Great place- great staff- nobody bothered you just a all around excellent stay. Took RV and golf cart so we hardly ever moved the truck- would recommend.

Amazing State Park; NOT a "Gravel Parking Lot".

By Sew_Beckie |

Ok, Let's begin with - This is a STATE Park.. Not some commercially driven, for-profit, Privately ran RV ( campground ) Park...
.
Now with that out of the way... Let's begin.. Fair warning, I will also be addressing a few "bad reviews" I read before writing this review.. I am also a very outdoorsy type person, so this review will also include that aspect.
.
As with most STATE parks, this a nature driven location. Which means you get to experience the wildlife, fauna, forest, etc of the area.. That in which Mother Nature Produces naturally without too much interference from Human Beings... If this is NOT your thing, may I suggest any number of the Large Commercially driven, for-profit, privately owned RV parks in the area; & trust me there are A LOT of them for you to choose from..
.
Yes, there are racoons and squirrels and they KNOW that humans bring tasty things with them when they visit.. If you do NOT want to be bothered by these critters, may I suggest you make sure your food products and by-products are safely locked away; either in air tight coolers, your vehicles ( preferably in air tight coolers ) or your RV unit... In Colorado they have "bear" locks on the trash cans because, welp the wildlife has figured out how to get into the trash cans... So.. be grateful they aren't required here, YET... Although, I do believe a bit more training of staff to explain this to the visitors would be helpful...
.
As with most "rodent" wildlife, squirrels love to play on the roofs of RV's / Travel Trailers... If this is not something you enjoy - See above paragraphs. Also, if this "noise" bothers you or your dogs; .......
.
Site spacing... WOW... for anyone to think these sites are too close together, has obviously never stayed in a commercially driven RV Park.. The great thing about State Parks is the distance they put between their sites and the fact they do their best to leave the sites as natural as possible. This also means, there is NO concrete pads.. All leveling is done on packed sand and therefore not all sites are completely flat level..
.
Now I do have a couple of issues with this park.. Again one must remember this a government ran park that is supposed to be "all natural"...
1) when they installed their sewer lines, an "upgrade" to an old State Park; they installed them at a higher grade than most RV's. What this means is that your black water tank dump out will more than likely be lower than the actual inlet to the sewer hook up.. This causes a lot of "drama" when it comes time to drain your tanks.. You basically have to play see/saw - let the hose fill; then pick the hose up to drain it into the sewer. Either that or wait to clean your tanks as you leave. At that point there was no reason to pay the extra for full hook-ups.. Staff has stated they are hoping to increase the elevation on the sewer sites. Sadly, I do not seeing that being much of an option any time soon. Until then, plan to "raise" your unit..
2) The leaning trees... There are a number of sites where leaning trees cause A LOT of drama... One of these sites is 294 - STAY AWAY if you are longer than 25 ft or taller than a "standard" travel trailer... You seriously have to nearly graze the tree with your rig to get into it.. There is also one of these leaning trees on your way out of the park. So.. Just be mindful of the size of your unit and the leaning trees.
.
Many complained about WiFi issues... You are staying at a state park. Their moto, so to speak, is to make people get OUT of their units / comfort zone and interact with nature.. You can NOT do this if you refuse to leave your unit / camp... So.. Yes, they have wifi at ALL of their bathhouses - I have seen the antennas.. Their wifi also "surges"; another feature to get people off of it.. If it "crashes" you will find something else to do.. Now as a full-time'r - I have 3 wifi "extenders"... My roof mount Wingard is worthless here. Because of the double redirect splash page system, as well as the "surging"; it will not log into it. I also have a King WiFimax - it works fairly well.. I have had to reset it a couple of times due to their "surging".. The third is an actual external wifi antenna.. NOW ! ! ! ! ! & this is huge - - If you are wanting to use their "free" internet to stream videos, games, etc - NOT GOING TO HAPPEN... Their wifi is great for small devices and email.. It does not have the speed or capacity to stream.. Again they want you outside, not in you unit..
.
The fishing pier.. This is a sore bone to pick with a lot of people.. However it is not the only pier under construction because of recent storms.. It is however, a government owned pier.. Which means it must meet different standards, repairs must meet and costs are calculated differently.. I grew up on National Parks, so I fully understand all of these factors.. As for the visitors that continually whine about it not being opened. You want to know how to change that.. Write your government.. Believe it or not, write in campaigns actually do work.. So, put your time and writing skills where you put your ..... criticisms.. Park staff is just as tired of hearing about it being closed as you are about it being closed.. The difference is, you can do something about it, they can't...
.
My husband and I have stayed here as part of their "snow bird" special and are looking forward to staying at the park as locals after our house is finished. We have not survived a "season" here yet, that will happen in due time..

Myrtle Beach’s best kept secret.

By Goldwingtriker |

A great bargain, excellent location, beautiful property. I think the Myrtle Beach state park is one of the town’s best kept secrets. I’ve been camping here for over 50 years and I’ve never been disappointed. The RV sites are ample with about 50% of them with full hook ups. The bath houses are clean and well equipped. WiFi is availability throughout most of the campground.
The state park is located across from the airport on the South side of town.

Fun time fishing on the pier but don't forget your wallet

By allen s |

My wife and I came to Myrtle Beach to get in some relaxation and do some fishing from the piers in the area. The Myrtle Beach State Park pier was the second to visit on our trip. It was shorter that the first pier we visited the day before but it has a really nice covered area at the end so you could escape the sun if you wanted to but still only be steps away from your fishing rod. Also, the baitfish was schooling at the end of the pier and the sharks were putting on a show all day. If you did catch something of size you had better get it out of the water quick or the sharks would snatch it away. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because I thought is was a little pricey to visit. First you pay $8/per adult at the front gate to enter the park and then you pay $8/per adult to fish on the pier. So $32 seemed a little overpriced compared to the other piers we fished while we were there and thankfully it was it was just two of us. It can get expensive for a family of 3 or more.

Snow bird special

By EFW2014 |

We stayed for 5 weeks in the campground. All the staff we talked with were friendly and seemed to enjoy there jobs. Beach and beach access were clean. Horse rides were available a few days a week. Some of the sites flood out during heavy rain. We will be back in December.

Beautiful, Less Crowded Beach

By Amanda |

Beautiful, not crowded beach that was lots of fun for the kids. No craziness of the boardwalk- just beach.

No bathroom or changing facilities nearby would be our only complaint.

Advocate for reduction of noise levels made by business helicopters and planes

By Wellness A |

The noise levels from recreational helicopters repeating every 2 minutes and airplanes is very disturbing. The local authorities should take a stand to protect tourism in this area , tourists' and residents rights for quietude and relaxation and regulate the frequency of these planes and helicopters .

Best pier

By TNDuo |

This place is beautiful. Lots of trails through the trees. Longest pier around. Quiet beach. Campground spaces are all shaded and very private. Clean.

Quiet and Isolated

By corkyw |

MBSP is a well kept park away from but convienent to, all the amenities of Myrtle Beach itself. This time of the year there are virtually no other people to contend with. One has the beach and the Park and the town all to oneself.

Get Away

By Go789704 |

We have camped a MBSP for over ten years now..at least once a year..sometimes two or three. The park is always clean and the rangers are friendly and knowledgeable. The beaches are clean and for the most part, no more crowded than your average beach. Camping area has its own entrance to the beach, not private but further up from the public. Camping prices have gone up substantially since we first started coming here, but so have improvements to the CG, and costs in general...still a good deal for my dollar.

Wonderful Day Out ....

By charmaineshannon |

So peaceful and relaxing ..... not the Hustle and Bustle of the Beach Area's !! Nice Store with Souvenirs and Snacks, Clean and Maintained Rest Rooms !! Fishing Pier with all the Needed Supplies available !!

A nice way to see the ocean without all the tourist traps ...

By Edju1954 |

A nice way to see the ocean and walk the beach. My wife & I used our day pass & came back later to have a picnic. Too bad the pier was closed but renovations were being done to improve the pier. The gift shop was open & the staff was very friendly.

Locals favorite beach

By Monica A |

Being local to Myrtle Beach, my family and I have tried most of the public entry points. Myrtle Beach State Park is by far our favorite place to put down our chairs. The small entry fee is worth it. I always feel safe, unbothered, and the parking is easy. Pros: clean sand, moderate crowd, safe, family environment. Cons: the walk from the parking area to beach is a little long if you carry a cooler, the gift shop is sparce with only the basics so bring snacks/drinks.

Great place to RV or camp at the beach and pet friendly

By The Traveling Bostons |

This is our second time staying here and this campground and we love it. The campground is nice with plenty of spots and it’s always been a quiet campground with nice people camping and Rving. I love that it’s pet friendly and everyone seems to have their dogs with them which is always fun because I’m an animal lover. I do wish they would clean the bath houses and bathrooms better, not filthy but definitely needs a better bleach scrub down for a cleaner fresher feel. Showers have hot water which is very appreciated and since so many people RV here the bathhouses are never super busy when we have been which is also nice. Overall, it’s a beautiful park, close walk to the beach and has a pier and plenty of picnic tables to use under beautiful trees. They also have pavilions you can rent for family reunions or weddings. Let me know if you have any questions about this park and I’ll be happy to help!!!

Great Beach That Can Get Crowded

By KatWat39 |

We visited this beach while we were in the area. There's an entrance fee, but the place where we stayed had park passes to check out so we didn't have to pay. Check on that before going. There was a long line to enter, so it took about 30 minutes to get to a parking area.

Beach area is large and had lots of picnic shelters. Lifeguards were on duty. The pier is closed this summer. We took a picnic lunch and drinks for the day. They charge $40/day for umbrella and two beach chairs. Many resorts and hotels have some you can check out or rent for the day for much less. Or, cheaper chairs are available for purchase in the area. I didn't know this until later..

Restrooms are located at different intervals, so it is good to locate a beach area close to one if you don't want to walk.

I would go here again.

So Relaxing

By Terrance Ryan |

It was pretty warm outside and this is a great place to visit. It has a little forest area that you can hike through and picnic

Super Park

By gamlady2 |

Well maintained, clean, not crowded , clean bathrooms and plenty of parking. Would definitely bring the family

Quiet beach with starfish!

By Melb12 |

What I liked most about this state park, as I usually do with most beach state parks, is that it isn’t crowded and it is more family friendly. It is, however, more pricey than other beachfront state parks I have been to, charging by the person, not the car. I enjoy the natural aspects of the state park, like the starfish in the tide pools and how the people there are there for the same reasons as my family, peace and tranquility.

Best kept secret

By Jim O |

It's a small park compared to others in the state, but where else can you enjoy a pristine beach right in Myrtle Beach. Their is a pier to fish on, a nature center and trails to explore and enjoy. Make sure you catch the sunrise and sunset when you are at the park. Camping is available and they have cabins to rent. Lots of wildlife to see and a very nice staff.

Great stay!!!!

By Leo B |

We spent the last 17 nights at the Myrtle Beach State Park Campground,it was excellent.
We had a nice site with easy access in and out. The staff was very friendly and helpful! The bath houses we nice and well spaced out.
The beach is great with good surf fishing!
I highly recommend you give them a try when in the area!!!

Wonderful place to relax

By GrandmaSnyder1 |

The state park pier is our destination when we walk on the beach clean washrooms great coffee at the pier store

Triple Threat!

By DisneyDarwin |

First, this is an outstanding destination for a beach day with lovely, long, white sand beaches with good surf and a smooth bottom. But, you can also go fishing, visit the very well-supplied gift shop, or hike the grounds and visit the nature center. A true gem of a park.

Quick Beach Getaway

By wren52681 |

The beach at Myrtle Beach State Park is very clean, and definitely a lot less people there than on the "regular" beach. The park is pretty big and offers cabins as well as "lots" to camp in or bring your RV or camper. The rangers and staff that I came across were very nice and professional. I went down on a Monday morning to see sunrise, and it was breath taking. Unfortunately there was no access to the pier, as it was pretty damaged during a hurricane last year, and they are repairing it. There was also a bunch of sea turtle nests that were roped off, and if you call the office, they will let you know when "inventory" is, where you can come down and watch a ranger dig up the nest to see if there are any little ones that couldn't make it to the top. I wasn't able to stay, but my friend went back later that night, and she saw 4 little sea turtles that apparently were not strong enough to climb all the way through the sand to the top of the ground. Once they were out, they started scurrying to their way to the beach. I will make sure that next time I plan my trip around Sea Turtle Inventory!

Good Experience

By PaulBeve |

Have been here several times to camp and always enjoy it. It was hot but not bad sitting at the campsite in the shade with fans. Only felt the need to go into the camper one afternoon to get some AC.

Some sites are very close to each other. VERY CLOSE. We like the out loop sites, more privacy and larger sites.

Do not arrive prior to 2PM, they do not allow check-in until then. This is well documented and is what it is.

Water in June was very refreshing. We found going to the beach in the late afternoon was great, less people and after the hottest part of the day.

Yes, you are in the flight path of the airport. The planes do not bother us. It is isn't like they are follow the leader, there is quite a bit of time between planes so it isn't a constant bombardment hampering conversations as some other reviews make it sound.

