A great place to go when it's raining. The aquariums and terrarium were the best part. It is kind of small, but it's really nice and fun.

We visit here regularly. The new exhibit is really interesting! It's definitely more educational than things "to do". My older child (8) enjoyed it more than my six year old. Staff are friendly and welcoming.

We went here because it was raining and we needed to find something indoors. We liked this place a lot. For an out of state visitor it was nice to see that they had mostly animals from the area. So it was really educational.
This is not a very big place, but a decent size and really worth every dollar.

The grandkids love it!!! One of them calls it the dinosaur museum.

Ended up here by taking a stroll down the purple trail in Lefleurs bluff State Park and was excited to find it was free to visit. There was a two headed snake, a dude dressed in a very impressive Velociraptor costume and another dude leading him around for photo ops by a leash. Very fun indeed, I only regret not asking where they got that costume, Halloween is right around the corner. This place Dinosaur Fossils, Antiques, Educational Video Games, a Gift Shop, Bird, and other animal exhibits, a Large Snapping Turtle, Huge fresh water fish and alligators. I had so much fun here and will be back when I am in the area. I highly recommend this Museum.

I have been here so many times with my family, I can't count them all. We love it. It's has some great exhibits. The walking trail in the back is terrific!

The natural science museum is "new." It is a wonderous place for all expecially children to experience Mississippi nature and science.

This museum has some neat features-the bird watching plate glass window with binoculars, the dinosaur game room, a pre-school room (that's very small) for kids under 5, and a lot of information.
But, this museum could be GREAT if they created some more interactive learning experiences and decreased the creepy taxidermy (which there is a plethora of)
My other plea is to please invest in improving the habitats for the live animals you have in residence. While important for educating those who aren't romping around the bayou, all of the animals had mighty cramped and old quarters, particularly the alligators and the 2 headed snake. Some signs to not disturb them by banging on the glass (which annoys me to no end) might also be warranted...
My last remark. We went into the gift shop, staffed by one person. I greeted him, no response. When I tried again, he acknowledged he was "okay but really tired" and "couldn't wait to finish my day." He asked if I needed help, I said "yes please." He didn't move off of his chair. I explained further I wanted to purchase a necklace in the case for my granddaughter. Moving in slow motion, he arrived. Had to request a box. Maybe just an off day.
NOTE: we took a 7 and 9 year old
They were not dazzled, but it was a good way to spend a couple of hours

My grandchildren love coming here. The exhibits are interesting & a learning experience. When you've seen everything inside - go outside & walk the trails. Watch for different special exhibits during the year. There's a gift shop for getting a memento.

Very interesting. Had no idea all the artifacts, animals, and birds that were around Mississippi. A must see! Loved it!

I have been taking my children here for past few years. We all enjoy it. They always have great, learning exhibits going on.

Our favorite parts of the MS Museum of Natural Science are the aquariums and bird displays downstairs. If the weather is pretty, the trails are very nice and a great way to enjoy a nice day while getting a little exercise.

Visiting from out of town with my nine year old grandson. We found this museum on facebook and decided to tour it. Excellent museum with a diverse group of exhibits. the live exhibits are nice, the animals and information about them are interesting. A lot of information about the State of Mississippi. We all really enjoyed our visit to the museum.

I needed to kill a few hours by myself one afternoon in Jackson and happened on this gem. There was much to see and much to learn. Exhibits were interesting and varied. I would have appreciated clearer labelling/identification of items and species in exhibits that contained many elements.

I had heard about this from some friends, so I decided to give it a try. Well it was great! I'm a history channel out door person anyway. The stuff they have in there is out of this world. I felt like a little kid in the place. It's a great place to take the kids, but becareful withbthe kids. The have some scary stuff in there as well. I spent a lot of time around the snakes, frogs and spiders. Fun, fun, fun...

This is a Great place to learn more about Mississippi enviorment. Beautifully done. There is great walking trails behind the museum. I also enjoyed the large fishtanks. Great place to bring kids or adults.

This something that adults and children can enjoy together. They have people that can answer the kids questions and lots of Mississippi items to look at that will hold the interest of children as well as adults. Good places to bring lunch and eat outside before or after you visit. Exhibts are changed around during the year so you can visit it several times a year.

I visited the museum with my son and grandson (almost 2). The collection is housed in a beautiful building with glass covering almost all of one side. It's on a lovely property with lots of walking trails. The staff was courteous, pleasant and helpful. We went on a Monday and had almost the entire building to ourselves. My grandson was most interested in the huge fish tanks and the preschool area. It's reasonably priced as well. What's not to like? I'd like to go back again when I can take the time to look at all the exhibits.

Very informative museum. The static displays are well laid out with plenty of annotation. The aquarium and terrarium sections are well presented with good information on local ecology. Outside areas have bird spotting info, and walks.

The museum has several fascinating exhibits. I most enjoyed the ones highlighting species native to Mississippi. Also, there are terrific nature trails that go back to the Pearl River, including a bridge over Eubanks Creek.

Very educational day trip! There is a science museum with hiking trails. The museum is great with the standard offerings of skeletal remains, reconstructed animals from different time periods, insect collections, fish tanks etc. It's fine very well. They also usually have some sort of special limited time exhibit. Titaniboa was there when we visited. It was okay. The snake was really huge, but there wasn't much in that part of the exhibit that interested my 4 year old. She was much more interested in the skeletal remains and aquariums.
The trails are mostly maintained if you stay near the museum. The further out you get, the less maintenance they receive. I definitely held my daughter's hand on the trails. There were sections of the trail with little or no hand rails between the loose gravel path and a very steep drop down the side of the hill. I think next time I'd choose to keep our walk on the paths very close to the museum. They were a mix of board walks and loose gravel paths that seemed much better suited for a young child.
There is also an expansive playground in a castle theme. It's wonderful and has lots of shade! Also, there are many picnic areas around the grounds.
So much fun!

This is the perfect sized museum for families with young children, or people with short attention spans. There were just enough interesting exhibits to keep everyone's attention–as opposed to larger museums that can leave you feeling overwhelmed. The staff was friendly and helpful. The gift shop was small, but well stocked–the little ice cream cups for $1.00 made a nice, reasonably priced treat.
The playground just outside the museum gates was one of the best we have ever seen. It was an enormous wooden structure that had too many play features to list! Restrooms and water fountains were adjacent–open and clean.

It's a nice place to stop and look around. Some really unique animals and exhibits. My 3 and 6 year old loved it. My husband and I found it very informative. I would recommend you stop by and walk around. The out door trails and really nice too.

The exhibits that they bring here are outstanding and well worth the trip. Excellent staff and facility!

We went with a group to see the baby dinosaur exhibit and it was excellent. We love the permanent exhibits as well. They have a huge collection of fossils and dinosaur bones from the state. They also have living exhibits with frogs, turtles, fish and even snakes! (kids favorite) They have a lot of taxidermy so you can see local wildlife that can't be kept in captivity including native birds. The best exhibit is the newer one that includes LIVE alligators. They do demos as well with special events. A great way to spend the afternoon especially on a rainy day. The nature trail is also a good way to spend some time.

This place was amazing it was just pure beautiful and I liked seeing all the animals statues, the snakes, even the fish. I would recommend bringing your kids here.

I’ve been here multiple times. There is always something new and exciting to see! I recommend doing the nature walk path to the park during the springtime. It is beautiful!

I went this past fall with my mother and my six-year-old son. We really enjoyed it. It was very educational and fun.

I went with my boyfriend and sister. We all had fun. The exhibits were interactive and we all had heart attacks in the animals exhibits. They had list of fears and rate computers. The fish exhibits was alsowonderful. We all love learning so it was great.

My kids fought coming to the museum.... And then I couldn’t get them out!
They started noticing some of the topics discussed in their science classes at school. The museum made it live and exciting. Seeing was believing!

We made a special trip to see the Neuberger modern art exhibit and very much enjoyed it. I would recommend visiting before it closes this fall.

I took my grandma here the last time she was in town and she loved it as well, great exhibits, very informative and helpful employees. This is a must do if you visit Jackson.

My son loves the dinosaur exhibit and got to watch the feeding of the two-headed snake. He loves to come here.

Stopped by here in Jackson lots of interesting things to see, some interactive exhibits. Check the website for activities they do. Lots of aquariums. Great walking trail so wear the appropriate shoes! Great fossils exhibits. Lots of turtles in the aquariums. Great place to observe birds. Nice place, affordable. Would definitely recommend stoppwby here

Great place to take the children for a fun day anytime. Close to the children's museum also. Exhibits vary so check the website or the current one.

The museum may be a surprising activity for you, but it is definitely worth considering if you'd like to stretch your time and activities in Jackson.

I may be prejudiced because I live in Jackson but we have visited this museum many times and it's always a pleasure. The exhibits change often and there is always something new to see.

museum is very well done. Many visuals for those who aren't interested in reading, but enough details for those to learn more if desired. Live animals and dioramas. The largest rattlesnake I ever want to see! Great walking path to experience the ecology. We enjoyed our visit and highly recommend visiting.

This museum was a great couple of hours for me and my 12 yr old son. The aquarium part was bigger than expected, and we enjoyed the nature trails.

Wasn't sure what to expect, but I was blown away! The museum focuses on Mississippi Natural History, but it has plenty to show and tell. I was fascinated by the variety of fossils discovered throughout the state, and to see the wildlife exhibits. My absolute favorite area were the live animal exhibits. The baby turtles were adorable, the snakes were hypnotizing, and the fishes were awesome! So glad I had the chance to go, and sorry I couldn't spend more time. Can't recommend enough!

My two girl are enjoy here pretty much but my personal level the museum needed to update it so kids can learn more because I have bring my kids here in the pass 6 year everything in here is torn up and broken .

