My Favorite!

By Heidi S |

Jowler Creek Winery is my favorite local winery. They have great weekend entertainment and lovely grounds. If it is too cold to be outside, the indoors is cozy as well. One complaint is lack of enough registers. Every time I have gone, I have had to wait quite some time to get a drink.
This past weekend, my friend and I made the decision to by a T-shirt that was hung on the wall and marked $18.99. When we got to the register it rung up as $24.99. I was a bit grumpy about the fact that I still didn’t get it for the price advertised but rather given a 15% discount.

Great winery

By betdoug72mn |

Hannah greeted us and was a gem! She was so knowledgeable with the wines and everything happening around the vineyard. We did a tasting for 5.00 and you got a free glass. We enjoyed most of the wine. The place was beautiful and would be fun to return when they had their outdoor entertainment. They had a few neat gift items for sale and it was really decorated cute inside. We loved it! Thanks Hannah for the ladies (and 1 man) from Minnesota.

Day with friends

By Tiffany C |

My friend and I went in for a casual tasting and glass of wine and we were presented with so much more! Denise was awesome and we signed up to be club members! The atmosphere and all of the wines were amazing and I can’t wait to go back!

Cool concept. Mediocre wine.

By Gregory D |

This Winery as an operation is awesome. Everything is done very green. Their vineyard is protected from insects by chickens, the chickens are protected by dogs and the field is maintained by sheep. The wine itself is made in small batches in the barn where tastings are done. The finished product is not all that impressive, unfortunately. Fairly average wine, with most of their lineup being too sweet, in my personal opinion. The most positive spin I can put on it, is that it is a great wine for people who don't typically like wine.

Surprise Gem

By BunnynKC |

This sustainable winery and vineyard is located in a beautiful area. The tasting room is modern rustic, manned by friendly, knowledgeable staff. The wines are absolutely worth the drive for a relaxing tasteful experience.

ok Experience

By jmjbrtw |

We stopped there one afternoon, there was only one other couple there. There was a girl there who was friendly giving tasting, but didn't know much about wine or vineyard. The tasting size was very small compared to most tasting we have been ever. Wines were good and we bought a bottle. We wish there was a little more information. We would have liked a little vineyard tour, even though grapes were already picked for the year. It is there slow season we suspected.

Great start to a fun weekend with friends!

By M G |

Headed to KC for the weekend with friends and decided to make a stop for a little wine tasting and to enjoy the beautiful afternoon. Denice did a fabulous job helping us with our wine tastings, made great suggestions for the guys for beers. Even helped us to purchase our favorites and some cool wine glasses to have at the hotel with our selections later tonight. Very enjoyable afternoon!

GREAT local winery. Friendly atmosphere. Nice courtyard

By Jennifer B |

I have lived in the area for several years and didn't realize what I had been missing. My husband and I first enjoyed a wine tasting , ordered a bottle , and then we were off to the courtyard to enjoy our wine and one of their picnic baskets. The warm bread and herb butter was excellent. Also included choices for salami and different types of cheeses. Lots of food for the money and went well with the wine. Live Music by Kellon Potter was enjoyable as well. All around great day!

Backroad surprise

By Santafej |

Delightful from the effusive shaggy dog welcome, to the well tended grounds, to the informative sample-giver and the good wines. We did not expect this from our dirt road detour.

Weekend Trip

By Ben B |

A small gem just off of I29. We stopped for a tasting. Denise was excellent for our tasting for the large group that was there. It’s a nice place to hang out and drink wine. The wines are excellent as well.

Great Girl's Night!!!

By Heather S |

Went with a bunch a girlfriends to their Women Who Wine Night. We got to do a wine sample and they paired the wines with Halloween candy, which was a nice treat. We also did a craft. We made wine bottle pumpkins, which was a lot of fine. The cost was $15 for the even, which I thought was very reasonable. Kellan was facilitating the event. He was very friendly and handled the room full of women very well. My only complaint is that the place is a little difficult to find at night if you have never been there. We drove right past it because we couldn't see the signs. I look forward to coming back for a tour and more events.

Great tasing!

By katykat33 |

My mother, sisters and I went here on a Sunday for their wine tasing, we loved it! We chose to taste 8 wines for $7 and not only were the wines great but we got to keep our glass too! There were options to buy cheeses to snack on and their gift shop had some great items also. Over all it was a great little trip.

Worth finding

By Jerry V |

Winery and wines was well worth finding even on a hot day it was relaxing sitting, sampling, and slushy drinks.

Fantastic outing!

By AnitaGale B |

I came here to celebrate my birthday for a wine tasting. The cost of the wine tasting is $5 to taste 8 different wines. We were seated outside near the gardens, which was absolutely gorgeous. Everyone was so friendly and the service was excellent! The cat even came and greeted our group. The wine was delicious and the moscato was the group favourite! Will definitely come again next time I'm in Kansas City!

Sunday Sangria was so good we bought a DIY kit for Christmas

By April |

Sunday Sangria was so good we bought a DIY kit for Christmas! This place was great! We had a great time relaxing in cute tasting room. Carrie and Amy were great they told us that they have a wine club and they will even ship the wine!

