Glad we stopped here. Smaller than I had imagined but definitely glad we did it. So many butterflies and the birds were stunning. Staff was amazing.

This is no nature preserve! This is a tiny greenhouse with too many butterflies and too many animals. Two flamingos that would have a better life in the wild. Same goes for the three turtles and the birds. I thought this was a lovely spot based on the reviews but it’s just a way to earn money on families with children. Awful!

This is a unique experience with learning included. A self-paced, albeit short walk through a greenhouse with jungle foliage, a pair of flamingos, ducks, birds, and hundreds of butterflies flying around.
This is NOT a zoo. All creatures are free to wander/fly about the greenhouse so if you like nature experiences this is a good one. And they teach you quite a bit about butterflies.
Pay the fee once and you can visit as many times that day as you like. Good for visiting the space at different times of the day and to get between groups of visitors when you can really experience the butterflies and atmosphere during quieter periods.

This place was absolutely amazing! The amount of butterflies and birds and they were all so beautiful. The after hour Flamingle is also a must do. Even the gift store was awesome.

Lovely collection of butterflies, flamingos, turtles, birds and interesting plants. Though a small conservatory, it is well managed. Free parking is very helpful!

This was an amazing experience. There were a variety of butterfly and bird species to learn about and observe as well as Flamingos, turtles, and fish. The vegetation was beautiful!

Small place that maximizes the experience with a meandering trail and benches along the way. Butterflies eventually landed on all of us. The turtle, flamingos, and other birds were added features. People were very careful not to trample the baby birds wandering the paths or the occasional butterfly landing on the ground. Take it slowly - the birds and butterflies are easy to see but you have to take the time to spot them because some are so obvious, you might miss the more hidden ones.

This was a truly amazing experience. While small in area, it houses a good number of bird and butterfly species. There are interesting exhibits that detail the life cycle of butterflies and informative signs everywhere. One of the unique experiences was seeing the various cocoons of the various species in the hatching area. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience for kids of all ages.

We’ve been to the butterfly conservatory in Phoenix, but we both agree that Key West surpasses that. Butterflies surround you as you walk in the Conservatory. If you’re a butterfly fan, you can get ideas of what they’re feeding them. Very interesting birds to see if you’re observant. The best gift shop for a little Christmas shopping. Don’t miss it!

Beautiful butterfly garden! Absolutely gorgeous filled with butterflies from all over the world and many lovely birds inside. The gift shop is my favorite! I’ve been here many times and have a lovely collection from their acrylic butterfly artwork room. They can ship it directly to your home safely with bubble wrap and packing popcorn and fragile stickers. I love my art and have had many guests where I got the beautiful butterflies, it was here at Key West Butterfly Garden.

This is an absolute do NOT miss. So lush, beautiful, and tropical. Beautiful butterflies of every color fluttering around. Did you know most only last 10-14 days? Look closely because they can really blend in with their surroundings. There are also turtles, tropical birds, and of course, the gorgeous flamingos. Do not hesitate. Well worth the price of admission. If you buy your tickets online on the website, you will save $$.

This was a truly magical experience. I went back for a second time before leaving the island. I’ve never seen so many butterflies in my life

This experience is really cool and the people are lovely. There were so many beautiful blue butterflies that I was dying for one to land on me for the perfect picture. Of course, it happened to the sweet lady behind.
Experience is great, gift shop has a lot of cool things for sale. I just took off one star because it felt short. We were even there at a busy time with a long queue and it still went by rather quickly.
I would say it is a must do. The flamingos and turtles were a nice a surprise.

More butterflies I've seen here than in other places/cities. It was a cool place to visit and sat down to chill or take lots of photos with butterflies , birds or beautiful plants & flowers. Very friendly staff to help you and answered your questions too

A nice stop in Key West to see butterflys all about, some birds, and turtles. The location is close to the Southernmost point. A recommended stop!

Fascinating visit! The employees were very knowledgeable and friendly. A great learning experience. The staff were at the ready to answer questions.

The Butterfly House was amazing. I thought it would be good, but it exceeded my expectations. I have never seen so many different butterflies. The colors were spectacular. An unexpected delight were the pair of flamingos who put on quite a show.

If you are looking for something different to do in Key West we recommend The Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory. They also have a very unique gift shop with excellent customer service.

This was a fantastic experience. There were many different species of butterflies to observe, along with tropical birds and plants. The conservatory itself is clean, well maintained, and has such a clam-peaceful vibe. Very impressive and appreciated. Great for families, couples, or individuals. Depending on 'peak time' you may get right into the building, or have to wait a bit in que.

Better than expected, my family really enjoyed the beautiful garden and the numerous butterflies! They were everywhere! Staff was friendly and helpful.

So many butterflies! I expected there to be butterflies ... but I wasn't prepared for how many butterflies there would be. Nor did I expect there to be so many different butterflies. Simply amazing!
We toured the exhibit during the day and then went back that afternoon for the Flamingle with Rhett & Scarlett (which you need separate reservations for.) It's pretty cool to sit and allow a couple of flamingos to interact with you. Almost moving actually.

Key West Butterfly is located in your part of Duval St. Combine this tour with the Southernmost point and Pier Emma Carrero, plus the shops on the south side of Duval St. We stopped the car at Duval's parking lot with United St.
We paid about $37 for 2 entries to the butterfly store. It is small and full, we take about 30 minutes to visit it. There is bastate butterfly, of various species, flamingos, beetle-flower and other birds.
Love us! It is a quick and very explaining tour of the few panels that exist in the attraction. They take great care for butterflies not to come out through the greenhouse doors.
The place has a beautiful shop, where I bought some good souvenirs: copinho, sticker, glass butterfly, pin. It's pretty, but I haven't seen as many options as I've read on the internet.
I recommend the visit!

Girls trip made a stop here from our cruise ship. Took a quick Lyft to get here and was super easy. The butterflies and plants here were so cool to see!! You never are too old for butterflies. There were so many unique ones. The flamingos were cute. Unique birds as well. We spent about an hour here. They have a cutesy gift shop attached with lots of pretty things. It was one of our favorite things we did on the trip.

I've been in many butterfly gardens and houses and never seen this many butterflies. They are EVERYWHERE. There are also beautiful tropical birds. As we came in, Rony, introduced us to the tortugas since they're usually hiding up higher. We came back to him later with some questions, and he taught us some really interesting things about moths and the conservancy. The flamingos were putting on a show. It was a nice place to also just sit and watch the butterflies go by or even have them land on you. Well worth the visit with entrance fees going to a good cause.

friendly activity with children , a fairly quick visit , super butterflies, if you a tight enough schedule pass your way.

This is well worth the $18 per person to see. The butterflies are stunningly beautiful. There are also a few exotic birds and flamingos. The conservatory itself is not air conditioned so it's a little hot in there but once you see the butterflies, you don't mind.

This was one of the first places we visited during our stay. It is very popular and can get crowded, especially when a cruise ship is in port. It was interesting. Similar to other butterfly places. They have a nice gift shop.

Down for a long weekend and my wife was excited to see and photograph all the butterflies. Saw the 2 flamingos and a turtle also. Cool place

A must see in key west..A very neat attraction... highly recommended ... birds, turtles and thousands if butterflies

Beautiful butterflies everywhere! One landed on my head and my purse and stayed for several minutes. Great activity for a cool or rainy day. Lovely little gift shop

The butterflies here were beautiful and there were so many different species. There were many educational readings and pictures before beginning the walk through. This is the first butterfly experience I’ve ever had the pleasure of walking through so there were a few things I didn’t expect: the heat, the crowd, the small walking path. There were also other animals in the exhibit, a flamingo, birds and turtle that we got to see. There are coupons for this for in the local booklets. I wish I could have stayed longer honestly but my husband was dripping sweat after about an hour and it was so crowded. We went right before dinner time, so maybe if you do this early in the day it won’t be as crowded.

The Butterfly house is just a lovely slice of beauty, wonder and peace. Don't miss this. Well worth the visit.

Wow, this was amazing and absolutely a must do. When you enter the conservatory you are immediately surrounded by hundreds of butterflies flying all around you. Every direction you look there is more. The plants are gorgeous. We also got to see flamingos, turtles and birds! The staff was so friendly and informative.

This was our first visit to the butterfly consortium. It was beautiful and amazing and so interesting. We had such a great time together there. We went back for a second round later in the evening and bought something beautiful for our travel room! Just a beautiful place! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

On our 4th trip to Key West, we learned about the butterfly conservatory. We have been to others; this one is the best! Not only so many butterflies, but birds and turtles too. There were cocoons on display in their various stages, with some butterflies beginning to emerge. It was fascinating!

There were so many butterflies, but also other birds and animals to see in this exhibit. It was well worth the cost and a nice break from the heat.

This was such a fun experience! If you love plants, birds, and butterflies you'll love it and could stay there all day. It can get a bit crowded, they don't really regulate how many people are inside the conservatory at a time I don't think. But, still an amazing experience!

We went here after a recommendation from our Key Lime Bike Tour guide, James. It did not disappoint. It was amazing to see all the butterflies, beautiful plants, and a gorgeous pair of pink flamingoes. I've been to other exhibits like this, but this one far exceeded any others. The amount of butterflies, and the beautiful plants, etc. were so lovely. You could tell that everyone in there, from young kids to elders, were equally amazed!

