1 of 164 Best Attractions in Yellowstone National Park

Beautiful views especially with the fall colors. Lots of places to stop and look. Check out the inspiration point and artists points especially. Not too crowded for the shoulder season, was able to find parking easily, even near the end of the day.

We had to choose between Old Faithful and the Grand Canyon. We came here and were glad we did. Check out the upper and lower falls.

My favorite part of Yellowstone are the geysers and hot spring pools. But this comes next. It is magnificent. Easy to drive and take pictures at lookout points. The more adventurous may hike more. It really is beautiful.

When you visit Yellowstone this is a must place to visit. Most popular place to see and is seen in may posters and pictures.

I never knew this place existed maybe that is why I was so taken aback by the views. Make sure to hike the path down to the threshold of the falls as it is not only a great photo opportunity but you can really get a feel for the power of the river/falls. Beautiful overlooks on both sides and I highly recommend stopping at as many as you have time for.

Loved Artist Point, Inspiration Point and all the easy access views . Be aware that the South rim trail does involve some narrow hikes above a Grand Canyon, that can seem a little precarious.

I highly recommend doing the south rim trail to see the Yellowstone river, waterfalls and grand canyon. It's such a beautiful and powerful river that it makes seeing the canyon even greater.

Its not just about the view of the canyon, its the waterfall, trees, and canyon panoramic view. So many great photos!

I had no idea about this place before visiting - it is so so beautiful and in my opinion better than the Gran Canyon itself

It's on the opposite side of the park as most of the main geysers and springs, but it also offers some amazing views and photo opportunities. You can walk some trails near Canyon Village and there are a few pull offs from the road to explore.

My wife and I spent most of the day exploring various trails in this area. It was a fairly cold day with snow flurries, so we didn't do as much hiking as we would have liked. But both the upper and lower falls are spectacular and the colors in the canyon are beautiful. You could easily spend a whole day or more in this area of the park. It is a must see.

One of the best views in all of Yellowstone. Parking is also not impossible to find which is nice. Skip the Lower Brink lookout and go directly to Lookout Point for the best view.

Absolutely spectacular!! The colors are truly amazing. This was one of my favorite attractions in all of Yellowstone!

This was one of our favorite stops along the way. Beautiful views from the upper rim and you can hike down to get closer to the falls. Definitely a must see in Yellowstone!

We stayed at the Canyon Lodge so Grand Canyon of the YS is a short drive a way. We walked on a
short but strenuous Uncle Tom’s Trail leading to Artist Point. Beautiful view of the fall although we walked thru snow and light rain in late June (6/30/2020).
Next time we will spend more time at Artist Point and the other part of the Fall.

Other than viewing all the wild animals, i would say this is the highlight of the park. great views from all the pulloffs. Spend the day and enjoy !!!

My wife and I visited the canyon during a 3.5-day exploration of the park. Prior to arriving in the park, we had read that the "best" way to see the canyon was to start at Artist's Point on the south rim followed by the Upper Falls View, then the brink of the Upper Falls on the north rim followed by the brink of the Lower Falls, Lookout Point, Red Rock Point, Grand View and finally Inspiration Point. That's the order we followed except we elected not to do the hike down to Red Rock Point.
The scenery at every point we hit was spectacular. Now, anyone who has been to Grand Canyon National Park knows that Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone isn't quite as "grand." They are at completely different scales. Nevertheless, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is magnificent in its own right. You should expect to spend a few hours if not the better part of a day taking it all in.

The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is one of the most breathtaking places in the entire park — a spot that truly stops you in your tracks. The colors alone feel impossible: golden cliffs, deep greens, and that bright ribbon of turquoise water slicing through the canyon.
Artist Point gives you an unreal view of Lower Falls — wide, open, and unobstructed. The canyon stretches out in both directions, and the roar of the waterfall echoes through the walls. If there’s one place that makes you say, “Yep… this is Yellowstone,” it’s here.
The whole area is easy to explore with short walks, multiple viewpoints, and plenty of places to just stand and soak it all in. Even during busy hours, the viewpoints never feel as overwhelming as Old Faithful — there’s space to breathe and enjoy the scenery.

There are so many places to take in spectacular views of this canyon. You can take a strenuous hike to reach some points but in other cases a modest walk.

Such an amazing view. I honestly thought it was nicer than the actual Grand Canyon. We only had a few hours in the park and was going to skip this, so glad we didn’t.

The waterfall was awesome as well as the stream flowing between the rock formation walls. Beautiful place. Worth the effort.

Absolutely beautiful. Any picture you have seen does not do this place justice. An absolute must do. We drove the rims and stopped at the attractions. Would recommend going early during busy times.

not a far walk to see the fabulous views. Very lovely and photographic as well. Parking can get crowded but you may choose to go earlier in the day

Kinda trash ngl, big rock boohoo.
Oh look its a water spewing out of a cliff1!!!! Isn’t that cooool??? 🤓

This was one of our favorite sites to see, and we went on 2 different days as the sky and clouds were different each day. Plenty of places to get pictures from different perspectives.

I was struck by just how the geology here creates some of the most interesting scenery in Yellowstone NP. From the falls to the hoo doos there is so much color here.
Our experience began on the north side of the canyon where there are fewer visitors. A switchback trail takes one down around 600 feet to catch a view of the falls. You do need to remember though that, at 8000ft in elevation, the climb back up should be done slowly to respect the lower oxygen levels (unless, of course, you're acclimatized to these altitudes).
While the number of visitors on this side of the canyon are fewer I'd still recommend getting here early in the day if for no other reason than to catch the morning light on the water. During our visit the skies were starting to fill up with the haze from the forest fires in Oregon and California which created an almost otherworldly color palette to photograph.

We were on a bike vacation and spent a day biking to a half dozen different vantage points of the Grand Canyon. What a great way to spend a day.

Magnificant! We used Wildland Trekking, they take you off the main path...awesome hiking! The scenery changes from waterfalls to geysers that make you feel like you're hiking on the moon...very cool

This is another experience where pictures don't do it justice. There are several angles with which to view the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. From the overlook at the top, the middle, and the base. I suggest viewing it from all vantage points to get the most out of this awesome location! From the flowing waterfalls to the majestic canyon walls, the scene is absolutely breathtaking!

Although I love almost all of YS Park, this part is really spectacular. We arrived early and hiked/drove to many parts of the canyon to get many views. Some of the hikes down are steep so be prepared. The views are breath taking. We spent the entire day going around the rim. Unfortunately Uncle Tom’s staircase was closed. Go earlier during the day as it’s less crowded and gets hotter as the day goes on

This was one of our all time favorites of the trip to see! The falls were beautiful. We had 2 days at Yellowstone and so glad we stopped at the several stopping points in the Canyon. The walk down to the brink of the falls is rough though if you go down remember you have to climb back up!

Lower falls trail is quite difficult coming back up for anyone that doesn’t hike often…I wouldn’t do it again.

One of the top 5 attractions or us. TONS of people and cars. This one is worth the wait. Expect to walk 20 minutes from the car to the site. There is another view just up the road that's less packed.

We were at Yellowstone's Grand Canyon early because we were "supposedly" going on a guided hike. We couldn't find the right parking lot and missed them, so we hiked near the top, overlooking the tall falls. Interesting colors in the rock near the falls. And quite a drop!

A must see for every visitor. Most of the viewing is fairly easy and there are several points to view. There is one trail that is fairly steep but very manageable. The views are stunning. Of course in the spring there is so much water flowing it’s magnificent. The exposed yellow rock is stunning.

Unbelievably beautiful. Breathtaking.
The Waterfalls were amazing and the gorge too. Have to see it, but go EARLY . 7 am or 8 am!!!

