First store visit!

By AndyE224 |

Great first stop this time. Love the fragrance area here. Great variety of sets/products and very good customer service.

An amazing shop.

By Anthony G |

The old and very much working wooden escalators were a reminder of days past and Macy's did not disappoint. The staff were very helpful and knowledgable and the store had some wonderful displays. Nine floors of such a varity of goods virtually anything could be found. Very enjoyable.

A warm up spot in NYC

By J. Nelson |

Before our couples Christmas NYC trip wrapped we ducked into Macy's for a couple of hours to shop a bit, warm up as it was cold an we had been outside a lot and just take in this world famous store. It is a big place, 9 stories and a NY City Block long and wide! We got some perfume and some other cute things for my gorgeous wife! We thought there was a Christmas display on the top floor but it was just a Christmas area where you could buy ornaments etc. Not what we thought but still fun to look and we bought a few to bring back home. The prices were good, not higher than most other dept stores which was very refreshing. Most of the escalators are original to the stores with food steps and are very cool. Staff was very helpful and kind and even though it was busy inside, it wasn't so busy where you felt super crowded or overwhelmed.

Rode the escalators up and down (again)

By Traveller |

I visited Macy's at Herald Square in December 2021. I was killing time before going to Penn Station to catch my train home. Like my last time here, I rode the escalators up to the 8th floor and then down. It was interesting to walk around each floor and see all the shoppers during Christmas time which is worth doing. But I did not intend to buy anything here.

WORST ELVES at Santaland, Macy’s NYC

By Michelle R |

WORST ELVES…Do better Santaland & this looks horrible in Macy’s!!! We were witness to the most rude Santa’s elf as we waited in line to see the Jolliest of them all. This was absolutely APPALLING behaviour!! We saw this particular elf give very snarky remarks to a few people who were making conversation & asking simple questions, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing at first…Then he continued in such a passive aggressive way, joking that “if anyone was from the south they would understand”…WHAT?! He was herding us to move along and yelling for us to move forward when I remarked, “there’s an inch & a half between us!!!!” Worst experience, we ended up bailing out & leaving the line all together. If they hired this joker, we didn’t have a lot of confidence in what the rest of the experience would be like.

Big Macy’s

By yasemin2k |

If you follow 34th St from Time Square, you will end up here and wow. Macy’s was bigger and better then I remembered. Worth to visit and Empire State Building is around that area as well

Be sure to go to Macy's!

By Lalo765 |

Since we are vacationing in NYC with little room in our luggage for purchases, we went to Macy's, not so much for shopping, and more as a sightseeing experience. By it's enormous size alone, it doesn't disappoint. Eleven stories and a full NYC block of shopping - incredible. There is a very "New York" style of elegance on the first level that we don't see much of back home in Florida. After the first few levels of modern escalators, you transition to the somewhat rattle-trap wooden ones. I have been looking for a madeleine baking pan - didn't find it at Macy's, but they have EVERYTHING else! If you get tired, they do have food and beverage offerings - we stopped at a little snack place for a much needed and very pleasant Diet Coke break.

Christmas at Macy’s

By Amazon1 |

Christmas at Macy’s was awesome. The windows were creative and beautiful. Christmas decorations were over the top. Make sure you visit the Christmas Market in the basement. It will not disappoint. Macy’s is the center of the Christmas universe. You have not been to NYC if you have not been to Macy’s at Christmas

Department store with the diffrrence

By SillyBillie |

Macy’s is a department store but what makes it different to other department stores is how big it is + these few gems one finds while walking around... like an oversized piano so one could play like in the movie BIG... wooden escalators are blast from the past (and a little bit scary)... 10% tourist discount is a nice touch... patina pizza was yummy... staff throughout was really friendly.

By Bob T |

Wondered where all the shoppers were - they were here, with good reason. Loved doing the traditions with daughter : wooden escalators, holiday ornament shopping (50% off!), friendly staff, etc. nice to know some things change slowly if at all

Excellent.

By taffy92 |

This store is MASSIVE. You could spend a whole day in here. Whilst we were there they had a 30% weekend, so done plenty of shopping. Be prepared to spend a lot of time here.

Iconic store !

By StephenCross |

Located on Herald Square this is claimed to be the largest department store in the world! Could well be!

Shopping

By Cornish Maiden |

This might be the largest department store in the world but it is very difficult to find an exit. Early in the morning is the best time to visit after that it is incredibly busy, often with people returning unwanted items. This takes a long time and you have to be determined you want to buy your product before waiting that length of time.
The staff are very mixed some incredibly helpful others incredibly rude. If you remember the KIng's Cross' fire don't stray above the early floors as you will find wooden escalators with all there dangers.
It is an experience not to be missed but one you might not want to repeat. The recommended time for your visit and the time it takes you to get out will be vastly different.

Fun and historic area of the city

By David N |

Wow. We never thought we would get such a thrill visiting New York and enjoying the excitement this city has to offer. Part of that excitement and the history was visiting Macy's Herald Square. Magic

From the UK to NYC... a wonderful shopping experience

By Amy Wonderlust |

From the UK to NYC... an excellent shopping experience.

I would quite happily describe it as retail nirvana. This iconic store in the heart of New York City offers an excellent shopping experience. The moment you step inside, you're greeted by an impressive array of fashion, beauty, and home goods.

The selection is immense, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable; ready to assist you in any way they can. Plus, the historic significance of this Macy's location adds to the overall charm.

Whether you're a fashion enthusiast, a bargain hunter, or a tourist seeking a quintessential New York experience, Macy's at Herald Square won't disappoint. It's a must-visit destination for shoppers and a piece of New York's vibrant history.

Don’t ask where the Rest rooms are

By Annie D |

Well you can’t go to NewYork without going shopping to Macy’s . Myself and my sister in law couldn’t wait to get in the doors . It was quite inside and after buying a few presents to take home we asked this girl where the rest rooms were I remember she was putting out jeans, we were very polite in asking but my word she didn’t know the meaning of customer service . She just glared at us I thought for a minute she was going to charge at us . She was the rudest person ever to the point that she unnerved us never said a word her body language said it all . I know New Yorkers are not known for their friendliness but when you’re shopping in a store like Macy’s spending money . Well we didn’t go back and won’t be going back

Big store

By BagmanNZ |

Yes, like other reviews say, it’s just a department store. However, it’s a very big one. If you want something you’re probably going to find it. My favourite things are the discount clothing areas; everything is so very cheap.

Shopped for almost 3 hours!

By Travelbug5627 |

I love this Macy's! I bought Christmas gifts and a couple of items for myself. It was a highlight of my trip to NYC.

A Department Store

By N D |

This is a fairly ordinary, if large, department store. It is pleasant but nothing special. There was a floral theme when we were there which was eye catching.

Shopping!

By Matt S |

What a ridiculous store, never saw a place so big.
8 floors of everything.
Great old school wooden escalators.
Virtually everything you need here, didn’t really have time to explore it here.
If your a shopaholic, got here!
Now also have the entire 8th floor ready for Xmas.

The Best Christmas Department Store

By SCBlossom |

We went to all the big department stores in NYC and Macy’s was clearly outstanding. No competition. I was not able to see Santa which was behind a wall protected by elves. Reservations required. The Christmas decorations, ornaments, wrapping etc., were on a separate floor.

The entire store was beautifully decorated and all the employees were festive and helpful. Signage was helpful and the store was packed with shoppers spending money.

Racist waiters here

By Boris B |

Don’t go here , if you not white guy waiter gonna kick you out from there to seat somewhere racist waiters there , I’m not recommending to go there . Very sucks

What a disappointment!

By Eric A |

I had heard a lot about Macy’s in American novels and movies.
The outside of the store enchanted me...so what a disappointment once inside!
You find yourself in a department store of the 80s that is no longer at all up to date and does not compare with these foreign competitors.
The items are not highlighted and there is a Lancôme perfume stand isolated in the middle of the shoe stands (on the 2nd floor)! No magic of a department store.

Not very welcoming

By Jessica O |

Some staff not friendly or helpful.Lots of empty areas.Could not click and collect as I don’t live in America as I wanted to buy a Spode tablecloth that you can’t buy in the Uk.

Top shopping destination

By Jydeoo |

I have heard that this is the largest Macy's outlet, and the size is daunting. Long, wide and several floors. I went searching for a suitable jacket and found so many options, and eventually picked one.
It is a very nice place to shop/window shop right in the middle of Manhattan.

Loved this store. Especially around 🎄 Christmas.

By Quest25732977536 |

Been awhile since I’ve been but the store was phenomenal! Loved their selection of tree decorations, albeit I actually went before the parade day. LOVED LOVED LOVED the wooden escalators. Store was a joy!

Love this shop

By Irene H |

This is our first stop every time we’re in New York. Great selection of clothing for all sizes. It has just about everything you can think of. Have always found the staff very helpful and always get more than you came for

Must do

By Lane the English traveller |

Going to this massive shop is a must if you like shopping. Well laid out and nobody mithering you unlike other multi store shops like debenhams. Spent a couple of hours looking around.

Disappointed

By Simon |

Very over priced and a lot of the clothes looked outdated. The restaurant on the sixth floor is very nice but the food is average and very overpriced.

THE Macy's, but still just a Macy's

By psudino |

The reason why this Macy's is on TripAdvisors (and not every Macy's) is because this is THE Macy's. The one from Thanksgiving. The one from the movies. The one from the postcards. It's a famous location. It's akin to Harrod's in London.

However, when you enter, that's where the Harrod's comparison ends. Enter the store and it is...a Macy's. There is not much in this store that is dramatically different than any Macy's except that it is big and vertical.

If you are a tourist in NYC, this is something to walk into to say you did, but I suggest not going out of your way to visit it.

Huge traditional store

By Spw91 |

Old style dept. store with a huge variety of everything. Not your standard mall sized store. Each department may be the size if an entire store in a modern mall.

Must See!

By veronak |

This store is massive, I’ve never seen anything like it. Plan to spend a few hours here.

Being from Florida, Macy’s was never my go to, loved Burdine’s. However this store is a must see. There’s so many different levels, a candy store as well as a few restaurants.

What was most exciting was seeing what I believe to be the original escalators.

Lastly, the store is great for shopping.

Nine Floors of Shopping and Holiday Cheer

By A. Tennyson |

Macy’s in New York City is a must-visit, especially during the holiday season. Outside, the Christmas markets are the same as those at Bryant Park, but with far fewer people, as most visitors are inside the store. Inside, the store is beautifully decorated, and there are plenty of locations perfect for holiday photos.
With nine floors to explore, there’s plenty to see, and it really feels like a classic NYC experience—you’ve got to do it to say you’ve done it. Despite the crowds, the store was very clean and well-maintained, making it an enjoyable place to wander and soak up the festive atmosphere. Overall, Macy’s is a fun and iconic stop during the holidays, whether you’re shopping, taking photos, or just enjoying the decorations.

Wonderful store

By Bocboc26 |

Brilliant store. Each time I visit the city I spend at least an entire day in this store. I love the wooden escalators, the staff are friendly and helpful. Never fails to disappoint. The varies food vendors in the store help to stay hydrated.

Macys 9 floors of shopping

By Lenora M |

I am insteresed in the history part of the store we took the esclader from the first floor to the 9th after the 6th floor it was all wooden sides and steps really cool

Terrible

By Cornish Maiden |

Get new staff, most of those they have are rude and unhelpful. Asked one person where the dress shirts where. His reply was over there somewhere but I can't be bothered to go and look.
If you are very lucky you will find one who is very helpful, the one in the sunglasses department was useless but the one in another department selling the same product but tucked away in a corner was very helpful. I think she worked for one of the design companies

Brilliant shopping

By Gillybobs1959 |

Loved visiting here specially the Christmas section lots of Christmas decoration to choose from. You had to wait quite a while for the lifts.
All in a must visit whilst in New York.

NEVER BUY ONLINE FROM MACYS

By NYCM |

Never buy anything from Macy's online. The delivery takes 2-3 weeks, sometimes longer. Just terrible..

Macy’s New York

By Hugary1 |

We decided to go as it is close to our hotel and I remember all the movies in the 50’ and 60’s that involved Macy’s.
It is a large department store over several levels. It mostly sells higher end items is a very comfortable and pleasant atmosphere. They even has a Starbucks inside.
Staff super friendly and courteous.
Another bucket list item ticket off.

INCREDIBLE prices backstage on the 8th floor of the largest store in the US.

By AAlex Bao |

Going to this store is like getting lost in an infinite world. Each of the 11 floors requires a full day to visit. And the most incredible thing is that on the 8th floor there is an area called BACKSTAGE where ALL the prices are incredible, you won't be able to imagine it until you are there. These are the items that take a while to sell on the other floors, and they're put here at very low prices and with top-quality items.

Huge and fun to visit

By Linda K |

The store was crowded, but it was a weekend in NYC...didn't expect anything less. The old wooden escalator was a hoot. With brick and mortar stores going under like crazy in our area it was really enjoyable to go shopping in a busy, multi-floor department store.

