Gurnee Mills Mall Santa - TOTALLY AWFUL!!

By lelaChicago |

The description on the site did NOT specify that parents could not take video/pictures. The lady was so belligerent about it, she blocked me from even seeing my grandchild at all!! Totally ruined what should have been a fun experience.
Skip the mall entirely. Just go to Bass Pro (has own entrances and parking) and get a reservation pass for when you want to see Santa. They not only will give you a free photo, plus a cute wooden sled frame, but will let you take pictures and video! Additionally, they have set up a few activities for the kids. Sweet and helpful elves. TOTALLY WONDERFUL experience!

Good anchor stores

By emesk |

The food court facelift has definitely helped to make this mall a little more appealing, but the anchor stores are really the ones I visit most. Good bargains are to be found throughout the mall though.
Best days to shop are weekdays. Saturdays are too busy and parking can be a problem. The new parking bays near Bed, Bath and Beyond; near entrances B and F are definitely not an improvement. There always full.

Nothing left there

By Rick S |

Most of the off price stores are gone, there are really no outlet mall values here. Go a little farther north to the Outlets in Pleasant Prarie, still some good deals there. Food at the Mills is bad as well

Great mall

By Ambassador238884 |

I've been to this mall every time that I've been in town. Lots of great stores to choose from. Something for everyone!

nice mall

By tyoung45 |

Very nice mall to shop at kind of small though but nice. A lot of nice restaurants around the mall a suburban area

In transition...

By Christopher T |

I live about a mile from Gurnee Mills, and I do frequent them often. The mall is currently planning a major renovation... and it can't come soon enough.

The one area of the mall that has been renovated - where Macy's is located - is beautiful, but it shows how outdated other areas of the mall are. And while I like shopping there, the mall needs work. It always seems like restaurants are coming and going in the two dining areas, but the one closest to the movie theater is getting to be a bit of a ghost town (though they are opening a Gloria Jean's there soon). Similarly, there is precious little on that end of the mall that really seems to attract shoppers (though there are still some good stores, like Books-A-Million, and the new Dick's Sporting Goods is very nice). Sorry, gang, but Floor & Decor - while a nice enough store - is not enough to immediately get me into that end of the mall. A strong anchor is needed... but the problem is there aren't many stores left which would qualify as that.

If you've never been there, you'll want to make sure you have comfortable shoes on, as it is quite extensive. Round-trip, it's approximately one and three-quarter miles.

I understand that shopping malls in general are having difficulties getting people in as online shopping takes off... but there is still something to be said for going to a store and getting what I want to own the same day. No online experience will ever replace that, and while Gurnee Mills has been a staple of our family life since we've lived in Gurnee, I can only hope that the planned renovations will breathe some well-needed life into a two-decade old shopping center.

Nice Place

By gymdoggrams |

Lots of stores for every taste. Really though, I didn't think some stores had great bargains. Worth checking it out though.

HUGE Mall

By A M |

This mall is SO huge but they have a lot of good outlet shops. I really enjoyed the outlets for kids clothes and sportswear. The mall also had some good restaurants.

Gynormous Mall

By msdeelr58 |

Many stores for a variety of tastes. I do think that they shouldn't refer to it as an outlet mall since many of the stores do not have "outlet" prices nor are they actual "outlet" stores. Over the years it has changed and there are maybe 25-30% actual outlet stores. Put on your comfy shoes because there is a lot of ground to cover if you want to do the entire mall. There are a couple of food courts, movie theaters and an ice rink with a large arcade should you want to take time out to relax after a day of shopping. It's not far from Six Flags and Key Lime Cove. Great Lakes Naval base is not too far away so you will see many uniformed naval recruits strolling thru the mall. Weekends are pretty crowded so you may have to prepare for a hike to your car. For the best shopping experience, weekdays are the best days to visit. If you can't find what you need in the mall, there are plenty of strip malls and restaurants along Grand Ave.

Huge mall but few outlets

By esd87 |

Great place to visit overall, with more than enough stores and restaurants to keep you busy for hours. I wouldn't call it an outlet mall, as only 25-40% of the stores were actual outlets. The only frustrating part of the mall is the design - it's a long zig-zag pattern, so in order to get back to your vehicle there is a LOT of walking involved.

Shopping at Gurnee Mills mall

By Kuldip M |

Great factory outlet stores and prices. You can find almost all the brands at a reasonable price. Saks fifth Avenue has kind of different inventory which is totally different as an upscale store.

First time Visit

By ConnieCraig1970 |

Definitely get your walking in. Plenty to see and do. Definitely get there early. You will need the time to get through the whole mall.

Great stores

By LaToyoa M |

This mall has a wide variety of stores to choose from. I've been to malls that only have a select few. The discounts are great as well. I was looking for a particular store when I moved here and this mall had it! (The Shoe Depot). I recommend going early in the day because it gets very crowded, especially on weekends.

Fun for adults, not very kid friendly

By Luka F |

the only play area for kids is too crowded. it would have been nice to have more room. Food choices are okay, but the layout of the mall is such a pain! if you live in gurnee its a convienient place.

Shopping

By Janice W |

all the stores but quite a walk from one end to the other. All one level. 2 food courts one at each end does help.

In town for a wedding.

By Madina M |

I love this mall, so many stores. The Nike Outlet store didn't have a nice variety of shoes but lots of discount clothing. One of my favorite malls!

I used to like it now it is like any other mall

By firebird350 |

I live close to this mall so it is a place I am familiar with. It is showing its age. What I don't get is that they redid one long hall of the mall and not anything else. That side is beautiful. However, a lot of the stores I used to shop are gone. No longer an "outlet" mall which is what I used to like it for, it is now a regular mall that is really picked over because of the amount of people that visit.
I usually park near the store I want to go into and don't walk around too much. Since it is the only mall in the area for us it is okay. It is a must if you are visiting. Just because it is so big.

Trashy and low class

By K G |

This is not a nice mall. It is large and has plenty of stores, but not very nice stores. It has a different feel than a normal mall and the clientele has much to be desired. Skip this place unless you really need to buy something.

Lots of stores

By Betty |

This mall has lots of stores and is ginormous; however, the only disadvantage is it is so big you have to lug your packages and go back to your vehicle. Some of the stores are outlets stores while others are regular stores.

OK Macys

By johntpt |

We stopped in at the Macy's here which seemed small and not that well stocked. When it was time to pay we had to wait a good while as not many clerks were available.

Way to big

By dadstoy |

A very large single level mall. Lots of variety. Not a high end mall. Tries to be a discount mall with high end names at discount prices. Not my favorite mall. I have no problems with large malls but easier to navagate when they are multi levels. Been to mall of america mall outside of minnapolis thats larger by alot thats easier

Tired, run down. Baffling layout punishes you for not parking close to a given store

By Mark B |

Avoid this mall at ll costs. It looks awful. Ragged and tired. The usual sprinkling of restaurants ring the mall.

I can't stress enough how horrible this giant Z-shaped mall was planned. Research ahead of time where you might visit, and park near that spot. And then never come back again.

I do like the Marcus Theater, which is easy to visit, as it doesn't require one to step foot in the mall.

Avoid this mall, and its stretch of Grand Avenue, during the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Going to the Movies

By Amy S |

I rarely go see a movie but teenage grandson got bored. The theater is more like a large family screening room. Only 100 seats that were comfortable and not overcrowded. This is a great mall with so much to do. Small kids are fascinated by the fish display at Bass Pro which is fun and free unless your husband is a fishing junkie

Fun Large Mall!!

By Candace M |

What a great place to visit! Our family went to Northern Chicago for Navy graduation, looking for something to do, we went to this mall, while there we went to the movies, did some shopping, my son even stop and got a haircut.

Love Gurnee Mills..

By 2nheaven |

this is a nice clean shopping center with every kind of retail store you can think of...they also have a food court with all kinds of great food and snack, they even have a theatre, you can spend the whole day here with your family.

Had a great time

By Kelly Cathcart |

I had not been to this mall since the 1990's so it felt like an all new experience. The mall is a typical outlet mall in that basically none of the stores are true outlet stores, but everyone had some really good deals. The variety of stores was nice. There were a few I wasn't familiar with, so I enjoyed that. It is all one level so that is good and bad since it is so big it takes for ever to get back to your start point to get your car.
The building it's self was in decent repair. There was a wing that looked really old, worn out and dirty. Hopefully it is on the list of repairs. There was a food court in each wing. I was surprised to not see a Mc Donald's or similar places. There was enough variety between the 3 for my group of 7 to be happy.
There is a huge arcade, ice rink, movie theater and a ping pong hall. so lots of activities for families to enjoy.
The doors were labeled nicely on the outside with letters, but not on the inside so when I came around to pick up a handicap member of my group there was a little confusion as to what door to got to. I also was un-able to find a place to rent a wheel chair or a scooter for that person.
Over all we all had a good time and will go back.

LEGO STORE!

By Ginger F |

LEGO store is always a winner for our family. The guys working there also gave our boys some nice freebies.
We also visited the Toys R Us, Game Stop, and f.y.e.
Nicely maintained mall with a good variety of stores. We were there on a weekday (Wed.) and it was nice to have some quiet without the crowds (after being in Chicago the day before).

nice mall crazy shopping

By wheelchairandeye |

Thank god for the Mall where u have all the not so expensive departmental stores Under One Roof you have Marshalls you have Kohl's you have Macys Sears ....one can go mad shopping there and spend the whole day

Amazing stores and amazing deals!

By cookerlooker |

You can really score big at many of the stores here! The Vans Outlet has excellent deals on top quality shoes, bags, etc. Burlington Coat Factory is also an amazing place to find wonderful bargains across the entire store.

Nice Outlet Mall

By Jim M |

This is a pretty nice outlet mall with good national quality outlets like Nordstrom Rack and Off Fifth by Sax. For a week nite before Black Friday it appeared the stores were readying with inventory for the late Thursday or Early Friday shopping frenzy.

Nice place to shop till drop

By himanshu20 |

1) Decent number of brands under one roof.
2) Good play areas for kids
3) Good variety of restaurants in food court.
4) Good for Fashion shopping

A mall is a mall…

By Sairabee |

This was the first time I had been to Gurnee Mills in about 15 years. It's still a great mall, but seems to be moving away from outlet stores and toward mainstream mall shops. I still miss the JC Penney outlet anchor store… that made it a great stop. Now it's not a lot different from most any other mall.

Huge Mall

By dadkins |

We stopped by the mall to look for a sweater. There are a variety of stores and it has a food court on both ends. We could not get through the mall due to it being so large. It also has recreation and a movie theater. Definitely something for everyone!

So, it's a mall

By CoasterHiker1991 |

This was something to do before heading back to Indiana on Labor Day. Being a scorcher of a day and Labor Day, everybody and there mother was walking all over the mall. It's basically your normal mall with the typical Finish Line, Victoria's Secret, Macy's, etc. It does have a Bass Pro Shop, but we didn't have loads of money to drop on camping or fishing gear. Neiman's is still not affordable even as an outlet. I did find it odd that some stores were outlets and some normal. Like the outlet leather store had some $30 super clearance jackets. But then Saks was just around the corner with $500 clearance evening gowns. Visiting the mall was definitely something to do and good exercise, but it's still just a mall. It might have been 90 degrees out, but I would have preferred crossing the highway and dropping sixty bucks to stand in line at SF Great America...

Rundown mall

By Carlos C |

Large provincial mall which has definitely seen better times. I visited on a Sunday and the mall was less than half full. 3 hours is enough.

Many shops closed, many non-outlet shops and many normal local shops. Shops of well-known labels such as Hilfiger, Nike, Adidas are much smaller than elsewhere.
Nevertheless I found some good deals.

Bottom line: Yes, why not, but don't invest more than 45 min to get there. And don't expect too much.

Great deals

By David C |

Bin about 10 years since I was last there. Great deals and prices. Specifically the puma entire store was 75 percent off which was amazing.

