First impression of the Navy Pier wasn't great because we arrived in Chicago late in the day. By the time we checked into our hotel and started walking looking for somewhere to eat, a lot of places were closing (were very surprised places closed at 9 p.m.). The crush of people and traffic were overwhelming but there were unexpected fireworks on Wednesday night. We returned to the Navy Pier 2 days later during the day and there were a lot less people so we could actually enjoy the sights. We ate at a hot dog place inside and that was nice. The flowers planted all around and on the pier are beautiful. There's even a hotel on the pier! There are so many places to see in Chicago but would definitely suggest not driving around the city because of the traffic. We did A LOT of walking, used the public buses, ubers/lyfts and trains. Touring the Navy Pier is a must!

I was disappointed in the Navy Pier. Really nothing to see. Just bars and restaurants. No shops. If you like to drink and party, you will like it.

It's a beautiful spot in the city with lots to offer. Whenever I take a trip back home (native) I love to find time to visit the Navy pier. The view from the pier is spectacular. One of my favorite things to do is take the speedboat that is right at the pier which gives you a great tour of the lakefront. There are a number of boat sightseeing options from Navy Pier. It is a great place for any age. The Children's Museum which is there is great for kids and for adults there are bars and restaurants. The Ferris wheel is worth it for the view. The best part of Navy Pier is the fun vibe and beautiful views!

A must visit in Chicago. I visited during twilight and the views of the city during sunset from here are gorgeous. Lots of shops and nice places to eat.

Extending out onto Lake Michigan, Navy Pier offers plenty in the way of family-friendly entertainment. it is located a few blocks east of The Magnificent Mile and is open daily year-round. The first thing you'll spot once you set foot on the pier is the towering Ferris wheel (which stands 196 feet tall). originally opened in 1916 as an amusement area and shipping facility but is now one of Chicago's most popular tourist attractions.
I was sitting here facing rough wind coming from Michigan Lake and thinking - is there any place like this that offers this kind of variety... tons of restaurants, a food park, Beer Garden, Ferris wheel, yacht/boat tour, museum, live performance - everything at the same place. Navy Pier offers something to every age group.
Once the kids have had their thrill rides, you can spend some time cruising the Chicago River on a sightseeing or speedboat tour or spend a few hours exploring the Chicago Children's Museum.
Visitors can also watch a film at the 3D Imax Theater, watch actors perform the classics at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, visit Crystal Gardens, a one-acre, six-story, indoor botanical garden, or enjoy themselves at a variety of shops or grab a drink at the Navy Pier Beer Garden.
Be sure to check Navy Pier's website for a list of events: Concerts are often held here, and from Memorial Day to Labor Day (as well as New Year's Eve),
Tip: go there on Wednesday and Saturday nights. impressive fireworks displays light up the skies these days.
you would definitely appreciate Navy Pier's picturesque water views and Chicago skyline.

It was hot in June; the roof-top lounge at the water-front end of the pier had opened the doors and turned off the air conditioning. That was a mistake.

My Peruvian friend who is visiting me at this moment and I we choose this place for the bbq ribs and we have the fortune to have Lauren as a server đwe couldnât have better waitress he wonderful smile and warmth a knowledge made us feel so good since min one đ„ł big hugs and love to this young lady who effortlessly made the tourist so welcoming and pleased to be in Margaritaville.
Bravo đđœ keep doing the good job Lauren đ„°đ

Great views, but we didn't have as much time as we would have liked. We had other plans that we had made, so Navy Pier had to be a little lower on our list.

Very impressive food court! As an all adult party in the autumn, there is limited things of interest. I can imagine this is super busy in the summer & great for kids.

In March 2024, my family and I visited this place. It's stunning, with indoor shops and a picturesque view. The Ferris Wheel is a must-try despite its high costâit's truly worth it.

Navy Pier always has lots to see and do as well as shopping and good food. Great family place to visit. You can dine in or out at a variety of restaurants. Lots of seating inside and even places to charge your phone or laptop.

We walked over here from the hotel and then onward along the shoreline to Millennium Park. Nice stroll!
It's mostly a hangout at night for drinks and such, but it offers great skyline views of downtown as well as expansive Lake Michigan views.
At the start of the pier are some fountains that children love to splash around in. No age limit đ

We were there at night so all the bright lights added to the attraction of this great venue. Take a ride on the carousel or the huge Ferris wheel.

Nice view over the lake. You can get a boat tour from the pier or a water taxi. They should organise more shaded areas for very hot days

Family of five, technically a $100.00 total just for the ferris wheel. Walked around whole pier. Fantastic for picture taking , There was really nothing else too see or do .The area was kinda of quiet.

Itâs an amazing place for a walk, the view of the lake and walking area around it is nice. There is also a Ferrisâs wheel there.

Lots of great eateries and activities, shopping for the entire family! You may wish to go just for dinner with friends or make an entire day of it.

We did not walk all the way out on the pier - went to the inside area of shops and restaurants. Touristy and nothing special - Iâd bet the pier itself would be fun with kids.

Went especially for the fireworks and they were incredible! Possibly the best weâve ever seen. Well worth the visit. Highlight of my trip so far! Plenty of bars and restaurants and little food vendors. Great atmosphere

Great tourist spot. Several bars and restaurants. I recommend the Offshore rooftop during happy hour. We will definitely be back

Great time with family. Parked in a safe garage jumped on a Wendella Chicago Architectural Tour. Moved over to the pier parking on the roof grabbed some good pics. We went shopping, walked all around the pier had nice lunch at Harry Carays Tavern stuffed with baseball memorabilia and photos of stars. All around good family time.

As a scenic spot, it's a nice stopover. We were walking the waterfront and walked down to the end. Never went inside. Great views of the city facing back west. There's not really any point in walking all the way to the end.

Really pleasant visit at any time of year (including the depths of winter). There aren't as many outdoor activities during the winter, but it's still a nice place to stroll, and there are plenty of restaurants and assorted activities taking place. Over the summer, they have theatre performances, concerts, and festivals here as well.

Even if you donât do any of the paid activities Navy Pier is a most pleasant walk with great views of the cityscape, lighthouses, ships, and people. It was great on a cool and mostly clear May evening.

Beautiful scenery, abit brisk wind off the lake felt really nice on the hot day we visited. There isn't much shade on the boardwalk, but there are buildings (like indoor malls) with shopping novelties & restaurant options. We got dropped off by BigBus, and left via a rideshare. Photo is of NavyPier, taken from my hotel room.

Great place for million dollar city views on the water. Numerous shops, restaurants, beer to enjoy. Childrens museum, theater, Ferris wheel and many kid activities including ice cream.

This is a good place to go and visit. There is a small amusement park that kids enjoyed. Ferry wheels was great, amazing views. Lots of places to grab a drink or eat a bite. There is also a children museum that we didn't go.

The walk along the pier at any time of day has different pleasure, lots of eateries & best was fresh Coconut water at the entrance of pier.

While we enjoyed walking the pier, it is a tourist trap - ferris Wheel, Imax, souvenir shops, boat rides and food. There is a Children's Museum, which we did not go to since we had no kids and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, which nothing was playing when we went. We did enjoy walking the outside of the pier and taking in the water, breeze and sights. We did not plan on going but had some time before our flight left our last day so we took it in. I did enjoy getting the original rainbow cone while there (now THAT was delicious). I wouldn't say don't go; I would say know what you are going to.

Beautiful space that can be admired while walking in the middle and especially John Hancock Center. There is a beautiful sculpture of children making the rounds.

Stopped here on a coach tour, had fun taking photos. Plenty to see , gift shops and places to eat. Got a great burger with everything on well you have to do it while in America

We really enjoyed visiting the Navy Pier especially my granddaughter. If you can handle a lot of walking it's worth the visit. We watched the boats and jet skiers. The inside was cool as well and even got a bite to eat. Will definitely be back.

A cute place that has plenty of restaurants, and shopping available!
When we were there, there was live music, crowded but not terribly so that you couldn't move.
The views of Lake Michigan were stunning!!! The view of the city in the background and sunset was unbeatable!
Definitely worth the stop especially being so close. We did our souvenir shopping here. You can walk outside, or you can walk inside in the buildings that are set up like a mall. It was cooler outside, so we did both.

It's a big attraction, a pier that sticks out in Lake Michigan where you can take a long walk and see some displays and amusements. Only good in pleasant weather, otherwise the wind can be rough.

We stayed at the hotel right on Navy Pier and so glad we did! What a beautiful view of the city, with so much to do! We were nervous about visiting Chicago in the middle of winter, but it turns out that winter is best time for people who don't love huge crowds. No wait for the Centennial Wheel and zero waits for a table at prime meal times. Most of the staff was lovely. Do miss the deep dish at Giordano's, it is phenomenal!

The city is wonderful! The people are very kind, Navy Pier is worth visiting. The ferris wheel gives a very beautiful view of the city! I recommend!

Top tourist attraction with many things to do like the Children's Museum, FlyOver Chicago, Centennial Wheel, stores, restaurants, etc. There are also several boating companies that offer Lake and River tours throughout the day. You can easily spend 4+ hours in this place.
There is also a hotel at the end of the pier.

There was a time not so long ago when state and city officials didn't know what to do with Navy Pier. It was an eyesore with a history that spans over a century, evolving from a shipping and recreational facility to a major entertainment and exposition center. Located at 600 East Grand Avenue, in the Streeterville neighborhood, steps off DuSable Lake Shore Drive, in the shadow of the 70-story Lake Point Tower residential skyscraper, Navy Pier is a 3,000-foot-long pier that juts into Lake Michigan and includes over 50 acres of shops, restaurants, live theaters, gardens, parks, family attractions, exhibition facilities, a 220-room luxury hotel, sightseeing cruises, a beer garden, Ferris wheel, Chicago Chlldren's Museum, art exhibits, a mini-golf course, a carousel and a host of amusements and rides, even fireworks every Wednesday at 9 p.m. and Saturday at 10 p.m. from May 24 to August 30. After opening in 1916, Navy Pier housed Navy personnel during World War 1. During World War 11, more than 60,000 military personnel trained here, including 15,000 fighter pilots. When the military moved out in 1946, the University of Illinois at Chicago moved in. However, it outgrew its maximum capacity of 5,500 students and left in 1965 when the Circle Campus was built. After an extensive redevelopment, expansion and improvements, Navy Pier reopened in July, 1995, offering a diverse and eclectic experience for guests, free and open year-round. While you are enjoying the rides and entertainment and shopping and sight-seeing, you have several options for eating and drinking, including Harry Caray's Tavern, Billy Goat Tavern, McDonald's, Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, Original Rainbow Cone, Ben and Jerry's, Potbelly Sandwich Shop, Giordano's, Starbucks, Navy Pier Beer Garden, Kilwin's Chocolates, Fudge and Ice Cream, Big City Chicken and Garrett Popcorn. Did I forget the Bob Newhart Statue, the USS Chicago's anchor and the 10 Tiffany Windows?

