We got the passes to feed the giraffes and pet the sting rays. This was a great way to spend a nice afternoon while we waited to attend a family wedding. The prices for just the zoo itself was quite cheap. We were expecting a higher price to just get in which let us get the do all passes.

This is a wonderful zoo. There is so much to see. It is covered by trees and even bamboo in most places so it is cool even if it is hot out. There are lots of different animals and they have a lot of room to roam. Their enclosures are very well kept, and they have a lot of water features to cool off in. We saw every single animal, there was none hiding, or not visible. It is definitely worth going to. It started pouring down rain after we were there for awhile, but there was a lot of shelter along the way that we were able to get into

We love the OKC Zoo. When we have guests we often take them to the zoo, and they rave about how great it is, and say it's better than ones in other cities in the U.S. The zoo is constantly making great improvements, and is such a popular place for locals. Buying a one-year pass is a great way to make sure all those in your family can enjoy the zoo. We gave a one-year pass to our daughter and son in law for Christmas, and they love it!

We've been Oklahoma City Zoo Friends for 22 years. It's a great place to visit and a wonderful walking venue, especially at 9 AM (the opening hour) or late in the afternoons. That's when an annual Zoo Friends pass comes in handy. If you're paying for single admission most people think they have to stay all day to get their money's worth. But for those within driving distance, the annual Zoo Friends pass is the way to go. Mathis Brothers has a sale on them between Thanksgiving and Christmas. A great value.

My kids (ages 7 & 8) and I visited the Oklahoma City Zoo and were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful it is. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The animals are well cared for and have nice living spaces....that made me very happy to see. On top of all of that, it's just a great place to walk and the lakeside setting was beautiful.

OKC zoo is a beautiful place to visit. Be sure to wear your walking shoes and be prepared to spend the whole day! Every time we go I see something new

This is a nice zoo. They have a wide variety of animals to see as well as little shows with certain animals such as the elephants. My only complaint is the lack of signage at the front of the zoo. My grandmother and I spent about an hour wandering around attempting to find the cat exhibits because the map was not the most user friendly, and there was no signage at the front of the zoo. The signage greatly improves once you go farther into the zoo. Parking is free, and you are able to bring in outside beverages and food. While lost, we asked multiple people for assistance. All of them were extremely friendly and wanting to be helpful.

Man. The zoo! We have loved this place for so long. The improvements were so needed. The construction on the zoo has been a very long process and sometimes that put a damper on visits, but what the outcome is is fantastic. We love stingray bay! And the Asia exhibit and Oklahoma Trails! The food at the canopy is so so good too! So much to choose from and it’s not your typical fast food. It’s like fresh cut fries, handbreaded chicken. So good! There is something for everyone here for sure!!!

My husband and I had a great visit at the zoo today. Every staff member was friendly and welcoming. At the ticket booth they even told us about a few things we might want to check out. I did notice how clean the park was though. There was no trash anywhere! It also appeared that the animals had just been fed which made for great viewing. The bat exhibit was awesome because they too had food and were flying around eating the fruit. I've never seen them in action until this visit. It was awesome! I love this zoo. We'll be back again soon.

We were visiting with the grandkids! So we purchased a feed the giraffe tickets for the 4 of us $20! It was less an 3 minutes to feed 2 pieces of leaves to the giraffe. The Choo Choo train $12 for 4 of us was 10 minutes inside a fence to see the Deer and Alpaca from a distance!

Very nice Zoo and very friendly employees!!! There's a lot of walking, but it's very easy to get to all the animals and there are plenty of exhibits that are cool to see when it's warm out so you don't get too hot!! Would definitely go again!!! Would definitely take the shuttle around!!!

This zoo is HUGE and offers animals of every size and shape! The enclosures were clean and well kept. The animals looked healthy and happy. This zoo is beautifully landscaped and offers beautiful trails through trees and flowers. There is a fantastic picnic area overlooking the lake where you will be met with hundreds of happy ducks! The elephant enclosure was by far one of the largest I've ever seen in an American zoo. Children of all ages will enjoy this attraction! NOTE: Because of Covid-19, advanced reservations and masks are required. NOTE: Outside food/drinks ARE permitted, so pack a lunch!

We had a few hours to kill while in OKC and we love zoos so we decided to go. It had rained terribly the morning before we got there so the temperature had cooled quite a bit.
We were rewarded by very active animals. Most of the viewing areas provide great angles and views. I especially like the openness of enclosures. It is not all looking through glass at the animals. The OKC Zoo has great walking and viewing areas that provide excellent views of the animals. We loved the facts that are posted at the enclosures about the larger animals.
The park attendants that we ran into were very knowledgeable, helpful, and very friendly. They even offered some unsolicited suggestions of animals to make sure that we saw. Some of them quite rare. We would have missed them otherwise. Great job!
The on-site hospital is a great informative site to visit too.
The gardens and various vegetation around the zoo are beautiful and add a delightful visual break for the eye.
Bring your own snacks as those in the vending machines throughout the park are very over priced. $1.75 for M&M's it too much.
There are plenty of restrooms throughout the park along with water fountains for getting a quick drink or refilling a water bottle.

I came with my daughter-in-love and oldest grandson during a visit to OKC. The park is clean and well maintained. We were surprised by the great food, but a little bummed on the cost of individual drinks. My grandson enjoyed the park, but was a little disappointed when some of the animals were not visible.

They had a huge set up for Earth day with a lot of programs to help educate people on what they can do to help the planet and animals harmed by human interference.
In the big cats exhibit, they had pelts from former poaching days so people could see why their fur was so sought after.
They have a newly finished Asian Exploration area where there were people educating on Red Pandas and their habitats along with how they aren't really pandas.
We took the tram ride through and the host was very excited to tell us the names of the animals, about the wild American bison being recovered to where it isn't on the extinction list.
Definitely worth a visit, or a few! It's a lot to take in, in one day and we didn't even feed the stingrays or giraffes!
It's not only well kept but super interactive for children and adults.

Haunt the zoo was the biggest waste of money. For starters, there were so many people, the line to get in trickled all the way out into the parking lot. There was no point in buying tickets ahead of time. Once we were in we walked past the petting zoo to a small area near the herpetarium where there were 4-5 drink stands all with lines that were at leased a 30 minute wait. Besides people waiting in line for a drink or one of the few food trucks, there was a carousel and a mediocre dance floor that might have held about 10% of the thousands of people that showed up. Mostly, people were just standing in a line the whole time. No screams. No scares. No trails. No rides. Nothing. We walked around the whole park that was open and every sign that said “haunted trail” or “hay maze” was deserted and quiet. Very disappointing. We paid a minimum of $55.00 per person ($40 for tickets and $15 for drink tickets) and needless to say, the event did not deliver. It was just poorly put together. A lack of staff and a lack of entertainment. From what they advertised, we expected a few haunted trails, a hay maze, staff and workers dressed up and scaring people, and more access to drinks without having to stand in line for 30 plus minutes. The only actual entertainment available was the sea lion show but you had to pay extra so yeah, did not enjoy. It could have been great but it just wasn’t.

First time to do the zoo it all! It was great! It won’t happen all the time because of the price, but for a one time occasion, it was great! Kids (3/4) had a blast, as well as me and grandmother. I will continue to get a zoo pass each year but won’t always do a zoo it all.

We spent a few hours here during a trip to OKC. Just OK for a zoo. Many enclosures were smaller and we felt bad for the animals. Some sections were nice, some needed updates from the 1970's. If you have a decent zoo in your town you won't be impressed, but OK to spend a few hours if you have time to kill.

Really nice elephant area. The map could use some work. Overall it seemed clean and well kept. More walking than I remembered but that's ok. We enjoyed the visit. I will say the food is horrible.

We had a GREAT time walking the park. All the animals look healthy. The staff was amazing. Thanks for the memories.

Out of several zoos I have been to, ours is the best. Clean, friendly staff and concessions. A must see for families or just a place to get away.

Crowded, dirty, expensive, dated. Animals look old, shaggy, not well maintained. Compared to Sedgwick County Zoo visited yesterday, this is a poor example of a zoo. Not worth the trip or the crowds.

It was nice but it's best to get the zoo it all so you can ride to different spots. That saved us a lot of walking with small children. They have decent food as well.

We visit LOTS of zoos in our family travels and this one is pretty good. The baby mountain lions were very cute.

The lady at the front desk told us to be sure to see the Komodo Dragon (ALL the way in the back) and it was unavailable because of renovations (which I completely understand -but maybe let us know)
But my main complaint is that our Entire reason for stopping was to see an armadillo (from Ohio never seen one) and it was sleeping under a nest of wood chips (also understandable) but we talked to 2 completely unhelpful staff members to find out when she usually comes out to eat and got non-answers. So u can pay to have experiences with elephants and other animals but no one could help us see an armadillo?
Place was nice staff 👎🏻

We visited the zoo with two 1 year olds on a hot Sunday afternoon. It was perfect. There was a lot of cooling areas. And the zoo was very clean.

This zoo was fun. The animals seemed happy, active and well cared for. The whole zoo was nicely maintained and looked excellent. The snow leopard was the only animal we couldn't really see well, because they built the zoo where you have multiple ways of seeing most animals. Very reasonable priced, and the pavilion food looked and smelled so good. It was a huge menu.

I love our zoo! They are constantly improving the animals areas. The plant life is worth a visit by itself. The parking is free, the staff is friendly. They have a tram and a train for additional money, (its worth it) a play area for young kids to splash about as well as a children's zoo. And don't forget about the Lorikeets!

We loved visiting the OKC zoo! The exhibits were extremely clean and the animals seem very happy. The stingray exhibit was hands on, my little loved it. Some of the exhibits close at 4:30pm while the park its self closes at 5pm, wish we would have know this. The zoo is pretty big plan on spending at least 3 hours.

I thoroughly enjoyed my day at the OKC zoo. Lots of different animals. Displays allow you to see some up close. The habitats are very natural and look like humane enclosures for the animals. Many of the paths are shaded, which offers relief on a very hot day. Plus there are indoor pavilions to cool off. Also mist stations and water bottle refill stations. Great experience even as an adult. In the summer, get there early before it gets too warm.

One of my favorite zoo's to visit. Lots of variety of animals. Lots of trees for shade. Plenty of benches for sitting when gets tired. The tram is handy for getting around and inexpensive. Handicapped accessible. Great activities for adults and kids.

Visited OKC for a short trip. This is honestly one of the best zoos I’ve ever seen! The exhibits let you actually see the animals up close, with multiple view-points. Whereas other zoos give you maybe 1-2 chances to see the animal without crowding someone, etc. I really felt like I got to experience the animals up close, and learn something new. This is definitely a must-see!

Be prepared for a hike. The animal enclosures are quite big so walking from exhibit to exhibit is required. The elephant presentation was very good. Enrichment for the pachyderms and education for the crowd. Participation by selected children in the audience was well received. The day we were there was hot and overcast. Many of the animals were quite active. I have never seen a coatimundi before. We were there for three hours.

This zoo is impressive in how much room they give each species of animal. The new Elephant area and Asia experience is super nice. The food is good. It is very large and can take more than one day to experience it all. There is a train/ guided tour if you can’t walk that much. The children’s playground is fun. They have date nights for couples and special events for holidays.

As a fifth grade teacher I would take my class to the zoo each month. Each pair of children was responsible for keeping a log of their observations and prepare a report to be presented to the class. They were not only graded on their written report but also on their oral report and how they would connect their material from month to month. By the end of the year they gained in confidence and ability to work together. Our cost was free because of the caring zoo faculty of the finest zo in the USA. A wonderful time well spent; thanks to the OKC Zoo .

