LOOK OUT MOUNTAIN WAS AMAZING. ABSOLUTELY WOULD RECOMMEND IT FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY. View was awesome.

This place was absolutely breath taking!!
My only complaint is to do with some random truck driver that I intend to slander across the entire country š”
The guy has a semi tractor parked across two handicapped parking spots..... I had to walk from the very back of the lot on my PRESCRIPTION CANEš¤¬š¤¬.... believe me... that sucks
Again ...nothing to do with the attraction

The uniqueness is possibly worth the experience. (Especially for young families to show their children. ) Though our tickets were for a specific time, we waited outside for 45 min - 1 hour before boarding. Once on top, a shabby āgift shopā is what you walk in to. Observation decks were closed due to ice. (No fault of railway) There was nothing else there. Within walking distance more things were available. However, you could drive to the top without using the railway. For those with balance and ambulatory issues - I would not advise taking the railway due to the steepness of the incline entering and exiting the car.

We were just stopping overnight at Holiday Inn Express Chatanooga, while traveling south. Kaila was great At check in. However our reservation was lost so she rebooked us and all was good⦠Our room was nice but I donāt think our bathroom had been totally cleaned. The floor was spotted and someoneās tooth flosser was on the floor under the vanity. We were offered another room but were too tired to pack our cases and move. The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was hot and good. When our credit card statement was due however I noticed we were charged for two rooms.(assuming the missing reservation?) the manager has assured me the extra charge would be removed within 3-5 business days. Anyway, the employees were very personable and the beds were comfortable!

This was an amazing place to visit. The rock formations the trails the views were amazing and then the extra fairy tail land WOW... and then the swinging bridge. I would recommend this place to every one young and old .

I love driving around lookout mountain I always find something new to do. I have been to Point Park and the views are amazing. The stores are quaint and the homes in the neighborhoods are so different. Lots of trails and things to do if you want to walk around!

Coming from a "flat" state, this was an awesome experience for us. My husband and I went here and Ruby Falls in one day and had a great time. Lookout mountain has a long trail of sightseeing before getting to the actual Lookout Mountain section. Once there, we enjoyed some fantastic hot chocolate and just took in the amazing views. Definitely a place to go when in the area. Good tennis shoes are recommended.

Photos when googling Lookout Mountain are misleading. There are 3 separate areas with 3 separate entry fees and are more than walking distance apart. #1 is Rock City or the location with view of 5 states; #2 Ruby Falls and #3 Incline Railway (these 2 are in same vicinity). Chattanooga does a good job with signage so relatively easy to find when entering area.

took the incline railway - beautiful views - got tickets online for the first train at 9 am. it was the perfect start for our day before heading home. after breakfast at our hotel we headed for the train. we spent time taking in the view and learning about the history and made it back to hotel long before checkout.

We bought the Ruby falls and Rock City combo pack for $40, and Lookout Mountain was the better end of the deal for sure!! It is self guided so you choose your paths and pace. You get a cavern, waterfall, lookout point, wooden bridge and many unusual rock walkways to follow. The fairytale Cavern is beautiful with all the lit displays and music played in the background. This is definitely a fun excursion to do and is kid friendly. It is close to town so you have many restaurant choice to hit up after your tour.

This was are Second time visiting the view was awesome we had a great time will be back next time to explore more.

Good excuse for a walk ...the scenery is breathe taking ... Have to comeback for the fall.. make sure you go by the gift shop pick up something nice for the family don't be a cheapskate stay on the main trail and always always listen for bigfoot you never know where that guy's hide now

We were vacationing and stopped for the night in the area of Lookout Mountain off I-24. We decided to drive up to see and experience Lookout Mountain late in the day hoping to see a sunset too. We paid to park near the entrance, after having seen some neat residences perched on the hillsides and hilltop on the way up. Although this historic National Park was not manned, we entered feeling good we had our National Park pass with us.
What a "neat" piece of realistate some 1300 feet above the river and sprawling city of Chattanooga below. We walked the grounds, enjoying the view with war remnants and learned of the battles fought here for the "high ground" in the 1860's by the South and the North during the Civil War.
We searched out the restored Craven's House perched on the cliff face on our way back down, which was a crucial spot for the attacking troops.
We decided to pass by Ruby Falls on the way, which appeared to be more visited, based on the full lots. We also are not big on cog railways, so we tested our transmission and drove up. Glad we did. It let us explore the many cool houses located here "up in the clouds".

We loved our visits here. Its beautiful and I can't wait to visit again. We discover new places each time we visit.

Beautiful landscape. Breathtaking. Enjoy some ice cream as you enjoy a breeze and learn about interesting facts concerning recent history of the property and the area.

Nice park. Wonderful views. Lots of walking up and down hills and stairs, all stairs have railings. wear good comfortable shoes.

A truly trippy experience. Winding paths through valleys and cliffs and it just kept going. An eclectic experience we haven't seen since House on the Rock in Wisconsin.

Nice outdoor walking tour of the gardens. Beautiful views and worth the visit. Prepare for lots of walking and lots of stairs.

Visited here for evening Christmas Lights exhibit with grandchildren. We have come here before in the spring when they did evening events with characters but they did not do this in spring of 2019? The Christmas exhibit was similar and they did provide over the top lighting exhibits along with seasonal characters. I like this walking option over the drive thru type Christmas Light venues because it seems like a more ānatureā experience and kids these days can use the walking experience! It was all exhibited beautifully in addition to the natural views of Lookout Mountain. If you have not done this Park I would highly recommend it we live closer to Atlanta but enjoy the nature and views of the foothill mountains! We did bundle of Lookout Mountain, Incline Railway & Ruby Falls.

We went on December 26. The weather was warm, causing an added increase in the crowd, but it was more busy than I expected. It's still a beautiful place and and the lights were nice, but some weren't working. It is a spectacular place, but I'll check the times more carefully next time. Also. the price was a little high, I thought - $29 per person.
We did the incline also, fun and interesting.

We found this to be a great spot to visit. The history shown through the monuments and cannons with breathtaking views. There is a small āmuseumā there; however it is mostly pictures of the men and area.
Beautiful views of the surrounding areas which go on for miles upon miles. Well worth the visit!

Love the overlooks from Point Park. Is it worth $10 per person to enter? No. It was free with a national park pass for my daughter and me. Parking can be a fiasco. Meter was down so we didnāt have to pay for that either.

Great for making family memories. Tour at your own pace. See 7 states from here weathering permitting. And we had great weather.

Ride the Incline Railway to the top for a real adventure. While at the top, make the three-block walk to Point Park, part of the National Park Service. Lots of Civil War history and sights.

My wife have visited aquariums across the US. And abroad, but this one is just awesome.
First the location downtown was a perfect quick walk from our hotel the Edwin.
Next once you pay to get in, you can visit the river side or ocean side which are housed in separate buildings. If you would like to visit one side leave for lunch at one of the many locations near by, you can do and then return the same day with no additional fee.
The price is reasonable as far aquarium prices go. Great place to visit.

We took our kids (5 & 3) when the gardens first opened and that was a great choice. There were others there but not crowded. Our kids had a great time! The trail is family friendly and safe for little kids to walk, while also providing lots of little things kids love - swinging bridge, fairyland cavern, fun views, crevices to walk through.

Weāve been here twice, once we took the rail up and the second we drove up. Rail is nice but driving up is so much better!! Take the roads up to the top. Donāt stop at rock city (unless you want to) keep going up. GPS to the incline gift shop and it will take you right to the top. Street parking available.
Beautiful views! Worth the stop.

A friend recommended we go here while we were in the Colorado Springs area. But after going, I can confidently say that it would probably be better in the evening or even nighttime when the city lights come on. During the day, everything just looked a little bland. If you're short on time, I would skip this one and visit any one of the other more interesting attractions in the area.

There are other free hikes and view points, which are equivalent or better than this one...Here there are amenities like restaurant, free parking etc which makes it more convenient. Paid (Expensive) Guided tour is good if you didnt read much online or research on Chattanooga and its history.

Rock City is a must see. We visited during the day and then went back for the night tour of Christmas lights. Canāt wait to come back next year and bring our grandson.

This place is Awesome! You can see 7 states from the lookout area. You can see the tops of the mountains and look below and trees and they sight is just breath takingly beautiful!!

We did the Rock City and Ruby Falls combo on a cooler day that rained in afternoon. What an adventure to behold. Both were spectacular, each in their own unique way. Fortunately we timed it perfect. Although it was a cooler day the sights at Rock City were amazing and just the trek to the lookout, swing bridge, waterfall, Gnomes, you name it. As we left it began to drizzle. Off to Ruby Falls and this was simply spectacular. Could not imagine being Lambert and team as I would have backed off long before finding the falls. My husband was in absolute aw and cannot stop speaking about "how my wife can find an underground waterfall the size of the Empire State and it was spectacular". Well, well worth the time, money and adventure. Truly glad we were off peak but know it would be worth the wait in Peak season.

