Fabulous!

By FactotumDellaCitta |

This place exceeded our expectations! While we were initially skeptical about the value, given the high ticket price ($25 per adult, $23 with AAA membership), at the end of our visit we felt that we received ample value for the price. The gardens offer a variety of plants and are meticulously maintained. The butterfly exhibit was fun. The hourly tram ride was quite informative and provided a great introduction to the place.

Beautiful gardens

By jetsetMar |

I've visited the gardens during Mango festival and another occasion. This time it was for the chocolate festival. While I was underwhelmed with the festival itself, it's good to know your ticket price ($25) includes entrance to the Gardens. It's serene and beautiful nature that is worth getting lost in any random day and learning about all sorts of flora. My favorite is the Wings of Tropics butterfly exhibit. I can spend hours just watching a variety of butterfly species float around without any care in the world.

If you haven't visited, it's worth a day in the gardens and marveling at Chihuly art too.

Worth the trip!

By jct263 |

We were unexpectedly stuck in Miami for 2 days in transit because of travel woes. Visiting the Fairchild both days made us really glad for the delay. Beautiful and fascinating plants and animals. We saw 3 crocodiles as well as many different kinds of birds. Don't miss the butterflies! The 1-hour free tram tour of the 83-acre garden was really helpful to give us an overview and lots of hints of where we might want to explore on our own. Most of the people we met were volunteers, all very enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and helpful. We'd go back to Miami to visit the gardens again.

Luscious

By Elfma |

Eight beautiful acres of walking paths, tropical gardens, ponds and educational exhibits. Nice cafe with air conditioned indoor and ample outdoor covered seating. Benches everywhere. Crocodiles(not alligators). Free walking tours. Birding hotspot. Pricey with discounts for military, students and seniors. Enjoy the drive over, the area has a wealth of wonderful architecture and storybook Banyan trees.

Beautiful!!!!!

By ALMD |

Beautiful place. Nice outdoor areas, friendly staff. The butterflies area is gorgeous. I recommend it to everybody.

Beautiful place...well worth the trip!

By HappyKangaroo |

WOW. My friends and I went for the Mango festival in July and we were not disappointed! Such a beautiful place!

Beautiful visit

By Sandy A |

We visited on a beautiful Tuesday in January. The grounds and foliage were exquisite. The butterfly garden was amazing. The staff in the butterfly garden shared so much information. I’d definitely return! It’s a must-see!

DELIGHTFUL BOTANIC GARDEN

By Miles Archer |

They're open 10 AM to 4 PM daily. Tickets can be purchased online. My wife and I just walked in and bought tickets at the gift shop. It cost us $25 each. We did a self walking tour, checking out the butterfly exhibit, the tropical fruit conservatory and the rare plant conservatory. There are 83 acres here. Crocodiles are in the water. We walked over to where they might be and saw only one, it was resting on the bank. It was just sunning itself and wasn't a threat. Service animals are allowed. We saw one woman with a dog on a leash. People were wearing masks. This place wasn't crowded when we were here on a weekday early afternoon. Pleasant weather. Temperature in the mid-70s. There's a cafe here, but we didn't stop in. We spent almost two hours here. Well worth the price of admission.

Don’t skip the tram tour!

By Bara G |

The gentleman that did our tram tour was outstanding!!! He was funny and very knowledgeable! The gardens are stunning.

A quiet urban oasis

By Kelechi O |

This is the place for you if you're into tropical flora, fauna, and some wildlife. This place is quiet, even with major events, and offers many opportunities for viewing and learning about plants and animals you may not have heard of. Bring the cameras and good walking shoes.

A Lovely Walk

By Dona P |

For a quiet and lovely walk, visit Fairchild Tropical Botanical Gardens. Be advised, this garden is for walkers, there is a tram tour but it's limited in scope. If you like to be out in the fresh, warm to hot air, this place is for you. Fairchild has bathrooms at the entrance, but nowhere else on the property. They do have some group rentals, so you may encounter a group of school children or notice a party in the courtyard. Some of the vistas and plants are made for photographers and posers. There are several specialty buildings that house more unusual plants or collections.
We encountered an orchid show and sale once time. A few glass sculptures by Chihuly are sprinkled in the front garden area.

Love it Here!

By Katerina P |

One of the coolest places in Florida. Everytime we are in Miami we come to visit the gardens. The rain Forrest is just incredible, and the butterfly exhibit is one of the best we have ever seen. We love it here!

Gorgeous

Great place. Love the butterfly garden. Good in the cafe is great, especially the hummus salad. Great time with the kids or for adults alone.

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden

By Joseph S |

Fabulous place to tour for hours. Wish I had brought the grandkids. Lucked out with perfect weather, but even in summer, this would have been worth the visit. The butterfly exhibit was astonishing, as as the Madagascar garden. The grounds are meticulously attended to, the volunteers - mostly older people - friendly and well-informed - and the experience eye opening for this guy who is usually not a botanic garden enthusiast.

Paid and so much construction not worth it.

By Twalady |

Do not take elderly or handicapped. A lot of construction and rough walkways. Tram is parked on a dirt path not a safe walkway. Tram driver was excellent only good part of the day. But tram is only running on half the garden because of construction. Maps are also not correct . Was horrible trip for 2 90 yr old ladies.

Glorious gardens of tropical plants and trees.

By Seasidedad |

Beautifully laid out gardens with lakes created to showcase plants and trees from around the world, but all from tropical and sub tropical areas. There is also a delightful butterfly house where they free fly.
Cafe offers good food at reasonable price.
You can also take a 45 minute trolley tour with narration, good idea to get a feel for the garden which is 85 acres and therefore quite a walk.

Beautiful Place

By Dini O |

This is an absolutely beautiful place to walk around. Quiet, peaceful, just wonderful. There are lots of little secret areas to discover, like an orchid garden and a beautiful waterfall in a fern grotto where we sat for several minutes just soaking up nature. Admission is a little pricey, but we did spend the entire day here, so it was worth it.

Orchid extravaganza

By Suzanne L |

We have an annual membership so we can see this massive botanical garden often. There is just too much to see in one visit. If you only get one shot take the tram ride and be treated to a smorgasbord of plants big and small exotic and native beautiful and more than beautiful.

Dbcooperisalive gives this a 5 star review

By dbcooperisalive |

We drove for 2 hours to see Fairchild Botanical Garden for our first time. We loved this incredible place. We spent the day here and came back to see the Nightgarden light show. We bought a family membership so we will be back. A great perk is with a member you get in for free or discounted at other participating botanical gardens in the National botanical garden network. Great day yesterday

A must

By dorene g |

Went to the chocolate festival and had a great time. Something for everyone to do and see. Had a great time

An amazing place to visit anytime of the year!

By Andee W |

I have been going to Fairchild since way before it was built up and we would enter through the back where the little house was.
I brought my children and now my grandchildren, and we are never disappointed. The highlight, of course is the screen enclosure with the amazing butterflies. we truly enjoy the handout for the scavenger hunt so it lets the little ones really observed their surroundings. Thank you to all the volunteers without you. It just wouldn’t be the same.

Beautiful Tropical Garden !

By Azadirachta |

Beautiful Tropical Garden. The butterfly house is a must. Many palms species, there is a specimen african baobab of over 70 years old and even a nice exhibit of the dry forest forest of Madagascar ! The electric car tour free is interresting as you get a lot of information from the guide.

Chocolate Festival

By mwooduk |

The weather was so beautiful yesterday and my best friend and I went to the chocolate festival at Fairchild. There were lots of food trucks, stores selling interesting products - Everything from candles to Honey, and lots of Artisanal chocolate companies selling unique chocolate. Most of the chocolate companies gave out tiny free samples and you were able to try things before you bought them. It was nice to see that many of the companies were local Miami companies.
We also enjoyed a wonderful walk around the garden and saw an alligator subbing itself on the bank! It was packed and parking did take some time, but as long as you are patient it’s great fun to visit Fairchild when its having a special event. They do not run the trams on special events just because of the pure volume of people there. This is a perfect time of year to visit the garden.

Beautiful tropical garden

By Gwenn M |

This garden covers many acres with winding paths through different plant collections. I always find a visit very relaxing. Don't miss the grotto or the butterfly exhibit.

Great place to integrate yourself with nature!

By Carlos A |

A beautiful garden to go to and integrate yourself with nature and the beauty of plants and flowers and if they have music playing is even better.

Beautiful garden

By Mike C |

This is a beautiful botanical garden. I especially enjoyed the rainforest area. The butterfly house was also phenomenal. I wish that I had been there at a time that I could have had a guided tour, because I think I would have gotten more from my experience .

Fairchild Tropical Gardens - Gardens Nights

By HugsFromSweetPea |

Fairchild Tropical Gardens - Garden Nights open nightly in December by appointment. Walk thru Garden lit with lights and lasers, fairies and talking trees. Valet parking recommended.

Best of its Kind

By Dockie2018 |

Ending a week's spring vacation with a couple days in Coral Gables, we visited these gardens for a few hours. Though tram tours were not being offered due to Covid, we enjoyed walking the colorful trails. Tropical flora of all sorts were appreciated in their specific locations on the property. The butterfly house, populated by flying specimens from many countries, was delightful. We'll visit again.

Gorgeous

By JadedButPractical |

A beautiful and varied garden park. Give yourself a few hours to have a good walk through.

We especially liked the rainforest section and the tree specimens.

Large Palm Tree and Butterfly exhibits

By Nel |

Beautiful gardens with a stunning butterfly House. Glasshouse cafe allows you to see into the butterfly house after you tour inside. The tram ride Guide was the highlight (included with visit) Volunteers have been doing it for years- ours sounded like a botanist. Large shaded paths and easily accessible paths.

Mia-advertised Mango event

By Cat J |

We are members at the Garden, but were extremely disappointed last weekend for the Mango Marketplace event. They had ONE table with a icy Mango drink and very limited mangoes. They were out of mangoes before Noon on Sunday. People came only because they thought the advertised event was a real event. Very disappointed that they mis-advertised deceiving the public. I would be surprised if they don’t lose people in future events.

Fairchild Tropical Gardens Crocodiles / By Gregg L. Friedman MD

By Gregg L. Friedman MD |

The gardens are beautiful. I recommend visiting during the winter months on a cold day to avoid the high humidity, heat, and rainfall during the summer months. Also, less mosquitos in the winter. We went on a cold day 46 degrees and got to see the large 9.5 foot American Crocodile trying to warm himself in the sun.

Tropical paradise, just outside of Miami

By fancydancer59 |

We spent a leisurely four hours at the gardens. We participated in two tours offered by Jim – an expert volunteer who is so knowledgeable! It really made for a great experience. The butterfly garden was also very special. And of course the Chihuly glass is a treat.

Day out at Fairchild Tropical Gardens

By Sueisumma |

Had a wonderful time at Fairchild Garden but had a small problem getting round due to renovations but thanks to the amazing CEO and staff all sorted
Well worth a visit such a peaceful place and beautiful gardens

Bellooooo

By YourHelpfulWendy |

Beautiful, Peaceful, Unique, Lovely are one of the many adjectives I have to describe this gorgeous place. Went for the volunteer orientation as my daughter might work there. Paula the lady in charge was amazing with us as well as all the welcoming and gracious volunteers. It's beautiful how this garden is operated mostly by volunteers (over 700). Always put on repellent because mosquitos are very happy out here hahaha.
After the meeting we walked around this incredible garden, filled with plants from everywhere, with beautiful spots and perfect to take pictures. Many corporate events, weeding and specials meetings are held in here and I completely understand why.
After the walking tour we were aloud the spend the rest of the day in the garden and my daughter and I enjoyed very much the butterfly garden as well as the orchid art show they had.

Beautiful botanical garden

By Ulice Acosta |

Nice place to visit if you like and enjoy nature. Spectacular views and friendly staff. The best attraction is the Butterfly House.

Nature lovers paradise

By Nina S |

Every time I have family or friends visit Miami I take them to Fairchild. Although I have been there so many times, i am always impress by the beauty of the botanic garden. Definitely take the tram ride, it gives you an over view of the gardens and it’s fascinating history. The newer enclosed butterfly garden is fantastic. Best time to visit is winter, it does get very hot during the summer. Through out the year they have different festivals that can get very crowded. Best time to go is early in the morning. Their is a cafe which serves food. The food is ok a bit overpriced, but you can sit outside And enjoy the sun or inside where you can watch the butterflies.

Not good if you are an amateur and want to learn

By gddo |

We are amateurs when it comes to foliage but are happy to learn. We were very disappointed. There were hardly any signs telling us what certain plants/trees were. There is no field guide either. And there was no one to even ask. The butterfly exhibit was pitiful. I think there were 4 types of butterflies flying around in the entire Wings of the Tropics exhibit. I think you should only go if you have never been in any sort of butterfly exhibit before. Otherwise, you will be sadly disappointed. Many of the areas were closed. The tram tour is not operating. The only thing this is good for is if you just want a nice place to walk or if you already know what all this plants/trees are.

16 of us had a magical night at Night Garden

By Ramblingwelove |

This review is for the Night Garden event. I love Fairchild. I googled “family friendly New Years Eve” and happened upon The Night Garden. We bought 16 tickets and then I saw negative reviews and was nervous. This was one of the best NYE events we have attended in a long time. The garden was lit up, there were fairies, talking rocks, a talking tree, snow, DJ and fireworks. We loved it. I had read people who had concerns about accessibility but I saw 6 or 7 people in wheelchairs and they were able to get around the entire event. We each had small flashlights to help with dark corners but didn’t have any trouble navigating even with a stroller. The food truck prices were a little steep but for $15 my Spain burger included fries and was DELICIOUS. There were adult beverages. Plenty to see and my 2 y.o. granddaughter and the other kids enjoyed themselves. At the end of the night one of our group lost his keys but Steve, Tito, Andrew and Kevin stayed with us until they were found. True gentleman and a great event. So happy I didn’t let the negative reviews scare us away.

Amazing Botanic Garden!

By John-Marc Clark |

Join The National Tropical Botanical Garden Society and visit Fairchild and The Kampong while you are in Miami. Two treasures!