The adults and children (12, 9, 8 and 6 years old) in our group all enjoyed this museum. There was plenty of variety (from rainforests to aquariums to fossils and hiking)!

Museum has great exhibits real creative showings of nature, stuffed birds and paleontology nice nature trails spent about 3 hours

I’ve been to bigger and better Natural History Museums in the USA but this is ok given the Aquarium and current Dinosaur exhibit. I’m sure kids will love it!

I took my four kids to this museum. They loved it. They also have a walking path outside, they really enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend this museum. We didn't go to the Children's Museum that is right next door ,because it was so expensive. This museum was a great value. I'm not sure what the price was , but the Children's Museum was $20.00 a child . I thought was outrageous !! It's to bad it's not priced for all children to go . So if I were you I would go to the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science . It was great!!

You and your whole family will love this place! My daughter begs to go. We only live about 20 minutes away so we go often. No negatives!

My family usually takes a visit here once a year and we've never been disappointed.
The museum is usually broken down into three areas: Featured exhibits (currently dinosaurs but switching to rainforests sometime in late January), Mississippi wildlife and flora (fish, snakes, stuffed animals, trees, etc.), and nature trails.
The family favorites are the aquariums.
Yes, there are better museums out there but they have much larger budgets.
It'll take a normal person 30 minutes to less than an hour to see everything. Longer if you have kids.
Family of four costed us $20.00

We stopped at this museum while traveling through Mississippi with my 6 and 2 year old. Lots of plants and animals to look at and dinosaurs! Very cool and well put together, also a lot of nice outdoor space.

We all lived this place. Great for all ages. Plenty to do for 2 or 3 hours. Lots of dinosaurs and Mississippi information! I would visit again.

We love going here, they have different activites and events here. Like one time we went to a Bat exhibit they had it was very interesting there was a guy there talking about the bats and we got to see one of the largest bats there is up close and personal. Several fish displays a nice walking trail. And the best part is the price very reasonable so the whole family can go without breaking the bank. Check it out you won't be disappointed.

And I've visited many Science museums over a lifetime and this is excellent. Beautiful exhibits and an outdoor trail. Active and interactive things to do. Would be great for kids.

This place was smaller that it appeared from the outside. Very little to do or look at. Prices are low which is equal to the quality of the museum.

I love this place, there is a big plaza outside and inside the museum is super cool, I’ll be back soon

Great place to bring the kids to learn all about the different wildlife, insects and fish in Mississippi. They also have some great walking trails to enjoy the outdoors. The Mississippi Children's Museum is located within walking distance as well as a large playground. The kids will not want to leave!

We were only in Jackson for a day, and we heard that this place was thebomb.com so we went. It was seriously awesome. There was a trained guy there who held snakes and was teaching the kids all about snake life in Louisiana. Also, the outdoor park and walking trail area was very beautiful, and is great for any age person. Our group had three teenagers, and they enjoyed themselves very much. You dont need much time to see it all, maybe just an hour, but it's a nice place to visit.

We go to the museum regularly to have a date day. Never disappointed. Lots to look at. The trails behind the museum are also fun. Don't let the word museum fool you!

I wasn’t expecting much from a smaller museum, but ended up having a great time. After enjoying the exhibits, there are hiking trails from easy to challenging.

We made a point to go on a midpoint stop to Florida. Younger child in the dinosaur stage. We had the added benefit of being there for traveling egg exhibit. Also, local fossil hunters were there with materials, pictures, information. I highly recommend.Definitely also be a great activity for a rainy day.

Fun, inexpensive, good price for an afternoon with grandkids. There were a lot of interactive displays and everyone enjoyed the aquariums.

We went to Jackson for a wedding and had a few hours of down time. We hear this museum was celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday. As a kindergarten teacher and mommy, I loved that! They had amazing activities and were very organized and friendly. We even got to take a family picture with The Cat in the Hat. My litte girl left her artwork there and started crying on the way home when she realized it. I called the museum and a sweet lady named Cynthia took time to go find her painting and mail it to us!! Great Place with Great People!!

Great place to visit with a lot of information in the museum. Many displays and aquariums for the kids. The trails outside are also fun, but be sure to wear good walking shoes and carry water and a snack, as some are quite extensive.

This is a great place to take the kids. Lots to see and do, the staff is great. The gift shop has a lot of great stuff.

This museum is just the right size for school aged kids. Not so large they fatigue or lose interest, but large enough to provide plenty to do and see. This place was a mix of hands-on and stand back and look exhibits. It was clean, modern and pleasant in every way. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. We were there during a special presentation of migratory birds, and there were a dozen or more special exhibits and activities that fit that theme.
The aquarium area is a standout, with beautiful and varied fish, rays, turtles, snakes...there is also an area with some impressive fossils and dinosaur and other animal's skeletons on display.
The price was extremely reasonable and the outside gardens were a pleasure. This is something the town of Jackson can be proud of.
Only drawback was the lack of a concessions area. We came at lunch time and I would have liked to be able to get a snack and cold drink without buying junk from the gift shop.
All in all, I would highly recommend.

Went for a day date with my wife. Enjoyed the goose bumps experience they were having. The aquarium was very informative. I was unaware of all the varieties of fish we have here. Made for a fun day.

It was $20 for 2 adults and 2 kids. You walk down stairs to several areas. The center was great with several fossils, a room with video, and interactive area on anxiety/fear.
On one end was a great aquarium area with local fish, salt-water fish, and reptiles; even a two-headed snake.
The middle had a fear area with a hands on opportunity to learn more about your fears.
They're was a small area outside but it was too hot to go out.
It took us about an hour. We didn't go into the gift shop. There is also an elevator if you can walk down stairs.
Bathrooms were nice and clean. Young lady at the desk was really friendly.

We enjoyed bringing the baby here where he enjoyed looking at the animals on display and not to mention the ones in the aquarium.

Mississippi summers are miserable and we are always looking for indoor activities for the kids! The MMNS met our needs and we keep going back! There are great exhibits about the state that stay on site and then traveling exhibits that are all part of the admission fee. Make sure to check out the fish and turtles!

The museum isn't large but still a lot to see. We really enjoyed the space exhibits, and they had a cool aquarium section. The park that is connected to the museum was fun to walk around as well.

What a wonderful museum! And a great introduction to Mississippi's contribution to North America dinosaur and wildlife! The trail and cypress trees were "forest bathing" at its best. What a lovely surprise. Highly recommend for all ages!

Its a nice place to go when you have some time to kill. Would have liked it to be a bit bigger and more in depth for my daughter but she is only 4. If you have older children it would be awesome. Though she did fall in love with the aquarium that they have there.

Unbelievable nice and beautiful little museum . I suggest it to all families to visit it once. actually for children.

We stopped here on a Saturday afternoon after having lunch and really enjoyed it. A lot of cool exhibits, both living and animatronic. Friendly staff as well. I really liked the fossil exhibit that also listed on a state map which county each artifact was found. Also only 6 bucks per person to enter which we thought was pretty inexpensive. I recommend checking it out if you enjoy nature and history.

This is another attraction that we enjoy bringing our kids to. Even though we've been many times before, they're always excited to come back.

We visited the museum on a Friday and were quite lucky to have the place to ourselves. The new “Ocean Diver” exhibit is very neat and educational. However, it was our first visit to the museum and we were blown away impressed with the nature exhibits. I would put them on par with the Field Museum in Chicago. Beautifully done dioramas representing all
Of the native flora and fauna. And my kids favorite part? The very much alive, two headed rat snake.

Fun visit . Learn things you didn't know about Mississippi..close to the downtown area . Close to other museums . Kids also love it ..

This is a must do. It is unbelievable what animals/ fish that is around the Jackson area and they are all at the MMNS. Check out the paddle fish. I can't believe these things are in the rivers and lakes here.

My granddaughter loves the Natural Science museum, and I enjoy it too. There is always something new, its always clean, and the staff is friendly. Love the aquarium! Will be back every few months to check it out.

I was going to visit the Civil Rights Museum but it was closed due to water issues. Plan B: Try the natural science museum. Its located about five exits up from the downtown area in La Fleur State Park. It's adjacent to the Children's Museum, so plan on seeing both if you have kids. Although small (I went through it in one hour and I'm a stop-and-read-everything type of visitor), it had great signage, interesting exhibits, and some interactive displays for children. Be sure to see the two-headed snake -- yes, really! -- and the ancient fish exhibit with the sturgeon, gar, and paddlefish was worth the admission. As a solo 50ish woman, I found the museum as enjoyable even as a child-less adult. If you're visiting late in the afternoon, be sure to see the gift shop early -- it was closed by 4:45 even though the museum closed at 5. Glad I visited.

The place is not large but it has nice displays. It is ideal to visit with children. You can also take advantage of the trails outside the museum.

We took our young grandson and he loved every minute of it and so did we. Price Is reasonable and the exhibits are wonderful! You will live it. The staff does a really good job!

The giant 500lb catfish makes me hungry. Just wish the Jackson Zoo was linked to this site near the Smith Wills area with shuttle/incorporate Mayes Lake with use of a shuttle for its visitors. Need a bit more Jackson, if you're considered a city. Lots of under-utilized potential....

The museum was nice for it's size. I was there when they had the dinosaur exhibits. The dinosaurs were animatronic and made sounds. They also had outside dinosaur displays. Good price to get in museum for $6.00. I like the aquarium section. They also have a terrarium with turtles, alligators, etc. The only complaint that I would have would be the handicapped accessibility. You go in to the museum and then you either have to go down stairs or go in a small.. and I mean small.. elevator to do down to the exhibits. A small regular wheelchair could get in by itself in the elevator but I don't think my friend that has a motorized wheelchair could have gotten in the elevator. They didn't really think that design out. Overall a good little museum if you are interested in things like that. There was a lot of taxidermy animals. Museum is located within the Lefleur's Bluff State Park which I thought was nice along with another children's museum (I did not go in). The museum of Natural Science was a good way to spend a Saturday.