Great store split into his and hers

By Stacey039 |

Large store, friendly staff offers of help all around including other people shopping there. The shop is split in two with men's in one half of the store from ground to floor 7 and ladies on the other side from basement up. We made several purchases from both sides of the store and found the store to be welcoming even when busy!

Lovely store

By lisa g |

Great welcome when they open staff dancing and clapping to music
Great deals Black Friday
Christmas decorations inside and window displays

Thanks giving

By Amusementman |

Very disappointed.
Poor signage in store.
Ppl with disabilities who need rest rooms will struggle not enough by a long shot.
We had to leave

Macy’s

By mo_aiguille |

I really love Macy’s as I find they have a lot of designers and the prices are a bit cheaper than the UK.
Was surprised that it said world’s biggest store.
There are so many designers to choose from and you could spend hours in the store.
They also have restaurants for people to have food and take break from their shopping.

Flagship store that delivers memories

By Mark T |

This is the second time we have taken our girls to Macy’s flagship store and every time there is something special. The first time was at thanksgiving this time was the wooden escalator and the toy department. Well worth a trip when in the city with little kids.

Cool to see!

By teknoge3k |

We had to go into Macy's while in NYC. We rode the wooden escalator which was near and this store has EVERYTHING. However watch the prices. They were more than double than my local Macy's.

Shopping Mecca

By Tshepiso S |

Talk about shop till you drop. It was lovely to see, and don’t get me started on the discounts available at till. Will definitely be back.

Stella at Macy’s

By Leanne B |

We had lunch at Stella on 6th floor. Their wait staff were run off their feet. Would be great if they employed more staff. Josie was lovely & the food was great but EMPLOY MORE PEOPLE

World's biggest Debenhams

By Katy R |

Had to go in i suppose, its a must, but my teenage daughter said it was like the world's largest Debenham's. She was right. It is huge, easy to get lost in (joked we were in the biggest lingerie dept in the US....because it reminded us of Father Ted). The old wooden escalators are interesting. Had sugar coated pretzels in Annie's which were really reasonably priced and tasty and then left without buying anything. Maybe its better at Christmas?

The largest shop on Earth

By Rob M |

No visit to New York would be complete without a visit to Macy's to get your bag. (if you're going for the bags, head down to the basement level where you'll find a gift shop.

Fantastic shopping experience

By Josh R |

A lovely shopping experience, enjoyed the flower exhibition they had on show over the Easter weekend, cheered up the visit whilst there, thank you from a family of 3 visiting from the U.K

Macys, New York City, USA

By Kaan Kuskonmaz |

Welcome to the world's largest store. All world-class brands are available there and are cheaper than in other stores.

Received all wrong items on 2 separate orders

By nettiegurl16 |

As a few others here posted, BEWARE of shopping Macy's online.

3 times now I've ordered from the website, considering it was easier and more convenient than shopping in-store. Dead wrong. My last 2 orders, they screwed up big time. 6 items ordered (all clothing) and they sent me 6 wrong items instead. That's not a simple goof, but plain incompetence.

Sad because I have a Macy's charge, and Points. But apparently must use them only in-store here forward. At least I KNOW I get what I paid for.

Everything under one roof!

By tinylass |

Been many times as I like the Macy's Arcade which has their own merchandise. Whilst in the store this time I noticed an offer on Kipling bags which was too good to miss and then on the way out noticed a gorgeous DKNY bag which I also purchased so three bags later I finally left; not bad for someone who doesn't really like shopping!
It is easy to find what you want as there are lists of what's on each floor; this also tells you where the toilets are although they're not easy to find once you're on the right floor!

Thanksgiving Turkey

By Hannah R |

This store had the most beautiful window displays that I have ever seen. From the Santa lights to the big turkey for thanksgiving day. I loved that turkey. We enjoyed a look around a couldn't resist buying some of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade stock including a scarf and hat we not wear with pride. It's also one of the nicest gingerbread we have tasted and we have high standards for gingerbread living near the home of Grasmere Gingerbread in the UK.

Brilliant

By Natashahewins97 |

Cant even remember how many floors it had was so big honestly need 1 day just to do this, very helpful staff and lovely welcoming at 10am when they clap you through the door

Gorgeous store, fab staff

By maria |

Staff are so friendly and helpful and the store looked so special for Christmas. Market place downstairs was lovely with gifts and decorations. Loved it

Shopping

By Carol |

In New York for a few days we went in Macy's, love shopping in Macy's.
Had a good look around found a few things to try on went to the fitting room. Was surprised to find a homeless man sitting next to the Fitting Room with all his baggage's, asleep. Personally, I did not feel comfortable going in the Fitting Room and taking my clothes off to try the items on. As we were walking out the store we saw 3 other homeless people asleep in the shop

Santaland

By angela0809 |

Wonderful experience the meeting with Santa Claus on Christmas Eve! You have to arm yourself with patience for booking on the site but I assure you that it is really worth it. Despite we did not have children but already grown-ups the emotion of the family photo was great and will remain a nice memory to keep.

Snack

By steven_wilkinson |

Called in for a quick snack and of course to see the big piano - both conveniently located in the basement next to each other.

Food ordering using the s redeems was confusing as it would not take an English devout card. Food was good though.

Piano - well 2 minutes and a photo should just about do it. Unless you are 5 of course.

Shopping Mecca

By doctorfoxtrot |

This is a can’t miss when visiting NYC. So many shops, so many designer brands. Almost all under one roof. We went there 1 day before Thanksgiving and there were just so many buyers and enthusiasts . Later I realised that many stores have already started their Black Friday discount sale. Oh my , this is said to be the biggest department store in the world . And of course , can’t miss are the historic wooden elevators that I need adjusting for a while.

Lackluster holiday window decorations.

By jgbtravels |

We do shop Macy’s back home, however, we came to the flagship store to see the Christmas window decorations.Unfortunately they were lackluster this holiday season. Is it Covid or financial issues? Whatever the reason the decorations didn’t measure up to our visit 7 years ago. They were spectacular then. This year was disappointing. We stayed perhaps 20 minutes then took the train to Grand Central Station instead.

Iconic location don't miss it!

By Odyseey |

There is much history here you can tell by the wooden escalators throughout the building they now work with Toys r us as they are on the 7th floor now

Terrible

By Destiny K |

I made a big order with Macy’s on 11/30 for $427. Macy’s failed to fulfill the entire order and one coat (for 16.99) was on backorder. The backordered item was shipped on 12/27 and when it was shipped my bank account was charged a pre-auth charge for the 16.99 as well as the entire order that I had already paid for. So now my back account is negative and checks are going to bounce because of Macy’s. When I called customer service I was told, “You’ll be fine it will fall off, how long that takes us up to your financial institution”. I shouldn’t have to wait for it to fall off, I have already paid this order minus 16.99 and Macy’s had no right to hold my money again. I will never shop here again and will post my experience everywhere I can so other people know how this place does business. This is unacceptable!

Disappointment

By anna t |

Very disappointing, old and ugly items, looked like a department store of the ugly ones. It's not my taste, perhaps in Italy we are better accustomed to it. I remembered it being much nicer.

Some great bargains

By Michelle |

We were staying nearby therefore Macy’s was very convenient for us and we made several trips to the store. Our first visit was on Thanksgiving day and it was a bit manic! Staff were friendly and some great discounts were on offer.
Personally I find it annoying going around the store as some floors have a mix of everything instead of men’s on one floor and women’s on another.
On further visits to the store we found staff quite unhelpful and uninformed unfortunately.
The Christmas decorations on the ground floor are fabulous.

Macy’s holiday windows and decor

By Mark T |

The sheer wonder and awe on my 4 year olds face when she walked into the amazing decorated Macy’s was priceless. Those moments made the whole trip for Orlando to nyc worthwhile. Later after their grandparents had taken them toy shopping upstairs they took in the Macy’s windows with glee.

NYC Must Visit!!!

By CathyP1953 |

You must go to Macys while in NYC! The wooden escalator is so unique!!! I had to purchase something while in the flag ship store- a pair of earrings!!! I was so impressed with all the shoppers while walking around the huge store. A MUST!!

Busy

By Manicrose |

As you would expect, the world’s largest department store is very busy! Ideal if you want to do a lot of clothes shopping as many brands all under one roof.

Left down by the number of escalators out of use resulting in long queues for lifts and lack of mens toilets. One on the lower level were out of order and next ones up weren’t until 7th floor.

Skip Santa at Macy’s

By Barbara C |

We made a reservation to see Santa for 6:30 pm.
We waited in line for an hour and 45 minutes before seeing Santa for three minutes.
The experience isn’t worth the time.

Visit to Macys on our new York visit

By Gatzy |

Great experience to see the Christmas displays.
The windows were fantastic.
Quaint wooden escalator.
Huge shop and was so good to see all the displays

Huge Store

By motorcar1 |

Macy’s is a vast Department store and if you want something, it must be for sale there. Give yourself plenty of time. The 70% off days are gone

You never disappoint

By Lorraine C |

Oh Macys you never disapoint. I just love going to Macys when in the US, and this one is the best. Love the old escalators and the cool architectural details , espeically one the ground floor. The shopping is also amazing as I always find heaps I want to buy.

Many brands and very big

By TRAVELLER Foodie ✈️ |

Giant brand clothing store.
It is very well organized because of the floors and brands and on each floor there is a fast food restaurant.

The place is very well air-conditioned and clean. What is missing are bathrooms, if there are hardly any toilets in the entire store.

You can find all your favorite brands and the prices like in any store

Like in a movie!

By angela s |

unique and spectacular experience! Excited Aladin show on Broadway, don't miss it, tickets can be purchased last minute in Times Square at the TKS box office behind the red staircase! In New York it's like being in a movie...it's all to be enjoyed with your gaze up...Have fun

Amazing!

By Darragh Walsh |

I couldn’t stop going to Macy’s on my New York trip I bought so much stuff at such good prices. Even if you don’t like shopping you have to go to Macy’s

Good Christmas shopping experience

By Molly |

We went to Macy's on 24th December.

The purpose of our visit was Christmas shopping. Despite it being Christmas Eve, there was a large selection of products, and of various (affordable) prices too.

Inside and outside was beautifully decorated for the festive season, and the buskers outside were very entertaining too.

It was however somewhat confusing to navigate, so the store could do with some more detailed store guides and/or maps.

Will definitely be coming back if I'm ever in the area.

The department store

By Leonhkny |

Macy's is the representative of department store worldwide. An icon of capitalism and consumerism, the Herald Square flagship has special meaning for both New Yorkers and tourists. Goods are not particularly expensive as anticipated by many. Apart from the vintage escalator, America's largest department store is also famous for ornate Christmas decoration. Do take a look when around.

Souvenir shopping

By NLK |

I came here specifically for a Christmas present for my mum and left with a great Macy's tote!

Loved seeing all the merchandise and choosing the best present, but I would definitely go a little earlier next time as it was so busy!

Macy's Holiday Windows of 2020

By Curious Findings of Kristina Lucia |

The annual holiday windows are a treasured tradition for many and I am sharing my experience of 2020 Macy’s holiday windows. I visited on a Saturday night and was touched by this year’s theme of “Thank You”. All the windows on 6th Avenue/ Avenue of the Americas feature the classic Macy’s Elfs expressing thanks to the front line city workers who are tirelessly working to keep us all safe. This display also includes an interactive window where you can move the images from a distance with your hands and another emulating Times Square with signs proclaiming “Thank You” in multiple languages . To ensure social distancing there are spacing stickers on the ground kindly asking visitors to keep “antler distance apart”.
Proceeding to 34th street I found more goodies! The windows on 34th street has game windows for visitors including Macy’s Memory Game, Santa’s Magic Bag, and Sleigh Scape. The same social distancing stickers are laid out on the 34th Street side as well. This visit was most enjoyable and found there was ample opportunity for social distancing. On my next visit I plan to try out the games!

Wonderful Associate Experience!

By Danielle Hartmann |

Michael Ramos was by far the most professional and friendly sales associate I have come across in the industry as a whole. Michael was incredibly knowledgeable regarding product information and made an initially stressful experience into an enjoyable shopping trip! Thank you again, Michael!

Christmas spirit!!

By gussman2 |

We were first blown away by the window displays outside. They are incredible, especially the big fluffy dog who scratches himself if you rub his nose. When walking in the front door, the beautiful Christmas decor smacks you in the head! So much sparkle!! If this place can't get you in the Christmas mood, nothing can. The place is crazy busy and loud but every dept store is at this time of year. Every employee we encountered was very helpful and friendly even among the chaos. Our local Macy's at home can't touch this place!

Guided Tour and Shopping!

By deano3693 |

We received a guided tour on the history of Macy's and then the shopping commenced. I am amazed at how much is crammed in over 7 floors and the layout is very clever with Men/Women's sections on each floors. It is very easy to get lost with Lifts/Escalators everywhere. I am sure I visited the same floor about 3 times!!!

