the park as well. The woman volunteer near the entrance wasn't exactly friendly. Gave me a weird up and down look and sort of dismissed us when I asked what was the best way to tackle the grounds. I'm not sure if they have a way to better explain what we were looking at. Maybe have QR codes set up at the different gardens, etc. That might help in terms of education. The grounds are beautiful though. We enjoyed exploring our way around the park. Oh, and the bathrooms are very clean!

Just a Garden

By Jade P |

It was a hot day when I went (3rd week of April), but there still wasn't a lot grown yet. Lots of bare areas. My favorite part was the indoor area, might've been the tropical area? Very relaxing though, I also liked looking at the koi in the pond they were very pretty.

It was ok. Not worth the hype

By Left_on_a_jet_plane |

I was surprised that this was rated #1 on Trip Advisor for Things to Do in Denver. We just walked around but it wasn't worth the hype. The kids portion was cute and small so easily walkable. There are many places to rest throughout the gardens which was nice. Unless you know about plants or flowers I would say it was just ok.

Great Way to Spend a Relaxing Day in Denver

By sc1009 |

The gardens were in full bloom when we visited in mid May, after having rained quite a bit before we arrived. The gardens are beautifully kept, and they seem to go on forever. We wished the Japanese tea house was open while we were there, and the conservatory wasn't open, but there was still a great deal to see. There are also several small cafes to dine at. We ate at the Offshoots Cafe which was really nice, the food is fresh and healthy, and they use ecofriendly dishes/utensils. It did get really busy while we were sitting and eating, but the line moved quickly. There are a good number of tables/chairs in and out. Plan to spend a good part of the day to really enjoy all the gardens. The gardens were also being enjoyed by groups of children, as there are areas where they can play freely.

Exceeded expectations!!

By Hope |

This garden was on my bucket list and I was not disappointed. The way it’s laid out by sections can be challenging to cover but believe me it’s so worth it. Take your time

By Bob Angry |

We had a great time walking the garden on a warm summer morning. Parking is limited and a little confusing. There is a small upper lot and then more parking in the garage but it was very full bt 1030 when we arrived. We did find street parking nearby, though.
We headed left from the entry and that seemed to help with the crowds. The water lillys here are amazing and there are a lot of water features to enjoy. We even saw bunnies!

By deward070882 |

Our family thoroughly enjoyed the gardens. Peaceful and beautiful! This is a magical space in the middle of the city. Spectacular and serene!

Loved the Gardens

By jd3sai |

These botanic gardens were awesome. You can even take food in, even though there are cafes inside. We took cava, sat on the floor and enjoyed the calming view and scenery. The gardens are really beautiful to just walk around and enjoy.

Taking photos

By Mariana G |

Really beautiful! I spent almost three hours here, taking pictures of all the amazing flowers. They also had a nice art exhibit, and beautiful and relaxing gardens. It was a little crowded, but still enjoyable.

Beautiful Garden

By Ava K |

A large and wonderfully maintained garden with quiet paths, colourful sections and lots of space to wander. Ideal for a slow afternoon.

Nice walk

By ignaciosf |

Good botanical center, nice gardens! Amazing walkways to take photos, on this already decorated Halloween date, nice walk either solitary, couple or family. Mended!

By Bryan B |

Beautiful gardens, many cool nooks to explore - not a lot of shade, BYOB - no alcohol for sale.

Free parking, pretty convenient.

Spring

By Zondra M |

Beautiful. Many areas closed. Salvador Dali exhibit excellent Many landscaping ideas. Very Zen. Kid friendly. Wheel chair friendly

Beautiful!

By AskDrN |

Easy flat walks surrounded by endless gardens of all kinds make a couple hours at the Botanic Gardens the perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon. I loved the Bonsai trees and the water Lillies,as well as the sculptures throughout the park. Be prepared for humidity and heat in the enclosed rainforest gardens. The gift shop is amazing and there is an art gallery, a cafe and a library. Parking is easy across the street in a parking garage.

WOW!!

By Bob B |

PARADISE IN DENVER!
You will 2.5 to 4 hours to see all the flowers, plants, vegetables, herbs and trees etc.
You can bring in drinks.

By caitdwallace |

The gardens were very beautiful - everything was in full bloom except for the roses in mid-May, so it was color everywhere! It was large and you c an spend several hours roaming around. The only thing I found odd was that we bought our tickets online but no one ever stopped us to scan our tickets or even check. We walked right in. So I’m not sure if this was a free gardens and we somehow paid for something we weren’t aware of? Either way, highly recommend visiting, especially in May.

Beautiful Gardens in Denver

By 195508Anonymous |

We spent time at the Denver Botanical Gardens when in town for a wedding. This is a lovely stroll through multiple, beautiful gardens. There was a bonsai exhibit in a tented area and this also was worth the stop. There are many water features, opportunities for shade and there was even a wedding going on while we visited.

By Jason Homey |

I have visited many botanical gardens in my travels across the US. This is the best!

If you just go by the sheer amount of amazing areas this place has, it would still be the best. But the flowers are so well taken care of and there is such a variety of different areas to see. We especially like the variety of dahlias. But there are also art exhibits, a sensory garden where you can touch and smell plants up close, and so much more. I am told they have a great restaurant as well, but we just had slushy drinks. The highlights were the gigantic lily ponds, the amazing landscaping, and the romantic garden.

My only negative is two things. First, I came to visit on a Friday and they were closed for a private event. This was not advertised on their web page and was only updated on google that day. We were in town on vacation and the main thing we wanted to do was the botanic garden. We had to switch our schedule around to make it work the next morning, but it was still a hassle and a poor job on their part to announce the early closing time. Second, the day we were there, several areas were closed due to a private party and a wedding. I really wanted to visit the science section but that was closed for wedding ceremonies. My issue is I paid full price for a ticket, I want full access. They are making money off of me and the wedding. Just charge $3-4 less that day since you aren’t offering the entire experience to your customers.

Otherwise, this was a great trip. It took us 3 hours to get through the entire place and we usually fly through places way faster than most people.

Beautiful gardens, lots to see

By Rashad U |

Beautiful gardens, lots to see; the local and xeriscape gardens were a fascinating touch, and the Dali exhibit was nice too

A must visit place

By ethan smith |

I'm so glad I stumbled upon the Denver Botanic Gardens! This beautiful oasis in the heart of the city is a must-visit. The gardens are stunning, with a wide variety of plants and flowers from around the world. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and the grounds are meticulously maintained.

Too early to visit

By Bonnie L |

A lovely spring day in Denver. Way way way to early to visit the botanical gardens. Basically nothing had popped yet.

Beautiful gardens in the heart of Denver

By travelrvo |

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the gardens. It was beautiful and the sheer volume of different plants was amazing. We enjoyed the layout and had a great time meandering our way thru the different areas. Particularly loved the bonsai garden! The gift shop was fun but the prices are ridiculously expensive.

Outstanding

By EIO55 |

Everything was in bloom; the space is huge and overflowing with flowers, shade information and beauty. The water lilies were particularly spectacular. I will be going again when I am in Denver and the weather permits.

Glorious floral extravaganza

By Jeanine W |

This is such a lovely Botanic gardens. The flowers are glorious. It’s a great place for a walk and with the timed tickets did not feel overly crowded. Highly recommend a visit.

Fabulous

By braz0s |

Beautiful even in early spring! Good location and easy to get to. The tulips and trees in blossom were spectacular. A good place to visit in just about any season

By Shadowshade |

The view in the garden is absolutely gorgeous with many different species of plants. Some are very challenging to grow. The only complaint I have is I wish there could be a large board in front of each small garden with the names and the photos of each plant on them. For now there’s only a small name tag beside each plant that are hard to read and easy to get confused with other tags.

By MyBucketListTrips |

One of the best botanical gardens I’ve been to. General Admission is reasonably priced. The gardens are really lovely. It’s a very family place to take a stroll and enjoy the serenity of the gardens. There is a parking garage , a parking lot, and nearby street parking. If you go in the summer, bring water. There are a couple of cafes as well.

Excellent day trip

By Laura Z |

beautiful gardens! so many diverse plants, bushes, trees, flowers, water ponds etc. well worth the trip

Wonderful Art

By Mary C |

We loved the exhibits in the art galleries. We had a wonderful tour guide named Jacklyn for the Blue Sky, Green Grass exhibit.

By Alison |

We were in Downtown for a conference, and decided to Uber out to the Botanic Garden. It happened to be a “free entry” day, which was a plus. The experience still would have been worth the $15! Flowers were beautiful, bathrooms were clean, and many volunteers were giving TLC in certain areas.

Don't go on a Saturday if you want to see the gardens fully.

By ImmigrantPunk |

There were some wonderful plantings and it was fun to explore - but there were THREE separate weddings happening, each necessitating them shutting off areas we wanted to see.

Such a disappointment that there was no warning or we could have chosen another day.

