Definitely a tourist destination. Be sure to visit the Stockyards Museum with a lot of interesting history. We enjoyed just sitting and watching people spend their money. It was nice to see all the Christmas decorations at dusk. They need to get some cowboys decked out with hats and spurs walking the streets to add a little more flavor to the atmosphere. It wasn't too crowded at the 4 o'clock longhorn drive on a Thursday afternoon.

Waited for the Steer Drive down main street. Lasted about 3 minutes. Disappointing. Went on a Sunday. Lots closed. Food pricy. Shops pricy. Not much to do.

Lots to see here. We were only going to have a few hours but a trip got cancelled and we ended up spending the day and evening here. We did a tour which was good and ver informative. The museum is worth a look. We saw the cattle run at 4pm. Just a great atmospheric place to visit.

Not walkable from Fort Worth, the parking being $11+ is a bit excessive although admission is free so it sort of makes up for it.
It's packed full of shops, bars, restaurants and the like playing on the historic setting but you need not use them - a couple of hours simply to take in the surroundings and watch the cattle drive is more than enough.
Worth noting that to facilitate the cattle drive, they close the road about ten minutes before, so if you want to make it in time for that, don't leave it too late!

So much fun! A great place to wander, eat, and shop. Loved seeing the longhorns coming down the street - just watch your eyes đ

We drove from Dallas and parked easily right near the entrance ($16). We took the one hour historical tour offered inside the Stockyard ($7). It was excellent! Joel was our guide and made this incredibly interesting. We had wandered around a bit when we arrived, but wouldn't have enjoyed the area anywhere near as much if we hadn't taken this tour. Joel was very good at speaking in shaded areas. Although there is walking it is fairly short with plenty of rests and a leisurely pace. Joel was very informative and gave a great deal of information without overwhelming the participants. He answered questions throughout the tour. Very enjoyable and we highly recommend this.
We had initially booked the four hour tour from Dallas, but it was cancelled after we had paid (we did receive a refund). We rescheduled for the afternoon, but they changed the time in the morning which would have interfered with our previously scheduled evening plans. We were grateful to have had this tour available. Can't image the other would have been better except including transportation.

Loved the food and shopping choices. We were there for the 4:00pm longhorn cattle drive. It was fun to see these huge animals and there was a guide that shared alot of cool information.

We headed for this area as it sounded fun and it was. The old style buildings & ships meant a there was lots to see & do. We found the ride in the old train a fun thing to do and get a glimpse of Fort Worth. The long horn cows being driven down the street together with the Wild West âgunfightâ which was interesting. We also took in the rodeo in Cowtown of which the barrel racing was spectacular example of horsewomanship.

We loved this place. Parking was a little challenging to figure out but then it made sense. We had fun shopping and exploring the area, including watching the cattle drive.

The Stockyard experience was worth the visit. There was just a lot to see and do all in one day. There is something for everyone.

We're fans of history, so we loved touring the Fort Worth Stockyards Historic District, down to the cobblestone streets, the Exchange building and the coliseum. They do two "cattle drives" everyday - one in the morning and one in the afternoon. There are "cowboys/girls" who drive about 15 longhorns down the street, right in front of you...it's really amazing to see. There are plenty of shops and restaurants and (I believe) a few hotels within the district. There is also a maze that kids may enjoy - a few from our group did anyway.

Took this historic walking tour with Joel as our guide on a total whim â so glad we did! Learned tons of info about the area. Joel was easy to listen to and informative without being boring. Tour took about 1 hr and 15 mins but felt like he could have taken longer for sure. Especially liked the information about the old stockyard stations building and how it was all built.
For all those complaining of prices, I feel like they must not travel much. Totally comparable to anywhere else that tourists aim for.

This was our first time staying in Fort Worth, about a 3.5-hour drive from the Houston area. This is a must go back to visit site. The Stockyards are great, you can spend so much time there and the Longhorn Bull March two times a day is a must see. Great shops and restaurants also!

Enjoyed the day touring the historic district and watching the cattle drive. Our tour guide, Joel, was great.

The stockyards was fun to visit. We enjoyed a little shopping, Grabbed a beer to walk around, watched the Longhorn cattle drive and had a bite to eat. Beautiful day to be outside sightseeing.

Really fun area. Lots to do. Great shopping. Tons of bars and restaurants. Classic cars. Cattle you can ride on for a picture. Rodeo at night. Fun spot.

Imperdivel - Old Country Texas, with shops, typical buildings and Long Horn cattle parade, sales of boots and cowboy hats,

This is a great place to go when you visit Fort Worth. Be prepared to be there for the day. There is lots of shops, restaurants, museums, cows, and things to do. Parking is $15.00 for the day.

It's a must-see. Okay, maybe a little cheesy, but if you've never been, you must go.
They parade a small herd of longhorn cattle down the street and everyone snaps pictures, you sit on a big bull and snap a picture, you walk through some gifty shops, go to the John Wayne Museum, eat too much BBQ, have a few drinks... it's what you do when you go to Texas.
Go on a Friday or Saturday and stay for the rodeo. It's great fun, they move along quickly though several different events, and these are not actors; they're actually trying to do well.
Relax; you're on vacation, enjoy.

We had a few hours to spend before leaving town and this was a fun way to spend it. Enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the Hotel Drover on their lovely patio, visited several of the shops, and enjoyed the cattle drive. Really enjoyed our time there, well worth a visit and everyone was very friendly.

Tons of things to see and do. Great places to eat and cute stores for shopping. Good place to go with the family to walk around.

This area is neat to see but so expensive. The only free thing to do there is watch them corral the longhorns, which lasts less than 5 minutes. You can sit one for $5USD, and that lasts 30 seconds. Every souvenir shop sold cheap overpriced t-shirts. I felt ripped off here. Disappointing.

The stockyards are great. The area is touristy and different and fun which are all great things but what makes the stockyards extra cool is that it has all that while also having a sense of authenticity to it.

Our family of 5 enjoyed the shopping and activities. There are plenty of options to appeal to many different interests with lots of families and children. As the sun went down, the atmosphere became more adult oriented. A younger demographic cruised the district with loud music blasting from their car speakers, lots of folks coming in to walk around and/or have dinner and drinks. Everyone seemed reasonably behaved so we enjoyed people watching.

Nice experience, bought ourselves a pair of cowboy hats and relaxed with a beer and some ribs. You get a real cowbboy feeling visiting this place.

We really enjoyed watching the drovers take care of the long horns behind the stock yards. They really do a lot more than just walk the cattle down main street.
TIPS : Stay on the sidewalks when the herd starts walking. Be mindful of everyone else who wants to take a photo or see them.
There are a lot of shop and things to do. We found that they all seem to carry basically the same things and the pricing is much higher than if you weren't in the stockyards.
Yes if you want an experience and want to see long horns up close this is the place to be.

We stopped here on the recommendation of friends. There is a lot of shopping, quite a few repetitive gift shops and a some high end stores. It looks like the area is in flux--lots of "coming soon" signs were visible in empty storefronts. The cattle drive was nice to see, but definitely not worth waiting around for. We also did the maze, which was more fun than I expected.

There is a walking tour I suggest to do! There is the museum in the Livestock Exchange building thatâs cool. The cattle drive is amazing we where here 4 days and the watched the drive all 8 times.

Worth the stop. Quite a few bars, shops and places to eat. There is cattle drive with Cowboys on horses. It is very well handled with the crowds including the kids. You can ride a stage coach and/or walk around and enjoy all the sites. There was a live gunfight ( not real guns) show and a train that you can ride one way with reservations. In the future I plan to look into that.

The district has so much character, from the historic buildings to the daily cattle drives down the streets. If youâre looking to experience Texas cowboy culture, this is the place to be.

We went to the 11:30 cattle drive since the 4 pm one was canceled due to the heat throughout the month of July. We got there right before 11, and it was getting packed already. Parking was also hard to find. We did find a spot on the curb. A few men on horses came out and explained the process. The actual parade of long horns went by super fast. We then explored the shops which we enjoyed. We also ended up with a unique cow foot stool. They were having a gun show with the men on horses which got crowded. There were other things there like a petting zoo which we didnât visit.

3 generations had a great time exploring the stockyards. So much to do-that we are already planning a return trip. The old cattle chutes are cleverly repurposed into shops and restaurants-and thereâs plenty of opportunity to grab and carry your favorite beverage with you as you browse. Donât miss the cattle drive! Itâs short -well worth your time.

Everything about the Stockyards is fun. Odd that it's a tourist trap that is totally genuine. Be cautious of the way over-priced new places that are trying to be Dallas/LA/NYC to take advantage of growing tourism at the Stockyards, but at least they genuinely reflect a real culture.
MAJOR HIDDEN GEM: Check out the Herd Experience, Fri-Sat, 1:30 PM behind the Stock Exchange. No admission charge! 45-60 minutes of informative, entertaining cowboys giving real history of cattle drives that built Ft. Worth.

We timed our arrival to ensure we'd see the cattle drive in the afternoon. It was a smaller bunch of longhorns than I saw years ago but fun anyhow. I'm not a shopper so I value an area that I can enjoy without the restriction of commercial enterprise.

This was an interesting day. We just missed the morning cattle drive, but were able to catch the afternoon one. They herd cattle right down the street. It was cool and was followed by a parade to end the St. Patricks Day Festival. This is definitely something to see at least once. There is a lot of shopping that can be done. There were also several musical events. They were also having armadillo races with I enjoyed.

I don't think a trip to Fort Worth is inclusive unless you plan to visit the Stockyards. Some of it is very authentic and some of it is very touristy. But all aspects are fun.

We loved the Stockyards! We saw the 11am cattle drive and stayed for the one at 4. I sat on a longhorn steer, something that was on my bucket list. Listened to a great country band (Marshall from Katy Tx) outside the rodeo arena. We topped the night off with a wonderful steak dinner at Cattlemanâs.

Really unique experience! I enjoyed the longhorn parade. I loved walking around in the shopping area and they even have a small museum with many things to look at! The ladies at the museum were extremely informative. We were there in an off season time so no crowds. (Make sure to check out the Cowtown Coliseum. Sadly, we were not there when a rodeo was on.)

Super cool to visit the Fort Worth Stockyards. There is tons to do and see and eat here, definitely one of the highlights for me visiting Fort Worth. Can't wait to visit again one day.

A visit to the Stockyards is certainly part of being in Fort Worth. Even if everything is very touristy, a walk through the streets is still entertaining and worth seeing. We arrived just in time for the Longhorns and watched the herd being led out of town. Actually, we imagined this herd a lot bigger, but it was still nice to look at. After a few minutes the spectacle was over again. Otherwise it has many different shops with all kinds of souvenirs, shoes, clothing, etc. as well as various restaurants. Families with children in particular are offered some entertainment and you can easily spend several hours here.