We were in the area for a trade show and looking for something to do with teens to take a break from the show. We found this museum easily and decided to check t out. The admission price of $6 for adults and $4 for kids up to 18 was a great value. It included admission to a park complex and the museum. The museum as small but good. It took only a little more than an hour to see it all. There was a special dinosaur exhibit my kids enjoyed. And we happened to be there at feeding time for the largest section of The aquarium and we all really enjoyed that. There is a nice nature trail for waking and a good bird watching area.

We visited this museum the day after visiting the Mississippi Children's Museum next door. My son enjoyed the dinosaur section with its interactive elements, and he couldn't get enough looking at the baby alligators. The animal exhibits are fun and educational, as well. There also is a very nice big playground outside of the museum in the park for some outdoor fun.

A very nice and educational experience. The exhibits are very well thought out and displayed nicely. Some exhibits include fossils and dinosaur bones found in various regions of Mississippi. Other exhibits offer examples of the various wildlife and fish that exists throughout the state today. It is definitely worth the time and entry fee.

Great museum to see on any road trip. With Dinasaur exhibits and friendly approachable staff. I enjoy the animal diisplays too and this was a great place to spend a few hours whilst in the surrounding area.

I love museums and having been to my fair share, its great to see the state invested smart with this Museum of Natural Science. It's not what one would call a large museum by square footage but it is jam packed with intrigue. No square footage went to waste in this construction. Its a great place to take the family for to show and teach of the many things Mississippi has to offer all in one stop! Not to mention, the children's museum is right next door and so is a lovely park with a disc golf course! I'd rate this high in quality time well spent! :

My son said that this was his favorite place that we visited in Jackson (even after the Children's Museum and the Zoo). He really enjoyed the moving dinosaurs and the fish/turtles. I like that there is a trail where you can go explore and actually put what you've seen in the museum into real-life (identifying bugs/birds/trees). The beehive was really neat. It was well-kept and a great value for a few hours of fun.

As part of a fun plan for a day with our Grandchildren, we included a trip to the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science. We have included the Museum in many previous days with our grandchildren over the past decade or so and it never gets old. There is something for all ages and it is always fresh. We will keep this great Museum in our repertoire as long as we are able to participate.

Visited during my spare time, there is a great variety of things to see but will not spoil your visit. Great place if you have children

I found this to be very interesting! It was a great day! So informative. I would definitely go back.

I'm not much for natural history museums; but had some time so stopped in. Most of the exhibits are on a long divided corridor. One size is the standard museum-style stuff but on the other are some fine recreated environments highlighting various Mississippi water and land ecosystems. There are a series of aquariums with very, very natural settings and across from them exhibits representing mammal settings.
The museum works hard to keep children interested. Right now there is a "grassology" exhibit, definitely designed for kids.
Nice place.

We love going here with our kids. There are always informative exhibits coming through, and the permanent exhibits are nice as well. The live animal collection is very interesting, and the two headed snake is always a favorite (for the kids, anyway!)!

The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science is a wonderful example of the lost art of charging exactly what something is worth. Oftentimes there are stories of a poor, unsuspecting customer being way overcharged for a product due to the stereotypical, evil businessman. Everyone either knows somebody, or has themselves experienced a purchase at least once in their life when they were truly swindled. It's an unfortunate reality of life, but it makes one more appreciative when they get exactly what they asked for. The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science does just that when they charge $6 per adult.
Initial thoughts on the fee left my friend and I bewildered with all of the possibilities. "What a deal!" we initially thought. Though perhaps if you were a skeptic, you would’ve found yourself asking, "So, what's the catch?" And in our case as college students low on funds and always looking for a great deal, we wondered, "Why isn't there a student discount of some kind?" We even found ourselves curiously pondering this from the business side of things thinking, "How are they turning a profit?" All of these thoughts are a real part of the experience that the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science brings. Because after sitting on these thoughts for too long, we found that we had no choice but to investigate and see what the answers were to these questions and so many more!
Upon arriving at the excellent location – just off of the interstate – we were enamored with the colorful display announcing that we’d arrived in the right place. The colorful decorations; the winding road giving view of the immediate surroundings allowed the anticipation to build; and last, but not least, the perfect amount of cars and people already there. Even on a seemingly random Friday afternoon in March, there was a wonderful amount of people there so that we didn’t find ourselves awkwardly walking around the premises all by our lonesome.
We bought our tickets, and parked. Upon entering the building, we were greeted by 3 taxidermic deer. To our right was the underwhelming gift shop, and that's when it began to sink in. It occurred to us that the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science's pricing was determined by neither Papa Bear, nor Mama Bear; but rather it was Baby Bear who established the $6 entry per adult. We walked down the stairs and directly above us hung from the ceiling was the skeleton of a massive creature that used to live in the ocean, and hopefully no longer does. It was spectacular, and awe-inspiring on its own. However, the greatest thing about it in retrospect was the contrast it provided to its surroundings. For after we marveled for a few seconds at the glorious creature, we're greeted by an average display showing off various descriptions of days long gone and the like. They're not bad, and they're not good; they are what they are.
Continuing on would only lead to many encounters of the same nature. In one section, there were multiple powerful binoculars place in front of a window allowing us to gaze upon the birds that were going about their days. Nearby were the constantly looping monitors displaying various videos, including one of a man chopping down a tree in the middle of a forest. After that is a miniature-zoo like setting showing off their various alligators and turtles. This followed the same theme as the rest of the establishment with a menacing snapping turtle in one exhibit, and a stuffed alligator sitting in the open space in front of it.
Overall, the experience was one that I shall never forget and would recommend to a friend in a heartbeat. While I don't think there's too much to be gained from this experience in the way of finding interesting facts or such about natural science; I can't think of a better example of the phrase "it is what it is." There might not be a more ambiguous phrase in the English language, but having visited this place, I can accurately say that I have actually encountered the idiom and its true meaning. The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science is what it is, and it is $6 per adult.

It is a good attraction to visit; especially to take young people. The young minds are so inquisitive these days. And it seems that science is a drawing card for them.

At the Museum for the next few months is an exhibit called Goosebumps. This exhibit will allow you to face your fears. Great fun for the entire family. If you have not found this Museum before you are in for a real treat!

My family really enjoyed this museum, especially the aquariums of fish, turtles, snakes, and alligators (they even have a two-headed snake!!) The outdoor area behind the museum is lovely.

Our 4-year-old boy loves this museum. And we do too! We went for a birthday party and the guide there was very informative and entertaining. The exhibits are cool and so is the walking trail to the Pearl River.

We chose to go to this museum rather than the neighboring children's museum because it was cheaper. What a good decision. All our kids, ages 1 to 6, had a blast. This museum has done a wonderful job of making their exhibits both informative and accessible to all ages.
We went on a weekday, which was wonderful. There were very few people there. If you need something to do in Jackson, I highly recommend you check on the Natural Science Museum. We will be back!

I loved the aquarium in this museum - that's what drew me to it, and the grounds are very expansive and great for walks. Some of the museum is really aimed at kids, but some of it really is informative and interesting about the dinosaurs, and wildlife/ vegetation in Mississippi since the pre-historic eras up until today and they include some sections on how to continue to protect and respect the natural world around us. Maybe a little too much to read when you first go down into the main room.

I was meeting people for an important first meeting, but traveling with a dog. We were told by a local that dogs were allowed inside, but that was not the case. Oh well we walked around the small botanical garden admiring plants and enjoying the metal art sculptures. We ended up sitting under the covered picnic area and just enjoyed the cool breezes, lovely landscaping and great conversation. I can't tell you how the Museum inside looked but if you need a low key place to meet and catch up this is perfect.

One of my favorite places to take my grandchildren. It's not overwhelming and usually has a special exhibit in addition to the Mississippi related themes.
The fish tanks are delightful, and it's child friendly and safe. This is not a huge center, but a delightful one that we return to regularly.

We had a great time here. There was a lot of really interesting stuff to see and the nature trail is shaded and really cool. Don't miss it. This place is really affordable too.

This was our first visit to this museum. We went on a Friday and there were activities set up for children, which was really nice for our family. My kids really enjoyed that. There were lots of live animals in the regular exhibits as well as the traveling reptile exhibit, some of which I had never seen before. This is not a huge museum, but it was worth the price of entry. The staff was wonderful! Very friendly and helpful! They have a nice little gift shop where we picked up a few things for our kids before leaving.

We happened to catch the traveling dinasour egg display and it was terrific. However the permanent collection is very enjoyable and well presented. There is an abundance of information available if one is interested in learning, but it is worthwhile if one only wants to wander through and look at the displays. If you do not enjoy sharing your visit with children then plan to come in the afternoon or on weekends as many school field trips are scheduled to take advantage of this opportunity. There are trails available outdoors and if one visits when the wisteria is in bloom there is a fantastic walk through arbor that would be dripping with blossoms, the museum is primarily indoors. We were exceedingly pleased with this stop.

This was a nice small museum. The kids (age 9 and 11) loved it. Would have been better if the weather was nice enough to use the trails outside but still had enough interesting exhibits.

Two hour drive from Hammond, La and I will gladly return here. Inexpensive, clean, right off interstate, and lots of free parking. Perfect for a family day. Interesting, educational, and interactive! My kids are 9 & 11, they can't wait to go back!

We love this place! We visited the Wolf to Woof exhibit. Very interesting. We always enjoy our visit to the science museum.