Beautiful winery with Amazing Wines

By Tina O |

We came here for their Sips and Eclipse Event. It was well organized and the employees went above and beyond to help us find the perfect wine for us! Everybody was nice and we made some new friends while we were there! Despite the off and on rain, everybody had a great time!

A green winery!

By Richard W |

This was our first trip to Jowler Creek Winery, We arrived just 30 minutes to closing on a Sunday and Annette welcomed us in with a smile and served up samples of various wines while sitting in a very well decorated tasting room. They also have charging stations in the parking lot for your battery powered vehicle. We purchased several bottles of wine and we were given a nice carry bag for the journey home.

Great wine!

By glitterqueen1975 |

While we were visiting family in St. Joe, we ventured out to several wineries. This place was very nice. Wine tasting was very good. Staff was friendly and informative. They had a lot of nice novelty items for sale as well. We purchased a few bottles to take back home to MA. Muskrato de Missouri was delicious!!!

Fun Day Out

By Brenda |

This place has music and delicious wine. My favorite is Muscrato. They have neat bags to carry your purchased wine in. The glasses you taste test with are yours to keep and they are stemless so pretty unique. It is in a quiet country location set up for relaxing.

Really neat winery

By Bethany F |

Went there for a bachelorette party and sampled a few wines before deciding on a deep red. Very neat set up but it was very busy and standing room only by the time we left. Fun place to try new wines. I would recommend getting the tour because you get more history about it and what the family has done.

Love this winery!

By sreynolds41 |

Absolutely love this place and what they have done to keep us safe during the pandemic! Tons of outside seating, live music super fun events , and GREAT WINE!!! Our new favorite vineyard and GO CHIEFS!!! Super fun tailgate just last week compete with KC Wolf!!

My first wine tasting experience

By Tonia H |

My husband & I came out to Jowler Creek for the first time for the chocolate & wine pairing. Since I had never been to a wine tasting I had no idea what to expect. I felt welcome instantly from the moment we walked in the door. All the staff was very friendly. There was no rush to get us out the door. No pushy sales. It was a very relaxing & an enjoyable time. Perfect for that Valentine's weekend. I am not a wine drinker. The very few I've ever tried have been horrible to me. We were able to sample 8 wines. Only one I couldn't finish. But I'm very picky. Three of the wines I liked, but the Muskrato de Missouri I loved. We bought a bottle & just sat there enjoying it, taking in the warm atmosphere inside. It was too cold to take a bottle outside to sit around to enjoy. On our way out the door I grabbed the listing on where you can purchase their wines as they are a hour away from my home. I was able to find some close to home which I was happy with. This coming from a non wine drinker that said I'd never drink wine. They changed that. Great place!

Good wine, fun space, good service, love the responsibility

By danders1999 |

Enjoyed a wine tasting and a bottle of sweet(ish) red outside at one of the tables. The merchandise seemed reasonably priced. What struck me about the place was the responsible nature (no pun) of their development, vineyard, and buildings. Loved the feel that brought to the place and helped me to smile (ok, in addition to the wine!).

Wonderful time and BEAUTIFUL setting

By Josey4u |

My wife and I stopped here on a Sunday. We had a GREAT time! Denise and Pam were great. Denise told us all about how the farm uses chickens, sheep and even bats to help keep the vineyard sustainable. You've got to visit to hear how though.

We liked the wines. Both the red and whites were good. The Moscato and Traminette were great, but you have to try the rosé also.

I'm a port drinker. The wife is not, but she liked theirs. I only say this because she has had Herman, Missouri and other local ports and this was the ONLY one she would drink.

Excellent Winery

By taylorf007 |

Jowler Creek is a wonderful, sustainable winery. The rustic look gives a homey and welcoming feel to everything. Teresa was outstanding and did a perfect job explaining the different wines and pairings. Jowler Creek is absolutely worth your time to visit and the you'll want to take some wines home with you!

Friendly Winery!

By Joan D |

This winery is just on the other side of I-29 from Weston. Its a beautiful location out in the country where its quiet and welcoming. Denise is a wonderful hostess and easy to talk to She knows the wines and always has a food and cheese pairing idea for any of the wines. I met her when she was at the Weston Winery and sooo happy when I came across her at this winery! She makes the wine tasting very pleasant and not snooty in the least. Just a great place to hang out and relax while sipping and tasting. Love this place and their wine!!!

Girls weekend

By HuskerFAN05 |

We did a girls weekend in KC/Weston and checked out Jowler Creek. A little off the beaten path. Beautiful winery with seating inside and outside. We sat inside and did a tasting. They brought each tasting to us which was nice. They have tastings 5/$5. The sweet wines were good. They had a band setting up when we left.

Awesome

By haffnerx6 |

Great winery and atmosphere. Denise was awesome. Jowler creek winery Creek Club is a great deal you must check them out.

