Hidden gem! Who would have thought?

By Paul J |

I have lived here for many years and only discovered this park a few years ago! It is private, it has a farm house and they do tours and it is awesome that it is tucked away near Gwinnett Place Mall, where you would not know it exists, but it does!

Excellent way to see what homes and equipment small farmers had in the 1930's

By Tim T |

My wife and I were looking for a good photo op for a photography outing. This former cotton farm fits the bill just fine. It depicts a medium size farm designed as a "subsistence farm". The farmer grew just enough food to feed their family. Includes a nice farmhouse, barn, carriage house, tenant house, vegetable/flower garden (with butterflys), and various farm equipment. There are plenty of flowers, buildings, and farm equipment to provide subjects for photos. In addition there are 2.5 miles of paved walking trails.

Come out and spend a few hours. Just be sure to check the website for the hours. Trails are open dawn to dusk every day, but the buildings and garden are open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm and it's free. That means the gate is open and you can look around and take pictures but the buildings and garden are locked. Check the GwinnettEHC.org website to find out when special events occur. These events are scheduled and there is a per person fee. There are personnel on site and buildings are open so you get the full effect. Next event is Sept. 26th 10-1. $15 & preregister.

I love the park. I always go for a run and my husband and I always bring our puppy to the dog park. However today I had to leave from the dog park because someone had a big size dog in the little dog area. I had just arrived and the dog literally flipped my puppy and every time my doggy would run with other small dogs . This dog would chase it and bite at his tail to the point of cornering him. My puppy started getting scared and I had to leave. It had not even been 3 min. The owner would just call for his dog but thought it was funny. I just want to know if it can be implemented for owners to make sure they have their big dogs in the big dog area. I was not with my husband and didn’t know what else to do but to leave . I did not want to wait for my dog to get hurt or for that dog to bite him.

Lovely Historic Farm, Park and Trails

By Michael Z |

Our favorite place to go for walking, and we go 2-3 times a week. A lovely historic farm with paved and soft walking/biking trails, that wind over and through fields, hills streams and forests. The farmhouse/barn/blacksmith shop and vegetable garden at the upper loop are all well maintained. the lower loop has forests, streams and fields. The upper and lower loops are connected by both paved and soft trails down a moderately a steep hill.

in both the upper and lower loop trails there are lots of picnic spots with tables and trash bins. Also on the upper loop there is a large covered pavilion with charcoal grills.

Excellent wildlife viewing with abundant deer, birds, and other critters. Pets are welcome but you must leash and clean-up after them.

No camping! trail hours are sunrise to sunset. The historic farm is open Monday-Saturday for tours and demonstrations.

Lovely, uncrowded park in Duluth

By chef-atl |

Went there to take advantage of their dog park which was magnificent. But the park is huge and has many attractions such as walking trails, historical buildings and group use facilities.

Nice escape from the hustle and bustle of the city

By mvmaithai |

After a buffet lunch at the Korean BBQ place Cho Won, we wanted to walk off the calories, and this park is close by. Three miles of paved and unpaved trails wind around a 134-acre park with shady trees and streams. It used to be an old cotton farm, complete with a farmhouse that is opened for tours. Interesting history for kids and adults alike.

Love the park!

By Sumanth93 |

One of the best parks in the neighborhood, great place for kids and family! This park also has dog parks for both small and big dogs. And the best part, there is a very high probability to encounter deers! Must visit

Great walking trails!

By jgwisdom |

Wonderful park that is not known by most. Beautiful walking trails along with the historical story about early life in Gwinnett County.

Both Educational And Fun

By Dan |

My wife and I took our four year old Granddaughter to the park today. We took her to the farm located at 3251 McDaniel Road (South Entrance). Restored to replicate a typical 1930's farm in Gwinnett County, McDaniel Farm was an educational and fun experience for her. She was fascinated with the Farmhouse as well as the Barn, Blacksmith shed, Carriage house, and the Tenant house. She also loved the vegetable and flower garden. It was a learning experience for all of us. Highly recommend.
FYI...The entire park is comprised of over 130 areas and has two separate entrances. The two areas are connected by three miles of paved multi-purpose and soft surface trails. Trails are open daily sunrise to sunset. Farmhouse is open 10:00am-4:00pm. Restrooms available; Plenty of parking.

Beautiful

Nice trails and a bit of history there for the kids as well! Great for a week-end/weekday stroll.. (FYI.. The historical side is closed on Sundays)

Very nice place

By Michelle P |

Great walking paths, mostly shaded. Historic farm, interesting family story. There are pavilions and grills.

Solo walking and felt safe

By Helen B |

Decided to head out for a walk on a beautiful Spring Day. Was excited to discover more trails than what meets the eye. Great scenery, many people enjoying the day and historical buildings on sight to continue the interests to return and discovery new things to see. I ventured out alone not sure it was the best idea, but it's a local favorite and perfect.

