Love the wine here

By SmokiesJunkie |

We can't go by this place without stopping. It was a beautiful fall day and the grounds here are beautiful. Love tasting the different wines. We try to sample ones we haven't bought before and try to find something different. They have the best sweet red wine. Also love the tour of the winery. It iss always informative. This is a great place to sit outside and drink wine and snack on cheese.

Great wine tasting venue

By Daniel R |

Indiana winery's excel at sweet and semi-sweet wines. Oliver is no exception. Where they excel is in the beautiful grounds and vineyard just north of Bloomington Indiana, The main road , State Road 37 is under construction but we had no trouble getting in or out on a busy Friday afternoon. A tasting fee may be charged but may also be waived when you purchase wine. The disappointment is that their better wines are not available for tasting. The ground are beautiful. You can purchase a bottle, cheese, crackers, and have have lunch enjoying the vineyard,

Great visit and to relax

By Angela D |

Such a great place to go and just relax while sampling wines. Picnic tables by the pond or you can stay inside. Cheese, crackers and other snacks to purchase at reasonable prices. Cutting boards, wine stoppers, etc. It is really super and must see!

Nice place to visit

By Sootsgd |

Wife and I stopped to taste and buy some wine. I only drink on special occasions but I wanted to see if they had anything new or special. I tried their Cherry Moscato and it was very good. Great bouquet and the taste hit the palate just right. It is lightly effervescent but not too much to be considered a sparkling wine. There were a lot of groups especially groups of women having outings with friends. My wife sampled a couple of wines and then we purchased some and left. There are plenty of ways to enjoy this place. Stroll the grounds or purchase some light fare such as crackers and cheese etc, and have a light lunch on the property. The grounds are very well maintained Very good trip and if you enjoy wine tasting this is a must stop in the area.

Great Place

By Indiana Eric |

Beautiful place. Friendly people. No complaints. I'm sure there will be an access road from the new Interstate. Check your route first so you don't miss your exit.

Great setting

By thedupe80 |

One of the most if not the most beautiful settings for a winery I have ever seen top notch wines top notch staff beautiful view what's not to like..

Great Vineyard in Indiana

By Anne H |

Such a beautiful atmosphere. We sat out on the patio and had tastings. All the team members were so kind and informative. Affordable wine experience!

Beautiful place

By MISTY C |

Beautiful place. Sat out on the patio. My favorites are blueberry and cherry mascoto. The flight was $15 for 6 but you can split the flight with another person. Would love to come back when the weather is warmer.

A Place to Slow Down

By KimBellingham_WA |

I always stop by Oliver Winery when I go to Bloomington to visit my parents. The buildings and landscaping are beautiful and meticulously tended. I love the stones and plants and water. It is very peaceful and restful there. I sometimes sample wine and always wander outside on the deck to sit and listen and look at the beautiful surroundings. Sometimes I write or read there. I usually buy a bottle of wine and would love to have the time to sit and enjoy it while there. This time I arrived early and got to enjoy a very quiet setting, along with a great downpour of rain. I was told they would have free music through Labor Day on Saturdays, and they would have free jazz on Sundays.......I would love to enjoy those events if I still lived in Indiana.

The facility is beyond beautiful. The staff was outstanding and wonderful to work with!!! I highly recommend the Oliver Winery for business or pleasure, you will not be disappointed!!

Fun for The Whole Family

By The Autistic Traveler |

I recommend that Oliver Winery be high on your list of things to do when visiting Bloomington (and Southern Indiana, for that matter). The grounds are gorgeously-landscaped and have hosted many of my family’s birthday parties in the past, and inside the winery are excellent wine options for those of age. Events like live concerts and wine tastings happen all the time on their massive patio, and when the weather is sunny and warm, hanging out here feels great.

Check it out!

Gorgeous

By Linda C |

The grounds of the winery are gorgeous and lush with seriously incredible landscaping; it was an unexpected surprise just walking in from the parking lot. It was Sunday and business was bustling. We just stopped in to buy wine on the way from Bloomington back to Indianapolis, and wished we had more time for the full experience. They have a huge selection, tastings and a restaurant overlooking a pond that would be a great place for Sunday brunch. Would definitely return!

Indiana's best winery

By jd502016 |

You should take the opportunity to get off of St Rd 37 just north of Bloomington. and visit the Oliver Winery. We were there on the Friday after Thanksgiving. We were in the original tasting room which is a more intimate experience than the main shop. The help is friendly and knowledgeable and there is a huge selection of excellent wines to taste. There is something for everyone. The grounds are especially beautiful in the fall and during the Christmas season.

Love it!

By dllovig |

My wife and I come here all the time. The atmosphere is great, you can sit in the covered area out of the sun or out in the grass at a picnic table by the water. The wines are great( the blackberry is the best). They have a nice selection of cheeses, meats and crackers. In the summer they have live music on weekends. It does get crowded on beautiful weekends so get there early to get a table!

Delicious wine

By Eugenia C |

A very neat place to stop and shop. It has a wide variety of wines and things that go with it. Wonderful friendly staff.
Before you leave be sure to take a stroll through the garden

Wonderful spring day spent with friends!

By dshendri |

We came here with 7 other friends to celebrate a birthday. We found tables outside on the lower deck, scooted chairs around and ended up having enough space for all of us, and a gift/dessert table. It was near 70 degrees outside which made it perfect for sitting outside on the deck here at Oliver. The scenery can't be beat. There are many tables, chairs, ledges, picnic tables or bring your own blanket and sit on the hill around the lake. Bring your own food, drinks, decor, coolers etc in to the winery. Then we got some of their bubble craft wine and it was fantastic. This particular day was very crowded and the lines for tasting and purchasing were very long. This is just a wonderful, beautifully landscaped place to spend a warm afternoon with friends. We really enjoyed having our birthday celebration here.

Beautiful Setting

By Cindy Y |

I have been to many wineries and this one is truly a destination. The tasting room staff is great but the real star here is the property. The landscaping is fabulous. Taking time to buy a bottle and a snack and enjoying the afternoon on the small lake is a must. Some summer weekends they have live music, also a great time.

Day Trip with Friends

By Angela B |

Beautiful landscape with lots of wonderful areas to sit outside and enjoy wine, cheese, french baguette, oil, and chocolates all purchased inside. First we took the free tour. It was very interesting. I would recommend taking the tour if your interested in hearing about how the wine you taste was made. We then enjoyed the wine tasting. It was only $5 to taste 8 different wines. Every staff member was wonderful and seemed to enjoy what they were doing. We did the wine tasting before enjoying our picnic lunch outside. The visit was enjoyable and I would recommend.

By L_D_vacation |

My fiancé works at a winery & Oliver winery has the best deal by far. If you work at a winery or vineyard, just let them know & show a business card. They will give you a free wine tasting & 30% off any wine you purchase. This is the best industry discount we have found. They have a nice wine selection & offer fruit based wines too.

What a GORGEOUS winery!

By morganarnold2 |

Oliver Winery is one of the prettiest, if not, the prettiest winery I have ever visited. The landscaping is out of this world, and their prices are extremely reasonable. I WILL return! LOVED this place!

Lovely Winery in Any Season

By MamaPeach2 |

Oliver is a great place to visit for any occasion. Be sure to wander around and admire the beautiful landscape. When the seasons change, I can't wait to get back to the winery and see how the gardens have changed. It's a popular spot and can get very busy, so allow extra time and patience to taste, shop, and find an outside space to enjoy. Ask the friendly staff or check the website for events and live music schedules!

Wine taste testing

By Russell D |

Great winery to visit awsome wine taste testing .very friendly people and knowledgeable. Great grounds probably good for weddings. Great place to stop and taste some different wines

Fun wine tasting and tour!

By Sam B |

We took the family, who was down to visits, to this establishment. It was our first time as well, and we weren't disappointed! Our tour guide made us feel welcome, and there was no pressure if you didn't know anything about wine. He actually stated that it doesn't really matter what the experts say, is you like a wine.. buy it!
The wine tastings was a great deal, I think $8-10 for the event, and it was enough to last at least a half hour or more. We ended up buying a few hand basket full of wine! We live out of state, but always request Oliver wine when we get visits now!

gorgeous!

By Betsy T |

The winery's grounds are beautiful, and the staff is very friendly. I would, however, like to see some koi in their fountains.

Very nice and educational

By sholom4eric |

Wife and I visited the winery. It was very nice and the people were friendly. It was interesting to find out how they make wine. It was a most beutiful place however hard to enjoy outside because of the cold weather. Recommended to every couple to visit that likes tasting.

Good fun, decent wine

By Elbow greaser |

The place is beautiful but the wines tend to be only good on the sweeter end of the spectrum. My wife loved the berry varieties but I was left wanting something heavier and deeper.

Loved this place

By Suzanne Spencer B |

The grounds are amazing, wine is delicious and very affordable. Loved all the wines especially the honey wine and blackberry. Tastings are incredible price. $5 for 8 samples. Open till 6 everyday

Great wine... super busy atmosphere

By Bobbi |

My husband and I recently visited Oliver Winery, never having visited prior to this, and we enjoyed the beautiful grounds and the wines. It was so busy and there was no way to really get up to the counter without shouldering your way in... it would have been helpful to have a number system or something... however, the wine list options were EXCELLENT. There were so many to choose from, both dry and sweet! We really enjoyed the Chardonnay and the Chambourcin Rose. The Hard Cider and the Blueberry Moscato were to die for... And the Apple Pie was self descriptive! Apple pie in a bottle! It was delicious and seemed to be a crowd favorite! With the exception of being crowded and a little unorganized at the wine tasting table, we enjoyed ourselves greatly! Our first barista was fantastic and great with explaining each wine sampling, but we were there during a shift change so we ended with a different barista who did not really explain anything or have a whole lot of answers to our questions. She was very friendly, but may not have had a great amount of training.

Overall, the wines are fantastic! Probably the best wine we have had in all of Indiana so far. Just make sure you have a while before you have to be anywhere, because it is a super busy place and it may take quite a while to actually get up to the counter!

Great picnic

By Dave O |

Grab a bottle and feed the fish. Bring some good and have a picnic or buy some there most times. Live music makes a great date night.

Beautiful Winery with Fun Tours

By Natalie B |

Have been to Oliver a few times now for trips to break away from campus. The winery grounds are beautiful! Very knowledgeable and friendly staff who give great tours of the facilities. Fantastic $5 tasting deal for 8 samples and can purchase so many different kinds of wine in-store! Gets really crowded on the weekends but lines move quickly and we didn't feel rushed. Definitely want to stop by in the spring when all of the beautiful landscape is in bloom.

Picnic Lunch with Wine Tasting, GREAT!

By crackofdawn |

With another couple we drove to Oliver Winery a short drive NE out of Bloomington, IN on St Rd 37. It was a Tuesday afternoon and the tasting room had plenty of room for the 4 of us to try the (8) samplings of our choice of wines for $5 per person. Since it was open tasting there were only a couple of wines not included. 46 were on the listing and 8 were either not included or extra price. After the tasting we hauled our cooler out to the picnic area (there are 4 or so picnic areas) and opened a couple of the wines we bought to drink with the appetizers and lunch we brought. Note, there was no requirement to purchase to use the picnic areas.

The site reminds me of a limestone quarry with plentiful shade, tables, and quiet areas.

The wines, we bought a number of them, are not just Indiana grapes, but also from grapes on the west coast as well. There are the soft, sweeter wines, but also the dry and semi-dry wines you would expect from a west coast winery.

Anniversary Day Trip

By Karen H |

My husband brought me here for our anniversary. The scenery was beautiful and we enjoyed the rock garden view. Wine tasting was a lot of fun and certainly worth the low cost of $5 for 8 wine tastes. It helped me choose what I wanted to purchase! We will have to come back on a weekend to do the tour since they don't do them during the week.

A bloomington must

By Tiffrock12 |

The winery is a great place to bring your own food, enjoy the outdoors and purchase great wine. We did the wine tasting which is $5/ for 8 tastings. Lots of fun and the wine really is superb. Learn all about it on the free wine tour that takes place every 30 min from 12:30-4:30pm

Impressed

By Piper417 |

Was not looking forward to coming here as I'm not much of a wine drinker but the rest of my party all wanted to stop and I must admit I was impressed as soon as we walked up to building, the front entrance was beautiful with all the big stones and plants and fountain, being a Monday afternoon it was not crowded for the wine tasting and the staff was able to answer all our questions about the wine, they were even able to find me a wine that I liked. So because of the staff and grounds at Oliver Winery I now have a better understanding and likeness for wine.

Nice place to chill out

By Jenell |

This place is gorgeous gardens and pond/picnic area, very calming relaxing atmosphere with plenty of room to stretch out and just take in the moment. The winery is an added bonus to tap into the knowledgeable, friendly and always ready to help staff to taste some of the most impressive wines in the south central Indiana area.

