From above Riverton, CT to below New Hartford there is easy access to the river. Bike, hike, canoe, kayak swim and fish along the length of this crystal clear and very cold river. You Will not find any commercial development in this rural stretch of river. There are several parks along the river which are never crowded. You can rent kayaks and canoes in New Hartford from outfitters who will put you in and pick you up. You can not find a better fly fishing stream in this part of the world. It is technical fishing but the rewards are worth the effort. Upcountry Fly Shop in New Hartford is the place to start. Pick up very tasty sandwiches at the general store in Riverton.