A must see while in Denver

By lovetheoutdoors061 |

This was our first trip to Denver and the botanical gardens were highly recommended by friends. We were glad we visited. Beautiful gardens of all different types. Plaques explained what was in each garden. The whole place was impeccably cared for. The bonsai area was amazing. Admission was reasonable. Spent a few hours. Definitely recommend

Unforgettable Visit

By shohrehnikkhah |

Magical place to visit. Endless beauty and colors. Just breathtaking. This place is so nice that you don’t wanna leave. Nice restaurant and gift shop. Highly recommended.

Must see

By bushes5 |

Fantastic Botanical Gardens. Lovely wide paths with lots of labels on everything, which I love. Divided into specific themed areas so you could go directly to what interests you, but I recommend walking the entire property including the indoor tropical plants. Not crowded at all due to the required purchasing of timed tickets online, and worth the several hours to see it all. Beautiful things in the gift shop also.

Gardens issued evacuation notice before a concert started, then never offered a rain check.

By Relax407374 |

Purchased tickets for a concert at the gardens. These tickets were not cheap. While there an emergency evacuation order was given due to severe weather, so we left immediately. Asked for a refund and was never given one. Told that we could have called a weather hotline to find out the concert ended up taking place much later. None of this was made clear to us. A policy that flies in the face of safety. Really disappointing.

Beautiful but check about any closings before going

By Megan A |

We visited the botanical gardens as part of our City Pass. When we arrived around 11:30, we were told their was a private event and they would be closing at one. It was our last day so we had no choice. The conservatory had many large, beautiful tropical plants in it. We hurried around the gardens which could be marked with number like on their map for easier identification. Some areas were closed off due to set up for the private event. We decided to save the childrens garden for the end since it was on top of the parking garage. It was closed at 12:30 when we finally got there. My son was very disappointed. I wish this would have been on the front page of their website so we could have planned better. What we saw was beautiful though.

A must see!

By vfa192mir |

A must see! If you're going to do one thing while visiting Denver, you should do the Botanic Gardens. The gardens are incredible and the landscapes, architecture, artwork, and grounds are amazing. We spent two hours here on a hot crowded day and left feeling refreshed and inspired. Definitely the best botanic gardens I've visited.

By IBkayers |

Maybe I was expecting too much because of all the rave reviews but I just thought this was ok…parking was a pain getting there at around 11:00 a.m. and had to park on streets behind main parking lot but at least that was free (from street signs looks like you can’t do this first Thursday of the month, no parking street signs kind of confused me at first). My 16 year old and I walked the entire gardens and the two art exhibits in about 45 minutes. The highlight in my opinion was the Japanese garden with the ponds and lily pads. I was disappointed that in the succulent room everything is numbered but no sheet to go with it to tell you the names of what you are looking at. A QR code or something for that would be nice. Probably would not pay to do this again unless it’s a lot more interesting a different time of year or something like that.

Discrimination

By Kerri D |

I traveled to Denver to see the Botanical Gardens specifically with my entire family. We were celebrating my daughters one year cancer free remission date. When we arrived at the Botanical gardens, parking was a nightmare. We then proceed to go to the ticket booth to purchase tickets. We are a military family so the discount was nice. However, my husband has severe PTSD and has our dog; and American Bully to ease his anxiety and paranoia at times in crowds. As we had already paid for 4 tickets to enter the garden when we were stopped by an extremely rude Botanical Garden security and he stated that " If the dog does not have a working dog vest he can not be let in." I had just paid for 4 tickets mind you, so the special celebratory trip was missing a parent and beloved pet because of some security persons ideals. Also I was not refunded my money then, I had to call a main office and was told it would be three to four days to receive my money back. That is crap!
My husband had to wait in the car while my daughters and I looked at the garden. While walking around the garden there were 4 other dogs running around in Halloween costumes. These costumes were not service dog vests. I felt discriminated against because of how my dog looked. The day was ruined, and not good at all. The Gardens were hard to find one's way around and boring. So many areas were closed off due to weddings and events happening. This is a very horrible place to go . Do not waste your money, all of the reviews on google state it is absolutely amazing. Keep scrolling to see how many horrible reviews there are. Please keep scrolling to see the one star reviews that never show up. I would hope that the Botanical Gardens would apologize to my family and my pet, however I will not hold my breath. Put your money towards something that is really family friendly.

By metswin |

Got there at 9:30, paid and quickly got in. Got a map and started walking around. A great variety of plants and flowers. Some were unique. Well labeled and laid out . It was a warm day, but plenty of benches and some shade.
Had lunch at the cafe. Spent about 3 hours there. Been to several Botanical gardens and this was our favorite.

Online ticket disaster

By DLP1009 |

Others have left rave reviews of the gardens and I agree -- we had a wonderful experience once we got inside. However, it is not clear that tickets must be purchased online in advance. There were many others besides ourselves trying to use our phones in the bright sun to navigate their purchase after arrival. Completely unnecessary and so frustrating we almost went elsewhere.

Great Experience!

By Maharanie G |

My visit to the Denver Botanic Gardens was beautiful, its very well kept. Staff was very friendly. My kids had fun and the pictures we took looks amazing. It's a must see when you visit to Colorado.

Disappointed

By Peg829 |

Check their website before you go. We took an Uber from our hotel only to find once we arrived that tickets were needed for that day and were already sold out so we could not get in. We ended up calling another Uber and went to the Denver Zoo instead.

Terrific garden to visit…

By eve1950 |

Great place to spend a few hours or a day, it’s not like any botanic garden l’ve visited. There is an intimacy as you wander through the “landscaped rooms” that seamlessly connect to each other and via walkways and paths. Throughout there are places to sit (benches dedicated to someone dear) for you to rest and just take in nature. Some in the open, some nestled beneath a tree or in a corner for a peaceful moment.

There is a very wide offering of plantings, and lots of signage (well integrated) explaining the different sections. It is a very walkable and doable garden in a half day. There were two places to eat, one completely outdoors, overlooking a huge lily pad pond and one at the front, with a tiny outdoor area. There is also a children’s garden (which we did not visit).

Highly recommend this garden, which even though it was very hot that day, (in the 90’s) had enough shade. The dryness of the weather here, retains the coolness in the shade, as opposed the heat and humidity found on the east coast, so even on a hot day it is very pleasant. It is evident this is a well love place also, given the many volunteers tending to it as we walked through who often shared their knowledge with us.

Gorgeous stop

By Pearl |

Absolutely gorgeous Flowers were in bloom. Takes a couple hours to walk thru. Nice café and gift shop. Free parking if u arrive early. Tickets on line only

Beautiful Gardens

By CapitalS |

Beautiful and large botanical garden. We spent several hours there.
Reasonably priced.
You’ll love Denver’s Botanic Garden if you like visiting Botanic Gardens.

Something Wonderful No Matter the Season

By Bill K |

I have been to the Denver Botanic Gardens for their holiday light show, for the spring blooming period, and for fall/Halloween events. This was my first visit during the summer months. This set of gardens is beautiful during every season.

There are so many beautiful things to see here...flowers, wildlife, art, and water sights. It is maintained and staffed by caring people that make a visit here exceptional.

There are many places to sit if you have someone in your party with mobility issues. The is a wonderful cafe in the middle of this site that provides an excellent place to rest/reflect.

Concert series warning…you may want to skip this

By Inga L |

As a Denverite, I’ve been to more than a few concerts here over the years, and have come to the conclusion it’s probably not worth the considerable expense. Hopefully, if you decide to be a concert goer anyway, at least you’ll be prepared. 1) you will receive an email supposedly prepping you for the concert. It will neglect to warn you that chairs above a certain height (about 30” I believe) aren’t acceptable. Water bottles are. 2) prepare to queue in a very long line under a hot sun for an hour before the doors open, and then walk VERY fast to grab your spot on the lawn (preferably the west side, never the east…you’ll see). A month of good aerobic workouts will come in handy. 3) despite the tight squeeze, your next door “neighbor “ will often complain you’re too close. Ignore them. 4) despite the warning to take conversations elsewhere during the performances, don’t be surprised that the music you’ve paid a significant amount of money to enjoy vies with the drunken braying of older wealthy patrons . No ushers around, so either prepare for subdued battle or try to tune them out. Good luck!

Blossoms of Light Holiday Extravaganza

By Jeffrey D |

It’s a tough ticket to score, but the Denver Botanic Garden Blossoms of Light show is spectacular and well worth your time. It’s been a tradition for many years and just keeps getting better.

By Jandy2013 |

It is a nice place. We could not find parking when we first came in. Had to come back 2 hours later, parking if free, which is nice. Some of the sections in the garden were not open and many of the plants were a little dried up. I wished they would have give us a paper map. I truly liked it, it had amazing tulips and beautiful trees. Recommend you bring lots of water and comfy shoes and a hat.

