It is a worth to bear the traffic congestion going up to Glacier Point, unless a person park the car an take a free public transportation which is easy to get around Yosemite Valley. The Glacier Point is a most photogenic place and every picture turns a gem. A view of Half Dome and the Valley is indescribably beautiful. Calculate to spend at least 2 hour. Also there is a nice souvenir shop to buy a T-shirt or a cap wit Yosemite logo.

Very long drive from the valley to the Glacier point but worth it. This is a. must visit point in Yosemite, a breath taking view.

Glacier Point is a drive, but you will not regret taking the time to drive up there!! The views are spectacular. I really recommend going at sunset to see the park light up in an orange/red color! Don't forget to bundle up because the elevation is high and it gets cold as the sun starts to set.

Breathtaking, drive up was a little white knuckled but so worth it. Would highly recommend. Stop at Washburn Point along the way.

A spot everyone should visit at least once. You can hike there, drive yourself, or go via bus tour and leave the hairy driving to an expert. The views are spectacular. There is a small convenience store and restrooms there, a good thing to know since getting up there can take at least an hour via vehicle. If waterfalls are important to you, be sure to avoid the dry season when the ethereal falls stop flowing.

Worth the drive for the view. Nice sunrise spot looking towards Half Dome. Only a short walk from the parking area.

Whilst it takes nearly an hour to drive up the winding road to Glacier Point from Yosemite Valley and the parking can be a nightmare, it is simply a MUST DO! It is one of, if not the, best views of Yosemite & Nevada Falls and Half Dome.
The best tip we got was to go up early, which we did. There were still hundreds of people up there, but you could still take photos without the crowds with a little patience. The middle of the day with the day trips and tour buses would be hellish🤯
For the car enthusiasts, there were some pretty sweet rides and an almost full range of Ferrari’s on show in the parking lot too 🚘😂

i hiked from badger pass ski area to glacier point on 3/28 and posted a vlog on yoütübe with tips and info so you can be prepared! search "Nikko Gandia Travels" or find a link to my yoütübe on my profile.
wilderness permit issued at badger pass ranger station (200 ft. to the right of main ski lodge) or a-frame. self registration on porch when open.
make sure to keep up with the road closure/construction updates!
fresh powder so the snowshoes were needed. camped near ostrander rocks.

For any reason, I felt different kind of vibration pleasing the mind at Glacier Point. Breeze added more flavor to my experience. No words would describe the joy of the place.

We visited Glacier on our first day in Yosemite; arriving like most tourists by car to the car park, we then made a long excursion up to the peaks above the Glacier to our great satisfaction. Of course the photos are plentiful and the view is beautiful especially at sunset; on the top there is a shop that sells a bit of everything, including food, at "international" prices (without competition)...

Another must see. Short and easy hike to one of the best overlooks in the area! Overlooks multiple water falls with a vast expanse of the mountains. Highly recommended!

Wondrous!! Worth the $ to ride a tour bus up as you get a lot of information as well! Parking Can be very packed up at the top. But the views canNOT be beat. Quite a few people of various ages set out for the 4-mile hike down as well.

We got so lucky! The road is closed during the winter and it was the first day it was open for the season. It was absolutely worth the long drive. The view is absolutely to die for and if this is all we saw the whole trip would have been worth it. It is an hour+ each way but once in a lifetime view.

Great views after a short walk. Very crowded in mid May. Parking is more available in the upper lot. Four mile trail and panorama trail both converge very close to the point.

If you go to Yosemite Valley, it's extremely worth the 1 - 1.5 hour trip to Glacier Point. Nothing compares. Having said that, be prepared to circle the parking lot for an hour, waiting for someone to leave. And I can't stress this enough: try to use a bathroom before you visit Glacier Point. I'm not picky about pit toilets but these are WAY disgusting. My eyes were literally stinging. The worst bathrooms on the west coast; a national disgrace. If you HAVE to go, find a tree or a bush.

It is worth the drive on Glacier Point Drive to see Half Dome, Yosemite Valley, and Vernal and Nevada Falls. It is a curvy road, but we are so glad we made the drive. This was the last stop of our day, and it was beautiful! We walked the short uphill trail to the outlook, and we highly recommend it.

I traveled to Yosemite around fall. I asked for advices online as to where to go first and the consensus was Glacier Point. I recommend to drive there as early as 6 am as traffic can get bad around mid day and parking is also a pain around that time. If you go early, you have the place by yourself and can take as many pictures as you want.

The view you can admire from this glacier is simply breathtaking!
Expanses and immense valleys, the blue of the sky that blends with the green of the woods and the rocks of the walls that go down sheer are an unparalleled sight!
Unico!

The view is so amazing, you just cannot believe it. You have a complete view of Yosemite village, the meadow, Yosemite falls, Half Dome, Vernal and Nevada falls. Absolutely worth the hour to drive up there. See it at sunset for spectacular color festival on the mountains. Gift shop and restrooms are available.

A 16 mile road takes you from the main park road up along the high country South of Yosemite Valley. At the end of the road there are two viewpoints. The first is a view of Half Dome and Vernal Falls and Nevada Falls. Absolutely breathtaking views! The second viewpoint is Glacier Point where a short walk takes you to the edge of the cliff over looking the Yosemite Valley which is more than 3,200 feet below you. This would probably be an uncomfortable experience for anyone who struggles with fear of heights. From this area you can see great views of Yosemite Falls, the valley floor and Half Dome. The weather in this area can be very different than the valley floor. I was there in late May 2019 and the road opened for the season the first day I was in the park. I went the next day and experienced rain, hail and snow during my time on top. Temperatures were 15-20 degrees (F) colder than the valley floor that same afternoon. Be prepared for inclement weather.

On our last day in the park, we weren't sure about the very long drive to check out Glacier Point, but we are extremely glad we did. We stopped at nearby Washburn Point first. That whole area is indescribable. Do not miss this.

The road is open less than half the year due to snow. But if you're there late spring through mid-fall take the ride up. You will have to ignore the tourists taking high risk selfies etc but the views of Half Dome, El Capitan and the Yosemite Valley are stunning!

On a clear day you can see forever.....like the song goes. The views were impeccable in every direction. Go early for easy parking, but we didn't have a problem since most people are coming/going in this area. Outstanding vista location.

We enjoyed the great view here. This is a busy place and is located next to the tunnel. Unfortunately wedding pictures were taking place while we there so there were limited spots to take our own pictures.

This is a must stop in one’s lifetime
The views from this point are breathtaking .
The sounds and views of stunning waterfalls in the distance . Half dome and the majestic mountain tops . Yosemite is a must to take the entire family when kids are older
Later teens and early 20’s -

Make sure you do Glacier Point!!! This was our highlight of the whole park with fantastic views of seemingly everything!

This is one thing you don't want to miss with a visit to Yosemite. The road up can be twisty and turny - make sure you pay attention. Also watch the weather - it can change in a heartbeat. But, this by far was the most incredible thing we've seen. Plan to spend at least an hour or more walking around. Some people bring a lunch and enjoy it there. It's a very long ride up and there are lots of places to stop and pulloff for some other beautiful views on the way - so drive slow so you can take advantage of them. Also, parking is a real pain at Glacier Point - it backs way up - just be patient - it's worth it.

I couldn't believe these views! Amazing in so many directions. Definitely worth the long winding drive.

To truly understand what the Lord meant when He spoke to Abraham, visit Glacier point after the sun sets, You’ll be amazed by what you didn’t know was up there!

There are no sites in Yosemite that are not spectacular. But as Road Scholar says, to really see the park, you must hike, if you can!

...one hour drive each way.
We visited late afternoon after being down below in the valley all day. Clouds turned overcast by the time we arrived, but the views of half dome & the falls were still good. Parking spots were available. Also stopped at Washburn Point along the way up.

This overlook gives a wonderful view of th Yosemite Valley. There are restroons here and a lot of parking, but it gets busy so come early or later in the day. Worth the drive, especially if you are already up here for the Sentinel or Taft Point hikes.

Don't miss Glacier point, it is a must see. The best vista views in the park! This is well worth the drive to get to and the view of half dome is spectacular.

Glacier Point is a great way to see the waterfalls & Half Dome! We went in the morning and in the evening. The sights are spectacular.

We drove 16 miles from the 41 junction. The viewpoint was packed with people. The views of Yozsemite Valley from here are absolutely worth the effort - Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, El Capitan, and on and on.

Let's start with the only bad thing about this place (hence the 4 stars). I understand there is no sewer system there and that the bathrooms are non-flush waterless toilet system called vaults. I get that. But there has to be a way those bathrooms have to be cleaned at least every two to three hours, considering the amount of people that visit the place. Worst bathrooms I've been to in all my life.
As for Glacier Point itself, definitely one of the best viewpoints in the park. Plenty of places to sit down and relax and admire the views. There is a giftshop that also sells snacks and plenty of water We stayed for the sunset and waited for the stars to come out (we went on a New Moon). It was magical and something we'll never forget.

On our 2013 visit we didn't have time to drive up to Glacier Point and even a week ahead of our visit snow still covered some of the road so we were thrilled to finally get to see this amazing place.
Be sure to spend lots of time walking around the entire point and taking pictures of Half Dome, Vernal Falls and Nevada Falls. There was still snow on several adjoining peaks within our view.

We went up here for sunset. We stayed for about a half hour. It was absolutely stunning and so relaxing to see the colors change in the sky and the colors of the scenery change. Definitely recommend!

Just amazing a must see. The drive up is brilliant a bit twisty but well worth it for the spectacular views

We did Glacier Point Road for sunrise, and it was worth it! There was hardly any traffic or people. We were able to take our time and enjoy the sights.

It took a long wait time to get a parking place. Folks were waiting for bottom row parking spots when there were many available in the top row. The kids asked, “where’s the glacier?”

Stop at Washburn point on your way down, right before Glacier.
At sunset, I was able to get a parking spot at glacier point no problem. Great views with less people than during the day.
This was the only spot in the park where I saw a park ranger! They are understaffed this year due to the shutdown a while back.
If you go in the evening, don’t forget it’s about 45 min back to the main road and very windy with no rails in pitch black! If you’re comfortable with that, go for it!

Enjoyed the views ... vastness was endearingly overwhelming. One could easily spend a half-day just at this attraction.