Road Trip Stop

By Cyndi1956 |

Eight of us were on a Bloomington roadtrip and stopped at one of our favorite wineries. The place was hopping but we were directed to the original tasting room (after paying our $4.95 fee for 8 tastings). Our host, Kip, was great. He had a lot of knowledge about each wine, guided us through the tastings, and allowed us to take our time, visit, share tastes (and we probably got a couple of extra tastes)! Everyone had a great time! After tasting everyone made their purchases and we were off to the next stop. We will return for either a concert of one of the vineyard tours.

Who ever thought that Brisk, Wine, and Music mix

By Rich491 |

Great food, of course wine, and live music made for a wonderful break on a long trip to a favorite campsite. A must stop place on the weekends for wine tasting and barbecue brisk.

Oliver Winery is full of Ambiance

By heat1968 |

When you seek out a winery whether it's just to drop in for a tasting, or to sit back, relax, and enjoy your tasting AND a very nice setting! Oliver Winery definitely fits the bill
This is our 2nd visit to Oliver and never leave without a few bottles (I drink dry white, hubby drinks dry red)
This winery is a definite stop when in Indiana making wine stops!

Awesome place

By Jola O |

The server was fabulous, the winery was beautiful and the wine is awesome. It doesn't get any better than this! Our last name is Oliver, so we were able to take home a few extra corks for our collection and bought a few bottles of wine. It was an all around wonderful experience.

5/5 igloo experience

By Viktoria Mitchel |

I booked the igloo experience online ahead of time for my boyfriend’s birthday. I bought the wine flight & cheese board to go with it. The reservations were super easy to make and everything was ordered, paid for & ready to go by the time we got there. It’s beautifully decorated for the holidays too!

Okay stop

By CRMays |

I had heard the winery is beautiful. So we stopped when leaving IU from a visit. The land is gorgeous. That’s where my excitement stopped. We had to purchase all tastings and they were very small and rushed. It was late in the day but we were surprised at the service.

Awesome place

By grasswidow85 |

Uplands Wine Trail. On any sunny afternoon, stop in for a tasting then choose a chilled bottle, get some bread and cheese and go sit outdoors. Take a blanket and enjoy the pond.
Check out their music schedule. Take the time to look around at the flowers and waterfalls.
Beautiful spot.

Great selection of options in the midwest!

By jtr56 |

I was able to stop by one time driving through myself. I enjoy our regional wine areas in Indiana. Not as large or as many selections as a huge California vineyard, but still great options and great prices. I would recommend a stop for anyone 21 and older.

Great winery!

By James P |

Stopped by here while in Bloomington, fantastic winery, great building and grounds, and of course delicious and varied selection of wine. Staff were friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and clearly loved discussing the different wine making processes and resulting flavours. Great way to spend a sunny afternoon!

Fun at the winery

By 11dona22 |

A beautiful place to visit! They often have live music so check out their website. They have munchies such as a variety of cheeses, baguettes. There is also a pond you can sit around when the weather is warm.

Great place!

By Ceciliasails |

We try to stop there every summer. Have met friends there and enjoyed wine, cheese and crackers overlooking the pond. The tour is very interesting, and we always need to buy more. Of course.
You can also purchase cheese, crackers, etc. It is not a restaurant with prepared food.)

Loved it!

By JRuth58 |

Nice destination for a day trip. Lots of varieties, there's something for everyone's pallet. Staff helpful and friendly. The place is clean, beautiful and well kept. We will visit again for sure!

Great winery!

By GrandmaAE |

We have been frequenting the Oliver Winery for many years. We have discovered many wines that we enjoy and have introduced friends to them as well. They have a beautiful setting where you can enjoy the outdoors along with a picnic to go with wine!

Robert Lansdell

By Robert L |

Every year when I am in Bloomington,IN,this is my weekly visit for the ultimate in the wine tasting, sitting on the hill side. The view is overwhelming and your choice of food items to complement your wine purchase is incredible. For more fun you can walk down the hill to the pond and feed the very! very large Koi fish.Note:you can also take your own food to eat outside of Olivers winery and a celebration cake is fun to do.
You can check the schedule at this location for the open air jazz music on the 3rd Sat of May,June,July and August. This is held at their major vineyard called Creekbend lots of wine and incredible freshly cooked food. What a blast to spend Saturday nights from 4pm-9pm.check actual times.Every time there I ship a case of wine home
The place to socialize and pamper your self and company.

Local relaxing trip

Great place to stop by when visiting Bloomington. Check out good local wines and get a tour of the location. Good for an hour or two.

Awesome people

By moosebran |

The wine is delicious but the people that work here make it an amazing spot to come visit. They take time to explain the different types of wine and are friendly which make the experience amazing.

Biggest and best!!

By roamingpogues |

This is Indiana’s first, biggest, and best winery! They have a great selection! Plus their prices are excellent! The setting is beautiful too! Well done Oliver, well done!!

Awesome Winery

By Ernest R |

This is a great place to visit. Staff is friendly and helpful and are very informative. There are plenty of wines to sample and the tour is very informative. A must see if in Bloomington.

Highlight of our day's drive - beautiful setting right off the road

By jcisler |

We enjoyed the large tiered outdoor seating areas where you could take a glass of wine or bottle purchased inside to enjoy outside. The wine was good - they do have a variety to select from - and we added chips and hummus we had in the car for a late afternoon snack in a beautiful setting. Although the winery is near the road the picnic area is insulated from the traffic noise.

Graduation getaway

By karenmenkhaus |

Came for my nieces graduation. The weather was bright and sunny. The traffic was terrible but we got there in time to do a tasting. Sat outside with a glass of Reisling looking at the lake. Staff was patient even in the crowded tasting area. Beautiful setting. Good tasting. Good prices

Delicious wines!

By Westfield25 |

We stopped by this winery on the way into Bloomington. It did not disappoint. We did the wine tasting that was $5 each. This weekend they had free chocolates to sample along with the wines. It took about 40 mins to taste our 8 wines we picked from their huge selection. They were giving tours frequently but we did not go on one. Picked up a few bottles of wine for home. Will definitely stop by again!

ALWAYS A DELIGHT!

By Joanne S |

A beautiful place to visit with gorgeous gardens. A picnic on the patio with family, friends or club meetings is a real treat. Never leave without taking one of their lovely wines home with you!!!

Great fun and nice picnic environment

By Rob S |

generously priced for a number of wine tastings, this is a fun and high energy bloomington wine destination. Good servers lead you through a self selected list of their wines. Tours available. Bring a picnic basket, buy a bottle of wine, and enjoy the outdoor ambiance... tall trees, terraced decks, small parkland and a large pond with coin fish and ducks.

Wine tasting and purchasing

By kimbrumley |

My favorite winery! Not only are the wines here superb, but the personnel here are kind, courteous and informative! Always visit this winery when I'm in the area and never leave empty handed!

Indiana Wines!

By Robert W |

Indiana wines are generally not the varietals that we are used to and many have gone to berry wines and berry enhanced wines. Oliver is no exception, however, you will also find pinot noir, zinfandel, shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and some whites that are quite quaffable!! You can find a wine that will pair with any meal you are preparing in this extensive winery. They have wines to satisfy any budget and most palates. There are some rose' wines that are perfect for the early spring that we are promised this year. If you are looking for some good wine at reasonable prices that show off the terroir of Indiana, this is your winery. If you like sweet wines, they have those as well. They also have cheese and enough other foods that you could have an impromptu picnic on the grounds down by the pond. It was a little too cold for that while we were there, but we took wines with us for sharing with family and friends on our trip! The labels of their wines were commissioned by the owners and made by Indiana local artist, William Zimmerman. Most of the labels feature a native bird. One has a native Butterfly, also by William Zimmerman. That is reason enough for a bird lover to buy a bottle on a birding trip!! Nice Job! And thanks for bringing an awareness of the birds to our collective minds again!! The Owl and the Pileated Woodpecker are my favorites!

Beautiful place!!

By morganarnold2 |

I visited here with my friends and we had such a nice, relaxing time. We set out by the pond and enjoyed our amazing Oliver sangria. I cannot wait to go back.

Beautiful Setting

By Nariah B |

We stopped by the Winery on our way back from IUB. Beautiful setting with live music on the deck, wine tastings and what looked like great picnic/afternoon lounging areas. I brought wine back with me, but haven't tried it yet.

Good wines and a well run tasting

By mabinho |

This place is well publicised and conveniently located on the main road out of town, heading north to Chicago. The wine is good and reasonably priced (and selected products are even cheaper in the Walmart slightly further north). The tasting is very reasonably priced, and their is sufficient choice to suit most preferences. The port (and its seems they are allowed to call it that) was a very pleasant surprise). The shop has all kind of other local delicacies. There are also some nice gardens.

Even nice in Winter time

By mannks |

Stopped by another time here during the winter time. Very friendly staff helping you with the wine tasting. Seek out the local varieties.
Access is bit more difficult now that I-69 is finished there,

Stunning landscape!

By Lori G |

Not having seen or tasted much Oliver wine except the widely distributed sweet stuff, we didn't have high expectations...boy were we pleasantly surprised! Very beautiful place and some tasty and very varied selections. Another must see and do!

WOW

By Robert T |

Great Wine, Fine Facility, good Servers, FANTASTIC Location and EXCEPTIONALLY WONDERFUL GROUNDS AND POND. Overall a great experience.

Beautiful winery!!

By dkoscher |

Oliver Winery is must when visiting Bloomington!! The grounds are beautiful and the wine is divine! Buy some wine, crackers, and cheese and enjoy the afternoon on their property!

Beautiful!

By April S |

Oliver Winery is a beautiful location to visit in the fall. There are plenty of wines to choose from, so make sure to do a tasting! Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. November is their slow season, so take advantage and go visit. You’ll get great attention from the bar staff. Winery has lots of cute retail items for sale and also cheese/crackers/snacks you can buy to soak up all the delicious wine. Tours are also given! Worth a visit or two!

Had a great time

By James B |

Found this place on line. It was the eclipse weekend and the place sold day passes for it. Was great!! Sold wine in small or large amounts, lots of space, food trucks (in the afternoon). Great place to view the eclipse. Really friendly folks. Not a wine connoisseur, but was good to us. Took some chairs and a picnic basket and had a time.
Young man standing behind us asked his girlfriend to marry him during the eclipse. She said yes.
You can't make this stuff up!!
Probably good on a normal day too, large recreational areas IDK the rates for that, but looked like you could plan large gathering there.

Nice evening

By tvandoel78 |

We had a great time at Oliver! The grounds are pretty and the wine is good. I love the outdoor seating and the staff is wonderful

Fun mom's weekend wine tasting and picnic

By Julie S |

We visited with several of my daughters sorority sisters and their moms. We did the $5 wine tasting, which is very reasonable since you get to try 8 wines. Our guide was helpful, informative and interesting. Afterward, we had a picnic package for the group with a reserved table. The view was awesome and the setting was perfect. We enjoyed some cheese, crackers, olives, and sweet treats while having a bottle of wine. It was the perfect gathering place to meet and socialize. Everyone at Oliver was friendly and helpful during our visit.

Cheers!

By Cathron D |

A friend and I had such fun sampling the wine at Oliver Winery. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The tasting room was spacious and bright. There was also cheese and meats to purchase for picnics on the grounds. The wines were fabulous and lots to choose from.

Wine tasting

By Christina R |

This was our first time wine tasting and Kim was amazing on helping us through everything. He had a story to go with each wine. Of course, we left with 3 bottles of wine and recommend Olivery Winery as one of your stops.

Wonderful visit. Great staff

By Insgoddess |

This was our first visit but it will not be our last. The staff was friendly and very knowledge. The grounds were amazingly beautiful and the wine...well it was awesome. Great way to spend a day

Great place to take friends

By VacationPro99 |

A fun place to take friends for wine tasting. It is a popular place. Plus the store has cheeses and different snacks to buy.

Outside is a great background for photos with the big stones, the pond and the woods.

You must try the mead!

By Meredith H |

My parents and I spent an afternoon at Oliver Winery this past summer doing a wine tasting, and it was such a delight! The grounds are beautiful, and the wines were all top-notch. There were quite a few yellow jackets buzzing about on the patio, but they weren't stinging. I did have to get one of my wine samples replaced because the yellow jackets got to it first, though! You can bring a picnic or buy snacks in the shop, which is what we did. They had a discount going if you did a tasting and then bought a case of wine, so we bought a case to split between the three of us. We liked everything we tried that day, but our favorite was hands-down the mead. This is a great local business and a fun way to spend an afternoon. I highly recommend it.

Wine-Lovers Oasis

By Arborridgegranny |

This is a lovely winery with tasting, good food, entertainment, picnicking in style by the beautiful lake. We loved the great tour through a first class winery in gorgeous surroundings. Fall is a great time to visit and enjoy the Fall decorations and landscaping. The autumnal flavored wines were available for tasting. Great gift shop! I stocked my wine cellar and they ship to your home.
If you are visiting Bloomington this winery is a favorite to put on your list of must do's. Take plenty of time.

