Amazing place, never thought that a place like this could exist, I have seen driftwood locations on the Pacific Ocean, but on this island there is way more driftwood and seems to have been here for a long time.

Perfect place to take a sunrise photo! Just make sure you put on some bug spray. Great beach views and nice places to walk around.

This is such a unique and interesting place to visit. There are no lifeguards and I don’t necessarily recommend swimming in this part of the ocean but it’s a great place to take pictures, have a wedding and simply relax. This was definitely a highlight of our trip.

Very interesting place as is most of Jekyll Island. It isn’t Driftwood per se, it is from the sea encroaching on the land and killing the trees. Still spectacular to see. Be advised, it costs $10 a day to get on the Island.

Very relaxing and peaceful place... The views are wonderful, bring your camera and enjoy just be aware of the mosquitos.

Exquisite and beautiful! We’re both painters and my husband is a photographer….we spent the day on this incredible beach! Highly recommend visiting it!

We were spending a few days at Sea Island and took a trip to Jekyll Island to take in the sights. I left my good camera at the hotel even though I knew we'd be walking on some beaches. After all, a beach is a beach, right?
Driftwood beach is truly unique. Massive trees half buried in the sand at all kinds of angles. A photographer's paradise. It goes on for about 1/2 mile.
Parking is free and it is a short walk on a trail to the beach (maybe 50 meters). It is located just a few miles north of the traffic circle is driftwood beach.

Driftwood Beach is easily accessible and very interesting to see. A excellant sight for all ages to experience.

This place was beautiful and highly recommended for a visit. The driftwood is absolutely gorgeous. There were people here but not so busy you could not enjoy. Not really for hanging out on beach but an awesome place to see. Also pet friendly which was a plus for us

No matter what you are expecting, Driftwood beach will amaze. A beautiful place for a thoughtful walk and lots of photo opportunities.

This beach is a must see. Pictures do no show the true beauty. Scenic views you have to see in person.

We strolled along the beach and were blown away by the shape and size of the trees. Very relaxing and enjoyable afternoon followed by dinner at Tortuga Jack's down the road a bit.

Driftwood Beach is a must when visiting Jekyll Island. So many old trees that have been eroded over time makes for and interesting and thought provoking walk, oh the stories these trees could tell. This is not really a swimming beach as they have placed rocks as a breakwater and the water is very muddy, but it is the perfect beach for a photo shoot or picnic.

Interesting beach with numerous gnarled petrified trees. You won't see anything like this on most beaches. Good place for shells. Don't miss this beach on Jekyll Island.

Amazing beach with lots of washed up trees, hence the name driftwood beach. Looks something out of prehistoric times. Great place to take photos.

This was a cool place to walk and experience this aspect of the island. Lots of people taking photos. Go an hour before sunset to get some cool photos with the sun setting between the trees/root systems on the beach.

Really beautiful beach. It looks like something you would see in a movie. This beach is for walking, taking really beautiful photos, scenery, and it's great in warm or cool weather. This is Not the greatest kind of beach for swimming and tanning.

Awesome! This beach is super unique. We were biking around the island and weren't going to stop but thank goodness we did. There were tons of trees down and great for photos.

Loved the overall vibe of this beach with the many majestic driftwood tree "bones" still standing on the beach. Definitely a place for taking pictures, not too sure about swimming in the water as I'm unsure how far the driftwood trees go out into the ocean. Parking spaces are limited, but a bike trail follows along the beach for those that prefer to access the beach via bike.

Oh my - this is an absolute MUST stop! Honestly the driftwood is beyond description - I've never seen anything like it. Easy walk to the beach, and easy walk on the beach. These huge live oaks and palm trees that are on the shore are nature's artistry at it's most interesting. Definitely worth the trip!!

A different and unique beach loved the driftwood. The trees are very unique , best not to swim in this area watch out for the crocks in the marsh leading up to it, we had no issues but did see them in the water.

Well worth the trip to see this local spot. Great pictures!! It was a cloudy day for us, but I’m sure it would be beautiful as the sunsets too!!

Came here with my Brother to show him this area from Massachusetts. This is my second time here. The first time there were only 3 people here. This time there were a lot of people and 4 wedding parties to get pictures. I hope due to the larger amount of people visiting this place it keeps its beauty and doesn't get destroyed. A lot of people were hanging on the driftwood which they shouldn't do.

This place was a must visit! Awesome experience. Cool spots to climb and explore. Lots of bugs at entrance - bring bug spray. Lots of cool rocks and room for exploring.

Fascinating and almost other-worldly, this beach is a do-it-yourself experience. We went twice: mid-day at low tide and sunset at high tide. Although we encountered greater crowds at sunset, the setting was stunning and we think we got better photos then. Definitely wear comfortable shoes (we didn't try it barefoot). Definitely bring a camera. At low tide, you can walk among MORE of the trees. At high tide, there's less beach to walk on. At sunset the sky made the scene totally amazing. Some people said they were being bitten by mosquitoes at sunset. I didn't have a problem. This is truly exquisite for mature folks who appreciate natural beauty. No shops. No water to drink. No bathrooms. So come when you can take a walk, appreciate the sights, and be amazed!

Beautiful beach with parking along the road and great for pictures. However bugs were awful and we made it 5 minutes before the bites were too much and we left.

Our experience was great at Driftwood Beach. We took our dogs and enjoyed the beauty around us. This is a must visit. Take a long slow walk along the shore line.

Beautiful, yet so odd.
Amazing the trees on the beach look almost petrified
Just really cool
Good and easy acess points to the beach too.

I have been wow’ed! Another Georgia location involving erosion but within a beach. The tide was low today and calming. Perfect place for pictures.

What a beautiful place! Been several times over the years and it is just beautiful. Drift wood trees, shells, sand and wildlife.

Amazing trees that are petrified along the beach. Each one more unique than the next. A short walk from Beachview Road

Beautiful beach! So many unusual pieces of driftwood. We had a fun time exploring the area and taking a dozen pictures. Pretty cool that you can see Saint Simons Island from the shoreline.

A neat part of the island to visit. The trees are really cool to see and make quite a haunting scene. Great spot for pictures and such. Popular locale, parking on both sides of the road. Short walk to the beach

We found this place unique but just a bit eerie. We walked a bit here, but it was not a place we enjoyed; although, it seemed many other people did enjoy it. We did enjoy the view of St. Simon's Island from here.

This spot is unbelievable and a great place for any photographer. You have to time the tides and get there during low tide or the high tide will eliminate the beach.

What a beautiful and unique beach. Driftwood Beach is unlike a y beach we have ever experienced. It's a must see on Jekyll Island GA.

As of April 2021, there is nothing on Driftwood Beach except a tiny little log. The photos on the internet showing all the beautiful silhouettes of upright trees were taken several years ago or they were photo-shopped. As a major attraction for Jekyll Island this was very disappointing. I’ll never go back - the restaurants are forgettable too & pricey.

One of the most beautiful and unique beaches!! Parking availability has been expanded due to popularity.

A beautiful beach if you are looking for a peaceful walk with interesting twisted wood scenery. It amazing what nature can do and this beach reminds you of that.

This is a site to see. The coolest and weirdest looking beach i have ever seen. Hardly anyone on the beach. Seen a dolphin so close to the shore.

A very unique place. I have never seen anything like this before. I can imagine a horror film being shot here at night!

This beach was nice for a quick picture but I actually prefer the area near the town center with the beautiful dunes.

Everyone was very friendly. The trees were just beautiful.Had a great time will return there next year.

It was wonderful being at driftwood beach after 4 years. Seeing one of God's beautiful creations was amazing.

Very cool beach! We only spent 30 minutes here; could've walked around a bit longer but ultimately only so many dead trees to look at. Definitely worth a visit if you're on the island. Kids love it.