Family Photos

By Kim T |

We had family photos done here in the Fall. The park is beautiful with some great areas and props for fabulous photos!

A good place to walk around

By Hothunny |

This is a good park to walk around in if you like to walk. It's not a good place for families. There is no playground. If you want to walk the trails, it's a decent place to go. They are stone. It's not a place to go for a view. I would not recommed going when it's hot outside.

Great Park! Loved the trails.

By AmberBelle |

What a wonderful nature escape in the city! The trails are so well maintained (sad that the trails to the playground were closed for maintenance but I totally understand). Could spend all day here. We walked about 3 miles of trails before the kids got tired. Lots of places to bring a picnic lunch or relax. All the swings that were set up along the paved trails were awesome little stops if a break was needed. Loved the sound of moving water along many of the trails. So peaceful and relaxing!! Definitely will be back when back in the area.

A little calm

By Mary Jo G |

This park is a surprising little gem of peace and calm in the Gwinnett mall area. Great walking and beautiful garden.

Great walking trails.

By nicolediane |

The county purchased this old farm and property from the McDaniel family. It is a great spot surrounded by commercial development. Once you get in the park you can really get away from it all. There is an old farm house and some out buildings. Certain days of the week you can get in the house. The best part of the park though are the paved trails. It is pretty year round. There is a stream going through. There is an unpaved trail that is nice. It is beautiful in every season. Sometimes you can spot some dear. There are restrooms by the parking lot and a covered large picnic spot that can be rented. They are going to put in another entrance soon. There are some benches and a few tables scattered about. There is no playground or any ball fields. It is a good spot for walking the dog. It is a little hilly for kids riding bikes.

Lost in time

By antgemini1970 |

Not to many people now about this park but it reminds me of an old episode of Little House on the Prairie. The old farm house on the ground make you feel like you've taken s country vacation right in the middle of all the Suburban sprawl .

Beautiful park that showcases the past

By kurokitty |

Came by the park for a stroller run. The paths were nice and wide, a little hilly in areas. Lots of people out walking and some more tending a local garden on site.

There are lots of great buildings from the past, including a small blacksmith shop. Parking is good, there is no fee to enter and the bathroom facilities are clean and modern.

Beautiful park in Duluth near Gwinnett Place Mall

By nickikim07 |

A few of my friends have gotten their photographs done there and they turned out gorgeous. It peaked my interest to check it out since it's been a while. I was impressed with how beautiful the park is and the nice pavements to walk. I can tell that it will be expanded even more.

I love the two areas where the bridges are...soooo pretty! I love taking pics there. I never realized how beautiful this park is and you would never know it's located in the busy part of Duluth near Gwinnet Place Mall. It's definitely a hidden gem, tucked away off Old Norcross Road.

During the 2.5 walk on the trail, I spotted a baby deer. What was cool was it wasn't even scared. It kept eating and staring at us. I was able to get a picture too. I didn't want to scare it by going even closer.

Overall, amazing trail. I must come back, more!

Great place for walks

By Stacy B |

This is a nice local park, with some historic significance and a local community farm. Nice quiet walks or bike rides with lots of shade in hot summer months.

Lots of great walking trails

By Luckys_Charm |

Not uncommon to see herds of deer just walk by. Great for catching Pokémon, of geocaching. Well maintained, with light historical interest.

Hidden Gem

Take you love one or your pets!
Such a great walk. You have the option to walk in the wood or on a paved road. Love it here!

McDaniel Farm

By Susie L |

I loved it. Have been meaning to check out this farm for years and finally did it. The trails were awesome. Loved the history of farm. Have been back quite a few times

Beautiful Park

By BandB-Lovers_45-yrs |

Early Spring and most trees were just coming out. There was fee for the farm which didn't seem to be fully developed.
The hiking trails looked inviting, especially the wildflower point.

Great walking trails and dog area

By VJH95 |

The park is only about 20 minute drive from our house. We really enjoy coming out here to either enjoy a picnic or a walk (or both). They recently constructed a dog area which is a great place to let our dog off the leash to run around. The hiking trails are great and most of them shaded. As part of the Gwinnett county park system, there is no entry or parking charge. It's a great place to relax and exercise.

Hidden Gem

By khnolegirl |

We had some time to kill and decided to check out this park. The area is beautiful and the historic buildings were nice to view as well. It's a nice place to take a walk and unwind.

Nice, picturesque park

By JCR |

I love that this park is the local "hidden gem." It has so many wonderful backdrops for pictures and is relatively quiet. I will have to say, though, that if you come on a weekend, be prepared to be outnumbered by photographers (for the reasons listed previously) and their clients.

The park is big...I have not walked the entire park as I've always had my 5-yr old with me. There is a lot to see, especially for a park that is nestled in an Atlanta suburb.

