My 1st tall lighthouse climb! I have waited many years to visit & climb an East Coast lighthouse and Jupiter Inlet was the one! I volunteer at a Hudson River lighthouse in New York State which is 54' high so this was big to me. I didn't want to leave! It is a beautiful place. My daughter's Girl Scout Bear Build-A-Bear as always was with me and made the climb earning a pin for her vest.

Great tour at sunset. Excellent views. We learned a great deal about the history of the lighthouse. Got to see the light on the ocean really cool.

By debbie d |

The lighthouse is beautiful and the landscaping around it is wonderful. Walked up and toured the museum. Wonderful place to go. Nice easy walk to and beautiful big trees in front of it. Great gift shop and rest rooms.

If you expected to go to a great spot with wonderful views, this is a challenge. The approach, parking, and grounds leave a lot to be desired.

By Ira |

Rustic atmosphere greets you, as you absorb the history of this site. The climb up circular stairs can be exhausting, but the view is worth it. For me, coming down was terrifying; also, if you're claustrophobic, don't go.

We were four seniors who took the tour and climbed to the top of the lighthouse. Excellent view from the top of the surrounding area. 105 steps to the top. Every 25 steps there is a place to rest. We had a nice time.

By neech12 |

Heard about this last time I was in the area so this time around I made it a point to visit. We were impressed by the view and history of the light house. There are a lot of steps 105 spiral steps which can be dizzying. You can step off into a small 2 person alcove every 25 steps. There are 3 alcoves. It’s not for the faint of heart. If you are afraid of heights or can’t do stairs or aren’t in good shape don’t go. It’s $12 to get in kids under 16 are $6. And seniors 65 and up also active military pay $6. It’s a nice day. Spend time walking around the grounds and walk on the pier 2 hours is enough time. When you go you give your name and get assigned a group climbing time to come back as they only go up in groups of like 15 people at a time like every 25 mins. But overall a fun time

We first came to Jupiter Lighthouse in Feb 2017 with a group of friends, the tour was amazing and interesting. The views walking up to the lighthouse are gorgeous and once at the top, breathtaking! Our two tour guides in Feb '17 were knowledgeable and fun. Fast forward to January 2018, our first tour guide seemed like she was ready to leave for the day and rushed through. She kept her back to us while talking and we could barely hear her hurried words. Once at the top, the sexond tour guide was dressed for a blizzard (it was 65 degrees and windy). We felt rushed to head back down. I asked about some of the interesting stories heard on my last tour so mt guests could hear, but she just nodded and then didnt elaborate. Very disappointing. We also had to wait about 20 min in the new museum area because there was a wedding dress rehearsal. Overall, this is a great experience if you have the right guide, if not it is underwhelming at best.

We have seen the Jupiter Lighthouse in the distance from the roads, and park areas, as well as all over the weather on the news channels. Today I wanted to get up close and personal for a guided tour to learn about the history of our paradise state, Florida!! The admission price was very reasonable, $10.00, for folks over 60. Even though it is August in Florida, many of the adjacent buildings housing artifacts and historical photos were air conditioned to give us a break!! The tour guides make the guided tour very interesting as their knowledge is shared about the past battles and wars and Native American Indians. Ascending the steep spiral staircase to the top of the lighthouse is not an easy exercise, but worth each step to capture the fabulous view of the Jupiter Inlet from the top. Also you get a Birdseye view of some of the fabulous real estate on Jupiter Island!! Worth the visit!!!

By Steve t |

It’s an easy climb to the top for great views of the coast. Not rushed to exit; docent at base and top can there to provide answers to your questions and they do a nice job.

Imagine being the first keepers and hiking the steps carrying kerosine up and down to keep the light lite.

It’s still an operational light house.

Look in local coupon/guides for $2 off coupon.

Great gift shop, excellent museum and video. The banyon tree is simply amazing! Staff is very helpful.

By Rachael S |

My husband and I went here while visiting palm beach. We loved it, the little museum had alot of really cool displays and presented interesting history on the area. The light house was beautiful both around the base and the view from the top. Breathtaking views of the area from the top. Obviously lots of stairs to get there but worth every step. We paid for the guided tour which provided a great deal of fun facts. Would recommend!

By Jennifer K |

This was a really cool place to see some history. We didn't go up in the lighthouse but it looked like you could as I saw people up there. We fished behind the museum and I caught a small shark! It's a neat place!

By Amber S |

Went here recently with my partner after a kayaking trip. This is a lighthouse I hadn’t been to before, and he’d never even seen one so of course we had to go. Pricing is pretty standard as far as light house entry goes. It is a beautiful light with lots of history. I liked that they only let so many people go up at a time because it managed the crowd. I did however make a mistake as a native Floridian by not hydrating enough before and during our experience and we had to leave because I got so sick from the heat. So definitely hydrate hydrate hydrate. :)

By Don G |

I posted a review late last year discussing a poor tour of the lighthouse. The owners replied stating it didn't sound like this met their standards either. My wife took our visiting British friends to the lighthouse this week....... Much improved tour and the guide was wonderful. The lighthouse and the grounds are amazing, as are the museum and gift shop staff. Add this to your list of places to enjoy in the area.

Allow 15 – 30 minutes for Draw Bridges

Florida Light Houses and US Light Houses from Maine to Florida continue to be an on-going attraction as we travel the US.

We highly recommend a visit to the Jupiter Light House and Museum.

By Shannon H |

You get a great view from the water too. You can see this if You are on the island princess cruise.
The lighthouse closed early at 5. We we're not able to go in.
Definitely would return with more time. I would estimate spending an hour and half here.

By I Know Places |

My family loved the amazing view and climb to the top of the lighthouse. The climb wasn’t too bad at a little over 100 steps up the spiral staircase.

The museum and grounds were so amazing and were full of lots of interesting information. We saw stingrays swimming outside the museum! The gift shop had lots of unique gifts.

By Julia T |

Love lighthouses and this one did not dissapoint. I would take the guided tour, which is no extra cost. I will probably visit this again.

By Lil D |

Excellent docent, beautiful scenic area, lots of wonderful history. There is an elevator to get to the top of the lighthouse.

By Ed W |

It is worth the climb for the fantastic view of Jupiter Inlet and the surrounding area. Gave us a little exercise while we were at it.

By DDay1959 |

It is 105 steps to the top of the lighthouse and for $12 per adult you can climb them. This lighthouse was first lit in 1860, right before the start of the American Civil War and was designed by General Mead who commanded the Union forces at Gettysburg. There is also a small museum outlining early life in Florida and the Seminole tribe that roamed the wilderness and swamps before Europeans landed. The view from the top of the lighthouse was well worth the cost of admission.

By Fraser's Travels & Craft Beer |

We stopped with the intention of seeing & climbing the LH. As the grounds are all fenced in you can’t initially get anywhere near it. The photo opportunities are therefore limited to long range shots of the top of the LH. We felt the $12 entrance fee was a bit steep, compared to say Ponce de Leon LH which is only $6.95pp so ended up giving it a miss. Shame as it looks like it is quite impressive. So come on JIL lower your prices (or costs), or is it simply a ploy to keep visitor numbers down and therefore make the mandatory tours manageable?

By No Passport Required |

Short and sweet. You learn about the history of the lighthouse and the climb isn't so bad. Best thing is the view from the top.

By Frank N |

Was here years ago, much better now. The tour guides are very nice and informative. Can't wait to come back again.

By A3698YVjonc |

Great visit to the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. Our group of 8 visited last week and really enjoyed the climb and views ~ We had a beautiful sunny day with clear sky. The volunteers were all very helpful and knowledgeable, sharing interesting facts and keeping everyone spread out to maintain safe distance. Everyone was wearing a mask and it was not too crowded. They also sent us up in small groups that made it nice. Would recommend stopping if you are in the area.

By TranquilNona |

Very informative learned so much about the area. The history of the area and so much more. I could go back again and again and always learn something I missed. Then the view is astonishing and breathtaking. Looking forward to another trip.

By Meg C |

We came here on a rainy day and had a very good time. It’s a simple place and not a lot to see besides the lighthouse but that’s basically what we wanted to see. We climbed to the top which wasn’t that tall and easy to do. There wasn’t a map to tell us the different parts of the inlet and the app was basically telling you what the signs said so you don’t really need it. Just enjoy the climb and view and the whole area. Very friendly staff.

By Lyric Clearwater |

What a lovely little place. The musuem’s building are all very well kept. The museum historical exhibits don’t take long to wander through and there’s a good video about the lighthouse. The grounds are nicely landscaped and immaculate. Huge Banyan tree just below the light house. Walk up the 125 steps of the light house- there are alcoves with windows you can rest at every 25 steps. Open air area at top. Bring a picnic! Decent gift shop too.

By pambender604 |

I've lived in Florida for over 35 years and this was my first trip to this lovely lighthouse and museum. It's in a beautiful area (Jupiter, FL) and the grounds were beautifully landscaped. We took the guided tour and enjoyed hearing about all of the history of the lighthouse and the area. Well worth the trip and the money!!

By seh22016 |

Great place to go. The people who tell you the history are very knowledgeable.
Enjoyed everything about the Jupiter Lighthouse!

By Melissa |

Going w the Docent is important. The Docent does not cost extra. We had a nice time visiting the Jupiter Lighthouse and Museum. There is a lot of interesting history that you learn when you tour w the Docent. I highly recommend. We had a fun couple hours here and I look forward to taking family when the visit.

By Trypp Adams |

I pulled in here and was surprised to find the Admission at $12. It seemed a bit excessive given the site. I decided to drive up the road a bit and there is a park and Coast Guard Way, where you can park and take in the view. Also, I would say the view headed north on A1A as you go over the bridge is probably the best view you can get of the lighthouse.. or grabbing a drink at a couple of restaurants across the canal from the lighthouse probably offer up better pictures than actually being on the property.

By Charles A |

We climbed the 105 steps inside plus the 30 steps outside to beautiful unobstructed view. Donation fee for climbing with certificate afterwards.

By PowerTrippers |

My wife is a huge fan of lighthouses and this is the best one we've found in Florida. It includes a nice little museum and an historic old house. The lighthouse itself is very picturesque and the views from the lighthouse are outstanding. It was a nice little "off the beaten path" find.

By Sharon B |

The gift shop is nice and the tour guides were wonderful and very helpful. The tour through the house on the premises was interesting as well as the various trees and plants that are on the property. If you decide to climb the many steps in the lighthouse, you can get a certificate which states that you did so. It is a wonderful view and quite the experience. There are a few benches in the area of the ancient Banyan tree which is a nice place to wait for the energetic lighthouse climbers to return from their trek. Well worth the tour.

By Andi |

Great place to take visitors. Walking up to the top gives a great view of the inlet. Then have lunch at one of the many places

By Megan J |

My family toured the lighthouse and museum on a recent trip to Jupiter, and the views from the top of the lighthouse are spectacular! What a great experience! And, the tour is free to active military, which was a nice surprise!

By Amy F |

We saw this on our way to something else and decided to stop! This place has a lot of history, and it's very neat to learn about while walking the grounds. Walking up to the top of the lighthouse isn't for the faint of heart! It's a long way up, and it's exhausting, but it's so pretty when you get to the top!