This is a unique place in key West and should not be missed. Small fee to enter the museum and conservatory, but well worth it! We stopped in and were not disappointed. There are so many butterflies flocking around, along with the two prettiest two pink flamingos. The butterflies are so many, and they are flying around and just enjoying their domain. We are just spectators in their butterfly world. Must see!!

Very nice butterfly encounter , they offer veteran discounts , very informative, beware it is warm they keep environment 80 degrees and 80% humidity. Nice places to sit inside and just enjoy the butterflies and plants.

This was a great little stop. More than 1500 butterflies, birds, and koi fish. The staff were great and it is a very nice place to visit

Best butterfly garden I've been to...more special than grand ones in big cities. A wonderful variety of butterflies and flowering plants keep your camera busy (and impress your friends later). I appreciated having a butterfly guide available ($1) so I could identify all the stars in my pictures. You can return again the same day with your ticket, and I loved taking advantage of that, noticing different butterflies and birds the second time.

You will find your face is sore from smiling. Great little escape, hundreds of butterflies plus, flamingos and many beautiful colored birds. You can also walk through the room as many times as you choose throughout the day. The gift store prices are perfect for souvenirs

Go through at least twice. Better when you go slower. A little humid so is comforting to visit gift shop and then return.

Just loved the butterflies The were just beautiful They seemed to like the people that came through and picked certain people to land on.

One word sums it up. Wow. Though beautiful would work too. We have been to Key West many times but this is the first time we stopped in to see the butterflies. It is an amazing experience and should be high on everyones "to see" list.

Such a peaceful place with the water and the birds. I really want quails now. The butterflies were amazing. You can't touch them but for them to touch you was truly a treat. I had one land on my finger but I couldn't take a picture because it was the one that was holding my phone. I want to do this every time I come to Key West now because it is so relaxing. The staff is amazing as well. Just a great all around experience.

The butterflies were beautiful and the birds and flamingoes an unexpected bonus. We took our time and walked through twice. Nice and cool on a hot June day.

Absolutely stunning. The number and types of butterfly’s is amazing. Definitely a must do while in Key West. Professional staff and even offer a military discount.

The Butterfly and Nature Conservatory is well worth a visit. My family of 8, 6 adults and 2 teens, all commented on how much they enjoyed themselves. Take your time and really look everywhere, lots to see.

I loved this beautiful place. It made me smile. Lovely gardens, water features, birds, and of course butterflies. Very nice offerings in large gift shop.

This place was great! My friend recommended that I come here so we did. For the price you cant beat it. There are so many butterflies all over the place. They'll even land on your head if you stand still. I highly recommend that you check it out if you are in keywest. They have a few other animals as well. I would check this out!

We had one rainy morning in KW so we decoded to walk over to the butterfly conservatory and were so happy we did. It is fantastic. Over 18,000 butterflies! A definite must see if in KW

Absolutely beautiful inside. So many butterflies and plants. Totally worth visiting. Loved the gift shop as well. Just wonderful

Well worth a visit. The conservatory is filled with a wide variety of butterflies and a few birds, including two flamingos. The whole family enjoyed the visit.

This place was a huge disappointment and absolutely not worth the high ticket price. Visitors are packed into a small conservatory area where it seemed like there were just as many humans as butterflies. There was zero staff interaction and we learned nothing about the butterflies or birds - it was purely observational and lacking any education. Some staff were stood around chatting to each other when they could have been managing the queues of people. We even witnessed someone stand on a poor butterfly on the pathway. We found the check in staff to be fairly dismissive too and Unique was particularly rude and unwelcoming. We would not return or recommend it to other visitors.

This is another "must go" place in Key Largo although the parking charges are insane.
This year there was a plethora of large blue butterflies. As usual we had a great time walking through swarms of butterflies. They also have some really attractive small birds flying around, turtles and a pair of Flamingos.

This place is beautiful and can be relaxing if you can withstand the heat and humidity. It is set at 80 degrees with 80% humidity because that’s what the butterflies like! They’re also birds and turtles in the conservatory as well. If you’ve been out in the sun all day and go in here, I would recommend a different day or do this before laying out on the beach! The butterfly wall before going into the conservatory was super neat to see all of the butterflies!

A beautiful experience. The conservatory is small and doesn't take much time to walk through. Very nicely layed out pathway to follow. Birds, fauna and of course the butterflies!!! Very interesting "lab" windows to watch the emerging new butterflies.

This place is so cool! The butterflies are simply beautiful. All you really need to do is walk in, stand and watch. They race each other around the enclosure, one landed on my friend's cheek, groups will sit on plates of fruit, and the turtles just take it all in. It was cool seeing where the butterflies emerge and warm and dry in the window, and are then placed in a large bin to fully warm up and take flight. And, while I'm not really a "gift shop person", this place is so cool, I became one here. In a way, this place reminded me of the Giant Tortoise hatcheries in the Galapagos Islands, seeing the butterflies waiting to dry and warm. A VERY cool place to visit.

So magical with so many butterflies! We loved it! We went in the morning and it did not feel too crowded. I would go back again.

Beautiful sanctuary for a myriad of butterflies, along with turtles, various species of birds, and two flamingoes (Rhett and Scarlet). Really enjoyed this with my wife. And they offer a nice senior discount.

Amazing! Small but just enough to walk around and so much to view - an array of butterflies 🦋, pair of flamingos 🦩 and a variety of small birds 🦜😍 There is also a section on the life cycle of a butterfly with all types of cocoons to look at! The best one we've been to so far! So much to choose from in the gift shop as well!
Definitely worth a visit! 👍🏻🦋

We went to the Butterfly and Nature Conservatory on the recommendation of someone we met on the street. We really weren’t expecting much, but this place is great! There are hundreds of butterflies, some birds, some turtles. What makes it amazing is that the butterflies are flying all around you. I just wouldn’t recommend it for small children who might be frightened or unruly. However, for older kids it’s a nice educational experience. We particularly liked the very large blue butterflies that were in abundance.

An incredible experience. A very serene and beautiful place. It’s a very spiritual experience to walk among all those f the many flying butterflies!

Great chance to be up close with butterflies and flamingos. As a quick easy stop it was very nice. Not as much variety of butterflies as I hoped but the butterflies do fly right up to you and in your face. I use a walker and it was easy. The exhibit space is shaded. We silent about 30 minutes. I enjoyed the flamingos. I love how they use their heads up side down

The butterflies are just beautiful along with the birds and flamingos. It is just relaxing to see them flying around you and even sometimes landing on you. Great place for all ages

Good information on butterflies as you start the visit. Then you enter the greenhouse/butterfly house. There is a back and forth path among a lot of tropical plants and butterflies everywhere. There are all different kinds, from very small to large, from ones that look like leaves to ones with vivid colors. t the end I felt very relaxed and close to nature.

This was a beautiful conservatory. it was amazing to step in and see hundreds of butterflies just flying around. The colors were so vibrant. There was a warning about humidity and heat, but it was not bad at all. It was peaceful and serene. There were a few too many people in there, but other than that it was great and I would highly recommend.

This place was a bit of a wild card. We weren't expecting to go here - we have butterfly exhibits in Chicago, and didn't think we needed to see this. But it was close by our hotel, and when walking by decided to check it out. I'm so glad we did! It was much better than other butterfly exhibits I've seen, and felt like being in a butterfly storm. So many flying about, and so many birds as well. It's a little overwhelming when you first step in.

Beautiful butterfly conservatory and gift shop. It’s very quick and short but lovely. Tickets are a little pricey but we were glad we did go, it’s not very often you get to see so many butterflies

Amazing collection of butterflies and birds. Everything is well cared for and it shows. I will be following the flamingos who were talking about mating :)

Be ready to see LOTS of butterflies. The first room has an awesome display of a huge variety of butterflies. Great to see them individually. On our visit it was packed so the crowd determined the pace for walking thru and the butterflies are flittering everywhere. The crowd may cause this but not sure. A cruise ship was in for the AM high created the extra crowded conditions. Probably better to go in afternoon after cruise ship left. We enjoyed seeing the beautiful butterflies, birds, and flamingos. A lot of educational material too.

What a beautiful place. Staff were lovely and very friendly. Just magical from the second you walk through the doors and see the butterflies everywhere. Like walking into paradise. The birds and other animals were an unexpected bonus!

I can't say enough nice things about this place! We all had an amazing time here! It was so beautiful and magical. The butterflies are stunning! Beautiful gift shop and the associates working there are all very nice. I wish I had seen this the 1st day we were down as you can visit it all day. Our hotel was across the street at the Southernmost which is walking distance.

What an amazing experience. Words can't describe how beautiful and tranquil the butterfly house is. I had to return later in the day for a second visit, I loved it so much. I doubt you will ever see as many Butterflies, flying around you, anywhere else. The Butterflies and birds all appear to be living an enriched and healthy life and do not appear to be hindered by the presence of human visitors ( all of whom were quiet & respectful to the inhabitants as they walked round the exhibit). Visit here is a must to any nature lovers.

Having been to other butterfly conservatory’s this was by far the most impressive. The moment you walk inside there are tongs of different butterflies fluttering around. They also had some birds and Rhea & Scarlett. Definitely worth a visit!