Dallas, Houston, etc. are typically modern-like, and there are a few places where you can feel like Texas Guana. It is also possible to travel by train directly connected to Dallas, which may not operate on weekends. And you can only drive in one direction, so the train must be checked. There is a direct train from Dallas airport and you can take the bus in about 5 minutes. There is a time to observe the cattle march, so check the time and it is difficult to find shadows in the horizontal zone. Boots, Texas hats and a variety of stores available. It is possible to see enough in half a day. It's also nice to catch a day, but it's relatively expensive to stay nearby, and it's also a way to come by train (Vandepass) while staying near the airport.

A super Wild West experience. You can immerse yourself in the world of the wild west, see rodeo, a cattle drive is organized for display. There is plenty of traditional food, museums, shops and live music in bars and saloons. Anyone interested in Westerns must have been here

The stock yards in Fort Worth is well worth the visit. You must see the long horn cattle drive and Billy Bobs. Other than that relax among old west surroundings.

They are chasing all the civilian horseback riders and cowboys from the stock yards, that is why we come there, what is wrong with the city of ft worth, I guess traditions does not count, for anything in ft worth, people do not go there any more go farther west...

Crazy loud and crazy. Lots of people who likely know nothing about stockyards or livestock down there pretending to be cowboys but super fun for people watching.
Low riders, bikers, loud stereos, drinking on the streets is legal, lawn chairs set up on sidewalks, bars, restaurants, expensive shopping. It was great if you donât have anxiety issues.
Good police presence and we felt a little more safe than we did at Deep Ellem.
Lots of wedding part and coming of age celebrations.
Pretty clean. We saw very few transients or homeless in the area which is way different than San Antonio or Bricktown OKC which is disturbing at times.
Cant wait to go back.

We did the tourist stuff and went to the rodeo. We were glad to be there in April. The heat and crowds in the summer have to be crazy. Parking was somewhat of a trick, but after circling we finally found a spot in a dusty lot and about 1/2 mile walk to the Main Street. Note to those with walking difficulties, a lot of un even surfaces including brick sidewalks and potholes in the dirt areas. Watch the cattle drive, they are incredible animals. Sat in front of the stockyard and listened to a young girls sing. She was great and wouldnât be surprised if she becomes a star some day. (I think her name was Sophia Lettrel (sp)). Our favorite part was the rodeo. Very entertaining and interesting to watch both the cowboys/cowgirls and the audience!

Fairly crowded on a Sunday afternoon/evening but heard George Strait had just done concerts. Went specifically for history, architecture, John Wayne Experience but restaurants are good, museums interesting and, for good or bad, the area keeps expanding shops, restaurants, etc. More than a couple of days might have been too much, but certainly worth seeing and doing.

Fun tourist trap. Everything costs money except access to the stockyards. Nothing is a deal ($3 for a bottle of water, $8 per person to go into the maze, $5 to sit on a longhorn, et cetera). This was my first time and my kids had a decent time but if you are looking for some to do that is cheap, go somewhere else. I would likely not go back or recommend to someone else unless this is what you are looking for.

Well worth the trip. The area is centered around the cattle drive, shopping, and food/ drinks. Cool place to spend a couple days.

This is a super cool place! It was interesting to learn the history of Fort Worth and the impact Cattle all over the world. The daily cattle drive, shows and activities really bring the old west to life. This is a great place to visit!

How fun! A must see while in Fort Worth / Dallas! Great rodeo, nice shops and be sure to catch the cattle drive down the main street!

Tour during a trip to Gaylord Texan convention center. Was great tour guide. Bring a bottle of water. About an hour tour. Outside and inside , mostly shaded areas. Interesting . If you go around 1130 and 4 thereâs a free âparadeâ but really a cattle drive down the street. Shops and eateries . Neat little getaway.

We are on a road trip of Texas and when Fort Worth was mentioned you immediately think of The Stockyards. It was pretty much as expected.. a bit tacky in some parts but in general we loved the whole cowboy vibe and itâs going to remain through the Stockyards. Managed to catch a Rodeo . Did some of the great saloons here and ate some fine bbq .. We ticked all our boxes and more ..
Texas should be proud of its heritage and boy this part of the state raises its flag good and proper. Wonderful place.
Comes highly recommended.. Enjoy !

This was our first stop on a tour down through Texas Hill Country. It was great. It is clearly still a developing area, but already has alot to do. Within in 3 hours we saw a long horn cattle drive, were able to sit on one, had a great meal (steak for me), walked around with a can of beer in my hand (like an American adult should be able to), listened to great free live Texas Couny music in the park, and then went to a rodeo!
We loved it. You could spend a day or two in the Stockyards, not a week. But those days will be Texas Cowboy fun, and that is why we went.

The historic Fort Worth Stockyards Exchange is a must see if youâre in town. You can see it in a few hours or a full day depending on how much time you want to spend eating, drinking and listening to live music. The longhorns walk the Main Street twice a day. We saw the 1130am walk. We stood just past the large stockyards exchange sign- that hangs across the street-next to the railroad crossing. The cattle start there and itâs a perfect view! There are so many cute shops for boots and hats. Thereâs a petting zoo thatâs not too $. Thereâs also a train you can ride around the stockyards area and a gunslinger show after the cattle walk. Most of the restaurants and bars have live music so choose any of them and relax. Itâs worth a half day to enjoy Texas!!

I had always wanted to go to Fort Worth Stockyards and I finally got there! What a wonderful place to visit and experience the western atmosphere. We are cattle farmers and appreciate the former stockyards and how cattle were brought to market. We loved the John Wayne Museum as we are both fans.

Alot to see and check out..great place to walk too..when u think Texas you really are thinking Stockyards.Chief Records is a must stop too

While celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary, we wanted to take a trip to somewhere we had never been. We traveled from Georgia to Texas and visited Waco, Dallas, and Fort Worth. While visiting the stockyards, we took the Historical Walking Tour. Our tour, guided by a retired law enforcement officer and native Fort Worth Texan, was great! Our guide Joel's vast knowledge and passion for the history of Fort Worth and the Stockyards are what made the tour so engaging. It was a really fun way to tour the stockyards and learn about the history of how the cattle industry in Fort Worth was established. I would recommend this tour to everyone!

If you keep in mind that this is a tourist trap, you will be OK. The shops, restaurants, bars anrd attractions all want your money. Having said that the atmosphere is nice. It is a little throwback to the old days. I have been to other places, but at least here it all seems real and breaths authenticity. Paid parking is close by. The longhorns go at 1130 and 1400. Don't expect a big thing. there are about 10-15 longhorns making their way through the streets at a leisurely pace. There are some craftsmen about selling their goods are different stores (hats, boots). But remember all the hand made goods come at a price. You can finish you day with a nice meal and/or beer and go to the rodeo which will put on a nice show

The daily "cattle drive" is really around 30 tame longhorns walking down the street corralled by 4-6 cowboys. If you are looking to buy some western wear, there are several places to do so (though they are not cheap). If you have extra time in Fort Worth, it's worth the $10 parking fee to check it out, but I would not make a special trip to see this.

Really neat to watch the cattle drive down the main street. Lots of nice side shops and eateries. You can get your picture taken while sitting on a steer if you like. Horseback and carriage rides also available. A little pricy in some places ( who knew you could spend $2000+ on a cowboy hat) but lots to see and do. Well worth the trip
rodeo show if you go on Fri or Sat

Ok, grown adults here with no kids⊠kids would likely have enjoyed more. With that said, definitely worth a visit and walking around. Time your visit to catch the cattle drive in the morning or afternoon. The gun fight afterwards can be skipped, unless you want to see some guys that will tell you a bazillion times that they had bit parts in 1883, although one of the gunfighters is clearly Sam Elliotâs crusty doppelgĂ€nger.

As this occurs twice a day - we did it twice!
It's the same spiel each time, but it's free and unique. I would advise only getting there 15 minutes before, there are plenty of bench seats. It gets very hot - so the morning drive is better.
Immediately after, just 5 minutes up the road to the station is the Comedy Gun Fight. It is exactly that. Loud, funny and free. Great fun for the price of a good tip.

Visit often. Love the food, bars, live music, dancing, museums. The amount of history in one place is amazing. From Billy Bobs largest honkey tonk to the Railroad

We missed the cattle drive and there seemed to be nothing else. There were shops selling merchandise and places to purchase food but not much more. There needs to be better signage so people know what they can do. It was a hot day and not the time for wandering around. Parking was expensive for not doing anything much.

Visiting the stockyards is a great day. Of course the cattle drive is the main attraction, but there is plenty to keep you busy for several hours. Plus some good food !

The Fort Worth stock yard is definitely worth a visit. Really nice to walk around in old cowboy surroundings where you can see long horn cattle and cowboys on horseback. Many fine restaurants and bars. You must not miss a toboggan shop

The Stockyards is not just historical and education but also fun! Not too much educational stuff there except the atmosphere and buildings. The historic hotel is a must see for the beauty of it. There are many great restaurants and shopping. The night life there is a big hit!
They even have a live cattle drive of longhorns daily!

We loved the stockyards! The cattle drive was absolutely amazing. We sat on a Longhorn, went to the rodeo, went to the John Wayne Museum, ate, shopped, drank and took in all the sites. Would definitely recommend 100%!

to have a good time with very good country music I recommend it for the family atmosphere and its stores are phenomenal, I loved the place, the best of the best

Very cool event to see, and lots of cute shopping stores. Food choices were great, fully friendly. They have train rides and alcohol

Interesting place with lots of shopping. We were there during the week so there was not much to do other than shop.

The Fort Worth Stockyards Walking Tour, led by the incredible guide Joel, was an enlightening and enjoyable experience. Joel's deep knowledge and passion for the history of Fort Worth truly brought the tour to life. His storytelling skills made the rich history of the stockyards, dating back to the 1800s, both accessible and engaging.
I gained a comprehensive understanding of how the stockyards were established and their evolution over time. The tour offered fascinating insights into the significant role that Texas, and specifically the Fort Worth area, played in supplying beef to America post-Civil War. This historical context provided a deeper appreciation for the area's cultural and economic importance.
Joel's expertise and enthusiasm made the tour not just educational but also incredibly entertaining. His ability to weave historical facts with interesting anecdotes kept us captivated throughout.
I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in the history of Fort Worth or looking to gain a deeper understanding of Texas's heritage. Whether you're a history buff or simply looking for a unique way to spend an afternoon, Joel's tour at the Fort Worth Stockyards is a must-do.

This was a brilliant place to visit, and it was really interesting to walk around
The long horns are beautiful and great to watch đ as visitors from the UK, I would really recommend this to my fellow travellers

We'd been to the Stockyards many years ago so thought we'd give it a go & see how it had developed. Has the feel of a seedy touristy area with shops designed to remove you of as much of your cash as possible. Sad to see the Longhorns being used for photo ops in the street. Food seemed mainly burger joints. Don't bother if you don't want beers - coffee sems to be in short supply for a quick stop. Might be better if you want an evening bar crawl.Parking will also cost your $15 plus tax - a cop out if you decide it's not worth staying. So although it has expanded & on the face of it a good afternoon out, overall it was dissapointing.