Good wine, more of the sweet variety. Cheap and gracious tasting

By ben r |

We stopped by on a Saturday for a tasting around noon, it was not busy so we got right in. Cheap to taste all of the wines and we kept the glasses. The people working were great and knew the product. It is a smaller venue but large enough. We ordered some bread and for the two of us it was way to much. We ended up buying a few bottles. They have the best Moscato we have had locally it is called Mascorato I believe, and also enjoyed their concord wine. There is a friendly dog that roams the place, take my word from experience feed him once he will be at your side all day. It was a good time we will be back. Tours are every other week, you better call ahead to get it reserved, and they do have lunch specials.

Green Winery

By gsmama2015 |

A "green" Missouri winery. Has information about how they are green. Examples include recycled wine bottles for lighting, chickens to eat insects, sheep to "mow" the grass. Wines mostly semi-sweet to sweet. Friendly staff.

A must stop!

By Jaylean E |

My husband and I love to go wine tasting. This was our first time at Jowler Creek. The environment was beautiful and the wine was amazing! They even had a beer on tap for hubby, I'm not a beer person. Denise was our host and she was amazing! You get to keep your glass.

Repeat Visit

By Traveller3131 |

We had been there before, and enjoyed our experience. On a road trip with friends, and wanted to introduce them to Jowler Creek. Another very pleasant experience this time, enjoying their well-crafted wines. Our host, Denise, was very nice and very knowledgeable.

Local winery that is a lot of fun to visit.

By Khagan G |

More than just a winery with wine tastings.

The owners have taken tastings to a new level. While one can sample some pretty good wines from Missouri, Jowler Creek has their Creek Club that includes their customers in the behind the scenes makings of wines; while making it an event, it is also fun for all involved.

While the location is somewhat remote, the seating around fire pit encourages guests to buy a bottle to drink while enjoying a bit of nature.

The staff is top knotch. I found all icame in contact with to be friendly, knowledgeable, and patient with those that have never been to a wine tasting.

We love Jowler Creek

By Katherine B |

I have been to different wineries around the Kansas City area, and this one is definitely my favorite! We always feel welcomed each time we go out to the winery and certainly enjoy all of their fun activities. After going to the winery a few times, my boyfriend signed us up to become members of the winery and we are glad he did! Denise is always accommodating when we mention that we don't have our membership cards and is a friendly face each time we visit. The fact that they are a green winery and is great for the animal lover like me! Although there are wineries much closer for us, we would certainly choose Jowler Creek first!

“Curbside” pick-up - they are still open

By Cynthia B |

Just stopped at Jowler to pick up our monthly wine (“curbside” to go right now with COVID-19 and all). We sure do miss hanging out here. It was so good to hear Denise answer the phone. We missed her. She’s such a treasure! Can’t wait to come enjoy the patio and music. Everyone, please support Jowler Creek and get some “curbside” wine to go. Poor Vidal misses his wine guests.

Fun winery!!

By Brian and Dawn H |

Hannah greeted us and helped with our tasting! She was so friendly and knowledgeable about the wines and winery! We enjoyed our tasting and purchased some! The winery is such a cool place. It was a very scenic vineyard. They have entertainment we weren't there for that though. I'd stop again!

Nice place

By Ronald O |

Howler is easy to find and just off I-29. Wine is good. We liked the whites best. The hostess wa very friendly. We really enjoyed our visit.

Fun Tour and Good Wine

By IBrown |

Jowler Creek is about half hour north of downtown KC. We purchased a Groupon for 4 and took friends with us to tour this lovely little winery. During our hour-long tour we learned this winery uses green technologies, such as solar power to make their wine, sheep to control weeds (mowing sheep) and chickens to reduce insects in this 6-acre vineyard. The winery makes a variety wines in various styles ranging from dry to sweet. Their on-site tasting room is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for free wine tastings. You can also find our wines at more than 75 local stores in Kansas and Missouri. Booking a tour however, requires a reservation and does have a fee attached. I would definitely recommend this tour as a fun outing with your better half or have friends join you.

Beautiful Winery!

By Barry M |

What a gem hidden in Northwest Missouri! Not only are the wines great but they are grown and created using sustainable practices. The self-guided tour of the property was an excellent way to learn of all they do to create their vintages. Our wine tasting guide Denise was great at sharing the Jowler Creek story. The “wine dog” Vidal will be your best friend during your entire visit! We certainly will be back!

Cozy and friendly atmosphere

By Francesca M |

This little winery is hidden in the beautiful Missouri hills. As soon as we entered the store, we were greeted by the friendly owner who took excellent care of us. The wine is very good there are enough varieties for all types of taste buds! Must try to believe!

Can't Miss Winery

By Allie_Zoe |

We attended the Lantern Lit Hayride with Progressive Tasting and I cannot tell you how impressed I was with this winery. The event was relaxed and regulated to a manageable number of people. The passion that goes into the farming and winemaking was plain to see. For animal-lovers, the grounds are a dream with a resident dog and cat to greet the customers plus the mowing sheep, chickens, etc. And the wine! I really enjoy wine tasting and cannot remember the last time I really appreciated so many wines from one winery. Visit for the experience of the farm, but be prepared to take a case or two with you when you leave!!! I've already pulled up the order form to purchase more online.

Beautiful, friendly, delicious

By nkm615 |

Beautiful, remote setting (though not too far from the highway or from KC), with tables overlooking the vines, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and several delicious varieties at a reasonable cost. Will visit again.