Another attraction of the park is this Canyon where you have an exuberant view of the valley with the river running in the background as well as the waterfalls on site.

Spend some time, it's amazingly expansive and beautiful! Be sure to visit Artist's Point & Inspiration Point, and spend time pulling off to explore.

Definitely gives Grand Canyon vibes can be seen from the north rim parking is limited like everything else try to get there as early as possible

I was not expecting to see a Grand Canyon type experience, but that is exactly what I got. WOW...bring your camera because this place is a photographs heaven. If you're a bit squeamish like me due to heights, take a chill pill and just enjoy.

We spent an entire morning going to the various spots around the grand canyon. It was a slight drizzle so we didn't have much of a crowd or problems parking. We explored the South rim first and then finished with the North rim.

The Clear Lake Artist's Point Loop Trail is a good one - it gets you away from the crowds and provides beautiful scenery

Just one of the spectacular places you need to stop and enjoy. Parking was available. We went midday. Crowds for and ebb without any issues.

if you like short trails with big payoffs, going to the Grand canyon of Yellowstone is the place to hike for you, most of the trails I went on were very short and got me to some type of wonderful water feature

The canyon is very gorgeous. The waterfalls and stream add to the beauty of the various lookout locations. Parking is prime but is worth the wait.

While you're visiting Yellowstone, a drive to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is definitely something you must see. The scenery is truly amazing.

We liked it much better than Grand Canyon NP. Hiking was easier and access was easy, unlike when you want to see Grand Canyon. The view of waterfall trail at the end of the Canyon was unforgettable.

From parking lot, a very easy stroll to views of the impressive falls and canyon. There is the option to walk further along path for different vantage points and more selfies with family.

YP can be divided into two parts - the geyser hot spring area and the Canyon part.
Grand Canyon of YP is the prime attraction of the latter. It stretches some 24 miles (40 km) with varying width and depth. It is conveniently accessed via Northern and Southern Rim drives, both with several places to stop.
You can observe the Canyon from 5 different locations stretched along both sides.

Very nice views! There are many view spots to take pictures, to watch the birds. In case of bad weather dangeours local roads were closed.

If there is one thing that I would say that you should see in Yellowstone it is the Canyon. Take your time and go to both rims. the views that each side provides are just spectacular. The waterfalls are just majestic. One tip is to go early and beat the crowds.!

Don't think Yellowstone is "just" about wildlife and geothermal activity. This is an iconic part of the park!

One of my favorite areas of the park, breathtaking scenery, especially the waterfalls. Lots of different viewing areas and trails, it is a must see.

So beautiful!! Besides all the people and it being crowded Yellowstone is still a must see and I honestly can't wait to go back!! This was such a cool sight to see!!

It is hard to believe this amazing canyon is just off the road in Yellowstone. It is scenic and beautiful. There are many lookouts along the road. My favorite was Artist’s Point. The view of the falls is fabulous.

I did the trail to the upper and lower falls brink trails. The rim trail would be neat if you had time. The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone would be a National Park in itself. September of 2020 there were fires, check before you go to see if the road is open.

We went in off season so no problems with parking or getting around. Unbelievable views and worth the drive.

The views throughout the many vistas of this canyon are fantastic. There are multiple waterfalls and the canyon walls show much geology. Some of the best views are down in the canyon, so anticipate hiking down and up 400 feet or so from the parking areas. Average elevation is about 8000 feet which might strain some people .

both the North Rim and South Rim Road lookouts offer different views of the canyon and fall. If you are pressed for time the lookout with the best view was Artist Point on the South Rim Road. Parking was busy in mid-june so you may need to spin around the lot.

We generally spend one morning each trip in the Canyon. Make sure to spend time stopping at each overlook on both the north and south sides. The views are amazing and well worth it. At the stop for the Upper Falls brink, don't miss out on the short walk to Crystal Falls in the parking lot!!

We hiked the South Rim Trail as an ending to a backcountry hike. It was beautiful and we were thankful for the shaded trail.

Not trying to down this canyon it is just that for me and my family this part of the park was of least concern. Depending on your likes and dislikes it might be more important to you.

This area has some of the most famous attractions in Yellowstone: The Upper and Lower Falls, and Artist Point are all easily accessible via paved walkways from several parking areas.

Well, if you are a nature enthusiast this is the place where you must definitely go. Then you will wanna go back again.

Loved the upper and lower falls, and the vista's, observation points, and the short walks we did. We loved the jagged cliffs and all of the beautiful canyon. Some of the trees and bushes were changing color, so the fall foliage added to the beautiful sights.

The falls, and the wildlife along the river is just part and parcel of this incredible national treasure. If you go to Yellowstone, be sure to include this in your touring

This is a MUST DO! We explored the Brink of the Upper and Lower Falls areas and it is hard to explain how wonderful and scenic it is! This is a popular spot, so plan accordingly to ensure you get parking.
There are a few trails and hikes from here but we mostly stuck to the main scenic overlook.

This is one of the thing NOT to miss - summer or winter !
Take the time to observe the canyon from various angles, and watch the different light conditions over the time of day.

This is a must see if you go to Yellowstone National Park. There are two water falls, both of them are worth your time. It is a short walk to the upper falls area, but do it.

Yellowstone was beautiful. So much to see and do. We had been told that the weather can change quickly. They were right. It was 50 degrees and sunny one minute and within 20 minutes it was cloudy and rainy. The temperature dropped to 37. It wasn’t very busy. I am glad we went at this time.

We saw the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone from a couple different view points. Each time it was absolutely stunning. My jaw dropped upon seeing this sight for the first time. Make it a point to see this while here, even if only from one view point! We were on a boardwalk trail that required stairs and that was my favorite view of this and then you can look at down at the river too. Absolutely breath taking. One of the most memorable parts of the trip for me.

The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone left me speechless. Awe-inspiring vistas, colorful cliffs, and roaring waterfalls were a testament to nature's artistry.

Its definitely a must see when in Yellowstone. The proper word to use is “surreal”. There’s this random canyon with two amazing waterfalls in the middle of a forest. There are multiple spots to see it…. From the south rim and north rim.

Saw so many beautiful areas and lots of animals . There were bison every where and many times traffic came to a stop. (You need a lot of patience driving, but, it is worth it. We enjoyed watching some young elk playing around with each other one evening and we saw a grizzly bear across a narrow river.

Most waterfalls have one view available but the upper and lower falls have a dozen options, which helps with the crowds. My personal favorite is the red rock point, but artists point is the most famous for a reason

The travel guides of Yellowstone Vacations were wonderful. They know the park well, and gave us a lot of information. The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone is awesome!

This is NOT to be missed and should be on tour top 5 list when visiting the park. I would recommend doing both North and South.

Both the upper and lower falls are beautiful and worth jockeying for different vantage points. We walked the trails on both sides of the main viewing areas and found viewing spots that we to ourselves for the most part which was great.

Among all the geological and natural wonders of Yellowstone, you can not miss a visit to the grand Canyon of the river of the same name. Pleasant trails especially on the North rim, all shaded, the view of the falls is exciting. We visited all the hotspots and each offers a different perspective and emotion
Beautiful also artist point on the south side.

We did a lot at the South Rim and just a bit at the north rim.
South: Upper Falls overlook, trail to artist's point (steep - but great views!) Artist's point - crowded
North: Brink of Upper Falls - MUST DO! Drive to one of the overlooks along the north road. Nice and not as crowded as other areas.

Beautiful must see view ! It’s so gorgeous up here ! Highly recommend ! This is a must see! We loved the whole area and the gorgeous vistas are unbeatable !

