Old Town Bluffton is a great place to explore. Very good shopping — good places to buy local art of every type. Go antiquing, look at the lovely old southern architecture. On Thursdays in the Spring and Summer, visit the farmer’s market. Just go — you will not be disappointed.

Love going there. Lovely shops and great restaurants. The Farmers Market is lots of fun. We go there several times a year.

Spent the day in Bluffton seeing the sites and going to the farmers' market. Had a delightful lunch and enjoyed walking among the stalls and sampling the wares.

Many interesting shops and many art galleries too. Just like Bluffton used to be, many stores are from the 70's-90's before the huge expansion took place. Great to walk around the area.

Went to most of the shops and galleries. The Church of the Cross is there. - we visited previously. There are a few restaurants there and a new area of shopping close by the other end of Calhoun Street. Getting more new shops all the time. Worth a visit.

it was great o get to see this quaint little spot! I loved walking around and taking it all in. This historic aspect of Old Town made it more appealing and the little shops were all fantastic! great day for ladies to lunch and shop.

I absolutely love my new home in Bluffton. Old Town Bluffton is an amazing ecclectic artsy town. The shops are filled with friendly smiles and wonderful finds. You can meet some of the local artists throughout the week in various shops.
There are a few public parking lots and on-street parking. I still have to check out the infamous Farmer's market and other shops. But I love my new home in the South.

Walk through the historic town down to the May River and be sure to stop at the Church of the Cross with a wonderful docent telling its story.

What a neat blend of old and new! There are a lot of really old buildings that have been converted to businesses. In the north section of the old downtown there is a renascence of cool new businesses in old style buildings.

I love to park and stroll the streets of Old Town. There are many unique art galleries and shops to browse through. The atmosphere is one of " enjoy life!" While strolling you can spend time sitting on the bank of the May River by Church of the Cross. Take in the salty air! As you continue to stroll down the oak lined streets your visual senses are stirred. Of course this activity may make you thirsty and hungry, so you have many choices. Pearl is my favorite! the cottage has a great lunch and is pet friendly. Calhouns offers a neat outdoor patio with live music. And Gigi's can dress you up for the occasion!

Historic and pleasant for strolling about, eating at nice restaurants, and some shopping. Mostly we just take in the "old days" feel and stroll down towards the river and back.

Hubby and I had date night and went to Old Town to have dinner at Old Town Dispenery!!!
Great food and pricing... awesome atmosphere... loved the live music!!
service was amazing !!!

Spent the morning walking the historic district and newly built sections. The historic district is composed of various houses that are now coop art galleries, restaurants, and small mom and pop shops. All shop proprietors were friendly and offered advice for food and other types of art. The newer section has varied specialty shops and restaurants. A pleasant day of walking from the river to the main street. A "must do" for the area.

The area of old town Bluffton is charming! So many nice restaurants, not only with good food, but friendly servers. The art shops are delightful. I love to park and walk all through the little shops and surrounding streets. It is WELL worth a visit! Make sure to visit on a Thursday for the farmers market.

I enjoyed every minute of our stay in Old and New Town Bluffton SC, Garfield or Hannah are the people to contact for a great tour. Please be ready for a good history lesson of the town along with plenty of laughing cause Garfield has it for you.
You have to love NATURE and the quietness of the town to really appreciate your stay. For pizza and salad lover please stop by NY pizza shop the SALAD is off the chain hostess Andrea you were a great hostess.
We, the Cov and Yvonne will be back Thanks Garfield for the great tour and our stay in Bluffton SC All the way from Prattville, Al we love you

This is an old town that is being renewed and renovated, Ther are a number of old homes, and new replicas. It has a number of restaurants and shops . There is an old oyster factory on the water where you can buy fresh seafood. The same people own a restaurant in town. There is a charming old church and an visitors center.

Though only a few blocks, this is one of those peaceful, slow walking tours around Old Town Bluffton. Churches built before the Civil War, homes built before the 1900s, a variety of art galleries and restaurants, and a view of the May River make a most pleasant half day— or longer. Some spots are fancy, some are plain, all are good and a lot of fun. Coffee on the corner is a good spot to make plans.

So many new restaurants, shops & places to explore when you come to Bluffton! Farmers Market on Thursdays is a great treat of local fare.

Old Town Bluffton has a lot to offer. There are quite a few good restaurants that offer a variety of food choices. I must say just discovered a”quirky” (in a very good way) little donut shop. All donuts are made in house and there’s a variety of delicious offerings.Key Lime,Lemon Meringue and on and on.

Had a great time in Old Town with some friends a few weeks ago love the dispensary and the Promenade area

I like going to Old Town Bluffton. We go to the coffee shop for coffee, dessert, or lunch. There are many, restaurants, including one of my favorites, The Cottage. We go for the farmer's market and the craft fairs. We also enjoy the stores in town. It is a great way to spend an afternoon or evening. I live in Bluffton so we go frequently.

This area is spread out over several blocks. You really need to wander up and down some of the side streets to see the various galleries, stores and restaurants. We were there on a late Sunday morning and some of the stores were not opened. Lots of restaurants offering Sunday brunch and some were very busy. We wandered down to the May River landing which is very pretty overlooking the water. We will be back when more stores are open and to spend time in the various galleries.

You don't order a cup of coffee, you pay first and head to the urn to serve yourself.
A short wait for a table and taking the time to say hello to the guests at Sipping Cow was expected this past Saturday morning. Sipping Cow is one of the many business that helped grow the small town of Bluffton to a "happening" place. My guess in seeing the
residents in and about town that the average age is between 30 and 45. Quite a difference from a few years ago.

Nothing to offer, for a small town, weather is nice, but food not good, only seafood, no one can pour a proper and decent drink at any bar

Parking was easy and many coffee shops and good restaurants. A great place to people watch from outside patios.

What a neat place to visit. Very unique shops and eateries, & art galleries. Casual stroll throughout the whole area is required. Stop in to visit these shops and enjoy southern hospitality.
Go down to the parks on the May River. There are plenty of benches to sit and relax. The view s wonderful!

This charming downtown is vibrant and growing. From art galleries to bistros to weekly Farmers Market, it has so much to offer. Parking can be a problem but it is worth the hassle.

Loved being in a historic and vibrant truly southern coastal town. I look forward to visiting when I can stay longer.

Kind of tourist trap. Town offers nothing except a nice walk around on a pretty day. Could be a lot more but needs someone to help them along.

A little bit of everything for everyone in Old Town Bluffton. Be sure to stop into the Bluffton General Store and Lettrs.

We enjoyed our Bluffton Jack Old Town Tour around Halloween. He was very entertaining and provided us with a lot of Bluffton history and tails.

During the day, there are lots of interesting shops and restaurants. At night, it's a great place to have dinner or bar hop.

It's like going back in time. Small, quaint historic town. Narrow streets lined with cute shops and restaurants. A breath of fresh air.

Quaint little area with fun little shops, the general store is not a general store like you would think, it is a great little store with candles, jewelry and fun nice things. A lot of galleries. and a few places to eat. Nice way to spend a few hours.

Check out the Old Town Dispensary for low country delights such as shrimp & grits. YUM! Quaint historic bar and restaurant that offers good service, delicious food, and "come on in" hospitality.

Nice artsy places to shop and a nice farmers market on Thursdays open from noon to 4pm. Very fun place to explore. Highly recommend it!

We enjoyed old town and especially the Church of the Cross. What a unique opportunity to view inside and out this remarkable facility.

It was a cloudy day, perfect for walking. Thursday is farmers market. There was baked goods, produce, and food to eat there. Also there was a man playing and singing. We walked all over the old town into shops and art galleries. You can also go to the river. Great time exploring.

Small, old style buildings in a compact area. Huge variety of artsy stores, shops, dining, and bars. Even has a little New Orleans French Quarter feel to it. This is a shopper's Nirvana of sorts. Worth a visit if you are in the vicinity.

"Bluffton is a state of mind" is their motto. They have a street named "State of Mind"! Artsy, quirky, fun, friendly, great shopping, great restaurants...and ladies, don't miss my favorite store, Eggs n' tricities!

