Spent a couple hours at Intrepid. Impressive military history, WW2 Pacific. Many planes in hangar and on deck. The growler submarine available for tours too. 3rd hanger has interactive activities for kids. Enjoyed tour through Intrepid bridge deck, speaking with volunteer hosts, some retired with personal experience of the Navy. Family enjoyed the Intrepid and learned quite a bit too! Bonus!

This was amazing even though I couldn’t see everything as it’s not all wheelchair accessible I still enjoyed seeing the aircraft carry and all the jets . Interesting day .

I chose this for my 50th birthday treat! I loved it and my wife said she really enjoyed it too.
Some of the aircraft are a bit dated but still good to see and enjoyable. The craft on the main deck are really good as is the space shuttle experience. Some space on the lower deck which shows possible improvements to come but plenty to keep you entertained.
We almost passed on the submarine tour but glad we didn’t - it was very interesting.
A shout out to all the volunteers - some really interesting veterans with brilliant stories, make sure you speaking them and get them talking!! It’s worth it!

The ship itself is amazing!lots of walking to do good for exercise!fun for tour around.Submarine is awesome to see as well.

We squeezed this in on our last day in the city and didn’t really have enough time to do it properly. 4 starts purely because we didn’t see Concorde, the submarine or do the Apollo exhibition. I am sure they were all great. The aircraft carrier and the planes aboard were enjoyable. It was a really hot day and the command section of the carrier was uncomfortably hot. A bit of a cramped greenhouse! Other than that, it was great. There are a lot of aircraft here to keep a military aviation aficionado interested for a considerable time. We would have loved to do the rest.

Great experience. Lots to see including the aircraft carrier itself, a submarine, a space shuttle, and lots of additional airplanes on the deck of the intrepid. Very cool. The additional cost for the Concorde is as a little disappointing, so we don’t do that but otherwise a great experience. Would definitely recommend!

Visiting the intrepid turned this old man into a little excited boy. I love military stuff. You should arrive early, you will need at least 5 hours to absorb all the amazing facts about the Essex class aircraft carrier. Plus, there is Concorde, a space shuttle and a submarine to take in.
You will be very tired afterwards, but full of military facts.

Intrepid was a fascinating museum with so much to see. You could easily spend 3 or 4 hours there. We toured the submarine and the aircraft carrier. The prototype space shuttle was also there. Unfortunately, Concorde was not there at the time we visited. There were numerous exhibitions and films. The film footage of the Kamakazi pilot attacks on the ship was fascinating. There was a large number of planes and helicopters, including the 'Top Gun' type of plane.
We used the New York Pass, so were able to go straight into the museum without queuing.

If you are slightly interested in the history of wars and navy and airforce then you will find this interesting.
The exhibits were interesting and well laid out - mixture of videos, pictures and stories was good and kept me interested with some of the stories about the actual wars the ship was involved in too.
We spent so long exploring the Intrepid and the planes on it we were running out of time so had to only do a quick visit to the space shuttle and never made the submarine so can't comment on that. It was a pity that Concorde is not there presently as would have loved to see that. Even so this kept us interested for far longer than I thought it would.

.........is the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. You should definitely walk or climb through the USS Growler submarine - if you are physically able to do so. If you are taller, you should of course be extremely careful not to injure yourself (especially to the head). There is more space on the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid. This carrier, which was once used in combat, has a large number of aircraft on deck (the majority of which were of course not based on the carrier during its active career), but are nevertheless very worth seeing. Unfortunately, a tour of the carrier is only recommended or possible for people who are physically able to do so; this is because there are many - sometimes narrow and steep - stairs to climb. Unfortunately, the Concorde supersonic aircraft - which is normally also on display on the deck of the carrier for viewing - had been taken to Brooklyn for a possible overhaul until spring 2024 and could therefore not be viewed. All in all: Check it out!

This is my favourite place to visit in New York City. So many amazing aeroplanes, fighter jets, helicopters etc to look at (including my favourite the SR-71 Blackbird and getting to go down into the USS GROWLER was a tight squeeze but fascinating to see how cramped it was and explore the submarine. Would recommend to any NYC traveller.

A must see for anyone who is interested in military aircraft and the ships they flew off.
Plus the two fastest aircraft in the world. Concorde and the Blackbird.

Worth a visit when in NYC. Nice setup overall and the the space shuttle was really interesting to see. The U-boat was also interesting, but be prepared to wait in line during the tour/walk.

There are plenty of areas and items to have a look at here. Lots of information is available, and it's interesting to have a walk about the carrier.

We visited last week and loved it, so much to do and see! The guy doing the talks (Scott) was great and very informative. We ran out of time due to our flight home but we managed to see most of it. Would recommend 👍

Overall an amazing experience for a great price. The ship itself is fantastic, with plenty of space to walk around and explore, without ever feeling crowded. Lots of aircraft in the ship itself, including the space shuttle Enterprise. Submarine to visit is also on site, be sure to queue early at this one can get busy. Highly recommend visiting be Concorde and doing the tour. It’s only 11 dollars and lasts about 20 minutes, but you get to go inside the Concorde and sit in the first class seats, being given a talk by an expert. It is really fascinating for any aviation lovers.

We took 29 adults/high school musical students to New York. Our students sang on the Intrepid. They set them up with pop machines as the background. The kids did not enjoy this museum and would have liked more time to explore 9/11 Memorial.

I loved my visit, I don't know fan of museums usually but the one was impressive. For the visit of the boat and submarine it took us about 2h30.. I advise

The Intrepid is a great way to spend several hours. There are lots of planes, helicopters, submarine & a really nice museum. We also paid to sit in and learn about the Concorde, that was very cool too.
Overall nice way to spend the day

This museum is my husband’s happy place. There’s so much to see and do, particularly if you are a military history buff. There are static displays of airplanes, the aircraft carrier itself as well as a 1950’s sub. Allow at least a half a day.

Good idea to do this excursion. How many times do you get the chance to visit an aircraftcarrier, a submarine and a spcashuttle on one day. Lots of history, mu advice, buy tickets on like to skip the cue, including a tick for a 3d movie, very impressive, and a simulator if you want, less impressive. Arrive early, cues fur the sub can be long. If you have a ticket with timed entrance ie at 10, you will be the first to be in the sub. Lots of guide to tell about the ships too.

My partner and I really enjoyed this place and we found it to be very enjoyable, my personal highlight was the Concorde experience which was at an extra cost of $13 which was well worth it, the talk onboard was very informative and interesting, it was great to know I actually sat in the seat Sir Paul McCartney used to have onboard this aircraft, the guide talked though some stories of the rich and famous that actually flew on this plane, the walk through the submarine was a real eye opener as was the walk around the ship especially on the top deck. Highly recommend.

The visit allows you to see uncommon aircraft, both on the deck and in the hangar and outside, the shuttle used for re-entry tests in the atmosphere, a concordade (pity about the ticket apart) in a particular context as the aircraft carrier itself.
When we went there there was also an MB339 of our PAN on loan.
Very interesting, ultimately, the Recommendation to flying enthusiasts.

Worth every penny. Loads to do and see. It is a humbling day out. Probably not the best if you have restricted mobility due to steep stairs and narrow passageways. Also if you’re claustrophobic it might not be the best especially on the submarine. Exceptional experience and I have absolutely no faults. There are veterans there who have served on the ship and can give excellent insights.

Brilliant museum, so many different aircraft to see. Not only is it just an aircraft carrier with aircraft on, it has a space shuttle, submarine and the Concorde!
Well worth the visit.

we bought the C3 pass, so we choose to go to this museum as one of our attractions in the pass. It does save you some money compared to the regular ticket price

Getting into a real submarine and getting into an aircraft carrier are not things that happen every day.
Experience to try, especially for anyone who is passionate about military vehicles and aircraft.
I was particularly impressed by the submarine and the idea of what it could be like to live in it for 72 consecutive days in the depths of the sea: to go out of your mind!
Families with children will love it.

I must start by saying that both me and my husband are extremely hard to please when it comes to experiences. The truth is, you never know if you vibe with a place. It may be overcrowded to the point that you can’t enjoy anything, staff may be absent or rude. Things can get confusing, especially if there’s a language barrier or you’re visiting for the first time. However, I would genuinely recommend this museum. It’s so beautiful and full of history. You can explore the air craft carrier, and a submarine. The staff is there to explain everything in extraordinary detail. Definitely an experience you won’t forget. Came from Europe to NYC (10.000 miles) and was NOT disappointed. Both me and my husband put this museum on our top 3. It was extremely hot in July, but we would do it again in a heartbeat. PS: the views of the city are incredible.

Found this museum by accident in guide book and it was an amazing find. Spent a couple of hours here but you could easily spend a lot more there. Done extra activities such as apologise vr experience and simulator, great fun. Very surprised how much all enjoyed it.

The museum is well kept, the attractions a wonderful mix of history and modern tech. The kids were kept captivated and us oldies really found the displays absolutely wonderful. The video of the kamikaze attacks was both touching and moving. What a great experience everyone who visits and lives in nyc should go see

We were lucky that our cruise ship docked in Manhattan, right next to the Intrepid museum. A very easy walk!
It is open everyday, weekdays 10 to 5 and weekends 10 to 6 in the summer. Tickets are $36....$34 (seniors) PP. If you are veteran it is free (do bring a valid ID , such as VA or something that shows your are a veteran). There are some tours that are extra $.
For the general admission you get to see the submarine the aircraft carrier and space shuttle pavilion. There is so much to see, lots of planes, lots of exhibits etc.
Some of the areas are not accessible to those who mobile impaired.

It is a museum where the view of the Bay, the Enterprise, Concorde and Submarine surprise you with their Architecture. It's a must if you're a lover of Human Ingenuity.

Beautiful museum with interactive activities, spectacular submarine planes and helicopters from the Cold War with spotless bar and bass service.
Recommended to do with guys

If it were not for the Bank of America Museums on us program I would not have known about the USS Intrepid Museum. This attraction is more than just an AWESOME World War 2 aircraft carrier. It is a space exploration museum where you can actually climb into vintage space craft. The museum celebrates Civil Rights, American History, and honors the Veterans who died on the USS Intrepid. My Grandfather served in World War 2, the story needs to told to future generations. The USS Intrepid Museum is a Tier 1 must see museum in New York City.

Excellent Museum with lots to see. Im very much into military history and space so this was very interesting. There is so much to see from aircraft from the Vietnam era to NASA Space shuttle. The ship is huge. Which saw lots of active service. I particularly liked the veterans chatting to people as you go around. Lots of tight spaces so maybe not so great for someone not very mobile. This was one of the best sites in NYC . I would highly recommend.

Absolutely fantastic museum and a full day out for the family. Lots to see and experience. The submarine was a highlight.