Walked all over at Navy Pier. We absolutely loved it. Loved the vibe and energy. They had some good food too. A nice Saturday afternoon with the wife.

Very underwhelmed. Unless you have something special scheduled to do there, I could have found better ways to spend the time. Some shopping and food, but definitely would not go back unless for an event.

Went on a Friday night and there were a lot of people there. So many things to do and eat and see. Its so close to a Coney Island experience. They just need the beach or Games of Chance. They have the rides and food like Coney Island but no games - and they have PLENTY of room for it!

Wow, it felt like a lot less than 10 years ago. Not much to do but walk around the pier, few shops to look at and food court. Rides are pretty expensive and crowded during summertime. Park in the middle of Pier, Milleniel Park, Riverwalk & the "bean" so you can walk and save $$ on several parking garages.

The Pier is a great place to head to for some great views out to the lake aswell as somewhere to get a bite to eat.

The "fishermans wharf" of Chicago, only without Sea lions. You have the usual touri nepp plus super nice views of the skyline. It is recommended not only the south side where fressbuden and "attractions" are but also the north side, just a quiet walk with a view to the north.
Navy Pier isnât really Doll but itâs kind of part of the Chicago visit. And if it's just a little strolling and what's snacking.
Very easily accessible by bus 66.

The Navi Peer is a beautiful area with lots of shops and boat trips. There are also a few rides here, such as the Ferris wheel.
Overall, it is a beautiful area, the price-performance ratio is average as everything is very expensive.

Located right on Lake Michigan the Navy Pier is one of Chicago's iconic places. On my visit it was a hot day, so the scene was crowded, outdoor dining areas were full, the boat tours were buzzing, just a good day to walk and enjoy the buzz. This place has something for every one, a kids museum, a small park with rides, restaurants that are full service, fast food, and street style, countless boat tours, and a few other attractions. This is great place to meet up with friends, grab a drink, enjoy a salsa concert, watch boats pass by, and see the many views of the Chicago skyline. I really my visit to the Navy Pier, and will be stopping by on my next visit to Chicago.

great place to take a leisurely stroll - it's worth having lunch there as it has good restaurants and snack bars - then walk along the pier which has a beautiful view of Lake Michigan and the city of Chicago

We visited a music festival at Navy Pier. It was our first time visiting this pier so we walked around and even rode the Ferris Wheel. The pier is enjoyable if you are ready to accept that it is a tourist destination and on the expensive side for food and attractions. We did enjoy ourselves but would only return when there are good music acts (ChiBrations) to add to the lake breeze.

We had lots of fun checking out the different siteS and stores at Navy Pier. I hate heights but the huge Ferris wheel that is iconic to Navy Pier was great! Itâs enclosed, goes slow and is very steady. Plus itâs a great way to see the beautiful Chicago skyline!

It is a very interesting and attractive place to walk and see beautiful views of the city of Chicago

Navy pier was a disappointment. All it is are restaurants and tour boat options. Unless you want to eat or drink- donât waste your time.

I hadn't been to Navy Pier in years, so I was surprised at how much there was to do there. Rides, shows, and lots of restaurants. The only downside is we didn't plan enough time to see everything we wanted to.

A great place for a nice long walk. Lots going on here between the restaurants, boats, concert and theatre venues, etc. We enjoyed walking all the way out to the end of the pier. Thereâs a nice view of the city from the end of the pier. The flowers along the pedestrian walkway on the marina-side of the pier were absolutely stunning - I saw a couple of the gardeners and gave them a huge compliment. Nice work, folks!

I remember coming to Navy Pier when I first moved to Chicago in 1997. I used to visit if often, just to sit by the water, trying new restaurants that opened and take all my out of town guests to experience it. It was always a treat.
This time I took my daughter for the first time and suffice to say, she loved it!
Itâs easy to navigate, very organized and even with the crowed, it didnât feel as busy as some other tourist attractions which was very pleasant. Great shops that helped get some fun memorabilia.
You know it was memorable when sheâs asked about it days later.

The ferris wheel is a bit overpriced for the few spins around that you get but a good way to see Chicago shoreline on a clear day. All other rides were not operating the Friday afternoon that we went???? Not sure why so you may want to check before going.

Honestly, I think this is aimed more for families with kids. We walked from the Grand Redline subway station...it was a LONG walk - not recommended. Once we got past the kiddie rides and the Ferris wheel it became more interesting. Great view of the lake and cool architecture on the pier. We found the famous Rainbow Cone shop, bought one and had a seat watching the boats come and go while eating it. There wasn't really much to do for two middle aged women. We walked back and caught a pedicab to a nearby beach that was only a few blocks from our hotel. That was probably the most fun we had while in the vicinity.

It was a nice safe place to walk around for a couple of hours. There are plenty of places to eat and buy souvenirs. Nothing really stood out as needing to make a second trip. Parking was $32.00.

Great view of skyscrapers and Lake Michigan. Notable attractions include the noria and the many sightseeing cruises departing from its docks. The attached photos are seen from the noria

Great place to visit for everyone with good choice of shop and many places to eat and drink with lively bars.

Pleasant ride overlooking Chicago's Navy Pier and skyline. Glass doors and ceilings for each gondola/capsule seemed thick and insulated us from the cold air. Nice experience :)

Itâs worth a quick walk down the pier but anything you buy is even more over priced than typical Chicago. They have a Margaritaville and another Tavern on the pier. You can catch a boat tour from there if youâre interested.

Navy Pier occupies a central position just at the spot where Chicago river joins Lake Michigan. Mostly, it's an entertaining venue with many tourist attractions, shops, eateries and a ferris wheel, plus the Children museum.
Best imo are the city views from it, all other seem like a tourist money draw.

Navy pier is a good destination for anyone visiting Chicago. Like all tourist venues/locations in this city everything is expensive. Boat/river tours, ferris wheel, shops, bars and amusements available. Fantastic views. Most tourist venues in Chicago will only take card payments!

The views were awesome! It can be pretty expensive, especially for the wheel. Itâs a great way to spend time, definitely recommend coming!

Definitely recommend this place to visit. Good food options, cruise boats and definitely get on the Ferris wheel for an awesome view!

This is a good place to stop by when youâre in the city; plenty of dining options and things to do. Despite being the beginning of October and a work day, it was still fairly busy due to the good weather. It is definitely worth a visit

Great pier, probably the best i have been to, however, the line for the rides is usually pretty big.

NO BOB NEWHART STATUE. The website needs to be updated. They advertised a statue of famous comedian Bob Newhart. My family and I walked forever to find it. IT WAS NOT THERE!!! Being a big Newhart fan you can imagine my disappointment and on top of that. We walked from Shed Aquarium! That was a long haul for nothing.

Stopped here while in town. Cute stores, neat places to see, lots to do and restaurants, would recommend if your in the area

The highlight of the Navy Pier is the Centennial Wheel. You will wait to buy a ticket, wait to board, and be finished before you know it. The ride is three revolutions, and costs $18. So you are paying $6/revolution. Is it worth that much?

Navy Pier is certainly great place to visit and since we were there on Saturday, despite expected crowds, we run into fun activities with live music, dancing and lots of fun. It was beautiful to see Chicago skyline and enjoy ice cream on another warm summer day. Definitely worth the visit as it us one of quintessential Chicago attractions.

I really enjoyed our visit. Untill time to leave Parking is over priced $37 for 2 1/2 hours. My advice shop around for parking

Navy Pier is one of those iconic Chicago spots that you kind of have to check out at least once and Iâm glad I did. Itâs a lively stretch of entertainment, food, and lakefront views thatâs perfect for a laid-back afternoon with friends or family.
We strolled the length of the pier, soaking in the breeze off Lake Michigan and enjoying the skyline view it really gives you that âthis is Chicagoâ feeling. The Centennial Wheel is a must. Even if youâve done Ferris wheels before, thereâs something special about seeing the city and the water from up high, especially around sunset.
Inside, thereâs a decent selection of shops and restaurants. Nothing overly unique, but enough variety that we all found something to snack on (hello, Garrett Popcorn). There was live music going on when we were there, which added a fun atmosphere without being overwhelming.
Itâs definitely touristy expect crowds, especially on weekends or during warmer months but thatâs part of its charm. Youâre not coming here for quiet reflection, youâre coming for energy, lake views, and a classic Chicago outing.

We walked to the end of the pier and back. We wanted to see the Bob Newhart sculpture at the end of the pier. We walked indoors and outdoors on a hot September day. Parking is available in several parking garages. You could also take mass transit to the pier. Check online. The lake is lovely. There are many restaurants and activities on the pier. There is a ballroom, Shakespeare theater, huge Ferris wheel, childrenâs museum, and much more! You could easily spend two hours here. The flowers and plants are beautiful. I recommend a visit.

The Navy Pier was very nice; favorite restaurant was Margaritaville. Boats to tour, bikes to ride. Be sure to come back at night for the Wed or Sat fireworks.

A lovely way to get close to the water while having a great view of the city skyline. We walked around the perimeter of the pier enjoying all the sights available.
I was surprised that, from the outside, we really couldn't tell that there was so much going on inside - I expected the shops and restaurants to all open to the outside of the pier, but this was not the case (perhaps due to the temperature?).
Once inside, there was lots more to see, so a great place to visit.