A Delightful Afternoon Visit

By LeeF301 |

We brought out-of-town relatives to this pleasant winery just north of Bloomington. We bought a bottle of wine, some cheese, crackers, and salami and enjoyed these on the veranda overlooking the lush vegetation. We were offered a tour of the winery and found this to be most informative and interesting.

Fantastic Redemption Story

By Jcwillia1 |

My wife is a huge Oliver Wine fan - we've had bottles of Soft Red and Soft Rose in our house for years.

So when we went to their Winery in June 2019, there was a very high amount of anticipation and without going into it too much, it was a total letdown. We had the classic "wine bar" experience where a bartender pours 8 samples of wines and then we move on. Not what we came for.

We gave them another shot in Nov 2020 and wow, did they ever deliver. This time we were out on their patio seated socially distanced from 4 or 5 other parties.

We ordered an inexpensive snack add on plate that was really outstanding, especially given the price- cheese wedges, crackers, olives, dried apricots and raisins, nuts, and a goat cheese cream cheese ball that was pretty outstanding.

Our host for the event was clearly a long time employee and she told the stories of the wines and the winery beautifully - we really loved her presentation and we told her that she was a great ambassador for her company afterwards.

This is what we missed in 2019 - marrying a story to the wines - making an experience feel special instead of just serving the product in an over-rushed too-busy format. It was absolutely what I wanted out of Oliver.

What a great redemption story for Oliver. Couldn't be happier for them.

I love wines more !!!

By Babita_Anup |

We had been to this winery on our last visit on October as well, then we tried the wine tasting. It was so good to try various type of wine. We couldn't take the tour of the Winery so this time it was on our priority we waited half and hour for the tour. But it was worth it. I just loved the tour so much. The guide told us about the various wine, the beginning of winery and the process of RED and WHITE wine. The staff was so pleasant and guided so well throughout the tour. There is a nice park to enjoy the food and wine with lake to enjoy the scenery. If you are around do visit this place. Don't forget to grab a bottle of there famous Soft Red wine for awesome taste.

Just go for crying out loud

By mark h |

My wife and I visited Oliver's winery and I have to say I'm a "BEER" kinda guy and always honestly looked down on and even made fun of wineries and people who drink wine!!!
Not anymore!!! Heck yeah!!! I'm a full blown wine-O!!! and if you're a how it's made kinda tuff guy like me, well all I gotta say ladies is drag him in like my wife did me and he will be a wine snob like I've become!!!/:0)

Good local visit

By IslanderOnTheRoad |

This is a great place to visit with friends and have a picnic. They will supply the wine and the outdoor tables. You bring your food. You can also buy cheese and crackers on-site. The wine is OK but not great. They are best know for sweet wines, so even if you don't like sweet wines, please try some. Their dry wines are adequate, I normally drinl dry reds, but I have to admit I love their moscatto and vignole. Their ice wine is excellent but very sweet -- it has a syrup like consistency

Relaxing time

Great place, great wines, and great people. Even with things going on they have everything under control and we had an amazing time sitting and relaxing. Grounds as always looked great and peaceful.

Setting aside my prejudice against a local vintner.

By Lynn J |

I have tried to make it to Oliver for years. I had a free afternoon recently and was able to go in without any rush behind me to see what it is all about.
Lovely location which they have taken pains to make pleasant, spacious and easy to navigate.
There are two things to consider here. First is location and they certainly are worthy of an A+, certainly 4 stars, perhaps more.
The second thing is the wines. I have (full disclosure) never been a fan of Oliver Wines. So I am glad I took the time and trouble to stop in. I found the wines I sampled to be very drinkable. Most have a bit more acetone note than I like. My favorite was the Creekbend Vidal Blanc Sparkling Wine. (I may be on a sparkling wine kick.)
The bottom line is, I believe I can find wines I like a bit better for a bit less. But I am glad to set aside my prejudice against this winery and enjoy it when I am given a bottle instead of passing it along as fast as I can.

Nice experience

Everyone was very knowledgeable about the products and services. They have something for everyone! The wine selection is great and the scenery is great , except for the highway

An oasis between Bloomington & Indianapolis

By Diane P |

Oliver Wines is a beautiful place to take a picnic, buy a bottle of wine, & enjoy the beauty of nature. While not the biggest winery in the world, it's quaintness gives a restful atmosphere. There is a wine to fit every person's pallet. My favorite is the red Sangria. You won't be disappointed to spend time enjoying the lovely surroundings.

Beautiful Winery

By Mrsporcelli |

At Oliver Winery, you can participate in a tasting for $5. You can choose up to eight different wines. This is a lot cheaper than other wineries in the area! However their "tour" of the winery wasn't much of a tour. Our tour guide led us to the back and we watched a video and then listened to him discuss every minute detail of the vineyard and winery's history *yawn*

I still recommend visiting this beautiful winery, but perhaps skip the "tour" as it is not very impressive.

Beautiful Winery!

By Lisa M |

It is a beautiful place with a park like setting. It has large standing stones, a little waterfall, a little botanical garden, walking path and a lake with carp in it. It is a very wooded area, so there is plenty of shade. There are picnic tables and patio tables so you can buy a bottle of wine and bring or buy some food (they have cheeses, crackers, etc.) and have a picnic. They have many types of wine, so you should be able to find something for everyone. It is much less crowded during the week. They do have some music festivals during some weekends. I highly recommend it!

We love this place

By RE1179 |

The gardens are beautiful. Take a moment to buy a bottle and hang out on the deck. Check out their calendar of events for live music. The tasting room is a great place to sample all the different flavors. Our favorite is the Shiraz. It pairs well with steak, red pasta, and pizza. It has been fun to see this winery grow over the years. Everyone is down to earth and kind. We love this gem and is a must on our list when we visit family.

Welcoming

By Debbie B |

Whenever we have visitors we take them to Oliver Winery for the friendly atmosphere and wonderful music concerts on the lawn where you can relax and enjoy a bottle of wine. Oliver's is also a great community partner!!

Great evening trip

By Don |

We just love Oliver Winery. Great wine and beautiful area and landscaping. Do a tasting then buy a bottle and enjoy it by the lake.

Fun place to visit

By CoasterHiker1991 |

It's $5 to taste 8 wines, which isn't too bad. Most of their wines are pretty forgettable, but a couple of the more expensive vintages are really nice. It's a nice place to go for a good atmosphere and mediocre wines. I mean, you can't go wrong with wine.

Beautiful grounds

By cheesqueen |

This is a great place to take visitors or even just have a picnic. Children are also allowed there, and it can be a fun place to pick out a pumpkin, which they also sell in the fall. There's now a charge for the wine sampling, but it's still fairly little and probably helps reduce the crowds by staving off the mooches. Be prepared for crowds in the fall or during a big college weekend.

Beautiful Landscaping

By travel_eat_drink |

The first wine I ever really tried was an Oliver wine, so it was a fun idea to stop at the winery while we were vacationing in Brown County. The grounds of the winery are really beautiful, the flowers were in full bloom, lots of bees and butterflies around. There is tons of space with tables and plenty of room if they were busy or having any kind of entertainment. We were there on a Tuesday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all. We had three people in our party tasting. Our server set us up to taste 8 samples for $5. We all chose our wines and she started serving my friend. It was funny because she was really serious and wanted to direct my friend on exactly what she thought she should try, even if it wasn't something she had chosen. But the server wasn't really moving on to the other two of us in our group, which meant my friend was 3 tastes in before she even asked us what we would like to try. My friend liked the personal attention, but the other two of us just really wanted to try the wines we had chosen! Because she insisted we try a few more wines than we had chosen for ourselves, I had a serious buzz well before we were done! My husband was a little irritated that our server seemed to be ignoring him, he had three or four tastes left on his list after the other two of us were done. It was a little unusual. Overall, we liked a few things, the hard cider and the cherry moscato were nice. We had never tried the Orchard Stand, which was honey wine, and the mango was quite good. It was a fun trip and definitely worth making the stop.

Beautiful surroundings and a fun tour

By Christina S |

Touring and visiting local wineries is a pastime of my friends and me, so while I was living in the area of course we had to visit Oliver. Oliver Winery is situated in a lovely, wood building where you can buy their wines and do a wine tasting (8 tastes for $5). You can also take a free tour of the factory which is on the same site. They also have BEAUTIFUL gardens all around the building as well as a lake with lots of picnic tables and more gardens. It's the ideal place to have a picnic and enjoy one of their bottles of wine (they'll only open one per two people in your group- just a head's up!). Whenever anyone visited me, I definitely made a point to take them here if the weather allowed!!

Lovely location, knowledgeable and helpful staff

By kimstamps |

We visited Oliver Winery for a wine tasting. It's extremely reasonable to try eight different wines and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Barbara, the tasting room assistant, made our visit all the more enjoyable. They offer a range of white and red wines.Outside, the setting is beautiful from the vineyards to the outdoor settings and the pond. It's definitely worth a visit and a tour.

Beautiful Winery

By millrz |

Oliver Winery is beautiful. We have been there twice and enjoy tasting the new wines they have to offer. There is a great selection of wines to try. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. There are also cheeses, crackers, dips and sundry items to enjoy with a bottle of wine on the terrace or down by the pond. We will go back again when we are in that part if the country.

Amazing wines!

By Sarah F |

This place was so beautiful! My husband and I and our couple friends sat out on their beautiful porch drinking their wine overlooking the pond. The tour was great, and the wines were great and reasonably priced.

Excellent day out for wine lovers

By thomas199023 |

Visiting Oliver winery is a excellent day out for wine lovers. Good choice of wine to sample, and seeing how the wine is produced is amazing!

Lovely Place

By MamaPeach2 |

This is a very lovely, well maintained winery and is a good stop for locals and out of towners. It's pretty in any season and even has heaters for some outside seating in the cool weather. If you're a flower lover, must see in summer! Also a great place to pick up a gift from the friendly, helpful staff. I enjoy every visit.

Great wine tasting

By c9017 |

The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the wine tasting and the variety. We ended up purchasing a couple bottles and cases.

They do allow kids but I would not recommend it. They have space to walk around but not much beyond that. It’s hard to enjoy a glass when you have to chase kids.

Wonderful public/private place for conversation. The hosts provide beautiful gardens and open space.

End of a wonderful era?

By meadowsdk |

I hear that the I-69 project is going to take out the winery. If that is true, it is a shame. Love this place. I remember when it was built. Great scenery, a good brand and an awesome little lake. be sure to feed the fish.

Beautiful location to visit

Well worth the trip if you are in the state. The location is stunning, with outdoor accommodations for eating and drinking.

It’s a beautiful winery with a lovely setting great place to go for an afternoon with friends or family. Enjoy wine and cheese plus other yummy food. They will set you up with an impromptu picnic to enjoy by the lake. Highly recommend

Finally made it to this winery and it was well worth the wait. Very friendly staff in a clean environment. Great wines and next time I will bring my own picnic basket!!

Beautiful location with many wines to taste

By Dorothy T |

Any time of year is a beautiful time to visit Oliver Winery. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, and the inside is welcoming. You can taste wines, take a tour, whatever you like. There is a pond you can sit by and enjoy snacks and wine. Truly relaxing.

One of my favorite wineries. Reserved tasting FTW!

By psudino |

We've been drinking wine from Oliver winery for years. We finally had the chance to visit the winery, so we did so with the Reserved tasting. The tasting was an excellent experience not only because I really enjoy the wine, but the woman who lead the tasting was informative, not snooty about the wine, and was just a great "tour guide" through our flights and the history of the winery.

The wine itself is excellent. I normally do not like sweeter wines, but I make an exception for the Sweet Red and the Lemon Moscato. The standard flavors are all so good you may wonder if you really are in Indiana. The ciders and the Pilot projects are excellent beverages and surprises from a winery. Finally, their Tawny may be my favorite port I've ever had.

Overall, this winery is a must visit if you are in the area and enjoy wine.

Must try! Something for everyone!

By Leila D |

Beautiful winery! Lots of wine to choose from! We did the tasting it was great! They have a beautiful picnic area with tables. The tasting you could mix on a dry flight or a sweet flight. I did some of each. Loved it! The 6.00 cheese add on was good too! Knowledge staff! The winery is in eastern time zone! Oops on my part traveling from a central time zone and not accounting for it! The staff help me move my reservation time, they also offered self guided flights! Make a day of it and take it slow and have fun!

Oliver Winery is a great place to visit. They produce great wines, some of which are grown locally (bottled under the Creek Bend name).

The landscaping is stunning. A wonderful place to hang out and visit. Our daughter and her friend enjoyed the wine tasting. While we watched the baby and the dog and enjoyed the view.

Family Get together!

By Rose P |

This is truly worthy of a day trip. The Grounds are beautiful, even during construction. We packed a picnic and sat on the porch while family wine tasted and shopped. On the weekends they play music and it really is a fun place to meet friends and pack some cheese and snacks, buy some wine and enjoy.