Photo Shoot

By emelindagruta |

The place is not huge but beautiful. It looks rustic and old farm setting. The stream is also beautiful, clean & clear water. It is a good place to do photo shoorts for wedding, birthdays and other events. We own a photography business and we came here to shoot for the 18th birthday of a client. The nature background is overwhelmingly beautiful. The pictures all came out great!

a very nice place to walk

By cheryl h |

Even if you aren't interested in seeing the restored 1930s farm and out buildings, this is a very nice place to just walk (I found it to be a very easy walk). It covers 135 acres with wide, easy to walk paved paths and non paved trails. The property was once a cotton farm.

It was a nice January day and we had a great walk while checking all the farm buildings. Someone was also having wedding pictures taken while we were there. If you are in the area you really should check the park out (bring a picnic lunch too).

Beautiful Park

By bhlraven1916 |

Park situated on a 1930s-era cotton farm with historic structures & equipment amid multiuse trails. A lot of great views. Only 3 miles along the trails. Beautiful park. A lot of running water.

Great nature in the middle of Gwinnett county

By jkrenehan26 |

I love the walking trails. They have great playground and places to picnic. The farm is a fun place for kids.

This is interesting and fun for adults and kids.

Good place to walk

By nowincolorado |

We visited in December and the weather was mild enough to enjoy a walk through this park. The paths are wide and paved. They an old farm building here. We walked all the way down to the creek. Nice and quiet area. Located in the suburbs of Atlanta, GA

Family pictures

By Jenny M |

We had taken family pictures here several years ago. We went back and it did not disappoint. It’s well- maintained and has several great backdrops for photos. There were several other groups there taking pictures, but most people were polite and quickly allowed others to have a venue for their picture.

A beautiful place for an outdoor wedding.

By Ladyoni |

We hosted our daughter's wedding here last May and it was just what she'd hoped for to have her outdoor wedding. There's a very large covered pavilion for receptions. A very large porch with swing, barn and a very romantic bridge that's perfect for pictures.
It's country chic and beautiful here.

Great stop on road trip

By napagirl |

We identified this as a good spot to break up a long drive and we were not disappointed. In about 90 min we did a wonderful long walk with varied scenery (old buildings, woods, creek, meadow). The playground is wonderful (farm themed). Our kids loved it but my only comment is that many of the surfaces of play equipment were painfully hot in the ATL summer sun. For example there is a metal tractor to play on but seriously: metal?! It's a kind of playground safe material so it's not going to burn anyone but regardless it's not fun to play on. Also I wish they would install some of those huge playground sunshades because there is no shade whatsoever there. Agree with others who called this a "hidden gem" and it's right off the interstate by only about 10 min.

Love This Place, BUT...

By Tanya D |

This is one BEAUTIFUL and serene place to visit. Just be careful where you step and the time of year you visit. This place has snakes-a-plenty. Been here 5 times to walk my dog and to be 'one with nature' and out of those 5 times, walked up on 3 snakes-two were copperheads. Don't you DARE let your pet off leash-keep a tight reign on Fido! Nope, it's beautiful, but for someone with a fear of snakes, I cannot bring myself to go back...perhaps Fall and Winter seasons would be best!

Great place - beautiful and picturesque

By Paula9122008 |

There are walking trails, paved, for people at all levels of age and fitness. Very nice park areas to bring a lunch to enjoy along with creekbank. There is an old farmhouse, slaves quarters with outhouse (said to be the last standing structure of this kind in the United States

Perfect in the summer heat!

By kiwisteph04 |

I can't believe we just found this park after living in the area for seven years! I love that it has so many trees, and there are always people around. Even in the summer heat, it is a great place to walk the dog, or just hang out with the family.

Sunday Morning Walk

By Thomas L |

Staying for the weekend in Duluth with my fiance and we found the McDaniel Farm park as a nice place to take a walk. It was very pleasant, great weather helped but nice trails and wonderful time.

Hidden gem

By Tim F |

Great little park with nice walking paths and beautiful views. Tucked away from the hussle of the Gwinnett area around it you really feel as if you stepped away to another land.

Beautiful Nature Wedding Venue

By MommaGiiGii |

My cousin chose McDaniel Farm Park as her wedding venue. It was such a gorgeous place to have a wedding. The grounds are well kept and the pavilion was more than accommodating for the intimate setting. We were actually there the end of May 2015. This is a lovely place to take the children to set them free to be kids. Enjoy!

History old time living!

By Gvnl780 |

An interesting historical site. Very cultural and informative. Long walkways criss crossing. You see barns, fields and creeks. Old farming equipment and all in the middle of the city! overall peaceful and interesting.