An amazing and moving demonstration of American bravery, ingenuity, foresight and education.
Have seen pictures and read about aircraft carriers and aircraft, it is really worth seeing in the flesh.
Oh and the space shuttle on the deck is a pretty monumental extra.
Beautifully air-conditioned inside.
Thanks to everyone who preserves this legacy.
Love from London

What I saw was really interesting, but we weren’t allowed on the flight deck due to snow and ice, causing slippery conditions. I think they were trying to clear it, but of course it takes a long time to clear the flight deck of an aircraft carrier. They didn’t know how long it would be until people could go on the flight deck and I didn’t want to hang around indefinitely. I wish they had said something before we went in. Didn’t go on Concorde because it was at the end of the jetty, and when I arrived there was a sign saying it cost extra to get on, which I knew, but I had to go all the way back to the main building to get a ticket. Given the cold, wind and icy conditions I wasn’t up for it. Next time I will go when the weather is better. Lesson learned.

Incredible family museum to visit! My 8 year old son couldn’t get enough of the planes on the upper deck and enjoyed sitting in the captain’s seat inside. The submarine was also cool but had a line to get inside. I’d suggest checking the weather before heading here because much of it is outside on the river which can get unpleasant when rainy and/or windy.

It is not common to be able to visit an aircraft carrier, even more so in this setting on the Hudson with New York in the background. You will delve into the history of this ship which participated in the Second World War against Japan and then in the Vietnam War. There is an anthology of planes and helicopters on the flight deck or inside, you can visit a large part of the building including the command posts and the highlight of the show, there is the prototype of the space shuttle at the end of the bridge. Next to it, you will find a submarine (separate ticket) and normally a concorde (not present this winter). To do with the family and also for enthusiasts.

A good option if you are a lover of military history and World War II in particular.

I visited this massive aircraft carrier last year -it was a promise I had made to one of my kids- and we were lucky enough to had an incredible weather that day.
There are a lot of things to do in that museum, from flight simulators to view WWII aircrafts, and also go to a restaurant in the lower decks. Give yourself plenty of time when you go there because time flies.

Great museum also for younger people. Includes a exhibition of war planes at the upper deck, the command tower, view on the inside of the ship including the living parts for the 3000 personnel. In addition there are some cool extra activities, but cost extra ($15 each). Two extra things that are nice is the apollo mission exhibition and the visit to the nuclear submarine (a must). There is queue for the later, so do not leave it to the end.
A 3-5 hours different visit.

Really interesting and staff members working there that had served on the ship. Concorde was also on the same site we paid an additional $11 each to go on it which I loved. All in all a good afternoon

Our older son has this day on the Top of his wish list. He was really prepared especially about the story of the Concorde. This day was not only fun but really useful for them. We booked our appointment to enter the Concorde and it was absolutely a must!

The ship shows so much of her mission in World War II, not only what you see in material, image and sound, but also the personal stories, of those who were present in that battle.
I was able to meet and speak to 2 passengers from the time, that alone is an experience in itself.

very informative and all 3 sections were interesting. Be prepared to wait for the sub and take the heads up seriously: lots of low tight spaces bit awesome to see. loved info on women and minorities in the service

Much better than expected. Very engaging for all ages. learned a lot of history about the Intrepid.

I was super excited about visiting the Intrepid Museum!
We bought tickets on arrival and was told that the Space section was closed I believe it was for renovations? I was a bit disappointed that it was still full price even though part of it was closed and it was the part I wanted to see the most but we still went in.
We went on a rainy day but it didn’t spoil it at all! Firstly we went on the Submarine and had a look inside and it was great to see how everything looked inside. We then made our way to the top of the aircraft carrier where all the jets and helicopters are they are extremely impressive to see and to read about!
Inside it was very fun! We paid to have a go on the G Force Simulator and wow it’s great!
There is a lot of reading in the museum so I would make sure you have quite a few hours free when you visit because you do not want to miss anything!
I would love to come again!

One for me this geeking out 7ndercan actual Space Shuttle. If into military history and nostalgia id recommend. Was the main event of the Enterprise i loved. Wish i could of touched it

This was something my husband wanted to do whilst we were visiting New York. The museum is fantastic and so must history. You can explore lots of things and there's loads of videos to watch. There's also concorde to view

We spent 2.5 hrs here and could've easily spent around 2 hrs. There was so much to see. My 6 year old enjoyed exploring. It's a nice way to experience history.

My second visit, this time with my godson.
A crazy world, 1 hour waiting to visit the submarine, we gave up.
But the rest pleased the young man.

Perfect visit!!!!!!
Booking tickets ultra fast!!!!
Convenient to quickly access the museum!!!
We recommend!!!!

Impressive and informative exhibit. Nuclear submarine is a must see - very well preserved. Space shuttle Enterprise is great too.

I never thought I would walk on an aircraft carrier but I was wrong! The airplanes on deck were fascinating and the inside bridge tour was interesting. Both the inside Intrepid museum and the adjacent space museum were well organized. Give your self several hours and you still won’t view it all!

Very nice experience, enjoyed to see the history of America and meet ex-navy staff to explain and give instruction of how things was working. In general was a good experience although one I didn't like was that I wasn't able to a picture with my 360 professional camera. A security on the top of the deck said is for safety reasons, it was no busy and the selfie stick was not even 1 meter high, it was the smaller one as my camera can have it all, unreasonable request the space is open I was away from the planes, in fact in the middle of all airplanes. Seriously before you go prepare your self if you have an action camera and you want to do the same. I suggest you advise the people before the booking so we know in advance. I would have bring a different camera if I knew, so I was disappointed I didn't get the video and photos I wanted. As I said it has to be mentioned when you book tickets.

Within the museum’s hallowed halls, echoes of history resound. Every exhibit, meticulously curated, exudes an air of authenticity. The erudite docents, adept at their craft, readily unraveled my inquiries.

Great experience. A lot of planes on display. You can move around and it’s fairly interactive. We were there when it opened in the morning and had reserved tickets - great way to avoid the crowds. A lot is outside so try to avoid coming on a rainy day. You can also go inside a submarine. You can easily spend a couple of hours at the museum - probably more if you have a special interest in airplanes. Our boys 13 and 15 enjoyed the visit.

We spent an enjoyable morning and lunch here. With a submarine, a space shuttle, a Concorde and plenty of aircraft, there was something for everyone. I would definitely recommend booking tickets in advance if you know you are visiting so you skip the much longer admission line. If you would like to sit inside Concorde (walking around the outside is free) then make sure you book the add-on ticket well in advance for the time you want.

We had an amazing experience! The trip was well worth the money—great value for what we paid. The kids had a fantastic time and truly enjoyed every moment. Highly recommended for families looking for a fun and memorable outing.

Since we had originally planned to visit the Intrepid Museum in March 2020, our first visit unfortunately had to be cancelled due to the pandemic. During our trip to New York in April 2024, we were at last able to visit the museum.
The museum features an immense array of retired aircraft. Visiting the museum also gives you the chance to walk through 'the Island', the tower on the flight deck. The Intrepid carries an immense amount of historical significance, which the exhibits give you ample opportunity to explore.
Since we are both really interested in the history of spaceflight, we were especially looking forward to visiting the Enterprise at the Space Shuttle Pavilion. Being able to see the Space Shuttle up close is an unforgettable experience. We were also very happy to have been able to visit the Apollo exhibit. Visiting the USS Growler is intense but on its own also adds a lot to a visit.
We had great experiences with the volunteers and employees working in the museum. We had a lot of fun conversations with them, and what they had in unison was their knowledge of the Intrepid and its history. Absolutely a must visit-destination.

Lots to do and see at this Military Museum.
Some great exhibits on site for both Adults & Children.
Could easily spend 4 hours at this Museum.
Easily accessible for elderly & disabled.

Really enjoyed this visit - we went in the main to see the Space Shuttle, but had not realised quite how much else there was to see and do. Didn’t leave enough time - could do with a good three/four hours to see everything.

You get so much - the Intrepid itself, the aircraft, the space shuttle, the Concorde, and a submarine. All very well done. Clean and not too crowded. Well worth the visit.

Great for those who love this sort of thing.
I was accompanying my son who is plane crazy, so he loved it.
Found it strange that in the Space Shuttle exhibition there was nothing about this, but an underwater exhibition. Why have a space shuttle if it’s not referenced.
The day we visited there were also lots of dignitaries there and the press - not sure what that was about.
So would recommend a visit if interested in planes and combat.
It wasn’t really my thing, but my son enjoyed it.

Whoever came up with the idea of making a huge warship a museum needs a raise! It was the perfect location with plenty of space for exhibits and interactive learning. We particularly enjoyed the surprise interactive presentation about when the ship was attacked in the war, with lights and smoke to make it more atmospheric - very well done.
I feel that as there was so much space some of the exhibits seemed a little bit too spaced out, particularly on the inside parts of the ship, but it was really interesting being able to walk around the top decks and see the different quarters and rooms. A very good balance of both traditional museum and hands-on experiences.

A great example of USA s Past armed forces together with .
A Space shuttle exhibition. What an exhibit for all the family to explore. Kept in great condition . You do need to be fairly mobile especially if you go in the submarine.
Great value a must do if you've never been in a sub or warship.

I didn’t do this museum when I visited ten years ago because I didn’t feel my teenagers would enjoy it but succumbed to visiting this time with my husband.
He loved it and wandered around the various decks inspecting everything on display.
I however was bored after an hour or so . We recently visited Kennedy Space Station so the exhibits there far outweighed the Space Shuttle here.
I quite enjoyed the aircraft on the flight deck although they are all rather old.
The exhibit on Vietnam was interesting with some astounding facts and the below decks information sparked by interest but the rest of museum I found was full of a lot of written information which didn’t capture my interest or imagination.

The area to visit is very beautiful and large, Recommendation to go immediately in the submarine (before there is too much queue) because it makes you account for the internal environment.

Highly recommended for lovers of maritime history and the Second World War. Various warplanes on display, as well as the ship and a submarine.

Very nice museum, full of history and very interesting for everyone.
Too bad some attractions, like getting on Concorde, have to be paid for separately.
Even some planes begin to feel the weight of the years.

Many great examples of aerial combat. Multiple levels, including air conditioned areas for those hot afternoons. Great explanation of events of the ship and the aircraft it displays.
It has an area for younger children, but mainly authentic military aircraft and history.

Brilliant museum well worth every penny. So much to see and do, in particular
seeing the Space Shuttle and Concorde up close was amazing.

We really enjoyed our Intrepid visit lots of exhibits to see , the veterans were very informative overall we had a really good time

If you have an interest in military history, especially World War II or Vietnam, this is a must-see. You get a first-rate look at Naval aircraft and life aboard an aircraft carrier. There are many exhibits and you can wander throughout many areas of the ship.
We took the 1-hour tour (ticketed) and our tour guide Connor was an absolute expert about the aircraft carrier and all the types of Naval aircraft from all eras. It was an exceptional tour.
Plan on being there at least a few hours—longer if you like to see everything and get into the details. There are a couple of places to purchase snacks or food while you’re there.

