The Fantasmic show in front of New Orleans Square in Adventureland at Disneyland California is a must see! Hosted by Mickey with all the classic characters you always want to see. It has been updated with a new Pirates of the Caribbean portion of the show. There are two show each evening at 9pm and 10:30. The show is 30 min long. There is a standing only viewing area on the side close to Haunted Mansion. You can use a fast pass to be in a closer section to view. If you reserve a dinning package you can receive a ticket for a closer sit down viewing area closer to the water and stage. However, there are three tiers to the dinning and seating packages. The Hungry Bear Restaurant has a dining package $30 adult/$20 child meal and ticket option . This is the cheapest option. And if you have family members that want a burger and fries or might not appreciate the meal options of the other restaurants- this might be a good option. The sitting zone is close to the water and directly in front of the stage. But, you are sitting on the ground. If you book a reservation at the River Belle restaurant it is the same thing. Sitting on the ground- unless you book the PREMIERE dining reservation that has a section closer to the Cafe Orleans that you can sit in chairs further away from the water. If you book the last reservation at 8 pm. You can stay in the River Belle restaurant terrace seats to view the Fantasmic 9pm show. The Blue Bayoo restaurant also has the dinning and ticket option and the PREMIERE dining ticket option. You can book a lunch or dinner reservation to qualify for a ticket to Fantasmic. I recommend that you check the menus of these restaurants to make sure you will enjoy the food and the show.

We love Fantasmic. It is truly spectacular and fun for everyone except very young who may be a bit frightened. Over the years we have sat on the lawn for hours, saving spots for our wandering family members. Several years ago we paid for a dessert package that provided chairs and hot drinks. That is gone now, but I think the deal is even sweeter.
A Fantasmic package is now offered at the Blue Bayou and one other restaurant that allows entry into an area right in front of the action, where guests are required to sit, not stand. I am sure everyone there has a clear view of this iconic attraction. The Blue Bayou provides a very nice menu, with almost as many offerings as the regular dinner menu. We were all very happy with our meal and the package actually costs less than what we paid for the dessert package years ago. They include a "souvenir" cushion, really just an inch thick piece of foam, in the Fantasmic dinner package. We had a great time at the dinner and the show, with what amounted to front row "cushions."
My advice, if you want to take advantage of the dinner package--call Disney Dining sixty days in advance. Do not wait, as these reservations go fast. On the day of your reservation, go by an hour ahead of time to let them know of any special needs or diet concerns and to check how their schedule is going (try to get early reservations between five and six o'clock so that you are not hurried if things are slow). If they tell you to line up for your Fantasmic package half an hour early, be there much earlier. One person can hold the space while the others shop around or even go on a ride. Good seating for Fantasmic is a very big deal.
Watch your little ones as they see their favorite characters float by, as fire lights up the river, as fireworks and magic light the sky! Again, the very young might be a bit frightened by the noise and fireworks, but most everyone will agree that this is an amazing show!

Fantasmic! is a nighttime show held in the Frontierland section of Disneyland. When we were there they had a show at 9:00 and 10:30 I believe. I didn’t know you could get a FastPass for a reserved spot for the show until we walked past the booth in Frontierland. Unfortunately by then all of the tickets for the early show were gone. Luckily for us a Disney employee saw us and provided great customer service by giving us tickets for the earlier show.
Since we were only there for one day we prioritized doing as many rides as we could fit in. This caused us to miss the very beginning of the show and we didn’t even look for the reserved section but rather grabbed the first spot we found. The show stars Mickey Mouse and is full of pyrotechnics and scenes from Disney movies projected on shooting water. Towards the end a number of Disney characters come out on various boats. While I wish we could have found the proper spot and had a better vantage point we still greatly enjoyed seeing Fantasmic!

Love it - have paid to see it twice. Would pay again. Disney knows how to entertain!!! It was nice to have a place to sit and something to eat while watching the show.

Although we had VIP seating for Fantasmic, we still feel hemmed in by the swarms of people. We totally understood, since we visited over winter break, and the staff did a great job of moving everybody safely. The show itself was really just mediocre, with a thin plot line and okay special effects. It was nothing compared to the awesome World of Color show at California Adventure!

Our experience of Fantasmic was less than great. Not that the show was bad - it was very impressive but we walked from the Disneyland Hotel with a special pass just to see Fantasmic. By the time we got there all the good viewing places were taken by those in the park. We were on the side behind some trees and the view was obstructed. If you go to the park and want to see the show, be sure to get a viewing place in the center across from the point of the island. That is where you will enjoy the show the best.

Great MUST SEE attraction/show at Disneyland. Super spectacle that includes so many special effects. Its like watching a movie on many mediums at the same time!

My favorite Disney Show. First time viewing at Disneyland, we have seen the Walt disney world version many times. This one was better, even my 8 year old said so. Use of the park boats on the River was amazing. We did not wait for good location and still enjoyed. The projection on the water is amazing. The characters that are in the show do a great job too. The Cast Members do a fantastic job of crowd control and getting everyone out in a timely fashion. Must see show. Go to the later show if 2 are offered!

Plan your visit to watch this amazing Disneyland show after dark. No one does a show like Disneyland and this one is especially worth your time.

Fantastic is indeed fantastic! I would highly recommend the dining package (we did Hungry Bear) for the better seating since it gets absolutely packed. This show is not to be missed when visiting Disneyland.

It’s tough to try and get a spot to watch the show if you don’t have a VIP ticket or buy a meal that has a great viewing area. If you are a regular, go very early and get a good spot. I have had great spots before by chance, but it’s so much more difficult if you have young kids. Then, if your kids are too young, they will get very scared with the loud sounds. It’s a great show, but if you have very young kids, go and get on other rides that usually have long wait lines because the rides areas are empty at this time.

Get a fast pass earlier in the day, so that you are seated in best areas for viewing. Fast passes for events don't prevent you from getting a ride fast pass.

It's such a wonerful show. Worth the long wait and hour of standing Even with the park at maximum capacity disney workers work hard to maintain order

Best seat is middle front of Rivers of America <3 Sometimes, you have to wait about 2 hrs beforethe show to keep your good seat... OR... wait until RIGHT after the first showing and shimmy your way down to wait for the second show. :)

I have seen Fantasmic many times both at Disneyworld and Disneyland. ( I prefer Disneyland)
I decided to try something new, I walked up towards the Hungry Bear and watched the behind the scenes show. Meaning the characters were staged on floats waiting quietly in the dark for their chance to float into Fantasmic. It was pretty cool.
This show is always great!!!

Do. It miss this show. It was so exciting for the kids and a highlight to the trip. Make sure to arrive early to get decent parking. Also heard you can reserve with a picnic after. Wish I had known before.

The crowds just put me off, it was freezing. We had fast passes but i'm not sure that actually helped us, they split up our party into different seating areas which i didn't like at all.

Great show! You don't need to show up early. Being up higher gives a better perspective of show. All viewing areas are good. It's almost better to find a place to sit outside the viewing area. They do not let you sit in any of the viewing areas.

Lazer, lights ,fireworks need I say more. This production is Epic .. There is something for everyone. A complete story unfolds before your families eyes. Well worth wait.

Although this show is well over 20 years old, it still draws large crowds each evening it is scheduled. Disney characters from classics movies battle it out on the rivers of America in frontier land. Disney villains from maleficient, captain Hooke, Ursula, wicked queen, battles against Disney heroes. The Columbia pirate ship takes sail too as Peter Pan sword fights Captain Hook amongst a boat full of pirates. Mickey from Fantasia directs the action which includes clips from these films played along to their soundtracks with coloured lights, fireworks, fountains, fire, etc. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and many other characters including Disney princesses finish my the show aboard the mark twain riverboat. You'll need to line up hours in advance to get a standing place or you can buy a dinner pkg which then you can sit and watch from river belle terrace. Once the show is over get ready to fight the crowds to leave the area before the parade and fireworks start on Main Street.

If you haven't made it to this show then you are missing out on a spectacular event.
This year we did the dinner special with the blue bayou restaurant.
They have a set menus to chose from and then you are given a pass to a reserved area for viewing the show.
Dinner was great and the seating area for the show was also excellent.
I strongly recommend this combination.
We will do it again next visit.

There is hardly a trip to Disneyland that I don't take in Fantasmic. Due to the huge crowd I take in the second showing. There's still a crowd but nowhere near as many people. Bring your camera or video you won't be sorry

If you can get a good spot, which is really hard unless you stake it out at least three hours in advance, you will be in for a really good time especially when your kids get a clear view it's a fantastic show that makes the entrance ticket see less of a rip off.

Disneyland is a pretty amazing place, let's face it! But e ven Disney has its highlights and Fantasmic is one of those for me. Truly a must see! It's easy to miss things there, DON'T MISS THIS!

Incredible how the images are on water and how its synchronized with music. Definitely show up early to save seats viewing area fills up fast.

Seriously, don't miss this show during your next visit to Disneyland. I finally saw the "new" version of the show and I thought it was awesome. Be sure to get your fastpasses early in order to get a good view. The new lighting, projections, and pyrotechnic sequences were quite a sight to see.

We found the performance boring and not worth the crowds. Having been to Disney for 10 days in last 2 years, and seeing world of colour, this one was a little flat.

better than world of color. If you have seen world of color and people tell you that fantasmic is a older less fancy version of the same do not believe them. Do not bother waiting for hours prior to get a seat, get there just before showtime and cram in to one of the roped areas there is always room for a few more.

If you've heard the term Disney magic, the you can witness it here. This is an unbelievable Imagineer creation that shouldn't be missed. I could watch this show over and over again. The only drawback is the seating and visibility of the performance. We had to get fast pass tickets for seating, and even so, due to the eye level it was tough to see the animations on the water screens. I'm not sure how I'd change things, but Disney should really look at finding a better was for guests to see the show with proper unobstructed viewing. It would make things 5 star if that were the case.

I used to rate this as excellent, but the Fastpass system has completely ruined it for us. Your best bet is to get a dining package at Blue Bayou.

Excellent Disney production with water, lights, pyrotechnics, acrobatics, sound, lasers, and actors. Well worth getting a fast pass for. The cast of Disney characters is awesome, and the best seating is honestly back a ways from the edge of the water.

Fantasmic was a totally incredible show. We got a great spot opposite the show around one hour before it started. You must not miss this one!

When this show started, decades ago, I thought it was absolutely amazing. Now, as an adult, this show is STILL absolutely amazing. We have to see it at least once per trip.
Our only complaint is that it is now a fast pass only event. We used to be able to just climb under the ropes right before the show started. They don't allow you to do that anymore and if anything, I think it's made it that much more crowded and difficult to get out of once the show's over....

That is a must see show in Disney, after a long day running through the park having so many rides enjoying all of the food , drinks, and Ice Cream time to settle down at night even on the floor by the lake and enjoy that piece of art show that is a melting pot of diverse art, between dancing, music, audio video effects pyro, moppets and fireworks mind dazzling and talented artists it

We had fastpasses which you can get by a Dining Program that Disneyland has, very convenient and no need to be there since esarly to pick a good spot. It was Christmas season and the park was packed, almost impossible to walk in some areas but this fast pass area wasn't crowded.

Usually held at the end of the day at theTom Sawyer area, I would suggest going way in advance so that you get a good place to watch the show. It is spectacular and the best show ever...definitely don't miss it
You can book at the restaurant and watch the show from there or even fast pass it so you can enter the zone early

We watched at the end of August the second show. Watch your program as it was the end of the summer vacation season and it is not shown nightly. When we were there in June we went to the early show with young children and waited with fast passes over an hour prior to the start. In Late August we had our fast pass and showed up a few minutes before the start and had excellent viewing. If the first seating is offered during the fall followed by fireworks we would do that again. We never get tired of fantasmic. We are in our happy place at Disneyland creating new memories and reliving past.

Will never forget the first time I saw Fantastic. Fantastic show. Seen it in LA, Florida and Tokyo and all are unique.

I set my teenage daughter at the lake opposite New Orleans Square at the front of the railing, at least an hour before show, she placed our jackets down to mark our spots, while I went to get Clam Chowder in Sour Dough Cobs, great way to enjoy the show.