If I could give this place a million stars, I would! Stunning, beautiful, gorgeous, and awesome are complete understatements.

I drove to this point early morning, just as daylight was breaking, and it was thoroughly worthwhile. Stunning outlooks towards Half Dome and down into Yosemite Valley. I imagine this area becomes really busy later in the day and the carpark may become full. If you visit Yosemite, don't miss this out.

This is a must do in Yosemite especially if you have already covered the valley. The views are breathtaking. The parking goes crazy be here early. We took multiple shots of the valley and half dome with the abundant waterfalls. There are alot of people around. You will always find a great shot. There is a store and a souvenir place.

The scale of the views in Yosemite are almost too much to take in! Glacier point is no exception. Just wow!

amazing views, but go early as there will be huge crowds later! we enjoyed sentinel dome more as it was quieter and away from the crowds - it is really a circus at Glacier view after 10 am.

This is without a doubt the best place to get an overview of Yosemite Valley. It is an easy hike from the parking lot. It is also wheelchair accessible. It is not an easy drive to the top. There are a lot of switchbacks and sharp turns, but the view is worth it. Make sure you have a full tank of gas before entering the park. Gasoline is expensive inside the park and it is a long drive from any of the towns.

Family of 5 so we decided to take the bus up to the top (pre-booked one way before our trip as was full when we went in summer holidays) and then we walked the beautiful walk down to the bottom. A good way of doing it as around 5 mile walk (can be steep with a little bit of a drop in places but fine if kids can be trusted not to wander near the edge and all really enjoyed it including our 11 year old). Plenty of places to stop so we had lots of water as it was very hot (remember to take sunscreen although shop at top sells it as lots of people did forget when we were there) and a picnic.
Well worth a visit!

The drive up is quite something - with lots of parking bays - and worth it to arrive at this viewpoint. Panoramic view of Yosemite - amazing photo opportunities. End August wasn’t busy - but the wasps were out. Could not picnic as they were ferocious! Toilets (like Yosemite) clean but compost/other - hold your nose and go!

The go-to viewpoint in Yosemite offering incredible elevated views of the Valley and Half-Dome. Renowned for being busy but there are lots of parking spaces, just make sure to time your trip correctly, early morning probably best.

It is about a 25 mile drive from Bridalveil, but well worth it. As you go and see these epic views of the valley, it is breath taking. A must when you're in Yosemite.

The magnificent panoramic view is well worth the drive! I wish the grill had been open. The sign said is will be closed all of 2019 due to the generator not working. Why are our tax dollars not spent on our National Parks? They belong to the American people and a generator is not that expensive!

Looking out from Glacier Point gives yiu a different , panoramic view of both the Yosemite vally and the Sierras. Looking one direction and you can see the east end of the vally. Turn and you can see the waterfalls and granite domes that mark this place. The drive can seem long but The scenery is a mix of rocky vistas on one side and the occasional alpine meadow on the other. There are spots where you can get out and stretch you legs. The point is also the end point of two strenuous hikes down to the valley floor, the Four mile trail...actually about 4.4 miles...and the neatly 9 mile long Panoramo trail, great if you feel up to it.

Not too many ppl when we arrive at 3pm, probably because they are controlling visitor per day in national park. Smoke was not crazy today, view was okay. -Oct 16 2020

We drove out to Glacier point early in the day. There is a large parking lot and a small snack/gift shop.
The view of the Yosemite valley is spectacular. There are a few worthwhile hikes along the way.

I have visited 45 National Parks and I love the natural settings, the views, the trails, finding peaceful spots, and taking photos. But I also really like going to the popular locations with a diverse group of people all marveling at incredible panoramas. And I like the gift shop/snack bar combinations quite a bit. Glacier point has stunning views, short trails and walking paths, kiosks and snacks. It’s worth the drive.
As in all places like this - parking is a challenge. So go early or ride the shuttle. But you should go.

This was a beautiful view of the area. If you are there "in season" be sure to take the shuttle as parking is limited.

We had one hour from our tour to visit all of the view points and visit the gift store. The gift store was over packed so we didn't even go inside. The lines for the few restrooms was long. That being said, the views are awe inspiring. Looking out at the expansive vista is incredible. It is a must do if you are visiting Yosemite.

The view is breathtaking. It’s worth to drive up there probably 1 hour after you pass the park entrance. Of course, there is a limit parking space. I got there on Sunday before 10:30 am and fortunately there’re a few parking spaces left. I suggest if you want to visit Glacier Point on Sunday (not sure about Saturday), you should get there before 10 am.

easy access for all levels of skills. Try make it there just before sunset. Its gorgeous and worth it.
However, need some illuminations to get back safely to parking lot.

Sunset pinks over mountains beautiful. Long walk uphill for disabled. Very crowded. Excellent ranger talks.

We visited around 9 a.m. on a Wednesday in mid-June. We had no issues with finding a parking spot. There was a line for the pit toilets at the front of the lot. We used the pit toilets at the end of the lot near where we parked and there was not a line. The walk to Glacier Point from the parking lot is paved, short and easy. The views are beautiful! This was one of our first stops in the park after Bridalveil Fall and Tunnel View. Take some pictures and just take some time to enjoy the beautiful view.

This is a must see if you are in Yosemite and is well worth a long drive. We visited in mid-September and it was busy. Once you get to the point, Car parking is limited and operates a one-way system, but as people are coming and going all of the time, you will get a space eventually. The views across to Half Dome and the surrounding hills and valleys are spectacular and the drop to the meadows below is huge, making cars and people look like tiny insects. Have a good look around as there are lots of fantastic view points. When you are done visit the store/cafe where the ice creams are large and surprisingly inexpensive.

A beautiful place to look down on Yosemite Valley and the mountains and waterfalls of Yosemite. Limited parking for large crowds so arrive early. Bathrooms on site. Sunset is probably the busiest time. Normally closed in winter due to snow.

Personally the most beautiful spot in Yosemite Park.
We reached it in about 30 minutes from the south gate. Along the way we stopped at Washburn Point.
In both places the view of Half Dome is spectacular.
At the top there is both a small shop and bathrooms.
Don't miss it!

This was without a doubt the best thing we did in Yosemite. Stunning, beautiful views. The photos cannot do it justice! Up there with the Grand Canyon and Swiss Alps for the most beautiful views we've ever seen.
The car park gets busy, so I'd recommend going early in the day. Have a good walk along the trails (easy, fairly flat) to see the valley from various different points...
Wow, just wow.

If you can do one thing only at YNP, this would be it. The spectacular views and the Point's history are unmatched. But go early as the crowds get larger as the day goes on.

The best view of the valley and Half dome. No one should miss this view, must visit. I have seen the half dome from this point multiple times. This is spectacular.

We drove up and watched the sunset from the point. It is definitely is worth the hour plus drive from the valley

The most amazing views in the park! After the Valley Floor Tour, it was interesting to see things from above! Well worth the long drive up the mountain. Would not recommend trying to come down after dark, so plan your visit to have daylight when you leave. It was our last place to visit before we left the park and so glad we did!

I can't believe how amazing it looked up there. The views looked like a painting, just unreal.
They have a lot of parking with restroom buildings but, if you need to go to the restroom, they were horrible smelling, be prepared to hold your breath.
They also had a nice gift shop/convenient store right on top too. Try the huckleberry licorice, my wife loved it.

Getting to the Glacier Point overlook is a little inconvenient in that it is a lengthy drive that has only one end point, but wow is it worth it.
They've engineered it so that you can find plenty of space to stand and look without other people getting in your way. Oh and you can take a photo or two (don't forget to experience it!).
Bring a polarizing filter for your camera if you can, it will help cut through haze and enable you to capture the miles and miles of mountains in the distance.
Parking can be a real hassle, so maybe find a bus alternative.

A must do when in Yosemite to take in the stunning beauty. The road does close so attention needs to be paid to that timing. We were fortunate to see Glacier Point a day before it closed - just spectacular and beautiful! There is elevation gain and turns on the road to the top. There is a paved trail to the view point. Lots of parking was available.

Truly incredible views. Starting at the bottom nice and early you get increasingly good views of the north side of the valley, particularly Yosemite Falls. Worth the short walk to the little lookout halfway up. The upper part continues a pretty steep hike on pretty well kept trail. The bit that got me (vertigo) was a narrow snow covered ledge you need to cross to reach the beautiful woods just below the peak - scary. The rangers had come up and partly cleared it later in the day but still found it difficult.
Tip: I was really lucky with timing (early May) on a Monday. Very few people as the road up was still blocked by snow and COVID kept a lot of Lon distance travelers away. Crowds therefore very light, maybe 30 people total at the summit with me - there can be a lot more.

The view from here is just epic! From the glacier point you feel like you are on top of the world. The rock formations are distinct and this place shows nature at its best.
if you appreciate nature, you should visit Yosemite National Park where you can wander around for hours. There are different things to see:
The Vernal waterfall
The bridal veil waterfall
The sunset with its changing colours on El Capitan rock etc
You can easily get ideas on what to do from the information centres. This was a great way to spend my time and I totally recommend a visit.

My son and I hiked up to Glacier Point on the Four Mile Trail. The views are as advertised and are amazing. My only complaint, and the reason for docking a star is the crowds. Had we drove up and joined the crowds straight from the car it would not have likely been so overwhelming. We had a lot of space to ourselves on the trail and equally stunning, if not better views. Glacier Point is a trailhead for several awesome hikes if you can convince someone to drop you off.

This is an amazing place to see an awesome view of half dome and other sites. The road up to it is very twisty but their is a large parking lot and the path to Glacier Point is very easy & short. There is also a store there that is fairly well stocked. Go! Be amazed!

Seasonally open, this is one of the best "drive-able" views of glacial valleys and the Sierra back-country. Don't miss it!

When you go to this park, you feel like entering a prison. "You can't park here" " You can't poop here", "You need a permit to walk on this trail", " You can't sleep at this camping spot" "You can't park here, there, anywhere. Parking lots are to look at." Not worthy. Beautiful nature but commercial park.

The panoramic view from here was stunning! When I return, I’ll do the nighttime tour, which several other travelers had taken and adored. It was a great place to be still and take it all in. Don’t miss this spectacular spot.