I visited the museum on a weekend and used the sightseeing pass for the tickets. It gives you a lot of attractions at a price and depends on an individual’s captivity to cover them. Arrived here but told to wait for 1 hour due to crowd and timed entry from sightseeing.
They don’t tell you this so plan your timings. Anyways you have the circle line cruise and blue water cruise next to the museum so instead of waiting here you can do the cruise and come back again.

Fantastic experience. Both the boat and the submarine were Fantastic to explore. The history of both boats was also interesting.
Well worth a trip.

What a great historical experience. So many veterans available on the carrier to share their own experiences in the military. Very cool to be able to see where everyone slept. Such tight quarters.
Also so many planes on display. We did not tour the submarine.

Very good visit to get them excited about planes and space.
too bad the concorde is not but otherwise great

I've been to the museum twice and it's well worth the visit. My reason for the 2nd visit was to see the Concorde. The price of admission to the museum is good but I would recommend buying in advance if possible. It's not a long wait in line but much easier if you don't have to do that. My second visit was strictly to see the Concorde which is a small extra cost but well worth it but you can't add this on with an online ticket purchase. For the regular museum visit, a walk on the top deck is amazing to see all the different planes on display and you get up close to them. I recommend a visit into the Shuttle experience and the extra charge for the virtual experience is well worth it.
For the Concorde, this was absolutely worth the extra trip and cost. A chance to walk outside and up the plane was amazing and the tour inside was incredible and the guide was very informative. The tour inside of the Intrepid is great and gives you a great idea of what life was like on a carrier. From the outside, you get a great perspective of how large a carrier really is. Do this tour if you have a chance.

This was a highlight of our time in New York... Wish I could have spent more time then we had. My kids are a little older and hard to amuse, but with so much to see, even they enjoyed the experience

The museum closes hours before closing. Don't plan on getting there an hour before because they close everything early at random times. The employees are rude about it. How about updating your online hours.

Very interesting to visit an old aircraft carrier and its backstage... to do if vs are ds the area.
Allow a few hours for the visit.

Very inclement weather when we visited . Made visiting flight deck area very difficult. Large number of planes limed up on Flight deck but weather forced us to the lower decks

Very nice museum made with family.
Everyone loved it despite the appalling weather (very cold with lots of rain and wind, a horror on deck).
The visit is at least 3 hours when you take the time to do everything.
Besides, there was no tail for the submarine.
The Enterprise shuttle is too new, though.
Museum to advise

This was my fiance's choice on our recent trip - I wasn't expecting too much! But he loved it and showed me the I am Legend filming location :) I loved the space shuttle and the tour through submarine. Absolute highlight though was chatting with the Veterans - so charming and eager to share their experience.
Would recommend even it it isn't 'your thing'!

We loved it and enjoyed the information provided. We ABSOLUTELY LOVED the virtual reality experience!!!!!

If you have the slightest interest in military history, you have the opportunity on this floating museum's aircraft carrier Intrepid. It's a cool experience if you've never seen an aircraft carrier, then it's here
There are lots of planes and helicopters to look at and follow the technology right up to the F14 and F16, which are the latest (newest) planes on the ship.
Everything from the space shuttle, to the many warplanes and helicopters, as well as depictions of life on board certainly made it an experience that will be remembered.
You can easily spend 3 hours on the ship - and it's worth the time for the whole family, big and small! Even my 4 year old grandson could catch the interest.
Something from the space age had also been illustrated, with the space shuttle Enterprise standing on the deck. It has not been in orbit in space, but it was impressive.
Most of the ship is open to the public and all around the ship former servicemen and volunteers were ready to talk about their experiences with the ship. You can see a lot of fun details on board, such as dormitories, the captain's quarters, the large anchor etc. Part of the ship's cabins are equipped with the equipment that has been used in the ship's active service.
On the hangar deck, which had been converted into a large experimentarium, it was possible to test various functions on the ship. There was a lot of information. In the ship's cinema on this deck, you could watch the film that was recorded of the kamikaze attack that hit the ship during World War II. Furthermore, a Lego model of Intrepid is on display in front of the cinema.
On the outside of the ship, children and childish souls could enjoy the ship's anti-aircraft guns.
With a crew of 2,600 men and long voyages, it was so-so with "privacy". You could get an experience of that on the 3rd deck. Here you could experience how those serving on the ship spent their free time, how they were accommodated in the dormitories and experience some of the large field kitchen.
The entrance ticket also gives access to the nuclear submarine USS Growler next to the ship, but here you have to have a lot of patience, because there are a lot of people.
We had bought tickets from home, so you avoid the sometimes long queues.
Definitely a recommendation from here, but remember to adjust expectations from home:)

Having just toured the USS Midway in November, I found the USS Intrepid details and access to be a bit less informative. On the flip side the museum did have more variety of other types of exhibits such as the space shuttle Enterprise, British Air Concorde SST and USS Growler submarine.
Inside the Intrepid, the forward section was most accessible to visitors and here one could see some of the berths, anchors and chains, cabins and galley/dining areas of the ship. Walking outside they had different types of anti aircraft guns used to protect the carrier and people were allowed to sit on them and take photos. On the top, the bridge was open for tours and we could view some of the planes and helicopters flown off of the carrier as well as those from Israel and Russia. The best part was the renovation of a F-16 that was in process. Planes would be renovated on site. Inside the massive hangar bay there were exhibits on the USS Intrepid missions as well as more paid activities such as the 4D theatre, simulators, etc. watch out for all the school kids visiting as they made up the majority of visitors during my visit.
Overall I wished they did not obstruct the end of the carrier with the building holding the Enterprise as one does not get to appreciate just how long the deck was to land and accommodate planes. However there wasn’t much other locations on the pier to accommodate something of that size.
The Enterprise entrance was free but we were only allowed to walk around and below. The Enterprise history was well documented as the test case before the space capable shuttles were deployed. Near the exit there was a wall listing all the shuttles and current locations or history about their accidents.
The Concorde SST was located on the ground next to the USS Intrepid but only accessible via a separate fee. I believe one could view the cockpit and first class areas only. The plane was still impressive to see up close and wonder if the public will ever get to fly transatlantic in less than 3 hours again.
The USS Growler sub was docked on the opposite side and admission also included. I waited about half an hour before I got inside as they only allowed 25 people at a time. Not since touring the USS Nautilus did I remember how claustrophobic a sub could be. the volunteers inside gave quick updates as well as letting us take our photos “driving” the sub and posing next to the rear torpedo tubes.

Incredible opportunity to see what life was like for our Navy men at sea. Seeing Enterprise up close was breathtaking. Definitely recommend.

Fascinating attraction with loads to see. Customer service was outstanding after I accidentally emailed my pre-booked tickets to the wrong email account. Staff were incredibly helpful and just sorted out tickets for us there.

Intrepid museum is Great, well worth a visit. Leave plenty of time to see everything.
Carrier, planes, submarine included in ticket, seperate ticket needed for concorde.

We took in this attraction during our recent trip to NYC. Whereas the ship was impressive in size with a glorious past, I personally found the tour to be somewhat unimpressive. Obviously you’re viewing old technology (i.e. rotary phones) which for me was somewhat underwhelming. The various aircraft on the deck of the ship was very interesting. We also decided to take in one of the 3D movie options (Journey to Space) which we both enjoyed.

Went on a GoCity admission ticket and absolutely loved it. The ship itself is huge and very impressive to walk around. The main excitement was on the flight deck with all of the iconic Cold War jets (Blackbird, F-14, F-16, Harrier, Phantom etc) plus Space Shuttle Endeavour and also Concorde on the pier

Thoroughly enjoyed the visit, being inside the aircraft carrier, seeing the flight deck and planes fantastic! The Enterprise… seeing it up close was so cool. Went inside the submarine too… don’t know how those guys worked in such a confined space.. great experience for us on the day.

It is so cool to be able to see all the fighter jets on the top of the aircraft carrier along with the ones inside the carrier. It is very cool because you are able to see everything inside and outside the aircraft carrier. They have a real British Airways Concorde plane that you could pay extra to go inside. I would recommend it especially if you are a aviation enthusiast. They have a G-Force Encounter Simulator that is an extra cost. It is in general very fun to walk around and explore. You are able to see all of the original rooms and control centers of the ship.

The museum is housed on a World War II aircraft carrier.
On the main deck, several examples of aircraft and helicopters of war use are arranged.
You visit every environment of the ship, having the opportunity to understand the difficult living conditions of a large crew.
I report as attractions the possibility to board a BA concord and the vision of a shuttle prototype (in my opinion not well valued for the conformation of the hangar that houses it).
Recommended especially for children

I almost gave this 2 stars, but I really enjoyed seeing an aircraft carrier close up, but for the price it should have more.
It’s great seeing the old aircraft carrier and the bits you can see are mostly very good, but I felt short changed a little. I don’t feel it’s worth the $34 entry fee, the queue to see the submarine was over 1 hour, the planes on the desk were in terrible condition or looked like models. Access to some of the parts was brief and no engine room.
Really think they could do better and get to see more of the ship.

I was surprised by so many exhibits. There was also a submarine and even a space shuttle to see and do. It was like the Expo.

Great exhibit! 2 hrs was enough for our family. Always impressive to see a space shuttle. Disappointed the concord wasn’t there, as that was one of the reasons we went. Nothing obvious on the website that it wasn’t there and no mention of its absence when buying tickets. Still plenty to see and do.

This is an amazing museum - everything there is just huge! The aircraft carrier itself is very impressive, and so are the planes, the space shuttle and the submarine. We enjoyed our visit very much. The exhebitions in the museum are very informative and interesting, and you could spend an entire day there. Eventhough you have to pay extra for it, you should not miss out on the 3D experience of travelling into space in the space shuttle area. It's so much fun!

Very informative. Quite amazed with the the Spaceship 'Enterprise', the Submarine and the aircraft carrier on dispay.

A lot to see. This activity is really worth it for family or couples. You can see and learn a lot. It took us 2.5 hours visiting all of it.

The Intrepid was a revelation, beyond any expectations. Have been to NY many times but had never been there.
Do not think that The Intrepid would appeal to men only or boys or even American citizens. It is a museum that appeals to everyone with an interest in ships, engineering, planes, naval history as well as Space.
The NASA floor with the Enterprise space shuttle in there is simply amazing and the VR moon landing is a must!
Also, the floor on the everyday life of the crew on The Intrepid is very interesting.
I visited it with a teenage girl and we both really liked it!
The Intrepid is HUGE, so do allow quite a few hours for the visit.

A fantastic museum to visit to see the history of USS Intrepid - lots to see and do for all ages and very friendly guides to give further information the ship and its exhibits. The added bonus of getting up close and under a British Airways concord just adds to the occasion.

Pretty awesome and absolutely unique! Even fussy tweens enjoyed it. The current Apollo exhibition was excellent and educational.

Fabulous opportunity to visit a WWII aircraft which also saw service in Vietnam. Focus on the sailors and pilots was particularly interesting for me but plenty of attention paid to the mechanics of the ship and its aircraft. Lots of history for us history buffs. Fun, interactive elements For kids and grownups alike. We spent four hours!