Amazing and unique beach!!! Loved every minute! Highly recommend this stop! Lots to see and many walking trails. Kids loved it, they didn’t want to leave

Visited the beach both during full sun light and again at sunset and sunset is definitely much better. The play of light and the contrast between water, sky, twilight and the dead trees are views that is only comparible to that of Namibia in my mind. One of a kind and a must for those into photography.
Excellent visit, recommend. Easy to get to from the road.

I came in the afternoon on my first visit and it was a little busy at the time but who wouldn’t want to visit this beautiful location? I returned the next morning to watch the sunrise. I definitely recommend watching a sunrise here.

We were not disappointed once we arrived. We arrived at about 830am and parking and traffic was easy. Weather was great. Insects were bad!! Have to keep moving to keep bugs from biting. It felt and looked so weird on this beach. Great photo spot for family photos and nature shots. Would have liked to stay longer but couldn't deal with the insects on this day.

This is a unique beach that is well worth a visit to take interesting photos and let kids climb and explore. Driftwood is an understatement. There are full sized drift trees all along this beach. It is easy to reach by car or bike and is a short walk down from the road.

I loved this beach so much that I had fun and played around during our day trip. First off, we went to the historical places and watched a film about the plantation site and that was awesome as well as educating and interesting history to learn. The only thing that could have made it just a little bit better is if the water was just a tad bit prettier, but overall, this beach is currently better than St George Island which is now my 2nd favorite beach only to the any of the Golden Isles of Georgia.

Take a camera- pop in for a pic or sit and play a while. The trees are amazing and become great places to explore for the kids and teens! We went twice- at high and low tides.

One of the most captivating aspects of Driftwood Beach is its close connection to nature. The combination of the rustic driftwood and the stunning coastal scenery creates a harmonious blend that is both soothing and awe-inspiring. The beach is an ideal spot for nature lovers, as it provides an opportunity to immerse oneself in the serene beauty of the surroundings.

Loved the athmophere, took some awesome pics, beach is nice, totally different, saw a lot of turtlenests

Really unique beach. Very interesting spot. Great photo opportunity. Good for those who are able to walk on uneven terrain.

If you are here, you have to go. Simply beautiful sunrise and sunsets. Worth every effort to experience the extraordinary beauty.

Love the sand and the crazy driftwood there. Dogs are allowed too. The breeze was lovely and everyone on the beach seemed to be content walking around.

Beautiful beach. Park alongside the road and walk a short sandy path to the beach. Go late in evening for beautiful colors in the sky. We have visited twice over the years and think it’s very pretty. Don’t miss it.

This place is great at sunrise. It’s actually a beach with old trees, some upturned with their roots exposed, rather than drift wood as such. Get there about 20 minutes before sun rise to get a parking spot. We went in July - definitely take bug spray!

When we visited this beach it was a cool and windy Winter’s Day. There were hoards of people, children, and some dogs. It was difficult to get good pictures as a result of the people. You have to walk quite a ways to have a more solitary experience.

Very interesting beach. Beautiful driftwood. Lots of free parking. Plenty of opportunities to take photos. Highly recommend.

If you come to Jekyll Island, please make time to visit Driftwood Beach. The experience is truly amazing when you see the trees. You can take some great family pictures in the evening.

Driftwood beach on Jekyll Island is an ever-changing landscape especially over the last 5-8 years. At one time, you could walk on this beach and expect to see the same layout. That situation has changed.
It appears those in charge of island maintenance (the island is the property of the State of Georgia as a State Park) now take an active role in cleaning up and rearranging the beach to the point where vast swaths of beach now allow visitors to walk up to the north point of the island. If you're into picture taking, snap photos every time you visit because the beach may look different the next time you visit.Driftwood beach on Jekyll Island is an ever-changing landscape especially over the last 5-8 years. Unique beach experience, especially for a beach in the Southeast. I have seen this type of beach out in the Pacific Northwest but never on the Atlantic side. This beach is not for swimming or sunbathing but to see uprooted and dead trees that litter the beach. Great for black and white pictures and photography.
Beach is at the far northeastern end of the island. Parking spots along the side of the road just pass the Villas beach complex. Short trail over the dunes to the beach. Be careful on the beach as there are pieces of wood sticking out of the sand. Best to wear beach shoes when hiking this beach.

One of the most worthwhile stops on our trip! Beautiful and unique beach! We happened to get here right before sunset and it was so beautiful! There was stunning views (360 degrees). Great for couples or families.

It is a very unique and beautiful setting. We did take many pics and loved biking there from the Jekyll Island Resort. Hope to return!

If you go to Jekyll this is a must. The beach is so pretty and these trees are super cool. Great spot for pictures

I’ve been forever wanting to go to Driftwood Beach and finally got my chance! It felt like walking into another world. It was the most unusually beautiful place I have ever been. The enormous pieces of driftwood and trees on the beach with the ocean in the background was stunning. Really wished we had taken chairs to sit and enjoy the scenery a lot longer. Next time…

If you are in the area, you can park at the pier area and walk down to this beach. Lots of driftwood "trees".... you can also pay to ride horses out here, but we have not done so. Love it!

I am not a beach person, but I loved this beach for its unique landscape. It feels more like a nature preserve than a swimming spot, with little crabs and other critters hanging out in the crevices of the many pieces of driftwood.

We went on a tour on Saint Simons Island that taught us how Driftwood Beach came to be. A tour of led to drive to Jekyll to see it. Do you wish we had brought lunch as this is a beautiful spot to just sit and take it all in.

This is really a hidden gem on Jeckyll Island. A very interesting beach that is very photogenic. A one of kind beach with alot of washed up trees and other interesting things.

Driftwood Beach is stunning - bring your camera! It's like walking through a sculpture garden. If you're looking for a unique experience, one that's pure nature at its most beautiful, then Driftwood Beach should be on your itinerary! *Note that you can only access the beach at low tide, so time your visit with that in mind.*
The only negative I would add is that it's quite difficult to access if you have a physical limitation. This won't be an issue for most visitors, but it's worth noting so you can be prepared if you are differently abled.

Worth the trip out to see. We rode a bike from our hotel and were glad we went. It is really quite a site to see all the driftwood on the beach. Nice walk around and beautiful area to take pictures.

Really enjoyable to walk among all the old huge pieces of driftwood. What shapes and designs crafted by the hand of God

Enjoyed our time on the beach. The old uprooted trees are amazing. We were glad it was pet friendly. Some of the trees were so large and beautiful.

Such an unexpected delight it was to find this beach! I've been to many beaches, but none like this one. A great visual sight awaits you when you visit, as the photos show. Go at the "golden hour" to get some great photos, or just hang out for the day and have a picnic.

It is just a must do. Just look at the pictures. It is so cool. You can ride bikes down to it. There are about three access points from the main road to get to various parts of the beach. Make sure to bring a charged camera, you can take awesome pictures.
It is different at high tide versus low tide.

The atmosphere is really nice and great for taking pictures. You have to go inside Jekyll Island to access it. The admission fee is $10 as of today, and there is no additional charge once you go inside. There are no restrooms around the beach, so be sure to stop by the visitor center or Ocean View Beach Park on your way there.

Driftwood Beach was stunningly beautiful. The large live oaks are weathered and polished by the wind, sea and rain. Every where you look, there is a unique sculpture, perfected by Mother Nature. This is a must see stop if you are visiting Jekyll, St Simons and Brunswick.

We had no idea how COOL this beach was - it is other worldly - what a sight - we are going back again tomorrow!

If you are lucky enough to be here when the tide is out and the sun comes up, you will see a spectacular show by Mother Nature! Don't forget your camera! Just be aware that the dark stuff along the shore that looks like rock, may be super slick mud! Yup, I went down and was covered in it. Managed to cut my finger deep, on a shell filled rock, and bled all the way back to the vehicle. OUCH!

Love the improvements! We have been visiting driftwood beach for 20 years. It’s amazing how every time it’s different and beautiful. Perfect for pictures and teasing curiosity. The improvements are marvelous.