We enjoyed our afternoon at the Stockyards. For the kids, they enjoyed the cattle drive (which happens twice a day) and the many activities geared to interest them (i.e. petting zoo, horseback riding, etc.). As a family with friends, we enjoyed the restaurants, people-watching, and casual shopping with cocktails. We hope to visit again when we can spend more time there in the evening.

No Forth Worth visit is complete without exploring the StockYards
Ample parking and lots of shops, shows and places to eat !!!

This is a wonderful place to visit! You can dress western and be entertained by all kinds of Texas fun! Cattle drives and live entertainment everywhere!

Was recommended to visit this place and glad I decided to go. Great atmosphere, giving that old-town western vibe, lots of shopping, great food and lots of places to visit. Recommend Cavender's Stock Yards shop for a superb selections of boots, hats and other wear. :)

Fun place to visit, restaurants, shopping and best part seeing the longhorns brought out down the street. They heard them at 11:30 and 4:00 everyday. They really are impressive animals and it's amazing to see the walk with the longhorns. Really a sight to see.

My husband and I spent a great weekend at the Stockyards. We enjoyed a both nights of rodeo at the Cowtown Coliseum, shopping, and the John Wayne Experience. We loved it!

A perfect place to spend the day. Went with the whole family and got to check out all the stores, the longhorn bull parade, the train and plenty of local live music.

A must see if you are in the Fort Worth area. The adults and kids really enjoyed the cattle drive and this lady "rode" a longhorn (photo-op). Great historic district with shops, cowboys (and a cowgirl) and a gun fight. The kids loved the (expensive) candy shop and the petting zoo. I enjoyed getting my photo taken with a Sam Elliot look-alike cowboy. Fun Day!!!

Longhorn cattle parade the streets while the area takes you back in time. The parade happens twice a day and all you have to do it line the street and watch them walk right on by. The shops were varied prices from high-end to general store prices. The Stockyards had a variety of tourist type apparel and tchotchkes. Worth stopping to see the area an imagine what it was like years ago and the importance of the area stockyard. We spent around two hours before the morning "parade" and not all stores were open until 10.
We also ate Joe Garcia's for a highly recommended lunch nearby.

If you want to see a bit of authentic Texas culture then you want to make a stop at the stockyards. There are so many things to do here!! There are plenty of shops and restaurants to check out as well as a museum! I saw wagon rides going through town and people sitting on Longhorns for pictures. There is also a petting zoo for kids along with other cute activities for little ones. Twice a day they have a cattle drive through town. 11:30am and 4pm. It's free and those horns are so LONG!!! I guess it's why they are called Longhorns... on weekends There is also a free comedy show with wild west shootout. It was a highlight of our trip. There is plenty of parking but it will cost around $15 for the day. We weren't able to do everything in one day so we will be back.

Got to see the cattle drive.
Also saw the John Wayne museum which was awesome, probably one of the best museums weâve seen. Also close to Billy Bobâs,

This was so much fun. You can sit on a steer and have your picture taken, there are horse rides, restaurants, bars and shops as well as a museum. The longhorns walk down the street twice a day at 11:30 and 4:00. There is no bad spot to stand on the sidewalk. A "cowboy" gives a little history and narration before the cows go by. Worth a stop and close to downtown.

Stockyards Station is just a 15-minute drive north of Paulus Dental and a perfect spot to dive into Fort Worthâs rich history and cowboy culture. I had a great time exploring the shops, enjoying some local barbecue, and catching the iconic cattle drive. Itâs a fun, family-friendly destination that offers something for everyoneâdefinitely worth the short trip!

Going down to the real âcowboy/girlâ experience in this old town. Cows, horses, bars and shopping, all in one day. Nice environment and all together at one place.

The area is a nice place to visit as a tourist or day tripper. Museum, plenty of shopping and some nice bars and restaurants. Live cattle drive was pretty cool! Some cool photo opportunities including a live longhorn. Great way to spend the day if youâre in the city.

We came on a Saturday afternoon and the entire street was very busy. I don't know what I thought it would be but it turned out to be a lot of bars with some overpriced shopping. I was surprised to see so many people walking around with drinks in their hands that it seemed like one long pub crawl. If that is what you want, then that's great - however, it didn't seem like the greatest family atmosphere since we aren't into drinking. The best shopping is at the end of the street in the "mall" - it has many stores and is in the shade. Expect to pay more for the "cowboy" experience but you'll be able to find some Fort Worth souvenirs. The cattle drive is underwhelming and good luck getting to see the gunfight on a Saturday afternoon - there were too many people standing around to actually see the gunfight. If you want to see the rodeo, buy your tickets in advance. We wanted to see the rodeo but they were sold out on the night we were there.

Was simply amazing, loads of shops, great food and the best experiences with wonderful activities an absolute must when I. Fort Worth!

Sports trip with 24 kids.
What an incredible location! We spent hours soaking in the fun, surrounded by a variety of shops and restaurants. The highlight was definitely the bull showâ the kids absolutely loved it! It was worth every penny. Watching the bulls parade through the streets, with cowboys riding alongside, truly felt like stepping into the Wild West. And of course, no one could resist leaving without a cowboy hat!

It is a fun place to visit. There is plenty of paid parking around. It is street decorated as old west where you can walk around. There are many stores including hot sauces, beef jerky and old west art. There are plenty of restaurants serving TX BBQ food.

Very well done! One has so much to do in this Historic Districk. You have John Wayne experience, Rodeo, Cattle Drive, and many bars and restaurants. Many great Western Stores. You will enjoy!

This was our first visit there and it was great. It was awesome to see all the shops and restaurants in such close proximity. And Iâm talking good food. And to see the longhorns walking down the street ion the same Chisholm trail that they did so many years ago was great. If I didnât live so far away, I would go all the time.

It's not the same as a few years back, they are now so tourists minded and the shows are not the same anymore. Bars are expensive and many restaurants and shops are closing.
It's worth a visit for a few hours when you didn't visit it before but not to spend a whole day.

The Fort Worth Stockyards are loads of fun. The place really makes you feel like you're walking through a Western movie set. We came on a weekday which meant missing the rodeo, the shooting and the bull riding. However, they do walk the longhorns every 11:30AM and 4PM which we saw. Very cool to see the longhorns. The rest of the place does feel touristy but in a fun good way. Lots of souvenir stores, jerky stores, restaurants and bars. We ate at Riscky's Steakhouse. Parked a few blocks away from the middle of the Stockyards - plenty of parking lots around. Though, I think you can find plenty of street parking - lots of cars parked on the street but we don't know the local rules so we paid 5 bucks at a lot. We would come back for sure

This place is amazing! We enjoyed the cattle drive and everyone in the shops along the strip are sincerely nice! The rodeo is another great thing to do and the night life is awesome!

This was excellent but we had to go back as we didn't know how long it would take to see it all. THE COW drive was cool and fun Can actually sit on a real live longhorn only in TEXAS

We did an 11 day road trip through Oklahoma and Texas and this was BY FAR MY FAVORITE DAY AND PART of our trip!!! I felt like I had stepped back in time and was a cowgirl!! We spend most of the day here. Got here around 11 and left a little before 4. Got to see the heard. Walked the streets, took in some of the shops, ate at Riskey Steakhouse (seperate review), had my photo taken on a steer and just really enjoyed the day. If cowboys are in your roots.....this is the place for you.
We parked in the lot at the end of the street for $7 for the day.
Oh and if you're a fan of the Yellowstone tv series, parts of 1883 were filmed here!

We've been here twice and it's always a great visit.
First, you can walk all over the place with a cold beer in you hand. Yep.
Second, there are things for all ages to do - take a horse back ride through the street, take your pic on a longhorn steer, have a seat and sip at a wine bar, see a gun fight reenactment, see a cattle drive......., oh, and did I say you can walk around with a cold beer in your hand. There are many restaurants and souvenirs shops everywhere, so bring your appetite and wallet, both need to be big. I kid you not that the $5.00 beer is the best bargain in the area.
Before you go, read up on what is happening and when so you can plan ahead.

We drove all the way from NY to see this area and waco. Coming into the stockyard area is just real cool and it's got a whole country and cattle them going on. Plenty of shopping and good food all over the place! Shop under an old railway with brick walkways and wood store fronts, every day they have the steer walk down the streets and its the greatest and most exciting thing to watch! What a great area!

Lots of BBQ and steak places to try. If you are looking for western gear there are a number of places that have them here. A fun place.

We got there about 10:00 in the morning. It was one of my favorite places we visited in Texas. It is a rustic area. This is where they have the rodeos. All of the shops are very clean and well maintained. Lots of items that I had not seen before. They have some attractions we did not get to visit. We saw the stars on the walk of Cowboys. I saw Batt Masterson's star. They have a bull that you can sit on and have your picture made.
We bought several things, ate lunch and hung out there for a little while. The vibe is very Old Cowboy Texas. Loved this area.

On a road trip through Texas we made sure this was one of the stops. 2/3 of our kids are country loving kiddos, so they loved this. We caught the cattle drive twice - definitely a must see. We did the maze, which was a lot of fun. Time yourself if you want to be competitive - the time stamp they have available doesnât count correctly. And if you go after it rains, the maze does hold a lot of water. We saw the rodeo which was great. The shops were neat, though a lot were empty. Overall we are glad that we stopped for the day!

This is a must see if youâre in Fort Worth or anywhere in the vicinity. So much history. Well worth a day there. Lots to see, lots to learn. Well worth the trip.

Parked in the free lot. Watched the 4pm cattle drive while we sipped on drinks purchased from street vendor. Wandered through the stores and museum. Already had evening plans, but will definitely will return on next trip to sample food and entertainment.

I suppose all tourists must visit the Stockyards and we did. While the history is interesting, it now appears to be one huge tourist trap with stores selling a lot of the same âTexas â stuff from China. The impressive longhorn steers were very cool to see but I also felt they should be grazing on land and not entertaining humans for hours on the street. We went to one restaurant, Second Rodeo, which had a nice spot for live music but the worst nachos Iâve ever eaten. Iâm glad I went but see no need to return.

Neat old cowboy atmosphere and many interesting shops as well as cool food and drink options. It is easy walking and a good way to get a sense of what Ft. Worth must have been like in the old days.

The Fort Worth Stockyards was like the Times Square of Fort Worth. This area was totally packed, and it had many shops, restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues. I found street parking for free right away, but it could definitely be difficult to locate. Many visitors parked in lots for a fee. At 11:30 AM and at 4:00 PM, there was a free show for about five (5) minutes with a cattle drive. People lined up for the cattle drive at a much earlier time in order to get a good spot to witness this show. Many things in this area are expensive to buy, but this area was a major tourist destination. I felt safe in this area, and it was free to visit.

You can spend the entire day doing fun things. Visit the information center for map and hours. Watch the 10 min film and visit the carriages. Plenty for adults and kids.