By Laurie C |

I live on siesta key so I’m used to seeing beauty (sunset beauty) but I bought a ticket for Sunset Tour of Jupiter lighthouse this month and oh my gosh! What a treat ! They only take 15 people so buy a ticket in advance. Masks are required and it’s a climb (over 100 stairs) but the view at sunset !!! Swoon! Always breezy up there and water everywhere. It was breathtaking ! Our guide was passionate about lighthouses and you could tell. This lighthouse is beautiful. The light came on while we were up there (goes on after sunset ) so it was cool to see its beam on the water. I took the pic after the climb looking back at the lighthouse. Such a treat! ❤️

By cszostak |

The Jupiter lighthouse is an iconic landmark that we only enjoyed from afar until now. We took the short drive, walked to the top and had. Great view of the beautiful clouds, ocean and water. This is a great activity and the kids loved it too!

By Charlieak |

Took husband and two boys aged 11 and 8 as part of our vacation. Wonderful, young staff members who were really friendly and attentive. The views from the lighthouse are fantastic and the museum areas are well done and informative. A must do in Jupiter.

By Jay |

The lighthouse and ground are amazing. The view is spectacular from the top. It is a lighthouse so there is a climb, but it’s worth it. The grinds are fun to explore as well.

By Catie H |

A couple things happened on my visit to Jupiter Lighthouse that initiated my low score. I am leaving the feedback with the Lighthouse organization as well so they might handle these issues better next time.
First, the lady who was selling the tickets (which were a steep $12.00 just to climb stairs to top of Lighthouse) in the office was very sick. She was wiping her nose up and then handing my change and ticket to me with the same hand. She did not seem to understand the ramifications of this.
Second, after climbing the stairs to the top of the Lighthouse, the man who monitors the top told me and another visitor that we could have our picture quickly taken and leave or we could stay but another group was coming up and we would not be able to leave for at least 15 minutes as we would become part of their group (this is how I understood it). So I got to see a quick shot of the Inlet but never really got to stick around long enough to really soak in the experience as it was clear the man wanted us to leave. I just saw the inlet side but really had wanted to take photos from all sides. The whole thing was really strange and made no sense. I feel like it was a waste of $12.00.

By gwencorder |

This is a historic landmark in Jupiter and worth visiting and absorbing the museum and walk up to the lighthouse. I have a brick in memory of my husn=abnd who loved this area so much.

By Steve M |

This is a beautiful lighthouse to visit. Just walking around the grounds is gorgeous. In front of the caretakers house there are some pineapple plants, with some small pineapples. You go up the lighthouse in groups so they can keep control of the flow of people on the steps. On top you will get some breath taking pictures of the water. The people there were very nice and will answer any questions you have.

By John I |

A great place for a day outing. The admission of $10 gives you access to the lighthouse and museum. Great scenery n a beautiful day , and, lots of other activities, beaches and restaurants nearby.

By fiftyplusmale |

I liked this lighthouse because of the history and the environment around it. The lighthouse is just a beautiful structure. The views from the location are pretty. We are too decrepit to make the climb, so in essence I paid more than I wanted to, to walk up and look at it, but the money keeps the magnificent structure going and that made it worth the money in my book.

By S K |

Can do self-guided or docent tour (same price) with historic buildings and markers on the ground. The climb is steep but those choosing not to climb can rest in the shade of a huge banyan tree below. We went on a cloudy day which kept the climb fairly cool.
There are landings on the climb, if you need to stop, docent at top and bottom. Parking is free and plentiful.

By kkhappl |

Awesome view from the top! If you want the best experience I would recommend checking the water tide chart for the day. As with any intercostal waterway/ inlet. The best views are on an incoming tide. If you are unfamiliar with tides look up tide chart for Jupiter inlet on the internet or call any local bait and tackle store. If the tide chart says that low tide is at 9 am then plan to show up any time between 10am and 3pm. (Just make sure you call and get there hours of operation for the day). This will give you that beautiful turquoise blue water that you think of and you are there to see! On an outgoing tide (within 6 hours after high tide on the tide chart) water is brown due mainly to natural processes (not pollution)... It is definitely a climb to the top but there is several places where you can stop and rest/take photos if you need to. Enjoy the vastness and beauty of Gods creation!

By Trek-Always |

$10 includes a climb up the lighthouse. To get to the top it is 34 steps outside, plus 105 inside. There are 4 landings to rest, if needed.

Wonderful Banyon tree during your wait. A couple of small museums are interesting.

No tripods. Well done attraction.

If this review is helpful then please indicate so below.

We loved our visit. It is a must see when you are in the area. The people are friendly and the guides are knowledgeable of the area. Such a wonderful view of the inlet and surrounding area. We bought two personalized bricks, one of which as a gift for my father, who loves lighthouses.

By Jamie W |

Been several times....took friends & family from out of town. Very historic....lots of shade & always a breeze!!! The climb is "worth the view!!" Sometimes they have musicians playing on the porch that overlooks the intercoastal...acoustic guitars, mandolins, banjos, etc....its very cool!.

By netster3 |

Go and climb the lighthouse if you can. The views are spectacular. I believe they also have sunset climbs as well. The museum is neat too. Check the schedule before you go. Enjoy!

By Rita W |

The museum was interesting, lots of exhibits. We had gone to lighthouse with intention of taking the sunset tour, which was listed in the information about the lighthouse. However, when we arrived at the lighthouse we were informed that due to cool weather and breezy situation, there would be no sunset tour. So I would suggest not paying for tour in advance, and to check by phone the day you plan to go to make sure tour will take place.

My first visit was in the late 90s and I enjoyed it then. But NOW it's become so much better - lots of improvements and additions to make it more pleasant and fun. I visited with my 85-year-old mother. She struggled a bit to complete the walk between the museum and the lighthouse - she uses a walker and has COPD. She enjoyed sitting in the shade of the amazing banyan at the base of the lighthouse, though, while I climbed to the top. An employee kindly kept an eye on her and offered her water. The museum and gift shop are great - fun to look around. The porch was very inviting and if we'd had more time, I would have enjoyed relaxing and watching the boat traffic. Even if you don't climb the lighthouse, it's worth the walk to see the banyan trees! I wished we had had more time to enjoy all this place has to offer. I will be back.

Was on our list of places to visit while visiting family and the lighthouse did not disappoint.

First- purchased tickets inside the trailer like building that also acts as a gift shop.

Afterwards, we met Judith, who was situated under the tiki hut…it’s the place you have to pass through before heading to the lighthouse.
Judith was incredibly informative, letting us know that there was much more to see in this beautiful space than just the lighthouse (albeit this was the star). We were excited to explore these areas after making our climb.
We were allowed to go up once we got to the base- in fact, my husband was asked to bring keys up to the guide at the top! We were more than happy to oblige.

The spiral steps are not for the faint of heart. There is a sturdy hand railing to guide you but you honestly need to be aware of your foot gear and your ability to navigate narrow spaces.

Once at the top, the views are worth every bit of the climb…unfortunately, FL weather dictates whether you can remain at the top or not. In our case, lightning was detected and we had to head down.
We were told by the guide at the top that our money would be refunded since we had to leave - literally the grounds as well.

We got back to where we purchased our tickets and were told “if you climbed the lighthouse- no refund.”
Probably need to consider this rule as we missed out on much more of this beautiful spot.

Don’t miss this amazing site but just keep in mind items shared above.

By Traveler |

It is easy to see why this place rates so highly on Trip Advisor. It is such a beautiful and historic setting. Strongly recommend you spend the few dollars for the guided tour otherwise you will miss so much of the history. A big past time seems to be sitting on the chairs by the museum (shaded) and just watching the steady stream of boats going by.

By SarahlovesKevin |

Absolutely breathtaking views. There are several stairs to climb, so would not be suitable for everyone. Staff was very nice. Gift shop was cute. Definitely recommend! Don’t miss out!

Lovely place to spend the afternoon. Very interesting information from the tour guide.had a great time would recommend this on anyone’s list of things to see in Florida

By Candy M |

Beautiful setting and views of and around the lighthouse. The guides were friendly and excited to share their knowledge of the lighthouse and area with us.

By McManus36 |

Lots of history. Beautiful place. Friendly staff. Lots of parking. My son was too short to climb the lighthouse so just my husband and daughter went. I bet in winter getting married under the lighted trees would be enchanting! Gift shop smelt terrible though-mold from the rain maybe?

By ElBee007 |

Don't miss this one! Just be sure to make reservations (covid) as they sell out quickly. The tour guide was great and filled us in on the local yore of the area. Really a must see.

By Cynthia P |

Great lighthouse and small museum for a nice day trip. Lighthouse very well kept up and the museum is a must for lovers of Florida history. Employees were all very nice.

By CindyMcN |

The day we went to the lighthouse it was actually closed due to rainy weather. Although we were disappointed we could not go up in the lighthouse, the gift shop was fun to walk around and the person working there very nice. Would definitely recommend and go back next time we are visiting.

By Michelle N |

Beautiful views from the top of the lighthouse and very helpful and informative guides. The museum was also very interesting.

By Pamela M |

We enjoyed our visit to the lighthouse and museum. The grounds are nice and you can get some very nice photos

By grinch4 |

Had a problem finding the road and then discovered that it was closed at 3 o'clock on Saturday afternoon.

By Raegan L |

Wow is this place awesome, I could not more highly recommend! Going up into the lighthouse is so rad. You are still currently required to wear a mask the whole time, so I was a little worried that it would be absolutely miserable and I would feel like I’m dying a little bit. But, it actually wasn’t too bad climbing up to the top! And they take groups of around 15 people at a time, so you can rest if you want to and you won’t get in anyone’s way. And the view at the top- holy cow, so cool!! Just absolutely beautiful and mesmerizing, there’s something so different about being able to stand at the top of such a large, cool, historic structure and see all around you for miles and miles. There are a lot of other little houses and parts of the museum as well where you can read more about this lighthouse and area. I found it so fascinating how Jupiter used to literally be no mans land out in the middle of nowhere and to then think of what it’s become today, it’s pretty crazy. Such a gorgeous little area, it’s even nice just to sit in the gardens and enjoy the day, definitely come here if you have the chance! It’s an experience not like many others! (They do also have a small gift shop and bathrooms near the lighthouse)

By Grandmama |

Climb to the top for a spectacular view and enjoy the shop, museum and friendly volunteers - nice way to spend a few hours for a memorable time

By Rockvilleguy |

I have seen a lot of lighthouses and this is among the very best. The setting is spectacular, on top of a hill overlooking the Jupiter Inlet. The lighthouse is beautiful with its distinctive red color. All the people working at the side were very friendly and knowledgeable. There is also a small museum with some very interesting exhibits, be sure to check it out! The entraqnce fee also includes a guided tour. Again this was very interesting,

By junebug187 |

The good...awesome views, clear blue water. We even saw a manatee. The grounds were prestine. The bad...As we were enjoying the grounds, waiting for the ticket counter to open, We were rudely approached by an elderly staff member informing us that admission wasn't free? As if we thought we didn't have to pay.The younger guy working the gift shop was very nice and polite. I'm not sure how he can stand working with these old volunteers who seem to be on a power trip. GAIL was probably the single rudest person we had encountered. The younger girl told us all exhibits were open. . When we approached The Village, She literally screamed at us. Leon, who was at the top at the lighthouse was friendly and
informative. Visit for the views, but be prepared for rude staff. The rude volunteers are in serious need of hospitality training.

