You will need to get off the highway and walk out onto the bridge if you want a view. Heading from Nevada into Arizona, you couldn't see anything because of the wall dividing the east/west lanes. That's probably a good thing since people will gawk at it.
If you do head to the parking area, be aware that it can fill up quickly. It is a tour bust stop, wo people show up in droves. The picture is pretty epic though. It's definitely worth the time.

This was a fun trip and an easy drive from Vegas. It was beautiful and fun to see this amazing site.

This is a must see on your vegas vacation. Can't really comprehend the scale of this wonder until you walk across and look over.... but be careful!!

beautiful structure. Glad it was dedicated to an American hero in Pat Tillman. Super windy up there, if you're afraid of heights this isnt for you.

go take some dam pics, learn some dam facts, and do some dam walking, what is there not to like.its pretty dam impressive

Stopped here on way to Grand Canyon. Parked and walked across the dam. Has food in cafe which was okay. Walked to visitors centre but you have to pay to go to viewing platform. Drove up the road and viewed dam from bridge. Good to see but glad we did not make a day trip out of Vegas.

We bought the Go City pass and took tour out to Hoover Adam, it was nice AC view of all the bridge. We walked the big new bridge and got wonderful pictures and selfies.

Our tour bus driver Pam was wonderful on the dam tour. She was very knowledgeable and a great driver in the Henderson traffic.

Stopped here during a Go City pass NPS Hoover Dam highlights bus tour. Nice views and pictures ops. Car and large vehicle parking. Lots of signage on the process of building the bridge. There are about 4 stories to go up stairs or the differently abled ramp.
It can be less than 30 if you are walking and just getting a picture. I could see it taking 2 hours if you went to both side and read all the information they have about the bridge.
Large lot parking for cars, large Buses or RV’s. I’m pretty sure they had two restrooms that had lines.
I would recommend.

Very beautiful bypass from Hoover dam with amazing views. Actually the view is better than walking on the Hoover dam . Must see!!

Hoover Dam is a must to see in person. We spent about 6 hours on a day trip traveling from Vegas. It was totally worth it.

A great feet of engineering for it’s time and the new bridge is a great tribute to local heroes.
The lake is worth a visit and you can see how much the water level has dropped. Had a nice lunch on the jetty at the lake and the prices were reasonable.

i would be a bit of a transformers fan when i went optimus prime not home also sector 7 have left the dam is truly a sight to see amazing the work and labor involved the bypass is not for anyone with a fear of heights would make a great place for a base jump only problem where to land this time around i have noticed global warming on lake meads levels you can also see the lakes original level on dams intake towers another 30 years navada could go dark

Such a massive and impressive structure with amazing views. There's a lot to learn about it so i would recommend taking a guided tour to it. Will be back to explore and learn more!

This is an amazing engineering marvel. Go to the lookout area. Plenty of parking and you can walk across the bridge and get a great view of Hoover dam.

The Dam Wall is quite impressive. The water level is very low due to the drought. But apparently, floods in Yellowstone NP will feed Lake Mead and it might be a good experience to witness the rush in of new water.

This was beautiful. The Hoover dam was nice and the bridge was awesome. Disappointed that the toes were not going on due to covid. Def a place to go and see.

Spectacular. One of the largest dams in the world. After seeing her in countless films, seeing her live, from the bridge in front, is truly breathtaking. An impressive work.
To access the area it is necessary to pass security checks and it is not possible to fly drones near the structure.
As for the walk to get to the bridge, it is relatively short. There is a car park from which you can climb up a hill and from there you get to the bridge that overlooks the dam area and from which you can best admire what an engineering work it is.

Very impressive engineering feat. Bridge and visitor center were closed but you can walk across the dam. Restrooms on the dam are 30's throwback but very clean. Views down the dam and spillway are almost scary.

Very interesting visit. Beautiful site to see. If afraid if heights. I wouldn't recommend. The walk up the stairs is not for anyone that has a disability but there is a ramp for wheelchair or scooters. Highly recommend.

This has been on my bucket list for some years. Finally I was able to cross it off. I could not image how big this Dam Bypass was, but up close and in person - says it all. This is also a must see!

This was nice place to visit during the day while in Vegas. There is multilevel parking available. It's a good engineering marvel.

We stopped here on our way to the Vegas airport on the way home from Sedona and did the bridge (which was crazy windy, the kids loved it) and then parked and walked around the dam. It was late so no tours were available anymore but still super impressive to see this structure.

Rented a car and took family to the Hoover Dam. I have been there before and they have added a home security check point now. Did not take long to get through the check point and beware that these guys have no sense of humor. Parking was $10 and we did not take a tour but walked around ourselves. They have plenty of bathrooms. They have a nice cafe and gift shop. Picture taking was great. Lot of walking to do but there are elevators in some places. We also parked at the various senic spots and we walked along the bridge over the Colorado River. The water is so down as there has been a drought for the past 5 years. We really enjoyed the trip.

The view from the bridge is stunning. Highly recommend you walk out on it for some awesome pictures.

Such an educational experience, well worth the short drive from Las Vegas. Can't believe how the completed during the times of the depreciation.

What an engineering feat! Unfortunately the tour was marred by non-functioning AC in the 105 degree heat...

Lots of walking so wear comfy shoes, well worth it, The sights were amazing and it was Free. very educational.

We didn't do the tour but we still enjoyed parking and walking across the Dam. If you have a Handicap tag or license, you can park for free in the parking deck on the left side of the road before the Dam. You can then take an elevator to the walkway which goes across the Dam. I would also suggest that you go to the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge which is before the Hoover Dam coming from LasVegas.

Our group made a stop at Hover Dam, there were no tours available but it didn't really matter, we walked around and read all the info available. It was amazing to see it in person !

I almost didn't come on this for because I thought it would be boring. So glad I went. We took a tour on one of the smaller van tours. Our guide was awesome. We stopped in Boulder City and saw wild sheep at a park, as well as several different spots for views of the dam and Lake Mead. All with some history of the area and lovely scenery. It was a nice break from the strip.

Our second visit to the dam. Still marveled at the engineering feat of the dam. Amazing accomplishment. The weather was hot that day, but that did not spoil the fun.

We saw the dam, we walked the bridge, we read every sign and it was so worth the time and the energy spent!

On our way to the Grand Canyon we experienced the Hoover Dam. We climbed to the dam by pass and it was a beautiful view and sad to notice the lack water. It is a nice stop, and there is a visitor center ( we did not visit the center). We were there about 30 minutes , there are bathrooms available, but are very simple, no flushing, etc. Great Photos.

thought it was not worth the $10 admission no tours so just walk around would take a pass next time and just walk around myself .
He also asked if we were over 61 but then charged us the full fare I asked him so no discount for over 61 and he said no only on the tours and they are not operating at the moment.
So why ask I asked him he said just habit...

This is a bridge my friends. You park and take a long walk out to the middle of a busy BRIDGE. But your reward is a spectacular view of the Hoover Dam and Colorado River that will stick in your head for years to come. Why? The bridge is an all-in sensory experience. The bridge is very high. The cars are roaring by...it's a vehicle bridge after all. The views are spectacular. It can be windy. In the summer it will be nasty dangerous hot. Oh yeah, this is the real deal. And it's free. Don't forget to include it as part of your visit to the amazing Hoover Dam.

We did a helicopter tour over the top of Hoover dam and it was amazing to see the size of this structure, truly was a great experience

We drove from Vegas just to see the Hoover Dam Bypass and it was worth it, but we did see other things along the way and that made the day even better. We stopped at the part to see the goats, then went on to Lake Mead, then on to the Hoover Dam Bypass. We walked out on the bridge about half way and took photos but be warned it was VERY windy and we saw that many people had lost expensive hats. We passed a lot of people walking the other way and so if you think you will "have it to yourself" you are mistaken. We wanted a good picture of the supports so we also parked down at the visitor center for a photo op. It was very hot that day and to be honest it was too much for me and I had to back to Vegas. Be more prepared than I was. Tank top, extra water, sunscreen, etc. Parking costs $10 and you have to pay to go into the Visitor Center.