We drove over from st simons on vacation to see this beach and enjoy the day here. Long story short, the beach we saw has been all shored up with huge rocks to prevent erosion I’m guessing. Yes, you can set up chairs and umbrella, but can’t reach the water for swimming purposes. We got back in the car and went to another beach with an actual shore.

We went to this beach twice during our stay. I would recommend using the bike path, as it took us to an area where you could easily walk out to the water. Lots of people were walking up and down the beach, but there weren’t too many people set up with chairs for the day. We didn’t see any restrooms; apparently you had to drive down the road a few minutes.

This was an awesome beach, unlike anything we've seen before. The kids loved climbing on the driftwood and it is a great picture spot.

Visit a sunrise for amazing pictures! We happened to go at low tide and just kept walking and taking pictures. Absolutely beautiful!

Driftwood beach is absolutely stunning, especially early in the morning as the sun is rising. You really cannot beat the view here, and if you're into photography at all you will not be disappointed by the scenery here. The beach, the trees, the dunes, etc. are all very unique to this area and different from every other beach on the island, which was pretty fascinating to me. The island is only about 18 miles long, so I found myself wondering just why and how this stretch is so different. Even the shells that wash ashore were different; more lava rock than not. I definitely recommend giving this a high priority on your sightseeing list for Jekyll.

Very scenic location for photography. Would recommend sunrise if you can make it. Actually for the best sky colors, it would be best to be on the beach and ready to take photos before the sun actually rises. Check the local tide tables because the experience is different for each and dress appropriately. The no see-ums could be problematic at certain times of the year, so be prepared!

Got up early and enjoyed a sunrise visit to this beach. It was not well marked but we found it by making a u-turn which worked out well as the best parking was on the opposite side of the street. Beautiful day and flat beach where you could really walk for a long time - either direction. The scenery was wonderful. Good views of St. Simons Island and lighthouse plus the capsized freighter that was still there in tact. We took our dog - no restrictions here on walking with her and spend a couple of hours enjoying this spot.

This was the coolest place to visit on the island. It was somewhat apocalyptic to see the enormous trees that were almost prehistoric in nature. I would make this a “must see” for anyone coming to the island. Easy access and fairly close parking.

I dislike the artificial, planned vibe of Jekyll, so I've been putting off this visit for years.
Bad idea. Driftwood Beach is GORGEOUS.
Yes, there are bugs an it's crowded, but the scenery is just beautiful. Wear some bug spray and learn how to erase other people from your photos in Lightroom, and you'll have an album you can be proud of.

This beach was difficult to find. It doesn't have a sign located on the road. Once we pinpointed its approximate location on the tour map, we were able to walk on a path from the road to find it. It was well worth the hunting! The driftwood was beautiful and offered so many photographic possibilities.

We arrived mid morning and basically had the beach to ourselves. We walked all the way to the fishing pier. Our dog loved running on the beach and playing in the water. Was able to see the nesting bald eagle way up in one of the pines. The nest is huge!
This is truly a beautiful beach.

What an amazing place - well worth a visit, whether for an hour or a whole day. In all our travels, this stands out and we are so glad we took the time to make the drive to see it. Don’t miss this if you are on Jekyll!

Simply amazing. Pretty neat over all, easy to get to. Take a couple chairs, a couple drinks and enjoy the sunset. Some birds flying around, some crabs. Get creative with your camera and the beach wood! Can be a bit busy, but plenty of room.

The title says it all. Pictures online just don't do this place justice.
I had build this beach up in my mind and, shockingly, it did not disappoint.
There was a good amount of parking along the road, but I never did see a sign, just knew the general area and knew to look for parking along the roadside. It was easy enough to locate based off that information.
I could have spent the whole day here, exploring. Lots of space to spread out, lots of trees to explore. The water is so calm inn this spot.
This is just a must see - it would be at the top of my list for first timers.

It’s amazing but parking and traffic is horrible. You spend an hour plus getting into the area. You have to pay at the hare then you get to actually enter Jekyll island. The beach is all the way past all the condos, hotels and Shoppjng. It felt like forever to get there. The beach is amazing everyone seemed spread out but no one was really swimming.

This beach is like a sculpture garden. It is surrounded by walking trails through the marsh where you can view birds. The beach itself is covered with driftwood of all types most of it very large. Do not collect it!!

Walking on this beach is like walking on the set of a futuristic sci-fi movie. The scenery is breathtakingly spectacular while being oddly peaceful and strange. Yes, the site of this beach is such a juxtaposition. This is a must-see.

Natural collection of uprooted trees that have dried and lay on the beach presenting a unique wonderland for picture taking and relaxing.

We loved this beach. It’s just beautiful how the trees are worn and in the beach. You get a nice view of Brunswick, GA too. Definitely worth a visit and it’s free.

Beautiful spot to visit. The driftwood has an eerie beauty especially at sundown. Great spot for pictures. Cool view of the St. Simon's lighthouse across the sound.

If you're a photographer, this is a cool beach to visit. But to enjoy the water, walk in the shallows, swim, or even just for shelling, its dangerous. At low tide, its loaded with jellyfish. Lots of very large rocks and tree stumps visible at low tide which could seriously injure you if you were in the water at mid or high tide. Shelling was terrible. Infrequent broken shells, most of one species. Maybe it would be better after a storm. I do not recommend it except for a quick photo shoot.

Unusual. One of a kind. Driftwood and trees scattered across the mass beach. A must see. Go at sunrise or sunset...both great.

Driftwood beach is so beautiful and relaxing. It is so peaceful and easy to walk. Great spot to walk and see across the island!

Wow! This beach was unlike any beach I have ever been to. So many unique driftwood pieces. Make sure to check out the marshy area before the beach as we spotted a monk playing.

A great secluded beach with loads of strategically placed driftwood makes this an amazing natural playground for kids to explore.

Love this totally unique place. Quite and beautiful. Very different attraction from the usual beaches. It's not crowded but a beautiful piece of heaven

We went as the tide was going out, and found hundreds of starfish. We went another day an hour later, and there were no starfish to be found, so I'm not sure if we just lucked out or if we happened to be there at the right time.
This beach is great for walking and checking out wildlife. It is not a good for hunting shells or the best choice for swimming
You can swim there, but the water was quite murky. I would be afraid to step on something underneath the water that you can't see.
There's not a ton of signage to identify where it is, but gps got me there fine. There is some walking to get there on sand, not great condition for strollers.

This beach is fascinating. The sight of the driftwood trees is awe inspiring. It is just a short walk from the parking area to the beach. Part of the trail is very sandy which could be an issue for people with mobility challenges.
It was a beautiful day and a lot of people were there. It is really unfortunate that there is graffiti on some of the trees

All though it is not well marked, it is an excellent experience. We made sure not to go on a rainy day. Pictures definitely do not do it justice.

This beach is right off the main road and doesn’t have a sign but it is a must see. So beautiful in its own right with dead trees etc. brings the little kid out of you and also you appreciate the beauty

This was neat! You walk a little path to get to the beach and it is like something out of a movie with these giant pieces of driftwood scattered about. The kids loved exploring around. We got lots of cool pictures.

The beach is full of beached trees and barnacle covered rocks and some old tank parts not sure how old but fun to see. Nice place walk but really your not able to find or gather driftwood. Ocean water has Lots of weird wood fuzz or weird stuff not for swimming. Besides the weirdest ocean water ever, the beach itself is nice

We've seen the photos and made sure to drop by. A short walk from the parking spots with many trees spread out to walk around and to see. Getting to the water is tight due to rocks and boulders, be careful. There is a bike oath at one of the further access points

We rode our bikes here wonderful spot amazing all the driftwood on the beach definitely a go to if you are in the area, definitely worth the visit

I’ve been to hundreds of beaches around the world. This is truly unique! Don’t miss it! Easy to drive and park. Walk as long (or short) as you like.