I WILL NOT EVER revisit nor would I EVER recommend the OKC zoo. I’m truly wondering if the OKC zoo sent their animals to Tulsa zoo? There were hardly any animals just LARGE areas of construction. We were EXTREMELY disappointed. We spent a 2 hour drive to OKC zoo for a day of fun with our grandchildren. We ended up walking for 3 hours to see animals but ALL we saw were flamingos, squirrel monkeys, and 2 gorillas. It was ABSOLUTELY PITIFUL. We spent time and money that should have been better spent elsewhere had we known we would be visiting a CONSTRUCTION SITE INSTEAD OF A ZOO. My husband and I brought 3 of our grandchildren (ages 3, 5, & 6) to see zoo animals. We even asked a zoo representative where the animals were. She directed us down a pathway where as she stated the elephants were. But no she sent us down a path to NOTHINGNESS. If we wanted to pay $100 to see construction we could have sat on I-40. As we were walking the pathway she sent us we asked a couple of other people are there any animals down this way? Both gentleman said basically the same No, there is nothing down this way. We asked are there any elephants? The gentleman said no elephants only construction. We walked on down the path to the end no elephants nothing but construction. Throughout the day I overheard other people asking “WHERE ARE THE ANIMALS”? So we left the OKC zoo with very disappointed grandchildren and a VERY IRRITATED nana. The OKC zoo was absolutely a ripoff taking people’s money knowing there is nothing to see but CONSTRUCTION. We called the zoo the following morning and asked where the animals were. The young lady treated us condescendingly and as if we didn’t know what we were talking about. Obviously she has been receiving a lot of calls asking the same question. Very robotic rehearsed speech very rude and disrespectful. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

We were looking for a family place, 13 year old and 8 year old. Ive been to alot of zoos so i wasn't that excited about this idea. i was pleasantly surprised. very up close sights of animals which were fun. very clean, friendly people and tram that stops at many exhibits .

I have gone to the OKC Zoo a few times with my kids and grandkids. We go in the morning to try to avoid the hot afternoons. The kids have their favorite animals, both to see through the fences or glass walls, and also to pet in the petting 'yard'. There are also some water fountains to play in if we are there when the heat is extreme. The air-conditioned buildings are nice and the underwater displays (of the fish) are fun for the kids also. It is well worth the annual pass for my family.

We took the kids (ages 4, and 13) here, while on a short family trip, to attend my brother's wedding. They had a blast! The Zoo is clean and the layout is easy to follow in order to get where you want to go. There is a petting area, and great animal (and child) photo opportunities at every turn. We made some wonderful memories here, just wish we could have stayed longer. I was well over 8 months pregnant during our visit, so after walking for a couple of hours, in the mid summer heat, we had to cut our visit short. They had several resting areas, and benches along the paths, which I took full advantage of and was very grateful to have available, so if you are bringing someone in my condition, or an elderly person, along, they can rest as needed. I would suggest making a full day of it, though, if you have the time. We were only able to see about a third of the park, so just saw everyone's favorite exhibits. I would love to go back and would highly recommend checking it out, to any and everyone.

This zoo here is huge. It has a kid area, has a clinic for where they check animals. You can go in there watch how they check them out. If your lucky then you might catch them on a day if they have to do surgery and you can watch. They have a sting ray exhibit where you can touch them. This zoo has a lot to list. You just have to go and experience it yourself.

Be sure to feed the giraffes!
March was a great time of year to visit.
Be prepared for lots of walking and stay hydrated. Some of the vending machines weren’t working properly, all I wanted was a bottled water (at $5.00 per bottle).

The zoo is the perfect size for 6 hours of walking. It is not so big that you can’t see it all in one day. The animal are well kept, healthy, and have very nice habitats.

The zoo has free parking. The staff is friendly and helpful. If you want to ride the tram around the zoo there is an additional charge. Currently (April 2018) there is much construction at the zoo. They have a variety of eating places and a large gift shop. You could easily spend a day viewing the exhibits.

Worth visiting with kids. But i perfonally dont recommend this for adults, because there isnt anything for them. Kids would definetly feel excited.

My husband and I are visiting our adult children, and decided to go to the zoo because it’s been forever!! I was pleasantly surprised by this zoo. It is very well laid out, modern, educational and has a great variety of animals. We enjoyed our day. The only reason I give 4 instead of 5 stars is that many of the exhibits were closed or under repair. Next time!!!

There were several animals inside for the day which was disappointing. But it’s a very nice zoo and not too large. We enjoyed it 😊

Nice place to take the family and spend the day. It's pretty big so wear good shoes and comfortable clothes . Lot's to see and the displays are great for the kids to see the animals . Try and see the animal shows while you are there.

We Had a wonderful visit. Something for every age. Our party consisted of me (65), my dtr and son in law and 3 kids (3 to 11).

We love this zoo. But this trip was not pleasant. The animals were not out probably due to the heat. Those we could see were sleeping. The big exception, the elephants. There was a mom with a baby and another young elephant. She seemed quite upset and kept squealing as she had to protect the young from the older elephants. It made good photos but you could tell she was stressed. We found a rhino out but that was it.

Maybe it was the warmer weather or time of day. Afternoon. I walked 3 miles and saw very few animals. The Jaguar was magnificent. The other Cats, Lions, and Gorillas were so disappointing. The venues for the animals were very nice. Just not enough animals. Kind of pricey at $34 for two of us. Never could get a seat on the tram. Maybe I’m comparing unfairly to the Bronx and Columbus zoos.

We've been to lots of zoos around the country and have to say that the Oklahoma City Zoo was a treat. This zoo has enough space to provide lots of room for big animals, including a new complex for their Asian elephants, and extensive habitats for bears, gorillas and chimpanzees. We especially enjoyed their animals of Oklahoma's regions, including very cute Swift Foxes and the biggest cougar we'd ever seen.
They also had a few animals we'd never seen at any other zoos, including a large, cat-like member of the weasel family called a Tayra. It was fascinating to see how they're transforming their older, more traditional exhibits into modern habitats--and to learn about the connection between the zoo and the song, "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas." Enjoy your visit!

I visited Oklahoma City Zoo on Mother’s Day. As I was on a business trip, I was by myself. I was super excited that they have Grizzly Bears there and offer a “behind the scenes” tour for an additional fee. I was not disappointed! It ranks as one of my best days ever! The zoo staff members were polite, friendly, and very knowledgeable. It was obvious how much they love the animals! The Zoo itself is well maintained and all of the animal habitats were clean and beautifully constructed; most animals were easy to view and seemed content and well taken care of. If you’re in the area you should go!

Lots to see and do. Didn't spend the whole day because my kids got tired. You can pay general admission that is fairly cheap. Or you can upgrade your ticket for a ride it all ticket or a zoo it all ticket that let's you pretty much do everything, but it was kind of pricey. But if you are going to be spending the whole day there, the upgraded tickets may be worth it because you can do and see so much more. They seemed to have a good selection of animals.

Been to many zoos! This one was enjoyable and surprising considering the area. The place was clean and the staff was nice!

Our family found out about this zoo package deal last weekend while in Oklahoma City for some getaway time. From feeding the birds and stingrays to having access to all the rides, this made our trip to the zoo an awesome experience! We hope this deal will still be in effect next year as well. The OKC Zoo is one of the best zoos I’ve ever been to.

We love zoos and this is definitely on the top of our list now. The zoo is very large and there are so many exhibits and a variety of animals. My favorites include the bison, elk, grizzly bear, lion, and elephants. Most of the animals were active and it was easy to get great pictures. It was cloudy and cool, so it was a perfect day.

Our troop booked a special Snooze at the Zoo program. We arrived at 6:45 p.m. on a Thursday night. Once we were settled into one of the classrooms at the educational building, we were sent to the auditorium. Our guide, Cameron, started the program here by explaining the different animals the group would see on the night time tour of the zoo. He also had some of the animals on hand to show the group. A few demonstrations by our kids and then we bundled up to take about a 90 minute walking tour of some of the exhibits.
Once that was over, our group was taken back inside where we changed into pajamas. Cameron had a kid-friendly movie loaded for the kids to watch while a light snack (goldfish crackers and lemonade) was served.
The next morning, our group had to be out of the classroom with our gear loaded into our vehicles and us in our seats by 8 am. The classrooms are used for the preschool programs M-F. We were given breakfast (fruit and muffins) before meeting our guide to start the morning tour before the zoo opened. We got to see the zoo free of visitors and get a behind-the-scenes look. By 9 when the zoo opened, our guide bid us farewell and we were able to stay as long as we wanted in the zoo.
There was so much to see! Unfortunately, with heavy rains coming down, we cut our day at the zoo short around noon. We did not get to see half the zoo by this time.
This is a great zoo with a new expansion of Asia. The Red Panda and the Komodo Dragon are also new attractions as well as the new baby elephant.
Great place to take children!

We went to the zoo on a perfect day in October. The botanical garden aspect of the zoo is so well done, the plants held us much interest for us as the animals. The new Asia exhibit really is an escape from the ordinary.

It was nice to see the animals were well cared for. The zoo was clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful in answering questions.

The zoo was a great experience for our first time in OKC. The exhibits were large and spacious for the animals and the on-site vet hospital was amazing. Plan to go back soon.

The Oklahoma City zoo is one of the best in our great nation. They have just opened a new exibit for all of our Asian breeds. It is awesome and a must see for zoo lovers

This was a great zoo. Since it was off season, the train was closed. However with small kids, it was the perfect size. We saw lots of animals and also fall colors.

What an amazing zoo! We have been to many zoos and this one is amazing! Our family enjoyed all the animals, activities, and learning experiences! The caretakers were always willing to share information about animals. The staff was always polite when asking questions. We enjoyed all the educational material and personalized information on the animals. We really enjoyed the turtles and the moles. The moles had us laughing so hard. The otter was so adorable! We really enjoyed how the zoo was located alone the lake. There were plenty of restrooms and places to rest if needed! We would definitely recommend this zoo!

Wonderful zoo and great experience for the hubs and me along with a couple of grandkids. Lots of walking to see the exhibits and anxious to come back when the new construction is done. I've never heard of a red panda, but I know what one is now! Great learning experience for the hubs and me along with our near teenage grandkids. A must see for any visit to OKC.

I have been to several zoo's across the US and this is by far my fav. I have been coming here since I was a child and I am proud of the improvements they have made.

We absolutely love the OKC zoo. It’s very large so plan on walking lots and a few hours. Better yet, if you are local, a membership is the ticket! So worth it. All exhibits were fantastic. Very well taken care of. My only complaint is that some of the enclosed exhibits smell very strong. A nice ventilation system would enhance the air quality for the visitors. We visited in the dead of winter and had a wonderful experience.

Took our 2 year old to the zoo for the first time and it was not so great. We started shortly after they had opened. The zoo looked like it had not been cleaned or kept up with as there was tall grass, twigs on the walk path, they did not have signs to some indoor xhibits so it was a guessing game on what was ahead. They did have old xhibit areas that were blocked off. Also signs saying they were building more xhibits which was good to see but I feel like we missed out on a lot of animals. Only positive was our son loved the carousel ride they had. Would recommend the Dallas Zoo or even Tulsa Zoo over this zoo.

I visited the zoo with my daughter and we had a great time, the zoo is really well set out and the staff very helpful. You can tell that the animals are very well cared for and a lot of effort is put into conservation.
The experiences that are offered are well worth the money and we had great fun meeting and feeding the bears and the giraffes.
Well worth the visit and I would definitely go again.

I was very impressed with this smaller zoo. Most of the enclosures are a good size for the animals, as well as giving visitors the ability to see them up close. They have a nice variety of animals. The landscape is lovely, and there are plenty of places to picnic, or play. The location is good, and the Science Museum is right next door. I highly recommend this zoo.

OKC Zoo by far is a bang for your buck spot. The food the staff super clean. Not the biggest Zoo park but a good time none the less

Very nice and clean zoo. although did a lot of walking. But, my wife and I enjoyed ourselves very much. Would recommend

Seeing the baby elephant was the highlight for me at this zoo, but there were many other animals rarely seen in other zoos. The Gorillas were also a treat with nice viewpoints of the enclosures, many with clear glass rather than fences. Good value and a place to see while visiting Oklahoma City

We visited the Safari Lights Drive-Thru and walk-thru events and found both to be amazing! Our grown children and young grandchildren had a terrific time. The employees were super friendly and very good at explaining how it all worked for our first trip there. We highly recommend I. We were sure who the characters were at the beginning of the drive thru part, but really enjoyed it anyway. The $60/vehicle cost seemed steep, but came with 4 walk through bracelets ( valued at $12 each) , making it a great value. Only disappointment was the dinosaur exhibits were poorly lit, making it hard to see or take pics.