Worth seeing the outside

By Sam B |

Iconic for sure... but it's just a department store like most others. Cool to see from the outside, not too much excitement on the inside.

Promises of great things but didn't deliver

By Caroline S |

Nothing different from any other department store but lured by lots of promotional material and promises of discounts, I contacted them to make sure I could use them. They said a resounding yes so armed with my list I went down, lovely to wander around - huge busy and festive went to buy what I had been told was discounted with my voucher (by Macys) and found the vouchers from the New York Times were not valid, despite my being told they were....then went online and tried to purchase with my 25% off your total for joining Macy's email list - once again nothing worked, so it's a great department store but don't be fooled by the discounts promised, they are misleading in my humble opinion - you get there and you can't use them...if you are passing drop in - but every city in Ireland, the UK and beyond have stores just like it

Holiday Visit: BOOK your Santa visit ahead

By daisyferret1 |

We have made a tradition out of visiting Macy's in Herald Square to sort of kick off our holiday season. We usually stop to see the holiday windows and walk around inside the store. While we are there we usually wander up to the floor with Santa Lane and up to the floor with the Holiday Lane. In the past we have been able to arrive, get in line and see Santa Lane. Then one year we tried to do that and the line to see Santa was close to a 3 hour wait. Last year, we didn't even try. This year we figured we would try again. We found out that unless you make your reservation online in advance, you cannot even get in line to see Santa. So, that was disappointing. Also, Macy's used to carry Anna Lee holiday figurines. I have noticed that they have NOT had them the last few seasons. That has also been disappointing. Another thing Macy's used to do was have a plush of the season (sort of an ambassador from the Thanksgiving Day parade balloons) & they have quit doing that. One year it was Garfield and one year it was Mickey. It was always fun to see them throughout the store.

Overall, this Macy's is MASSIVE. There are floors after floors after floors. The departments are HUGE. There are several eateries within this Macy's. If you visit during the holidays, the holiday windows are a real treat. Many of them are even interactive. The interior decor on the ground floor is spectacular during the holidays. I really enjoy walking around Holiday Lane on the upper floor. Here they have almost any ornament imaginable. BUT, the fact that you cannot see Santa without reservations is not magical. It doesn't really add to the holiday spirit.

Horrible Delivery Service

By roberta w |

Macy's so-called White Glove Service, which is actually the name of the company they use to deliver furniture, is awful! If there were no stars available, I would actually give them negative ones. They delivered twice to my home, once two patio chairs and once a patio table. With regard to the chairs, they wanted to know if I needed to have the chairs taken out of their boxes! With regard to the patio table, I had made requests twice to Macy's representatives to insure that they would be wearing masks over their noses. One did, one did not. When I asked him to put his mask over his nose, he refused and simply went back into the truck! The other one finished putting the table together (in a light drizzle) and then left it in the garage. It would have been very easy for them to put the table together in the garage. In any case, the table looks awful, with many scratches and dents. I will be returning the table and requesting a refund of the delivery charges for both the chairs and the table. Given the rude, obnoxious, and incompetent behavior of these delivery folks, my guess is that Macy's is paying very little for this service and overcharging customers. My suggestion is not to buy any furniture from Macy's!

Jumble sale

By Paul Flemans |

Harrod’s must be twice the size, the presentation is like a jumble sale of luxury goods. Not a spot on Harrod’s.

Love this!!

By kenny❤️🙈🙈 |

I have been trying to go travel to new places and have more experiences! I came here solo and macys was sooo big! So fun! And so cool! The clothes, accessories, and even cosmetics are amazing! <3

Oh at Christmas

By brewColumbus_Georgia |

Nothing like snow flurries and brights lights and shopping… unless it’s the windows at Macy’s. From the wooded escalators to the windows trimmed in red with mind soothing adventures. It’s a must see when in NY during the holidays.

Santaland a must in NYC

By SuperDaveBrown |

Need to book in advance!!!

Well organised, enjoyable and FREE!!

Santa did a very good job of interaction and I was impressed. Optional photos after which we bought, price weren’t too bad and you get digital too.

Went up to 9th floor to holiday lane and bought a Christmas tree ornament 😍

You even get to go up the oldest escalator in the world (not a fact but they are wooden) 🤣

Very very cool. Wide Selection of name brands.

By CES122 |

Macy’s is great. Need more sitting locations for non-shoppers. Maybe a room. Wi-Fi is super good. Food Court is super great. Service workers are very polite.
Also Starbucks. Stella. Godiva.
This is a top attraction. Very clean. No long queues at Thanksgiving. Walk from TimesSquare is 15-20. The Macy’s employees are polite and respectful.

Shopping at Macys

By Gillybobs1959 |

Visited here for a shopping experience.Bought lots of Christmas baubles really pleased got to the checkout and they were half price.
The lifts you had to wait quite a while for.
Worth a visit.

Extremely slow shipping & terrible customer service!

By NYCM |

Don't ever buy from this store online. They take forever to deliver and their customer service line is terrible. No wonder why they are not doing well. I bought a Valentine's Day gift online over a week ago and it's still at their warehouse in AZ. I've called them four times. The last call I was on hold for an hour and 25 minutes. I will never purchase from them again.

Great window displays- inside a real disappointment.

By Ags |

They’ve done a superb job with their Christmas window displays. However, inside was a real disappointment. We found most floors to be messy and staff were unhelpful. The Christmas section was also a real letdown and not what I was expecting. Save yourself the trip and go to Saks.

You cant do NY without doing MACYS

By debs1707 |

It isnt a visit to NY if you dont do Macys. The store is a maze. We went December & headed straight for the Christmas department. Bought lots of decs at great prices. The store itself had lots of bargains and what we liked was the amount of different drink/food outlets on the floors, such a good idea. We got lots of bargains in Macys

Paradise for Shoopers

By Ashaugsburg |

I was staying just few step from this shopping mall in Pennsylvania Hotel.
So I thought of visiting this place recommended by my cousin and it was worth they have everything you need for clothing with branded stuff reasonable cost.
I was there in Black Friday so good amazing deals.

Worth. A go don't miss it .

Shoppers Paradise

By Zoe Y |

Shoppers paradise got some real bargains. Loved the original wooden escalators. Staff were friendly, especially the guy in the men's shoe department he was brilliant. Only downside I couldn't find santa.

Useless booking

By Carla G |

Despite making a reservation to visit the Santaland attraction on the top floor, we were forced to postpone our entrance for half an hour. As requested, we reappeared at the "check-in" point but, HORROR, we saw ourselves redirected TO THE QUEUE as if we had never booked. Needless to say, the queue was mileage! We gave up, much to the disappointment of our children, but the idea of spending at least three hours in line made us give up. Three years ago we had visited it, without problems, very well organized.....

MAC MACY'S : VICTORIA MAKEUP ARTIST

By Erica C |

We went to Macy's with my sister on July 26th 2024.
Victoria ( Mac makeup artist ) helped my sister to find the right makeup for her skin.
Our expectations were above and beyond.
My sister's needs were very special and Victoria just look at my sister skin found the PERFECT FONDATION AND CONCEALER.
What can I say the customer service experience deserved more than 5 stars because Victoria had special skills that make all the differences.
She made my sister day that day and for that I would like to thanks her.
She is a really really really GOOD makeup ARTIST

Macys at Christmas

By holidayhoney65 |

We visited Macys to see the famous Christmas decorations and we were blown away.
Macys go all out from the building itself, to the windows and the decorations in the store. So much planning and thought has gone into them and they certainly draw a crowd. Well worth a visit if in NY at Christmas time.
And of course we did a bit of shopping while we were there, well it would have been rude not to!

It's a giant department store.

By Curtis F |

Was walking around midtown Manhattan exploring, so decided to check out the largest Macy's in the world. Didn't do any shopping, just walked around taking in the sights. It's a massive store, something like 6 or 7 stories tall and I believe takes up an entire city block.

A must visit

By Majella H |

In NYC on holidays so of course had to visit Macy’s and it certainly did not disappoint. Only meant to had a look but ended up buying some nice dresses. The cashier Donna on the 5th floor (I think) was so lovely and made us feel to welcomed

Step inside and spend spend spend

By Reservarlden |

The Menswear and Fragrance department were filled with very attentive staff who certainly know customer service. Obviously I did leave a few dollars poorer after selecting some fantastic deals. Always worth a visit when in town.

Not worth the hype. But good to say you have been.

By KcMc45 |

Gone to say we have been. But not amazing. No bargains to be had. Toilets were far between. Basement for mens and about 3 floors up for womens. Toilets also had seen better days. Ive been. Ive done it. Not really much to write home about.

Slightly overwhelming but good

By Lwatson1970 |

Having already walked some distance one day we found the experience somewhat overwhelming with huge amounts of departments spread over so many floors which are not the easiest to navigate your way around. A return visit with fresher legs was more successful and if you are willing to go through the miles of rails, there are plenty of bargains to be had. Of course it adds to the Christmas feeling when visiting in December but expect long queues at the tills and not always service with a smile from the staff who probably work some long tiring hours. Worth a visit to grab a bargain or two but make sure you go early in the day to avoid shopper saturation.

Great sale purchases

By Ellie K |

I always love visiting Macy’s when I’m in the USA as they have lovely things in stock. This time I bought 2 handbags & a beach bag all for 50% off in the sale - such a great bargain! I definitely recommend Macy’s to anyone visiting.

What’s not to like????

By Darren M |

Floor upon floor of shopping of all descriptions. Clothes, perfumes, household items as well as food outlets and coffee shops, however if you got kids (even big ones) get yourself up to the Xmas section it’s AMAZING.

Harrod's, Galleries Lafayette, Macy's....

By BrakiWorldTraveler |

...London, Paris, New York.
Each of this world metropolis has its own famous department stores, and they have many branches all over the countries, but only one is the main from which it all began.
That's the case with this Macy's at Herald square on 34th St, just a block from the iconic Empire State bldg.
We didn't come to shop, just entered and roamed this huge edifice occupying the entire block. You can find everything you might think of, however cannot comment the prices - I presume they're higher than elsewhere.
Therefore, it was a pure touristy visit for us after visiting the Empire.

SHOP TIL YOU DROP !!

By Welshbird31 |

Again another shopping experience not to be missed. Ideal location and easy to walk to or by tube etc if you are further out. This store is huge and again covers all price points and wish lists as well.
The store is well laid out and there is plenty of staff on hand. In addition this store has some of the original wooden escalators which are lovely to see.
You will be in there at least 2 hours pending on what you want really.
Again store set up beautiful for Xmas. Worth a visit - most people come out with a Macy's bag!!!

Worth a visit but can get crowded

By CNWgtnNZ |

Love coming to Macy’s when in the USA we always seem to hit the sales and get good quality luggage to add a bag to take home! The Christmas store was extensive and of course they had great sales on Black Friday very crowded but still good.

Nice to see this iconic store in the flesh!

By kalena36 |

Just had to see this iconic store. Was beautifully decorated for the upcoming Easter season, inside and out. Went for a walk inside and bought a little keepsake for my daughter which, when I paid for on a credit card, gave me the helpful option of paying in sterling so no extra bank charges! It's good to visit for the experience but IMO, highly over rated.

A New York Institution

By Boyd J |

Macy’s Department Store is a New York institution, and the Black Friday sale provided a good incentive to check it out, and buy some greatly reduced clothes for our grandchildren. The wooden elevators were an unexpected treat.

Still amazing

By Potomac_11 |

The world's largest store is a throwback to the past. The wooden escalators really bring you back. Something here for EVERY budget.

Interesting tour of Macy's Herald Square

By golfergeo |

On Thurs. Dec. 5 we were the only 2 people that had signed up for the tour. It was interesting to learn about the history of Macy's. I can understand why the plaque for the Straus' would be on the tour but I really didn't see a need for the employee plaque of those that have been with Macy's for 50 yrs was necessary. Our tour only lasted 30 min. rather than the advertised 45 min.

Come every time in NY

By Dotty198 |

We come here every time we visit NY to buy Christmas decorations as they are quite cheap and something different to decorate our tree at home

Like the old style escalators

Absolutely adore the store decorations

Definitely worth a visit

Thanksgiving Memories

By LYNNE R |

I loved this department store. The window displays were the best I will probably ever see anywhere and I absolutely loved the Thanksgiving turkey at the front of the store. It was a pleasure to walk around this store, it was so well set out and the thanksgiving displays were wonderful. The gingerbread from one of the cafes inside was absolutely delicious too.

Shop till you drop. If you can afford it ?

By Madtwo |

Great store. Claims to be the largest store in the world but I think that title may have gone elsewhere. That said it’s a huge store. Features a classic wooden escalator that just smacks of old age store shopping. Pretty much every designer you could wish for. Prices seem comparable to many other stores but the choice or range is huge.