We reallt enjoy finding a spot and relaxing. The late show offers a better less crowed viewing.
Enjoy the show!

Fantasmic is a must see for any Disneyland Resort v I sotor.
Early in the morning go get your fastpass tickets for the show. They will determine if you are center, left or stage right.
When you get there to claim your spot will determine if you are in the sitting or standing section. I prefer sitting by that hour.
The show is amazing but might be a bit scary for little kids.

I do not know how the scientists or whatever they are called do it, but they keep on coming up with new ways to awe and amaze. You may be tired and your energies flagging, but not once this show starts!

As a disabled Disney Guest in a wheelchair my husband and I have been coming to Disneyland for past 52 years. As many other reviewers have shared you can get a fasspass to view the nightly show or you can do what we do without a fastpass. We arrive at about an hour before the presentation and wait next to the Mark Twain riverboat where we are placed at 8:15 pm for the 9:00 pm show by Disney cast members next to the rivers edge for a great view of the water display. This approach also works well for handicapped visitors who weren’t able to get the fastpass. The water presentation has the magic of Mickey and the battle with evil. Classic Disney and a favorite for every time we visit the Park.

The day I went to see Fantasmic 12-14-2014 they implemented fast pass which caused chaos and confusion for everyone. It was the second night they tried fast pass. They will not allow anyone to "camp out" hours before the show so I guess fast pass will make it fair for everyone. I was scheduled for the Blue section but the staff kept moving us three times before they had us placed in the very back. Staff never collected the fast pass because of the confusion of where we were to go. Not sure if Blue or Yellow fast pass is the better option.

You can't miss this. It's a really great show. However, to get a good viewing location, you need to get to Disneyland early to claim your FastPass for it, or book a Fantastic Dining Package that includes passes for reserved viewing locations. The music, characters, costumes, and special effects are wonderful. Not to be missed.

Don't miss Fantasmic. Absolutely the most entertaining show we've seen. Amazing what Disney can do in a fairly small space. The show tells the Disney story and the way they do it is captivating and creative, to say the least.
Tip: We had dinner reservations at the River Belle Terrace, and had our desert sitting on their terrace, which gave us a great view of the show. No standing for 2 hours.

This is an amazing show and the special effects are wonderful. However it is very loud and the imagery (the Disney villains and evil forces, including a several story tall fire breathing dragon, are trying to defeat Mickey's imagination which wins in the end) could be terrifying for younger children.

Definitely get fast passes! If its a warm day i would suggest getting a front row seat in the wet zone because you will be misted not soaked. I'm glad we experienced this once but I'd choose fireworks next time!

I have had this opportunity to see this show in both Florida and Disneyland California but the Disneyland is by far the best production... It's incredible when you see Tom Sawyer Island transformed for an evening spectacular! Among many of the special effects is the Mark Twain Riverboat as well as the Columbia sailing ship that make this production extra special. Don't miss it... Whatever you do make sure you see this if it's playing

This is a tough show get in to. It helps if you have a Fastpass, but it’s still a lot of people jockeying for their view. The pirate ship is a cool addition.

Make sure to get there early to get a good spot! This show is Faaantastic, only if you can get a good seat! It has basically stayed the same throughout the years but still a good show.

We were excited to watch this show. We showed up 1hr early and got told to move behind a white rope that pushed us back. The system they have is terrible. My kids wanted to go back to the hotel because there legs were sore from standing. We were told to stand up by disney staff. There are so many people you might get lucky to glimpse it. People squeeze infront of you, its like your packed in like sardines. They need a better system. After the show you have to hold onto your children and family its like a mob rush after. People can get divided very easily. Fantastic show if your able to get on the front without being pushed back
They need to rethink this show seating.

The show was nice, but could have been better. Was kind of clunky, and didn't have much of a plot. World of Color is much better.

The show is over rated compared to the crowds and wait for the show. Most people have to stand up in large crowded areas and have to wait over an hour for the show. Not acceptable and Disneyland needs to figure out a way to do better.

If you are able to schedule this into your Disneyland day, it really is a classic memory. It is somewhat older technology, but still very impressive. The only drawback is having to stake a spot and wait for the show to begin. If you have put in a long day and are ready to sit anyway, then not so bad.

We did the Hungry Bear Dinner package and got front row seats to the show. It was definitely worth the money to have a reserved spot and we were able to sit down. The show was fantastic, especially being so close to the action. After the show you can stay at your spot and watch the fireworks. The graphics/animations are displayed on the water fountains in front of Tom Sawyer's island so you don't miss a thing.

It was great, exciting show...be sure to get paper Fast Passes earlier in the day to get good viewing spot of the show.

We saw the show a couple of months ago. It's one of the greatest shows that I think Disney has ever done! There's a history of Disneyland with Mickey Mouse from the early days to the present all presented on a fantastic water show with the action projected on the water! This includes lights and special effects such as music and even lasers! Don't miss it! Unfortunately, Disneyland has temporarily closed Fantasmic for refurbishment. One would have to check with the park to see when it will be shown again. The single drawback is the amount of people waiting to see the show. it's sometimes hard to get a good viewing area.

Truly amazing. The imagination and work that must go into this to make it a magical experience. Malificent turning into her dragon form was so seamless and so real.

This is a nightly show on the Rivers of America which has some of the best special effects anywhere. Fireworks, water geysers, all your favorite Disney characters - this show has it all. We were not aware of the FastPass option so we splurged for a Dinner and had a prime viewing area. I will say it was worth every penny.
A simply fantastic show.
DO NOT MISS IT!!!!!

Love this show, it just gets so very crowded. Get there early to find a place to stand and watch. Worth the wait and hassle though

Still a mind blowing show. Definitely one of our favourite things. Has all the characters and a great story. Fireworks finish it off. You need a fastpass and you have to get there early. But it's worth the wait.

Fantasmic IMO is not as good as World of Color and maybe thats because of all the tech involved. IDK. But the lines get long and they are now starting a fast pass for this ride as far too many people line up far too early creating congestion in the area. Get there early folks

Was the same show as last year, but still a great one! The effects are fantastic! We ate at a restaurant that gave fast pass tickets to be sure we got a good seat.

Get a fast pass to guarantee a decent viewing location. Magical show with water, fire, lights, and Disney characters.
More than I expected. Must see if you're into the Disney stories/characters. Very nice special effects.
If you see the 8:45PM show then the fireworks will follow immediately after and the view area for Fantasmic provides an excellent view of the fireworks.
Some parts may be a little scary for very young children.
Very well coordinated show, would see again. Recommend for everyone!

get there early and find a seat - things fill up fast! I thoroughly enjoyed this show! All the great characters in all the different shows. really enjoyed the Peter Pan part with the ship - that was awesome!!

The show is great with all the new special effects + Capt. Jack !! Miss Peter Pan though. We had the package with dinner + reserved viewing. You will be sitting on the ground so you may wish to bring a blanket to sit on .

This show combines so many elements into it that keep your head and eyes moving with so much to see. Lazers, lights, fireworks, smoke, fog and music will leave you wanting to see it again and again. Well worth the wait!

Great show. Has fire, fireworks, characters, drama, fun, and best of all - nostalgia. Absolutely wouldn't miss it.

Worth watching. The park has used all their attraction on the 'sea' for the show. Remember to get a fasts to reserve a 'seat' at waterfront to get a good view.

This is arguably the best show on the Disneyland Resort. The music is fantastic, I love the characters and dancing. Getting a fast pass before is essential if you want a good view. Even sitting around for 40mins before you can talk to people around you.
The only reason it is 4/5 is because the dragon was not working that night.

The Fantasmic show is impressive! They do a great job on that. The pirate ship is awesome!! Loved it very much! One of the Disneyland employees helped us find a place so my daughter could see it as we got there just before it started and it was a little crowded.

Goto the Hungry Bear Diner, and get the desert pack with Fast Passes for the 9:45 show. Stay in the back seating area and get an awesome fireworks view befor the Fantasmic showtime.

A must do if you visit Disneyland and will be there at night! It was my first trip to Disneyland (I've been to Walt Disney World as a kid), and I am glad we saw this show. The show isn't too long and is a lot of fun! See the second show if you don't want to wait hours for a good viewing spot.

One of the most amazing spectacles on offer in a park full of magic and wonder.
You really gotta see it.

Not fair that strollers get pushed off to the far left, you can't see anything you can't get a spot in front of the show unless you pay $20+ per person for a meal plan fast pass ticket , not fair!

get there at least 30 minutes or more before the show time to get a good spot. It's standing room only...but worth it for sure. This show offers a special experience with so many characters. Well done for sure!

I love Fantasmic and it's been awhile since I've been able to see it again. It was fun to see the special effects. Be warned the giant dragon can frighten little children.

Went see show all 3 nights. Viewed from a variety of locations. Get a fast pass if possible or get there early to get a spot in the viewing area. Love the memories from my childhood to present. So nicely done!

I loved the show hated the crowds but hey it's disney but it's accommodated so everyone can see it it's just so crowded you can't move but it's always going to be crowded at Disney

This show is amazing. Simply amazing. It is so different than the one in Orlando, and I think it is even better here. The Pirates of the Caribbean scene was nothing like I have ever seen before!

The night we went was not crowded so we had a good spot, but I would imagine on weekends it's crazy! Definitely worth getting a Fast Pass and if we could do it again we'd probably do one of the Fast Pass dinner packages from one of the restaurants to be in a better section. The show itself is great and fun for the kids, but it is very loud and it might be scary for very little ones.

Recently caught FANTASMIC again at Disneyland, and I thought it might be helpful to give a little review on TA for those who are deciding between seeing this show, or camping out on Main Street for the 60th Anniversary fireworks.
First, about FANTASMIC... this is the 1st nighttime water show that Disney created (after the fireworks, of course!), and it's been thrilling me and my friends and family for a couple decades now. I highly recommend seeing it.
HOWEVER... A couple of MUST DOs to make this worth it: First and foremost, get your FastPass for Fantasmic EARLY! (You get them over by Thunder Mountain Railroad ride, and they don't interfere with your ride fast passes throughout the day) We got ours, and it made ALL the difference! They have now broken up the viewing area for FANTASMIC into colored zones, and people can't just sneak under the ropes to stand in front of you when it's show time. This was MAJOR, as for this most recent viewing we had places atop the bridge over Pirates of the Caribbean, and didn't have to wait there for an hour beforehand to get them! It was the best vantage point I've ever had (except for the time we bought the dessert and sat by the water's edge -- also a treat, so look into that as well)
The show itself is pretty fun; the effects and Mickey are just the best!
BUT... if you haven't yet seen the 60th Anniversary fireworks show, don't pass that up for a night of FANTASMIC. The new fireworks and projections on Main Street are the best nighttime attraction in BOTH the parks!!
But, if you spend one night seeing the fireworks, spend the next night watching FANTASMIC and then STAY PUT in your FANTASMIC place for the fireworks! They project onto the water the same things that are being projected onto the castle, and you can see the fireworks without having 10,000 people around you. AND you're right next to Pirates and/or the Haunted Mansion for a quick getaway right onto a ride!
Have fun at Disneyland!!

Location, location, location. The show is quite nice, special effects were very professional and impressive but I will never do this again. The ability to enjoy the show is highly dependent on where you are. We got fast passes for the show but having to stand for 45 minutes on concrete before the show started, then another 45 min for the show itself took most of the enjoyment out of it for us. The Disney staff kept coming through making people stand up, didn't want folks to sit down while waiting. I suspect that had to do with security/safety but it was highly irritating none the less. The only way to really enjoy the show is if you purchase the dinner package which gives you dinner and thus seats. However we weren't willing to spend $375 for our party of 5 adults and 2 kids.

Classic show and definitely worth fitting into the schedule. Only reason I didn't give it an excellent is that some of the visuals on the water mists are difficult to see from the sides, as I think the technology is a bit antiquated compared to the same effects at the World of Color at DCA. I could see where this show might be a bit scary for very small kids, as it is loud and gets pretty dark and ominous when the dragon comes out near the end.