An awesome place to watch fireworks on Saturday nights.
There is a lot to do at Navy Pier and a recommended stop.
Looking for a decent burger at a decent price the burger place in the food court across from McDonalds is a win!

Located right on the lake this place is great for an evening walk. There's plenty of places to get a good meal and loads of walk up bars to.get a drink. It's a must do when in Chicago.

Navy Pier used to be one of the funnest attractions on the waterfront âŠmaybe itâs just because itâs winter âŠbut inside itâs just a bunch of stores and trinket shops. Hopefully, there is more activities in the summer

It was nice but very crowded. Seems to have good food options. Good walking shoes recommended. Nice for a leisure time even if not for activities or food.

Perfect time to go is in November. The weather was perfect- it wasnât crowded. The views were spectacular. Book a stay at the sable and you have access to the whole navy pier area indoors.

While the wife was doing a little shopping, a Pier worker kept me occupied with my touristy questions. I believe his name was George he's very informative and friendly!!

Me and my 3 men took a walk...we all thought this was pretty lame. We knew it was a tourist trap, but it was lifeless in October. Don't go unless you have run out of things to do.
-Food Hall, includes lots of chains. Tourist Trap restaurants.
-Touristy Chicago ouvenir shops
-Basic Carnival Rides...great if you have kids?
-Beer Garden at the very end...serving up mainly national beers you can find anywhere. Way overpriced
-Views...pretty views I suppose

Rode the ferris wheel. Took the Architecture tour on the river. Ate at Harry Careyâs and sat next to Bob Newhart .

Rain or shine, cold and windy, this place is a comfortable venue for all ages. A great place to go see Chicago memorabilia.

We visited the pier one evening on a warm October evening
It is a lovely way to see the city illuminated at night and see the lake. There are so great restate eat here as well

When sun is shining it is a n or place to take a stroll , also has the varied gift shops, restaurants where you can take shelter from the heat. Good place to pick up some boat trips . Definitely worth a visit - only downside is a few units remain empty

Amazing views! It a must visit when you visit Chicago! I have videos that I reflect on how beautiful this city looks!

Very family focused - lots of children. We did the wheel, expensive, but great views of the city. Nice walk around the pier.

Not much there really. Ferries wheel, Childrenâs museum, bars. The view was spectacular but nothing big for me. Also we were there about 12 ok nothing open yet. Plan go later maybe

Was going to check out the Fireworks on a Saturday night at 10 pm but there was rain in the forcast for the evening so decided to take a walk later in the day to check out the place. (There is also fireworks on Wednesday that start at 9:30pm.) Fireworks last for 10 minutes only. There was music playing at the stage in a park waterfront across to your right from Navy Pier just before you enter the front entrance. An interesting statue of children holding hands is right there. Stayed only a short time as I had no interest in the few rides there. Since it was my 1st time to Chicago I should at least see what Navy Pier is all about.

Visiting the pier and we walked around as the weather was not too great. It is a nice place to visit in the summer. Inside there are little shops, you can get your souvenirs and eat something. Outside there are boats, a wheel and other attractions. Walking distance from the beach.

Go for the views and the history of the area. Thats what makes this place an attraction. It does have lots of places to eat, some places to shop, a childrenâs museum, and some rides, but they are geared to tourists and are expensive.

This is a great place to enjoy a sunny day in Chicago. The ferris wheel gives a great overview over both Lake Michigan and the skyline!

A visit to Navy Pier would not be high on my priority list except for the Ferris Wheel ride. Some fast food eateries & a beautiful view of the lake but there is too many other things to see and do.

The walk was lovely on a fine day, there are some interesting shops/stalls. The wheel looked amazing, but we didnât go on it.

This is the Coney Island đïž of Chicago. Another thing they have amusement park rides like Coney Island đïž. Also theyâre are shops and restaurants too. Lastly, I could go here anytime

There so many food choice here and there is great view around the restaurants. We walk through entire place to find some good food.

We were there on a Saturday evening and by chance stayed during the night hour that there were fireworks! The view is simply fantastic with many boats on the lake. So if you are planning to visit Navy Pier in the summer season, you might want to consider checking firework schedule and enjoy the night view!

Big vehicle- park in East garage
Bathrooms through door marked 88 but donât follow through the inside area. Leave parking garage & walk outside. Walk all the way around the pier, itâs huge but worth it.
No free trolley as one website stated!!!!
Security was clueless about trolley, not helpful!!!!

My husband wanted to go here. Having been to Chicago many times, this is one place I would not bother to go to. Nothing there, some food places are a few shops. If you want a boat trip they are available here.

We headed to Navy Pier one sunny afternoon during our vacation. I think one needs to have realistic expectations about what there is to do and the target audience. We had been there before, so we knew that, for us, it was mainly about getting out onto the pier for some great views of the lake, a little shopping, and a trip on the Ferris wheel. Had I been there with friends instead of teenagers, I would have enjoyed cocktails at one of the fun bars all along the pier. The Ferris wheel was a big hit with our group. Great pictures.
I would say to a first-time visitor to Chicago to research what is there to do before going so you're not disappointed.

The pier had a little something for everyone in our family. Donât miss rainbow ice cream and the Ferris wheel. Lots of places to board boat tours and some fun shops for souvenirs. A short walk away there were fountains for the kids to run through and a beach where they city glows off the water at night. Suggest Lyft or walking depending on how close you are staying. Parking is expensive everywhere you go in Chicago!

Very nice. Good selection of food and dining. Fun activities in winter such as indoor sledding, ice skating, etc. The Ferris wheel was enjoyable.

Navy Pier is a great spot to hangout for an hour or two and just relax. Many food options if you're looking for dinner. The end of the pier is one of the best spots to see the city skyline. The popular Pixar putt is also outside navy pier.

Gorgeous city skyline views! Lots to do! Lots to see! Beautiful views of Lake Michigan. Plenty of entertainment. Highly recommend!

Just be prepared for the wind...........it was nice and warm and people were out and about. It was our first time visiting the Pier. It was nicely done and very spread out so you could move about even when it was busy.
We will come back for the boat tours and probably some good food as well.
The view is just absolutely beautiful. It is really hard to believe it is a freshwater lake. Reminded us alot of the Destin FL harbor.

Everyone that goes to Chicago needs to check out Navy Pier. Itâs a permanent fixture with a theme park feel and a great ferris wheel.

Navy Pier is a 1.1 km long pier situated on Lake Michigan and one of Chicago's most popular attractions. It was opened to the public in 1916 and has served a variety of purposes over the past century including handling freight and passenger traffic as well as being a training centre for the U.S. Navy during WWII and even being the location of a University of Illinois at Chicago campus for a time.
Today, Navy Pier is dedicated for entertainment, hospitality and events. There is a hotel, plenty bars, restaurants, coffee shops, some retail shopping, ferris wheel, theatre, Children's Museum as well as river and cruise boat trips which originate from the Pier. Some really good views of the Lake as well as the Chicago Skyline as well.
It is a neat historic location for those looking for a place to enjoy 2-3 hours with families and groups of friends.

Had a great time - fun rides, great views, and lots of options for meals and snacks. Kids were entertained and parents weren't bored. Success!

I donât know if it was the time of year or day of the week, but the Navy pier was absolutely DISAPPOINTING! There was absolutely nothing going on there! Nothing was open!

We loved the pier! Great views, fun to ride the large Ferris wheel to see the views. Good shopping inside for tourist items. We ate at Giordanos pizza and had great service and pizza.

First time here and if you are hungry and leave hungry, you only have yourself to blame. A ton of restaurants and bars! Some very nice gift shops and souvenir stores. Beautiful views of the city and lake!

This was a fun venue for a group party. Big outdoor space and cozy inside space. The slider appetizers were great and everyone liked their drinks and the beer and wine was also great. The servers (Nigel and another one) were very nice but our group was a bit too big for these two folks that we had so it was a bit slow. I would think that itâs normally pretty great in that department as well.
Liked it also and look forward to coming back!

The pier has a lot to do, let it be with friends or family (kids). There are restaurants, fun activityâs, tour boats including a speed boat. The Farris wheel and rides for kids and beautiful views of lake and down town Chicago. Lots of ppl watching. Walking distance from many hotels.

Nice place to go shopping if looking for "Chicago " items. Nice variety of food places. Great location set out next to river and have lunch. Prices are average. I would visit there again.

Along this long pier you can find a wide range of places to eat and some attractions. There are good views of the city.

The place has everything! great views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago Skyline as well as some cool stores and some good food. My only regret was not doing one of the boat tours. Next time I would also like to go a night to be able to see the skyline all lit up. Make sure that you wear comfortable shoes and something to protect you from the sun. Other than inside of the building there are many places to escape the sun.

TONS of walking! I had over 14k steps for the day after visiting the Pier. We walked from our hotel (Sheraton) and then back/forth 2x. All shops are indoors. We missed them all the first time down the pier.

It's just a park with some carnival rides on it and not a whole lot else. There are some nice views of the city here which made good photo ops but I wouldn't go out of my way to see this. Maybe it's more fun if you have kids.

We enjoyed walking around here after our river tour. There are a number of eateries and activities and there are excellent views of the skyline.

Ride the ferris wheel, enjoy some deep dish and a beer or a chi dog and a cone and wander. All manner of bike rentals and boat rides available, fountains to cool off in, lots of shops inside and out. Seating and clean restrooms available throughout. Small theme park for the little ones. And a spectac view of the shoreline. This place has had a bum rap recently. It was VERY well maintained and felt quite safe on a recent and relatively crowded summer afternoon.

There is always something happening at Navy Pier. It is full of activities, restaurants, and music. I have attended so many free concerts at one of 3 outdoor stages, it is amazing. The views of the City are great too.

Close enough to walk from Millenium Park to Navy Pier, enjoy city skyline and beautiful sunset pictures.

The Pier was great place to go to with my girlfriend. While it was a little busy, it was in no way suffocating. If you want to get a good view of the skyline and the lake I would recommend getting a ticket to get onto the Centennial Wheel. The views were phenomenal and walking on the lakefront trail was a good way to end on a fantastic day.

It was a really good experience. Well customer service. The line was not long , but it moved faster than expected. We enjoy seeing everyhting from up there.