If you're visiting Las Vegas, it's worth taking half a day to visit the Hoover Dam. We walked across the bypass. Drove across the dam, took lots of pictures, and purchased a few souvenirs.

Hoover Dam is a beautiful location to drive over to to get a break away from Vegas. The views are wonderful, there is a gift shop that gifts and food. Clean restroom.

Its a must visit place in Vegas. Should definitely visit Hoover Dam and learn about the engineering and history of the dam and how it has changed the lives of people. Water and hydro power.

It was very hot so we didn't spend much time there. The dam is an engineering marvel that makes it worth visiting.

This is definitely a bucket list must on anyone's list. It is amazing. I would combine with Grand Canyon tour. It can be very hot. wear sunscreen and hydrate.

The Hoover Dam is definitely a must see while in Vegas. It is such a part of U.S. history and ingenuity that it is remarkably it was completed ahead of schedule and under budget. When does that happen now?

Be ready to be amazed. Only negative was due to covid the only place open was a small cafe and the gift shop. The Hoover Dam was not offering any tours. The gift shop owner was incredible. We found a sweatshirt our son would like but not in his size. We were given Joe’s number and asked to call the next day. Unfortunately they did not get any additional sizes in, but they followed up and called us back.

The tour was closed due to covid but was still a good time. Nice weather and it's so nice to get away from the strip. It was a pleasant and short drive. They had the tour on loud speaker for anyone wishing to hear the details. Was a nice outing. Great parking and food options within.

See this before the water is gone! Impressive views of the bridge and Hoover Dam area. Only disappointments were that the explanatory signage is sun bleached or worn, and the water is receeding.

The view is amazing. I just drove across then turned around later and drove back to see all that I missed on the other side. It's high but not as scary high.

Fascinating how something so large in nature and made can make you feel so small. It was definitely worth seeing.

I had done this many years ago and once again it did not disappoint! Awesome structure and a must see whilst in Vegas!

there is no stopping here driver must continue to move some else should take the photos. fantastic view.

Beautiful view. We loved it! A must do while in the area. Made me want to learn more about all dams. My daughter 24, Hubby and I could not be happier of the stop.

What can you say about this wonder. It is a must see in person! Make sure to take water as it gets really hot.

Hoover dam is a sight to see. You do realize how big it is until you see it with your own eyes. I highly recommend a trip there.

We did this as part of our Hoover Dam tour - what a feat to see. It is walkable to go to the bridge and great picture opportunities!

We really enjoyed all things at the Hoover Dam. We were taken back by all the information. You think you have an idea but you just don't. We enjoyed the full tour which really was only an hour. But so much information. The memorial bridge was just in credible. Don't leave the area without walking across that bridge.

We traveled over the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge several times. If you get a chance make sure you walk the bridge so you can take in the whole view slowly instead of flying by in a bus or vehicle.

My family and I recently embarked on an excursion to the iconic Hoover Dam, and despite some unexpected twists, it was a memorable experience worth recounting.
The weather was windy, adding an extra element of adventure to our journey. Despite the gusts, we had a blast exploring the area together. However, we encountered a slight hiccup when we realized, albeit too late, that only service animals are permitted on the premises. Nevertheless, our husky seemed to relish his scenic walk, adding a touch of charm to our visit.
We made our way to one of the many lookout options, eager to immerse ourselves in the rich history and breathtaking views that awaited us. Pausing at the lookout, we took a moment to absorb a brief overview of the dam's history, marveling at the sheer magnitude of human ingenuity and hard work that went into its construction.
The panoramic vistas stretched before us, offering a glimpse into the past and reminding us of the remarkable feats achieved by those who came before us. From the towering structure of the dam itself to the serene beauty of the surrounding landscape, every aspect of the vista was a testament to human perseverance and determination.
Despite the minor setback with our furry companion, our visit to Hoover Dam was an unforgettable experience filled with awe-inspiring sights and cherished family moments. It served as a poignant reminder of the importance of both historical preservation and enjoying the simple pleasures of nature's beauty.

Amazing views and picture opportunities from the bridge's pass. You'll have to just go down the visitor center and climb up to the top (to bridge level). But, if you're afraid of heights, you'll have be happy taking pictures from the side of the bridge.

You have a spot before the Dam t see the lake.
You could park your car in the Dam location : $10
After you could walk on the Dam.
Very impressive, but not necessary to stay more than 1 hour...maybe less

So incredibly beautiful - be prepared for a windy experience, but well worth the visit. Wish we could have scheduled a tour but there wasn't enough time.

Hoover Damn is amazing and wonderful. The structure is breath taking and it’s massiveness is hard to overate. Parking is $10 and can accommodate larger vehicles easily. Although we did not do any tours, there was a plethora of options available to fit every need and budget.
On the third story of the parking garage there are some great photo opportunities! Make sure you hit em before you go to the damn itself!
Make sure that you go with full tummy’s! The cafe there is a joke. The prices are super high and the food quality is like high school cafeteria food, no offense high schools of America! Be smart and get a quality meal anywhere else.

This place in cool to see. We parked in the free area and walked. The paid parking was 10 dollars and was a few minutes from the free. Was Interesting so see. The vistor center was 10 dollar. It was worth the 10 dollars. You got to see a video about the history and go up to the observation tower.

The Hoover Dam is a short drive from Las Vegas and I highly recommend taking the time to visit. The tours offered are very informative.

We would like to come back when the tours are open again. It is very windy, as to be expected. Just seeing this place in person was pretty cool. It is family friendly. Definitely do research or some teaching about it before visiting.

I always love visiting here! It's so spectacular to look over the dam down below. We didn't take the tour this time but we still had a great time!

Low water level. This dam that could hold back millions of gallons used to be worth visiting but with this low water level, will not be for much longer.

it was great to see the Dam and all the things around it. I took a lot of pictures around the damn and will tresure them forever.

The work that went into making the bridge is amazing, as well as the views. There is a pedestrian walkway separate from the road. Can be windy, hold your hats.

This really isn't as spectacular as one would have you think. One trip is all you need to experience this engineering marvel of its time. The elevator that's supposed to take you to the bottom NEVER works. And I can't help but think about those who gave their lives and were buried in the concrete used to construct the Dam - They just kept working, knowing someone fell in. That was a period of time in American History that I hope will never be repeated. Other than looking at a bunch of water being held back by concrete, surrounded by mountains of dirt, there's nothing else to do there. I heard some women getting out of a tour van that went to the Dam - They were all sighing with relief to be back at their hotel (Excalibur) and exhausted from the long drive. And not one of them had something good to say about the trip. Again, it's not my thing but you should at least see it ONCE in your life.

Traveled there with my wife and another couple we've known for 40 years. I stopped here in 1991 while on my way to Nellis AFB. My wife and friends had never been. They loved the experience! Beautiful country and the damn is aw-inspiring.

Fantastic view of the dam and the lake. Beautiful walk across the bridge and easy walk up. It wasn’t that long of a visit, but we topped it with lunch in Boulder City and it was a great outing and a break from the noise of Las Vegas.

Did this tour with sweetours found on TripAdvisor. We added on the lake mead boat tour after the hoover dam tour since the inside generators tour was closed due to the pandemic. We were picked up at our hotel, the MGM Grand at 8 am and we stopped by Boulder City where dam workers were housed from 1931-1935 during construction. Dam was originally called Boulder City Dam but was changed years later after president Herbert Hoover. 96 people died during construction and none are buried inside the dam supposedly. This engineering marvel was an incredible sight to see and we also went on the extension bridge between Arizona and Nevada. Definitely a must see for those in Vegas, only a 30-40 minute ride. Do the lake mead boat tour as well.