We had never heard of the this canyon before. It was a beautiful surprise. You can walk right up to the edge and look down. There are falls and a river at the bottom. Very pretty and amazing.

This area of the park is just great. The falls are great. The trails were all pretty easy. The chance for pictures was awesome. It was crowded in the afternoon so I went back the next morning. Well worth it.

This place is just beautiful! Easy to get to from the parking area. Lots of scenery to look at in a few different viewing areas.

Must do! It is almost a religious experience to see the waterfall from Artist Point, Do not miss this on your trip to Yellowstone.

Definitely worth the visit, we hiked the trails to see the lower and upper falls. Some of the hikes were short but very steep.

This was almost more impressive than the geysers and pools. I'd never heard of "The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone" before - wow, it was fantastic! You can hike over from the lower falls/upper falls parking area, or you can drive up and walk along paved paths to see all the spectacular views.

One of those places that if you are close be sure to see it. When I was there there was still snow around but down at the base of the falls there was hot vapor venting right by the snow - magnificent!

My lovely favorite place since I was little. Gorgeous interesting area with all its challenging routes. Prefect perfect perfect for photographers. Do not miss the chance to explore around with a camera

Definitely worth the trip! If you’re going to walk down to the falls, remember you have to walk back up! You need to be in moderate fitness for the trek back up.

It’s much smaller than the real Grand Canyon but still interesting to see. We saw it while in a tour. Not too hard to get to.

Breathtaking and worth the trip! Plenty of hikes for all ages. Beautiful landscapes with awe inspiring views at every turn. We did a quick day trip to visit Yellowstone from Jackson and able to hike a few must see trails, wild life and numerous waterfalls.

We were in Yellowstone National Park in June 2023. We walked to the upper falls lookout. It was an intersting walk with spectacular views of the canyoun and the waterfall. we then drove to the lower lookout. You need to walk down some 600 feet to the viewing platform. The view there is similarly spectacular. This was certianlya highlight of our visit

What an amazing hike and the waterfalls were outstanding. No calm water, it was all showing the health and wellness of the spring thaw.

The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River is not as humongously large as the famed Grand Canyon in Arizona. Nevertheless it is a magnificent sight! Best viewed early in the morning (say before 10 am) or late in the day (say after 5 pm) to avoid the enormous crowds which are visiting Artist Point or the observation points on the North rim drive. The views from Artist Point are very good indeed.

The views here were worth the hike. But it was a very long hike at altitude! We’re good shoes, take water, abs take your time! It is so worth it!

It was wonderful to have a guide that new the area history. We felt comfortable walking on the paths with a guide who knew the way. We ventured into areas we would not have gone to alone.

We visited the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and took in its picturesque sights. There were number of roadside parking for use. There were walking trails on both sides of the canyon and a number of good viewing areas. We viewed the Canyon from the northern rim and viewed the Lower Springs. There were spectacular colors on the sides of the canyon displaying the iron compounds in the soil.

This place was absolutely amazing. The trail down to the lower falls is a little steep, so be prepared to take a few breaks on the way back up. Also, I wouldn't suggest wearing a hat as the wind blows hard. I saw several people hats get blown off and fall down the mountain. Put this on your list of things to do!

A Breathtaking Visit to Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone
The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is a stunning natural wonder. The vivid colors, rushing river, and lush scenery made my visit unforgettable. A must-see in Yellowstone!

What a beautiful water fall. It is really majestic. When you go be sure to hike to the lookout to get a picture of the falls from the look out. You will love it,

Getting out of the car and walking the paths to the lookouts is definitely worth it! A true "Kodak Moment".

Amazing colors, sounds and sights. Be prepared to walk a little ways to get to the viewing area. Parking lot is actually a nice size.

Bring good hiking shoes, you Don't necessarily need boots. Most of the path is paved or gravel but not many rocks. You can walk up to 3 or 4 miles if you go all the way to Sublime Point. The trail is wide but those with a fear of heights will feel it a bit at times.

Amazing waterfall views. Great hiking for those who don’t mind steep inclines. One of the highlights of our trip.

Beautiful overlook area. Not crowded when we arrived in the morning and parking was plentiful. Enjoyed sitting and watching the water flow down the canyon.

This is a must see for any trip to Yellowstone. If you are short on time, drive the North Rim Road and use the quick access points to see the falls. If you have more time, hike to the bottom, go to Inspiration Point and Artist Point.

If you aren't into hiking, there are awesome views from the top. So, make sure to take in the falls and surrounding area. Great views from every viewpoint.

Fabulous (but classic) views are enjoyed from this vantage point. I'd recommend going as early in the day as possible. The east facing falls are best photographed at that time.

This is truly a bucket list place. Video the falls as they are so powerful and drop several hundreds of feet to the river. The canyon has multi-level colors of stone and the trees and brush are so beautiful.

Definitely must see in Yellowstone NP.
Just a minute walking from the car park.
Different and interesting trails both on North and South Rim

What a great view of this upper and around the corner ! mile the lower falls. With the spring melt the water was crazy!!!
Take photos and make your own posters.

Yellowstone is often associated with hot springs, but there are actually large waterfalls and large canyons. Of course, it's smaller than the real Grand Canyon in Arizona, but it's still worth a visit. There are several observatories, each with a different view.

It remeinded us a Yosemite national park the Nevada Falls both very beautiful. We recommend waiting for a parking polace for this

Plan to spend a day. Plan lots of walking, climbing and descending. Wear honking shoes. Walk the South Rim Trail. Take Uncle Toms Trail if open. Hike down to upper falls and lower falls overlooks. Hike to Artist’s point. Study Morans painting of the lower falls.

This was our favorite place we visited while in Yellowstone National Park! We even walked down to the lower falls, which was beautiful. The hike back up was a little rough lol, but definitely worth it!

This is the largest waterfall that most in our family have seen.
Great viewing points along the canyon.
Breathtakingly beautiful.

This was the highlight of the 4-day trip in the park for me. Absolutely incredible views and some nice hiking along the rim. Uncle Tom's Trail is unfortunately closed for the season (stairs need repairs), but check out all the other viewpoints.

The beauty of Yellowstone has to be seen to fully appreciate. Every single turn off along the roads are worth your time. The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone is truly a hi light! Go see for yourself.

A smaller Grand Canyon with gushing waterfalls, though vast and unique on its own. Definitely a park highlight!!! A convenient short walk to spectacular views from parking lot.

Some strenuous hiking, some easy, but all beautiful. Even the air was fresh and crisp. Many waterfalls and opportunities to see from different angles.

See it from all angles. Walk the paths and just enjoy the magestry. Try to get there before 10 am to see a rainbow.

The Grand Canyon of Yellowston blew me away. This area is so beautiful and well worth exploring. Of course, you have to go to Artist Point, but be sure to also visit the

We were so awed when we got here that we couldn't believe it. The canyon is gorgeous with all the different colors. If you go to Artist Point, there is a stunning view of the Lower Falls. This is an absolute must see.

The views are wonderful and it's not nearly as busy/touristy as other locations in the park--it's worth spending some time here!

Amazing views! Beautiful waterfalls. We liked this much more than Old Faithful. Probably our favorite part of the park. Not to be missed!!!

We visited all of Yellowstone in three days and the Grand Canyon was the busiest of the entire park. It was so busy we could not even get to see the Canyon. It was the most touristy part of the Park. We preferred Lamar Valley over everything as it was great for wild life viewing and not as many people.

One of the must see when visiting. So much of nature to see, and the beauty is surreal. I would highly recommend this for all.

Arrive early to get parking. We hiked from Artist's Point to Point Sublime in 2-3 hours. It was a breathtaking visit that I would recommend for anyone!