Absolutely breathtaking views. We drove from Curry Village so it takes a little bit to get up here. Once up there, not a long walk to the scenic point. So beautiful and unreal! We also brought some food to picnic up there (it attracted quite a few bees though so *bee* careful)

We planned to walk there, but the trail was closed, so we get there by car. Big parkplace, snow, amazing views over whole yossemite valey. You have to see this.

What an absolute breathtaking view! Such a fun place to hang out for a few hours. To see half dome across the way is so cool.

Easy to drive up in a passenger vehicle. You can also hike up from Yosemite Valley! Great views from the lookouts, there is a small gift shop up there as well.

All of Yosemite was just amazing - end of August wasn't to busy , but still lively. All the different views towards and from Glacier point - just amazing. Allow enough time driving there and back- seminars and talks and walks from there Glazier point that we missed as we didnt realise it happened. But all of the park is just stunning - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I drove there on a Saturday & the line to get into the parking lot was unbelievably long!! Plan for 45 minutes... it was well worth the wait! Never a more stunning view have I ever seen!!!! Also the point will be closed for 3 years for parking lot renovation so if u want to view this incredible place then go now!

Absolutely stunning!!! A must! The view was extraordinary and leaves you exhilarated. Everyone there was friendly and polite.
Parking is a bit of an issue, so go off peak if possible. The ride up is fantastic and there are numerous spots to stop off and get views. We will always remember this vacation!

Best view of the whole Yosemite Valley, at least among places that don't require a considerable hike. You can get a very good sense of the geography and the landmarks of Yosemite. Nevada, Vernal and Yosemite falls are readily visible from here as well.

Not enough words can explain how beautiful there is. Its breath taking and up there easily you can get with children driving to the top. You can not miss it .its well accommodated and there were water hook ups for if being thirsty, a restaurant with lots of ice creams🙂 and wonderful views of the whole Yosemite park and the 3 wonderful waterfalls . My kids loved it even more because the squarrels were all over the place 🤣❤

Free guild talking about the history and physics of Yosemite at sunset, then wait to see one of the most beautiful starry night sky! It had the most stars our kids (11+9 y/o) have ever seen, and my personal 2nd best after Africa. Take binoculars to show kids there are more than 7 stars in the Plough! And jackets - it is a bit chill after the night falls.

45 mins drive from the West Entrance. The view was beautiful. Half dome is so close from there. I would stay there for the whole day to enjoy the view. Very busy there, get there early to grab a parking.

Like the Grand Canyon, pictures cannot capture the depth and energy of the view and it take time to feel the magnificence. Definitely, go in the spring with the snow melts flowing everywhere!

Who wouldn't like the view from Glacier Point. You can drive yourself (go after 6PM to avoid crowds and park fees) or take a tour. There is a lot of traffic and that is why we took a bus trip. You can do either, much cheaper to do it yourself and you might get delayed a little, but not $150 worth. Just get there early in the morning or late.

It says permanently closed but it is not. Simply a stunning view. Not to be missed. Not an easy walk but do it if you can. Driving feels like cheating and parking is very hard. You can go up four mile or John Muir/Panorama. We did Mist and Panorama. Not easy but take your time. Words cannot describe what you will see

We drove up to Glacier Point in the morning. A bear crossed the road right in front of us, so be aware. The views from the top are awe-inspiring and fabulous. The clear day and blue skies added to the beauty. We took many photos. The view of Half Dome is wonderful. There is a gift shop at the top. You can buy a souvenir or an ice cream treat. I bought a coffee mug and some postcards. Restrooms are available at the top, but if you stop at the restrooms half-way up, there is no line! It is about an hourlong drive to Glacier Point, but well worth the time spent, especially if you are not hiking. Highly recommend!

You can drive to this viewpoint and then it is a 15 minute walk from the parking lot. Viewpoint is rather remote but there are bathrooms around the parking lot.

We did not think this was going to be open and it wasn't until our last day here. It's a 15 mile drive up the mountain and parts of it are very tight and twisting but it is so worth it. You can look out over the whole valley and see almost everything in the park. Super easy to see how this valley was carved out by a glacier and everything is visible below you. Easily the best view anywhere in this area. There is a small gift shop up here too with food and snacks and multiple bathrooms. This is a must see if you are going to Yosemite.

Absolutely the most outstanding views of the park. It is a drive, so plan your day because this will take half of it. However you have to schedule it, make it happen. If you leave the park without seeing this view . . . well, you will have 4 hours extra time in the park to see other things, but you will have to come back for The Best views of the park another time.

Although the views are spectacular from this point, I thought Washburn was better because it didn't take a hike to get to it.

Glacier Point affords an amazing perspective of Yosemite Valley--from above. You can hike up from the valley, but it is a difficult 4 miles with ~3500 of elevation gain. You can also drive up when the road is open (1 hour drive from Yosemite Valley). There is a gift shop and snack bar here.

We loved visiting Glacial Point because of the views. You get great views of Half Dome and both the Nevada and Vernal waterfalls. In the distance, we could also water cascading down a stone face. The views of these falls were spectacular due to the record snow falls this past winter. From Glacier Point you can hike several trails including one that takes you to Sentinel Dome. What a 360 degree view from there!

Easy hike. Awesome height from here looking down at the village. The rocks at the viewpoint, pine trees and rocky mountains on the other side are a wholesome mix of sights to take in.

Can't deny it's great view but must go early to find parking. It's on top of the hill and parking lot is always packed if come late. Prepare your binoculars and cameras.

A trip to Yosemite for me definitely includes Glacier Point.
My favorite view is peering down at Curry Village. At 9:30 am, it appeared there was still parking space in the CV Visitor parking lot but the Hiker's Lot was full.
This is also a great place to refill a water bottle.

What a wonderful place. So much to see and do. Spectacular views and vistas. Great walks. Very well serviced and easy to get around
This has to be one the nicest places to visit in teh world

Perfect place to sit and stay a while, and watch the sun set over Yosemite Valley! Tons of parking and public restrooms available here too.

This is a must see at sunset. Get there at least an hour before to get a parking spot. Take dinner, a snack, wine or nothing and enjoy the changing light and panoramic views. Key view is Half Dome!
A hike beforehand to either Sentinel Dome or Taft point or both adds a good hike before sitting at sunset.

This was quite a drive on winding narrow roads however the views on the way and when you get there are spectacular. this is well worth a visit

Enjoying our ice cream on a hot day while we enjoy the majestic view at Glacier Point. There were few crowds/visitors on this 4th of July weekend getaway amidst coronara virus. We were lucky to obtain a limited park entry to Yosemite.

This is a wonderful place where you can feel the grandeur of Yosemite. You will definitely be moved. According to the ranger, the starry sky from here is amazing.

I’m not even slightly exaggerating when I say to do whatever it takes to get to the top of GP. There are very few busses that go up there and they have to be booked decades in advance - but if you aren’t one of the lucky few- GET UP THERE! And bring some money for ice cream 🍦

The best view of Yosemite is from the Glacier Point! No regrets driving up the windy mountain for 45mins just to get up to the summit. The view is simply just BREATHTAKING. You cannot conclude Yosemite without a trip up here. We were blessed with clear blue skies and minimal crowd while we were there. It was SO BEAUTIFUL! The view cannot be compared to the view from the Yosemite Valley. Seeing everything from a birds eye view is just incredible.

Our first day in Yosemite this was closed because of the snow but driving in on the second they had opened it up, the ride up was very cool with so much snow and the views at the top were breathtaking.

If you visit Yosemite, this is a most place to see. With the heavy snows of this past winter and with temperatures rising, the view of the falls makes the entire trip worth while. When we took our pictures, some of them seem as if you have people standing in front of a mural or picture instead of them standing in front of the actual place.

I'm an avid mountaineer and I've climbed mountains all over the world but this is my favorite spot. Each place has its own unique beauty but I think Glacier Point is the most beautiful place on earth - and you can drive up to it! If you visit Yosemite, this is a MUST SEE place to go!
While you're there, hike over to Sentinel Dome and/or Taft Point (~2 miles round trip each). The trailhead for both is just a couple of miles before Glacier Point. The views form there are also stunning!

Glacier point is a high point so that you can see mostly of the Yosemite features at this points, including the iconic Half dome, you can also see 4 waterfalls such as Vernal fall, Nevada fall, Yosemite falls, they are majestic, you can go along the paved trail to see different view (at least 270 degree if not 360 degree of angle) of the Yosemite. Be aware that if the parking lot in the Glacier point is full, then the road driving up to the Glacier point may be closed, so better go there earlier, but for the day we went (Monday in late June), there are still several parking space available at 10:30am, not sure if the parking lot will be filled up more quickly in weekends or in July/Aug, but in weekday of late June, still have several parking space at 10:30am. Of course you can hike up to here or from here, hike down to other points, but the trail is a tough one and takes several hours of hike. There are also ranger program in this site, I also post the photo of ranger program on that day, just for reference, it may changed from time to time.

It is well worth the hike or drive out of Yosemite Valley to see Glacier Point. It is breathtaking. You can see Yosemite Valley in its entirety as well as Vernal and Nevada Falls. Seeing the sunset from Glacier Point or nearby Sentinel Dome is not to be missed ! Come on a night in mid August and watch the Perseid meteor shower for a truly fantastic show or any night to stargaze. It is a beautiful place to see the valley and some of the Yosemite backcountry.

Visited this place with family and sunset was a sight never seen ever how the part of giant mountains get covered in golden glow is just amazing.

Getting up to Glacier Point is a bit of a driving adventure in itself, but if a visitor can handle the 12 miles or so of tight and winding roads, and find an open parking slot, the reward is a superb view over the eastern part of Yosemite Valley.
We made the trip on an overcast Wednesday in mid-October, and it was still a breath-taking view. The clouds may have been heavy, but every now and then, a bit of sunshine would peek through between us and the horizon, yielding an ever-changing play of light on the granite sides of the valley.
Half Dome, of course, dominates the view to the east. But be sure to look north where one can see, far below, the Ahwahnee Lodge, and Yosemite Village and the towering cliffs of the valley's north face behind them.
There is no additional fee to visit Glacier Point beyond general admission to the national park itself. The parking lot there at the point is sizeable, but we found it still got pretty full mid-day on a cloudy Wednesday. It is built in the form of a loop, so it is possible to circle the lot to watch for freshly-open spots, if need be. There are public restrooms at the point. There also appears to be a retail shop of some sort, but that was closed during our visit (possibly it's only open during the summer).
While walking the paths, watch for the grey and silver squirrels that live in the area and can often be seen scampering around on the ground.