It’s been a dream to meet Flamingos so when we saw this available we just had to, Rhett & Scarlett are an amazing pair, such a surreal and wonderful experience.
The whole setting is beautiful much better than I had imagined, I loved how everything is bird lead to keep them safe & happy.
Alex our guide was so knowledgeable and never rushed us, she prepared us what to expect before entering and checked in with us throughout our time at the conservatory, she really made the experience even better!
We’ve already fell in with love Key West and will be back and will definitely spend time with these two beauties again 💗
I am proud to say a flamingo pooped on my flamingo shoes 👌🏻

We went in an a whim, and did not expect it to be such a great experience. It’s beautiful and peaceful and honestly, otherworldly. The staff is lovely and wonderful educators.

This experience was unreal. The tranquil and breathtaking inner part of the conservatory puts your mind at ease and takes you to a magical place! We both enjoyed this so much and would highly recommend it!

A beautiful butterfly experience, and the flamingos are gorgeous - but I really hope they’re allowed outside their confines when the place is closed to the public. Also, kudos to the staff at the front desk, managers and Lost&Found - and especially the staff member or patron who found my purse (accidentally left on a bench when I removed my phone to turn it off per their instructions) and turned it in to await my near-hysterical return. It had been returned with all money, cards, and especially my ID, or I would not have been able to get on the express boat two hours later and return home. And I’d still be calling credit card companies, health care providers, online retailers, etc. The relief was palpable and gratitude eternal. Happy new year! 😎

This is a beautiful place. I absolutely love butterflies. We were hesitant at first due to some reviews that said that this place was an overpriced tourist trap. I am so glad that we decided to see for ourselves. It is well worth the price and a great experience. I highly recommend this place if your visiting Key West.

Experience was great some stuff was very rude! Beyond the rudeness it was nice to see all the different types of butterflies that are in the world

A definite must do in Key West. The butterflies are everywhere and the plants are amazing. It also has a really nice gift shop with very friendly employees.

We have been to Key West numerous time and never went here but so glad we did! The butterflies are beautiful! The employees are so knowledgeable and very friendly! They answered our questions and so much really great information! We will do a do over for sure!

We visit the Key West Butterfly Conservatory every time we go to Key West. It's a delight to see all the animals...butterflies, birds, turtles and of course the flamingos!

A nice little rainforest museum with many, many butterflies to see. They also had a few exotic birds which were beautiful.

This was our first visit to this delightful spot near Southermost Point on Duval, but it will not be our last. We had passed it by on a previous trip as we didn't have the luxury of amble time and assumed (very incorrectly) that it wouldn't be as nice as similar conservatories we had visited. We were amazed that we had made such an error. This small but very well set-up conservatory packed a HUGE amount of beauty into a small but well-maintained area, and there were many little nooks and crannies you could step into so that you weren't rushed along by larger, less-interested groups of people.
The variety of butterfly species was surprising, and the overall sense of awe that we experienced was worth every penny of the admission price. The folks that work here are all very knowledgeable and helpful when asked questions, and it was truly enjoyable to see even the most jaded travelers standing stock-still when they would serve as a landing zone for 3 or 4 beautiful winged-inhabitants that seemed to appreciate their choice of flowered clothing!

This is an absolutely magical experience from the second you walk though the doors. Watching the butterflies flitter around is nothing short of breath taking. Scarlett and Rhett are beautiful, as are the other tropical birds. Seeing Booger the gecko up close after being a fan of his on facebook was the best. I could have spent all day here.

Excellent way to explore nature & learn about butterflies, birds, and plants. This indoor location is ideal rain or shine. We visited on a particularly windy and cool day, so the venue was incredibly busy. Parking the in immediately area was $$$, but there are free on street parking spaces within a 5 minute walk. Tip: buy your tickets online to get a small discount and also avoid standing in the long line to purchase tickets. Upon arrival, locate a staff member in the shop/ticket purchase area to check-in, show your ticket purchase confirmation email and they will escort you to the entrance door.

Unexpected joy!! As a middle aged married guy, I was going here under duress of my wife & daughters. What I found was an amazing place! The butterflies were absolutely gorgeous! I was not expecting to see birds (including quails & flamingos.) It was a respite from the heat & a pleasure to sit & watch these beautiful creatures flit about & do so in a safe environment. It wasn't what I expected, but it was a fun place to spend some time while in KW.

Enchanting! My husband and I had been here 7 years ago. I brought my mom this time. It’s is a good value. Everyone will love it.

The Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory is a must. If it is your first time in a conservatory be prepared for more than 500 butterflies fluttering all around. Once you are accustomed to the atmosphere, enjoy taking pictures and being present in the moment. It is truly a fascinating exhibit and moderately priced. It is also great if you have children and the weather in the Keys is not favorable.

Lots of colorful flyers. Some birds in their nests. A small manmade stream runs through the greenhouse with lots of vegetation. Not a huge greenhouse, but a good destination while in Key West.

Unforgettable experience! We fully recommend it! It's a mixture of emotion and surprise. Having the chance to be up close with butterflies is priceless. We were super satisfied!! Really fantastic!!😍

This place is adorable, as soon as you walk in, there are butterflies everywhere! Plus beautiful flamingoes and different tropical birds. Bonus points - if a butterfly lands on you, make sure to have that camera ready!

Hundreds of butterflies flying around you, some of them incredibly beautiful. Little and colourful birds as well. Turtles, fish, exotic plants and flowers. Everything perfect. And the kindest staff.

A nice place, but not particularly unique to Key West. Lots of butterflies, plus some birds and very nice flowers. It is basically a large greenhouse, and it feels like it - very hot and VERY humid; it actually was a little too hot after a while.

Amazing conservatory! Butterflies, birds, orchids, turtles, and more butterflies than you can count! Absolutely a must see in Key West!

We enjoyed walking through the conservatory and every thing you see there are real. We especially loved the pair of rescue flamingoes. Definitely worth the visit.

Beautiful butterflies all around in an amazing environment of greenery and flowers. Colorful birds fluttering by. But the best part was watching Rhett and Scarlett, the two flamingos , doing their mating songs then quickly flailing their wings. One butterfly landed on my shoulder. Then another on my head. Made me smile

We absolutely LOVED going into this butterfly conservatory. There were so many butterflies EVERYWHERE! It was just the most enjoyable experience. I would recommend this to anyone who adores butterflies!

It was unbelievable.a must if you are in Key West and is not time consuming. Learn a lot about butterflies. In addition to seeing the butterflies, you see two flamingos, turtles, and birds. Great for kids too.

Although this is a small venue, it was surprising the number of butterflies and birds within. We enjoyed watching the butterflies and seeing so many different varieties in chrysalis and adult stage.
The gift shop is adorable with lots of themed items.
The staff was informative.
Great way to spend an hour in Key West.

The nature conservation was short but very beautiful. Many beautiful butterflies everywhere, the flamingos were neat, few fish, and a calming environment.

During winter break, we met someone who highly recommended the Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory. So during our recent visit, we decided to check it out. It was an amazing experience and far exceeded our expectations. The butterflies were beautiful, and one I was trying to photograph landed on someone’s hand and posed for a pic. We highly recommend visiting during your Key West vacation.

This was a great place to learn about the life cycles and see all types of Butterflies. The staff are awesome and if you ask will tell you all about the daily things they go through. The butterflies may land on you and use you to rest on. Very neat. We spent about an hour just in with the butterflies.

We came with friends June of 2023 and was happily surprised at how wonderful this place was! This is our 4th trip to the keys and we had never been here. So many butterflies flying around and landing on you, flamingos, and lots of birds. I took the most beautiful photos and videos.

This place is simply magical. I could have stayed there for hours just observing the butterflies & birds. I wish the facility was bigger and had more areas where you could sit and take it all in. A blue Morpho butterfly landed on my shoulder and stayed there for almost 10 minutes as I walked around.

This was my second visit to the butterfly sanctuary, and it was just as good as the first!
You enter the sanctuary, which is kept at a temperature of 80 degrees, and it takes a bit to take it all in because it's so beautiful. The majority of the area is lush, tropical vegetation with very soothing music in the background.
Of course, the main feature are the butterflies of all colours and sizes swirling around you. They all really captivate you with their beauty and calming nature. If you're lucky, 1 or 2 will land on you. My partner and I remarked that the experience was not unlike one of those pharmaceutical commercials where everyone is happy and "living their best lives." It really was both a relaxing and captivating experience - and essential if you visit Key West.
Along with the butterflies, keep your eye out for 2 Flamingos and 2 turtles.
Please listen to what the butterfly minders tell you: walk slowly and pay attention to the ground where you walk so you don't step on a butterfly.
I know they recommend spending less than an hour here, but I actually recommend staying longer because of the sheer number of butterflies and the calming effect of the experience which should not be discounted.

After purchasing entrance you come to a room that has different information and examples of butterflies through their life cycle. Then you go through double doors to the butterfly inclosure. There were butterflies fluttering everywhere and landing on different plant species. Along the winding path were a couple of places to sit down but for the most part people moved forward in a line. The walk through was worth the cost and we had a lot of fun trying to spot the different butterfly and birds living in the habitat.

We had an amazing experience and loved the foliage and butterflies! Staff was amazing. The collection of butterflies on the entrance way was phenomenal and had no idea that many even existed.