I wanted a day outside to walk around and I definitely got it with the zoo. I was there on an overcast day with occasional showers (the weather forecast was no rain) but still had excellent opportunities to see the animals.
As my title suggests there is a lot of walking in this zoo. Since it was my first time there, I probably did not always pick the shortest of routes. There were times when a little more signage would have been helpful especially with areas closed due to new construction.
The grounds are beautiful and it is nice to see that most animals have large spaces to move about. The plants and flower beds are a nice addition to a zoo. I enjoyed a zoo keeper talk with the Galapagos Turtles because the turtles were so responsive to the keepers. They followed them around and would seek petting and attention.
The variety of species is nice and the number of different reptiles is impressive. All of the animals looked well cared for and their areas were also well maintained. The zoo also seems very active in conservation and breeding programs.

We went with our daughter and 2 young grandchildren. It was over the top wonderful in every way. Highly recommend this beautiful and very family friendly destination.

We took our family to the zoo so our grand child could see all the animals. We had a wonderful day watching the elephants and the gorillas. It was so nice to have all the photo op places there for our use.

Good family trip with kids and grandkids. Enjoyed walking the park with my sister and here kids and grandkids. We had a nice day.

This is the first time we have been to the Zoo in about 25 years. The last time we took our son, this time we took our grandson. There are 3 levels of entry fees. With the basic you got entry to the zoo with of walking, up and down slopes. The exhibits such as the seal show were not part of the basic entry fee. Still a very nice, clean zoo. Plenty of play ground areas and picnic areas. You can take food and drink in.

This was more enjoyable than I thought. Animals were out and about. Most we’re out and about here and there. Some stayed in the shade. It was a fun adventure. Lots of walking but they do offer trams to ride on with a tour. Three different pricing for those who attend.
There is some of the park under construction as they get ready for summer but still worth the visit.

The place is always under construction. Seems like it will never get done. Hard to navigate and find where you want to go. Very few directional signs. Not very wheelchair friendly as there are way too many hills, some pretty steep. It would be impossible to navigate unless someone is with you to push you up the hills. Very few animals were seen.

One of the best Zoo's, EVER. I just wouldn't reccomend going on the free day because their is WAYYYYY TOO MANY PEOPLE THERE AT ONCE!!!!!!!!!!

This is a must see zoo. The animal pens are fixed up to look like the animals natural habitat. There is so much to see and do. If you have little ones, There is an amazing playground and in the kid area, they have a little waterfall that runs into a shallow stream that the kids can safely play in. There is an endangered animal carousel to ride. The Oklahoma Trails is a must see, This area features Native animals in great habitats. With a fantastic waterfall in the Bear Area. Make sure to see the elephant exhibit. The landscaping is beautiful with lots of trees and flowers. There is a tram you can ride tickets are 6.00 and you can get on and off as much as you like for the day. There is plenty of choices for food and drink. Admission for adults is 11.00 For seniors 65 and up and children ages 3 to 11 is 8.00. There is a Military discount of 50 percent for active duty, veterans, and retired military. And there is a lot of FREE parking. If you have a little time or all day this is well worth the visit. As with most places the weekends are so much busier than the weekdays.

I love this zoo! It’s a very shady walk with exhibits close together. Exhibits are clean & attractive. Nice sting ray exhibit! I brought my kids here when they were little & now with my grandkids.

Love this zoo, even though it takes a while to walk through the zoo. The animals have a larger than an average zoo living area. My kids loved the sea lion show and feeding the sting rays. Will be back soon! Even if it is for the 8th time.

The visit to the zoo was great with tons of animals out on a beautiful spring day. As it was spring break though, crowds became an issue starting around lunchtime. The exhibits are plentiful- but the facility seemed difficult to navigate without clearly displayed signage and paths that tended to dead end or go long stretches without exhibits. Also beware- many of the exhibits here cost extra. They push the "ride it all" and "zoo it all" options. They seemed pricey when we bought our tickets but in hindsight may have been cheaper had we known what all we would have to pay for once inside.

I was looking forward to taking the boys to the zoo before school started. Sadly, there is so much construction it took away from seeing some of the animals. You could walk for hours and in some places have to retrace your steps because of construction. We had the map, but the areas of construction are not marked. Very disappointing. We only saw two places open for food/snacks and the rest was vending machines which may or may not work. Thankfully, we had our own waters and snacks. Outside food/drink are allowed.
The sea lion show was fun! The stingrays were cool too. However, there is a fee to enter the stingrays and another fee to feed them!
Most animal experiences cost extra and are only at certain times of the day. Plan accordingly!

Convenient seating throughout the zoo, extensive food options including spacious picnic spaces, water spray umbrellas to cool yourself during the heat of the day. We took the tram around the park and what informative guides we had. Gorgeous landscaping to complement the 1200 varieties of animals. Our three favorite activities included the animal nutrition center, being afforded opportunity to view medical procedures in progress at the hospital and greatest of all was the amazingly well stocked gift shop of educational and fun things.

Please bring your family to the zoo, often. Get good time with your kids while you can, and this is a GREAT place to do it. Lots of different animals that I would not have expected to see. In May you can get a discounted membership at Matthis Brothers

This zoo is a must see. We went because they had elephants and stingrays. Some things our zoos at home got rid of. It was well worth the money and we easily spent the day walking around and riding the elephant tram. The best part was definately how you can watch procedures being completed on the animals. Amazing

Wonderful compared to 20 years ago. The larger habitats are an improvement. The only reason I didn't give full stars - upkeep. Between the habitats and the path guardrails the is do much overgrowth that I could not see the elephants except from one small area. They do have higher observation decks, but they were closed. All in all, I recommend the zoo. Id ho again.

Zoo is a little outdated but they're constantly adding more things to do. Its GREAT for children because there are several small play areas. Shows are well worth it, and overall this is one of our favorite zoos. This last time we went is was colder outside, and not many people were there, but they kept the starbucks open so we were able to stay warm haha.

Zoo going under a lot of construction and disrupting flow it use to have. About 50% of the animals were not visible inside enclosures and you spend more time walking than seeing animals. Tram is annoying and blocks up walkways without warning. Can get close to some animals without paying extra.

Along with the above mentioned animals they also have gorillas, chimps, along with an assortment of other animal species. When we visited they were in midst of an expansion project due to be opened next year.

This is a great Zoo. Your family would love it. A must see. for everyone. Got to go! See you there!!!!

Our Zoo is amazing! I haven't been in a while. We bought the zoo-it-all and it was worth it if you plan to make it to the shows and feedings. There is so much to do and see and the construction of the exhibits are beautiful. We enjoyed our lunch at Lotus Pavilion at Sanctuary Asia. A little pricey but it was a filling meal and a clean dinning area. It is a full day of fun. Also make sure to ride the elephant express if you haven't before, you will get some great information and insight into the zoo.

The Zoo is a real treat for everyone. Had a 3 year old with me today and they where thoroughly entertained.
The Bumble Bee Dirt Frog was even active!
Feeding the Giraffes was the highlight of the day.

My top two zoos in the US. This zoo is easy to get around in. It has a tram if needed. Buy from Mathis Brothers Furniture to get a discount, a family pass is around $69. for the year. The zoo is a zoo and a botanical garden. It covers about 120 acres. Also, it has about 2,000 animals

We signed up as a family and other friends to go out and do the one on one elephant excursion. Fortunately only 10 people get to go so my 2 kids went with our friends, my wife and I didnt't go. We were able to watch through the window and what a complete waste of time and money it was. we paid I think $70.00 per person. Each person got 5 - 10 seconds to reach through the bars in the cage to touch the elephant.
What a waste of time and money. I guess we should have asked more questions before purchasing our passes. The flyer we read makes it seem like you will get to interact with them much more.

It was my grandbabies first visit to the zoo. She loved and of course we still love it. We have been visiting here for years. The flowers were beautiful. Very friendly staff!!

Because of the coronavirus, the zoo had a one way trail that all visitors would follow to maintain social distancing. This actually made it easier to visit all the exhibits in an organized fashion. I was surprised by the number of elephants that the zoo had. The facility was very clean and since it has been years since I visited a zoo, my wife and I both enjoyed the experience greatly.

My kids and I had a good time at this zoo. It was laid out well and had interesting animals. We were only there for about 3 hours, so didn't get to take advantage of all the displays and shows, but we enjoyed what we were able to see.

I had an amazing experience here! Most of the animals were out wandering their enclosures. The admission fee is a little high, but if you bring an old phone it is free! We went in the morning when the zoo first opened, so the crowd was not too bad. The staff was absolutely amazing and very knowledgeable! It took about 4 hours to get through the entire zoo. The zoo has been updated a lot since I went 3 years ago.

We went as a family for the first time here. We tried to get on the tram 2 x and it was always full and no one getting off. Finally got on the 3rd time and had to get all 5 of of us to fit in one row. 2 kids had to sit on our laps with very little room. If you feed the lorikeets each person has to pay $4 even if you don't want to feed them to enter. Thought that was silly. We did feed them though and it was nice until we got told to leave cause the workers needed to go eat their lunch. Ice cream place was closed and not much as far as food to eat at the zoo. Gift shop was nice but expensive. Would not go back here. Not very many animals here to see.

My son loves the zoo, full stop. Its his favorite place to go. He loves seeing the animals and talking to all the keepers. So many different ways to experience the zoo! It’s great for taking a picnic lunch, but the food tends to be good as well. The playground is massive and has two sections for different ages. They also offer zoo experiences with animals for an additional cost, but they are worth every penny.

It is top of the line, not only animals but a meeting place to hold events, food was excellent, wait teams was just great

The sea lions were great, as were the stingrays, and many other exhibits, but the bats were incredible. Idon't think I have seen a bat exhibit with 100's of flying bats. . The enclosures seemed plenty large, and clean, the animals appeared healthy and well fed. Very nice.,

Many things I like about the OKC Zoo, restrooms centrally located, plenty machines for drinks, most of the animals were active by noon, food is reasonably priced and tasty, lots for the young kids to do across the park, and families can bring food and drink if they prefer. Have been before and will return.
The young tigers were very active, to the delight of all our family.

Went to feed giraffes with 2yo, no one else around but employees-allowed 2 twigs to feed and that’s all, even tho the employees were still there just shoveling twigs down them. There was no notice that you only received 2 when you paid. Very upset child who wanted more and didn’t understand why “that’s all”. I would understand if the employees weren’t feeding them and other people in line, but that wasn’t the case.
Should be nice when all the construction is complete.
Enjoyed the aquarium area.

So let me start by saying that I am a Zoo free can I bend over 60 zooz. I would say this at zoo is a little above average for a midsize City. There's some really great parts to it like the Asia part with the elephants and all that very nicely done and very new and modern you can tell. But then there are some parts like the whole western part of the zoo with the giraffes and all that that are very plain and kind of boring having chain link fence those are the parts center in need of modernization. It did have a lot of the primary animals giraffes elephants primates lions tigers all of that was great. Good selection of animals and most of the enclosures were pretty decent in size. Was not a fan of the aquarium part seemed kind of old and small does look like they're doing a new children's zoo portion so that looks big and exciting. It's a decent size Zoo so plan on spending a couple hours at least. Easy to get to & nice area of town. I really like the Oklahoma Trails areas well that was very nicely done as well as the barn that inhabits the night creatures that was kind of interesting. They do have a carousel and a tram ride through the zoo. I recommend this Zoo it's above average

On spring break we took 3 12yr old girls to the okc zoo. It was mad house in the parking lot but we lucked out an caught sumone leaving that was close to front. A little word of advice.... But ur tickets online an print em off other wise get ready to stand in line. After a day of walking all over, on our way to leave I spotted what could have easily been my most favorite part of the day!!!!! "The lions brew"but
Frozen mixed adult beverages!!! Fantastic

This is a great zoo, full of animals and large for OKC! They have some great prices: $11 for general adult admission; children 2 and under are free, and they offer half-off for military! They have a nice assortment of animals and the staff is always very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I would say avoid going here on a Saturday if you can, otherwise it will be hard to find parking and there tend to be a lot of people there. I was there on a Sunday and we were some of the only people there and it was amazing! We took the train once and it was a short little ride, I probably wouldn't pay extra for it. Overall, this zoo is a great place to take children and go learn a lot some incredible animals!