Such a cool place. Last time it was warmer and the bugs were horrible. Windy and chilly but it was wonderful to walk around and climb. Parking was trough but we rented bikes and rode right up.

Great spot for relaxing, snapping a few photos and walking among all the driftwood. It’s a beautiful beach spot to visit.

A must see sunrise. Get up early and get on the beach long before sunrise. Being on the beach before sunrise. We did sunrise every morning but this one was spectacular

It a very nice little beach close to where I live. It very quiet and relaxing for a nice stroll on the beach with amazing views. Plenty of sea life and animals on land. They were so many horse shoe crabs, smaller crabs and starfish. We did pick them up to look at them, but we put them back where we found them. We could still see the ship that over turned and spoke to me nice people. Over all it was a nice relaxing day.

An almost magical experience. I love beaches and the “bones” at this beach are astonishing. It’s well worth taking 15-20 minutes to stop here.

There are 2 ways to get to this beach. We walked along the beach from the island pier, and took the walk. There is also a place you can part on the rod and just walk back. The trees were beautiful. We were their at sunset.

Driftwood beach is not really a beach. It is on the Atlantic Ocean and has great views of St. Simmons Island, but the driftwood trees are really the attraction.

This is a much see beach! Lots of shells and great sunrise pictures. Went in June 2021. Plan to return one day. There was an * dollar charge to get on the island.

Definitely plan a visit to this one. It was a short walk, but made for a great place to take some photos.

Not your typical beach! Family had fun walking around checking out the amazing driftwood on this beach. The kids and I thought this was the best feeling sand we have ever stuck our toes in. Definitely worth about an hours time (or more, depending on the time of day).

A very interesting place to see the dead trees so close to the ocean. I took some really nice pics. A bit hard to find because it lacks signage.

If you are visiting Jekyll, this is a must do. My family and friends have really enjoyed our entire trip so far.

We tried to time our trip to Driftwood beach at low tide as close to sunset as possible and it was perfect. We actually stopped here twice on the same day and each time was better than the first. The tide was coming in on the last visit which was exactly at sunset.
You could spend hours photographing all the trees. Really quite amazing.

No trip to Georgia would be complete without stopping to admire this magical beach! It’s simply ethereal. No pictures can do it justice. It’s simply something that you have to experience first hand! I expected just to go and snap a few pictures, but we ended up walking further and further because it’s truly heavenly!

Absolutely beautiful beach and the driftwood/trees you see here are amazing. It’s definitely a great spot for pictures. We enjoyed our walk.

Family fun with kids playing with the clay in soil, skim boarding on water and just enjoying the view of 200-400 year old driftwood that spreads out very far along beach. The Driftwood is entire trees that have fallen years ago.

We've visited many times and love this part of Jekyll Is. We noticed a lot has changed, as you can see the road traffic from the beach. They have also added the turtle nesting warnings and roped off where no one walks anyway.

Great photos to be had interesting shape and shadow. Nice place to spend an afternoon at the beach. Get there early for a shady spot back under the trees.

Driftwood Beach is located at the north end of Jekyll Island. The beach gets its name from the huge, dead trees found there. Some of these trees are still upright, others lay strewn across the sand and rocks. The wood has been bleached to grey and white by the elements.
The beach is incredibly scenic and extremely unique. The trees make this location a photographer's paradise. As a bonus, St Simon's island is visible to the north. Driftwood Beach is a must visit location on Jekyll Island.

We wanted to check out Driftwood Beach because it sounded like it was an icon of the island, and we were NOT disappointed. The walk to the beach was short which was nice for our young kids, and walking into the entrance of the beach made our jaws drop. The fallen trees and landscape were so beautiful! The kids loved climbing and exploring.

Don’t miss this beach while you’re on the island, definitely something we’ve never seen before. Great for photos, and to just take a walk, save the other beaches for relaxing swimming and sunbathing

Absolutely gorgeous! A must see, great place for photos. I do suggest gnat spray, most of the time it is fine, but can be very bad at times.

While on Jekyll Island don't miss this! Go at low tide so you can walk around these dead trees up and down on the beach to really get a feel for this strange location. Most unusual place. It is the remains of an old maritime forest.

This is a great place for a walk. The sand is very hard packed. At the start of the area the trees are blown over with very large but shallow root balls. As you get near the north end of the island there are several vertical trees with their exposed roots going straight down into the sand. Great photo ops.

On the northern part of Jekyll Island is the iconic Driftwood Beach. We parked off the road like most others and followed one of several pathways to this beach. On a compacted sand beach for a long way are endless toppled and solidified tree trunks. It makes for some interesting photos of various twisting and turning trunks and limbs. It’s also a popular natural playscape for climbing and hanging on to. In the distance, the south shore of St Simons Island and its lighthouse is visible. Some people just hang out here for the entire day, just catching some rays. It’s worth a visit here.

Definitely glad we checked this out as we drove around the island. A short walk from the main road and parking, It is a unique and visually dramatic spot.

Beautiful beach to visit! It was busy when we were there but still plenty of room to explore. Easy to get to and then go to Tortuga Jacks on the way home for some good food and great atmosphere!

Driftwood beach is truly a pretty, pretty place for those of us who do not particularly care for just boring sand. Highly recommend it and kids particularly find it majical.

Interesting beach with many, many dead trees and driftwood, that have been preserved by taking up saltwater. A short hike from the road.

We did not understand the fascination with this spot. We found it spooky and eerie. We do not understand why it is considered romantic.

Really unique beach with driftwood everywhere! People were using the driftwood to hang up towels and backpacks. Great picture backgrounds.

This is a must see when visiting Jeckyll Island. It’s a short walk from the road to the beach and well worth it. It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before.

Amazing natural views of God’s creation on display here. Sunrises are hard to put into words and pictures don’t do the scenery justice. Make sure to put on insect repellent before hitting the beach.

We had seen Driftwood Beach on the Georgia PBS TV station and we were not disappointed. We would definitely recommend anyone to visit.

Several people at the beach Christmas Eve 2021. Some people were net fishing. So much driftwood that the walk was shortened because we couldn't get past it. Nature's way!

The five stars is given because it is a unique natural beauty. Great for photographers, picnics and family outings. I would not suggest swimming or fishing in the immediate area due to unseen debris from the trees that lay in the shoreline. With that being said if you enjoy nature you should check this place out.

Driftwood Beach in my opinion is the most beautiful and natural place on an island full of beautiful, natural places.

This beach is uniquely beautiful and one you don’t want to miss. Our entire family, ages 4-70, enjoyed it. Lots of room to run, climb, and play with marvelous photo ops.

Prettiest beach on the island. Great for walking but not for swimming. A must see for those who love a scenic walk on the beach.

Unbelievable, unique experience. The beach is beautiful; lined with dead trees that give the beach an amazing look. It’s really something that should be in everyone’s must see list.
We walked the beach in shoes looking at so many trees. It not a beach you’d go to sit on the beach or swim for a while.

We circled the island the first afternoon when we arrived, and again the morning of our departure. This is defiantly one place you want to stop, especially in the morning when it is not crowded, and the sunlight is great for pictures.

Looking at the trees especially the root systems which you normally don't see. It is a fascinating place

This is an amazing beach to go to at anytime of day. It is spectacular though at sunrise. The views of the sunrise through the driftwood is awesome!!

Just happened upon this beach by accident and it did not disappoint. Very short walk to the beach and you cannot even imagine the driftwood. I don’t want to spoil it but have to say , please be kind to the driftwood and the environment here

Never bitten by a bug like this before. Worst bug bite I experienced. It itch for days. I wish there is signage to warn you before you get to the beach because this is not just a simple bug bite. It stays for days.

While not the best beach on the island, the dead trees create a serene and unique atmosphere.
Located at the north end of the island, it is the perfect place to take in a sunrise or sunset.