Beautifull setting for a picnic after wine tasting

By hellmbeck |

Indiana winery with some national recognition. Good wines if you are just beginning to explore wines. Mediocre wines or less for an experienced palate. The grounds are beautiful, nicely landscaped, and it's a wonderful spot for a picnic that you either bring or buy in the small grocery attached. Plenty of outdoor seating during the week, which can be challenging on a weekend. Nicest winery in Indiana.

Wonderful experience in february!

By Wither S |

Stopped in for the wine tasting and tour, walked out with several vintages and a specialty of their "Bubblecraft Red" Which was a fantastic authentic wine with an effervescent to give it a fizz, recommend very much for the casual wine enthusiasts!

Interesting Experience on Beautiful Grounds

By wetravelalot007 |

We met some friends here to spend an afternoon at this winery. We had not been to a winery before so we were interested to see what it was like. Our friends were quite accustomed to this experience, so they lead us through the process.

Our group started in an open outdoor porch and picnic area. We tried three different types of wines and chatted in this quiet yet beautiful backdrop. We did not eat here but seen many other groups eating some bread and other picnic foods. Once we had finished sampling the wines we had purchased, we decided to see how the wines were made. We joined in a group of 15 people and got the tour of the wine making facilities including information about the history of this winery and a discussion of its product. Our guide was quite energetic and full of interesting knowledge. The overall tour was around 45 minutes.

After the conclusion of the tour we went to an actual wine tasting. Where we were able to try 14 different types of wine that Oliver Winery actually makes and sells on location. It was very interesting and new experience for us. We actually were able to better understand what we like in wines. It was quite educational for us.

Overall we enjoyed our time here. We were educated and lubricated with the finest wines Oliver Winery has to offer. This was time well spent for us. Great way to spend an afternoon with a group of friends.

Great place

By wamzie |

We try to stop at Oliver every time we visit Bloomington. The staff is always very friendly and they have some amazing wine beyond the sweet stuff you find in the store. You can go on a tour, do a tasting, grab a bottle to drink outside on a picnic table by the lake, or all of the above.

Breath-taking gardens, masterfully landscaped surroundings, a mini-vacay for visitors or homies from Bloomington@

By Bloomington |

Oliver Winery is a gem in the Bloomington area, not to be missed by visitors who have time to enjoy not only the lovely wine-tasting area, so beautifully and tastefully done, or perhaps, sit on one of the lovely patios, looking out, over the lush gardens... or meandering down a beautifully wooded path to enjoy the patio-ed dock, stocked with fish which swim toward one as one stands, looking into the clean and well-aerated pond... A mini-vacay for those who love nature...artfully and masterfully designed and executed...just breath-taking! Perhaps, bring a picnic and sit in the shade of a picnic table while enjoying some wine? A lovely visit for families, singles, groups, or those just wanting to pass a lovely afternoon outdoors...or tasting wine inside. 5-stars, well-deserved!!!

Fun afternoon

By hunterthorpe |

This was interesting, fun, and surprising. We did a tasting, took the tour, and shipped several bottles of wine home.

Loved it!

By sarahnate |

When you walk in to the winery you are greeted by the big tasting table surrounded by wines and other things to purchase. I only recall seeing one table in this area. The rest of the tables are outside overlooking the grounds and lake. The workers were very professional and knowledgable about the history and wines, themselves. $5 dollars to taste 8 wines is a great deal and they were delicious!!

I wasn't sure what to expect since I was bringing my 17 month old. My husband and son stayed outside while my mom and I did the tasting. If your plan is to do the tasting, I don't recommend bringing kids unless they have someone to be with outside.... and the weather isn't bad. I can't wait to go back when its warmer and things are in bloom. Would love sitting outside and enjoying the wine. Would love to take the tour as well!

Quality in every aspect

By JuliaS-Juls |

I thoroughly enjoyed my tour of the Oliver Winery and the wine tasting. The drive up to the facility was picturesque and the building itself was so inviting. They have a wonderful selection to choose from and not only in wine. They have many cheeses, breads, crackers, etc., and stylish novelties such as coasters, bottle stoppers, and much more. I found the staff very friendly and knowledgeable.

Very relaxing experience

By PSKE |

Lovely grounds and relaxing setting once you get off the highway and into the gorgeous gardens in front. Tasting room feels like a California experience, and the back patio is a great place to have a glass of wine and some bread and cheese while you overlook the grounds.

Nice experience

By Mark R |

For $5 you can sample up to eight different types of wine. We selected three that were very nice. Nice decor. Very picturesque.

PERFECT WEDDING WINE

BOTANICAL GARDEN WALKING INTO A BEAUTIFUL WINERY

By BRBE001 |

This was absolutely beautiful to just walk through and see all the plants and readings of the types of plants they had along the walkway. There were also several other types of landscape artistry along the way - great for pictures!!! Then you are greeted as soon as you open the door to how you can view the winery - by doing a winery tasting of 8 different types/kinds and how to get in on a tour of the winery. There were so many wonderful things to buy besides the wines - jams/jellies/breads, etc. The outdoors are amazing - covered/not covered/ grass/ blankets or tables by the lake and just walking around. Very nice!!!

Gorgeous spot, great wine!

By Valerie M |

A wonderful date spot! Delicious wine and gorgeous well maintained grounds. Knowledgable staff and great tours and tastings. I wish there was more food available so we could hang longer without needing to go eat. Otherwise a wonderful place to spend the afternoon!

I went to Oliver Winery with my mom and sister-in-law. It is a BEAUTIFUL place, especially the lime stone and water falls. The wine of course is fabulous and I like that they have little munchies you get purchase as well. Definitely a must-do for those in the area.

Beautiful grounds and nice wine

By Wssloman |

We stopped on our way through Southern Indiana. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and serene. We tasted several wines and then purchase cheese, crackers and cookies to take to our final destination. Great setup and if we had more time we would have relaxed at the tables outside..

World class winery in Indiana

By Michael S |

Nestled along Highway 37 near Bloomington Indiana, Oliver Winery pours world class wines in a welcoming California style building. The wines fulfill a broad range of tastes and wallets. Our favorites are their dry reds.

Well worth a stop.

Gorgeous Scenery

By Nicholas K |

Oliver has to be one of the better things to do in Bloomington during a nice day. I took my mom here when she was in town and we did a wine tasting and after just got a bottle of wine to hang out by the lake that they have on the property with beautiful scenery during a great, sunny day.

Most Beautiful Winery in Indiana

By Artistic Lens |

Oliver Winery has the most beautiful grounds of any winery I've ever been to. The events they hold are a pleasure to attend and the wine is excellent to boot. I can't say enough good about this winery. If you have never been, a planned outing to this winery is a must!!

Wine a little bit; you'll feel better

By Beevee1 |

The grounds are beautiful to stroll and picnic for lunch or dinner. The tasting room is nice, but to small. Browsing is nice while you wait for an opening at the tasting bar. Tours of the facility are given on the weekends. Events are offered year round, some are free. Oh, the wine- it's award winning good.

Winery visit

By Sim S |

Oliver Winery is my favorite in the Bloomington/Nashville area. Very inviting, with beautiful surroundings. A large selection of wives, cheeses, and accoutrements. Something for everyone.

Wonderful winery featuring Midwestern flavored.

By Kathy T |

Oliver Winery is beautifully landscaped, architecturally pleasing, has friendly guides for inexpensive wine tasting, an outdoor patio with live entertainment and everything you need to make a gourmet picnic to go with the wine of your choice. Sweet grape varieties are grown in the Midwest so the wines are very fruity. Oliver creates and stocks a large variety of options as they bring in grapes from California to make their dryer varieties. The distilling process makes a big difference in the taste of the wine so ask which process your favorite selections are distilled in and try others matured that way for a really delicious afternoon of tasting!
Ample parking is free. Designated drivers get free soft drinks.

IMPRESSIVE

By Nancy P |

I was quite impressed with wine tasting, grounds, staff, the whole place. Oliver wines are smooth and delicious. After a tasting, we purchased cheese, crackers, and salami for a mini picnic. Most enjoyable day!

Great place

By psinned |

Very Informative bartender, an extensive wine menu and very reasonably priced.
Nice grounds we were there at Thanksgiving and it was a wonderful tour.
The air was crisp, leaves on the ground at a vineyards how much better does that get?

Beautiful spot for a picnic!

By Bobbie S |

Oliver has beautiful grounds to bring a picnic or pick something up at their store. The hosts were friendly and fun. The wine itself is lighthearted and interesting. This is not a place to explore the best wines in the world. It is a place to enjoy a fun array in a beautiful setting!

Fun Times!

By Roger B |

We made the journey to Oliver Winery to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was so much fun! The staff is well trained, kind, and cheerful. The wine tasting experience is fantastic and our wine guide even poured us a glass of their sparkling wine in honor of our anniversary (that was above and beyond our 8 allowed tastes!). We also dined at Oliver's barbecue restaurant on the patio. The food was tasty and the carafe of Sangria was delightful. The landscaping around the place is gorgeous, and you can enjoy a relaxing stroll on the grounds.

Take my advice...you should go and enjoy!

Wonderful afternoon at the winery

By Susan H |

Went with a group of friends and had a wonderful time. We took the tour, which was very interesting, and had a wonderful lunch. Different options for wine tasting, either a "sampler" or by the glass. The grounds are beautiful, and they had plenty of shady seating on the patio under an arbor (which was important as it was 90 degrees that day) As we were a group of 14, we called beforehand and arranged the affordable lunch and a reserved table big enough for all of us. The lunch spread was excellent, as were all the wines we sampled.

Fun even if you don't drink

By Sara D |

I don't drink wine hardly at all. But the grounds and the facilities are well worth a visit anyway. The wine tasting that I did do was nice and the man helping us was very patient with this non-drinker as I stumbled my way through the tasting. Grab a bottle, some bread and cheese and head outside to enjoy southern Indiana at it's finest.

Great place to relax with good wine.

By Daves W |

Great place to set back and have a glass of wine and enjoy the view. Unfortunately we missed our chance at the reserve tasting Next time we will make a reservation. The peach pie wine was like biting into a fresh peach. We will definitely not wait so long to visit.

Absolutely beautiful local winery

By 549mistis |

Oliver winery is one of the most beautiful places around Bloomington. Even if you are not a wine drinker you will enjoy the outstanding landscape and pond to pitch a blanket and have a picnic. The wine tasting room is just outstanding and beautiful I just can't say enough! Worth the trip. Summer concerts around the pond .......

Great wine and atmosphere

By Victoria D |

This winery is a nice place to visit for a wine tasting and purchase. Friendly employees and a great variety of wines.

Must see when in Bloomington area

By Jon |

Conveniently located with easy access off State Road 37. We were traveling back home from Southern Indiana on Father's Day and saw the sign for Oliver Winery. We decided to stop in and found that they were open and what a pleasant surprise. A beautiful garden setting. We took the tour, and it was very informative. We learned a lot about wine making along with the history of Oliver Winery. We highly recommend that you take the tour! It you want to participate in the wine tasting and it will cost you $5.00 for tasting of 8 wines. That is reasonably priced as far as wine tasting goes.

As I said in the title, this is a must see when in the Bloomington area.

Beautiful place..

By Lance E |

Had a day out with my wife, drove 3 hours to visit, completely worth it. Great wine great area, great visit.. Free tastings and beautiful all around..

We'll Keep Coming Back to Oliver Winery!

By Elaine61 |

This was our second trip there. We absolutely love this winery. The tastings are reasonable and the staff is knowledgeable about the wines. The atmosphere is very welcoming and after the tasting we bought a case for home and a bottle to share outside. Their outdoor area is beautiful. There are different tiers that back up to trees with plenty of seating. It was very enjoyable. We will keep coming to this winery. It has wonderful wines and beautiful area to enjoy it.

A winery turned into a destination to visit

By Tom R |

This winery has progressed over the years to a destination spot for drop in travelers, wedding parties, a snack on their patio, beautiful gardens with massive stones from a local quarry, and an ambience that makes you want to buy a bottle and head to their patio to just take in the scene and enjoy an afternoon. A great place to visit. Wine runs anywhere from below $10.00 for red or white to mid $20.00 for a specific such as cab or many other types of wine.

Day out

By slibbel2 |

Very helpful staff and beautiful place to walk around. They have several wines that are not sold in stores. Has tastings area to help narrow down favorites.

Frequent Flyer of OW

By Kelly C |

I visit OW often (wine tastings, sharing a bottle on the patio with friends when bands are playing, corporate lunch, family gatherings, or just a quick stop for some wine before Sunday sales were an option) I've never had a bad experience and it's always a delightful time.

Great visit, as always!!