There is wife through out the campground. It is pretty much useless, even at 6:30AM. When/if you can connect it rarely was even usable to check emails.

If you ware interested in the touristy aspect of MB this is a good location.

Stop to stretch legs

By James I |

After breakfast decided stop at the state park, to kill time to check out. The park is clean, staff is friendly. The neat thing about park is that park located near local airport. Neat to see and hear the planes coming in. We drove though camping area it seem like great area to camp, with many sites. At the time the pier was closed. The beach was also great

fun family time at the beach

By Jessica H |

Beautiful trees and a wonderful spot to visit! There is a small fee to enter the park and then walk to the beach.

Great vacation!!

By Leo B |

My wife and I just spent two weeks camping at Myrtle Beach State Park campground. It was really great! The sites are really nice, well space and well set up. The bath houses are clean and well taken care of! The staff is very friendly and pleasant to talk with!
I highly recommend you give them a try when camping in the area.

The best RV and camping park in Myrtle Beach.

By P Mack |

Myrtle Beach State Park is located right off 17 bypass. Nestled in the gorgeous wooded grounds. Run by SC Park system. Incredibly neat clean organized with exceptional staff.
We had an incredible spot on the beach. Fabulous views. Park is right on the beach of the Atlantic ocean. Fabulous pier. Great for a stroll scenic vistas and of course fishing. Great shop as you pass into the pier. Gift shop a short walk away. Many walking trails and an interactive nature center. Plenty of parking and really nice folks. Sunbathe on the beach swim and surf cast for your dinner while camping. RV sites go fast so book way ahead. You will love it here.

Did some hiking in the park

By Robert L |

We were staying at the Bluewater Resort on Ocean Blvd. It was a quick easy drive to the park.

Admission was a snap, and parking a breeze.

We enjoyed hiking a few trails, and taking some pictures. Fishing poles were available in the shop on the pier and they appeared to sell out, so if you plan on fishing, I recommend getting your fishing gear early.

We will definitely visit again

One of S.C. Most Beautiful Parks

By Anthony P |

This state park takes up space on one of the prettiest beaches in the United States. Complete with a little shop and a beautiful pier, this is only the start of this amazing park. In addition, here you will find miles of trails and abundant wildlife, picnicking areas galore, playgrounds, lifeguarded swimming areas, a nature center and an activity center, and camping and cabins for overnight stays. Amazing little park and incredible value due to S.C. parks system.

great clean beach with lots to offer

By Wm_Haws |

From camping to relaxing on the beach this State park has it all. bike trails, beach, camp sites from tents to motor homes. the beach has restrooms and a pier with a store.
to much to describe but it is worth the 5 dollar a day pass

Ok

By PinchOnTheGo |

The beach itself is nice and wide although rather a dull color, The park did not have the usual atmosphere of a state park, it was more open and crowded feeling. The bathrooms were big and nice and the was a large, nice laundry room.

Just visiting

By michael b |

Great time with the family as we walked the pier and played in the edge of the water. We watched the fishermen as they cast their rods and we sat at the end of the pier and rested. Met some wonderful people whom we engaged in conversation. It made for a good day.

Walked to the pier every morning

By Bridget S |

Walked from Pirateland to the State Park pier. Lots of good buys in the store. Walked onto the pier to watch the fishermen. Thanks for not charging admission.

member entrance

By Barbb |

This is a great place to relax and enjoy the beach - fishing pier (under construction right now), gift shop, picnic groves and more. The only thing about the Park - they should have a seperate entrance for members.....if you do not get to the park before 10am you will be waiting in line to get thru the gate - in season that line could take you out onto and down the side of the highway......other than that its a great place

Be ready for a long wait at entrance!!!

By Frustrated |

We thought this looked like a good place to go for a leisurely walk but getting into the park is very unorganized. Line of at least 25 cars and the line barely moved…20+ minute wait in traffic…not sure if it worth the wait.

Beautiful Beach and Walking Trails

By Anne O |

We camped at a nearby RV resort, so we just made a day trip to the park. The beach is very nice - not as crowded as those in Myrtle Beach. We walked a few of the trails which are easy to navigate. Signs describe plant and animal life along the trails.

Best place on the beach

By Riley B |

Regular visitor to the MB beach. Never have to worry about parking, clean restrooms and you can always find a place on the beach. No rif-raf or safety concerns. Love it!!

An absolute gem

By Garyonwheels |

Get away from the high rises and see a wild beach and coastal woods. Great short hiking trails through the woods. Wildlife. Beautiful beach.
Great campground with many full hookup sites. Large private sites. Makes you feel isolated from the madness of “tourist town”.

Cabin stay

By BirderCroakie |

Friends and I spent a weekend in cabin 6 at Myrtle Beach SP. This is a very nice cabin with a large common room with comfortable seating for 5, a screen porch with table and chairs, dinner table with seating for 8, complete kitchen except for dishwasher. There are 4 bedrooms and it is all very nice%

Hiking trails are weak

By daearz77 |

Our daughter is a huge fan of birds, so we went here in the hopes of some good hiking. Trails are very short and don’t lend well to seeing a lot of wildlife. One of the ladies working the front gate was extremely rude and got us off to a rough start at the park. We are state pass holders and have never had someone act the way she did when we came rolling in. We would not recommend this park.

Excellent beach

By Jim J |

We have the annual pass which allows us to visit as often as we like...even at peak times the beach is never too crowded to enjoy.

I do wish they had lifeguards but the beach patrol does a good job.

Great day at the beach!

By Jim D |

We visited on a day that was less than ideal, due to high winds. The park itself is a great place to hit the beach. Parking is plentiful at only $5 per car. There is a beach shop where you can get refreshments or beach gear. The beach stretches for miles in both directions. Bring a blanket or even better some chairs, due to the wind. Our blanket didn’t work too well that day because the wind was picking up the sand and beating us. On a normal day you can walk the beach or play in the surf. Great for families.

Great State Park

By Cindy C |

Easy to get to. Beautiful park right on the ocean. Lots of cool amenities and beach nature. Great day trip for a family or tourist.

Beach was enjoyable!

By Jennifer r |

We visited the beach on a holiday weekend. It was busy, but I did not feel crowded on the beach. The beach was very clean (no trash). The pier offered a wonderful view and fun place to fish from if you are interested.

Everything I needed and close to everything else!

By butterflies1017 |

We took our 30ft TT to camp here, site #335 FHU, August 21-24, 2023. This was all we needed, as a place to relax in between beach time! So wonderful to have this property with its own easy access on to the beach. The beach is CLEAN and very soft to walk on. The pier is $FREE$ to walk on, unlike many other cities I've visited. This entire park has small education stations along the way, identifying wildlife/plants/trees. The park staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The nature trails are nice and quiet, absolutely no breeze back there, so it was HOT! I purposely waited until the end of August, in hopes that many would be back to school....and it was pretty nice!! Many campers had dogs, though there are particular hours posted when the dogs can and can not be on the actual beach, depending on the season. I did not bring my dog on this adventure, he gets too hot, easily. Located so close to shopping, mini golf, many food options- including HUNGRY HOWIES PIZZA that delivers to your site!!!! If you used to be a midwesterner, you understand that!! Yes, it is right next to the airport, so you will have the aircrafts come right over this section of the beach and campground, but you also get the awesome views of some military aircrafts as well. The picnic tables are stable and if you need to use them, I'd suggest bringing the elastic covers for both the benches and the table top, as the wood in pretty worn and a little dirty/damp. The fire pits have grates to cook on, which is nice.
Only a 20 minute drive to go see the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, a minor league team for the Cubs. Here you can even get a Chicago Dog, so a few of my Michigan/Illinois foods were covered in this trip!
Campsites really vary in length/width and some have fairly tight entrances, so do your homework if you are bringing something large or with slides. Circle 6 is a nice place to be, tucked in back.

Myrtle Beach SP wonderful place to visit

By Donna K |

Great beach getaway! Campground, cabins, pier, plenty of space on the beach, nice trails. Well maintained. I would go here any season - love the scenery.

Beautiful Beach

By Roger H |

Go to Myrtle Beach in the off season to enjoy its natural beauty. It is a gently sloping, almost flat beach. part of it is white sand (actually a light grey) and has areas cluttered with seashells. It is an excellent beach on which to walk and exercise.

Geocaching ruined for our family

By Cailin M |

Tried geocaching for the first time with our new state park pass.

No trails noted near office. We have three small children and we’re not going to walk along the edge of the woods until we found it.

Lady at office says “it’s no fun if I tell you”.
Cool. It was also no fun for the kids to drive around looking for a trail. ✌🏻

Young Lady at the nature center was super friendly and took pictures for our family!!

Nice walking trails and access to beach

By djreinzan |

Nice place to check out, besides the trails, camping area, and several access points to the beach, there is also a small building to see some wildlife exhibits and plant identifications.

Great walk for all ages

By Jerry M |

Nice place to visit. We even saw dolphins swimming near by!! Watched them for over 20 minutes flipping in the air.

Hidden away on the south end

By DATMYRBCH |

Have heard good things about MBSP, like clean, uncrowded, private, nice beach. Did not disappoint. Easy parking, easy beach access, nice pier, restrooms that are not trashed, and a clean, well kept beach. Will be back.

Great getaway while in Myrtle!

By Ohio To The World |

You pay to get in, but it is worth it for the near empty beaches and scenery. Shelling was so much fun here, and we made an entire day of it. Great little gift shop near the beach as well, where we found wonderful local souvenirs!

Great place to camp!

By Jennifer J |

We LOVE camping here- away from the big overpriced campgrounds- this is a peaceful shaded place in the woods with fantastic beach access!

Met up with a horseback riding group here

By Betty L |

We made arrangements with GrandStrand Horseback Riding to meet at the park and take a beach ride. what we didn’t expect was to pay a park admission fee on top of the riding fee. Certainly not the park’s fault but we should have been told by the horseback riding place when we booked our ride

Great place

By JoeSizemore |

Stayed in the campground in our travel trailer for 9 nights- this is a very nice place and easy beach access- employees are friendly and cost is very cheap- we used to stay in the RV Resorts but they priced themselves out of customers like us.

Beach day

By roger h |

Nice state park on the coast. Quite area. Easy access. No beach rental equipment. Has gift store with some food and drinks

Great place on the beach

By Timothy L |

There are picnic areas, pavilions and a gift shop with ice cream. You can walk on the pier or stay at the campground. Bathrooms are easily accessible from the beach.

Lovely

By Sharon H |

Near downtown MB, clean, lovely, quiet. Nice camping area. Clean bathrooms. Nice pier and gift shop. Picnic shelters. Dogs and horses (off season) are allowed on the beach.

great..

By Marylou H |

the weather was not that warm..but the beach was great to see..very nice and clean..it was only 5 mins away from were we stayed at but it was great to go see the beach..

Trails and Beach Access

By Terrihav |

We came here to walk our dog on the trails. The trails were very nice but we had to walk them very quickly. The mosquitoes here are rough and if you stopped they would get you. I get bit a lot but my husband doesn’t usually and he had several bites. It would have been smart of us to use the Off that was back at the hotel.

After our quick trail walk it was early enough to take our dog on the beach. Dogs are allowed on the beach before 10AM and after 5PM this time of year. We walked along the beach and then my husband stopped in the gift shop to get a park sticker. It was a nice visit.

First ocean fishing experience

By Marlene |

It was kind of disappointing because this was probably the only day of the year that the concession stand was closed for inventory! Bummer : (
First time to Myrtle Beach really enjoyed the ocean waves, and talking with the fishermen on the pier. Learned a whole lot about reeling in the fish from the elder-statesmen of fishing.
It was also a place to learn about the circle of life. In the matter of seconds I went from wanting to sing "Baby Shark" to
the DA-DUM,DA-DUM from the theme song from "Jaws"! Kind of scary to see. Reminds you that there are wild things out there that you need to watch out for. It is their habitat that you are visiting.

One of the Best Beaches on the East Coast!

By SailOnTommy |

It would be hard to over-state how remarkable is MB State Park. It is, quite literally, a couple miles from what is probably the BUSIEST beach in America. But laying on it, you'd never know that. There's not a building in site. The water, much of the year, has that "aqua" look to it due to the Gulfstream sweeping in. MB State Park allows you access to all the craziness of Myrtle Beach - with the lazy beauty of a distant beach. Enjoy!

South Carolina Has Great State Parks.

By michaelsF8241KC |

Myrtle Beach State Park is really a nice place to visit. We took our dogs, which are allowed after Labor Day. The park has a large beach area and a fishing pier. There is camping available. We will go back, it a good place to go.

Sewer pipe too high

By Paul A |

Full hook up sites are terrible. We’ve camped in a lot of places, but by far this was the worst in terms of a full hook up, set up. The sewer pipe is really high off the ground. That means, we couldn’t let gravity do the work to offload our black and gray tanks. They had to be nursed through the hose. Not fun. I didn’t notice any sites throughout the campground where the sewer hose was flush with the Earth to allow for gravity. It sure seems like a design flaw to me.
Otherwise, the campground was great, wooded, quiet, and very close to the beach.