The NPS has done a great job this summer making as many of Yellowstone’s magnificent sites available for tourists to see despite Covid. Thank you!!!

It is way, way beyond words-it is like a painting in motion. I have been to the Grand Canyon in Arizona many times, and I believe that this grand canyon is better because it's size can be comprehended, and thus its beauty can be fully appreciated. I am thankful for having been able to see it!

Spectacular and beautiful. The colors are absolutely amazing. I enjoyed the waterfall and grand canyon! This is definitely a must-see!

The best location to see the falls and the river is Artist Point. The northern side has some views but if you are only going to hit one then do this one.

This is a pretty amazing sight! The parking is ample and it's a short walk to view the waterfall and the canyon.

I had seen a picture from the week before while still at home, and there was snow to the left of the waterfall. It was still there when we arrived !
The Grand Canyon is smaller than Arizona's, but the water and what it cut out is equally impressive. There were many spots to view different angles of the masterpiece. Many people chose this as their best experience in the park.

Ther are lots of lookouts to stop for pictures. The walk up is not strenuous and there are variety of views.

It was worth the walk to the bottom to get a full view of the lower fall. Do it in the morning when it’s cool out because yowza I would die coming back up if it was 90 degrees.

What a beautiful sight the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone is! Getting to the best views was easy because of the great stairs and walkways they have available! Viewing the interesting rock formations and the river coursing through the canyon was a sight to behold. Must see.

This is a complex area to visit with multiple roads, loops and trails. Views are remarkable so try to see all vantage points. Go early to avoid crowds and give yourself 2 - 3 hours for this.

Actually, I can put the same rating on every nature reserve and point. America's national parks are so beautiful and have so much to offer that it never gets old. Like here, beautiful mountains, gorges with rivers and waterfalls

A Grand Canyon in Yellowstone! Visit the waterfalls, as these provide the best views. You will notice the v-shaped edges of the canyon and the unique quality of the stone on the sides. Spectacular! There are several viewing areas, and each are unique for photo ops.

We stopped at this lookout while taking the main loop road. Even though it was a rainy day the falls were visible and we hiked on 2 different trails for better views. The trail towards the falls offers great views but is not for unwatched small children as the dropoffs are deadly. Recommended. The hike away from the falls offers equally spectacular views and a paved, much safer and easier hike. The day we got there we listened to a park ranger talking about the falls and then he hung around to answer questions. Spectacular place to take pictures of the entire falls.

Even though it rained and snowed on us the week before Memorial Day, this was a definite plus! There are really nice wooden paths down to the falls, but it was too wet to use them.

Traveling with the family, the scenery is amazing, left a lot of beautiful photos, everyone had a good time.

Loved the beautiful canyon and I especially enjoyed the native american eatery there. We are vegetarians so just ate rice , some boiled veggies and a hot sauce and it was sooooooooo good.

I've been to the Grand Canyon and this view was awesome! And the water falls was fantastic!! The sound was wonderful to hear.

We were here during the third week of October 2022 when most of the park was closed down for the summer season. There are great views by driving both the N. Rim Rd. and the S. Rim Rd. There are lookouts that are very close to the parking lots at each area as well as longer hikes going down to the Lower Brink Falls and the Upper Brink Falls trails. You could easily spend the day driving and walking the different trails to see the different angles of the Lower Falls and the Upper Falls in the Yellowstone Grand Canyon.

Grand Canyon of Yellowstone was so beautiful and majestic. It was definently a highlight and would definently recommend.

The two rim drives jus out of Canyon Lodge are a short scenic drive to the canyon. We walked the trail. Some good but not brilliant vantage points on the accessible path. Worth a look and very scenic

A must go to while visiting Yellowstone. Make sure to stop at artist point for some amazing photos.
Go early or later in the evening. Becomes very crowded between 10am until 6pm or so.

If you visit Yellowstone you need to make a stop at the Grand Canyon area. So many gorgeous views of the waterfalls. Go to the north and south rim, check out artists point and hit the brinks of the upper falls

I love waterfalls and this was the best. Make sure you get to both the lower and upper falls viewpoints. You can also walk down to the top of the waterfalls which is incredible to listen and watch.

Just one of the gorgeous sites to see in Yellowstone National Park. This park is huge. It consists of a northern loop and a southern loop. Each loop has 2-3 places of interest to see. The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone is just one of the them...definitely worth seeing...beautiful scenery.

Definitely the highlight of the Park. The North Rim is my favorite. There are several spots that give different views both up towards the lower falls, and also down the canyon. Just spectacular. Take the time and do the walks and see it from all the different vista points.

Amazing park. We seen a lot of wild animals in each section of the park. July is a good period as weather is cool temperature ( could have morning freezing temperature early morning at 6 am) . Important to wake up early to enjoy wildlife and have the chance to encounter wild animals. Best national park lodges accommodation at Canyon Lodge & cabins and old faithfull Snow Lodge. We recommend to start you tour from North historic Entrance to have the best lands view and have the benefit of the park magnificent . Mammoth Hot springs are not active anymore. Lake Yellowstone do not offer a lot of trails and discoveries. Hayden Valley and Canyon area are best places to discover. If you go to old faithfull, skip the grand prismatic tourist site as you can not see anything from the regular tourist view point. You can park in another parking at fairy falls and do a short trail to mid geyser basin with a view point in the hill with the best view on grand prismatic.

Thomas Moran's paintings in this area helped convince Congress to set aside Yellowstone as a National Park. Moran painted the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. Look at the color of the rocks. This is how Yellowstone got its name.

We went here in late April and only the Lookout Point and Grand Point were open, but still well worth it ! We enjoyed spectacular views of the deep canyons and the dramatic waterfall, made even more beautiful with the snowfall. Strongly recommended. It was slippery and icy that day so we had to watch our step, while some daring young people climbed down over the wall and to the very edge of the cliff to have a better view. It was thrilling and adventurous to visit here, especially during the cold season.

It's a bit of a hike to get right down to the view the falls but so worth it! Amazing views of the canyon and the falls are so beautiful. Spend plenty of time exploring

we walked along the canyon trail and it was a great hike. really pretty and not crowded like the stops along the drive.

The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone Is one of the main reason to visit the Yellowstone Park. The Canyon is very impressive with its colors, its depth (the Lower Fall is 94 meters high), the beauty of the waterfalls, upper amd lower, and the surrounding green forests. Its a must see!

This is always my favorite part of Yellowstone. The view will take your breath away. It is so beautiful. The trails are nice but can be difficult for some. A lot of up hill walking. Artist point was closed for 2020 and Uncle Tom’s is also closed, but there are plenty of other trails to enjoy. The waterfalls, the canyon and the occasional rainbows will make you realize how beautiful Yellowstone is.

We loved our stop here. Beautiful views. Easy stop & areas to view from. You are able to see Yellowstone Falls & Artist Point. Amazing colors in the canyon.

They get ya... Drive further up the road there is MORE parking and then you eliminate the 2 mile hike ...

The views of the canyon are outstanding. The area is well equipped with steps and paved walkways to make traversing the canyon pretty easy. A nice stop in the park.

Absolutely amazing view! Would love to see it again! Get here early. Lots of traffic. Several different views available of the falls.

In my opinion, the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone is the most beautiful place in the park. It expresses the park's complex geologic history in dramatic colors and shapes. Puffs of steam mark hydrothermal features in the canyon's walls. The Upper and Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River add to the grandeur of the unique natural treasure.
We viewed it from the North and South Rim and from lookout, inspiration and artists points. Unfortunately the brink was closed during our visit but I would have loved to get a workout and get that close to the falls.
We went about 8:30 am to beat the crowds and spent about 2 hours there. Make sure you take a lot of pictures and videos but it does not do it justice when you come home and look at them. Enjoy.