I am so happy that I decided to visit the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science with my son this weekend. The cost for entry was stellar. It was a mere $10.00 for one adult and one child. I am convinced that you will receive far more from this museum than what you actually paid. It is quite large and has a wonderful outdoor walking trail for exploration and many other exhibits as well.
Today, our focus was the Wild Weather Exhibit which is on display from May 29, 2021 - December 31, 2021. This exhibit is very well done and allows a child to explore so many different aspects of weather such as hurricanes, lightning, droughts, tornadoes, and some extremes for the south like blizzards. If you are looking for hands on exploration for your child with weather you have found just the right place at the Natural Science Center. Honestly, my son and I spent an entire two hours in the Wild Weather exhibit and we loved every moment. Our absolute favorite was the exhibit regarding extremely cold temperatures. We loved the design of the exhibit that allowed us to examine what is needed in a home to survive during a winter emergency. I was surprised by the realism of this particular exhibit. Our absolute favorite was creating a newscast with the weather reporter. Once recorded it was then played back and it features your child. Also, traveling through the snow tunnel was extremely fun. We also loved pretending to fly in a Hurricane Hunter aircraft and learning the purpose for such a flight. Also, creating a mini tornado simulation was both fun and educational. Just cannot say enough wonderful things about this exhibit entitled: Wild Weather. I suggest if you want to discover more make a date with your child and visit the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science and don’t forget to visit early so that you can experience the hiking trail. I believe this place makes for a lovely day. Thanks to everyone who put such dedication and love into Wild Weather. The time and educational research put into this exhibit is evident and greatly appreciated.

4 hours of excellent exhibits, amazing dioramas and aquariums and nature trails. The scope of the museum is exceptional. I found myself most amazed by the aquariums and terrarium, both the nature trails were well laid out, easy to navigate and well signed.

Some excellent and well organized exhibits. Perfect for youngsters.
Didn't need a lot of time to see the exhibits as they were just changing a large display so a large portion was not being used on the day we arrived.

This is a very clean, well organize and kid friendly place. Has nature trails that seem like a rain forest. There is also LeFlures Bluff with large playground, great for picnics

We really enjoyed this museum. My babies (2,3,4), didn't wanna leave. The exhibit displayed great facts and the small aquarium was more than we hoped for. It was money well spent. We will be visiting again soon and I recommend this trips to all schools!!

Absolutely loved the aquarium at this museum. For a non-major city museum, I thought that offered so much. Be sure to check out the nature trails behind the museum. My friends and I had a blast walking the trails. Also was a very affordable attraction.

Every time I pass through Jackson for night my kids DEMAND to go here. They absolutely love the place. There are a number of fossils and the habitats for the live animals are just great. They have fish, snakes and gators. There are also interactive activities for kids and school groups are always welcome here. You can spend several hours here and not even realize it.

Spent a few hours touring both indoor and outdoor sites. Beauty and information to hold the interest of an eleven year old and forty somethings. Indoor exhibits include static with preserved animals, artifacts, fossils, and aquariums. A two-headed snake was a big hit with our crew. Signage is missing in a few spots but not enough to ruin the experience. The outdoor trails take you through beautiful areas including a swamp and near the Pearl River. Didn't notice a snack bar but picnic areas are available as well as an impressive playground. $6 adults; $4 kids

Took my 8 years old grandson and we had a ball. Do wish they had more places for an old lady to sit down and rest now and then though. LOL I think I loved the Dinsaurs as much as he did.

First time visiting and will definitely go again. Educational and just plain interesting. Found a fossil on display of a fossil I've found in a creek. Aquariums with fish and some with snakes. Tanks with alligators and logger heads.

Overpriced and the "petrified forrest" is a joke. Save the money and show your kids some rocks. I was expecting much more than some stones lying around. May I have a refund, please?

We had a great time here. Very good setup and exhibits. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Most surprising were the entry prices. Extremely low in our opinion. 4 of us got in for $20. Very much worth it.

It's a beautiful museum with tons of exhibits and fossils for the family to enjoy. My favorite part was the aquarium that ranges from local to exotic fish.

Took our grandson to receive an award at the capital and made a trip to this museum. We had a wonderful time watching our grandson enjoy this museum.

Part aquarium, part history museum, part children’s museum with a park next to the parking lot. There’s a large dinosaur bone donated by the guys from “American Pickers.”

This museum is incredible. So informative in such an easy to digest manner. Terrific exhibits - above, below and in water. Obviously very popular which is a surprise as admission is only $6 for adults.

It was better than expected. It was fun to see all the fossils that came from our county. The fact that some of those dinosaurs came from where we live was fascinating. The kids loved seeing all the fish, turtles and the two-headed snake. We weren't able to take all of the trails due to construction, but the kids never knew it.
The museum happened to be filming for a documentary. The kids were a part and loved the group setting with the turtle and snake. My children are 5 and 10, and both loved it equally.
I found the Spring Break Special on line, and our family of four went for $10. You cannot beat that for 2 1/2-3 hours of entertainment!

My oldest child (age 6) is an animal lover so we were excited to visit this museum on our trip to Jackson. Her interest far surpassed my expectations! There is so much to see and touch in this museum, and my 2 year old loved it as well. The Wolf to Woof exhibit was informative yet still captured both of their interest as did the rest of the exhibits in the museum. Afterwards, we walked around outside the museum and then played on a big playground just down the street. If we lived in Jackson, this would be a place we would visit frequently!

It has some great exhibits for a relatively small science museum. It is definitely worth the very reasonable entry fee. In fact, I'd like to return in the near future to spend more time at some of the exhibits my kids rushed through. Both (7 and 11) really enjoyed it but they wanted to spend all their time at the visiting Animal Grossology exhibit. They liked the Children's Museum a bit more, but it was also more expensive.

We visited with our 5-year who has been asking to go to an aquarium for more than a year. The displays that showed all the different types of aquatic environments in Mississippi were well thought out. We happened onto the giant wall tank at exactly the time of their feeding. It was fascinating to watch. Even better the wildlife biologist who cares for the fish stopped by. We spent about 15 minutes chatting with him. He had so much knowledge to share and it was clear he loved the fish and his job. The nature trails were great and a lovely place to let our kid burn off some energy.

Visited with my two kids (age 4 and 1.5). They both loved all the aquariums and live animals. Some of the other stuff was a little over their heads, but it was worth it alone for all the time they spent looking at fish and wildlife because they were utterly captivated. We also enjoyed taking a little hike on some of the walking trails outside.

This was a very nice museum. I visited by myself when they first opened on morning and it wasn't too crowded. For a small museum, it is very well done. I would visit again.

I love this place. We moved about an hour from this place a few years ago. I have taken many kids as well as my son. It's always interesting and fun. They always learn something new.

The Museum of Natural Sciene has something for everyone. Not only do children love to visit the museum, but it is a wonderful place for adults. I enjoy visiting during the various exhibits that change throughout the year.

I visited the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science last year and had a great time! It is located close to downtown Jackson, so you don't have to do much driving to get between this attraction and the city's other major points of interest. The museum is in a beautiful location on the banks of the Pearl River, and it is technically a part of LeFleur's Bluff State Park. The state park supports many fun activities in the area surrounding the museum, including some beautiful hiking trails that I enjoyed after seeing the museum.
The museum is composed of exhibits covering the long-term natural history of Mississippi and the modern day environment in the state. Some of the exhibits on modern habitats even feature living animals (typically fish and reptiles) that call these habitats home! The museum was well organized and was a fantastic introduction to the nature and natural history of Mississippi. I liked how each of the habitat exhibits featured a map showing exactly where in the state you can find the habitats.
I left the museum feeling like I knew the natural environment and history of Mississippi much better than I did coming in. It was a great experience and a fun way to spend a couple of hours!

World class museum, great auditorium,
Beautiful aquariums, wonderful for families with children of all ages. Excellent nature trail and exhibits. Convenient location adjacent to Interstate 55 and Lakeland Drive. Friendly and helpful staff. A major attraction in state of MS.

They have some very educational exhibits not just from the past but also aquariums with local snakes and fish and of course Alligators. There is a lovely walking trail behind it and a park next to it and also the Mississippi Children's Museum nest door. Just a wonderful place to go and see all things about Mississippi wildlife and history.

This is a small museum but great place for kids and adults. The fossil section is well described and nicely laid out. The interactive game room where you can pretend to be a dinosaur and forage for food/prey/water was pretty cool. The paddle fish was an unusual but interesting thing for me.

The museum is nice, it had some interesting displays. It's not what a history buff would seek out, but it is a great experience for the kids

We visited late in the afternoon so not very crowded. Boys enjoyed the Goosebumps exhibit and the other exhibits. I enjoy the trails there too. We will be back.

My teenager and my 7 year old thought this was one of the most awesome places. That in itself says a lot lol. They have lots of cool exhibits.

Spend several hours and enjoy ALL of the exhibits, aquariums, and walking trails. Great for all ages from young children to seniors.

Had time to burn before airport so we stopped. Very hot outside but cool inside. More of a kid type museum but some things were interesting. You have small kids, worth stopping otherwise head to Vicksburg.

We arrived just as the museum was opening and enjoyed walking through the exhibits without a crowd. Because the staff were expecting a large number of school children, there were several folks around to guide us through and explain the mission of the museum and it's history. We especially enjoyed the several large aquariums with a variety of fish, turtles, alligators, etc. Our favorite display was probably the gators. We finished inside just as the busses of kids started arriving, so we went out and had a nice walk on a couple of the trails around the museum. It was well worth the stop!

Learned a lot at this place very instructive a fenomenal place for families and even a solo visit enjoyed every minute of it.

We took our 5 kids here while on a summer road trip and we loved everything about it. The exhibits are amazing and really showcase the animals. Overall its a fun place to experience.Would do it again if ever in the area.