Very disappointed in this zoo visit. I feel like the staff at ticket counter should have been transparent about what exhibits were open. Very few were open which is somewhat understandable due to the time of year. There was so much construction and most big exhibits were not accessible.

My wife and I recently moved from Denver, and we weren't sure what to expect with the OKC zoo, but we were both pleasantly surprised! The zoo is quite large, with a wide variety of animals in what look like very well kept enclosures. Despite it being a chilly day, we were able to watch a lot of animals moving about and enjoying the sunshine. The best part was, since it was a chilly weekday, we were practically alone in the zoo. No crowds whatsoever!

If you are a big zoo person, then you will know $11 for adults and $8 for children is extremely reasonable. Now this is just general admission which gets you in the zoo and all the exhibits. But you can buy addons which obviously increase the price. We went on an afternoon when it was around 100 degrees and were not expecting much action. As you enter the zoo you are met with some older exhibits and the zoo appears older. But around the back 3/4s the zoo has either been updated or extended because it is new with over sized space for animals to not only be seen but have room to roam. The elephant enclosure is pretty impressive, along with a great bear enclosure. This zoo also has a huge medical facility that looks brand new. Now for the downside. Hardly anything was open. It's the school holidays and apart from vending machines all concessions in the park were closed. Most of the addons which luckily we did not purchase were not running. What was surprising was that even in the afternoon heat apart from tigers all animals seemed to be up and moving. Lastly most zoo's follow an easy to follow route that takes in all exhibits, here there were several dead ends and back tracks to get to a different area. This takes extra time vs. a more flowing route

I love Okc ZOO. it's one of the best zoo's I've had the pleasure of visiting. You can pay to feed some of the animals. There are all types of awesome animal exhibits to view. My personal favorite is the Elephant sanctuary. It's literally an elephant playground with great views of the elephants. It takes up a large section of the back of the zoo,. Just this area alone to me was worth the small admission price. The food is what you would expect as far as pricing goes and they also serve alcohol for those that partake. All in all, worth every penny plus if you need to you can bring your own food such as coolers and things of that nature as well as picnic areas throughout the zoo. Would recommend you get there a little around opening time as this ZOO closes at 5. ZOO-IT-ALL pass is the best way to experiences this attraction.

Kids are 5 and 7 and it was all we could stand plus some. Great animals that were very active. Made me think they are comfortable and well cared for. Best zoo I have ever been too. A huge place. Super crowded Memorial Day weekend and it is so big it really didn’t impact the experience.

We have had a zoo membership for several years and enjoy visiting the OKC zoo often. The new Asia exhibit is really cool. We always enjoy the Oklahoma Trails and the water area in the children’s zoo is great fun when the weather is warm.

We went to the Botanical Gardens and not the zoo. This review is for the Botanical Gardens only. The gardens are outstanding and well worth your time for a visit. Parking on the street across from the Botanical Gardens was easy.

We have been to the OKC zoo 3 times already this month and we love it! I have a 1 yr old and I also bring my nephew (9) and niece (13). We always enjoy ourselves. There is fun for all ages. It does get warm so don’t forget the sunscreen and misters. We love feeding the birds nectar and looking at all the other animals. The chimpanzee exhibit is another favorite of ours.

I have been to many zoos in the US and abroad, and the Oklahoma City Zoo was one of the nicest zoos. At first, it does not seem too big, but if you want to see everything and read all the information, you can easily spend the entire day exploring.
There are also special packages and experiences that you can add onto the base ticket.
Special Kudos to the food service department for offering more than one vegan option on the menu. My daughter was thrilled to be able to get something other than a veggie burger. She had a very tasty Asian dish, that they modified by leaving out the egg.

The zoo is really moving forward with putting the well-being of the animals first. The new Sanctuary Asia exhibit has brought in new animals (like the baby Cassowarys!) and changed the red panda enclosure so you can see them even on the hot days while they stay cool inside. Looking forward to the updates to the orang-utan area! The zoo also offers a feature called Wild Encounters, allowing you to go behind the scenes and meet some of the animals one on one. My spouse and i have a zoo-friends pass and try to go often, during off hours, so we can enjoy the animals without the crowds. The zoo also seems stroller friendly, and offers a train/tram service around the park if legs get tired. There is a new picnic pavilion with good covering to take a break for a snack. The children zoo area also looks like a lot of fun!

We bring our 8th graders to the zoo each spring and I still find something new to see each year! Staff was very friendly and helpful. The zoo is clean and inviting. And this year the weather was perfect for all of the animals being out in the areas for excellent viewing!

I think Oklahoma city zoo is one of the best I gave been to. Went to see the new Asia exhibit and it was beautiful. Very well done. The parking lot was full and we found the last spot. But other then that it was a pleasant beautiful day there.

all was epic and the bio dome was really cool. in the jungle sanctuary their was a monkey on the boardwalk. great place, and i highly recommend it :)

The animals were great and the employees we re e helpful as well. The only issue we had was we were under an extreme heat advisory and all the drink machines for water were empty we did finally come across a girl with a cart of drinks and the water was $3 a bottle bit at the time I would have paid $5! The was in all a good time for us!

For those of you who have never worked with wild animals and don't understand their behavior, let me be the first to tell you that when you go to a zoo, literally any Zoo, and it is hot outside? Like if YOU think it's hot outside? Then the Animals ALSO think that it is hot outside! And because of that, they're going to seek shade and shelter and maybe even just want to stay indoors and not come outside at all. Because... Surprise! It's HOT!
So do yourself and your family a favor and plan your trips out a little smarter next time. If you want to go to the zoo and you want to see the animals outside, don't go in the middle of July when it's 95° out. Either go very early, literally first thing in the morning, or wait until earlier in the season or later in the season. But if you go at noon in the middle of June, July, or August, do not be surprised if you don't see very many animals out. Because guess what? It's HOT!
Also, the Monkey Island Pirate Ship was a death trap and ill conceived and very hard to clean. It's a good thing that it is gone. Get over it.

Great place to visit and see animals. The OKC Zoo is continually working to upgrade habitats for the animals here. I absolutely love, love the elephant habitat. Other animals, as well, have nice habitats and plenty of room to roam. The animals look healthy and well cared for. Plenty of rest stops along the way for the tired ones or handicapped.

We try to check out zoos whenever we get out of town. This one drew our attention because they have bears! There are none at our zoo anymore. I loved this zoo! It is very clean and you have the opportunity to view many, many animals. We saw bats, bears, bison, deer, snakes and more. We were able to see the tortoise feeding. The male is 75 years old and the female is 100! Crazy! You must see this zoo if you are ever in OKC.

Save your money!!! Admission to the sip and stroll is $17 and the drink pass is an additional $27 so a total of $44 to literally go to the zoo just for the drinks. Most exhibits are closed and you cannot even get into them. The snake house? Closed. The aquarium? Closed. The Oklahoma trail? Closed. The drinks are ok but definitely not worth the cost of admission plus drinks as we saw very few animals tonight. Plus they charge more for a regular admission during the day. Just save your money and if you do go for the adult only hours (6-10 pm) don’t buy the drink card and just buy the drinks you want at each stand. The drinks included in the pass are very small and weak, but I witnessed a girl order a signature drink at one of the stands and hers was large and looked amazing with fresh pineapple on the side. The drink pass includes nothing of that nature and is a total waste of money.

Loved the exhibits. Easily walkable. Animals were well cared for. Lots to see in the morning Avoid afternoons in the summer.

I’ve visited a couple of times with my family since summer started. Every time we go, the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly! There are food options for vegetarians like the black bean burger. It’s pretty good, too!

This was my first time visiting the zoo. It was a hot day so there were very few people. The animals weren't active - mostly lying in the shade. The giraffes were walking around eating their leaves which is always fun to watch. The walkways are wide and fairly well-marked although I ended up having to back-track a couple of times. Not much shade so wear sunscreen and a hat. The vet clinic was interesting (and air-conditioned) so worth stopping in to watch a video and see the equipment.

This zoo is a well-kept secret among USA zoos. It is thoughtfully laid out and kept immaculately clean. The workers are friendly and helpful. There are tons of animals to see, and plenty of indoor viewing areas with air conditioning for hot summer days. Most of the pathways are extremely shady.
The landscaping is quite beautiful, and if you can take your eyes off the animals, the zoo is also a botanical garden with huge stands of bamboo as well as seasonal flowers. This was my third trip to the zoo since Spring 2019. There must have been a million tulips in bloom.
We have an annual family zoo pass which is the deal of the year if you have kids, grandkids or simply love the zoo and landscaping. There are always tons of kids, many in strollers which glide easily along the gently sloping, shaded pathways.
The habitats for the animals are quite extraordinary, and the zoo is continually expanding and improving what they have. A new tortoise exhibit is currently under construction.
There is a large children’s playground area, as well as a smaller one located close to the Children’s Petting area.
There are plenty of clean bathrooms and places to eat or get ice cream, as well as vending machines with Gatorade, sodas or snacks. It is totally family-friendly. Excellent signage explaining habitats and animals.
Keep up the spectacular job, OKC Zoo!

The OKC zoo is very large and has done an impressive remodel since I was last there in the early 2000's. My family and I had a great time and the animals on display were well located and seemed to be well cared for and happy. My only warning is that if you are going in the summer remember that this is Oklahoma and it will be very hot. The zoo is actually aware of this and had large water misting cooling stations located everywhere. Really a top notch zoo for its size.

Our trip to okc zoo was great. We’ve been to other zoos in the heart of summer and basically got to look at the grass in empty enclosures due to animals searching for shade in their pins. Of course you can’t blame them, lol. But okc zoo 2nd week of July and about 93 degrees from open to noon all animals were out. I’m not sure if zoo feeds late or what but I was shocked that we seen every outdoor animal there was to see. Aside from good assortment of animals there are many shows and encounters you can attend/purchase. Fed giraffes, watched Sea Lions, touched the rays and rode the train. We felt we packed a ton in from 9-1:30. And pretty easily managed terrain. Very flat zoo.

The best thing about this place is how some of the animals were displayed. The barriers were set up in such a way that the animals could get close, but not in any kind of dangerous way to the people. Very friendly staff all though out. They have a great Facebook page which enticed me to go.

Small and easy to get around. Not as many animals as other zoos I’ve been to but glad we went. Disappointed they charge extra for everything such as some of the shows and the stingray exhibit when the entrance fee was fairly high.

Stopped there mainly to get our steps in for the day but enjoyed seeing the animals. Pleasantly surprised they had 50% off for military card holders.

They take excellant care of the animals. always have a great time there. Love how the Oklahoma community supports them.

First time visitors. We spent 5 hours in the zoo just walking around and looking at all of the animals. I have been to zoos all over the country and this one is very well done and right up there with San Diego and other large zoos. They are doing construction and I can't imagine how much better it will be once that is complete. All of the staff was super nice. Large and beautiful habitats for the animals. So glad we took this in as part of our vacation and I highly recommend!

I have been to this zoo maybe a dozen times over the last 30 years. Did not see any bears, cougars, wolves, elk, antelope, or other American favorites. There are less animals than before and on hot days, the animals are housed in such a way as you cannot see them. Seems they could design the place where you could peek into the entire exhibit, maybe through glass or an elevated view. On the upside, there was a hippo calf that was up and about. The place was clean and lots of staff around.

Spent 3 hours and didnt see it all. Make sure you plan for enough time. If you pay for the all zoo extra exhibits check the show times we were not aware we would only have a 30 min window to feed the giraffes unfortunately we missed it.

What a nice zoo! Co-located near the Science Museum and Planetarium, the comination of global animals and wide variety of plant life is nicely balanced.
Central to the zoo is a boardwalk which meanders through 11 zones unique to Arkansas. The Animal hospital was neat - being able to look into the different treatment spaces from above provided a cool perspective.
Fun place!

My husband and I travel to a new zoo every year for our anniversary since we were married at a zoo. The OKC Zoo was one of the best ones we’ve been to. It has a large layout, looked like there was continuous updating and new exhibits going in, plenty of shade for those hot days and very friendly staff. Multiple times while we walked around they would just simply greet you. The sea lion show was fun so be sure to stop in for it. We did the zoo it all passes which I highly recommend to get the full experience of the zoo. The tram, train and shows are all included. Take the tram if you are interested in learning more about the zoo and to get dropped off at the furthest exhibit so you can walk it back.