Beautiful beach and walking trails

By OceanGirl88 |

What a great surprise we found when on vacation. We went for the beach and pier access, and was pleasantly surprised by the nature hiking trails! A must do!

Camping at Myrtle beach state park.

By ChristyLouJohnson |

Camping at sites 80 and 81. Bath house is directly across the street and is one campsite down from the trail to the playground. Camp sites are very close together. It was a good mix of tents and travel trailers. Electric and water hookups available as well as picnic table and fire ring. Very short walk to the beach. They have a store/ gift shop and they also have a laundry area. We had a great time and would definitely do it all over again.

Far from the Maddening Crowd!

By DebbsDebbs |

We’re from the West and just driving through Myrtle Beach for the day. We had never been here and we had NO idea how crowded and commercialized the city was. Wow! I found the Myrtle Beach State Park and knew this was where we needed to go. There’s an entrance fee that’s worth every penny! The park is beautiful with many beach access points. It’s a lovely place to experience the beach.

Nice beach

By Brian S |

The pier was closed for work but the park was open- nicely kept up but nothing to write home about. Nice gift shop as all the parks have, and clean restrooms.

visited daily with pass!

pass needed or daily fee, but beautiful beaches, facilities, picnic areas and playgrounds. Most access walkways include steps, but there is a ramp walkway at the southern end!! Horses walking along beach in areas are beautiful!! Very enjoyable!!

Enjoyed

By MarleneFry |

Loved being able to walk out on the pier (end still closed due to hurricane damage) and watch the fisherman fish. Pigeons perched on the railings unlike Sea Gulls in MI! They have 4 very nice shelters; 8 boardwalks leading to the beach; a gift shop; an activity and nature center plus walking trails. Because we enjoy camping, we drove through the campground. Loved the site sizes and the fact that water was included PLUS a large amount of them even had sewer included! Wish we had a State Park like this at home.

Baker's sugar

We decided to go to the State Beach, and what a good decision it was! It is located on the Grand Strand (a miles-long beach with white powdery sand and dunes) with a long wharf which stretches out into the ocean and has resultant great ocean breezes. We spent about a half hour soaking up the ambience, then walked along the surf-line for about another half hour. So Good! I loved the walking trails too: they wind thru the trees and its easy to find yourself alone with your thoughts. On a second visit we brought a picnic lunch and enjoyed it on one of the benches, under one of the large oak trees. To me, this is the best beach experience on the Strand

Gorgeous beach area

Wonderful walking trails, beautiful views, allows horseback riding, biking...pier gives some great views and possible dolphin sightings

peaceful escape from the crowd

nice state park with a large and less crowded beach. maybe less crowded because you need to pay to enter park but its not too expensive if you want a little peace

Great location and great Park

By Mark I |

We loved Myrtle Beach State Park. All of the campsites that I saw had trees covering the site to keep them nice and cool Everything was well maintained our campsite was absolutely pristine. The beach was not overly crowded and very easy to either walk, bike or drive to.

One of our favorite campgrounds!

By ahughes381 |

We were so pleased with this campground! It's beautiful, with lots of tall trees and relatively private sites. The grandkids were able to ride their bikes and play at the playground and the beach is very close by. It's also very quiet at night. The only complaint we had with our site was that the sewer hookup was elevated in such a way that it made it difficult to drain our hoses properly. On looking around, it seemed there were others who had to "elevate" their hoses to try to alleviate this problem.

Great fishing and very clean park

By B.Pop |

A great fishing Pier and very clean park. You can rent fishing gear at the tourist shop. We did not camp but hope to in the future. The park looked very clean and comfortable for families.

Find another place to stay

By Regina A |

We went at the end of October in our Rv. It’s beautiful and close to the beach. However, the loudest campground that I have ever been too. I will NEVER return here! There was music thumping from nearby bar or resort until midnight. It thumped all day long for 3 days! There was also CONSTANT screaming from guests in nearby cabin. Oh ya, there is also a nearby airport so the planes were loud too! So much for a peaceful weekend at the beach.

High Summer at Myrtle Beach State Park

By John S |

The Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area is well known to have a carnival-like and busy commercial atmosphere, but Myrtle Beach State Park is a clear contrast. Being heavily wooded and having a generous stretch of beach, it is popular with day visitors and campers alike. The pine forest is thick enough to deaden most of the traffic noise except for the harsh clatter of motorcycles and semi-trucks.

On our repeat visit at the end of July 2024, we are dodging daily thunderstorms and relieved when the sun comes back out. Having about 247 campsites in six road loops, we are surprised to see a large quantity of tent campers besides the RV’s. The short walk to the beach reveals all of the red warning flags flying due to the rough surf.

The park is full to the brim this time, and a steady stream of bicycles, golf carts and scooters makes you want to stay alert so you aren’t run over! Folks are walking happy dogs as well on the loops, and pulling wagons with beach gear and young kids in tow. The sudden noise of large jets from the area’s primary airport makes you look up in amazement at how low to the ground these are, only a few hundred feet up. Fortunately most of the air traffic stops between 10pm and 6am.

Our 20-foot long Keystone is one of the humbler varieties and easily fits into space 241 with room to spare. Each site has a picnic table and fire-ring provided. We drive up to the entrance in the pickup to shorten the walk to the beach, only five minutes more. There is no way to prevent tracking the muddy sand into the entranceway of our camper. We see a steady parade of low-flying tourist helicopters looking northwest, over the Springmaid pier area. The state park’s pier is to the right, a popular place for fishing and also featuring a large souvenir shop that serves ice cream too.

For campers the RV area has several bath houses with hot showers and a smaller store attached to a laundromat. There is also a small nature museum that young children would find interesting when the weather makes beach time impractical.
Day visitors can enjoy making burgers and hot dogs at any of several open shelters near the beach with picnic tables inside, or many tables under large shade trees between multiple parking areas.

It is wise to plan ahead to make RV reservations, which can be done online or by calling the office.
We found MBSP to be a desirable destination, which has the added advantage of being just a short ride up & down highway 17 to enjoy restaurants and shopping. Don’t forget your flip-flops!

Great time!

By Chelsie C |

We stayed here in lot 296 for a week, we highly enjoyed the park/staff! The convenience to the beach and everything really was so nice! You can walk to the beach within 10 min from our lot in the back! Yes this park is close to the airport- no it was not an issue for us! It’s loud yes but with your air on in the camper its not bad and it’s not like you hear them non stop daily. Our only real complaint was the mosquitoes! Holy cow! Could not even enjoy sitting outside without being eaten alive, but it’s the south and there is a lot of standing water around these lots. Privacy is a huge plus here! Also 298 beside us was a great lot, massive!

Nice area for camping too

By Zeb |

Very nice park/beach. we stayed at the campground for 3 nights and enjoyed it. We had fully hook up's and internet (spotty). 5 min walk to beach.

Love the ospreys!

By Lee Ann E |

This is a park with a terrific beach and lots of picnic tables. We don't fish, but quite a few people were fishing from the pier. We hiked a loop trail through the maritime forest and then watched osprey flying over the waves catching fish. Very nice!

I wish I had visited in the Spring!

By cblauhorn |

Because I could see the skeleton of what would be when the trees and plants were blooming! I'm sure it's stunning! As it was it was still very interesting! There were signs explaining natural phenomenon around walking trails and there were horse back rides along the beach! I felt the price of admission was a little high since it was the off season but the receipt did get us into other SC state parks that day. Also a disappointment was that the pier was closed for repair. (I understand why! Hurricanes are relentless!). Since we are from the Midwest, I would have loved to walk out over the ocean. Nevertheless, it was still pretty! The natural shore line was so neat with the vegitation growing tall on either side of the parking lots! Also, the windswept trees and miss covered trees in the picnic areas were super neat for someone who's new to "the south"! I recommend a visit! And I really hope to get back in the spring when things are blooming! Or during the summer when the turtles are nesting!

Nice beach

By Mick H |

We went there for shelling but there was really none at that time... it is a nice beach. We walked out on the pier and the store was kinda neat.

park run

By missyjohndeere |

Park was nice not alot to see other than the ocean smaller than some we've been to. Cost was $10 to get in.

Fun visit to the beach

By Katie1211 |

We visited the beach near the pier and really enjoyed ourselves. The $5/person fee seemed a bit steep for the time we spent, but I don’t feel ripped off. It was nice to have restrooms and parking nearby. If we had visited the beach along the main strip, we would have had to pay something for parking anyhow and wouldn’t have had easy access to restrooms (at least from what we could find).

Nice quiet spot

By Avi S |

The area for bbqs is really nice and quiet, although a little windy if you're using charcoal. The pier for fishing is also pretty cheap and spacious.

Beautiful

Another one of my favorite spots in Myrtle Beach. I only wish it were easier to get reservations here!

This park is untouched like it orginally was way back when. Sand dunes and not commercial. Nice! Was a bit too hot to really enjoy it . Would love to have gone to the nature center on the property but it was too hot

Overhyped

By CJProma |

We used to always vacation here but as we all got older we have opted for better weather, nicer beaches, and cleaner water. So it’s worth it but there are some other beautiful places less crowded and touristy not much farther.

Very serene, great beach!

A great family experience with lots of walking trails. Very clean and safe. Well worth the modest entrance fee.

Ok, Huntington much better

By scotttimkim |

We walked the 2 trails. The map could be improved. Best part was the pier...very nice shelter at the end with seating.

Heat wave but still fun day

By Mcdrog |

Dunes were off limits due to turtle having laid eggs, but we were good with that. Their shop is really priced low for kids to go in a get stuff. State park books and info is all free which I though there South a Carolina state park book was REALLY COOL! Visit all state parks and get your book stamped at each and get a free T-shirt. That’s neat

Great beach

By ross8783 |

Clean beach. Warm water. Good time spent with family. Lots of shells. Lots of families visiting the area.

Peaceful park to explore for a couple of hours

By Anna H |

The Myrtle Beach State Park is a very quiet and serene place to visit. You can walk through hiking trails; very easy for beginnings and short enough to walk with young children. They have a pier at the beach that you can walk along and watch the fisherman try to catch a few. Great for overlooking the ocean and people-watching the folks on the beach.
Although they have an activity center, it did not open until 11:30 so we did not get to see it. This place is great for campers and has quite a few occupied campsites. The trails are clean and easy to follow.
Was able to see everything within about 2 hours. Unless it is peak season, do not plan to go there for the full day as there is not enough to do.

Beware of criminals and theft!

By Joe4192 |

We were at this beach for 2 hours. During that time, someone broke into our locked vehicle, broke the glove box lock, and stole 2 wallets. Ruined the end of our trip. We were clearly targeted by some trashy people who knew what they were doing. For a safer option, with more things to do, I’d highly recommend Huntington Beach state park instead.

Cool State Park that has a beach!

By Mr.S Travel Quest |

We love visiting state parks and on my recent travels to the east coast we decided to take a detour. We visited South Carolina Myrtle Beach State Park. The park has two small trails that lead to the beach. The trails are well shaded and considered easy difficulty. Make sure to pack some bug spray!!! The trails lead to the beach which is beautiful and wasn't too crowded on our visit. The pier is free to walk on, but must pay if you decided to fish. We spent a few hours at this park and would definitely recommend checking it out.

Good Visit

By PaulBeve |

Camped here for a long weekend about a week after Hurricane Ian. No issues from the storm in the campground. Some of the board walks to the beach had been destroyed and the pier was closed due to damage.

All the staff we dealt with were great and had a sense of humor.

Had FHU site so didn’t use the bathrooms much. However, they were a little better
than the standard SC State Park bathrooms

The park is in the landing/take off flight path of the airport. So there will be low aircraft traffic all day long. There are not flights during the nighttime.

All utilities at the campsite were fine. Sewer connection was a little high but not a big deal.

We stayed on the last loop which has some nice sized sites and privacy. You can hear some traffic (sirens, people trying to impress others with the loudness of their engines) noise from HWY 17.

We come here in the offseason as the traffic is not as crazy. It is a good time to go if you want to enjoy some of the touristy stuff Myrtle Beach has to offer. I would stay here way before staying in any RV Resort. We don’t need all the stuff they offer and don’t want to be packed in like sardines.

Good Beach Just South of Main Drag

By mjvinson |

This was our starting point for a weekend in Myrtle Beach. It was spacious and pretty nice, just south of the main hotel area of Myrtle, making it a little better to stretch out and walk along. It is definitely worth a stop when in town.

!
Safe environment

Three days in touristy Myrtle Beach State Park.

By Luv2vacation |

The campground sites are very close together. The showers were very dirty with no hot water. At least the stall I used anyway. Personal hygiene products left on the floor of the shower. This speaks more to the person that made the mess as to park personnel who can’t be everywhere! The beach is narrow and quickly got crowded on this Monday morning. Not everyone followed the no alcohol rule. No tents or canopies on the beach but umbrellas can be brought or you can rent one from beach concessions.
The park also sits at the end of one of MB International Airport runways. Pretty noisy but if you’re an aviation buff, this park could be for you.
There are nice trails in the woods and walkways to the beach with many informational signs about local flora and fauna. Many pluses and the place is better than Indiana!!