Great experience! If you have history enthusiasts and enjoy looking back in time, it’s a great experience. The Growler submarine and flight deck were our favorite! The Introid movie is great too!

Great family day out, something for all the family, very interactive, our boys loved it. Would recommend to all, you could easily spend half a day here.

Great experience of a US aircraft carrier. Great collection of historic planes, a space shuttle and submarine. Try the tour it’s a few dollars but worth it.

Visiting this museum of American military and maritime history at Pier 86 in New York City is a must-see. It has several exhibits, spaceships, a submarine, the plane called the "Black Bird" and the Concorde, an aircraft carrier, a space shuttle, flight simulators, and we can all enter them without any problem.

Very interesting experience and a very wide exposure. Also nice visit of the submarine.

The museum is a worthwhile attraction to visit at Pier 86. There a numerous exhibits in the hangar of the aircraft carrier related to the actual history of the vessel, space modules, helicopters, aircraft etc. A lot of interesting history. The simulators are in need of an upgrade and pretty disappointing.
The deck of the carrier has numerous planes and helicopter exhibits to view, the Lockheed A-12 is disappointing and just doesn’t look realistic, a lot of the planes have their cockpits obscured and it takes away the realism of the exhibits.
The carrier itself is looking tired and rusty and could do with a facelift, but very interesting.
There is also an excellent submarine exhibit, Growler, with guided nuclear missile launch capabilities, excellent exhibit but queuing in the heat is not comfortable.
There is also a Concorde exhibit, an extra ticket is required for a guided tour inside, still good to experience the actual size of the aircraft from outside.
There is also an underwater and space shuttle (Enterprise) exhibit too.
An interesting experience with plenty to do and see, it can take up a few hours of your day and worthwhile.

Absolutely interesting place to visit. Met Bill in the submarine. He lived on submarines since he was 18 years old (incl. the one on display). He is a wise, caring and lovely gentleman that shared his real life experiences in a thoughtful and fun way. He made our visit memorable. Watch out for experienced volunteers - they will put so much more colour and life to all the videos, artefacts, plans and stories that you see/hear. Highly recommended

Very interesting museum. We visit the entirety of a real aircraft carrier, with different planes and helicopters on the flight deck. You can also see the Concorde and go inside a submarine! The total visit takes at least 3 hours, if not more.

Do not miss this museum if you are in New York. The Intrepid itself has a remarkable history and has played a crucial role in the battles in the Pacific. The range of exhibits is amazing from the Growler submarine, to the A12, the legendary Tomcat and the shuttle Enterprise. Hats off to the veterans who are at hand to explain the various nooks and crannies of this legendary ship.

Amazing aircraft carrier, space shuttle Endeavor, lots of types of military marine and navy planes. Excellent trip with family or friends, great for kids to see and adults do.

Just talked to Gordon at 9/11 memorial. Such an amazing human being, a real life hero talking about a history that should not be forgotten!

Excellent place. Visited 20 years ago and so much more to see. Full day out of you make it. Loved seeing inside the ship and submarine. Only negative was we booked 10am time slot but got held back for 15 min while they let in non-ticket holders, what’s the point in a timeslot? Lots of water available and food if you wanted it.

Great visit! Great!!!
Impressive! To do absolutely! A very good time spent with family! Very friendly staff!

Loads to see and do, the concorde, the carrier, a space shuttle, submarine, helicopters, fighter jets!! Loads of trivia! Got into the bridge, took the helm, the staff were retired servicemen, lovely gentlemen and shared some war stories too. Lovely morning spent here . Was on my list to visit as part of my NYC trip. Didn’t purchase food. Would recommend to any aviation or navy enthusiast!! Sorry now that I didn’t purchase a T-shirt.

Well preserved ship with alot of activities onboard, enjoyed the submarine walk through and also the british aiway concorde.

Went with my 14 yo son (girls in the family shopping) as he loves aircraft
Interesting to look around the carrier and see its history and also see the planes on deck and inside. We don’t visit the submarine as the queue was long and it was hot. Nor did we see Concorde as we have visited one in the UK. We did a flight simulator which was fun
The visit was good…but doesn’t really take that much time to be honest (hour is enough)

Well done and very interesting! So neat to be able to see everything and learn great historic information. The Growler submarine was awesome to see. Unfortunately the space shuttle pavilion was closed. I would definitely recommend. God bless all our military.

Incredible, counting on the experience and attention of the ex-combatants telling us the stories and the use of the equipment. It was very legal.

Educational, for the whole family. Historical events known to all and the daily life of the crew are represented. Furthermore, what was discovered with the tests and experiments that were possible on board the submarine.

The stars are for the quality of the exhibits, especially the space shuttle. They have a nice diversity of planes and helicopters. The have several places which offer extracurricular options like VR and special tours.

Museum located at Pier 85 with the submarine 577 next to it.
In Intrepid the exhibitions are certainly not with original means.
But cute

We really enjoyed our visit. A museum on an aircraft carrier? Love it! Planes, ship and shuttle all awesome. There was quite a long queue for submarine, maybe the q could be for the sub only, and let people see the off sub exhibit in the hall and q afterwards. Gift Shop was really really expensive.

If you are interested in aircraft carriers, aeroplanes and spacecraft, you certainly won't be disappointed - the museum features a wide range of historic aircraft and fascinating exhibits on the history of the USS Intrepid itself. The Space Shuttle Pavilion is also great, with the two minor complaints that it's difficult to get a good picture of the Shuttle and you're required to stand in line to have a photo taken before going in (which you then have the option to buy on the way out - I wasn't interested).

Wonderful visit to an aircraft carrier ship that I didn't expect to be so huge, an underhand that you can fit into, different aircraft models. the space shuttle.

There is so much to do at this museum we spent the entire day and probably could have stayed at each section a bit longer.
The staff is lovely and everything moved very quickly. The only issue was the wait for the submarine was long and it was out in the hot sun.
Having a good place inside, out of the sun, and in a cooler environment was great.

I had a great time visiting the Intrepid Museum! It’s definitely a bit on the pricier side, especially since several experiences—like the 3D movies, flight simulators, Concorde, and Space Shuttle Pavilion each cost around $15 extra.
There are multiple decks to explore, and the museum is packed with fascinating history. I learned a lot about the aircraft carrier, its role in the Vietnam War, and its connection to NASA and the space race. The submarine had a long line, but it was totally worth the wait.
It’s a fantastic attraction for families, kids, or anyone who enjoys history. There’s also a cafeteria on the lower deck with plenty of seating. Just note that a hotdog runs about $6 and coffee is around $4.
Overall, it’s a great place to walk around, learn, and have fun, especially if you’re into military or space history.

If you are into military things and history, then don't miss this attraction. Take as long or as little time as you want to wander around the ship and there's lots of information about the Intrepid. Also you can visit the nuclear submarine moored next to the Intrepid at no extra cost. Well worth it.

We have 3 boys, so obviously this museum was MANDATORY for us! ;-) The children absolutely loved everything from start to finish! everything is designed to immerse you in a “top gun” atmosphere and it’s very cool! For the first time in our lives, we visited an aircraft carrier, saw a space shuttle and visited a submarine! I don't think this will happen again so it's something to do when the children are interested in all that! The criticisms I can make are: once again the endless queues: whether to enter the museum (even with a time slot), or to visit the submarine (1 hour wait...). Attractions that are paid everywhere! Only the visit is included in the entrance price. The advice I can give is to visit the submarine straight away, as soon as you arrive in the museum, before everyone rushes to visit it.

Friendly museum for aviation fans. The submarine tour is great.
Unfortunately, many explanation screens do not work and some places are closed time. Too bad about the Award

A fantastic well planned / set up museum. We spent 6 hours without getting bored. Very interested teenagers contributed to questions for the volunteers who work there.
The food on the boat was above expectations good and affordable (compared to other attractions in NY).

It is a very good and interesting museum for those who are interested in warplanes, as well as spaceships and battleships. You can climb into the cockpit of an aircraft and feel like you're part of it, or steer a ship against the background of radar blips. I had a lot of fun and spent 2 hours interestingly.

impressive, but the USS Intrepid is not the largest warship in the United States.
This ship served during the Second World War (against Japan), there is also a part devoted to aerospace. Outside it is possible to visit a submarine, and the Concorde (British Airways version extra).

My partner is an aviation nerd, usually I hate anything like this but I really enjoyed the museum too.
Fantastic range of exhibits and interactive experiences.
We had hoped to see Concord but sadly it was elsewhere.

Very interesting, I've been on the aircraft carrier before.
Very nice exhibition with planes on the deck and the space shuttle.
You can see a lot of things that are true to the original.

It exceeded my expectations. Cool place, full of incredible experiences to live, very interesting. Clean bathrooms, which has been rare there.

In conclusion: I completely advise against.I did not feel like I was on an aircraft carrier. Only in a small air museum. It's a management problem. What is the theme of this museum? Certainly not the aircraft carrier that became an empty shell with showrooms. Too bad for the volunteers who are passionate.

Recommendations
#1 - Buy a timed ticket! Shorter lines, quicker access!
#2 - Once in, head straight for the Flight level (via stairs or elevator), and get in the line for the Island! And check it out
#3 - After doing the Island, check out the Shuttle exhibit, then the Flight deck
#4 - Then do the Hangar level, including the Exploreum if you have little ones
#5 - Then do the 3rd Marine Berthing level.
#6 - Once you finish exploring the Intrepid, make sure you check out the Concord AD exhibit on the pier side. It’s unbelievable that it flew twice as fast as any current jet liner we travel with commercially now..

Very cool and well organized. You can really imagine the reality of those who served on the aircraft carrier and submarine. Interactive, fun museum that makes for great photos. The employees make the experience even better!

The visit to a real aircraft carrier, with visits to part of its corridors and the huge hangar, is an incredible experience; the inevitable veterans present are full of information, explanations and anecdotes that have left my girls enchanted, the planes on deck (some are reproductions), the majesty of the command island, are all unique situations that really leave you speechless. Also unique is the exhibition of the Shuttle Enterprise and everything that has been rebuilt around, see the Shuttle at one meter, see it in all its majesty, I never imagined it like this. The only regret was not being able to visit the submarine, unfortunately we made the visit close to the closure and after all the time spent in the ship and the Shuttle, there was no more room for the submarine, but it is our fault, not the exposure.

Optional ticket included in the New York City Pass. More suitable for children than adults. Museum sui generis, mainly for enthusiasts.
Overall good experience but I would have gladly spent

Just know if it’s summer, the heat radiates off the flight deck and it’s quite sweltering. It was nice to escape the heat in the different exhibits. I enjoyed the jet simulator while checking out the planes. Seeing all the different write ups and models if aircraft and spacecraft throughout the decades was enjoyable and interesting. Also, the Concorde was sitting beside the aircraft carrier nearby.

Interesting selection of planes to see and the space shuttle, good amount to see and do around the whole museum, a lot of information all round to read on it. Spent a good amount of time here and enjoyed it.

