We remark again and again at the high quality of the Phoenix area Parks. The McCormick-Silllman Railroad Park is probably the best example.
The Park has a railroad theme. There's a small train that kids (and their attending adults) can ride, a small museum (haven't been in it, but some day), a model train exhibit (the best and most extensive I've experienced) and a carousel. I'm sure I'm leaving something out since there's so much.
The Park itself is free. The rides are about $3/person. Young kids free.
We've been there several times and rode the train. Today, we went on the Carousel. For a two year old, it was exciting and thrilling. Our grandson could come here day after day and not get tired of it.
Will we be back? You can bet on it!

Great train ride and other stuff for the kids, but the museum, the historical Pullman railroad cars (with knowledgeable docents), and the hugh model train layouts in different guages will appeal to the adults of all ages if you like trains. We went on a weekday afternoon and was pretty quiet. Imagine it could get pretty crowded on week ends.

Free entry to the park! Train and Carousel ride only cost $2 a ticket or $10 for 6 tickets. Nice playground, and well kept grounds. A nice place to stop for young kids or anyone who enjoys trains.

This was so much fun! The train ride, carousel, picnic areas, and park were a hit with my young family. The worker at the front desk was very friendly too!

It is always so much fun to come here to ride the train and carousel, then play at the playground. Plenty of tables in the shade for a picnic, too.

One of the lady park rangers called my son “Jew boy”. She made me cry. I did not feel this was an inclusive environment to all people! I was utterly shocked.

We visited with our 8, 3 and six months old baby. The kids had a blast! The rides are a bit pricey for the value but not too bad. Only downside - shade (not enough at all).

This park is a fun place to take your younger kids to. Lots of open space and a couple of miniature trains that the kids can ride on. Christmas time here is always fun as they set of displays and then you ride the train to view them.

Lots of families and kids here on a sunny Sunday but lots of area for kid free walking and huge model exhibit building. It has HO, O and N scale set ups and so much to see kids big and small could spend quite a bit of time wandering.

If you are into trains this is the place to be. From outstanding model train layouts to full size locomotives they got it. Don't miss the model miniature house displays. Wonderful well maintained park setting with picnic tables, shade and even a carousel.

Brought my grandson here for an outing. Lots to explore and plenty of cool stuff for us big kids. Nice large running model train set.

My husband and I went to McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park to see the Christmas Lights. It was fabulouse! We recorded the ride with our iPhones and used the beautiful lights for our Christmas Video. It was a huge hit. Our son saw the video and took his litte girl to see the Christmas LIghts and they also loved it. The park is a really fun place to have a family picnick. The kids love the train. I highly reccommend the McCor,ick-Stilman Railroad Park.

We brought 2 young children here one evening to ride the train and see the holiday lights. Luckily I bought fast-passes because they would never have endured the wait in the long line. Definitely worth the extra money in this case! Everyone enjoyed the ride. We will return again to check out the rest of the park.

I went with a small group and our first stop was at the Model Railroad Building. They have 4 layouts with "O", "HO", "N" and "Z" gauges. The 4 different Model Railroad clubs have built their own layouts and enjoy showing and running them for the public. There is no charge to visit the Model Railroad Building, but they are happy to receive donations and there are donation boxes around, On several layouts there are buttons to push to see action at different points. Great for young and old kids! The McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park is free to visit. There is a $2.00 charge for the museum which has a specialy made Pullman car that was used by 4 Presidents. There is also a Baggage car to see. For the kids there is a train ride ($3.00) and a Merry-go-round. It is a large park with plenty of parking. I was only here for a short time, but you could spend all day. It is a great and inexpensive place to visit.

No kidding. If you want total satisfaction, visit this place.. A train ride on kid sized choo choo takes you back. All the way back. You’ll think you’re a kid again. Ride the merry go round and have a picnic. Play in the park. Let sand run through your toes. Relax. Listen to the birds. Smell the grass. Ride s slide. See a train. Go home and unwind. You’re a kid again . . .

This park has a couple of old trains you can walk through. Also a nice park for picnics. Nothing exciting so don't expect a lot of action like Old Town.

We had wanted to see this place for a long time, as we have several railroading relatives. Finally made it on this trip. The smaller train around the desert garden area was not running, but we did get on the loop around the entire park. It might be a little hokey for older kids but it was a fair deal for the $2 fare. There is also a carousel (we all passed) and a snack bar. The railroad museum (also a $2 fee) includes a presidential railroad car. The most unique feature of the railroad park, though, and what is truly interesting to all ages, is the large model railroad shed with multiple layouts ranging from a teeny tiny Thomas to larger ones with details of the local area (watch a spring training game for be pelted by a thunderstorm). The shed is free, as is the park itself. Tickets for the train and carousel rides are purchased in the gift shop and there are multiple restroom facilities. Parking and the grounds are free as well and the facilities except fro the train rides are accessible.

Great, smallish park for ~10 year and younger kids. Small diesel train ride and playgrounds are fun for smaller kids, while older ones appreciate the model trains and the pullman cart more. Staff in the park was great!

We went to see the holiday lights a few days after New Years so the crowds had thinned considerably. It was FREEZING though and we were not dressed accordingly. The model railroad building was the perfect respite from the cold. We road both rails to take in all of the pretty lights. Adults need good yoga moves and flexibility for the smaller one. My tip is to bring cash in small bills for the different donation spots.

Took out the grand daughters last weekend for a holiday train ride. This little rail road park is just simply amazing. There is a small train that adults and children can take about a 10 minute ride on for $2 per person (under age 3 free) and during the holidays the train ones thru a winter wonderland every night for $5 per person and again the wee ones are free. We arrived around 5:30 for evening ride and stood in line with about 75 riders in front of us and a 500 plus behind us. Nice surprise, they added a second train so we didn’t wait long. I won’t spoil the surprises, it is definitely with going to. The next day we went back got more tickets rode the train and the carousel. Wee ones having time of their lives. I highly recommend taking another 45 minutes to check out the miniature train museum (free of charge). It has so much to offer. Interactive for small kids too. Oh and did I mention the Pullman train you can tour and the mini train for kids. Has a nice snack shack with hot dogs, chili, ice cream cones, etc.
Room for picnicing too. On a nice Arizona day it is a great outing for young and old.

Such an enjoyable Park with lots of railway museum. I went there by myself. I feel lots of people would flock here when cooler weather.

Brought my daughters and niece when they were young and now bringing my grandchildren. They always enjoy the train ride as well as the carousel. They have a playground, too. Great park for a picnic and to let the kids play!

This place has many nice things to do. First, you can ride a small train, which takes a big circle around the properly (I would say at least 1K easy), a large room size of a ballroom with many train models running, play area, shops and restaurants. Price was very reasonable and loved to see my daughter (at the time 9) enjoying many things.

It seems we always love to do things with trains so we went to the park.
Entrance was free and then you pay to do each activity which is approximately 2 dollars each time.
They had a really nice carrousel and a train that everyone could ride on. These were a lot of fun.
We packed a linch and there are plenty of places to spread out and have a lunch. They also have 2-3 different play areas that were a lot of fun for our grandkids.
They also had a building with model trains set up where you can activate the motion sensors and see more than just trains move.
We ended up spending about 4 hours there and even the adults enjoyed it.

This is a beautiful park with lots of activities especially for children. They were decorating for the Halloween Spook-Trackular that was starting that evening - lots of fun decorations. We aren't big museum goers but we enjoyed touring the Pullman car used by four past presidents and hearing about it from one of their young tour guides.

Railroad park is a perfect place for anyone, but you won’t find many , or any people there during the hot summer days. There is a lot to do there, and restaurants are nearby. This park has a lil store that is famous for good affordable ice-cream , they also offer light snacks and beverages, and some toy purchases (train stuff) also there is an awesome miniature train ride for the whole family & friends to enjoy . On grounds, they also have a museum, on trains, indoors. Outside, there is two play areas , plenty of walking paths , grills , shelters, green grass. This park, is a fun place, that we look forward to returning too , real soon.

Do you love trains? And a beautiful park to take the family? This place is a must. I love going here with my grandson and taking a train ride.

This Christmas Holiday Season we visited the light spectacular in the park. Even riding the little train was fun. Beautifully, renovated rail cars. Wonderful for 5 to 10 and adults , of course.

So we visited while they had their holiday train light display. It was really cute. My kids ages 8,5 and 3 enjoyed the ride. I wish we had bought the tickets beforehand because it was an hour long wait to buy the tickets and then 2.5 hours to get on the train.
They have a train display room that was really cute. #chaudhry50 are on a quest to explore all 50 states before the oldest turns 18. This made our list and we’re glad we visited.

You can't beat this park for kids of all ages. The museum is first rate, the rides are great fun and the snacks and ice cream houses complete the picture. Plenty of room for kids to roam with a playground as well. Bring a picnic

Something for everyone....our littles enjoyed the train ride and playground park, our elementary kids enjoyed the train display building, carousel, and the adults enjoyed the history of the train used by the Presidents. Prices are reasonable-great family place to go.

We were staying in Arizona while on vacation and decided to take our 7 year old to this train park. So glad we did! It is so nice and so affordable. He loves trains so he was in heaven. The train rides, carousel, and playground were all awesome but the train museum was the real hit for him! Amazing! If we are back in this area we will visit again.

My toddler had a great time on the play ground. There are various structures for various age groups. We all enjoyed playing in the Wild West town (complete with mock jail and stagecoach). The train is simple but decorated for holidays. The Merry-Go-Round was okay. All ages enjoyed the train museum in the back of the park. Several clubs run their various trains and answer questions. Worth the visit. Great parking. Lots of lawn space to host events.

Nice option when the weather is cool enough to be outside and in the sun.
Fun park and train ride.
Places to picnic and relax

Fun little train for kids of all ages. During the cooler months, catch free music concerts. It can get very crowded during the concert, so arrive early to find a good parking spot. Pack a picnic and enjoy the area. Bring your own chairs, food, and blankets. Staff are very helpful. Ample bathrooms and they will have portable potties with large crowds.
Very enjoyable, clean and safe.

If your kid is into trains, this is the best place to go! Plan on being there for at least an hour. Depending on how many rides you want, it might make sense to buy a yearly membership - even if you’re only there for one day. There are interesting things for adults but the place is really geared to kids ages about 3-8ish.

Great for the day you fly out! Let the kids run out their energy. I would say about an hour is good here. Yummy ice cream too.

A very clean, wide open park attached to a railroad experience. Ride the train, investigate and learn history of other full size models, visit the miniature train displays and watch kids eyes widen at the intricate design and complicated railways. There is a shop for souvenirs and such. Never shopped for food as always have brought our own picnic, blankets and outdoor sports equipment, kites if in March, and always umbrellas. Spring, Winter and Fall (October through May) are best times unless planning early morning stop. The park has seasonal schedules so best to check web site for times, special displays, tours and talks. It is a soft rolling landscape, with clean restrooms and a playground for kids of all ages, Take plenty of water and apply sunscreen regularly, regardless of the the season as with plenty of room to run, it doesn't take long for it to wear off. I have never taken our own dogs, but have seen people there with dogs on leash. Noticed if their dogs weren't on leash there were people who didn't hesitate to voice their disapproval. Wasn't looking for signs regulating dogs so don't think I saw any other than those referring to lease law. Every time we have been there we have seen park personal supervising the activities, but with the cutbacks and government stoppages, I wouldn't know if it is still true. There was a water portion to the park, but they were talking about some changes there, because of flooding, so again, I would check the web site for further information, We have a;ways found parking plentiful, but we tend to head that way right after breakfast. Kids usually fall asleep for well deserved nap-time on way home.