A once in a child’s lifetime holiday experience

By thadabroad |

My wife and I took our 2 seven year old children to see Macy’s Santaland. Tip number 1- make a web reservation 5 days in advance. The reservations open at 6 am, 5 days before your desired visit date. This is the time you will be allowed to get in the queue line, not when you will actually see Santa Claus. We arrived 30 minutes prior to our reservation time to check in and had to wait till our time started. We then spent a full hour walking slowly through the serpentine maze with hundreds of other families. When we left, the wait time at the end of the line was estimated to be in excess of 2.5 hours. For most of the maze, you are in a back service hallway lined with TVs playing a holiday themed video. Then you emerge to begin “the experience “ as it was referred to by staff. When you begin, it starts with animated window displays, then goes into “Santaland”- a visual wonder of decoration displays, Christmas trees, a train display, and Santa’s elves, who are incredibly pleasant, playful, and willing to pose for photos. At the end is the man himself- the jolly old elf, St. Nick in all his splendor. He is everything you would expect him to be and makes the visit special for each member of the family! Photos are taken and sold after for an expected fee that matches the value of a child’s first meeting with Santa. Phots are offered for digital download as well.

TIPS: Bing something to occupy kids in line- portable video game, computer tablet or smartphone for entertainment, an old fashioned book, or other. They will be bored and irritable. Don’t wear a heavy winter coat, it’s incredibly warm and you are surrounded by other warm bodies. Bring your patience and kindness, no one will appreciate your being rude. Definitely visit the bathroom BEFORE getting in line, even if they say they don’t have to go. Once you get out of line, you start ALL OVER AGAIN from the beginning. wear comfortable shoes, you will be standing OVER AN HOUR. DO NOT BRING ANIMALS EXCEPT FOR LEGIT SERVICE ANIMALS. Bring a water bottle, they will inevitably get thirsty along the way. Shop after your visit, you won’t want to carry a bag with you that whole time.

Great experience

By Kevin D |

Great customer service. I had purchased a Raymond Weil watch online and needed to have some links removed. I went into the store and Ms Luz at the Bulova watch counter was great. She was friendly, smiled and obviously likes her job. She directed me where I needed to go. The normal person who removes the links was not there but another gentleman was there who was able to do it for me. He even explained and displayed to me how the links are removed. He was extremely helpful and kind. Was just a great experience all around. Makes you miss the pre pandemic days. Thank you Macy’s and employees for making my day.

Shopping

By sfraghi2015 |

A morning to spend among the 7 floors of the building. All brands of clothing and perfumery are present. Yes they can do some good business.

Fun

By HairByCharles |

We had a lot of fun looking at so much we could not afford. Prices on average clothing qnd merchandise is about the same in all stores. This store has everything. We enjoyed looking around.

A large department store with something to suit all tastes.

By Karrempje |

Enough to see, but in some places faded glory. Broken carpet, narrow wooden escalators and not everything is clearly indicated. The ground floor is beautiful, but the higher you go in the building, the worse the maintenance. Nice to see.

Department Store

By Noodle Arms |

Had to visit whilst in New York for the first time but it is just a department store. If you’re not into shopping (like us) it’s nothing magical once you’re inside but we’re probably the wrong audience.

There are some very cool original wooden escalators though and the Christmas decorations are lovely.

By EliteTravellers |

Xmas holidays so if ourse have to window watch and shop at Macy’s flagship store in the City. Rainy but warm day and music shoppers tourists and window displays.

Nice to see again

By Andy P |

Great place to look round with plenty of choices in all depts. need a full morning/afternoon and a full wallet to really appreciate!

Fab place but busy!

By ShaneFinnPhotography |

Well this is the worlds biggest store apparently but didn't seem like it for us in our honest opinion but there you go still worth a visit. We were here at Christmas an it was open til 2 am which later in the evening it was a pleaseant shopping experience but we returned a couple of days later omg it was manic, but it's Christmas and any other premier store in the world that time would be the same.
Cute feature of the dog in the window display with his nose outside when after it was touched he scracthed himself. staff were very friendly and excellent throughout.

Best place to buy clothes

By weary traveller |

Great place to get bargains in all departments. Ralph Lauren clothes were good price as were toys
You need to come with lot of time as it’s very big store and you must visit all the floors . The staff were all very helpful
Will come back when in NYC next time

Beautiful store

By Bestadidas_Traveller |

We visited the Macys store in NYC during December. The window displays were very well crafted. The associates were very friendly and if the lines grew too long another associate would come over and direct customers to another register they would open. We found some great deals. There were several restaurants and a coffee shop inside the store. The wooden escalators were very cool and the Christmas decorations hanging from the ceiling added to the atmosphere. I would highly recommend going in to Macys, even just to walk around.

Lunch at Macy”s Resturant

By florap1970 |

Set back in the 30”s a lovely setting, excellent service and great food!
Absolutely loved it, thought it was going to be expensive but it was reasonably priced

Beautiful holiday decorations

By boymomdfw |

The holiday square on the bottom floor was so neat with different vendors! I had a good time shopping and seeing all the decorations.

Became our go to place for shopping

By Brucethealien |

We visited Macys just on a whim as we were passing and it’s famous, we actually ended up picking up a few items we needed and others as gifts for family. I loved the traditional wooden escalators. The cashier/salesman was super friendly and when he heard out English accents he started asking about Halloween in the UK (it was a few days away) and how do we celebrate etc he was explaining about the Macy’s Halloween and New Years parades and how different department stores in the uk are to the US.

It actually became our go to place on our trip my Wife actually went there every day of our stay in New York.

Prices were a little more than you would pay elsewhere but that’s to be expected although we did find several bargains and reduced items.

Would definitely recommend

Nothing special although some deals to be had

By Mark |

Overall similar to a big John Lewis in the UK although there were some good prices on some products if you look carefully e.g. New Balance trainers were 30% cheaper. There were also some high end clothing brands you wouldn’t get in UK. We found customer service in the store to be good contrary to some reports. We were disappointed with Christmas display. If you are looking for something different try the Winter Market, Bryant Park for lots of unique little ‘pop-ups’

Great iconic shop

By Eva T |

Our first visit to NYC and we found it on the second day of our stay. The main entry from Herald Square had fab decoration and on the pavement was plaque commemorating centennial of the shop. The windows on W 34th St made me curious what I can find inside and it was a lot. On this side of the beautiful building (I loved it) we found plaque commemorating the beginning of motion pictures in April 1896! It's huge, the goods were priced OK, some more expensive than others but I think everybody could find something. Next time in NYC I will take bigger luggage and visit it again.

Great store, lot's of choices

By DutchMachine |

Loved the Macy's. You can spend the whole day here. 9 floors of clothing and other items. Items were reasonably priced as well.

Would recommend a visit if in the area.

For the offbeat tourist

By Sachin K |

Visiting Macy’s Herald Square is meant for the offbeat tourist. It has an outside sign which claims it to be the world’s largest store. Upon visiting inside one is not surprised by the magnitude of the store complex. One needs to take the escalators all the way to the top floor to get a true magnitude of this entire complex. One will find rarely seen wooden escalators on the top floors. There are several food joints at various levels as well. Restrooms are clean. Would certainly very highly recommend visiting this store complex to any traveler.

Perfect for Luxury Shoppers

By LexiV |

This 9 floor retail mecca contains lots of luxury brand goods, but we're not really big shoppers so we mostly just hung out in the furniture department (top floor) to take a load off. The wooden escalators throughout are very cool and the kids floor had some fun displays. It was very difficult to find the bathrooms. Neither signage and employees were helpful in this respect.

Horrible experience

By Emma W |

I was so excited to visit Macy’s for the first time in New York. While waiting in line to pay for some items, I reached into my coat pocket to grab my phone. My back was to the other people in line and a Macy’s worker who was walking towards me. The worker had walked into my elbow as I had just reached my phone. As I had apologised as I did not see him walk around the corner, he came up to my face and demanded an apology and I said that I did not see you coming and was reaching for my phone. The Macy’s worker then proceeded to call me a colourful word that starts with C and ends in T. I immediately left and no other worker at the till had asked was I okay as it made me very upset.

10% off for international traveller

By big d |

Always love visiting Macy’s . The store is amazing and the staff are friendly.
Great bar and grill on the basement floor and also a McDonalds in the store.
Don’t forget internationally travellers can get a 10% off ticket which you can pick up at customer service.

Shopping in NEw York

By scott |

An amazing store for shopping, everything you need under the one roof with some amazing bargains especially as it’s the holidays so extra discounts

Large department store

By Dr_Iris_B |

No visit to New York is complete without shopping at Macys this is quite an establishment and an “old school” department store which I tend to get lost in and have difficulties finding the things I am looking for…..

Most underwhelming and disappointing store to visit

By Blottotravels |

I agree with quite a few other British reviewers on here that Macy’s overall is quite underwhelming and I was disappointed with it.

Hearing lots of things about Macy’s and a sign outside saying it’s the largest store in the world, I expected to be excited and wowed inside but it was very mehh. This is no where close to the impressive displays of Selfridges, Libertys or Harrods in London and thinking about it you don’t see people walking around with Macy’s shopping bags much either.

There was nothing unique on sale at Macy’s that I couldn’t get anywhere else, displays seemed dated, layout of the store felt busy and the gift shop area had empty shelves and just didn’t seem to have much atmosphere around - I thought it would be heaving with tourists but there was barely anyone there.

The whole place just seemed to lack energy and design and was most definitely not luxurious. The public toilets on the lower floor was also pretty disgusting for a supposedly fancy department store (although not sure if that was just public toilets in New York)

Overall we didn’t buy anything there except for a starbucks drink, would never visit again or recommend for a shopping experience.

Santa returns later

By LaVa Touristik |

Even this flagship store (with its large vacant spaces on several floors) is a clear reminder of the downside of online shopping and shows what an overly broad range of products does to customers.

Nevertheless, it is and remains a time-honored place that you should visit just for the wooden escalators (even if - as was the case with us when we visited in January - Santa will not be visiting again until November 2024).

Experienced the magic of Macys!

By shoreiii |

I have to admit I never realized the high end brands and the sheer size of this Macy's. Definitely worth the trip and when we watch the parade every year we will remember our trip to this location.

Large assortment - part of sightseeing

By retpanda |

If you go to NYC for shopping , Macy’s should be on your list too. Large assortment but keep in mind that taste might differ from what you expect in Europe. Huge department with fragrances and make up of international brands.

GRANDDAUGHTERS LOVED IT!

By RuSaBu |

Visiting the largest department store in the country was one of the highlights of my teenage granddaughters' trip. 2.5 million sq. ft. and they took me down every aisle. :) Besides shopping, we were interested to ride the original wooden escalators to several floors. And there's a Toys R Us store inside the store and a sit down restaurant, as well as beautiful designer handbags, stunning clothing, and anything else you can imagine.

Much less interesting than before

By Chris Martin |

Macy's biggest store in the world but coming on black friday is not a good idea c is black people and endless waiting at the checkouts. The balances of 30 to 50% less interesting than before which could go up to less than 80% even a few years ago. There is something for all styles and budget we still find its happiness especially levis for all morphologies and minus 40%. For my part for the jeans and sweatshirts polo shirts I go to the Kids RL And TH department is cheaper than the women's department. And nice stuff without falling into the teen style.🩷 macys.

macy's

By Jonathan C. |

Macy's on 34th street! The setting of the classic movie, the final destination of the Thanksgiving Day parade, and some of my favorite holiday window displays!

Great Store & Buys

By Tanya T. |

We had to stop at Macy's because we didn't pack smart and needed warmer clothes. I found the best deals and markdowns in the juniors section and got a nice "NY" sweater for about $15. This is also a great place to use public restrooms (on the lower level) when you're out and about because most places do not offer this. The holiday decorations were still being put up during our visit. Don't miss the window displays!

Fields Good Chicken Pop-Up on The Bottom Level Of Macy's is DELICIOUS!!!

By Steven Smith |

I stumbled into Macy's and found this incredible new pop-up at the basement level of Macy's. The pop-up is near the BIG piano. I got the Mediterranean bowl and it was the best bowl I have ever eaten!!!!! Such flavorful chicken, I can't stop thinking about it. --I would highly recommend you going to try it out, it is a light blue food truck with really nice employees who helped me walk through the menu. I will make sure to keep on coming back!

Amazing

By Tammi C |

Had to shop at Macy’s while on a girls trip to NYC! What a fun time we had! It’s huge! We got lost in the store & exited on a complete different street than we entered. It’s beautiful inside & outside. Employees were friendly & helpful. Fun place to visit!!

Wooden operational escalators

By Bea |

Macy's offers 12 floors with shopping opportunities for women, men and children.
What I loved most were the original wooden escalators. The escalators were built between 1920 and 1930 by the Otis Elevator Company, and they are still operational.

Glad I went but probably wouldn’t return

By RKLP |

Too big and very bitty, hard to find items. Juniors Nike items were in several places. Shoe salon was really good though.

"THE" Iconic Macy's: Souvenir Shop in Basement, BIG Piano & Wooden Escalators

By LiveAGr8Story |

Yes, it is a Macy's store, however, it is so worth stopping at if you go downstairs to the Souvenir shop, find the "BIG" movie piano, and check out the wooden escalators. Outside brings memories of Miracle on 34th Street, watching the Macy's Day Parade, and Christmas in Herald's Square snow globes.