A lot of fun. Staff is friendly and there are a lot of things to see.
I would love if there was a more interactive alternative though. Would’ve loved to be able to sit in one of the airplane cockpits for example.

The Intrepid Museum is an immersive experience where history showcased through marvels such as the world’s first space shuttle; the world’s fastest commercial airliner; a nuclear-weapons-carrying submarine; and dozens of military aircraft, and a supersonic spy plane, all displayed in and around the historic landmark aircraft carrier, Intrepid.
There are multiple decks to explore, and the museum is packed with fascinating history. Learnt a lot about the aircraft carrier, its role in the Vietnam War, and its connection to NASA and the space race. The submarine had a long line, but it was totally worth the wait. A concord supersonic on display added more charm to the museum
It’s a fantastic attraction for families, kids, or anyone who enjoys history of defense and technologies.

A great day! Very informative and good cafeteria to refuel and keep on going. The submarine was a nice touch.

there is a long queue for entering the submarine growler, so may better link up for this first, there are several level you can tour around in the museum, many exhibit, and some interactive things you can do/play, good for the whole family, there are also staff to take professional photos for you, you can decide to buy it or not.

Great and worth a visit. Lots to see and do. Was beautiful in the sunshine on the Hudson saw the top gun plane too and some replica space craft. Little ones would love it!

It has been almost ten years since I last visited the Intrepid Museum. To celebrate my 60th anniversary of enlisting in the U.S. Navy, my family joined me in a revisit on Sunday. It was a mild October day, so we really got to enjoy touring the ship. Being an aircraft carrier veteran, this museum is a walk down memory lane. That being said, there is plenty for people of all ages to enjoy. Lots of hands on activities. There is even a small food area that serves up very tasty salads, pizza, sandwiches and hot dogs. As an added treat, admission includes access to the USS Growler, a Cold War submarine. As long as you are not claustrophobic (which I am a little) and can navigate tight hatchways, the Growler offers a unique look into life aboard a submarine. The Intrepid is an absolute “must do” for anyone visiting NYC.

Have wanted to visit Intrepid for decades, finally got the opportunity - my second Essex-class carrier (USS Hornet in Alameda being my first).
On the aircraft front, great to see an Avenger, shame no Corsair or Dauntless like on USS Midway in San Diego given Intrepid's history, but very happy to see the Douglas Skyray (one of my fave planes) and the A-12 Cygnus (like at the USS Alabama/USS Drum Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile, Alabama).
Bit concerned that, according to the ordnance markings, several of the missiles and bombs (e.g. on and by the Super Tomcat) were "live" rounds not inert... assuming/hoping that's just a paint job for authenticity!
Seeing the space shuttle atmospheric test vehicle, Enterprise, up close was a real treat.
USS Growler was a quick experience, but fascinating and an honour to see the only nuclear-armed sub on public display.
Sad that the Concorde wasn't there, as she's off getting a respray at the moment, but given I live in Bristol, England, we have our own one here that I can visit whenever I like.
I was disappointed that there were no model kits (Revell, Airfix...) available in gift shop (anything - aircraft, ships or boats!), would've got one for sure. But the t-shirts etc. were good (I got two!).

We had lunch near Times Square then headed over to the Intrepid to fill in our afternoon. We did not purchase tickets in advance, I do not know if tickets can sell out.
We thought 3 hours would be plenty of time before we needed to return to our hotel but we were wrong. We saw most exhibits but missed out on the submarine because the line was long. We should have lined up as soon as we got in but we easily filled in our time with the other exhibits.
Overall we were very happy with our visit, consider the Intrepid if you have a spare half day in NYC.

Great experience and they show a video about the ships history which is very interesting also the submarine is something to experience

The Intrepid alone would be worth a visit. The aircraft on the deck too.
But THE highlight is the space shuttle "Enterprise" in the large hall. One of the four remaining shuttles, so close enough to touch. Great!
Unfortunately, we didn't manage to see the Growler because of the crowds.

For 36$ per head, including our 14-year-oled kid, you get to see a bunch of replicas. Is that a good idea for a museum - to see things that are not the real deal? Clearly, because there were crowds of people queuing everywhere. To the extent that the most interesting thing, which is the submarine, was impossible to visit. The waiting time was around one hour - full sun, over 30 degrees C…nope. We had to give it a pass. And since this obviously is a lack of organization skills of the staff there, I can only say - what a joke.

Visiting the Intrepid aircraft carrier in NYC was an incredible experience. There is so much to see and explore – from the massive flight deck to the exhibits inside. What really stood out were the staff members and volunteers, who shared many fascinating stories and brought the history of the ship to life. We ended up spending about 5 hours in the museum, and it never felt too long – there’s plenty to keep you engaged. A must-see for anyone interested in history, aviation, or naval ships!

A submarine and an aircraft carrier anchored in the harbor... great.
Possibility to see inside both.
On the carrier, both inside and outside, many aircraft but also space shuttles and the first Space Shuttle.

The possibility of seeing the real belly of a ship, submarine and various planes, excellently explained by veterans, an absolute must-do

We chose to visit this museum because my son is passionate about airplanes, but I must say it was a lot of fun for everyone. The ship is immense, the planes on board several, there is also the concorde and especially the enterprise!! Also the submarine was a nice experience, in short an unusual thing that I recommend!

Excellent museum enjoyed all exhibits, learned a few things. Haven't been here in years and like the changes. Already plan to come back after the Concord returns I the spring. Our grandson will love this place.

Great museum on an aircraft carrier.
Possibility to access the submarine (do it first to avoid the queue and then the queue), explanations, beautiful museum and pretty exhibitions on several floors and scenarios / activities
Really nice!

The Intrepid Museum is a wonderful attraction if you like ships and planes. They have restored the Concorde piece and just shipped it back! Amazing!

Very interesting, what I liked the most was the opportunity to meet the submarine inside. There are also a variety of fighter jets to watch, in addition to the shuttle and concord.

We spent a pleasant morning on this aircraft carrier museum. Really interesting and surprising. The guys particularly enjoyed the visit and spent some time at the flight simulator.

Excellent upgrades from my last visit. Very interactive and my 14-year-old daughters were engaged for a few hours. They seem to have fixed the bugs in their admission process. Although the space shuttle and Concorde and skippable, the Growler and the Intrepid itself are well worth it. Plenty of public parking lots nearby but few places to eat in the nearby streets.

Haven't been here in 20 years, enjoyed it very much. Particularly liked the hanger deck, especially the Vietnam exhibit.

After a mix up about the time of the ticket (which TripAdvisor was helpful in straightening out for us) we had a wonderful time exploring the ship. There is so much to see on board!

A very interesting and exceptional museum for children. Very attentive staff answering all questions. Very easy entry and first class facilities

Intrepid air and sea museum is on the river on the west side highway in Manhattan. You can’t miss it as it’s enormous. Great to see.

Aircraft carrier very large and with a size that you are still stumped away from it. A crown jewel of the US Navy

Great museum that retraces the history of this aircraft carrier, those who lived inside, the "walk" in the submarine is incredible, it is gigantic but it is a stopover to do when visiting New York. The richness of all these planes, as well as the space dedicated to space are just amazing. You can eat inside, you can land.
A superb adventure

We went mainly because children (6 and 3.5 years) are in the “transportation” phase. However interesting visit for both children and adults. We have not booked admission to the concorde. Consider a bit of a queue for entry, if you don’t have your ticket already booked, and especially for the submarine. We had booked entry at 10am and headed straight to the submarine, so we only had to wait 10 min, but at the exit there was a queue of about an hour.
We stayed 2 hours. We did not visit everything, but enough for the children and wanted to do other things in the day. You can safely spend 4 hours if you want to do all the virtual reality experiences and read all the captions.
We stopped for lunch at the refreshment point at the entrance. Reduced choice but quality at a low cost.
Let’s say that I would still not choose it, there are museums more to my taste in New York. But if you like the genre it is well done and deserves.

This was a fun visit since we see it on TV every day. The museum is very restricted though and you can only see a small portion of the aircraft carrier. We've been to other aircraft carriers on display where you can check out the entire ship. It was still cool to see this one though!

I think this place is really cool. For those who like planes, helicopters, submarines, aircraft carriers, simulators. This is the place

Review of Intrepid Endeavor 2024 Trip
This cruise to the South Georgia Islands and South Shetland Islands and Antarctica rates 5 stars. The reasons are listed below.
• The Captain and Cruise Director were outstanding in finding places with good weather for the excursions. This especially occurred when rough weather set in and they quickly found a new place for an excursion.
• The Captain did an outstanding job of weather navigation and with the Operations officer even obtained special Chilian permission to sail within the limits near Cape Horn.
• The lectures on birds, mammals, history, etc. were excellent and every day.
• They were highly organized so the excursions ran smoothly.
• The Endeavor ship was late to embarkation port of Montevideo due to a hurricane. Intrepid paid for the extra hotel days and provide excursions in Montevideo every day.
• After many requests, Intrepid did provide 10 GB of free onboard WIFI – given the delay and the result of missing the stop in the Falkland Islands
• At the end of the cruise in Ushuaia, Intrepid also provide either a credit on future cruises or a 10% cash back on the paid berth amount.
• The ship Endeavor Madrid is an older ship built in the 1980s. Some things just did not work like streaming the ship’s cameras to the cabin monitors or monitor tracking of the ship’s position and progress. The HVAC system was also a challenge.
• The meals always had a wide variety of choices, even for a vegetarian.
• The booking customer services representatives were always very helpful.
Again – a full 5 stars.

Amazing experience! I can’t believe I’ve been to New York multiple times I didn’t know this museum existed. If you love history, especially World War II history and space exploration history you’ll love this Museum. There’s also an Exploratorium type experience for kids and adults to sit in module rockets, ships, control centers, and helicopters. There’s so much to learn and see!

Weather had been really wet in the morning so we needed somewhere near for the afternoon once it cleared up. This was a great choice the air attack simulation was brilliant and to see the ship which picked up the Apollo capsules was an unexpected bonus - yes we could remember it and husband was a history teacher he we really enjoyed seeing some of what he had taught back in England. The planes and helicopters up on deck were great and I have some photos to remind us of a windy Monday afternoon on the banks of the Hudson.

Being able to walk around an aircraft carrier and a submarine full of historical information was an experience, but we were disappointed both Concorde and the Space Shuttle were not open.

The coding/ scratch class was an amazing and educational experience. I am looking forward to the science fair coming up in March!

Wow Amazing time had so much to see from the submarine to the aircraft carrier and spaceship. Very well organised from start to finish, everyone helpful and informative. Allow at least three hours, highly recommend.

Very limited in details and tour was very weak. Could have done better by myself. Tour guide didn’t know a whole lot about the significance of the museum prices and the ship itself.

For those who like aviation and navy, visit to be done. Over 3.5 hours, a trip in time from this spectacular aircraft gate. The visit to the submarine eh also amazing with all the details very well preserved.