By RicknAnn_1928 |

If you enjoy lighthouses this is great one to climb. It’s extremely well preserved and the narrowness of the spiral staircase means it’s one-way traffic only. Kind of like a flag man of a highway, the staff controls when you go up to prevent a traffic jam. They gathers a group on the landing by the banyan tree below the light and send you up when it’s clear. Once at the top, the view of the inlet is beautiful. The water is so clear we were able to spot a manatee foraging near the shoreline! Also, the July day we visited the heat was well over 95F, so the breeze from the lighthouse rail was wonderful.

By dianne_tjm |

We went there last monday and its a not good timing because of the weather but were able to climed up to the light house but the staff chased us out to soon because it's raining like crazy we went on a tour its educational the entrance fee is very affordable 10 for seniors and military and 12 for adults they have small but nice souvenier shop as well after the walk and run to and from the light house we visited the museum its small but its ok..the best best part of the visit is the breath taking view from the light house... location is very accessible its just by US1 .

By Mary K |

The lighthouse tour is a must for everyone who loves lighthouses or anyone who would like to. It's very interesting with history of the area included along with the actual crafting and use of the lighthouse. It's quite a hike to the top but the view is well worth the effort.

By Andi |

The museum is a great history display of our area not to mention taking the tour to the top of the lighthouse. If it rains, the tours become limited so make sure you go during great weather or you chance losing your tour time up the lighthouse

By Guy A |

We've toured several lighthouses since moving to the east coast but kept seeing the one in Jupiter from the water as we passed by. Finally made the drive down from Stuart for a tour and some lunch nearby.

Thoroughly enjoyed the history of this light, The facitlity is well maintained and clean and the staff were excellent in explaining and helping.

My wife is not big on heights but she made the trip up with me and thoroughly enjoyed herself. The Keepers Workshop had a large amount of information we had not heard previously and really put things into context for us as we are new to the area. The Tindall House was very interesting and we were able to have a private conversation with an employee we met there about the house, very interesting stuff.

The Banyan tress was simply awesome.

We did out own tour and I think if I were to do it again I would schedule a tour with a guide.

By Woodsmith44 |

A great place to enjoy a breathtakingly beautiful view of Jupiter Island and the landscape surrounding it. The climb up the tower is moderately difficult for us "seasoned citizens" but worth the effort. The lighthouse and grounds are beautifully maintained and you can sit on the porch of the gift shop and enjoy watching the boats go by. A delightful way to spend an afternoon!

By Beachcomb_33 |

If you love lighthouses like I do, you gotta see this one. The view from the top is amazing. Yes, of course, there are some steps to get to the top, but it is so worth it. There are spots to rest going up and down. Friendly staff. Beautiful grounds to walk around. Nice gift shop. I highly recommend it.

By Scene-set |

Staying at Jensen Beach we decided this was one place worth seeing. Large free car parking area although we did struggle to find entrance, we were approaching from the north, and having missed the sign eventually realised you enter via the park which leads to the parking lot and the entrance to the shop, museum and lighthouse.

Lovely place to spend some time, some walking and of course climbing involved, but it's well worth the effort.

By whimsytravelers |

Super fun visit to the lighthouse in Jupiter. For $12 you get to climb to the top (105 steps to the top) and go to the museum. The grounds is well kept and has a beautiful tree covering the entrance of the lighthouse. The views at the top is 360 degrees of the coast.

By Aimee G |

When we visited, the museum was still closed due to the hurricane threat from a few weeks earlier. They gave us a voucher that's good for up to a year to come back. We went to the top of the lighthouse which is over 100 steps up, and the views were amazing. The grounds were beautiful leading up to to lighthouse. All the staff were so friendly and very knowledgeable.

By Kathy W |

The lighthouse and museum were interesting. I enjoyed the history. I would recommend this as a family activity.

By Mallory w |

Have had a beach house in Jupiter for quite some times but recently visited the lighthouse for the first time. Found it to be really interesting and enjoyed walking the grounds. You get great views from the top of the lighthouse. Highly recommend trying this place out!

By solofishergal |

Very pleasant staff & volunteers. This is one of the Lighthouses that actually has someone (staff) waiting at the top to greet you when you arrive which is reassuring & welcoming. The views are worth the climb.

By BakerFamily |

Just a beautiful spot. Historic site to the area and a wonderfully preserved lighthouse. Its quite a few steps to the top, but you have the greatest view in all of Jupiter. The lighthouse and the lighthouse museum are also beautifully situated on the inter coastal and you will see some people just come with chairs and hang-out waterside. Check it out if you have and hour or so.

By David R |

This lighthouse has historical significance dating back to the civil war. The tour seems a little over priced but if you want to climb the lighthouse, you must pay 12 dollars for adult. Nice views and good displays but the tour guide was not all that excited about the history. Nevertheless, I would still recommend the tour.

By Dawn M |

I especially enjoyed the guided tour & history of the light house, grounds & area. All inclusive with the entry fee & museum. Definitely fit it into your visit to Jupiter Florida.

I love lighthouses and we try to visit every one that I can. Love the history! When my husband was in the Coast Guard he spent time repairing this light house, so it was a special stop for us. The gift shop is super cute. (Don’t leave without buying some Key Lime Fudge.) EveryOne was super nice, informative and helpful.... well, other than one guy at the base of the lighthouse controlling the groups making the climb. He was a bit of a jerk to everyone.

By Erica A |

We really had a great time during our visit. The staff was so friendly! They were also extremely knowledgable, my boys loved to learn all about the place!

By Susan T |

Wonderful museum and history education, beautiful park to explore and then climb the lighthouse to get terrific views. Good for all ages. There are several museum buildings, knowledgeable docents about the history and a lot of fun for all.

By MGQ |

If you're a lighthouse buff like me, you'll love this one. It should be easy to find but with the current re-construction of the bridge, it's a little more difficult...just follow the detour signs. It is located in a park way in the back...just keep following the road.
Once you're there, it's a lovely park setting and well-run. There is a small shop where you buy your tickets. Upon entering the park, someone in a booth will give you a map and explain everything on the grounds. When you get to the lighthouse, you will have to wait and go up as a group as there can only be so many people in the lighthouse at one time and there isn't room for two-way traffic on the stairs. It's an easy climb and the view is great. The grounds are pretty to walk around and the new dock is nice for viewing the lighthouse and taking pictures. On your way our you'll get a certificate for climbing the lighthouse. It was a nice experience.

By emneth |

What a great thing to do! The tour was about an hour, and the hike wasn't too bad, with it only taking about 15 minutes to reach the top of the lighthouse. Our tour guide, Joe, was clearly enthusiastic about this piece of history and very knowledgeable. This tour is great for families, as they do offer history and you also see the lighthouse keeper's house, but they keep the talking short and sweet. The view was amazing at the top, and the whole ordeal was very professional and had great caretakers. The museum was also well stocked and gave a longer history of the place. I will definitely recommend to anyone visiting Jupiter.

By melissasmy |

We had a wonderful tour, extremely knowledgeable tour guides! There are 105 steps to the top of the lighthouse, very much worth the climb. There is so much history throughout the complex!

By Michelle |

I dont like heights so i didnt make it to the top of the lighthouse but i still enjoyed going with my family. Pretty area to walk around

By court2569 |

Arrive early and take the time to climb the 105 steps to the top of the lighthouse. Amazing views to capture on your telephoto or wideangle lens of the cities, bridges and waterways. An impressive banyon tree at the base of the lighthouse is attractive! The museum contains an impressive collection from the Seminoles in particular the trade beads. Pack a picnic lunch and spend the day, exploring the early tenant's house, - fishing, boat -watching or reading the names of the red brick walkway!

By GreenMeanLV |

Climbed up to the lighthouse. It’s 105 steps to the top. Plus additional 30 steps to get to the lighthouse base. Tickets were $12 for adults and $10 for seniors. Plenty of parking. Great views of the Jupiter Inlet from the top. The stairs are narrow but they do have handrails. Great fun for the whole family

By Amy K |

Loved going up in the Lighthouse. Spiral Staircase with about 100 steps. Great views and helpful staff. Historical info in the museum was fascinating. Highly recommend

By Becky G |

We always enjoy lighthouses and this one was great as well. It was so pretty on the water, the museum is very informative, there was a huge and gorgeous banyon tree, and information about the Semiole tribe that lived in the area. Worth you time if you enjoy lighthouses! We spent around 3 hours there and enjoyed it very much.

By saanders019 |

If you can handle the stairs the view and history of the lighthouse is absolutely worth it. Also on property are a museum and older buildings to tour.

By Calimero27 |

Very educational and fun! The view from the lighthouse is great when you get up there! Good walking shoes are a must!

By geeman52 |

We went there recently and had a great time. The lighthouse is one of the nicest in the country. The volunteers that explain the history of the lighthouse and Jupiter Inlet in general are excellent. It’s an iconic site for Jupiter. Highly recommended.

By lakeozonia |

Take a few hours and experience the whole park around the lighthouse. The old Florida cottage has displays of the regions history and puts the purpose of the lighthouse into perspective. Also spend some time under the huge Banyan trees that are actually not Banyan trees. After your climb up the lighthouse steps visit the old homestead for a glimpse of old Florida’s daily life.

By SakuraG |

We walked around here on a cool morning and took the tour. Such a pleasant experience and quite beautiful

By Taylor Engel | South FL Realtor |

Hooked to the top of the re lighthouse. The views are absolutely incredible from the top and well worth the walk up the stairs case. Lots of history and places to learn about the history and building of the light house.

By Roys6484 |

We only stopped for a short visit, due to time constraints but would not hesitate to recommend the inlet lighthouse and museum for anyone wishing a great afternoon stop. Parking was free, the grounds excellent and although we did not climb the lighthouse - too many steps for us - it is a great historical monument.

By crazykathyp |

Such a piece of history and a great place to visit. Not only do they have a museum and gift shop but you also can sit down by the water and watch the boats go by as well as climb the lighthouse on a tour. A must do if in Jupoiter!

By theoljohnnyboy |

We stopped in for a visit and to climb the lighthouse. The grounds are beautiful and the staff is very friendly. The cost of entry for the grounds is $12 per person. Unfortunately due to gusting winds the tower was closed to climbing on the day of our visit so be aware that that is a possibility.

By SavantIII_11 |

Who does not love a Lighthouse?

Jupiter Light is the icon best associated with Jupiter.

Travel Tip:
Take the tour.

The Jupiter Lighthouse park is a neat family or couples visit, and do consider a picnic.

This is an active Coast Guard Station.

Travel Tip:
Drive two miles north to a classic Atlantic Ocean shell shop.