This show was worth the hour wait. Since we had Fantasmic Dining package preferred seats (on the ground), our view was just incredible. I would highly recommend a dining package for the view with the Fastpasses that come with the meal. The show was amazing, lights, water, fireworks, ships, just wonderful.

This was a Spectacular Amazing show it pretty well had everything from fireworks to laser lights and like dancing colored water fountains and not forgetting all the Disney Characters were there. There also was a full size pirate ship and the river boat. If you like to have a good spot arrive a little earlier.

The things I liked about fantasmic were:
If you go during the week, with two shows it's not too crowded
It is very entertaining for all ages
It is usually seen in the evening where the river is
You can sit on the ground on a blanket

We bought the Aladdin Oasis dining package to have reserved seats to the Fantasmic show. The food was not bad we reserved without knowing the menu. Assuming it was a sandwich sort of thing but too our surprise we had a choice of meat lasagna, vegetarian lasagna, and grilled chicken. Each entrée was tried in our group of four adults. The kids had a choice of spaghetti or Mac and cheese we had both not that great but paying really for the fast pass. We were in blue however since one person had to use a scooter we were seated in handicap which meant we were on the far left in a section that is a smoking section during the day. The seats were great since we could see almost all of it. The show was good with a lot of characters.

I have seen this show several times. It is always awesome and amazing. So entertaining and magical ahhhh

Well worth the wait (10:45) and defiantly worth getting a fast pass which gives a time and a section.
Look on the white map to find the location of the fast track dispenser

We've seen this show many times and enjoy it every time. We visit Disneyland in late November, early December so Sunday is our day to see it. If you haven't, it's worth claiming a good spot early and waiting.

First, the show was amazing. It is a must see! Too many other reviews express how awesome it is for me to write the same thing here.
Now onto the Hungry Bear Seating. We arrived about 15 minutes prior the show starting. I know that is late for Disney standards, but it actually worked out better for us. The reserved seating for the restaurants is sitting only, no standing allowed. We were seated to the back of the seating area which gave us an unobstructed view of the show as compared to the people sitting at the very front of the area where there was the short protective fence for the lagoon. In fact, we ended up right on the line for the Blue Bayou seating area which was not full and eventually just scooted over into the Blue Bayou seating area for a better view. With a small baby, paying for this guaranteed seat without having to occupy an area for an hour plus was worth the money for our family of five. I'd pay for it again.

Just didn't feel very "Disney" to me. Our fast passes put us in a spot that I didn't think was that great. We sat on the ground for an hour ahead of time in the dark, etc. We left our kids at the hotel cause we had a similar experience the night before at World of Color. Not worth it! Sure it's a great show. We loved how they used the pirate ship and the sternwheeler, but the parades are just at good and soooo much easier to find a spot to watch without wasting an hour. Maybe the dining packages are what makes it worth it?

I preface this with, I realize that there is very little room at Disneyland to have something like this, but it still does not make it a lot of fun. The show is great. well done, well acted. Its the standing and waiting. Cast Members were very rude to those without fastpasses, no one was allowed to sit for the entire 45 min before the show started or they would be yelled at by a cast member, even though the viewing areas were not full.

Even though it wasn't showing because of the new Star Wars land being developed, it is such a wonderful show. Get there early for a seat.

I've loved Fantasmic since its debut in the 1990's and my affection for it has only grown over time. The new upgrades like the improved dragon have really added to the show. My only sadness is that it's nearly impossible to "walk up" at the last minute and see it anymore - you really need a FastPass for viewing. I'm not sure if it's true, but on our recent trip when I asked a cast member to direct me to stand by viewing areas she couldn't tell me where to go and kindly allowed up to watch from her viewing area. While it's currently closed for the construction of Star Wars Land, I can't wait for it to reopen!

I expected more. for some reason maybe do to all the hipe but I thought it would be totally different. I haven't seen the one in Orlando

My family and I come to Disneyland approximately 4x a year. We love this show. HOWEVER...
What was wrong with how it was? We would lay our blanket down a couple hours before the show started. Someone would volunteer to stay and hold the spot (nice rest break) while the others went on rides etc..we'd switch off. Now it's BAD. REALLY BAD. We obtained the first group of passes (yellow) and was told not even to think about showing up before 7:45pm, that we'd be turned away. Upon arrival (7:45 promptly) to the "return line" we realized it was a free for all. No direction, no line. When they finally dropped the rope, you literally had hundreds of people funneling through a 3 ft opening to access the seating area. DISASTER! People that just showed up or cut the "line" received much better seating. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Get rid of this new system!

The show has not changed for years but why ruin a good thing. The seating is a bit uncomfortable but that is to be expected when you are sitting on concrete. The show is awesome and a is worth seeing. Word to the wise. Do not wait until 15 mins before the show is going to start to find a seat. This show is a time commitment to find a half way decent seat. Plan at least 1 hr min before the show starts otherwise you will either have to stand or have a bad angle for viewing. Best seats are in the middle.

Popular and fantastic show. Very well designed and well executed performance. The lighting and sound was very professional.

a trip to Disneyland must include Fantasmic. The new ticketing system is helpful for getting a good spot without a long wait. Find a fast pass in frontier land in the afternoon. At night enjoy a show filled with music, pyro, and Disney characters. Unforgettable.

This was the third time my husband and I had seen Fantasmic and it did not disappoint. Our timing was great for not having crazy crowds - it was still busy but very manageable. It is really a must see.

Wow! This show was thirty minutes of complete joy.
Mickey hits the stage in dramatic fashion and then it is action every where with visual candy erupting your senses and the nostalgic moments simply making your heart flutter.
It was brilliant and we were probably fifty yards left of the Mark Twain Riverboat and about fifteen feet from the fence and had a wonderful view. To get that view, we arrived 35 minutes early and it was completely packed by 8:55.
The show has it all with fireworks, water, awesome animation and audio. Mickey with his awesome sorcerer hat and a wonderful skit piecing all together with appearances from Aladdin, the Little Mermaid, Pirates of the Carribean (which my wife dug), and many more.
So well done Disney and Bravo!
Enjoy Fantasmic at Disneyland!

Well, the name says it all. Simply loved it! The best show at Disneyland. We were visiting for a single day and what a great thing to end the fantastic day!
Getting a decent seat was a bit tough. Went there just after the fireworks show and settled ourselves to be mesmerized for next 1 hour.

And seeing will be your biggest problem. Get there EARLY. Take food, bring a blanket, eat a picnic dinner while you wait. We thought we would secure seating and viewing by having dinner at Cafe Orleans which sits up a little higher than the walkways and very near the show. Security did a great job keeping the rails clear of folks who wanted to stand in front of those seated closest to the railing at the restaurant but when the show started, some of the folks seated next to the railing stood up and blocked the view for other restaurant patrons. Had everyone kept their seats we could have all seen very well. Management was NOT helpful with this problem and we were sworn at by the father of the offending group for asking them if they might sit down so we and others could see.
All that being said, what we saw was beautiful, well executed, and very dramatic. We will try to see it again with better planning for an arrival at least three hours before the show starts. We were there on a Saturday night and the park was near capacity the last weekend of October. If it isn't that packed when you visit you might be able to arrive a little later.

Get there early to get a good spot. It's the only thing to really say it's worth seeing if you're in disneyland, but you don't NEED to get there 3 hours before like some people, 45 mins is more than enough time providing you don't mind being flexible if you sit / stand and where you're put!

Wonderful, get there early for a good view. Last around 30 mins. For all ages, music, video live show

it was so bad that I had to leave the workers where so rude cussing all the time it made me wanna jump off the boat into the water and drown myself
I did not feel welcomed at all, I thought Disney land was the happiest thing on earth well obviously not for trannys like us!!1

It was pretty late for my twin 4-year-old boys so they were tired of being on their little feet and were impatient for it to start but they enjoyed it.
My guys don't see a lot of TV and aren't exposed to all of the Disney violence and were a little scared of the big dragon and the death of the dragon but they liked seeing some of the characters, the lights and the films on the water.
Get your Fantasmic tickets early (by Big Thunder Railroad) so you can get some seats, not just areas to stand. We arrived 30 minutes early and didn't get in front but still found it hard to entertain the impatience away.
I was irritated that the Disney staff didn't allow us to sit on the ground while we waited for the show. My legs were killing me after 2 days at the parks!
Beware that you will get a sprayed with a little water if there is some breeze. It wasn't much but others around us were bundling up for a downpour!
Enjoy!

Best show in Disneyland. Make SURE you get the dinner package at the Blue Bayou. The best meal in the park, you get cushions and you have priority seating. It is pricey, but it's totally worth it. Do not miss this show!

If your gonna be at disney in the summer don't miss this show its super awesome so worth the wait and get there early to get a great seat

Never have I've been more disappointed in a Disney production. Judging by the attendance and popularity we thought we finally had to see the show... and now I wish we never did. The whole show doesn't make any sense really, nothing cohesive. The mist/water screen is impressive but "world of color" is significantly better! The whole thing is visually pretty bad and the sound is way too loud. Worst part is that the show was terribly violent and scary. Not suitable for kids under 6 or 7 despite Disney advertising as such. Don't bother with this show, go to "world of color" at California Adventure instead!!

I absolutely love Disney, and adore this show but it hasn't changed in so many years, it lacks the novelty, excellent show the first time, after a while not so much...

Caught this Show at Disneyland California December 2014. Great show with amazing effects on water. Only downside was the seeming lack of organization of where to view the show. We obtained Fastpasses, however we all were ushered to stand in a particular area & had to stand for an hour before the show started & throughout. The children found it almost impossible to see over adults heads. Some sort of seating needs to be arranged for this 45 minute show to avoid the pushing, standing & exhaustion.

This is one of the best shows Disney has ever had. The storyline, the floats, the water and fire features and the show itself mesh together for great entertainment. The fastpass feature does help out with seating but it seems like it is still in the learning stage because it did not flow the week we were there.

Beautiful light show on water. The fire on water was amazing. Mickey and other characters put on a spectacular show that ends with an amazing dragon that appears out of nowhere.

Incredible and very positive - loved waterfront but wish there were chairs - crowded and chaotic, but so worth it. Want to go again with my grandkids

The show itself is cool, however it is not very organized to get everyone in the area for the show and there is no seating unless you pay for dinner at Ariel's (which is expensive). So you end up standing in a crowded area for and hour or more before the show starts. That was not fun considering we had been in the park since early morning and would like to have seats for the show. Tired legs and tired children waiting for such a long time kinda of ruined the show for us.

Wow I have never actually stayed and watched Fantasmic all the way thru. This was a very impressive show!

A definite must to see. Get your Fastpass early if you want the 8:45 show as they go fast. The show is amazing and a very entertaining. Loved it and will definitely see it again when we go back.

Short people have a hard time seeing over tall people and dads with kids on their shoulders :/ what I did see of the show was pretty neat. You can have better seating if you buy package of food and show, but make sure you RSVP EARLY!!!!

The show is perfect for families who have children. The children and adults enjoy all time. They have excellent show, the technology they use is advanced .

In my opinion the best show Disney has to offer. Kids and adults alike will be awed by it- SO amazing. What an experience to be able to share with my son something I have always loved growing up. Worth arranging your Disney trip around! So many "ooh" and "ahhhh" moments.

I like the Disney characters singing and dancing. Bright colorful. Good for all ages. Go early and reserve a good spot.

Great show. Go early to sit...get out front! Kind of late for small kids. We went during Christmas show so judging by that.

One of Disney's incredible shows! I know it is tempting to just hit some rides when shows like this are running. The lines to the rides are short, and you may be able to ride a few times during the duration of the show. However, do yourself and your party a favor and see each of these shows at least once during your visit.