Quiet and peaceful

By Jeanna N |

$5 admission fee per person was worth the peace and quiet on the beach! Everything was clean and relaxing. Would definitely go back.

Great sightseeing spot

By W175WHkathleenb |

This is a beautiful park and the employees are wonderful. You can sit in a rocker and have a coffee taking it all in. Or walk the pier and see the fishermen and sharks! Look up and down the coast , walk the beach, have a picnic, icecram and a great gift shop. So much to do even camp!

What a hidden gem!

By Goldwingtriker |

We love camping at the MBSP. We spend a month here in January. Not all sites have full hook up, choose carefully. It’s clean, convenient and just feet from the ocean. Love this place!

Things to consider when making camping reservations

By Emily L |

Cons - It's very near the airport. Flights start 6:30ish end 10:30ish. It's loud. Far too many people and too many vehicles allowed on a small tent site. 3rd world looking. Dog poop is common next to the walk to the beach. The bathrooms are cleaned once in the morning. There are over 300 campsites. They look rough late in the day. Beach patrol picks up beach trash every morning. It's a lot. Many pick up after themselves. Some never do. It's a shame. Pros - Kids and families everywhere. Kids on bikes. It's safe. The property is beautiful. The volunteers are friendly and hard working. The store is clean and stocked. Many shaded sites. The beach gets crowded near the pier especially weekends. During the week is nice.

Nice State park with loads of activities and Convenience to other attractions

By 4adventures |

We had a great time here with friends. Lots of opportunities for activities, really enjoyed fishing from the pier (locals can be friendly), walking the beach, sitting in your hammock among the trees. Staff was very friendly. Campground was found to be accessible and fairly clean. You could tell the hosts are quick hit and out - not all micro trash was being picked up.

If you need them, restrooms were clean during out stay. Showers are at best camp showers. Need new shower heads, some were broken others were like what I would say is like taking a shower with a waterpik. This was true in two of the shower houses we used and hot water was hit or miss.

Campsites are direct to the ground, can be messy and muddy during periods of rain. We found Power to be stable and water clean.

As a side note, the main highway and a airport are almost directly behind the park, so air craft and loud vehicle noise can be an issue.

Our experience with the Park Rangers, staff, hosts and Pier store were very friendly and outgoing.

We would return...the answer is yes.

A lovely place to visit

10$ an adult gets you in. A lovely woodlands walk through to the beach and the fishing pier.

The beach was beautiful and sharks off the pier.

Just Go.

By Charles T |

First of all my wife and I are full timers in our 40’ Tiffin motor home. This is one of the best State park campgrounds we’ve stayed. The beach is just over the dunes and a easy walk to get there. The staff is great. The campsites are nicely laid out in the trees with plenty of room in between. They will place you in a spot that’s appropriate for the size of your motor home or trailer and depending on what hook ups you require. You’ll love it.

Great Beach

By Vin |

Great clean sage beach that you could stay all ay and also have a bbq. You pay for parking or you pay yearly, you are allowed to leave and come back same day. Has rest rooms which is important.

The park has much to offer for the entire family. Staff is friendly and helpful and the park is very clean

Camping near the Beach

By BJMWilson |

Lovely wooded campground within walking distance to the beach. Trails to hike in the park, plus the East Coast Greenway, for walking and biking, near by. Wonderful experience. The only negative during our November trip was that the fishing pier was closed for repairs.

Not the worst ….beautiful beach!

By Kim A |

This was our first time to camp here. We have a 38ft. Fifth wheel. 2 small dogs. Our campsite was a basic sight. All of the sites are very crammed in there and tight. Water pressure not really great. But, it is over 300 camping spots most of them filled. We drove to the state park beach which was very nice. I do wish they had a dog run that was fenced in. Our neighbors for the most part were great Noise was at a minimal. A lot of kids on bikes and golf carts. They do need to monitor the breeds of dogs that are being brought into the park

Great stay!!!!

By Leo B |

We spent the last 14 nights at the Myrtle Beach State Park Campground,it was excellent.
We had a nice site with easy access in and out. The staff was very friendly and helpful! The bath houses we nice and well spaced out.
The beach is great with good surf fishing!
I highly recommend you give them a try when in the area!!!

Just So-So

By Mark B |

We camped in an RV here for five days. We had a full hookup site. The sites here are spacious enough but they are packed pretty close together. The park is adjacent to a fairly large airport, so the beach and campsites are in VERY close proximity to the noise and vibration created by planes taking off and landing. The beach is nice, but we are from Florida and spoiled! The site we had was in loop 4 and was very well shaded and easy to back into. We looked at the other loops and it appeared to us that loops 1-3 were more open (less shade) and that sites in loops 5-6 provided more shade and larger space. When we return to this area we will camp at Huntington Beach State Park.

Quick stop from the beach

By UpstateLocals |

There isn't much to say about it, nice rr, cute little playground, nice stop to get away from the actual beach for a minute. There's plenty of parking close by and you can walk out to the beach public areas if you wanted. Enjoy. ❤

A new favorite

By DOD56 |

The campground here is so well laid out you don't realize how large it is - almost 300 spaces. Pads, for the most part, are very level, well spaced, and all enjoy a great deal of shade. Unusual for a state park, there are some full hookup sites. Very few pull throughs. We especially liked the sites along the outer ring. These seemed to be a bit more spacious and, since they backed to woods and not other sites, were a bit more private as well. You are never far from one of the many bathhouses, all of which are very clean and airy. The onsite store is well stocked and is open late, but you are only a ten minute or so drive from just about any service you could need. The dump station is very well placed.
Of course, the best part is the beach, just a few minutes walk away.
The park is in the flight path of the nearby airport, and you may be surprised by an occasional jet zooming overhead, but this is infrequent.
All in all, just a great place.
Do keep in mind - the gate to the park is closed and locked at 10 PM each night - don't get caught!

March 2023

I've never been to a state park where I had to pay, each of us paid $8 for a couple hours. The shells were scarce, but not broken as much as further south. Very small park. Somewhat disappointed.

Well worth a visit

By Gordon |

This lovely quiet state park is well worth a visit. A short drive south of Myrle Beach this quiet oasis offered walks by the beach, trails through marine forests a pier with fishing and a small gift shop. Really was worth gpoing although entry prices for a state park were steep at $8 each for seniosrs.

Beautiful place

Best place in myrtle beach to relax, have a picnic, escape your horrible hotel. And all for five bucks.

Great State Park!!

By MrsReed |

We camped in the park in December. Yes, December! The weather was beautiful. The park and buildings were quiet and clean. Staff was helpful. The store has everything that you might need in a pinch. The ocean is a very short walk from all the sites in the campground. The cabins are nice and also a very short walk to the ocean. We will definitely stay again.

We spent a few days in a CCC cabin.

By FlaEngineer |

The park was busy, but back where the cabins are, it was nice and quiet. The ocean was a short walk away (600 feet or so). There is a 'private' walkway for the cabins to get to the beach. They are on the north end and even the beach is quiet.
The fishing pier was fun to walk. We watched the sun rise one day and it was amazing. Myrtle Beach State Park was a nice place to visit. Even though it was close to Myrtle Beach, it seemed removed from the hustle and bustle.

Beautiful grounds

By Jessica H |

We visited the state park during our vacation because we were having family pictures done there. It's very beautiful! The hiking trails, picnic areas, and beach are 0retty. The pier is closed for construction, which was disappointing. The price is $5 PER PERSON, not per car like most places, which is a bot pricey. But overall, I would recommend.

So relaxing and beautiful!

By Lorie M |

We are long time Myrtle Beach lovers..go about 4 times a year. We usually stay at the private campgrounds and just are so tired of being cramped in like sardines. We wanted to have the park experience along with going to the beach. So we decided to try MBSP. Wow, it was so great! We were a little concerned, because the sites are tight to get in for a large rig like ours, but once we got in, we settled down in our little wooded paradise. We were on the 5 loop, which was like a 10 minute or so walk to the beach. The thing is, a lot of times, the walk to the beach is hot and miserable. Not here...it was like a walk in the woods, with beautiful shade! Once you get to the beach, it is huge, with lots of room to spread out. Beautifully kept. Yes, there were airplanes but this is part of the beach at this end...we had airplanes at the private camp grounds too! I think it was probably noisier for those staying in the front loops, as that was closer to the run way, but it was deafening noise. Everyone was very friendly, we walked our dog all over the park and met lots of great people! really enjoyed!

Great difference from the walk on public beach

By Ron |

Got to get there early, parking is a premium. Really nice beach, nice sand, not so overly crowded. Most likely the only beach I'll go to from here on out

Great beach to get away from the crowds on public beaches. Nice sot for Camping, group functions, weddings

By Penny S |

beat the crowds at the public beaches. can get busy here in summer, though. Plenty of room on the beach but sometimes the line of cars to get in car be long later in the day.

Beautiful Campground

By Kelly M |

Beautiful, treed campground with nice sized sites! This is the first time we have stayed here and we fell in love with the place and WILL be going back. We loved the beach (found 10 shark teeth or first morning out!) and loved spending time on the pier. It was very, very hot the week we were there so we did not take advantage of the hiking trails but look forward to them for our next trip. I appreciated that it was life-guarded and that the entire park was an alcohol free zone. Because you have to pay to come in to use the beach and pier if you're not camping there, there was no issues with an over crowded beach. Loved every minute of our time there.

Beautiful state park

By noho63 |

We stopped in briefly while traveling to see the beach and park. It’s a beautiful area. Wished we had more time here. Lots of camping, picnic areas and of course, a beautiful beach. The one negative was the entry fee for seniors. Apparently only South Carolinians qualify for senior discount. Seems a bit discriminatory, no?

A little expensive for a day trip but season pass for $99

By DrDianeLynn |

the $8 per person admission price, i thought was a little high but the season pass rate seemed great. They do have a beautiful nature trail through the woods. The fishing pier was closed when we went but they have a narrow but nice beach. They have lots of picnic facilities and bathrooms

Unspoiled Beach, Good Nature-Themed Programs, Camp Sites, Maritime Forest

After visiting Huntington Beach State Park, we had enough time in the day to visit another state park. We again used our one-day State Park Pass obtained from Plantation Resort, so we had free entrance into Myrtle Beach State Park. Paid admission is $5 for adults. Surprisingly, there was a short line at the Guard House. We stopped at the attractive Park Office first, picked up a map and spoke to the woman at the desk about what wildlife we might see in the park. From there we drove to the parking area by the Pier Store. The store carried beach-themed tees and touristy gift items plus drinks, ice cream and snacks. We sat outside on a park table, under an umbrella and ate our lunch enjoying the gentle ocean breezes and fresh air. I was very disappointed that the fishing Pier was closed for repairs due to hurricane Florence. It is not scheduled to open until September, 2019. But, we did enjoy walking on the beach and picking up some shells. The 1-mile beach was unspoiled and quite clean. Lifeguards were on duty.
.
We drove around the park later and were pleased to see many restrooms. We counted seven Picnic Shelters. We saw one playground and understand that there is another in the Campgrounds. There are six rental cabins, which sleep 6-8 people, if you are not interested in roughing it in one of the 30 tent sites. We actually did rent a cabin at another state park for several nights. On our next visit, we intend to hike on the Sculptured Oak Trail, through the Maritime Forest, a Heritage Trust Site.

We stopped by the Nature Center and Activity Center before we left. Inside the Nature Center were aquariums, live reptiles and interactive displays. If you are staying at the campgrounds check out the educational programs run by the park covering topics such as reptiles, snakes and sea animals. There are crafts, Geocaching and Habitat Patch Programs for “kids” of all ages. Get recipes for outdoor cooking and learn how to protect the sand dunes. Beach umbrella & chairs can be rented from lifeguards and ask in the store about beach wheelchairs. In the winter months, horse back riding is permitted. Even if you are not interested in active activities, come and simply enjoy the ocean breezes and watch a sunrise or sunset.

Beautiful, clean beacn...crowded and buggy camping

By carlos227869 |

This is a clean, well-located park. The camping area is well-maintained, close to the clean and beautiful beach. The pier is a highlight of the experience. There is also plenty of beach to walk and explore, nice playgrounds and picnic areas. We stayed in a campsite near the nature center and were grateful for the privacy and reduced traffic flow--especially for our young children. Many other areas of the campgrounds are quite busy and exposed to traffic from cars, bikes, and golf carts. It is very busy campground in general, more crowded than other state parks we have visited. We had very poor experience in terms of bugs in the campgrounds. Mosquitos are abundant, agressive and resistant to ordinary bug sprays (they will attack the square inch of skin that is not sprayed). I (and to some degree my children) were attacked by chiggers. I believe that they crawled onto us from the woods near our campsite, perhaps into our tent. Our campsite was just next to the brushy low-lying area near the Nature Center. We want to go back to the beautiful beach, but are afraid of campling there again.