This is such a great fun place for anyone of all ages I love that all the Christmas decorations and lights were still all set up.

At the top of the mountain, point park has a visitors center and small museum. (Hint: getbyour NP passport stamped here)
It has a small walking paved trail and other trails that lead you down the mountain. Old out buildings and monuments.
Stairs to craven house is not pet friendly.

Grand views abound when you drive to the top. Parking is expensive, $8 an hour at the Inclined Railroad top station! But... if you are visiting Point Park at the north end, parking at this National Park is free in the lot behind the Park shop. Incredible views on both sides. Go early when it's still cool!

Incredible view from the top of Rock City. Ruby Falls requires an on line reservation weeks before your arrival for admission. Take the short route through Rock City unless you are able to walk almost a mile up and down stairs through rock formations

Here is my take on this trip, I wish I planned differently
Two tourist traps I just don't recommend, Ruby Falls and Incline railroad. Ruby Falls is a very crowded man-made cave that leads to the falls one way in one way out and not very informative of how it was formed more about how it was discovered there is absolutely no time for questions you're basically rushed in and rushed out so the next group can come through, incline railroad you can get that same scenery by hiking, if you're not a hiker then I guess incline railroad could be an option.
The hiking around lookout mountain and Rising Fawn Georgia is just incredible and wish I left more time and less for the two mention above.
Lots of cool breweries, but like many restaurants way understaffed, and struggle at peak times. Do your homework on hiking trails, lots of hidden gems beautiful waterfalls and amazing boulder trails. Stay far from the tourist traps so much more to offer on the trails. Really is a beautiful area to explore.

Lookout Mountain and Rock City were beautiful and amazingly done. Finding your way through Rock City, looking for gnomes around every corner, is so much fun. Be careful for Fat Manās Squeeze!! Finally when you reach the end of Rock City you are on top of the Mountain. The view is indescribable and something that Iāve wanted to see for many many years, it exceeded the childhood fantasy I had created. We had an absolutely wonderful time and will go back again!!

The park service provides a nice park. Monuments to the battles of the Civil War are present The walk to the best viewpoints requires descending a lot of stairs, which of course have to be climbed again as you leave.

I visited the park after spending half a day at Chickamauga in Georgia. During an excellent ranger introduction, we were lucky to see some of the finest panoramic views that Chattanooga has to offer -- four states and more than 100 miles. The most interesting point: Ranger White explained why Chattanooga was key to the South ā it had roads through the mountain passes, four railroad lines linked to crucial Southern cities like Memphis and Richmond, and water transport via the Tennessee River. Lincoln said capturing it was as important as capturing Richmond. Despite parking hassles (the kiosk is near the park entrance and it requires you to enter your license plate number), very informative and worthwhile!

This is a great day-trip adventure for anyone! They even have a ADA trail. We enjoyed walking along the trails and seeing the amazing rock formations and waterfalls. There is pleasant music playing as you walk and inside the different caves was magical! There are several resting stops and restrooms along the way. Also there are at least two cafes, one Cafe 7, is atop the lookout. Would definitely recommend this sight-seeing stop.

This area is breathtakingly beautiful. There are many attractions and scenery for tourists to enjoy in this area. Highly recommend. Plenty of campgrounds and nice hotels.

Wonderful place, a real treat to visit. Easy walking and beautiful views, a must visit place when in the area.

If you're a little older or not in the greatest of shape, there are shortcuts to get around. We pretty much did the whole thing, including Rock City, Incline Rail, and Ruby Falls. We were exhausted, but great memories.

Went to Point Park at Lookout Mtn. The views we're good. It was a bit foggy from the rain but it was still a good experience. Point Park costs $10 to enter and has some trails and monuments. It was a civil war battlefield so there's info on the battles fought there.

Business trip took me to Chattanooga for the first time. Astec Industries had me stay in the downtown area at the wonderful Westin hotel. Great location with many place to eat within walking distance. Ventured out to Mission BBQ and it was well worth the short drive. Nashville was only a couple hours away and was able to enjoy a wonderful weekend there

We did the Bluff Tail to Sunset Rock. The trail was great, moderate climb, one small spot we took a wrong turn, but after backtracking, we saw the correct trail. The views were beautiful. The drive up to the Craven House to start the trail was terrifying! Single lane, S-shaped, straight up hill, no idea if it was one way or not, so thankful no one was heading in the other direction!!

Rock City and Lookout Mountain, so worth a visit. Rock City is a weird/wonderful place that just has to be seen, well worth a visit.

My dad and I went to Look Out Mountain after visiting Chickamagua. I heard and read a lot of amazing reviews about this place. All of the positive things were accurate. It is picturesque at the top. I cannot believe Union troops drove Confederates out of such elevated ground. It was a great visit and enjoyed it a lot. I recommend a ranger program. I did one at two o'clock with Quenton and he helped explain the broader picture and helped me understand the area.

Beautiful views from the top of the mountain although much different than my memory of visiting 55 years ago. Now the view is primarily of the city of Chattanooga and the landscape is further in the distance. We avoided the incline and other tourist "traps" based on reviews I had read on T.A. So we drove up the mountain and went to the park at the top of the mountain. It used to be free to visit but now the National Park Service has taken over the park. I assume there is some upside but all we saw was expensive parking ($8-$9 per hour) and a $10 admission fee. However, there was no ranger on duty so the admission fee was expected but with no enforcement. Since we were visiting from central Florida to see the changing leaves, we were not disappointed and the views and drive up and down the mountain were excellent. Well worth the time - especially if you are interested in the Civil War as Chattanooga was critical in the Battle of Chickamauga.

Iām so conflicted about this place. I loved the mountain and the spectacular views it affords, but I hated driving the narrow, winding roads. I canāt imagine commuting downtown every day. It would be my worst nightmare.

This is one of the most beautiful views in the country. From the summit of Lookout Mountain, you can see a lot of the Tennessee River. Also, one should not forget the Civil War battle that was fought here. I cannot imagine trying to scale these heights with cannon and gunfire assailing you all the way. It would have taken a lot of bravery to make this ascent. A beautiful place with a great tribute to the men on both sides.

Very enjoyable. We enjoyed walking around the trails and bridges and caves. Very fun place to visit with the family.

Location very close to lookout mountain and ruby falls. Room was spotless. Front desk employees were very helpful with directions. Breakfast was Hampton inn standards. Warm cookies at night weāre an added treat.

Skeptical about the price but it really was worth it. Had a great time and great views. This was a fun experience with the whole family.

Lookout Mountain has always been that place that was on the way to Florida from Illinois. We live near the Shawnee National forest so seeing rocks with great views is nothing new. The Mountain is beautiful. I had my 12 year old with me so we were ok with the walk through the garden but was still a little drawn out to get to the crescendo of going to the lookout. The area is nice the local folks are as nice as can be with having thousands of people from all over the world running all over their Mountain the directions are only in English..

A must see! Go to Ruby Falls, Rock City and Point Park! If youāre able, do some of the trails at the park. Wonderful!

Whether you take the incline, or drive, Lookout Mountain has lots to see and do. The park was beautiful, and overlooks were fantastic. Rock City was fun.

I thought the entrance fee was a little expensive, but I'm glad we went. This place is really unique and beautiful. We spent about 2 hours there.

The views were lovely. The walking trails were easy to traverse. There are good views of the city. We chose to drive to the top instead of using the incline.

This was a very informative visit to the park. The park rangers were very friendly and provided a guided tour of the area. The area is rich in American history. Many want to skip over the not so pleasant parts of the history but this park brings it back into focus. A lot of Americans died fighting for a side or a belief. With the help of strong leaders this country was able to heal and move forward. Take the tour itās definitely worth the time.

This mountain had my husband and myself speechless. The scenic highway both up and down the mountain are worth traveling multiple times. Our cabin was up the mountain and was a great price. We took the Air BnB route. There isnāt grocery close to the top but there is a well stocked dollar general where we were able to get food, cleaning supplies, clothes, etc. It is perfectly placed. The mountain provides a breathtaking view at sunset and should be a priority for all visiting the mountain. We will say depending on your stat, make sure you have an all wheel drive vehicle. Our cabin was up a pretty steep hill but our BMW is all wheel drive and took it like a boss. Food options on top of the mountain are few but what is there is amazing!! The pizza and bbq are some of the best I have ever had and saying that a bbq is a big thing for us because we are southern born and raised, taking pride in our ribs! WE HIGHLY SUGGEST staying on the mountain and doing the attractions around like validating the Canyon, Rock City and Ruby Falls then heading over to downtown Chattanooga for some Greg food as well.