Informative visitor centre and even free of charge. You can walk on the bridge and take pictures. Lots of parking available.

An overall exciting experience. Our bus driver allowed us to stop and take pictures. Scenery is breathtaking.

It was awesome to learn more about the bypass and able to go take pictures of the dam. The only issue is that the bypass is pretty much unfinished in my opinion, at least for the pedestrians. I think it’d be great if you could have another exit/ entrance on the Arizona side instead of a wall. But the views are nice.

Wow! What an amazing view! I must warn you that this is not something for those who are at odds with heights, but the views make the it worth leaving your comfort zone for a bit. It’s an honor that they would name the bridge after someone who had it all in sports and left it to support his nation after the tragedy of 9/11. Such a stark contrast from what we see in today’s sports world.

Although the Hoover Dam tour is closed, the walk on the bridge was breathtaking. Great morning to enjoy the view.

The Hoover Dam is absolutely amazing! The architecture is very impressive. It was cool to be able to cross over into two different states.

Excellent construction , joing two rocks with such a civil engineering project , construction man at their best to make this

This page should be renamed to reflect the actual name of the bridge, the Mike O'Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. The walk up to this bridge is fairly easy if you're in shape but several people in our tour had difficulty and in the Nevada heat, it made it even harder for them. Once you get to the bridge, head to the 1/4 point for the best angles for photos but don't stop there. After you get your photos, head to the apex of the arch but the official state line between Nevada and Arizona. If you're afraid of heights, this might be a challenge.

Got to see an awesome view of the Dam and didn't cost a thing. If going to Dam this is a must place to go and see Dam from. It is a little bit of a walk from the parking lot but definitely worth it for the view you get of the Dam.

If you're okay walking a bit, found the tip to park on the AZ side to park for free. We got there around 10 am on a Tuesday so probably our luck to have space.
Kids loved that we crossed back and forth the Stateline walking and driving.
Restrooms are clean.

This was our first time using the bypass and it was great. It saves us a lot of time and we didn't care about seeing Hoover dam.

The Majestic Hoover Dam and its Bypass bridge in Nevada ….. a marvel of engineering and construction. Beautiful views of the lake on the way to Hoover dam , some great scenic view points for pictures…. Good drive out of Vegas….

First time visiting the Dam. We were able to drive over the Dam and park and walk to view. Parked in the free parking area. The water level was low and good see in the rocks and pillars how high it had been at one point.

This is my second time seeing the Hoover Dam. My first time was 20 years ago. It’s amazing how low the water level is now. Very sad and concerning. The first time we did the tour inside, this time we just stopped to view it. Park on the AZ side for free and then take a quick 5 minute walk to see to Dam. We went this time with our teenager boys and they were amazed. My husband knows quite a bit about the Hoover Dam, so he gave a little history lesson as we drove from Las Vegas, which is only about 40 minutes away. This is a must stop on the way to the Grand Canyon. It’s seriously hot there with no cover, so put your sunscreen on and wear a hat. But hold on to it, since it is windy.

Always interesting to see and walk around. But way too many people and not enough guards. The tours are VERY expensive and not that interesting. Dont waste your money!

It was a really nice drive across the damn. If you go across and keep going up there's even a better viewpoint. Pull over and take pictures. It's a must. Sheep a giant rattlesnake and lots of tourists.

It is a powerful view from the bridge. We did not take a power plant tour because of time restrictions. If you are close by, visit. Don't drive two hours, though 😊.

last time i went to vegas we went over the dam, there was no bridge, thankfully there is now, cut alot of time off the drive !!!

It's a big bridge! Very windy which is a break from the desert heat, just hold onto your hat! Great view of the dam and river below.

Go early and you'll find parking adequate, though it fills up pretty fast by/before noon. There are towers with clocks, one for Nevada time and one for Arizona time. Taking a photo with one foot in each is double the fun! Looking down on the dam gave me a slight feeling of vertigo, and I've never had a problem with heights! As a lark, I looked for the 'car blocks' as depicted in the earthquake movie with The Rock (San Andreas) but didn't see any.

The views were amazing. Unfortunately Covid did not allow for private tours. We did walk the Tilman bride - it is amazing!

Short drive from Las Vegas, highly recommend this drive. The dam and the highway connecting Nevada & Arizona are spectacular. The tour is well worth the money. Recommend driving just past the paid parking for free parking

It just one of the those places to mark off a bucket list! We did while on spring break in Vegas.
Boulder City Nevada is the home of the massive dam. If you think about the time it was built it true is a modern man wonder.
The waters seem low while we were at the look at, but massive and beautiful.
Go before 4 because the gift shop and yours close early. You can always stop take few mins take in the view at the look out points or walk the bridge.

Beautiful area. Checked out the dam, the bridge and the lake. It was a chilly day so not busy at all. Wish you didn't have to pay to park near the gift shop.

We drove over the bridge, which, in my opinion, offers the best views. We then parked and did an underground tour (it was the only tour we could do with a stroller). I could barely hear what was said on the tour, as I was staying away from most people and focusing on my kids, so I missed a lot. But walking around outside is a nice way to take it all in.

We booked this trip with a tour company I hate we didn’t just go ourselves, it appears as though we missed seeing a ton of things.
If visiting Nevada and you’re close enough, I say go visit it's worth it

There is a parking lot where you can climb the path to the bridge and walk halfway across to get a spectacular view of Hoover Dam! It's very windy, so hang on to your hat. It's 890 feet to the Colorado river below. 2nd highest bridge in the US!

Hot but enjoyed the history of the building construction
Sad that the government can’t get their act together and make sure the water will be available 20 years from now

I really enjoyed learning about Hoover Dam and the amazing breakthrough in technology that it represents. It is fun to walk the bridges and see the water below. Unfortunately, the drought is a big issue

Yes, park your care and take the time to see and walk across this. The view of the dam is incredible, and standing on this engineering marvel is inspiring.

I have been to Vegas multiple times, and finally made my way out to see the Hoover Dam. It is only about 40 miles from The Strip, an easy trip by car. There is a parking lot at the bottom of the bridge where you park. It is small, but there weren’t many people when I went (Monday at 10:30am). There are 4 restrooms available as well. There are stairs or a ramp to get to the bridge. It looks much more harrowing from the bottom, but it really isn't that far to hike up it. Be aware, once you hit the top, there is an area where the wind is very strong, it blew off the sunglasses of the guy next to me and they broke. Hold onto your hat, phone and sunglasses. The best photo op is right in the middle.

Although the Hoover Dam visitor center was closed during our visit (been there before), we had not ventured across the the pedestrian walkway on the Mike O'Callaghan - Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. Recommended! The views of Hoover Dam, which is an incredible feat of engineering, are impressive. We walked out to just past mid-span towards the Arizona side. It is still hard to get the full impact of how big the dam is from this high vantage point, but it is no less impressive. Great exercise, great views. So glad we did it.

Very sad to see how low the water level is, but it is still beautiful. I think paying to park and to get into the visitor center is a little excessive.

Dont miss this when visiting the Hoover Dam- puts it really into scale. Awesome photo opp and close to vegas

Definitely worth the trip to the bridge as the dam. Both incredible feats of engineering. Look out for the memorial plaque to the dam mascot dog - cute story of humanity.

It is just unimaginable how the engineers had that courage to change life.
I was shocked when I saw that enormous construction and how it works to generate electricity.
It is a great place to visit and think how everything starts to have energy at home.

We visited Hoover Dam 16 years ago and the bypass was being built then. We were excited to come back to discover that we could walk across the bypass and see spectacular views of Hoover Dam! Great job on the walkway up to the bypass and all the information about the construction of it. We would recommend checking it out when you are visiting the Dam!