Still great to see even when to covered with snow

By Kevin Gabutti |

We went to the gardens during winter, it is still a great place to visit even when there is still snow on the ground it’s like a winter wonderland. The only thing I would recommend is to book online before you get there and select a time slot to save time.

Botanic Gardens on a Beautiful Friday

By Donna C |

I had not been to the Botanic Gardens in many years and it was a delight. beautiful weather always helps when you are outside that much. The back cafe had trouble running out of food and food orders took about 25 minutes, or longer, which I think is an uncomfortably long time. But, fortunately all we did was order drinks, and even some of those they had run out of. Oh, well, the gardens were beautiful.

#1 out of our botanical gardens list so far.

By Grace |

We have been to different states (FL, Ga, SC, etc.) this one was the best! They thought if everything. The perfect paring of plants contrasting one another. The roses, the herb garden, the lilies, there was so much going on it was overwhelming. Now, tripadvisor, go plant some trees.

Alive not Dead at the Gardens

By mkg |

I visited the Gardens on March 7, 2021. There were only a few spots of color from very early crocus. I enjoyed seeing the beds at rest and getting outside to walk around and sitting down on a bench where three families were with their kids watching the goldfish gather waiting for some tidbits of bread.
The larger ponds had icy banks but it's rather fun to anticipate everything in bloom in a month or so.
The glassed in walk alongside the Tropical Conservatory was uplifting. I especially liked the frothy fern leaf plumosa...it reminded me of growing up and spending time in my parents' flower shop in the days before everyone sold flowers.
A great way to anticipate spring at the Gardens. I am renewing my membership.

Enjoyable date day

By Peyton D |

This place was great. Very relaxing and plenty to see. All of the employees and volunteers were also very friendly. Only caveat — this place needs more parking for the amount of visitors it brings in, especially during busy hours.

It's worth the time!

By Danny Rust |

If you want to take a beak from the city, the Botanic Gardens is a solid choice. But be careful parkin gets tricky, especially when it's bussy.

Georgeous even in Fall

By TruthfulTripper |

The Japanese Garden was the highlight.
The admin offices are held in the beautiful original estate home...too bad as that would have been cool to visit or have weddings...definitely a lovely urban oasis and Denver highlight worth a visit. The first cafe is okay. Not as amazing as some historic gardens but notable.

Spirit Guides on Display

By Ronald L |

New sculptures at Denver Botanical Gardens inspired by astrology of the Mesoamerican Zapotecs are now on display. The fiberglass and acrylic paint animals were completed by Jacobo & Maria Angeles of Oaxaca, Mexico where they operate a community workshop providing training and employment for hundreds of local artists. We visited the Angeles studio, in Oaxaca, a couple of years ago and were impressed by the talent of the local artists. This is a very impressive display and well worth visiting.

By Travellover |

We spent 3 hours here from 10am-1pm , including an hour for lunch outside at the Hive Garden Bistro which was lovely. The Gardens were so beautiful in late May. All the plants and trees were clearly labeled. There were plenty of benches to rest on throughout the gardens. The irises and lilacs were in full bloom. There were so many varieties of iris I had never seen before. The succulent garden was in full bloom too, and the pond with ducks and lillies was breathtaking. Our whole family enjoyed walking through the gardens. There were 6 or so school busses full of kids there but somehow it wasn’t crowded and noisy. All in all it was a wonderful experience!

Amazing escape into natures splendor.

By Alison R |

The botanic garden offers a amazing escape into nature's splendor. Its lush landscapes house a diverse collection of flora, spanning from exotic orchids to towering redwoods. Meandering paths guide visitors through meticulously curated sections, each representing distinct ecosystems. Educational plaques provide insights into plant species and their ecological significance. The garden's meticulously maintained grounds are a haven for both nature enthusiasts and families. Amidst the vibrant blooms, the calming ambiance fosters tranquility and a deeper appreciation for the natural world. A visit to this botanic garden is a refreshing and educational experience that reconnects people with the beauty of the Earth.

Beautiful Gardens

By JAnd213 |

I couldn't wait to see the Denver Botanical Gardens as I had heard a lot about this place. The flowers were beautiful still in early September. I'm sure the flowers were
magnificent during the summer months. Enjoyed walking around the gardens.

Painfully overcrowded & use of pollinator-killing herbicides

By M S |

Oh boy, do they oversell! I visited in June and did expect a fair number of visitors, but this was a miserable theme park-like experience (I left after 20 minutes). I had hoped to take some time to look at and learn about the plants, but there were so many people that was impossible. Smell the flowers? Nope! It was a warm day, and all I could smell was sweaty bodies, perfume, and chemical sunscreen. While there, I learned that they use herbicides in their garden--such a heartbreaking disappointment to know that all of those blossoms are poisoning the pollinators that visit them.

S-pring-s to mind

By Bridgette |

The flora and fauna in here are to be not alive at this moment. This springs an idea, we should have come here during spring.

Glow at the Gardens

By Bret H |

Glow at the Gardens, their Winter holiday event, was spectacular! Beautiful, creative, and fun! Considered the best light show at a public garden...in the nation!!!

Worth a visit.

By Eric F |

Visited on our recent trip to Denver for the Christmas Light Show. Definitely worth seeing. Kids enjoyed it. Being from Florida it was great to see the holiday spirit.

Winter wonderland

By Kyle R |

It is fun walking through the Christmas display. We have gone two years in a row now. Fairly priced. Dress warm though

By GVAES |

Nice walk, but it did not fascinate our teenagers!
Admission is still a little expensive (about 75 dollars for 5). The gardens are beautiful, with many varieties of flowers, plants and trees. I loved the water lilies and the beautiful collection of bonzaïs.
Afterwards, it was not the most folichonne visit we made....

Wonderful experience

By N0rmalee |

This is a beautiful facility although there are still some areas not yet open and they still want you to wear masks even outdoors. We were a little late for tulips as they were starting to fade but still some gorgeous colors. The conservatory is fabulous with some giant examples of so many species, some of them are at the very top of the enclosure. Great photo opportunities here.

Beautiful Botanic Gardens

By PackUpNGoNow |

The Denver Botanic Gardens is a great place to visit near the Capitol Hill area of Denver. Admission is $15 and free for its members and members of its botanic garden partners.

The well planned Botanic Gardens has mainly paved pathways with signs and maps directing visitors to areas such as the greenhouse with tropical plants and trees, a cactus house and a geodesic dome housing a science exploration lab.

Even though it was late October, there were still flowers - roses, chrysanthemums, pansies and dahlias. Surprisingly, the Halloween pumpkins and decorations were being removed days before Halloween.

Lunch can be at two on-site restaurants. We ate at The Hive Garden Bistro (outdoor seating only) and shared a delicious vegetable sandwich ($14 + upcharge $2 for sweet potato fries).

We asked for refund when we canceled. They refused regardless of details.

By kenjan7976 |

Refund our reservation money due to storm. We live 1-2 hours away and the very cold, snowed, windy storm was to arrive when we were scheduled to be at the Botanic Gardens.

By Alexandra L |

The schedules are not updated, I come this morning for the opening at 9:00 as specified on the site to visit the park before my flight this afternoon but it is privatized for the morning! Disappointed by this lack of information

Don’t miss The Denver Botanic Gardens

By Leslie B |

My husband and I were not prepared for the variety of plants, the size of the gardens, and the plants still in bloom in October. We were happily surprised with the gift shop as well: nicely curated and well-placed choices - something for everyone.

By guy8827 |

For all of us that don’t have a green thumb we can learn a lesson of perfect landscaping and placement of plants. A good day to get your steps in and enjoy the outdoors.

Simply gorgeous!

By Kimberly C |

I could have spent a lot more time there. What a gorgeous place, I mean a photographers dream!
The feeling this place gave me was so peaceful and serene. My daughter and I enjoyed everything about our visit.

There Were Some Bonuses to Our Visit

By urbanguy |

We visited on July 1, and I'm not sure if there any flowers not in bloom. The garden was full of colors, shapes, and forms.

The "Bonuses:"
(1) An exhibit of Ansel Adams' photographs. As I'm sitting here on my computer in our "playroom," I have on 3 of these walls a total of TWELVE Ansel Adams' photographs. Obviously, a favorite of mine.
(2) There was a very interesting film about the Amache Natl. Historic Site, formerly known as the Granada (Colorado) Relocation Center. This was an internment "camp" for Japanese-Americans from 1942-1945. Having visited Manzanar in California, I was very interested in the subject matter of the film, which was very well done.

By Travel456 |

I was in Denver for a work related trip with students so we decided to fit everything in possible in our spare time. Denver Botanical Gardens was on our to-do list. The gardens were absolutely beautiful and every route we took we found new beauty. The gift shop was expensive but so many wonderful finds. The macarons, available at the register, are a must try. Go ahead and get the larger quantity. They are made locally. If you are in Denver this is worth the time.