The views from the top are beautiful and thereās so much to do in the area. We went to Rock City, rode the incline railway and visited beautiful Ruby Falls. All of those were well worth the visit.

The Lookout Mountain area was the best part of our trip! There are so many fantastic family-friendly options and the scenery is absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to visit again in the fall ā it's definitely on my bucket list!

Outstanding place to visit on a clear day. The overlook of the valley is very special and outstanding. The civil war history makes the trip complete so review it before you go.

The gardens were stunningly beautiful! That alone was worth this trip but the staff was friendly and they were very accommodating and careful with social distancing and cleanliness. Great trip! Well worth it.

LOOKOUT IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON GOING TO LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN! My husband and I visited Lookout Mountain in October 2020. The attractions were wonderful but the City of Lookout Mountain is not maintaining their roads and our truck ended up in two huge potholes which in turn gave us two blown out tires and a broken gear box. Needless, to say this was a train wreck to our vacation. We did a police report and they lied to us stating the holes were for drainage. We spoke to the homeowner where the holes have been for a long time and she said this happens all the time and the city does not care. They were given money and approval to do these repairs in 2019 but neglected to do so. We used our insurance and filed a claim with the city and just now received a letter stating they are not responsible for their roads. Unbelievable.

Beautiful scenery; great historic value that should not be lost. Point Park had breathtaking views of Chattanooga and the valley below. Well worth the trip.

My family went to Lookout Mountain. It was GORGEOUS! The paths were easy to follow and it was so beautiful. My family and I enjoyed walking along the path at our own pace. I got many pictures. I also like that it is dog-friendly. My dog just loved it!

Truly a bird's eye view of whole Chattanooga area. Lovely drive I was there in the spring and can only imagine how gorgeous the foliage is in the fall.

God's country. Beautiful how God has made this masterpiece. Breathtaking and serene for anyone who stops by.

Iām glad we visited the mountain via the incline railway, but one up there, there wasnāt a great deal to do, unless we wanted to lay out another $10 each to access the fort park. Which we didnāt. Itās a 10 minute walk to a couple of shops and the park rangerās station which is worth a look around. But other than that, and the excellent views, thereās not a lot to write home about.

A must see! we thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful place. If you have kids we definitely recommend doing the trail with the garden gnomes and fairies . The Best part is the beautiful view of the mountainside and on top!!

Lookout mountain is really cool and a experience that everyone should enjoy.
We were on the fence when looking at the guide paper but was really special and worth the cost of admission.

Great natural beauty before dark, great lights for the kids after. Very friendly staff. Go early, traffic going up looked crazy as we were coming back down!

Hard to get to, was very expensive to park and almost no opportunity to view without being ripped off. We were there on a quiet day and left without getting the view as it seemed the views are locked by all the buildings and you had to pay to get to the lookout!!

Beautiful views and cool walkways. However, it all looks worn out. Not many flowers. Needs some updates.

I was brought to this beautiful place as one of the to dos on my Bachelorette weekend trip to Chattanooga, TN. The 9 of us came from Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas and Mississippi. We all had an amazing time! We kept moving to the side of the trial to let other go by because we were so busy taking pictures and soaking everything in. I want to go back and bring my kids next time. Lovers Leap was a spectacular view and if I were going to have a destination wedding this would have been it for sure!

Obvious reason for the trip is the beautiful view! But after getting there we were surprised by how much more there was. Fairytale area was creepy and amazing at the same time. We will definitely go back. If you have a dog, carry them! They will thank you. Highly recommend making this trip. (Wear tennis shoes)

Point park, Ruby falls, Rock City, and more. Also, the Incline . Steepest anywhere. Each a separate attraction. Respect the rights of the people who live on the mountain.

Enjoyed Rock City, hadnāt been in about 12 yrs. Still just as beautiful as ever!
We stopped by traveling North, definitely worth it !

Great views but not worth the time as those views can be had at other locations. Very congested even mid week Would probably not drive there again

Pleasantly surprised that itās a National Park. Got in for free with our lifetime pass. Terrific views and interesting history. You can park for free behind the information center rather than trying to pay for parking using the online app to pay for parking. No one could get cell phone service to actually use it when we were there.

My first visit to Rock City since 1955. It is an amazing natural formation with just enough kitsch to keep the grandchildren interested. It was a cloudy day so all seven states were not visible. Well worth the time and money. Entry ticket can be purchased in conjunction with other local attractions for substantial savings.

Stunning views! A must see and do in Chattanooga. Very interesting drive around this mountain, offering wonderful views, many places to visit, Rock City, Ruby Falls, Point Park, the Incline and a Starbucks at the very top! I am sure there is a lot more as you drive around and around and around. Loved it!

It is a self guided tour. You can not go up to the mountain without paying to see it. It was worth it though. It is great for kids also. It was a beautiful day to see it. The people that you had to work with were awesome. One thing that didn't happen was when we bought the tickets they didn't tell us where to go. So we started walking the wrong way. We ran into a worker, she was great, helped us get started on the tour.

Spectacular views and a must see for Civil War History buffs. Nice drive up and down the mountain and a surprisingly beautiful residential neighborhood on top of the mountain

It was very interesting to see for the first time. We really enjoyed our day, It was very hot and lots of people but it was a good trip if you have never seen it.

This was our 5 or 6 visit always so much fun
Even with the social distancing requirements
The fairy tale is my most favorite place !

We enjoyed our fall drive to lookout mountain. The view was breathtaking. Definitely go and take a look.

This is a must do with rock city in Chattanooga! There's so much to see, so much history!! The views!! Just ask around amazing!

Didnāt want to take incline so we drove. And drove. GPS was inexplicit and we never found a parking area at the top. Nice drive but after 20 min of going in circles we gave up.

Lookout Mountain is one of our favorite places to visit. The drive up and around the mountain provides incredible views of Chattanooga.
Point Park is a Civil War park located at the top of the mountain, though it was closed during the pandemic.
My favorite activity at Lookout Mountain is the Incline Railway. You can board the Incline at the base of the mountain in the beautiful city of St. Elmo. The ride up the mountain provides an incredible view of Chattanooga as well as the mountainside. The Incline stops at the top of the mountain near Point Park.
Other places to visit while on Lookout Mountain are Ruby Falls and Rock City.

I always wanted to go here but never had the time to visit. My sister planned the trip and we were able to go on a saturday. It is a long trip to the top on the train but the view is amazing.

Went here with my family. This consisted of me and my husband and our three kids aged 13, 10, and seven. Also had my sister and her daughter aged 13. And my parents we were both close to 70. Thankfully they can do you stairs and hills. These are probably not places to go for someone who has difficulty or inability to walk. That being said, we always have a good time! The views are beautiful.

Lots of fun for the whole family, even those that are mobility challenged. We spent a great 1/2 day trekking through the pats. Lunch near lovers leap was reasonable and the pizza was good. All in all a great place to visit.

We sure loved the hiking and there is even a cave!!!!! It isn't just any ordinary cave. The title is called "FairyLand" and the statues inside and history are just breathe taking. Now about the falls......that too was just amazing. It is called Lovers Leap. All in All.....this is a must see and experience place and bring the kids. Young or old. They will love it. Walking trails were good. Paved.

Very interesting. Having a nat'l park pass let me enter free otherwise $10 entry fee. Small park with a few trails and great views. Before entering here I went to the "Battles for Chattanooga" diorama &parked in the public lot there and got the battle information beforehand. Next stop (right next door) was the nat'l park office. We went through that, then ventured out to "Point Park area. Hiked down to the Ochs museum & observatory (many, many stairs) where there was some interesting displays about photography and The Cherokees. A small park, interesting. Although if I didn't have the park pass I would have a tough time justifying the $10 entry fee (my opinion)

While our trip was short to Chattanooga we didnt get to see a ton of lookout mtn but the views we got were awesome! Quite a few hiking trails in area and super peaceful. Now the roads are narrow and winding so I imagine during peak tourist times the area gets crowded and not as peaceful.
We for sure want to come back and explore more.

The view from Lookout Mountain is great but with the $25 admission charge to walk through a maze of boulders and rocks was not.
We could have done the same in many areas across America for free walking though the woods. The only good part about Rock City was the view but not worth $25.
This was a one-time visit for us. Not a reasonable charge for what they offer.

The views were great. But it was so overcrowded that it felt rushed to maintain social distancing. Kids everywhere and running into me. I donāt regret going but I wish we had a better experience

We booked our tickets for this attraction for the earliest time on a Saturday morning hoping the threatened rain would hold off and we were very happy that we made the visit. Lookout Mountain is beautiful and the trail is charming. An easy walk with highlights for us being the Suspension Bridge and the narrow gaps - Needle's Eye and Fat Man's Squeeze. The view from the Lookout is worth it.
The educational segment on Birds of Prey put on by a wife and husband team was very enjoyable and informative. We highly recommend a visit to Lookout Mountain and cannot wait to return.