Swore I would NEVER go up on this bridge, but is has AMAZING views of Lake Mead, the Hoover Dam, and the Colorado River. NOT for those who don't like heights and the trek up there has lots of steps. Worth the effort to climb up to the bridge. Read the signs and dedications. Good history. Look for markings on the bridge also.

A n definite stop when you enter Nevada from Arizona. You can climb stairs or use a ramp to get to the highway level and have a full front view of the dam.

Don't miss this amazing part of American History and engineering marvel. Read up on the history before you go because during COVID, all tours are closed so you must rely on the limited markers at the dam or your own research to get the full story. Walk along the Pat Tillman bridge to get the full scope of the dam. It is a little unnerving with traffic so close to you on the bridge, but there is a concrete barricade that is around 5' tall to protect you.
The gift shop and cafe were a nice surprise. We stopped in Boulder City at the Coffee Cup Cafe and enjoyed an amazing lunch there. Don't miss Boulder City- there are cute shops and friendly people who know the history of the "pop up" town that grew due to the construction workers on the dam.

If you want to see the dam from the drive over the freeway bridge, it wont happen. We took the bypass and parked. Walked back and forth and were there maybe an hour and half during covid restrictions so not much was open. Great views and great pictures though. Kids liked the walk around too.

We went about halfway across the Memorial bridge to view the Dam from this angle. It is an amazing place to view the Dam from, the kind of experience I didn't know I needed to have until I was there. Put it on your bucket list before Lake Mead is gone...

It was interesting to hear about the construction during the depression. We took pictures from the overpass bridge, so it was not quite like in the movies. Its was really high up. Our bus excursion stopped briefly as we were on our way to the grand Canyon.

A must-see when in the area. Really interesting history and great views. There is not much in the way of facilities around so make sure you pack water and snacks before you head there. You can cross the border between Arizona and Nevada and also at the right time of the year you cross time zones.

Fun day touring the Hoover Dam and Bypass with Gypsy Guide Audio Tour from Las Vegas enroute to the Souther Rim of the Grand Canyon. Well worth the money to be entertained and educated on the sites we saw. Loved his tips on what to see and do.

A fantastic sight, complemented with a Hoover Dam tour made for a great day. Even though there is plenty of information telling you how it was built, you still marvel at it and wonder how it was possible. Breathtaking.

It is a great place to visit if you are traveling towards Grand Canyon from Las Vegas. View is beautiful and really mesmerizing !!!

Definitely worth a visit to the Hoover Dam. First, check out the lake. Then to the bridge via the stairs or walkway. Then cross the bridge from Nevada to Arizona. Then drive down and then look up. Then the height of the bridge becomes clearly visible.

Wonderful Landmark! Glad that I took the time to visit. Lots to see! Took a great tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

The views of the Dam from here are amazing. You truly cannot beat it. Great for singles, couples and families alike.

It was very interesting to see how high the water level was 20 years ago. I didn't realize how much of a drought we were in until I came here!

Although the damn was closed due to covid, we were able to drive through and make stops for pictures. You can park in the ramp for a fee or go over the damn a find a space to park for free. But be prepared to walk. Beautiful views and interesting history. Amazed by the number of wires carrying the electrical power easy from the damn.

this overpass is really cool. its located high in the mountain and when going across gives you the perfect views of the hoover dam.

Beautiful bridge with photo opportunities about halfway across. It really is a sight to see. You have two options to get to the top: the ramp or the stairs. There are educational plaques along the way.

This was really cool to see, but I wouldn't spend hours and hours to drive only for this attraction.

It is really nice to see how people from Vegas get their water from and how to consciously conserve their water.

The Hoover Damn is so phenomenal and is filled with such rich history. The view is absolutely breathtaking!

Always a must, when visiting the Hoover Dam. Easy parking with a short walk to the bridge, Great views.

Very cool history and world landmark with so many lingering benefits for the Western USA still to this day. Very educational, beautiful "great gatsby" style 1930s architecture & decor. I recommend stopping in Boulder City on your way, and view the free museum inside the main hotel to get the history before going to view the actual dam and bridge. Also, wear walking shoes!!

I am not completely sure that people understand what this actually is. Most of the reviews are of people going to see Hoover Dam. This is actually the bypass of Hoover Dam, meaning the road and bridge created so that there is no longer a huge line of cars snaking down the cliff, across the dam, and back out the other side. This is actually the bridge that cuts off about 30 minutes on the drive from Arizona to Las Vegas. You can still see over the sides of the bridge if you stop, which I am sure has a great view of the river below.

Been there - done that - before but still amazing to see - we drove over the dam and parked at a spot then drove back over and parked in parking lot area (handicapped parking was free) and we walked around a bit there also

We visited the Dam bypass with an organised trip. We didn't have much time here but it is definitely worth a trip, the views are amazing!

The sheer scale of this place is something else. It's quite the feat of engineering, and finding out the stories about how it was all constructed is so educational. If you don't have time to drive to the grand canyon, take a trip here, and then the scenic route home. Well worth it!

Well worth the short drive from the Las Vegas strip. Until you see it in person you can not appreciate the size and engineering of this structure. It is truly breathtaking. Make it a nice day trip and stop for breakfast, explore the dam, and then continue on into the Lake Meade National Parks.

We just did a quick drive through on our way back to Phoenix from Vegas. I wanted to show my 10 year old the Dam. I wish the telescopes up at the top still worked. She was pretty unimpressed, but it was hot. It does give you great views of the damn and cars let you see the scale.
It’s at least worth a quick detour. I’d love to walk out on the insane bridge when it’s not 110.

We visited this as art of a coach load flying visit to the Grand Canyon west. For me that was enough, I wasn’t to fussed about seeing the damn. However having been driven over it and heard all about the history I was impressed! Worth a look ! They offer more in depth tours if your interested but depends what you want from it.

You could make it a day trip if you want to take the time to do the full tour. Well worth it and it was an incredible feat. If you don't have a full day it is worth the trip to go take a look and at least see it from the outside1

Easy 45 min drive from LV. Plenty of free parking, 10 min walk to bridge. If you don't like heights, do not go!

The bridge is the best view of the dam. We initially passed that viewing area and went to view it at the top of the dam, but went back to the bridge where the views are much better.

It is a fun place to go. You can take a lot of photos. There's a bridge🌉 that you can go on to see the Hoover Dam, but you you were scared of highs or you don't want to walk to far, I recommend you not go. You can just walk on The Hoover Dam. You must remember to take photos📷.

We went to Hoover Dam and it was great. right next to Lake Mead. The view was awesome. The weather was good.

Pleasant half-day trip. Stopped at a museum in a town close to the dam. Visitor center still under restrictions.

A lot to see in Vegas. Plan to walk or Uber / taxi alot. Looking forward to returning to check out a show or out of town activities.

Last time I was in Vegas, we drove across the Dam and I saw this bridge being built, saying, "There's no way I would ever go across that thing!" And then this weekend, we took a tour bus from Vegas to the Grand Canyon, and we drove across this very bridge. Twice. And I lived. It actually wasn't nearly as bad as I was afraid it would be. So to my fellow bridge chickens-- it's not so bad.

A Magnificent view of an Architectural Marvel. We have been on top of the Hoover Dam many times but to see it from the Bypass is somethings Extra Special. A trip to the Hoover Dam is not complete without seeing i from the Bypass. We also did the Pontoon Boat ride which starts at the base of the dam. We have seen the Dam from all angles, it is worth the effort.. Naturally we also did the tour through the inside of the dam too.

Only a 30 minute drive from Vegas,Hoover Dam and lake mead is an excellent choice and Educational lesson for kids. The bridge has all the info about how long took and what was the Engineering behind the scenes.Mike callaghan and pat Tillman Bridge.

While in Vegas we rented a car so we spent our last day driving to Hoover damn def worth the drive and we did the tour to learn more about the history to the damn. Def worth it and all the went to make the damn and why they did.. what a beautiful place. I would def go back!