This was our second time to watch the cattle drive in the Stockyards District. I love it. Yes, it's very short (about 10 min.) but you can walk around and look at the longhorns in their pen before they line up. I think this event is a big draw for Ft. Worth. There are lots of shops and restaurants close by. I like to see the historical buildings. Our only hassle this trip was the parking. We tried many times to make the parking charge via phone go through to no avail. We asked real people there and they couldn't help. We get back to our car and have a 'ticket' for not paying saying we owe not $10 but now $50. We are still trying to contact someone to get this resolved a week later! If you park in their designated lots, make sure you get your parking charge to go through before you leave your car to walk around!

The district is very interesting. We went on a Friday so some of the activities were not available. The cattle drive is over way to fast but interesting. The gentleman who âwarmsâ up the crowd, was very good and informative. It is a must! Typical souvenir shops and many fairly good restaurants and food trucks are available.

Loved seeing the cowboy history of Fort Worth. Enjoyed the restaurants, shops and the cattle. We had limited time for our visit and missed the cattle drive. Would recommend 3-4 hours to fully enjoy all of the sights.

Cool place! Wife and I had time to spend before flying home. I suggested we come to the stockyards to see the cattle drive. So we did, and glad we stopped by.
Unfamiliar to the area, nav system brought us to an area behind the arena. Parking was $5, so a no brainer. Not a bad walk to the area of the drive and we waited. After grabbing a couple of soft drinks nearby.
Watching the longhorns move up the road was neat. Magnificent animals for sure! If only idiots in the crown would listen to the workers keeping the road clear! Seriously, get out of the road!
We had enough time to mill around before heading to the airport. Wife had a hat made and we had a great lunch.
We would not hesitate to come back when there is more time to explore.

We visited on our family vacation in June. It was a little warm but tolerable. There are lots of neat shops and restaurants to visit. There was good live music playing the entire time we were there. If you want to go to the rodeo you should get your tickets in advance. Once the rodeo starts you have to have tickets for the rodeo to visit the Cowboy Hall of Fame.

amazing ! a must do, don't miss the arcades and the show at 11:30 a.m.
to park for free, you have to go to the top of the street at the pawnbroker's parking lot,
another world

A Western atmosphere. Itâs incredible, the inhabitants for the most part live dressed as in the days of the far west (Stentson, Santiagues, etc.).
We loved the atmosphere. It's truly unique, even in Texas...

We rode the train in so were dropped off in the heart of the stockyards. It was crowded, but people were fine. The sidewalks are brick so uneven. Lots of shops and restaurants. The cattle drive had about 20 bulls and was enjoyable. The gun fight was just OK - it lasted too long or needed more of a plot. There were two bulls one could sit on and have their picture taken - for a fee.

Beautifully decorated for the holidays. Tree lighted streets. Fun atmosphere, great live music! Nice to get out and walk around the bars /shops. Rodeo Friday/Saturday nights.

Great place for kids and adults! Free ride on saddled steer ($10 to get off :-) ). Watch gun fight and take action pic with characters. Horse rides and maze. Evening rodeo is a must. Boutiques for boots & hats to look the cowboy/cowgirl part. Lots of opportunities for adult partying in evening and wonderful restaurants with downtown ambiance--live music & dancing at several. Really neat place

Stroll through this historic town, take in the long horn parade. Lots of restaurants, shops, things for young and old.
Great afternoon.

I had never heard of the Fort Worth Stockyards before but I'm glad we visited......we were here to visit the John Wayne Museum, which was great!! After two hours there we walked and walked around the stockyards and even took in the daily stampede......quite a place!!

It is a very beautiful place, the parade of bulls with long antlers was entertaining, there was a very funny gunfighter show, there are many bars and restaurants where you can eat and many stores where you can buy cute souvenirs.

We had so much fun. Loved the cattle drive and of course the shopping was over the top. Billy Bobâs was fun and I got to sit on a longhorn! Canât get any more Texas than that!

Easy to travel from Dallas to Fort Worth stockyards for the day, caught the TRE and there is a frequent bus 15 that will drop you off at Front doors, such a fun place, it makes you slow down, relax and practice your Texan swagger. Loved the cattle drive and cowboys.

Really cool experience! Lots of cool shops around and the streets are super cute. Try to be there for one of the twice-a-day longhorn walks.

Suggestive historical setting of the "old West" of Texas, celebrated in many films, although now dedicated to the trade of typical souvenirs and restaurants, but still worth a visit. If you happen to be on a day when the Rodeo is scheduled to take place in the Cowtown Coliseum, the setting becomes even more characteristic and typical!

Once we had managed to park (really busy on a Saturday) we enjoyed walking round this area and seeing the sights and shops. Itâs very lively and a fun place to explore

Visited today. Enjoy the cow herds, petting zoo, local band, maze, horses, food trucks and shopping. Nice inexpensive entertainment. Very cowboy western theme.

If you haven't been to the stockyard in a while ... many new restaurants. A biscuit, place the brewery wasn't open yet, But I would like to go back and try it . Hope the beer is better-most Ft Worth breweries have terrible beer. You go for the fun with friends, not for the good tasting beer.

This was a fun, free experience. We caught the cattle drive at 4p. It was fun watching the drovers guide the Longhorns down Exchange street. We enjoyed the many shops, restaurants where we had a good meal, and there were a number of fun kid activities available like pictures on a longhorn, mechanical bull rides, petting zoo, etc.

this was an awesome experience I love the shops the music I hope to come back someday soon with my family

What a fun area to explore. Lots going on for families and the bar scene seemed great for the younger crowd. Fun to watch the cattle walk through town!

Not a big area but wow! The longhorns are just that! Twice a day they walk along the Main Street with the cowboys at their sides. Lots of restaurants and bars in the area so plenty of choice. Great experience

Beautiful place to visit, both day and night is worth it! with the Christmas lights it is even cuter!
There are shops, restaurants and many bars.
At 16hs they did a parade with the Longhorns, it was a different experience!

We took a fall break trip 4 days to Dallas/Ft Worth we where attending PBR in FT Worth was planning on 2 days in FT Worth and 2 in Dallas, but we found the Stockyards and fell in love stand the whole time in FT Worth so much to do. Stayed at the Hyatt Place loved every minute of it.

Amazing! Great western experience! Walk in the streets to know the district!
Eat in the Cattlemens! Good service, cold beer and steaks!

Took a quick on the trip the shops and the food were both great and also saw th longhorn run and went to Billy bobâs disappointed there was no one on stage but it was a Thursday

What a great place to spend a day or two. The shopping, restaurants, bars and live music is a really fun way to spend the day. It also seems that they are always adding new businesses. The cattle drive is also something not to be missed.

Total tourist trap that people from outside Texas might enjoy. The old brick streets are about the only authetic thing here.

I wanted to visit "The Old West". Fort Worth was one of the excellent places which brought this to life for me. Many original and restored building adorn Exchange Avenue. Activities include the twice-daily cattle drive and visit to the cattle pens which are free. For a small charge, there are tours of the area where much of the meat in the U.S. was processed. An extra special goodie: On the flight out, I watched 2 episodes of "1883" which was filmed in the Fort Worth Stockyards. The tour explained how the area was modified for the filming, bringing it back to its gritty 1883 ambience. Be sure to visit!

We spent 2 days in the Stockyard area and found it most enjoyable. We felt safe all the time. Not too crowded. Fun cattle drive. Great shopping and restaurants and bars. Easy to walk around including Billy Bobs. . Very clean. Lots to see and do and a great location to stay in Fort Worth.

What an experience. I felt like I was in a scene in a Western movie. No kidding.
Great place for all ages and do not miss the 11:30am or 4pm longhorn cattle drive.
Lots of cute stores to shop, (western wear), bars with live music, and very much a taste of the Old West. (Which I have never experienced) The historic district has a lot to do for all ages.
Be prepared to pay for parking and wear comfortable shoes as the roads and sidewalks are uneven as you can imagine.
One of the bars we were in the music was phenomenal. Lots of talent in Fort Worth.
Experience the fun!!!!!!!!

I had many people tell me to come check out the stockyards. Well it was well worth it. Many things to see and do. The cattle drive is cool way to âwitness historyâ. Many things for kids to see and do as well including pony rides and a maze. Shops and something for everyone.

We had a great day vistying the stockyards. This place was amazing. Plent of free parking that is just a short walk to the main strip. The longhorn cattle drive is a must see. There is great food and shops to visit. The stockyards Museum is another must stop as it gives you the history of the area in great detail.

If you like history, this place is awesome. We went on the walking tour with Baron. He was a wealth of information. Longhorn cattle drive was impressive as well. So much to see and do there. Shopping and restaurants galore. The steak smells will attract you even if you are not hungry! Highly recommend.

The Fort Worth Stockyards are a major part of Fort Worth-Texas-The West history. Take time to visit. Enjoy the food. Also watch the true cattle drive that occurs twice a day. The longhorns are amazing and the cowboys look as if they just rode off the range.

The Fort Worth Stockyards is a treat. If you like to eat as well as watching the Longhorns Cattle Drive held twice a day, then schedule at least 6 hours. Free parking is minimal, but there a number of pay spaces scattered about. The Longhorn Cattle are marched down the street to a resting spot and later in the day they are marched back to their pen. The cattle are majestic. The town itself has numerous places to shop and pretty much all of the food is good. If there and craving some Texas BBQ, then stop in at Risckyâs BBQ. If you miss that one there is another in downtown Fort Worth. Also while here if you stop by the Cowboy museum, you might see Roy Rogersâ horse Trigger and dog, Bullet. In the same area you can find Billy Bobâs. The negative is you are charged just to look around.

Wow - what a great place to visit, even in very very high temperatures! Luckily the cow parade had just restarted, it being a little cooler for the magnificent cows - their horns really are spectacular!! There are plenty of places to have a look around, eateries and shops = plenty to do and a real feel for the old west.

Since this is probably the reason you decided to visit Fort Worth, it rightly is a Fort Worth must do, but was it worth it? Most definitely the answer is yes. It was crowded on Black Friday, the day of our visit, but we were able to park for only $5 near Billy Bob's Honky Tonk and within easy walking distance. You could (and should) take advantage of the unique stores to shop, but whatever you do, don't miss the cattle drive at 4pm when you will be able to get within a few feet of a Texas Longhorn. And then afterwards, you can visit a number of good restaurants to eat one! Plan to spend the better part of a day in this fun national historic area.

What a great day, Forth worth is steeped in History & Authenticity. We saw the cattle drive thorugh the main street and then it was off to watch a gun show all for not cost.
There is so much to do and kts well wortg trip if you in Dallas.
Some fantastic bars and restaurants with fun friendly people.

Enjoyed an afternoon shopping, eating, listening to live music, mazes, people watching, and dinner at a saloon. Wear your boots, hat, and big belt buckle and enjoy the scene!!

My husband, 13 year old son, and I all had a great time at the Stockyards. My husband was thrilled to get his picture on a longhorn steer. My son loved it all. I have always wanted to visit here and especially Billy Bob's (which is another review), and it did not disappoint. Of course it was touristy, but also a nice historic area. We attended the Saturday night rodeo, which we all loved. That should be on the top of your list along with the cattle drive. Lots of restaurants, bars, and shops. Hope I get to visit again someday.

