Our group stayed several days on Lake Oconee for a family retreat. We are so use to a different type of Lake with Lanier and also growing up on lakes in Western Ky. What a treat Oconee turned out to be. So quiet, not nearly the boat traffic. It made for a very relaxing time. We checked out a local campground near by too and what a haul on catfish. We will be returning!

This was the vacation We had been waiting for
We had not been there in a little while, that's why I had every devise known to man loaded in the SUV. Yes can't wait for the wake boarding golf, swiming, fishing, eating, horse back riding, sking. Actually theres more you can do in just one vacation.

A peaceful and beautiful lake. We enjoyed boating and swimming. It was very relaxing and serene. We would definitely return.

My first time here ,I love the lake ,a lot of fun water sports for those interested ,and for those who are looking for some quality time with beautiful nature to kick back and just relax that's the right place to be.

The lake is beautiful, but this town lacks food options! There’s McDonald’s, a wing place, a Waffle House, a few smaller mom n pops places, and like 1 place with a steak. I called the Bistro for a pick up order and they were out of the first two things I wanted to order so I decided against ordering anything. Most of the restaurants had already closed by the time I left my business meeting. Moral of the story- go grocery shopping. Don’t expect door dash/ Uber eats.

Not much to do, people are awful and trashy, weather is extremely hot and humid. Remote, in a bad way.

Awsome lake for boating and visiting. One good option, if traveling, is to rent an AirBnb and park you boat at one of the marinas; or stay at the Ritz Carlton and they offer over-night boat parking on the water. You can store your boat trailer at the marina.

Great place to enjoy the lake life.
Plenty of great places to eat. Nice shopping areas.
People were very friendly.
Lake is great to ski, tube or surf.
Very nice place.

We have been visiting family at Lake Oconee for over 15 years. My teenage daughters have been visiting since they were babies and would rather come to the lake than to the Orlando theme parks (we live in Florida). There is something for everyone as long as you love the outdoors. We visit at all times of year and if it is too cold to swim in the lake then check out one of the nearby horse ranches or small towns.

Copperwood Pizza is the best kept secret at the lake. Tucked away behind Sweet Kneads(another favorite) off 44. They've only been open a couple of weeks on Friday and Saturday nights. Wood fired pizzas with simple fresh ingredients. I think they make their own mozzarella. Family owned and operated. Already our favorite place for pizza and a beer at the lake.

I'm a Florida girl by heart...so experiencing Lake Oconee for the first time was amazing!!! I have family that live there so I have been there in both, summer and winter seasons...I love the lake action with all the boats...jet skiing and fishing... Of course you got the BBQ places and a few nice restaurants...its a laid back town, Lots of friendly folks...so if your looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city...come check out lake Oconee...

The morning of the 4th he arrived around 10am and I walked him thru the property expressing my concerns he assured me everything would be taking care of before the end of the day. I remembered seeing the jet skis on the dock so I asked if we could rent them for the following day and he replied we don't do day rentals however I will rent both to you for 275 each for the day I agreed and gave him $550.00 cash. Upon my return from the city I walk thru each area to evaluate the work that should have been completed; most of the items were repaired with the exception of the pinball machine and the missing grill from the lower level. Speaking with the salesman the next morning he mentioned the grill needed repair and Home Depot had to send it out. After leaving the property on the 8th of July I felt confident that my family had behaved as expected. One week later I had to contact the salesman about my $750.00 deposit and to my surprise he mentioned three issues that I had to pay for stolen pinballs, toilet paper holder and a chair off the dock that wasn't ever there so I took the chance to ask questions about the broken and stolen merchandise. He stated not to worry about the missing pin balls as if he was giving me something or the broken toilet paper holder on the lower level however he had to charge me $350.00 for the stolen chair after speaking with the owners who were on vacation and upon their return a receipt would identify the replacement cost nothing ever followed so I call again July 21, 2014 and left a message for a return call about my deposit and yes he added more things a week later jet ski buffing, replacement of pinballs extra cleaning needed; what a character this guy is and to top it off he hung the phone up while I was speaking to him after we spent $7600.00 WOW!!!!! We went to the lawrence shoals recreation area in eatonton which is a lovely section of lake Oconee. For $5/car you can enjoy a small beach and swimming lake. Very few people...very quiet and relaxing even on a Saturday.

My brother and I, who lives in Augusta. meet at a golf course played 18 holes after that went over to my brothers' friends place on the lake spent two days roaming the lake and doing a little fishing lake is beautiful one day it was like a sheet of ice great time

Unless you are a guest at the ritz near by there is literally no great restaurants and the ritz wont let you in unless your a guest. Great lake but the area is desperatly in need of some upscale restaurants the pandemic has killed most of the ones that were at least descent. Maybe if Hollywood peeps move to be near Tyler studio this sleepy little town needs a big push in entertainment and food service.

My family and friends came to visit and have a good time we started to pick up our belongings wen this two ladies came on a golf cart screaming it’s 10 min past 8:30 and you need to get out or police will be called out here to get you out in front of our kids their age range from 6 to 10 and they were so scared , their attitude was so disrespectful and so out of place there was no need for any of it they keep yelling at us the entire time while we were loading our cars ; honestly it was our first time here and our last one as well the way they treated us just because we were little late it was unbelievable don’t come here if you don’t want to be yelled out the only reason why it has 1 star it’s because it wouldn’t let me put 0 but it’s a 0

We really enjoyed our visit to the lake and to the shops and restaurants around Greensboro. We are planning another trip in the fall.

One of GA's larger lakes with plenty of boat launch points and public beaches.
Nearly all the beaches have picnic tables and public charcoal grills.
Traffic on the lake can sometimes be busy, depending on time of year.
Public safety officers are on regular patrol and this keeps the boat etiquette on point.

My wife and I visited the Reynolds properties to vet as possible retirement location. The golf courses were all in amazing condition (I played the National and Great Waters). We took a pontoon out on the lake for a couple of hours. This was a great way to see the land from a different perspective. Some of the houses are outrageous!!!
Overall great trip and definitely a place to consider for retirement

We have been here 3 nights so far and as pretty as the area is (houses, lake) we have experienced constant noisy leaf blowers every morning at 8am until 5pm at night. They are the loudest leaf blowers I have ever heard and our family/friends of 6 cannot sleep in or enjoy a nice lunch outdoors or a stroll without crazy loud leaf blowers. In fact, my new Apple Watch advised me to leave the area as the noise level was beyond “safe” when I tried going for a walk. This is between Christmas and New Years too….is no holiday sacred enough to stop the leave blowing?!?

We visited and went out on the boat. The lake is beautiful and all the surrounding scenery is as well. We found it to be very peaceful. The lake is good for recreation, fishing, and just relaxing. I would highly recommend.

The drive on I-20 between Atlanta and Augusta is a pretty dull affair, a monotonous excursion through a seemingly endless tree tunnel. But at almost exactly the midpoint, Lake Oconee appears, and its 374 miles of shoreline beckon. There on a brisk day in early fall, the wave action on the pine-filled shores was a soul-rousing treat. Georgia Power provides a number of well-maintained access points, boat launch areas, and overlooks. Suddenly the mundane has been exiled, and the traveler longs to linger. The one downside is there is no direct access from I-20, so check your GPS or old-fashioned paper map carefully for the exit options.
Totally recommend
Such a beautiful lake, plus the local hospitality is amazing. I highly recommend coming to the area.