Definitely worth a visit ! Scenic views and good hiking trails. I think it's beatiful every season but autumn colours made it special this time. Didn't see any bears but need to be avare, considering carrying food with you if vamping.

We were able to visit Glacier point last week when the weather improved enough that the road to Glacier point opened on our final day in Yosemite. We loved it!

The drive up is a little bit much. Narrow roads with some areas were the Sides drop off. Also some serious windy roads. Still it’s worth it. It’s a beautiful drive up. The views from Glacier Point and just the massiveness of the area you are looking across at and the valley down. The temps dropped 10 degrees on the drive up. You can see a few of the well known areas as well as a few waterfalls. Probably in the Spring there would be more waterfalls visible from there. Worth the time to drive to the point.

The views from the glacier point are excellent. We had been advised to reach there around sunset and it was lovely. The road is a little winding in the last 10-12 miles with an accent. The point is situated at approx 7500 feet.

The place with the most famous picture views from this national park. The valley and the hills around are breathtaking and it's surely worthy to stop by here to look around.
It takes few hours of driving to get to the top, especially from Yosemite Valley. Since there is a big elevation different, prepare that it's quite chilly here, even though it might be very warm in the valley. Bring some hoodie with long sleeves or a puffer jacket with you. I also appreciated closed shoes.
The parking lot at this place is big and there are dry toilets.

It’s closed from Nov to May, thus I have never visited here yet. It’s indeed, the #1 must visit spit because it provides the aerial bird view from the above to all valley and many landmarks. The spectacular view of the falls is second to none. Standing up here to let you refresh your spirit, your mind. It’s kind of taking a mental shower to wash away all the dirts from the civilization. Actually, the air is fresh and full of Phytoncide to boost your physical body. All the surrounding natural beauties meditating your spirit. You sort of have a brand new body and mind once you completed the visit. Strongly recommended anyone who comes to Yosemite to come up here via car or hiking trail.

The bus tour wasn’t operating yet and the Four Mile Trail wasn’t open yet so we drove up. Fortunately the road was open the week we were there. We went early in the morning around 8, and there were very few people. The view is absolutely spectacular! Be sure to walk to the end. It was truly one of the most beautiful sights we have ever seen. I would imagine it’s extremely crowded in the summer.

The view here is incredible. I had to force myself to get out of the way in order for others to get up close to take a look.
Seeing the rainbow from the spray hitting the ground from the waterfall was amazing.
The drive of is full of very lovely views as well.
The road curves a lot on the way up so keep that in mind if you're prone to car sickness. I felt a bit queasy by the time I got to the top.
The restrooms however were awful, with used toilet paper and worse on the floor. They are obviously not serviced often and are in need of not only cleaning but emptying.

Just such a fantastic place with fantastic views. It’s a bit of a drive up there, but well worth it. Haven’t ever seen scenery like
It.
Only minor issue was the toilets - they need servicing and cleaning more often!

We went there on a Saturday day and the road there is a long slow crawl to the point until you reach the parking area which you might have to wait hours to get a spot but once you are there the view is breathtaking Half Dome YOSemite falls and El Capitan

It's been probably 20 years since I was last at Glacier Point and it's as amazing as I remember it. I was last here "pre-kids" with my wife when we were first married and finally got around to bringing the boys to see Yosemite National and, of course, Glacier Point. This is a well reviewed attraction so, instead, here's some logistical items that might make the visit more enjoyable:
1. Depending upon where you're coming from, this will be a long drive - check your GPS and plan accordingly.
2. Services are minimal. Get gas for your car before you start. Bring snacks and drinks. I would turn this into a picnic location.
3. Take your time and make the journey part of the adventure. Yosemite has much to see and don't race around from point to point. Stop along the way and enjoy this trip. FWIW, I would use this as your first stop and then work your way through other stops on your way back to your base camp.
4. Camera/Phone is a MUST. Definitely take panoramic photos. The view here is awesome.

if this wasn’t the best view I’ve ever seen then I’m not sure what was.....simply breath taking and beautiful. We arrived just before sunset and it was really magical - the only negative is you get the usual selfish people standing on the prime spots taking far too long with their photographs, but guess that’s just one of those things. If you go to Yosemite this is a must do and guess what - It’s Free!!

Yes, we've been here many times. Once I proposed to my now-wife at sunrise. It is one of the most amazing views in the world, up there with the Grand Canyon. What's not to like?
Note: in either 2021 or 2020 the Park Service will close Glacier Point Road (it was postponed from 2020), the only vehicle access, for a year or more in order to renovate it. So go now!

In my opinion, one of the most majestic places on earth. Bring your camera. Limited hiking at the point unless you are prepared to do some heavy descents & subsequent ascents. If you have a really good friend, ask them to drive you to the point and meet them back in the valley. Ha, Ha!

This is a “don’t miss” spot for any Yosemite vacation. The view of the entire valley is breathtaking. Get there early. The parking lot fills up, and one can’t go in until another leaves.

We recommend finishing the day at Glacier Point as it provides an overview of what you have seen up close during the day. The view is spectacular and the gift shop was pretty good as well.

We took a tour from our lodge up to Glacier Point. The views were amazing up there and the ride up was excellent. Our driver also was our guide and she did an excellent job narrating the splendor of this beautiful place.

Great trail for all levels of hikers with stunning views. Combine with Sentinale while you are up there. Take a picnic and enjoy the views!

We put a twist into our visit to Glacier Point.
We parked our car at the start of the hike to Sentinel Dome, hiked to the base of the dome, then up to the peak of the dome.
From there we hiked down to Glacier Point. Each and every one of these viewpoints is scenic beyond words, and each of the trails has its share of unique terrain and interesting twists and turns.
The views of half dome, as well as El Capitan and the rest of the valley as seen from Sentinel dome are magnificent, and then to see half dome from Glacier point takes your breath away.

We went up late at night. It was a little eery because I've never been to Glacier with no one else there. There was no moonlight, and we were able to see the stars with amazing clarity. But we were kind of afraid to stray too far from the car because of whatever wildlife might have been lurking in the woods. Still, it was a great experience. I think I'd rather visit in the summer, though, when even at night there are lots of people (and rangers!) around.

Great place to see a sunset and stars. We took a little picnic with us and really had a wonderful time.

The whole place from the time you arrive is totally mind blowing we absolutely were blown away . Must visit

Kind of a windy access road but once you get their it’s well worth it. Really spectacular views. Short hike to the point.Don’t miss it!

I don't think I'll ever be able to forget how spectacular this natural wonder is. Not to be missed. It is almost as though one can't tear one's eyes away. I've never seen any photo, even Ansel Adams' (which is magnificent) that have done his justice.

Don’t just park and view , take one of the very manageable and well marked trails up the Sentinel dome or another of the iconic spots . There are 2-3 mile hikes in Most directions which all start with a steady incline but generally level off . They offer other stunning views of the fabulous valley wide one from the busier Glacier Point . Both Half Dome and El Capitan can be seen from differing angles and in different lighting through the day on the trails

This is the place to go to get the best view of Half Dome. It’s a spectacular drive up to Glacier Point. Parking is free but limited so go early. It’s the best view of the valley floor and there are lots of trails to walk from here. We walked an easy mile down the 4 mile trail to a fantastic view of El Capitan.
There is a small shop but the cafe is not serving hot drinks or food this season due to water issues. Plenty of space to eat picnics.

We drove up to Glacier Point from our lodge. It was quite a drive, but definitely worth it. The majesty of this place is stunning. I wanted to sit here and stare at the view all day. It is a very short walk from the parking lot making this a perfect thing to do for people of all ages and physique. I would arrive early since there aren’t a lot of parking spots. We arrived at about 1000 and spots were already filling up.

This is a spectacular vantage point of beauty.
You can also walk for a few hours there. The road there is long but worth it.
On the way you can see bears.
In the observation area you can have a picnic

The most Iconic view of the half dome, this is the place
It's quite a big observation area with huge parking and some walking to do
You'll get the most amazing and iconic view of the Half Dome and the whole valley
Take your time and enjoy it

I visited Glacier Point twice during my recent trip to Yosemite and many many times in the past. Glacier Point and its numerous viewpoints were as lovely as always. There were lots of other folks taking in the views, even though it was October.
I still don’t know why everyone queues up for the busiest vault toilets near the entrance of the parking lot, but they do. The vault toilets as the far end of the parking lot had no line and no bad aroma.
The bear lockers that previously were located in parking places have been moved to the center area between the lower lot and the upper lot, accessed from the upper lot. The new locations make a lot more sense.
The snack bar & gift shop were starting to close up for the season. No more ice cream. The microwave was still available.

Breathtaking views. Nice paved path. Large parking lot. Pit toilets that were absolutely disgusting! One had poop all over the seat:(.

Visited tunnel view before Glacier point and would not have believed the former could be surpassed, have seen magnificent scenery all over the world, however if I had to rank this particular view it would be #1.
Follow glacier point road for about 45 minutes, large car park with toilets, then a fairly short walk to the vista point. NOTE I read in literature at the park that the road would enclosed for a large part of 2020 for re-surfacing, worth checking before visiting.

We rolled up here at sunset and it was fantastic! The views out as the sun was setting on a clear day were phenomenal! One of the best views you’ll ever see!
Worth the trip done the road which takes around 45-50 mins.

Go at sunset for the amazing views and stay for the ranger's starry night talk! It is totally worth it.

It is a bit of a ride to get to Glacier point. It took us almost two hours to get to glacier point from the valley. Besides the long trip you most likely stop a few times to see the beautiful sightseeing. Glacier point is beatiful and offers great views.

Nice views along the way, posed with my bike at the last vista point before the actual park. More of the same. Was in wonderment how minuscule the Valley is below...

Another great stop in this majestic park. Parking is just down the road and smart to arrive early to snag a spot. This stop only needs 15 minutes to a half hour to really enjoy. We did this first and then the hike up to Sentinel dome as our second stop close by and it worked out great..