We visited on a Saturday morning, first thing. It was very busy and got busier as time went on. We bought tickets for 3 of us to ride the railway and the merry-go-round. Our 2 year old was free. The railway does a 5-10 min trip around the park and the wait was not long though the line seemed very long. The merry-go-round was also fun, with no line. There is a nice play area for small kids and one for older kids in the same area. The ground is a sandy product which is fun for my boy.

If you have kids and are a railfan or railnut, then Stillman RR Park is for you! From the ride on the minature train to the exhibits, the park is full of fun!

Great train ride for very young kids and toddlers. Beautiful park. We ate lunch there as well and price was good.

Very unique park and a lovely setting for a concert. Greatly enjoyed the Mowtown event in February. Upon arrival easily located parking. Left shortly before the concert ended and exited parking lot without getting jammed up in traffic. Looking forward to attending more concerts here. Bring a folding chair, snacks and relax to the music. There was a small dance floor near the stage for those wanting to kick up their heels.
Would definitely recommend.

The kids loved this train experience! Open land let's you walk around and picnic. Model trains to view. Step on to a Pullman presidential train to view history. Fun kid's train ride around the park. Carousel plays great kid's music. Great snacks and treats. Playground is nice to burn off some energy!

Fantastic playground area for younger kids. Sand and a soft material around all the playground equipment. The train ride is perfect for kids and it's really nice for the Christmas Lights coming soon. Feels perfect for a train park and attractions!

Okay, yes, you’re going to end up buying tickets for the train ride and the carousel, but they’re only $2 a pop, and they’re cheaper in a book. Plus there’s a good park whose sets are themed around trains and the Wild West. The little ones will gladly spend a long time there for little money. (If you feel like splurging, there’s a gift shop and several concession stands too, plus a museum we didn’t get to see.) It’s impressive that this is a public space.
We didn’t go to the actual Christmas light show, but some of the decorations were up in the daytime too. It seems like it would be a fun way to see some good lights if you went in the evening. I think evening train tickets are $5, and you have to buy them during the day.

We had a great time at this park and museum. My kids love the train. Please note they run diesel trains on the weekday and steam engines on weekend's if the fumes brother you.

This place was very nice. Clean, interesting. The little children were very happy and busy. We rode the little train around. I enjoyed that very much. The museum has some much to see. The miniature railroads - hundreds of them - awesome.

We went to hike at McDowell Sonoran preserve and stopped by the M-S Railroad Park afterwards right when it opened in the morning. The park has a great park under the shade (and another one that was not in the shade) which the kids (10 and 6 year olds) enjoyed. For $2 each, we went on the train ride which was longer than I was expecting. When we visited, the museum was not open but we stopped by the model railroad exhibit which was indoors and surprisingly good, especially since it was free. The kids enjoyed pushing all the buttons to make the trains move and we spent quite a bit of time there. I would recommend visiting the park if you have young kids!

if you visit Scottsdale with your family, this is one place you have got to go to. I have visted this park many times with my family and it never ceases to amaze me. Let me tell you about the attractions,
Among the historic attractions in the park is the Roald Amundsen Pullman Private Railroad Car which was built in 1928. On different occasions the Roald Amundsen Pullman Private Railroad Car reportedly carried Presidents Hoover, Roosevelt (FDR), Truman and Eisenhower. The Roald Amundsen Pullman Private Railroad Car was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on August 6, 2009, reference: #09000582. You are allowed to go inside the car. The Historic Magma Arizona Railroad Engine No. 6, built in 1906 and The Boxcar of a "Merci Train" a.k.a. the "French Gratitude Train" (one of 49), built in 1949 are also exhibited.
Peoria Railroad Depot - built in 1895, the Aguila Depot, built in 1907 and the The Maricopa Depot, built in the 1930s were dismantled and rebuilt at the park.
Your children will definately enjoy riding the train around the park, They will also enjoy riding on the Charro Carousal, which was built in 1950.
Both adults and children alike will marvel at the Scottsdale Model Railroad Club HO scale model train layout in the park.

Great park for all ages! Train ride, playgrounds, train museum, free spring concerts, carousel and more is great for all ages!!!

I love walking distance from here and it is a great family friendly spot and on select Sundays they put on concerts in the park!

Might have left a nice review on this spot but they apparently close on a whim when the staff is tired of working. We tried to bring our grandson here on 2/21 as the website looks like it’s a fun place. We arrived during posted operating hours and were told they just closed at 2 in the afternoon. There were visitors in the miniature train section but we were told they were just waiting for them to leave. When we asked about the definite hours for 2/22 the employee said rudely, I don’t know with a shrug. It’s a bit of a jaunt from where we were staying and quite a disappointment when they closed early just because. Management needs to do some staff training on customer service!!!

This was more fun than expected. Started off in the large indoor model train display. This had 3 huge tracks run by local train enthusiasts. So many details to inspect. A few sections of the model were also interactive. Outside were some authentic train cars, Pullmans if I remember. There is also a museum located in an old train depot, one of many that were saved a brought to the park throughout the years. You can also ride on a small scale train. There is a huge playground for the kids. There is also a large sculpture dedicated Bill Keane the creator of Family Circus who lived in Scottsdale and had quite a connection to the community (Google Sugar Bowl & PF Changs).

My wife and I visited the Phoenix area for the first time on this last trip. We stayed a couple of nights in Tempe but made sure to visit Scottsdale and the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. And we were glad we did.
The park is so meticulously cared for it is gorgeous...The lawns, buildings, RR equipment on display, and model railroad layouts all were amazingly maintained. There is no cutting corners here. The day we visited the RR Park was full of families riding the carousel and mini-train, having picnics on the lawn, and just having fun...
The equipment on display was great to see also. From the Steam locomotive and passenger cars to the European Boxcar everything looked brand new. The depot and railroad related building were also like new. Plus it was free to enter. You only paid if you or your family was going to ride the carousel or train....
This was probably the nicest Railroad Park I have ever been to....A must visit when in the area.

Me and a friend had a good time riding the train anyhow. We especially enjoyed touring the train car that FDR road in and the stories told. I am so looking for my Grandson's visit to go back. (He enjoyed the conductor's hat and scarf with whistle I bought him)

During the last week, we had occasion to visit a few great places in Scottsdale. One site I had wanted to go to for years was the Railway Park in Scottsdale. I am biased as it was my uncle who built the trains and donated the to the city to make the park, but I had not been there in 40 years.
This last week we visited the park for the first time and were treated to the amazing train ride through the lite up world created by the artisans in the park. I can't imagine how it made the kids feel, but as a 62 yr old man, it was awesome. So much in fact that we rode the rails twice to see the things we missed the first time.
This is, or should be a #1 destination stop for you if in the area. The light parade is only at Christmas and starts at 6:30 pm. for 2018 It began on December 3rd. earlier than usual to accommodate the number of people coming to the park. Be there early to inspect the new model railway museum, walk the park and see the history of the trains and Scottsdale area, then get in line as it fills fast. There are 2 trains running for this show and the lines go fast. These are actual scale STEAM powered models pulling custom cars that can carry up to 50 people at one time thru the park.
A must see for all , men, women, kids, young and old alike. We rode the rails twice to see all the displays and not miss anything.

Must see for model train people. Huge layouts of all scales. Good thing to do when killing time before heading to the airport.

Great place to take kids. It's inexpensive ($2/ticket for each attraction like train ride, model train exhibit, and museum). There's a small-scale train ride around the park, an extensive model train exhibit, and an interesting museum with a rail car used by four of our past Presidents. It only takes an hour or two to see everything.

This was a fun little excursion for the kids. The staff were super friendly and the mini train ride was longer than expected.

We stopped because we had some time to kill before meeting friends for dinner. The model railroads were quite impressive. That exhibit was free where everything else cost 1-2 tickets. Each ticket is $1.
The model railroad had set ups for O, HO, and N as well as an itty bitty little Z model as well. Each set up was ran by local model railroad club. They each had many details. There were also some spring training memorabilia inside.
There were also trains around the park to look at.

The RR Park has been open for years and it has had numerous improvements. The park and playground (jail house and stagecoach are free along with use of the picnic area), includes a carousel and RR Museum for a small fee. The viewing area for the trains gets better each time I go. The model train displays, both static and moving, are excellent....I’ve not seen better. Everyone at every age level can appreciate the detail and exactitude that has gone into creating this wonderful museum and the trains, villages and extensive railroad network.

Free admission, but purchase tickets to ride either of the two trains or the carousel. Very large model railroad exhibit fascinates both children and adults. Small folk enjoy the outdoor playground area. Gift shop is small. Snack bar has limited offerings. Picnic tables located all around the grounds. Lots of free parking.

If you have young children this is a beautiful place to visit. Lots of stuff for the little kids to do including a carousel am and a train ride. The grounds are beautiful, lush greenery and shady trees. Bring a blanket, perfect spot to relax for a few minutes between all the activities. Train enthusiast will find the model trains very interesting... And there's a lot of history inside the actual train they have made into a museum. Free to get in cost for train ride and carousel $2 each very reasonable

Have heard about this but never stopped by. Kid friendly, as there are 6 minute train rides and a horse carousel ride. You need to buy a ticket, but one ticket per ride. Kids under two are free. Buy a batch (6) of tickets for $10. Better yet, get a season pass. Plenty of room at the park for picnics, lunches, playgrounds They have a couple of railroad museums, with a lot of history on old trains, the Super Chief's from the 40's and 50's. You can actually tour the original Pullman car used by four presidents from the 40's and 50's. It's about 95% restored to original. For me, the best part is the free model train museum. Very, very big layout of all kinds of trains. Lionel-type. HO, N Z gauges. Lots of non-train working scenes - mines, businesses, fire departments and enough small activity stuff to keep you occupied for a while. The work done on these is some of the best I have seen. I like this even better than the model train exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago! It's that good.
Lots of parking, a concession store for limited lunch items, soft drinks, ice cream. Put this on your list. We took a one year old and he had a blast. Pack a picnic lunch and spend the day. I think there is a limited grill area as well. Thanks to Mr. McCormack! And Mr Stillman!

Wow! What a place and all free. The best for us was the model railroad building. It was phenomenal. There were so many outdoor activities for kids. If we had small grandkids nearby we would be there a lot.

This is a wonderful place to take kids- both you & the young at heart. Interesting for train collectors- great opportunity to chat with others who have the same interest

This is a great way to spend a beautiful day in the Phoenix area if you have kids under the age of 5. There's a large playground and a model railroad for free, and for less than $20 you can buy enough tickets for a family of 4 to ride the carousel and the miniature train and visit the museum, which has real historical train cars to explore. There's tons of space for picnics and just running around, too.