Take a unexpected look into Civil War history at Lookout Mountain.
After you visit Rock City drive on down the road and visit the Lookout Mountain Park.
You'll be amazed by the views over Chattanooga and the unusual nature of the historic battle, which was the literal turning point in the Civil War.
Enjoy!

Went up to Lookout Mountain Point because we had a little time to kill. Wish we would have had more time. Views are amazing. So much history too. Just didnāt have enough time to take it all in. Iāll have to come back.

We came here with our dog and 2 year old and they both loved it. It was great to be able to experience this with our dog. Plenty of shade and just such a beautiful walk. See lovers leap, seven states, the fairy tale exhibits. Great way to spend 2 hours.

Very beautiful place for the landscape and ecosystem, excellent to visit with the family, even for those with children they will love the caves that exist in this park.

We went here for our anniversary and it was so pretty. Worth the drive up the mountain. Getting into Rock City. And looking out to the 7 different states at the top. A must see!

Great views and photo ops. Everyone appeared to be practicing safe social distancing but not all. Still enjoyed the visit and tried to avoid those who weren't wearing face masks. Highly recommend!

We stopped here on a road trip to see family. It was a gorgeous afternoon and the view was incredible. The traffic in the area got a bit heavy but it seemed to be from road construction farther down.

Such beautiful views of Chattanooga. If you go to point park, you can also learn some history. My little boy loved the views!

We enjoyed Ranger Jeremy at point park. He was an excellent speaker with a wealth of knowledge. We had a beautiful day and an overview of all the battles that took place

Not only is this an incredible place to view the city, but a spectacular history lesson as well. This is another MUST DO when visiting Chattanooga!!

If you care about mask wearing and social distancing, you should postpone your visit to Rock City. They said on their website and signs at the park that masks must be worn indoors. Lots of people were not wearing masks. And no staff commented. NO enforcement of mask wearing. So frustrating. This ruined what would have otherwise been a nice visit.
The views and gardens are lovely. The gnomes were cute. The fairyland garden was dated and creepy.
Definitely worth a visit, but if I had known how lax they were being about COVID precautions, I would have skipped.

You cannot see this unless you pay to get into Rock City. This is not a stand alone site to visit. We were on our way home from Florida and stopped in Chattanooga to do a few things prior to heading the rest of the way home. This was on our list. Directions took us directly to Rock City and you cannot see this unless you pay. We saw Rock City the last time we went through Chattanooga 6 years ago and didn't want to pay to see it again but thought this was a different site. Left very disappointed.

I would love to go again when the zip liner would be open. The cave tour was fun, not too long. Not at all too tough for those who are super your or super old. An easy walk for all ages on the cave tour. During the tour, try to stand near the guide to hear more or the highlights, if possible.

Our three children loved this place! I'm scared of heights and did fine here with the nice railings. Everything felt very safe. A very unique spot to visit if you get the chance. We went in January and found it nearly empty which was nice. Off season is a great time to visit.

Great views and interesting. We had Park Pass so got in for free. The ride up was twists and turns but we took it slow.

Great place to hike with your family and study history too. There are a lot more to do if you want to spend the money.

To get our bearings, we weren't quite sure where to head on Lookout Mountain. My suggestion for anyone driving: follow signs either to Point Park or the Incline Railway. They both lead to the top of Lookout Mountain.
If you want to take the Incline Railway, you must buy tickets and depart from the bottom of Lookout Mountain. At the top at Point Park one can view the Incline Railroad and for free walk to a wonderful observation deck where one can "see forever." Great views. The area is residential, so all parking availability is pay to park. Also on Point Park is the Civil War battlefield Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Park. The office closes at 3 pm, but the grounds are open until dusk.
The road up Lookout Mountain is quite twisty with lots of tight turns.

Spectacular view! I canāt imagine the beauty during peak fall season! For $26 for an adult, you can purchase a ticket for Rock City which will give you access to the rock gardens and lookout mountain. It took us about 90 minutes to walk the entire garden. We did stop for several photos so you wouldnāt have to spend that much time here. Grab a map so you donāt miss out on any of the paths/gardens. We were here the first part of November, my guess is that we missed the peak fall colors by 7-10 days. The colors we saw were beautiful, but nothing compared to what we could have seen had our trip been earlier. Take a walk out to lovers leap where on a clear day, you can see 7 states.

Was very nice weather for it. I am more a naturalist so I really enjoyed some of the natural rock features. Did not enjoy all the man made enhancements. But neat little place. My daughter enjoyed it also. But it is costly for what it is.

This was a beautiful place to visit. We were traveling from WI to FL and this was a stop to get us out of the car for a bit. The sights were amazing. Our kids, 4 and 9 years old, loved all the different paths to take, the views and the fairy garden area. Highly recommend. Food was pricey but nice to eat at the location. We bought our tickets ahead of time online for ease.

The roadside advertisements make it seek this is a real touristy experience. Its a unique way to bring the unusual geology of the south, often hidden in the hoots and hollers to all. It is beautiful and whimsical at the same time. As usual, you exit through a gift shop but it is remarkably restrained.

Beautiful views from the park on the top of the mountain. Interesting National Park Service exhibit that explains why this spot was significant to the Civil War.

$10 for admission and parking for another $11. You can easily walk around, snap photos, see what you need in one hour. We didn't feel bad about paying this much for such little time since Chattanooga battlefield had free entry.
Great views of the city, best we saw on our trip.

Loved driving around the neighborhood of lovely homes at the top! And donāt miss Point Park at the top, to learn about the Civil War Battle there! Spectacular views too!

Excellent experience even though we had visited several years back. All trails were well kept. Gorgeous views. Kids enjoyed walking the grounds as much as the adults.

Stopped for the night on our way home from the beach. Spent a good 3 hours in Rock City and it was a great stop. There is so much to see and do.

The CARTA free electric shuttle brought us to the foot of this mountain where I took the funicular railway to the summit passing some interesting sights, mature forests and homes. As we got to the top, thick cloud enshrouded us to the point it was hard to see from where we started. At the pinnacle, thereās a gift shop, mechanical engine room and viewing platforms? I had to use my vivid imagination to visualize seeing seven states from up there! My trip to nearby Rock City had to be cancelled! Pity!

It was a good view lots off civil war history shops were good and good experience but the mtn was sooooo cold but thatās probably because Iām from Alabama

What more can you say? I did not jump off lovers leap but I did look down. Great weather and low attendance the day we were there made it enjoyable.

I wasnāt sure how my 13 yr old grandson would like it but he loved it. He even liked the fairy tale exhibit. The rain obstructed our view but it was still beautiful. Lunch at cafe 7 was great!

Although the weather was cloudy we had a sensational visit. Around every corner was another wonderful view and marvel of nature. My wife took many pictures and we would love to visit again.

Beautiful views, especially in the fall. The gardens are really charming to walk through and the restaurant at the tops has decent options for lunch. Parking can get really crowded in the middle of the day.

Visited multiple places all around lookout mountain and they were all great! Highly recommend but beware the tight turns and inclines/declines driving around the mountain

Pretty hot in the summer time so make sure you have a water. This is a very busy spot and waiting for the incline cable car train thing can take awhile. It's cooler up top and we went a couple blocks up the sidewalk to Point Park & Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park. This was a nice hike with great views along the way.

Amazing views and a nice walk to get to site. I am 60 and was able to easily navigate my way to the destination.

You can see 6 or 7 states from here. Rocks of every color and size. Paths that lead to adventure. Loved it.

Really nice ways around the mountain with fairy touch. I can recommend. In the Summer Time they make wine tasting outside. In middle Jan weāre gone at 10am, on Thursday. Just a few people were inside.

If you are in the area a cisti to Lookout mountian and it attractions are a must. Point Park Cravens House, Rock City and Ruby Falls. You can even ride the incline railway to the top.

Chattanooga is a lovely place. I really like it. I am considering moving there. It is a growing area. Lots of new housing!

Was really impressed with this attraction. The spa type music as you walk through the mountain is so relaxing. Great way to unwind. Lots of walking involved. When you get to fat mans cave i think they called it?? I was a bit concerned i could not handle the enclosed feeling with so many people beside us . My husband was worried he also wouldnāt fit and get stuck lol. Thankfully its not as bad as it is, when you are looking down from the top. I love the fact you could see 7 states from the top of the mountain. Though i was disappointed their binocular machine was not in use for people. Not sure if they removed these or if its due to covid. Cause who knows at what point it spreads through eyes looking out and another person looking in the same spot. ( aggregated sigh ). so if going anytime soon be sure to bring your own binoculars. They also offer things to eat up at the top of the mountain. Thatās a nice touch. Nice way to sit on the mountain top and look out and enjoy lunch. The people who work here put a lot of time into this. So much to see It will def take you awhile to get through it. We did ruby falls and lookout mountain in the same day but thats about all you would have time for.