Hard to rate the best attractions in Yellowstone, but if you ranked this #1, you wouldn’t be wrong. Probably the most scenic views you will get in the entire park. Awe inspiring at all of the different view points. Make sure to check out artists point!

If you can hike down and around this area....I highly recommend hitting all the spots of this beauty! It will be an all day event, so bring snacks and lots of water, and your camera of course....and you won't regret it! It is stunning!

This was a wonderful drive to the Yellowstone upper and lower falls along the canyon. There are beautiful views from everywhere. A few steps up and down and many viewpoints. I thought this canyon was gorgeous.

Go in the early morning before the crowds show up. Well worth your time. Little ones were hunting jackets in August.

The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is absolutely breathtaking! The dramatic canyon walls, carved by the Yellowstone River, showcase vibrant hues of yellow, red, and orange, making it a visual masterpiece. The stunning waterfalls, especially the iconic Lower Falls, provide unforgettable views from various vantage points like Artist Point and Lookout Point. The mix of natural beauty, geological wonder, and wildlife sightings makes this a must-see destination in Yellowstone National Park.

Lovely- we couldn't get enough be sure to make your way to the artist point as well as the brink of the lower and upper falls.

I didn't know this place even existed until till halfway through my trip and I saw a sign pointing in the falls direction. I'm so glad we stopped!! It has several fantastic view points and was surprisingly not too crowded at 3 pm.....maybe that because of Covid. One of the highlights of my trip for sure. This must not be missed!

Artist Point will give you such a view. You will see the changes of colors of ignaeous rock. Lower Falls has multiple levels--falls to the left and colorful canyon to the right. Upper Falls are wide and powerful.

We hiked along the canyon, were hit by hail, it took us longer that we expected but overall experience was beyond any expectations

Worth the trip to this area of Yellowstone. Be sure to do a short hike to the various vantage points. Not nearly as grand as the "Grand Canyon", but simply beautiful.

I highly recommend the Grand canyon of the yellowstone. It is very close to canyon village and it is very beautiful. Considering all the walking we had to do to get to other places this was a walk in the park.

This was one of our favorite areas in the park. We hiked around for about 4 hours, by the little falls and big falls as well as along the river. Definitely a must do in Yellowstone.

Certainly one of the highlights of Yellowstone National Park, definitely worth a visit and take enough time to explore it on foot.

1st time going to Yellowstone, and wondering WHY we didn't go when we were younger. I've been snowmobiling in Cooke City 3 times, but NEVER to Yellowstone. My wife and I (68/70) decided to go this September. WHAT an amazing place to see nature! Spent 3 days driving around Yellowstone and WILL be back soon!! The pictures we took just don't do Yellowstone beauty justice! From the animals, grasslands, trees, streams, lakes, drives, thermals...that you can see this is a MUST see national park!! Yes, if you stay in the park it's EXPENSIVE. We decided to stay outside the park and save some $$.

Just tremendously beautiful! We've spent enough time here. First visited all lookouts on the North Rim and the next day the views on the South Rim. At the South Rim we hiked from the Upper Falls to Artist Point and back. This was a very nice and quiet path close to the Rim with many great views. You can also join a ranger talk at Artist Point. It's worth spending more time here. Parking problems we had during our visit no.

Definitely a must do if you are in Yellowstone, the waterfalls are just majestic, there were walking trails on both sides of the canyon.

This is a beautiful place. Everybody must visit here once in a lifetime. Wonderful experience. The most beautiful views of the world.

I didn’t realize there was a canyon at Yellowstone, what a view! The steps at Uncle Toms was closed so we decided to hike the Red Rock trail at lookout point and also did the brink of the lower falls trail. I recommend getting here early as it has small amounts of parking and you will want to beat the crowds. The canyon and falls was simply fantastic!

The name “Grand Canyon” of Yellowstone is so fitting. It is colorful and full of grandeur. The falls make for the perfect backdrop for pictures that you’ll be talking about until your next visit.

I have never been to the Grand Canyon, but this place is absolutely beautiful!!! The valley that leads from the falls is so beautiful!!

Very beautiful canyon. There are three ways to see it from different angles.. Gorgeous panoramic view

This is a don’t miss! It was beautiful and unlike other canyons so I wish they would call it something else. . .but it is definitely worth adding to your list!

I wasn’t even aware of this part of Yellowstone but luckily my wife had done the research. A very easy walk from the parking lot to Artist’s Point, from where you get a fantastic view of the canyon and falls, this part of the park is not to be missed.

What a beauty the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, Arist Point not to be missed under any circumstances, you will be amazed, it is worth the detour

We did both the North and South Rim on Friday 9/4. Both areas have easy to access scenic overlooks with great views and very little walking. You can easily see waterfalls. The only exception is the Brink of the Lower Falls - this is a steep descent of 600 feet in 3/8 of a mi and you need to also climb back up. The Brink took us 25 min to walk up and down. All the other spots on the North and South Rim were easy to do and we spent anywhere from 10 - 15 minutes at each spot.
The North Rim was nice and quiet in the morning at around 8 am. We spent around 1 hr and 15 minutes there.
For the South Rim, we spent around 45 minutes total time there with 10 - 15 minutes each at Artist Point and Uncle Tom's Point.

My favorite part of the park. Do as many of the hikes as you can. Best hike was near Artist's Pointe away from crowds.

The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone! This was a bucket list item for me. Although you can drive the south rim we opted to hike it from Chittenden Bridge to Artists point because, hey, that's what we do, we hike! And we got to see more of the canyon. The hike is about 3 miles out and back and is of moderate difficulty. We ate a lunch before starting at the picnic area near the Chittenden Bridge but go early there are not alot of tables and some of the tours set up lunch there. Down in the woods are some nice logs to sit on if no tables are available. We started our hike here and the first stop was the Upper Falls Viewing area. The upper falls fall 109 feet. Next, we hiked down the canyon rim towards Artist's Point with several, unbelievable in number and beauty, views of the canyon. We also got some great views from different aspects of the lower falls. The lower falls falls are 308 feet high which is twice the height of Niagra Falls. It is the largest volume waterfall in the Rocky Mountains. This was a pleasant hike for us lots of shade, but we are experienced hikers. For the occasional hiker or non-hiker it could prove to be moderately strenuous.

Don't just stop at the north side or just the south side, keep going to the second stops... Incredible views.

By far the best part of this park, in my opinion. There are three sections, all worth the time. The south rim, the headwaters of the falls and the north rim. Take the paths and take the hikes if you can at all. If time is a factor, the north rim is the best, in my opinion. It is a 2-3 hour experience once there to do all parts. Remember, from any entrance to the park, there is considerable driving to get to any attraction. The time herein is the time at the attraction, not the time to get there

The park is so spread out, and travel slow because of traffic and animal blocking/sighting, that you should stay where your primary interest and time indicates. If it is the geysers, try to stay south. If it is the canyon, mudpots and river stay central, and the north has Mammoth and the wildlife valley. There are trails along both sides, south and north, of the canyon. Easy and relatively (couple of miles) shorts.

We came back to view the canyon from Artist's point every day we were in the park. I just couldnt get enough!

This was our first time to Yellowstone NP. We stayed very close to the South Entrance in WY at an RV Park and spent 3 full days in the park. Many say that everyone should see the Grand Canyon in AZ before they die. We would venture to say that everyone should see Yellowstone NP before they die. The entire park is one amazing geological feature after another and full of wildlife. The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone was breathtaking; surely as beautiful as the South or North Rims of "the" Grand Canyon. I can see why there are places there that are photographed by professionals over and over. It is serene, peaceful and awe-inspiring. It's definitely worth seeing.