Getting tired

By biztravelerChicago |

This "outlet" mall is showing its age. Plenty of stores, but you'll probably find better quality and prices by just watching for sales at a regular mall. Lots of "manufactured for outlet" goods, shop-worn stuff and "brand names" you've never heard of. Layout makes no sense from the perspective of efficient shopping. Mall arrangement of the halls is such that you can't really make a loop and you're backtracking where you've already been to get to another section. Some decent stores if you're in the area and need something specific, but I wouldn't make a special trip thinking you're going to get bargains. All on one level and fully accessible.

Fantastic mall, so so food court.

By Jay S |

The mall is very accommodating and has everything that almost all age ranges could ask for. Seems as though the food courts are in transition of updating and acquiring more to choose from.

Excellent Place to Find Discounts

By CharlieV2011 |

This mall is like going to any other regular mall, but what makes it better is that it is a discount mall! There are great name brands at awesome prices. Recently, I was able to find $50 name brand shorts for $17, work button up long sleeve shirts for less than $20 (regular price $40). $50 name brand sweaters for less than $10! You cannot beat these prices! The best time to go is early morning, during the week, if you like having the mall to yourself; or during a holiday (July 4, Labor Day, etc.), where there are even BETTER deals! Do not forget to splurge at the Jamba Juice or Starbucks located inside!

lots of options

By orrdrake@comcast.net |

We live so close we could walk here, as I have. A great place to get in a walk indoors, too. Several large anchor stores and many smaller shops, including a large movie multiplex.

Six flags and shopping

By michaeltlewis1 |

Me and the boy went the day after we went to six flags. Huge mall. Not over crowded. Lots of stores. Just don't get lost and remember where ya parked.

Fun place to shop

By Julie K |

My husband and I visit this Mall every year. We make a weekend out of it. Love the variety of stores. It’s clean and most recently has been updated. I was surprised to see so many stores closing but I’m sure they’ll be replaced with something bigger and better. My husband never steps out of Bass Pro Shop! There is plenty of things to do and plenty of places to eat.

Shopping!!!

By PJacks409 |

Do you love to shop!!! A lot of great shops in this mall; a good food court as well. Be care you may spend a lot!!!!

super sized and a fine way to shop

By smatjapan |

all the usual outlets and some are true outlets, not just special items looking like real deals. wide assortment of good and restaurants inside. could take hours,if wanted. even men can enjoy some specialty mens' sporting shops.

Nice place to shop

By 3gautamk |

This is a good place to spend the day. Has lots of top stories and brands with discounts all year long. Food court and movie theater included. As it is single story it is a long walk so park near the entrance of where you would like to go..

Our Go-to Theater!

By opusinprogress |

Wonderfully comfy seats, advance seating and ticketing - rewards.... what's not to like? We especially love $5 Tuesdays.

Much Improved Mall

By Lynne P |

For approximately 12 years I have stayed away from Gurnee Mills. The mall felt dark, dirty,, and unappealing. Now Gurnee Mills is the complete opposite.

The mall feels warm, bright, and a great place to shop, walk around, and let's not forget
"people watch"!! If you should desire food, the Food Court has it all.

Your selection of stores cover all areas i.e. Bed Bath & Beyond, Kohl's, Macy's, Home Goods, and, numerous shoe stores, clothing stores. There is also a movie theater and an indoor ice skating rink available.

Large and well kept.

By David J |

The Mills have been open for about twenty years now. It has had a recent upgrade to the wing that ends with Macy's. Many of the stores are the same ones you see in any large mall. The Mills does have a large cinema with lots of screens.

Great mall

By Ed B |

We stopped by after Navy Boot Camp graduation with our son and his wife. Did some shopping and the had some pizza.

Great Selection of Stores

By Laura K |

Nice, clean mall. Tons of Stores to choose from, including some outlet stores. Good food selection as well. Enjoyed our visit.

Great place to spend a day

By Taylor B |

We live in downtown Chicago so a trip to Gurnee Mills means leaving early to avoid rush hour traffic going north and staying late to avoid rush hour traffic going south. Which translates into shopping in the morning, a break for lunch, shopping in the afternoon, then an early dinner before embarking for home. It's a full and often exhausting day. But if you plan it right and you know what you are looking for, it can be very enjoyable. Our only complaint? Gurnee Mills could use a larger and more diverse food court, more restaurants. Certainly it has the room to expand. Gurnee Mills, which opened in 1991, is a single-level, Z-shaped indoor mall located at 6170 West Grand Avenue in Gurnee, a village west of Waukegan and near Six Flags Great America amusement park. Covering nearly two million square feet, it is the third largest mall in Illinois, is advertised as the largest outlet and value shopping destination in the state (at the intersection of I-94 and Grand Avenue or Route 132) and is visited by more than 20 million people each year. It contains 200 stores, including 19 anchor tenants. The major stores are Macy's, Kohl's, H&M, Burlington Coat Factory, Bass Pro Shops, Bed Bath & Beyond, Forever 21, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Sports Authority, Value City Furniture and Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse. Catch a movie at Gurnee Marcus Cinema. You also can participate in indoor ice skating, miniature golf and laser tag at Rink Side Sports and Entertainment. It all adds up to a lot of walking, which means it is important to set aside a lot of time to shop and take breaks to catch your breath. It would be an added benefit if Gurnee Mills added a few more restaurants. At the moment, there are only four--Buffalo Wild Wings, Portillo's, Rainforest Cafe and Ruby Tuesday. Planet Hollywood came and went. Even a McDonald's or Wendy's or Burger King or Pizza Hut or White Castle or Maid-Rite would be welcome. We always enjoy Ruby Tuesday because of the wonderful salad bar.

Family Reunion

By Jax517 |

It's always nice to have an outlet mall nearby your hotel..Its very convenient and we had fun walking around the stores

Huge mall!

By Ryan O |

Extremely large mall with everything you can think of! Plan on spending a long time at this mall as it has a large number of stores! I recommend checking it out if you have a chance!

Too Much Gang Activity

By J J |

This mall is going downhill. Gangs hang out there. They'll leave you alone, but it's not high on my list of safe places. The mall isn't as clean (housekeeping clean) as it used to be either. Kind of a grungy place. Nearby Vernon Hills' Hawthorn Mill is cleaner - and doesn't have the gang problem.

Disappointing.

By Lisa J |

This mall is dark, dirty and scary. Stores are low-end and sell cheap merchandise. Was hopeful that Macy's would be okay, but that store was understaffed and sloppily kept. Clothes on the floor and just a messy place. So disappointed. The "cherry on top" was when all the police squad cars showed up looking for a criminal. I felt very unsafe and will never go back. Malls are dying a slow death anyway.

Shopping Heaven

By Bosha73 |

I spent around a full day and still didn't finish it. you have everything you need , shopping , cinema , games , eating options . It got a huge A&F + Holister shop that you cannot miss . I love it and i make sure to visit whenever i am in Chicago.

Shopping at Gurnee Mills

By Pavel S |

Good mall for shopping or just killing time and walking around. There are a lot of different stores there and mainly with reasonable prices. Was here many times and first time over 15 years ago, what I noticed the mall used to be much cleaner. It's very big so be ready to walk a lot between different stores where you can find something for everybody.

Layout not the best

By Frank M |

Layout is a little funky (shaped like a 'z') so if you are looking for a store you might have to walk twice as much to get to the store and back. Once you get to know the mall you just park near the store and go in to shop. They have the usual anchors, Bass Pro Shop, Khols and Sears along with a bunch of smaller shops. If you need to get your walking in during winter or when it's raining this is a great place to do it.

My favourite place to shop!

By Gailey67 |

Did not realise my hotel was walking distance to Gurnee Mills - what a bonus. Love going there and such wonderful bargains to boot.

Located Near Dangerous Environmental Hazard

By Rosie7070 |

Unfortunately this shopping mall is located near two plants that emit cancer causing gases into the air. (It's called EtO; google Stop Eto Lake County for info). Most visitors are unaware of the public safety hazard. Many locals I know avoid shopping here and go to Pleasant Praire Outlet mall in Wisconsin instead, which is about 15 minutes away

Sprawling Retail Complex

By Suzanne S |

This mega mall has morphed over the years. It's less discount and more retail now than when it first opened in the 90's. More recently it has added full retail anchors like Macy's and Kohl's to boost it's traffic. There are two food courts, ice skating, movies and plenty of space for indoor walkers. Ruby Tuesday's and Rain Forest Cafe have separate sit-down restaurants. There are plenty of other restaurant choices in the out-lots and up and down Grand Avenue.

you'll find it here

By Peach T |

looking for something specific?? this mall hall hundreds of stores, most outlets, which means great prices!! you will find what your looking for here. and a few wonderful restuarants to take a break at.. this is miles of walking, also great excersize area. please make sure you have all day, for this is how large this mall is.

Gurnee Mills gives it to you straight

By Taylor B |

Gurnee Mills Mall in Gurnee, Illinois, is unique to other malls in several ways. First, it is located directly across the street from Six Flags Great America, one of the country's grandest amusement parks. Second, unlike most malls that have a "track and looping" fashion, a straight walk design is the theme at Gurnee Mills, allowing visitors to enter the mall from one end, enjoy their shopping and end you visit at the other end. Third, it is the Midwest's largest value retail and entertainment mall with over 200 manufacturer and retail outlet stores. Fourth, it has two international food courts containing nearly 30 eateries. Fifth, the Marcus Cinema theater complex contains 20 screens. Sixth, it is anchored by 16 stores, not three or four as is the case with most malls. They are Sears Grand, Bass Pro Shops, Macy's, Kohl's, Marshalls Home Goods, Value City Furniture, Bed Bath & Beyond, Neiman Marcus Last Call, Saks Fifth Avenue Off Fifth, T.J. Maxx, Sports Authority, Marcus Theatres, Shoppers World, Burlington Coat Factory and Rink Side Sports. Where to begin? Gurnee Mills, opened in 1991, is an indoor mall that covers 1.9 million square feet. It contains 200 stores and restaurants, is the third largest mall in Illinois and is visited by more than 20 million people each year. Full service restaurants include Ruby Tuesday, Corner Bakery Cafe and Rainforest Cafe. The Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World is a 133,000-square foot space with a 30,000-gallon fresh water aquarium, archery and shooting ranges and fishing demonstrations. Kids can even receive ice hockey and ice skating lessons. Other retail stores include Nike, JC Penney, Banana Republic, Abercrombie & Fitch, Gap, Levi's, Polo and Nautica. Honestly, there are more things for youngsters to do at Gurnee Mills than any other mall in the Chicago area, including the larger Woodfield in Schaumburg. How about Serpent Safari's indoor reptile exhibit and Rink Side Sports Family Entertainment Center's $1.5 million of video and arcade games for families and children of all ages?

Good mall but far away

By Ana_Carol_Martins |

Very good stores, good prices but far away from downtown Chicago. Too much traffic. Need all day to spend there.

Great shopping place

By Alan G |

We spent a rainy Friday going through this mall. We found some good prices and filled the trunk of our car. Kohls and Marshals opened at nine so we shopped there until the mall opened at ten.

Not my First Choice

By Dogwalker45 |

Three are only a select few shops within Gurnee Mills that I feel are worth the visit....Kohls, Macy's, Bed,Bath and Beyond, and Home Goods....many of the other stores have a lower quality and selection

Sisters weekend

By ADolores |

Met my sisters for a weekend of visiting and shopping. Gurnee Mills turned out to be a great place for our time together. Shops are very good with a nice selection. We just had to keep reminding ourselves that not all the shops were Outlets. However we did find some great values.

Okay mall with a variety of shops

By Sandra W |

The mall was a mix between outlet shops and regular ones. I guess it's good for families since they have a bit of everything.

Big Disappointment

By bronandcasey |

Very bland and dull large shopping mall. We decided to stay in Gurnee based on the Outlet Mall being there and were very disappointed in the style, lack of colours and general feel on neglect. It was the week before halloween and we thought that the mall may be a little more festive. What we found instead was a characterless mall with no music or festivities happening anywhere in the mall. Some people may be able to find good bargains but we weren't one of them.