Night Garden

By Murielita2002 |

The night garden itself was beautiful!!! We enjoyed the lights and the talking tree! However, we were disappointed on how short it was and frankly had higher expectations for the price. I genuinely think the night garden is a good idea, but they need to think bigger. They need to have more lights and more activities for the kids or reduce the amount they are charging. I’m glad we went one time to see what it was about, but unless they have additional lights/activities, I wouldn’t return. One negative was that the path way was very dark so sometimes we weren’t sure if we were going the right way! The kids loved the talking tree and looking for the 6 fairies to figure out the message!

Holiday Visit

By Sarushkaya |

It’s a nice open area full of gators. One has to be careful, especially with children. There are warning signs all over.

They have put a light displays at night to enhance the flora.
We went to see it on Thursday, it was packed with families.
I particularly enjoyed walking through the misty forest, and the snow area. The Boulevard of the butterflies is very pretty.
A nice place to enjoy the Holiday Season in an open air environment with the family.
It was a pricey outing, definitely, not budget friendly

Tropical Park visit with family

By Olivier Dabi |

Fantastic one of a kind tropical park with palm trees everywhere and other beautiful plants. Several lakes make this a beautiful scenery and an unforgettable experience. Staff is very friendly and helpful. A must see.

Fabulous visit to these gardens

By Sandy W |

Fantasticgardens. If you arrive at the right time, they have a free one hour tram tour. Tram times today were 11 AM, 12 PM and 1 PM. The driver of our tram was incredibly knowledgeable.

So much to see that we spent three hours. Many different categories and sections for trees and plant growth. The butterfly house was fantastic. All at no extra charge. Senior rates available. Staff are very nice.

Night Garden

By avi haller |

Very nice place for adults and childrens. They transform the tropical park in a Night Garden during the hollydays. Good option for walking and enjoy something different

It's worth a visit.

By SandroMenezesSilva |

Wonderful place, ideal for a half-day trip, excellent mix of tropical species from different parts of the world. The tour with the electric train is essential, as it gives you an overview of the place, and then you can walk to the points of greatest interest. The snack bar is good and serves satisfying dishes.

Orchid Festival Fun for Everyond!

By Laura F |

Amazing and fun orchid show! I’ve been a member but it was the first time I attended this event. There was something for everyone, very entertaining, educational, shopping! I really enjoyed the lectures and I’m so excited to get my orchids for the million orchid project into my trees and yard.

Beautiful

By chez442002 |

Every garden brings its own uniqueness when you visit them. This one was no different. We first did the little tram tours around the gardens to get an overview of what we were to experience. It was very informative and gave you the history of how the gardens came about. We were very fortunate to see so many beautiful orchids and other flowers as we walked the grounds. The butterfly garden was also a great experience. If you have the time and love flowers I would make this a for sure stop.

Amazing garden

By Jane H |

Amazing garden and lovely food at the cafe. Views are wonderful with a fantastic selection of plants to see, very well kept. Gift shop a bit disappointing and could have had a wider choice of things to sell

One of my happy places

By Katie S |

I go to Fairchild Tropical Gardens whenever I need a little respite from the world ( I’m a member). It is a beautiful place to walk and enjoy the sun, fauna, butterflies , iguanas and lizards. I would highly recommend a visit - it will restore your soul😊!

Marvelous

By tolarjev |

Excellent docents. Be sure to take the tour on the tram. Great place to birdwatch & see iguanas. I also saw one rat snake, a snapping turtle, and anoles. Closes at 4:30, last tour in English was at 3:00.

Christmas light show

By alfie1113 |

This is a must see during the holidays. The entire garden is a magical lighted fantasy walk.. twinkling lights, talking trees, lighted and glowing plants ... takes approximately 1 hr to walk thru.. may be difficult for handicap.. but definitely a delight for children to adult

Night Gardens Spectacular

By Stephen R |

Had some friends in from out of town and realized the Night Gardens event at Fairchild Garden had opened. All I can say is wow, nirvana. You may wonder why or how it was so great. There were five of us and we all agreed, that all of our problems and worries were left at the entrance while enjoing the gardens. There was literally nothing on our minds, while we walked through a colorful fanasy. Total relaxation. The lights, the music, the food trucks, all just a perfect experience. HIGHLY RECOMMEND GOING! It's only there unti January 11th so don't put it off.

A Tropical Treasure

By Ellen L |

This lush oasis in Miami is a treat to see. The volunteer guides — Edith and Chris— we’re both so knowledgeable. The gardens are beautiful and fascinating. Our lunch at the little cafe was sweet — loved the environmentally-friendly dishes and utensils. Don’t forget to stop in the gift shop! Lots of lovely treasures.

Always something new to see

By MandMCharlottesville |

We've been members of the garden for several years, and it's always great to visit, whether for a brisk walk around the lagoon, or to wander and photograph the plants and wildlife. The "Wings of the Tropics" building is wonderful - you walk through clouds of exotic butterflies. We've seen art installations over the years, from Dale Chihuly and Clyde Butcher, among others. They also offer classes in plant husbandry and the arts through the year.

Loved them!

By Victoria |

We had such a wonderful time, the only thing I would say is the weather, I would recommend going in the cooler months. It was very hot and humid but we still thoroughly enjoyed it!

Night Garden lights up even the oldest spirits.

By KarenC |

The Night Garden experience was magical. A beautiful sight for all ages that includes an iterative fairy rescue by just downloading the app and a sassy talking tree named Archie.
On the educational side discover the advances Fairchild is making with growing food sustainable in outer space. Ask and your school can get involved too!

My, what big teeth you have....

By Terry H |

Great day trip for a family or a couple. Don't even think about attending if you're looking for thrill rides or shows, tis not an amusement park. Nature is the star of this park and it gets an A for effort on presentation. One star removed for a lack of (obvious) communication regarding the various elements that are/were on hold due to the pandemic. Specifically, the lack of transportation around the grounds might be a hardship for the elderly or others with disabilities. Other than that it was a wonderful visit with lots to see if you are into flora and fauna. Attached a pic of my new friend the American Crocodile.

If you have children under 12 I would suggest a shorter trip with a visit to the butterfly gardens and a hunt for animals as the highlights.

Best Botanic Park in South Florida

By giancarlo |

Honestly there wasn’t one thing that bothered me! Loved it and easily the best botanic park in south Florida! Always a good time to come in family, friends and especially with your couple to go on a date

More beautiful than ever with good social distancing protocols made for a peaceful and relaxed visit

By JoaquinCartagena |

The garden is more beautiful than ever, and with social distancing, the relaxing walk around the ponds and gardens were a needed change of pace in this Covid era

November Visit

By illinoisexplore |

Transportation around Miami is expensive. However, you can save $5 off your admission by utilizing the eco discount and walking to the garden. The distance is about 3 miles each way from the Dadeland Mall. Not a bad walk unless it's 90 degrees outside, which it was. Once at the botanic garden, there are plenty of ways to cool off. You can go inside the lovely butterfly garden or the cafe, enjoy the intermittent shade along the paths, and enjoy the tram tour. Wildlife includes lizards, iguanas, a large crocodile, and even a snake. I would suggest taking the tram tour first so that you know exactly where the crocodile is located. Snakes, however, always take me by surprise. The garden is lovely, and visiting the garden was a pleasant way to spend a warm Tuesday in November.

I saw signs all over Miami advertising that Better Bus was coming soon. I hope the Better Bus improves the Miami transportation options.

Great place for a peaceful stroll

By sdf66 |

My second visit and this time I took my wife so she could enjoy the beauty of the gardens. We walked around the central lake and through the butterfly enclosure and rare plants area. All were excellent.

"Above and Beyond"

By Bo Hodiak |

I had a complaint about the FG so I went to the visitor center and Brigette Banks, , the visitor center coordinator, was called out. We had driven a long way from Stuart to see FG and since I had trouble walking, I was eager to take the tram ride, which goes through the whole enormous. park. To my great disappointment the last tram left at i pm though the park was open to 5 p.m. Well, Bridgette has the type of upbeat personality that would make Scrooge (ofDicken's the "Christmas Carol") smile . She soothed my disappointment, gave me a bunch of passes to come back, and left me happy. Thank you FG. We will be back.

Tranquil walking grounds

By Guide40750310992 |

The garden was nice but would have probably been a better experience had we made the tram tour. Walking around and looking at the property was relaxing but perhaps having someone explain the surroundings would have made for a more pleasurable experience.
I think we were there a bit early for the main blooming season. A few things out but not much as of Feb 28.
Neat butterfly exhibit and beautiful glass sculptures on site.
We were there for a little more than an hour.

In our opinion, we thought the Fruit and Spice Park in Homestead was a better choice, then again we attended the tasting tour - so it's not really a fair comparison. Would highly recommend Fruit and Spice Park, if in the area.

Enjoyable but a bit overpriced

By brandasa |

The gardens are beautiful. Well maintained. Some flowers I’ve never seen before. We spent just under two hours here.

The price is a bit high though. If your funds or time in Miami are limited I would choose vizcaya over these gardens.

Night Garden

By christy b |

A 5 minute drive to Fairchilds Night Garden became a one hour drive. We had tickets for 9pm, the traffic to enter and park took an hour. It was very disorganized, we did not get in the event until almost 10pm, we had to quickly walk through the park through crowds of people to try and see everything in 30 minutes because we were told they were closing at 10:30. We were very disappointed, and were expecting a more pleasant experience.

Profound beauty

By Paul L |

Took my Chihuahua to the Sunday morning "Dog Stroll". Morning in the garden might be the nicest time. The experience was exquisitely beautiful. If one could imagine the garden of Eden, it might be something like that.

Beautiful place

By angieguerrerof |

Super beautiful place, 100% worth.
I recommend carrying repellent because there are mosquitoes especially around the lagoon.

Beautiful Botanic Garden

By ubojct55555 |

I glanced at some the pictures on here and decided it was worth a look. I'm glad I took a look, because it's very nice. We live so close and I'm a veteran so I get in free so I think I may buy my wife a year pass so we can go for walks and runs there. The grounds are very nice and makes for a very relaxing 2 hour walk with beautiful views.

Amazing Tour!

By Mary Ann S |

We have a legally blind (low vision) family member who joined us on our trip to the garden. The Fairchild allowed us to go on a shuttle driven by the volunteer named Thad. He was WONDERFUL! Thad explained the history of the garden and then show us around the beautiful gardens for a amazing tour. We are sure to visit again. Thanks, Thad! And thank you, Fairchild Garden folks for being so accommodating!

A Beautiful Garden

By MillDawn89 |

We spent a lovely afternoon here on a mild January day. The gardens are beautiful and well kept and were easy to walk around. There were golf carts driven by staff for those who needed help navigating the paths. While some plants were labeled, not all were which made it frustrating trying to identify unusual plants. The tropical butterfly exhibit was one of the best I’ve seen with lots of butterflies. The staff were friendly. The map was confusing and hard to follow in some areas. It was a nice way to spend some time outside!

Dissatisfied

By Sheryl C |

Very disappointed. It was advertised as a 60-90 minute activity and it took us 20-30 minutes and that was stopping to take pictures and waiting for the people in front of me taking group shots.

It was advertised as holiday and there was no holiday anything. The band at the end played club music not holiday music. For the cost and the drive from FTL to Coral Gables was not worth my time or money.

It was advertised as fun for all ages and it was ok in this area but it didn't entertain adults with us at all.

Exotic Tropical Botanic Garden

By AndreaUbok |

We parked & entered via. the North Gate through a magnificent gift shop. We stopped at info. & got a map. We walked through lush gardens to the lake where we caught our hour long informative tram tour through the 2 mile tropical gardens. This premier tropical botanic garden has more than 23,000 plants, 3,400 species on 83 acres from 1938. The palms, edibles, conservatory, rainforest, cycads, lawns, fountains, pergolas, bamboo, exotic tropical butterflies, finches, orchids.... were spectacular. We saw many very rare exotic trees & pants & very enormous trees over 100 feet introduced to South Florida. I didn’t realize there are only 12 palms native to South Florida. We saw a huge crocodile, turtles, iguanas & endless colorful birds. We spent @ 3 hrs. here, admission was $25 & we will have to come back next year for the night garden.

Fabulous

By anonj |

Loved this huge, expansive garden. Nice tram ride although the seats are rigid plastic and very uncomfortable. Tram tours depart hourly but the last one was at 1p when we were there.

If you come and go by uber/lyft, be aware that for pickup, specifying e.g. "north entrance" doesn't help. If you're at the gift shop, enter the street address: 10901 Old Cutler Road.

If you're trying to decide between Vizcaya and Fairchild and only have time for one, I'd pick Fairchild.

Beautiful

By Gizelly M |

Beautiful day. A lot different plants. Some of them was the first time I ever seen. Definitely Oi will go back. They over complementary wheelchair for seniors.

It is an interesting place to visit.

By nextbigadventure123 |

I never knew there were so many different types of palm trees! Ride the tram first then walk back to get a better look at what interests you. Don’t miss the butterfly exhibit, it is very interesting.

Not Your Average Botanic Garden

By Steve |

Fairchild is located in historic coral gables, a short drive from downtown Miami and minutes from The University of Miami.
What to expect: A fun filled experience including tram tour, plenty of photo ops and interactions with fantastic folks. Interactions with the always pleasant volunteers here are what “takes the cake”. The living butterfly conservatory is always a hit with the folks I take here. You’ll spend anywhere between two hours and the whole day here depending on your interest, and what events are currently taking place. I recommend getting there early as it is an outdoor event and can get somewhat warm in the summer. There is a museum, gift shop and plenty of shade baring trees to offset any weather. Within close proximity you’ll also find Viscaya Museum if you like like to bounce around. Coral gables is a beautiful city with plenty of great restaurants and interactions to be had. Fairchild gardens is the epicenter of that experience.

Visited the orchid festival

By Debbie J |

This a small botanical gardens, a little oasis in the big city. We went for the orchid festival which was inside a small hall, there were stalls and food trucks. It has small grounds but makes a pleasant couple of hours.

Easily the best botanical garden around

By Sergei PT |

Very surprised by the Fairchild Gardens. Super reasonable prices (kids under 5 don't pay), friendly staff, bathrooms with water to fill bottles.
Garden itself is so well kept, I kept wondering how much maintenance it must require.
You can walk around for a couple of hours easily and lots of places covered by beautiful trees.
We went for the Jurassic Garden temporary exhibition, and the kids LOVED it. Well above our expectations.
Very happy to have visited.

