Go at low, low tide for nice tidepools and sea cave walk. The cave area should be avoided at mid to high tides but viewing from the upper area is great then. Parking can get crazy in the summer on weekends. Great for winter storm brewing. See Cape Foulweather while you're there.
Note that beach access will be difficult for people with limited mobility.

Great overlook. We walked way down to the water. Nice little picnic area. Small parking area. Need a national parks pass or similar.

Many people were actually inside this punch bowl when the water was at low tide. They must have come from one of the nearby beaches because you could not reach it from the pull off parking to see the punch bowl .

We saw several unbelievably amazing photos of this place and decided to stop! I guess we didn't come in right time - the water was low and not many interesting photos we were able to take. But we visited and got some experience!

The park is set overlooking the sea at it's most beautiful. The waves crash against the rocks to form feather list sprays into the air for a hundred feet. You can feel the raw beauty that the ocean can offer here. You need to see this great spot!

This is our second time in Oregon and it is beautiful. Punch bowl very interesting to look at, long walk if you want to go in at low tide. Very scenic path to walk around. Went at low tide, want visit it again at high tide.

We initially went at low tide to walk in the Punchbowl and explore the beach tidepools (Otter Crest Beach). We went back for sunset on the same beach later and took a peek at the Punchbowl from up above with water in it--not high tide but still fun to see it looking so different. Parking is tight but you could park down a bit and walk. It was fun to walk around during low tide and see all the rock formations (it is a different parking area for beach access).

We went when the Tide was still out, but was already starting to make it's way back in. We wanted to go down and look around inside, but didn't want to risk it. So we just viewed from above.
Still very awesome, but we will back for another visit and hopefully we can get down and explore the inside and also see it full with water too.

This was such an interesting place, and I wish that we would have had the time to explore the inside of the Punchbowl.

The Devil's Punchbowl area is full of natural beauty. The punchbowl puts on a display when to tide is up, the tidal pools when it is low and the surfers high or low.
The Oregon Coast is full these natural wonders.
And, you can always try spotting whales..

We saw a sign that said RV parking but never located the parking lot for RV’s. Perhaps all the cars and vans just made it into a regular parking lot. We asked if anyone knew where it was and no one had a clue. We did not find a place to park our truck and trailer. This may be worth it if you time the tide right otherwise not much to see unless you are looking to enjoy a nice walk on the beach or a picnic in the grass.

It was low tide so didn’t look quite as devilish but still worth seeing. I recommend it anytime. The water was too low to come rushing onto the bowl as it does during higher tide.

It was truly beautiful and fascinating to see and watch. Could have stood there all day watching! Definitely worth the stop! Need to be able to hike and climb on the rocks tho...

We visited Devil's Punch Bowl this weekend with the kids; they loved seeing the 100's of surfers and then seeing the punch bowl. We did not climb down to the beach but maybe next time. We thought it was a perfect spot to take break!

OK... interesting... tide was out. Would love to see it with tide in. Did winetasting stop at Flying Dutchman. Wines ok... but better wineries inland... Willamette Valley.

You get a wonderful view of this bowl carved out of the soft rock by the action of the waves over ,any years. This is definitely worth visiting if you are in the Newport area.

Have been here twice. Once at high tide and again at low tide. At high tide you can view it from above to see the water filling it up. At low tide you can take the path down to the beach and actually walk inside the bowl. The beach is amazing and it’s a popular surfing area so after experiencing the bowl you can sit on the beach and watch surfers. Lots of neat things like caves to explore at low tide around here. Will certainly do this stop again!

It’s the place to be awesome tide pools on the right beach and good surfing on the left. The punchbowl’s beautiful and so is the area surrounding. If you walk down to the right beach you can go inside the punch bowl! My daughter was asking to go back every day. Awesome starfish and urchins you can see also quite a few sea anenmonies. Milkshake shop is wonderful as well.

This area was beautiful and picturesque. Didnt hit it on a really high tide, but still a great site. Saw surfing. Noted a restaurant and other small shops right there.

We visit every time we are on the coast. Beautiful views and there’s a fun little wine shop right there.

Devils Punchbowl is quite interesting to see. This stop won't take you long but it is a must see in my opinion. Have your camera ready, the view is spectacular. There is a wine tasting place there if you are so inclined.

Unique view of city skyline and nature area. Amazing to see the depth of the bowl and the story behind it. Plants around shelters area. Look out gives you a view to Toronto on a clear day. If adventurous you can climb down the hill, not the bowl.

Bring a windbreaker, this place is always gusty. The water rushes through the punchbowl, crashing and churning. lt is fun to watch, especially at high tide.

Great time! The punch bowl is a wonderful stop at high tide! There is limited parking no fee and a trail that leads down to the beach. Apparently at low tide you can get down into the bowl...although I’m not sure your supposed to!

This place is magical and is best for big storms if you don't mind getting wet. Hugh, crashing waves, they really mean of the devil. On calm days you have a great chance to see whales and as usual, the curvature of the earth. This is why we love the west coast versus the east coast. Its wide open for all here. No private beaches in Oregon, yea oregon. Guess I'll keep letting you pump my gas.

The main draw is views of waves in the punchbowl, but we also enjoyed views all along the bluff as we walked the short paved path along the protective fence. Great views of waves crashing on the rocks are a delight for photographers. Whales could be seen in the distance.
This area is just off the Otter Crest Loop, and the parking area is small. Overflow parking along the road leading to the parking area results in a short walk uphill.

Nothing breathtaking g but it was a cool little stop and something you don’t see everyday. We made sure we went wine tasting in the same little parking area.

We thought we were going to the beach. We explored tide pools. , walked on the ocean. We were surrounded by massive rocks.
Even though it was foggy, people were swimming in the ocean.
The beach was perfect for the tourists.
All of a sudden, we saw lots of people. We found the Devils Punchbowl State Natural Area. We were above the Punchbowl and found how to get there. We had to walk by foot, take our shoes off and head inside the Devils Punchbowl State Natural Area.
It was amazing. We were in a Punchbowl. The high tide was coming soon. We took many pictures. It was amazing!
This is a must see!
What a great day we had!

We were lucky enough to see a Grey Whale & watched it for over an hour!!! The view itself is breath taking!! Seeing the whale spout, then it's back followed by it's tail-extra plus!!

A beautiful location and area. Parking spots are how lucky you are that day. You will understand how it got its name after seeing it.

We visited this during a trip to nearby Newport. The waves were small, so we didn't see very much water filling the bowl.
A nice visit!

I took four photos of the Devil’s Punchbowl to water the different water levels. First, when we arrived. Later, after exploring the north Beach tidal pools. Then, after lunch at Moe’s. Finally, after exploring south beach and watching surfers. You can easily spend a day here. We arrived about noon, but wish we’d gotten there a few hours earlier to be able to hike in the very bottom of the Devil’s Punchbowl. As it was, the tide kept us from that adventure, but still enjoyed our time immensely and look forward to returning someday.

If you're staying in the area, a lot of hotels have a tide chart, because so many activities are around the tide pools and the ocean. Pick one up and go visit the Devil's Punchbowl at high tide. We stopped there on our way up the coast and it was low tide so the action of waves exploding against the rocks was not as spectacular as it might have been. Still it was a very interesting place to visit with views of the beautiful coast, wildlife and a nice walk along the bluff overlooking the surfers along the shore and whales feeding in and around the kelp beds near shore.

...so didn't get to hike down to the basin, but surrounding area very nice and parking wasn't to bad. Park also had a chain seafood cafe and ice cream shop across the parking lot. Great place to take pictures!

We enjoyed exploring this area. The Devils punch bowl was beautiful amongst the rolling waves and blooming flowers. There are walking paths and picnic tables in the area to use.

There is so much to see along the Oregon coastline, and the Devil's Punch bowl is a must-see. Free parking, and self-guided so you can take as much time as you like to experience this natural wonder.

This is best viewed as the tide is coming it. If possible it would be nice to see it with the tide out and then when the tide is in. The best view is from the beach when the tide is out. Their is beach access from the first street below it. Check the tide charts and go when the tide is out and you not only have a good view of it but you also have great tide pools you can explore.