Bought the zoo it all band. Highly recommended since you can pet/maybe feed stingrays, feed lorikeets as the sit on your hand or arm, ride team and more. Staff was exceptionally friendly and interactive. All presentations through out day were excellent. We were there from 930 till closing at 5 and there were still a few things we didn't have time to see. Lots of walking since paths from main walkways are very curvy and weave back and forth a lot. Cheeseburger and black bean burger and fries excellent in lotus cafe. $27 for lunch for two but worth it for convenience and taste. Really enjoyed older gentleman on staff with white hair and moustache at giraffe feeding. Staffs love and pride for animals evident. Great escape smelled very bad maybe urine? Understand animals have smells though. Would definitely go back. Great for children 6 and up due to so much walking. Scooters for rent.

I am a longtime resident of Oklahoma City, but I don't think civic pride is overly influencing this review. The Oklahoma City Zoo is a first class operation. It is located in an area of wooded, rolling hills with beautiful landscaping added. All the buildings and exhibits are well maintained. The staff was friendly and always helpful. There are a lot of cafes and concessions. Restrooms, too. There are guided tours, special presentations, and events to enjoy. Of course, walking is the best way to really see everything. The Zoo is situated in a large area,so even though it was busy, getting around was easy. Great balance of animal welfare and people experience.

The Oklahoma City Zoo is a very fun place
To visit. We went with our sons who had a great time too. We went on a weekend and the crowd was not too bad. Warning, there is so much to do here that you walk a whole lot. Plenty of shade but it is humid.
Food prices are about a average.

Wonderful for a quick trip... I kind of thought my children liked it. I would say it is a must see if given a chance.

Hot visit to the zoo in July but we all still enjoyed it. The children’s zoo area offers a little water creek and splash area to help the little ones cool off. We absolutely took advantage of the water mist towers laid out around the zoo. It’s enough to cool you off.
The sea lion presentation in the morning was great since it wasn’t too hot. Attractions are spread out and will need to walk. There is currently construction in the elephant attraction and only one ramp to/from the building. Clean restrooms available up top along with seating area.
Side note, giraffes are hard to find but the Oklahoma trail will take you there and to the animal hospital. A wonderful employee had to show us the way, we kept getting on the wrong walkway.

Plenty to see and do at the Zoo. Well looked after animal's and plentiful verities of species on display. Highly recommended if your in Oklahoma City.

Kids will love the animals. I'm not sure if they still let you feed the giraffes but that is fun. Your children will be ecstatic!

I've been to famous zoos: The Washington D.C. zoo, the World famous San Diego Zoo. A zoo in Chicago and one in St Louis. None of these zoos compare in any way to the Oklahoma City Zoo and Zoological Park. The exhibits are open and easy to access. They are educational. They are fun. They are clean. The aquarium is world class. (In Oklahoma? Yes, in Oklahoma.) The grounds are a horticulture preserve of the highest quality. Scientists come from all over the world to study in our aquarium and to see our specimens. A Great Way to spend an afternoon.

My husband and I love zoos and visit them whenever we travel; we have been to many good ones across the country—large, small, and in-between. This zoo is apparently still a work in progress, so it impressed us as only “average” right now. The construction that is underway is very detracting from surrounding exhibits at the front of the zoo, with its noise and chain-link fencing. When that is completed and walkways currently closed are reopened, the zoo will no doubt have better flow and appearance. We hope to revisit then and hopefully catch more animals than were visible in late December. (Also, the “botanical garden” aspect of this zoo will no doubt be nicer than it appeared during our winter visit.)
We enjoyed the back of the zoo more than the front, especially the Asian area and Oklahoma Trails. We had lunch in the Lotus Pavilion, which was the only café open. There were numerous Safari Lights lanterns arranged here and there, which were colorful even if unlit. (We did not attend the evening event due to the high cost for just 2 adults in a car.)
This zoo is generally level and easy to traverse. We spent about 4 hours in all, arriving before 11:00 a.m. and finding plentiful parking available.

Phenomenal zoo. Very well laid out and the habitats were exceptional for viewing the animals that were out on the hot day. We have a top-rate zoo in our home town but this one is exceptional in many areas and I prefer it to ours. Make sure you bring your walking shoes though! That hill is no joke while pulling a wagon

I was impressed by the Oklahoma habitants area. It showcases most of Oklahoma's animals in a unique setting. Be ready to walk as it's a large zoo, or take a ride if you don't mind paying a little more

The zoo is nice with an extensive collection but they have some renovations going on that made it look like a bit of a work in progress.

The zoo has variety of animals, one time last year we saw 5 tigers and the lion’s family. It offers interactive activists such as touching the sheeps, birds, etc. it has trains for tired feet and playground for children. It’s a good place to relax and be cose to nature.

OKC really does have a great zoo. It's well maintained, clean, and nearly every time we go there is something new. The new Asia exhibit space currently under construction looks amazing. We love the Oklahoma trail section with all our native animals. The giraffe feeding and the elephant observation deck are also favorites. We also very much enjoy the gorillas especially right now with the baby.
My kids would spend the day at the two playgrounds. I'm always reminding them that we didn't come for the playground, but the playgrounds are so unique and huge that we have to stop. We also love the children's zoo especially the water play for hot days. There is so much to see and do that it's easily a full day outting. It's a nice place to pack a picnic with plentiful shady picnic spots or there are several food stations that are actually far more tasty than you might expect.

A wonderful zoo with great exhibits! I especially enjoyed the Okapi, cheetahs, Gorillas, chimpanzees, and fishing cats. The Veterinary Hospital was very interesting and you can see into where they have the animals for medical procedures. I highly recommend riding the tram.

I am visiting for work and had some time after my workday to explore, so I chose the zoo.
This was a pretty big zoo! I thought I would be done within an hour, but I spent over two hours there. And I even rushed.
They had a pretty good selection of animals and the layout was aesthetically pleasing - not just some cement city of exhibits.
The only thing that really kept this place from a 5 was that a decent portion of the exhibits didn’t have animals for whatever reason. It looked like they were under maintenance or something. And maybe I should have checked the website or something prior to entering, but I didn’t realize feeding times were only once a day - good to know if you buy the full pass.

You need to walk back again a couple of times to see it all, they have many animals to see but some areas are empty.
they sell a lot of extras to do
if you have small kids I recommend you to buy the shuttle to avoid extra walking

Waste of money! Went to see the drive thru Christmas lights which had very strick rules the lack of lights isn’t worth 70-80$ for a carload i wish i could get a refund…

It's worth going once if you're an adult without kids. I can see you going more times if you would like to take your children. A zoo is a zoo to me, and I have been to several notable ones throughout my life. "Oh a giraffe" "Oh look an elephant." same story different city.

We are from KC so we are used to the Kansas City Zoo.. this zoo was disappointing. It’s very small and the walked paths kind of lead to dead ends.

From California, we have some top rated zoos, but Oklahoma City zoo provides so many up, close and personal opportunities.
I feel buying the Zoo-It-All was worth it just out of convenience, but if you dont do it all you may save some buying one event at a time.
What interactions does this zoo offer:
1. Stingray petting and feeding
2. Lorikeet feeding
3. Giraffe feeding (F,S,and Sun only for only 1 hour each day)
4. Camel rides (I think camel rides need to be re-thought. The camels were way too tired by the end of the day)
5. PAY THE EXTRA for the Up close and personal tours. For about $70, we got a unique experience with an Elephant. In CA, the cost would have been $150 per person.
Let me tell you more about the elephant encounter. It was a small group of 9 people. We got to go where the zookeepers go. They showed us how the elephants learn. We even got see the newest baby up close. We each got to pet the elephant. They are magnificent creatures with such personalities. Spending the extra made this beyond a special zoo trip.
You will need the full 9am to 5pm to fully explore this zoo.

The zoo offers a military/retired/veteran discount for the family which was much appreciated. It was a hot day, but there are multiple misting stations scattered throughout the zoo similar to other outdoor parks. We ate lunch in the Nepal area of the zoo and the food was very good and plenty of tables and chairs. There is an area for water play for toddlers. The animals were hot as the weather was >85 deg that day, but their habitats had plenty of shade. The veterinary hospital had a great viewing areas, but on this day it was empty. I enjoyed reading the information about each animal with their location and interesting facts. It was interesting to learn about the African dog conservation program. There are beautiful trees all along the walkways. I would like to see more description or name plates for the trees. There are convenient restrooms and areas to rest. There were not any staff members stationed about near the animal exhibits to help explain what we were seeing. The staff seemed to be concentrated on the food/vending areas. Some areas were a little confusing as the layout and we missed a few loops, but overall we saw most everythying. If you have young children to the left is the petting zoo and a good area to start. We spent at least 4 hours there. Keep up the good work.

Since 1960’s this zoo has been a top 10 zoo in USA. I loved the giraffes & you can hand feed then for $5.00.
We went early and great looks at the cats, gorillas, monkeys, elephants & many more. Great experience at a world class zoo!

We visited on a chilly day and didn't see as many animals as we would have thought would be out. I do not recommend buying the ticket through tripadvisor. You still have to wait in line to redeem it and you can not change the date of your visit should your plans change.

This was a nice zoo; however, I felt it was hard to navigate. The map was outdated. I would not take the tram thru the zoo as you could not see much. Landscaping was nice.

I do not like that they have extra charges to watch the sea lion show and touch and see the Sting Rays. Also extra charges to ride the tram and train.
The employees have all been super nice and friendly when we have went.
We go often to walk.
Informative listening to trainers/keepers at the Ape’s and Galapagos Turtles our last visit.
Also we really enjoyed the Elephant show.
Each time we have been we never have seen anything going on in the animal hospital.
Lots of walking to see the different exhibits.
Often many of the animals are not visible due to the time of day I have visited.
The grounds are well kept and lots of areas to sit and have a picnic.
They also have a chicken and waffle restaurant if you do not want to bring food into the zoo.
Parking is Terrible and we have actually left on two occasions due to not being able to get a spot.
This has mainly been on weekends.
Bathrooms are easily located thru out the park.
Gift shops. A Starbucks near entry/exit.
Strollers and scooter rental.
Pretty nice variety of different animals.
They have many special events Thru out the year.

Took the entire family. Loved the Rhino exhibit the most. Didnt get to feed the giraffes. Elephant exhibit was under construction. Like the way they can display the baby elephants separately.

I cannot say enough good things about this zoo. It is absolutely beautiful. It offers visitors spacious walkways, a wide variety of animals, plenty of space for picnics, a tram, carousel and play area for children, animal experiences (feeding giraffes, going behind the scenes with bears, rhinos, etc (extra fee!) and a multitude of animal keeper talks and presentations. We spent more than four hours here before we were say we'd seen everything. If you love animals or have small children, this is a MUST DO attraction. HINT: there is a pet kennel on site for $1.00. HINT: wheelchairs, ECV and stroller rentals available. HINT: outside food and drink allowed as long as they are NOT in glass containers.

Not many live animal's .... by that I mean there are a ton of exhibits waiting the holiday Zoo lights .... with display animals .... looks like it will be worth while to go to.

We have traveled to a lot of zoos and this one is tops. There are a couple others we have yet to visit but so far, this one is a wow! It is different because you see the animals without a fence or glass everywhere. A few of animals are separated by glass like the polar bears. But the brown bears, even eagles, and so many other animals are separated by a mote-like barrier with water. As a photographer, this is awesome. You actually feel close up to the animals. If I lived closer, I would go all the time.

This zoo is always clean and has a great selection of animals. We love the ape escape and the lion lookout. The elephant area has the best show. Walk the trail to see bears, bats, and more. I also loved feeding the giraffes for a small fee. I do wish they had more aquatics though.

Best zoo I've been to!! The animals were out and about (it was a full moon on the day we went), we got to see them up close, and even my husband said it was the best zoo experience he's ever had. We saw tigers wrestling with each other, grizzly bears up close, lions up close, etc.