It's really nice that there is an option to hike or drive to this destination as we drove and sandwiched it in between days of long hikes.
The views are absolutely spectacular. We didn't arrive until maybe 10am or so and there was still parking even in a busy late June. Also, there were plenty of restroom facilities, though they are the glorified outhouse style. Worth a hike, drive, stop!

You can spend hours lost in appreciating the views here. The most breathtaking is Half Dome. There is also Liberty Cap, Mt. Starr King and the Yosemite Valley below. We went in the fall, so facilities are water free. If you need a facility with running water in the fall, winter, early spring, plan on using the facilities down in the valley.
The gift shop is open in the peak summer months. There are many trails that branch from here. I wish we had time to explore these.

A must see when visiting Yosemite! Easy paved walk to the overlooks, jaw-dropping scenery. Even in October, we could see a bit of Vernal and Nevada Falls.

Unbelievable experience. So fascinating to see what mother nature can do. We went during the pandemic yet it was still pretty crowded so I can only imagine how many people go during a typical season, therefore try and go during the low season so have a place to yourself

We've been here 20 years ago and it's so nice to come back. They recently re-opened in late July, so we were so lucky to able to come up here.
Your Google Maps will not show this place and will suggested the hiking trail way, which is up north. However, if you search for Badger Pass Ski Are, it's basically the same route. Just drive on Glacier Point Road, until the end of it. Took us about an hour to get up there, because most of the time it's just one way road. They have to do a lot of constructions, so be patient and wait for it.
Come early to get parking, parking lot is very small. We arrived around 7:45AM and there weren't many people yet, when we leave around 9AM the parking lot of getting filled.
We didn't do the Four Mile Trail, since we have little kids, but if we had more time, we would do it. There are restrooms at the parking lot.
The view is breathtaking, you'll have an overview of where exactly all the peaks and mountains are. It's amazing to overlook Half Dome and Yosemite Valley right underneath you. Highly recommend coming up here!

Easily my favorite spot in Yosemite National Park. Such beautiful views that will be remembered forever.
The parking lot is fairly large though can take some time to find a spot.
There is a small store in the area with a gift shop and basic snacks/easy lunches.
Be prepared for a whindy drive.

the trails were easy and the views were awesome. Definitely worth the stop and worth the pictures! If you're lucky (like we were), you may even see a black bear!

HIke can get a little tiring but it's so worth it. Views are spectacular and trail is varied enough not to get bored.

Farther away from Yosemite Valley. Less people to deal with. The road is very narrow and winding. Signs for length of vehicles on the road and a place to unhook at the bottom and the middle. Half dome from the side and above it. Many waterfalls. All the ones you saw driving through the valley you can look down on. You just want to stay all day and look at it. Views of last year's fire throughout. Such a beautiful place.

This is a great look over Yosemite NP from the top. We spent day one exploring the top before we went to valley. The only issue was we had a lot of haze from California fires, but it was kind of clear by afternoon. We had dogs so we were able to bring them on the hike around Glacier Point. We went on weekday. So it was not super busy.

Visited Glacier Point Lookout on our last day in Yosemite on way out in October and lucky we did because the next day there was a dump of snow in the mountains and you couldn’t drive up there. We were on an RV holiday from Australia. My husband thinks it’s the best view he has ever seen . You can see all the key landmarks up there including a great view of Half Dome. I’m into Photography so had fun. It’s a huge area with 270 deg views. Great for Panarama shots. I could see why it’s popular.

This is by far one of the greatest views you can get in Yosemite! Glacier Point over looks the entire valley, and the cherry on the top is undoubtedly the amazing view of Half Dome. The top gives view to many other mountains, waterfalls and the valley floor below. To get to Glacier Point you can hike up the "4 Mile Trail", which is a moderately challenging hike which takes about 2-3 hours. The path is well maintained and easy to follow, and offers stunning views on the way up. This is absolutely a must see if visiting Yosemite!

It’s a good 5 miles up the turning from the main Yosemite road (various stop en-route) but the view is simply breathtaking.
A total view of the park is available from the short walk from the car park. Educational placards tell the process of the geology.
Visitor centre and toilets available.

We live a couple hours away and I am glad to take anyone visiting to Yosemite as I believe it is the most beautiful place in the world! Glacier point is a must. Last time I went my friend and I brought a snack and lawn chairs and took in the beauty. About 20 minutes later we were hurrying to get out of a hail storm. It was so awesome.

Beautiful scenery and photospoints. It was so great, and we had a great time. There's a souvenir shop. The car lines were too long to get to the parking lot to give up, but we went on foot to park at Wishburn Point. It's a long way to walk, so don't give up and you'll see.

This was such a beautiful point where you can so SO much of the park! WE loved this part the most! Make sure you make time to see this while you are there!

We did the hike first to taft point, then here and end up in sentinel dome, it took us just over 3 hours, but it is completely worth it, there are spectacular views everywhere, but I think this point is the one I marvel at the most, the view of the waterfall, half dome, the valley and the snowy mountains in the distance is just amazing.

Everything you hope it’ll be and so much more. The scale of the pace is just incredible. Jaw dropping views everywhere you look.

Beautiful view over the entire Yosemite Park, really worth a visit, reachable by car, there is also a large car park and also a bar.

Waited almost two hours in the car line to get a parking spot - once you're in the line, you can't easily get out so you're kind of stuck. But the view was amazing. We would just go earlier or later to avoid that issue in the future.

Reaching Glacier Point this secret of the mountain is revealed. From Glacier of 10,000 feet above sea level you can view the Village and several falls.

Just wow, stopped here while at Yosemite and it’s a must see. Come early as it fills up fast. You get amazing views of the waterfalls and half dome.

The road a little bit hard. But many places to see before you get Glacier Point. My advise come as early as possible ( we came around 8 am) to get parking spot and not much people around. But view is excellent .You see a half dome and other mountains. you can see all Yosemite Valley.

I've had the pleasure of visiting this place twice now, once at midday and more recently at evening golden hour. The views of Yosemite valley never fail to disappoint at the end of an industrious day of hiking.
We had walked Vernal Fall earlier that day so had fun locating the falls and trail from an eagle's perspective (approx 7000 feet up).
This is a great place for panoramas. We ended the evening with a photo shoot of our rental cars. A friendly German tourist joined us in his red Camaro.
I'd love to come back one day to do some astrophotography!
Note: the actual Glacier Point is to the North of the car park and beyond the Trailside Museum.

Be sure to find time to drive up to Glacier Point for the incredible views. If you are leaving the park to go south, make the trip on your way out of the park. The snack bar has ice cream treats!

Glacier Point certainly makes you appreciate nature and its pristine beauty. I can understand why rock climbers have the Yosemite as the number one on their bucket list. Hours could be spent looking at the views and no doubt you will.

Great perspective on Half Dome and Vernal Falls. Absolute must stop there to see the valley from the top down.

Brilliant, that's all you need to know. Do take care though, quite a bit of uneven walkways, my Queen fell over and injured her knee quite badly. The trip up is some drive, but well worth it. The views are stunning. A simple must whilst in the park. The only issue could be parking - especially as there were large RV's parked over 4/5 car spaces.
Enjoy.

You need to go here whatever it takes. We almost did not have the time to make this drive, but we were extremely glad we were able to squeeze it in on our last day at the park. You do not want to miss the view from here. It is almost surreal.

I recommend starting at the top to start your Yosemite visit. The view makes you speechless and the photos just don’t give it justice!
Driving here is the best way to visit. I don’t recommend the four mile hike up or down if this is your first visit.
You can stay here all day. Nice gift shop and plenty of snack choices.
It will take about an hour to get here from the entrance or from the Valley floor, so get here first in your car rather than using the bus from the valley floor.
Enjoy Gods wonder from up here!

Stunning view - if you have an athletically incline person with your group they can either hike up of down from this high point from the valley floor, It is a 4 mile long trail that goes up 3,000 feet from the valley floor

Walk a paved trail from the parking lot to view Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, El Capitan, Nevada and Vernal Falls and much more. Great photo opportunities and anyone can make the walk to the point. It’s a great spot to start at to see all of the sights you can explore or a spot to end at to recap all of the sites you visited. Glacier Point is a good family picture spot for sure. Touristy though so if you’re looking for a secluded off the beaten path, this isn’t the one you’re looking for.

We were staying at Half dome Village ad wanted to avoid as much traffic as possible, so we waited until the middle of the week and left shortly after lunchtime, with the intention of staying until after sun set. We were there in plenty of time to get a really good parking space. We walked around the entire area( there are a few "stops" up there with different views. We got pictures when we could.
There is a store up there with shirts and other collectible "stuff". We all wanted an ice cream and git one. I am not sure it was worth the price, but it was certainly good. The store closed at 7)
After the ice cream we went to claim a spot where we wanted to sit and watch the sun set. There were lots more people around, but it till was not packed. There were not many clouds so I would not say it was spectacular - but it was certainly worth the drive and the wait. If you have time I would certainly go to this spot - even if you cannot wait for the sunset. The wide open view is amazing!!

We did not have Glacier Point on our agenda for our visit until we met someone on one of the trails who strongly recommended we go. The drive there is a bit challenging but well worth the white knuckles. The view from the panorama trail made it all worthwhile. This was the most spectacular vista I have ever seen!

Gave it a 5, but I'd give it a 10 if that were an option. This is an incredible spot. DO NOT MISS this. The view of the Valley is amazing. It's off the beaten path and have to follow a curvy road to get there but it is worth it!!

Glacier Point was our favorite place this trip. We woke up at 4am for the almost hour drive up from the valley floor to get there at day break. It was absolutely, 100% worth it!!! The sun rising over Half Dome was spectacular!!!!

This was our first view of Yosemite Valley. It is breathtaking. The view of the valley and half dome is awesome. The road to Glacier Point is narrow with hairpin turns. Be aware and drive with caution

Jaw dropping scenes, pictures can’t do it justice. Don’t go over the rail to get a better pic, it’s only a 2000’ drop.
Yes it’s crowded, but so worth it.