Great gift.

By 271carolynn |

I needed a gift for my nephew and he had talked about the winery. I got a gift certificate for him and it was put in a wine bottle and sealed. Friendly service and the free tasting of the wine of the day.

Valentine's day wine and chocolate pairing

By PaulAnn |

Denise and Pam were very helpful and polite. The wine is one of the best tasting that i have had yet.

Always a good time

By Beth H |

I had been here several times for tastings, tours, and summer music. Last weekend I took a friend who had never been, and it was a hit again. Denise made our visit especially pleasant with her welcoming assistance and friendly, knowledgable guidance. We enjoyed the tastings, bought a bottle and baguettes, and sat outside on a beautifully mild winter day. I even rejoined the Creek Club during this visit, and am looking forward the upcoming events and goodies included. Thanks for a great time, Denise!

Very Small Tasting Samples

By ksufan88 |

Decent mix of reds and whites, but the pours were very small. Wines were OK but don’t think I would make the drive out into the country again for them. Bottles were priced at $17.99+, and we didn’t find any that we liked enough to purchase. They had some merchandise for sale located throughout the tasting room.

Recommended for New Wine Connoisseurs

By ELIZABETH P |

My husband and I visited Jowler Creek Winery to do a Wine Pairing and Tour Experience. We have been to wine tastings, wine classes, etc... so I was excited to visit a local vineyard and learn about their wines. I left with mixed emotions. So I will list Pros and Cons of our experience. Unfortunately, my cons outweighed my pros.

Pros: Locally owned and you can see the owner is passionate about his business. Interesting story behind how Jowler Creek Winery came to be. You can tell they are focused on integrating the public into their Winery by offering many events. They have a beautiful wine tasting room and they give you a nice wine glass to take home.

Cons: They have a beautiful wine tasting room which should be used for wine tasting events. Instead there were collapsible tables and chairs set-up in their warehouse which is not insulated and was quite chilly seeing as it was March and only 38 degrees outside that day. We brought our coats for the outdoor portion, but left them on for the entire 2 hour process. The glass that you take home is also the same glass that we used to sample all 9 wines. I would suggest that you not flip flop between reds and whites. Since using the same glass it would be better to focus on whites first then reds or vise versa. This way we do not have to dilute the wine with the water we used to rinse them out. I would also suggest instead of using small paper plates for the food to pair with the wines maybe use evenly spaced butcher blocks or proper appetizer plates. It would make the presentation more appealing. I also wish that the owner would have spoke more about their wines in regards to the flavors, explain the different aromas to each wine etc... Finally, my last suggestion would be that since this was a class that was described on their website as wine pairing, sampling different foods to "perfectly" pair with wines the samples should have been more. This way you are able to sample the wine without the food and then with. The sample sizes were not proportionate enough to do this. They were proportionate enough if doing only a tasting. The presentation was focused more on how Jowler Creek came to be then on the actual wines themselves. I would have liked to have seen them focus more on each individual wine they have and describe them in depth, about their flavors, aromas, sampling techniques.

I think it's great that they are self-made and work hard for something they are passionate about. A majority of the wines we sampled were sweet which would appeal to those who are just getting into wine drinking. I love the way they have incorporated the community with so many events they offer as well.

Told us they were dog friendly, THEIR NOT!

By mdyuhas008 |

I wasn’t going to leave a review but after reading something on their web site that I read after our visit prompted me to say something. Website, “unfortunately, we do not allow pets”. We went for a tasting and asked if they were pet friendly. The response was “absolutely, we have two dogs roaming the property ourself “. So we leashed up our 9 lb and 5 lb Pomeranians and started walking to the tents. One of two of the 80+ lb dogs came up sniffed around and walked away. The other one came up and with no provocation attacked our 9 lb dog biting at is back and neck area. We got him off once and he attacked a second time. Luckily he grabbed on to mostly our dog’s harness. If he attacked our smaller, more fragile Pom, we have no doubt he would have killed her. The manager was very apologetic. The owner wasn’t there at the time but did call us and also was very apologetic.
Just don’t understand them telling us they were pet friendly when their website says they aren’t, especially if they have a vicious animal like that , unleashed, on the premises.

Wine tasting while I was in the Kansas City area.

By Ashley M |

This winery is off the beaten path which makes it relaxing. Great selection of different wines, and fun fact first green winery in Missouri. The outdoor area would be perfect for the summer time and they have a big white dog that is really friendly and likes to greet you at arrival.

Wonderful Wine, Warm Service, Love It!

By Crystal C |

After accidentally discovering this place on vacation a couple years ago, we stop in every chance we get! Their wine is really wonderful by itself, but then paired with the great service, creative food tastings, fun events, it just makes it even better! We stopped in a few days ago, knowing they were closing soon but hoping to squeeze in a quick tasting. Denise did a great job serving us and the other customers that were there, while doing some "side work". She didn't make us feel rushed, and we still made it out of there right on time with a good buzz, 3 bottles of wine, and a desire to return soon. Can't wait to come back, wish we lived closer!!