Loved 🥰

By Virginia A |

I absolutely loved everything. I was so amazed with the humidifiers are the mist that was coming out of the wires was great. It gave me some great ideas. I have a little house plant store. I try to get rare unusual, but not like these. I do have a small humidifier, but I might be able to run that at night. That would be great. I was wondering, when does I think his name is Chad but when is he there to answer some questions anytime soon?

Pretty but Expensive

By NYTravelerBD |

It was definitely worth visiting this tropical botanical garden, which had beautiful tropical flowers and palm trees, and a small but nice butterfly house. It was very photogenic and made for some nice family photos.

My only criticism is it is very expensive for a botanical garden, and I think that this type of attraction should be made more affordable for middle class people to visit and enjoy South Florida's natural beauty.

Spectacularly beautiful, peaceful botanical garden

By TravelerWithOpinions |

What a spectacularly beautiful, peaceful botanical garden! We came late one afternoon and strolled through the misty cloud forest, admired so many orchids and delighted in the butterflies. Seeing Chihuly glass sculpture installations was a bonus.

We look forward to returning when we have more time to savor and explore this extraordinary place.

Don't go for big events!

By mommy057 |

We have been to the Fairchild before on trips to Miami, but made the mistake of going on the Sunday of the chocolate festival in January 2020. Our interest was really in the plants and the crowds were very off-putting. Here is my plea to the Fairchild - you have a gorgeous spot and are doing very important work in study and preservation of plant species. I know the pressure to raise money is enormous, but is the extent of parking and traipsing that goes on with such an event really worth it? Vendors were running out of provisions and there were a lot of cranky people. The Fairchild is high on the list of sites I go to any time I am in town, but I would never go again during an event like this. The infrastructure just doesn't support traffic at this level, and I found myself worrying that the crowds were doing more harm than good. Perhaps it would make sense to decide on a number that the grounds and facility and vendors really can handle, and limit tickets to that number, making attendance special and something that many people would pay a little extra for?

Nice gardens, disappointing for kids

By Shannon33 |

Love the garden grounds, but wish there was more for kids. They say there is a children’s garden, but it’s just a few stumps with swarms of mosquitos. Seems like an afterthought. Maybe I’m spoiled after living in Atlanta where the children’s garden is top notch. Maybe they are trying to attract an older crowd. Don’t think I will renew my membership for this reason.

Beautiful specimen plantings

By spiritofjuliet |

A gorgeous garden filled with mature specimen trees and shrubs in thoughtful plantings. The butterfly house was amazing, and the occasional iguana a delight. Don't miss it!

Visitors from up North are entranced!

By metracy2017 |

Entering the tropical atmosphere is thrilling. Northerners are so happy with the warmth and humidity. So much to see. The tram ride is just great! You always learn something new. Always! It’s on my Must Do list for my frozen pals.

Great for kids or if you like gardens.

By Frank G |

This was my third time at the Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden for the Easter Egg Hunting event they host every year which I enjoyed pretty much.

The venue setting fits the event pretty well. The landscapes and open spaces are just beautiful and perfect for fun activities with the kiddos. It makes you feel like you are out of the city while still in the city.

I will be returning to this venue whether it is for the Easter Egg Hunting or any other event.

Wonderful experience!

By Coastal23225657969 |

The gardens and butterflies were amazing. We drove in from Port Charlotte and it was well worth the drive. 10 out of 10. We will definitely be back in the future.

An absolute delight. Make sure to go to a festival.

By Bellatako |

Made an absolutely delightful visit to the Fairchild botanical garden. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. The staff friendly and helpful. I went to the mango festival that was real fun with live music and dancing and various mango themed stands. The butterfly garden is chalk full of butterflies. A great activity for people of all ages.

If you love gardens, you must visit -- just beware of weddings during your visit

By Andrew K |

My wife and I were so thrilled to be able to visit these gardens while staying in Miami, and, once we were able to actually get in, we thought it was worth the inconvenience and occasionally rude and terse staff. On the Saturday morning we visited, we first were disappointed by the two small and full parking areas close to the Visitor center. As we disappointedly prepared to drive back out, following a line of similarly disappointed visitors, we saw that, near the entrance, there was a huge and empty lot, with spaces for perhaps a hundred cars or more, being blocked by gruff guards. "Weddings!," we were told (actually two were scheduled for that day, both set up with what seemed like a hundred chairs in what would have been visitor areas). We found space along the road outside, and walked in. At the visitor center, I told an apologetic staff member that the guards could have been helpful, pointing would-be visitors to parking outside the site. The grounds themselves were lovely, and we were able to enjoy walking around, trying to ignore all the workmen and equipment related to the weddings. Our favorite spot was the "Wings of the Tropics" butterfly sanctuary, perhaps the largest and best such sanctuary we've ever visited. But it was hard to ignore the closed cafe -- sorry, the weddings again -- which did offer an open window with takeout offerings, and outside tables. We skipped it. So enjoy, but find out first if weddings or corporate functions will affect your visit.

A Must Visit South Florida Attraction

By TheBestOnly_13 |

This a South Florida Paradise with almost 100 beautiful acres (Tram tours available, so you do not have to walk) is a must-visit attraction for residents and tourist of all ages. I suggest a mid-morning visit to avoid the heat.

Stunning beauty

By The Pidge |

Like some of my other favorite botanical gardens, Fairchild Tropic Botanic Garden features a combination of well-manicured grounds and a more natural, uncultivated section to highlight the local environment (in an unspoiled way). I allowed two hours and made it through everything I wanted to see, although a third would have allowed me more time to fully appreciate the wealth of beauty on display. Next time I'm in the area I'll allow more time to enjoy everything here.

beautiful plants, flowers. do not miss thebutterflysanctuary with hindreds of different butterflies going all over.some might land on your clothing.
great souvenir shop with seeds, soapsscarvesetc =great for gifts

Loved it!

By Jay D |

This is a BIG area to cover! Our advice, that the shuttle to cover the majority of the park, then finish it off my doing butterfly enclosure🤫 We saw a HUGE 10-12 ft gator 🐊 on our shuttle ride😮 Nice gift area when checking in:) Employees at frond seat were friendly and engaging😃 Loved the ☔️ rain forest! The overall gardens are beautiful! Shuttle driver did a great job giving us information about the gardens. Bring mosquito spray.!!!!!!!!!!😳😮

Not as good as I expected.

By abh345678 |

We were a little disappointed with our visit. We made some technical errors like heading directly to the butterfly exhibit instead of going right out of the gift shop to walk through the gardens. After butterflies, we had some lunch at the café, which was decent (a chicken curry wrap and lox and a bagel) and then headed out towards the amphitheater and took the long walk around the lakes. I felt like I was walking around a boring golf course. By the time we got back over to the gardens, we were tired. We had wasted too much of our energy on that walk, so at the end, we rushed past the Madagascar garden and other gardens over there that were really quite lovely.
The other thing that was annoying was there were a lot of blowers and other noise making machines the day we were there. This really distracted from the peaceful environment. The butterfly exhibit was great, and my five year old really liked it. Unfortunately for us, there was a tour of middle school students going through at the same time. Again, it made the experience significantly less magical.
They say that they are fully accessible but you cannot get to the sunken garden in a wheelchair, nor can you ride the tram unless you can stand up to get onto it. At one point, I asked some questions of a docent in the butterfly garden, and she told me I should take a tram ride. Unfortunately, that was not possible for me.
On the way out, I noticed they had fake orchids in the bathrooms by the gift shop. I’d rather not have any flowers in the bathroom at all than see plastic flowers in a tropical botanic garden.
We took an Uber from South Beach for about $27 each way and spent a whole chunk of our day there. I really wanted to love our visit. Perhaps I f I knew more about tropical plants, it probably would have been more meaningful to me. I just would’ve liked more information about what I was seeing and I couldn’t seem to get that.

Night garden was outstanding. The place is beautiful.

By Greg P |

This is a must to see the beauty of the garden is a delight to the eyes. We were in the night garden and our party was very impressed. Would recommend this to everyone in the area or who are visiting.

Superior Garden

By B W |

Tram tours available every hour or very easy trails to walk yourself. Fun for kids and families. This is one of the best tropical gardens in the world. 23000 plants and huge assortment of palms and cycads. 83 acres so be prepared to walk and keep cool. Butterfly gardens are very large. See what’s blooming year round. Gift shop and cafe’s available. You will love exploring the wonderful expanse of different habitats.

Fairchild fantastic

By Stratos L |

Amazing place in Miami for locals and tourists alike, to catch a breath and be among nature. Two toddler kids really enjoyed it, seeing the insect statues, butterflies, rainforest, and iguanas!

An oasis

By Anastasia3052018 |

We are so fortunate to have this special garden here. Foliage from all over the world is grown here; it is truly fascinating. Take the tram ride (they go once an hour) and each driver/guide teaches us something new. A great way to get an overview of this wonderful place.

Beautiful, well tended

By NewHavenTraveller |

Here for a low-key walk through the grounds with friends...such a beautiful collection of ferns, palms and orchids. The butterfly house is a treat.

The gardens are vast and beautiful

By Cindy P |

Go early to get the tram tour and then work you way through the different areas that deserve a much closer look. The gardens themselves are gorgeous. Our only bad issue was the number of employees in carts on the walking paths that were going way too fast, right down the middle, that did not even try to slow down to accommodate the paying tourist/guests that were on the paths. Jumping out of the way for older people is not an easy thing to do and we did not want to stand on top of a plant that perhaps was the only one of its kind in the garden. It would have been difficult to navigate by the map if we had not already taken the tram tour. However, the gardens themselves are inspiring!

Enchantment for kids and adults!

By TALEX |

We went to the Night Garden. It was so worth it. The laser lights and other displays were beautiful. We had to find captured fairies and release them. I noticed that kids were really engaged in this adventure. A bit of advice - download the fairy quest app on their website while you're waiting to get in. We weren't told this until we entered, and there was a log jam of people doing it. The botanical labs near the end are very interesting. The labs are doing some really cool things! Convenient restrooms and a variety of food. It is dark, however, and someone with vision issues may need extra attention.

lovely gift shop and gardens

By cheidashe |

The gardens were wonderful and have a very informative tram ride which I enjoyed. I learned a lot more about palm trees as well as other foliage. The gift shop was lovely and had wonderful soaps which will make great gifts to bring home, as well they have very unusual chocolates Apple and Cheddar as well as more adventurous flavours.

A Real Delight!

By Jan B |

These gardens were gorgeous! We spent about 2 hours here, but it wouldn't be hard to spend the entire day just thoroughly enjoying the tropical park.
Take a ride on the tram first, which gives you a narrated overview of the gardens, then you can walk back on your own and explore up close and personal.

Night out

By Cflores419 |

Felt like someone went crazy with the lights. Great time out with the family. 2 yr old loved it and it was an easy slow walking pace. The food trucks were a bit expensive, but it’s food trucks. All in all, a great family outing.

Oh and get there early. The parking was miserable for those late comers.

a very beautiful garden with a good area to go around

By hectorfrommiami |

This is a very nice and beautiful garden. Mi wife and I took advantage of the early hours for Senior Citizens on a Saturday morning so she walked around and I taking pictures, testing a camera.

As we are in summer, the heat was tough even so early in the morning, but no matter what, we had a very nice time there.

Fascinating oasis

By Colette P |

I really enjoyed these gardens. I don't want to spoil their overall rating, otherwise I would have given them 4 stars, due to the tram tour.
The grounds are well maintained and the number and variety of plant life is excellent. Everywhere you look, there is something different. The butterfly garden is fun.
The one big negative is the tram tour. We could not hear the guide at all unless she was off the tram. I presume the sound system is at fault, but it was a frustrating waste of time. We took the tram to get an overview so we'd know what we were looking at, when we walked the grounds, but that didn't happen. Plus the guide was a bit ditzy, and told us some speculation as fact (the baobob tree is failing, she said, due to climate change, which is simply not a proven fact but was clearly her bias). So that made me wonder about everything she said (so I probably shouldn't care that I missed most of it, haha).
I would recommend this outing for a nice afternoon.

Always something new at the garden

By Dawnielle J |

The gardens are great. There's always a new event or activity. We've gone for Mother's Day, the mango festival and the taste of the Caribbean. We also saw the big bug statues and did the troll scavenger hunt, which the kids really enjoyed.

Fabulous gardens!!! Peaceful and beautiful.

By chouettecolette |

We loved this beautiful peaceful place… always discovering something new! This is our third time here. The App was helpful but last time we went on the bus tour which was also very informative.

Defeated and lost 😞

By TravelingOYEster |

I really wanted to enjoy this place. It felt like a maze. The trams are super small and it’s not accommodating to anyone who wants to get off (not handicapped or child friendly). It would be hard to push a stroller in some areas - and there weren’t many clear signs so we had NO IDEA where we were (map wasn’t helpful and the staff was clearly overwhelmed as folks were not happy as they couldn’t get on the trams / too crowded). I didn’t get to see more than 1/2 of the things I was looking forward to seeing as I couldn’t find them. As my kiddo got way too tired, we left after 1.5 hours. I would suggest they do round the clock tram stops as this place felt impossible to tackle. I’d love to go back - but only if they make golf carts available to rent or something…

Great gardens if you like entitled Boomers.

By Renee B |

Waited for the hourly tram for 30 minutes along with a few others. A gaggle of aforementioned entitled Boomers saw the queue and must've said "screw that", because when the tram did arrive they barely let the departing guests off before swarming it like a locust plague, leaving everyone who had been waiting for a long time without a seat and out of luck until the NEXT hourly tram. Utterly unbelievable behavior. The volunteer docent did try feebly to ask people to give up their seats, but that just wasn't going to happen with this rude crowd (also a terrible responsibility to foist onto non-paid personnel, what the heck Fairchild?). This was 1p on a Thursday, so not even prime time. Either run more trams or find a way to have an actual line so this doesn't happen to more folks or if you can't do that, PAY the person instead of relying on the goodwill of your volunteers? There's no honor system with some of these old boomers. These gardens were supposed to be the highlight of our trip to Florida and the latest in a long string of memberships for gardens across the country; no bloody way am I giving them another dime. Regretting that I looked forward to this place.