I've never really been that into seeing the shows at disneyland just because they are always super packed and overall not really worth the hassle. Well, my friend insisted that we see Fantasmic!, and I thought it would be nice to see it at least once, since it's a classic show at Disneyland. Although the show is pretty good with fireworks, floats, and dancing fountains, I'd say this is not worth the aggravation to get a good spot to see the show. They have a fastpass system, but by the time I got to the park at 11:30, they were sold out. And telling by past reviews getting a fastpass won't help you out too much, and you may still not have a good spot. The places where walk ins can watch from are very limited and very crowded. I got there 40 mins before and there weren't really many spots to pick from and can only see through little windows between people. I thought I found an open spot that wasn't really blocked by another person's head, but apparently someone was saving that spot so I had to go in the back row of people standing and couldn't really see very well. There was also this huge stroller taking up a lot of the space and in order for my friend and i to see anything, we had to stand with a stroller between us. They have ropes up on the side to keep everyone really close together and it gets a little claustrophobic. Everyone is just sort of standing in a little clusters, and if you are shorter, good luck seeing anything. Plus they force you to stand the entire time. By the time you actually see the show you're tired of standing and waiting. People started scoping out their spot more than an hour before the show. This is not a good system, and probably gives a lot of people a poor experience. There has to be a better way than just people standing for an hour or more in little clusters. This takes more time and frustration than it's worth. If you have kids that insist I guess it may be worth it. But for a 20 min show, this isn't really better than any of their parades which are much easier to find a spot for and you can usually find a place to sit even if you don't get there super early. I thought it was just kind of overrated for what it is.

The way Fantasmic is handled now is that you are required ti have a Fastpass to watch it as it is reserved standing area only. You arent able to just show up now. Which can be a bit of a pain all the way around. But it is still a great show.

We bought the Fantasmic tickets that get you a seat as I can't stand for long. It was expensive but totally worth it. We had a great view and were looked after nicely by the staff. We were given a meal and drinks as part of the package. Balancing your food on your knees isn't easy but it was all very nice. If you get these tickets don't eat beforehand as the portions are very generous.

Such an imaginative show, very entertaining! A great way to end your day at DL by seeing lots of characters in the finale. Highly recommend and a must see!!!

We did the dinner package for the Fantasmic to get the fast pass. The food was surprisingly good and we were please we actually had the option to stay and eat there since it was advertised as take out.
Finding where to go with the fast pass was a nightmare. We got sent in circles. Finally, a manager just took us to a disabled viewing spot since we had been made to circle the area twice.
The show was so fun and worth the trouble. The kids loved it. It was very well done.

Truly enjoyable show with Mickey Mouse, animations against water, fireworks, floats, boats and music. Truly a wonderful show. Not to be missed. Many Disney characters were featured including Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, Snow White, etc.

I have been going to Disneyland for as long as I can remember. Although there have been changes throughout the years, it still remains to be one of my favorite places to go. I saw Fantasmic for the first time a few nights ago. What a spectacular show! If you want to get a good look at the show I suggest you start looking for seating/standing in the designated areas at least an hour or more prior to showtime. I love the visual effects, lights and characters. The ship with all the Disney characters is my fav. I'm surprised it took me this long to see this show but I'm glad I did. You can go online and check the show times. While I did love the show it can get a bit loud and scary for younger children like toddler age. We were seated next to several families with toddler age kids that weren't too happy during parts of the show. Overall it's a great show and I look forward to seeing it again.

i hate waiting but its obvious why people sit out in the cold...Fantasmic is the best show ever! I liked it better than WOC because of the storyline and other effects (they do use the same tech as WOC)....We snuck in right after the first show and sat front and center. We set blankets out and my kids took naps before while one of us got hot chocolate. The show started and all was good. Be ready to sit....but it's bearable if you do it for the late show...people be in line up to 2.5 hours for the first show and we did not do that....

Disney blends the old with the new in this over the top Mickey Mouse fights witches and a pirate battle, etc. It's worth the time to watch before fireworks show.

Although it gets really busy and packed with people, this is a very impressive display of fireworks, lights and sounds. It's worth seeing once, for sure. Be warned, though: it would be scary for young kids. Those Disney villains are spooky!

Wow this event is amazing! It can be a little intense for younger viewers but they just cover their eyes for a minute. this event is totally worth staying later in the park. Try to get seats to show though dinner options

Much better than World of Color. We always get reserved seating, and enjoy the snack tray of cheese, crackers and chocolates, with drinks while watching the show.

Always worth seeing although the park was very crowded which made it difficult to find a viewing area.
Worth watching if you get a good position

We went to the Blue Bayou restaurant and purchased the deal with special Fantasmic seating. I have to say - the Blue Bayou reserved seating is Front-and-Center, and they give you a keepsake sitting pad to sit on during the show. It's about the closest I've ever been to one of these Disney fire and smoke extravaganzas. If you really want the Full Fantasmic experience, and you have to eat dinner anyway, it's about $60/person for the deal.
The show was kind of weird, for my taste. Mickey is dreaming and then all the Disney villains laugh maniacally and attack him with fire and dragons and more maniacal laughing, but he beats them at the end with the magic of Disney. There is a lot of water sprayed to make a kind of movie screen, so that was different. They even use the Pirate ship and the steam paddle boat as part of the show. That was exciting. The kids around me seemed to enjoy it, and we were all sitting comfortably on comfy seats with plenty of space right in the middle of the action. So if you like Blue Bayou anyway and you want to see Mickey beat the villains, I call it a very good albeit pricey experience - but that's Disney.

We've been to Disneyland 3 times in 3 years. I think that I saw Fantasmic on the daily schedule, but always assumed it was the fireworks show. So happily surprised. we strongly dislike the crowd management for World of Color, we thought that this show surpassed World of Color in that it offered pyrotechnics, live performers, water, fire, and singing. Loved it.

This year, we watched Fantasmic later in our trip and I regret not watching it more than once. It never fails to create open mouths, mummified kids and a sea of "oooohs" and "aaahhhhs" from the audience. I decided to film the show this time, but sadly, two women in front decided to have a very loud and offensive conversation, so their words are clearly audible in the footage. We have an autistic child so we are permitted in the special area down front right, but the older women in scooters were not even interested in the show, hence their very selfish and rude conversation. I politely asked them to refrain from language as I was filming. Big mistake. They glared at me and spoke louder. Never mind, I can always dub their voices and it doesn't make my experience of this unbelievable finale any less. It is still a showstopper and the emotion can really overwhelm you. Don't miss it folks.

1. be there early, i mean early.
2. amazing amazing effects. but it can be a little late for kids to watch.
3. make sure to bring a blanket to seat on or something to seat on if you are not watching it from a restaurant. and bring a sweater just in case it gets a little chilly.
4. try to get some seats near the haunted house or pirates of the carribean i believe that was.
5. again, it will be crowded and you will end up standing if you're. so be there early
6. strollers will be moved to a certain area for accomodations so make sure to know where you park it.

We did the Blue Bayou dinner package and it is totally worth it. Great view with little to no wait. The show was amazing like always. I have been watching it since it opened and it still makes me feel like a kid.

The Fantasmic show is great, but on busy nights, the line to enter the viewing areas (even with a fast-pass) can be really long. You should head over to the New Orleans Square lake area at least 1 hour before the show - preferrably 1.5 hours before.

We were not sure we would manage to catch this show as we had only one night when it was showing. We were not prepared to stake out a spot and waste valuable Disney Hours, but managed to get a side view on the Rivers of America at the last minute. What a show, and I'm sure it would have been even better from a front on position.

So much better than the version in Florida. Used the Blue Bayou dinner package and had perfect seats (which included a seat cushion for each us) immediately in the center of the action. Show pretty much blew us away. Dragon was amazing. Would do this again in a heartbeat. Something that really shouldn't be missed. Make sure to stay where you are at the end since the viewpoint is great for the fireworks that typically follow.

Worth the price to have a seat because area gets very crowded. Dessert box filled and lasted a few days to finish it all.

I was so looking forward to watching as I had many times previously. I could not see a thing. Disney staff had many areas cordoned off for VIPs and while sitting on the ground waiting for the show we were told to by Disney staff rather rudely to stand up and move closer together a full 30 before the show. They need a better system, I have enjoyed the show so much in the past but at 5’2” with a bunch of people standing in front of me I could not see a thing.

A night time spectacular at Disney's Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM). A show "on the water" with stadium style seating, and a large stage (with a moat between you and the stage). Lots of pyrotechnics, boats, actors, stage props and multiple set changes. Also, a few more surprises! Take a coat, unless it's Summer, as the nigh time gets chilly!

We have never had better 'seats' at a Disney show than this. We are talking, center stage first row just inside of the metal railing, all on a Sunday night to boot! One tip, avoid the first show that people camp out for and save seats for hours in advance. Just be ready to pounce as soon as the first show ends and you can walk right in when those guests are all clearing out and claim their spots. Worked perfectly for us and we had plenty of space. Only bummer was that we had to remain seated the entire time, but usually after a long park day, that isn't such a bad thing at all.

We are frequent visitors to WDW and were curious as to how Disneyland would be able to have Fantasmic inside Disneyland Park on the Rivers of America. At WDW, the show has its own dedicated area. Anyway, the show was very similar to the WDW show, lots of pyrotechnics and characters. Viewing areas are somewhat limited but we could see most of it. They do offer 'Fastpasses' to allow reserved viewing areas but the we used our Fastpasses for rides.

Raised with it, I still watch it over and over whenever I come and the low part of it its always going to be the same o same o. But thats ok

I took my two teenage daughters and my parents to Disnyland and as a surprise I book the privet viewing area for Fantasmic. What a show. All the neon lights fireworks and water displays with videos on them, and then the batale between Micky and the giant mighty dtagon , WOW.
Add to that comfortable seating a wonderful snack box and hotchocolet(almost any bevragenyou wanted)
Great break from walking and and brilliant show and snack.
Will defenatly do this again.

We accidently saw this after having a puff from our Electonic cigarette in Frontierland. The smoking area was almost empty so we were able to see most of the show. I wouldn't try to see the show, as its busy and crowded and you may have to stand. But if you happen upon it and have a good vantage point, stay and watch.

We were able to get a fast pass for the first show, but I really don't see how this helps, we still had to line up, and people were still pushing, and shoving, and we were told to stand until the show starts, how is this better? we could of just seen it anyways when it started but in the back a bit, and not killed my already sore feet. But the show was great!!

Get a FastPass as soon as you arrive and still line up about an hour and a half to an hour early. But worth the show is so worth the effort. My daughter loved it!

I've loved this show since it first opened. It was fun to watch my kids experience it for the first time. Their favorite parts were watching the water catch fire and the princesses. Something fun for girls and boys. :) Definitely worth getting there early enough to save a good seat. Grab some dinner and eat it while you wait for the show!

Before my first trip to Disneyland, I was told by numerous people that this was the show to see. I checked out the show on YouTube before I went, and thought it looked cool but I didn't understand what all of the fuss was about. Let me tell you, videos do the show absolutely no justice. There is nothing like actually seeing a giant, fire breathing dragon appear with your own eyes. There are pyrotechnics, a fun storyline, awesome props and costumes, and all of the quality you would expect from a Disney production.
I've now seen the show twice, once from the VIP viewing area and once from on the bridge right over the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Both had their perks. In the viewing area, there were drinks and treats served, and we didn't have to wait for hours while standing to get a good view. The viewing area does come at a cost ($60), which can be understandably be one additional cost too many on what won't be the cheapest trip. Also, we were seated in the second row, and because it's not lifted, we had the heads of the people in front of us constantly in our view, as well as a lightpost. With all of that said, we were upgraded to the VIP area for free so no complaints.
The obvious downside to the bridge view is I had to get there three hours before the show started to claim that spot. That is a very long time to stand in one spot. Also, while I was able to hold firm, I was repeatedly bumped and jostled by people around me trying to get the best spot possible (even if that spot was the one I was standing in). I even had one lady tell me it was "completely unfair" that I was in that spot, as I'm a fairly tall person (just shy of 6 feet). While it is true that I'm sure I was blocking the view of some people, I showed up hours early to stake out the spot and stood there while there were other things I could have been doing. If you choose to ride Splash Mountain until 15 minutes before the show and show up hoping to get a good spat, you're just going to be out of luck. I preferred the view from the bridge, but it's worth the money (in my opinion) to pay for the better seating without all of the waiting.