Visited when in Ft Worth. Enjoyed all the shops and restaurants. Rode the train and saw the cattle drive and the gun fight. The gunfight is funny but if you miss it do not feel bad, Not a must to see. Same with the cattle drive. There is tons of stores covering several blocks. Most are western type clothing and leather goods. There is some displays in some of the historic buildings. The train ride was ok but again not a must do. Takes you down a few miles then you come back to the station. Takes about 45 minutes. They do a little train robbery stunt for the kids mainly and they do offer refreshments for a fee. Wear comfortable shoes as you will be walking a lot. Parking is available on streets around the area and in parking lots for 10:00

We went to the Fort Worth Stockyards on April 30,2021, around 10 a.m. Initially we went primarily for the cattle drive through the main street of the Stockyards, which occurs twice a day, and ended up staying until 10 p.m. There are so many things to do that it is easy to spend the entire day, especially on a Friday or weekend. In addition to the cattle drive, there are all kinds of cowboy experiences, western and cowboy museums, stores, restaurants, honky tonks, and even a rodeo. Some of our favorites were the Stockyard Museum for interesting artifacts and stories by the docents, Risckyâs Steakhouse for great steaks, MB Mercantile Supply for very nice gifts, the Rodeo gift shop for great t-shirts, the Rodeo for loads of fun and excitements, and Billy Bobâs for honky tonkân and drinks. Adults and children can go to the corral and see the longhorns and watch the cowboys, maybe even talk to them. There is a petting zoo and other things for kids. It was raining lightly most of the day that we went, but this didnât deter the people. It can get a bit crowded. I ride a mobility scooter and even though there were repairs going on with the sidewalks, I could still get around fairly easily. The cobble stone streets did make for a bumpy ride. Most places were handicapped accessible and welcomed me on my scooter. All the stores required masks. Most people complied. Outside, however, it was about 50/50 with mask and non-mask wearers. Billy Bobâs brags of being the worldâs largest honky tonk. It probably is. We went early in the afternoon and there were very few people in there. There is a small cover charge to get in. In the evenings when there is a performer, they charge tickets for the performance. There was a band playing while we were there. Our favorite thing was the rodeo, which is held year-round, every Friday and Saturday night. It starts at 7:30 and usually runs about 2 hours. Tickets start at $15 but there are all kinds of specials and coupons. It appears that the participants at this rodeo are people trying to get experience and recognition, not world champions. Nonetheless, it was a lot of fun. I highly recommend it. Parking in lots around the perimeter of the area only charge $7 for the full day. Parking lots in the middle of the area are very expensive. I highly recommend going here.

Very nice place that recreates the American West, they do a longhorn cattle walk twice a day at 11 a.m. and at 4 p.m. They have shops, restaurants, and there are rodeo shows.

Loved this area even more than Sundance square. Lots of shops and bars and places to eat. Really busy at night and Iâm sure awesome during the day. If you are near this is a great area.

If you want a stereotypical western or Texan experience - this is the place. I was there on a Saturday and it was incredibly crowded. Caught the rodeo at Cowtown Coliseum as well. Saw the cattle run which lasts all of a minute. It was nice to see the cattle but the crowd was too much. Lots of high end shops and some decent restaurants.

There is so much to experience here. Shopping, places to eat, museums and entertainment!
It's easy to get to, plenty of parking and a very friendly atmosphere!
Be prepared to do a fair amount of walking it's a pretty big area AND there is so much to see!

It felt like going back in time as you ride around the city area, near downtown. I enjoyed the plenty statues and the architecture.

You can definitely see so much here and feel the cowboy vibes. I canât think of anything new that others have probably already written. The cattle that walk down the brick road is awesome (11:30am & 4pm). Parking can be tricky even with all the parking lots around. Great food and lots of places to shop and experience.

Had been wanting to visit the Fort Worth Stockyards for quite some time. If you enjoy anything related to the Old West you will love it. Cowboys on horses riding through an old west town on a cattle drive with Longhorns. Lots of good eats, sites and shops. Have you photo made on an actual Steer. They have certain events on certain days like wild west shootouts and such. The cattle drive is everyday twice a day. This place is really cool.

Awesome experience. Every thing from Cowtown Colosseum Rodeo to old school train rides and mechanical bull rides this was an amazing place to visit and experience.

Very cute place to visit. Got a real feel for Texas here. Definitely recommend. Regret not planning longing to do the train ride. Time just wasnât in our side this trip.

Really fun spot to explore for an afternoon. Lots of shops, restaurants and bars. It has a nice sense of history.

Went here for the morning cattle drive and ended up spending a few hours seeing it all. Such a pleasant town with a slow pace. Will definitely visit again for the evening rodeo they have on Fridays and Saturdays - just didn't line up for this trip :(.

Overall, one of the best things we did on our recent trip to Texas. Get here early, if coming on a weekend, not a lot of street parking and the lots fill up quickly. We paid $15 for all day at a lot right on the main street toward the end. Take time to walk all up and down the street and see all the different shops, restaurants and saloons. Also see the cattle drive if you can, they run it twice a day in the morning and in the afternoon. Catch the gun fight they do right inside the closed area off the street, right after the morning cattle drive. This is a really neat thing to do if visiting from out of town. Overall a very enjoyable experience.

Great venue to learn a little about the history of the stockyards, as the cattle made their way from the various trials - with the largest being the Chisholm Trail. Between 1866 and 1890 more than four million cattle ran through this city, giving it the nickname "Cowtown". The streets are still cobble stone, there are shops, restaurants, and a stage coach you can ride around the block in. Additionally there is a daily train in and out. Twice a day you can experience a mini cattle drive with Texas longhorn cattle - who's horns can span more than 8 feet across. Many western sitcoms and movies have been filmed here. You can pop a street over and grab a drink at the Hotel Drover.

Loved the cattle drive, we actually came 2x! It is different each time, with different cowboy's, etc. Announcements are good and explains what is going on. Make sure you get there a little early to get a spot and to hear the explanation of what will happen. The free gun fight afterward is a little hookie, but still fun. We then went to eat. So many great restaurants right there with every proce point from fast food to steak house.

Rodeo, livestock, shops, bars, restaurants - something for everyone.
Lots of high end hotels restaurants and bars as well as tourist type stores, etc. If youâre trying to be fancy this place is for you and if youâre trying to be country âŠ. Also for you. Tourist - you too.
Didnât have but a couple hours here but will visit again with more of a plan!

One of my main wishes on this trip from Ohio was to see the Trail Drive at the Ft Worth Stock yards.. It did not disappoint me.. I am older and can't walk far. There are plenty of benches along the route and lots of shops. There was a free Show there in the shade.. a shoot out .. All the kids.. (old and young) enjoyed it.. Beware.. the guns are very loud. Plenty of places to buy souveniers, eat and take photos.. We loved the lead longhorn that had horns 10 feet from tip to tip.. one more item checked off my bucket list..

Fantastically preserved district with many unique boutiques honouring the cowboy heritage from designer Stetsons and western wear to traditional tourist gifts. The longhorn cattle parade with cowboys was great, we visited during the REd Steagall Cowboy festival, the parade of 20 plus original chuck wagons was fantastic. Cowboy Coliseum rodeo a must see visit.

This was the best place I visited on my trip to Dallas/Fort Worth. The Longhorns walking the street is fantastic! We took the little train around for a tour and my grandson loved it. Great shopping and terrific food. It was a great atmosphere!

The Stockyards has a lot going for it and so much from from place to eat to going to the Rodeo on Fri or Sat night every weekend of the year. Also do not miss the Longhorn cattle drive so much fun to see.

The wife is a native Texan and wanted to see the Stockyards as a bucket list item. Went after spring break to avoid the crowds and temp of the summer. Parking was plentiful and easy. Not too busy around the 'Yards. Booked a walking tour and we were the only two attending. Baron was the tour guide and he was excellent, would highly recommend the tour. Museum was worthwhile and only $2/person.

This is probably a marmite kind of town. Some folks will hate that it has all been staged just for the tourists and very fake, whilst others (like me) will adore the character and fun time of the place and let themselves be absorbed back to cowbody country for the day.
I particularly loved the longhorn balloons and wished I was a child again and could buy myself a pair. I had to make do instead with being able to sit on one of the longhorn cows for a great fun photo. I also got myself hooked up with the bad boys and put on a Wanted poster. Again a good laugh and photo opp.
There is an absoute plethora of shops. I did the small museum too but wasn't too much of interest there (other than the gift shop).
I also made sure I got a good spot on the corner for the Longhorn Parade - which is more of a thrill than you think. It was certainly much better than the so called parade of the Peabody Ducks in Memphis, and you can go to the pens and see all the cows beforehand.
All in all, a really great day out. I just wished I'd had even more time here.

My favorite place ever! I've traveled a lot and tried to find another place like the Stockyards and I've not found any place with a better atmosphere great restaurants, and things to do. Love it!

So fun and a must visit ! Real cattle drive to the market! Many restaurant and bar options for a fun day. Loved Second Rodeo Brewing and visiting The Genera Store and 6666 store. Busy - make reservations if you know there is a restaurant you want to visit.

Had a great time at the stockyard. Plenty of shops and food. Petty zoo for the young ones. Had horseback rides also could get a pic on a longhorn steer. Got to see Longhorns go down the street like an old western herd. They had a gunfight show from the Wild West but with some humor they were great. If you go to or around Fort Worth you need to do this.

We stayed at the SpringHill Suites and were able to walk to the Stockyards every day. So much to see and do! Take in the Thurs night PBR bull riding or the Fri or Sat night rodeo while there! The cattle drive through the street was interesting. Loved the John Wayne Experience! We had many great meals and did a lot of shopping. Day and night are totally different energies so experience both. Fun trip and we will be back!!

This was a great place to visit. Felt quite authentic Texas, plenty of bars, clothes shops, the cattle drive and rodeo. Simply my favourite place in Texas!!

We stayed here for a long weekend in Dallas, and wanted a fun new place to check out. And we achieved that! We had a great dinner, went to Billy Bob's to watch REO Speedwagon (two thumbs up), stayed at the Stockyards Hotel, and then hung out walking around, shopping, have a drink or two, and enjoying the day. Lots of sight seeing, restaurants & bars, shops, and historical landmarks. Definitely worth a day to check out everything it has to offer, and do recommend you stay the night and go to Billy Bob's that evening.

I love historical main streets. There were tons of shops. Thereâs a few kid friendly things (petting zoo, maze, mechanical bull riding. A huge variety of foods to eat. You Can walk to so much.

It was very hot. Lots of stores and restaurants, more expensive than usual, but not bad. Stores and restaurants are more expensive than usual. Nice attraction.

My husband and I visited yesterday and while it is very touristy the main reason we had a good time was we took the tour which only cost $15 each. Our tour guide Doug was awesome and knew so much about Fort Worth and the history of the stock yards. His love of his city was evident. Take the tour!!