Beautiful setting, plants, and butterfly garden

By Gail T |

We arrived in time for a little tram tour of the grounds, with the guide pointing out interesting plants, including the fact that there are 2,000 species of palms in the world. We saw a big alligator resting on one of the lake shores and really enjoyed the lovely butterflies in their garden. There were many dedicated and knowledgeable volunteers who answered lots of questions. The isit gave us a greater appreciation of botanical gardens.

Super!

By Jenny G |

We spent a very nice day looking for all the dinosaurs the kids loved. Besides that the natural environment is too beautiful ❤️

Fabulous gardens

By Middlemiss |

There are 82 acres, but do not worry they have a bus/trolley going round giving a guided tour. Best to do this first, then you can chose where to go back too walking. There are water stations and two cafes to keep you going. Its trees many with flowers that delight the eye. You need nearly a day to do it justice. Good place for children to run round. Most of the hosts are volunteers with such enthusiasm.

Don't miss it! This place is great.

By Laurie D |

I can't believe I have lived here for 8 years before finding Fairchild Gardens. It is not your run-of-the-mill garden. They have festivals several times a year that are top notch! The restaurant in the garden has a great lunch and snacks with very healthy options. You will have to see the butterfly farm. You won't believe it. Plan on spending a least a few hours and bring home something from their incredible gift shop.

Wait till all attractions reopen

By Cat30 |

This has never been a reasonably priced attraction in Miami however it is worse with COVID restrictions in place. The only thing to do is walk the paths. The butterfly area is not open which is really the only reason to visit this place. It is a disgrace that they refuse to allow a limited number of people to enter into the attractions. They don’t want to employ a person to monitor the attractions. Instead they would prefer to hire people who sit in a chair with their heads buried in a phone by the rainforest area.

Do Not Visit the NIght Garden 2022

By BJCKMD |

This was a total disappointment for a new member. Overrun with kids, no chance to soak in the sights, ...unattended kids chasing bubbles in main thoroughfare, running into other guests and very very overcrowded. Employees with flash lights pushing you through ....like TSA lines... No peace....I would recommend Santa Enchanted forest for the chaos. Not the fairchild gardens I remember...ie. Chihuly, etc. (Also, your pre-recorded phone line says there are wheelchairs available...4 staff members seemed baffled by this request for my mother...none available)
Sorry to have to report this....but skip this event...the value isn't there.

Enchanted perfection!

By Delia F |

The Orchid Festival is always a huge success. This year was perfection… from the minute you drove in, you noticed how well organized, friendly and knowledgeable staff and volunteers , impeccable venue, delicious food and drinks for all types of needs. The selection of quality products and variety of vendors was outstanding. The art exposition and entertainment/ music very well selected.
Worth every penny we spent. Thank you for the detailed planning and the excellent work!

Added fee

By Laura P |

I bought my tickets on site.
After my purchase I noticed the total amount was higher than the posted price. I asked the cashier why? He said a $5.00 conservation fee was added.
I feel patrons should be advised of this fee in advance and it should be an option, not added to the ticket price automatically.

Wedding Ceremony

By Mr. & Mrs. Perry |

My wife and I recently got married and we had our ceremony at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. We live in Wisconson and planning a wedding over 1500 miles away is not easy. We had the pleasure of working with Lori S, which she answered every question we had, took pics of the areas in question and emailed it over, and worked with us throughout the entire process. Lori is patient, has great customer service, great attention to detail and offers great advice for the ceremony. During the ceremony, Lori help keep the ceremony on track. After the ceremony, Lori took me, my wife and the photographer around the beautiful garden for amazing memorable pictures. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is an amazing place run by amazing people. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place for events, pictures, or even just for a walkthrough for the beautiful scenery. The reaction from friends and family that attended our ceremony was priceless. Our pictures speak a thousand words! Thank you so much, Lori, for everything-you play a major role in the company and they are very fortunate to have you.

Tram is not running because of covid!

By Wendy E |

These are 80 beautiful acres! Be aware that the tram is not currently running (covid), yet they are still charging full admission. The 45 minute tram ride would have been a lovely overview.
Also know this is almost entirely outside and may be very warm/buggy for some folks.

Palm trees and more

By rogerjm |

We were on a tour ride through the garden and loved hearing about all the different plants and trees. Palm trees everywhere. Loved the butterfly house. It alone is easily worth an hour or more.

Beautiful Garden!

By AprilFool27 |

We spent about 2.5 hours at the garden and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There are a large number of all sorts of tropical plants and trees. I especially liked the flowering plants. They also have a butterfly house with a chrysalis on display. We also saw large number of iguanas roaming around the area. We had lunch the cafe and it was good. My only negative comment is that I would have liked more signage on the plants. They were getting ready for a night exhibit with lights being added to the garden. I think it will look impressive. I highly recommend if you like botanical gardens.

The best place for relaxing and enjoy nature

By jeffyss2019 |

Quite, relaxing, peaceful. This is a great place to relax and spend time thinking, meditating or even just walk and enjoy the nature.

Nice park

By Run_ar0und |

Nice, great visit, relaxing. Great walk. Entrance price is $24.99, free parking. Would return. Entrance price could be lower. There are benches around the park, can add a few more for people to sit and relax.

Great garden, magical butterfly exhibit

By Aryeh B |

Went 1/24/19 with family - grandparents to 4 year old child. Going into the butterfly pavilion is like stepping into some other world out of a dreamscape. Could have gotten lost for hours (in a good way).

Night garden is stunning

By Jay D |

Look for the night garden fairy app before you go, it was well laid out with plenty of guides to help you along, the talking tree was especially funny. Have you ever been to Avatar Land in animal kingdom, it is similar to that style of glowing gardens...

A delightful night out

By Michael W |

We took the opportunity to visit the Fairchild Gardens, which we had visited before, for their famed Nightgarden which is an extravaganza of light and sound illustrating the beauty and grandeur of the gardens when seen by an intricate maze of lights and interesting music. We went early to avoid the crowds but when we left the quques were frightening, so do go very early to allow you to park and walk back to the entry without needing oxygen.

There was so much to see and there were special features for young children including a singing tree and several fairies to be found in the trees!

Some people complained that wheelchair access was not easy but we thought that given the venue a special effort had been made to accommodate disable users. There were lots of staff to help out and plenty of food & drink trucks if you needed sustenance.
A little pricey at $28 a head but discounts were available if you looked especially on Groupon.

Botanical beauty in Coral Gables

Very worthwhile trip for a few hours. Watch out for the iguanas! Bring water and your camera. Enjoy the nature.

Not just the Mango Festival - Fairchild is a year round attraction.

By Gustavo D |

Loved walking around the grounds. It's like a section of preserved Miami land. Amazing setting, you have to see it at least once, preferably annually!

Do not visit the night garden!

By S2000STEALTHBOX |

Please save your money and don't go. I have been to Fairchild Gardens many times and it's normally a lovely place to visit. The festival's are all great (mango, chocolate, orchid). However, I do not recommend the night garden event. First of all, it was $88 for 4 of us on groupon. Pretty pricey. But that would have been fine if there was anything to see. The whole exhibit took us 20-25 minutes to do and this was with a stroller and a five year old. A normal couple could walk thru the entire event in 15-20 minutes. It was muddy and the pathways were not lit up nicely. Also the night we went 12/21, there was no talking tree! We asked an employee and she said it was broken. Really? The talking tree was advertised everywhere and we hyped it up to our 5 year old so that was a total disappointment. We went thru the whole exhibit a second time thinking we missed something, but no we didn't.
Also this event was advertised as as holiday event and it has nothing to do with the holidays. No music, lights, Nothing. So don't go expecting any holiday festivities.

Beautiful South Florida day in lush gardens and surrounded flittering butterflies

By agnesr924 |

Recently put my hands on a Fairchild family pass that my eldest daughter had won through an art competition. So while on Christmas break we decided to go visit FTG after not having been in several years.

The gardens are 5 miles from our home and we probably drive by once a week, and we did have a family membership many years ago when our girls were younger (the tram ride was always fun).

Now with teenagers and no tram ride we were still impressed with the beautiful gardens, the scenic water/lake views, Chihuly art, sculptures, the cafe food selection and especially the butterfly garden. Exciting for all ages. We saw a hummingbird inside the butterfly enclosure and a crocodile in ther lake.

A special tropical garden

By Herb M |

We visit Fairchild every year on our trip to Florida, and we visited this year while staying nearby. Fairchild usually exceeds my expectations - I forget from year to year what a great place it is. This year we first visited the desert collection, and the nearby large pergola with plants. Then we walked along the stream with tropical rain forest loaded with orchids on the trees - beautiful. We stopped for coffee at the cafe nearby, then into the butterfly house where we spent considerable time and enjoyed it. I even sat down and just watched the display flying around me. We then walked further away along the ponds, and made our way back to the entrance. You can spend 2 hours here or 3 or many more. Some people take the tram but we enjoy walking.

So fun !

By Sarah Marie Lyn |

Absolutely stunning botanical garden !
Butterfly house was also AMAZING .
You could spend the whole day here .
Handicap accessible . Plenty of parking in different locations / entrances . I would recommend going early .
They do have a cafe for lunch was reasonably priced food .
I would love to return for the night show !

Amazing

By sydney |

The best botanical garden I have ever been to. We saw lizards, crocodiles, fish, and birds. The butterfly garden was amazing, definitely wish we could’ve stayed there all day. The ticket price and cafe prices were a little high but that’s ok because it was beautiful.

Fantastic day trip

By Lew L |

Probably one of my best gardens I have been to. Starting with the 40 minute tram to the gift shop every thing was perfect. They even supplied us with a tram ride to the cafe at lunchtime. The food at the cafe was better than I expected. We were there from 10:45 to 3:30 and could have spent another 5 hours enjoying it.

Amazing tropical gardens

By Jim R |

Amazing international blend of trees, rainforest, lakes, manmade columned floral and vegetation tunnels. Need 6-8 hours to see it all.

Beautiful Garden

By Florida to Canada |

My mom and I visited for our birthdays. We are avid gardeners that have visited a lot of gardens, and we found the grounds beautifully. Some very unique plants as well as a small butterfly emporium. A few things could have improved the experience. 1. The gift shop is mediocre. 2. More seating throughout the grounds- rough if you need to stop and sit. 3. A better map. As a first time visitor, the map provided was impossible. 4. Labeling of the areas and plants needs improvement. We did meet some members walking around and they were very nice and helpful!

Very informative experience

By DayTrip61643659497 |

Superb time with family and very welcoming staff. The plants are really beautiful and organize me at the top.

Don't bother now, a waste of time

By garybirder |

During COVID precautions, all buildings at Fairchild are closed. This includes the gift shop, welcome center, and greenhouses and nurseries with exhibits such as rare plants, tropical fruits, etc. Note that, on the day of my tour, their web page still said the welcome center and gift shop was open, so don't go by that info. No tour either. We can walk the garden on your own, but the garden was not set up for this, just for tours. So there are very few labels on plants, no descriptions. So you can see the plants but no background or context. Even the map of the pathways (one-way) is pretty basic. I would not recommend a visit during this period. At the very least, call yto see what is open to avoid disappoinment..

Amazing gardens!!

By ladybugs-mommy |

My husband and I absolutely loved our trip to the gardens. It was gorgeous. The food at the cafe was amazing (seriously, the homemade mango strawberry ice cream is the best I’ve ever had!). Sit in the air conditioning and watch the butterflies out the window while you enjoy some delicious food.
We saw dozens of iguanas and other lizards. There were lots of benches throughout the gardens. We had a very peaceful day walking around the gardens. I loved the rainforest section with the mist and waterfalls. I also loved the butterfly habitat. The drive to the gardens was even beautiful.
Highly recommend!!

Amazing botanic garden

By Mermaid La Loquita |

I like visiting botanic gardens (spent my childhood in my family's glasshouses with flowers :) and this one is really impressive. One if the best I've been to. Had a great time there. I recommend to everyone who enjoy relaxing walks amidst nature.

beautiful gardens and butterfly house

By Alan W |

Senior couple. Walked thru the beautiful gardens. Especially enjoyed visiting the butterfly house with many varities of butterflies.

Fantastic! Wish masks were gone!

By mwooduk |

Fantastic morning and lunch at Fairchild albeit I think having to wear a mask outdoors when you can easily social distance is a bit weird but it is what it is...... Hope it changes soon. Lots of plants flowering and the butterfly garden was super. Lovely weather and gorgeous vistas.

Beautiful scenery

By Michelle R |

The gardens here were beautiful and the walking paths all well maintained. There was a lot to see and neat Lego sculptures throughout. The Cafe was nice I had a mango smoothie that was delicious. My only negative was that the staff was very unfriendly. I was literally ran off the path by a tram (he had plenty of space but still I had to step into the grass not to get hit). I walk past many employees that didn't even acknowledge my existence and I tried to see the butterflies but couldn't get in, even though there were 2 employees sitting at the entrance who were just ignoring myself and others. Then as I was leaving I overheard someone in the shop give new arrivals directions to the butterflies.

Overall I enjoyed myself and I would return but customer service needs a little work.

A beautiful sanctuary

By Catherine M |

Fairchild Tropical Gardens is one of my favorite places. Not only are there beautiful flowers, but also butterflies and plenty of beautiful trees. I love going and having a peaceful lunch from the cafe. The gift shop also has very special and unique items.

If you’re looking for a little peace in crazy city

By Suzana |

It’s definitely amazing to go on sunny day and not too hot, so I would guess some time between December and March would be perfect. Entry is $25 for adults.
Personal recommendation - you should ask for clarification of your location when you enter because there are several entrances and map is not entirely clear. Butterfly Garden is a must see, but make sure you call in advance and ask if they are letting them out that day when you want to visit because it’s not same every time.
Definitely educational as well. If you have a baby you can make some super cute photos with butterflies. Orchids are placed beautifully by the small stream.
Worth to
Visit if you’re in Miami but it’s not hot enough to go to the beach :)

REPEAT AS OFTEN AS YOU CAN!