My family took a trip to the Oklahoma City Zoo during our family vacation. Unfortunately, we were not as thrilled with our first time visit here. I am sure it has to do with possibly limited resources or funding, however, the zoo does not seem to be having landscaping maintenance being completed. Quite a bit of over-growth of weeds and bushes that made viewing animals a bit difficult at times. Excess weeds everywhere.
Pros: Snake exhibit, the Sea Otters and the staff members were all nice and pleasant. Plenty of seating available around the park for those who need to rest. Vending machines were reasonably priced at $3 for soda. You can bring in your own drinks and food.
Negatives: Lots of walking with limited excitement and overall lack of landscaping maintenance. Ice cream machines not functioning. Some of the available food options were a bit over-priced. For example, $6 dipping dots for a small package and $10 burgers without a side.
We will probably just stick with the Tulsa Zoo next time.

The zoo was clean, and the animals were well taken care of. What I didn't like or enjoy was the confusing layout. Most of the zoos I have been to, Tulsa, Dallas, Washington, DC, etc., were laid out in a circular discernable pattern with maps that were easy to read. This zoo was anything but easy and not laid out in any pattern. The exhibits were piecemealed over many years with no future plans.

I had not visited this zoo in over 20 years. I remember the first time I went, I was not impressed. A lot of concrete and not well maintained exhibits. OKC zoo has really stepped up their game since then! We had a very pleasant experience. A good variety of animals, cages well kept, habitats realistic with plenty of grass and trees, and the grounds are well maintained. It was very crowded when we went (second Saturday of OK spring break) and there were short waits to get through some of the exhibits and houses. But overall an enjoyable time at the zoo for the family and glad to see the improvements!

Such a great zoo! Very well kept, cean and amazed by the awesome stuff we got to see. Definitely recommend to every one to visit!

This is an excellent zoo with lots of animals, many of them unique to Oklahoma. The zoo is undergoing some renovation so all animal habitats may not be open. I recommend checking the website. Fun place for both adults and kids!

just be sure to bring your own food. We paid $25 for two chicken sandwiches and two bottles of water.
The staff were quite friendly and helpful. The animals seem well cared for, too. Our daughter was pleased to find several pressed penny machines and their app with an interactive map made getting around quite easy. We were also pleasantly surprised to find out that anyone with a military ID got in for half price! We would visit again if back in OKC.

Really enjoyed my visit. Pleasant walking zoo. Lots of animals to see, friendly staff. Only downside was literally every vending machine was empty. Bring water if it's a warm day.

One can easily spend a day here with all of the tremendous displays. It is a fine place to bring a family.

We had a blast!! Very clean and organized. The animal look very well take care and everything was so beautiful and entertaining.

We attended the OKC Zoo today, a pretty hot day. We enjoyed the zoo, especially the Oklahoma Trails area. As of today, much of the zoo is inaccessible due to construction of Expedition Africa. This is a good zoo, but I have 2 concerns. 1. There are plenty of places to drink water or buy a beverage, but very limited dining choices. 2. No signs pointing toward the exit of the zoo!! The latter was a big problem, as the paths diverge in many directions, and it is not easy to tell which route gets you out of the zoo. I was struggling to walk and stay upright due to a medical condition, and I ended up wasting my limited energy on going in the wrong direction several times. I consider this a serious problem. When they are done seeing the zoo, your customers MUST know how to get to the exit.

Family had a great time. There is a large construction area close to the entrance, but otherwise it was no more exhibit work than a normal zoo. Great display of snakes, the elephant exhibit is well done. Kids enjoyed the chimps. We finished with the sea lion show, it was really good. Lots of shade around the zoo, we spent 4-5 hours there. I would go back.

One of the best I've ever been to and have been all over the country. Excellent day of activities to be had at the OKC Zoo and if it's too hot right next door is the Science Museum which is unbelievable. My kids love both sites.

Beautiful zoo! The new sanctuary Asia is stunning. Elephants are always our favorite and the Oklahoma trail is great as well!

The OKC zoo has improved the animal enclosures to more humanely keep the animals. The elephant have a large area to roam and we humans have a high perch to see them. If you plan you can see one of the elephant shows to see them closer.
The grounds are well landscaped with the large cats near a bamboo forest.
The zoo no longer has dolphin, which I feel was a good decision to not keep them after several deaths.

I've been multiple times and enjoyed each trip-- totally worth the time and energy. Loads of different indoor/outdoor exhibits, lots of opportunities to get up and walk, they've just added new one but we haven't been able to see it yet. I like to try and get out there once or twice a quarter with at least one kid if not both.
There is a fair amount of holding my kids up to look at exhibits, not everything is eye-level.
Always: bring hand sanitizer for after your kids finish looking at exhibits, and their own snacks & drinks.
Summer months: Go early, spring for the tram, definitely bring the stroller, maybe
little clip-on-fan as well-- Oklahoma heat is no joke. There is a splash pad near the entrance in the "kids" area for when you're done with looking at stuff.
Winter months: Stroller and blanket.

Really enjoyed our visit to the OKC zoo. This zoo is huge. Unfortunately we did not cover all of the exhibits. We got there about 11am and left the zoo at closing which is 5pm. There is just a lot to see and lots to do. We paid $11 to go in per pp. They offer train and then all you can do for different prices. To be honest the tram offer I thought it was a waste of time for ppl who want to walk and actually get good pictures/ interact with animals. Dont get me wrong, it is well narrated when on the tram and has several stops for when ppl want to get off. It is also good for ppl who can not walk long distances. The zoo offers strollers and wheel chairs for rent. Our favorite part of the zoo was the Asia exhibition. Okay okay... all of the exhibits. My daughter's favorite was the giraffe's, because it was so close to them and she got some really awesome pictures. They have staff at various locations across the park very nice and ready to help you or guide you on the right direction. We did not eat there but did stop at one of their cafe's and got some drinks. The food looked delicious and was fair priced. Love it!

Very disapointed in this zoo. Many of the exhibits were closed or unavailable and they charge you for everything. If you want to see the stingrays thats another charge, Loreakeets extra charge. Signage was poor at best with the only maps being a QR code you have to scan on your phone. Found out after we were lost a few times how to use the app. Bring a water bottle with you as a bottle of pop will cost you 7 dollars. Very expensive for what you get.

This zoo is amazing! It blew me away! This is like New York or some other big city size and style! It is about 4 times larger than the Tulsa Zoo. It took us 6 hours to see everything we could and walk everywhere, plus there were exhibits that were closed and under construction. We will have to come back 2 more times to see all the shows. They have ALOT of shows! 1 bad thing is they charge alot of money for WAY TOO MANY things!!! The train is part of the construction area, so it will be closed for a while. They have a tram to take you around the park, but they really need to expand the train tracks to go around the entire zoo instead. People want to ride a train to get to different areas, not a damn tram!!!! I feel like I walked 8 miles! I wanted to see a seal, but all I saw was 2 sea lions. The signs said that both were in the same exhibit. They switch animals around in various different exhibits, most of which are all in the same family and all look like the same species, making you wonder what you are looking at. The signs say that 4 different species of cats that all look the same, are in 4 different random exhibits. Some other bad things are: Most exhibits have NO SIGNS AT ALL, so you don't know what you're looking at!!!! You can't have animals in exhibits if you don't have signs saying WHAT THEY ARE!!!! Those that do have signs where old types of signs that a zookeeper called "sign songy signs", meaning that they chose a weird song that they wanted you to sing to them for no reason!!! This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard that has to deal with signs of any kind! NOBODY is going to sing to an animal at the zoo!!! You need NORMAL signs that talk about THE ANIMALS ALONE!!! Nobody wants to sing or read about some stupid, childish crap at a zoo!!!! Seriously, I like the zoo, but there are some stupid people here that work in the sign department! Most of the employees are smart and make great decisions, but not the sign department.

We visited in November. When we came back to Oklahoma over spring break, they wanted to go back. I’m glad we did. Saw more animal activity since it was warmer. My kids enjoyed petting the goats and feeding the birds. They just acquired baby mountain lions and we enjoyed watching them playing.

Fun time with my 2 year old grand son. He was fascinated by the butterfly garden and of course loved seeing the elephants.

We enjoy visiting zoos the OKC Zoo did not disappoint! We enjoyed the unique presentations and enclosures. Lots of informative areas! We learned a lot about native Oklahoma flora and fauna!

Nice but a lot of walking for few animals. They have a children's zoo section as well. Many animals were off exhibit. If you want to kill time it's worth the visit, but not a "must-see" location.

I’ve been to the OKC Zoo a dozen times in my life and I always enjoy what they have there. There’s a large variety of animals to see and it’s very clean and well kept. There are lots to see and do.
To those who are on a budget but wanna go, every year the Oklahoma Blood Institute always gives away two passes to enter the zoo for free. Just some FYI

When planning your visit plan for plenty of time. This is a huge zoo. Each exhibit has a place to sit & rest. The exhibits are well laid out. Our favorites were the animal hospital & the Zooium.

The husband and I decided to take a mini vacation and travel 4 hours to come to the zoo. We enjoyed the zoo very much. There are areas where there are long walks between animals, but looks like they may be ready to start developing soon in those areas. We had a great time walking and seeing all the animals. They a taken care of well and the grounds are beautifully taken care of. We will be coming back.

After visiting other zoos, the OKC Zoo is a bit of a disappointment. There are some sightline issues. With elephants, bamboo is planted in front of the walkway, at places obstructing the view.
The restaurants start to close around 3. There are lots of beverage vending machines and water fountains. However, after three, it becomes difficult to find something to eat.
In November, Safari Lights is stunning. The best holiday tradition in Oklahoma City. Each year, the lights change. There is both a walking and ride through option. I highly recommend Safari Lights.

This zoo has some good animals including lots of elephants, hippos, rhinos etc. but it seems like none of the animals are out or active. They have a huge Elephant area but we just saw one elephant inside on a nice day. Lots of walking for not that many sights. It does have beautiful flowers though.

We got to the zoo about 11:30 and had no trouble parking. Parking is free!!
We bought the All to do at the Zoo pass for $29 (adult price). That included the Sea Lion Show, Giraffe Feedings and Sting Ray Experience as well as all the rides.
The map is a bit confusing but we figured out how to get around and see all of the animals. The enclosures are nice; we were able to see all of the animals, there was enough shade to keep us cool along with misters and air conditioning in the buildings.
The Sea Lion Show was charming and informative. I would recommend it as a nice break from walking around in the afternoon.
We had a hamburger for lunch, which was fresh and really very good - along with a cold beer! Then later ice cream and an Icee.

We've traveled to a lot of zoos throughout the region, including Tulsa, Denver, Kansas City and this one is by far one of the best. They've made so many improvements over the years and it shows! The kids area is great for the younger ones, and the asia exhibit is great! I can't wait to see what else they open up as they continue improvements. My kids loved feeding the stingrays, getting up close in many of the exhibits and feeding the giraffes. One of their favorites was being able to see and follow the sea otters as they swam. The entire zoo was clean and well maintained! We'll go back often!

I have been to this zoo several times, and it has changed a lot since the last time I was there in about 2015. There are lots of colorful displays, and it seemed like this time most of the animals were more active than usual, not just laying around. My favorite parts were the Galapagos turtles, an orangutan, and my teenager getting to feed a rhinoceros.

Must go to this Zoo. The animals look happy in their homes. Just amazing, just amazing. Best place in Oklahoma City.

We visited on a Sunday during the summer. I think our families favorite was the prairie dogs! So fun to watch! Also loved the gorillas! Be prepared to walk a lot, it is a huge zoo. I liked how there were plenty of places to sit down, buy a drink or something to eat.

I really enjoyed visiting the zoo. Large, clean, with plenty of animals. Loved the monkey island and the large areas in which the animals can live. I think it's one of the best zoos I've visited.

The Oklahoma City Zoo is a very well maintained, modern zoo. In the past several months they have been working on building a new habitat area. They have a good variety of animals, and the habitat layout makes it easy to see them.

This is a beautiful zoo. We have visited several times and never been disappointed. The paths are surprisingly shady but would suggest visiting in the morning when the residents are more active and more visible. We were able to observe animals in most habitats. The large mammal exhibits are particularly impressive. Plan to spend at least three hours here. This is a big zoo with miles of paths. We bought tram tickets and think they are well worth the extra expense. Highly recommended.