We enjoyed this small area. The punchbowl is really unique. It's worth visiting if you are looking for a convenient location to view some wonderful mother nature. Part of the pathway was closed off while we were there.

There are several stopping points along the Oregon Coast. There is a walking trail and it’s Always a different scenery I have been during all seasons. One of my favorite startes to travel.

It sure sounds neat and something that shouldn't be missed but like many places on the road it's a bit overhyped.
Yes there is a hole in the rock and yes the water swirls in and out, but for obvious safety reasons the best view you're going to get of it is from the pictures you see on the brochures on line.
very limited parking and has the feeling of a tourist trap more than a natural area. if you have time stop... if you pass it up you havn't really missed anything you can't see from the pictures.
Actually the most interesting part was looking at the paved walkway pieces that had eroded away. maybe at one point you could look straight down into the punchbowl... but no longer

We stopped on a gorgeous, windy day and had a frigid (and fast) picnic here. The views were amazing though and the punch bowl itself was interesting. It is not far off the highway, but the turn is a bit tight when going southbound.

Driving down the coast and I just looked to see what was enroute to our next destination. Found this gem. It was a perfect stop, easy to get to off the highway, and nice little walk. Lots of stairs to get down to the beach area but if you just wanted to see the punch bowl you can actually drive right up to it. It was a foggy rainy day for us but the incredible power of the ocean was amazing to witness.

I love coming here to see the bowl. Its great to wander around with family and the dog. We were able to see a few whale spouts on one of the nice weather days. Also a great place to watch wicked winter weather and waves crash against the rocks. There is no shelter, but there is a bathroom.

I gave this place a 5 because I had my first whale sighting here. Definitely bring binoculars ! Also good cliff-side viewing of sea otters in a kelp bed. Nice park area and a beach around the point.

Went at low tide and saw people walking at the bottom. Worth the time to go see it. Tide pools much better at Yaquina Head Natural Area but the stair descent and climbing back up was good exercise!

First visit to Punch Bowl. Spectacular! Especially since the sun was out, which is a rarity for the coast in March. What else can I say? Dress warmly, the wind can bite.

Overcast day on coast. Great view of this geologic marvel! Easy to view. Park at end of road or in state park lot and take short walk to top of road. No fee or permit required.

We stopped by on two separate occasions and agree with other reviews that each time is different. We heard that low tide was the best time to visit, unfortunately we visited somewhere between low and high tide so we didn't get to make it inside but the view from the top (parking lot) was good. We spent some time on the beach itself and came across a whole bunch of individuals surfing (learning to surf) and had a picnic. Nice beach, picnic areas, restrooms and a wonderful view.

Close up and personal. Saw several spouts very close, and a bit of their shining black bodies folding back into the kelp bed. Quite close to the path. May have been a smaller one as well. Twice saw a pectoral fin rise out of the water most of the way. The sea was quiet so no big waves bursting out of the punchbowl, but it was a beautiful day, and the surfers were doing the best they could with a calm sea.

We were driving by and stopped to see the Devil's Punchbowl. I wouldn't go out of my way to see it, but if near, it is worth the stop.

Breathe taking views. A must see. Eat at Mo’s that is right there and definitely try the Marionberry Cobbler. There is a path around the area that lets you see several different areas to see.

Definitely take a stop here if driving up 101. Beautiful area. There were people down below but we didn't have time to walk down there. Looks like that would have been fun though.

I enjoyed watching the surfers.
I was there midweek, and midday. In the middle of September.
There was close to 2 dozen surfers with people coming and going.
Oh, and the tide pools are great!

Neat little stop if your driving the Oregon Coast. It was really windy the day we went however it allowed for cool effects when the water hit the rocks.
Would recommend to someone who enjoys nature and natural beauties.

Pictures do not do this place justice. Check tide tables and get there an hour before low tide. Parking at top and you can see the bowl over a fence from the top. If you want to go down into it take a right at the sign that says RV parking across from public bathroom and beach access is about a block away. It will get busy but not bad, people show up at posted low tide so that's why you get there early. Great place to watch Whales from as well.

View was pretty on a gorgeous day.
We were not smart enough to view it at high tide so the punch bowl was empty.
Kids loved walking down to the beach to the south of it and playing on the rocks and waves. The walk back up the steps was A LOT HARDER than the walk down the steps!
Had ice cream at the shop up in the parking area. Servers were nice. Ice cream was okay to good. They gave big portions but I didn't find anything special about my mint chocolate chip.
Parking was difficult but we were fortunate to find a spot as we turned around and someone pulled out.

What an incredible view with access close by to the beach. You could see whales migrating north, but they were far out. It wasn’t to crowded and the beach walk gave us a nice three mile walk.

We went out on a Saturday. Parking is very limited. There is a short paved trail around the area with beach access. This gives a good view of the Devils Punch Bowl from above. We did not stay long but enjoyed the views and sound of the ocean.

This was a beautiful little spot. Make sure you can handle lots of stairs and the right shoes. It’s hard walking on the rocks with flip flops.

It was very foggy that day that we came to visit, but though not so clear, we still manage to take pictures but kind of hazy.

Another great place along the Oregon coast to stop and watch the power and majesty of the ocean as it throws itself against the rocky face of the cliffs.
You stand and watch the action and become mesmerized by the shear splendor of the never-ending cycle of the waves, yet just around the point, it is very calm, a true dichotomy.

When we went just after high tide, not much wave action was occurring so the punchbowl lacked punch.

Go at LOW TIDE (check tide charts!!! it's different time every day!) - , preferably arriving half an hour **before** the posted lowest tide - then you won't be caught wading out in calf-deep water if you spent too long inside mesmerized by various tide pool inhabitants.
Entry into the bowl below is tricky - even though I took notes from one of the previous TA reviews. In the end, a local resident took pity and walked us to the poorly marked entrance to the path. It's NOT at the overlook
- you have to walk about 2 to 3 blocks "into" C Avenue down a narrow divided car driveway,
- and you will see a small white sign on your LEFT.
- walk down there 150-200 feet and you will hit sand.
- Then you turn LEFT when you are at the beach and the actual rock grotto is a few hundred feet to the south end of the beach.

There are a lot of great places to explore the coast but this one is really worth a stop. Great vistas and exciting ocean action.

We visited this place this July. Parking is kind of tough but worth the view. The view of the shoreline and the view of devils punchbowl is amazing. We even got to see 4 to 5 Gray whales while we were there. We would definitely come back again.

We tried hard to beat the high tide so we could walk the beach down inside the punchbowl. Didnt happen...view from the top trail was still worth the visit. Small circle blacktop trail that shows cliffs. Looks like its slowly falling in, parts seems sketchy to stand near edge. Recommend looking at tide chart to head over at low tide. Access to beach is down the road north of the bowl.

Go at high tide. Is a great place to stop for a break. Raining when we were there but toughed it out!!

The Devil's Punch Bowl is located at the end of a peninsula that overlooks the ocean on three sides. The Bowl is unique in that you can walk in it during low tide but then it has water in it at high tide. It was fun to see it during both phases. There is a lovely walkway along the cliff with beautiful views. If you walk toward the left of the Punch Bowl and follow the path around, there is a gorgeous huge beach with lots of surfers. It was really fun to watch them from up so high!

Two collapsed sea caves form the Punchbowl. It doesn’t shoot whales out of top but it is pretty cool and there’s a nice trail around the adjoining park area. Public restrooms are down the street by the beach access and parking area in the stone building. Parking is tight in July & August.

This is a lovely spot to stop in the winter months to see the crashing waves. We stopped in the summer, and unfortunately there were no crashing waves at that time. Off season it is still scenic and beautiful to see, so it is worth a stop. If you want to see the crashing surf through the Punchbowl, you must visit during storm season.

While traveling with my friend we stopped her 2 times. Unfortunately it was low tide so very little water was in it. Beautiful colors on the rocks. Definitely a must see.