I have to admit I am a VERY biased Disney fan - I feel Fantasmic is possibly one of the top three shows they have. As a huge fan of Maleficent I am always thrilled to see her take command of the climax. The Disneyland version of Fantasmic is incredible. The dragon is so "life like" that it steals the show from Mickey and crew.
This show is located in a major hub for those walking the park which makes walking from one part of the park to the other difficult. Also it fills up incredibly fast. They now have fastpass and I suggest people use it and STILL plan to show up early to stake out your spot. People can be quite rude in how they take up more space than they need to.
BUT don't let the crowds discourage you - this is a MUST SEE for any first time Disney park goer.

Absolutely amazing show. Fireworks, lasers, ships, fire breathing dragons. All live, all larger than life. Thanks Mickey!

It's a great experience to see this wonderful story with all the sound, the lights, the characters, the water projections, the boats, the excitement!
I always visit with family (wife and 3 kids) and we always look for a way to see the show.
If you have some time to sit down and get a good spot please do so, it gets somewhat crowded and the cast members have to keep the walking areas cleared so if you don't have a nice spot chances are you will be asked to move... But it is definitely a great experience!
When the show starts to get to its end, run for the Haunted House (no line!)
Hope you have a great time!

If you go to Disneyland be sure to see Fantasmic. The bridge over Pirates is a great viewing spot. Gotta get there early, but the show is worth it.

When we went to Disneyland in July, we didn't get to see the firework show but we did get to see Fantastic! This show is GREAT for all ages. I was on Big Thunder Mountain when the show started and missed a few minutes but I saw then ending and the part with the floats but from what I saw this show was by far one of the better shows I've seen at disney parks. Little girls will especially love when ALL the princesses and their princes are dancing away on giant lit up floats. The show was marvelous. AND at the end Maleficent (green faced villain from Sleeping Beauty) turns into a GIANT dragon, this part of the show will get your/ your little ones adrenaline rushing. I've seen many shows at ALL the disney parks in the United States (minus California Adventure), and I must say aside from the Firework shows at Magic Kingdom and Disneyland this might just be right below them. This is a must see show, and if you're just strolling by when it's going on, I highly recommend you stop and watch, we watched part of it right out side of Pirates of the Caribbean (which BTW had NO wait while the show was going on). If you are the kind of person who likes to be close to the action I HIGHLY recommend getting there early because it was a full house.
This show was amazing and I hope if you ever get the chance to see it I'd stop and watch because it truly is a show you won't want to miss.

An amazing nighttime show. Be sure to scout a spot to sit down fairly early. It's worth it!! How they transform Pirate Island and The Rivers of America to put on this show, always impresses me.

One of my son's favorite shows. This show is very vibrant and entertaining! Please note that children afraid of loud noises and villains may not like this show.

We were lucky enough to get a great spot, and the show is worth watching. A lot of thought went into it, and it is quite a spectacle, with animatronics mixed with live action and animation.

It was our first time ever visiting Disneyland and Fantasmic was One of our trip highlights. It is amazing show. Very entertaining and fun for all ages. Don't miss it.

I've seen Fantasmic four times now a spanning over my through my childhood to Adulthood. The show gets better everytime!

Took a trip and my friends wanted to go home but I love this show and wanted to stay.
If your group wants to bail early or you are a solo traveler do not miss this show!
I love a lot of disney shows... I enjoyed frozen at the Hyperion (inside the park) but honestly have only gone back with my nieces twice. On my own, it’s a skip. But world of color is so breathtakingly beautiful.
It doesn’t matter which show you see; holiday inspired or the standard they all have a great soundtrack and excellent showmanship.
Tip: if you want great seating have a drink and the lobster nachos at the Lamplight Lounge.... you still see perfectly and get a seat to relax in. Or get a fast pass FIRST THING in the morning to get close. You can see it from the back but is nice to see the animations projected on the water without someone’s head obstructing.

Have seen the show at both here and Florida. Both shows have their plusses. It is a must see whenever you go and would be great to see every night

Fantasmic is a show that you can not miss at all, we watched the 10:45pm show at California park is amazing and great show to watch finally we saw the show it was the first time for me because before we tried to watched and I couldnt my kids were only 4yrs but now they are 7yrs they really enjoyed it a lot, and yes I recommend this show to families with kids you can't not miss the light effects.

We LOVED Fantasmic! We did the dining package with reserved seating, which was so nice! We didn't have to waste time in the park camping out for seats, but still had a nice view of the show. Even without the dining plan, it was such a great show that I would definitely recommend watching - even if it means camping out for a spot. I was a little worried that it would be too scary for my 3 y/o, but she loved it!

We went to this and watched it. It was interesting, but there was no plot line that I could see. I was still cool, Mickey shots fireworks out of his hands. Good was to spend your time if you have ridden all the rides.

We got fast passes for Fantasmic which we thought was worthwhile. Enjoyed the show as it incorporated many of the disney characters along with fireworks and other pyrotechnics. If you can fit it into your day it's something different to enjoy.

OH my goodness, the beauty, excitement and bang for you buck is at Fantasmic! We always go, everytime we go to Disney's Studios. Best seating opportunities come with dinner and show! There is ample handicapped seating. My service dog always attends with us, and we sit on the back row, because that is the "Safest" place for him. True to his training, the booms do not even phase him! Don't miss this!!!!

This show would be fabulous if it wasnt for having to sit on the cement for one hour prior to the show. By the time the show starts, your bottom and legs hurt so much, you cant enjoy the show. Not sure what else they could do. Not for elderly at all. Im glad we did it this time, but would not do it again.

This really is a fantasmic show! The lights, sounds, water features and animatronics come together very nicely.....hugely entertaining. Get a Fast Pass for this or find a good viewing spot as they do tend to get filled up pretty quickly. A MUST DO in Disneyland.

I've loved this show since I had the chance to see a preview with a cast member friend prior to its debut. So wonderfully sequenced with scene after scene that brings back memories of animated features you love but may have forgotten about. They now have dining packages available but you end up sitting on cold concrete for the show so, what's the point? Disney can do a LOT better than this if they want $50 for a dinner.

This is my most favorite show to see while at Disneyland. The firework show is a very close 2nd, but Fantasmic takes the cake.

Magical and breath taking. One you have to see to believe. Make sure to set up extra time to stake out a viewing spot. Locals camp out spots as early as 3pm.

I am not very clear on the new fast passes for the show, but the show is a must for all Disneyland patrons

Well worth the money, get there early to get a good seat or you will be standing. The kids really enjoyed it and I think the adults may have enjoyed it more.

We really enjoyed this show. We went to the second show which meant a shorter wait time to get a good seat. We found a space near the front and once the fireworks were over and the crowd began to leave we moved straight into a front row spot. Having a rug to help designate your spot is a great idea otherwise you can end up with people right on top of you. It made me teary its one of those shows that makes you realise where you are, I was so happy I achieved a long term goal of bringing my children to Disneyland.

With all the changes they make at disneyland, I'm glad they still do this. They've updated it and is still a great show.

What a great show to see!
Started right on time and was very entertaining, go see it!
Be prepared for a huge crowd and getting away from the show area was SLOW...

One of the better shows I've seen at Disneyland. The fireworks and the water FX male it magical. I love how they try to put so much into it. I like that they now require a fast pass for it. Before it was hectic and you'd get run over by strollers scrambling for a spot. But it's gotten a lot better!

Loved the ambiance, the décor and the food and the photo ops. We also liked the fact that there was security and that there were young people stationed around to answer questions.

I decided to get reserved seating for Fantasmic at Disneyland. The package I chose was $60 for desserts and all you could drink coffee and soft drinks. The process is a little convoluted; you have to get your reserved tickets early in the day, then line up for your seat assignments about an hour before the show, then come bad for the show. However, the seats are right in front of the stage with an unobstructed view, and they let you stay for the fireworks afterwards. Overall, I felt it saved more time than it wasted, plus I liked being able to sit on a chair instead of the concrete. And the dessert platter was nice as well!

I loved the original Fantasmic, but more importantly my son LOVED it. Now that my daughter was old enough to watch it we checked out Version 2.0 on our last visit over Thanksgiving.
The lighting, visual effects and sound are all enhanced for the better, though it did feel like there were more water screens used, which in light of World of Color at DCA, seems a bit repetitive.
Though there were some minor generational changes that I wasn't as heartbroken over (Swapping Snow White for Rapunzel, no more Pinocchio), the swapping of Peter Pan for Pirates of the Caribbean was truly a step backward. It is another instance of Disney over-monetizing their current IPs. The PoTC segment is disjointed, loud and boring as one can't wait for that ship to disappear so that the caterwauling of Jack Sparrow and his unnamed female counterpart will cease ringing in ones ears. Whereas Peter Pan segment left us wanting the ship to remain so we could witness the entire movie playing out in front of us. In fact it most directly appealed to the child-like nature in us, the one that brings us all back to Disneyland.
And while it didn't completely ruin the show it did. IMO, take it down a notch or so from a 5 star to a 3.5 star.
If there was anyway for us to convince Disney to return Peter Pan to the show, I think we should try to get them to do it.

We had the dining package at the Hungry Bear, which worked really well. We had a great view from the reserved area, and everyone was dazzled by the show, including the almost 2 year old. You stay where you are for a great view of the fireworks. The highlight of the trip for me.

We saw a tiny bit of the show one night, then made sure to see the whole show the following night. It was amazing! Loved loved loved it!!

We can here with a 9 year old and a 3 year old and they couldn't manage to stay awake till the start of the show, so it ended up being just the dad solo watching it. The first day I made the mistake and didn't book a Fastpass and ended up way back, behind a tree watching the show over every ones heads from an angle. Even from there is was suitable impressive with big boat scenes and characters up in the sky. Fire and Dragons and so much more.
The second day I decided to do and so booked the fast pass and then got there about 30 mintues before the start of the event... I got a great front row viewing point but they then told us that the show might not run as the wind was a little high and then 10 minutes later than cancelled the event. Was disappointing as wasted 30 minutes waiting for a show that never materialised.
Short story.. Even a mild breeze, don't bother waiting for the show. As the actors are high up in the air, they won't risk running the show if there are any winds and if they are light they skip some of the fireworks..

Must arrive early as there is not reserved spaces for viewing. Did not like the huge crowds, would be nice if limited number of fast passes made available, as in the World of Color show at California Adventure.

We managed to get fast passes for this, so could sit down right at the water’s edge. It was well worth it. If you don’t have a FP, then you have to stand further back. The show was an amazing combination of music, projected images on water together with stories from the Disney movies. The riverboat and pirate ship also passed by all lit up. Recommended not to be missed!

We opted and splurged for the dinner/show package and so glad we did. Yes the Blue Bayou is pricey but the selections/service/quality of food was very good and of course the cushions they provide (to keep) for the show and the viewing area are all excellent and we wouldnt hesitate to do it again.

This show has been around for years and I still consider it a "must not miss" attraction at Disneyland. Get there early for good seating as people get RUDE as the show begins and they rush to find a good spot.

This was quite the show. We watched from Frontierland and didn't have the best view, but it was still excellent. Would highly recommend.

Disney's night show of Fantasmic is worth staying for at the end of the day and is one of their best shows. This is another show that is best planned ahead where you'll view it from a few hours in advance because others will be doing the same. This is a spectacular show with amazing lighting, music and special effects.

The rules have changed as to how people are lined up and it was very confusing. Disney Management has placed their staff and guests in very and unnecessarily trying situations, but staff were consistently professional and kind.

Of course Fantasmic is fantastic but be prepared to stand, no seating available. However, the way to do it and have a great viewing area for which you don't have to arrive super early and "save" is to get the "On-The-Go" meal and fastpass available from Aladdin's Oasis in Adventure Land. Lunch and Dinner are available and disregarding the name, you can eat in Aladdin's Oasis, there are plenty of tables and chairs. It reminded me of higher quality airplane food, quickly served and in a quiet area. Also, here's another tip - the bathroom in Aladdin's Oasis is large, quiet, and usually empty, we used it a lot while returning 4 times to ride Indiana Jones. This package affords a wonderful full, unobtrusive view of the show with no need to arrive way early. And yes, Fantasmic is well worth your time.

