This was the first visit back as an adult and we brought our teenage son for his first visit. We were there for 3 days. By the end of the third day the cost and mediocrity had left such a bad taste in our mouths and our son was so nonplussed, we were tripping over ourselves to get out of Disney and to some extent California.

Where to start. Hotels- pay the premium for a GOOD local hotel because afternoons are best spent resting there and indeed the evenings, Why? Because the parks are exceptionally crowded and loud and a great deal of time will be spent in line for rides. Ride waits of up to two hours were not uncommon. Your patience and fatigue will be lowered and raised respectively. You will likely want to walk back to the hotel a couple of times for breaks. Wait times of two hours tell me there are too many tickets sold for too few rides,

Food… After you realise the food offerings, expectedly expensive, are not only terrible quality, but to add insult to injury are offered through venues a number of which have been farmed out to mediocre commercial brands like Dole, Dreyers and Starbucks with a Disney markup, you may not feel like indulging in them, Nothing kills the Disney holiday spirit faster than seeing naked corporate branding. Non branded food was also absolutely terrible quality.

Visitors should find some of the best food offerings in California, but where visitors to Disney want to find Willy Wonkaesque offerings, they will only find cheap rubbish reheated and repackaged. For this reason alone you may also want to leave the park for lunch outside. Alternatively, to the parks credit, you can bring your own F&B, but how many can haul this around or want to is another matter.

Thinking about the charming architecture and effort to create atmosphere in each of the sections, it’s a very special kind of incompetence that Disney management does not only miss that exceptional F&B is s draw, but frankly necessary part of the branding.

Lines and extra costs, Faced with long wait times (compounded by some rides being broken) , you will be presented with the pressure to buy express lane passes called Genie +. These are not only are an extra 35 dollars each, but are limited in use effectively to one ride per hour, that is you can only book one ride per hour. In addition to that (and what really left sick in our mouths) was handing over MORE money for a couple of “premium” rides. Yes, that’s right, your park tickets do not give you access to all the rides! Astonishing. That’ll be 26 bucks each please!

Insofar as the rides… the parks in general seem exceptionally dated and not nearly enough to impress a child of the 21st century unless they are very young, It was extraordinary. There really aren’t so many rides and what rides there are fairly unimpressive and have very short ride times compared to wait times,

Thinking about the Disney of the 70s and 80s and probably 90s, how they managed to take such a wonderful experience and completely car crash it is a very, very special kind of mediocrity. If I was a a shareholder, I would fire absolutely everyone responsible for this disaster, my advice is to go to elsewhere.

No magic!!!!

Disneyland is horrible all the way around. Ride lines are hours, they shut down and malfunction a lot, customer service stinks, food not good and overpriced. I rather do nothing for vacation then go back!

Thank You Disney

Thank you Disney for helping my boyfriend and I celebrate his graduation!! He became a Doctor and the 1st place he thought of to go was to was Disneyland 😊 we had a blast!!

THE BEST THEMEPARK

When I first came here (like 2013) I loved it 😁 it had every thing , it had a lot of rides, good hotels, and great service. I definitely recommend you to come to the happiest place on earth 😃

Disney Disappointment

By Deborah B |

As a long time Disney Fanatic, our recent trip to Disneyland was very disappointing. I'm writing this in hopes of getting the attention of the Disney People who can institute change and return this family favorite to its original glory.

Crowds are a part of the Disney experience, however, when rides and sections of the park are closed for renovation, or one park is closing early, visitors are forced into small spaces meaning there are fewer spaces for people to rest and recharge. What's worse is the difficulty with getting on a ride. With the price of tickets exceeding $114 (though advertised at $104) and pushing towards $200 during higher demand, you admission no longer guarantees anything: maybe only 1 or 2 rides (with 90+ minute wait times if they will even allow you to wait! We had repeated experiences where we were told the wait lines were closed!), no place to sit, and poor access to parades and shows. But here's the catch: you can pay an additional $30 plus dollars per person to get the opportunity to make a reservation for a ride. But even the additional purchase doesn't guarantee much of anything since you need to know how to access the ride reservations through the Disneyland App at preappointed times.

In addition, eating with my family was very difficult. Little ones do not want to sit down for a meal and fast food service was hard to find. And, to grab some quick snacks were costing us $60 to $90 for my family!

So here are the challenges: For my family of 3, the tickets and parking cost about $400. Food cost another $200. Souvenirs, well, that was another $200. This trip cost just under $1000 all in.

We could say Disney needs to charge these prices to pay their bills, however, is that really what's going on? I ask this since the concept of Dynamic Pricing seems to dominate. Dynamic Pricing determines the original cost of the tickets, somewhat dynamic pricing for the cost of the add-on privilege to make appointments for the privilege of riding as the cost of the add-on varies depending on when you buy it. Also, we found restaurants were also using dynamic pricing. It seems that Dynamic Pricing is a politically correct term for gouging.

I could keep going but working families will know what I'm talking about. Time was that anyone could go to Disneyland and enjoy the day next to families across all socio-economic classes. Things were presented equally with equal access. Now, thanks to false advertising for ticket prices, Disney has created a social class system that denies those with fewer resources less access to the fun.

Overpriced, Overcrowded, but gotta do it once

By DutchMachine |

Overpriced tickets, overcrowded parks, crazy expensive food, drink & souvenirs.

The experience obviously is cool for kids. However, when you need to reserve park dates you would think that the crowds are a bit more manageble. 2 hour wait times for certain rides is crazy. Unless off course you want to upgrade your experience for a lot of money so you can skip a line.

Disney sure knows how to take your money and how to take it fast.

Unfortunately the breakdown of rides takes away from the expected busy experience.

Gotta do it once with the kids, but not sure I would be interested in doing it again for the price they charge.

PÉSIMA EXPERIENCIA / TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE

By José Luis v |

Espantoso!

Terrible! Even if you buy the Fast Pass, you still have to wait in line like everyone else to access the attractions. Plus, it works with the Disney app, and you have to “reserve” your attractions if you want to use the Fast Pass. You also can’t reserve more than one attraction, so you’re limited to whatever is available. Want to enter the Star Wars attraction? Well, you have to pay extra because it’s not included. Want to see the Fantasmic show? You won’t see it well either because if you don’t pay for a dinner package over $100, they’ll send you to the sides where you can’t see anything! The attractions break down! They took us off the riverboat without any explanation. At Pirates of the Caribbean (even with Fast Pass), we waited about an hour because “something had happened,” and if we wanted, we could go back! TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE, you come here to get stressed at “the happiest place on Earth”—what an irony!

Greedy, no customer service: you are a credit card to them

By Michal H |

Disneyland is simply a greedy corporation who sees people as credit cards.
My son got sick the day before he was supposed to go. We don’t live in the states and have no other opportunity to take him. But of course: no refund. They take our money and won’t even give us money to spend in the park instead. Because they don’t care about people. You are just a credit card to them. I recommend smaller theme parks that have more heart. Disneyland lost theirs many decades ago. Their reputation as greedy and expensive is true.

BIG PARK FOR FUN!

By Musa Bin Osman |

Aduh, this US trip has been such a best experience for the whole family lah, especially when we visited the original Disneyland Park in California! Even though Malaysia and our neighbouring countries have many fantastic theme parks already, the feeling of walking through the gates of the first Disneyland ever is something lain macam (different) altogether. My two children, they were just terjerit-jerat (screaming) with pure joy when they saw the Sleeping Beauty Castle. Even though they are older now and have watched all the Disney movies, they still ran to hug Mickey and Minnie like they were long-lost friends. Seeing this made my heart feel very warm (ấm lòng). Honestly, Disneyland holds a certain magic that no other park can replicate—a deep sense of rasa nostalgia (nostalgia) that is hard to describe. We had to queue a bit long lah, but seeing my kids' senyum lebar (wide smiles) made it all berbaloi (worth it). This is truly a kenangan manis (sweet memory) our family will cherish forever!

Disney Expensive!

By Greg K |

I have issues. First of all Disney is horrifically over priced! 4.75 for a small bottle of water? There are very few benches to sit on. Clearly they want you to keep moving unless you sit somewhere where you have to buy food. Hardly any drinking fountains. The Genie Fast Lane is a joke. We paid $140.00 for it so we could get to the Rise of the Resistance experiment which always had an hour wait time, only to find out that you have to pay an additional 104.00 for four people just for that attraction! Then the next three attractions we went to were closed. Space mountain was closed. They seem to shut down the Matterhorn, Monorail and the Thunder Mountain close every night during the Fantasmic and Fireworks and shows. They don’t tell you this. We did get refunded though. However, I had to spend an hour to get refunded. Did I mention the prices? Mouse Ears 34.99? Also the Fast Lane is only for two attractions per day. Incredible parade, Fantasmic and Fireworks!

Horrible

By laura d |

Ok. So Disneyland couldn't control the rain. But many rides had issues and we couldn't go on those rides. Too many money grabbing businesses in between the rides.
Prices are absolutely crazy. Don't go unless you have 5 k to drop !

By Sheekar |

The "happiest place on earth" just became the crappiest place on earth. They really do nickel and dime you to death for the tickets, hopper, and genie plus not to mention the ridiculous prices for mediocre food. So you pay at least $150 per person if not more for a one day park hopper ticket then they want to gouge you for another $35 per person fast pass which they call Genie plus only to have to deal with crabby overworked employees who clearly hate their jobs because of how rude they are towards the guests. Oh and they just announced they’re increasing their prices. Then they have audacity to make you reserve the days you want to go as if they’re making an attempt for crowd control, which we all know is a farse and mostly done for appearance sake. And don’t get me started on the food and drinks!! Their security check is pointless since people are bringing in their own alcohol and vapes, vaping while in line without consequence. I’m sure Walt Disney would be rolling in his grave if he could witness how greedy and very woke this company has become. How can an average family even afford this place? Very, very, very, dissatisfied and honestly disgusted.

I loved Disneyland in California. I simply fell in love with the car region. Attraction of high-speed cars. Wonderful. I loved it, I loved it…. I would definitely go back to Disneyland without thinking twice. I am grateful for the assistance I received for my son with ADHD, it helped me a lot, this Disney service is magical and fantastic. Hug

OK But a couple of drawbacks.

By DMC1958 |

The first and oldest Disney park. What we were not aware of is that at this time of year there is no parade or fireworks, just a light show. Obviously, we should have checked on that, so our fault. My family and I have always enjoyed the Disney Parks and this was our fifth Disney park. We had hired a car in San Francisco and driven to Los Angeles and based ourselves in a hotel about four miles away. Due to problems with taxis we decided to drive to the park. The traffic was very heavy at the entrance to the car park off the West Ball Road and it took about 20 minutes to get parked.

Once inside the park we had a great time although 100 minutes queues did put us off a few things, As it was supposed to be a quiet time of year we did not purchase fast track passes. Overall we did enjoy ourselves, but the projections onto the buildings on Main Street at night were obscured in places by the trees.

If you are a Disney fan it is still worth a visit, but do your homework better than I did.

Disneyland

By HappyJana |

The best way to make memories for my son's 13th birthday. I surprised him with the droid building experience in Star Wars land. Very cool. We had the lightning lane passes. Our day went smoothly, we got to see all the Halloween decor. We rode everything on our list!

Amazing !

A park to visit for all Disney fans wanting to follow in the footsteps of Walt Disney. Ironic attractions, encounters and magnificent parades await you!

Definitely different post-Covid, but still the happiest place on Earth

By PH2003 |

Before this year I hadn't been to a Disney park in about 9 years, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Booking the trip in the post-Covid era with park reservations is a bit confusing but as long as you make sure you get the reservation you're fine. It's also a bit strange having to use the Disneyland app for basically everything, but I did enjoy using it for wait times.

One thing I will complain about because imo it doesn't seem convenient at all is the mobile ordering for food. It can be confusing on which line to enter for either standby or mobile food and each time I looked at mobile ordering in the app, the pickup wait times were anywhere from 35-45min. If you want to get in line for a ride or move onto a different land, it's not really worth it to mobile order. It's still faster to just get in line and get food.
We also didn't use the Lightning Lane passes as, again, it seems just as easy and more convenient to not have to worry about standing around in a land or in a store waiting for a return time. I get that it's similar to the old FastPass system, but I thought even FastPass was easier than Lightning Lane. FastPass was free, too.

Overall, Disneyland is still the happiest place on Earth. The rides are great, the employees are great, the food is good, and the environment is still something that you don't find anywhere else. Everywhere we went was clean and we didn't experience any issues with other guests. For a weekday in April, it also wasn't too crowded. The longest wait time we had was about 45min for Rise of the Resistance.

By Theresa M |

We had a great time. It is what you make of it.

The sole reason for my 3 stars and review are for the ride and parade crowd personnel. It used to be they were friendly and engaging, but now I feel like I’m greeted by the TSA at the airport at every ride. They all yelled at everyone to fill in all the gaps so we were jam packed in lines inches apart. Not sure the need for this as I think being 1-2 feet away from the next guest party is appropriate. The parade crowd employees were worse than an officer directing traffic. I witnessed several yelling at guests as if they knew where to go. Terrible look for first time visitors especially if they aren’t local. Not sure what happened to create this decline. Maybe poor management for this department…The employees managing trash and the bathrooms were all happy and cheery so clearly that’s the job to have.

Very stimulating! A bucket list item to tick off.

By Sarah S |

I went solo and loved the single lines. Walked straight on the rides.
This park is packed! It is a lot of walking- I covered nearly 20km in the day and still didn’t see everything! It is very stimulating- I wore earplugs (I really did!) for walking around- I found the sound of screams, crying children, the rides, the announcements, the music was a lot for me as an introvert!

It’s a fun place to visit. I am not sure I would go back!

There are a lot of shops and food places- definitely big on consumerism which I guess should be expected at Disney- but was probably more than I was expecting. There is food and sugar and stuff to buy at every turn. I do wonder if anyone visits here and manages not to buy a single thing.

Still is the Happiest Place on Earth

By Chuck |

I just love returning to Disneyland every time I'm fortunate enough to be in California.

Appreciate the ease of entry into the park, and was compelled to write a review as I just finished another review on a theme park here in Australia - massive difference in the operations between theme parks - no comparison, Disneyland Anaheim is still the best for me. It took only 10 mins to enter park entry gates via scanning our ticket. Wait queues for rides were long, in hindsight we should have paid extra for FastPass...

Though some rides were closed when we arrived, eating the churros and going on It's a small world ride just brings back the kid in my 40 year old self.
Love ❤️ the place, even though buying Mickey
Ears in the park cost an arm and a leg!

Not ideal to visit June/July peak — realised that’s US holiday period - larger crowds.

Evil

By Gerry H |

While some employees were still nice, most went out of there way to make life hard. the Indiana Jones ride broke down and they left people locked in cars for over 45 minutes with a very tight belt. The people working town hall should be there to help but are the most evil of all. four rides were down for permanent remodels and four others broke down for hours. There were very long lines on the rides.

By Tranken |

Monday school day in Sept is still packed. All lines were 50-65 minutes wait. Big attraction rides were closed for repair. Food is horrible and overpriced. Everybody is grumpy. It’s NOT the happiest place on earth.

By athina b |

Nice to go once. Some nice rides but nothing special. A few rides shut with no explanation given. The pirates ride is a must.

Magic place

By Alejandra |

Beautiful place, it will never cease to surprise me, everything is magic, the bad, the costs, everything is very expensive, a lot of people, long lines, you have to be prepared for this because otherwise you will have a bad experience. We used the Genie+ passes which saved us time in lines and got on many more attractions than on other occasions, since it was a low season day, the parade was very short. The attention of the members of the cast has changed over the years, now you see bad faces and not the same happiness as before, we were faced with three people with a somewhat arrogant attitude, especially with an older person who we asked about an attraction and he did not He liked our "English pronunciation" and made us look bad, which seems really bad to me, the costs are super high, customer service should be excellent.

Wow wow wow loved the park and the experience. Gives you a sense of nostalgia seeing the characters. We did the bibbiddi bobbodi boutique makeover for.my daughter awesome awesome experience.

Broken rides. Long long lines

By laurajhl |

Major Rides that were closed when we tried to ride - Haunted Mansion, Indiana Jones, cartoon spin, Titania Bayou Adventure and more. Getting to each ride takes 10 minutes. The lines from the remaining rides were closed. The wait times made bad experience

AMAZING

By Connor P |

Stunning, magical, truly a happy place. best theme park in california, if not usa, and i have been to many. Everthing was awesome, from the rides, characters, staff, and lands. 11/10. If you go to a theme park in 2024, it has to be disneyland🎇🎆🏰!:)

Magnificent Day

By AlphaDelta2912 |

Th original Disneyland and a nostalgic return to a long standing park. We only had a day to visit both parks and bought a two park hopper with Genie+ (eye waveringly expensive) and we also paid for Individual Lightening Lane passes for Rise of the Resistance and M&M Runaway Railway. Despite the expensive day we loved the nostalgia, the new rides and the overall experience you always get at a Disney Park.

Disney authenticity

By Lou |

Disneyland Resort, lucky enough to have two complete parks that are constantly innovating!
- The first park which is the very first to keep its authentic side while managing to evolve, I am thinking in particular of GALAXY’S EDGE which for us as a fan was clearly a slap in the face throughout our visit!
- The second park brings a lot of energy and grandeur to a lot of PIXAR license. There is still a different magic in this park, I am thinking of land CARS which was also a slap in the face for us.

I can only recommend this resort whether with friends, as a couple or with family, there is something for everyone!
(Many different attractions in France)

It’s Disney like we have control

By simpleohio |

It’s unlikely that anyone from the organization will read this, but here are a few real points to consider.

Allow extra time for bag screening. There seems to be an issue with their system, as the process runs smoothly in the morning but can take up to 30 minutes after 4 PM. Despite fewer people in line, security seems to be slower, possibly due to newer staff or overzealous screening. Rude staff

The Disney app’s character listings are often outdated. It’s frustrating to see characters listed on the app, only to find out they’re not available that day. Cast members are then instructed to make up corny excuses to maintain the illusion, which feels deceptive.

Expect long lines at food and restaurants, and be prepared for high prices. As with most theme parks, the food is overpriced, and unfortunately, the quality has noticeably declined.

Cast member interactions have changed. I’m not sure if it’s due to the current climate or a sense of entitlement, but many cast members no longer seem as charming as they once were. They can come off as more demanding and pushy compared to previous visits.

Third time...the experience has lost its charm.

Canadian Spring Break trip, to surprise our eleven year old daughter. Our first two trips here were over a decade ago with our sons, who for this trip had aged out into wanting to return to Anaheim.

We bought a three day holiday package with Westjet Vacations to keep things simple, and purchased Disney Genie Plus as part of the package. Although expensive, this was a life-saver for the experience. Our previous trips to Disneyland included stays at the Grand Californian, but we decided against a stay here this trip due to the absurd prices.

Having to reserve a spot in each park online on the Disneyland website was a new step in The Process. The Disneyland iOS app was thankfully quite useful, particularly with keeping track of when we could use the Genie to reserve our next experience. Over our three days, we hit pretty much every ride we wanted to. Our first day timed in an excellent way, and we hit 6-7 rides. Our timing the 2nd and 3rd days was not as good - by the middle of the afternoon, the most popular rides' Lightning Lane availability through the app was gone.

The crowds were something else, particularly on our second day. There was rain from 7-9AM our third day, which kept the crowds down. The number of strollers parked around the Park was impressive, as was the number of overweight adults in motorized scooters.

The food experiences were overall reasonable for high volume produced food, but so much more expensive now - $5.50 for a churro or a box of popcorn. $12-18 for an entree such as a Ronto Wrap up in Galaxy's Edge or for a burrito in Frontierland.

There is still magic present for the kids, our eleven year old had an absolute blast, but the gross corporatization of so many intellectual properties into the Disney umbrella has worn on me. Star Wars episodes 4,5 & 6 were released when I was in early grade school, and I spent my high school years in the late 80s and early 90s collecting Marvel comics. I suspect that this will be my last visit to Disneyland until I have grandchildren, and I'm not terribly upset by that.

Sensational

By Shinester888 |

We brought the kids and grandkids over for a family event, this place caters for all ages! The older ones like the larger rides with thrills, noise and drops, the youngest ones liked the more humble ones; me, I liked the lot! My stand out was the Star Wars recreation and having an audience with the Sith Lord, Darth Vader! The staff are all super helpful and the whole site is amazing! We had the 4 day hopper pass and enjoyed rolling between respective parks.

By Paul C |

Myself and my son on vacation from Australia had some amazing experiences at Disneyland! We loved Galaxy’s Edge and all of its rides, we made Light-sabres, flew in the falcon and helped the resistance. We enjoyed everything Disneyland had to offer.
I got sick on our 3rd ticket day, seeing our passes were good for the duration of our stay, I tried to modify our tickets,to no avail I ended up speaking with Sonia in customer care, talk about unhelpful!!! She sounded like a robot reading from a script!!
Apparently there was no chance at ‘overriding’ the system so we have lost a day, 1/3 of our Disney visit.
The charge for two adult passes is extortionate and the lightening passes are a waste of time as the ‘premium’ rides aren’t covered and you have to pay for single ticket lightening passes. Just another way Disney screw you for $$$$.
Oh and Disney how about doing something with the ridiculously long cues and strategically placing staff to stop the cue jumpers.
This was not my first trip, I was there 5 years ago, it’s just gone down hill in that time. This was 2nd and last visit.
Such a shame that it ended with a crappy phone call to customer service. They couldn’t spell empathy let alone understand its meaning.
If you want to spend $$$$$ have rides not working, miss out on days and feel ripped off. Disneyland is the place to be👍🏻

Over capacity / No room to breath

By Callie D |

We will not be coming back unless they put a capacity limit on the park. There were so many people shoulder-to-shoulder, it was difficult getting around the park and seeing what was around. We weren't able to find "real" food until it got dark. There was no magic and we were very disappointed with this being our first time visiting. We had gone to Disney World back in 2021 during COVID and were shocked how packed they are allowing the parks to be now

High Expectations! Disappointing Outcome!

By Shaundra Wright |

Rude ride attendants who were young kids with bad attitudes! Maybe overworked and overwhelmed but they ruined our ride experience!
Not one Disney Character siting on the grounds which also killed the magic! Mickey, Minnie, Donald…none of them!
The Star Wars ride had a broken sound system so the animation worked but we had no idea what was happening!! It was frustrating!! This happened after a 45 minute delay in line due to technical difficulties!!!
After spending thousands of dollars on travel and admission… my family and I feel like Disney has gone commercial and lost its magic! We won’t be back and I’m sure Walt (may he rest in peace) would be turning in his grave if he knew that every guest did not have a happy experience! We had a lot to celebrate and wanted to create a lasting memory with Disney but that wasn’t the case! We should have went to Fiji instead! 🙄

By Linenminnesota |

Fabulous vacation at Disneyland and California Adventure! We had three day ticket park hoppers, lightning lane tickets and did rope drop at the opposite park that had early entry for Disney hotel guests. Perfect! Security was quick, no more than 4-5 people ahead of us and no wait to get into the park. Lightning lane booking isn't as complicated as it sounds. (Plenty of great advice on YouTube that saved us from figuring it out in the park. We rode every ride we wanted, sometimes 2 or 3 times. Reserved the Fantasmic package and had a very good meal at Cafe Orleans. Saw World of Color, all the parades and managed the 80+ degree weather by wearing hats, drinking plenty of water and getting on dark rides for cooling down. We easily ordered meals by walking up. Had snacks along the way and always got ice water at walk-up restaurants. (Don't pay for water bottles. Bring your own empty screw cap bottle and fill it up along the way. We brought powder hydration packets to add to our water.)

Family Vacation 24

By John C |

Disneyland never seems to disappoint we took our grandkids and her 3 older children down there to visit in July. We knew it was going to be a little on the crowded side, but it was well worth getting the family together and going for a visit. We were able to visit both parks for 2 days and just about complete everything that we wanted to complete what we were there. Disney makes things very enjoyable even though it still very expensive to go. So, save your pennies, nickels, and dimes. Having a gap in using the app to get around makes things a lot easier we did have some very good meals while we were down there. Golden horseshoe review, lamplight lounge, Carnation Café, Café Orland diner, and snacks throughout the park. If you plan out your trip you can really get a lot done again using the app on your phone helped us, make any reservations for the rides that we wanted to go on. Highly recommend visiting this place I'd been several times and still enjoy it today. Looking forward to some of the new attractions that they plan on bringing.

By linyep |

Still had fun but areas of the park need massive updating.

Just left two days ago after three days park hopper here. Had a nice time but many areas are just daggy now - Tomorrowland esp. One morning 8 rides were down at California Adventure and it wasn’t raining that morning… no fireworks and there wasn’t any wind on Friday night.. they had advertised fireworks. Fantasmic was amazing. No shows either.. Go to Orlando or Japan..even HK had Lion King and they made their castle better which Disneyland could do as HK castle used to be replica of Annaheim. Walt would have made it bigger if he survived longer - he had already bought land in Orlando and planned a bigger castle ! The Sleeping Beauty story inside the walk through had missing scenes and it smelled in there. Like it hadn’t been cleaned since original opening. Alice was never going and they seriously need to get rid of Toads… terrifying for little kids. Staff were mixed some nice some outright barking orders at guests. I did have fun but I’d never go to Anaheim again. Go to Disneyworld or Japan. They need to see Beauty and Peter Pan in Japan and start to do serious updates. Instead of Runaway Railway imagine if they had done Beauty backing onto Fantasy land even if it was a smaller version where the park land is. Or actually ditch the storybook boats and do a Beauty ride there..

Pretty Awesome.

First time visitor with 10 and 13yo boys.

No surprises, it was hot, crowded and unbelievably expensive but we still had a blast.

We had a day in each park starting with DLR then DCA. With lighting passes we comfortably managed to do all the main attractions and plenty more even with a break at the hotel both days.

Overall the theming and attention to detail is just amazing.

There were so many highlights, we loved all the big attractions but Rise of the Resistance, Gaurdians Breakout, Radiator Springs and Incredicoaster were absolute standouts.

The parks were very clean including toilets. DLR definitely has more shade, DCA was very exposed in the heat.

There’s a lot of talk about the food but we found most things we had to be mediocre, we didn’t eat at a full service restaurant.

Lighting pass was essential as were the additional one off fast passes, worth every penny. The system does have its flaws though, by early afternoon at DCA available bookings were hours away, then by late afternoon absolutely none available at all. With the coaster also shut all day we had barely utilised the fast pass. Fortunately the coaster opened late in the day and we secured a spot, and it really was incredible.

The parks are also completely different in the evening (DCA is really cool) and we had the opportunity to re ride some of our favourites with very short queues.

A gamble whether you’ll get on the rides or not…

By 2015Lil |

We were very lucky to get on the bigger rides despite having a lightning pass. Unfortunately even with the pass, you often can’t book a ride for a number of hours and you can only book one at a time so in effect can’t use the pass for much of the day! So very sneaky really…
The rides also do break down quite a lot and they seem to allow people to put their headgear back on once space mountain starts moving. This is dangerous for other riders and obscures photos.
Lunch was ok and not ridiculously expensive however the server was very odd. Wouldn’t acknowledge anyone or smile (even at children who spoke to him) and despite clearly male and about 6 and a half foot tall and no obvious attempt to change external physical appearance, had a dress on and a female name badge!
That all said, obviously the rides are enjoyable and the new Star Wars one is excellent (if you’re lucky enough to get on it!)
As a tip, if a ride breaks down monitor for when it starts again and join the queue then when it’s shorter. That’s the only way we got on what we wanted!