My usband and I were vacationing in Scottsdale and visited the park. You can ride the train or the carousel for $2 each or buy a bracelet for $10 for unlimited rides. We went on a Thursday and it was not busy. There are amazing walking trails, museums, and plenty of places for a picnic! There is a huge display of miniature trains, which is free. We had the all-day bracelet and went into the train museum and toured the rail cars. I would highly recommend! They have a rail car that used to be a presidential train. There is plenty of parking. Admission is free if you want to play at the playground and have a picnic. We had a great time and we are retired!

This railroad park is great for children and adults alike! Lots of model trains housed inside and running. Outside there are train rides for the kiddies (one small and one that adults can ride with the little ones). There's also a carousel which everyone loves. We return here each year for a visit.

Such a nice place for families or adults too! No charge to enjoy the park and its picnic areas. Low cost to ride the miniature train or carousel. There were just starting to set up for their holiday displays. The indoor interactive model train displays was awesome. You could initiate one of the many railroad tracks and watch the trains move along.

Railroad is a place for all train lovers, and kids enjoy it too. Have many things for kids to do. My favorite thing is the train shop. Always find a new item I want for my train setup.

They have rides for the children; open boxcars for private birthday parties, 3 fantastic, interactive, model train setups where the spectators can press some buttons and cause some of the trains and other object to move. The train rides are inexpensive and the model train setups are free.

Yes, This is a affordable fun place to bring your kids, have a picnic, take a train ride and look at train preservation at its best. Thank goodness for the people who had the insight to preserve this track of land, other wise we would have high rise apartments and McMansions of every inch of soil. This is 30 acres of preservation. A nice narrow gage railroad for a ride around the property. A 10,000 sq ft building just opened with many different model rail road trains all moving around at the same time. Acres of green grass. Occasionally live music and special events. Free parking. A small fee for some things. Ice cream, soft drinks and bathrooms are all available. They preserved an old time carousel and little kids can take a ride. This 30 acre park is a real oasis.

Took my two grandchildren, ages 3 and 5, for an afternoon at the park. They loved riding the carousel and train, then enjoyed the model trains. Didn't make it to the museum because we were too enthralled with the model trains, so it closed by the time we went to look. They had a delightful afternoon and enjoyed playing in the playgrounds. Perfect afternoon fun with an educational bent!

We visited s we were staying in the area for our anniversary and wow, such a good time. The park is amazing and an awesome place to just hang out and enjoy an ice cream cone. Did I mention they have ice cream cones? Train ride through the park, minister train museum which words can’t describe. Absolutely amazing. Presidential train car to walk through and experience history and the train museum are worth the $2 ten fold. Do yourself a favor and plan a visit!

Ride a train around the park, visit a huge model train exhibit and see an original Pullman car. The park grounds are lovely and well maintained too; bring a picnic and enjoy the day. There’s a carousel for the kids, too. Concessions available at certain hours.

We have lived in Scottsdale for 10 years now and the Choo Choo park is one of my favorites. They offer FREE Sunday night concerts in May and June and the bands are always fantastic. At least 500 people show up each week. My kids are grown but the families there always seem to be having the best time. You can ride a miniature train around the perimeter of the park for a small fee and the park is always bursting with family picnics and birthday parties. There are real boxcars of big trains you can explore and a carousel for those that would rather ride a "horse!" Make time to plan a visit here. It's free to get in.

Family outing to this park was great as we had both adults and children. Beautifully kept part with a museum, train and playgrounds for the kids. Very reasonable to ride the train or the carousel. Employees are friendly and ready to help! Great outing for the family.

Train ride holiday lights was awesome and was worth $5 ticket price and 2hr wait time. Open 6:30p to 9p.

We heard about this park a few years ago but always thought it was just another playground...until we decided to finally check it out. What a great place to spend a few hours. There is enough free things to do to entertain the little ones but, for not much money at all...you can enjoy some of the extra activities. We did the train ride and museum this trip. We also loved the miniature train displays...it was way larger inside than we thought. We hope to return on our next trip to Scottsdale. Thanks for reading!

Stopped by briefly late in the afternoon to check this place out. Far exceeded expectations! The staff at the little gift shop was most helpful, and we made a quick tour of the facility. We will go back to tour more in-depth.
Model train museum/display was quite impressive. Multiple gauges are displayed, and the dioramas are incredible. Also have a full size engine and Pullman car available for viewing.
Small garden steam train was in operation while we were there...a definite must for the little ones, along with the carousel.
While we were there, there were very few people (late on a Monday afternoon), so don't know how crowded it gets. But regardless this is worth exploring!

My husband and I love trains and the history of the Presidential Car is so exciting to hear about and to be able to sit on a chair they used is a very special feeling. This needs to be preserved forever and they are off to a GREST START!

My husband and visited McCormick-Stilman Railroad Park in order to attend a concert in the park in the early evening. However, had we realized how much more there is to this park, we would have arrived earlier! The are small boutiques, a vintage carousel, a small train that you can ride around the parameter of the park, a unique playground for the kiddies, model trains and a train museum. We arrived just as the model train museum building was closing, so we have a good excuse to visit again one day! This park was immaculately clean and well-groomed. A real gem in the middle of Scottsdale, Arizona!

The train ride is a hoot and the indoor electric trains are a lot of fun for the kids to watch. Don’t be scared if the parking lot has lots of cars as the place is huge

Super cool train ride and carousel. Only $3.00 per ride. Museum was closed but we have seen it before, very nice.

We loved this park! We did the train ride, which was fun and the kids enjoyed. The park and playground kept the kids busy and we could have spent a lot longer there but didn't plan well enough and got there late. Our kids are 5 and 3 and they loved it all!

I went there with family of which there was an 5 and 8 year old, and we had a blast. It is is reasonably priced for tickets, and the carousel was only 1 ticket each. The playground is great for the kids. The $4.50 kids lunch included an all beef hot dog, chips and a drink. Henry, our 8 year old loved the private rail car and all the history with it. We had to go through twice to make sure he didn’t miss anything. The museum had the biggest collection of toy trains with scenery representing the area. It is staffed by adult men who are big kids at heart, and they love their job. I enjoyed my visit as much as the kids.

I love this park! Just went here for probably the 50th time on Sunday with my two girls (ages 7 & 4), my hubby and our dog. This park has something for everyone - a carousel, a train you can ride (big one and a small one), a general store with the most amazing ice cream, lots of parks and playgrounds and more. Plus, if you stay around in Scottsdale for the summer months, you will LOVE Music in the Park! Every Sunday from May - July 4 they have a band in the evening. We bring a picnic blanket, dinner and we have a blast hanging out with friends and dancing in the moonlight. I highly recommend that you visit this park!

Took my grand daughter for a ride on the horses manege. A rarity in Scottsdale. The parc is well attended for family with kids of all ages. The little train ride is a fun things to do. It can be busy when the weather is cooler. The train museum is interesting. A good place for a picnic or a birthday party. Wildflower is across the street to feed the kids after the visit.

Loved that this park was great for little kids (3yrs and 1yr). It’s free to enter and walk around. To ride the small train around the perimeter of the park is $3/person, and our 3yr old loved it! The carousel was also fun. There’s 2 pretty large playgrounds, lots of picnic areas, and clean restrooms.
The indoor museum space is currently closed due to COVID-19 precautions, so we just enjoyed the outdoor area.

It is a flood place for kids to come and play. The grounds are ruberized, so soft enough when a child falls down anf it doesn't get as hot as hard concrete.
Kids from 10 months old to 6 years old share the space, climb on the fun structures and enjoy the views of the many train rides running around them.
It's a great park to improvise a picnic, to organise school students outings and or go on a train ride.
Have fun but beware of all the kids playing at the same time on the structures. Accidents happen fast so it is not a place for parents to completely relax. Do keep a close eye on your kids while enjoying the park's many amenities!

Every time I turn around I find something unique to see in town. First this is what it’s not: It is not a huge, gaudy, tourist-trap-y attraction; it’s not a super expensive, hard to get to, hard to find, hard to park, three hour, long line for a two min attraction, rip off. What it is will delight you. It is a beautiful park where you can go, picnic, read, relax and just enjoy the day. Or you can visit the 10,000sq ft Model railroad building that has 4 railroad clubs, lots of exhibits and 8 scales of trains including a full size Presidential Pullman Car!
If you think model trains aren’t for you ( you’ll love it anyway but, ok) then you can try the Railroad History Museum. It’s wonderful and there is so much to see there isn’t anything I can say to do it justice except that the City of Scottsdale Park’s & Rec Dept does a beautiful job.
But if that isn’t enough or you want something for the kids to play with, there are two themed playgrounds and a Vintage carousel for them to have a lot of fun with.
It’s is a wonderful gem right in the middle of Scottsdale. It’s right off Scottsdale Rd! I’ve driven past it a zillion times and never made plans to see it and when I did, wow, I thought to myself “how lucky are we! I’m here 23 years and I am never bored because there is always something great to find!

We have a 3 and 7 year old so finding something they both like isn't always easy. However, this is always a successful outing. The train only lasts 5 mins or so, but its enough. The miniture railway is housed in a building on site and has interactive features that the kids love.
The playgrounds are safe and fun.
Lots of shade for a picnic.

There is a lot to do here and the park is a great place to come for a picnic, outdoor party, or event. There are several grassy areas for picnics and playing as well as trains inside and outside. The model train layout is free and engaging for all ages. There are 3 layouts with different themes, though each has interactive elements for kids. Outside are several historical train cars and a mini train museum.

This is a family-oriented railroad-themed park that features a 5/12ths scale train ride, a 1950's carousel ride, a historical railroad museum, 2 food concessions, and a souvenir shop.
There are ample picnic areas.
We loved the miniature train building with dozens of interactive trains/villages. Wheelchair/stroller friendly grounds!
Open 7 days a week. 10:00 - 6:00.

My wife and I went and spent about 2 hours. Enjoyed the museum and the Roald Amundsen historic train car. Also enjoyed the model train displays which were impressive in scale.

This waa my favorite park to take the kids when they were in preschool to about 3rd grade. The train is really cute.

Loved this beautiful park. Shaded playground for age 5-10. Museum, gift shop, carousel, train ride, concessions, model train displays. Very interesting and fun train room. Costs were so REASONABLE. Rides were $3 and concessions affordable. Can bring a picnic. Lots of shaded space. Perfect for a family with kids.

Our family (five adults and one toddler) had a great time at this park. Admission is free. Tickets for the carousel and train are only $3 per person (kids 2 and under free). There is a nice gift shop. Playgrounds are imaginative and railroad or Southwest themed. Many play areas are shaded, a blessing in the hot sunny climate. Highly recommend for families with toddlers and preschoolers.

We have four grandkids ages one to six and we will visit this park at least once any time they visit. It’s clean and there is lots of room to run. No one is tired yet of riding the train or carousel, and luckily these are inexpensive. One of the play areas is designed like a western town and the oldest ones love to play here. The playground with the slides and swings has some specifically for the for the little ones so they aren’t getting pushed around by the bigger kids. We haven’t been to the museum yet, nor have we been to any of the park’s special events, so we still have lots to discover.