This is a nice zoo. They do honor memberships from other zoos for you to obtain a discounted admission. They also officer scooters for rent for people who need assistance getting around. My only complaint about the zoo was that I wasn't a fan of the layout of it. My mother and I had to double back a couple of times to get to the next section. Other then that, we had a great time. There are lots of animals to see and things to do, that a person could easily spend the whole day here to do everything. We were here for about 4 hours, and saw about 3/4 of the zoo. This zoo allows you to feed their giraffes for an additional cost. I recommend taking part is this opportunity. It's a lot of fun.
There are several places to get food and drinks in the zoo. No all of them are open in the off season, and some have limited menus.
There is a coffee shop at the entrance that serves Starbucks coffee. We had lunch at the Big Rivers Cafe. We both got cheeseburgers, and we both agree they were really good hambergers. They even toast the buns. Everyone employee we encounter at the zoo was very nice.

We spent 3 solid hours there and that was not enough time to do everything as out of towners. They had great animals that got pretty close to you. Staff was

We were pleasantly surprised by this zoo. The animals were active and interesting. Great design & plenty of shade for humans too. You can bring coolers in with food & drinks for picnics. Great price point for a day out. a large area is under construction currently and we look forward to visiting again when that part opens

Great place. We love it. I got the chance to help setup playground a few years back. Take your own snacks and drinks, or plenty money. The restaurant is quick.

Many of the exhibits are truly world class. While the zoo doesn't have the great many ecosystems of some other zoos, it has several that are always fantastic experiences!

Ehhh. Beautiful for a botanical garden, lacking in the zoo aspect. The animal exhibits were spaced far apart and the population of animals was rather sparse. Directional signage was non-existent and the map inadequate. Half our time was spent wandering around trying to find the exhibits. The ticket sales person was very polite and the ticket taker was extremely helpful and welcoming. The other employees not so much. I get it. It’s hot. You’ve given the same spiel over and over again. It’s hard to show enthusiasm. But to stand there, mumbling on in a monotone voice, looking everywhere but to the people to whom you are speaking, with an expression of “I hate my job” does not represent the zoo well at all and basically has put me off from ever spending my money there again. This happened at the petting zoo, the Dino exhibit, and all the concession stands we frequented. If you want a better zoo experience drive several hours south and visit the Fort Worth Zoo. Don’t waste you money at OKC.

This was my first visit to the zoo, and I loved it! There are so many exhibits to see from all over the world. The elephants we're my favorite. The zoo could use some better signs. Overall it's great!

Been there several times. Good place to take the family at affordable prices. Be sure to check their website for discounts (ie military, healthcare, first responders).
Enjoy the lion and reptile exhibits. Best time to see the reptile exhibit is in the winter when the crowds are sparse. During the summer months, the crowds in the reptile house get to the point of annoyance. People can't seem to understand the meaning of one way traffic flow. Overall the zoo offers a lot of great exhibits.
Best time to visit winter, spring, and fall. Summer months the zoo gets crowded and the Oklahoma heat can be unbearable. The zoo does have misting stations throughout the park during the park. If you visit for the zoo lights, go during the week and as soon as it gets dark to avoid the large crowds.
The zoo had been doing a lot of remodeling and adding new attractions. I bet by 2025 this will be a premier zoo to visit.

Our two Grandsons loved our zoo trip. They were able to feed the Giraffes and since it was April(not to hot yet) they were able to see most of the animals. Prices are as you would expect but worth it.

There are lovely plants at this zoo but a number of patches with no animals where the zoo is under construction at the moment. It is not a bad zoo but not the best just pretty average.
We saw a very cute baby Orangutan, the big cats section we could see the cats well the bats in the nocturnal area were cool.
It is not too expensive to enter. There are more experiences for more $$ that we didn’t try.
We did eat here and the food was surprisingly good. Even had a Pad Thai at the Lotus pavilion, it was good.
Glad we went but wouldn’t hurry back.

We love the OKC Zoo mostly because its affordable and well taken care of!! The elephants are our favorite animals to follow...

My two daughters and myself went to this wonderful zoo...we had so much fun..my oldest daughter got to see a red panda, that made her whole day. The sea lion show was great and my youngest daughter loved stingray bay..everyone needs to go to the zoo !!!

This zoo is wonderful. I have been enjoying this zoo every few years since I was a child. It has evolved and changed in a positive direction over the years. I highly recommend getting the pass to ride the train and the tram. It is a good size zoo and your feet and body will thank you if you are middle aged or older haha!

Always a good place to visit. I don't like the idea of captivity but the animals look like they are well taken care of.

Great place to visit. Friendly staff. Animals well cared for. I like the environment. Nice place for a senior leisurely stroll for an afternoon or all day.

Great zoo, very clean and well-kept. We saw lots of new plans for new exhibits. Like other reviewers, I wish they would put of signage. You have no idea where you are going and the flow could use some work. We had to backtrack several times to see everything.

Spread out. Great elephant exhibit!! No paddle boating or train runs today though. There’s a place where they sell Chicken Waffles

I make a point to go to a zoo in every state or city that I travel, but the one closest to home is still my favorite. There are tons of activities for kids and adults alike. The animals are obviously well cared for and in good spirits.

we loved the new Asia exhibit. our favorite each year is the Oklahoma trails. loved getting to see the care in the hospital area. I have a bad knee and foot and rented scooter this time and made it so much more enjoyable. thank you. my son and wife loved riding camel.

Took the family and we all had a great time. The variety of animals and birds were astounding. Very scenic and presented well, different habitats looked very natural.
We really had a great time.

This is great place to take the family for a day out. Lots to do and things to see. I know we went on a very hot day there is a lot of shade. You can bring your own picnic into the zoo and there is food available there. Able to have some interaction with the small animals. There are guides in some areas telling you about the exhibits. And also take a short train ride around the zoo. Gift shop is at the entrance. All in all a great place to take the family.

The Oklahoma City Zoo is a lovely zoo. The caretakers and zookeepers were amazing with the animals. The habitats were well kept. We were able to cover most of the zoo in 4 hours. If not for the heat, we would have spent a few more hours.
There are plenty of misting stations, little shops and stores.
It's worth the visiting this zoo.

I havent been to many zoos and this one just confused me. You do alot of back tracking and alot of the animals were off exbit. Wasn't happy with this zoo.

We enjoyed our visit but there are several things to consider. There is no signage to direct you to different exhibits. They give you a map but even then it’s not user friendly. I recommend the app which is free. Take a stroller or wagon if you have small children, each exhibit is quite a ways from the next. Several exhibits were closed upon our visit. After speaking to the nice lady at the front, there was nobody around to help you through the zoo. The food is expensive and the choices are limited, burgers and chicken. We did find a pizza offering and hotdogs. They say they have salad but we were told they were out. Overall, the people who interact with the animals seem to really care and are great. There’s a wide variety to see and experience.

Took the family to the OKC Zoo. Had a great time. The zoo has a wide variety of animals and is well designed. Parking is free and easy to get in and out. This was our second visit to the zoo. We will definitely be back.
We did just the General Admission. Although we debated getting one of the upgrades which more than doubles the price. Ultimately we opted not to upgrade. Honestly, we were glad we didn't. There wasn't any time we were in the park where we wished we had done one of the additional paid items. YMMV.

I have no idea how many animals the OKC Zoo has. I don't think it's as many as some of the other large city zoos I have been to such as The National Zoo or The St. Louis Zoo. But its a sizeable zoo and what they have they do well. It's easy to get close to the gorillas and grizzlies. Most animals are easy to view. The flora and fauna is plentiful, various and striking. There are lots of food options and more restrooms than many zoos. This was a good trip.

The Zoo offered what they called a "Safari Walk" which offered social distancing and was monitored by zoo staff. The staff all had on masks and gloves and were very helpful during our entire stay. I personally liked the Safari Walk better than the regular zoo operation of "freedom" to go where you wish. The advantage to this is that they have the entire zoo experience marked off on a ONE WAY paved path with signs clearly marking every turn. I never had to worry about which animal to go see next or what I might miss as their route took me to each area and I could spend as long there as I wished. It was a two mile walk that took a bit over 2 hours but could have been done faster if we chose. GREAT IDEA!!

Took my two grandsons to the zoo, when I flew up to visit. It was amazing, we did it ALL. We rode the train and the bus, we saw the elephant show as well as the sea lion show, we also fed the birds, which was AMAZING. You have to do it all when you go, but plan for two full days to see it all. The train itself goes into an enclosure, where you can literally come with feet of these animals. I love the starbucks as well as the fried chicken we ate at the park. We got frozen lemonade in the middle of the day, it was refreshing. Mr Jerry was our train conductor, he was great!

If you love animals also nature, this is a good place to visit with kids or even by yourself.
It's nice to be visited mostly during the summer season or any time you prefer. I think it's a better experience during summer but it could get really hot during this season. You may visit it during spring or fall if you. Don't want to get hot.

This zoo has a good variety of animals. I especially liked the apes. Abundant birds, reptiles, bats, pigmy hippos, rhinos, etc. The landscaping in the park is beautiful. They have a playground for young ones. Be aware there is a large amount of walking involved

Animals were active as we toured a few ‘wild encounters’. Our docent was very friendly and knowledgeable as she walked us to the exhibits. While not a very large zoo, the exhibits are well laid out with additional Safari section under current construction. Didn’t have opportunity to see the Dino section but the dinosaur at the entrance looked impressive. Fun for all ages, whether a family visit or a couples date, this zoo won’t disappoint.

Impressed with all the updates to the zoo. Nice exhibits and staff to answer questions about the animals. We had a great visit with our 11 year old grandson. Highly recommend.

We love visiting the zoo. The Oklahoma exhibit is a winding place to learn about the animals native to our state. I love seeing the elephants in their habitats. They are so fun and playful.

We have a zoo pass here and there’s always tons of animals out. My kids can’t wait to see every exhibit!

Love this place will keep coming back. Great memories made and our kids throughly look forward to returning every year

Really was not expecting an excellent zoo, but honestly it was excellent. Been to San Diego, San Antonio, Indianapolis zoos, Houston, and this one is right up there with them. Elephant exhibit and gorilla exhibit are great. It was under construction, I bet it will even be better after that. I highly recommend the seal show!

We decided to spend our last full day of Oklahoma vacay driving the 1.5 hours to Oklahoma City to go to the OKC Zoo. After 4 hours, we decided to leave, disappointed, exhausted, and only seeing about half of the animals that they supposedly had. The map of the zoo did not match the actual layout, as things are on the map that are not finished yet, meaning that trails are not finished either 😒 . There we many areas that we had to back track through, my husband, our toddler, and my 7 month pregnant self. The entry fee was only $11 per adult, and parking was free, which is about the only thing you don't pay for here. Feeding the giraffes, you'll pay extra. Sea lion show, you'll pay extra (oh, btw, they're not on exhibit right now either). Sting rays, you'll pay to pet those. Tram to take you around the zoo, $6 per person, which you'd better pay, other wise you'll wander like Moses in the desert. There's a train, too, which, you guessed it, you'll pay for. The only place to get actual food is at the ENTRANCE, so if you get hungry for lunch, you'll be hoofing it across the entire zoo. The one redeeming quality about the restaurant is that it was real food, for a very decent price. There are parts that are closed, but no signs saying that until you're inside, I'm talking about Aquatica here. Many exhibits have only one or two of the listed animals in it. Others were closed for repairs, or animals just weren't out, which is no fault of the zoo's. Even the children's zoo is spread out and lacking in actual animals. At the barnyard, the barn was closed, they had one donkey, one sheep, and 4 goats. I guess we're spoiled, but we've been to the STL Zoo, Tulsa Zoo, and Omaha Zoo, all of which were much better laid out and had more bang for your buck.

I went to this zoo with my 5 kids when I came back to Oklahoma City for my great aunts 90th birthday party. There was something there for each of them, but to be frank the monkey exhibit was the best. I was expecting the monkeys to be the ones throwing feces but instead my 2 year old was the one making a mess. The staff was very nice a they cleaned up a particularly smelly bowel movement he removed from his diaper. Would recommend this zoo to anyone.

There is a good variety of animals to see. Asia sanctuary is a beautiful area! I love elephants and they had plenty! Be prepared for lots of walking but it is good for exercise and wear comfy shoes.

I have been to a few zoos during my travels, and I must say, that the animal enclosures here are absolutely wonderful. The habitats are most like the area they would live in the wild. I appreciate that, as do the animals.