What an amazing place to visit! When our daughter said she wanted to take us to see Driftwood Beach, I pictured it as a nice beach with some pieces of drift wood strewn about. What a suprise to walk on to the beach and see miles of actual dead trees that had become weathered, some uprooted, and battered by erotion over many years. It was almost unearthly to see the beauty and stark contrast to all the lush growth on the rest of the island. It's a great place for a photo op. Apparently the access to the beach is dependent on the tides, so check the timing of high and low tides before visiting it. Highly recommend this on your visit to Jykell Island.

The beach itself is nice but the trees and driftwood that dot the beach make the beach one of a kind and a really cool spot to visit. It’s 8 dollars to get onto the island and the beach is towards the end of it. There is ample parking and a short walk to get to the beach. There are hundreds of trees and pieces of driftwood dotting the beach and it makes for some really cool photography.

Live in Ga and have been there many time. Beautiful beach but not good for swimming as water usually dark and dirty. Also good for walking.

One of the most beautiful and unique spots on the East Coast of the US. Great spot for pictures and to look for shells, crabs, etc. Best of all, it's free!

We visited this beach and loved it ! It is definitely not for swimming but it's such a unique experience. There is so much to explore on this beach. It is also very picturesque. I would highly recommend check it out .

This is a must see if going to Jekyll Island. We got there at low tide which exposed much of the driftwood. We were able to get some incredible pictures of the large pieces of driftwood that we are having enlarged and framed for our home.

An absolute amazing ,unbelievable place to visit.
Describing it does not do it justice.
One of the oddest, coolest places I've ever been.
A must see if in the area

A photographers dream. Simply Awesome place. A weird kind of beauty not found anywhere else. Took plenty of photo's and had a great time. None on this computer or I'd post a few. 100's of great photo's on goggle
It's on our plans to take family there this March

Very beautiful to visit, not sure I would set up here for spending all day on the beach but it was a great place to visit and walk around.

Interesting and unique place to visit… Lots of tourists when we went… Not a place I would recommend for just sunny and relaxing

This was an amazing place to visit on a beautiful island. There is a huge amount of driftwood here. My kids had a blast wandering around the beach and climbing on the massive pieces of driftwood. There is parking along the road near driftwood beach. When you enter the island you can make a left and head toward Driftwood Beach. Some people road bikes up here using the trails around the island. We thought about doing this, but we were glad we drove when we saw the distance. We did rent bikes and ride around the island trails, but I was glad we didn't take them up to Driftwood Beach. The only negatives about this beach is the water seemed dirty. there was weird stuff near the water. So I don't think I would plan on swimming here. We actually went to Oceanview Beach. They had good bathrooms. Across the street was a pizza place and bike rental as well. The other negative is the bugs. We didn't see many at first, but after we were there for about an hour they started coming out and biting like crazy. Neat place to visit and its not too far off of i95.

This is a beautiful beach. I wouldn't recommend swimming in the ocean here as the water is very dark and "dirty" and there are lots of critters on the rocks and shore. It's very rocky and there are lots of shell pieces. However the driftwood is gorgeous. I would recommend this beach for taking a stroll, bike riding or simply sitting and relaxing.

Stopped on our way home. Very cool place. Fun spot for pics. Plan on maybe an hour at the most. You can bring chairs but not much shade. Bring a few bottles of water.

Great place to visit and a must do for visitors to Jekyll.
Amazing place to take photographs and to see the sunset

A visit to this unique beach is a must when you visit Jekyll Island area. The skeletons of dozens of live oak trees are lying all over the beach. The last hurricane in the area helped to add more trees and beach. Bring your camera . You'll want lots of photos!

Such a cool place to visit!!! Great place for photos! It was a foggy day when we went, but it was still awesome!

We went twice. Once during high tide and second during low tide. It was so cool seeing and comparing both with many pics. I loved exploring.

This was neat to see. I thought there was only a few pieces of driftwood on a beach, but no...there were tons.
Enjoy,...fun to take a pic.

We pulled into the Villas by the Sea Resort, drove to the back near the ocean and parked. We walked out on their boardwalk and looked to our left to see Driftwood Beach in the distance. There are further/closer turn offs for that beach but the walking distance seemed far and we were not prepared/dressed properly to hike the beach that day in the heat of the afternoon-we also live where the #2 US and #14 in the world beach is so the actual beach was of no interest.
The driftwood that we could see was very cool and worth the drive to the northern area of Jekyll Island!
*first photo is view of St.Simons lighthouse and shoreline from Driftwood Beach

This beach will not disappoint. A turtle had payed eggs the night before so we got to experience them surveying the site.

Walked along the beach filled with driftwood and lots of birds. Not beach I would plan to sorbs the day at but very interesting to see.

Beautiful beach. The trees are so interesting. Amazing how the trees have lasted in the water daily.

This is such a beautiful, unique and magical place. My kids were going tree to tree, imagining each one was their secret lair. If you look at the trees closely, you can see all kinds of art-like designs in their branches and trunks. Seeing the dry root systems was so cool. There was a big stump that had a ton of little sea creatures living in it. Driftwood Beach is a great place for photos. I wish I could have been there at sunset; I'm sure it is so beautiful! Everyone in my family loved it here. (If you are looking for a beach to swim, I wouldn't go here. It is amazing for the experience though and there are plenty of other close beaches on Jekyll Island for swimming!)

This beach is definitely different! It’s a rugged beach that’s very rocky and most of the surrounding vegetation is dead here. The mangled trees look Apocalyptic and out of place with the surrounding beaches just to the north and to the south of this specific stretch of eery looking beach. The beach is about a mile long I’m guessing. I believe several movies have been filmed here because of the way the beach scenery appears to be almost scary in appearance. It’s fun to visit here though! There’s lots of free roadside parking. There is not a welcome center here, and there are no concessions here. You just park, walk the short trails leading to the beach and enjoy the odd way that mother nature has created this very special beach. Pets are allowed to walk with you. This is a beach unlike any other beach that you’ll ever visit in your life! I’d strongly recommend going here for the eccentric appearance if for no other reason than to say you’ve been here! You will never forget it!

An unusual beach of mostly intact driftwood wood trees along the beach. I think going at low tide is the ideal time. Very popular beach for weddings etc.

All I can say is simply amazing! To see such beautiful large trees - driftwood standing in the water and near the water was breathtaking. This is a must visit location when on Jekyll Island - relaxing and so beautiful.

Go 30 minutes before sunrise and watch the shadows and sky change! Beautiful pictures! Fun to explore.

A must see at least once. We parked at the pier and walked. The sand is easy to walk on. The driftwood on the beach is so beautiful! I’ve never seen pine trees on the beach before.

We arrived in the afternoon at low tide and this beach was amazing. The dead trees are fabulous, sticking up out of the sand and laying all over the beach. Great picture opportunities. Not too crowded. A unique beach not to be missed. Would have loved to be there at sunrise or sunset during a low tide.

Super cool apocalyptic kind of vibe, photographers paradise. I have never seen anything like it. The most interesting thing on the island.

Went at sunrise and sunset. Found some beautiful shells at low tide. This is a place you have experience! Check the tide schedules before you go.

Great for photos. Went at sunset as advised. Even with bug wipes was eaten alive. I would not swim there. The beach is full of debris and the sand seems to have mud in it. But yes, did get great pictures and saw the largest flock of egrets I’ve ever seen in the adjacent marsh. If I ever return I will wear permethrin-treated clothing head to toe. The bugs even attacked my scalp. They bit me up my skirt to the edges of my underwear!

On the northern part of island. This beach has an amazing collection of large , and many intact, driftwood trees. It’s an eye- catching site. There are a couple different Entrances from the main road and plenty of areas to park your bike (it’s a good idea to bring a bike lock).

We rode our bikes here wonderful spot amazing all the driftwood on the beach definitely a go to if you are in the area

Went to Driftwood beach and walked from fishing pier/park all the way down and back. Was at low tide do that made ot even better. Surreal and photogenic scenes.

Great interesting to see beach. Great picture taking spot. Short walk from parking area. Very easy to get to and of course the water. Wait till low tide as high tide comes up to where there is no beach.