We live just a few miles from this park. It is a great park for picnics, get togethers, etc. Complete with playgrounds, a train ride snack bars and an indoor working miniature train exhibit (Big one) A site to see. We come here mainly two times of the year, At Christmas when they have tremendous Christmas Decor, something to see at night, and for the summer concert series when some great bands of all kinds perform Sunday nights and the families and people of Scottsdale come out and have a great time.

We went here with our three children ages 4-11. We had a great time exploring all the play structures. We all rode the train and the kids rode the carousel. Each attraction is 1 ticket ($2). Or you can get 6 tickets for $10. They also offer an all day wristband for $10. Kids 2 and under are free. The museum is free for kids under 12. Our children loved the steam train building which was full of model trains.

Well, we wanted to take our 4 year old grandson out for the day. It was sunny and beautiful - the kind of day you have to be outside. So we packed up a nice picnic lunch, grabbed a blanket and jumped in the car. We got to the ""Train Park" (as he calls it) about 10:30 and already the parking lot was full. One of the neat things about this venue is you can reserve a ramada area for a birthday party or group event. You can check out their website for more information. Back to our visit - first stop was the ticket office (and rest rooms). There is no admission to the park, but you will need tickets for the Merry-go-round, the trains and the Pullman exhibit. On this visit, Charlie rode the Merry-go-round and the train with his grandmother for a total of 4 tickets or $8. I was the official photographer. By this time it was picnic time. We found a nice, sunny area on the lawn and spread out our blanket. There always seems to plenty of room for picnics, although there is also a snack bar and a sit down restaurant, if you prefer.
After lunch, Charlie wanted to go to the playground area. There are actually two playground areas - a western town themed one in the ramada area and the more extensive one by the snack bar. Charlie went for the more extensive one. He loved it! He went non stop for two straight hours. The equipment is well constructed, well maintained and quite safe. I did notice there were no staff overseeing the playground areas, and then I realized there were so many parents and grand parents standing around monitoring their own children. All was fine. We ended our visit with a visit to the model train house, which is actually a very large building which houses a number of model trains with some interesting interactive demonstrations.
I would recommend this for any children between the ages of two and six or seven. They do not have to be interested in trains - it's a great place to run around and be active outside. I know Scottsdale is a vacation destination for many families, and this is an excellent resource for them for their younger children.
This was a well designed, safe, well monitored, inexpensive and fun place. The real review is that Charlie can't wait to go back again.

I was out for a walk and discovered this place. My son loves trains and this place would be great. Model trains setup, kids sized trains to ride on, and a locomotive, cars, and caboose on display. How fun!

Must see for children and in my case, toddlers! You can choose to go here and not spend any money or you can buy train tickets and carousel tickets ~$3/ticket for over 3.
The playground and the railroad museum are completely free and are very entertaining by itself. The Pullman car here was used for four different presidents as their mode for transportation! My husband coined it "train force one". It's on the National list of historical places and is worth checking out.

Rides, rooms filled with toy train exhibits, playground activities - ice cream! All aboard! My nephew had his 4th birthday party here, too. Such a fun and unique activity for children of all ages.

Road the train around the park. Train has physically challenged accessible car so my entire family was able to ride. Concession stand was closed. :-) Ice cream place was open.

Best place in town to take the kids
Miniature train and an old fashioned carousel
You will not be disappointed

We took our 13 year old grandson here for an afternoon. Terrific spot, especially the massive displays of working model railroads. He would have spent all day there. A lot of detail has gone into the displays. Lovely outdoor venue as well.

Ok, first there is the great little train ride through the park. Can't beat that, young or old. I'd just have to advise leave that last cattle car to those short of stature as it's rather hard to exit if you're much larger than a small child.
They also have a very nicelly restored carosel.
Next up a stroll through the park will reviel some rather interesting bits of rail road history from around the world.
To cap it all off, there are several very professionally done model rail road set ups in many scales. Thes are usually running with the help of many of the local Model rail road clubs.
Lastly, there is a great play ground and faux western town for the kides to play in while you set up your pic nic under the many shaded areas.

One of the very best indoor model railroad active exhibits we have ever seen and we are enthusiasts. Lot of different scale trains moving all the time on various geographic sites. Additional outdoor activities including a fun train ride on spacious grounds. Also a museum and a tour through train cars, including one that was used by presidents for touring. Something here for everyone of every age.

My husband and I visited the park and couldn’t believe the collection of train memorabilia. The collection of model railroads and trains were very impressive. The playground and picnic areas were perfect for families. This park is a true gift to the people blessed to live in Scottsdale!

A great stop for families and/or model train lovers. Train exhibit (free) showcases different sizes of train layouts - N scale, HO, and O. Lots to see. Plus park with play equipment and picnic area.

Loved the model train garden and Pullman car. And it's free unless you want to ride the small trains which are meant for kids.

My husband loves trains so we decided to check this park out. We loved it and had a great time visiting the different exhibits. First, we went into the Roald Amundsen Pullman Car. This is the actual car used by 4 of our presidents - Hoover, F. Roosevelt, Truman and Eisenhower, and Canada's Prime Minister McKenzie King. It has been restored and was so interesting to see the dinning car, kitchen, sleeping compartments and lounge.
Next, we went to the Model Railroad Building. This is a large building with layouts of trains of various gauges. You can spend a lot of time here. There are more things to see including a ride on a train which we did not do this time.
This is a great place for families.

This is a pretty cute little place to walk around for a few minutes and stretch your legs. The kids would probably enjoy the train ride and other "playground" type attractions. Unfortunately, all the best parts are closed to the public at this time.

In Scottsdale for business and found this place. Being a bunch of train nuts this is real cool. The train ride loop around was fun. The older coach cars you can take a walk down memory lane

Our 1st time staying in Scottsdale on a quick visit for a football game. Yay Steelers! We enjoyed this park devoted to train history. The building with model trains was amazing. Different train sizes and layouts made this so enjoyable. Watching the hobbiests that care for these displays in action was fascinating. This could easily take over 1 hour to view the entire display and longer if you have more time to linger at each display. This reminded us of childhood collections of model trains. Glad to see this hobby is still alive and thriving in this display. We went after seeing an advertisement for a train ride through the Christmas light displays. What fun! We got caught up in a rain shower but did not let it spoil the fun. Don't miss this inexpensive family friendly attraction. Lots of photo opportunities. Fun to relive the era of train travel and viewing actual Pullman cars used by 4 of our US Presidents. Enjoy free parking and low admission prices, a rarity today.

If you like trains, you'll be in heaven. If you like nice parks, you'll love this one, too. Trains of every shape and size can be found in this unique and fun park, and around Christmastime, you can fine lights and holiday activities. We have visited by ourselves, with our grown kids, and with our little nephews... the experience is different with each, but just as enjoyable. Definitely recommended for a fun afternoon out.

We took our young grandson to the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. He was mesmerized by the train as it travelled around the park. We did not stay long as it was his nap time. However we will definitely return and enjoy the opportunities provided.

This historical property, operated by the City of Scottsdale, is a nice outing.
Period buildings, a scale railway around the property, and the well-preserved Presidential Pullman car of FDR and Truman.

We visited this place at Christmas and rode the "small sit-on train around the tracks looking at all the Christmas lights . We went into the building with all the model trains. I was amazed and throughly enjoyed seeing all the hobby trains, tracks, layouts, etc. Adults and kids loved this area. You could easily spend an hour watching, talking to the hobbiests, looking at the collections, etc. I loved the detail in the miniature cities / villages. The parking was free and the price to enter was included in our ticket to ride the train. Next time I will look at the actual train cars on display. Don't miss this!!

You will love this train park. The playground equipment is terrific, with lots of different levels for the kids to play on. The train ride is just so fun, the train museum is REALLY neat, the little cafe is darling, too. It is just the perfect place to take your family.

How can this possibly be Free? Well done Scottsdale.
If you have kids this has to be on your Must Do list.
The most awesome model train layouts, real trains, live steam train rides, park to play in, a carousel.
Simply awesome.

I took my son and brother to check it out and we had a great time. We also discovered some Pokemon Go stops so we hung out a little longer. Very educational and would be best in cooler weather.

Restaurant was out of sight prices , didnt lok that appetizing. No public store here for just water , drink , snack unless you wanted to pay to tour the "so called museum" , not much here

First - unless you ride the tiny trains, etc., it's free. The model RR room is engaging, especially the 'larger' scale layout (the two smaller ones don't photograph as well and are hard to see in detail). Lots of engaging detail. The little train depots buildings are interesting as a short stop as it the Pullman car for a walk through with the bonus of a conversational docent in the observation rear. Lots of families around enjoying the park and I'm sure great for the kids, but I was really there for the adult exhibits and it was a nice stop.

Take a ride on the train and relax with the kids in this long standing park. Fun for you and the kids.

Lots of activities for families. There is a merry go round, minature train track and railroad museum.

We’ve been bringing our kids here for years! It’s always a fun, clean, well-run environment! I do wish they would have more events that are open for kids, but overall a great experience!

This was a great place. Especially for children it is well kept clean and interesting. We did not pay the fee to go on any of the trains or in the trains but we just walked around the outskirts very cool place

A nice place to spend a couple of hours at. If you like trains this is the place. They have great train layouts. Kids can spend hours here. Staff is very friendly and helpful. If in Scottsdale a must place to see.

The train ride was cool ... I thought they did well with the Christmas lights my Son really enjoyed the park

Nice little train park. Lines were very long for a train ride. Not a lot to see and takes about 1 hour to get through it all.

We came to just walk around, but were pleasantly surprised by what all is going on here. Train rides, big playground, picnic areas, and railroad cars for birthday parties.

I have 4 year old twins and they loved every part of this park. Their favorite part was the big play ground that is covered by shade cloth. They rode the train and the carousel and had a great time. They also liked the model trains that drove around the room but that was most fun for the adults. Was very neat to see how much work and thought that was put into it all. Very nice would definitely recommend!

Grandson loves all the trains. Trains to ride, the huge model train set. Nice playground. Merry-go-round proved popular.

A great attraction for all ages, locals and visitors. Comprehensive model train exhibits - that run - from Z scale to the ride-on-top little steamers (often available for rides at a tiny price) that old guys love to obsess over.
You can also buy rides on the non-scale park railway - a classic - or the carousel. Elsewhere there are Ramadas and tables for picnics large and small (popular for birthday parties and bounce houses.) And best of all are expanses of soft green grass that visitors crave in February, March or any other time.
There are also full-size train cars to tour (fee) and a mid-century throwback tiny old west town for the kids to play in along with a standard playground.
There are Sunday night concerts in summer, kids events in spring, and Christmas is a lighting extravaganza. Don’t miss the little ice cream and souvenir shop in a train station.

My husband and I visited McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. We enjoyed the beautiful grounds, walking paths and or course the railroad cars and station.
The model train exhibit was the best. It was remarkable that this was in a free public park. There are three huge displays of various types of model trains. Each had controls that the public could use to get to trains moving. That was nice, since you got to control each train yourself .
We would definitely visit again.