Lovely place to walk and forget about the bustling city. Great attractions and friendly people. The shoreline cruises are fun to do.

Navy pier sits on the shores of Lake Michigan in the Near Northside of Chicago, The one mile long pier is very much a major tourist attraction that has a fairground. a botanical garden , a children's museum, a Shakespearian theatre and an Imax cinema plus a number of bars and restaurants. So you are absolutely spoilt for choice as it would take an unlimited amount of time to take in everything that this great site has to offer. In addition to all of this the pier is a boarding point for boat rides on the lake and the Chicago River as well as being quite close to a number of the city's other attractions. If there is just one place to see in Chicago then the Navy Pier must be it.

George is so friendly! Heâs a real asset to the Navy Pier staff! He really seemed to be enjoying his job. And, he treated us humble tourists as if weâd known him for years.

Just wanted to warn anyone who wants to visit the Bob Newhart statue at the end of the pier-beware it could be blocked off due to private functions. I walked 2km just to see it today and was turned back almost within sight. This was at 10AM on a Tuesday The private event was booked to 7 PM. We leave tomorrow. Sigh.

Loved this pier, loads shops, boat rides and pubs, cafes. We went to Harry's for food and was impressed.

We did a lot of walking and shopping, ate at Harry Carryâs, rode the huge Ferris wheel, took the river architecture tour and went on the Tall Windy Sail at sunset. Great day!

very disappointed I lived here before and used to have shops and good places to eat now nothing very little stores ..very disappoimting. parking is headache must take bus and thats inconvenient just changed way too much

Navy Pier, Chicago, is a popular destination for both residents and visitors! The Pier, renovated in the early 1990s, has something to offer for all ages. It is expansive and has a wide variety of entertainment, including the Children's Museum, Rides & Games, Restaurants, Live Events, and Great Views of Lake Michigan! We spent hours in the Children's Museum, and our 6-year-old granddaughter loved it. The Navy Pier also hosts Saturday Night Fireworks, which attracts a large audience. You have to arrive early to get a seat with a good view. We found a less populated area with a spectacular view of the fireworks by the nearby marina! We would love to return and explore more!!

OK, so I'm really not a fan of heights, but my family talked me into this ride. The views were pretty amazing, but I did hand my husband the camera...we were pretty high up. The line moved pretty quickly for us, so we didn't feel the need for the "Fast Pass" (which costs A LOT more). We did at least 3 full revolutions...it was worth the cost.

Such a nice area the Ferris wheel was nice can see the skyline a little pricey but would recommend. There was a lot to do with the kids they had mini golf, teacups, a snow slide, axe throwing. Decorations for Christmas were so nice

I reccomend to go for a walk at Navy Pier during the week. Saturday and Sunday is often overcrowded. You will find many places for eating and drinking. From the city center is only 15 min walk.

Great place to walk and relax with the fam â 1.5 mile round trip out and back. Plenty of benches and such to stop and chill on tge water.

A little windy on the Pier as to be expected. I just had a walk along the promenade, show the big week and the other sights. Got to see a different view of the City from their and more of the Lake Michigan too. If you like to walk this is a good place to be

Go on a nice day and you wonât be disappointed. The views are spectacular and you can see lots of boats, the wonderful architecture of the city skyline, and the beach. The ride goes around 3 times, which is ample.

Another place to go to shop and eat. Clean, I enjoyed the views from the pier and the public bathrooms were clean.

I'm so glad we came. The funhouse and the games were super fun. The Ferris Wheel was dumb, though. Save your money there.

The hours of operation listed online werenât accurate, they closed at 8pm on a Sunday. We arrived at 7:52 they wouldnât allow us in

Navy Pier may be touristy, but it is an absolute blast! Everything you could want from a destination - food, events, tours, rides, and shopping. You could easily spend an entire day walking around the pier and not run out of things to do. I highly recommend coming during the weekend, as some venues are closed during the work week. Would have loved to check out the beer garden. The view of the skyline is spectacular. I can't wait to come back on our next trip to Chicago.

It is a pleasant place to enjoy with the family, in fact there are three more attractions to enjoy right there, summer is a perfect date to visit this place.

Worth the money! Our group of 6 rode on the Centennial Wheel together and it was phenomenal. I can only imagine when all the rides going during peak season. We enjoyed the shopping around pier also.

Great place to stop, eat and rest. Child and family friendly area. Lots of rides for kids. Went on through Centennial wheel, a bit expensive for 4 people,$94. The wheel had AC and it went around 3x. It was the air show that weekend so it was really cool to be at Navy Pier during that time.

The site has a variety of activities from lake boating tours, oldest site of the cityâs Ferris wheel, several restaurants of different values and hotels. On a sunny day this is a welcoming location to see the lake and skyline of Chicago. Good for several hours of exploring, people watching, and exercise.

It is a nice site to see but definitely overrated- I would call it just your average pier- overcrowded. No room to breathe- water is absolutely splendid to look at

Go to the tip end of the pier on a pretty Summer day and you might get to watch the waverunners jumping 6â+ in the air over the boat-made waves! Itâs an absolute top-notch free & exciting show for all ages - SMILES EVERYWHERE!!

We love visiting the Navy Pier. We rode the "eye" and seen all the sights
Over the summer, they have theatre performances, concerts, and festivals here as well.
Fireworks during the summer on Wednesday and Saturday nights. It is expensive Very crowded on weekends. You can get some local favorites like Garrett Popcorn and Kilwins.

I rode the Seadog and out crew was awesome. The guide, EDDDIE was very informative and funny. Make sure you ask for Eddieâs boat. Then our capturing was captain Swag. They played the best music.
Great for family and friends. Itâs only 30 minutes but if you sit in the back, youâre guaranteed to cool off with a little splash.

Great variety of food and drinks as well as open concerts. House music museum was a great place to get history and cool off in a great location

I'm not a big fan of crowds and navy pier is teeming with people! But it's on beautiful Lake Michigan, there are a ton of restaurants (even if they are chain restaurants). Best of all, there are several beer gardens and outdoor bars to get booze from (beer, seltzer, basic cocktails, frozen drinks)--so you can sip your beverage while strolling, people watching, or just enjoying the vista. There are plenty of seating options. There's also the Ferris wheel and a few other amusements. Close to Ohio street beach and what they call concrete beach.
You can purchase boat tours, rent bikes. There are fireworks Wednesday and Monday evenings.
It might be touristy and crowded, but it really isn't a bad way to spend an afternoon.

This place is definitely getting an upgrade from my last visit, and it's been several years. I like the indoor dining and shopping area, although there aren't a lot of shopping choices. Of course the pier is iconic, so it's worth a walk to the end. I guess the only problem with the pier, it's so large and so long, if you're not just in it for the exercise, there isn't much of a purpose in taking the walk. There's a ferris wheel and some cool spots for tourist photos. There are also some nice public benches and recliner like seats at the lake end of the pier. On a beautiful day it is a nice walk.

We always enjoy visiting Navy Pier when in Chicago. Never a dull moment and always so much to see and do. Doesn't matter the time of the year it is always a great visit and we find so much to do here. All the shops are awesome.

We love visiting the Navy Pier. We rode the "eye" and seen all the sights, enjoyed ice cream, and had hoped for fire works but found out, unfortunately, they do not hold them on the 4th of July. After paying the parking fee, that was such a bummer to know.

This is a major tourist area with a huge Ferris Wheel, loads of bars, shops, cafes and restaurants. Great place to walk. There are plenty of tourist boats to utilise if you want. live music available.

This place is nice with a mix of tourist and regulars. Nice waterfront spot. Take time to see. Great views of the city and buildings. It is free so nothing to loose.

A lovely place to spend a day by the sea
Lots of options for dining
You can also take a boat tour

Beautiful area to relax and take pictures. Lots to do including shop, eat, and take in the views. They offer boat tours although we did not take one.

It is a very nice leiux and there are attractions, shops and also way to eat, we were there as a family and we had a nice Day.
You can falne along the water but also take excursions

Just about everything said you need to see Navy Pier for a complete visit to Chicago. I knew it had the Centennial Wheel, but I really did not know much else. Let me say we had an incredible evening with so much to do.
One of the great things Chicago did was to envisioned a much more recreational and residential waterfront as opposed to other Great Lake cities like Cleveland. With an industrial waterfront further to the south, Chicago does not really have a place for vessels in the downtown Loop area, except Navy Pier.
Historically built for possible passenger and cargo transport, it evolved into more office usage as the Navy actual user for training in WWII. Afterwards it was part of the University of Chicago and then underutilized until the late 1990s. Then there was a redevelopment idea for an entertainment destination with museum, theater, attractions and rides, along with food and hospitality.
We visited to see what was there and we loved our ride on the Centennial Wheel. However, we were totally unprepared for the number of people we saw only to realize Wednesdays are fireworks. So we stayed and enjoyed views of the city changing from sunset to night as well as fireworks over the lake. Again it was a fun evening. I am so glad we made the visit.

Decided to ride this attraction at sunset to see Chicago from a different angle. WOW is all I can say about this view. It is definitely a must do when in town.

Fun for all. Lots of good food, entertainment, fun things to do. It was interesting to see Navy Pierâs version of the London Eye. A fun thing to do on a clear sunny day.

The Ferris wheel now costs 18$ per person and the rest - whether drinks or food are absurdly expensive, as are the amusement for children...
Conclusion: If you have time in Chicago you can take a look, please don't expect too much and certainly not bring hunger or thirst.

Navy Pier originally opened way back in 1916 as the 'Municipal Pier' Today it is a popular visitor attraction on the shoreline of Lake Michigan. The Pier has shops, restaurants, live theatre, family attractions, parks, gardens, and exhibition facilities. It is Chicago's second-most visited tourist attraction.

There is so much to do in this area of Chicago. The Navy pier offers great views and lots of entertainment. We started at the splash pad on the hot day we visited which was next to the butterfly conservatory. On the top floor of the pier were rides and miniature golf. There are plenty of eateries and little shops to browse. The area was clean and had a cool vibe to it. Enjoyed walking around.