So horrific. Pay $280 per ticket for Park Hopper and Genie pass for family of 5, almost $1,500, many key rides closed like Star Wars, Haunted Mansion, etc. Genie pass virtually worthless as can only use it one at a time, typically hours in advance, so you can’t use it for other rides in the interim. Just waited 80 minutes….EIGHTY…for Indiana Jones. Consumers should really backlash against Disney. This is such an abuse of consumers. Amazing they get away with it.

We are a Disney Adult family. This is our second time to go to the original Disneyland vs WDW in Florida. Like the smaller size of the park and the different ride options. But when I was there before, I qualified for DAS pass because I am a cancer patient on chemotherapy and immunocompromised. I cannot stand in long, tight lines of people. With the new DAS changes, I was denied this, citing I could purchase Genie Plus or Lightening Lane which we did but still had to wait in lines for some rides. We got home and 2 days later my daughter was ill and tested COVID positive. I am negative so far, but still quarantined and testing daily. Of all the times I have visited WDW and DL in the last 3 years with using DAS option, this has never happened. We mask in airport, plane. Wash hands frequently, try to maintain some social distance, The new DAS guidelines are not helping those who need them. Disney needs to re-evaluate!

The queuing is horrific. 50mins was the advertised time. 50mins of queuing and an attendant tells us there is 45mins to go. That’s not what was said at the start if the queue.

To our left was a rapidly ever growing Lightning queue. It was huge. The park policy seems to be to allow all the Lightning queue customers to access the ride first, rather than managing it by filtering them in quicker than the standard queue.

But this is America, where money talks.

Having already queued for over 50mins, leaving the queue for another ride was not a pleasant option.

Poor management and customer service from Disney.

As there was at the restaurant. Having been told to “wait close” as my food was ready very soon. I was then sharply spoken to a minute later by the same member of staff and told to clear the area and move way out to the side.

Poor that. Having only been doing what she initially told me.

And getting in was a faff. The attendant held our queue up for an age because of an issue with someone’s ticket. Surely it is possible to process other customers entry whilst solving the issue for the customer with a problem?

Poor service all round. Not what I paid $375 for.

ADA Complaint about Disneyland cast member

By Explorer31462981168 |

I was at Disneyland January 23/24 with my husband and my 3 kids (13,11,9).

When switching parks (leaving Disneyland Park) on the 24th at 8:30pm, we had a horrific experience. I have ALS and cannot speak or use my legs/arms.I have to use a power chair to get around, attached to a speech machine I use with my eyes. If you know someone with a disability, you know nothing is ever easy. You are constantly figuring out how to adjust given the current circumstances in front of you. The handicap exit was blocked off for no apparent reason with a worker standing in front of it. My best guess is that she wanted everyone to go through the gate to count, so the staff member told me to go through the regular exit. I did, and the 2 automatic doors closed in on my legs as I was just trying to go through, digging in to them-I have pictures and videos-leaving a gauge and lots of bruising. My kids jumped towards me and started trying to pull the doors off me. The staff member saw this and started yelling at my kids to stop because they would break the gate. They kept trying because they saw the fear on my face and knew I couldn't do or say anything about it. My husband then said, “do you want a broken gate or broken leg.”

This was all horrible, but the shocking part of it all was the staff. The lady continued to fuss at all of us and just very rudely said I should've gone slower and that was the problem, as I tried again it still didn’t work! My husband had to physically drive me through-his theory was that the sensor wasn’t catching either my height or the doors only allotted enough time for a typical person, not a handicapped slow moving person like me. Then she just turned her back and ignored my husband and caregiver as they tried to talk to her. She knew we were upset and didn't want to deal with us so she called someone else over. Jian came over and basically said he heard what happened and didn't know what we wanted him to do about it. “Do you need medical attention for your injuries “ he kept repeating. My caregiver told him that acknowledging how poorly it was handled and how rudely we were treated along with an apology would be nice. Stone cold he said, "OK, I''m sorry. And I will speak on her (the other staff member) behalf and say sorry for her. It was pathetic. I just turned around and drove off in amazement. I didn’t feel like Jian really ‘got it’ either, unfortunately and I didn’t have my speech machine to communicate.

There were two problems in my opinion. The first one being a power wheelchair or any wheelchair should never have to be required to go through the automatic doors, this is exactly why the handicap opening RIGHT NEXT TO IT is there for. Secondly, the situation could have gone entirely differently had she just responded differently upon seeing my kids holding the doors from crushing my leg. A simple “oh my gosh how did that happen, I am so sorry that happened! Here let me show you so that never happens again “ would have diffused the tension.

I've always been a huge Disney fan and have LOVED Disneyworld trips in the past. In fact, this trip was gifted to my family by Team Gleason Adventures, an ALS organization that aids families in making dream trips/memories a possibility. Of all the places, I chose Disney for my trip. To say I was disappointed in Disneyland's staff is an understatement. In fact, there were many occasions on this trip that the Disneyland staff was cold and not helpful at all. The exact opposite of what one would expect from a company like Disney whom prides itself on customer service.

I'm trying to get this word out to as many people as I can. I'm hoping that there would be some accountability for the Disneyland staff regarding the way they treat people with mobility disabilities because I have heard this from multiple people regarding their Disneyland vs their Disney world experiences since this trip. I am not recommending this trip to others in my situation. I typed this whole email with my eyes and has taken me several hours, but I really feel like it is worth my time so that hopefully no one else has to experience what I did and also hopefully the staff will be better equipped on handling special circumstances.

Excellent time with kids

This is our first visit in 11 years. Went as a family of 4. There are two parks here, DisneyLand and California Adventure. We prefer Disney as it has the Star Wars area and so many great rides. The food options are decent. Things are pricey but overall its a very well run park.

I love Disneyland!

By boymomdfw |

It was cheaper to buy the 3 day park hopper (than a 2 day) with the special deal they are having. Be sure to look at all the options! We had a great time at the parks! I love Disneyland!

Disney has lost its magic and care

By Tour12493206062 |

Honestly, I am extremely disappointed with Disney. We pay a lot of Money to be there and the cancelled the show for fireworks without there being a legitimate reason. The employers were pretty rude. They lost my reservation that I made at the blue Bayou 3 months in advance. The rides were breaking down all the time. They also had a ridiculous question you had to join to do the haunted mansion and when we asked the employer when it would be open for standby they said 11PM so we waited all day and went back at 11PM sharp and they were telling us its not open and "we don't know when it will be open" and "to check in every 30 min". Absolutely ridiculous for the price we payed to be there. The Magic is just not there anymore. Step up and do better Disney.

Disneyland

By Norah K |

We went there at 5am so we could avoid traffic and it kind of worked, most of the rides are more baby friendly in the park rather than the adventure. I would recommend getting lighting pass and if your going with kids that like more exciting rides i would recommend the adventure park.

The crowds are out of control

By Kelly M |

we are a family who is always loved Disneyland. We’ve gone every other year for a long time sometimes two years in a row. We just went and although we had a good time, it cost a ton….because we had to buy lighting passes an individual passes to get on the rides. not really sure why Disneyland takes reservations as it was incredibly crowded the whole time we were there. This is also considered a low crowd time, but there was in fact so many people.
Listening to some of the people in lines I know that so many of the people were locals which I understand them reaching out to local people, but for the people like us who come from far away to go there and paid thousands of dollars to go there, it’s really sad that we are caught in such incredible crowds and unable to really enjoy our experience. It’s too bad that Disney no longer wants people to have a quality experience they seem to be focused on the quantity of people so they can make money

By MrBraeden |

The rides and the immersion in this park is just top notch in my opinion. We rode a lot of rides here, but our favorites were Rise of the Resistance, Finding Nemo Submarine Tour, Star Tours, and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Everything else here was decent and great. We ❤️ Disneyland

Not so-magical day

By Jocelyn G |

We have gone to Disneyland every year for the past 13 years. I never thought I would get sick of Disneyland or the Disneyland theme parks. This year lost its magic. The lightning lane pass is very expensive and for the value it is not worth it. Instead of a nice day with the family with memorable experiences, the new lightning lane pass is all about rushing to the next attraction. It does not cover all the most popular rides. My complaint is it gives you a reservation time, which could be hours out and you can only hold one lightning lane pass at a time, so by the time you’re done with a ride, the next ride that you could reserve is hours out. You used to be able to sign up for the next lightning lane pass after you completed the previous one but now it changes where you can’t do that. Additionally, our daughter who has a rare bone disease and has metal plates in her legs from surgeries, was in tears at the end of the day because of rushing to each ride and we ended up leaving early. a ticket is almost $200 a person plus paying for the lightening lane passes on top of that. There is a lady there that was visiting. This is her first time in the park and she was willing to pay $126 for additional lightning lane passes for the additional rides , the most popular. I don’t mind pain and extra pass to help avoid the lines. In the past they had Max pass, which was $10 and have all the rides and you can use them more than ones. I would even be willing to pay $20 slight in the pass if it had all the rides and the reservations were different than what this one was. This was ridiculous. The pass should be included for all the rides, and you should be able to return once you use the previous pass. Bring back the benefits of pass. Bring back the happy day at the park. Bring back the shows. Bring back characters freely walking in the park. We used to come every year but now next year we’re gonna end up going to SeaWorld or other locations. We might come back in a couple years, but this was a very disappointing visit.

First visit

By Edwelsh |

We have been to Disney World many times but this was our first visit to Disneyland. Loved the ease of walking from Disney resorts, two parks and Downtown Disney, we enjoyed all four. The cast members were very friendly and helpful, I soon quit using the map and just asked the nearest cast member. They were so nice to my wife, as it was her birthday. The compact size was nice because everything was within easy walking distance, but that means there are a lot of people in some very tight walkways. Loved Mickey’s Toontown and riding the monorail right into Tomorrowland, which are quite different than Florida. We visited a ton of attractions, ate at a few food spots in the day and a half we were there and really enjoyed everything.

Lots of rides down throughout the day.

By Rachel S |

Over 12 rides were closed at some point during the day. We waited in line for an hour and Star Wars that shut down (not covered in multi pass). Later we came back with the express ticket and the ride shut down again after wasting another 40 minutes getting back to the area and waiting in the line again. At this point everything was pretty booked up. Wasted the entire morning. Bookings kept disappearing from the app when rides went down. We wasted thirty more minutes at customer service getting the issues resolved on the app.

Most Magical Place On Earth & A Bucket List Must.

By A T |

Most magical and wonderful place ever. A must for your bucket list. Excellent customer service throughout both parks .

Not worth another visit

By Martin N |

Well, where to start.
First of all, Disney's ticketing and reservation system is so overcomplicated. Our experience: bought tickets online, in advance, for a specific day with valid park reservation. Came to the gate and voilà: access denied. Incompetent staff at the gate, barely speaking English, talked and gestured 'more money' and refused to let us in. Headed to ticketing office and had to pay an upgrade to higher tier. Unbelievable, considering fact that I had valid park reservation.
Next one is Lightning Lane. An absolute piece of crap. First of all, it rarely provides sooner access than actual stand-by wait time. Then, it blocks you from making multiple chained reservations. And least but not last, it is so confusing in the terms of which rides allow multiple Lighning Lane reservations and which don't. Not speaking about fact that some rides cost extra money.
Summary: Disney is overpriced, confusing, badly managed and implemented in the terms of online ticketing and reservations.
Parks itself are nice, especially if you catch one of the less crowded days.
A huge disappointment is fact that some rides have the queues so terribly managed by a staff, that parties going for single riders (yes, it happens now and then) get on ride twice as fast than standard stand-by parties, even within the same ride despite being single riders.
Oh, and I have to mention our experience with Oga's Cantina. Staff placed us at the very end of the bar, to a spot where our party could not fit at all, rudely ignoring our complaints. When we tried to arrange in the space, the staff was also rudely complaining that we're blocking the path. Unbelievable and unacceptable.

Disneyland Management Heartless

By Rosalind B |

Disneyland ticketing management team really disappointed me. My son purchased 2 passes, but the other pass was for his brother and unfortunately jis brother never got the chance to use it since he purchased it 7 months ago. He wanted me (mom) to utilize the pass so that the $700 is not wasted. Disneyland told him that there is nothing they can do. He can't even get refund or at least let someone use the pass, since the pass has never been utilized. He work hard for his money and to throw it out the window is very hurting.

Best time ever - it really is a happy place.

By Lyn E |

Had a 5 day ticket and really enjoyed the experience. Staff were amazing. It was busy due to Spring Break and Easter but the staff coped very well. The character meet and greets were awesome and often they would just appear and walk around the parks. Had the best time ever.

By KsB1986 |

We are Disney world fans. I must say Disneyland is very enjoyable. Different and much closer together but while there are many things the same but enough different to make everything amazing. While I would not make a special trip to California for Disneyland , I would definitely go there if I was in California for some reason.

Policy Over People at Disney Guest Relations

By David Q |

We had an incredibly disappointing experience with Disney Guest Relations after what should have been a magical visit.

I accidentally purchased a two-day park ticket but only used one day. The second day of admission was never redeemed. As soon as I realized the mistake, I contacted Disney to cancel and asked for a refund or credit for the unused day. Despite multiple conversations and escalation to a supervisor, Disney refused any adjustment, citing policy.

On top of that, we also purchased Lightning Lane passes for two people that we were unable to use due to limited availability and return times. That meant paying a premium for a service that provided no value.

What troubled me most was being told that if I tried to dispute the charges with my credit card company or left a negative review, it could negatively impact future purchases with Disney. That felt inappropriate and discouraging, especially when I was simply trying to resolve an issue over unused services.

I understand policies exist, but this situation involved unused admission and unusable add-ons. For a company that prides itself on guest experience, the rigid response—and the warning about potential consequences—felt unfair and left us feeling taken advantage of rather than cared for.

We weren’t asking for anything extra—just recognition of unused value and a reasonable courtesy adjustment. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen.

Future guests should be extremely careful with purchases, as there appears to be little flexibility even when services go unused.

By Maja2608 |

This is the purest rip-off and super disappointing, We paid 4 (2 adults + 2 teenagers) 530€ plus parking fee of 35 USD for a day and a park without Fast Lane ... there alone is the madness. We have read the many bad reviews here in advance, but did not really believe these. We can only advise against spending this money: you wait forever (usually 1.5 - 2 hours for a ride), many exciting attractions were closed due to maintenance .. in the end we spent a day there and made 4 mediocre rides ... that's a cheek! We'll never get to a Disney park again.

Cast members a thing of the past

By S P |

Remember when CAST member meant something. The employees played parts in every land, at every ride. They asked you how our day was. It really set Disney apart from six flags etc because they were CAST members. They made it fun. Sadly that is gone. I have visited Disneyland since the 70's. So everyone that is 30 or under may disagree with me, but that is because they never got to experience the magic the way i did. As a kid, as a father, and now a grandfather. WE visited last week for a couple days with my granddaughter. I noticed that there were plenty of employees just no cast members. At every venue, no one went out of their way to ask us how are day was, where we were from, or who our favorite characters were, etc. They did talk among fellow employees, but really no interaction with us, the customer. This is how it is at every business etc. But its not suppose to be this way at Disney. We were waiting to go into the Star wars Cantina, first in line with three employees feet away, including a manager. Not one went out of there way to even talk to us. We just stood there listening to the conversations they were having co worker to co worker about the party they went to. This is one example of what happened everywhere for two straight days. The workers didnt seem to want to be at work. No energy or excitment. And for you that are too young, this is something that was so special about Disney. I understand after covid it is difficult to find people who want to work. And I understand Disney has to have workers. So i understand in not being able to hire CAST members like the past. It just really made this an expensive, not very magical visit. It was sad to see this since this is what really made Disneyland such a magical place.

By TW C |

Too expensive now. It’s a playground for the rich and the YouTubers. Families are priced out. Kids will have more fun if you stay at a resort with a great pool area

Short Waits Were Essential

By daveepstein5 |

Disneyland guests sometimes experience long waits prior to boarding rides. My wife and I addressed this problem before and during our August 2025 park visit. We consulted crowd calendars to choose a visit date and began accessing rides at 8 AM. Our average wait to board major rides was only 10 minutes. The longest wait was 25 minutes for the attraction Rise of the Resistance.

The park had several positive features. Among them were great rides, friendly staff, decent food and clean bathrooms. But the short waits were essential to making our visit a five-star experience.

Best Disneyland Visit Ever

By Nataleen S |

My Disneyland visit on December 3rd was the best! I got to go on the "It's A Small World After All" ride, and plus, the place in Disneyland my Dad took me to was awesome! First he took me to a dance party place thingy, then to a movie thingy, where I saw Donald Duck in every show I saw on the movie screen thingy! That was when my Mom and my friend Aria went on a separate place in Disneyland. Plus, the staff at the movie place thingy-----she was very nice! It is best for when your child wants to have some fun on rides! The crowd size from when I got in line was not much. I stayed from a morning-ish time to an evening-ish time, which meant a whole day! The admission fee was medium, which meant not too big and not too small. I recommend going there for some awesome Disney fun!

Warmest , Happiest feeling ever!

By nperry65554 |

What can I say!!! The happiest place on earth it is! If you never been ? What are you waiting for! I love ❤️ Disneyland ! Mickey

By beerstein |

Disneyland was great. So many unique experiences and some of the attractions, they go all out for Christmas. You may think some of the rides are the same attraction as they share the same name but most are very different.

I will say if you're coming expecting to wear your magic band don't bother. It's far less convenient then it is in Disneyworld. Staff in general while really nice were lnt acknowledging you or welcoming you like they do on Disney World.

Food choices while expensive were quite the variety and service was quick.

Star Wars Galaxy's edge is much better for the character meets as they are strolling around all the time same with just regular characters.

By traveling_gal00 |

The grounds and theming are beautiful as always, and the parade was great, but I was very frustrated with the lightning pass system. First of all, you have to pay for it, when it's already such an expensive day and then, you can't even use it for half of the rides. We don't go on the thrill rides, but the waits for some of the ones we wanted to do was over an hour in the blazing heat, and we purchased a lightning pass!!!! And then, if you use a pass, you have to wait until it's used before you can book another one, and the times all get taken. It was so so so busy, wall to wall people, and it was so hot that there was not much of a magical feeling happening at this park. There were multiple rides that were either shut down completely, or shut down while we were on it or waiting for it. It felt like most of our day was spent waiting in lines, and when we paid $90 to avoid exactly this, that's pretty damn annoying. Do better Disney!!!!! Stop being so greedy and go back to the way things used to be!

The 70th Anniversary Tour at Disneyland is great

By sjskns |

This review is for A Story of Celebration: 70th Anniversary Guided Tour at Disneyland.

The Wife and our daughter went to DL specifically to go on this tour, while Hubby stayed home with the cats.

Our tour guide was Brittany, who was delightful and knowledgeable. We loved the information about the history of a particular palm tree from the original farm/ranch and we were able to go and look for it. Brittany kept the tour guests engaged, asking about favorite Disneyland memories that we all shared with each other, which made the tour seem more personal. And Brittany was always concerned about our safety, which, since the wife is as old as Disneyland, was appreciated.

One suggestion for the script, try and provide more history about old attractions, such as perhaps showing a picture of a ticket booklet and pointing out the Alice in Wonderland Ticket Booth mushroom. We were able to share the location of the old Skyway stairs behind Casey Jr.

The Lightening Lane pass was an unexpected treat. And of course, being able to see Paint The Night in a special section with other tour guests made this tour a great choice.

Classic rides.

By Catherine M |

This was our first trip to Disneyland though we have been to Disney World several times. We enjoyed the day for the most part. Haunted Mansion is normally my favorite it is currently made up for The Nightmare Before Christmas. It was cute but not great. We really enjoyed seeing Mr. Toad’s Wild ride again. Rise of the Resistance is Wow. Except for a disappointing dining experience we really had a great day.

Part of an Anniversary trip with family

Celebrating our 60th Anniversary with family. The wheelchair rental was a godsend since I recently broke my foot, but did not want to cancel the trip. Disney cast members were fabulous and helped me many times getting on and off the rides.

Totally crowded tourist rip-off

By Fitnessclub E |

Totally overpriced and hopelessly overcrowded tourist rip-off. Not only the tickets, are incredibly expensive also in the park you are driven from one overpriced merchandising store to the next. All visually nicely raised although you can already look at some things the age. The dream shatters when you stand in front of reality.
Actually it starts at the entrance, my 70€ selfistick was taken from me by more than unfriendly security staff and could not be deposited anywhere. Supposedly thrown away. On the plane, however, the small stick was not a problem at Disney. I was even more upset when I saw countless visitors with selfistics and umbrellas in Disneyland. Thank you Disney. 🤮Amusement rides can only be used after waiting 1-2 hours, sometimes in the blazing sun. When we finally brought ourselves to line up where and we waited for 45 minutes, they said through it was broken and we had to leave. Supposedly very common, as one visitor told me. Also, the friendliness of the staff is sometimes more reminiscent of a boot camp than Disneyland. A measly hot dog and a small bottle of normal water costs 20€ . Seating totally crowded. We had taken the more expensive Lightning ticket especially to not be completely done, but even here a lot can not be used because broken, or it only goes at a certain time, and you have to walk across the park again to use your timeslot.
As for many, it was a dream for us to have seen Disneyland, but the disillusionment was great.
If I think we only paid a total of 80€ for all three national parks I am sorry not to have spent more time there. On our next USA vacation there is no more room for the rip-off at Disney, but surely more for the beautiful national parks.
In short, if you want to keep the dream of Disneyland with a day of fun and joy, I can only advise NOT to go and with the money you would have to spend where a week's holiday is different.

Disneyland is fun but takes a little planning

By Mary Ann M |

We went to Disneyland in mid August on a Sunday and Monday. It was my niece, who is in her early 20s and me. Here are my thoughts.

1. Sunday was more crowded than mostly because I think it had more locals going. I say this because school started in LA on Monday and there were far fewer school age kids on Monday.

2. Sunday we used our Lightening Lane pass a lot (we had the cheaper version, not the premier.) it worked well and we easily got on popular rides like Radiator Springs Racers and Star Wars Rise of the Resistance and Guardians of the Galaxy. Monday we barely used the Lightening Lane because even the most popular rides were only 30 minutes or so. Indiana Jones said it was 45 minutes, but we waited 20 with no Lightening Lane.

3 We got to the Parks by 8:30 am both days, stayed still after 10 pm (with an hour break back at the hotel) and could not ride all the rides, although we rode most of them. If you want to ride everything, you need 3 days. Otherwise figure out what you don’t care about as much and focus on what you do care about.

4. The Incredicoaster is an old roller coaster with shaky, not smooth, tracks and made me really nauseous. I rode Everest at Disney World and felt fine. Space Mountain, no problem and it’s old. But the Incredicoaster shaking and very rough ride made me feel sick. I was fine as soon as I got off the ride. If you have a motion sickness issue, maybe stay away.

5. Our hotel, SunCoast Park Hotel was nice, not too expensive, and easy walking distance to Disney. It was also near lots of restaurants so I would definitely recommend it. The Disney run hotels are insanely expensive. There are only 3 and they are way more expensive than similar hotels at Disney World, if you can believe that.

6 We walked 11 miles a day each day we were there, so comfortable shoes are a must. Buy your souvenirs at the end of the day or before you go back to the hotel if you take a break. Otherwise you have to lug the shopping bag around, which lots of people were doing.

The most overpriced & overrated place on earth!

By Monica M |

I used to go to Disneyland every other year and lately each time I go the experience gets worse and worse while the prices on the other hand keep rising.

Super long rides for super short rides, angry and tired people everywhere ( both kids and parents). Very few "genuinely " happy. A lot of for the picture smiles that erased right after pictures were taken. Kids meltdowns all over the place.

Overpriced food/ toys/ souvenirs. On top of the expensive ticket, be prepared to spend $30 on top go go on a lower wait time lane ( still long wait lines).

Most kids visiting are bored at the lines and the ride does not compensate for their misery waiting in a boring line. ( if they had an interactive or something to look at or touch while waiting).

As a parent taking my child to a temptation land where they have all kinds of toys at the exit of every ride at ridiculously high prices is not my ideal of a "happiest place".

Bathrooms are too far apart and always long lines ( a park very poorly designed for families where kids might need to go on short notice) Little Kids might need to go pee while in the 45 min or even longer wait line. If you dare take them to the restroom and risk not getting back on time, prepared to be fought by other parents in the lines that do not remember see you take your child out and that the rest of your party is still waiting for you a bit ahead of the line. Put on Diapers on your kids.

The food was so bad my kids did not eat their pizzas or their hamburgers and they love pizza and hamburgers. ( I tasted them and they are below mediocre and again, overpriced).

This was my experience as a seasoned goer. I can see how first timers have an even worse time with no signs anywhere and not prepared to be stressed and Misérables on the "happiest place on earth".

This is the last time we go if they do not do something about it.

This place is no longer a place where families can go, escape "reality" and enjoy themselves. Its a money squeezing factory where the most important thing is to have you send more money on the least cost. Not worth it at all.

You are better off going on a real vacation to Hawaii, Bahamas or South America.

Single Rider issue!

By suzieqqq2017 |

I have a real problem with the “you have to ride with a stranger if you’re alone” policy.. I waited in the long Stand By line (opposed to the Single Rider line) because I do not feel comfortable riding with a stranger on a 2-seater ride. I was told I HAD to ride with someone from the Single Rider line, that it was protocol. You better believe I stood my ground! NO! No one should be forced to ride with a stranger, especially if they are in the regular Stand By line.
I also witnessed many times a child having a strange man (from the Single line) being put into the seat next to them. This is absolutely NOT ok!! No child should ever have to ride with a stranger!
Disney needs to absolutely ban this “protocol”. It is a huge safety issue and even being made to feel uncomfortable- unacceptable.

Amazing!!!

By Hollie E |

When planning our trip to Disneyland California I told my friends to manage their expectations, that we wouldn't be able to ride every ride we wanted and that we wouldn't meet that many characters. I'm happy to say I was wrong!

We arrived not long after opening on Thursday 28th September 2023, we walked onto most rides for the majority of the morning. The park did get busier by afternoon/evening but by then we'd ridden almost everything and didn't mind waiting.

We met several characters, loads that we hadn't even seen at other parks we'd visited. We queued to meet the princesses and got Mulan, Snow White and Ariel. There were lots of characters just dotted around the park that we were able to meet too.

All the staff were so lovely, we were told to get our 'first visit' badges and as it was nearly my birthday I got a birthday badge too.

We downloaded the app before we went, this was super helpful, it had all the wait times accurately listed and we were able to pre-order food.

I don't have a single complaint, Disneyland completely blew my expectations out of the water and it may be my favourite Disney park I've ever visited. There was so much to do and we actually managed to do the majority of it! If I ever return to LA I would return here.

Great experience. Went with a few other couples. The premier lightning pass is a must. Rode all attractions in both parks in one day.

By melanieanndluke |

Such a great, amazing experience! We got two-day tickets both days with lighting passes. Expensive, but worth every penny. If you’re a first timer like us, we highly recommend that you spend a whole day at each park because there is so much to see and so much to do, each park honestly deserves its own day to appreciate all they have to offer. Disneyland has more rides, but less adventurous ones, California Adventure has less rides but of course, the iconic Incredicoaster which we loveddddd. Such a fun, amazing experience!! We went mid January and there was still so much foot traffic, but can’t expect too much out of that. We missed the fireworks on both days because each day we went the fireworks were at the opposite park, but the World of Color was soooooo beautiful it made me emotional lol. I loved every minute of both days!