Was there on business but drove down to see the longhorns. Had a great time. Would have loved to have more time to spend and will absolutely go back.

Exceeded all expectations, what a fun historic district. There's only one main street and about a block in either direction but there is so much to do for everyone in the family. We enjoyed the cattle drive. Even with large crowds on eclipse weekend, there was plenty of room to see the bulls and cows walk down the street. The massive horns were within reach of the first row of visitors. If you miss the cattle drive, you can see the herd in their paddock. There is horseriding (and riding a cow for a picture), a maze, a stage coach and wagon, a mechanical bull and many stores and restaurants. There is also a rodeo arena, and a couple of Western themed museums. Very family friendly. There is also a functioning historic train station, and the train pulls right into the middle of what looks like a shopping mall. The vibe was more adult in the evening, with a number of bars and honkytonks.
While the area felt safe, I was kind of surprised that main street is still a street for vehicle traffic. Especially when it's crowded, making the area a walking zone might be a good idea. There is plenty of parking, but it was all paid parking when we visited.

Wasn't sure what to expect, but was surprised at all the activity including live music, rodeo, food and drink, authentic food and much more. I'm not a whole hearted country/western fan, but still found the historic stockyard district to be entertaining and worth the trip. If you're looking for western gifts and gear, the area is home to many stores. Allow at least 3 hours. Maybe ride the mechanical bull, sit upon a live longhorn or enjoy people watching.

We had a fun day here despite it being really cold. Yes, it is very touristy but at least it is preserving the history of the place. So glad we visited.

Iâm not a big fan of tourist trinket shops so I didnât rate the Stockyards very highly. Those are on the main street. If youâre going to see cows and cowboys off the Main Street thatâs another story. I can see how that would be great to do with Kiddos. Be sure and check a current schedule for the livestock parade.

This was our first time! Weather was goodâânot too hot or cold. It did warm up in the afternoon Candy store cool, lots of shopping, food, and drink options! Seemed kid driven! Neat experience all around!

Stroll, shop, be amazed! You should definitely be there for the Longhorn trip around 11 a.m. Not only are the animals worth seeing, but the information over the loudspeakers is also worth the expensive parking. Then through the narrow alleys or streets. Clothing, souvenirs or western riding outfitters in a beautiful setting. I would make the detour again.

This is a must see while in Fort Worth area.We were very fortunate to have a great walking guide to visit this area.He explained everything and was very open to our questions. We went here on our 24 day deep south bus tour with Nagel Tours. They have a real cattle drive every day down the streets .It has real longhorn cattle and cowboys on horse back. After the cattle drive they have a shoot em out with the cowboys.I would go again in a heartbeat.

This is our favorite vacation spot. We love staying at the Hyatt which is in the middle of all of the attractions. Thereâs a lot to do plus dining and shopping is all within walking distance. We Highly recommend making a trip here, itâs fun and relaxation the same time.

Here you have everything your heart desires. Lots and great shops to stroll around. Historical and great impressions as it really was in the West. There are parking spaces and you can walk through the streets for hours. The shows are also great.

We wanted to see the John Wayne Museum which we did then had some time for strolling around the area. Full of western history, saloons. We spent about an hour just looking at the area the of course we had to have a drink đ„ in one of the saloons.

Loved all the live music, the country feel and surrounding atmosphere of all the people just having a great time. Great breweries and BBQ as well as re-enactments of historical events that once took place in the Wild West. Great vibes here.

This was a little blast from the past. The scenery, bulls, cowboys and cowgirls, horsesâŠ. It was all pretty fun! The daily cattle drive was fun! Some of the little shops were fun! The rodeo at the Cowtown Colosseum was horrible! Parking was ridiculous. But we had fun!

Wonderful unique place to go for listening to live music, drinking and dancing or with families or for a meal. Thereâs something for everyone
We loved the shops and the constant parade of fancy cars was brilliant
We had a fabulous time
We felt very safe

Was really fun watching the longhorns walking the street. The restaurants in the area are very good. Shops are too overpriced.

Amazing place. It's like trying your hand at a Clint Eastwood western. If you close your eyes it seems to have the same breeze experienced by gold miners in the far west!

Authentic western Town. Felt like you were in the old west except for the cars coming down the road to park. $15 to self park seemed a little steep for a short visit but worth making a day out of it. Long horn cattle behind the stockyard museum. Many western wear shops.

Stockyards, with its cowboy ambience, a plethora of shopping, entertainment & dining options, a museum and the railroad station offers you the authentic Texas experience.

Went to the PBR Showcase on Thursday evening. Tickets were priced at $185. BUT the add on fees and taxes cost us $317!! What? That is very deceptive. Shameful to gouge the public that way. The authorities should be notified. Those add-ons were over 71% of the posted ticket prices. Bad PR for the stockyards. Also, the PBR Showcase needed some more entertaining showmanship to keep the kids involved. It was just an overdose of bullriding with no fun acts in between. Someone needs to enhance this event with some showmanship.

Seeing the twice-daily cattle drive at the Fort Worth Stockyards was high on my list during my week in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The drive itself was neat and made for a great photo opportunity, but be prepared for a calm, leisurely stroll rather than a high-energy spectacle.
As for the rest of the Stockyards, it felt heavily commercialized. Many national brands have moved in, so it lacked the local character Iâd hoped for. The overall vibe reminded me more of Myrtle Beach or Gatlinburg. I visited on a Tuesday and had no wait at any of the restaurants or bars.

Beautiful historic location. You can walk everywhere. The Stockyards is open container. Great bonus we didn't know about until we arrived.

This made the trip for me bad miss if you are in the area and don't take the chance to see it. Gave a flavour of the old West. Longhorn cattle were on hand for photos. Lots of fantastic stores, statues, old train, saloons and restaurants, great vibe really enjoyed it. Even biker gang more authentic than Samcro.

Stopped by for a quick morning visit for my rodeo loving 6 year old! Only had 2 1/2 hours could have spent the day. So much to see and explore. We hit the shops in the old rail depot, visited the longhorn pasture, watched the cattle drive and took in the Stockyard Musuem (well worth the $2 admission) So much to see and do and other than shopping it's practically free so it's great for those on a budget

So cool! Back in the Wild West! Also best saloons in the country! From authentic souvenirs to cowboy and rodeo shows you will not be disappointed

We had a wonderful experience. Even in the rain found lots of interesting history and shops along with the running of the bulls and gun fight. The brisket for supper and the rodeo were definitely a must see and do.

We found a parking space directly outside of the Cowtown Coliseum, which meant a quick getaway after the rodeo. The parking lot fee can be paid online via cellphone. We walked around for about an hour checking out the scenery and dipping in and out of shops before dinner. It's definitely worth a visit here to experience the western ambiance and feel.

There is lots to see and do! Stockyard Station has lots of shops and a shootout on weekends twice daily. The cattle drive is twice everyday at 11:30 and 4:00. For various fees you can ride a mechanical bull, take a stagecoach ride, pony rides, do a cattle pen maze and take a walking history tour. There are restaurants and several museums. The Grapevine train is not running until February 2022.

Visiting the Dallas area for the first time, and wanted to see some âtourist spotsâ with limited time. Driver recommended the Fort Worth Stockyards. Pretty awesome place!
The Cattle Drive happens twice per day, is absolutely free, and for me was really unique to see those huge Longhorns 3 feet away walking up the main cobblestone street.
Pop up food and (alcoholic) beverages on the street, and it was OK to walk around with a drink. Lots of families from all nationalities. Lots of history. An indoor rodeo that was open to walk around that recently hosted a National Championship. Classic, old Texas wood-fired BBQ. Public restrooms.
Some of the nicest people Iâve ever met. Clean, safe area. Super fun and worth a visit.

The cattle drive is pretty cool but very short. I recommend getting there about 30ish minutes early if you're going on a weekend as the route can get crowded. That said there are outdoor bars all around so its not a hardship to relax and wait for the Longhorns to stroll by.
The shopping area is neat, but nothing to necessarily write home about. I recommend walking a few blocks out of the main district to eat and shop. You'll have fewer crowds and better prices.

Absolutely a great place to spend a good chunk of a day simply walking up and down the streets, checking out the shops and eating a bit of food. A lot to do in this small area of Fort Worth, and totally worth your time.

It is a must visit if you are in Texas. The cowboy town. Thereâs cattle parade twice a day and only 5min walk so donât miss the timing - 11.30am and 4pm daily.
Must also take the chance to watch bullfighting show. Whereâs else can you see live bullfighting?

We spend the afternoon at The Stockyards on a Thursday. There were quite a few people but the area was not crowded. We were fortunate to find on-street parking nearby so we didn't have to pay for a lot.
We visited the Stockyards Museum, browsed some very interesting shops, watched the cattle drive, and had dinner at Cattleman's Steakhouse. When we planned, we didn't realize that there was a PBR event that evening. We were able to get tickets and enjoyed the event.
While it's obvious that The Stockyards is targeted to tourists (like us), we enjoyed the area and would return.

Loved seeing the longhorn herd being driven down the road on the old Chism trail like in the 19th century. Great place to see history, shop and eat. Be ready to do a lot of walking and take a lot of pictures.

Realize first, you are a tourist. It;s great fun, at 11:30and 4 a herd of steers is driven down the street by real cowboys who are friendly and pose for pictures. There are shootouts in the area and fun had by all. Don't miss the rodeo on Friday and Saturday nights.

We spent a good part of the day here checking out all of the different vendors, restaurants and taking in the history of Fort Worth. Make sure you are there for the cattle drive at 11 AM and 4 PM and take your time looking at everything. Itâs definitely a tourist trap, but itâs a very fun tourist trap at the end of the day and itâs a real nice taste of the âcowboy Texasâ.
There are plenty of places to eat, plenty places to grab a drink (container laws exist here so you can walk around and enjoy your drink) and make sure you pick up some fun touristy gifts for yourself, friends or family.

If you want to experience the out of the ordinary, you must see this attraction when in the Dallas area.
Specially with young children.
A dozen longhorn bulls a few feet from you.
Loved it.

Itâs like walking into a set of a western movie. Very interesting to see people on horses with cowboy boots on. Glad we caught the walking of longhorn bulls. They are massive!

Visited on Sunday afternoon and evening. Very good experience. Usual gift shops and eateries. Lots of saloon style bars with live, mostly country music. Cattle drive if the traditional long horn cattle through the streets by the cowboys twice a day

Of course I wanted to see the longhorn cattle drive! I know a bit cheesy but so fun! We were there the evening before and had to cancel due to tornado sirens going off in the area. Safety first! I did recognize that area business were so generous in offering their retail space for spectators to take shelter. Started to hail and we took shelter in one of the retail stores. Went back the next morning to see the drive and take in all the sites and ambience of the stockyards. We are cattle ranchers so it was fun to see the old pens and all the old concrete corners and gate hinges. We took in the gunfights and all the fun.