Delightful even in if early spring

By Stanlehl |

Strolling through beautiful settings is the objective. we were there with tulips all over the place, many unusual ones as well as the usual array f colors. Some flowing shrubs were coming out. Three weeks into May it will be ablaze of color Do not miss the Chihuly glass sculpture

Outstanding botanical garden!

By TeresaB25 |

We are in Denver for the Tulsa Chamber of Commerce Intercity Visit this week. We arrived early to visit this botanical garden after hearing such great things about it. It was exceptional. The flowers and grasses were unique and the water features interesting, intriguing paths to beautiful sights. This is a must if you have a trip to Denver in your future.

Just beautiful!!!

By klutzWestBend |

We so enjoyed this place, although it was pretty hot to be doing it. There is a lot of variety and everything was kept up so well. Be sure to visit this place!

Beautiful place.

By Brian D |

The entire grounds are just beautiful. Spent about 2.5 hours just wandering around. Took tons of photos. Really enjoyable place. The arts and crafts store was really nice as well.

Beautiful space

By Bee80204 |

Attended a function here so we were allowed to wander in the gardens. It’s been a while since I was able to visit. So I headed to sit by my friend’s memorial brick in the Romantic Gardens. Had a little trouble finding it as they had a section closed of and changed the path I would take. But eventually I saw her brick. It seems as they gave her a neighbor and I’m glad she has some company.
Went by the Chihuly display to admire the colorful sculpture.
Listened to the smaller waterfall and it’s babbling ‘brook.’ There are these pots with succulents in them that are wonderful. So pretty and delicate. And the colors were still plentiful interspersed between the green foliage and different varieties of grass. I don’t remember as many hidden paths and it was delightful to discover those. They make it feel as if you are in your own garden. Of course because the event was after hours there were not many people walking about. So it felt more intimate.
Walked along the Board of Trustees Walk and in Scripture Garden. Admired the Disney solarium and June’s Plantasia. It was nice sitting in the shelter there listening to the water feature and then watching the koi swim.
Sometimes it’s a hassle coming down as parking can be challenging but on this night with only guests from the two events it was lovely. I caught a glimpse of the other event and was able to listen to their quartet playing. That added to my enjoyment of the gardens. The event I attended was amazing and the set up of it and the other one happening at the same time made me think about holding events here in the future. I was impressed and will be back.

Great distraction from Busy city

By JohnPatsi |

Very restful place to spend some time away from the bustling city of Denver.

Wonderful variety of trees and bushes and other flora.

Well worth a visit for serenity

Nature lover's paradise

By srbelle24014 |

Beautiful gardens with many different types of gardens to view. A nature lover's paradise. The gift shop was just okay. Allow 2 hours just to walk all the gardens and more time if you wish to sit and enjoy.

Awesome

By James R |

This place is huge... if you have any interest in Gardening, any knowledge of plants.. this is the place for you!!

So Much in an Urban Small Space

By mummblingme |

Denver’s Botanic Garden has expanded dramatically from my last visit 15 years ago, with notable new buildings and exhibitions, currently Dali’s whimsical botanic paintings, some worked over vintage illustrations; Yoshimoto Sato’s cast bronze nature series; famed tropical gardens, which then opened into Japanese topiary and a koi pond with contemplative garden. This is an exploration of density in an urban space--so much to see in a relatively condensed space, which interestingly, provided more than we could see in an afternoon. We will return!

Blossom of Lights

By CrystalEats |

This was an absolutely gorgeous display of lights. Holiday music drifts in the air, lights seem to cover nearly every inch in different shapes and colors. It’s a one way path and you should amble at a leisurely pace as it’s just under a mile. I high recommend for any age.

Must visit

By FrankWill |

Enjoyed the garden immensely, so many plants/flowers and trees to see, the ponds are relaxing, have some good ideas for my own yard.

Beautiful.

By Rosey M |

Beautiful. Go early. Gets hot. Flowers everywhere. Food was average in the cafe this garden is a. Ice way to spend an afternoon

By Jason M |

Gardens are average at best, been to better. They also have a parking problem. Nowhere near enough parking for the average day. You'll probably start your day frustrated with parking to then have a sub-par experience. If they fixed the parking experience, then I think it'd be worth it, but as of now, I would skip.

Nature at its best

By Lynda P |

Beautiful flowers, enjoyed awesome nature at its best

Lovely lunch and a wonderful day with friends even if it was snowing

Vacations by Rail

By Terry W |

The views were amazing- 5 railroads in 9 days ending with the Rocky Mountaineer! We took tons of photos and visited several National landmarks and parks.

Absolutely stunning.

By Sam MMH |

We had an amazing day wandering around the gardens. One would never know you are in the heart of Denver as there is a peaceful solace felt. There are too many sections and unique areas to explain them all. Suffice to say there are representations of various plants/trees/climates from around the world. Flowers and trees bud/flower at various times so you are guaranteed for various colorful sights and smells. Well worth a visit!

Lovely place

By Khaled A |

If you’re in Denver, then you must visit. There is so many plants that I got to know. So much knowledge was gained. I consider this a win. Plus the gift shop is the cutest shop in the history of shops.

Worth a visit!

By Tami |

Absolutely stunning garden with food options, a mostly spendy gift shop, an inside dome with tropical plants, and nice bathrooms.

By Rachel K |

Surprisingly large for being right in the middle of downtown! There was still snow and ice in places, and about 1/4 of the non-paved paths were closed for landscaping, but that feels par-for-the-course visiting on an off-season Friday. The Orchid exhibition was unexpected and absolutely stunning!! The free activities were great too, super approachable for adults and children. We would love to visit again in warmer weather!!

Pleasant Botanical Garden with several different areas

By KZ B |

The Japanese Garden & Colarado steppe gardens seemed to predominate, but that could have been because several areas were closed off due to weddings and events.
The art gallery exhibit was very worthwhile visiting.

Fantastic

By Hammbrook |

I have visited Denver many times but this was my first visit to the botanical gardens. It is a must-do experience. Meticulous and methodically laid out. A pleasure for the senses. Don’t miss the bonsai garden or the wildflower/pollinator meadow. The Chihuly sculpture in front of the administration building is spectacular. If I lived in Denver I would be a member. Free parking is available on the garage.

Perfect day trip

By Darcy C |

Amazing. Serene. Great way to spend the day. Wonderful cafe, too.

Get there early to secure parking.

Staff was friendly and helpful.

By Pat J |

Very pretty, well labeled. Family friendly and good for all. The various gardens are well worth the walk. Thoroughly enjoyed the glass house and orchids. Loved the Chihuly art work, especially being from western Washington, is home.

Beautiful way to spend your outdoors

By Jon F |

The gardens were beautiful, even in October, with plenty of colour. We strolled through the many separate gardens, and there was also a small museum with changing art exhibits

By Angela R |

The gardens are beautiful! So many blooming flowers & plants everywhere. Being from Arizona, it was fun to see all the cactus! The different areas were fun to explore!

Nice walk in Gardens!

By CalifSue |

Nice walk around the gardens. Favorite was the Tropical Conservatory. We visited the Children's area across the street, great area for little ones to play.
Had a nice relaxing lunch in the Offshoots Café!

Denver Botanical Gardens

By Sunshineforallseason |

Visited the botanical gardens while on a business trip to Denver. Even though it was mid/late Oct, there were still plenty of blooms and flowers and the leaf colors were amazing. It was decorated for Halloween which was an added experience. I would love to return in spring or summer to see the gardens in their full glory.

Beautiful flowers everywhere

By mitakous |

Although it was raining on the day we visited, the gardens were still so beautiful and full of colorful flowers. A very peaceful and lovely place to spend an hour or two.

So busy!

By Doug Powell |

We circled and circled the parking areas with absolutely no possibility of finding a space to park. I am convinced this is how the Botanic Gardens does crowd control inside. I feel fair warning for people traveling is needed since we drove from north of Fort Collins specifically to visit here. So disappointing and no recourse whatsoever.

Must do in Denver!

By Amanda S |

The gardens were beautiful! It was fun to walk around all of the different gardens to see the different plants. It is very easy to get lost in there, it is huge! It was a very peaceful afternoon, we took about 2 hours to meander through it all. I would love to go back in a month or so to see the new blooms that I’m sure will come! The green houses were amazing as well! I only have good things to say.

Never disappoints

By Kara E |

We have visited the botanic gardens several times. It was a great place to spend time with a friend outdoors. There is always something new and the gardens are gorgeous

Don't Hesitate to Hold Your Event Here

Of course, there was gorgeous fauna and beautiful buildings. I helped organize a wedding here and the staff was absolutely delightful. When we ran into an unexpected storm, they were readily accessible and prepared with a plan for safety.