Awful service!

By Retired |

We went to Macy's to purchase a suitcase. In the luggage department at top of the store we found plenty of options. The service however was terrible. There was no help in finding the right item. When we came to the counter we were ignored for nearly 10minutes because the clerk was busy talking to another staff member. When we asked for assistance to find some accessory items, he pointed vaguely down the store and turned away. We found the items we wanted with some difficulty and approached the counter once more. We were totally ignored, and after more than 5 minutes we left the store without these items.
I agree with other rewievers that Macy's is not at specially remarkable department store, and with this kind of customer treatment, I think ther future looks dim.
We will never shop there again, and we recommend that the whole staff of the department should be replaced!

Big and beautiful

By Ramesh A |

This is a huge store located closer to the Empire State Building around the Times Square area. As you enter the store, you will be amazed by the number of floors they have. No wonder they call this the biggest Macy's store. The collection is awesome, and we were able to find what we need. The prices are definitely balanced and also to meet the New York area. This staff is friendly and helpful. I see a lot of customers around 7:30 p.m. and it looks like a busy store. We are in need of any clothing. I would strongly recommend this place to get will priced clothing.

Nice to sit around

By Vam |

Really nice to go sit in front of the store. There is always a nice decoration. Sometimes there is even live music you can enjoy for free. It can get crowded.

The Wooden Escalator!

By TheFussyTeenager |

The main reason I came here was to see the wooden escalator, but we did a lap of the Toys ‘R’ Us too seeing as it’s not with us anymore!

World's Largest Store

By Michael M |

The World's Largest Store according to the big red sign on the front of the building. We go to Macy's each time we visit New York, and we always enjoy it. The vast size of the store and range of merchandise is always great to see.

Bargains galore

By C&P |

We visited here 3 times during our stay as the bargains were so good! Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren to name a few. 60% off UK prices.

A rainy day in NYC

By carltaylor18 |

Weather in NYC was horrible so we headed for Macy's to spend a few hours seeing what all the fuss is about ...

A very interesting, and huge, shop and we enjoyed the experience ending in buying presents for all the family at reasonable prices

Well worth the trip

I would definitely stay near here again. Great deals and fab shopping

By coconutugly |

For me and my wallet this is my favorite shopping store. Such great deals and so much fun indoors . Helpful staff. We were there around Black Friday, so trillions and of people and not enough changing rooms. Definitely would stay near here next time!!!!

Paradise for shopping

By The Swiss Nomad |

My girlfriend and I came to Macy's twice because, as every girl, she loves shopping.
The place is massive, we actually got lost a few times and had to ask for directions.
I despise shopping but I have to admit they had a great selection of clothes and apparel for every taste, plus countless people ready to help you find what you are looking for or give you pieces of advice.
Overall a wonderful building with a vast selection of items for every taste.

Friendly service

I shop at this Macys usually 3 times a year. Always one of those visits is during the holidays. The customer service is usually 3 rate, and rude. This time the service was friendly, helpful and engaging. Maybe because the holiday rush was over. But this was by far my best experience at the Herald Square store.

NEVER SHOP ON MACYS.COM

By Chanel H |

NEVER SHOP ON MACYS.COM. They will steal your money and tell you that they can never refund you ever again, I literally just got that email. They lost my package and didn't do anything about. They're telling me that they can't do anything and they won't be able to refund me on my account. I will be calling my bank to get my refund since I still don't have my product either. These people really are thieves like some of the other reviews are saying. I really used to like Macy's but I guess they really are about to go out of business soon. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Ride the escalators

By Traveller |

I visited Macy's on Black Friday (November 2019). It was open until midnight. I rode the escalators up and down and had a latte on the 3rd floor Starbucks. It was really crowded. Macy's during holiday time is a "must see".

By Elizangela R |

A more elite shopping with major international brands such as Saint Laurent, Dior, Burberry, Ferragamo and other major brands, the shopping also has a beautiful dining square

Food Court in Basement is Great!!!

By Jeremy T |

Had the Field Cobb Salad from Fields Good Chicken and it was DELICIOUS! Really fresh ingredients and juicy chicken! There are several different "food trucks" downstairs including Little Beet and Melt Shop and they are all great. Definitely check it out while you're at Macy's!

Huge

By Acineto |

I noticed the store when I was in the Empire State Building and ended up stopping by since it was so close. I was there in December so there was a market outside in Herald Square. The store has multiple levels and spreads out across the entire block. It is very easy to get lost particularly if you're not familiar with the layout of the store.
There were also quite a few different brands in store so there was a lot of options to choose from. There were also a few food places located in the store.
I didn't manage to look through the entire building as I was out of time but it could easily be a whole day activity if you wanted to browse the entire store.

Best store in the world

By William B |

I have been to a whole lot of stores in my lige, and this must be the best. They have averything for he/she. I loved the Ralph lauren mens store, and the perfume selection.

Bad customer service

By Maha A |

I love to shop at Macy’s NY, but today I went there and each floor has one cashier and several employees on each floor just walking around. The cashier pushed me to go to another station to pay and nobody was there and when I asked one of the employees on the floor she gave me an attitude and was very rude. Even the lady who was working in the fitting room, was talking to customers with an attitude and ordering the customers to bring all the items out hanged, she was ordering not asking nicely. Customer service is really bad and customers not treated with respect.
Macy’s better get their employees trained on how to treat customers with respect and take care of business.

Waste of time

By Julia E |

Very unfriendly, condescending service. Worse vibe, better invest time in something else. The 1 star is there for the shop window decoration, which is really worth seeing.

Shopping experience

By Susie Q |

The Christmas lights and fantastic ‘real’ sales where existing stock has discounts applied are just fantastic. Service is fast even when very busy. Lovely touch for the Christmas Grotto with elves keen to help.

One of a kind

By panpanda |

Macy's flagship store is a sight to behold. Many stories, enormous with everything you can imagine to buy. So many restaurants inside the store, too.

Absolutely amazing

By Jeffery J |

My spouse and I are senior citizens. We visited Santa land on the 8 th floor of Macys. You need a reservation to enter but it is totally free of charge. The line was long and we were not going to wait and we didn't want to take up space that a child might want. Well Santa's elves recommended that we not leave and encouraged us to stay. We were so glad they did. This Santa land is amazing and beautiful. My wife and I sat with Santa and had our picture taken. The display is beautifully done and actually takes about 30 to 45 minutes to see. Everyone working from the elves to Mrs. Claus were absolutely amazing and in perfect holiday mode. We really were impressed. Thank you Macys for giving us a holiday experience that was really unexpected. Santa said bringing me everything that I asked for. Can't wait!

Lots to see/shop at Macys

By Cindy L |

Another stop I make whenever I am in NYC. A great selection of clothes, beauty products, handbags, etc. They also have places where you can grab a bite to eat.

Over priced, terrible service, and bad attitude

By Michael A |

I visited Macy & Co. on a Monday morning. The staff was disinterested at best and frequently rude. The furniture and clothing were overpriced. The furniture looked like it came from the 70's store. It looked more like old furniture I wanted to replace than new furniture to buy. Macy & Co. is living off its past glory. Avoid this department store at all costs! However, there are lots of shopping venues nearby.

Awesome Landmark

By Eve |

I passed by the Herald Square daily while i stayed in Hotel Pennsylvania .It is right accross Macy's Department Store and during Christmas , the area has a festive mood.you will see the square once you exit Macy's on Broadway street and you will cross it on your way to Empire State Bulding.such an amazing place to be during Christmas.

Crap

By Sally T |

I ordered online a month ago and have not heard from then since.Everyone beware of Macy online site because it's most dishonest site and dare I say it's a scam. They get your money and that's it.i shop walmart and belk and they keep in touch telling you when your order will arrive. There needs to be an investigation of macys site but no one will ever do it.

Big Department Store..

By Exceedingly Seedy |

Literally just a big department store - think Debenhams or somewhere equally cloying in its over use of perfume but spread inexplicably across about 9 floors.

The place has that claustrophobic Saturday shopping with your girlfriend whilst the football is on feeling.

Nice Christmas decorations though and some unusual wooden escalators.

Other than that, it’s just another successful monument to consumerism and marketing.

Really loud music

By Mara |

Be ready to scream otherwise they can't hear you. I went to the online/ customer service area to pick up an item, the line it moved ok, but omg when the time came for me to ask questions about the item I got, I was literally shouting, they have the music so loud that is impossible to talk in a normal voice, they can't hear what the customer is saying, the other persons around me were also loud trying to communicate with the employees. It's NOT the music in the store, in this dept the employees play their own music and is very loud and annoying. it's customer service, customers go there to talk, ask questions etc, I love the store and I have been a shopper for many years but sorry this department need to turn off that music

Great place to shop

By K M |

Been here several times over the years and it never disappoints. The Christmas window and internal decorations are stunning. We particularly like how they have embraced the age of the building, keeping the old wooden escalators. We were lucky in hitting black Friday delas and grabbed a bargain. Store workers are really helpful and friendly.

Great Cafe

By Christopher  |

I cannot begin to tell you what a treat it is to visit Macy’s in Manhattan - you spend lots of money there, even though you only visit to browse. The cafe on the second floor was fantastic - and surprisingly cheap.

Nightmare on 34th Street- Santaland

By AVI |

The rude staff doesn’t honor their express reservation, says it’s full then sends you to a never ending spiral - 3 hour wait- to Santa.

Throughout the line elves, are constantly telling you to move up and will stop and repeatedly say it to you until you’re touching the person in front of you and the same with the person behind you. Feel like cattle being crammed in to the space. There is a complete disregard that children are the main demographic and they need space to move.
When I asked one of the elves where the bathroom was, she said that if I got off the line, I would have to do the line all over again. There is no bathroom on the 8th floor.

The line goes past the fire exit through back way halls, towards their financial office and back. Some hallways have fans, others do not and they are hot and lack ventilation. There is nothing to see through these hallways. Some monitors are up but they just had the Santaland promo. If you say anything to bc the staff about the line they either tell you that you’re almost there or that you should have come on an earlier date.
This might still be appealing to those who are visiting NYC for the first time and want to go to Santaland. But at best, this has turned in to a one-and-done experience. When you finally get to Santa everyone is so tired and it shows in the photos.

When expressing my concerns to the manager, Mark, he asked if I was done analyzing their business plan and later continued to disregard my comments and mentioned that this is a free service.

The entire experience ruins Christmas and makes you realize that they are just a business looking to exploit the holiday. This had been a family tradition but we will be moving it elsewhere.

-On To Better Things

Experience....

By Boschie |

Located near Penn Station and within walking distance of the Empire State Building and Bryant Park.

You don’t have to buy a thing—just walking through the store is an experience in itself. Take in the scents of perfume, admire the fashion displays, and feel like a kid again in the toy section. Every floor offers something unique.

If you’re on the sixth floor, be sure to check out the wooden escalators, installed in the 1920s. It's hard to believe they're still running so smoothly after all these years—an iconic piece of retail history still in motion!

Great Shopping

By mikesierra |

No visit to New York would be complete without a visit to Macy's, particularly from late November, when the shop windows facing Herald Square at superbly decorated for Christmas, as is the ground floor of the store. If you are an International visitor, go to the Visitors Desk on the upper level of the ground floor with your passport (or a copy) to get a Visitors Pass giving you a 10% discount. Don't miss the Big Piano on the Lower Level!

Underwhelming

By Harriet |

I was so excited to shop at the famous Macy’s. I wanted to buy a soft toy, and after being sent to the wrong floor by a member of staff, I eventually found a small selection to choose from. I was shocked at the lack of toys, and the ones they had in stock. Maybe American children don’t enjoy soft toys?

The escalators also shocked me. For a store which hosts premium brands such as Burberry, Ralph Lauren and Louis Vuitton, you’d expect a bit of luxury! The escalators are filthy- not too much better than the subway. They need a good clean. In the UK, department stores like House of Fraser, John Lewis, and Harvey Nichols don’t seem to have such filthy escalators, so maintenance is more than achievable.

My biggest peeve was the absence of ANYWHERE to sit and have a coffee. With over 7 floors of shopping, you will get tired. Normally you’d take a break and have a drink, but everywhere was closed or had closed off the seating area. I’ve noticed this a lot in NYC at the moment and it really spoils things. Once I was tired, the joy of shopping was gone. I left early, searching for somewhere to rest. I’d have loved to have spent more time there, but it just doesn’t seem to have the capacity to host shoppers for a full day of shopping. When I purchased something , the server kept mumbling and then shot me a filthy look for not donating or tipping or whatever I’d been asked to do. Is it really so hard to be friendly and talk clearly?

I was really excited but I found it very underwhelming.