This museum is a wonderful place for children and adults to visit. There are rotating exhibits to keep things fresh. Wildlife to observe in natural settings. Endless learning opportunities. A wonderful resource to educate and instill a love for the nautral beauty of MS.

We visited this museum with 5 grandchildren, ages 7-12 as we were visiting family in Jackson. The museum is laid out well, is family friendly and has a variety of interesting exhibits.

If you find yourself in Jackson Mississippi do not miss seeing the this museum. It has won multiple awards and is simply outstanding. It has the most beautiful live exhibits walking the trails down by the Pearl River which is the first river east of the Mississippi River that flows to the Gulf of Mexico.
Inside the museum you can learn more in a single hour about the flora and fauna of the state over millions of years. It truly is a magnificent experience for every age. You will enjoy it more than you can imagine and if you have children or grandchildren with you their imaginations will be running in high gear.
This is a very educational place and is just plain fun. It is indeed one of the finest natural science museums in the country with an educated staff that is both extremely knowledgeable but also just a courteous.
Do not miss this experience. It is just incredible.

wonderful-cheap-hands on-2 head snake ALIVE nice building helpful workers-not alot of kids running around

Excellent layout of fossils across time and era, some startling surprises, keep an eye out for "Ziggy", the Mississippi State Fossil. It is obvious that the displays were curated for a simplicity of viewing, while conveying pertinent information. We are returning this summer to view a special traveling exhibit on dinosaur. The aquarium is also a marvel in organization with attention paid to both environment and species. Great place to spend the day.

It was so hot outside, we thought this was a cool way to spend a few hours the displays were well done, varied and very educational. There were videos, hands on displays and first person events. The aquarium was particularly interesting.

The museum was great, considering we had a 1 year old, he loved all the exhibits and especially the aquarium with the fish and snakes , they have the step that allow The smaller kids get a better view...we enjoyed it and my son too and some of hand on stuff

What a great museum for all ages. The displays, dioramas, and aquarium are so nicely curated. It is especially nice that there are two copies of the information so more people can stand and look at the reptiles/exhibits.
The two-headed snake was fascinating even for a snake-a-phobe.
The entire museum is efficiently laid out with lots of information, great views from the windows and a small gift shop.
It's very easy to find off I-55, and plenty of parking.

Great experience for the whole family. I went with my mother and my two daughters (age 4 and 6). We all had a great time. There were so many things to look at and keep the kids attention. We thoroughly enjoyed the exhibit and can't wait to come back again.

There is so much to see and do here with the kids. Its interesting and informative lots of interactive things to see and do.

Not sure that it is worth a visit as the museum needs to be modernised and brought into the 21st century. The exhibits are limited and there are very few opportunities for kids to interact with different elements. The trails are excellent and everyone enjoyed exploring outside.

My kids love this place they have play areas where they can play along with great exhibits. Wish it were bigger but great place for kids.

Knowledge is indispensable for fulfillment .
The method of obtaining useful information is critical. Presentation, ease of learning make the process easier.
The natural science museum provides visitors of all ages the ability to obtain useful information in a pleasant environment .
Children enjoy this journey as do adults. Periodic exhibits vary the educational experience.
Please visit this museum for a memorable experience.

My oldest child loves this place. She wants to go here over any other place in Jackson. This is a must visit in Jackson.

Been there done that, however, let's do it again! It's always fun to look at what native animals existed way before when and to walk the creepy outside trail filled with SPIDERS and the occasional snakes. I like food and nature so I lean towards those things. If you don't like looking at boring relics of prehistoric fossils, then this may not be for you. The children really do enjoy the experience since it's geared towards them anyway. They have interactive games, little play areas, theaters, and live aquariums throughout to keep little ones engaged. Outside is a trail and a huge playground area. Enjoy!

You must stop here with the whole family. You will not leave without a new outlook on Mississippi and the amazing treasures in our natural resources. Staff is 5 Star, so are the displays.

Mississippi can be proud of this museum. It's lots of fun for the kids, too. A wonderful way to spend several hours.

I loved seeing how my nephews enjoyed the animals and the information about Mississippi! We all had a great time!

This place is surprisingly nice. It is set in a beautiful woodland setting and you can see outside as well as stroll the grounds. The displays are well executed and the staff is information and pleasant to talk with. They have a good variety of displays and then you can go to the aquarium with live fish, turtles, snakes, etc. It is interesting to both adults and children.

Our children (4, and 7) had a wonderful time at the museum!!! Fun and lots to do! Also, in a very safe part of town.

A nice small city museum. The seasonal do evolution exhibit is very nice and informative. Very reasonable price and close by parking.

Took our 3 year old today and she loved the Dinosaurs and the fish! Lots of animal displays and animatronic dinosaurs.

We love coming to the museum, always interesting. Everyone should make an effort to come here, there is also a children's area.

This was my first visit here and I immensely enjoyed it. I was able to view the canine exhibit, which is there until Jan 3rd, I believe. It's a really neat place to spend an our or two killing time for both adults and children. Aside from exhibits, there are varied size fish tanks and a terranium with turtles and small alligators.
The gift shop is small but worth a quick stop. There are short walking trails that the museum leads to that total about 2.1 miles.
The museum entrance is on the main floor with the gift shop. However, the museum is located downstairs with lots of door leading outside.

We learned so much while bonding a shaving a blast. The various attractions gave us numerous choices to engage as serious faculties. The gift shop was a great ending to our day.

My kids went here for field trips. It's good for little kids. Educational and lots of centers for them to explore. Another great place for a rain day.

Great place to visit with young people!!! The staff there are very eager to help visitors to learn about the displays

A good indoor place for kids and adults. It has a 2 headed snake for everyone to see. Fish tanks, stuffed wildlife, bones, and nature trail are their attraction.

I took my 77 year old Aunt to this museum and we had a great time. We enjoyed the interactive nature of the museum as much as the young children. We also appreciated the indoor and outdoor activities that I could access even with a wheelchair. Overall, it was a great experience.

It's really good place for children who likes all animals. You spend here mamy time :-) with your family. It's not expensive .

We love the museum and frequent it often! It's wonderful for the budget and the kids learn even though they think they are just having fun. It's easy going and laid out well! A must do!

Our family really enjoyed our afternoon at the museum. The layout is nice. The exhibits are very interesting with just the right balance of information. The fossils were absolutely amazing and our 7 year old daughter absolutely loved all of the interactive learning stations.

Brought four children ages 2-4 for an educational, but oh-so fun, couple of hours. We called ahead to schedule a story time. What a treat! Denise, the museum employee, shared books, information and an alligator and snake petting experience. I recommend visiting the museum if you have a natural science buff in your party. An excellent way to spend a day.

They have amazing exhibits of Mississippi wildlife. The only downside is they don't tell you all the creatures they have on display. Showing is awesome but learning about them is even better!

This was a nice place. Lots to look at. My husband & I went just for fun & we are glad we went. Worth the trip. Only $5 per person!!

What a great stop for our family, while on a road trip across the country. This is really a combination of museum, zoo, and nature center, tucked away in Jackson, MS. My son (5) loved the dinosaur fossils and live alligators, my daughter (9) loved the special weather exhibit, and the whole family enjoyed the animal displays. Great way to spend a few hours without spending a small fortune!

The low cost of this museum/aquarium contributes to my rating of 4. The attraction is quite small, but has an excellent amount of aquatic animals in well maintained tanks. Great exhibit with baby gators, and turtles which was really cool. The museum is in good shape, but it is just not a lot of variety of things to see. Oh yeah there is a living since 2003 2 headed snake.

We've been to the Museum of Natural Science a few times with our children when we are in town to visit family. The two-headed snake is a big hit as is the giant sloth. It's a nice mix of live animals and animal representations, remains, etc. with interactive information. The extensive playground in the park is a bonus - we get our wiggles out before heading inside.

I found this museum so much more affordable than the children's museum and very educational for my 8 and 5 year olds. I think we saw only 2 other families there during our entire visit. We were really able to linger over the exhibits and talk about what we were seeing. We had just studied the ivory billed woodpecker and they had one at the museum! Although the children's museum was more fun for the kids we learned much more at the science museum.

First of all the pricing is TERRIBLE!! My son hated it and said it was a waste of time. Another Reason why it was horrible was the exhibits. I'm telling If you don't want to waste your money and time DO NOT go here. Thanks
-Serena Miranda

A group of senior members from our church S.W.A.T (seniors with a testimony) took a trip to this attraction, and everyone had a really great time! All of the exhibits were very informative and well presented. They gave us a super discount on admission because we came as a group and free admission for our bus driver and leader! This is a worthwhile adventure for everyone. That was the largest timber rattlesnake I have ever seen! I only wish we had allotted more time to spend there.

My son is 7. Although he enjoyed the museum, I believe that he would have had a better experience if it had been more hands on.

Had a few hours to kill before my delayed flight so I decided to check out the museum. I thought admission was pretty inexpensive but then realized there wasn't that much to see. I was disappointed in the lack of exhibits. Maybe I'm used to bigger museums but felt the two headed snake was the highlight of the museum.

I took my son here because we had a relative in the hospital, and I wanted him to get away from the waiting room for a while. I'm so glad we found this place! We loved the aquariums and the dioramas, as well as the terrarium. There were several exhibits being updated, and they looked like they'd be wonderful for kids. We walked a couple of the trails, and were able to see some of the wildlife. I'd definitely visit again.