Nice mall

By Claribel P |

I like it very much when i visited my family in Chicago. I think it can invite large shops
Like Macy's or JC Penney, but i like it

So much better!

By Linda C |

For a while it seemed as if Gurnee Mills was going down the drain but whoever bought it has done a tremendous job of cleaning it up and turning it around. I always loved going to Gurnee Mills when it first opened just to walk around - cheap entertainment. Then it got a little shady but the comeback now is AWESOME! It is clean and safe and once again I love just walking around.

Hasn't changed much.

By David D |

Last visited there nearly 20 years ago, and not much changed. Lots of parking, numerous stores for almost every need. Just there really only for the Rainforest Cafe.

very large, one-level, z-shaped mall

By illinois travelere |

Open every day from 10:00 a.m. till 9:00 p.m.

When Gurnee Mills opened in 1991, it was just as large and exhausting -- but WAY more interesting.....and had WAY more bargains. It actually caused the demise of another nearby shopping center. (Alas, poor Lakehurst!)

Nowadays, they are trying very hard to regain their destination- mall status, and there is a mix of food, shopping, and entertainment.

There are two food courts. One has a Subway, Cajun Grill, S'barro, Burger King, China Kitchen, Japan Cafe, Oliver's Chicken, Charley's Philly Steaks (and I think Red Mango -- but there is for sure a Red Mango SOMEWHERE in the mall). The other food court (near the movie theater) has Little Tokyo, Villa Italian Kitchen, Burger King, Oliver's Chicken, Subway, Great Steak, Cajun Grill, Auntie Anne's, Gelato Mio, and Cinnabon/Carvel Ice Cream. There are also snack places all over the mall and Gloria Jean is opening soon.

The best deals may be at Chicago Woodfire Pizza. Wednesday features all you can eat woodfire pizza for $7 a person, and Thursday features all you can eat deep dish pizza for $10 per.

There are two $5 photo booths (can pay with credit card).

There is also an ice rink, an arcade, a Marcus movie theater, Asian massage places, an Escape Game ($30 per player, minimum 4), etc.

The stores include the destination Bass Pro Shop, Macy's, a new $10 women's store -- Mandee, Dick's, H & M, It's Sugar (candy, candy, candy), LEGO, and so on.

There are still a few genuine outlet stores -- like Corningware, Disney, Saks -- plus off-price retailers, Marshall's and Home Goods.

The ultimate goal is to create a genuine hybrid shopping center -- with the perfect balance of full-price and bargain shopping, plus food and entertainment. Meanwhile, you can sit and charge your phone when the almost two-million square feet of mall finally wear you down.

Good mall

By Broncogirl |

It’s been sometime since I last been here.. what happen to the outlet stores? Brought my daughter(12yr) here for it was her 1st time. We walked the mall did alittle shopping stopped at the massage place in mall and we both enjoyed a 30min massage( her 1st one) it was very good. She can’t wait to do it again! We walked the whole mall in like 2hrs.. this mall seemed bigger years ago! We still had a good time!

Shop shop and more shopping

By caley22 |

We shopped at the mall for 2 days. We purchased from several shops and the stores were clean and friendly.

EVERYTHING IN ONE PLACE

By kayboom53 |

I live 20 minutes from Gurnee Mills. I have been there many, many times. There are several very good stores to choose from. Kohls, Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Sears, to name a few. They have a couple of food courts with many choices. And it is great if you just want to get some walking exercise. I think for an outlet mall some of the prices are too high.

Stay Away From Marcus Cinema

By Brian |

I use to go here all the time and it went down hill. Its been about a year since I have come back. I went the other night for the Ultra Screen to see Star Wars and was pleasantly surprised how much I liked it with the new chairs. I went back today to try out the 4D theater and it was a nightmare far worse then what kept me away for a year. I got to the theater 35 minutes ahead on time, at 3:10pm and it was packed and there was no organization to the lines, which were out the door. They have two ticket booths, one to the left, one to the right, one had two cashiers, one had three cashiers. Unfortunately, the entire time I was in line, the cashiers, being either new or incompetent, were the slowest set of cashiers ever, and I got Mary, the slowest of the slow. Between the two ticket areas are two kiosks. Everyone seemed to be in the wrong line, people who wanted to buy tickets with cash were in the kiosk line, getting upset because they were so far back and waiting so long already, they had no idea, some people already bought tickets and were told they had to wait in the kiosk line to confirm them, which was not correct, lots of hostile people there. The fact is their management stinks and maybe if their cashiers were properly trained and moving faster rather then gabbing with every customer and moving slower then a snail, maybe they could have done some line managing so it wasn't complete chaos and a fire hazard rather then hover over their poorly trained employees being pretty useless. When I finally got close, the people in front of me were all going to see different films, part of a family and they didn't know what they wanted to see and the times of things so for ten solid minutes, they tried to figure it out, what were you doing that whole time? The cashier should have taken the next people while they decided rather then hold up literally hundreds of people, I got to the cashier 40 minutes after getting in line, five minutes after the film I wanted to see started and I knew exactly what I wanted only to be told there were a handful of really bad seats left. I left out of frustration and I will never go back to this theater. Round Lake is by far better, better organization, better service, they may not have the super high tech theaters, but I'd go there any day of the week before I go back to Marcus in Gurnee and their free for all style of management.

Something for everyone

By 3daughters888 |

This mall is a great place to visit. Besides the stores and eateries, there is a movie theater, an escape room, and a skating rink. Definitely worth the trip if you want to take in a lot in one day.

Just A Stop

By John M |

Waiting on a movie it was nice to see more people out and also people spending money. This has almost everything you might need and also a really good theater

A Great Mall

By doncroop |

A great mall. Lots to see and do. The people watching was great. All kinds of people from everywhere. The Bass Pro Shop was the highlight of it all for me. It was a great experience.

Something for everyone

By Mickie M |

Good variety of stores in this mall with other entertainment options - arcades, ice skating, movie theater, etc. Mall was clean and safe with mall type fast food options. Could do with more sit down, nicer restaurant options.

Da Fam

By LadyLikeTea W |

I enjoy shopping at Gurnee Mills. The mall has a huge variety of stores to choose from and a huge variety of restaurants located inside and outside of the Mills. I make sure I go twice a year after the season changes.

Tons of stores inside this huge mall

By SBD |

Gurnee Mills has a lot of outlet stores. They have a food court, many restaurants like Ruby Tuesday and Rainforest Cafe, a game room, movie theater, and so much more. Some things you can find at bargain prices like at TJ Maxx or Burlington Coat Factory. If you need a break and want to get a mani/pedi, there are some places in there from which to choose. They have little play areas for the kids. Different events happen throughout the year like a train ride. Bass Pro/Outdoor World is part of the mall. They are dog friendly year round too. Bring your pup to customer service or the gun counter, and they'll give your fur baby a treat.

scary place to go

By John G |

This place is old and scary. if you need to shop go to Kenosha where it is newer, cleaner and brighter. Gurnee mills just does not look or feel family friendly.

Great Mall with great stores

By Marlyn J |

Gurnee Mills is close to Six Flags Great America, Key Lime Cove. Gurnee Mills offer you a variety of men's and women stores, Value City Furniture an awesome food court, please try Charley's Philly cheese steak.

Nice mall

By Alexa M |

Nice mall with a lot of stores to choose from. Very clean and up to date. Located about 15 minutes from the naval base.

Weekend shopping

By Mark K |

One of the biggest mall around Gurnee area a large selection shoes shops and clothes shops and burlenton and marshes and kols and it will take you at least two days to finish shopping the whole mall.
Found some great deals and bought suits for me for $140 from Tommy Hilfiger and clavin klein and great prices from Nb and Nike for running shoes for the kids and good prices for jeans from Hollister.
Would recommend to friends and family.

Nice place to shop

By Karen H |

The mall was clean, well kept. We enjoyed our time shopping. There are lots of stores and places for snacks or food. The atmosphere was very pleasant.

BIG,LONG MALL

By Tomas A |

Your above average mall with lots of great stores some outlet some not from big brand names to small unknown ones lots of walking some smaller places to eat in the food court and big popular restaurants all around outside the mall tons of them they also have a movie theater several screens also a huge arcade always something to do here great place to people watch bring comfy shoes and remember where you park the malls so huge all exits are marked with a letter from the alphabet 10 min drive from six flags GREAT America.

Average

By John N |

A few nice attractions but over all seems to be going down hill. Lots of options to eat, nice theaters, great Bass pro, but mall seemed a bit seedy in some areas. Need more healthy food options, security that inspires confidence (not insecuity). Improving image and experience will be key to the future.

Family Shopping Tradition

By Bryan P |

For the last five years me, my mother, brother and our significant others visit Gurnee Mills in December and it has become a holiday shopping tradition. There are so many great stores that we are able to make a day out it. The huge Bed, Bath & Beyond store always has some great deals that they do not have at my local store. I would of given it "Excellent", but they combined the Hollister and Abercrombie into one store with 1/4 of the clothing options the separate stores offered.

shopping

By disgusted16 |

There is a variety of stores in this mall for one to shop. Plenty of places to choose from to eat and shop. There is even 2 locations to stop and get a massage from, while one shops this mall. There is a lot of parking all around this mall.

Back to school shopping

By 317qianas |

We loved the Guess store most. We the whole mall. My daughter got her 2nd ear piercing and the lady at Claire's was very funny she knew her stuff. My baby loves them. Overall we may come back but I hope they add more stores. And the theatre cost to much.

Simon needs to get it together!

By chrisjX2046PC |

This mall has gone down hill tremendously. I don't know how anything stays open, we were there on a Saturday and there was barely anyone there. There are some great stores there that are listed as "outlet" but their prices are not any better then a regular store. You better learn what an "outlet" is... I won't go back, waste of time. And the layout of the mall is also terrible...

Big, big, big... the best is MARSHALLS

By ggpernia |

For a spanierd like me... it is quite big... big, big...
For me the best in this Commertial Centre is MARSHALLS.
Nice stuff, better prices.

I guess I'm just used to New York and Jersey malls.

By Elizabeth C |

The movie theater was pretty good.
though, and the eyebrow threading place was really very good!!
Food court was rather diverse, everyone was extremely polite.
Great seing so many young military walking through the mall on liberty.

sHOPPING

By Donna T |

The mall was clean and had a variety of stores, both outlet and regular. 2 food courts, and restaurants outside the mall as well.

Great place to mall walk in the winter months..... wish there was a higher quality of stores

By Kim C |

Gurnee mills is a great location but should have better quality stores to shop at. Macys is always disheveled compared to other Macys I’ve shopped at

Great shopping center

By deryamehmet |

You will find most common brands. Has a big H&M store. I like fossil store, they have other watch brands also with good prices. Food courts are good. There is movie theater inside. Since it is indoor good for cold weather.

Military discounts at most places

By Jasmine G |

I appreciate that they have military discounts at a lot of the places and there are a few shops to get your Sailor gifts or bootcamp graduation gifts. We live in the area and shop at Gurnee Mills for most everything. This is a big one story mall, so no elevators to all the places, just walking.

Good for shopping

By Nachoges |

If you are planning to do some shopping this is a great place to do it. Many shops and options including Macy's and other good brands

Half amazing, half not

By yonofchicago |

Gurnee Mall has two wings. One with designer stores and the other half independent stores (no name). There was another huge area that was empty. It housed Telemundo media. Nothing was going on there and that section of the mall was desolate. I would not return. The mall had many other stores that are everywhere else. There were sales but not enough for me to return. Plenty of parking. There is a huge Forever 21 and at the time an expansive clearance section.

WHAT A DUMP!

By northsub |

I wish they would close the entire place and renovate it. The stores are crappy, even the Macys needs a makeover. The Marshalls was decent but that's gone south. People loiter in the halls. It's a hang out place. It was purchase by The Simon Group years ago. Too bad they've done little with it to improve this mall. The area deserves better.