By John L |

considering the museum did not have much. but to be fair ,,, this is Florida,,,break out the wallet.

By Nick Byrd |

My partner and I enjoyed the tour and the museum. The tour guide was informative and the views from the lighthouse were spectacular!

By Deb1028 |

The lighthouse is just beautifully preserved and the grounds are wonderfully taken care of. If you come at a off time for a timed tour they have an app that you can use and het yourself around. Very neat idea! There is also a museum and a wonderful gift shop.

Construction was 1860 and has a first order fresnel lens. There are 105 steps to the top, and an incredible view! A must stop in Jupiter!!!

By Michele F |

12 dollars and a great view!! 105 spiral steps to the top!! It is a "stress test" for some but there are landings to "rest" if you need to. The workers that work they are fabulous and the history/museums are awesome also!! Higjhly recommend!!

By 195508Anonymous |

We visited the Jupiter Inlet LIghthouse & Museum after seeing the lighthouse from across the water at the various restaurants nearby. The ticket includes access to a very nice museum that gives historical perspective dating to the 1600's, a guided tour of the lighthouse along a beautifully landscaped path, a trip to the top of the lighthouse where another guide is available to answer questions and finally a tour of a home typical of a farm in the area at the turn of the 20th century. There is also a nice gift shop. Our tour guide seemed to have limited information about the site but was a very pleasant man. All in all we enjoyed ourselves.

By Chris F |

We love Jupiter so decided to stop by this site on the way through. Perfect day! Sunny and breezy. Love the history behind this property and the ficus trees and the landing below the lighthouse would be a perfect setting for a wedding. Just gorgeous!

By Northern_Traveler00 |

Visited the lighthouse yesterday on a beautiful day, such a great visit! Tons of volunteers with lots of info, great exhibits on the history of the area and the lighthouse, and spectacular views.

By Kat S |

Beaitiful spot on the river. Gorgeous views and a cool lighthouse. Tour is ok but would enjoy the visit more of you had more freedom to roam instead of waiting with the "herd". It would also be good if the story told by the guide matched the story on the light house website! We don't know if the big tree is a native banyan or not!

By Jim H |

This is a "must-see" location. It's a historic lighthouse that has been in operation for over 100 years and is still in operation today. You need to allow at least 1 hour for the tour - they estimate that the actual tour is 45-60 minutes. The tour is a walking and climbing tour (the climbing part is optional but is a highlight of the tour). The actual tour involves about a 1/2 mile of walking and then the climb to the top of the lighthouse.

There are 34 steps up to the base of the lighthouse and then there are 105 steps to top of the lighthouse. When climbing the stairs inside the lighthouse, there are 3 "landings" where you can stop and catch your breath. The views from each landing are good but the views from the top are fantastic.

After touring the lighthouse, there is an old house to tour and back at the main building there is a small but really nice museum.

I highly recommend this attraction as a must-see location.

By GuyEWood |

Wonderful grounds and location.

Our biggest bummer was that they have limited the museum hours so we missed that part of the facility.

Still, our local friends who were with us assured us that this is a great tour stop so we'll return when the hours are extended again.

That said, even with the facility closed, we were able to walk around the grounds and read a bit about the history of the location.

It's worth a stop.

Onward!

By jambagroov |

We have taken the walk through history, climbed the lighthouse with an amazing view, browsed through the museum, and went on the Jupiter trolley tour. So much information and history about this place! Every visit we enjoyed what we saw and learned from the people who run it!

By reise3 |

1860 lighthouse - 34 steps to the base & 105 steps to the top. Small groups were allowed up at one time. There's a knowledgeable, friendly lighthouse docent at the top to answer questions, etc. Great view. We could see the West Palm Beach skyline in the distance & bull sharks in the water below. Admission is $12 for adults & $6 for children ages 6 - 18. Take time to enjoy the view from the shoreline pier as well.

By j w |

The walk up the lighthouse was a bit hard on my wife's knees. If you have a great fear of heights, get winded easily, pass on the lighthouse itself. The park is still great fun

By Grateful4living |

Loved the tour, the narrated history of Jupiter and the Native Indians in the area. The view from the lighthouse is unbelievable/priceless! The museum also brings everything together as you can see some of the items spoken about during the tour!

By taylorsatte |

This is a beautifully maintained property. They have a small museum and it is nice to just walk the grounds and look at the scenery while you wait to walk up. The walk up was not too bad. The views from the top were worth it. I really enjoyed my trip here.

By scott1102 |

A little exercise and some interesting history at the beautiful well maintained historical site and museum. Bring the kids or serene spot for us seniors. Beautiful views of harbor and the boats.

By sgreskoviak |

Climb was difficult, but once you get to the top, what a view of the inlet and ocean!! Near by are great restaurants to relax afterwords and eat. The little gift shop was cute, and we picked up a few items. There is even a little shore close by 😊

By Whenwetravelto |

This place has guided history tours. The best part is the view from the lighthouse, so gorgeous and romantic.

By PhoenixCath |

At $12 a head even to get within 100 yards of the place is ridiculous! I can see if you want to go inside, but just to LOOK at it? That's really greedy. A family of 4 that can't afford $48 wouldn't even be permitted to get close to the lighthouse just to See it or take a photo, they'd be turned away. I'm sorry but that straight up sucks! And they're not even nice about it. The lighthouse is nothing special, quite plain looking. The view from up top is nice, but you could see that from the window of any condo in the area. The tiny gift shop has some cute things for kids though. Spend your money elsewhere, this "attraction" and it's unwelcoming caretakers are not worth it!

By Odyssey205412 |

Lighthouse is great but why a guided tour? We did not have the time nor, quite honestly, want to spend the time on a gorgeous day with a guided tour of a lighthouse... have been to many- just wanted a climb and a view... denied...

By avenger20 |

Great place great climb and the weather was great the tour guide was very informative. The views are fabulous.

By UFPAGator |

Climbed the lighthouse today with some family visiting town. The views from the top were gorgeous. Lighthouse is very well maintained land and beautifully preserved. Will be back for sure.

By Alison M |

Came to see the memorial brick for my brother in law
Beautiful place to visit
Will visits every time we are in Jupiter

By SoraciSauce |

Highly recommend a visit! The views are spectacular. You have to climb 105 steps so be prepared, they are steep, tight and circular. The Bunyan tree at the base is the most spectacular tree I have ever seen!

By 50yearOldGirlScout |

Go early because it get hot. Lots of parking. Excellent views all around. Museum has great information. Plenty of places to picnic. Guides are knowledgeable about other things in the area.

By ocmdjim |

Whether seen there or at night you have to be taken back by this beautiful working lighthouse! The museum is full of many interesting and historical items ! The tour is also great! Although red in the day it appears white at night with the lighting on it! Best seen at night from the three restaurants across the inter coastal waterway from it! Just awesome!!!

By klgwhite |

This is a nice lighthouse and the staff was very friendly. Be warned though, that if there is lightning in the area, they will close everything and escort you off the property. They did offer a refund, which we very much appreciated, since we didn't even get to climb the lighthouse or walk the grounds before they shut it down.

By vpaylor |

This was our 5th lighthouse that we’ve toured and it didn’t disappoint. We’ll maintained and knowledgeable staff makes it a very worthwhile visit. Due to the rain we didn’t get to check out the grounds like we wanted to but the museum while small was still very informative. Highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area.

By Valerie1124 |

Very much enjoyed the view and helpful staff at the lighthouse. The volunteer staff at the top pointed out landmarks and even recommended a place to eat lunch!

By brianpZ657GT |

Walked around the park and climbed up the lighthouse. The view was excellent looking across the Island and into the Ocean,

By funtimefamily12 |

The part of the lighthouse we could see was nice. But it’s military and you should call ahead to see when you can get a tour.

By nowpacking |

Nice parking lot and walk to lighthouse. You buy the tickets in the gift shop before you enter. The staff tried to time the going up and down to avoid crowding on the stairs.
Beautiful views but not amazing.
The area around the lighthouse is beautifully landscaped. There is a trail down to a dock that probably had a nice view but we skipped it due to rain.

By BRIAN RICH |

The Jupiter Lighthouse is a working Lighthouse that also includes a very nice museum adjacent. If you climb to the top you will see a great panorama of the entire Jupiter Inlet, the Intercoastal Waterway and out to sea as well. Good family activity. The climb is a bit strenuous.

By Amber M |

We went for the sunset tour. There are gorgeous views of the Jupiter Inlet from the top. The grounds are beautiful and full of native plants. The tour included a history of the lighthouse and grounds and plenty of photo opportunities. The staff was wonderful, knowledgeable, and friendly. The gift shop has some really interesting books about the area. Very nice experience!

By rachels81 |

The was the first time I visited a lighthouse and what a great experience! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The crowd was small the time I visited. They let us stay at the top of the lighthouse for a while which was very nice. I recommend visiting this lighthouse if you are visiting Jupiter.

By Taylor200 |

This was $12 person but lowers for vets, seniors and kids. It is worth every dollar. The view up top is awesome. You can see the inlet meeting the ocean and the surrounding homes, boats etc. There is a historic house on site from the 1890’s. All of the tour guides were very friendly.

By Miles Archer |

Great view from this historic lighthouse which dates back to the 1800s. Masks required. Worth the price of admission. Check out the museum too.

By Janet B |

The museum was really nice. We took the guided tour up to the lighthouse. It was well worth it! The view from the top is great! Be aware they close the lighthouse for storms!

By RS W |

Make the climb and you will be rewarded with one of the best views Jupiter has to offer and you will learn a lot of history for the bargain!

By Buddyvelcro |

Visited in June and it was simply amazing. The staff that works here really cares about the history and the view from the top is amazing.

By bsc9598 |

Beautiful grounds to walk around. Staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely be back!!

By Bob East |

What a great way to see the Floridian lifestyle. Pioneers came by boat here and so did cargo. The lighthouse helped them find there way. You climb the lighthouse with about 105 steps and they’re kinda steep and not a good idea for people not in great shape. There is a tool house and a separate museum of artifacts. You can see the entire ground of about 65 acres from the top of the lighthouse including light keepers houses. It is a great view of the Jupiter inlet and marinas nearby.

By Julie R |

Learned alot, beautiful view, better be ready for a difficult climb. I am fairly fit and got winded. Lovely museum and garden

By Mimikids |

My husband and I visited the Lighthouse and museum. The museum is very well done, and interesting. The lighthouse tour guide was well informed of the history of the lighthouse and and Jupiter area. The grounds have many beautiful plants and trees. The tour is for kids and adults. You can walk up the stairs to the top but not required to go on the tour.

By jeff381 |

You can see it from a distance, but a little tricky to find the road since it is a very quick turn right after the light. We were not able to tour the actual lighthouse because of high winds the day we were there, so we toured the museum. The museum is very interesting and quite a history lesson of the area and the treasure coast. Great place even on a rainy day.

By Lilred |

This is not the first time staying in Jupiter, but the first time visiting the lighthouse. We wen in the morning and there was a nice breeze. The climb was doable for two seniors in their 60’s. We enjoyed the beautiful view on top. The museums below are worth a look. Here’s a tip, if you go to the lighthouse early wear your beach attire. Then drive to blowing rock and spend some time at the beach

By Dudeinmotion |

From the view the to interesting information about the lighthouse and surrounding community this is a great stop for an hour or so after a day at the beach.