Nice Park with a Trail and Other Amenities

By BelindaJ770 |

We spent about two hours at the park. There is a trail about three miles long and while parts of it can be steep, most of it is shaded, which is nice in the summer. The park itself has a playground that is farm-themed. There is also two dogs parks; they are located next to each other, but one is for small dogs and the other is for big dogs.

On the day that we were there, there was a film crew there and we got to see how they use the farmhouse and older buildings as a backdrop for their historical film.

If you are meeting someone at the park, be sure to note that there are two separate entrances. There is plenty of paved parking. Restrooms were surprisingly clean.

Louise would be proud

By jackie m |

I knew Louise McDaniel. After her death, she willed her family farm to be used as a park. Its a wonderful place to walk with several walking trails. Some are shorter for beginning walkers. Plus children will enjoy seeing the old farm buildings.
We love walking there.

Lovely peaceful park

By Vanesa V |

This is one of my favorite parks. The trails are nice and paved, which my dog prefers. It has a nice loop of an old farm that's beautiful. I've seen lots of people do engagement photos here. Lovely park. Recommended to everyone!

Great place to walk

By GaTraveler7011 |

This is a great place for midday or early morning walks. Paved paths wander thru woods and fields. Some organized demonstrations of farming technique events, and original farm site, etc. School groups also present.

wish the walk was longer but good hills.

By Eco-Adventure-traveler |

perfect for kids and adults. next to a wonderful park... chocolate and pie place. you will enjoy your visit to duluth.

Lots of interesting history here.

By Donna C |

I love the nostalgic charm of the old days and this place is like a walk through time. The old farm buildings and multi use trails are very good.

Picnic At The Farm

By Dan |

My wife and I were recently in Duluth and visited McDaniel Farm Park (East) for the first time. This side of the park is located at 3020 McDaniel Road (There is also a second South entrance where the historic farm is located). This beautiful
community park covers 134 acres. It was a sunny day and we spent over two hours enjoying the park. Had a picnic lunch and then walked the calories off along the scenic trail. Along the route you will find a stream plus plenty of park benches and swings to rest, relax and enjoy nature. There are also picnic tables along the trail route. If you love the sights and sounds of lots of different birds, you will love this trail. Park features:
1-Three miles of paved and non paved trails (dog friendly-Must be on a leash) with connectivity to the historic side of the park
2-Farm themed playground for the Kids
3-Rustic Pavilion with picnic tables & grills; restrooms near by
4-A large multi-purpose kids play area
5-Two dog parks; one for dogs 20 lbs. and under, and one for dogs over 20 lbs.
This park is very clean and well maintained. We had a fun day and will return. Plenty of parking; Open daily sunrise to sunset.

Lovely and educational walk

By dabella2015 |

Spent like an hour and a half here, walked almost three miles. Lovely creek and trees. The farm part is lovely, great to learn about the farmer’s life in that era.

Southern ComIn the bustling streets of pleasant Hill and satellite it's easy to forget thafort Escape From Pleasant Hill

By Sandy J |

In the bustling streets of pleasant Hill and satellite it's easy to forget that there's a neat little rural pocket of sweet southern comfort tucked behind car dealerships. Ironically this is an old cotton farm that still maintains clapboard houses and wells and barns. So if you want to truly experience the diversity of Duluth, it's not hard to go Asia hopping on Pleasant Hill and then suddenly escape to southern charm right across the street from Great wall Supermarket.

You can come here alone just to have solace-- it's fall time so you can feel that fall time crisp harvest feel when you walk around. you can come to exercise here- the trails looks gorgeous and well run on and safe. I've seen families come and have picnics and groups of Korean old ladies picking walnuts or pecans from the trees. I am not sure if it's buggy in the summer but it didn't feel buggy and swampy. Definitely bring your allergies meds in the spring when you come- the grass pollen will definitely knock your socks off. Great place also for portratis and modeling photo shoots.

I love that i felt I had left Atlanta for a while and had entered into another place in time. It's a good nature trail for those who enjoy hikes and walks and nature. IT's a farm so it's great for educational purposes to see heritage nuts and trees. I heard there's even educational tours given about the farm houses and the gardens!

Not too busy generally; mostly an older crowd of people who mind their own business and stroll around. Parking looks like it can be a problem if you're going to have a huge celebration here. The park is very clean and well maintained. no pollution or littering so I'm glad people respect its grounds

Hidden Gem

By TrentsterGa |

Found this park by chance and walked away amazed. Miles of paved trails and beautiful landscape. There is a great playground for kids themed to a barn as well as the heritage farm with tons of history kiosks. I highly suggest coming here in the spring and fall for a nice cool walk with family and friends.

Nice Gwinnett County Park with some bonuses.

By Wahoo73 |

My wife, our dog and I have visited the park many times in the past ten years. With an expansion and renovation project completed last year, it now has additional walking trails, children’s playground and dog park. This is in addition to the farm buildings and area which is a favorite place to take our grandchildren.