Trails, nature center, beach and fishing pier

By victoriamccracken |

We loved our day at Myrtle beach state park! My husband and our two boys (5 and 11) enjoyed the trails, boardwalk, beach and pier. We didn’t have time for the nature center unfortunately but the boy got to see a loggerhead turtle that was caught on the fishing pier. They got to see the state park staff work quickly to help the turtle as best they could and contact the South Carolina aquarium since she had swallowed the hook.

Since 1936!

By Critiqueness |

Opened in 1936. They have tent and RV camping, shelters and a big gift shop. Over a mile of beach front for recreation. Very few shells and no sea glass nor shark’s teeth. It’s advertised in a pamphlet that they give a discount at the admission gate for seniors as well as a little more discount for senior residents, but we seniors had to pay the regular price? Opened from 8am until 5pm.

BEAUTIFUL BEACH

By peacethroughtravel2 |

The campsite has nice hot showers and laundry. It is a bit crowded for us but worth the stop for the glorious beach.

Ok but not worth the $8 per person

By Navigate821061 |

I thought there would be more to see. We could have had free parking down the road. The beach was crowded and didn’t seem like it was any different than the tourist area with all the resorts.

Great State Park Joint

By RobSC1001 |

This is awesome little state park joint. The price was good; to keep the zombies, sidewinders and clodhoppers out. The beach and picnic areas were clean and like I said no zombies sidewinders or clodhoppers in the area. Daughters reported that their bathroom was little dirty. I felt secure and safety in mine; No Sea Bass incident .

Beautiful State Park

Located on the oceanfront, the park has multiple piers, a souvenir shop, restrooms, and a nature activity center. Our family enjoyed playing on the beach and walking on the nature trail.

Nice camping in the off season

By DayTrip820447 |

With cooler weather, the campground was almost empty and much quieter than other times of the year. Good fishing at the pier, though the end is closed from hurricane damage.

We took our RV here for a 3 night stay. The staff is courteous an the RV park is fairly nice with full hookups at most of the sites. It is very shady but some of the sites are a bit tight due to trees. The RV area is in the flight line of Myrtle Beach International Airport and there is a lot of noise from the constant flights passing directly over the campground. And it is a fairly long walk to the beach from the campground. Otherwise it’s a great place to visit and enjoy the beach.

Very nice beach was given a free pass each day by Blue-green property .

By 937sjackson |

The beach is very nice not a lot of people con-paired to Grand Strand,
Beaches have easy access A nice area to grill out and restrooms 500 feet from the beach.

HIdden Gem in Myrtle Beach

By Cheryl D |

Our timeshare offered a Day Pass to visit this park, so we took advantage and, boy, we were so glad we did! This is a beautiful park. The last preserved marine forest on the SC coast. We hiked several easy trails, watched families fish and troll for crab on the pier, waded in the Atlantic Ocean, and had a picnic at one of the many shaded picnic tables in the park. Would have gone back another day if we had time.

Beautiful and clean

Wide beach at low tide

Seedy, Outdated, Overcrowded, NO MASK!!

By TonifromOhio |

My hubby ad I spent out 22 anniversary here two weeks ago. This was our and LAST time going to Myrtle Beach. This was the seediest, dirtiest, oldest part of Atlantic we've ever seen. The beach itself was pretty clean, however, vacation rentals, hotels, and surroundings of the beach were very old and outdated! The beach was super crowded, no one had on mask..it was like Covid19 didn't exist there! There were people that had so many dogs that were using the bathroom on the beach, and in the ocean! The sea shells were abnormally large and thick, as we've never seen anything like this before. We really wanted to love this place as we love love love the Atlantic coast! I just think that this beach is so outdated and use a huge overall in construction and a large clean up. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. However I highly recommend: Savannah, Tybee Island, Ponte Vadre, St. Augustine, Vilano, Flagger, Palm Coast and on down through the Keys, which are absolutely beautiful!!!

Myrtle Beach State Park

By Brett V |

Very nice state park. Pier with great views. The nature walk was a little underwhelming. Nice beach area and camping though

Pristine beach and non commercial

By RoadRunnerGramma |

Myrtle Beach State Park is right beside all the beach-side hotels but due to having an entrance fee, it provides a less crowded beach. It's so beautiful! Entry fee at Huntington Beach State Park includes entry here, too. Both parks are well worth a visit with only $5.00 per adult for entry. Don't miss it when you visit Myrtle Beach.

Brookgreen Gardens

By SassySpice1958 |

We never went to the state park itself, we visited their sister site across the highway. It was simply phenomenal. We went twice, but for an $18 ticket, you can go up to 6 days in a row! The gardens were beautiful, and those live oaks with Spanish moss; breath taking. Lots to do for kids too. We took and hour boat ride ($8) up the Waccmaw River and spotted at 14 ft alligator sunning on a bank, along with turtles, birds and beauty. I would def go there again and again. Also, the statuary is stunning!

Great experience for those that don't want big crowds or rowdy beachgoers.

By Mike L |

This is one of the better beach experiences we have had, due to the lack of congestion on the beach. The experience is similar to when we had a VRBO right on the water (with a private beach). We will be back this year, simply because we will have space on the beach, and not be stacked up behind rows of other persons.

The campground is fantastic, as long as you are careful with your campground selections. The inner circle is packed together, with the outer row having ample space. Last year, we stayed in the few spots along the main road, near the laundry room. The site was cramped, but felt private enough. This year, we are staying at one of the big sites in the back row and renting a golf cart (which they bring to you).

Gorgeous

By SaltyNurse |

Enjoy this park everytime we visit. Clean and scenic. There are private camping sites if you ask. A few rental cabins if that is appealing. The raccoons scavenge, so keep the food secure. Lots of mosquitos last trip, bring bug spray and sunscreen 🙂

nature at its best

By EileenS |

A short walk on the beach from the Doubletree by Hilton.
Highly recommend a stroll there, it was very serene.

Excellent!

By jjhenry13 |

I bought a yearly pass for this park because the beach is clean and so are the amenities (bathrooms, picnic, showers, etc.) The parking is right next to the sand with a nice high berm so it doesn't spoil the view.

Not bad!

By slidermuzz |

This is a nice beach and camping area. It does get extremely crowded on the beach through the day. There was a lifeguard when I went. The pier is free and there is a cute gift shop. There is plenty of parking and overall it’s a nice place to spend a day or a few.

Love this Park

By Michael F |

We joined with a yearly Park Pass and that makes the visits so cheap. We love the beach area, the parking, the picnic areas, the clean restrooms and the great beach access areas. This is our fav beach areas in Myrtle Beach....oh n we enjoy surf fishing here too and willtry the pier when the renovations are finished.

Enjoyed

By PaulBeve |

We camped here for a long weekend Nov 26 – Mar 2, 2021. For this time of year, the campground was pretty full, I am thinking about 75%.

The park is well maintained and all the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. No issues with utilities at the campsite.

We stayed at site 20B which is right at the entrance to the campground so there was a lot of activity to watch. 20A and 20B are very close together and would be excellent sites for family/friends camping next to each other.

Very good park for biking. Campground is large enough that you can do a lot of riding just in in the campground. Hiking trails were good for bikes as well. At the entrance gate there is a paved path for bikes and golf carts that takes you to HWY 17 and then to a safe crossing with buttons to stop get the traffic lights to stop the traffic so you can safely cross over. There is a grocery store on the other side.

Beach is an easy walk from the campground. Nice beach but during high tide it is probably crowded in the summer.

We scouted for campsites for future visits and recommend the following on Circle 6. More privacy. All of Circle 6 is full hookup sites. 336, 334, 332, 323, 293. Tent campers be aware that sites 161-172 were flooded and not useable. May want to avoid these.

I did not go into bathrooms, but wife said they were fine. Each shower has dressing area outside of shower that also has it’s own privacy curtain.

Nature center was worth a quick visit.

There is a nice playground shaded by live oaks for the young kids.

There is a fishing pier and no access charge to walk on it.

This is not the quietest campground. People were not the problem. The park is in the flight path of the airport. Lots of LOW flying air traffic during the day but it pretty much stops in the early evening. Didn’t bother us and we kinda enjoyed watching them. You can also hear sirens from HWY 17.

Myrtle Beach State Park is a great winter camping place at the beach. Probably would not stay in the summer as the whole area is just too crowded. Huntington Beach State Park would be a better choice for spending time on the beach in the summer. The beach there is HUGE but it is still close enough to Myrtle Beach if you want to do some of the activities that it has to offer.

A Gem on the Ocean

By Dana H |

Just spent 3 days at this wonderful State Park in an RV. Sites are spacious and wooded with full hookups Wi-fi signal was not strong enough to hook up to at our site but other than that it was a great place.

Fun in the sun

By Steve C |

Nice beach. Large sandbar, so waves break out away from the beach. Lots of parking. Bring your own chairs. Can use fishing pier for shade.

My Myrtle state park

By Karen W |

Sometimes the line is long and a bit costly. Enjoying my yearly pass and the only beach I frequent while in Myrtle. Only disadvantage is that it is a State park so closes I wish it were 24 hours so I could enjoy late night fishing off the pier and watch the sunrise.

Pier closed

By rick s |

Nice beach with small gift shop. Pier closed for remodeling. Not crowded at all. Not sure if I would go back.

Beautiful & clean

By Jannette K |

We walked this beach many times during our stay. Loved that he beach is very clean and well maintained.

Pleasant morning during dog-friendly hours

By Jim T |

We spent about an hour at the beach before 10 AM so we could have our dog with us on the beach. Give me this place any day over the crowds and hotels and all of that in the touristy part of town. It was so nice to drive in through the forested area, park, and pass over the dune to a beautiful and uncrowded beach. Kids and dog loved it.

Beach service

By Susan |

As a local who is a passport member to the Myrtle beach state park, I just want to take a minute to give shout out to "SABASTIAN" he was going around with the ice cart and had the BEST customer service I have seen in a long time! Thank you Sabastian! 2023

My Place to Relax.

By Carolyn P |

This beach area is u inquest . It was not congested. Lots of walking space . Enjoyed browsing in the gift shop and enjoyed an icecream on the deck. Parking was good . A short drive to a wonderful, clean , sandy beach.

Wonderful day at the Beach

By shanec |

My wife and I don't get to visit Beaches very often so we looked forward to Myrtle Beach. The area did not disappoint. It was crowded Labor day weekend but there still were some places to park and the Beach is so large that there was plenty of space to lay on the beach or have an enjoyable time in the water.
The water was surprisingly warm and the waves were large enough to have fun body surfing and generally playing around. We had the best time in a long time on the beach and strolling out on the Pier provided incredible views. Definitely in our top ten beaches.

beautiful beach

Nice wooded place to camp BUT noisy with proximity to airport

By Joanne L |

Pros and cons to camping here. Love being in a wooded area with full hookups to camp, as you don't find much of that in Myrtle Beach. A cute nature center and trails to explore make it very nice. Enjoyed being near the pond even though the mosquitos had started coming out. Kids loved just taking a walk on the beach and was nice going before May so that our dog could have time on the beach. He loved it. BUT the proximity to the airport is horrible. Planes & helicopters constantly flying over, along with military trainings, made it very noisy at times, even when on the beach.

Beautiful Place

By michellechance40 |

My husband and I visited here several times when we went for our week beach vacation. Great place to walk on the beach.

New rules make this unrealistic for us

By Christine N |

So sad that the rules have changed for this park. We used to be able to come and spend the morning at the beach while we waited for check in time for our camper. Now they can not “accommodate” our trailer in the parking spaces anymore. I assume we will have to vacate the park upon checkout now as well. We used to check out, park and enjoy a couple of hours on the beach before we left. We will have to think about canceling our reservations for future trips here. It is too expensive to buy an extra day before and after. We might as well stay in a hotel at that point.

Horrible after ten years at 8 am I could not park where I always do.

By Passenger39509454996 |

I live across the street and go to this beach often. Today at 8am I pulled into the park as usual to park by the handicap walkway in the South end of the beach. I have a season pass but I was turned away because the whole southside was reserved for paying visitors. What the hell is a season pass?? I am so upset by this. After ten years of going to this beach and paying for it. I was turned away by a ranger. If i had reserved a spot and paid even more then I may have had a space, but where??? Charge more for the season pass.. That is fine and stop this BS reservation.

Relax

By love2travel1327 |

Me and the husband decided to spend the day at the beach here. Admission to the park is $5.00 per person and you can re-enter the same day as long as you keep your receipt. There are several beach access points, they even have handicap accessibilty. Very nice day at the beach.

Great Beach Access

By Culture639125 |

The beach at the State Park is very nice and they have a Guest Center where you can get nice gifts and ice cream!

Beautiful Park

By robertmQ7002IJ |

Myrtle Beach State Park is beautiful. The beach was not crowded and very clean. There was camping and trails to hike and a cute little gift shop at the end of the pier.

Good beach but too crowded.

By Andrew S |

It's very crowded here but there is a lot to do. I played putt putt and went to Middle Evil Times. North Myrtle or Sunset is a lot less crowded but is more expensive.