My wife and I went to this Railroad Park with our grandchildren. They did not want to leave! The grounds are beautiful with multiple trains for the kids to ride. The highlight for me was the Presidential Pullman car that Eisenhower, Hoover, Roosevelt and Truman used. It was something special.

Very popular place for the locals and there are events held here regularly. Recently we went for a 1970s rock concert here. Lots of activities for the children and places to eat picnic etc. Parking can be a pain so if you come for an event it is better to arrive early or you will not find a spot.

Always so fun and affordable. Great location, fun and safe environment for all ages. Tons to do and the train ride is the best. Our entire family had fun.
The park was a hit for the kids and so were the rides. We all had ice cream and a wonderful afternoon.
Must stop for families!

This was a perfect family outing with young children. It’s a big park with picnic shelters, grassy space, a great shaded playground, a snack shop, a small museum (including two historical train cars you can go into), a model train museum (which is free), a train you can ride, and a carousel. The train and the carousel require tickets. Tickets, museum admission, and food are not too expensive and lines are minimal (we went on a Sunday morning and a Wednesday morning) so you don’t feel gauged or nickled and dimed as with bigger touristy places like the Arizona Boardwalk. Overall just wonderful.

This is by far the best place in the Valley of the Sun, Scottsdale, Phoenix area to take kids. The train and carousel are fun and affordable. Children under 2 are free, tickets are $2.00. Each ride is 1 ticket. But there are numerous picnic tables, lots of grass and a large play area with swings, slides , monkey bars, and even a water area when weather is warmer. Lots of free things to do. Check to see if covered ramada are reserved before using. There is a sign as you enter telling you. There is even a wild west themed play area to climb in, on, and over. Gift shop is reasonably priced as is the food at the snack stop. Nice selection too. Hot dogs, burgers, chili, and chicken nuggets. There is also an ice cream parlor that sells some food if the snack stop is closed. A very nice railroad museum,( closed in the summer months)an a building with model rail roads around out your day.All in all fun for the whole family.

Always on the lookout for kids stuff. Very unique. High quality exhibits. Big park. Nice playgrounds. Minimal fee for model trains and train rides but well worth it.

We enjoyed walking around the park, but the highlight is the model train building. It is very well done. We came back for the Christmas train at night. A fun time for all

This park is amazing if you have kids and even a passing interest in trains. The prices for the train ride, museum entry, carousel, or ice cream are all very reasonable.

Really fun and peaceful park that happens to have a lot of train things - FDR’s rail car, an extensive model train layout, and a 15” gauge live steam train that Carrie’s passengers. Nice shops as well. Spoke with Gary - in charge of the steam trains - he and all the folks there are really focused on engaging with the visitors and getting kids excited about trains. The highlight of my short stay in Phoenix!

What a cool place for the kids. Unassuming, well out together, and fun. It was an enjoyable experience.

The land, all 100 acres was gifted to the people of Scottsdale by McCormick and the model railway was the brainchild of Stillman. How brilliant this was to make a place where families can come and enjoy the outdoors while taking in a bit of railway history. The quote on the wall of the model train building summed it all up - " It is never too late to have a happy childhood". Trains have a magical way of bring out the child in us. Such a lovely place to enjoy a few hours -

An hour for adults, afternoon for a family.
First, this is mostly all free.
The railroad museum you can do in 15-30 minutes and it is a cool old restored set of cars that showed how it was to travel in the Merci Train.
The big surprise is the huge model railroad trains and setup they had. Four huge loops, each with muliti-levels, trick stuff, villages, helicopters, etc, mostly all working at a push button. Another 15-30 minutes.
We spent a nice hour or so here and it was free, just my wife and I retired.
If we had the Grandkids, we would have gone on the Merry go round, train, had a picnic and spend another hour or two. Pretty modest fees for the Merry Go round and train (miniture kiddy train)

I visit this place every year, sometimes twice. It is great for all ages.
there are minature trains to ride on and a building with 3 giant electric trains.
HO-Z and Lionel . Always enthusiasts working on them and are
happy to explain any questions.

We has a company picnic at the park. Good shelters and lots of room for kids games. clean rest rooms close by. Lots of parking.
Train was fun

What a great afternoon! We brought our kids (3 and 7) here for an afternoon. No cost to get in and only a small cost ($2) to ride the train around the park and go on the carousel. Totally worth it! The kids loved the park and they really loved the miniature train building with all the model trains set up! Great attraction.

The Mcormick Railroad Park is adorable. I have taken my kids to this place over the span of their lifetime and I have such a good feeling about it every time. The displays and collections have grown over the years and all is done with a sincere love for all. This one of a kind park is a treasure within the Scottsdale, Arizona community and it is a must go place especially during the holiday season!

Unique playgrounds. Little trains to ride that aren't expensive at all (buy tickets at the main building). A model train museum that is free and entertained my kids for a long time. Real trains you can wander through. Nice bathrooms and water fountains. TONS of picnic space. My two six year old boys had to be dragged away :)

Model railroad train exhibit was very well displayed. Appreciate that it was free. Unfortunately, there is a fee to see the full size Pullman cars used by U.S. Presidents so we did not visit it. Playground was nice and clean. Lots of picnic tables.

We have spent so many special times at this park. they have a large well equipped playground, and a second playground that is a Western Town. The train is the best I've seen at a park. We especially like to ride it on weekends because that is when the steam engine runs. They have a second miniature train run by "The Steamers", who are volunteer train enthusiasts. There's plenty of space for picnics, events, and playing with the kids. There is also a very nice carousel, that I still love to ride myself. Christmas time is wonderful with the Holidy lights you can see when you ride the train. If you haven't been to this park you need to go.

This is such a versatile park - something for everyone! I would say that this is a local treasure that tourists can also appreciate. For railroad fans, there is a real locomotive with engine & cars that you can walk through. A railroad club meets here & sets up exhibits of model trains & on a more somber note there is a rail car that was used to transport holocaust victims to concentration camps. There is also a small train that you can ride. The ride is a good length around the park and includes a tunnel. At Christmas, the park is decorated & this ride is a lot of fun. There is an old fashioned carousel the kids can ride and a playground with a western theme complete with stagecoach and buildings they can climb on. In addition, there is plenty of open grassy areas to run and play in as well as picnic tables and grills for picnics. Fabulous place for birthday parties or just a place for the kids to let off some steam!

The primary mission was to entertain the 3 year olds. They were enthralled.
Must say the Presidential Rail Car was super impressive. Hoover, FDR, Truman and Ike all rode in it.
Lotta fun with the Singing Cowboy and his Wonder Horse, Dusty.

If you would like to see an amazing display of Christmas lights and decorations this is the place to visit during the Holidays.

This place is a MUST DO, period. If you have kids, grandkids, friends with kids, or you're still a kid, you have to go. Picnic, ride the train, watch the train, have a great time. Winter months only.

The tiny railroad one can ride around with, the beautiful carousel, old railroad cars and a terrific model railroad plus so much more is worth visiting again and again

This park as a small train to ride around in and a carousel as well. There is a small train museum in the front. They have an ice cream shop and do concerts in the park on Saturdays when it's warm out summer months

Visited with out of town company including a toddler. So much fun being there with a child. He rode the merry go round and all of us rode the train.Noticed a couple of children's birthday parties going on. Enjoyed some good ice cream cones.

Great place to bring kids! Free park and mini train station playground. The carousel ride and train ride was only $2/person. The kids absolutely loved the train ride, definitely a must do! We took our 6 year old, 3 year old and 2 year old. They all loved it. Small place to eat with very good priced meals for the kids. Will come again and highly recommend!

Its a little hot in the summer, but riding the miniature train about a mile around the park is awesome. And the model trains in the buildings and playgrounds within the burlap shade is quite awesome.
Definitely a small child (2-7) destination!!

My wife and I brought 2 of our friends children, and we all fell in love with this place. From the train ride, and loved the tiny enclosed box cat that the kids could climb in.... to the super tiny steam train that was giving rides. The playground for the kids was second to none I've ever seen and out being covered was a huge bonus! The trains set up inside were phenomenal! Just a really awesome place that I'm sure we'll be back to several times, even though it's over an hour drive for us, in the far west valley. Well worth the drive!

a great place to explore with vintage train cars in mint condition, my wife and I loved spending a few hours here!

This is an adorable park with something for all members of the family, benches for the sitters, swings for the swingers, picnic areas abound, and trains everywhere, and a carousel for those who like to horse around.....
Plenty of shaded areas for those warmer days!
I live here so I visit often.

Great place for kids. Has a train museum as well as model trains display. It has a slow fun train ride and a carousel - for a very small fee. Kids also love the playground there. We had a great time as the weather was just perfect for a day out.

A lovely park that hosts dozens of events and fun for all ages. A small train ride is the centerpiece while the classic carousel adds whimsy. With snack and food cars and the necessary souvenir stand, it’s the ideal place for children. And for the young at heart, there is a building that houses model train hobbyists with working displays and club members happy to talk about the models. A beautiful gem of a park.

We visited last night and had a blast. We were with a group with kids ranging from 4 to 10 and they all loved it. Even the adults enjoyed themselves. The train ride is about 10 minutes. We also rode the carousel which is just a few minutes and completed our visit riding the mini train. The mini train is free but they do ask for donations and the ride is under 5 minutes. All of it is so neat and definitely worth the small price tag. I would suggest purchasing your tickets during the day when the train park is open and getting there about an hour before the evening event kicks off.

Hard to believe that there never was a railroad track in Scottsdale, but they have this FANTASTIC railroad park.

This is a large park with full size "static" train cars, as well as an operating train that takes people on a ride around the park for a few bucks.
One building houses "the largest model train display in North America".
The park and train display are avalue and a don't miss.

Our boys loved going here riding the carousel, the little train around the park, the playground area which is padded. Even the washroom were super clean. The indoor miniature railroad exhibit was great. Take a picnic let the kids run around.

We went to visit the train museum on Monday January 29th, the hours of operation said they were open until 5pm, we got there at 4:15 and everything was closed... my husband who loves trains was very disappointed. If your hours say until 5, no matter how slow it is, you stay open until 5... have respect for people’s time.

My 7 year old had a great time here. Nice park with misters for the kids to cool off and train rides.

This is such a fun park for children and train enthusiasts! Free admission and minimal charges for train and carousel rides. The miniature train museum is truly amazing.

Cute spot to do a pit stop while in Phoenix. It’s free (they do charge for different activities such as the merry go round but it’s a minimal fee of $2). We enjoyed the miniature train section the best.

We go to this park several times a year as we have a 5-yr-old who is serious rail fan and loves the model trains and the authentic steam train the circles the park. And the big bonus in early summer are the free concerts on Sunday evenings. The Sunday before last featured the Dec '63 Band, a tribute to the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons from the 1960's-70's. Awesome!

Great place to picnic and see static train displays including the Pullman and Merci boxcar (a gift to AZ from the French people in 1949). We enjoyed lunch by a statue from Bill Keane's cartoon the Family Circus. Fun to wave at familys riding on the RR. Models and museum buildings closed.