Do not miss this

Beautiful well maintained and interesting The trees shrubs and water features are outstanding. Japanse garden and rose garden were favorites

By ericva |

Such a peaceful and beautiful spot. Perfect place to go for reflecting and feeling gratitude. Sitting by the pond, feeling the sunshine, and listening to the streaming water. Can’t wait to go back the next time I’m in Denver.

Arid and dry on winter

By Tony G |

I am sure this garden is a beautiful place on summer, but on winter it should stay closed. Save your time, ans donate some money to them to keep this place running, but I am going to let the pictures talk by itself.

Beautiful Gardens

By Les M |

The Denver Botanic Gardens aren't as big as some of the other Botanical Gardens we've visited (St. Louis, San Antonio, etc.) but they are very nice.

Our kids LOVED the childrens garden. It was a great place for them to climb, play and have fun. My favorite was the Japanese Garden while my wife loved the greenhouse.

It took us about 2 hours to see and do just about everything there.

Lovely gardens. Needed an Uber to get there from downtown area.

By Sunshine50by50 |

Lovely gardens. It was a hot day there but lots of opportunities for shade if you walked around. Great pond area with lots of lily pads. We saw a tiny rabbit outside but did not manage to get a photo of it. Indoor glass roofed area was just so pretty. Several of the areas were closed the day we went.

Beautiful garden

By jesfire415 |

Beautiful garden in the middle of a neighborhood. Very well designed. Lots to see and learn. It was in early April so not all the flowers were blooming, but still very beautiful. Would like to come back in the Spring.

Beauty in every direction!

By RAScheuer |

The Denver Botanic Gardens did not disappoint. In fact, they exceeded our expectations. We reserved our ticket for 9am and spent the cooler part of the day in the outside gardens. There were beautiful flower gardens, winding pathways, and wildlife, including hummingbirds. The art galleries were a nice respite from the heat, and the iced coffee and the cinnamon roll pastry in the cafe were perfect. The children’s garden is attached to the free parking, and we enjoyed our last stroll through there before leaving. We spent about 4 hours there, and would probably have stayed longer if it was a cooler day. We will return on our next visit to Denver.

By travelbug6269 |

Spent the day in a gorgeous park. Upon entering, the staff was engaging and helpful. Much to admire along our walks. Plenty of places to sit on a bench and relax, reflect, read, or daydream. After strolling through nature, see some photography and artwork. Lovely gift shop. A day well spent 😎.

Denver Spring

Great outing for family.
Very relaxing atmosphere.
Tulips were incredible. Nice way to spend a spring morning.

Excellent Attraction!!

By blondie16 |

Very pretty botanical garden. Plus besides the wonderful gardens, there were several colorful statues mixed in which added to the scenery. It was fairly large.

Lots of Variety in Calm Settings

By Bernard W |

Reciprocal AHA membership only gets two people in. There are wonderful sculptures amidst the floral displays. The grounds map is now digital rather than paper. Wonderful array of beautiful flora. Large garden with many comfortable seating nooks.

3 hours of beautiful gardens

By N Kraft |

Awesome gardens. Wide variety of plants and types of garden layouts. We spent close to 3 hours here. Japanese and Asian gardens were worth the trip alone. Definitely recommend a visit

Beautiful

By PaulaB212 |

The whole garden is beautiful. It was wonderful to be outside on a sunny day - lots of places to sit and rest or just enjoy the surroundings. There is a kids garden on top of the parking garage - bring swim/water gear - there is a stream that's pretty immersive - kids can get in and build dams, or climbs rocks, or just play in the water on a hot day. It was a great place to spend the morning, and the little cafe makes a nice lunch - sandwiches and cold drinks.

Beautiful and Bountiful Displays To Enjoy

By Ellyk2012 |

Highly recommend visiting the Botanic Gardens for a relaxing and enjoyable outing. The areas are well marked with easy to use maps, beautiful landscapes, Monet style water lily ponds and Japanese style gardens. The Freyer-Newman Center Galleries are connected through the Visitor Center and currently have an exhibition of Salvador Dali Botanic drawings. The gallery building is new and well designed. You do have to purchase online your tickets before entering, easy to do, especially if you prefer using your cell phone right before the ticket counter. There is plenty of parking across the street at the garage or on street parking also.

Beautiful and very well organized extravaganza of lights! Really well curated event with lots of lights and greenery. Loved it!

Lovely gardens...

By TexSuzan |

We had a few afternoon hours after arriving in Denver and chose the gardens to soak in the sun. There is so much to see...so many hidden crannies full of blooms. Orchids were lovely in the conservatory. The irises and lilacs filled the air with sweetness. The girls enjoyed rolling down the hill...over and over and over.

Nice casual outing

By Brittany D |

Nice gardens. Experience best suited for families, couples, or groups as it's not interactive (mostly walking and taking pictures). Easily covered most of the grounds in 2 hours.

A pleasant way to spend a day.

By Marex |

One of the finest botanic gardens in the country. Well-maintained, beautiful and expertly laid out with paved walkways and many well-placed benches to rest your weary feet.

LOVED it!!

By Tammy S |

We've visited her before so knew we were in for a treat! Absolutely loved it again! Wish we could've visited earlier to view more blooms. The layout is perfect. So relaxing and beautiful.

A great day out

By spanishrose1952 |

There was so much to see here, different trees, plants and other things. These gardens are well worth a visit but wear comfortable shoes. The car park gets full very quickly but we were able to find street parking a short walk away

Unique botanic garden

By bspin23 |

I went here years ago when it first opened. So much has changed since then! It’s a unique botanic garden and I loved all of the water features!

By brotherroy |

I was very impressed with the Denver Botanical Garden. I visited on a Sunday morning and while there was a good crowd the gardens are large enough so that you had and could find plenty of room. Many plants I was unfamiliar with as well as some great public art pieces throughout the grounds.

A girl and her bag

By Ms. Kiki |

This has to be the best place on earth. Absolutely breathtaking. I know that I wasn’t able to be in awe of the picturesque view. To fully enjoy the place you will need 5 hours just to really appreciate all of the atmosphere. Please note I was there for 2.5 hours. I feel like I didn’t even see all of the gardens. Great place to have a date, mediate, lunch and think. Just perfect.

Great morning walk through the gardens.

By DianaByrd |

Excellent variety of gardens with well designed layering of planting areas throughout. Tropical area was also wonderful. If you love pkants, you should go.

By TXMARTINS |

The orchid showcase is beautiful in winter when the outside gardens are frozen. In summer the trees bloom over the walkways before the bulbs open and the summer blooms come. In fall the leaves change to stunning colors and the Halloween activities are fun. Easy parking if it’s not an event, otherwise note the signs of where you can and cannot park in the residential areas.

By TravelR |

Botanical garden oasis in the city. Lovely well designed gardens with gorgeous colorful flowers and plants and water features. A great place for a relaxing stroll with plenty of places to just sit and unwind. Cafe food was good but quite overpriced. A wonderful place to explore.

Lovely place.

By Cynthia G |

Beautiful gardens! We had a great time visiting the gardens. Lots of unusual plants and flowers. Great visit.

I guess we were off-season, but not impressed

By lillik932 |

For us, we spent about an hour and were done. It was an awful lot of money for an hour. We also stopped and ate in that time, so…

Maybe I’m spoiled, having been to some other botanic gardens, but this didn’t live up. From the reviews, I thought it was going to be the best one I’d ever been to. Nope. Maybe I’m judging too harshly because I did expect the best, but I felt stupid that we had spent all that money on this. Kids were bored also - they haven’t been bored at other ones we’ve gone to.

Just gorgeous

By RYC88 |

There is a parking area across the street, but the underground parking is not obvious, so don't think the top surface lot is all the parking there is. There are signs that say tickets must be purchased before entering the main building and you can do that by scanning the QR code, however, once you enter the building, there are staff members at the desk selling admission passes. I'm assuming they are trying to keep the staff from being overwhelmed with sales. The actual grounds are fabulous, beautifully laid out, and with plenty of signs with information on the flora and fauna. All the various sections are so thoughtful and the use of water features and sculpture and landscaping is wonderful. It's a huge complex and it's just beautiful and well worth a visit.

Excellent gardens

By jrzj42 |

A surprisingly good selection of plants, trees, etc., arrange in very nice settings. Easy to spend a few hours walking the paths and enjoying all that the botanic gardens has to offer. Worth a repeat visit.

most impressive Botanical Gardens

By Statwest |

Without a doubt the most impressive Botanical Gardens I have ever been to. Well done! We thoroughly enjoyed each section.

A must see

By G H |

I've been to other botanic gardens, but this was the best! From the tropical area to the Japanese garden with the bonsai trees, everything was gorgeous. They even have an art exhibit. If I lived in Denver, I would have a season pass.