This park opens up a new world on every corner. After Lamar Valley and Mammoth Hot Springs, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone corner was once again a completely new, stunning landscape. Every viewpoint here is a dream. I read before our visit that you often have parking problems here. We were in the park in September and it was full but not crowded. So we were able to stop at every point.

The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is not to be missed. We explored both the north and south rims. If you’re into to photography go early. The afternoon sun will wash out your photos towards the lower falls. Personally, I prefer the south rim view from Artist’s Point.

The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is stunning from all perspectives, and we enjoyed seeing it from all the different viewpoints.

The colors! This view took my breath away. I almost didn’t visit thinking I would see the same thing from the south rim but boy am I glad I went. I was there early morning and the sunshine was just hitting the canyon and the colors were so varied and different it was well beyond what I expected. The path is well maintained and accessible for those with mobility issues. I can’t stress enough how much of a must see this is. It was the best thing I saw in my trip

This is the most amazing site! We visited the canyon two days in a row. There are both paved rim trails and more rigorous trails down into the canyon to get you right next to the falls.
I'd recommend getting there early in the morning or before dusk, as that is when the canyon is least busy and at its most beautiful.

Incredible views and beauty! Arrived early in the am and stopped here in the SNOW!! The road to Lamar Valley had just closed due to weather, so we drove to the canyon and had a great time BY OURSELVES! Parking is somewhat limited if you are a summer traveler. Dad can’t walk long distances so paths were very helpful. Vistas amazing. Words can’t describe what a great (chilly) experience we had with the sight all to ourselves. You won’t get this experience in the summer! Our trip was a few days before much of the park closed for the winter. I’ve seen this view in years past, but we loved seeing it in some winter glory. Take photos!!

WOW! This was a highlight for us. We did most of the viewpoints around the canyon. Artist's point was stunning. You'd be missing out if you passed this up!

Worth Seeing. The falls are beautiful and there are great vantage points to see the rock formations.

We really enjoyed these views. The park is perfect. The views are grand and breathtaking. Great vacation.

One of the most memorable views in Yellowstone. Just a short walk and a few stairs to see the falls. There was a ranger on hand to answer questions which was nice. Can’t miss this photo opportunity of Mother nature’s.

Never knew this place existed! It’s like out of a movie! The light was phenomenal and everything just glowed! There were a lot of people but we still enjoyed stopping here. Great place for pictures.

The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is absolutely not to be missed. The views from the overlooks on both the North Rim and South Rim are exquisite but I suggest going early to catch the morning sun. The late afternoon sun washed out and ruined my photos so I returned to Artist’s Point the next day at dawn to score some great shots and see deer and elk!

The sights and sounds are amazing. A must see at Yellowstone.
There is so much to see. However, you will be stuck in traffic because of the number of people visiting the park. And also animals using the roads as well.

Go early before the crowds arrive, great place for a hike. Amazing wildlife viewing. For sure a must see

We took the drive around the upper rim of the Grand Canyon area, which was very interesting. We finally nabbed a parking space and it turned out we were near the trail to the top of the falls. I was unsure about going down the trail, but my fiancé was insistent so we did it. Going down isn't that difficult and the view and overlook at the Falls was pretty spectacular. The climb up, however, was a different story. There are a lot of switchbacks on the very steep climb. Being older, and honestly, not in good shape, the climb back was difficult. We obviously made it, but I wasn't a happy camper when we were done! So really think about that before you take the hike. There are other overlooks that give you a view of the fall with less strenuous of a climb, which can be considered.

This is definitely worth seeing as it’s a awesome Canyon of different colors and crazy formations left behind from many many years ago

I was told that taking picture of this area of Yellowstone would take my breath away....everyone was right. It is worth the walk and climb to every picturesque area. We went in the Fall and found it to be the best time....less crowds

Allow plenty of time so you can see both sides of the canyon.
We made multiple stops as we travelled around and the views are incredible.
There are plenty of stopping places, many with short trails to follow as well as longer hikes and we didn't have to queue very long for parking anywhere at the end of August.
This is a "must see" when visiting Yellowstone.

Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is another one of the multitude of diverse wonders in the national park.
There are upper falls and lower falls. Trials to both give great views of a dramatic change in the park. Do them all or whatever you are capable of, but don’t miss this part of the park.

WOW, this was my favorite part of our whole Yellowstone trip. What an amazing sight and experience. We visited a number of stops all around the canyon and each one was better than the last. I highly recommend you plan to spend at least a half day exploring this area of Yellowstone and start early to avoid some crowds. This should definitely be at the top of your list for your Yellowstone trip!

My wife and I arrived just before 8am and found plenty of parking near a trail head marked artist point and took in the spectacular view. We then took the trail to Uncle Tom's point and back. The trail was about 1.75 miles with some moderate inclines. This was one of the definite highlights of our trip to Yellowstone. I am pretty fit for 50 and I felt the hike was enough of a challenge... the payoff of these majestic views were worth every huff and puff.

This is one of the most beautiful places on earth! And we especially love it in winter! There are fewer people and the scenery is lovely when it’s touched with snow! Don’t miss this beautiful area that gives Yellowstone its name!

Beautiful falls. Make sure you see the various stages of the waterfall (break, upper, lower etc) then go to Artist’s Point to see the canyon in all its glory. Particularly colourful just after rain

The scenery was beautiful. I know we were in a national park and the idea is to keep national parks natural, but it seems to me that in some of these popular scenery area some of the trees and bushes could get trimmed back a little.

One of the most beautiful, awe-inspiring and magnificent National parks to visit. Top 3 must-see destinations are Grand canyon of Yellowstone, old faithful and Grand prismatic spring.

We loved the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone! We stopped at all the lookout points I do believe and hiked down to the falls. We spent a whole day here hiking and exploring.

Park, use the bathroom, follow the crowd. 5 minute walk that gets better and better the further you go!

Words cannot possibly describe the beauty here. The view is breathtaking. Be careful if you have small children around the sides.

On our trip to Yellowstone National Park we stopped at multiple points along the North Rim for great views of the canyon and the waterfall. We never had any issues finding parking and all of the overlooks were not far from the road except the Red Rocks Lookout which is a paved trail deeper into the canyon that provides a great view of the waterfall. These spots are close to the Grand Loop road and afterwards we visited the Canyon Village area which has multiple restaurants, gift shops and a visitor center. It was a great way to spend a morning in Yellowstone.

The views are truly amazing. The waterfall and the surrounding areas make this location a must see for the entire family vacation.

This time after leaving Artist Point, we went on a one way (buses are not allowed) trip on a road down the Yellowstone River cliff edge where we agan recrossed to the south side of Chittender bridge, and then stopped along the way at the Top of the Lower Falls, where we went on foot = down 600 ft. on a 1/2 mile of switch back trail to the top of the falls. Again wow what a treat down to the water's edge!
The one way road along the south canyon rim passed numerous turn outs (Brink of the lower falls / lookout point / grand view / inspiration point); for a stop to view the falls and canyon from the South side of the river.

Took a buggy to see, was gorgeous, the Guide Chris, UGH..(.wish it was a silent tour). But the scenery was incredible and worth seeing longer on this tour v.s. the geyser tour.

We visited this with our guide. It is very beautiful with lots of informative plaques. There are a few hiking trails in the area.

Check out the Yellowstone Grand Canyon upper and lower falls experience. We took the hike to inspiration point and looked at the upper falls. We then hiked down a small path and saw the stunning waterfalls of the lower fall area. What a beautiful place to be.

You can get so close to the waterfalls its absolutely Beautiful, breathe taking!
Do not miss, super easy to get too.
Must see.