Oh my word!! This is crap! Got a fastpass but apparently not as early as you need to get them. So get one at the first of dawn so you can watch this 15 min not entirely great show. World of Color is waaay better and you can actually see everything.
When we got our fastpass which is the way we were told to do, we were escorted to the worst possible place to watch it. People just walking by got a better view then we did. Even better you have a hundred kids shoving their way in front of you or kids on their parents shoulders. Then when mentioned to the staff that I was confused I thought the fastpass guaranteed us to be able to see the show, she snottily replied it was a guarantee to a spot in the rope. Nice Thanx!
Would not waste my time watching this show rather then taking advantage of the short lines other places in the park or if you have the opportunity to see World of Color in California Adventures.

It's a fun concept with lots of lights. It was really baby like and I'm not a huge fan of child like acts..

I was sure I'd hate the fastpass for this, have to wait longer and see less, but was pleasantly surprised that they have a great system going. If you get there early enough you can be put in the "sit on the ground" section of your color coded Fastpass section. You will be asked to stay seated through the show and have great views. Directly behind them is the standing section where you can sit until just before show start time, then stand for the show. Even kids can see if they are right behind the folks sitting on the ground. We got there a but late and were standing, but it was honestly the best view I've had of Fantasmic since the early days when almost no-one went to the late showing. The show itself it cute, a mix of live action, projected images and dancing princesses on boats. The fireworks here were better than at the castle the week we went. The show held the attention of a 7mo old who was bored at World of Color (which is in great need of a better way to view that show.)

I rate the show a 5, but have to take away a star because of the horrible way in which it was organized. We had fastpasses for the blue section at 7:30 pm. We arrived just before 6:30 to line up for our section, after being told 2 different answers on where that line up would be. It turned out to be beside the Mark Twain Riverboat. The lineup was already started, so we stood in it. The employees were trying to tell people NOt to line up before 6:30. Good luck with that, there's already a lineup and this is what we were told to do by other employees. At 6:45 or so, they opened the ropes, and started letting people in, there was a HUGE crush of people. My 4 YO who was on foot because they weren't letting strollers in the area, almost got trampled. People were pushing and jostling to get in, so much for the lineup. If they had just LET people line up in the first place it would have been so much easier, but there were people coming in from all sides it was compete madness. After somehow avoiding getting trampled, we made our way completely across to the opposite side of New Orleans Square where our fastpass tickets were for, in front of Pirate of the Caribbean. The process of entering the area left me so shaken, it took awhile to calm down. Luckily (?) we still had about a half an hour to wait before the show began.
The Fantasmic show itself was entertaining and impressive, but I was left with a bad taste in my mouth over the way it was organized. I hope that this situation gets improved, World of Color was much better in that respect!

Great show for the whole family.. The sound, the plays, the lights. Definitely a must when you're in Disneyland

Our reserved section location through Hungry Bear Restaurant placed us front and center on the edge of the water.... excellent spots, unless the wind is blowing the wrong way.
The new and improved show is updated with newer dream sequences that the younger audience can relate to. It is very well done... but what else should you expect from Disney?

When this show comes back to Disneyland don't miss it! It's wonderful, don't care for fast pass system for this show. Wish it was like it was years ago when it was first come basis.

Disney really puts a lot into there shows and this one is a must see if you haven't. You would want to get there early and take the long wait to get a great spot to watch it and if you see the earlier show you can stay to see the fireworks just fine from there too.

Make sure to get a Fast Pass in the morning. Don't worry about getting wet if you're in the front, worst was a very light mist.

We managed to get reserved passes for the show which is a visual delight that keeps on giving, worth the wait.

We love this show and see it every time we are Disneyland. We've viewed it from both sides of the area and the center. Definitely get there early for a good spot or do that dessert on the terrace to get a good view.

In New Orleans Square, this more recent addition to Disneyland's shows is amazing. They recently did some more updating on it too, so there are more booms and giant dragons. And yes, of course, the neon monkeys on boats.

Entertaining show shown on spraying water in the lake and on Tom Sawyer island at Disneyland. Show was good, but the viewing system was terrible! No seats and they hoard you into the viewing area around the lake up to an hour before the show. There they expect you to stand the entire time. The people kind of revolted and sat anyway, much to the dismay of the ushers. We paid extra for the dinner at Aladdin's Oasis where we received a fast pass for the show. I don't feel this gave us any viewing advantage at all! Waste of money. Maybe if you ate on the fast pass package at one of the more expensive restaurants you received a better view. Doesn't hole a candle to the Fantasmic in Disney World.

Have seen it before but its still magic
the visual effects the area and the bots and people are choreographed to perfection
Viewing is a problem and some sort of priority setting is worth the money
and its much much better than the Florida show just doesn't compare not the same at all a very poor copy

We've seen it several times. It's well done and exciting for kids The first time we waited an hour or more to hold a good viewing spot. I probably wouldn't do that again unless your kids insist. This time (when the park was much less busy) we watched from a distance without waiting and it was just fine. Tip: Escape a few minutes early to avoid the long shuttle lines as everyone leaves.

Lost of people at the show if you have little ones and who does not at Disneyland get there verry early if you do not want to have the little one on your sholders for the show.

Fantasmic was on our must do list during our July 2018 trip. Because of the time of year, we decided to do the Blue Bayou Fantasmic dining package for this show and were very glad we did. Viewing for the dining package is right at the front of the area near the water. You couldn't get a better spot to view the show.
Unfortunately, unlike WDW's version, there are no seats available to watch the show. You are required to sit on the ground if you are in one of the reserved areas up front (dining packages or fast pass), or stand towards the back of the viewing area. Luckily we received small cushions to sit on as part of our dining package but I noticed others did not. So if you can, maybe bring a blanket to sit on instead of sitting directly on the concrete. I would also suggest picking up a fast pass if you don't have a dining package, or get there early to get a good spot.
The show itself was amazing! I actually preferred it over the WDW version. It is a loud and bright show so keep that in mind if you have littles with sensory issues.
I would highly recommend you don't miss this show when visiting, however, only gave it 4 stars due to having to sit on the ground rather than having actual seats to sit in.

Fantasmic! is a combination of live action and projected Disney images and movie clips on a mist screen. It features fireworks, pyrotechnics, lasers, searchlights, decorated boats, water effects and animatronics, all coordinated to various familiar sound clips taken from Disney movies and broadcasts.
It is usually performed twice a night on the Rivers of America from Tom Sawyer’s Island and lasts about 25 minutes.
Better seating for the reserved sections can be obtained for visitors who purchase a dining package at the Blue Bayou, New Orleans Square Restaurant, River Belle Terrace or Hungry Bear Restaurant. Our reserved area from the Blue Bayou was close to the water in the middle section and included a foam pad to sit on.
The basic story is a voyage through Mickey Mouse's imagination that culminates in a battle against various Disney Villains.
This show is an enjoyable experience and should NOT be missed.

We enjoyed Fantasmic but it is VERY loud for little ones. I highly recommend bringing noise canceling headphones for kiddos sensitive to sound.

This show is both a show with real actors and a watershow with projected images and movies on the water.
Be sure to be in time since the best seats fills up fast and it can be hard to see the real actors if you sit too far away.
Make sure not to sit too far to the front, since the people in the front will get wet.
This is a must see!

this show is amazing. it incorporates fireworks and is a fancy boat parade. However, it is sometimes difficult to get tickets for, and in turn there is usually only 1 show per night. I recommend this for first timers as well as the main street parade at night!

We had VIP seats as our friend is in charge of running the show... a show to keep the kids amazed.. the dragon is amazing ! awesome !!

So at the moment you need a fast pass ticket to get a decent view of this, well worth the effort as the show is spectatular, if a little disjointed. Personally I prefer the fireworks but if you haven't seen this then worth the effort to do so

I got fast passes for this show early that morning. No details on the pass other than the area that you should go to... We found a space easy enough but then we were all told to stand as this area was for standing only. At that point lots of people moved. But with having a stroller and young children I didn't want to then try to find another place.
If it had not been for another family my 4 year old wouldn't have seen a thing. As they let him stand with them.
A brilliant show and definitely worth the wait. But Disney should be better organised to enable young children to view it regarding the fast passes. Your tickets are used to get fast passes so how difficult should it be to allow young children a better viewing area??
Loved the show but was very disappointed with the organisation of it.

I said "wow" multiple times before, during and after the Fantasmic show. We went to the later show, and watching the multitudes of people flow by after the fireworks was jaw dropping. Then the show itself was truly spectacular. It did things I have never seen, and the things I had seen it did better. I was super impressed by the the entire thing and am so glad we decided to stick around and see it. It really capped off the day with Disney Magic.

I had premium membership to both parks: Disneyland Park & Disney California Adventure Park a couple years ago. During that year, our family visited both parks over 50 times. Since we live only 10 minutes away from these amusement parks, we frequently played the tour guides for our guests, friends, and relatives when they came to visit. When you visit the Disney California Adventure Park, you have to stay for the Fantasmic light show. The best way to experience the magic of the Fantasmic light show is to claim your spot for viewing right in front of the water across from where the show will be. There is no actual seating that you can reserve or get a Fast Pass for. Disney park management pulled up a couple dozen chairs for their VIP guests. Everyone else would have to come and claim their seats about 3 hours before the show, which normally started around 8:45pm every night, except for some nights during the Winter; they skipped doing this Fantasmic show. Each person cans bring a tarp, a small blanket, or a beach towel big enough for 6 people to seat on. If your group has a dozen people, then, spread out 2 small blankets right on the concrete, 2 people stay behind to take claim of the seating spots, while the other 10 people go to another ride nearby such as the Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones Adventure, or the Honda Light Show at the center of the park. Be sure to return 30 minutes before the Fantasmic show begins. I don't want to spoil what you will see at the show, but a little hint what will be there... The show will have laser light show, water, fire, dragon, music, and Mickey Mouse as the wizard. I had seen this show more than a dozen times, and I recommend the show for all kids and big kids at heart for ages.

This was so worth it. My suggestion is do the waiting time to get a good seat. If you have small children it is very loud and maybe a bit scary but oh so wonderful. It puts the magic in your trip.

Even after years of visiting the park, we just recently stumbled on the Blue Bayou reservation package that includes a premium viewing ticket to Fantasmic. Pretty pricey for us at close to $200 for three for our menu choices, but a wonderful splurge.
It was a terrific treat to be able to sit in the "front row" of the section. The package included adorable seat cushions to make the concrete seating comfortable.
Loved the show with its wide variety of characters, water works, fire works. Incredible use of the ship Columbia for a pirate scene; the Mark Twain paddle boat for the princesses and princes; and the Tom Sawyer Island rafts for character vignettes.

This show was even better than the one in Disneyworld. Our seats were great because we got the package from the River Belle Restaurant reservation. The only problem was the communication on where to meet, who gets in etc. They let the blue ticket fast pass people in first. It looked liked that all these people with the fast pass were going to get first choice of seats. What we didn't know at the time, including the staff, was that there is a section roped off for dinner reservation people.
Overall, while we were waiting to get to our section, the staff were very friendly and patient.

Get a Fast Pass early if you want seating. They start roping off the sidewalk around 5 and limit access to Fast Pass ticket holders for ground seating - and it fills up fast! Great show with water and projections, no fireworks. But stay put and about 15 minutes after show is the evening fireworks - so you are good to go!

Fantastic seating view for this show, worth watching .good show for any age .its amazing how pictures are projected onto water

The whole show is amazing! We've seen the show at least 10 times and every time we walk away saying "WOW"! If you like fireworks, lasers, Disney charactors and Disney story telling you will love Fantasmic!

You cannot go wrong with attending this show. It is absolutely glorious. Now that they have the fast passes for this, I highly recommend using one so you are assured of a good seat and don't have to wait in line for hours. Lots of yummy treats, too. No trip to Disney can be complete without seeing this show,

Hope this show comes back after the construction at Disneyland is complete. Watched this show during Christmas week of 2015 and loved it. Best way to see show is with dinner and show passes...kid friendly since front rows sit on ground.

It's based on Mickey defeating all the familiar bad guys so there are lots of magic battles consisting of fireworks and explosions. I saw one young mother have to leave with 3 crying children who were very afraid ( I could hear her trying to calm them down)It is a very visual display. Don't think I will ever have to see it again. Once was more than enough.