The museum is one of the best state museums I have ever seen! So much information and I loved how they tied it to the area it was located in! I wish we had something in our state like this! Really educates you and entertains you in the local area. The main exhibit was dinosaurs. But most of them were dinosaurs that were found in that area! How cool is that? I loved it. My husband loved it! It was laid out well and the dinosaurs moved! Too cool! Then there were exhibits of the local wildlife, an amazing aquarium, and a really cool terrarium area with turtles and alligators. So neat! Ever turn brought more really cool items to view! Very happily surprised! Would highly recommend this for young and old! We did not pay to park, but did pay an entrance fee.

Practical like- the cost for entry and parking is the same, no extra fee. The exhibits were nice. We loved the special exhibit with the fish. The gift shop is not much.

This is a unique place to visit because it’s a combination of a zoo (tons of live alligators, fish and even a LIVE two headed snake!) part museum (Dino bones and neat animal displays) with really cool forest trails. It’s a really nice place to kill half the day at. It was raining whenever we visited, but if it wasn’t we would have explored the trails more.
Cost: $6 adults & $5 over 60yrs old
Time to explore: 2-5 hrs.
Hours open:
Monday - Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Sunday: 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

We had an afternoon free and visited this museum. Although small compared to the big cities, it was very interesting and full of information. We really enjoyed it and it has a well priced gift shop attached to it as well.

Had a 1 day trip to Jackson and spent the morning at the Natural Science museum. Spent about 3 hours total with 2 toddlers who really enjoyed themselves. The aquarium portion was very neat to see. Also enjoyed the fossils/dinos on exhibit.
The ripley's traveling exhibit was very neat to see as well. We did not take in any of the nature trails due to it trying to rain.
Only thing that makes it not 5 stars 1) bathrooms had not been cleaned when we arrived at opening. Cleaning crew was there but that seemed off. They were not nasty like gas stations but still paper and trash all about. 2) The gift shop was pretty disarrayed. T-shirts thrown every which way made it hard to find sizes we needed.
Otherwise an excellent visit! Will be back in the future!

took my grandkids (ages 6, 2) to the Jackson Museum of Natural Science. They all enjoyed the 'Be a Dinosaur exhibit' where each of them had a chance to be a dinosaur using the simulator. (very realistic ). Then to see all the natural water life around Mississippi truly fascinated them. I truly enjoyed this outing on a hot summer day.

Husband and I took our niece and nephew here on a Saturday in the summer about 2-3 years ago. The exhibits are very informative, and there is so much to see. You could get lost for a whole day in there if you really love science! The outdoor trails are pretty cool, too.

This is an excellent museum. The indoor exhibits are varied and fascinating. I particularly enjoyed the aquatic habitat and aquarium. Be sure to see the famous two-headed snake. Outside there are nature trails of varying lengths and degrees of difficulty, including one that is handicap accessible. One of our party has mobility issues, and he had no problem with the blue trail. The admission fee is very reasonable, and it's one of the few places that gives a senior discount at 60. We thoroughly enjoyed our day at the museum, and I would highly recommend it.

This museum is not well advertized in Louisiana, but my family tries to go to all special events. This is a must learing experience for kids

Family really enjoyed going I truly think it was educational for all of us learned about endangered species, also saw various fish, turtles, alligators, bears ,and birds.

This museum does a good job with the exhibits it has. The closest thing to an aquarium in Jackson. Ofter puts on major exhibits - like dinosaurs etc.

We had a great time. It's not very big, but its FULL of things to see, espin the aquarium area. Lots of fish and turtles. Snakes, and baby alligators. The outdoor area is nicely kept with trails and boardwalks. Price was great. $20 for 1 adult and 2 kids. The girls especially enjoyed digging for fossils. There were lots of staff that were very knowledgeable and helpful and full of information and we learned a lot. We then visited the park outside and it's amazing.

Great time at the museum. Very interesting and entertaining exhibits. The kids especially liked the aquariums in addition to the snakes and alligator exhibits. The museum keeps the exhibits fresh and rotates various themes. Will be returning soon. Takes about 2 hours to see it all. Geologists will enjoy many the exhibits also.

We drove to the Museum today - hoping to tour the exhibits and also take our small dog, who is traveling around the United States with us, for a short walk around the grounds. The security guard told us we could not have our dog on the grounds. When we offered to put our dog back in the car, so we could tour the Museum, we were told we could not even do that and were forced to leave. This was our only stop in Mississippi and I afraid we left with a very negative impression.

If you have never seen a two headed snake, this is your place. Great children's destination. Tree house, in play room, for the very young. Nice outdoor trail that takes you to the natural area with oxbow lakes. The indoor aquariums have species of fish found in Mississippi. There is also a collecction of fossils found in Mississippi. Great activity with children or for those who love wildlife and fish. Unusual wrought iron fence at entry.

Fun for kids and adults. Nice way to spend a few hours in air conditioning. The grand kids really enjoyed it.

I loved it all! The price is cheap, the nature trails are great, the exhibits are informative, and the staff are friendly. My only complaint was the mass of teen school kids that were banging on all the aquarium glass and yelling at all the live animals but I guess the museum can't control all of them.

This is the place to be if you have small children that lives to touch and pick up things. The various activities will keep them busy for hours. The butterfly safari was my favorite part of the museum. You can stand amongst the many varieties of butterflies and they'll actually land on you. Can can even feed them with treats supplied by staff. And during the summer months, children can put on their swimsuits and play around in the water sprinklers outside. They have reading activities about various animals in the museum. And adults, they even have interest you would love, like the nature trails you can get the little ones involved in. It's a peaceful and quiet place to let the children run wild while learning about the many wildlife animals we have here in Mississippi.

This is a great museum. It is inexpensive & informative. I loved the aquariums, exhibits, and especially the reptiles!

A must visit while in Jackson, very neat educational and entertaining experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

I took my class on a field trip and they had a great time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The facility was clean and extremely well kept. They had the dinosaur exhibit and my students loved it!

Another great place in the Jackson area to take your kids to play and have some fun. Storytime for the toddlers is a big hit with our daughter. Some of the exhibits change out during the year which is nice as it gives us an excuse to go again and have an entirely different subject matter to entertain.

This museum is located in the back of a very nice park and butts up to a great golf course and a state park with plenty of walking trails and a lake and camp grounds. The nature museum has displays of just about any kind of animal you will find in Mississippi. There are several aquariums with fish, turtles and alligators. They also have snakes and bees and things for kids and special exhibits throughout the year. The Nature Museum is very family and kid friendly

Inside state park

Great place to take the family. Kids love it, and the dinosaur exhibit is wonderful. Lots of exhibits showing the ecology of Mississippi along with the history.

This museum is an interesting place to visit for all ages. They have indoor exhibits as well as great nature trails.

The museum is a great place to hang out with the family. Interesting displays and new ones every couple of months. Kids love it.

Need to get out the summer heat? This is a great place to visit and really keeps the kids attention! Friendly staff and great facilities! Will be back.

I had a few hours to kill on a Sunday afternoon and I found my self at the Museum of Natural Science. It was very nice. It is not large and overwhelming but still had some very cool exhibits. They even have some small nature trails in the back in case you feel like walking in the Mississippi country side. (I recommend bug spray in the summer). The price is very reasonable at $5 and $1 for parking. They even have a small garden area around the front for you to view the native plants. Overall not to bad for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

I took my grandchild with me and we had a great time viewing the live exhibits as well as the feature exhibit. It was not crowded so we could take our time. You will want to take your camera and go out on the trails. You never know what you will see.

Really wish this was closer, because we would be here all the time! The temporary exhibit of the animatronic dinosaurs was fantastic. My boys ages 14, 5, and 3 had soooo much fun! They have so many different things to check out science wise that each of my kids gets something out of the place. They have tons of fish tanks, fossils, and taxidermy that allows the kids to get an up close perspective of the animals. We went on a Saturday and they had a wildlife show in the theatre. The guy doing the show had everyone laughing. You could tell he loves his jobs and the kids he teaches! He did an amazing job of getting the kids attention so they really learned about what he was teaching them. We also checked out 2 of the 4 trails available. We were easily able to navigate these trails with the kids. The Blue trail has some issues at the moment that weren't noted anywhere, but it wasn't a big deal as we just turned around and came back the way we came. We go out of our way to drive the 2 1/2 hours it takes us to get here for this great museum.

This museum was very interesting and educational. It is worth the trip. My 5 year old grandson even enjoyed it. It is clean and well maintained.

I myself manage a state park and have worked in others that housed museums; this museum is exceptional! There is no doubt that it sees many school children yet its bathrooms were impeccable and the museum itself was very well maintained. Kudos to the maintenance staff. What a wonderful and relaxing experience. We visited on a Wednesday afternoon in September. Visitation that day was light; they don't charge enough for this place! Well worth the $6.00 and the time to visit. We will go back in the Spring to take advantage of the trail system associated with the complex.

I had taken my students there and they enjoyed it so taking my family was even more fun. The exhibits are interactive and explain a lot about MS. There’s a swamp with live animals including alligators, fish, snakes etc. There are also multiple trails to walk on. The dinosaur room was incredible.

The day we visited the museum there was an event going on so there were lots and lots of kids exploring this museum. An exhibit of intrigue was the dinosaur bone found in a barn by American Pickers TV show. Your kids will enjoy all of the wildlife from around the world.

My family visits here several times each year. It always has lots of information and activities to hold the interests of my children( 5 and 8), as well as my husband and I. There is a nice aquarium with local species mostly those of river or lake habitat. There are rotating displays that are there for a few months each year. The outdoor area is nice, although they do not have designated places to reserve for birthday parties.

We arrived at the museum intending to spend couple of hours, however it was that interesting and informative that we spent most of the day. It is a very clean museum and the staff are very helpful an will talk to you about the exhibits. I had never seen a live two headed snake before at feeding time they feed the one head first then wait for the food to go down the oesophagus then they feed the other head, this stops it chocking. If you are in Jackson it is a place to visit and for $5 if you’re a pensioner it is well worth the money.