I’ve been going to Disney for a long time and it’s always the best! I def have a different experience to others as I am a childless twenty something who went with my friend for a day. Disney is expensive but I’m only paying for myself so it’s fine for me price wise. Families on the other hand, I get why it’s off putting ($$$!!). We paid $250 for a park hopping ticket and luckily we were able to do almost every ride in both parks in that time. It was my first time using Disney Genie and I was sceptical at first as I miss the old fast pass system but I was pleasantly surprised by it. For $30 I thought it was worth it and I’d def use again. We were able to plan our day well using it, booking slots in line with no issues or long waits in between. If we went in peak time that might not have been the case. The range of food Disneyland has is great, I could easily spend the whole day sampling everything they offer. Some of the rides are a bit old hat, but also some have the most impressive, hands on, action packed rides with high tech animatronics and visual effects. The new Mickey and Minnie Runaway Railway ride is fantastic!!! They really are unmatched. I love Disneyland 🏰

No fun any more. Just lots of lines.

By Wildwoodatheart |

Disneyland has changed. In all the years coming here, I have NEVER seen it so crowded! (And we used to go in summer and at the holidays.) We were here the first week of March, which is supposed to be one of the slower times - between President's Day break and spring break. I can't imagine what it is like at peak times. Would you even get to ride any rides? They have raised the price, so now it is incredibly expensive. And for a LOT of money, you get to wait in VERY LONG lines to go on rides, so that you cannot possibly ride very many rides/attractions in your day. It feels like Disney has upped their capacity, so that even walking around the park is difficult. No more fast pass. Now you have to PAY for a lightening pass, on top of the exorbitant park ticket. And we noticed that even the lightening pass folks had to wait in line. A few rides have single rider, and that worked well. But it seems Disney is no longer the happiest place on earth. It is just the most over-priced and crowded place.

Good for a Family Vacation

By Christopher N |

Recently went to Disneyland with my family and we had a blast. The food was on the expensive side but the fun rides made up for it. This is a good place to visit if you are looking to plan a family vacation.

By John |

Nice to be at the original theme park but it is smaller than I expected, queueing was actually well managed and surprisingly short, the fast pass was only $30 (great price) and the group of 30 teenagers I was with had a great time. The light show in the evening (fountain and light show at the adventure park) was nowhere near as good as I have seen before at other Disney parks

By Leo W |

Terrible Disney experience. No disney all star parade , no fireworks show. WTF, and super tiny castle .every thing looks agates and very old school.

Didn’t ruin the whole trip but still disappointing

By Carissa F |

After 30 years, I was looking forward to experiencing Disneyland again and this time seeing it through the eyes of my kids. It was our first time as a family and we were very excited! We drove from Canada and camped at the Anaheim RV park. Our first day, we got up early and packed up our wagon with snacks for the kids, jackets for the evening when it cooled off and a blanket for the family to sit on for the parade. As we approached the park, an employee stopped us and asked why we had a wagon. Now this part was our bad as my mom and I failed to communicate if either of us had read the Disney website and assumed we had but neither of us did. Anyways we explained to the employee that it was to help us carry our stuff around for the day. He proceeded with a condescending tone “nope, not allowed. Who’s gonna volunteer to walk this thing back”. Dissapointed, my mom and I walked the wagon back to our motorhome 20 minutes away, saddled our bags and jackets over our arms and walked 20 minutes back to the park. I was quite annoyed with the rude response of this employee and lack of customer service. He could have offered to hold our wagon at the front till the end of the day so that I wouldn’t have missed my kids first reaction to Disneyland and their first ride. Again, not reading the website and bringing a wagon was our bad, but for the price we paid to get there and be there, the customer service was not worth it in that moment. Disneyland could have handled that situation much better!

Not magical

By FarnWide |

We brought our school aged children and purchased park hopper passes with Genie upgrades. After 5 hours in Disneyland we managed to get onto 2 rides. We queued for over an hour for one ride, only to have a park worker come out and yell that it was now closed. Then we waited an hour for another ride and the same thing happened. The park employees do not apologize for the inconvenience, yelling at customers to leave the area, "check the app for when the ride will reopen" and "go find another ride" where you will also face enormous wait times. The park was filled with childless adults wearing mouse ears. That's who you are waiting in line with for hours. Very strange. Overpriced for the experience is an understatement. California Adventure was somewhat better managed, though they do charge additional fees to get on certain rides or be prepared to wait in a line for 2 hours. At the end of the day, my kids said they prefer Hershey Park and Busch Gardens because "at least you can get onto the rides there." On a positive note, we stayed at the Grand Californian. The beds were extremely comfortable and the staff were helpful and welcoming. Will never return.

By LukaszKo |

AVOID by all means, unless you are huge Disney fan. Lines are huge everywhere. Lightning Lane are empty, but you can’t use them because you have to book it in advance, like 5 hours advance… then you can’t book anything else until you take your ride!

They let in too many people , way too many. That is for me worst spent money in 2024.

If you love the Magic Kingdom, you might love Disneyland

By Barbara D |

We love Disney world and while in California, decided to visit Disneyland. The Disneyland park is like the Magic Kingdom plus a few extra rides. The park is fun and can be done in one very long day from open to close. We rode nearly everything using the genie. Matterhorn and Indiana Jones were two favorites for us that are not at the Magic Kingdom. Mr. Toad wild ride, Pinocchio, Wish, and Alice in Wonderland were also cute. We also rode and loved space mountain, Tiana, thunder mountain, Mickey's railroad, and star wars, although all those are also at Disney world, but slightly different at Disney world.

The downside of our visit, as other reviews have mentioned, is the constant ride breakdowns. Mickey's railroad took us 3 tries before we finally got to ride it. Thunder mountain was also down for much of the day. There were also lots of other rides that closed for technical difficulties. It was not as bad as California adventure though. Since California adventure has much fewer rides, the ride breakdowns there meant not riding much of anything.

The service was better at Disneyland then California adventure. At Disneyland when Mickey's railroad broke down and we already waited and were near the front of the line, they gave us a genie pass to come back. That didn't happen at California adventure. At California adventure, they announced people could stay in the line or leave but they wouldn't do anything. And then the rides were broken down for hours.

While service was better at Disneyland, it still did not compare to Disney world. Service at Disney world is 100% better then both of the California parks. At Disney world, even when they can't help you, they are kind and explain why and what your options are. That is not the case with the California parks. Even the app communications are better on the Disney world app.

No idea why there is such a difference in caliber, but seems like whoever is running ride tech and service at Disneyland needs training from Disney world.

So if you are in Southern California, and have a free day, love Disney, then I recommend you check out Disneyland. Just be aware there may be technical difficulties - a lot of them.

Do yourself a favor and steer clear of California adventure. I would not return there.

Christmas in Disney World

By Elias Codazzi |

Disney has given us this happy, carefree, fairytale mentality, and I think having spent Christmas Day at Disneyland fully embodies that concept.
Beautiful and super quaint theme park.
Queues a little too long, but I understand they're inevitable.

By Allison N |

I have been going to Disney Parks off and on since childhood and taking my kids since they were little. We don’t live anywhere near Disneyland so this was a three day drive to get out to California. We had only been to the West Coast park one time as a family in August of 2017 and we had an amazing time. Since then, we have been to Disney World twice with each trip getting less enjoyable (and us spending less time at Disney/more time at Universal). This was probably our last trip to a Disney Park. Sorry for long intro but you need to know we are, in fact, fans. This trip was the most expensive but the least enjoyable ever.

First the crowds - why have a reservation system? (clearly they have some control)
Lines for bathrooms (not just some bathrooms)
Rides breaking all over
Genie + was pretty useless because of broken rides and crowds (passes gone by noon or only a couple rides/late times left)
Spend time walking to a ride, waiting in a line (yes a lightening lane LINE only for the ride to break before we could board), they give you a recovery any ride pass, trek to another ride and the same process happens all over again. It’s like they are doing no ride maintenance.
The decision to do multiple closures and/or refurbs at the same time when they know the park is at capacity ( reservation system)
What happened to all the photo pass photographers?
The sound on some rides is turned way up for no apparent reason (Mickeys Runaway Railway). I am HOH and it was loud. I can’t imagine what people with noise sensitivity feel like on that ride.
Their guide for neurodiversity lists places to take a break that are literally closed BY THEM for refurbishment

I will write a separate review of World of Color dessert party, but that is a complete rip off even by Disney Dessert party standards (and if you’ve been to one you one what I mean). We knew we were mostly paying for a seat, but this was just ridiculous. Do not do it.

I only wish I’d planned better and made time for the beach or San Diego zoo instead. Much better use of time at this point.

Disneyland Hotel is fun and has great access to parks and Downtown Disney

By Jen B |

We went to Disneyland resort with our three kids using the park hopper. The experience was excellent, and we utilized the park hopper to switch between the Disneyland Park and California Adventure. We loved the close proximity of our hotel to Downtown Disney and the two parks
Only a few negarive critiques from our experience. Disneyland offers a restaurant package in which guests can receive a preferred seating ticket to view one of the evening Fantasmic show with a dinner reservation that same day. We booked dinner at River Belle Terrace. The dinner was completely overpriced for mediocre food. Rhere was zero variety of food options for kids. The plates were $55 per adult (over 12) and $30 for children. Futher, the preferred seating was a scam. You were seated on the flithy ground to view Fantasmic, and the fencing was a visual barrier directly in your face. This seating location was nowhere near the value for the $350 dinner bill. On the other hand, I recommend using mobile order throughout the park, and we found that Flo's Cafe at California Adventure and Alien Pizza Planet at Disneyland were good value for money especially finding food to appeal to our three kids. We took advantage of the early entry for Disneyland guests at both parks. Make sure you ask a cast member where the entry is for hotel guests, so you do not inadvertently end up in the general line. The experience at Disneyland Hotel was excellent. We loved the pool, and our room was nice, clean, and the cleaning staff kept it tidy and stocked with towels throughout the week. The poolside food service at the pool was also excellent. Good food and friendly staff. I also utilized mobile ordering at the hotel pool which was convenient. We ate at the Goofy's Kitchen at the Disneyland hotel for a character breakfast. We found the price to be worth the experience. The buffet style breakfast was delicious, with hundreds of options for food and made to order omelets. Your family will have the opportunity for a professional photo with Goofy and other characters visit your table. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Overall, I would stay at Disneyland Hotel again in the future. Just beware of dining options at the park. Utilize your Disneyland app, and order food via the app to make your experience easier (especially with kids!) We did not purchase magic bands, and that worked out just fine for us.

Magic depends on your attitude...and patience

By Ana Maria A |

We went with my husband and 10-year-old daughter for the first time (of the 3) to Disneyland.
My daughter's happy face made it all worthwhile. But there's the good and the bad.
If the lightning pass works, if you know how to plan your day and use the Disneyland app. We had no problem with starwars attractions, we got in relatively quickly. The first without reservation, the second with. They're worth it for big boys and girls so they're not mega starwars fans. After using your booking, you can book the next attraction if it becomes available. Not all of them have time available on the pass rush. But if he leaves you, book because if you save yourself a good rank. While we waited for a reservation, we got on the rides with less waiting time, about 30-45 min. There are attractions for all ages, most for the younger ones we do not get on. We were lucky it didn’t rain at all, so that was a plus, check the weather well in the season you are going before buying your tickets.
The game of indiana jones had an endless row, and it didn't let us book, but we certainly wanted to get on, and it was one of the few that we were missing, just when we decided to do the mega row, the game was closed because of malfunctions, so we stayed around to eat anything because we were already very tired. And out of nowhere the game was reopened and the timeout was 45 min so we ran to form! Everything was going well....until the game got stuck and we were like 20min trapped in the cart in the dark, the good thing was that then it followed and they let us take another spin without getting off to have the full experience of the game, and that they think....it was worth it!!!
To see the parade (which is actually very short) find a place to see it, because if not, there is nowhere, or you can take advantage to get on more games.
If you want to sit down and eat well somewhere, you have to book! Otherwise they end up eating popcorn and churros all day.
The most iconic characters....who believe....are not always there, or you have to have the Disney credit card to see them!
Leave all purchases until last!!! So that they don't insert themselves and have to carry the stuffed animal the bucket the sword all the way.
In conclusion, go so that they do not tell you, but be patient and willing! I wouldn’t even have come with my younger daughter, I don’t know how they do with babies and strollers and desperate 3-year-olds wanting to get on something fast.

A fantastic three generation family vacation trip to Disneyland was smooth, exciting, memorable and enjoyable. Sure there were crowds but it really wasn’t too much with the use of fast pass which allowed us to time rides and make the most of our time. We enjoyed the rides, restaurants, activities and fun for all ages. Be sure to make reservations to eat at the Blue Bayou restaurant in advance as this is a must do whenever we go.

Disneyland experience

We enjoyed spending time in Disney ,, we were able to carry water with us avoiding higher park prices ,, rides were well maintained,, short lines ,, earlier in the day ,, light snack bars good choice to carry ,,

Cute, crowded, expensive.

I’ve been to Orlando and Tokyo Disney parks before and this one is great too. Tokyo Disney is a similar experience and tickets are cheaper, so I prefer Tokyo Disney.

Eh, it wasn't bad...

It was very expensive and was VERY packed. (there were times when we waited almost 1-2 hours to get onto rides). If you are going to go I recommend staying at an outside hotel, as the official hotel costs a lot of money.

Disneyland Resort with Kids

By Wmarin01 |

Wow! Where to begin. Great place for the entire family. Total themeed emersion in the different lands and on attractions. Each land and attraction tells a different story. We went to both Disneyland (DL) and Disney California Adventure Park (DCA). Two days in each park is ideal so you can see everything each park has to offer. In DL My 8 and 10 year old loved Rise of the Resistance and Smugglers Run in Star Wars Galaxy Edge. In DCA I would not miss Radiator Springs Racers, Incredicoaster and Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout. All and all so much fun. A lot of walking so where comfortable shoes.

Un-haunted experience

By rugsbern |

Overall, we enjoyed our visit with one major exception- the haunted house was shut down for our entire 3-day visit due to Halloween decoration set-up. We came in prime season and took my grandchildren from Ireland for their first visit. One of the rides that they looked forward to was the haunted house, a major attraction. Why would Disneyland close a major attraction during prime season to decorate for a holiday 2 months away? Why couldn't this have been done during the night when the park is closed? Don't you think that we should at the very least, be informed days in advance since we had both park and hotel reservations and they had my contact information?

It really is The happiest place on earth.

By Rob W |

What can you say but, It’s the happiest place on earth.
Absolutely fantastic on all fronts.
Amazing.
Great attractions and rides.

By eventhorizon1028 |

Disneyland bills itself as the "Happiest Place on Earth," but that was not our experience. We saw very little smiling, even though the weather was perfect.  I'm guessing this was due to crowding (specifically in Disneyland Park) and long lines (both at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure). You can purchase Genie+ tickets to make the lines shorter, but there were still lines. There were also several attractions that were closed for "refurbishment": AstroOrbitor, the Haunted Mansion, it's a small world, Sailing Ship Columbia, IncrediCoasters, and the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters was not open one day because "there wasn't enough sun," according to a Cast Member. The Tom Sawyer Island was closed for the weekend. It's hard to justify spending so much on tickets only to find you can't see these attractions anyway.  And Disneyland staff didn't know when these attractions would be reopening. Another problem seems to be ride maintenance: One of our friends was in a car at Radiator Springs that broke down twice. Those of us who successfully completed our rides were forced to sit in our cars for 30+ minutes before they could replace the broken ones. Meanwhile, there was no reason given as to why we were not allowed to get out or how long it would be before we could get out. Not fun. We wondered if the pandemic had affected staffing levels...that is, they don't have enough staff to keep everything open and running properly.

What we did enjoy at Disneyland Park: Pirates of the Caribbean, the two Galaxy's Edge rides, the Star Wars ride in Tomorrowland, the Matterhorn, the Mark Twain Riverboat, the Tom Sawyer Island, the Finding Nemo Submarine Ride, and Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. You can skip the Jungle Cruise unless you have small children, as well as Space Mountain, which was rundown. The monorail has only two stops and also seemed rundown.

What we did enjoy at DCA: Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout, Radiator Springs (when it worked), the Little Mermaid Undersea Adventure, and Turtle Talk with Crush. You can skip the Soarin' ride; it's not very well executed.

Disney magic at the happiest place on Earth!

By Vacation_Commander |

Don't get me wrong, we had a great time here. Seeing attractions like the famous Matterhorn and all of the original Fantasy Land just like Walt designed it was great, but man, this place gets packed. Because it's old and they have limited amount of space, they do a great job of making queue lines and attractions fit everywhere, but walkways and passages are more narrow and get clogged with people rather easily, especially during parades and shows.

However, once you get out of the main hub part, it opens up and isn't as bad. The best part is Star Wars: Black Spire Outpost. I think I could have easily stayed there all day just to take it all in. Rise of the Resistance is one of the best ride experiences I've ever had. We got lucky because it had broken down, but had just opened up as we walked back to that area, so we only had a 15-minute wait. I also can't express enough how awesome it was to build my own lightsaber. It's pricey, but I highly recommend you do it if you are a Star Wars fan.

Overall, I am happy that we went (even though WDW is closer) we spent a full week in the area and did Disney 3 days. One at DCA and two here since we needed two in order to see and do all that we wanted to.
July probably isn't the best time to go with the heat and the crowds, but it worked out for us ok.

Disneyland Parks Could be Twice the Size to Allow Room for Everyone to Enjoy

By sueby2008 |

This is a very honest review and I would like to give 5 stars but I am not in a hurry to return to Disneyland Parks due to I feel, over crowding. But would like to give some feedback that may be helpful. As a couple we feel there should be more than one entrance to disperse the crowds to and from the park. With a very large crowd only being able to enter and leave down one street in the morning and night and coming to view events, we feel its a health and safety issue. We couldn't look at the shops as they were overcrowded and could not enjoy the main street as it was body to body. If there was an entrance from the carpark area; and downtown Disney that would help and there could be an entrance roadside also so not everyone is funnelled through one area. It may have worked in the 1960s, but does not work in 2024. Disneyland Parks could also be doubled in size, so people can spread out and enjoy the park.

Long on money place, Short on magic place

By Kay G |

The attractions are constantly breaking down and people are cutting the lines pretending to look for relatives. To charge $224/person/day when the rides are nonstop broken, and the wait times are super long (encouraging the line cutting), is low brow. In addition to the 4 rides that are currently closed for refurbishment, ~13 rides closed temporarily on March 17 (some multiple times). This makes planning out your day impossible as you end up running all over the park and barely get on any rides even with Genie+. Further, all the malfunctions make the Genie+ (Lightening Lane) upgrade not worth getting since everyone gets a “multi-ride pass” when a ride breaks down.

It also makes me worry how safe these rides are. Disney stock hasn’t performed well until recently, and I wonder if they are trying to extend their current parts for as long as possible vs replacing parts before issues arise. The rides didn’t breakdown this much pre-COVID (I was a passholder).

The employees are either super dismissive about the constant ride failures or just desensitized by how often this happens. If you complain/mention anything, they pawn you off on guest services. After the 6th ride failure of the day, I went up to guest services by Matterhorn, the guy looked super bored and stared past my shoulder, then said ok and dismissed me. The departments also alert one another if a guest has a complaint and likely badmouth the guest. When I entered City Hall guest services they were definitely combative. As an adult with fairly thick skin, I am embarrassed that I gave those people the satisfaction of seeing me cry. I was genuinely not expecting them to bully me, humiliate me, gaslight me, and call me a liar (they track when the rides get temporarily shutdown…so how/why would I lie about that).

It took a lot for me to say something to guest services about all the issues at the park (I also had my hair pulled, hoodie pulled, had my seat kicked and had a little girl scream directly into my ears on the Small World ride where a Disney employee saw everything but said nothing…further some teens kept screaming and shoving me while waiting in the RoR line). When the City Hall guest services noticed that my face was red from embarrassment at having to complain, they condescending smiled at me, started talking loudly about their terms and conditions, and refused to refund the useless Genie+. I don’t understand people who enjoy being mean to others. What did I do to deserve that?

Also, be careful if you buy anything at Disney. I bought one of the “sturdier” $60 backpacks and the clasp that adjusted the straps was broken; I only had the bag for a few hours. Guest services refused to let me return it. I had to jump through hoops and show them that the strap adjuster wouldn’t clasp. I felt like I was being taken advantage of; they were basically gaslighting me about all of their ride and product quality issues.

As a now former Disney Adult, I see why none of my SoCal friends wanted to go to Disney even after I offered to pay. This is not a magical place, it is a money place for Disney to charge you $224 while they conserve power with ride failures and/or spend time extending their life on your dime.

The most tone deaf aspect about all of this has to be Disney sending me a “very important” survey about how to get me to spend more money on food in the park. First, why don’t you fix the rides, long queues, line cutting, inappropriate cast members and say something about children/teens not touching people, so that folks want to be in the park in the first place.

Disappointed in Disney

By Jennifer C |

Disneyland is too crowded and too expensive for the value offered. They have enough money to make the experience worth more. The lightening lane pass is a joke. Everything in the park is overpriced. Shameful.

By The Glogs |

This is the Magic Kingdom of LA. Definitely the busier of the 2 parks and a lot more little ones. Longer queues. Still amazing. Disney is magical. We had a great time.

By BakingMama |

So sad. Disneyland was extremely disappointing. You pay thousands of dollars for just one day, and most of the main attractions were either not working or they broke down while we were in the line (one actually breaking down while we were on it). Made it very hard to find a working ride. There were no shows anywhere, no parade around the fountain in the afternoon with singing. There weren’t any characters to be found, and even though we paid for lightening lane, we still had to spend an extra $200 to use it for the rise of the resistance ride. Basically, Disney has created their own shrinkflation. So much more expensive and with so much less to do. The light show at the end of the night was just sad. Nothing but lights being projected on the castle, no people, characters, and NO Tinkerbell. I don’t think I can recommend Disneyland any more.

Overpacked and overpriced

By Shari S |

Overpacked and Overpriced! The tickets were a shock but you can save a few dimes at Costco.
The prices once you get in outragrous!!!
They pack you in like sardines. So I wouldn't mind paying more if they limited the amount of people going in. Wasn't that the point in the beginning raise the prices and have it limited that's why you make a reservation so that it's not so crazy packed. It takes hours of standing in line even with the lightning pass. I am talking hours and hours and hours. You are lucky from the time it opens till evening to get on nine rides. They don't offer enough shade. They don't offer enough seating for the amount of people that are around. They r rob you on the cost of water. Every single thing is outrageously expensive. There are so many people crammed into the park that even the staff seems frustrated.
The lightning pass isn't working correctly because it sells out in the morning so if you're planning on going a little bit late pretty much everything's booked up because they have overpacked the park. They have crammed that park so full that lightning pass just becomes nothing a lightning to wait in line for an hour or two or three. There needs to be some kind of government control on this on how many people you should be allowed to cram into a park this isn't how it is if you go to Universal or any other Disneyland park Paris or Disney World. Only Calif, simply horrible.

Overcrowded and overpriced for long lines

By Batesmotel |

Overall, my visit to Disneyland in April 2024 was poor. I hadn't been in ten years and decided to finally go. I was disappointed from the get go. When we arrived at 11am on a Sunday, it was a 30 minute wait in the car just to pay for parking. That was unbelievable and I had to use the bathroom since the water I drank couldn't wait any longer. They need to do something about that, but they won't or they would've by now. If people have any kind of annual pass or magic key, then Disneyland should have a separate entrance for those people. Very disorganized.

Luckily, going through security was quick and entering the actual park. By the time we were entering the park it was already an hour after we arrived at the parking structure. Seriously?

Inside the park, it was already crowded. Rides were an hour wait on average like Space Mountain, Rise of the Resistance, Matterhorn, Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Train, Peter Pan, Thunder Mountain, Indiana Jones.

Alice in Wonderland said 20 minutes, but then they were letting all of these fast pass genie whatever people in. Normally that's fine, but they were doing it for a half hour. So the wait ended up being an hour. Ridiculous. Plus the Haunted Mansion and Splash Mountain were closed for most of 2024 to do a refurbishment and make theme changes to Splash Mountain that no one asked for.

One obnoxious guy nearly knocked me over to race to get in line for the Pirate's of the Caribbean. That line was short, so not sure why that arrogant person was rushing. There was no one in front of him. An obnoxious woman cut us off nearly knocking me over to get into the line for King Arthur's Carousel. Neither of those people had the decency to at least say, "Sorry about that". Or "Excuse me." It's just a ride, calm down. Then another obnoxious man ran into me and pushed me aside with his body, which as you know is assault. Disneyland did nothing as they don't care.

The Disney experience is nothing like it used to be in the 1980's and 1990's. I realize it started to go downhill once they built California Adventure as that's when the out of control crowds started growing each year. It's also why I hadn't been in ten years after 2014. I just had enough of that. Don't know why I thought it would've changed by then, but no it's actually worse. There are no days that have low crowds. They need to stop selling annual passes and discounted tickets as that's not necessary anymore. It's too crowded for that. If they cut those out, the crowds will drop dramatically.

I'm willing to pay more if I know the park isn't crowded. I used to have annual passes too. Throughout the 1990's when I had a pass, no one had them, it was unusual to have it. And the park was always empty, magical and enjoyable. That's no longer the case. What makes the park not magical are the horrible people that go there now. Just rude low quality people. And I know I'm not alone. Just read some of the other reviews complaining about the same thing. It's not a safe place to go to anymore. If you love overpriced tickets to stand in long hour wait times and wall to wall people all over the park that there is no place to clear you mind, then this place is for you.

2nd time at Disney and this time with a 16 yr old.

It’s all that you expect of Disney but the staff need to smile! 80% where not the happy people I was expecting . Probably the most unfriendly Americans I have come across so far which surprised me.

Food options are poor and expensive which also surprised me. One bbq restaurant food option was inedible. Awful.

Rides were great and we did 9 in total with the fast pass! Had to pay extra for Star Wars but worth every penny! Incredible

Must rides - Star Wars, jungle cruise, Indiana Jones
Haunted house was clever but not scary at all . Could be so much better.
Nemo ride very clever as well.

You see all walks of life and everyone is happy! Love that!!

Magical Experience

By Allison B |

I would not advise to do this without the help of a Disney planner. Even with a written itinerary from a seasoned agent, Disney parks is no joke! Is it busy? Of course it is! It’s the most popular attraction in the world for families and adults alike! But if you’re there to truly immerse yourself in what Disney has to offer, you will have a great time.

Lightening lanes were useless in my opinion, with stand-by lines often having shorter and closer wait-times than if you booked a lightening lane for an hour or more away. 60 minute wait times for certain rides were difficult, especially with children. Disney should consider how to make such rides more functional for the amount of visitors they have daily.

Cast members were inconsistent in nature, with some providing curt/incorrect location directions vs staff who would go out of their way to walk us to where we needed to go. Disney should have more signs available throughout the parks to help families more easily navigate the parks and to take additional strain off their cast members.

Though a map is made available, it is not user friendly if it’s your first time. I only noted on our second day that you can use the location tab on the mobile app to see where you are and how to get where you need to go. This would have saved us so much time and energy.

Bathrooms in the park are well kept. There were at least 2 cleaning ladies in each bathroom I entered who were consistently making their rounds from stall to stall to keep it clean and well stocked. Well done!