There are better mall destinations

By Lovethevacation |

Lots of stores here, sure. Not sure if this is still considered outlet or not. We couldn't find any deals. Nothing here that is unique. It's a pain that this mall is one long corridor and one floor. I was hoping it would wrap around. But once you get to the end you have to walk ALL THE WAY back. It's a far walk. Recommendation: park in the middle of the mall and decide on one end or the other.

Massage at the Mills

By Biker1955 |

I got to Accusage for Asian massage to help with neck and back pain. They are very clean, attentive and utmost attentive. While there I usually hit Sears for things for the home or clothes.

It's an interesting Z shaped mall.

By Andrew K |

Not as good as the the malls in Chicago. It's not multi level but a one level mall in the shape of a Z. The people who visit this mall are mostly Hispanic and was getting cut off and walked into by a few who just didn't care. The food court is interesting, because of the design, but doesn't have any of the popular fast food places. They do have a large colorful Rainforest Cafe. And plenty of rest areas at various points with comfy couches and chairs. Overall, worth stopping by to check out but not worth going to often.

Fun Shopping Trip

By Julie K |

My husband and I took off this weekend and went shopping at Gurnee Mills. Lots of good deals and many new stores. We had a ton of fun just hanging out!

By Jennifer W |

We have been going to the Gurnee Mills mall since my kids were little. Back then it was an annual trip, combining Christmas and school shopping. We always got really good deals and had fun seeing if we could make it through the whole mall in one day. Now that the kids are grown, we still try to get there once a year and it's still an enjoyable time. Some of the stores have changed through the years but there is always something for everyone and we still get great deals. Its definitely worth the 2 hour drive.

Love it

By val a |

Went a little shopping for the family .They have great deals but I couldn't find beat headphones .Maybe I just over looked them at some store in there.

Six flags was closed so came here

By Darlene H |

We were going to six flags but it was closed. So decided not to ruin the long ride. We shopped at the Outdoor rigging store. It's like a gander mountain store. Then moved on to the loft and pink. Then to a prom dress shop. We ate at the rainforest cafe. Then off for ice cream. It was still a good trip.

Lots of discounts!

By Stephanie C |

This is more of an outlet mall plenty of bargains! Lots of kid friendly play areas. It's easy to get around lots of direction signs to help you. If you need a listing for stores see website.

Quick trip for something specific.

By dmcarty |

Got in and out. Looks like some nice sales. Easy to navigate and good variety of merchants. They provide shuttle from military bases to the mall which is a nice touch.

If not for Bass Pro no way would I walk this outdated monster.

By Mohk M |

Older style mall with poor layout. Stores you find in all larger malls. Only Bass Pro was unique to this mall.

Free Time

By Swartz58 |

The mall is large and very accommodating. Every store we visited had wonderful customer service. The Red Mango had terrific fruit bowls, yogurt, and smoothies. The Disney Store had great sales and prices. I will visit this mall again should we go to North Chicago and Waukegan.

Huge mall, lots of stores and food

By Jule P |

A very large mall but not packed like our local malls so no elbowing. Very comfortable shopping. Lots of things to do in this mall. A very long walk from one end to the other.

Not your usual outlet mall

By Trojan263 |

This place is okay but does not compete with the normal Premium Outlet Mall. The shops need to be better. Having said this if you have a few hours to kill it's worth a visit

Shops at very good prices and outlets !

By Manuel C |

Very nice mall located mid between Chicago and Milwaukee being a very good option to finish a fantastic day at the close Six Flags !

Many may shops including Abercrombie and Fitch or Hollister outlets, Kenneth Cole, Forever 21, Hot Topic, Vans ...

And lunch or dine options at the Rainforest Cafe or at the food courts !

A regular mall, not an outlet mall

By Roger101052 |

Went because it was listed as one of three top outlet malls in Chicago area. Don't be fooled, it is just a regular mall and an overpriced one at that.

Shopping trip

By Ron C |

After having a nice lunch, my friend assisted me with a clothes buying afternoon.

The mall has a variety of outlet stores. I was able to find almost everything on my list at a fair price.

My friend also managed to find some items for her Son and well as indulging in her favorite popcorn.

We will return later in the year for more clothes and Christmas shopping.

Nice Quality Mall

By Mitch M |

Great place to shop! My girlfriend was very satisfied with the selection here. The whole mall is very clean.

Great place to shop!

By Ashley A |

Great variety of stores! I grew up making trips to Chicago frequently and have shopped here many times, will definitely be back!

Fun without even shopping

By aliepora22 |

We take the kids (5 and under) there when it's too cold outside to go to the park. Easy to park at bed bath beyond, cut through to the children's play area, and maybe have lunch too. Always clean, plenty of security walking/segway-ing around, and plenty of stores for all types of interest. Not a five star because the parking lot is a mine field of potholes and the entrances need to be updated (10+ years the same). At least they updated one of the two food courts.

Awesome Shopping

By andrewn572 |

Another very pleasant shopping day at this mall. It has a very great selection of stores and even better a nice selection of great deals. Disney had some great 50% and another 25% off of marked down items. Levi store had also some great deals as well as other stores. They have such a great selection of stores we spent 5 hrs there and did not seem to be enough time. If you get a chance to go shopping check this mall out you will not be disapointed.

Land of good deals!

By pvillejennie |

This outlet mall has a great location, near the highway and the borders of Illinois and Wisconsin. Easy in and easy out. A lot of big names stores, and easy layout between them. Movie theatre on site as well as the regular quick restaurants. Close enough to Six Flags for Mom to shop all day and Dad to take the kids to the amusement park!

Lots of stores, nasty bathrooms

By travelersixx |

Very disgusting bathrooms. Broken soap dispensers with no soap. Many stalls out of toilet paper and garbage all over the floor.

Very warm in the mall which made it uncomfortable. Lots of stores to pillage :)

Great shopping, eating, walking

By Vince S |

Gurnee Mills has a lot to offer.
There are a large variety of different shops and specialty stores to find most anything that you're looking for.
There are food courts as well as restaurants.
It is large enough that many people walk the mall for fresh air, exercise and the chance to find that truly outstanding deal.
There are perimeter restaurants and shops, ample parking, and there is easy access right off the toll way.
I lived in Gurnee 20 years and visited hundreds of times.

Huge mall, great window shopping

By Vicki Sugar Hill GA |

Spent several hours walking around this mall. My first impression was that it is huge!!! We didn't walk through the whole mall. There is plenty to do here be it shopping, walking, people watching or entertainment. There were alot of sailors in uniform shopping here and enjoying the mall. Our son too, had graduated 6/10 and was out enjoying the freedom of shopping and being in a mall after 9 weeks of boot camp.

This mall even has a ice skating rink and movie theater and loads of places to eat. A great way to spend a leisurely afternoon with the family. Can't comment on the prices as I didn't buy anything while here. We did enjoy the Bass Pro shop and the fish. Parking was not bad as we parked by Bass Pro since we knew that we would be exiting there. Mall is a little dated and could use some upgrades, but for a mall it is very nice and busy.

Great variety.

By Barbara S |

Their are shops for everyone young and old. Convenient parking, clean, easy navigation and average pricing. Bed Bath and Beyond is a favorite as well as Marshals.

Shop til you Drop

By Carolyn M |

My grandsons went to Fright Fest and I was shepherding them there and back home, and I needed to kill 8 hours of time. Admittedly I hate shopping but this was a nearby activity that would kill 3 hours time of my time.
The shopping was indoors, with lots of opportunities to shop discounted prices, clean, and, families seem to enjoy themselves there. I was surprised how large a footprint the center takes up so I got a lot of walking exercise. My rating is definitely biased as I am a none shopper!

Super busy on the Sunday after Xmas

By TERRAvelista |

Arrived here mid day after a quick lunch at nearby TGI Friday and took entrance F located on the NE part of the mall to reach the Boot Barn where I placed an order.

Both Boot Barn and the mall were packed with entire families walking as if they were going to a demonstration: I wonder if they were purchasing anything?

Lots of shops, little kiosks and delicatessen to buy your stuff if you get hungry - most surely we will come back mid week to avoid the crowds.

A very busy area with lots of plazas on all sides of the intersection where the mall is located.

Many great stores!

By 02slugbug |

Always lots of selection from a wide variety of stores, always seems to be good deals when I have visited.

Great Place to shop

By Willie M |

we like to bargain shop and there are a lot of stores to pick from . so we really liked that and the food also . will return

This mall is huge !!!

By 653gailm |

Going to our daughters navy boot camp graduation and we took her to the mall. First thing she wanted was a pedicure LOL. This mall is fabulous and big. Whatever your desires would be this mall has it.

Shopping...shopping and more shopping!

By mr0bles |

We love to shop and this is the best place to find all the stores you can think of all in one place.

Long weekend girls getaway

By nicdanja |

Was in town visiting friends, hotel was across the street, needed a few xtra things. Perfect as far as location, quiet and clean, make sure you wear comfortable shoes

Rainy Day

By Susan C |

We drove from Lake Geneva to the mall on a rainy day for something to do and to walk inside! I had been here many times years ago when we were in Lake Geneva and I had young kids . The mall is huge , especially good for young to middle aged kids as they have a whole which of kids game rooms and skating rink , also a rainforest cafe and many stores for teenagers. For adults I have gone there for Sals outfit but it is closing so for me there aren’t places that I shop .

Great mall, but lots of walking

By BullyWilson |

We went to take the kids to lunch at Rainforest cafe but ended up walking around to kill a couple of hours. It was Christmas time so we stopped at the Santa photo station. He wasn't busy and they went out of their way to take ton of pics with our kids. Also, a good looking setup. There are plenty of stores with great sales. We didn't go to the foodcourt but it had a lot of options by what I could see. Parking is easy and its close to the highway and other area attractions. Definitely worth a trip.

Faviorite Mall

By Meshesha |

I love shopping at Gurnee Mills ! We travel every summer for Christmas shopping. Its not easy to locate gifts in July but I do find them. I wish there was an afternoon shuttle to and from Gurnee Mills so I could visit more often.
Our annual trip is always to Gurnee Mills. Just wish they had gift shops and the Black Cat Mineral store had cat decorations rather than so much jewelry/

Always excited to shop there

By MSL1992 |

I've only gone to gurnee mills a few time, but I'm always excited to go and do tons of shopping. Love their sales and deals. They have a little bit of everything which makes it well worth the drive. If it was closer, I'd definitely make a weekly trip.

Great shopping experience

By Alan V |

First went to Gurnee Mills about 15 years ago. Was coming through the area again on vacation. Just had to stop and again had a great experience. If you can't find what you are looking for here, just forget about it. Caution, put your walking shoes on

Shopping and Activities

By Cindi R |

This is a great place to go if you love to shop. If you just want somewhere to hang out for the day then it is also a great place to go. The is a huge mall. You will need your walking shoes and a couple of hours to see it all. Inside the mall is a bounce house place, an ice skating rink, an arcade, a mirror maze, and so much more. I have been there twice, once with teens and once with young kids, and never got to see the whole mall because there was so much to do. The are also plenty of place to eat here too. We went Black Friday and Easter weekend and both times everything was affordable and not over priced.

Great for a walk

By John T |

I really liked the walk around the mall. The mall had some empties and it was weirdly laid out. But it made for a nice walk to stretch between Chicago and Milwaukee. No stores that other mall don't have and with empties gave it a 3. Nothing really stands out here.

Something for everyone but massive.

By CzechMate2010 |

Pick and choose and be strategic as to the shops you want to visit. Otherwise, the wandering mall will exhaust you. The discounts are fine depending on the store. Some are hit and miss like Last Call and Off Fifth. The bass pro shop is fun and has a lot for the outdoors-person.

Shopping !

By racsod1 |

You can find everything in this mall! It is not expensive and you can spend a good time. Many restaurants around make your visit special in case you want to enjoy a good meal.

Best shopping you'll find around.

By Fabel |

Great stores, and dinning. Great mall to spend the day shopping, walking around and then have some fun like heading to the Cinema! It's pretty big, nice parking spaces and even has a skating rink. Great option for a rainy or snowy day :)

Nice place to spend relaxing time with your new sailor!