Wind Wind Wind lol If you love wind and fabulous views this is the place. If you arrive by car there is a walk up to bridge either on a ramp that is gradual or a longer though the more direct way being the stairway but glad to see it's accessible. once on the bridge the walkway is wide enough for a fair amount of people and you get a tremendous view of the Hoover dam itself and while not the same as the feat of building the dam one does get an idea of the amazingness of bridges like this. Hopefully, it stays well maintained for many years to come. In any case, it is well worth the experience of seeing and walking over the bridge.

Hoover Dam and Bypass visit is 100% worth the time. It is impressive both in terms of history and cool structures ( with plenty of first, biggest, highest tags) But the most impressive is the view!
To get there, put in Hoover Dam Visitor center in Google Maps. (Otherwise Maps will put you on the bypass bridge, where you can't stop or park). For an easier approach for those who hate heights, drive from the Nevada side. The drive is down a gently sloping mountainside, with protective sidewalls.. You reach the ByPass bridge parking first, where you can park and climb. There are both stairs and ramp walk up with protective railings. The spectacular view covers the entire the dam, with the lake and the river gorge too! Very windy up top, so use hat ties.
You can also drive down further to the Hoover Dam itself, and drive across the dam itself! Though the visitor center has a fee and there are tours for a higher fee that allow you to see the turbines and the history through a movie. Tours are in the afternoon, and requires comfort in walking down steep staircases.
Covered parking is available for $10. Other Parking is along the slopes, so be prepared to walk down to the dam. The dam history, planning and the structures are easy to identify with informative plaques.
For most months the weather is hot...so cover up and use sun screen. The water level in the Dam and the river is really low...so seeing the overflow photos near spillover area makes it an emotional visit.

Visitor center is closed even though it said it was open on the website. Very disappointing. Also the cafe was closed. Hard to cool off.

We had a great bus driver that went above and beyond. He provided history, and took us to a secret spot to. The Hoover Dam is a must see.

It was nicve to cross over from Nevada to Arizona on the hoover dam. When your travel on Rte. 93, you cannot see the dam.

From the bridge, this is the best location for pictures and views of Hoover Dam. Free parking, but the lot is small so you may have to goto the secondary lot which is a short walk.

This is a very impressive dam nearby Las Vegas. You can see it from the motorway or decide to action a focused visit. In any case, you will enjoy the majestic view.

The bypass is a must! We went during the day, road our motorcycles from Las Vegas out to the dam. We didn’t do a tour or anything, but the sight from the bypass was so breathtaking we didn’t regret not taking one. We parked (for free) on the far side of the bypass and walked over it to the gift shop and cafe. We grabbed a small bite to eat in the cafe - the ladies were SO nice there - and then walked back to the bikes and road back over the bypass. Just beautiful views. Once in a lifetime experience.

My aunt and I went to the dam for photos and she was thoroughly pleased at seeing it for the first time in her life. We took pictures on the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. She enjoyed the walk up to the bridge even at eighty.

Having been to Las Vegas over 100 times from the 70's till this month, I always get excited about Hoover Dam and the new HWY 93/ I-11 bridge. Per 9/11 the crossing was over the Dam. 9/11 changed that. I watched the bridge being built from 2002 until 2010 when it opened. You can walk across the bridge on the Dam side put one foot in AZ the other NV and look 955 feet to the water below.

Strongly consider if you visit the dam because it is one way to put the size of the structure, and the effort that went into it, into perspective. Also, the trail us dedicated to two individuals with interesting stories that are told on the short walk. Up several flights of stairs from the parking lot, then a short walk to the middle of the span to get your pictures.

We drove here only about 45min from Vegas. The Hoover Dam is a must see here. It is very very hot during summer so pack alot of water!

This area is fantastic and feels like you're part of Man in the High Castle. This man-made feat is really amazing. Be sure and walk across the bridge to see the info posted on it about the building of the bridge.

Forget the $15 fam tour. This bridge is way better and it's free to walk across. It's an easy hike up to the bridge. They have ramps or steps.

It's amazing what was built back then and a great trip to combine on the way to the Grand Canyon or go straight to Boulder City in the evening.
You can also book a guided tour, it's worth it, a great experience, I've been there three times already

This is an impressive sight. It's a short drive from Vegas. There is plenty of parking once you cross over the dam and the views are espectacular.

A must see if you are in Las Vegas. So impressive and beautiful! We visited on Sunday and it was not crowded. Only short 40 min drive from the city. Spectacular.

We spent most of the day in the Valley of Fire State Park (can get to Dam from the park) so didn't get there in time for a tour (closes at 5pm) but walked the bridge (I'm scared of heights to this was terrifying to me) but driving over the bridge was cool to go from one state to another and change time zones. A must see once in your lifetime monument.

On the way to Las Vegas, we stopped here. We walked along the visitor bridge and it was very worth seeing.
A hell of a structure. If you are here you should make a short stop

I visited Hoover Damn with my family on a bus tour and I enjoyed every minute of it without the hassle of having to drive. Highly recommended!

Drove across the bypass, we were also able to walk across the bypass. Very windy be sure to wear a jacket! Bring camera great photos of Hoover Dam and river below!

Really amazing to stand in a place that is so rich in geographic importance with stunning views of the Hoover Dam and Colorado River.

Visited late morning after the Hoover dam tour. Got one of the last parking spots. Lots of steps up the bridge. Extremely windy, could barely keep my phone still to take photo. Great view!

Much smaller in real life, underwhelming to be honest. Think it was photoshopped to look bigger than the transformers in the film. Go to the elan valley in wales if you want to see a proper dam this dam was made by beavers and sticks not machines. Best thing there was the DeLorean experience but I don’t remember the hoover Dam in back to the future so makes no sense. Average dam at best.

Make sure you take the time to visit, it’s awesome. If you get a chance take the more extensive dam tour!

The most obvious attraction was the dam itself, but the areas around it were more interesting. Don't miss the HUGE vortex across the street. Gave us vertigo looking down.

We stopped here on our way to Las Vegas from Los Angeles. It is worth a visit but once you’ve seen it you’ve seen it. There is a lot of steps to climb from where you park. There is lots of space to view the dam.

I'm so glad we found this place! It's 100% free and has the best views of the dam. It's a short walk to the bridge from the parking area, but the views are totally worth it! Don't miss this!

Not as good as being on the dam itself, very windy day, lots of stair/ ramp climbing. Still a sight to see.

If you have the chance to stop and walk along this bridge, do it! If you have a fear of heights, this is not for you. The view is gorgeous. The winds are treacherous.

There is a climb uphill to get to this lookout. 4 flights of stairs or the ramp up. Great views of the dam, was expecting a visitors centre and just assumed we were in the wrong place. Didn’t bother to try and drive around to find it, just left.

I’m bummed I can’t remember our guides name he was FANTASTIC! The stops were great just wish we would have stopped so we could actually walk the damn.

Such a beautiful site to see with such lovely scenery. A little scary but it is a must see adventure. It is best to take a tour bus and let someone else do the driving.

Amazing, amazing. Went through "Comedy on Deck Tours" and this trip was fantastic. The tour guide and driver were excellent. Don't let the length of the tour (6 hours) dissuade you because it does not seem that long. Would do tour again if opportunity presents itself.

The short walk onto the bridge affords the best view of the Hoover Dam. It’s an easy walk from the parking to the center of the bridge.

Well worth the trip if you are anywhere near the area.
Easy to navigate to the area, parking and washrooms available prior to walking up to the bridge observation area.

We highly enjoyed our trip to Hoover Dam. We stopped by on our way to the Grand Canyon and it was worth the small detour. The dam and Memorial Bridge are beautiful.

The walkway provides a great place to make photos. One note of caution is to beware of debris coming from vehicles on the highway. Once of our party was hit by a rock coming off the highway. Luckily, not a major injury.