See all of Colorado in one stop

By travelwi812 |

#1 thing to know—you must buy your ticket in advance. The tickets cover parking, and are timed for your entry. The gardens are HUGE. I feel like we could have been there all afternoon, but we only had the afternoon. Bring your own bottle of water. There aren’t many places to fill one up or get a drink. There were a lot of secluded places with seating, making this a very romantic place to visit. I especially enjoyed the different Colorado native plant zones. It felt like we had visited all of CO in one stop.

Spectacular Fall Colors

By Gautam R |

We had a wonderful visit here in the Fall. The Park had a Halloween theme, with lots of pumpkins, jack-o’-lanterns, and animal creations come out with pumpkins. The fall color was unbelievable. Very leisurely walk in the park. The Conservatory was mediocre, given how warm it was, there was no real need, to spend a lot of time there.

Tickets must be purchased based upon arrival time and online, and the parking lot across the street fills up fast.

I think we with 2 hours, the entire garden can be leisurely walked.

By Christina S |

I loved visiting the garden. It's located in a neighborhood where there's some occasional car noise, but it offers an immersive nature experience that really connects you to the outdoors. The garden is beautifully maintained, and the variety of plants, flowers, and trees was truly wonderful. There are many benches along the pathways, as well as several ponds and waterfalls. It was exactly what I needed to recharge. I spent several hours there and had a meal at their café. The spinach and feta croissant with a side salad was delicious, and the hibiscus iced tea was perfect. After refueling, I was able to walk through the entire garden. The cost of the food was reasonable as well.
I highly recommend this botanical garden.

Nothing was in bloom

By drwatsonjd |

I feel like this review may not be giving the gardens a fair shot because I didn't get to see it in all its glory. Basically 95% of the plants and flowers were either dead or not bloomed. The sections that were indoors or in greenhouses were nice. The tropical section was closed, I assume due to Covid. There is an art gallery and amphitheater on site, which were nice. I also liked how many benches they had on the property.

If I ever visit Denver again, I'd probably give it another shot, but maybe this time of year wasn't the best time to go.

Gorgeous and World-Class

By slw95756xxx |

Gorgeous with lots of flowering plants and landscaping. Many unique specimens from all over the world. Great layout and facilities. Well worth a visit. Formal tour is unnecessary.

A wonderful experiencee

By Marex |

A very pleasant way to spend an afternoon. Well-maintained and very beautiful with many benches to rest one's weary feet.

Peaceful Journey through nature

By Cyn |

Stunning, lush gardens. Beautiful design with pathways that leads to a multitude of garden spaces. Many benches with places to sit in the shade and take in the wonder of it all.

I tour botanic gardens wherever I travel and this is one of the best. Treat yourself to lunch in the cafe (the quiche is amazing) and plan to spend at least a couple of hours in the gardens to appreciate nature’s beauty.

Beautiful gardens!

By C C |

Attended a wedding at the gardens, and everything was beautiful in the gardens. The restrooms were clean and the gardens were beautiful.

By Courtney E |

The Denver Botanic Gardens were absolutely spectacular. The grounds were so beautiful, the staff was very friendly, and the facilities were clean and well kept up. We would definitely return.

Beautiful Gardens with varied areas

By Pinevalleyite |

We visited the Gardens as one of the places with our City Pass. We took a bus there which was simple and cheap since it's a bit outside of the city proper. We had a wheelchair with us and most all of the areas are wheelchair accessible. We saw lovely gardens and a few buildings. They have some dining options and to take a break, we stopped at one inside the Garden overlooking a pond. It was lovely and they had a really great fresh salad and refreshing drinks with a walk up window. Just lovely. We spent hours there!

By Savannah H |

The Denver botanic gardens were so beautiful and it was so much fun to see all the different plants and flowers!! I would definitely come to Colorado just to go there again!

Outstanding gardens

By Cheryl P |

The Denver Botanic Gardens are so beautiful that we didn't want to leave. Each landscape gently blended with the next and the flowers, bushes and trees are all carefully tended. My favorite was the Japanese garden with a pond and lovely flowers and bonsai trees. Definitely put this on your go-to list,

By Danielle A |

This place is beautiful and so nice to walk through. The variety and care of the plants and flowers is incredible. It was my favorite attraction in downtown Denver.

Fabulous

By McArthur3 |

Simply fabulous gardens with a diverse array of plants flowers and trees. The layout is great with meandering paths all with multiple things of interest. So pleased we spent a morning walking through here. I would say though that the gift shop was something of a disappointment with very limited smaller items of interest though some of the large sculptural items were great.

Gorgeous gardens, reasonable admission

By thirdsunrise |

What a gorgeous park! And so many volunteers! (I saw my future as a retired person wearing a boonie hat and performance shirt and gloves, digging in the dirt.) They were there to present things to a couple of school groups, but happy to share what they were doing with adults, too. The irises and lilacs were in full bloom, and it was cool to see a tropical house featuring plants I *don't* have in my Gulf Coast backyard. Easy, free parking, pretty neighborhood. Gift shop is pricey but full of beautiful things.

Blossoms of Light a New Holiday Tradition

By LThomasCO |

We attended Blossoms of Light for the first time this year and now it will be a holiday tradition. It was breathtaking!

It was too bad because if Covid the indoor tropical part was closed, but I’ve seen it before and it’s amazing.

They often have cool exhibits. The Chihuly a number of years ago is the best exhibit I’ve seen anywhere.

Denver Botanic Gardens: Urban Nature Escape

By Cecilia S |

Denver Botanic Gardens is like a green sanctuary in the city. The gardens are a mix of beautiful plants and calming vibes, making it a perfect escape for families and anyone who loves nature. It's not just a garden; it's a place that feels alive and teaches you cool stuff about plants. With its cozy nooks and changing displays, it's a chill spot to connect with nature right in the heart of Denver.

A nice afternoon out

By Ian D |

What can I say other than it was a great afternoon at the Botanical Gardens. Lots to see. And ice cream!

Surprisingly nice stroll

By yp17 |

Not usually a big fan of gardens but this was very pleasant. Designed well allowing for interactions with other tourists and the friendly squirrels, ducks, frogs and rabbits. Could easily spend a half-day here.

By JenniferWickert |

Absolutely wonderful. A must see while visiting Denver. Even though it was the beginning of September, and blooms should be dying back, the gardens were lush and beautiful.

Good botanic garden with variety

By MyersFamilyTravelers |

Very good botanic garden. Lots of variety, but some of our favorites were the Tropical dome and Japanese Garden (with Bonsai exhibit.). We got there right at opening, so it wasn't too busy, however we noticed it was quite busy when we left. Plan on spending 1 1/2 to 2 hours easy.

WOW!!!!!!

By coolmammaa |

Wow. Just wow.
We first went to the one in Chatfield… boring boring… then went to this one! Just wow. What an amazing and well-maintained place with beautiful plants, flowers, bonsais, wildlife…. Just perfect….. the tropical forest was the most astonishing ever!

One of the few truly beautiful places in Denver

By Erna |

We have visited many botanical gardens. We also really liked the one in Denver. Parking is free right opposite the entrance. The entrance fee is reasonable. We bought the tickets on site.
Due to the heat in Denver in the summer, you should definitely bring plenty of water with you, because the prices in the local café are very high. We paid $20 for two cans of water and two hot drinks, which is absolutely outrageous.
Other than that, we enjoyed the visit. There are many different themed areas, all easily accessible on foot. Nothing seems too arranged or too artificial, they have thought very carefully about how to set up the different areas here.
There are always places to sit, which is also very nice.
There are many special events on offer that sound really interesting. The official website is very informative.
We don't think Denver itself is worth visiting, but the Denver Botanical Garden is.

Walk between greenery and flowers.

By Grace |

A beautiful place, very well cared for, with plants that one can have at home. It gave me a lot of ideas to organize my garden. Ponds with gutters are a dream, they make you want to stay in the place to meditate. It has an outdoor bar ideal for eating or having a drink halfway through the tour, gaining energy and continuing to enjoy so much beauty.

A must do in Denver!

By Misty J |

A beautiful, serene oasis in the city. We spent what felt like minutes, but turned out to be hours here, excited to see each and every exhibit. My favorite is the Chilluly.

By William B |

In fairness to this place, March is not the best time for seeing gardens. The enclosed buildings were excellent and the outdoor spaces were dormant. I still found this a fun place to walk.

Beautiful garden

By awildakaneta |

The Denver Botanic Garden was a wonderful place for us to visit for the first time, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The people that worked in the garden were really nice and helpful. In order to maintain compliance with the city's coronavirus program, The Garden needs visitors to reserve a time slot in advance. The Botanical Garden was quite attractive and thoughtfully designed with the guests' experience in mind. There was activity at the Garden shop. However, this restricts the total number of people who can be inside. The eatery was ready to serve customers with both food and drinks. There are parking spots available at no cost in the Botanical Garden. It is well worth the trip.

Hardly ever open!

By Jason M |

I've tried to go 3 times now. Every time closed for a "special event". Not that special, they are only open about half the time they say they are. Maybe I'll have a different opinion is they are ever open on a Mon-Wed early afternoon when I can visit.