By Stephanie L |

We were in town for our son's graduation from Navy RTC. There is not much around base to do, so we headed to the mall. This mall is great! It's huge with a lot of different shops. My boys and husband loved visiting Bass Pro Shops.

Great exercise

By Nitroxonly |

Best to visit this huge mall when it’s not real busy or you will find it’s like rush hour traffic with people! Lots of stores and food prepare minimum of two hours to visit great exercise to walk the mall

Wore me out

By jreed37 |

This mall has a lot of stores. I shop a lot because my wife likes to shop. This mall has a great selection of stores and a different variety than you might normally see it does have two food courts so the food selection is ok You can defiantly spend hours here if you are up to it. This is a great destination on any day. Give this mall a try

starting to look run down

By carrie9678 |

We were there on a Thursday night- it wasn't very crowded. The mall common areas seemed to be a little run down. There were all of our favorite stores and we found some great deals at Nike, Abercrombie Kids, Hollister and Express. I think this place used to be THE place to shop and now it's just a place to shop.

The layout stinks

By dtaylor2009 |

The mall has a few great stores, but the layout is awful! Its a giant U that takes forever to get through and without going back outside there isn't any way to cut back through to the other side without heading outside to do so.

Factory outlet mall

By Pooja |

It's an interesting mall with all the factory outlets. Shopping here not only felt nice but reasonable also .
They have two food courts and a Rainforest Cafe . Decent food options are available. Mall has kids play area and multi brand outlets like Macy's and Marshall's.

Just ok

By Heather T |

This mall has some very random stores. I really only wanted "outlet" stores, and those were more difficult to find. I spent a few hours there and that was plenty.

I Guess It Depends On What You're Looking For

By JJRiann |

I have visited Gurnee Mills a handful of times over the past 10 years. Recently, Aug. 27th, I took my husband for his first visit. Being from Australia, he has a certain expectation that no other mall has lived up to. He loved Gurnee Mills! We thought it was going to be overpriced and boring, so we allotted 2 hours for our visit. 5 hours later, we left. We found so many great deals at VF Outlet, Disney Outlet, Nike Outlet etc...! Look at the map and the stores highlighted with the asterisk are actual outlet stores with great prices. The rest of the stores are typical mall stores (And prices) that you could find locally.

By Tomas A |

Been coming to this mall 20 years plus it seems to be losing its top anchor stores and alot of the good younger trendy stores all left even yhe food court got blah whsts going on here every time i come here theres another good store gone get some younger hip stores to match your clientele

Walking through the Mall

By Kathleen B |

You can walk through the mall any day for exercise or looking at the stores. There is a cinema, coffee shops, food court, and full service restaurants.

Gurnee Mills Shopping

By Cynthia C |

The mall has been updated lately and they do have some nice stores (Victoria's Secret, Macy's, Kohl's, etc.). The food court also offers some pretty tasty food. The big draw, though, is the new Portillo's they opened along Mall Drive towards the backside of the mall. They also just opened a Buffalo Wild Wing attached to the mall.

I hate malls

By Chris R |

And this one is no exception. It is crowded. There are way too many unsupervised children. People dawdle. It takes forever to get anything done because of the people.

Large shopping center. Good walking exercise wuile shopping for bargains.

By traveler t |

In general, looks like just another mall but it is a very large one.
It opposite to Six Flags Great America.

It is located about halfway between Chicago and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a 40 minute drive either way. It is the third largest mall in Illinois, and is visited by more than 20 million people each year. Gurnee Mills opened on August 8, 1991.[2]

Not my favorite mall

By Kathy B |

Whoever developed this layout wasn't thinking. There is no way to walk "around" the mall - it doesn't connect. You have to walk one end to the other and back again. Sensory overload with all the TV's and different music and neon. Many people love this place - just not for me

HUGE Shopping Centre

By unnikrisb |

This shopping center need to a day to cover. The shops are good and having great shopping offer all the year. Burlington coat factory, Sears grand, Puma, Home depot etc are major shoppers. It's almost N shaped shopping center which has about eight gate(exits) for this mall. There are several food courts and vendors!

Huge Mall!

By Eileen H |

There is something here for everyone. This mall combines regular stores along with outlet stores. There are 2 food courts with half decent food. Very good location and easy to get to from the Navy Lodge where we were staying. There's an arcade and play area for smaller children.

Not really an outlet

By dexjor23 |

It was very good shopping and they need to drop the outlet title. The prices are not outlet prices. But, there are so many stores you cant help but find a bargain or two.

Weekend trip

By JekaAnn0815 |

Great mall. Variety of stores! Excellent location. We stayed at the Key Lime Cove Water Park and the are just across the highway from one another.

Bass pro outdoor

By cdhcch |

The mall is a large complex. We concentrated our shopping at the bass pro shop. The prices were good and had great variety. The displays were museum quality. It was amazing to see all of the US animals and the fish tank would keep a little kid amazed for an hour.

Shopper's paradise

By cubswin123 |

Gurnee Mills is enormous. All too often, an outlet mall requires dealing with the elements. I appreciated the indoor setting. Plenty of stores to choose from. I guess as a guy, Bass Pro was my favorite and I'm not a fisherman. We found the variety of stores to meet any needs we had. I felt the prices were typical.

We went the day after going to Great America. For us, bad choice. Just too much walking.

Good shopping

By Cristina Isabel A |

This is an outlet mall very very big. Its great and has variety BUT If you are looking for something specific you should see the directory first because you can walk forever inside the mall without finding the store.

Nice mall

By Nikki |

I see some reviews are based on individual stores, however the mall as a whole is a very good mall. The entire family can go and find something for everyone. I have found plenty of great deals on back to school clothes & shoes. The family has spent an entire day there. From shopping to eating, watching a movie and the bungee jumping thing for the kids, this mall has it all!

Great visit

By ajs97 |

Lot's of great stores and yummy food. Plenty for any age group.i I loved all the selection of food. Plus the candy stores.

Good Place to Spend a Day

By MNLit |

We were in town for a Naval graduation so we had a couple days to explore. We was going to go into Chicago but one of the days was rainy so we went to the Gurnee Mills Mall and there was plenty of stores to shop and many places to eat. It's a good size mall so just walking the whole thing eat up time and was good exercise, not to mention the wife liked all the shops. We seen many of the recruits there with their families.

Some accessibility issues. Fun for an afternoon.

By Alexis R |

I almost gave this property a three star review because the outside of the property had some accessibility issues, but since we did not have any inside, I think it is a four star property. We had difficulty getting into the building shortly after they opened on Sunday because the security guard had forgotten to "turn on" the wheel chair accessible doors (though he had come over and unlocked the regular doors and other patrons streamed in past us). They also need to post signs near the wheel chair accessible dips in the curbs around the building to prevent taxi cabs and other patrons from blocking these with their cars while waiting for customers to come out of the building. We had to roll up and get the attention of a cab driver on the way in. The inside is very wheelchair accessible (the mall is constantly changing levels, but there are wide, gradual ramps at every junction). However, I would not be comfortable using only a cane, since the mall is shaped like one long winding snake, so if you from one end to the other, you must walk back to the beginning to leave out the same exit and get to your car. Most of the stores were wheel chair accessible, but Perfect Bodies (they sell girdles and other underwear to change your body shape) clearly had a much larger bump than is supposed to be allowed. My husband did not notice and almost dumped me face first into the floor when my wheels caught on the edge of floor and the employee actually laughed when I yelled out in alarm. Hot Topic had a handicap sign that said they would give assistance if needed but they also had the wheelchair accessible counter covered in stuff (binders, paperwork, various office debris) and when we pulled up to it, they did not notice us until we did several loud "ahems" and finally an "excuse me". They were polite afterward, except when I asked what a pop toy was and the guy's explanation was "something the kids these days are into". Gymboree also had a handicap sign, though it was unusually high, and was partially peeled off, and did not include the accompany explanation of being willing to help, so we are not sure exactly what that meant. The reason I think this mall is above average is that it definitely has more attraction value than the average mall. I am sad we did not have time to ride the toy train that goes in a circle around a few food kiosks (including a decent creperie place that had very affordable chocolate covered strawberry kebobs). We wondered about a giant barn that is floating in the air in one corridor, and it appears to be on a track, so we think it might actually do something, at some point. I would love to see that, whatever it is. Outdoor World was more fun than I thought it would be, I got really excited about the fish. Some of them were HUGE. I did feel bad for the fish stuck in the tiny wishing pond with all those coins getting dropped on them. I guess it is not surprising a fisherman store is not super concerned about animal welfare. We did have some problems with the arcade. We had to buy a plastic card to buy a toy from a vending machine, then the card malfunctioned, then they told us the machine was mislabeled with the wrong number of credits, then we had to get a refund, and it wasted some time. We really loved the candy bacon kiosk, who totally won our business by giving us free samples first. We had some trouble avoiding those really aggressive sales people that circle around their kiosks trying to lure people in by insisting on talking them. I was also uncomfortable because they frequently seemed to straight for my kid sister, who is obviously a young pre-teen, not an adult. I have no idea what they are selling but I feel like maybe kids should be off-limits for that kind of aggressive sales tactic. My kid-sister had a wonderful time, they appear to have a lot of teen friendly stores, and generally everyone was happy, though we honestly did not spend a lot of money, and mostly looked around. I do not remember seeing a family bathroom and since my kid sister cannot help me with my chair, I am not sure how my husband could have helped me if I had needed to use the lady's restroom. Also: the reptile petting zoo is long gone but for some reason the property is still listed here on Tripadvisor, though I know more than I have reported its close.

Great mall

By Annette B |

Was in the area visiting family and dropped in for a little shopping. Lots of shops with a food court. Great place to get out of the heat.

Great Shopping place !!

By PicMyNature |

At one point of time, Gurnee Mills was the largest Shopping Mall in the US. But still it has a lot to offer!!

You can club your amusement park Visit and Shopping, but be prepared to walk a lot.

Walking Shoes Required!

By Sandra R |

If you are a serious bargain hunter plan on spending a good part of that day at this outlet mall and wear your walking shoes. Stores include a small Macy's, HomeGoods, TJ Maxx plus an assortment of outlets. What will you do with the kids? There's a Rainforest Cafe there and the big kid (your boyfriend or husband) can wander over to Bass Pro Shops or the nearby car dealers. There's also a water park on the other side of the highway so you might consider this as a weekend destination with something for everyone. Ooops, almost forgot that there's a very nice antique shop nearby. There are also plenty of restaurants surrounding the mall so you won't go hungry. This mall offers a lot of choices but it is spread out so plan on getting your 10,000 steps under one roof. Have fun.

Nice improvements

By WorldTravelers34 |

My wife and I spent a Saturday afternoon here. This mall has made many improvements since the last time we were here. The parking lot is immense and the mall itself is striving to improve its tenants. We try and visit this mall a few times per year.

This place is great for shopping. It has a lot of stores and restaurants and you can have family time there.

One of Chicago best Malls

By Ghanim A |

One of Chicago best Malls
One floor and huge large mall
with famous department stores and brands names
they have two food courts

Believe the bad reviews

By Juan D |

My wife and I were in Chicago for a couples vacation and decided to go to an outlet for school clothes before making the trip back home. Unfortunately we decided to go here instead of Edinburgh near Indy. Believe all of the bad reviews and don't go. The place is about a day away from being closed and the stores aren't anything goes to brag on.

Men's clothing options were disappointing

By Ken R |

If you are looking for quality, men's dress clothing, look elsewhere. Most of the stores carry low quality clothing, and one stores inventory looks much like the others. For me, a total waste of time and effort.

Decent Mall

By wingnut457 |

Came here with the family while attending a boot camp graduation. decent mall with lots of stores and things to do, like an arcade and a awesome Lego store.