By vanessa b |

We always enjoy our visit to Oliver. The day we went was a very crowded day, but we were able to get in and have a little wine tasting and our children enjoyed visiting the ponds

A great destination

By Linda W |

This winery has become a repeat stop for me and my bff's on our yearly Labor Day weekend trek. They have such a variety of wine choices to taste test and to purchase. Last year we did the wine tasting and the tour, this year we did the wine tasting and enjoyed the terraced veranda for crackers, cheese and a newly purchased bottle of wine.
The staff is very helpful, very friendly and the store has lots of wine products to choose from for either take home or drink on site.

You Oughta go to Oliver’s in Autumn

By Valaria D |

Came in a little over 30 minutes til “close,” for two walk-in, $5 wine tastings, and were told it’d be a 20 minute wait. The better half registered us for our eight tastings and we wandered the grounds. Lovely, jovial atmosphere with the autumn leaves, and the chance to drink their beverages out in the vineyard.

We got an automated text message saying our spot at the tasting was available. By the time we looked at the clock again, it was 20 - 30 minutes after close. The house, while customer numbers dwindled appropriately, was still full-service and we walked out with 3 cold bottles of their finer wares.

Greatly appreciated for a rain-day birthday excursion running on Chicago-time.

Wine tour

By Kathy B |

The grounds are absolutely beautiful! Paid $5 for 8 tastings and found two wines I will stock in my home forever.

Perfect day

By Sheila F |

We had a great time at this beautiful place. The reserved tasting on the patio was really nice. Good wine for many different tastes.

Beautiful property

By Januarybride01 |

Went to the winery on a recommendation from this website. The property is gorgeous. I do want to point out that you have to put your name in (reservations) upon arrival to do a wine tasting. The wait was one hour. So in the meanwhile, what do you do? Being our first time there, we didn’t know what wines we would like so we didn’t want to just randomly grab a bottle. Just a strange way of doing things. We actually left. They had live music which was good but too loud for conversation. Also had a food truck which is super cool. Would go back but earlier in the day to try to beat the crowds.

Great afternoon

By LoriW30 |

Enjoyed a late afternoon with family and friends at the winery. Large assortment of wines to taste, and able to buy cheeses and crackers with some wine to enjoy at the outdoor areas. Beautiful ponds and flowers. Fully enjoyed the. Laid back day. There are tables and picnic tables to spread out. We also enjoyed the winery tour. We enjoyed it so much we left with a case of wine to take home to Maryland.

Little Did I Know

By orvilla |

Little did I know that Oliver Winery had such a diverse selection of wines. I've always enjoyed the soft red on my trips to visit daughters at IU. Today, I explored all the delicious and elegant wines that Oliver has to offer with help from Andrew at Oliver.

Andrew was very educated in all the grapes grown on the winery as well as all the various combinations and products available. To his credit, My husband likes "fruit"'drinks and I like a good Argentinian Malbec. Now how would you handle this....well Andrew did a great job. Provided me with the perfect selections and offered my husband his "fruit drinks" as well. Thankfully, it is the fall season and there were several seasonal wines for him to enjoy including Apple Pie.

Now I wouldn't normally enjoy something like the apple pie but I have to say serve it up with some vanilla icecream and/or heated up on its own and you have a tasty selection that truly tastes like apple pie.

Now I on the other hand...chose a Creekbend Tawny and Creekbend Chambourcin. The Tawny is a dessert wine with a butterscotch caramel bourbon flavor and the Creekbend Chambourcin reminded me somewhat of a Malbec with an oak barrel flavor. There were many others to choose from, something for everyone's tastebuds.

The tasting room is clean and welcoming and there is a vast selection of wines from dessert wines, semi dry wines to sparkling wines and the seasonal selections. After our tasting we sat on the patio and enjoyed grapes and crackers along with another glass of Creekbend Chambourcin. One suggestion would be to pack up your own picnic and enjoy the scenery. The grounds are beautiful and a great place to sit back and enjoy.

Thank you to Andrew for spending time with us and encouraging my husband to try new things. We had a wonderful time.

By 2hotred |

One of the few Indiana Wineries that really embraces both dry and sweet wines. I've drank wine all over the world and visited wineries in Michigan, Napa and Italy and I would put Oliver reds up against them any day. My favorite is the 2011 Chambourcin. Supplies are limited so stock up soon.

Amazing winery with many awards and 50+ years of history

By Naomi D |

What a beautiful and HUGE property in southern IN. We were blown away by the beauty of the property, snd the staff was amazing. We were encouraged to bring in our own little picnic lunch of the Monday we visited. The grounds were just breathtaking with the fall colors and the HUNDREDS (perhaps THOUSANDS?!) of pumpkins! We finished a bottle of Blueberry Moscato which we both loved, and spent about 3 hours on a gorgeous fall afternoon.

Fun day trip!

Gorgeous ground, fun atmosphere and great priced wines! We had so much fun watching the grape stomp contest and enjoying the live music! We also enjoyed our sampling of 8 wines for only $5! This is a must stop if you are a wine fan.

What a delightful time

By Steve J |

We just came back from a wonderful family reunion that among other things, took in Oliver Winery, and what a wonderful time we had. Everyone that was working there, and there were many, were very kind and helpful. The selection of wines were all very good and quite tasty. They have a wide range of wines that will accommodate any wine lover. They also have a very nice selection of cheese's, crackers, and some other snackables. The landscaping around the winery is delightful and the setting is very relaxing overlooking a lake. It is a great place to go and spend an afternoon and just relax and unwind. Way to go Oliver, and we look forward to returning and enjoying the new retractable outdoor roof that is being put in place.

Amazing Trip to The Winery

By Hannah R |

I've been to a few wineries and this one is by far my favorite. Friends and I went for their wine tastings (4.67 per person plus tax for 8 wines! So cheap!) The wine tasting process is very fun. Guides will pour your wines, describe them to you, and recommend wines suited for your tastes. This in itself earns the Winery a good review, but there's more...

The grounds at the Winery are absolutely gorgeous. It's a treat to just walk around the grounds. Some weekends they even have live music!

The Winery offers a variety of wines, wine accessories, tours, tastings, and everything in between. Everyone was nice and friendly! I ended up even buying 3 bottles of wine! (The blueberry and cherry moscatos are to die for!) Ultimately, I highly recommend a visit to Oliver Winery!

Beautiful grounds

By hollisPennsylvania |

Spent a couple of hours here on a Friday afternoon. The sangria was good but could have been colder (and a little bit of fruit is always nice,). Nice areas to sit,but it was warm and there are plenty of bees. (Obviously not the fault of the vineyard). Staff was friendly.

Fun afternoon

By Kristin B |

Oliver is the perfect place to spend an afternoon, especially in the spring and fall. There are two tasting places (sometimes 3 when it is busy) If you face the lake there is a building to the left which usually has less people with the same tastings. On the patio they usually have live music too! So pack your cheese and crackers, buy a bottle and enjoy Bloomington.

truly a wonderful experience. beautiful landscaping. excellent picnic grounds. good live music. great wine. will definitely go back.

Absolutely Lovely

Love coming here for tastings. The outdoor patio is beautiful every time and the staff is so helpful!

Wine tasting experience

By teamsnardy |

Dont miss the Oliver experience. Great selection of all varieties including hard-to-find categories like hard cider (hold my beer Strongbow). The tasting room is complete with high end picnic like foods to enjoy on the many shaded outdoor eating areas.

Great way to spend an afternoon

By raharvey9 |

Oliver Winery is a beautiful facility and the grounds are gorgeous, especially when the spring flowers start to bloom. You can have a lovely, unhurried tasting and then relax on the deck with a glass of your favorite wine. There is entertainment on summer weekends. Overall, it’s a very pleasant experience. Most of the wine is good, but not great.

35 anniversary

By JacquiM4 |

We just finished a wine tasting bar-side with Caroline. The wines were delicious although my husband’s favorites were the cider, the mead, and the Tawny. The star of the tasting was Caroline. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. She served us, a group of four and covered her coworker’s group when she went to get supplies. The scenery and wines are a draw but personable servers are your true assets.

We are now enjoying our scheduled picnic. Anna Grace is another top notch server. We are sipping the Gewurztraminer while enjoying the cheeses, fruits, and other assorted goodies. Thank you for a lovely day.

Beautiful Location for an outing

By James W |

The winery has a lake and a offers wines and cheese platters. There are tastings available everyday. Excellent selection of wines available.

Wonderful way to spend your day!

By Life2Travel |

We have been here a few times, each season brings a special look to the beautiful grounds at this winery. Our first time was in the fall and the grounds and building were in fall bloom. The next time we returned with family in the winter and it was still beautiful. The wine tasting is always fun with knowledgeable staff and a reasonable price. We always find we are drinking more than what we paid for. They have a nice selection of wines from sweet to dry, red and white as well as food and gifts. I generally do not like sweet wine, but really enjoy their famous mead in many different flavors. If you have the time, also take the tour of their wine making facilities. They have a large lovely patio out back, so do the tasting, pick a bottle and enjoy in out back on their patio overlooking their beautiful grounds. Plenty of free parking. Highly recommended!

Buy your wine and enjoy a picnic by the pond

By chris |

I would give this a solid 3.5 stars for “good” if that was an option. The setting was beautiful. They offer a wide selection of wines. The service was meh and you must close out your tab, including gratuities when you order. The charcuterie board was overpriced and I would not recommend. $23 for a few slices of cheese, some grapes, dried fruit, Melba toast and nuts. We asked our server for a couple extra pieces of the bread to finish off the cheese and fig jam only to be told the kitchen was closed (@5:30) but we could purchase more crackers from their store in Iside. They do have a sign that states “we welcome you to bring a picnic and enjoy the picnic area (which is lovely) and I would highly recommend. But your favorite wine and enjoy the lovely view of the quaint pond in the picnic area.

Move over Napa Valley; here come the Hoosiers

By Charles H |

Never expected to find such a cool winery in Indiana of all places, but on the other hand we've heard that there are wineries in all 50 states (55 states if you listen to Barack). The extra treat for us - due to a fortuitous mistake - was that we drove to the VINEYARD instead of the winery; and then had an interesting drive through the hilly countryside to get to the winery; and we thoroughly enjoyed the adventure.

Beautiful Setting and Splendid Wine

By Beth M |

The setting was beautiful. Lovely garden, grounds and deck. Wine tasting was a great value. Staff very knowledgeable and helpful. Wines were delicious and reasonably priced. It was a lovely way to pass and afternoon in Bloomington!

Beautiful setting and great winery

By Loud1Canberra |

Stopped as we needed to feed my daughter's baby and what a great choice. The winery is in a wonderful garden setting and the cellar door friendly, large and staff welcoming. Spent some time tasting wine, bought some wine and cheese and enjoyed the atmosphere. A great place to stumble across.

Favorite Winery

By Jen M |

Oliver Winery is a must stop for me whenever I'm in the area. The grounds are beautifully kept - you feel like you are on an estate. There is outdoor seating to enjoy nature, eat, and drink wine. The tasting area is fantastic! I've never had a bad experience and will continue to return when I'm in the area. If you haven't tried it yet, you must try the Catawba wine and the Catawba sparkling wine.

Wonderful winery

My husband and I stopped by last week and were so happy we did. Gorgeous grounds, great staff and delicious wine. What a delightful way to spend some time on a mini-vacation!

Fun and delicious

By Rick B |

One of the must visit places of Bloomington. The wine tasting is educational and tasty. Our wine server invested a lot of time to explain the different varieties and pairing them up with what we enjoyed.

There is also a lot of gifts available from cheeses to designer gear, plates, wine accessories and much more. In the summertime we enjoy sitting outside by a private pond with picnic tables. A place to relax and make great memories!

Great fun

Love these wines! The Catawbas are excellent ! Beautiful location and the landscaping is unbelievable ! Great staff and friendly service!

Wedding wine!

There was a last minute change to the plans for alcohol for my wedding. Three days before I stopped into Oliver and they met all my needs and were very helpful in letting me taste and purchase all in less than 20mins! Beautiful grounds and interior also!

Great surprise in Indiana with both local and sourced wines. Botanical gardens are a photographer’s dream. Highly recommended excursion and must visit if you are in Bloomington!

Great wine tasting with professional staff

By sjc600316 |

The wine tasting experience is fantastic. We spent $5 to try 8 different kinds of wine. The winery staff has good knowledge of different kinds of wine. They are very helpful. They ask us questions to help us find the wine we like. You can also find some special wine that won't be seen in any other stores. The blueberry moscato and blackberry are two of our favorites. They even carefully pack our wine in a cardboard box to protect it.

Very informative wine tasting!

By Tricia C |

The setting was beautiful and the frozen waterfall was picture perfect. Would love to come back in the summer. The staff was very informative about the wines and every wine we tasted was very good.

Perfect afternoon

By Juice17995 |

It has been several years since we have gone to Oliver - and we were very impressed!

The amount of wines have greatly improved, no longer just the sweet Indiana varieties! The tasting room is great, and not too crowded.

Bring lunch and buy a bottle of wine for a great afternoon.

Kid friendly, we plan on being friends and kids next time for a day trip from Indy.