Very nice vintage town. We stay in Hilton Head every year and old town Bluffton is a short 1/2 hour drive. We like to go early and grab breakfast at the Corner Perk and then walk around town and tak ein the sights. The Church of the Cross is a must see, right on the May River.

Old Town Bluffton is a great place to walk around and enjoy the many shops, restaurants and coffee places, and the really nice pier where you can walk right up to the water! Great for families and couples as well!

Small, walkable town with lots of art galleries and cute shops, as well as plenty of restaurants. Seems like this town is going through a renaissance and growing quickly. Would love to retire here, but it may be too built up before then. Fun to visit and explore. Definitely check out Mudd Pluff Gallery where various local artists' works (pottery, paintings, photographs, woodworking) are displayed. Would love to come back for their art and seafood festival sometime to explore more.

A very quaint and quiet town to visit...It was a nice day trip while staying in Hilton Head to walk around and see small shops, restaurants and historic homes. Very enjoyable.

There is a lot packed into this small town. Good places to eat and fun shops to look in. IF they are having a festival..it's even more fun. Try the Bluffton Seafood House. One of our favorite places to stop in.

I have lived in this community for almost 30 years and I could never have dreamed it would grow into the coolest place to live in SC!

We were excited to venture into Old Town Bluffton because we knew of all of the art galleries + wonderful restaurants. We didn't get to take advantage of any of it because there was no place to park. Bluffton needs a parking structure.

Here’s a little town that has maintained its charm while adapting to changing times. Fun things to do nice events, good restaurants and a focus on history. Be sure to do the farmers market on thursdays.

this is an easy review because Old Town Bluffton is one of the main reasons we moved here! Old homes, shops, artist galleries and dining establishments combine to make this a must visit. The buildings are, for the most part, old and quaint yet the businesses are new and hip. At this point, Old Town has a good variety of restaurants with new ones opening as I type! The newer section, The Promenade, has a newer village feel with shops on the street level and apartments up above. Old Town is also a mecca for artists and the talent if overflowing! Come to the Farmer's market on Thursday's!!!

I was just saying to my husband, driving thru Old Town at night - it’s all lit up, the Town has done a great job with sidewalk lights all along 46. I’ve never not met a Millennial that doesn’t like the food, and drink action in Old Town. We do need more family parks and playgrounds and it hosts the Farmers Market on Thursday’s which needs music and more food vendors. It’s growing with more new office buildings and residential areas. It’s developing. I think there were like 4 or 7 buildings left in Bluffton right after the Civil War.

Nice little hidden gem on the coast! Neat shops and local restaurants. Worth a day's visit. Take the time to see the old church down on the river.

Growing up in South Carolina I was not familiar with the town of Bluffton. It is a short drive from Hilton Head. There are shops and restaurants here so there are things to do here.
Bluffton is a small town with a lot of character.

Old Town Bluffton is one of the destinations you must visit. Spend a little money by shopping at the cool businesses they have. Also, the food is delicious with variety. You won’t be disappointed. The promenade is a lot of fun as well.

We rode around the city. Beautiful architecture! And the Spanish moss added to the charm. Glad they must have a code on the building to keep it like a true southern city!

Love Bluffton so much. Old and new parts are great. Food and shops, art studios, and coffee shop, Thursday Farmer's Market, dock on the May River, churches, historic homes, all with live oaks dripping with Spanish moss.

The old town of Bluffton has many interesting spots to casually spend a couple hours with several great places to dine. One should look not only for the old section of the town but the newly occupied area presenting a modern look to the past. A prefect setting for a little walk, shopping and a bite to eat!

During our Travels of the US, Old Towns are a magnet for us, and for many other History-minded Travelers.
We have been Travelers to Old Town Bluffton for decades, and are encouraged by the efforts of the City Fathers (and Mothers.)
Old Town Bluffton is a dynamic center of Bluffton, SC in 2018.
Old Town Bluffton is an economic investment, that will continue to pay dividends.
We specially enjoy the gardens and landscaping of Old Town Bluffton during our two-week Hilton Head Spring Break.

Old town Bluffton has a small town feel with lots to do. City center has music, great restaurants and shops to browse.

Bluffton is considered the last "Coastal Village" of the Lowcountry as it is situated on the May River that flows into the Atlantic Ocean. It is a fun town full of surprises, Gullah culture, great restaurants, shops amidst beautiful palms and grand live oaks.

For all the hype I expected more. A few galleries, a few restaurants, and some odds and ends places here and there. The people are fabulous though. Genuinely nice. Everything closes up by 5pm so do keep that in mind when visiting.

I love the Farmer's Market at Bluffton! Many vendors and great entertainers plus shops and restaurants.

Love old town - the feeling of a town from days ago (truly). All the little houses that line the main drag are now little shops, galleries, etc. some shops are co-op galleries with local art, a great little pottery shop where the guy literally has a sign that says to pick what you like and leave the money in a bowl, and a couple great restaurants (the cottage is one of my faves).
Probably a little boring for young ones, but it's a relaxing break to stroll around. There's a farmers market once a week too.

This is a cute little town to stroll through to check out the many gallery's, arts & crafts and clothing shops. Remember to check out the shops decks, yards, etc. because they have lots of art everywhere. The shop owners/artist are friendly and love to share info about their work. Also, there are plenty of great places to stop, rest, and grab a drink or bite to eat along the way.

Nice shops and restaurants. Old Town Inn very nice. Very walkable. City Square recreated. Houses with shops. Not historic but built to look so.

A must see if you have an interest in the old South. The place is in the process of upgrading for easy access and casual walking. Plenty of eating choices as well as historical landmarks.

We weren't able to spend as much time in Old Town Bluffton as we would have liked, but we are looking forward to making a trip back there. This isn't, by any means, an urban area with every conceivable offering. But the small shops and eateries are charming and they have the authentic character of the small Coastal community where they are located.

Spent the day going in and out of the Art Galleries and Boutiques in Bluffton, took a walk down to the river and just enjoyed the day in the quaint little town. Did not stay for dinner but some of the restaurants looked really good.

This small town is friendly and a pleasure to walk around. There are several good places to eat. And tons of small shops, great place to get local art work

Old Town Bluffton continues to improve and the city is doing a good job in developing a better blue print for the area. I read some of the more negative reviews, and I guess I can understand some disappointment for some who said it didn’t live up to the “hype.” I’ve never known this part of town to be described in such a manner and can’t imagine what these visitors were expecting. For an afternoon stop, this place has its charms. It’s extremely walkable, and some of the merchants and restaurants were built within a town square design. For such a small “village” the amount of eateries are numerous - From higher end restaurants like FARM, The Bluffton Room, The Pearl Kitchen & Bar to more moderate priced ones like, Fat Patties, The Cottage, Local Pie and Agave. For excellent coffee or breakfast there is the Sippin Cow and the Corner Perk. Just a short drive out from the center, the newly relocated Downtown Deli has exceptional sandwiches and other lunch time fare. There are more than a half dozen others that I haven’t even mentioned. The Farmer’s Market on Thursday’s continues to be a fun event to attend. Of course in certain months, the vendors will be limited but It’s still a fun way to enjoy an afternoon and sample some crab dip, soup, crab cakes, bbq, fresh pasta, chocolates, breads, pot stickers all while listening to a local musician or band.
The Church of the Cross is a unique structure perched on the banks of the May River. The grounds are stunningly gorgeous and certainly worth a visit. A walk down the public dock will get you a better glimpse of the waterway and even offer up an opportunity to see our resident dolphins cavorting in the distance. The Bluff Oyster Factory Park is a recent addition and a wonderful venue for the numerous events Bluffton holds. It also sits on the banks of the May River not far from an active seafood market and oyster shucking facility. The little gems of Old Town Bluffton are there. You just have to hold no preconceived notions that this will be like a Savannah or a Beaufort. It’s not. But it has its unique characteristics and important notes in history.

My friends and I always enjoy our visit to Old town Bluffton. The shopping is wonderful and there is ample parking. The Thursday Farmer's Market always draws a crowd and there are wonderful places to eat.

Every Thursday on Calhoun street they close the street and have a farmers market. Lots of art galleries including the amazing Ben Ham gallery on Bluffton Rd. Large format photographer. Many things to see and eat!!!