Another Good shopping trip

By Lenajean |

We have been coming to Gurnee Mills for about 20 years. This is our annual shopping trip. We noticed quite a few changes this year. Some of the bathrooms have been very nicely updated. One of the food courts has been remodeled and several of the vendors have left the food court. Macy's has now been added too.

A few of the stores we usually visited have closed but I did not notice very many empty stores. We will keep coming back each year!

Discounted shopping and a great place for a rainy day activity

By Tom F |

Close by to major interstate highways. Lodging and great restaurants next door. Gurnee Mills is a day long experience for the whole family.

Ugh...what a crap-show mall.

By S C |

How is this #2 in Tripadvisor for Northern Illinois malls? This mall sucks. There's nothing decent inside - just low-medium end crap stores.

Just shopping

By Crystal G |

It wasn't as big as I thought it would be but the arcade was nice! And they have an ice ring in there too!

WOW! What a mall!!

By Shereen C |

My family and I went to this mall during our trip to the naval graduation and it was spectacular! This mall is huge, with just about every store you can think of, as well as a huge arcade (with laser tag, mini golf, and ice skating rink), movie theater, and much more. We spent nearly six hours there and still hadn't covered all there was to see. Definitely a must see if you do not mind walking a lot :).

You Can Probably Find Just About Anything Here

By NBChknbiski |

We came with a shopping list of obscure items and found everything we were looking for, plus lunch.

Gurnee Mills is one of those malls where you really can spend the entire day shopping, taking a break at a full-service restaurant, and even ice skating and/or seeing a movie. However, the mall is a bit of a mixed bag. The stores run the gamut from full price to outlet and from up-to-date to backfilled and using their predecessors' décor and fixtures. The mall is long, in a one-story z-shaped format, which we shopped by walking in a circle, shopping one side at a time. It has a quirky vibe when you realize it goes from dated with some dumpy stores on one end to brighter and shinier with nicer stores on the other. There are two food courts and there is a noticeable difference between them.

Did notice that the "deals" at some outlet stores are comparable to the going prices at full-price stores, and there seems to be an overabundance of shoe stores, many of which have virtually similar selections and prices on Uggs and Timberlands.

The Its Sugar store was a fun place to stop with its bulk candy and oversize candy section, and the Kitchen Collection (for those of you who miss Lechters) has just about every gadget imaginable.

A must go place when visiting Chicago...

By bukol |

This indoor outlet mall is enough for out of Chicago state visitors to spend a day, shopping, eating, massage cheap finds, bargain and deep discount all in one placevisited this Mall and came home with 13 shopping bags... Now that's shopping and i always go for discounts only.

Everything you want in one place

By bgskyman |

Hundreds of stores and many food places so you can get all your shopping done, have some food, people watch and catch a movie too. Kind of pricey, but its the mall, you can just walk around for free too.

Disappointed

By Tomas A |

This mall is so empty rundown and lost its charm been coming here for over 30 years. Way to many empty stores and the stores that are there are generic with stuff no one really buys or needs. It's gotten ghetto big time

Popular mall with wide selection of shops

By Angelk8888 |

Gurnee Mills is an indoor mall but still had outlets like Saks 5th, Neiman Marcus which you don't find at Chicago Premium or Pleasant Prairie malls. Good crowd on Fri. Popular with armed forces folks. Close to Pleasant Prairie so I would probably do both outlets in one day. Warmer to walk around than outdoor outlets.

Shopping Wonderland

By September B |

Great place to shop, eat, walk, pictures, you name it! Everything is offered here! Even a skating rink and arcade room! A place for everyone in the family.

shopping heaven

great indoor shopping mall. accessible to main street. variety of shops and food courts on both end.

Love to shop but don't like this mall

By Lori P |

We went to this mall during the Christmas season. I used to go to this mall when I was younger. It was one of my favorite places to shop. I was not pleased with the stores that are at this mall now A lot of stores I have never heard of before. Most of the stores, I would never go back into again. They have not made any improvements to this mall since I was there years ago. I will not be going back to this mall again!! .

Nice mall and shopping area

By Bernardo F |

it's a nice mall and shopping area. It's more mall than discount outlet, but it's still pretty expansive and lots of stores.

Mall

By LostInTime |

The mall is very big. And it’s built in a straight line so it’s a lot of walking. There are a lot of stores. Most are in every mall but it has some unique ones. It’s very crowded on black Friday.

Navy boot camp graduation trip

By SSVID |

Interesting mall with so much to do and see. Arcade, mirror maze and many more activities for the young and teenagers to do and kill some time.

Just another mall

By Susan |

I was not impressed by this mall. I may be mistaken, but I thought it was an outlet mall. The stores that we went into, the prices were the same as in the mall that we frequent in the South Suburbs of Chicago. We walked the entire mall, and it is a good walk. It pretty much has every store that other malls have. I did appreciate there were chairs in the "middle aisle" where you can sit and relax, after walking so much. There was one thing I noticed that was different from other malls I have visited, is they have different sites that offer paintball, some kind of rink (not sure if it was ice rink or roller rink), and the latest thing the "escape room". Besides those sites, this is just another run of the mill, average mall.

A Fun Shopping Experience

By Janel8595 |

While vacationing in Wisconsin, we made the trip to Gurnee Mills for a short shopping trip. We loved the fact that it was all one level and easy to work your way through without missing anything. We found plenty of stores to shop at but the main stores we went there for were Forever 21 and Doc Popcorn, which we love but do not have at home. We would definitely go there again.

It's a mall - nothing special

By BeachDad23 |

While there are a wide selection of store fronts, and a few restaurants carrying more than simple mall food, this is nothing more than a well-kept, run-of-the-mill, indoor mall. It appears to be both clean and safe, although the layout is more than a little clumsy to get from one end to another.

Could be an all day affair

By Allen21096 |

Located midway between Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Chicago, Illinois, the mall is located just west of the Interstate 94 (the Tri-State Tollway) and exit at Route 132 (West Grand Avenue). Parking is ample and very easy. There are plenty of exits into the mall. There are some anchor stores like Bass Pro Shop, Macy's, Marshalls, Kohl's and Sports Authority. There is probably close to 175 stores in the mall. Interspersed are a number of restrooms. There are two full food courts, as well as some anchor restaurants, like Rainforest Cafe and Ruby Tuesday, as well as several outlying restaurants in the lot, that aren't attached to the mall. The mall personnel seem friendly and helpful. There are plenty of places to sit and relax, as well as there being child play areas where you can watch the kids while your partner shops. Comfortable, enclosed and climate-controlled all year round.

Good shopping experience

By robertcI755FK |

Stopped in here to just look around and found a lot of stuff that the same stores by me did not have and the people working in many different places were all nice the mall was clean and kinda cool

Good place to spend time and money 😎

By rudzik1973 |

Very well known place with almost endless little and big stores. Lot of restaurants and fun for kids almost on every corner. Worth to go there.

Poor products despite national name brands and stores

By Lagunaone |

This mall has many stores, but the content of each is lower end or seconds, even for the one high end named department store. The service is non existent, and displays are disorganized, making for an unpleasant experience. There is a food court and only one restaurant located away from the court.
We live very close by, but travel south to find stores worth visiting.

Great Variety

By Gronezy20 |

This mall is definitely worth driving for - it's a nice variety of outlet and regular stores, and it has a nice setup that flows well. There's definitely a store here for everyone! My only complaint was the heat - It was a 75 degree day when we visited and it was fairly humid, but everyone was complaining about the heat (employees and customers). We stayed 2-3 hours, but might have stayed even longer if it was a little cooler in there. But the heat aside, it's a very clean mall with two large food courts and something for everyone.

It isn't as large as Woodfield, but...

By Taylor B |

Gurnee Mills is the second largest shopping mall in Illinois, after Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg and ahead of Oak Brook Center in Oak Brook. While purists might argue that it doesn't have as many big-name brand businesses on the marquee, they would have to agree that visitors to Gurnee Mills will find more entertaining attractions and savory restaurants than its more celebrated rivals. Located at 6170 Grand Avenue in north suburban Gurnee, at the intersection of I-94 and Grand Avenue (Illinois Route 132), Gurnee Mills features nearly 200 stores, including Macy's and Saks Fifth Avenue and Dick's Sporting Goods and Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World. The property also includes a movie theater, Gurnee Marcus Cinema, an indoor miniature golf course and laser tag at Tilt Studio. At this time of year, the indoor facility is crowded with children in a back-to-school mode. They make shopping at Gurnee Mills an all-day experience with shopping, eating and watching a movie. Other stores include Bed Bath & Beyond, Forever 21, Tommy Hilfiger, Adidas, Nike, Marshalls, Kay's Jewelers, H&M, Gap, Crocs, Foot Locker, American Eagle, Abercrombie & Fitch, Loft Outlet, T Mobile, Sunglass Hut, Disney Store Outlet, Lens Crafters, Victoria's Secret, Polo/Ralph Lauren, Movado and Zales. Ready for a coffee break? Stop at Starbucks. How about lunch? Try Subway, Burger King, Portillo's, Rainforest Cafe, Chicago Woodfire Pizza, Buffalo Wild Wings, Kelly's Cajun Grill, Charleys Philly Cheesesteak and Jamba Juice. And if you have time, your kids would love to spend some time at nearby Six Flags Great America.

Good

By Jamie D |

There were a lot of stores. It was all on one level so there was a lot of walking to get from one end to the other. We did the glow mini golf and build a bear. We got some good deals on clothes but not a ton. There weren't really outlet stores in this mall.

Nice experience

By fbrown2018 |

Very clean mall full of stores you won’t find here in Dallas. I spent more money than expected due to me wanting to buy everything.

This is a great mall!

By John K |

With multiple specialty stores of many varieties, restaurants, movie theater, kids play area, department stores this mall has something for everyone! Close to Six Flags Great America, it's a great place to go to get out of the rain or find alternatives to park food.

How to Enjoy Gurnee Mills

By Gabe10101 |

Gurnee Mills is typical of large Mills Malls around the country. It's big, not fancy at all, and is full of a variety of stores and eateries, plus a small theater. End to end is about 3/4 mile. Add in the parking lot and browsing a few stores, and you just walked 3 miles! Crowds were light on a Friday morning. There are a few activities for kids like rental 'scooters' shaped like furry animals. To our surprise, store employees were really friendly! There are a few more stores and restaurants outside the main mall building. Access from I-94 and surround streets is excellent.

Great Area for the whole Family

By trendytravelers2 |

Not only is the shopping awesome but the mall is filled with lots of fun for the whole family. The movie theater is one of the best I've ever been too, it has a 4DMX with moving seats and sound , smoke, and even a light spray of water when called for during the movie sequence. The regular theater has plush leather recliners so comfortable it may entice a nap, lol. Rain Forest Cafe is a tropical, animal motion, fun dining experience. The ice skating rink is joined with a large entertainment area with flow in the dark putt putt, laser tag, lots of video games and some kiddie rides as well. The middle of the mall and in front of Toys R Us you can rent giant moving stuffed animals adults and kids can ride around the mall up to 500 pounds. This is a place to enjoy anytime of year and any weather condition. Absolutely one of my favorite places to go when I am anywhere near Gurnee.

Nice Mall/Great Cab Co...

By Karin L |

The Gurnee Mills Mall had a nice variety of stores. This is a great place to shop. I have to to give a big shout out to a great cab company. Taxi-2-Go was a great family owned company that we enjoyed our rides with. Please give them a call if you are in the Libertyville, IL area. They will be very helpful!

Shopping

By Shabbeer M |

This one is also one of the best in Chicago but problem is it's close by 9.30 pm which is too early for Tourists, otherwise good place to have reasonable deals on branded Clothing, it's one of my favorite

Good selection

By marilynkathryn |

Big mall with a lot of variety. Some of the mall down by Macy's has been updated and looks nice. MAny other areas of the mall do need to be updated. Decent prices and many upscale name brand stores.

Not so grand time on Grand Avenue

By kevc56 |

Big mall. Lots of stores. Very stretched out linear mall in a zig zag pattern. Prepare to walk a lot. And remember when you get to the end you have a long walk back the way you came. The mix of stores is not that unique and slants from mid-range to discount and off price retailers. They do have a Bass Pro Shop which on its own is worth a visit. But there is also a Sears Grand store, which like much of this place, is not very grand at all.