By Mel L |

This is our 2nd visit, and I am sure no two visits are the same as seasonal changes provide a different experience every time!! The butterfly garden is magical! The orchids are glorious. What a labor of love from all the volunteers who work tirelessly to keep the property immaculate, and all the plants trimmed/shaped/pruned so something is always in bloom. Even if it is hot out, you can be in and out of shaded areas. Also they offer benches in areas AND a tram/cart to get you around. And water stations!! THANK YOU

Night Lights at Fairchild

By Douglas T |

Fairchild is fabulous during the day but the night lights give the trees, orchids and plants a magical look. Photographs look like Jurassic Park. Parking was not great since heavy rain left lots of mud and puddles.

This is such an amazing park. I have been during the day and I just love it. But at night is just amazingly beautiful. Very organized. Super clean. People who works there are very friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Terrible

By Ross C |

This is one of the worst things I’ve ever done in my life. I go every year to look at Christmas lights. There wasn’t even any lights. We weren’t proud. There were huge lines. It wasn’t worth the wait or the money.

This is one of my favorite places to be in miami. From the beauty of the facility to the butterfly garden. I feel at peace and happy!! They have cool exhibits and a great membership deal! See you tomorrow

Night Garden

By Gladesgirl09 |

On January 5th my husband and i went to the Night Garden at fairchild. My goodness what a sight to behold. It was so beautiful how they light up the garden with lasers and lights. At one point there is even a hologram that talks to you. For the two of us it was a very romantic ambiance. It is a family friendly place..for people of all ages. And the bonus was you get to go around the garden as many times as you'd like. This was our first time visiting the botanical garden and we can not wait to be able to visit during the day. If the Night Garden was spectacular we can only imagine how it must be during the day when all the exhibits are open.

Lovely Oasis

By Keega16 |

Lovely oasis in the middle of a large city. I have been to Miami many times and never new this existed. It is really a gem. We did the tour and it was very helpful as there is so much information and ground to cover. So many interesting plants and beautiful art along the way. Particularly fascinating to see all the plants that make their homes in the trees. An the orchids are spectacular.

In love with this tropical paradise

By CristinaMittermeier |

You don't have to be a botanist or even a plant lover to fall in love with this Floridian treasure. A simple stroll through the orchid garden restored my faith and fed my soul. Such beauty in a lovely, peaceful, and somehow really fun place.

A really beautiful garden

By hectorfrommiami |

I went to take pictures of the Dragons' exhibit, and even with my bottle of water and walking slower then usual, I sweated so much that it looks like I got under a shower. But no matter what, I enjoyed the gardens, the dragons and as I was there by the time they opened, not too many people, so I could take my photos without major interruptions

This is a beautiful place. Tram tour is a must. The driver was very knowledgeable.

By Freddy S |

This is one of the best botanical gardens that I have had the pleasure of going to. The Tram ride is a must . Our driver was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions.

Extensive garden..go visit during..

By tymetraveler222 |

TripAdvisor provides an excellent description of this wonderful garden and botanic center. So many thorough reviews already written. A good website provided by the garden is available. Thus, I'm only going to touch on a few basics.

All pathways are handicap accessible. Paved, grass, or dirt. Water fountains and water stations through out. There is a free narrated tram tour!

The NightGarden is a special show offered around the Christmas holidays. This wonderful light and special effect show is an absolute delight! It is extremely popular. It makes the botanicals seem ethereal. Fairies dance and fly around flower exhibits, palm trees and other greenery. Acres and acres of lights, but the fairies bring the wonder of magic! Just beautiful.

Highly recommend!

Lovely, well maintained gardens

By Hendersongal |

So glad I heard about this beautiful place when planning a trip to visit family in Southern Florida. After living in the desert for 20+ years, it's always refreshing to see such lush landscaping. The grounds are beautiful and extremely well manicured. We really enjoyed the rain forest area, which was maintained by many misters. The orchids were fantastic. The butterfly enclosure was fun, as always and we enjoyed the tram tour, which was led by an incredibly knowledgeable volunteer. We are fans of Chihuly artwork and were pleased to find a few glass sculptures throughout the grounds.

As others have mentioned, there not a lot of seating throughout so plan accordingly. Also, not always shade so bring a hat and sunscreen.

Beautiful garden! And the volunteers are so helpful and friendly. Many thanks to pat alter who have us a private tour around the garden. She's the best :)

Handicapped Unfriendly!

By Disappointed |

I have given this event a 1, because a 0 was unavailable. Although my nephew and I were eagerly anticipating seeing the Night Garden at Fairchild Gardens, we were greatly disappointed. We went Thursday night, December 6, 2018. I walk with a walker, and I found that the way the event was designed was totally unacceptable for the handicapped. The event planners designed the walkway over grass that had holes in it. It was impossible to see the holes because of the poor lighting, making it impossible to navigate with a walker. We had to leave without seeing hardly anything of the Night Garden. Please be advised that this event was not designed by Fairchild Gardens, even though it was held there. Fairchild Gardens has plenty of walkways that are handicapped accessible, but Night Garden did not use these. Exiting the Gardens was even difficult by car because of the horrible lighting.

Peaceful paradise in the hectic city

By Che P |

Peaceful Paradise is the middle of the city. Diverse trees and plants. All kinds of animals. Very well organized zones. Great for kids, adults and couples.

Lovely

By GypsyTraveller94 |

A nice choice for a relaxing Saturday. Take the tram first to get an overview. There are areas of the garden under construction, where the tram cannot go, but it makes for a nice 3 hour visit. Mango gazpacho at the cafe was amazing.

What a Remarkable Place

By ljcbh |

There is a tram ride to the distant part of the gardens. The butterfly exhibit was outstanding with butterflies all around you. There are several buildings with beautiful displays. Walking was delightful since there are many trees providing shade. The 8 lakes provide wonderful views. Clearly one of the nicest places to visit featuring a varied assortment of palm trees. Well worth a visit

Simply magical!!

By Shira K |

Wow, wow, wow! What a stunning gem! Fairchild showcases thousands of absolutely gorgeous plant species that are meticulously maintained. I truly felt like I was walking through paradise on earth! The butterfly garden was the highlight of my visit, offering a spectacular experience with butterflies of all sizes and colors—blue, green, orange, yellow, and iridescent.
The rainforest area was beautifully done, and the lakes with palm trees were exceptionally picturesque. I even spotted an American crocodile (not an alligator) snoozing under a bench, which was slightly terrifying but a unique sight nonetheless! There are also many fruit trees, such as starfruit, banana, fig, and papaya, which I spotted. The staff is very helpful and friendly, and there is a great gift shop.
I walked away feeling humbled by G-D's majesty. I cannot recommend this place enough, and I hope to be back on my next trip to South Florida! I am so glad I heard about Fairchild!

Work on bringing back early entrance!

By Christopher T |

It was a good experience.Overall, I just don't like the fact that you guys open So late, it cuts my day in half.I remember years back when you used to open earlier.Bring back those days! I know that you guys offer early entrance on tuesdays. But like most of us, we are working and only available to go on the weekends.

Equatorial Engagements

By Michael Wysocki |

I wonder, Miami could possibly have the Worlds most diverse number of Tropical Palms through out the city. It has the correct climate for any Tropical exotic, but with the means and the money to import and plant.
Here at the Fairchild Tropical Garden, they are on full display for us.
I was hired to take some engagement photographs inside, that went really well, but I stayed and explored until hunger mad me leave. Bring a snack if you plan to stay long as the concessions are limited, and of course as always, do NOT feed the wildlife.

It may be named a Botanical Garden, but this expansive area in the center on the city of Coral Gables, felt more like a nature preserve than a garden to me. Near the welcome center, it is landscaped lovely and particularly cared for, but much of the rest feels like you are able to take a walkabout around the equator. Magnificent trees that you can imagine in a jungle, would support many other species. Exotic palms I've never seen before with fruits gushing out from their hearts. A big and endangered wild American Crocodile has taken up residency in the area. He/she lives a very calm and quite existence, leave him to that. Meanwhile the many different species of lizards seem to play games with the visitors.

I tried the train but I got off at the first stop. It's not really my style but I thought I would learn some thing from the driver/ speaker. All I got really though was a face full of exhaust. I'm sure they don't have the money to just upgrade the train to cleaner energy, but the day that happens will be a good day at the park for the visitors and plant/ animal residence. They do have an extended golf cart that tours in other languages, which seemed like a nice experience.

I slept very well that night and woke up in a peaceful state, thanks to this space of such soothing beauty. Thank You, I would love to go back.

Great gardens, disorganized process

By SimbaTheExplorer |

This is a mixed review. The gardens themselves are some of the most beautiful in the world. The tram tour was excellent. I would have rated this a 5 except I am rating the organization a 1. It was very unorganized when we entered. We were charged incorrectly and had to wait for a refund. The expedition program was disorganized. They could not find the pieces to the program. Then when we finally started the expedition using the map, it was so confusing as to where to go. We gave up. Then we decided to go on the tram tour. There was no one to operate it. We, along with others, were waiting for at least 15 minutes until someone showed up. It was worth the wait but it just shows how unorganized this place is. The tram driver said they are run by over 1000 volunteers and it’s hard to get weekend volunteers. Given this, it understandable but still, this is a very expensive tourist attraction and it would be nice if they got their act together. It is an amazing place. I still recommend it but I want to set expectations.

Magical Place

What a great way to spend a day. Butterfly house is spectacular. Great cafe. The drive down Old Cuttler road is amazing.

Night Garden: a tad disappointing

By Aussie Wannabe |

I guess I was expecting more, way more. We've been to Christmas lights displays all over North America and so since we had a free evening in Miami, I thought we'd give Night Gardens a try, having heard great things about the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. I guess I was simply expecting more, it sort of left me indifferent, underwhelmed maybe? To me, not really worth the price, the time, or the $12 Valet parking charge. But that's just me. There were lots of people there, so maybe it's just me.

Beautiful Gardens with Many Cool Plants

By FurCannon |

TL;DR:
If you're into botany of any kind, you will love this place. It is a beautiful, the staff are well-informed, and you have a decent chance to see wildlife (at least the big invasive green iguanas). It will be hot though and full of bugs, so bring sunscreen and bug repellent. Also it wasn't very crowded despite going on a holiday, so you don't have to worry too much about lines or crowding. Spent about 5 hours here just walking around and getting photos.

Travel Tips:
• Bring ways to protect yourself from the sun and heat. These could be sunscreen, umbrellas, long pants or shirts, fans, etc. This is exclusively outside in the Florida heat and humidity and you might be far away from indoor access.
• Bring portable water bottles. They have water refill stations at their cafes or other physical buildings, but you will get thirsty.
• Treat the experience like you're going on a hike. Wear comfortable shoes and expect a lot of walking. Check the weather in advance and be prepared for rain or wet conditions.
• They do have stuff for kids like scavenger hunts and the butterfly garden, but most things right now are tailored for insect-loving kids. If your kids don't like plants, insects, or the outside, they might be bored.
• Go on the tram tour, as it is free with your ticket purchase and it gives you a tour of the whole facility with lots of cool facts. Helps you see everything without worrying about walking to it. It is hard if you want to take pictures though.

The Plants:
They have lots of unique and beautiful trees and flowers at the facility. Not only do they have a couple of rare trees, but they are also partnering with NASA to see what can grow as a food source in space and get the largest collection of orchids in the world. Many flowers were in bloom when we went and they have signage telling you the common and scientific name of most plants near the plant. My only gripe is that there isn't a lot of signage around fun facts of the plants. If you actually want to learn about them, the tram tour was the best option. Maybe they have more information online or elsewhere, but I would frequently look at a plant and not know much else about it.

The Animals:
We got to see a ton of reptile wildlife (sadly most of which are invasive) and a couple of birds. We went on a cooler, slightly overcast day, but it did rain and most animals like to hide when it rains. They don't really have alligators here, only crocodiles, and apparently winter is the best time to see them because they mostly hide in the water. I didn't really get to see many birds, but I wasn't actively looking in the trees too much. Most creatures you'll see are on the ground or at eye level. They do have a butterfly garden that was ok. It's pretty, but the butterflies like to hide during the hottest points of the day and so seeing any flying around or with their wings open was a bit difficult. They do have a cocoon viewing window, so you at least get to see them freshly hatched. If you're going there predominantly to see the butterflies, call the place to figure out the best time to see them.

Definitely worth a visit!

By D R |

Went here with my mom and had a great time. Took us about 3 1/2 hours to walk around this place (slow walking)It is a beautiful garden to take tons of pictures. They have a butterfly house, where they just fly around you! Very unique experience. Bathrooms are spotless. Will definitely recommend this place.

A great spot to spend the day.

By James Weaver |

Beautiful landscapes to view, a great restaurant for lunch! Now it is only accessible by on line ticketing, no walk ups to the box office which is closed. Wild fowl, lakes, Post Office Stamps honoring LA FLORIDA.

What an amazing collection of tropical plants!

By SUE H |

This was our first visit to these gardens and they were very nice. Some of the plants are huge and when you stand next to them you think you are in a Sci-Fi movie! There are paths with signage and a variety of plants and ponds to view. Excellent photo opportunities. We also attended their night time light show; very interesting.

Great butterfly house and pleasant gardens

By DJ59 |

The butterfly house was definitely our highlight. Wonderful enclosed space with many species of butterfly flying around so got some great photos.
The botanical gardens are pleasant but not amazing. I live in the UK so was comparing it to Kew Gardens which are world class so maybe a little unfair.
At $25 it is expensive and the cafe was ordinary so wished we’d taken a picnic

Lovely garden and nice cafe

By LAW64 |

This is a lovely large botanical garden and a great place to go for a long walk with lovely lakes and planting. We also enjoyed an excellent lunch at the cafe - the food was really good for this type of venue. Nice friendly staff. Recommended

A Special Place

By Michael P |

Lovely. This is one of my favorite spots in Miami and often overlooked! It has very good food and a nice bar and the kids will love the butterfly exhibit in particular. They also have festivals that have food booths. Plan for the nicer months and go. It’s a tropical garden as they promise. It’s wonderful!

Beautiful Botanical Garden

By Tea S |

This was a wonderful place to spend the day with my parents when they came to visit me. I would recommend going on a day that is cooler or overcast, as there is not a lot of shade. The plants and wildlife at the botanical gardens are beautiful and it is a great way to spend the day looking at unique tropical plants.