If you like standing in line, you'll love the Intrepid Museum. You get to stand in line at the box office, even if you prepurchased a timed ticket. You get to stand in line for each of the major exhibits (space shuttle, submarine, the bridge, and so on). It's a great museum with interesting exhibits but the experience is frustrating.

We enjoyed the visit. the Intrepid itself, the Concorde then the submarine... what a sight for my young boy. Glad we booked a slot early as it gets very busy quickly.

If you have an interest in aviation then this is definitely the place for you. Interesting aircraft including planes and helicopters, the space shuttle and fascinating history of the aircraft carrier are all here along with a submarine that held nuclear weapons. Shame sometimes the Concorde is not available to see.

Superb visit to do, especially the visit to the submarine, it was exceptional. We all enjoyed this outing and I recommend it.

Before I get cancelled for my title - I legit saw two women sleeping in the main museum! I think this’ll be more interesting if the guys just do it by themselves, or if you’re very interested in navy history.
The museum was insanely busy - which I know they can’t help - but they can help crowd control. We were asked for our ticket over and over when we were deep into areas of the museum where you couldn’t get unless you had one - that was slowing things down. Before going into the space exhibit they take your photo on a boring corrugated iron backdrop - why would anyone want that photo? These days everyone has a camera. And by forcing everyone who entered to have their photo taken, entry to the exhibit was majorly hindered and it caused a big line to form outside it. The way the exhibits are set up unfortunately means that you can only fit one person across, so you’re going through as fast as the slowest person since you can’t overtake them. In a few of the areas they have people talking about the exhibits which could be interesting for some but also means that when people stop to listen to them the whole crowd is stopped behind them, again causing lines to be formed. We totally missed the submarine exhibit because we ran out of time and the line wait was an hour. They should be pushing people through faster so that people don’t miss out.
The exhibits we were able to see were super interactive which I appreciated for a museum, and the info was interesting and not overbearing.

fascinating to see how they lived on the ship. Great value including submarine and space shuttle. Recommend touring sub first if you see no line.

Excellent and very interesting attraction, the aircraft carrier is perhaps organized a little badly and in a distracting manner, but the submarine alone is really worth the visit

Stopped here while our cruise was stuck in port. Large museum with great exhibits. It is slightly hard to navigate, with lots of one-way sections that have more than one access point. Lines move quickly, and they're enough space that it didn't feel crowded. I'm glad we saw it, but I don't think it's a museum i need to see more than once.

My Family and I - Wife and 2 Children (19. 23) visited during our pre Xmas Holiday ( Dec 24). Security and Ticket Staff were very helpful. Directions were very clear and accessible to the Ship. Great selection of Aircraft on deck, Greg was great. Bridge was also a great insight with an actual US Navy Veteran from USS Intrepid giving insight. Hangar Deck very informative with great displays. Space Shuttle Enterprise exhibition was an amazing experience. Didn't have enough time for Concorde or Growler this visit 😩

An aircraft carrier steeped in history with an exciting and impressive museum. The exhibition has a lot to offer and with a normal ticket you can see all exhibitions - except for the Concorde.
My highlight was the space shuttle and the carrier itself. You had to wait longer for the submarine, but otherwise the people were well spread out.
There are also various veterans who explain things to you.

Very good historical museum
Space shuttle exhibit was excellent and sitting under a Concorde during lunch break is amazing!
Submarine growler tour is exciting

This was high on our 'to do list' for New York and we weren't disappointed. If I'd read all the literature beforehand I would have bought the Concorde tour tickets too. By the time we got to Concorde we were pretty tired and couldn't be bothered to walk back to the entrance to the museum and then walk all the way back to the plane.
The climb up to the bridge and flag deck was a bit claustrophobic and hot although fans had been strategically positioned.
We had timed entrance tickets for 10.00 so we went in ahead of those booking on the day. I recommend you do this if you can.
Allow a good chunk of time - we were there 4 hours and didn't quite see everything. Although the food menu is limited it was tasty and good value. Would definitely recommend this attraction.

I am not much into war stuff but it was interesting to see where the brave guys all lived and worked! The Apollo display was great also, the Virtual Reality moon ride outstanding! And going inside the Growler Submarine was fun!

The visit is interesting but the reception of visitors needs to be reviewed: the tickets with priority access did not allow us to enter before those who had not purchased their tickets. We had to queue and the time slot indicated on our tickets was not respected at all: we were supposed to enter at 10.30 and we entered at 11.15.
Inside, no problem for the aircraft carrier but for the submarine, we once again had to queue for more than an hour!

We entered at 3pm and it closed at 5pm. We managed to get round most of it in this time, but it was a push.
Lots to see, do and read.
Even if you are not interested in boats, the navy or warships, it is still so fascinating!
All the staff are friendly and helpful too
There are extra attractions that you can pay for as well, we may have done these if we had more time

Took the kids yesterday, ages 14, 11, and 8. I’m a huge WWII nut so it was awesome for me but they also have loads of interactive experiences for the kids including a 4D space launch. What I thought was the coolest is they had vets giving tours or talks about parts of the ship, some having served on it.

So much to take in! We just happened to go the first day of Kids Week and they had a lot that all ages could enjoy and learn from. We thought it might take us a few hours to go through, but it took us the better part of 5+ hours, including visiting the submarine and having lunch in the cafe. You won't regret visiting the Intrepid.

Great to go on an aircraft carrier. Good to see the fighters , sr71 and a shuttle. The sims are a bit worn down and not worth the moneyy as i get a better siim on my mobile for free.

An average experience. The ship has a lot of history and much has been done to explain this. The aircraft collection is okay, but somewhat worn by the weather (some even looks like mockups).
I could have wished for the space shuttle to be in a better illuminated room for better experience- it is too dark in there.
And the fact that that the concord is only available at extra payment for a guided tour was a bit disappointing.
Hard off to the staff who were kind and knowledgeable - well done all of you

Being from a navy family and being on ships British and American before, it was nice to take my sons, too. They loved looking around the ship as well as the sub. Obviously, I picked a good time as no queuing. What made me laugh was we stopped for a drink below deck. I ordered a beer. I got asked I.D. which considering I'm (middle aged) was funny 😁
All in all, good morning

I was so disappointed with this experience.
A number of the aircraft look like models, especially the SR71.
The space shuttle was a prototype and not the real thing.
I had such high expectations

No problem getting in. Tickets purchased directly on site. Discovery of the submarine, certainly from another era but interesting to be able to put yourself in the place of the sailors who had to live there. The rest of the visit is also a surprise. Allow at least 2.5 hours to do the tour.

Amazing. Very clean and appealing. Many interactive exhibits for children, and very informative. Kind employees, and a lot to do.

We spent all afternoon on a Tuesday in May looking around this museum. We only bought the general entry and didn't pre book, and had no problem getting in, without queuing. Really interesting walking around the aircraft carrier, and there were some retired sailors who were really interesting to talk to. We also went round the submarine and could walk round a space shuttle. Awesome! We must have easily spent 3 hours there.

Cool, stuff you could only see in movies and news broadcasts. The submarine walkthrough a huge bonus! Fantastic stuff of what used to make America great.

Beautiful little museum, but with horrendous staff
We were there this Saturday 03 May in the morning and the photographer at the pavilion on space history after refusing to take the photo that we would not buy anyway let us go a beautiful “f... you”
Level of friendliness we will return!

What the Americans do best: preserve a ship and planes, and make a show of it. There is everything and for everyone: planes displayed on the deck, space shuttle, tour of the ship's decks, entertainment with sound and light, flight simulators, concorde on the dock, and even a submarine at the dock ( didn't have time to do it). Eyes full of stars....

Family friendly activity. Get your tickets before you go. Add on tickets available to purchase on site for a number of additional activities including a flight simulator etc. Many space based items including a Gemini space capsule, Soyuz space items, and a separate hangar for the Space Shuttle. On site free activities include a tour of the Concorde temporarily (moved Aug. 2023 for rehab) and the Growler sub. Many airplanes from the '60s and '70s to view and visit including several Migs. I was surprised as ed at how small the Migs were

We arrived at intrepid at 11am quick to get in and we were lucky enough to add Concorde tickets to our entry but would advise booking this in advance as the groups are very small. So much to see - the submarine, the aircraft carrier all the planes on the flight deck. Tour is very well done - would have preferred longer to read the submarine display before going into the actual vessel. Staff all helpful and friendly

No matter the amount of time you have in NYC, your age or interests, this incredible museum of the most influential human, technological and innovative time capsules will engage and entertain all! Staff love what they do, everything is clearly signed, the internal, museum and museum-to-city skyline views are amazing! Outstanding work museum groups, staff and community! We walked from time square and found it fast and easy there and back 🙂

The submarine queue was ridiculous and very poorly managed. All in thr sun no shade for the visitors. One in one out and no one pushing people round. Would not recommend.
Not a great family experience

We came for a tour with our large homeschool group (50+ people). Everyone enjoyed the museum but the guides tours we booked were really lacking. The tours were short and only focused on one or two aspects of the ship. For some reason we learned about space shuttles when really we wanted to hear all about the intrepid. Plenty to see on a nice day. The woman who helped me book the group reservation was extremely helpful and friendly.

What a fantastic museum to visit. It was Fleet Day on memorial weekend when we visited. So much to see and learn. The volunteer staff are mainly ex Navy and have the most fantastic story's to tell.
We enjoyed seeing the Space Shuttle and all the information regarding the space program.
Disabled access was very good.
Would highly recommend a visit.

What an amazing way to see some history . I have never been on a ship this big before and it is vast . Walking around thinking how it would have looked while in action and feeling for all those who lost their lives on the ship while in service . We didn’t do the submarine as I’m a whimp but it looked great . The staff and volunteers were all very polite and professional. Would recommend

Great museum. The ship restoration is impeccable and there is a wide array of aircraft on the flight deck. The kids liked playing on the guns, unfortunately they were all fused into place so they couldn't move them at all.
It can get pretty crowded at times and there can be long waits especially for the submarine Growler. Would have liked some more audio interaction in the exhibits. Kids don't want to read large paragraphs of information.
Food in the cafe is very expensive and fast food quality. Paid $9 for two small bottles of iced tea.
There is a Halal food cart nearby that might tempt you to go visit.....I cannot stress this enough, DO NOT. I Paid $103 for cheeseburger, two kabobs and a pretzel without salt and two cans of soda. He microwaved everything off of a loud generator next to the cart.
Overall we enjoyed the Intrepid and Growler and would definitely go back.
Get parking on the side streets NOT at the piers and book ahead for best rates with SpotHero or another like it.

This is a really well organised museum , so much to see . Knowledgeable staff easy to navigate around. Make sure you visit the Growler submarine .

Impressive museum with fighter jets and original aircraft carrier machinery that was in use until the 70s
You could also visit a concorde and a submarine
Very interesting flesh and blood a somewhat older captain of the ship in question

Awe inspiring. Very informative signage. Easy to follow the routes throughout the ship. Seeing a real space shuttle is amazing as was going into the submarine. Getting to lie in a sailor’s bed was cool as was sitting in the cockpit of a Mercury space capsule.
Downside is at the ticket window there is no veterans’ discount yet online there is. To me that’s false advertising.