Nice

By Mia1027 |

They've upgraded a lot recently, now the food courts are really nice. Added more expensive stores now, but cheaper than other malls like Hawthorne.

It's a mall

By DAVID B |

Typical mall stores, clean and a lot of walking. Would visit again if we are in Chicago. Lot's of restaurants around the mall.

SHOPPING

By Brian D |

Crowded and can be congested on week ends . lots of stores , theater and eateries. get there early to find good parking spot . be prepared to walk.... Wear comfortable shoes

Gurnee Mills, It was amazing, but thanks to the times it's definitely lacking.

By Compass40472250626 |

Gurnee has fallen off a ledge, and I don't mean that from a cleanliness standpoint. I grew up with Gurnee Mills in the 90s and it actually had a large variety of stores that everyone in a group would find fun an enjoyable to walk through. Now, Gurnee Mills is literally a Clothing, Shoe and Makeup store with a few other odds and ends like Dicks or Lego mixed in. You used to be able to spend a whole day there, hit maybe 25% of the shops and never be bored. It's a far cry from what a Mall used to, and should still, be, even if the change to what it is now is due to the times and internet.

What's missing?

Real hobby stores, most of which are now taken up by sports stores, or the internet.
The old generation stores. IE music stores, Radio shack, and others electronic stores
Tool Shops
Real outdoors stores. Not just talking about Outdoor World/BassProShop/Cabelas.

Gurnee Mills is Fun!

By alfie2u |

If you like to shop then this is the place to go. There are many stores there however it seems that Gurnee Mills may have moved away from its outlet roots. VF (Vanity Fare) is a true outlet store with very good prices. Also take a trip to the Corelle store and there are several other stores where bargains abound. If you are a savvy shopper then go for it and if you are not then take your time and shop.

Shoppers paradise

By Piyush_VK |

I shopped for my girlfriend here. I hate shopping but she was over the phone from across 7 seas making me go to and for stuff she loves from the US brands. It was fun!

Wear good walking shoes!

By Gina W |

This is a great mall that has something for everyone of all ages and price ranges. You can shop at Guess or the dollar store and I always find good deals at the Burlington Coat Factory outlet. The food court has lots of different foods to choose from and my kids enjoy the Rainforest Cafe when we visit there.

Great For Shopping Lovers

By Harold R |

I'm 75 years old so most of my shopping is now on the 'net. My wife, my kids, and my grandkids (girls, not the boys), love this place. Whatever you want, you can find...just about.

Great outlet/mall shopping!

By ChicagoTennisMom |

This is a great mall, with many outlet stores, that is within an easy drive of Chicago's north suburbs, where I live. It was remodeled fairly recently, and the common areas are spotlessly clean, as are the bathrooms. I like to shop here on weekday mornings, because the mall is very quiet then, with few customers (I suspect it is packed on weekends). My favorite store is the Gap Outlet, where they always seem to have a nice collection of inexpensive sweaters (which I always need). It is a bit of a drive for me (much further than Old Orchard or Northbrook Court Malls), but wow, the savings make the trip so much worth it. I have also been to this mall with my teenage daughter, and she also loved the place, and could not believe the bargains.

Favourite mall

By N9eav |

Probably my favourite mall. Most of the named brands and plenty of discounts. Pity there is no Ralph Lauren, but more than enough to keep everyone happy for most of the day. Food court prices seem to have risen somewhat since my last visit...

Reset your steps counter, because there's plenty of walking to do.

By Herminio G |

Great place to walk, shops and eat. There's plenty to do and see. Plenty of parking. Security is very visible.

Huge selection of great stores

By dkp213 |

We love Gurnee Mills mall - there is no end to the selection of goods and services you can experience here. From a super comfortable movie theater to restaurants like Portillo's and Rainforest Cafe and Chicago Woodfire Pizza.
There are tons of stores and it isn't terribly busy, except at the holiday season.

By Lori P |

I was pleasantly surprised when I returned to Gurnee Mills!! The mall has been totally remodeled and with new stores. I love that they now have a Loft. (one of my favorite stores) The mall was very clean!! Food Court has a Red Mango, which has great frozen yogurt that is very healthy!! I will definately be back!!

Some Good, Some Bad

By rudyboomer |

There are some really good deals in this very large 1 story mall and there are some stores with prices no less than anyone else. There is plenty of parking and the mall is constructed in a zig-zag layout so that when you're done with the walk thru the mall, strategic parking will allow you to get to your car in a much shorter outdoor walk.

some flea market type stores. no great deals, they are full price stores like a regular mall. i don't like that.....

By M146XBtraveler |

....they call it an 'outlet' store. its not discounted like you would think. its a great place to go if ya just need to get a walk in. but dress light! its warm in there!!

Good for walk

By Y G |

This is a big mall. Various kind of stores are enjoyable for walking. Especially, you can enjoy walking in this mall.

Could have spent all my money here!

By acox17 |

I loved this mall!!! I have read other reviews in saying it wasn't remodeled all over I disagree, it may not have the most popular stores in all corners of the mall, but over all it was a beautiful indoor mall. Great selection of all stores. Great prices.

Nice mall

By Bov |

A nice mall. Its clean and modern. Some unique stores like Lego and Bass Pro Shop. Rainforest Cafe was nice.

One of the better "Outlet" malls

By Laurel N |

I noticed another review that said it was so far away ... that is relative. I'd probably say that about any other mall because they'd be farther from where I live. Nevertheless, it is perfect for a daytime destination with your kids. There are areas for kids to play and climb (and give parents a chance to sit and rest!) The crown jewel, so-to-speak is Bass Pro Shop. Their large aquarium is a must see for kids (people even ask if there's an "entrance" fee, which there isn't - it's free!) Be sure that you keep hands OUT of the water as it is a fragile environment for the fish. There's a spot to pose for a photo op for the kids. Walking around the mall itself, you will need to fend off the aggressive kiosk salespeople - but you'll find that around any other indoor mall. The mall's food court is par for mall food courts, although the smell that wafts around the mall from it and the popcorn vendors is a bit rancid - they should work on that! Tips for visiting: remember where you park and wear comfortable walking shoes!

Very Cheap

By Andrew V |

Went here to shop one weekend in the summer. This mall has every sports fans dream at Burlington Coat Factory you can get Chicago White Sox t-shirt for 4$. We also had a very cheap lunch at Taco Bell. Food Court has food from all cultures. Parking is free and I recommend you park by Value City Furniture and Bass Pro Shop. All in All a cheap and enjoyable mall.

Clean But Half Empty

By Pink P |

Walking the entire length of this mall, I noticed how many of the units are empty. Although this is cleverly disguised by having displays in the window to make the mall look like it has more stores than it really does. The entrances to these "dummy stores" are blocked and when you read the small signs in the window displays, they do say that these items are from "x" store which is located elsewhere in the mall. That aside, the shopping is ok. Not great, but ok. There's a small food court and a small "dining pavilion" which to be honest is just another food court. The 'restaurants' in there are no better quality than in the food court. And one thing that did surprise me - the lack of restrooms. The mall is one long 'corridor' which keeps turning, but it is not a complete loop, so you will have to double back to whichever store you parked outside. And I only saw two restrooms - one in the food court and one near Skechers. There are signs saying the mall is being renovated but I didn't see any evidence of the renovation. And there's a skating rink at one end, but apart from there being a couple of hockey players using it, there was nobody else there. So all in all, this mall is just ok. But definitely not worth the hour's drive from Chicago.

Nice mall

By PVD Elevators & Aviation |

This mall is centrally located near the heart of Gurnee. It is a great place to go if you know what you're looking for. Otherwise you will have a hard time getting around, it is very complicated.

very convenient for me.

By 665aggie |

I like big mall, and I like to walk, its for people like me middle. Everything is there not too pricey, especially when its sale.

Nice mall

By dollarbay |

Lot of stores, lots of eating options. Movie theater, ice rink, arcade. Plenty to keep you going for hours. Don't let the word outlet fool you though, not a cheap place to shop. However, whatever you are looking for, odds are you will find it here. Very, very busy on weekends.

Sooooooo much to do. Other than shopping

By tripsruward |

Now we enjoy 😊 ourselves here. Now I do live close to the Aurora outlet mall and I love shopping there a little bit more than this mall. We still enjoyed this verrrrry big mall. All kind of things to do from paint-balling, shopping , a lot of walking. But we enjoyed it all

Great holiday ambience

By LMM |

Good mall with a large variety of stores, and a lot of holiday decor. Clean, well maintained, with an ample and safe parking lot. It has a lot of snack / drink / food choices. It would also be nice to add a restaurant outside and even more events, and craft fairs each year.

Mall

By bearman_10 |

A bit to spread out for me and to crowded, plus TAX in Illinois are high. It does have lots of good stores and it has BASS Pro shop

Needs a change

By Renee M |

Gurnee is okay. There are not many stores that interest me in this mall. Shoe depot had a few things I liked. The value city furniture store was nice and gave me some ideas for renovating my home.

Great store selection

By David C |

Bring your walking shoes and perhaps few workouts before exploring Gurnee Mills. Great store selection needed two days to cover the whole mall properly. Probably should have am attack plan before venturing here, listing the stores you want to hit. Mall is clean and well serviced. Bathrooms are clean, very important! One of the best malls I have been to across the USA or Canada. It's a lot of walking! Enjoy! Cheers!

Good mall

By Samantha W |

Lots of store, things change frequently, everyone is pleasant. Good stores, our favorites are zumiez and tillys.

Huge but rather empty

It had been years since we last visited this huge mall and it was rather empty on a Thursday afternoon. In its heyday it was busy with tourist by the bus loads. We spent most of our time in Outdoor World which is still pretty amazing. The rest of the mall was disappointing. I seemed to miss the hustle and bustle compared to nearby Woodfield Mall.

A mall is a mall

By bookbuy_7 |

If you like malls this is the queen of all malls only mall of America beats the GURNEE mall. So many stores use to be all outlet but they have added several really high end stores to this place. Very crowded at the holiday season but do not feel crowded. They have added a Portillo’s to the back parking lot so now the mall parking lot is more crowded. Fun to visit. The outdoor store has a great fake pond and brings for kids.

No cart rental, very disappointed.

By suespagnuolo |

Had a great girls weekend. We always go to Gurnee Mills because of the deals, atmosphere, restaurants, and fun shopping experience. However, we were sooooo disappointed that there is no longer a cart rental. We had to rent a kids car-cart and use that to carry our purchases. I don't understand the reasoning for this but there were alot of people disappointed about this. We were all waiting outside entrance B so we could rent a cart and were really discouraged when they're were no longer an option.

Lockers for mall walkers.

By Thomas G |

I have just started walking the mall and I am enjoying it however I have seen any public lockers to store my coat.
I have ended wearing my winter jacket during my walk.

By LostInTime |

This used to be an outlet or discount mall. While there are still some of those type of stores but it is mostly just a huge mall now. Kids like it.

A lot of stores in an indoor environment.

By Big_bro_1_usa |

PROS: plenty of parking; close to a lot of other stores outside; a good days worth of walking and entertainment for the whole family.
CONS:spotty wifi all over.

So much to see

By jaywalker17 |

We visited the mall for a night and thought we would have plenty of time to see everything it had to offer. It's a mall! How much could there be? We were wrong. We did a mirror maze, played games at an arcade, ate at a few stands, and shopped at a lot of stores that we don't have in our area. Clean, lots of parking. no complaints.

So-so

By Weliketotvl |

This mall is not what I remember. I thought this used to be an outlet mall. It no longer is. There is a Sak's Fifth Ave outlet and a couple others, otherwise it's just a regular mall. Waste of time. Don't be dumb like us, research surrounding areas, there are many outlet malls within a 25 minute radius of this one.

Great place to do mornings walk!