Phenomenal Experience

By Jerry B |

Great, One of a Kind experience. Recommend you ride the free tram first to get a lay of the land and see what's out there. The drivers all give a very detailed description of the various plants and trees as you drive by. There were Iguanas all over the place. In some areas we thought we were on the set of Jurassic Park. There are very large ponds on the property and you might see the alligator. We were fortunate and saw him going after a bird on the shore of an island. There are orchids galore. Plus there's a butterfly experience inside a huge atrium. They will place a newly hatched butterfly in your hand if you wish. The whole place is over the top.

A Beautiful Botanical Garden

By CarpeDiem0212 |

My wife and I were here during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The gardens were vast and beautiful. We got there early when it opened beacuse we knew the crowds would pick up later. Once we entered the gardens, we took the tram ride around the entire gardens. Nancy was our guide and she did a great tour highlighting many of the sights and special trees and gardens. We then decided to walk to those areas that we wanted to explore further. .
We loved the butterfly area, the orchid gardens, the infinity view area and all the various sections of the park. We did see many iguanas, birds, turtles and even a crocodile while we were there. We stayed about three hours and really enjoyed the gardens and all its beauty.
We highly recommend this garden for its grandeur, beauty and all those amazing trees, plants and flowers. It was an Amazing day at the Fairchild. Thank YOU!

Beautiful gardens and butterfly house

By JMar604 |

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to these gardens. Although the tram wasn't operating that day, we were able to walk the whole grounds. You're given a map and a "what's blooming" guide when you pay the entrance fee. It was fun looking for and identifying what we were seeing. The Butterfly house was well done. Lots of butterflies and there were even hummingbirds. Quite hot inside there but worth the heat!

Fairchild Botanical Garden

By Robert W |

The trails were our great and the plants were amazing. The tropical rare plants building was really cool. They had 3 crocodiles present that we saw. The butterfly room was really nice as well. We thought the price was a bit high for the experience, but we would recommend still; checking this out. The entrance road was awesome as well. You drive under a Banyan Tree Canopy that is several blocks long.

Beautiful garden

By James M |

This botanical garden is absolutely beautiful, perfectly maintained and perfect for a relaxing stroll. I have visited several times on my trips to Miami and have never been disappointed. For anyone who loves gardens, I agree that this is a beautiful little gem.

Ahh how I love a good Avatar jungle for the holidays.

By eldfort |

2019, Night Garden, FANTASTIC! 2022, DISAPPOINTMENT!! Paid actual money after family came from Ohio to see this. Hyped it up about the thousands of lights we were going to see on sculptures type decorations. Then drove in rush hour traffic at 530pm. Woohoo couldn't wait. I was so embarrassed. We walked thru a partially lit Avatar sounding jungle. Then I saw another path. Yay!! There was a path with one butterfly area. Oh boy, here we go. Wait, there's the food court we just left. That was it. Asked an employee where the fabulous lights were. Did we miss the path maybe, please say yes. Nope, he said people complained it was too long. What? A total waste. My neighborhood has better decorations. Please go to the zoo lights. Not here.

Well worththe entrance fee!

By Johanna K |

The entrance fee is $25, which is probably a little steep for some people, but - bring a picnic and have a wonderful day!

The fee includes a tram tour that leave on the hour. The tram driver narrates the tour, talking about different plants and the history of the park.

My favorites exhibits were (in no particular order): the Madagascar flora, the rainforest exhibit, the native Florida butterfly garden, and the butterflies of the world exhibit.

I could spend the whole day here just enjoying nature. There are also a ton of huge lizards all over the 83 acres of space!

An amazing place

By rrobau |

When in Miami, do not miss visiting Fairchild Tropical Garden...it is an oasis of tranquillity, truly an amazing place. Great volunteers answers your questions, and they never fail to show you secret views and places. Fairchild Garden has incredible exhibitions combining art and flowers with outstanding views to the ocean.
Lunch at their cafe is wonderful
Getting there is wonderful, Old Cutler road is beautiful, you will see magnificent homes amongst centenary trees...
We have been lucky to be invited to weddings at Fairchild...absolutely wonderful setting!

Wonderful!

By billjack333 |

We went for the first time about 3 years ago. After our visit, we immediately converted our day pass to a membership. We have been members since.

Day or night, any time of year there is something new and beautiful to see. It is a joy just to wander the gardens and take in the fragrances and awesome views in almost any direction you look.

The events are great and we look forward to both the Chocolate and Orchid Festivals each year. We attended the Night Garden twice this year and brought several friends for the second trip. It was my wife's birthday and she chose to spend it at the gardens.

My only "complaint" is that the coffee is not the best but all of the rest more than makes up for that.

Highly recommended!!

So beautiful

By Maren Z |

When we showed up there they had a Orchid sale Saturday. Hundreds and hundreds of Orchids. My husband was in heaven.the Whole garden is worth a visit and walk through.

Possibly the best Garden in Miami…

By Terrence |

This place is massive and covers multiple interest of nature enthusiasts. Tickets were half price in August. It was very hot, but there are plenty of areas to cool off. If you love orchids, this place has you covered, but in August a lot we’re not in bloom (I was still satisfied). There is an outdoor butterfly garden and an indoor Butterfly Conservatory. The plant selection is large, the design and architecture is well done. We arrived at 2pm and the place closes at 4. This was our second botanical garden of the day. I can see how you may need more than 2 hours to cover this place. I can’t imagine what spring is like or the cooler winter months. The outdoor created rainforest and waterfalls was outstanding.

An exceptional Secret Garden!

By Adiley C |

Perfect trail to dive in nature! Awesome collection of botanical treasures, cozy benches along the entire path allow you to enjoy the wonders of the natural world like never before.

Wonderful garden and butterfly habitat

By Sharon R |

We like walking and what better place to do it than this beautiful garden in Coral Gables. They seemed to specialize in orchids and there were some beautiful displays. The tropical rain forest is very lush. The butterfly habitat was really great with some spectacular one flying all around you. You can even have one sit on your arm for pictures. Altogether, a lovely day.

An enjoyable visit

By Gardengel-IoW |

Lovely visit here. Good welcome at the ticket desk and information about the trolley and suggested route to walk. Our hotel concierge recommended we take the trolley ride around the property and we are glad we did. This takes about 45 minutes, and the driver/guide gave a good commentary. It took us right out to the end of the grounds and lake that we wouldn’t have got to as too hot to walk for too long, and we saw a crocodile lazing in the sun, pretty big one too.
Be prepared for the trolley, it is included in the entrance fee. However, it only takes 12 or 13 people at a time and only leaves once an hour. This was not enough for the number of visitors on the day we were there. So, get to the waiting point in plenty of time. You are not allowed off the trolley enroute, so it is difficult to fully appreciate some of the trees spoken about but was still worth doing.
The grounds were very green with a large manmade lake. Lots of mature trees of many varieties, it being a botanical collection. Not an awful lot of colour on our visit, a few gingers. The glass houses were ok but not wonderful. The butterfly house was a nice addition but only a couple of species. There were two good pieces of Chihuly glass too see around here and other sculptures around the grounds. The café is also near the glass houses. There was indoor and outdoor seating but you had to order and pick up the food from the kiosk outside.
Overall a good visit but maybe a shame the highlight was seeing the croc, numerous lizards and several iguanas, including a very large one near the trolly stop. Some amazingly large stag horn ferns hanging from trees as well as bromeliads and other epiphytes.
A good 3-4 hours especially if doing the trolley and café. It was about $27 each way by Lyft from Coral Gables.

Beautiful and peaceful

By Kelly B |

I’ve been to several various gardens over the years. This one is my favorite so far.

It’s quite big; plan for several hours if you want to see everything. My favorite section was the area where they currently have the dragon display: a grassy lawn with big palm trees. I also loved the lake area (look for American crocodiles! Yes, crocs, not alligators) and the rainforest. But, really, the entire place is incredible.

They currently have a neat animatronic dragon display , geared towards kids but honestly really cool for adults, too.

A Mini Caribbean getaway

By Sheila J |

My husband and I attended the Caribbean festival. We had a wonderful time, sampling the food and enjoying the live music. We’ll definitely come back next year and attend other festivals.

Highly recommend a visit

By BillGibson1 |

Location is convenient to downtown Miami. The grounds are beautiful, of course. You can walk through a small rainforest, see all sorts of interesting plants. There are lizards of all sizes running around. The gardens aren't too huge, you can walk around the entire thing in less than 2 hours. Basically, take as long as you like to see what you want. I visit here almost every time I come to Miami.

The night show was nice for the kids

By Stef |

Very nice grounds with very well decored atmosphere. The scavenger hunt games kept the kids interested as well as the various lights. Parking was not great.

Lovely gardens

By marg |

Loved the gardens and the orchid festival. Catering pretty good. Only downside was music in orchid festival was a bit too loud and detracted from the otherwise peaceful aspects of the garden

Beautiful Oasis in the big city

Not-to-be-missed Gardens for Plant Lovers

By 1Rahhalatun |

There are a few things to quibble about here: For example, the plants are organized by species / type of plant rather than by ecosystem. Nonetheless, this is one of the great arboretums in the world to see a wide variety of tropical plants. I highly recommend. It is very well organized for people with mobility problems. Nearly everything is wheelchair accessible.

Nice but pricey

By Jinnah |

Very nice park. The $25 per person entry for only one time seems a little high I think. Maybe valid for 2 days would seem reasonable.

NICE TOUR (I give you details)

Amazing place to walk among nature, lagoons, rivers and forest. It's enjoyed by all ages. It's cheap. Tour of approximately 1.5 or 2 hours. There's a lot of wildlife. Easy to walk. I highly recommend it.

Have you smelled Mr. Stinky?

By Taylor B |

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables, Florida, is an 83-acre botanic garden with extensive collections of rare tropical plants, including palms, cycads, flowering trees, orchids, bromeliads and vines. In addition, Fairchild has the largest collection of tropical bamboo in the world with 125 species and features some of the world's most exotic tropical fruits from the Amazon, Borneo Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. Located at 10901 Old Cutler Road, south of Miami, surrounded at the north and west by Matheson Hammock Park, it is home to the only rain forest in the continental United States. Fairchild also is a museum, laboratory, learning center and conservation research facility whose main role is preserving biodiversity. In 2012, it became the home of the American Orchid Society. Fairchild's Tropical Flowering Trees collection displays over 740 species of flowering trees from all over the world, the most famous being the cannonball tree. One of the only cannonball trees in the United States, it was planted in 1938 and is known for its fragrance. Speaking of fragrance, did you smell the world's largest unbranched inflorescence, the Amorphophallus titanium? This specimen, which takes years to bloom, is affectionately called Mr. Stinky due to its foul odor. Elsewhere, a butterfly house called "Wings of the Tropics" features exotic butterflies mainly from South America, Central America and Southeast Asia flying freely in the 25,000-square-foot conservatory. If that isn't enough, since 2003 Fairchild has introduced art exhibits. New artists exhibit starting each December. Currently exhibits include works by Dale Chihuly, Daisy Youngblood, Freda Tschumy and Sicis.

Beautiful place to visit with impressive plants and trees. The trolley bus tour is very interesting and can't believe Monica is a volunteer, she is so knowledgeable, clever and friendly that she should be paid top dollars!
We also walked around a lot of the estate and found it easy to navigate with the provided map. There are lots of benches to sit and admire the lovely landscaping.

Beautiful area with lots to look at

By Sarah M |

Went here with some friends for the first time and it was beautiful. We got there early and went straight to the butterfly aviary since they are more active in the morning. I am so happy we did so because seeing the butterflies all around was amazing and there were so many different kinds. Afterwards we went to the orchid section which was very shady and had a variety of orchids and bromeliads in many different colors. Also keep your eyes peeled for different kinds of lizards including iguanas. The gift shop is very nice as well. Make sure to bring bug spray though especially for those wet shaded areas.

WASTE OF MONEY

By BonnyG123 |

I rarely write reviews but with this I sincerely feel ripped off!!!
$180 dls!!!! For family of 4
For a muddy stroll of 20-25 min. With NOTHING TO SEE!!!!!
My family, (2 teens) who normally enjoy nature walks and have visited Fairchild many times and love it…..were really shocked by the fact that there was actually nothing to see, only some lit plants and 2 “exhibits” the butterflies and some “colored iced cubed” that you couldn’t get closed to because they would tell you “ stay on the path”. That’s it, the other paths were just badly lit plants so basically you just saw nothing. Overcrowded, we went at 7:00 pm on the 30th and the 20 min we walked was mainly because so many people in front of us, we couldn’t walk. A few weeks back my family went to the ASIAN lantern festival at Central Zoo near Orlando….what a difference, well worth the money that’s why we thought this would be the same…..very disappointing. Save your money.

Magnificent Place to visit!!

By Marsha W |

It is a beautiful place and I enjoyed it very much. So much to see and enjoy. The tram tour is wonderful and you can see so much. The cafe is a delight and the food was good. You can see the butterfly garden while you eat. So many beautiful butterflies. Gift shop is lovely as well. If you like nature and plants you must go. It is spectacular.

28.00 dollars a ticket. For what?

By Thomas S |

Should have read the reviews before going. Totally unorganized event with basically nothing to see that takes about 20 minutes to walk through. How can they get away with a 28.00 dollar price tag??? I would have to say I have never felt SO RIPPED OFF in my entire life. (Which is saying something being from Miami) I bought people from out of town to this so called event and was totally embarrassed. I could go on about the parking but it's really not worth it. Save your money or spend it on something worthwhile because this is really bad. It's not even close to a one star review.

A day in the palms

By roberto-respighi |

Nice to spend a spring day strolling among the wonderful variety of plants and palms at Fairchild. Lunch was quite comfortable, and the butterfly exhibit is not to be missed. Two things would improve the experience: lower the admission price and invest a bit in much better signage as to the plants that are being viewed. This place has so much upside potential.

One visit will suffice for us……..