The only downside to this show is how late it is (tough for the little kids - and the tired adults!). But this show is so worth the wait! I know it's an older show that's been running for a long time, but they seem to keep it fresh from a tech standpoint (plenty of LED's and projection features). They now have Fastpass, which assigns a viewing area. We had excellent seats right on the water.

We happened to be in the right spot at the right time. And what a show we got! Spectacular! The lights and firweworks were as you'd expect fom Disney, but adding in the characters as well was just brilliant!

As a southern California resident I've been to Disneyland over a dozen times and I haven't gotten tired of this show. It's a fun, dramatic way to end a day at Disney and definitely memorable for any kids in tow!

We have been to Fantasmic in Orlando and we knew it was worth getting there early to find a good spot. Unfortunately not early enough and unlike Orlando where you get spot to sit down, here it was standing room only.
Our kids managed to find a place at the front and finally we got a good place as well. Its a fantastic Disney light and water show with scenes recreated on water, the sorcerer's apprentice Mickey and the characters emerging on boats. A great Disney treat.

Every time I see this it is better than the last. I got lucky and found a spot right next to the water. The music is incredible! I could watch it over and over.

We spent the entire day at Disneyland. We have 6, 9, and 11 year old kids. This was our last of three days that we were fortunate enough to spread out (no back to back days).
Plan to arrive early and get a fast pass for the 900pm show. You can get these by the Mark Twain ship boarding area. It says to come back at 800pm on the ticket. Plan to be back earlier. We got back at 700pm. This was going to be a long wait for the little ones, but from what I can see after the experience the only way little kids will see it.
We were corralled into a sitting area that was not in the center but was OK. We could see. You have to sit on the ground, so don't wear white shorts. You will be sitting there for at least an hour before the show. Plan to have snacks and a charged phone to play Disneyland Heads Up.
Our kids did have some trouble seeing at times because the lower stage is difficult for them to see when sitting, and if you get someone big sitting in front of you it becomes the same problem you would experience if you were in a standing area. They were able to wiggle themselves into a spot to see because the big people don't move around as easily once they are on the ground.
During the show, floats, boats, and the stage area are easily seen from the seated area.
Another option is to pay for a dinner at some select restaurants and get preferred seating. This just costs more. There are probably reviews for that.
Make sure you stay afterwards for the fireworks. Get as close to the water as possible as they project video during the fireworks show. We asked some taller people to let our smaller people in front of them so they could see.
Then head for the gates when you are done. This was a long day for us. 800am to around 1030pm by the time we got out.

As a regular WDW visitor, I was dying to see Disneyland's Fantasmic! And I loved it!
The Maleficent dragon was spectacular and I really enjoyed Peter Pan's part, that ship was amazing! However there aren't many villains trying to attack Mickey and as much as I enjoyed the show, I think I like the one at Disney World better. I'm not saying that Disneyland's Fantasmic is bad, not at all! I think it's just different. Maybe I'm just used to the theater in Disney World, that's all.
You must get a fastpass if you want to enjoy the show, tho. So I suggest you get one as soon as possible, near Fronteriland, because the sooner you get it, the better "seats" you get. Mom and I got the Green FASTPASS, located on the bridge over Pirates of the Caribbean's entrance, and we had a GREAT view of the show!

We had the fastpass (free one you get by big thunder mountain if you go early enough - the 9pm show was gone by 11am.) We had the blue zone & it was great except for the tree that was in our way. We were able to sit on the ground until 10 minutes before the show & then a cast member told us we had to stand in our section. my sister had the dinner fastpass & they had to stand the whole time. But the show was wonderful - lots of music, dancing, fireworks, video on water & special effects. a definite 'don't miss' event. may be too scary for little ones.

Don't miss it no matter how tired your group is after a long day. Kids will absolutely be amazed this show. From what we saw during our visit, we can say that it was better than what we saw in Tokyo Disney Sea.

I saw the last showing of Fantasmic with a fast pass and I loved it.it was a great end to the day and I loved seeing all the characters. Where we were the view was great and I loved that Disneyland was strict about everyone having to sit as it allows everyone to have a view. However this did mean sitting on cement so if you want I suggest bring something to sit on.
The added bonus of the late show meant we could do rides during the first one. The rides were practically empty so in the space of 20 minutes we were able to ride Pirates of the Caribbean and go twice on the Indiana Jones ride.

Head on over to Rivers of America in the evening and be treated with an amazing outdoor show that only Disney could stage. There are dragons, a pirate ship battle, floating, dancing princesses, images projected in the air and Mickey defeating evil. What else can you ask for!?! Get there a little early to have a good viewing area. Enjoy.

Best Walt Disney's place for taking your kids for a vacation. Their visuals were just stunning, the audio was superb and most importantly, the show actually had a storyline. There was nothing like seeing a fire dragon battling with a giant with your own two eyes!

I have seen Fantasmic at least 5 times now and still can't really follow the story line. It has something to do with Mickey and dreams and the power of the imagination. Basically it is just an excuse to pull characters and songs and images from Disney's extensive catalog and toss it all together into huge production. With images projected onto a water screen and fire boiling up from the water and neon colored apes dancing on floats and princesses and dragons and, well, you get the idea. Fantasmic runs several times a night (check daily schedule) and the park has tried to solve the massive crowd problem by instituting new Fast Passes for priority seating. You get the Fast Passes by the Fantasy Land walkway to Frontier Land. OR you can take advantage of Disney dining packages and get a fast pass with a meal purchase at River Belle Terrace, Aladdin's Oasis, the Blue Bayou or Hungry Bear Restaurant (dessert only). You have to reserve these meals and pay a premium to get the Fast Pass, but it is worth it to be able to show up shortly before show time and get a good seat. We ate at the RIver Belle Terrace at 5:50, had time to do a ride or two, and then return at 8:15 to get our seats directly in front of the stage. The food was average, but the overall experience was good in terms of convenience. For our section of seating, you had to sit on the pavement during the show, so bring a blanket as it can be a bit uncomfortable. If you are sitting up close you may also get some spray from the special effects. You can stay after the first Fantasmic show and watch the Fireworks show over Cinderella's castle. You won't see the images projected on the castle, but you get a good view of most of the fireworks and the music is piped in. The dining program was new to this visit (it is similar to the World of Color dining program) and I imagine Disney will tinker with the specifics over time. So be sure to call in advance to reserve a spot and get the details. We did a priority seating with a dessert box of Fantasmic a few years ago that involved calling in advance to reserve, lining up at Guest Services at the park entrance to get our passes, then lining up again at the Fantasmic podium to select seats and THAT was a cumbersome, frustrating experience. The new program is much more streamlined and convenient.

Don't miss this. Worth the wait and crowds. Very fun for the whole family. don't sit in the front unless you want to get wet.

This show on the Rivers of America includes both a Pirate Ship and Steam Paddle Boat. The music and effects are fantastic. The setting is a great creative use of space. Highly recommend this.
The only reason not to go... All the ride queues drop down to walk on status while the show is going on, so you can get some seriously good ride time.
But I think you should watch the show.

How on earth do they do it? I understand the concept of projection on water, but this really is amazing and worth seeing.
There is a very good system to 'crowd control' so everyone is comfortable and directed to sections so there will not be overcrowding.. Leave it to the imagineers..

Nothing special. Disneyland was way too crowded and we couldnt see much with so many people in the way

We had really adventurous time and the fun was absolutely top notch.
Great place to be with friends or family.

this show is a must see !! the holograms on the water is amazing along with the live action on the stage and on the water. The fireworks and water are awe inspiring.

From the get get go this is wonderful. Much better than "World of Color".
Would give "Fantasmic a "20 out of 10". World of Color gets a 5. Sorry.
Try and get a fast pass or Fantasmic.

Going there with some expectations and stayed for the show. Disappointed with the show as the story is confusing and not link. Will not stay for the show again

The show is fairly similar to the one at the Studios in some ways but very different in others. The Peter Pan storyline at Disneyland utilizing the sailing ship Columbia is far better than the Pocahontas one at Studios. I feel the finale with Steamboat Willie at Studios is better, but the use of Tom Sawyer Island works well. While the seating is closer to the action at Disneyland, sitting on the ground gets a bit rough...

It's a great show, but as it's not in a proper venue, it's a bit of nightmare if you have kids and want a decent view. Fast pass is fine, but it's a long time to wait, to secure the decent view.

The Fantasmic show is absolutely wonderful! My family and I have seen this show both in December of 2010, and in December of 2014, and both times we were thoroughly entertained. Whether you're young or old, this show is so well done, and worth the wait. We arrived to find a spot an hour early so that we would have a good view. We stood along the bridge walk-way above the Pirates of Caribbean, and we had a fantastic view. You can always ask one of the staff members where they would recommend sitting. I prefer standing somewhere in the center of the show rather than a side view. Some people buy the Fantasmic Dinner Package at the Blue Bayou Restaurant or River Belle Terrace. Check out Disney's website to book your dinner and show. A Fastpass is required now for the show, so be sure to go and do that when you arrive. A show time will be listed on your Fastpass. Have fun!

Fantasmic is one of my daughter's favorite things to do at Disney, but it hadn't been performed the last few times we were there. When she found out it was back, we had to go. But like so many things at Disney, you have to invest some time and effort in order to get a good viewing spot, especially if you have vertically challenged people in your group. You can get Fast Passes for Fantasmic, or you can purchase special Dining Packages that also get you special seating. We chose the Hungry Bear option (you can also do River Belle or Blue Bayou - both pricier options that are "dine in."). You show up at a "reserved" time and choose from one of four options. Then you get a "to go" bag so you can take the food with you to eat elsewhere in the park, or you can just stay at the Hungry Bear (note: the food that comes with the dining package is fancier than the typical Hungry Bear option and my teenage kids didn't enjoy their meals very much). Then you queue up about an hour before show time near the Harbor Cove restaurant - this is a bit tricky to navigate in that there is NO signage and you need to queue with the specific dining package you purchased - as my daughter quickly figured out - the more you pay for your dining package, the better your view of the stage. Ask Cast Members where to stand - it is not obvious. People begin queuing before the suggested 8:00 time and those earlier in the queue will get first pick of seating when the group is led in about 45 minutes before show time. Also, those who pay more appear to get a padded cushion in their package - those cobblestones get hard quickly and you are required to sit during the performance. Or bring your own blankets/cushions. There are three water "screens" where the animated visuals are projected. The reserved seating gets you closer to the center screen and affords the best view of the stage. If you sit in the first few rows, you will get a mist from the water effects in the show, which would be good on a hot evening, but we were there when it was chillier and we needed jackets. You can exit the area once you have been seated, but there won't be enough time to visit any rides - but you can take a bathroom break or go get coffee/dessert - just ask the cast member to give you a ticket so you can get back in. Once the show starts, it is much the same as previous versions, but now the pirate ship battle is based on Pirates of the Caribbean and it seemed like there were some other minor changes - my daughter said the dragon was missing - I honestly don't remember - the show doesn't make a lot of narrative sense - it is a loose storyline to allow them to incorporate as many different movies/characters as possible. You get Mickey, fireworks, water effects, fireworks, boats and rafts and music - the whole thing is pretty fabulous (I think it is much more dynamic a show than the fireworks). IF you go to the earlier showing of Fantasmic, you can stay in your spot and watch the Fireworks which start immediately after. They project the images that appear on Cinderella's Castle on the water screens. It isn't quite the same as watching from in front of the castle (you won't see the flying effects or all of the fireworks), but it is still a fairly decent vantage point. If you are going to invest time in securing a good spot for a show, I think Fantasmic is a better choice than the current PixarFest Fireworks show.

The show was worth the wait. Get your fast pass first thing in the morning. I'm serious.. make a beeline for the fast pass station as soon as you can, it's first come first serve. While it is a fast pass, you can still get fast passes later for the rides. You can't see the show without a fast pass. The fast pass station is located behind the Big Thunder roller coaster by the Big Thunder ranch restaurant in Frontierland. I also recommend taking some activities and getting in line 2 hours before the show. You will be sitting for the show. After the 9pm show, hang around in your same spot for 10 minutes you can catch the fireworks show that takes place over the castle. You can't see the castle but you can see the fireworks. The show has character appearances, music, watershow, EVERY Disney character makes an appearance.