Something one should experience.. beautiful views, relaxing & you meet wonderful people along the way!

We stayed for a week out on Lookout Mountain and really enjoyed all that there was to see, do and eat. A surprise find was Cloudland Canyon State Park.
A lot of vacation and rental homes in the area.

Gorgeous views, loved the waterfalls and swinging bridge, great spot to take in nature and even this late in the year some blooms

Its hard to believe there was ever a Civil War battle fought here. The logisists for the time must have put a real hardship on the average soldier. The views from the mountain give a commanding vision of the valley; this is a real must do.

Lookout Mountain is famous for the battle that took place here during the Civil War when an assault by the Union Army forced Confederate troops to abandon the strategic position. The following day, more defeat followed at The Battle of Missionary Ridge opening the door for the Union Army to enter the Deep South. There is preservation of the Confederate position that can be toured at Point Park. Cost is $10 or you can use a NPS pass for entry. There really isn't a lot to see here other than the small visitor center, a war memorial and some cannon batteries. However, Lookout Mountain also provides some impressive views of the surrounding countryside. It is said that you can see seven states from atop the mountain on a clear day. The best views are from Sunset Rock. I hiked the Bluff Trail from Point Park to Sunset Rock. It was a nice hike, but the clear highlight was reaching Sunset Rock. You can also access Sunset Rock with a short walk from a nearby parking lot. You can drive up to the top of Lookout Mountain, but it was fun to ride the historic Incline Railway. After arriving on the Incline Railway, and briefly touring Point Park, the hike on the Bluff Trail lasted for an hour and after enjoying the views from Sunset Rock, it was a 20-minute walk through a mostly residential neighborhood back to the Incline Railway for the ride down. Keep in mind that even if you have a timed ticket to ride the railway up to the top of Lookout Mountain at a specific time, you will have to wait in a potentially long line to ride down. I waited about 30 minutes for a train on a weekday in late June. I would think weekends are even busier. There are several other popular things to do near Lookout Mountain including Rock City, Ruby Falls and Granite Falls but I only had limited time and was not able to experience these.

I just recently revisited Lookout Mountain and it brought back so many great memories of my childhood vacations. The place hasn't changed much since then, and it was great to relive those memories.

The views are amazing especially during the fall season. Unfortunately, it is unsafe because there are no barriers to prevent accidents and fatalities.

This place was absolutely beautiful! The drive up to the mountain was a little long, but it was so worth it. You can see all of the cliffs, trees, lower mountains and landmarks. It was very organized and nobody could bother you so you can have a great experience with yourself or family.

Nice views, but limited parking and the gps was not taking me to the right direction so it took awhile to find and had to ask a local resident for assistance.

The mountain brings a sense of calmness and peace. This place was so beautiful!! The walk was so worth seeing the waterfall at the end. There were some walk ways that were narrow and skinny to walk through but for those who cannot for whatever reason they have a secondary way which was nice bc they thought it all out.
Family trip with teens and smaller kids !! Had a blast. Planning to come back soon.

Nice views Calming if there aren't too many people around. Worth a trip but not too far out of your way. I was at nearby Ruby Falls, which was great, so was glad I added this on.

This is only hotel at this exit. Evening food available at a weak Chinese restaurant in the adjacent nearly vacant mall and at two adjacent gas stations. One ice machine in the whole hotel. Our second floor hallway was very warm in the afternoon/evening. Several pieces of furniture, one in our room and others in the dining room were in need of repair. For breakfast pancakes were substituted for the standard waffles. Nice switch.

What an amazing view from the incline railroad! Lookout mountain had amazing view of City of Chattanooga. Wonderful experience!

Beautiful area, you can spend as much or as little as you want. Tons of touristy areas to pay for or drive around and explore for the free stuff. We did a little of both. Was a great anniversary weekend.

We went to Chantanooga to see the Point Park ath the top of Lookout Mountain. You have great views of surrounding river and the town. Take the incline railway from the bottom of the mpuntain and then visit Point Park.

We went during the covid pandemic and had to wear out mask while walking around. It was beautiful and the paths were easy to walk. Highly recommend. It cost $25.00 a person to get in & took us a little over 2 hours.

It was a beautiful, quiet area with very nice homes and some great views. It's worth the scenic drive around the mountain as you tour several of the sites.

Nice ride up the mountain...explored by car. Pretty breathtaking stuff! Point Park was closed due to covid, but plenty of places to stop and take photos.

Donāt miss 30 minute video at visitorās center about The Battle of Chattanooga. The views are incredible and a National Park. After seeing the endless road signs, we assumed it was tacky. Nothing tacky about Lookout Mountain.

We went to the Point park, but not much to see, we also went to the Rock City garden, which is much more expensive for the admission fee, but there is some view you can't see without entering the Rock city garden. If you just want to see the Tennessee river, or you want to see some battle-related things, you can go to Point park or even some place without admission fee. But if you look for some attractions/sight-seeing or things for visitors, then need to pay more

Fun spot to walk after the incline railway. We enjoyed looking at the houses, views and the park at the top of the mountain.

Lookout mountain at Christmas with the Garden of Lights is a must see! It is beautifully decorated and all ages will enjoy exploring this mountaintop. The snack shop with gourmet hot chocolate was delicious!! The lights and music were all just perfect!

For us this wasn't as exciting as we had thought it was going to be. You can drive to the top if you don't want to take the tram up the mountain. Then you can climb the stairs up to the top for the view. If you don't take the tram to the top you can take a dog with you up to the top as well. Overlooks the city. Which is kind of neat but it seems like really all the overlooks look over the city vs it being a mountain view.

must admit that we drove around quite a bit to find this destination. We finally agreed that this might be a neighborhood and you just explore rather than an organized location. We saw the views and read the placards...guess you should think of it as an adventure.

The drive up to and the views from Lookout Mountain are spectaular that it is easy to forget the tragedy wrought during the Civil War. So much history took place here; it is a "must see" for anyone interested in the Civil War.

Great views & great weather in September, the mountain was crazy busy on Labor Day weekend but a great visit. I would suggest visiting a little later when leaves are changing if possible.

After the long climb up to the summit and the gun placements on the ridge, it's a great shame when the top is shrouded in cloud and you can't see a thing. You would get such a better understanding of the battle that went on here if you could see the terrain below , the steep cliff faces and of course the views. So check the weather forecast first. Good details of the battle available and the inevitable gift shops.

Great time, we had brunch at Cafe 7, the food was excellent. Our overall visit was wonderful, I'm usually afraid of heights but the view was good and not scary at all. I would gladly return.

We took the incline train up the mountain, took in the breathtaking views atop the mountain and then descended back to reality.

We loved the views and got great pics. We will definitely come to hike here again and explore the many hikes available.

This is a must see. I don't think you will go back year after year, but I could see it being a generational trip. Just to see the amount of work that went in to this is incredible. The history and views are worth the trip. Make sure you see everything. It's not huge, but it is easy to get confused. Very view of the signs have arrows on them pointing you in the right direction. Make sure to visit the other historical places while you are on the mountain.

Our first visit was interesting. We thought this to be the noisier restaurant we have ever been to. It was difficult to hear each other across the small table. We both ordered red snapper. Hers was fine while mine was very salty. I mentioned it to server who called the manager. He was very appologetic, offered to take it off the tab. I declined but accepted the offer of dessert. They handled the situation perfectly. Our server, Amanda, was excellent. She was friendly, helpful, and efficient.pm

It seems a long trip up the mountain but it's worth the drive. Go to Rock CIty and experience mother nature at its finest. Not recommended for anyone with limited mobility as trails can be challenging. Skip the faster food; sit and eat at the "7" restaurant. Bring a camera. Well worth a day.

Yes, another over priced ancient tourist trap spot that should be well paid off from many years back and the price should be about a third to enter so not just the wealthy can visit but everyone. Really huge boulders and neat sites to see along the way. Loved the waterfall with the swinging bridge that goes by it for a good look at it. Fat mans squeeze is another great place as is lover's leap. Would NOT be a good place to be if we ever had an earthquake in that area of much magnitude but it hasn't happened for over 100 years so take a chance and go see this beautiful place.

What a great place to see so much history and a wonderful overview of Chattanooga! We learned and saw so much just driving around on this mountain each day.

Great small national park of a civil war battle field. Spend a little time to see where the units were located and what took place. It was very informative and enjoyable.