By Impala guy |

Decided to spend a nice afternoon at this location. It ended being a beautiful day at a place we have never been to before. There were a lot of other visitors with us.
Signage is a big problem here not only as you approach by car AND once you enter the grounds. As you get there there is no sure sign of where VISITORS should parking be and STAFF park. That should be simple.
Added to that is the fact that lots of the labels on trees/plants are not readable. Makes them useless.
The paths can be better labeled, too. Really. Where does this go?
Probably never be in the area again and we would not need to go again.

A World of its own

By Happytwinkle |

Absolutely magnificent. We have visited twice in 6 weeks. We took our kids and very young grand kids.
What a beautiful place. Trees and plants that you would have to travel the world to see.
A room full of magnificent butterflies, a mini rain forest.
A man made lake with so many varieties of fish. Also crocodiles.
Iguanas and lizards in abundance.
A first class cafe. Really clean and high quality.
Easy parking and the best day out for everyone.
Huge shout out to Bridget. We were heading back to London and we are a party of 6, the tram that travels around the gardens was full and the tram repeats once an hour. We asked several staff members if we could take a private ride and no one could help us. Bridget appeared and so willingly and warmly drove us around the property which is huge.
We were so grateful she was such a lovely lady.
Best day out , everyone should visit.

Mango Brunch at FairChild Tropical Botanic Garden

By Angelo S |

Tucked away in “old world Miami” lay in wait Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Fairchild is an absolutely gorgeous venue for any occasion; leisure strolls; weddings; birthday gatherings... A place to let your children explore the bountiful horticultural beauty that is hidden in a major bustling city such as Miami. The grounds are immaculate. You are surrounded by luscious foliage almost immersive! Light cascades effortlessly off the many lakes. The staff at Fairchild is exceptional and a wealth of knowledge. Special thank you to Director Kelly Ramer; thank you Kelly!

Creating wonderful memories in the Garden!

By Ali V |

Great day with the grandkids! The wonderful Dragons exhibit features interactive activities that are great for a hot summer day - creative and inventive. The Princess Tea hour was so very special -

Beautiful relaxing day

By Globe trotter |

Beautiful grounds which are well maintained with plenty to see. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly! We had a wonderful family day.

Beautiful Garden

By Beautifulbrandy |

One of my top three gardens in Florida!
We visited on a whim and were blown away. The tropical plants were massive—some of the largest I’ve seen in the state. The greenhouse needs a little love but is still beautiful. Highlights included a huge butterfly garden and a rainforest garden with misting features (watch out, the walkway is slippery!). Shaded walkways make exploring pleasant, though areas by the lake are sunnier. Tons of iguanas and lizards, but they scatter quickly. Kids will love the bug-themed art and the trolley ride to see them. We didn’t finish the full loop due to heat and mosquitoes, but we’ll be back!

Great park to visit

By Fred |

We spent the day at fairchild gardens. What a lovely park. We used the free tram to view the whole park and determine what parts we wanted to visit in detail. Plus the the tram guide provided a great overview of the various plants.

Beautiful garden

By Julie B |

Beautiful garden, rainforest and butterfly greenhouse. Orchids everywhere, exotic fruit trees.
I would have liked them to offer for tasting garden fruits like cocoa beans for example.
Thank you to the people at the reception for kindly making us make the small train because the "volunteer" had not come.
Not very convenient to book the "train" because you have to go back to the reception to do it.

Beautiful gardens to visit on a blue sky day

By Leila B |

Loved my visit here. Its 25 dollars to get in which isn't cheap but I felt it was well worth it. They have a tram that you can take around the tropical gardens with a guide who gives you lots of information about the history of the place and the various tropical plants there. The tours depart every hour on the hour. Our guide was fantastic! He spoke with a lovely Southern Accent and made sure everybody enjoyed the tour. We even saw a crocodile swimming in the lake whilst we were riding round. This place is just beautiful and a great place to take photos. I also spent some time in the butterfly enclosure where the lovely lady let me hold a gorgeous butterfly and gave us some really interesting information on them. The butterfly place is a must see as there are so many different butterflies all in one place. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area as I really enjoyed my time here and all the staff I encountered were nice also. They have good food and drink facilities onsite and clean well maintained toilets. I will recommend this place to colleagues, family and friends.

Gorgeous scenery!

By smzinn |

We booked tickets online for Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden for our second day in Miami. A beautiful tropical oasis just 30 minutes from downtown Miami, we were pleased to find that the grounds were perfectly maintained. They have a butterfly house filled with Central and South American butterflies, an expansive misty rainforest, countless waterfalls, giant trees, and walking paths that easily handle strollers. Friendly employees passed us in golf carts and offered occasional suggestions on where to go next. We purchased our tickets for $20/per person at the entrance. Our tickets got us in all day long, and they gave us a map to freely explore the grounds. They also have a café with indoor seating and large windows to look into the butterfly exhibit while you eat! We spent about 2 hours here relaxing and taking photos.
We were two adult women looking for something different to do in Miami and enjoyed it as adults, but this attraction would be great for families too. The walkways are paved and multiple families had strollers/young children while we were there. Plenty of space to roam!

Wonderful visit

By Oz P. |

Beautifully kept botanical garden in the heart of Coral Gables, it is always a pleasure to visit, as it is well kept, and there are many volunteers and employees who will be happy to answer any questions you may have. There are also a lot of events throughout the year, most notably tge garden ramble, orchid festival, and mango festival. A must visit for anyone who loves tropical plants.

SO MUCH TO EXPERIENCE

By Miles Archer |

My wife and I came here on a weekday. Admission was about $25 each. There are discounts, including for seniors, military, first responders. The cafe has inside and outside seating available. Covid protocols not enforced. The cafe has a very limited menu, mainly of salads, sandwiches, quiche. We shared a salad and sandwich. Food was just average. We spent about an hour and a half walking around, taking in the sights. We managed to socially distance ourselves from other guests and staff members. Lots to take in. So many interesting plants. We learned some things. Well worth a visit.

simple but expensive

By emmanuel NC |

The garden is big ( advice : take the free tram tour inside the park ), well maintained.
Quite a few species of palm trees, orchids, etc.. you may see iguans, squirels and a couple dozen butterflies in a special house.
Great to spare a peaceful moment, but expensive for what you get.

Always fascinating

By blondissa |

Beautiful park with so much to see. Great trails to explore. Exotic plants. There is something for everyone to see. Today was a rainy day so the pictures are on the dark side. We have been other times when it was sunny and bright. Be sure to walk thru the Butterfly Garden, which is fascinating. They also have trams for a 45 minute ride. Entrance fee is $25 per adult. We were hoping to see the Lego exhibit but it wasn't there anymore.

Night garden at Fairchild

Beautiful night light display. Fun for the kids with taking tree. Allow one hour to walk through the gardens.

Beautiful South Florida Day in an Enchanted Garden

By Frank C |

A beautiful day with beautiful orchids. Fairchild is the best place to them. Learned a great of information and bought a garden gnome.

Beautiful peaceful place

By Beverley_11 |

We visited this en route to the Everglades from Miami Beach (we had intended to visit Kampong, but it was closed for a wedding). We went on the guided tour in an electric vehicle which was very interesting.

Love it

By Obai Ayham Ihab |

Great Great , no worst to describe how lucky we are , we saw the most beautiful flowers ever , very impress

Save your money and go somewhere else.

By wanderlustjj |

I was so excited to visit the Night Garden with my family, and we were all willing to pay the hefty price tag of $30/person expecting it to be a cool experience. It was not worth it. There was mud everywhere. It was packed (why reserve specific time slots online?). I feel terrible wasting $125 for my family and I and that’s the honest truth.

This is my happy place..

By Donnalynn P |

We are members and I never tire of the scenery, the well kept gardens, the animals that live there, the art gallery, the lemonade and the orchids. There are activities all year long, the butterly experience is super and you kind of defrag when you are there. You are present. That's my favorite part. The volunteers are wonderful and the gift shop is awesome! You could buy anyone a present there anytime. Loaded with pretty things. 🥰🌺🌻🌼

Great way to spend a few hours exploring tropical nature. Delightful staff.

By IMS |

Highly recommend. Well worth a visit. Can easily spend a few hours here. A lovely tropical nature environment.
Absolutely brilliant service, entertainment and hospitality from Tracy at front desk and Brian providing a tour of the gardens.
Even got to see a crocodile!

Night Garden

By Maureen M |

While the garden light display was pretty, I really did not think it was worth a $33 admission on a Friday night or the one hour drive it took to get there. Walking through and releasing the 7 fairies took about 1.5 hours. Not the best value but pretty if you're close to the area and don't mind spending the money.

Beautiful Soup

By Reza B |

A beautiful experience, full of wonder and beauty. Amazing photo opportunities, excellent app with the map and planning feature. It made finding the restroom and finding our way back to the car easy.

Gardens Walk

By John M |

In arranging my family trip to Miami I had come across Fairchild botanical gardens and wanted to go. I initially thought about a day pass but it was only $75 more to purchase a family and friends pass for an entire year (we will come back). The membership process was easy and when we arrived they were able to look up my profile and get our family in the gardens (took less than 5 minutes). The gardens are AWESOME! This was definitely worth the $$. The butterfly enclosure was wonderfully relaxing and the grounds are expertly cared for. It took us about 2-3 hours to see everything and I would definitely go back

Wonderful Experience!

By GreenUnicorn |

Visiting the Fairchild Tropical Garden was one of the highlights of our trip to the Miami area. The senior admission rate of $18.00 is extremely reasonable for all that the site has to offer (especially after what we paid at the Deering Estate that morning!!). We arrived at 1 pm and spent the rest of the afternoon there...we could easily have spent even more time there!

The grounds are very well kept. Very nice gift shop. Only criticism is of the map, which did not represent the site particularly well or clearly.

We absolutely loved the butterfly exhibit, including those blue South American butterflies we had never seen before. We enjoyed walking through the various gardens that presented a variety of plant life. Another nice stop-off was the exhibit showing how the garden is trying to propagate orchids and send them out for planting. This exhibit was hosted by high school students interested in science careers, and it was fun speaking with them.

A great place for all ages! We saw so many families having a great time. Highly recommended.

Night Garden

By Gabby R |

I proposed to my partner and it was a magical moment for us! The night garden was beautiful! We walked through the garden for about 4 hours.

Nice walk even during COVID-19

By Shaun S |

This is a beautiful place and a lovely walk. It probably makes sense to wait until everything is back open but the grounds are still really nice. If it wasn’t August I’d recommend it for the walking experience alone.

Bsautiful Fairchild Gardens

By Nicoline S |

We ended our Florida holiday in the most relaxing way possible; with a visit to Fairchild Gardens. The gardens are beautiful, the diversity of plants and trees is amazing and the atmosphere is tranquil. The Fairchild app shows a complete map of the park and its greenery. Highly recommended.

Beautiful place

By Nico mom |

Wonderful place for a photoshoot or for kids to walk around see different little animals and bugs. The plants are beautiful, the landscaping and grounds kept in great condition. Stroller friendly paths. My son enjoyed the rain forest area the most and we got some amazing pictures there.

I love it.

By Mayrelis L |

Super a spectacular afternoon with family and very rich food, the attractions kids liked a lot had a lot of fun

Disappointing, no mango experts giving the lecture!

By cassandra w |

Grounds are nice, but on entering their scanners were not working so there was a looooong line to check in for ticket holders at the Mango festival! We had to wait at least 45 minutes in the sun to get in. The food trucks had barely any mango food or drinks. Food was overpriced; 3 tiny tacos ( mystery microscopic meat) for $14. Churros were expensive too. The place was super hot, 94 degrees and there were no bathrooms close by, a few fans and not enough tents or shade seating to eat your food!
The mango lecture was most disappointing. They choose a business person who gave the talk/lecture and he proceeded to advertise his business ( first slide)! And he was talking garbage about Jamaicans and sourcing mangoes from their island; mimicking their accent. Where are the experts who study mangoes: the scientists, botanists, horticulturalists, agricultural scientists, or plant researchers, shame on you, admission was not worth it. This a get rich quick scheme, very disappointing!

A wonderful Miami Resource

By Robert G |

We went to the Orchid Festival this weekend. We are members and have been here many times. If you are visiting Miami and want to see nature, relax, and learn. This is the place to go. A wonderful education experience. Watch on line for the frequent activities and education opportunities.

Great experience!

I Love the experience staff is very knowledgeable I loved the rainforest and butterfly garden. Great place for a family trip!

Great place for family !

By Joe |

My wife and I visited here recently with our family. My grandson who is 2 1/2, loved it. Plenty of shade to stay under on hot sunny days. Would love to come back again sometime.

What a treat!

By Eileen K |

On our drive from Miami to the Keys we visited the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden for two to three hours. This is one of the largest and most beautiful botanical gardens we’ve visited through the years. If you have time, sign up for a free guided tour, and don’t miss the butterfly exhibit.

The creator of the park, David Fairchild, was an educator and scientist with the US Dept of Agriculture. He brought back hundreds of plants from his international travels--many used in the creation of the Fairchild garden. Interesting tidbits: his wife was the daughter of Alexander Graham Bell, and Fairchild was the first to import cherry trees to Maryland and DC.

Our only gripe is the poor information for parking. The small parking lot by the building was full, and the signs for the extended parking were nowhere to be found. Fortunately someone pointed the way for us.

Nice day trip

By Linda L |

We arrived at the 83 acre garden late morning on a weekday. Our first stop was at the gift shop where we paid for the admission and then waited a few minuites for a golf cart to take us to the tram stop. It was about a 10 minute walk but some of us has walking issues and decided to wait for the ride to the tram.
The tram ride wait was quick. We were informed that this park has over 1200 volunteers. We could tell by his narration that he truly enjoys telling us about the numerous Palm trees and other plants and flowers seen. We saw small and large lizards scattered here and there on the lawns. The tram ride lasted aprox 30-45 minutes.
We passed by the butterfly garden, a cafe and a rainforest area that we could visit on our own afterwards.
Unfortunately they do not let us out to explore these areas (they are not far apart,) they take us back to the starting point of the tour which seemed like quite a walk away (for those of us with walking issues.) It's a shame that they don't provide a stop with a return pickup time, say on the half hour or hour, so people could visit the above mentioned areas. At the end of our tour, we took the golf cart back to the gift area and headed back home. I would recommend Fairchild Tropical Gardens but it might be worth calling to see if there are any activities going on that day as many students in grades K - 12 have field trips here or other activities might be taking place on that day.