Our final stop before our hotel on an afternoon drive up the coast was at Devil’s Punchbowl. It is located not far off Hwy 101. Parking along the road fills up at the end of the road, so we had to park a few blocks from the beach in some additional public lots.
Signage directing you to the overlook was not great, but we soon located it. You follow the road that dead-ends into the coast and then take the path to your left. Devil's punchbowl is a sort of cove / arch that is in danger of collapse, so you can only view it from above and at a distance. I was picturing more of a standing arch that you could walk to. It was okay for a brief stop.
There are nice views of surfers a few yards away from atop the cliff on the opposite side of the bluff from the first overlook (just keep walking away from the road). It might be interesting to drive down to whatever beach that was and watch the surfers from closer range.
Along the approach road within a block of the coast there are a few small businesses - an ice cream shop, a wine tasting room, maybe a restaurant? We didn't spend a lot of time here as it was too early for dinner and we wanted to press on to our hotel.
As stated, not a bad quick stop, but the adjacent surfing beach might be even better.

We stopped on a foggy day but the waves were spectacular. We watched the waves thunder into the sandstone punch bowl and walked to the south edge of area and watched surfers attempted to ride with one successfully ride into shore. Beautiful area.

I've heard about this, and I was in the area and thought I would check it out. I wasn't disappointed. The area has a bunch of different views of the Pacific Ocean and the view of Devils Punchbowl was awesome. A must see if you're in the area.

There are also whale bones here. We were here at the bad tide but even then it's a very nice spot to stop on the way

Stopped by the Devil’s Punchbowl and was in awe! This is such a cool place. We were there at low tide, so it wasn’t full but it was still amazing. We tried to walk into the bowl but the tide was starting to come in so we didn’t make it. The were some really cool tide pools close by, very cool place! Don’t miss it if in the area.

A real surprise along our travels to the Oregon coastline. The "punchbowl" was created from years of ocean crashing up against the coastal rock wall. The surrounding area is beautiful. Mo's is right there for lunch and there is also a nice picnic area if you bring your own grub. Please be respectful of the natural beauty and don't litter..

During our Oregon Coast drive, we stopped at the Devil's Punchbowl for a quick visit. When we came on Tuesday 7/27 in the morning, it was low tide and there was no water in the hole. We even saw some people inside. Parking was easy and it was a short walk to the viewpoint. No fees to enter.

Enjoyed stopping by but you probably have to be there at the right time. Limited parking. A couple of nice shops nearby for wine tasting and purchasing candy/fudge. Pretty easy to get to.

1.8miles roundtrip... very easy to walk down to the beach and you go through a "tunnel" under the road to get to the beach. Lots of tide pools. So fortunate to go when it was low tide. We got amazing videos of the Punchbowl bursting out!

We were not able to time our visit with the tides so, of course, it was low tide; however, it is still an amazing sight. Definitely worth the time to stop by.

Great place to view diverse shore features. Lots of parking restroom. A small area along the edge of the viewing area is closed off because the cliff is eroding into the path but you can safely avoid it and still see everything

Sunny days in Oregon are scarce! Waking up to the sound of the surf, relaxing with coffee and then heading out for a walk lead us to Devil's Punch bowl. Plenty of room for parking, usable telescopes, and a well maintained area helped us appreciate the natural beauty of the area. Wild birds, crashing surf, and plenty of sun welcomed us to see the waves filling the collapsed cave. We vowed to return at the different high-tide times to view the spectacle.

Walked here from Inn at Otter Crest. Rainy afternoon not many people here. Easy to see and view the “Punchbowl”. Stopped and did wine tasting also.

How did I not know that you can walk into the punchbowl? I'm a born and bred Native Oregonian and have spent my whole life visiting the coast. Go into Otter Crest, walk down to the beach and take trip into the bowl. I'll admit, my heart pounded a bit as even though the tide was out, it still was roaring and trickling in a little!

Great Views, interesting shops also. Nice drive. Powerful waves smashing up inside the rocks was awesome.

We visited at high tide and the devils punch bowl was churning. My son said it looked like a big latte. We walked the path around the area and saw surfers and lots of whales. Well worth the short hike from the Inn at Otter Crest. It's beautiful and nothing like I've seen before.

If you were in the area around Depoe Bay, you should certainly allocate some time to do the Otter Loop and stop at the Devil’s Punchbowl. The punch bowl itself is a fascinating rock formation. You can get great pictures from the viewpoint above. And there are nice panoramic views of the coast line. There’s also plenty of free parking in the area. Definitely worth a visit.

Devil’s Punchbowl is right off Coastal Hwy 101. We didn’t hike down since the tide was turning high, but you can walk down to the beach and check all kinds of wonderful sea life and landscapes were just spectacular👌🏽The Winery is definitely a perfect oasis, they have an outdoor area that is beautiful with a view of the beautiful Oregon beaches in the back drop.

Quick walk to the punch bowl area and surroundings. Better to see during high tide. Would recommend for nature lovers.

My husband's cousin wanted to show us this place at the ocean. Unfortunately the water was not in it and she said she didn't check the tide. You can walk in but should be careful about the time. Nearby was car park but very busy and we've been just lucky as we spotted car going away so we quickly filled the place. There is also picnic area and fantastic views on beach and ocean.

We visited on a very calm ocean day and the punchbowl did not impress. I am sure that on days with good ocean waves it would be much better but it was a good visit anyway.

We went on a very cold blustery foggy day. They have the area fenced off, but you can look down into the punchbowl. We went between low and high tide, so you could look down into the bowl. The area itself has some pretty views and lots of surfers nearby.

Parking is at a premium close at the actual bowl, but there are two additional parking lots a short distance away. The southern parking lot features flush toilets and easy access to the beach, where you will find beach combing families and surfers alike. We were there at high tide, hopefully our next visit will be at low tide so we can explore the tide pools

We were able to see this both at high tide and then go tide pooling in it at low tide. Such a fun place, highly recommended. Get the clam chowder at Mo's afterwards.

There was a nice view from the outlook down on the surfers on the southern beach. The northern shores are more rocky. The punchbowl can be easily seen just up north. It is definitely better to go during high-tide when there are lots of water and waves.

People complaining that nothing to see at low tide from the top aren't wrong. But if you get there in time to get inside, DO IT! Access the beach on the north side by driving down C Ave to the far parking lot on the left. Walk down the dead end street to the path to the beach. I went in as the tide was coming back in. I had to walk through ankle deep water on the way in and spent 5-10 min taking pics and had to wade through knee deep water on the way out. So be mindful of what the tide is doing when you go in, but definitely worth a look.

Location has great waves but got to visit with a Kings tide that had phenomenal waves to see and spray flying over site and the highway too.

The parking area is very congested but be patient as many people stay for 10 to 15 minutes at a time. We circled around twice before we got a space. Although we did not walk down to the water and much of the paved path was closed due to sinkholes we were able to see the punch bowl at high Tide.
I use a rollater and was able to walk on the paved portion of the path to get a good view of the punch bowl in the ocean. There are a few stores and a small café along the street near the parking area.Everything was pretty crowded so we didn’t go in.
The little park does offer a few picnic tables so would be an OK place to have a picnic lunch.

The tide must have been going out, so the punchbowl was't as awesome as it can be! But, the parking area is right there, easy access. Very pretty area!

This was an impressive site to see. We were shocked to see people inside of it, including kids. It looks very scary. We took a lot of pics. Put it on your list of stops. It is a quick stop.

Go here during high tide...a must see! The water churns and gurgles through the "punchbowl"! Nice area for a break or picnic as well!

This was an amazing place, pictures just don't do it justice. The area was easy to access and the walking paths were great. Would definitely go back.

We have seen this natural wonder hundreds of times. You never get tired of spending time in the area especially watching the ocean water move in and out of the punch bowl rock formation.

I would consider this at the top of out vaca outings list. We all loved walking around and seeing all the sea life in its own (and real) environment. For the most part, you have to keep your eyes peeled in order to see a lot of the hidden gems...we even caught a glimpse at an octopus!

This is a quick stop for anyone that enjoys to crazy beauty of the Oregon Coast. The waves crashing on the outside of this nature made "bowl" are fascinating to watch. Inside the swirls and bubbles remind one of a witch's caldron.
Wine shop and Mo's (open seasonally) are on site.

We stopped and took pictures from the lookout on top during high tide and it was amazing. During low tide we walked down the stairs to the beach and my husband went inside from an opening on the side. It is a natural wonder and worth stopping to check it out.