The ambiance was very pretty, calm, great landscape, really nice place to visit if you are in the area. would recommend a stop by for some good wine tasting.

Indiana...wine country?

By RMH462 |

Took a visit to see my daughter and her friends at Indiana University. Special occasion of a 21st birthday! What a better way to celebrate but to introduce college girls to a variety of wines. We did the $5.00 tasting which allowed us to taste 8 different wines from Oliver's Winery. It was so much fun! We had our own guide to answer questions about the wines and she gave us her full attention. Though it was January...the grounds are still beautiful and must be spectacular in the Fall.
There is an outdoor heated patio where you can buy a bottle and sit comfortably enjoying the surroundings. We all walked out buying at least one bottle of wine.
It was a wonderful time and would go back again. My favorite was the new release Zinfandel. Rich, warm...good for the soul.

Great Winery

By Klassikatt |

This is great Winery. We stop here whenever we're in the area. We stopped in January to see if they had any new wines and did a tasting. Hadn't planned to buy any but ended up with several bottles. Stop in, you'll be glad you did.

Lovely place to spend an afternoon

By ParTcake |

I have been stopping here and driving by for 30+years but it has been awhile since I visited. What a treasure in the area near Indiana university. We brought a picnic, bought some wine and cheese, and enjoyed the grounds. Tasted some delicious wines and to see the large crowd of tasters was interesting.

Wine Tasting

By tako59 |

The primary reason for choosing Bloomington for a weekend getaway was because we tried a bottle of their wine and decided to visit the winery. We were pleasantly surprised by the variety of wines that they offered.

Since you purchase a tasting, you get to choose 8 wines from their list. For an additional price, you may try the dessert wines. My husband and I tried different wines, so we tried 16 wines in all. I was surprised by how good they were. We were especially surprised that they had ice wine.

The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the product.

After the tasting, we walked about the lovely grounds and sat by the pond to enjoy the flora and fauna. If we go back, we will certainly take a picnic lunch to enjoy there on the grounds.

Just a word of caution...if you venture down by the pond, one of the fauna that we saw was a copperhead in the water. We left him alone and he left us alone. I just want to pass it on because there were several families there and small children can be quite curious. That being said, don't let that hinder you from enjoying their beautiful grounds.

A good visit

By The4JSmiths |

Oliver Winery is one of the places to go in Bloomington. The wine is average at best, but the property is great. You could spend several hours there and not regret it.

Wonderful atmosphere

By MegB78 |

We visited Oliver on a couple's weekend and did the wine tasting. The grounds were stunningly beautiful in October, so we spent time outside walking around, takin it all in. We enjoyed it so much we went back the next day for another round of tasting. The menu is expansive, so we easily tasted different wines, never repeating. We went home with 4 bottles of wine, and we love them all! I saw families there with kids and babies, which surprised me. I wouldn't take my kids there. We will definitely be going back soon!

We had a wine tasting visited and explored the outdoor grounds. The outdoor area is a nice place to explore and a great background for family pictures . Make a reservation as all of the tastings and picnics were booked the day we were there.

Wine Tasting at the Winery on highway 37 North of Bloomington

By Shocktop53 |

A very good experience. The owner Bill was our host the day of our tasting. We toured the facility and tasted many great wines. They have imported grapes from California and their own vineyard as well. A very impressive facility and beautiful grounds with a nice lake and large local hard wood trees. A must see when in Bloomington, Indiana.

A great place to stop and relax before taking in a basketball game at IU. Taste the many blends of great wine available. This day, place was packed. Plenty of workers available to assist. Nice close in parking. Beautiful landscape grounds which would be great to enjoy in warm weather. Taste 8 wines for $5.00. Nice showroom. Tours. Just a great place to visit and relax. BTW. Wine is good also.

What a great winery. I love Shiraz! Husband loves this sweet red rose. Did a wine flight and enjoyed them all. Lovely outside atmosphere- great place to "get away" with sweetheart and enjoy the afternoon and some wine!

Idyllic setting; tasty wine

By Kirk N |

Beautiful setting, clean facility, friendly staff. Good wine variety. A highlight of our trip.

We went on a Monday, just after they opened. Would likely be very busy on the weekends, especially for IU home sporting events.

Excellent Tasting

By Jim_atl |

We stopped at Oliver on our way to Bloomington from the Indy airport. I have been there many times before, but have not reviewed it before. It was the first time for my friend. We had a great tasting with many tastes and some good wines. My friend was impressed and we are both wine people and had just been in California tasting wine the prior week. The tasting room is large and impressive with many people visiting. The tasting is $5 for eight tastings, but we were offered more tastings and given some double tastings to compare different wines and vintages. There are many wines to choose from and should have something for everyone, including dry, semi-sweet, and sweet wines. They also have cheese and freshly baked bread for purchase. They offer free tours quite often during the day. During good weather there are seats available outside with good views. Overall, it is an excellent experience and surprisingly good for a winery in Indiana. I plan to return again on my next visit to Bloomington.

Very nice and lots of fun!

By oODouglasOo |

This place is beautiful inside and out! Very friendly staff and lots of delicious wine! They also have meads and hard cider. Easy to spend a lot of time here. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff helping you to pick your wines. Our only regret is that we have been going to Brown County for 20 years and have never drove the the short 40 minutes here. Dumb very dumb but we have found the error of our ways!! They helped us pick a restaurant to eat at in town (Bloomington) as well. We will be back!!

Wine tasting event

By Theresa F |

We did the wine tasting event that our kids gave us for Christmas. Overall, it was okay but we felt very rushed. In fact, the presenters told us more than once “we aren’t trying to rush you but..” The snack/cheese plate was delicious and we enjoyed the wine.

Amazing!!

By Kristine K |

I visited Oliver in September of 2018. Such a beautiful area. The atmosphere was wonderful, very helpful staff. The wine is amazing!!

Great environment for good wine

By jendle |

Although it was packed when we got there, the tasting room is bright and cheery. The wine is all totally drinkable. They have a nice selection of cheeses, meats and crackers for picnicing. And lovely jars of spreads and mustards to bring home with your wine. The grounds are beautiful. It's a shame about the highway along the side. They should consider planting more evergreen trees to shelter the lovely gardens and pond. We really liked the "winehenge" stone feature at the entrance. It was a great day with friends.

First and definitely no our last visit!

By lsant38 |

This review will entail my our first experience with Oliver Winery.

Wow. Simply wow. This place is great! My wife and I have recently found an interest in wine and it had peaked our interest to start visiting some of the local wineries in our area. I believe we were both pleasantly surprised by how serene and how elegant this winery was in comparison to others we have been to.

We attended on a Sunday during a Jazz performance so everything was pretty cramped. Luckily they had two tasting rooms available to accommodate the increased volume of guests.

We will for sure be going to Oliver's again soon.

Great Wine, Great Staff, and Great Fun

By LaDonnaann |

This is my all time favorite winery. I love visiting when I get to make a trip back home. And I usually bring several bottles back with me. The wine is awesome! My favorite is the Oliver Soft Red. The prices are very good and the staff is even better! This is definitely with a stop and visit if you are in the Bloomington area!

Great place to enjoy wine and friends

By Bill F |

We went to Oliver's winery for their Sunday afternoon jazz. We purchased some wine and brought our lunch. The setting is wonderful, gorgeous grounds You could sit on the patio/porch or in the grassy area near the pond. There is a large assortments of wines from dry to sweet to taste. Everyone was very helpful. The wine may not rival Napa valley, but neither do the prices. Value is very good.

Decked out for the holidays..

By Shocktop53 |

It is always fun to visit the winery North of Bloomington, The Oliver family has done a fantastic job in creating a destination for wine connoisseurs traveling through the area and for all of us special locals. The staff is always knowledgeable of the products and the sampling is always very enjoyable..

Beautiful grounds

You can try 8 wines for $5. That’s a bargain. Since we are not from the area they mailed the wine home to us for a $1 a bottle. Great deal and let us enjoy there delicious wine at home too.

Very nice!

By Cynthia K |

Originally I was going to do a wine tasting, but it seemed pricey. We walked around the outside & admired the flowers, then went in & bought some wine!
It looked like you could also do an event here.

What a wonderful winery

By Carla G |

Where to start. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. They have taken great care to see that every visit is a truly enjoyable experience. Weather permitting, they have benches all around the grounds to sit and partake in their wonderful wines. They also have an Outdoor Bar with tastings, in addition to the indoor tasting area. They have a nice size store around the indoor tasting area, with different cheeses, meats, and anything that you can pair with wine. We were warmly greeted at the door and the greeter took time to find out what we wanted out of our experience. We actually took the FREE tour of the facilities and our guide was very knowledgeable. I STRONGLY suggest the tour and tastings! It was an extremely enjoyable experience and I can't wait to go back.

Pleasant Afternoon of Wine Tasting

By Trekster1 |

The Oliver Winery is locally owned and operated in the Bloomington area. The wine tasting room is large with very tall ceilings -- lovely, rich wood and pretty windows. Customers can walk up to the bar where vintners pour samples for the wine tasting. Affordably priced and a wide variety of reds, whites, blushes and other wines are available. Of course, the wine is sold by the bottle. A small gift area is stocked with wine accessories, wine racks, cheeses and other items. The Winery also has a lovely outdoor seating area. The entrance to the winery is unique with limestone formations and waterfalls ... beautiful green plants and bright flowers decorate the facility in the Spring and Summer. An affordable, fun way to spend a weekend afternoon with friends.

Disappointed

By Chaspen |

We have gone to this winery for years. It used to be a laid back, casual experience and environment. Not anymore. You have to stand in line, most of the seating is reserved and it has a corporate feel. Just keep your card out because that’s what is expected.

We used to have some taste, grab a bottle of wine and find a place to enjoy the water. Not anymore.

Beautiful Winery

By lporter77 |

A beautiful location with a nice tasting room, outdoor seating and a small pond to enjoy a glass or bottle of wine. The Creekbend selections are our favorites. Many very nice wines to choose.

Love the wine tasting!

By Nancy U |

My friends took me here while in Bloomington. I love going on wine tours and this was was great. The room was quaint inside with the barrels and the lady teaching us was very knowledgable and you can tell loved her job and the company. We continued on to buy a glass of wine and walk around the beautiful grounds. They have some wines that are exclusive to the winery such as their Mead which I loved and others you can get at your local store. I was so happy to see that Total Wine in Florida sold Oliver Wine. Highly recommend for an afternoon adventure.

Love everything about this place

By Patrick G |

Do yourself a favor and visit. Even if you have to go a half hour out of your way. You will be glad you did. Nothing negative I can say about this place

Incredibly beautiful landscaping

By ThatRoad |

I have taken groups all over the country to various wineries. Oliver Winery has by far the most beautiful in landscaping of any in the country. Also magnificent is their huge tasting room and large outdoor patio. Surrounding the main building are marvelous plants (many labeled) and a small lake. The lake area surrounding has picnic tables or space to throw a private blanket. The outdoor patio is shaded and free entertainment something greets the visitors. The tasting room offers marvelous wines, plus a wide variety of cheeses, breads, meats and gifts. This is the perfect spot for a relaxing afternoon or handy to pick up wine for your dinner party. Many of their best wines are only available at the winery. They do ship if requested.

ONE OF THE BEST

By MARK D |

My husband and I love to visit wineries and Oliver is one of our favorites. Even in the dead of winter we thoroughly enjoyed our last visit. Some wineries have stopped describing their wines as we taste them but never at Oliver. Lynda G absolutely loved her job and talking about their wines.( which are pretyy much our favorite of any winery we have been to). During warmer weather the grounds offer many sitting areas where you can enjoy your own food. The buildng and grounds are beautiful.

Wonderful time & Beautiful Views!

By Daphne N |

I love that the staff everywhere you meet, are so upbeat and excited about show, tell and tasting, even though they've done it hundreds of times! Beautiful place and just so happens to be the home of my favorite wine <3

This is our favorite winery

By Brad D |

Oliver has really good wine, and is a very pretty winery to visit. There is a lot of seating as well as picnicking areas around their pond

They don't have a ton of food options, mostly cheese trays ... They don't have a kitchen, but you can bring your own lunch if you wish.

We stop through any time we are in town and stock up. Stop by if you are in the area, you won't be disappointed!

Still the best!

By Pwill54 |

Indiana has many great wineries. Some have great wines, some fantastic locations, live music, some have wonderful people working at their wineries, but Oliver Winery has ALL of these. We always love coming here and would recommend Oliver Winery to anyone.

We've been coming to Oliver Winery for almost 20 years. We've watched it grow from a small roadside tasting space to the lovely oasis it is today. Well worth the stop.

"Not your father's winery!"

By bloomcrew |

We visited the winery yesterday during a trip to IU. Had not been at this winery since the late 1980"s. WOW- this place is fantastic. From the minute you drive down the lane to the property, you are surrounded by a beautiful, tranquil environment. You will not even realize it is right off the highway.