This is our third annual meeting here. Awesome fun as always. I opted for the wristband this year, much better than continually fumbling with tickets. I love the train ride, rode it several times.

We live quite near the park and are yearly members. It cuts down on the arguments for the need for "more tickets" to ride the train or merry-go-round. We love the outdoor areas and the miniature train museum is a treat.

This park is prefect. clean and so much to do with very little money. All the playground stuff and the Carousel and train make it perfect

I you are a model railroad fan or a kid enjoying a day outdoors this is a lovely park. Take a ride on a small railroad train around the park and visit the museum. There is a carousal for your riding pleasure. Grab an ice cream and sit under a tree in the shade. Lovely!

This is a wonderful park for children with multiple playgrounds, a carousel and a train ride around the park. Your kids will love it here. All is well maintained and safe for children

Beautiful decorations and fun carousel! Great for families with small children. Highly recommend a visit.

I arrived about 9:45 AM and was immediately impressed by the steam locomotive and station at the entrance. I expected to find the gates locked but this is an open and inviting park with several gathering places that can be reserved for your group picnic. A few minutes before 10:00 I heard the park train coming out of storage to be boarded for the first run of the day. I went into the station to try to buy a ticket but gave up because the line for tickets was long and barely moving. After watching the rain depart loaded with parents, grand parents, and lots of pre-schoolers, I decided against a train ride. At my age children are best appreciated from a distance. I wandered around a bit longer taking pictures and videos of the park train before trying to buy a ticket to the museum. Again, I gave up on buying a ticket because the line was not moving. Both times I tried to buy a ticket, I did not see one person leave with a ticket. We all just stood in line while the person behind the counter did something. I walked to the Model Railroad Building. Very interesting layouts; but, I was disappointed that there were at most two trains operating on a couple of the layouts. I watched while two people tried to get a train running on the N Gauge layout; but, when I returned they were no where to be seen and nothing was moving.
One thing distributed me. I saw several small children and adults walking between the gauge of the park train tracks and the full sized tracks in front of the station. I seriously doubt the these children have the ability to distinguish between train tracks in a park and the dangers of real life railroad tracks.

This area is setup with kid playground, a long figure eight train ride, carousul, a building with miniature train displays and food court in a large park like setting. Good place to let young kids blow off steam.

Spend a wonderful day on the playground and play structures, riding the train, and the carousel. Good for a number of hours excursion- ages 1-7, easily.

everything was awesome . We totally enjoyed it very much would defintly come back again we love it very much

It’s as a rainy day needed something to do. Awesome railroad museum for only 2 dollars. The model railroad section is amazing and free. Worth hour of your time. They do have a railroad you can ride at night during the holidays which looks great and the old Pullman car you get to go into is really cool.

Great family experience. 6 year old loves it! The train is magnificient. Kids and trains, a great combination.

We love taking our granddaughter to this park. The park is nicely decorated during the holidays and there are plenty of options to keep kids busy. We think that the prices are a little high for the experience(s) received. The food is average park eats, the bathrooms are generally clean and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The train museum is a must of train buffs!

Park is for the whole family, enjoyed the displays of toy train set ups. Area for children to play, ice cream and souvenirs available

I like that this is an actual "park" with a railroad. It doesn't seem like a cheesy tourist trip but a place you could take your kids over and over.

I have taken my grandkids many times to lovely adventures what a nice family place the train is a+
The merry go round makes smiles
The playground is all smiles I am truly impressed that a city could come up with this
Birthday. Parties are easy to do
Just good fun

Pack a lunch and visit the Mccormick-Stallman Railroad Park/Museum. Been there several times and its a place to enjoy and learn about the railroad history in Arizona. The second visit we packed a lunch and enjoyed the park decked out for Christmas. Whether you go at Christmas or anytime of the year it a great experience.

Our grandchildren always enjoy this when they are in town. We took a picnic lunch and they had fun on the playground before riding the train and the carousel.

Our whole family (kids aged 3 and 6 plus parents) loved this park. From the train ride and carousel to the amazing covered playground, it was a blast! There are clean washrooms, plenty of benches to relax on, train and carousel rides are only $3 each, and there are museums with train everything to look at including a real train set up like it would have been. We didn't even get to the model museum after two visits.

My family of 6 included people ranging in age from 80-11y.o. While it was interesting and we enjoyed ourselves, the park is better suited to younger children (i.e., 2-10y.o.) than tweens and teens.
However, if you are a train enthusiast, then this is a great stop to put on your itinerary. Also, it is very reasonably priced.

Kids love it & adults too. Playground, train, carousel, ice cream, gifts, & nature!! What more can you ask for???

We visited this while on vacation in Scottsdale. Our little one LOVES trains so we thought we'd check out this place. Sadly, COVID had restricted a lot of their activities we were excited to be able to take advantage of 3 their most popular ones. We first took the train ride around the park (about a 10min ride that runs every 1/2hr) then we rode the Carousel right after. It was extremely hot out so we looked for some air-conditioned relief. We went into the model train exhibit and it was incredible! A must see when you are there! We have 3 girls and a boy. They all enjoyed themselves immensely!

Enjoying our stay in the area but needed to get out of the condo, so stopped at the park.Grounds are well cared for, the rest rooms were open and it wasn't crowded, so easy to keep our social distance. The train cars are fun to look at. There is a train to ride and a carousel, plus a snack shop....hope to go back next year to visit more thoroughly.

The Railroad park has something special for everyone, adult and child alike. We enjoy taking our grandchildren for a ride on the train, which has all the “bells and whistles.” The impressive train goes over bridges and winds its way through some very nice parts of the park. There is a nice playground large enough for many kids to enjoy at once.
The crowning glory of this park is the model train setup. This is a full size room containing a gorgeous and sophisticated model train setup. Mostly for adults and mature children, the model train setup is one of the best that I have ever seen. I would never tire of seeing this impressive endeavor.

This park is really amazing for the kiddos! I had my daughters 3rd Birthday here and it was the perfect amount of fun for everyone. Great spot for a picnic as well! I wish we lived closer. 😊

Very nice park with a lot of history.
We went on a train ride and merry go around. They even let me take my dog on the 2 rides. Nice snack shop and museum.

This is a small park with tables there is a snack bar to buy food. Nice Merry Go Round for small children to ride fun for adult to watch them. There is a charge to visit full size trains. Visit the indoor space to watch small trains this is free to visit. There is a nice gift shop and good bathrooms.

Absolutely wonderful train park for the kids! Great picnic facilities and multiple jungle gyms for the kids to explore. The train that circulates the property is so much fun! They have a merry-go-round and snack bar too. And the best part, it’s free! This would be a great place to throw a kid’s birthday party.

Fun park, reasonable prices for rides, brought a picnic lunch and enjoyed the wonderful weather. Even older kids enjoyed the museums and model trains.

They were fantastic for families! I recommend having your tickets purchased before you arrive. Then getting their early to allow for parking. Have one adult stand in the train line while the kids play at the playground. Dividing and conquering for a fantastic event for kids! They have added lights since I last went and my 5 & 7 year old loved it!

My kids both love this place. Our 7 year old has been coming here for 7 years and now my 2 year old also loves this place. Pleanty to do , small trains, big trains , rides etc. $2.00 for tickets per person . Park cost are very affordable for birthdays etc , rent out spot.

Great way to kill a couple hours. My toddlers loved the miniature railways and riding the train and carousel. We liked the little museum and rail cars that you could walk through as well. Very budget friendly as well.

We brought our granddaughters, aged 3 and 6. Everything was perfectly designed for their age range! The train ride was a special treat, but the train museum was phenomenal. We spent more than an hour exploring the fantastic displays; even the three year old was mesmerized! Even the snack bar was geared for young children. A MUST SEE with little ones when visiting Scottsdale!

Miniature trains running through amazing backgrounds. And restored trains cars that 4 presidents travelled on. There is a beautiful carrousel. And on site parking. The staff is kind and knowledgeable this place should not be missed when visiting Scottsdale it’s perfect for young and old alike

Great museum. The train ride was cute, the whole place is just a hoot. How cool. Lots to see and do, and everyone was so friendly. The facility is also clean and well-kept. What a jewel. I wish our town had a museum like this.

The railroad park is great fun for a family or friends to walk around or play. The museum is informative and very cheap to visit. Good value!

Great atmosphere for a family outing ,,,rides plenty of space good eats . I would highly recommend this RR park ...it's a stress buster..

We were primarily there for the benefit of our three year old granddaughter, who loved the carousel, the "big" train ride, the playground, and the model train pavilion. We went there three times in two days, the highlight being the night train ride through the Christmas lights. The adults loved it as well.

Great place to come to kids will love it so much to do great museum to see the train ride around the park lots of walking a gift shop and food

We were in town for vacation and considering going to the zoo. All my 2.5 year old toddler wanted to do was swim, so we decided to try the train park instead of the zoo. JACKPOT. We could've stayed longer, but an hour and a half was perfect for how our day was going. We rode the train and the carousel and walked around a little. There were other activities that we could've done, but based on our timing it was perfect to come for a short or a longer visit. There were quite a few other things we didn't do. We were so happy we found this gem and were able to mix up our day but not invest a lot and feel obligated to stay all day.

My wife and I years ago spent much time here with grandchildren. They are grown now. This weekend we had the pleasure of taking care of two young children of our friends from Camp Pendleton in California. The Train ride($3.00pp) was as fun as ever. Bathrooms are good. Families having picnics and other child centered things going on. The Train Ride is decorated for Holloween which we do not celebrate and they ran the Train mostly in the opposite direction, I guess to leave most of the decorations to be a supprise for the night Halloween activities. Plenty of free parking and no entry fee.

There is a reason this place rates as one of if not the top attraction in Scottsdale for visitors and locals alike. It has a little of something for everyone in it's wide open space that you never feel too crowded in even during the holidays when crowds typically pick up. For the railroad enthusiasts you have the obvious attractions and the models on display are always fun to see. The volunteers are great to provide help and insight to the little ones and adults with any questions. Kids love the train ride around the park and the merry go round is a hit too. The various playgrounds/areas appeal to all ages of kids and the adults will enjoy a good spot to always have a seat to relax and enjoy watching their kids play with lots of open space and benches/tables all around. This is a great place for birthday parties too whether in a train car or outdoors at a ramada. You can spend as little or as much time you want here and it is FREE! Go check it out and find what appeals to you and let others know what a special place this really is.

The whole family enjoyed this park. We have two children - ages 6 and 4. Boys loved riding the train and can't wait to go back.

We loved our morning at the railroad park. I loved that there were plenty of benches to sit on to relax and enjoy being there. There was plenty of shade, too; which is always a big plus in our part of the country. The bathrooms were very clean and the grounds were also very clean. There is no entry fee and parking is also free.
The train ride we timed at just about 7 minutes and the merry go round was around 3 minutes. Tickets are very reasonable - especially if you purchase them in groups. Children 2 and under are free.
The museums are fun and interesting, too.

My grandson loves trains and thought he and his sisters would love to see the locomotives, trains. What was really fun was riding on the little train and seeing all the Christmas decorations and the carousel. They enjoyed it so much. The playground was enjoyed by all 3. It was a great trip for all of us.