Great place to wander in and out of eclectic shops! Nice restaurants too. Friendly people and free parking.

A Walk around Old town Bluffton is very enjoyable. Historic sites, shops, restaurants, art galleries and beautiful views. Nice way to spend the day.

I moved here from the north east. It is very dull. There are no cool places that are for attractive, dressed up people that enjoy fine dining. It is a safe, very affluent and color less place. No body dresses up or gets their hair done. People say that it is beautiful. It is snooty and it is simply a swamp.

Beautifully located on Old Town Bluffton. One of the highlights of the week. Open every Thursday we sampled some amazing local fare while browsing through locally owned boutiques.

Very nice old town atmosphere. Lots of places to eat. Lots of art boutiques. Make sure you get there early in the day as parking is hard to come by.

The Bluffton Oyster Factory Park in Old Town Bluffton / on Wharf St. is a great place for sunset chasers.

Many shops and all are different. We about walked our legs off trying to stop in every shop.We also took a tour around in a golf cart. The young lady [Hanna] was very informative. We really enjoyed it all.

Recommended by the hotel staff we were at Old Bluffton is an artsy community. Grounded by a lively town square, there is a blend of restaurants, art galleries and local history. Thursdays there is a Farmer's Market where you can grab some great baked goods, listen to music and get a feel for the area.

Wow!! What a hidden gem of many businesses coming alive in old town charm!!
Had delightful dining experience at the Farm Restaurant! Seasonal gourmet lunch and dinner by dedicated people with local food.
Must stop and see this amazing small town vibe!!

Built with apparently little or no thought as to where patrons were to park, Old Town Bluffton is basically somewhere to spend money. If you don't mind walking down Hwy 46, there is parking in the complex across from the Post Office. As more and more buildings are going up in that complex, don't know how long parking will be available there. It's a bit of a stretch though for less mobile people or those who don't enjoy walking to parking late at night.
The real old town Bluffton was an eccentric and eclectic blend of homes, shops, churches, gas station, etc. It was varied and fun. New Old Town Bluffton is a group of newly constructed buildings with an eye to the stereotypical idea of what the South looked like.
There are some good places to eat in Old Town and some cute shops and businesses. I imagine it is meant to be a "main street" for Bluffton but it doesn't have the charm and variety of a real main street.

If you want a relaxing day good place to a walk. Great local shops and restaurants. Free parking as well. Not very big area but relaxing.

This is a charming small little town filled with interesting galleries and beautiful streets to explore. Not much to “do” but that’s part of the charm.

We enjoy the Bluffton Parkway Flyover, and have for a year plus. While nearby Beaufort may be a simpler version of Charleston; Old Bluffton may be a simpler version of Beaufort. In either case, real estate values have risen sharply.
We enjoy our visits to Old Town Bluffton, Farmer’s market or not.
Bluffton Old Town dining is very inviting.
Bluffton is a very dynamic South Carolina community.

My husband and I moved to Bluffton SC last fall. We were excited about the area as a whole, but when we drove through Old Town Bluffton, we fell hard for our new little home town area. Every Thursday we have a farmers market and we also have many festivals throughout the year. We love eating at all the delicious restaurants in Old Town and visiting the many, many little shops along Calhoun St. We basically decorated the majority of our new home with items purchased in Old Town Bluffton. The architecture, landscaping and trees are all breathtaking. We could not be happier to live here.

There is a lot of clean up and reconstruction happening here. There is a lovely old church with beautiful grounds down along the river. A few quaint shops scatteted throughout. I look forward to returning nect year.

Small shops, historic buildings, a few dining destinations
Friendly people, area seems committed to historic preservation - some public parking areas

Old Town makes a nice change to the strip malls and gated, cookie cutter communities of Bluffton. But, it's just a very small town with not a lot there. There are a few good casual places for lunch or dinner, a few quirky stores, a handful of historic homes, a nice old church and not a lot else.
It's worth a (quick) visit but not much else.

Any visit to the South Carolina Lowcountry should include a stop in Bluffton's old town. Food, festivals and art are found in abundance. Enjoy the slow pace if life on the banks of the May River. They have gone upscale in the newly developed Promenade.

Love Old Town Bluffton. Very quaint, great restaurants, live music, fun shopping. "Progress" has arrived and it is changing quickly. Our little town is disappearing. Come enjoy it before it is gone!

Charming, interesting, educational. Just some adjectives to describe Old Town Bluffton. Have been going there for years while winter vacationing and now a new resident continue to visit Old Town.
A wonderful place any day, but particularly on Thursday when visiting the Farmer's Market. Enjoy some great bread, produce and other treats.
Great place to spend several hours visiting the numerous craft and arts establishments. And, don't forget to visit the Potter" (the "mayor" of Old Town).
Great place to be...............

WE saw the Old Town Bluffton by driving through slowly and stopping at the Church of the Cross. Our guide at Rose Hill spoke of Bluffton so we went to search it out.

Visited the Storybook shop, farmers market, Corner Perk and Ben and Jerrys! Every stop awesome service, friendly smiles and pride in the town. This is a special place!

This historic town offers many shops, art galleries and various choices of restaurants, from casual to upscale. This is a must see for any visitor and for locals, they are lucky to be so close to a great place to visit! I look forward to making Old Town Bluffton a regular stop.

Old Town Bluffton is a quaint town with some great restaurants. There are also cute little shops up and down Calhoun Street that display some fine art and craft work.

Old town Bluffton is probably overstated. There are a few houses to look at as you cruise up and back the main drag.

Bluffton has built a little but fun downtown area with shops, restaurants and artist colony. Parking can be a challenge but the choices are diverse. Pizza, farm fresh health, ice cream, bar, etc is within a small walk. This is the center of fairs and public gatherings.

We visited Old Town Bluffton both nights we were in town. Be aware, if you are a night life person - things shut down pretty early. We also had a tough time finding a Lyft/Uber back around midnight when everything was shutting down. Other than that, everything is easily accessible and there are lots of spots to check out with outdoor seating.

Loved this town. Ample parking, cute shops, lots of restaurants.
We drove around checking out the neighborhoods, drove down to water area by the church.
Spend a few hours here.
There is a public restroom by the park and clean-which is a must for me.

We were here for a Brother Brother golf tournament so while our brother husbands played for 3 days we went exploring. Loved Bluffton, very quaint and friendly, we had our dogs with us and they as well were welcomed into all the stores, we elected not to go into stores with breakables!
Fun boutiques lucked into some good sales. Great lunch and dinners!

I love to go there myself and love to take visitors there too. Great restaurants plus interesting & unique shopping. Quite a few festivals, art walks, etc. l particularly enjoy the galleries. Many artists who live in or visit our beautiful Lowcountry exhibit in Old Town. The Bluffton Farmers Market is held Thurs afternoons. (I went yesterday with a visitor. I had no intention of purchasing anything, but the local produce, breads & honey looked SO good I just couldn’t pass them up. The strawberries looked great and tasted wonderful!)
Parking can be tight but not enough to keep me away.

a real enjoyable small-southern-town-center in a booming area. Every other review captures it perfectly. If you bored of I-95 get off SC exit 8, 9 miles to OLD TOWN BLUFFTON and spend a while meandering the shaded streets with local cute shops and relaxed little eateries.

Lived in Bluffton for 7 years and enjoyed visiting the Old Town for all the unique shops and local restaurants. There are many of the older homes that have been restored and no better place in the area to watch the sunset than at the end of Calhoun St adjacent to the Church of the Cross.

We spent a wonderful afternoon visiting the shops and art galleries. Lunch at The Cottage was wonderful and the atmosphere inviting. We purchased two beautiful paintings by Mary Lester from Pluff Mudd Art. The staff at The Garden Gate Nursery was lovely and we found a fabulous decorative planter to take home to memorialize our first trip to Old Town Bluffton. The Church of the Cross was one a very few buildings, we were told, that survived the fires during The Civil War. It is very picturesque!

The improvements that have been made to this center of town over the past 19 years are truly amazing. Wonderful place for a stroll. The old southern architecture has been retained in the new buildings. Only wish there was a better solution for parking, but just keep driving around. One will open up!!