Gardens

By JP |

Had a great time exploring the gardens! There was a lot to see and I definitely recommend wearing comfortable shoes. The coffee shop and gift shop were also great.

Beautiful!!!

By Cindy B |

Denver Botanic Gardens is a great way to spend a few hours strolling through beautiful flowers, plants, water features and many more exhibits. We enjoyed taking our time with plenty of places to sit and rest in the shade on a very hot day.

Gorgeous gardens, reasonable admission

By thirdsunrise |

This is a wonderful garden with friendly staff and volunteers and fabulous flowers. And free parking and reasonable ticket prices. Great place to get outdoors in Denver!

Absolutely worth the trek

By Kate320 |

What a pleasure - and this was for a visit before anything was in bloom. We so enjoyed wandering the gardens, which are beautifully done - even in winter. Made us want to return in May when everything is going crazy. Had a coffee by the reflecting pond, visited the terrific gift shop -- really a lovely way to spend a couple of hours.

Great!

By Larry S |

Outstanding selection of plants. Very extensive property. Would love to go back again to see in multiple seasons. Everyone enjoyed this experience.

Beautiful Place, beware crowds!

By oceanboyleo |

A thoughtfully designed botanical space in the heart of Denver, this garden offers a vast variety of flora across multiple landscaped areas. During my visit, weekend crowds disrupted the sense of serenity typically sought in such environments, and the overall bustle detracted from the meditative pace I associate with botanical gardens. That said, for those seeking variety in plant life, garden architecture, and larger garden grounds, it still delivers well on its promise. Visiting on weekdays or in quieter seasons may provide a more contemplative experience. 7/10

Very well done

By AndyB5542 |

The Denver Botanical garden is well worth a visit. We didn’t have a lot of time, but I’m glad we stopped even for only a half hour.

Everywhere you look, the gardens are beautiful. The ponds were stunning. We didn’t get a chance to go into any of the buildings and it was still wowing!

If it's too cold, they won't let you walk outside!!!! crazy

By Ana P |

No personal autonomy...we usually love the gardens...but this week it was very cold outside and when I came in they told me that we could not walk around on any of the outdoor paths. When I asked why...they said, "it is too cold."
I am from Russia and maybe I have a lower standard of cold, but I was insulted that THEY made the decision that it was too cold for ME to be outside. I had come prepared in my warm outside gear and was looking forward to enjoying the gardens with all the snow and frost. Everyone is so afraid now of anything that can be interpreted as extreme and are precluding me from making my own adult decisions.

To be fair...I only later saw the email they sent me about no outdoor access. It did not occur for me to check my email b/c I was going to an outdoor establishment and so therefore was prepared to be outside.

Simply Gorgeous!

By JuneNY |

This huge botanical garden is a wonderful place to visit. There is so much to see and experience, both inside and out.

Lovely compact botanic gardens

By nyalpi |

Went on a hot day and many people seemed to be there, but still had a very enjoyable time because plenty of benches in shaded areas to rest and enjoy plants without being disturbed. Lots of little trails that felt quite secluded.

Not a very big botanic garden but plenty to see, very varied plant collections.

One entrance/exit only on York street (on a map it looks like it is linked with Cheeseman Park, but there is a fence in between).

Definitely highly recommended for plant and garden lovers!

excellent for a cute date

By sappho |

went to the winter lights garden tour with my partner for new year's eve. it was alright, all things considered! well kept gardens despite the recent snowfall and we got to see a bunny or two hopping alongside us on the paths. nice staff and peaceful atmosphere, would definitely want to go again in the summer or spring to see everything in full bloom!

Loved it

By Lili Y |

Very beautiful garden we saw a lot of animals too.
We saw rabbits birds and even a nest of baby robins. The flowers were beautiful too

Beautiful gardens that are well laid out and maintained

By SergioEvergreen |

The gardens are beautiful, the facility is first class and the whole thing is well maintained. Worth going to again and again as the seasons change, and for the special events.

By Terri H |

What a wonderful place to walk around and admire Beauty all around you. The grounds are so well kept and it’s just so peaceful there. Flowers, plants, ponds, herbs, statues and so much more. It was a perfect way to spend our morning in Denver. We took sooo many pictures and videos. Loved our time in the gardens exploring the abundance of nature and awe!

A torturous trip through Chatfield Farms

By Jay P |

The Chatfield Farms accommodations for handicapped is virtually unusable, and has been made moreso by removing the accessible parking from the front and moving it 1/5 of a mile up a hill into a graveled area almost impossible to navigate. I walked with someone with major impairment as she returned uphill to the parking area. It took her 20 minutes just to go from the garden entry back to the parking lot. And the handicapped parking was well beyond the gate, even then. And the whole way back had not a single resting place (bench, etc.) en route.

I'd discourage anyone from visiting the Chatfield Farms part of the Botanic Garden unless they restore accessibility. On the other hand, ADA compliance attorneys may find a visit very informative.

Always a pleasure

By Jessica W |

The Botanicsl Gardens are beautiful I do recommend bringing a picnic as the food I'd a bit pricey but I could stay here for hours.

If you are not sure about visiting the Botanical gardens in Denver.. Just go.. it is fantastic

By Niels v |

After 11 years living in Denver, first time visiting the gardens.. Simply stunning, what a place. So beautiful, so unique, so stunning.. One of the best places you will ever visit

Very peaceful

By Shelley W |

The gardens are very peaceful and beautiful. There are many different displays of plants. We arrived a bit late in the afternoon and were not able to see everything.

By Leisa J |

This garden was so well planned. With intuitive paths and plentiful shaded benches, it was a pleasure to stroll and view the plants in different themed areas. We loved the ellipsis! And the herbs! We’ve been to several gardens around the country, and this is our favorite for now! Easily toured in 3-4 hours. Lunch by the Monet pond was delightful!

Beautiful!

By IowaSunshine |

I chose to come here with my boyfriend for my birthday in Denver! It was so beautiful! And the weather was perfect! We used city pass and I would gladly come back to the gardens every time
I’m in Denver! The food we ate at one of the cafes was so fresh healthy and delicious. I loved my experience here 💚

It's Nice, But #1?

By JCW703 |

Yes, these are nice botanical gardens with a very wide variety of plants (trees, flowers, bonsais, ponds) and various landscapes. That said, I'm not sure I would say this is the "best" attraction in Denver (or even a "must do").

By Avery397 |

Nice botanical garden. Overall it was beautiful, especially the tulips and daffodils. Unfortunately the bonzai garden was missing bonzais and there was a fair amount of dead plants throught the gardens. We ate lunch at The Hive and the food was delicious.

Overall a good way to spend a few hours on a nice day.

By Sarah W |

We’ve been to many conservatories and botanical gardens within the United States, and this one was amazing! It had beautiful flowers, numerous water features, and relaxing winding paths. There are so many benches to sit and relax, different directions you can explore, and a variety of plant sections. For example, it would have a section with a more arid climate plants while another section was like a forest. There were so many awesome sections that just kept getting better. Even the gift shop was great.

Serenity in the city

By Kathleen M |

Beautiful gardens, water features and cafe. Wide variety of biomes and blooms inside and outside. Amazing gift shop to enjoy.

Pretty nice

By Catherine D |

It seems like the gardens may still be recovering from a rough winter, but for the price it was still worth it.

By Debbie |

This is definitely a worthwhile place to visit. So many interesting diverse gardens to see! There are Monet-inspired water gardens, asian inspired gardens, ornamental gardens, shady gardens, gardens of the west, and a tropical conservatory. There is also a sunken amphitheater and a science pyramid with interactive exhibits. Lots of broad-tailed hummingbirds! Free parking was available in the garage cross the street, but it filled up quickly on a weekend morning. Recommend arriving early if you go on weekends.

One of the Best

By desertswim |

I really enjoyed Denver's Botanic Gardens. They had plants from all different climates, an orangerie, a Japanese Garden, an interactive building for the kiddos, a bonsai area, a hothouse with orchids and other tropical items, and a large lily pool. There is also an informational center that had an exhibit of Ansel Adams photographs (the exhibits rotate, but I was lucky, since Adams is one of my favorites).

Love of nature

By violette27 |

What a fabulous experience with my friend. An amazing setup with a lot of things to see.. such a beautiful place where the word Beauty is at display.. great place for family with kid and adults too .. A lot of things to learn and to discover !!

Spectacular Gardens

By Carol S |

Beautiful gardens and well cared for. We recently visited the gardens on a trip through Denver. It was raining on the day we visited but that di no spoil the beauty of the gardens and and the flowers

Japanese Garden was just one of many highlights

By IpsoFacto99 |

Japanese Garden was just one of the many highlights of our visit. The wide range of flowers and vegetation representing a variety of locations was another....as was our conversation with two docents about the role of beetles in pollinating plants, among other topics. Will definitely pay a visit here on my next trip to Denver.