This is Absolutely beautiful near the holidays at night. And Fun for the grandchildren. The history and the wonders of trains. It’s worth the trip.

This park has a Christmas train ride through the park. The park is beautifully decorated for Christmas. There are lights everywhere! The cost was very reasonable at $5 for adults. It's a very festive activity!

Had fun with my family and friends. The train was fun .take your walking shoes.Loved this place. ....

Been coming here for years first with my own kids. Now take my grandkids
They love it. It is very kid friendly. It is clean and just a good place to spend the day

A great place for all ages. The grandkids loved the Carosal and a ride around the park on a miniature train and the playground - complete with swings. (Which are no longer found in most city parks - i guess you can fall off a swing) The adults enjoyed the museum, and enevyone like the model train building. A massive assortment of functioning model trains. The model trains are run by three different clubs.

The park has a variety of railway cars to walk through along with a museum. The best part of the park though is the model railway building that has three large layouts set up. Each layout uses a different gauge of track. The layouts are extensive and detailed and if you are lucky there will be trains running. I was able to chat with some of the club members and find out more about their layout.

The train running through the park is the main attraction for the 3-6 year olds. Carousel is excellent. Snack shop and bathrooms are good.

I have some young kids and we have been here a few times. They love the play place and to ride the train and merry-go-round.

This railroad park is definitely a hidden gem in Scottsdale. I wanted to see The Family Circus/Bill Keane statue and we stayed a bit longer to see the railroad park. This is a kid’s dream; the railroad cars, the carousel, the tiny model trains - this place is cool.

We took a ride on the train the views were amazing . The staff was very informative .
When we return with my children i intend to let them take a ride along with us .

This was such an enjoyable place to see model trains. The detail of the displays was wonderful. We went during the week, so we were able to see all the displays without too many people around. This is a place for all ages.

This was a fun place to learn about the role of railroads in this country, as to well as to see a Pullman car which carried several of our presidents. This is also a great place for children. However, it seems some of the snack food vending areas were closed. The train ride was fun.

The moment you walk from your vehicle in the parking lot, you are in an 1800’s Railroad Depot station and surrounded by not only a train station, but the environs of a general store, museum, baggage car, passenger cars and perfectly laid out picnic ramadas and children’s play areas! Everything here is not only clean, pretty and meticulously maintained, but you’re in an inviting locale for couples, families and especially kids to either relax, eat al fresco or tour. The museum offers an incredible exhibition of multiple gauge railroads (albeit under constant expansion, renovation and repair) from small towns, businesses, industrial, mountains, rivers and incredible art depicting miniaturized masters of the train world, not to mention other micro art of houses and layouts! The railroad park is not only entertaining and relaxing, I am sure you will learn much about America’s Railroad History. Their snack shop is in a caboose, the general store – was really a general store. Oh by the way, there is an incredible 19th Century Carousel that will make a child of anyone of any age. This fascinating place was established in 1971 a non-profit organization and works primarily by incredibly helpful and courteous, as well a knowledgeable volunteers. If you are interested in trains, or even just the history aspect and nostalgia, this is a place not to miss. Go for a couple of hours, or spend the day, it will be well worth your while! Enjoy!

This is an amazing park with so much to see and do. Many things are free. The train and carousel were only $2 per person. The museum was also $2 but only for those 12 and over.
Definitely worth a visit. The train ride even goes through a tunnel. The model railway building is amazing. It is also interactive. There are hands which the kids can touch and it operates a train or one of the other features.
The museum has a Pullman car that several Presidents rode in. Lots of great memorabilia.
So worth a visit.

Nice place to spend an hour or two for children.
the museum with the railroad exhibits is nice
not expensive and layout is spread out

Fun place for tots. Right off Scottsdale rd. Bring a lunch and hang out or they have snacks on the premises Something a little different

This is the greatest place for fun for families, kids, and those who still like to act like kids! We bring our grandsons nearly every visit. Catching the annual model train fair a couple of times mezmerized both grandson and grandpa alike. Then comes the train ride in the cattlecar—a must. After that, it’s trying to do everything else, i.e. ice cream, merry-go-round, picnic grounds, play ground, train museum, etc, etc. and that’s not even mentioning their seasonal concerts, fireworks, etc!!

Younger kids can run off loads of energy here. At Christmas everything is really well decorated - making for really nice family photos. You can look around for free &/or take a mini train ride, not too expensively.

We were here with my daughter, 3. This is one of the best deals we found in the entire Phoenix/Scottsdale area. It was fun to have a book of tickets to spend at various attractions and the attractions themselves were very fun! My kiddo loved it.
Don't miss the model train building. There is no cost to enter this building, but the extensive work into these trains was a hit for all generations!
There are also 2 playgrounds for the kids to romp around on. Both were very nice. Definitely a great place to burn some fuel with the kids.

Be sure to go during Christmas when they do the lights around the park and the train goes through the Christmas themed lights display. Otherwise, the park is still super fun with the train, carousel and playground. Check the events because sometimes they do movies in the park and when they have their annual festival it includes bounce houses and a petting zoo etc.

We came here the same afternoon we arrived in Phoenix based on the good reviews on TA, and found the park using our GPS. We parked the car and walked around.
We went inside a large building with a number of model trains exhibits, with many trains and model buildings and trees etc. It looked like a small city! A lot of work went into these exhibits. It was the largest model train exhibit I have ever seen, and it is run by volunteers.
We walked around the park a little, and then we left. it's a good place to come, there is lots of parking and it's free admission. There were many families with kids too.

This park was huge! We didn’t even visit all the railroad stuff - just the playground and the train ride and carousel ride which was plenty for our little kids. The playground itself is enormous with a snack area, seating for parents, and different playground equipment for different ages. The carousel ride and train ride were each only $2 and kids 2 and under are free! This would be a great park for birthday parties. I imagine this park could get pretty busy though on holidays or nice weekends.

Of the many parks we have in Scottsdale, any railroad buff will enjoy the Mccormick-Stillman Railroad Park. It has a building containing several local model railways that are quite well set up and displayed. There is an old Pullman car from the 1940's on display, which is a reminder of days gone by. And several other fine pieces of railroad equipment are on display. And for any children or grandchildren there is the miniature train that makes a loop all through the park. In these days of aviation being so dominant, children hardly realize the importance of real trains.Even us grown ups can enjoy the miniature train. The grounds are quite nice with lots of big trees and lawn, so during the cooler months it is a great place to come and enjoy an outdoor lunch.

Great place to take the kids for a few hours. Only $2 per person for a decent train ride. Lots of areas to walk around and burn some energy.

The lovely people of Scotsdale have a great and safe outside space for kids. Small kiddies rides. Perfect for picknicks. Free entrance.

I love the train and the concerts. Kids and adults can relax and have fun. Don’t miss this place especially in the cooler weather !

Learn about something new, by touring the smallish Museum, connected to Pullman cars, $2 each, FREE huge hall of miniature trains with environments... Many guage types. Snack shack has completely reasonable Hebrew hot dog meals, even with chili! Under $5 each. Has carousel for kids and you can ride mini train $2, about 10 minutes in length.

Free to park and enter, this park is great. Nominal fees to enter the small museum/historic train and ride on a couple small railroads. It is the perfect place for a weekend family trip and picnic. Plus there is a free model railroad building that is full of amazing displays. It was a fun way to spend an hour or two on a weekend morning.

This is an amazing family friendly park, and it is free!!! The mini train ride, & train layouts outstanding. Lunch was great too! Highly recommend!

The resort I stayed at was straight across from this park. It is mainly geared towards children but if you are ever in Scottsdale at around Christmas time, they have a very grandeur Christmas display. Off Christmas season, it is a very quiet park with a very exquisite train museum and it would be a great place for any Train enthusiast to go and see.

Our second annual trip to this park was an awesome success. Plenty of time riding the train, checking out the playgrounds, taking pictures and being silly. A number of us love trains so this is a natural spot for us.

The park and parking for the park are both free! Rides on the mini train or carousel are 2 dollars and kids under 3 ride free with paying adult. Train ride is long as these go and has lots of fun things to look it. There are also a few different play structures to keep your kids moving and get them tired out. Over we came back twice and had great fun each time. The museum is better for older kids in the age 6-young at heart range.

I thought this was going to be something big to see, but was mostly just a glorified group picnic spot and playground for young children. They have a carousel and small train ride that you have to buy tickets for. Train conductor lied to us about the time schedule, so that didn't sit well with me. Basically, he went whenever he pleased and didn't have a schedule. There are a few interesting exhibits. One of the biggest model train displays I've ever seen. The Presidential Pullman car was very interesting and worth seeing. You really only need an hour to see the place.
Overall, the place was running over with unruly children, so that detracted from the experience.

Visiting almost weekly, I can say this park is one of the best values in family activities in metro-Phoenix. The train and carousel are one ticket rides per person and the City sells six tickets for $10. The concession stand has kid meals including drink for $3-5 and the prices for ice cream and other snacks is very reasonable. We can easily spend three hours here visiting the train exhibit, riding around in the train and playing at the playground. They have free concerts in the park on Sunday evenings in the late spring to summer months along with family outings year round. It’s always clean from bathrooms to park... Kudos to City of Scottsdale for an A+ Park.

Nice city park, with a railroad theme. You can ride a kiddy train around the park. Kids will love it and you'll have a smile too. Plenty of shade and ramadas. Be aware that during the summer it gets HOT. No surprise right so go early and later in the evening but the train might not be running when late. Plenty of parking unless there is a free Sunday concert,(but COVID-19) has stopped that for now.

My kids loved this place. My husband and I enjoyed it too. Definitely the largest indoor train I have ever seen- so much detail and so many neat things to see on a miniature scale. There was also a train that went around outside, a playground and even an ice cream shop. Definitely don't miss this place!

This museum is very well put together. Nice place for families to visit, especially because there’s no admission fee and the train ride costs almost nothing, a great treat for the kids and children.

We had such a fun visit with our 1.5 year old. Tickets for rides were very reasonable (6 tickets for $10) and each ride is 1 ticket. Train ride was great and the playground was wonderful for all ages. The best part was the miniature train exhibit.

This park is a gem not to be missed. The area is beautifully laid out with a carousel and train ride only $2/pp each ride. The playground area is nicely done with plenty of space for kids to age of 12 to burn extra energy.
The museum ($2/pp) is a wonderful reminder of past history.an economical and fun way to spend an afternoon.

This is one of those city places every local knows about and either went to as a kid or takes their kid on weekends now.
The train ride, carousel and ice cream are fun afternoon activities when the weather is beautiful. Heading out here for the holiday lights is a tradition and a whole lot of fun for the kids.
I think 6-7 years old and younger (even infants) would have fun here. It’s very relaxed and easy going.
It can get crowded during the holidays because it’s such a local attraction so be aware if you are going in December. Also the train ride is slow and cute, not some Disney-esque event so don’t expect drops and high speed. Think of it more as an awesome public park with more than swings and slides and less as Six Flags.