Many times in TX...first time in fort worth. Fabusee leddyslous!!! Just go and enjoy. See leddys boots and Rio and the Drover!

We decided to visit Forth Worth after a nice tour at Dallas. Forth Worth is a nice old city, rich tradition & modern amenities.
Longhorns March was wonderful, it was much awaited moment at 4 pm.

Twice a day they walk the cows down the street. In the morning and at 4pm. Be there at 4pm sharp or you will miss them. They don't wait for stragglers.
OK, they are NOT cows, but Texas Longhorns! A lot cooler than a moo-cow. But it 's still fun to call them cows.

We spent half the day and enjoyed the atmosphere of a little Texas culture and history. We enjoyed the shopping, maze, and seeing the longhorns. I would definitely recommend if you are in the Fort Worth area.

Plenty of shops and restaurants. And history all over the place. The cattle drive goes twice a day and itâs a show stopper.?

Once the gateway to the Wild West, Fort Worth, also known as Cowtown due to its importance in the cattle drive of the time, embodies exactly that today, the Wild West. Of course, it is very touristy with great souvenir shops, daily sheriff duel shows, the longhorn drive at 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and various photo opportunities. But if you look more closely, you will also find real history here, such as one of the oldest saloons in front of which the last gunfight in Fort Worth took place. There is something to discover on every corner, live music everywhere, saloons/bars, Tex-Mex restaurants, interesting shops and if you want you can even visit a rodeo. This place is an absolute must if you are in the area.

Shopping, restaurants, walking, drinks, and of course watching the Longhorns take their daily walk down the street are many of the things to do here.
I came here with my brother and friends the 1st day and returned with my teenage son the 2nd time⊠each time was interesting and fun!
A must see and explore for all ages!

We went walk and shop. I absolutely loved it. Such a unique place and a nice clean area. Looking forward to returning. Three generations went and all enjoyed.

Fun place. Pleasant with some nice activities. Compact area so easy to get around. We went to bull riding competition fun event

Tons of fun shops and eats there! Definitely a fun place to spend some time. They even walk the steers through every few hours

It's three blocks of nothing. Things are over prices, the food isn't that good. People that work there are rude and usually high or drunk.

Lots of restaurants, bars, shopping, and fun for all ages. You can have fun and learn some history. Also you can watch a cattle drive, or get a photo on a longhorn.

Visited some great shops, had some delicious BBQ, experienced Texas wine and watched the longhorns! As must do when in Fort Worth!

A definite MUST VISIT if you're in Forth Worth.
This Historic tourist attraction has streets filled with something for everyone.
Shopping: Tons of Texas specialty stores throughout. Everything from souvenir gifts to high end Western wear. If you're looking to purchase your first cowboy hat, this is definitely the place to be. The options are endless.
Eats: Burgers, BBQ, steaks, desserts, breweries, etc are all over lined up through the streets. I'd definitely look up your options before visiting otherwise it's easy to wander aimlessly before deciding where to sit down and eat. lol
Attractions: Stage Coach Rides, horse carriage rides, bull photo opportunities, Cowboy Hall of Fame, John Wayne Experience, Mechanical Bulls, etc Plenty to do and see. Tons of IG Pic opportunities are here at the Stockyards.
Plant to send a couple hours just browsing through all the cool Texan stuff here. And another hour if you're going to sit down and grab a bite like we did. If back in Fort Worth, I'd definitely swing by again if the schedule allowed it. Enjoy

For nearly 3 years, we tried to make it to the stockyards. After multiple canceled trips, we finally visited in mid November 2023.
Whether you enjoy western activities, shows, drinking, or just exploring, youâll find something at the Stockyards. We enjoyed the rodeo, bull fighting, mechanical bull riding, gun show, shopping, and more.
The area is also full of great restaurants such as Risckys BBQ, Biscuit Bar, H3 Ranch, and more.
While we had a lovely time, most of the activities here (besides the rodeo and bull fighting) are one and done type of things. We wonât make it a point to visit here again just for the stockyards but if in the area, would of course stop by.

Only spent a few hours here but could easily spent all day and then some. Numerous shops, restaurants, bars, and a brewery all amidst some amazing history. Had no idea what to expect when my wife suggested we go here with family. Glad we did and will return for a show at Billy Bobâs Texas!

Due to covid we postponed our trip to Texas and cancelled our hotel in Dallas. That was the best thing to happen to this belated vacation. After more research we opted to stay in the old timey action of the Stockyards.
We arrived to check into the Hyatt Place Fort Worth just before the must-see, twice daily cattle drive down Exchange Ave. We caught the 4 p.m drive over our four days there. We enjoyed the many restaurants, shops and Avoca Coffee Roasters. The weekends seem to bring more folks of all ages out. There is a positive, happy vibe about these dozen or so blocks of history.

Really neat to watch the cattle drive down the street. Many side shops and eateries to stop at. Main drive has restaurants and shops to check out. Some shops are a little pricy ( who knew a cowboy hat could run $2000 +) Well worth the stop make sure to get some barbecue !

We went to Stockyards and had a great time. Cattle drives are every day at 11:30 and 4. We went to 11:30 one, get there no later than 11 to have time to park and get to a spot. We walked around that area which was fun. We ate lunch at 97 West which is restaurant at the Drover Hotel. It was delicious and the hotel is a must see! Sit on the back patio!

This is what Texas is in the dreams of Europeans.
Very nice experience, we had a great time at the Rodeo, Billy Bobs, the train ride in vintage train and the gunfightershow.

We only stayed less than 24 hours but glad we made the trip. In late June the cattle drive was only happening at 11:30am because it was too hot at 4pm. We parked in public parking that was very large and allowed overnight parking. You needed a cell phone to use it since it required scanning a QR code and your license plate number.
We saw the long horn, enjoyed live music outdoors (Love Shack), had a big steak dinner (Cattlemanâs), shopped for souvenirs, saw a big train (which you can ride) and watched the herd parade down the charming brick road. If you want to, you can enjoy a beer while walking around the shops too. It was a nice experience.

We loved the Stock Yards! From the cattle drive, to having the opportunity to sit on a Longhorn, to the maze, and everything else there, we had a blast!
Would highly recommend visiting the Stockyards if you can - something for all ages (our group consisted of 7 - 66)

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the stockyards area of Fort Worth. I highly recommend seeing the cattle drive. There are tons of shops and restaurants. The people are so friendly and helpful too. It is worth the time to visit this historic place.

A interesting place full of history, make sure you book in advance to see the rodeo an experience not to be missed.
Get there early as it gets busy and car parking can be a problem. Also car parking charge is only via an app $10.
The cattle run is twice a day and the best photo opportunity is from the car park by the pen where they keep the Longhorns, the main street side walk gets crowded quickly.
They also have a fun shoot out by actors after the cattle run worth watching.
Plenty of food and gift shops as you would expect.
Don't bother with the very over rated and over priced John Wayne museum.

I went for a field trip. It was expensive. It was a SHAM, they are taking your money. One tour guide was sooooooo BORING. Other was ironically fun. Rambling on about boring texas history. Never coming back. Only good thing was the maze. But even that was bad. Gave us splinters. Petting zoo $5, A KID. Taking your money. NEVER EVER COME HERE, UNLESS YOU HAVE TO. These people are KNEE DEEP IN SCULDUGGERY. ANTS, SPIDERS EVERYWHERE. MY WIFE AND I HAVE MOSQUITO BITES AND BRUISES ALL OVER. THIS PLACE SHOULD SHUT DOWN, FOR THE LOVE OF TEXAS.

Lots of cool shops, restaurants, bars. We spent most of the day checking out the shops, had a beer in small dive bar, and lunch at a bbq place. Good times.

This place is so much fun and full of history. Lots of bars and restaurants. Also stores from cheap to very upscale. We enjoyed the cattle drive down the main street and a wonderful lunch at Risckyâs. Parking is very pricey as usual in Texas

There are tons of things to see and do in the Stockyards. We saw an actual cattle drive - thry came down the street from the railroad station to the Livestock Exchange. There was a rodeo going on, there was live music outside on the street, a reenactment of a gunfight. Tons of shopping and restaurants. This area has a really nice vibe and, even though there were lots of people there, we felt entirely safe. My only regret is that we scheduled only one day for here and not more. We will definitely be back.

Experiencing the Fort Worth Stockyards is one of the highlights of a visit to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Dating back to the 1880s, the Union Stockyards which later became the Fort Worth Stockyards became one of the largest stockyards in the country. The Armour and Co and Swift and Co meat packing companies built huge meat packing plants adjacent to the stockyards in 1902. Those have long closed but today, the Fort Worth Stockyards is more of a shopping, dining, and entertainment venue. However, you can still visit cattle pens to see the longhorns up close and watch the famous cattle drive that takes place twice daily on Exchange Ave at 1130am and 4pm. Tours of the historic stockyard are offered throughout the day which I found interesting as I learned much about the history of the place. There are many other things to do here including the Stockyards Museum, the John Wayne Museum, horse drawn wagon rides, a corny old west gunfight show, and live rodeos in the Cowtown Coliseum. There is also 46 bars and restaurants and 54 shops available. The White Elephant Saloon is a unique drinking establishment. It is a recreated Old West Saloon filled with western and cowboy memorabilia and offering live music throughout the day and night.

Where else could you see Longhorn Steer walking down the street with real cowboys? Lots of shops for souvenirs in the market along with several options of restaurants. The pretzel food truck makes tasty pretzels if you just want a snack.

My family arrived here at three o'clock for the 4 o'clock cattle drive, and it took us almost 40 minutes to find a parking space. Once we did, everything went well. The cattle drive didn't last very long, but it was worth going to. There were plenty of shops and restaurants spreaded about to attend. We also attended the Rodeo, which was pretty good as well.

This is a great area to visit whilst in Fort Worth where you can learn about the history of the area as well as admire all of the work and effort gone in to revitalising the Stockyards into what it is today.
Loved the cattle drive although it underwhelmed our 19 yo son who was expecting a lot more hooves but the longhorns were impressive beasts to behold.
Loads of food outlets that should cover just about every taste but bring your appetites as portions are generous as is the hospitality.
If I had one criticism is that some of the boutique stores are eye wateringly expensive but at the same time you will find gift shops that are more reasonably priced as well.
Youâll definitely need a day and a half to two days if you want to get the full experience (I would say).
Evenings at the bars where various singers and entertainment are also a daily occurrence so day can roll into night quite easily.
Everyone is friendly and Iâm sure youâll have a great time too

Arrived in time for the afternoon cattle drive and it is a must see! Very touristy area - as to be expected - but still a fun atmosphere. Lots of shopping. We really enjoyed going to the stockyards themselves after the cattle drive and watching the cattle. Even just strolling the streets and people watching was great.

This place is so fun! Itâs a larger area than I expected. Great restaurant choices, great shops. A mix of upper scale shops and cute small town shops. The area has a western feel (as expected). There is music playing throughout town, aand anlso live music in some venues. Such a fun energy. Lots of people, cool cars cruising through, cattle, horses, etc. We went to the rodeo at Cowtown Coliseum and it did not disappoint. Love this place. Would like to return.