A great space with beautiful butterflies and birds. Quite an experience that ends in a huge magical gift shop!

Great short or long visit--your ticket lets you come and go all day. There was a line to get in but so worth it to see all the butterflies and birds (flamingoes are Rhett and Scarlett!)

Wonderful experience. I could have stayed all day! There's more than just butterflies to see. The gift shop also has nice merch.

So much more than I was expecting! Being able to walk through the conservatory and see hundreds if not thousands of butterflies flying all over, even landing on my wife to just chill out! The flamingos were a pleasant surprise as well. Worth the money in every way and one of my wife’s favorite stops!

Found this little gem whilst staying in Key West. Good price to get in and can use it numerous times during the day.
Little info room and then into the butterfly house which is amazing. Also inside is fish, birds, flamingos and turtles. Beautiful selection of butterflies and informative staff.
Gift shop too to buy a memento or 2!!!
Definitely worth a visit.

We had the best experience here! It's been on my list for years, but we finally made it to the butterfly center this trip. Highly recommend, especially if you get a cloudy or rainy afternoon like we did. My husband even enjoyed it!

We loved it. So informative. Great care taken to educate everyone. So many beautiful butterflies. And many opportunities to see them up close.
Birds were plentiful; along with the flamingos who like to sing. Plus the turtles.
So lovely our favorite place here.

I would highly recommend adding this to one of your stops in Key West! It was beautiful! The staff was knowledgeable and answered all questions from the kids.

What a beautiful place to visit. Absolutely a must . Truly enjoyable . Definitely we recommend this place

A wonderful experience with many different varieties of butterflies and colorful birds! Well done! We will definitely be back. Next time I’m taking my camera.

The Key West Butterfly Conservatory is a MUST SEE! Well worth the cost. It was magical! The birds, flamingos, fish and turtles were awesome too! Loved it!!!!

This place is absolutely beautiful. You walk in and navigate a path and are surrounded by all kinds of fluttering butterflies. There are also birds, two flamingos and some turtles. The staff will happily educate you on all things butterfly. It's a very cool and calming experience.

Absolutely amazing! So many butterflies beautiful plants and birds. Far better than expected. Definitely exceeded expectations.

Absolutely loved this! The gift shop is amazing and the variety of butterflies and birds was amazing. Perfect for young and old!

This is a nice conservatory where we actually learned a lot. You enter into an educational room that teaches about the butterflies (and moths, which have different characteristics) before going into the conservatory itself. There are definitely butterflies everywhere - blue ones that fly about quickly, black and orange ones that allow for great photos, owl butterflies and more. There are also turtles plus a number of tropical birds, and be sure not to miss the window into the hatching area at the end.

We brought the whole family back to see the butterfly’s and other creatures there. BEAutiful little place, just like a botanical garden. Had all sorts of butterfly’s, birds, and a turtle. The flamingo’s were always a hoot to watch.

What neat experience. Plan on at least a full hour to go through the exhibits and the butterfly area. We have a butterfly farm near us in Encinitas - but nothing like this place. A must stop when in Key West

My husband and I had visited here. It was the most sereal feeling in the world to be in a huge room filled with butterflies and some birds. Just fluttering all around us, it was amazing! You can view the lab and see the habitat growth. They have a cute little shop. I had to stop myself, they had such cute items.

You get ripped off here. I'm really terrified because I was cheated in this souvenir store. I wanted to buy something, the online payment device supposedly didn't work and I had to pay the price again. My Appel pay showed me that the payment had been made, but the sales clerk insisted that I pay again. Now the amount has been debited twice. I'm really annoyed. Don't buy anything there because they rip you off.

Such a unique way to see a part of nature you likely would not otherwise see. Unfortunately the staff ruined the experience. They were closing early for Thanksgiving. This was not posted nor did they tell us when they took our money. Staff was glaring at us when we walked in and was a few steps away staring at us the whole time. Then they said they were closing. As we exited a girl slapped a butterfly on our chests without even acknowledging us. You get the point. RUDE AND OBNOXIOUS!!! Not our fault you had to work on Thanksgiving and didn’t say you were closing early. Go move somewhere that’s not a tourist town!

All different kinds of butterflies and birds. They are very colorful. Flamingos were doing their mating dance which was entertaining. Lots to see.

This was such a surprise break we took from the heat of key west! Ended up being a magical and beautiful experience, one of our most fond memories in Key West.

We had no idea what to expect when we decided to come here. When you first enter, you walk into a wonderful gift shop. From there, you proceed to a room with information about butterflies from around the world. Then, you carefully walk through a set of doors and into this enchanting little world of butterflies, singing birds, waterfalls, and soothing music. It is a very serene space. It was such a relaxing experience that we went through it a second time.
In the loudness that is Key West, this place is an escape from the noise. What a wonderful place it is. If we come back to this island, I will , without a doubt, put this on my things to do list again.

I've been to other butterfly conservancies, but this tops them all. The variety of butterflies and the layout are both impressive, but the number of butterflies is unbelievable.

I was mesmerized with the beauty of the butterflies. I thought walking in I was transported to another planet filled with beautiful butterflies, birds and flamingos. I plan to visit this location every time I visit Key West.

Make sure to visit the Butterfly Nature Conservatory in Key West, Florida. This lovely spot offers a delightful experience with beautiful butterflies fluttering around, some even landing on you. It's just the right size for a relaxed 1-2 hour visit. Inside, you'll find a cool escape from the summer heat with comfortable air conditioning, and its downtown location makes it convenient to reach on foot from anywhere in Key West.

Have you not been to one of these? It’s an enclosure within which are trees and a path to walk on, artificially resembling an over-manicured forest. Butterflies flutter about and land on plates of fruit set about. Small birds that don’t eat butterflies are part of the charm. These types of butterfly enclosures always seem to have a predominance of large blue butterflies (clearly a crowd pleaser). The down side: seen one, seen them all. They do not focus on native butterflies. These are all imported every two weeks. That also means they can’t include the host plants (federal regulations) so you are seeing an artificial and manipulated attraction. They have zero information on what you can do in your own garden to save declining butterflies. That surprised me. In the end, this is less about butterfly conservation than it is an attraction.

You will definitely see tons of butterflies, birds and more! It's a relaxing environment but can also be a bit busy with people walking right on top of you. It's probably better for kids, though for adults it's a very small space, small amount of walking and could be more interesting if the space was larger and/or more interactive.

Since I raise Monarch butterflies, I was thrilled to go through the conservatory. I was in awe of all the beautiful butterflies flying around. There were also flamingos, turtles and beautiful birds! There was one bird named Endora, and she looked just like Endora from Bewitched! lol I just loved the place. Worth every penny and worth the trip!

You walk through an indoor garden with hundreds of butterflies zipping around and posing on leaves. One landed on my head! It was a beautiful and peaceful experience.

I loved this place. It's really beautiful. Dozens of butterflies are flying around us. This is my best place in the Keys. There are also turtles, birds and flamingos in the greenhouses. You have to take the time and watch the butterflies.

Magical. Amazingly beautiful butterflies and birds, including two gorgeous flamingos. Well organized. Very much worth the visit.

Visited twice now. Just gets better. So many butterflies it's amazing. At the very south end of Duval street. Recommended this place to a friend whom loved it.
Great gift shop. Even some birds in the green house. Very busy.

This is a must see in Key West. If you are looking for a great day to spend doing something indoors, but feel like you are outdoors and you love plants, birds and butterflies, you will not be disappointed. Sorry I did not see this sooner.

You must visit this awesome facility in Key West! From the moment you walk in until the moment you leave, you will be completely happy to be able to experience so much natural beauty loving cared for by an amazing staff! And you can even return later in the day for another visit with your receipt! We lingered quite some time, walking clockwise and counterclockwise with ease (October is a great time to be in the Keys). We learned about the process of getting the butterfly larvae, the lifecycle of the butterflies as well as hearing about the resident flamingoes and birds! This is a bucket list item in Key West for sure!

Really enjoyed all of the birds, butterflies and plants. If I win the lottery I would love to have a small conservatory like this in my mansion. It was fun to hear flamingo Rhett call to get Scarlett's attention and see them dance and display.

Tip: Your entry is good all day. So if you are staying close by, or go for lunch... you can take another trip through.
In addition to all the amazing Butterflies, there are birds, flamingos, a tortoise, and the plants and garden feeding stations are beautiful.

What a beautiful place to visit. This was a return visit for us with our daughter and granddaughter. She loves the flamingos Rhett & Scarlet. Just seeing all the different butterflies that are available is such a beautiful experience. My hubby even had 3 blue ones land on him...his lucky day 🦋🦋🦋. If you are in KW be sure to stop and visit.

One of the most beautiful places to visit. There was so much to see and it felt like you were in a fairytale. If you're in Key West, this is definitely a must.

AMAZING experience! Go and great for all ages. A must if visiting. I have been twice, once on a girl's trip and another with family. We all loved this experience. The gift shop is great too! Will go each and everytime I am in KW.

Highly rated for good reason. We got there right when it opened, which also coincides with when the butterflies are most active. Definitely worth checking out early in the morning. There is a slight savings (time and money) if you pre-purchase tickets. The tickets are good for whenever, so no need to pick a specific time. The actual butterfly house was full of beautiful butterflies and birds that were chilling in various trees and nests. We only spent maybe 20 minutes here, but you could definitely spend more time.
Did not disappoint.