Visiting on a week day was a great choice for us.

Love the greenhouses!

By Doodle Bird Terrariums |

Beautiful gardens and large grounds! I especially liked the greenhouses that were filled with breathtaking rare plants in perfect health. I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys nature and plant life.

ONE HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!

By RSD |

I Loved Taking My Mother to Fairchild GARDENS and enjoying the wonderful and highly informative Tram Ride throughout the park with expert commentary. I lost My Mom in December 2018. I never could return until today with My Wife whom I married in 2019. WELL.....Since 2018 they have jacked up the prices to enter. OK everything has gone up. BUT The Tram was "off schedule" so we waited an hour. When it came time to leave for the tour it turns out our 'guide" was a senior volunteer with limited knowledge of the park. And to make it worse, the microphone set she had an hour to test was NOT working and she says "Oh Well these things rarely work so I just have to do it without it." Are you kidding ME? We heard very little. We were beyond disappointed. OH Madame regained her loud voice to PITCH US on a Membership at the end. I'm never going back.

Enchanting Oasis of Tropical Gardens in South Miami

By CoachJDC |

This is an enchanting collection of tropical plants all within an area that is an oasis of peace and beauty in South Miami. Easy walking trails help you meander throughout the gardens. You walk past orchids, palms, Lakes and hundreds of tropical plants. The landscaping and interpretive signs make for a pleasant and educational experience. We also visited the Butterfly exhibit, which is housed in a large netted area. Incredible... don't miss this.

A tram allows for easy access if you have a hard time walking a couple miles.

Don't miss this... they have discounts for Military, seniors and first responders....but this is SO worth the admission price of $15-$25.

Night Garden

By Elizabeth H |

We went for the Night Garden event. It was neat but just okay. Having it at Christmastime, I expected more holiday themes within the fairyland. The talking tree was fun to chat with. Overall, it was worth it but could be so much better.

Breathtaking gardens

By Vivian J |

Beautiful botanical garden filled with spectacular tropical plants, lush lawns, and a breathtaking butterfly garden. It was well worth the 36 minute drive from our hotel. It's a magical place where God's great creations surround you. We had lunch at the cafe and it the food was fresh and they had healthy choices. We ordered the Avocado Toast. If you have the time this should be on your To-do list.

Night Garden spectacular

By WingsOverWorld |

We took in the Night Garden, and it was really worth the price of admission. Very unique and beautiful. My only beef was the parking. We had quite a walk to the entrance. The evening was magical as you can see from that photos.

Sublime!

By Miriam White Williams |

What a superb way to spend a Miami afternoon than gazing at and photographing the flora and fauna of Fairchild Tropical Gardens!

Nice gardens and plants

By jay |

Very nice gardens. A bit overpriced in my opinion since they charge an extra fee of $5 for every ticket, that they told me nothing about.

Don’t waste your time on tram ride

By one on one |

Plants are nice(Only plants and exhibits).Forget about free tram ride.1 hour wasted. Not funny(bad jokes).Disrespectful to customers.

A must see when in Miami

By Sørine K |

Amazing experience. We visited on a Monday afternoon and almost had the place to ourselves. The park is beautiful, with so many plants to see, and also a lot of wildlife.
We combined the tour with a walk down hammock park, to the hammock beach. Easy access with Uber.

fairchild

By leslie p |

unique place.beautiful gardens with many rare and exotic plants and trees.. guided tours are very informative. lovely cafe for lunch

Nice spot to see even in winter

By jlshopper |

Probably 3.5. Visited in winter so might take away a little. We felt it could have had more of a dedicated greenhouse space for better display of non native varietals. Easy walking path. Stayed in midtown. Traffic tough getting there. Butterfly house pleasant. Jumbo pretzels were jumbo. Fair value. Apparently the soup was good. Sold out! 90 minutes for the more developed areas. Add 30 minutes if you want to do the big walking loop. Didn’t get to spend time in coral gables but looked like a nice place to drive around and check out some really nice neighborhoods (we were full Uber this trip).

Shows you gorgeous greenery

By dldmia |

Fairchild Tropical Botanical Gardens is a local treasure. Decades of superb community leadership have resulted in a vastly improved facility and world-class destination. Special events are worth it, too.

Don't miss out on these lush gardens, expertly run and maintained

By Jayhawkmaxx |

Travelling with my parents a few weeks ago, I went to Fairchild for the second time while they were visiting this part of South Florida--a first for them. This time, my husband suggested we take the tram tour, because of their age. The bonuses were not only was everyone comfortable (it was also threatening to rain), but that we got to see way more of the Gardens versus our first visit over 5 years ago. Stunning. They were setting up for the annual Orchid show, so the gardens really shone, and I believe that put out extra orchids in the landscape for the event. What a treat. The guide was knowledgeable and engaging, and put the history of the Gardens and their current activities in context. Don't miss out on this tour--free with admission. Check on the departure times.

Worth a visit

By Richard_Harpum |

My wife and I visited the Fairchild Botanical Gardens during a Florida vacation. It was the second time we have been there but it was a long time ago, so we wanted to return. If you are in the Miami area it is worth visiting. Parking was straight forward but I would recommend booking online ahead of a visit.
There are really two areas: a fairly concentrated area with a variety of different flora and a wide open area with several small lakes in one of which we saw an American crocodile. We took a stroll around this area, which was almost deserted.
Well worth visiting if you are in the Miami area.

Great places to walk and learn about plants

By conniesej |

Fairchild has a wonderful butterfly garden and orchids. March 13-15 is the orchid show.
If you like to take photos, it has lots of orchids and ferns. Is very relaxing and the kids will love the butterfly gardens.

Nice botanical garden

By Renee Y |

Nice botanical garden. Enjoyed the lego sculptures that are currently up. Remember to bring bug spray! We forgot and they don't sell it in the store. A store employee was nice enough to let us use some of her personal spray.

Amazing!

By vox303 |

We love this place, even though the admission is pricey when there's a festival event. Beautiful layout & wish we could visit more often.

We have been there twice this year-Outstanding

By MrP |

Amazing orchid setup. Amazing grounds. Ignore the whiners complaining about renovations. It's easy to get around.
Dedicated staff. My wife took a ton of great photos. Very relaxing atmosphere. A must-go.

Saving Tropical Plant Diversity

Magical

By victor p |

I truly love coming to this place. My mother started bringing me here since I was a child and I remember thinking I was in a Magical Fairytale Land. And I still feel this way every time I come back. A must see when your in the Miami Area. They have several Special Events During the Year that are quite beautiful as well. So don’t miss out on this Amazing Place.

Beautiful, tranquil, and calming.

By OnAir642103 |

It is as if you have left Miami and have been transported to a tropical oasis. They have water views to die for and a butterfly conservatory that I could spend hours in. You can walk around on your own, take a tour, or just sit on a bench and watch the squirrels and iguanas go by. If you are looking for a beautiful place to just relax and get away from it all, Fairchild is the place to go.

Excellent gardens and amazing butterflies

By mark k |

Our family (kids 18 and 21) had a terrific visit to the Fairchild Botanical Gardens. The flowers and trees were so impressive, especially the orchids. We enjoyed seeing all the iguanas scampering about. There happened to be a Lego exhibit that was also rely cool. But the butterflies stole the show - really remarkable to walk in the greenhouse with them flying around. Great time.

Best Gardens in Southern FL. A must go.

By nick Z |

Amazing and Spectacular in an understatement.

Firstly, the grounds are exceptionally well kept. Pathways are beautiful cement with plant leaves imprints.
Grassy areas are well maintained.
Plants are all trimmed and kept in great health - no dying limbs etc.
Butterfly building was low on butetrflies just due to hurricane through texas.
Long roads to ride around via tram that are very nice and comfortable.
Best: Rainforest. Large area on a slope with huge trees, misting from them to make it like a rainforest and almost clouds created to make it exceptionally nice. To add to that, there is a large stream flowing though with multiple babbling waterfalls. Easy trails that weave between trees and other plants and crossed the stream. Enough elevation change to make the stream fabulous, but not difficult to walk either. Both meander through the trees and was created with much thought and planning.
Orchids at the top are beautiful. Many pretty plants around.
I would go just for the rainforest walk. There is another hidden trail from the higher section that goes down a trail to a 'hole' but there is a waterfall about 10 ft tall that falls over into a small pond with turtles and goldfish. ALso worth the walk as it is only maybe 40 ft walk and all in shade.
Most is in shade but some sunny walking as well.
The people there are super nice.
Check at the desk for the shuttle times so you don't miss out.
So much to see there, you can spend 3 hours easily.

Paradise Garden

By Suzanne B |

Beautiful plants and flowers all year long. You can also have a light and simple lunch. Love the orchid garden with a tropical mist. Butterfly garden to see the butterflies we dont see anymore in our gardens.

Great experience

By Carol R |

Great place for a family getaway. The only thing is, the restroom are too far apart. I will definitely go back with family, and friends.

Do it

By Michael N |

The end, being old they have a man picking up those that are worn out to take back to the gate. The butterflies was some of the best I have seen.

Mercenary Pricing $25

By ZenHealer7 |

The Garden is excellent all around, well laid out and olanned. However, I have removed one star due to the mercenary pricing of $25 which is totally obscene and ridiculous. It only reflects the greed of the owners. Further, any time I ask for a senior or AAA discount, it is always on a honor system and I have rarely been asked for ID. Here they asked for both. The guy at the ticket counter took it as a personal affront when he was confronted with the pricing issue. Avoid the cafe, it is totally useless.

A Visual Delight

By Samba |

Beautiful tropical garden with spacious property. We spent 2 hours there and could have spent another 2. Great for walking, flower viewing and birdwatching.

Lovely time with butterflies

By Seajai |

Sure, you can walk among the lovely vegetation and small lakes, but the butterfly enclosure will entrance you. So, so many butterflies, many as big as my hand, all fluttering around or nibbling food.

A True Hidden Gem

By mlitterio |

We are members of Fairchild Garden for years. First time my son visited the butterfly house he was 6 yo and we had just moved to the US. That moment was able to make him so happy and motivated to keep exploring his new life in Miami! We bring our friends to visit the park and they all fall in love. People in general is not aware of such nice place in the south of Miami. It’s a real hidden gem ready to be found.

Most Unique Tropical Botanic Garden...And More!!!

By williamspratt |

This natural tropical botanic garden is magical at night, great fun during the Mango Festival, special during art exhibits (think of Chihuly works scattered among the plants and water features, Clyde Butcher photos in the gallery, etc.), and serene and meditative early on a quiet morning. The iguanas and alligators keep their distance but it is their home. The Butterfly House is a delight especially for small kids.
The Thursday nights and Moonlight Tour and Lecture via tram tour, star gazing, and yoga in the arts center courtyard just starting in November promise to be great experiences and special treats. But no matter when you go for the first time, book a tram tour with one of their knowledgeable and exciting guides. You will be back!

Must See

By Michael P |

We have been coming here forever. It’s lovely and they have a terrific bar and small restaurant. The butterfly exhibit is amazing. This is a must see in Miami.

The Quiet Gem of Miami

By Elena L |

The gardens are beautiful and we enjoy the activities that they have for children. Today we did the reindeer scavenger hunt. Plus we took a photo with Santa.

Night Garden is not good

By Ryan C |

The park was a very nice and pretty environment. The Night Garden was not something we enjoyed. Firstly, one of the staff members said out loud that they have over 1,000 people coming at the time. There were SO many people, and the staff didn’t do that good of a job managing the tons of people. Staff were advising us not to go on one of the main exhibits until later because of too many people clogging it. Why? That’s really not right. The staff were unable to create a single file line of everyone who wanted to go on this attraction. When entering the beginning of Night Garden, you see small Christmas-flower-lights on the ground. When walking in, of course they were pretty, but we expected much more. We assumed that what we were seeing was just the introduction and barely part of the whole thing. It ended up being the best thing we saw all evening. There were very few Christmas lights, and for the most part, the ones there were you could see driving from house to house in neighborhoods without paying so much money. It was insanely overpriced for what you are getting. One of the exhibits was literally large sculptures of dandelions.

Only the butterfly house saves it, and not by much

By scott r |

If being in an enclosure with hundreds of very pretty butterflies does it for you then spend the $25. But consider it carefully, because there isn't much more to recommend this garden other than the fact you can take a fairly long walking path around several small 'lakes'. The enclosed greenhouses offer nothing special, the outdoor gardens are fairly standard (If you've been to a few good ones you'll know: Huntington, Toronto, etc.) and there's a lot equipment either running or sitting about. The main attraction seems to be a tram tour - if you're over 75 anyway. Want nature in the area? Take a woods tour at the Deering, much cheaper. Want history a little bit of garden? Do Vizcaya for $3 less. Vastly (!) overpriced for what it delivers.

Wonderful garden lots to see

By Mountainman827 |

Beautiful garden to wander thru and wonderful butterfly house. Walk part of it to include the butterfly part and catch the tram for overview of rest. This will take you about 3 hours total. They give you a map but placing numbers along the way to correspond with the map would be helpful

We spent several hours walking around the park and enjoyed the butterfly exhibit, the vast array of orchids, the frequent iguana spottings, and the lengthy paved trails between manicured landscaped gardens. Highly recommended and hope to come back again someday.

incredible Light and Sound show among the trees

By AVATAR TRAVELER |

Night Garden A magical light and sound Christmas show throughout the whole 40 acre garden, It was phenomenal as you see the color lights change in the mist among the trees and cool the night. The walking among the trees and the listening to the music at the same and light decorations created an incredible Christams Holiday atmosphere.

Wonderful garden and so helpful staff

I happened to spend one day in Miami because of a delayed flight and spend my day visiting this great garden. Lots of interesting plants, lakes with brackish water, crocodiles and dragon lizards. Really nice butterfly house. Calm and relaxing. The staff was extremely helpful and shared their vast knowledge.

One of the best gardens in America.

The gardens are beautiful. Only one like this in the United States.
It's a must if you love plants, beautiful settings, and tropical weather.

Great way to spend the afternoon, especially in winter. The orchid festival is one of my favorite time to go there.