My family loves to visit zoos when we travel and this is one of the really good ones!
Animals were really close and a very nice assortment .

This place is great for a day outing with family or couples or even just a relaxing day enjoying the animals. Only suggestion would be more guided signs it can be slightly confusing to navigate the grounds.

They were doing construction when we were there so some of the animals weren’t available to be seen! But My kids loved going! We’ll definitely be back!

Zoo was alright. Lots of animals not visible but perhaps that is because it was 60 degrees. Three zoo employees seemed to be following us for the first half of our visit. Not sure if they really were or that was a weird coincidence.

Our OKC zoo is a real treasure! They do such a great job keeping it updated and improving. From young to old, family trip, fun time with teens, or date night...there is so much to see and enjoy. Even the good options are fabulous now!

The OKC is beautiful. Modern, with excellent animal areas. The majority of the zoo has been updated and it is lovely.

Great zoo. Super fun. Playground and splash pad for little kids. Teen lived feeding the giraffe and the sea lion show.

We always enjoy the zoo. A wonderful place to enjoy the sights and sounds of the animals. You cant go wrong here. Walk and enjoy the beauty of the OKC Zoo.

I always have an amazing time at the OKC Zoo. They have a wide variety of animals and exhibits. The only complaint I have is that the food and drink prices are really high. I would highly recommend the OKC Zoo.

We went to zoo with our two you boys. Good layout, not too expensive. Good views of animals. Really enjoyed the 'Oklahoma trail' section

Our zoo is simply amazing! It just keeps getting better and better! We were there this past weekend for the opening of the Asian area. The zoo is clean and the staff are friendly. The animals are well taken care of. Please go and see for yourself! The have wheelchairs and electric scooter and strollers for kids.

We had a wonderful time. Laid back workers with magnificent personalities. When the grandkids are in town, this will be a must see!

A really nice zoo, not the best I've been to but we had fun. The gorillas were entertaining, and my son loved the playgrounds

Maybe it was the time of year, but when I see the name botanical gardens in the heading of a zoo , I expect beautiful landscaping. The entrance was the only thing well manicured . Once you walk around the bin the grass in the cages and along the paths is in desperate need of care. We couldn’t even see the deer due to the tall grass. ALL of the glass viewing windows need cleaning too. The poor hippo , he was trying to lay in a mud puddle that was so dried up only part of him could soak. We love going to zoos but I don’t know if we will return to this one .

We have been to 49 zoos and aquariums. This zoo easily makes the ,our top 10 if not top 5. It is a beautiful zoo, they are doing a great job with Covid protocols, and as a Family that works in veterinary medicine, we feel the care the animals at the Oklahoma City Zoo is outstanding. If you are a jerk to the animals, they will kick you out, which I completely agree with. Ani.al have spacious habitats and some( like or Elvis the Albino Peacock) are free roaming. When we went last time, in February their aquarium was still closed ( which is a great exhibit). Will certainly continue to visit this outstanding zoo. Best exhibits: Elephants, Children's Zoo, and big cats.

The OKC zoo is a hidden gem. The zoo itself is very large, and the exhibits areso interactive and seem to suit the animals so well. We love the Asia exhibit and the Oklahoma Trails. Would highly reccomend to families or adults (drink friendly).

We wanted a place to go to relax, get in a good walk that had something to see. The zoo is the place to be. The variety of plants and animals is getting better. Parts are being upgraded but one still gets to see some animals to watch and be entertained. The kids have some fun areas to play and explore. We get to try out Granny's Porch.

We really enjoyed visiting the OKC Zoo! The exhibits were well done and it was neat to see the animals. A lot to see and experience, well worth a stop when in the area.

OKC Zoo is a definite must see! There are many animals to see and learn about. My family's favorite is the giraffes and going on the lookout.

The zoo is very spread out. Animals are a distance away. I strongly suggest getting a tram ticket. I wasn't sure I wanted to o but was glad I did. They have some animals I haven't seen before as well as some that I have. I enjoyed the variety of "cats" they have. It was great seeing the pride of lions sitting together on a hill. Majestic sight indeed. We will come back in 2023 when all of the remodeling they are doing is expected to be done.

I must preface this with I grew up with the St. Louis Zoo. I have been there countless times and IT IS FREE. Maybe if you have never been to any other zoo, you think it is great. It seems like they are trying, but our family was astounded by the lack of animals/species. It was pretty as it is also a botanical garden, but I wished I would have saved my money and done something else. They are doing construction and adding new exhibits so maybe this will enhance the site.

We have visited several zoos and this is one of the best. Nice assortment of animals. Great for families.

We all enjoyed the OKC zoo !!! A lot of walking as any zoo is but you see something along the way everywhere. Highly recommended :)

This zoo has spacious enclosures for the animals and seems to be very conservation/education oriented. It was a great way for us to spend family time for the day!

I've been to some of the best zoos in the country i used to live in Columbus, Ohio which i believe is in the top 10 of the country. However i have to say this zoo rivals it it was one of the best I've been to in my life it was huge plenty to see and do with several shows for the public. We attended two of those said shows and thoroughly enjoyed them. I highly recommend this zoo and i'm not even a big animal person so that's saying something

It's a cool little zoo. I am a member now. I would say that the membership should be a little cheaper and more flexible. Shouldn't have to name every adult.

Just love this place been there many times and always have a great selection of animals and they're all well cared for you can tell. Great place to take a picnic lunch and enjoy the beautiful animals and the very very nice employees.

This is a beautiful zoo, and easy to get to. Use the map or you will get lost and turned around! Many unique animals. You will enjoy it.

What a wonderful zoo! I went with my family and everyone enjoyed it... so much to do ! Although it was a hot day , we went when it opened up and was able to stay awhile. I do suggest getting the zoo it all pass .. it was worth the money .
We will definitely go again when we return to Oklahoma.

We've been to zoos in several cities, states, and even a couple in Japan and Germany, so we've seen some great ones and some that aren't great at all.
The Oklahoma City Zoo falls toward the top of the list of greats.
The layout is sensible and easy to navigate.
The animal habitats are about as good as they can be, given their multiple purposes -- safety and comfort for the animals, viewing opportunities for visitors, etc.
The enclosures are built so even smaller children can see the animals. Some zoos have high walls that block views, but the OKC Zoo is not one of those.
The crew members at the gate, in the shops, around the animal habitats, and in the food shops were happy and helpful.
There was one thing that seemed a little off, and that was the extremely brief ride that our grandchildren were given on a camel. In my opinion, there's a disconnect between the cost ($6 per child) and the distance of the walk (~150 feet or so; it was just a small circle). At the very least, the walk could be a little longer or the kids could have been allowed to sit on different camels instead of being forced to share just one.
The camel thing is a small factor, of course, but it did make me wary about the other paid attractions, which in turn caused me to avoid all of them except the carousel near the playground.
Oh, that reminds me...the playground by the lake is fantastic!

Things have changed so much since the first time I ever went. But changes for the best. There are always new exhibits and events going on. We try to visit 2 to 3 times a summer. Tram to take you around the large animal exhibits. Always enjoy it.

This was a great zoo. We were there on an incredibly hot day but there were many places to duck inside and into shade. The Lorakeets were adorable. 3 of them decided they liked my jewlery and kept trying to eat it. I had been warned by the staff. They didn't wreck anything. It was just cute. So - if you want them to land on you, wear dangling earings and a necklace.

Parking was free. That's about the only positive. Nothing exotic about the animals in this zoo. Pretty basic selection. Almost felt like they put the bare minimum amount of species into a group so they could say they have an African exhibit, a reptile exhibit, and an aviary exhibit. The "botanical garden" is just flowers planted along the walkways. No signs informing you of the types of plants or any information about them. It was so underwhelming that we asked where the botanical garden was.

I love love love this zoo! They have many different exhibits and lots to do and see. The elephant exhibit is the best! It's not too expensive, so I definitely recommend going!

I was very shocked by how much detail went into this zoo. This Zoo wasn’t as big as what I’m use too but they did an amazing job adding detail to make this Zoo look unique.

The zoo was very nice and we saw most things in three hours. Would definitely recommend bringing food/drink as the lines were nuts. We went early and got lunch on the outside. The zoo is quite reasonable to get in. There are many opportunities to purchase extra experiences. We did the flamingo encounter which was $7 per kid. Not really worth that, but they enjoyed it and it was better use of our money than standing in line for crappy zoo lunch. They have limited tickets, but it was packed on a nice sunny day.

We love zoos, but was a little disappointed. I was expecting a larger zoo with more animals on display. Love how the elephant display was, but other habitats were small

This was a pretty typical zoo. I think the rating would be higher if the Asian pavilion was open; without it, there weren't a lot of animals to view. I was impressed at the number of animal interactions available (around $40 per person), but disappointed in the food and beverage choices (there wasn't much and what was there didn't look appetizing).

Not sure I can add much to the hundreds of reviews but since the last one was four months ago, I thought I would write one.
I loved the zoo. We are huge fans and try to visit a zoo in every city we visit if there is a zoo. This was quite the surprise for us. There were tons of places for kids to stop and play or for families to stop and eat. They have quite a few food options but there are also locations with tables for families to bring a picnic lunch.
Yes, there was still construction going on and a few exhibits were closed because of it, but we still saw most of the animals. The Red Panda wasn’t out and that was a little disappointing because you don’t see those often. The elephant enclosure was large and we loved seeing the younger elephants. We didn’t stop and linger over exhibits very much and we were there about 3.5 hours, so plan accordingly if you have small children and want to stop at the petting zoo or at the various playgrounds.

The OKC Zoo is a terrific asset to the community. The Zoo offers a great selection of animals and programs. Like many zoo's.. the OKC Zoo is a great place to spend an afternoon with the kids. You'll be surprised by how great a facility it is and why its considered one of the country's best.

OKC Zoo is a top ten zoo in the US! It is incredible. Lots of shade. Lots of room for animals with natural habitats. Great annual membership plans!

The 'Zoo-It-All' wristbands are NOT WORTH the extra cost! Just pay as you go along! Otherwise, it was clean, staff was friendly, and the kids had a great time.

My family and I always like to go take a walk at the zoo. They have lots of animals and it’s a really nice time there is a lot of walking because it’s fairly large so wear some good shoes to walk on. They had this boat that we paid to get on to go across the little lake that they had from one side of the zoo to the other that was quite fun and it saved us a long walk. The monkeys are funny and it’s a good zoo very clean everybody’s nice it’s awesome. I would recommend For friends and family and children of all ages just be prepared to walk in make sure you have the correct shoes on. Makes for a great day.

We have a Family Safari pass and with the exception of the last couple weeks we take our son and daughter who are under 5 at least twice a week. Our kids love the zoo as do we. While the zoo has been under different phases of renovation I’ve found it extremely hard to find information on when things open what is moving etc. Some simple signage would go along way. For example walking to the seal lions there is what seems like 2 animals on exhibit and to find out the seal lion was off exhibit with the aquarium being closed(which we knew about from a previous trip) it was a waste of time and made for a grumpy 2 year old. I still give the Zoo a 5 rating because what is too come at the zoo and how much our kids enjoy it, I still recommend it to everyone

This zoo is amazing. Almost all of the animals are out all the time. They just had a birth of an elephant here too. Opportunities to feed the giraffes as well. (cost involved) They are opening a whole new section of the zoo this month.

A great zoo on a sunny day. The animals were easily visible in large, natural habitats. The walking paths are well appointed.

The OKC Zoo is located off I-35 on the northeast side of OKC. The zoo has reasonable admission prices and free, plentiful parking. The zoo has attractive grounds, large animal enclosures, and good views of the animals. The collection of animals is impressive, with the typical zoo residents (lions, tigers, elephants and bears) along with more unusual residents like komodo dragons and African Wild Dogs (very cool animals). The reptile collection is especially impressive, with several very large snakes.
If you are a zoo fan, this is one you should visit.

This zoo is average. Enclosures are small and most animals not visible. Reading the reviews, we entered expecting a world class zoo. We exited realizing we had one in Minnesota.
Another fun visit to the zoo
We visit the zoo at least once a year each time we are in town. Such a cute zoo, we have gone as an adult couple and as a family. Animals are very well looked after and very accessible. We have gone in both summer and winter months.