Sangria Sunday

By Amanda H |

My fiance and I visited for the first time on sangria Sunday, definitely going back soon! Started off with tasting of the wine list, all excellent! With the tasting we got to keep our wine glass, how awesome! Then we had a glass of strawberry lemonade sangria. Best sangria I have ever had! I would highly recommend if you are in the area!

Fun experience

By H P |

We did the wine tasting/pairings and tour this afternoon. We were fortunate to be here on a beautiful 73 degree day in Aug while they were harvesting the vignole grapes. We did the tasting outdoors, walked through the vineyard, taste vignole grapes right off the vine and see how they crush the grapes. It is often just a video tour. This is usually $19/person but a Groupon was $25/two. We tasted all the wines and had small food pairings for 5 of the wines. The owner/host and staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. And the wines are reallyit good.

Great wine tasting/tour

By Julianne N |

We had a groupon for a wine tasting, and they also had a small part where he took you out to the vineyard. It was a very informative tasting. He explains the entire process of wine making, and answers any questions you can think of. They have all sorts of activities at the vineyard year round. I am visiting a friend and am here from out of state, but it sounds like a really fun place for family activities

Nice little winery

By James E |

This was my first ever visit to a winery and I'm not a big wine drinker. We did not do a tour. We tried all of the wines, and they were all good. I felt that the samples were a bit rushed. The ladies working there were very nice and gave a brief description of each wine.

Overall it was a good experience, and I would recommend this place.

Best Winery in the area

By annicedenney |

Love this place! Friday nights here are always a good time with their live music. It's family owned. Jason and Colleen are some of the nicest people you will ever meet! The atmosphere at their winery is fun for all people of legal drinking age. The Muskrato is my favorite wine of theirs, but they have so many different ones to try! They're all amazing, and many of their wines are multiple-award winners. You won't regret visiting this place for a tasting! Their partner location in Weston has a different feel and atmosphere but is just as great!

Beautiful place with good wine

By Mikeguel02 |

Fully Green energy winery with great service and beautiful views. Denise was super fun and gracious hostess. Thank you!

What a great place to go see

By Brandon F |

We stopped by last night to check this place out and was pleasantly surprised of how amazing this place was. Our host Chasity was very fun and entertaining and knew the wines very well. The rustic look of this winery is very relaxing and the live music was great. We will be back again.

Fair Valentine Date

By Slady |

Came here with others with reservations for the chocolate and wine pairing on Valentine Weekend. We were greeted by very friendly staff and sent to a designated area in the back where we were supposed to be served. After about ten minutes, nobody came to help us so I went back to the front to as ask if we’d misunderstood where we were suppose to be. The staff was very apologetic. We soon got our wine and it was great. On the last tasting, there was a mixup @ and the staff was very apologetic again. It was pretty crowded, so I assume the service just had a hard rime keeping up that night. We weren’t able to hear or see the musicians, but we had a decent time. We may try it again sometime on a not so busy day!

Good wine!

By Cindy H |

The good news first...they have some good wines!! Taste is good, variety is good. Plenty of seating both inside and out. The usual tidbits of snacks, cheeses, crackers, etc. The not so good news...a little bit of an odd set up, crowd doesn't flow well. To do a tasting (in the back) we first had to pay at the front register right inside the only door. People were lined up outside waiting just to get in. It was a very beautiful, unseasonably warm fall day so maybe they were more crowded than expected. Anyway, you pay at the front register, get your glass and now move to the back area to taste where there is also a working register??? Why couldn't we just pay there?? Did our tasting, bought a bottle and now have to maneuver back through all the people waiting at the front register to pay for their tasting. Just not enough room for that much activity...no flow!!
Overall, liked the wine, liked the grounds! But they're not set up to handle big crowds!

Fun!

By RochelleSinclair |

The bartender (Denise) working was accommodating and fun. Two of the three in my group joined their monthly club - great deal. Will definitely be returning!

Great place!

By Mary L |

What a wonderful place! We were helped by Denise and she made the experience so enjoyable for us. She was very knowledgeable on the wine and very helpful. The gift shop is too cute! Many options for fun items and they even sell fresh eggs. Love this place!

Fun times great wine

By Kristen C |

What a fun little place with a cute barn. The wine was delicious too! We enjoyed the tasting and the atmosphere. We will be back!

winery on a hot summer night

By Donna Q |

went to the winery on a very hot, humid June Sat. nite...in spite of the heat, it was a very nice experience. There was music; a young man playing guitar and singing and he was good. Luckily we were in the shade, and enjoyed wine and pop, also the warm bread and honey butter. Very limited eating menu, and small venue, but a good place to relax. I would go again, when it's cooler out.

Chocolate Cherry Sangria

By Voyage587990 |

Denise was our hostess today and she was so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable! We split the wine tasting which was perfect - some dry for him, sweet for me.... and then, to top it off was a sample of the amazing chocolate cherry sangria..... absolutely out of this world! I'm looking forward to return trips this summer! Thanks, Denise for a great Valentine's Day treat!