We had a good time at the pier. We had decent priced beers at Billy Goat bar.
Not as exciting as itâs made out to be but worth a trip.
We went to have a beer at the beer garden but it wasnât open. Which was a better thing in the end as they were really expensive if the beer garden had been open

Great sunrise view! I didnât go into the pier, rather just visited early for a spectacular water view at dawn. I cannot imagine a much better sunrise in the state of Illinois.

Canât say youâve been to Chicago without strolling along the Navy Pier! Itâs as connected to the city as pizza and the Chicago Theater.

The views are great and since itâs on the water, itâs a little cooler in the summer heat. Plenty of places to eat and walk. There are a few rides and a giant ferris wheel. Unless there were something special happening, like fireworks or a concert, itâs not somewhere I would likely go again. Itâs not a bad experience just not a repeat one for a visitor.

It is advisable to arrive early, a good place to walk, take photos and enjoy several food establishments and views of the city from the pier, as well as activities and events with some live groups in the summer.

Navy pier is beautiful, we had a great time as a family. The Ferris wheel did not disappoint a bunch of fun.
Restaurant were a little crowded for my taste but conveniently located close to attractions.

Navy pier is an unmissable ride if you travel with children , has an amusement park with an amazing giant wheel, food plaza businesses to buy from clothes to souvenirs, all inside a pier , just spectacular.

Loved walking out to the furthest end of the pier and watching the boats in the distance. The Ferris wheel was extra cost, but gave you great views (and photo ops) of the Lake and Chicago Skyline. Extensive shopping and food court inside. Other family friendly rides but they all seemed to be closed. Not sure if it was due to weather or the time of year. Parks close by for a nice walk and a even a small beach.

A wonderful entertainment, recreation, food and beverage and recreation area located by the lake, within walking distance of the city center. It is a very long and wide platform extending into the lake. Amphitheatre, where you can enjoy watching different shows, music and games almost every day. A huge Ferris wheel offers wonderful city and lake views. You can have these views even if you don't ride the Ferris wheel in this event area. Dozens of eating and drinking areas, sightseeing points where you can take lake and river tours, seating areas along the platform where you can sit and relax and watch the beautiful city and the lake, lush green parks and walking areas at the entrance, golden beaches where you can enter the lake, and there are those who do, or watch the surroundings. We learned that the water of the lake is not just that, it is really cold. Chicago is already a peaceful, calm, green and clean city. Navy Pier is a very special part of this city that needs to be visited, seen and breathed. Definitely take your time and enjoy it.

I remember when I covered a high school basketball game at Navy Pier in the early 1970s. The University of Illinois-Chicago, which had conducted classes on the property at 600 East Grand Avenue since 1946, had relocated to its Circle campus in 1965 and the surroundings were dark and dreary and dilapidated. What was to become of the place? Well, Navy Pier's renaissance began in 1995 with a redesign and renovation that converted the 3,300-foot-long pier on the shoreline of Lake Michigan in Chicago's Streeterville neighborhood into over 50 acres of parks, gardens, shops, restaurants, family attractions, cultural and exhibition facilities, a Children's Museum, even the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, a giant Ferris wheel and a posh seven-story, 240-room hotel. It is one of the leading go-to destinations in the Midwest, drawing over nine million visitors annually. Depending on which survey you choose to believe, it is one of the top two or three tourist attractions in Chicago. Not bad for a facility that once was used as a jail for draft dodgers. The view of Chicago's skyline and waterfront from Navy Pier is spectacular and visitors have several boat sightseeing options to choose from. Food lovers won't go wanting, either, whether it be Chicago-style hot dogs or pizza or popcorn or BBQ ribs or ice cream or fine dining. The list of restaurants includes Beatrix, Purple Pig, Original Rainbow Cone, Giordano's, Garrett Popcorn Shops, Carson's Ribs, Brown Sugar Bakery, Relish Chicago Hot Dogs and Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville Bar & Grill. For adults and children alike, it's a wonderful place to spend a day.

Only open till 9 on weekends so get there early to get on rides. Some decent choices for food. Fun being out on the lake. Fireworks in summer on Tuesdays and Saturdayâs.

So fun to go to the Pier and ride the ferris wheel and see all the sights. Good people watching too!

For adults, thereâs not a lot to do. We saw the Lake Michigan beach just off the Pier. Ate a Chicago dog at the permanent site as you head onto the Pier. Ate a Rainbow cone near the end of the Pier. Beautiful views of the lake with sailboats and a little lighthouse I wish I couldâve read about. Rest up at the end of the Pier where youâll find an anchor from a USS Chicago. Less fun than advertised but I was able to eat two of the famous Chicago foods in one location

Although we did not do any activities here it was still a fun and lively place to be, with a great unique view of the city. There are also a bunch of shops and restaurants on the pier which are worth a browse.

Very pretty pier and enjoyable walk to the end where you will see the great Lake Michigan, beautiful lighthouse and the skyline of the city.

Usually when we visit Chicago we come to Navy Pier at least once. There is always something to do and/or see. This time we went to FlyOver Chicago, which is a MUST DO. We also at Harry Careyâs Tavern (both I did separate reviews on). They also do fireworks during the summer. We made sure to catch them before we left Navy Pier. I will say check their calendar before you go because there can always be some event going on. We went there was an event going on that had food tents set up and live music.

We were in Chicago to attend a few games at Wrigley. On the first day we walked to the Navy Pier from our hotel. We walked along the water and saw the Ferris wheel in the distance. Upon arriving at the Navy pier we explored the perimeter with several restaurants and boat rides available for your pleasure. I thought I had done my research but upon entering the lower level we found many eateries and quaint shops to explore. There were a few rides on the upper level with the Ferris wheel being the highlight. We spent about 3 hours at the pier and met several nice people and the security guards were both friendly and informative. Not only about the pier but things to do in Chicago. If youâd like a relaxing few hours to explore this is a good place to visit

Had a great time spending part of our second night in Chicago at the pier. Place was packed but safe.

My wife and I walked navy pier but really didn't do any activities here . Had great views on our walk but it was mainly just bars and restaurants.

My wife and I visited Navy Pier to take an evening dinner cruise on Lake Michigan during a business conference that I attended this past July. We saw some great views of the Chicago skyline from the boat as well as some spectacular views of the sunset.

Navy Pier has come a long way since it opened in 1916. The 3,300-foot-long pier at 600 East Grand Avenue in Chicago, on the shoreline of Lake Michigan, in the city's Streeterville neighborhood, covers over 50 acres of parks, restaurants, gardens, shops, family attractions, exhibition facilities and a hotel. Put it all together and you have Chicago's No. 2 tourist attraction after nearby Millennium Park. One of the most visited attractions in the Midwest, it draws nine million visitors annually. In 1918, Navy Pier was used as a jail for World War I draft dodgers. During World War II, it was a training center for the U.S. Navy. Later, the University of Illinois-Chicago held classes at Navy Pier. Efforts to update the property for the 21st century began in 2006 with a major renovation that included a monorail, 260-foot Ferris wheel, floating hotel, roller coaster and water park. In 2010, additions included a concert venue, enlarged Chicago Shakespeare Theatre space, new restaurants and renovated commercial area. In 2013-2014, work began on a redevelopment plan to keep Navy Pier as a world-class public space and to renovate the pier so it will have more evening and year-round entertainment and design features, including a 196-foot Ferris wheel and more rides, a seven-story, 240-room hotel, a 13-acre park, ice rink, docking facility, elevated overlook walkway and Chicago Children's Museum. Historically, the anchor of the USS Chicago is on display at the end of the pier. Aside from many dining and shopping options, visitors can arrange for several sightseeing tours via cruises and water taxi service and enjoy fireworks displays on Wednesday and Saturday nights. Navy Pier reminds of a giant food court. Take your pick...McDonald's, Kilwin's Chocolates, Fudge and Ice Cream, Original Rainbow Cone, Potbelly Sandwich Shop, Harry Caray's Tavern, Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville Bar & Grill, Giordano's, Billy Goat Tavern, Garrett Popcorn, Chef Art Smith's Reunion, Beat Kitchen's Bar Sol, Offshore Rooftop, Navy Pier Beer Garden, Big City Chicken, America's Dog & Burger, Lirica, Frankie's Pizza by the Slice, Jake's on the Lake, Ben & Jerry's and AMRI Juice Bar. Parking is convenient and plentiful and the views of the lakefront and Chicago's skyline are spectacular.

I think this is a must visit place in Chicago. You can find food, museum, souvenirs and shops here. The atmosphere was really nice. And its view to the sea also nice.

The kids will probably love it, because they don't understand how much money it costs for the swing ride or the climbing wall. They also prefer the chain restaurants to something more unique and local.
Parents will probably find it ok. It is expensive, but if you are looking to kill and hour or two and walk in a crowd of other tourists, this is the place to do it.
Chicago has a lot of unique places to visit. Spend more of your time at those places than here.

Iâve been to Chicago numerous times but finally ventured to Navy Pier with our toddler. I pictured a Coney Island experience but it was far from that. There are very few rides and no passes to allow multiple rides. My toddler loved the carousel but at $9 a ride and hardly a line I felt we should have gotten at least two rides for that price. Itâs basically a mall. If you are limited on time the massive food court is a good way to try food from various Chicago landmarks but besides that save your money and go walk around the downtown instead.

Great views. Short ride. Not really sure it's worth the money, but it's a good place to sit for a while. The cars are large so my whole family was able to fit in one car.

Navy pier is super fun. You can ride ferris wheel and see whole city from the top. The carousel is also cool, especially for kids. There are lots of yummy food options, like ice cream/ juice and don't miss the garret popcorn. It is place to relax and view the lake Michigan in the evening. I liked walking along the pier and watching boats go by. It is must visit if you are visiting chicago and there will be crowd during summer. So plan your trip accordingly.

If the day is very hot, it's great that the food boxes are indoors and there is air conditioning. The same goes for the cold! It's pretty, with lots of fast food and no really good restaurants! But the outdoor space allows for a pleasant walk if the weather permits! The attractions on the external stage are very noisy and you can't see green, except in the water! You need to go because boats leave from there for tours on the Chicago River and Lake Michigan, but there are much more interesting piers in San Francisco and San Diego, for example!

great tourist shopping...great dining...great views with wonderful photo opportunities...loved our experience...