A must see for any outdoors folks. Nice hike from falls overlook to second point farther from road if you wish rather than driving both points

Nice area where you can see rock formations and the river at the bottom. There’s a couple of different lookouts. Small parking lot so get there early.

This is a must see at Yellowstone! A huge gorgeous waterfall amongst everything else, it's worth the stop to see it. We stopped at Artist Point and was not disappointed. The views are breathtaking!

My recent visit to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone in Yellowstone National Park left me utterly awestruck. Nature's masterpiece unfolded before my eyes, and the sheer grandeur of this canyon is something that words can scarcely capture. The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is a testament to the extraordinary beauty that nature can carve. The well-maintained trails and strategically placed lookout points provide various perspectives of the canyon.Begin your visit early in the day to avoid crowds and experience the canyon in the soft morning light.

It is well worth the trip to see the beautiful falls and scenery. The views are much like the Grand Canyon. The viewing areas are a short walk from the parking lot. It was not a busy area of the park compared to other areas we visited. This area of the park does not seem to attract the attention that other areas do. I would rank this stop in the top 4 of the park.

The upper and lower falls of the Yellowstone river are spectacular. Paved paths connected some of the viewpoints. Ample parking was available at both falls. Artist Point is well named with the different color rocks.

There are not too many touristic place like this in YP as everyone clamors to get a view. You will not get any view and parking is a big mess.

I think that this was maybe one of my favorite parts of Yellowstone. When we went it was overcast so, I can only imagine what it would look like in full sun. It is amazing to see the cliffs that the water has worn down over the years. It is beautiful!

Breahtaking vistas up and down the river with the towring, V-shpaed sides of the canyon in truly yellow stone. Very impressive, make sure you drive the south as well as the north rim and stop at the vioewpoints.

we drove the north and south rim. were bummed to find out toms trail and lower brink were both closed

Aside from Old Faithful, the Yellowstone River Canyon and Yellowstone Falls are well known icons. The canyon is amazing and the falls are spectacular. All along are numerous view points. We liked Artist Point best

By far, the most beautiful place I've ever visited. Would return tomorrow if I could. Have been three times already and will go again

My favorite spot in Yellowstone. We went twice while visiting. One time it was sunny and the second time was foggy and rainy. Both were beautiful. I chatted with a family at Tower Falls which was beautiful too but they said they had seen the sign for Grand Canyon if Yellowstone but didn’t go!! I urged them to go because it’s even more spectacular than the Tower Falls. I included pics but they don’t do the hugeness of it justice.

An amazing experience!! We hiked down the path to get to the lookout spot - it was a crazy hike, but so worth the breaking views at the bottom! There were benches along the way as well. I’d recommend wearing some good hiking shoes and bringing a water! :)

The canyon is sure to take your breath away from the second you see it. The large rock walls with the central waterfall and flowing river may be frightening, but are truly a work of nature. The falls flow extremely fast and heavy, and it is amazing to see the sheer power of it. Hikes can be a bit challenging because of the contest zig zag pattern that is very steep on the way back up. For one of the best views, I recommend going to the lower falls viewpoint. The hike is about .5 miles, but is a bit challenging. I highly recommend this!

From the Canyon Lodge, follow a small sign between trees to the parking lot, follow another sign, and, wow, it was a breathtaking sight. It was a nice surprise. Returning to the vehicle, I observed the rocky terrain and high and low waterfalls from several viewpoints for half a day. After you feel fear, keep going. If you drive to different locations, you get a lot more. This place is crowded in the summer, but there are not so many places like this.

Well worth the drive to see. Mountains, waterfalls, and a crsp cool morning made this awesome. Definitely walk th trails because the variety in this area has something for everyone.

Jaw dropping natural beauty. Encourage taking the 300 steps to see falls from lower perspective than just upper rim view.

So beautiful! Yellowstone has so much to offer and this spot did not disappoint. We came in the late afternoon around 4pm. It was still beautiful but the afternoon low light did not make for great photos. I would recommend coming here midday when the sun is high so you can see Yellowstone's namesake...the yellow rock walls of the canyon.

You should go to this site from many view points and a variety of times in the day so that you can see all the different colors in the canyon. It's gorgeous!

When I first walked up and looked out, it literally took my breath away! The colors, the magnitude, the waterfall, the rock formations. So so beautiful. I just can’t describe it — and photos do t do it justice.
Just go.

We had hoped to take the many stairs on Uncle Tom Trail but it is closed now. We took another trail which goes over a bridge over the falls with a good view down into the canyon. We brought bear spray but probably didn't need to.

This was so beautiful. Full of color. And if you are quiet you can hear the rushing water below. There is LOTS of wildlife in the area on the paths, but not at the turn outs. It is worth a peek at. We loved this and it mode for beautiful pictures.

The sight was stunning and well worth the travel time to get there. Highly recommend taking the time to see this.

I haven't traveled like this recently. The beauties I encountered throughout the tour were magnificent. This might be one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited in my life. This place offers a magnificent visual show with its different color riots. I can say that it is one of the rare regions in the world. You will need a camera or your phone's camera.

We spent two days in Yellowstone, and this was one of our favorite things to see (enjoyed it much more than Old Faithful). There are scenic lookouts and trails around the canyon with so many great views. We stopped at the visitor center and a ranger gave us a map of the canyon area with suggestions on where to park and get the best views. As a side comment, we found all of the rangers at the park to be extremely helpful and friendly. If you have a limited time in the park, I would suggest the canyon as a "don't miss" attraction.

I really enjoyed the waterfall views from the different vantage points from upper and lower portion of canyon. I think this maybe a much overlooked part of Yellowstone since people come and clammer around Old Faithful. We did not see too many people during our drive through this area. There are lots of trails and pull outs to enjoy the wonderful canyon. Loved it!!

This location shows why the park is called "Yellowstone". This is one of the must-see locations in the park.

We took both the south and north rim drives stopping at many places to take in the overviews. Beautiful.

Amazing canyon
Stopped at several viewpoints along the way.
The stop at Grand View was my favorite. Did not plan to stop there but glad we did. Easy walk with railing. The view just gets better and better.
Also the Brink to the lower falls was great.

This was one of the most beautiful parts of the park. It can be viewed from several vantage points. It is definitely worth taking the loop to see!

Don't miss a single pull off at Yellowstone National Park as the pandemic is here and you are not allowed to do much else.

What a spectacular view of the waterfall and surrounding painted rock cliffs. You will stand in awe as you gaze over the landscape as did the famed photographer Ansel Adams. I will say this was far more impressive than Old Faithful.

Old Faithful gets a lot of press but the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is actually more impressive and important (but if you are in Yellowstone and have never seen them the don't skip Old Faithful and the associated thermal features).

I had no idea what to expect and hadn't really heard of this part of Yellowstone before I got there but it is definitely one of the most beautiful places on Earth and should not be missed.

I stopped here because I assumed it was a joke. Instead, I was amazed by the beauty of the area. The canyon was breathtaking and I appreciate the park's effort to make this area accessible.

While the photos look like something an artist drew, it is indeed a photograph! The colors of this canyon with the waterfall are just remarkable! Standing here, it feels like you’re in an actual drawing! There are several ways to access and view the Grand Canyon of YellowStone. If you look through the online tour, it will help you pin point which ones you want to visit.
-Brink of Lower Falls trail is HIGHLY RECOMMMENDED!!! It’s .4 mile down and back up so it is a little strenuous but takes you to the very top of the waterfall. The view from here is absolutely incredible!!! Not only are you right at the rush water of top of the fall, but the view down the canyon is breaktaking.
-Another good trail is Red Rock Point which is just as strenuous down, .3 miles, and back up but it takes you to the lower part of the falls.
-Inspiration Point and Artist Point are both near parking and short walks to the overlook with some of the best views. Uncle Tom’s trail takes you into the canyon for great views. It was unfortunately closed when we visited the park.
-Many places along the canyon has parking for you to drive around, park and visit. Parking areas are designated in the image to the left.