Aquariums, dinosaur exhibits, special exhibits, educational exhibits all centered on Mississippi....

What a gem exists in Jackson,MS. And it’s free. Plenty of interactive exhibits, and knowledgeable people. Don’t miss it.

I loved the Natural Science museum even before I had kids - the staff is friendly, the permanent exhibits are awesome (favorite fun fact: they ALWAYS have a two-headed snake!), and the atmosphere is relaxed compared to many "family-friendly" museums. I don't live in Jackson anymore, but when traveling there with my kiddo in tow, this is a must-stop for us whenever time allows!
Note: It's a small museum. If you're expecting an NYC-Natural-History-museum-level experience, this is not that. But for the price, the convenience, and the genuinely good content, it excels at what it IS, which is a well-curated small-city museum.

Great place to take children, visitors from out of state! Very educational and worth the trip. Beautiful museum, tucked in next to the state park.

Great museum in Mississippi. Something for all ages. Every time I go I see something new and we have a great time. Bring your family here!!

Visited the museum when my sister was in town, and loved it! A small place but filled with interesting exhibits. My teenager had a good time too! We will be back!

My wife and I took our 16 month old son. He loved running all over looking at the fish and snakes and turtles. I found it educational and enjoyed the walk outside. My favorite part was the two headed snake they have on exhibit. Also some interactive experiences detailing how to help keep our waterways clean.

I read one of these reviews that said don't waste your time. This is a great place to waste time and if you do you may learn something or see something you have never seen. Firstly the admission is $6. You can stay inside and enjoy the aquariums and displays and children activities and hands on displays all day if you want. There are many clean rest rooms a gift shop and it's all air conditioned! If you have seen enough inside there are several awesome walking trails outside that if you want, will take you to Mays Lake where you may picnic, fish or paddleboat and walk to the banks of the Pearl River. I would recommend this museum to anyone that has an hour or four to kill!

Great educational experience. My family comes here monthly to enjoy educational sites and experiences. The store is a plus and the admission price is worth it!

The aquariums were the highlight of a great museum. Lots of interesting information. The outside hiking trails were good too.

This is not a large museum but it makes good use of its space. It has some great live exhibits featuring primarily reptiles and fish. It also has a lot of stuffed animal exhibits which exposes you to a lot of animals, primarily birds you may not normally see. They have a few pretty cool dinosaur fossils, but if this is what you are going for, you will probably be disappointed.

What makes this science museum stand out from the rest is their dinosaur and paleontology exhibits. The facility is spotless and the people were great. The walking trails were a disappointment especially the purple trail. It’s an overgrown road with no shade and you never get close enough to the slough to see the water or the wildlife. Total waste of time even for a nature lover like myself. There was a beautiful scenic overlook on the blue trail and the water pictures are from it.

We loved the exhibits. Everything was clean and orderly. The shop was interesting, too. The microscope slides weren't great; it was very difficult to make anything out, and one of the microscopes was broken. My kids loved the 2-headed snake, all the fascinating creatures (mostly stuffed creatures, fyi), and the exhibits about endangered species in the region. It was a great way to spend 3 hours, but after that, we were definitely done. There just wasn't a lot to do interactively other than the microscopes (which were a bust) and the binoculars (seasonal bust; not the museum's fault, since most of the birds that would've been in that observation area are gone for the winter). So there wasn't really a "play" element to make the kids want to stay any longer than 2-3 hours, or come back again. Definitely worth the one-time trip, though!

This awesome museum is very state of the art and entertaining for the entire family. Very near the Mississippi Children's Museum

While visiting Jackson today my family of four (two kids under ten) greatly enjoyed the visit to the museum. We are from out of state (NY) and found all the staff to be polite and helpful. Our children loved the exhibits! My wife and I are educators and we want to point out that all the exhibit display signs are in large font, readable and easily visible and that made our children want to read about what they were seeing. We've been to plenty of museums where this is over looked. We can honestly say it was educational. We went during the day, during the middle of the week- we practically had the whole place to ourselves. We also took a short walk out on some of the nature trails.

What a great place to go to learn about the natural science of our state and region. We always enjoy our time there. Their changing exhibits give our citizens to learn more and more about flora and fauna of our state.

Really fun and informative place will definitely be back good for kids and adults very interactive and I highly recommend this place only took about 2 hours and that’s without doing the nature trail

A great place to take the grands for a couple o hours of fun. The aquariums and snake enclosures are their favorites. They even have a live two headed snake. All the exhibits are about right for young children. (7 and 5).

It was an on again off again rainy day so we decided to try the museum. What a nice surprise! People at front desk were very friendly...exhibits were great from aquariums with fish...to old fossils and bones. We hiked the trail during a lull in the rain...great trail! All in all worth the money to go and see!

Took my grandchildren and they loved the museum. Something to see everywhere you look. Extensive collection of all thinks nature and fun interactive exhibits.

Excellent attraction
Kids loved it and talked about it non-stop
We will certainly be visiting this excellent museum again

When you walk these trails, you do not feel like you are in MS or anywhere else in the south. The area seems untouched by man. Definitely recommended.

Great place to take kids. There was an animal exhibit going on. We were able to go on a hike. The whole family had a wonderful day.

Took my father here for a birthday trip! It was a wonderful place, well put together and well kept up. We spent about 2 hours here, but could have easily extended it if it weren't raining there were lots of trails outdoors.

Our family loves this museum! It is fun and educational for the children. We go a couple of times a year and enjoy it every time we go.

My wife and I visited the Museum on an inclement day, Wednesday, January 17th, 2018, in which public schools were closed and consequently had no school trips touring it. Our first impression of the facility wasn’t very good but the price of both of our tickets was only $10 after receiving or Senior discount. Once we arrived at the lower level exhibit area our impression of the Museum quickly changed for the good. The exhibits were all nicely arranged, informative, and appealing to either child or adult. We would love to return again in the spring or summer to see the walking trails, natural gardens, and beautiful landscapes.
Highly recommended.

it's the best pkace to spend a day
its a combo small things
1. small museum
2 small aquarium
3 indoor games for children
4 nice jungle for long walk

One of the best natural history museums in the South, if not the country. The layout flows in a logical, easily understandable manner and the exhibits are first rate in every respect. There are ample opportunities for children to interact and learn.

This was a great attraction for adults and children alike. There are a variety of activities and sights, including dinosaur bones, reptile display, dioramas, aquarium, and walking trails of varying levels. The layout is very guest friendly and the interactive quality was very engaging.

As all the other reviews have said this museum is a great benefit to the city. It has aquariums, fosil, and other collections. Additionally, it had walking paths to the local park behind it. It would make a great Saturday outing with having a good playground, picnic tables, etc. It's a great stop if you come to Jackson!

Amazing exhibits. Just the right size to do it in a day. Bring your walking shoes, there are great trails around the museum. Also, bring a snack. There is not a snack bar or anywhere convenient for food and you wont want to leave when you get there. The two headed snake will have us coming back over and over. They are a reciprocal museum for us so admission was free for our family but it is well worth the price of admission.

it was very enjoyable and interesting. The kids loved it. there were snakes, turtles and a large fish tank for them to enjoy as well as activities.

Very dated musuem. Shows wildlife that is common or was once common in MS. Has a lot of taxidemy--which I have missed feelings about. The aquarium is very nice. It is cheap to get in ($6) so it is a nice way to spend about 2 hours. This musuem would be incredible though with some updates and more interactive exhibits for kids.

We love this museum. The aquariums are mesmerizing! The exhibits were nice and informative. My boys thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We took advantage of the cool summer weather and walked on the trails. What a great place. We bought an annual pass so we can return in the near future.

We took our 2 kids, a boy (age 12) and a girl (age 7), and their grandparents to the Museum of Natural Science on a Saturday afternoon. Parking was free (even though there is a parking booth) and admission was $6 for adults and $4 for our kids. Their grandparents got a senior rate of $5. The parking fee is for people who do not want to actually enter the museum, but are just accessing LeFleur's Bluff State Park.
We attended a 45 minute show in the theater where a scientist/author had an interactive presentation with the all kids. She was a great speaker, and we all learned something and laughed. I would call the museum to see what shows are playing when you plan to visit.
After the show, we walked down the stairs to the main level. We saw the Grossology exhibit, which discussed aspects of science that relate to all kinds of animal bodily fluids and functions. This exhibit will be on display until December 30.Several volunteers were on hand to show the kids more interactive exhibits.
We also visited the aquarium where there were multiple tanks of Mississippi fish, turtles, alligators, and snakes. There was another section of the museum that had a large skeleton of a saber toothed cat, microscopes to look at leaves and bugs, and displays about Mississippi's trees, bugs, deer, bears, and birds.
At the rear of the exhibit there are doors to exit outside and walk along the trails. Some of the trails are paved, but most are gravel. We didn't get to explore them on this trip since it was raining.
We went back up the stairs to exit and visit the gift shop. It had reasonable prices on toys and knickknacks. There were food trucks outside the museum, but I'm not sure they are there all the time. It is probably best to bring a snack for small kids and plan on eating at a restaurant before or after your museum visit.
Both the adults and the kids had fun! I will return when they bring in a new exhibit!

Loved the displays and aquariums. Thank you John for showing me the two headed snake, the baby alligators, turtle and for giving me a lot of information. And thank you to the lady (sorry didn’t get your name) for showing me the cute opossum. Really glad I paid a visit.

One of the funniest things we have done in a long time. Great interactive exhibits. Learned a lot about our fears and how they effected us. A must see for anyone but especially anyone with kids because they have special kids exhibits. Go here if you are close!!!