Very charming town with good music and food. Folks on golf carts pull up but there's ample street parking. Shops are open during the day,

This is a great walking around town with something for everyone. Lovely restaurants and shops to explore . Every Thursday afternoon the Farmer’s market appears with fruits, vegetables and local offerings of honey etc.
Well worth the time and experience.

Similar to other small old towns with a history. Historic places. Pretty. On the beautiful river.
Small cute shops and restaurants. Park and walk around.
Great for families. About 30-45 min
drive from Hilton Head Island.
About 35 min off route 95.
Farmers market is there every Thursday all year minus 1 winter month.

We were staying in Hilton Head and decided to take a ride to Bluffton on a rainy day, What a cute little town with restaurants, shops and art galleries . We had no issue finding on street parking (although I am sure it is difficult in the summer) and spent the day walking the town, having lunch and enjoying the art galleries. Definitely worth a few hours on your way in or out of Hilton Head.

Visiting Hilton Head this is a close option for an afternoon drive an stroll. A lot of Low Country history mixed in with cute shops if that is your thing. The Old town is very walkable from the bay to the highway. Definitely add to your itinerary if you are close.

Delightful old town to explore! Had an exceptionally nice visit at Cyrus Garvey-Garvin House and at the African Methodist Episcopal church. Experienced southern hospitality at its best as docents and locals shared their experiences and stories. A truly memorable day.

Love the Southern Charm of this beautiful Town. The people are very friendly. The food is fantastic. They have outdoor functions that make you feel as though you belong. If you're ever in the area, i suggest you visit here.

I had an enjoyable walk around town. Loved the old buildings, lush landscape, and little galleries. I also visited the farmer's market, but they were just getting set up. They are there on Thursdays starting at 1 P.M.

Small town feel and friendliness so it did not feel like a tourist trap. I knew I was in trouble when I saw the gallery line up. Yes, my wife bought something.

Old town Bluffton is a wonderful place to walk around and sample food and drinks from all of the wonderful offerings. There are many art galleries and unique businesses that make this part of Bluffton a great destination.

Great shops, restaurants, and site seeing! Always love this community. The area has grown....unfortunately but it is still a favorite visit when we come to the HH area! Charming!

I was expecting more then just the same high price novelty stores. There is a lot more to do and see in Savannah. Very limited information on it’s history. If you like tasteless expensive food you will find it in several locations. I was there on a Thursday when the farmers market was in operation. Limited variety of items and the vendors were not friendly. The area appeared to be over developed, lacking charm.

I'm a little biased because I'm lucky enough to live in Bluffton. Charming, unique, and a little special. A beautiful little gem of a town. Great restaurants. The people are so nice!!

Bluffton is such a quaint little town. The homes have all the southern charm you expect. Lots of art galleries and cafes, and small shops.

We just spent a few hours exploring Calhoun Street in Old Town Bluffton. Started at The Church of the Cross and had a informative docent tour. Next we headed to the art galleries and shops. A fun time included a great lunch at The Cottage.

Such a great place, sweet Old Town Bluffton is. You’ll find cute art galleries, eateries fancy and funky, festivals and farm fresh markets and bars to boot.

but it still maintains the charm and elegance that have bringing visitors here for decades to sit on the bluff above the may river, and water ski, boat, swim. scott's has undergone the most change sit is now a real grocery. the red dot package liquor store has seen better days but still stand next door to scott smack dab on the side of the road. old cottages and house abound and newer residences creep into the mix too. its guaranteed to take 10 points off your blood pressure just riding by.

Great to see a community that has the forethought and vision to keep a sense of history. We enjoyed our visit to Bluffton today and will return

Very quaint historical village off the main drag with great restaurants and a nice vibe. Easy to stroll along the streets or drive around just looking at the homes and river. Very dig friendly

My wife and I have been to Old Towne Bluffton and loved it. We meet some friends at Woodys and had some refreshments, my friends are from Seabrook Island and was very impressed with Old Towne Bluffton. So much History and many eateries to choose from all the ingredients for a good time.

A quaint little village with shops and restaurants situated in a square. A very hospitable and friendly place to spend an hour or so.

Nice place to visit, easy walking to many art galleries, shops, restaurants, antiques. Parking isn't really bad, just don't try to park on the main street, there is a gravel parking lot that is underused.

Walking around the town brought me back to how it was 100 years ago. All historical homes. old 100 year old trees beautiful quaint shops . A great view of the May river. The people are very nice. This is a place to go if you want to get away from a big city. I recommend Old town Bluffton.

Visited Bluffton this holiday and found an old low country town on the Harbour River.
A beautiful wooden church overlooked the river with some, for the USA very old original timber houses on the main street. Many date from the 1830s. There are a number of art galleries to visit with local gullah work and a fair number of restaurants catering for all tastes. A very nice place to spend a few hours before heading off to Pinkney Island National Wildlife Refuge, an absolute must for bird watchers.

Lots of restaurants, bars and shopping in a walkable square. It’s a super casual place where locals and tourists come together. A great new wine bar just opened.

We so enjoyed strolling through the town and also taking part in the farmer's market. People there are so warm and friendly.

The marketing hype is really overrated. Just an old town slightly modernized for appearance. Nothing but a big tourist trap.

This is an amazing town with cute little shops and yummy restaurants. Nice to walk around and easy to find parking

The Storybook Shoppe is a super cool bookstore and very kids friendly. Ms. Sally is super knowledgeable in what stages books to suggest. Fantastic selection of books for girls and boys. We are thrilled to have just stopped in.

Great place to walk and shop and eat lunch or dinner. Many places to pick from for dinning. Great places to eat with great food.

Quaint and historic in style, good stop on way to Hilton Head. Area restaurants are excellent and varied. Unique shops to browse in. A good way to spend several hours by foot, enjoying the old southern style!

Love walking thru this small town with lots of charm Interesting shops and great places to eat. Thursday is the farmers market , love getting fresh food!! If you are lucky you might be able to go to some of their festivals which is so much fun! Don't drive by stop and take the time to walk thru.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Old Town Bluffton. It has interesting shops most notably the Spartina flaghip with it's amazing purses, clothes and matching accessories. We stoped by the ice cream parlour, ribbon shop and several others. Love the old streets and super huge live oaks.

Old Bluffton Town is still rustic, it has been renovated so you can get a good feel for the way things used to be in Colonial days and later. Many nice shops, one could easily spend a day here exploring.

Sweet little town with loads of southern charm. Wonderful restaurants, boutiques and galleries with local arts works!

Old Town Bluffton is a unique and charming place to visit and dine. Quirky and quaint shops line the streets with merchandise to match. Great place to stroll and have a meal.

Read that the farmers market on Thursdays was special..we arrived at 11 and saw tents setting up closer to noon..wasn't sure what to expect but there were about 12 tents with local produce and other local wares.took about 15 minutes to walk through. We had a great lunch at the Cottage cafe and bakery, but I suggest saving lunch for some of the specialty foods at the farmers market. There were other cute shops and eateries but not sure I would make this a destination.

Quaint town with lots to look at . Very enjoyable experience. Cute shops for people of all ages. We try to stop here every time we go to Hilton Head. Not far from the beach, about 40 minutes.

We visited Old Town Bluffton several times during our one month stay in Beaufort. Old Town Bluffton has several restaurants and bars but does not seem to have the charm that some other SC cities have. The people we met here didn’t seem to have a SC culture as most of them were from other states. Nice place to walk around to have something to eat and drink.

Many interesting shops, including local artists plus wide range of dining options. End with a walk down to the river to enjoy the view. Beauty at its finest!

It's a very charming area, I love the historic buildings that have been made into shops and restaurants.

We traveled to old town for a festival and discovered they had several vendors all with nice items. They had local artists, food vendors, clothing and other items for sale. It was a nice way to spend a beautiful sunny day and get some good food from local cooks.

This is small town Americana at its best. Quaint homes, shaded streets, small boutiques. Loved it and want to go back and spend far more time than just the hour we had.

Go on Thursday — great farmers market on the streets. Quaint shops, the wife loved the clothing shops and interior decor shops too. Lots of little restaurants too.

Charm personified. Great shopping, food and drink with A+ atmosphere.....then, there’s the idyllic May River just steps away.