Huge Store with a great Variety of Quality Goods

By Michael W |

Macy's is located on Broadway between West 34th and West 35th Streets. Our hotel was on West 35th so this was only a short walk for us. As soon as you enter it is clear that this store is huge. There are 11 floors accessed by escalators and lifts. We used the escalators to go to the top floor. On the higher levels there are a series of older wooden escalators which are a little creaky and wobbly. Each of the departments are on a truly impressive and massive scale in fact on do not know how shoppers can make up their minds with so many varieties of goods on sales. many of the items although very attractive & of high quality are pricey.

Macy's Christmas Windows

By PaleoGypsy |

Macy's Christmas windows are a sight to see. People from all over the world flock here during the holiday season to see them, as they are iconic to the American retail culture. Depending upon the time you decide to visit, be prepared for the huge crowds. You'll have to go with the flow in this part of NYC. Don't be surprised if you have to stand in line and wait your turn to see the displays. This Macy's Store, inside and out, is absolutely stunning. The retail apace is multi-storied and brightly lit.

Nice Christmas Events Store

By José Miguel Moreno Rico |

Macy´s is not very different compared with others big Department Store, but it offers a lot of opportunities to see and buy. Santa´s train at 8th floor is perfect for kids (and seniors). The Christmas Store at 9th floor is amazing with a great variety of items nicely exposed. Imposible to avoid the temptation... And Herald Square is wonderful, tipically NewYorker and nicely decorated during these dates.

If you don't have to go shopping, don't go in.

By Maria Elena T |

Very normal shopping center inferior to many others. Not well organized and the electronics - computer department is missing.

VERY NICE SHOPPING, ONE DOES NOT LEAVE WITHOUT A PURCHASE!!!

By Jessi Lorefice |

VERY NICE SHOPPING, WE COULD SEE IT DECORATED FOR CHRISTMAS. INSIDE IT IS VERY SPACIOUS, MANY BUSINESSES WITH GOOD PRICES, AND THE TRUTH IS THAT ONE CAN NOT LEAVE WITHOUT BUYING SOMETHING!!!

Macy's always a great shopping experience

In NY I found it difficult to find open stores. Luckily I found exactly what I needed at Macy's and the staff was very helpful and nice

Be sure to plan if you want to shop for clothes.

By Monte C |

Always worth a visit. Even designer goods are available here for a good price and are often reduced again. Whether for children, men or women.

A vast emporium

By Peeceecee |

We just went in to have a look around and to say we had been there! It is enormous and makes Selfridges in London look like a corner shop!

Macy’s Santaland first visit

By Sally L |

I was very excited to come to Macy’s Santaland given all of the glowing reviews I have read about it. I frankly couldn’t be more disappointed. My family and I waited a total of 2 1/2 hours to see Santa and while the experience of seeing him was lovely, the few animatronics and decorations absolutely do not justify waiting in line for that ridiculous amount of time. It was a “one and done” for us. My teenage daughter’s advice: “if you’re reading this while in line, get out now!“ lol. It would have been very much appreciated if the elves had been able to give us any type of estimate of how long we were going to be waiting. They kept saying that we were getting close, when in reality still had an hour and a half left to wait. Best of luck if you’re still waiting...

DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM MACY'S ONLINE

By Geta C |

Absolutely atrocious fulfillment and customer service. 18 days out from ordering, having called several times and gotten promises of reshipment, I wound up with zero. Customer service follows rote scripts and inflexible rules, but doesn't address or follow up on your case. Only by talking to a supervisor did I find out they no longer even carry the product I ordered.

This appears to be the product of outsourcing plus not caring or having the bandwidth to deal with this line of their business. I feel sorry for the front line workers I spoke with in Asia who seem willing to help but are not empowered by the company to actually fix problems.

Santa-land Excellent. The Walnut Room NOT so much. Chicago, IL

By Tina M |

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 5 Stars! Santaland was so much fun! The line went quickly. Lots of thing to look at while the little ones wait. Santaland is in the 5th floor!
Seventh floor is The Walnut Room. My review is on Yelp. I will say the build your own Santa dessert fun fun!

Extensive Range of Goods

By SJE99 |

We enjoy going to Macys whenever we are in New York. It is a great department store with an extensive range of goods in all areas of the home and personal life. It is great that they have retained part of the history of the store with the wooden escalators within the store, despite the modernisation that has been done. The only suggestion that could improve the store would be to have better quality restaurants in store, similar to the Myer Department Store in Bourke Street Mall, Melbourne, Australia. A better quality cafe for a meal choice would save us from leaving the store to eat elsewhere.

Hello, anybody here...?

By Marta A |

Outrageously bad service. The staff are uninformed about where the visitor centre is, what sizing is available, what tax refund may be and, in general, the staff are NOT there. At least not on a Sunday afternoon, like...40 days before Christmas. Really? The same goes for the restaurant on the 7th floor - got to wait 10 mins for the check - really? This is not fine dining, this is just a department store restaurant! Almost empty when we were there.

Anyway, quite good markdowns on some products now that the sales have started, but in general, coming from Europe, with the current exchange rate, the deals won’t knock you out. The golden era of cheap shopping in the States for Europeans seems to be over now. But the old escalators are a must-see - you can feel like an art-deco lady for a moment, despite all these too-short jeans (no clear lenght size information available and the staff don’t have a clue how to find you a pair that fits your length).

The triumph of shopping

By 𝐴𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑙𝑜 𝐷'𝐴𝑔𝑜𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑜 🇮🇹 |

Having time available, despite not being a lover of shopping but attracted by its fame, I visited this historic department store. I went up and down the escalators discovering huge floors where you can find not only clothing, but also many products from other product categories. It is probably more characteristic at Christmas, but in summer, if you don't have particular shopping needs, a quick visit is recommended.

Nice Store

By Amber B |

The store is exceptional and I really enjoyed the experience in the store! However, I am giving a average review based on the customer service.

The store disappointed due to the high prices applied.

By adriana |

The department store was once a shopping reference in MANHATTAN. Today, prices are high and the store is empty. Few areas of promotion, yet high prices. The 1st floor is the most visited because of cosmetics, perfumes and brands. The service was great.
In the departments, there are few people available for assistance. Overall, it was a little disappointing.
On the top floor there is a nice restaurant for happy hour or dinner.

Macy’s Department Store

Macy’s Department Store is a real fixture in Manhattan. It is typically crowded although not so much since Covid. Recommended.

Integral part of every visit to NYC

By IndyKevin317 |

We come here every time we are in NYC. The store is so big and they give you so much to choose from. Visiting Macy's is just an integral part of every visit to NYC. Over the years we have even gotten to know a few store associates and we try to find them just to say hello.

Macy’s=Wowza

By ldklopf |

Macy’s is an amazing huge store with a variety of so many things! There are just so many people in and out (not the store’s fault), so it can be difficult to navigate. Overall was a cool experience!

We shopped in Macy’s today on a visit to NYC from Scotland. We received amazing service from Sam in kids department. He was friendly helpful and professional. Sam made our visit he was exceptional. Well done to Macy’s and Sam - visiting NYC make sure you shop here jx

Mall with everything.

By Sajjad R |

Macy’s is the store for all apparel and otherwise needs for men and women. At 34th street store it is largest store and had nearly 9 floors of shopping and a whole block of store. Designers in it are so many and so many choices to choose from. Almost always you can have some good bargains to grab and enjoy.

Iconic store.

By CumfyCritter |

If you're in New York and enjoy a bit of shopping, or even just a wander, then Macy's is a great place to visit. Massive Department store with reasonable prices and it was absolutely beautiful at Christmas. The windows were superb and we enjoyed just browsing for a little while.

The magic of SantaLand and Holiday Lane

By daisyferret1 |

We stopped into Macy's during our holiday visit to NYC for Christmas 2021. Macy's always gets us in the holiday spirit!

We stopped at Macy's this winter to get our fill of holiday spirit and cheer. This year a visit with Santa or SantaLand required reservations. We had reservations for 11am (Macy's opened at 10am). We shopped around holiday lane, looked at the window displays, checked out the Toys R Us section and did the Santa Mail box while we waited for our reservation time at SantaLand. SantaLand was just as I remembererd it from several years back. It is a magical experience for children and adults alike. Masks were required in SantaLand and while visiting Santa this year. Santa was also behind plexi-glass and behind a desk area. Children could NOT sit on his lap. We were OK with this, but a tad disappointed. We did NOT want to purchase a picture of our children with Santa since everyone including Santa was wearing a mask!

Overall, Macy's in Herald Square is like no other during the holiday season. The windows are fascinating. The interior décor is breathtaking. SantaLand is magical. Holiday Lane here is HUGE! You can find almost any kind of ornament here. They also have a nice Anna Lee section, which I absolutely adore. This Macy's has SEVERAL FLOORS and eateries within. Check out the old wooden escalators while you are there! This deparetment store is 163 year old. That fact in itself is remarkable and makes this Macy's worthy of a visit. I would recommend and we will be back!

Always an interesting amount of discounts!

By Sigrid Van Tol-Schakel |

Beautiful and many discounts. It is a linked department store with a wooden escalator, but soooo worth a visit. I go in more often and always.

Be careful in online ordering from Macy's

By William B |

I ordered 3 online Christmas gift cards totaling $300. I got an email later in the day that the order had been canceled and I was asked to call the "Consumer protection team," which I did. In a series of phone conversations with foreign-accented, barely understandable individuals, I could never get a clear understanding of why the order was canceled. My PayPal account I used to pay for the order had a balance of over $27,000. I suspect the emails and calls might have been fraud spoofing. I've canceled my account with Macy's and do not intend to order from them again. Beware.

No control over delivery

By Passenger584463 |

Do not order furniture related products on line. They never delivered and can’t reach THEIR vendor. It’s maddening. Thanks

Mediocre

By Patrick |

I query whether it's the acclaimed world's biggest store!?
I think Selfridges in London is bigger (It would certainly be a lot classier).

Bit like a very big Debenhams. Got some Hilfiger jeans for $40.

THE NY department store

By Delnyon |

Crowded on this rainy day in December but really worth a visit.
Try to go directly to the 9th floor to enjoy the Christmas decorations(70%off on that day!) and enjoy the rest of this huge department store, probably the biggest in town.

Department Store

Experiences of New York

By Mnkand |

In New York, more than visits are experiences. The Macy's Herald Square area is a busy service area with plenty of dining and Shopping places. We really liked Macy's and spent time also on the eighth floor in the Outlet area where you can find brands at very good prices.

Macy's Now

By Irina |

Macy's Herald Square in Manhattan NYC is one of the largest -- and one of the oldest -- department stores in the US. It was built and opened as a department store in this location in 1902. By now, the building was renovated multiple times.

But it still looks very dated: very low ceilings, poor ventilation and lighting, overall subdued colors of the interior. Even the old wooden escalator (sic!) is still in operation! After a few years, I again visited Macy's last month -- and found pretty much the same as I saw before, as far as its interior design and decor, and general ambiance in it. The store wasn't busy.

But Macy's getting ready for spring, regardless -- and in the ladies apparel departments, I could see some new fashion ideas -- spring styles and brighter colors. Famous brands, too -- DKNY, RL, CK, and many others. The staff I talked to were polite and helpful with directions to several departments. The store is huge -- its retail space is 1.25 million square feet (116,000 sq m)!

Hopefully, Macy's will look more cheerful -- and busier! -- with a lighter, sunnier, and warmer season coming up, and with more customers shopping in this flagship department store.

If you love Thanksgiving Day Parade and iconic Dept. stores this is a must see inside and out!!

By travelinspiration |

Recently visited on a weekday evening, family of 5. Grew up watching parade so always wanted to see this sight! The outside is amazing, pretty lights in evening but inside also amazing - 10 stories I couldn't believe it and old timey escalator, we all loved it!!!

Ignored if from Abroad!

By R M |

Living in the UK with many Flagship Stores, all of whom go above & beyond in customer service. I was left totally bemused by the sheer disregard of Macy's International helpline. I had purchased a Dublin Beverage Dispenser when washing the foot fell off, it was only glued on!!!

Christmas Shopping

By Aaron H |

We visited Macy's at Herald Square for some Christmas shopping. The store is nice and they have pretty much every thing you will ever want or need. We picked up some perfume for my mom and a cell phone accessory for my sister. We browsed many departments of the store. I enjoyed the classic wooden escalators.

Nice staff but generally disappointing

By Kevin N |

We were looking forward to visiting Macy's but in truth it just felt like any other department store. There were a few eateries spread around but none of them were great and nothing they sold was out of the ordinary. Lovely old wooden escalators though.

I Love Macy's

By HazelH72 |

I don't think I ever visit New York and do not come to Macy's- I think it is a fabulous store. I also don't think I ever visit and do not buy something - I especially like the occasion dresses - the choice and quality is amazing. This time I think we spent nearly 5 hours in the store and still didn't cover all the floors. Remember all tourists they will give you a discount if you ask for one.