Iâm going on the architectural river cruise I deliberately chose the departure from Navy pier so that we could have a reason to see Navy pier. Since we were there during the heat wave we really had no interest in the rides or exploring outdoors. We mostly explored the indoor mall and ate lunch. The mall seemingly went on forever, but we are very disappointed that Xurro Had closed but was still listed as being at navy pier. The mall was fun, it was cool, but had I not gone there for ever for a cruise I would have been disappointed to have wasted time going there.

During the summer, there is a fireworks show on Wednesday and Saturday nights. The show was good and the view of the skyline was very nice. There were SO many people. Due to the popularity of the pier and the fireworks, traffic was horrendous, and there were long wait times for nearly all restaurants. Plan ahead and go early.
On the other hand, there is a lot to do! I noticed multiple restaurants, shops, several places to get souvenirs, and a childrenâs museum. Navy Pier has a good website that lists all of the restaurants, shops, and attractions.

If you're in Chicago, you can't miss Navy Pier. At the bottom there is a beautiful view of the skyline and you can relax on wooden benches. Inside there are so many things to do and so many choices to eat.

Better if you have kids along, because of the indoor kid park inside. And the giant ferris wheel on top (bring a jacket it can get pretty cold up there.

Lots to do. From shopping to eating to attractions, it keeps you busy. Relaxing to walk around. Very windy however.

Super chevere the experience stroll through the area, eat there, the wheel is emblematic and we could not stop riding on it!!

I bought unlimited ride wristbands for my 15-year-old Granddaughter and her friend. What a waste of money! This only included the ferris wheel, carrousel, and a few kiddie rides. The drop tower is $9 a person per ride. Crazy expensive!!

Excellent place to walk and enjoy the view. In addition to the many attractions there, you will find great restaurants and much to see. Take the opportunity to go early and explore the entire fascinating place.

I had an absolutely awful experience today at Navy Pier due to how I was treated by the security staff, not by the Seadog Cruise team, who were wonderful, but by the Pierâs own guards, who were not only misinformed, but needlessly aggressive and humiliating.
I purchased three adult tickets and one dog (POODLE) ticket for the Seadog Cruise, a dog-friendly tour that explicitly welcomes pets. I drove an hour, paid for parking, walked half a mile from the parking garage with my dog in almost 100° heat, and arrived at the security checkpoint only to be swarmed by guards who immediately insisted my dog wasnât allowed on the property, even after I calmly showed them my Seadog cruise tickets that included a dog pass.
They said âwe donât careâ and âonly service dogs are allowed past this pointâ, which is completely false. After I was forcibly escorted off the property and treated like a criminal, I called Seadog Cruises, and their staff was appalled. They confirmed that ALL friendly dogs are welcome aboard and that they would be contacting Navy Pier to educate their security team, since this was entirely incorrect and discriminatory.
The humiliation of being swarmed by multiple guards, treated with zero empathy, and kicked off the property, even by the supervisors while I was simply trying to go on a dog-friendly cruise that I paid good money for is something I wonât forget. Me & my dog were made to feel like a problem for doing absolutely nothing wrong.
The Seadog team immediately refunded me and were kind and very apologetic, but this was never their fault. It was Navy Pier security that failed to understand their own partnerships and chose bullying over basic decency.
Shame on Navy Pier for treating responsible pet owners and paying customers like this. Until they train their staff and update their policies to reflect the businesses they host, I would strongly discourage any dog owner or animal lover from visiting.

There was a lot of people there, but was not over crowded for a holiday weekend. Plenty of things to do. Shopping, food, sites seeing, and dancing to music.
Lirica is a great restaurant and was able to get 2 people in without a reservation.
Was easy to walk to from a parking garage about .5 miles away.

The Navy Pier is awesome! I went back in October. Very pretty scenery overlooking the water. Had fun on the Ferris wheel (even though Iâm afraid of heights). We also had good food at the rooftop restaurant, Offshore Rooftop. I got great pictures at the Navy Pier area.

hors d'oeuvres we're trash, charged us $320 for some sams club cookies, and the floor was dirty. You had pay additional money to hang Coates on top of the $320 payment. The picture listed below is what hors d'oeuvres is supposed to looked like

It's worth checking out at least once. There are tons of shops and restaurants inside. Great views of the city outside and, of course, the famous ferris wheel. Good place to just take some time and explore.

Fun spot with plenty to do! So many places to grab a bite to eat or sweet treat. The water was amazingly blue and city skyline was beautiful. Parking was ridiculously expensive and the Ferris Wheel was probably not worth the $20 per person but did have a great view. Loved the live music and the diverse crowd all enjoying their time. Iâll definitely visit again.

This is such a wonderful place to hang out. Enjoy the views, take a taxi ride, go on the ferris wheel. They have plenty of food places. Its insanely crowded on a gorgeous day so plan accordingly. We took uber, but there is a bike path as well from the city.

We enjoyed a nice scenic walk along Navy Pier. The ferris wheel was operating and when the weather improves, there are more amusement rides outside. You can get a scenic boat or dinner tour from this location. Inside Navy Pier is a whole different experience with restaurants and shops. The Chicago Children's Museum is located here as well as the new Flyover Chicago attraction. Parking at Navy Pier is expensive.

We went in the night to try to get in the game "flying over Chicago" but there were no tickets.
In fact the interior spaces of the Navy Pier are an enclosed shopping center dedicated to fast food with a nice hotel but very far from the city at the end of the long pier.
However the views from the pier towards the buildings with the Christmas decoration and the lights of the wheel of fortune are very pleasant.

Tourist trap! Long walk to get here. We didnât pay for tour or bikes and there wasnât a lot to do. Nice walk along the river though.

The Navy Pier is a fun place to spend a few hours while in Chicago. Inside the pier building there are numerous restaurants, stores, children's museum and a theater. On the outside is an amusement park, the centennial wheel and water cruises. The pier is a nice way to spend the day with your family.

Chicago once had Riverview, which operated from 1904 to 1967, covered 74 acres and was the largest amusement park in the United States. Now it has Navy Pier, which fills 50 acres and a 3,300-foot-long square-foot space into Lake Michigan with restaurants, retail shops, theaters, parks, gardens, family attractions, art galleries, museums, exhibition facilities and a 196-feet-tall Ferris wheel. The second most visited tourist attraction in Illinois and one of the most popular destinations in the Midwest, drawing nine millions visitors annually, Navy Pier is a Chicago Landmark and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. Opened in 1916, it has been used for a dock for passenger ships and freighters, a jail for draft dodgers in World War I, a training center for the U.S. Navy in World War II and classes for the University of Illinois. Finally, in 2016, after reviewing and evaluating several studies and proposals and redevelopment plans, the city opened the new waterfront promenade at Navy Pier. And the development is ongoing. Today, visitors can choose among 34 restaurants and view such attractions as the Chicago Children's Museum, Chicago's Funhouse Maze, Crystal Gardens, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Drop Tower, the carousel and several sightseeing tours and cruises. Not to mention the amazing fireworks displays on Wednesday and Saturday nights.

We walked the length of the pier and it was a nice walk with great views of the lake and city skyline. The few rides were closed, so my kid lost interest. He chose not to do the ferris wheel that was running.

A must do over the holiday season. I have been to Navy Pier previously in the fall and it was really fun then, but Christmastime was a whole other experience. The lights are so beautiful and there was so much see. We were there on a Friday evening and it was not crowded at all. This could have been because of the weather (just cold), but we felt like we had a winter wonderland all to ourselves. Just bundle up and enjoy!

Garbage. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much money for such a lackluster experience. Time would have been better spent at Millennium Park.

A wonder, worth visiting, eating, drinking, walking along its pier or simply listening to good music, it is a must-see in Chicago.

I am so impressed by the city that they provide free fireworks Wednesdays and Saturdays. The Pier always feels safe and is kept clean. Another highlight that you don't want to miss if you're visiting Chicago!

My wife and I came here to check out the pier, do some shopping and check out the overall vibe. There are a lot of shops in Navy Pier, as well as food options as well, so come here hungry!
We got there early in the morning, so the crowds weren't there yet, but once we got back from our boat tour and had lunch in the main building, it was getting busy.
For people with children, there is a children's museum in Navy Pier for them to stay busy with.
If you are in Chicago, this is 100% a must do and see.

The pier had some great views of the lake. Definitely worth going for a walk. We went in Nov so it was colder and windy and that meant less people and not many things were open but I would still recommend that you visit. Also make sure you go into their indoor food/shopping area. They had a good selection of food places and the little shops were very interesting. Each shop had it's own uniqueness to it.

Very nice to walk around the pier and get to sight see and you can get some great pictures from the pier of the water and of the downtown. A lot of foot traffic on the weekend.

It's got a huge food court with lots of options, none of which are cheap. There are I think four rides, three of which were not operating when we went. The Farris wheel is cool but we went around 3 times and that was it. Crowded but it's a Chicago "must see" so I'd make a pass through, ride the wheel and bail.

It's Ok for a visit, especially on a nice day, but simply nothing really there for me. I know that is my opinion, but the limited shops, attractions, that were all closed when I visited last, are just not for me. A walk around the whole pier is fun and enjoyable, but that I fear is not what the place is really trying to be. Still recommended for a visit.

Admire the scope of Lake Michigan and beauty of the city skyline. An amusement park is available. Sight to see .many restaurants and bars proliferate

Beautiful place, well taken care, clean... It's a very beautiful place to walk around, take pictures... relax... enjoy Lake Michigan... and the buildings of Chicago. You have an amazing look... Several restaurants and kiosks for a drink, a beer or an ice cream... has a souvenir shop. Clean, very careful, all well-signed. There's the child's museum, a giant wheel... It's really fun to walk through the Navy Pier. Pretty green and lots of colorful flowers.... We really like it and it's a great attraction in Chicago.

This was a waste of time and incredibly boring for all of us, adults and children. You pay almost $30 per person for an indoor ice rink and some indoor lights. A bottle of water is $5 and all the other "treats" were ridiculously expensive. And it's $5 to check a coat, each coat! So, for a family of 5, it costs $25! This isn't like the years prior with tons of rides and fun things to do. I gave 1 star bc the staff was amazing!