After leaving lunch in Hilton Head, we headed for Old Town Bluffton, SC. We got out and walked around the western side of the main road, but missed the entire eastern side of the main road. We drove down, but didn't get out. We will definitely be back when it is less crowded

Find a place to park and take a walk, lots of little shops for all kinds of items. You can find a little bit of everything, from yard sale items to fine art.Take your time and enjoy your walk, make sure you go down to the river.

when we visit family on HH we always make our way to the Bluffton Farmers Market. it always is a fun exciting time for the kids and a delicious find for eating and merriment.

A lot of small "Mom and Pop" stores with the charm of the South. Within five miles of Hilton Head
it allows one time to re-visit a past era, while being close to modern conveniences. We really loved
the nuances and the great selection of good restaurants.

Very authentic small southern town, not a tourist trap. Good variety of dinning to choose from, and good quality. Plenty of shops to see, artist a plenty. The farmers market was a great find. Take the time to drive into Palmetto Bluff, if you are in Bluffton. Amazing community, hidden off the main road. Easy ride to Savannah from Bluffton.

A great way to spend an afternoon or evening walking around town window shopping, viewing artwork or antiques, or have a drink or meal at one of the great variety of F&B establishments.

Old Town Bluffton ain't so old. Not a complaint, more an observation. There is a large number and variety of restaurants offering anywhere from pizza to Seafood, to ice cream to fine dining. While we got lucky the night we went, I can parking being a challenge during the busy hours.

This area of town has really improved over the years. They've done a lot of Streetscaping, added parallel parking, have new shops and restaurants and so much more. From casual dining at Captain Woody's to elegant dining at the Bluffton Room or made from local at the Farm there's great food.
Check out the Farmers Market on Thursday afternoons - ranked one of the best in the country.
Old Town has many festivals - from the Taste of Bluffton to Arts and Seafood and a great, very unique Christmas parade.

I live in Bluffton and this is one of the greatest towns in the South .Quaint and still old south . Friendliest people you can meet and I am one of them .Great food and all in walking distanse to have a great time .

Walked all around Bluffton Old Town and enjoyed seeing the old houses. I wish there was some more info on some of the house like 7 Oaks. But very enjoyable to see some old history.

Lots of history, interesting shops, artist co-ops, antique shops, restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops. Easy to walk around the area. There’s also a large dock along the nearby river area. Spend a few hours or a few days - lots to see and do! About 12 mi from Hilton Head.

Lots of old shops and history...people we met were very friendly. Lot of choices for eating...we ate at Captain Woodys...great meal.

When we visit Hilton Head one of my favorite destinations is Bluffton. It is a short drive but worth every minute. The galleries and gift shops are a delight. Walking down the street is always interesting and fun expecting what might be next. I’m sure you too will enjoy your visit.

This is a great small town to visit especially during one of the many festivals that occur during the year. It has a lot of cute restaurants in some of the old buildings and also some very upscale places like the Buffton Room which is awesome! If you're in the mood for fried seafood, Captain Woody's is a good choice with live music on the weekends. The problem is lack of parking. There is valet parking in front of Captain Woody's but be prepared to walk if you don't valet

We love visiting Bluffton whenever we visit Charleston. There are always things going on in town and it is fun to talk about the different movies filmed there. Taking a town tour is a must the first time visiting and maybe even every couple years to remind you of what is happening and has happened. Halloween is a great time to visit the downtown for the parade and kids going door to door to the various businesses.

Seems to be all about the art galleries. Nice walk down to the waterfront, lots of restaurants to pick from and shops again most of those are art galleries.

If you are in the area, old town Bluffton is a must. The shops and art galleries are interesting and there are several dining choices. My fav shop, Reminence, sells soaps, gourmet food, wonderful creams, etc. The atmosphere of Old Town is truly charming and makes for a great side trip or afternoon out away from the beach. Also, don't miss seeing the Church of the Cross at the end of the street.

Chistmas time a great time! Lots of fun places to shop and sit and people watch! 70° and with the hustle and bustle of rh e holidays, nice time to visit the south where everything is ...a little ...slower!

We found this great “village” a couple of years ago.
There are many artists and restaurant choices.
Plan on walking a bit to see the Old and New “old town Bluffton”.

There were several cool shops to visit to include local artist. I purchased a neat piece of pottery there. Shops were relatively close together, so you could park and then walk around the town. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming.

Old Town Bluffton is a quaint little town that is slowly building, remodeling and revitalizing the downtown area. Old shops and houses are remodeled to open their doors as art galleries, shops, restaurants and local services. They retain the charm of days gone by but offer things like local art, local services, local food and local products. I've shopped and eaten at several of these places and still find myself wanting to go back for more. This is the town where tourists mingle with locals, buying fresh watermelons and cantaloupe out of the back of a farmers truck. Drivers still stop at crosswalks to let you across the street, and patrons actually hold the door open for you to enter. It's a great town, parking is tight, so be prepared to park and walk to your destination but rest assured there are lots of sights to see along the way. I can't wait to go back!

When my wife and I moved to Bluffton thirteen years ago, Old Town was a quaint throwback to a bygone era. To say there have been some changes would be a gross understatement. Today Old Town Bluffton is replete with good restaurants, pubs, boutiques, art galleries, and numerous events. With all this change somehow the town has been able to maintain its southern charm. Next time you are in the Hilton Head area stop by Old Town Bluffton, I think you will like what you see.

My husband and I heard there was a food festival. We strolled the streets and look at all the art people had. We had lobster rolls that were out of this world. The town is cute and has so much charm. We want to come back and explore on a less crowded day.

Was looking forward to visiting Old Town while in the area. Once we found it I was rather disappointed, a few gift shops that you can see anywhere, A couple nice art galleries. Walked down to the boat launch and had lunch at a local BBQ that was good. No real reason to visit again. I do wish we had visited when the farmers market was running, might have been better.

The art district, which is mainly Calhoun Street from the Promenade to the May River, is fabulous. Antique shops, galleries, food, shopping, and Thursdays there is a farmers market. The Arts and Seafood Festival in October is a must see and do. Great art, wonderful food.

Cute small town that was probably quite thriving when it was settled.
I was hoping to see more of the old charm then it now presents. Several shops and restaurants occupy the original charming cottages and homes of historical days, however, as most coastal towns now, it has fallen to development and over priced boutiques.
The promenade does not blend in to the charm of Calhoun Street and has added chaos in regards to parking.
The Church of the Cross remains it's focal point, I suppose. And that made the trip worth it.
One and done.

Miss the small town feel. Still love the church views! The Family Oyster Restaurant still the best! Don't miss it.

A wonderful place to spend a morning. Our day was blustery but sunny. We stopped by two museum houses with a very friendly docent. A map describes the historically significant houses, many of which survived the burning by Union troops in 1863. There is a small farmers market every Thursday morning that includes Hank's Low Country She Crab Soup, the iconic dish of the low country and Hanks does it extremely well with more crab than broth!

Delightful small town feel. Lots of art galleries, unique shops and great restaurants. Really worth a visit!

This historic town is going through a revival! There are many nice updates that make Bluffton Beautiful. There are sidewalks and other updates that really make this town pretty. There are also new shoppes and restaurants that are awesome! The Oldtown Deli moved and it is awesome! You can actually take cooking classes there or have a party there. Farm is delicious but make reservations. Cahills is my favorite.

Not much here. A little history. Very casual with no upscale dining. I would rather drive another 40 minutes over to Beaufort. The have a lot of there restaurants right on the water. The walk along the river is great.

We visited a number of cute shops with really friendly staff, walked to two different public waterfronts while viewing historical buildings along the way, and had a delicious lunch on an upstairs balcony overlooking a main street with many more shops.

Old town Bluffton is a one square mile area along Calhoun Street. The town of Bluffton was first settled in 1728, founded in 1852 and incurred major destruction during the Civil War. Eight antibellum houses and two churches survive from before the Civil War. The town has done a good job of blending the old with new construction to create a pleasant, unified atmosphere. With unique galleries, a mix of dining options and charming tree lining streets Bluffton is a place to spend a pleasant day.