Great Store....But

By Scottie57 |

I've visited Macy's in Herald Square many times over the years but this time I found it disappointing. In many of Ladies depts most of the clothes were thrown onto tables and it made it hard to tell what was on the offer per table info and what wasn't.
Shopping in their household dept I asked two young women for assistance and found them to be rude, cocky and generally thinking they were being funny. If I wanted fun and comedy I'd head to a comedy store.
Staff in Ladies, Cosmetics and Mens depts very helpful and generous with their discounts. I love that they still have some of the old charm of the wooden escalators on some floors.
At times on some of the floors it looked a little disjointed and there didn't seem as much selection of clothing or shoes.
Thankfully I found a beautiful dress, shoes, sandals, ladies tops and makeup.

Very good

By Eduart D |

Very good exoerience and good prices, and service. Especially the guys of Ralph Lauren and Tommy hilfiger. Also they offer discount for the visitors.

What a shop!

If I knew that there was going to be so much stuff in this shop I would of brought more holiday spends!

It was raining so we thought we would visit the famous Macy’s! The shop is so big that it doesn’t feel busy! Clothes weren’t too expensive and there was some great deals on!

I wanna come back!

Historic building that is a great place to visit at Christmas time

By Bill R |

Historic building that is a great place to visit at Christmas time. We arrived after New Years Day and unfortunately they had already taken down their Christmas window displays. They did have a lot of sales of course and it is just a massive department store. Then of course you have the wooden escalators!!!

Very tired looking store

By DeliciousDelilah |

Friends told us we 'had' to visit Macy's. Why? beats me!. In the end we visited to use the restrooms, and had a good look round. No great logic to the layout of the place. Disinterested staff when we made a half-hearted attempt to buy footwear. Ancient, very creeky elevators and escalators. We heard that there are plans afoot to build over Macy's yet another tall building. This sort of engineering project fascinates us, and New York is very good at this sort of project. Restrooms were very good, when we found them!

Memorable Macy’s

By bkute65 |

Visiting this historic anchor of Macy’s was everything that I dreamed of! The Christmas windows were MAGNIFICENT! The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. We ate a delicious lunch at Stella’s. And then we ride the historic WOODEN escalator downstairs (from 1904 the concierge shared).

Terrible Santa Visit!

By Jennifer M |

I made Santa reservations and thought it would be a highlight of our trip- it ended up being the worst experience imaginable. The elves lacked personality, were unenthusiastic and non-engaging. They were the prototypical department store worker elves that are counting the minutes until break. Then we were shown a cabin to enter to meet Santa... but wait, mommy- why are there lots of little cabins? My daughter could see that families were being led to different places. Then when we walked in we were greeted by Bad Santa himself. I’ve never seen a Santa so young- visible elastic beard and all. What a JOKE! He asked her what she wanted for Christmas and said a “ho ho ho” and that was it. Absolutely zero interest in being there. When we got to the area to buy pictures my daughter could once again see that everyone had visited different Santas- young, old, African American, etc. because families were all in the same area looking at large computer screens. She cried 25 blocks back to our hotel. What a disappointment.

They will debit your credit card and not ship

By Jeanne B |

Do not place an online order with Macy's! They tell you something is in stock, claim that they have shipped the order so they can charge your credit card but they don't actually ship it. They then sit on your money for an indefinite period before they return it to you.

I am sympathetic to Covid related delays and shortages but why do they debit your credit card before they ship? If they don't have stock just say so and don't tale my money!

Macy’s is the only destination!

By Marie |

Love Macy’s, it is your one stop shop for everything for everyone! I could and have spent days in here.

Elevators can be slow but that’s to be expected in a large department store. Layout is perfect with food and drink kiosks located on nearly every floor.

Always have a sale on, so you will be sure to get a bargain or two!

Brought my granddaughter shopping there for the first time. She is from a small town in the south west. She was overwhelmed. She shopped til she dropped. She basically got a totally new wardrobe. We even rested and got a soda at McDonalds in the children’s department.

Classic

By Pippowow |

Classic American style mall where you can find everything , style and distribution of departments very confusing ... you can not understand the subdivisions zone x zone ... few indications

Large (old) department store

By Johnny B |

Big, but like an old aesthetic department store. We mainly visited the children's floor. There are all the famous brands, the prices were not as high as I thought

Fantastic shopping place

By Ivka70 |

Really nice building interior. Very well trained staff. Great place to shop. Only few options for eating and drinking.

Christmas visit

By Robert W |

Having visited Macy's a number of times over the years we were a little disappointed in our visit this year. The toy department is much smaller than it used to be and the decorations are not as elaborate as we remembered from previous years. The windows were nice but once again not as good as in previous years. Still worth a visit

A fun place to shop when in NYC

By Ethan |

An organized 9-floor department store that has anything you could ever want for yourself. Each floor was clearly labeled in the elevator with the kinds of products sold on that floor and the selection of brands was wide. I bought an outfit on floor 3 for $55 off and found the signage in the store to be helpful for finding changing rooms. The only disappointing part of the store was the men's fragrance department. While the selection was good, it felt crammed into its spot and wasn't as impressive as the one at my local mall, though that might just be because of the lack of space in the city. Overall, a fun and classy place to shop.

Disappointing all around!

By Pamela H |

Window highlighted Polo Ralph Lauren Pink Pony hoodies. Apparently this item was in the store that day. Asked Ralph Lauren personnel on 4th floor, but they had no idea what I was referring to, the associate went to find out and never returned. Concierge at front door directed us to Polo Ralph Lauren area on 3rd floor. No Pink Pony hoodies. I finally gave up. Disappointed that staff in the store had very little idea of the product in multiple windows celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness. However, concierge did mention that the product was NOT available online. Very disappointing and annoying. I left without making a purchase. Too much time wasted.

Massive and interesting store layout

By Peter S |

Went there to check out Santa’s Workshop specifically. Very disappointed that it was enclosed and not visible from outside. Could not see Santa and did not have any children with us to take inside. Have to take several escalators to get to the 8th?floor. Kind of lost track on the way up...
Store itself is extremely impressive. Block long and multiple stories. Massive sections devoted to various consumers. Would have loved to spend more time but schedule did not permit.
Highly recommend a visit when you are in NYC but Santa’s Workshop is not visible to the general public.

The best....

I love this place! came to New York for a week at Christmas time and I must have visited Macy’s 6 times. I came in the summer to and its absolutely huge and we got so many items.

The girlfriends idea

By The travel guy 1990 |

amazing building with architecture to match inside, this place is huge and the floors just keep going. Great place to go to get out the cold!

The wooden escalators was the best part of the visit. All holiday decorations was only on the 1st floor.

By NikaNumber1 |

Never been to the Macy's during the holiday season now that I think about it.

It's nicely decorated on the outside for the holidays.

Found a warm and big gray and sequined scarf for other cold days while here in NYC.

Some really vintage wood and narrow escalators on the 4th floor to the 9th floor.

The scarves are on the lower level with the accessories.

Sales Scams, but only AFTER YOU FIND SOMEONE TO HELP YOP

By Neil F |

There is a reason why companies like Amazon are putting Macy's out of business - MACY'S MAKES IT IMPOSSBIEL TO DO BUSINESS WITH

When you walk in, the only people you cn find to help you are other brands within the store that are sub-leasing space. The people who work for Macy's have no clue what is going on, and that is only IF you can find someone to actually help you

I went recently to buy fine jewelery - Iwas specifically told that if the size didnt fit, I could seamlessly bring it back and get it re-sized. Nothing about $50 to get it re-sized, when a typical store might charge $20, or do it for free if your purchase is over a certain amount but not Macy's.

They spend more time trying to get you to buy a Macy's credit card, amd then do a non -stop sales job on why you need to buy their insurance plan. Of course none of this is done before you buy the product

Finally, take the Macy's challenge - try and call any department and get an actual human being - if you can do it in UNDER AN HOUR - you win. I have spent over 2 1/2 hours trying to reach a single department, got passed around, disconnected, and placed on hold - after 2 1/2 hours , NOTHING - it will actually be more efficient to spend an hour going back and forth to the store and trying to Hunt Down, someone who can actually help me, and not try and sell me additional products to fix my purchase

Must do when in NYc

By Martin P |

Of course Macy’s is one the most do list when you are in NYC. If you have luck and there is a sale going one you might find some bargain

Would definitely say it’s a must do when in nyc

This Store is a Vibe!

By Adventuresofsonyat |

Best shopping and shopping deals on Black Friday. You’ll need a day or two to get through the stores. The Christmas windows are a bit hard to find. You have to know which side the decorated windows are on. Parade souvenirs are in the basement, if you’re interested in purchasing items.

Macys Herald Square is Sublime: start with Shoes!

By Ava C |

Fabulous Store and Selections of Designer Brands. I went for shoes, as I have for decades. I received excellent service from , Ben, Sharee, Marie, Nurlys , bought 3 great pairs of shoes: Cole Hahn, Alfani, Tom’s. I met many women having a great shopping experience there. Best store in the world, it’s a must when you are in midtown. Find the clearance racks first!

Huge is an Understatement

By NoinahJaeb |

This place was massive! I kept walking round and round and up and down and it never seem to end.

It is a iconic flagship store right smack at Herald Square. It's a landmark beauty from the exterior and shopping madness once you enter.

My 8 yr old son was shocked to see the wooden escalators at this place. Hope to visit this shop again when it's not too crowded.

Flagship Location

By The Five Road Trippers 🚙🎡🎢🧳 |

This is exactly what a department store is in Manhattan. A large multi story retail store with everything you can ever expect. It's a grand store with plenty of old fashioned detail.

I came in for a pair of slacks, similar to the pair I was wearing. The gentleman at the counter showed me various pairs. He showed me a better pair than I had on for an amazing price. Excellent service! A trip to NYC requires a visit to the original location.

Worlds greatest store

By Birgitta-Kenneth |

Well, I could not help visiting Macys again due to the fact that it is a very great department store. This time they had their annual flower show as well which did light up the block as well.

bad

By dana t |

Recently, I ordered a pair of sneakers online from Macy's, but unfortunately, only received one pair. When I reached out to their customer service team, they responded with a cold and unsympathetic email stating that they were unable to reship the missing item. Instead, they issued a refund for only one pair, leaving me feeling frustrated and cheated.

It's truly outrageous that after spending over $300 on my purchase, Macy's was unwilling to take responsibility for their mistake and make things right by sending me the missing pair. The fact that they only offered a refund for one pair is unacceptable and demonstrates a complete lack of care for their customers.

Overall, I would caution anyone considering shopping at Macy's to think twice, as their customer service is clearly lacking and they don't seem to value their customers' satisfaction. Save yourself the hassle and take your business elsewhere.

Furniture never delivered.

By Elaina C |

Do NOT order online from Macy’s. We ordered ottoman a month and a half ago. It still has not been shipped out of original warehouse. I have called every week. They give a new shipping date each time. There’s no tracking info due to the fact it hasn’t left the original warehouse. We paid almost $600 after taxes, fees & shipping. Absolutely infuriating. Currently trying to get a refund which also seems to be like pulling teeth. Do not order furniture online through Macy’s.

Awesome Selection of Merchandise

By romadaro |

If you can’t find it here, you don’t need it. It’s that simple. This Macys probably has the best selection of merchandise from some of the best brands and designers under the sun. But pack your patience because the place is massive and definitely deserves the moniker as the World’s Largest Store. You simply can’t go to New York without spending at least a few hours at Macys.

Got to go to Macy’s

By jane a |

Always great. Even better if you get a sale day. Nevertheless it’s so big, not for browsing, go knowing what you want.
Exemplary service in the Skechers department at any rate

Historic Macy's

By kah50442 |

Macy's is as American as it gets. Holiday Parades and Yearly Fireworks have entertained all of us. The historic building still has some old wooden escalators. The first escalators in the USA. It's great to visit. Lots to see.

Bad Service by Petula Thompson

By Dee P |

Unfortunately I had a bad shopping experience at this store due to the unprofessional behavior of Ms. Petula Thompson. Her behavior towards other employees in front of customers is reprehensible. She commanded her employee to take care of an administrative issue while the employee was helping me. You go to a brick and mortar to get help if needed. Ms Thompson must not think that customer service is important because her attitude towards me was dismissive and condescending. I shop at Herald Square often. This was my first bad experience.

Fabulous store in NYC

By SPN21 |

Visitors must visit this iconic retail brand. The store is a classic with several floors of retail and a long history that has to be experienced. Even the escalators have a rich history with wooden hand rails and foot falls. We loved visiting this location and will go back again.

Not what we were expecting

By kunduku |

I think we must have missed something but we found the store really, really disappointing. It just seemed to be ladies fashion and very little else. We were so bored and the only thing we really liked were the wonderful old wooden escalators in the upper levels. We weren't even enthralled with the displays - endless racks of clothing. It was not the experience we had hoped for.
If we ever go back to NYC, we feel we should return and try again.