Very cool place - a rock formation in the shape of a bowl with an arch opening on the sea side. I hear it looks much different when the tide is high with the waves crashing against the shore an how the Punch Bowl fills and empties.
We visited early one morning so the tide was down but off shore +- a mile were a few Whales. Very cool to see them, so we pretty much hung out for an hour and watched them breech every 5-10 minutes. Didn't get any really good pictures since they were so far offshore, but you can tell they are whales.

Unusual sea and rock formations along the rugged Oregon coastline. Also in the Otter Rock and Cape Foulweather area. Windy and showers when we visited. Please park in the public parking areas and respect and avoid the private homes in the area.

This is a beautiful place to visit. Make sure you go at High tide to get the best views. We did get to see some whales of in the distance.

What a wonderful view just breath taking. Small path, squirrels. On this trip we viewed whales in the back rising and diving.

Great place to take a rest. Nice little park to have lunch in. BRING Peanuts in the shell, the squirrels will love you. Or Doritoes, they went nuts. There's a Mo's across the street, but we had already packed a lunch. Go when the tide is in for full effect of the blow hole at the Punch Bowl. Still cool though.

Beautiful views from above. head down to the beach for a closer view. Parking lots fill early so get here early. Must stop when traveling to Central Oregon coast

Maybe we were there at the wrong time of day or the seas were just too calm, but the devil's punch was a little flat. We'd also been told it was a good area for birding but we didn't see much in the way of birds. On the other hand, there were two or three whales (gray, we were told) to be seen and that *was* pretty swell.

Best to view this is at high tide. A lot of local places offer tide schedules so get one for the area and stop by at the right time. This is a quick stop, unless you plan to gaze for a while. Only one short path but some nice little spot for a picnic.

From afar it is really nice, walking down next to it is really exciting. One never knows when the water will gush up and either soak you or blow over your head.

Love coming here! We see something different every time we come. This time we happened to make it closer to high tide. As we were walking the trail we heard a seal. It was a baby seal in the cove. We stood and watched it for a while. Nice place to enjoy nature and relax.

We were here on a cold September day but there were surfers, all geared up in wetsuits! We only took a short walk. We would've gone down to the beach had it been warmer. There is a little winery there and we bought some Devil's Punchbowl wine which was quite good. It's a pretty drive, I'd do it again.

Such an interesting place, when the tide comes in the punchbowl explodes. lovely, and very hiking trails, picturesque. Definitely worth stopping and taking the time to see...

I imagine from reading the negative reviews they didn’t go down to the bowl but viewed it above. We went at low tide and it was breathtaking. Watch your step it’s slick but even my 4 year old managed it fine. Even more impressive are the tide pools to the right.

Great view. Must see when your visiting. So peaceful to watch the waves swirl inside. We visit 2-3 times a year and it never gets old. Take binoculars, last time we saw a whale.

If you’re touring the coast, this is an interesting spot, especially with a big plus tide with a healthy wind behind it.

Although time has not been kind to the Devils Punchbowl itself by excess erosion, the area here has some fantastic panoramic views. Plan on a visit to say you at least came and saw.

Another stop along our drive. It was during the low tide so not much wave action, however it does give good perspective of how high the tides can get, and all the actions that take place then.

A good place to stretch your legs. Walk around a bit or maybe have a lunch. No charge for this attraction.

We stopped while traveling the Oregon coast. Pretty impressive and the views are great. Pictures came out great.

The punchbowl is cool, but even more enjoyable for me was walking along the rocks near the shoreline around the bend, taking pics of the surf crashing on the rocks.

We really loved this stop and spent longer than expected. Beautiful views at low tide. Can imagine the beauty at high tide!

While in Newport, I stopped by to see what the hype was all about. Being on vacay mode, of course is didn’t wake up early enough to arrive during low tide. By the time I arrived, the water was already slowly coming in making it difficult to get to the bottom without getting wet.
My suggestions is you check the tide times online and got when it is at the lowest. The activity is completely free and has spectacular views.
You will find access to the beach via stairs in front of public bathroom.

While we have visited this area several times before, this was the first visit in winter. It was spectacular! The ocean was wild and provided a much more interesting action background for viewing. Seeing Devil's Punchbowl is always fun, but be sure to walk all around the area including the stairs that take you down to Beverly Beach. Awesome!

This place is beautiful and it was fun to look down at the surfers. There are a few shops and places to eat around the park. The park has picnic tables which are so nice to sit down and enjoy the scenery.

Worth the walk down to enter the bowl. Make sure you hit at low tide to enter. We went back to see it beginning to fill too...about 2 hours later.

Make a stop here a priority on your trip to the Oregon coast. So much beauty that is breathtaking and stunning.

This is a beautiful place to visit. During low tide you can walk in side and take photos. At the viewing center there is a small Mo's cafe , a wine tasting shop and an ice cream shop/ fudge shop during the summer

Unique and beautiful! It was raining and cool, but worth seeing. We spent 15 minutes there and enjoyed the views.

I was slightly disappointed in our visit to Devils Punchbowl, but it was mostly due to timing. The tide was not low enough to be able to walk around the bottom and the tide was not high enough to make the Punchbowl look full of water - we were sort of in the middle which made it a slightly less amazing experience. We did, however see a whale out in the water which was really cool.

This place is a must see. A great place for some awesome pictures. We visited in September to avoid all the tourists and it worked. You could see the devils punch bowl in peace without having to deal with the crowds. It's a relaxing place to just stand and enjoy the sound of the swishing water and watching the water come in and out.

some very nice views of the punch bowl and what nature created so many years ago. have been here many times always seems to be different

We miss low tide and opportunity to visit the punch bowl and explore it inside. But it’s easy to get to after Newport heading north.

We were stopping at various sites on our drive north up Highway 101 and this was one of the places we visited. It's at the end of the road and offers some nice views of the Oregon coast. It's an amazing hole in the rocky Oregon coast and shows what the power of the ocean can do. It was a bright sunny day when we visited, but the wind was whipping pretty good making it a bit chilly. Still, a nice stopover.
There are picnic tables and a walkway along the point. It's a nice stopover on your drive. Worth the sights.

Plenty of parking, insane surfers in 50 degree water, and the views are great! We saw whales at the closest we've seen to shore. It was delightful.
If you're looking to hike, this is not the place for you. Head up highway 101 and hike the Selisham Spit to the point where the seals congregate. Just Gorgeous.

This is a great stop when traveling down the highway. You can walk right up to the site from the parking lot. We went during low tide and it was still very cool. There is a short walk to the beach from here too.
There are restaurants and restrooms nearby.

This stop was on my list of must sees. If you are coming from Newport then there is a sign off Coastal Highway 101. Once you make the turn there is not another sign so it’s easy to drive past. There is a sign coming from the opposite direction. Coming from Newport just remember to turn at the sign for MO’s Restaurant. The punch bowl was something to marvel and for those brave souls one can venture inside.
Worth a quick stop. Parking can be tight.

Devil's Punchbowl is fascinating. This area of the Oregon coast is beautiful and has a lot of amazing coast sites to view. It is a must when you visit the Oregon Coast.

It's a short walk to see and worth it. Beach access too. A surf shop and food place right by it as well.

Great views, even in winter months. An Oregon Coast must see. Free parking. The small park is under renovation, just in time for spring and summer. Stop in for a great view!

Fun stop. Good parking. Most people try to hit it at high tide. We did low tide, still pretty.
After that, take the walking path to the left and you’re likely to spot a bunch of surfers to watch.
Throw in Cape Foulweather while you’re in the area. It’s just a quick drive up the road. Beautiful drive and views.

Devils Punchbowl is a total Oregon Coast standout! It’s this massive, hollowed out rock formation that looks like a giant cauldron. At high tide, the waves churn inside like a violent, foamy brew super dramatic to watch from the cliffs. If you catch it at low tide, you can actually hike down into the bowl itself. It’s a bit of a scramble over slippery rocks, but the sea caves and tide pools are legendary!

Must see on trip down the coast. Worth the stop! Even better to view in the blustery conditions we have in winter.

What a great place to witness the difference between tides! Went at low tide and back for high tide! Simply breath taking! Truly incredible for someone from north central america!