Great place to enjoy life

By ppark0927 |

I visited this park the other day. I had a friend I hadn't seen in a year that was staying there. The camp site are nice and there are lots of bath houses everywhere. The people were very friendly. There is a nice store with ice cream. Pets are allowed in the park but not in the store. In addition to the a great beachfront for walking there are lots of walking paths all over the place. This is a great place to spend the day or if you want to camp they have snowbird specials for January, February and March at great prices.

Beautiful place.

By sharonj715 |

Stayed at Wyndham SeaWatch Plantation, but would have much preferred my camper at this park. None of the commercial gunk that Myrtle Beach has.

Excellent place to take kids.

By Jackie Goes |

Lots of activities. Lots of opportunity for bird watching. Great for young kids or grandkids. The entry fee is also good at Huntington Beach State Park on the same day, right up the road.

My sanity

By EDRNbeach |

I live near here and go all the time—love it! I have included photos from this year (2025).
This is where I find my sanity after working long hours in a hospital. The annual park pass is $99, and I make sure I get my money’s worth.

Beach and More

By travelbug |

Love visiting the beach and also the nature programs that are available. We have done the first day hike and also attended the Center For Birds Of Prey event in the fall. Sometimes you even get to see riders on horseback.

Myrtle Beach State Park

By EvanGuthrie |

Myrtle Beach State Park on Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach is a beautiful and well managed state park that has much to offer from a beach with a cool pier to trails and a nature center. They are well worth a visit to appreciate the beach and a maritime forest. The staff here is very friendly and makes sure that you have everything you need.

PIER CLOSED FOR CONSTRUCTION
PRICE TO ENTER IS PER PERSON NOT CAR

By Bonnie Z |

Felt like not worth the money because pier closed. Picnic pavilions are open and so is beach. Dogs not permitted after 10 AM but can go on after 5 PM. Nothing to do unless like to hike or be on beach .

Beautiful park that just needs a few small touches

By GetOutsideNGo |

My family spent 5 days at MB State Park. The park is beautiful and it located very close to all the more tourist centered attractions on the Grand Strand but it’s like being at a totally different beach. The beach is very clean and quiet, it’s mostly used only by the people camping there which makes for a wonderful day at the beach. It is dog friendly as well. The bath houses could use a better cleaning. By days end the water and sand were pretty thick on the floors. They seemed to only clean them once a day. There is a laundry facility at each bathhouse but there isn’t a change machine. You have to drive all the way to the park store to get change so be prepared with quarters if you want to do your laundry. Overall it’s a great place to camp and we’ll definitely be returning in the future. I loved the atmosphere but there are a few small things they could do for guest comfort and convenience to make the stay even better.

Another wonderful stay

By Kathy S |

We have stayed five years here. We stayed six nights. Staff are so helpful and pleasant. THey did a great job cleaning up the park after the hurricane and no one would have known there was one. We have already booked next year stay

Air traffic spoils the beach atmosphere

By James T |

We have been coming to this beach for years. It is a nice place to camp and walk to the beach. But the airplanes are making it almost unbearable. It seems like much more air traffic than in previous years. Every morning at 6:00 am until 11:00 pm. The planes are extremely loud making it impossible to talk with someone while they are flying overhead. Too bad it is such a nice park. We may not return.

Place for loud people

By Alice |

There are very loud people with loud music in this place. This alone makesthis place not likeable to many like us.

MORE PARKING

By J.R. |

Moved to Myrtle Beach, 2 years ago, from long island. Love it here! We frequent the State park regularly, however, IT NEEDS MORE PARKING. With the influx of new homes, comes new residents. The park draws more bodies and cars/golf carts. IT NEEDS MORE PARKING.

Jungle on the Beach!

By rmwaltermyer |

This gem is tucked between two highly-developed sections of Myrtle Beach. The campground provides full hookups and seclusion, but just a short walk to the beach. We haven't camped there yet, but fully intend to someday. We did walk around the area and were very pleased with what we saw.

Beautiful November Afternoon

By tangi1 |

A nice way to spend a hour or two. We did not walk the trails or camp. Simply sat on the beach and took a walk on the fishing pier. A decent place to social distance and enjoy the fresh air. There is a gift shop you need to go through to get to the pier or fishing license. Masks required.

Beautiful place to visit.

By Steve B |

Other than the fact that it cost us $10 to enter, it was a beautiful place to visit. The pier wasn't open completely, but there were a lot of people fishing. It provided a great view of the beach and ocean.

Park visit

By Kathy W |

This is a fairly nice park. You can visit Huntington State Park and Myrtle Beach State Park in the same day with one admission fee. Unfortunately we didn't know that. The beach is nice. A lot of camping areas.

Nice clean beach.

By Jeffrey F |

Stopped to check out the camp ground and walk on the beach. Very nice place to take the family and dog. Definitely coming back.

Walking paths, Beach access

By PHILRidgefield_CT |

If you like to walk, like we do while on vacation, this is the place to go. Paths through wooded areas funnel the walker to the beach and back around. Parking beach side if preferred, great for shell collecting, wading or swimming. Five dollars per person for adults, SC seniors get a break as do children under six years old.

Pier fishing with Dad

By John K |

Just found out this past weekend as the end of the pier is taped off they are going to do repairs to the pylons over the summer, kind of a crazy time to do this when your crowds will be in to walk the pier. However I understand contracts and maybe this is the time to get it done. So half the pier is open till June 1st when the whole pier will be closed. Had a good weekend fishing with dad that I don't often get to do.

Beautiful beaches

By Cathy M |

Make a trip to the gorgeous beaches of Myrtle Beach state park. Clean, relaxing, magnificient sunrises and sunsets, family and pet friendly. Put that all together and the beaches are the perfect place to spend a summer day.

Easter weekend vacation!

By cakelady64 |

Stayed here for just two nights. Love that there is a walking path right to the beach! Went to Myrtle beach for my cousin's wedding. Wish we could have spent more time here. We will return! Lovey state park!

Cheaper than hotel

By TravelingBum10 |

We arrived a week after the hurricane hit. Our spot in the campground was full of tree branches that had broken off. All they did was push them to the side. Some spots in the campground were too close and have no room and privacy. The beach looked clean. Pier was closed. Airport is right next door so you can hear airplanes all day. Lots of hiking trails. Close to the boardwalk

Best Camping in the South

By Karen B |

My husband and I were recently gifted a travel trailer so decided to take a trip from Ontario Canada to Myrtle Beach trying to escape the cold. We prefer more rustic camping so decided to try out the State Park. We were not disappointed. Our site was located in the outer most loop which had lots of privacy, fully treed behind us. The campground is spotless and our site was so level it was very easy to park. There are lots of great walking trails. Our site was approximately five minutes from the beach which was spectacular.

We came for the long Labor Day weekend. The park is huge and the campground was full but we still had an amazing time.

By Kimmie R |

We had a wonderful time camping in our travel trailer with our dog. She is 8 years old and we just got our travel trailer this year and she got to experience the beach for the first time. It was amazing

Great Spring Break trip!

By Lindsey C |

We had a great time here for Spring Break! It was nice and cool! The last day it got much warmer and the mosquitoes that came out were huge! So beware of the mosquitoes!

Beautiful Beaches

Visited for the first time with my 3 girls (16, 13, &9). Lots of birdwatching and great time on the beach. Plenty of shells and washed up jellyfish. Spent a few hours, wished we’d planned for more.

Best beach

I love this beach because it is natural. No high rises behind you, just some dunes and beach grasses.
We have seen dolphins, pelicans, and even a stingray. My favorite beach in Myrtle

Making Memories

By ladygreyhound33 |

Truly one of the best state parks we’ve visited! There were lots of shady picnic spots, not very crowded, restrooms available, great parking! The beach is gorgeous, my granddaughter’s favorite place! They have a nice gift shop, but sadly, the pier was closed due to construction work. We definitely want to go back!

Closed pier

By RHaynes2014 |

We like this park and have used it in the past. But this past week we were going to use the pier for fishing. But after driving several 100 miles we were disappointed to see that the pier was closed for repair. Oh well maybe next time. But it is a wonderful place away from the crowds.

Myrtle Beach State Park- A hidden gem

By Justin S |

Myrtle Beach State Park is a hidden gem with a nature center, multiple wooded trails with various landscape from swampland to forest to traditional beach, there is a fishing pier and store and a large beach space with dunes and vegetation that will leave you breathless. There are campgrounds and cabins avaliable as well.

Long weekend

By Julian P |

A nice walk along the beach front very clean much less trash than in some areas. Nice to visit most anytime of the year. You can find plenty to do.

Fish, sunbathe or just relax and enjoy the ocean breezes

By Bob H |

The admission cost is very reasonable ($5 adult or $3.50 for a senior) and there is plenty to do here. We visited the pier and the beach. We toured the gift shop (you have to go through it to get tot the pier). You can rent fishing rods at the gift shop and also buy bait. We walked all the trails and visited the ranger's stations and enjoyed the ocean scenery.

one of the best state parks we have stayed at

By blackriverwoman |

This is one of the best beaches and cabins we have been to. Our cabin was in walking distance to the beach. No alcohol is allowed inside the park. The cabins are very clean with a screened porch, air conditioning, wifi that works sometimes, cable tv with vhs and dvd player. 2 bedrooms, full kitchen, and full bath. Linens, cookware, soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc are provided. There is a free pier with a charge if you fish. The sand is white, the beach is not crowded, and the waves are moderate. There is a camp store, trails, pond, 100's of camping areas, nature center, etc. We felt completely safe here. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Beach Time

By sippy52017 |

Went to Myrtle Beach State Park when my daughter came to visit with her family. The grandchildren loved the beach. Unfortunately, the pier was closed but the beach area and the restrooms were clean. Since we live in Myrtle Beach we purchased one of the annual passes, which is totally worth it. Will go again because there are hiking paths, picnic areas, camping area and educational area. Well worth the $5/person they charge for entrance.

A beach of a campground

By tom g |

Nicely wooded campground with big sites. Some 50 amp sewer and water, some tent and a few cabins with easy walk onto a well kept beach. Biking and hiking trails with in park. Shopping for supplies nearby.

Great family oriented place

By svecjennifer |

Only went to the beach while at the state park but did drive around to check out the campsites and facilities. There are plenty of pavilions and trails, playgrounds and even a nature center. Loved the fishing pier and clean beach. There is also a camp store and nice bathrooms.

Just average

By groovygirl858 |

This park was okay, but the parking/signage was lacking. We became frustrated after arriving because the signs weren't clear and the parking areas were difficult to navigate. Liked the beach and pier.

Park is fantastic, Campground is nice.

By Kris |

The MBSP park is very well maintained. Pier is currently under construction but should be open again soon. We live locally and go to the park often. Great nature center with lots of activities planned throughout the year. Beach is one of the cleanest on the Grand Strand. Nice hiking/walking trails.

While we have been to the park many times we recently just camped there for the first time. The campground overall is pretty well shaded. If you like privacy choose a site on the outer loop as the inner loops are packed like sardines. Campground offers some sites with FHU. Campground has a nice large paved pathway out to the beach. Park staff is very nice and helpful. Food Lion grocery store across the main road from the park. Lots to do in Myrtle.

Great StatePark

By Michael F |

Having just moved to Myrtle Beach two weeks ago, we are not considered residents yet so we can’t get a yearly pass yet so we paid the five dollars a person to go sit on the beach. Very nice, beautiful views, a fishing pier, and lots of eating/cooking areas also with public bathrooms. This is a nice park and when we are official residents, I can buy a year senior pass for less than forty bucks. What a deal.!!!

Ridiculous

By TishaBrown |

We arrived at 1230. Turned away even though our campsite was empty. DO NOT ARRIVE EARLY!!! Attendant was rude. Probably wouldn’t stay here again.

Camping

By Howard H |

This is a great spot. We only camp here during the winter and early spring, but it is great. For the cost, you cannot get a better value. I assume in the summer it is crowded, but during the winter it is perfect. You camp less than 5 min from the ocean. There is a great pier, camping in the woods, hiking on the trails and playing / hiking on the beach, all right there. Plus, Right outside the park gates are all the wonders of MB. This is right in MB. It is not “off” somewhere, it is right there. If you like camping, this is a great ticket, especially for winter camping.

Dogs are allowed to be chained up outside

By Teresa R |

We camped for a week. The park is beautiful and has lots of trails and of course beautiful beach. I didn’t see any park rangers driving around during our stay. Our neighbors keep two large dogs chained outside during our entire stay. They often would leave and leave the dogs chained outside. The dogs bared at anything they saw including us sitting outside. I have never seen this allowed at other parks.

Beautiful beach

By boglefan |

We got there late at night and we were tent camping. I'm used to State parks having big lots to camp on, but this park it felt like the tents were on top of each other. The sites were neck to neck with other tents just feet away. Our fire pit had the neighbors tent right beside it so we couldn't lite it up. We only stayed for 2 a weekend and I'm sure if we got there early we could of got more space since our neighbors left us hardly any space at all. We loved the beach. The ocean was amazing. There were so many shells!
The bathrooms weren't close to where we stayed, but they were very clean. If we went again, we would not tent camp due to how small the spots were.