When one thinks of Key West, do butterflies come to mind? Well they should. This place is an incredible place to walk amongst the butterflies. There are so many varieties and if you are really still, they may even land on your shoulders! This gem is a must stop place in Key West.

We loved seeing all the birds and butterflies. Its a small place but full of so much amazing beauty. Even had a little hitchhiker who wanted to hang out on our hat! It was one of the highlights of our visit to key west.

One of the hightlights in Key West, a must see for children and adults :) They also have 2 flamingos and small little colourful birds.

We've been to butterfly houses around the country at various big-city zoos, and this one tops them all. It's so beautifully, thoughtfully done with the pair of flamingos in center where you feel like you bond with them :). It's filled with lovely bird feeders, butterfly feeders, tropical plants. Blue butterflies are fluttering everywhere and there are many other kinds plus colorful birds. Loved the experience so much in morning that we came back again in afternoon (tickets good for repeat visit on same day).

This was the best butterfly exhibit compared to others I had been to. You walk in and are immediately greeted by the sight of hundreds of butterflies all around you. Some even landed on people. The decor was topped off by the presence of two flamingos. This was more than I had expected. Perfect for families.

We came and saw the butterflies and birds here. Not bad, but that alone probably wasn't worth the trip. I actually think the gift shop and butterfly-based art is better and more worthwhile if you are looking for something for the house.

Amazing attraction. So many beautiful butterflies. We could have stayed the entire day. Very relaxing atmosphere.

Omg! This is my heaven. The employees were friendly and very informative. The gallery of the butterflies in acrylic were just breathtaking. The history of the museum was so heart warming. And then when you go inside to see the butterflies and birds is just the coolest thing ever. Got to the end and had to go back to the beginning again and see it all again. But your pass is for the whole day if you want to go back more than once

Beautiful experience and one of the best conservatory’s I’ve ever been in. I brought my two boys and they had a great time. Has a gift shop that’s lovely. Overall the entire place is well
Put together and worth the money.

This was a truly magical experience. We walked in and were immediately mesmerized by the number of butterflies and birds. It is beautifully designed and something to truly experience when in Key West.

The butterflies and birds were gorgeous, and so many of them. We weren’t lucky enough for any of them to land on us, but we did see a woman that had one on her hat as she walked around. Loved the flamingos too. We were in and out in 30 minutes, so I feel it was very overpriced for the time spent. Tried to walk back through but we were walking against all other people directionally, so not a very successful attempt. Could not go out the exit door and circle back around. The gift shop was crammed full and hard to navigate, very overwhelming to try to look at everything. Did I enjoy it? Absolutely. Would I do it again? Absolutely not.

Amazing place! All the different types of butterflies all in the same place - just beautiful! And the different types of flowers and other birds. Everybody (staff) that I met were so knowledgeable. The best part was at the end where you witness new butterflies emerging from their chrysalis! OK, Scarlette and Rhett were so much fun to watch.

Absolutely a must for everyone!!! From kids to Sr citizens this is such a well done butterfly experience! AND the flamingos!! Oh my they are a bonus!!! Loved being up close to them!

This was a cruise port for us and it didn’t disappoint. We took our twin 4 yr old granddaughters and it will be something they will remember forever. After buying tickets you can go back through the building as many times as you like.

The garden is very nice. We quickly went around but he makes you want to sit down and enjoy the tranquility. It's very nice to be surrounded by butterflies flying around you. Butterflies can be seen eating or resting. Really good visit but too short

My husband and I were on an anniversary trip throughout Florida. This butterfly house was one of my favorite stops. It’s quaint and VERY humid, however, I just love how many butterflies, birds and turtles there are to observe. There is a sweet little bench area you can sit and appreciate the critters, and of course, the flamingos. The gift shop has so many beautiful options at the end of your visit.

A must see in Key West. One of the most serene places. Staff is very knowledgeable. Spend time sitting among the butterflies and plants. You won't be sorry.

Very neat experience and glad we went. Butterflys, plants, flowers, birds, and turtles. Very well maintained and educational. Can take as long as you want to walk through or take 15 mins if you want.

This is a small but mighty place. It is absolutely stunning. We completely understand not to touch or grab at the butterflies. Almost every adult was touching them (to my surprise) and my 5 yo kept asking why the adults can touch but he can’t. Yet the staff said something to my kid (who is special needs) twice when he didn’t actually touch them (he was pointing to show me). Go bark at the adults who aren’t listening and not the kids who are!!

I got free admission because it was my birthday, which was incredibly kind and appreciated. It's a terrific butterfly/nature house, with so many butterflies, birds, and some beautiful flamingos. Very relaxing and enjoyable.

What an oasis in the middle of Key West. It was very crowded when we visited so it was difficult to linger, but this is someplace I could spend an entire day in awe and wonder.

This is good activity to do on a rainy day. Need about 30 - 45 minutes to explore the butterfly’s. Wear light weight clothing because the temperature in the conservatory is 80 degrees and it’s humid.

Fantastic experience with so many butterflies & birds plus two beautiful flamingos! Walking through a lush rainforest like environment you’ll see so many brilliant colors on the butterfly wings. Lots to learn also if you take a minute to read all the information available.
Cool gift shop that includes real butterfly display art pieces.
Great visit for all ages.

There were so many butterflies, birds, and flora to see. In addition there are a pair of flamingos and turtles as well. We went through twice, as once was not enough (no additional charge to walk through a second time). The store has lots to choose from if interested in making purchases. A great way to experience nature in a controlled setting.

So many amazing butterflies and birds! The plants in the garden were amazing too. There were butterflies everywhere and I really liked seeing the Chrysalises were fascinating too.

Beautiful! A great tranquil break from the city energy. The Conservatory was peaceful and beautiful. One of my favorite activities on Key West.

Talk a walk with hundreds of beautiful butterflies, all the colors of the rainbow. The flamingos were a treat to watch and keep your eyes open for turtles, fish and colorful birds!

A must see, this was our 3rd visit and still wonderful A great way to get out of the heat and enjoy the beauty of nature up close

This is a very simple place to spend an hour or so in Key West, and it's not to be missed. There isn't much to say about it, except that you walk into a large, high-ceilinged enclosure and you're suddenly surrounded by clouds of magnificent butterflies. There are also birds, including ibises, two rather raucous pelicans and -- my personal favorites -- some tiny Chinese button quail. The staff are all very helpful, happy to explain what you're looking at, and it is, or at least can be, an educational experience, but for my wife and myself, it was simply the pure joy of being in the presence of these astonishingly beautiful creatures. A tip: If you hang on to your ticket, you can return the same day, as my wife and I did after lunch at one of the nearby restaurants. Now a suggestion for the management: Please make the Do Not Touch the Butterflies signage ten times larger. It was painful to see visitors touching, and probably killing, these fragile creatures.

The butterfly observatory is not what I expected. There are many butterflies flying around and just watching them in their habitat is truly amazing. If you’re looking for a place to cool down this isn’t it…the temperature is a constant 80° and 80% humidity. A definite must see if you are in Key West.

The Flamingos are a hoot. (NO PUN INTENEDED) as the male hooted the whole time we were there. BEAUTIFUL PLACE! I had a butterfly poop on me. Was told by staff that was good luck!

Rhett and Scarlett the flamingo were cool. The amount of butterflies and bird were so interesting. The butterflies are beautiful.

This was the highlight of our trip to Key West. The butterflies were everywhere! There is an abundance of plants and birds in the conservatory. We walked through 3 times and saw different things each time. They have 2 flamingos and 2 turtles there as well. A wonderful experience for both of us.

It was amazing to learn all of the different species of butterflies and birds within the Conservatory. We also enjoyed meeting the resident flamingos, Rhett and Scarlett.

Nice place to enjoy some beautiful butterflies. This is a walking tour through a very humid and warm terrarium but worth the sweat - ha. No, really, it's pretty, and if you like to have butterflies fluttering all about you, you will love it!

This was a must do for this trip and it lived up to the expectations. It is a quiet escape from busy Duval St. The butterflies are beautiful and the two flamingoes and several small birds were fun to watch. The workers are friendly and patiently answer questions. A great way to spend half an hour ( or longer).
Things to know: I went early and it wasn’t busy yet. I also learned that the butterflies are more active before the day gets hotter. Having said that, it was much cooler inside than I expected. Assumed it would be as hot as outside but it was not’ maybe 20 degrees cooler. Gift shop is fun too!

Definitely a place to explore when in Key West. Such a beautiful place to see so many butterflies birds fish turtles and flamingos (Rhett & Scarlett). Our granddaughter loves the flamingos and we try to go every time we are in town. This trip I had a few butterflies land on me and I felt so special. The blue ones are always my favorites. Definitely go if you get a chance.

We loved this Butterfly Conservatory. We were amazed at the variety, colors and number of butterflies flying around. There were also beautiful, colorful birds and a cute flamingo couple, Rhett & Scarlet. The Butterly enclosure is beautiful with colorful plants and flowers. There are several ponds and flowing water. There are benches where you can stop and sit and watch the butterflies. We were sad to hear that butterflies only live about 2 weeks. We didn't have kids with us and we loved it as adults. They also have a large gift shop with all things butterfly. Adult admissions was $13.98. Takes less than an hour. Would highly recommend stopping in if in Key West

You will enjoy the butterfly collection, the layout, and the staff and docents. Good photography place as well.