We went for the Holiday season and it’s an experience we will treasure forever. The fireworks brought my husband to tears while the parade had me equally in tears. We only had two days and though we seen most of the park, a third day would have allowed us to fully experience the park as we did miss some rides and attractions. We can’t wait to be back to experience more Disney magic!

Having been to Disneyland as a child and young adult it was time to bring back my own family (3 teens & hubby). What can I say but Wow! We had one day at DL and one day across the street at DCA. We didn't have hoppers but did have Genie+ which was a must. It seemed confusing at first with the app but once we got into it it was really easy. We got all of the rides that we wanted except unfortunately we waited until the fireworks (9.30pm) to queue for Rise of the Resistance. We were right at the start of the ride, had been through the pre-room when it broke down, not to be reopened that night. That was a huge bummer. As we didn't have a hopper the next day we weren't able to go back and do it. Tip - if you really want that ride either pay the extra or do it in the morning. We used the free shuttles to & from DL & went back to our resort from about 2-5pm then came back to DL until close at midnight. I had one of the best salads I have had while in the USA, a really yummy chicken salad at Hungry Bear Restaurant in Critter Country. The hubby & kids had burgers & chips and they thought they were pretty good. We walked 24000 steps over the day. Good walking shoes are a must!

Happiest place on earth

We had the best time at Disneyland and created such amazing family memories that will be treasured forever! We went during Spring break and wow, it was busy. We purchased a 5 day ticket with Genie plus. We loved every minute of our time at Disney and Doug at the Matterhorn made our trip extra special. My advice is enjoy the experience, hug your family, friends, buy the ears, laugh a lot, get there when the park opens, sit down and rest during the day to take in the atmosphere, stay for the fireworks, bring a jacket, you will get wet on the grizzly rapids and have the best time!

Busy, hot and expensive

By Alison B |

Visited Disneyland for a day so that we could see and experience Galaxy’s Edge. Ended up buying a lightning pass for the three of us which was another $90 on top of the ticket price. Lighting pass wasn’t really worth it and couldn’t be used on Rise of the Resistance. We didn’t appreciate that before buying. Lightning pass is a bit of a con, and many of the rides we’d booked to go on ended up being temporarily closed. All in all, we love Disney, but did end up feeling a bit ripped off. They seem to find a way to fleece you at every turn. Loved Galaxy’s Edge and the two new Star Wars rides, so giving 4 stars for that alone.

To the lady who gave my family tickets to Fantasmic tonight at Blue Bajou - a million thank yous…. Our kiddos were melting down and seating was already full everywhere and a million infinite karmas your way!!

A great day in Disneyland with 3 kids, 2 parents and 2 grandparents. We hit all of our favorite rides, caught the parade and splurged for some Dole Whip!! A+

Make a Plan to Do Everything You Want

By keshort78 |

This trip was over 4 years in the making as this was supposed to be our March Break 2020 trip (parks closed because of Covid 2 days before we were to arrive.)
We did a lot of pre planning and that allowed us to do everything we wanted to do in one day.
The park was clean. The staff were helpful. It was crowded but not so crowded that you felt uncomfortable.
The app is a MUST to see wait times, book lightning lane spots, and to find washrooms, food, etc.
This was our only time visiting this park and we made the most of it. If you are wondering how many rides you can go on I have written a list below of what my son and I did in one day.
7:45am - arrival at park (Space Mountain, Matterhorn, Jungle Cruise (LL), Pirates, Mark Twain, Smugglers Run (LL), Indiana Jones (LL), Big Thunder (LL), Monorial
(BACK TO ROOM TO REST)
5:00pm - back at park (Autopia (LL), Star Tours, Astro Blasters (LL), Runaway Train, Tea Cups, Small World, Big Thunder.

If you've wondered about going to Disneyland resort solo and if it's fun/worth it, the answer is yes! Cast members are so amazing, meeting people from all over the world rules, and going at your own pace is tons of fun.
I love checking out all of the design details which are endlessly amazing. The Fireworks for holiday are extra special. The touches added for the holidays are over the top beautiful. I'm a sucker for sparkly lights!

Happiest place on earth!!!

Disneyland is soooooo magical and lovely and fun my family really enjoyed it. My kids don’t even watch Disney movies!
The theme park is clean and every single thing seems to be well thought out.
The staff is 100% of the time so lovely.
The characters were a huge hit for my little girl.
The rides are so beautiful and have so many details.
The shows are AMAZING and I enjoyed them a lot too as an adult.
Do not miss a trip to Disney.

Amazing.

Disney’s new disability access program needs to change!

By jan o |

I’m writing as a very frustrated and disappointed mother of a 44 year old man with several major disabilities. He is completely deaf and almost fully blind and has numerous other physical challenges. He has a service dog that guides him or he uses a white cane and has to hang on to one of us. We have come to Disneyland numerous times in the past and he has always had accommodations that have made for a wonderful time. Due to his disabilities this is the only family vacation that we go on that he can enjoy. Even though he can’t see or hear he gets the thrill of the movement. When we went to disability services last night to organize a disability pass for today we were told he did not meet the criteria for being unable to stand in a line up. Disneyland has changed their disability access program to only include those with autism or other cognitive impairments. We were told our son could sit aside with a family member and meet up at a point along the way. We are here as a group of 7 and we decided this would once again ostracize Ryan so we would all stay together. So we did and it was a very frustrating day as he stumbled through the line ups and we all felt frustrated. Just imagine for a minute being in an hour long line up and having no sensory input! Their new disability pass criteria is absolutely ridiculous and needs to be changed!

Star wars rise of the resistance is a must see new rise. Buy lightning pass

By art-scuba |

New Star wars rise of the resistance ride is worth the long walk.
The Lightning pass for 30 dollars per person per day makes a big difference on the wait line.
Our family with a teenager enjoyed the following rides
in the order of preference:
Tomorrow land

Star wars continues simulator in tomorrow land near Astor orbitor - 6

Autopia - 6 long line and if the previous person is slow your experience is bad

Astor gun orbit - 6

Millennium falcon smugglers run - 7 simulator with engg. Gunner and pilot. Pilots get the best view. Advice: Others avoid buttons and focus on the simulator in the front which is great.

Star wars rise of the resistance -9 this is new and awesome but a long walk as it is to the end of the park and you have to come back as the loop was closed but worth it. The whole area is designed like Star wars.

Frontier land
Indiana Jones - 8
Jungle cruise - 5
Pirates of the Caribbean - 7.5 but old ride. Getting bored
Rail road ride rollercoaster type - 8.5

Adventure land
Matterhorn - jerky ride 7.5

Such a nice theme park for both children and adults

By Janka K |

My first experience in a Disneyland. I was so surprised by how nice the atmosphere at the place is and also by how nice all the staff members are. Even bigger surprise was that the place is as much for children as for adults.
If you want to explore everything, this is surely not a one day visit place. But then, considering the price, I would definitely recommend to buy the premium ticket for a day and then to learn a bit about the attractions themselves and the attraction reservation system in advance. I believe that paying a bit more for premium ticket pays out, if you know how to use it and what specifically in the park you are going for, as this give you a bit of advantage.

Disneyland no longer cares about the non-autism disabled

By khalid7412002 |

After the changes to the Disability Access Service (DAS), visiting the park is now a dangerous experience for those of use that have issues standing in long lines that isn't due to autism, which is really the only way to qualify for DAS now.

Some people were abusing the system but instead of making changes that would give DAS only to people that truly need it, Disney decided everyone with non-autism related disability should just tough it out at the park and risk harm to themselves.

If you have any family members with non-autism disabilities, I would recommend looking at other theme parks that have a better qualification system.

By Paolo M |

Very badly organised. It starts with 1 hour in a row between parking, security and ticket control. It is only the beginning. Kilometer lines for anything: attractions even 120 min, water (one fountain for everyone?!?!?), bars, restaurants and even bathrooms. Very rude staff. Attese lunghe anche con Lightning Lane… uno scandalo!!!! $600 tickets to come away disgusted and angry in the middle of the afternoon. If you are in the area, Universal Studios all your life, otherwise better Euro Disney.

Not great,,,,

By Malfoymay1 |

As a huge Disney fan Disneyland CA was a disappointment it did not have the atmosphere or the friendly helpful staff Orlando has. The queues were long and there was empty seats when you finally got to the ride, also lots of drinks being sold but very few restrooms and queues to get in even for the gents! Nothing worse ,,,,

Crowded with mediocre food

By SoG |

The place was extremely crowded with the great rides shut down and food mediocre. They have taken away vegetarian options. For instance at Rose Taverns- the cauliflower burger option was replaced with sonata bowl. It had tater tots, tablespoon of quinoa with arugula. Not filling and too much potatoes. Yuck. Everyone was shoulder to shoulder with no room to breathe throughout the park. What happened to reservations if you are overpacking the park anyway. Such a disappointing experience for an expensive trip. Disneyland has lost its charm.

Disneyland California

By Tourist123 |

I really think that Disneyland is a must do for everyone and you will like it! So many things to do - mainly the rides and there is also a parade at the end of the day around 8:00 and it is quite good! No need to pay for the rides unless you want to skip the line. It is a really nice place and you get to see the characters too. The staff are nice too. I went for the whole day. Some people say that you should stay for 2-3 days, buy if you get a good package like me and my dad, you could probably fit everything in. Me and my dad went on nearly everything, only a few rides and little places missed.

By chicknskratch |

Had a great time at the park, bur whatever you do DO NOT USE A TAXI!!! Stick to Uber or Lyft, cab charged us $110 for a 15 minute drive, it was only $28 on lyft but we decided to take a cab because they were waiting outside. Big mistake. Never take a cab in OC

Busy but Amazing!

By Hannah T |

Disneyland was wonderful as expected. Amazingly magical park with some fun rides! Would advise trying to go when it’s less busy, we tried a random Tuesday in September but it was at 94% capacity!

Set your expectations accordingly and have a great time!

By ClaireleecherrySFEB |

It is what you make of it. On a good day, it is busy. On a trying day, it is insanely crowded and shoulder to shoulder with strangers.

We knew we would not get to do all of the rides. We decided to pick 1-2 rides that we each really wanted to do and then take joy in Disney magic. When crowds got suffocating, we sought refuge at restaurants, treats, Tom Sawyer island, Tiki Room, Mark Twain River Boat, and train.

We played games, trivia, and enjoyed treats while waiting for rides.

I wish it required less planning. Kiddo wanted to hold my hands and hug and sometimes I had to pull away to book rides. But, we had many special moments. We did not over plan. We did not try to fight the crowd for fireworks or shows. We tried to avoid crowds and saw the fireworks at different corners of the park.

Some guests were not nice, but most people were kind.

Bathrooms were dirty at places. There are so many people and the cleaning crew couldn’t keep up but it is fine. I have seen worse bathrooms before. I do wish Disney didn’t pack the park so much during the busy times.

The park is absolutely magical at night with all of the holiday decorations.

It is not the park I remember from the 90s but I feel that we can still have a great time and my kid was enchanted. We didn’t get to do all the rides but we had a quality family time during this shared experience.

By Dwav H |

Never fails to impress! We have been to Disneyland countless times. I thought that the park had dropped off before COVID but it is back better (and moire expensive) than ever. The Lightning Lane pass is worth every dollar.

Never again. I'll go to Universal.

By Kailee C |

I was recently at Disneyland and California adventure and the unprofessional and rude actions of multiple employees makes me not want to return. Having grown up going to Disney, I was extremely disappointed.
I was riding the rise of the resistance, and the party that I got grouped with seems to be Disneyland staff that was not on duty, because they were very friendly with the staff that was on duty. One girl in my group told me, I would be a pilot because everyone in her group already decided what they are going to do. Mind you, I had never been on this ride before, so I didn't know what I was doing. They would proceed to get mad when I wasn't succeeding at steering.

One guy I asked where I could find a pickle. In a very rude tone he replies "right there ma'am, where it says pickles."

And having a park hopper, I was unaware of the event going on at California adventure. I went to scan my ticket at the booth and an older lady says "did you pay the extra money for this event?" I told her no, as I wasn't even aware it was going on. She replies very hostile "well then you need to turn around and go back the other direction." This is for reserved guests only." As I was walking away I overheard her and another employee at another booth repeat what she had said to me, and proceeded to laugh and make a joke out of it.

All throughout the park staff members were seen socializing and scrolling on their watches. It took me a couple of minutes to be acknowledged when I had a question because three staff members were talking and laughing amongst themselves, and fully aware that I was standing there.

I did come in contact with few that were professional and happy to help, but for the most part, all I was thinking was "I will never be back here." All of the money that I'm spending, it's very disappointing to be treated as if I'm just a nuisance. My park hopper pass was completely useless, after having spent even more money. The quality of customer service has gone down tremendously, and I really hope this can be addressed and fixed. To prevent first time visitors from receiving the same treatment and never wanting to return.
I can tell you as a loyal Disney park fan, I will NOT be back.

By Halie T |

What hasn’t been said about Disneyland? It’s everything that you’ve heard and a bit more. The rides, the convenience to Downtown Disney and California Adventure, the theming, it’s all fantastic. As someone who’s only ever visited Walt Disney World in Florida, visiting the original park was a bit daunting. I didn’t know what to expect when it came to crowds or weather, but I realized that it wasn’t nearly as important in DL as it is at WDW. Disneyland is a much more relaxed, causal experience. There’s no need to plan extensively and stress about getting everything done. We arrived at 10am and left the park at 1:00am, feeling satisfied about riding every ride on our list, and exhausted but agreeing that visiting the park was the best decision of our trip. I gave the park four stars because the park needs a little TLC - paint’s peeling in some places and the rides are a little squeaky at times - but it’s also kinda part of the charm? Being able to walk from one park, to downtown Disney, and back to the other park was amazing. No need to run from the bus to the monorail to the Skyliner! Being open until 1am on the weekends is a huge plus, too, especially since we only planned to visit for one day. We’re already looking forward to our next visit! Definitely make time to ride a few attraction if you’re visiting LA, it’s worth it.

By LightPacker802525 |

Everything about Disney met all our expectations and even though a lot of it targeted young children our teenagers enjoyed all the rides
I should have booked another day
The staff were friendly the utilities clean it was just all amazing
Hope to one day do it again

A big thumbs up for Cast Member Scott who is helping out on the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

He just sprinkled a little disney magic on my daughter and her friends (over from UK) who were waiting to ride this and absolutely made their day.

Disneyland Anaheim 🏰 Finally!!!

By delfinacuario2000 |

After many years and many visits to Disney parks in Orlando, Paris and Hong Kong, I finally made it to the one Walt made and I cannot be happier about this! Many people told me "oh that one is small, after you´ve been in Magic Kingdom, the one in Anaheim is nothing....." well well well, not true lol not only the park is not that small comparing to MK, but there is SO MUCH to see!! We went at 8am sharp and were there till about 8pm (park was closing 11pm but we were dead). We only missed the night shows but did all we could in rides, shops, photos, walking, eating and enjoying every corner. Being from Argentinean is always less expensive to go to Orlando as flight is shorter, so I don´t know when I would be able to come back here, but I would certainly love to and also visit California Adventure, which we did not at this time as we were in the area only for 3 days. The park is Disney, not much to say about it, for anyone who knows Disney products, parks, eating, merchandise, entertainment, etc, would know what to expect. Cuestomer service is not the same as before, but that is not a big deal, as it´s not only in Disney, this is happening everywhere! I worked for The Walk Disney Company on board cruise ships 2008 - 2011 and the service was certainly different (much better) but this is also a generational aspect that has changed in all entertainment and hospitality industry so not much we can complain about lol.
I got to see characters and take pictures with Thiana, Goofy and Pluto, we loved specially the Indiana Jones ride, amaziiinggggg, exceeded my expectations! The Mickey runway ride broke down when we were inside and we got to walk around to exit, I know many people would complain about this but I always wanted that to happen to me lol we even got a fast pass for another ride to comp for that and that was super helpful!! I loved every second of my visit to the park!!!!!

Disneyland

By Lead2829 |

I was a little nervous about the size of the park, but we got around all right. We saw rope drop and headed straight towards Rise of the Resistance. The rest of the day we spent using our multi lanes. Indiana Jones and Space Mountain were great. I was a little let down on Roger Rabbit and the bob sled racers. Fireworks along with the water show were cool.

Bad service with staff

By Hudson C |

The Disneyland resort as a whole is great but the service is garbage, especially when it comes to the food. I had dinner at the Carthay Circle Restaurant and they walked us through the main dining area where it is all fancy and they dumped us out in the kind of garbage outside seating. Another time at the Disneyland hotel I was sitting by the pool and I ordered barbecue with my food and they didn’t bring it, and when I called for them they looked at me and walked away. What the heck is going on? Disney get your crap together please. Maybe I’m overreacting but I don’t think so, if you were me you would be mad too. If you Paid thousands of dollars to come here, you should get better service than that.

Very good

It waa very nice for being the first time there, I will go again on december I already have my tickets yay, will celebrate my sons birthday there

Nice time.

I went here for a day. I only went to Disneyland and not the other park. It there is any place that makes you feel like a kid again this would be it. It was really crowded but I went on some rides. I first went here in the 1970s and it brings back a lot of my youth. Really great.

Where Dreams Come True!

Disneyland Park is a magical experience for all ages. From enchanting rides to beloved characters, the park captures the essence of imagination and joy. The attention to detail is impeccable, creating a whimsical atmosphere. The parades and shows are captivating, adding to the overall enchantment. Although crowded at times, the enchanting moments make it a must-visit for Disney fans and families alike.

Disney: Where the Magic Ends at Customer Service

Visited in February during a massive rainstorm. I get that Disney can’t control the weather, but plenty of other theme parks offer rainy day refunds or re-entry options. Not Disney.

My five-year-old was determined not to miss a day, so we geared up—ponchos, umbrellas, the whole deal. We barely lasted 90 minutes before the downpour made it impossible to continue. Went to customer service, expecting at least some basic goodwill. Instead, we got the cold, robotic response: "That's our policy." No flexibility, no solutions—just too bad, so sad, give us more money next time.

No wonder Disney raked in over $30 billion in 2024. When your business model is built on squeezing families dry, who needs customer loyalty?

If rain is in the forecast, pick literally any other theme park.

Heartless.

Not on to the level of Disneyland Paris

By Edmund T |

I've been visiting Disneyland Park for countless years since I was a kid. This last visit in December has shown that this park is basically just for nostalgia and not for actual value. I had the privilege of being a pass member at Disneyland Paris when I lived in France two years ago so I got to know that park very well.

Returning to the original felt like it was a shell and mini version of the other Disney parks. Everything feels so tiny a put right next to each other creating many bottle necks. I felt like cattle traversing the park and even began to feel claustrophobic. Some of the attractions are great such as the two new Star Wars rides, Indiana Jones, and Space Mountain but the rest were lame/inferior versions of what could be found at the Paris resort.

The nail in the coffin was the very generic fireworks show. I was expecting some projections and singing by characters on the castle. It was literally just music playing and fireworks in the sky. I felt this show could've been any fireworks show put on the 4th of July.

$500 for two tickets plus the lightning lane multi-passes for one park, not to mention the $35 parking made this not worth it at all. I don't understand how people still hype this place, it truly is a ripoff.

Give it a miss!

By Gary M |

I have been visiting with family travelling from Australia for 4 decades, I’m never going back. The great experience is gone! It is over priced at every level, lines for attractions can be an hour to two hours, they have lost the plot and it’s no longer an enjoyable experience, give it a big miss.

Very good

By soph_ydg |

We visited on 3 occasions over our week trip to California.

Our first visit was on 1/10 to Oogie Boogie Bash. We entered the park at 3pm to make good use of some time before the party starts to get on some rides and have some photos taken. Once it hit 6pm we explored the character trails - with high hopes we actually felt disappointed - the best trail was for Oogie Boogie and Dr Doofenschmirtz, these characters were very engaging and took the time to make an effort. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for Sid and Ernest de la cruz.
The parade was good but very short and rushed. CM's handing out candy too busy talking to each other to interact with guests. Compared to Mickeys not so scary there was not as much candy handed out.

We were impressed with Disneyland however noted very long lines - for everything - drinks, popcorn, food, toilets and rides. Even the Genie+ queues were very long. In some parts of the park you felt sardined walking shoulder to shoulder with other guests.

We spent one more day at DCA and the queues were better - but it is noticed for rides the majority is genie+ and then one family from standby queue. We did not bother with Genie+ as some of the queues looked bigger for this than stand by

Disappointed no fireworks at either park during our visit.

Overall a very nice park

Didn't want to leave!

By Debbie W |

It's the happiest place on earth, costly and pretty crowded now most of the time, harder to do everything.. But for me it is my happy place. We went midweek, not as bad as the weekend but still very busy. Lighting passes were confusing and complicated to use at times, also again, pretty expensive on top of all the other addons. Best to acquire those first thing in the morning, we learned the hard way. For sure get the hopper pass, not as much to do at California Adventure, Stay at their on-site hotels, and get only 1/2 hour early admission. Plus, the Monorail is close by. I cried all the way home!!

A Magic First Experience

By C & AM Read |

Was our first time in Disneyland, we had 3 days in Disneyland (as well as Star Wars Night) and 2 days in California Adventures.
The staff all through Disneyland were extremely friendly and helpful.
Staff who were working in area's with characters (Galaxy's Edge for instance) were in character all the time, it was lovely to be given directions to somewhere "offworld".
We were here over a weekend, it was far easier to get around and access rides during weekdays, but even at a weekend, wasn't too bad.
We had Genie+ as part of our tickets and were able to utilize that functionality to access some of the rides quite quickly throughout the day.
There were a few rides that were unavailable quite regularly but we were able to access all the rides we wanted to, just not all available on the same day, glad we had a total of 5 days to get through it all at a leisurely pace.
Would definitely recommend this experience to everyone, even if it is only going to be once, like it is for us.

Save Your Money!

By Jay K |

Wow where to start.

As a past cast member I can say with conviction that this isn't the Disney I worked for.

The price you pay for tickets is high enough, and that is fair. You pay for the magic, right?
I think given the nature of the fantastic product that Disney created that's fair.

Let me paint a picture.

Youre finally here! Disneyland, the happiest place on earth. But wait... now that you're inside you can't get a fastpass for anything. Didn't these used to be free? I mean surely you saved up, travelled all the way here and paid your pricey admission right?

Oh so sorry. Here comes the rip-o... I mean Magic!

You have to download and use a cellphone app called “Genie” to access the fastpasses. (who's real magic seems to be siphoning money from your attached credit card number)

(problematic if you are roaming, and I personally can't wait to see my cell phone bill. I'm sure that will be magical)

The constant need to be on your phone takes you right out of the park experience. It's an awful application, draws battery power and data at an excessive rate, and when your phone inevitably dies it costs 30 dollars to buy a battery pack to charge it.

When asked about rectifying this guest services just tells you there is no other option. Have a Disney day!

After all the digital ridiculousness you can only use the fastpass for two to four times in a day due to its built in timing limitation, and they don't even allow it on popular attractions.

Wait... Whaaa?

Didn't you just bite the bullet after travelling down here, finding a hotel and paying five days of admission tickets, and now thousands of dollars later have to shell out an additional 60 dollars for two fastpass accesses EVERY DAY?

*sigh* I guess you pay for the magic right? At least we can all relax and enjoy the attractions in a timely manner now.

Ohhh wait, you can't!? "Not offered" ?

These are POPULAR attractions! Silly me, those cost an extra 13-19 dollars a head each time!! HOW MAGICAL.

Nothing is more magical than paying 60 dollars for two people to skip long lines only to be stuck for 90 minutes in the line you bought the passes to skip while people saunter past you in the lightning lane that expects ANOTHER 19 dollars a head to use.

Then to add even more magic, the popular attraction, (after an excruciatingly long wait line, the exclusive genie app fastpasses you had to pay for magically dont work on) breaks down while you are on it.

What a magical experience. After sitting on the track for a while not moving you finally get off and bring this horrendous rip of... I mean MAGIC to the attention of a cast member!

Instead of an apology or attempt at service recovery,
(which if I remember my training from good old Disney traditions is expected of every castmember when guests bring breaks in the magic to their attention)
Imagine getting an annoyed shrug from the uncaring, apathetic, slightly disheveled, and clearly tattooed castmember, and a"what can you do" comment.

So much for “the Disney look”

Then we get to the park itself. Missing lights on main Street and pixar pier attractions, closed major rides and attractions, derelict old favorites that are being overgrown, horrible lines, way, WAY too many people, absolutely outrageous prices for food and drink, and the constant ever present annoyance of the genie app. apathetic cast that clearly don't care and can't be bothered to make any effort, (too much emotional labour I guess) Not to mention the irritation of a Star Wars fan constantly getting the failed Disney version characters jammed down your throat.

WOW
Can I give you more money?

Next time Legoland and Knott's berry farm.

First-timer Success!

By Dennis Co |

This was the first time anyone in my family visited Disneyland Park in California. It was an extreme success, and I would recommend the Disneyland Park California to anyone hesitant on travelling to the park from the East Coast with the closer of the Disney-themed properties being Disney World in Orlando.

Let's start out with some background information which I will then pair with our experience with each item:
1. We went mid-July, during summer break for the kids.
2. This was part of our overall west coast trip; we flew in from Las Vegas, Nevada.
3. We spent one day at Disneyland Park, and the other at Disneyland California Adventure.
4. We pre-purchased a military three-day park hopper with Genie+.
5. We did not have a plan/agenda for the park.

1. Our time of visit was in the middle of July which made us a bit anxious in terms of the amount of people that would be at the park due to summer vacation across the country. In hindsight, the weather was hot, but bearable in the middle of July; we should have done a bit more research on this, but ultimately it didn't affect necessarily affect our experience at the park despite all our walking.

We did the Disneyland Park on a Monday and California Adventure on a Tuesday. There was still a lot of people, and despite the smaller size of Disneyland Park California compared to Disney World in Orlando, partaking in each area of the park was manageable and was not too overcrowded. We expected there to be a lot of people at the end of the day for the firework show, and managed to secure a spot an hour ahead of time on Main Street prior to people packing in the area (this still seemed better than Disney World Orlando where people appeared to be literally on top of each other when it came to getting some real estate to watch the pyrotechnics).

2. My wife did all the planning for this trip which I am extremely grateful for. In her research, she figured that it would be a lot easier to fly into John Wayne Airport (SNA) rather than Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) which is arguably the larger more popular hub. Flying into John Wayne Airport saved us time and money when it came to transportation to and from the hotel via Uber/Lyft (no more than 30 minutes from SNA to the immediate area around the Disneyland Resort area compared to an hour commute from LAX). As mentioned, we were flying into SNA from Vegas so the air fare was not as steep; I'm not sure how that would look like if you're flying direct from across the country. As it works with your itinerary, I would recommend trying your best to fly into SNA.

3. We only spent one day at Disneyland Park. We were initially worried that one day would not be enough to see and enjoy the park, but our one day here at the park was sufficient. Now, we didn't get to ride on every single ride (we were able to ride the Disneyland Train, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Carribean, Millenium Falcon, it's a small world, Storybook Land Canal Boats, King Arthur Carousel, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Autopia, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, and Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage: Smugglers Run; walk through Adventureland Bazaar, Port Royal Curios and Curiosities, most of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and Main Street; eat at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo and Galactic Grill; do a dance party and arts and crafts at Fantasyland Theatre; take pictures with Minnie Mouse and get to see R2D2, Daisy, Mickey, Rey, Kylo Ren, Stormtroopers, Chewbacca, Luca, Incredibles (Frozone, Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl), Joy, Sadness, Woody, and Jesse; watch the Magic Happens parade and Fantasmic firework show. I know everyone has their own preferences in terms of what part of the park they want to visit, but this for us was more than what we did at Magic Kingdom at Disney World, so by far more of a success to this day.