Absolutely gorgeous and worth going out of your way to visit. If you are there you have to also visit Ruby Falls! That is within the cave. The crowd can be slightly busy in some areas, but that is to be expected. It is best for couples adventures, or family trips. There is a moderate amount of walking so be sure to take rest breaks if you need to.

I love Rock City, ever since I was a child. I was concerned taking my kids (5&4) given the steps and ledges but it was great. As an adult, I thought the gnome theme was hokey but my kids absolutely loved finding them and seeing their cavernous workshops. We had a blast and they did too.

After one of the zig-zaggiest drives up a beautiful mountian, past a tourist trap, one will find a mountain memorial park with a breathtaking veiw. It gets a little weird after one realizes the statues are to remember confirmed racists, though. That aside, the cannons were cool and the history, while important, seemed a bit redundant. Its very clear who felt what way when they wrote the displays. But the stars were the trails. The trails are longer than one is lead to believe, which was a nice surprise, so make sure water is handy. Last note: this place isn't a jungle gym, keep your party reminded.

Beautiful mountain and not hard to get to at all! It's definitely a must see if you are in the Chattanooga area.

You can drive or take the incline railway. Take the railway. We didn't do any of the activities at the top of the mountain, but we enjoyed the view

It was just a wonderful place to visit especailly looking from the top to other states. So cool. Beautiful Moutain

It's OK, not worth a drive from Nashville just for this. It's small. You can do the area in 20 min. Try and go to Chattanooga and surrounding Missionary Ridge and water falls, if you are a Civil War buff. Very pretty views give you a good perspective of what the soldiers faced.

We were here the middle of October, so a little short of peak leaf color. It was a busy week end anyway! This entire combination - Rock City, the Incline, Lookout Mountain and Ruby Falls is a bit confusing. They are not all located at the same place. Rock City is located on top of Lookout Mountain.
No wonder this place is #1 to visit in Chattanooga! It's so beautiful. You walk along a stone trail that comes past beautiful rock formations, waterfalls, and amazing views. Truly, they should do away with the gnomes - they are far beyond their prime and look very tacky which detracts from the natural beauty of this location. Nice gift shops.
Stop at the top for a drink at Cafe 7 and take in the view. It is spectacular!!!

Went to Rock City to explore. Except for people not distancing well it was a great experience. Beautiful scenery.

It was a beautiful day for a visit. Not too crowded but still busy for a Friday afternoon. We were kinda rushed on the trail because of everyone passing through at the same time. There were areas under construction during our visit but still does not take away from the beauty.

We have 5 children. 13,12,10, and twin 1 year old babies. This was a fun and unique experience. Although we had to carry babies most of the way it was worth it. The views were amazing.

Went to lookout mountain with 2 friends while visiting the area. It was a lovely trek around, plenty of people but still quiet moments. I didnāt realize there was so much, going under giant rocks, squeezing between boulders. Then going underground... that was strange. So donāt just run out for the view and run back to your car there is a plenty to see!

Absolutely beautiful ā¤ļø. The weather wasn't great today but still got beautiful pics and loved the view.

Very nice place to go hiking. The views from the mountain are mazing. I recommend going to Sunset Rock.

It was great to go to Lookout Mountain. I really canāt remember specifically what it is I saw other than trees and mountains. Because we were in and out of Ruby Falls the incline and rock city so Iām sure it was there somewhere LOL

Save your money. Drive straight to the top of the lookout mountain for FREE. Parking 3$\hour. Nice view of the Valley. A must if you are visiting the area.

Lookout mountain has some wonderful views, attractions, and hiking trails. We have been to Rock city earlier this year and it was very beautiful. This week we hiked glen falls and it also was very beautiful and fun.

A family drip during Covid-19 situation that was relaxing and social distancing protocol was in place. Nice family trip.

Beautiful!! Lots of lights!! Friendly atmosphere! So much FUN!! Lots of people but super cool!! Good for all ages. Lots of big families recommended for everyone!!

We had often driven through the area without having time to stop. This time we planned a day here and it was well worth it. We almost enjoyed walking the neighborhood and viewing the homes more than the terrific views.

The mountains were awesome as usual and the leaves were turning. The views from the mountains was something to see. Rock City was not crowded and the experience was awesome!

This is a great American treasure...breath taking view...watch for cloud coverage though. Good idea to check the weather report.

Loved the views at the state park. Parking was 10 and access was 20/person. Must see if you like history or hiking though even the very old can get some good views in.

We really enjoyed the Incline trolley ride up Lookout Mountain. The ticket booth and start of the trolley ride is at the bottom of the mountain. There is a gift shop and snack bar at the top and great views from the observation deck.

Perfect for everyone who appreciates history, especially being where so many battles were fought during the civil war. The oil painting mural is breath-taking, showing such fine detail, giving the ābattle above the cloudsā a life of its own. Cannons in place on perimeter, massive memorial in the center, fantastic view of the surrounding area!

If you're in Chattanooga, then you have to go to Lookout Mountain. You will go through Rock City to reach Lookout Mountain. The view from here is amazing and you will learn the area's history as you travel through Rock City.
You will want to add this to your list of things to do while in the area. Be sure to check out our blog on our profile for a more in-depth review!

Parked at the lot by Cravens House and hiked up to the Lookout Mountain summit and Battle Park. About 4 miles round trip. Very nice wooded/shaded hike easy to moderate difficulty. Interesting placards on civil war history and prior resort hotel at top. Excellent views into valley. After hike drove around upper mountain neighborhood to see some spectacular homes.

Decided to side trip between Lynchburg and Nashville and head to Chattanooga and are we glad we did. Lookout mountain and the battlefield were spectacular. What views.

Stunning and a must visit to Rock city . Only around $36 but worth every penny for any age who can walk un aided . Beautiful scenery and caverns , a caffe and toilets half way round and at the start and finish . 5 minutes from starbucks caffe . Itās about a 10 min drive from town . 5 min from Glen falls .

We loved visiting and the weather could not have been more perfect! My only advice- they did not readily tell us strollers werenāt advised- maybe it was posted or something but we didnāt see it - but luckily my husband asked right as we were walking in and thatās when we were told. It was then that the guy manning the door said there was a stroller depot and there were 200-300 stairs throughout the walk and some tight spots. We saw some poor dad lugging around his folded up stroller, so it can be done...Iām thinking he didnāt ask beforehand like we luckily did. I donāt see how this beautiful area could be wheelchair accessible either unfortunately. It is truly a beautiful site to see so I highly recommend it if youāre able!

What a joyous stop. Magic around every corner. My husband and I have passed this many times in our travels. Today we stopped and I am so glad we did. What a beautiful space. A little magical land where you can see 7 states, waterfalls and little gnomes around the most corners!
They offer military discount so donāt forget to ask about that.

this is a very nice place to visit, you can stroll at your own pace. once you reach the overlook area the views are amazing. also Fairyland is awesome it will bring out the child in you as you remember all of mother goose.

The rock formations were interesting. The views were special. The weather was very. Hot.it is not very big.

Beautiful place to travel to. The lookout is stunning, the land is amazing, and Chattanooga itself is a great city. Highly recommend.

We had a difficult time getting to the area of Lookout Mountain where the park is located. The way we drove up passed some beautiful homes that overlooked Chattanooga and we finally just happened upon it. The visitor center had a nice interesting area with information about the battle fought here during the civil war. It cost $10 per person to enter the Point Park. It gave an informative perspective about what the soldiers endured during this battle. The view of the valley was impressive. We went down the mountain on a different road which wasnāt as pretty but was easier.

The top of Lookout Mountain offers amazing views of the City of Chattanooga even on the most cloudy days. The panorama is wonderful.

Excellent views of the valley and interesting information regarding the Civil War battle for Chattanoogo. Bring your National Park Pass card.

This is just amazing and so pretty. Lots of rock formations outside to walk through. The scenery is beautiful. Well worth the stop here.

I love Lookout Mountain. It is so beautiful and the scenery from the top is breathtaking. Lots of things to do if you just take the time.

Highly recommend visiting if in the area, the views are wonderful. I really enjoyed this self guided walking tour through Rock City to get to the lookout. Multiple levels you can look out from

Some of the pictures and reviews on here are confusing. My experienceā¦
We took the incline train up $22 a person. I believe itās $3 an hr to park. Restrooms at the incline pick up and on look out mountain. You can opt out in taking a photo at their booth if you like. If youāre afraid of heights this may not be the thing for you to do. If you do you might be better with riding the middle or back of the train and not the front. You will enter and exit through the back. Once youāre on the mountain thereās two levels to look out. I didnāt go to the top, however my husband did. Once you see the view thereās nothing more after that. Thereās a small gift shop, a little cafe and small eating area. I would suggest waiting to eat at the bottom of the mountain. We ate at Mr. Tās pizza and ice thatās right across the street. We were told only 5 min walk to a military park. Someone told us it was an additional $10 to enter. We opt not to do it.
It rained on our way up and a little once we were up top. To my surprise we were covered except for the very top view. We saw lightning far off that was awesome and scary at the same time. Wish we had captured it. I felt safe.
I imagine there are other ways you can get to look out mountain. Riding the train makes it feel more like an adventure. It probably wonāt be fun for me if we drove up there.š āŗļø

I've always loved Lookout Mountain. The roads are very cramped but it's worth the drive up there. Brought my kids and they loved it.