My husband wasn't really bothered about going but I dragged him along, he absolutely loved it. It's like entering a different world! So many different species of butterflies and moths flying around, plus so many birds I had only ever seen on photos. We took over an hour walking slowly around admiring it all. There's plenty of seating too to rest and take it all in.

Spent part of an afternoon wandering through the butterfly conservatory this week. Delightful! 1600 butterflies all loose in the habitat, one tried to hitchhike its way out on us when we left. Simply amazing to be surrounded by so many butterflies, loose! It helps to sit down on one of the several benches provided to take it all in. Nice background music.
Birds in there too (not butterfly eaters!), flamingos and a tortoise! Beautiful gardens in the habitat, orchids growing wild. All staff very knowledgeable, helpful. A “hatching” house included at the end of the walk. A wonderful place to stop and be with nature! With the gift shop, about 1-1/2 hours of your time. Worth it! Highly recommend!

Well worth a visit. It's like walking through a snowstorm of butterflies. There are also a couple of flamingoes and tropical birds.

So glad we stopped here. There were MANY butterflies fluttering around. The flamingos, gecko, and baby quail were an extra treat. This is a great was to cool off a little on a hot day, too. The butterfly area takes less than an hour to go through. Including the gift shop, we were there a full hour.

Fun family stop on spring break. It was so fun to have many flying around us. It was crowded and movement was a bit challenging, but otherwise an amazing experience!!!

Top notch attraction in Key West! We did the Flamingle and met Rhett and Scarlet! So entertaining!
Fun for all ages!! The butterflies and birds are everywhere!! So many different species!!

This was the highlight of our tour. Many more butterflies than I remember. We took our time, sat on a bunch and these fabulous miracles of nature sat on us. We loved it.

Not a huge attraction but definitely worth it. Butterflies everywhere, seeing the stages of hatching is fun.The birds and flamingos are pretty but the birds like to stay near the ceiling making pictures hard to get.The turtles were nowhere to be seen when we looked, but all in all a good experience.

This was an unexpected gem on our visit to Key West. It is magical and felt like a therapy session walking through the building. There is water running, soft music playing and beautiful butterflies everywhere. The only improvement would be they need more than a one stall bathroom; it is woefully inadequate for how popular this attraction is. Waited in line for the one stall women's bathroom for quite some time. Other than that, everything about it was a very positive experience.

A visit to the Butterfly Conservatory is special for anyone, any age! Our family really enjoyed the enchanted greenhouse where butterflies swirl all around you. There are so many beautiful birds and plant species to discover. The gift shop and staff were great. Highly recommend!

Expectations were honestly low, however, it was truly a great experience. The biodiversity in this small space was just amazing. I did not expect the butterflies to be so active and prevalent, but they were great. The flamingos were beautiful and the other birds were so colorful as well. Great stop!

Having seen several butterfly conservatories, this one was the best by far. Upon entering, an abundance of diverse butterflies begin to fly around.

There were almost 30 of us and it was wonderful!
The weather, food and atmosphere are fabulous!
Looking forward to next January!

I did not want to go, but my sisters and mom did so I played along and happily went.
I LOVED it! Went through twice. Just beautiful and peaceful. Butterflies EVERYWHERE. Very active!
Would highly recommend
Free parking on one side of the building, paid in the other.
Gift shop too is neat and everyone working is so helpful.
They sell postcard stamps too.

So pretty and idyllic! There were thousands of butterflies, it was a little overwhelming when you first walk in with the sight. I’ve visited butterfly gardens before but this one was definitely the best, so glad it was recommended to us.

The Butterfly and Nature Conservatory was my wife’s favorite attraction in Key West.
The conservatory is basically a beautiful indoor greenhouse (with high ceilings) with lovely tropical plants arranged in a natural setting way with hundreds (thousands?) of butterfly’s. We particularly liked the big blue ones. There were also beautiful small colorful birds. Very worthwhile attraction to visit.

Our family enjoyed our time here. We spent about 45 minutes. Reasonable cost. The birds were actually more beautiful than the butterflies, but everything was lovely and magical.

Amazing!! The butterflies were so beautiful! Could stay there all day! The flamingos seemed very friendly and wanted selfies ha ha

I would rate this as a must see 5 stars. It’s absolutely stunning. The conservatory is filled with beautiful butterflies that are everywhere.

We loved this beautiful conservatory - walking through almost felt like we were in a fairy tale. Butterflies fluttering all around us were gorgeous, particularly the blue morphos. Lots of pretty tropical plants and flowers everywhere, as well as colorful birds, and turtles. The highlight was seeing the two boisterous flamingoes strutting through the small pond near the gazebo. If you reserve early enough you can book a "flamingle" after hours experience, but you need to reserve it months ahead of time. Would love to do that next time; you can check their calendar for availability. It took us about 30 minutes to stroll through taking our time and taking lots of photos; you can stay as long as you like. Check-in was a little strange. I booked tickets ahead online since you can save money on the price of admission that way. I showed both the confirmation on my phone and a printout showing our order number, payment status, and tickets to the girl at the front desk, and she said we had the "wrong thing" and needed a QR code. I showed her everything they sent me, so that was the best I could do. Eventually she found our names on a pre-printed list and let us in. Overall we were very happy to have found this beautiful place and look forward to coming back again on our next trip. You're not required to pick a specific time when you reserve online, so you can come whenever you want. This a great activity for a rainy day.

This place is so beautiful. Full of amazing butterflies that fly around you. All colors and types. It’s a cool place to visit for old and young. The vibe is so peaceful. I could stay all day.
Be aware that to park will cost $15. But that’s key west!!

Highly recommend this beautiful and peaceful place while in Key West. This is one of the best exhibits I have been to in years, and we have visited a few.
The multitude of different species of both butterflies, moths, species of birds, plants, and flora were fantastic. We enjoyed the coolness inside, which was just right after being in the heat. The employees were all very kind and helpful and were very informative. Thank you for the great service!
The gift shop also offers a wide range of many gifts and memorable things!

My wife is a huge fan of the Butterfly Conservatory and we have visited here before and if you enjoy nature and the beautiful butterflies you won’t be disappointed. We arrived about half hour after opening and it was already busy.Take your time going through the gardens it’s a cool experience butterflies are everywhere be alert not to step on any and sometimes they will land on you.Of course it exits into the gift shop which actually has some nice souvenirs to consider. If it’s your birthday bring proof for free admission.

Very beautiful place! You will see lots of varieties of butterflies and birds also very close the the southernmost bout

I don't usually give five stars, but I love this place. I could have stayed there for hours. So much to see besides the beautiful butterflies...colorful birds, flamingos, turtles, ducks, with lovely water features and plants. My husband went for me but ended up thoroughly enjoying himself. The employees are knowledgeable, helpful and friendly, especially a blond lady, who had worked there five years. Unfortunately, I didn't get her name. She answered my questions and showed me things that I would not have otherwise noticed...like a giant moth butterfly and a nest up in the tree. The turtles were hiding under the bridge so she brought some food to coax them out. This was by far my favorite place in Key West.

I have been here a couple times in the last fifteen years. It is still magical. The butterflies fly all around you. It is full of families who are full of wonder.

Thought that the admission price was a tad pricey for such a small conservatory. The garden was beautiful and their were an abundance of beautiful butterflys but because of the amount of people that were walking through, it was very crowded and you were practically on top of one another. Would of been more enjoyable if they limited the amount of people at one time going through so you could stop and enjoy what you were there to see rather than feel rushed. Very informative displays.

On Duval Street, between United St and South St, is the Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory. It is a calm, quiet oasis after all the crowds and busy-ness on the streets. On the way in I thought the admission was a little pricy, but it was so worth it!
Walking through the double air-lock doors was like going into another world. Butterflies were flitting everywhere! They share the space with several species of tropical birds and even some turtles.
Relax and enjoy.

This was by far the best butterfly conservatory I’ve visited to date. I’ve never seen such a populated one. Butterflies were everywhere. There were also some beautiful birds.

The experience that this place offers you is unique, you can observe this and other species up close. The pair of flamingos that live there also makes the visit even more pleasant.

Overall a good experience. Plenty of butterflies with also some birds flying around, plus two flamingos. Smaller than expected, especially noting the admission cost. The gift shop seemed bigger than the butterfly enclosure.

Small place, entrance fee reasonable. Beautiful place to visit. It was a lot of fun. Amazing butterflies, so many varieties. Beautiful birds and flamingos. Worth the visit.

My expectations for the Butterfly Conservatory were far exceeded the moment we stepped into the garden. It is absolutely like an enchanted garden with hundreds of exotic butterflies and birds all around you. A total treat for your senses! All this and fabulous plants, trees, flowers, bird houses, bird baths. This place is not just for kids—- this is for anyone and everyone who loves nature! A must-see while you’re in Key West.

My wife and I enjoyed it.
If you wear colorful clothing, you may be lucky enough to have a butterfly land on it.
There were thousands of butterflies and hundreds of birds.