A great experience that doesnât have to cost anything. Just waking around the pier and especially right to the end was definitely worth the time. We are at the restaurant at the end and it was delicious, quick, and well priced. Dining hall feels very open air too.

Navy Pier in Chicago is a blast! It's like the ultimate playground for all ages. From the giant Ferris wheel with killer lake views to the funhouse maze that'll leave you laughing and lost, there's no shortage of entertainment. And the food scene? Don't even get me started â deep-dish pizza, cotton candy, and everything in between. Plus, they've got awesome events year-round, so there's always something going on. Navy Pier is basically the heart and soul of Chicago's waterfront, and you'd be crazy not to check it out when you're in the Windy City!

It is a beautiful park but, not enough for an exclusive place, a good view of one of the big lakes, if you are planning to park there please considered the high prices for parking, there are $36 Dollars for just 2 hours, this is not really fair, but you can choose to download some apps and try to park your car outside and walk, I had that mistake and then know about how is the way there.

Fun in the summer, they have a weekly fireworks show. Great place to spend a few hours roaming round, lots of shops.

We've been to other areas where there is a similar pier, but they pale in comparison to how Chicago has turned the Navy Pier into a usable attraction. Definitely a tourist attraction but it is beautiful and offers fantastic photo opportunities of the skyline of Chicago. There is a ferris wheel which is not open on very windy days. A hotel is located at the Navy Pier as well.

The Navy Pier has some beautiful views of Lake Michigan. It's a great place to end up after a nice walk along the lake shore. If you're a ride person, the ferris wheel is a good addition. There's lots of boat tours available, places to stop and have a drink or bite to eat. Worth a visit.

This is another of a must visit place in Chicago. It is a very touristy activity and you need at least one picture for insta or FB here. There is ample parking available. Good place to enjoy alongside the pier. Lots of shops and snack and food places inside. View of the sea is also awesome. Ferris wheel, ferry ride and cruise ships are all here. A must visit.

I stopped by Navy pier to go on the Ferris wheel while in Chicago on business. It was a beautiful Sunday and by going early I was able to beat all the lines. Highly recommend using the QR code to purchase tickets.

Navy Pier was a great way to spend an afternoon. We walked the entire pier, had lunch outside watching the boats coming in and out of the port and spent time did some shopping in the little shops. Most of the shops were inside so this would also be a great place to go on a rainy day.

We had never been to Chicago before so decided to go for a couple of nights.
Our first night there we walked from our room to the Navy Pier. It was lovely and we decided to go on an architectural boat tour. We were unable to pay with cash and also our debit cards did not work (we are from Canada). We had to use our credit card.
After the tour we decided to grab some supper- again, unable to pay with cash and unable to get our debit cards to work.
We walked around and found the Billy Goat Tavern and Grill accepted cash so we grabbed supper there.
I contacted our bank and there is no issue with our cards, nor did they receive any notice of issues/error messages. I am only giving a heads up to others as this was inconvenient. Chicago is beautiful and we had a wonderful time despite this.

The fireworks were pretty good but they only lasted a total of 10 minutes! Almost missed the grand finale because they were so short. It was not worth the time and effort to battle the crowds, I would suggest finding an alternative place to watch them.

I visited Chicago over the Labor Day weekend and avoided going to Navy Pier.
I don't like attractions that are crowded by tourists ay and night. Navy Pier is not authentic any more and the businesses are out for tourists' money.
There are better places in Chicago to visit than this tourist trap.
Just my opinion Tripadvisor.

Tripadvisor recommendation followed. But actually only aFressnude at food joint and a kind of small shooting party. Ferris wheel per person 23 dollars. Photo should cost $23. Not so mine.

I wanted to love this ride, but the worker (Zakar) was incredibly rude and basically ruined the entire experience for me. My daughter (9) and I got to the ride and were first in line (behind the gated off chain). Zakar was busy walking around the ride to be sure everyone was strapped in. He came over to the gate and I asked him if we could join (the ride was half full). He said no. I mentioned that there were a ton of extra seats (and there was no one behind us in line). Again I was told no. Basically he said "these people have waited long enough". Honestly it would have taken us 30 seconds to sit in the seat (we had no bags and we were wearing sneakers). Whatever. We waited in the 95 degree heat for the ride to finish. When we finally got on (there were only a few people in addition to us on the next ride). Zakar walked past our seats to make sure we were strapped in. I asked him if he could take our two ticket stubs from us to put in the trash (as we had no pockets and wanted to use both our hands to hold on). He said no. I asked again and he said "you need that as it is your receipt". I told him I didn't need it as it was just a stub. He was literally going to be passing the trash can next to the button to start the ride. He very loudly went UGH and took them reluctantly. We wanted to really enjoy this ride (but his attitude especially in front of a child was unacceptable). I definitely don't want her to think this is how people should be treated. Personally his attitude really needs to change - especially working in the service industry and on a CHILDREN'S ride. Extremely RUDE and unprofessional. If I had seen his manager around I would have reported him in person. His attitude really stinks.

As expected, full of tourists (like us). However, it was great fun. We popped on and off a few times as we had boat rides from here.
We also rode a couple of rides, the wheel was worth it.

After the Starbucks Reserve Roastery had a line wrapping around the block we decided to hit the Starbucks at Navy Pier. It has improved a bit since we were last at Navy Pier. Cute little open shops along the way. Very touristy but a fun place to wander and shop with your coffee not from the largest starbucks.

This place is greatâŠ. It has a bit of something for everyone to see and do. Would recommend as a most see area if youâre visiting Chicago.

A must while in the area of the Magnificent Mile! We took a basic shoreline cruise, and the narration of the city was just enough to excite and then the next day rent your own little boat to cruise up the river. This week was July 4th 2022 Jazz on the River Walk. Awesome!!

This is a nice place to wander around on a pleasant evening. The views are wonderful. There is a good selection of shops and food in the pavilion.

My family had a limited first experience of Navy Pier. We did a boat tour from the Pier, ate dinner at a restaurant on the Pier, walked around a bit, and saw some Saturday night fireworks. The architectural boat tour was great, the restaurant was so-so and overpriced, the firework show was brief, very brief. My experience was too limited to reach a fair conclusion. NP deserves another, longer exploration. Touristy zones are not really my thing, but kids love them. I gave it a 3. Grandkids gave it a 5. If this is why you bring your family to Chicago, it is probably better than similar places in most other cities. Go for it.

We went at night specifically for the fireworks.
There are a lot of food stands, bars, cafes etc and some fairground rides with the ferris wheel being the central part of this.
It was quite busy even midweek but safe. The only issue we had was we travelled there by bus and coming home there were no additional buses so the bus we needed was full even ten minutes before it was scheduled to depart. We landed up taking a different bus which required us to change partway through the journey but due to crowds departing by car we missed our connection and walked the last thirty minutes back to our accommodation. Just something to be aware of particularly if you are taking children.
We were guided at the start as to where the best views of the fireworks are and this was spot on. It was quite chilly even for a summers evening.
The fireworks lasted 10 minutes and were a nice way to end our Chicago adventure.

I visited when everything was closed so just had a lovely walk round the pier. The views back to the skyline are beautiful.

They need more for kids who like the calmer rides. We did the carousel and the teacups, and we were done. The Ferris wheel was too high. There is a drop thing that takes you straight up and drops you. It just was entertaining for 2 seconds, and we were ready to move on. Seeing the boats was neat. There were lots of shops along the pier and many expensive eating places. Across the street from the pier is a splash area, but it was fairly crowded. Thereâs a mini golf thing, but it was expensive. Parking there was $45 for the day which⊠WOW! I just didnât think it was worth our time.

Hours in the car. So-much-traffic! Hot and grumpy kids. For 10 minutes of fireworks?! Our local baseball team delivers a better show on a random summer night. Hereâs hoping the rest of our Chicago is better.

Yes, it's long isn't it
Nice walk in the sunshine. Bit cool in the wind, but then it is Chicago after all
One side - South - much more life than the other

A movie in the park at Navy Pier was amazing. A small hill and excellent screen quality made this so fun, we could easily see the movie even with the sun still up. And you get the atmosphere of being at the lakefront. Very well done.

Architectural Tour Rocked! Great day, great boat & great tour guide. What more could you ask for? Thank you!

We were able to do multiple things while there such as the Seadog Extreme Thrill Ride, Fly Over Chicago, and eat at Giordano's Pizza. There's a lot to do there and while on the surface it seems like a tourist trap, it does have things tourists might want to do.

We went to Navy Pier to watch the 4th of July fireworks. Which was very nicely done and it wasnât too long either (about 10 mins). The pier also has a lots of restaurants and shops good place to get dinner or drinks with friends

The day we visited was sun, which made the place even more pleasant. A visit to the Navy Pier is one of the highlights in Chicago, whether to eat, stroll or simply follow the sunset. There are several restaurants and bathrooms there. If lucky, they can still watch activities like a rock band. Sensational.

Is there anything worse than losing your phone?? Well yes there is but it's really stressful. When I got home from my Navy Pier evening I realized that I lost my phone at Navy Pier. I had very little hope of getting it back but I filled out the lost property report. 2 days later I decided to go to the pier. I started with the two people at the front desk and they were lovely and helpful. Then Greg from the office came out to help. This guy spent a lot of time helping me and happy day - I left with my phone. I highly recommend Navy Pier! Great attraction and great experience, great employees. PS Let's not forget to mention the good and honest samaritan who turned in my phone. Wish I knew who it was but THANK YOU to all you honest people out there! Life is good!

Navy Pier is one of those locations that has a bit of everything in one package. There are restaurants, a hotel, a conference center, a ferris wheel, a nice walkway, tours and events. It is one of those center of the city locations where something is always happening.

We were in town for a wedding LaborDay weekend. We just walked around the Pier area and through the food court to watch the fireworks.
This is the Chicago I don't hear about sadly. We'll be back in the spring.
Nice visual and the crowd had good energy. Only negative was trying to find parking. We plan to come back again but will definitely use Uber/Lift.

Beautiful, well explored. The ferris wheel must be a cool ride. It was very cold! -12°. I didn't get to enjoy it much.