By scott r |

Once again this is a solid 3.5 'good' without the 'very' qualifier, but it's a very nice diversion, and I've done most of South FL's attractions. Communicative, friendly staff is really what makes it, and the grounds are pretty with a large banyan taking pride of place. Not a huge lighthouse, views are still nice and the crowd is light enough to engage the docent beyond the spiel. On the ground you can have a longer conversation, take a look at the 'HoneyFitz' across the way (local multi-millionaire I gather) and explore some history of the lighthouse itself in an adjacent building. At the main structure there is a small general museum of the area and its history. Not grand, but sympathetic and nicely done for something that is locally funded.

By Elizabeth O |

If you are near Southeastern Florida, the Jupiter lighthouse is definitely one of the best experiences you could have. The Jupiter Lighthouse information and the 360 degree views from the top newly restored and painted, is breathtaking and really worth ones time. Tour guides are full of information not on just the lighthouse history but Jupiter/Jupiter Island-Tequesta, Juno, North
Palm Beach, Singer Island Areas. Children must be a certain height to be allowed to climb to the top so check
with the office for your hours and height requirement.
At times sunset tours are available and spectacular providing no rain in the forecast. Enjoy!!!!!

By Peggy2317 |

We had a good time here. It's always interesting to see things from a high level; gives you a different perspective on how large the area is. I would go to this again.

By Allison B |

If you are in Jupiter you must visit the iconic Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. Climbing to the top is so worth the beautiful views you see!

By Wendy D |

Really enjoyed a day trip to the lighthouse. The view from the top was impressive. Need to go with the tour guide to get the most out of the history of the area.

By FLGIRL |

Due to the bridge being rebuilt that is right by the lighthouse, the museum wasn’t available for us to see. They had to move everything out and place into storage as the driving of the pilings vibrated the building too much. The gift shop (also where you pay to go on the grounds and up the lighthouse if you so desire) was in a portable building with restrooms that were also portable. The lighthouse view was quite lovely after climbing up the 105 stairs. The breeze helps cool you down too. Seniors get a discount. There is an individual at the top to answer any questions and one at the bottom as well. We enjoyed it.

By thefloridadane |

Went as a second date with my now girlfriend. We had a sweet guide and an interesting couple of hours.

By BeeDeeBee |

So glad we took the time out of our busy trip to tour this lighthouse and the grounds. So much history here and well taken care of. The gift shop and museum is a must see as well and comes with the cost of the lighthouse tour.

By Paul C |

My girlfriend climbed the lighthouse and loved it. She loved the view. She learned much about the history of the lighthouse

By garzia_123 |

Enjoyed the lighthouse, views from the top were wonderful. Sat on the grass and there was a few string players practicing. The view of the boats going by was great. We had a truly enjoyable day.

By ebloch523 |

Jupiter Lighthouse is right next to the Jupiter Inlet. As well as learning about the lighthouse and climbing the 139 steps to the top, you can watch all of the water activities going on right next to this location. We went on a beautiful sunny day and enjoyed the gorgeous banyon trees as well as all of the other natural beauty in the area.

By Dawn Marie |

This is a great location to see beautiful Jupiter, the intracoastal waterway and ocean from the top of the lighthouse. Bring your camera and get ready to take some amazing photos and videos. The waterways are an amazing variations of blue and clear. This site has historical significance (Native American, WWII and pioneer) and the museum is great for learning local history. This historic landmark takes about 2 hours to fully explore. You have to buy the tour to actually go up the lighthouse but the cost is about $10-12 and worth it for the views of the waters. This is a top pick of mine to suggest for locals and tourists. I’ve known many of couples who have gotten married at the base of the lighthouse on the shaded deck area of the huge Banyan tree. Sometimes they have yoga classes there as well.

By David W |

Been coming to West Palm since the 1960's. Grandmother used to take us to Debois Park for swimming and picnic and always saw the lighthouse. Was great to finally get to climb up. The climb and musuem is well worth the $12. Great info on history of lighthouse and nice gift shop. Staff docents were very nice. This is a must do if in the area. Go early while the weather is cooler and before a crowd forms so you can quickly get up the lighthouse.

By kellygr |

Very interested experience learning about all the history! I went with my husband and son (9) and we all really enjoyed it!

By waverlywaver |

I read the literature before going, and it sounded like there were expansive gardens and places to walk. But other then some shrubs, not really much of a garden. And you can't really walk anywhere--it's all off limits. Very small footprint where we were allowed. Basically, one path to the lighthouse and back. To make sure you don't enjoy the inlet next to the museum, there is not a single bench or chair on the property facing the water (okay, a couple chairs on the porch of the museum I think? But not the same.) The museum is sweet? But we're talking 15 minutes tops. I picked a beautiful day because i thought I would be taking a beautiful walk. So i was very disappointed in my visit.

By Mon Mon |

My family enjoyed visiting this fun exhibit after our trip from the beach. The price to enter the lighthouse and see the beautiful attraction was well worth it. The employees were super kind and very sweet. I'll never forget Tom, the cashier at the gift shop. He was such a wonderful person to talk with about the museum. Even when there was a whole line ahead of him, he kept his calm and collective self and took all of them with an optimistic attitude. The employees instructed us clearly on how to climb the lighthouse safely, and we were able to see the fantastic view. The area was beautiful and well-kept.

By goety911 |

This is one of the nicest lighthouses we have visited. It is well kept, the museums are informative and it has a great view. Be prepared to walk a bit.

By Road_Warrior32034 |

This was our second visit to the great light. There are very nice guided tours of the lighthouse and 1982 Tindall House included in the $12 adult ($10 senior, military) entry fee to the secure lighthouse tract. Stay with your tour group as you will can not exit the secure area without someone to unlock the security gate for you. A restrictive agreement between the US Coast Guard and the lighthouse organization restrict visitors to the two structures and the connecting pathways, leaving a vast amount of the large tract inaccessible to the public.

The 108’ Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse was erected on the top of a 48’ bluff high above the confluence of the Loxahatchee and Indian Rivers, emitted it’s light at 146’ above the surround landscape. It is actually an inner tower built within an outer tower. Each tower is two bricks thick. The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse was first placed into service on July 10, 1860. To reach the observation platform, a visitor must climb the 35 steps up the mound and then the 105 cast iron steps of the circular staircase in the center of the lighthouse. There are a couple of step-outs with an observation window in case a climber needs to catch their breath before proceeding up the stairs. The tour allows all lighthouse climbers to ascend and descend as a group because the staircase is basically only one person wide. You are allowed about 15 minutes at the top to talk to the docent who can provide details about the surrounding area, the first order Fresnel Lens (most powerful), the rotating lens carousel and the 1000 watt bulb that can be seen for 24 miles. Each lighthouse has a unique flash sequence and distinctive side color.

Along the return path from the lighthouse, visitors are allowed to tour the 1892 Tindall Pioneer Homestead where a family of 10 lived. The homestead and it’s replica kitchen building give a glimpse into early life along the Loxahatchee for brave pioneering families.

Back at the welcome center building, we entered the museum and enjoyed the displays and the informative short movie. In all, we had a docent for our walk on the pathway, one at the top of the lighthouse, another in the Tindall House and another in the museum. All docents were engaging and knowledgeable.

If you are looking for something to occupy a couple of hours in the Juniper Inlet area, you should check this out.

By artskibeach |

An interesting hour or so. The grounds are dominated by a huge tree, which looks like a banyan tree, but is not. Bring the kids and enjoy the grounds. The lighthouse has 105 steps, with landings every so often, so it’s not a totally strenuous climb, but be aware that it is tall! The view from the top is fantastic.

By Lbs58 |

If you are into history this is a place to spend a couple of hours. Museums well done and grounds are lovely. Lighthouse offers good view of Jupiter. Guides are helpful and interested.

By Giacomo |

Beautiful Lighthouse run by a non-profit association that allows the visit both alone and accompanied by guides.
The view from the tower is fantastic.
Nice park and very kind staff.
It really deserves a stop of at least 1.5 hours.

By Andrew |

Must do when visiting Jupiter. There is alot of history in the Jupiter/Tequesta area. The small museum is interesting for those that like to know. The highlight of course is the viewing platform at the top of the Lighthouse with the funhouse spiral stairway. The view of the Jupiter Inlet and the waterway heading north to Jupiter Island is spectacular. Wait for a sunny blue sky day and spend an hour its worth doing. DIY takes less time but if you want the full details take the tour. After you are done head to the other side of the inlet to have a beer and some fish tacos at the Square Grouper and enjoy the view of the lighthouse.

By AMAC1231 |

You will enjoy the tour and the museum. Make sure to call for schedule if not you will not be able to tour up the Lighthouse and only be able to visit museum. Once you get to the top you’ll be able to see the Jupiter Outlet and the inter coastal waters. Awesome views! The stairs to go up are winding and you should be in good health in order to go up. If you are in a wheelchair you will not be able to go up because it’s not supported due to the narrow winding stairs, but it’s ok because you can visit the museum and discover the history of this beautiful red lighthouse and how many times the lights and glass have to be cleaned. Have fun and wear comfortable shoes. Once your done touring you can walk right down to the beach area and relax next to the beautiful turquoise water.

By Jo-Anne G |

This is a beautifully maintained lighthouse. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The view from the top is wonderful. It was just a short walk from the parking area. The grounds have other historic buildings that were air conditioned and the small museum was informative. I’m looking forward to coming back.

By yolanda fernandez |

The museum is not that big but have a lot of Florida history. History about the Indians and some other facts about Florida. There’s a nice view from the top of the lighthouse . Make sure to get your certificate saying that you survive the climb and it’s free. It’s not to expensive , it’s the average price for museum.

By Dennis P |

Went there on a beautiful Tuesday morning with our local camera club. Beautiful November sunny day in South Florida. I was the only one that claimed the 105 steps to the top. Great views from the top and a great visit I highly recommend it

By Jeanine J |

This is a beautiful lighthouse. We have been here several times over the years. The grounds are filled with gorgeous trees and the tours are always fun and informative. The views are spectacular at the top of the lighthouse! Go enjoy!

By Beachcat19 |

You’ll enjoy strolling around the grounds while learning about the early native inhabitants and the lighthouse keepers.
The spectacular views from atop the lighthouse make the trip up the stairs worthwhile. Plus, you’ll earn a certificate if you make all 105 steps!
Gift shop had lots of fun items from 4Ocean bracelets to funky socks. You’ll also find t-shirts and the like.
Staff is friendly, knowledgeable—and you’ll leave there knowing more about lovely Jupiter than when you arrived.

By Isabel F |

We love to chase lighthouses and this is a beautiful place with a great museum. You can climb up to the top of the lighthouse after a lovely short walk from the museum to the lighthouse. Teenagers love to go to the top but I did see some young children who were not permitted to go there must be an age limit. You can see the museum and visit the lighthouse and walk all the grounds in about an hour and a half or less.