This is a great place to view the city. Go at night with all the lights. Took the incline up, but later drove up.

We stopped off at Lookout Mountain/Ruby Falls to take in the sights. All the workers we met were so customer friendly (even the parking guy) and knowledgeable. It was bustling with other tourist. We climbed the many stairs leading up to the observation deck. It was quite a view. Iām not into caves so we didnāt go down in to the cave waterfall/catacombs but between trips down the guides were happy to tell us the history/story. We got some great photos out front and visited the gift shop.

Gorgeous gardens and caves. Amazing views and quiet paths. Wonderful people of all ages. Wine tasting was very informative and friendly. Taste wonderful too.

Picturesque!
A great historical teaching for every age.
Easy access by car. Don't forget Point Park where admission (paid by CC kiosk) is required. Worth every dollar!

Beautiful views. Nice roads. Some very nice homes. Can see for miles and miles in clear day. sad to see a auto junkyard at the bottom of one of the views. Quite a eye sore compared to everything else

Be sure to visit Rock City when you are on Lookout Mountain, and absolutely plan to be there at least 2 hours to fully enjoy everything they have to see and experience! Rock City and Point Park are our two favorite things to do on Lookout Mountain, because they provide a relaxing experience to go with the great views, and extremely helpful and informative employees.

It is well worth the visit! The drive to the top is scenic and fun. The homes are nice to look at and the park has wonderful views.

Lookout Mountain shouldn't be missed. The views alone are worth the trip up the mountain either by car or by the incline. I recommended traveling by the incline. It's a fun trip in both directions, and you can enjoy the scenery more without having to worry about driving. There also Ruby Falls, Rock City Gardens, and Point Park to enjoy while on the mountain. Point Park is just a little walk from the Incline's top station.

The stone pathways and artwork enhanced the natural beauty of the trails and vegetation. The view from the top was amazing. There are alternate paths for differing physical ability and comfort levels. Drinks, snacks and souvenirs are readily available.

We visited Lookout Mountain / Rockcity last weekend. It was a awesome visit .. but it was a hot weather. So plan plants of water with you.. I mainly enjoyed narrow passes and rope bridge šš

Views from atop Lookout Mountain are spectacular specially with the brilliant colors of fall foliage

Drive to the cravens house, park and hike the point park hike to the top. Beautiful views at the top and not too challenging of a hike. Highly recommend! Will be the highlight of your Chattanooga stay!

Small but very interesting and informative battlefield park, Rangers give talks at certain times of the day. Spectacular views over the surrounding area.

Breathtaking views and amazing history. You can spend the entire day on the mountain from Ruby Falls to Rock City and more. Great family fun!!!

There is very little mention of the gorgeous residential neighborhood at the top of Lookout Mountain laid and out planned by the couple who originally owned the "Rock City" property. The streets have fairy tale names! You can walk past many of the stunning homes and landscapes once you get off the Incline Railway at the top of the mountain, on your way to the battle memorial Point Park. Great National Park Service shop along the way where you can read about the history of the battles. The little two-lane winding road up and down the mountain is a little scary for out-of-town drivers who live in flat areas, but it opens up to a fabulous view!

This is a must see while in the area and the best way to see it is by visiting Rock City. There are some good photo ops near here.

A return trip for me, first visit for kids, and they were amazed. They loved the walking trail and seeing such unusual rock formations and trees. They had never imagined such a place existed. My daughter is already planning to go back and take some of her friends. The weather was fantastic and we enjoyed it all. My wife used a mobility scooter and was pleased at how much was accessible for her, especially getting all the way to lover's leap for the view. It was very clean, and they make every effort to make people feel safe with covid measures in place. It is even better than i remember it from my visit years ago. We ate at the Big Rock Grill before we left and it was very good, freshly cooked to order and staff was very friendly. Grabbed some fudge across from the Grill and it is delicious. We would certainly come back, or recommend!

A very enjoyable place for families, and great views. Good value and lots to see. Lots of plants to see and in formative.

Spectacular views from the mountain top. A good enjoyable ride on the trolley car up to the top. Having little knowledge of the Civil War it was very interesting to see the park and visitors centre. A terrible war which must have been horrific during the battle for the mountain. A beautiful testament to the history of the area.

I parked behind the Ruby Falls entrance. There is plenty of parking at the mountain bike trailhead. The hiking in here is fantastic! Great network of trails. The map left something to be desired but the trails themselves were in great shape and had plenty of signage. I hiked to the summit (signs say it is a "fee area" but since I entered from nowhere near the gate I did avoid paying). The views from the top are fantastic! Well worth the trip.

Saw this at Rock City - wow - nothing like it. Wife and I spent most of the day enjoying Rock City - but the view from Lookout is nothing less than spectacular.

Until doing some research, we didn't know there was anything to do at Lookout Mountain besides enjoy the view. We basically enjoyed 3 different attractions--Ruby Falls & cavern, the Incline Railway, and Rock City (which is in Georgia, not Tennessee). All three are very different, and I will write separate reviews for each one. After reopening since Covid, I was disappointed that there was no combo ticket for all 3. Also, after getting off the Incline, we walked to Point Park, only to find it closed. So we didn't get to see the view from there or look at all of the Civil War information.

the place is very well take care of and the views are incredible as well as the fairy tale scapes in the caves.

We visited in the new year and there were remnants of Christmas everywhere. It is something that Is incredible, but not in the day time covered in Christmas lights.
Loved the staff, exhibits within Rock City, and the path was super easy to follow.
I just would want to return when the flowers are blooming with an audio tour.

When visiting this area, you have to take a drive up the mountain. It was a beautiful day so it was crowded but well worth the drive.

This is an amazing place. The memorial and points of interest from the battle on the top of the mountain are wonderful. The historical significance is important and the shop adjacent has some excellent books to help put things in context. Well worth a visit.

Just a gorgeous view. Helps you understand how our country was settled. Good mini tour by the National Park Service of the siege and battle during the Civil War.

My wife and I went for her bday and we loved the view!!! Bring your walking shoes because you will walk a lot on top!!!!!!!!

It was a great experience with the family and my granddaughter loved it. All the little fairytale ceramic or porcelainās were amazing. It will be a thing we do for every time we go on vacation. They also have other places you can get in a 4 park package. I recommend it for sure

Ruby Falls, Rock City, and the Incline railway are all on the must do list. The only misstep was a boring guide at Ruby Falls, but the cavern made up for it.

Had a great time. Great for the family. Especially if you have small kids. The COVID spacing of entrance into Rock City is a waste of time. Everybody still gets grouped together on the trail because some people take longer to look at individual scenes.

We did not realize that Lookout Mountain was actually inside of Rock City. What an amazing view on a clear day! This was a relaxing time for us to stretch our legs and do a little shopping. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Absolutely breath taking!!!
Well worth your time!!!
Magnificent!!! We were in awe!!!
I want to go back!!!

You can read a bunch about the battle but until you start walking around the site, climb hills, go down hills, etc., you don't get full picture of what each side faced. Visit Sunset Rock so you can see how Bragg and Longstreet saw the approach of the Union forces coming up the valley.

The view was not clear when we visited the week of 8/2/21 due to the CA fires smoke in the air, but other than that it was a great way to spend family time together.

First time to Rock City and we plan on going back. We traveled from Franklin, TN which is about a 2 hour drive. I recommend going in the fall to see the changing colors of the trees. Lookout Mountain has beautiful views and a nice way to get outdoors. They also have a cafe for drinks and food which is nice to sit and enjoy the view while sipping on a cocktail/beer.

Drive up was beautiful along a winding road, ample big enough but no shoulder area, so pay attention. Remarkable homes and lots of trees with bluffs to see for miles. Walk around the residential area. Paid parking most places, but not well marked so don't think they won't charge and find you, they will. Park fee too high, didn't go see it.

My wife and I were planning this trip for quite some time and it was worth it. The ride up the incline was amazing. We visited the NPS battlefield and walked the trails. The views from above are awesome. I highly recommend visiting this place.

For $10 and the fee required to park, you can enter this historic site with great views! The story of this site has historic importance and the trails provide for an interesting and fun way to get your steps in! I loved everything about my trip here!

This was the second time coming here, about 20 years apart. Despite the cold this weekend, it was great. If you love history and amazing views I would recommend this.