We, unfortunately, went on a Sunday during the later pandemic stage and the place was a 3 ring circus....very, very crowded! In the future I'd never go on a weekend!

Visited in August 2001. Was 120 degrees F in the shade at 10am. Otherwise is a beautiful view and something you should make the effort to see.

This bypass was the best thing ever built. Saves lots of time to get across, save 1 to 3 hrs to get across to AZ to NV

A visit to the Visitors Center is well worth the $10 admission. Joining a tour that takes you into the workings of the dam is interesting but not essential to the appreciation of the dam and dits use to the Southwest region of the US.

It is interesting, but would be better if have more time for photos, including on Dam it self, we only stopped very far, on the last parking lot, and did not know (or understood) we would not stop on Dam area for more photos, much of my photos were inside the bus, with bad angles.

This is a must-do if you’re going to Hoover Dam. It’s an in-and-out walk across a bridge that gives you an awesome perspective of the dam. There is a parking lot there with restrooms.

Of course we walked across the Hoover Dam bypass when we visited the Hoover Dam. It was an excellent view.

We drove around and then parked and walked over the bridge. It was even more beautiful than I had imagined! Maybe next time we will have time for the tour.

I've been to Las Vegas many times and was never to the Hoover Dam. We rented a dream car and took every opportunity to go everywhere in it! So the trip to Hoover Dam was perfectly timed and then so very appreciated! This is an impressive bit of Americana -- I hope people will take the time to visit!

Although it seems expensive at the time, learning the history from trained guides makes this a worth while experience and with water levels dropping to the lowest levels seen in 75 plus years or when the dam was opened, it would be a shame if Lake Mead were to go dry and Tourists not being able to see this wonder of engineering from the 1930's. Head of the Engineers was a Canadian and this makes us proud when they outline who, when and where this marvel of engineering came into existence. Hoover was a man before his time with an extreme vision which is unfortunate because as a politician, there are not more people like him in the US Senate & Congress today. Don't bring your firearms or drones as Security clears people entering the complex. Lots of walking up and down stairs and could be an issue for anyone who is worried about confined spaces but otherwise, well worth the visit and worth the 45 minute drive outside of Las Vegas. Plus you can stand in two different time zones at the very same time!

Nice and beautiful view. Make sure to visit the bridge before entering the hoover dam. From the bridge located by the main highway, you can experience a large view and take beautiful pictures.
The location is or it was cash only. We didn't take the museum tour since the location and the pictures from outside were nice enough.

Tour really isn't necessary. I would drive over the dam and park in the AZ parking lot for free. Walk around the dam area and check it out. Then go up to the free upper lot and walk over the bypass bridge and take in the sight. Incredible.

The first time I visited the impressive dam was in 1997 and a lot has really happened since then! The bridge from which you have a great view is New Even if you now drive to the Dam, the car is checked first! Crossing the Dam there are some free parking spaces and lookouts available! If you are on your way to Grand Canyon or Las Vegas, you should definitely stop here.

A great visit driving and walking over the bypass … it was very hot so take plenty of water. Definitely worth the walk.

The ride in is just as amazing as the dam! Beautiful mountains and the wonder of the dam. The walk from the parking lot wasn't very far and there were multiple educational items on the way. Worth the time to come visit! Definitely recommend.

Breathtaking views of the dam. Interesting tour of the inner workings (it pays to take the full hour tour). They were doing construction and parking was chaotic and far away, with no room to drop off even a handicapped person. Entry to the tour at the visitor center through security was difficult and staff was rude. Reservations have to be done on site at time of entry.

This is the Highway 93 bridge that spans the Colorado River, but it has a pedestrian path that provides an excellent bird's eye view of the Hoover Dam, and it is probably the best view of this engineering marvel. It is also now known as the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. You can walk to the bridge by parking in the lot off the Hoover Dam Access Road after passing through the security check. It does require quite a tough climb up steps from the plaza area to the bridge, but the effort is well worth it.

No trip to Nevada is complete without a visit to this magnificent man made marvel. How did they ever put it up there? God definitely made the best marvels, but He also made some very smart humans.

Beautiful! We wish it was all open for the full experience we under stan with covid . We will definitely come again. We got Beautiful pictures

This was awesome and informative. Michael was was the best guide ever. I really had a good time and felt like we got to see any and everything about Hoover Dam.

our first time to the hoover dam and it was an exceptional experience! i highly recommend planning an excursion here. we did the tour and it was very informative. beautiful!

All cars go through security; makes you feel safe. Neat to walk around, everything is closed because of COVID but we would like to go back to do the tours.

With my family we went to Hoover Dam Bypass, the truth I was afraid of the feeling of height but the view is great, it inspires tranquility, we liked the engineering work and the ability of humans to change their environment.

A great way to see the entire dam with beautiful outlook all around it’s a little of a hike to get to the top but well worth it

Be prepared to walk a great distance. It is worth the trip to see the dam from this view. Gorgeous landscapes. Informative signs along the way and in the parking lot. A wonderful free adventure.

what a wonderful site. so many lookouts too. walk over the dam but also walk over the bridge above. So Fun!

Another good option for a short break away from the strip noise. Husband and I enjoyed visiting the dam not sure the kids liked it as much. we didn't do the tour as we felt the main attraction here was to peer over the edge and take a look at the sheer scale of the project.
Parking easy next to the dam

How this dam was constructed along with visual aspects was amazing to see and learn about. Walking across it was breathtaking.

If you're coming from Vegas and manage to go over the bridge, you've went to far for the Hoover Dam and will end up in Arizona.;) Impressive bridge. Cannot see over the side barriers when crossing the bridge.

Incredible feeling when you see such beauty. You immediately merge with nature with a view. It's very relaxing.

The dam itself was closed so we went to the lookout instead. It was a great place to get the scope of the area.

can no longer tour down into the inner workings of the dam. scenic drive to get there, can do some walking, but might be better to drive yourself rather than pay for a tour. will get more out of a self guided experience

We stopped briefly on our way out to the Grand Canyon and what a view....so amazing to know how and why this was build and so long ago! Worth making the stop - we didn't do the full tour - not sure I would want to with the limited time we had - but well worth the hour stop we made to read up about the dam and take a few photos.

Stopped by to walk the bridge to look over the Hoover dam. The view is amazing. Make sure to take water in the summer as there is no shade anywhere. It was 115 degrees when we walked the bridge, but we really enjoyed the view and the experience.

This is a high Elevated Bridge but hard to view dam when crossing bridge due to the high side barriers. We visited the dam and loved it though.

Great way to safely get fabulous views of Hoover dam. The walkway is isolated from the road so you can really enjoy the views of Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. Short walk up to it from the parking area, though on a hot day you do feel it.

In order to go to the barrier, you first have to go through a "security guard" who asked us if we have weapons with us. When we went it was a little hard to find free parking and we had to drive all the way to the Arizona side and then down the dam. We were wondering how they built this huge building, the temperature was very high, you definitely need water and a hat, and near the souvenir shop there was a huge fan. The view was breathtaking and we also admired this monument to human engineering. Through the official site it said that you have to pay for the entrance which finally turned out to be a lie.

Super fun and John Holmes was a great guide, we were well-informed of the history behind the Dam and also about Vegas

A quick stop. What we saw and heard about was really good.
Would like to go back and get the full tour.

We are locals and took our kids to walk up and take pictures on the bridge. Fun, safe, social distancing activity.

The power plant tour is absolutely worth the time and money! This structure is amazing and learning about this engineering feat is so great for kids and adults! We took the tour, looked around both inside and outside, then got the aerial view as we flew home the next day. It was very worthwhile!

I'm very happy they made this bypass to safely see the dam. Plus the view is spectacular! It's a bit windy so be prepared and not wear a hat.

Do not miss a visit to Hoover Dam. Unfortunately the guided tours have been suspended during the pandemic, but there is enough in the visitors center to tell you all about this marvel, history, and how everything works. Seeing the ingenuity and dedication that led to this marvel makes you proud to be an American.