4. The three-day hopper was a bit of overkill, but knowing that we had the option was nice. We were primarily sold on this because of the pricing. With the three-day hopper, we added the Genie+ (soon to change to Lightening Lane) which gave the complimentary PhotoPass. The Gene+ definitely came in handy (make sure you familiarize yourself with it before hand if you can, but if not no worries - it's not hard to figure out; all rides with Lightening Lane's will require that you make a reservation), while we took advantage of the PhotoPass as much as we could (we didn't use it as much as we did compared to our visit to Disney World and all the parks there).

5. Not having an agenda or plan is not our norm, but we decided to change it up in order to make our family vacation as stress free as possible. This so happened to work out for us which was nice as we didn't necessarily set any major expectations.

For families with smaller children, I personally feel that you should invest your days at Disneyland Park, while older children and adults may enjoy Disneyland California Adventure a bit more. Definitely well worth visiting.

The magic is gone!

By Baker22 |

OVERPRICED! STAFF DON'T CARE! CROWDED! Everything is designed to take more and more money from you. Pay for the Gene Plus and then find out you need to pay even more ( $26 per person ) to use that Genie Plus on Rise of the Resistance. PASS! I'm done!

By Grace |

I know my review is not going to be please most people but it has to be said, Disneyland is completely overrated and just a totally crappy experience!

The "genie" service is a complete waste of time and money as you can only book two rides at a time and sometimes there is a 5 hour wait before your turn or more! We also had to pay extra for lightning entrance to Star Wars. And by the time we did that (12pm) it was going to be 5.40pm until we could do our next "booked ride" unless we waited over an hour in line in the hot sun. Oh and then the booked ride closed for 15 mins and we were bumped to a 9pm slot. No thanks, we arrived at 10am and left at 3pm!

There are basically only 4 or 5 rides that over the of 12 would want to do. We could only get on three.
And what's with all the Disney "adult" fans walking around in full costume? I found it a but creepy.

A tip is to get your Disney merch from Walmart. It's exactly the same but half the price.

The food was just fried whatever and there were crowds everywhere. We all regretted spending well in excess of AU$1000. But I guess it's one of those bucket list things?

In hindsight we probably should have done Adventure Park but my teens didn't want to go back.

Still magical, but not quite like it was.

Disney still knows how to turn on the magic. The new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge area is breathtaking and amazingly rich in its theming. Likewise, the revamped Toontown is wonderful with its new signature attraction Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

The only slight downside now is that a number of older attractions appear to be suffering at the expense of the new. Matterhorn Bobsleds was down much of the time we were there, likewise a few of the small dark rides in Fantasyland were experiencing unscheduled down time. The employees were a mixed group, some were as you expected in that they were friendly and helpful while others seemed almost indifferent to visitors. The “Lightning Lane” system for bypassing lines seemed to confuse some visitors as well, particularly the non-English speakers. Used properly, it was a godsend for getting on must do rides. The park is still a wonderful place, but the current attitude of the company has taken a little of the pixie dust out.

Disney has lost the magic.

By Noel |

I have been to DL over 15 times from Canada starting when I was five to into my fifties. I don’t care about the cost to get in, but I do care than the Disney magic that they brag (and teach about) in the Disney Institute is gone. Bad customer service, happy cast members going the extra mile, worn out and overrun rides, gouging for every dollar once you get in, etc. I could just hang in DL all day if the experience was what it used to be, unfortunately it is not. Disney please fix the parks we love.

The magic is gone!

By Tom B |

It is my opinion that Disney parks, including Disneyland, are no longer what they were in the 1980s and 1990s. The overall quality of the experience has declined as maintenance and labor have been reduced, while prices have risen faster than the consumer price index. Disney appears focused on cutting operating costs rather than preserving the standards that once defined the parks.
For example, Disney’s ongoing failure to properly maintain the Indiana Jones attraction reflects a broader trend in which popular but high‑maintenance rides are neglected or replaced with simpler experiences that require less upkeep. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is, in this view, a particularly poor replacement for the former Splash Mountain, with frequent malfunctions and show elements that do not meet the standard set by the original attraction. Special effects on several of Disneyland’s best rides have also been removed or scaled back, further diminishing the sense of immersion.
Decades ago, Disney’s primary goal seemed to be to entertain and impress guests, and both customers and employees were treated with exceptional courtesy and care. Guests typically left feeling valued, reassured, and satisfied. Today, the company appears more focused on maximizing revenue by introducing increasingly complex up‑charge systems and schemes, while offering less value in return.
This shift is visible throughout the parks: fewer flowers and detailed show scenes, fewer animatronics in new attractions, and a noticeable decline in day‑to‑day maintenance. Guests are now expected to spend a significant portion of their visit planning every detail on their phones, rather than enjoying a spontaneous, carefree day. What was once a magical, welcoming experience has become a highly procedural ordeal that tends to favor affluent visitors, leaving the Disney brand feeling diminished and damaged.

First Disney Park Tickets!

Tickets a bit expensive but worth it! In our case we got tickets that allowed us to move to the two parks!

Best Day!

By Chloe Thomas |

As a WDW passholder, I was eager to visit a different location for a while. Disneyland Park in California did not disappoint.

My mom and I were able to ride 20 rides in less than 12 hours on a Friday. Only a few were due to the LL system.

We were so excited to try so many new rides, plus go on the same ones we have back home since they were different.

Can’t wait to go back!

By Alencia V |

I absolutely loved Disneyland, it was my first time there and the experience was definitely high! The rides were amazing especially big thunder mountain, Indiana Jones and pirates of the Caribbean !

Never again Disneyland! Rip-off

By Ania K |

I think it's outrageous to pay $338 for 2 people regardless of age (plus $35 for parking, which you have to use) for a few rides, where I waited at least 30 to 90 minutes for each one. We were there from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and only got to go on 5 rides. I'm really disappointed. I can only recommend it to people who want to spend a lot of money waiting in line.
People dressed up in Goofy and Star Wars costumes ran away for no apparent reason, to the disappointment of many children and adults, despite being asked to take a photo. We waited 90 minutes to visit Mickey Mouse to take a photo.
Inside Disneyland there are lots of extremely expensive shops for Disney fans and small restaurants.
I can only advise against a visit!!!

By Elsa Boulos |

Had an amazing time at Disneyland California! The attention to detail is impressive, and the rides are fantastic. The cast members are friendly and helpful, adding to the magical experience. Don't miss the delicious food options and the breathtaking nighttime entertainment. Highly recommended!

Park great, organization poor

By Mart41 |

You cannot fault the park itself, the characters, the rides, the experience are all amazing. A fabulous day out.

The cost is high though, but it is what it is.

What surprised me most though, was that they are getting thousands of visitors a day yet seem to have no clue at all at organizing. Lines for the car park, the car open space green lights are faulty, lines for security , lines for the tram, mega lines to get in. They need to do much much better in this respect. So they get a 5 for the park and 1 for organization - that’s my 3 stars.

Not worth the money or time.

By ana1210 |

Not sure why people go here. It is not like Disney World at all. It is more like a Disney six flags. The lines are long, and the rides shut down all the time. Four of the main rides were shut down at different times during the day. The main Star Wars one shut down 4 times the day we were there. Each time for at least 30 minutes. For the price you pay to get in it is not worth it at all. It is also over ran with DEI employees. I did not need to see a man with a full beard wearing a skirt. We will never go back.

Don't buy a T-shirt.

By Jackson |

A terrible, well-run teenager is boring to go, but the detail is good Describe the space of Star Wars well Souvenirs are recommended not to buy a lot.

Must do

By Aussie Travel |

Every child’s dream comes true here. Expensive but worth it. It’s open 8am to midnight and a lot of rides after the fireworks have short or no wait lines for rides.
The Star Wars rides were outstanding

What a waste!

By Hyrum H |

Absolutely overpriced and packed. Could barely ride any rides with how long the 75+ minute waits or higher. Don’t waste your money. Go to universal or knotts instead

3 days park hopper and genie +, magic band + use

By SaysT |

3-Day Disneyland, Mon-Sun Park Hopper Ticket with Disney Genie+ Service The Magic Band+ also came in handy when checking into Lightning Lane.
It was 8:00 a.m., even though the opening time was not even Magic Morning, perhaps due to daylight saving.

First of all, at the attraction, the screaming system of the head family was quite intense, and there were surprisingly many people who left in the middle of the line, who got on board, but left just before they felt like jumping away, who couldn't walk properly after it was over, screamed like a final debacle, and cried.
Greetings were everywhere, we didn't have to wait that long, we had a lot of superhero shows.
It was like a scene from a Disney movie, with the guests being very relaxed, with crisp dances, people singing (either alumni or singer level) and jokes. The three days were an experience that will last a lifetime.

In 2013, the first U.S. trainee for the opening of TDL (park management) told me directly, "Go for three days, preferably five days in a row!" And I said, "I'm going!" For about 10 years, I finally got my dream come true.
As a result, attractions and shows could not be canceled,
You can feel a little bit of W Disney's feeling that seeing guests enjoying themselves in the end is the most fun,
I was also able to see and feel various devices without cutting corners.

Very disappointed - no princess

By Anni K |

This was our first time and we were so excited especially my 4 year old daughter. Unfortunately it was not what we were expecting or hoping for and we came away quite disappointed. Our main focus had been to meet some princess and especially Elsa and the Frozen characters. We were also excited to see the parade.

When we got there and asked about the parade we were informed they no longer have the parade with all the princess and characters but have the odd mini parade. We did see 1 mini parade but it was very short with only a handful of characters and we didn’t see any other parades th whole day.

We did not meet a single princess all day and my daughter was disappointed. We did meet Micky, Pluto and Goofy but not a single Princess which we found very surprising

My husband asked numerous staff were we might find any Princess and we were just told they pop up every now and then. We were told Elsa is based in Adventureland and not in Disneyland at all. Unfortunately we only had tickets for Disneyland and I wish this had been made more clear.

Extremely disappointing especially given the cost and I definitely would not recommend

I LOVE Disneyland @ Christmas time😘💋💋💋! Snow falling on Main Street & the BEAUTIFUL tree standing proudly🎄❤️!! Christmas shopping here is WONDERFUL !

Lightening lane is a must or don’t bother going.

By Voyager05039981871 |

I was completely disappointed when we took our family of 6 to Disneyland this October (on a Thursday). The lines were so long because of the lighting lanes. Apparently, spending over $700 for 6 tickets isn’t enough anymore and you have to spend an additional $35 per person if you want to walk right onto the ride. We waited between 35 minutes and 2 hours for each ride. We definitely won’t be coming back again. I rather use my money to take my family to Universal.

Overpriced overcrowded hell

By Carolyn W |

Total hell hole now…long endless lines and way overpriced. I’d rather be in line at the DMV. It’s gone completely down hill. Save your money!

Customer Service Review

By Sara Jayne B |

This review is for customer service for Disneyland, not the park itself. My kids were given tickets to Disneyland for Christmas by my parents. When we booked the tickets we wanted to buy lightening passes as well. When we added the lightening passes to our tickets we unknowingly purchased another set of tickets instead of just the lightening passes. So every person had two tickets to the park for the same day. I didn’t realize this until we got to the park this week. Customer service at the park saw this was obviously a mistake because why would we want two sets of tickets for the same people on the same day. They said we could get a full refund for the accidental tickets by calling customer service after we left. When we did that the customer service rep (Caroline) was extremely unhelpful. She said there was nothing they could do to help and that we were stuck with the accidental tickets. She said “give them away”. I am disappointed that Disneyland did not give us as the customer the benefit of the doubt and refund us for this clear and obvious mistake brought on by a confusing website experience. Warning to all: Disneyland is ruthless with their refund policy and will not help you under any circumstances when a mistake is made.

By Kevin |

Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park are amazing, especially the night parade and fireworks but don't bother buying a lightning pass, just a rip off and the system is a joke (was expecting a fastrack like you get at Universal) Got to pre book a slot and can only do 1 at a time, many of the better rides when you booked you had to wait hours for therfore you couldn't book another until you had redeemed that booking, also many where booked up for the day by mid afternoon. They also was charging extra for some of the rides so you could beat the que. Absolute joke

Bellissimo.

By Leonardo |

Beautiful experience the roller coaster was the best! Quiet attractions were there, then some attractions were worth queuing for. Then for small children there are enough attractions.

Disappointed

By Richard S |

Too crowded!
They say that late September is a good time to go. HA! It was packed.
Having been to both Disneyland and Disney World, we think the Magic Kingdom in Orlando is far better than the one in Anaheim.
The physical space of Disneyland is much smaller than the Magic Kingdom and you really feel that crowding. Lines and stroller parking are on top of each other and it makes it hard to get around.
We went during the Oogie Boogie Bash (a nighttime event at the California Adventure Park) and that made the crowds increase especially in the afternoons.
The Cinderella castle is smaller here than Orlando, too.
We did pay for the Lightning Lane and used it.
One other disappointment was the fact that there were absolutely no shows, musical presentations or theater type events planned in the park.
We saw very few characters for kids!
Just disappointed since it was less than magical.

Will re-review after email sent to Disney re exchange of defective jacket responded to. Spent $9,967 plus to stay on property and tickets for park (for 8 people) and they will not exchange a Stitch jacket worth $70 without a receipt and was told “too stained” by ‘Jocelyn’ to returned. As of now, we will NEVER come back.

By distewave |

I have been to Disney World on many occasion living on the East Coast, I took a trip to LA and wanted to experience Disneyland. We got hopper passes to experience both parks. Disneyland Park is the exact same as Magic Kingdom in Orlando. The only noticeable difference is that Disney World has Cinderella's castle and Disneyland has Sleeping Beauty's castle, so I could have done without going to that park.

It was quite busy for a Wednesday in October. There were many families with school age kids and groups of teens. Had we realized this, we may have opted for the fast pass. Disneyland ticket are more expensive than Disney World tickets, not sure why.

California Adventure was by far a better park. Walking down the street in Radiator Springs was an unforgettable experience. While we were there, Lightning McQueen drove by! The rides there are geared towards those who want thrilling rides including the ferris wheel. You can opt for the typical ferris wheel experience or take the ride of your life.

I am glad I experience Disneyland. If I went back, I would only go to California Adventure. There are still a few rides I would like to ride but didn't get a change to.

By Amol A |

Must visit. Need at least 2 days. Both parks are good . Many times 3 days offer goes and that is completely worth it . If you are not used to walking highly suggest to take at least one day break between 3 days visit . We did easily 16000 to 18000 steps each day on 3 day visit .

Must see parades as that is what creates magic.

1 day in adventure park and 2 days in Disneyland are good to cover at leaisure . If you don’t want small rides then 2 days in total an also enough .

After doing Disneyland didn’t fell great at Universal Studios Hollywood. We felt universal studious can be skipped if short on time and instead better to spend time at Disney .

It’s well worth it .

DAS (happy Hearts) program

By Karl K |

Love Disneyland for the kids but we do not like the new DAS policy change to only allow 4 people on a ride at once. We are thankful for the program but having a disabled son and 2 little kids ride with only one adult is very hard to manage. Plus it’s harder for the group (in our case 6) to find each other after the rides. Please rethink the 4 person at a time limit to DAS program.

Guest Services

By Susan C |

Guest Services in both California Adventure and Disneyland were excellent. They all went beyond the call of duty. We were travelling from the UK as DVC members. There was a problem with the Disney APP with the DVC part of the app to allow discounts on food. They had to make a call to DVC member services, and Mindy made it all happen. The next day in Disneyland the same issue again, and they managed to fix this again. Alex from Hesperia California and Karl from Torrance California and Mindy (DVC Member Services) were all the people involved. Karl just a FYI the recommendation for dinner at Storybook was fab thanks again all of you.

As a FYI - some of your food outlets would not accept the DVC discount from the APP but wanted to see the actual card, so there is a lack of information on DVC around the park. I hope that helps....... you improve your service.

Thanks again.
Sue and Robert from Ringwood, Hampshire, UK.

Everlasting memories, always

By Leanne Culina-Penza |

I can never rate my time at Disney high enough. Its just always a highlight. No matter how many rides you get on, how many snacks consumed or how many amazing interactions you have, you will always remember the moments you shared here. Everything was brilliant on our most recent trip and we can't wait till next time.

By Marisol L |

Disneyland is so magical. Every time I go , I feel so much happiness and I find my self smiling nonstop. Genie+ is must , this will help you get on as many rides as you can . We went to the Plaza Inn, highly recommend going there for lunch . The chicken is amazing. Blue Bayou is delicious! So many wonderful treats around the park. Definitely pay for the lighting lane for Rise of the Resistance, so that you don’t wait 2 hours . Best ride at the park .

Everyone loves Disney (thus the lines are insane, even mid-week)

By Gery M |

Disneyland is iconic. One of my favorite memories of the trip was when my nephew and niece clutched each other’s hands and said, “We’re really here!” Yet the joy and pleasure of this trip was dimmed by ridiculously long lines (2-hours for Soarin’ CA in the middle of the week?). We had prepped and knew to make the most of rope drop, but by 9am each day lines were 30-150 minutes. I bought the Lightning Lanes, and while I once thought it ridiculous to pay $26 for each of us to wait 20 minutes for a ride rather than 120, when I was there - I had no regrets. There were two times when we joined lines with. “20” minute waits that ended up being more than 1-hour due to the barage of lightning lanes that had been sold. Disney knows how to make you feel “less than” if you don’t pay for all their upgrades. Save yourselves frustration and go in with a goal of making it as easy for you and your family as possible.

Besides the ridiculous lines, the splendor of the Star Wars land, and Radiator Springs remind me of the great things Disney can do.

By Alexandre |

Disneyland Park designed by Walt Disney himself. A must-do experience during a trip to California, and even more so for Disney fans!

Star War Fan

By G L |

Our main reason for visiting Disneyland Park was to explore Galaxy's Edge, with a particular focus on experiencing the Rise of the Resistance and the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Following this, we took a relaxed stroll around the park, limiting our exploration to the Main Street area. As we had visited the park previously, we decided to forego other rides during this return visit and instead concentrate on the Star Wars attractions that we enjoyed the most as fans. Interestingly, we found that there were no lines for the rides, although the park became increasingly crowded in the evening, even during this off-season period.

Disney cast members are horrible

By rudy l |

We went to disneyland and California Adventures. Had fun in both parks. However the disney cast members are rude and inconsiderate and almost seem tp be trying to antagonize people. This was so common among the cast members you would think they are trained to be rude indifferent and inconsiderate. My 13 year old son has down syndrome and needs a wheel chair . He doesnt need a person being mean to him and I called them out. Luckily there is limited interaction with the cast members and we didnt let them ruin our good time.

By Seattleguy000 |

The new Disability Access Service is horrible. Our young adult son has autism but he is capable of standing in a line for up to about 10 minutes as long as people don’t bump into him and it’s not too crowded. The screening interview is now online via video call. While Universal and Six Flags allow upload of medical documentation, which is preferable, Disney requires the parent to graphically explain with the disabled person present what the disabled person’s challenges are that impact their ability to stand in line. I explained that our son could stand in line for up to 10 minutes and needed both of us present to feel secure in an unfamiliar place. First, they told us that he could sit in a waiting area with one of us while the other goes thru the normal line and then meet back together once the person in line gets to the front of the line. This wasn’t helpful, and even if that would work for us, we are going there to spend time as a family - not just to ride the rides while apart for most of the time. The video interview felt like an interrogation including questions like “how does he go on a plane” and “how does he eat lunch at school”. When I told them that their proposed accommodation wouldn’t work they just gave us each a single Lightening Lane ticket that could be used once. The whole experience was negative and not very helpful to meeting our son’s needs as someone with autism. They seemed to only be willing to offer better accommodations if he were expected to have a mental breakdown with outburst if he had to stand in line, but he has a little more self control than that. He instead would just have to leave if things got too bad, but that wasn’t enough for Disney to offer reasonable accommodations. They just didn’t care.

These prices were identical to buying from DL or their app - but I got a 12% (special for 3x the usual %) kickback after our visit by starting at the Rakuten site, using their link to TripAdvisor, and buying from the TripAdvisor site. The vouchers showed up in my email right away, I loaded them into my DL app, and was able to reserve my dates and parks all in the same 15 minutes. Great deal.

Disney can do better

By Stephanie W |

I spent the day at Disneyland by myself and was able to enjoy 14 rides in one day! I walked 27,000 steps and was there from 8 AM till almost closing. I listened to the podcast “Disney Deciphered” on Spotify to get tips for how to maximize my time. The park was very clean and the rides were great. Some of the magic was missing, however. When I drove into Toy Story parking, the attendant was very rude to me - almost yelling at me for pulling up at the wrong spot. It was not a happy way to start my Disney experience. Pirates of the Caribbean was closed as was the haunted house. I knew that before going in from the Disney app. Indiana Jones was broken when I went to it after waiting for my lightning line pass time frame. I was able to return to it and enjoy the ride, although it broke down/halted twice while I was in the ride. Being stuck in a dark ride, strapped in, and not know how long you’re going to sit was somewhat stressful. The sit time was likely only a minute or two, but I (and others) were uncomfortable with it.
Regarding the app, I would have appreciated more outlets to power up my phone since you really need your phone at all times at Disney. When I asked about where to plug in my phone, again, one of the staff was very rude to me and told me I had to buy a battery pack. Disney should provide more outlets for phone charging.
Water bottle refill stations were hard to find, and when found, lines were long. With temperatures rising to the mid 80s, they really should provide more freshwater for people. I know they want to sell water, but the reality is most people bring their own water bottles. I did appreciate the fresh fruit stands (delicious grapes, apples, and pineapple) and healthy food options at the park! Well done.
I missed seeing many of the characters walking around. Interaction with characters is one of the things that makes the park so special. They can really brighten your day and bring a smile even to adults like me! I missed seeing them casually interacting with people. There were a few photo ops with characters, but lines were long.
The staff at “Rise of the Resistance” were amazing. They were in character and courteous at the same time. Additionally, staff at the Disney welcome gate were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. These little touches make a big difference. And with the sticker price of a park ticket + parking + lightning pass fee for not waiting in line at “Rise of the Resistance” + food + lightening pass for other rides, I spent a pretty penny in one day. It was magical, but not what I remembered, or what it should be for the Disney brand. Disney can do better by ensuring all staff are trained and tested with their five star Disney level customer service. Lastly, one thing about the app is that people will bring their phones out and record rides and shows. This can block your view from actually experiencing the ride or the show. “World of Color”was an amazing show. If I go again, I would pay for the dessert experience so I could sit at a table and watch it. I signed up for a virtual queue for the show at 12 PM, for the 9 PM show. It really was wonderful, but slightly annoying because the people in front of me were recording it and were blocking a portion of my view. The phone’s glare detracts from the magical experience. I would suggest Disney encourage people to not record rides and shows at night. I also went to Disney Adventure Park and one of the riders (in front) was recording the incredible coaster ride while riding. I thought this was pretty dangerous and the person next to me was freaked out about it. Disney should pay attention to this trend.

Expensive, food not great, Rise of the Resistance great. Evenings are cold in Dec

By KnitsbyConnie |

Wear a mask if you are in the shops. Germs were rampant. I got a horrible flu being so close on top of people in the shops and other public places where there are lots of people.

It was very cold in the evenings for me. Cold is relative. Anything in the 50's is cold for me. You could feel it by 5pm. I had on 3 layers, and I felt like I needed another layer. Due to that I did not stay for the fireworks.

The Christmas Parade was very well done.

The entrance fee was ridiculous. $420 for 1 person hopper. Does not include meals or anything else.

The staff is superb. I had a problem with entrance days for 1 person in our party of 6. Went to guest serviced in Disney and they fixed the problem immediately and because we were new, gave us 1st time at Disneyland pins, and bonus, lightning pass to the DCA Radiator Springs Racers. While the ride was good, I'm not sure it would have been worth standing in line for 150 minutes to ride it. Just when we are the entrance to the ride, it broke down. So there was an add'l wait time. We had no ideal if the ride was ever going to restart. But we and other who were closer to the front did not leave. We were rewarded by what seems to be a swift ride restart.

The ride that everyone thoroughly enjoyed was Rise of the Resistance. This was a so a well done immersion ride. Since I can't do simulator rides I was concerned I could not do this ride, but the simulation part was so short that you did not notice the simulation part, because you were not in what I call a soup can. At the end of the ride, everyone had smiles on their faces, This was one of the few rides where I actually wanted to immediately get back in line and do it again.

The food in the park could be better, but its basic fast snack food. If you have an issue with what you got, just take it back to the distribution desk and they will give you a replacement. I did not think anyone could mess up pizza, but at the alien pizza spot, they did just that.

There was really only 1 decent breakfast spot in DCA.

Great time!

Disneyland was great as always! A little crowded, but that was expected according to their website. We bought the lightning pass, I recommend it,we rode everything we wanted to ride!

Despite expensive admission, still a fun way to spend the day

By phvi2617 |

Growing up in Southern California, I've been to Disneyland many times, but I hadn't visited in some time, mostly due to the high price of admission. When the park announced a great deal for Anaheim residents, I jumped on it and got tickets for myself and a couple family members. Unfortunately, Disney failed to mention that Anaheim residents could not purchase discounted tickets for nonresident guests. Thankfully, I found out ahead of time, but it turned out to be a much more expensive outing than I had planned. Suffice it to say, Disneyland isn't in the business of saving you money, and if a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Despite the poor communication of their promotions and expensive admission (and parking!), once you're in, Disneyland is still a lovely place to spend a day. The relatively new Galaxy's Edge land is immersive and terrifically themed. Rise of the Resistance is a wonderful attraction, and Smuggler's Run, while a bit confusing, is a fun experience. Of course, there are all the great classic rides like Star Tours, Indiana Jones, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Matterhorn, Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Caribbean. While some attractions like Autopia have probably outlived their relevance, even the Fantasyland dark rides still have some charm.

Unfortunately, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and the railroad were closed for renovations, along with the venerable Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. Beyond the rides, Disneyland still shines in its theming, cheery employees, and dining. Any of the full-service restaurants basically require reservations, and we were able to book a last-minute table for brunch at River Belle Terrace. The meal was very good and surprisingly reasonable. We visited on a Sunday, and while it was crowded, it wasn't horrible. The app is fairly accurate with wait times, and we were able to ride over a dozen attractions without ever waiting more than 45 minutes in line.

Disneyland at Christmas Time is the Best

By Kathleen S |

Disneyland during the Holidays (mid November-early January) is the best. It's so beautiful and lit up and full of holiday cheer. Great food, characters, rides, vibes. We love it. It's important to learn all about Lightening Lanes in advance and to get there 1 hour before the Park opens so you are in the best position to get on all the major rides early. We do that every time and we never have problems with long lines. Love the holiday parade and fireworks and world of color show. Love eating at Bengal Barbecue and Docking Bay 7 and baked potato at Troubadour Tavern - and the popcorn and churro toffee are something we always get - and churros too. We love nigh time lights on Disneyland Main Street and New Orleans Square and at Cars Land in California Adventure.