Great views of a natural deviation in the coastline. Relaxing watching this Punch Bowl fill with each wave. Brought my visitors to see this and all enjoyed this State Park.

Always like the scenery of the west coast. Appreciate the number of state run scenic areas along 101. This no exception. Interesting area, wish we had more time to walk around and take it all in.

Try to schedule your visit around high tide for the best viewing. There is limited parking but during our visit there was no problem parking.

It is a nice little site just off the highway and well worth a stop.
And...there be Whales!
Even in the off season for whales (Dec thru April) there are resident gray whales here and in Yaquina Point. We saw several (or mybe one on several occasions?
Definitely bring binoculars. We also saw a Bald Eagle siting on top if an evergreen tree overlooking the water. (And a pregrine falcon on Yaquina Point)

it's a cool location but parking is tight. Worth the effort but be aware it gets crowded. You will immediately know were to stand to get the best picture.

The Devil's Punch Bowl is a must see while on the Oregon coast! The colors and wave action will take your breath away. Bring your camera and layers of clothing as the weather is mercurial.

Whether visiting or just in the area come check out the Devil’s Punchbowl. Take the time to hike down and explore. Enjoy the scenery.

We just love to see this amazing natural attraction in action. This is one that you will want to take lots of photos; one of a kind.

I've been visiting the Devil's Punchbowl State Natural Area since the Spring of 2007 and almost every time I make a trip to Newport or Lincoln City, I try and stop by and take a quick break and a look at this really interesting natural wonder. Sure it's basically a hole in a cave, but it's really neat to see how massive the space is. Seeing the tides come in and out account for different views inside the punchbowl as well!
I'd advise taking about 30 minutes to an hour and just stopping by and walk around the cliff side and take in the views. Great for families to stop and have a picnic lunch as well on a beautiful sunny summer day!
-Rick V.

We saw Devils Punchbowl in high tide. We found a parking spot near by and parked. There is a fence and a trail going along the fence. We just walked up to the fence and it was right there. It was memorizing to watch. We didn't go on the trail, so I can not tell you about that. This something I saw on Instagram and am very happy I saw it.

Nice place to stop for photos. Small park with picnic tables. Located north of Newport on the drive to Depoe Bay.

This is a beautiful area. It was a cold and windy day. There were a lot of visitors. I also saw sealions.

This is a very interesting place to visit, it is so cool the way the rocks are and at different times of day the water comes in so neatly. Neat that you can walk down to the water and explore. Also on the other side they go down to ride the waves.

Only short stop there, about half hour. But there is only limited view to hole, if you don't go down to beach

We stopped here twice today once at low tide once at high tide, but nothing was really happening. It was an interesting area very clean and the first time not a soul was there. It was 7 AM. The second time was about 3 PM and it was a little more crowded. The weather is kind of weird here this week so not very nice out.

By the time we got to the Devils Punch Bowl we had already see many miles of Oregon's wonderful coastline. With that said, this place is still definitely worth a stop since it's just a unique natural formation. I had really want to go down to the rock surface or to the beach area but it was raining and high tide and thought better of it. Instead we ducked into Mo's West to get out of the rain and was treated to a delicious cup of clam chowder.

Nice spot to view the Pacific, watch the surfers, and "the punchbowl". Travelers beware though, the day I visited the coast guard was there, sadly, for someone who had been under the punchbowl (or on the sand looking up through it) and was pulled out when the tide came in! Scary!

We went at high tide during the "king Tide" season...excelent!
Free parking with beach access...but a little tricky to find the trail.
Also, the hole is shaded until after about 10am but still beautiful!

Very beautiful. Loved the view. Amazing how the ocean created such a fantastic piece of natural art.

We went to the beach saw lots of surfers as we beached comb and walk the beach found drift wood and other great stuff.

We stayed in Otter Crest on one of our trips and we could walk to the punch bowl. We went to it everyday and went on the beach down from the area. It is a really cool thing to see if you're in the area.

The view is beautiful and the whale watching was great yesterday. The punch bowl formation was cool. $7 a vehicle for entry.

Quick stop, 30 min tops unless you decide to mingle in the shops. The punch bowl was cool to see. It’s a one time done deal kind of attraction though. Overall I liked the visit and would definitely recommend if you haven’t been before!

We went by at low tide and watched as the waved crashed in to the bowl. The next day, we went for a quick stop just to see it again at a different time and the bowl was full. Not much to do there, but pretty to look at.

This is an amazing geological feature that offers so many photo opportunities! We were there during low tide and was great to see all of the families down there exploring the beach. Due to physical limitations, we were unable to take the path down to the beach,

An interesting geographical feature along the coast, but not worthy of a special trip. However, at high tide and wind, it could be a thrilling experience.

This is a really nice place to pull off the road and see some beautiful cliffs. A nice place to park and an easy walk to view the surf.

The punchbowl is very atmospheric and the mood changes dependant on the weather conditions. It is located just of Highway 101. There is an adequate parking area and access is free. The views are amazing.
If you walk through the lower car park and keep going forward, after about 10 minutes you will find access to the beach. This path is not maintined and can be tricky to negotiate. The beach is lovely and, at low tide, you can get right into the rock formation. The area is very photogenic

The best effect to get a good view and picture is to be there at high tide and good waves. Best time is about 20 minutes after sunrise to get the best light and colors.

My friend and I stopped to see the Devil's Punchbowl - we watched as the tide rose and the surges in the water level became steadily more dramatic. We spent about 45 minutes standing on the rocks, mesmerized. We both highly recommend it - just check for rising tide conditions first, otherwise you may be waiting awhile. Check with the friendly local park services to get a tide schedule.

It's a nice simple little recreational area that doesn't really require a lot of walking. The views are spectacular, we were there on a nice sunny day and the waves crashing were impressive, can only imagine how incredible it would be on an a stormy day with a major tidal surge. Definitely make this stop!

At the end of Otter Crest Loop you come to a four way stop sign. This is 1st street. Turn right & the road dead ends at the punchbowl. Parking is horrible. Lots of people on a Wed morning.
The punch bowl is interesting & worth a look. The trail is paved, but pretty uneven.
No fee to get in!

Most amazing views to the rock formations especially the blow hole.
you just need to stand there and be hypnotized by the waves the amazing rocks and the surrounding mountains

It's cool to stand near the Devil's Punch bowl and watch the water rush in and out of the bow. Best time to see is at high tide

Maybe you need to see when the tide comes in. Or if there is a storm. Nice view of shoreline though.

Would be quite the sight if the ocean is really violent, but not this day. But great little picnic area and a good restaurant (Mo's) and a wine tasting room. Worth the stop

Read somewhere to go at low tide so you could get inside the punchbowl. So glad we did! We had a great time exploring. It is quite slippery walking across the rocks but wear good shoes that grip ( we saw some with flip flops and they were having a hard time) and check the rocks before stepping on them. Also, go slowly. We likewise enjoyed the beach and the small waterfall nearby. It is a very short hike to the beach. If facing the Inn across from the parking lot, access to the beach is to its right. Restrooms are available near the parking lot which is always nice to have.

Well worth the stop. Little paths of walking. Nature at it's best, simply beautiful. Parking can be a little overwhelming. Especially if the crowded looks to be uneducated in the rules of the road.

We always make a stop at Devils Punchbowl State Natural Area. This trip we made sure to be there at low tide so we could take the path down to the beach and actually go inside of the punch bowl. It was a great perspective and a nice walk down along the beach area. Then we went above and looked down at it as well. It was quite different from some of our visits when the ocean was definitely churning up the punch bowl. The Oregon coast never ceases to amaze with its natural wonders. There was ample parking for early June, it may get tight as the summer months progress.

Amazing view and fairly easy walk to location. Much more impressive to be in the bowl than to view it only. Make sure you check the tide times, so you don't get stuck in the bowl! There are a few shops nextdoor and a great place to eat. Worth the stop.

If your in the area you must take time to enjoy this Hallmark picture taking location. As a native Oregonian I stop whenever in the area to take a few more pictures.

This is an incredible experience. I went a little too late and the tide was starting to come in, but if you came right at low tide you could walk all the way in and spend a lot of time down there. It’s so beautiful. There’s also a lot of tide pools to go look in.