Excellent view to soak in the valley down below as well as the out-of-the-world view of many water falls and granite mountains. Best time to visit is summer/early fall if you want to enjoy hiking and site-seeing without the snow. There are AirBnBs are a few lodges within the park premises to stay

Long drive but well worth it ,
Winding roads and not for the faint hearted . , breath taking views and we were lucky to have such beautiful weather

If you have a car, you must make the 50 minute journey to Glacier Point. There are tour buses that you can book to take you from Yosemite Valley Lodge, however, they were booked up a good week in advance when we were there so I would suggest you contact them before you arrive if you want to book a space.
The road to Glacier Point... is harrowing! The roads are narrow, winding and close to the precipice (or at least it felt that way on the journey there sitting in the passenger seat). There was more than one occasion when I closed my eyes... and my husband is a very competent, safe driver. He was just laughing at me! God only knows how the massive tour buses manage this.
There are lots of parking bays at Glacier Point but they fill up really quickly. We went later in the day (perhaps 3pm) and it was full and I believe it gets even busier as sunset approaches. Luckily someone was pulling out as we drove around. There are toilets in portacabins but they are vile so go before your set off and try to hold it until you get back would be my suggestion. There is also a small store there selling drinks, ice creams etc.
The views are just amazing from up here; half dome, whilst it normally looks imposing from the valley floor is at eye level from this height. There's even snow on mountains nearby in the middle of August. Either stay for a while taking in the views or take a 4 mile walk that is sign-posted. We opted for the first so I cannot comment on how strenuous the walk would be.
Definitely one of the highlights of Yosemite NP

Amazing view from Glacier point facing the half dome and parts of yosemite Valley. We went there by car on exciting small curly roads (easy to say the were exciting when sitting in the passenger seat). I would definitely go back if I was ever to visit California again. Ps. My heart melted when seeing those "speeding kills bears" - signs....

As has been sighted previously, the bathroom situation is bad. Also the worst I have ever seen in a public area outside of China. Otherwise, great views and adequate parking when the park has visit limitations in effect.

Drove up to Wilburn and then Glacier Point for sunset. Amazing in every direction. This is a must do if you are in Yosemite. Daytime can be overcrowded but evening was quiet with lots of available parking. I was a little nervous driving down the mountain after dark b/c it was so dark. But there was a string of cars descending so you could see the road just fine.

Glacier Point at about 7000 ft elevation can be reached by car, shuttle bus (but not during the pandemic) or several strenuous hikes from Yosemite Valley.
Even if you can’t walk well, you still get stellar views. If you can hike several miles there are a lot of options on where to go from here. Most people enjoy the short but steep hike to the geology hut. From there you can see the Yosemite Valley floor below, Yosemite Falls in it’s entirety.
From Washburn Point about 1/4 mile before you reach the Glacier Point Parking Lot, you can see the entire length of the mist trail with Vernal and Nevada Falls, and the upper 1/4 of Illilouette Fall. (Here you can get a good view of some of the Panorama Trail, which starts at Glacier Point, and goes past all 3 of these waterfalls, about 8 miles to The Valley below).
The star of Glacier Point is Half Dome. It’s so large and seemingly so close it feels like you can touch it! Photo opps abound.
The Four Mile Trail starts here, going to Yosemite Valley in 4.4 miles and 3,200 ft elevation loss. The first mile is more of a rim trail, and loses/gains only 250 feet. Walk to the point where the switchbacks start, and turn around to retrace your steps. It’s a mile of stellar views of Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, and the Sierra Nevada Mountains - at a fraction of the effort it takes to hike the entire trail.
The road to Glacier Point is not open year round. Check road conditions before going. Wintry conditions or fire can close the road. Generally it’s open end of May through October.
If it’s open during your visit, even if pressed for time, this is a must-do! Bring your lunch and sit on the steps of the amphitheater!

If you have never been here, you must go. Grand, Awesome, Breathtaking, Amazing. Yosemite makes you feel so small. 2nd weekend in September and the crowds and traffic were not bad at all. Bucket list type views here!

Million dollar views of Yosemite Valley, including Half Dome, Yosemite/Vernal/Nevada Falls..,Clouds Rest, El Capitan. It’s all here. Pictures truly don’t do it justice..

After visiting yosemite valley glacier point is even more impressive. Being able to see half dome and many more peaks is amazing. The drive however is long and winding.

Visited here the day after Yosemite Valley so were able to look down on what we had seen the previous day. Arrived early to avoid the crowds so parking was easy. The views were stunning, giving a sense of the enormity of the rocks and mountains. The only drawback was that the toilets were very smelly!

Come while you are still physically capable
This truly is “once in a life time” thing
Sadly we also witness the devastation from a wild fire back in 2017
So come quickly before all these majestic nature being destroyed by man kind

We decided to drive to GlacierPoint at sunset. If you arrive a little earlier than us, then the daily impressions in full sunlight are certainly worth seeing. The Halfdome in the golden light of the evening is already very impressive, as is the entire landscape. It goes without saying that you are not alone here, but it is all spacious enough to have space for yourself and photos. Especially for evenings it is recommended to have extra clothes with you, because you are quite high and it gets fresh.

This attraction/view will truly take your breath away! And, it's accessible via road before you go through Tunnel View. In fact, you may want to take the right turn at the entrance as you are driving in before proceeding further into Yosemite Valley. Once you make the right turn, you'll drive some distance before arriving at this remarkable vista point.
For us, driving up we didn't see much traffic, even with the limited capacity during the coronavirus period. However, once we "arrived" at the vista point and parked, we came upon quite a group of tourists (much like Tunnel View). One can only imagine what it must be like during "normal" park periods.
We were able to find a parking spot right away. Walking from there to the vista point is only a relatively short distance. You'll see Half Dome standing out first, and some helpful signage along the sidewalk area, including restrooms.
Have your photography equipment ready and loaded because you will want to take many shots of this area. Whether it's phone camera or regular camera, be prepared to take multiple shots to capture it all. Take your time to take in the beauty and majesty of this natural wonder. Even in mid-summer, you will find several of the falls still flowing if you look close enough. We found both Nevada and Vernal Falls with water flowing. That made up for missing Yosemite Falls water flowing.
You may also wish to take the walking/hiking paths that permeate the perimeter of Glacier Point. There's a very famous vantage point that Ansel Adams made famous nearby.
This is a "CAN'T MISS" part of the Yosemite Park experience. So, get up there.

If one cannot climb the famed Half-Dome in Yosemite, then they ought to do the Glacier Point viewing area. This is a short walk from the car-park and gives amazing views of the Yosemite Valley, Half-Dome and Bridalveil Falls. It's just a photographer's delight. Would highly recommend this spot during sunset. Carry a jacket even in June as people from warmer climates not used to the cold can get a bit cold.

Sandwiched between the 2020 Park closures (Wawona Hotel) and the planned closure of GP Road in 2022, this was the ideal time in 2021 to reach the Point. My jaw dropped. Like the Northern Rim of the Grand Canyon or Observation Point in Zion - this is an awe-inspiring perspective of treasured landscapes of the USA. Get here if you can. Your soul will thank you.

Glacier Point is only open briefly in the summer between late July to August. And you probably need to be there before 10:00 am and enter the valley from the South entrance to beat the crowd to get a parking space. Thus, usually, people don't get to see this magnificent panorama view on the Yosemite Valley on their first trip unless they drive their own car, camping inside Yosemite, and have a local friend that shows you the way. So if you have a chance to visit the Glacier Point, consider you have visited Yosemite's most iconic limited edition scenery spot that most people don't get a chance to visit. Oh! this is also the spot where John Muir and President Teddy Roosevelt camped during their 3-day camping trip.

Definitely worth the extra drive from the main valley. You get a whole different prospective of the size of the national park and the views are amazing. I can see parking being an issue at high season but eventually you will get spot as people come and go pretty frequently.

Such a gorgeous view, really there are no words to describe it. You really see everything from here and you know what makes the view even better? Watching the sunrise here.
My fiance and I were jetlagged so we decided to drive here at 6am to watch the sunrise and it did not disappoint. Not only was it gorgeous, we were the only ones there! We ended up staying for almost 3 hours just because we loved the view so much.
Another reason to convince you to visit? Just as we were about to leave, a couple in formal attire arrived with a photographer and an officiator. They were getting married with Glacier Point as their view! If they got up early and the bride, in her gown and heels, walked all the way up just have this view as they exchanged vows, you know this place is worth visiting.

very nice spot to drive up for views from the top, was hazy from wildfires in end of august 2020 but this is a must do and was still amazing especially nice form the amphitheater spot and can even see a waterfall from washburn point. do it now for they say itll be closed for a bit for new roads next year.

I would consider Glacier Point to be a "must do" if visiting Yosemite. The sun is best early in the day (we were there at 9AM or so) and before the crowds arrive and the parking lots fill up. We spent 30-40 minutes there but I'd think 90 minutes might be a better time commitment. There are short hiking trails and many spots to just sit and drink-in the marvelous views of Yosemite's mountains and the valley far below.

That place has some wonderful views. I recommend you guys go out there and go see it. The best part about it is whenever you guys go and check out the less busiest times would be the greatest

This is a long drive, but short hike (0.25 miles) to great views of the valley, especially the Yosemite Falls and Half-Dome. Tie it in with some other hikes along the road (e.g. Sentinel and Taft) for great views all day.

in my opinion this was the highlight of our road trip to Yosemite. It offered a great view of the valley with all the sights. there was a reasonably amount of parking and the store actually had ice cream which everyone was buying since it was in the high 80's to mid 90's.

This is the most amaizing view of half dome and yosemite valley from 8000 feet. If you were gong to go only once place int he park this is the place to go. Go at sunset to see half domb turn a deep orange. It is worth the drive.

Absolutely sublime point of view. Practical parking but lots of people. Try to go for the sunset, it’s magical. On the other hand no possibility of dining on site or nearby and far from everything (well that is what makes it charming!)

this is definitely worth seeing! i was told about this ride by a local. otherwise i wouldn't have known about that. i came there on a bus and descended by foot. it was really really nice day, though the trail is steep.

Yosemite speaks for itself. It’s unlike any place on earth and jaw dropping. You can ride up to Glacier Point or hike up to it like we did on the Four Mile Trail. There’s a snack bar, gift shop, and restrooms at the top. It’s best to get there before 10:00 a.m. if you’re driving because the parking lot fills up quickly. There’s an easy paved walk once you get up there with spectacular views.

It has been man years since I have visited here and it was just a wonderful as I expected. Had friends visiting from the U.K. and they loved it.