Nightmare booking - spend 2 hours trying to book tickets for my family. Super stressfull. Tried all credit cards. My wife signed up and did the same - even signed up for a paypal account. Not luck - no help from chat bot - only it explained the problem. We live at a street in Denmark with a special Danish letter Å and as Disney checks the address connected with credit cards we could not pay as the website do not allow the letter Å. We had to show up and pay at the gate - but we could not get fast pass, so we waited maybe 3 hours in lines. What the F…. Suggest you go to Universal instead much better park.

Value is just not there.

By Jakob P |

I had fairly high expectations since I truly loved Disneyland as a kid. Now, bringing my family with two daughters (4 and 8), I was disappointed. The value is simply not there, and the kids were also put down by the shear mass of people and long waits.

The resort itself is stunning. Beautiful sets and very nice areas. But…
We arrived by car at around 9:30 am. It took 2 hours until we were actually through the entrance. I bought Genie+ to waste less time in lines, since we only had a single day. This allowed to get on approx. three more rides than we would have otherwise.

The food is simply daylight robbery. Expensive and not good. I’d be ok with expensive and good, or cheap and less good. This struck the wrong balance.

Probably won’t ever come back. Even though I had really thought I would.

Corp profits come first

By wally599 |

Disney has been a great family getaway for our family having been there 8 times. However I think the disney corp has adopted a shareholder profit attitude.
There were several rides out of order not just shut down for regular maintenance. They now offer beer and wine and we seen several parents over indulged poor kids that were with them. You now have to buy your ticket then reserve your entrance and if you dont buy a fast pass good luck on getting on a ride. Our ticket price for three days four adults two children one charged adult because she was 10 was $3000

We enjoyed our first visit

By Seven7777 |

This was our first visit, and we were there for 3 days. We've been to Disney World multiple times, and ultimately, we felt this park felt less stressful and more laid back. That said, it's a good idea for you to read through other reviews so you know what you're getting into.
- It is very, very expensive. It's unreasonably expensive. It's unfair to me that so many lower income families will never be able to bring their children to experience Disney because it's just so expensive. If you are trying to go on a budget, just be prepared. Bring all of your own food and drink. Prepare to wait around an hour for each ride if you aren't buying Genie Plus (around $30 per person, per day) and then paying for lightning lanes ON TOP of that (another $40ish per person)
I should note that I am NOT rich, I'm just irresponsible with my money.
- I do agree with all the other reviewers who mentioned cast members were rude. We encountered some really wonderful cast members but man, did we run into some employees with real attitude problems which is not typically how Disney does things. For example, we asked the parking attendant if we could pay for preferred parking, and she said no. She literally said, "No. It doesn't matter. $36." And just refused to sell it to us....
- Most of the food was not good. It really wasn't. We were bummed how much we spent on not good food. I will say I liked the food in DCA more. I'll write that in a separate review, though.
Ultimately, your Disney experience is what you make of it. We still had a good time. If you really love Disney, you probably will, too. If you're used to WDW, you'll probably really enjoy this park.

Overall `Disappointing

By chuckle1973 |

Really Disappointing. Overall we enjoyed our trip as a family to Disney LA, however, I felt that Disney no longer brings the event to you, you have to queue to find it. What I mean by that is there are very few characters walking around, if you want to see any of the disney princess characters, cinderella etc you have to queue. When I visited many years ago there were characters on every corner. I only say one Mickey and Minney the whole day. Just disappointing for $800 for the family. Wouldn't recommend and wouldnt rush back!

By Cin dy |

We did both parks and as a family it is quite possible even with a baby! Only there are far too many breakdowns all day and levels food stands apart from snacks there is nothing... for shows you will be a little disappointed it is much better in Paris!

Good and exhausting trip

A magical place!

By Henrik L |

From the start it's clear that Disney has studied every aspect of how to run a theme park. From the big design to the small details. The Star Wars land, where we spent most of our day, is amazing.

Crowd levels are a game changer though. Check a crowd calendar to find the best day to visit. We managed to attend a day with only a 22% filled park, which allowed us several rides on both Rise of the resistance and Smuggler's run. Both are amazing.

Smuggler's run features a single rider line. Use it. It can greatly decrease your waiting time, we passed line of 30 minutes every time.

On crowded days lines can grow to several hours which makes for a vastly different experience.

The only thing that wasn't great was the character meet & greets, especially the Star Wars characters. They don't have set spots, instead they are roaming the area and on our visit they rarely showed up on time, sometimes not at all. We spent several hours looking for and chasing characters. Some we found, some we didn't. Kylo Ren wasn't keen on posing for a photo, which made my son a bit sad.

Fantastic four has their designated spot, but rotates members on an unknown schedule. To meet them all would mean hanging out in the area for a long time and then try to time your place in the queue to get to the front before the character you're waiting for leaves.

The characters that we actually met though were all amazing. Really friendly, chatted and took their time to have a short conversation.

The Most Stressful Place on Earth.

By ECTraveler |

I really don't know where to even begin. We did both parks over two days. Half of the rides are not in operation, and the ones that are have a 60 minute + wait. The wait just gets longer because corporate greed allows people to pay more and skip the lines. As we waited in a long line for Big Thunder Mountain, I lost count after over 100 people used the lightning pass to go around us. That line finally met up with ours at one point! Then you get to ride a ride for a whole 5 minutes!

Disney needs to drastically limit the amount of people in their parks. You are literally elbow to elbow walking anywhere in the parks - though Adventure Park wasn't nearly as bad as Disneyland. People pushing their way through, rushing to take photos of everything, it's miserable!

I have a bad back, and after walking for an hour or so, I need to sit on a bench with a back. Good luck finding one anywhere. 100,000 people in the park, 20 benches. People were sitting anywhere they could find space, again - terrible!

Everything is overpriced and underdelivered. Lunch at Wine Country in Adventure Park was the best of the group. Lunch and dinner at other places was not worth it. I also didn't bother with any souvenirs.

The firework show at 9:30 in Disneyland was a nightmare too. People start claiming spaces at 7:00. You can try to get yours, but as the time draws nearer, others will huddle around you, push you out of the way, or the park attendants will herd you forward like cattle until you can't move anymore. All that for a disappointing 15 minute show. Walt Disney World did a show that was 20x better, and they had the logistics set up for good spacing of people and views. Definitely won't be coming back, not worth any of the aggravation.

Nice but it takes a lot of patience!

By neopren666 |

Good organization but allow 1 hour between the highway exit and the park entrance. The lines are endless everywhere...

By kaydeesmythe |

Not a good value- even for the family memories. We up purchased for rides and had to wait in line anyway. The lightening pass does not work for all rides. The rides are so short compared to the wait. Be prepared to use the app and learn the rules for booking rides. We spent too much time trying to figure it out and trying to optimize our time. Rip off is the best description of the place.

By nadiaginocchio |

Beautiful return to childhood!!!
It is a small park compared to the one in Orlando. We had to go during the peak season, it was packed with people. It rained the days we went. There aren't that many games for teenagers.
And yet, it is one of the most magical places that exist!
My tips for surviving springbreak are: get to the parking lot an hour/hour and a half early, bring snacks, lunches and water, take out the genie+ and learn how to use it first.
Each one chooses their own route, their favorite games, or shows.
But, wait what you have to wait, and go to Rise of resistance. It is, by far, the best game you will ever upload in your life!
Go back to Star Wars Land at night, it's a flash. Take the opportunity to play games between the night show and closing. There are few people left and there is almost no wait.
And let yourself be enchanted by the children's magic that vibrates at Disneyland!

By Elise N |

I was here in 1997. It was way more fun then. Mostly without the fast pass it's an hour wait or more for very short rides. Much of lots of the rides are filled with AI media and only the visuals are ok. Overall sorta disappointing.

By Michael C |

It really is the happiest place on earth.

We took our 9 & 11 year olds to the park for 5 days. It was the perfect length of time for us. Enough time to see and do so so much yet not feel like we needed to get out and do other things.

Get ready to walk a lot! As there is so many things spread out and get there early. Use the app for checking which times are busiest and just have fun.

Some of our favourite things were;
- Drawing classes at California Adventure
- Meeting all of the characters and getting their autographs.
- Guardians of the Galaxy ride.
- Donald Duck
- Making Light sabres.

Would go back again.

Our family, 2 grandparents, mom,dad and 2 young children, age 6 and 9. visited Disneyland the 2nd week of December. We had breakfast in our hotel, Best Western Stovall Inn. A short walk to the park. The park was very crowded. Long lines for the most popular place rides. We went to both parks over 4 days. The rides did disappoint. We had made dinner reservations for the 4 days. My wife had to use a powered scooter which was hard maneuvering in the crowds. The staff at all the rides were very helpful with my wife. The trip was expensive but we new that going in. It was the crowds that surprised us. One thing my wife and I did was take 50 yr. old menu, from the Blue Bayou that we were given in 1974 on a vist. The manager was surprised to see it. All in all we had a great time and would go again.

By CCgetoutside |

Disneyland is always an incredible experience; nostalgia, entertainment and fun! This time we only did one day and packed it full with all the popular rides. Was pleasantly surprised how much we could fit in!

Same great Disney, new unbelievable prices!

By Daniel A |

It had been a while since we were here last and it’s still the same great magical place. It still brings happiness actually coming here and any Disney for that matter, as we’ve now been to every Disney in the world. And now I can bring my children, but I also realized the new prices and fast pass system and didn’t like it one bit. But it’s Disney, so what can you do, right? As much as I hate the prices, we’ll probably go to the HK Disney this summer, as it’s cheaper and closer for us there. Why will I return despite the prices, it’s been there since as I was a kid, I have fond memories there and my kids love it, but come on Disney, give us a break or at least stop increasing the prices faster than inflation.

So Disappointing .....wasted day, full of let downs and after complaining no reply from Disney ..the Magic has GONE :-(

By Stu H |

Myself & my client both visited Disneyland Park 2 x weeks ago & our entire visit was a day full of disappointment's & let downs

We had both travelled from the UK & had pre-purchased tickets.

We also paid for the additional genie (fast-track pass) to ensure we made best use of our time/only day available.

Myself & My client are 'massive Star Wars fans' so it was clear one of the highlights on our visit was to be visiting the Galaxy Edge & specifically the 'Rise of the Resistance' ride (which looked incredible from the Website)

You can imagine our extreme disappointment upon arrival therefore to discover 'Rise of the Resistance' ride was closed due to a ‘Technical fault’ & no one could confirm when the ride would re-open?

We then decided to try & book a slot on 'genie pass' for later that day, however the App didn’t let us do this due to the ride being closed & when it did re-open 2.5 hours later the queue was over 2 x hours long & no slots were available to book via the genie app for the remainder of the whole day

In fact we tried endlessly to no avail, every time a slot became available, I was kicked off the app each time & told I was too late my slot had gone?

Eventually we gave up entirely being able to go on the 1 x ride we had travelled halfway across the world for, very disappointing!

however Our bad luck was to continue as in addition when we went to ride one of the 'old classics' ..the Pirates of the Caribbean (we also wanted to try) we found that ride also had a technical fault & was closed for a large part of the day, so we weren’t able to ride this?

Finally, we decided to try the Haunted Mansion being a popular ride but also disappointed to discover this was not just temporarily closed due to a technical fault...oh no...this was 'entirely closed indefinitely' due to refurbishment and surrounded by hoarding/scaffolding and cranes and unobtainable.

so basically practically everything we wanted to ride.....was closed/unavailable to us..

eventually after giving up on the genie up...we left and went home ....was a waste

Overall, our entire visit was a massive disappointment that cost nearly $400 for a day for both our tickets (including the genie pass which served no benefit at all) ....add to that another £120 myself and my client paid in return Uber taxi to take us from West Hollywood to Anaheim to visit the part...I am essentially nearly $550.00 dollars out of pocket ....for a truly disappointing day where we we only experienced 2xRides!

...I actually made an official complaint to Disneyland via my original booking upon my return to the UK ...and as of right now (nearly 1 x week later) ...not even a reply / acknowledge of my complaint from Disney at all ...SHAMEFUL!!!

Finally, I would like to point out the day myself and My client visited the Disneyland park was packed full of visitors ..so we cannot be the only ones disappointed but such a let down ...and my mind boggles at how much 'revenue' Disney must have made that day in visitor tickets

once again ...the little man or little woman suffers at the hands of the large revenue churning corporation who seem to be more concerned about making money then delivering good customer service - our voices are clearly not heard?

so tell me Disney what are you going to do about this disastrous visit that cost us a lot of money ..and a journey half way across the world ...only to be met with Disappointment ..and now ...it would appear ....neglectful ignoring of your customers?

Uncle Walt would be turning in his grave, the Magic has truly gone these days it seems:-(

so Sad !!!

we will not be returning at this stage ...ever again !!!

I was sold for dated tickets to disneyland not possible to use in the dates marked. I’m in the awful process of requesting a refund, but have not got an answer yet.
They sell you tickets for use when the park is not granting any more access due to high occupancy. So, guess what happened… no park, but paid tickets. Ohh, almost forgot, also expired tickets now!!

Had Fun!

First time back to Disneyland since Covid and my family was sorely disappointed in the shape the park is in now. Dirty bathrooms, rude cast members, inability to handle the simplest logistics. We took a quick trip to Anaheim to visit the park with our 7 and 4 year old and it was a nightmare.

1st suggestion: Go elsewhere. Disneyland isn't worth the money, even when they're discounting tickets. Especially with young children. Just lower your expectations and go somewhere like Legoland. Much better bang for your buck. And shorter waits, too. My family really wanted to ride the Cars ride and the wait was down to 60 minutes so we decided to go ahead and wait. 15 minutes into the queue the wait was still 60 minutes. We ended up waiting 2 and a half hours. My wife and daughter bailed because she had to go to the bathroom and they didn't even get to ride. Meanwhile we watched as cars full of single riders just marched on by us. When I raised concern to the cast member, they didn't say a word and just walked away. We almost missed dinner, my son missed the parade, daughter didn't even get to ride the ride. Just a complete mess.

2nd suggestion: If you can't escape the Disney mystique, spend the extra money and go to Walt Disney World. Having gone to both in the last few years and experienced them both post-Covid, all of Disney's efforts in parks have clearly been allocated to the Florida resort. If you have to go Disney, save yourself a terrible experience and go to Florida instead.

3rd suggestion: If you're trapped into Disneyland, just expect the worst. Lower your expectations as far as possible. Don't eat dinner inside the resort. That was the biggest mistake we made. We weren't sat for an hour after our reservation time and missed just as much time at the park as if we had left. Cast members didn't even apologize and acted as if they didn't care, until I complained openly. It was pathetic.

4th suggestion: Don't expect the same bubbly, fun, informative, and helpful cast members. Training and hiring has clearly taken a turn for the worst. We had rude cast members at both parks across multiple days. There were a few decent ones but for the most part they were a disaster. And when concerns were raised, I was met with "Ok, whatever" followed by a cast member walking away. We were with friends who have an annual pass and they confirmed that the quality of cast members has declined significantly in the last few years.

Just an awful time. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemies. Please save yourself and go somewhere else, anywhere else. We've been lucky enough to save 2 friends from taking this vacation in the last few weeks and hopefully this review saves you from making the same mistake. Best of luck if you do go!

Purchasing Tickets on Website - NIGHTMARE

By Excursion03871781936 |

I spent over 4 hours trying to get tickets online for Disneyland. Your profile info needs to match your credit card info to the letter. But what they failed to tell you, is that you need to order the basic ticket first, then go back and add on the lightning pass. That is NOT CLEAR as the website allows you to do this but gives you an error when you try to check out. WHAT A FREAKING NIGHTMARE. YOU WOULD THINK DISNEY MAKES ENOUGH MONEY TO MAKE PURCHASING ONLINE TICKETS A BREEZE. OH HECK NO! And to make it worse, using the chat, they offered to hold a reservation for me but the cost would be fluid and based on demand, the price could increase. Seriously??? Ugh!

The unhappiest place on earth

By Elena S |

I would never go again. Disney is prioritizing profit over customer experience. The day we went, we couldn’t even move on the walkways. There is crowded and then there is so crowded the facilities and amenities cannot accommodate and Disney has completely crossed this line. I’m told by customer services that they don’t ever issues refunds but we went for a full day and didn’t ride any more than 3 rides and see two characters and didn’t eat anything because basically everything was a 2 hour minimum wait. Totally unacceptable experience.

Happiest place on earth???ABSOLUTELY

By SDSCLOG |

What else can you say about this place, glad we ticked it off our bucket list. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the whole park was so clean and entrance was very smooth and easy. My kids are 21 and 17 so we did everything we wanted by about 5pm, which was great as it gave us a break then went to see the fireworks at night which were spectacular, highly recommended for all young and old

Disneyland Gouging Ticket Prices even for Seniors and Veterans

By Carlan B |

We attended the theme park with our family and had asked about both Veteran ticket prices and senior ticket prices, as regular prices are very high, almost criminal. We were told to get veteran tickets, try checking the base stationed on. Folks, I am a Vietnam vet and not on any base, so dumb answer on their part. As to a senior discount, that does not exist, they want to gouge everyone equally. We were only going there to watch our kids and grandkids (only because one part of our family went there as a young kid herself, but things have changed) at any rate we wrote the park about our experience, and they finally responded but a canned answer they would 'take our thoughts under advisement'. They would not help us out with any refund, so we as grandparents paid over $300 to just watch our grandkids, not to mention the high food prices that gouge one's wallet as well.

Disney will be the last place we go to ever again, a very, very overpriced place to go and really not worth it. And we say that as very active grandparents, not ones to NOT be active with our family, but we can find much better options to spend less then $300 for two people.

Do NOT go to Star Wars nite as it is not worth it!!!!!!!

By c a |

Paid $370 for son and I to go to Star Wars night. The lines for rides were extremely long and the lines for characters were well over a hour!!! Went to do light saber experience 1.5 hours before and were turned away as it was full! Disney over sold tickets and it was clear from the experience. The greed was evident and it really impacted our experience. Gave feedback to Disney and they did nothing at all! Never again.

Happiest Place on Earth? I think not. Imagine crowds so thick that you literally cannot walk. It’s like being in the middle of a herd all day long. Wait times for rides are unacceptable unless you purchase lightening lanes, which we did. But the act of just getting from one place to another is unbearable. I’ve been going to Disneyland for 55 years now. It has become progressively worse over time. This visit was a Sunday-Tuesday which have traditionally been lighter days, but no longer. For me, the magic is gone. I’m done.

It is the original, probably the best, magical but certainly the most expensive place on earth

By Nathan |

Yes it is very expensive, to get it, to eat, to drink, to buy anything is crazy money but if you plan your day well it can still be magical. Look tbh we only came for Galaxys Edge but managed to get a good feel of what is still a realtively small place so easy to get around.

Arrived 830 due to traffic but parked easy and on the tram in minutes. Had planned to use the monorail but messed that up but it was no issue. Through the gates and both Star Tours and HyperSpace Mountain done by 930. It was season of the force so all Star Wars themed which was great. Up to Batuu and onto the Falcon for 2 rides, and some photos infront of the fast hunk of junk.

Now the queues were starting to build so out with the Genie + and a ride booked for between 12 and 1 whilst we headed to ROTR which has no lightning lane unless you pay $20 each. In good news the ride broke so we got a lighting lane for post lunch.

Talking of lunch we got a package at the Plaza which gave a pass to the reserved viewing area for the parade which made Mrs D very happy. It was pricey, go back to first paragraph. But the chance to sit down for as long as we needed to eat, rest, drink and plan was well worth it. Genie + then said ROTR was back on so we headed up there and once again when we got to the front of the queue the ride broke again (it does break down a lot) so back on Genie + to get another ride in before the parade started 5.30.

Parade done and whilst watching it use Genie + to book Big Thunder Mountain and that was then done before a walk back north to Toon Town where both Mickeys Runaway Railway and Roger Rabbit were both not open, these rides seem to break down alot these days.

Wait for a bit, give up and back to Star Wars land for 2 rides on Rise of the Resistance. WOW WOW WOW worth the entrance fee alone. Ivy built a lightsaber for $250 and I had a Ronto Wrap and time for the fireworks above the spires which is something for Season of the Force which runs for a few months.

Post fireworks the park sort of gets a bit messed up, with paths closed and people walking towards each other, with hindisght should have layed low for a bit longer. Bit of merchadise shopping and then a quick ride on Indianan Jones on a Genie + booking made whilst in Battu.

Right so the positives, lovely and clean, small park but feels big so easy to get around. Never felt too busy, might have got lucky on a weekday post spring break. And Genie + does work if used rights, also remember you get free ride photos, not that many of them do that sort of thing these days which is a shame. And making a big point for time out twice helped get through a 15 hour day, remember we were only there for 1 day so had to make it count.

Negatives are cost, not surpried now that the whole of the USA seems to have doubled in price for most things, but how can most people afford to come here. Also how often the rides break down especially ROTR is not on, it wasted a couple of hours of our time due to this. Battu is not that great, a big shop for Star Wars merchandise with 2 brilliant rides. Hardly see any sequel chracters and when you do they don't stop for photos, and original trilogy fans like me want to see more of our guys not just the First Order. Harry Potter at Universal edges Galaxys Edge IMO.

Also why is there not much if any GALAXY EDGE merchandise on sale here, I want to wear something in the UK that people know I went to Batuu, and not some generic star wars item. All we found was a lanyard, and some pins and magnets but I think Disney needs to stock up on specific black spire stuff. If they had I would have spent more. I even took a walk to the Star Wars shop in Downtown Disney to check I had not missed any merch but they had the usual stuff found in the park too.

Would have liked to have had done the Mark twain boat, Disney Railroad and looked at a bit more on Main Street, but ran out of time that I might have had not waiting for rides that broke down too often.

It is good, not magic or anything like that. The people who think that are living on past good times that might be there but not at this price with these crowds. it is well worth a visit, Genie + essential and I am glad we went just to tick off the Star Wars stuff which was an important part of our trip to the US that was delayed from 2020.

Exceptionally poor and rigid customer service with Disney Ticketing and D23

By TDW_KSW |

Several weeks ago I purchased tickets for the upcoming Disney fan conference in Anaheim, D23. Ticketing was an ordeal, but I was finally successful. After purchasing the D23 tickets, I purchased multi-day park tickets through the Disneyland website.

A few hours later I received an email from D23 offering discounted park tickets. I immediately wrote Disneyland Customer Service, and it took over a week to get a reply--which was to call them.

I did call Disneyland Customer Service and spoke with two different people. I told them that we'd like them to honor the discounted price, which was a difference of perhaps $150-$200 for the two of us for four days.

Disneyland told me:
- D23 and Disneyland are separate entities (last time I checked they're owned by the same company!)
- They couldn't honor the discounted price.
- They couldn't process a refund or credit
- All tickets were nonrefundable (which I knew)

Given the fact that we bought over $4000 of D23 and park tickets, I'm wildly disappointed with the lack of customer service and flexibility.

Disneyland is the original. The park has a quite feel verse the Magic Kingdom. You can imagine Walt walking there.

There are a lot of options for rides. Try the canoes, it offers a unique perspective.

Me and my family were disrespected in the line for the attraction Star Wars Rise of the Resistance, in the Disneyland California.
We stayed for 55 min in the line waiting for the entrance. When we were in front of the entrance, the attraction stoped working.
The Disney announced they were with some troubles and it was temporarily suspended.
I asked for the Disney employee what should I do? And he answered that I could quit and go to the exit or wait to fix. Me and my family waited for extra 30 minutes and it still not working.
Then I asked to the Disney employee if they could give me a fast pass to comeback later, because I was in the line for 1 hr 25min…. He said they couldn’t do nothing… that attraction “broke” many times and that was normal. The only options were quit and go to the exit or wait more time to fix.
This is the way Disney threatens the clients? Where is the “Magic” they always talk about?
I really don’t recommend none of the Disney Parks. There is no “magic” and they threat you no indifference.
Forget Disney!!! Go to other places!

Disneyland and California Adventure Tips, Tricks and Observations

By Les M |

1) Stay Onsite - There are only 3 Disney hotels at DL, compared to what, 30+ at WDW. That means early entry for those staying onsite is FAR MORE EXCLUSIVE than early entry at WDW. Take advantage of it and stay at 1 of the 3 DL resorts. Yes, plenty of "nicer" or "cheaper" hotels are also just a stone throw away from DL, but early entry is critical to minimizing wait times.

2) Rope Drop - If you're ontime for rope drop, you're late! To beat the crowds, you have to be at the front of the pack, meaning you're close to the gates when the park opens. To do that, you have to be at security before it opens, which means you have to be up EARLY. We were up at 5:45 for a 7:30 EA. If you show up at the gate at 7:30, it's going to take you 20+ minutes just to get through the gate! Be sure to make full use of the morning BEFORE the crowds arrive.

3) Lightning Lane Multi Pass - It's pricey because it's worth it. Simple as that. You can reminisce about the good ol' days when FastPass was free and Disney didn't seem to be a remorseless profit machine all you want, but those days are gone forever. ADAPT. I was amazed at how much shorter the LL lines were for DL compared to WDW. AT WDW, you could count on a 15-20 min wait IN THE LLs. At DL, the most we waited for a LL was 10 min and that was for Star Tours (on account of the pre-show, etc.)

4) Technology - Download the Disneyland App and learn how to use it to its full potential BEFORE you leave. Learn how to play the LL game. If you don't know what that means, google it. Because we know how to "play" the LL game, we waited for maybe 5-6 rides in 2 days. The rest of the 30+ rides we rode over 2 days were via LL. Our average wait time was probably less than 10 min. during a Spring Break week! Make sure your tickets are linked to your reservation, make sure your party is all connected. Learn how to use mobile order for dining. If you're just looking at wait times, you're not leveraging the app's capability. Yes, this does mean that you will have to be ON YOUR PHONE ALL DAY at the park.

5) Park Hopper - Disneyland and California Adventure are so close to each other, you'd be crazy not to get park hopper tickets. I don't always get park hopper tickets for WDW because park hopping at WDW can mean an hour out of your day to travel to another park. At DL, you just walk out of 1 park and walk across the plaza to the other! No more than 10 minutes! It's so easy.

6) Dining - Be on top of your 60 day ADR window if you want a prime reservation at Carthay Circle Lounge or Trader Sam's. If you plan to eat at QS restaurants, DINE EARLY. We waited less than 5 min to get our food at Tiana's Palace because we ate at 11am. We ate dinner around 5. SHARE MEALS. Portions are huge at Disney! For our family of 5, we'd order 3-4 things for the table and share... It was always more than enough food.

7) Have a plan - It always mystifies me when I see a review or somebody complains that they spent all this money to go to Disney and it was "too crowded" or "lines were SO long" or "we ONLY got to ride like 4 rides all day". Clearly, these people showed up to the park late, didn't have LLMP and had no idea how to go about their day at the park. PLAN! Figure out what you want to do and google some touring plans online. They work! We rode all of the rides we wanted to - at both parks, some multiple times in just 2 days (not even full days).

8) Be ready to walk - For me, a full day at a theme park is a 30K+ step day. I can be on my feet walking all day. If that's not you, thats ok... You just need to plan and prepare accordingly. Work in breaks, do what's right for you. But make no mistake about it, theme parks are going to put your feet through the ringer. If you're going with Grandma/Grandpa make sure you take into account their fitness/ability to move. Parks are becoming filled with strollers and rascal scooters for this very reason.