Free parking and plenty of it. This little town is so charming and picturesque on the May River. Loved browsing in the art galleries and shops. Even the newer buildings are built to look old. Watch your speed though as the cops are always running radar.

Old Town Bluffton is beautiful and well worth the trip if you’re staying on Hilton Head. Nice little shops. Go during the Farmers Market on Thursdays and add even more fun to your afternoon.

We visit every year when we vacation at HHI. Each year Bluffton has more cute shops and restaurants that pop up. So laid back and unique. The hubs loves the cigar shop and I love The Cottage! Thanks Bluffton for such a cute get away. Can’t wait to see what is new next year!

This is a quaint and lovely little town that's growing in giant leaps & bounds. Lots of good restraunts, vintage stores, and consignment shops. It is loaded with art galleries on Calhoun street. It has a lot of history for folks who like history. Church of the Cross is a beautiful historical site. My favorite spot is a little European bakery on May River Road called Twisted. It's a Traditional style bakery with lots of fresh baked goods. Sitting on their porch with a Latte' and Strudel is like a piece of heaven.

This is a beautiful town with moss adorning all the trees. Lots of art shops all within walking distance. Wear your walking shoes and enjoy strolling through this unique beautiful old town.

Good day trip, lots of small shops, many places to eat, good to spend a half day or longer. 3 hour free parking on the street with lots of parking.

Bluffton has a lovely historic district and some interesting ongoing restoration efforts happening. Lovely shops, good food and very walkable.

We love it in Old Town Bluffton! You can go kayaking, grab a bite to eat, take a afternoon stroll, or just sit on a bench and people watch! Old Town is located centrally to Hiltonhead Island, yet close enough to Savannah GA. There are so many vacation rentals, bike trails, state parks, waterways, restaurants, and historic places to go. Also the fishing at the oyster factory or Alljoy boat landing. So many places to put your boat in and you can even watch the dolphins on a good day! There is so many hidden private neighborhoods and Pallmetto Bluff is right down the street. No matter what you do in Old Town you are sure to have a good time in a great place. You can’t beat that beautiful Bluffton breeze!

the parking was retro style, with a country feel. the food was locally caught, fresh, and delicious.

My husband and I just adore the quaint town of Bluffton, SC. With a mix of old meets new, this town has adopted the perfect small town planning to adapt to the 21st century. Located on the Maye River, the town offers outdoor activities, great restaurants, quaint shops and more. A hidden gem in the South!

This is definately worth a trip if you are vacationing on Hilton Head. Take a day away from the beach and stroll down the streets of Old Town Bluffton, visit the many shops, art galleries and cafes.

We visited and had a great dinner at one of the many fantastic restaurants. There were bars and it is a beautifully laid out area. It is a must see if you are in the area. YOU will be able to find a great restaurant and have a Great evening...

It's been years since we last visited. We were pleasantly surprised with the revitalization, the beautiful parks, the quaint shops and cozy restaurants.

Definitely add this to your stroll around town list. Friendly folks and nice shops. Check out the Church of the Cross, built in 1854, really neat.

unfortunately it was sunday and many businesses were closed but I've been there before and it's a fun day to stroll and check out all the different shops

We were staying in Hilton Head so drove over to check out Bluffton. We liked it enough to go back another day. If you enjoy shopping and galleries you'll like it. Also check out Church of the Cross whole your there. We ate at Local Pie, great pizza.

We stayed in a VRBO called "Bluffton State of Mind , horse farm and May River House. Our host was Ana and it was an amazing week, I would highly recommend it. It was right off May River Road. Heaven on Earth. Thank you Ana.

Great spot to park and shop or better yet rent bikes and stop at places. Make sure to get a basket so you can carry your stuff. Boutiques and lunch places and old churches. Nice park for the kids to play in as well nearby. Don't complain about parking to the city, as they want to knock down historic homes possibly to build empty parking lots. We don't want that. History should be preserved. Enjoy your shopping trip!

Shops are lovely. Lots of art and history. Parking is very limited so car pool when possible. The Cottage is a nice place for lunch.

We like small southern towns! There was a farmers market going on that we took advantage of by getting some fresh vegetables. It was a good time.

Stopped to look around this historic town. Makes for some good walking down the street to the docks. It was hot this day and the visitor center was closed this day..

Folks tend to sit a while longer in the shade. The speed limits are still set at 30 mph. The local constabulary is serious about. Most everybody’s friendly and will say hello or at least wave. May River Submarine races still dominate the summer calendar. Budweiser still wets the whistle of bluff lookers. It’s slow and easy here in the low country. Smell those shrimp they beginning to boil.

We had a rainy morning during our stay in Hilton Head and drove over the bridge to check out Bluffton. We started at the Heyward House and Historical Center with a nice self-guided tour. Then we walked down to the Church of the Cross; we didn't realize the hours are limited and made it shortly before they closed for the day. (The docents are there Monday-Thursday for a few hours; there are services on Sundays). From there we walked out on the dock over the May River and then down below the bluff. The weather spit some rain at us but cleared as the day went on. We finished up picking up some items at the Mulligan House and heading back toward the Heyward House and were greeted by the pleasant surprise of an afternoon Farmer's Market. It contained a beer truck, produce and a variety of interesting items (we bought a children's book, some micro greens and olive oil.)
There are public bathrooms next to the park which were very convenient for a day trip there.

Old Town Bluffton is an historic, funky town with old and new shops and restaurants working well together! I love heading out there from my home on Hilton Head Thursday afternoons for their wonderful Farmer’s Market. Get there early, have lunch at the Cottage, browse the markets, and the upscale boutiques. It’s an up amd coming spot!

We just had the perfect fireworks experience in Bluffton, SC. Thank you to the city of Bluffton for hosting such a memorable display over the May River. After a brief shower we headed to Oyster Factory Park to view the 30-minute display. There were food trucks and a wholesale family crowd. One after another we were treated to a splendid display of fireworks over the May River. The crowd even started singing the National Anthem. There was plenty of Police and rescue team presence to ensure everyone’s safety. Leaving the area was a breeze because Bluffton Police had a solid traffic plan. We are most grateful to the City of Bluffton for a memorable evening.

We did not find "Old Town Bluffton" to be a tourist attraction at all. We found some renovated old houses converted in to Realty offices and the such but nothing that you would take time to go visit.

Nothing outstanding ok for a nice walk around it has some pleasant resturants ....kids might enjoy it

If you have time to go to Old Town Bluffton, it's truly worth your while. There is so much to see and do as you are walking around the town. Many of the cute stores and art galleries are on Calhoun Street and off of the side streets. Other great sites to visit are: the Bluffton Oyster factory park during Sunset parties, the Church of the Cross by the water, Captain Woody's restaurant/bar - where the locals go, and the Dispensary where local music can be heard during the summer. It's great to see the young and the young at heart enjoying their time in a small town. Nothing like it; best in nice weather.

We visited Bluffton many years ago on a vacation to HHI, and at that time there was literally nothing there. We were blown away on our visit there this week!!! Approx. a dozen restaurants, a dozen galleries, and a dozen interesting shops to explore! Definitely a very enjoyable day trip from HHI!

We live in Old Town. This is a manufactured tourist attraction that us locals love. Several street festivals every year.
If you like quaint local joint, You will love the Dispensary. Not a pharmacy, but a great bar with great burger. Prices are very reasonable

Loved walking through the town during the farmers market. Nice quaint town to visit for lunch and a nice stroll.

Very cute 3 block town full of cute shops and nice Littles restaurants. I enjoyed all the fresh fruit at the farmers market. The general store has a lot of cute items.

Stopped by The Dispensary on the old town walk one Thursday night while we were walking the Bluffton Farmers Market. Sat at on outdoor table to enjoy the outdoor entertainment and had a delicious lunch of nachos and sandwiches. I had a beer (or two😊) and was surprised with the service and quality of the food. It seemed to be a regular bar/sandwich place but when we got our food we had to go in to see what we had missed. The decor is rustic and comfortable. The wait staff were friendly and efficient. We had a great time.