Very cool place, great Groupon experience

By DSP_MPS_Gmail |

We purchased the wine tasting for two and went in a little blind (didn't know much about the place). Family owned business, very green. They give you a tour of the vineyards as well as the operation, and offer tastings of most of the wines. The vineyard tour was cool as they have sheep keeping the grasses low within the grape vines, and chickens to keep the bug population down. We also understood they have harvesting parties (which we'd like to join the future) to pick the grapes when they're ready. We really liked the Cock-A-Doodle Do Red Wine that they had, and purchased a bottle to take home. Great experience, great little Missouri business, would go there again for another tasting.

Great times with friends!!

By toddbryant30 |

Visited the winery for the first time with friends. It was awesome. Great atmosphere with live music and plenty of different wines to try. Beer available too.

Awesome winery!

By Scott E |

Dropped by Jowler Creek Winery on Friday afternoon. We were greeted by Hannah, who was very friendly, knowledgeable and made us feel very welcome. Sitting on the patio looking out over seven beautiful acres, we enjoyed a bottle of wine.

Beautiful, earth friendly winery

By frenchcr |

My wife and I stopped at this winery on our way to Kansas City after seeing a sign for it along the interstate, we were not disappointed! Denise explained all of their wines and what meals would pair well with them as we enjoyed our tasting. We really liked them all and purchased a bottle of vignoles to savor at home. The location was beautiful and peaceful and we appreciated the use of animals to control pests, instead of harmful chemicals. Definitely worth a visit!

Saw it from the road and pulled in!

By Pammy B |

Cute venue, great music and the wine was great! It is not far off the freeway, pull over and take a tasting or just purchase some vino!

Worth the Drive!

By Triptic1 |

My friend and I visited Jowler Creek on a Saturday afternoon. We drove up from Kansas City. Really cute vineyard and house, tastings are in a building that looks like a barn. Loved it! I actually did 10 tastings (not big pours) of their red wines and she did 8 of their whites. Denise was wonderful! Very patient and described each wine in detail. It was just the right size crowd. We had a glass of wine after and enjoyed the overall atmosphere.

Beautiful property

By Melissa A |

Had a wonderful time relaxing in the sun on their beautiful patio. Wine tasting was perfect too. Definitely worth the trip out there.

Jowler Creek

By Carmen M |

My husband, sister in law, her husband and I attended Jowler Creek Winery's winetasting hayride event. I know no one can predict the weather but it was absolutely gorgeous the night we went. I was surprised and happy to learn that the winery is certified green. I loved the natural farm feel. There were 8 wines to taste, dry to sweet, red to white and a complimentary wine glass was included. My favorite wines were the muskrato and butterfly blush. I reccomend going to the special events on Friday over Saturday evenings. It was comfortable and not crowded. The bar area seating is ample however the actual bar is not. I could see a busier evening being frustrating having to wait behind groups of people to finish a tasting. Luckily, there was only a group in front us and the rest of the night the bar was free, open, and accessible. I was bummed that the caramel apple sangria that was advertised on the wall was not available throughout the weekend during the fall season. You can buy a d-i-y caramel apple sangria kit to take home, we didn't end up purchasing one and decided on a bottle of muskrato to share instead. The bottle was priced high at 17.99 each but I dont mind paying a little more for local wine. Denise was a wonderful hostess and we ended up taking advantage of their monthly membership offer. We will be going back and can't wait to attend their next special winetasting event.

A party going on ..rushed and understaffed

By terri8259 |

we were in the area for a wedding and I mapped out a few close by wineries..this was our last stop. We went in and there was about 30 girls in tasting room.. we went to tasting bar and waited to get waited on. Finally someone came to bar and told us if we wanted to do tasti g we had to go back up front. We did..and we had to prepay for tasting.. no problem but then she said to go back in and take a seat..someone would get to us when they could. I mentioned we was on a schedule..and she said..well if you want a speed tasting go back to the tasting bar..we did.. well the girl giving the tasting..poired my first tasting and went to wait on the girls.. came back..and I pretty much chugged the next glasses of wine.. this was at 2:30 in the afternoon. the place was nice..just needed

Easter Keg Hunt

By Mdaddy46 |

We did the Easter Keg Hunt in 2018 at Jowler Creek Winery and had a blast! They had two times and tickets sold out within 2 days. Many wino's from neighboring states. All had a great time! Jowler Creek did a great job of staffing and setting up the event.