Great day on coastal trip with ride along the coast highway. This side trip off the main road was worth the time. Visit Mo’s and local beaches.

Great view! Saw some grey whales feeding and a couple of seals. Looked like a lot of surfers were enjoying the beach as well.

this amazing rock and roll water feature is just a quick stop along the highway, well worth the few minutes to walk down the paved path and stairs, there are other hiking trails there too.

You can walk right up to overlook the "punchbowl". It is cool to see, but requires high tide to be at it's best. There are also great oceanside views from the other trails around this area.

Visited here on 4th of July weekend. It was not very busy which was nice. Was able to get some good pictures. The views here are awesome 👌

Nature presents us with unique opportunities to see its work. Enjoy a glimpse of what nature has wrath.

Visit the Devils Puchbowl at least once a year on out annual trip to the coast. Even been in side it at low tide

One of the most scenic portions of the Oregon coast. Huge rock outcroppings which the waves slam in to and create phenomal photos. The punch bowl is an opening in a large rock which as waves come in spray high into the air . Acess to the beach is alo available.

the park is very small and the parking is enough to handle the visitors that were there when we were there. We arrived at low tide and could see people in the devils punchbowl (a big hole in a very big rock). The area is very picturesque and worth the trip if you are into landscapes and unique surroundings.

You should definitely stop and see this! If you’re just going to look over, drive all the way to the picnic tables and park. Otherwise, park near the restrooms and walk down. Beautiful beach, loved the view of the punchbowl, you can walk in it if the tide is out.

We stop of just to eat our picnic but spent hours watching the whales and seals.
Lovely picnic tables with a view of the ocean. Small beach shop. Restrooms with changing area. Access to beach and the surf.
Good spot with children and dogs.

I’ve travelled the Oregon Coast many times and somehow missed this gem!! Even though it was high tide so we weren’t able to walk inside, it didn’t matter! There’s so much more to see and do. If you park up above the views are absolutely beautiful. There is also a Mo’s Restaurant annex there if you’re visiting for lunch. You can walk down the road to the beach or drive back down to a closer parking area. We walked down and it wasn’t a bad walk at all with a sidewalk all the way down. Even as crowded as it was, there is plenty of beach to see and walk down. We walked a couple miles down the beach and there was still a ways to go! I truly enjoyed this beach and natural area and will visit again on my next trip to Newport!!

been to the punch bowl many times but somehow never visited the beautiful sand beach to the south. there is quite a bit of parking for an attraction on the oregon coast. there is also a bathroom with water and a nice staircase leading down to the beach. once down there expect a very shallow bit of beach that allows for nice waves. this place has got very popular with beginner surfers and boogieboarders. The water is pretty cold but not unbearable, most wear wetsuits.

Attractive headland with Gray Whales passing lose offshore.
Also, for birders, Harleqin Ducks roosting on the cliff base. Super views of an attractive duck.

This is a stop well worth your time. The show is at high tide so be careful to schedule your stop. The overall park is well done and easy to see.

Nice parking lot with restrooms. Short walk to the overlook with an up close view of devils punchbowl. There were whales just offshore. Seems to be a popular surf spot as well. Beach access too. Over as great stop!

The actual bowl may or may not be shooting water high into the air depending on the tides & winds. But it's so easy to get to and such a nice walk that it's worth at least 30 minutes exploring the area.

The Devils Punchbowl State Natural Area is a Fascinating example of an extremely ancient sea cave that ultimately collapsed through tidal erosion. The upper view of the Punchbowl is an amazing site, but if you walk a ways down there is beach access at low tide where you can explore more in depth (just be careful of the tides as you can get trapped if you're not careful). A unique area!

Great panoramic view of the Oregon coastline. Lots of free parking. The pictures do not do justice to what the view is like. Very unique place.

This a must do breath taking worth the the time for a trip take your time and enjoy the wonders of the ocean

Worth visiting. Short trip off the highway. Parking was a little tight but we found a spot. Panoramic view on all sides.

If you time your visit to this amazing natural sculpture you will find yourself able to go inside for a one of a kind experience. Our land is ever changing and to be able to safely walk inside of this landmark is something you won’t forget. Don’t be fooled it fills up fast as the tide comes in. Watch children closely as the waters rush in without warning. If you are willing to do a little exploration you can take some one of a kind photos both inside and near the Devils Punchbowl! We saw crabs, sea stars, sea anemones some of which washed in by the waves as the tide came back in. Over all we will be returning next visit!!!

The Devils Punchbowl is absolutely a beautiful sight. We visited during the off season when it was still a bit chilly ( end of May), but the beach town it's in is definitely a trip in itself! Just down the road from Devils Punchbowl, we found beach access where we saw countless harbour seals! The beach has plenty of firewood if you're like me & having a fire on the beach is something you've always dreamed of. This trip definitely made me fall in love with the Oregon Coast!

Too many people in June but aside from that lovely scenery. Even in June though it was interesting how windy it was in this area as compared to Depoe Bay, and other places along the coast.

At high tide you can see the giant spout and at low tide actually walk into the bowl. Next trip we hope to get to walk to the bowl.

We were unfortunately there when it wasn't high tide, so it was less than exciting. I could see how it could be pretty cool at high tide though.

Great locater signs, free parking and a short walk to Devils Punchbowl. It is beautiful and worth the side trek.

Just before Newport this whole area is a nice place to stop and take in the local area. Great views, no money spent and just a nice place to take a walk, look at the view and take it in. Reccomend if in the area.

Beautiful quiet quaint semi hidden gem on the Oregon coast. Beach access is a little rough but accessible. The original Moe's Chowder House is located in otter Rock. The food is really good. It's not very big so can be a little crowded. There's some cute little shops one being a winery that's located there called the flying Dutchman. They give samples and I would say it's worth checking out. The devil's Punchbowl is pretty cool you can go down into it at low tide which is really cool. You get a real up close look at all tide pools and the inside look at punch bowl when the tides out.

This is a cool area. Not only is the Punch bowl unique, but watching whales frolicking in the water around it, made for a beautiful visit.

Awesome waves roll in at high tide, but even low tide is great for pics. Stop for a hot chocolate or snack. They have clean bathrooms and usually a ranger nearby. You can hike to the bottom or just walk to the street level overlook. Beautiful scenery, worth stopping even if just for a couple of minutes, right on hwy. 101.

Really cool spot! Basically just a huge hole in the rock where the tide blasts in and out. Very primal. Super easy to get to and well worth the time.

This place is incredible. The deafening sounds of the surf getting caught in the "bowl". The sunsets. Easy access and clean. Also free. This is a must-see natural wonder.

Definitely worth the stop! We were there at low tide, but I have seen it at high tide in the past and it's even more impressive then.

Experience a fabulous Oregon coast phenomena at this small free state park on Otter Crest Loop. The tide was in, but the best time would be during winter storms and King tides, of course. We didn't know it had beach access, but as older folks with mobility issues, couldn't have done it anyway.
It's a wonderful scenic stop.

The overall cool factor of the place is neat and how it was created. We were there this morning at low tide and the ‘bowl’ had folks exploring the floor. So no great photo opportunity then. The views are very nice all the way around and is accessible for those with limited mobility as well. Parking on the other hand is and exercise in patience as it dead ends at the end. Parking close to the sidewalk areas is limited. Went back this afternoon at high tide and it was rather underwhelming but high tide was only 6.7 feet. Some of the big spray pictures you see will be from much higher tide levels that are related to storms. Depending on what you are there to see, could be a quick trip.

Quick stop when touring around the area. Small restaurant but haven't eaten there but looks good. Ice cream shop too.Fun to watch the local surfers in the cove.

The sea was very calm on the day we visited and the tide was out, so it wasn't very impressive. Would love to see it on stormy day.

We went to the beach saw lots of surfers as we beached comb and walk the beach found drift wood and other great stuff. This beach has lot of stairs. Devil’s punch bowl was very interesting and beautiful view. We all way stop here when we visit the coast,

Stop by for the view. And pick up some lunch at Mo's!! The view is incredible. And the food is great!

We didn’t have a lot of time so we just stayed at the top level and enjoyed the awesome views and the shops on the street. Would love to come back and hike down to the beach when we have more time!