Calhoun Street and the Promenade are worth exploring. Don't miss Church of the Cross down by the river - usually open to the public. Calhoun Street has a variety of interesting shops & restaurants. If you go on Thursday you will experience the farmer's market. Sometimes I think the prices are a bit high but well worth the experience. Not a big fan of the Promenade. You can't find parking anywhere. There are some good restaurants but also some not so good ones. Overall Old Town Bluffton deserves a Very Good rating:)

Had a great afternoon walking the area and seeing all the cool art galleries. Very nice afternoon. Most galleries have trinkets as well as high end items for sale.

The town of Bluffton is quaint, charming and has a lot to offer. We did the farmers market and Spartina shop. Get local purses!!!

We stumbled across this little town and enjoyed walking the streets and stopping at the galleries and the shoppes. We had lunch at the Cottage and loved the food. We walked down to the May River, went in an old church and just loved this little town.

Great experience for dining and shopping. This seems like a great place to visit when I was in the area.

It's a great town. Lot's of history. Beautiful old trees. It's very charming. There are quite a few restaurants to choose from in all price ranges. Lot's of variety in food types. It's a charming town just to walk around in. Lots of art and interesting view.

Very well decorated area, with lots of neat little places to shop and eat.
The cobblestone areas are tough to walk on, but neat.

We were in HHI for the week and on a rainy day decided to visit Old Town Bluffton. We anticipated a variety of shops but it seemed mainly to be art galleries. There were some historic houses and church and in all fairness did not tour. The shops were spaced far apart since they were in converted houses so coming on a rainy day was not the best idea. We are glad we went but would not go back. Just not our cup of tea but if you are into art or historic houses you would enjoy.

We enjoyed walking around old town after having lunch at The Cottage. We enjoyed the galleries, shops/boutiques, music that we could overhear in various areas of the neighborhood, and the unique church down by the river. Lovely area ...

I love Old Town Bluffton. It has really grown over the years and there is a hunch to do. They have some amazing galleries and restaurants and a really fun farmer's market on Thursdays.

Great Festival. Great food. Perfect weather. Old Town Bluffton is a quaint little town. Little shops to visit and places to eat.

A great place to visit, with lots of little unique stores, art galleries, restaurants, and cold beer. I go back time and time again.

Just like stepping back into another time - the old time feel of thus community is just lovely. I hope it never changes.

Wife and I frequent Oldtown every weekend. Calhouns is an excellent bar and restaurant and we love the Pizza at Local Pie. The Distillery is also very good as well as the taco bar (think its called agave but I dont remember) Alot of great events happen down here too year round. Best place to live in my opinion. Love Bluffton especially Oldtown.

Unless you're into art galleries don't waste your time. "Old Town" only has about 5 historic buildings.

I could spend hours there. The shops are wonderful, and the restaurants are so delicious. I love being able to walk the streets. The farmer's market days and festivals are amazing.

My wife and I live in Bluffton but we take every opportunity we can, just to go and explore the beauty here. Old Town is a place I will never get tired of! I love all of the history, the cute shops, and the yummy places to eat!

This was a great side trip to our vacation. The farmers market was great with produce and local artist. I would suggest visiting when it's not so hot. Lots of history for the history buffs.

We live here. Old Town Bluffton is easy and charming to get around. Beautiful access to the tidal May River. Great food and galleries.

Bluffton is a great place to stop through if you're headed to Hilton Head or even on your own for the day. There are plenty of good restaurants to eat at or things to see.

Old Town Bluffton is a lovely place to walk, shop, eat, and people watch. There are so many different shops to venture into with amazing people to help you. You can spend as much or as little time as you want. It is really a lot of fun and so many people to meet!

I visited late in the day and it was quite chilly but I still enjoyed walking around town. I absolutely loved Church of the Cross. The backdrop of the sun setting over the water and casting rays of sunshine on the church grounds was breathtakingly beautiful. There were many unique shops. The welcome center was a great source for things to do in Bluffton and surrounding towns.

Old Town Bluffton is a wonderful place to walk around and see the sights. Bring your Pooch too. So many little shops to wander in and out of. Wonderful restaurants and Bar & Grills too. Meander down to the river. They also have boat tours. Don't forget the churches along the way and the beautiful historic homes. Don't forget the Promendade on the other side of May River Road.

Old town Bluffton provides a wonderful atmosphere. Lots of awesome shops restaurants and places to grab a drinks with friends.

Historic homes and scenic streets filled with shopping, art and restaurant patrons. Some of the nearby homes are built to look old.

Very neat place to visit. Lots of shops and restaurants. Ate at Fat Paddies and Captain Woody's while visiting Bluffton. Very good food. Nice golf cart community.
Gave us a military discount just from wearing our USMC attire. 🇺🇸

We keep coming back here whenever we visit this part of South Carolina. It is always pleasant to stroll along the old Calhoun street, the promenade, to visit the churches, galleries, the park. This year the things may not appear as vibrant but the resilient spirit of this boutique town goes on and one can feel it.
Most places were open and inviting while in full compliance with the pandemic precautions.
Great place to do our Christmas shopping for those hard to please people on our gift list...

This is good for lunch, the church and some casual shopping. Maybe 3 hours max. It is a throwback to an earlier time.

We stopped down here for a little bit of shopping and ended up visiting the farmers market, too, which was amazing. This area is gorgeous and so well preserved. All the shops and scenery just amaze everyone! You'll definitely want to visit this area while in Bluffton.

We chose to move to Bluffton in large part due to Old Town's charm. Hilton Head feels like a resort, Old Town feels like a hometown. Charming! Love the restaurants, shops, artistry and music scene.

I just love this weekly farmers market. There are lots of local artisans, delicacies, and a couple of good old fashion farmers. There are shops, galleries, and live music. Definitely something to see when you are in town, do not miss this.

Small and quaint area with several small shops, good resturants and a few unique stores to browse. While it's not a big area it's nice to take a break and see. I don't know about summer but I'd imagine it could be crowded and a challenge to park. There is a bit of everything for food as well.

Area has multiple art galleries, artists workshops, great restaurants, boutiques and old buildings which survived the Civil War. Town is situated on banks of May River and has great access to delicious local oysters and shrimp. There is a weekly Farmers Market and hosts many events throughout the year featuring Arts, Craft, Food & Drink, Music.
You definitely want to spend some time here.

Old Town Bluffton is just a fun place to walk around and eat at some of the wonderful restaurants. There are many small shops and on some Thursdays, there is the Farmers' Market.

Old Town is a fun side trip to spend a day. With its quaint boutiques, eateries and music its a must! Thursday’s is a great time to go late afternoon when the outside market is open. Be sure to visit The Dispensary with live music, outdoor fire pit and lunch ( burgers, etc) For the best Margarita Agave Side Bar is the place to go!
We loved it so much after a few vacations on HHI, we moved here!
PS.. if you’re staying on the island, you also have plenty of time to spend a day in Savannah.. short drive to the ferry and you’ll love it!! Happy Travels!

The whole area is simply wonderful and Bluffton with all the old homes as well as the new ones in the old fashion is always worth a stroll

We decided to stop by while passing through on our way to Hilton Head. This town is absolutely adorable and so beautiful. Honestly, my husband and I are considering moving to the area after seeing this town. We fell in love with it!

In the antebellum period, Bluffton was a thriving southern town. It fell to the Union army during the Civil War but remained a commercial port city after the war. Many of the old homes date to the 1800's including the church of the cross.

This is the preserved old southern, low country atmosphere.
New business must comply with strict code to maintain the feel of the old south.
Always something going on, many restaurants and shops.

Lots of cute boutiques and restaurants in Old Town Bluffton. I just went to Cooper's lighthouse (a new shop) and purchased a few birthday gifts. It's always a nice stroll around from Church of the Cross to Mia Tierra Restaurant. Enjoy!

We went to the Hayward House then the Church of the Cross and the May River and the farmers market. It seemed like everyone knew each other. Small town. If I lived here I would have purchased produce.

Accidentally drove through town and was struck with the small town beauty. Church on the river is beautiful. Several little shops and restaurants. Wish we had more time

Great historic area with restaurants and unfortunately lousy parking.
Plenty of places to wander to and also art studios. The May River is a few blocks away for a breathtaking sunset!