Poor customer interface

By Team-1-OP |

I got a groupon from my daughter for my birthday (on December 9th) to Jowler Creek for a Vineyard and Winery Tour and Tasting. After a week or two I took a close look at it and noticed it would expire on Dec 31 of that same month, which I thought was not a very long period of validity. So, I looked online (which was difficult as the website was changing and I was unable to get any useful information) to see when we could go and found out the only "Vineyard and Winery Tour and Tasting" event had occurred a couple days before, on Dec. 19.
I called the winery and they said I could use the groupon in January. When I tried to get online to sign up for January (which was difficult due to website issues as above) I discovered the only date available was during the week we were going to be out of town. I asked about signing up for Feb, and after several phone calls to them, I felt there was an understanding that we could do that. So while I was out of town (in January) I tried to sign up for the one in February and was still having website issues. I decided to call them again (now for the 5th time) and spoke to a man who seemed to be a manager or owner. After telling him how frustrated I was with the whole thing, he finally agreed we could come in Feb and could pick any one of the events to come to. He took my name and groupon number and at that time, I felt we were signed up and just had to show up. Well, when we got there, the girl told us that the event was cancelled. I told her that we had not received any indication that was happening (via phone or email). She said that we had to sign up online and would have known if we had looked; all the website said was that the event was "sold out"; which told me it was full and knowing that we had already signed up, I thought it was still on.
Well, I was so upset at that time (when we arrived at the winery and heard about the cancellation), I just wanted to leave. My wife convinced me to stay as we had driven about an hour to get there. They said we could use it later or now for the wine tasting which we did (allow it was about half the value of the other event). My wife ended up buying something else there, which she should have received for free or a discount because of the inconvenience and frustration they caused us, but that was not offered to her.
I thought the wine tasting was one of the less enjoyable ones, with them mixing some of the wines together in the same glass (even though you could dispose of your remaining wine, there was still a film of the last wine that offset the new wine taste). They did not offer any cheese of crackers to clear your palette between tastings either. Even though I like the fact that they are taking a "green" approach, I would not recommend this winery due to the way we were treated.

Wine was good

I'm not a big fan of paying to taste when I buy, hence the average rating. Service was good and informative; told us about other wineries to visit as well. Enjoyed the wines and bought a couple, along with some cool mementos.

Hurry Up, Secret is Nearly Out

Just splendid. Charming location, great local wine, fun entertainment and fabulous owners/vintners/farmers and hosts. Always a great time at a ridiculously affordable price.

Great day

De-nise was de-best. Great wine and fun atmosphere. Definitely a must on your visit to Weston wine country.

Denise helped us during our visit. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. We ended up staying in Weston for the night. We had a great time!

Afternoon with my hubby... 💗

Best local spot for amazing Missouri wines. We love their sustainable growing practices! And delicious wines, of course!

Best Winery Visit

This place was amazing! We were able to sit outside, try all 8 samples, and enjoy a warm baguette with homemade honey better. Wonderful experience and we look forward to coming back!

Labor day weekend outing

Enjoyed the wine, we will be back. Looks like they are already outgrowing their space as it was very busy.

Jowler Creek Winery

By Cheryl S |

Jowler Creek Winery is a great small winery where one can just relax and drink their excellent wine. We go frequently and always take a bottle home!
We definitely recommend Jowler Creek Winery for people traveling through our beautiful state.
We take advantage of their "Bring food if you wish." policy.
Jowler Creek Winery has merchandise for sale and the most interesting chandeliers we've ever seen!
Vidal the dog is a plus! She greets us every time we're there unless she's found shade under one of the outdoor tables for her nap.

Nice small winery

By Chad521 |

This is a nice small winery. Its a little off the beaten path but once you get there its a nice place. They have a smaller selection then some others in the Weston area but their wines are very nice.

Poor customer service

By shashadventures12 |

My friend took me there for my birthday and it was a bit disappointing. We were directed to a tent with broken space heaters. When we mentioned the propane may have been out we were told it wasn't, then we mentioned that they were not working and we were told someone would be up to check on it and no one ever did. After about an hour we left because we were cold and the wine was only ok. The day we went was not that busy and I just felt as if they didnt believe us. I dont think I'll go back.

Amazing set up!!

By roamingpogues |

This winery is all green even down to a Tesla charging station. The port was excellent but costly. Vignoles was tasty! Love the doodles on the bottles. The bar area is creative and very decorative. The outdoor sitting area was really well kept and tastefully done.

Great little place

By nkm615 |

Great little farm, nice sitting area, decent wine. You can bring your own snacks (most times) and sit and relax.

Great Experience and Awesome Staff!

By Jake M |

This place is Top Notch! I have a unique perspective in that I drive a bus for a tour company out of near-by KC. I was driving a larger group of around 30 ladies this past weekend and could not have asked for better service or a better experience in general. Sara and Hannah crushed it! They both always have smiles for our groups. Even when I bring larger groups which can sometimes be an inconvenience. It is, simply put, a pleasure working with them! They just get it and I feel very confident every time I visit that our people will be welcomed and treated right. Love going to Jowler Creek for that very reason!

Other reasons: They are a 'Green' winery. From the sheep and chickens that help look after the grapevines to the bees and bats that also call Jowler Creek home, these guys believe in a very eco-friendly approach to producing quality, great tasting wines.

Thanks again Sara & Hannah for making our visit special!

Very nice

Stopped and did a tasting. Great wines and very friendly service. Will stop again when in the area. Looks nice if the weather was better for outdoor activities.

A Treasure

By Laura H |

My husband and I love visiting this winery and often invite friends and family to join us. They offer a good variety of wines in a lovely country setting. The indoor seating area is rustic and charming while the outside space is peaceful and inviting. We always pack a picnic to take with us (though they offer cheeses, crackers and meats for purchase as well.) Bonus - they have beer for those who want to join the fun but don't prefer wine!