We learned that the downed trees here aren't actually driftwood. It's from storms. Beautiful beach and a ton of photo ops here. LOADS of rocks so it's probably not the best for swimming but we saw a load of kids digging up shells and there are a TON of shells. It's a short walk through the woods to get there and then the beach is just breathtaking. You'll love it. I promise.

Views are amazing in this unique setting. ample parking and only a short walk to the beach. Very haunting and beautiful at the same time.

Driftwood beach is not just a name. It is a spectacular scene of sand and surg, sky and downed uprated trees. Easily walkable, it of full of phot ops. Aim for low tide when the most driftwood is visible. Driftwood Beach is a not to be missed Jekyll Island nature site.

Visiting Driftwood Beach was one of the highlights of our trip to the Golden Isles! It's like nothing we had ever seen before and we enjoyed wandering among the trees from one end of the beach to the other. Definitely a must see!

Very unique beach and well worth the trip. I saw Driftwood Beach in a movie and thought it was fake. When I found out it actually exists I wanted to go visit. My husband and I walked around for a couple of hours and took many photos. I’d recommend if you are in the area.

We read about this beach and started our brief visit at Jekyll here. It is really amazing and worth a stop.

Because I didn't use GPS on my first attempt, I drove past the parking area and missed it, and waited until the next day to be sure and go during low tide. What an experience like nothing I've seen before. Just a short walk from the parking area to the beach. So glad I made a second attempt to visit this amazing site.

Beautiful beach !!! Do not miss when you go to Jekyll Island. Nothing but miles of beautiful driftwood on the whole beach.

This was an amazing off the beaten trip experience. Pictures don’t do it justice. There’s no bathrooms, so stop before coming to this beach.

Go at low tide, then go back again at high tide, it's a different experience. Don't go on the dunes, there are some serious diamondback rattlers living there.

This is an interesting beach with the many remains of oak trees taken down by beach erosion. The trees have been down long enough to become weathered into a driftwood appearance. Kind of sad to see what were once majestic trees taken down. But, a poignant reminder of the force of nature.

Driftwood Beach is a unique beac of downed and worn oak trees. The oak trees are being claimed by the ocean. I have never been to a beach quite like Driftwood Beach. Recommend a visit to a unique beach in America!

Loved walking on Driftwood Beach. It was a cool, cloudy day but that did not distract from its beauty. Lots of really cool trees growing out of the sand and massive pieces of driftwood. Almost an other worldly place.

We biked here in the evening and the light was amazing! Our family enjoyed exploring the various skeletal trees. Great pictures.

Take an entire day, not just the afternoon, and sightsee the entire island. Plan a ride on the dolphin cruise, which I will do the next time I'm there.
The best $8.00 I've spent for entrance to the island is a full day pass.
The best $10.00 I spent was seeing the sea turtles hospital. 11 turtles were in for rehabilitation...only one will not be able to be released back to the sea...a propeller of a boat cut into her middle shell and paralyzed her lower half, no use of her lower legs.
She will be adopted out to an aquarium inland for living out the rest of her life.
A lecture and labels to understand these turtles are given different hours of the day.
Very informative and questions and answers at the end of the tour.
Some turtles are flown in from other areas...one from Chesapeake is a patient. Huge female ...with a mirror over her pool allows you to see all her movements in the water.
Driftwood Beach is a very different beach...NO driftwood logs or pieces are to be taken. Good place to see huge trees that have turned to driftwood by Mother Nature.
Eating places, resort areas, and if you go at Christmas season, lots of lights, shops. The buildings here are very very old with rich history. This was a vacation home for several well known wealthy people...Rockefeller, etc.

One of the most beautiful and unique beaches I been. The trees are so beautiful. Not to crowded. Definitely a must if you are in the area

If you’ve never experienced Driftwood Beach you should. It is definitely something that you should see and experience once in a lifetime.

Very artistic and interesting beach. Enjoying looking at and taking pictures of the trees along the beach.

Love this place. It’s just so freakin cool a photographers dream and a great place to capture memories.
I’ve been here 3 times now and I as well as the people who brought here have enjoyed it very much. It’s a bit like being on another planet (I’m guessing) - kind of erie and all but very cool for sure. I’ve not been here for a sun raise or sunset but can only guess it’s spectacular

This beach is really just dead trees everywhere, not driftwood. We went on a bike ride and it's a very odd place. It's a nice bike ride back to it, though.

Unbelievable place to take pictures. I have told everyone about it since we left. Bring you camera for sure. It's not a beach for swimming.

This is a must see while in Jekyll Island! Beautiful and unique beach, and a great spot for photos. Took us a bit to find it though. Head to the north side of the island and when you start to see vehiles parked along the roadside, you’ve found it. A short walk and the beauty awaits. Don’t miss this.

You've seen the photos. This place is even cooler in person. It's one of two "must see" places on the island (the other being the historic Jekyll Island Resort)

Driftwood beach is truely beautiful. The grandkids really loved walking alone the beach in the surf and collecting shells.

Very nice place. We really enjoyed visiting Driftwood Beach. It's a great place to take family photos.

For us, about the most interesting thing on our visit to the Golden Isles. Easy access to a beach covered with huge trees and logs of driftwood. One of the few things that lived up to its hype on this trip. After paying our $8 day fee to gain access to the island, we drove around a bit and tried to determine what was so "valuable" - we stopped here and walked out to the beach. Not sure it justified the cost or the drive out, but certainly interesting and a fun site.

Plenty of walking areas on the beach with is just beautiful. Almost a haunting kind of place with all the drift wood and trees scattered on the beach. Well worth the visit.

Took a 4 day trip to Jekyll Island and this beach was amazing, perfect for midnight strolls (with bugl spray) also beautiful proposal spot thank you for the memories

As an avid photographer, one of my favorite places to go on the Georgia Coast, is Driftwood Beach. It is located on Jekyll Island, Georgia, at the NE corner of the island. Because it is a distance from the main beach parking lot, this place is usually never very crowded, even on holidays like this past Memorial Day Weekend.
There are three main attractions in the area. The fishing pier for the island is located here. There is a beautiful marsh like swamp nearby, which when it is hit correctly by the sun, creates some beautiful color. Lastly there is a Driftwood Beach. Which is a beach that has lots of petrified looking driftwood on it. Oh there's also a horse rental stable nearby, so that you can ride a horse along the beach...
The location also is a good spot at the moment for watching the demolition of the Golden Ray, the car carrier, which sunk in the channel leading out to the ocean.
Parking- You only have to pay an $8 parking fee to get on the island, after that you can park almost anywhere. Driftwood Beach, however, does not have a lot of parking. So you should get there early if you can. Otherwise, you have to park out on the main road and walk on down to the beach.
Note-The bathroom facility at Driftwood Beach was 'closed' this past weekend. However, there is a campground across the main road and you are allowed to use their facilities.
Summary- Looking for a quiet beach where you can walk a short distance and pretty much have that part of the beach to yourself? Then head on over to Driftwood Beach. It's quirky driftwood art will surprise you.

Parking can be a bit difficult to find Bc the parking is on the side of the roads.
They actually have parallel parking and some places around there with sand/grass near the areas of the road where we can park.
Just make sure to navigate there with a device and just drive around there and you can see how the parking is. From there it is very easy and just add the small walk there.
Some tips: bring long pants, bug spray, be hydrated(ALWAYS)

This beach is so beautiful in a desolate, other worldly kind of way.
Great way to spend an hour or two.

My husband and I decided to escape for a few days to a place we'd never been. I chose Jekyll Island because I wanted to see Driftwood Beach. So glad we did. Going back tomorrow with our dogs!