Fantasmic! is a fantastic show. We prefer the Blue Bayou Fantasmic Dining Package. However, all the dining packages are nice. Whether you decide to do the dining packages or not, you must see Fantasmic! You will not be disappointed! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Great show but plan on staking a claim for a good view 2 hours in advance...give that job to the grandparents!

It was a wonderful show of lights, fireworks, and all the Disney magic rolled into one outstanding show. No dislikes here

After traipsing around Disneyland all day with three children we weren't sure if Fantasmic would be worth the wait? But in pure Disney style, it was a great way to end our trip to the park - even if we didn't have fast passes.
Yes it is busy, and if you haven't sat for hours to try and secure an 'ideal' spot you may miss a few details but overall you will enjoy it nonetheless.

This is one of my favorite shows to watch in Disneyland. I love the music and the dancing monkeys are fun to watch. But the best part is the fire breathing dragon. Be careful if traveling with little ones, as they may get a little scared if you are sitting close. This is a must see show.

Great show! If you have never seen it, I would highly recommend paying the money for the preferred seating section. It was around $60 per person and included a dessert tray and coffee/hot chocolate. The dessert tray is huge so plan to take it home with you! The best part is you get to sit in chairs for the show!! And your spot is reserved, so you don't have to waste hours holding your seats for the show. I also recommend doing the 9:00 show, that way you can stay in your seats for the fireworks!

This show is a family favorite and since they've revamped it, we love it even more! Keep in mind that these changes include getting FastPass for a reserved spot for the show (similar to how they do the World of Color). They do have some small standby spots for last minute viewers. The early restaurants offer premier seating if you purchase one of their dining packages. One down fall is that our children tend to nod off before the show starts sometimes because it can be too late after a long day at the park. :-/
What's nice about the reservations is that it really helps with crowd control. We also love that you can watch the fireworks after the show with all the of images that are normally projected on the castle, on the water spray from the river. It is really neat. Fantastic itself will long be remembered in our family and is a must see for everyone.

I love Fantasmic! Honestly I've seen it 20 plus times in my life and it never gets old. Best show in Disneyland by a long shot!

I hate the wait for something but the last time we decided to wait for this show we were told about the Desert seating... This was a fantastic way to enjoy the show and have some deserts.. which were a little sample of various treats from around the park with some cheeses and meats.
The staff was amazing and more than helpful - I would strongly suggest if you are going to wait for this show do it desert style.

Awesome, wonderful show! Staking out a spot used to be more difficult and time-consuming, but it's easier now that they've added Fastpass. The second show of the evening tends to be less crowded than the first.

Spectacular show! The witch turning to a dragon, the snake, the holograms, the ships, the fire on the lake, the fireworks....etc.etc The best show in southern California!

the projection of disney movies on spraying water is really exhilarating. find a good spot to view, it's well worth it.

Amazing show!
I hadn't seen this since I was a little kid and thought it would be great...and I was right. The special effects are so amazing and it follows the boat parade and is followed by fireworks so you can't go wrong!
If you are visiting the happiest place on Earth, you absolutely must watch this!

We visit Disneyland at least once every year and sometimes two or more if we are really lucky. This is one of the first things that we make sure we get to do at least once during our stay there. We always make sure that we get there early so that we have great seats. I can't say anything bad about this show. Little ones, older ones and grandmom and grandpop love this show. There is something for everyone to see, oooooh and awwwww over. It is just the right length of time so that you aren't too sore from sitting while watching this show. I highly recommend this when visitin Disneyland.

We walked to the lakeside for the 10.30 Fantasmic show straight after watching the fireworks at 9.30pm. The lake side was already supercrowded 30mins before the show actually started. We were lucky to find a spot with an unobstructed view just after the cordoned off area reserved for the fast pass holders/the people who had booked a dining package (these people had to sit down on the concrete floor though, whereas we had to stand).
The show was fantastic, with special light effects and images cleverly projected onto the water gushes from the fountains, the use of the old fashioned Columbia ship to reenact scenes from Pirates of the Caribbean, plus all your Disney characters waving from the Mark Twain river ship!
As others have mentioned, you might be tempted to omit watching this show in favour of the shorter lines for the rides, but take my word for it, this show is truly well worth watching! :)

We have been going to Disney since our kids (19, 17, 16, 12) were toddlers and have never watched Fantasmic. We have done plenty of other Disney experiences such as parades and World of Color. On our most recent trip we got fastpasses for Fantasmic. I can't believe we haven't done this sooner. Amazing show! I can't imagine doing this without the fastpass though. We didn't do any of the dining experiences, however we did utilize the fastpass. Great show, great music. True Disney experience. We will definitely do this one again!!

Make sure to get fast pass tickets to this as soon as you get in Disneyland Park. It can sell out. If it does, try early to get a table at the restaurants in behind. With the fast pass you can roll in just before the show starts. We saw the 9:00 show then stayed out for the fireworks.
The show is fantastic! It is about Mickey’s dream and encompasses all the great Disney characters and villains. It is standing room only.

I had dinner at one of the restaurants to get the Fantasmic priority seating. At Blue Bayou I got a seat cushion and fantastic views. You sit on the ground for the show and the seating area fills up quick, so get there when the seating opens.

This show projects images onto water screens and combines music, live action and pyrotechnics all on the rivers of America. A showdown of good vs evil with mickey mouse and maleficent!

How they pulled this off with water, movies, music and special effects - it is just out of this world good. Make sure to get a FP to save you a spot. So worth it!!!! Something not to miss! My teen loved it!!! Mom loved it because Just WOW!!!! Our fave park of the two is this one. It would remind you of a tiny WDW magic kingdom, but the talent is so much more obvious than DL CA adventure.

If you are going to see the awesome show, invest in a dining package for it. Blue Bayou is the best, otherwise even with fast passes you end up sitting on dirty concrete until they tell you to get up and then you stand up for the entire show. If you have little ones get there super early it is on flat ground and most adults won't move for kiddos. We gave our spots to a family because it was our third time watching the show. If you don't have fast passes it is even a worse viewing situation. Definitely worth the dining deals for the sitting. Even the 9:45 show in late February was super crowded!

We had the best seats in the house & didn't even need to make reservations for them. The show is amazing & worth just hanging around frontierland to watch.

I am so very glad that Disney implemented the fast pass seating for Fantasmic, as I got really, really tired of the locals blanket parties that would spread out a blanket for 12 people four hours before the show started. That was a completely unfair practice, so Disney implemented a much more fair way to see the show up close without having to get there four hours early.
Out of the three dining packages one can get for the show, the Blue Bayou has the best priority of them all. Sure, it's a little pricey ($61) but it comes with ANYTHING on the menu and the souvenir seat cushion.
True confession: yes. this one of the Disney attractions that can make me cry. The princess medley is a keeper, as is the larger-than-life Peter Pan battle scene.

It's expensive, but try to do the special seating with a dinner package. This gets you right up front. A fast pass is also available, but the dinner area gets better seating.

Yes, this show is a "must do" and a true wonder. It's lovely, great effects and a real story.
However there are some caveats, even for something so fantastic. "Seating" is hard to get. Either plunk down a hour + before or prepare to have poor viewing. And if you do find a good spot, make sure they will let you sit there for the show! If you put down a blanket, be prepared to be trompled.
If you sit really close you will get sprayed and the fire is alarmingly close.
If you dont have young kids, go for the second show.

I like this show better than World Of Color at California Adventures. It is easier to see, you don't get wet, and I think its just a much better show. My kids all like it better too. They are both worth watching, but I watch this one over and over, and have seen World of Color once...

I love this show, but it has a lot of explosions, so may not want to take really young children to it.

Disney knows how to pull the heartstrings and they did not hold back with this show. The theme of imagination is carried throughout the show and Micky, as the Sorcerer's Apprentice, is the star of the show. There are lights, water spraying, video projections, fireworks, boats cruising by, dancers, and a great sound systems to make this a complete multi-media experience. In addition, when Fantasmic is over, one can remain seated and take in the fireworks show. This is a great added bonus, as the light and water show continues through the fireworks. We did the priority seating through dinner at Blue Bayou; it was pricey but we got seat cushions and excellent seating front and center.

New fast pass process so beware of the rules. Still worth seeing once each time we visit. Got the dining package at River Belle Terrace. Kids liked food.

This was a fabulous show but with small children, difficult to get them to stay in one place for any length of time
Even after a long wait, family members still tried to push in front to meet up with other family members which does not go down too well

Even the hard to please teenage boys loved this one. Full of surprises and special effects, a really worthwhile addition to our time at Disney.

During previous visits to Disneyland we reserved fast passes for the show. We sat on the ground while waiting and then were able to stand up. Not the best view but worth the fast pass. This time around we decided to buy the reserved seating dining package with River Belle Terrace. The food was okay, the service was great and we were excited to see the new show from reserved seating. When left the restaurant, we were told to check in about an hour before the show at a designated entrance, we found other people actually were allowed in early, but no big deal. We were taken to our area and we thought we had a great view right next to the people that bought dining packages with Blue Bayou, that was until the show was about to begin. After sitting on hard, cold Cobblestone for over an hour, we were told to stay sitting down so people behind us could see. The ground is not slanted, it's all flat, I struggled to comprehend how sitting down was of any advantage to them unless they were standing. If you were sitting behind a person taller than you, all you would see was the back of their heads. We were all tightly packed in and for those of us close to the front we had the beautiful rod iron fence that goes around the Lagoon blocking our view. The whole point of buying these dining packages is to have preferred viewing, had I known the reality, I would have just gotten a fast pass and stood with the others in that area, they had a much better view than we did. The people in front of us, directly behind the fence asked a cast member if their child could stand up, sitting down all the child could see were the rod iron bars, which was all we could see as well. I just saw a new post on Disneyland's Facebook site with a picture that showed exactly the view we had and they were also upset about paying for dining reserved viewing just to end up watching the show through the bars of a iron fence. My hips were burning from sitting on the cold, hard ground for nearly two hours, my neck was super sore from trying to look up from my sitting position to see above the fence, my kid got to see very little. The picture is our view from the second row behind the rod iron fence. As you can see nothing happening at water level is visible and anything at mid-level was still hard to see above the fence itself. I felt sorry for the people behind the lamp post who were sitting behind it with no way to look around it. This is the third time we see the show (previous version) and we have always stood for it, but it's the first time I paid for premium view, I don't think I'm doing this again.

We liked Fantasmic, although after walking around the park all day and then having to stand up and make the kids stand while you wait for the show to start, and continue standing throughout the show is honestly a bit much for the little ones...okay, maybe me too...

This show never fails to make me cry. The night I went was the second night for the new fast pass system. It was a bit hectic, but I understand they were working out the kinks.

We saw the Fantasmic show at Disneyland in February 2018 with our children ages 7, 7 and 10. It was our first time at Disneyland, so we really didn't know what to expect. The show was amazing! We loved it, as adults, and so did the kids. It was bright and loud, and things were coming out of the water in all directions. We especially loved when the Riverboat went by with the dancing Disney characters. We had purchased the Fantasmic Dining package at River Belle Terrace, so we had front row seats right on the water's edge. We sat on the ground, which was cold, but I noticed that other people had come prepared with blankets and cushions (they were obviously more experienced!) If you can, bring a blanket to wrap around you or pull a sweater from your backpack to sit on. Arrive 30 min early if you can so you can pick your best seats (probably even earlier if you don't have a dining package). With little ones, it is nice having seats close to the water, but with the scale of the show I think you'd be able to see it from all surrounding areas. The main areas along the water get roped off, as they reserved for those with the dining packages. I highly recommend this show and am disappointed that it is being refurbished during our next visit in 2019!
A must see at Disney
If you love Disney then you will love this show!! All that great magic that comes along with Disney is in this one show! Characters, dancing, props, and of course music and fireworks 😊 I loved the old school cartoon references and skits. Having it right on the water adds just that extra touch Disney is famous for. If you want preferred seating and you plan on eating there anyway they have a great dinner and show package! We went to the Blue Bayou (Amazing!!) however they offer less expensive dinning options as well.