A very unique park

By ssusanw210 |

I have never seen an area like this so close to the beach with windblown trees with unique bending branches. The boardwalks and pier were very well maintained. The forest and trees were beautiful and well labeled. There were signs encouraging kids to use the playground and climb trees. The beach was clean and the workers in the gift shop were very friendly. Worth the price of admission.

worth the entrance fee

beautiful fine sand that squeaks when you walk, not busy off season and easy access with showers in the dunes and changing rooms ad toilets

The best place to go to the beach

By Juan L |

I stumbled into here by accident. I didn't know the state park had a beach. That was a very lucky find. The beach still is somewhat crowded. But here, it's surrounded by lush green nature. So the state park's beach felt a lot more relaxing than in the rest of the Strand. I'll take this beach over any beach by the high rise hotels.

Great state park

By David G |

Very well maintained and clean state park, nature trails, beach and fishing pier. Fishing licenses sold in the gift and snack shop on the pier.

Okay beach...

By sdwagers |

Crowded beach. Tents everywhere and the beach is not that smooth. Parking is a hot mess. Other beaches near by I would choose instead.

Great!

By Carol T |

This is a nice place to go walk the beach, collect shells, sun, picnic, gift shop, walking trails. And camping. Something for everyone.

Great place for a walk

By sonofjs |

We visited mid-week in the off-season, and were fortunate to have a 70+ degree sunny day in February. I am not sure how it would be on a “crowded” summer day, but the weather brought out a good crowd the day we visited and there was plenty of open parking left. There is a pier that is free to walk on, several nature trails, a boardwalk, several picnic shelters and plenty of open beach access. There is a small store at the pier, and there are campsites and cabins for rent. We spent around 3 hours walking the beach and the trails and then resting at one of the many picnic tables. The admission was $5 per adult, and that included same day admission to Huntington park a bit further south. We will probably come again during our planned visit this summer.

Spring Break 2019

By Patricia D |

We camped here with our grandsons on site 64. This was the last site available so we reserved it. Ended up being a nice site with plenty of room for us. Lots of children in the campground playing during the day, but after dark the campground gets very quiet and calm. This park is an amazing oasis in the Myrtle Beach area. A lot of airplane traffic due to the close proximity of the airport, but the noise doesn't seem to be a bother. Beautiful, well kept park that is great for kids.

Perfect this time of year!

Loved staying here. Nice laundry facility, all around very clean. Easy beach access. Can’t wait to go back!

ALWAYS A BEAUTIFUL DAY HERE!

By JEANNE C B |

Myrtle Beach State Park is the place to spend the day at the beach, plenty of parking, beautiful clean beach, and lots of posted info on wildlife and sea creatures. The store is filled with plenty of eats and gifts to bring home. There are trails to walk and a great knowledgeable staff ot answer any questions you might have. We always buy the season pass which allows entrance to all the State parks in SC. Well worth the money.

Quick visit

By QRice |

This is a beautiful park with a great pier! For being the middle of October there were a lot of people there enjoying the beach and fishing from the pier. It was fun talking to the fishermen there to find out what they were catching. It was cool to watch a surfer trying to catch a wave. To see the local landscape shaped by nature was inspiring.

SC park

By carolinabonny |

We love visiting and camping in SC state parks. Each one is unique and has trails. We had visited this park many times and walked out to the pier and along the beach. This was our first time camping. The site was nice with full hook up for our RV. Bathroom and showers were near by. Many walking trails beautiful large Oak
Trees and beautiful ocean shoreline. I did not give a 5 because this camp site is inline with the Airport and helicopter flight path. This can be quite noisy starting early in the morning.

Urban Park in South Myrtle Beach

By Sparkii |

This is an Urban State Park in South Myrtle Beach located across from the airport. If you love, or don't mind planes, this park is for you. It's refreshing to stay in a park when 3 miles up the road is one of the biggest tourist traps in the country. We stayed in a full hook up site with 30/50 amp service. All services worked well. Wifi was iffy at best. Laundromat was one of the most impressive we have ever seen in a state park. Minimum of at least 15 washers/dryers, huge folding table, and everything sparkling clean. Our only concern was the ground at our site seemed unstable. As we were backing in the ground seemed quite loose and one of our tires actually sunk into the dirt like there was a hole underneath. Obviously it seemed like there had been a problem with the ground stability at this site and perhaps it had been filled in. Also, a word of caution. The park is known for its copperhead snake population. There was a dead one in the road in front of our neighbors site. The sites themselves go from being very close and open on the inner loops to more spacious, private and wooded on the outer loops - choose wisely. It has a great pier, campstore and fabulous beach. It great fun to go out on the pier and watch the sharks feeding around the fish cleaning stations - think about this if you swim near the pier. If you like parks, don't mind airports, beaches, fishing, and want to be close to the tourist action this is the park for you.

Great view

By ADolores |

The Myrtle Beach State Park is a fun way to spend an an afternoon. The beach itself is lovely and very clean. There is a pier which is a nice walk. The ocean views are amazing.

Beautiful Park

By Cheryl B |

A beautiful park..a little pricey to get in, $8 for each adult in the car, if you just want to see the park. A beautiful pier, alot of people were fishing and catching nice fish. There's a beautiful beach and it wasnt crowded..i love piers and that's why we went. Several people we talked to said it was a nice place to stay in the camp grounds

Beautiful Beach!

By Sme |

We stopped here after eating, and walked the beach. Was very beautiful and relaxing. I can see this would be a great beach to visit during the summer. I would highly recommend visiting this beach if you are in the area. Talking with locals, there are sharks that have been seen in the area. Swim with caution!

Red flags!!

By Rick S |

Very nice park, with a ridiculous surf warning policy. They fly a red flag every day, which completely defeats the purpose of a surf warning system. The day we were there, the place was like a lake. Small waves, no undertow, yet the red flags were flying. Completely useless and misleading. The guy at the ticket booth told us they do it so everyone is careful when they enter the surf. Are you kidding me??!! Who's the genius that dreamed up that insane policy?

Snakes from May on as per the Ranger

By MominOC |

Pretty beach that was very clean with access through the state park. Pay at the gate. Wear tennis shoes and long pants if you want to walk the trails. The ranger told us there were snakes from May on.

Great place to camp

By Chris M |

Very nice state park right in Myrtle Beach. Typical state park with shady campsites. Most have water and electric. One loop has full hookups. Bathhouse was clean. Nice laundry room. Nature center had daily activities. Entrance fee kept beach from being overcrowded. We would go again.

beach with a girlfriend, 8/7

By Michele L |

Beach time with a friend. Parking is good, beach is clean, bathroom facilities, ice cream shop, lifeguards, no issues with umbrellas.
Nice day trip.

Expensive, and not worth it.

By beverlyboyce |

We have stayed a number of times at Myrtle Brach State Park. This last visit was disappointing in my opinion. It seemed that there have been zero improvements to the park since a year ago. There is, however, a new pier at the beach. Probably my biggest dissatisfaction was the price. We paid over $350.00 for five nights. By comparison, the state park at Cheraw for the same period of time was $131.00. Another comparison is the lovely RV resort we stayed in Florida (complete with every amenity you could think of) was much a lower daily rate than MB state park. MB state park has few if any amenities plus the sites are less than attractive. Even the campers seemed sour.

Beautiful Beach

By bdrothschild |

Entry fee is per person and is reasonable. Beautiful, clean beach. The pier is not quite fully opened due to the last big storm. You can still go out on a long stretch of it. Watched some fishermen haul in some small fish. Nice way to spend some time.

Cabins FTW

By e.m. |

This is the second time we've stayed at the cabins at Myrtle Beach State Park. Both times we had a great stay. It's private, quiet, and so close to the beach. The cabins are modest but very clean. They have a fire pit, BBQ grill, screened-in porch, outdoor shower to rinse off, and a clothesline. They've really thought of everything.

The ONLY downside are the planes flying overhead, but they stop by around 10pm so it's not a big deal. Will for sure continue to come here. Such a lovely getaway especially in the off-season when there are fewer people.

gorgeous beach away from crowds!

By Caitlin N |

I may not have gone at peak times to see if it gets more crowded, but definitely less crowded than up by all the hotels. This is a really pretty beach with a pier you can walk out onto. Clean rest rooms, ample parking, showers near the parking lot to rinse off. Great beach!

Wonderful day at the beach

By Bob duskins |

Great place to relax and enjoy the ocean .super clean great parking nice beach store.well observed by very good and knowledgeable life guards wonderful place for couples and families alike

Wonderful, clean, fun place!

By kyderbymom |

Let me say first off that I am not a camper, but my family talked me into it this year. I researched campgrounds on beaches along the east coast, and MBSP got the best reviews, so we decided to go here. We were not disappointed!

We stayed on site 70, which was near the restrooms, trash, camp store, and beach access. It was a decent size (bigger than it looks in the photo) and clean. We did bring a rake to rake the leaf litter off the site. We had foliage on two sides for privacy, and we hung our clothes line for privacy on the other side, so we felt really cozy in our space. The ground is rock hard, so bring a mallet and sturdy stakes for your tent/canopy.

Couple of side notes: PUT YOUR FOOD AND TRASH AWAY EACH NIGHT! There are warnings about the raccoons, and they WILL get into your stuff. We duct taped our coolers closed, kept all our food in our van, and took our trash to the dumpster each night. The people next to us didn't heed the warnings, and the raccoons got into their food the first night they were there and the next night, took a dirty diaper out of their trash and carried it around their campsite.

Next, there are warnings all over the campground about copperhead snakes. Bring and wear close-toed shoes at night and keep a flashlight with you. We did not see a single snake outside of the ones on display in the Nature Center, but the ranger said they are common (just well camouflaged). Don't take the chance.

The restrooms were clean and always had plenty of toilet paper. The showers were decent. They could stand some bleach spray on the grout, but they were always clean and the shower curtains were changed out regularly. The water was always hot, although one or two of the showers had low water pressure. First world problem.

The camp store was well-stocked with whatever you needed. They always had ice and firewood. The workers were friendly and helpful.

We went to one of the talks at the Nature Center, which was informative. The rangers were friendly as well. My granddaughter did two of the scavenger hunts, which were entertaining, and we hiked one of the trails from the Nature Center to the beach. Wear close-toed shoes.

The beach access is wonderful. It was an easy walk from our site. The beach is really clean and well-maintained. I always pick up trash when I walk whatever beach I'm at, and this beach had very little to pick up. It was not crazy crowded the week we were there (June 26-July 2), and we always found a nice spot to put our stuff. You can only bring umbrellas around 7' in diameter, so leave your canopies at home.

Night-time was quiet (quiet hours are 10p-7a), but the nearby airport starts flights around 6:15 am. The planes are really loud, but it didn't bother us much.

We had a great time, and this non-camper would definitely go back!

Definitely an experience for new campers

By Tammie J |

I really have no complaints except the design of the bath house. They were a little sandy, but I expected that. The setup was crazy. I attached pictures. The handicap stall is shower, standing room, bench and plenty of hooks. But when you step out of the handicap stall you are in the bench area of the other shower stall. The other stall is a shower, curtain and stall door, and then you come out of the shower to to dress and there is a stall door there, but you can’t control what the other person in the handicap stall does. This was for Circle 5-6, which seemed to the nicest of them all, but the set up was sketchy. So if you wait for the handicap stall, it’s plenty big and nice. Then there are 3 sinks I believe and a couple stalls for toilets on the other side.

Camping area was nice, picnic table, fire ring with moveable grate for cooking on it.

It was a little way to the beach, but we took a golf cart and the boys had their bikes as well, so that wasn’t too bad. Store at pier was nice and had some food, bait, souvenirs, drinks, etc.

The store at the campground was really nice. Sold some other food options. Souvenirs, drinks and stuff for the beach as well.

We had a lot of fun and would definitely consider staying here again.

Great Pier!

By MinnesotaRandy |

Loved this state park. We had plans to go hiking, but the mosquitos on the trail were numerous. It costs $5/person to enter the park. Well worth it. Great pier!

Nice state park with beautiful beach

By RudySzymon |

We spent late afternoon on the fishing pier and on the beach. The pier also has a store with souvenirs and some snacks, including ice cream.

Beautiful Park

We walked one of the trailed, Very pretty scenery! The Beach was beautiful! A little chilly to swim. LOL also Pet Friendly.

Great Park

Easy to find, lots of bathrooms, boardwalks and pavillions for picnics. Campground looked good driving through but don't know the amenities for it. Beautiful area to walk.

Myrtle beach

By Machell L |

It was a good trip pay for parking like always close to a famous beach. Lots of places to eat but a little expensive. All and all will return at sometime.

Rude and hateful staff

By Jackson Hilliard |

The park rangers are so rude and would not let scouts bsa clean the beach. They do not care about the environment and only want the money.
They need to let people doing conservation be able to do it.