My family (husband, 2 year old and myself) visited this museum for a family-fun day trip in the summer of 2012. We had a great time. We visited the Children's Museum first, then traveled on over to the MS Museum of Natural Science. My 2 year old had more fun at the Museum of Natural Science than the Children's Museum. The staff was pleasant, the exhibits were interesting. My 2 year old loved the live animals and so did I! I think it's a great exhibit, especially for the money! Will definitely visit again!

Wanted to take a field trip during the holidays, so the family took the drive to the museum, which we haven’t been to since it moved to its current location. We were very pleasantly surprised at the excellent placement within a large park with walking paths. The museum itself was spacious, although the gift shop was a bit small (but had lots of interesting stuff.) The dinosaur fossils and exhibits were good, but what we really liked were the live fish, amphibian, and reptile exhibits (even a two headed snake) as well as the multitude of very professionally mounted animals. There must have been every type of native state bird represented. Some serious planning and design went into this museum and Mississippi has a wonderful resource here for young and old alike. Every family within driving distance should make the trip!

We took our nieces and nephew to the museum almost a year ago. It is a large museum with many different exhibits. I've visited Jackson off and on for almost 3 years now and it seems the museum changes out their main exhibit pretty often, which helps keep it fresh and interesting. Even though all 3 children had been to the museum previously, they still found it enjoyable. The 3 adults who went also had a good time.
There's a part of the museum that has large aquariums with many different types of fish and turtles. It was definitely my favorite part of the museum. Outside, there are several nature trails. We did a very short one as the day was getting hotter and the kids were tired from exploring the rest of the museum. The one trail we did was well marked and well constructed.
Overall, the cost was not bad at all. Here are the prices:
Adults - $6
Youth Ages 3-18 - $4
Senior Citizens 60 and Over - $5
Children Under 3 - FREE
I'm looking forward to being able to go back sometime soon and check out their newest exhibit - goosebumps.

My son (6) and I loved the exhibits. Lots of cool fish and little alligators and turtles. So much to see and do!
If it's nice out, I suggest wearing tennis shoes and walking the trails out back down to the swamp area. My son loved seeing the trees growing underwater and the moss.

This museum is small but nicely done. Excellent exhibits and great aquarium. Nice nature trail and exterior exhibits also.

We enjoyed all the exhibits of the museum, it may not be the largest or the fanciest, but it has all the Mississippi charm it can put out. The museum highlights past and present animals of the Mississippi region. There are a variety of aquariums and tanks set up to showcase animals found throughout Mississippi. We enjoyed the dinosaur egg exhibit that in currently. The shark eggs completely blew our minds. The terrarium was fun to find all the animals trying to hide. The price includes access to the park and playground and you could easily spend several hours enjoying this area. Don't expect to be in a Smithsonian, although there is a huge per-historic whale hanging in the main room. There are lots of trails outside, but it was 29 degrees and windy, so we stayed inside.

This is a wonderful place to go with even older kids. My boys are 12 and 15. The price was 20.00 for all four of us to get in!!!

A must see for anyone interested in historic knowledge. Also very detailed information about the natural resources and creatures of Mississippi.

We were very pleased to discover this gem right beside our campground. Hats off to the team for setting up such interesting and educational displays. It was worth adding to our list while in Jackson!

Went with my 3 nephews 9, 11, 14, boy howdy. They were so full of energy, I just got out of the way and tried to keep up with them. Inside was as expected with all types of exhibits, fish tanks etc, and the Goose bumps was kinda neat. It was a little drizzling rain outside but I got them to go on the outdoor trail. Lots and lots of wooden platforms, stairs, got to let them boys burn some of the energy. They just sang along and ran along, I kinda kept up. I thought their should of been better signs, but it was OK. Very well kept facility.

This is a very good exhibit which can be explored reasonably well in about an hour. General admission is $5 and Seniors receive a $1 discount. Bus drivers or tour leaders are admitted free. The exhibits include many aquariums featuring fresh and salt water fish native to Mississippi and lots of Gators and reptiles. The featured attraction at present is an exhibit about wolves and dogs. This museum is worth a visit and maybe more than one.

The museum is decent. It's fairly small but the aquarium section is nice. Traveling exhibits are worth going though. the nature trails are also really nice as long as it isn't too hot.

We really liked this museum. It’s small but the walking trails are nice and the aquarium section is great! We are planning to return in the late spring to see everything in full bloom

We went today with a Sunday school group. It is a very nice museum. Lot of dinosaur bones, eggs, etc. They have an aquarium part with fish, turtles, and snakes. Another part had alligators and turtles. There is a nice nature trail you can take outside to look at birds. Very clean. Small gift shop but there are some reasonably priced things for kids to choose from. The museum admissions aren't to high either. $6 adults $4 kids 4-12 and 3 and under are free.
Very nice place to visit with your family. It's not a real big place so torn expect to be here for hours.

Located in a park like setting, this museum has all the exhibits one would seek in a natural history museum. There are displays tracing the development of people, life over past eons, and current flora and fauna. The museum has dioramas, fossils, and skeletons of extinct creatures. There are some short nature trails in the back, a couple of research classrooms, and a green house. Our favorite were the extensive aquariums. There are many species of fish behind wall high viewing areas. Additionally, there are reptiles and amphibians in well maintained displays. The museum is not extensive but it is complete in tracing the history and presenting the present natural environment of Mississippi.

It was very informative. We learned a lot from the nature exhibits and the Gross exhibit was awesome!!

This museum is very very fun. It mainly contains information on animals and is home to many. There are turtles, fish, frogs, snakes, alligators, snails, slugs, and worms. Although the museum is rather small if you do not go on any of the trails, I think it more than makes up for it.

There were plenty of things to see and discuss with another adult on a date. Also cool just to get kids out of the house. I’d go again

The aquariums are impressive and very interesting. The outdoor exhibits just past the aquariums are also nice. They have rotating exhibits as well. This museum is not only interesting, but the exhibits are well done and very interesting for those who live in Mississippi, or those visiting that want to know about our natural surroundings. The walking trail is very nice as well. This is definitely worth visiting.

We paid $5 each to enter, seniors rate. Some very good exhibits, the museum is not large but there is plenty to see. We liked it.

We have been to much bigger museums that didn't entertain me as well as this one did! I especially liked the dinosaur bones! Really worth a visit! I went with my 13 year old and my 8 year old. Both were equally enthralled. They liked the live animal exhibit of course! The two headed snake was a huge hit! The gift shop did not disappoint :) All in all, a great museum to check out.

Easy access just off I55 at Lakeland. Lots of interesting fossils. Giant sloths, giant beavers, giant bison, toothed whales, american lions, saber toothed cats, all made in MS eons ago. Great aquariums with native fish- like paddlefish, long nosed gar, blue and channel catfish, many others. Live venomous snakes of South, lots of different turtles, alligators. Well done, Mississippi!

This excellent museum has exhibits for everyone: wetlands, extinct species, endangered species; fossils, terrestrial habitats, aquatic habitats, environmental learing center, preschool room and an aquarium with all kinds of fish, aligators, turtles. Through large windows you can view different species of birds at several feeders, and the squirrels are fed too. This is really a fun place for the entire family. Admission is easy on the budget and there's plenty of parking. Worth a trip, allow several hours.

We went here towards the end of the day thinking a few hours would be enough time until we started walking the trails. There are some good views of the pearl river if you're willing to take the longer trail.

Mississippi Museum of Natural Science – This was a nice museum and fairly inexpensive. It was a little smaller than I expected. The aquarium portion was probably the best part. We were a little disappointed in the staff, having left two voicemail requests for a return call that never happened.

This is a fun museum if you are into nature and wildlife. We took our 8 month old and she loved to look at the fish. The outdoor trails are nice as well. Would be a fun outing if you only had about 2 hours to kill.

This museum was great! Interactive and interesting. I wish that I'd had my kids with us, because they would have loved it! I like just sitting and watching the turtles and alligators.

Fairly interesting exhibits, but probably better suited to people bringing children along. They have live fish and snakes in tanks which are much too small for them, which made me quite sad. Given that the museum is sponsored by lots of big companies, I'm surprised they're happy to put their names to such living conditions for live creatures.

This place is phenomenal and very educational. Seeing the double headed snake was freaky and you can learn a lot about birding.

This museum is full of knowledge that should be shared with all students from grades pre-K to 12. The interaction with natural science is an interaction that cannot be gathered from reading a text book.

The kids loved the animal displays. They usually have a special event several times a year featuring a theme or animal. Very friendly staff and nice facilities.

My kids enjoyed it and want to go back. Do you know how hard it is to find something the kids enjoy, that doesn't require a loan and is actually appropriate for kids? This is one of a very few places.

I have been here several times with my children and they all love it. My oldest son has been here on a field trip and he loved it then as well.

Today was a special snake day. Many stations were set up with volunteers sharing info about snakes and allowing children to touch snake skins, coloring a spiral snake, and receiving a special poster about poisonous and non poisonous snakes.
Children enjoyed the outing!

Visited for the Dinosaur exhibit, but, was impressed with the overall facility. Clean, well thought out, and entertaining. Everything, from the grounds to the gift store, was, everything we wanted for an afternoon. Truly recommend for all ages, especially children.

In addition to the museum, we enjoyed the walking trails located behind the museum. The exhibits are displayed very well.

We took the grandkids here for a couple of well spent hours. They were mesmerized by and loved the aquarium and the strange fish and reptiles that takes up one whole wall. They talked about it for days. The facility was really nice and the people very friendly and informative. Thanks!
Nice stop in Jackson Mississippi
We stopped here for a few hours on our drive to Memphis. My sons loved the exhibits. It is a smaller museum, but the cost for all four of us was $15. My sons had a great time and enjoyed the dinosaur fossils and exhibits.