Hmm... They call themselves conservatory but are actually a place barely the size of a 1 bedroom apartment (with kitchen, closet and bathroom). In that space, there are many butterflies as well as little birds and even flamingoes that have been captured and kept captive.
I cant imagine how or why they are allowed this.
Unethical. Please dont go.

I took two of my grandchildren we had a wonderful time
The butterflies and the scenery were breathtaking! We made some beautiful memories together today as a family. Carla Lee was pleasant and knowledgeable the whole staff was great! We had a blessed time!
I highly recommend to take your family here

We have done a lot of butterfly experiences and this was definitely the best! There were so many beautiful butterflies! They were everywhere! It was pretty amazing!

It was beautiful. The butterflies are all around from floor to top of trees. There are beautiful plants and water features, two flamingos, doves and other small birds. Nice place to visit, just don’t expect to be there more than 1/2 hour or so.

Amazing conservatory of butterflies and birds. Go early in the morning to avoid the cruise ship rush.
The museum also has a great gift shop with fun options for a souvenir to remember Key West.

This is a very nice butterfly garden. There is a variety of butterflies and examples of various stages of development. The staff and signs provide education about the lifecycle as well as behavior, diet and place in the environment. The butterflies are friendly. There is a very well stocked gift shop. This is a wonderful place to visit.

This is a magical place! It’s like walking through an enchanted garden. This shouldn’t be missed. There are 2 pink flamingos

My son and I decided to visit here one afternoon in Key West. It is very beautiful and a peaceful activity. The butterfly and bird area is very hot and humid, so don’t just walk in here to cool down because that you will not do here. They keep the area very well maintained, and you can tell that they take very good care of their occupants! There is also a nice gift shop!

The sight of so many butterflies was breathtaking. It was a little crowded being a cooler day around noon. Still well worth a visit.

We went through 3 times to enjoy everything there was and try to get the perfect picture of the blue morpho butterfly. Don’t miss it!

🦋A must see in the Keys! Tropical
Paradise! Knowledgeable staff an gorgeous butterflies and flamingo:-) Affordable and a nice break from the sun!

We are never disappointed with our visits. Beautiful flowers, butterflies and birds, with friendly and knowledgeable staff. A must see for the entire family.

Pretty much at the end of Duvall Street close to the ocean, can't miss this charming old house converted to a butterfly sanctuary.
Very hot inside & a little high in price to enter @ $18 per adult.
But if you love butterfly 🦋 this is the place to go

Coolest experience that everyone needs to do. The birds, Flamingos, butterflies, everything was amazing! The plants were so gorgeous. The gift shop was amazing too, wish I was a millionaire to spend in there

This was such a beautiful and fun visit - amazing to see so many butterflies, birds, flamingos and gorgeous plants up close.

It was a wonderful experience visiting this place. The Conservatory not only has many different species of butterflies, but also has many local flowers, plants, two flamingos, turtles, and many beautiful birds. The staff there are very friendly and knowledgeable, answering any question you may have. It does get crowded, so go there early. I bought my ticket online, which came with two dollar discount.

Wonderful short experience of about an hour. So many butterflies and birds within tropical vegetation. Will definitely return. You can return for free on the same day with your receipt.

Take the whole family or go by yourself to enjoy the wonder of nature. You enter a different and wonderful world as soon as you enter the butterfly conservatory. Buy a beautiful identifying poster for around $3.00 at the ticket office so you can identify butterflies and birds you are watching fly around. Take your time and just stand still and observe (if still a butterfly might land on you!). Look in the windows before you leave to see all the chrysalis hanging and watch some hatch out while you watch. This was a favorite stop for my husband and I. Very nice gift shop too.

The butterfly conservatory was beautiful. The tour guide was great. The place was not only beautiful with the butterflies, flamingos, turtles, and birds but so calming.

I loved our visit to this small conservatory. There was a small variety of butterflies in the conservatory but I loved the tropical birds so much more. The birds were so colorful and I had never seen any like them before. The flamingos (Rhet and Scarlet) were also entertaining as Rhet was courting Scarlet with lots of talking and feather waving displays.

A jaw-dropping experience to have a trio of big blue butterflies flutter right by as you walk into the lush greenery. They were everywhere! I was moved to tears watching the faces of people as they entered.

It was awesome to see many species of butterflies, my daughter loved it but it was a very short tour. The price was decent just take your time walking through the exibit.

A wonderful visit where you enter through an educational lobby with butterflies on exhibit - but why aren’t they identified? And no details inside on which butterflies you were seeing and where they were from. Suggest they think about that.
You enter with flocks of butterflies swooping around, lush vegetation, beautiful orchids. Later you catch a glimpse of pink and locate the flamingos. Birds and parrots are around.
They have a glass wall where they have the chrysalis display. You should be able to catch a butterfly emerging or drying its’ wings.
Fun visit.

Absolutely beautiful place! Might be a little small, but it's for butterflies of course 😁 Lady at counter that sold tickets was super nice, probably friendliest face we saw in Key West. Everything is super well taken care of, and just a great experience

Great activity for all ages. The staff do an amazing job and it is an amazing experience you won’t want to miss.

This is a beautiful, calming butterfly and bird sanctuary. It is not large, but they do a great job educating visitors and allowing you to have a wonderful, immersive experience. I loved being surrounded by all of the exotic flowers, plants, butterflies, birds (including two flamingos).

I had been to butterfly experiences/exhibits before, but they were nothing compared to this marvelous conservatory. What makes it special? So many different types of butterflies, colorful birds, beautiful plants and flowers, the sound of running water and peaceful music. The butterfly displays prior to entering the conservatory were beautiful too. I liked seeing the numerous chrysalises on display before exiting. Nice gift shop too.

My sister and I enjoyed visiting the beautiful butterflies and birds. Highly recommend if you like nature. It was a challenge to get a good photo of the blue butterfly 🦋

This was a really pretty place to visit! Tons of beautiful butterflies, birds and flowers. We really enjoyed our visit.
I did give it 4/5 because I think admission was a little pricey. We probably only spent 30-45 min. There may be coupons or discounts available somewhere but I didn’t plan ahead. I would recommend looking.
However, I would recommend visiting, especially on a cloudy day. We went early in the morning and it wasn’t busy.

The Butterfly and Nature Conservatory was recommended to us by a friend of my wife. So glad we did it. Price is reasonable. Experience was outstanding. The butterflies and birds were beautiful. We toured fairly early on Saturday morning in early November. The place was not overly crowded at the time of our visit which made it even more enjoyable. What we experienced was such a relaxing experience. I found myself feeling so at peace just standing quietly watching the creatures. The colors are just mind blowing. If I returned to the area I would do the tour again. Lovely gift shop was a fun walk though, also.

So glad we went to see and be close to a variety of gorgeous butterflies all around us. Fun to see two flamingos there too!

We enjoyed the butterflies. It's not handicap accessible. Once you manage to drag the wheelchair up the steps into the building, it's ok. And the trolley stops close enough to walk, unlike everywhere else we wanted to go. Key West is not handicap accessible. If you find a ramp anywhere its going to be knobby and hard to roll over. The sidewalks are uneven brick in most places. Pushing a wheelchair is rough on the pusher and rider in this town and a walker is dangerous on the crooked brick. Fun was way too hard.

I love butterflies so I loved seeing them. They were everywhere. The gardens are so beautiful. Lots of beautiful flowers. They also have two pink flamingos there. A must see if you love butterflies.

The Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory is a beautiful, peaceful spot that’s perfect for a relaxing visit. The variety of butterflies is amazing, and it’s fascinating to watch them flutter around. The conservatory itself is like a little tropical paradise, with colorful birds and lush plants. The staff is friendly and helpful, making the experience even better. If you’re in Key West, it’s definitely worth a stop for a calming and unique experience.

My teen children and I visited the Butterfly and Nature conservatory. Of course, the only visited with me as I wanted them to have the experience. It was beautiful and enjoyable.

Such a cool experience and the employees seem to be passionate and care about their jobs! They have a cute gift shop and I’d 10/10 recommend visiting.

What a beautiful place! It is small, but packed with butterflies and flowers! I was in heaven. There were also various varieties of birds along with two flamingos Rhett and Scarlett. The conversatory is doing a great job of continuing to support the growth or I should say birth of these lovely creatures! I felt like I stepped into a fairytale. Take your time walking through and let the butterflies come to you. Highly recommend!

I loved this place. They have gorgeous butterflies and a very relaxing place to sit. It's not big, but it was gorgeous.

Beautiful butterflies, small tropical birds, flamingos, and turtles. This a really small conservatory. Even going through slowly, you will be in/out in 15-30 min tops. Super humid inside, but there are cool air fans blowing. $37 for two people. You can come in and out same day if you choose.

This place was so cool. Butterflies and birds, and a pair of flamingos as well. Beautiful butterflies. They have a video informative section before you enter and when you leave they make sure no butterflies are on you as one stuck to my husbands shirt. The gift shop is where you exit. Worth the stop in the keys. Just a reminder its hot in there along with the keys weather outside but still a great stop.

Parking is not ideal- so plan on possibly 20-30 minutes to find parking if you’re going to just the Butterly Conservatory- we paid for 2 hour parking on the street but the garden only took as an hour or less- so we walked around Duval street after, you could go to the Southern most point Buoy- we should have to just see it, but it was under construction - still a very long line to get a picture with it. I traveled with my 16 year old twin boys, and they loved it surprisingly they though it was very neat- seeing all of the different butterflies, the cost was affordable - and the flamingos were a bonus! Highly recommend if you’re visiting Key West.