One of a kind Railroad Park. Amazing old engines and cars one of which has some real history: "The Roald Amundsen Pullman Car was built in 1928 for $205,000. As one of the last cars built by the Pullman Company, the Roald Amundsen is best known for being used by every president from Herbert Hoover through Dwight Eisenhower. It was on this car in 1940 that President Franklin Roosevelt and Canadian Prime Minister W. L. McKenzie King signed the agreement that provided for the joint defense of North America, now known as NORAD. The car was donated to the park in 1971 by Mr. and Mrs. Franz Talley. The car has been placed on the National Historic Register"
30 acres of beautiful park, ice cream, carosel, and tons and tons of model trains. A real treat for all.

The railroad park has always been the best place to take kids. I took my own kids to the park and they always had a great time. Now that i am a grandfather a recently took my 2 year old grandson from California to the park. Wow did he have a fantastic time. He rode the "big train" and the "the little train" train around the park. Also rode the carasal and he enjoyed the museum with model trains. We packed a picknet lunch. It was a wonderful afternoon. If you are in Phoenix/Scottsdale with your kids you don't want to miss it.

Going to the McCormick Stillman Train Park is a wonderful family holiday tradition! All of the lights, the train ride, best hot chocolate, and even a visit with Santa!
The Train Park is fun to visit anytime, but we especially love it during the cool December evenings!

This park is really geared more for pre School to early elementary kids, but my almost teen really loved the model trains. Three huge sets in a covered building: HO, N, and O gauges. Very inexpensive, lots of room to run about, many families picnicking and having birthday parties.

We have been to this park for company picnics, birthday parties and just for fun. It's really great! There is so much to offer! My children love the train ride. I must say, on an Arizona winter day I love it too- especially with a warm cup of coffee. It's a very relaxing and fun ride. The carousel is fun as well and my kids think the playground equipment has a lot of variety.
I would advise that it's a BIG park and everything is spaced out. This is nice so it's not crowded BUT it can be difficult to keep tabs on young children (especially if your children are runners, ha!) We find we have to commit to one area for a time before moving on to the next.

The people were out there to see the holiday magic.. There were plenty to visitors but not overwhelmingly crowded as parking was still available. The park was decked out in a Chrismas theme, as decorated trees abounded and there were magical holiday scenes around the entire train route. Tickets for the train could be purchased for a particular time frame and I think that kept the crowd moving. The model train building was open and it was awesome to see these layouts for the many different gauges of trains. The little train routes were mesmerizing to adults and children alike. This is a wonderful park to visit any time of year.

The park is a great place to relax. It is also a wonderful place for children's parties. We have had several there. The railroad ride through the park is great fun. Check their calendar for special events and concerts. The Christmas lights were awesome.

Always a great time riding the train with a 3 year old.
Merry go round wasn't working which was a disappointment, but the play area was good

To seniors. Thoroughly enjoyed this park. Took a ride on the kitty train for three dollars each. Walked into the museum buildings. Especially enjoyed the original Pullman train that was used by four US presidents. Park staff are friendly and helpful.

Most of the attractions are free, the playground, the fields, the exhibits, the model trains (they will accept donations, but it's free too). A great place to Picnic, with the family, take the children to the park on a weekend or weekday if you're on vacation, or see a free Sunday Eve Concert in the park, check the website for Concert and other events. There are small charges for the miniature Train ride and the MerryGo Round. At Christmastime everyone will enjoy the free Holiday Lights and decorations; and In the summer there are water spouts at the play area for kids to keep cool. There's also an Ice Cream Shop for treats and Sodas, and a Gift store for reasonably priced toys and souvenirs.

My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the huge playground. We were disappointed the model train and other activities were closed for covid. The bathrooms by the playground were dirty but the ones near the shop weren't bad. All in all, good way to spend the afternoon!

OK for a one time visit. Nothing special other than the rail ride and few gazebos. Good for birthday parties for kids. The area is also smaller than other parks like Chaparral nearby.

What a wonderful place whether a kid, or kid-at-heart! We road the $2.00 train at sunset to enjoy the amazing Scottsdale beauty. Then waited for dark to see the incredible light display as you again ride through the park to view the amazing lights. Entrance to the park is free so take a picnic, ride the carrousel, and enjoy the day.
The Railroad Museum is a must for model train buffs. They have excellent displays and working model trains of every size. And the folk running the trains are happy to answer your questions. We absolutely loved this place!

The historic train car used in whistlestop campaigns is on display. You can walk through the car used by Presidents Hoover, Roosevelt, Truman, and Eisenhower. It is well-presented with photos from the era. Much of the park is otherwise on the kid level, but everyone will enjoy the building with model trains running through hundreds of miniature settings.

If you live in Scottsdale, you already know about the railroad park. If your visiting with kids, don't miss this jewel! Our town is so proud of this park! I think the train is now $2 or less and the same for the carrrousel. They have a great playground, food and the neatest miniature train setup--huge! Don't miss this. The kids will love it!

I used to go here as a kid and loved it. Now as an adult I still love it and so do my kids. The train is the best part but the whole park is alot of fun itself.

I think I read this was rated the #1 park in the country or something like that. Don't get me wrong, it was fun, but we have local parks in Raleigh, NC (Pullen Park) that are just as great, if not better-in my opinion. We went on a day when it had been raining and the park was deserted. When I purchased tickets for the train and carousel, the lady at the desk had to radio someone to come out and fire up the rides for us. Seriously, there was one family with mom, baby and toddler and another family with mom and dad, two teenage girls and grandparents and us. We rode the carousel by ourselves and it was fun. Then we rode the train with everyone else in attendance. They were setting up for Christmas, so I guess we got a sneak peak of what was to come. We went to the playground to play and it started raining again, so we ran to a shelter. We checked out the "old western town" in the rain and then hit the road. It was a fun afternoon.

This park is always great but it's magical when transformed for the winter holidays. There are two train rides around the Christmas lighted park available, one you pay for and the other smaller train ride is donation only. There is a snack bar and gift shop and the train museum is amazing! It's filled with running model trains of every size and there are stations where kids can push to start the different trains. There is also a merry-go-round and there are stand-ups for photo opportunities during the holidays. There are events year-round including movies in the park during the spring months and spooky train rides for Halloween.

We took my son here for his birthday. He loved viewing the train history and riding the train in the park. The facility has a great playground as well and washrooms. We had a ton of fun here!

When looking at their website before visiting we were confused about price etc. The park is free to enter and parking is free. The large scale railroad display is free. If you are a model railroad buff it is well worth it. To ride their train, view the display cars or carousel requires a ticket. Tickets are $10 for 6 tickets. The train ride is worth it. The general store is not a recreation of a period store but a typical tourist trap. The display of Pullman cars is great. Put yourself in the 30's or 40's and visualize travel in style. We brought our gloves and the grandsons played catch in the large park area.

If you are visiting and your kids like train rides, buy the all day pass for them so that they can take as many train and carousel rides as they want. There if playground, sand and grass area which is free of cost. Food is available inside.
The ramadas are available for booking but there are some available on first come first serve basis as well. Take a picnic with you. Not recommended in hot Arizona months but this is a good outdoor place for kids.

A nice place to wonder around, it has the most amazing model railway exhibition (free) that you could spend a long time looking round because there is so much going on. Go on the little train whatever your age, its a joy

Large park kids love it, miniature train ride, great location, large parking. More than your local play ground.

My 4.5 year old daughter adored this gem of a park, complete with a playground, carousel, model train museum, and a ride on a small train. The park is perfectly set up for ages 6 and under, who will love the place.

This was such a fun park to visit as a family (with a seven-year old girl)! We rode the train together and took turns on the caroussel. Lots of picture oppties. Just an entertaining place to relax and spend some time ... especially if you love trains!

We went to see the "Holiday Lights" displays from a front row seat on the miniature steam locomotive driven train. It was a chilly evening but we dressed warm and arrived early having registered for "Fast Passes" on-line earlier in the day. We boarded at 6:30 and took this wonderful ride through some magnificent holiday light displays. Our train engineer was very accommodating showing us the locomotive's power plant, even opening the door to the "fire below". After touring this park earlier in the day we knew this ride would be well worth coming back for. During our earlier visit we walked through history touring old rail cars and reading about the times during the birth of railroading in the west. The on-site museum is VERY interesting as well as the operating displays of four different model railroad gauge trains set up inside a very large building. All-in-all it was an enjoyable visit... and the ice cream at the railroad station is delicious too!

Wife and I dropped by. We love railroad "stuff" and were not disappointed. First, this is a great place to simply take a picnic. Lots of great grass, shade trees, a carousel, etc. There is no admission fee--but it costs $2 to ride the train or carousel or go into the train. GREAT BARGAIN! The train itself is wonderful--Pullman was well restored. ALSO, don't miss the MODEL RAILROAD setup--absolutely incredible.

We had an amazing time at the park, there's lots to do for everyone! Playground for kids of all ages. Lots of space to run around and different areas to enjoy. There's a little western village for kids to play in, the train ride and merry go round as well as a model train museum. We rode the train around the park twice, everyone seemed to love it! It's affordable fun for only $2. Washrooms are clean and the park is well maintained. Lots of parking available.

There is a HUGE miniature railroad filling an entire building and also a park with rides. Come at Christmas for the lights, the train rides and bring your camera!

My wife and I go to the park a couple of times each year. We love to see the train layouts. There are three of them, HO, N and I think O or G gauge. It is best to go on the weekend because there are usually more trains running. There is no entrance fee but they do have donation jugs if you want to. Great way to spend an hour or more.

If you like railroads and model trains, you will like this park. There's an amazing train layout, with O, H, N and Z models. There is a carousel and a small train that children can ride. The park itself is free, and there's a small fee for the rides. There are interesting exhibits about the history of railroads in Arizona. Fun for children and adults!

Good for birthday parties. And fun to just spend some time, and go on the little train. Kids love it. Well located on Scottsdale Rd and Indian Bend.
See the Pullman car that FDR and Ike once used
My wife and I never get tired of visiting old-time attractions such as antebellum homes, cemeteries, art galleries, museums and aircraft and railroad parks. Like the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park in Scottsdale, Arizona. Located at 7301 East Indian Bend Road, this 40-acre railroad park features a 15-inch gauge railroad, a 1907 Magma Arizona Railroad locomotive, a railroad museum, three model railroad clubs, a 7.5-inch gauge live steam railroad and a 1928 Roald Amundsen Pullman Car that cost $205,000 and once was used by Presidents Herbert Hoover, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower. In fact, Eisenhower used the car exclusively during his famous whistle-stop campaign in 1952. Opened in 1975, the park also features three railroad depots--built in Peoria in 1895, in Aguila in 1907 and Maricopa in the 1930s--that were dismantled and moved to the Scottsdale site. See the Walter "Gabe" Brooks Machine Shop, which was built in 1930 and was Scottsdale's first machine shop. Also the Paradise and Pacific Railroad dining car, the 1950 Charro Carousel or merry-go-round, the 1944 Swiss Railway Clock, two of only three Indian hogans that exist off the Northern Arizona Navajo Indian Reservation and a 1949 box car, an antique railroad bell, even a desert arboretum that has been growing since 1980. If the children get bored, there are two playgrounds, one of which is Southwestern-themed with adobe construction.