The view from here is amazing but it can be quite crowded - try to go as early in the morning as you can. If you get there a little later, don't despair if it seems like there is no parking - if you continue on through the lower lot there is likely to still be parking in the upper lot. Just be prepared to share this beautiful viewpoint with a couple of hundred of you not so close friends. It does take quite some time to drive here from the Yosemite Valley - maybe as long as an hour depending on where you are staying and what traffic is like. The road up is not for the fainthearted, it is very narrow and winding with steep drop-offs in several places and will probably have quite a bit of traffic due to the popularity of this spot.

There were amazing views of Yosemite National Park. I loved it!The tour guide provided interesting perspective—historical and geological. We received insights that enhanced the views. Honestly, I was a little disappointed that the tour was in a bus. So much of Yosemite is looking up—you cannot see through a bus roof! Now, I understand that a trolley that provides unlimited views was impractical due to time constraints. Just something to know ahead of time! If you have limited time—I definitely recommend this tour. Glacier Point and its vistas were breathtaking.

This is great place to get an overview of the Yosemite Park. Be ready to see a full parking lot since everybody seems to stop here. Still worth it thought.

The best overall view of Yosemite Valley. It was a beautiful day which made for great photos from glacier point. The drive is about one hour from the valley floor through winding roads, at times scary. One of the few times in life where the experience exceeds the hype.

It's a long drive to reach this place from the visitor's centre, but it's worth it. The views are stunning and span over the most spectacular part of the park.

WE visited Glacier Point the first week of November. A spectacular dayt, amazing views, and no crowds.

A very popular and crowded overlook into Yosemite Valley and an easy way to see many of features of Yosemite including Yosemite Falls, Half Dome, North Dome, Vernal and Nevada Falls, the Ahwanee Hotel, Yosemite Village, and the Merced River. If you have spent time seeing the sights of the valley, this is a good overview to see everything in context to the general landscape. If you have done any of the hikes to the falls or along the valley rim, it is easy to spot the places you have been.
This is the place to go to show first time visitors what Yosemite has to offer.
It takes a bit of time to drive to Glacier Point and a short walk to the viewing points (wheelchair accessible). In summer months the crowds begin early and parking can become a problem, so be prepared. There is drinking water available and there is a gift store where you can also purchase drinks and ice cream.
One last bit of news. It was recently reported that in 2021 the park will be closing down Glacier Point Road for major renovations. For that work period, the only way to get to Glacier Point will be by way of hiking up the Four Mile Trail from Sentinel Beach (this is actually a great day hike for those in shape). But you will not otherwise be able to access Glacier Point, Taft Point, or Sentinal Dome during the construction period.

For the grand view of the valley including several waterfalls and half dome across the valey. This is the spot to go, make sure you have gas in the tank to get there and back. It is an isolated point.

We drove up here from Fish Camp and so glad we did . The view was amazing and the roar of the waterfalls can be clearly heard .
Take the time and park your car and take a walk around here , it’s gorgeous seeing snow capped mountains, waterfalls running and valley floor .

A must see for everyone visiting Yosemite!! The views from up here are spectacular and accessible for everyone no matter of fitness or disabilities as the car park is right next to them and the path is smooth and wide. There’s heaps of space for everyone to get a perfect view particularly at sunset which it does get busy at. If you want to see the sunset in the best spot or pats to get up there an hour before hand.
There is a shop there too that sells sandwiches, ice creams other basic foods and gifts. There are also several toilet blocks in the car parking area but don’t expect much as they are just long drop loos.

This is a magic place. The view is astonishing, almost hypnotic. I had a chance of seeing it during the day and during the night with the full moon. The full moon illuminates the rocks and you can see the mountains even after midnight. The access by car is closed during the winter and it takes many kilometers if you want to walk there.

We took the 8:30 AM bus up to Glacier Point reserved through TravelYosemite. Hiked down the 4 mile trail. Highly recommend the bus ride up and the hike down as I don’t think I could have managed the 9 miles up and down. Spectacular views at Glacier Point and throughout the hike. There is a nice visitors center at the Point with snacks and souvenirs.

Not as crowded after end of August. Kids back to school in California. Still warm 28 Celsius but nice cool breeze. Very winding road to get to the top of Glacier point. Drive carefully.
Great to stay at the lodge as you can walk to the falls in the mornings and have it all to yourself. Shuttle bus is great to get around and not busy. Eatery not busy as well. Meadow hike in the morning is wonderful. Did Bridal veil falls and Artist Point hike in the afternoon to get a good photo of Tunnel view but did not go all the way to the end of hike as it was too hot. Drove to Mariposa to see the giant Sequioas and after to Glacier point. Try and stay for the sunset and night sky. Great day trip.

The views up there are fantastic! Postcard perfect! And there is handicapped accessibility, and a store.

At Glacier Point, you are about 4,000' above Curry Village. You look directly across to Half Dome and get good views of the major waterfalls in the valley. There is a gift shop which sells some premade sandwiches. What's even greater is that it's a short walk to the viewing area. I have some mobility issues and I had no problem walking there. But PLEASE, observe the "Do Not Enter" signs; it's a LOOOONG way to the bottom!

Well it’s a bit of a demanding drive to this location, on some very winding roads with steep drops to the side, but it is an attraction well worth a visit. Taking advice we went early, because the car park does fill up and it can be quite frustrating to drive round waiting for a space. The location is just stunning and the views spectacular, the photo opportunities are almost endless. Yosemite is a National Park and as such there are charges for admission, but once purchased it will last you a week. Best to research this on the Internet so you are aware before going. At Glacier Point there are a number of chemical toilets, which are just about OK and as the day goes on they can become quite smelly and sometimes are without paper; so go equipped. Final point there is a Gift Shop and information Centre at this location. We decided to purchase 2 sandwiches and a bag of crisps for lunch. At a cost of almost $20 they were decidedly the worst we had eaten. Our filling of ham and cheese was inside a Pitta Bread; it was dry, tasted like cardboard and was singularly unappetising, we threw half of the sandwiches away. The negativity is overwhelmed by the Glaciers and sculptured landscape set out in front of you. Wonderful and the highlight of our trip to California.

A windy hours drive up & a nightmare to park because everyone tries to get into the first parking area when there are loads of spaces in the second area.
However, get over that obstacle & the views are magnificent, probably the best in the park. So glad we persevered.

You have the best view on the half dome from there and in general the upper valley.
The view on the waterfall depends on the season, as you can see there was no waterfall in October.

Great vantage point on Yosemite National Park, with options for different hiking trails. The sight of the park cliffs ('Half Dome', El Capitan' and more), the falls ('Nevada' ans 'vernal') and the Yosemite Valley are simply breathtaking. A must visit!!!

It's relatively far, but it has to go. Best view of the park, undoubtedly. And look, the park has many viewers.

If you’re like me and are not in the physical shape to hike to the top of El Cap or Half Dome this is probably the best view in Yosemite. And it definitely is better than the Tunnel View. 7,200 feet in elevation and I think around 4,000 to the valley floor. Overlooking the whole valley and surrounding mountains was incredible.

Beautiful views into the valley and Sierra Nevadas. We could see Yosemite Falls, Vernal Falls, and Nevada Falls. Lovely dizzying views for those afraid of heights. For the adventurous type this is truly amazing

The views are breathtaking and inspirational...Highly recommend the taking the time to make the drive...it is a bit windy so be careful if you get car sick...

Glacier Point is not to be missed. We missed it the first time due to snow but barely got a cleared road this time. I am so glad we did. The views were incredible. Some of the most amazing view points in the country are on this road.

Really great place to visit
It's wonderful place to see a national park
Visited in summer with family elders

During my trip to Yosemite, I woke up early 2 mornings to catch the sunrise at Glacier Point. It is honestly, the most beautiful sunrise I've ever witnessed. It's a far drive, but it's worth it! It's also a little chilly up there because it's up at a high altitude, so bring warmer clothes or wear layers.

Utterly spectacular views - the main views look east so bear that in mind as the sun will be in the east in the morning.
On the more practical side, there was a short 5 minute delay due to construction works on the road up but still made it in under an hour from the valley, there is a shop up at top, toilets and a fountain to refill water bottles.

Definitely must be a stop on your visit to Yosemite.
Even if you dont do the trails walk up to the view points and the amphitheatre the view is stunning

We drove right to glacier point upon arrival to the park. The drive is very windy and if you are prone to car sickness you may have some trouble but the end result will be worth it. There are lots of places to pull over and take a break and snap a few pictures along the way. There are bathrooms and a store at the top of the mountain. The sites are just beautiful. Pictures can’t do it justice. You need to go here even if you can only fit in time for one thing at Yosemite.

We thought we would hike from Sentinel Dome to Glacier point but there is still snow on the ground. The park service recommended not doing the hike because it is difficult to find the trail and markers.
So, we drove to a Glacier Point and found parking. There was snow around and above the parking lot but not on the trails for the overlooks. Wow, the view was stunning!
If you have never been here it’s worth the trip. Last time we came, about 4 years ago, it was so smoky, you could hardly see Half Dome.

We took the glacier point tour bus from Yosemite valley to glacier point. Once up on the point it is quite a spectacular sight. You can see half dome, El Capitan and others. Highly recommend this place

Beautiful drive up... amazing views-- go off season if you can.. loads of tourists.. good shop at top for snacks.

The views are stunning at Glacier Point. One can realize the majesty of nature here. Would love to return this summer to more exploring.

One can see the entire valley & all snow peaks from this point, provided it is open & accessible. All facilities including rest rooms are there at entry. Adequate parking also available.

Wrap up your visit with a Glacier Point drive. We drove in over Tioga Pass to see Half Dome from the rear, we enjoyed touring through the valley floor, and then the drive up, via Tunnel View, and to the points. I recommend Glacier Point either in the morning or evening, unless it's an extremely crystal clear day. Midday haze lessens clarity for photos. I think pre-sunset may be best for photographers. Be careful though, as Yosemite Falls, at the actual Glacier Point view, is hidden in shadow earlier than sunset.

We went to watch the sunrise and it was certainly one of the most beautiful of my life! What an AMAZING experience! If you can, arrive early to get a good place to relax and watch the show from a box.