The view from the bridge was amazing. I would have liked to tour the dam but we didn't have time. Would like to come back

The Hoover Dam is an impressive building. You must subdue yourself to make a stop. Reflections on the engineering art that has made the dam possible. But don't forget to think a little about how the temper of the Colorado River probably provides electricity to 400k households, but also has changed the river's ecology for placese.

The views are great. You will marvel. There are some cars that stopped to take photos, but! This is not acceptable. The safety ramifications are to be taken care of before doing something stupid.

This place is about a 45 mins from Las Vegas.
One of the best features of my trip to Las Vegas. It is a true marvel to look at and a feat of Exceptional Engineering.
Tips:
- There is ample paid parking
- There is a cafe as well
- Wear comfortable shoes as there is walking involved
- Take a water bottle with you
- About 1-2 hours are enough to enjoy this place
Loved it !

Best view of the dam and a good option if you don't want to take an actual tour of the dam. Don't need a ticket. Still need to drive through the security checkpoint. The main parking is on the right when you first drive in, but it appears there is overflow parking across the street if necessary.
And a bonus is there is a ramp if you have mobility issues or simply don't want to do any more stairs. I do not recommend wearing a hat on the bridge. Can walk all the way across the bridge if you want, but really only need to go midpoint to get a good view.

A fantastic experience. The tour is well worth the money and the views are incredible. I am guessing it would be really crowded in the holidays but it was ok when we went and free parking was available.

We took the bypass when travelling from Arizona to Vegas. It was efficient but you don't get to see anything but the highway.

An incredibly magnificent human achievement. You cannot see much while on the bridge unless you stop and get out of your car.

One of man’s major engineering achievements. Plenty of parking, limited catering, clean toilets. Worth taking the guided tour and learning all about it and the trials and tribulations of the construction. What is worrying is the effect of climate change on the water levels

Well worth taking the tour; so much interesting information about its construction and the panoramic views were incredible.

What a grand place, literally! An engineering spectacle.
The visit is definitely worth it!
There is an on-site store for snacks, drinks and bathroom facilities.
We took lots of photos and good memories of this magnificent place.

The mighty Hoover dam. Never a disappointment.
Amazing destiny!! worth every penny.
Do not miss this great destination

Hoover Dam is a must if you in the area. It’s remarkable. You can park your RV and there is no cost. The views are so good. Very hot day we were there. Take lots of water, hat and sunscreen.
I would highly recommend

What a amazing place to see. We took our 7 and 10 year old and we were all in awe! The hour and more expensive tour was definitely worth it to us. The views were amazing being in the dam was amazing. I’d recommend it to anyone. I also believe they will allow children under 8 now, there also was a lady in a wheelchair chair in our group.

Great Engineering. Really impressive views. The entire experience is interactive, meaning you can actually drive and walk in both the dam and the bridge. Drive to the Arizona where parking is free and honestly has better views. Walk across the full length of the bridge. Due to covid, the museum was closed, but honestly, you get the full experience from the outside.

Such a fun day trip from Las Vegas. Quick tip? If you drive over the bridge, there's free parking on the other side. I'm happy to pay for the very nice parking garage.

Booked "Get Your Guide" 4-hr tour of Hoover Dam and Lake Mead (highlights tour) - so worth it!! This could easily be a full-day excursion. Our tour included stops to cross the bridge/bypass, the Lake Mead overlook, the National Park station/overlook at Lake Mead, and Boulder City (Dam Museum). The stop at the bridge/bypass was a little too quick (only 20 minutes), but still worth it!

Part of the Max Tour package and extremely well guided with great historical details and understanding of the visual effects of climate change and the dramatic effects it has had here

Worth to take the time to appreciate the history and work put in to build this structure. It is surrounded by great views and a sadly decreasing water level. Be a tourist of your home and the world.

To a car and quick trip here. Be sure to wear walking shoes and not be scared of heights I did not tour but enjoyed walking

We were staying in Las Vegas and had a rental car. We drove to the Hoover Dam about 45 minutes away. Easy parking. I did look on their website before going and it said due to Covid that they weren't selling any tour tickets. We got there and they were. We asked about tours and the guy said the website hasn't been updated in over a year. We wanted to do the powerplant tour but the next available time was 3 hours later! We opted for the visitor center self guided tour for $10 per person. That contained a lot of info and was great. if you read every sign, you could be in there for awhile. It was a super hot day so it was nice to be inside the air for a little bit. We walked across the dam and took pictures. When leaving we drove to the Memorial bridge parking and walked halfway across it to get a straight on view and pictures of the dam. Th bridge can seem scary for those who are afraid of heights. The railing is high and there is a huge concrete barrier between you and the traffic whizzing by but it can still seem scary. We wore sunscreen, had hats on and carried water with us. It was very needed! We went July 5th and it was over a 100 degrees.

It was a very awe inspiring trip. It is a work of art and a very peaceful place to visit. It was very interesting and I will go back once they completely open back up to visitors.

On a recent trip to the SW, we drove over this bypass three times. Spectacular views by day, and even more dramatic at night when the dam is illiuminated by flood lights.

I liked learning the history of the Hoover Dam. It is sad to see how low the water level is and the why.

lovely view! we stopped by for pictures. wish we could walk up on that bridge! definitely memorable and worth visiting.

I saw it being being built. The first time in 2007. Nice place to enjoy the power.
For a movie goers - this place also features very often in hollywood action movies.

It's a nice spot, offers a good view. But I'm not sure if you need to go and see it. Maybe if you're on your way, you can stop and take a photo.

I travelled across the dam when I was a kid 50 years ago but what a view it was to take the bypass and see it after all these years. WOW

This bypass makes a trip west to Las Vegas so much more convenient, and quick. But you will have to drive to an overlook to view the dam and the Colorado River, where once one drove over the dam, not so quick. If time permits, it's worth the side trip, off highway, to take a look at the scenic view of the dam or to take a tour of this wonder of engineering.

Drive across and then park on AZ side when its FREE. Don't do the tour if you look want a looky looky

Quite a site to see. Reading about the history of the bridge and the damn was great! Breathtaking views and definitely a must see.

The hoover dam was not fully open yet. No tours at this time. We walked the bridge and surrounding areas and found the views to be postcard perfect.

Seeing the dam up close you realize what an amazing feat these workers accomplished. We walked across the bridge which was just about all you could do on the tour we took, which was disappointing, but you do get a close look at this amazing wonder. But, had I known that was all you could do, I would have driven since I had a rental car and at least I could have spent more time at the places I wanted to see and photograph the most. If you have a car, DRIVE! Don't waste your money on a so-called tour! Don't know what the problem is with the visitor center as going inside wasn't an option either, as our bus driver indicated "due to political reasons." Can we please stop judging everything based on politics?!! But, nevertheless, seeing the dam and the bypass is a must do!

Boulder City is amazing and a great place to take kids to learn a little something. Hoover Dam has quite a story.

Our Sweet Tours driver told use some really great info that I never knew and he was very knowledgeable. I recommend me this for anyone and any age.

Don't miss the Hoover Dam on your road trip to or from the Grand Canyon. This awe-inspiring structure is a testament to human engineering. A great place to stop for a good view is the Mike O'Callagan Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge Plaza. Lots of parking spaces here, though there's a separate toll to enter the area. Stretch your legs on the short 10min walk to the middle of the viewing bridge overlooking the Dam, snap some photos, and soak up the birds eye views before continuing your adventure. The bridge is even accessible with a huge ramp up to the top, just be prepared that it may be too much for those unsteady on their feet or for those afriad of heights. But we think it's a perfect stop on your journey!

We had the opportunity to see the dam, returning from the Grand Canyon excursion, I honestly expected something more, I think this attraction is excessively overrated, I didn't feel any emotion looking at it, nice yes but nothing more, I don't recommend Going there specifically to see it, it's not worth it.