We went at sunset. Free limited parking on the side of the road at different points and well kept walkways through the palm fronds & trees all the way to the beach. There was only one other family there when we arrived. Visitors & locals are encouraged to use flashlights that are safe for the turtles. It was high tide and we were all wearing either water friendly close toed shoes or flip flops. Both stayed put as this is not a beach with aggressive waves. I’d definitely put closed toed shoes on the kids, especially if they are exploring through the branch areas. Also, with the tide being so high, there were many dips in the sand surface that you won’t see and could definitely be caught off guard (& fall). If you go at night, make sure you mark ( remember) which trail you came in on so that it’s easy to make your way back to your car. We didn’t do that and walked up too far and had to walk back further to our car. Good thing this island has wide bike trails everywhere so we felt safe walking beside the roadway at night. Our dog loves water and had a great time at high tide too! Keep a lookout for the lighthouse across the way and you also may see some professional fishing boats with lights!

This is the oddest beach we've ever visited. It looks kinda out of place with the rest of Jekyll Island. Just before getting to this location there are residential neighborhoods both north and south of here. In a word, the beach appears to be both beautiful, in its own way, and Apocalyptic at the same time. It's truly different! The St Simons Lighthouse is just across the bay from here. There is lots of side of the road parking. The beach is about a mile or more long. There are no retail businesses around the beach for refreshments. The beach is haunting in a way!

Lovely spring day when we walked in to this beach. (Unmarked, near the northeast tip of the island - ask the locals.) Parking free alongside the road. Hundreds of busy little land crabs at work under the sandy path and in surrounding marsh. Walk from road to beach is easy and short. The beach is very cool. Over the years, the beach has eroded leaving behind trees that have turned to "driftwood". All long the beach, these trees create endless photo opportunities and also many little semi-private nooks for laying down your beach towel. Beach is flat and hard therefore bike-able. Very pretty spot.

Amazing views best at sunrise &10 per car to get in easy parking water was cold highly recommend no restroom on site dog friendly

I wanted to take a drive from Amelia Island. We 4 women drove there. You do have to walk aways on a path to get to the beach. The other 3 ladies had no idea what to expect!! We were ALL AMAZED!! It’s just mind boggling how gorgeous and beautiful this beach area is!! The pictures don’t do it justice!! We were there for an hour just walking around and looking at the sea, the dunes, the skeletons of the trees!! Wow! Wow! Wow!!

Cool beach like none other. Come at the end of your day to relax ( bottle of wine is nice to bring along) and enjoy the quiet and cool atmosphere. Have been to many beaches around the world and this is pretty cool!

We thought that "Driftwood Beach" meant driftwood. Not so. It is a collection of enormous trees (live oaks?) whose soil has been claimed by the sea and are mere skeletons. Definitely worth a stop, although the beach area further from the fishing pier is the best.

Driftwood Beach is a must see. Very unique and beautiful in its own way. Many access points along the road. This beach allows dogs as long as they are leashed.

""Leave the roads; take the trails." - Pythagoras
Driftwood Beach is a magical place created by nature where you can actively engage in the art of pareidolia. The trees seem to come alive in the imagination. It's definitely a path to go down when you are on Jekyll Island. I'd be hard pressed to name a place that is more instagramable.
Pro Tip: Check you smart phone for low tide. You want to visit at the lowest tide possible. High tide is no where near as magical.

So worth the stop!!!! Spend the day, quick stroll, or whatever and enjoy all the driftwood. Great picture taking, dogs are allowed with a leash, spread a blanket and stay for the day, etc. So different than your everyday beach. Each piece of driftwood is so unique and pretty. There were no facilities, picnic tables, but the beach is sooo cool.

The beach is lined with beautiful trees (complete with branches and roots) that have washed ashore. Very, very photogenic :)

Driftwood beach is unlike any other beach that we’ve visited. The entire island is picturesque, but the trees create unforgettable natural sculptures all along the beach.

The allure of Driftwood Beach is not white, soft sand or clear blue waters, but instead the beach strewn with driftwood art! There is plenty of parking on the road, and several trails that lead down to the beach area. The beach is covered with shells and beautiful driftwood weaving it's way in and out of the water and sand. The water was warm in early June, though most visitors weren't in the water, but enjoying walking on the beach and strolling through the driftwood. Beautiful Driftwood Beach on peaceful Jekyll Island!

I couldn't imagine this being worth 5 stars before we went but it is so lovely. We ended up going twice with tide at different times to see it and take pictures. I highly recommend parking at the N parking area versus the perpendicular parking a bit south.

Beautiful beach. Dog friendly. Not crowded Would advice sitting and let the breeze wash over you. Nice parking area with a slight walk to the beach. Highly recommend going at low tide.

We spent an hour here while waiting for a dinner reservation and could have stayed longer. It was a cool evening and was very windy, but the trees are so beautiful and the sun was setting. A couple had strung hammocks up and I was actually jealous I couldn't do the same. Cannot miss this when visiting Jekyll.

We were surprised to find this gem. Easy to find and access with no fees. Easy parking or to bike to. Really an amazing natural beach. Get a picture of the St Simons lighthouse through the driftwood. We loved it.

Although I've seen pictures, none of them have done this beach justice. It literally is trees with nothing on them or completely uprooted ones and of course driftwood lying about. I was sadden that people were picking up Whelk Conchs with residents still in them. As we walked along and found them, we threw them back in the water.

Driftwood beach is a great photo opportunity. Two couples we're getting married during our visit. Although actually dead trees and not driftwood, it is still unique and beautiful

My friend insisted we visit this beach. We rode our bikes ( super easy ride) It was high tide when we visited and it was well worth the visit.
Want to try to visit again when the sunrises!

Driftwood Beach was like something from another world—it was simply breathtaking. We came in the mid-afternoon and it was very hot. It was also very, very crowded, which made taking photos a challenge. We were so glad we came because it was truly a spectacular thing to see, but next time we’d come earlier in the morning when it was a little cooler…and hope for smaller crowds!

This is a unique beach with lots of driftwood trees all over it. Our kids loved climbing the trees and exploring. Being April, we didn’t plan to go in the water, but it also was very rocky along the water so not sure it’s much of a swimming beach anyways. Definitely worth the stop though!

This restaurant is a lesson in how to feed many people good food and very efficiently. We enjoyed dinner last evening as much as the first time. Better get in line before 5 p.m. unless you don't mind waiting. No reservations or call ahead, and that's okay.

WOW. This area is peaceful, breathtaking, and haunting all wrapped up in one don't-miss beach. We love to visit every time we're on Jekyll. Perfect for pictures, watching the sunrise, or a family picnic.

A must see when visiting the area. The trees are giant! You can see across to St Simon light house. We had the beach to ourselves on a Wednesday morning in October.

Very nice different kind of beach to visit. Unique strand with lots of old trees and wood in the sand. It’s located near the end of the island so kind of out of the way so there was plenty of parking available when I went. Some kids playing in the sand but no where to get in the water. Great for exploring and walking.

I moved to St Louis almost two years ago and my fiancé has never been to Georgia. I wanted to take her to my favorite place back home so I brought her to Driftwood Beach! She loved it just as much as I do! Always so beautiful and very relaxing here!

Beautiful beach it was so unique. We rode bikes to the beach from our resort. We stayed at the Holiday Inn that was a nice ride to the beach.

Very cool beach with lots of driftwood everywhere. Cool for pics. You can walk quite a distance! You can't take any driftwood, though.

My husband walks with a cane so we were a little nervous about getting here, but it was a fairly short walk from the parking spots on the main road, with a boardwalk until just a bit before you reach the beach itself. The beach itself is pretty hard packed sand, but it is soft sand to get there - you will get sandy feet! Some people were swimming here, but most were like us just there for the photos, or climbing for the kids. Bring a selfie stick if you have one, so many great photos to be had!

Stunning! It was a beautiful morning walk among the trees alive with birds. Like nothing I've ever seen before. Bring gnat spray and a camara!

We have seen driftwood piled on beaches but nothing like this. This is a must see if you ever go on the Island.