Excellent history museum attached to the gift shop. There's a little paved path as you enter the lighthouse grounds that has the light keepers house, a covered hut, a shell rock path leading to the waters edge where you can get a great photo of the lighthouse, and a small but informed history building.

FYI, as you climb the lighthouse the steps are circular and open on the right side. There is a circular handrail on the left side as you climb to the top.

GREAT staff and amazing volunteers. I hadn't been there in years, and I'm not sure I waited so long! There's quite a bit of construction going on currently, but it was still worth the time and effort. 34 steps to the base. 105 stairs to reach the top. Amazing volunteers provided information along the way. Wish we had the time 45 minutes to 1.5 hours for the tour, maybe next time. We even enjoyed the gift shop. Everyone was so friendly and informative. Will be back soon.

The place offers a lot. Multiple museum buildings and a great view from the top of the light house! Gift shop has many neat and cute items! I took friends from out of town and will return with my parents!

By Sharon B |

Arrived early afternoon on a Wednesday and not more than 20 people were there. After buying a ticket, walked down the path to the lighthouse. My husband ascended to the top (not as high as some lighthouses) and said the views were very nice from above. There was a shady area with benches set up for talks and a volunteer was there to answer questions, as well as a volunteer in the keeper's cottage. Nice gift shop, too. The museum is currently closed due to pilings being placed nearby, which created noise pollution and you could feel the vibrations in the gift shop. This may continue another year or two we were told. This lighthouse is at the mouth of an inlet leading into the sea.

The Jupiter Lighthouse & Museum is a must see and must do when in Jupiter Florida. Take the tour to the top.

By Philip P |

Certainly unique by Florida standards, but not by USA standards. The place is well kept and obviously well supported. We thought the admission price was too high compared to other similar attractions elsewhere in the US.

By DLDuncan |

Grew up in the area and I love this lighthouse and often visit when back home. The lighthouse and grounds are lovely and you should take the time to climb to the top for a gorgeous view and to see the beautiful lens. Very much worth your time.

By Kellye J |

I really enjoyed this stop-it was easy to get to and did not cost anything. It does not take a lot of time to do either. View of harbor is great and loved feeling the breezes off the water. Also, if you have a card for access to military exchanges, there is a Coast Guard Exchange right next to it.

By mcnallyhouse |

Don’t expect to spend much time up top to enjoy the view. Staff member there to give overview of what you are seeing and then sends you down. Felt rushed after spending the entry fee to make the climb. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Would have enjoyed time to take some pictures.

By Glendawpb |

Recently explored this lighthouse and did the climb to the top. The view was beautiful and the breeze was welcoming. The grounds are beautiful and there are several massive banyan trees near the lighthouse.
Also on site is the Tindall Pioneer Homestead which was built in 1892. A view of life from yesteryear and the simplicity of living.
A small area depicting plants grown during that era.
Some walking paths were restricted due to construction. Parking was plentiful. There is a gift shop to purchase items to commemorate your visit.
An enjoyable way to spend a few hours.

By RUNixon77 |

Well worth a visit, make sure and get your water first from the gift shop as you will need it when you get to the top and see the spectacular views

By Carly M |

Our goal in visiting the area was to see the lighthouse and we were glad we did. It was a very nice lighthouse to climb and the docents were all very nice. It was windy that day but the air current was checked and it was decided that it was safe to climb. The docents were all very nice and knowledgeable. The World War 11 Living quarters was informative and the gift shop was nice. Only thing that I missed in the souvenir shot was being able to buy a lighthouse figurine.

Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum
Pretty neat location and lighthouse.
Brief visit on our recent south Florida vacation.

By Diverdad1 |

You must take a guided tour to visit the lighthouse. Our guide Dan was excellent. You'll learn some history of the area and particularly the lighthouse, which was designed by Gettysburg hero General George Meade. The inlet in Jupiter is treacherous, and there were many shipwrecks both before and after installation of the lighthouse. There are two small museums on site - one at the visitors center where you purchase your ticket, the other near the lighthouse. The latter is part of the tour, so you can visit both. You'll also visit a restored Cracker House (early settler) and learn about the difficulties of pineapple farming. The views from the top of the lighthouse are great. It's about 200 steps to the top.

By 143pattiw |

Great view of the area - Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Don't be afraid of the steps - easy climb for senior ladies!

By 6fred_the_traveller |

Little know facts about the history of the lighthouse and the people and times involved in its development and a great view of the surrounding area if you can handle the steps to the top of the lighthouse. Also, very little known history and treatment of the native Americans who inhabited the area and the naming of the surrounding towns.

By Bonnie L |

Plan to spend 1.5-2 hours here. The museum is small but full of information and fun to look around. The guided lighthouse trip is very informative. You feel like you are experiencing a little history when you take this tour. Of course the main attraction is climbing the steps to the lighthouse and overlooking the surrounding terrain. You can see the ocean, the river and the estuary. There are bridges, roads, rivers and of course the mansions. We have some great photos with an incredible backdrop. Oh, the Banyon tree is worth a look as well. It sprawls near the entrance to the lighthouse and looks like a tree fort is just waiting to be made in its outstretched branches. Another great photo opportunity.

By AZ-LGE |

The museum and lighthouse are very interesting. They plan well by limiting the number of people who can climb to top. Excellent views or the surrounding waterways.

By Lukafio |

The grounds are well kept and the staff very friendly. You can hear their smiles behind their masks. Walk the trails and enjoy the historical notes. Then climb the 100+ steps to take in a view that is a must to experience. Pictures do not do it justice.

I guess I should start with a small back story - we originally visited in November of 2023 as a vacation for my now husband and I. Frank and another gentleman were absolutely amazing and gave us so much info about the lighthouse and that they do WEDDINGS here on the weekends.

Flashforward to February 2025 - we tied the knot here at Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. Not only was the staff more than accommodating (this was a destination wedding for us, so everything was coordinated via email), but they made the day absolutely perfect. The lighthouse and the grounds itself are truly amazing, but the staff are the cherries on top (or sprinkles if you don't like cherries).

Make this a visit if you are in the area, and if you are getting married, make this one of the contenders for a place to hold the ceremony, you won't regret it.

By liz m |

Set in a beautiful park like area this landmark stands majestic. There are a fair few stairs to climb but it's well worth it for the amazing view when u get to the top.

By istrainer1 |

The lighthouse itself is beautiful but out experience was less than that. Staff was having an off day for some reason they were those with most rushing the limited amount of people in and out not really wanting to answer questions. Gift shop is way and I truly mean way over priced

By andywE7737LW |

This is one of the best lighthouses I've seen. You can climb up for a 360' view of Jupiter inlet. Their is a comprehensive history of the lighthouse and the early Florida residents who operated it. The docents who do tours obviously love their landmark..

By Peggy E |

While in Florida we decided to visit the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum. The challenge was to climb to the top. There are 34 stairs up to the lighthouse and another 105 inside from bottom to top. As seniors we were pleased that it wasn’t as hard as we expected It might be.

The staff greeting guests are friendly and knowledgeable. There is tiered pricing from small children to seniors. There are also discount coupons available in local travel guides. The price is very reasonable without these.

We enjoyed the meandering walk up to the lighthouse. We also went through the keepers house which is now a museum. There is also a museum which is quite interesting for history buffs like myself. This is the first building, where you pay admittance.

The grounds all around the lighthouse are very well maintained. The oldest, largest tree of its kind in Florida is here. I wish I could remember the name. I have included a picture.

We absolutely enjoyed our visit.

By corollaclub98 |

You get to climb to the top and walk around the place - There is a amazing tree that is connected right in front of the lighthouse . The view from the top is amazing and your visit there is not long so plan your day . Across the street is a amazing diner called the lighthouse diner .

By DianeG2015 |

Went on the guided tour which is about 45 min. and full of historical facts. It ends at the lighthouse where there are 105 steps up to the top. Cost is $12 or $10 over 60 and free if your a veteran. Be sure to go to museum next to gift shop for more history on seminole indians. We had a beautiful day and could see for miles.

By johnmccasey1946 |

I'm not really into antiques but my wife is she had a great time and so did I seeing her so intrigued and enjoying herself was a great day.

By TwoPynts |

I'm a lighthouse fanatic and try to visit any that may be in an area I'm staying. The Jupiter Lighthouse is one of only 16 lighthouses in America with a working first-order Fresnel lens, the brightest and best. It is worth climbing the 105 stairs to get a peek that this bit of history as the method of manufacturing them died with the creator.

Located on the grounds of a recently decommissioned Coast Guard station, the lighthouse has a long and storied history. You can learn a lot about it and the lore of the area in the museum that is housed in the same (former military) building as the extensive gift shop. There is a very informative display housed in the Keepers workshop at the base of the hill as well.

All of the staff on the premises was friendly, helpful and knowledgable. After walking up to the base of the lighthouse, you may have to wait until a previous party exits as there is limited space and the stairs are not made for traffic going both ways. Once up at the top, you have about 15 minutes before you need to head back down again. That can be more challenging than the actual climb up, but is certainly less taxing.

If you're in the Jupiter Beach area and have any interest, I highly recommend visiting this local attraction. Admission for adults is $12 and the panoramic view makes it all worth it.

Our last day we had some free time so we checked out Jupiter lighthouse. The little museum was full of info about the history of the area, from the natives to WW II. The short walk to the lighthouse was along the water. We chose not to climb the lighthouse although it looked charming.

By WGEagle |

Of course you can see it from afar. and worth the drive over, The museum is intresting and the grounds are beautiful. Everyone gave us information on who what where and it was a nice break from traffic and to sit on porch and watch the boats travel in inlet.

By David D |

The complex and grounds are well kept and it is very cool to see something that is so rich in history. Climbing to the top can be a little daunting for those that have a fear of heights, but the views are incredible.

The hours run from 10 to 5 (with the last admission at 4pm)...$12 to gain access, and there are discounts for seniors, veterans and children.

By Doug M |

Very nice, small but informative museum. The lighthouse was cool. Very reasonably priced. Not crowded.

By Ashley W |

Go early! We went right when it opened and we were the first people to the lighthouse. Only small groups can go up, and they have to wait until the group comes down. My youngest was too short, she was not allowed to go to the top of the lighthouse, so check before you go if you have smaller kids. The staff was very nice!

By John F |

This was absolutely amazing. Learned lots about the history of the lighthouse and took in an amazing view of the inlet from the top lighthouse viewing deck. A true gem.

By Tiffany R |

If you are in the Jupiter area, take a couple of hours and tour the lighthouse and museum. A lot of history here!!! I am scared of heights and still did the lighthouse climb - worth it!!!

There is a nice place to take your lawn chair and watch the boats by the main museum area.

By tiffanydyoung |

We went during the middle of the week and there were not a lot of people so we walked right up. The view is beautiful and we did a few walking paths, but it was so hot we had to go back to the car. Staff was very nice and even helped my littlest be more comfortable with going down the stairs.

By Michael A |

This is a beautiful lighthouse. Well preserved. It is surrounded by a small park and preserve with some small houses showing how people lived in their time. The docents do a good job. The views from the lighthouse are spectacular. Its about a 100 step climb. Plus the lighthouse is on a pretty high hill so there's a bit of a climb up to the lighthouse. Lots of plants and flowers as well.