Definitely worth checking out!!! We were there during an art exhibit and it was beautiful!!! The bar at the end is awesome!!

Have to do the Ferris wheel to get some of the best views of the entire city skyline! Great food and tons of little shops to check out.

Fun place to explore and people watch. Also, great angle for pictures of downtown Chicago. Lots to do and places to eat. Interesting to watch the boats come and go.

There is a really nice indoor/outdoor mall here with lots of restaurants and shops, as well as a children's museum. The Centennial Wheel ride is a ripoff. It cost us $76 for four of us to ride ONCE. None of the other rides were open either. The kids were pretty disappointed.

A lovely relaxed area by the waterfront with lots of eateries. Bit pricey for a meal but cool for a quick snack and drink. The ferris is quite small but gives you a spectacular view of lake Michigan

We walked all the way to the end and back.
There wasnât really much to see other than good views of the city but enjoyable nonetheless.
We made the mistake of walking back down on the other side, which was just next to a service road.
The new Reunion bar at the city end was ok for a drink or two and we watched a massive coastguard ship dock.

Beautiful views! Live music, safe environment. Cool breeze from the lake made this visit a nice break from the heat of the city

Lots to see and do as you walk along one of the Great Lakes. Lots of snack/food options as well. Restaurants have bars set up along the walk if you want to grab a beverage for your stroll.

We had a great time at the Navy Pier. A lot of opportunities to shop and places to eat. The online system to purchase tickets for the Ferris wheel crashed , but kiosks were there to purchase. The line looked long, but moved quickly. Best way to leave if you go at night is by Uber. It gets very busy around the area. Lots of fun for the family.

Navy Pire is nonprofit organization but everything you must to pay, they donât pay any taxes and is private property(criminal)

A lot going on if you go with your family. I went with my partner and we didnt enjoy it much. It was very crowded but there are activities for couples too. You can watch the fireworks or watch a movie at the IMAX, take a cruise , go to the theater or just to enjoy some food. there are many options. I recommend to come during summer rather than winter.

Great vibes and experience as you walk towards the Navy pier. It is a must-see attraction during visits to Chicago. There are a lot of fun shops, a good collection of eateries, a small golf area, and the giant Ferris wheel.
The boat rides/tours start from the Navy pier. We didn't get to see the fireworks but plan accordingly to catch the fireworks. The scenery of the lake, along with the skyline of Chicago, is a beautiful sight to watch. On a perfect evening, it was relaxing to take a stroll on the pier.
Overall, it's a great and must-see !!

We bought the fast pass - for 3 people, it was $100. Our daughter is 5 and she was running low on energy. So the long line was a no go.
You take your picture on the way in, and the sun was in our faces. So that didnât pan out. However, they print it to show you⊠why not just include it in the price? Seems like a real money grab.
The ride itself is nice and smooth. One rotation with stops to rotate riders and then two full rotations.
You are in with other people as well. 8 people in each pod.
Honestly - nice views but not really worth it. You can get great views on the pier itself or on the water taxi - if youâre looking to see the skyline.

We stayed at the Sable on Navy Pier with beautiful views! We did Flyover Chicago which was so fun! Many great things to do! We will bring grandkids next time!

This isn't my favorite place to see in Chicago, been here a few times, but if you are visiting you should see it at least once!

So many unique stores at the Pier. Found all the souvenirs I wanted in one trip! We easily filled the wait time for a bus tour by shopping at this Pier.

Was a cold, windy day when we were there but is awesome to be indoor shopping, eating and drinking. Decided to ride Centennial Wheel at sunset and experienced a breathtaking view of Chicago. Highly recommend this!

Not as much going on as I thought there would be, but this is partly my fault for not looking into things available and the times. We went early in the morninf and there wasn't much open or going on. If we went back we would go later in the day. The views as we walked outside along the water were nice, but we had hoped to get a little shopping in. We had other activities planned for the rest of the day and were unable to return later.

This long, charming pier decorated with a Ferris wheel is the most popular place in Chicago for both locals and tourists..... So you won't be alone.
It is a former naval training base for planes (200 are at the bottom of the lake it seems) which was abandoned in 1970 then completely renovated with millions of dollars in the 1980s.
It now presents itself as a tourist center combining restaurants, shops and various attractions (rides, cinemas, children's museum, etc.).
If you go there to eat then you will have to be patient, especially for dinner which, as everyone knows, starts very early among Americans....from 5 p.m. (with therefore a service which stops very early too... it may come as a surprise) but the restaurants are open non-stop.
If possible reserve a table in advance or wait.... a good 45' in my case for Giordano's for a table not even on the terrace!
Finally, this place is the starting point for mini cruises (Shoreline company), nice but not essential except for taking photos of the pier and the buildings.... attraction not given either, count 70 dollars for 2.
In conclusion, it's hard not to go there but don't expect to see anything exceptional there either.

The fireworks were fantastic and the atmosphere was great. Had to eat at Harry Caray's restaurant...Girl and the Goat's line was too long!

Very boring place...no outdoor activities as there are no trees or sun protection. No outdoor restaurants and not much to do.

Pier that allows you to take some nice pictures of the Chicago skyline. In the evening after 10 there is not much left, the dirt of the bivouac of the day remains. Let's say it's worth a shot but nothing more

We visited on a morning in August (when it was very hot).
Enjoyed the ferris wheel (around $20 per person) which gave spectacular views over the lake and back to Chicago skyline. There were machines for buying tickets or you can do online, but no facilities to buy from a kiosk. The rides are extra (about $5 each) but our older teenager was not too bothered as they were more for younger children (and only 3 or 4 rides to choose from).
The main food outlets are in the family area, and all sorts of fast food. Thereâs also a cocktail place and Miller Light bar/food at the end of the pier. But for us it was more about the views!!

Walked around the pier early in the morning - well 10.00 am, which is early in Chicago activities terms!
Decided to ride the wheel last minute, however as it was so early there was no queue. Buying tickets from the machines, was a bit of a faff - luckily there was a member of staff on hand to help (although not the most patient person!). Walked on straight away, with no waiting time. Saw the city from a different perspective, although again some pointers for landmarks would have been useful. As it wasn't busy we didn't have to share a gondola with anyone, which was lovely and private. We did have appx 3 complete turns of the wheel so not as many as some but enough.

When you are from out of town and you ask the locals where to go, theyâll probably ask you if you have been to Navy Pier. Itâs hard not to understand why after you visit. When my wife and I visited on a cloudy and foggy day, there were locals and tourists alike walking and running around the pier..and birds flying too. For kids there are rides, a simulator called âflyoverâ which is really cool. The weather wasnât great otherwise we would have gone on the Ferris wheel. Plenty of restaurants and shops of all kinds. My pro tip would be to grab a boat ride from here and take a ride along the lake which I have on a previous trip.
Enjoy!

another must-see place in Chicago, from which you have a beautiful view of the skyscrapers that make up the city and with various attractions.

Took the family with me for a work trip. We decided to go and visit the Navy Pier. It was very pretty, the views were fantastic, and it was not too crowded. You have to stop and get fresh candied nuts along the walk( delish)!! There were a bunch of boats that you can pay to ride. They looked fun and were decently priced. However we were told by a local to get a city pass. He said it's only a few dollars and it let's you choose things to do throughout the city. I would recommend. We at at the Offshore rooftop. Wayyyyyy overpriced. Almost $200 for 2 adults and 1 kid. The quality was not great, I expected way more!

On a fair day, a stroll along Navy Pier can while away some time in a pleasant fashion. A number of places to stop, have a drink and some food and look over the Lake. We walked up the right hand side of the pier and I would advise walking back down that side too. The left hand side walkway is almost all service road for the restaurants etc on the pier and there is only a pathway wide enough for 2, for visitors. And another warning. My partner cannot walk far without difficulty. We had taken a taxi down ($8) and intended to catch one back. The driver wanted a flat fare of $28 stating that this was the norm. We caught the bus and walked a part of the way.

Walked from the river walk over the bridge to get there and back. Great view of Lake Michigan. Food and bars but thatâs all we did.

A nice area and looks like something for everyone. We did not do ferris wheel but did walk the pier. If it to hot you can go inside air conditiined area to cool off.

The Fireworks, did not last no 25 m7nuted this July 3 2024, I timed them and was there way before they started, I was the boat pull out to start the Fire Works. It definetly was not 15 m7 muted at all. It was all of 11 minutes. They started at 9:00 pm and they ended exactly at 9:11 I timed them by phone and others. That were with me. 9:11 not even I minute over, the show was good but the time is disappointing for the travel I had to do for 11 minutes the time they ended, horrible. Also a couple was talking to us at 9:18, said they got there at 9:14 and they were over. I said yes they ended at 9:11 . They also said how disappointing.

This is a great family friendly area. Lots of places to eat, rides for the family to enjoy (we went during the summer I am sure some of the rides are closed during winter). There are some indoor activities as well. Nice place get photos of the city.

Very nice to walk around the pier and get to sight see and you can get some great pictures from the pier of the water and of the downtown. A lot of foot traffic on the weekend.

It is a fun place with nice views. Fireworks during the summer on Wednesday and Saturday nights. It is expensive. Very crowded on weekends. You can get some local favorites like Garrett Popcorn and Kilwins. Be prepared for a lot of walking and long lines. You can take the water taxi to the museum campus. Several tourist cruises and dinner cruises depart from Navy Pier.

I absolutely loved the Navy Pier Ferris Wheel! The ride was spectacular and the view from the top was simply amazingâperfect for seeing the city and lake from a whole new perspective. It felt peaceful and exciting all at once. Iâd definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Chicago. Just a heads-up: make sure you get there about 30 minutes to an hour early because there was a bit of a line when I went. Totally worth the wait though! Itâs a must-do experience that made my trip even more special. Iâd absolutely ride it again.

the Chicago Navy Pier was fabulous to visit. There were lots of school groups here the day I went. A gorgeous summer day and plenty to see and do. The Chicago Wheel is a good view if you like that sort of thing.
Nice daytime activity
A combination of both outdoor and indoors shops, restaurants, and activities, Navy pier is a great place to go while in Chicago