Our dam tour took us to see bridge, well it's a bridge. It's cool to see dam from it and heros it's named after it. Besides that it's a bridge get some truckers to honk for ya. P. S. Very hot on bridge in summer. Don't leave trash too.

Reading the signs there about the Hoover Dam, seeing it and the Callahan-Tillman bridge, walking across both, and thinking about what engineering feats they both are well worth the drive. The tours are cancelled due to Covid, but being there is still amazing!

A must if you stay in Vegas. Amazing to see & driving over the dam gave me goosebumps. Definitely recommend.
You can view from the bridge then dive down & park for $10 or drive over.

Provides a nice view of the dam without having to go all the way to it. The walk from the parking area to the bridge and back should take less than 30 minutes.

Well worth a visit. The view from the top is breathtaking.
The drive out is pleasant too. Don’t pay for the car park, there is free parking once you drive over the dam.

The views of Hoover Dam are great. It is extremely windy so if you want to keep your hat either take it off before you start across or make sure it has straps. You will lose it if you are not diligent.

You can park up and walk onto the bridge, which gives really nice photos of the dam, then carry on down to the dam and take photos of the bridge.
Not much more to say that that really !

Stopped here on another tour and definitely glad we didn't opt for a full tour, some great views but a bit boring otherwise, very 'school trip' oriented in my view.

The Hoover Dam covers 80% of Switzerland’s electricity needs and also guarantees regulated water supply to almost 40 million residents. Impressive, isn't it?

cant say to much i was driving but we did stop to walk the Dam before we crossed the bridge so you can do both

Amazing sight to see. Lots of walking. Drive to the top and look down. Water was low when we were there so we couldn't really see how it works.

The inside and tours were still closed, but its still worth a trip out there to see. You can walk over the dam and the bridge to see everything. It was 130 degrees so we didn't stay long! On the way there you pass through the desert and see Lake Meade which is also beautiful. I hope they resume tours soon!

We were driving to the Grand Canyon and stopped along the way. It was interesting and only took about 10 minutes, but I would not make a trek out to this alone. It simply is not worth it.
It was easy to get to and plenty of parking (you have have to stop briefly to go through security and literally answer one question) but it doesn't take long. Visitor Center was closed so I can not say anything about that.

I went here as a part of a day trip and was worth it . Good pics and history is explained on site. Wil do it again

This is a must see even if it's a once in a lifetime visit. Amazing views of the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. It is pretty windy up there so be cautious. There is a ramp for handicapped individuals so that is not a problem.

We visited Hoover Dam through Gray Line Bus Tours on a Thursday morning in May 2024. Our tour guide, Michael, was the best, with non-stop jokes about Las Vegas, current events, and the tour we were about to embark on. Michael was informative about what we were seeing as we passed by each stop, with exciting tips and facts along the way. He made sure that each person was given photo opportunities at each stop and that we were greeted back to the bus with a warm smile and a cold drink (water.) We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in seeing the man-made wonders of the US.

The Hoover Dam Bypass is the O'Callaghan-Tillman Memorial bridge which was built some years ago to alleviate traffic congestion on the old road atop the dam itself. The high arch of the bridge is in itself a fantastic sight from down at bridge level. But the main attraction is the pedestrian walkway along the north (dam-facing) side of the highway bridge.
First of all, note that it is *really* high. This is definitely not a place to go for anyone who has no head for heights. The bridge is solid, but the wind can be quite strong at its altitude.
The parking area for the bridge is after the dam's security checkpoint and is easy to miss. About half a mile beyond the checkpoint, look for a sign to the "bridge scenic view" pointing to the right. The parking lot is good sized, but can still be crowded. There are public restrooms there. Beyond the parking lot, a long zigzag ramp (with bypassing stairs) leads up to the bridge level. Along the way are interpretive panels about the men for the whom the bridge is named as well as information about the design and building of the bridge itself.
Your reviewer doesn't mind heights much, but the high winds and the highway traffic whizzing by just a few feet away were constant distractions. Nevertheless, the most excellent view down to Hoover Dam was absolutely worth the effort. Watch for the panels in the walkway: there is one for the center of the span, and another for the border between Nevada and California. Also, if you visit later in the afternoon, the shadow of the bridge itself will fall on the dam, adding additional visual interest.

We enjoyed touring the Hoover Dam Power Plant. we watched an informative video and then took an elevator down to view the comstocks. It was the shorter tour that did not go into the dam itself.

Since all of the shows in Vegas are cancelled, it's nice to break up the casino gambling by taking a day trip to the dam. Weather was great for walking and drive out there was peaceful. The gift store was open so we were able to buy souvenirs.

The tour was interesting, the dam is beautiful. Worth seeing at least once. Didn't have the courage to go across the bridge!

I stay and wonder what the man can do. The Dam is fantastic and his dimmension is huge. The wiew it/s amazing, i made a spectacular pictures. It is a place for those who want t have an imppresionant experience.

i suggest using the ramps as opposed to the 69 stairs at that altitude, if you are not used to it. was worth the climb

We did not get to do the tour as it was closed on the day we arrived, but we still enjoyed walking around and taking in the sites. It was absolutely amazing!

This is just a concrete bridge, but it looks amazing spanning a huge distance between cliffs and is architectural pleasant to the dam and its engineering. On the way to the Grand Canyon or a nice 35 minute drive from Las Vegas.

A quick trip from Las Vegas, a visit to the Hoover Dam is a must. The Hoover Dam Bypass is the best way to view. It also has excellent access with parking and an accessible sidewalk.

This bridge offers a great view of the river. The wind can be brutal up there. Campers, RV and big rigs have to be in the left lane to go over. Northbound takes you into Nevada, southbound takes you into Arizona.

This is a great quick stop in my opinion. You can pay to get in, explore, and learn the history. If that's your thing it looks nice. But for me, driving across both ways and stopping at a free overlook on the road was plenty. It only added 15 min driving from Flagstaff to Vegas which it is just 20 miles outside

If you are planning on stopping at the Hoover Dam be sure to walk out onto the nearby Pat Tillman bridge. The parking lot is on your right once your car clears the security checkpoint. From the lot it is a relatively easy four flights of stairs up to the walkway. Tip - It can get pretty windy up there so be sure to take your cap, sunglasses, etc. off. It can also be loud since you are very close to cars speeding past on the highway (but there is a huge concrete wall). It is all very cool since you can get a direct view of the Hoover Dam below. Great for photos and an amazing intro to the dam dam itself.

From the bridge you have a beautiful view of the Hoover Dam. To get to the parking lot for the bridge climb you have to leave the highway at Exit 2. The parking lot is after a security checkpoint. The climb is via stairs or a ramp. The view is worth the short detour.

It was a beautiful day 62 degrees with sun. We walked the railroad trail to see Hoover Dam. There is a cafe to get food or an ice cream at Hoover Dam and they offer tours. Just enjoyed the outside structure and bridge.

Also known as the Mike O'Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge provides magnificent views of Hoover Dam and the Colorado River. The dam is hard to see from the road itself unless you are in a high-profile vehicle such as a tour bus. So for a good view walk the bridge.
To access this bridge walkway you turnoff Hwy 93 pass through vehicle security enter the parking lot then either climb the stairs or walk up the switchback ramp. The stairs are quicker.
Upon reaching the top you pass through a couple pavilions that explain about the bridge and construction involved. Just prior to entering the bridge walkway is the dedication wall for the bridge.
If you have the time while passing by or before or after your visit to the dam take the time and walk on the bridge for nice photos of the dam complex.
Hoover Dam
Walking across the Hoover Dam Bypass was breathtaking. Looking over the railing and seeing one of the wonders of the world. Imagine 3200 men working 24 hours a day and finishing this project 2 years early. A few feet away, cars and trucks are speeding over the bridge.