Snow Bird favourtie

By Laura F |

This is perhaps one of the cleanest, most user friendly parks in the area. LOVE IT here. The Park staff even have introduced people to the worldwide game of geocaching and provide GPS and training for interested participants. They have lots of events and workshops too. The trails are well maintained.

Accessible and Beautiful

By TheQueen1963 |

Fabulous visit with very amenable park rangers.. accessible walkways. I travel with a wheelchair and we were checked on by the rangers two times. Great experience

Uurrggghhh

By Tammy L |

We camp a good bit at state parks across SC. This is our first and last visit here! The park rangers are so rude it’s unbelievable! The positive is the sweet lady in the camp gift shop!

A great place to camp

By suzielocust |

We stayed there last week when the hurricane was hitting South Carolina.I just want to say the staff was extremely patient and helpful when I called. They are unflappable!
The beach is an easy walk to a great beach. We stayed in a RV and felt the sites in the back are quieter for older people where the ones in the front are maybe better for families as they are a little closer to the ocean and trails. The bathrooms were as clean as can be expected on the beach. The laundry room was clean and machines were good. All in all we enjoyed it.We have already booked there for next year!

The Best Beach on the Grand Strand!

By SailOnTommy |

If you like sharing the beach with tens of thousands of others near your hotel or condo - you may not like Myrtle Beach State Park. If you love expansive natural beaches with beautiful dunes and nature and spectacular ocean waves - make a bee line for MB State Park (just south of the bustling hotel district) - or go another 15 miles south to Huntington Beach. NO BEACHES on the east coast are any nicer than these two. Period

Peaceful in October

By lovestotravel061 |

This park was peaceful when we were there in October. It is the shoulder season for this area and while there were people, it wasn't crowded. We enjoyed walking along the ocean and collecting shells. We did wade for a bit in the ocean, but of course the water was cool. The sounds of the waves and the view are relaxing and I looked forward to walking each day along the beach.

Remains a beautiful place to spend time with family

By Sue L |

Despite Hurricane Florence, MBSP has bounced back to being as beautiful as ever, minus a few trees. The grounds are wonderful, the pier is really nice and there is a good gift shop and ice cream there. Have camped there and love going as often as we can. It is a little step into nature in the midst of a bustling ocean town.

Just beautiful...

By Ann R |

Enjoy the day, weekend, or more at Myrtle Beach State Park. Set back from Hwy 17B, the park offers beaches, picnicking, camping, fishing, great pier for fishing or viewing, educational info., trails. On first come, first served basis there are even covered, open shelters for gatherings.
Especially beautiful “off season” when there are little to no crowds. There’s nothing like the solitude & peace of the open beaches & ocean.

Wonderful visit to the state park

By MacNamara Family |

Very nice place to visit and if you purchase the pass for the state park, you can visit both state parks in myrtle beach with the same pass as long as u go the same day! So much to see and do-store, nature trails ,pier, horse riding on the beach, pet friendly beach, walking on the beach. They actually have benches to sit on and rest, plenty of bathrooms, lots of shells on the beach, fishing on the pier or just walking on it and watching for dolphins-we saw 3 while walking on the pier. Lots of birds land on the pier so u get to see a variety of wildlife. Will go back

Fantastic Park

By Michael F |

There is so much to do here. Beach, fishing, picnicking, camping, hiking and fishing on the pier. Plenty of room to park and enjoy this great beach area. And if you are a senior you can buy a .half price year pass for like 60 bucks. Fantastic deal.

clean

By Big Mike |

The area was kept clean ( at least in the off season) which is a big plus. Fee to get on the pier was nominal

Quick Fall Getaway

By cg208cm1592 |

Excellent place to stay for a couple of nights. We stayed in one of the cabins within the park. The cabin was rustic and a little dated but clean. It had a kitchen area and two bedrooms with one small bathroom. Cabins were just a short walk to the beach which was nice. The beach was not crowded at all. The park was well taken care of and not too crowded. Would be great for families with small children—lots of room for them to run around and play.

Fantastic Vacation

By Patti M |

Had a great time in Murrells Inlet. It was very easy to book this nice ocean front home. I highly recommend Trip Advisor.

Enjoyed the giant Adirondack chair the most! Make sure you do the 2 for 1 see my note below.

By SUE M |

First, we’re not campers. So, we went just to see the pier and beach. It was all very nice, clean and now we can check it off our list that we were there! Average beach site. Nice rangers and workers. We noticed the end of the pier is being repaired. The planes were flying low to land at a nearby Myrtle Airport. All in all it was good. There’s a very cool giant Adirondack chair on the pier that we did get our photo opportunity on.
I’d definitely recommend going once even if your not a camper. Nice to see.
Here’s a note that nobody advertised but is nice to know. When you pay your $8.00 pp to get into Myrtle Beach State park that allows you to get into Huntington Beach State park too on the same day! (And visa versa-saved us $16.00) Score! So, we went to both in one day. Best kept secret!

What a nice park

By IowaFlJayne |

Beautiful park to spend a day at. We brought a lunch to eat there. After that we walked up and down the beach. It was a great day. We also checked out the campground. It’s very well maintained. Great services and plenty room for each camper.

stopped in

By c j |

It is $8 a person to get in to the park. I thought was a little high. But, we walked out on the pier where the people fishing. We got to see some people catching fish. Then we got to see some sharks swimming around the pier where they were fishing. That was pretty cool. Worth the $8 after seeing the sharks.

Cleanest state park ever , great camp ground.

By bluetwin2017 |

This is a really nice affordable State park for camping, the rest rooms are spotless, no roundly bunches hang here because there is no alcohol allowed. Spaces are large,

beach clean to hunt shells and walk. NOT

By no poop |

the park don't want you to dump waste on there grounds but its ok for the horses they let in to dump on the beach. the riders don't care what they leave behind as long as they get to ride. so people who hunt shells and there dogs walk the beach after to get horse poop on there hands and there feet how nice THANKS for thinking about HUMANS on the beach we pick up after our dogs make the horses wear bags like in the city. they don't stay 5ft from the tide and what happened to the fine of $200.00 for leaving the POOP there. its sick to think what germs our kids get from putting there hands in there mouth not knowing. PUT BAGS ON YOUR HORSES $30.00 fix this

Overpriced cabin rentals

By bobbyb21 |

Stayed at a beach cabin and we think that they are overpriced for the rentals there. People will pay to stay there and the beauty of the beach is the selling point.

Great part of Myrtle Beach area.

By candycorn1 |

We enjoyed an afternoon at this stretch of Myrtle Beach SC . There is a fishing pier to walk out on and enjoy the view of Myrtle Beach from the water. The beach is nice and flat to stroll on and look for shells. There are plenty of picnic areas and public restrooms to accommodate the masses.

Too noisy!

By Debbie S |

Beautiful setting, campground and beach! We were unprepared for the noise of the airplanes taking off and landing right over us, very low! We also didn't realize they have an earlier date for restrictions on dogs on beach. We have always found Memorial Day as the cutoff, so that was a gamechanger! To add to the noise factor, it was Harley week and campground became full of loud motorcycles. We will not go back! Hope you will learn from our mistakes to avoid this campground if you want some peace and quiet!

Lovely, room to spread out

By RGRCNwFl |

Spent an afternoon here. Lots of parking, lots of room to spread out. Didn't go on the pier which looked like it could get crowded. Would definitely come here next time we're in town.

Nice for all ages

By Mary R |

We found lots of fishermen on the pier, people riding horseback on the beach, and a nice boardwalk to get our steps in. Restrooms were clean and centrally located.

A nice day at the beach

By LWarmwater |

For a small fee of $5 per person, we found this beach to be very well maintained. Not crowded at all. We stayed near the pier and used it for shade. If you do this, just watch for the fishermen on the beach. The pier is being remade so the fishermen are on the beach rather than on the pier. There is a small store that sells gifts, drinks and snacks.

Beach and Pier only

By kavithasrinivasan |

Beach and Pier are the biggest attractions in the state park. The $5 per person fee is a little steep but we get the parking, pier access and a pristine beach for this. But if you plan to spend the day at the beach, this is a good option. There are a few shelters, a gift shop, activity and nature center. February and March are still too cold for going in the water and a swim.

Clean beach

By NVtoSF |

The beach at this park was nice and clean. The park was easy to get to and there was plenty of parking.

Picnic at the park and walk on the beach

By Pttim |

We like this state park since it has a lot of picnic tables to choose from, offers a great place to ride a bicycle, and a great place to walk the beach. The only thing we don't like is that only SC seniors get a discount to the park. We own a condo here and visit 5 months out of the year but have to pay the full senior price since we're not "full-time" residents which is odd since we have to pay full year taxes, full year utilities, and full year cable bills. Its just not right.

MB State Park

By CaptJJ635 |

Nice place. Clean. Crowded in summer but not as much as the MB boardwalk area.Worth the visit and less expensive than Huntington State Park.

A hidden gem!

By Tracey E |

My husband and I camped here for 6 days in October. The beauty of this place is that you are camping in a forest setting, full of shade and trees, and with a quick walk you're at the beach! My husband fished at the pier daily (only $5) while I sat on the beach and enjoyed the sun. While we didn't have children with us, I did notice there is a
nice playground and plenty of people riding bikes. We used the showerhouse there, which was clean. We were a little freaked out by the raccoons that visited us nightly and ransacked my beachbag that I left sitting out (a no-no) haha. It was a good visit and I would definitely recommend staying here.

Best Beach in Myrtle Beach

By debbmm |

PAY the small fee for this beautiful beach with it's manicured sand and crystal clear waters. Walk out on the pier and watch the fishermen doing their thing. NO crowds and lots of sun, sand and fun

“Good Morning Myrtle Beach State Park!”

By legacyendeavors |

Quite an amazing and impressive State Park to visit right alongside the Atlantic Ocean!!!
We were definitely pleased with the views here, the huge drawbacks were the cold winds and the cold weather we had to deal with... Difficult to fully enjoy in todays’ chilly morning weather!

Inexpensive & loved it!

By 3333adele |

My family has camped here many times. It's inexpensive but a nice, clean camp ground. It doesn't have all the thrills like the other camp grounds but it is next to the beach, has trails, & a pier. Very relaxing. When we just want to camp & enjoy the beach we stay here & when we want the extra thrills like a pool & golf cart we stay at Pirates Land. Definitely recommend both.

Beautiful park

By asilcox35 |

Took my Parents here on vacation. Staying in this park changed my whole outlook on Myrtle Beach. I have chosen to go elsewhere for the last 20 years because I remember Myrtle being a “party town” However, the state park feels very natural and you don’t even know you are close to a city. We stayed in cabin #2 and couldn’t even see a hotel. Very private & relaxing (minus the planes from the airport). My only challenge was getting my mother (who is on a walker) to the shore. She also had difficulty getting into the handicapped accessible bathtub. The tub is regular height with a seat and bars, but the height is different for a disabled person to step into. The cabin was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for cooking. (You need your own food, cooking spices etc) will definitely return!!

Camping at Myrtle Beach State Park

By Dolores C |

We stayed at the campground for a month, Jan - February. We were in loop 2. A few trees but, very open. Sites in the further loops appeared more private. We enjoyed morning walks on the beach and some hiking around the park. We also grabbed some great ice cream at the pier. Would definitely recommend. And if you like horseback riding. There was a group that came every day for horseback riding on the beach. We didn’t do that but, it looked like a fun time. Great location to look for shark teeth.

Check what is allowed on Beach

By Shortrips40 |

Sat on the beach for several hours. Be sure to bring your sunscreen. Many umbrellas were up for shade. Observed one family with 2 small kids bring a small pup tent- they were approached by a ranger to take it down. Guess the little tents not allowed?

Not just a walk in the park ;)

By One-to-soar-high |

On a gorgeous 70 degree day in February the park and the beach are gorgeous. Being off season there’s no crowds and people seem friendly. The park and beach are very clean.

Location is super right on the water front with a nice long fishing pier. Camp sites and cabins with loads of walking trails. Just a mile away from market commons area of Myrtle Beach and its movies theaters ,bars, restaurants and parks.

Nice park really pretty the lifeguards were on their toes we appreciate you ,beach was nice 8$ per adults but you can go in and out all day has shelters for cook outs , walking paths we definitely will be back

Great beach location

By wednesdaygirlz |

Loved driving in and spending time at the fishing pier, boardwalk, gift shop, and beach. Our site was private, but very muddy. We had no wifi. You had to be very near the check in station to get wifi. Full hook up sewer hook up was too high. It was level with our camper so it had trouble draining. Location is Central to everything. Couldn't beat it.

Small

By SRBetchan |

Great small nature preserve in an industrial and commercial area. Good little trails to hike and beach access.

Nice State Park Close To Myrtle Beach Attractions

By Razzierb |

Great beach area in this park! The campsites are a little close together for our tastes, but were fine. We paid extra for a septic hookup that was not fully usable in our case because it was installed on the high point for our unlevel campsite. We could drain most of the black tank, but only half of the grey tank due to the elevation of the septic inlet. This is a site specific problem, but it caused me to have to wait in line at the dump station to completely drain our tanks when we left the park.