I went to the Grand Canyon twice and it is a great trip. First, with my family when I was about 15. We drove there in my Dad's Lincoln Continental.
Then, I exchanged my Timeshare for Flagstaff, AZ with my daughter Molly. We took a tour bus to the Canyon and had lunch and bought souveniers.

This was a wonderful surprise when I followed a little sign from the Canyon lodge through some trees out to a parking lot then another sign and wow what a spectacular view. Went back to the car and spent half a day at various vistas viewing the upper and lower falls and the rock formations. Don't stop just once be amazed and go on but you will get much more if you drive to the different sites. In the summer the place is packed but these spots not so much. You can park kind of close and see a lot.

This is a tremendous hike. You could hike for a short time or for hours. The views are absolutely incredible. It was a little buys, but it was WELL worth the price of admission and (which is free).

This is a great falls and best seen when the light is right, the morning, if the sun is shining to get the best photos. Only a short drive from Canyon Village. This combined with the North Rim Drive (Lower Falls) and South Rim, where the Upper Falls are.
Do take the hikes to the different viewing points at both Lower and Upper Falls.

Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is totally different from GCNP! A hike from the parking lot (top) to bottom view deck is a bit tiring for those who are not used to walking but a few rest along the way will do. This place is highly recommended since it is a bit different from other parts of the park.

It's just so beautiful it almost doesn't seem to be a real place. More like walking into a painting. It just seems so grand and so stunning that it is hard to believe the world is this lovely. It is.

You must go! Google maps is showing that the middle road between Norris and the Canyon village is closed but as the end of April road is OPEN and will save you at least 1:30h each way ( from west entrance to the canyon)
This place is unbelievably majestic

Nice scenic views of mountain gorges and winding river with rapids and waterfalls. Nothing overly dramatic or spell binding but worth seeing if you are in the park.

Best time to see the area is early in the morning. Better light for photos and beat the crowds. Even with Covid-19 many people were not wearing masks and closer than they should be. Incredible views with easy hikes. Do a little or a lot you won't regret your time here.

Stunning views at Artist Point.
It is an easy hike from the parking area.
There are more challenging hikes in the area too.

This was our first stop in Yellowstone and we were glad we made the drive from the west entrance! We also saw a huge bull elk off the side of the road on our way to the falls, and a bison just a few feet from the parking lot!

Wonderful amazing day. Fun, informative, and overall spectacular. Wouldn't see Yellowstone with any other company!

Awe inspiring. Great areas for photos and views. We drove up from the South Rim to Artists Point - thoroughly recommend. Be aware the restrooms are not available at Artists Point.

The Canyon is a must see for sure. It’s so beautiful , spectacular on the winter I can imagine in the summer when you can go down there. It’s close to the upper fall , and the way to there is full of life and scenic points.

Did a tour along the rim, very interesting seeing the canyon and waterfalls. Highly recommend doing the north rim and the viewing platforms near each of the falls.

This is a site that you have to see. Even if you can't walk up or down the trails it is awe inspiring. There are many pull outs with tremendous views. We were there early in the season without a lot of other tourists and I think that made it better.

There was so much natural beauty to see here, and it covered more than one "attraction." This area was a must see for me and my wife. The canyon was vast, and the views changed every few feet. (We have not yet seen the Grand Canyon, but want to) The distant roar of the river could be heard from on top of the canyon. We enjoyed this area immensely.

I Think it’s from artist point, the view is incredible. Not for fainted heart for sure but if you are up to it, definitely walk to the inspiration point. Top experience

This canyon provides a gorgeous backdrop for viewing the spectacular Yellowstone Falls. Beautiful photographic opportunities.

The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is a must see when visiting Yellowstone National Park. There is a south rim and a north rim so be sure you see them both. The best views are from Artist Point but walk along the south rim trail to see both the upper and lower falls. Drive along the north rim and stop and view the lookouts along the roadway making your way to inspiration point. The colors in the canyon are amazing and it is easy to see why they call this area "yellowstone". Go early or late for best colors.

This was one of the highlights of our visit to Yellowstone National Park, which is really saying something as ALL of Yellowstone is amazing! The views are breathtaking and well worth the visit! We loved it so much, we went back a second time to get a different view and more pictures. Just beautiful!

Amazing canyon for the shape of the valley, the colors and the size of waterfalls. It may not be as tall as Grand Canyon, it may not be as colorful as Bryce, it may not have the same quantity of water as the Niagara Falls, but the combination of colors, water and deepness on top of the possibility to descent to the brink of both upper and lower falls, it makes it a unique place.
Various trails are around and above the falls. I would not miss the two brinks and some of the other overlook trails. The brinks requires to go up and down few hundreds feet, but it is definitively worth.

After spending several days in Yellowstone, this was on the agenda for the last day of sightseeing. WOW - What a great way to end my visit. The views are beyond amazing, bring a camera but don't forgot to just soak up the experience. As other reviews mentioned, check out both the upper and lower falls if you have time but be prepared for steep paved trails to the lower falls. Explore some of the other dirt trails too if you can. Definitely a must do if you are in Yellowstone.

Yellowstone made it easy to view the falls even for those with impaired mobility. There are several options for viewing. There was even a stairway to get almost to the river.

We came here about midday on our first day in the park and the timing was perfect. There is a North Rim Drive and a South Rim Drive and each have multiple places to stop. I would recommend both drives and all the stops. You get a slightly different perspective at each place and a different way to see the sheer beauty of the canyon.

Awesome experience to view for breathtaking pictures!!!! I’m horribly afraid of heights, but taking pictures was not bad!!!! I never even knew it existed!!

I was surprised to see that this was the #1 thing to do in Yellowstone National Park. After seeing it, I see why everyone gives it 5 stars, but to rank it over Old Faithful, I think not. The Yellowstone River carved this incredible 1000’ gorge with its steep beautifully colored rock sides. It has not one, but two beautiful waterfalls. Part of the charm is the easy accessible short paths that are right off the parking lots which lead to short walks to perfectly placed viewing platforms. If you just have time to see one side, do the South Rim Drive. Stop at the Upper Falls Viewpoint for a nice view, but the best spot is Artist Point. Here you will find a huge multitiered observation area where each level is better than the last. It got its name from a famous painting by Thomas Moran. Best time to visit is early in the morning for best light, but we were there about noon and it was glorious. We were going to go back in the morning but it was so foggy when we left Canyon Lodge, there was no way we could see anything. Next, a separate stop is the Brink of the Upper Falls. Here you get to see the top of those same falls going over. You get to see and feel the power up close. Then there is the North Rim Drive with Grand View Lookout of the Lower Falls and Inspiration Point.

We visited Yellowstone recently and really loved the views from the Grand Canyon area. The waterfalls were so beautiful and it really wasn't that crowded the first week in June. Highly recommend.

The grand canyon is a must see. There are several vantage points to see the falls and the canyon itself. If you can walk down to the brink of the lower falls, do it, but, remember you must walk back up. Also, if you are walking on the boardwalks, remember to stay single file and be courteous to others. Artist Point is a beautiful vantage point. Highly recommend!
Awesome Falls !! Don't miss
This was a great place to stop for the view of the falls . Go early no traffic . There was a lot of people who just would not more out of the way to take a picture . The path is paved and easy to walk .