9) Expect to spend BIG $$$s - Disney is expensive, the hotels are expensive, flights to CA were expensive. MAKE A BUDGET. Be realistic about your budget - look up food prices, hotel prices, ticket prices. Have an idea of how much you wanna spend on the kiddos when they ask for snacks, stuffies, pins, souvenirs, t-shirts, toys, mickey ears and the like. If you're not careful about the TRUE COST of a disney vacation, it's very easy to sink into the rabbit hole.

10) Rent DVC Points - We would never have ponied up for the rack rate at Grand California Hotel. We could afford it because we rented DVC points. Be prepared to book your resort 10-12 months in advance if you plan on renting points. There are lots of rental sites out there.

Bonus 11) Differences between WDW and DL - We're WDW pros. We've been there 6 times over the past 11-12 years. This was our first trip to Disneyland. If that's you, here are some key differences I noticed:

1) WDW is MUCH bigger. 4 parks+2 water parks at WDW compared to DL/CA.

2) DL has far FEWER hotels. Pixar Place - budget, Disneyland Hotel - moderate, GCH - deluxe

3) Rides unique to Disneyland: The standouts were - Matterhorn, Nemo Submarines, The 4 FantasyLand dark rides

4) Rides that are better than their WDW counterparts: Haunted Mansion, PotC, Indiana Jones Adventure

5) Rides unique to CA: WebSlingers, Incredicoaster and Monsters Inc.

6) Rides at CA that are better than their WDW counterparts: Radiator Springs Racers and Guardians of the Galaxy

7) Downtown Disney is much smaller (and less fun to hang out in) than Disney Springs at WDW

8) LL Lines are MUCH shorter at DL than WDW. The max we waited in a LL was 10 min - absolutely blew me away!!

Happy Planning!

Family Vacation

It was a fun trip and a lot of cool roller coaster, and amazing food. The staff are so nice. If you want to get in the park your need to come early before the park open.

A great place to have fun!

By Jake A |

As always, Disneyland is the BEST! Nothing about this place is ever second rate! I even enjoyed the 70th anniversary stuff they put out this year.

An enjoyable visit to the first ever Disney park!

By KJ |

This was my first visit to the original, first ever Disney park, Disneyland! I had a very enjoyable experience in this park over the 3 days I spent exploring everything the park has to offer! I love how the characters freely roam! There are plenty of delicious dining options and so many fun attractions to enjoy!

It was great to visit during the Halloween season and see everything decorated, it felt so immersive!

I am definitely looking forward to my next visit at Disneyland! I definitely recommend!

I went to Disneyland for my birthday this year with my entire family. The day that I went wasn't very busy and all of the rides I went on had low wait times. Although there were ride closures throughout the evening it didn't matter because the rides would be up in no less than 20 minutes. With my family was my nephew, he gets very rambunctious when surrounded by too many people but today was very accommodating and he was able to stay calm long enough during lines and live performances. In all honesty this was one of the best birthdays I have ever had with how smooth this day went.

By PaulaP1971 |

Horrendous, you could not move due to the amount of people, if I would have had young children with me I would have left.. do Disney realise that families save for years to take kids on the holiday of a lifetime? It is supposed to be a magical experience I would say it was a nightmare.. shame on you Disney for ruining family holidays with allowing to be overcrowded so much

Disneyland Rides Shutdown, BEWARE before spending your money

By 2charris2 |

If you plan to go to Disneyland any time soon, BEWARE. My daughter, my grandsons, and I went on August 6, 2025. Expecting a magical day, instead, we were hit with long lines and ride shutdowns. We waited an hour and a half at Tiana's Bayou Adventure only to be told the ride was shut down, with no information on when it would reopen again. This happened again on Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, and Big Thunder Mountain. Though we were prepared to wait in line, we were not prepared to stand in line and NOT go on the rides. Pirates of the Caribbean didn't have a problem nor did Jungle Cruise. After a day of closure on Haunted Mansion, we were finally able to ride it, but in the middle of the ride, it broke down, leaving us sitting on the ride for 8 minutes. When we got out, they had closed it again. After a long day of riding only two rides, we went to Disneyland's City Hall. No friendly customer service there! Their policy is no refunds, no matter what. Disneyland grosses 20 million dollars EACH DAY. You would think that they would have friendlier customer service, and when their most all their rides break in one day, they would give some sort of refund. No magic here.

Too crowded to be magical

By hm676866 |

Havng visited Disneyland in California 3 times previously, Disneyland Paris twice and Disneyworld Orlando we thought we knew what to expect. We were wrong.
Parking cost at $35 was comparable to other theme parks but even arriving reasonably early in the morning we were parked on the roof in full blaze of the sun - there is no option to choose one of the other multi-storeys with room under cover, you get what Disney decides.
The queue for security and then the tram transport to the park was poorly organised and crowded. There was no shade until you get past security and lots of adults and children were clearly uncomfortable in the heat even well before 11am. There were 3 empty trams waiting so it wasn’t clear why the queues were at a standstill for over an hour with more people constantly joining the crowd.
Entry into the park was however quite easy once we got there and we sailed through the gate no problem.
Getting around though was a challenge as the park was so crowded despite having to book our reservation in advance due to Disney’s limited guest number policy. We struggled to see how it could possibly be limited numbers - you could barely move in the park.
We had Genie + tickets but you can only reserve one ride at once with a delay of 90 mins to reserve a second. Most of the popular rides such as Matterhorn, Indiana Jones and Space Mountain were already booked up to late evening by lunchtime.
You can’t use Genie+ on Star Wars Rise of the Resistance without paying extra which seems a bit of a con (same in the orher park with Cars Radiator Racers) and the wait time nver dipped below 175 minutes all day.
We went on the other 2 Star Wars rides instead Star Tours and Smugglers Run however they are almost identical to each other and a waste of 2 Genie passes.
Pirates of the Caribbean was closed the day we went with no explanation which was hugely disappointing being a favourite ride of ours.
Thunder Mountain, Autopia and Space Mountain were superb as ever. We wanted to do Finding Nemo but the queue was horrendous at 75 mins and Genie+ was all reserved.
We did 8 rides and the monorail in our day and stayed until after the fireworks. Even with the Genie+ the queues were so ridiculously long that it wasn’t possible to do most of what we wanted in a day.
We did notice many rides leaving half full or not running at full capacity- Nemo ride had 4 submarines not being used and only one monorail train was running instead of 2. This all added to the extended waits for guests.
Genie+ includes photo pass pics but the only one we got a picture on all day was Space Mountain.
Food and drink were pricy but we expected that and what we had was more than fine.
Gift shops were hugely disappointing- everything is variations on mouse ears at $34.99 + tax and the same keyrings and soft toys in every shop - where are the character items of old that were so beloved and a proper souvenir ?
We didn’t see a single character walking round all day - they were only on the parades or had to be queued for.
Queue jumping was a huge problem- every ride large groups of Americans (never other nationalities) shoved their way past you in the queue with a “scuse” not even a please or thank you.
Lots of folk also jumping barriers from the standby queue to the lightening lane without Genie + once through the ride entrance. Disney needs lightening pass scanners at each end of the lanes to stop this abuse of the system.
Lots of the ride waiting areas would benefit from outdoor coolers like Universal have and additional shaded zones as the sun was often unbearable. Given the money Disney are clearly making a little customer comfort shouldn’t be too much to ask.
The parades were very good though and fireworks amazing, the park was very clean and well cared for with staff constantly picking up litter and tidying.
It just felt too crowded leaving guests unable to appreciate the rides, the scenery and get around the park in a day like you used to be able to do.

I did not expect to love it

By Northern_Traveler00 |

Been a long time since we've done Disney. Fast Passes were state of the art then. All this Genie+ and Lightning Lane just made us feel that we weren't going to be able to hit most of the rides with "just" a $169 ticket, each, plus parking plus downloading an app on the phone.

Yesterday was a pretty busy day at the park, but we still managed to hit every ride we wanted to, and some an extra ride or two (but not the most famous). The parade is fun, the fireworks are spectacular, and the staff is ridiculously helpful and friendly.

It's crazy expensive and the food just makes it more so but for a very special occasion, I can't not recommend it.

Disneyland ruined my son‘s first birthday

By RAY Q |

The worst place in the world. We paid for nine tickets all of them with lightning passes and didn’t even get in one ride. Disgustingly packed all the employees are so rude and that’s why none of them have smiles their faces. They treat you more like prisoners than customers who bought tickets and the lightning passes are worthless do not buy. With the lighting passes you still have to make an appointment 10 minutes before you go to each ride on the app and still have to wait an hour to get in the ride. We couldn’t even find Mickey or any of the other characters for the three hours that we were there.

The Happiest Place on Earth.... for visitors

By Caroline N |

We were first time visitors to Disneyland on 24th August 2024 (date will be important later). We are loooong time frequent visitors to Disneyworld, so we had lots of comparisons. As we only had one day, we got a one-day park hopper and decided to only do the rides they do not have in Disneyworld. We still didn't get to do everything we wanted to do because it was, of course, very, very busy. We only got to do one ride in California Adventureland (but it was worth it)

The processes were confusingly different to Disneyworld, eg. we couldn't purchase the photopass in advance (and I still don't see how to purchase it online), and were told by the first photographer that it had to be done retroactively (which makes no sense, but no biggie).

The Disneyland app is convenient and relatively easy to use to get around, but again, not as straightforward as the Disneyworld app. You would think it would be the same, but nope.

Of course, we left our Magic Bands at home by accident, so we purchased new ones, which was okay, because this is a new 'generation' of band than the ones we already had. However, from the photographers, to the shop staff, we found most cast members to be quite brusque and not really that friendly. The photographers especially, with one of them in the Star Wars Land being quite annoyed that we had asked for him particularly to take our photos instead of the other photographer (there was no queue, and the two photographers and someone with a broom and dustpan were having a conversation when we got to that spot). The photographer by the Mad Hatter took around 10/12 photos of the Hispanic couple before us with lots of different poses, and only 4 of us, and there was no one in line behind us at the time we started having the photos taken.

The unfriendliness of the cast members was an odd one for us (given that it is 'The Happiest Place on Earth'), but we have to mention two notable exceptions; we have to give HUGE HUGE thank you's to cast members Sabrina and Javier (but particularly Sabrina) who were outside the Haunted Mansion at around 7pm. We thank Sabrina for her amazing friendliness, awesome help and the little something special that she managed to do for us! I am not sure if these messages are forwarded to the cast members but she genuinely changed (added to) our experience of this particular park, and we would like her to know that she made the day more enjoyable for us and we are so grateful to her. The park needs more Sabrinas and Javiers and less unfriendly shop staff and photographers. We enjoyed the day despite the Crabby Cast Members, and we can now say we've done three Disney locations.

The first Disneyland park

The first park created by Walt Disney himself! In addition to the main park there is also Disney California Adventure! Really amazing parks! I got so excited!

Family of 4 with preteens maximized 3 day 1 park a day with LL pass. Rode 55 rides in 3 days

By Kate M |

We had 3 days at Disneyland Jan 13-15, 225 with two kids ages 8 and 10. We rode 55 rides in three days with a single park a day and lightning lane. We say over a dozen characters and ate once a day at the park,

Tickets
🎟️ ⬇️

We had originally booked a good neighbour package and then cancelled due to the fires. We ended up rebooking and still going but staying at a closer hotel.

We had trouble rebooking and spent hours on the phone with Disney. They were helpful but just painful their system gives Canadians postal codes an issue and box numbers for payment.

Because of that we had a few issues at check in each morning as we had reservation dr codes and tickets

Security
☺️⬇️
We checked in to the park each day from the east side gate (Toy Story drop off) and stayed at the Hyatt house hotel 3 blocks south.

We never had to wait more than 3 minutes to go through security. It was definitely slow season. We went for rope drop daily and stayed until 12-1 pm then went back between 6-7 pm

The only issue we had was they took my
Selfie stick the very last day I didn’t even remember I had in there the whole time we went through. You can take coffee and water and snacks into Disney. We did as we went straight 2 hours of rides from 8-10 am without any breaks to maximize the short lines

Food
🍱 ⬇️
We loved the churros, the pretzels were not hot and fresh, we ate at horseshoe and it was ok, we did Mobile pick up snacks into toontown and they were good but 5 mini donuts was$6, we ate in cars land at flos diner and that was the best meal of the time in Disney.

Downtown Disney we ate at the bowling alley and that was really good and reasonable price (shared a pizza and burger) and then we ate offsite at Tony romas (ok) and Cheesecake Factory (great) We picked up some snacks at cvs and 7-11 and target.

lightning Lane
🔥⬇️
We maximized this. We watched a YouTube video on it (just search lighting lane Disneyland and the first guy comes up is Parks guys) and we used his tips. We booked all the rides that broke down and got magical select experience tickets that came in handy later at night when the lines were long and we wanted to ride rides again.

Disneyland
❤️⬇️
We did two days here. Monday and Wednesday. First day we did 16 rides and saw 5 characters.

We did rope drop Monday and went straight to Tomorrowland. Star tours was broken so we got a pass for that walked on astroblasters, then walked on space mountain. We did autopia, no, and bobsleds all before 10
Am. Then we headed over to galaxy and did that area before taking a break until evening. We felt by 1 pm We were hungry, tired and our feet were getting tired (18,000 steps by 1pm!) so we we r back each day until after dinner.

If you don’t do the show at 930 you can walk on rise resistance. We were too tired but used LL for Indiana snd big mountain and a few other rides again.

One tip is to watch those select multi pass tickets from broken rides. If you break down mid ride get a new pass as they are good for almost all but rise resistance. . If you pre book a LL and the ride goes down while you’re waiting you get a select pass which wasn’t good for all. Like Roger rabbit broke down a lot but the select ticket wasn’t good for space mountain or materhorn or Indiana jones.

Indiana jones and space mountain have no LL left by 6 pm I found so make sure to book those earlier.

California Adventure
⬇️😍
We did rope drop daily and had a game plan and quickly pivoted when everyone went to cars in California we decided to do Pixar pier and rode 10 rides in 2 hours.

We ended up doing single passenger to get on cars within 15 minutes at night and then didn’t again when the line was only 20
Minutes. We enjoy webslingers a lot and the girls love goofy flight school (rode it 5 times!) and soarin and symphony swings. My youngest wanted to do incredible as - I screamed the whole time but I survived. The things we do for our kids

We never did guardians of galaxy as we all agreed that wasn’t out jam. Mater was so fun we did twice and of course Ariel is classic and the Ferris wheel, inside out was down for refurbishment.

By Henry F |

It was an unforgettable experience.
Two parks: Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, and a Downtown Disney shopping center.
Many attractions for children of all ages.
In addition to the entrance tickets you need to make reservation to enter the parks.
However, if you have a Disney Agent like Magic with Gustavo you should not worry about doing those procedures.

Best part of our trip to LA as a family

By doctimothy |

We have been to both Disney's now as a family: Orlando and Anaheim. We prefer the Orlando experience overall, but Anaheim holds an advantage in the sense that the Star Wars experience is all-in-one Disney/Anaheim as opposed to a separate park at Orlando. We also felt like the lines were "a little" more manageable in Anaheim. (We did not do California Adventure Park side, so I cannot comment on that. We only spent one day in the park. My wife primarily wanted for our adopted daughter to have a princess experience; it's my last time to do Disney primarily because of the price coupled with the crowds).

Cannot buy Disneyland tickets

By nonieskid |

We’re going to CA in September. I downloaded the app. Bought our tix. Disney vendor refused payment. Tried again. Same result. Called Disneyland. I was told they have a new vendor and it’s on them. I received a call from accounting saying I was good to go. Bought our tix. Printed them out this time. Disney vendor refused our payment. 0/3. Does anybody have the # for Universal?

Magical Disney

Truly Magical

By jackfromjlb |

The lines were long as you would think but the rides are amazing the weather is always great every time I go. It is such a magical place like your in a movie doing what they do in the real Disney movies on the rides.

By Suzy Z |

The waits for the rides were too much, the genie is terrible because you can not book another ride unless you redeemed the current one and you can’t book the rides by your schedule or time, they get to choose the available times. We ended up taking only 3 rides the whole day, we used the genie on one ride and the others we waited for almost one hour or so each time, because the genie’s times were inconvenient. Plus we waited for 45 min on one ride and before reaching the ride they announced that it’s not functioning and after we left the line. They announced that it’s functioning again and we have to wait in line all over again.

Yeah, it's worth it. Here's why.

By Harvey W |

No argument. It's costly, but... it really is worth it. It's an experience. Not a big ride person, but loved the star wars section of the park. Oddly, the food was top notch, not what I expected in a theme park. Best food surpise, the turkey leg. Yeah, the turkey leg was next level. Enjoy!

By Marco P |

I purchased our 3-day Park Hopper with Genie tickets for Disney on Trip Advisor. I emailed a Trip Advisor agent to inquire if it was possible to correct a spelling mistake in a guest's name. Instead of contacting me, Trip Advisor canceled our tickets on the day of our visit without asking if I wanted them canceled. When we arrived at the gate, we were informed that our tickets were not valid. It was embarrassing and humiliating. I had to buy new tickets that cost $900 more and spent the entire day on the phone trying to resolve the situation. This prevented me from fully enjoying the park. I am still waiting for confirmation that I will be refunded the price difference and for the lost day. If Trip Advisor fulfills its promise, I will share my positive experience. However, at the moment, I have nothing but negative things to say about my overall experience.

So so disappointed!

By Jeniffer B |

We have Been going to Disneyland and California adventure for YEARS and ended up being pretty disappointed with yesterday’s trip.
The rides are in the worst state I have ever seen and it's not even close. I have never experienced so many ride closures on a trip before, half of them were closed temporarily and made it really hard to plan our day. It feels like they are keeping them running with rubber bands and duct tape. On top of the constant closures, there are so many little and cosmetic issues with nearly every single ride. Either audio or animatronics not working correctly or removed entirely.
Genie + I'm sure it's been beaten to death already, you litterary have to wait 2+ hours to make reservations on rides, with some asking you to pay Extra on top of genie to access. It’s a scam!

The entertainment was very weak. I saw 3 characters the whole day! 3! Lines were atrocious, if you did the line for the character forget about the rides!
We paid genie + and we went on 5 rides in BOTH parks!
I had to wait 25 min to use the restroom! I was in total shock and so so disappointed.
Never in the many times I’ve been to Disney, have I felt such disappointment, my kids told me they never want to go again.
And of course waited all day to see fireworks only for them to tell us it’s only on the weekends now LOL

Prices have been going up and up and there is less and less "magic" in the park. It's the first time l've ever felt like I wasted my money by going to Disneyland! Save your money and go on the cruise, 10x worth it! Atleast for now!

Disneyland is the LEAST magical place on Earth now!

By GLYNA D |

Disneyland is the most Not magical place on earth. If you want to spend thousands of dollars to be scolded constantly and hearded around like cattle by cast members then this is the place for you. We were long time pass holders in the past and the park has changed. It’s definitely a pay to play atmosphere and there is no quality customer service. Majority of the cast members are rude and impatient. I’m not sure if they have changed their training or their standards are lower but we will never return to Disneyland . If you want a fun experience with great customer service and interactions go to Universal Studios

Fabulous Time - But Also Some Disappointments

By spidernz2017 |

Visited on New Year's Eve so expected both parks to be busy - which they were. We had a fabulous time but were disappointed and rather surprised at the number of rides that just stopped working, either while we were waiting in the queue, or in a couple of cases, while we were actually on the rides. Even the train stopped at a station and everyone was just told to get off and walk. In all cases, no information was given as to what was wrong with the ride and if/when it would re-start. Not what we would have expected from Disneyland - and was disappointing given the huge cost of the tickets at that time of the year (especially for those of us from countries where the exchange rate is terrible). Also was really disappointing to find out that, despite paying extra for lightning passes, we had to pay even more to use them for certain rides - which we really couldn't afford to do as a family of four. Would have been good to have had this highlighted when we purchased the passes.

Disney California

By Lesley K |

We visited both Disney parks in Los Angeles absolutely loved Disneyland especially Star Wars section, completed both Smugglers Run and Rise of the Resistance just WOW !!! The whole park is wonderful but Star Wars was our favourite area, the theming, shows and character interaction are wonderful, booked Savvi's workshop to build light sabers the whole experience from check in and building with the Gatherers made you feel special and VIP all the way. Did not enjoy the California park in the same way The Guardians of the Galaxy ride in this side is very intense, the California Adventure just felt a bit outdated compared to the Disneyland side and not as looked after, would definitely go again.

Biggest Scam On Earth

By Thefamilytraveller |

I’ll start by saying we have always loved Disney, we come every year from New Zealand and have a great time but this year was different.
Entering the parks you straight away are scrambling to book lightening lane attractions, availability goes quickly and by lunchtime the bookings are for late in the evening.
The biggest disappointment was ride reliability, 2 rides broke down with us on them, 2 more broke down during our reservation window, 3 major rides were down at once and we couldn’t use our cancellations for them, in 7 years we haven’t managed to go on 1 ride as it breaks down every time, that’s not a temporary issue, that’s a permanent defect that’s not been fixed. There seemed to be more downtime than availability. The rides are getting tired and unable to be mechanically safe for a full day. Most worryingly was being evacuated from the haunted house, 25 minutes to get us, if there had been a fire we would all be dead, crew openly talking about not knowing what to do, 1 person on an ego trip just shouting ‘I’m in charge’ but not appearing to do much to take charge.
I’m all for safety but you wonder whether the park is safe in the first place when rides can’t go an hour without breaking.

Financial abuse, dangerous crowd size

By Susan C |

My experience with Disney was extremely disappointing to say the least. Customer service is nonexistent. Disney is responsible for financial abuse and negligence. Dangerously overcrowded and expensive. What you get is very long lines, limited food options non respondent customer service.

Still a Magical place but seems to need some TLC

By Mark L |

As part of our 50th birthday tour we spent 2 days in Disneyland. We had been previously before Galaxy's Edge was opened. This was the reason for our return visit and also to enjoy some of the rides we loved the first time around. Galaxy's Edge was amazing and my Daughter and I did the Savi Lightsaber building which was an awesome experience. The only downside was the amount of breakdowns on the rides, it got to the point where we made a joke about it and blamed each other as the unlucky ones who caused it. Pretty much everything we went on broke down, by the end of the two days it was pretty funny. Only disappointing one was the Rise of the Resistance, which we managed to get to with a minimum wait time. Got to board the transport and then made it into the imperial landing bay before the ride died. Was given a pass to get back onto the ride but unfortunately it wasn't back up and running before we left. With the outlay you need to go to Disney, especially when you dollar is crap, it is a shame that so manner of the rides breakdown on a regular basis.

Clean. Organized. Very crowded.

Extremely clean and organized park. Very polite employees. However very crowded. Full for walking and obviously queues. Even buying lightning lane multi pass.

Lightning Lane Is a Complete Rip-Off — Not Worth It

Lightning Lane Is a Complete Rip-Off — Not Worth It

The Lightning Lane system at Disneyland has become one of the most disappointing and misleading parts of the entire experience. It is marketed as a way to save time and access high-demand attractions more efficiently, but in reality, it almost never has availability for the popular rides. Unless you are constantly checking the app at unrealistic hours, you’re left paying extra for something you can’t even use.

We tried several times throughout the day to book attractions and every single one of the main rides showed “no availability” almost immediately. It felt like we had paid a premium for nothing. The system is inconvenient, unpredictable, and clearly oversold beyond its actual capacity.

Disney used to excel at making the experience magical and smooth. Now, the Lightning Lane feels like a cash grab that adds stress instead of convenience. For the price you pay to be in the park, charging extra for a system that doesn’t even work is extremely frustrating and honestly feels dishonest.

I would strongly advise future guests to manage expectations — Lightning Lane is far from what Disney claims it to be, and definitely not worth the cost.

The magic kingdom has lost its magic.

This place is no longer for kids but for old people that need to start acting like grown ass adults. The ratio of kids to obese adults is so so sad. It is like going to some awful comic con convention now, where people are competing to be as weird as possible becuase they can't get attention for doing something useful. Even with paying up for their genie upsell (everything here is an upsell, Mickey cares most about money) getting on rides takes forever. It is just a mass of humanity, crowded as heck We paid up for the genie and you could only use it every five hours for good rides. And I really didn't want to be at this place for more than 5 hours. And it is just no longer affordable for a middle income families. Disney has sold out to old weirdos and has lost its soul, children, all just to maximize near term profits. The whole experience was over priced and low quailty. Food was not great, but priced like it was amazying. We bought ice cream and the staff told us to wait 20 minutes to eat it becasuse it was so frozen (still a rock after 20 minites). Thier staff have also turned into prima donnas, I saw a staff member throw an absoutely fit becuase a customer wasn't listening to him, they all seem very self centered and immature. Disney needs to pay up and start hiring mature adults, that realize the focus should be on the kids not themselves. Some of the star wars stuff was good, but really just simulators that are no longer unique. I have seen similar stuff all over the place. Just not authenitic experniece any more, feels very forced. The customers seem to desperately want this place to be magically, but it ain't, it just a mess. I feel like I was in the emperor with no clothes, one day everyone will realize that place is dumpy.

It's not the same and will probably let you down if you've been before.

We went today and yesterday after six years. It's such a mediocre experience. We didn't buy the LL since we thought we could use single rider. Either everyone caught on, or the crews seemed to be unable to weave us in. They closed the footpath coming from the north to the shorter end of Downtown Disney. On Wednesday, they also had the monorail entrance closed. Since we had Disneyland reserved, we didn't even try the Grand Californian entrance. Security took so long. There were many things that needed repair on the rides. They took away details like the dragon from Fantasmic and Rocket from Galactic Breakout.

Haunted Mansion hard broke and they didn't give any compensation for it. At the end of the night, the cast members screwed up our ride on Star Tours and left the lights on the ride after ten minutes of trying to figure out how to do the things they should have been trained to do. Space Mountain after that seemed unable to figure out how to fill empty seats with single rider. LL is given super priority. No more Fast Pass. All of the fun little hacks are gone. We have no desire to come back. They have made it bare bones, there seems to be few well trained people, and it's so expensive.

They used to make it up to guests when something didn't go as planned, but they obviously no longer care. I'll be posting the same review to BBB. It's trash compared to what they used to be. They clearly have people with no heart and no vision running things. No wonder the entertainment branch I also failing.

If we're going to get an inferior experience, we'll go to Universal. It isn't great thanks to the different levels, but at least your expectations are not severely let down.

The Iconic Disneyland Park

By MinnieM1928 |

We loved the park, it is iconic being the original park and knowing Walt Disney walked around here, you have to love the history along Main Street, looking at all the names of Disney legends on the upper shop windows.
We had five day park hopper tickets for both parks and as we were visiting from the UK and hadn't been for nineteen years this was a special trip for us, we also had photo-pass as part of our ticket and we purchased magic bands which made it so easy to scan for photo's and rides. Because we had five days, we could stroll around and take our time and we didn't have to rush from one thing to another. We enjoyed trying different snacks and treats and enjoyed looking round the shops.
It was Halloween time so the park was decorated for Halloween and we managed to have photo's taken with Mickey and Minnie in their Halloween costumes. The Disneyland Castle is charming, and the park has a special atmosphere. The only negative was the crowds which we expected, but in Adventureland especially, it felt so crowded it was uncomfortable and we tended to avoid this area especially at night.
We loved that the park was open so late, and we could go back to our hotel and come back easily if we needed to.
The area of the park that was so amazing was Galaxy's Edge, just walking into the area is indescribable, the details in the land are spot on, and you are immersed in the Star Wars story and experience. The Storm Troopers patrol the land and we saw Chewbacca and R2D2 and the Mandolorian, roaming around.
The other highlights were being in the park in the evening after dusk, riding Haunted Mansion dressed for Halloween and other iconic rides, meeting characters, and trying great snacks and food. We hope we will be able to come back and we would love to do a trip in December to see the parks dressed for the Christmas Holidays.