By Steve M |

What a wonderful spot to review history and then capture panoramic pictures of beautiful boats on the bluest water ever. The landscape and trees were fantastic and unique. Perfect for a photographer.

By Matt Roelandts |

The lighthouse is only 105 steps with a 34 stair entrance. They were decorated for Christmas which was nice. Staff is friendly. Doesn’t quite have the set up like St. Augustine, making me believe that the Jupiter property is a little over-priced.

By BigoBoca |

This structure looks better from afar than up close. Every time I’ve tried to enter it feels like it’s closed for repair.

By Lyric Clearwater |

Right on the edge of town, good walkways, a lot of shaded areas. Even if you don’t climb the lighthouse steps, the air conditioned museum is worth the visit. Nice little gift shop too.

By Rob Bernard |

A great piece of living history! Jupiter lighthouse is one of the very few lighthouses remaining and operational in the country.

By Kenmarsam |

I love lighthouses and this lighthouse is no exception. The view from the top is spectacular. The history of the lighthouse is well depicted and documented. The gift shop has lots to choose from. Unfortunately we ran out of time to go through the museum. You will need more than an hour to go up in the lighthouse and see all the displays.

By Fish_Swim_Play |

Amazing views and quality historical information. If you can manage the steps, the view on a good day is brilliant.

By DebbyLinen |

Beautiful lighthouse with fabulous sites in four different directions until you get to the top and then you can see everything when you walk completely around and the history in the museum is so educational, but not an all day visit. You can see everything in a couple hours. I would highly recommend.

By Nelson T |

The small museum has very interesting displays that tell about the native Americans who lived in the area as well as the history of the Jupiter area after Europeans arrived. Take the time to visit it prior to going to the lighthouse. The lighthouse itself is one of the dominant landmarks of Jupiter and has an interesting history itself. You will have the opportunity to climb to the top if you wish. It is really not as difficult as it looks and there are landings at intervals where you can catch your breath. And if you make it you will be awarded a certificate suitable for framing. Senior rates are available.

By rwilks100 |

While traveling from Orlando to Miami with our 4 children agex 8-17 we decided to stop off somewhere. We found a leaflet for this lighthouse so stopped to take a look. It was worth it. We sat near the water first for some sanwiches watching pelicans and heron. Then we were lucky enough to catch a tour. The lighthouse was beautifully maintained and the views amazing. The tour was very interesting and we loved the huge tree in the grounds. We even got shown banana and pineapples growing. Well worth a stop.

NIce Views - Wonderful volunteer staff! We appreciated there was plenty of parking and the staff was very informative on what to do first!

By LovesNYC1951 |

If you like lighthouses and maritime history this is a must see. Our guides were a mother and daughter team and they were friendly and knowledgeable. The climb was not bad, 142 steps including the 35 to get from the banyan trees directly into the lighthouse at the base of the 105 stairs. This lighthouse is, narrower than many so if you have a problem with small spaces or tight spiral spaces don't do the climb. The view from the top was spectacular and being so close to an original 1st order Fresnel lens was very special. I would climb Jupiter again.

By Pher Travel |

Had a great experience at the Jupiter Light House. There is a hike up the light house. If you can physically do it please do. The view at the top is amazing. Hiking back to the museum there is much to see. Good history facts and artifacts in the museum.

By Gloria H |

This was my first visit. We visited the museum and Light house. I did not climb the 105 steps to get to the top of the Light house. I only took the stairs to the entrance of the lighthouse. I have a bad knee and was not able to climb the spiral staircase. My son-in-law went all the way up and my daughter and granddaughter went about half way. The museum had many interesting exhibits. The grounds were lovely and there were very pretty water views too.

By harleynana21160 |

Very beautiful. Awesome view all the way around. Can’t wait to see it again. Very friendly staff. Would like to bring our grandkids to see it.

By lee9 |

Bold and red this lighthouse stand out in the horizon and off A1A. Easy parking, friendly staff and a nice gift shop to browse. It you want to climb inside there is a fee for the mandatory tour. Most folks just hang out on the grounds and take pictures.

By Vickie S |

Great sight with beautiful grounds and scenic view. Be prepared to climb 140+ steps if you intend to go to the top. Banyan tree was fabulous!

By romazzino |

Breathtaking in every way, this historic lighthouse and museum are a must see. From the museum to the homes in the park to the epic climb up to the top of the lighthouse...the staff is great at every point. The views from the lighthouse and even from the grounds are spectacular!

By Chris S |

The Jupiter Inlet is in itself a beautiful property. Add in a lighthouse that has been well maintained, pretty grounds, an informative museum and an old home called the Tindall House and Garden which you can only peek into, it is worth going to see. There is also a nice little store associated with the property and the prices are very reasonable. The most interesting fact is that this is the ONLY National Conversation Land east of the Mississippi River.

By cmjea |

Was very beautiful, the only thing that I would say was bad was having to wear a mask up all the flight of stairs to get to the top of the lighthouse. By the the time you got to the top most people would feel like they were going to pass out. Other than that very nice area and one of the only places that we enjoyed in Florida.

By Laurie V |

Slight detour around the bridge construction but it was ok.
Check in at gift shop. Only $10.00 for seniors or military.
The grounds are very nice several buildings to go into.
The lighthouse is beautiful. There is a check in at the bottom of the lighthouse to alert the staff at the top how many people are wanting to climb. They work together to make sure everyone passes safely in the narrow spiral staircase. There are 35 steps to get up to the lighthouse then 105 steps to the top. There are 3 platforms inside placed every 25 steps. View is beautiful at the top. Highly recommend climbing if you can. Even if you can't climb the grounds are great to walk around and explore.

By abqsage |

A very interesting and lovely place to visit! We we had had more time to do the climb, but the lighthouse is very attractive and historic, and we enjoyed our time there. Hope we can come back again another day to spend more time there.

By USMEagleFan |

Very nice little park worth visiting. There was a lot of construction activities going on and it will be really nice when completed. I’m the meantime, it’s still a nice little park to visit with an interesting history. The lighthouse is the center point of the visit. It is very well kept and the staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. Very much enjoyed visiting this site.

By WeBvacations |

We spent several hours poking around this historical sight, enjoying the view(s) and being outdoors. So much history about this settling of this part of the country through modern day. Truly worth a visit. We did climb to the top. If you're claustrophobic, don't recommend it. Not too taxing and there are small areas to stop every 25 steps or so. If you don't go up inside to the top at least climb steps to the outside of the lighthouse and enjoy the view from there. The top is rewarding and recommended, especially on a clear day! You can see for miles.

By NFamily2015 |

I grew up in Jupiter and look forward to visiting every year! This past trip we took family up the lighthouse. The guide was great and the view was spectacular!! I did have to rest twice before getting to the top, but there were benches along the way for us old folks. Worth the walk up and if you go you must do the Museum tour. Such history in Jupiter and didn't realize it until I moved north. I grew up in Paradise!!

By 57Lulu |

Hubby and I bought the tickets and took the climb ($10 for seniors). It is summer so get there early because it is hot during the climbing. They let people up in groups and the subsequent group is held until the previous group has all descended. It's a good thing because there is only a handrail on one side of the stairs. There are small platforms on the side where you can rest if needed every 25 steps or so. We are in our 60's and did not have a problem with the climb. There are about 35 steps to get up to the lighthouse base too. The view at the top is of the river and the ocean. The museums and outbuildings are very well maintained. We felt this activity was worth the money and we learned a lot the importance of the lighthouse.

P.S. There's plenty of feedback on the Internet noting that you have to take the tour to see the lighthouse up close.

By valump78 |

I love coming to this lighthouse, this was my third trip, but only second up the stairs. They only allow a certain amount up at a time to avoid overcrowding and were generous with their time explaining the history and locations we were viewing from both the top as well as below in the shaded waiting area at the bottom. The staff up in the lighthouse and below and the museum shop were college age kids, and were very accommodating and knowledgeable. Collin, Michael and Evan, thank you, I could tell you really enjoy your job!!

As a senior I got a discount but if you are going to be visiting multiple lighthouses in Florida, there is an annual card you can get that gets you in to all of them for about the cost of 3 visits.

By beth ann k |

It's a very nice park and museum and we enjoyed our visit there. A few of the staff were a little short with us but it was a nice visit.

By bjanavice |

My husband and I spent about an hour in the Museum. It was very interesting and informative. Be sure and actually climb to the top of the light house. Amazing views up there.

By John W |

Not a place for kids in my opinion as the admission price is to high. Disappointed as I really thought my kids would enjoy it.

By griffins at the beach |

❤️ The old photographs! Loved reading all the history behind it. Fairly easy climb for a 55+. Rest every 25 steps. Only 105 total. The banyan tree!

By WS Long |

Great stop for history and sightseeing! This lighthouse has been there since 1870. When you climb the stairs to the top, you have a great view of the city of Tequesta, Jupiter, and parts of Palm Beach. On a great clear day you can see the beauty of the ocean and the inlet. The small museum provides a great overview of the Native Americans who lived there before the arrival of European sailing ships and the history the place has to offer.

By Addie S |

Gorgeous views atop the lighthouse! Get to the top, definitely. Well-maintained landscape, light house, and museum. Volunteers around the lighthouse were friendly and knowledgeable about the area's history.

By Keith K |

Myself and girlfriends first Lighthouse experience was amazing. Went to one in Jupiter Florida that I had always seen pictures of most of my life either by yearly calendars or pictures. We were amazed at the beauty of the lighthouse and appreciated the volunteers that work there with there friendliness and eagerness to talk about the grounds. Truly a must see when in the area.
Then after up close and personal we went to eat at Jetty's Restaurant across the water from the Lighthouse for dinner and cocktails. The food and the view was absolutely gorgeous. Weather was beautiful a warm and clear evening watching the water and the lighthouse. I would without a doubt Highly recommend the Jupiter Florida Lighthouse and Jetty's for any occasion.
This was truly the experience of a lifetime.

By foodwinesports |

We really enjoyed visiting the lighthouse. It is apparently a very popular area with the locals. It was quite crowded the day we were there. The water is beautiful and the walking trails were nice and not too long.

By Tabitha B |

We have decided to start exploring Florida lighthouses and chose this as our first one because we live between this one and Ponce Inlet. It was a perfect first one for our daughters. 34 steps to reach the lighthouse then 105 steps to the top. Every 25 steps, there is a place to stop and rest with a view. Well worth the climb. They do offer guided tours but we chose not to. I think they are at 10 and 2. There is an app to download that tells the history. There are buildings on site to see as well as old Indian mounds and a cemetery for the children. A museum as well is included in the fee price. We spent about 2 hours here and that was enough time to see everything.

By RonaldandMisty B |

Didn’t get to climb it as we saw it on our drive home, before they opened. Beautiful lighthouse, we always try to see as many lighthouses as we can when traveling and this one is really nice!