We first visited the submarine Growler because there was no line there yet. Unforgettable experience because we started talking to volunteer Bil Peters who had worked on the ship as a torpedo loader in the 1960s. Fantastic man with fantastic stories. Then quietly finished the aircraft carrier from bottom to top. Downright impressive is the Space Shuttle Enterprise standing on the flight deck. Although Concorde isn't crazy either. Beautiful museum for a few hours immersing in WWII, Vietnam War and the Cold War.

We really enjoyed this museum, having 3 of my favourite aeroplanes of all time there (a Shuttle, a Concorde and a Bluebird) was like playing Top Trumps for real. The fact the submarine was called Growler made me laugh (see British slang) and walking around an old Aircraft Carrier was educational.

museum dedicated to maritime and military history, especially aviation and naval; the main part is located on the aircraft carrier intrepid which houses several exhibitions and the most interesting are most likely those located on the outer area with several aircraft both of Western and Eastern manufacture and with the pavilion that for about 10 years houses the space shuttle enterprise and that retraces stages and memorabilia of the space race; in addition to the other levels of the inrepid, the visit includes other important and quite rare stops, such as the concorde of British airways and the USS growler where you can make the visit of the interior (not really recommended for claustrophobics, but really very interesting and makes the idea of what it could have been several months underwater); consider for the entire visit about 3 hours and also take into account that for the entrance to the museum there may be a bit of waiting at the controls and that the entrance to the submarine is obviously limited to small groups of people, so even then there could be the risk of standing in line

Our tickets were included in our ‘New York pass’ but we were unable to book in advance online so has to queue in the general line . It actually moves very fast
Once we got through the doors I lost my husband for a couple of hours . Don’t get me wrong I also went around but at places like this he explores a lot more closely than I do . So for those parters our there that are wondering if there is seating , yes. Up top of intrepid on the sides just out of the sun but it was quite hot the day we were there so I ended up down is the mess area where it was cool and I linked to their wifi
make sure you take a hat and sunscreen and water coz it gets hot up there !

Very interesting for parents and kids. So much to see. Submarine was the favorite for both of ys. Recommended!

Just went over Memorial Day weekend, was Fleet Week. A bunch of ships at port, activities off the ship too. Plenty of interactive things to do for kids! The Space Shuttle was an amazing site to see! Plenty to see, very friendly staff!

It was wonderful to visit this legendary aircraft carrier, see all the exhibited airplanes and helicopters, mostly from after WWII and get a historical insight, including the first prototype of space shuttle from NASA. A bonus was the visit to/inside the submarine - Growler - which is the only submarine in the USA open to the public. Amazing to see these places, where people actually worked (and lived) for a few months at a stretch. Fascinating to see a Concorde as well. Learning history differently! Exciting and unforgettable!

Excellent museum so interesting and great range of exhibits. The Growler sub was fascinating. All well laid out and having Vets to tell stories was lovely

Very unique place. Worth a visit! Go on a nice day and take lots of pictures.
Will go back next year.

This was a great full day out, worth the money. Staff were all very helpful and polite.
Brilliant.
Staff on hand to offer information.
This is a must for the boys, although I enjoyed it just as much.

Don't think you will be bored stiff, if you go along with someone who is the enthusiast, not you. Knowing almost nothing about any of the ships, helicopters, submarine, space shuttle, etc (it's a long list of what is on display) will not spoil a good day out.
There's a lot of info about everything, so it suits fans and noobs alike, and there's a few hands-on things to try or go into as well.
We also paid extra to go onto the Concorde, which was great fun- a chance not available just anywhere. :) But this isn't necessary to have a good time.
I was the one who wasn't an enthusiast, but it was a great visit for us both, and we spent quite a few hours.
PS, if you are there at the right times, you can ride the aircraft elevator up and down. It's only 2 minutes of time, but was still a thrill to me to be able to say we've been on one!

Who has never seen the images of this aircraft carrier in a news report, TV series or movie. Pleasant visit anchored in the end of World War II with aircraft exhibition of this era and the Cold War. An incredible photograph on the buildings of Big Apple...

An aircraft carrier that from an instrument of war becomes an instrument of dissemination especially for young people. Show the living conditions, the cramped spaces. Useful. Very

It was a very unusual attraction. Looking round a big old aircraft carrier. Lots of smaller fighter aircraft on the deck, also enjoyed the tour around the Concorde which was $20 extra. This was included in the New York pass, otherwise I may not have visited, saying that I actually enjoyed it.

I did not receive any ticket for the guided tour even though I had paid, no number to call. Terrible

Truly amazing, I would go again. Just check your tickets as they do not include the submarine and the Concorde visit and especially the first has really long lines to get into. Cafeteria was rather expensive for the offer. Everything else was superb

An amazing experience, where you can see all the incredible war planes, Concorded etc. I really love being inside of a submarine also I love the Enterprise although we'll be cooler to be inside not just from outside views.

Beautiful location of this museum on an aircraft carrier and a submarine. Beautiful as exposed. Too bad the simulator zone was closed for a private event. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Average.

Watch out for the afternoon time! We booked the visit at 16:00: the time to pass the controls, to access the upper deck and see the space shuttle that here the staff invites us to leave because the structure closes at 17:00 !!! With 45 minutes of useful time you can not visit a museum especially with two children.

Very interesting visit, pity that the common parts (engines, crew quarters) are not as highlighted as the “noble” parts (command).
Unmissable: the shuttle Enterprise - a real slap in the face
A tip: come to the opening and start with the submarine, otherwise the tail is long...

The place is incredible! As I had never seen an aircraft carrier, I was impressed by the size and arrangement to fit so many aircraft. I come from a city with an air base, so fighter jets have always been around in my life. The only thing is: if you are sightseeing, be prepared to call sightseeing to get entry with your pass...it happened to me and I saw other people with the same problem, where theoretically there were no tickets available for the day. In connection with the pass, the girl asked to speak to someone at the museum, who then allowed us entry.

My husband was a commercial pilot so he was in glory touring the Intrepid. So much to see and very knowledgeable staff on board to answer questions. We loved everything about it. We toured the Growler, saw the Enterprise as well as the Intrepid all well worth the time and money.

Highly recommend opting for a guided tour. Our guide Joseph was excellent and extremely knowledgeable. He and his boss, David, were very welcoming. We learnt more than just doing a self guided tour. Worth the extra.

An aircraft carrier, a space shuttle, planes, period films and documents, a very American way of presenting their history. It is a museum to the glory of the American Navy.
Please note, not everything is included in the entry ticket, supplements to be expected to participate in certain experiences.

Amazing, kind staff, and planes and history was great!!!! The VR was amusing and so was the flight simulator!

I have to admit that we didn't explore the ship. We went for the Space Shuttle, as visiting all of them is on my daughter's bucket list. It's a good intro to the shuttles, but honestly, I preferred the exhibit at the Udvar-Hazy Smithsonian museum at Dulles International Airport in DC. Typical museum gift shop.

Intrepid is an excellent museum, with lots of fascinating features and exhibits and is much better value for money than some of the other nearby visitor attractions.
The Intrepid is steeped in so much history and shows how naval aviation and astronautical endevour has advanced through human ingenuity and determination.
As well as the vessel, there are many aircraft, the space shuttle and lunar programme exhibits, and a submarine, although we didn't do the latter.
The museum is suitable for all ages and whilst there are lifts, the historical and maritime nature of the museum does mean that there are a small number of areas that may be difficult for people with mobility issues to reach.
We were there a couple of hours, and TBH could have spent more time there as there were still lots of things to see.
Would definitely recommend it to others.

I was here with my 18 year old son. And we enjoyed greatly. We loved the history on display. It's was nice and cool inside. Much to see for 2 to 3 hours

Not really surprising. The ship is very old and too modified for tours. Most of the planes above look like uninteresting models, even though the city has a thousand curiosities to discover!

Explanations would be lacking about the workings of the things that are there, there are some posters but you are left with taste of little

We arrived around noon on a hot July day knowing a little about what to expect but didn't realise The Enterprise was there too. As it was the heat beat us and we were not able to do as much as I wanted. There is a long queue for the submarine so day so probably best to get to that early if that's what you interested in.
For me the space shuttle was the thing so we headed there first and weren't disappointed. The hangar is air-conditioned so that helps to make it a relaxed part of the museum. The exhibits are informative and includes a 4D space experience which is ok (not great). The main downside, which I can understand, was that we weren't able to touch her but it would have been nice to be able to inside.
We queued back in the heat to see the navigation and flag bridges (the island). As the command centre there was obviously a lot of interesting places to look at and explore. The route is one was and while some of it was air-conditioned most of it was an oven. Makes you appreciate what it must have been like to serve in the Pacific. There were several points where ex sailors from the intrepid were on hand to explain the room and answer questions.
The flight deck is populated with several classic and some less well known aircraft including the SR71 and Harrier amongst many others. They are interesting with plenty of facts available but again you can't see inside so it's more of a gallery.
Somehow we missed the gallery deck and ended up on the hangar deck. There is so much to do here we were overwhelmed and managed to miss half of it including the pilot escalator which friends asked us about AFTER we'd got back home. I didn't feel see missed out on the day though as there is so much to take in.
The third deck includes the canteen and where the general quarters were. The latter was very interesting as it showed his crowded most of the crew were. The food on offer was basic school canteen food so perfect for being on board a ship. If recommend it to eating outside on the quay side like we did as that was very poor. So either eat but before you get there or take a pack lunch. The Sunac Natural Deli nearby is worth a stop before, after our to get your packed lunch.
The Concorde was being decommissioned ready to go to another home, which was a great shame. So we only got to see the outside.
Our ticket was via the Sight Seeing pass so it included all the options. But I believe it you are paying then some things like the submarine are extra.

We visited with our GoCity pass.
We enjoyed most of it.
We are in no way plane or military enthusiasts but still found it interesting.

Everything is great, my mom love it very much. I hope to have chance to back here in 2024. This palace is suitable for family to relax in vacation, I think you should try it.

Booked through TripAdvisor. No problems with tickets. Exhibition was okay. But nothing special.
I couldn't really recommend it.

This is a wonderful museum. The exhibits are engaging and we learned so much. It was also really lovely and informative to chat with the military veteran volunteers who engaged with us during our visit.

Very interesting for parents and teenager kids - Recommended!
Making a huge warship into a museum is an excellent idea. There was plenty of space between the exhibits and a bit of interactive learning.
We particularly enjoyed the submarine tour - well done.
It was fairly painless getting in with pre-booked tickets.

Spent Memorial Day here! They had a kids carnival, all the armed forces recruiting with activities, ghostbusters making slime. The exhibits are incredible! My hubs was in heaven!

I have not been to the Intrepid in nearly twenty years. Wow how has it changed, the entire experience was an exciting one for me and my guest who was visiting from out of town. We were amazed by all the things the cool things that were on the ship, the spaces shuttle, nuclear submarine as well as the inspiring stories that were told and its long history and association with major events in history. This is the most interesting museum in New York in my opinion, a must see!