While some of the areas were as we remembered, the area now has even more of a tourist trap feel, which is sad. We still enjoyed the longhorns, certain bars, and the tea shop. To say it was crowded is an understatement.

We enjoy visiting the Stockyards when we're in the DFW area. This time, we arrived a little later so we missed the cattle drive. We were able to find free street parking near the area. We had a nice dinner at Cattleman's and went to the PBR event in the evening.
We'll go back.

Very Texan. It's exactly what I thought it would be. Glad I went, had to have Vegas mentality where it's legal for open containers which was crazy yet cool for you if age people's. The cattle drive was super cool too but super short. Allot to do and see though.

We really liked it. You can even find 5-7 minutes of the action free PP. In the evening we had tickets to the rodeo also that is highly recommended. Twice a day the longhorn cows walk through the District. There's a lot going on all along the road and it's a lot of fun. 2-3 days should be taken into account to enjoy it without hectic

We have heard about this from friends. It is absolutely a must-see detour if you are in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Live stockyards drive every day late morning and late afternoon, plus plenty to see to fill up a half day. Fun for the whole family. Everything is free and worth the time.

Had a fun time in the Stockyards! Was able to valet my car so we didnât have to fight for a parking spot. Garrett, the guy that valeted our car, was so polite, professional, and trusting! If you are going to head there and valet, ask for him!!! It may take a bit to get your car but that is because they are super busy, but he will get your car as fast as he can. He will take care of you! Great restaurants and shopping are also there. Be sure to watch the cattle drive which happens two times a day.

Wonderful, western atmosphere! We loved watching the cattle drive, and learning about the cattle history of the area.

This was a neat piece of Texas history! At 11:30 AM and 4:00 PM, the ranch hands walk the cattle around the block through town. The announcer explains the purpose of the walk and why it was done in the past. They also explain the different formations and the different terms, such as lead, flank, etc. After watching the cattle walk, you can peruse the various shops located in the Stockyards, or dine/drink at the variety of restaurants that are available. Most of the shops open at 10 AM. The cattle pen is also a neat place to visit and you can see the entire herd. The arena is open to walk around, as is the site where the cattle were auctioned off in the past. You can walk around both of them on your own, or you can pay for a guided tour. There is also a small train ride, a maze, a mechanical bull, and some other fun activities for an extra cost. You can also sit on a bull for $10. Overall, it was a neat experience, but a little touristy and slightly overpriced.

My family of four, we have two teenagers, had a fun day here. Arrived around noon. Did lots of shopping, took a break for a shake at Shake Shak, took pictures on longhorn for $5 (cowboy was super nice), watched the 4 o clock cattle drive, son rode the mechanical bull for $9, grabbed a delicious dinner at Riscky's BBQ, and then went to a bull riding event at Cowtown Coliseum. Fun filled day!!!!

This is a great place for people with young families to seniors. Lots of great shopping and restaurants. Get there early for a parking spot.

This was a fun experience with my two girls (ages 9 and 11). We enjoyed the maze and the souvenir shops. The cattle drive was interesting to watch. There was an overwhelming amount of options to eat and drink. We chose to eat at H3 and that did not disappoint! Easy parking but that cost some money. We would return again if we are ever in the area!

The stockyards was such a fun experience and lot of shopping to do. You canât miss the cattle drive they have everyday. Itâs a unique experience.

This is a happening place. You can shop and carry drinks everywhere, they even give free drinks in some stores. Everyone dresses western. Watched the cattle drive, went to the John Wayne Experience and the Texas Vownoy Hall of Fame, as well as the cowboy museum. Ate and drank at cool pubs with live music. Danced at Billy Bobs. Donât miss it!!!!!

It really is one of the coolest things in DFW to go see... It's one of those things like doing an immersive encounter with the capybara at The Dunham Farm... That you can't do anywhere else.
We highly recommend

The whole place was wonderful! Allow all day to take it all in, and donât miss the tour that happens twice a day, and also the cattle drive that happens twice a day.

Drivers are great and tell you about the Longhorns. Fun to see them herded down the road. The whole area is nice with lots of shopping, bars and restaurants.

Take step back in time! Stroll over to the White Elephant Saloon for a cold one. Just across the street, buy Ice Cold Beer for just $3.00!

Fun place to explore! We watched the long horn cattle walk down the street and were able to take a picture on one. There are tons of little shops and restaurants to wander through. Rode a mechanical bull and did the petting zoo. Great way to spend a day!

We were spending the day in Fort Worth, and definitely wanted to see the cattle drive. It happens two times a day, 11:30 AM and 4pm. Somehow, we got it in our head that it was at 4:30 PM, so when we left a store we found out we had missed it as it only lasts about five minutes. But if you go to the stockyards building and follow the signs, you can go back to the pens where they keep the Longhorns and you can watch them stroll around and eat. Maybe not as exciting as watching them walk down the street, but it was a great experience to be able to see them in person. The pens also have an upper deck, so you can get a view from a higher vantage point.

A neighborhood with unique charm, with a real atmosphere of Wild West and cowboys. The heritage is beautifully preserved, and the city is simply splendid. Unfortunately, I didnât have the chance to attend a rodeo during my visit (itâs only part handed over), but the place remains magical. I went there by day to enjoy the shops and by night to discover the bars and restaurants, all very nice. We went to the bar second rodeo a great atmosphere. An experience not to be missed if you are in the area!

We were pleasantly surprised by all that there was to do in the area. Shops, restaurants and all kinds of things to see. Seeing the cowboys ride their long horns down the street was definitely a surprise! Loved the history of the area and the cobblestone street of Exchange Avenue. Even in the heat, we enjoyed our day. All shops and restaurants had cold air-conditioning. đ We would recommend that anyone in the area stop here for the day.

What a wonderful area! Lots of stores, restaurants, bars, activities, and things to see. Area was clean and interesting to walk around, parking wasnât an issue either. I would schedule up to 1 hour for just walking around and if you want then add restaurant and the rodeo on top.

We heard this was a really Texas thing to do, so we went for it. We enjoyed the history and the scenery. Just be aware that parking is $20 and that if you spend money in the candy shop, you'll get $5 of candy for $20! Our bad. Our favorite part was the gun show (a lot of laughs), but we also enjoyed the cattle drive, feeding the animals, the maze, and especially viewing the long-horn cattle.

Go if only for the longhorns! You have to see in person to appreciate how huge the horns are. Went to the 11am cattle drive with a small throng of people lining the streets. The Stockyards museum (minimal admission fee) also was very interesting and featured the 2nd longest running light bulb in the US (if I remember correctly).

Long horn cattle horns are larger than expected. Thereâs restaurants, gift shops, holiday events, petting zoo, and photo opportunities. The cattle drive was smaller than I expected, the gun fight was amusing and packed with people.

The cattle drive was worth the trip to Ft. Worth. There was a Sam Elliott look- alike and sound- alike person speaking on a megaphone to the spectators along the sidewalk. Those longhorns are spectacular. Great shopping too!

I really enjoyed my visit. I think I was lucky going on a weekday in February, because I'm guessing it can get quite crowded. Fun stores and restaurants. And I really enjoyed learning all the history and seeing longhorn cattle for the first time! Cool that they still keep the cattle drive tradition alive.

We were in the Fort Worth area on June 3-5. Drove from Georgia to go to Kenny Chesney concert in Arlington and decided to stay in Fort Worth. After checking in, went to the Fort Worth Stockyards and had a great time. We watched the cattle drive come down the street, then went and ate a great steak at the Cattlemen's SteakHouse. Visited Billy Bob's and went to the rodeo that night. Also visited a couple of the bars that had bands playing. It was a great Friday night. You need to visit the Fort Worth Stockyards. There is something there to see for everyone.

The âStockyardsâ are a must for tourists. While not a âworkingâ stockyard, they have two cattle drives daily with their resident long horns. Lots of shopping, restaurants and history abound.

When in Ft. Worth make sure to stop at the Stockyards on the northwest side of town.
Lots of great food, very cool vibe, and nice folks.
We went to a rodeo at the CowTown Colliseum and it was amazing. There was bull riding, bronco bucking, and the most skilled cowboy who spun a lariat and did some incredible moves with it. A great time, not to be missed.
Along the strip are many shops and history of the stockyards, some great steakhouses, and top end clothing and leather shops.

We had a great time at the Stockyards in Fort Worth. There are lots of venues to enjoy, restaurants, the cattle drive, rodeo and stage groups. It is a really fun, happening place for all ages. It is an energizing experience. You just have to do it!

Back to the Wild West here. Itâs all rather themed but also based on authenticity and fact and is absolutely brilliant. You can watch longhorn cattle amble down the street then later sit on one for a small fee. Learn about cowboys and lassos and eat drink and shop in the many bars and shops along the way. We also had a stage coach tour which was really interesting. An absolute must see if in area

This was our first time at such an experience. We went there during the Women's Rodeo Championship and it was breathtaking to view it in person. The longhorn steer drive was great to see. It was a fully western experience.

What a great experience seeing longhorn cattle being driven down a city street by cowboys. It was so exciting to see and be a part of while visiting Fort Worth. Shop while you are there, eat a fantastic meal from one of the many local restaurants and be sure to visit the cattle and horses before they start their daily daily cattle drive. Take lots of pictures and enjoy your time in the Historic District!

Enjoyed our weekend stay for wifeâs birthday. Lots of things to do depending on your taste including just walking around enjoying good food, drinks, live music, cattle drive and other fun things to do and see. Stayed at Hotel Drover so everything was just outside the front door. Best of all, people visiting and locals were all very courteous and polite. Canât say how refreshing that was. Good old Texas hospitality.

We arrive just after the first walking of the cattle so had to wait until 4 well had no issue filling in time what a great place to visit so much to do with a great range of shops, eateries & bars. This is a must do if in Dallas or surrounding areas

Beautiful and scenic adventure into the western past. They have a lovely parade of longhorns twice a day and they are huge! It's nice to get up close and personal with these beauties. There's a petting zoo, kiddie attractions, a rodeo arena, many shops and restaurants to visit. At Christmas time, it is decorated beautifully. Definitely could spend an entire day there.

Great place to visit. The cattle drive is a "must see" as well as the mock gun fights. If you're here during the holidays, the kids will love visiting Santa.

Touristy, stereotypical Texas- cattle, rodeo, cowboy boots & hats, etc. but a must see!! Check out the Second Rodeo Brewing. Really unique beer garden area. Cattle drive everyday 11:30 & 4pm. Rodeo Fri and Sat nights. All ages can find something to enjoy here! Find free parking on a street or two away from the main area.
Western feeling
I was a bit skeptical at the beginning, I certainly did not regret the visit at the end. The whole thing is certainly touristy. But it offers many photo motifs and brings back the western feeling. The highlight was certainly the short march of the Longhorns. There are also many nice restaurants, bars and souvenir shops. The visit is free, but the parking lots are salted.