By Rafiq Huq |

Great place to walk early in the morning before all the stores open. You can also do some window shopping. Winter is the best place to walk.

Trip advisor positioning of 2015 bad day at the movies ranks top billing in July of 2017

The theater has been completely redone with all new wide comfortable recliners.

You should write a review on yourself some day

Nice Mall

By jagoodbar |

Nice mall in the Chicago suburbs. Easy to maneuver around the stores and mostly good prices. Not much in the food court, however, lots of good eating places located in the parking area!

Good mall

By Carol-Lee G |

My mom was able to find a perfect ring here, and the sales lady was so helpful and nice. There are some interesting stores, that are fun to look around. I wanted to go to an escape room, but there where no times available and they all seemed like there where themed for Halloween.

A mall is a mall

By sheree f |

This is suppose to be a discount mall but I do not know how much of a discount it is. Lots of stores and several food courts make for good walking. Some stores really had low end clothes and atmosphere, but I suppose there is something for everything because they just opened a Macy's as a flagship store. There is also theaters and like most malls many closed stores, however you can easily spend a day there

Shop till you drop

By 3gautamk |

This is th e ultimate shopping on a budget. If you are a girl and loves clothes (who doesnt?) Then this is the place you would rather be. It has all the great brands but with huge sales and savings. There is also free WiFi here and a movie theatre to leave us guys at . Right next door are major wholesalers like Walmart Sam's Club jewel osco best buy and target. It's more leniar so there is a lot of walking involved so be prepared. If there is some place specific you want to go then this place and multiple entry and exit points so see which ever is closest and park there saving you some time and effort.

A very nice mall

By Rhiannon F |

We really enjoyed our two trips to the mall. Lots of options of stores and places to eat and some good entertainment also. Would definitely return.

Huge

By JBailey712 |

This is a giant mall. It was kinda hard to navigate, but the store selection was pretty awesome. I would probably go back at a less busy time.

Huge place for shopping

By dynamic14 |

This indoor mall is huge! Lots of shops as well as 2 Food courts. There is also a cinema there as well as a skating rink and few entertainment outlets for kids.

Can get some good bargains there.

Window shopping

By Jeff B |

Nice and easy to navigate. Perfect for indoor walking. We were just window shopping, but several dollars later.

Great mall, good deals close to Six Flags

By LindaTerese |

Gurnee mall is an outlet mall for some stores and you can get a lot of good deals. There is a large selection of places to shop and some good places to eat in the mall like Ruby Tuesdays and Rainforest Cafe also Portillo's is right outside the mall and many other good restaurants. It is very close to Key Lime Cove and Six Flags Great America.

Wear Your Walking Shoes

By Anesha F |

Gurnee Mills has an extensive selection of both specialty and department stores. The size can be a bit overwhelming and I would advise that you devise a plan for what stores you want to visit and map your preferred stores based on their proximity to one another. If at all possible, I would visit the mall during the week, avoiding the weekends, as it can become extremely congested. On a good note, this particular Macy’s has a vast selection of ladies shoes and apparel. They always seem to have my size when no other location has it. The movie theater features 4DX, an interactive movie experience that incorporates, motion, sound, and special effects. It’s definitely worth a visit.

Let's buy something...

By Fabiano B |

Nice place to spend some dollars. Nice brands for men, woman and kids. The food court is small without big restaurants but, you can find something to eat.

Girls Christmas shopping trip.

By suespagnuolo |

We are from Michigan and we've been going to Gurnee Mills every November for the last 25 years. We love all the stores in one place and all the deals. It's a great time for all us girls and I get all my shopping done in one day. We spend the night at one of the hotels across the street and head home on Sunday.

Very Quiet with Empty Shops

By Deborah D |

We found the stores that we wanted for shopping, but so much of the mall is empty. It is huge, so be prepared to walk or do some searching to park near your destination store. Free parking ll around. Plenty of restaurants surround the mall.

Another mall not worth visiting

By Elmo96 |

My husband and I decided to come here tonight to get some walking in and check out the mall since we haven’t been here in a couple years. It’s gone downhill in a big way!

Walking in felt like being transported back to the 90’s with the outdated decor. A lot of the old stores are gone and have been replaced with sketchy looking, cheap, and generic clothes stores. The Saks Off Fifth, one of my favorite stores to poke around in, is one of the stores that’s disappeared. The amount of empty storefronts is incredible.

This is absolutely not an outlet mall in any sense of the word, there are only a couple ‘outlet’ stores here. That said, I enjoy the Macy’s here since it’s cleaner and more spacious than the ones closer to me. Is it good enough to get me to visit again? Nope.

Great Shops and Food

By Michelle N |

Get ready to do a lot of walking because the mall is HUGE even though it only one floor. You have so many places to eat, clothing shops, shoe stores, etc. And my favorite Burlington.

Oakley Store

By Kaylin W |

We love this mall. We are from Oklahoma and this mall is no where near what our mall houses when it comes to stores. We had a great experience at the Oakley store and a very nice and educated young man who goes to school at Baylor! We bought two pairs for this Oakley loving family!

Great Mall With a Good Variety of Stores!

By sidneykay |

Last week we visited this mall for a very long shopping day. The mall was ginormous and had several stores that we do not have back at home in Central Illinois. A large majority of the staff in the mall stores as well as just around the mall were always kind, in a good mood, and helpful. The staff definitely made our experience much better. The stores all are very up to date and have wide varieties that we don't have at our local malls or even online. The atmosphere was splendid and it was just a really good time. I had high expectations considering it was a Simon mall, and it for sure exceeded.

Lots of Stores

By Mark062017 |

Just returned from a week long visit to Chicago. We ate at the Rainforest Cafe and the food court. There is a ton of shopping opportunities there. Loved the Disney Outlet Store.

Shopping at the Gurnee Circle Mall

By EvonEva |

This mall is all on one level. Very clean and well lit. A great mix of stores - big box and small. Many choices for restaurants in the mall and the surrounding area.

BIG

By Alina I |

The place is huge, bring comfortable shoes and they have a great movie theater too. I liked the variety of stores in it.

Family Reunion Fun Shopping

By d h |

This mall has a variety of stores and something for everyone. Whether it is high fashions from Macy or discounted frocks from Marshalls you will find something. The mall was bright, vibrant and clean. Even the Food Court was sanitary. Sales associates were nice and pleasant. We walked the whole mall and didn't feel pressured to purchase anything, but of course we purchased a lot! We were disappointed the TJ Maxx was gone but there were so many other stores to choose from. We definitely will return!

Large mall but no outlet

By Roberta A |

This place was great with all the best stores. However it was no outlet mall. These are the same prices as you would get at any local mall. Food court was decent sized as well.

Lots of shops!

By Christine H |

Even though I'm not much of a shopper, we can usually find something here at the mall. The kiosks can be a little much and sometimes those employees/sales people can be a little too pushy.

People used to come from far and wide to visit this mall...

By elizabethatapp |

I remember when I first moved to Chicago, Gurnee Mills was the place to go to for shopping...that was 16 years ago. Unfortunately, Gurnee Mills has struggle throughout the years, as I think most malls have encountered. Gurnee Mills is not a bad mall/shopping center, but there is a good side and bad side to the mall in itself. I would recommend sticking to the side of the mall with the more popular stores, you will thank me.

Very, very nice

By Veratomlan |

The mall features a very nice selection of stores. Plenty of places to eat inside, and a wide variety of stores. The layout did prove to be a bit confusing, so be sure to familiarize yourself with the mall to avoid this.
Overall, I was very impressed.

It's a mall...

By sunshinecaligirl |

Lived in a little over 16 years. Throughout my 16 years of living there everyone told me I needed to go to visit Gurnee Mills. Perhaps it was all the hype but it seems like a normal to me. I'm glad I finally got to go and get it off the list.
But next time I'd rather go to Six Flags.
I gave it four stars because I did get my son an awesome massage which he needed because he had just graduated college. He was definitely pleased with that so four stars for Gurnee Mills !!

Improved Fun

By Jennifer D |

Gurnee Mills Mall now has Mirror Walk thru fun and an improved Lunch/Dinner area with Video Screen..... I think you could even request a video. Finished Line has Excellent Service...The nail place near the game place is nice too. Ruby Tuesday still has the best Salad Bar, service and manager also.

Super Shopping Mall

By Meheryar B |

Just great shopping experience. The mall is big and go prepared to walk a few miles if you are not focussed on what you want. Bass Pro Outdoor shop, Value city furniture, Macy's, Victoria's Secrets and Burlington Coat Factory are some of the shops worth visiting.

Day trip

By Penny B |

"The Mills". Too big to do in one day. But if you know what you want easy to navigate. Great location near many other restaurants and things to do. We live in the area and go there at least once a week. Many would appreciate "The Mills" for a holiday shopping experience. Make a plan and you could finish gift giving in one day.

decent mall - lots of outlets

By mattopul |

As far as I know it is an outlet mall, even so not all shops seem to be having outlet prices IMO. If you are looking for sports equipment and/or shoes you seem to be in the perfect place. The food offer is acceptable but not perfect if you are looking for a quick bite. Then again the surrounding area offers pretty much anything you could want.

First time in Gurnee

By Javier |

Very nice mall. Took wife & I 4 hours to walk throughout the mall. Left with a few things. Enjoy our time together in Gurnee Mall.

Mall walking

By Peter I |

This is a great place to mall walk in the winter. The paths are wide and there are things to see during the walk like an ice rink, ping pong and of course stores and people. A circuit is 1.4 miles so have fun!

yearly vigil

By kimmer26 |

Many, many stores.....The reason I rated it only average is because it is not a circular mall. It's set up almost like a backwards N. the problem is that once you've gotten from one end to the other....you now have to backtrack past the same stores. My girlfriend and I used to each park at opposite ends of the mall, meet in the middle, trade car keys and drive each other's car to a meeting place, thus saving the redundant walk. Places to eat inside as well as MANY eateries in close proximity Close to many hotels as well as Six Flags..

Your Feet Will Be Tired

By 2ChicksOnTheRun |

This is most definitely a must for shopaholics! They have just about anything you can buy. It is an endless walk, we thought we would be at the end, turn the corner and there is another whole section to shop!! They have two food courts, the Rain Forest Cafe, a ice rink, a movie theater, let’s just say.....basically entertainment for the whole family under one roof!! We spent 2 hours there and didn’t even step into half the stores!

Nice Moderately-Priced Mall

By Charlie4577 |

Gurnee Mills is a moderately-priced mall with a number of large anchor stores (Kohl's, Sears, Macy's, Bed Bath and Beyond, Bass Pro Shop), smaller stores (Victoria's Secret, Tommy Hilfiger, etc), boutique stores (Boot Barn), discount high-end stores (Last Call by Neiman Marcus and Off 5th by Saks Fifth Ave), an ice skating rink, restaurants, and several movie theaters (with $5 Tuesday seats!). Surrounding the mall are a number of hotels, chain restaurants, and fast-food restaurants on the outer perimeter. There's something for everyone. It's packed on weekends, so you might want to plan your trip accordingly.

Decent selection of stores

By Alex |

This mall has a pretty solid selection of stores including anchors like Macy's and Kohl's, discount stores like Marshall's and Burlington, and specialty stores like Bath and Body Works or Fossil. What the center lacks is a good layout. Unfortunately, the mall is a giant Z shape which means when you get to one end, you have to walk all the way back to where you started.

Nice Mall

By Gbuerklin |

This is a nice mall to visit great variety of stores and I loved the Rainforest Cafe. However I am giving this mall a 4 star review because I had to deal with a pushy kiosk vendor who tried to get me to buy $175 skin cream. Not everyone is a millionaire and they need to understand that.

Big and boring.

By phototraveller22 |

If you like a shopping mall you can go there. It is a bit bigger than your average shopping mall but hasn't got anything you won't find elsewhere.

Not a huge shopper but the new remodeled areas are very nice

By Tami W |

I don't go to the mall often but was pleasantly surprised by the newly remodeled areas of the mall. More upgraded stores - nice new choices.