What a wonderful cove for families to enjoy the sand and surf.
It protects you from the wind and offers lots of area for picnics on the beach!!
We saw a lot of surfers too

Great viewing point for the gorgeous Oregon coast and maybe even a whale or two. Great picnic areas and well groomed viewing trails. An added bonus is Mo's restaurant is close.

To get the most out of what you want to experience make sure you go at the right tide. If you go when the tide is coming in the bowl is filled with the ocean and can be spectacular. If you go when the tide is out you can actually walk inside. It is many steps to walk down to the beach so be prepared. It has great views and parking is free. Restrooms are also provided.

This is another very atmospheric location. The view from the top is best when the sea is in and I would love to see it during a winter storm. I’ve seen videos of it and it’s spectacular. It’s possible to walk down to the beach on either side however I feel the one on the right is significantly better. There is an access path by the RV parking lot. From there you can walk right into the punchbowl at low tide. An excellent experience that has edge.

I was driving around in Oregon on US 101 stopping at the various state parks. I had been to this one many times, but usually high tide. This time the time was out! If I had planned ahead I either would have come at high tide or I would have come as the tide was going out , so that I could have hiked down to explore the cave.

We loved looking at the formation and the tide coming in. At high tide you are supposed to see the waves splashing through but its rare opportunity. We didn't get to see it. At low tide you can walk down to the water. Parking was crazy with huge crowds, parallel parking on the street. There are couple of ice cream shops around.

cool views ,saw whale in the bay, the rock formations were neat to see from the battering of the sea

This area offers great views north, west and south. Besides the punch bowl, the whales were active as the tide came in. Surfers were also enjoying the tides to the south, but they were very gentle so not a ton of activity.
If you are in and Rv or towing, please pay attention to the designated parking area-there is no turn around at the end of the road.
There’s lots of picnic areas and on leash dogs are welcome.

Ok this is cool, but doesn’t take long to see & move on. Parking lot was full, but we lucked out as a car was leaving. DO NOT DRIVE A RV up there. No way will you ever turn around. There is a picnic area if you had the desire. Worth the look, but you will be out of there in 20min.

Enjoyed the stop. It's interesting, unique, and very happy we stopped. Not the type of thing I would travel over an hour out of the way, but if I'm in the hood.... well worth it.

This is a scenic part of the Oregon Coast near Newport. We enjoyed our visit on a Sunday morning in late May. When the seas are running hard there's a great blowhole effect. You can also take a walk along the very wide beach adjacent to the punchbowl. We were pleased that no charges applied.

Love this place so much! Such an easy stop off the road. Didn’t want to leave. Great spot for sunset or picnic

Since this is located right off the main highway near Otter Rock, certainly worth stopping! For photography, better earlier in the day to light up the punchbowl rocks. If you are fortunate enough to arrive at a low tide, you may be able to walk down into the cavern, but don't linger as the ocean reclaims it at high tide!

Fantastic tide pools and incredible fun for everyone! It’s so beautiful here! Park to the far right and explore the marine gardens. We even saw seal pups when we went. A must see on the Oregon Coast!

Knowing we were visiting the area, I had looked up things to do. The recomendations for visiting the Devils Punchbowl area during low tide were right on! Cool to see from above, but even cooler to walk around inside the bowl! Definitely a must do!

We came at low tide, when a few bold wanderers were walking around on the sand inside the Punchbowl. The whole rock formation and sea view is spectacular -- plus there is ample parking back away from the natural area.

worth a look. It's right over the edge of the parking lot, easy access and is impressive. It's a big giant hole in the rock where the ocean pours in.

Devils punch bowl on the outset is a natural blowhole and it’s only during storms that you see the spectacle. It’s quite the scenic setting and worth checking out on a calm day.

I expect that the attraction is more exciting when the tide is higher than when we visited. Nothing much when we were there. We did take stroll on the path on the point, sat on a bench and enjoyed the sunset. There is a small park area. A good place to stretch the legs.

We went at a great time. Parking was available. Not a lot of people on the trail. We never get tired of the view.

We went to see beach fist, it was very beautiful.
We then went to punch bowl, it was low tide, it was an empty bowl.

We enjoyed visiting this place and look forward to coming back one day. The Devils Punchbowl is a must see at least once. Parking area is good with easy access. Scenic trails marked from easy to moderate are great and should not be missed. If you have a day to spend there definitely plan to see it on low and high tide when The Devils Punchbowl is full. Take your camera to capture the beauty. We highly recommended for those who love nature.

Slipped into Devils punchbowl as we were going by, and had a great view of it this time. Sprying up all nice and splashy, like you would expect to see

This is a great area to visit. There are some small shops and the scenery is breathtaking. The Oregon coast is beautiful and there is an abundance of beauty here. The parking area can get congested and parking can be difficult.

We visited on a beautiful sunny morning. The punch bowl is very cool. Along with the amazing views of the ocean and coast line. Worth making a visit too.

We enjoyed or visit to the Devil's Punchbowl this morning. Some people were able to walk into it from the beach. We looked into it from above from am observation area. I think it would be really dramatic to see the sea water churning around in it at high tide. I wouldn't miss it if you're in the area!

Parking is very difficult with so many visitors coming and going but eventually, something opens up. Views are great even spectacular when the tide is high and the ocean is not calm.

Short distance off Hwy. 101. Attraction has a parking lot that was close to full, but found parking with no waiting. Short walk to the attraction - large bowl carved from rocks where waves come in through two openings. A photo op. There's a seafood cafe next to the parking lunch where we had lunch. Food was very good.

Planning your trip around the low-tide is key for a full experience here, since you can not only take an easy picture from the top looking down, but a reasonably easy hike around from the beach can take you into the punchbowl itself, but only at low tide.
First, watch some videos about what the Punchbowl looks like at high tide, maybe the view from above is for you. But if you'd rather experience being IN this unique rock formation, you have to go around high-tide. Since tide markers are not always the same, it is tough to be conclusive... but if the low-tide marker is in the negative, then you may have up to 2 hours on either side of that time. But a zero or higher low-tide marker will give you less margin.
As other reviewers note, the path to get to the beach is most easily accessed from the north side by driving down C Avenue to a parking lot on the left (1 block north from 1st Street). Halfway decent restrooms are nearby. The path is another 1/2 block up C Avenue. In June 2022 when we went, the stairs at the end of the path had been washed out and not yet repaired, so its a tiny scramble down... but there will be more scrambling ahead, so if the end of the path is too daunting for you, turn around and take pictures from the top.
If you are up for a little scramble on slippery rocks, continue down the beach to the left using whatever path seems to provide the best footing and least ecological damage and you'll soon see the entrance cave to get into the bowl. Rocks along the way and inside will certainly be wet and covered in slippery substances, so go slow and with caution... find your spot, and THEN take your camera out for pictures. The rest of the beach has plenty of beauty to walk afterwards. You'll only need 20 minutes inside the bowl for safe and stunning pictures, but avoid anything outside low tide, use good footgear and use your hands for safe scrambling.

We had a great day I would recommend that you walk the paths it is time for the whales to migarat and you can see them from the devil's punch bowl

This was a cool little area where you can look down into the "punchbowl" from above. The tide was in, so it had water. I know you can go down into it during low tide. We took pictures from above and checked out the little park that offered views down the coast.
The area has a few shops and restaurants. Unfortunately, the ice cream place was closed for the evening. This is not a long stop, but worth 20 minutes to check out and get some photos if you are not trying to go down into it at low tide.

Devil Punchbowl is definitely a musty one of Oregon coast great attractions. Make sure you do the quick walk down into the Punchbowl early in the morning at low tide unbelievable experience tons of starfish and type pooling. Can't wait to go back.

The punch bowl is a quick stop to take a few photos and not much else. If the tide is out, one can walk into from from the beach. If you like walking on beaches, the one by it is very nice.

This place does not seem like an entrance to hell. You can observe in Jun migration of whales from this spot but keep binocular with you.

Went there twice on this visit, once it was raining then sunshine on the next visit. Better pictures the second time but colder than in the rain. At the end of the parking lot you can view the punch bowl, at high tide is the best.