Quaint area with many Art Galleries, Specialty retail, Bars & Music Venues, and many great local restaurants (sans chains). Look for various Bluffton Festivals which occur throughout the year (Seafood Festivals, Art Festivals, Oyster Festivals, Boiled Peanut Festivals, etc.)
Great views of the May River by the Church of the Cross at the end of Calhoun St. with a future waterfront park next to that in the making. Bluffton Oyster Factory Park is close by as well with access for boats to the May River. Many events are held there from time to time.
Small area that can be walked, biked, or golf-carted (as golf carts are allowed within certain town streets). Parking is a problem around an area called the Promenade.
Old Town has a great vibe, and it's a happening spot during Festivals and weekends!

Great visit to a super charming little town. Old Town Bluffton is a great place for a family outing! Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. There were great art galleries and shops and very good restaurants covering all the price ranges, all in great setting full of history and picturesque beauty.

This is a continually growing quaint town with many restaurants, art galleries and unique gift shops (not your souvenir type). It's lovely to walk around the town's main streets.
During the warmer months there is a Farmer's Market every Thursday afternoon often with music and many booths showing both art and food.
Parking is limited and it may take awhile so anticipate that before going.

I love Old Town Bluffton. You can go get a cup on coffee, walk around, have lunch or dinner, maybe a cocktail. Go down by the water and enjoy the view. Lots of shops to visit too!

Driving through there's plenty of restaurants, galleries, shops and pubs! It's a nice walking town, there's benches to sit and people watch, rest or catch up with a friend you haven't seen in ages!
The town is so clean, well maintained and they have ample parking..
Easy drive to Hilton Head Island or Savannah!

Old Town Bluffton is a perfect little day trip if you get tired of the beaches on Hilton Head and need a break from the sun! Charming little streets with cute shops and fun spots to eat. There is an obviously "newer" area that has been added but it's not nearly as interesting as the original low cottages and older buildings. It can be a bit tough to figure out where to park depending on what's going on in town that day. All in all a fun way to waste away a few hours.

A small hometown feel to this treed Southern town. Several restaurants and shops. Beautiful scenery. Nice for a stroll. Laid back, not much to do,

Old town Bluffton lets your imagination wonder to the days when ships floated up and down the May River delivering goods. Currently, Old Town has some amazing restaurtants. However, the area is in need of less crafty stores and more diverse affordable shopping boutiques.

Little town with really only a few streets. It’s well preserved and lots of history. If you like art, you’d like all the little galleries along the main road.

What a great small town to stroll through. Not too big but with enough places to shop and eat Bluffton is a throwback to the Mayberry RFD days. The Church of the Cross has beautiful grounds and sits on the waterfront.Plenty of mom and pop restaurants to dine at and arty shoppes to browse.

It was nice walking through the old town in the craft area. seeing old buildings been brought back to life.

We came here for the Famer's Mkt on Thursday, as we were vacationing in Hilton Head. The town is Lovely, with huge Live Oak trees that are hundreds of years old. They have the nicest shops to visit, in converted century old homes. So beautiful. No junky souvenir shops. Very up-scale gift shops, if you want to buy someone a really nice gift for a special occasion. All the shops carry Unique gifts, and are very classy, no junk. There was one art gallery that I wanted to visit, but we ran out of time. Maybe next time. We ate at the Old Town Dispensary, which I recommend.

Compared to the tourist overrun hustle and bustle of Hilton Head, Old Town Bluffton is a blast of fresh air. From it's quiet shops to it's summer farmer's market, it's a great place to enjoy this small town.

Visited Old Town Bluffton several times on our recent visit to Hilton Head Island. A very enjoyable visit each time. Attended he Thursday Farmers Market and had the best She-Crab soup we ever had. Excellent!

Very well decorated area, with cute and quaint places to shop and eat.
The cobblestone areas are tough to walk on, but add to the overall charm

Walkable and sleepy southern town. Full of cute stores, are galleries, and fun eating places. Don’t miss the Church of the Cross, the Seven Oaks house, the farmers market on Thursday afternoons on Calhoun street, and the great coffee at the Corner Perk.

Now that there is more parking area it is fun to come to Old Town often. Many excellent restaurants for all tastes and bank accounts? Fun stores to visit. Friendly, fun people. Dogs are welcome.

This is a little old southern town near the resort isle of Hilton Head and is becoming the locale of many retirement/second upscale homes. The town is growing in chic-ness, and its nice

This unique village has a wonderful stores which are unique and boutique like. The restaurants are plentiful and creative. Great place to stroll and stop into various unique places.

Didn't really find Bluffton worth the trip. The main street had a few shops. And the other part of main street was more of a neo traditional new build area. Nothing too interesting.

We had beautiful weather to wander around here. Ran across a "Boiled Peanut Festival." Being a northerner, I never had boiled peanuts before. LOL, I prefer the roasted kind, but it's always good to learn new things!

I love the quaintness and history of Old Town Bluffton. It’s small in size
but large on ambiance. Very artsy and quite historic. Very nice for a full morning or afternoon visit. Plenty of great restaurants, too! Thursday holds a small farmers market with lovely fare.

When we first drove through the town and ate at a restaurant we though the buildings were all old originals. What a surprise to find out that many of the buildings are newly constructed. The town has done an excellent job of having buildings built to resemble the original structures. It is fascinating to view the building and choose which ones are new. Well worth a visit.

We walked around as a family. This is a quaint, family friendly town. There was good food, and fun places to shop. We went to a bike rental shop and rented bikes for the kids and found a Spartina outlet.

Seven years ago this place was a ghost town. Today it is a terrific place to walk, shop and eat. History, art, the May River are a great combo. Everyone we meet in town always has a smile on their faces and are almost always enjoying their day. Great place to visit and an even better place to live.

Good restaurants, art galleries and coffee shops. The town is true old southern charm. Recommend it highly.

Old Town Bluffton is a must see when in the area. It is beautiful, funky, interesting and always welcoming. Check out the many art galleries, antique shops, boutiques and restaurants and more restaurants. On the banks of the Maye River, there are civil war period homes, the Oyster Factory, tours on the river and golf cart tours as well. You will never be bored. In addition, don’t miss the Thursday farmers’ market or the many festivals on Calhoun Street in the heart of Old Town.

Old Town Bluffton is one of a kind next to a world class resort city. Main Street businesses, cafes and restaurant bring big time appeal to a town like setting. Love walking to restaurants, shops and businesses ..).

This little town on the water is worth a visit. It’s artsy and funky with some great galleries and shops, and some restaurants. There’s a nice visitor center in a historic home you can tour for a fee. Some neat old churches too.

We liked the short drive thru and a stop at the old church . Next a walk around the shops and galleries . Takes about an hour to see it all .

I love going into Old Town Bluffton for restaurants, shopping, and the farmer's market. There are so many wonderful places to visit and things to do... both with regards to shopping and great restuarants. Parking can be a little tricky depending on when you are trying to visit, but it is definitely worth a visit.

This place has several shops and places to eat that you should check out. The new town of bluffton is kind of built around the old town and hides it from the normal places you might visit.

Interesting little shops, enjoyable walk, and nice places to eat. We visit anytime we’re in Hilton Head. On Thursday’s there is a farmer’s market, which is added fun.

Very nice leisure neighborhood walk with plenty of shopping, galleries, and places to eat. We will actually be back another day to walk around some more.

The quaint shops are so fun to visit. A lot of local artists displaying their creativity. A great walking tour. The childrens book store is a must to visit.

Love this little town with a true small town Americana feel. Great shops and restaurants. No hustle bustle just a slow easy feel.

We moved to Bluffton in 1998 and bluffton was a sleepy old town just west of Hilton Head, South Carolina. During the last twenty years Old Town Bluffton has been transformed into a vibrant must visit town with many attractive shops and restaurants.

We come back year after year. Great food, live music, and friendly people. Walk to the river, visit the shops and get a great meal all within a few blocks of the May River

What a great place to enjoy. Out of the rush of people and yet enjoy the comfort of the south hospitality. Enjoyed just walking around the streets. Everyone one so nice.

Mi Tierra was awesome!!!! Salsa was incredible. The wait staff was very on top of waiting on us and we were a part of 9. Thank you!!!
We enjoyed browsing the boutiques , dining in the restaurants and refreshing at the watering holes in town.