This place was very small but absolutely packed with butterflies! There were also different types of birds, and the flamingos were going through their mating season (so there were cool dances to impress Ms. Scarlet). Definitely worth a detour if you're in the area.
The movie at the beginning was from a different era but still informative. It's in a cool place with benches where you can rest before heading into the hot and humid environment in the butterfly garden. You can go through the butterfly garden more than once; just show your receipt.
I saw that one TripAdvisor reviewer mentioned rude staff. We did have an issue with one man working inside the garden. A butterfly had landed near us and as it slowly walked toward my son's hand, that staff member flicked it off. He then proceeded to scold us about not touching the butterflies. Following the incident, he seemed to always keep a very close eye on our kid, so it was hard to feel welcome and have a good time after that.
By the way, you'll be offered a paper butterfly that you can stick onto your shirt just for fun. It's nice and everything, but be careful to not leave it on for too long. It was really hot that day, and after a while, the adhesive melted into my kid's shirt.

I was told about the tour before leaving for vacation, Butterflies! Really Butterflies!.. It wasn’t the first 20 things that came to mind going to Key West, but I’m so glad that we went. Birds, Flamingos and yes Butterflies, hundreds of them flitting around landing on you. Just amazing

What a beautiful place! The butterflies are all around you, there are beautiful birds and it was a very relaxing time. It took us about an hour- you could take as much time as you wanted. We loved it.

The Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory is a delightful attraction that's perfect for all ages. We easily reached it by taking the free Duval Loop bus from our vacation rental. Though there was a brief 5-minute wait at the entrance due to its popularity, it was well worth it.
Inside, hundreds of butterflies float freely through the air, often passing right by you in a mesmerizing display. We were pleasantly surprised to find exotic birds, including flamingos and colorful finches, sharing the space with the butterflies. The artistic elements throughout the conservatory, from sculptures to water features, add to the enchanting atmosphere. Don't miss the photo opportunities near the flamingo.
The temperature-controlled environment makes this an ideal activity for both sunny and rainy days. The gift shop offers an extensive selection of butterfly-themed merchandise and educational items, though it's easy to get carried away with purchases!

Wasn’t sure why this was rated so high on all the travel forums… now I’m sure. What a special place. So many beautiful butterflies in a lush, tropical garden. We could easily have spent far longer than we did.

Great place to see a large variety of live butterflies. Walking through the arboretum with a variety of butterflies flying around was very nice. I would visit this again.

With a few hours to spare, we had time to see a few sites. The butterfly site was very nice greenhouse to explore.
Great variety of butterflies and entry provides a great overview of butterflies.
Gift shop has a wonderful selection of children’s gifts, t-shirts, jewelry, and Christmas ornaments, since Christmas is three weeks away during my visit.

A nice place yo visit, but kind of pricey for a small attraction. Plan an hour to visit the butterflies. Very knowledgeable staff

One of our favorite places to visit in Key West. Spectacular colors, constant activity, birds and butterflies by the hundreds all over the place.

Experience being in a snow globe of butterflies! This place is a small oasis in Key West. A great experience packed in a small building.

I love butterflies so we’ve gone to a number of different butterfly houses around the US and this one is my favorite! So many different varieties of butterflies and colorful birds. The butterflies are very active. Highly recommend!

Made a point to check this place out after reading all the wonderful reviews and it did live up to the hype. I felt like a little kid again as I walked through what felt like an enchanted garden. It was absolutely beautiful.. loved all the butterflies, birds, tropical flowers and plants and of course the flamingos, Rhett and Scarlett. My husband wouldn’t have chosen this stop on his own but did say that he enjoyed it as well. The gift shop was very busy with some cool items for sale. Didn’t mind the wait at checkout, helped me avoid the torrential downpour occurring outside at the time lol

My child loves butterfly’s so this was a must on our trip. We also got to see a butterfly hatch which is apparently a rare site according to the guide. I would definitely recommend this stop if you are in the area. The staff is also very friendly.

This place was amazing! I loved it. There were so many varieties of beautiful butterflies that I wasn’t sure where to focus my attention. I thought the gift shop was the prettiest gift shop that I have ever seen. Please go here!

Ahhh finally I have made it to this beautiful Key West butterfly garden! After many trips that the timing just didn't work out, I had it as our first stop this time. I see some people in the reviews commenting that it is small or not worth the cost. I will say that it is an outdoor but enclosed garden, and the entire path which winds three times is short, but it is highly concentrated. Come and watch the butterflies living their best life, feasting on fruit plates and flying all over.
When you are here you can feel the delicate but intricately designed wings of all the butterflies and at any time there are up to 1500 butterflies in the garden. We were also quite amazed by some birds who were building a nest inside of a bird house. The flamingos are cool, they seem to hang out in the stream. Beautiful species everywhere you look, and great exotic plants.
Your ticket allows for multiple entries that day and we raced through the information gallery into the garden area. I suggest a return to that first room to digest it all and gain some insight, then another walk into the garden. Don't pass by the nursery, which shows where all of the chrysalises are. The garden hours are 9 - 4:30 and while it is beautiful there is so much to do here in this area and when visiting with the kids can really keep it moving!
While I find the price is fair, I do wish they had a teacher discount or a family discount. Also in the area we visited the Hemmingway House and the Southern Most Point. I have a travel blog where I give itinerary suggestions and share planning details freely. Link is in my bio.

An intimate nature experience. Wish there were more cutouts in the path to allow others to walk around you and to stop and explore. I felt as though we were rushing others to then feel rushed in any of the spots to stand out of the path and enjoy the butterflies and other wildlife. Staff were very knowledgeable.

Save your time and your money. I won't be rude and go into how bad my experience was here but it was not a good one. Just a huge tourist trap.

A quick experience but was something our whole family enjoyed. Friendly knowledgeable staff—the variety of birds and butterflies were really interesting and of course so many we had never seen or heard of before. Great gift shop with a variety of offerings for many budgets.

I am by character not a huge butterfly guy. But this was a really cool place to take the family. Really cool place to see and experience.

My friend and I decided on a whim to check this place out during our afternoon in Key West…and I’m so glad we did! It was like stepping into a magical world chock full of butterflies, gorgeously colorful birds, and exquisite tropical foliage. The flamingos were a fun surprise as were the turtles. There was a friendly staff member by the cocoon enclosure who was happy to answer questions and share her enthusiasm. I would highly recommend a visit. The gift shop was lovely as well.

Great selection of live butterflies. Maybe varieties of birds as well. Inside in air conditioning. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Parking right next door.

This is was everyone's favorite part of our trip to Key West. Even if you've been to other butterfly conservatories, this one is a superior experience. The employees were helpful and informative.

a must visit. You enter a room with lots of mounted butterflies & an excellent movie on butterfly growth & feeding. You then enter a tall glassed room at 80 degrees & 80% humidity. It is filled with over 100 various butterflies flying around you & often landing on you. They are feeding on plates of fruit, watermelon, banana, etc. There are also small birds & two pink pelicians. The room is filled with lots of plants 7 flowers. There is limited seating but you might sit or just stand to take it all in for 1/2 hour or more. It is an amazing experience.

Worth the money to see all the butterflies and birds. Little blue ones are the best, but also like the fat little quails! Be mindful of where you step though.

What a fantastic experience, well maintained, nice people this is a must visit don't miss it. Butterflies are beautiful

So I never quite made it to see the butterflies but the gift shop was my favorite place on the island to pick up great souvenirs for myself and loved ones back home. I visited twice — once on the first day and then on the last day, once I’d seen generally what else was available around the island. Beautiful items with a great range of options for all ages. And the staff were very friendly and helpful — one lady went upstairs to look for a different color of a necklace I wanted — and found it! Highly recommend.

We had our wedding at the Key West butterfly conservatory, and it was absolutely amazing! The venue was spectacular, and it was so easy to do. The staff is top notch— very professional. For the ceremony itself, we went through Southernmost Weddings, I highly recommend Ivanka! She made everything flow just perfectly.

Wonderful experience to see so many beautiful butterflies, tropical plants and flowers, birds, turtles, etc! Very relaxing experience and one which my husband and I hope to return to one day. Loved the gift shop too, but pricey.

Never have we seen so many butterflies! It was amazing. Highly recommend. Great gift shop. At first reluctant husband actually enjoyed it too!

We visited the Butterfly House first thing in the morning on a Saturday. The house was a reasonable size but not large. It took under an hour to complete. Plenty of butterfly variety, some birds and a couple of flamingos. Although very nice I did feel it was a little on the expensive side, though everything was in Key West

This was one of the better butterfly conservatories I've seen. It was really well maintained and an interesting display of birds, too; some beautiful bird houses.

It was fascinating walking among thousands of the most beautiful butterflys and being able to get up close to so many different varieties. I think it works for all ages of visitors
Highlight of our Key West Trip!
What an amazing place!!! You enter, and once inside there is an informative video, as well as informational plaques telling about butterflies. When you go through the door and into the tropical environment there are beautiful butterfly species flying all around. There are also gorgeous birds, flamingoes, and turtles. I could have spent the whole day in there! There is also a terrific gift shop