Makes you realize the incredible beauty of our earth!!! Unbelievable view, well worth the drive up teh mountain!!

It's a long drive from SF but well worth it. Took many photos of the valley and half dome. Drive up was windy but not too difficult

The drive to Glacier Point is filled with lovely views but Wow! When you get to Glacier Point it will absolutely blow you away!!!
We went here the day after being in the Valley by Yosemite Village and really liked looking down and saying" Did we really walk there yesterday?"
We went early and it is well worth it because i would think it gets incredibly busy. A view like that is best seen when it's peaceful and you can take as many photos as you like with no obstruction.
You will not be disappointed!
Suggestion for visit- just be aware the toilets are just how you would expect in the middle of nowhere, make sure you take some hand gel!
Other than that perfect!

If you see only one place at Yosemite National Park see Glacier Point. The view is amazing especially at sunset. It is an hour drive from the valley floor and worth every minute.

Anyone who has a challenge with walking and still want to get a good overview of the Valley, then take the car to Glacier point. The view is astonishing, and the drive to it is also scenic; definitely recommend to add this to your Yosemite trip.

Awesome. Amazing. Splendid. Magnificent. Fantastic. Gorgeous. Great. Unique. Wow. Superwow. Needcto say more?

Get away from everyone in the Valley and get some great photos and views down into the Valley. Parking lot fills up in the late afternoon. Easy walk. Make sure you stop along the highway before you get their, and check out the parking lot with a fantastic view of falls across the Park.

45 minute drive from the valley floor. Freezing cold and lots of snow still there. Wheel chair access. About 1/4 mile walk to the scenic overlook.

As usual, parking at Glacier Point is not easy. Folks stop at the entrance to the lot and wait for a close parking space. At 11 am, it took 7 or 8 minutes to get a chance to drive around the parking lot to the upper level where there were several spots available.
No one was waiting to use an outhouse at the far end of the parking lot. The facilities closer to the parking lot entrance had a line of at least eight people.
Views of Half Dome from Glacier Point were excellent, as always.

This is so amazing place. The jewel of Yosemite National Park. Definitely worth long drive. Stunning, breathtaking views. You can feel the power of nature.

Amazing view of Half Dome! There was a thunderstorm coming through when we were up here and it made it all the more beautiful and exciting (and a little scary since we were up so high!). Several different areas to get good views (there's a waterfall too),and a small gift shop with ice cream treats.

The hike was simple and we saw several people of all ages making the trip up to the point. See our pictures below! We had a blast and it's worth the stop!

After a 12.5miles/20Kms hike the day before we decided to drive that day to the Glacier point to enjoy the view. We were there very early as the ranger told us on the weekends that 6000 places car park is full by 9:30am. That view is a must see. We could see the falls we hiked the day before and realise how high we actually climbed. The view is so impressive.

It's a bit of a ride up the narrow winding road to Glacier point but totally worth the drive. The views are stunning, almost magical. This is a must not miss when visiting the park.

We drove up, being off peak found parking quite easily.
We spent a while taking pictures and then hiked down to near the valley floor, 3 hours down 2 hours up and we saw a bear on our path. A little scary as we weren’t sure what to do, had to hide in the bush and wait for it to pass!
Toilets up at the top of the point and a small gift shop. Recommend taking your own food in all parks as the choice isn’t great, it’s expensive and it’s really nice to have a picnic everywhere, plenty of scenic spots!
We bought the America the beautiful parks pass which worked well seeing as we visited more than 2 parks.

THE BEST VIEWPOINT!
So yes, the valley is beautiful, the view from the tunnel too, but from here you embrace all the beauty of this national park
And there are also plenty of hikes/trails to do from this place
Of which: Taft Point!!!!

Glacier Point is not on the main Yosemite Valley shuttle route and one needs to take a different route from bridalveil falls junction. Views are truly spectacular from this point and it is well worth the drive. The temperature can fall a lot after sunset and therefore don't forget to carry a jacket or windcheater. Parking can be a bit of a challenge during the main tourist seasons and you may need to walk a little to reach the point

Stayed in Yosemite West for 3 days at the start of August. drove up to Glacier Point on the Saturday, arrived about 9am and had no trouble parking.
Oh my goodness, I was not prepared for the incredible views. It felt like we were looking at a painting, it was amazing.
There is more to see up there than I thought and we spent a wonderful couple of hours simply staring at the spectacle in front of us.
An absolute must if you are visiting Yosemite.

Excellent views, all paved walkways, limited parking, bathrooms, concessions. Store closed for season.

I had not been in Yosemite for years, so I went with my friends from Germany to visit again. It is so amazing to see what beauty has been placed right here in our backyard, California. We stood at this same spot and looked at what the Ice-Age created. No civilization anywhere. I recommend to go there in the off season because of the crowd in summer.

We'd booked this tour before we visited in case it sold out . The driver talked about the area etc on the way up and she was very interesting . The roads at certain points are very narrow , looking down was quite scary at times ! At the top the view was worth the trip , didn't actually have too long up there. Long queue for drinks etc so no time to wait. Take your own water and a snack if you'll need one . Some people were walking about 4 miles back down, we got back on the bus !

Went to Yosemite on a short vacation with my wife. Beautiful had to say one of spectacular view of nature if you are in California you have to visit Yosemite you will not be disappointed.

On one hand, I look at the current ranking of #1 thing to do in Yosemite and am not sure I agree (just walking around the valley is great). On the other hand, I can't give it anything but a 5/5. The views are outstanding. There's a little store to buy popsicles and ice cream, there are restrooms.... It's a long drive from the valley floor, but totally worth it.

If you are arriving early to visit Yosemite Valley and Glacier Point, I would suggest to visit Glacier Point first as there could be a long line down a two lane road to get into the parking lot later in the day. You can get a view of Yosemite Valley, Vernal Falls, Half Dome and Yosemite Falls. A very short walk to the view point, but there are other view points along the short trail. BTW, ice cream was the hot item during my visit at the gift and snack stand.

One of the greatest views of anywhere let alone in Yosemite park. breath-taking........................................................watch for the traffic in/out - checking timings - avoid weekends

One of the best viewing points in the US and probably in the world. Don't let the 16 miles / 30 minutes detour preventing you from taking this beautiful road to enjoy the most amazing view of Yosemite Valley, it waterfalls and the surrounding mountains.
Try to get there before 11am as parking is limited.

Glacier Point, so majestically high above the crowds of the valley, was a favorite spot for our family. So much so we traveled the long mountain road more times than I can count to be there at different times of day. The kids enjoyed some mild bouldering and the snack bar.

Beautiful! Amazing view of the valley below. You can see half dome really well from here. Parking is very limited even in August!

WE booked a tour to Glacier Point. Our driver and guide, Collette was very knoweldgeable and entertaining at times!! Great views at the point - we took a picnic but only just had enough time to eat our picnic and explore the point before the coach trip back down.

If you are looking for stunning views that do not require a hike, Glacier Point is for you. It's a bit of a drive to this part of the park (and lots of elevation gain), but it's worth it for the view. This is perfect for folks that aren't super mobile or don't like to hike; they can get the great views without the effort.
My personal feeling is that the views are vastly better from the top of Sentinel Dome and also from the top of Nevada Falls, but those require some hiking and climbing stairs, so if you're not up for those, this is your place! Heck, even if you've done this and would like a slightly different perspective or some easy access to the views, stopping at Glacier Point is well worth it! We did those other hikes and then did this. We still greatly enjoyed it!

Great views of major sites in four hour bus tour. One 45 minute stop at Glacier made the rather long bus trip well worth it. Easy ticket purchase and clear directions. Beautiful scenery along the climb up and down (additional 5 minute step on the way back at falls). Learned much from the knowledgeable guide but driver lecture including politics and religion overbearing. Also some strong narrative seemed like marketing the park when the park itself does the job itself. Drive is quite challenging and one felt safe in a park vehicle. We would opt to walk down on the 4 mile trail if we repeat. When leaving the park, stopped at El Capitan and could see the climbers (barefly with binoculars). Volume of visitors relatively low on a Thursday, fewer than we experienced at other national parks, making the day more enjoyable.

We were lucky to visit Glacier Point, as we were there on opening day of the season. Drive was really amazing. There was snow on both side of the road. We didn't get a very good view of half dome as it was partially covered with clouds. But overall it was a beautiful view. Place was little crowded. We had to wait for a while for parking.

We were in Yosemite this past May & the road to Glacier was closed for snow. So this time in October it was open & well worth the drive. Fantastic view of the valley & granite cliffs

I did not want to drive up the Glacier Point from the valley - staying at the Y Valley Lodge and the bus was sold out. I purchased two tickets to the star night tour at the activities desk in the lodge lobby. OMGOSH this was a highlight of my trip. The charter tour bus picked us up at the door of the Y Valley Lodge before 7 I think and were only 2 of 8 people on the bus. It is an hour drive so they showed a PBS Yosemite movie on the ride up. Great. Luckily we dressed warm because it got cold quickly as the sun dropped. WEAR hats, fleece, gloves.. take a blanket and something to sit on - granite gets cold to sit on! as the sun sets you have time to enjoy the view and explore. once it begins getting dark everyone moves over to the amphitheater seating. Corey the ranger who gives the star class was fantastic. He has lived in the park for 12 years. Has a laser pointer sharing his knowledge of the constellations that are so bright to you up there.
Glacier Pt offers the most beautiful views of the entire valley. I am so thankful we went. NO WAY would I have driven up there and been able to handle my nerves going back in the dark. It is worth paying the pros to drive you and your kids safely around the park

Sure you can drive here and get amazing views, but there are better views to be had on Sentinel Dome (a very short, relatively easy hike with a short climb at the end) or Panorama Trail (heading from Glacier Point to Nevada Falls). If your group can do the hikes, the best thing about Glacier Point is to make it a stop on a longer hike to take a break and grab an ice cream!

This is a must see! Arrive early because there is a limited number of parking spots. On a higher level you can find more parking spots so drive around the hoop.

best part of the trip to yosemite, absolutley amazing but the road is winding and narrow and almost no parking by 10 am.
Worth the scary drive up the mountain
The best view of half dome in my opinion as well as the valley below. I hate heights, so I sat in the back and read a magazine so I aptly distracted from the edge of your seat drive up and down the mountain to reach Glacier Point.