Worth the trip off the main path

By Matthew S |

My wife and I stopped by one rainy Saturday evening on our way home. It was well worth the trip off the main path to visit the winery. They have quite a few different wines to offer for everyone's taste. We had the five wine tasting to pair down our list and was able to find a few bottles to take home. They had live music that night and from what I hear most Saturday nights as well. We don't often get up that way but would love to stop in again when we are close by.

Fun Pairings

By Kelsey T |

This is a great venue, the house on the property is also used as an Air B&B. They do fun things all year to keep it interesting, around halloween they do candy and wine pairings. They do hayrides in the fall, in the summer they have live music on the weekends, it is such a fun place to go. Would be great for

First visit - but definitely coming back!

By aaronhkcmo |

The biggest surprise for all of us was how close the winery is to KC. It was such a quick drive and then when you pull into the drive you see what an amazing location this is for Jowler Creek. This was our first trip and we were there with a group of 10 people. The tasting room is nice and big...the outdoor space is even better on a crisp Fall evening. We were there for the hayride event which is a heck of a bargain if you are looking for some cheap, adult fun. It's a quick ride around the vineyard but you learn a lot about the property, the growing process, and the owners. You also get a great sample of maybe 6-8 wines (we lost count) and a free wine glass. The owners and other workers are very friendly and really made everyone seem welcome. It was a busy place for a Friday night but the general atmosphere is very laid back and made you want to stick around for as long as possible.

This is a great place to hangout on a Saturday night. Bring your lawn or grab one of their table spot and sit back drink some good wine and listen to some good live music.

Luscious vineyard on ample acreage

By Kim T |

Of the four wineries we visited this day, Jowler Creek was my favorite. Other wineries nearby are "tasting rooms" only with actual vineyards not on site. However, Jowler Crrek has the luscious vines in ample acreage in view as you make your way from county road to their driveway. We were greeted by resident Pyrenees family dog and ushered into the tasting room full of rustic charm. We opted for the $5.00 tasting which gave us three wines plus we got to keep the cute etched wine glasses as souvenirs.
Employees were friendly and knowledgable and even gave restaurant recommendations for our time in Kansas City. My idea of what a "true" winery should look like. 20 minutes from KC airport.

Nice place off the beaten path.

By Susan2621 |

Four of us stopped on a Friday, early in the day for a tasting. We were the only ones there and Denise was very engaging. We enjoyed the wines and had hot baguettes with honey butter with a bottle of wine after the tasting. The gift shot has a lot of cute, quirky gift items. All in all we had a great time.

Great winery tour

By hazeleyes19862003 |

I bought my fiance and myself 2 tickets to visit this winery and go through their hour long tour. The tour itself was held inside the winery (as it was under 10 degrees outside!) and was very informational - you get to see how they make their wine - and hear about some of the reasons how it all began. It is a relatively new winery and we can't find their wine here at home in Saint Louis, but we did bring quite a few bottles home with us! They're delicious! The muskrato is fantastic! Definitely worth the trip! There is not a "fee" to just go in and do the wine tasting - but to do the tour, there is a fee, fyi!

Fun place to kick back on Saturday night

Good music, light food and local wine. Wine is on sweet side, but great vibe makes it worth the visit.

Missouri Winery

By Kevin C |

Jowler Creek was a fantastic experience! Visited on 6/7/19 with friends. We did a tasting and had a very hard time deciding which wines to take home with us because they were all wonderful. Our host Denise was very knowledgeable and very nice! Gave us many ideas of things to do while in town.

The perfect picnic

By Michael C |

We had a really nice time on a beautiful Spring day at Jowler Creek. Denise made us feel very special and important to her as customers (they were quite busy). This was our first visit in April. Our visit last month was also a highlight for a birthday weekend. They were sponsoring a raffle for local flood victims. My wife won a club membership, but losing would have still been a win for a worthy cause. Denise served us then as well, providing lots of reasons to return! They permit picnicking!!! Yay! Their wine and venue is also a win. Thanks JowlerCreek.

Amazing time, such a cute venue with very fun and friendly staff!

By taylornthomas9 |

My friends and I stopped by Jowler Creek on a "wine girls day" and we had an AMAZING time. Cari and Denise were the two lovely girls working that day and made our experience even more enjoyable. To top it off I am now addicted to caramel apple sangria. Will definitely be going back!

Valentine's Day Wine Tasting

By Mike H |

My wife and I attended for Valentine’s Day. We arrive at 6pm and as we entered the winery we were immediately welcome and serve a wine glass with pomegranate in it was delicious. We met the Owner of the winery and we were escorted to our seats. The wine tasting was composed of four entries accompanied with the perfect wine. I am not a wine connoisseur but I can tell you that the different wines served were a perfect match to the entry they were delicious the food and wine. At the end of the tasting they serve cheese cake which is my favorite and a fortified great wine. As you took a bite of the cheesecake and some of the wine selected for the desert it was just incredible. We will certainly return when it is warm outside and have some wine and walk around the vineyard. Best Valentine ever.

Wonderful afternoon at the winery

My wife and I were on our first visit to the Heartland- stopped by the Jowler Creek Winery near Kansas City and received exceptional service from Denise- ask for her. Excellent wine selection, welcoming people, and good info on other things to do in the area.