Really great museum showcasing the USS Intrepid, there is also an array of aircraft for viewing, a submarine (which sadly we didn’t have time to do), the Enterprise space shuttle, among others. Unfortunately you do have to pay extra for some of the attractions but overall there’s much information and lots to see. There are also some cool models built entirely from Lego which I’m a huge fan of!

Very interesting as a visit. It’s not every day that we get the chance to see that. It's worth the trip and close to Time Square on foot

We had never been on an aircraft carrier and just the sheer size of it is overwhelming. And yet when you go inside, you notice how cramped it is. You can buy “extras” such as for the 3D film or simulation, but all at a hefty price. We had to queue for half an hour for the submarine. And the Concorde is closed and we were disappointed about that.

Visiting the Intrepid Museum isn’t just for those addicted to military history & aviation geeks.
Intrepid Museum has something to entertain & dare I say help educate the whole family in definitely something they didn’t know before the visit.
Getting there early is a must for anyone wanting to explore the USS Growler submarine, be warned this is popular and a little wait can be expected if you don’t get to this quickly. It’s also a tight space to be explored so if you don’t get on in small spaces think twice, but they do let you experience the fit of a few of the hatches before you head on the climb through the submarine.
The flight deck has aircraft exhibits spaced out well with plenty of room to walk and snap your photographs. All be it the helicopters could be better placed/spaced out for the limited number there.
The USS Enterprise is well positioned within its own housing with a great backstory around her, this is bound to blow any buddy astronauts mind. A great exhibit.
If you time it right the aircraft lift still works and you can catch a lift between the flight deck and hangar deck, this is really worth trying to time if right for.
When walking around the hangar deck, you can still smell the history of Intrepid, and her working life which is really great.
There’s also interactive stations in this area for younger family members (and the big kids).
If visiting New York & whether you’re fully into aviation & military history or not, Intrepid Museum is a must on your visit list, and is in a great location to explore New York further along the Hudson River.

Opportunities to visit an aircraft carrier are scarce, but in NY there is such a possibility in the museum created on this former II WW aircraft carrier, the Intrepid. The visit leaves no one indifferent. Seeing this boat from the inside is amazing, but the whole museum around it is great. The collection of planes and helicopters on your deck is impressive. Not to mention the space museum, where you can see everything from a space shuttle to the costumes of astronauts who went to the moon. The experience can be topped off by visiting the Concorde plane right next to you. In short, a different, unique and exceptional museum that you cannot miss!

Lots to see and access. Good to experience inside the ship. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Shop had good souvenirs.

It’s 4-in-one experience: aircraft carrier, space shuttle and submarine in one ticket, also you can buy 20-min excursion inside the Concord for an extra fee ($9). There are 2 options of 3D-movie inside the carrier (about carrier and spacecraft), $10 each. There are many aircrafts represented on the flight deck. By the way, you can ask volunteers any questions about this carrier, they know a lot of interesting information because they were in charge of it for some period of time.
Visiting a submarine takes approximately 40min. It includes small museum with information about the history of submarines in 19 century and the submarine itself.
To see all of the attractions will take ~4 hours with a small lunch break. There are a cafe with some fast food and even salads and ribs and vending machines as well.

With the last breath of GoCity, I went to fulfill my dream of seeing the Enterprise at the museum/airport INTREPID. I didn't even visit the submarine. Only the aircraft carrier. And I never thought I'd be in front of the legendary space shuttle Enterprise! Immense, imposing, elegant. Worth every trip to NYC.

This museum focuses on the history of naval aviation as well as the specific history of Intrepid herself. The exhibits are lovingly maintained and there is ongoing work to open up other areas of the ship to the public. There is a video shown on the hangar deck recounting the kamikaze hits that the ship incurred that should not be missed. All in all, it was a great experience.

A monument full of history , an exciting and rewarding visit exploring the life of this avio door’ and sailors . An impressive collection of aircraft including a concorde . Negative nothing is done and translated for foreign tourists. In short l intrepid deserves a visit

Great place to visit! We actually spent more time here than we thought we would. Get in line to see the submarine first as that will take the longest. The aircraft carrier, flight deck, and space shuttle you can tour at your leisure. The one recommendation I would make to the museum is to invest in headsets for the tour guides so they do not have to repeatedly and rather rudely announce that they are giving a private tour. The retired servicemen who were there to answer questions were extremely kind and helpful. There are spectacular photo opportunities from the flight deck.

I didn’t use this ticket and asked for a refund and I wasn’t given one even though it made no sense why I couldn’t get one. This wasn’t a timed tour this was a general admission ticket, my absence made no different.

The whole visit was wonderful and family friendly, starting from hangar deck, to the amazing flight deck, full of combat air plane like F14 and F16, to the space shuttle enterprise. in front of you Manhattan skyline, in my opinion a must in NYC

An excellent museum
To do !
Space shuttle, submarine, ships and airplane collection
To add :
3d / 4d cinema and simulator… to pay extra on site but very good
Please note the tickets on this site do not have the correct QR codes, you must change them at the entrance

I'd wanted to visit the Intrepid since I was a kid growing up in New Jersey. First, the views of Manhattan and NJ from the flight deck were outstanding. The hanger deck was well laid out with plenty to see. There was a short film, that airs about ever hour or so that illustrates the proud history of service of the carrier, that was well produced and displayed on the open deck. The virtual experiences were fun, but honestly skippable. currently there is a nice Apollo 11 exhibit talking bout the program and the culture in the US in the 60's when the space race was ongoing. This exhibit is laid out below the amazing Enterprise Space Shuttle. As a child of the 80's being inches away from the Shuttle was awe inspiring. We skipped the line to go into the ships island and view the bridge, and flight control etc. We had a nice time on an over cast slightly breezy day. There is a 1:40 scale model of the Intrepid set up for WWII made of lego that is really neat to see, with a ton of detail.

It was amazing to be able to go on the Intrepid, you do not appreciate the size inside until you are there, it is huge. Great display of aircraft on deck and to see the space shuttle Enterprise inside was great. Lots to do and see, give yourself plenty of time.

Entrance $36 and then there are supplements to pay for other activities (≈$10). Endless queue (30 minutes), under the August sun (they could have put up a tent)...
Besides, there are lots of restricted access and so it’s a bit annoying.
Unless you're a plane or boat fan, don't go.

Very interesting and plenty to see. Very well planned out and organized. Pleasant and helpful staff. Seeing the submarine was fascinating!

Super cool aircraft carrier directly on the Hudson river, many rooms are fully walkable and lovingly designed... Great models on the airfield ...

Although we are Tri-State residents, our family had never been to the Intrepid despite hearing much about it. We were a party of ten, with most of the members teenagers. Overall, We were disappointed as we expected to tour an aircraft carrier but found an old aircraft carrier turned into an aviation museum. Many exciting parts of an aircraft carrier like the hangers and flight deck no longer exist but serve as a hall for museum exhibits. The flight deck and its catapults are no longer there - replaced by a wooden floor that exhibits a random collection of aircraft, many of which never landed on an aircraft carrier, including a building showcasing the Space Shuttle prototype. If you like museums, this will be a nice one, but we've been to many aviation museums and were looking for something unique. We splurged and bought tickets to their pricey "3D Intrepid" film ($10/person) and it wasn't worth it. The film was quite boring. The only part we really enjoyed was teh Growler submarine exhibit which features the submarine in its original condition. However, the wait times to enter the submarine were long. Overall, I don't think it was worth the money.

I recommend with families and children. It’s very nice and interesting.
If you come in Nee York you need to come to see the intrepid.

Extremely interesting to see where technology started. We found it very fascinating and enjoyed the activity. Strongly recommended.

an amazing day. depending on how much you read you may need more than 1 day. so much to see and do. very well set up with a lot of unique content. not much to eat so bring your own food.

Great morning out, definitely with the money, staff very helpful and knowledgeable.
Submarine was a bonus,
If your thinking of doing Concorde it’s a small extra,

A must.
Spent a great late morning around this floating historical piece of incredible engineering.
Highlight for me was seeing the space shuttle along with the forerunner of the blackbird.
It’s all good though.
Never been onboard an aircraft carrier before and it was memorable.
Sadly missed seeing the growler sub - but at our choice as there was an understandable bit of a queue to get on and New York was in a heat wave and I’d have expired in the heat.
Really really enjoyed the day.

We had a really good visit to this site, lots of interesting things to see as it’s a mixture of aircraft carrier, aircraft, space travel and a submarine. Well worth the money for a 2-3 hour visit.

Visiting the Intrepid museum by myself while my wife and daughter did some shopping was a fantastic idea as it gave me more time to visit a place that was of interest to me but not really their thing. Anyway, the public spaces on board were ideal and allowed me to consider exactly what life on board at the time would have been like. The video show, which is every hour, was great to view and made me realise just how tenacious the ship and crew really were, all so heroic.
Also included was viewing the Space Shuttle Enterprise which I saw on television years ago, never thinking I would ever see it for real.
Overall I would say to anyone who has an interest in warships and who is visiting NYC, go and visit as you won’t be disappointed.

flight deck and inside the island was great but over an hour queue in 30 degree heat, no shade, with 3 kids to get into the submarine was disappointing.

The entire experience was awesome we enjoyed the history and beautiful awesome military apparatus, also the experience below deck

This is not a "grandiose museum", "very well done" and "awesome" unfortunately neither. For about $40 you can visit this retired aircraft carrier from the Vietnam War and see old aircraft and the former space shuttle "Enterprise" from the outside. Not even the space shuttle from the inside. No visit to the disused "Concorde". It's a shame, but I've never been on a carrier's flight deck and had a lot of interest, but it hasn't been satisfied. If you're not a militaria fan, you don't necessarily have to come here.

It's a very nice place to do.
Lots to see indoors and outdoors.
Possibility of doing simulators but you will have to pay extra. Just like the Concorde visit.
You can wander around at your own pace, there's no feeling of a crowd because it's very big.
It's fun and informative.

I've never been into planes but they're really cool to look at! My son and I visited so we could check out the Space Shuttle and it's worth it for that alone. Everything else is icing on the cake! We had a great experience and the staff was super friendly and helpful!

I would definitely go back. Unique submarine experience. And the rest of the museum is absolutely worth it, and for those who have children or teenagers with them it is certainly recommended to visit it. Marvelous!

I would have expected more, unfortunately the lower deck where the planes normally stand has been converted into a museum, which makes the whole thing lose a bit of its charm. The NASA Enterprise exhibition is impressive

Go early! Had a great time All of the guides very helpful and able to answer questions. It was our second time to see this great ship
Loved the trip around USS Intrepid which exceeded our expectations. The ship and its incredible story just keep us enthralled, so much achieved and thank goodness the patrons fought to keep her from being scrapped. The story covers her WW11 involvement taking Kamikaze hits to Vietnam and Space capsule recovery. Well worth the trip and taking advantage of the NYC pass that includes entry