By DM10468 |

The museum was very well done. The exhibits were quite comprehensive. We unfortunately didn't have the chance to climb the lighthouse because of a combination of time constraints and the physical limitations of my companion. Nonetheless, the place is quite memorable and the trip to the museum and surrounding grounds was worthwhile.

By GetOutAndGetGoing |

Travelling through SE Florida and checking out lighthouses.... we decided to include the Jupiter Light in our plans. It does not disappoint! Wonderful gift shop... friendly and knowledgeable staff. And the walk from the shop to the lighthouse is well-maintained and full of beautiful foliage. If you are a lighthouse fan, this is a must stop.

By Tom S |

If you like lighthouses, you'll love this one. The scenery is so nice people have their weddings on the grounds.

By jodi06 |

We visited both the museum and the lighthouse and had a great time. The museum provided a great history of the local area and details the establishment of Jupiter and the interactions with the native population.

By Dave M |

I loved the view from the top - seeing the I C waterway meet the ocean

I am not a fan of open grating stairs, but I made it to the top

You can also get a certificate saying you survived the climb

By dgm |

Well kept lighthouse with a great view. It was a pretty easy climb compared to some lighthouses. Staff was friendly and informative. Not much by way of museum and supporting facilities to see so this was a pretty quick visit. A nice trail to walk near the water.

By Brent |

Very cool experience. 139 steps up to the top. Not a bad hike. Lots of cool historical information and beautiful views once you get to the top. Worth the visit

By TravelingFam |

Spent ~1 hour here. To go up in light house it’s 100+ stairs. Good views. $12 adults. $6 kids under 18. Also pioneer home and things to see along the way. If there are people at the top you may have to wait a bit for another group to come down. Corn hole and benches in the shade while you wait.
Hit restrooms at the beginning if needed. None along the way. Walkway-right now -Is not paved.

By miss_basics |

if available do a self guided tour, staff is young and has “stage fright” amongst a group of people. if this doesn’t bother you by all means take the tour

By MommaG |

Loved this place! So diverse. Went here on a date with the hubby and also is Great for the kids. Will be visiting again soon with my niece and nephew!

By RichardNoel33 |

This weekend we visited Jupiter for the first time and this place was a must-go. For a $12 price per adult you get great value back. The lighthouse is self-toured; I think they offered a guided-tour but not all the time. It takes about an hour or two to do everything, including the small museums and little houses that show how they used to live. Maintain hydrated, wear comfortable walking shoes, and plan accordingly because they do close the lighthouse when the weather gets a little rough. From the top of the lighthouse the view is amazing. You will see a panoramic view of the city and where the Indian river and the Loxahatchee river meet. The lighthouse is a peaceful and educational place to enjoy it family and friends.

By Alex |

The area is absolutely gorgeous! The staff were excited to tell me all the fun facts and history of the lighthouse and they were very friendly. My only warning is make sure you are physically prepared to climb all the steps, but when you do get to the top it is very worth the hike.

By crunch6 |

Another fun Spring Break idea to do with your family....climb to the top, see the museum...but also look for fun daily events they host like kayaking after a climb.

By landscaperjohn62 |

The museum is packed with educational history about how Jupiter started and its purpose. The lighthouse is awesome to see and climb inside. It is as much of a time travel as a person can experience. Watch the video inside and then climb the tower. Look at the dangerous rivers converging into the ocean and think about the efforts of men in primitive boats, harsh climates and the difficult qualities of life living conditions, as well as the primitive equipment for such hard tasks! Then once you absorb the past, you can immediately time travel to the present by looking toward the marvelous city life and robust modern times with all the advantages of truly living the great life in Florida.

By noahsmommy |

We visited as a last minute stop and are so glad we stopped.

You have to pay admission to see the lighthouse and museum. It was reasonable, only $21 for three of us. The museum is located in old Navy housing and it was really interesting seeing artifacts found in the area and in ship wrecks in the area. The museum is small and only takes about 15 minutes to go through. There is a small gift shop located there too.

Then we met our guide, a sweet older man, who did a great job explaining about the history of the area and lighthouse. You walk on a short path to the lighthouse and stop a short bit along the way for the guide to tell you about the history.

Once at the lighthouse you climb in groups the 105 stairs to the top. The stairs are old and metal, but sturdy. If you have very small children you will want to carry them in a backpack or carrier. It is not handicap accessible. Once at the top you climb onto the metal floor grate and can walk 360 degrees around the entire top. Beautiful views from the top. You decend when you want.

You also get to go inside an old original house from the 1800’s fully furnished as it would have been. And you get to go into the old lighthouse keepers work shed, which is now a mini museum telling about the keepers through the years.

Great stop to learn about the area and history of the lighthouse. We would recommend this stop for those who want to climb the lighthouse, otherwise it isn’t worth the cost.

By kimmyzug |

Everything is well done here-the museum, signage, Pioneer House-but do not fail to climb the lighthouse. The view is stunning in all directions and highlights the water: ocean, intracoastal, inlet and all.

By Bruce R |

The tour of the Jupiter Lighthouse is a must for anyone in the area. We are residents and go at least 4 times a year. Each time we learn something new. The climb to the top is really fun - and the view once you get there is spectacular. Lots of history which is interesting as well.

By Don G |

Don't misconstrue the title. The lighthouse was lovely and the grounds are well kept. The title pertains strictly to the ho hum tour that was provided; not by just one staff member but both.

My wife had the pleasure of touring the lighthouse earlier this year at which time she would have rated it a 5. Great tour guides with a passion for history who shared their knowledge. This was quite the opposite experience. No discussion on the way to the lighthouse, sent us to the top where there was no presentation unless you asked questions. Hmmmmm....maybe I don't know what I don't know so enlighten me with wisdom. Unfortunately there was little wisdom to impart since our guide clearly hadn't studied the history. I would have expected the owners to ensure this basic requirement was met for the job. The guide even had note cards to reference but only did once.

Disappointing!!!!

Great little museum. The museum has no cost, but the tour of the lighthouse costs $$. You get to go up the lighthouse and see the great views, but since its still a govt facility, you Must stay with the guide. The museum has a great history of the area.

Historical and beautiful place with super nice, knowledgeable staff. We went in July and it was very hot to be expected. The buildings are original and there are even coats guard homes still on the property. The climb to the top of the lighthouse is medium difficulty so wear athletic shoes. Staff member at the top was very nice. She took pictures for us and gave us lots of information. Would highly recommend. It’s $12 for adults

There is a large parking lot here. The museum was very informative. They have a nice size gift shop. You can tour the museum for $6 or combine the museum and lighthouse for $10.

Beautiful light house and park.. if your up for a hike walk the park or climb the steps to the top! Cute museum and gift shop..

The museum and gift shop were nice. There were some interesting artifacts and uniforms to see in the museum. The view on the water was nice and it was fun to watch the few boats go by. Since it was a rainy day, we were not allowed to go over to the lighthouse itself or go inside which was disappointing. It was a rainy day

There were two different museums on the grounds:

Lighthouse museum was a well curated collection of displays packed into a tiny building. From biographies of the Jupiter light keepers, how much light keepers were paid and what they did to the construction and design of the light house it a was very informative.

Main museum (inside an old Naval Building) was next to the gift shop and covered a breadth of subjects from the Seminoles, native Americans, who lived in the area, the life saving rescues and equipment used by the precursor to the Coast Guard, details on the San Miguel Archangel (Spanish wreck) found nearby and its secretive WWII role in hunting U boats.

On the lighthouse grounds:

The Tindall House housed some period furniture and insights into this local family.

Huge grouping of banyan (?) trees provided a nice covered spot to get out of the sun.

The lighthouse itself was accessed via a steep flight of stairs after waiting for the prior visitors to exit. There was approximately 105 steps with three landings inside to take a rest. Once at the top you can peek into the electric lamp but watch your head.

Once outside the aerial views of Jupiter Bay were amazing. I believe the highest vantage point for this part of Florida. The guide pointed out some key sights but also let us know that Jupiter Bay was home to many sports players so one had a high probability of bumping into someone famous while out and about.

Well worth the stop to visit. $12 for adults with discounts for seniors, military and children.

I went to a wedding here and it was breathtaking! The view, the water, the sunshine=love! If you are looking for a beautiful wedding backdrop, this is a great option!

The museum and lighthouse were very educational. The staff was very helpful and were able to answer all of our questions. It's a nice way to spend a couple of hours learning some of the history of the area. The climb to the top of the lighthouse is worth it for the great view. Even the teens in our group enjoyed the visit.

Better be in half way decent shape to climb the lighthouse! And don't be afraid of heights! it is definitely worth going to the top - great view. Great guides and tons of interesting history and artifacts. Kids will love the trip. At the base of the lighthouse is a staging area under an amazing banyan tree!

This is an attractive, well landscaped lighthouse and the climb is not too difficult as it is elevated on a hill and comparatively small. Only a limited number of people are allowed to climb at one time so there can be a wait if a group has already left to climb.
There is a docent at the top who can answer questions as well as a guide at the base who explains the procedure. Buy tickets at the gift shop before walking up to the base of the lighthouse. There is a small museum that explains how the keepers lived. Senior discounts. Veterans enter free right now.

The views from the lighthouse are so beautiful. The walk up to the top wasn’t bad at all. And the tree at the bottom of the lighthouse is so beautiful.

The lighthouse and it's museum are worth visiting if you are in the area. The terrace below it, shaded by a giant multi-trunk banyan tree was a picturesque location for the wedding I attended, and the weather in late October 2018 cooperated fully.

It isn’t often that you’ll see a red lighthouse like the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. If you arrive after hours take the nature trail. The trail starts just outside the closed gates to the lighthouse. You won’t be able to get up close but there are some good spots for taking pictures. The rest of the walk is also nice.

Informative museum and exhibits. Great views from top of the lighthouse. Air con in museum very welcome on a hot day.

We went there in the afternoon and the hike up the lighthouse is not really strenuous. The view from the top is impressive. The museum is very interesting and the staff are friendly and very helpful. This is a fun place to visit

I finally made it to the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse (our-of-town visitors always prompt me to explore my local surroundings!). It was beautiful. We took the Sunset Tour. What a fantastic way to watch a spectacular sunset. Climbing the stairs to the top of the lighthouse was a little difficult for some of the visitors, but I did not find it taxing. (I think that there are just over 100 steps.) And the views were well worth the effort. Plus the employees/volunteers were incredibly friendly and helpful. In fact, I'm planning on returning for the next available Full Moon tour!

Go! Enjoy!

Make this your first stop on your visit to the Jupiter area. The view from the top of the lighthouse gives great perspective on the inlet geography for the rest of your exploration

What a wonderful experience, climbing up into the light house, (even for an old guy) and the museum.

Having visited many light house throughout the US, the Jupiter Lighthouse was unique to the local history and surroundings. Definitely a worthwhile visit for local history and surroundings.

From the gift stop to the staff working the lighthouse areas… everyone we encountered was so welcoming and informative. We had a great time talking to everyone and walking up the stairs to a breathtaking view. Highly recommend this stop if ever you are in Jupiter.

Nice grounds, very informative visitors center and museum. It was about 160 steps to the top of the tower and we found it easy as you get to stop a moment every 25 steps