The grounds are hands down one of the prettiest settings in the state. Fantastic plantings, water features, stone sculpture, trees, flowers, and a beautiful lake. The tasting room is impressive. large center "island" tasting area that can accommodate probably 20 people at once.

The wine tasting is SO reasonable. For $5, you can select 8 different wines to taste. These are pretty generous pours for tastes! The staff we encountered were all so friendly and helpful. They help you select wines to taste based on your preferences. There are great little crackers to eat between wines. Really helped clear the palate.

I was especially surprised at the quality of the wines. They still have the sweet wines from the 80's, but they also have a good selection of drier, more sophisticated wines now. Really, something for everyone. I particularly enjoyed the Dry Red Blend, which is a mix of cab and syrah. This one will make a great table wine, and at $12 a bottle, is very well priced.

You could seriously make a whole afternoon or evening at this place. We didn't take the tour due to time constraints, but will do that next time. Go do the tasting. Buy a bottle and some cheese/snacks. Make yourself comfortable on one of their numerous shaded decks overlooking the grounds and lake. What a little piece of heaven! We will definitely be back!

Stumbled Upon Oliver Winery

By Deborah K |

Happened to drive past Oliver Winery on our way from Indy to Bloomington & what a pleasant surprise that was. Great tasting area inside. Nice gift shop area and beautiful gardens. We plan on going back sometime soon. I highly recommend checking out Oliver Winery when in the Indianapolis or Bloomington area. Beautiful setting and some nice wine, too!

A new favorite for us

By Luckyone2002 |

We are extremely choosy about our wine - we basically like dry red or sometimes white, but that's about it, and we have our favorite vineyard trail in Southern Illinois with all-time favorite vineyards. But this was our first trip to Nashville, Indiana, and so I selected a couple of vineyards to try - Oliver being the only one we ended up and stayed at all of one wonderful September afternoon. In fact, we had plans to return to downtown Nashville to stroll through shops after going to Oliver, and that never happened. ;) Instead, we found many excellent wines, locally grown (always a plus in our book), at Oliver. The building, the grounds, the wines, the weather (which was perfect on that day), all wowed us and we found a new favorite vineyard. Hope to return sometime!

Fun visit!

By Emily M |

We visited Oliver Winery on Friday and had a great visit. We did the guided wine sampling and the free walking tour. Really enjoyed all the wines we had during our sampling (make sure you try the creekbend catawba and the bubble crafts!) and the tour was quite informative. Beautiful grounds to walk and explore. Looking forward to our next visit back!!

Wine tasting perfection!

By PatorBob |

What more could you want? Beautiful setting, wide range of wines, snacks, gifts! This is a fun place to spend time with friends or out of town guests. It is always on my "tour" when I have visitors.

Indiana Classic

By Mark W |

I have visited this place for over 30 years! They have a truly wonderful setting and property. Wine tasting used to be free and still is if you make a purchase. They have very good wine's and a great lake and place to have as Yogi Bear would say a great Pic A Nick area! Enjoy cheese, crackers and wine near the lake on a Sunday afternoon. I would recommend it to anyone! I will add that the I-69 construction is a pain but its worth the drive. Indiana is a dry state on Sundays except for places like this. You can buy wine on Sunday at Indiana Wineries.

Great Wines in a Beautiful Setting!

Oliver's is right on the highway just north of Bloomington. Access is easy and it is always beautiful with lovely gardens, a large pond, and winery tours. Their wines are delightful, something for every taste and friendly sampling to help you select just what you want. Stopping there is an experience, totally pleasant.

Fun way to spend a day

By 512debbiea |

We visited Oliver Winery with a group of moms and daughters from IU. It was a gorgeous property and the wine tasting was so fun. The employees were helpful and knowledgeable about the various wines and it made the tasting very informative and educational. We brought a picnic lunch and ate on the deck. It was a lovely day.

A Must Visit

By Joy G |

Everything at Olivery Winery is lovely. The gardens are worth a visit. Stop by for a wine tasting or a bit more. We love it at all seasons of the year. Beautiful place for great picture taking. The selection of their wine is always superb and well-priced. We have been many times. Their pumpkins and display are special in the fall.

Great atmosphere great product but needs wider distribution in restaurants in Bloomington and surrounding areas. Breweries do a much better job of this. We want to see Oliver in all the great restaurants in town!

Wonderful wine tasting experience in limestone country

By geojimmy |

My visit was on November 2, 2019 with my daughter who a student at IU. She is 20 so she could not participate in the tasting. She was allowed to watch and listen, which thrilled me and made her enjoy the experience. The tasting of 8 wines chosen from the majority of their stock was at a cost of only $5. This weekend was a busy weekend in Bloomington as many sororities and fraternities had their dad's weekend, as well as an IU football game. Although my winery visits are very limited, it is easy to tell that the employees of Oliver Winery are world class. They do their homework on what they carry and convey that to their customers. The landscaping is centered on huge limestone blocks that have been cut from local quarries. The entire property is beautiful. They had a separate room to enjoy purchased wine with friends and family. There are also outside sitting areas for customers. My daughter was so impressed at the obvious fun experience that she texted one of her of age sorority sisters to suggest that it would be a fun outing for the older sisters. I did not leave with any wine but do intend to come back again with my wife. I have to say that this is the best $5 I've spent in a very long time and I highly suggest this be at the top of any one's to do list. It would be a tragedy to have a child at IU and never come here, even if you rarely drink alcohol as in my case.

I've visited Oliver since the 80's. It was just a small little tasting room then with a small area for picnics. Now, the grounds are beautiful and expansive and the tasting area is large with a good selection of picnic items. Oh yes, they have wine too. :) The wine is great, some of the best in the state. There is a wine club you can join which is a great way to sample wines even when you are away. Twice a year, spring and fall, you get a shipment of bottles. If you are anywhere near Bloomington you will want to stop by for some tasting and a tour of the grounds. You'll agree as well, this place is well worth the trip.

Oliver has a beautiful winery. We did the wine tasting. The staff was very knowledgeable and helped us choose the best wines to taste.
Highly recommend!

Abundant Selection of Quality Wines

By mrsgarcia01 |

We really enjoyed our visit here! Beautiful grounds and tasting room! We really enjoy dry, red wines and they have a great selection of quality reds to try. I purchased a bottle of their Estate Pinot Noir, and I also really enjoyed their Traminette wine. They also offer several different varieties of mead, and although it was a bit too sweet for me I enjoyed the unique flavor!

Enjoyable time

By Catherine J |

Went with family for the wine tasting. There were five of us and we had no wait. We were there on a Saturday morning around 11:15. That’s a good time to get there. The staff is wonderful! They were friendly, patient, and very knowledgeable. The grounds are beautiful! Highly recommended!

Best Stop on the Indiana Wine Trail

By Brenda L |

Oliver does a good job at designing their winery in the classic California style, and their wines are serious business. Traminette and Moscato are the serious wines, with several others that are truly top notch. We enjoy stopping by there any chance we get.

Visit with friends

By Manderson97 |

This is a beautiful winery. The landscaping is stunning. The winery itself is beautiful and has a patio area where you can enjoy a glass of wine, the day we were there live music was also playing. There is a really pretty lake that our older kids went down and visited while we were enjoying a tasting. The wines are very good and very reasonably priced.

So pretty

By tscheblo |

Just walking from our car to the front door, there were so many pretty flowers to appreciate. Peonies and iris were in full glory and made for great photo opportunities. No wine tasting available at the time we visited due to COVID-19. The lady in the retail shop was friendly and engaging. Hand sanitizer was available for use. The grounds weren't open so this was a short visit. We will be back!

Absolutely Delightful!

By bglein |

A lovely winery sitting directly off State Road 37 in Southern Indiana gives travelers and locals a chance to sample local wines in a beautiful setting. The winery sits next to a small lake surrounded by woods and the vineyard. There is a tour of the winery where you learn about the process it takes to turn the grapes into wine, and In the tasting room you can sample their many different offerings with crackers and the whiff of coffee beans to cleanse the palate and nose. Or, you can purchase a bottle of your favorite wine and some nice cheese and crackers and sit on the lovely patio or out by the lake. Just remember, someone has to drive home!

Great Winery!

By Diane S |

If you love wine this is the place to go. For $5 you can taste 6 different wonderful wines. You can also buy a bottle (1 for 2 people) and they'll give you glasses and open the wine to enjoy outside in a beautifully landscaped area with seating. Some accoutrements can be purchased to go along with your wine. This is a great place to spend a few hours on a nice day!

Lovely Midwest Winery

Bloomington IN is a great small town to visit, with many sights related to the University there. Oliver Winery is just north of town and has beautiful gardens, pond, picnic area and outdoor patio seating. Large wine tasting bar with knowledgable attendants. Great relaxing place to spend some time with a glass of wine. They do have live music scheduled at times, but not when I was there.

Great stop on the way to Bloomington

By Katy M |

I visited Oliver Winery with my boyfriend on a trip to Bloomington. Although it is right off the road, the property is scenic and beautiful. There is ample space to sit outside and enjoy wine and snacks.

The cost for a wine tasting is five dollars for eight 1.5 oz. pours (the equivalent of about 1.5 glasses of wine) I thought this was really reasonable, and I was very impressed by the wine and customer service. Oliver is know in the region for their sweet white and sweet red wines; a staple in pharmacies and grocery stores across Indiana, but the estate had a large variety of vintages to suit any pallet. My boyfriend and I both prefer drier wines. We loved the Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot. They were both delicious. Some wines on the menu are unavailable for tasting because they are produced in such small quantities, but our server was very helpful in answering our questions about these, and I didn't feel deprived or that there wasn't enough variety on the menu.

Our server was very knowledgeable and courteous. They also have a greeter who can help guests at the winery orient themselves. I thought that they managed the customer flow very well. The winery also offers free guided tours every half hour until around 4:30P.M. We got there right around 4:00P.M and decided to forgo the tour due to time, but definitely worth a visit if you are interested in the wine-making process.

They offer graduated discounts on 6 bottles or more. My boyfriend and I ended up walking away with a case. The prices are very reasonable, and the wine was great.

I would caution visitors that the road Oliver Winery is on is undergoing some serious construction. They are widening the road. Due to this there is some serious traffic at certain times of day, and almost no signage for the winery. We missed the turn on the way down, and ended up losing about thirty minutes of our visit with the heavy traffic, and trying to find our way back to winery. Overall, this is a wonderful attraction to visit if you are in the Bloomington area.

Great wine tasting experience

By EBS-oh |

Wine tasting of eight varieties for 5.40. Best Creekbend wine is the Traminette. Great atmosphere and fun experience. Bring a picnic to enjoy on the grounds.

Always Great

By breezyg03 |

I love stopping by Oliver to see what's new and do a tasting with whoever I'm with that day. For $5 you get 8 pours, which is really nice. As I get older, my palate changes, requiring me to revisit time and again. :) Favorites include the new Bubblecraft, Catawba, etc. Not to fear, their staff members are very knowledgable and make wonderful recommendations. Split a bottle with a friend out on the back deck!

Not worth what we paid

By AlmaAllen |

I felt the picnic package that we purchased was way overpriced. There was supposed to be gourmet meat which ended up being salami. He were also supposed to get wine tumblers that they were out of and their solution was to offer us a free drink at a later date We travel almost 4 hours to get there so that was not good. The winery was closed for tours and the bar was also closed. They did end up giving us a free bottle of wine in place of the tumblers. The reason I gave it a two is because the grounds are absolutely beautiful. They also charge more for the wine there than at our local grocery store.

Oliver Winery is a gorgeous, relaxing place here in Bloomington. The best time to visit is between June and September. It doesn't get too hot because it is cover up with nice trees so you can buy your wine and enjoy it during a picnic . Their garden it is very pretty and you can bring you own tapas or buy cheese and bread to go along with their delicious wine. This place is a MUST if you visit Bloomington.

Bloomington trip

By Melissa V |

Very pretty area with wonderful little walkways and many places to sit and enjoy your Oliver wine purchases. Several people brought cheese and snacks to have with their wine while they sat outside and enjoyed free live music. Be prepared for it to be busy because it's very popular. Has a cool feel to it and the store part is quite lovely and large.

Love this place

By Dave Smiley |

I've driven by so many times. Brought our radio show and had some fun wine and sat outside! Perfect day out by the water!! Fun times

Left us hanging

By Susan B |

We enjoyed the tasting and the outdoor entertainment but were put off by the fact that we were ditched by our original server and then ditched by the second sever who jumped in to cover for her. We would have been fine with waiting a few minutes, but it was much longer than anticipated. We would have also been fine with being after another group, but they were getting 3 wine tastings to our one. I don’t know why were were at the bottom of the list, but it did make us buy less product. We love several of the wines at Oliver, so it’s worth a try. Don’t know what set us apart and made them not serve, but, if you can endure a wait, it’s a great thing to do on a weekend. A little disappointing on our services but we wish you better luck.