Overhyped and in need of a good clean

By Ray W |

Billboard outside says LARGEST STORE IN THE WORLD...welll that's a lie as it hasn't been since 2009 when Shinsegae in Korea surpassed it as No1...Now that doesn't make it a bad store in fact it's pretty good but in my opinion it's living off it's name and it's past!!!
They say the New York store is the Flagship store having visited both New York and Philadelphia this trip i can only say that the New York store is the better of the 2

The New York store has everything you need and goods are reasonably priced but come on!! IT'S MACYS! A name famous across the globe yet the store is and has been for a number of your in need of a good clean and a touch up with paint.

Customers SHOULDN'T be entering the famale tommy department and finding clumps of dust on the skirtings, chipped paint everywhere and mirrors that need a good clean! Its not just Tommy its every area that has issues!
I'm sure a company as big as Macys has a maintenance dept or even just an odd job man who could go round with a paint brush and duster on a daily basis touching up the scrapes etc

Shopping Mecca for the global shoppers

By rehne_do |

This place has got a vibe. It has
- variety
- comfort
- luxury
- food
- wooden elevators (not to miss these historic elevators)
- good deals

With a few blocks away from the Times Square, this place is a to-go site.
I went there to shop some stuff for family. Being a non-american, I was offered an additional discount of 10% on top of the ongoing deals.

Note : The staff is usually courteous except the staff at Lauren Ralph Lauren (Ladies' handbags). This specific counter always has very thankless and rude staff. I don't know the reason but I met different people at this counter on all 3 days and all of them were rude.

All in all, even if you don't want to shop, visit this place to witness the historic wooden elevators and get a vibe of the world's biggest store.

Worth a visit

By hannnahloulou1985 |

It’s busy
Super busy
If you are from England and like Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilliger or Levi it is cheap.
It was very big and confusing to work around. We asked staff and they sent us in the wrong direction. We got easily lost.
We did the meet Father Christmas. Bloody amazing but so busy. You book on a QR code and that is the time you join the queue not when you will be seen. We did the first slot and still queued 45 mins. The Father Christmas is amazing and “real” it’s all free but the pictures cost mega money.

Rude!

By Mrs and Mr S |

We found the pizza place NYC pizza brilliant and the staff were friendly and helpful. We made a purchase in the clothing section and spent quite a lot of money and the assistant was very rude! No hello, no thank you! Just rude! Such a shame. Hopefully they were just having a bad day and that’s not their usual level of customer service!

Shoppers Paradise

By MrsWYN-R |

A fabulous, huge department store full of lots of lovely things to buy. A must for any professional shopper complete with designer labels and reasonable sale prices.

The store displays made with fresh flowers were beautiful, there for Mother's Day in May.

Worth a visit if travelling from outside USA. You will definitely buy something that is a MUST.

Little underwhelmed

By ela03 |

We went mid morning and shop was not too busy. We were a little underwhelmed by the shop, some parts seemed really well organised and other sections were like a jumble sale. There was also a bad smell of damp throughout the store, it almost felt in some areas the store was getting ready to close down.

On our visit a number of the restrooms on the floors were out of use and we noticed a lot of customers asking for advice and staff seemed unsure of which floors had open restrooms.

We were impressed by the wooden escalators. Shop front was impressive from outside too.

Some things to do

By Coco Na |

Not tempting prices but there are some nuggets. The store is very large (6 floors). Not much for children in terms of clothing.
The staff is very welcoming.

Wooden operational escalators

By Bea |

Macy's offers 12 floors with shopping opportunities for women, men and children.
What I loved most were the original wooden escalators. The escalators were built between 1920 and 1930 by the Otis Elevator Company, and they are still operational.

Average

By thegoodolddays09 |

It’s really just a mall.. lots of different shops under one roof. If you live
In the Uk it would be like going to cribs causeway etc. If your passing pop in but if it’s well out of your way im not sure I would bother.

Always one to spoil things

By maria23192 |

I love Macy’s as a store and generally staff are pleasant and polite. But today I was rudely spoken to by an assistant when I attempted to check out a rail nearby her. She didn’t even bother to look up from her phone either! Maybe a customer service course is called for🤷🏻‍♀️

Saddest, longest queue for Santa ever.

By Lynne M |

Booked a visit to Santaland for my nieces who had traveled to NYC from Montana for the Christmas Holiday. What a disappointment. We arrived right on time for our 2:00/2:30 check in time. Directed to a line by a very bad tempered rude elf (way to go with the Christmas Spirit!). Waited for about 20 minutes without moving at all. Began to be concerned about how long the line might actually be. Asked a couple of other people waiting in the line ahead of us (it snakes back and forth) and were told they had a 12:30 time slot and were still waiting 2 hours later! After waiting another 20 minutes and still barely moving forward we decided to abandon the line. Every employee we spoke to were rude and grumpy. The whole thing from start to finish was so sad and disappointing. Really think that Macy’s should rethink how many people they pre book for this event and rethink there queuing policy. Insane to expect young children to stand in line for hours. Macy’s as a company had lost a customer in me.

Macys south coast plaza CA

By Timothy B |

Went to buy swimwear. Saw two racks that's stated 30% off or greater. Found unreal deals on shorts. When went to cashier she rang up and noticed the pricing did not match the ticket. Cashier said I need to call Manager when I asked about the ticket pricing . John Dept manager came over I explained to him about the pricing difference he said it was a mistake. I explained to John not my issue if staff either put wrong price or not. He said well I can't do anything. I asked for his boss which Allie store director came to see and I explained to her again the same she said well it ran out of ink. I asked so all 150 items marked this way staff would not see ink problem? She said can't be right pricing which I again showed her signage stating 30% or greater. I think these Managers could have made the situation better but instead they said no. Customers don't know what deals are when or pricing. If you advertise 30% or greater than honor it. Will reach out to corp office which hopefully will find a resolution.

An absolute must!

By jadewarren91 |

Macy’s is essential to a NY trip, it is absolutely huge, with everything you can imagine inside and some great deals making it totally worth while! & great for a shopping trip

NOTHING SPECIAL

By karenCFC |

Came in to have a look around with the intention of hopefully buying something. A bit of a shambles but I suppose as just after Christmas. More like a jumble sale now. Shop is way too hot and made me want to just get out asap.

The Decline of Macy's

By Arlene K |

Macy's has put the last nail in its coffin. I've been a Macy's customer since 1965.
I've ordered Lancome makeup for many years. Almost daily I receive a text on my cell with offers for Lancome from Macy's. I tried to put through an order ($114) but it won't let me use my Macy's credit card. I've worked in tech for many years. The program they have set up for orders from their texts is not set up properly! I tried their customer service line twice. Both times I got morons who don't understand English. I asked for an American representative and they said there were none. BIG MISTAKE! There was supposed to be a chance to leave a review but the foreign representatives just put me on hold so I would have to hang up and could not get to the review. Honestly, I'm shopping elsewhere from now on. Lancome is not difficult to purchase in other stores. I will look for one not related to Federated as Macy's and many others belong to Federated. What a mess! Do you guys really think this is all going to work out for you? Or maybe it will while you are there and collecting a paycheck but it is definitely toppling the building blocks that Macy's built up over all these years.

Iconic store

By Sarny |

As expected, Macy's was a lovely store to wander about - costly but to be expected. Store directory near escaltor handy.

How to lose a client this is my titles for macy's

By sofia g |

Those people are experts in losing clients. They literally blocked my credit card and deduct my money that will take up to 10 days to get returned. Not only that when I contacted them, they emailed me back saying that you will never buy from us again online but you are welcome to do that in the physical store!!!!!! ironic. Who said that we will buy from you again? I will never. I will also share that review with everyone I know. let's see how other stores can thrive over yours dumass

Excellent!

By aliner725 |

Wonderful store, easy to spend 1 whole day exploring everything it has to offer!
There are 8 floors of shopping for the whole family and with various promotions! I thought it was better than the Outlet Woodbury! And to complete there is a restaurant inside the store, as if it was a real shopping!
Super recommend!

Fantastic shopping experience

By Anne P |

The whole store was amazing and full of bargains. The Christmas department was wonderful and all the staff were very helpful.

Huge store!

By Maltipoo16 |

I enjoyed my shopping trip here, but was disappointed with the item after I gave it as a Christmas gift and it was broken. I got gold earrings for my mom, and the clasp doesn’t close on one of the earrings. I honestly never would have expected that from Macys. I did enjoy my time inside of the store though. The store is huge and has the most beautiful Christmas displays in the windows and inside of the store’s entrances. There were also surprisingly a lot of sales going on in the store. The store was very well stocked with merchandise and was well organized/layed out. The staff that I cashed out with were extremely friendly and helpful as well. I was just very disappointed that the earrings are broken, and my nearest Macy’s for a return is over an hour away. Super frustrating for sure!

Outdated temple.

By NAJNEJ |

Always equal to himself, except from another era. Nothing has changed since my last visit several years ago. This temple of luxury would benefit, in my humble opinion, from being reconsidered.

Macy's at Christmas!

By Butch E |

There's nothing like going to NYC during the Christmas season and no trip is complete without a stop at Macy's It's hectic and crazy but also fun. Great window displays as well.

It is big!

By BeachStone2C |

The sign outside indicates this is the largest store in the world. It is certainly the largest I have visited. It takes an effort to find the right floor and then the area for an item you are looking for.

Huge!

By NHNikki |

I never realized how big Macy’s is. The old elevators were so cool. We spent quite a bit of time going through several floors (not 100% of each though). I was blown away at the size. I wouldn’t have gone in but my husband really wanted to. I’m glad that we did.

Great shop

By sassylady2016 |

What s amazing store I love love love Macy’s it has virtually everything under the same roof layer out great all the staff are helpful friendly informative . I went to 9th Christmas department the decorations are amazing soo pretty , you feel like s kid in a sweet shop so many decorations to choose from . I’ve been in Macy’s many times all overAmerica but New York is buzzing great vibes .

Shopping Experience 5 ⭐️

By Elodie C |

You will find everything, and all brands, there are incredible discounts compared to the shops in NY. Clean and bright.

Very less variety of brands in plus sizes

By Dream09709420322 |

I was very disappointed with the selection in plus sizes
The brands were very less. They had very few selection of brands compared to two years ago.
Please add more variety and brands such as alfani, charters club etc
The sports active wear collection in plus sizes were also very limited
My overall experience was very dissactifactory

always good for good shopping!

By Torben V |

Would never leave New York without a visit at Macy`s. Take your time, walk till the end of the floors and have fun by up to 90% off!! Enjoy.. ;)

At Christmas it was great

By Jkalss |

We visited this store on the 21st Dec, the window and building decorations were fantastic, the after Christmas sales were well worth it, they have modern and old fixtures mixed together and it works, visit this store and allow a few hours of doing so as it is huge.

What a welcome.

By Peter Mc 67 |

Got here early in the morning in the run up to Thanksgiving.
When the doors opened at 10am the staff had lined up & were applauding & dancing to Christmas music, I've never seen anything like it in my life.
Well done to the staff & management it was magical, like a Christmas movie.
Made us come back three time during our visit.
Spectacular

Shopping galore!

7 floors of great deals and bargain hunting. I could have literally spent all day in this store. So much to offer and great clearance prices. Will definitely be back next time I am in town.

Amazing Shopping

The place is huge and the same time beautiful. The heart of shopping ...
The Christmas decoration was awesome.

10 Stars at Christmas

By ILoveTexas |

Of all the stores we visited in NYC, this one was our favorite. Gorgeous decorations and beautiful window displays. Dazzling merchandise. Friendly employees, especially considering the number of people visiting. This is what I want a store to be at Christmastime in New York.

Rude

By bingkikline |

Rude staff, service worse than at Walmart, while charging ten times as much: when an brand (CK) is on display in the windows, customer searches for it and the items are not in stock, bad enough, but even worse: staff don’t even know what is on display and answer with like „whatever“ and doesn’t care at all. says a lot doesn’t it?

Here you can find everything and not just upscale

By Marcus |

A department store that leaves nothing to be desired

There are designer goods at high prices as well as at affordable prices. Although it is famous, everyone can still go in and find something to suit their wallet.

Everyone can find something on 9 floors.
From clothing to furniture or bathroom equipment.

In between you can fortify yourself at McDonald’s and Co., even in the department store.

Unfortunately there are few toilets but at least they are available.

You can still experience the famous wooden escalators.

Summer Vacation

By Melissa S |

I really enjoy Macy’s, especially their INC. line, and visiting the Macy’s flagship store in New York City is an absolute must. It’s such a unique experience because of its history as one of the classic old department stores. They still have some of the original wooden escalators, which adds to the charm.

The store features amazing interactive displays and plenty of unique things to see. I’ve been there both in the summer and at Christmas, and it never disappoints. Christmas at Macy’s is an absolute must-see—the decorations and holiday atmosphere make it truly magical. If you love to shop or just appreciate historic spaces, Macy’s in NYC is definitely worth a visit.

Must do Christmas Visit

By Robert G |

We were staying in a hotel on 42nd and Time Square so this was a short walk to visit the action of Macy’s at Christmas. The store is huge and they still have an original wooden escalator for those of us that like original. Even if you don’t shop you need to go here for the sights.