Beautiful beach for pictures, but remember the bug spray. We were only able to stay a few minutes because of the number of bugs biting us and the children.

Walking among these huge old oak trees was truly amazing. We saw a baby crab in a tidal pool, took a lot of photos.

Nice beach to walk with your family or with pets and it wasn't crowded. The fishing pier is there as well for those fishermen in your life

This beach is amazing with all of the giant pieces of Driftwood. Words cannot describe the beauty here. It is an easy walk to get there from the parking area. We saw a beautiful bride and groom taking photos there while we visited.

Terrible idea - the sand gnats are terrible - you won't last 90 seconds on Driftwood beach. (This message brought to you by the "Let's Keep Jekyll a Secret" Society)
Truthfully, Driftwood Beach is sensational. I've had a home at Driftwood Beach for 6 years (1/2 mile down the road), and I walk my dogs almost daily on Driftwood Beach. It is well worth seeing, but you should know that there are no amenities there - no restrooms, no snack shops, no hotels. Also, there is not much beach there at high tide, so try to visit at low tide. The sand gnats can be terrible on a still day but usually the wind keeps them from bothering you much. 6 years ago, Driftwood Beach was very secluded, but since Trip Advisor has been ranking the beach high, we have smaller crowds come in from time to time. So set your expectations accordingly and you'll love it.

Truly an amazing place! Isn't really marked well, would have expected a sign on the road to let you know it is there. We figured since there were several parking places in addition to handicap places that it might be the right place. We were right. It is a short walk from the parking area to the beach. Consider bug spray! There is quite a stretch of beach that has driftwood pieces and full trees/root systems that have either washed up or fallen over from the erosion and sand/wind, etc. Some amazing pictures to be had! We had rain that day, and there was another storm brewing. Made for some fantastic pictures. Some people out, not bunches, which made it even better. Don't miss seeing this. You'll be disappointed if you don't get there.

A short walk is necessary from the parking area, but the views make it all worthwhile. Especially enjoyable at sunrise but lovely anytime.

This was the most incredible place I’ve ever seen in my life. Words and pictures won’t ever do it justice! Amazing for sunrise but if you want a gorgeous sunset picture- go to the fishing pier just a mile down the road - across from the campground

Unbelievable place to walk. So much to see and take photos. Very clean. Definitely worth the walk. We spent only a tan hr and would of loved to spend the day.

There is always something cool to find in the little tidal pools as well as the beauty of the driftwood. I’ve come here without the kids many times but saw it on a whole new light with them this time. Their excitement with each new discovery was so fun!

I can now understand why they did filming from The Walking Dead here. Trees are enormous seems like the apocalypse has happened. But you look around and there are families and kids running all around and standing in trees. Great photo opts . No

Gorgeous views and the driftwood is amazing. Plan to spend at least an hour just exploring the beach life.

Spent a few hours here just wondering around looking at all the trees. My daughter loved to chase the tiny crabs crawling all over the trees and under them.

Beautiful spot. One of the more unique places on the east coast. Fantastic scenery. Perfect for memorable family photos. Suñrise and sunset are the best time.

It’s all about the sunrises here!! An amateur photographer can look like a professional with these incredible driftwood pieces!! The shadows, and light are phenomenal!!! So much fun to watch!
The sunset was pretty cool and looks creepy in pictures!!
Lots of bugs at night though.

This was so cool to walk around and see the driftwood. Get your phone or camera ready. So many great places to takes. Take to take it all in. It is a must when you come. If you are near this island you have to come visit.

Can't even describe how beautiful Driftwood Beach is1 Very prehistoric and haunting! Especially when the fog rolls in! Absolutely loved everything about it!

you cannot believe nature could create a sight as awesome as this... driftwood all over the beach and natural.a real surprise and eye opener.

Try to go during low tide so you can see more trees and root systems. Fun little trip in our Red Bug golf cart. Very unique and worthwhile the visit.

Wow oh wow. Drift wood Beach is aoemthing to behold. It's scenic views of oak trees that have been knocked over by hurricane winds and erosion leaves the beach looking like it has grand thrones awaiting for all the island royal visitors to sit infront of.
Most of the beach is wet/hard compacted sand that is easy to walk on and push push stroller. I really enjoyed that. Be sure to tine your visit. High tide gets pretty high up on tbe beach and you could easily get stuck out there.
I'm not a fan of sunbathing, sand, or even the beach but this is certianly a place I can't wait to come back to with family.

Super nice beach! Parking lot was really close, so no need to haul a bunch of stuff with you! Shady area with picnic tables. The parking lot could have been a little larger, but this time of year it was not overly packed. Really enjoyed it!

Be sure & allow time to visit this beach & see all the large trees that either toppled over or were washed ashore during a storm. While you wouldn't want to swim here, its fun to just walk among the driftwood.

Wow. Looks like a different planet. Very interesting to visit! We learned the dead trees are not actually driftwood. Met one of the shore patrol guys who offered interesting background info. Saw new turtle track to and from a nest dug just hours before sunrise!

What a great beach! We loved how unique and beautiful it was. Definitely a must see when in Jekyll Island. We visited a couple of times during our stay.

Driftwood beach seems like a moonscape and clearly is the impact of erosion of storms and shipping causing sand to move as is common on barrier islands. It was brisk but pleasant walk in December’s fresh air. Quite a few people also enjoying it despite cold December temps .

We heard a lot about this beach, but when we got there it was interesting, but not really impressive to me. I guess its interesting in the way there are dead trees right on the beach, which is something you dont normally see. Decent place, just not for me.

Fantastic beach to walk off your stress and learn how to relax again. Strolling past the barren trees and huge pieces of fallen trees was such a unique experience. Took our dog with us, since it is a pet friendly beach. The sand is packed well, so our 12 year old lab had no problem getting around.
We stayed in a condo near the beach. We never felt any apprehension about covid during our time there. Good for couples and families.

Great place to walk and just feel like you’re in a different world nice flat easy to walk on sand beautiful place to visit will be back again.

A must visit on the island . Great photo location.
Said enough, now I have to add 50 more characters.

The setting is remarkable. Our experience was less than wonderful because at the time there were swarms of gnats. They were more than irritating. I recommend using bug spray. We immediately found at the local gas/convenience store at the entrance to the island. I wish we would have had it sooner because it worked. The Driftwood Beach aside from the gnats is super for photography. So, in spite of the gnats its worth a visit.

Great adventure on this incredible island! The oaks are huge, everywhere and the patterns of the bark are gorgeous!

Jekyll Island is a beautiful place to visit with many different things to do. We enjoyed hiking the trails, visiting the historic district and sea turtle center as well as exploring Horton pond and the Horton House. The pier and nearby trails to Driftwood Beach are a wonderful way to experience the natural beauty of the island. We found lots of sand dollars around the Oceanview Park entrance to the beach. The wide beaches at the south end of the island are also enjoyable. The sand gnats were plentiful so I recommend you take plenty of bug spray or Skin So Soft by Avon. We stayed at a house close to the beach and the golf course which was a perfect location from which we could walk to the shops, the historic district and putt-putt. If you are not in good shape, it is a very short drive from this central location.

While this isn't technically 'driftwood' (dead trees), this is a very interesting and unique spot. Recommend to go at sunrise and bring bug spray! Guessing August isn't the best time to go, though.

This beach has something for everyone. The main attraction is the landscape of amazing dead trees, perfect for photos with and without people. During our visit we saw children building sandcastles, teens practicing baseball pitches, adult couples relaxing with lounge chairs and soft music, and families and friends posing for photos beside or on the trees. There are no restrooms; visitors need to walk through sand from the parking lot.

The bugs were horrible. Looks like many locals use the beach attraction (tree) go throw the empty beer bottles to the sea.
A must see on Jekyll Island
Absolutely a must stop, if on Jekyll Island. The dead trees lining the beach are beautiful and picture worthy. Be cautious, the rocks are difficult to navigate and a fall out not be a great addition to your trip.