Birthday

By Abue3 |

Great experience for my birthday. The patio picnic was delicious! The setting was peaceful & pleasant. Loved the pond & walking paths. Nice photos opportunities.

Very nice store

By HoosierWisdom |

I just could not get anyone to acknowledge me. There were two gentlemen working with groups of tasters, but other than intruding, there was no one to say what was the process.

The wine was reasonably priced and very attractively displayed.

Also, even if you are not into wine, take a moment to enjoy their grounds. Beautiful flower beds, a couple of inviting deck areas and picnic tables are all on site.

First Class Winery

By Richard F |

We have visited a lot of wineries around the country but, this is one of the nicest we've been to. Known as the largest winery west of the Mississippi and one of the most beautiful. You walk to the entrance through some wonderful flower gardens with huge stones standing on end and a huge gorgeous waterfall. You enter into the tasting room and store. You can try several types of tastings or buy a bottle and some meats, cheeses and crackers and go outside and pick a table on a lovely covered deck or go sit out amount the trees. It is just delightful. We started with a short tour of the barrel room and then we chose the 8 variety tasting for the nominal price of $5 each. You are given a sheet of paper with all their wines available and you pick the 8 you want to try. You start with the dry varieties and work your way to the sweet ones. A very knowledgeable server pours you selections and gives you all the information about each one. You take your time and they do not rush you along. When you finish your tasting you are invited to purchase any of your favorites from their well stocked shelves at fairly reasonable prices. We chose several favorites and a few other essentials for home. Plan to spend a least two hours to really enjoy a tasting, a short tour and a stroll through the gardens. If you visit the area and you like wine make sure you add this to your schedule.

Enjoyable weekend

By ManningAvenger |

As usual, Oliver gave us a great experience. This time took the tour and really loved it. Had some wine to drink with some nachos & cheese while listening to a band. Rain was threatening, but didn't ruin anything. Still the best winery in the state.

Trip for wife's bday

My wife has been an Oliver wine fine for years and has been wanting to go to the Winery for a few years now. It was well worth the wait to go. The winery is a great place friendly staff great tour and wines taste great will return again.

Breath Taking Grounds/ Great Wine

By Therese Wesaw |

This is a must see even if you are not wine drinkers. The grounds are just beautiful and you can buy your wine and sit outside and eat cheese and crackers and drink wine. They have tons of seating and a huge pond. It is so peaceful and a great place to read a book. Loved the wine tasting and our server Andrew was so full of knowledge and very, vey friendly. The prices were perfect!!! Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!!

Beautiful setting and surprisingly good wine

By Gary H |

Indiana is hardly known for the quality of its wine, but Oliver Winery puts the lie to that prejudice. To be sure, the best of the red wines are made from California grapes, but even the local reds are acceptable, and the local whites are surprisingly good. The setting is sufficiently beautiful that we often use it for family photos on special occasions. Small snacks can be purchased at the shop. On holiday weekends, be prepared for crowds, and a bit of a wait for winery tours.

Lovely winery

By smcgal02 |

Our group of five came here on a day when it was pouring down rain so we didn't get to enjoy the beautiful grounds. The staff was very well organized and kept all the different groups pointed in the right direction for tastings. The two women that helped us were great. I can only remember one of their names(I believe one was Jen and the other also started with a J) but both of them were knowledgeable, fun and recommended excellent suggestions based on our tastes. The wine is moderately priced and the store if very easy to navigate. I would definitely stop here again.

great wine tasting

By ryans4health |

Excellent wine tasting experience. The guide was very knowledgeable & informative. Would like to return when the weather is warmer to walk the grounds.

Large Winery but very friendly

What a fun stop! My wife and I stopped here on our way back to Minnesota. The server was exceptional and treated us like family! The wine was great and we had a memorable time here.

Nice tasting on patio w picnic basket

By LRgmami72 |

We reserved a patio table and a picnic basket for three. We added two wine flights (only 2 drinkers) and had a great time. It was pretty busy for a Monday afternoon but it was very good. Nothing too gourmet or too bland either. Just right !

Great Wine

By Fris |

You can get bottle of wine and drink them on the patio. They provide the glasses and you buy the wine and they open it. Great service from the staff. We were able to bring our own cheese platter to eat with the wine.

What a beautiful venue to do a wine tasting, buy my favorite and enjoy wine and cheese in a peaceful setting! Love it!

Lovely grounds, live music on the weekends, great wine

By pamawi |

This was the nicest winery ai have been to. I went three days in a row on our trip. They had free music Saturday and Sunday where you could sit outside on the beautiful grounds and listen to the music whether you were drinking or not. On Saturday they had a special Caraffe of Sangria with fruit for $9 which was huge and felt like we had a whole bottle of wine to split between us. Very refreshing on a hot day. We bought spinach dip and crackers and and olives to eat with our sangria. Sunday we went back hoping to get the same thing but they didn't have it. However they helpfully offered to help create the same experience by slicing some fruit and selling us a bottle of sangria wine and gave us glasses of wine. We also carried our own food in, which they were fine with. The tasting area was so busy on the weekend that I didn't do it. So we went back on Momday for the tasting $5 for 8 samples and I bought 3 bottles: Catawba, Rose, and Blackberru. I like sweet wines. Apparently they don't offer tours on weekdays but when we asked about it, they said our sample person could give us a mini-tour. We declined, but thought it was nice of them to offer. The person giving samples was very friendly and didn't make me feel bad that I like cheap sweet wine. I'm definitely no wine connnesuir.

Great Rainy Day Activity

By Terry S |

We visit this winery once per year while staying at McCormick's Creek State Park. We wait for a rainy day when we cannot do park activities. Oliver Winery is a fun experience. Tasting fee is reasonable compared to Napa Valley in California but some of their wines are just as good. A must try experience.

Great for all!

By Andi |

We've only been there twice now. But, I love knowing that Oliver Winery isn't too far away. The atmosphere setting is just beautiful. We enjoy taking our children down to the pond area to see and feed the fish.

Winery trip

By Traci B |

Loved the atmosphere, beautiful winery!! Thought they did their tasting kinda of odd. We had to wait 50 mins with a buzzer in hand? I have never experienced that at any other winery?

Wine Tasting

Beautiful outdoor area to sit and enjoy some wine. Great variety of wines. Nice tasting room. Will definitely will stop again when in the area!!

Great way to spend the afternoon

By Beckwith8 |

We stopped at Oliver on our way to Cincinnati. I am an IU grad but I hadn't been here for 30 years. Tons of beautiful changes, especially to the outside landscaping. Inside is a gorgeous set up for doing a bit of wine tasting. At 8 tastes for $5, with an additional $3 for dessert wine tasting, my husband and I had a lovely stop. We also had a tour of the inside. I wish we had time to linger around on the grounds as music was being played and ample seating was provided. But we left with many good wine choices and were very happy with our stop here.

Great wine tasting experience!

By Erin R |

This was a great stop for a couple of hours. Plenty of good wines to taste (from the local vineyard and outside locations). LOVE the honey wine. The experience was rounded out by the extremely friendly/knowledgable staff and a quick tour of the facility. We visited on a day with live music as well. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. (Also was good to go in the morning when they opened because the room became very crowded when we left around lunch time.)

Always a great stop.

By Sootsgd |

My wife and I travel through Bloomington often and we like to stop here when we can. My first stop was in the late 80s and the tasting room then was a small shack. The place has grown very nicely over the years. They have a nice building now for tasting as well as some retail offerings. The grounds our beautiful and the gardens are nicely maintained with a large picnic area for those wanting to lunch or have a nice snack. The sommeliers that assist you during the tastings are always friendly. During this stop Barbara helped us and she was very nice. My wife and I are also members of the wine club so when we get a chance we pick up our shipment in person. The club offers you 6 selections based on your preference of dry of sweet. You also get additional benefits for being a member. We normally grab some cheese and crackers to take with us so we can enjoy later at our destination. There are cold bottles of wine as well for those wanting to picnic on the grounds. This is a highly recommends stop anytime you are near Bloomington. It's located just off of IN37 north of 46.

Beautiful outdoor venue

By MrIndiana |

Oliver Winery is a visual treat. On a beautiful fall day there were hundreds of people there, yet the operation ran very smoothly. Wine tastings, wine sales, live music and strolling around the lake are among the options. You can buy wine by the glass, bottle or get a flight for tasting. There is no entry fee. A new road has been built off of the new I-69, offering easy access. Snacks can be purchased, but no real food, so bring your own if you are planning a meal.

Wine tasting

By LJB |

We had gotten there too late for the tour but was able to do the wine tasting. Originally said it would be 45 min wait was only 15. We had a great time. The girl that was our tasting connoisseur was very knowledgeable about the wine. Spent time with us and also left us to enjoy our own time. Will ho back for the tour definitely

Relaxing Friday afternoon!!

By MELISSA M |

Relaxing Friday afternoon! The picnic basket is very nice, two different kinds of cheese, salami, bread, crackers, olives, grapes, and cookies. Served in a fun red/white gingham basket. Not to mention a large pitcher of iced water, the souvenir cups are nice... Just purchase a bottle or two of wine to enjoy with the picnic. The covered patio and view is very relaxing!!

We Love It!

By Adagio_Travelers |

My wife & I live a couple of hours away from Oliver and have been here more than a handful of times. Recently Oliver is now charging about $5 per person to taste. It's worth it. Our last visit was great fun. Derek was engaging and knowledgeable. We are not wine connoisseurs - the folks at Oliver always make us feel at home and introduce us to something new. The grounds are great. In the past we have picnicked on their large patio and under a tree near their pond. You are allowed to bring your own food or purchase from their cooler.

I always wanted to stop here!

By Mark K |

I went to college at IU, but was under 21 when I was there. This past Fall my wife & I were on the Harley cruising thru Southern Indiana, and decided to stop. We are glad that we did. This place is amazing. We, or she got a few samples, picked out a few new types of wine she liked, and we decided we need to come back. The grounds are beautiful, I would recommend making a whole day out of your visit. Picnic areas, a pond, covered decks, very nice, very cool.

Lovely place, wonderful staff

By Natalie B |

I just love going to the winery with friends. Wines are wonderful, the staff is even moreso. Owned by local family...great place to sit and sip!

Great time & Special Thanks to Jen D.for a great tasting!

By Kayla B |

Went to the wine tasting room with my mom in May & it was great! We both prefer dry wines and were pleasantly surprised at the variety they had! We have always associated Oliver's with the sweet "Soft Red, Wine, & Rose" collection.

Jen D. was the lady who did our tasting & she was great! Knowledgeable, helpful, and very fun. Thank you to her especially because she made it such a great time!

We have been drinking this wine for years but officially got to visit today. They have such unique and sweet wines/ meads, and you can buy them in Indianapolis! We took the tour (free and very informative) and then did a wine tasting. Great staff. Great atmosphere. Left with a few cases to drive back to NC!

It has gone down hill since our last visit

By Kimberly L |

We took our daughter to celebrate her 25th birthday. We had a 4:30 reservation and was seated about 4:15. We sat there for 20 minutes before someone came by and plopped 3 tasting plates on our table and walked away. It was another 10 minutes before we figured out we were waiting for this to be a "group" tasting. No one explained what was going on.
We found the guy giving the tasting to be rude (telling us we needed to leave right after because they were going to close soon and they wanted to get home to their families).
We paid $94.44 for 3 tastings and 3 tasting plates. Between the 6 tastings we got, they didn't equal to one full glass of wine. For what we paid for the "experience" we could have bought at least 5 bottles of wine to take home and enjoy. There was a rude group of people at the next table talking so loudly, we couldn't really hear our tasting guy explaining how to drink our little "sip" of wine. We watched him pour other tables and he gave them more than our girl gave us. We stated we couldn't decided between the two tastings she was offering, but was told we had to choose one. (but the guy gave the next table both to try)
After the tasting, they asked for a tip (again, tacky and rude. The tip jar was clearly there the whole time for us to see). My husband went to the cashier to get change. The girl was just standing there doing nothing. My husband walked up to her, she looked at him and walked away??
Overall not a great way for our daughter to enjoy her birthday,

Make it a point to visit.

By Patrick G |

Beautiful place. Great atmosphere. Very friendly. Convenient, clean, and fun and reasonably priced. We try to stop in if we are within 50 miles.

Great experience!

By HoosierNCarolina |

I was in Bloomington from out of town, and a friend suggested we visit Oliver. We took our three daughters, all under 4, for a picnic. There's a great picnic area overlooking a lake, and you can take in food - just no outside alcohol. You can purchase wine from inside to drink on the patio, or you can visit the tasting room. I was impressed with the selection of wines, and it was only $5/person to taste 8 wines of your choice. There was a building off the main building that housed it's own tasting counter, and that area also had tables, which is where our kids sat while we tasted. The grounds were lovely, everyone was very friendly, and the staff was extremely knowledgable. I really enjoyed the wine! If we lived close by, we'd definitely visit regularly!