The view of the Oregon Coast from this area is quite spectacular and is worth the visit. The area is very windy at times (it was when we were there), but that didn't take away from our enjoyment of the view. The punchbowl was not spraying water when we visited, but it was still an interesting geologic site and there's a cute winery nearby (Flying Dutchman Winery) that has an amazing view of the coast as well. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

The turnoff too get toothis place is so dangerous that you will get into a wreck. The area is beautiful and haunting.

Fabulous wonder of nature as this large rock has been eroded away to leave behind a cavern that is just captivating. Don't miss it.

This landmark is completely mesmerizing. Gorgeous views. What else Cana person who loves the ocean say accept that I could stay there all day.

Visited devils punchbowl, which is really worth seeing as in a great beauty spot. Overlooking the fantastic beach, the geology is really interesting and rare to see. Parking nearby, no charge to visit. The ocean was rough on the day we visited, which added to the beauty of the location. Would recommend. Picnic areas available too.

Easy to get to and 180 degrees of wonderful views. If you are a photographer, break out the tripod and the long lens for long shots up and down the coast. Then break out the fisheye or wide angle for a walk down to the beach to shoot the sea with logs in the foreground. Lots of steps on the stairs to get down and up.

We stayed in Salem and headed to the coast and put the Devils punch bowl in the GPS. What beautiful views along the coastline! Well worth the drive. Drive right into the area and good views of the "punch bowl". Just another great work of mother nature!!

If you can get there at high tide...GREAT!!! But even if you can't, it's beautiful to see what nature can do! And we saw WHALES! Gray whales that winter off the Oregon coast!

This is an Oregon "landmark" if you will and such a unique feature of any coastline. Shows the power of the ocean in a completely different way than anywhere else. Was surprising how loud it is and a bit frightening at first...

Very interesting geological wonder at the end of a short road through a cute little area with a winery and some restaurants/coffee houses (?) - all closed due to wildfire smoke unfortunately.
The gaping formation is thought to be a result of some sea caves collapsing. I think you used to be able to walk around in it, but it’s all fenced off from what I can see. You might be able to access it from the beach somewhere but we weren’t able to thoroughly explore due to the smoke and fog. Also could be dangerous if the tide is coming in. I think we caught it at low tide.
It’s a beautiful area, with rocks and caves and water swishing and swirling around deep in the “bowl”! It’s a quick visit but may take up more time when the little shops are open or if you can hike around the area! Definitely something to see!

We stopped here in the evening It wasn’t crowded at this time of year. The punch bowl was just starting to get filled so we could see the bottom of it. Lots of big waves crashing around it. There is a path to the beach if you want some up close beach time.

The punchbowl is worth a look, yet the beach at the bottom of the stairs is more worthy of a visit if you are into a beach. I felt uncomfortable because of the number of people there and how many were in large groups without masks, coughing and sneezing. Could not get away fast enough.

Check the tidal change before heading out. Surfers arrive before dusk to this un crowded beach. The kids enjoyed exploring

This is a fascinating place, the rock formations and features formed by wave erosion are wonderful. The view from the viewing area is a little restrictive so we walked down 'C' Avenues to a footpath down to the beach just north of the Devils Punchbowl and could then walk into the Punchbowl (it was low tide) through an archway, some of the clambering is awkward with slick seaweed, but well worth it.

Worth a stop if you are passing by. Cool place to take break and relax from driving. Take a 15 minute break here.

Many people (and many reviews here) probably just go and park, look over the top of the bowl, and call it good. From that angle this is an okay attraction, but not really that cool. If you park in one a lot about a quarter mile back down the street, you can take a very short hike down the hill to the beach that leads in to the punch bowl. If the tide is low, there are many tide pools that have marine wildlife and is a GREAT experience. You can also actually go into the punch bowl and see people staring down at you. This is the great experience of the Punch Bowl! You can then drive back a little later when the tide has come in and see the transformation. If you don't have time to do any of that extra stuff, it is cool, but not the best thing on the coast. But if you have a little extra time, it definitely becomes much more memorable!!

Near our lodging it was a great place to see nature's amazing work. Can see from different angles and a good place to see whales in migration.

One of my many stops on oregon coast drive. The formation is alot bigger than the photos displayed. Its about 40 ft across and you cannot keep looking down at the hole...mesmerizing

Definitely worth the stop, but be sure to dress warmly if visiting during the winter months as the Oregon rain combined with the wind coming off the ocean can be quite cold.

Our travels this year took us to the Devil's Punchbowl in late October. The crowds are smaller, but the fun is still there. You do need to watch for the signs along 101 so you don't miss the turn. The most important thing is to plan your trip with the tides in mind. That is pretty much true for many of the sights on the coast. You can even get a tide chart at Mo's or look them up on the internet. On this day, we arrived close to high tide. The punchbowl provides some great views, but wonder down the trail for more sights. Pounding surf will open to a beach area where on this trip we found a group of surfers enjoying the action. You can get to the beach from this area, and many venture down for a closer view of the Punchbowl area.

Unfortunately for us, the day we went was cloudy and sprinkling. The Devil's Punchbowl is easily accessible. Parking can be an issue, but there are lots a few hundred yards away.
While the coast is beautiful, a secondary attraction is the surfing. We were there on a Saturday and the surfers were out in force. The waves weren't very high so there weren't many long rides. But it was still fun to watch the surfers try.
And while you're in the area, if the day is nice, try the Loop road, too.

Heading north out of Newport watch out for the road sign for this place as you will be past it before you realise it.
Ride up and park, no charge. Best time to be there, a spring full tide....spectacular!
A wholly natural water feature.....excuse the pun.
There are nature walks locally down to the beach on both sides or investigate the wine shop at the parking area... nice selection although there does not appear to be overnight parking in the vacinity for campers or RV's.

People were lined up for blocks trying to get into this park. There was a tow-truck circling so I presume the locals are serious about their "no parking" signs. We gave up trying to find a parking spot.

Awesome display of one the world's natural creations. Took a road trip up the coast. Had great weather and stopped to take in the views.

Nature never stops to be amazing & the Punchbowl is such a place to gaze upon. Great photo op,...but don't become the story & pay attention to the High Tides & strong winds in the area.

Loved the walk along the coast. The natural beauty takes your breath away. The beaches and surfers were amazing as that water is cold. The punch bowl formation is visible from above but you can go down and walk in it. Just be aware of the power of the ocean and the tides! Worth the stop and photos!

There’s only one thing to look at….the punch bowl. It was very unique. Doesn’t take long. At least there were public restrooms there too.

Easy parking. Easy to get to view. Was a little disappointed but I think it would have been better at high tide. The punch bowl didn’t get very full.

This is one of those amazing natural formations that, I’m sure, have a perfectly reasonable geological basis for its existence. Not knowing (nor particularly caring) how this feature formed, one can nevertheless be amazed at the power of the surf and the geyser-like eruption of water through the punch bowl. The formation is actuallly visible two ways: the obvious (hike down and look at it), or the subtle (due south there is a twisting road to the top of a nearby peak that offers a commanding view of the Devil’s Punchbowl), both of which I wholly commend. We planned our arrival to coincide with high tide, so the waves crashed up into and above the rim of the bowl. It made for a great viewing experience. Parking is somewhat limited, though it was sufficient for our vehicle the day we went. You can take an easy walk (be aware: there are numerous steps, notable inclines, and, once on the beach area, the surface is uneven and craggy, so beware if you are mobility-limited or unsteady on your feet) literally up to the edge of the Devil’s Punchbowl (where you can get splashed by waves or dampened by the continual spray). There are also several other natural formations to see while you’re there. I heartily commend stopping and seeing this area.

Came looking for the famous punch, had to settle for a beer..
But there was a cool hole in the ground with rushing water!

Worth a stop if you are heading up the Oregon Coast highway. Free parking with free bathrooms. Beautiful view of the formations and the coast, there is also a staircase down to the beach. Easy to socially distance since there is lots of space. We felt very safe visiting.
Geological Rock, Scenic Route
Took some great landscape photographs here. If your driving up or down Oregon coast, it's a good, quick place for a break and stretch the legs and take a short walk on paved walkway. There's a Mo's on site where you can get a cup of clam chowder and refreshments.