Love going here. Beautiful scenery and good exercise. Carry the kids, they will love fairytale caverns.

Beautiful view. Worth the drive. We did not take the train. It looks like fun so we would probably do that next time. If you are considering Ruby Falls, make a reservation ahead of time.

Yes this place is beautiful and we liked the guided tour. However, there is not much to see and they charge way too much. You have to pay to get in and then you have to pay for parking. We were a bit disappointed.

Lookout Mountain is a must-see if you're in the area, but it's confusing. It turns out just the top is considered the National Park. Ruby Falls, Rock City and the incline train are for profit organizations and not cheap. That doesn't mean they're not worth doing, but we didn't understand that until we got there. In fact, we pulled into Ruby Falls because there was someone on the road directing traffic into their parking lot and we thought that was where we had to go first. Once we pulled in we realized we weren't at the actual visitor's center. We decided to skip those attractions and drove to the top and parked at the visitors center. The rangers inside the center were very helpful and gave us a good orientation to Lookout Mountain and Chickamauga. We paid the $7 at the visitor center to center the National Park gates and walked along the peak which was stunning.

Beautiful! My family & I enjoyed our trip to Lookout Mountain. We definitely will go there again, & recommend it to others. Very pretty & peaceful!

We came here to view the memorial and Civil War artifacts. We also ended up hiking around to Sunset Ridge and we highly recommend this to everyone. It was a beautiful hike along a mountainside trail. Many beautiful views and vistas.

It has an amazing view and a beautiful water fall. The teens enjoyed squeezing through the eye of the needle, fat man squeeze, and the swinging bridge. Great attraction for some family time.

Really enjoyed this visit. Beautiful grounds and unexpected surprises kept this visit interesting for my 8 and 3 year olds. Loved the garden, the 7 state flags/monuments, and the narrow passages. Took about two hours for a leisurely visit.

I've always loved this mountain. Have been on it since I was a child. Lots of attractions to visit. Nice parks. Beautiful overlooks with stunning views. Dark woods. Lots of history.. Cool neighborhoods with fairytale street names with unusual homes. Curvy, winding, steep hills. Go the speed limit!
A few gas stations, and restaurants.

This was our first visit to Chattanooga and we decided to visit Rock City since we remember as children the seeing the "See Rock City" painted on barn roofs. It didn't disappoint us and the Enchanted Garden Light display for Christmas was a favorite! We felt like children in a fairyland!

Had a great day with the family here. Point Park has amazing views with a lot of history for Civil War historians. The monuments were nice with many cannon on site and lots of historical information and markers on site. $10 per person, 15 and under are free.

We loved all Lookout Mountain had to offer. Ruby Falls and Incline Railway were very interesting and Rock City was amazing!

We enjoyed our time here, we went early and avoided the crowds. However, the early mornings can be quite foggy in the mountains and this day was no exception. Neat experience. We hope to return some day.

Beautiful scenery. We ride incline railroad up the mountain. Was nice view. Definitely was cooler temperature wise up the mountain than lower. Couldāve had more to do up at the top. But can say we went.

We seem to have gone on the busiest day of the year. I felt rushed through Rock City. Taking pictures was difficult as well. I would suggest going when it isnāt crowded so you can enjoy it.

This was a fun trip on the tram, but there isnāt a ton to see at the top. The view was nice, but we were hoping for a little more history or a museum like experience.

Highly recommended... my family enjoyed everything. If you are in the Chattanooga area this is a must see

Loved the creativity of the park and all it's stone work. The trails were easy to follow and the views was spectacular!

Lookout Mountain is on the border of the TN and GA. It's a combination for Ruby Fall, Rock City Garden, and Point Park and it's also a combination of history and scenic view. I believe that there're multiple ways to explore this area. Since we're there first time so we're like a tourist paying tickets for every spot. During the holiday season, rock city garden was wrapped by decors. Nice but for me it took out more nature part of the beauty. Views were great on the top of the mountain.

Go early to avoid large crowds. We very much appreciated that dogs were allowed to go into Rock City with us. We purchased incline tickets in advance, but you still wait in line first-come, first-serve, so that was a little disappointing.

We did the combo ticket for the funicular to the top of the mountain and the Battles of Chattanooga Museum. The ride to the top was beautiful, but dangerously hot. On the way up, it was 113 degrees and 105 on the way down. Thereās no AC or ventilation on those tram cars. We asked the operator about it and weāre told that āmanagement doesnāt feel itās necessary.ā Itās brutal for guests and of course, for the staff. Once at the top, the views were spectacular. A short walk brought us to the museum, where taught us about the interesting but sad history of the Battles. A few more steps brought us to Point Park, the site of one of the battles now operated by the NPS.

Beautiful views of Chattanooga ! Nice walk and history signs to read along the way. Shaded spots to sit and cool off if going during the summer.

We drove from Nashville to Atlanta and saw several billboards on our way of this place and decied to drop by. And it was so nice, that we did that, because whole Rock City area including Lookout Mountain was real interesting. Narrow little paths between rocks, bridges, waterfall and of course amazing views from up there. It was Monday in January and still there were quite a lot people, so I'm sure on some sunny weekends, place gets real crowded. You can find also restaurant and little gift shop there....and oh, wear comfy shoes :)

Very pretty and amazing toilets which is a must, we went from New Zealand and hiking trails were well laid out for us to follow

It was a most interesting old battleground site, even from a Yankee's point of view. I have only ever been to union civil war sites before, so I found this location intriguing.

Iām sooo glad we drove up Lookout Mountain. I was blow away by the homes and the views! We had great weather and had a clear view. Walked to the Point Park the views are the best.

Lookout mountain rock city was so awesome. Worth the trip! From rock city we saw lookout mountain, the waterfall, lovers leap, all three gnomes are neat! So worth it!

We really enjoyed our time on lookout mountain.... we just wish that we would have been there in time to see the fall colours.. the view of the valley from the overlook at rock city was beautiful non the less .... was time we'll spent

Seeing 7 states at one point is amazing . Walking through the gardens is magical.
I would go there again and cross the bridge.

My friend has issues walking and one of your great employees helped us to get in to the park and gave us good directions on how to use the handicap trail to get around. Thanks for an enjoyable day.

Would recommend this place to all. I would suggest going when the leaves are changing and in the earlier morning to avoid the school children and large crowds.

You cannot be in the area and not go to lookout mountain, the views are amazing, and you will not be disappointed. Just make sure you go on a clear day

Best spent $24.95 on our trip. The views were spectacular & the caves were incredible. It is a self guided walk. Many areas are tight & narrow w lots of steps. There is a shorter walk if in a wheelchair. Great time!!

Beautiful. We are big fans of the smokies and to be able to see them from the mountain top was amazing. The natural features and the clear sights you can see really take your breath away. Make the drive up the mountain and see the world

Very historic area. Lots of information on the civil war battle. the little museum outside the park was very interesting. Parts of the park are a little challenging to hike if you arenāt in good shape. Iām not, so I was apprehensive about some of the stair climbs. I was winded but I survived. The day we went was cold, cloudy, and rainy so once at the look out points, there wasnāt anything to see, except the tops of the clouds. It actually helped me understand the circumstances of the battle better though.
It amazes me that 2 armies were able to climb this mountain at all, much less have a full scale battle there lasting several days.
The present day community is beautiful. The old homes have been well maintained and it appears a few new homes are being built. I couldnāt live there, but they must have magnificent views.

I had grandchildren in for Christmas. We went to Ruby Falls, Rock City and the incline railroad. The children enjoyed all. The toddlers loved Fairytale caverns and Mother Goose Village, The teenagers enjoyed the lookout where 7 states are noted as being able to be seen. The adults really enjoyed Ruby Falls. The path is low at times which was a problem for 6'5" son-in-law.

The view is amazing from the top!! So much history in the area as well. I had always seen the āSee Rock Cityā signs as a kid and finally got to go! We stayed 2 days and really needed a third. We missed Ruby Falls and the Incline Railway was closed due to a previous forest fire.

Absolutely beautiful views, it was such a fun day trip for out -of-towners . The fairy caverns are a magical experience and the fresh air felt great to enjoy some light walking. I definitely recommend if youāre in the area at least once while visiting Tennessee.

What an interesting place to visit. The sites that this beautiful place offers are amazing. The history of this place, even more so. Lovers Leap, the site where you can see 7 states, all of it absolutely exciting and beautiful.
Great Family Outing
Headed up Lookout Mountain with our young nephews to do some hiking and poke around the visitor center. We made it to both Cherokee and Hemlock Falls, but ran out of time to complete the West Trail Loop. Nice and informative visitor center with helpful staff. Super deal with an entry fee of $5. Loved the picnic area for relaxation after waterfall hike.