Great afternoon at Garden

By Frederick R |

Beautiful and peaceful. A tranquil way to spend an afternoon. Also great value for the price. I highly recommend a visit.

The Denver Botanic Garden is well worth your time to explore,

By Elizabeth S |

The staff were pleasant, and helpful in getting around. The plants were well cared for. And the variety of plants, flowers and trees was appreciated.

Garden Fun

By Maureen C |

The botanic gardens is my favorite escape. They have been adding a lot of new things and buildings to check out. I highly suggest going in the day and at night for different experiences. My favorite exhibit is the bonsai exhibit.

Great for families and holiday season

By isletripper |

The evening lights were amazing. The effort made to help the flow of pedestrians throughout the outdoor gardens, and access to bathrooms and snacks/beverages was outlined well. The staff was amazing and helpful when we lost someone.

Beautiful and fun

By Jan T |

The Denver Botanic Garden is a must see if you love gardens. There's something new around every corner from bonsais to tropical plants to cacti to forests and more.

The layout is easy to follow. It's a huge space to feast your eyes on beauty of all colors. The gift shop has some beautiful keepsakes, too.

I would definitely go again.

By travelbug6269 |

Gorgeous park. Much to admire, especially if you like taking photos. Plenty of cozy areas to sit on a bench and reflect, read, or daydream. Absolutely beautiful. Plus, there is indoor photography and artwork to admire. A very nice gift shop and many helpful staff through the premises. Would love to return to decompress among the beauty of the park.

Quiet and Serene Place!

By Anu D |

It's a beautiful garden with a great collection, loved their tropical section. However if you go in expecting a wow experience you won't find that. There are some beautiful spots such as the rainforest building and the lily pad pond surrounded by roses. Otherwise the garden is largely unimpressive. They we visit was beautiful so we just found a quiet corner and sat and chatted.

#stunning

By Lalo S |

This is what I call a garden very beautiful very well taken care of and the folks are just as delightful

Great botanical garden in Denver

By AB_US |

A great botanical garden in Denver. Large with various types of plants, Japanese garden, lots of waterlilies, a great place for anyone that loves Botanical Gardens and art (they even have a Chihuly).

Beautiful!

By DGCouple |

Nice way to spend a couple hours walking around. Buy tickets online in advance during COVID bc spots are limited.

Wonderful and relaxing visit

By CDC19 |

We enjoyed walking through the garden. Even though it was winter time there was still lots to enjoy and the experience was quite peaceful. Had a grown-up grilled cheese & coffee at the cafe. The food was good.

Tranquility Tucked Throughout the Botanic Gardens

By Linda H |

The peaceful pathways of this garden offers a gentle awakening to slow down and simply breathe. The plants from around the world were thoughtfully arranged in every direction, it’s a place where beauty and stillness meet—where you can feel both grounded and uplifted. I left feeling more centered, and deeply grateful for the quiet moments it gave me.

Beautiful and worth the visit

Lovely gardens. So many flowers were in bloom when we visited. We had a great time visiting the gardens.

Very good! Pleasure to live there 3 weeks

Spectacular fate. Denver divine and its surroundings full of natural landscapes and attractions! Lots of outdoor living and nature care!

Nothing in bloom, extremely packed

By Jennifer W |

We visited on Saturday May 1, 2021 and we were surprised at the fact that the majority of the garden was dead... there were very few flowers in bloom. I think you would see more greenery at the park down the street. I thought springtime would be an ideal time to visit a botanic garden but I guess not in Colorado?

It was also extremely packed to the point where it was not fun, and many of the exhibits were still closed due to covid.. you would think if there were still closed exhibits that maybe they would try to limit the capacity ? They had an online ticketing system when we came, you could not purchase tickets in person, and you had to reserve a time slot. However once you go in you’re not limited on how long you can spend there, so by the time we got there in the afternoon it was just packed to the brim with people. They have signs everywhere suggesting people wear masks but around half the people there were not wearing masks. Which might have been okay if it hadn’t been so extremely packed.

This was a waste of money and a waste of time, worst botanic gardens I’ve ever been to. The one sore spot of an otherwise great trip to Denver.

Am I at Disney World?

We arrived at our scheduled time and there was a line stretched halfway down the block waiting to get in. The line moved quickly. There was no line for the gift shop so we took that in before one formed. It was a lovely stop and there were even plenty of live plants for sale. The gardens are truly amazing and the paths are cement or packed stone and extremely wide which made it totally accessible for strollers, walkers, and wheelchairs. We also enjoyed the inside art galleries and rain forest displays.

Well Done !

On our 2 month cross country trip from CT to CA (sea to shining sea) - we stopped here on a sunny early April day.

We have been to Botanical Gardens all over the world and this is right up there. We are members of NYBG and they have a reciprocal admission - nice to get in free.

In bloom was typical spring flowers and were very nice. The water features and sculptures were fantastic.

You can spend all day or even a couple hours for a great visit.

A great place for all ages!

Love all the plants and the beauty this place has to offer! It's right in heart of Denver which is perfect when you're on vacation and you want something fun to do in town!

Oasis in a desert

Extensive, pleasantly landscaped botanic garden with a variety of plantings and plenty of benches. The new education center had three interesting exhibits. I also watched a film Amache Rose, about an internment camp for Japanese Americans held in Colorado. I enjoyed many of the themed gardens, but especially liked the bonsai collection. The Hive Restaurant was a great disappointment. Well meaning, but limited selection. The Garden would be much improved with a sit-down, wait-serviced restaurant. Wine would be nice.

A must do for any lover of nature and beauty.

The Denver Botanical Garden is a feast for the eyes! Extraordinary beauty in the heart of Denver. Went with my daughter and both of us loved the visit.

Perfect for plant lovers

If you love plants and flowers, this is such a great place to go. I really love this and I took a lot of photos.

You WILL see plants you've never heard of before

The best parts that I saw were the tropical house and the reflecting pool full of water lilies. WOW! The tropical house is not exceptionally diverse but it is so well done. Outstanding!

As someone from the eastern US, it was a thrill to see so many plants I've never seen before in the outdoor gardens as well.

It was at my suggestion that my family visited. Although none of them would likely have chosen to go otherwise, my grown daughter, husband, and teenage son had a great time and said they enjoyed seeing so many pretty plants, and gardens in general. Unfortunately, it got really hot after just a couple hours and we left in search of some food and A/C.

As previous gardeners have said, I left with tons of pics of plants that were not labeled. But with the assistance of the friendly folks on the ID forum at National Gardening Association combined with the incredible plant database and mapping system of the Denver Bot. Garden website, I've subsequently ID'ed most of them.

It was so hard to not buy a plant (or a dozen) on the way out but it would have had to be left in the car in the sun on several occasions to drive back across the country.

It is at the top of my list of things to RE-do when again in Denver, and to drive separate cars if someone else wants to come along. I want to see all of it.

Everything is dead during winter

I loved my first visit, and my favorite spot was the Japanese garden; the variety of flora is amazing. The place is also wheel chair friendly, or if strollers for babies. will be back again!

My favorite botanic gardens

This place is amazing! The absolute best botanical gardens I have visited.

Allow plenty of time for your visit. We did. We explored all the massive gardens, spent some time in the Boettcher Conservatory, grabbed some lunch at the offshoots cafe, and worked our way through the Freyer-Newman Art Galleries. Walked by the Science Pyramid and fountains, and also the Hive Garden Bistro. If you get a chance, look at the map before you go it is beautiful but it is a lot. I think the only place we didn't get to swing in was the gift shop as the line was ridiculous to get in.

The Denver Botanic Gardens (York Street) was one of the highlights of the trip and so happy we went for a visit. I highly recommend the gardens if you are ever visiting Denver, or especially if you live in the area and have not checked them out.

abundant beauty flourishes at the botanic garden

After vacationing in various cities around Colorado, this was my favorite spot we visited. We immediately gravitated to the striking Chihuly sculpture that we love finding in various locations we visit. There were so many numerous varieties of flowers and plants with such vibrant colors that it was easy to slowly stroll through and difficult to leave this place. If I lived in Denver, I could easily make frequent visits here to peacefully relax.

So relaxing at the gardens

The gardens were so beautiful and peaceful. The Japanese gardens were particularly pretty. The botanical gardens are such a nice little hamlet right in downtown Denver.

A Lovely Experience

The parking deck across the street offers convenience. Nice gift shop. There are a couple of cafes on the grounds. Beautiful flowers, plants and sculptures. Amazing location that is in the city! A mix of families, school age groups on trips and adults roaming and enjoying the scenery. Safe, no loitering of non-authorized persons. A lovely experience.

Nice gardens and walk

Beautiful gardens in Denver! If you have some time check them out. There’s and outdoor area and an indoor area with tropical plants and little amphibians