For Warsies Only

By Stefan M |

If the park consisted only of the Star Wars part and costed half the admission, this would be a five-star review. But not so. Most of the other rides feel dated. What's worse, you can see the beancounters behind everything, calculating whether they can provide even less content to sell you even more merch. The parade on the day we visited lasted all of three minutes, and there were no fireworks.
Bottom line: If you are really into Star Wars, go for it.
If you are really into Disney, consider Eurodisney, which is much nicer.
If you are in the region and want cool rides, go to Universal.

Truly an enchanted land!

For the 4 of us (2 adults and 2 children, 4 and 11 years old) it was the first time we went to a Disney park (we also received a badge at the entrance in this regard). From the moment we entered the park, we felt that we were in a wonderful, magical place. Compared to any other park we have visited, here you feel that you are entering a different world, that you are entering a story and that you are part of it.
We paid 846 dollars for all 4 (entrance to the Disneyland park with Disney Genie+), and the parking is about 30 dollars more.
The youngest (4 and a half years old), was able to enter 90% of the rides.
Disney Genie+ robs a little of the charm of the park, because you always have to keep an eye on the app and schedule the next ride, but it's worth it, because it reduces the waiting time and you can try more rides.
Good food in restaurants, very friendly staff, clean toilets, quite crowded, fun and good mood everywhere.
The fireworks and the light show are MAGICAL.
The prices in the park's stores are quite high ($30 a ear headband, $110 a sweatshirt, $70 a backpack, etc.).
We can't wait to go to another Disneyland park to enter the magical Disney world again.

Wonderful!

By Wagner Corrêa |

Wonderful park! We went in May r there were practically no queues. A lot of classic attraction that doesn't exist in Orlando, highlighting ToonTown, totally charming. We love it!!!

By Luke T |

A great day out. Depending on when you visit you may be able to do the park in just one day!

When we visited, the queues were minimal even though the park was packed.

Downside was some elements being refurbished or being built which is understandable due to the park being open all year.

Food and drink was reasonably priced also.

Total disappointment. Disneyland and California Experience are nothing close to what they used to be. One reviewer suggested he felt like a credit card for the Disney corporation rather than a customer. That says it all succinctly. One of our party of five had to cancel due to emergency work at a major US airport, but Disney would not refund his 3 day ticket, with Genie service added, more than a week before we were going to arrive. The customer is no longer King at Disneyland, Disneyland Corp. is King. Everything, and I mean everything, is not just overpriced, but horribly overprices. Near $20 for four bottle of tap water called “purified.” Not even spring water. Restaurants serve lots of horrible junk food at absolutely exorbitant prices. We had one lunch at what they might call an upscale restaurant, white cloth napkins and table service, called the Wine Country Trattoria, that I guess you could call fake Italian food. Horrible. Some kind of toast loaded with low grade pesto sauce, $10, that four of us, including kids who love bread, could not finish. I had a shrimp salad that I could not finish because it was so bad. My wife had a tomato salad that was so swamped with salad dressing that it was totally soggy and inedible. Genie pass is hard to use and get benefit from as you are only able to use it for one ride at a time. Disneyland requires a reservation for each day, suggesting they are limiting the number of of people in the park, but midweek, in the last week of June, the park was jammed…overcrowded… with people every day. Wait for any of the popular rides is far too long. Forty-five to NINETY minutes on almost all the popular rides. Ridiculous!! Not even enough bathrooms. Waits in the bathrooms almost every time I used them. This should not be. As a former CEO of a large corporation, I know what service can be and should be. That is no longer visible at Disneyland.

Perhaps the real capper, was a survey I received after our first day at the park. It asked a few clarifying questions and then asked if I was happy with our first day. I said “no” expecting to get some questions on why not, but instead they said the questionnaire was over. That definitely shows how much they care about their guests.

Never again! I have been to Disneyland with our children many times and with our grandchildren, two different families, and was always happy in the past. This stretches back to the sixties and as recently as four years ago. Disney has seemingly forgotten their purpose and how to run what was once a wonderful, fun place to visit.

By neesh |

Overall Disneyland has really gone downhill. The wait times are atrociously long so in order to actually do anything in the park efficiently you have to upgrade for a fee to Genie plus which only allows you one lightning lane per ride per day (previously fast pass that was free) excluding the most popular rides like Star Wars rise of the resistance and Cars where to lightning lane would cost close to $30USD a person. The crowds are out of control which is also confusing because in order to enter the park after you purchase your ticket you must book a park reservation which in theory would mean they are regulating the amount of people in and out to control crowds but in reality they are selling as many tickets as possible and resulting in an insanely packed park. This along with the hiked up prices for mediocre food and just deteriorating quality of the park experience has left me more than wanting. It feels the magic has been replaced by a money hungry Mickey that cares more about a profit than the magic it used to hold.

By YanJing Jiang |

This is the first time to visit Disneyland Park. There are many interesting attractions in it. It has many delicious food and beverages in it, too. Many park staff and visitors help me to find the road to the attractions and teach the way to play the attraction. I really appreciate your favor. The Mickey’s Mix Magic with Projection makes all the visitors amazing at the night. Thank you very much for your service.

Our last visit ever!

By M O |

Extremely expensive for everything. Not enough places to sit and take a break (especial in the shade). The lines were crazy with everyone paying to skip the line with the lightening pass. They need to really rethink that. We paid about 850 for 2 tickets for a 3 day hopper. Had enough after 2 days. Parking is ridiculous. They shuttle you to the park. You are parking for 35.00 a day, you have to walk to the area to take a shuttle. It took us 45 minutes to get to the parking spot. Many popular rides (Its a small world, train, etc were out of commission and to get into the haunted mansion you had to download the app, create an account and set an appointment to ride a ride. A lot of work for a ride. For the holidays, I was EXTEMELY DISAPPOINTRD in the decorations. Not much and all the decorations are old (faded and dirty). They are still using horse drawn carriages. Should be outlawed! My husband used to be a farrier and we know horses! The horses were drooling (thirsty) and overheated. Using animals to pull a heavy carriage with heavy people is ABSOLUTELY NOT OK! That is our last visit!

Disney anaheim

By Jane W |

Avoid Anaheim Disney. The park was simply too busy they let way too many people in. We spent a whole day there and because of the queues did 4 rides. A lot of rides were shut for refurbishment too. A expensive and disappointing experience. We have visited Paris Disney on many occasions and we will be sticking to Paris in the future. We ate outside the park, the food was ok but ridiculously expensive and the staff were keen to get us through the restaurant as quickly as possible to get their tip.

ALL THREE HAD THE TIME OF THEIR LIVES!!!

By Bryan And G |

I sent my partner with his Sister and her Daughter, yesterday. We pre-arranged, and pre-paid for three tickets with Genie Passes, and PARKING PASSES.

As they were driving from San Diego, they left at 5:00 AM, planning to have breakfast at the DISNEYLAND DENNYS.

It worked out perfectly, and they arrived there at 6:30 AM: giving them an hour for a leisurely breakfast. After breakfast, they drove a short distance to the entrance to DISNEYLAND.

It was all very well run, and professional, from then on. From them directing them which spot to park in, to which tram to board.

It was magical from there on out. After they walked in, they were greeted by a small town.

As they walked further, there was a roundabout, with Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse, HOLDING HANDS.

Behind them, was the CASTLE, where they found PRINCESSES, at the end of the day.
It was a FULL DAY, 8 AM to 8 PM, TOTALING
12 HOURS!!!

In total, they probably went on 20 or 25 rides, starting with ITS A SMALL WORLD. I asked which ride was the best, but they really couldn't pick one.

However, there was one with a train and a concert that they liked a lot.

At 3:00 O'Clock, they went to one of the many parades. Moreover, they got an up close and personal viewing.

During the parade, several Cast Members, came up to my niece, acknowledging that she was there for the FIRST TIME!!! It was really special for her.

Nope

By D H |

If you must go and If you are going solo do not buy Genie Plus. 3 of the rides have solo lanes.
Rize in Star Wars area is a separate $ LL cost.
Overpriced. Was able to get into the Blue Bayou and that food was horrible. Their rosemary bread was hard and seemed purchased from a day old bakery. The hurricane ($18) tasted like they forgot the alcohol completely..
I went to Olga’s cantina first $17 per drink-max 2) bc I did buy the Rize pass. Food was much better and the drinks were as well.
The first 2-3 hours were great and then it was overcrowded and the Genie Plus reservations either were much later or became nonexistent. I used it for 2 rides. And def did not spend more $$ for the magic band.
You have to also be tech savvy bc have to view everything on your phone. Dole Whips were order pick up only. Most areas are a reservation or a que. I spent more time on my phone than on any attraction. I bought fuel rods before going and this was def a good idea. There are only a few areas though to exchange them.
They got rid of the making of smaller Star Wars droids with legos but def kept the light sabers and putting together larger droids.
All their $ is going into pins. Nice magnets are a thing of the past. They are a flat cut out now.
I only saw 2 characters the whole day I was there.
Not sure how the reservation to get in has any difference with crowds.
Haunted Mansion was still closed.
When it’s $120+ for admission and there are choices to pay $30 plus $25 to get on the popular rides and the rides break down it does not seem to be worth it. The food in general def not worth the cost.

Our trip to Disneyland, LA.

By Solo2265 |

What more is there to say? Visiting Disneyland has always been our childhood dream, and finally, after more than 50 years of waiting, we made it! Better late than never, right?

We went on a weekday, yet it was understandably crowded. The security check and entrance process were smooth and efficient. We initially bought regular one-park tickets, but seeing the crowds, we opted to add the Lightning Pass. It was a great decision, saving us a lot of time, as we only had one day to explore.

Entering the park, we noticed that the Disney Main Railroad was closed for repairs. We headed down Main Street to the Sleeping Beauty Castle and then to Fantasyland. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Adventureland were absolute highlights! We also visited the Haunted Mansion, where the Virtual Queue was a brilliant option—allowing us to enjoy other attractions while waiting for our spot.

The wind was quite strong that day, making the evening pretty chilly, but thankfully, we brought our sweaters. We managed to experience many classic and fan-favorite attractions, though "It's a Small World" was also closed for refurbishment.

We stayed until 9:30 PM, eagerly waiting for the laser light show since there was no parade or fireworks that night. Still, we enjoyed every second, fulfilling a dream we've held since childhood.

Complete let down

By Kara R |

A complete disappointment! Spent a fortune on tickets and lightening passes only to find out some rides do not work for the lightening pass and we did not realize we should have booked and planned our day the day before. Disney was wonderful the last time we went, but now, we agree we will never go back. Disney should limit lightening passes and it should be like Universal Studios where you do not have to book a time slot......a complete let down after spending so much money!!!! We were able to get on 4 rides the entire day with one breaking down while we were on it. The breaking down happens for sure, but this is not ok to get 4 rides when we spent over $1,000 for a family of 4.

Horrible experience

By Kristi L |

Got it — here’s a revised version reflecting the $4,000 cost:

⭐️ 1-Star Review: $4,000 Wasted — Total Disappointment

We spent over $4,000 for our family to visit Disneyland and California Adventure, including park tickets, Genie+ passes, and accommodations — and it was an absolute waste of money.

Almost every major ride was shut down at some point during the day. We paid extra for Genie+ thinking it would help us skip the lines, but we couldn’t even use it most of the time because the rides weren’t operating. The app kept showing “temporarily closed” over and over again.

On top of that, the staff was rude, unhelpful, and seemed annoyed by guests. There was no communication, no empathy, and certainly no magic.

We came expecting a special experience — instead, we got empty promises, closed attractions, and thousands of dollars down the drain. Disney needs to take accountability for this kind of experience.

Save your money. This is NOT worth it.

Too Crowded so really poor experience.

By Neil R |

Too crowded. Wait times for all things, and crowded nature of firework display at end of evening. Not a patch on Florida in my opinion.

Stay home: not the happiest….

By Bret B |

Just a constant barrage of excuses and upsells that lead to lines and watching people with more money than you get stuff.

Line after line after line. Half the food is lame. More geared to locals who know how to navigate. Not for out of towners. Customer service is a firewall

Park A+, Food D-, Disney's Greed F-

By JRMADA |

We visited during Christmas week and have mixed feelings about our visit. While we absolutely love the parks, most of the rides, the characters, and history of the park, we detest the Disney greed. They demand an arm, a leg, and your first born for ticket cost nowadays, and we feel like they nickel and dime us with the extra fees. We purchased the Lightning Lane Pass for the multiple days we were there and that was a mistake. Definitely not worth it for more than one day and the price just went up another 10+%. The issue is that not all rides are eligible, and then rather than allowing one to plan the whole day in advance and pick all the rides at once, one has to wait 2 hours after picking the first ride and so on. The main Star Wars ride is not eligible BTW, and one has to pay extra on top of the Lightning Lane Pass (the cost is almost as much as the LLP just for one ride). The food is awful no matter which place you pick, and the best place to eat is Starbucks and that is not saying much as it is mediocre at best. The popcorn was burnt, and the only snack worth buying is the churro. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. We remember having far better visits at Disneyland... I'm sure old Walt wouldn't be happy with our experience at the park the lat couple of times we visited. We will visit less often if this greed and lack of better organization continues.

It Really IS The Happiest Place on Earth, Even for Old Girls!

By RexDebi L |

Whoever said "You're never too old for Disneyland" is correct! I celebrated my 66th birthday with my husband right smack in the middle of Main Street and enjoyed all three days! Yep, it was crowded, (Grad night, DCA closed at 9 pm), but isn't that to be expected? There was so much more than just the rides to enjoy! I never tire of Disneyland! As an eternal fan of Mickey Mouse and Goofy, I will be back, (and the sooner the better)!

Disneyland still magical but has some issues.

By Craig |

Slightly mixed feelings writing this review. I have been going to DL since I was a child and always thought of it as a magical place. Its still magical but man, the crowds are immense. I think probably made worse as Haunted Mansion and Splash Mountain were down (soon to be Tiana’s ride) and so having 2 big attractions out would have increased queues elsewhere (note to Disney – don’t take 2 big rides down at once!!).
This time I went with myself and my daughter as a birthday treat (flying from New Zealand) and as we’d come all that way, we paid for Genie plus and also made use of the paid Lightening Lane for Rise of the Resistance. We are pretty fit and experienced and so were able to move quickly throughout the park and with big days (approx. 8.30am to 10.30pm) and so could do approx. 18 rides a day.
Key tips from me:
- Book a Genie plus (fast pass) ride as soon as you enter the park, even if it is for the afternoon, you can book another one in 2 hours time so keep booking them. We found we had a great range of rides lined up for the afternoon and evening. In the meantime, go to the best rides with the smallest queue.
- Unless you want to queue, book Rise of the Resistance first thing (it will already be a time slot for the afternoon)
- Sometimes queues can seem low (e.g. 20 min) but unless you are close when they announce that you can find yourself in a 60-70 minute queue as everyone has rushed to that ride. The reverse is also true so use your judgment as to how long a queue is and don’t be afraid to step out of it. I didn’t come 11,000km to Disney to queue.
- Use single rider where possible – Matterhorn is a good one for that.
- If you can the left-hand side of the Matterhorn ride is (IMO) slightly better that the right,
- For a break and minimal queue times The Mark Twain River boat, Tom Sawyers Island and Davey Crockett Canoes were good value.
- It does quieten down when nighttime fireworks are on and later in the evening (after 10pm)
- Food – use the mobile order system so you can just pick up. Ronto Roasters were great as was the noodle salad at Alien Pizza Planet. You can also take your own snacks and fruit in which saves money and means you can guarantee some healthy food.

A few other observations:
- There are a large number of obese adults on motorized scooters that you have to navigate – I’m sure this isn’t what Walt imagined when he set up the disability pass system, but I understand Disney are reviewing this.
- I found in the evening some teenagers would try to push in front of you in the queue on the pretense that they were looking for their friends/ parents and would therefore just walk up the queue often not even saying excuse me. Sometimes it is obviously BS, and you can call it out – other times I think it was genuine. Likewise, there were always a few large groups of adults who did the same where I think 1 person queued and then the other 6-7-8 would wander up 10-15 minutes later to find their friend. I think quite rude and annoying but hey, you don’t want to get into a fight and won’t let it ruin my vibe.
- The best rides for me were Indiana Jones, Space Mountain, Rise of the Resistance, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Big Thunder (noting Haunted Mansion and Splash Mountain were closed when I was there). Many other great rides and attractions as well.

Still an amazing magical place but it does seem overcrowded.

Too many shut downs = let down

By shelcancun |

Us older folk have a long memory of this park. It didn’t start out so fabulous. It has always been entertaining. But the 80s started the switch to jaw dropping fabulous. The Hyperion shows, the orange blossom Golden Horseshoe show, lion king n Toy Story parades, fantasmic, etc Magical!!! The bar was raised so high by the performance productions that it is nearly impossible for the fabulous new rides to keep up. It feels a little dystopian where we pay more and more to get less and less.
I am sorry for Debbie Downer review. I hate giving 3star to Disneyland parks. It would have been 3.5 without my memory of what it had been. It would have been 4star if several main rides had not been shut down ALL at the same time. 45min into an 80min queue Rise of Resistance broke. So we went to smugglers with everyone else and decided not to go for 65min plus wait that had likely resulted from shutdown of Rise. We decided to try Pirates as wait showed 30min. Struggled through mosh pit created by shutdown of both Indiana Jones and Haunted Mansion. By the time we inched through wait for pirates had obviously been affected….along with jungle cruise. Mansion and Jones were closed about two hrs. One fam member wanted to go on Nemo that was shut down all morning?! This caused lots of trekking back n forth. I wanted to go on Mickey n Minnie’s railway cuz that was the only new rides to from the last time and guess what…that broke as we went to get in line. Sheesh!!! Never experienced sooo many shut downs and breakdowns ever.
We would definitely have made it on more rides if we had lightning lane. We’ve never felt the need to have it b4, but will have to have it IF I ever come back. Likely won’t want to pay the more and more for the less and less. Sorry for young people, but at least they have no reference for how it was. I guess I’m glad our youth still have thousand times better rides and maybe a firework or projection show compared to 60s n 70s. Although we really do gouge them on the price. I’d feel better about the price if not for all the shutdowns and breaks. Just the way it is. I imagine Disney would do better if they could. Happy Trails to all. Recommend lighting lane to ameliorate the repeated torture of 45min wait on the 80min queues that breaks down for several hours etc.

By Richard W |

I am deeply disappointed with Disneyland’s customer service. They failed to accommodate a disability and refused to provide a refund or any adequate solution despite repeated conversations over the past three months. The lack of empathy and proper resolution is appalling, especially from a company like Disney. Don’t waste your money here—if there’s an issue, Disney holds themselves to zero responsibility and hides behind clauses in the small print. Daylight robbery.

Unacceptable 3hr wait times

By Adam F |

First ride we got on for rope drop broke down which took an hour to fix and couldn’t do anything in that time. Next we went on cars radiator springs racers and that started as a 80 minute wait which then turned into a 3 hr lineup. That seems unacceptable to me and incurs they allow too many people in the park per day. Tried resolving issue with front desk with no help given. Wouldn’t come back.

By Mardipp |

We really liked our day in the park.
In comparison to the Disney Parks of Orlando this California is much quieter to do.
Even being July( summer and holidays) we managed to enjoy a lot.
I still managed to return to our hotel to give a rest and return to enjoy the end of the afternoon and the night the park.
We stayed at Hotel Clarion very close to the parks.

Not Worth it Anymore.

I've been coming to Disneyland since I was 5 Beck in the 60s and continued coming once or twice a year into my 50s with my kids!
We went with our granddaughter. It is now a joke!
The lines wore ridiculous! Keep in mind we went in the offseason on a Wednesday! Our poor baby was so tired from the lines she didn't have a great time. How sad!!
In the 70s, to the early 2000s we couldn't wait to come! We always had an epic time! Now if you want a picture with Tigger, Snow White, Jasmine, ect, forget it! If you plan on meeting Mickey it's just impossible now.

Now the prices. For two seniors and a 3 year old meals and souvineers included it was over 2 grand.
Our 7 day Lake Tahoe Vacation was $2500. 00.

If you have money to throw away and the long waits aren't a problem, maybe. If you have 2,3,4 kids, forget it!!!

I have been to Disneyland countless times and twice in the past 6 months. I took my 13 year old for his first time last November and then my son and fiance as well as my sister and her family yesterday. I would at least recommend that you go once. It's an experience for sure. It's expensive for lower quality food but the memories are priceless. Probably got 20,000 steps. Got the lightning pass and wouldn't do it any other way. Perfect weather this time around, bought Mickie ears and a backpack which I absolutely love. Was able to experience this with my nieces and having my fiance there too was special. Our favorite rides were the Millennium Falcon (all of us loved it - and there were 11 of us!) And if you like roller coasters, Thunder Mountain Railroad!

Great to see the wonderful world of Disney come to life from all the books we read and shared. Now we know what a castle is, and a princess looks like, talks like, a pirate walks like, a goofy dance like. Great rides suitable for all family members to enjoy and cherish.

Toooooo expensive for nothing. $250 and I only crossed the turnstyle!

This park has seen better days. It has muted colors, old rides, and overpriced everything. The Rize of the Resistance works every 4th day. There are now a bunch of rides closed for repair, including Space Mountain so check with the park. It was $200 for an adult ticket with the Genie pass (new name escapes me) and half of the rides were greyed out and wouldn't let us reserve! And the food at Disneyland is horrible. The only thing decent is Rontos Burgers in Star Wars land. I went to Disneyland Tokyo and the cost was $50, the employees were so nice and helpful, the food was amazing, the park was immaculate, and it was a thousand degrees and everyone was happy! THAT was the happiest place on Earth. Disneyland needs to start to justify the insane prices $250 when I was done with parking and not even food yet! How about you take some of this money and make better food, paint the entrance, and make it worth your astronomical price tag? When you boil is down, there aren't any rides worth going to anymore.

1955 Original

I thoroughly enjoy my Original Disneyland 1955 in California. I have been to many Disney parks around the world… but there is something about our Original Dream of Walt Disney. Last night was Sweethearts Nite… I wasn’t going to go solo, but ended up going anyway. Disneyland Resort does many special events thru the year.

A magical day at Disneyland park

I missed going to Disneyland last year so I was very excited to ride the newly refurbished Indiana Jones ride. I had a blast. The Tiana's bayou adventure was awesome. Loved riding it and seeing the new theme for the first time. The haunted house was new for me also. Lunch was a success trying the shrimp fusilli at Alien's Pizza Planet. The cast member there was super helpful. I was able to find a clean table right away. It helped that I was there on a Tuesday. Mickey and Minnie's railroad was a treat. Snack was the Vintian Mineral mousse tasted heavenly like a high end dessert at a fancy bakery. Dinner was pulled pork slider plate at Bengal Barbeque where I went every time I'm in the park. The bread roll was great. Wished they toned down the sauce. I missed the Matterhorn ride because it kept breaking down. Cost on a Tuesday in January was $104.

We paid extra for the Tier 2 park hopper pass with lightning lane multi pass. Do not waste your money. We could only book one ride every 1.5 hours, and they do not work on rides such as Radiator Springs or Star Wars.
Disney has decided to pack the park so full that the ride lines are all over an hour wait and even with the lighting lane pass we were only able to ride 4 rides all day. Then one of the rides, Pirates of the Caribbean, broke down and we had to evacuate the ride. It’s understandable that a ride will break once in a while and the staff was very efficient at getting us off but for the kind of money they charge, this should be a rare event.
We will not return, definitely not worth the money.

Nice

It was a nice experience. The lines were not ridiculous long. There was a crowd but very tolerable. Nice time to go and visit.

Can't wait till next time!

We love it here. No words can describe the happiness we feel every time we visit a Disney Park. Everything is accounted for. Great rides, atmosphere, food (even so many plant based options!!) and the crew members are always amazing.

Nickel and Dimed To Death with the added benefit of rude ticket taker. Made our reservations through Disney Travel, with stay at the Disneyland hotel, Hopper tickets and Express lane for rides for a couple and family of 4. A Ridiculous expense for 3 days stay. Upon arriving at the gate the first day our etickets wouldn’t scan. The ticket taker got indignant and asked what I’d done? She was adamant that it was my fault although I had ordered everything through the Disney Travel Agency. Finally went to a different ticket taker and she got it figured out.
On top of that they wanted extra money to use the Express lane for Space Mountain ($30/person). It was 75 minutes standing in the regular line to get into the ride. Food was super expensive for barely acceptable, except a a few nicer restaurants in Downtown Disneyland.

From the moment you walk in, everything feels like a dream come true. The rides are fun for all ages, the shows are spectacular, and the attention to detail in every corner is unbelievable. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is pure joy. A place where both kids and adults can feel the magic.

SAVE THE EVIL QUEEN

By Ho Yeung L |

The Evil Queen is the only Disney villain who consistently creates viral moments and gives guests truly memorable interactions. Making her seasonal would remove one of the most entertaining and iconic characters from the park. Please reconsider and keep her available year-round

Generally not too bad except for a couple of things:
- being asked to leave public unmarked benches so photographers from the resort won’t see us. We are grandparents and need to sit down in order to keep going. There were no signs or warnings.
- people skipping ahead in lightning lines. We paid a good price for the passes and had others without passes skip ahead several times. Also people entering rides through exits was common. Some staff for lines would be good.

All of the Disney promotions on ticket prices to keep attendance up is not only crowding the parks but bringing a different crowd dynamics into the park.

We went twice over two months.

In our May trip, we drove there and parked at the main parking structure. When we arrived at the park tram, the security was power tripping over where each person would line up. Forget questioning the necessity of his role as people would naturally line up in the shortest queue, but he was more inefficient demanding people queue in the lines he told them to go to. There were clear space in the lines behind him and his point of view but won’t get into that. What got me was how rude he was and wouldn’t let anyone line up in the line they chose. I think they need to train their cast members a bit better on remembering where they are.

In our June trip, we decided to stay two nights at Disney Grand California, so we can take advantage of early entry. We left 20 min before rope drop and was greeted by a queue as long as the Peter Pan line to get through security. Clearly most of these people were not staying at grand California but found the loophole on a shorter security line. Unfortunately it sucked all of the time we had and we went in along with the rope drop people. All in, wouldn’t stay at Disney hotels again for early entry if you need to leave the parks before 6:30am to use it…

But that wasn’t the “happiest” experience I had at Disneyland that day. No I’m not talking about the genie LL that causes my whole family to chaotically dart across the park after each ride, when in the pre-Genie past we had some sort of geographic order on how we visited the parks. Great if you’re counting steps. Not so great when those steps are done by little legs (children).

The “happiest” time came at night as the parks got more crowded. I was leading my family through a crowd and I bumped into an “angry dad” in opposite traffic. Before I said excuse me and move to the side, he takes his hand and tries to push through on my chest like he’s opening a door. Shocked and confused, before I can respond, I see this “angry dad” angle his elbow and elbow me in my stomach. I said excuse me!?, and he brushes me off by then moving to the side and huffing away without any apology. Yeah, is this still the Happiest Place!?
